I have very good luck with American Home Shield. I go online and request what I have to request with the work orders, and they seem timely. Within that 24-hour time frame, they’ll set up, they’ve contacted somebody, and the people come out when it’s convenient for us or for them.

This is my first claim in nearly 4 years. My local appliance store quoted 4 days and $400 to repair the oven. However, I remembered that I had a home warranty, cancelled the repair, and contacted AHS to schedule an appointment. My AHS contractor delayed in scheduling an appointment and ordering parts. He has not returned any of my calls, texts, or voicemails. I call at least once per week, and have been forced to contact AHS to determine the status of the repairs multiple times.
AHS is aware that I am upset with their service, but nonetheless decided to ship the necessary parts cheaply instead of utilizing some sort of expedited service. Parts were not ordered for almost one month after the original contact date, and took over one week to arrive from the east coast - they arrived today and their contractor does not work weekends. I am fairly certain that the oven will still be inoperable as of 2020, and I initiated contact with AHS November 15th, 2019. I am 100% dissatisfied and will almost certainly cancel service when the repair is complete. This is completely unacceptable, and this will not be the last time AHS hears from me.

AHS sent electrician out to my home for HVAC issue. Electrician installed electric box that caught fire. AHS has been giving me the run around for over a month now. I have filed a complaint with BBB and am in the process of obtaining an attorney. I have documented every action and inaction along with names. I have been lied to constantly. The electrical co. that is suppose do the work has cancelled appointments and AHS is not taking this serious. As of today I still have a potential electrical hazard at my home so I am nervous every time I leave my house. Now supervisors are refusing to take my calls because they dont want their name attached to this issue because they know they are wrong.

Called in the problem, paid the $125 fee, they gave me the name of a local contractor who would not contact me, I called him and he never answered any of my calls. I went to his house (I know the contractor small town). He wouldn't answer the door. His work truck was outside his house. Contacted AHS and was told they didn't have another contractor. This was March 2019. I asked for my $125 fee to be returned 3 times now and was assured it was "in the mail." Lost out on $125, problem never fixed. Worst company I've ever felt with. Beware!!

I had a request a couple of weeks ago and American Home Shield couldn’t find the part anywhere to fix it, so they’re gonna replace the oven. I called them to see where they looked, and I found that they only buy from certain companies. The challenge I’m having is I have an upgraded oven and they want to give me a GE, and I’d like for them to find the part. I have a Fisher & Paykel and it’s brand-new, and they won’t replace it with the same quality. My wife isn't happy with that. I’m trying to find something that will work but it’s gonna cost me a lot of money to upgrade it. They’re willing to give me $1,300 but I can’t replace an oven for that with the same quality. Nonetheless, the technician that came out was great. He knew what the problem was and figured it out real fast. He was very polite and nice.

Two things had occurred in my refrigerator. Inside, between the freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment, was getting extremely hot. I called about that and Hornet Appliance was sent out within 48 hours, which was fairly quickly. The technician was very good and I was told, technically, the fan is not cooling the compressor so it’s causing it to heat up. They had to order a part and come back and another guy came out and installed it. He was good too but I didn’t interact with him very much. Beginning to end, it took about five days. I’ve also had 2 other claims and I’ve been extremely satisfied.

We didn’t really use AHS that much, and they refused one call. But they fixed the other call. They took long to answer the phones and get back to me. But their contractor, Foster's Appliance, provided good service.

We had a plumbing issue. We submitted a claim to AHS and they sent Discount Contractors out. I called on a weekend but they don’t open on the weekend, so they came that Monday. They called me before they came. They came and did the work on the toilets. They handled it very well. The guy knew what he was doing and he got to it. He was very professional. He had the parts with him in his truck and he took care of that.
However, last time when they fixed my heater, my heater didn’t work that well. It heated all right but then all of a sudden, my heat was not doing right back. The house would get cold at 12 o’clock at night, and then I have to go downstairs and turn the furnace back up. Also, when they came out to fix the furnace, it took them four days. And then they ordered parts, but then they realized it was not in the warehouse, so I had to wait two more days for that. And my house was cold. I told them they should’ve checked it. But in the long run, they did fix it. I’m satisfied with them. Although, I have to call them back out here to look at it again. I also don’t know if AHS is gonna double-charge me for that.

I’ve used American Home Shield a couple of times, and it worked out. They're doing okay. I had put down a claim for two leaks. One was a pipe, and Prime Plumbing Services fixed that, but I thought they would go do the second leak. It was outside. It was my sprinkler system.

Choice Plumbing Heating and AC came out for a plumbing issue and that clam was excellent. The plumber did a wonderful job. He knew exactly what to do. He was there, in and out in less than an hour, and everything was working when he left. Their claims process was a little difficult though. I paid with my credit card, initially, through the automated line and then it transferred me to a customer care person and it showed no record that I had just made a payment. So, that was a little frustrating.

Submitting a claim to AHS was very easy. I made one phone call to AHS, told them what it was about, and got a call back saying when they would be out here, that a tech would call when they’re on their way. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and did a good job. The technician located the problem, he fixed it very promptly, and then explained to me what he did.

I recently purchased my home and American Home Shield's the insurance that I have for the first year coverage just in case something happens. I pulled out my documents and gave them a call because I was not getting any hot water. The level where I could turn the showers from hot to cold stopped in the middle. I had a previous plumber come to my house two days before who told me that there was something wrong with the pipes inside the wall and I paid them. It was just a mess. On the other hand, the guy from Rockland Plumbing was here within an hour after I called in a claim with AHS and I was shocked. He came out to adjust the valve of my showers. He was very nice and personable. He had the job done in two bathrooms in less than five minutes. It was a super easy fix and I just paid the $100 deductible. It was an excellent job and I was completely satisfied.

I have had to use American Home Shield's service twice, and so far, it has been really good. I had some issues with outlets on our front porch and a bathroom fan that was not working. The electrician that came out got all of that in working order. I was really uncomfortable because nobody could come out with me that day, and I don't like being home alone with a male coming. But he was very professional and he kept his distance. He explained to me what the problems were and what he did to fix them. I felt like he did a really good job because I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

My furnace was running, then it would stop blowing cool air. It wouldn’t operate once I have it in a auto position. So I called American Home Shield like I always do. Rush Heating & Cooling was able to resolve the issue. And I was satisfied with the interaction I've had with them. They were professional and courteous. I’ve had AHS for several years now. They were referred by a friend. I’ve used them a few times, and it hasn’t been a unpleasant experience. It’s good to have it.

When the faucet was leaking, I initially went online, but I ended up having to call because my contract number had changed and I had not received it so I was putting in the incorrect contract number. We had some work where I was not satisfied with what I was being told. Things weren't being explained to me correctly or I was misunderstanding why they could come out for a leaking sink, but not a clogged one. They put it in terms where they had to put in a call for the leak, not the clogged sink because it wasn't covered.
The guy was very knowledgeable and polite though. He was also very nice and on time. He called us to let us know that he had finished someone early and wanted to know if it was possible he could come on to us, which was no problem. I said that I would be at home and what time I would be at home. I was thankful that he was able to meet me at the house around the time that I was gonna be home The first time he came, he didn't have the proper tool he needed to unclog the drain, but when he came back out to replace the faucet, he did it then. The faucet was also replaced. Other than a language barrier problem, I'm satisfied with the service and the warranty that I've been getting from AHS.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield to rekey our home for a new home purchase. It was our first ever claim and the rep I spoke with on the phone was excellent. The process was smooth and it went like clockwork. They sent out a guy from Steve Rodgers Locksmithing the next day, and he was a lot of fun and very personable. We ended up getting four keys because we had two locks changed.

We’ve submitted claims both on the phone and online and both ways came out good. The first few times, we did it strictly by telephone, but then we started doing it online and American Home Shield responded fast. The drains and the sinks were backed up and I called Keeton Plumbing late Friday so they weren’t able to get there that late in the afternoon. They were there on Monday, which was the next business day and they also called to tell us what was going on.
The service was for my 93-year old mother and they took the time to explain to her why the thing was blocked up and what they were doing, each and every moment. My mom is hard of hearing, and so we had to have somebody next door to make sure to open the door when they were there. She was very pleased with how courteous everybody was. They were very nice and she said high praise for them. Aside from my home and my mom's home, we also have AHS on my son’s home, and between the three houses, I have been with them for five years.

I’m paying the premium every month and it’s nice to know when my air compressor breaks and the whole thing falls apart, American Home Shield is gonna help me. We had a little problem with the first vendor, but the last person was great. All American Cooling fixed the problem in about an hour and 10 minutes, and they were amazing.

It's very hard to get a hold of people through Home Shield. When you call, you don’t get a person. They have you on hold for hours and hours trying to get to the next representative. If I call in the wee hours of the morning, sometimes I could get a person, but then the person who they say they are gonna send doesn’t show up. One time, the person who they assigned didn’t show up, but I got charged for them coming. I had to get someone on my own, but they did reimburse me. The people that come out to do the work have been professional. My boiler was doing mini-explosions and the heat was getting too much gas and was shutting off. Horner Heating came out and said the emission thing was filling up, so they put some new parts on it. The tech was a young man and he knew what he was doing, he went right to it and got it done.
I still appreciate American Home Shield even if I can't get through all the time because had it not been for having a warranty through them, I wouldn’t be able to afford this stuff anymore. They are good for covering the product warranty. They've taken pretty good care of me for the last 20 years that I've had them. I would recommend them to others for home warranties, especially new beginners who may have appliances that they're just starting or have had for five years or so, before their warranties wear off. So, in their future, their cost to repair won't be as much.

Cutting Edge Total Comfort came out and replaced a piece that they thought was the issue, and then two weeks later, the whole control board crashed. So both times, I was experiencing the same issue. I read a bunch of their reviews online and being that I’m with American Home Shield, you can't get to pick your contractor. I was very skeptical of their service because they didn’t really have any good reviews. There is one or two good reviews out of a whole slew of reviews, so I was very skeptical but they seemed to do all right. They came out within 24 hours of being scheduled. They came within their time frame, and the tech diagnosed the issue. It was a gas Forsaire furnace. What he originally replaced was the thermocouple and then it ended up being the whole electrical board.
I’ve only been with American Home Shield for about six months, and now I’m getting leery of them too there because I had a couple people suggest them as good home warranty, but now my in-laws are having a big problem with them and my other buddy is having an issue with them, so I’m like, “Oh, no.” AHS was a recommendation. My house is not old and my appliances are all newer appliances, but I wanted that peace of mind. You either pay for a service like that or get ready to spend three grands here or there. But I thought AHS would be a good choice. So far, I’ve only had one claim, and it worked out. It was a $150 and it was over a $1,000 worth of repair.

Our water heater was leaking hot water from the bottom and Universal Plumbing had to replace it. The technicians were excellent and they took care of everything in one day. I have been with American Home Shield since 2008 or 2009.

The people that American Home Shield sent out for the job were very professional and they knew what they were doing. They had knowledge of the product so I'm satisfied. I've been in the program about a year and this is my second call out, and both times were satisfactory. Everybody has equal qualifications in what they do or what they're responsible for but being polite to the customer and acting professional goes a long way.

The contractor was fantastically good. The mechanic that came out to diagnose what seemed to be going on with the problem spent a great deal of time but was persistently trying to look at different aspects of that system and discovered two issues that had not been discovered before. It needed a part and they came back very quickly considering these people are 50 miles away or so. They needed to schedule it on the day they were gonna have several calls up here. They made it happen very quickly. It was not a week apart. They got here on a Friday and I called them back on Monday. I told them I was extremely happy because for the first time in six weeks, we had heat in our house. So, I can’t say enough good about the tenaciousness, the thoughtfulness and the methodical thinking through all the processes that could have been causing the trouble. This company did a wonderful job.
I had to call several times about the dishwasher and I had to call the outfit that handles the replacement of equipment and their recording was saying that they were experiencing unusually high call volume and they were doing what we could to take care of it. The recording never changed. If American Home Shield is having that much trouble, they should hire some more people. An hour to wait on the phone to get a hold of somebody is ridiculous. The call center people was a toss-up as to whether they were going to be understandable. Their script book was usually good, but the quality of the interaction was poor. I’m hard of hearing and from the customer’s point of view, sometimes it’s a hassle, and sometimes the call waiting is outrageous but once I got a hold of somebody, I was almost always satisfied with the response I got.

The guy came in and put a new faucet that goes from the wall to the bottom of the toilet and it was leaking. So, I put a new one of those on but he said it was good and he left, and it was still leaking. I called him and he came right back and fixed it. That time, he said that he was gonna get rid of the one that was on the toilet and put a new one on and it worked great. The claim went good, and he was nice and very polite.
I've been with American Home Shield since about 2007. When I got divorced from my husband, I was all by myself and so I picked it up and I've had it ever since. It's great for a single woman who doesn't know any contractors. It's like taking your car to the dealer. You don't know if it's really on the up and up or not. With American Home Shield, I pay a monthly payment every month and then, my service fee is $75. It gives me peace of mind to know that this is all taken care of. When I need to have something done, I just call them. They make an appointment for me, they come out, everybody takes care of what they're supposed to do and it's amazing. The contractors have always been very professional and gentlemen. They do the work and they do a great job.
I have talked to my boyfriend who has got stuff wrong with his house. I told him that if he did American Home Shield, they would come in and fix stuff for him but he doesn't wanna spend the money. He refuses to do it so when everything breaks, I would tell him that AHS could’ve fixed it. It just goes on and it's broke and he never fixes it. I work at a school and I told people time and again how great AHS is and that they’re a lifesaver. I just call them, they have the vendor come out, fix the problem, and go on their merry way. Everybody that they've got has been so polite to me and a lot of them know me because I've been with them for so many years that they just know when they come to my house.

I log into the website when I submit claims, I choose what service I need, and I book it through there. Then I get texts with the information of who’s coming. They also call me and give me the time or work out a time of when the contractor would come out. In my most recent claim, someone contacted me about 3 days after I submitted the claim but that was just because it was close to the holidays. Express Appliance Services came out to service the refrigerator which was purchased brand-new with the home last year. And we had to call the service twice because there was a problem with the Freon.
The technician was very good and efficient. He got everything up and running the same day. It probably took about an hour, and it was just mostly ‘cause they needed to refill the Freon which was what took the longest. But he was very knowledgeable and he knew exactly what was going on. He also advised that there is a possibility that it will continue happening. He was very forthcoming with that. So, as of right now, I’m very pleased with American Home Shield. We were very happy that we actually renewed after the seller purchased the warranty for us. I have all good results with them so far.

My sink was clogged up. I did my claim automated and this time it was easy. I've had problems before where they put me on hold, but that never happened the whole time I've been with American Home Shield, so I was very happy about that. They then got back with me the same day and the same time, and they text me back who was coming and what time it was coming too. The contractor from AZ Remodeling & Plumbing was right on time. He gave me five hours, and he was there within the hour. He got something unclogged, and my husband said that the guy did a good job and that he didn't make a mess. So far, everything is great. I was very satisfied.

This is gonna be my second year with American Home Shield. I have a Wolf oven, a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, and not too many people have repair people that come and fix these things. I use my appliance a lot, so I needed to be reassured that if something should go wrong, I wasn't going to pay a fortune to have it fixed. I did a bit of research and they got good reviews and the people that I bought the appliances from recommended them.
Nana's Service, the contractor that AHS sent out, was very professional. It didn't take very long for them to get here, and they were much better than the company that came before them. I had a different contractor come and it took them forever because they came, the tech ordered the part, and then he forgot to put in the order. And it feels like I was chasing after him. Now, they have this new company which I was very happy with. They came, they knew exactly what they were doing and they fixed the problem. I had somebody come out for the oven and the stove, and then someone come out for the dishwasher, and they were very nice. They told me to call them if I had any problem that reoccurred.

I like having American Home Shield. I don't have any issues with what's covered or the service that we're getting. It's been a fair deal, and I've learned to rely on it. Choice Plumbing Heating and A/C came out for our most recent service request. It was for a furnace issue. The fan was not coming on and it was discovered that a starting capacitor needed to be changed. I did my claim online. The website is fine and it lets you know that within 24 hours, you'll be contacted for an appointment, and it usually does happen. It's just that I've learned to try to be as complete as possible when I put in the initial service request. Also, it's unfortunate that for the weekend coverage, we will have to find someone on our own. But that's just the way it goes. I understand.

There was no heat in our furnace. I called American Home Shield and they sent United Air Temp. The guy that came out was really nice. He was excellent. I used to go through Appleton and I got rid of them because their receptionist was extremely rude and they were overpriced. So far, everything has been fine with AHS. We had a new Amana put in. Since they credited us stuff on our furnace, that was good for me. Because if we don’t get help with the furnace, there's no point having a home warranty.

American Home Shield sent Drain Go out for a plumbing issue that I had. They came really quickly, and the guys who came knew exactly what to do and fixed the issue straight away. It was very good. The claims submission with AHS is good too. They’re helpful on the phone. The only thing is sometimes it takes quite a while to get through on the phone. I know you could do it all online, but sometimes that’s difficult when you're at work, and so it’s quicker on the phone. I'm not paid way over what I’ve actually used, but it’s a relief to pay 100. I've had two claims. The washing machine was 350 and the shower was 250, but it’s an insurance.

There was a time when we would leave our place and try to hit the garage door with the remote but then we couldn't get it to close. We submitted a claim to AHS and they sent Ace’s Garage Door & Repair. The tech was supposed to be at the house between noon and 4:00 and he didn’t show up ’til after 5:30, which was okay because I work and stop at 4:00. But, I had made arrangements for someone else to let him in and that didn’t happen. Also, I don’t know what he did because he was gone before I ever talked to him. My roommate said that the tech took off and I thought that was a little weird.
I haven’t had a good experience with AHS other than for my garbage disposal. They fixed my garbage disposal quickly and it works perfectly now. With my last experience with AHS, the lights were flickering in my house. I have my electricity covered so when their guy came out he saw that my fuse box was sparking. He moved a couple of the things around and while it stopped sparking, the lights are still flickering. I can’t get AHS to come out and fix that.
AHS should actually provide service. They charge us $75 any time we call and need something done. My electricity cost me $75 twice because they never fixed it the first time. It cost me $75 to have someone come out to fix the garage door. My warranty renewed in December and I paid $500 and something for it. I haven't looked in on whether they'll give me my money back. But still, I'm looking at different warranty companies.

We've had American Home Shield since 2013 and their claims process is very easy. We like the fact that we can call and have things repaired if it can be repaired. And if not, it can be replaced.

When I had to contact AHS for the heating element, they had somebody come right out the next day. When I was with another company, it would take about two to three days. So AHS was on the ball. The techs were courteous and professional about everything. When they came out, I smelled an element smell. They said there was nothing they could do with the smell. But they did what they had to do and they told me. I had to go try to get some deodorizer from Home Depot and put inside the air handling unit to kill the smell. Every now and then, I smell an element smell on the stove..

My claim was for my clothing washer not going through the proper cycles, and it was found that the filter on the bag of the washer where the water line’s going to was clogged, and it was causing fault codes on the LCD display of the washer. That was fixed, and then it was researched that it was my water softener that was putting out bad water. Also, my water meter out in the street was damaged, so I had all those repaired. The water meter is done by the water company, Las Vegas Valley Water District. The company that came out to do the repair on the washer did an excellent job, and I highly recommend them. They came within their allotted time window. They showed up clean, well-dressed and with all the tools. They were very knowledgeable of my type of washing machine, and they were very good.

When I submitted a claim for the dryer, I was told that I would be contacted within 24 hours, which was correct and very timely. However, I don’t like having to pay a deductible every single time I call. The dryers light would come on on one cycle but it wouldn’t work on any of the other cycles. The contractor checked it and ordered the parts, which took a bit of a long while, but parts take what parts take. Then, as soon as the parts came in, they were out. There were two of them and they were very efficient and quick. They got it working and everything has been fine so far. I'm very satisfied with the experience. I would certainly have them back out.

We had a plumbing stoppage issue. I submitted a claim to AHS and the response of the contractors was pretty immediate. We were very satisfied. It was excellent and everything's flowing well. I didn't have heat on one side of my house, and the contractor came out in less than 24 hours. They replaced the capacitor in the furnace and did a wonderful job. They were in and out in 30 minutes.

My air conditioning unit wasn't producing cold air one time so I submitted a claim online through my American Home Shield account. Navigating their site was easy and straightforward. As soon as I submitted a claim they sent me a text that said that I would be contacted within 24 hours. I was satisfied by the service rendered by Island Breeze HVAC LLC which was sent by AHS. Their tech was able to fix my problem quickly. There was something burned out on the compressor unit and he was able to fix it with what he had in the truck. My AC has been working since then.

When RJ Wiggins came out for an electrical issue, the tech was professional, courteous and timely. That experience was good. I've had American Home Shield for 18 years. For the most part, my experience with them has been positive. It's just that the cost of the service is disappointing because we pay $50 a month and the fee is close to $80 to have someone come out as a service fee. Having paid almost $50 a month for the last almost 20 years was a bit absurd. We’ll certainly prepare for the auto renewal because that happens on a yearly basis. Sometimes, it sneaks up on you and you don’t realize, and you think, “Oh, I’m gonna cancel.” Sometimes it says that you are required to do some preventative things in order for them to be covered, which is frustrating. Technically, we’re spending about $600 a year on the policy the way it is.

I submitted a claim to AHS for a garbage disposal. It was making a lot of noise and it really wasn't working right. It was leaking water from the bottom of it. I spoke with a representative of AHS and it was fine. I didn't have any problems. They worked it out. They tried one person but they were busy. They went with the other person, and they connected with me within 24 hours. The guy that came out did a great job. I would have him back. He replaced the garbage disposal. Once he looked at it, diagnosed the problem and saw it was something that couldn't really be fixed, he immediately went out. He called it in, waited for a response and said he had one in the truck. He came back in, put it in and he did an excellent job. I have no complaints.
I've been with American Home Shield for at least six years. I've had a few different homes to different homes. After dealing with them, I had a few issues, but they worked itself out. They do a good job. However, I think they needed to be a little more selective in the people that they have working for them. At this particular situation, it was a great marriage between myself and Integrity Plumbing, but there have been times in the past where they've hired less reputable companies that weren't as professional.

We had no heat. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and they sent A & R Complete Service Corp. The tech explained to me what the problem was. The hot water heater was not hooked up so I wasn't gonna get any heat. I didn't know that and I got an expensive lesson on how my hot water heater works. Still, the fella who came was great. AHS did fine.

I have a claim and the contractor I got was really bad. With another I experience I have though, the all-around experience was excellent. My furnace wasn't heating enough one day. I also tried the easy though it was very cold and it didn't seem to be working as well. I called AHS and they sent RR HVAC. The tech was right on time. The service RR provided was exceptional. They were accurate and honest. Everything has been working fine so far.

Our experience with Immediate Response Plumbing & Rooter Service was excellent. They were prompt in calling and showed up before time. We tried to get them to come in but he said he couldn't start 'till 8:00. And there were two of them that came and they got the job done within just a few minutes and we knew the problem was the stoppage in the sink. Everything was great. I also like the fact that I could go ahead and pay AHS. We make the claim, we can go ahead and pay the $75. It was already paid by the time the contractors came.

There was a problem with my water heater and when Barlow Plumbing Service first came out, they just hit the reset switch. That caused the water heater to be able to work again, and then they left. Thereafter, since I knew how to reset the reset switch, I just reset it whenever the hot water would fail. Then time got away from me, so it was a little over a 30-day period before I had them back out. When they came back out, they found that it was the thermostat or something and they had to replace parts in it. That took about an hour because things were hard to get to. For the particular brand of electric water heater that we have, there are two different thermostats, one on the top and one on the bottom. In the end, everything is working okay now after the repair.

This company only covered 2,000 dollars of our old HVAC system. We had to purchase a new system due to this company not covering most parts to fix the old HVAC. They blamed it on a code that only covers minimum parts. I would recommend of you are considering this company as your warranty company to cover you appliances to really think twice. Payments are high and service fees are also extremely high. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Do your research and these prior reviews are nonsense. Respectfully submitted. Bill **

My 1st overall experience was ONLY "FULL OF FRUSTRATION and DEPRESSION". American Home Shield's service is a scam, fraud and not worth. The time you need them, they will give all excuses to not do the job and to give all excuses that the items are not covered in your contract, even if those are clearly listed as "COVERED" in your contract. This was my 1st time using American home shield and this was 1st time I requested for a service from them. After my this 1st experience, I just strongly feel that I should have hired somebody directly to do the job, pay more money and should have never used American Home Shield.
I even tried to raise my concern to Customer Care, but as expected, they also didn't care anything about customer and further proved that this company is not in customer's favor. I called them so many times and every time I had to explain everything from start, every time I heard new story and new next steps from customer care executives. They promised me that I will get a call back but I never received any call back from them. So I called again and again but no resolution to my problems. I requested them that I want to escalate this - they simply said, "I cant escalate" and I will get a call back which I never did.
One of the customer care executive was even so rude - even after I explained my situation and depression. I am not sure what kind of training and monitoring this company does on how their customer care executives deals with the customers. - that behavior was not at all acceptable. I know none of my comments will matter. But I thought, somebody who might read my comments can save himself/herself from taking American Home Shield and save themselves from tons of frustration. I WOULD SUGGEST AND RECOMMEND TO PAY MORE TO SOME REPUTED SERVICE PROVIDERS AND NOT BUY AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. Regards Surender **. I am not providing my AHS account details here for privacy.

I just had my first bad experience with American Home Shield and who they have listed for vendors for repair service. From August 2019 until December 2019 Ive been waiting to get my refrigerator repaired By Ameritech. They continue to come out here and never resolve my problem after 9 appts. I finally had to call and beg for the third time to AHS to request that they never send Ameritech back out to my home. Finally when the new company came National Appliance Repair they fixed it within three days. Ameritech is a joke and should NEVER Have allowed this issue to go on for four months. I am currently looking for an attorney to recoup my fees for all the times I had to miss from work to be here for appointments and all the food I lost within those four months that Ameritech claimed my refrigerator is repaired and it was not.

Working with AHS has gotten better over the years. I had a claim for my air conditioner that we thought had blown up. There was smoke coming out of it. When the tech AHS sent from Cityline Air Conditioning LLC came there was nothing wrong with it. He said that was how the air conditioner resets itself. It has been working fine since he came. I also needed my dryer vent cleaned that time but then the girl rep on the other end of the line wasn't aware that AHS' washer-dryer guy didn't do dryer vents. She hooked me up with them and their tech called me telling me that they don't do vents. So, there was a little communication problem there. Despite this issue, having AHS has been great.

The heat on the AC wouldn’t blow and we submitted the claim online to American Home Shield. We thought it was the outside unit but apparently, everything was upstairs. Charles, the contractor, had to replace a part, which was something that was easily fixed. He was great and he did the work. He had been out there before and we were very pleased with him. I had American Home Shield a while back and got reinstated with them within the last couple of months when I was financially able to. I needed to have the services done on a lot of my appliances and my whole home equipment in a way that would save me from having to pay out-of-pocket. When I was without heat, they sent Butler M-K. They were very professional and the tech did a wonderful job. He fixed everything in a timely fashion and I was very pleased. A part of my furnace needed to be replaced. Not only did he do that, but he also replaced my thermostat with a newer model. Everything went perfectly.

I’m a Realtor and I refer all my clients to American Home Shield. Whenever I have a transaction, they always buy from them. I have also been a loyal customer. When I moved in, I remodeled everything. The house was brand new and I never bought a home warranty, but I felt it was about time. I have lived in this place for eight years and things may start breaking down. I recently made a claim and the technician came and took care of the problem. That has been giving us trouble in the past, so I wasn’t very hopeful that would be taken care of, but he did and I was quite surprised. He was good and he did things very professionally.

The washer/dryer was making a noise recently and I called it in at American Home Shield. The techs from Able Heating & AC were easy to deal with. They replaced the pulley that was making the noise. They had to order it and they came back a second time and fixed it. It’s been functioning well ever since.

The pool companies tend to fix things the day they come, and certain air conditioning companies do as well. For the heat claim, the guy came out, diagnosed it, had the part on his truck and fixed it. That particular company has been good and every time they’ve come out for things, they’ve been able to get the stuff done. What tends to happen, though, is that most of the companies come out, look at the problem and say, “I don’t have the parts,” and then you don’t see them for a week. Usually, whatever’s broken, you’re stuck for a week without it working.
With the plumbing, the guy kept on coming out and saying, “We need to come back.” The problem was they couldn’t find where the leak was. It was in the wall. One guy they sent wanted to come up on top of our granite countertops, but he was obese. So, I ended up cutting it up myself and finding out where the leak was. The first company that came said, “We’ll fix it. We need to get some parts.” Then they just left, and then they said, “We’re not gonna fix it. We can’t fix it. We’re not capable.” They came three times and ended up not fixing it.
The second company that came out was all about trying to prove it wasn’t a claim that needed to be fixed. I ended up fixing that one myself too. We had a pipe that was close to another pipe, and when it was installed, it was touching. They were trying to say it was the foundation moving. I was saying, “No, it’s because that’s the drain pipe". The guys came out and they cut into the Sheetrock to see it. They were supposed to fix the Sheetrock, but I haven’t gone through and done the claim. I know they denied the claim to fix the plumbing, and I ended up cutting it and fixing it myself. But American Home Shield is still responsible to fix the diagnosis stuff where they had to cut into the Sheetrock. I felt like everyone was trying to get out of doing the work rather than trying to fix my problem.

We had a toilet that wouldn’t flush and a kitchen sink that was leaking, for which I filed a claim with American Home Shield. I did that online and then I got a call the next day. The toilet and the sink have been fine since the repair, but we hadn’t worked with this plumber before and I kinda wished that we would’ve been able to use our own plumber. They had done other work for us before on a different property but they said they don’t work with American Home Shield.

I’ve had a water heater issue, but AHS didn't replace it. They put a heating element in it, but it’ll probably go out. Submitting the claim was easy, but there was a hidden out of the pocket BS that I wasn’t aware of. 1000 bucks, to be exact. They said that I’m not up to code. The house was just built in 2011. What do you mean I’m not up to code? AHS advertises like they're a big warranty thing, but they don’t expose the hidden fees, like the labor. I just want my crap fixed and for them to do what they say they're gonna do and not charge me for something they're not doing.

I have done some claims online, but I call AHS most of the time because when you do it online, you just get the regular service. And if there’s a leak in your wall, you need expedited service. The guy from High Priority Plumbing and Services was great and is welcome to come back anytime. He cut three holes in the wall and found the leak. He also cut the pipes where it was leaking at and put a new piece of pipe there. But I’m still waiting on American Home Shield to schedule somebody to come out and patch the holes up, but nobody called me back yet.
I've been with American Home Shield since 2012 and I’ve only had a problem with them last year when they couldn’t get my air conditioner fixed. AHS kept sending people out, but just one company. They would come out and say, “Well, we can’t do that. We’re not specialized in that field.” Then, they turned around and told me that the technicians did do what was wrong when they didn’t. I told them I didn’t want them to come back. So finally, when American Home Shield switched a company for me, a guy came right out to fix the AC. I had no more problems with it. But it took me about eight months to get my air conditioner fixed and I had a high light bill every month. AHS should have been aggressive in getting me somebody that was gonna repair it.

I've had American Home Shield for at least 15 years.now and submitting claims has been really smooth. They let me know ahead of time when the people are coming, and I like that. They also automatically deduct the $100 from my checking account. I had their contractor, Accord, for a problem with the washer, and though the guy was a bit rude initially, it turned out okay when he finally came.
I then had RR HVAC, and the first guy who came out was nice and he checked everything. He said somebody might come and check behind him. Another gentleman came, and I was a little disturbed because he asked me who I had, and when I told him I have American Home Shield, he said, “Hmm. They might not do anything.” I told him that I had been satisfied with American Home Shield up until now. I don’t think that another company should say anything negative, but I didn't say anything about that. He also said it might cost me $2,000 or $3,000 for another unit, but he had not checked anything yet, just the other gentleman.
And then, Ray, the owner of the company, called me back and asked if everything was fixed. And I said, “Well, not really.” He said he was gonna check with my warranty company and let me know. Also, he would send me the information about what he found wrong so that, if possible, I can have it either repaired or, if I have to, make a purchase myself.
I just wish American Home Shield could better explain the information regarding their warranty. I downloaded my contract and read what I have warrantied, and I was gonna call them to see if their contractor had submitted anything or what was wrong and what would I have to do because it has been over a week. Other than that, I really haven't had any problems and I have told other people about American Home Shield.

Express Comfort Heating & Air came out to look at my heat pump that wasn’t working properly. I went online to file this claim but then I also got on a call with American Home Shield. The website was very user-friendly. I called about 10 o’clock, and the contractor came out that afternoon. He was here within four hours. His name was Chris and he did a very good job. The repair that he made and the adjustments he did looked to have corrected the issue.

I’ve had my Home Shield for years and years now, and I’ve always been satisfied with them. I have a mobile home, and whenever the thermostat was put in, it was just screwed into the Sheetrock. And after 20 years, it fell out and quit working. I called it in and then I got email and text messages on what to expect. The contractor sent out was really nice and he seemed to know what he was doing. So, everything came out good.

I had multiple claims with my first claim with American Home Shield. I did it all at the same time to save my hours, so I could just take off one day. For the heating, JJK HVAC came out to our home and checked my HVAC for heating, and also gave me a couple of notice to make my HVAC last longer. It was a great experience. The tech was very nice. He was very knowledgeable of what he does and has great customer service.
The plumbing is still the issue. I took a day off a couple of times and they were not able to fix that issue. I’m guessing that the contracting company is having issue with the one who takes the appointments. The first one, they sent someone that doesn’t have any experience with tankless water heater. So, that was a waste of day. The second one, the guy was very knowledgeable. He’s like a walking encyclopedia when it comes to plumbing. But he didn’t have the proper solution to do it. That was Tuesday or Monday. He said that he was gonna come back Friday to do it. But for some reason, the one who does the appointments got fired. So, I was waiting the whole day for someone to come back.
When I called the company, they said, “We don’t have you on the schedule.” So, I have to go back and reschedule something. But they told me that I need to pay $190 something for them to order the parts. But I already paid my copay, so I called American Home Shield and they said that I shouldn’t be paying them. If something is not covered, they should submit it to American Home Shield. That was back in November or December. American Home Shield is supposed to call me back on what their decision is, if they’re gonna keep that same plumber or they’re gonna send a different company. But I have not heard from them yet. My plumbing is still not working right. I just need someone reliable to get it fixed.

I called American Home Shield and the rep was pretty good. Handy Randy’s Enterprises came and serviced my dishwasher, which was beeping and wasn't working properly. The rinsing agent was leaking, and so they had to change the part. They had to order the part, and the guy came back and fixed it. I turned the dishwasher on yesterday and it was pretty good.

I called American Home Shield as I was not getting hot water in the room. The mechanic came on time but he had to come out twice and he was not able to figure it out. They changed something in the thermostat and also a part, then finally, they fixed it. But there was another leaking, and the manager, Will, came in and said the previous mechanic said the temperature is high, so there was a leak. He adjusted and fixed it, and now, it’s okay.

Shamanski Heating & Cooling is terrific and American Home Shield should really keep them. We had a heating issue and they knew what to do. They took care of a clog, and they’re wonderful. They’re just pleasant and very knowledgeable. We also had a trouble last year and they were sent out. There were others who were sent out and they changed a little, but once Shamanski came, they seemed to know what to do. They’re excellent. The only thing was we had to wait a day or so because it was a weekend or a holiday. If it was cold out that time, then that would be really bad. Other than that, our experience with American Home Shield was good.

We started with AHS when we were in California. Now that we’re in Las Vegas, we still have them and we've been with them for 25 years. When we have a claim, I like to call in which is usually faster than going online. Recently, we had a claim for the dishwasher and they assigned ALFA Appliances to service it. The techs came out in one day and they did very well. They were a super appliance fixer. I also tell people all about AHS all the time and the ones I talked to over here are from a big community. But AHS is new here in Las Vegas and the people I talked to said they never heard of the company. So eventually, I gave them the telephone number and everything else.

We had a plumbing issue so we filed a claim to AHS. It was very easy to file a claim. They were awesome. However, the first person who came was a little rude, but the next team that came over to replace the heater was really pleasant. They were really nice people. The contractor from Realty Rekey came out to do a change of locks because we had just moved in. He had me test the two doors he changed, and I let him out the front door but didn’t actually got to use the front door until I tried to leave again for work the next morning. And when I did try to leave for work, the key wouldn’t lock from the outside. And so, then I came back in and it wouldn’t lock from the inside either. Because I couldn’t lock my home, he had to come back out, and he tried to explain to me that because of the age of the lock it really wasn’t his fault, but the paddle was slipping out-of-place. I had pointed out to him that maybe that wouldn’t had happened if he hadn’t put it on backwards. And weirdly enough, when he didn’t put it on backwards, it hasn’t had an issue since he serviced it a second time when he fixed what he put on backwards.
After AHS tried to charge me for him coming back out to fix his mistakes, I called back in and said, “Oh, nope, that’s not on me. I already lost half a day of work because of his mistakes.” Everything is totally fine now. But I wanted to talk to them because I can't get Home Depot to call me back. We had the carpets redone, and there is a board in the living room floor that creaks, which didn’t creak beforehand. It's like the tack strip is rubbing up against the granite underneath the fireplace. They kinda didn’t put it back together right. It was done by Home Depot, and I can’t get them to call me back.
We are glad the issue has been resolved pertaining to your re-key. As far as the carpet goes, that would not be a covered service.

I went through the website to file a claim as our heat wouldn't come on. Someone from Total Air Care came out and he looked at everything around. He said it was the thermostat and he changed it. That fixed it, so it went well. He was good and I was happy with his knowledge. However, we went through Home Shield and a different contractor came out to have the heating unit inspected prior to turning it on. So when the unit didn’t work, it surprised me that they didn’t catch it. I’m not sure exactly what that covered and I thought they would have checked everything out. Other than that, everything has been great since Total Air Care was out and I hadn’t had any issues with the heating. Also, I have extended our coverage with American Home Shield for the second year.

The heater wasn’t working, so the contractor came out and fixed it. They dealt with my husband more than me, but they had to come back to fix it because they didn’t have the part. They had to order the part or get the part from their shop, and the heater is running right now. The last problem was sporadic but we have heat, so that’s good. The technicians were great and awesome. They were very all business, came in and did the work. They put the shoe covers on, and they talked to my husband and explained what the part was.

There was a leak in the faucet and a faulty drain plug in a bathtub. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The website was good. It does not allow for much detail though, which has been a problem. There wasn’t a problem with this ticket. I was able to talk to the people. But if there was an additional place for at least free-form text, that would be much more helpful. But they confirmed who my contractor was and said that they would contact me within 24 hours. Prime Plumbing Services came out and we had an excellent interaction. They did go over what had to be happened. Everything has been performing very good now.
We’ve had American Home Shield before, but we've had them for three years at this specific location. They’re helpful sometimes, but not all the time. And we may not stick with them longer. We’ve had denial of claims this year that weren’t really clear in the contract. They were implied in the contract, and then once the person got here, they denied it. Prime Plumbing Services did a great job, but we've had multiple instances where the people never called us and I had to hunt them down to get the appointment. We also had multiple instances where we had to cancel tickets, remove the fee, because of no-shows, and then get a new ticket. That was an air-conditioning in the heat of the summer when I got no assistance from AHS and had to spend a lot of time getting that resolved. So not the best experience this year, overall.

Top Notch Plumbing was excellent. They’ve been out to my house a few times. They were excellent. I just bought the house back in March, and we kept getting a leak. And we’re like, “What in the world?” Well, we had copper piping here. So, the plumber that came out – so, they came out and we’re like, “Oh, my gosh. What is going on with the leak that keeps occurring?” And so, he told us, kind of advised us on, “Okay, well, you guys are on well water, which is hard water, and so, because of the copper piping, it’s all it’s gonna do. This is gonna keep happening.” And so, he informed us of that. So then, my fiancé went ahead and we just re-piped the whole house, my fiancé did. And it was the same guys that came out before when we had a leak with our water heater as well. And so, again, with the water leak. And so, he told us that. And then, he fixed the water leak or said that it was unfixable or whatever, the case was. And so, just great, just excellent service.
When I submitted the claim, that experience was good. I’ve never had a bad experience at all with American Home Shield. Well, my first experience, there was kind of the same issue or the same call or whatever. Because I had all these different leaks going on in my house, there was a mix-up. And so, it was not Top Notch. It was another plumbing company, and they were very, very rude. I think it was A Plus Plumbing, possibly, and they were very, very rude. Very rude. And to be honest, the confusion was on my end, but I had no idea until we figured it out, obviously. And so, just very, very rude, A Plus Plumbing was.
As American Home Shield, I would not use their services for your customers anymore. When I talked to their representative, he was very rude to the point like, as a female, you know when another female is coming at you shady or just not being nice. You just know. And so, she was coming at me like that. And so, I had all these different claims with you guys for these different plumbing issues that I had. And so, that was a mix-up on my end.
And so, from talking to the plumbers with Top Notch, when I was talking to an A Plus representative or receptionist, whoever she was, and she to an attitude with me. And I was like, “Whoa, wait a minute. I talked to Mike or whatever his name was, your guys' plumber. And he told us to be here at such and such time.” And so, I guess with her, because it was with a different company, we weren’t here at the time with her for her plumbers. But I was all confused on what plumbers were coming out.
And so, very, very rude. And apparently, I got off the phone, and I thought I was already hung up, and I said some choice words. And so, then, she had like her supervisor or one of her leadership at the plumbing call me and informed me that he listened to the call, and blah blah blah, and it was very unnecessary. And I was like, “Really?” But I get it. It was just a bad situation. But I would not have them do service with you guys anymore. I shouldn’t have said what I said. And it was very unprofessional on my end ‘cause I also am a worker. But at the same time, “Your gal, your receptionist, called me.”
Don’t come at me and pull the female thing with me. No. And then, come to find out it was my problem, my mistake. I’m sorry. And then, have your leadership call me and tell me that was unacceptable? No kidding. I was like, “Oh, no.” But then, once I figured out ‘cause Mike did come out from A Plus Plumbing and just took care of the whole situation, he was like, “No, this is what’s going on with the water heater and blah blah blah and whatever the case was.” And it got resolved. So, I don’t wanna push it any further. I was like “Okay, whatever.” But yeah, so that was kind of a mess. I wouldn’t do work with them anymore if I was you guys.

It was very easy to submit the claim and it took about a week for someone to come out and do the rekey. It was right at Christmas time, so the holiday kinda delayed it a little bit, but that was to be expected. I didn't find it unreasonable. The contractor that they sent out did a fabulous job. He was great.

I submitted a claim for my HTG to American Home Shield and their contractor came. They replaced the Freon in the unit and the heat started working. My issue was fixed. We’ve been satisfied with the claims that we’ve had with AHS so far. We've had several with them. Within the first month of having the policy they had to replace our whole air conditioning unit. Having this warranty is well worth the money that we’ve spent on it.

My wife and I bought the house in 2001. We’ve been maintaining the American Home Shield warranty for years. The house was built in 1980 and it had a 101 feet deep well. J & J Pumps had come out in 2013 and had relined the well. They had a prognosis that the well pump had to be replaced and the claim was submitted to American Home Shield. AHS wanted a second opinion and it was taken care of by a different contractor. When I was talking to the lead technician with the other contractor, he made a discouraging remark regarding the practices of the practical application of doing a well cleanout and he inferred that changing pumps would make an error, which I found to be quite distasteful. In terms of professional standing with a client where you're working on something that’s as important as a well, I’m going to pay attention to how you talk about your competitors or other outfits in the area.
I had a personal preference to work with J & J Pumps and I was very comfortable with them. Also, my wife was very clear that she did not want to deal with the other contractor. So we had J & J Pumps cleaen out the well before Thanksgiving. They used compressed air at the 80-foot level. They also went down to the 95-foot level and blew the sediment out of the well to clear out the well. The well has been performing wonderfully since then. They also used extra-strength bleach to shock the well to kill off as much bacteria as possible.
When we had the well relined, the flow of water went up dramatically and it resolved our issue. But the bacteria came back with a vengeance. The well that the pump sits in has iron bacteria. That’s a maintenance issue. So getting the whole well cleaned out like we did is really important. It’s worked immensely in the flowing water because it was so cramped down from the sediment that had accumulated because of the presence of the iron bacteria. Groundwater is groundwater, no matter where you live. Right now, things are doing really well with the water system and we are very happy with the service that has been provided by J & J Pumps.

We have a double stove and the upper wasn’t heating correctly. We submitted a claim with AHS and they sent out Sears. They had to replace a motherboard and after they did that, we found out that the heating element was bad as well and they didn’t catch that on the first run-through. But when they did their checks, they found out about it. Other than that, we have AHS for 10 years now and filing claims with them has been really easy. Everything has gone smoothly and I’ve never had any complaints. And their process is kinda nice, so I don’t have to worry about it too much. Aside from that, all of the contractors they have sent out have been very good and very knowledgeable. They were on time, usually pretty accurate, and for the most part, we’ve ever had any bad experience at all. The contractors that AHS use also seem to be very well-respected and more than willing to take care of everything for us, so our experience has been great.

The refrigerator was dead. Home Shield sent GE Appliances for it, and my experience was great. The contractor came the next day, he changed the part and was really very fast. I had a bad experience with the air conditioning company though. They screwed me up on $1,500. They said they need this, they need that, but they didn't do anything. They forced me to pay out of pocket for some stuff. “We need to do this. We need to do the electrical. We need to do that.” I told them to leave it the way it was and they said they couldn't do that. I called Home Shield, and they said they were gonna give me about $300. What am I gonna do with $300? I don’t want the money. I just want the thing fixed. They replaced the coil on the air conditioner in the attic and that was it. But on top of that, I paid about $1,400. I was very upset about the issue. This time, the tech who came for the fridge worked very well, though.

The service from Caldwell was very prompt and convenient, and the technician was very much of a gentleman. It appeared to me that he knew what he was doing. So, I have high recommendations for that. We continue to stay with American Home Shield because they send out good companies like Caldwell. There was water leaking underneath the fridge and then we had that ventilator that wasn’t working properly. I submitted the claim through online and it was good. The website is convenient to use. After I submitted the claim, I received an SMS message which said who the company will be. Then the contractor, BRM Services, was good. I’m happy with Home Shield because I’m satisfied and they're good as well.

The ice maker on our freezer was not working. The ice in it was frozen up into a slab. We also had a dishwasher issue. The top tray and the wheels were not working and the whole tray would come down when I try to load or unload it. Also, our soap dispenser door was not working at all. The contractor finished up yesterday and brought the parts they ordered, but they didn’t fix all of the dishwasher parts. He left without showing my husband that so we didn’t notice it was still broken until he left. The contractor fixed the soap part, but the top thing is still coming off so we had to order more wheels.
Also, our freezer ice maker still doesn’t work, only part of it does. It makes the ice now and drops it into the thing, but it is still not coming out. We also had to order a separate part yesterday. I paid the $75 so I was a little bit frustrated. When we looked up the part they replaced, it was $100, which at least makes it worth the $75 deposit. My husband went on Amazon and some other appliance website and ordered the parts himself because we weren't gonna spend $75. Plus, it took over a week for the contractor to even come back with the parts. My husband also said that he wasn’t able to understand the guy.

Our most recent claim with AHS went beautiful. The guy was really nice because it was fixable. But if it was something that AHS needed to replace, they would have said no. They would have declined the claim. I did have another claim for my water heater and they declined it saying that it was a pre-existing condition. I talked to the person that came in from the company and he said they didn't use that word. They asked all kinds of questions and said he'd be back before New Year's to fix our water heater. He was saying I'm gonna need a new water heater and that’s why AHS won't do it. They charge you upfront and don’t fix the problem. They don’t care.
I was with Fidelity Home Warranty before. If it was something pre-existing, I would have made that claim. The only reason I changed Fidelity was I'm a real estate agent, and I wanted to try a different company so I can recommend it to my client. People complain all the time. Everything is pre-existing, and they blame it on the vendors but the vendors have nothing to do with it.
I had a really bad experience. I heard so many bad things too. Whenever I call AHS, they put me on the phone for 45 minutes and disconnect my calls. It's a disaster. I couldn’t cancel it because they were going to reimburse me only half of what I already paid. So, I decided just to keep it for now. I will never recommend AHS. Even some vendors told me that they are the worst because they don’t cover much. I was with a good company, so I am gonna go back to Fidelity with my other properties.

AHS is an honest and a fair company, and I will recommend them. I make claims online, which works for me. It’s pretty simple and I just submit any claim that I need. The contractors call me and we usually set up a date. For the two times that I’ve done it, I’ve had the same person and he’s fixed the problem. He’s very professional and he explains the problem. When my microwave was shorting and tripping my breaker, he had the part in his car, so he went and got it, put it in and it was fixed.

Our heater claim with AHS went very well. There was a part that failed. The technician that was sent out did a really good job. He found it right away and came back out on New Year’s Eve after five o’clock and took care of it. So, that was really nice. He was running late with other jobs in front of it, but he still came out. Everything has been working really well since then. We actually had two things replaced on the heater system. They came out and replaced one thing that was failing, and then it was about a week later that it failed again with this second piece of the hardware that failed. So, both times they came out and took care of it right away, tested the units and found the one that was failing, so no complaints with it. They did a really good job.

I was with American Home Shield for more than 10 years but I had a break and I came back last year. In my claim with regards to heating, the contractor called and came around on time. He replaced a part but after that, I saw that my heat was not coming up as fast as it used to. I called him and he told me to do some changes on the settings, which I did and it seems to be staying up.

Our furnace was not turning on and Weatherwise came out. Our furnace uses a condensation method and, somehow, the water had backed up into the furnace motor. And so, the contractor had to clean that out. And then, he also had to replace the part on the fan. He did a great job, and the furnace has been working great since. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield has been easy, and the contractors that they have sent out have been good. I'm telling people they should get it because there's so many things that can go wrong in the house, and AHS is a great product to have. It's totally worth it. So, even if we have a full year where nothing goes wrong, and all it takes is one thing and I feel like you get your money’s worth out of it. I recommend it to people all the time. I know there's several other brands out there, but we've always had American Home Shield and it's been fine, so I haven’t felt the need to shop it out or change.

The fan in our furnace was working but no heat was coming out. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they gave me a contractor. The contractor never called me so I cancelled the claim. I spoke to someone and reopened a claim. I had an awesome interaction with the rep I spoke with. Sometimes, it'd take a really long time to be on hold. But otherwise, she was wonderful. Most of of the contractors that they've sent out have been great, although I’ve had one or two that I would request not to have them sent out. The most recent was for some plumbing issues. He was a little frustrated as he had a hard time fixing or getting to some of the things that he needed to do. But it all got done eventually. He used a drain opener versus snaking it. He may have done that when I was not exactly in the room. He was very nice though, and he was not disrespectful at all.

I usually make claims over the phone at American Home Shield, and that’s always a pain ‘cause sometimes getting in touch with someone takes a little longer than I would expect. Still, I usually hear back from the vendor very quickly. Comfort First fixed my heater and they were great. I’m switching from my heat pump to gas and they’re here right now, installing that.

The contractor who came for my dishwasher was absolutely wonderful. Although he had to come back four different times, he wasn't gonna give up. He had to try replacing several different parts, but he finally said that I needed a new dishwasher. However, the time from when I submitted the claim until the new dishwasher was put in was quite a while because it was a Bosch dishwasher and one of the parts had to come from their factory.
I had an issue with the air conditioner though. It was 28 years old and every summer, we had to have somebody out. The last guy who came out was from Budget Heating & Air and he came out three different times within a month's time. I asked if it was beyond its lifespan and he said no. He no more than left it and it went down again. Budget Heating & Air never even bothered to call me back. I contacted AHS and said it was down again. They said I could have somebody else come out and take a look at it. I said, "Obviously. We need a new air conditioner." The guy wanted to argue with me and I said to just forget it. I had this insurance and just because Budget Heating & Air wouldn't call AHS, the insurance wasn't gonna help me cover the cost of a new air conditioner. I had to buy a new air conditioner and now, I'm out almost $4,000. I was not happy about that.

I have a home warranty with American Home Shield. It would seem that as the customer paying for a warranty for the protection of their systems in the home, the warranty company would stand with the customer who is paying them for their service to get the best value from systems that need to be repaired or replaced. However, that is not what American Home Shield does. American Home Shield allows the companies that they send out to make the repairs or replacements to escalate non covered charges so you end up spending an excessive amount of money on items that can be as much as two hundred percent cheaper. As an example, our gas package unit failed at our home in November. The non covered charges were over two thousand dollars ($2,000.00). When the repair company told me I had to pay this amount, I asked them why. They told me to call American Home Shield.
I called American Home Shield and they referred me back to the repair company for an explanation. I asked the repair company to email me an itemized list after American Home Shield referred me back to them for an explanation of the non covered charges. One of the items that was non covered was a permit from the county for which the repair company charged me $199.00. The actual cost for the permit with the county was only $10.00. I did not realize that it was that much until the county inspector came out and commented that it was only $10.00. I called the repair company back to request a refund because there is no justifiable reason that I had to pay $189.00 more for the permit. A twenty dollar thermostat was $127.00 and also an item that we did not need replaced. The repair company also charged $95.00 for a carbon monoxide monitor which can be purchased at a hardware store for $20.00.
The only refund that I was able to recover was for the thermostat and the carbon monoxide monitor for which I am still waiting to receive in the mail. American Home Shield does not protect you from these predatory price increases. They leave you stuck with dealing with these deceitful companies and there is nothing that you can do about it. I have recordings, emails and receipts for all that has occurred. I am searching for a better company to replace American Home Shield.

I placed a call that my old water heater was leaking and shortly after it began, completely inoperable. It took 6 days to get someone to come out to look at it, now I'm being told all they will do in the first appointment is diagnose it, then I have to wait another 2-6 days to have it replaced. It's a water heater. They are rarely repairable, especially after so many years of use. This should be common sense to just be prepared to replace the item in cases like this, and not make customers go up to two weeks with no hot water in their home during the winter especially! Very disappointed at the lack of concern and urgency in my first time using them for a major repair. I feel like I would have been better off not paying for the warranty, and just using the last 2 years worth of monthly fees to replace it myself, more quickly, for the same amount out of pocket.

I have a valid home warranty. Traveling internationally to come home to a broken furnace and 40 degrees in my home. When I called they opened a claim, but the service agent was too busy to come until the following week. They said unless it's an emergency, they would not do a after-hours service. I called AHS and they said unless it was in the 20s it's not an emergency. Now it was in the 30s. I called a new service agency and paid out of pocket. I called back to get reimbursed, and they refused. This is a scam!!!!

Our thermostat wasn't working, and the contractor company looked at it. They found out that it was due to when our electrician was out, he somehow half tripped the circuit breaker. My husband had checked the circuit breakers and they all looked good. But when the tech went, he pushed them all in and checked. So, it was just a minor thing and there were no replacements.

Our heat wasn’t working and it was something like the fire ignition starter, and the contractor from Myers knew exactly what it was when I explained it to him. He fixed it really quickly, and then he stayed and helped explain the Nest to me because I didn’t get it yet. He didn’t even make a mess. We had to call American Home Shield to file a claim, and their reps were good. Everything was fine. The only thing is it took a while to hear back from the people that were gonna come fix everything, and then it took another few days for them to come out. I understand it’s Christmas season. It’s really busy time of the year, but I wish that was quicker.

Our furnace wasn’t working at all. It exploded and the fan came completely apart. I put in a claim and Todd Poruba Heating came out the next day. They were quick on it, and the fan and the motor of the furnace got fixed. I was very satisfied.

The contractor from All Hours Emergency Plumber came and fixed everything we needed. He was good, friendly and described the issue in very much detail. We had several things. We had leaky faucets that were in the master bath, so he replaced the cartridge. And then, we had a stopper that wouldn’t stay up. He said it was a loose nut. He had to tighten up that whole assembly, and it works fine now. And then, there was the water diverters. He couldn’t do much without lubrication, but it’s working as well as it’s gotta work. I agree with him. I don’t ever see them work 100% where 100% of water is diverted, but I’m fine with it.
I had a friend refer American Home Shield to me. I picked them up this year. I have a pretty big house, and it’s 600 square feet. It’s a loss of opportunity. So, it’s better not to have these massive surprises. The house is now 12 years old. Now, we are selling it, so that was one of the reasons I had them out to do some of the stuff that we got through the inspection.

My three rooms were completely cold. There was no hot air coming. Then in my other room, there was too much hot air coming. So, a technician from South Placer came. He checked and said there was like two months guarantee. “If any problem, call us.” So, then we checked. Still, hot air is not coming so I called last week. He came yesterday. He checked and he said the condenser something maybe needed a clean-up. He is nice. I’m totally happy with American Home Shield. I’m very satisfied.

Pruitt’s Plumbing is terrific. They were the ones that came out after somebody else came out. The rep said, “I understand you’re having a problem with water pressure.” He looked for an outside spigot to measure my water pressure. It was 95 and he said that something had to be replaced and that he had the part with him. The man was courteous, kind and wonderful and since he came out, everything's been terrific. I have better water pressure throughout the whole house, and I don’t feel scared that I’m gonna blow up.
Most of the things that American Home Shield has done for me are fantastic and I love it. The only thing is that my dryer still isn’t done and I’ve been waiting for four weeks now. The technician's very nice, clean and does what he's supposed to do. He's supposed to be out today between 12:00 and 5:00, but he generally comes at about 4:50. Also, every time that man comes out, he comes in a regular car and tells me he’ll be back in 10 days to 2 weeks. He does a good job, but I’ve waited two weeks for him to come out then I have to wait two weeks again to get whatever it is. That I don’t appreciate. If I called somebody else to come out to fix something, it would be fixed that day or within two days.
For example, they’re telling me that they have somebody in Mesa. Where I live is Anthem which is in the foothills and is the farthest north that you can go next to New River. So, somebody coming out from Mesa would be a round-trip drive for him with over 100 miles, 52 miles each way. And depending on where in Mesa they are, it could be 60 some miles. American Home Shield needs a better system if they're dealing with any area throughout the country that would give a better outlook for their representative to assign work orders to. ‘Cause the first thing I’ve learned is, “Tell me where these people are so then I can look them up and tell you who I want to come out.” They gotta get closer like Glendale or Peoria which are in the vicinity.

There was a pipe leaking under the slab, and I got Robco Enterprises to work on the plumbing. That’s the first time American Home Shield sent people who knew what they were doing. They were professional, pleasant, and really nice and good. They did a great job and were unbelievable. I was happy with them.

The central heating was making a loud noise and the heating went out at Christmas Eve. I usually call in to file a claim. It's easier for me since I'm 72 years old, and their customer service representatives have been great. Vail Heating and Cooling came out and realized they had to order a part. It was four days later when the parts came in. The tech was great. I have a heat now. My experience with American Home Shield was great. We've always had good rapport with them when we have a problem.

I called American Home Shield to submit my claim. I like calling in because I like talking to a live person. AV Hawaiian called within the day and they came out to check my pool motor pump. The interaction with the guy was great and wonderful. He was nice, helpful and gave me pointers. He was very good and I told my other friends who have pools that AV Hawaiann is where they need to go. They should call these people. The guy was contracted with AHS but if they didn’t have them, I would recommend him anyway.

I've had American Home Shield since June of last year. This last claim with our garage door cost me and I wasn’t aware that it wasn’t gonna be covered. AC Overhead Garage came out and fixed it, but I had to pay for the whole amount. They said it wasn’t covered under my policy because it wasn’t the garage door opener, it was the actual door. He said that the garage door itself wasn’t covered, just the garage door opener. And it had nothing to do with the opener. So, even though I paid $100, I paid him $300 and something dollars to get it fixed. I believed what he said and I just paid him. .
The tech was fine. He was cut-and-dry as far as what needs to be done, and I hadn’t read the fine print because I would have known that the actual door wasn’t covered, and that it was just the garage door opener. I really needed to get it fixed. Obviously, I can’t keep dragging the garage door up and down. I’ve only had one other claim, when I had an air conditioning problem, but a tech came out and fixed it right off because there wasn’t anything wrong. The switch had just been pulled. So, he pulled the switch and everything was fine.

The house was cold and AHS fixed the issue. The contractor was very knowledgeable and conducted himself in a professional manner. He was a nice guy. It was friendly service. Everything was pretty fast from the time we filed the claim to actually somebody knocking on my door. So we really appreciated that because we didn’t have heat.
I’m glad we had AHS because we filed a claim for the plumbing and the HVAC unit as well. And there’s two more items but we don’t even know if it’s worth the $75 that we’ll have to pay. When the microwave that came with the house went out and then also the old dishwasher was leaking, I'm thinking maybe we would just get a new dishwasher instead of paying $75 to get it fixed, but that’s on the house itself. As far as American Home Shield they have been great. Submitting the claim was smooth. We didn’t have any problems.

Air Technical came out for some kind of board on my heater. I ended up having to call them because they were supposed to call me but they never did. They came out then they took care of it. Everything works good now. At this house, I've had American Home Shield since July, but I’ve had them way a lot before that. It’s convenient.

Some of the service technicians are kind of questionable in the whole quality of service they provide. I feel that oftentimes, they come back to fix the same things over and over again. They fix something for it to last 30 or 90 days, and then it breaks again pretty quickly. But American Home Shield as a company is great. DJ’s HVAC Services came out recently for a heater and everything went fine with it. They were a bit strange but the problem was so simple that it was solved.

The Oasis Plumbing was the assigned contractor in our latest claim and it was great. They were very friendly and wonderful. The only thing is, I still don’t feel like it’s going a 100% after they were all done and said. But we’ve already had them come out again and they checked it and said, “No. It’s going like it’s supposed to.” We have been with American Home Shield for a long time and we keep their service as I only have to pay a deductible when they send someone out. I'm very satisfied with them.

Maye’s Plumbing & Heating came out for a plumbing service and everything went well. However, the contractor had to cut a hole in our ceiling so that way he can check for two weeks to see if it was still leaking. Somebody was supposed to come out and fix it, but they never came and it’s been three weeks now. Other than that, the service is good. I already reached out to AHS and they already are handling it for me.

It was my first time that I had to use the warranty. I submitted the claim over the phone. The rep was very nice and informative. And then Lake Area Appliance came out and they were awesome. The gentleman was really nice. Our claim went really well, but now, I'm just stuck on how do I order the item. I received the email as well. But I'm afraid to place the order because the representative that I spoke with at American Home Shield stated that when the gentleman came out he basically measured the item, and where I'm stuck is that because when he measured it, I wasn’t sure if he measured with the way that it is right now or if he just measured the microwave, because the way that the microwave is right now, made back in 1987, it has a shelf that it's built-in to on the wall. And I'm just wondering, looking at newer homes, I don’t see that shelving anymore.
So, should I order the size that’s recommended or should I go up a size or two? Because I think no one is doing that anymore since it's an old microwave. I asked the rep because the size that they recommended for me is a 1.6, so we're talking about a lot of space in between, if there's no shelving to go with that. Right now, it looks pretty uniform. But I'm just wondering if I don’t get a large enough size to fit that space, what happens with all of that space behind it? It's just so scary. It's like, “Okay. Do you order this 1.6 and wonder, ‘Okay. What's gonna happen with all this large space around it?' Or do you order a 2.1?”

We've lived in three different states and we've had American Home Shield since we were in San Rafael, which was 2001. So far, we've had good luck with them which is why we've had them for so long. I just don't like that now they automatically charge my credit card when I set up a service call instead of waiting until the service call happens. And I had to cancel a service call once, and then it was a hassle to try to resolve that. When we had a heating issue, they sent a tech from MS Services and he was very good. He arrived on time and figured out what was wrong, and fixed it. He was great.

In my prior claim, I had some issues reaching out to the contractor assigned to my problem and it was really tough to get a hold of somebody. But in my recent claim, automatically, somebody from Appliance Care contacted me the same day when I opened the request. That was awesome. Then, the guy came out and he was professional. He resolved my issue and everything was fine. So, if I can get more experiences like that, that would be good. Also, submitting claims to AHS is the easiest part. I like the fact that I can do it online and don’t have to worry about having cash on hand when the guy comes since I can pay online as well, which is great.

Everything went very well with my recent claim with AHS. It was my refrigerator. There was the flap that had to be replaced because the door would not shut properly. The contractor came out. He had to go back and get the appliance, which we were so grateful that they had it in stock. So he came right back and put it in and it was fixed in no time. We were so glad that the part did not have to be ordered and we did not have to sit and wait on something to come in for it to be replaced. Each time we’ve had to call in a claim to AHS, they responded properly. And any time we’ve submitted a claim, they gave us a reference, whoever to contact to come out and service the items, and usually, they come out right away. We’ve had no problems with American Home Shield in getting things resolved here.

I started to do my claim online, but it was limited. It wouldn't let me put everything I wanted to put, so I called and I spoke to someone. I submitted claims for a few things, including a bathtub, two toilet bowls, and a sump pump. Clog Busters came out, and they did a great job. They were efficient, and they definitely knew what was going on. They had to order some parts and get approval for some parts and go pick them up. They came back and fixed all the issues in about two hours.
I have researched a couple of warranty companies before I went with American Home Shield, and these companies get people to help them and they take too long. All little companies that do that kind of work use outside contractors who actually do the work. There was somebody who had some experiences with one company where the people lived in another state, and they took too long. But American Home Shield didn't have any of those concerns. Their people were local and got to you quickly. Every time I've used them, they've gotten some local companies. And the people they work with seemed to be pretty efficient.

Everything went fine with the pool and spa claim, but the ductwork never got done. The very first people that came out for the ductwork was Total Air Care. They came out twice or three times, and each time, they said there was nothing that they could do because they didn’t have the equipment to fix what needed to be fixed or either check what needed to be checked. So American Home Shield finally sent out Crain’s. As soon as the guy got out of the truck, he said, “I understand it’s your ductwork. We’ve been having a contract with American Home Shield for over seven years and they’ve never paid for ductwork to be fixed.” But I told him that I have that in my service agreement. So if it’s a problem with it, it needs to be fixed. He said that he would go up and look at it but he repeated that they have never paid for it.
The guy from Crain’s went up and he told me that there was no way for him to even look at certain things. I told him that couldn’t be true because Total Air said they adjusted it. He told me again that I didn't have it since this is a older model house, and they didn’t put that when they built this house. He added that the ductwork needed to be replaced but American Home Shield is not gonna fix it. But I put in another claim for it, and American Home Shield requested Crain’s to come back out, but he never did come back out. They sent a thing to American Home Shield stating that I never answered my phone which was not true. When I got that, I called Crain’s, I left the guy a message, and I told him to have someone call me or come out. And that’s been since December 18th, right before the Christmas holidays. I’m very dissatisfied with that portion. But as far as the pool and spa, that was fixed. They took care of what they need to take care of.
American Home Shield has been great. They try to take care of what they need to take care of. American Home Shield hasn’t been a problem. I’m satisfied with American Home Shield, it’s just certain companies that they’ve sent out. When I had the air condition people come out, they damaged my whole ceiling, and I had to put an insurance claim on because they wouldn’t fix it. So I’ve had some companies that American Home Shield had sent that has done more damage than they have done to fix things.

I've always had good service with American Home Shield. And you could not ask for a more compassionate person than the contractor who came to fix my oven and stovetop. After he fixed my oven, my dog died right in my arms. He took me to the vet, stayed with me and then brought me back. You cannot ask for anybody to do any more than what that man did. He also said I had 60 days to have him come back. So far, one of the burners has been slow to heat up, but it heats up and it's working.

I had a leak in the ceiling of my living room and when I spoke with someone from American Home Shield, they gave us the name and the number of a contractor. I was told that we would be getting an email, which we did. But the plumber couldn’t come that day. It was gonna be the following week. This was right before Thanksgiving, plus it was a good leak so, we called back and AHS expedited the claim for us and got somebody out right away. The contractor was really nice and told us what was going on and explained it to us. He had to fix the connection on the pipe and everything has been functioning perfectly since. My experience with AHS has been professional and very good.

The gas furnace wouldn’t come on, and it has been the striker plate for the last 3 years. Somehow, it seems to wear out in one year now and they keep just replacing the striker plate. I submitted the claim through the computer and it’s been very easy. The response time was great as well. Air Technology was assigned and they're a different company than I’ve ever had before. They were great. They called, came right out, and fixed the furnace. They also called back the next day to make sure that I was satisfied, so they were very good with follow through.
Now, for the plumbing problem I had the month before, I got a terrible company. The plumber came out and I told him that the shower was leaking from the center bathroom and it was getting the carpet wet in the master bedroom adjacent to it. That was how they realized something was wrong and that there was a pipe leaking. It took him a day or two to go out there and then when they did, they said they didn’t have the right equipment and that no one told them they needed to bring the leak detection equipment. That was crazy ‘cause I even talked to him directly when they called me to set the appointment and I told him that.
So then, they said they couldn’t come back till 3 or 4 days ‘cause it was coming up to a weekend, and I said, “That’s not acceptable. This is a leak, it’s causing us damage.” And so, they finally got back out another day later on a Friday. Then, the following Monday or Tuesday, they told my tenants, “Just don’t use the shower. It wouldn’t leak anymore,” but they could still use the water in the bathroom.
Yet they didn’t come back out till I had to call. And I had to call and call. I couldn’t get anything from the plumber that actually came out to say what happened. Nobody got back to me on Monday. Finally, on Tuesday, I got a hold of American Home Shield or someone anyway, and it took them whole day. They also wanted me to pay $1,300 and some because they said they’re gonna jackhammer the cement floor in the master bedroom to get to the pipe, under the shower, and etcetera. American Home Shield would only pay 500 for a pipe and cement, and I had to pay the rest. It was like $2,000. But they couldn’t get back to it.
In the end, I got it fixed by my own plumber. I got someone out that day, examined it, and said they’d come back the next day. They actually came back that afternoon, they fixed it, and it was within the $500. The plumber from American Home Shield was asking over 2,000 and they were just awful. I even had to hold for an hour to reach them, and then they would promise they would call me back, but they wouldn’t call me back. They were terrible and I would never use them again. It was a really negative experience.
American Home Shield should really look at that vendor and that contractor to see if they ever want to use them again. I wonder if there are other people having that kind of problem and if they give them the feedback. ‘Cause I’m retired so I have the time to give the feedback. Usually, I have very good experiences. So, I’m usually pro-American Home Shield even though I’ve had some experiences that were not as good. There was once a contractor who took 3 weeks to get our dryer fixed, which was way too long, and he kept coming out with different parts. So, I’ve had some vendors that I rated with a 2 or 3, but that plumber was the worst.

My brother and my sister have American Home Shield and they've never had a problem with the service. I tried a cheaper company for about a minute and they screwed me on the first time I called so I was done with them. I should've paid the extra money and went for American Home Shield first. Now, I have them too and they did me right the first time I used the service. I set up an appointment and everything went like it was supposed to. I got someone out, who was really cool and he found the problem. He found another problem that American Home Shield didn't cover, but that wasn't their fault. The guy ordered the parts then came out and fixed it. He was great.

We were with Choice before and I didn't like the way they handle things. They seem to deny more claims than they should have and they would get people that were just totally out of the area to come over here. Somebody who's 50 miles away shouldn't have to make a call in Leland. So, we switched to American Home Shield and we've had them for 5 years already. They have been very good about covering what seem like a lot more than what other people had and are easy to deal with. In a recent claim, they sent Steven A Mills Plumbing for our water heater and everything went very well. He came and replaced a small part on the top of it there, and it seems to be working fine. My husband was the one that interacted with him and he found that it was a good job.

The AC was running, but it was only running cold air. I submitted my claim over the phone and it was easy. The guy from Max Air Heating and Cooling was very pleasant and patient. He called us that the was on his way, but we ended up being a little late -- we thought we were going to be back to the house before him. He was still very professional and very attentive to our needs. He was very patient, too. He did something with the unit and he fixed it. It was taken all in one day. Everything was great with American Home Shield.

Clifton Heating came out to repair my heating problem. It took 24 hours for them to come out, but they told me that ahead of time. They were very polite, knowledgeable, got the job done and were gone. I did the claim at American Home Shield online and it was surprisingly easy.

So far, we've had good experience with the people that they’ve sent. The tech from The Appliance Guy was very cordial and knew what he was doing, and it turned out to be something else that we needed to get. There was a problem with the dryer, but there was also a problem with the dryer vent so we ended up having to get a vent cleaner in as well. But he did fix the dryer. It would be nice though if American Home Shield covers dryer vent things in the house as well as dryer vent cleaning. Also, if we need to submit for more than one thing, I feel like we have to call since you can't do multiple ones.

The hot water heater went out so I called American Home Shield. They said, “Parrish Plumbing is the outfit that does the work.” I thought they would call them, but they didn’t. So, I called the plumber myself and left a message. It took 30 hours from when I called until he got here and fixed it. He was great. He was very professional, very courteous and very prompt. That experience was very impressive, but my experience with American Home Shield was lacking. I’m paying them 500 bucks a month and they didn’t do anything. I had to call the contractor myself. They paid for the hot water heater though, which is what they’re supposed to do under the contract. Also, I've had AHS for two years and I haven't received any paperwork or contract in writing. I’ve had to look it up online. I would sure appreciate it if there's one that I could go to to look at without having to look it up online.

Last week, we had Budget HVAC come out to fix our furnace. They came right away and they were fantastic. They were super-helpful, super-quick, efficient and kind. Everything was wonderful. But the companies we had prior were awful. We switched home warranty companies because we were so frustrated with the company before. But we found out that the same company bought American Home Shield, so it was really the same company that we were trying to avoid. We didn’t realize that there was that merger until after the fact. But they don’t really listen as far as the input that we have given them time and time again.
I get that there are scammers out there and they have to check their company and their business. And people come jack up the quote, and I understand the real world. But they’ve sent so many incompetent companies who came and told us that they did not know what to do. We have a drain issue in the basement that still hasn’t been fixed. They sent the same company two or three times and they never showed up. When they didn’t show up, they said they were coming two days later, but I never got a phone call that they were coming. When we contacted American Home Shield to say that it was not working for us, they said, “This is who we have to use.” And they weren’t budging off of using this company.
Then, the company came again, did not fix the problem, but told American Home Shield that it was fixed. So, it was a whole another ordeal just to get somebody else out here again. We went our own private way, to use, like by word-of-mouth, a friend of a friend that owns the company. We had them come out. The contractor told us what was wrong, what he could do and how much it would cost. So, we have to save in order to do that. We called American Home Shield again to see if maybe they can send another company. It was a kind person this time who we spoke to.
So, they sent a different company out. Same issue, the company never showed up. It was unreal. My husband was losing it with the rep on the phone. They would put my husband on hold and then call the company again. And my husband was like, “How many chances are we gonna give this company? If they didn’t show up, they didn’t call, the job didn’t get done, we move on. And we understand that there’s a protocol, and they have to go about it a certain way.
Finally, they sent the third or fourth company here, which ended up being the person we hired on our own.It’s so frustrating that we have to do everyone else’s job. So, we’ve been very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and how they go about finding these outside providers, and the chances they give. They'd say, “Okay, we’ll call and set up another appointment.” That's not acceptable and it’s not like we live out in the middle of nowhere where that’s the only choice of companies to use.
American Home Shield should listen to their consumers a bit more. If they are so confident and headstrong in these companies, then have the consumers take pictures and send it. If they're saying the job isn’t fixed, then maybe they need more proof because now, another two weeks go by. We’re waiting. We don’t know what’s going on. It just seems like a major lack of communication or the company that they are using are a bit incompetent. Maybe it’s to save a buck or it’s just the luck of the draw. It’s quite unprofessional.

For our plumbing issue, Heros Plumbing Service came in, diagnosed the problem and repaired it. They did a very good job. They’ve been here many times before so I’m quite familiar with them and even their technician. The one they sent had been here before over the years. So, it was a good relationship. We've been with AHS for a long time and the contractors they use so far have all been good. I have no problem with that. Everything is really good. The only problem we have with American Home Shield is if something can’t be repaired and needs to be replaced, the wait can be a long time.
We went through a couple of months trying to get a microwave oven and the washing machine went and they were gonna replace it but it took a while. If they have made their decision that they’re going to replace something, they should replace it in a timely manner, not drag it out. The microwave oven went for nearly three months. And they kept getting parts and getting parts, but the guy kept saying the same that it couldn’t be fixed. He kept getting the wrong parts. They had to reorder it, and that all took time. When he got the parts and they still weren’t right, he went back and ordered again. And then when he got them and he put them in there, the thing still didn’t work and it went on and on. And one day he told me he should just go to Walmart and just buy one out of his pocket and put it in here and be done with it. That was how he felt about the experience. It was really a drama.

I got AHS by recommendation from family members, and they have been very good. The most recent claim I had with AHS was for a washing machine. There was a leak inside the machine. The washing machine was almost half full of water. I had to let the water out before I could wash. I called Home Shield, and they gave me GE Appliance's number. I requested a date, and the rep gave me the date and she said from 1 to 5. AHS also sent someone to fix my stove and the contractors were professional. The stove is now doing very good.

We had American Home Shield when we first moved in the house and then, we didn’t have them for a couple years. This will be the second year, but it will be the third time we’ve had a contract with them. I did the claim once through online but I usually call and talk. Right after I contact them, they would send an email saying who the contractor would be and they would tell me on the phone that I’ll be contacted within a certain period of time. When the water heater wasn’t getting hot, I called. There were a lot of costs that weren’t covered, but they explained that and I have a water heater that gets water hot, so I’m happy with that.

American Home Shield needs to have persistently good vendors. I've had them for a while now and I also have a couple of homes which were with them prior. I have some good experiences and some bad experiences. I had an issue with my water heater in my other home and the contractor came out. The guy who was there wanted to sell me his own product, so I wasn’t happy. I called another person on my own and paid him, and he came and just fixed it. In another claim, At Your Pool Service came out right away and fixed the problem then left. So, that was a good one.

One day, my wife smelled gas at the cookstove. I called Home Shield to get somebody to come out. They sent Fleming Appliance Repair. We called the gas company and left the stove off until the tech came to fix the stove. He came the next day, fixed it and then there was no more gas smell. I've had AHS for at least three years and I'm satisfied so far. Everybody that I know has also been satisfied with them.

The pump was out and it cannot provide enough pressures. I had to lower the pressures down so that I can set it off. Our claim where Nicholson Drilling came out went very good. I like the guy and I also like that American Home Shield approved the right part to be replaced. But I forgot if they put the fitting, so there is a small leak. It's wet when they put together the pumps, so I did not see that dripping. But, after a week, I saw the floor still wet under one of the pipes that they put the brand-new part. So, I will call the guy back. In my home, I also recently made a claim on the furnace. It was not running, and their guy came out and replaced the right part. It has been running very good.

I submit my claims over the phone and we’ve been happy with American Home Shield on all of our claims. There were two things that we had a little problem with and the gentleman who came out couldn’t seem to find the problem with either one of them. The refrigerator corrected itself but it went completely out on us and we were not happy that the tech just glanced at it and said that it was working now. The other was a burner on the gas stove. If you turn it on a couple of times close together, it won't come back on on its own. You have to light it with a match or wait for a little while. The tech gave us some crazy explanation that didn’t make sense. AHS sent Rescue Your Air for our heating issue. They had been here before and had done a good job.

I spoke with somebody at American Home Shield when I had some bad ceiling fans in my house, and they said they had a new contractor, Georgia Boy, that was rated high. The tech did a great job and went out of his way to help me. He was better than all of the other contractors that have ever come. There was another one from Total Air that was really good too. The HVAC guy diagnosed a problem that everybody else kept missing. It was a short in one of the wires that was very hard to find, and he found it.

A few hours after I filed a claim online, I got an email notification that someone would contact me. Then a few hours later, Prime Plumbing contacted me. The toilet was running and they replaced a part in it. The guy had the part in his truck so he was able to repair it that day. He was also really nice and very informative. I've had American Home Shield for a couple of years now and I haven’t had any problems with them at all so far. I have 3 properties with them.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for an appliance repair. A tech from Active Appliances came out on the first call. He wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t smile and he was just very cold-acting. I explained that to American Home Shield. People are who they are, but when you’re spending money, you want someone that’s cordial, professional and pleasant, and I didn’t get that. I described to him the issue with our dryer. He fixed it really quickly. All he did was he just blew the dust out of it. A couple of weeks later, it started the squeaking again. I called AHS and the same guy came back out again. He said the issue was that it wasn’t doing it when he came out. I said, “It’s for sure doing it because we have recordings of the noise.”
The tech said, “I’m gonna file an insurance claim and then someone will get back with you.” Nobody ever got back with us. As a matter of fact, I don’t even think they even had an order for anything, which makes me wonder, what happened to the paperwork that he was supposed to have submitted for some kind of insurance claim? I called AHS and said that I already paid the $100 deductible for the tech when he came out, but he didn’t fix it. Same symptom, same problem. They waived the $100 and I told them not to send Active Appliances and to send somebody else, because I don’t wanna deal with them anymore. They sent out Edward, the tech from All Valley Appliances. He looked at it and said, “I know exactly what it is. It's your pulleys, your belt. I see this all the time with older Maytag.” He was very friendly and very nice. He ordered the parts, came back three days later with the parts and fixed it. Everything is perfect now.
That was what I expected out of the first contractor but I didn’t get it. For whatever reason, it seemed like they were trying to shortcut the issue, not really research it and find out exactly what the problem was. The tech did the quickest thing that he could think of to try to resolve the issue then, but it was a temporary fix. When you’re paying 34.99 a month, plus every time you call for service, you pay $100 deductible, I want things fixed. It’s that simple. Just do your job and I’m happy. When Edward came out to fix it, he didn’t say anything about an insurance claim. He said, “I don’t have it on my truck. I’ll order the parts for you. I should have them in a few days.” He came back out within a couple days, record time, and fixed it. So, I’m concerned why did one guy said he had to go through some insurance claim process when Edward from All Valley Appliances didn’t mention anything like that?
The process should be the same with the services that American Home Shield uses no matter who is doing the work. With that in mind, I need to see how it will be handled if we have another claim for something. Because I had to cost them a significant amount of time on the phone explaining the situation. It’s stressful, it’s nerve-wracking, especially when you’re spending money. If I’m spending a monthly fee and if I have a situation, I make an appointment, they come out, I do my part. I'd pay $100 deductible, but I want it done right. And when I see that occurring multiple times, then I feel like American Home Shield is offering a good service. But right now, with the experience that we’ve had so far, I’m not sure.

It was wintertime and my furnace would not heat. We called right away to submit the claim to American Home Shield, and they were able to send out Heritage Air & Heat quickly. The individual was great. The issue was a sensor that he had to clean and he did it right away. It got taken care of quickly. Overall, everything went fine.

They kicked in the service when I made the call. The installer let me know that they were gonna be by and when they were gonna be by. They came by with the new microwave and took out the old one, and put in the new one. It took them an hour and a half or two hours. Most construction guys make a mess, but these guys didn't and what little they did, they cleaned up.

We bought our home in July and the seller got American Home Shield for us. She knew that the air conditioner was not very good and she didn't wanna be bothered with it. The air conditioner then went out within two weeks and we ended up having to replace it. But that went great. I've also submitted a claim because the light went out on my oven, and the contractors sent out were very courteous. We bought the light and the cover hoping to do this and they had it fixed. Everything was done within five minutes. It was terrific.

The service was gonna be at a later time and it was during the winter, so we were without heat. Home Shield did an extremely fast job in trying to call Artech on our behalf to try to get it fixed. Artech got the unit to work and I'm back at my house again. So far, it's still working and I hope it stays that way, especially right now in the winter. Though they could have done it sooner, there are things that they have done for us that are still working. They did an amazing job and the problem was resolved.

I was with American Home Shield before for a number of years, and then somebody tried to tell me on their end that they couldn’t provide cash in lieu of a kitchen sink faucet that I wanted. It was a fairly new kitchen, and the one they wanted to put in did not match anything. I wanted to cash out, and they wouldn’t let me. So, I just went out and bought my own new one. That’s why I quit the last time. I’m sure they can cash out. They just had a customer service rep answering the phone that didn’t understand the rules. Clovis Heating and Cooling recently came for the air conditioner, and though they weren’t sure what they did would fix it permanently, they fixed it and there have been no problems since. The tech didn’t order the new part that he said would be needed in the near future, but he fixed it with a part he had on hand. In one visit, he was done.

The glass top on our cooktop was broken and I submitted a claim online through American Home Shield. Before, I had trouble reaching anyone online and I used to try and do the phone-ins. But now, the online version is much easier to use than it used to be. And American Home Shield is very busy these days, so it’s hard to reach a human when you call. For this claim, AHS assigned King's Appliances and someone contacted me after two days. The tech didn’t physically appear but he called and asked for the model number so that he could order the part. So, my wife got underneath the counter and got the model number out. Then I got a phone call early this week from American Home Shield saying that the part was no longer available and that they would have to replace the cooktop.
They also said that they would be sending me an offer of a new top, so I’m still waiting for that. I haven’t received anything but they said that once I get it, I can either accept what they have or I can use their service for an upgrade. Or I can go out and purchase one myself, have it installed, then send them the bill. But I will probably not do that because I know the company’s complexity.
Other than that, we have AHS since we moved into our house 10 years ago and so far, we had one other experience with a replacement. It was for our oven which they were unable to repair after about six months. But when the replacement showed up, the guy said that we ordered an oven that was too big to fit into its setting. He said that we could either accept it and put it in ourselves, or he could take it back and we'd lose it. My wife, who was the only one at home at the time, told him to go ahead and set it down. She also asked him to take the old oven down but he said they couldn't do that.
When I got home, I unpacked the oven and it’s exactly the same size as the old oven. I ended up self-installing it only to find out that I wasn’t allowed to do that. So, I had to uninstall it, and get an electrician to come over and reinstall it, which I had to pay for. I had to dispose of the old device myself, too. I was pretty unhappy with that whole situation and altogether, it cost me about $400 to get everything done. I also told my wife that she will not be home for the next one because it was obvious they took advantage of that fact. But despite that experience, overall, I am very satisfied with American Home Shield.

The freezer part was working, but the refrigerator part on the Samsung had stopped working and the temperature was 60 degrees up there. I called American Home Shield and they took what I told them and then they took my deductible. It was about four or five days before they could get to me though. I called on a Monday morning, and they couldn’t get to me till Thursday. Also, they couldn’t fix it immediately. They had to order a part, so it was another week before they could get back to me to fix it. We didn’t have a refrigerator for almost two weeks. But so far, it’s been great. I'm satisfied with what they did and how they did it.

We called AHS for our washing machine, because there was no hot water, and the lady we spoke with kept saying it was the water heater. She sounded like she was from another country and it was like the water heater was the only subject she knew. They kept sending people out to work on the water heater, and that went down two or three times before we ever got the situation sorted out. The contractor who then came out was wonderful. He did the work and cleaned up. I am a retired 30-year air force member and had lots of dealings with young men and women, and this guy was absolutely most courteous, professional and understanding. I even asked for him the second or third time we called.

Appliance Care came out for my washer which was not spinning. The tech was very knowledgeable, cordial and professional. At first, it seemed to be working, but I washed several clothes and when I got to the fifth load a couple of days later, it didn't drain again. I prayed and said, "Let's try this again." I washed them and then went through the whole cycle. Initially, I went back to go through the spinning cycle, and still, there was water at the bottom of the washer. So, I was a little disappointed. But when I went back to the cycle, it did eventually do that. I also attempted to call American Home Shield the other day about the dryer and no answer, so the online process works better.

When the water in the toilet kept running, the technician that came out did what he was supposed to do in a timely manner and left. However, I wish that the time from when AHS calls until somebody from the contractor contacts me was a little shorter. AHS says within 24 to 48 hours. This time, it was less than 24 hours but on previous occasions, it has been almost 48 hours. Also, when I've called them over the years, understanding the people on the other end has been a little difficult. I have always found myself asking them to repeat themselves because I couldn’t understand the first time. Aside from that, I've had no problems with AHS.

Our furnace heated the house, but all of a sudden, the blower went out and the furnace wouldn't heat. I needed somebody immediately. Mostly, AHS put it through in very fast. And then, I had to wait for the company to make sure 'cause they have other clients. So, it all was a good turnaround but at first, I was like, "Ah, I want it now." I really like the company that they sent out. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They're somebody that I would definitely use. As a matter of fact, I've had them come out for a check on my AC to make sure that everything was up to speed.
However, I wouldn't want some of the people that American Home Shield have contracts with. I've had the experience several times when something's gone wrong. And a lot of them don't have company cars or badges. It's like they’re running it off out of the home. And if you look them up online, they either have no stars or haven't had anything. AHS might wanna take the cheapest off and go with the next group. They really are iffy and I wouldn't want them in my house. They're not safe so I had to cancel several times, call back and ask for a different company to come out.

I submitted a claim online to AHS because I couldn’t get the light to come on, it was an electrical problem. Usually, when I submit a claim to AHS, the work’s done really fast. Sometimes, it’d be the next day but I think because of the date that I submitted, I didn’t get the contractors until that Monday, which was fine. Everything is fine now. My lights are working fine.

I told AHS' contractor to come out on Monday and they said that was okay and they would call me back with a time. But they came out without calling and so I had to reschedule. AHS ought to have their delivery people to be more accurate in communicating with the customer, so they can be at our home when our products are supposed to come. However, sometimes, AHS doesn’t have control over what companies they pick and if the people are professional or unprofessional. Other than that, everything was good. I like that I could submit claims on the phone after work. It doesn’t have to be during work hours. I could also do everything on the internet so that was cool.

We keep renewing with AHS because our house is getting a little older and our appliances are fairly new, but we feel like that it's a good thing to have for appliance and home issues. The only issue I have is when I call them. It takes forever to get service but other than that, they do a fine business. National Platinum Service came out for our most recent claim and they determined what went wrong with the appliance and that they needed a part. They told me that in a couple days, they would get back in touch with me and come out and fix the part, and sure enough, they did. They stayed in communication very well. They resolved the issue and the appliance is working fine now.

American Home Shield is a very reliable company. They quickly respond, and the contractor that they have on hand are very well-knowing with what they’re doing. They are well-recommended in the city too. Recently Wayne Hyde Plumbing came out. They say they would be here at 9 o’clock, and they showed up on time, and started working with the plumbing. They went through it and explained it to me, including everything they would be doing at the house. They fixed it and so far I have no issues with the plumbing.

Affordable Leak Detection came out and did a good job of getting me in as soon as possible and showing up when they said they were gonna show up. My only suggestion would be that once they leave the job, they communicate that the work has been completed or need continual work. We've actually had two work orders with them and in both times, I had to follow up with the office to ask if everything was done. They were competent though and they were great, very kind and professional when I followed up with them. It was a good experience, overall.

We've used American Home Shield twice since we've moved here and both times have been very good. The tech from ABNation was fantastic. The hot water part of the hot tub was not working, and he was able to diagnose the problem. He came in and had to wait for a part, but he got it done. It was a simple part, but it's not the kind that somebody would carry on their truck with them. He was able to get the part over the course of a week and come in and put it back in, and it works like a champ. I'd bring him back here in a second.

The guy that came out, Richard, did a fantastic job. And I appreciate him coming out. I've got bronchitis. I've been sick and that night, it was supposed to get cold. And it was cold, and it was hot, and my body was all kinds of crazy from the stuff I have. Richard not only came out, but when it didn't get done right, he came back. He thought he had it fixed, and then when he left, it quit working again. I figured, "Well, if he's closer, it might save him a trip again coming back tomorrow." I called him again and he said, "Yes, I'll come right by." And he came out and he worked on it until he finally fixed it. His demeanor was absolutely perfect. I can't say enough for his attitude. I've had a few of these guys that came out and it's like, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." This guy was nice. He was personable and got the job done. He was just real cool. I can't say enough for him.
I appreciate the girl on the phone that got it bumped up to Richard for him to come out. I know it's surely like a day or two just waiting but I was very sick and I told her. I hadn't heard back from AHS. They only said, "Wait, we'll give you a call." So, I called back just to make sure everything went through. But when the girl found out I was sick, she said, "Let me see what I can do." And she got it bumped up to an emergency. I can't say enough for what they did for me on that.

The LED light of the refrigerator went out. I called AHS and the Astro Appliance tech who they sent out was good. He knows when he looked at it, ordered the part, and came back and installed it. I had no issue with him and everything went good.

The upstairs heater was not working and I submitted the original claim three weeks ago online. Myers Comfort came out and fixed it, and after a couple of days, it quit working. I called them back that time because if I tried to do it online, they're gonna charge me the dollar again. And that was when they sent the other guy last week and he said that the whole furnace will need to be replaced. I asked how much will I pay or how much will they pay? He told me that I have to pay almost $1,500 to match with the city code. That was last week when I talked to American Home Shield and I never heard from them or from the Myers since then. Nothing has been taken care of. The heater is still not working, so the claim is still open.
The technician that was sent out was a good guy. I’m not sure why they told me it’s unfixable. If it was unfixable, why did the other guy who was just here say otherwise? What has changed between the two evaluation? I was thinking of getting another opinion or just find another contractor because I didn't understand what is the $1,500 to match the city code. I didn't know all these terms. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. American Home Shield has been good with us so far. They all have been responsive. I just hope it gets fixed soon.
We do appreciate the feedback provided and apologize there is an issue with the furnace. It is comforting, however to know the issue is being resolved.

I put in a claim for the first time and the process was very smooth. I called the contractor Metro Air Services on Monday and then they came out on Tuesday. The guy came out with the part that he needed. He fixed the heating issue. And 'cause I have two units, he saw that there was an issue with the second one but it was still working, and he said he would return to replace that part too and he did. It took him maybe two or three days 'cause he said he had to order that part, but while that was going on, I had no problem with my heating system. They knew what was wrong, they fixed it, and I had no problems since. It was fast and smooth. I had Choice before American Home Shield, and every time I called them for something, they kept telling me that it wasn't covered. So I got rid of them, and I went with American Home Shield and I've been satisfied. I've only put in one claim so far and I've had no issue.

When I was working with my Realtor, she gave me home warranty choices. She said essentially there were three carriers for that type of insurance in this area. She told me to go online, research them and see which one I like best. So, I did and I saw that American Home Shield has the best testimonial letters on the website. And I've been with them for a month now. Their claims process was kind of weird. I had just recently signed up with them so their rep called me to cover the parameters of the policy and what it covered. I said, "Let's use a real-life scenario. My toilet's clogged up and my garbage disposal sounds like it's gonna die." She said, "That's perfect. Let me pass you over to the claims department." They were great.
The plumbing problem resolved itself before CNJ Services got here. The second problem with the garbage disposal, the guy came in and stuck his hand on the garbage disposal and he pulled out the end of a pink roller that hold the pink roller on a thing. He said, "Let's see if that worked," and it did. The guy was super fast and super efficient. The people from American Home Shield texted me back and said, "That's not covered, but it's already done, so we'll just let it go."

American Home Shield's contracts are simpler to read and they've always done what they said they were gonna do. Recently the tech came exactly when he said he was going to, and he counted all the locks in the house. He was very knowledgeable. We have Pella doors, and he knew a lot more than I thought. He took each one apart, fixed everything and gave me new keys. Usually, people around here complain about the work that they gotta do, but this guy didn’t even complain.

The freezer stopped making ice and so National Platinum Service came out, looked at it, and ordered 2 parts. Then they came back and put the parts in, and now it’s working great. They were really good and did a great job. We had coverage with American Home Shield when we bought the house 25 years ago, and then we got them again and we've been with them for at least 6 years now.

The faucet in my shower wouldn't shut off all the way. AHS sent DFW Plumbing & Drains to service the claim I made. Now, the faucet shuts off alright but then the hot water doesn't engage all the way.

High Priority Plumbing and Services came out to fix a plumbing issue and everything was excellent. They got here quickly but there was an unusual part in the water heater that they didn’t have on the truck. The tech warned us that it could be Monday before he could get back. But they called me the next day and the woman in-charge there had sent somebody out to get the part, so they put it in the next day. They got it in faster than I thought and they did a great job. They were very customer-oriented. American Home Shield came with the house when we bought it in July. It's the first home warranty I've had and I will renew it. Their claims process was simple and easy to do. And when you’re only paying $79, that’s a good deal. It doesn't take too many problems before that’s paid for itself, although that’s the only problem we’ve had so far.

The garbage disposal just broke one day and it leaked water. We did a claim online, and American Home Shield’s response time was great. I was very happy with them and the technician. He wasn’t able to repair the disposal so he had to put a new one on, which he had with him, and is now working great. Overall, American Home Shield is doing a good job.

An AC & heating company was sent out to deal with my heating issue. The thermometer wasn't detecting and the wires were crossed, so the contractor fixed the wires and it was good to go. The work performed was excellent and American Home Shield has been very good.

The first company that American Home Shield sent out told me they couldn’t fix my electric issue. They needed to build a scaffold and would have to charge me all this extra money. So, I had to go back-and-forth with AHS quite a few times. They finally got me a secondary company to come out, who did well and had it fixed within two hours.

I did my last claim with American Home Shield online, and then the people from PJ Appliance called me the next morning. They were okay. However, they were slow in terms of the window of time. They said between 1:00 and 4:00, but they didn’t come till after 4:00. But for the most part, they did what they were supposed to do. Everything’s working fine now. I've been with American Home Shield for five years. Before, you could pay the people. Now, you have to pay them before the people would come out. It could be improved upon though.

We have AHS for over a year now and they do a good job. Their claims process is also pretty easy, straightforward, and very good. Recently, we had a plumbing issue and they assigned American Water Works to come out. I liked the fact that when we needed somebody, they wanted to come the next hour, unlike other companies. They were very good and very professional as well. The tech came on time, too. After he checked out the problem, he went and bought parts, then he came and fixed it right away. That was the best company we’ve ever had.

My plumbing problem started on a weekend, and the first time I called AHS was the week of Thanksgiving. The person was very efficient. She immediately sent me an email telling me Cleveland Plumbing & Gas would be out and gave me the phone number. I called them just to see what their plans were. They were here first thing Monday morning. So it really didn't take them long with the fact that it was right before the holiday.
Two people came. The first time there was only one person, and that was the day after Thanksgiving. And then we were away from home a week, and when we came back, we had the same problem again. And they sent two people. Once they cleaned the outside plug-out way before Christmas we haven't had a problem. They were all good and were very professional.

I usually use the website to submit claims and I’ve used it for multiple years. It's very easy to navigate through and then it lets me know when the contractor’s gonna respond to me and the approximate window when they will respond. When the claim is assigned to the contractor, they let me know who the contractor is and send me text messages and email. I had a dishwasher that was leaking and a refrigerator that needed a new control panel installed. Tarheel Appliance Repair was the assigned contractor and the service they provided was excellent. The technician was very professional and he performed the services flawlessly. He did what we needed them to do. At present, the appliances are functioning like brand new.
My overall experience with American Home Shield is excellent. I’ve had their services for a few years already and always have been satisfied. I had been provided their home warranty on a home purchase previously and when I purchased new homes. From our previous experience with them being assigned to us from a transfer of ownership, we then just continued to stay a customer with them. Now, we're on the third home that we’ve had them out.

Submitting claims with AHS is a really easy process, but I wish there was a better way to indicate the priority or urgency of a request. In our case, our furnace wasn't working and we had to call the provider, but they hadn't received the claim yet. It wasn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to have been able to indicate that it was an emergency request as opposed to having an issue with our oven's handle, which is a lower priority.
Also, they should have something to show the specific coverage plan. I often forget and I usually have to read through the documents to see if something is covered. For example, I had to put in a claim about exterior electric. The provider came and wasn't actually able to figure the problem out, but they said that it wouldn't be covered anyway. If there was a way to indicate that when the claim was being put in, that would be helpful. However, the service providers sent by AHS have been able to fix the garbage disposal and the furnace. And when Stockdale Service came out, they were really awesome. We were really impressed with them.

I call Airmax Inc. whenever I have an issue as I've had really good success with them, especially for my heating and air conditioning. They remind me that I have to go through AHS first so I call Home Shield and tell them which company I wanna use for my claim. However, there was a time when one of the reps at AHS tell me that they can't give me the contractor I want. I tell them they can 'cause I've done it before with them. I'm adamant that I want Airmax as I've had a time when AHS sent someone out for work and that didn't go very well. That rep whom I was talking to put me on hold and when she came back, she told me they could make it happen.
Most recently, Airmax came to service my request for my heater that wasn't working. But then, when the tech showed up, it was working. It hasn't repeated what it was doing since he came. Another time before last, the heater or the AC wasn't working and the tech came out and found that there was an issue with one of the components.
So far, I've had contractors sent sent to me that didn't do a very good job. For instance, the plumbing people AHS sent out didn't do quality work. When that happens, I let AHS know I wasn't pleased with the service. Their reps would tell me that they would have that contractor come back out and I would tell them I don't want that. If the contractor didn't do the job right the first time, then either they don't know what they're doing or they do shoddy work anyway. When I tell AHS that, I don't have a problem. Still, when they send my heating and air conditioning people, those claims have gone really well. For someone to get their service who doesn't really know how to advocate to get what they want from AHS, they may not have a very good experience. Usually, I don't have a problem with them.

American Home Shield's claim process is easy. I just go online and put everything in and be done within a minute or two. I got Sears in my last claim and everything was smooth and straightforward. They contacted me beforehand when they were on their way. And when they arrived, the tech knew exactly what he was doing. He knew the part to replace based on a diagnosis and I didn't need to know, but he told me exactly what part it was and what it did, so he was great. Then he did the repair and it was quick. This experience was what I expected and there was no hassle on my end, so it was very good.

Out of the 5 times I’ve needed AHS, they only helped 1 time. I have previously written a review of my disappointment with AHS and thought I was done with them. But, I recently bought a new house and the house came with a one year warranty with AHS. A few months living at the new address and the water heater goes out. So, I thought I’ll give AHS another shot, since I have the warranty. This was a waste of my time. The AHS representative told me that I would be placing my service call at my own risk. Which cost $75! If I could give American Home Shield zero stars I would. Don’t waste your money on any of their warranties. American Home Shield will only help empty your wallet.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

We called our claim in and the reps were excellent. It was taken care of properly. We called over the weekend then Five Star Home Services came on Monday morning and checked the water heater which was making some noise inside. The guy was very pleasant and he was knowledgeable. He showed us where the problem was. I thought we didn’t have any problem but the water heater was too hot. He checked all the leakage outside and everywhere but he could not find anything wrong. He then adjusted the temperature. That’s working perfect right now. He took care of everything. We were very satisfied.

City First Electric was awesome. The technician came out really quick after I filed a service request online. He looked at it and did the ohm test. He was very nice and very professional. He said it was not the electrical. So he kinda messed with some wires and the wire was loose because he reconnected it and it started working again. This claim turned out great. But I had a refrigerator repair and it took almost four months. So that was not a good experience. Nobody could decide who was responsible for fixing it. It's a Kenmore refrigerator so Sears is responsible. It's going out of business so you have people that are not Sears employees coming out and they had no clue and nobody kept track of what the other person did. And every time somebody came out except for the last time, it was a new person.
Every time they told me that they had to do something, it took two weeks to get anything done. It was an awful experience. I almost canceled because of that. I called in and the customer service I got was horrendous from both AHS and Sears. They dropped the ball somewhere between their communication. There was no history for them to look at.

I've had some not-so-good experience with AHS. I've paid every month and there were some problems for which I made some claims and their contractor came out but nothing was done. I didn't feel like the $75 service call fee was warranted, but they charged it anyway. More recently, my pool pump started making very loud noises uncharacteristic of the normal performance. Since I've had a pool for the better part of my life, I knew that the engine of the pool the pump was going bad. I called AHS and placed a claim. They let me know within 48 hours that I would be called by Expert Pools and something would be set up.
The techs from Expert Pools were very professional. He gave useful information about the way that we keep our pool sanitized to my wife who relayed it to me. Since the repair, things have been good. The pool pump is quiet and running like it's supposed to. My expectation though was that AHS was going to replace my pump because how old it was. AHS didn't replace it but Expert Pools repaired it and that's fine. Overall, I'm satisfied with AHS.

I had a leaky valve in the toilet and I had a faucet that was not functioning in the kitchen, and they handled it fine. I also had appliance issues and they resolved them too. The warranty has a good value and I've recommended them.

There was a time when I noticed a leak around the bottom of the wall where my water heater was at. When I opened the heater, there was water seepage at the bottom. We put in the claim to American Home Shield and within an hour Mando’s Plumbing called and set up a time to come out that very day. The techs came that afternoon and said the heater had to be replaced. They contacted American Home Shield and got everything worked out.
In less than 24 hours from the time we contacted American Home Shield about our problem, we had a new water heater in place. Mando's and AHS did an excellent ob. It's a lot better than if I would have just gone to the store, picked a heater up, came back and installed it. Everything went very smoothly. I recommend AHS.

I'm happy with the job that the tech did on my dishwasher. His name was Rafael and he came from a company in Franklin, Indiana. He had to analyze the situation. He diagnosed the problem within an hour or two, and then, the next day, he was right back to do the job. He had to put a new motor in my dishwasher. He did such a good job. I am very satisfied.

When I submit claims, sometimes, whoever I deal with speaks English but it’s not really clear. I have an issue understanding what they’re saying, but we eventually come to an agreement. Also, they’re very nice and courteous. The only thing that would be a potential improvement would be on the certain amount of time before they respond, and it's in 48 hours. I am a fairly new customer because the policy was bought when I bought the house on December 11th, and it’s just my first experience with dealing with something like that. Also, I got hit with everything because it was a long distance move for me. But basically, when we worked out, and I understood what was going on, the experience was fine. They sent Air Link Mechanical out for an AC issue and the tech was very knowledgeable and explained a lot of stuff to me. The service has really been good.

The water heater blew and it was leaking water all over my garage. A claim was submitted digitally. It was done right away. American Home Shield had a text message confirmation for me pretty much immediately that the claim was in and that they had assigned a local contractor for it. Then a little bit later, there was another text message about the date and time of the contractor to come in and see it. All American Plumbing and Rooter came out to get an estimate. They couldn't fix it over Christmas. They had to order the repair parts and then two days later, the contractor came out and did the replacement. He was professional and courteous and everything's great. They ended up replacing the whole water heater plus a release tank that hadn't been installed 12 years ago. It wasn't part of code requirements at the time. I'm very happy with everything. I'm purchasing a second house and going to get an AHS warranty through them as well.

Trying to get through to American Home Shield is like pulling teeth at the dentist’s office. They owed me $75 for a year, and I kept talking to somebody in the Philippines, and it took me forever to get a hold and talk to an American. Then, finally, a nice lady got it straightened out in two days. Still, it took me a year to get $75 back from them and talking to them is just not easy. When I don’t understand something, I can’t get a hold of somebody right away when I wanna call them right then. I’d have to take forever to get through to somebody and I don’t feel comfortable talking to the people in the Philippines. That’s a waste of money. It’s an American service and if they wanna hire people, hire Americans.
In a recent claim, I had a plumbing issue where Arnon Rooter was sent out. The plumber was a nice guy and he did his job. He went from the cleanout in the yard through 100 feet and didn’t hit any roots. Then, when he came from the house out 100 feet, he hit one or two little roots but nothing. Not even a handful. He said, “Well, I gotta stop. The company won’t pay for nothing else.” But there was some kinda substance in there. He called it like a jelly substance, so they had to do a hydro-flush. I don’t know if American Home Shield covers a hydro flush or they don’t, but I had to pay $300 separate for that. I didn't understand and it was like, “Well, you got roots. We can’t do nothing of it.” I'm thinking why am I paying for a premium service that can’t handle my sewer drain problem?
Having tree roots or something’s kinda normal and stuff happens, especially in older homes. Yet I can’t believe I’m paying this much money that I pay each month, hardly use the service, and then like, “Well, we can’t go through further.” Everything's in fine print all the time. I’m an old guy. I’m a senior citizen, and it just seems to be a hassle. Nothing’s explained out in easy terms. On this last deal, I didn't feel like I got my money’s worth. I’m not blaming the plumber. He did what he was told to do by the home warranty company. But I’ve been with American Home Shield for 9 years already and they need to step up their service a little bit.
