The techs that came out recently for our claim were good. They’ve come out several times before. We've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years. The only thing that we don't like that they changed is when we have to get an appliance. We’re having to come out of our pocket more now than we used to. But I like the website of AHS. We've been using this for quite a while. It's really easy for me to go in and do it. But, they should have an option to have more than one credit card.

There was a leak under the floor in our closet. We called AHS and their contractor came out the next day. They made it stop leaking instantly then rerouted a pipe through the ceiling to go somewhere else. It was a different company that did all the restoration. All that was quick and easy. We also had an issue with the oven where an oven light wasn't working and a garbage disposal that stopping working. The plumbing stuff went really well but everything else was terrible.

ATR General Services Corp came out to do service. Setting the appointment up with American Home Shield was easy. We just scheduled a date and time and then they gave me a window and the technician came. The technician did what he was supposed to do and gave me suggestions. Everything was good and then he went on. I got American Home Shield for assistance with things around the house so I wouldn't have to pay large out-of-pocket expenses.

I've had some not-so-good experiences before, but the last one was really amazing. The gentleman that was sent was really great. It started with the AC shutting in and out. We thought it was the thermostat. But it wasn't. There was water that was overflowing. The company was responsive. They called me the next day and had somebody over that same day when they called. Before, the company that I was referred to when I had other things taken care of, it would take weeks down the road, and I was still trying to get in contact with them. When the gentleman came, he realized that the AC was just clogged. He took care of it in about 10 minutes. He was very pleasant.

American Home Shield worked on my side by side refrigerator about five times. They just kept changing in parts, replacing parts, but it never worked. So, they just replaced the item. They brought out a refrigerator. It was too large for the capacity in order to get my side by side refrigerator in and my gas oven. They won't fit. So, I'm having to change it out. They're working on that now. Before I submit my claim, I've had to change the paperwork.
American Home Shield worked with me well. Every time I called and placed in the order, they respond within 24 hours. Unless it was an emergency like when I had something wrong with my pipes under the sink in the kitchen, they sent out someone that day. The service technicians are excellent, professionalism and know their job. They're in and out. They clean up behind themselves. I do appreciate that. Once the job is completed, they're on their way. I have not been dissatisfied with American Home Shield. I've told my church group, my girl group and anything I'm affiliated with about them. If they don't have it, I usually bring it up.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that is knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

We were having some occasional smells coming from our backyard where a septic system was. Then the bathroom closest to that septic system, which is a master bedroom toilet, would just back up every third time. We would have to plunge to get it to move solids through. What the tech determined was that it was the mechanisms in the toilet that wasn't allowing enough flow to water. He didn’t pull the septic lids. I've been checking there. He didn't think that was necessary. He was very nice, very polite and explained things well. I got nothing but good to say about him. That was not my experience with some of the vendors that AHS has. In fact, I've got one vendor on my list that I do not want to use. Other than that, it's very easy to submit a claim to AHS. I normally do it online. It’s easier. I've had American Home Shield for a long time in several homes and I wouldn't do without it. They're really friendly and I've had a good experience.

There was an issue with the spin cycle on my washer. American Home Shield sent in a guy to see what the problem was and he saw that it would take so much manpower to fix. So, he put in the request that I should just replace it. Then they came back with an email saying that they would help pay up to $627 for a new washer. So, I went to P.C. Richards and purchased the new one for a little over 1,000, and I'm just waiting for the reimbursement portion from the insurance company. Overall, I'm okay with American Home Shield. When I call them, they come out and they send people out to inspect or do the work. But sometimes, they don't really have control over the technicians that they send. The first technician did the work but he wasn't a nice guy. But the second one was really nice.

I had a claim in July for the dryer. The dryer was turning on but it didn't heat. The company came in and fixed it. Then in October, the same exact problem happened again. So I called American Home Shield back and I told the rep that I didn't think it was fair for me to pay the $75 because it was the same problem. It was only three months. She said that they were gonna send a different company and try to fix it, and that I didn’t have to pay for it. But now they're charging me for it. Axis came in and they fixed the dryer on Monday. But it wasn't working again on Thursday. So they called again. The same person came back and fixed it. Now, it's working. The people at Axis were great. They were really nice. But American Home Shield is still trying to help me pay for the first call to Axis.

The heat was not working and when I looked at the furnace, it looks like there was no fire. I attempted to do the claim to American Home Shield online. But I made an error. So, I called in and a gentleman was able to assist me. I had the service scheduled. He had informed me that the contractor would be contacting me within 24 hours to schedule the appointment. With the instructions, it says if you’re unable to wait, you could simply give a call to the individual. I did that because it was cold. The guy that came said that he had to lit the furnace for some reason. He tried a couple of times because initially, it was not working out the first time he did it. He used his expertise and got it to eventually lit.
When the guy was here, it was not an uncomfortable conversation. He was friendly. He was very understanding. I asked him questions, and he replied to me. Now, heat is coming from one of the heating vents, but not the other one. I was going to call about that to inquire. I do know they have a policy where the contractor is able to come back within 24 hours of the scheduled thing. But I did not notice that the heating vent was not working.
American Home Shield's reviews were great. I like to read reviews before I attempt to make any investments in anything, and the reviews were mostly positive. You can't satisfy everyone out there. But for most part, the reviews are positive and that's what I went by. I did have one interaction with American Home Shield that I did not like very much. I called in and I was requesting questions as in regards to my account being on a certain status, and the status would be absolved within max 30 days and so forth.
I was speaking to a young lady and she had me on hold for about 10 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, I was rerouted back to the standard queue of the regular queue. Then I had to repeat everything, what had happened and why I was calling. Eventually, that young man that assisted me the second time around was able to follow up with me. He also confirmed that if the call would be dropped, he would reach out back to me, which he did. That definitely balanced out the whole thing.

The contractor was told before they came out to the house that it was a vaulted ceiling. I had two light fixtures that had gone out. I had requested them to come and check the wiring to the light fixtures because I was having an ant problem and ants were coming through those light fixtures. The guys came here but they didn't bring a tall enough ladder. They flipped on the light switch and said, "They don't work." I said, "Yes. That's why I called you." They left and when they did, they said, "We will get back to you. We'll bring a bigger ladder."
A couple of days went by and I hadn't heard from them so I called them. They said that they were calling AHS to get approval to replace the light fixtures. I said, "How do you know the light fixtures need replacing? You haven't tested them yet." They said the guys claimed that they went up there and put wire testers on them which they did not. So, I called American Home Shield and said, "I don't need them to replace my light fixtures. I need them just to test the wiring." American Home Shield was arguing with me telling me that the guys had already tested the lights and I said they didn't. They charged me the $75 fee and closed it out. They said, "We're complete because we won't approve the light fixtures." I told them nobody had done anything yet but American Home Shield told me that I was lying, that they had come out and done all this work.
I was trying to explain the issue to the young man that I got when I called and you could tell he was reading something that's written in front of him. He just kept going over and over. He kept arguing with me and nobody was believing me. I proceeded to go and get my son's tall ladder. I climbed up there and realized that the ants had busted the light bulbs and the entire light fixture was full of dead ants. If they had gone up there and tested those wires like they said they had, they would have found what I found. I cleaned all that out, replaced the bulbs in it, and everything's working fine.
I've left messages and nobody will call me back. The lady did send me an email and said she'd call me this morning. I told them I did not need an electrician for that. They were willing to send out a second electrician. I told them I've already fixed it even though the wiring had never been tested. That was my big concern getting my wiring done so that I didn't burn my house down. I wanted my $75 back because they charged me $75 to flip on the light switch. I did respond and say, "If you wanna take that $75, put it on a new claim." I've got a bad breaker. It didn't trip the first month I lived here and all of a sudden, a breaker in the kitchen just trips for no apparent reason. But I'm very hesitant about calling American Home Shield because they have literally called me a liar now. I'm very dissatisfied and I wouldn't recommend them anymore.

But this last time was fine. I did it by phone and set it up, pre-paid the $100 fee, and the contractor came out. He said that the washer might still show a little bit of leak because the pan underneath that still could have water. I saw a little bit of water, but not enough to warrant calling him back to come and re-repair. We're keeping a close watch on it to make sure that everything that he did took care of the problem. Submitting the claim for my air conditioning unit was quite easy and user-friendly. But the techs seemed to be a little bit too vague for a consumer in regards to understanding what was problematic with it and they were a bit mysterious as to what needed to be done. They did not give a type of rapport that a consumer like myself may want to call them back out again. So I chose not to utilize their services and went with a different company that I booked on my own.
We had a claim for my refrigerator and it was awesome. I would call that serviceman out again, a million times over if I could. We had an awesome rapport. He was very friendly. My biggest thing with American Home Shield is the people. Every time I call, they get the same thing wrong. Every time, they're consistent with it. They always have the repair going to the wrong property. There's always a representative that doesn't speak English or isn't fluent with English. There’s nothing wrong with not being their first language, but there are people that are not really good with the language. If you're frustrated because something's not working or something's broke, it is extremely challenging talking to someone who doesn't understand English.
As far as the contractors, there was one guy that just came today. He was awesome. He was cool and well-mannered. He had a mask. I also dealt with a representative from General Electric when they came to fix my washing machine, and it was horrific. First, he showed up late. He gave me a humungous window. With COVID, most people aren't working. I'm in the government so I'm not working a full time schedule. So, I need my money. So if I'm going to take off, I'd like it to be with the intent of I'm thinking off because I'm getting something accomplished. This fool showed up at the midnight hour, which was the very last minute.
When I called in, I knew what was wrong. But apparently I didn't know the trick. The trick is not to talk to the computer. There shouldn't be a trick when dealing with customers. Because I talked to the computer and it never asked me what was wrong. Even though I knew what was wrong, and I can articulate what was wrong. I was only forced to talk to a voice automated system where it didn't even ask me that question. Again, the representative couldn't speak. That was frustrating. Then they sent the guy to the wrong address. Then when they got that done, the guy showed up to my house just to look at it and say, “I ain't got the part.” I was like, "I could have helped you out with that before you showed up.”
Then it was explained to me, “That's the process. Next time, just speak to a representative.” I was like, “Okay. Well, that's good to know on the front end instead of the back end.” The other issue was he lied to his company and said he never showed up. Then I said, “No, he was here. And American Home Shield kind of played the middle position. I didn't send the contract over to my house. American Home Shield did. The guy was lying. I have a video record of him showing up at my door, knocking on and coming into my house. Otherwise, I just let somebody show up to my house in full uniform and work on my washing machine.
The guy said I missed the appointment, which was completely false. I really feel like these are people you send in to your customers. So if there's an integrity issue where they don't want to be honest, I still have the video of him knocking on my door and I was even asking, “Hey, you want me to email this to you?" He identified himself as GE and he came in my house. That was a scary feeling if he wasn't from General Electric, and he came in my house after giving all of that information to American Home Shield.
On a good day, I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield. On a bad day, I'm dissatisfied. Even though today worked out, I gotta take all things considered. The lady took my information. She verified my address twice. She got it. She can't screw this up. Then my tenant called me saying, “Hey, Ray. I got a guy here trying to fix my garbage disposal.” The lady couldn't give me a receipt for my refund. I paid for those two work orders. It was one for the garbage disposal and one for the cooktop range. I could, in theory, end up paying $400 for two service appointments instead of 200, which I should have been paying.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

So far, so good. It is working. The only concern I had was, and maybe it's my fault for not saying anything, the cover itself is not covered. It's shattered but it didn't get replaced. Because of the heat, the bolts that are on there fried. I've had to glue it back with epoxy quite a few times. But the people that were sent out were qualified and knowledgeable of fixing the problem. The last service was really poor.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that is knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

The AC unit wasn't pumping out the heat that it was supposed to. At first, it was troubling because the contractor couldn't figure it out, but they eventually did. They fixed my heating service, and it was awesome. They were really good. I do my claims online and it's been a smooth process. You type in the information and say what you need fixed. Immediately, you get a response from the people who are coming to work on your house. Whoever set it up streamlined it perfectly. American Home Shield is one of the best investments I've ever had to do when it comes to that type of service. So they are gonna have my business for a long time. It’s always been a good type of experience. Even if it's something simple, it didn't matter. People always come in. They resolve your issues. It's nice to get your stuff taken care of and fixed when you've been dealing with it and you kinda forgot how it works.

Our oven went out and when the techs came, they both had their masks on. They looked at the oven and figured out what was wrong with it. They had a part in their truck and replaced it. We've only used it about twice but it hasn't blew up and it’s still working, so that's good. The techs were very nice, polite and did everything they were supposed to do. The furnace guys also came out, which was an extra charge. But the guy who checked the furnace was very good and knowledgeable.

American Home Shield has a great claim process and I really love the online system. I made a claim for a dishwasher issue and a tech came in less than 24 hours. He was very professional and quick. The guy knew what the issue was immediately. He left to go pick up a part and came right back. He fixed the dishwasher for us that day. It was awesome. The dishwasher has been working great since then. I really liked the service with American Home Shield. I also like the reminders like when they send, “Clean your heater,” or “Do an AC check.” I tend to do all of those. It's just kind of a maintenance thing. I'm really happy and will definitely renew my contract.

My dishwasher stopped working. I went online to submit the claim. I put in what my problem was and then waited for an email to tell me that a service company was chosen. Then they called and scheduled an appointment. The guy came on time and he was in here less than five minutes. With dishwashers, they send out someone to troubleshoot first. So the guy troubleshot the problem, found out that they needed to order a part, and they have to come back whenever the part comes in. I'm still waiting for the part to come in and for them to finish the process. Overall, everything has been pretty good with American Home Shield. I've only had two claims so far. The other claim was for my sump pump and it was very easy too. But there's still water sitting in there. It doesn't seem like the sump pump drained all the water out.

American Home Shield is useless. There should be very clear-cut things if we're going to do more than multiple repairs. I called them to come out here to do a tune-up. When I called and asked, I was told that it's $75 because it's just that one person that's coming out here to do that but I got charged $225. They should've disclosed that I was going to be charged $75 for each unit, not $75 per service line. I've not been happy with American Home Shield since the start of all of this. Prior to this, I had no problems with them and I had them for years. But with the purchase of my home, this has been a disaster, from the way that it was done at closing to how long it took for the contract to be up and going. I had to pay out of my pocket for two toilets to be installed and flanges to be replaced because they did not have anything together on their side.
I don't know that they need to be involved in mortgage. Whenever you do a purchasing of a home, I don't know that that's their strong suit. In the past, I've always purchased it myself, so there have never been issues. I was promised in the beginning when I gave them my loan number as far as communication for my warranty and they weren't able to help. They didn't find me. They said they would call me back but nobody ever did. That really had me very upset. When I finally did get my documents which was probably about three days later, they had the check and they told me everything was to be done online. When you just recently closed on a home and you've already got some issues going on, it shouldn't be like that. It was two toilets I couldn't use at all.
Hi Betty,
I hate to hear about your most recent experience to have the repairs completed for $75. I would be glad to speak with you and discuss the issues.

I had a leak in the master bath that was causing water to seep underneath the luxury vinyl tile. I did a service request to American Home Shield online. The process worked. I have used it many times and the latest three times, it worked really well. Each time I've used the system, I've gotten a response. The first time I used American Home Shield, I was very disappointed, and I almost did not renew my contract.
I live in Baldwin County, Alabama, which is down on the coast, and I had an air conditioning problem in the middle of the summer. The air conditioning was completely out in a rental home. So the renters are looking to me to get it fixed. I called American Home Shield, and their provider was out of Birmingham, which is four hours away and couldn't get there for a week and a half. In that case, I cancelled the call, requested a refund and considered seriously canceling my contract with them. I ended up hiring somebody local that came out the next day and I ended up having to replace the unit out-of-pocket. That was a very disappointing service call. They did refund my service contract fee and I still had the service contract. They didn't cancel the contract, and I didn't insist on it.
I recently had a problem with the microwave in the rental home, and they sent somebody out. It was gonna be a week and a half before they could get there, but the microwave’s not as critical as the AC in July. So, the homeowner was willing to wait. The microwave was Whirlpool. I had thought it was GE and when the microwave technician came out there, he said, “I only work on GE.” So he left.
American Home Shield then contacted me and scheduled another person. He was supposed to come out this Wednesday. I have not talked to the renter to see if they were able to fix it. This is the second microwave that's gone out in like two years. So, we think it's an electrical problem and that was what I conveyed to the last person I talked to about it.
The most recent claim was the plumber who came to my home where I was living, and I was here at the time. He was dressed nice. He was clean. I was very impressed by the fact that in order to resolve the issue, he had to remove the commode and replace the wax seal, which is what I thought was wrong. He brought in a piece of cardboard to be able to sit the commode onto after he removed it so that it wouldn't dirty the floor. Then when he finished, he made sure the floor was as clean as it was when he got here. It was very impressive.
Overall, I've had three issues where I sent service requests for. One, I've been very satisfied with, one, I was totally dissatisfied with, and the other is kind of unresolved at this point. They're very responsive in terms of if you put in a ticket. But another thing with AHS is they've been hounding me for $125 service call. Every time I put in a service request, I authorize payment of the service call. So, I'm not gonna pay them another $125. I don't know what it's for. Rather than wait through their telephone system, they'll eventually call me looking for it and I'll find out what it's for. Then if it's due, I'll pay it.

I called American Home Shield right after Labor Day about my dryer. I had four service people come out. The first one told me it needed parts, and then they had to order the parts. I had to wait another two weeks, then the parts came and somebody came out. He told me they needed additional parts. Then the third person came out and he said that it wasn't the right part. Six weeks later, somebody else came out and told me I never needed a part. I got a delivery the other day and I was gonna call. The first part that they ordered came. I got a double order of them, and they were ordered back in September.
I've been with American Home Shield since forever and I hardly ever used it. I only used it one other time and I had a good experience. But this latest one was horrible. I was six weeks without a dryer. I have people coming, going and telling me different things. It was very inconvenient. I had to keep on taking off from work, which was even worse.
It took too much for somebody to hear me. I would call, ask for a supervisor and they would say, "Yeah, yeah, yes, somebody will call you back." Nobody called me back. I did get my payment back and somebody did come out to check on my heater. I do appreciate that. That was very helpful. But overall, they could improve on their communication. When somebody asks to speak to a manager, they should be able to speak to a manager.

American Home Shield has been very helpful and anytime I've had an issue, they've sent somebody out very quickly. I had a front-load Samsung washing machine and it kept throwing an error code. It ended up being that it had wobbled and the motor had burnt out. The repair would have been more than what a new washing machine would cost so AHS replaced it. I ended up with a different name brand but the same style of washing machine. So, I'm very happy with it. The guy who came out has been out to my house prior. It’s the second time he's come out for the call because he works for Sears, which is usually who AHS ends up sending out in this area. He was very knowledgeable and cordial. I knew the guy before and he does a great job. He knows exactly what he's got to fix. It's a quick process. It’s easy to submit a claim with AHS. My appliance was heating up then there was smoke. I called American Home Shield and they gave me the number of Appliance Express Repair. I called and got an appointment. I asked the tech who came what was wrong. He said the appliance can be fixed. He will write a report to American Home Shield then will reach me within a week. The technician told me that someone else from another company would be sent to do the installation.
AHS offered me a reimbursement. They will send me a check that will equate to the same amount if they are the one buying the appliance and installing it. But I wanted to know if we ask someone to install the appliance, if that would be included in the reimbursement. So I called their number and the rep I spoke with told me she didn't know because it was for a different department. She transferred me to the appliance department but no one was picking up the phone. I waited for more than an hour and this was during office hours. I figured since I didn’t have anyone to talk to then I’ll just get the cash then I’ll submit all the receipts including the installation. I ended up doing things online. The claims are simple, but if there's an issue with finding supplies or parts, American Home Shield has zero follow-through. The only reason I get any indication is 'cause the people that have been assigned have been communicating. My AC was bad and it took close to a month for us to get an AC. It was nobody's problem other than the supply line was backed up for new ACs, but Lundy called me up every other day to keep me informed. They were very involved in making sure that it got done. By far, it was incredible customer service. They replaced my AC and the guy did a fantastic job as well.
On the other hand, I got a pool heater issue that's been going on since August and I still don't have it resolved. The only time I get anything is when I call and I have to get nasty. I'm sitting right now waiting for this pool heater, and the supplier is saying that it's not approved. I called American Home Shield last Thursday and they said, "Yes, it is approved." I told them to call the supplier and get this resolved, but I still don't have an answer back from anyone. It should be approved. The only reason I bought the home warranty was to make sure that the pool heater was covered.
I also know all about call centers 'cause my wife is an executive director of a huge call center, but I'm not sure where American Home Shield's call center is. I'm not that guy that's prejudiced. I hope they use whoever is best and costs most reasonably, but it's difficult at times to communicate with the call center. 75% of the time, the accent is so strong that I can't complete the call. They are extremely difficult to understand that I have to call back and get somebody else. I travel the world, so I'm familiar with accents from all over.
It sounds like I'm not satisfied, but overall, I'm satisfied with the service. If the thing is broken, there's never a question. They replace it. My $4,000 air conditioner unit broke in my house and they replaced it. No questions asked. It took a month, but not because of anything other than supply. That's a very positive thing for American Home Shield. They do a good job when it comes to that. At my wife's house, she had a dishwasher that be couldn't fixed and they replaced it. I'm satisfied that way.

The lady gave me the wrong information about what the maintenance person was going to do. When the tech arrived, he was very apologetic and polite that that was not a service that they provided. But he fixed the garage extremely fast. He had his mask on and worked very quickly.
But I’m a little bit upset with AHS because I have had a non-working freezer since September. I kept calling the maintenance company that they sent out here. They showed me that AHS approved for me to have my refrigerator replaced. I have not been able to reach them in all of October and November because I'm unable to stay on the phone for an hour wait-time. I've asked if somebody could pass a message that the department that replaces appliances would call me but I have not received a phone call. Also, I've sent emails to customer service.
I'm really upset with them that they have not reached out to me. I had to go buy myself a small refrigerator while I wait. Who wants to make that extra expense? It's been a huge inconvenience. The same thing happened with my stove. I went for eight weeks without a working oven with five kids at home. I was able to get through because I was on a long car drive and I stayed on speakerphone on Bluetooth. They apologized and said they should have called me.
I've been with American Home Shield since 2013. They always had the best service that’s why I've stayed with them. But as a person that's been with the company for nine years, I've seen the decline of their service. I will not renew my plan with them. I’m researching other plans to see if there is some better. It’s a new house and we didn't understand how the thing even works. But some of the contractors that I had thought they were on the network, but somehow it didn't seem to be, and they could have done it. The guy who came for the shower said that he needed to contact American Home Shield to see if he can get approval for additional work in which I don't have running water in here. It's been that way for a couple of weeks now. Since the storm, it was off and on. I had to get some repairs done outside because the pipes busted. I had to take care of that myself. We didn't have water for three weeks. And now, here we go again. I really do need water.
The guy just came Friday, and I did speak with American Home Shield and they set up for someone to come. He came over but the problem is he's going to have to take a wall down. Because he has to take down a wall, he has to get authorization for that. Other than that, the service has been great. The timing was not too bad. Everything has been going great because anytime that I've made my call to American Home Shield, someone is here within a week, and sometimes in a couple of days. That's very good, especially being where I'm at. We just had a series of storms that came through here.
What's beneficial with American Home Shield is that if something does break, they have the resources to find parts. My home was built in 1979. I had a range that had broken down at one point. I really loved that range. Even though it was older, American Home Shield was able to find the part for that oven in which when the contractor came over, he said, “Oh, well, this is an older model and I don't think that we'll be able to fix this. Because I've looked and I can't find parts." American Home Shield found the part. So, I was very happy about that.
I tell everybody about them. Even when the storm came and I found out that people didn't have homeowners insurance or any type of insurance for appliances, I told them, “You need to get American Home Shield.” I've had them forever and they have never failed me. What I also love about American Home Shield is they always follow up. They'll send me text messages and keep me informed, which I really love because especially now, you don't know who’s coming to your house, but they give me the contact information. They keep me abreast of what's going on.

Another one of my problems was the light fixture by the front door. That hasn't been working since I've moved here. They took a look at that and had educated me on that, gave me a lot of education, and told me how it was missing a piece. I might as well just take it down and get a new one. On my job when I was working, I heard different people talk about warranties and they mentioned American Home Shield. I tried it and I've been with them for a while. Their service has been good. I saved money when I had to get something done. When I requested service, the process was good. The last claim I requested was for a clogged sewer line. I told the man that when I flushed my commode, things came up in my tub. When the service people came out, it was under there that I had a water leak. I said there was no water leak. I didn't have the outside cleaners so they went on the roof. But that didn't work so they had to go up on the house and do some things. The problem finally got fixed.

I had a leak and it took me less than five minutes to submit the claim with AHS. Submitting it was simple online. Bestway Mechanical called me the same day but I didn't answer the phone so I didn't get in touch with them until the next day. I called them on a Friday and they came out on Monday. The guy was professional. He looked at what needed to be looked at and diagnosed the problem. It turned out that my shower drain in the upstairs bathroom was leaking and was causing damage to the ceiling below it. He fixed it and he was done in less than an hour. This was the first claim I've had to file and it's been a great experience so far. The response time from the time that I submitted my claim until someone actually reached out to me was relatively short.

My youngest son and my youngest daughter have had American Home Shield for years and they recommended it. I got a policy and one time, I had four problems. I went online, filled out the form, and then the plumbers called me on the same day. They were out on Wednesday and took care of my problems. One was a leak in the bathtub in the master bedroom, and they showed me it wasn't a leak at all. Another one was the faucet in the master bathroom was dripping, and they replaced it. I had a loose faucet in the kitchen as well, and they replaced that faucet too. Also, the toilet in the family bathroom would fill up on its own. It was loose and there was water leaking from the bottom. They rebuilt the mechanisms in the tank and removed the toilet. They must have replaced the seal underneath it and then they put some caulking around it and put it back. They were done in less than two hours and it seems to be working.

North MS Appliance Repair came out for two separate appliances in the last year. Both have been excellent work. We had a recall on my refrigerator. It worked for about four days and then it went out. It was powered on but no coolant. So I called them back. The lady that answered was really awesome. I was contacted 7:30 the next morning by them and scheduled the time to come out. The tech replaced the compressor and it's going good. I've never had an issue with the gentleman. He was very professional. When he gives you a date and time, he's always there. He does a really thorough job diagnosing. I like him a lot.
I like American Home Shield's services a lot too. I don't mind paying my monthly fee to be covered. We’re not leaving any time soon. We're more than happy with them. We looked at different options through different websites. But at the end of the day, we felt that American Home Shield would best suit the family. We got a pretty good size house and four kids. I wish we would’ve known about them sooner than what we did.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

The guy who cleans my pool told me something was wrong with the pump. I don't know anything about it so I call up American Home Shield. They sent me out Dunks. The tech came and he did a professional job. He spotted the problem right off. I hardly ever had any problems with American Home Shield but in the beginning, the problems that I did have weren't covered. I was getting kinda disappointed because I called them up a few times on certain items and they said, “I'm sorry, it's not covered. It's not covered.” I talked to my wife. I was about to find somebody else, but I kept them on. I need insurance, but I didn't think I needed somebody to keep telling me that it's not covered.
When I call them, they could tell me right off the bat if the issue is covered or not. I pay that $100 up front, mechanic comes out here and looks at the thing. He calls up American Home Shield and they tell him, “Oh, it's not covered.” Now, I already paid $100 for the guy to come out here to tell me it's not covered. I’d like to know beforehand. All these home warranty guys are about the same but you can’t do without them.

I had H and J Heating come out and do a tune-up. I showed them where to go, started inside and looked at the HVAC. They went outside and he came back and said everything was fine. He turned the heat up and he said it went to the designated temperature within five minutes. One time, a plumbing company that was originally located in Waldorf came out and they were absolutely horrible. The company didn't show up on two different occasions and then never called me back. I contacted American Home Shield and let them know what was going on. They dispatched someone else out, but it was a whole issue trying to get them to let go. Different AHS representatives totally different things. Eventually, the contract got sent to someone else and they fixed the plumbing issue. For the most part, our experience with AHS has been decent. I haven't had any problems with doing claims and they don't spam me with emails.

The claim was that the water was leaking from the base of the refrigerator. It was the waterline. I put that in. It was hard articulating that because it wasn't the ice maker, so there was no place to put it. Our water dispenser is connected to our ice dispenser, so I just had to pick that and refrigerator. I didn't know what to pick. Home Shield called, "You have two refrigerators?" I was like, "No, it's just the one. I just couldn't select what I really wanted to submit the claim." But they came out and it was great.
The only thing is it was a 12:00 to 6:00pm window. I had no idea when the techs were coming. I'm here between 12:00 and 6:00. And when I had a call earlier, it was four o'clock. I'm like, "Okay. When are they coming?" "So, yeah, they'll be there by like five o'clock." I'm like, "Oh, okay, that'd be good to know." Because she said, "Oh, he's got you at the end of the day because, in terms of his round, probably you're at the end of his day and where he's traveling from." I could have helped my wife take my kid to therapy instead of hanging out and waiting.
And I get it, with the windows, this is not typical, but it does help people with families. You can let me know if it's gonna be at the end of the day or the beginning of the day because I got other stuff I can do. But the guy was awesome. He came out, very friendly, got to it right away. He was done quick. He fixed where the one leak was. Unfortunately, the waterline was 10 years old anyway. I had to call him back out because it re-leaked like the next day. But they couldn't get anybody out until today. It would be great if we could have gotten back out before the weekend. But we couldn't, so we had to wait until today to get them in. But he did a great job in fixing it again. He had to replace the whole line this time. Perhaps he could have done that in the beginning.

I have a 20-year-old house that I bought in May. It has two HVAC units. The upstairs' unit stopped producing AC. Up until that time, it produced AC all summer. It was over the course of the last couple of months that had been hot, cold, hot, cold so I did go from heat to cool a handful of times. The guy who came out was very helpful and got it working. He showed me the pictures of all the buildup. He said that when you switch from AC to heat, there's some sort of relationship there where you fall out of tolerance. It would not turn on due to the buildup. He then cleaned it up with some material. I have two intakes and the intake for one was a little bit under the wallboard footer. There was no filter in there. No one could change it. He created a way for me to filter it at the unit then remove the filters at the intake. It enabled me to solve the problem of the issue with one of the intakes. It was great.

The oven had been out of service for almost two years before American Home Shield finally had it replaced. It was a real pain in the behind. They would always be ordering parts to put on it but it never works. I was trying to figure out why they kept getting these parts. As a matter of fact, I had like two boxes of parts. When the service came to put the stove in, I just gave them the box of parts. AHS paid more money trying to repair than they did when they finally decided to replace it.
The reps were always nice whenever I could get through but it took forever if you call them. They're a big company and they get pretty busy especially on the phone until finally, they listened and had the thing replaced. The last lady that helped me got the ball rolling. AHS has always done their best to help me and my husband with issues that we've had related to our home. They've always come through. I’ve had bad experiences with companies that were coming out here that were not very responsible and weren’t helpful. But I’ve learned over the years, as I request for certain services, to request for somebody or a company that had a 4-star attached to their name. If I had any plumbing issues, it would normally be Blue Star who I request to come out. They’ve been really good people to work with. They came out for my most recent claim and the plumbing system isn't making any noise anymore.

I contacted American Home Shield because my furnace went out. The initial process of getting things scheduled was fine. I had one company come out and did diagnostics. The tech was here five minutes and left. That was kind of concerning to me so I called a company out on my own. The diagnosis that the company from AHS gave me and from the company that I sought out for myself were totally different. I went back to AHS and asked for a second opinion. They sent out another company and that company had the same diagnosis as the company that I sought out for myself. But the problem with that company was that they didn't follow through with sending AHS the diagnosis so that the problem could be fixed. American Home Shield sent out two companies that failed to do their job.
At that point, I was really ticked off. I live in Chicago and at the time, it was getting cold and I needed a furnace expeditiously. Finally, they sent out a third company. The tech agreed with the other two companies about what needed to happen. He followed through, gave the diagnosis, and we finally got the furnace replaced. It took well over a month to get that done. But AHS's customer service - trying to do what they could to help me - was fine. They're a good service to have if things go wrong that is not of your doing. They will replace the items or replace most of the cost for the item. They need to maybe do a better job of finding more reliable companies, though.

They did their job, then came back to the front door and told me this is what it was. All they had to do was replace an external fuse that was out on the control box for the AC unit out on the house. I bet they weren't there a few minutes. They did a very good job. I expected the worst and it ended up being a very okay experience.
I’ve had more than one claim. I've got a lot of equipment. I've got four air conditioners, four hot water heaters, and three refrigerators. I got a huge house and a swimming pool, and I've had some claims. I have been very satisfied with Home Shield, and I have referred a number of people. The toilet was stopped up and the first time a contractor came out, the tech said he unstopped it but the toilet was still backed up when they left. Also, they took the water key and opened up the manhole for the water. They left the key thing out there in the middle of the yard. I was flustered about that because somebody could have walked in the hole and it could have been me. Then when they did the water faucet, it still was leaking.
Since I've had Home Shield, I've been having some problems whenever I call for service. I was gonna cancel the service and go with another provider that does the same thing. I had it with the last one and when I called in to cancel it, I told the rep what happened. She said they'd give us a new contractor and to give them another try. Somebody else came out the next day and he said the other guys didn't do it right so he fixed it. And then he unstopped whatever it was that was stopped up. They had to send more than one person for the same thing that should have been fixed when they came out the first time.
Also, they were supposed to give me a month free and a coupon. October was supposed to be not a charge and the rep assured me but they charged me for October anyway. I called about it twice and they still haven't refunded my card. When I called the last time, they told me that it would be credited back within seven days but it's been almost three weeks. Then when I called to try to use the coupon, they said they don't know anything about that. But they figured it out and they called me back. They told me I do have a coupon and that they would take care of it. What they tell you and what they do are two different things and every time I call, it's an hour wait. I can't go online for my problems because there's no place online for me to say I don't want a certain contractor or that they charged me when they weren't supposed to. It only allows you to click the service that you're requesting.

Our heater went out from a key fan component and submitted the claim. Luckily, I've had issues with the actual partner reaching out before AHS had assigned, but they called in the morning because we have a newborn, and so obviously, no heating in Denver is not good. They were to the point and diagnosed it and due to not having the part because it was a critical piece, had to order and even had to get something down in Colorado Springs. That pretty much turned it around in a day. They were able to get out after getting the unique part, fixed it on at least the timelines they stated, and it was nice service. They're one of the best from any type of claim the last couple years we've had.
Sometimes with some of the other claims, I feel like if I didn't make the point of reach out, it's like we didn't get called for a week. Some of American Home Shield's partners sometimes can take a while in terms of not prioritizing. That's the issue. One other time AHS closed the claim out for some reason when it wasn't, but it could have been resolved pretty quickly with some quick phone calls. The knock is we've had to sit on wait times for 30 minutes with them. But they've been good overall.

We refused because we do know how to do it. Them he said, "Call your warranty company. They will assign you another provider." So I started to call from October 29 to warranty company and told them the situation, they keep telling me that it will Be escalated and somebody will call me to change a provider, since that day I called there every day and been told same script information from trained to talk like a robots Malaysian customer support representatives.
Company located in US but all customer support located abroad. They do not have any rights to change provider or anything else. They just keep telling somebody will call me to resolve issues. No one called! Every day when I called them they promised again and again to assign other provider but today on November 13 when I called they said finally that they cannot fix my dishwasher because I need to pull it out and after service install it back and they do not cover that, if we are the customers would not do it so they cannot service us.
Dishwasher was a serviceable item per agreement. So this company is bunch of scam. If something will break they will find many ways to refuse to service you. This warranty does not work at all. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! I’m still open for resolution. If they want to talk they can call me. The first time the contractor came, we thought we had the plumbing issue fixed. Then within a week, it was still being clogged. So the tech did the exact same thing. He put the auger in it and then he realized what was going on. The little flipper that goes up and down that holds water in wasn't tight enough. That was the reason why it was doing that. So he recalibrated that and it works fine now.
American Home Shield does their job. But I hate to have to go to third parties. I assumed that they give you a list of places that you call as opposed to getting someone on the line. It's too much having to run around for me. Making the phone calls after American Home Shield makes the phone calls and people getting back with each other, as opposed to just direct calls to the company. When you put the information online, you get a number and the process takes too long. It's not a perfect system, but it's a business. They're trying to make money. I sent a claim in for my microwave and the company that came out was very good. It took about a week for them to come out. They could’ve come sooner but I wasn't gonna be here. But since it wasn't anything that you couldn't live without, it was okay. They had to order a part that needed to be replaced. I had to have them come back out because they didn't put the microwave in correctly. It was crooked. The framing around the microwave was the problem. But I couldn't tell that just from looking at it. So they came back out and they fixed it.
I get very, very frustrated trying to get in touch with people at American Home Shield. I like to talk to a live person and you cannot do that when you call in. I do not like that at all. Most of the time, if there is something really broken that has to be replaced. Like one time, I had to have my hot water heater replaced and it ended up costing me $400 because they said I needed all this stuff. But later on, I found out that I didn't. They just needed to bring a new hot water heater and hook it up. There was another time with the hot water heater where they made me replace it. But there was actually nothing wrong, except the main breaker outside had flipped, and they didn't check that.
The major thing that happened that made me get frustrated was the people that American Home Shield sent out were not always reputable people. For example, my heating system was not working right one time. The contractor told me it was the thermostat and they were gonna replace the thermostat. But they replaced the thermostat with a heat pump thermostat, and I don't have a heat pump unit. After that, I quit using American Home Shield for my air conditioning and heating. American Home Shield has been great. They handle everything right away, and they've always had somebody out the very next day. They had someone out who fixed the pool pump. Somebody came out for the air conditioner, too. But the air conditioner was pretty old. They did fix it and got it running again, but we opted to put in a brand new unit. So, we went ahead and called somebody else and had them come in and put a new unit in. Then, this week, we had some type of a plumbing leak on the pool pump, so somebody came out and fixed that. We've had AHS for a little over a year. We had bought the house in October of 2019, so we got it at the time of the sale and then I renewed it this past month. We're gonna sell this house and purchase another one and I'll get another home warranty through AHS.

Our central air conditioning quit working. I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and I had no problems. The tech who came out wore a mask, social-distanced, and was able to analyze the problem quickly. Luckily, it was something small and repairable right away. And everything was good.

The service took a little while, but that's okay because I live in a small town. But the service that I got was wonderful. Asher was great. He has worked with me before. He has been over five years ago. He knew what he was doing and was very quick. He had to put a ballast in my fluorescent light. He cleaned up. He's very personable. They did a good job.
However, I didn't care for that you have to pay upfront because Home Shield took the money out right away, but then the techs didn't come for six days because they couldn't come. It used to be where they would take it out after your service was done. They could have just started taking the money out right away, though. But other than that, I just did it online and it was easy to do. In the past, I've had a hard time getting somebody out here. One time, it took almost a month. But that's the only problem. When you live in a smaller community, it's hard to get people to come out. But they can't control that, and other than that, I'm happy with Home Shield. I got it when I bought the home and a lot of people don't keep it. But for being a single woman at 75 years old, it's great.

We did a tune-up to check my air and my heat and see how everything was working. It was peace of mind for us to have everything checked to make sure it was working properly. They changed the filter. We paid for a part out of pocket because we could and it wasn’t that much and to help with the air conditioner. The tech was very nice and respectful. Our dryer wouldn't spin or turn the barrel, so we couldn't use it at all. I did a service request online and made the appointment. It got confirmed. When I submitted the claim, they asked what kind of issue and what model or brand of dryer it was. I told them and they said they would send Sears out. The technician got to our house at about 4:00 in the afternoon, took the dryer apart and put it back together. It was still having trouble and he decided we needed a new motor.
He said he had one, but he had to go to another call. He left at 6:00, came back at 8:00, finished it and left at about 9:50 PM. I was told that a motor with labor would have been about $300. We paid the $100 fee to have him come to the house and that was it. The technician was persistent with our dryer and he fixed it. He was great. Our dryer is 15 years old and now, it runs perfect. We started with American Home Shield a year ago and we did not have to use it till then. It went well.

I originally got Myers for a tune-up through Home Shield. When they came out, they said that they had to have some capacitors or something on there. Now, there was a little confusion because they said they were gonna come back to do that. Then after I contacted them the second time, they said, “Oh, you have to put in a new order.” No one had told me that. So, I had to put in a new order and pay Home Shield again for the contractor to come back to replace those capacitors. Submitting claims through Home Shield is a simple process. Communication is a problem though. I had called when my warranty expired, to renew it, and I talked to different agents, and I got like four different prices from them. So, I was confused as to what the price was gonna be. As long as you look at everything and everything is spelled out as to what a warranty actually does cover, which Home Shield did, it's a good idea to get a warranty.

We had both the dryer and the water heater for years. American Home Shield wanted to repair the water heater, but we knew it couldn’t be repaired. They came back and they kept working on it, but it was like pulling teeth getting the work done. This is the service that we paid for that AHS would cover. For our heating and AC, the guy put a lock on it. Customer service wasn’t that great, so that was a bummer. It was like, “Okay, we’re paying to you, and you’re acting like we’re bothering you. But this is your job.” Those types of situations could be improved. Also, I have to wait for someone to call me back, or I have to call American Home Shield to say, “Hey, I have an appointment but no one's called to schedule an appointment.”
We tried another home warranty company, but it didn't do half of what they said they did, but we were paying for it. That one didn't work and we found American Home Shield and tried it. We haven’t found anything else out there that was comparable with the same pricing. Also, it’s worked so far each time we’ve had to use it, so we kept it. They have come out for our washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, water heater and AC. I'm neither dissatisfied nor satisfied. We’ve had some good techs as well as some techs that were not so good come out. We’ve had issues resolved as well as issues where we had to wait a long time for them to be resolved. It’s been like, “Okay. We’re paying for it, so we’re going to use it.”

I've had three claims. I only had one problem and that was with the washer. When the first tech got there, it needed a motor. The people who came were really great. They did a good job. The second people, with this COVID thing, they couldn't get the part and they wouldn't call me. I was really unhappy with them. So, I ended up canceling that. I lost my $100. I just went out and got another washing machine.

We put in a service request with AHS for the heating in the house which was not working. We were getting air, but the air wasn't hot. Best Tech was the company that came in to do the repair and they diagnosed the issue. It appeared that the thermostat was not sending the signal to the unit and once they changed the thermostat, the unit started working.
I submitted this claim through American Home Shield's portal and there was an issue at first. It was assigned to a different contractor and after three days, they gave a date that they would come in. But they did not honor that and didn’t come on that particular day. I even tried calling them, but I got no response. Later on, through American Home Shield, I heard that that initial contractor which was assigned, could not come in for another week. I told American Home Shield that it was something that we couldn't wait for so long because of the heat and that we needed a service sooner. And that's when American Home Shield assigned Best Tech to come out. Their techs resolved the problem and I was satisfied with them. AHS also did great and they have been prompt in reassigning the work order to a different company.
So far, my experience with AHS has been positive. But depending on the type of service, sometimes it can vary, and the appliance contractors have not been the best. There are options for the heating or air conditioning, which helps in quickly reassigning the job if someone has not been doing things right or has been taking long. But the appliance is one area where we need to have more alternate options because right now, if something is wrong with the appliance, there aren't many options. We have to get stuck with the same contractor who sometimes, for no reason, can take forever to get the same part, which can be received in 24 hours.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I had an AC issue and the tech who came out was very professional. There were a couple of parts that he needed to change out, and he did. Now, it's working out fine. It's an old unit, but it will do for now. When I was submitting the claim through American Home Shield, I was on hold for a while. It was a little difficult to get through. But once I got through, it was pretty much simple.
When I signed up with American Home Shield, the customer service people getting the account were very understanding and pleasing. Once you put the service calls through, there's a little bit of hesitance there. I don't know if they're not too knowledgeable of what's going on or if they got a little bit of like a resistance type of thing. But other than that, once I got that going, it was fine.
From the time that I called to the actual callback from the service people, it was like two days later. As a matter of fact, I have an issue right now with a cast iron pipe. We have a leak in one of the houses, and it doesn't cover that. It took about a week in order to get somebody to call me to say that American Home Shield won't cover it. I don't have a problem if it's not covered, it's not covered. But it would be good if I can know ahead of time so I don't have my tenant waiting to use the bathroom. Other than that, everything else was pretty much okay. So, overall, I'll stay with it.

I have a history with Home Shield that I've always had them and I never used them so I got rid of them. They lured me back so I did sign on with them. Then COVID hit and I didn’t have any money. They put me with their collectors. I resigned with them and started a new contract. They said that the old contract didn't matter anymore but they were still calling me.
I had some people come out for the water 'cause I kept on hearing some kind of dripping going on. The first company Home Shield gave me was super-duper rude. The lady was arguing with me that they did call me and they did try to reach out to me. They didn't and there's no reason for me to lie. She was really horrible with me. I got to another person and they came out. The guy seemed like he was trying to find something wrong with my house so that way his business could come out and take care of it if it wasn't covered under Home Shield. I was listening and looking at him. I was not happy. I told him I have Home Shield because whatever needs to be addressed, it needs to be addressed with them. He kind of like suggested that they work in cahoots with each other.
He shut off my water softener and the water running stopped. But later, I saw water on the wall. He said I need a regulator outside of my water system and Home Shield is not gonna cover me 'cause I don't have that. It was gonna be $1,000. I was really pissed off and shut the door on them. I didn't even bother calling them back. My experience with Home Shield has been horrible because with my first two tries using them after years of just putting money in they were horrible. But the last guy that came out was awesome. He fixed my refrigerator and my dishwasher panel.
It's worth the effort to keep a line open but I would go exploring other companies besides Home Shield. Home Shield should put an extra effort to make sure that they are truly serving the customer. When things like this arise, that there is some kind of clear communication where we can give feedback immediately to Home Shield so they can become a better company. That's not set in there.

American Home Shield's claims process has been different. In the past, when you call and set up for an appointment, which is fine with us, they don't take the money right up front. But we do that now. Also, instead of dealing with a person, it's more so computerized now. What I normally do if I need to speak with someone is stay on the line and request for a consultant, operator, technician or whoever I need to talk to.
I want to talk to a person live instead of the computer asking about my claim. They go through like a litany of 5 questions or 10 questions. Mine was electrical. If it for example was number three, it will say, "What is the problem?" I express what the problem is. It says, "Well, a technician will be following up with you." What I do is when I get an email or text message from AHS, I call the technician myself. Sometimes, I don't even give them time to give me a call.

The guy from Gabriel's Garage Doors did a very good job. He was quick and efficient. I gave him the symptoms and he knew what the problem was before he even got here. I've had American Home Shield for 30 years and I have several houses with it. So, to me, it's like an insurance policy that you pay for and you hope that you don't have to use it. But when you need it, it's good to have. It's good to be able to just make a phone call, pay 75 bucks or 100 bucks, depending on the deductible, and be done with it and have a professional come out. The only problem that I have with American Home Shield is that if I'm calling in for something and I need to talk to somebody, the wait time is really a long time sometimes. Sometimes I could wait 30 minutes on the phone to get somebody. But the last time I called, they picked up in like 10 seconds. So, it's really hit-or-miss. I asked them why wouldn't they install the parts if these were something that Home Shield provided? So they went back and installed it. But they didn't install one of the pieces correctly because when they put the handle on to turn the faucet on, it kept falling off, and falling off, and falling off.
They cut a hole in the wall to be able to access the panel. It’s called an access panel. But I already had a hole there.
