    My claim with AHS for an appliance issue went very well. I was really happy with the gentleman from Sears. He was a nice man and he informed us right away that the problem was the safety feature in our stove. We had the brochure on it and we read it but we did not see that safety feature. I was very satisfied because it was Thanksgiving time and my stove had gone out, and all it was was a matter of knowing how to reset it and it wasn't in the literature that we had. It had like a child lock on it and we weren't aware of that. And it has never happened before in the stove. But he explained to us that that was all that was, and he just reset it, and everything was fine. He resolved the problem in two and a half seconds. We've had our AHS warranty for 35 years. It's a good security feeling to know that we have a back-up plan if we can't repair something or take care of an issue ourselves.

    My heat wasn't working so I submitted a request over the phone and the representative took the information. Jazz Aire called me immediately and came right out. They were excellent and everything was repaired the same day. However, I have found American Home Shield not to be the best. I'm also considering not renewing the contract. I had an issue with my refrigerator and they couldn't locate the part that they wanted to get, so they had to take my refrigerator down for 2 or three 3 weeks. Of course, one can't do without a refrigerator. And instead of offering me a new refrigerator which I'm supposed to have repaired or replaced, AHS offered me $300.

    Also, I had an issue with my air conditioner last year and it was not the contractor's fault as it was American Home Shield's fault. They sent out first the part to the wrong vendor, then they sent out the wrong part and I was down for over a month. I was with no air conditioning at 100-degree heat and I'm 72 years old. So, I wasn't too happy with that. I finally asked the vendor to find the part, which was a compressor, outside of them. He got it that same day and installed it, and I paid directly for the part, and AHS finally reimbursed me but after giving me a scolding for having done that.

    There was a time when I had an issue with my garbage disposal. It wouldn't power up or spin. I called in a claim to AHS and asked them if there was any warranty on it. They explained that the warranty on it was only for three months. They sent Loftis Home Improvements and within 24 hours, they contacted me to set up an appointment. When they came, they found that my wife had a teaspoon that was wedged in the disposal. They fished it out, mangled up and afterward, the disposal worked. I found them to be one of the best plumbers that I've ever had come out to my house. I'm very happy with them.

    SWAT Plumbing showed up when they said they were gonna be here. Once they got here, they assessed the situation and took care of it in a timely fashion. We also discussed the issue.     We contacted American Home Shield and they contacted the contractor. From then on, it was between us and the contractor, so it all worked out smoothly. There was a little bit of confusion on some of the parts for the master bedroom spa but it got fixed and I was satisfied. I’m happy that it's working now. The technician was very nice and helped us out. He was in contact with us and let us know that the part was on the way or if there were any delays, so it was good. He explained what was wrong, checked everything out and made sure everything was in working order 100% before he left.

    We submitted another claim for my outdoor spa and it was the same thing. The contractor came and identified the problem, fixed it, and I had no complaints. That was fixed quicker. This one was a little bit different because they had to cut out a piece of the wall in the house and did a little bit more steps but it was perfectly fine. It was a straightforward fix, so I didn't have to jump through any hoops except for the parts but it was just a unique type of system and it all worked out.

    1st American Plumbing repaired my problem and the guy was very professional. He showed me exactly what was going on before he repaired it and he resolved it in about 30 minutes. I was very satisfied with the time frame but I’ve had problems with it before. I have had the home warranty for almost 20 years and I’ve been satisfied up until this year. I’ve had some incidents this year that I wasn’t too pleased about. Prior to that, everything has been acceptable. They could improve on the scheduling. When I have an emergency situation, they could work with me and try to get contractors that work on the weekend or after hours.

    It was very easy to submit a claim. The contractors have been great. Everything went really well with our dishwasher claim. The contractor came out and fixed it right away and left. For our refrigerator claim, the only problem was that it seemed like it took forever for them to be able to come out and take a look at it and do the repair. They weren’t able to fix it. We had to wait for the part, and then they couldn’t come out for another week. That kinda sucked. Yesterday was when they finally fixed it. We were out of fridge for probably three weeks. It would have been nice to have a faster service. Other than that, they were professional when they came.

    I had a leak in my hot water heater. There was a little puddle of water outside so I called a plumber and then realized I have AHS. So then I called Home Shield and they hooked me up with ASAP Plumbing. The only problem was it took four days for them to come fix it. I joked with the guy, “Hey, if you’re As Soon as Possible, why did it take you four days to get here?” He answered, "Normally, we would come right away the next day, but you happened to catch us right at New Year’s.” But once he came it only took him 30 minutes to fix the heater, and he was gone. It was quick. He knew exactly what it was. I was very satisfied.

    I'd call AHS and tell them what was wrong and they would get somebody to come out and repair it. They sent out Lake Area for the dryer and I was kinda upset because they had to get the part. It took a week, but other than that, everything was fine.

    I've had American Home Shield for 16 years and every time I've called them, they come. Their electricians have to be prepared and they have to bring a ladder for work. With my plumbing claim, everything went fine. The guy from Gatorsburg Plumbing came in and did what he was supposed to do. Then he cleaned up and he left.

    I've been with AHS for four years, but before Katrina, I was with them for 20 years. I like the idea that when I call them, they already have a list of companies to choose from and that they have already checked the companies out. Over the years, I’ve mostly had good contractors and some bad ones. Most of the time, my complaint is that they don’t come out or they may not come out soon enough. But lately, I’ve been getting appointments within the week. However, it sometimes takes a little while to get the part in. And a couple of times, I had a problem where they were waiting on the contractor to submit the paperwork to them.

    In the past, I have a credit card on file but they did not charge you until the contractor came out. But lately, I’ve run into the problem where they wanna charge my card as soon as I call in for the service request. That should not be done because I haven’t gotten service from anyone yet. For instance, if they charge you and you don’t need the service, then you have to wait for about 7 days for them to do a refund to your card. Or sometimes, they might assign you someone who can’t come out and you gotta call them back to get another person.

    I’ve had a time when they assigned me to one company, but that company had never contacted me. I wanted to be assigned to someone else, but they said they had to wait and contact that company to see what was the problem. Their policy is that someone will call in 24 to 48 hours to set up an appointment. So, if I haven’t heard from anyone, then I shouldn’t have to wait for them. Maybe that company is too busy and they haven’t notified AHS that they can’t take a call. AHS needs to just give me whoever is second in line or available. Other than that, I’ve had good service and experience with them overall.

    Submitting claims to AHS has been straightforward. However, there was a time when I had a problem with my dishwasher and it was a nightmare. The contractor AHS sent didn't have an idea. More recently, our garage door stopped working and we submitted a claim to AHS. They sent Ace’s Garage Door Repair and Installation out and the tech who came had good knowledge. He had the right idea what was going on. There was an issue with the motherboard and he explained that to me that he had to order a part and that the repair was gonna take some time. He called me back like he promised, came back and fixed it. He was very professional and I was quite happy with him. Everything went smoothly.

    I wasn't very happy with my heating claim. As soon as the heater got to its temperature, instead of recycling and turning back on to get to the same degree that we set it, it wouldn’t go back on. The guy from Everyday Heating had to come out three times and was rude. He was cocky with me and we had a few words. When we were in the basement and I started talking to him, he said, “This is gonna take a little bit. You don’t have to stand over me.” Although I went along with him, I thought that this is my house and I’ll stand wherever I want. He was here for only 10 minutes and out the door, he went. I sat here for another three days without heat, to get him back. When he came back in, he said that we gotta do this and that. I said that I didn't care what he had to do, just get some heat back in the house.

    He got it up and running, and was right out the door again. I asked him why he doesn't stay to watch it go on and off. He said that it would take too long and that he had other things to do. It wasn’t really the words. He was just out the door and didn’t wanna waste any time. That’s what you’re here for, to fix my heater. Then when he came back the third time, he was with his kid, which I didn’t appreciate. He came down and got really loud with me. I told him straight up that if he wanted to bump heads, that was fine with me because I’m not gonna take his crap. My heat is down and I’m paying for the repair. I want it done. I was just glad to get him out the door.

    I was standing way behind him but I was watching him and the issue looked like it was a loose wire. Nothing was done about it though. He just jiggled a bunch of wires, and then it was working. So it was a loose wire or something, but he still didn’t determine which one it was. I wouldn’t use Everyday Heating again. I was on the internet and I was looking at some of the reviews. The same thing came up. Others said the guy was rude and loud. He got it working, but it wasn’t a professional job as far as I'm concerned. Then, on top of it all, I’m the bedroom with a space heater because I was sick as a dog, which I mentioned that to him a couple of times. I'm really disappointed and I don’t think I'm gonna use AHS again. I figured, if I'm paying for something, I should get some good help. If you're gonna have people, get somebody that's a little more reputable. Everyday Heating hasn’t even been in business for a year.

    PLM Appliance has been here for four times on the same issues with the refrigerator. I need to talk to somebody, but I am not sure how to do it because every time I have called, I only end up talking to somebody who says, "Yes. We'll have PLM Appliance come out." Those guys were good and they did a nice job, but they couldn't solve this problem and they have worked on it for three months already. They are hamstrung because they've tried everything they can try and it's not solving the problem.

    The last conversation I had with the contractor about that was when the unit stopped making ice again and the freezer was intermittent. They said, "We had a conversation with American Home Shield and we think the only thing it can be is this water valve. That's the last thing we could change." So that was what was changed on Monday of this week and it is now Thursday, but it has not made any ice. What irritates me a little more is that Donny, the repairman, when he was here, he said that we would have their office call tomorrow and make sure everything was working. But, I haven't heard from them either.

    This refrigerator has been a mess. When we built the house six years ago, it was brand-new. And KitchenAid, within the first year of its time, came out and did a compressor change because they said that the model had a compressor issue. And up until all this other stuff started going on six months ago, it has been okay. But now, the contractor have changed everything they could change and it is still what it was.

    My son is an executive at Lowe's, and I asked him which warranty company we should pick and he said, "Well, I'd pick American Home Shield." They've been very good and very helpful, and this has been the only issue we've got. But it has been continual since the first time I reported it. AHS said when I bought the service, if they attempt to repair it and it doesn't get repaired, they will replace it. They, however, are taking too long to make a decision. We can't replace anything else on this refrigerator. The one criticism I do have of AHS is there doesn't seem to be any way, when you call their customer service people, to do anything other than schedule service -- or at least not that I found. You got to file another claim. It's getting a little tad irritating. We've already paid for more than 35% of the refrigerator in service calls.

    American Home Shield has been wonderful. I was with them for 10 years. I left them, and I came back like two years ago. They have been wonderful. They sent Safe Cali Plumbing for my garbage disposal, my sink, and my kitchen and also for the toilet in my master bedroom. The disposal wasn't working, and the contractor came and he fixed it. There's a reboot button that he pushed, and something was stuck in it. In the bathroom, the toilet wouldn't flush properly, so he replaced that. Then there was a valve at the bottom of the toilet that was stuck, so in case of emergency, I couldn't turn it on and off, and he replaced that. He was really professional and very helpful. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and the person on the phone was very accommodating. They usually say the contractors are gonna call you within 24 hours. With this claim, they called two hours later.

    I would caution anyone from purchasing this warranty. We cancelled our within the first 30 days. We put in for 3 service requests. Rekeying - we paid $100.00 deductible, locksmith came. He was lovely and did his job and then asked for the remaining balance of $59.00. He said they pay up to $100.00. I paid the $100.00? I spent 2 hours on hold trying to get an answer about that. Second service request was for plumber. 8 days later still no appointment so I called them. They said they have no plumbers in my area but would "eventually" find someone. We have a leak and no hot water, not a good answer. At this point we decided to cancel as we are still within our 30 days. This process was terrible, I was put on hold over 6 times and transferred 5 times. I am still waiting for my $670.00 from agreement and $200.00 from deductibles they accepted and did no work on. Think twice before buying this warranty!

    I used AHS several times a year and I’ve always had good service with them. When I first got it, I would call and make a claim. But now, it’s easy online. I just go to the website and put in the information. They’ve saved me tons of money over the year. I bought an older home, so I made sure I had a home warranty and it paid for itself almost every year on various different things. Recently, I had an HTG claim.     My washing machine wouldn’t turn to wash the clothes. I also had a problem with my dishwasher because it was acting up -- sometimes it worked and sometimes it would not. I forgot what the contractor said the piece was on the washing machine, and then he went to work on the dishwasher, did something, and then everything was working good. Both of the issues were on one ticket. American Home Shield's customer service does good, and everything seems good, too. I don’t like the wait time people to come out, but this last trip was a lot faster.

    My shower was clogged and Prime Plumbing Services did an excellent job. I've had American Home Shield for about two and a half years. They’ve helped me with other issues. I did appreciate the fact that they first connected me with a company that really didn’t have great ratings, and I told them I really wasn’t satisfied with them after I did my research, and then they assigned a new company to send out. And that was the people that came out to fix my shower. So, I appreciate AHS taking that extra step. The people that they’ve sent out have been very helpful.     The guy from Standard Plumbing was very professional, on time and he fixed all my issues. They were wonderful, but I still have one standing claim with AHS right now. The guy’s taking forever to come and fix it. I talked about my refrigerator, and the rep told me I had to submit another claim, which I think is unacceptable. Especially due to the fact the guy they asked to do the work took all the information down and said just because he came out already, I had to do another claim. He didn't finish anything yet and I didn’t understand why I had to do another claim for that particular item. I want to see that improved.

    I’m always happy with American Home Shield. I’ve been with them for a long time and they’re the best so far. If I can get online, I'll first submit the claim online. We had an outlet inside that went out and Certified Electrical was super fast and was very good at it. Their technician came in less than a day and he was great. It was a little frustrating because the house is an Airbnb so if I have guests, I want things fixed ASAP.     Some of AHS' vendors are not the greatest in the world. I've had some issues with some of their plumbers and air conditioning people who have come out. Those guys didn't know what they were doing. My house flooded not too long after the last major plumber that I had came out. All my floors had to be replaced. That time, there was a leak in my kitchen faucet and he shut the water off to my kitchen for two weeks supposedly to order a new faucet. Originally, I thought that the leak was coming from the overflow from the air conditioning as that is a problem that I've had to have addressed multiple times.

    When he came back the second time, he went directly to the air conditioning unit and said that there was something wrong with it. I asked him what he was doing as he wasn't even here for that issue. He was supposed to have a faucet and he was acting like he didn't have a clue what he was doing. He had a major attitude and told me that he would have to order a faucet. He told me that he didn't know how long it would take to get one. By that time, my dog was about to go after him and he acted like he was afraid. So, I ran down to Home Depot, picked up a faucet and did it. Two weeks after that, there was another leak. Evidently, there was a line underneath the cabinet that the plumber didn't mess with which should've been fixed at the same time.

    More recently, my refrigerator was freezing up completely on both sides. I submitted a claim to AHS and they sent My Appliance Repair. The contractor's tech was very knowledgeable and I appreciated. They had to order parts and it took a week and a half for those to come in. After the techs replaced the parts, the refrigerator was throwing out error messages. So, I had to call them to come back and it took another four days for that. I appreciated that they sent the same tech because he knew what he was doing.

    But then, the tech had to replace more parts the second time he came out. He said that basically, I have a brand-new refrigerator now because all the inside parts have been replaced. He also said the refrigerator I have is prone to having issues and that the manufacturer hasn't made an upgrade for it. Currently, everything has been working great. This latest claim was much easier to deal with.

    I found submitting with AHS online to usually be easier. When we had a refrigerator replaced because they couldn’t replace the parts, it went easily. They gave me a website with recommendations that were comparable to the refrigerator that I had. I could’ve chosen from any one of those or have them send me a check, up to a certain amount, or submitted a receipt for one purchased locally. I chose to go with the one online because they had one for a price that I couldn’t beat locally. For our heating claim, Eagles HVAC came out. I was not here when they did, but my husband was. He said the contractor was professional and all business. We had no heat on our upper floor and had nothing on our thermostat upstairs. The contractor was able to repair it in one day.     We had Home Shield a few years ago but we dropped them for several years because they irritated me with not covering things that should have been covered. We took them back up again when we moved into this home. And even here, I've had them come out multiple times for something that should have been fixed the first time, and it wasn't.

    They have terrible customer service. There's a disconnect between who they send out and who is in their customer service center. I had an issue with our damper and they sent out a technician. He didn't know what he was doing so I ended up paying him the deductible and then the next year, we had the same exact problem 'cause he never fixed it. So we had to have another company come out hoping that they know what to do with this and pay again. I had to have three different companies come out for that one incident over the course of two years.

    There needs to be a window after the repair is done, that if it happens again, they need to send someone back out. Also, I would personally like the option of choosing the company that comes out instead of them just sending someone. But for our recent claim, the contractor was quick to come out and quick to repair. He knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it the same day.

    Super Air came out to service the heater that doesn't work. They fixed it and it worked for a couple of days, and then it stopped working. They came back and it started working again. They checked it out and said that they had to change another part. They said they ordered the parts, but they have not come back yet and it has been more than a week already. The contractors that came out were good. They came on time and they did what they were supposed to do.

    I've had coverage with American Home Shield for more than a year now. I've had a couple of claims before and everything was done so good. It took time to do it, but at the end of the day, they did what they were supposed to do. With my last two claims, they came and fixed it. They replaced one of my equipment and also fixed the other one. Now with the heater, we're still waiting and I don't know how long it's gonna take. But in general, everything has been good.     I thought the hot tub was broken because all of a sudden, it just drained all the water out of it. Mountain View Pool & Spa came out and everything went fine. It ended up not being a problem.     I had just purchased the home and in the process of moving in and hooking up the washer, my toilets were backing up into my showers. I called American Home Shield, they sent somebody out, he snaked a line from the outside and the problem went away.     I used to have problems with American Home Shield, but I don’t have any problems with them now since I have the direct people. Before I’d gotten in touch with a higher authority, my experience was really bad that I was on the verge of cancelling and going to another company. My neighbor gave me another company to go with because I pay maybe 2000 a year for insurance on my rental property and they send you these people that ain’t experienced. And then, when you call to complain about them and ask for a supervisor, they won’t share any information. So, I had to dig deep to get in touch with the right people who I need to place complaints to.

    So far, I’ve been getting my matters resolved. But I’m displeased with the companies they send to work on my appliances. They sent somebody to work on my microwave. I really don’t think the microwave needs replacement because it’s no more than four years old. But by them sending these company out twice, then it’s still the same thing going on. I just feel they need to get certified people, and not just anybody who say they have a license.

    With the first group that came to fix the microwave, my husband asked how the tech knew about it. He said he watched somebody else work on the microwave. So, he didn’t have any experience. He was just going in there guessing what’s going on. The appliances I have is a set. I hate to break the set. So, it then got to the point now where they say I have to break the set because nobody’s making this microwave. Then, the microwave is somewhere far away, but that company doesn’t want to ship it way to me to keep my set going. I gotta get a whole microwave that’s not even a set to what I have, and I’m disgusted about that. My son also has a warranty with AHS and he has a lot of problems with them too.

    Three month saga. Bottom line I still don’t have a replaced disposal, have paid a fee twice and currently have standing water in my sink and a disposal that won’t work and has been failed for 3 months. Three months ago placed request. I told their “customer service specialist” the kitchen sink wasn’t draining, that I wasn’t sure why and that I thought it could be blocked or the garbage disposal could be the issue. Emphasis on “I don’t know”.

    “Plumber” comes out and says it’s the garbage disposal but AHS didn’t write that down so he can’t replace it. That supposed plumber was an idiot. Didn’t even know how the shower faucet worked. Takes two weeks to get a new plumber out because at first AHS denies that it was their fault for not listing the words “garbage disposal” as if I’m supposed to be some kind of genius plumber? The CAUSE of the issue was the garbage disposal and I even mentioned that as a possible cause.

    Anyway new plumber comes out, garbage disposal actually works when he’s here. Great. He says just, "Call and we will come back". For 2 months disposal stops and starts finally dies. Start calling AHS. For 5 days I place 8 calls (they like to put you on hold then hang up on you) just trying to get someone out to replace what should have been replaced in the first place. It’s still not fixed. I’ve been on today’s call for 21 minutes, haven’t been hung up on yet though. Enough time to look the, up, find a reviews site and type this review. They are horrible.

    American Home Shield is awesome. They sent A & B Electric Service and a guy came out. My pool pump was making noise. He did a check on everything from the fuse box, all the way to the other part of the house. Then he told me, "I think I need to prime this." I was standing there and he primed it, and when he turned it back on, there was no noise. I just started laughing because I knew better myself. But I've dealt with those guys for at least five different times and they've always been good. American Home Shield has a good thing with me, and I'm gonna stick with them for as long as I own my property. I purchased this home 11 years ago, and I've been with them since then.

    There was one thing that was not in my contract. I had a light fixture in my kitchen, and the service provider came out, and he asked the representative from American Home Shield if he could go ahead and purchase it and do it and then they said no. So then I waited for like three months. And then I called and talked to somebody about it. She said, "Well, you should have called us and said that you needed it done." They sent out their informative paper about how to do things like say if I go to Lowe's or do a DIY. I noticed in that paper that they would cover it if I would have called them before. I'm thinking I was at fault, but at the same time, they were at fault as well because the contractor was here at that time. Everything was taken apart. And I was expecting to be finished, but I had paid the service fee already.

    When the guy got ready to leave, he said, "They should have paid for this. It's no different than just like any other thing you asked for in here." Other than that, I had to call them because they were only taking like 30 some dollars away from my account for my monthly payment. I had to call them in November of 2019 because I was noticing that the pool paper wasn't coming out. And when I spoke to the lady, I got the letter stating that they made a mistake to my billing. But they didn't come back and try to recharge me for the difference in the amount. So, I love them!

    The claim for the heater was initially called in to American Home Shield on December 11th and the contractor, Best Care, has been out at least five times for a month. They ordered a part that was too big so Best Care couldn’t really do anything to fix the issue. They reimbursed me the 17.85 when I was gonna bring it up to code. The issue still stands and the heater is not fixed. I just want a new unit and it's pretty much on me.

    The air conditioner went out last year and they kept repairing it until it got to the point this year where it just completely went out. They pretty much lifted up their hands. I just had a talk with them and they said if it can’t be repaired, the contract says to replace it. So, I’m thinking that the unit is for replacement, but they said they don’t pay for any of that in order to be replaced. I looked at my contract and I brought it to their attention. They just went silent and didn’t wanna go any further with it.

    We had electrical issues. On the front porch, one of the lights wasn't working properly and then another outside light, and then in our upstairs bathroom, a light was just turning on by itself. The service provided by the contractor when he came out was great. He did everything he came out to do. He was very professional and everything that he did worked fine.

    I dealt with AHS a lot with plumbing issues where the turn around was really fast. But for this claim, a different electrician was given to us and I could never get a hold of them. But this guy that we had that came out, it was a really quick turnaround. We're in a rural area so I'm not surprised that would happen sometimes where AHS couldn't find a provider.     The claim for the AC unit took a while. But the guy who came out was very professional and very nice. There was a miscommunication between him and the technicians who had ordered the part, and when they received it, it wasn’t programmed, so he had to take it back. He had to remove it from the unit, take it back, get it redone again, and then come back. So it took a little longer than expected, but it’s working fine. The heat is working. I haven’t had any issues since.

    Submitting the claim was real easy. I’ve done it online before, but this time around, I called because I was unsure as to what to put down as what I needed. I feel more comfortable talking to a person than putting it in the system as I didn’t know exactly how to word it. Home Shield was very fast at getting the technicians to come out here. Once Home Shield contacted them, they called me right away to schedule the appointment. But other than that, I didn’t have any issues. Home Shield was awesome. I upgraded my policy this year because I wasn’t aware that my small appliances were not included on the one I had prior.

    I had lots of issues with the fridge, and they were the second warranty company to come out, but they realized that it wasn’t able to be fixed. Instead of keep throwing parts at it, they’re making it right, and they’re replacing it. They’re covering it, and I’m just paying the difference. So we got a new fridge ordered. They were really good. The tech was really good. He was real knowledgeable and he knew what to do. Everything has been great. AHS always calls you, appointments are set up quick, and somebody is usually out within a few days. I call AHS when I have a claim. It's the easiest way because then they know by your zip code who you are, and it pulls it up right away, versus if you go online, then you’ve got to type in the number.

    We've got three different AHS policies, two rental properties of our own. Before Christmas vacation, we reported our washer. It worked to our advantage that we weren't waiting for an extended period for the parts to come in. We were gone, not letting clothes pile up, so it was fine.     One of the plumbing pipes broke and I had a leak in my kitchen ceiling. I went online and followed the steps to submit a claim. The website was very useful and they gave me an expectation. After I submitted the claim, I got an email that said I was gonna get contacted by the assigned vendor within 48 hours. The tech came and he was really friendly. He explained everything to me and he even gave me some tips about plumbing. He replaced the pipe and fixed the issue. It was a good service.

    AHS could improve their customer service by bringing jobs back to America. I know when I called AHS I wasn’t talking to some Indians. But other than that, American Home Shield is great and we've had them for 4 or 5 years at this point. They helped us with our freezer that wasn’t making any ice. Then, when we were washing and as the washer was turning, it sounded like its basin was gonna fly out. We already had a guy out to check our freezer and he heard it. He said, “Oh, my god. What the heck is that noise?” And then he was like, “That’s broken.” So, of course, I called American Home Shield and Searle's Appliance came out and was awesome. The tech declared my washer dead so I got a new washer. Also, I got a new dishwasher ‘cause my dishwasher had died. And, the indicator light of my stove wouldn’t come off and so something had broken on my switches. It’s like when it rained, it poured. So, I have no complaints whatsoever.

    I made a request online to American Home Shield. They gave me the phone number and name of the contractor. This time, Beyer Appliance Services was sent to do service and they arrived within a week. The techs who came did an excellent job. They diagnosed the issue and replaced a part. Overall, AHS has been helpful. It takes a while to call for customer support via telephone but submitting claims online has been pretty easy.

    I’ve only had one claim for an ice maker and refrigerator. And the first contractor that was sent out by American Home Shield told me he couldn’t repair it and that it was a manufacturer’s defect. So I called the manufacturer and they told me of course it could be fixed. They gave me the name of someone that they work with, and I called them and they said they could repair it. So then I contacted American Home Shield a second time and I said the first contractor appears to have been incorrect. I told them the whole story and then they sent a different company out who repaired it and did a good job.

    Our furnace wasn't staying on and it wasn't keeping the temperature so I'd have to shut it off and turn it back on. Then it would come back on but it was doing the same thing over and over. It would kick on, kick off and then it wouldn't come back on. The contractor said it's dusty and dirty and it was something he had to clean. They have fixed it and everything's working now. We never know though 'cause the furnace is really old so we wanted to make sure. He said we have 60 days to call him back if we're having problems with it. He was great and he explained everything to my husband. Also, we have another claim with Home Shield and it's okay too. Everything's good now.

    The technician from S Electric Contractors called my cell and let me know that he was coming as well as the direction and where he was coming from. He let me know when he was gonna get closer. He inquired about what was the problem, diagnosed it, went in and took care of everything. He said it was fixed and if I had any more concerns, to let him know, and he left.

    We got American Home Shield probably for about six to seven years now and their service was great. A lot of the warranty wear off on appliances and other things after a certain period of time. So, that is a good investment to have where you just pay the service fee, and then a technician comes out, so whatever that problem is, diagnoses it and then makes recommendations and then go and fixes the problem. Also, I haven't had any issues every time we file the claim.

    I bought American Home Shield policy for my parents. When we had a claim for the air condition where they had to replace the entire compressor and the unit inside, they reimbursed us for the compressor. But when they put in the unit upstairs, they were trying to fit pipes that didn't go together. There was a water leak that resulted in damages that they had to pay us for. We also had another AC unit upstairs in my parents’ house where the guy looked at it and said, “It looks like it’s old.” And then he went outside and didn't open it. He just came in and said, “A rat chewed through your wires. That’s what's wrong with it.”

    When my dad went back out and opened it up, there were no exposed wires, nothing where a rat chewed through the wire to burn anything up, and they just declined the claim. It was a horrible experience with that vendor. AHS said that it’s the only vendor that they work with. I’ve tried to call that vendor a couple of times with my parents and they only said that they were gonna come out. They always came back out, but they were a mess. The first time they brought out the HVAC unit, it was blowing water all over the place. The tech said, “It needs to be retrofitted.” So, they tried to retrofit it while they were out there instead of just getting the correct piece to put in the unit.

    I had a policy for a long time too and it was more of a payment plan. Typically, they're charging $125 deductible every time they come out, which is basically a service fee. So, by the time I pay in the monthly $50 and the $125 service fee, they’ll always try to figure out how just to repair the item. Even if they have to repair it 10 times, they’ll repair it 10 times before they’ll try to replace it. So, they cost you more money in service fees than if you were just to have paid for it on your own. Because the whole game is to just try to repair it as much as they can, and they will not acquiesce to replacing it even though it takes three or four visits to figure out that it still can be paid. By then, you’re into $500 or $600, and it’s cheaper just to buy a new unit from the beginning.

    AHS really don’t have the most knowledgeable people that are doing repairs. So, we’re just gonna have to cancel everything because it’s just a waste of time to have their vendor go out there. And when you bring up something with a vendor, instead of them looking into it, they don’t. They wanna always protect the vendor, which is dangerous to them to be in that situation, considering the vendors have done water damage, not replacing things to code, etc.

    My heating and air conditioner was gone. We had to turn the gas off to keep carbon monoxide from getting in my house. I called American Home Shield on December 17th and May Heating & Air came out and looked on the 19th. The tech who came was very good. We got cold waiting for the heat to come on, but they knew what they were doing and they did a great job. They then agreed and bought a new heating and air conditioning unit, which was installed on the 27th of December.

    I also had a refrigerator that was leaking in the back, and it turned out that the water was running into the wall into my living room. The carpet got wet and that was a big deal cleaning all that up. I called AHS, and their contractor came out quickly and ordered a part. However, it has been a week and it is still gone. I thought I'd never get off hold from these people that the warranty company works with, and I felt that was wrongful that they have people who put you on hold. It seems to me they walk off, leave you and never come back to you. That disappointed me. I called the guy and he said he would be in today between the hours of 11:00 and 2:00 PM.

    AHS charged me 75 dollars to send a contractor - the contractor looked at the issue and told me that they basically cannot work on the issue or fix it, since it would not be covered by AHS. So basically you pay the policy premium to AHS hoping that when an unknown issue pops up, you will have the coverage. Instead, AHS charges you $75 (on top of your annual premium) for someone to come in and tell you that they cannot really resolve the issue because AHS would not cover it. Isn't it complete fraud on AHS part? I am never buying any policy from this company.

    I had a wiring problem in my home, which was covered under my contract and I was assured by the CSR that it was as well. The serviceman showed up, did no work, and I was still charged $100, and I still have the same issue as before, except now I am unable to turn on ANY of the lights in my hallway. After arguing with the warranty company they said any fault in the wiring caused by a service provider (duh, wires don't sprout out of thin air), they will not cover it. You could burn your money for heat, to get more use out of it than this company will provide you. Avoid them at all costs if you want actual customer service.

    I recently had American home shield as my home warranty. I live in Florida and on Christmas my air-conditioning decided to not work. It was very hot I could not get someone to come in here for about a week and then after that I kept getting hung up on the phones after. Finally they sent someone here. This was the third time somebody came for this air-conditioning and they constantly told me I needed Freon. They kept avoiding to replace this unit. All they keep doing is trying to put a Band-Aid on it. I have two little kids that I’m bringing up and my mom who is 91 and they were no help to me so then I was canceled. Before I was canceled in reimbursed I ended up putting in a brand new unit and had to pay out of my pocket. So I don’t see what’s the sense of having a home warranty if they’re not going to honor the product that was broken and needed to be replaced. They did nothing for me.     When Price Right came out, they did a tremendous job on this order. They did good. When I call and I need service, American Home Shield's contractors always come out and take care of the problem. I've had a problem with my sink before. The contractor came out and replaced the new sink that I had with no problem. I also had them come out to take care of my dryer, and everything has been working in good condition. The dishwasher has been working good, too. I tell people to get AHS. It's worth it.

    My wife and I finally decided to get a Home warranty. We chose American Home Shield because of the ratings. Everything was fine until I had to make a claim for a repair. ((Prior to calling them I had called another company out to inspect the garage door opener. He did a total inspection and said I needed to have the motor replaced.)) So I called and tell them I need to make a claim for my garage door opener. They took their 100.00 and then sent someone out. They sent me a message who would be coming out. The first time I had to cancel them coming out because I had to work overtime. So they set up another appointment. Then I got a call from the company on the day of the appointment telling me that they cannot have someone come out because they didn't have anyone to come look at my garage door opener. So I figured ok make another appointment.

    I get another call telling me they can be there earlier but not the time I had scheduled them for. So I had to make another appointment. When all this happened I called the warranty people each time. All I got was a run around and some lame excuses. I even asked about choosing my own repair company and they didn't want to let me do that even though it says that can be done. All I got were excuses why I cannot choose my own repair company. Finally someone shows up. The guy they sent opens the garage door and taps on the garage door motor. Then he says "I cant find anything wrong with it." I told him the door has an intermittent problem and will not work all the time. I even showed him what the other repair company had wrote out on the invoice. So he repeated the same thing that he cant find anything wrong. This clown didn't have a clue how to do his job.

    He didn't do any type of inspection other than tap on the side of the motor and open the door. So I told him to leave since he was basically useless. I called the warranty people again and told them what happened and that I was not happy with the way things have been handled. I asked to speak to a manager / supervisor each time and all I got was a runaround. They kept making excuses for not letting me talk to a manager / supervisor. I finally got someone in the resolution dept. They told me that they would have the company come out again but they said they would tell them to send someone with more experience. I was told I would get a call / email letting me know when they would be able to come out. I never got any type of contact and that's when I finally had enough.

    I called and canceled my contract with them today. All of a suddenly they wanted to help me and made me all kinds of offers to keep me from leaving. They told me they would give me back my 100.00 and let me choose the company to take care of my garage door. I told them I have had enough of their lousy customer service and I am not paying them another cent. If they would have let me use the repair company I had come out first then I would not have cancelled my contract. Now if this had happened after being with them for a few years I could almost understand this type of customer service. But I only had them since October of 2019. So as of January 2020 I canceled them. I will never recommend them to anyone. So I do not recommend using American Home Shield.

    Both water heaters were leaking, we had water come down through the ceiling, leaving the ceiling a mess. So along with the rusty water ceiling damage, we have video of the water leaking from tops of both heaters, along with heavy corrosion around connection into heaters. We shut the water off and called Home Shield. The plumbers came out and couldn't find 'evidence of a leak'. We explained that it has been leaking, and showed them all the evidence we have. They said they still couldn't do anything unless it was actually pouring out.

    I had then spoken to a reputable plumbing company, who tell me due to pressure build up, it may not be evidently leaking all of the time. After a few days it starts leaking again, so we call home-shield again, and tell them they are leaking, and we need someone out quickly so they can see the leak. Well the plumbers can't of course come out straight away because they have 'other customers'. My wife asks them if they can prioritize us, and the lady on the phone says, 'well do you want me to call all our customers and ask if we can put you first?' My wife asks 'are you actually going to do that that?' and the lady on the phone says 'no I'm lying to you'. So home-shield send another plumber out, but again it's too late to catch the pressure build up. Same deal, can't do anything unless we have actual mechanical failure. So while I do understand they need to make sure customers aren't trying to get something for nothing we have:

    1. Prior evidence of the leak with both damage and video and pictures of water leaking.
    2. $60 dollars a month for the past 6 years we have been paying.
    3. Terrible attitude and service from the plumbers they sent out.

    4. Home-shield don't warranty damage, so they want us to wait until our kitchen is turned into a swimming pool before we can get these things replaced.

    And finally to top it all off, the plumber on his paperwork, writes 'RECOMMEND REPLACING WATER HEATERS DUE TO CONDITION'. Seriously Home Shield, you should be ashamed. Cancelling contract.

Long Lane Home Services came out and brought me a brand-new ice maker, put it in and left. And within 24 hours, I still had no ice. I called them back and they came back out with another new unit.     I called American Home Shield regarding my leak in the sink in my master bedroom and they sent out a gentleman from K&S Plumbing Services. The tech was an hour and a half late but K&S kept in touch with me and let me know that the tech was on his way. The tech was nice and he repaired my sink. But then, I thought he would put in new PVC. Instead, he put a stopgap where the leak was. Still, my sink has been working fine. Everyone at AHS has been prompt and they make sure I'm in touch so I know where the maintenance man is coming from and when he would be at my place.

    Home Shield provided for me for one year with the previous owner of my house. They sent me Choice Plumbing to fix the house before I bought it and they didn't do a great job. They didn't fix the issue on the first time, but they are not bad. Then recently, I filed for a claim and the experience was very nice. Choice Plumbing was very good. But I also have a reservation for them because I'm not sure whether they addressed the problems properly. Still, they were timely and they didn't do a horrible job.

    I had let time get away from me when the guy from MJS Mechanical Service was coming out. They had a 10-minute window where they’d call but I had my phone on silent and I didn’t hear him. I had already been without heat for two days. He said he’ll have to cancel. I was pretty emotional about it. The thought of going without heat for another day just tore me up. He ended up calling me back and saying that he was able to work me in, even though it was in policy that they didn’t do that. I was very pleased with that. He explained what he was doing and what the problem was as he was working on it and fixing it. I enjoy having American Home Shield. I'm glad to have it because it's only served me as a benefit since I've had it. As far as submitting a claim, I just call and tell them what's wrong and they tell me who's gonna come.     Southwinds Electric was sent by American Home Shield for the claim I filed on a GFI outlet. The wires were crossed on it. The guy who came out was pretty much on time, really personable, explained all the situations and then swapped out the actual GFI outlet. It was a pretty easy fix. It's also easy to submit claims with AHS. And I haven’t had any problems with the deductibles or any type of the servers that are actually doing the service. I wouldn’t mind seeing a more expanded list with them, but everything has been going good.

    For close to 20 years, we've been with American Home Shield and I like the ease of picking up the phone and calling them when I have an issue. I do not have to worry about spending hundreds of dollars, which is done upfront in order to pay for the privilege of having American Home Shield. For the most part, it’s been smooth. What I don’t like is, there was one time in particular where it took weeks to get something taken care of. It was a toilet issue and it was a big deal. Sometimes, it’s not that easy to get someone on a repair as fast as we would like. So, the communication could be improved. We also had one situation where we had a little bit of a misunderstanding. We thought something was covered and they said it wasn’t, and then they sent someone back saying, “It was covered.” Still, the contractors have been overall good.     The gentleman from Patriot Plumbing checked the hot water heater and said that something was tripping a breaker, which I have no knowledge of what was going on. He fixed everything and left. But two days later, exactly the same thing went on. I tried getting ahold of them. Then I tried calling American Home Shield and they supposedly sent Patriot Plumbing an email. I called them on a Friday and never received any response. Thursday of the following week, Patriot Plumbing came back and the same gentleman checked all the electronics again, and he said he didn’t seem to see anything wrong. I told him it trips the breaker every day. So he turned around and he replaced two thermostats. Since then, we’ve had plenty of hot water.

    I’ve had my microwave worked in by American Home Shield, and they sent a company that dealt with the stoves. We also submitted a claim when the washing machine stopped working. I called American Home Shield and filed a thing to have something worked on, and the same company came back because they're local in the area. I was very happy. The gentleman walked in, fixed the problem, and said, “You have a nice day, sir,” and he was out the door.

    When I call the American Home Shield number, I do not get anybody in the United States of America. I talk to somebody in Bangladesh or in India. I request to speak to somebody in the United States and they keep telling me they couldn't do that. I have a hard time understanding people speaking another dialect. I tried to look for a number that I could call that I could speak to somebody in the United States. But when I call that 1866 number, it could go anywhere in the world. When I finally requested to speak to a manager, the rep told me that she would have to call me back, and she hung up on me. So my one big complaint is that American Home Shield does not have a response center that we can talk to in the United States.

    I feel comfortable that all of my appliances and my home is protected by American Home Shield. But I feel very uncomfortable where American Home Shield is using the word “America” but they have people throughout the world answering their phones because it’s cost-effective for them. When I was talking to a person from India, her use of the American language was fine. But you need to also understand that I’m not used to speaking to people from India, so that makes it kinda difficult. I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield with repairing of my products. But I’m dissatisfied with the fact that you can’t contact somebody in the United States. You're dealing with somebody out of the United States. Some of these phone calls that are picked up by these people are probably at a house because I could hear kids playing in the background. So it wasn’t going to an office space whereas you could get a manager.

    The guy from Ace’s Garage Door was very informative, very nice, and respectful. I had an electrical claim and when he got here, it was working. So, I’m thinking, when I pushed it, I must have not held it down completely. And so, I paid $75 to have him come out and it was working. I’ve had several claims with AHS since I’ve moved in. I had the garage door claim, the washer and dryer claim, and two different plumbers came out.

    The gentleman that came from Sears for the washer was an elderly man. He was a little grumpy, which I didn't care for his attitude. I thought he hadn’t fixed it correctly because it wasn’t working right, but what it was is that there was a leak with the water valve. He turned it off and when you turn it off, then the washer doesn’t work correctly. And he didn’t explain that to me. When he left, I was trying to wash and it kept on turning off. So, I called AHS back and I told them, “Look, I don’t want the same person to come out here ‘cause I didn’t like his attitude. He was, basically, really rude at the beginning.” He got over his rudeness, but he made me feel very uncomfortable in my house. Other than that, I told my daughter about AHS. She’s buying a home out in Texas. She’s looking into AHS, and I told her that I’ve had good response from them.

    We took advantage of getting the locks replaced for whatever the offer was with a new home deal. American Home Shield said that we could get up to five locks rekeyed and the guy from Dan’s ProLock did fine. We're now working on a drain issue. Something with one of the pipes burst and the plumbing guy is working on fixing it. He had to go a certain way through and we would have to pay out of pocket for the tile. Once that’s done, he can get access to the thing. So, it’s a multi-day process ‘cause of that. But they did promise they would get it done soon.

    I have a 42-year-old dryer. I have never had anyone come over to my house to fix it except for one time and that was because I had my credit card in my pocket and it was making this clicking sound. The contractor charged $50 to come over to take it out. He also had to go back and order a part. He came back a couple of days later and fixed it. Majority of my appliances have been that old. In the last year with American Shield, I had an old stove. At that time, it was about 34 years old and they replaced it because the company doesn't make the parts anymore. Even the company has been dissolved. So when the guy came over and fixed the dryer, I was more than happy because I didn't want to have to buy a new one. I was jumping for joy. I was excited. He did a wonderful job and I’d highly recommend him. Although I was told that if I have a motor problem, he won't be able to help me.

    One time, my husband had an air conditioner in another city where he had a house and we had under separate contract. AHS said they sent a check to my address but they had the wrong address, the wrong number. They were supposed to send it back but they sent it to his home address which is 75 miles away. He made it clear to send it to our house where we live because that was being rented out. That went on for two whole months. I said, "I'm not paying you until I get the $300 you owe me." They couldn't find anybody in the area to do the work for him, so I didn't pay for two months. And since I have not gotten the check, I started looking for another service. And so, I wasn't paying for it.

    I called them up and said, "I just got the check and it passed. I got it in my checking account. It's good to go. But I don't want your service if you have to behave like this and I have to wait for my money." They said, "Why don't we keep you and we'll give you the next one, which is this one, free visit. We won't charge you the $100." I said, "Are you sure you're not gonna do that?" She said, "No, ma'am, we're not gonna do that." Guess what they did? And this is a daily thing for me. Every time I look at an appointment, I have to fight for my life upstream. I called the lady up and she said, "It shows that you have to pay though." I then asked for a supervisor. I had gotten a bill for $108 and I said, "I'm not paying it." And I never got another bill. So, the left hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing.

    AHS needs to get their paperwork straightened out. When I said, “We sent you a letter, we faxed it, we mailed, we did all of it,” They said, "I'm sorry, we never got it." Someone's not doing their job. They need to improve their customer service a bit. I'd still recommend them though because they always come up with the job and get it done right or replace the object. I'm proud of that and I'm proud to tell people this is a good product.

    I had a plumbing issue and I was surprised AHS didn’t go with somebody that’s been here in Rowlett for over 50 years. But the claim went all right. The guy who came was telling the very young one what to do. Immediately he knew a part needed to be replaced and they replaced it really quick. They were checking to see that thing was running, but they didn’t realize when they left that it would leak. I didn’t know as well until it started coming out from underneath the sink. And so we had to have them again, and they sent someone else out. He must have known it was a PVC pipe because he came in with it. He was in and out, 15 minutes, and fixed the leak.

    American Home Shield was good. But the contracting company not so much because I had to call several times or a couple of days before I got somebody. And there was a crying baby, and the young woman don’t even sound old enough to have a baby. She’s also got the language down part. It’s like she memorized it and maybe they were doing another home.

    I always file my claims online and a contractor would contacts, and usually they come within 24 hours. I like that the contractors didn't call, they text messaged me, which I prefer, especially because I was at work. I asked if they could come a little earlier. Even they didn't have an appointment window open at that time, the guy did make it work to come earlier. So it was good. It's our third year with AHS, and it's a good peace of mind to know that if anything breaks, big or small, the most it's gonna cost me is $100 for the deductible.

    The contract is confusing with regard to gas fireplaces. The contract specifically excludes "Fireplace, grain, pellet, coal, or wood heating units (even if only source of heating)." Gas fireplaces are not listed as excluded; however, the company verbally advises that they are not covered???

    Furnace manifold inop in October 2019. It's January 2020 and still no heat. They ignored the technician they sent's recommendation on the replacement part, ordered the incorrect/incompatible unit anyway. Still do not have the part required for my furnace to operate and the technician stated he could have had it within a day or two. I have no clue what is going on with my status right now. Customer service constantly gives the run around about status. Last time I talked to a CSR, they told me not to call back and that they would get back to me when they had an update.     We bought an older home and without knowing how well it was cared for we wanted the piece of mind that a home warranty 'should' give. We decided on AHS because of their name recognition and also reviews. I've now noticed that on their website they have only great reviews, hmmmm! I've also found other sites have great reviews, but I am unable to leave a review, wondering if those reviews are pulled from their website? So, when I signed up, I wanted 'bumper to bumper' coverage. I did indeed ask all the right questions on being covered, and paid for the annual fee. Last week we called AHS for a weird sound our furnace was making. They sent out a company that I know scams people, and I had had 1st hand experience with this company trying to scam me. This was a really bad first impression for AHS, having a contract with a shady HVAC company.

    The company came out and said we needed a new furnace, it was/is 24 years old, so nothing shady about that. IMMEDIATELY the technician told me that AHS would cover a comparable furnace, but they wanted to upgrade me to a more reliable furnace. Now, mind you our home is a top of the line home and top of the line builder, so I know the furnace was a great to excellent grade furnace. I immediately told the tech that we had no interest.

    Later when AHS called they told me that the furnace would be covered, but all 'modifications' would be out of pocket for us, at the tune of $1446, OUCH! These are necessary things, because the new furnace was a little different sized. Now, not only did I think my AHS warrant covered a furnace 100%, I had asked all the right questions when I 1st called in about the warranties offered.

    I was 'a little' upset about this, but what can I really do? Nothing! So, the company comes and installs the new furnace, which is NOT really comparable to our old furnace, but again, what can I do? I don't even think the new furnace is the same specs, which AHS HAS to do. Then I find out that the HVAC company didn't even do one of the major 'modifications' it charged me for. I called AHS and asked for the itemized list of charges for the modifications and they claimed they would send me that, but I still haven't received it! I want to know the exact amount, because I only expect a refund for the part they did not do.

    AHS has started a complaint against the HVAC company, so we'll see how this goes. AND I found out that the HVAC co that came out is on again, off again with AHS all the time, which AHS denies, but the techs confirmed. Do yourself a favor and find a better home warranty company. Wish I knew who that was, but I think most of them are scams, at this point!

    First plumber came out and inspected the house and had heard the water leak. He advised me that he need to go through my kitchen in order to fix the leak. In the contract it states that customer must provide access, which in fact I did. I showed the plumber that I had a crawl space. Plumber saw it and said that it was too small for home. However not to worry, he'll report this to American Home Shield.

    Few days later, American Home Shield contacted me and advised me that they have found a smaller guy and that they will send him out. Guy came out and did a thorough inspection and pointed out that the leak in front of my house needs to be fixed. That included the water pressure regulator. I showed him the crawl space access. He went inside about half way and reported to me that he does not have enough space and that he needed to go through the kitchen. He had asked me how much I liked my kitchen floor. I responded to him that I like it very much. He assured me that he will report this to American Home Shield and also not to worry.

    About few days later, on a Monday 01/13/2020, I contacted American Home shield and had asked what's the status. The Agent replied stating that they'll cover the water pressure regulator. However the leak underneath the house, I would have to hire a contract and have that contractor create an access for their plumber to fix the leak and that I would get a cash reimbursement. I suggested a solution by hiring my licensed contractor that would not have to dig through my kitchen and utilize the access that I initially provided in lieu of the contract.

    My contractor came out, he's a much larger individual than the both contractors whom American Home Shield sent and that he can be able to fit in the crawl space and fix the problem. I reported this finding to American Home Shield and advised a solution that would be cost effective. Agent then advised me to go ahead and to advised me that the cash out department would contact me within 24 hours. This was Monday 01/13/2020. My contractor came out the next day 01/14/2020 and fixed all the problem and gave the invoice for the repairs.

    Today 01/15/2020 I contacted American Home Shield to voice a concern since I had not heard from them in over 24 hours that they initially had stated. I was on the phone close to an hour and had learned that the cash out was only for $110, meanwhile I had paid this contractor $740. I had escalated this matter to one of American Home Shield Acting Supervisor Raul, Operator ID: ** had advised me that American Home Shield have agreement with local plumbers and that they would not have charged this amount and therefore I'm on my own. I explained to Raul where I stood, and that this was a bad practice on American Home Shield, sending lousy plumbers that would not want to go through Crawl space in order to fix my problem for reasons of space being too small.

    Meanwhile, My contractor whom is much larger than both was able to fit through and fix the problem. The other plumbers wanted me to tear out my kitchen. That would have costed me $$$$ Thousands of dollars, though I'm providing access whom a much larger plumber doesn't seem to have any problem going in there and fixing the problem. When I had bought my house back in 2012 I had a similar problem that which I had contacted American Home Shield and they sent a guy out that accessed my crawl space and fixed the problem. Now it's a different story. After I had received a go ahead come to learn that they'll only pay me $110 rather than what I had paid. While American Home Shield continue to go through their rolodex of plumbers, meanwhile my water continues to skyrocket.

    911 Locksmith Services come out to rekey our locks. It was a new home purchase, but all the locks were different, and we wanted them all to be the same. The guy was quiet, and he did his job. He was excellent. I got the six keys, which was all we needed. He also replaced the lock on the gate, which had a lock and he couldn't make it work. So, he went all the way back to his office, picked up a new lock, brought it back and fixed it. I was just so impressed with his competence. I also had an oven experience where Dill Appliance came out to check it out and the tech determined that it was too old. When he called the factory, there were no parts. So he determined that we had to replace it.

    So far, everybody who came out has been competent, on time, worked around my schedule and have been patient. Everything they came to do, they did, and they've done a good job. We also had the air ducts cleaned because they were filthy. The house is 22 years old and we didn't realize coming in what needed to be done, because it was all something that happened after we moved in. We also had to have the AC checked because it wasn't operating properly. And the plumber came out and checked the hot water heater that wouldn't heat up.

    So far, we've had about four calls and everything is now working beautifully. The guy that came was excellent. My husband said he figured out that the two water heaters were tied together. So that even though one operated one side of the house, the other operated the other side, he was able to adjust it so that the same amount of hot water was coming through for both. And I am so grateful for him because I couldn't even take a shower because it took 30 minutes for the water to mix. And he got it all fixed, it's instant hot, and I'm thrilled.

    We've been looking for the oven and we've had a little problem with that. It's a shame. What the previous owners did, they bricked in every wall in the kitchen, and they bricked around the existing wall ovens. We didn't know how to measure it because the actual cut-out was hidden with the trim. We guessed at it and then we got it wrong by one inch. So, we had to cancel our order and ordered another one that's 50-inch. But the problem was on our side because we didn't know. We took a screwdriver and hammered out all of the mortar from around the existing one and found that it was much smaller than we thought. So, that's the only one that I've had a little problem with. At least they're replacing it, but we have to pay for the restocking and the percentage of what it cost to restock it. It's a $2,000 unit so it's fine even if I have to pay $200.

    The water was running through the toilet constantly. Then, that stopped, and there was no water at all. The guy from Circa Mechanical came out and did fantastic. From the time I put in the claim to getting someone there was a little bit challenging. The first day, the guy was supposed to come out between 12:00 and 5:00. It was 8 o’clock in the evening before I got a call, and I couldn’t take the person at that point. But the person that they sent out on the second day was fantastic. I just wish I get a quicker response time from the vendor that AHS contracts with, and then have them follow through with the time frame when they said they're gonna be there. I've been with American Home Shield for 16 years. I'm trying to save myself potentially high expense if something goes out and it saved me some money, so I kept them.

    When I moved into the house, the faucet leaked constantly and you couldn’t turn it off. I was losing quite a lot of water so, the contractor had to fix it so that it wouldn’t leak. I was given the name of the company, American Home Shield and I called their number. At first, I had a lot of trouble because something had gone wrong. American Home Shield didn’t receive the money that the real estate company was supposed to send them so, it was a big hassle. I got that straightened out and then, AHS called the plumbing company. The plumber showed up and fixed it but it took them a while to get the right part to fix it, so he had to come back. Getting the money to AHS from the real estate company was a little bit difficult but other than that, the experience was okay. They got the job done, which was what I needed.

    I like the security that I feel that American Home Shield has my back if anything was to go wrong, which there are a lot of potentials here in this older home. I’m in my third year with them and the quality against its cost has been good. They replaced my dishwasher a couple of years ago without much hesitation when it was needed. As long as the annual price stays at a comparable price, I’ll be very happy. I had a leaky pipe under the sink and the claim went fine but I would have liked a call ahead on the first go-around coming out because my husband was in the shower when they knocked on the door and they left, and we had to reschedule. They came back out the next day so it wasn’t a huge issue. They also gave us an hour window, so whether they were coming right at 9:00 or at 10:00 in the morning was the big difference. The pipe was rusting in a way and they had to cut it and put a new plastic pipe on.

    My air conditioner quit working and I was told that I needed a new one. If I had AHS at the time, they would have fixed it and it would have been fine. A year later, the compressor went out and it wasn't under warranty, so I had to pay another $1,000 for that. So, it was sad that I didn't have AHS before, but I've got it in my condo and my house. Lately, it seems like they've gotten a whole lot better, too. Submitting a claim with them used to be unbelievable. You'd call and wait 45 minutes to get through to anybody at American Home Shield. But with the last two claims I had, my experience have been really good. When I called them, they answered right away and that's really important. Also, the people they sent out have done what they said they would.

    Recently, I had a plumbing issue and they sent out a tech from Home Choice Services. There was a small leakage in the toilet and he did something and fixed it. He also told me not to turn it that tight to prevent the same problem from happening and he was done in 30 minutes. Other than that, whenever he came out, he showed up when he was supposed to. He was a nice guy, too.

    AHS's online claims process is relatively easy, but sometimes, the options aren’t always exactly what you need to choose. You have to submit the claim, call them and tell them what’s going on. On a Friday morning, I found out about a clogged sewer system. I put the claim in with AHS and the first company called me to set the schedule up, but they couldn’t get out there until Monday, which was not acceptable. I called AHS back and they called somebody else and got it resolved. Whitney Holdings came out and took care of the issue. It was a relatively easy fix. It was just a matter of having somebody available to take care of it that day

    I also had an air conditioning claim that took weeks to get resolved. The first company AHS sent had been there a couple of times and they instantly tried to upsell me on a new air conditioning system. I told them to submit the claim first and see what was going on and when AHS comes back with what they're willing to offer then we could talk about potentially upgrading the system. The contractor said no problem. Two days later, I called and I asked, "What’s going on? I haven’t heard back from anybody.” They said they were waiting to hear from me if I wanted a new system. I said that that was not what we talked about at all. They said that it sounded like I'm really upset with them so they were going to cancel the ticket with AHS. That was two days before Christmas and I couldn’t get another company out there to do the repairs.

    The next company came after Christmas, but then, they needed to get things authorized and they were gonna be closed on New Year’s Eve. It was gonna be the 3rd before I was gonna get the air conditioning fixed. The house was without air conditioning for almost two weeks and I was just beside myself. AHS said that I gotta give the contractors time. They get 48 business hours. I ended up having to do the cash in lieu and paying somebody else to do the work. Overall, AHS is awful. I’m not happy with them.

    Someone comes out to my home fast when I submit claims. It’s usually within a couple days. There was a stoppage and instant hot water, and Thomas Brothers was sent out.     I've been with AHS for three months now and I was referred to them by my realtor. Recently, I had a plumbing issue with the garbage disposal where there was a leak. I called in a claim and once I told them the issue, AHS linked me up with High Priority Plumbing & Service, Inc.. And the tech came out the next day which was pretty quick. It was around the holidays, too, so that was good. Once he saw what the issue was, he fixed it. I think he had seen that kind of issue before and he was gone in about an hour or so.     Our hot water heater was broken. It was leaking from the heater itself. Thankfully, all the water is in the pan. B-N-K Plumbing came out and everything went well. The plumber was great and friendly. We needed to get a new water heater and it ended up taking a week. We also had someone from Sears come out for the washer and dryer, and the stove. That claim went fine too, although it would have been nice if they replaced the washer and dryer because they’re 20 years old and on their last legs. But they did their job fine. It just took a lot longer.

    The contractor came and saw two appliances, my dishwasher and my washing machine.     I looked at the reviews and the reviews for AHS were pretty good. So, I signed up with them and I have them since October of last year. Recently, I had multiple issues with my heating and AHS assigned All South Air Systems to come out. The process went pretty smoothly and the guy told me to call him if anything was wrong and he'd comeback. That was exactly what he did and everything was resolved over a span of three days.

    When he first came out, he changed changed out the squirrel cage and the fuse. The squirrel cage in there from the previous owners was beat to death, so he had to change it. Then we woke up the next morning and it wasn’t working again. So, then he figured out it was the wiring and he changed that. Then he changed out the thermostat, so that fixed everything. The tech was very knowledgeable on everything and he explained a lot of stuff to us. He said he had to go get the part for the first day, then it was after 8 o’clock when he came back just to fix it for us. That way, we would have heat.

    My daughter would see water bubbles in her bathroom if I were to shower in my bathroom. What made it worse was she used the bathroom and it stopped up completely and wouldn’t go down. I had to pay somebody again yesterday to come and fix it. I shouldn't have to pay for jobs individually. But that's what I'm doing. I called the company itself. They told me it would cost me $148 for them to come back out here and look at a radiator. And that was the same company that AHS covered. I thought they would be nice enough to come back out here and look at it on their own because they want my business. But they told me no. They said, "Before we even come in your house, it's $148." So they were telling if there was something wrong with the radiator it would cost me $300. So what am I paying American Home Shield for?

    I'm very unsatisfied with AHS. Just because they gave me a $100 refund, that doesn't make thing right for all the bad services they gave me. I had all types of issues. Their contractor for the heating also did a pathetic job. He was supposed to be out here in 24 to 48 hours but they didn't come out here for two weeks. So I had no heat for two weeks. All I got from AHS are apologies. I also got apologies with the plumbing, but the problems are not getting fixed. I'm getting the runaround. When I called they were telling me, "Somebody is supposed to call you, call you, call you." I said, "When is it gonna be, Christmas, when I get the phone call?" I said, "I'm freezing in this house." An emergency call means anywhere from one hour to 24 hours, not two weeks later. I'm paying for services that I'm not really getting.

    I've been with AHS for over four years and I got more of a headache with them than I ever in my life. They get money like clockwork from me. They take it out of my account every single month. I shouldn't have to go through this nonsense. There is no purpose because they wanna charge me for a heat system, and when I say heat system, that means the whole entire heat system you check. The first company they sent me looked at the thermostat, said it's fixed and he left in two minutes. He didn't even go downstairs. AHS has to get their act together. This is ridiculous. I go through this one more time I'm outta here with American Home Shield.

    I filed a claim to American Home Shield on a Saturday or Sunday for an issue with a refrigerator. And then, A&R Services contacted me and said they couldn’t come out Monday, so they came out that Tuesday and everything was repaired the same day. The younger guy was very nice, professional and courteous. But the older guy might be ready to retire. He left a few pieces of trash like it didn’t matter to him and it’s around the holidays. Granted there was a lot of stuff in the house, not to mention the refrigerator broke, so I was using a college dorm refrigerator for everything that I couldn’t. And I did have a deep freezer. But I’m also working on something and he just sat right where I was seating because he had to figure out something. I don’t know if I could come in someone’s home and do that.

    Just as the techs were wrapping up, the lights to the refrigerator went out and the older guy didn’t wanna go to the van to get another light. So I said, “I have a light here. Can I use a different regular bulb?” And I did have a bulb, but they were LED bulb. And the younger guy said, “No. This would not work. Don’t use that in the refrigerator.” So, he went to get the light. I like the younger guy. I felt like if he’s the face of that company. If he’s going to be the face of that company, then they’re in good shape. But if the older guy remains the face of the company, then there’s room for improvement.

    We just bought a house and we had the house inspected, and the dishwasher worked fine. But we had all the floors refinished, and the oak floors totally refinished. First time we ran the dish machine we found out there was a flood all over the kitchen floor. It warped the brand new floors that we put in. We called AHS and a young lady answered and was very good. They sent Basic Appliance Repair.

    The tech was excellent. He asked me what happened and I told him. I had plastic down on the floor and he started laughing at me. He said, “We’re not gonna let it run that long. There won’t be a flood." And he turned it on, and within two minutes he said it was the solenoid in the dish machine that was constantly open so it constantly allowed water to flow into the dish machine, and it never shut off. But he fixed everything. The dishwasher is working like it’s brand new.

    I had a toilet issue, where the handle broke, and I called to put the request in for the service. They automatically charge your card on file for the visit. And then a man called within an hour. When the contractor came out, it was very quick and professional. It went fine. But over the year, we’ve had some claims made where they did not cover the full replacement of an item, and that should be explained better. You still have to come out of pocket for cost. They wait too long to replace items versus repair items. They repaired something for me for five times before they finally replaced it, which was a lot of waste of time and money.

    The furnace wasn't heating. It wasn't working and I reported the claim online at 5:00 in the morning. Then I called at 9:00. Applied Air already had the paperwork and they came at 11:00. So that was super fast. The technician was on time too. He was young but very professional. It was great working with him. He had the motor he had to replace on hand so he switched it and the furnace was working in half an hour.

    But I had a leak under my sink before and when the repair people came, they told me they couldn't repair it because it was not to the code. I didn't understand what they meant by that because I bought the house with the pipe already in the wall. I didn't mess with the pipes. But they said it was cut too short to the wall so they would have to do something. I thought that was crazy because I had a leak and they couldn't fix it. I don't know if that was just a repair company or it wouldn't work with the American Home Shield or something goofy like that. But nothing was resolved. Nothing was fixed.

    I had to go to Home Depot, get some sealer and seal it myself because I couldn't wait for three days with the leak underneath. It wasn't a bad leak. It was just dripping but I was really disappointed with that because I don't know what's with the code and what's not with the code. Who is to tell me? But that claim was a few years back. I had that claim in the very beginning of the services. I've been with American Home Shield for a few years now.

    Two guys from Moreno Plumbing showed up for my plumbing issue and they’re very prepared and personable. They explained everything that they were doing and I’m not an easy person to deal with ‘cause I’m always asking questions but they were very patient. They made sure the problem was fixed and they also told me that if anything happens within the next 24 to 48 hours, then I could let them know so they would come right back out. That’s the second time I’ve dealt with the same people from Moreno Plumbing and they’re very nice people.

    I've had American Home Shield off and on since 1994 and I’ve never really had problems. I’ve referred my dad and he’s had good results with them. I referred my sister and my daughter has it as well. My issue so far is that they don’t have any coverage for water softeners. I live out in the mountain area and everybody out there has water softeners. It would come in handy if they’d cover that and the roof also. Then, the process of submitting a claim is not too bad as I’m a little bit more familiar with it. My dad is in his 80s and I usually have to call for him because he gets frustrated with it. It seems like he gets routed to a different line, and he has a little bit of harder time with it. But for me, I’m a little bit more patient with it ‘cause I know the end justifies the means.

    AHS sent Loyalty Home Services to fix a faucet that wasn’t working properly. I had two faucet handles. One was leaking and one I couldn’t turn at all. And then they did something with one of the toilets. I didn’t have any problems with anybody or anything. It went beautifully. I love it. The contractor was very informative. I’m not used to living in a condo and I had told him that I was gonna try to turn off the water myself and maybe take the faucet off but I realized that in a condo like mine, you cannot turn your water off underneath the sink, and he was explaining to me why. He had to go down to his truck to get another part, but he was right back up and everything went fine.

    I had AHS for two years then I cancelled for a few months because I thought I didn't need the warranty. But then, I got really worried without having it and felt protected with it, so I decided it was worth the cost to bring it back. Recently, I had an electrical issue and they sent out the techs from MaeDae Electric. When they came out here, they were pretty prompt and fixed the issue. However, the ceiling fan that they fixed in my guest room stopped working completely after they worked on it. I tried contacting them and they told me to contact American Home Shield.     Handy Randy was really good, very knowledgeable. Randy himself came out here after American Home Shield sent another company that said they couldn't work on our type of refrigerator. They should’ve asked for our model number and that would have told them. The other tech said he couldn't work on a closed refrigeration unit. So, I was very unhappy because it's very hard to deal without a refrigerator and we had spoiled food, and the house smelled terrible. We had been out of town. This was a disaster for us so I called American Home Shield and said, "We need somebody here quickly." Within two days, Handy Randy came, and within an hour, he had it fixed. It's working perfectly now.

    I've been with American Home Shield since 2008. I have had some issues, I do have some concern. But things eventually get taken care of, even if it's not exactly the way I want it or as quickly as I want it. Sometimes, it takes an undue amount of time. Like this summer in our Colorado house, the air conditioning went out and AHS sent people who were on the other side of two interstates. I don't think they were all that excited about coming that far. And one guy was an apprentice. We have two compressor units outside and he was working on the wrong one. My husband had to take care of it. He rewired it himself because these people said they couldn't do that. So, we got tired of waiting and he finished fixing it himself. But they did put in parts that corrected the major problem. I wouldn't choose them again, but I don't have a choice.

    Generally, I submit claims online. That way, I seem to be able to communicate right away and not get put on hold, and I get an immediate response. American Home Shield just needs to improve on their knowledge about what the contractors can do. And location should also be considered, especially in large metro areas. In some cases where we've had people that have fixed things in the past for us before we had them, we can't pick them. So, I wish there were some way that we had some choice, like they could give me three choices and I could pick one. And then I could look at where they're located and do a little vetting on what people have said, because you can check them out yourself. If you had an option, it might have prevented what just happened.

    American Home Shield sent Kelly Brother’s Electric for our claim on the dryer. I ended up melting a three-phase plug that the dryer goes into. And the plug got stuck in there and it wasn’t good, and so I had to call an electrician to fix that. Luckily, he had the part on the truck and he swapped it out. And so then, it worked again. I said, “Okay, fine. Don’t need a new dryer, just need the plug.” The contractor was fine.

    I had another claim with the washing machine and it was another thing. They were supposed to show up between 12:00 and 4:00, and they didn’t show up until after 6:00. I even called American Home Shield back and said, “You know, they haven’t made it here in their designated time. They haven’t bothered to call me to tell me they're going to be late. I have other things to do and would like to do.” It was a holiday weekend, and I said, “If they couldn’t make it, they just need to tell me they can't make that schedule and make something else. Why make me wait four freaking hours and you still can't show up?”

    The guy finally came and fixed it. It didn’t take him but 30 minutes, but that company, which was Hornet Appliance, was bad. The guy knew what he was doing and he fixed it in no time, but they need to communicate better. I even called their office and said, “Do you have a guestimate as to when he's showing up?” And they said, “Well, let me contact the driver or whatever, the service tech, and get back with you.” I never heard anything.

    I've had good and bad experiences with AHS. But I am more dissatisfied than I am satisfied with them. I had a gas leak in my stove. First they told me, I didn’t have an appliance, and that was because the Realtor or whoever did the paperwork when I went to closing on my house didn’t fill out the right format for the type of home that I own. And so, they said, “Oh, no, you have a single family home.” I said, “I do not. I have a townhouse. It is attached to another townhouse.” I have had issues with them since day one when I tried to use them. I had two different people come out and look at my stove. I ended up just spending the money myself and buying a new stove because I had a gas leak. And I had somebody else try to fix it or try to call it in, “Oh, you need to call the gas company.” It was just pass the butt BS.

    Then, when I needed to get a plumber out because I had about five things, they were gonna charge me about five different service fees for each thing I needed a plumber for. One was a slow drain, I needed my garbage disposal checked because it wasn’t working, and I needed the washing machine faucet for the washing machine. The hot water thing was frozen on it and corroded up, and I couldn’t get it off to get a new hose put on it. They wanna charge me $75 for each little thing I needed him to do, which to me was absolutely insane. If they want to charge me two, it was fine. But they wanna charge me for like four. I needed him to change the guts in one of the toilets, and I had the parts for the guts. I had everything I needed. I ended up just calling an independent plumber myself and didn’t wanna deal with it.

    I've had good things and bad things. One of the good things is when the people do show up, they at least know what they're doing. The washing machine problem and the electrical issue on the dryer were not a problem. But when it came to the gas stove, those people were lazy as hell and didn’t wanna do their job. I thought, “Well, what's the deal? We're talking a gas leak.” I had my sister moved in with me since and she's on oxygen. I don’t need oxygen and gas mixing and blowing my neighborhood up. And I tried to explain this to them, but it's like they wanted me to call the city. They should have the tools to check something if it's leaking or not. I'm used to living with electric appliances, and I moved in the house and it had gas. I can smell the gas. And so, I was a little freaked out. I don’t wanna die of carbon monoxide or whatever else could be going on.

    I had Air Pro Heating & Cooling come out and take a look at the furnace. It wasn't a very good experience with them because they never got back to us. I ended up having the tenant call them. That's when we found out they weren't qualified to fix it. This went on for over a week. I called American Home Shield after I found out this gentleman couldn't fix it. They in turn tried to get ahold of Air Pro. They couldn't get ahold of Air Pro so that's when I ended up with Reliable Heating & Cooling. They contacted me, went in and fixed the whole thing.

    I would like for American Home Shield to improve in the fact that I have to pay $232 because they didn't cover certain work. I'm paying for a replacement on all heating and air conditioning. That's not right. If they can't fix it, they're supposed to replace it. That's what they say. They didn't completely fix it for nothing and didn't replace it either. I'm not very happy with them right now considering I have two contracts with them.

    Everything I’ve had to call American Home Shield for has been taken care of and I have no problems. The last thing that I had done was have my washing machine checked. It would fill with water and then wouldn’t rotate or turn off. It wouldn’t do anything. We had to unplug it. Affordable Appliance Repair came out and the guy had to replace a pump. But he didn’t have one and had he to order it. He explained that it was gonna take him a couple of days. It took about six days and the washing machine is fine now.

    Samsung 9600 washer broke. 45 days and 4 service calls from THREE different AHS repair companies they tell me it’s a manufacturer's defect and not covered. REALLY I would have just bought a new machine. I called Samsung even though it was 6 months out of warranty. They agreed to fix it free. Took the man 10 minutes and it’s fixed. Call AHS to get my $75 back and was told no. Never had an issue before but this was total incompetence on their part. I’m very dissatisfied with AHS. Shame on them. The part that fixed it cost $125.     In early December we submitted a service claim for our dishwasher. On Dec. 31 a technician came to our house and stated it was toast and needed to just be replaced but he was required to submit a full report and repair costs to AHS. We called AHS on 1/3 since we had not heard anything. They promised a update before 1/6. We didn't hear anything again so we called on 1/7. They had messed up and had not submitted the claims. So again on 1/10 we called again because we had not been updated. They said they approved a repair and that parts would arrive to the repair tech by 1/13 and they promised to give us a call by then. Again -NO CALL.

    We followed up on 1/15 and they said they didn't know where the parts were and couldn't actually track them. We called the repair tech who stated that they are required to order from AHS and they would have the tracking info (he said/she said). After more phone calls and chats (side note - we have spent so much time on hold and have been hung up on more than once) they had no answers and refused to transfer us to a supervisor or manager and they stated they would tell us the same thing (contact the repair tech for an update). Still have no update and a broken dishwasher.

    My Air conditioning unit stopped working. I PAID the $100.00 fee for their repair service to come out 2 weeks later. The tech told me it would cost ME $1000.00 to recharge the unit and Home Shield would only pay $100.00 of the $1000.00 and it would be @300.00 to repair the unit. I told them I could get it recharged for about @300.00 so just do the repair and I'll take care of the rest. They said no they cant do that which is fine. I told American Home shield to just pay me the $300.00 plus the $100.00 for the recharge and I'll do the repair with a reputable A.C Company. They offered me $100.00. The same $100.00 I already paid them for their Tech to come and tell me they won't fix it unless I pay the $1000.00. What a SCAM. I had my A.C. repaired and recharged myself for $300.00. And haven't received a penny after they left without AC and heat for two weeks.

    I had a leak in my bathroom and I called Home Shield because I wanted Lexus Plumbing to come out. They solved the problem. I've had such success with them. When we find a good contractor, I kinda have to call my claim in. Sometimes that can take over an hour. But calling in the claim is the kind of thing where I need confirmation that I'm going to get who I need. I've been with Home Shield for so long that I know what I'm gonna get. I was a little surprised by the water heater cost. But I've heard that that wasn't their strength. So I ended up pretty much having to buy a new water heater. But on the other hand, the air conditioning part is kinda why I got involved anyway, because they have been able to fix my air conditioner to keep them working. And that's important when you have an older house.

    When I make a claim, I call in, telling them what the problem is, and then they assign me someone. The company that they assign me to calls me and accepts my claim for them to come out and look at my issue. The first time I had to have someone come out for my AC was not a very good one. The guy packed up and walked off because he had been here for two hours and couldn't give my husband an answer as to what the problem was, and he was continuously on his phone. I called and reported that and told American Home Shield that I never wanted to see them again. My husband has had their protection plan for a long time already, and when we got married, he suggested that we do it for our other home. I was then reluctant to do it, and so you could imagine the taste in my mouth after that first guy who came out.

    So, the second gentleman that came out was very nice and was very thorough. He was from HVAC Repairs, and he took care of the problem and fixed it. Someone else also came out today for my garbage disposal. The guy had to get permission from the company for something, and he said that I would know by tomorrow. Overall, I'm satisfied with this company.

    I have insurance on both of my first home, which I already sold, and my current home at the same time. I've been with American Home Shield for going on 20 years already, which is a long time. I have recommended them to friends and some of them have actually got the service too. But sometimes, the Home Shield people working as the operators have a communication problem and it's hard to understand them. Their English is not that good, so that can be a challenge. Also, they sometimes may not have a sense of urgency when I have a major problem at home, especially when it’s hard to get people out. It's sometimes frustrating when dealing with them. But overall, I’m not disappointed with them and I can deal with what’s going on so I would still recommend them to someone.

    One thing they need to relook at is compensating customers when the customer has been inconvenienced really bad, and especially when the customer has been with them a long time. Either we can’t get in touch with their service people or whatever it be, AHS doesn’t try to compensate for the inconvenience. That’s very bad when they have people who have been loyal to them for a long time because sometimes it’s not about the advertisements. It’s also word-of-mouth. Not trying to compensate somebody for a bad experience because of the people that they have been sending out is sending a negative connotation to other people, especially if the customer talks to someone.

    I had a bad experience with Furnace Doctor that they sent out to fix my heater. This iteration has been terrible. The company Furnace Doctor had to come to my home at least four times to finally get my heater right. And then, the gentleman yesterday who came to fix up my home, he tore up my entrance to my attic. So, I thought they were very unprofessional. The heater is fixed now. It’s just it took them four times to come out there and fix it. And one time, they were supposed to call me back. They never called me back, so we went without heat for about three and a half weeks. So, it was just a bad experience. And then, the gentlemen come yesterday, he fixed it, but then, he messes up my entrance to my attic, and then it was like nonchalant, like, “That’s not that serious.” My ceiling in my house is messed up and looks horrible. My house is only four years old.

    He said that they have insurance, so I don’t know what that really means. He wrote it down on the paperwork, so I’m gonna reach out to my company today. I think American Home Shield needs to reach out to them and everything. I shouldn’t have to do it. But yeah, so my attic thing is messed up and everything. He didn’t come prepared. He didn’t have a ladder. I had to provide him my ladder. He was a big dude, so I think what he did was when he went into the attic, you have to lift yourself up.

    But a lot of the times, there’s two people that come. So, you got somebody holding a ladder so the guy can get all the way up and everything instead of trying to grab up on those boards to lift himself up. Especially if you're a big dude. He was a big dude. So, I think because he lifted himself up on it and everything, that’s how it ‘caused it to break.

    Sundance Services get a A plus for me. That young man was on point. It was for a pump plumbing problem. As a matter of fact, the first people they sent out did not do a good job. But the second one that came out, Sundance, that came out, the young man, he was very professional. He did an excellent job. My shower was draining real slow, and so, the other people just wouldn’t take the thing off. But basically, he done a great job.

    We had an issue with a furnace earlier in the year, and that was mostly out of my pocket. I wish there was a broader range of what's covered. When American Home Shield says the furnace, they just mean the actual furnace itself. We had a lot of piping that had to be replaced, and none of that was covered. I was out $1,500, and the furnace was only about $600. That was a little disappointing. Recently Mr. Clean Drain Plumbing had to replace the wax seal on a toilet upstairs in our house. The tech was very professional and helpful, and there are no more leaks now.

    The water heater was no longer making the water hot. A-English came out, diagnosed it and fixed it. The technician was very informative and patient with me. And he got it going for a couple of days until he could get the heater, but he said it probably wouldn’t last, and it didn’t. But the water was getting warm. It just wasn’t getting hot anymore. He said that was what would happen, and he tried to get the heater as quickly as possible, and he did. With the new unit, so far, so good. It’s left on warm, which means we have to run it a little bit longer before it gets hot. But that’s actually the safer part. It was what they recommended -- to stay on warm.

    They made sure that they let me know what was going on and assured me that they would take care of it in a timely manner, and they did. It was right into the Christmas holidays, so he was assuring me. He said he was gonna put it in, and they should be able to get it on a certain day and if I didn't mind, he probably could go on and do it Saturday, so they wouldn’t be going into the holiday -- Christmas was gonna be on that Wednesday. I said if he could do it Saturday, I would sure make myself available Saturday. And that was what he did.

    Shenandoah Appliance Plumbing & Electric have absolutely been awesome. They’ve responded immediately and they’ve been able to schedule within 24 hours whenever I talked to them. As a matter of fact, the last time they called me, I asked if they could come that day and they said, "Yes, we’ll be there.” They’ve been awesome. The tech came out, did what he could, got a part and fixed it. We just moved into this house and I've only had American Home Shield for a month. Their claims process was easy. It was all online. They didn’t like the first plumber’s assessment and sent out a second one. We didn’t have a choice in that.     I was out of hot water for about four days, and when I placed the initial call AHS got somebody out to me right away, within 24 hours. So that was good. And it’s wintertime here, so I appreciated that. And then I have an experience with another property wherein a microwave doesn't work. It was American Home Shield that initially replaced it for me. But you can’t tell its serial number or model number or what make it is. So that one wasn’t replaced because nobody could ever tell me what the said details. The person that they had dispatched to fix it couldn’t tell, either. So now, for me to replace that, I have to make another call to American Home Shield and pay them. But overall AHS is definitely good to have. I would recommend them.

    Serenity Appliances was very nice. They did really well the first time and they fixed one part of the problem. When the tech had the other needed part and came out, it was the wrong color. He had to order them again since it wasn’t a match. So, that was two more weeks we had to wait, and then the part came in, and we missed several calls. We had a lot of traveling to do and I just don’t think that we could ever get on the same page as far getting them to our home when we were here. They figured it wasn’t gonna happen, and it never did, so they never fixed the whole thing. They closed the account and we had to get Sears to come out. When they came out, they had the part in their truck already, and they fixed it right then.

    When I submit claims, it's usually online and I love the website. It's very easy and fast. Then, I'm given a couple of days to expect the contractors out. And all of the contractors that have come out have all been wonderful. When we bought the house, the warranty came with the home as it was part of the deal. We've kept it so we've had American Home Shield for 4 years now.

    When I was having a leaking situation from the toilet, the contractor ultimately checked it out. The issue was a loose bolt and it was just a matter of tightening it. They were able to resolve the problem quickly and we haven't experienced any issue with it since they came. Moreover, they came on time and were quick. They also called before they came as was promised. The little bit of a heads up was helpful because I have dogs. If I were to call another repair person, it could be a lot more cost versus paying a service fee, which was why we renewed with AHS.     Filing the claim for my kitchen faucet was straightforward and easy. It wasn't working correctly. It was like there was too much pressure and it just busted. A plumber came out to look at it, but he did not properly explain things to me. He said that he'll submit the claim and then AHS is gonna replace the sink. I called back because it was denied and found out that he told AHS that to make the faucet break like that, it had to be blunt force. I said that was absolutely not true.

    I like that I was able to get a second opinion. And I really appreciate the second plumber for being respectful of my time and calling me when he was on the way like he said he would. A lot of times people just show up. He stayed there until he got it done right. Moreover, he was in and out and wasn't there for very long. He showed me how he put my faucet back on and about the water pressure. I'm pleased with AHS so far.

    The heating system was not working properly so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The first time I called, someone came out and looked. They told me that there was a part that I had to pay for and that they were gonna call me back and give me the amount. They never called back. They never did anything at all. I had to call American Home Shield several times for them to call the first company. And after the fourth phone call, American Home Shield finally decided to give me a second opinion and send someone else out. And the last person they sent out, who was from AA Dependable Appliance Service, was on time and did a wonderful job. He fixed the issue and everything was perfect.

    Overall, American Home Shield is good but not consistent. You'll get someone who's gonna respond to you right away. And then you call about something else and they don't respond right away. Even the sales people sometimes don't understand what I'm trying to explain to them, and I don't understand them. And I find myself having to repeat the same thing over and over to them. And when I say things to them, they repeat it word for word back to me, which is frustrating.

    When Keith Powell Heating and Cooling came out, it went fine and we were very pleased with the technician. They made contact and said when they were gonna be here, then they were here when they said they were gonna be here. The tech had to order a part and he said that it should take X amount of time to order it and that they would be back in touch with us as soon as the part came in, in which they were. Then he came out and reinstalled it. The process took a matter of a few days and it was not long. I was very satisfied with the timeframe because we weren't without heat. We had another means of heat and we used electric heat. But it would have been a different issue if we would have been without heat to have to wait a couple of days.

    We've had American Home Shield since last July and it was recommended to us by a real estate agent. The only thing was we thought we were buying a very comprehensive policy when we bought our policy. We came to find out that there are some things that are not covered. When our fireplace area was leaking during a storm, the guy on the phone that took the initial call said, "Well, I'm sorry. That's something that's not covered." That wasn't a real positive experience. But then the second time we called about the AC, they said that they would have somebody get in contact with us the next day which they did. So, I would wanna talk to somebody before purchasing the policy again and have a better, complete understanding of what exactly is covered and what is not covered.

    A month ago, I had a plumbing issue and the guy from A&B Plumbing and Home Services came out, did what he was supposed to do, and he was in and out in 30 minutes. I was surprised because I thought it would be longer than that. He explained to me something about the pipes and a piece came off, and he replaced that piece. He said when it was put in, they had it that way because it was one of the older models that they don’t use, and the new one doesn’t do that.     The customer service rep I spoke with when I filed a claim was very good and Island Breeze came out the next day to replace a part in my furnace. The contractor seemed to be very competent. It took him a week to get the part and everything’s working fine now. It was a pleasant surprise after my last experience with AHS. Six years ago, my dryer broke and it took them five weeks to come to the conclusion that they couldn’t fix it, and they sent the same guy out here three times to come to that conclusion. In addition to that, during the course of those five weeks, their customer representatives lied to me. They said that they hadn’t heard from the contractor. I talked to the contractor directly and he told me that he called them repeatedly and he had been told that they couldn’t get the part.

    As it happened, my mom was in a nursing home and she had very sensitive skin, so I had to do all her laundry. And people who are 95 years old generate a lot of laundry. So, I had to take my mom’s laundry to a dry cleaner, which was enormously expensive, for five weeks. Finally, I told AHS to cancel the subscription, pay me whatever the dryer’s worth and I’ll go on about my business. At that point, they suddenly became responsive. So, I talked to somebody who would actually respond to the issue. Based on my experience, American Home Shield is gonna do whatever you can make them do, not necessarily what they promised they’ll do on TV. In other words, they didn’t have to send for the part from Japan, the dryer was only four years old. For sure if there were parts, Whirlpool will have it. So, something was very wrong.

    My heater went out and Home Shield sent Greenway who was prompt in getting out the same day. But the follow-up left something to be desired because it turned out to be a breaker issue. They removed the breaker and said they would get back with me regarding setting up an electrician to replace the breaker. Two weeks went by, I've never heard from them. The heater went out again last week but I didn't bother calling Home Shield. I called an electrician and had it replaced.

    I've been with Home Shield for six years and I've had one bad experience. My experience with them has been an A, but a ball was dropped on my most recent claim. Also, I prefer to talk to a live person when I submit a claim. I like accountability in their name and sometimes, when it comes to electronics, things don't get picked up.

    I like not having to pay full price for things. I got American Home Shield about two years ago when my house was turning six and a half. I figured I’d just cover myself thinking the builder used the most inexpensive appliances. One time, I had a garage door guy here but he refused to fix the garage door because he said it was an electrical problem. My husband was a journeyman wireman before he retired, and he told the guy that it was not the GFI but he didn’t believe him, he refused to do anything. So, we brought the electrician out just to prove that it wasn’t the GFI and it was the garage door opener. Then the garage door guy had to come back again and said, “You need a new garage door.” And they left again, and came back. They were back-and-forth.

    One day, they told me they’d be here between 3:00 and 5:00, so I went out about 1 o’clock and was planning on being back by 3:00. They called me and said, “We’re ready to come over now.” And I said, “You told me between 3:00 and 5:00. I'm not home.” I was getting a manicure, so it was a little hard to leave. He said, “If we can’t come now, we’ll have to reschedule.” So they rescheduled and we rescheduled twice, because they screwed up the second time they rescheduled. After they got the garage door opener, they said, “Oh, we forgot to put you on the schedule.” That piece took a while. But that was more of the garage door company than American Home Shield. Except for some of it, because American Home Shield requires people to try and fix things before they fix anything.

    We had to have a toilet replaced and that took a while, too. They guy had to come back a couple of times, then to get approval, etc. It would be nice if they could get everything done at once. Since my husband was in the electric field for so long, it did irritate him that people leave and come back because he said that you don’t leave a job half-done. It was fortunate that I wasn’t working right now because I had to keep rescheduling. I would’ve had a tough time doing that if I had been working. The electrical guy was great though. And the guy who came and finally put the garage door in was nice as well. He did a really good job. Overall, anytime I’ve needed American Home Shield, they have been here.

    A couple of lights in the basement didn't work, and there was a hot switch going outside. The contractor who was sent out fixed everything. American Home Shield has always been awesome.     Our AC stopped working and Cool Factory came out. They were great and they fixed it. This claim went okay and we're pretty happy but we had a claim for our dishwasher which was a disaster.     I went online and requested service for the dishwasher that was leaking. Then I got a text message saying who was going to be contacting me to set up an appointment. That came almost right away and I like the way that worked very well. The service guys contacted me and set up an appointment. That went real well too. Once the tech got here, he found out he did not have the part, so he made an appointment to come back. Then he installed it and it hasn't leaked since.

    When I go online and request the service, the form doesn't allow me to really say too much about what's wrong. For example, we have a double oven floor model and the lower oven just stopped heating. So we put in the model number and requested the service, but until the guy got out here and did his research, he found out that he didn't have the part. That took a little bit longer because it was ordered then someone else took the part for something else. That took almost a week to get squared away. If there's a way to add a little bit more information about what is wrong with the unit, it might help in shortening the repair process. Otherwise, everything is really smooth. American Home Shield works like clockwork so we renewed. I was kinda surprised that the monthly fee went up 'cause I don't remember getting anything saying that it was gonna increase. I researched it and figured out what it was. It would be good to notify the customer.

    When I bought the house, the owners had AHS with them. And I continued it because things continue to happen because the house is now 11 years old. Everything’s okay with AHS. I haven’t had any issues except with that one contractor who kept coming out here. He was awful. He took two weeks to fix my refrigerator. When he came out, he didn’t show up on time. When he came out here, he unplugged stuff and just left it and said, “I have to order this part and it’ll be here on this day.” I took that day off to be here, and he let me sit here all day until I called at 3 o’clock on that evening and he told me the part didn’t come in.

    And then, American Home Shield had to end up calling him because it was two weeks I went without a refrigerator. So, when he was supposed to come back here, he once again showed up late and I told him I had to be out of here at this time because I have a doctor’s appointment. And he showed up 20 minutes after the time that I told him I need to leave here by. I had to cancel that doctor’s appointment because I had to stay here while he put in the part, and it was ridiculous. It was not good all the way around. I called AHS with him standing here. I said, “He is never coming to my house again. I don’t care where you have to fly somebody in. That man will never come to my house again.” Recently, my refrigerator quit working on one side, like the actual refrigerator part of it quit working. And Masters Appliance Heating and air came out and I love them. It's been doing great since they came out.

    The guy AHS sent was very knowledgeable. He was very good at explaining things. He also came on time. Initially I called the gas company and they said it was a leak in the appliance. So the guy checked for the gas leak and there was no leak. He told me that maybe by mistake we had kept it a little bit open, that was why we got the smell. We had other issue where two of the burners were not working and he explained why it was not working. He cleaned it up and he was able to correct that problem.

    The double oven did not seem to be working. Kinston Refrigeration came to take it out and to make sure what was going on with it. The guy documented and they tried to order something but they could not. So, American Home Shield ended up replacing the whole oven.     I submitted a claim to AHS and their contractor, Lonestar Appliance Repair Services came out to do service. They came out twice for my dryer. The first time, they replaced something but then the system was frying after that and it wasn't until two full cycles until jeans would dry. I explained to Lone Star what was going on and they came back out and replaced the heater elements.

    So far, I haven't had any kickbacks when submitting claims to AHS electronically. However, I would get duplicate emails telling me that service would contact me from a certain company. Also, I wouldn't get contact from the said company but then I'd get an email saying the same thing as the texts. Usually, I have to reach out to AHS's contractors. For my AC claim, I reached out to the contractor directly after making the initial electronic request to AHS and they told me that they would send a tech out.

    Overall, I'm satisfied with the timeframe of AHS' contractors. They're extremely busy but they work around my schedule. They’re booked up during the week and they try to do the repair then but there's no way I can be there. With them, I can set a schedule in advance for 1 o'clock any Friday and they say yes. They're expedient and very technical. They know my problem by the symptoms I've given due to a previous experience they've had. I like that they narrow it down to one or two issues and they’re not wasting my time or theirs. With AHS, I can always know how I can tell what type of service I need. They give me options. They do quick and straight business. They make sure my issue gets repaired in a timely manner and correctly the first time.

    The sink was leaking and I submitted the claim online, but the website crashed about four times while I was trying to do it, so the website wasn't so great. It said it wasn't available. I could submit the claim, but it wouldn't submit the claim. I called AHS and they told me to wait a few minutes and it would come back, and it did. Once I waited, the site came back and it was working and it was fine. It told me to expect a call within 24 hours. Normally, I get a text the same day.

    Atlantic Appliances was really good. They were going to supply a new faucet for me because the parts were not available. I have two faucets in my master bathroom and it didn't match at all. I told them that I couldn't put that in here. One of our faucets is $600 and they were giving me a $75 faucet next to it. The tech said that they only have this certain amount of money for a faucet. I told them that I would buy the faucet, and they could install it. So I ordered the faucet and they came back and installed it. It was great. I was very satisfied. But I wish AHS covered TV.

    I bought this house seven months ago, and that was the reason I bought the American Home Shield policy. They tell me the life of the units are pretty close to right where they are now, so it’s almost like we’re waiting for the clock to tick and for them to each take a turn going out. I’m not sure how it’s gonna work at that point in time. I had a representative from Trane out here to look at their systems, and he had been a previous field person. They’d done work under American Home Shield, and he told me a bit of a horror story. He told me that if there is a leak in the condenser and they have to take it back to the shop and it takes two weeks to fix it, I’m without air-conditioning for two weeks. That's not what I signed up for, but I don’t know if that is correct or not.

    Recently, one of the three AC units would not start. American Home Shield was quick about getting somebody assigned to come out, and once Integrity got it in their schedule, they came out and took care of it. The technician was absolutely top-notch. He was as good as I’ve ever seen, met or talked to. He communicated well and knew exactly what the issue was. Every time we turn it on now, it’s running.

    I had another heating person come out to say that they had some pilings of carbon monoxide. I had the heating people come out and they didn't see anything. And then I had Multnomah come out and they didn't see what the first guy saw either. He checked everything out and told me that my thermostat communicates and if it was clogged like the first guy said, my heater would be giving me errors. It's strange to have two different people say two different things. But he explained everything well to me. He was very friendly and very professional.

    I also had American Shield come out for electrical. The guy that came out also looked at my other appliances even though he wasn't called out to see them. He noticed my dryer vent was one of the hard ones and it was kinked over 50% closed. He recommended one of the flexible ones and then the dryer would work better. The flexible one was put on, and now the air flows through better. I've had really good experiences with them. When I submit a claim, AHS has always set it up within a week, which is quite timely. And on the one day they had a cancellation, they were able to come out the very next day. I've had such a positive experience with AHS that I put it on my other rental home right away.

    Dubs Appliance Services came out for a refrigerator claim and they were great. I’d use them again anytime. My problem with AHS is that they authorized a new refrigerator because they couldn’t get a part for this one. They sent me via email the information on which one they recommended and some other options. So, I studied that for a couple of days and I decided that I would order the one they recommended.

    On the email, I pushed the order button and heard nothing. This was about 10 or 12 days ago. I had this funny feeling in the back of my head because I didn’t hear from anybody. And somewhere I had read I would get an email. So, I started trying to call, which was not easy to get through. They want you to use the computer site and I tried that one but I didn’t get anywhere either. Finally, yesterday morning, after 50 minutes on the phone, I got through to them and found out that they didn’t get the order. Then, the rep said that they couldn't get what I ordered anymore.

    I had just been to Lowe’s and looked it up. I just thought I’d order through AHS, it was gonna be delivered, and I wouldn’t have to do anything. Also, I didn't wanna put that on my credit card. The guy at Lowe's told me there’s plenty of that model number. But the AHS rep said Whirlpool said that they don’t have it in their warehouse. She recommended a General Electric and I said I didn't want it. I don't hear good things about them and I’ve had several guys that work on refrigerators, they stay away. I said I was gonna go back to Lowe’s. The unit had been on sale when I saw it last week. Fortunately, yesterday it was, so I ordered it from them. Then, I immediately went to the UPS office and emailed the receipt to AHS's email so that I can get reimbursed.

    I’m glad it wasn’t something bad. The refrigerator works just fine. It was the icemaker. If it had been the refrigerator, then I probably would’ve gotten it here so I could get it delivered right away. But as it is, it’s still gonna be a week. I’ve had good service from AHS through this whole thing. And I had another warranty company at one point that was awful. So, between that one and this one, there’s no comparison. It’s just that it’s hard for me to believe that they didn’t have this model after five days or a week. They emailed me pictures and specifications. They gave about 10 different options and so, that’s hard for me to believe.

    On December 14, 2019, I contacted my warranty company about my washer not working properly. Today, January 14, 2020 my washer is still not fixed. I have a family of four and multiple family members that visited over the holidays and did not have the use of a washer. I have contacted the company multiple times with little help. The first repair company took my report of the problem over the phone and never responded to my home to inspect the washer. The part took 3 weeks to come in.

    AHS offered me a payout to fix the washer on my own, not to replace the washer, or wait on the part. The repair service did attempt to fix the problem and was unable. That company recommended American Home Shield replace my washer. AHS decided to get a second opinion. The second company no showed and no called on my date and time scheduled. When I contacted the second company they stated the didn't have my phone number, I was on the call when AHS gave them my number. I have contacted AHS several times over the past month attempting to speak with a supervisor. Today I was denied the option to speak with a supervisor. I will be canceling my policy and contacting the BBB.

    Don’t use American Home Shield. I have had a contract with American Home Shield for about 5 years. It took 3 months to get my microwave replaced and now it’s already well over two months with no refrigerator. I am 80 years old and I have a large family that comes to my home for the holidays. Imagine the inconvenience and suffering my family has gone through this holiday season. Pizza delivery just isn’t what a holiday dinner should be! I have called numerous times and spoken to numerous people without any success. Each of these calls takes hours, not 1 but 2 or 3 hours. I have spoken with American Home Shield, Whirlpool, and JB Hunt. I have escalated and spoken with supervisors and each of these companies without results. It’s a shame to say the least. Nobody ever calls me, I have to call them just to get another useless status. 3 months is far too long to go without a key appliance, it’s why I purchased a maintenance contract.

    I'm disappointed in AHS. I have a heater and every time it would get really cold, my heater would shut off. AHS kept sending R-Tech out to patch it up. I kept having to pay $100 cause their grace period expired. Every time their contractors would come back they would put a little part in it and a week later, it would go down again. Finally, after years, I changed up and told AHS to send me a new contractor. He put a new mold in and fixed my issue.

    Another time, Home Shield sent a contractor to fix my toilet because something was leaking. The water department said my water was too much. My water bill was running up to $187 and I’m the only one living in my home. The tech came and fixed my toilet but then three weeks later, the water department said I still had a leak. So, they sent another tech out and he said the man that fixed it didn’t fix it right. That time, I had to pay another $100 deductible. It feels like every time AHS' contractors come out and they're supposed to fix my issue, it's not fixed and I have to pay a deposit again for somebody else to come.

    Additionally, the people whom I call for customer service at AHS aren't from the United States. It's hard for them to understand what I'm trying to tell them. Eventually, I would get somebody that is over here in the United States and they would clear my issues up for me. I know AHS is trying to save money which is why they go out of the United States but I’d rather deal with people over here ‘cause they can understand when I’m trying to explain what’s going on.

    Having American Home Shield is very effective. They're small monthly payments and when you need it, you got it. The washer recently would not turn on and Calvary came out for it. I did the claim online and I'm glad that American Home Shield has that instead of having to wait on the phone. I wanted the tech to come out on a Saturday but they said they had to come out sooner. They gave me a block of time from 8:00 to 12:00, and they came at 8:00. They were very professional and courteous.

    When our AC was not functioning, we called American Home Shield and let them know. They told us when to expect the contractors out as always and J&J Mechanical came out. The guy was a little rude to my husband, and my husband didn’t like that. We were talking to him in a certain way and he just ignored it. So, while I don’t have an issue with American Home Shield, we didn’t enjoy having J&J Mechanical.

    AHS has been sufficient and they’ve fixed things. I've been with them for 19 years and at the end of every year, I look at the warranty and wonder what it would cost me I didn’t have them. Some years, I do well, and other years, they do well. So, it has worked out together and the service has been good enough that I’ve continued it. So, I’ve been reasonably pleased each year.

    Recently, our AC unit was noisy and the tech from May Heating & Air, Thomas, came out. He found that the compressor was bad and AHS okayed the replacement. Then, he came out and put the new one in, but the noise remained. So, he came back, put in an electric fan motor, and it appeared to go very quiet. Since then, we found that the noise is very slowly coming back. In fact, I was on the edge of giving AHS a call, but I’m waiting to see. It seems to be worse in the cold weather and so on.

    Aside from that, it cost me $900 to replace the compressor because it required so much fluid. It was in the contract that I would pay for that and I understand that but what I thought should have been a $75 claim turned out to be $975. So, that kinda got my attention. Thomas is an expert on this but he missed an awful lot here. He was very well-intentioned though. In fact, the guy came out on the 31st of December at 6 o’clock and that’s pretty darned good. So, I’m not nailing him through the wall, it’s just that I’ve paid $975 and I still have a rather noisy air conditioner. That’s a concern.

    Also, of all of the things that we’ve had, our recent claim on the AC is the only one I can remember that’s had an ongoing situation. Almost always, when a guy comes in, he fixes the problem, then he goes home, and that's it. But that is why I’m not irate about the whole thing and I understand how it happened. I have recommended AHS to a few people, too, and most of them were happy I did. They were a couple who called and said it didn't work out so good for them but most of the ones that I referred kept the warranty at least for a while.

    When I filed a claim with American Home Shield, Do Right Plumbing came in about a week. The contractors were very professional and friendly. They would explain everything that they were doing. We went over what the services were and they let me know what was going on. I had some toilets with some different things- the pressure and the mechanism. I also had a faucet in the kitchen and the water heater. They came in and fixed everything. One of the toilets was not flushing all the way. You have to sit and hold. The contractor adjusted it. There was something with the mechanism and then it worked okay for a little bit. It regressed though. With our hot water heater, the water would get hot then it would get cold. It lasts a little bit longer now. For the kitchen with the faucet, he adjusted a weight and that helped for a little bit, but it's still not functioning properly. I'll just call them back though.

    I submitted a claim for my microwave that wasn't working through my account on AHS' website. The website was easy to use and as soon as I submitted my request, AHS sent me an automated email telling me that my ticket was submitted and that their contractor, Atlantis Residential Services, would be in contact with me within the next two business days. Atlantis called me the Monday after the Saturday I submitted the claim. They gave me a window during which they would provide.

    Atlantis was on time with their appointment and they arrived towards the beginning of the timeframe they provided. The techs told me what was going on and were very professional. We had to order parts and because my microwave was so old, the parts they ordered didn't fix it. AHS then passed my claim to the next contractor who would be replacing my microwave. Their rep called me that same day asking questions on dimensions for where the microwave was going to go and then sent me an email with a list of five or six different microwaves to pick from. That contractor was out within the next week which was pretty fast. It has been beneficial having my AHS warranty.

    Submitting claims to AHS online has been easy. I can submit claims online and call them also. I submitted one recently and Budget AC Heating and Plumbing came out to handle the claim. The first day the tech came, he didn't know what the problem was so he didn't have the part needed for one of my toilets. Somebody else came two days later who had the parts and changed the flapper. It would be better if AHS had a smaller time window for service. Still, we've renewed twice with them.

    I've had two plumbing companies out. The first one came because we were having a leak just outside our front door area. The plumber who came took care of the leak but then said that the regulator in our house needed replacing as we were getting too much pressure. The second time, I had a leak around my kitchen sink from my garbage disposal. The second plumber took care of the disposal and took a look at the regulator going into our house. He didn't have the part in his truck so he decided to catch another call, check back with the warehouse and let me know later that day.

    But then, there was zero communication after that. There was no follow up. We thought he was coming back but that didn't happen. I tried calling their offices around 5:00 that day to get some kind of update. There was no answer. I left a message but then I didn't get a call back. I got a call the next day which fortunately I was home to take and the tech came back with the part. He took care of the job.

    With AHS I wish that if they had one plumber come out and I have to do a follow-up claim, they would stick with the same plumber unless I ask for somebody different. That would avoid confusion. Also, while the plumber they sent was at my place, I couldn't place a basic claim right then and there to have them do more work. I have to pay extra for it as another claim while they are at my place. Certain jobs could have been easily done on the first day the contractor gets here.

    Omega Force came out a couple of months ago and it was the same guy that came out for our most recent claim. It was fine. He fixed whatever last time, but then he came out, and it was Christmas Eve. He said, “Oh, I wish I would’ve looked at my notes ‘cause last time it was either this part or that part, and I could’ve ordered it.” We had to wait until New Year’s Eve to have it fixed. It was not his fault. I feel like American Home Shield tells him to just do the basics, and then it’s our responsibility to call back if it’s still not fixed, which is frustrating. I didn’t realize we only had two months to call. It was four months when I called.

    The whole situation has been frustrating. My oven’s finally working great, but our fridge went out. There was something wrong with the motor. It had to be because it was super loud. My husband said don’t even bother dealing with American Home Shield and that we'll just go buy a new one. But I said I don’t know what we’re paying them for then. I submitted a review after being charged $100 and them not taking it back. I got an email from someone at the company, and I responded right away. They still haven’t responded. I got a 14-day past due notice yesterday. So, I called again and whoever I talked to on the phone assured me that the $100 would be taken care of. I don’t want it to get to the point where it goes to collection because I don't want it to be bad on my credit report. Also, they charge me monthly for my fees, and I don’t want them to just auto charge it, and then for me then to have to go back and fight to get it back.
