I had a rekey done through American Home Shield and Dan’s Pro-Lock handled the request. The techs who came were very knowledgeable and efficient. They were done in two hours at most. They forgot to rekey one door though and are supposed to be coming back out. Another time, I submitted a claim to AHS for my dryer. That dryer was condemned and now, I'm getting disgusted because it's been almost two months and I’m still waiting on the new dryer. I talked to AHS yesterday and I was told that they’re waiting on the dryer to show up to whoever’s supposed to deliver it. Still, I've been pretty satisfied with AHS for the most part.
Good Morning Thomas,
We strive to provide you with a great team of contractors and an even better customer service experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

The furnace repairman diagnosed the problem as the circuit breaker on Christmas Eve, and then Kelley Brothers didn’t get out until the day after. But given the holiday, that’s excusable. They're a very good company and they came very quickly considering that it was Christmas. They replaced a circuit breaker, and the guy had it done within 20 minutes. Ian was the service technician and he was extremely courteous.

I recently just bought this house and I had talked to my Realtor to find out which insurance company was the best for home insurance, and he highly recommended American Home Shield. This will be my first year with AHS. I filed a claim and Standard Plumbing came out. They had great service. They were in and out. They answered any questions I had and they were very professional. They showed me where the problem was and they explained to me what they were gonna do and let me know that there was no repairing it and it needed to be replaced. Also, they explained to me why they were doing what they were doing instead of just saying, "Hey, bye," and that's it. They were very helpful.

My wife contacted American Home Shield online for our washing machine and they assigned somebody to us. However, those people never showed up. We called back and American Home Shield assigned another company to us. They called immediately that day and showed up about four days later, because they were just swamped due to the holidays. The technician was outstanding. He came out with what he needed, whatever the options were for fixing the machine, and he fixed it right then. It took him about 20 minutes.

You have to wait forever on the line when submitting a claim with American Home Shield. But the young man who came was wonderful, personable, calm, and kind. He was the nicest kid I've ever seen. And he did a great job. I wrote down his name. I thought that if I ever call AHS again, I would request him.
Great Connie! We are happy that we were able to resolve your claim. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience.

Breakers were tripping all over the place. I called it in and the representative I talked to was awesome. The contractor came out the next day and he fixed it momentarily, but then it happened again the next day. So, he didn’t actually find the root of the problem. However, he called in for a second opinion ‘cause he kinda knew he didn’t figure it out. But it was a really freaky situation and I wasn’t disappointed in him because he was willing to say he didn’t get it right. I was still happy with everything. Everything was honestly great. I sat on hold for a long time waiting for someone to answer the phone, but it was a Saturday, a holiday, so it was not a big deal.
Good afternoon Taylor,
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We are glad to hear about your experience and the repairs that are complete.

I had a plumbing claim and it went very well. The tech from Eagle Plumbing & Heating came out twice. The first time he came out, he said that it was some piece of equipment that's above the water heater. He had to replace that, and that wasn't covered by the insurance. Then about a week later, when I went downstairs, I noticed that it was leaking again. I called American Home Shield and they said that they would contact him, and he called me right away and said, "I'll be out tomorrow with a water heater." Everything worked fine. The only thing is that when the plumber came the first time and said that the piece was not gonna be covered by the warranty, he said that the warranty was supposed to call me and tell me that, but they didn't.

American Home Shield went up on my bill and I didn't get any notification from them. I was paying 44 and some change on my bill and now, I'm paying 56 and 16 cents. When I called about it, they said on their record that I agreed to it, which I didn't nor I signed anything about it. Also when you sign up with them, they don't tell you anything. When it comes to heat and air, you pay $100 a month. The heating company they sent out was okay, but I ended up paying $1000 'cause I had to get a new unit. That was pretty steep. They don't pay for the anti-freeze, the Freon that goes on there and the people charge of $85 per deal.

Mr. Appliance of Oklahoma City came out for my dryer. The tech came in a professional truck instead of just one of the side trucks. He was very professional, friendly, and knew exactly what he was doing. The issue has something to do with the other part that holds the belt and it was worn out, so he put a new one. It was quick and he was here about 40 minutes. I've had American Home Shield for about 4 years so far. I need the insurance so I don't have to worry about anything and they haven't failed me yet. If I call, they visit. I have their assurance that if anything breaks down in my house, they're gonna fix.

K & S, the contractor AHS sent has to come back out next Tuesday, which would be their second time coming out. I still have a leak in the kitchen faucet and I don't know why they weren't able to resolve the issue the first time. I've had them before, and I wasn't pleased with their services. When they came out last year, their guy tried to charge me for a faucet in my restroom. I thought that in order to replace it, he was gonna charge us, but one side of the knob wasn't working. I thought it should have been included in the plumbing issue, but he stated that there would be an extra charge of $150, which I didn't agree with. I ended up going outside and getting someone else.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you to make sure your issue is resolved. I look forward to assisting you.

The first time American Home Shield sent out a contractor, it was for our downstairs AC. That one had a frozen line because the relay was bad. It took the technicians a couple of visits to fix it because they had to wait for it to thaw then come back with the relay. They made it work. At the time the technicians came, it was really hot but our upstairs AC unit was working pretty well for a Florida air conditioner. Shortly thereafter, over the course of about a month, the upstairs unit just stopped working entirely. It blew but there was no Freon. We had to call AHS this time for that and the contractor they sent out took care of their business. The Freon is in there now. But now, our downstairs air conditioner doesn't work and this is the second time.
Months back when we had them come in, they came and fixed our downstairs air conditioner. We didn't use the other unit for a couple of days after they came because the weather wasn't high enough. About two days after they came, we had to turn it on. It was only 78 outside so I really didn't need to turn it on but I decided to turn both units on just because I wanted to test the upstairs unit that they had just fixed. It cooled down the upstairs and there was no problem. But the downstairs unit was set at 74 and it never budged. It couldn't bring it down one degree out of four. It was 78 in the house when I turned it on and it couldn't drop it from 78 to 74. It had no problem before they were there. Now, our downstairs one doesn't work. The two units are right next to each other and I'm starting to wonder if the technicians are doing something so they can get callbacks.
We have five-year-old air conditioning units and for ACs, that's pretty new. This will be our third call on an air conditioning unit in roughly seven months and the second on the same unit. I'm wondering what's going on. We have yet to call American Home Shield back for this because I wanted another warm day to test it. It's supposed to be warm here tomorrow so I was gonna turn it on and check it. I don't really know what to say to AHS because I can't say without a doubt that the technicians are coming out then the next day, that air conditioner works but the other one doesn't. I can't say without a doubt that the correlation is there and that they are the ones doing it, but it's awfully fishy that this is gonna be our third call and it's always right after they fix the other one.
This kinda sucks but it is part of the contract where we pay 75 bucks every time this happens. That's the reason we didn't call AHS right away when the first one stopped working because we are gonna pay for it every time and we just moved in. Warranty companies are all that way. We had a home warranty when we lived up in Ohio too and it's just the way it is. It sucks but we gotta keep calling in.
My use of AHS' product has been great. But when we initially got the product, we kinda got screwed. The person we bought the home from bought American Home Shield for us and the warranty company was supposed to send us an email. But we didn't get that get right away. We called them back. Overall, we did not get the Home Shield that we wanted. We just got the default one because we didn't answer within the time that they said. But the real estate agent on the other end didn't really make it clear to us that we had to do that.
When we called American Home Shield to tell them what was going on, they did not let us switch it. They told us it was too late even though we never got the opportunity at all to respond to their email because it didn't come to us. It went to the real estate agent. We never got anything stating that we could pick a home warranty. We would like the opportunity to change it but now, they're saying we can't. We have a couple of things in the house that ended up being broken but now, American Home Shield won't fix them because we weren't allowed to get the Home Shield that we wanted. Other than that, the warranty has been fine.
Collin,

My hot water heater was leaking water out of the top. I had to completely disconnect the water from the house through the main shut-off valve because there was no cold water shut-off valve and then you all scheduled Universal Plumbing to come out, and I was without water for about five days. So, I called American Home Shield in and then they scheduled Universal Plumbing to come out. I was without water for about five days and had to wait for the contractor because they went ahead and ordered the unit in case it had to be replaced when they got here, and it did have to be replaced. So, they had the unit with them and they replaced it right then. The unit has been performing excellently since the repair. AHS l helped me out tremendously.

I wasn't getting a hot water and sent in a claim over the phone. Jim Bennett came out and did something in November, and then I came home a few weeks ago and had water in my garage. It was leaking, and I wanted a plumber out that night because I had to wound up bailing water every four hours out of my wall. But they couldn't get anybody out. So every four hours, I have to come and change buckets. The plumber came out the following morning for a second service call. They corrected that. It has been operating fine since then. Jim Bennett was outstanding both times when they came out, and they were responsive. I had a wonderful experience with American Home Shield as well.

We've been with American Home Shield for a long time, about 20 years. Our difficulty in their claims process is that we usually have to wait for days to get somebody out. This time, for a heating issue, we did not because it involved a possible carbon monoxide leak. They got somebody right away and they handled it very well. But many times, we don’t even use American Home Shield because we need something fixed right away. They need to improve how quickly they get people here. We keep AHS because we have very old furnaces. But if they want to repair them at 20 years old plus instead of replacing them, I’m gonna be very upset.

My first claim was for my heat pump that was not working properly. I submitted the claim both by going online and calling in, and online is the easiest if it's not a complicated issue. So, Aquilla Air came out the next day and then the tech got in and took a new circuit board. The boards are already put in that afternoon, ‘cause they were out here in the area. But now, the sensor is not sensing properly as it keeps coming on and off. I would then have the new sensor part coming on Monday. They’ve been on top of it really good and they’ve done a good job so far.

My washer was leaking. There was water in the drum one day. Sometimes, I’d wash the clothes and spin them, and they didn’t seem to spin well. And my dryer took a long time to dry. I like to call in and talk to somebody when I submit claims. It was 12/29 when I called in and the gentleman from Bay to Bay Appliance Repair came out on New Year’s eve. He looked at both of them and at the end of the day, there were a couple of things he did. He gave some tips on maintenance, which was good. And he drained this little pump in the washer. A couple days later, I started having some leaking into the drawer on the pedestal.
I thought we were gonna have him come back. I even talked to somebody about that, and it has now stopped leaking. I think the drawer is dry because what may have happened was, I’ve washed clothes, I’m looking at it to see if it was taken care of. Maybe there was a little water that was left in there. So, we were just checking it to make sure. Otherwise, he didn’t find anything. It’s dry now, so that’s good. It’s been dry for three days, so maybe it was finally taken care of.
The gentleman was very professional. We live in a condo, so there’s a secondary vent, and I have been told that I do not need to do a lot of cleaning that vent out. He said, “No, you need to do it much more often than you're doing it because that may be causing a problem with the drying of the appliance, the dryer part.” So, that’s where we are. My experience has been fine. My only problem with American Home is that we’re gonna renew in 2/15 of this year and the renewal is almost $100 than it was last year. So, it’s $565 and it’s a lot of money for the appliances that I have to protect. That’s the big problem now and that’s my only complaint.
We are glad to know your washer and dryer issue have been taken care of. We know how major appliances such as those can be hassle if malfunctioned. As far as the renewal is concerned to better assist you are welcome to contact our sales department for any renewal concerns if you would like at 1-800-247-4749. Have a great and prosperous New Year.

The technicians who came for my claim were very nice, helpful and informative. The first time, it was Marty and the second time it was another younger gentleman. Initially, the AC stopped cooling and then the heater shortly stopped heating. It was vice-versa. Apparently, the heat pump was in reverse mode. When things somehow got reversed, we noticed that the fan would kick on, even if the thermostat was completely out. On the days where it was freezing inside the house, the fan would just kick on all of a sudden and blow cold air. I thought that was gonna be fixed when the contractor came out and repaired everything. Then I put in another ticket and apparently, that was not covered. Everything was done in a timely manner though, especially the second call-out considering it was the day before New Year's Eve. I was very shocked that they came out on New Year's Day.

The contractor for the AC unit was very professional. I got emails through text as to when they would arrive and sent the text 20 to 30 minutes before he came. He did the same thing the following day. It took a couple of days because they didn't have the part. The work was done and I’m very pleased. I’ve been with American Home Shield for four years and I haven’t found the reason to move the program. I have an outdoor kitchen and I had a plumber come out a couple of years ago. The faucet should have been covered but, apparently, I didn't read enough of the fine print to find out that outdoor kitchens were not covered. But that has been the only issue with AHS and part of the blame was on my end not indicating it was an outdoor kitchen.
We do apologize the faucet issue was not a covered item, We are however, grateful that your other needs have been resolved. Thank you so much for the positive feedback and 5 star rating that you have provided. Have a great New Year.

The first time, Sears was very late but the tech apologized because she got rerouted by the GPS. When the problem occurred again, I took off from work and another technician was coming. I took the whole day off of work and lost money. I didn't get a call until 12 o’clock to tell me that the technician was not coming. I was very upset because I took off and nobody called to let me know that they weren’t coming. I know I’m in a rural area, but having to take off of work and having a window frame from 8:00 to 5:00 could be a little better. They could have kept in touch with me about the timeframe. I could have left work or gotten somebody else to go to my house, like I did this time, to wait for them. But I didn’t have that opportunity. That wasn’t given to me. But the tech Christine has been very professional. She apologized and did what she had to do. Plus American Home Shield said they would give me a free service.

I’m very pleased with American Home Shield so far, except for the wait time on the phone when I call in that sometimes I have to go through. I understand sometimes I can go online and request their service and stuff like that, but most of the time, I sometimes call while I'm driving or doing another thing. I wish the amount of time that I stay on the phone for the customer service to come and help can be shorter. Other than that, I had a lot of plumbing issues back-and-forth throughout the years, and Do Rite Plumbing is the best plumber or company that I’ve dealt with since I've been with Home Shield since 2011. They're very pleasant and professional. Sometimes, there's delayed time a little bit but at least I got a courtesy call where they say that they could be here past a certain time. I used to call in my claims, but since it takes so long, getting put on hold, I just go online. But the one thing I don’t like about online now is that AHS automatically deducts your credit card. Before, they would do it once the repair is done. But now, it seems like they just take it automatically. Sometimes, I have to cancel the claim because I can fix it on my own, and then I have to go through trying to get the charge reversed. But it is what it is. I’ve had a repair in my primary residence that they’ve had to come out multiple times, and since I did the claim online, it looked like I was putting in a new order or a new repair, which was not the case. I just needed a follow-up. So it would be best if there was an easier way to speak to somebody.
I've had American Home Shield for over 15 years on both properties, so I've had some good experiences and some bad ones with contractors. But the guy from Dave and Sons that checked for a leak in my rental property was pretty good. He was pretty cool and knowledgeable. Usually, it takes two or three days for someone to come out, but this guy was available and he came right out. So that was really good. Especially when you're dealing with a rental property and you got people in there, you don’t want them waiting around. He didn’t find a leak, and he said there's a 60 or 90-day warranty through them. If there's ever a problem, I have to give AHS a call first.

I had a problem at a rental property and AHS sent out Temperature Techs Inc. The tech fixed the problem and the tenant was happy with what he did. He responded quickly and that was the second time I've had him do work on that particular residence in the last three years. I've got AHS on my own primary residence as well and sometimes it's a little difficult dealing with them because it's a little impersonal. You don't get to really talk to anybody and you're just filing a claim online. Also, there has been instances where I've had problems with the deductible and follow-up calls on some things.
Otherwise, I've been pretty happy with AHS and I had no real problems in getting things processed. Although last year, they replaced the compressor on my AC unit and in a way, I wish the unit had gotten replaced instead of them replacing the compressor because it has the old Freon in it, so it's sort of obsolete. The next time something happens, the unit will have to be replaced because it can't be done. Also, I got charged $800 in Freon for replacing a compressor, which was ridiculous.
We do appreciate your feedback regarding your repair/replacement experience. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We will take into consideration of what has happened and we do thank you for being a valued customer.

My claim for my freezer went on for about 3 months but everything went well. Intertech Maintenance Group came out and they had to have a couple of things and order parts. They took a while to finish but they finished. The freezer is finally fixed and it’s working good. Everything’s resolved now. Still, American Home Shield should keep in contact since it’s better to know when their contractor is gonna come back. I had to call to let them know, so that the contractor would call us to let us know when they’re gonna come back and finish it. Other than that, I've had American Home Shield as my home warranty provider for about 7 years now, which has been a while, and I believe in the home warranty service.

Arizona Valve came out and the guy was very nice. He said, "I'mma look at this." Then he went on another call. He said, "Let me look at you and so when I'm coming back this way, I know what I need to bring." And he said, "Oh, you need a icemaker." So, he came right back and put it in the refrigerator. But for some reason, from the first day, it made ice and it continued to make ice. The icemaker arm goes up when there's ice in there but with this, the arm just comes up whenever. There may be 2 cubes in there and the arm would just come up. I contacted them back to find out what's going on and the tech is coming back on Tuesday.
I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years or even longer. I had a house before and I sold it. And now, I'm renting my daughter's house and I cover her stuff in here. I like that they send someone right out. The people that they recommend have been really good as well. The only biggest problem I had was getting a microwave put in because they wanted me to do some construction and I couldn't do it 'cause I'm in a older house. And so, my son ended up putting it in. But they replaced the microwave. Then, I always submit my claims over the phone. I'm a senior and I can't do all the computer stuff, and it's always easier to speak to someone. Also, I have recommended them and I tell people, "It's the best $75, if these appliances break, that you can spend."

We are renewing American Home Shield and on February 2nd would be the beginning of our third year. We recently had an appliance issue and they sent Jones Family Appliance Repair out. It was for a dryer and it was the best experience I had. I put in the request on Monday early afternoon, and within an hour to two hours, I had an appointment for the next morning. They came out Tuesday morning, and they fixed it within an hour. They were close to the time they said they’d be here. And before lunch the next day, within 24 hours, our dryer was back working perfectly.
American Home Shield could maybe add an option to cover steamers for like showers. It’s electrical. It heats the water and creates steam in your shower. And maybe adding a code compliance add-on to where if you pay the extra couple of dollars, you can have code compliance issued and it’s also covered as they arise due to a covered appliance. Having a home warranty is worthwhile from a standpoint of as you buy an appliance, and it’s covered usually for a one-year warranty, then at the end of that one year, you usually get something in the mail from whoever made the appliance and they’ll say, you can add another three years for this cost. But if you have a home warranty and you buy a new appliance, you don’t have to buy their extended warranty because you’ve already got one built into your American Home Shield warranty.
It is always a pleasure to read positive customer reviews about American Home Shield. I am glad the technician was able to diagnose and fix the issue within a timely manner.

When I submitted the claim for my fridge, I spoke to somebody from AHS and paid my deductible. They then assigned a company, which was D&G, to the job. D&G called and made an appointment. Then when they came out, they figured out what the problem was and it was a very quick repair. Now the fridge is performing like a fridge should. It's keeping things cold and frozen. The experience met my expectations, which were reasonably high.

We've had American Home Shield for 12 years and we've had a lot of different companies come out for a lot of different things but they are first class. They are very responsive. You get someone when you call their office and if they’re checking on something, they call you back. They come when they're supposed to come out to the house. They send you a text message ahead of time and tell you their technician is coming, and it comes with his picture, so that when he gets to the door, you've had an upfront notice of who is gonna be at your home. He's also got a shirt on with identification.
The technician from All Home Appliance Repair who came out was polite and professional. He had been here twice for our washing machine and it didn't take them long to diagnose. He was on the money. He got permission from AHS for the parts and then, they called me and told me when they were coming back. They’re one of the best companies we've had out here.

My dishwasher and refrigerator claims started out on the same call. There was a buyout option for the dishwasher, but we did the replacement option for it. So the dishwasher has been replaced and the tech had come out a few times for the refrigerator. It gets ice in the bottom of the refrigerator portion. The water freezes up the drain and it’s not draining properly. The contractor was good. He’s replaced some parts and if the issue continues to happen, he has an idea for replacing another part. The issue on the refrigerator hasn't been resolved, but he’s been very prompt whenever we’ve called.

I call in to American Home Shield and I tell them that I have a problem. They ask me what the problem is and I let them know. They tell me how much I’m charged for and that they would make a call to the company that would come out and do the repairs. The contractors' quality of work seems to be okay thus far. They’re very nice and kind. The only thing I have a conflict with is that every time I call, it’s $75. Right now, I’m on a fixed budget. I frown at that, but other than that, I have no complaints. The first summer, I had trouble with my air conditioning and it just so happened there was a part needed for the air conditioner. The tech had the part on the truck and he was able to fix it and I wasn’t charged. Recently the garbage disposal was leaking and the tech had to fix that. He tightened it up and it hasn’t leaked since.

We take pride in knowing where there is an issue a customer may have, and also in making sure it is resolved. In terms of the fee it is due on each call, however it is based on the trade. Northeast Appliance came out to service my dryer, which would not heat up. I submitted it online and I had no problem with it. They tried to put a new motor in it and that didn’t work, and they checked everything out. They put a new timer on it, but they could never get it to where it would heat up. After they tried that everything, they recommended that American Home Shield provide me with a new dryer. American Home Shield gave me a model that they suggested and they gave me a certain amount of money, and the model they selected was not what I wanted. I did not want a dryer with a dropdown door or with a lint screen on top. So, I was able to work through Northeast Appliance Repair as they also sell appliances, and I was able to get a brand-new dryer for less than the money that American Home Shield offered me.

But the company haven't called me back. So this last instance is not very good. It's not getting the job done. The company showed up once to look at it, but I couldn't contact them. Even American Home Shield couldn't contact them. But now I called American Home Shield, explained my dilemma with them, but they're not even getting back for some reason which is very strange, because I have not had problems. It's been frustrating. I like that American Home Shield is always available. I also like that I can place service requests online without having to call someone. So if something happens at 10 o'clock at night, I'm not waiting till the next day to place that service request when they finally open. And while I'm sure nobody's working on it, at least it's already put into the queue and the next day, they'll call us back. So, I've been very pleased with that. If we enter the service needed during work hours, they call us to let us know that they're gonna schedule the service with the appropriate vendor. They've always been super helpful and very quick to respond to those service requests. And they're user-friendly. We are moving, and just with my service for my current location to the new location, which we'll be in next week, that was easy.
I was also highly pleased with their contractor, Air Technical. They came out sooner than we had expected. I guess somebody previously on the list had cancelled and because they were close to my area, they called to see if I was available for them to come in. And I was, which was really convenient for me. My toilet had a a leak due to the wax ring misaligned: AHS refused to change the ring without first triggering more leak. Why would I want additional potential leak damage to be caused if AHS does not cover the damage? I would definitely NOT recommend AHS to anyone.

It was easy to get an update too. The follow-up was almost instantaneous when I place a request. And they did everything. The one where I had Maughanster, the gentleman came in on time and the service was good. It was actually the third time I had placed a call about the same appliance on the same issue. The first time, a different company came, then the second time was the same company but it was a different technician, which I was told is no longer with that company. Now, the gentleman that came in was the one who fixed it, and not only did he fix it, he explained to me what was happening and why he think it was happening.

We called in to American Home Shield and they sent Whitney Electric out. The way that the company was is they just send you a text message saying they were gonna be at your house, and then they give you a six-hour window. You can’t change the time. They told us the next day that they were gonna be there between 11:00 and 5:00. They wound up getting here at like 6:00, which was fine. That was actually easier because we’re home at dinnertime.
We’ve had a few issues with the guys that came out. They were rude, to begin with. I asked them if they could take off their shoes or put boot covers on when they came, but they told me that they don’t take off their shoes. The other guy told me that he could take off his shoes, but he said he just powdered his feet and that if I wanted his dirty powder everywhere. I asked them if I could give them something to put over their feet, but they said no. But when one of my guy friends came around the corner, they wound up taking off their shoes.
They went around and looked at a few things. They didn’t look at everything that was on the list because they said they were running late for the day and they didn’t have that much time. They were kinda snotty about it, and they told me that American Home Shield was not gonna fix any of the stuff and that I might as well just pay them to fix it. But it was clearly not working. They wound up sending in a few of the things, but not everything because we had one of them that was a fully-exposed wire box in our living room, and they didn't look at that. They didn’t send it in. So then, everything got put through.
I talked to the lady at the office a few times, and she was great. It was sort of frustrating because initially, the time that they gave me in a six-hour window didn't work for me. But she told me that that was their contract with American Home Shield and that they don’t have an option. They have to see me within 48 hours, so I had to make it work or they have to cancel my appointment and then American Home Shield won’t refund my money. So I figured it out. But the lady was so nice. She wasn’t rude. She was just kinda matter-of-fact with things. So I called her after the appointment because the techs didn't look at everything that we had initially called in. I asked her what they were sending through, and she said they would send everything through.
When the techs came here, there was a plug in my kitchen that they changed out, but they left it so crooked. They had it where it was set such an angle that you could see the back part of the GFI receptacle. I had to have another friend come and fix it. They didn't fix the one in the living room because the tech said they never got to send that in, so I have to call and do another claim for that. But that was on the first claim. I asked them if they could fix it. It was an exposed wire, and I have three kids. And it gives you a zap when you touch it. But the tech said they can’t fix it.
They changed the two plugs in my kids’ bedrooms with a fan. My daughter’s fan was on in her bedroom when they got there, and when they left, the fan does not work anymore. The tech said the fan wasn’t on, but she always leaves her fan on. But he said that it probably never worked. I told him that the fan was working. They wound up putting in an initial switch in the room, but my daughter's fan still wasn’t working. He told me that it's in the new room and that I could go play with it and to let him know if I have questions. But when I went in the other room, nothing was working. Then he said that it must not be the right switch. They had to leave, go to the store, and come back.
The initial switch that was there controlled the fan on one part of it, and the light on the other part. But all the tech did was put a dimmer for the light, and he told me that we were gonna have to control the fan at the fan base. But it was set up to control both of them. He said that was the switch they got, so that’s what we're gonna have to keep.
My daughter’s fan doesn't work anymore at all, and they didn’t do anything about fixing the electrical box. The tech was snappy, and cursing, and rude with my kids. I tried to keep my kids away, but they were curious. He was getting annoyed with my kids coming and seeing what he was doing. So I called American Home Shield to see about doing a recall, and they said that they would have Whitney Electric send out a senior tech because I did not want those two guys back into my house.
I got a text from Whitney Electric the very next day and gave me the six-hour window. It was just a little frustrating. They got requirements, but can’t we at least talk through if it even works for me. So I texted them back and asked if they could send two different techs because I didn’t want those guys back in my house. Their response back was those are the only two techs they have. I said that I don’t want them in my house and I asked if they have anybody else anywhere. And they said, “Nope, those are the only two techs that service this warranty company.” So that was the only option.
I called back American Home Shield to see about getting a different company, and they said that if I was gonna get a different company, then I have to pay another $75 fee. So I paid that because I don’t want these two guys that were rude and cursing in front of my kids, and they were making stuff worse than it was. American Home Shield sent the claim out to some other company, but that company didn’t service their contract anymore.
A week went by and the contractor never got back to me. American Home Shield called him while I was on hold, and he said he doesn’t do those contracts anymore. So then they said that Whitney Electric is the only company and that they would make them send a senior tech. But I told them that they don’t have any other tech and that these were the only two guys that they send out. American Home Shield said that they were gonna see what they could do about getting a different company, and this was about two weeks ago. I haven’t heard anything back about it.
I’ve called American Home Shield a few times and some of their people were super-nice. Some of them do a better job and then, you get some people that are reading from a script and they can’t think past exactly that verbiage on that script. There was supposed to be a key company that was gonna come out to rekey everything, and they never showed up. I was supposed to get a refund for that. I waited about four weeks and I didn’t get anything. I called and they said it was coming and to wait three more days. So I wound up disputing that with my credit card company.
There was another one where there was a leak in our wall, and the guy said that they would send a plumber. I told him it was not plumbing. It was probably through the roof or the faucet, or it was something outside. But he still said that they were going to send a plumber. He said they have to start with a plumber, and then, if the plumber said it was something else, then they would send a person out. When the plumber got here, he called American Home Shield and said that the issue was not plumbing, and they replied that it was not a covered item. They were supposed to give me a refund for that too because I told them exactly what it was, so they should have said that it wasn’t covered. But the refund never came. So I disputed that with my credit card company too.
For everything, I’ve had to call a few times to talk to people, and some of them were really great and seemed to genuinely care. But the other people were like, “Well, that’s your option. You're gonna have to have those guys back in your house. I don’t care if you don’t feel safe with them. You're gonna have to have them there. That's your option,” which is frustrating when you get those. I get that they have policies and procedures. I’ve worked in a place where we’ve had call centers before, so I totally get that they create scripts to help them understand how to navigate. So I understand that they can be limited at that initial call, but some of them were a little bit rude.
I’m very dissatisfied. But the Lansing Appliance Repair has been amazing to work with. They were here to do some stuff with my washer, my dryer, and my refrigerator. When the tech was here, there was something weird going on with my dishwasher, and he looked at it and it was a super quick fix. He has always been super courteous. I would sit there, and my three-year-old would ask, “What are you doing? Why are you doing that?” And he was super good with her. But this electrical thing has been a mess. We moved into this house on November 13th. I called American Home Shield right away, and we’re going into January and I’ve spent $150, but it’s still not fixed and it’s worse than it was.
I am reaching out to you to inquire if assistance is needed with you request?

Contractors recently came by and worked on the furnace. It would come on but it wasn’t heating up, and it started blanking out big time. The guys came in and did what they had to do, and they explained to me everything that they were doing. Told me what the problem was and went up in the attic and took care of that. American Home Shield was the same warranty that was offered when we bought the house and they did a great job the first year, and we wanted to renew it then. When filing claims, their website is very easy to use. I get a response from them and whatever contractor they use within about 24 hours. It’s awesome. Recently, there were a couple of issues with the microwave, but Runyon Appliance took care of everything. Their communication was great. They had to order a few parts so they kept us informed along the way. The appliance is back up and running. They were very professional and definitely would use them again if we have the opportunity.

We've been on and off with American Home Shield for the majority of 11 years that we've been in this house. It’s what we know so we stuck with them and so far, their service has been good. It's just that there were always lots of hidden clauses, but for the most part, they were good. When they sent out Heritage Air & Heat, their service was great. The technician that had come out was fantastic. He was prompt and he told me what was going on. It didn’t feel like he tried to upsell us on any additional services. The service fee for what we had was not as astronomical, so I didn't feel like I got taken to the cleaners for the service.

My water is starting to back up in my kitchen sink and I have a garbage disposal. So, when the tech from 1st Rate Plumbing came out, he told me to run ice through it. So, he just put the ice down there and it worked at first, but now, it’s starting to slowly back up again. I didn’t think that was gonna be the cure. I paid the claim and all I got were ice cubes put down the thing and that was it. I paid $85 and that didn’t get resolved. I’ve used AHS now for four years, and I’m a real estate agent and I sell their products. So, I’m a little disappointed. He’s a very nice chap and I think he really thought that was gonna cure the problem, but it really didn’t cure the problem. It was temporary. I don’t think that he intentionally tried to deceive me. But he should’ve probably taken off the trap and look through there and see if there was a clog.

The guy from Sunbelt Electric did a great job and repaired our electrical problem. It was just before Christmas and it took him a couple of days, but it was not a critical issue because it was just the kitchen lights and not the whole house. We had to have a ballast put in. I’ve done it over the years myself several times but now I’m too old to climb up there and it’s a difficult, tedious, laborious job. He was very expeditious and professional. He explained some of the problems and did it in about an hour and a half. As soon as he fixed it, it worked, and several weeks later, it’s still working. I’ve also had several jobs with American Home Shield and I’m very happy with them.

I had an issue with my shower leaking. I had been getting notices from the city saying that I had a very big leak on my property, that I was losing water. I couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from. I knew I had one in the shower, but I didn't realize that the one in the toilet was even worse. It was losing water constantly. I called American Home Shield and they sent out City Plumbing. I mentioned that I did have a leak on my toilet and the plumber showed me how to fix it. It was a really easy fix and it stopped the big leak from happening ever again. Everything went great.
I’ve had some people from AHS come out before and they have not been very helpful. One guy came for my AC unit and he said, “You need to replace this whole thing. We don’t cover it.” So, he didn't really explain himself. He was very abrupt and made me feel like I was wasting his time so I wasn’t really happy. But I appreciated that this gentleman heard something that was simple and pointed it out to me and said, “You can fix it yourself. It’s not a hard thing to do.” And it was one of those things where it’s mostly the fact that I’m not gonna be getting the letter from the city anymore saying that there's a lot of water leaking on my property.
There are a lot of things that AHS claim that they’ll fix, but I’ve been told, “Oh, we won’t do that,” “Oh, we can’t do that,” “Oh, that doesn’t cover that.” So, they have very few things that they cover, so I don’t feel that they're being very honest. But at the same time, I don’t use it a lot just because it seems like every time there's something that they're gonna fix, I don’t feel they're providing the service. But this one time this gentleman from City Plumbing came out, he really did help me out.

I called American Home Shield on Monday morning complaining 'cause I really don't know what was going on as my heat stopped working. The last time their tech from Extreme Heating & Air came out, he changed the thermostat and the heat worked for a week so. However, once I went back to the house, the heater wouldn't connect with the thermostat and it wouldn't work again. The heater works but then when I set it to 78, it would never reach that. Alternatively, I could set it but then it would turn off. That was a ripoff.
Still, the tech was helpful and he let me know exactly what he was doing. It was tricky for him because he did turn it out. He would think that it was working but then, three hours later, it would turn off. I knew he was trying to get it done. He did a good job and he was nice to us. Other than the issue of the problem still not being fixed yet, everything has been pretty good with AHS.

We’re not sure what to do now. But he was very nice and fantastic. He really did above and beyond to help. He really was great. He did everything that was possible. He said that usually, there’s a cap outside the house in the yard that should be accessible to drain and snake the drain from the outside, but he couldn’t find it. And it was starting to leak back there that I kinda expected that we had to get in and tear our drywall on the first floor and get up under this thing and fiddle with pipes. It ended up being just something where there was a bad seal. But the contractor, A 3 Aces Plumbing, found it, diagnosed it fast, and fixed it, and we haven't had a problem since. I called American Home Shield to file a claim and I talked to somebody. And then, Sears came out and got our ref and microwave fixed up. They did a awesome job. Both the service techs was really good. Some of the AHS reps I've dealt with have been better than others and that’s with every job. Before their contractor would come out, you gotta pay $100. Their rep got a mistake on my card and they sent me a bill in the mail. I called and said that I already paid it. Apparently, they had the wrong number and the rep took care of it. Other than that, everything was great. I got my stuff together and got it fixed, and all is well.
We’ve just been in the house two years and we got AHS free for the first year and we wanted to keep it up so we started paying it ourselves. And God is good because we don’t wanna have to pay for the stuff. I just hate that they don’t give new stuff. They keep repairing them. They told me that only when things are completely gone out will they be replaced. We learn that stuff because we have never owned a home in Florida before. This is our first home we bought here because we came from Michigan. So far, the appliances are doing good. Whenever something tears down, we got coverage. They line you up with good people to take care of your stuff. So, that’s a good thing. The price could be a bit cheaper though as you get it every year. We’re seniors, so they could give us a better discount than what they do. I hope they hear us.

We’ve had Aladdin’s Plumbing before through American Home Shield and they’re reliable. They seem like a big company. We’re expecting them today to finish a job, for which we needed a part we just received. American Home Shield is a pretty reliable service and you can select the things you want covered. We’ve renewed every year. It's just that if you call them, sometimes you’re on hold for a very long time. They’re more oriented towards online, which works sometimes for simple things but if there’s a complex explanation, then it doesn’t work well. For instance, our refrigerator is a GE and we want only GE service people to service it. In the past, we’ve had other appliance companies servicing it but they haven’t really known what to do. GE service people can get right to the problem and they know exactly what to do. So, we insist upon a GE repair person, and sometimes it isn’t always easy. But it’s getting easier with time.
Thanks for trusting AHS for your warranty needs. I apologize for the inconvenience as the hold time can be lengthy at times. We look forward to handling your warrant needs. Have a great week.

He had that app which shows you he's coming, what he looks like. And when he was here, everything was perfect. He communicated very well and explained how the dryer works. It was repaired and it now works perfectly. However, for items like getting my house rekeyed, it took about 48 hours for AHS to get somebody. And then, I called their rep and they said they weren't able to get somebody out in a week, so we had somebody else outside the warranty. That was unacceptable as far as rekeying a newly purchased house. I'm not saying it was a bad thing. It could be just because I'm coming from a bigger city and where I moved to isn't so big and that could be the reason.

I put in a claim for both the oven and the dishwasher. There was something wrong with the panel of the oven. The oven would work then stop working so it needed to be changed. The seal from the inside of the oven also needed to change. The first dude who came out was not able to recognize any of that. He was a nightmare in the sense that he was technically incompetent and extremely rude. The second guy who came out from AH Appliance was great, very professional, knowledgeable, technical, respectful, and amazing. He was able to diagnose it right away and find the issue, get the parts, and fix it.
I would like to see American Home Shield improve on the following things. Number one, be very vigilant in selecting their contractors because we pay good money as consumers. In return, I would expect service from a technical perspective and an interpersonal perspective. The first guy was disrespectful. I had an American Home Shield representative on the line and he heard everything, and I had to get the guy out of my house.
Number two, their internal processes needed to be improved. When this first guy came in, I requested a second opinion because he said that there was nothing wrong with the appliances. AHS agreed to send a second opinion and they would not charge me the service fee. Well, they charged me the service fee. And again, when they sent the second opinion, they said that if they would diagnose, they would not charge the service fee again. Guess what? They charged me the service fee again. They kept sending me emails that my account is delinquent. They could send it for collection. Their internal communication is messed up. I had to call not less than seven or eight times and then escalate it to the escalations department to get this fixed. Each time, I'll be on the phone for an hour and a half. I cannot waste a good eight to 10 hours of my life chasing after American Home Shield to fix a mistake that they have created.

Right away, I called them and I renewed my policy with that promotion. But they never gave me the promotion.
So, I kept calling them and asking, and it had been a long process but no one was willing to answer me. They said their supervisor would call me back and they put me on hold for one hour and a half online, and they never replied to me. At the moment, I’m very unsatisfied and this is like cheating. American Home Shield sent out Washington Electrician Service for an electric issue and they came out yesterday. It didn't go too well at all. When we told him what the problem was, he had to get inside the wall to do the job and allegedly, my warranty don't cover any of that. It sounded from the very beginning when I signed up that this policy will cover everything, but now I'm finding out there are certain things they don't cover. And one of the problems that I had with my electrical, they didn't name it as one of them. I've had this kind of problem before, but somebody else came in and managed to fix it. Now, all of a sudden, all this pops up and I'm without light. I can't even turn on my front porch light nor my lights in my living room. And certain parts of my bedroom and my daughters' bedrooms don't light. I can't get power because of that.
It was a plumbing problem and they couldn't go in and re-pipe the house. They have all these little things they can't do, but I'm still expected to pay the money every month plus pay service fees, which I've been doing with no problem. And now, all of a sudden, they can't do anything and I gotta call in an electrician and pay lord knows how much money to get in there and do which this company can't do! A whole lot needs to be improved in AHS. People pay endless amount of money on a monthly basis and then they'd come back and tell you what they can't do and what they can do, but they can rightfully take money for you to have that service. That's what's screwed up about the whole situation from American Home Shield or from other warranty companies.

We talked and he was very professional about his work. He knew what he was doing and has been doing it for 18 years. He was telling me things that I can do to make my dishwasher work better. The dishwasher is now running great. I will recommend him for anybody, for any appliance. But I had an issue prior to him, with a plumber. And AHS would rather believe the plumber than the actual customer, which was me. So, that put a real sour taste in my mouth with American Home Shield. Now, I'm going to make a decision to find a different company because of how pissed off I was when I went through that

The customer service reps of AHS were okay when I submitted a claim for my water heater and dishwasher. The people who did the hot water heater were okay. But my wife said the one who did the dishwasher didn't give her enough explanation of why they couldn't fix it and they were supposed to get back and say if a part or something was missing, 'cause I just wanted to see if it was in the contract to be covered, but they never got back with us. And the dishwasher's still down. But I got the hot water heater problem fixed.

Our heating system was blowing cold air and American Home Shield sent Harkins AC, Heating & Controls out. The guy that came out did a fantastic job and the experience was okay. But for some odd reason, it worked for a day, then it didn’t work, and now, it's working again. The service technician was great for the most part. My mom’s place, where he did the work on, is 80 something years old and she's very pleased with the work. But we may have to call him out again because it's still intermittent.
Those intermittent issues can be tricky Carlos. I have had a similar experience with my HVAC system. I'm glad that the issue is currently resolved. Please contact us if you or your mom need assistance. Have a great week.

I’ve been satisfied with American Home Shield's service. On my most recent claim, their contractor came and figured out what was pretty evident about the water heater. They then contacted American Home Shield to tell them that it had to be replaced, and they ordered it. And then, they put the water heater in as soon as it came in. It was pretty quick from when they came out to when they put it in.

I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield. They’ve come through on a number of issues that we’ve had on our home from garage door to plumbing. We had a refrigerator that was less than 4 years old and we were having many problems with it. Dealing with American Home Shield was very easy and they sent out a company. Their recommendation was to get a new refrigerator and American Home Shield got everything taken care of within 3 days. They were phenomenal. Then, for a plumbing issue, Brick Street was sent out and everybody was professional. As a matter of fact, they were 20 minutes early than what was quoted originally. They were very clean, very efficient, and in and out within an hour.
We used to have a different home warranty provider and we were not satisfied with them at all. We went with American Home Shield and we renewed with them two times now. I have already recommended them to 3 people and I highly recommend them to anybody who has a new home or an existing home that they’ve purchased recently.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Alan. We look forward to handling you warranty needs. Have an amazing week.

I woke up and I saw a glow inside the oven, and there was a tiny fire in it. I did the claim online because it was the middle of the night, and I got a contractor the next morning. Access Appliance Repair was terrific. They were here quickly and did a good job. They told me that I would have to get a new heating element, and they would have to order it because it was not a typical thing that you could fix without a part. Then they told me, "We shut the power off to the oven," and then they came back and fixed it. It's working perfectly for the holidays.

My grandma has AHS next door and she thinks it's a good idea for me to get it, too. I've had AHS for the past two years and so far, my experience has been good. Submitting a claim on my phone is easy and their contractors are good. I've had to use Home Shield a few times. My dryer went out a year ago and they got it fixed. I also had a toilet that was unsealed from the floor and I had to call them out to fix that. The claim with my AC unit was pretty good, too. American Heating and Cooling was professional. There's still something they've gotta do. The technician told me to call them when it gets warmer and I'm thinking about turning the air conditioner on. They've gotta put a pump on there to make the condensation come out from under the house. But that's something that American Home Shield won't cover. Other than that, everything with my AC claim got done and it went pretty fast.
Thanks for sharing your AHS experience. We look forward to handing you and your grandmother's warranty needs. Have a great week.

American Home Shield's customer service is not too bad, but at the same time, it takes a long time. If I had an emergency, forget it. It would have been a couple of days by the time they get a contractor in, which is what I’ve been experiencing. I understand this time of year is also an issue. Moreover, I got mixed emotions with the last contractor. He didn’t quite give me a good solution to my problem. He stopped the leak, which was fine, but he ended up just taping the tubing that came off the refrigerator to the wall, which was not a professional move at all. And I’m not happy with it.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you to make sure your issue is resolved. I look forward to assisting you.

My cousin recommended American Home Shield and I've been with them for three years. They need a more established group of contractors to rely on. For instance, one of the issues that we had was with our pool heater. They seemed to have had a hard time getting someone here in a reasonable amount of time. By their contract, they were supposed to have somebody here within 48 or 72 hours. But the guy didn’t show up for a week and AHS said it was hard to find someone in that area of specialty. That’s not my problem though. That’s kind of the reason that I got the contract with them so I didn’t have to do that. They have to find contractors.
AHS certainly knows how to automate payments. But they don’t stand out from the other companies. For HVAC, they seem to have found someone good. I can’t say much for the other people they’ve sent out though. We had two repairs that were just a disaster and was really difficult to deal with. I called AHS multiple times. The service was not very good. But when AHS sent out Bob Jones Heating & Energy, that guy was a lot better than the previous contractors AHS sent us. The guy was terrific. He showed up when he said he was going to and he fixed the problem.
Hi Jill,

Air 72 came out to service my furnace that was not cutting on properly and it was a follow-up. We’d used them about 25 days prior and the first guy had cleaned the furnace. When it messed up again, I went through Home Shield and they contacted Air 72. A new guy came back out on the reoccurring call within an hour of when we made it. This time, he found out that the problem was that the furnace had a loose board with a defect with it. The board was replaced, so that resolved the problem. They didn’t really see that the first time, which is easy to see that something like that could have happened, but the problem was found the second time they came and they corrected it. Also, both guys were good folks and very professional. I'm very pleased.

Southeast Texas Plumbing was fantastic. They were outstanding with their professionalism, were on time and kept me informed. When they came here they looked at the problem, and took care of it. I couldn't be any happier with it. And I’m pretty much really tight with American Home Shield because when I was in North Carolina I was a preferred contractor for them, so I knew exactly what they should be doing. They hit all the points. These guys were great. I highly recommend them. I also have somebody else come to my home, and it’s those that I want because they inform you. And a lot of times, customers will have questions and all they want is an answer, and these guys really, really do a good job with it.
But one thing I found with American Home Shield and from the customers’ complaints is that when you go online, unless you spoke to somebody, there aren’t enough dropdown boxes to really explain what the problem is, so sometimes the wrong person gets sent. I’ve had a lot of these people who were like, “Wait a minute these are the only options I got.” So I tell my wife, “Hey, the best thing to do is call them and talk to them. Don’t do it online.” But AHS does a great job on these, anyway. I’m totally happy.

When the furnace wasn’t putting out warm air, I spoke with a lady and she called who was available first, and Air Majesty was the first one that was available. After I got off the phone with her, it was a short time before Majesty called me and set up an appointment date. I had an electric igniter for the heater and the tech had to go find one, and that took a couple of days. But the gentleman was knowledgeable and very polite, and understood that I’m a handicapped person and I take a little time to get to the front door. He came back and put the igniter in.

We bought our American Home Shield policy when we closed on our home, and we'll probably keep it. They've helped me and I really appreciate it. It's nice to know that there’s somebody to reach out to for help and I know it's gonna be $75. However, on top of the $75 I paid, the first electrician that came out charged me 260 because he had to do something. And then we had to call him back because what he did didn't fix the issue. We had to pay another 220. It was a really simple thing and he didn't do much of anything.
I also paid $75 for a guy to come out here and put some silicone around my ice maker, which I could have done if he told me what to do. I wouldn't have to pay him $75 to put silicone around it. But that's okay, we learn and we live. The young man was very nice and he sent me the information to replace a little tray that was missing where water comes out. Everything is working fine now and we haven't seen it ice up at all. We're happy with American Home Shield and they've done really good.

American Home Shield is the way to go, especially when you don’t know what to do and ain’t no telling when stuff's gonna break down, and they either fix it or replace it. I had a recent claim for a plumbing issue. It was my hot water side of my bathroom. It was leaking. And I gotta give it to them. It was very prompt. I needed to talk to somebody, so I called and talked to them. Their reps were very professional, very patient, very understandable, and they listened. They sent Watson Mechanical, and they were here a little bit before they said they were gonna be here, which I liked because I don’t wanna wait all day. They were in and out. They didn’t take that long.
The hot side of the sink in the bathroom was dripping water. And I looked at it upside down and sideways. I’ve never seen anything else like that, so I didn’t know what to do. I knew the problem but I didn’t know how to fix it. Watson Mechanical has been doing it a long enough time. So, they knew exactly what it was, what to take loose and what not to take loose. And they went on and fixed it. They had the part on the truck and they told me they had to go and get it. It was a woman and a gentleman that came here, and I thank them. I checked good before they left. I’ve been looking at it everyday, and I chalk that up for victory.

I’m one-income and if my air goes or whatever, it’s cheaper than buying a new one, so I kept them. The contractors that they've sent have been okay, except Greenway. I don’t ever want him in my house again. They came and fixed something on my air conditioner, and I paid $375 plus the $75 service charge. But I was mad because all he had to do was go through AHS, then I won’t need to have to pay the $75. The AHS rep that I talked to afterwards said he’ll give me a $100 credit. I have an issue with the humidifier on the furnace. I called AHS and, before scheduling, confirmed that it was covered. The rep said because it was a part of the furnace, it was covered. But when Budget AC, Heating & Plumbing came out, they said that it was an accessory and that it was not covered. It was a big waste of time and money. I had done my due diligence and so I was pretty excited about it. I told my husband that it was gonna be covered and that I went ahead and scheduled the service. But now, I'm down $75 and I still didn't have it repaired. Plus now, I have to get some bids of my own to get it paid for. So I have an issue going on with AHS to look into it and call me back.
In the meantime, I am working to get my $75 service fee back from AHS. I called them on the 30th and they said that they have made the report to have somebody look into it and they would get back to me. I called again today and she said that she saw that a report had been made and that she has not seen any progress made on it but that she was gonna look into that and then let me know how long they thought it would be before I would get my money back.

American Home Shield's customer service was good, but the company they chose to represent them out in the field didn't really represent them well. I got Heros Plumbing and, at first, I was a little rocky with them. When they called me to schedule my appointment, I confirmed with them that they were doing the garbage disposal and the hose bib outside but they said they just have the garbage disposal. I asked them to call American Home Shield to confirm but they said they don't have time for that. They also told me that if I didn't want them to come out, then they won't come out. I called American Home Shield and they said they had the hose bib on there. They called Heros Plumbing, and then Heros Plumbing called me back the next day and said they were gonna come out and do the hose bib and garbage disposal. And then the plumber did a good job on it.
There is obviously a breakdown in communication between the plumbing company and American Home Shield. The plumbing company, for some reason, didn't have the full story or didn't wanna say the full story and they were not interested in helping the customer out at all. If I'm calling a plumber, I'll never call Heros Plumbing because of the experience I had with them.
We do apologize with the delay with the company. Thank you for sharing your experience and we will take into consideration of your experience.

Then the contractor who came out took two weeks to fix everything because they had to order some parts. When they actually got everything together, they were only there for about a day. They were good and professional. Everything was working great after they got it all fixed. We also got our locks changed out through AHS and that was fast.
Thank you for your positive feedback, we do apologize the procedure took awhile, however it is good to know it was taken care of. We would like to thank you for reaching out to us to share your experience.

The heater was having issues, and Matt's Plumbing had to come out multiple times. It got me to assume that it was maybe the wire in the first place and it was never my heater. But at this point I was already out 425 bucks that they charged me plus the $100 deductible, and now, I just had to get the wire changed which put me out another $500 something. So I wish AHS would have sent me like a plumber/electric person in the first place because to me, as the customer, I feel like I spent an extra $525 with Matt's Plumbing that I probably didn't have to spend in the first place because it was the wire from get-go.
I had another plumber come out after they left, and they told me that they did the upgrade and they said they switched out this and that, that they should have switched out the wire as well. And that was what made me upset. Everything is working properly, but with $1,300 later out of my pocket. Anything I do to that home because the home's from 1929 is gonna be an upgrade regardless. But had Matt's Plumbing been experts on electricians, it probably would have saved not only me time and money, but also AHS, because I feel that my heater was never bad in the first place.
I've been dealing with heater issues since November. R & R called me and told me a date and then R & R didn't fulfill that date. So as a consumer I feel like I've been given the runaround and I'm out all this money at the same time having warranty. I feel like I didn't have any warranty because now I'm scared. I thought I was gonna sell the property. I canceled and then I re-signed again, but when you re-signed on, you have to wait for 30 days again, which I didn't know. I should've waited to see if the home was gonna sell at that point. In fact, when I canceled in August, I feel like if these people tell AHS anything that it's an upgrade, AHS is gonna come to me with the section 103 blah blah blah because anything I do in the house is gonna be upgrade anyways. Even if the refrigerator goes out, the refrigerator is gonna be an upgrade.
It left a bad taste in my mouth, and me, knowing that I have warranty, I still had to come out of pocket all this money. Like Matt's Plumbing, I've read some of their reviews, and I called AHS and said they might wanna think about using somebody else because on the reviews Home Shield customers were saying that Matt's Plumbing goes out to that they're hooking 400 to $475, regardless. And to be honest all the contractor did was to put new water hoses and put a drain pan, which in reality, I didn't use the drain pan in the first place because the heater's outside. I'm still with AHS but if I gotta use another claim I'm skeptical because if any of these people say upgrades, I know I'm gonna have to come out of pocket. The only thing they did because it was still related to the heater, was not charge me the other $100. But their reps were good as far as when I get ahold of them or I talk to somebody.

Appliance Network has been out four times, and they're supposed to be coming back tomorrow to bring another part that they're gonna put on. And I'm very ticked. I'm really not happy about this. I called them December 18th. And every time the company came out, they'd bring a part, but I have a family and we've had to buy clothes. We've had to go to the laundromat because we wash quite a bit, and I hate that it's taking so long.
I got into American Home Shield's program because you wanna make things simpler and I thought it would be better. It's taking too long. I need to get things done and I cannot wash. So, I'm hoping something works out tomorrow because they can't keep coming out. Something has to be done. It's very disappointing. I called them each time, and they make appointment, and they come out. It's just the same thing. I want it done.
I first called on December 18th, and it had gone out the day before. And they've already made four trips out and each time they make a trip, I've got a window of 12:00 to 3:00 or longer. Then that's keeping me home all those times too and still I'm not getting anything done. And it was bad because it was during the Christmas holidays. So, there were a lot of things I couldn't do. I'm very dissatisfied, and with what I'm going through, I wouldn't tell someone else, "Yeah, try it."
We do apologize that you have had this delay with your washer. We know that being a major appliance can be hassle. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you in this matter with your case.

Whenever I have a claim, I like to speak with someone at AHS and the representatives I talked to were pleasant. Recently, I had an issue with the garbage disposal and it didn't take long for AHS to send out a tech from Anytime Home services. Their normal time is 24 to 48 hours, and somebody came out within that time. The tech was also fine and now the garbage disposal is working.
But I had one bad experience with them and it had to do with my air conditioner. I had somebody that came out about five times to repair the same problem who eventually turned around and said that if he comes out again, they've gotta replace it. And lo and behold, the same thing was happening in the middle of summer. Then, AHS had to get a second opinion and they sent somebody else out. We had a four ton air conditioner unit in and we only have an 1,850 square foot house, but the tech said the four ton is too small for that. However, all our neighbors have the same size of AC unit. Still, they said that they couldn't do it for some obscure reason. They were only supposed to replace it with the same unit but the guy said it has to have a five ton in there, so it ended up costing me $6,000 out of pocket.
In all the years that I've been with AHS, they should not have treated me like they did. Every single person there had a four ton air conditioner and some of the houses are 2,300 square feet. It was wrong that the guy turned around and said that I gotta have a five ton air conditioner to do the same job. That was overkill because at the moment, I had to put it in and AHS wouldn't have insured me if I didn't put in the correct size air conditioner.
I can understand your frustration with paying out of pocket cost for your HVAC & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have a great week.

My sister has had American Home Shield for a long time and it just seemed like a good idea. I got them as well and have had it for a year and a half already. The only thing is that when I call, if they're gonna follow up on the calls, they need to do it much more quickly. I called them about my dryer and they referred me to Todd’s Appliances. The tech was courteous and professional. There were some parts in the dryer that weren’t working and it took forever to get them but the repair was done eventually. The tech did a fine job and the dryer is working great now.

I was going through a divorce. Being a single woman, needing that kind of protection and having a little bit more of a financial peace of mind, I thought of getting a home warranty. I did a lot of research and I found that American Home Shield had the best array of protection from many more different appliances and items and things that would need repair more than the competition, and at a pretty decent and fair price. I've been with them for over two and half years now.
Their website is user-friendly. I work in digital advertising, so I'm pretty aware. It's working and I find it really easy to navigate. I used it to submit my claim regarding my dishwasher. After filing, I received an email. It took a couple of days to get the contractors out. The part of the dishwasher where it hooked the top rack onto the slidy thing seemed it would come off or slid off. The contractor noticed, when he came to look at it, that it was broken off, like it had worn off. He did a phenomenal job. I was very happy with it and everything has been great since then.
We do appreciate the feedback pertaining to your warranty experience. We strive in making sure each experience is better than the last. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and or concerns. Have A Great Day.

I'm very disappointed with Express Appliance. They've been here twice. They fixed the refrigerator. They said they fixed the dishwasher and it's leaking water everywhere. I was gonna call them for that one. This will be the 3rd visit since December 9th when it's 1 month. No icemaker, and now the dishwasher is leaking water. Every time I run it I have to mop up the floor because the water is coming right out the side, and I don't have ice. I want it for Christmas and they said either they finish the 20th then I said, "Can I have it for New Year's? I want to schedule an appointment right before then." But they said they didn't have any available so that's when they gave me January 3rd. It was from 2-6.
That morning they called and said that the technician had an emergency that put me in the 10th from 8 to noon. And then the tech had ordered a valve for the refrigerator and the parts department cancelled it because they said I needed a different water filter. It was Jerry, and he evaluated it and ordered 2 parts. He came back on the 20th of last month and put the 2 parts in, but it still didn't work. He said that I needed a valve. I said, "If that filter is wrong, order it, and then I'll pay for it."
Now when I called the company to pay for it, they said it wasn't ordered yet, and then they had to call back. So then they called me and said they cancelled the valve and if they just brought the filter, it would be 120 dollars. I said, "What would be coming here? I'll install it myself. If you could just order it and I'll pay for the parts." But they said they couldn't do that so I ordered it. They gave me a parts number. I put it in and I knew it wasn't gonna work. So, now I know we need a valve but they cancelled the valve so he'll be coming on the 10th without it then have to order it again.
When I called I said, "I hope you cancelled the valve. Not just evaluate it then order the parts, because then they won't work even later. So the guy is coming without that valve and he won't be able to do anything. He didn't do it the last time he was here." So, I asked for a different company and they said I'm stuck with the same company when I called. But they're not fixing it. I'm very dissatisfied. My sister recommended Home Shield to me and didn't have this kind of luck. I told her, this is the 3rd time that they're trying to install and she said told me to call and ask for a different company. And then when I did, AHS said no so I have to have the same technician come back.
Good morning Linda,

American Home Shield does what they say they're gonna do. I've been with them for three years now. I submitted the claim online to repair the furnace and there was a heating/plumbing company assigned to it. It took a few days to get in touch with them and the guy came out within three days. He said he couldn't fix it because it was something with the zone controller and we had to have an electrician do it. Then AHS assigned an electrician to it and when I called the electrician, he said that he couldn't fix it. It was part of the heating system. The first guy that came out was clueless and he didn't know what he was doing. I ended up getting another heating and plumbing company, and they were out within half a day and fixed it in about 20 minutes. So the second heating and plumbing guy, Boldt's Plumbing, was the one that ultimately fixed it. The furnace is operational now.

Having a home warranty for a purchased home that had been previously lived in was a good idea because I would never know what problems I might find. The realtor selected American Home Shield and we've been with them since we purchased our home in November of 2019. When my dishwasher stopped running, I called them and I spoke to a representative who assigned me to Sears. There was someone available the next day and so they scheduled for him to come out.
The contractor who came out was excellent. He was very personable and he knew what he was doing. He diagnosed the problem and spent enough time here so he knew what was wrong. There were 2 electronic boards that went bad and they needed to be replaced. Sears ordered the correct parts and then I called them back. They scheduled a visit right away to come back and repair it. They did a great job and everything's been better than before. Everything was excellent and I was very satisfied with them.

I called AHS to submit my claim and it was easy. It’s just kind of frustrating because it’s really hard to get ahold of anybody from their contractor Whitney Holdings. The amount was gonna be quite a bit more than I would have anticipated, and the people at American Shield said that sometimes companies will work with you on price. So I’m waiting to hear back from them. For some reason, we’re just playing a lot of phone tag. But once I get ahold of somebody, they're great.
Also what I would like is probably not possible, but when it says that it’s covered, it would be nice that it really was all the way covered. And I don’t know if it was just because mine was a unique situation. My water heater is like a special model. AHS told me that I could have a buyout or that I could call Whitney and see if they would work with me on the price at all. So that’s what I’m doing right now. I'm trying to call Whitney because it’s just easier than having to find somebody else and then stick around with it.

I'm super satisfied and would recommend Baylis to anybody. They did a fine job. I had an issue with the air conditioning, the AC condenser and then the AC cylinder. It was the part that's in the house that would never shut off. It just kept running. So, I called American Home Shield and then Baylis came out and he said that the computer that's attached to the motor doesn't recognize when it's that temperature, and so it either just keeps running or doesn't run. So, he said he had to get a new motor, and he said, "I'll be back tomorrow."
He was super nice. He was on time. He told me what was going on. I started to question what he had said, and so I called him later and asked him again like, "Okay, so you're saying it's the computer but you're having to replace everything with the motor." He explained it like I was a four-year-old and was considerate and answered my questions. And then he'd made the comment and he came back on time and fixed it and left. It was very nice, so I was happy.
I submitted the claim online. I was not very tech-savvy, and I thought navigating AHS' website was pretty easy. I didn't blow up anything or melt the world, so it worked out well. I was super happy because not knowing what was going on, we had just bought the house and lived in it a month, and it was like, "Oh, crap, we're gonna have to get the air conditioning fixed," and then it's like, "Oh wait, I have insurance." And it worked out great. They did what they stated they were going to do when we purchased the policy, and I was very happy with how everything went, that there was no delay or pissing and moaning about having to get something done. Everyone was nice and answered my questions.
Thanks for sharing your feedback Kevin. Have an amazing week.

I had to call and make an appointment and the rep from Dave's Plumbing told me that he would put me on his schedule. He didn’t even tell me what day he would come, he would just say, “I would come maybe the end of the week.” So, closer to the end of the week, he called and said he was on his way, so I said, “Okay.” The handle on my kitchen faucet pulls off, I didn’t undo any screws or anything, it just pulls off. So, when I had the leak that night, I saw some water on our cabinets, so I wasn’t sure if it was coming out of the top of my faucet or not. So, all I did was pull the handle straight off and didn’t see any water. I’m disabled, so my son looked up under the cabinet and said, “Daddy, it’s leaking from under here.”
So, he came out and said, “Sure enough, it was leaking from one of the supply lines,” and he fixed it. I saw him the whole time in there messing with the handle, pushing it back and forth, sideways, turning around. He was spinning it around backwards. And I saw him doing that the whole time, and I thought there was something inside of that handle where he was going to have to replace. However, he never replaced anything and told me it was the supply line. When he got finished and left, I noticed that I had hardly any water pressure.
I called him and he said that it was due to the handle and the handle is not covered under warranty. I asked why would it not be covered. He said, “Because it was taken apart when I got there.” I told him that it wasn’t taken apart, and that I showed him while he was here that it slips on and slips off. He said, “Well, there’s parts missing.” I said, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I showed you all I did.” In the end, the leak got fixed and then he left.
Well, we had a bowl up under there from where it was previously leaking, and I saw a a drop or two in there. I called him back, telling that this has happened to me four or five years ago. When they turned the water off, sometimes, when you turn it back on, it takes a couple or three days for it to stop dripping. He said that it could have been water just up inside the handle dripping. With it being the holidays, I said I would give it a week or so, and if it was still leaking the following week, I would call him back. I called him back about a week later and saying that it is still leaking, and he said that he would put you on his schedule. However, I haven't heard one word since then. Nevertheless, yesterday, my daughter checked it and said that the bowls were dry, so it may have stopped leaking. The guy was a super nice guy and he fixed the ultimate problem other than the handles, but he told me he was going to contact me but he never did.
Overall, American Home Shield is very prompt in taking care of things, and I'm satisfied. I realized it was leaking at about 6:30 at night, and I went ahead online to put in my service request. In a matter of 30 minutes, they already sent me a text saying who the plumber was going to be. A couple of years ago, I had issues with my refrigerator, and they went right on it and took care of it. That one didn’t have any issues.

I currently have a paid in full 1 year warranty with American home Shield. It's 10:30pm, the main sewer line in my home is stopped up. Nothing in my home drains, no sinks, no showers, no baths and especially no toilets! I put in a request for service with American Home Shield. I let them know the main sewer line in my home was stopped. After the request for service was made I instantly received an email letting me know that a service provider was assigned to my request for service and that the service provider would contact me in within 24 business hours to schedule an appointment. How does that sound to you? 24 business hours! Yes! Three days!! How would you and your family do with no bathroom for three days?
I called the provider at 8am the next morning to verify they received my service request, there was no answer so I left a detailed message. I called again at noon, no one picked up. It is now 3pm in the afternoon, I have not received a call back. Since I did not receive a call back, I called them. Someone picked, they said they were making the schedule and they were getting ready to call me and they will call me shortly to set up an appointment. I never received a call. I called AHS to cancelled my service request and have my service fee returned to me. I verified with customer service that the service provider has three days before they are required to call me to schedule an appointment. This is completely unacceptable. I been having home shield warranty for about 3 years. I paid my premium yearly and I been lucky enough to only need their service once to re-key my home. But just recently my refrigerator broke down in October 2019. I called them to place the request and paid the $75.00 dollar fee. They sent a Technician from Accord Appliance. He smelled like cigarettes and was rude. He fix my fridge and it was working fine for a week and it broke down again. They send a different technician and he fixed it again. Worked for about 5 weeks and now it is broken again. I had no fridge during Christmas and all my groceries have to be discarded this is the 3rd time that I have to do this.
I called on Dec 26, 2019 to report the problem and a representative from Home Shield named Maria said she will get back to me within 24 hours to see if they will approve my refrigerator to be replaced. I called back on Dec 31, 2019 and home shield states they have no record of me calling on Dec 26, 2019 and that they have no one by the name “Maria” working in their department. They need me to pay the $75.00 dollars service fee to send a technician again and see if they can repair it. In the meantime I have no fridge and having to buy groceries daily is putting my family in a hardship. I just feel like I am being taking advantage of. I just want my fridge fixed or replaced, do what you promise me the customer when you collected the yearly premium.
We do apologize for the delay in making sure the appliance is handled properly. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further in this matter.

The warranty company used to be fine until the calls started routing to some customer care in Philippines. I had an issue with washer leaking water and created a service request in June 2019. A part had to be ordered and until we made several calls, the part was not ordered. After the part was ordered, it took around 3 months to fix it to the washer. The mechanical company being used doesn't respond to the calls/voice message or text messages. AHS Philippines call center has no clue or control over the mechanical company and they just ask us to pay the service fees and request online. If the delay is on their side, I could not understand why I had to pay another service fees. The answer was they did visit and it's been 60 days after the visit and hence I had to pay.
I asked them for their employee number or some identification and I am told that there is nothing. On top of it, they don't log the information of the call. I insisted on getting the supervisor and some guy faked to be a supervisor and could not give any identification to refer them. This call center is a sham. Luckily after 4-5 attempts, I could catch hold of an US-based representative and she was able to send the technician in 2-3 days. But it didn't fix the issue and again the in-numerous number of calls and luck of hitting a US-based representative was frustrating to the core.
It's been almost two months trying to catch hold of them and I am just being asked to pay the trade service fees again even though the issue was reported long back. The representatives are not logging the information correctly. And to my bad luck, every time I am hitting a call center guy in Philippines. There is no way to write to them and am seriously considering cancelling the subscription.
I do apologize this has been a bad experience. My name is Robert and I will be looking into your case, to have this issue taken care of.

Practical Pools & Ponds came out for a pool issue and everything went fine. They were on time and they did what they were supposed to do. I had another call and I had them come out also for my dryer. They came and looked at it and they said there was a kit that they needed to put on there and they had to order that. And they were gonna come back Thursday of this next week but I haven't seen anything about their coming back Thursday. It doesn’t make sense from a consumer standpoint that when we have a problem, we call somebody out and they come out and say, “Yeah, you gotta problem and this is covered, but we have to come back in another week.” That’s fine if it’s something that you don’t have to use, but if it was your furnace in the wintertime, that would not be very good. The same way with the refrigerator.
One of the things that AHS need to do is they need to put on their called ID that they're American Home Shield so that people will answer. Normally, I would not have answered the phone. The thing with the pool was excellent. The thing with this dryer, I felt like they should have come back and said, “Hey, the part’s gonna be in next week and we’ll be back next Thursday,” or “You’re scheduled on xyz, so you don’t have to sit around the house all day waiting for them to come.”
Hi Glenn,
Thank you for sharing feedback about your most recent American Home Shield experience to have the pool and dryer repaired. I would be glad to speak with you if the dryer still needs to be completed.

It’s easy to submit a claim with AHS if I call them, though I also do it online. I had one recently where they sent out Myers Comfort Specialist and my experience with them was great. The techs were very good in communicating with me and they did what I really wanted. They replaced three flow valves because they were leaking, then they put putty in my toilet. They replaced the base on the toilet as well.

American Home Shield was recommended by the person who was managing our property initially. She also was our Realtor. We had a recent AC unit claim and it went real well. It was shockingly quick and easy. It's a shame I called them too late on a Friday because they don't work on the weekend. So, it was a long weekend, but other than that, the guy from Beaches came first thing Monday, was very courteous and very helpful and fixed everything quickly. So, I was impressed. Everything went super smooth. He said he needed a part, he went and got that part, came back and fixed it off. Normally, sometimes, if you need the other pieces, then you gotta wait another three days, and I was impressed with him being able to fix everything in the morning. There was even a hornet's nest on one of our trees up front that he grabbed. He's overall a nice guy.

We purchased our home in May and we've had Home Shield since. We had a washer issue and they came out several times. It was kind of a pain for all the calls for it and they couldn’t fix it, but it was replaced for about the call cost. So, I can’t complain about that. Then, I was looking to replace my backup sub pump and I figured I’d talk it through what American Home Shield had in terms of if it would be covered. I put in the ticket and GMD Plumbing came out once and their guy, Ryan, fixed it. He fixed the switch problem and the battery was covered, which was great. Then, it got bumped and then, broke again. Ryan came back out and fixed it again. He was fantastic and the service was great.

When the Kelly Brothers came out here, they told me I had seven plugs that had no power on it. It needed to be rewired from the plug all the way to the circuit breaker. So, in order to get to the wires in the wall, you have to go through the sheetrock and Kelly Brothers wrote on the work order that they couldn't get access to it. I've been dealing with this electrical issue for over seven months now and if they needed access into the wall, I had no problem grabbing my sledgehammer and busting these walls wide open because the electricity is more important than the wall. I could patch that back myself, but instead of doing all of that, when I asked them when he was done checking everything, he cut me off and said that he was going to forward this to AHS and AHS would contact me.
While I was currently with AHS, they never contacted me. I was so paranoid I blew their phone up the next day, which was when I saw on the work order he had no access. So, because he couldn't get in the wall, AHS wouldn't cover it, saying they don't cover stuff inside the wall, which was a trap. That threw me for a bad loop and I left them immediately after that. So, it wasn't trying to work with me or do anything of that nature, so I just cut my losses and I didn't even make a good 90 days. It was my first claim with Kelly Brothers. I paid the money and everything and it went left. So, I ended it right then and there. Once I got the actual packet from American Home Shield, the loophole is the stuff that they won't do is more than the stuff they will do. There's more fine print than the stuff that they agree to do. They should stand for something and not build their company off a lie.
We do apologize for the experience you have faced regarding your electrical service. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further with this issue.

I was not pleased at all with AHS' customer service on the first call, and because it was my first call, I don’t know if I misled the woman or not, but what was happening here was that I was running the dishwasher, and I had a load of clothes in the washer. And when the spin cycle started, water started coming up in my shower and my toilet. And she wanted to know how close the two things are to each other. I said they share a wall here and she said there was a leak. I said I was not sure if it was a leak. I couldn't tell her what was wrong and what was causing it. I just wanted it fixed.
She said the plumber could come out there and see what was wrong. I said “Fine, that’ll do. That’s okay with me.” She said, “But I don’t know if it’s a leak or a break.” I said I couldn't tell her. I’m not a plumber. I could see the water was coming up and I’ve got tiles on the floor, but thank goodness it was still clean water, and it was warm from the washing machine, or whoever’s doing hot water is coming up.
She said she was gonna put it down as a leak. I said, “Okay. How soon will he be here.” She said she didn't know yet and she gave his phone number. I called it, but no one answered. I left a message. The plumber called me back about a quarter after 4:00 or 4:30, and he explained to me that his contract with American Home Shield, if a call came in after 4 o’clock, he didn't have to take it until the next business day. The call came in evidently after 4 o’clock on Friday whenever she called him. And he couldn’t come out until Monday or Tuesday, which meant I had problems all weekend. And then he did not come out. I ended up calling Roto-Rooter and they came out and cleared the drain that was causing the problem. And he called me back and said, “I’m ready to come out now and put you on the schedule.” I said, "Never Mind. I’ve already got it fixed.”
AHS dropped the ball. And I don’t know how to explain things to someone on the phone who sounded just as lay as I did. We didn’t know. We couldn't see through the pipes. But the situation with the locksmith was perfect. He came out. He explained to me what he was gonna do, asked me how many keys I needed, changed the locks, and I don’t think he was here for more than 30 minutes. And he came early and it was done. He knew what he was doing and that was it.

The lady said it was a conflict because part of my contract says my name is Lawrence ** and then part of my contract says Lawrence ** III, and Lawrence ** III had my phone number, but Lawrence ** didn’t have a phone number. I told her that that was no reason to cancel a person’s contract when you have an emergency. But nevertheless, I did the claim on a Monday and it was cancelled and I called back on Wednesday, and the lady kept me on the line until she got ahold of somebody, and they came right out Wednesday afternoon.
The guy from Triple T explained everything to me, and told me what I can do for future reference. I’m on well water so he said I can buy a filter that can be attached to my water system to catch the sand and grit that were in the water heater. So he was very helpful and knowledgeable of the job. The contractor was very professional and he showed up when he was supposed to, stayed until the job was done, and talked us through a lot of the things that I was concerned about and was curious about. He described everything in detail and did a great job. It was a really bad rainy day and it was cold, and he stayed and completed it right before Christmas too. It was awesome.
I've had American Home Shield since 2016. It’s an automatic renewal every month, but I continue to stay with them mainly because pretty much every call that we’ve put out to them, we’ve had success except for the sewer system. They didn’t have any local contractors that were signed up with them. And so, we had an issue trying to get someone out for that right before Thanksgiving. So, they gave us the option because they couldn’t respond with anyone to call someone out on our behalf.
The company could improve their sewer contractors. We still haven’t resolved the bill on that first sewer issue in the Thanksgiving where we had to wait almost two weeks with sewer issues to be able to be allowed to call and get someone out here. I haven’t gotten paid back for that call out fee that they told me that I had to go ahead and do. I need to get in touch with them on that. Other than that, it has been a most positive experience with them, and I do wanna refer them to other people.

GE Appliance came out, and the issue is not going very well. The interactions have been okay, but there was a delay because of the holidays. I've been trying to get the dishwasher resolved since the first of December. I was completely understanding, but they called me on New Year's Eve saying that they will be here on January 2 to install. So, I took off work for the afternoon and no one ever came and no one ever called me. And so, I waited. The guy that called me said, “I’ll be there between 2:00 and 6:00.” So I waited and nobody showed up. I didn’t even get a cancel phone call.
So the next day, January 3, nobody called me and I was busy at work. Then I finally called a couple of days later myself and they rescheduled a day to come out. They then came with the new dishwasher and went to install it and said that my cut-off valve to my old dishwasher was broken. They couldn't get the water to cut off. I said, “Well, I’ll go down to the main water line down at my driveway, and I’ll cut the water off, Just please get my dishwasher installed.” He said he could not do that. He could not let me cut off my water and install the dishwasher for liability reasons. So I understood and he said that we will reschedule once I get a plumber out here to fix the valve.
I called American Home Shield and they declined for the valve. Ironically, the guy from KNS Plumbing just came today and it was a very good follow-up. He was super nice, too. He couldn’t get it fixed, and now he has got to order parts. Now I’m waiting for a call from KNS to say they’ll come to fix the valve with the part, which the guy said that he had put me as a priority. Then I can call the North-South Delivery company to put the dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen and have them to come install it. But I’m still at least probably a week away from getting everything resolved, and I lived without a dishwasher all through the holidays. I’m really frustrated. Now I've got to wait for them to come back -- they said they’ll try to get back by the end of the week.
I have got this new dishwasher siting in the kitchen against the wall, and an old dishwasher still installed. So, it has been a fiasco, and it has been a slow process. The GE people pissed me off because they should have come the day I took off work when they told me they would. I also asked AHS when I called to claim the valve if they can put the dishwasher in so I could do it all in one day because the one coming is a plumbing company, and because the dishwasher is already here. The customer service rep said that that is a separate claim, that it will still have to be two different people. It has been a frustrating ordeal. I've known about AHS for years because I am a realtor, and I've referred them for 14 years to clients. As with all warranty companies, I have heard good and bad things. I chose to use them myself and they have done a few good things for me, so I’m not upset. But, I’m frustrated about the whole dishwasher issue.
Hi Leslie,

The technician from Airmax came out and was very helpful. I got my unit, air handler and the condenser taken care of. They did a wonderful job but I had to do a few follow-up calls to American Home Shield when I submitted the claim. I was not too happy because you have to go through a lot of different customer care reps. Some of them were rude and not helpful. They gave me a lot of lips and such a hard time. I was so mad. But I asked to speak to a higher authority and he worked sincerely and made me happy. He apologized and I got AHS to get everything approved, and my matter was resolved
American Home Shield is excellent but they need to talk to their customer service reps and teach them about respect, manners and courtesy. I cancelled my contract after I have been with AHS for five years because the reps’ behavior on the phone was no good. What got me more upset was that I just came out from the hospital because I had pneumonia and they got me so frustrated. But I love AHS and in the future, I’m gonna take them back.
Emran,
I am sorry that we were not able to offer a resolution that you were pleased with while the contract was active. We hope this experience does not deter you from considering AHS in the future for your home warranty needs.

When I had a toilet that wouldn’t stop running water, 5 Star Home Services came and they were incredible. They changed out the toilet tank kit, but they left the handle with duct tape all over it and it still wouldn’t work. I had to call them back out to finish the job and replace the handle. Two months ago, I called AHS and they said that the systems were down and I had to call back another day, which was disappointing. Also, on several occasions, I called them and they said they'd set up a vendor. Then the vendor would call, but won’t show up for several days. Then they'd call and say that they couldn't get to my job and that they were gonna cancel the assignment. Then, the claim would go back to AHS and they'd call me to set up another vendor. Even though it may not be on the same day or within a couple of days, AHS always delivers. And hopefully, that vendor issue will get better.
Good Morning Sara,

Appliance Magic came out to service an appliance issue with our refrigerator dispenser and the things with the claim went very well. The guy came, did the inspection, and then he went and brought the tools and he fixed them. But when he changed the pipe of the water in the dispenser, the ice portion of the refrigerator started a cracking sound. That maybe because the refrigerator would have to send the water and send the ice, and then the sound will stop. But it didn’t stop. The technician was a very kind man. He told me that if there was an issue, I have to call him back because they will come and fix it for 30 days. So, I called him yesterday but he didn’t pick up. This morning I called him and he picked up the phone. He told me that he would stop by to see what the problem is and that should not be a big issue. Maybe he will fix it.
I called the company a week before for two things. In the agreement, my name spelling is wrong. The rep already put that request to the management that they should fix the spelling of my name in the contract. I have the contract with me and in my online account, but my name is spelled wrong. Maybe it was just typo, which is not a big thing, but they can fix it. Also, when we were buying the insurance, we talked to a gentleman and he told us that my policy would start effective 27th of November, and then the payment would start on February. But they charged my card already. The rep said AHS will take care of that because that was something consulted and that it will be fixed.
Overall, my experience was very outstanding and I’m very happy to be with American Home Shield. This is our first home which we bought since we moved to the US and this is the first claim that we are getting from American Home Shield. I would not find any better insurance company for the appliances. I also recommended it to a couple of my friends, that they should go with American Home Shield if they are buying houses in the future, especially for the new people who work in the US like us. Because we got the call and in 48 hours the contractor came and fixed the problem. It was something that we wanted and it happened.
Zia,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!
