American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

I have a valid home warranty. Traveling internationally to come home to a broken furnace and 40 degrees in my home. When I called they opened a claim, but the service agent was too busy to come until the following week. They said unless it's an emergency, they would not do a after-hours service. I called AHS and they said unless it was in the 20s it's not an emergency. Now it was in the 30s. I called a new service agency and paid out of pocket. I called back to get reimbursed, and they refused. This is a scam!!!!

I've had American Home Shield since June of last year. This last claim with our garage door cost me and I wasn’t aware that it wasn’t gonna be covered. AC Overhead Garage came out and fixed it, but I had to pay for the whole amount. They said it wasn’t covered under my policy because it wasn’t the garage door opener, it was the actual door. He said that the garage door itself wasn’t covered, just the garage door opener. And it had nothing to do with the opener. So, even though I paid $100, I paid him $300 and something dollars to get it fixed. I believed what he said and I just paid him. .
The tech was fine. He was cut-and-dry as far as what needs to be done, and I hadn’t read the fine print because I would have known that the actual door wasn’t covered, and that it was just the garage door opener. I really needed to get it fixed. Obviously, I can’t keep dragging the garage door up and down. I’ve only had one other claim, when I had an air conditioning problem, but a tech came out and fixed it right off because there wasn’t anything wrong. The switch had just been pulled. So, he pulled the switch and everything was fine.

Our furnace wasn’t working at all. It exploded and the fan came completely apart. I put in a claim and Todd Poruba Heating came out the next day. They were quick on it, and the fan and the motor of the furnace got fixed. I was very satisfied.

Maye’s Plumbing & Heating came out for a plumbing service and everything went well. However, the contractor had to cut a hole in our ceiling so that way he can check for two weeks to see if it was still leaking. Somebody was supposed to come out and fix it, but they never came and it’s been three weeks now. Other than that, the service is good. I already reached out to AHS and they already are handling it for me.

I called American Home Shield to submit my claim. I like calling in because I like talking to a live person. AV Hawaiian called within the day and they came out to check my pool motor pump. The interaction with the guy was great and wonderful. He was nice, helpful and gave me pointers. He was very good and I told my other friends who have pools that AV Hawaiann is where they need to go. They should call these people. The guy was contracted with AHS but if they didn’t have them, I would recommend him anyway.

There was a pipe leaking under the slab, and I got Robco Enterprises to work on the plumbing. That’s the first time American Home Shield sent people who knew what they were doing. They were professional, pleasant, and really nice and good. They did a great job and were unbelievable. I was happy with them.

Some of the service technicians are kind of questionable in the whole quality of service they provide. I feel that oftentimes, they come back to fix the same things over and over again. They fix something for it to last 30 or 90 days, and then it breaks again pretty quickly. But American Home Shield as a company is great. DJ’s HVAC Services came out recently for a heater and everything went fine with it. They were a bit strange but the problem was so simple that it was solved.

The house was cold and AHS fixed the issue. The contractor was very knowledgeable and conducted himself in a professional manner. He was a nice guy. It was friendly service. Everything was pretty fast from the time we filed the claim to actually somebody knocking on my door. So we really appreciated that because we didn’t have heat.
I’m glad we had AHS because we filed a claim for the plumbing and the HVAC unit as well. And there’s two more items but we don’t even know if it’s worth the $75 that we’ll have to pay. When the microwave that came with the house went out and then also the old dishwasher was leaking, I'm thinking maybe we would just get a new dishwasher instead of paying $75 to get it fixed, but that’s on the house itself. As far as American Home Shield they have been great. Submitting the claim was smooth. We didn’t have any problems.

The central heating was making a loud noise and the heating went out at Christmas Eve. I usually call in to file a claim. It's easier for me since I'm 72 years old, and their customer service representatives have been great. Vail Heating and Cooling came out and realized they had to order a part. It was four days later when the parts came in. The tech was great. I have a heat now. My experience with American Home Shield was great. We've always had good rapport with them when we have a problem.

Our thermostat wasn't working, and the contractor company looked at it. They found out that it was due to when our electrician was out, he somehow half tripped the circuit breaker. My husband had checked the circuit breakers and they all looked good. But when the tech went, he pushed them all in and checked. So, it was just a minor thing and there were no replacements.

The contractor from All Hours Emergency Plumber came and fixed everything we needed. He was good, friendly and described the issue in very much detail. We had several things. We had leaky faucets that were in the master bath, so he replaced the cartridge. And then, we had a stopper that wouldn’t stay up. He said it was a loose nut. He had to tighten up that whole assembly, and it works fine now. And then, there was the water diverters. He couldn’t do much without lubrication, but it’s working as well as it’s gotta work. I agree with him. I don’t ever see them work 100% where 100% of water is diverted, but I’m fine with it.
I had a friend refer American Home Shield to me. I picked them up this year. I have a pretty big house, and it’s 600 square feet. It’s a loss of opportunity. So, it’s better not to have these massive surprises. The house is now 12 years old. Now, we are selling it, so that was one of the reasons I had them out to do some of the stuff that we got through the inspection.

Our heat wasn’t working and it was something like the fire ignition starter, and the contractor from Myers knew exactly what it was when I explained it to him. He fixed it really quickly, and then he stayed and helped explain the Nest to me because I didn’t get it yet. He didn’t even make a mess. We had to call American Home Shield to file a claim, and their reps were good. Everything was fine. The only thing is it took a while to hear back from the people that were gonna come fix everything, and then it took another few days for them to come out. I understand it’s Christmas season. It’s really busy time of the year, but I wish that was quicker.

I was having trouble with my dryer, which kept catching my clothes and tearing them up. So, I set up a request with American Home Shield and a guy came out. He was timely and very knowledgeable, and he did a great job. I hope not to have to use the service, but it's nice to have it if needed.

The Oasis Plumbing was the assigned contractor in our latest claim and it was great. They were very friendly and wonderful. The only thing is, I still don’t feel like it’s going a 100% after they were all done and said. But we’ve already had them come out again and they checked it and said, “No. It’s going like it’s supposed to.” We have been with American Home Shield for a long time and we keep their service as I only have to pay a deductible when they send someone out. I'm very satisfied with them.

Air Technical came out for some kind of board on my heater. I ended up having to call them because they were supposed to call me but they never did. They came out then they took care of it. Everything works good now. At this house, I've had American Home Shield since July, but I’ve had them way a lot before that. It’s convenient.

My three rooms were completely cold. There was no hot air coming. Then in my other room, there was too much hot air coming. So, a technician from South Placer came. He checked and said there was like two months guarantee. “If any problem, call us.” So, then we checked. Still, hot air is not coming so I called last week. He came yesterday. He checked and he said the condenser something maybe needed a clean-up. He is nice. I’m totally happy with American Home Shield. I’m very satisfied.

Pruitt’s Plumbing is terrific. They were the ones that came out after somebody else came out. The rep said, “I understand you’re having a problem with water pressure.” He looked for an outside spigot to measure my water pressure. It was 95 and he said that something had to be replaced and that he had the part with him. The man was courteous, kind and wonderful and since he came out, everything's been terrific. I have better water pressure throughout the whole house, and I don’t feel scared that I’m gonna blow up.
Most of the things that American Home Shield has done for me are fantastic and I love it. The only thing is that my dryer still isn’t done and I’ve been waiting for four weeks now. The technician's very nice, clean and does what he's supposed to do. He's supposed to be out today between 12:00 and 5:00, but he generally comes at about 4:50. Also, every time that man comes out, he comes in a regular car and tells me he’ll be back in 10 days to 2 weeks. He does a good job, but I’ve waited two weeks for him to come out then I have to wait two weeks again to get whatever it is. That I don’t appreciate. If I called somebody else to come out to fix something, it would be fixed that day or within two days.
For example, they’re telling me that they have somebody in Mesa. Where I live is Anthem which is in the foothills and is the farthest north that you can go next to New River. So, somebody coming out from Mesa would be a round-trip drive for him with over 100 miles, 52 miles each way. And depending on where in Mesa they are, it could be 60 some miles. American Home Shield needs a better system if they're dealing with any area throughout the country that would give a better outlook for their representative to assign work orders to. ‘Cause the first thing I’ve learned is, “Tell me where these people are so then I can look them up and tell you who I want to come out.” They gotta get closer like Glendale or Peoria which are in the vicinity.

It was my first time that I had to use the warranty. I submitted the claim over the phone. The rep was very nice and informative. And then Lake Area Appliance came out and they were awesome. The gentleman was really nice. Our claim went really well, but now, I'm just stuck on how do I order the item. I received the email as well. But I'm afraid to place the order because the representative that I spoke with at American Home Shield stated that when the gentleman came out he basically measured the item, and where I'm stuck is that because when he measured it, I wasn’t sure if he measured with the way that it is right now or if he just measured the microwave, because the way that the microwave is right now, made back in 1987, it has a shelf that it's built-in to on the wall. And I'm just wondering, looking at newer homes, I don’t see that shelving anymore.
So, should I order the size that’s recommended or should I go up a size or two? Because I think no one is doing that anymore since it's an old microwave. I asked the rep because the size that they recommended for me is a 1.6, so we're talking about a lot of space in between, if there's no shelving to go with that. Right now, it looks pretty uniform. But I'm just wondering if I don’t get a large enough size to fit that space, what happens with all of that space behind it? It's just so scary. It's like, “Okay. Do you order this 1.6 and wonder, ‘Okay. What's gonna happen with all this large space around it?' Or do you order a 2.1?”

There's never been an issue with American Home Shield. High Priority Plumbing came out recently for a small leak in the toilet. My wife was at home with the gentleman and everything was excellent.

The hot water heater went out so I called American Home Shield. They said, “Parrish Plumbing is the outfit that does the work.” I thought they would call them, but they didn’t. So, I called the plumber myself and left a message. It took 30 hours from when I called until he got here and fixed it. He was great. He was very professional, very courteous and very prompt. That experience was very impressive, but my experience with American Home Shield was lacking. I’m paying them 500 bucks a month and they didn’t do anything. I had to call the contractor myself. They paid for the hot water heater though, which is what they’re supposed to do under the contract. Also, I've had AHS for two years and I haven't received any paperwork or contract in writing. I’ve had to look it up online. I would sure appreciate it if there's one that I could go to to look at without having to look it up online.

In my prior claim, I had some issues reaching out to the contractor assigned to my problem and it was really tough to get a hold of somebody. But in my recent claim, automatically, somebody from Appliance Care contacted me the same day when I opened the request. That was awesome. Then, the guy came out and he was professional. He resolved my issue and everything was fine. So, if I can get more experiences like that, that would be good. Also, submitting claims to AHS is the easiest part. I like the fact that I can do it online and don’t have to worry about having cash on hand when the guy comes since I can pay online as well, which is great.

So far, we've had good experience with the people that they’ve sent. The tech from The Appliance Guy was very cordial and knew what he was doing, and it turned out to be something else that we needed to get. There was a problem with the dryer, but there was also a problem with the dryer vent so we ended up having to get a vent cleaner in as well. But he did fix the dryer. It would be nice though if American Home Shield covers dryer vent things in the house as well as dryer vent cleaning. Also, if we need to submit for more than one thing, I feel like we have to call since you can't do multiple ones.

The pump was out and it cannot provide enough pressures. I had to lower the pressures down so that I can set it off. Our claim where Nicholson Drilling came out went very good. I like the guy and I also like that American Home Shield approved the right part to be replaced. But I forgot if they put the fitting, so there is a small leak. It's wet when they put together the pumps, so I did not see that dripping. But, after a week, I saw the floor still wet under one of the pipes that they put the brand-new part. So, I will call the guy back. In my home, I also recently made a claim on the furnace. It was not running, and their guy came out and replaced the right part. It has been running very good.

My toilet was rocking back and forth, causing the water to run and leak. I submitted the claim for it online and the tech from Watersafe Plumbing who was sent out was great. I've also had American Home Shield at my previous home, and it has been easy to schedule a service with them.

The heater was not blowing out hot air so we filed a claim to AHS. The technician that was sent out was great. He took care of it and everything at once. Everything was fantastic. Every time I call AHS, everything is taken care of.

I've always had good service with American Home Shield. And you could not ask for a more compassionate person than the contractor who came to fix my oven and stovetop. After he fixed my oven, my dog died right in my arms. He took me to the vet, stayed with me and then brought me back. You cannot ask for anybody to do any more than what that man did. He also said I had 60 days to have him come back. So far, one of the burners has been slow to heat up, but it heats up and it's working.

When our garage door would not open, the contractor who came out was on time, professional, quick, and efficient. The motor fried out and it was replaced.

The gas furnace wouldn’t come on, and it has been the striker plate for the last 3 years. Somehow, it seems to wear out in one year now and they keep just replacing the striker plate. I submitted the claim through the computer and it’s been very easy. The response time was great as well. Air Technology was assigned and they're a different company than I’ve ever had before. They were great. They called, came right out, and fixed the furnace. They also called back the next day to make sure that I was satisfied, so they were very good with follow through.
Now, for the plumbing problem I had the month before, I got a terrible company. The plumber came out and I told him that the shower was leaking from the center bathroom and it was getting the carpet wet in the master bedroom adjacent to it. That was how they realized something was wrong and that there was a pipe leaking. It took him a day or two to go out there and then when they did, they said they didn’t have the right equipment and that no one told them they needed to bring the leak detection equipment. That was crazy ‘cause I even talked to him directly when they called me to set the appointment and I told him that.
So then, they said they couldn’t come back till 3 or 4 days ‘cause it was coming up to a weekend, and I said, “That’s not acceptable. This is a leak, it’s causing us damage.” And so, they finally got back out another day later on a Friday. Then, the following Monday or Tuesday, they told my tenants, “Just don’t use the shower. It wouldn’t leak anymore,” but they could still use the water in the bathroom.
Yet they didn’t come back out till I had to call. And I had to call and call. I couldn’t get anything from the plumber that actually came out to say what happened. Nobody got back to me on Monday. Finally, on Tuesday, I got a hold of American Home Shield or someone anyway, and it took them whole day. They also wanted me to pay $1,300 and some because they said they’re gonna jackhammer the cement floor in the master bedroom to get to the pipe, under the shower, and etcetera. American Home Shield would only pay 500 for a pipe and cement, and I had to pay the rest. It was like $2,000. But they couldn’t get back to it.
In the end, I got it fixed by my own plumber. I got someone out that day, examined it, and said they’d come back the next day. They actually came back that afternoon, they fixed it, and it was within the $500. The plumber from American Home Shield was asking over 2,000 and they were just awful. I even had to hold for an hour to reach them, and then they would promise they would call me back, but they wouldn’t call me back. They were terrible and I would never use them again. It was a really negative experience.
American Home Shield should really look at that vendor and that contractor to see if they ever want to use them again. I wonder if there are other people having that kind of problem and if they give them the feedback. ‘Cause I’m retired so I have the time to give the feedback. Usually, I have very good experiences. So, I’m usually pro-American Home Shield even though I’ve had some experiences that were not as good. There was once a contractor who took 3 weeks to get our dryer fixed, which was way too long, and he kept coming out with different parts. So, I’ve had some vendors that I rated with a 2 or 3, but that plumber was the worst.

We've lived in three different states and we've had American Home Shield since we were in San Rafael, which was 2001. So far, we've had good luck with them which is why we've had them for so long. I just don't like that now they automatically charge my credit card when I set up a service call instead of waiting until the service call happens. And I had to cancel a service call once, and then it was a hassle to try to resolve that. When we had a heating issue, they sent a tech from MS Services and he was very good. He arrived on time and figured out what was wrong, and fixed it. He was great.

My brother and my sister have American Home Shield and they've never had a problem with the service. I tried a cheaper company for about a minute and they screwed me on the first time I called so I was done with them. I should've paid the extra money and went for American Home Shield first. Now, I have them too and they did me right the first time I used the service. I set up an appointment and everything went like it was supposed to. I got someone out, who was really cool and he found the problem. He found another problem that American Home Shield didn't cover, but that wasn't their fault. The guy ordered the parts then came out and fixed it. He was great.

I submit my claims over the phone and we’ve been happy with American Home Shield on all of our claims. There were two things that we had a little problem with and the gentleman who came out couldn’t seem to find the problem with either one of them. The refrigerator corrected itself but it went completely out on us and we were not happy that the tech just glanced at it and said that it was working now. The other was a burner on the gas stove. If you turn it on a couple of times close together, it won't come back on on its own. You have to light it with a match or wait for a little while. The tech gave us some crazy explanation that didn’t make sense. AHS sent Rescue Your Air for our heating issue. They had been here before and had done a good job.

The AC was running, but it was only running cold air. I submitted my claim over the phone and it was easy. The guy from Max Air Heating and Cooling was very pleasant and patient. He called us that the was on his way, but we ended up being a little late -- we thought we were going to be back to the house before him. He was still very professional and very attentive to our needs. He was very patient, too. He did something with the unit and he fixed it. It was taken all in one day. Everything was great with American Home Shield.

Everything went fine with the pool and spa claim, but the ductwork never got done. The very first people that came out for the ductwork was Total Air Care. They came out twice or three times, and each time, they said there was nothing that they could do because they didn’t have the equipment to fix what needed to be fixed or either check what needed to be checked. So American Home Shield finally sent out Crain’s. As soon as the guy got out of the truck, he said, “I understand it’s your ductwork. We’ve been having a contract with American Home Shield for over seven years and they’ve never paid for ductwork to be fixed.” But I told him that I have that in my service agreement. So if it’s a problem with it, it needs to be fixed. He said that he would go up and look at it but he repeated that they have never paid for it.
The guy from Crain’s went up and he told me that there was no way for him to even look at certain things. I told him that couldn’t be true because Total Air said they adjusted it. He told me again that I didn't have it since this is a older model house, and they didn’t put that when they built this house. He added that the ductwork needed to be replaced but American Home Shield is not gonna fix it. But I put in another claim for it, and American Home Shield requested Crain’s to come back out, but he never did come back out. They sent a thing to American Home Shield stating that I never answered my phone which was not true. When I got that, I called Crain’s, I left the guy a message, and I told him to have someone call me or come out. And that’s been since December 18th, right before the Christmas holidays. I’m very dissatisfied with that portion. But as far as the pool and spa, that was fixed. They took care of what they need to take care of.
American Home Shield has been great. They try to take care of what they need to take care of. American Home Shield hasn’t been a problem. I’m satisfied with American Home Shield, it’s just certain companies that they’ve sent out. When I had the air condition people come out, they damaged my whole ceiling, and I had to put an insurance claim on because they wouldn’t fix it. So I’ve had some companies that American Home Shield had sent that has done more damage than they have done to fix things.

We had American Home Shield when we first moved in the house and then, we didn’t have them for a couple years. This will be the second year, but it will be the third time we’ve had a contract with them. I did the claim once through online but I usually call and talk. Right after I contact them, they would send an email saying who the contractor would be and they would tell me on the phone that I’ll be contacted within a certain period of time. When the water heater wasn’t getting hot, I called. There were a lot of costs that weren’t covered, but they explained that and I have a water heater that gets water hot, so I’m happy with that.

I had a leak in the ceiling of my living room and when I spoke with someone from American Home Shield, they gave us the name and the number of a contractor. I was told that we would be getting an email, which we did. But the plumber couldn’t come that day. It was gonna be the following week. This was right before Thanksgiving, plus it was a good leak so, we called back and AHS expedited the claim for us and got somebody out right away. The contractor was really nice and told us what was going on and explained it to us. He had to fix the connection on the pipe and everything has been functioning perfectly since. My experience with AHS has been professional and very good.

Clifton Heating came out to repair my heating problem. It took 24 hours for them to come out, but they told me that ahead of time. They were very polite, knowledgeable, got the job done and were gone. I did the claim at American Home Shield online and it was surprisingly easy.

I got AHS by recommendation from family members, and they have been very good. The most recent claim I had with AHS was for a washing machine. There was a leak inside the machine. The washing machine was almost half full of water. I had to let the water out before I could wash. I called Home Shield, and they gave me GE Appliance's number. I requested a date, and the rep gave me the date and she said from 1 to 5. AHS also sent someone to fix my stove and the contractors were professional. The stove is now doing very good.

I started to do my claim online, but it was limited. It wouldn't let me put everything I wanted to put, so I called and I spoke to someone. I submitted claims for a few things, including a bathtub, two toilet bowls, and a sump pump. Clog Busters came out, and they did a great job. They were efficient, and they definitely knew what was going on. They had to order some parts and get approval for some parts and go pick them up. They came back and fixed all the issues in about two hours.
I have researched a couple of warranty companies before I went with American Home Shield, and these companies get people to help them and they take too long. All little companies that do that kind of work use outside contractors who actually do the work. There was somebody who had some experiences with one company where the people lived in another state, and they took too long. But American Home Shield didn't have any of those concerns. Their people were local and got to you quickly. Every time I've used them, they've gotten some local companies. And the people they work with seemed to be pretty efficient.

For our plumbing issue, Heros Plumbing Service came in, diagnosed the problem and repaired it. They did a very good job. They’ve been here many times before so I’m quite familiar with them and even their technician. The one they sent had been here before over the years. So, it was a good relationship. We've been with AHS for a long time and the contractors they use so far have all been good. I have no problem with that. Everything is really good. The only problem we have with American Home Shield is if something can’t be repaired and needs to be replaced, the wait can be a long time.
We went through a couple of months trying to get a microwave oven and the washing machine went and they were gonna replace it but it took a while. If they have made their decision that they’re going to replace something, they should replace it in a timely manner, not drag it out. The microwave oven went for nearly three months. And they kept getting parts and getting parts, but the guy kept saying the same that it couldn’t be fixed. He kept getting the wrong parts. They had to reorder it, and that all took time. When he got the parts and they still weren’t right, he went back and ordered again. And then when he got them and he put them in there, the thing still didn’t work and it went on and on. And one day he told me he should just go to Walmart and just buy one out of his pocket and put it in here and be done with it. That was how he felt about the experience. It was really a drama.

Last week, we had Budget HVAC come out to fix our furnace. They came right away and they were fantastic. They were super-helpful, super-quick, efficient and kind. Everything was wonderful. But the companies we had prior were awful. We switched home warranty companies because we were so frustrated with the company before. But we found out that the same company bought American Home Shield, so it was really the same company that we were trying to avoid. We didn’t realize that there was that merger until after the fact. But they don’t really listen as far as the input that we have given them time and time again.
I get that there are scammers out there and they have to check their company and their business. And people come jack up the quote, and I understand the real world. But they’ve sent so many incompetent companies who came and told us that they did not know what to do. We have a drain issue in the basement that still hasn’t been fixed. They sent the same company two or three times and they never showed up. When they didn’t show up, they said they were coming two days later, but I never got a phone call that they were coming. When we contacted American Home Shield to say that it was not working for us, they said, “This is who we have to use.” And they weren’t budging off of using this company.
Then, the company came again, did not fix the problem, but told American Home Shield that it was fixed. So, it was a whole another ordeal just to get somebody else out here again. We went our own private way, to use, like by word-of-mouth, a friend of a friend that owns the company. We had them come out. The contractor told us what was wrong, what he could do and how much it would cost. So, we have to save in order to do that. We called American Home Shield again to see if maybe they can send another company. It was a kind person this time who we spoke to.
So, they sent a different company out. Same issue, the company never showed up. It was unreal. My husband was losing it with the rep on the phone. They would put my husband on hold and then call the company again. And my husband was like, “How many chances are we gonna give this company? If they didn’t show up, they didn’t call, the job didn’t get done, we move on. And we understand that there’s a protocol, and they have to go about it a certain way.
Finally, they sent the third or fourth company here, which ended up being the person we hired on our own.It’s so frustrating that we have to do everyone else’s job. So, we’ve been very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and how they go about finding these outside providers, and the chances they give. They'd say, “Okay, we’ll call and set up another appointment.” That's not acceptable and it’s not like we live out in the middle of nowhere where that’s the only choice of companies to use.
American Home Shield should listen to their consumers a bit more. If they are so confident and headstrong in these companies, then have the consumers take pictures and send it. If they're saying the job isn’t fixed, then maybe they need more proof because now, another two weeks go by. We’re waiting. We don’t know what’s going on. It just seems like a major lack of communication or the company that they are using are a bit incompetent. Maybe it’s to save a buck or it’s just the luck of the draw. It’s quite unprofessional.

One day, my wife smelled gas at the cookstove. I called Home Shield to get somebody to come out. They sent Fleming Appliance Repair. We called the gas company and left the stove off until the tech came to fix the stove. He came the next day, fixed it and then there was no more gas smell. I've had AHS for at least three years and I'm satisfied so far. Everybody that I know has also been satisfied with them.

Everything went very well with my recent claim with AHS. It was my refrigerator. There was the flap that had to be replaced because the door would not shut properly. The contractor came out. He had to go back and get the appliance, which we were so grateful that they had it in stock. So he came right back and put it in and it was fixed in no time. We were so glad that the part did not have to be ordered and we did not have to sit and wait on something to come in for it to be replaced. Each time we’ve had to call in a claim to AHS, they responded properly. And any time we’ve submitted a claim, they gave us a reference, whoever to contact to come out and service the items, and usually, they come out right away. We’ve had no problems with American Home Shield in getting things resolved here.

American Home Shield needs to have persistently good vendors. I've had them for a while now and I also have a couple of homes which were with them prior. I have some good experiences and some bad experiences. I had an issue with my water heater in my other home and the contractor came out. The guy who was there wanted to sell me his own product, so I wasn’t happy. I called another person on my own and paid him, and he came and just fixed it. In another claim, At Your Pool Service came out right away and fixed the problem then left. So, that was a good one.

We were with Choice before and I didn't like the way they handle things. They seem to deny more claims than they should have and they would get people that were just totally out of the area to come over here. Somebody who's 50 miles away shouldn't have to make a call in Leland. So, we switched to American Home Shield and we've had them for 5 years already. They have been very good about covering what seem like a lot more than what other people had and are easy to deal with. In a recent claim, they sent Steven A Mills Plumbing for our water heater and everything went very well. He came and replaced a small part on the top of it there, and it seems to be working fine. My husband was the one that interacted with him and he found that it was a good job.

American Home Shield is a very reliable company. They quickly respond, and the contractor that they have on hand are very well-knowing with what they’re doing. They are well-recommended in the city too. Recently Wayne Hyde Plumbing came out. They say they would be here at 9 o’clock, and they showed up on time, and started working with the plumbing. They went through it and explained it to me, including everything they would be doing at the house. They fixed it and so far I have no issues with the plumbing.

The glass top on our cooktop was broken and I submitted a claim online through American Home Shield. Before, I had trouble reaching anyone online and I used to try and do the phone-ins. But now, the online version is much easier to use than it used to be. And American Home Shield is very busy these days, so it’s hard to reach a human when you call. For this claim, AHS assigned King's Appliances and someone contacted me after two days. The tech didn’t physically appear but he called and asked for the model number so that he could order the part. So, my wife got underneath the counter and got the model number out. Then I got a phone call early this week from American Home Shield saying that the part was no longer available and that they would have to replace the cooktop.
They also said that they would be sending me an offer of a new top, so I’m still waiting for that. I haven’t received anything but they said that once I get it, I can either accept what they have or I can use their service for an upgrade. Or I can go out and purchase one myself, have it installed, then send them the bill. But I will probably not do that because I know the company’s complexity.
Other than that, we have AHS since we moved into our house 10 years ago and so far, we had one other experience with a replacement. It was for our oven which they were unable to repair after about six months. But when the replacement showed up, the guy said that we ordered an oven that was too big to fit into its setting. He said that we could either accept it and put it in ourselves, or he could take it back and we'd lose it. My wife, who was the only one at home at the time, told him to go ahead and set it down. She also asked him to take the old oven down but he said they couldn't do that.
When I got home, I unpacked the oven and it’s exactly the same size as the old oven. I ended up self-installing it only to find out that I wasn’t allowed to do that. So, I had to uninstall it, and get an electrician to come over and reinstall it, which I had to pay for. I had to dispose of the old device myself, too. I was pretty unhappy with that whole situation and altogether, it cost me about $400 to get everything done. I also told my wife that she will not be home for the next one because it was obvious they took advantage of that fact. But despite that experience, overall, I am very satisfied with American Home Shield.

They kicked in the service when I made the call. The installer let me know that they were gonna be by and when they were gonna be by. They came by with the new microwave and took out the old one, and put in the new one. It took them an hour and a half or two hours. Most construction guys make a mess, but these guys didn't and what little they did, they cleaned up.

The freezer part was working, but the refrigerator part on the Samsung had stopped working and the temperature was 60 degrees up there. I called American Home Shield and they took what I told them and then they took my deductible. It was about four or five days before they could get to me though. I called on a Monday morning, and they couldn’t get to me till Thursday. Also, they couldn’t fix it immediately. They had to order a part, so it was another week before they could get back to me to fix it. We didn’t have a refrigerator for almost two weeks. But so far, it’s been great. I'm satisfied with what they did and how they did it.

The upstairs heater was not working and I submitted the original claim three weeks ago online. Myers Comfort came out and fixed it, and after a couple of days, it quit working. I called them back that time because if I tried to do it online, they're gonna charge me the dollar again. And that was when they sent the other guy last week and he said that the whole furnace will need to be replaced. I asked how much will I pay or how much will they pay? He told me that I have to pay almost $1,500 to match with the city code. That was last week when I talked to American Home Shield and I never heard from them or from the Myers since then. Nothing has been taken care of. The heater is still not working, so the claim is still open.
The technician that was sent out was a good guy. I’m not sure why they told me it’s unfixable. If it was unfixable, why did the other guy who was just here say otherwise? What has changed between the two evaluation? I was thinking of getting another opinion or just find another contractor because I didn't understand what is the $1,500 to match the city code. I didn't know all these terms. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. American Home Shield has been good with us so far. They all have been responsive. I just hope it gets fixed soon.
We do appreciate the feedback provided and apologize there is an issue with the furnace. It is comforting, however to know the issue is being resolved.

We called AHS for our washing machine, because there was no hot water, and the lady we spoke with kept saying it was the water heater. She sounded like she was from another country and it was like the water heater was the only subject she knew. They kept sending people out to work on the water heater, and that went down two or three times before we ever got the situation sorted out. The contractor who then came out was wonderful. He did the work and cleaned up. I am a retired 30-year air force member and had lots of dealings with young men and women, and this guy was absolutely most courteous, professional and understanding. I even asked for him the second or third time we called.

Affordable Leak Detection came out and did a good job of getting me in as soon as possible and showing up when they said they were gonna show up. My only suggestion would be that once they leave the job, they communicate that the work has been completed or need continual work. We've actually had two work orders with them and in both times, I had to follow up with the office to ask if everything was done. They were competent though and they were great, very kind and professional when I followed up with them. It was a good experience, overall.

We keep renewing with AHS because our house is getting a little older and our appliances are fairly new, but we feel like that it's a good thing to have for appliance and home issues. The only issue I have is when I call them. It takes forever to get service but other than that, they do a fine business. National Platinum Service came out for our most recent claim and they determined what went wrong with the appliance and that they needed a part. They told me that in a couple days, they would get back in touch with me and come out and fix the part, and sure enough, they did. They stayed in communication very well. They resolved the issue and the appliance is working fine now.

I spoke with somebody at American Home Shield when I had some bad ceiling fans in my house, and they said they had a new contractor, Georgia Boy, that was rated high. The tech did a great job and went out of his way to help me. He was better than all of the other contractors that have ever come. There was another one from Total Air that was really good too. The HVAC guy diagnosed a problem that everybody else kept missing. It was a short in one of the wires that was very hard to find, and he found it.

The LED light of the refrigerator went out. I called AHS and the Astro Appliance tech who they sent out was good. He knows when he looked at it, ordered the part, and came back and installed it. I had no issue with him and everything went good.

We've used American Home Shield twice since we've moved here and both times have been very good. The tech from ABNation was fantastic. The hot water part of the hot tub was not working, and he was able to diagnose the problem. He came in and had to wait for a part, but he got it done. It was a simple part, but it's not the kind that somebody would carry on their truck with them. He was able to get the part over the course of a week and come in and put it back in, and it works like a champ. I'd bring him back here in a second.

I was with American Home Shield before for a number of years, and then somebody tried to tell me on their end that they couldn’t provide cash in lieu of a kitchen sink faucet that I wanted. It was a fairly new kitchen, and the one they wanted to put in did not match anything. I wanted to cash out, and they wouldn’t let me. So, I just went out and bought my own new one. That’s why I quit the last time. I’m sure they can cash out. They just had a customer service rep answering the phone that didn’t understand the rules. Clovis Heating and Cooling recently came for the air conditioner, and though they weren’t sure what they did would fix it permanently, they fixed it and there have been no problems since. The tech didn’t order the new part that he said would be needed in the near future, but he fixed it with a part he had on hand. In one visit, he was done.

The freezer stopped making ice and so National Platinum Service came out, looked at it, and ordered 2 parts. Then they came back and put the parts in, and now it’s working great. They were really good and did a great job. We had coverage with American Home Shield when we bought the house 25 years ago, and then we got them again and we've been with them for at least 6 years now.

American Home Shield's contracts are simpler to read and they've always done what they said they were gonna do. Recently the tech came exactly when he said he was going to, and he counted all the locks in the house. He was very knowledgeable. We have Pella doors, and he knew a lot more than I thought. He took each one apart, fixed everything and gave me new keys. Usually, people around here complain about the work that they gotta do, but this guy didn’t even complain.

When the water in the toilet kept running, the technician that came out did what he was supposed to do in a timely manner and left. However, I wish that the time from when AHS calls until somebody from the contractor contacts me was a little shorter. AHS says within 24 to 48 hours. This time, it was less than 24 hours but on previous occasions, it has been almost 48 hours. Also, when I've called them over the years, understanding the people on the other end has been a little difficult. I have always found myself asking them to repeat themselves because I couldn’t understand the first time. Aside from that, I've had no problems with AHS.

I submitted a claim online to AHS because I couldn’t get the light to come on, it was an electrical problem. Usually, when I submit a claim to AHS, the work’s done really fast. Sometimes, it’d be the next day but I think because of the date that I submitted, I didn’t get the contractors until that Monday, which was fine. Everything is fine now. My lights are working fine.

The service was gonna be at a later time and it was during the winter, so we were without heat. Home Shield did an extremely fast job in trying to call Artech on our behalf to try to get it fixed. Artech got the unit to work and I'm back at my house again. So far, it's still working and I hope it stays that way, especially right now in the winter. Though they could have done it sooner, there are things that they have done for us that are still working. They did an amazing job and the problem was resolved.

When I was working with my Realtor, she gave me home warranty choices. She said essentially there were three carriers for that type of insurance in this area. She told me to go online, research them and see which one I like best. So, I did and I saw that American Home Shield has the best testimonial letters on the website. And I've been with them for a month now. Their claims process was kind of weird. I had just recently signed up with them so their rep called me to cover the parameters of the policy and what it covered. I said, "Let's use a real-life scenario. My toilet's clogged up and my garbage disposal sounds like it's gonna die." She said, "That's perfect. Let me pass you over to the claims department." They were great.
The plumbing problem resolved itself before CNJ Services got here. The second problem with the garbage disposal, the guy came in and stuck his hand on the garbage disposal and he pulled out the end of a pink roller that hold the pink roller on a thing. He said, "Let's see if that worked," and it did. The guy was super fast and super efficient. The people from American Home Shield texted me back and said, "That's not covered, but it's already done, so we'll just let it go."

We bought our home in July and the seller got American Home Shield for us. She knew that the air conditioner was not very good and she didn't wanna be bothered with it. The air conditioner then went out within two weeks and we ended up having to replace it. But that went great. I've also submitted a claim because the light went out on my oven, and the contractors sent out were very courteous. We bought the light and the cover hoping to do this and they had it fixed. Everything was done within five minutes. It was terrific.

Our furnace heated the house, but all of a sudden, the blower went out and the furnace wouldn't heat. I needed somebody immediately. Mostly, AHS put it through in very fast. And then, I had to wait for the company to make sure 'cause they have other clients. So, it all was a good turnaround but at first, I was like, "Ah, I want it now." I really like the company that they sent out. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They're somebody that I would definitely use. As a matter of fact, I've had them come out for a check on my AC to make sure that everything was up to speed.
However, I wouldn't want some of the people that American Home Shield have contracts with. I've had the experience several times when something's gone wrong. And a lot of them don't have company cars or badges. It's like they’re running it off out of the home. And if you look them up online, they either have no stars or haven't had anything. AHS might wanna take the cheapest off and go with the next group. They really are iffy and I wouldn't want them in my house. They're not safe so I had to cancel several times, call back and ask for a different company to come out.

Appliance Care came out for my washer which was not spinning. The tech was very knowledgeable, cordial and professional. At first, it seemed to be working, but I washed several clothes and when I got to the fifth load a couple of days later, it didn't drain again. I prayed and said, "Let's try this again." I washed them and then went through the whole cycle. Initially, I went back to go through the spinning cycle, and still, there was water at the bottom of the washer. So, I was a little disappointed. But when I went back to the cycle, it did eventually do that. I also attempted to call American Home Shield the other day about the dryer and no answer, so the online process works better.

I told AHS' contractor to come out on Monday and they said that was okay and they would call me back with a time. But they came out without calling and so I had to reschedule. AHS ought to have their delivery people to be more accurate in communicating with the customer, so they can be at our home when our products are supposed to come. However, sometimes, AHS doesn’t have control over what companies they pick and if the people are professional or unprofessional. Other than that, everything was good. I like that I could submit claims on the phone after work. It doesn’t have to be during work hours. I could also do everything on the internet so that was cool.

The guy that came out, Richard, did a fantastic job. And I appreciate him coming out. I've got bronchitis. I've been sick and that night, it was supposed to get cold. And it was cold, and it was hot, and my body was all kinds of crazy from the stuff I have. Richard not only came out, but when it didn't get done right, he came back. He thought he had it fixed, and then when he left, it quit working again. I figured, "Well, if he's closer, it might save him a trip again coming back tomorrow." I called him again and he said, "Yes, I'll come right by." And he came out and he worked on it until he finally fixed it. His demeanor was absolutely perfect. I can't say enough for his attitude. I've had a few of these guys that came out and it's like, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." This guy was nice. He was personable and got the job done. He was just real cool. I can't say enough for him.
I appreciate the girl on the phone that got it bumped up to Richard for him to come out. I know it's surely like a day or two just waiting but I was very sick and I told her. I hadn't heard back from AHS. They only said, "Wait, we'll give you a call." So, I called back just to make sure everything went through. But when the girl found out I was sick, she said, "Let me see what I can do." And she got it bumped up to an emergency. I can't say enough for what they did for me on that.

I put in a claim for the first time and the process was very smooth. I called the contractor Metro Air Services on Monday and then they came out on Tuesday. The guy came out with the part that he needed. He fixed the heating issue. And 'cause I have two units, he saw that there was an issue with the second one but it was still working, and he said he would return to replace that part too and he did. It took him maybe two or three days 'cause he said he had to order that part, but while that was going on, I had no problem with my heating system. They knew what was wrong, they fixed it, and I had no problems since. It was fast and smooth. I had Choice before American Home Shield, and every time I called them for something, they kept telling me that it wasn't covered. So I got rid of them, and I went with American Home Shield and I've been satisfied. I've only put in one claim so far and I've had no issue.

It was wintertime and my furnace would not heat. We called right away to submit the claim to American Home Shield, and they were able to send out Heritage Air & Heat quickly. The individual was great. The issue was a sensor that he had to clean and he did it right away. It got taken care of quickly. Overall, everything went fine.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for an appliance repair. A tech from Active Appliances came out on the first call. He wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t smile and he was just very cold-acting. I explained that to American Home Shield. People are who they are, but when you’re spending money, you want someone that’s cordial, professional and pleasant, and I didn’t get that. I described to him the issue with our dryer. He fixed it really quickly. All he did was he just blew the dust out of it. A couple of weeks later, it started the squeaking again. I called AHS and the same guy came back out again. He said the issue was that it wasn’t doing it when he came out. I said, “It’s for sure doing it because we have recordings of the noise.”
The tech said, “I’m gonna file an insurance claim and then someone will get back with you.” Nobody ever got back with us. As a matter of fact, I don’t even think they even had an order for anything, which makes me wonder, what happened to the paperwork that he was supposed to have submitted for some kind of insurance claim? I called AHS and said that I already paid the $100 deductible for the tech when he came out, but he didn’t fix it. Same symptom, same problem. They waived the $100 and I told them not to send Active Appliances and to send somebody else, because I don’t wanna deal with them anymore. They sent out Edward, the tech from All Valley Appliances. He looked at it and said, “I know exactly what it is. It's your pulleys, your belt. I see this all the time with older Maytag.” He was very friendly and very nice. He ordered the parts, came back three days later with the parts and fixed it. Everything is perfect now.
That was what I expected out of the first contractor but I didn’t get it. For whatever reason, it seemed like they were trying to shortcut the issue, not really research it and find out exactly what the problem was. The tech did the quickest thing that he could think of to try to resolve the issue then, but it was a temporary fix. When you’re paying 34.99 a month, plus every time you call for service, you pay $100 deductible, I want things fixed. It’s that simple. Just do your job and I’m happy. When Edward came out to fix it, he didn’t say anything about an insurance claim. He said, “I don’t have it on my truck. I’ll order the parts for you. I should have them in a few days.” He came back out within a couple days, record time, and fixed it. So, I’m concerned why did one guy said he had to go through some insurance claim process when Edward from All Valley Appliances didn’t mention anything like that?
The process should be the same with the services that American Home Shield uses no matter who is doing the work. With that in mind, I need to see how it will be handled if we have another claim for something. Because I had to cost them a significant amount of time on the phone explaining the situation. It’s stressful, it’s nerve-wracking, especially when you’re spending money. If I’m spending a monthly fee and if I have a situation, I make an appointment, they come out, I do my part. I'd pay $100 deductible, but I want it done right. And when I see that occurring multiple times, then I feel like American Home Shield is offering a good service. But right now, with the experience that we’ve had so far, I’m not sure.

A few hours after I filed a claim online, I got an email notification that someone would contact me. Then a few hours later, Prime Plumbing contacted me. The toilet was running and they replaced a part in it. The guy had the part in his truck so he was able to repair it that day. He was also really nice and very informative. I've had American Home Shield for a couple of years now and I haven’t had any problems with them at all so far. I have 3 properties with them.

The faucet in my shower wouldn't shut off all the way. AHS sent DFW Plumbing & Drains to service the claim I made. Now, the faucet shuts off alright but then the hot water doesn't engage all the way.

The garbage disposal just broke one day and it leaked water. We did a claim online, and American Home Shield’s response time was great. I was very happy with them and the technician. He wasn’t able to repair the disposal so he had to put a new one on, which he had with him, and is now working great. Overall, American Home Shield is doing a good job.

Submitting claims with AHS is a really easy process, but I wish there was a better way to indicate the priority or urgency of a request. In our case, our furnace wasn't working and we had to call the provider, but they hadn't received the claim yet. It wasn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to have been able to indicate that it was an emergency request as opposed to having an issue with our oven's handle, which is a lower priority.
Also, they should have something to show the specific coverage plan. I often forget and I usually have to read through the documents to see if something is covered. For example, I had to put in a claim about exterior electric. The provider came and wasn't actually able to figure the problem out, but they said that it wouldn't be covered anyway. If there was a way to indicate that when the claim was being put in, that would be helpful. However, the service providers sent by AHS have been able to fix the garbage disposal and the furnace. And when Stockdale Service came out, they were really awesome. We were really impressed with them.

The first company that American Home Shield sent out told me they couldn’t fix my electric issue. They needed to build a scaffold and would have to charge me all this extra money. So, I had to go back-and-forth with AHS quite a few times. They finally got me a secondary company to come out, who did well and had it fixed within two hours.

Our heater wasn’t working properly and American Home Shield was quick in sending out someone. It took an hour and a half. The contractor was awesome and it took him about 40 minutes to fix the heater. Everything is going great now.

I call Airmax Inc. whenever I have an issue as I've had really good success with them, especially for my heating and air conditioning. They remind me that I have to go through AHS first so I call Home Shield and tell them which company I wanna use for my claim. However, there was a time when one of the reps at AHS tell me that they can't give me the contractor I want. I tell them they can 'cause I've done it before with them. I'm adamant that I want Airmax as I've had a time when AHS sent someone out for work and that didn't go very well. That rep whom I was talking to put me on hold and when she came back, she told me they could make it happen.
Most recently, Airmax came to service my request for my heater that wasn't working. But then, when the tech showed up, it was working. It hasn't repeated what it was doing since he came. Another time before last, the heater or the AC wasn't working and the tech came out and found that there was an issue with one of the components.
So far, I've had contractors sent sent to me that didn't do a very good job. For instance, the plumbing people AHS sent out didn't do quality work. When that happens, I let AHS know I wasn't pleased with the service. Their reps would tell me that they would have that contractor come back out and I would tell them I don't want that. If the contractor didn't do the job right the first time, then either they don't know what they're doing or they do shoddy work anyway. When I tell AHS that, I don't have a problem. Still, when they send my heating and air conditioning people, those claims have gone really well. For someone to get their service who doesn't really know how to advocate to get what they want from AHS, they may not have a very good experience. Usually, I don't have a problem with them.

I did my last claim with American Home Shield online, and then the people from PJ Appliance called me the next morning. They were okay. However, they were slow in terms of the window of time. They said between 1:00 and 4:00, but they didn’t come till after 4:00. But for the most part, they did what they were supposed to do. Everything’s working fine now. I've been with American Home Shield for five years. Before, you could pay the people. Now, you have to pay them before the people would come out. It could be improved upon though.

My plumbing problem started on a weekend, and the first time I called AHS was the week of Thanksgiving. The person was very efficient. She immediately sent me an email telling me Cleveland Plumbing & Gas would be out and gave me the phone number. I called them just to see what their plans were. They were here first thing Monday morning. So it really didn't take them long with the fact that it was right before the holiday.
Two people came. The first time there was only one person, and that was the day after Thanksgiving. And then we were away from home a week, and when we came back, we had the same problem again. And they sent two people. Once they cleaned the outside plug-out way before Christmas we haven't had a problem. They were all good and were very professional.

American Home Shield's claim process is easy. I just go online and put everything in and be done within a minute or two. I got Sears in my last claim and everything was smooth and straightforward. They contacted me beforehand when they were on their way. And when they arrived, the tech knew exactly what he was doing. He knew the part to replace based on a diagnosis and I didn't need to know, but he told me exactly what part it was and what it did, so he was great. Then he did the repair and it was quick. This experience was what I expected and there was no hassle on my end, so it was very good.

High Priority Plumbing and Services came out to fix a plumbing issue and everything was excellent. They got here quickly but there was an unusual part in the water heater that they didn’t have on the truck. The tech warned us that it could be Monday before he could get back. But they called me the next day and the woman in-charge there had sent somebody out to get the part, so they put it in the next day. They got it in faster than I thought and they did a great job. They were very customer-oriented. American Home Shield came with the house when we bought it in July. It's the first home warranty I've had and I will renew it. Their claims process was simple and easy to do. And when you’re only paying $79, that’s a good deal. It doesn't take too many problems before that’s paid for itself, although that’s the only problem we’ve had so far.

I usually use the website to submit claims and I’ve used it for multiple years. It's very easy to navigate through and then it lets me know when the contractor’s gonna respond to me and the approximate window when they will respond. When the claim is assigned to the contractor, they let me know who the contractor is and send me text messages and email. I had a dishwasher that was leaking and a refrigerator that needed a new control panel installed. Tarheel Appliance Repair was the assigned contractor and the service they provided was excellent. The technician was very professional and he performed the services flawlessly. He did what we needed them to do. At present, the appliances are functioning like brand new.
My overall experience with American Home Shield is excellent. I’ve had their services for a few years already and always have been satisfied. I had been provided their home warranty on a home purchase previously and when I purchased new homes. From our previous experience with them being assigned to us from a transfer of ownership, we then just continued to stay a customer with them. Now, we're on the third home that we’ve had them out.

An AC & heating company was sent out to deal with my heating issue. The thermometer wasn't detecting and the wires were crossed, so the contractor fixed the wires and it was good to go. The work performed was excellent and American Home Shield has been very good.

We have AHS for over a year now and they do a good job. Their claims process is also pretty easy, straightforward, and very good. Recently, we had a plumbing issue and they assigned American Water Works to come out. I liked the fact that when we needed somebody, they wanted to come the next hour, unlike other companies. They were very good and very professional as well. The tech came on time, too. After he checked out the problem, he went and bought parts, then he came and fixed it right away. That was the best company we’ve ever had.

Out of the 5 times I’ve needed AHS, they only helped 1 time. I have previously written a review of my disappointment with AHS and thought I was done with them. But, I recently bought a new house and the house came with a one year warranty with AHS. A few months living at the new address and the water heater goes out. So, I thought I’ll give AHS another shot, since I have the warranty. This was a waste of my time. The AHS representative told me that I would be placing my service call at my own risk. Which cost $75! If I could give American Home Shield zero stars I would. Don’t waste your money on any of their warranties. American Home Shield will only help empty your wallet.

City First Electric was awesome. The technician came out really quick after I filed a service request online. He looked at it and did the ohm test. He was very nice and very professional. He said it was not the electrical. So he kinda messed with some wires and the wire was loose because he reconnected it and it started working again. This claim turned out great. But I had a refrigerator repair and it took almost four months. So that was not a good experience. Nobody could decide who was responsible for fixing it. It's a Kenmore refrigerator so Sears is responsible. It's going out of business so you have people that are not Sears employees coming out and they had no clue and nobody kept track of what the other person did. And every time somebody came out except for the last time, it was a new person.
Every time they told me that they had to do something, it took two weeks to get anything done. It was an awful experience. I almost canceled because of that. I called in and the customer service I got was horrendous from both AHS and Sears. They dropped the ball somewhere between their communication. There was no history for them to look at.

The water heater blew and it was leaking water all over my garage. A claim was submitted digitally. It was done right away. American Home Shield had a text message confirmation for me pretty much immediately that the claim was in and that they had assigned a local contractor for it. Then a little bit later, there was another text message about the date and time of the contractor to come in and see it. All American Plumbing and Rooter came out to get an estimate. They couldn't fix it over Christmas. They had to order the repair parts and then two days later, the contractor came out and did the replacement. He was professional and courteous and everything's great. They ended up replacing the whole water heater plus a release tank that hadn't been installed 12 years ago. The back of the toilet was leaking because the pipes were clogged. The guy from Home Pros had to come in, snake it out, and blow it out. Once he did that, it started working again. He was fantastic and he explained to me what he was doing. Since he came out, everything has been perfect. American Home Shield, overall, is easy.

I rented earlier and the homeowners had American Home Shield, who came out on several occasions to fix stuff. I was very pleased with the interactions, the quality of the work and everything that was done by the contractors, and AHS's responsiveness. Appliance Magic had to order a part, and it hasn't come in yet. Nonetheless, I liked the tech guy. His name is John and he explained everything to me as we went along. I also had an issue with my shower and A & D Plumbing had to replace the thing in the shower to control the water. The tech was fine too.

Trying to get through to American Home Shield is like pulling teeth at the dentist’s office. They owed me $75 for a year, and I kept talking to somebody in the Philippines, and it took me forever to get a hold and talk to an American. Then, finally, a nice lady got it straightened out in two days. Still, it took me a year to get $75 back from them and talking to them is just not easy. When I don’t understand something, I can’t get a hold of somebody right away when I wanna call them right then. I’d have to take forever to get through to somebody and I don’t feel comfortable talking to the people in the Philippines. That’s a waste of money. It’s an American service and if they wanna hire people, hire Americans.
In a recent claim, I had a plumbing issue where Arnon Rooter was sent out. The plumber was a nice guy and he did his job. He went from the cleanout in the yard through 100 feet and didn’t hit any roots. Then, when he came from the house out 100 feet, he hit one or two little roots but nothing. Not even a handful. He said, “Well, I gotta stop. The company won’t pay for nothing else.” But there was some kinda substance in there. He called it like a jelly substance, so they had to do a hydro-flush. I don’t know if American Home Shield covers a hydro flush or they don’t, but I had to pay $300 separate for that. I didn't understand and it was like, “Well, you got roots. We can’t do nothing of it.” I'm thinking why am I paying for a premium service that can’t handle my sewer drain problem?
Having tree roots or something’s kinda normal and stuff happens, especially in older homes. Yet I can’t believe I’m paying this much money that I pay each month, hardly use the service, and then like, “Well, we can’t go through further.” Everything's in fine print all the time. I’m an old guy. I’m a senior citizen, and it just seems to be a hassle. Nothing’s explained out in easy terms. On this last deal, I didn't feel like I got my money’s worth. I’m not blaming the plumber. He did what he was told to do by the home warranty company. But I’ve been with American Home Shield for 9 years already and they need to step up their service a little bit.

Our AC unit kept freezing out and we submitted a claim to AHS. They sent Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing and when all was said and done, the guy said that the AC was supposed to do what it was doing. They sped up the time when they defrosted it. The tech was cool and according to my wife, he was very reassuring. She was very worried about the floor but she was much more at ease after the tech talked to her. Having this warranty has been very valuable. We signed up for another year.

I got American Home Shield so that if I have a problem, I will call them. When our hot water was not working, I called them and the reps I spoke with were very nice. They said they will call me, so they called me the date. Gaithersburg Plumbing came out to fix it, but they didn’t fix it right. The water was cold so they had put the hot water. But when they came in, they put the lower number. They didn’t put the hot water on the right place. So, we have to call for the second one. Other than that, they’re okay.

I had a leaky valve in the toilet and I had a faucet that was not functioning in the kitchen, and they handled it fine. I also had appliance issues and they resolved them too. The warranty has a good value and I've recommended them.

I'm happy with the job that the tech did on my dishwasher. His name was Rafael and he came from a company in Franklin, Indiana. He had to analyze the situation. He diagnosed the problem within an hour or two, and then, the next day, he was right back to do the job. He had to put a new motor in my dishwasher. He did such a good job. I am very satisfied.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years and their service is prompt. I had a plumbing issue but it was just a little sliver of bone stuck in my garbage disposal that would not let it run. So, it was $75 for nothing. The contractor got it out and he was extremely nice, and my disposal is fine.

Every time American Home Shield calls, they say wait for the people to contact me, but I don’t. I call them immediately and make an appointment. We had a gathering one Saturday and the thing that held the Freon in my air conditioner had rotted out in the bottom. They said the contractor couldn’t come out the following Monday, and I told them, “I got 50 people coming here. I cannot be here without air.” They went ahead and made the appointment. Burleson had to totally replace that and I had to buy all the Freon. I had to spend almost $600 on it. Air is working wonderful though, better than it has in years.

It was just a big mess dealing with Home Shield. I’m about to cancel my service with them because they charged me $75 for a company that came out on December 24 who left me with something not working and telling me that it’s gonna have to be replaced. On December 26th, they said they would be calling me to replace it, not telling me that it was something that I’d have to pay for. It wasn’t covered by the warranty. They were trying to sell me a brand new garbage disposal for thousands of dollars. Then they made up a story that there was little, tiny rocks of some sort stuffed in my garbage disposal, which I knew was not true because I didn’t have any little, tiny rocks that would even be around my garbage disposal. So I put a light in there and a camera, and I took a picture myself and it shows nothing in there.
I called Home Shield all day and then two of their representatives said that since nobody responded in four hours, that I need to call my own plumber out, then they would take care of the cost of anything. But two of their other customer service reps including a supervisor said that was wrong information, because you can’t have your own plumber come out when they’re coming out to check the diagnosis of the first person, besides disagreeing with it. So everybody was all messed up, and no one knows what they were talking about.
A whole day later, Home Shield finally got someone out here. That guy came, and he was here for less than a minute. He said that I didn’t need a new garbage disposal, and he didn't see any rocks. He put his wrench in there, did something and it worked immediately, within a minute. So it was all a bunch of BS from the first company that they sent out. And then the customer service I got from Home Shield was so horrible. I must’ve made about 12 to 15 calls to them that day, and just because they kept getting disconnected. No one would call back. It was a whole nightmare. So the least that they could do is reimburse my $75 back to me, otherwise, I’m gonna cancel my policy with them. I also have seven other rentals I have it with, and I’m gonna have them all cancelled. It’s not about the money but it cost me that much of my time dealing with them on the phone. And then they had a company come out who completely lied. I’m not okay with that.

Overall, I’m very happy with American Home Shield because it’s a great value for the dollar. Plus I know that I don’t have to shop around, find somebody and get bids. But once in a while, we get some of these contractors who seem like they don’t wanna do the job and then I have to get a second opinion. I would wait five days for the first guy to come out and then I would have to wait five more days for a second opinion. Sometimes, there are also critical issues like air conditioning in a heat wave. I would like to have the better guy the first time.
I’m not a big fan of the way they select contractors. I don’t know how they select them, whether it’s a lottery or whatever. But when you go through online, they select who comes out and three times, I’ve had vendors come out who, for whatever reason, said that I didn’t have a problem. One issue was my air conditioner. It was 96 degrees in the house and the contractor said the air conditioning was working fine. No, it wasn't. But they told American Home Shield that everything was fine. So I asked for a second opinion and American Home Shield sent somebody else out. EF Mechanical found the problem and solved it immediately, and I’m glad that they did but my mom is 94 years old and we had to put her in another place because it took almost two weeks to finally get the right person. You have a reasonable expectation of getting service done promptly and not have to go through the queue again.
I had another experience with American Home Shield with a plumber. There was a leak around the base of the toilet so I called American Home Shield up and they sent a plumber out. But the plumber determined that the floor in my bathroom was not level and that’s why it was leaking. That was pretty frustrating because it was a brand new slab that had been recently poured, and it was absolutely perfectly level because I had put a level on it. So I called American Home Shield for a second opinion and somebody else came out. They looked at it and said the seal on the bottom of the toilet had deteriorated. They pulled the toilet up and replaced the wax seal, which probably cost six bucks, and everything has been fine since then.
So there are vendors or contractors who come out that, apparently, don’t wanna do the work and that’s a waste of my time. That's considering the length of time it took to deal with the bathroom and the toilet we couldn’t use. If I can talk to somebody and not do the claim online, then there can be more of an interactive conversation on something like that that’s really important, rather than dealing with voicemail. I could have told American Home Shield not to send certain people because I’ve had a problem with them before.
That first AC contractor had also told me that the intake vent in the hallway was a fake and it wasn’t connected to anything. What does he know though? When I had my house rebuilt after the earthquake and all the walls were off, I saw, with my own eyes, the tubing to the vents being installed. So for him to come out and say that, without even looking at it, it told me right there that he doesn’t even wanna be there. But once I got the right guy out and I told him, he laughed when I told him it was a fake vent. To have someone come out and tell me that the vents are fake or my that brand new poured slab is not level is really insulting and I don’t need those kind of people coming out.
Then again, when I talk to American Home Shield and I request a second opinion, I get the other person out. And if I got the right person, American Home Shield stood behind the warranty and we got the work done. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. The contractors have been very nice as well and EF Mechanical is a great company. I had a water heater issue that was repaired and that was fine.

We called our claim in and the reps were excellent. It was taken care of properly. We called over the weekend then Five Star Home Services came on Monday morning and checked the water heater which was making some noise inside. The guy was very pleasant and he was knowledgeable. He showed us where the problem was. I thought we didn’t have any problem but the water heater was too hot. He checked all the leakage outside and everywhere but he could not find anything wrong. He then adjusted the temperature. That’s working perfect right now. He took care of everything. We were very satisfied.

There was a time when I noticed a leak around the bottom of the wall where my water heater was at. When I opened the heater, there was water seepage at the bottom. We put in the claim to American Home Shield and within an hour Mando’s Plumbing called and set up a time to come out that very day. The techs came that afternoon and said the heater had to be replaced. They contacted American Home Shield and got everything worked out.
In less than 24 hours from the time we contacted American Home Shield about our problem, we had a new water heater in place. Mando's and AHS did an excellent ob. It's a lot better than if I would have just gone to the store, picked a heater up, came back and installed it. Everything went very smoothly. I recommend AHS.

Something went out on the heating unit and it wouldn't come on. It lost power. Myers Comfort came out and did something. The unit is working now. The first guy said it was an electrical problem and it wasn't. So, they sent an electrical guy out, and he said it was a heating problem. They then sent somebody else back out. The second technician was great.

When I submit claims, sometimes, whoever I deal with speaks English but it’s not really clear. I have an issue understanding what they’re saying, but we eventually come to an agreement. Also, they’re very nice and courteous. The only thing that would be a potential improvement would be on the certain amount of time before they respond, and it's in 48 hours. I am a fairly new customer because the policy was bought when I bought the house on December 11th, and it’s just my first experience with dealing with something like that. Also, I got hit with everything because it was a long distance move for me. But basically, when we worked out, and I understood what was going on, the experience was fine. They sent Air Link Mechanical out for an AC issue and the tech was very knowledgeable and explained a lot of stuff to me. The service has really been good.

I've had some not-so-good experience with AHS. I've paid every month and there were some problems for which I made some claims and their contractor came out but nothing was done. I didn't feel like the $75 service call fee was warranted, but they charged it anyway. More recently, my pool pump started making very loud noises uncharacteristic of the normal performance. Since I've had a pool for the better part of my life, I knew that the engine of the pool the pump was going bad. I called AHS and placed a claim. They let me know within 48 hours that I would be called by Expert Pools and something would be set up.
The techs from Expert Pools were very professional. He gave useful information about the way that we keep our pool sanitized to my wife who relayed it to me. Since the repair, things have been good. The pool pump is quiet and running like it's supposed to. My expectation though was that AHS was going to replace my pump because how old it was. AHS didn't replace it but Expert Pools repaired it and that's fine. Overall, I'm satisfied with AHS.

Right before Christmas, the washer sink in the laundry room was leaking. The sink in my first floor washroom also had a drip which was causing my water bill to be high. AHS got those two sinks fixed. It was good service. The plumber was out here immediately and told me what he did at the time. This was my second claim and so far, I've been satisfied. For the air conditioner claim, the contractor had to come out multiple times to get down to the problem. The last one got prolonged because I had to wait some extra couple of days because the company said that they were being inspected and they had to deal with their inspection.

I had American Home Shield previously in my house before the one that I'm in right now for a year. Then when we bought the house that I'm currently in, the seller gave us a different home warranty for the previous year. Once that home warranty ran out, we went back to American Home Shield. And then, I did a claim for a plumbing issue and everything went really great.
Our water heater was leaking and it was kind of nerve-racking. The Home Shield people were really nice because they called and got someone to help immediately that day as soon as the plumbing open. The plumbing people got out quickly and they were on time and attentive. The plumber said it was not fixable so he told Home Shield that they needed to replace it. AHS then called me and they went over what the warranty covered and everything that we had to do. It happened in a span of four days, and they were able to get the plumber back in to change off to a new water heater. And everything has been great so far. It was over the holidays, so we're happy that they were able to get it done even though it was holiday time.

We bought the property last year, and when we bought it, we got some notice from some AC company down here that they would do a 30-point check for $30. So, when we came back this year, we had it done and they found other things wrong, and they were thinking we needed a new system. So I decided to use AHS and they seemed to think we didn’t need a new system. There were two young men and they were very good. They were nice to work with. They did a good job. We ended up spending $700. The system seems to be working okay. And so it went pretty well. We are very happy with AHS.

American Home Shield covers more things than most policies. Plus they have changed their program since the very beginning 'cause now you can see it a lot easier. Recently the fellow that came from American Star was excellent. He scheduled the appointment and came when he said. He looked at the issue and replaced what was needed. And he also went a little further. He lubed the garage door so it didn't make noise. I asked him about programming my car door opener on my car, and he did that. I was very, very happy with him. I also had him do one extra thing where I had him put a seal on which I had to pay extra for.

I have a heat pump so the AC outside unit comes on and it was making a weird noise when the fan would come on and go off. I filed a claim on the app and then I got a thing saying who was coming. There was also like a little map of where he was and how long it would take him to get here. They said that the tech was on his way at 9:00, and nobody was at my house that time. Someone from Wallace Plumbing called me and I asked if I could get another day as I was having chemo that morning and my husband won't be back until later 'cause he was at a doctor's appointment. The woman on the phone said it would be the next Monday before they could get out so I asked if we could do it later in the morning. She said, "Yeah, I'll see if he can come." She said it would be between 8:00 and 11:00 or 9:00 and 11:00, and I said, "Well, 11:00 would be better." The tech got to our home before my husband did but it was fine.
I gave the tech the code to my door, so he went ahead and started doing whatever he needed to do and then my husband arrived home. The tech said it was just a noise that those heat pumps make and he didn't do anything to it so it still makes the noise. He said it's something to do with the Freon in the lines. When it comes on or something, it does something and it makes that noise. He said it was a normal noise but I’ve had a heat pump before and I never heard it make that noise. It wasn't making that noise when we first got to our home. But I haven't used the heater until I came home in the end of October so I don't know if it's just something with the heater or if the air conditioner's supposed to make that noise too. Still, I've used American Home Shield twice so far and I haven't had any problems with them. I was choosing among 3 providers and they seemed to be the best. I also asked my cousin who had used them and he said they were good.

The guy from Tennessee Plumbing opened the wall and saw that the overflow from the drain from the bathtub had leaked. Now, I have a nasty stain on the ceiling that was not covered under my warranty as it was considered to be secondary. I spent $20 this morning on rubber gloves, cotton balls and a tweezer so I can get up on a chair and see if I could manage to deal with the ceiling and make it look any better. I spent my first Christmas in my brand-new house with a big, fat moldy looking spot in my dining room ceiling and I've spent more money on the house than I've ever spent on a house in my lifetime. I walk in the front door and I gotta look at the stain on my ceiling. But that's not American Home Shield's fault in its entirety.
I've had American Home Shield warranty for 23 years. Currently, I have them on two houses. For a single mom like me, it's more comforting to know that if something happens, I can call and somebody is gonna come fix it. But now, in this case, I've got to get another contractor. I wasn't super thrilled. American Home Shield also called to tell me that they were denying my secondary damage. I'm fully aware of the fine print but I know for a fact that something had to be done. Because, if it didn't exceed $250, they would only repair it back to "rough finish" and then I have to get a Sheetrock or paint person to finish the rest of it. So, that's a new thing for me. I had actually pulled this contract and read that there was no longer any allowance for it. I thought it was funny that they were in a hurry to let me know they weren't gonna cover something.
This is the first time I've ever had a secondary damage and I was surprised when I found out that the service fee was $100 'cause I've been with AHS since my service fee was $25. The last one had gone up to 50 and then it had gone up to 75. I guess, every time I move, my service fee is gonna go up by $25. And then the home warranty was almost $300 more than whenever I started with American Home Shield. So, I spent $100, but then, I gotta spend another $100 to have a painter do the touch-up work.
I also had a problem when my microwave was broken. They kept trying to fix the piece and I kept telling them it wasn't working right. They would come and say it was, and it took six visits before they finally said that they would replace the microwave. And then, I forgot about sending them the receipt and they wouldn't give me the money back for microwave that I had paid out of pocket for. But they did install it.
On the other hand, American Home Shield now has a rekeying service which is a great idea. I was trying to get stuff moved in. I told the lock company that came out that I would like to set a deadbolt on the door in front of the basement because I'm probably gonna turn that into an apartment. I know that they only cover keying six locks and I had maybe one or two locks more than what was covered but they were willing to do them all in that one appointment and not make me have to make another appointment. And so, I was highly pleased with that service. That didn't take up any more of my time. And it was legit! The rep wrote it up on the invoice and said that the more locks you do, then the rekeying becomes less expensive.

I've been with American Home Shield since about 2006, and every year, I continue with them. Their service is very good. I'm very happy with them. I continue every year because it seemed like if something goes wrong in my house, then mostly everything has been covered. And they're excellent about coming out. If I call at midnight and it's something, usually the next morning, they give me a call or else I have their phone number and usually, they're out that day. So, they've been wonderful. I highly recommend them.
I had a claim where AHS sent A+ Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling. They were very good and did an excellent job. They were friendly and took care of what needed to be done! We had to have them out a couple of times but we got it all taken care of. They had to have a fan replaced and they had to order that before they could come out and put it in. They came out and put it in for me, and everything has been fine.

I've been with AHS for a couple of years now. I checked out Consumer Reports and they said AHS was pretty good, and so that’s what I went with. And then there were some other people that talked to me about it. I’m 72 and I didn’t wanna be sitting with the prospect of an air conditioner or something very expensive going out on the house and having to pay an $8,000 bill to fix it. This way, I’d rather go ahead and pay AHS 40 bucks a month or whatever I’m paying, and know that if it goes out, AHS is gonna come out and fix it or replace it, I’m good.
I submitted a claim to AHS because our garage door opener wasn’t functioning correctly. They said somebody would be in contact with me and he was. He called me within a few hours. The contractor did a good job. They came out and they told me what was wrong. They said there was some maintenance that needed to be done. It was gonna take a couple of days ‘cause it was right over the day before Christmas when it stopped working. And then he came out and put it back on very efficiently. It took him about 10 - 15 minutes. I asked him, when he said the maintenance, what maintenance I lacked and what maintenance is required on the garage door. So, he told me what to do and how to maintain it. He fixed it. I’m happy.

My refrigerator was freezing. The damper was broken and I submitted a claim with AHS online. I got an email back that said that they processed my copay and it was assigned to AT Appliances with a phone number, but the company would call me. Their reviews were pretty awful, but the guy that came out was great. He figured out what was wrong and they ordered the parts. Then they called me when it came in and then they came out and fixed it. Now, the refrigerator is not freezing my food, so I'm happy. Also, I was trying to get a screw undone and I had stripped it. I didn't have the right tools. Then I went upstairs and when I came back downstairs, the tech got the screw out for me. He was a really nice guy.

Three Brothers A/C and Heating came out to check my rental property's systems because nothing's working. But all it ended up was being a fuse or something along those lines and so it was a simple repair. They just said they took care of it and they were done. So, it was quick.

Home Appliance Solutions came out for my microwave. The fellow diagnosed the problem, but he did not solve it. He replaced the switches, and then he took it off the walls and then the counter. He said, “Look, it seems to work,” and then he put it in the wall. He then said that it must be the circuit breaker and my circuit line, but I said that I did not think that was what was going on and that I would call my electrician. He was good, though, and he also suggested to replace it.
I then called my electrician and he came out immediately. He said that the circuit was fine and there was nothing wrong with it. He said that there must be an internal issue with the microwave that could not be repaired. And that was why we went ahead and replaced it. I purchased exactly the same appliance. I had to go to Richmond, Virginia to buy and pick it up from a Sears outlet store there because that was the only one that had it in the vicinity. I wanted that exact microwave because it matched my other appliances. Plus, it fit in the exact hole that I had. American Home Shield has already sent me a check for the replacement. On this particular experience, I was very satisfied.

I got American Home Shield after I did some brief research and it seemed like they're the best one for what I needed. I've had them since middle to the end of October and they fixed one problem but they couldn’t do another problem. Apparently, it was not covered. I didn’t quite understand it, but that’s what I was told. Navigating through the website to submit a claim was very easy since I’m good with that kind of stuff.
I filed a claim for some faucets that weren’t working and the website immediately said that Galloway Plumbing was the contractor. Galloway contacted me the same day and then they got to the house the very next day, so it worked out really well. The techs were both very professional and straight to the point. They turned on the valve and checked the one upstairs. They were only there for about an hour and had me fixed up so it was well worth it. It was an easy fix and they did really well. Everything has been functioning well since they’ve been out.

When I called AHS and told them that the air conditioner's fan wasn't running and it got super hot, they told me that someone was gonna contact me within 24 hours. The contractor contacted me and I ended up setting up an appointment. They then came out and I ended up being very satisfied.

I phoned American Home Shield on a Friday and their contractor, Active Appliance Service, was not gonna come until the 27th, five days later. I thought about it and I realized that the message I was getting on the dishwasher was computer-like error. I’ve had experience with other appliances where if you see something like that, you unplug, and then it resets itself. And that was what happened. So, there was an issue. I think what happened was every now and then, I have to clean it and when I put back the O-ring in the arm, I probably didn’t place it right and that caused it to send me that error message. So, I solved the problem on my own.
I've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years. They do cover our pump well. I've had Sears and I don’t recall that they covered that. And then my husband already had an experience with American Home Shield and he said, “Well, if it works, why change it?” Submitting claims to them has been easy. Although I had a little difficulty when both my husband and I tried to reach them. Apparently, they only allow one email, so we both can’t contact. Now, if he has an issue and he tries to log in, he can’t. We both have to use the same email. That issue wasn’t that great, but it would be helpful. And it's not so good that they were gonna take that long to come out and repair my dishwasher. One other issue was they have a big window of 12:00 to 5:00 when they can come out. So, you lose a whole day there. Nonetheless, the contractors that they send out are professional. English is not their main language, but I don’t have a problem communicating with them.

The heat wasn't coming on at all, and it ended up being the thermostat. We needed a new thermostat and Cool Experts took care of it. I find no difficulty with submitting claims as it's fairly easy. I can do it online or I can call AHS.

I'm a realtor and personally, I really like what American Home Shield offers. Both times that I've had it, we've had slow service. But we lived in Waterford, Oklahoma and almost all the contractors were coming from Oklahoma City. Now we live in El Reno, so we have a little bit of an issue getting contractors out here. But everyone that they have sent out has been good to us. They've always taken care of the problem. We're not a super handy family, so it's been really nice for us to be able to keep costs down with the coverage.
Legacy 4 came out late November to replace the water heater that was leaking. However, I had multiple people out before we actually hired them. When I originally placed the call, American Home Shield could not find anybody in the four-hour window. So, they allowed it to be where we could go outside and hire somebody else. We brought in another company, Airco, and they waited and tried to get approval through American Home Shield. When I called back in to see if they had approved it, American Home Shield told me for some reason, both claims were dropped. And so, they issued a new claim, several days after the original claim. Legacy 4 called me and said that they were put on that new claim. It was pretty drawn out from the time that I actually filed it 'til we got the repair work done.

My dryer stopped working. It was working but there was no heat. American Home Shield's claims process was fine. I made the claim, paid the $100, and I got a call within a day. The repairman from Amtec Services came out, diagnosed the issue quickly as the heat pump and he ordered it. It took 7 to 10 days to get the part, but as soon as they got the part, they called me and I was able to get it fixed quickly.

I've been on and off with American Home Shield. There was another competitor that I had in another residence that I had for rental. But I’ve been with American Home Shield for quite a few years and I’m pleased with their service. I really liked Intercity Plumbing who came out to fix a plumbing issue. They were on time, efficient, called before, and did what I expected. The gentleman who did the service was very helpful and he didn’t try to push anything. The experience was really good. There are some things that need to be done that aren’t part of the home warranty and I’m gonna be calling them back to do that.

I called American Home Shield about a few plumbing problem, they sent 2 plumbers out to check problems. They reviewed faucet leaking, leaking water from drain, #3 shower would not come on in main bathroom. We are in process of selling home and had to get a local plumber to repair. We have 2 policies in effect, 1 from realtor, and 1 from personal home policy, both cover plumbing, after plumbers submitted claim to American Home Shield, they refused, said problems not covered. I am in the process of contacting the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. The real slap in the face is they charged me $75.00 service call.

I am very unhappy with the service that I have received from both American Home Shield and the contractors that they use to complete the repairs. Today's date is Dec. 23 and I put in the original repair request in on Nov 15th for my refrigerator because it had stopped making ice and then the next day the entire thing quit cooling. We called and made the request on Friday the 15th and a repair person came out on the following Monday, 18th, and said that it was a compressor but that he didn't work on compressor so we would have to have someone else come out. We contacted AHS and they were unable to get a repair person to come until December 11th and when he did come he checked the refrigerator and agreed that it was the compressor but he didn't have the parts to fix it so he orders them. They were delivered to our house two days later but the service tech could not return until Dec. 18th.
On the 18th of December we were called by the outside contractor and told that someone had called out and they would not be able to get to us and we would need to contact AHS to reschedule the appointment. I did this. When I called AHS and explained the situation they told me the soonest appointment they could give me was Dec. 26th. I asked to speak to a manager for the second time because that was unacceptable to me. I was then told they would try to get me sooner appointment and they did. They sent someone out on the 20th and he fixed the compressor. The tech told us that the reason the ice maker didn't work was the compressor and to give it a day or two and it would start working. Today is the 23rd and it is still not working.
My refrigerator has also started to leak since the 20th and when I called to get someone back out to fix it I was told that the soonest would be the 30th of Dec. When I said that was unacceptable because of the water leaking all over my floor, under the refrigerator where I can't get to it, they have all but refused to let me speak to a manager. I am waiting on hold currently and have been for 1 hour and 15 minutes to speak with a manager. During this time I have been wait the representative came on the phone three time to try and tell me why I don't need to speak with a manager. I find this to be completely crazy and considering this is a renewable service I am shocked they would behave this way.

My HVAC went out in December of 2018, They came out and said my compressor needed to be replace. They said they would cover parts and labor but I had to pay for Freon. The refrigerant price per lb was higher than all contractors I called and checked with, $900 bill. I reluctantly paid it. New compressor was installed in Feb 2019. Only 3 days went by before the re-manf compressor was bad again. The contractor who installed it covered it and installed another re-manf compressor. Now it's Dec-2019 and my compressor is bad again. Makes a horrible screeching noise. AHS said it's outside of the contractor's warranty and I'd have to pay another refrigerant bill if I wanted them to replace this compressor again. I have had it with AHS, so I have called in five times to cancel my plan, only to be hung up on every time I state I want to cancel my plan. Worst company ever! Do not give them your money, find a different provider.

American Home Shield is trying to charge me $75 for a service call that never happened. I fixed the issue before anyone ever responded and they’re telling me that even though NO service was performed (no one even showed up to my home), that I still owe them $75. Now I’ve got another problem with an air conditioner that just occurred and they WILL NOT dispatch a repair company because they’re saying “my account” has a $75 balance that has to be paid. Do not purchase from American Home Shield!!! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCESS IS TERRIBLE AND WILL ONLY CREATE MORE HEADACHES AND PROBLEMS!!!

My fridge/freezer has not been working since Aug 1. It's now Dec. 22. It's STILL not working. Customer service is outsourced to a foreign country. No supervisors available. I've had two different companies out, I've had dozens of home visits between the two companies, replacing the same parts over and over. If I had money I would have long ago gone out and bought a new one myself. The frustration and incompetence of this company is unreal. On top of it all, they charged me a second service fee for the same continuing problem. DO NOT BUY A WARRANTY FROM THEM! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

American Home Shield did a great job. They sent out Whirlpool technicians for my Whirlpool clothes dryer that wasn’t heating up. The techs were great and got the job done quickly, and everything’s working fine since the repair.

I called in a claim for the refrigerator and Home Shield sent Sears out. The guy came, checked it out, and said that two parts gotta be replaced. He said he would order them and they would be here in about a week, but I may not be able to get it installed until after February. Who’s gonna wait three months almost for a refrigerator? He gave a direct number to wherever he works or whatever his department. When the parts arrived, I called in and they said there was one more coming. I asked how long that was gonna be and she said I should be expecting it within the next couple days. But almost a week went by. This was after Thanksgiving. Nobody could save any food or anything because the refrigerator was not working.
I called Sears again and told them the part hasn’t come. I didn’t understand what was taking so long. The rep said that the part was on backorder and wasn't available. How come they didn't say that at the beginning when I called in? She apologized and said that part was not gonna come in. I said they need to tell my warranty company that so they can figure out something different. They said they would put the work order in and request the warranty company for that and that takes 48 hours. 48 hours rolled past. It was another week, so I called my warranty company.
I told them Sears said they were gonna contact them about my refrigerator and they said the part is on backorder. The lady put me on hold, called them, and they confirmed everything over the phone. Sears told them it couldn’t be fixed because they couldn’t get that part. The lady gets back on the phone with me and confirmed everything that I’ve already said a million times over. And we’ve already confirmed everything, that the refrigerator basically needs to be replaced. One guy said he would go ahead and put the order in to cash it out. I asked how long that takes, what does it say, and how much is that gonna be worth. He said he wasn't sure because that’s a different department. He said to give it 72 hours. This is the week before New Year’s. There was no callback.
I called again and got hung up on twice by both companies, Sears and American Home Shield. Finally spoke to somebody at Sears and spoke to five different people, still didn't get anything resolved. They were all still saying the same thing, “That part’s not available. There’s nothing we can do about it." I told them my warranty said they have to call them or send some type of report or somebody has to give them some documentation or something saying that the part is not back on and it can’t be repaired. Nobody did that. I spoke to someone finally again yesterday and she kinda feel like she wanted to help, but again, it’s still not fixed. It’s still not resolved.
My thing is if Home Shield sees one of their customers is having a problem with one of the companies they picked, then that’s gonna be on the customer to keep waiting until this company follows through on their end. Get another company out here to confirm the thing and let them tell Home Shield that. They’ll see they're not acting professionally and not doing their end. I’m very dissatisfied with this particular incident. But with the furnace claim, it was right on point. The company was good and everything was smooth.

I've had American Home Shield for about 20 years, and it's been six consecutive years now. I left for a while, and then I came back as it's good not to have to call somebody out of the yellow pages, being blind when something breaks in the home. IGD Plumbing came out recently and we had them do some plumbing work for us. The tech was very positive and he communicated all the work that he was doing, and he was very good and open. One of the things I asked him was about the faucet in the kitchen. We have a Moen and it's an expensive faucet, and he said that they probably wouldn’t replace that if it broke, but they would replace it with a more inexpensive type of faucet. He also told me things that I could do to keep things like that from happening again.

The interactions recently with American Home Shield have been great. We called them months ago and the contractor could not find any part numbers on our appliances. So, AHS wouldn’t cover it. This time, I went ahead and called again, and paid for another service call. The same guy came out on a a washer claim and I told him that he couldn't find the part number on the oven when he came out before. While he was there fixing my washer, I was able to put in a claim for my oven so, he not only fixed my washer quickly but he said he knew exactly which part it was for the oven. I gave him the part number and put it in on the computer. He called it in right there and he got the part. He did two separate calls and took care of everything. He was very knowledgeable, professional and I would trust him with my home any time. He was amazing and everything went great.
We have had American Home Shield for years on multiple homes. The first time we purchased a warranty was 1998. We loved it and it was awesome. Subsequent to that, not only did we have the insurance on that house up until we sold it last year, but we had it on my son’s house. We’ve recommended other people buy it and they bought it. We had it on another couple of houses and then on our new house that we purchased. I had been busy taking care of my dad who is chronically ill and living with us, so virtually, I put it on my new house, made some calls a little over a month after I put it on my new house and AHS accused us of committing insurance fraud. They said that these things must have been broken all along and we just got AHS and tried to call something in a month after just to bilk the company. It was upsetting.
This gentleman who came out and fixed my appliances was the one that called on the oven. He told us that AHS tried to get him to say that we were committing fraud and that it has been broken a long time. The reason they declined it was because Viking was notorious for having long numbers that are difficult to find. That’s well known and he said that he was younger so he hadn't had Viking experience. AHS got the pool guy that we called on the pool heater to say that it must have been broken for a long time. We didn't even know it was broken. I said that I have not used my oven nor my pool heater. We were getting ready to have a birthday party and so, I was gonna crank my pool heater on and I was gonna bake a cake in the oven.
I wouldn’t know if the pool and the appliance have been broken a long time, because the only reason I hadn't purchased the insurance yet was because we were trying to sell two other houses that had the insurance and I was trying to keep my cost down. My house is a relatively new house so, once I got rid of the house and wasn’t paying the insurance anymore, I would pick it up on my new house because we always have a warranty. So, we’ve been customers forever and we recommended AHS. We’ve had other things we could’ve submitted claims on and we didn't because I didn’t wanna be accused of insurance fraud. Finally, my husband said that we’ve lived without this long enough and to put in the claim. They sent the same gentleman and he was wonderful.
My husband was there when the technician was making the phone call the first time and he said AHS was giving him all kinds of crap. When he called in this time, the people were wonderful. They were super responsive and responded immediately to him. He didn't have to leave and call me back on either claim. AHS has sent out bad service people in the past, and when I called them, they said that they were not gonna use those people anymore. They were unethical. Our experience with AHS, other than last year, has always been exceptional. So, we were thrilled to have the same service we’ve had since 1998 this past time. It was really what we’ve come to expect. I could hear the AHS people responding to him and they bend over backwards. It was great.

I made a claim last week and Arizona TradeMasters came out to fix my HVAC system. They were excellent, very polite, and very professional. They did what they needed to do and they were gone. My realtor bought the American Home Shield and I have had used them four times. They have been very good and accommodating. At the end of the year when it's time to renew, I will definitely renew.

My washing machine was making a loud noise when it was on the spin cycle. I called in a claim with AHS and I did the phone prompt. They gave me the name of the contractor, Bennett Appliance Repair, and said they would call me. The techs turned out to be very good. They were on time, friendly, and professional. They fixed the problem and everything has been performing well since the repair.

AHS's copay of 100 bucks is high. Also if you call in two issues at the same time, they ought to give you a discount. However, my most recent claim experience with them went well. When my dryer's igniter stopped working one afternoon, the first person AHS hooked me up with was not able to do the repair for two weeks. My grandkids were coming over and I needed a dryer so I called Highland. They said they had a guy in the area that day and if I get approval, they could send him over in the afternoon. I called AHS and said that Highland had a guy in the area. AHS reached out to Highland, and within a couple of hours, the guy was at the house. AHS said that they’d send the stuff over immediately to Highland and they did. The part took about five days. Moreover, the guy from Highland knew what he was doing.

The AHS rep was nice when I submitted a claim for a leaking sink in a powder room. I submitted the claim on Saturday, but Five Brothers only came on Monday. It was a super leak and I did not like waiting that long. The tech was very nice though and it took less than 40 minutes to get everything fixed

I had a heating issue and American Home Shield sent Central Heating & Air Conditioning out. The experience went good. The gentleman that did the service nailed it, and he’s done different things there before. I had put on there heating and air, and I know he was in a hurry at the time. I know that there’s a 60-day guarantee, but he didn’t check the heat on that like I was asking. But I know the heat would be coming on pretty soon, so so far, so good.
Overall, AHS does a great job. I know that I’ll always gonna have a problem with waiting, but most of the time, they’re pretty quick as far as the process of submitting claims goes. I don’t know if they treat everybody the same as far as the contractors cause I know like for plumbing, you have to respond in 48 hours. I don’t know if heating and air does not, but one time, it took them quite a bit longer on the heating and air. I just assumed that the guidelines are not fogged.

When I had just submitted my claim, AHS had somebody scheduled to come out right away. One of the three recessed lights in the kitchen would come on and then the other would go out. It would alternate between the three different cans where one light was gonna be on, and then sometimes they’d all be off. The contractor was definitely knowledgeable about the product and gave me good information about the length and how long it would last. So far, I’m really happy with AHS.

Speaking to American Home Shield's customer service is fine. But getting to them might be harder. You can wait and wait and wait for somebody to pick up. There's some kind of a holding pattern. So the follow-up where you have to speak to a person is somewhat delayed and frustrating. Recently the contractor from GE Appliances got here and we had to wait for the part. There was an issue with FedEx last Christmas so the part took a while to get here. It was supposed to be a day or two, and ended up being five days before he could come back out and put the part in. Also the claim generally is just an online process, and that part goes smoothly. But sometimes it seems to hang up a little bit somewhere along the line. It happened when I had a washing machine replaced that they couldn't fix. But other than that, it's pretty good. The contractors they've sent were very good.

We had a heating issue and when we submitted a claim with AHS, they sent out Coastal Comfort Solutions. I saw on their van that they're a veterans company and I like that. The techs were nice as well and I was happy with the service. Other than that, it'd be nice to have the same vendors. We always get different people, but I understand. Also, we have AHS for six years now and this will be our last year with them because our systems keep getting fixed and fixed. We really need them replaced. But I would come back to AHS if I ever needed another home warranty.

The technician from Superior Garage Doors did a great job. My husband was out there with him and it didn't take him long at all. He had to replace the little sensors down at the bottom. There was something that had to be replaced up at the top, the big unit. It was excellent. We've been with AHS for four years now and they’ve done a good job for us. We’ve had very good luck with them. So far, we’ve been very pleased with the contractors that they use. I only had one I got aggravated with a couple of years ago, it was another electrical. And it was on the fuse, that thing you push. I hadn't pushed it hard enough and he made me feel really stupid, which I’m not, but I’m not electrical. It was just his attitude. But other than that, they’ve all been very nice.

AHS' contractor came out for my oven and they were great. The guy looked at it and he knew what was wrong with it right away. They had to order a part, and then they came and fixed it. I’m not good at picking repair people, so I like that AHS has people who are licensed that they can send out. Also, I know exactly what I’m going to put out and that I’m not going to have to come out of pocket for a huge repair. AHS doesn't cover Freon, though, and it’s a big expense. Some of the other home warranty companies now are covering Freon.

We had an inspection come out to the house, so the cover was not put back in the panel. First, it was exposed, and second, we wanna make sure everything was functioning properly, that it wasn’t broken. The AHS reps I spoke with when I called to file a claim were good. We’ve been having them for a while. It was a holiday weekend and because of all the holidays going on, it took three days to send somebody out. The guy from Advanced Home Services came out to install the cover to the panel that’s up in the attic and he was great. I've had other claims with American Home Shield and they went good. But because of the holidays, the plumbing part took a while. So today, they’re coming out here to finish up what they had to do.

I submitted a claim for my garage door and the process was very easy. I was told that a contractor will be calling me within a day or so, but Sam’s Garage Doors called me in less than four hours as a matter of fact. The repair person who came out was very professional and he appeared knowledgeable as to what was going on. It took him little or no time to repair the problem and he even gave me some tips on my garage door opener itself. It was excellent. I’ve had American Home Shield for a couple of years now and I’m happy. So far, so good. I’ve even made several referrals already.

JT Services came out to check the refrigerator and it was something about the compressor going so it's not working. The technician was very good, on time, very professional, and knew exactly what he was doing. Then I got a message that they were gonna replace the refrigerator, so I have to do a measurement and get it back to them.

Originally, when I bought the house AHS came with it, and I’ve still been using it until now. I wouldn’t go to anybody else. It’s great. Recently Robert Branthoover Electrical Services came out, and the claim went fairly well. I’ve turned the dishwasher on real quick just to see if it works, and it turns on. They sent the same guy that came by and fixed the electrical issues with my switches. He does a great job.

I called Home Shield and the customer service representatives were nice. After submitting the claim, somebody from Plumbers Inc. was quick to come out to clear the drains. He was cool, informative, and a good guy. He also helped me understand the problem with this type of building and all the issues. This is my first claim with Home Shield and they have got a nice price on it, so I’ll just keep it going. I’m big on insurance, and I have another home warranty and my last interaction with them was off, so I’m using Home Shield now. I even bought my sister a policy from them.

A bunch of problems had happened and I originally had the Sears people out. But I didn't really like the Sears guy. In fact, I don't ever want to see the Sears repair people again. He came out on the washer in the garage, which is an older unit. I’ve had it for probably 15 years and it's a dual Maytag front load, a washer and dryer combo. I wash my dog crate's blankets out there so when the Sears guy opened the door, there was some hair in the door but not much. I wipe it off once in a while and his comment was that was why it was leaking. He cleaned it off, did a couple of other things he was checking and then said it doesn't leak.
Well, the reason it wasn't leaking was because that washer is only leaking on stage three of the rinse. It is not leaking at the beginning of any cycle and it was in the rinse cycle. But he left and said he had fixed the problem. He didn't fix the problem though, because once it got to the rinse cycle, it was leaking still. Eventually, the problem was not just that it was leaking. It was not spinning right as well. So that's part of the reason it was leaking. But he had an arrogant attitude like, "Oh, you stupid woman, don't you know to clean your hair off the door?" He shouldn't give me that stuff. I'm an educated person. I know that was not why the washer was leaking. That's why I didn't like the Sears guy. He obviously didn't wanna go further and figure it out.
The Sears guy also originally looked at my dishwasher when it was broken. He put some part in which lasted one cycle and then the dishwasher stopped working again. So I called American Home Shield and I said it needed a repeat visit. I asked them to send Oliver from Precision Appliance and not to send the Sears guy again. So Oliver came out and looked at the dishwasher. There was a different little part that was needed. He put that in and the dishwasher has worked ever since. He also ended up fixing the oven problem. Oliver fixed both of the things that the Sears guy had come out a couple of times for and didn't get fixed. Oliver couldn't fix the washer in the garage though. American Home Shield has to replace it. But I like Oliver a lot. He's conscientious. He seems to know what he was doing, seems to be well-experienced and is very pleasant to deal with.
On top of those, on the first visit that the Sears guy ever came, he gave me a brochure to leave American Home Shield and sign up with the Sears Home Warranty. They were more expensive than American Home Shield. But that's who he works for. He works for Sears. I started with American Home Shield in 2014 with my Las Vegas rentals. My property manager over there actually doesn't like American Home Shield. She would prefer I change but I haven't and this is one of the things I tell people all the time – you don't flip insurance companies just because you can save a few bucks on a premium. What you want is a long-term relationship with the insurance company. I feel the same way with warranty. Besides, American Home Shield hasn't pissed me off to that point.
Right now, as soon as I get the replacement washer in the garage, I'll be happy. I wasn't happy with what they offered me and I emailed them back because I have a front loader, not a top loader. A top loader is more difficult when they're a stacked unit. They said I'm allowed up to so much money and that I could basically find one myself. But I really was hoping that they would offer me one that was equivalent which is a front loader.

Our thermostat was turning on and going to the highest temperature possible, which is a problem when it’s 85 degrees in the house. It was nice but it was too warm. I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim. I did the automated piece, and I got an immediate phone call back. I was told that within 24 hours, we’d hear something from the contractor. Cool Factor came out and they were awesome. The guy was very friendly. He told me what was going on after he looked at it and gave some suggestions to keep the system in better operating status going forward too just because it was an older system. He was very professional. He replaced the thermostat, and everything's working. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been good. I’ve used them for a while, and then I stopped using them for a period of time, but then I came back.

I have a high efficiency front loader which started to sound like a jet engine when it ran. I called Home Shield, they sent someone out immediately, and the tech diagnosed that it was a bearing and the engine had to be rebuilt or replaced. They got approval from American Home Shield and they ordered the part. My laundry room is off my family room and I have hardwood floors. They brought in materials and were careful not to damage the furniture of the floors. They cleaned everything when they left. They were on time, they were professional and they covered their feet when they came in. It was done within two weeks, they did a fabulous job and it's running great now. It takes time to order parts, and this was right before Thanksgiving so I was very grateful that they got it done.

Most of the time, they're able to fix it. I had a recent claim and it went real well. The tech was very good. He was able to answer some of the questions I needed answered. We go online at American Home Shield to make claims and it's easy. ARRQ came out to fix the dryer, and they were not able to fix it since it was too old so they replaced it. They were amazing. They took their garbage with them and cleaned up every mess they made when they were installing the new dryer.

I had a heating claim that I filed to American Home Shield. They sent Service Pro Heating and Air, but they didn't do anything. They looked at it, said the switch was set wrong, flipped the switch, and then left. But it still blows cold air. It has been a week since they came out. That was their second time already and the last time because I’ve gotten somebody else. I’m just waiting for them to call me back.

When the garbage disposal would not turn, AHS sent F6 Plumbing out. The tech took about one minute to fix it, which made me feel like an idiot. He just stuck that little tool on the bottom, gave it a little twist, and life is good again.

There was a time when our microwave was acting up. We put in a claim to American Home Shield that it needs a fix. A contractor came and checked our microwave. He ordered a board for it and when that came in, he came back out and put it in. However, that didn't fix the problem. He was then gonna order all the circuit boards but then AHS said they were not gonna do that. They decided to replace the unit and that was ordered.
We wanted something like the microwave that we had and we wanted the replacement to match our other appliances. We got a list from AHS of the microwave companies I could order from. If we didn't like any of them, we could order our own and they would give us a certain amount of money. We found a GE Profile on the list that was the right size. AHS told us to contact Mr. Appliance when the replacement comes in. We did and they came to install it. It works perfectly. It would have been nicer if some of this stuff would happen a little faster, but for overall satisfaction, we are very pleased with AHS. I recommend homeowners to have a home warranty policy and I would recommend American Home Shield. I’m very happy with them.

We've been with American Home Shield for at least 10 years now and it feels safe to have the coverage in case of any issue. For appliance issues, they tend to send out Airboss Mechanical first, but we don’t want them. We have dealt with that company and we’ve asked American Home Shield to not send them out again. We prefer Mr. Fix It. We had them for our most recent claim and they made an appointment for us pretty quickly. They came out when they said that they would. They were professional and had the issue resolved quickly.

With the problems that I have had, it has taken American Home Shield no more than 48 hours to have somebody on location. They back us up if we need it, and it’s very reassuring and nice to have that protection. Recently, I wasn’t happy with the first phone call when the contractor company called me and said, “We service Ardmore, but we don’t service Lone Grove.” It’s a three-minute drive. But the people from Texoma who came out and serviced me did a great job and I was very happy with it. They were professional and answered all of my questions. The only problem that was there was the sound I was hearing. It's something that occurs often and I was not aware of that. But it’s still in working condition.

I bought my house on September 27th and I’m under warranty with Home Shield. There were leaks in the ceiling from what I think are hot water pipes and so DNB Plumbing came out. There were two leaks and I’m not sure exactly what the plumber did to get them to stop, but they’re fixed. It didn’t take that long and he did a good job. The leak damaged my whole ceiling so I have to call a contractor to fix the ceiling now because, obviously, a plumber can’t fix that.

The guy from GM Appliance Services who came out and did the oven was extremely knowledgeable about what he was doing, very efficient and very fast. It was a quick and easy process. He showed me what was damaged and that he had taken out the element, put in the element in. He even turned the stove on, waited for it to get warm so that I could see that it was working. And since then, I’ve used my oven and it’s working perfectly. GM Appliance was excellent. They did a great job with the oven.
I’m just coming back to American Home Shield. I was with them 10 years back and I was with them for two years. I dropped them because of the service, which I’m done with them now again. I just can’t deal with service that is not what it should be. If I’m asking for a service and I’m paying for the service to be done, my expectation is that the service will be done when the service should be done. I did not get that at all, especially when it comes to now, my dryer. I’m just going through too much right now with my dryer and it’s a major inconvenience from the time when I first called to ask for my dryer to be looked at. GM Appliance came out and said, “All right. We gotta order the part for the dryer.” They went back to order the part, but the part was unavailable and they moved off of it.
Cathy, the AHS rep that I just got off the phone with was way above the top of her game with this today. She even made me feel a little better and made me laugh because I'm pissed off. I’m just confused about how all of it is working, but I know when I spoke to Joe on the 26th, he said, “Okay. They’re gonna dispose of your old unit and bring in a new unit." It was supposed to happen that day, but that didn’t happen. So now, I’m without a new dryer and I gotta wait more time for a new dryer to come in.
It has been a major inconvenience from the very first time back in October when I first called in regards to this issue and I feel like I’m getting the runaround. And in regards to it, nobody wants to do their job, nothing is gonna be done until whenever they feel like they’re gonna do it. I don’t understand what’s going on. So now, I’m waiting and I’m being inconvenienced. I gotta go to the laundry because I called my warranty company and they can’t make it happen. I need a warranty in my house, but if American Home Shield is not gonna do it for me, then I’m gonna try a different warranty company.
In addition, I had issues already with American Home Shield from the beginning and I should have cancelled it because when I signed up with them, I was supposed to get a $75 discount. I contacted them multiple times via email and I never got a response. I just kept going and the payments just keep coming. So, I probably will not renew with American Home Shield ever again. I can't deal with it. I want people to understand what they’re getting into before they get into it.

Sometimes, submitting claims online to AHS is easier than going by phone. I submitted one for the heating system in my house. They sent Advanced Air Services and within 24 hours Advanced Air was here. The tech was great and now the heating system is performing very well.

Based on my research, everybody recommended to go with the American Home Shield. And other than that, the reviews on the internet were very good. That’s why I selected AHS. Sometimes you can have the right contractors. For example, Mr. Appliance of Stevensville is a very good contractor. Sometimes, they send me the worst contractors. Some lack product knowledge. When that happens, I go to the Home Shield website and try to talk with their customer service center they use to give the feedback.
I raised the request on home appliance some time back, Mr. Appliance came and did very well. Unlike recently when I had a dishwasher issue, when I raised the request, American Home Shield sent me Oakland Appliances Repair but those guys were terrible. They were not able to identify the issue. I can tell they were not that good. I was really frustrated and I was supposed to cancel American Home Shield. They changed the supplier to Mr. Appliance and they came and fixed it. They did very well. So, Mr. Appliance was the right supplier for them. I don’t know why they changed the suppliers to different guys and they irritate the consumers.

I had a furnace claim and I was having a problem with the heating system. It's a rather large home and we have dampers on the heating system. And we had a problem with the dampers. They had to come out a couple of times before it really got taken care of. But I was very happy with the repairman that came. It was sort of a challenge to him to figure out what was going on, but he was very courteous and professional in how he handled himself, and so, I was very pleased with everything. Since the repair, the system is working fine now.
I just sold one of my homes and I had AHS at that house for 11 years. I was always very happy with the service I received. And then, I got coverage on my primary residence and I've had the coverage on this for about three years. I've never really had any problems with American Home Shield, from the time I pick up the phone and say there's a problem to getting it resolved.

The first time that the contractor came out, they did a great job. The technician immediately smelled an electrical burning smell and he immediately determined what the problem was. It was a board on the back of the oven and he said that we needed to replace the board. I said okay and he put in for the board. They came back a couple of days later and replaced it. He turned the clock on and I realized that after he left, that he didn’t turn the oven on. I didn’t need to use the oven for another day or two and when I used it, I smelled plastic burning. So, I called my uncle and asked him what was going on. He said to give it a couple of days, a couple of times using it and maybe it’ll go away because the technician put in a new part. So, I let a couple of days go, a couple of times and then using it, and the smell would never go away.
I called the contractor back and I told the owner that I was smelling a different smell now. He said that was normal. I said it couldn’t be because I never smelled this before. He said he was looking at the ticket and he said that the tech tested it. I said that he did not test it. He turned the clock on and that was all he did. He told me I had to call American Home Shield back and get them back out. I was very upset. I’m a new customer so I thought I was gonna have to pay more money to get somebody back out. So, I called AHS back and they said that it was a recall, so they would get them to come back out.
The contractor came back out last Friday but it was another guy and he said that it was a normal smell. I said it wasn’t. He pulled the oven out, unplugged it, used his flashlight and he said he saw another issue. He looked at another board. There are three boards back there. Another board was completely burned and it had charred the back of my oven. He showed it to me. I asked him if the other technician should have seen it and he said yes. Then, he did some more looking in and he looked further down where the power cord was. It was completely burnt off where it connects to the oven and he said that he knew it was completely burnt off because the screw was completely turned a completely different direction. I asked if the other technician didn’t see these two issues and he said no.
He said they could correct the issue. They could get the items in and they just have to order these two parts. I asked him if I was not gonna have an oven again. He said yes and that it was so bad that he didn’t even feel comfortable plugging it back in. I could’ve had a bad fire with it. He said that when he comes out, he normally not only looks at the first issue but does a complete research of the entire issue. I asked if he was gonna be the one to come back. He said that the supervisor sets up a schedule of who’s gonna do what on the day when the parts come out. I asked who the supervisor was and he said that the first tech who came out was the supervisor. I said that I was gonna pray that he would be the one who was gonna come back out. In 7 to 10 working days, they should get the part in and they should get us back up and running.
That was last Friday and I called them either yesterday or today, and I asked them to get an update because I don’t have an oven. They said that they were still waiting on one part and they didn’t haven't an ETA as to when it’s coming in. So, I'm still waiting. I haven't heard since that conversation. When I was talking with the second tech, he said he understood the first tech who was going through quite a bit. I told him that I understood but this is my livelihood and my home. They should’ve sent someone else out if he was going through things because it could have been a terrible situation.
It has been a year or so when everybody has been saying that I should get American Home Shield. I said that I was gonna get it but I never did. Something told me that I needed to sign up for this plan and I did. I went ahead and signed up. It has been a blessing and it has been an experience. The contractor came out, and recognized and saw exactly what was going on but things could’ve turned out differently.

It took 2 summers and at least 7 visits from a technician before AHS finally agreed to let me get a new A/C unit. Even then, my tiny little unit cost me $3,000 out of pocket. They do not like to fix a problem, they do the absolute minimum possible so that you have to keep paying someone to come back out. This past May our water heater finally gave out and leaked water everywhere. Of course we discovered it at 5:30pm on a Friday night. AHS only called 1 company and left messages. For the next hour or two I was on the phone explaining to them that it was an emergency and we could not go all weekend without water so we needed to find a contractor that had emergency hours. I found TWO that were local and said they could come that night. But AHS refused to call anyone else. I waited 3 hours then finally went and bought a water heater myself.
I told the overseas clueless operator that I needed to go buy one before the store closed because it had to be fixed tonight. She said that was ok and they would reimburse me if I kept the receipt. Short version is, I have my new water heater, but they are refusing to pay the claim even though I followed all of their instructions. In addition, they offer no information at all on the website on how to cancel your policy. And if you cancel your policy, you cant make a claim. So I am now out $600 for a water heater and another $420 in monthly premiums for the 7 months Ive been trying to process this claim. The entire company is a scam. Read the reviews. Thousands have had similar problems. AHS should be outlawed.

We decided to get AHS because we just bought this house and it had used appliances in it. And in the past, I’ve had AHS on a couple of homes and I never had any problem with them. Our recent claim was for a leaking dishwasher. I submitted a claim online to AHS and I had no problem navigating through their website. The service provided by the contractors was excellent, as well.

Myers Plumbing came out a month ago and they did a good job. One of the tubs where the water was backed up in it, it wouldn’t go down. The contractor took out the works, cleared and cleaned it, put it back, and then it was fine. The contractor fixed whatever I showed him we needed fixing. On our gas furnace, however, the first contractor came out six times and he could not fix anything. They kept sending the same people and we figured they did not know what they were doing. So, finally, Chesapeake Comfort Systems came out and they said, “Okay.” When I submit claims to American Home Shield, I usually call. The reps have been okay.

Gurney J. Bush Inc. came out for a plumbing issue and they were great. The guy got the stoppage out, but he said that it was not the origin of the problem. He said that a plumber needs to come in and really fix it. I've been waiting for an authorization to go through, and I have not heard back from American Home Shield about an actual plumber coming out.
The claim for the refrigerator was a disaster. The freezer was working but the refrigerator wasn't, and I called approximately on the 8th of December and American Home Shield couldn't get someone out till that Friday, which was okay. That Friday, the guy got sick so they called and cancelled. They couldn't come out till the following Friday. We were like, "No, we need something sooner than that." So they got someone to come out that Monday. He replaced one part, but that didn't fix it. He didn't have the other part, so he ordered it and came back. But the part that he ordered wasn't the problem 'cause it still didn't work. The other part, which is a circuit board, can only be worked on by LG certified people. So, we had to reschedule someone to come out.
Through the Christmas holidays, I didn't get a confirmation that they were coming. That morning, I called and said, "Are you guys coming on the 27th this morning?" "Yes, you're scheduled from 8:00 to 12:00." "Great." No one shows. Long story short, it was cancelled and I don't know who cancelled it. So then, we had to wait another week. They came out yesterday and the guy looked at it, and he ordered the part. This started on December 8th, and we're now not getting it fixed. We are not happy at all, to the point where we might change who we do this with. Through the delay, I don't think we should be charged. The two cancellations were not our fault.

You can’t beat American Home Shield at all as far as what you get for what you pay for. I've hit everything that I have coverage on. Everybody has done an excellent job and I’ve never had any problems with the professionals affiliated with AHS. I really appreciate them going out of the way to get top-notch professionals. Everything went well with my most recent claim. The guys from A.R.T. Heating & Air Conditioning were incredible. They were very knowledgeable, helpful, determined and detailed in their work. They did a very good job of troubleshooting the situation. The source of the problem was a number of things and they were able to figure things out quickly. Moreover, they stayed on it until they got it resolved.

My most recent claim experience was with Total Air Care for the compressor outside that wasn't kicking on. It seemed like the heater strips inside weren't functioning. We got it all worked out and the contractor tested the strips inside. They in fact were okay. It just takes a while for them to get hot and I wasn't aware of that. But outside, the compressor capacitor was dead. He had one in his truck so he didn't have to come back out later. He did a very good job and everything is going very well now.

The technician from East Texas Plumbing Co. put a 40 gallon in, and our tank was a 50 gallon. I called them yesterday and they said that he wrote up a ticket for a 40. I'm missing the 10 gallons. So, my dad was out here whenever he was doing all of this stuff, and my dad thinks he wrote up a 40 because it was easier on him, because of the tight space that was in. American Home Shield is supposed to be looking into it and talking to him to see if I can get a 50. I don't have a picture of the old water tank that he took. I have a second water heater here that's identical to the one that he took, so I can send them that picture.

Universal 1 Repair was able to get everything done, but I'm getting them to come back out because it has supposedly fixed what they fixed but they're doing the same thing that it was doing before. For some reason, I'm getting water in the fridge. They said it was a hole, so they switched the holes. That might have been part of it because I didn't see water for a little bit, but I'm seeing water again. So, it's probably something else. I called American Home Shield for the contractor to come back out. AHS called them and they would come out sometime next week.

The only problem I had was when I had a guy come out to fix my sink. He came twice to fix it, and the third time, he spent a lot time fixing it. It's fixed, but it stinks under the sink now and I don't know what to do about that. I don't wanna keep calling the same guy out. But everybody else has been great.

I totally love American Home Shield. I've kept them the whole time I've owned the house since 2002 and I have definitely recommended them to people because I've never had any issues. Anytime I've needed them, all was well. So, I'm completely happy. They hooked me up with May Heating & Air who did the maintenance and are now my future HVAC people. Everything was great.

I submitted a claim to AHS because my toilets and garbage disposal were not working. However, I literally had to fight with AHS to get everything fixed because they were denying it. They were not trying to fix it until I reached the area manager. She was the one who helped me out. But my toilets are still not working and the guy they sent earlier was not at all qualified. I didn't reach to them because I wasn't having that much stamina to fight with them again and again for small things. So, I'm thinking that I'm gonna switch my company for the warranty. Since the beginning, I'm having so many problems. I'm not gonna refer AHS to any of my clients in the future.

Having AHS was something our Realtor really recommended, and we didn’t have a lot of experience with. And so, we went with the recommendation. And it has turned out really great. Submitting a claim was really great. I went to the website, I filled out the form and somebody contacted me within 24 hours. I felt really lucky. It was over the holidays that things started falling apart. We have young kids so everything was a disaster. And between the warranty and the appliance, all that stuff just went as well as we could expect.
The contractors are doing a great job. It’s still ongoing. They just had to order a part and ‘cause of the holidays it took a little longer than they expected to get in. So we’re waiting on a part. But they have been absolutely great. Communicating with them has been super easy. We can set up timing via email, which is nice, and then they give us a call right beforehand. They’ve always hit their time targets. They’ve been in and out of our house really quickly. They’ll explain everything they’re doing to me. I can’t think of a way that they could have done better.

I had AHS' contractors come out for my disposal. The first guy said it was broken and gone. He said he has to make a report and that he doesn't know if it will be changed or I would have to pay. I told him to make his report but I don't want to pay anything. And they never came back. My daughter called and another guy came out, who fixed the problem within two minutes. It was some button and he pushed it, and it was done. He's smart and he knows his job, and it was so clean. It was an amazing experience.

We've had AHS ever since we moved about three years now. So far they're really good. We turn in a report and they get somebody to contact us within the timeframe they give, and people are out in a timely manner. They work with us on the appointment time. I had an appliance issue and my claim went real smooth. The contractors were out pretty quick, but we noticed the other day that we still have a leak. With the holidays, I forgot to call him back and see if they would come back out. When we opened the door to pull the ice bucket out there was water. It froze on the outside. Nevertheless, I was real happy with the contractor's professionalism. He explained exactly what was going on and showed me as he was going through everything.
