When the oven would get hot, one corner of the oven door would open. Appliance Services Unlimited brought a new appliance out. I had the new one installed but I had a problem with the person that delivered it. They were supposed to install the range. And they pulled the range away from the wall. Our range is between a cabinet and a refrigerator. And because the plug of the range is so big, the people who originally owned the house put the plug inside the cabinet that's adjacent with the stove so that the stove would sit up against the wall flushed. It wouldn't be sticking four inches from the refrigerator and the cabinet. So, everything sits right together.
The person who came out said, “I can't do that.” And I said, "Well, the plug's gonna fit through the hole because it's already plugged in. It's an electric range already and there's a plug within there.” And he said, "Well, I can't do that. I can't install it." I said, "What do you mean you can't install it?" And he kept insisting he can't because the plug was in the cabinet. So, we had to open the cabinet door to get to the plug. When I asked what we could do, he said, "Well, you can make arrangements to have it redelivered another day and installed."
I asked why we couldn't do it then and he said he couldn't go in the cabinet. I said, "Well, I'll go in the cabinet and pull out the plug of the one that's in there and then I'll fit it through the other plug.” "No, I can't do that," he said. I said, "Can you at least bring the range in?" That was my only other option other than to have it redelivered which would not eliminate the problem. And he said, "And I got 17 deliveries to make, and I can tell you right now, if you ever redeliver, it's gonna be well into February because we're so busy." I said, "Well, then, bring the new range in and my husband can install it." All we had to do is plug it in. Also, our house is 1,500 square feet and our kitchen is tiny. I said, "We don't have any room to store the old one. What am I supposed to do with the old one? Can you take it?" And he said, "No, I can't take it because it's plugged in."
I said, "Well, I'll get down there and unplug it." And he said, "No, I can't let you do that." And I said, "This just does not make any sense what you're telling me." He said, "Well, you can call and have it picked up.” And I'm thinking to myself, "Yeah, right. Everything they told me would happen hasn't happened yet." So, I didn't believe a word he was saying to me at that point. So, he wouldn't take the old one.
Before he left, I asked for the cord and he opened up the bag and showed me. I said, "Can you at least attach the cord to the back of the oven or the range? So when my husband comes home, after working all day, he doesn't have to attach the cord to the range. He can just put it in the place and plug it in. He says, "No. Your husband can do that." I said, "Why can't you hook the cord up to the back of the range, with the prongs and stuff, to make sure it's hooked up?” He says, "Well, it's just three prongs.” He showed me the three prongs, and he pointed to the three lug nuts on the back of the stove. And he said, "And it takes a regular screwdriver so you won't have any problem." It did not take a regular screw driver, so he didn't know anything about hooking it up and that's why he didn't even try to hook that for us.
The thing is it was supposed to be installed. They were supposed to. And he pulled the old range out into the middle of the kitchen. So, obviously, he was going. That was probably the plan. I'm sure he wasn't gonna do it. I'm sure the guy with him was gonna do it. Anyway, he told me my husband can do it because he didn't wanna do anything for us. It really upset me and we had to end up getting rid of the stove ourselves. And that was not an easy feat for me and my husband who are not 30 and 40 years old who are these guys that are bringing this stuff in. Getting that loaded into the back of my husband's truck and getting rid of it was not an easy thing to do. It really ticks me off that somebody can't do their job and keep a job. And it frustrated me to no end.
We got the new the one all set up. And the oven works great. It bakes evenly. It bakes so much better, having a door that stays close. We're very happy with it. American Home Shield sent me an email that gave me several options, and then I just looked at each one and picked the one that I like. I grew up where GE is located and I'm very familiar with GE products. So, I was kinda happy it ended up being GE.
I'm not dissatisfied with American Home Shield's service. We also had a dishwasher that we had to have replaced. And the people that deliver that looked at our pipes under the sink and said they didn't deal with copper piping so they left the dishwasher here and we had to call and get someone else to come out and put in. So, it was an inconvenience because both times, I had to take time off of work, two different times for them to deliver it, then for the guy to come back, as far as the dishwasher, and then the range. I had to take off from work to come only for him to tell me they couldn't deliver it. That was an inconvenience. Other than that, the people at American Home Shield were great. And the initial technician that came out and looked at our appliances was good.

Pacific Plumbing Co called me before they were going to come out, so I was expecting them and they arrived 15 minutes early. The tech came in, introduced himself and shook my hand which made an impression. He saw the problem and in 30 minutes, he had it fixed. He cleaned up after himself and all went well. He was very polite and a very pleasant young man.
I love American Home Shield. I would not be without them. It's super easy to submit a claim to them, through online or by phone. I am pleased with everything they offer. I would read their newsletter and get good tips from that. I usually order my air conditioning filters from them when I need them because it's a good buy. Other than that, I'm pleased with what I have.

The first time we've used American Home Shield was for the furnace that would act like it was gonna turn on, but it never turned on. So, the gentleman came in. He was very courteous. I was quite impressed and very pleased with him. He wiped his feet off outside and inside. He cleaned up after himself. He was very cordial, neat and well-spoken. He didn’t try to use our bathroom too, like we've had problems with before. He didn’t smoke in our home as well, which has happened before. He did find that there was some kind of malfunction between the thermostat and the furnace, and there was something wrong in the furnace that he fixed. They do that magic thing with their tools. They go in and bang on this and bang on that, and they say, “It's all fixed now.”
He had all the parts that he needed and everybody was very prompt. They called, let us know that he was running a wee bit behind, and he called before he arrived here and told us approximately where he was and what time he would arrive. He fixed the issue within the first visit. Everything is working like a top now. It's so good to have heat again.

Everything went great with 3 Boys Appliance Repair. There was a light that was out that needed fixing. We thought there was some bad cables up in the attic and they went up to inspect it and made sure that everything was safe. The job was done quickly, the communication was great, and the tech was nice and friendly. I took the warranty provider for my mother’s house, and I kept it because it has been so easy to call one place and they take care of everything. Everything has been so easy for me. I am most satisfied with American Home Shield.

I like to call in my claims with AHS because I’m able to give more details. Personally, I don’t care to do that automated stuff. When I filed a claim for my sump pump, On Time Plumbing took less than 24 hours to come. They have been out here many times and customer service with them has always been good. When they got out here, the issue wasn’t my sump pump, but my sewage pipe.

My issue was in the home. The way they installed the toilet was up against the wall. And the ball that goes up and down for the tank to fill up was not going up. It was old and I would have to stick my fingers in there for the ball to go up and then down. And it was okay for a little while and then I said, "Okay. This is getting old." I called the American Home Shield number, they answered and took my information, and they reacted to it right away. The plumbing company called me the same day and set it up for the next day. Tom from Pruitt's Plumbing came out right away. He was great and he knew exactly what to do. He went in there and the whole tank had to be unscrewed to get to the inside of the tank. He did a wonderful job. It didn't even take long. He was well-experienced, so I was very pleased. It was a wonderful experience.

I like to call in to AHS whenever I have a claim and so far, the reps I talked to were very good. Recently, they sent out Liberty Plumbing for a heating issue. The tech came right away, especially because it was a heating issue, and was extremely great. He got everything back up and running in around 30 minutes. Other than that, I had a problem with my microwave for which I had somebody come out. They fixed everything but that company was not the best to deal with. I did not like the interaction at all and it was very aggressive. Then, when my microwave was not working again, I called and AHS was giving me the same company that I had before. But I told them that I didn’t want to deal with that company and requested for another one. So, they suggested another company and that person came out today.

I’ve had issues where American Home Shield wasn't able to help me. I had a toilet issue not that long ago and it was an emergency over the weekend, and the contractor company could not help. So, things don’t always work out the way you want, but overall, it has been positive. Budget came out last week for a PRV leak. I did an automated call where I pressed a button, and it was pretty quick. Budget was amazing. They fixed a couple things before and they’re easy to schedule with. They come in, put booties on their feet and do the job. They know what they're doing and they're in and out. They're awesome.
I told my daughter who recently bought a house that they've got to get a warranty and make sure before they get it that they run it through me so I could tell them who I’ve used. I’ve used another company, and not all companies are the same. Other companies will use very substandard contractors that are terrible and don’t care. They just want to be in and out. They don’t do anything to make sure that you’re taken care of as a customer.
Good Morning Heather,

At times, I have not been happy with people that AHS had sent. There have been times that I would not allow the same contractor back in my home. It was that bad. But it seems that AHS has made some improvements. The last couple of times that I’ve had someone that they sent, I had no problems. For my most recent claim, PlumbRight did great. The young man was very knowledgeable and polite. I told him that I had already paid the $75 to AHS and I just signed the paper. He did the work and was out. And I appreciate it very much. I would welcome PlumbRight in my home any time that there’s an issue.

I've got AHS on two properties I own and chose them for their reliability and reputation. I was burned on a homeowner's warranty that cost $900 for absolutely nothing so I wanted to make sure I went with a reputable company and AHS checked out good. However, I had serious problems last year with an air conditioner. It took them almost a month to get it finally resolved so I was living in 100-degree weather. They tried to cheap out on parts and didn't send the right condenser for my air conditioner. When it was initially fixed, it worked for under 24 hours before it went out again. Then we had to wait almost two weeks to get the condenser that matches the unit sent out and installed. For my last claim, I needed a new element and a new thermostat in my water heater, and it was handled just fine.

Appliance 911 did my dishwasher that wasn’t filling with water. The guy who came out was very good and he diagnosed the problem immediately. It took about a week to get it all taken care of, but he had to order a part. He couldn’t turn off the water, so we had to get someone else to come out and replace the water valve. When all was said and done, I was very happy with Appliance 911. I did it online when I submitted the claim and the website was easy to use. My only complaint is checking on it. I have to check on it as there isn't a whole lot of information on what’s going on to keep me in the loop.
Another complaint I have is with the HVAC people. They are non-responsive and take forever to get the unit fixed. I had my air conditioner out for two weeks in Texas with a 100-degree weather. Then, I had my heater out in our coldest streak for two weeks in 20-degree weather. We had a couple of situations where the hold up was with ordering the part and other times were getting people out here. I understand it’s the middle of the summer or the middle of the winter and they have their calls. But we pay for the service, so I just assumed that we would be getting it quicker. I’ve even gotten 3 different HVAC people each time. I was on the fence about renewing with them until I had 2 appliance contractors come out and fixed my dryer and dishwasher. They did great and they convinced me to do it again. My original American Home Shield contract was provided by my realtor and I just stuck with it. So, I just renewed it for my third year.

The capacitor on the fan of my heating unit burned out. American Home Shield sent out a contractor and everything went fine. The contractor solved the issue and had the part with him in the truck. He replaced the capacitor. He was very professional and he knew what he was doing. I'm fine with AHS too. I sent them one other request on this warranty and they responded to that one as well. I got AHS with the owner when I bought the house. They provided that policy. I'd like to continue it since it's a 30-year-old home. You never know what's gonna go wrong with it.

Our recent claim with AHS regarding our AC was okay. We’ve still got problems with the AC though. The AC is very old, and so, we had to replace the Freon, so it cost us $420. It’s still not 100%, but we’ll just wait until we just have to replace them. Integrity Air Conditioning Service came out and they’ve been good and very helpful. We’ve had them out every time. We’ve had them out 10 times since we’ve been here a year and a half. We get a lot of different information depending on who comes out though. It’s just, I get one person and they say one thing, and I get another person, they say something else. So, probably what we’re gonna end up doing is just get three companies to come out and give estimates, because it doesn’t seem that anybody really understands how this thing is connected.
We’ve got two different units and they go up there and I don’t think they really come back with the right information out of the attic to see what’s going on where. Because the distribution of the air is not good and it never has been, and it’s not getting any better. We paid for them to put in another return air, and it still doesn’t change anything. But they fixed the problem we last had and we’re good for the moment. But it’s not their fault or AHS's fault. It’s just what we got.
American Home Shield is fine. They’ve done a great job. It’s just some of the people that come out, we just not always get correct information. We had to have a second group of plumbers come out to fix it. The first one didn’t. And I waited too long. I waited more than six months to have the second one come out, so I had to pay again. But that’s all right. He got it done, so I’m pleased. We continued to renew this year with AHS because of the air conditioning and not knowing what its status was. Because we’ve already had the dishwasher replaced, the oven replaced, and the toilets worked on. It’s an older home, so that’s why we renewed, just to make sure we don’t have anything else pop up and bite us.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Barbara. Because your A/C claim is unresolved, I will contact you in an effort to resolve your claim. My name is Stacy and I have sent you an email for follow up.

I've been with them for over 20 years and never had a problem submitting claims, which has been a very easy process. I’ve had it for so long that I’m starting to be a regular with certain people. AHS doesn't do random and I’ve been getting the steady same people over the years. When the pilot light went out in my water heater, the lighting coil had to be replaced. The contractor was in and out, no problem. My refrigerator also had to be worked on but the contractor didn’t have the part. They had to reorder it and would come back on Monday. AHS has been there whenever I need them. I’m in a wheelchair and if my heating or air is out, I call and say that I need to have it because I’m on oxygen or electricity. They’re on the spot and take into consideration that I have special needs and have stuff that I need to have.

We had two claims back-to-back. We had a problem with the oven and then the refrigerator stopped cooling about a week ago. During Thanksgiving, the oven's door never unlocked and we couldn’t get it open. We let American Home Shield know online that something had happened, and within 48 hours, the contractor's wife called me and said to pick a time. My wife is a school teacher, and I work out of town on typical business hours. It was tricky on us to be home but she said, “No.” And went, “We’ll come out at 8 o’clock at night if that’s what you need.” I was shocked that the contractor was available in the evening. They were great.
So, the contractor came out, took the oven all apart, and fixed it, and it works fine. He also gave us some tips on how to not let that happen again. He’s not a big fan of that self-clean and he said it works but it’s really hard on the oven when we do that. He explained everything to us so that we wouldn’t find ourselves in that spot again. It was perfect. And then, for the fridge, he came out and he could fix it but it’s gonna be incredibly expensive. He said, “This is gonna cost more in parts than a new refrigerator is gonna pay.” So, when he left, he was gonna put together the exact amount and give it to American Home Shield to see what they wanted to do at that point. We haven’t heard anything from that since then but that’s only been a couple of days and we had the holidays.
With American Home Shield, we had an air conditioning unit that went three years ago in the summer and they could not get it fixed. The next year, they could not get it fixed. The third summer without air conditioning, my wife actually tried to get ahold of the president of American Home Shield and got his secretary or something. She was so mad that this was going on a third summer and they could not figure out how to get this fixed. The contractors would come over, and then they would leave, and then they wouldn’t come back. And it had something to do with billing American Home Shield. And finally, whoever my wife was dealing with, they got a contractor to come out here.
He told me, "If this gets messed up, pay-wise there’s gonna be a problem." I told him, “If it does, I will pay you out of my own pocket.” He was here for two days and fixed it. We never heard another thing about it. So, we had gotten really disillusioned. No matter who you called, they put you on hold. And then you’d ask for a supervisor, and it would say that they would call me back and they would never call back. We were actually looking for a different company to do the insurance with just because we were so frustrated with them. Now, having said that, everything’s fine. And the last two claims, the one on Thanksgiving, and the one a week ago, they’ve been fine so far.

On a claim we had before, American Home Shield sent us S.A.P and they really did us wrong then. When that contractor came out, he said the flange to my toilet was broken and tried to charge me another $575. I told him that nothing was broken and that the flange was just sitting up too high and that it looks like it's loose. The tech from S.A.P. then said that we gotta break down the tile, cut it, take the flange out and reset it. So, we asked Home Shield for a second opinion.
They sent us All Points Plumbing LLC and the tech from there rocked. He came in and asked me to come to the toilet area. He asked who turned on the water and I said I knew I hadn't. The other guy from S.A.P must have left the water on there. He pulled out the flange and said that it was not put in right. The flange needed screws. He got everything fixed and was in and out in 15 minutes. The toilet and the flange have been perfect since then. Having AHS' warranty is very helpful and valuable.

Anders came out and it was smooth as can be. We've used the tech before and he's always great. The issue was with the furnace, and it needed a new control board. The tech resolved it in no more than an hour. However, some of the contractors are not certified to do certain equipment. If I want a higher-end HVAC unit, the contractors that I have to choose from are not authorized to install those. They can do it, but there will be no warranty on it from the manufacturer because American Home Shield doesn't use York-approved or Carrier-approved. We've been really lucky with Anders, but they wouldn't be allowed to put in certain units. That is the only downside.

The gentleman came over, and he inspected our heat pump. We had had preventative maintenance done on it two months before, but we weren't getting any heat. He found that there was a loose wire that he just happened to notice, and once he connected that, everything started working perfectly. He even found that they overcharged the Freon, so he released some of it to prevent any problems. He was very thorough in checking to make sure that everything was covered and working properly. So we're very, very happy with Sure Temp and with American Home Shield for having them.
We've had American Home Shield for about 15 years and they've always been good to us. They've replaced appliances when necessary, and they've always came out quickly and made sure that things were correct. If there was any problems that something would happen that wasn't fixed totally, they would make sure it was done right. Again, they would send out somebody different and make sure that it was corrected. So we've always been happy. I've heard people complain about them, but I've never experienced any bad customer service. I've never experienced any bad contractors or any of their providers.

American Home Shield has a great idea and I just recommended them to somebody this week. So far, when I’ve had to have something fixed, it’s a little over than what I pay for the year. It could’ve been a lot worse and it could’ve been better. I’m satisfied with my plan and then the 75 when something happens. When I called for a plumbing issue though, the contractor couldn’t fix two faucets. As reported, the shower heads were sort of epoxied on to the stem and he said that since the showers were working, they weren’t broken. He couldn’t fix them but he definitely fixed my diverter in my shower which is where the leak was. He also cleared my line of air, and he’s very professional.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Linda. We are happy you are apart of the family. Have an amazing weekend.

I live by myself and can’t fit big windows all the time, so I have to work around my days off. When I filed a claim for my refrigerator, the contractor was able to come out right away, but the problem was with my work schedule. I had to cancel the claim and redo it. The technician was really nice. The control panel and the ice maker wasn’t working. He had to check what was wrong, get approval from AHS and then go forward with ordering parts. He had to come back another day, which I had to set off in advance because of my work schedule.
I also had a bad experience with AHS when I had an issue with my water heater, which had been leaking for a long time. The company came out and took pictures. Everything was quick. Then Kwik Serv said that they had my new water heater and that they'd set up an appointment to get it installed. I wanted to know what water heater AHS gave me. I asked for its model number and found a discrepancy I had an issue with. They were gonna give me a 4500-watt system when my original was a 50-gallon, 5500-watt water heater. That becomes an efficiency issue. The one that was in there was a high-efficiency, even though it was older. If I was given a 4500-watt, I'm going to use more energy to keep the water at the right temperature.
I was on hold an hour while the rep was going back, looking at things and trying to talk to the manager. Then, it just came back with them rereading the contract to me. I’ve read the contract and know the verbiage on there. The way AHS operates is if there is an issue with something, then they can give me whatever. Theoretically, the way it’s worded, they can give me a 30-gallon water heater and that would be fine. My issue was that it was not a direct replacement.
I called Rheem, gave them the old heater's number and asked what its direct replacement was. They gave it to me and it was not the one that AHS gave. It was said that they would make a reasonable effort to replace the item with a similar one, but they're not set to that. There are circumstances that will allow that. However, they are putting in a smaller, underrated water heater than what I wanted. I had to spend about $600 out of my pocket to get one that had the wattage I wanted.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

Everything went great with Working Class Heating & Air. I actually request them now when I call. They're always very professional and on time. They've gone above and beyond. I've had them out a couple of times for the same thing, my HVAC system where the AC part was working but heat side wasn’t. It doesn't turn on at all. Now, it does 'cause they fixed it. I've never had a problem with American Home Shield either. I've only had a problem with another company that they sent out, and they used to always try to send them. But once I talked to them and explained to them the problem, then they've never sent them again. They've corrected it immediately.

We had the pipe come in from the wall by the toilet, where the little round thing that connects and goes up into the toilet was leaking. I submitted that claim online and BC Plumbing came out. I've been having this warranty service on different houses for the last 15, 20 years. So I know that they do this as quickly as possible. I didn't have any expectations because of the holiday, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day were coming up. So I was very pleasantly surprised whenever the technician called and said that they could come out New Year's Eve. I was flabbergasted. My interaction with them was great. They were always happy-go-lucky. It's great now. No more leak.
I had American Home Shield before and it's just something I know. Every time we've ever bought a house or sold a house, I've always used American Home Shield because when you tell a potential buyer that you're gonna get a warranty from American Home Shield on the house, it's like a selling point. It's almost like giving them an extra bedroom.

I've had a lot of people go to AHS because we've recommended them. To submit claims, I hate automation. So, sometimes, I'll just go through AHS.com. It's easier and it's good. We've only had problem with one contractor and it was called Jake's. We had a broken pipe under our crawlspace for the kitchen. The guy from Jake's Plumbing came out and he didn't even have a pipe to replace it. We waited two weeks. There were seven people that live in my house and we were washing dishes in our tub. I realized that was not AHS's fault, but I called them and complained about them. They didn't send anybody else out and that was the only time we've ever had a problem with them. They had picked this one plumber over who they used before. Their customer service reps were right back with us and back on top of it. I'm hoping they don't use them again. But Appliance Network was perfect. They were very professional and they were right on the issue.

When the microwave had broken, I called AHS and the technician from Sears was great. He had to order parts and when he got the parts, it turned out there was something else that was totally wrong with it. But he couldn’t figure that out till he got the other parts. So, they had to order a replacement and then have the replacement installed. That ended up taking about 10 days.

When you buy insurance, the company you’re buying it from is betting they’re gonna make money off of it. Now, you’re gambling that maybe not. I’ve had American Home Shield out quite a bit on the heating and air conditioner request on the unit and when we were having problems with the thermostat, I had someone come out and replace it. When he left, the thermostat he set up did not work right. I decided to have him sent back out and he was no longer working for American Home Shield.
I had to have someone else come out and when he came out, he got it where the air conditioning was coming on when it was supposed to but then the boiler never stopped. The person AHS sent out created a little bit of a glitch in the way the thermostat worked. I called it in then USA Air came out, stayed about 20 minutes and did a decent job. The owner happened to come out by chance and he’s a good guy. He knew what he was doing. All in all, AHS was good.
Great Darrell. We appreciate you sharing your warranty experience. Have an amazing week.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for many years and I have it on three properties. Last year, there was power going off intermittently within the house and it ended up being within the breaker box. All that the contractor did was to assess it. It's a rental and my tenant was there, and the contractor saw that the breaker box was out of date, and they were not allowed to even touch it to try to work on it because the brand had some new law and they couldn't work on it. So, they instructed my tenant that if the power goes off, she could shut the main breaker off and back on to get that error to go away. I got irritated that the contractor never called me. I waited to find out what was going on, and they never reached out to me. I tried calling them and wasn't able to get them. So, I called American Home Shield.
American Home Shield got in touch with the contractor and passed on the information to me. There was a delay, and it was cold and their air conditioner wasn't coming on. I was so aggravated with that and we ended up hiring our own contractor to fix it. American Home Shield people were saying that according to clause, because of that out of date equipment, they weren't able to do anything with it so, I was a little disappointed. Then, the company never even called because apparently, they told American Home Shield and gave them a quote of $3,000 to repair it to put a whole new breaker box in. If I hadn't followed through, I never would have even gotten a quote from them, and it cost me half that much to get it done on my own.

Our refrigerator was not staying cold. My husband does our claim online with American Home Shield. For this particular one, AHS sent out Service One and they did a good job. And when we had an issue with our furnace, AHS sent out A-1 Quality Care. My husband said that the tech who came had the part needed for the repair and he fixed the problem in one visit. But sometimes, it’s strange. My husband usually describes in pretty good detail what the problem is but the contractor never brings the part to fix the problem. We have standard appliances and you’d think that on some of the things, they’d have the parts in the truck.

Our recent claim with AHS went really well. It was kind of unfortunate. I usually take care of everything here and it was a matter of resetting one of the sensors in the furnace. The contractor just pushed his finger down on it and it was done. He was here for a minute and he was gone. It was something that I overlooked in my inspection. It was too bad that I had to make a call for it. But submitting the claim was very easy and the interaction with the rep was very good.

My icemaker was not making ice for my refrigerator. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and then I got a call shortly thereafter from Surfside Appliance. The tech that was sent out was excellent. I wish they'll have them to come out on everything. He was absolutely excellent. He responded right away. The part that he needed was not in stock, but he ordered it. He kept me advised on what was going on. He even anticipated when he thought the part would come in, and he called to schedule an appointment before the part even arrived, which I really appreciated. He was very, very nice. Everything is working fine.
I also had an issue with my air conditioner this summer. It was something that we were able to resolve, but before we knew what was going on, I called the company and it took two business-day before they called. I absolutely hated that company. And when I called their rep, she was very rude. It turned out something was clogged and we were able to unclogged it ourselves and called off the appointment. When I first called for the appointment, they had already charged my $75 deductible. So, I called to cancel the appointment. The gentleman was able to understand everything I said, and it took a few days for the deductible to be put back into my account, but that did work out. It's just that the majority of the time, that was not the case.
When I first got American Home Shield, I was very pleased with their customer service. I very rarely have to make any calls or any claims, but it seems that the past year or two when I've called, most of the time, there is a language barrier. I don't know if they outsourced their customer service calls to someone because all they say is, “Welcome to our home warranty company.” It doesn’t even say American Home Shield when you call. When you call, there's a recording. And even if you talk to someone, when they hang up, they just say, “Thank you for calling your home warranty company.” It was not American Home Shield, and that was very disappointing because one of the things that I've always liked is the fact that I've been able to talk someone who could clearly speak English and who clearly understood everything I was saying.
Every other time I've submitted any calls or claims with American Home Shield, there have been times when I get a call within an hour or two from a contractor, and that’s how this particular guy was with the refrigerator. He called right away and it was after his hours. He said, “I know it's after-hours, call me in the morning so we can set something up.” But that particular time, I hadn’t heard from anyone, then I started calling that contractor, leaving messages, and when I called back to say, “How long does it take?” And this guy could not understand what I was asking.
So, that’s my biggest complaint right now. That’s something American Home Shield has gone to. I work for an insurance company so I know that that exist a lot, but if I know there's somebody where I don’t have to deal with that issue, I'm almost tempted that I would rather have that personalized service where I know I'm gonna be understood as opposed to dealing with that. I'm already gonna be frustrated with whatever appliance is broken. So, if I talk to somebody who could not understand me, that’s frustrating.

The last service request we had was for the clothes washer, and they determined that it couldn't be repaired, and so American Home Shield sent a couple of replacements we could’ve chosen. But my wife didn't like either one of them, so they said we could choose to purchase something that we liked more, which we did. It was $433 if we purchased another one and then we furnished them with proof of that purchase. Then they sent us the $433. I recommend American Home Shield all the time. I advise people that live in old houses like we do, or even if you buy a new one, appliances these days aren’t that great. I’m a big believer in insurance.

I am currently still waiting on my washer to be fixed or replaced. I have to make multiple calls to the vendors and AHS to find out about the status. I have had 2 vendors come and take a look and still waiting for almost 3weeks to get an answer for either repairing or replacing my washer. I have two small kids and going to the laundry mat is very inconvenience to me and my family. I will continue to call daily to get status. I am canceling my contract and moving on after this is resolved. For me, this is the worst and I am tired of dealing with AHS.

I would not agree that the issue was handled outside of Consumer Affairs. From my perspective, the only time I have received professional service has been with Consumer Affairs involved. Since CA involvement, my service has been completed and I have received part of the compensatory fees promised. The only item not received to date is the promised credit of my service call fee. Due to CA, I would increase my rating to a 3.

I placed a service request on 12/5/19 for my HVAC. Over 4 weeks later, throughout December and into January it is still not fixed and I have lived over a month without heat. AHS sent 2 different companies who recommended replacement. To avoid this necessary fix, they sent in a 3rd company with no regard for how long the repair was taking. Over this month period I have called the customer service line multiple times. They are quick to apologize but have never helped in any way. They are a call center in the Philippines with no authority or care to help. I have been promised callbacks 4 times and never received 1. They have offered credits...not one has been received. Meanwhile, the 3rd company they sent can miraculously fix rather than replace, but only if I spend $800 to replace the refrigerant that I replaced 70 days ago.

I really give the Home Shield thumbs up. They were behind me and took care of the problem I had. I got them for the appliances, and if anything goes wrong, I can call them. I appreciate all the support that they've been taking care of my business. But I had a devastating experience with Pennington, where they didn't come to repair the water heater but to just find fault, criticize and drag me here and there. They had bad behavior and I didn't understand anything they were talking about. It seems that they were not really trying to help. I just stopped talking to them and I reported to Home Shield that they're not trustworthy. I don't want those people to come to my house.
Home Shield then connected me with Honest Plumbing, and they came in. They were very professional and they only talked about my problem. I was asked to cover some payments for modification and licenses, which made sense so I had no problem taking care of that. They fixed the water heater and my tenant told me that it's working. I'm really happy about the outcome and that Home Shield was very honest. I definitely recommend them to friends.

The initial issue for the oven started off with the door hinges. They did not hold, and Amtec came out. They didn't do it the right way, but it didn't matter. The next that went out on it was the control module on the front that turns the oven on and off. They replaced it and it was fine for a little while, then it went out again and they replaced it again. Then, the temperature of the oven was not right. They came back and they replaced something, and they said it was fixed. The tech showed me on his little module that when he turned the oven on, it went up to that temperature. Not even a day or two later, I was baking and when I put the temperature on to what I wanted, it was not setting the right temperature again. I called them back, they came out and said the module needs to be replaced. They replaced a lot on this oven but for some reason, this last time did not fix it. The tech said he had to get something else. And they never fixed the door hinges on it.
Overall though, American Home Shield has been great. Anytime we've had a problem, they're out there. I'm very satisfied with them. We've had three items that were broken in our house that they replaced them. They fixed at first, but they replaced them, no questions asked, and gave us the price value. Temperature Pros was great. They fixed our heater right away. We were without heat for two and a half days. I submitted my claim online to American Home Shield on a Sunday. They called me on Monday and told me they would send somebody out, and of course they always give these companies 24 hours to respond, so our heat had been off since Saturday night and we finally got heat on Tuesday afternoon. It took a little bit for the house to warm up again, but everything’s fine.
We have used American Home Shield's service for a few years now. We had them in our other house in California before we moved up here to Oregon. For this particular issue, their website was fine. I had another issue that I submitted a claim for the same day that did not go as well. They have disappointed me severely a couple of times, but then there are other times where they’ve come through.
The other service request that I made on the same day as the claim for the heater, our dryer was not drying the clothes. So I got online same day as the request for service on the heater, and I requested service on the ductwork for the dryer because it appeared to be clogged. And ductwork is covered under the warranty that we have. I submitted this service request on a Sunday and I got online Monday morning to chat with somebody online because there’s really no place where you request service. There’s no place to explain exactly what’s happening. When I got online chat, the person on the other end that said his name was Akila said that the issue was that the dryer was not drying clothes because it seemed like the ductwork was clogged. The dryer had a code on it that said that the ductwork is clogged. The air is not getting through.
What I was trying to do was make sure that they knew what was happening so that they could send us the right people or company to correct the situation. I said, “I requested service for ductwork because it seems like the ductwork is clogged.” And this person said, “Oh, no. That’s the dryer.” So, they switched my request for service from ductwork to dryer. And the person who came out to service my dryer turned it on, said, “Oh, it’s getting heated. It’s not your dryer,” and left.
The issue was the ductwork. The duct was clogged. It was very frustrating. Immediately after he left, I called American Home Shield and got on the phone with somebody, and we went round and round about “I tried to get in front of this. I tried to contact you, let you know what was happening so that you can send the right type of technician to my home, not waste any more time, but that didn’t happen." That person switched my call from ductwork to dryer. It wasn’t the dryer, it was the ductwork. And I got charged my service fee for no service, and I said I would like to have somebody come out and clean out the duct and not have to pay another service fee. He said, “No, that’s not gonna happen. Your ductwork isn’t covered, it’s a vent.” Now the vent is underneath the dryer, but underneath the house, it’s a duct.
So, after all this time on the phone with him, he put me on hold to call the company that came out and then got back and said, “No, there’s nothing we can do to help you.” I was really frustrated, and I said I would like to speak to a supervisor. And he told me, “Well, they’re otherwise engaged on the phone as well.” I said, “So, you’re not gonna help me, you’re not gonna refund my service fee and you’re not gonna allow me to speak to anybody else, just so I’m clear.”

The drain line that the washing machine goes into was clogged and it was overflowing. My wife went online to American Home Shield's site and put the claim in and what it was. She then paid the 80 bucks. She did this at night and the contractor from Walson Mechanical was sent out the next day. So, he was out in less than 12 hours. He did a good job and he stayed around to make sure that it was complete. He thought what he did, he said that he thought he got it, and he said, “But let’s run a cycle and make sure it all empties out like it’s supposed to.” Everything was fine. American Home Shield has been spot on. We’ve had to call them for stuff and they’ve done a good job getting people out in a timely manner.

Submitting claims online was so easy. I did it for the toilet and the faucet claims. The water heater claim, I called it in because I wanted to use Pamela Plumbing again because I’ve heard horror stories about some of the contractors. Pamela was awesome and I wanted to keep that experience. When I called that work order for the water heater, they were able to keep it with Pamela which was amazing because they were able to come back out the next day, so I didn’t have to wait long.
It’s been two weeks since the repair and it’s amazing. The kids don’t use up the water, so that was the biggest thing. I thought we’d have to get a whole new water heater. And the gentleman that came out said it was a great water heater. All we had to do was just replace these two items. He took the time to break it down for what the problem was, so I really appreciated that.

Although my heater would click on, it wasn't generating any heat. I went online to submit it and I thought the website was great. It was very easy to do. They told me when I should expect a phone call, and within 24 hours, I got a phone call, and then they were out at my house. The contractor from Mel's Preventative Maintenance was very knowledgeable and he explained everything that was going on and told me about preventative maintenance that I can do moving forward. It's been great now since the repair. American Home Shield was part of the agreement when we bought our first home and which I was most familiar with.

I'm happy with AHS. Our recent claim with them was for a washing machine that unfortunately is no longer good. They're gonna have somebody come out, put in the new one and take out the old one, and it's gonna cost me nothing. That was our second claim to AHS. The first one was for the water heater. There was a lot of external stuff, like the pipes, and there was a little tank on top of it. All of that stuff has to be replaced if you have a water heater that's several years old. But they didn't cover it and I was not really happy with that. I got a new water heater, so it turned out well, but it did cost me some money. If you've got stuff that needs to be replaced as part of the replacement of the thing that died, AHS should cover it.

My daughters had American Home Shield for almost 10 years, which was why I got it. I’ve been with them for two years and I got it for my new house in Texas too. I hated All Seasons Heating and Air, who were the people that American Home Shield sent me before. They ruined my floor. They cracked my counter top and didn't fix the problem. It was awful and I would recommend that you not use them ever. But I liked Carlson Plumbing. My water heater wouldn't stay lit and it was dusty. It was awful to get up at 4:00 in the morning to go to work and have an ice-cold shower because the pilot light went out in the middle of the night. They cleaned it out and it has been performing perfectly. They were very friendly, on time and punctual. They explained things to me, what they were doing and the big thing was they fixed it.

There was a problem with the faucet in the kitchen leaking as well as around the base of the toilet. It was for the rental property but I submitted the claim and two companies ended up going. One said they had an opening. It was a Friday and they were gonna be closed that weekend. It was the weekend before Christmas so they were trying to get in that same day and I was at work. I contacted the tenant and I wasn't able to get in contact with him. But the plumber said they were in the area and they went by. Somebody was there and let them in. The plumber himself sent me a text because I explained that I'm in a classroom and I wasn't able to talk. They said that it was completed.
I got a call the next day, which was a Saturday, from another company saying that it was something that the first company couldn't do. The last one went out on a Saturday, and with the holiday and everything, I didn't even get a chance to follow up with it or heard anymore, so I was assuming that it was done. I started June of this year with American Home Shield. I had it in my primary residences but I chose it because I saw the commercial. I was pleased with the service with my primary residence so I went ahead and got it for the rental because it's always a hard time trying to find viable contractors. I've been pleased, which was why I haven't had any problems. The gentleman on that Friday went ahead and got it taken care of and I was very pleased. He went above and beyond because I wasn't able to get in contact with anyone. American Home Shield is a good service. They're reliable and I would recommend them.

On one property I own, I went to another company because of that issue. Recently, the company that responded to my claim was Donaway Service and they’re a good company, but they thought the repairs might be so substantial that they would rather send Sears out because they thought the repair might approach the cost of a new machine. I filed a claim to American Home Shield for our AC. They sent Legum's Heating & Cooling out and they were fantastic. However, the company that was prior sent to my home was one of the most awful experience that I have ever personally experienced. It's called Patriot's. There was a father and a son that came out to the home. The son went to the unit and diagnosed the problem. Because there were three bad parts, he would have to order the parts, indicated that it would be a week wait. I said, "No problem. I can deal with a week, remembering at that particular time we were in the 30's. I gave him a week and a half, and I started to call directly to his company. Unfortunately, after leaving so many voice mails to have a return call, I never received one. Not at my office, not at my home, not on my cellphone.
So I began to call American Home Shield in regards to the situation. I repeatedly gave the scenario of the story to so many different people, at the same time remembering I'm in the cold for days. I indicated to each person that I am asthmatic. I asked to speak with a supervisor but I was refused to speak with one. I was told each time that they will forward my issue to their compliance department. At one point, I was going to work to only be able to get the heat, and then I'd be coming home with thermostat indicated 58 each time. I took pictures of it to show the proof that it was 58 in my home. The lowest it had gotten was 49. I then was told, "A supervisor will call you within 24 hours." But I never received a call.
I then had to go to my primary physician, where I have pictures, me having to have a treatment because of my asthma and the weather of change. Going from my office, where it may seem decently warm, having to come home to my home, where the climate dropped drastically. And for asthmatic people, weather-related is a serious issue. I then contacted American Home Shield, of which I paid nearly $900 for the benefit of being able to have a decent company respond to my home. I asked American Home Shield on numerous occasions, "Please call the vendor or the contractor, as you all may call them." They will call the contractor while I was on the phone. The contractor would not answer, they would have to leave a voice message.
After numerous calls, I asked them why I was having a problem speaking to a supervisor. Everyone was saying the same thing, "Let me look into your notes, let me see what's going on." But at the same time, I'm the one that's in 45, 48 degrees in the home. Everybody else gets to go home to a warm home. This went on for six weeks, when it was supposed to be a week long wait. I was in the cold for six weeks. Only then did someone agree that it was time to call another company.
The second company that came out was disgustedly moved by the situation. And so, the part that had to be ordered from the first company, they were able to get right away. My attorney advised me to call ConsumerAffairs, to put in a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, because this was not satisfactory. The letter that came to my email said, "We will reach out to you once your provider or contractor has come to the home." It was null and void. No one ever reached out to me from American Home Shield.
Vanessa,
I apologize that your experience with us was not satisfactory. Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

When it was convenient, Ramey Appliance Repair showed up. It was supposed to take five to seven business days, and we managed to spend two major holidays, but they were getting their stuff from Home Depot, and I buy things from Home Depot. It took us until 7th of January to even get our dishwasher and the call went in on the 12th of December. So, it took us almost a month to get a dishwasher. I kept posting them when it’d come. “Well, we don’t know what time.” And so, it got delivered to the house and it had to sit in the house for two days for them to show up. They did go out of their way to make sure it was installed before the company came out last night. Another thing is they had no idea how to dispose the dishwasher. I ended up taking the dishwasher out myself and giving it to the company who delivered the dishwasher, and that’s not kind of how this is supposed to work.
We've been on American Home Shield for this house since we've been married, which will be seven years. And it's been on Castle Pines, our rental, for 14 years. What we like about them is they do get things done. We love their lemon policy because they have done really good on that. The third strike that you're out, they replace it. Their prices are going up though. It used to be $40 a call. Now, it’s up to 75.
We don’t like that they don’t make you feel important. It’s just another person in the process to get things done. We've had a hot water heater go out and we went without a hot water heater for over Christmas holidays, last year. So, we pulled out our camp shower with the heater on and then we moved it from bathroom to bathroom and took showers. They don’t put it as really urgent. we're in business. And we know they have a lot of people they have to service. Some of the people they have brought us, we had one guy out on the first round of the dishwasher said it was user-abuse, and we threw him out of the house. We told American Shield that they need to go back and try this again. They brought out Sears and says, “Oh, yeah, this is about the dishwasher.”
They don’t seem to pick up high-end contractors. They’re picking up the smaller, and I’m not saying they’re not good quality, the mom-and-pops because the gentleman that helped us with the hot water heater, we’ve now used him to do other things because we like him so well. But I don’t know that I would use Ramey again. The first one they sent on this call was really good. It was a young kid, on the first part of the call. And it surprised me they used somebody different to do the installation from the person that went in to do the beginning service call.
The service calls depend when it happen. If it happens at 11 o’clock at night, we doing it on the internet. During the day, we do it on the phone because you don’t know what country you’re talking to when you do it on the off-hours. But the internet is really the most responsive. It says, “We will get somebody to you in 24 hours.” When you’re without a hot water heater, that isn’t really good. And that one, we did on the phone the first time, and they were dinking around, so we just filed it on the internet, and I got better service. They don’t seem to care about emergencies. Holiday season with no hot water heater is not a cool thing.
We liked that both of the service people on the dishwasher told us what they thought we should not get and what they considered a better option. So, they were very knowledgeable. They said, “Stay away from Samsung and LG and go with KitchenAid or Whirlpool.” So, that was really helpful knowing that we’re getting a good product when we do get it. And we paid extra just to be able to get a better product. When somebody comes, you'd want them to be very knowledgeable and not have somebody that you’re gonna then have to get somebody else. We felt good about the skill level and the communication level.
Ron & Karen,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

And I was like, "Dang, I spent all this money for that." So, it was sort of my fault that I did not read the book. He also said he knew where he was coming so he had an actual brand new ice maker and everything in the vehicle in case he needed it. Overall, I'm well-satisfied with this company.

Keeley's Plumbing came out to fix some faucet. But then, the contractor had mentioned that my faucets weren't American Standard or Delta and he was afraid of damaging them. So, he decided not to finish the job, so American Home Shield reassigned the claim to another plumber for a second opinion, and that plumber came out and diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. He'll call and make an appointment when he can finish the job. My tenant wasn't comfortable with the first plumber but she said she was very comfortable with the second plumber. The second plumber's name is B&B Lewis Plumbing. I've had other claims with AHS and all were done satisfactorily.

But it was a good experience.

Plumbing Enterprises called us ahead so I knew they were coming, and then they showed up on time, did what they had to do, and were out.

I had American Home Shield on another house and they were quite good. When I had a problem, they fixed it. Then in my most recent claim, they were also really nice and very good. The AC wasn't working. The controller was really old and it wasn't reading the temperature accurately so the AC would turn off. It wouldn't kick on and then it would kick on but it would be the wrong temperature. It would read 68 degrees but there was no way it was 68 degrees.
The contractor was Total Air Care and the technician was great. He was gonna replace the unit but I had actually just purchased on the Prime Day a Nest. I told him I had it and he checked if it would work. And it did! I was gonna replace it anyway but I didn't wanna replace it when it was doing that because I wasn't sure whether the reason it was doing it was because there was something wrong with the system or something wrong with the thermostat. Changing the thermostat is no big deal but I didn't know that it was the thermostat that was wrong. There had been a lot of noise too. It had actually woken me up from a dead sleep in the middle of night. But we were not able to recreate that and he couldn't find any reason for it. It hasn't happened since either.

I've had the dryer issue for a couple of weeks. It just seemed like everything was hot. Even when I put it on low, it was still hot. I went out one day and it wouldn’t even start. AHS's claims process was great. I called in the morning and by the end of the day, I heard from the service contractor, and he came out the next day. And then, he ordered a part for it and was very timely in getting it fixed. He was very courteous and very professional. It’s working wonderfully now. Our clothes are drying nicely and the tub is tumbling and fluffing. I’m very pleased with American Home Shield.

Our most recent claim with AHS was for the washing machine. The cycle started and when it would go down about three minutes, it would produce a digital notice, which said F20 and shut down. I got the manual out to see what you did when that happens, and it said when that happens to hit the pause button twice. And when I did, it locked everything up. I couldn’t open the door and the clothes that were in there were stuck in the bottom in a pool of water. I submitted the claim online and the website is user-friendly and easy to follow. The guy that came out is really good. They had to order parts and the parts have been ordered. I got an email or a text about that. I'll need the parts to come in, and then they’ll have to come in and replace the parts, and then I'll know if it's working.
Thanks for advising us of the issue and we are happy your experience so far has been of high expectations. If any concerns or questions please contact us. Have a Great New Year and great day.

Had a pipe leak in wall. I called American Home Shield and a technician was sent out. He would not make access in the wall. I called American Home Shield back and a representative advised me to create access in wall so technician to repair pipe, after pipe is repaired to call in for a continuation to repair wall to a rough finish. We did exactly what the representative advised. When it was time to call in another representative told us they will not cover wall to be repaired and previous representative misinformed me. They offered a $75 refund that I still have not received and it has been two weeks. I am now stuck with a giant repair that they will not fix. I was told a supervisor will be in touch and determine if a continuation on work order can be made. Of course, no one has bothered to call. I am very upset, when they have representatives misinform customers and the customer is stuck with a giant repair. Terrible company!! Stay Away!

American Home Shield (AHS) has no problems taking the monthly premiums from our credit card, but when it is time to replace a dead appliance, they put you through hell. The offer you chump change and are nasty with it. Suddenly, you will learn of all the reasons why that is the only offer and why you are not eligible to get a similar product. DISHONEST!!!
We have a 48 inch Kitchenaid 6 burner cooktop with a grill. First they offered a less valuable GE model or $2,500, knowing full well that we cannot replace the Kitchenaid with $2,500. They find excuses to make sure that they give you nothing. Then they are NASTY, RUDE AND DO NOT CARE. REALLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
We have been paying them for years, but during that time, we have had to replace our tankless water heater and dishwasher, OURSELVES. The repairmen they send out could not fix them and AHS refuses to authorize replacements. We live in the northeast, and we could not live without a water heater, so we paid for it ourselves and did not get anything from AHS. Same thing with our dishwasher. Now a few years later, we are stuck with them giving us pittance for our cooktop. SAVE YOUR MONEY & BUY YOUR OWN APPLIANCES. THIS IS A RIP OFF AND A CON!!

I could have just bought a new dishwasher for that price!!! My 2 A/C units leak being they are old. Every year they have come out to "repair' and I can't make it through an entire summer without it failing. They continue to solder and fill while I have been paying for 3 yrs a monthly fee plus a service fee every time I call. The first time American Home Shield sent out a contractor, it was for our downstairs AC. That one had a frozen line because the relay was bad. It took the technicians a couple of visits to fix it because they had to wait for it to thaw then come back with the relay. They made it work. At the time the technicians came, it was really hot but our upstairs AC unit was working pretty well for a Florida air conditioner. Shortly thereafter, over the course of about a month, the upstairs unit just stopped working entirely. It blew but there was no Freon. We had to call AHS this time for that and the contractor they sent out took care of their business. The Freon is in there now. But now, our downstairs air conditioner doesn't work and this is the second time.
Months back when we had them come in, they came and fixed our downstairs air conditioner. We didn't use the other unit for a couple of days after they came because the weather wasn't high enough. About two days after they came, we had to turn it on. It was only 78 outside so I really didn't need to turn it on but I decided to turn both units on just because I wanted to test the upstairs unit that they had just fixed. It cooled down the upstairs and there was no problem. But the downstairs unit was set at 74 and it never budged. It couldn't bring it down one degree out of four. It was 78 in the house when I turned it on and it couldn't drop it from 78 to 74. It had no problem before they were there. Now, our downstairs one doesn't work. The two units are right next to each other and I'm starting to wonder if the technicians are doing something so they can get callbacks.
We have five-year-old air conditioning units and for ACs, that's pretty new. This will be our third call on an air conditioning unit in roughly seven months and the second on the same unit. I'm wondering what's going on. We have yet to call American Home Shield back for this because I wanted another warm day to test it. It's supposed to be warm here tomorrow so I was gonna turn it on and check it. I don't really know what to say to AHS because I can't say without a doubt that the technicians are coming out then the next day, that air conditioner works but the other one doesn't. I can't say without a doubt that the correlation is there and that they are the ones doing it, but it's awfully fishy that this is gonna be our third call and it's always right after they fix the other one.
This kinda sucks but it is part of the contract where we pay 75 bucks every time this happens. That's the reason we didn't call AHS right away when the first one stopped working because we are gonna pay for it every time and we just moved in. Warranty companies are all that way. We had a home warranty when we lived up in Ohio too and it's just the way it is. It sucks but we gotta keep calling in.
My use of AHS' product has been great. But when we initially got the product, we kinda got screwed. The person we bought the home from bought American Home Shield for us and the warranty company was supposed to send us an email. But we didn't get that get right away. We called them back. Overall, we did not get the Home Shield that we wanted. We just got the default one because we didn't answer within the time that they said. But the real estate agent on the other end didn't really make it clear to us that we had to do that.
When we called American Home Shield to tell them what was going on, they did not let us switch it. They told us it was too late even though we never got the opportunity at all to respond to their email because it didn't come to us. It went to the real estate agent. We never got anything stating that we could pick a home warranty. We would like the opportunity to change it but now, they're saying we can't. We have a couple of things in the house that ended up being broken but now, American Home Shield won't fix them because we weren't allowed to get the Home Shield that we wanted. Other than that, the warranty has been fine.

I like that American Home Shield is always available. I also like that I can place service requests online without having to call someone. So if something happens at 10 o'clock at night, I'm not waiting till the next day to place that service request when they finally open. And while I'm sure nobody's working on it, at least it's already put into the queue and the next day, they'll call us back. So, I've been very pleased with that. If we enter the service needed during work hours, they call us to let us know that they're gonna schedule the service with the appropriate vendor. They've always been super helpful and very quick to respond to those service requests. And they're user-friendly. We are moving, and just with my service for my current location to the new location, which we'll be in next week, that was easy.
I was also highly pleased with their contractor, Air Technical. They came out sooner than we had expected. I guess somebody previously on the list had cancelled and because they were close to my area, they called to see if I was available for them to come in. And I was, which was really convenient for me. I was very thankful for that. The tech came in and got straight to the point. He was very diligent in explaining and was very thorough. He explained what was wrong and what he did to mitigate the issue. It was great.

We are renewing American Home Shield and on February 2nd would be the beginning of our third year. We recently had an appliance issue and they sent Jones Family Appliance Repair out. It was for a dryer and it was the best experience I had. I put in the request on Monday early afternoon, and within an hour to two hours, I had an appointment for the next morning. They came out Tuesday morning, and they fixed it within an hour. They were close to the time they said they’d be here. And before lunch the next day, within 24 hours, our dryer was back working perfectly.
American Home Shield could maybe add an option to cover steamers for like showers. It’s electrical. It heats the water and creates steam in your shower. And maybe adding a code compliance add-on to where if you pay the extra couple of dollars, you can have code compliance issued and it’s also covered as they arise due to a covered appliance. Having a home warranty is worthwhile from a standpoint of as you buy an appliance, and it’s covered usually for a one-year warranty, then at the end of that one year, you usually get something in the mail from whoever made the appliance and they’ll say, you can add another three years for this cost. But if you have a home warranty and you buy a new appliance, you don’t have to buy their extended warranty because you’ve already got one built into your American Home Shield warranty.

I had a water heater that went out and I submitted this claim by calling ‘cause the online wasn’t working. The rep was great and then the contractor called me the next day and set up the appointment. The guy and the installation were early. It was in and out. They got a replacement heater which was comparable. I didn’t really have a choice to which one they brought but it’s working as it should.

Our Kenmore refrigerator stopped working, both the refrigerator and the freezer side. My wife came home and there was water all over the floor. Submitting a claim was pretty quick and Sears came out pretty quickly. Sears was pretty good. Their tech said he needed to replace the compressor but because of the age of the unit, it was for up for replacement. They gave us both the buyout option and the replacement of the whole refrigerator. But my wife didn't like ay of the refrigerators that they offered so we went and got out own. I submitted the necessary paperwork about a week ago but I haven't heard back from American Home Shield.

I had an issue and Service Contractors Plumbing showed up on time, did a great job in a very short time, and solved the problem. For 12 years that I've had American Home Shield, I’ve only had to use them three times, but every time, the contractors that they've sent out have all done a great job. Everyone that I've dealt with has been professional and courteous, and has been here in a timely manner.
Thank you so much in entrusting your home warranty with your plumbing issue. We are grateful and much appreciation is owed for your 5 star rating. Do not hesitate to contact us with any service and or contract concerns you may have. Have A Great and Happy New Year.

The technicians who came for my claim were very nice, helpful and informative. The first time, it was Marty and the second time it was another younger gentleman. Initially, the AC stopped cooling and then the heater shortly stopped heating. It was vice-versa. Apparently, the heat pump was in reverse mode. When things somehow got reversed, we noticed that the fan would kick on, even if the thermostat was completely out. On the days where it was freezing inside the house, the fan would just kick on all of a sudden and blow cold air. I thought that was gonna be fixed when the contractor came out and repaired everything. Then I put in another ticket and apparently, that was not covered. Everything was done in a timely manner though, especially the second call-out considering it was the day before New Year's Eve. I was very shocked that they came out on New Year's Day.

Northeast Appliance came out to service my dryer, which would not heat up. I submitted it online and I had no problem with it. They tried to put a new motor in it and that didn’t work, and they checked everything out. They put a new timer on it, but they could never get it to where it would heat up. After they tried that everything, they recommended that American Home Shield provide me with a new dryer. American Home Shield gave me a model that they suggested and they gave me a certain amount of money, and the model they selected was not what I wanted. I did not want a dryer with a dropdown door or with a lint screen on top. So, I was able to work through Northeast Appliance Repair as they also sell appliances, and I was able to get a brand-new dryer for less than the money that American Home Shield offered me.

My dishwasher and refrigerator claims started out on the same call. There was a buyout option for the dishwasher, but we did the replacement option for it. So the dishwasher has been replaced and the tech had come out a few times for the refrigerator. It gets ice in the bottom of the refrigerator portion. The water freezes up the drain and it’s not draining properly. The contractor was good. He’s replaced some parts and if the issue continues to happen, he has an idea for replacing another part. The issue on the refrigerator hasn't been resolved, but he’s been very prompt whenever we’ve called.

I used to call in my claims, but since it takes so long, getting put on hold, I just go online. But the one thing I don’t like about online now is that AHS automatically deducts your credit card. Before, they would do it once the repair is done. But now, it seems like they just take it automatically. Sometimes, I have to cancel the claim because I can fix it on my own, and then I have to go through trying to get the charge reversed. But it is what it is. I’ve had a repair in my primary residence that they’ve had to come out multiple times, and since I did the claim online, it looked like I was putting in a new order or a new repair, which was not the case. I just needed a follow-up. So it would be best if there was an easier way to speak to somebody.
I've had American Home Shield for over 15 years on both properties, so I've had some good experiences and some bad ones with contractors. But the guy from Dave and Sons that checked for a leak in my rental property was pretty good. He was pretty cool and knowledgeable. Usually, it takes two or three days for someone to come out, but this guy was available and he came right out. So that was really good. Especially when you're dealing with a rental property and you got people in there, you don’t want them waiting around. He didn’t find a leak, and he said there's a 60 or 90-day warranty through them. If there's ever a problem, I have to give AHS a call first.

My first claim was for my heat pump that was not working properly. I submitted the claim both by going online and calling in, and online is the easiest if it's not a complicated issue. So, Aquilla Air came out the next day and then the tech got in and took a new circuit board. The boards are already put in that afternoon, ‘cause they were out here in the area. But now, the sensor is not sensing properly as it keeps coming on and off. I would then have the new sensor part coming on Monday. They’ve been on top of it really good and they’ve done a good job so far.

We've been with American Home Shield for a long time, about 20 years. Our difficulty in their claims process is that we usually have to wait for days to get somebody out. This time, for a heating issue, we did not because it involved a possible carbon monoxide leak. They got somebody right away and they handled it very well. But many times, we don’t even use American Home Shield because we need something fixed right away. They need to improve how quickly they get people here. We keep AHS because we have very old furnaces. But if they want to repair them at 20 years old plus instead of replacing them, I’m gonna be very upset.

I had a problem at a rental property and AHS sent out Temperature Techs Inc. The tech fixed the problem and the tenant was happy with what he did. He responded quickly and that was the second time I've had him do work on that particular residence in the last three years. I've got AHS on my own primary residence as well and sometimes it's a little difficult dealing with them because it's a little impersonal. You don't get to really talk to anybody and you're just filing a claim online. Also, there has been instances where I've had problems with the deductible and follow-up calls on some things.
Otherwise, I've been pretty happy with AHS and I had no real problems in getting things processed. Although last year, they replaced the compressor on my AC unit and in a way, I wish the unit had gotten replaced instead of them replacing the compressor because it has the old Freon in it, so it's sort of obsolete. The next time something happens, the unit will have to be replaced because it can't be done. Also, I got charged $800 in Freon for replacing a compressor, which was ridiculous.
We do appreciate your feedback regarding your repair/replacement experience. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We will take into consideration of what has happened and we do thank you for being a valued customer.

My washer was leaking. There was water in the drum one day. Sometimes, I’d wash the clothes and spin them, and they didn’t seem to spin well. And my dryer took a long time to dry. I like to call in and talk to somebody when I submit claims. It was 12/29 when I called in and the gentleman from Bay to Bay Appliance Repair came out on New Year’s eve. He looked at both of them and at the end of the day, there were a couple of things he did. He gave some tips on maintenance, which was good. And he drained this little pump in the washer. A couple days later, I started having some leaking into the drawer on the pedestal.
I thought we were gonna have him come back. I even talked to somebody about that, and it has now stopped leaking. I think the drawer is dry because what may have happened was, I’ve washed clothes, I’m looking at it to see if it was taken care of. Maybe there was a little water that was left in there. So, we were just checking it to make sure. Otherwise, he didn’t find anything. It’s dry now, so that’s good. It’s been dry for three days, so maybe it was finally taken care of.
The gentleman was very professional. We live in a condo, so there’s a secondary vent, and I have been told that I do not need to do a lot of cleaning that vent out. He said, “No, you need to do it much more often than you're doing it because that may be causing a problem with the drying of the appliance, the dryer part.” So, that’s where we are. My experience has been fine. My only problem with American Home is that we’re gonna renew in 2/15 of this year and the renewal is almost $100 than it was last year. So, it’s $565 and it’s a lot of money for the appliances that I have to protect. That’s the big problem now and that’s my only complaint.
We are glad to know your washer and dryer issue have been taken care of. We know how major appliances such as those can be hassle if malfunctioned. As far as the renewal is concerned to better assist you are welcome to contact our sales department for any renewal concerns if you would like at 1-800-247-4749. Have a great and prosperous New Year.

They tell me how much I’m charged for and that they would make a call to the company that would come out and do the repairs. The contractors' quality of work seems to be okay thus far. They’re very nice and kind. The only thing I have a conflict with is that every time I call, it’s $75. Right now, I’m on a fixed budget. I frown at that, but other than that, I have no complaints. The first summer, I had trouble with my air conditioning and it just so happened there was a part needed for the air conditioner. The tech had the part on the truck and he was able to fix it and I wasn’t charged. Recently the garbage disposal was leaking and the tech had to fix that. He tightened it up and it hasn’t leaked since.

They send you a text message ahead of time and tell you their technician is coming, and it comes with his picture, so that when he gets to the door, you've had an upfront notice of who is gonna be at your home. He’s a very nice chap and I think he really thought that was gonna cure the problem, but it really didn’t cure the problem. It was temporary. I don’t think that he intentionally tried to deceive me. But he should’ve probably taken off the trap and look through there and see if there was a clog.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

I called in a claim for the shower handle, the kitchen handles, and the cold water handle in the bathroom and the rep was outstanding. The tech from Price Right Plumbing finished up his other job early so he called to see if I was available that day. It worked out good so much so that whenever I have any plumbing problem, I will be trusting them.

I called American Home Shield on Monday morning complaining 'cause I really don't know what was going on as my heat stopped working. The last time their tech from Extreme Heating & Air came out, he changed the thermostat and the heat worked for a week so. However, once I went back to the house, the heater wouldn't connect with the thermostat and it wouldn't work again. The heater works but then when I set it to 78, it would never reach that. Alternatively, I could set it but then it would turn off. That was a ripoff.
Still, the tech was helpful and he let me know exactly what he was doing. It was tricky for him because he did turn it out. He would think that it was working but then, three hours later, it would turn off. I knew he was trying to get it done. He did a good job and he was nice to us. Other than the issue of the problem still not being fixed yet, everything has been pretty good with AHS.

I had an issue with my shower leaking. I had been getting notices from the city saying that I had a very big leak on my property, that I was losing water. I couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from. I knew I had one in the shower, but I didn't realize that the one in the toilet was even worse. It was losing water constantly. I called American Home Shield and they sent out City Plumbing. I mentioned that I did have a leak on my toilet and the plumber showed me how to fix it. It was a really easy fix and it stopped the big leak from happening ever again. Everything went great.
I’ve had some people from AHS come out before and they have not been very helpful. One guy came for my AC unit and he said, “You need to replace this whole thing. We don’t cover it.” So, he didn't really explain himself. He was very abrupt and made me feel like I was wasting his time so I wasn’t really happy. But I appreciated that this gentleman heard something that was simple and pointed it out to me and said, “You can fix it yourself. It’s not a hard thing to do.” And it was one of those things where it’s mostly the fact that I’m not gonna be getting the letter from the city anymore saying that there's a lot of water leaking on my property.
There are a lot of things that AHS claim that they’ll fix, but I’ve been told, “Oh, we won’t do that,” “Oh, we can’t do that,” “Oh, that doesn’t cover that.” So, they have very few things that they cover, so I don’t feel that they're being very honest. But at the same time, I don’t use it a lot just because it seems like every time there's something that they're gonna fix, I don’t feel they're providing the service. But this one time this gentleman from City Plumbing came out, he really did help me out.

The guys came in and did what they had to do, and they explained to me everything that they were doing. Told me what the problem was and went up in the attic and took care of that. I explained to them about the thermostat and the tech messed with it a while, and he put in another thermostat. I couldn’t ask for a better service.

There was a plumbing leak. I think it was the master bathroom with the overflow drain. And it was starting to leak back there that I kinda expected that we had to get in and tear our drywall on the first floor and get up under this thing and fiddle with pipes. It ended up being just something where there was a bad seal. But the contractor, A 3 Aces Plumbing, found it, diagnosed it fast, and fixed it, and we haven't had a problem since. They were knowledgeable and efficient. They didn't stay there very long, but they didn't need to. They got everything done pretty quickly. We had the home rekeyed when we first moved in and it was the same thing. The guy that AHS sent out was professional and got the job done quickly and to our satisfaction. It has been good.
Thank you so much for sharing both experiences with us. We know that plumbing issues can be severe and pleased to know your issue was resolved. We appreciate the feedback and strive to make sure our consumers are taken care of.

I felt like he ripped me off. He ended up charging me extra money. He told me to do extra work. I told American Home Shield about it at the time, but there was nothing they could do about it. But American Home Shield has always been very good to deal with.

We called in to American Home Shield and they sent Whitney Electric out. The way that the company was is they just send you a text message saying they were gonna be at your house, and then they give you a six-hour window. You can’t change the time. They told us the next day that they were gonna be there between 11:00 and 5:00. They wound up getting here at like 6:00, which was fine. That was actually easier because we’re home at dinnertime.
We’ve had a few issues with the guys that came out. They were rude, to begin with. I asked them if they could take off their shoes or put boot covers on when they came, but they told me that they don’t take off their shoes. The other guy told me that he could take off his shoes, but he said he just powdered his feet and that if I wanted his dirty powder everywhere. I asked them if I could give them something to put over their feet, but they said no. But when one of my guy friends came around the corner, they wound up taking off their shoes.
They went around and looked at a few things. They didn’t look at everything that was on the list because they said they were running late for the day and they didn’t have that much time. They were kinda snotty about it, and they told me that American Home Shield was not gonna fix any of the stuff and that I might as well just pay them to fix it. But it was clearly not working. They wound up sending in a few of the things, but not everything because we had one of them that was a fully-exposed wire box in our living room, and they didn't look at that. They didn’t send it in. So then, everything got put through.
I talked to the lady at the office a few times, and she was great. It was sort of frustrating because initially, the time that they gave me in a six-hour window didn't work for me. But she told me that that was their contract with American Home Shield and that they don’t have an option. They have to see me within 48 hours, so I had to make it work or they have to cancel my appointment and then American Home Shield won’t refund my money. So I figured it out. But the lady was so nice. She wasn’t rude. She was just kinda matter-of-fact with things. So I called her after the appointment because the techs didn't look at everything that we had initially called in. I asked her what they were sending through, and she said they would send everything through.
When the techs came here, there was a plug in my kitchen that they changed out, but they left it so crooked. They had it where it was set such an angle that you could see the back part of the GFI receptacle. I had to have another friend come and fix it. They didn't fix the one in the living room because the tech said they never got to send that in, so I have to call and do another claim for that. But that was on the first claim. I asked them if they could fix it. It was an exposed wire, and I have three kids. And it gives you a zap when you touch it. But the tech said they can’t fix it.
They changed the two plugs in my kids’ bedrooms with a fan. My daughter’s fan was on in her bedroom when they got there, and when they left, the fan does not work anymore. The tech said the fan wasn’t on, but she always leaves her fan on. But he said that it probably never worked. I told him that the fan was working. They wound up putting in an initial switch in the room, but my daughter's fan still wasn’t working. He told me that it's in the new room and that I could go play with it and to let him know if I have questions. But when I went in the other room, nothing was working. Then he said that it must not be the right switch. They had to leave, go to the store, and come back.
The initial switch that was there controlled the fan on one part of it, and the light on the other part. But all the tech did was put a dimmer for the light, and he told me that we were gonna have to control the fan at the fan base. But it was set up to control both of them. He said that was the switch they got, so that’s what we're gonna have to keep.
My daughter’s fan doesn't work anymore at all, and they didn’t do anything about fixing the electrical box. The tech was snappy, and cursing, and rude with my kids. I tried to keep my kids away, but they were curious. He was getting annoyed with my kids coming and seeing what he was doing. So I called American Home Shield to see about doing a recall, and they said that they would have Whitney Electric send out a senior tech because I did not want those two guys back into my house.
I got a text from Whitney Electric the very next day and gave me the six-hour window. It was just a little frustrating. They got requirements, but can’t we at least talk through if it even works for me. So I texted them back and asked if they could send two different techs because I didn’t want those guys back in my house. Their response back was those are the only two techs they have. I said that I don’t want them in my house and I asked if they have anybody else anywhere. And they said, “Nope, those are the only two techs that service this warranty company.” So that was the only option.
I called back American Home Shield to see about getting a different company, and they said that if I was gonna get a different company, then I have to pay another $75 fee. So I paid that because I don’t want these two guys that were rude and cursing in front of my kids, and they were making stuff worse than it was. American Home Shield sent the claim out to some other company, but that company didn’t service their contract anymore.
A week went by and the contractor never got back to me. American Home Shield called him while I was on hold, and he said he doesn’t do those contracts anymore. So then they said that Whitney Electric is the only company and that they would make them send a senior tech. But I told them that they don’t have any other tech and that these were the only two guys that they send out. American Home Shield said that they were gonna see what they could do about getting a different company, and this was about two weeks ago. I haven’t heard anything back about it.
I’ve called American Home Shield a few times and some of their people were super-nice. Some of them do a better job and then, you get some people that are reading from a script and they can’t think past exactly that verbiage on that script. There was supposed to be a key company that was gonna come out to rekey everything, and they never showed up. I was supposed to get a refund for that. I waited about four weeks and I didn’t get anything. I called and they said it was coming and to wait three more days. So I wound up disputing that with my credit card company.
There was another one where there was a leak in our wall, and the guy said that they would send a plumber. I told him it was not plumbing. It was probably through the roof or the faucet, or it was something outside. But he still said that they were going to send a plumber. He said they have to start with a plumber, and then, if the plumber said it was something else, then they would send a person out. When the plumber got here, he called American Home Shield and said that the issue was not plumbing, and they replied that it was not a covered item. They were supposed to give me a refund for that too because I told them exactly what it was, so they should have said that it wasn’t covered. But the refund never came. So I disputed that with my credit card company too.
For everything, I’ve had to call a few times to talk to people, and some of them were really great and seemed to genuinely care. But the other people were like, “Well, that’s your option. You're gonna have to have those guys back in your house. I don’t care if you don’t feel safe with them. You're gonna have to have them there. That's your option,” which is frustrating when you get those. I get that they have policies and procedures. I’ve worked in a place where we’ve had call centers before, so I totally get that they create scripts to help them understand how to navigate. So I understand that they can be limited at that initial call, but some of them were a little bit rude.
I’m very dissatisfied. But the Lansing Appliance Repair has been amazing to work with. They were here to do some stuff with my washer, my dryer, and my refrigerator. When the tech was here, there was something weird going on with my dishwasher, and he looked at it and it was a super quick fix. He has always been super courteous. I would sit there, and my three-year-old would ask, “What are you doing? Why are you doing that?” And he was super good with her. But this electrical thing has been a mess. We moved into this house on November 13th. I called American Home Shield right away, and we’re going into January and I’ve spent $150, but it’s still not fixed and it’s worse than it was.
I am reaching out to you to inquire if assistance is needed with you request?

The guy from Sunbelt Electric did a great job and repaired our electrical problem. It was just before Christmas and it took him a couple of days, but it was not a critical issue because it was just the kitchen lights and not the whole house. We had to have a ballast put in. I’ve done it over the years myself several times but now I’m too old to climb up there and it’s a difficult, tedious, laborious job. He was very expeditious and professional. He explained some of the problems and did it in about an hour and a half. As soon as he fixed it, it worked, and several weeks later, it’s still working. I’ve also had several jobs with American Home Shield and I’m very happy with them.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim and I talked to somebody. And then, Sears came out and got our ref and microwave fixed up. They did a awesome job. Both the service techs was really good. Some of the AHS reps I've dealt with have been better than others and that’s with every job. Before their contractor would come out, you gotta pay $100. Their rep got a mistake on my card and they sent me a bill in the mail. I called and said that I already paid it. Apparently, they had the wrong number and the rep took care of it. Other than that, everything was great. I got my stuff together and got it fixed, and all is well.
We’ve just been in the house two years and we got AHS free for the first year and we wanted to keep it up so we started paying it ourselves. And God is good because we don’t wanna have to pay for the stuff. I just hate that they don’t give new stuff. They keep repairing them. They told me that only when things are completely gone out will they be replaced. We learn that stuff because we have never owned a home in Florida before. This is our first home we bought here because we came from Michigan. So far, the appliances are doing good. Whenever something tears down, we got coverage. They line you up with good people to take care of your stuff. So, that’s a good thing. The price could be a bit cheaper though as you get it every year. We’re seniors, so they could give us a better discount than what they do. I hope they hear us.

We’re not sure what to do now. But he was very nice and fantastic. He really did above and beyond to help. He really was great. He did everything that was possible. American Home Shield handles our claims very fast but there was a mix-up when we used them before and it took almost seven days for the repair place to call. There is a faucet and it's supposed to screw in, and the tech didn't have the right-sized faucet so he jury-rigged it and soldered it instead of screwing in the new faucet. It works, but if it has to be replaced again, then it has to be unsoldered rather than just screwed in. It's not done properly.

I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield. They’ve come through on a number of issues that we’ve had on our home from garage door to plumbing. We had a refrigerator that was less than 4 years old and we were having many problems with it. Dealing with American Home Shield was very easy and they sent out a company. Their recommendation was to get a new refrigerator and American Home Shield got everything taken care of within 3 days. They were phenomenal. Then, for a plumbing issue, Brick Street was sent out and everybody was professional. As a matter of fact, they were 20 minutes early than what was quoted originally. They were very clean, very efficient, and in and out within an hour.
We used to have a different home warranty provider and we were not satisfied with them at all. We went with American Home Shield and we renewed with them two times now. I've only been with American Home Shield for a couple of months. When I had an appliance claim, the Service Specialist tech provided details on where he was because it was raining that day so it took him a bit longer, which was fine. He had that app which shows you he's coming, what he looks like. And when he was here, everything was perfect. He communicated very well and explained how the dryer works. It was repaired and it now works perfectly. However, for items like getting my house rekeyed, it took about 48 hours for AHS to get somebody. And then, I called their rep and they said they weren't able to get somebody out in a week, so we had somebody else outside the warranty. That was unacceptable as far as rekeying a newly purchased house. I'm not saying it was a bad thing. It could be just because I'm coming from a bigger city and where I moved to isn't so big and that could be the reason.
Good Morning Christine,
We strive to provide you with a great team of contractors and an even better customer service experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

The recent contractor company came out to repair the overflowing of my commode. Then on my backroom, they tightened up the knob that brings the wire up and down as it was loose. The technician was kind of courteous.

Our heating system was blowing cold air and American Home Shield sent Harkins AC, Heating & Controls out. The guy that came out did a fantastic job and the experience was okay. But for some odd reason, it worked for a day, then it didn’t work, and now, it's working again. The service technician was great for the most part. My mom’s place, where he did the work on, is 80 something years old and she's very pleased with the work. But we may have to call him out again because it's still intermittent.
Those intermittent issues can be tricky Carlos. I have had a similar experience with my HVAC system. I'm glad that the issue is currently resolved. Please contact us if you or your mom need assistance. Have a great week.

American Home Shield ha people come out that are knowledgeable. They come and fix everything pretty quickly. The tech from Sure Temp came in and diagnosed what the issue was right away. He fixed it, and that was until he could replace the actual part.

The customer service reps of AHS were okay when I submitted a claim for my water heater and dishwasher. The people who did the hot water heater were okay. But my wife said the one who did the dishwasher didn't give her enough explanation of why they couldn't fix it and they were supposed to get back and say if a part or something was missing, 'cause I just wanted to see if it was in the contract to be covered, but they never got back with us. And the dishwasher's still down. But I got the hot water heater problem fixed.

I put in a claim for both the oven and the dishwasher. There was something wrong with the panel of the oven. The oven would work then stop working so it needed to be changed. The seal from the inside of the oven also needed to change. The first dude who came out was not able to recognize any of that. He was a nightmare in the sense that he was technically incompetent and extremely rude. The second guy who came out from AH Appliance was great, very professional, knowledgeable, technical, respectful, and amazing. He was able to diagnose it right away and find the issue, get the parts, and fix it.
I would like to see American Home Shield improve on the following things. Number one, be very vigilant in selecting their contractors because we pay good money as consumers. In return, I would expect service from a technical perspective and an interpersonal perspective. The first guy was disrespectful. I had an American Home Shield representative on the line and he heard everything, and I had to get the guy out of my house.
Number two, their internal processes needed to be improved. When this first guy came in, I requested a second opinion because he said that there was nothing wrong with the appliances. AHS agreed to send a second opinion and they would not charge me the service fee. Well, they charged me the service fee. And again, when they sent the second opinion, they said that if they would diagnose, they would not charge the service fee again. Guess what? They charged me the service fee again. They kept sending me emails that my account is delinquent. They could send it for collection. Their internal communication is messed up. I had to call not less than seven or eight times and then escalate it to the escalations department to get this fixed. Each time, I'll be on the phone for an hour and a half. I cannot waste a good eight to 10 hours of my life chasing after American Home Shield to fix a mistake that they have created.

I had a leak underneath the sink in my bathroom and then the stopper wouldn't go up and down. I always call American Home Shield when I have a problem. So, I called them and they got me Mainline Plumbing Services Inc. The technician had been here before. He was very nice, and he fixed the problem. And I like to see someone that I know 'cause I really don't like to let strangers in my house. Everything's fine now. I've been with AHS for a while and I'd say to others to get them.
We are glad to know your issue was resolved in a timely manner. We strive to make sure all customer issues are handled, and glad to know you were provided a technician that has been there before. Have a great and prosperous New Year.

When we bought this house four and a half years ago, we had a warranty service that came with it and I renewed it once. I started looking ‘cause I wasn’t really happy with the contractors that they would send out. I switched to AHS about two years ago and comparing them with my previous provider, it’s night and day. Recently, my oven went out and everything went perfectly with the claim. The tech came and diagnosed the problem. He had to order a part and he came back and got it fixed before Thanksgiving. Though we had a problem with the very first plumber AHS ever sent who was trying to upsell additional services, everybody else they have sent has been great. I also had a pool pump repaired and the pool guy they sent out was super quick.

We’ve had Aladdin’s Plumbing before through American Home Shield and they’re reliable. They seem like a big company. We’re expecting them today to finish a job, for which we needed a part we just received. American Home Shield is a pretty reliable service and you can select the things you want covered. We’ve renewed every year. It's just that if you call them, sometimes you’re on hold for a very long time. They’re more oriented towards online, which works sometimes for simple things but if there’s a complex explanation, then it doesn’t work well. For instance, our refrigerator is a GE and we want only GE service people to service it. In the past, we’ve had other appliance companies servicing it but they haven’t really known what to do. GE service people can get right to the problem and they know exactly what to do. So, we insist upon a GE repair person, and sometimes it isn’t always easy. But it’s getting easier with time.
Thanks for trusting AHS for your warranty needs. I apologize for the inconvenience as the hold time can be lengthy at times. We look forward to handling your warrant needs. Have a great week.

I had a heating claim with American Home Shield and it went very quickly. I called and then the Weatherwise people called me. They were out that same day, fixed it, and went about their day. It went very smoothly. I was quite impressed. It was quite simple. It took them about 30 minutes to troubleshoot it, and then they fixed the part, and then we were all good to go. It saved me a bunch of money because if we would have gotten the parts, it would have cost 100 bucks to do it if we would have done it ourselves. So far, this is the only dealing I’ve had with this company as far as filing claims but I am already impressed.
Great Melissa! It's good knowing that AHS has been able to provide satisfactory services. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience & see value in AHS. Have an amazing week.

American Home Shield's website is very convenient, easy to understand, and user-friendly. They also give you a timeframe of when the contractor is coming. For our most recent claim, he showed up a little early, which was perfect for us. He came on time, knew what he was doing, very gracious, professional, fast and efficient. The pricing was excellent. The experience was very pleasant to the extent that everything was taken care of. And it was rather pleasing to see that something went right.
Great William! I am happy to hear that we were able to provide satisfactory service. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have an amazing week.

I’ve been satisfied with American Home Shield's service. On my most recent claim, their contractor came and figured out what was pretty evident about the water heater. They then contacted American Home Shield to tell them that it had to be replaced, and they ordered it. And then, they put the water heater in as soon as it came in. It was pretty quick from when they came out to when they put it in.
