    American Home Shield's reps are very nice. After submitting claims, we get told that we’d be contacted within 24 to 48 hours, but I think 48 hours is too long. The contractors have been generally good. However, we’d like to be able to get the same one we use each time. but sometimes we’re told they’re not available. AHS has worked for us. Although every year I question whether or not we should renew, we mostly do because of the pool equipment that we have.

    My garbage disposal was leaking and I filed a claim for it online on the weekend. The day after, on Monday, they contacted me and then Five Brothers Plumbing showed up on Tuesday.     I love American Home Shield and I like their website. I like how easy it is for me to look up what's covered, what's not, the details of it, and to request service. They always assign somebody immediately. On our spa issue, Bluepoint showed up and they listened to what we had to say and deciphered it right away. They showed me what was going on and told me that it was bad. They said they would get ahold of American Home Shield and tell them what we were thinking. Then they would see what they would do from there. Five days later, they were back out and they had it all repaired. They cleaned up then they were gone. We've had AHS in this house for 7 years, in our condo for 3 years and in our townhouse for a year, and we've never had a problem with them.

    My dishwasher claim went well. My need for the contractor was answered right away. He was here the very next day. We had to order a control board, some type of circuit board, and he had it within a week, which was exactly the time he told me it might take. It was not a problem. I'm by myself and I can certainly hand-wash the few dishes I have. He came back nice as could be. I would not mind having him in my home again. He was a very much gentleman. We had a nice conversation while he was working and he was clean. A month later, I had to have another issue taken care of. It was my air conditioner that had some exposed wires up there. A gentleman came out from JJ Heating and Cooling. He was also very nice and got things taken care of. So, I've been very pleased so far with both visits.

    I recently had some hose bibs outside of the house that were leaking. I had gone to shut the water off, and it wouldn’t shut off as the valve was broke. The claims process for it went flawless. On American Home Shield’s website, even if a part is covered, they don’t list it as something you can pick from the drop-down menu. So, I called once I got the referral back on who the contractor was, and I told them what the problem was so they would have the parts when they came out. On the website though, everything that they cover should be available to either pick from a drop-down menu or something that says “other” so you can input what it is. There is an “other” but it doesn’t allow you when you pick that to actually type in what it is.

    Two months ago, my dishwasher had a code fo F2/E2. I called American Home Shield and they immediately sent Appliance Protection LL. They sent a contractor, we paid the $125.00 deductible, and the same code returned a few days later - (right before Thanksgiving). Notified AHS, I asked if someone could come the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They said yes and scheduled an appt. Two hours into the window in which APL was supposed to come, the technician called and said he didn't have the part (part that was told we would need) and canceled the appt. I've called AHS every week since that time, and to-date, my dishwasher is still not repaired. AHS said someone would call, to-date, no one from the company as contacted me. Never heard from APL. DON'T BUY A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY!

    I paid $75 for the tune-up service and the contractor (Cool Factory) did not perform the checks which were mentioned in their email and their customer care has no clue about anything, they keep me on hold. I called your customer care more than 7 times and they marked the service as Complete without finishing the service. I do not like paying for a service and do not get the promised service. It is UNETHICAL to charge someone money when you are not able to provide a service, You do not have an email to send our grievances, your customer care call center is a joke. I am sorry to say but their service BAD. I will be waiting for a response till my next billing cycle and move to a different plan if no resolution could be provided.

    The contractor replaced a lot of the things that the previous plumber had done wrong and so, I've always been pleased with American Home Shield. I could have gone through them this time, but I decided to go ahead and replace the water heater without charging it to the insurance because I was having some extra work done. I’ve been with AHS for about 10 years and submitting a claim is great. I would usually hear back from the contractor that they assigned me within an hour if it was within business hours. If it was off business hours, then somebody would contact me as soon as they could.

    All the contractors I’ve had experience with have been great and I have all of their cards. American Home Shield changes them out every so often, so I wanna make sure that I have a reputable person that I can rely on just in case. But they do a good job of screening. The biggest issue that I had was with my washing machine. They came out and they were gonna have to replace the transmission but either they couldn't get the part or something happened with that, and they just replaced the whole washing machine. It was a comparable value and I was satisfied that they replaced it. They took the other one off and I didn't have to worry about anything. Everything is just so easy and streamlined. Everything just falls into place and you never have to worry. You can go online and pay the $75 for the service call.

    My appliance was supposed to be delivered last week and something happened that I never got it. I tried to follow up with Whirlpool and then I finally got somebody from American Home Shield to double check for me, and they checked and it should be delivered today between 8:00 and noon. So, I’m impatiently waiting. The first time, it was a different contractor that came out. They said that it was completely shot. The part of this was melted and it was dangerous. And then they checked to see if they could possibly get some replacement parts, and they could not. Now, that particular person happened to be Bill with Fix-it Guys. He was gonna contact AHS, and they gave me an offer. When I agreed to it, they sent me to Workman, and Workman is supposed to install it. And I’ve talked to them a couple of times. They’re just waiting for it to get here so we can get it installed.

    American Home Shield’s been fine. The interactions that I’ve tried to have with Whirlpool have been nightmarish. J.B. Hunt was supposed to deliver and they don’t have enough information because Whirlpool has changed the way they’re doing things. And when you get on hold, your estimated wait time is 762 minutes. That was the exact last number that I got. I don’t have seven hours to stay on hold. But I was able to call American Home Shield and explain that to somebody and they said if I could stay on hold for a little bit, they were gonna check and see what they could do. That was when I found out that they had planned to deliver it today. Overall, I’m glad I’ve got a home warranty. I don’t know if I’d be able to afford to replace this if I didn’t.

    I submitted a claim to AHS and their contractor, American Express Appliance came to do service. The first time their tech came, he saw dirt and he just cleaned that out. But then, the fan stopped working and the second time they came, the tech fixed that. My appliance was complicated and it was hard to diagnose the problem. Though their tech is good, I think he needs more experience. I just hope AHS's contractor can do more checks when they come to check the problem.

    The dryer was extremely noisy. Its drum had to be replaced. I prefer to go online, but it wasn’t working when I went online. So, I ended up calling ‘cause I had to do the claim that day. After two days, the contractor came and he was extremely professional. He called before he arrived. He called to update me and let me know what was going on with it, and when I could expect for him to come back out. They had to order a part. The dryer is doing fine now.

    Clutch Appliance Repair came out and they did a good job. They had to come back with parts, though, since that’s what American Home Shield does. It keeps a lot of stuff on their own inventory and not on the contractor’s inventory. From the time I submitted the claim, everything was fixed in about a week. Still, AHS is good.

    I came from another company, AHS's competition, and I was very dissatisfied after one of our claim. It took them over a month to correct the issues. That was when I switched over to AHS. A month later, I had an issue. The furnace was lighting and then shutting itself right back off. The gentleman from Air First Mechanical came out and thought that he found the issue, and did not. The first time, he thought it was a clogged filter. I just purchased the home and I thought that it collapsed, so I could see why we would have thought that. When he left, everything was working. An hour later, it shut itself back off again. It ended up being a control board. As soon as I notified him, he very promptly called me back even if it was late at night, and then came back out the next morning. I could not be happy enough with that particular vendor and with the service overall.

    Everything worked just fine with my claim experience with AHS. The contractors fixed the plumbing problem. The first guy came and it looked like the problem was fixed, but it ended up not being fixed after a couple of days. And so I called American Home Shield back, and they immediately sent out the same contractor again. The next guy had more skills and more equipment, and he was able to fix the plumbing again. And it’s still working, so it’s fine. I’m satisfied that I could call AHS and get something fixed. I’m happy with their service.

    Submitting the claim for my refrigerator was very easy. The technician, Martin, called before he came to let me know when he was coming. He also called when he was on his way. He explained everything and did an excellent job. I was very happy with him. However, I was ready to drop AHS because they cheated me on something and I was really fed up. They beat me out of a $700 convection oven. The guy didn't know what he was doing and couldn't fix it. He tried for months and months coming out with one part every time. He went through every part that he thought would fix it, but he never did. I don't understand why AHS couldn't fix it after six months. I just put in to get a new microwave instead of getting a convection oven and they wouldn't pay me for it so I lost $1,700. I talked to Martin a little bit about it and told him that I was very frustrated with them. He said that they are one of the better home warranties. So I reconsidered dropping them. But I'd like for them to pay me at least $300 for the microwave.

    Every time that we’ve used American Home Shield, everything has gone fine. The only issue I have is not their problem. On the first claim for the solar panel pump, the technician said it was not covered and that I was gonna have to pay for it myself, and I believed him. That was my fault for not calling American Home Shield. I have a solar panel on the roof and the technician said the solar panel motor is not covered. When the pool pump motor went out this time, I went and read my contract before I called American Home Shield again. I saw that solar pumps were covered so I called to confirm that. It took a little bit of time but American Home Shield did realize that the wording in the contract did cover solar pumps. So both of the motors were repaired this time. Green Valley Pool and Patio was absolutely excellent.

    They went out and diagnosed the pump. They didn’t carry a motor on but they were able to put a starting capacitor in on one pump. For the other one, they ended up having to replace the motor. Within the next day or two, they were back out and replaced the motor and the whole thing. It took less than an hour to do after the initial diagnosis. Everything went great and everything is working fine now.

    But in another claim, an AC guy came and said the work was not covered. They gave me a price but I wasn’t happy with their quote from that company. I have a personal company that I used before American Home Shield and I said I would take care of the repair myself. But then I got a call back from American Home Shield, saying they were gonna cover the repair. The contractor was claiming it was not covered. But it was covered. The guy came back out and did it. This is where the issue comes in – the guys telling me that they don't believe the work is covered. But they don’t know what the contract says. Still, the issue is not American Home Shield itself.

    I did have one negative thing about American Home Shield though, and it’s still not addressed. I had a dishwasher repair and in dishwashers, there’s an upper rack that slides in and out. Some of them have an adjustment hinge that goes up and down for high glasses. That adjustment click went out so my technician ordered the new unit and told American Home Shield what was wrong. But the parts department sent the wrong part. They sent the basket but no wheels and no clicker – just the basket. But the basket wasn’t the problem. The problem was the mechanism that raises and lowers the basket.

    The company recontacted American Home Shield and they sent another basket but no adjacent parts. There was no way to do it. On the third time, I was not even gonna bother anymore. I said I was just gonna wire the basket in one position and leave it at that. I very seldom move it but it was annoying that it kept dropping then it would hit the plates at the bottom if there was something large. The next time there is an issue with the dishwasher, we’ll try it again.

    It was winter and I had a pre-season check-up for the heater. MS Services came out. I needed to change my filters, and I did. The technician also said that the piping should be cleaned which I'm not gonna do. He said that would be $1,100 to 1,500. So, unless I see a problem, I'm not gonna deal with that. The technician was very professional and on time. He was here for a while, but he was working. He wasn't wasting time. So, I was fine with him.

    I've had American Home Shield in four houses and there's almost always a dependable response with repair people who do what's necessary. I have been a little concerned about the rising monthly fee that has now gone up quite a bit in the time that we've been a customer though. In addition, the cost of having somebody come has gone up considerably. When we started, it was $60 and now it's up to 100. Also, there are lots of times where I go through robot calls, but in general, I've learned to how to manage it and I've been able to get what I need done satisfactorily. With my recent claim, the appliance repair man was very professional. He communicated with me both electronically and in person about his arrival times, his plans and the delivery of materials. He was very efficient in executing the repair too.

    My furnace went off and I put in the claim. AHS sent Fick's Mechanical. Two people came and they were very professional. They were on time. They were also really nice, sweet and very helpful. The closest availability the contractor had was two days later, but I couldn't so they came five days later. Originally the guy said it was an electrical problem. It worked but a week later we figured out it didn't have power so we called them back. And as soon as I called them back they came out two days later. They were super quick.

    When I called customer service it was like talking to a robot even though it was a real human. It was super scripted. I wanted her to talk to me like a person, and was kind of frustrating. But they got me what I needed. She was helpful. The first time I put the claim in I called because I didn't know what was going on. And the second one, I knew I could just do it online, so I did. I was calling them back, it was for the same issue, so I just plugged it all in.

    I also have another comment about something I did not like. Somebody called me because I filed a claim so I was getting a new furnace but I have to pay the fees. Whoever called me left it in a voice mail and left all of the charges in a voice mail. I would have just preferred if she had just said, "Call me back so we can talk about it," because they wouldn't know if they were talking to me or not, like, what if they got the wrong phone number? It wasn't any information but it was like, "Hey, Kara. There's charges, this charge, this charge, this charge. So, a total of $1,100." I'm like "Okay, strangers don't need to know that." You could not do that in a voice mail. Other than that, they've been great and I like them.

    I have a number of properties with American Home Shield and I wouldn’t keep them on unless I was satisfied. Some contractors had been to our house in Warrington Drive once and had to come back to work on something. It seems to be working fine so everything went well. Then recently, I put in a claim with them for an AC unit. United Air Temp came out and installed a part. I’m pleased with the company that did the service. But, I received a notice that one of my policies didn't renew. If they would contact me and let me know which property it was, it would be great and I could renew it. Other than that, I'm pleased with Home Shield and the company that did the service.

    I've had AHS for about 4 years and normally, submitting claims to them is a very good experience. But I just called in recently about my return on my furnace because they sent a contractor out who didn't repair it. That contractor was supposed to contact AHS to let them know what the situation was but the only thing I got was an email saying that my service is complete. They didn't do anything and I was under the impression they were supposed to be getting back with me to let me know whether or not they were gonna be able to fix it. This has happened twice when they did not get back in touch with me in reference to the call that I made for service. Recently, I submitted a claim for an issue that I thought was electrical. When AHS' contractor got to my location, they found out that the issue that my dishwasher was plugged in wrong. So, I paid $100 for them to plug in not my dishwasher, but my garbage disposal.

    BRM Services came out for an appliance repair and everything went fine with that. They came out and said that my refrigerator needed to be replaced, and I’m in the process of doing it. The only thing was that I had a leak in the kitchen at the same time from the bathroom, and so, I had two claims open. Another company came out and replaced it, and American Home Shield had to get authorization for them to do that. The question that I asked them was, “Is everything gonna be put back the same way?” And they told me, “Yes.” But when the guy got out there to patch up the ceiling, he told me, “AHS only authorized us to put a piece of drywall up there and screw it in,” and that I would be responsible for patching it up, sanding it and getting it painted. I was floored by that because that was not what I was told. Had I known ahead of time, I would have had the person to come out right after them on that same day and patch it up.

    One of the managers did go back and look at the notes, and he told me that in the notes, the representative did inform me incorrectly. Now, we gotta come up with money to pay someone out to try to do that. I had to rearrange my delivery of the refrigerator because of course, with sanding and all of that, there’ll be dust and all sorts of stuff in there. I had to cancel the delivery twice because we’re still looking for somebody. And I gotta keep taking off of work. It’s frustrating. I’m looking for them to remedy that situation, and I haven’t gotten anybody to even call me back on it. That put a real sour taste in my mouth to the point that I might look for a different company.

    We had a leak in the water system. That winter, we couldn't turn on hot water or anything. We had to go next door to get hot water from our neighbors. We were using a hose like a bunch of people from a third world country. We couldn't even flush the toilets. We'd need to take the water to flush the toilets. It was ridiculous. When B&L Plumbing came in, they told me that they could do these things on a rush basis. They didn't know what happened, but American Home Shield obviously didn't know that we didn't have any water at all. B&L said they were supposed to be out here in two hours.

    AHS dropped the ball completely and they didn't offer anything to me. The young guy who set up the appointment wasn't willing to do anything for us. I called him about 11 o'clock in the morning. He was supposed to get back to me. Then by 5 o'clock, I hadn't heard anything so I tracked him down and he was gone home. I had to go after him the next day. When we got a hold of them, it started to work. The guy came out but it was three days later and he was done in about half an hour. He put a SharkBite connector on there. He cut the pipe which was copper out of the hot water heater. Now, the problem from the leak was from the humidifier attached to it. When I went to turn it on 'cause the weather was changing, it started flowing water, so the cold water has to be shut down. B&L did a good job and got it done.

    Next, we had a problem with the furnace. It wouldn't operate. The contractor said he would be out here before noon. Noon came and went and they weren't gonna be there. The weather was changing, so I could forgive them for that. The heat was shut. There's a little piece of copper wire on the furnace and when it gets hot, it turns in a certain direction and trips the gas valve to go on. We couldn't get the thing to stay on and the pilot light was going on and off. But this guy came out at 6:30 at night to do the job and that was a heck of a job he did.

    I've been with American Home Shield for at least two years. It started at $50 for the service call, now it's up to 75. It's gone up a bit. The guy from B&L and the guy who fixed the furnace were great. It's not the fault of the guys coming out to do the work. It's the fault of who's assigning it at their headquarters. If they're lackluster, the whole thing goes down the drain. AHS hires these people that don't speak English as the first language and you can't understand what they're saying and they talk a hundred miles a minute. I had to ask to repeat everything.

    When I bought a house, I wanted to have a home warranty with it. I saw reviews on American Home Shield that looked positive and decided to work with them. Their website is user-friendly enough, but the last two times I have submitted a claim, it looked like I was scheduling an appointment. It said that the next available time for me to get an appointment was this date and this time. After that, I realized that that was not an appointment because somebody was supposed to show up one day but didn’t. I went to call before the contractor did and realized they never even got the information. When I called AHS to talk to them about it, they addressed the situation, but when I asked to speak to a manager they said that the manager is on the phone and can’t talk to me. I can’t talk to a manager to resolve the problem, or to at least tell the management, that I've got a problem.

    It took almost a week for somebody to show up to fix my microwave. And whenever I try to escalate a problem, the rep just says that management is too busy and that they've got it taken care of. But nobody was taking my name and number to call me back. There has been a communication problem and I’ve really questioned whether or not that I need to use a warranty company. It’s probably quicker for me to just call a local repairman and have them come out to fix my microwave than it is to go through the warranty company. The contractors who have come out fixed my problem though. One of the problems was with the oven and that was easy. For the other problem, the guy had to replace a switch on the microwave and fixed it right away.

    I would like to inform you of a situation that we ran into while we were getting our dishwasher repaired. The first company or contractor you sent had a problem finding what it was, but eventually said he found it. He said he had to order a part so we had to wait three days before the part came in, one more day because it was on a weekend. Finally he arrived. He did apologize for the part taking so long. He then placed and told us not to use the machine for 24 hour, because he put some type of sealer on the hose connections on the part he just put in. So we waited. Tried the machine. Still the same problem. They said they couldn't figure it out so they called AHS to get a new contractor to look at, he arrived the next day.

    We explained what was what and what the other tech had done. He tried it and it didn't work for him either, so he took this handheld scanner, scanned the inside and said he knows what it is, take two days for the part. This contractor was "Getter Done Right" and they did right. At two days he was back. Took out what that other guy put in, he then showed me the part was coated with mildew. Some other grease that was brown. I can't remember the name of the first contractor, but you have my permission to forward this to American Home Shield they have all the records of this, and I would like to have that other contractor removed from their list.     My first time filing a claim with the home warranty company and I already don't like it. I asked for an expedited service request due to leaking faucets that leak SEVERAL GALLONS of water per day and I'm not able to shut them off unless I shut the water to the house off. I was told I would receive an email and text message with my work order (and that the technician would call first thing in the morning) and thus far haven't received anything 12 hours later (I also called to follow up on the work order and STILL haven't received the email they promised). My credit card also shows it has not been charged for the deductible. I guess the home warranty company expects me to be incredibly uncomfortable in my own home, with no water. I read some great reviews about excellent customer service, and quick service, but unfortunately that hasn't been my experience at all. I'm extremely disappointed.

    The first vendor referred to us for my recent claim never contacted us. I tried to contact them and I could never get any kind of answer. Maybe the vendor should let American Home Shield know when they have responded so the homeowner doesn't have to try to chase down somebody else. We waited several days and our water damage was getting worse and worse. I went back to American Home Shield and they sent out Anytime Plumbing. They were terrific. They came a day earlier than we expected and the guys were very courteous. They brought in a Shop Vac and cleaned up all the water spill. They were quick and I was very happy with it.     Barber’s was professional and timely. They were quick. They do a wonderful job. In fact, we requested them because I’ve had people from other areas, and I had a horrible experience. I was afraid with the man being in my house. But the Barber’s is a family-owned place. All of the different people they send out seem to be knowledgeable, professional and safe. I requested them because I felt safe with them, and sometimes, I’ve called on a day, and they came that afternoon. Nobody does that.

    I had a claim for my refrigerator, and I paid the $75 deductible, but all it needed was to clean the filter underneath. But in the long run, and it would have cost me a lot more. Over time, it works itself out with the premiums. But it’s okay because at least we have the coverage. We renew with American Home Shield because my husband is a disabled firefighter, and he still thinks he can do everything that he used to do, but he can’t. The things that would need to be done would get neglected because he couldn’t do them. This was one way for us, in our own personal situation, that the 75 deductible was reasonable. I could go ahead and call them out, and they come out. Barber’s came out and took care of the water heater recently. My husband wouldn’t have been able to go in the attic and do all of that by himself.

    The only problem I had this past time was that the girl told me I could not request somebody and that they had somebody else come out. I told her I was not gonna let them in my house. I asked for her supervisor, and she said she was busy. Then I asked to talk to the supervisor's supervisor. I do understand why they don’t wanna take requests. But we don’t live in city that has a lot of people available. We live in a rural area. We had somebody come out and the man looked like an ex-convict, and he looked like he had been drinking. I was home by myself, and it scared me. Then he didn’t even fix my refrigerator. This was one of the first repairs that I had had. He damaged it more that it ended up where we had to get a new refrigerator through American Home Shield. I should be able to request people who I feel safe with.

    American Home Shield sent a tech from Sears to fix our dryer the next day after I filed a claim. He gave me the news that it wasn’t worth fixing. He knew exactly what he was doing and knew what to check for. And they were supposed to deliver it and set it up, but the delivery guy only helped me take it in the house, and had no idea. They were supposed to send a new cord because it's an electric dryer and they didn’t send a new cord. So, I'm glad I saved my old one, and then I just had to hook it up myself.     I submitted claims over the phone where one was for the heating and another was for the hot water, and everything was perfect for both companies that came out. The technicians were knowledgeable, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. We went through everything and there was some foolishness on my part, which they laughed at me.     I had maintenance done on the furnace, and the maintenance company said I had a cracked heat exchanger, and it was unsafe to operate. So I called AHS to come and take a look at it. And the contractors that AHS sent looked at it and found that the company that made those claims was trying to scam and sell me a new furnace. So, they took the correct readings, tested everything and showed me results and showed me that the unit was actually operational. They did a great job and saved me from having to get scammed from a new unit. The contractor explained everything really well. He was very knowledgeable. I definitely recommend them.     The technician who was sent out did a good job. He came when he was supposed to and fixed the issue and was gone in 30 minutes. I've had other claims and I've been impressed. They replaced the seal on the dishwasher, worked something with the air conditioner, and then I also hired them to do the season check on my heater ‘cause I never had that done before. Twice, we didn’t get the call beforehand, before the night to confirm, and that’s been the only thing. And both times, the tech came anyway.

    The service guy came out, he diagnosed the problem and he fixed it. He let me know that if anything went wrong under the 30 days, to give him a callback. Anything over that, then I’d have to call American Home Shield again. But so far, so good. He was very courteous and professional, and went above and beyond because he also looked at the air handler, which was inside the house upstairs. The cabinet and some of the nails were coming loose, and he said he had some nails in his truck. He said he would nail it for me. That was very nice of him to do that.

He said that they could have kept the old one as it seemed to be tightened, but because he was already out there they just replaced it. The contractor was very communicative and very kind.     My tenant told me the stove wasn't working, and CD Appliance had gone out there in September to repair the stove. So it was three months and they're having problems again. With AHS there's a 60-day time limit for them to not charge a service fee. So that's my issue. If the stove is broken just replace the stove. I have my handyman that does most of my work. I'm paying all this money for American Home Shield. And three months later I have to pay another service fee. It's too much. I'm better off just saving the money for when something goes bad with the property. I don't wanna keep fixing the same stove. They need to just replace the stove. Even if it's limping along dying, American Home Shield will do a temporary fix.

    I had one company tell me, "Listen ma'am, I know you need a new appliance but I can't tell American Home Shield that as long as I can fix it." They must be losing customers because I couldn't be the only one. I don't even call them about plumbing issues anymore. I had to pay the 75 bucks and why do they tell me, "I'm sorry, we can't do that. That's not under the warranty."

    Also they have to do surveys after each call with the Filipino people that they have doing their customer service. When they don't know something, they straight up lie. I asked for retention because I have come so close to canceling everything a few times. And they gave me one free service call for each property. And not only that, they waived my monthly fee because I was done. I got the free service calls, but it was like pulling teeth to use those service call. They tell me, "I'm sorry, American Home Shield don't give free. No, No, you're mistaken." I said, "Oh, my god." I said, "Look through the notes and see." "Ma'am, I'm looking through the notes." When you call them, you ask, "Okay, I'm calling the service." "Ma'am, I'm sorry, this contract expired." I said, "You gotta be kidding." Then they just take 30 something or 50 something dollars every month off my credit card. So they need to go back to their customer service.

    They'll schedule a service and nobody shows up because it wasn't scheduled. And they have a style to put you on hold forever until the line goes dead. That's the kind of customer service I'm getting from American Home Shield. And the calls 95% of the time goes to the Philippines. In retention they get complaints all the time. I know it's cheap labor, but it's crazy. They need to just let Americans do what they do, pay them more, and keep it moving.

    A-1 Complete Septic Services came out to fix the issue. The issue took about a week to get resolved. It didn’t affect the use of the water heater. It was just an outside pipe that they had to fix. American Home Shield had the state inspector inspect the repair when it was done, and the safety released on the hot water tank. The contractor had to run a line outside and they put the wrong kind of pipe outside, so they had to come back and redo that. In the end, everything went okay.

    I go online to make claims at American Home Shield and it's easy. I just hit the button, come down and I get a phone call from the company who's gonna come out and fix it. Recently the heat pump in the AC unit was not making any heat. When it got cold down here in Florida, I turned it on and it wasn't warming the house up at all. The tech from World Class AC tried to check multiple things to try to get it going here. He put a new board in and some other stuff, and then it worked. We had to put some heat strips into the air handler too. Those weren't working, so that helped bring the heat back on. I just called him because we got home and we were having a little problem with the heat not coming on, and we're still within the 30 days so he's gonna come back out and check it out.

    First of all, if there were a zero star I will give it to zero instead of 1. I am first time homeowner and the home coming with home warranty. My furnace is broken and create a service request to replace it. Although the home warranty covers the furnace and the installation, the contractor AHS specified asks for another 2210$ to replace it. It asks for 2210$ for reconnect the pipeline to the new furnace. Get the 2nd opinions from the other contractors, they said that the quote is totally nonsense. The installation fee for a new furnace is even less than what they ask for reconnect pipelines.

    There are very limited contractors AHS provided to do the work and if you want to switch to another contractor and you have to pay another service fee to re diagnose the issue although the issue is identified. I check the other contractors who do business with AHS, they all do the same trick. Even one contractor told me that they charged you differently by individual and through the AHS. Although the contract writes that it cover the new furnace and the installation fee, they only offer 600$ for cash in lieu. The offer for cash in lieu is only 1/3 of the money which can buy a furnace. It is the worst experience I have ever met. Don't trust AHS. Think it twice before doing business with it.

    Before you purchase a home warranty from AHS, seriously weigh the pros and cons. The pro is the assurance of having a warranty on your home appliances and systems. The con is that you'll only be able to have that assurance if you can get them to be responsive. 8 months ago, I initiated a claim on my whirlpool tub, which is covered under my contract. After numerous phone calls and hours on the phone with them, and after numerous assignments and reassignments of vendors for repair, a company finally came to the house to assess the tub in OCTOBER.

    Despite all the time and effort it took to even get this far, AHS closed out the claim. In other words, by the time the contractor was attempting to obtain approval from AHS to make the repair, AHS had conveniently closed out the claim. I paid out of pocket for the repair, mostly because I am now 8 months pregnant and my bathtub in our master bath was otherwise unusable to help with pregnancy aches and pains. I am now attempting to receive reimbursement for the $400 service that should have been covered months ago under my contract. So, while a home warranty can give you back up, I hate to think that other customers would suffer through this scenario waiting for heat, water, or other critical systems to be repaired. I would not recommend.

    I've had several very BAD experiences with AHS but the current one takes the cake. I am currently without a refrigerator for almost 4 weeks. I had a tech come out within 24 hours, Good thing!. The tech said 7-10 days for the part. AHS said the part was too expense so they were ordering it. That put it out 10 additional days. Yesterday was the day the part was due in. I called the contractor who now says its due on 6 more days later. At no time has AHS called me or attempted to discuss what was going on with me. I had no idea that things were being delayed until I called. I have a family of 5 and we have no refrigerator for a month or more. I called AHS today and all their computers are down and they can bring up any information. I thought I was benefiting from this warranty but with the waiting, the poor work and the fees, It is not worth it. I will be terminating with this poor company.

    When calling this company, you have to go around the maypole to get to actually speak to someone. The online service is difficult to navigate and find what you need to do. When you actually get to speak to someone, he has a thick foreign accent (very nice man but he was hard to understand). One of the companies that this AHS contracts with is useless; Peacher Plumbing. They have come out several times without resolving the issue and they made a MESS which they did not clean up. I had to call a local private plumber to take care of my problems and they were wonderful but it cost me a fortune. The company that comes to take care of my swimming pool pump and plumbing is GREAT but they have to jump through hoops to get "authorization" to do the work and they are very competent in that matter. The warranty company I had previously (HMS) was worse, but that's another story.

    Paid extra to cover our pool and spa. Had a few issues, so they dispatched a local tech to inspect. After 3 different companies were sent out for second opinions, nothing was covered. 1. Lights in pool and spa - not covered at all. I was not aware of this 2. Pump/Filter - since it powers on, the actuators which turn the valves are not covered. So much for keeping my system 'operating normally'. AHS expects me to manually turn valves and no longer have the control panel do it. Control panels not covered. I wasn't aware of this either. 3. Heater. Smelled a gas leak, so I contacted my gas company.

    They found it to be the line to the spa. For SAFETY reasons, they cut and capped the line to the spa. AHS response was that since the gas company cut the line, they would not be able to inspect it. What was I supposed to do? Let it keep leaking until they came out? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They make the adage of warranties being for the less intelligent true.

    I'm a dummy and I've kept American Home Shield since 1995. However, I keep paying more and more every year and the services keep getting cut back. If things aren't getting replaced, they're getting repaired or provided poor replacements. Sometimes, they even send out poor service calls, and the last couple haven't done a good job. I complained about my faucets dripping in my bathroom and the plumber came, so I had to pay $75. I paid $75 for him to tell me that the faucets are not covered, so my faucet is still dripping. 20 years ago, that would've been repaired under our American Home Shield plan. But things keep changing and not to the advantage of the people who pay for the service. Anyway, in my latest claim, Lebach A1 Plumbing came out for my sink that is backed up and they did a great job. The plumber took a look at it, he listened to what I told him, and he fixed it. And I'm completely satisfied.

    The customer service at American Home Shield is very easy to get ahold of. We've had them for 15 years and putting claims in is easy. When I needed to have a garbage disposal replaced, it went very smoothly. But I had an issue because I also had to have my furnaces replaced. I thought I had put in that I needed both of them worked on and they said there was only one claim so I had to do a second one. It was a little confusing. But the guy from Blue Star was fantastic. He came in and replaced the disposal in 20 minutes. He made sure everything was working right. I was very happy.

    AHS needs more coverage on some things. The garbage disposal was no charge, aside from the $75 fee and it went very smoothly. For the furnaces, it seemed like they didn’t pay a whole lot and I ended up paying extra for a lot of little compliance issues. They’ve been marked up quite high so that the contractor could make some money and I felt like I paid more of that than they did.

    I called in for my washer and dryer and my stove. Tech ordered the part which took almost two weeks to come. The guy showed up today to fix the washer and dryer, and it couldn't be fixed. So, we wasted two weeks on that. And I didn't know when they were gonna come out and fix it until I called them to find out what the status was yesterday. As far as the stove, it was infested with bugs and it had a rodent in it. The problem with that is the stove was in the house when I bought it. I was a little bit upset by that because that problem occurred prior to me getting the house. I didn't hear from anybody about that until I needed to find out what was going on.

    The vendors let me know when they're coming, and they're real good at that. But if there's a problem that they can't fix, they should notify the customer as soon as possible. I wasted two weeks thinking my stove was gonna be fixed. I was there when the guy looked at the stove. I didn't know whether it could be fixed or not but he didn't make an attempt to fix it regardless of the problem he saw. He just said, "I'm not fixing it," then walked on out. I wanted cook for Christmas, and two of the front has burned out.

    I'm not always dissatisfied with American Home Shield because they do come out especially when I need heat, and they're good about fixing things. It's the companies that they select that's not relaying the information timely. I would recommend them because they have been generous to me in fixing things. They're customer-friendly and they respond quickly when I call in a request. When my heat was out, the gentleman put in a special request and I appreciated that. When they called it in, the tech came out when they said they were gonna come. I also enjoy them notifying when the contractor's about to come out and who has the order. I felt pretty good when I was getting those emails. If the contractors are running late, they should let us know that. In my case, I'm back and forth to the doctor so I have to find someone to come in my home to be here once somebody comes out until I get back home.

    There was another home repair company and it was not good. We saw American Home Shield on television and then we saw some of their reviews online. We got their home warranty and when I have a claim, it's done very quickly. We call them and the reps give us a window of 4 hours to expect a contractor. The contractors that have been out were good and professional. When Sears came out, their guy showed up right on time and he did what needed to be done. He was really nice. The parts that were ordered from the first contractor that was sent out were installed, and everything's working normal now.

    Having American Home Shield warranty is a good idea to do. If you're a homeowner, it's a good thing especially if you don't have the cash savings and things on hand for anything that can spontaneously happen. It could be over $300 at any given time. 'Cause there are things in your house that can be problematic and it can happen all of a sudden, especially if you're not the original homeowner or been in your home for less than five years.

    The contractor that AHS sent was excellent. He was very prompt and very thorough with what he was doing, except I have had an issue since. The same issue has come up with the dishwasher. I wanted to get it repaired, but at the same time, I can’t afford another $125. I did not contact AHS because I thought they're gonna take the $125 out of my account right away and I didn't want that to happen. It seems like once we put the claim in, they'd charge us right away, which I can’t complain. But being this was the third time for the same problem and it reached a point where I could buy a new dishwasher for that. I've been with AHS for four years now and usually they have good prompt service, but sometimes you don’t always have to go with the cheapest. But at times in the past, they go with the rock-bottom that they can possibly find. And sometimes I just don’t agree with cheapest is always the best, but that’s just me.

    My master bathroom was leaking, and my water bill was about $500 within two weeks. American Home Shield took about 48 hours to send someone out after I submitted the claim. They first sent one plumbing company, which I never ever would recommend, and the guy only took a picture then never came back. But he reported the plug was missing. I needed to have a second opinion so I asked American Home Shield and I was so glad they allowed. A young guy from Blue Star Plumbing came out, and the problem was fixed in 10 minutes.     May Heating & Air did a little routine maintenance where they came out and made sure my heating system was operational, and they did a good job. The only negative I have is sometimes, the company that American Home Shield assigns to me for an issue is not very responsive. I've had to call back at times and say, "How about giving me somebody else." I usually call in and it's fairly easy, but a change has been made to where now they charge you upfront. I'm not sure I'm wild about that because I had one which I was charged and I thought it was something I was covered for. When the people came out, they said, "You're not covered for this." And I had to pay for it anyway. That miscommunication was with American Home Shield. They should have said, "You're not covered for this." They should also quit raising my rates.

    We’ve been with AHS since August 2018 and they seem to be very responsive. There are not always local companies where I live so, you just kinda have to take that as it comes. I like to keep my money locally if I can but because I'm going through AHS, I may get a contractor who is based 40 miles away. Who I get has an arrangement with AHS but they they're polite and we haven't had any issues with them. American Home Shield was extremely efficient in handling claims. We did the claim on a Friday for a plumbing issue, which didn't require an emergency response, and the plumber came early the next week. It ended up that we didn’t have the issue that we thought we had. He seemed very knowledgeable and he educated us on why we thought we had a problem. It was a good experience. AHS says if they can't fix your problem, they'll replace it. So, if my HVAC system goes up, I'll be willing to see if I'm gonna get it replaced.

    I wanted to have insurance in case anything went wrong so I got American Home Shield and I've been with them for a year now. Submitting the claim to them is fine. The people that take my claim has worked out really good. But I have run into a fellow on my air conditioning that really upset me. My AC wasn't blowing air. It would shut down, come on, and then it just slowly quit. I called to have somebody come in to check it out and fix it for me if something was wrong. And the guy came in and said, "There's nothing wrong with this." And I said, "There is." And he said, "There is nothing wrong with it." And he almost fought with me. I fought him back. And that was a bad experience I had with him. I'm thinking of changing because of that bad experience I had. But the other contractors I've dealt with were fine.

    I had a pinhole type leak behind the washer out in the garage. I went online and it took about two minutes to put the claim in. A guy came in and recognized the problem right away and had it fixed within an hour. This was our first claim with AHS and it was a good service and fast. It would be nice if they contracted with more local plumbers though. The guy that we had came probably 100 miles away from us. Other than that, I had no complaints.

    The appliance claim came out great. The contractor had to improvise because my stovetop is too old. I thought that the guy was ignoring me at first. He didn't tell me that he was waiting for something to show up or something that would work, and the only other option would have been to replace the whole stovetop. The timeframe was a bit slow. I wanted it done that day and it didn't get done. But then again, he had to wait for the part. The burner is not being made anymore, but he got one in there. He's been pretty good with communication.

    One burner's still out and that's the one I use all the time. The way the stovetop is, the backburners are hot and reaching across the others, it's warm. So, I use the front burners like this one. I like that with American Home Shield, especially with this claim, I could never have found the part. I tried two or three burners myself and they didn't work. But the guy found it.

    The customer service representatives were very professional and very nice to talk to. The only problem is getting to talk to somebody and I'm sometimes on the line for more than an hour before I get to speak with someone. But once I get somebody, I get help. In a recent claim, they told me the first time they called us, “There's no one in your area that can do the service.” I told them, “I’ll call the Better Business Bureau or something because you told me you have service in my area.” And then the very next day, they scheduled Eckert & Sons Professional Services. So, it’s like they first tried not to send someone out. Other than that, the tech came out and he was really a nice guy. I struggled in the beginning to get a hold of him because the number he had of me was incorrect. But once he got the correct number, he scheduled the appointment, came right out, and took care of the problems.

    American Home Shield could definitely send out a check much faster. There's no reason for them to sit on that check for six weeks because I’m the one making those payments on the credit card. I don’t get reimbursed for that part of the credit card that that runs in interest. They said, “It will only take two weeks.” And I had to call them three different times. I got it in the end and we got our stuff taken care of, but it feels like I have to be persistent and I had to keep on calling them. They have good ratings and bad ratings online, and if you wanna get what you want, you’re gonna have to be persistent.

    Opened service request on Sept 23rd as garbage disposal is not working. AHS sent a contractor who unjammed with wrench and left. He gave me a wrench to do it every-time it happens. We asked him to replace, but he keeps saying it can't be replaced until it's completely jammed and left. I unjammed multiple times with wrench to get it working.

    Eventually, it became so tight, even it's harder using a wrench to unjam it. Now the technician arrived and replaced the garbage disposal, but he FORGOT the connection to Dishwasher and left. Once we turned on dishwasher, there is flood of water all over my wooden kitchen floor. It costed us considerable amount of time and effort to drain the wooden floors/dining area/kitchen mats. Next day the contractor came and keeps arguing that a screw to connect both worn out and the tube fell off, which he should have noticed when replacing the unit. Need to go back and forth from office to home, each time to get it fixed, causing us huge pain & discomfort. A mere 15-20 min job of replacing took almost 2.5 months and number of calls between home warranty & contractors. Totally disappointed.

    I have been paying for AHS warranty for approximately 2 years at 2 properties. My first service request was utilized this week. The toilet has drainage issue which caused leakage, 2 days later I had service technician come out which was an additional $100. The service technician was a unable to complete any repairs without getting approval from AHS which was declined a day later. The service technician was unable to clean drain without me paying an additional $400 out of pocket charge to remove and clean drain. My $40 monthly and $100 trip fee was money lost. I called to cancel both contracts with AHS and was charge an additional $70 for cancellation fee for both properties. What a rip off. Unacceptable.

    I called AHS on December 3rd for an auto request to fix my Panda compact dryer. The automated service misunderstood me and told AZ Value Appliances that my dryer was a Kenmore. I spoke with AZ Value and explained it was a compact Panda dryer not a Kenmore, at which they stated that they don't work on Panda dryers, and they never sent a tech out. I had to make two more calls to AHS on Wednesday, December 4th for them to call AZ Value and confirm that no tech was sent, which they finally did. Then, AHS transferred my request to Nana Services, and they stated the earliest that they could come and diagnose my dryer was Saturday between 8a-Noon. I spoke with Stephanie at Nana who confirmed that they do work on Panda dryers, and AHS received the same response.

    Justin finally arrived after 12 noon on Saturday, never texted his ETA, after I called his company twice to ensure his arrival. When he arrived, he came with another male technician, and he advised me 4 times that his company does not work on Panda dryers. I told him that his company said he does, which infuriated him. He said he can't diagnose any problems because he has never worked on a Panda dryer, and then he stated because the compact dryer weighing less than 20 lbs was sitting on some brackets, it would take THREE men to take the brackets and dryer down and properly diagnose it. He also alleged it would take over 8 hours to repair 'IF' AHS would even approve such a long and expensive repair.

    I immediately called AHS and all that I was getting is customer service agents in the Philippines, each time I would ask to be transferred to a US based c/s center, they would either say this is not possible or they would hang up on me. I asked for a manager several times, and was transferred to another outsourced representative in the Philippines who stated that if AHS cancels their request with Nana prior to receiving a diagnosis, they would charge me an additional service fee of $100.00.

    Ok, so let's do the math here, I'm paying $48.99 per month for my service contract with AHS, and $100.00 for each service call. Keep in mind that I can purchase a brand new Panda compact dryer 3.25 cu feet for $249.00 at Walmart, Home Depot and other US companies. I called back Nana, and they confirmed that although Justin did document that he doesn't work on Panda dryers because his supervisor said he does, he would be the one that they would resend out to diagnose the dryer??? I asked to speak with a manager, and was told by Stephanie, Shakara, and Taipan at Nana that no supervisor is readily available and they only communicate via email with managers. No manager ever called back?

    I called back AHS, by this time I'm been without a dryer for nearly two weeks, and again got the outsourced c/s rep with the Philippines, asked for a manager again, this time in billing, spoke with Leo, who claimed he was a supervisor of AHS in the Philippines who stated that he would finally refund my service fee of $100.00, but he needed to transfer me to a cancellation department in order to cancel my contract with AHS. Wow! This is the first and only time that I spoke with a rep from AHS in the United States. She said she will cancel my contract and refund my credit card for the monthly contract fees of 48.99. My last TWO WEEKS have been HELL thanks to Nana Services and American Home Shield Warranty company!

    I’ve had an ice maker that was malfunction in the new condo that I moved into. I called for a repair in late July. As expected they sent a local repair shop, who evaluated and then ordered a new ice maker and then came back to install it. The new part produces a wall of ice in the freezer. I had to send another recall to get someone to come back out evaluated it mess with it. Again no resolution. They come out again and send out another ice maker all with the same results. A total of 5 visits each one requiring me to take time off to wait for a huge window. Each time same result of wall of ice in my freezer. The last visit the technician said as he installed the 2nd new ice maker, “if this doesn’t fix it” I don’t know what else to do. He even noted it in his notes.

    Still same thing wall of ice. This time I asked AHS to just resolve this and send in a new fridge at this point. They said they’d contact the appliance company and get back to me. A MONTH goes by nothing. I had to follow up with AHS. To which they replied “we need to send a technician out there to evaluate the situation.” They’ve sent someone out 5 times each time has ended with the same result. Now they want me to take yet another day off to wait for some guy from the SAME appliance repair place. (They can’t send a new company since it’s the same “recall” on the existing issue, if they sent a new company it would be a “new” issue.) So you’re going to send the same company who already sent a “master technician” last time because it wasn’t resolved 4 times ago.

    It’s been 4 months. If they delay 6 more months they could probably say my contract is up. The online associate did everything to not let me escalate the issue (ignored my requests) until I specifically said “Please address my request for escalation directly.” Even then I had to simply repeat my request until she finally escalated saying someone will call me back in 1-2 business days. (Another delay). As you can see, everything they can do to delay my issue they are attempting to do. When I was ready to relent to accepting a tech but wanting them there that day, they said 3-4 days before the appliance center will contact me and send someone. More delays. I will never use AHS. You’re better off getting the premium upfront in your Realestate transaction to pay for whatever disaster might befall. You’re wasting your money with AHS.

    I am currently with American Home Shield for 8 months and they have been very good. I pay a higher premium And I am a satisfied customer. They did my ac work this summer and my plumbing backed up in my home before 2 days before Thanksgiving. Raw sewage from shower, toilet, tubs, all had water coming up. It was a mess. They needed a special machine that they ordered so I was very disappointed that they couldn’t do it sooner so I signed up with Choice home warranty just in case they couldn’t do it. Cancellation in progress. AHS came out Dec 11, 2019, repaired it, saved me $700. I will keep them and pay that higher premium. They are worth every penny. The tech said, "We are not leaving till it’s working". I will cancel Choice home warranty. Did not have to try them. My mind is made up. AMERICAN Home SHIELD ROCKS....

When I called they said they will credit me for the increase (30%+ due to inflation, apparently!), and transferred me to another representative (Jordan) who after 20 minutes of being on the call was trying to sell me to stay and charged me an administrative fee for cancellation.     American Home Shield is a better home warranty company than a different one that I would have gone with so I decided to have them. Recently the pilot light kept going out. It wasn’t working. I did the claim online and AHS responded right away, within the next 30 minutes. The contractor showed up on time. The first time when they diagnosed it they took 30 minutes, and then they returned back the next day when they got the equipment. Everything went great. It was nice, quick and painless.     American Home Shield sends someone out within a week. Sometimes it's much quicker, but this last one, we're still waiting for them. They came out and they diagnosed it, and now we're still waiting for them to bring the part. And sometimes with Home Shield, they wait for the thing to practically fall apart. We've had this item repaired a couple of times, and instead of going ahead and saying, "It's now over 20 years old, we might as well just replace it," they drag it out.     I call American Home Shield up and they take my information. Their reps were very nice, and, then, they will send me a text message on who the contractor is going to be and they call me and set up the time. The only thing that they could improve service on are the companies that they send out. They need to check onto them a little bit better. While the people that they've sent out to my house for my heater did my thermostat and finally fixed the problem, if you read their online reviews, they were not that great. But it was the only one that they have around in my area. They need to upgrade who they sent out to people's houses.

    Having Home Shield's warranty is wonderful, and it's easier for me who is a 71-year-old. They've gone up on their rates, but it's still okay.     There was a crack in the tank of our toilet and there was a leak. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and my interaction with the rep was very good. Accent Plumbing went out and the repair went smoothly. It was so quick and they were really nice guys. They have to leave my house to get a part.     The heater was not coming on so I filed a claim online. One technician from Lux Air Engineering came out and he was very thorough. He had to go up in the attic to take a look. He thought it was something he could not fix, and then he kept looking and he realized it was something else that he could fix. He was quick and was able to take care of it with one visit. Everything went great. I've been very pleased. I've had Sears before for a couple of years and I've had problems with them many times. So, I am very happy with American Home Shield. They were referred to me and I've been with them for two years.

    Consolidated Mechanical, the contractor that was sent out, was fine and prompt. It did not take more than a half hour to get my AC problem fixed and he knew exactly what it was. It was a fuse outside and he took it off, put it on, and fixed it. It was a great experience. I’ve been pleased with American Home Shield when I’ve had to call them.     American Home Shield is good, and I am satisfied with them. They explained the warranty and they explained the parts they did not cover so I knew that ahead of time. When I saw that my water bill was high, I had to call the city of Greensboro. They then told me that I could possibly have a leak. Also, they told me that the hot water I have was in a terrible condition. Dave’s plumbing Repair was sent out by AHS to service the plumbing issue. The technician saw all the damages and the condition that the hot water heater was in. It was in terrible shape, and it could have went out on me any minute. The water heater needed to be replaced as soon as possible, and it was replaced.

    The technicians were very good. They explained to me what was going on, but I wished they gave me the manual to the hot water heater so I know what kind it was. I had someone from American Home Shield to call the owner and he gave me two different names but he wasn’t for sure which one would do the work. So, I still wanted to have the manual to the hot water heater just in case I need it for something. It is good to always be knowledgeable of what you have in your house. I can have knowledge for myself if I need to know how to turn the temperature down. If something goes wrong, I might have to call somebody out there again and this way, they'd know what type of hot water heater I have. When you buy new appliances, they always give you a booklet to go along with it, and they always give you a warranty to go along with it too.

    My relatives had good experience with them, so we also got them. When my heater wasn't working, I filed a claim online. Because of the bad reviews that American Home Shield got, I did a search of the company they were going to send me, and Ample Air System got very high reviews. They came out and there was no issue with timing on them coming out. They were very knowledgeable and they were able to fix my problem. Everything seemed to work well the way American Home Shield's service was structured. If something is not working correctly, you put the claim in. Then in less than 24 hours, I got a response saying that they've already assigned it to somebody.

    Claims with AHS are easy. Currently, I have a problem with my heater that is still not resolved and AHS is still working with me. My heater is getting to the point where it's gonna have to be replaced. I can turn it on and it would cycle a couple of times but then it would come on and blow cold air. Unless their contractor catches it blowing cold air, they can't tell me what's going on.

    The last time they tried to fix my unit, I left it on until AHS' contractors got to my location. The tech fixed a part and he thought that fixed my unit because that part having an issue was the code that my unit threw. But now, my unit is still going off and on. I'm waiting for the problem to happen again so I can call the tech and he can call the escalation team and say that he is going back out. So far, I wish that the contractors AHS uses for heating and air are closer. Their electricians are from out of town too. I had a problem with one of them but then AHS and I got that straightened out. Their plumbing people are local and I don't have a problem in the world with them.

    My husband and I purchased a home warranty policy from AHS when we bought our house in 2015. Recently, we started to have problems with the ductwork and we were getting sick often, so we decided to have it looked at. We were told we had mold and condensation from breaks in the ducts and bad seals, as well as fiberglass from the plenum. The ductwork is original to the house (built in 1980) and had never been serviced. According to the contract, the breaks in the seal and wear and tear due to normal use (not user error) were supposed to be covered, and were noted in the report from the contractor, but we were denied the claim because there were "no mechanical failures" since "air flowed through the ducts".

    When we disputed it, AHS sent another contractor, who noted the same issues with the breaks in the seal, the old ductwork, etc., and included it in the report, but we were denied again, and were told that no problems were noted on the report (which is a lie). When we called AGAIN, we were told a supervisor would return our call within 48 business hours; more than a week later, we are still waiting for the call. We were forced to look for an independent contractor to do this job, since we did not want to continue to expose our 2 year old daughter, ourselves, or anyone else to fiberglass (known carcinogen) and mold spores. As soon as we are able, we will look for another home warranty company, since this is not the first problem we have had with AHS.

    I called regarding a dryer that was not heating, I paid $75 for a technician who requested change for the dryer. AHS asked me to select a dryer and pay for it, then provide the receipt and AHS will reimburse me. I bought the dryer for $575 and it was installed by Home Depot technician, I submitted the receipt to AHS, they said I have to pay another $75, and they will be paying me $480, I said OK.

    Since then and for more than 5 months I did not receive a penny, I keep calling and they put me on hold for hours, then an employee says: "Check was sent." The matter became very frustrating, I did not receive the check for more than five months, and when I asked to speak to a manager or a supervisor and I was left on hold for 1.5 hour then I was told someone will call me, which never happened. I do not recommend this company, I have multiple contracts with it and I will cancel them all. AHS do not value or respect people's time, and hard to communicate with its employees.

    My husband and I got married in 2017. We had AHS on both houses. We decided to live in my house and sell his. He moved in in 2017 and called 3 different time to cancel the AHS on his house and we thought all was taken care of as we were assured twice before. Now, in 2019 I find that we have been paying on the house we are living in until August 2019 and then they started taking money out of our account on the house he sold in 2018 and the warranty on the house we are living in was canceled. So, in essence we have been paying for a warranty on a house that we don't live in since August 2019.

    I have just had a Hot Water Heater replaced under my American Home Shield warranty. My contract clearly shows the Hot water Heater being covered as well as all related parts deemed necessary except. Auxillary holding or storage tanks- Noise- Fuel storage tank and energy conservation unit. I needed to have an expansion valve replaced due to the old heater not having one. This is a code requirement where I live and they cannot install a new water heater without this valve.

    I was told the valve would not be covered due to it being a code upgrade. In my contract, it says things such as they will pay for replacement parts related to necessary or required Heating and cooling parts that are needed. The necessary or required upgrade which they define as a replacement due to circumstances beyond the control of the contract holder or AHS because of things like government-mandated system modifications. Which is what this change in the code is.

    I realize the water heater is not HVAC but since the expansion valve was not listed under the not covered section and it is a mandated replacement out of both AHS and myself's control they should cover it. I paid $700 dollars of the cost of the repair, AHS would not return my calls, they could not tell me how much they had authorized to pay the contractor. The contractor they sent could not give me an estimate on the complete job either. Today is Wednesday and I had been without Hot water since last Friday. I can not in good conscience recommend this home warranty company to anyone. This is not the first issue I have had trying to use them but it is going to be the last as I am canceling my policy, today. Buyer Beware.

    I called in for a repair in September 2019 and my Whirlpool washing machine still is not working. AHS has sent two different service company, who each came two different times and each time they left they believed that the machine was fixed. (It takes about a week from each call into AHS to get an appointment set up) It was not fixed. I called to arrange to get the "contract replacement" option and after 3 calls in to AHS was left on hold for 25 minutes. After no one got back on the phone, I received a text that a new repair company would contact me to set up an appointment. Well, 3 months without a working washing machine was enough for me. They did not fulfill their contract and acted with no regard to the customer's satisfaction. I have cancelled my contract and will pursue their "replacement" payment via other means. I would say stay clear of this company if you want/need repairs to be done in a timely manner.

    I’ve had some good and bad experiences when filing claims. First of all, it takes about two weeks for the money to be transferred from the close company over to the warranty company. Until that time, I can’t submit any claims other than getting the house rekeyed. I wasn’t happy with that because we moved in and we had a bunch of stuff wrong, so we had two weeks that we had to wait. But once it got activated, then it was super easy to file a claim. The first time, I did the rekey, the only thing I could do was call them. After that, I do all online and that’s super easy. However, their people didn’t speak clear English and didn’t understand clear English. That was a little bit frustrating too, but we worked our way through it. They said that the contractor should be contacting us within 48 hours of filing the claim. They also gave us the contractor’s number and told us that we could also call them.

    There was one that was an absolutely horrible experience. I left numerous messages over a long period of time and the guy never returned my calls. I continued to call the warranty company, American Home Shield, and told them that I could not reach the contractor. I requested another one and they would not assign me, but they said they would try to contact the contractor. Then they never called me back so I kept calling. Finally, they said that they got through the contractor and that he'd be at my house on Wednesday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. I told the guy that I would have to sit at my house for that long without any information about morning or afternoon. They'd give no advance warning. They said sorry and that was it. Most of the contractors would not give a two to four-hour window.

    The first time that All City Plumbing came out was just for a clogged drain. The guy didn't know how to open up the drain ‘cause it has one of those pop-up drain things in the tub. He also didn't know how to open it to get the snake down into it. I googled it and I found out how to open it, so we finally did it together. He wasn’t super knowledgeable about this type of tub, which was only 17 years old. Once we got it opened, then he was able to put a little snake down there and pull out the clog then we were good to go.

    The second time they came out, we had an InSinkErator garbage disposal and a Whirlpool tub that were broken. The guy was knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing, but we still had not heard back on when the replacement parts would be in. I called them yesterday and they said they had not submitted it to the warranty company for approval yet. I asked them why not, and then they finally submitted it. They said that the lady would let me know when they have approval and the parts are in. I have no idea when that’s gonna be and I have no working garbage disposal and no working tub right now until I hear back from them.

    Everything is a wait. They come out, they look at it, and they never able to do immediate service. They always have to submit it for approval and then come back and do the work or order the parts. If you have time to deal with what you have to deal with and if you don’t mind things like we’ve been without heat for four weeks, then AHS is great. If you don’t wanna deal with that, then no, I would not recommend it. But I think AHS is a good service ‘cause it paid us thousands of dollars in the services that they did.

    My air conditioning stopped working, it wasn't blowing air. Comfort First Heating and Cooling came out and replaced the blower. And then, it still wasn't heating, so they came back out and they did another repair. But it still wasn't working properly so they were determined that it needed a new system. Now they're replacing it. The tech came out today to do the estimate for what I was gonna have to pay. The tech was very polite, respectful and professional. I have confidence in what he tells me. He tried to repair it and there was really no way to know that these other parts would not work either. The system was built in 1985 and when I bought the house six years ago, that's the reason I got the warranty. I knew that thing wasn't gonna last. It lasted six more years but it was just outdated.

    I'm glad we're finally replacing it but I didn't realize I was gonna have to pay $2,400 out of my pocket. I thought that everything would be covered and I didn't read the fine prints. They were paying for the handler and the outside unit but there were upgrades that needed to be done because there were things to get it to code. He went through the thing with me today. But I was really disappointed and upset that I had to come up with that money but it's all in the contract and the fine print. At least I'm saving some money.

    I called AHS once because of my refrigerator. There are several wrong things with it and the ice maker doesn't work. It has a big sheet of ice in the bottom. It works though, but it has some things that I just am tired of dealing with. They contracted out to somebody who doesn't even do those calls anymore so it took me a long time to even hear from them. I tried to follow up with American Home Shield but I never resolved it. And then, I just decided, "Forget it. I don't wanna spend the $80." Because it's still working, it just leaks. Comfort First Heating and Cooling has been very efficient on calling me that day and setting up the appointment. They were there when they said they'd be, so I appreciated that. But this other contractor they had for the refrigerator, they didn't even realize it wasn't doing work for them anymore. So, I don't have a lot of faith in who's out there to service my needs when the time comes.

    It took weeks for me to figure that out or for the woman to call me back. And while I'm venting, I did another claim. My microwave stopped working. So, I paid the $80, the guy came in and fixed the microwave. But it stopped working again. It was more than 60 days later so I couldn't call them back. I said, "Just forget it. I'm just gonna buy a new microwave." Sometimes, I wish that they would consider replacing things a little more than always trying to fix it and then it'd just be a temporary fix. And then, you'd call them again. So, that was frustrating. I've had to miss a lot of work for the three or four visits. I'm fortunate that I can arrange my schedule most of the time to work from home, but you're still changing up your day just to be home at a certain time frame.

    The most recent claim with Choice 1 was to repair the refrigerator. The icemaker was not producing ice correctly, and that unit was replaced. Then on a follow-up to that, as a result of that particular repair and also replacing a filter, the refrigerator no longer produced the water. Choice 1 elected to take care of that without entering another claim back to American Home Shield as it was a byproduct. Being a very fine company that has paid close attention to us, they came back and checked on it after advising us to totally defrost the refrigerator. We followed that, which was a little inconvenient. Then the tech came back to check on it and make sure all the settings were correct, and we are now working with a good refrigerator. So, Choice 1 is an excellent company.

    American Home Shield was most responsive in this case. I have used them on two other occasions. When we bought this home, we had this home warranty policy that the seller provided. The air conditioning unit went out and American Home Shield was most accommodating, and that was replaced in totality. Then the hot water heater went out, and that was replaced in totality as well. So, we've had quite a lot to do with the policy, and I have only praise. It has certainly made our living day-to-day quite pleasant that all appliances are working perfectly.

    I had an issue at my rental property where my tenant had just moved in. Both showers were backed up. I asked American Home Shield's rep to see if they could get someone to come. Their tech from Premium One Plumbing was able to come out right away on a Sunday. Whenever I've had something that's urgent, they do their best to make the situation better for me.

    Sometimes though, when I'm going through their prompts, there's no prompt for what I'm calling about. The process of submitting a claim is a little trickier when I want service for something that's not one of the prompts. Also, I wish they had service for landlords with a quicker turnaround time than the standard service then maybe charge more for it. As a landlord, if I don't own a lot of properties, I'm left to my own devices when things happen. An "other" button would be helpful. Still, I've recommended AHS. They really stand out and they have amazing service which keeps getting better.

    Fast Response Heating and Cooling came out to do the maintenance on our unit, and they were prompt and right on time. It seemed like it was a very quick checkup because the tech was here for maybe 15 minutes, but everything is working all right so I have no complaints. However, with heating and cooling, there's a gap that's left with Freon because of the expense and so they took it so they don't have a big outlay. But heaven forbid if we have a leak 'cause the full charge of putting in Freon is $350 to $400. So, it's a shame that they dropped that. Other than that, we are very happy with most everything else. We've been with American Home Shield for a good 20 some years, and our whole family has them.

    I like Patriot Plumbing. They were pretty fast and efficient. The problem was in the corner of my closet and I didn’t pull the closet thing out. So, I was like, “Lord, I hope the person can fit back there.” The second time, I had it moved because that was like the structure in my closet. I had to remove one part of it when they had to replace it. But they were concerned if they can even fit in there because I could barely fit in there. So, I did say something to the guy when he came. He was early. He came at a good time. I was able to go to work on time that morning. The second time, they gave me a different window than my actual appointment. So, I waited there a lot longer than I would’ve wanted to. But it’s okay.

    I was dissatisfied that I had to pay for something else, though. Certain things and modifications have to be done if you’re replacing the tank itself. So, I didn’t understand why that wouldn’t be covered because it’s obvious you need to do that to get a new hot water heater. The tech had to get new pipes, but I feel like that’s something that one would have to do for any hot water heater. I had to pay $225. I wasn’t really happy with that. But it was a lot cheaper to have someone come in than getting a brand-new one on my own. I weighed it like that, but I had to call Patriot Plumbing to have them breakdown exactly what would cost any extra money.

    The water line broke in the yard and American Home Shield sent somebody out. The initial customer service with AHS was great. Right off the bat, the plumbing company told us that they had dealt with this thing with AHS and that they would deny it. It's crazy that these companies already know that American Home Shield is gonna deny your claim before you can get a response back from them. Sure enough, AHS declined it. This is the second time that I've had a claim denied by them and I'm asking myself why I even have them.

    The initial customer service with AHS was great. I previously had American Home Shield at my other residence in El Paso, Texas and it was great. I live in Schertz, Texas now but it seems like they don't cover certain things. Then there's no way to upgrade your policy. You have to wait for the policy to expire or cancel the current policy and start over. If a new homeowner comes on board, AHS should have the opportunity or anyone along the way to pay the extra money to upgrade the policy. It shouldn't be like you'd have to wait a year. I have to wait till May to have the opportunity to upgrade my policy or forfeit the current policy and actually pay full price for the new policy.

    We had two claims in a row. One for the garage door and the other was for the refrigerator. AHS contracted Cd's Appliances for the latter and a very nice man named Josh came. He diagnosed the problem and said they had to get a new part. That was on a Thursday. He said the part could come in in time for me to get the refrigerator done that week, but if it didn't, it would definitely be here by Monday. He would be calling me by the first thing Monday morning. He said that was most likely to happen so I shouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get the refrigerator done in the weekend.

    Sure enough, he called Monday morning at about 9:30 and said the part had come in and he made arrangements to come on Wednesday. He did and he took care of the problem very quickly. He knew exactly what it was. I was having water that was building up in one of the bins and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from and how it was getting in there. We were very good to have had it taken care of and there has never been a drop since then. He took care of whatever was doing it. It was a very pleasant experience all the way around.

    We also made a claim with AHS when our garage door was stuck. You don't realize how much you do not want your garage door stuck down unless the alternative happens and it sticks up. The down is preferable, especially when you have your entire garage full of stuff exposed to the neighborhood. That claim took a little longer too, but it wasn't because AHS wasn't on it. There was a part that didn't come in and it was a specialized part that the contractor needed.

    This was a whole different contractor. Ace came out and they did a nice job. They also were extremely nice. They came out because our garage door was originally stuck up and they got it lowered for us, which was an extra trip out. But that gave us a great sense of security so we were so glad that even though they knew it wasn't gonna be a quick repair, they made a priority of getting out here to get the door balanced. That's one of the things that I'm really noticing - consideration of the customer. The contractor was about it with the refrigerator too.

    I give both contractors high marks, especially Ace. You don't know how good it was to know that our garage door was safe at night. We didn't wanna get animals inside. Ace techs hiked themselves out here as soon as I called to get that door down. They didn't say, "Well, we normally have two weeks to do this and we'll be there next week." They said, "We'll try to get a man out this afternoon. Will you mind if it is later in the evening if he cannot get there in the afternoon?" We really appreciated their effort. I was very satisfied with AHS' service. Both of the contractors did their job well. I know that there is a delay when you have to get a part. You can only go as fast as a part will go. But they have shown that they do not unnecessarily waste time and they do have the customer very much in mind.

    American Home Shield handled my claim great when my furnace would not click on and wouldn't light. The tech from Nolan Harper showed up that afternoon, three hours after I started the process. They had to order a part and come back the next day and put it in. The only issue I have, just like everybody else, is when I call AHS they outsource to the Philippines or India and I couldn't understand them, so I usually ask for an American rep. Also I hope they could put my monthly rate back to where it was. But AHS has been doing fine. I've had them for probably 5 years and the contractors have been good. It's a comfort to have it.     So many things are not lasting and not lasting very long at all. And as a result, American Home Shield provided the service and the warranties for different appliances and different other necessary things in the home that seem to be going out more quickly today. They’ve been very helpful when I submit a claim. We just had an occasion where we needed new dishwasher racks and they were very prompt in setting up an appointment. Now, they have six choices of places that they could choose from for that particular job. And the person that came out, Sears, was really awful. I called them and they immediately said, “No, you don’t need to deal with that.” They switched me to another appliance company that came out immediately and corrected all problems.

    We’ve had a couple things done and the people that came out were very good. The one that we had on our washing machine was terrific, and he was from Sears. The guy who did something on our furnace was great and very knowledgeable. The company that came out with our dishwasher was also great. Recently they sent someone from Mr. Appliance who was absolutely wonderful. It could not have been better.

    We were buying a second home, and it was like 15 years old. We wanted to cover any issues we might have with it till we could bring it up to speed. Most people seem to think American Home Shield was reliable, so we went with it. I’ve used their website twice to have things done, and it was straightforward enough. The issues we had were very minor and very inexpensive. But it wasn’t quite as clear whether I needed to call the company or not once they told me who the company was. So I called the plumbing company myself. Once I called them, I realized that they were getting ready to call me, and that American Shield had already notified them. But that's a minor thing.

    When they don’t have a contractor and you have to find one of your own, getting reimbursed is a bit tricky. When I did what they said to do online, like emailing the information to them, it didn’t seem to work. I ended up having to mail all that information to them before I got a proper response. It got resolved, but it was a little more trouble than it needed to be to be resolved. But so far, the experience has been fine. There are a few wrinkles here or there, but you’ll find that in many organizations.

    Everything went really well with my issue regarding the pipe going into the stove. It had to go to a different gas line to run to the stove. The contractor American Home Shield sent was able to fix stuff. It took them a few days but it was a lot worse than they thought it was gonna be. Moreover, they came right away. They have been the best contractors I've ever had come up to my house that AHS sent out. AHS is really convenient. When stuff goes wrong, I just give them a call and they send somebody out.

    I'm very happy with American Home Shield and they're great. The heating company they sent out was fantastic too. I had a wonderful electrician come out in my second to last visit, and he recommended that they dig up a couple of lines 'cause my lights were out. However, I was disappointed to find out that they did not allow him to do that. I'm a lawyer, and lawyers are the worst at taking care of ourselves. I didn't take the time to read my warranty so maybe they're right or maybe they're wrong. But that was the first occasion where I needed them to do something a little larger than average and they didn't do it. Still, I like the company a lot and I have been with them for about 2 years already.

    We made a claim over the phone for the garbage disposal. Everything was pretty well-spelled out as to when we should expect the contractor to come out.     We’ve had AHS for a while and sometimes they do good; sometimes they don’t. But more often than not, it’s an AHS problem; it’s not a vendor problem. AHS would send somebody who doesn’t know what they’re doing and the contractors are not the cream of the crop but they can get the work done. Most of the time, the issue is that somebody didn’t call, somebody didn’t take the claim right or somebody didn’t follow-up.

    I am moving so there were several items on the punch list that I needed to get done. One of them is about a pipe that was leaking in two areas. It turned out that it was actually only leaking in one area so the guy from Wade's Plumbing patched that up and then the other, he realized it was the toilet. So instead of patching up the pipe, he just fixed it. He resealed the toilets. So he did a good job. I’m pretty happy with his work.

    But the other ticket was a mess. I had to inspect an air duct underneath the house that appeared to be collecting condensation. So I put that ticket in at the same time and it got dispatched. The guy called me the next morning and asked what the problem was and I told him. But then he said they don’t deal with that kind of work. I told him that was funny because I had selected from the dropdown box then the problem code was, “Water in duct.” So I could have not been more clear. He said sorry and that they were just starting out.

    I called the lady at AHS and she said that she was gonna reassign the claim. I said fine but she reassigned it to the first guy who called me and said he doesn’t do that work and that was another two days. Then they reassigned it to a third person that I didn’t hear from in a week. But apparently, that guy didn’t know about the ticket because once I contacted him, he was here in two hours. He jumped under the house and had it all figured out. He was awesome but everything leading up to him getting here was horrible.

    This has very poor customer service. They’re great when you sign up. They call you and I’m very responsive. What is they start taking your money they don’t answer the phone. They put you on hold for an hour and they don’t call you back. After the poor service I attempted to Cancel the account in September, as of December to still take the money out of my bank account. Multiple calls. Multiple customer service reps, David use the closing account. I had to call my bank and have them put a stop hold on American Home Shield. Don’t waste your time. You’ll regret the POOR customer service yes ma’am.

    Updated on 02/10/2020: I can't update the review I posted on December 10th, but they just keep getting worse. They finally got their required 2nd opinion "contractor" to show up at my house (after no-show). I put contractor in quotes because this person showed up in baggy sweat pants, in an unmarked old Toyota Corolla, no tools, no business cards or anything to make him look like anything other than a serial killer. He briefly looked at my boiler, played with my dog, used my bathroom and left. He didn't write anything down or give me any paperwork.

    I called AHS immediately and told them that no one from this "company" was allowed in my house again, can I please just have the first guy they sent out fix it. They said no. Either I accept this "contractor" or I get the work done myself, send them proof of repair, and they will reimburse me. I got the work done, sent them the proof of payment of $1,300, sent several follow up messages, waited the 10 business days to receive check and nothing. I just used their website's chat function to check status of reimbursement, and am told they never got the proof of repair, they need to send out a technician to do a "complete diagnosis". ****WHAT?!?**** I already have a cash in lieu offer and have completed and paid for the the repair. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they have to submit a request and a supervisor will call my cell at their convenience in 24-48 hours. I'm hoping posting a bad review will get their attention again.

    Original review: Sitting on hold right now . . . An American Home Shield warranty was provided for us when we bought our home. We were really glad, because less than a month after moving in, the boiler started leaking. I went online, submitted a request (paid the service call fee) and a wonderful contractor came out to our house. He found a small leak, but wasn't authorized to fix it because AHS required more information. We provided copies of our home inspection, but they still required a second opinion, so first contractor put some tape over the leak temporarily.

    Second contractor was scheduled to come yesterday between 9-12. At noon, I tried calling the contractor. Got voice mail. Called AHS (which took over 15 minutes). They said all they could do was call & message. No response. Contractor never showed up or responded to any of my texts/voicemails. There is no way to contact AHS other than call and sit on hold. **change subject line to AHS just hung up on me** I started typing this message half an hour ago, and still haven't been able to reschedule the missed appointment. I should be able to send a message on the website and have someone reply when they have information, rather than having to call India and sit on hold. It's been frustrating.

    I like the fact that all I have to do is request a repair and within a few hours, Home Shield sets something up. I used to do it on the phone but now, I can do it online, so I just do it online. The contractor normally calls me within 24 to 48 hours, depends on if I get it on a weekend or not. They always work around my schedule and they're always very prompt. 99% of the people that I've had to deal with were fabulous. The ones that I didn't have a good time with, they weren't able to fix it. I tell them if I don't want anybody from a facility again. And when I had to call somebody back, they're always really good. It's always been wonderful.

    I had Bob's Pool & Spa and the gentleman was very nice and prompt. One time, when he had to come back, I thought he was supposed to come back another day and I wasn't home, but he was willing to wait till I got there. Then, he fixed the pool and we were done. He was great. I always recommend Home Shield to anybody who's buying a new home or is buying a home. It's unfortunate my neighbors don't listen to me and they've had to replace appliances and large items and it costs them an extreme amount of money.

    Updated on 12/26/2019: Absolutely useless. NO dishwasher now since before Thanksgiving. 2 companies have been out first one 3 weeks messing, second one a further 2 weeks. Had message from AHS was on monday Dec 23rd (after call from repair company saying they could not find one of the parts) saying technician would be at my house on Xmas Eve between 1-4pm. I rushed everything to make sure I was home so we would have a dishwasher when I had 10 people in the house. HE NEVER TURNED UP. I called him to check. He Never called back. So I wasted My whole afternoon on Xmas eve for NOTHING.

    AMERICAN HOME SHIELD IS A ** company that is quite happy to mess you around for weeks and uses very questionable repair companies. I doubt this review will appear on this website as I could not find one bad review and yet they are a B rated company on BBB. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, READ THE REVIEWS AND BUY A DIFFERENT POLICY.

I called AHS after one week because the company does Not answer calls and the website they advertise is non- existent. I was told by escalation team (after waiting on hold for 40 minutes) that the company needed to talk to the tech and would call me right back. THAT'S 5 DAYS AGO. I am on hold again with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. THIS TIME FOR 36 MINUTES. This company is RUBBISH. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.     The Appliance Guy was great. The technician was extremely nice. He came in and he looked at the washing machine. He said it was broken and that I couldn't use it. He reached in and he shook the tub, and he said if they had to repair that, it would cost more than a new machine. He said it was no good. He let American Home Shield know about it, and then they contacted me and told me that I should pick out a new machine. They gave me several options and I picked out one, and I got a new machine.

    When I had a claim for the refrigerator, they sent several repair guys out. The first guy said it was ruined and it was gonna have to be replaced. Then the second guy came out and looked at it, and he said, “That’s fine,” and left. And the third guy that came out, he looked at it and took it apart, and then told me that it was freezing up down there, so I have to unplug it and turn it off every three or four hours and then let it sit for a couple hours, and then turn it back on. We called and said that it was not working that way. So somebody else came out and he said the board in the freezer part had gone out, and they couldn’t find one. And then they sent me a thing that said that I could get another one and to make sure it fits in the same spot, which it does. It took a really long time to get it, but it’s awesome having a refrigerator after six weeks.

    I go online whenever I make a claim and the American Home Shield site has been fine. When I had an issue with my furnace, they assigned A-1 Quality Care to me. Within 48 hours, the contractor came out. It was very prompt and the contractor was excellent. Since then, we have had people checking on the furnace and everything seems to be fine.     American Home Shield's system is really good and I really appreciate the home warranty. With my home being older, there are naturally a few things that could have issues. And a $75 claim has certainly been a massive saving over what I would have paid for repairs. I also appreciate that so much is done online. It's very clear and easy to report claims and get things going that way. It has been a very straightforward, easy to use system.

    I've had Snappy Plumbing come out twice. The first time was to replace a water heater that was leaking. The gentleman who came was amazing. He was fast, efficient and thorough. I was really impressed. The second issue was with my water pressure in the kitchen sink. There was very little pressure coming from the water faucet as well as the very slow drain in the bathtub. The same gentleman that came out and once again, he assessed the problem. He replaced the kitchen faucet system and figured out the bathtub drain. I have not had any problems since then.

    The dryer was making a loud, squeaking sound, and it was nerve-racking. A couple of days after I submitted the claim, a technician from Exclusive Appliance Repair was sent out. He didn't get the issue fixed quite the first time, but we have no problem with him. He said he had to install a pulley since there was something wrong with the pulley that turns the tub when it's drying. He had to make a second call on it and it was a couple a days for the part to get in, but he came right away. It only took about a day for him to get out there again. So, he installed the missing part and he told my wife what he did to straighten the dryer up. The dryer is working fine now and my experience was good. With American Home Shield, the only problem I have is it's expensive. But their service is fine.

    J & J Appliance Services went out to service the washer which was leaking on the last cycle. The tech found out that it was just one item that needed to be replaced, he replaced it and it’s working perfectly now. Three days before I called about it, I got to check it out and thought that the back pipe was loose. I looked at everything and it seemed that on its last cycle was when it started. So, I figured that it was something with the washer and not with the actual hookups. That was when I made the call to AHS. The rep I spoke with over the phone was very good. I really appreciated it. They were able to get somebody out here very quickly and the whole procedure was pleasant. It was very well-maintained and they gave me all the information I needed.

    Now, I like to talk with a representative when I have a problem because I wanna make sure first that that problem is covered. And if it is, they give me the name of the company that would be coming out to check it out. So, I’ve never had anything but pleasant people to deal with. Any questions I asked, they have all been answered. And they are very prompt in getting someone out.     The claims process is definitely easy, and it’s all online or over the phone. I just tell them what’s going on, and then they schedule appointments, people start calling me, and everything happens. But to improve their service, if they’re gonna be sending another person out, they should call the insured person and say, “Hey, we’re sending another person out.” Because in my latest claim, there was a miscommunication and I was not aware I was gonna have more than one company come out to me.

    I had a leaking water heater, and they originally sent out a different company. And then they followed up, for a second opinion with another company, which made it difficult. They didn’t tell me that they were sending the next person out for a second opinion. So, it pretty much delayed the whole transaction for a week and a half. And, Silverdale Plumbing & Heating was calling me saying, “Hey, we got a call from American Home Shield. We wanna come out and see.” And I was like, “Oh, no, it’s fine. It’s already been seen by someone else. I’m not sure why you were called.” And then nothing happened, nothing happened, and I never got an appointment made for the actual installation.

    Because the first people said, “Yeah, it needs to be completely replaced. We can’t figure out where the leak is coming from.” So, I was like, “Okay. No worries.” So, then I finally called American Home Shield, and they were like, “Oh, yeah, we need a second opinion.” And I was like, “Oh, well, great. I wish I would’ve known this a week ago.” But then after that, Silverdale Plumbing came out. AHS, I guess they had to order their own water heater instead of using what Silverdale Plumbing had on hand, which really sucked because I was without hot water. But in the end, it got replaced. Silverdale Plumbing was great. I haven’t had any issues with AHS other than a little bit of lack of communication. But other than that, everything went smoothly.

    There was no hot water coming out of the water heater. I called AHS for a service and the contractor that they sent out was good. It turned out that it had to be reset and the button that controls that locked it down. It had to be turned back on because there was the sensor that had humidity, and that triggered the whole thing to turn off. Now I have hot water.

    With the issue for the master bedroom, it looks like the aerator just needs to be replaced. And the issue for the kitchen faucet, it just needs a cartridge. We knew that when the plumbing company came out to first attempt to repair it. I called American Home Shield and I said, "This is what the plumbing company is saying the issue is. What steps do I need to take? This is the issue, they're gonna submit their invoice, but I need this taken care of." We're now past three weeks. Unfortunately, we are still waiting on everything to get fixed. There has been a very bad miscommunication between AHS and the plumber. There were times where every time I would call in, I would ask AHS, "Can you please refer back to the notes on December 2nd. There's notes that said AHS will order." And I would say something and they would agree with me, but then say the opposite. "Yes, ma'am. It doesn't show that."

    The plumbing company and I reached out several times to AHS. It took more than two and a half weeks of all of us going back and forth with AHS for me and the plumbing company to finally say, "Okay, we're no longer dealing with American Home Shield. Please order the parts and just bill me directly." It kinda negates the whole point of having AHS. But every time I would talk to someone, I would say, "This is what's going on. I'm checking on the status." They'd say. "Yes, ma'am." It was very frustrating. This will be my last month with AHS simply because the house should be sold in January. I've paid for my December bill, but that was very stressful to deal with. I literally just moved to Virginia last week, so this could've been handled before I even moved. So I'm sitting here, having to have a plumber and a Realtor go in there, which was a huge inconvenience.

    AHS have helped me several times before, but that was my last time calling them, and everything should've went fine. I had repeat calls and AHS never called me to update me. So all of that waiting, only to find out they weren't gonna order the parts to begin with. So each person I talked to was not really knowledgeable of what the process was. They could've just told me in the beginning that based on what the parts are, I'd have to be directly billed by the plumber and it could've been solved three weeks ago. So, I'm very dissatisfied with AHS.

The tech found that there was wrong wiring on the board outside and he also found that my unit had too much Freon in it. He knew what he was doing and fixed my problem in about 45 minutes. He did an awesome job. I had a contractor out last year that I didn’t like at all.     I had an inspection before I turned my heating system on, and they detected a leak. Then I called American Home Shield. Jet Heat & Air came out to check my heating system. Another company had come out and there was some controversy about whether or not there was carbon monoxide leaking.     I was in the service for 28 years, so we’ve been moving around and this home is where we’re settling down. With it being an older home, we got the AHS home warranty added on to it just in case something was to go wrong. I've only had them for about six weeks, but I’ve already called them out twice. They were both plumbing related and both were resolved phenomenally. Both of the plumbers they sent out were fantastic. I didn’t know what to expect when I called AHS. I thought it’d be a bit more difficult to get stuff done, but it’s been very good. They just asked very few questions.

    They had a special for doing locks replacement and I had the locks replaced, and that was less than a stellar experience. I was getting ready to leave for an appointment and I thought he was done quickly. He went out to his van to change out the locks and said, “We’re all set.” I asked if he tested everything, he said he did and he left. I went around to double check everything and lock up the house. Lo and behold, he left one lock completely not even installed. I called right away because he had just left, and he didn’t answer his phone. I called back to their office and he was at another call so I’d have to wait. He didn’t come back until the end of the day, so I had to sit home all day waiting for him to come back and put the lock on. I sat here all day and missed an appointment. His excuse to me was, “I must’ve had a brain scatter.”

    Other than that, American Home Shield has been phenomenal. I’ve been surprised with how easy their claims process is. Every time I’ve talked to them on the telephone to schedule somebody to come out, they've been very responsive and they got back to me right away. The experience has been very good. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

    We've had American Home Shield since we first moved into our home, about year and a half ago. This was our first time calling in for service. We noticed a tiny pinhole leak in a pipe in our basement. This was on a fully accessible pipe, mind you. We were happy with how quickly they dispatched someone to our house, however the good feelings stopped there.

    My girlfriend received a call from an AHS representative and they left a message saying they weren't going to fully cover the repair because it was a "modification," as stated in "1F in your service agreement." So I looked up that clause in our agreement, and it states they won't repair issues to things that have been deemed defective by the Consumer Product Safety Commission--so basically things that have been recalled. This had me confused. It was a simple galvanized pipe. Last time I checked, galvanized pipe hasn't been recalled. So I give them a call.

    The first representative I spoke gave me a different reason that our repair was only being partially covered. They state again that it's because it's a modification, but this time it's because of clause 4A, which states that "costs of construction, carpentry, or other modifications needed to remove, relocate, or install equipment." This also bewildered me. This was a simple pipe replacement. No demolition or alterations to our home were necessary. It was an open pipe in my basement. They replaced the old galvanized pipe with a new Apex pipes. A simple replacement of an old, worn out pipe. So I ask to speak with someone with more knowledge of our plan.

    The next woman says that it's strange that this was flagged as being not covered if all they did was replace a pipe. I said I agreed and she told me she'd contact the plumber for more information and that she'd call me back. Well, I never heard anything from them and my girlfriend eventually had to pay the plumber the difference. I then placed another call to AHS and the representative couldn't give me a specific reason in our service agreement as to why it's not being covered and they couldn't say anything other than it's a "modification." EVERYTHING IS A MODIFICATION. They could use this legalese to get out of anything.

    So, I asked to speak with the person that was supposed to call me back. She said she'd contact them and I'd hear back from them, but no timetable as to when. That's where I stand right now as I type this. I've spent several hours today calling AHS and pouring over our service agreement to try and understand why on earth they wouldn't cover a simple pipe replacement in our basement. The plumber was only there for an hour. It was a simple repair. And guess what? Even the plumber apologized and said it was ridiculous that they weren't covering it. All this so that AHS can save $321. This is just appalling customer service. So just FYI to anyone thinking about signing up for this. They can and will use this ridiculous "modification" excuse to deny coverage for your claim.

    American Home Shield has been awful, our furnace stopped working and it winter here in Massachusetts so it’s very cold. We paid our $100 and submitted our claim. 1st contract they send does know how to fix oil furnaces, but submits the claim that he completed the work when he did not. So we call and have to argue with the woman in the call center who I can’t even understand because she speak broken English. Then they send the 2nd guy out who gets our furnace running.

    We’re happy to have a heat again. But a week later it start banging when it starts like it’s going to explode when it comes on and the oil is leaking out, then the furnace dies again. So I call again and they want me to pay another $100 and submit another claim, because they say it’s electrical. How do they know that without coming out again and looking at it. So I told them no way, it’s only been a week. So now they have to get an approval to fix or replace it again and if it’s denied then we’re screwed. What are we paying all this money for then every month just to get ripped off! Not happy with this company so far. And have to with my lawyer. May see a lawsuit coming for false advertising.

    This is not a reflection of the overall level of service provided by AHS. Some of their call center Representatives, however, are not representing the company in a favorable light. Today I was left on hold for 18 minutes while the rep called the vendor to reschedule my service. She came back on the line to tell me the vendor had my account under the name of the person that used to own my home 6 years ago.

    1st, I thought it was ridiculous for her to come back (after 18 minutes) to question me when my AHS account is under MY name and address, regardless of who the vendor has in their own records for that address. 2nd, I've previously had several service calls through AHS. All she had to do was look at my account. Instead, she came back to ask me if I know who this other guy is. She took the vendor's obviously old information as viable, rather than being an advocate for her client. It made a simple request into a half an hour challenge. Additionally, English was not the service rep's first language, so communication was difficult - both for the rep to find the right words, and for me to understand her. So far, other than their call center service reps, AHS has matched my expectations based on the many positive reviews posted here.

    We put in a Service Request on October 10th as our Electrical Heating unit was not producing heat. It is December 9th and we still have no heat. I should stop the review there... 2 months and no solution. Unfortunately, our bad experience with this company does not come close to ending there. Our sensor in the Heating unit went bad and would not produce heat, AHS's contractor ordered a replacement part and it has been on back-order for 2 months with no timetable of when it will be come in...

    Essentially, the part is not available. Rather than try to see if the part is available through other manufacturers or cover a new system AHS will drag it out every time they are called. They say well the part is on backorder so we have to wait. Meanwhile my family suffers through a freezing Winter while AHS tries to delay actually having to cover the part or system. AVOID this warranty company at all costs, you will just waste money on the contract and service fees all for them to tell you the parts aren't available.

    So, most people probably looking at an additional home warranty for the same reason I did about 5 years ago. To have a peace of mind when the big stuff (air conditioning, etc.) happens. Well better save that $80 dollars a month yourself, because they will only cover up to $1500 and that is at a good day. They rather string you along and try to fix something half **.

    I signed up with American Home Shield Warranty. I used it once after about 2 years. It was for my well. That went very good. I was impressed and happy with all.

    Fast forward to about 6 month ago. I tried to use them again for a leak in my foundation. They sent their contract plumber (SWAT Plumbing). They quoted me a price of $2500. Seemed high to me since all they were gonna do was a bypass of one hot water line. I called two other companies. Both were cheaper and faster to deal with. I went with a local company that charged me $1000 out the door. American Home shield would only pay maximum of $1000 to help me with their plumber. They denied to pick up that cost from the company that I used. Unbelievable.

    I took time and effort to explain to several employees that they are getting done wrong by that plumbing company. They did not care. I spend at least 4 hours on the phone trying to deal with American Home Shield. Their phone service is horrible. When I asked to talk to a supervisor they told me no. That was at least 4 times I had to do that either because they were incompetent or I could not understand their English.

    Forward 1 month ago. My hot water heater went out. I gave them another chance, since my well experience was much better. Again, same bad service. When your hot water heater goes out, you expect somewhat faster service. After 24 hours of calling the company you have to use through them to fix the water heater, I was advised they have not even been contacted by American Home Shield. So I went to Home Depot and replaced the water heater myself with the help of a friend. Every time I tried to talk to their department they become argumentative. The only reason I am taking time to write this is because this is the worst treatment I have ever gotten. When you asked to speak to a supervisor and they refuse, I think that is really all you need to know when considering signing up. DON'T.

    Quality Plumbing and Drain came out, and they had great customer service. They were very knowledgeable and were super friendly. They went through everything. They took time to let us know what was going on and how it happened, so that was very helpful and useful. A lot of the issues were apparently predated from whoever lived in the house before. There was a lot of hair build-up in the bathroom that we don’t ever use. So when we finally used it that was why they were going slow.

    And the way the home was built with the shower knobs, they just weren’t the best knobs, so they were easily broken. They said there was nothing that we could have done about it. It’s just the ones that the builders chose to use. And so they fixed that right away. AHS was phenomenal. I would absolutely use them all over again. Everything was handled very quickly. I called Home Shield and they had somebody out within 24 to 48 hours. So I am absolutely very satisfied.

    I go online whenever I submit a claim to AHS and their contractors typically call back within 24 business hours. I did an appliance claim on a Saturday and I wasn’t called until Monday. But they came out Monday and the contractors were fine. They were very knowledgeable. I was disappointed with the work on one, but I was happy with the other one. It wasn’t the worker himself. It’s just the switch that he put in was a recalled switch. I informed him of that and he said that as long as it’s working, that’s all they care about. So, I need to talk with AHS to address that.     I’m not with American Home Shield anymore and I wasn’t happy with my experience. My contract was stopped at the end of October and I didn’t renew it because of the issues I have with them resolving the claim. They were not responding. We sent out four calls, and two different vendors came out for the washer. For the dishwasher, three different vendors were sent out before it was supposedly fixed, which in my idea, it definitely was not.

    For the dryer, they sent someone out twice and they changed only a filter, but the dryer still heats up and shuts off. They said it was because the filter was old and it had holes in it, but that had nothing to do with anything clearly. But they were saying that because it dries, it works. American Home Shield kept saying someone was coming out. I called two or three times and supposedly a vendor was gonna call me, but they never called me back. And then, after the contract ended, American Home Shield never followed up with it. They never sent anyone out to come back and look at my dryer.

    My wife had American Home Shield on her house in Georgia before we married and she was very happy with it. We got it here in Alabama as part of the purchase where the seller paid for it. We have not been nearly as happy with it here as we were there, but it is probably just a different plan. Submitting a claim online is easy, and it goes downhill from there. They send folks from out of town, you go through it two or three times trying to get something fixed, especially plumbing -- it has been a real pain.

    The AC people had, nevertheless, been pretty fair. The last guy, whom I have never seen before, did a wonderful job. He was not there half an hour and he had everything working. It did not cost anything extra, too. But, the other folks, some AC guys initially, have tried to upsell me by several thousand dollars. They were saying, "This whole unit needs to be replaced." Then one guy came out and said, "Have you checked the breaker?" When my electrician came out, he swapped out a breaker for 80 bucks, and everything works fine.

    My washing machine was not draining or spinning, and the contractor from C&C came out fairly quickly. The problem was waiting for the part to come in which took a little longer than I expected. What I also didn’t understand was we had said what the error code was and he was able to look up the parts, and when he first came out, they didn’t have one or some of the parts on the truck. I told him what the error codes were again, and he said, “That’s consistent to what we were doing.” He changed the board of the machine because when he came the first time, he told my husband he noticed there was a delay in selecting the load and sometimes, that could have an effect on the overall mechanics of the machine itself. It was really good that he gave me his card and told me, “Wash a few loads and if there's any problem, just call the company directly.”

    My husband had an accident, and wasn't capable of fixing a lot of the repairs around the house. With us getting older, we needed to have something like AHS. We've had them probably for three to five years and have been very satisfied with them. It was how they presented their ad as far as the coverage for what I needed, and especially when I talked to them that made us go with them. I have to call them today for my latest claim 'cause I had to pay out of pocket and then they'll resubmit the money to me. That was when Sanders Gas came to fix my water heater.

    Sometimes, it is a long wait line on the phone to talk to someone. Now, you can do it online, and I have resorted to that in the past. I usually prefer to talk to someone though, if I can, and the representatives have been okay. Also, in the area that we live, they don't have a lot of choices for the contractors or the contractors are not available. Recently, the person that was sent could not repair. I had to call an outside provider, which they gave me approval to do.

And he pushed a couple other buttons and it worked. It was a positive experience. However, we have a refrigerator claim that’s continuing. The contractors have been here three times. They’ve tried several things and it was working, and now they put in a new water valve, but I’m not sure it is working now. And so, that one’s not going as well.

    The furnace wouldn't shut off one evening. It wasn't putting warm or cold air, but the blower was running. I was afraid it was gonna cause my bill to rise, but Cold Snap Air Conditioning was sent out to us to do the service the next day that it happened. They got out really quickly and it couldn't have been quicker. It was the day before Thanksgiving too and we had a house full of company. Cold Snap was excellent and the tech had the part for replacement on hand. It was a relay that he replaced and he fixed the furnace on that same day. So far now, there's no problem.

    A plumbing company recently replaced the water heater. I called it in and American Home Shield sent someone out in two days. The tech was fantastic and did the work in 45 minutes. However, it seems like there's always more money that we’re paying out. I ended up paying over $400 to get it replaced, and I didn’t go get a brand-new hot water tank out of the store for $500. AHS said absolutely nothing. I paid the $100 deductible and that was it. I shouldn’t have to pay anything else out-of-pocket. We'll probably end up cancelling it.

    As far as customer service, Home Shield has been good. The first claim that we did was we had our locks changed. When you’re buying a house, they recommend you change the locks and part of their policy is providing that service for that $75 fee. Then my second claim was with At Bay Appliances and that was all fairly seamless. It took a few days to get somebody out but they got somebody out in a timely fashion and the technician was able to solve the problem pretty straightforwardly and without any problems. Plus we live in Oakland, California area so sometimes, it’s a little hard to get on somebody’s schedule. I wouldn’t blame that on Home Shield. We're just living in a busy area that probably didn’t have enough tradespeople.

    My sister AHS in her house, and she said it was good. And I got them now for six years. It was really quick to submit a claim, and they work really fast. I prefer to call over the phone, because I feel like there’s no mistake, or they’re more professional. So they know how to do it. I could explain it to them. The claims reps have always been very nice to me. I actually have two American Home Shield. I have one for my business, and one for my home. Some of the contractors are not that good. I tell the American Home Shield customer service, "My experience was not so good there. So do you mind not sending them to me anymore?” Or if I really like somebody that is so efficient, do their work, fast and on-time, then I’ll be like, “Oh! Do you mind, if I ever have a situation, can you please tell them or get a hold of them?” I’ve had different contractors, and I’ve seen which ones I like, and they respect that.

    It used to be that the wait to get someone to talk to when submitting claims to AHS was lengthy and difficult. It wasn't too fun to explain my situation either. One time, I was having a problem with my kitchen sink and things were coming up in my second sink. AHS' reps kept saying that I need someone for my disposal. I told them that I didn't know if the issue was my disposal. It may have been the piping.

    It took three different people coming out to realize that it wasn't the disposal. I bought a new disposal just so I could say that wasn't the problem. The last contractor who came to fix my issue was Shorty and they were excellent. The tech came on time, did what he needed to do and did an excellent job.

    Though submitting claims to American Home Shield has been better, the last contractor they assigned for electrical, Kelly Brothers, didn't show. He was supposed to do our ice maker and he didn't come. Also, there should be a place to add a suggestion on their website 'cause that's a way of giving AHS a heads up to let them know what their contractors are doing or not doing. The last person I talked to when I was having the no-show issue said it would be a good idea. I told her that none of the contractors were coming out for the right reason. She asked why I didn't call them back and I responded saying that I wrote that on their website. She said that they don't get that. She allowed me to not be charged at the last try since I had three contractors come out already and no one was coming out for the right reason.

The representative gave me the name of the company who was coming out and the telephone number. When it was not available right away, I called back and they gave me somebody who was available right away and that was the Five Star Comfort. The service was very good. I have had that person before and he was excellent. He told me what was wrong, and he explained it to me, and he changed the igniter. The heater is on and everybody's warm.     So I ended up having to report AHS to the BBB! We have a water heater that is leaking through the ceiling (located in the attic, which is how it's done in GA apparently) and into electrical outlets and lights and they said it isn't a hazard or an emergency to justify getting on of their contractors out same day or within 24 hours! Also, we have to use their contractors 'cause they are licensed, yet they aren't and are on the verge of being shut down! WTF? Asked if we find one that is licensed and that can provide emergency services will they reimburse us.... The answer was "NO" and they can get one out on a week or two! Now we have no water (had to be shut off to stop the leaking) with kids in the home! If I could give NEGATIVE STARS I would! They are also getting reported to the military and we will see what we can do to get them blacklisted!!!!

    We changed from another company to AHS because our previous company had gone up in price. We have been with AHS for a couple of months now and based on our experience so far, their staff are not as knowledgeable as they should be.

    It took Beaches Air Conditioning & Heating five trips and different people were coming in and out. One day, they said that they came and nobody was home, but my husband and I were sitting here waiting. They said that somebody came to the door and said that we were out of town, but that was a lie. When we called about it, they said they were sorry and they'd get to us at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We told them that we've been here for over a week without service but they said they had other people already ahead of us that were scheduled, so there was nothing they could do.     In the first week I was here at my place, I started having plumbing problems. And every time I've called, American Home Shield's phones were down and it'd go into a voicemail that said to try back later, which was a bummer. I'd then leave a message, but don't hear anything, so I'd call back. I had to have somebody come out a couple of times for the same issue and resolve it. But I think it's an underlying problem. There's a problem with the plumbing, which was why these particular toilets keep plugging up and gurgling at my sink.

    When the particular toilet was clogged, the contractor came out twice and said that there was something in there and if there was, it would be $189. AHS didn't cover it. I said that it was fine, I had to have a toilet. He went in and got it out. It was a popsicle stick, probably from one of my grandchildren. I then paid him and he left. About two weeks later, I got a letter in the mail that said that they didn't cover things that are this and that. It was really weird. I called the contractor and asked what was the letter for. He said that it was for if they find foreign objects, like when they found the popsicle stick. He apologized that they didn't call to let me know that the letter was coming, but they had to send the letter out in my state.

    AHS replaced my oven and the new one got delivered but the tech has not yet installed it. He came and saw that there is a problem in the connection because it’s a gas oven, but my gas is not a regular gas. It is propane, so it’s a very old system and the technician said that he doesn’t have the insurance to do that. AHS should assign another contractor to come over. Besides that, all my other issues were resolved very well and very smoothly.

    We had a couple of leaks with our plumbing and C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came to address them. None were resolved the first time. AHS didn't cover whole house filters. And so, that part couldn't be resolved, which was unfortunate and disappointing. They also declined to work because they couldn't replicate the leak. The third item was a very slow leak and I totally understood that. But then that night, its leak started, so I put in another claim and they came back and then they fixed it. So it took two times for the contractor to come out, but they took care of it. The technicians were knowledgeable, informative, professional and kind of a handyman do-it-yourself or two. They also cleaned up. But I'd be happier if AHS broadens their contract.
