    AHS sent out EJ's Appliance Repair to service our washing machine and there was a different man that came out the first time. He had to order a part then a different one came out the second time. He fixed the lid on the washing machine that had been broke for a while and while he was in there, he said that he also fixed the spring. He said it was just loose. They did great and I've had no problems with it. They weren't there a really long time but they explained everything that was wrong and everything they did. They're probably the best repairmen for the washer and dryer we've had out. Other than that, the payment with AHS is a fixed amount that I know I'm gonna pay and that's kinda great. It's also that much for a repairman in town to come out plus what the repair actually cost. So I don't feel like I'm wasting my money.

    I have been with AHS for over 14 years (paying an average of $55 per month, which means I have paid them over $9000). Now that I actually have a major claim and need my water heater replaced they are giving me the runaround!! They sent a contractor to my home, charging me the usual $100 service fee which is fine) that was not equipped to replace the water heater. So instead of sending out a new contractor, which I found, is equipped and contracted through AHS and sent me a quote and invoice to complete the job, they want to give me a cash offer for my water heater which will not even cover half of the replacement cost. They are telling me since the diagnosis that the original contractor reported is correct, they are not authorized to send someone back out..REALLY!!!!

    I could have told you over the phone that the water heater was 15 years old and needed to be replaced. So what they are telling me it's luck of the draw if the technician they contract will be able to resolve your issues, and if not, "Oh well we tried." Additionally, I have called them several times trying to speak to a supervisor about this issue, it would easier to get into Fort Knox than speak to a supervisor, only to be put on hold for 15+ minutes then mysteriously disconnected. To further add to my frustration and disappointment not only with the water heater issue but with the overall level of customer service, I spoke to an AHS Rep last night that told me the original contractor was, in fact, able to replace the water heater and all I had to do was call them this morning, pay an out-of-pocket cost of $271 and schedule the appointment.

    Well, guess what I did this morning, called the contractor only to find out that was a lie!!!! What is really upsetting is the Rep didn't just give me general information regarding my service request, she gave me specifics i.e service order #, out-of-pocket-cost and confirmed the contractor's name & phone #. WOW!!!! So of course, I called AHS back only to be put on hold and disconnected again trying to get in touch with a supervisor. Enough is enough, so I decided to go to the AHS Website and try the "chat" service. Well, still no resolution to my issue.

    Since I couldn't call in and be connected to a supervisor, I asked via chat to have a supervisor contact me...Well, it's been over 40 min and my phone has not rung. This company will sell you what you hope to be a peace of mind if something in your home breaks down, however, when you have a major issue..it becomes a NIGHTMARE!!! BUYER BEWARE!!??

    I called for service for American Home Shield for my Heat Pump. Right after I placed service call Heat Pump came on. I called immediately to cancel. When I checked my checking account a week later they took the 75.00 out of my checking account. Will not refund my 75.00. Buyer beware. Called and the customer service is in the Philippines. Nice real nice American Home Shield.

    Last August our HVAC died. 2 days later, AHS repair came out. Looked at our options & chose to cash out. we never got our check! Multiple phone calls, lots of promises - nothing. If I could give zero stars, I would.

    My wife called about our stove and a Sears repair team was sent out. However, there was some miscommunication since when they got there, it turned out that they didn’t service that type of a stove. It was a high-end stove so they referred us to J&R who handles that. J&R came out and saw the parts that were required. Some of the burners weren’t turning on, there is an issue with the igniters, and they had to replace a bunch of parts. The tech went back, got the approval or the parts, and then came back about a week or two later and then did the repair. He did a wonderful job and was very quick. Everything has been terrific since they’ve been out. When we moved in our house, we didn’t know the state of everything so we chose to get American Home Shield home warranty. We’ve been so satisfied that we will probably renew it again.

    The AC claim was okay. The tech was pleasant. He knew what he was doing and did a good job. The other claim was for the garage door. It won’t go up anymore. Another guy came and only spent 5 to 10 minutes. He asked what the problem was and I told him my garage isn’t working. He looked at it and asked me if the motor is working. I said it is ‘cause if you turn it on, you will hear the sound that it’s moving. He saw that and told me the problem is the spring. He also told me the spring is not in my policy so I have to pay for it. He told me if I want it done, it will cost me $450. I thought everything will be covered. I never thought it will be that costly. I can just go to Home Depot and change it myself. I had paid AHS membership about $70 a month. I called to request for somebody to come and I paid $100. Now, just for the garage door and only for the spring, the tech will not be able to do it because the motor is the only one covered. I was so frustrated and I’m thinking of cancelling my subscription.

    Our dryer quit drying. I submitted the claim with Home Shield online and I found the website easy to use. We do it that way for the the last two, three years. Home Shield always tells us that within 24 hours that they would give me a call and schedule the service time. The contractor, Hinco, was very knowledgeable. The tech called me around 10 o'clock that Monday morning to schedule. Came out the same day within just a few hours. Diagnosed the problem, did the repair, explained what he found. It was a pretty smooth process. He did a really good job.

    The heating coil is what goes out in our dryer about once a year. He told us the reason why. He said, "I can only say what I found, but there was a tab inside it that was actually broken off which made the coil in a funky position." So, he went ahead and fixed that as well. Didn't even put it on the ticket. He said, "It's just good customer service goes that way." Very knowledgeable. Knew exactly what it was and actually fixed the problem.

    We've always had good experience. We've been customers of American Home Shield for six or seven years at this point. They always do exactly what they're supposed to. I don't have to worry about the technicians because I do travel a lot for my job. So, I've had to have the air conditioner fixed and I didn't have to worry about somebody trying to pull a fast one on my wife when I'm four, five states away. That happened a couple of summers ago where they sent somebody out to fix the air conditioner. The technician called to explain everything to me before he fixed what was wrong. They're a great company.

    One of my co-workers recommended American Home Shield and this is our first year with them. We had two different plumbers come in for two different instances. One did the faucet and the one who did the garbage disposal was good. The plumber from AZ Remodeling & Plumbing came and then we had a issue with the garbage disposal again. They sent somebody else immediately and fixed that so I was very happy with them as well as with the tech who came the second time. They were professional, knowledgeable, very clean and quick.

    Budget AC, Heating and Plumbing is about 90% good. We have one guy come out who had a poor attitude once. Beside that, it was fine. We called them for the AC and the water heater a couple of times, and they ended up coming out for a plumbing issue as well. The quality of their work has been fine. It's $75-fee to get someone out and sometimes just screw a bolt on, so maybe I should be a little bit more handy but I don't mess with water and electric.

    I had some sockets that were not working and Elite Electric Solutions was able to replace them and get them up fairly quickly. I don't have any difficulty with submitting the claims online. The contractors are courteous and I haven't had any issue with any of them to date. They give give you 30 minutes to get to where you needed to be, because a lot of times, I’m at work and have to meet them, so that is always more convenient.

    My heater would tick on and blow for about a minute and turn back off. It did it kinda both for the AC and the heaters. I called American Home Shield and told them that I didn't know how to actually report the matter because it looked like my heating is gas and AC is electric. They looked like two separate entities. The rep helped me figure out how we were gonna do that. She was gonna file it under the heater because that was where the problem started and if it ended up being the AC, she clarified for me that it wouldn’t be a duplicate charge. They would just resend somebody else out there if needed. I was pleased with that. The contractors with American Home Shield have all been pretty professional. For my heater claim, they assigned me to the Royal Flush Company. A guy came out and I briefly explained the same thing to him. He went and did his testing. He ended up fixing both of them so I was happy. Everything has been fine for me.

    The heat was coming on too much even though I didn't want it to come on so much at night. I took a space heater and put it in there near the thermostat, so it drove the thermostat way up. When it got cold again and I've decided to have the heat come on, I couldn't get it to come on. But what happened was I didn't bring it up enough degrees to get it to come on. So, it was a waste of $600 I spent. If I just turned it up a few more degrees, it would have popped on because American Home Shield sent out Harold's AC Repair in here and did that, and problem solved.

    I did have one other issue with them. The icemaker stopped working seven months ago. I called American Home Shield and tried to schedule an appointment to get my icemaker fixed in my refrigerator. They said they'd get back to me and they never did. So, I just gave up on it and I've been buying bagged ice ever since. Also, their claims process was irritating because they constantly advertise, "24 hours, 7 days a week, you can call." And first thing they told me was I could file a claim online. Other than that, they've been good. In my own mind, it didn't become that important because I don't use that much ice anyhow. So, I just let it go and it's still broken. It's not worth a $100 to me right now to get it fixed.

    So far, I've been under treatment for cancer and I hate pulling a cancer card. This last time, I ended up pulling the cancer card because it happened to be on Christmas eve when this heat situation went out, and it was very cold. I told them, "I wouldn't normally say this because I don't like anybody to know that I have cancer, but I don't wanna sit here in a cold house. I can't afford to get a cold with my new system the way it is." So, they really worked hard to get somebody out there. The guy came out on Christmas eve. They were good on that one. Especially, since the whole thing was my fault anyway. It was stupid to watch him come up here and click it seven times and it came on automatically when I was trying for days. This is an old house, built in 1879, so it has got its own idiosyncrasies and I have to just deal with them. But that was my thought. That was not this heating system's fault.

    The icemaker is the only thing they ever fail me on. If it had been real important, I would have pursued it more severely. I'm single by myself, so I just don't want have to deal with repairs if I can help it. I wanna have security that way. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to anyone because it's a good backup to have. It costs money every month but it's worth every cent at the end of the day if something goes wrong. They're a very good company. They've adjusted what I wanted to do, when I want to up my coverage and everything else. They've been very pleasant and very cooperative.

    Douglas Mechanical came out to check one of my AC units. I submitted the claim online and it took about two days for the contractor to come out because my schedule was hectic. The tech was good and very thorough, but I was trying to figure out whether I should replace the full system or not. They were a little too expensive, so I decided to go with someone else. I also had a refrigerator leak and they only covered $10 a pound. They were trying to charge $100 a pound and I needed to put 10 pounds in my unit. So I would have been out $1,000. I thought American Home Shield covered more when it comes to refrigerators.

    AHS's policy is a great coverage insurance. I've had them for maybe a year or so now and it's a good company to have with my house. I can afford to pay a technician to come out if something breaks down. I don't have to pay out a whole lot more when something needs to be repaired.

    I've been with them for two years now and they put you on hold way too long. I live in a rural area and it takes too long for them to find someone to come up here. They’re also too expensive. There’s not a lot of other competition, so they have the market cornered. But the contractors have been good.

    I was once with another company, but my dad is with American Home Shield, and he convinced me to go with AHS. So far, the experience has been good. They were prompt.     We had a leak in our garbage disposal one time and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Using their site was too difficult and it wanted things that I couldn't provide. Hers & His Plumbing came to do service. They replaced the garbage disposal and things have been fine since then. AHS wanted to know what caused the leak and told me it was gonna be four to six weeks before I get my reimbursement. Four to six weeks is a ridiculous amount of time to cut a check. I complained about that and I got my money two days later.

    My washing machine went out. I called American Home Shield and told them that I thought my washing machine needed repairs, and because it was not functioning, the tub wasn’t spinning. They set up an appointment, had Sears contact me to come out and look at the machine. Sears came out, looked at the machine, and then they said that it was not repairable. I called the contact person at American Home Shield and then American Home Shield contacted me and said that because the machine wasn’t repairable that they would replace the machine. They sent me an email and they recommended a machine, but they said I had a choice of choosing which one I wanted. I went with the machine that they were recommending.

    A couple of years ago, I had Choice to come in because shortly after I joined Choice my furnace went up. The repairman came out, he stated that someone had placed the filter in front of the area of the furnace but nobody messed with the filters except me and I knew where the filters went. So, I know I didn’t go in the area of the furnace where it blocked the vent. And so, Choice denied my claim. With American Home Shield, when I had the contract with them, I asked them the question, "If something breaks down in the home shortly after I take out the contract with you, will you cover it?” They said, “Sure.” So, that was difference between the two.

    The power on our refrigerator just went out. I thought it was the plug but as soon as the plug was on, it wasn't getting cold at all. The lights would come on so I was assuming they were working, but every day it was getting warmer in there. So, it was time to call American Home Shield. The technician who came out was a young cool guy. He diagnosed it and figured out what the problem was. He then came back a couple of days later to put a part in.

    I've had American Home Shield for 12 years and I've loved it. Now, I'm using them for my water heater and it's getting trying right now. So many different people happen to be involved. The water heater caused damage to my house and it soaked my walls inside and out. I had a plumber to come out and he just took a picture and left. That didn't solve anything. My unit is still leaking. It took them almost five days to come out, so I asked AHS if somebody was supposed to come out sooner than this instead of my house getting soaked and all the stuff from my garage being damaged. Also, nobody is gonna pay me for these days that I'm taking off and for all these damages.

    When I finally got somebody to do something, they told me I gotta pay $1,300 out of my pocket for them to remove the water heater and put another one in. That is how much a water heater costs for. If they have the warranty on my water heater and they're gonna replace the water heater, it doesn't it make sense that if you're gonna replace it, then somebody has to put it in. But no, they were telling me they wouldn't pay to install it.

    I'm upset with the plumbing company. I don't like their attitude and the way they're doing things. They come out, don't say a word to me, and then they send a report that told me that I gotta pay $1,300. Then they were telling me that they would not come out until I get all the stuff in the garage fixed and the drywall repaired and everything else.

    American Home Shield promised that somebody is coming out today to do her inspection so they can get started on repairing my drywall and inside of my house but as for the plumbing company, nothing. They said they were not coming out until all that stuff was finished, and then I gotta pay them $1,300 upfront before they start anything. Then apparently, AHS is gonna give me a cheaper water heater because mine was $1,800 and they're giving me 1250, and then have to pay to put it in. I also can't use my own people, like my own plumber, to make it cheaper. It's certified. If I did that, they said it would take ten more days.

    American Home Shield was great. They are always timely and I've had a wonderful experience. About a month ago, they came right out for my refrigerator.     The refrigerator was making a buzzing noise and we didn’t know what it was. We called AHS and Optimum Appliance came out. The technician was professional. He pulled the refrigerator out from the wall and took it apart. There was ice built up around the fan. He replaced the sensor and it's working good now. We filed another claim as well with regards to some of these electric wall heaters in our house. They have little fans and a couple of them seem like they don’t work very well. A different guy came out, looked at it and took down the paperwork. He said he’d be back in touch. This was two weeks ago. Overall, AHS has been very responsive. We had a couple little issues, but they sent people right out. It's a pretty good deal. I also paid a little extra for some extra coverage. It's nice to get a customer service to call and say, "Hey, you can extend your service for only 70 bucks more."

    I love AHS' contractor, Aquatech. I have used them before and they do really good work. I like their follow-up. The lady there, Sharon, calls often and lets us know what they found and what the next steps are. However, on our most recent claim, they could not figure out what was going on with our spa. They said we should probably call a water leak company.

    I've had AHS for about eight years and, generally, the service was good. I just wish they had a plan that would include appliances and was more affordable. I know Sears has a plan that has appliances included, and we almost went with that, but I didn't feel comfortable having two different plans - one for my home and the other for everything else. I once had to call AHS for something and it was a $270 bill for a tiny gasket. If I had that covered, that would have been paid for, probably including the appliance on a coverage all year. The repair guy even felt guilty and could not believe he had to charge me that much for a little O-ring that had wiggled off the back of the washing machine. Other than that, I generally I like what AHS covers and the service has been fine.

    I had issues with two toilets, and the other toilet is fine. The tech was very thorough. The claim was resolved for a day, but the water is coming back from the base again. The tech told me that if that happened, that means that it was backed up again. He did his job, but there might be something more than just snaking out the both areas. So I have my son using the other bathroom. This claim worked well. It’s just not resolved unfortunately. The very first time that I had to use AHS, the garbage disposal was backed up. I had the gentleman out at the house for that, and he told me to put something down in the sink to keep it from clogging up. I didn’t think that was cool, and that wasn’t a very pleasant experience.

    ACI Northwest came out for our HTG. We like the repair people very much. In fact, we’ve hung on to their card just in case we need other things done. The tech took some extra time and went back and forth to his shop picking up parts for us. I’m sure he saved quite a bit of money on the repair, so the claim went well. I wish they included roof. But everything else is okay. I didn’t wanna come out with somebody else the next time around because I imagined this is gonna be an ongoing problem with it. The unit is 25 years old, and so we might see him maybe once a year, so it better be somebody that’s good and I like.     Recently, we had a heating claim filed to AHS. The contractor that they sent fixed it the first time and then he had to come back and fix it a second time because the motor was down.     We weren't getting heat, just the air conditioning and then, the unit outside was freezing up. I called American Home Shield and told them what the problem was. They sent Perry out, and they had to replace two parts. Also, they charged me for the Freon because they had to put new Freon in the AC. That didn’t seem to solve the issue so, AHS sent them out again. They found some other stuff wrong with it but that didn't seem to solve the problem. So, I called American Home Shield, who said that they would send them back and noted that I wouldn't have to pay the $125 because it was a recall. It’s the third time that the contractor, Perry Mechanical, has been here. I was a little unhappy with them but there were two guys that came out today and so far, it’s working.

    My unit was blowing out cool air, and I called American Home Shield so they can send somebody out to see what’s going on. They told me someone will be calling me within the next 24 to 48 hours, and they did. They scheduled an appointment, and they came out and checked the unit. I wasn’t pressured but they offered me something so I won’t have the problem anymore. Right now, I can’t afford to do what they offered. But they said in the near future to kinda consider redoing my unit into an energy-efficient unit. I’m taking it into consideration. The tech gave me options to do a payment plan. Budget Heating is really good. I called them last year about my AC unit. My filter needed to be switched out as well. So, their guy did all of that for me and told me to think about getting the energy-efficient unit, so I won’t have those problems anymore. My overall experience was really good.

    I’m a new homeowner, so I don’t really know what’s going on. And it wasn’t my first time calling American Home Shield before. So, I really appreciate them. They act really fast. They take all of my information. They always feel like they’re sorry that we have to experience what it is that we’re experiencing, but they’re always there to make me feel better about the situation. I generally call in to submit my claims. It’s easy to get a hold of them.

    My clothes dryer was malfunctioning. It was making some screeching noises and it smelled awful. I submitted the claim online and American Home Shield's website was very easy to use. They contacted me very quickly after I submitted it, and then we scheduled a time when they would come in. 4A Appliance Repair came out within a few days and they tried originally lubricating the parts, but that didn't fix the problem.

    It was great that they had experience with the problem and had seen it in other models before, and they knew what needed to be done. They said that with this Samsung model, that particular part is often defective. They even showed me whatever houses the bearings that the thing rotates on. So, they ended up ordering a replacement part. They then replaced the part and it has worked perfectly since then. The contractor was fantastic.     Some of the people sent to us have been very good while some have not been so good. A couple of contractors that AHS contract with come out and do band-aid work on whatever they have to do just enough to patch to where, after 30 days, we would be back at square one again. We had that before with the air conditioning when we got A-US Air. That company is not good at all and they really need to get rid of them. They've come out to our rental properties so many times and even at my own home. When we called American Home Shield again and requested that they send us someone different, the person that came said, "They didn't fix your problem. Your problem is still here." Plus there are some other damage that have been done. So, we would always request, "No. Please do not send A-US Air."

    We got ASAP Plumbing in a recent claim and they were good. I didn't have problems with them. They were prompt, they came out, they fixed the problem and rectified the problem right then and there. Everything has been okay over at the house now. American Home Shield is very good but they just need to watch and look into some of their contractors.

    We had a shower that was leaking around the handle. In another bath upstairs, we also had a shower that was very slow spray it almost had no water pressure coming out of it. And then the second phase was we had some slow flushing going on with our toilets. I went online and put in the claim. The website is fairly user-friendly. Once you used it a couple of times, you get used to how you need to maneuver around. By the next day, I received a text and/or an email from Home Shield. And then I got a text from the contractor saying they would be out. They came out on the second or third day after the claim was put in, but they were out quick.

    The tech from Hays changed the inner body of the leaking faucet in the tub shower unit. On the other one, he might had to clean out some lime build-up. And then on the toilets, a vent was clogged. You gotta get the vent right so you don’t get a vapor lock-in. It was excellent service. Obviously, you don’t want to have issues with your plumbing. But the fact that the service response was excellent and the problems were taken care of, so Home Shield did their part, the plumbing company did their part, and we paid our deductible, so we did our part too. The toilets now worked just fine, the shower does not leak and the other shower has pressure. We got what the warranty is intended to do. That’s what we’ve paid for, so we’re very satisfied.

    We've been with AHS for almost a year now and we've used it three times and it's been really easy every time. With our most recent claim, the contractor was on time. Before he left, he made sure that none of the faucets were dripping that he came to fix. And one of the things he showed us was how to fix the issue if we had it in other areas. Like if there was some dripping where we just needed to put some caulking, and he let us know how to do that stuff and where to get the stuff for it.

    I really like AHS. I love the peace of mind of having the appliances covered. I do wish it was easier when I renewed to figure out what was covered and what wasn't. Because when I renewed it, I didn't realize there were different plans and I would've probably upgraded to a different plan. I know right now our garage isn't covered.     I have an AC problem and paid 4x for freon. It doesn’t make sense for me because the people American Home Shield uses try to do something different. I have my other house and have 10 years almost with freon. I've had American Home Shield for almost 3 years and this is the first time this happened. The contractor said they have a better warranty, they charge $34, I don’t have to pay for freon and they do maintenance, but I told them I'm good. I have two properties that I'm gonna do also with American Home Shield, but I told the rep the price is too much. I was paying $49.99. Now, I pay $53. The price goes up and I don't know why. The rep said it goes up every year. Plus the deductible is $100 so it's not cheap. The people also don’t have good experience. I told them each time that the AC is fixed but in a couple of months it's gonna be bad.

    I recently requested for service because my water heater stopped producing hot water. I contacted service department one 2/1/2020 to request for AHS to get in touch with a contractor to come see what the problem was and paid my 75$ fee. However, after requesting from 4 different contractors none of them serviced my area and at least an hour away from where I was located. Apparently because the contractor was unable to service my area the service claim was cancelled and it wasn't until the next day I had called back to the service department I found this out. I was not notified that I had to start a new claim because it was cancelled by the contractor (if my claim was with AHS I don't understand how a contractor can just cancel the service claim).

    My contact is with AHS not with the contractor. It is unprofessional for this kind of situation to occur without the insured being notified. I was finally assigned a local contractor be it too was unreliable with no answer just an answering machine. I called two times every day since I was assigned the new contractor and apparently the service department is unable to get a hold of the contractor but wants me to continue trying. Um no thank you. It has been over a week that I have been waiting without hot water mind you unless I try manually sometimes it works but not always and it takes almost to hours to get a full tank of hot water. Today is 2/10/2020 and my issue is still unresolved. I am going to have to now figure out what I am going to do to get someone out to service my water heater at an affordable price. Wish me luck.     Sometimes, our heater would be going just fine and then it would not kick on. We have a gas furnace. So, we would notice it was cold and we would go and look at the thermostat and it will be like in the 60s in here. There would be a thing flashing, it will say stage two. And it would be flashing like it couldn't come on. We'd turn it off and when we turn it back on, it would eventually come back on. Or my husband would go up and look at it, maybe open up the furnace cover, and sometimes closing the cover back would make it come back on. It was two or three days and it still hadn’t come back on, so that was when we went ahead and called Home Shield. A guy from Amp Mechanical came and inspected the furnace system. He went through everything and he couldn't really find anything. He said there looked like there was a little bit of maybe dust and he said he cleaned that out really well but couldn't find anything else. So, everything was fine.

    Then, maybe a week later, it went out again. And it was going to get very, very cold that weekend. We were afraid we wouldn't have heat for the weekend. Since it was out, we went ahead and called and they came back out. He still really couldn't find anything. He said it would flash a code and if it's not showing the code, he has no idea what's happening. There was something that he thought maybe would fix it, but it's still been doing it. But it hasn't been doing it with the frequency where it stays off. Now, we've noticed if it is off and if it doesn't come back on for a couple of hours, it would just kick on again. Thank God, it's been working.

    We’d hate to call and then have somebody come back out again and then it comes back on. With the second call, because the first call had happened so close, they said that I wouldn't be charged. I said that if I need to pay something, I would and he said it was still part of the other part. And that's another reason why we didn't want to have keep calling you unless they could figure out anything. The contractor who came out was so professional and nice. He was up there for so long in the attic. It's not warm up there at all and I appreciate it. And everybody I’ve ever talked to on the phone has been so nice and helpful. We are very happy with our coverage. Everything we've ever needed with American Home Shield has been truly amazing. Through our experiences with them, my parents signed up.

    We had a dishwasher issue one time and the guy who came out for AHS from Dad's Appliance did a great job. He was very courteous. We also had a door lock issue and AHS' contractor came and fixed that as well. With our last claim though, we were having trouble with our fluorescent lights in our basement. We submitted a claim to AHS and the gal who set up the appointment had a thick accent. I was pretty sure that she was from a call center. She said my claim might not be covered but I said that was fine and that I would pay anyway.

    That message did not get transmitted to the electricians who came out for AHS. My wife took the techs down and showed them the problems. They said the issue was the ballast and that they don't cover that. They said goodbye. I paid $75 for that visit. I gave up on American Home Shield and purchased new LED electric lights from Home Depot. We will have a private electrician install them. We're not planning to renew with AHS.

    I submitted a claim with my furnace not working properly a couple of weeks ago. I got a response very quickly and it has all been very professional. And I was happy with the people that American Home Shield sent out. The contractor contacted me within a couple of hours and were very good with scheduling. Their guy was able to fix it on the first time that they came out, and then we decided talking about it because of the age of the home and the furnace. It was probably a good idea to replace it. And at that time, American Home Shield had a promotion going for upgrading HVAC for half price. That was a big motivating factor because I already had issues with it. I figured it was probably only a matter of time before it was gonna have to be replaced. And so, they replaced my entire HVAC system. They left a little bit of a mess when they did the HVAC, but nothing major.

    I also contacted American Home Shield because the air conditioner had problems too. They got someone out very quickly and the guy did a great job. I have been very happy with American Home Shield. I have had them since I purchased the home in September and I would want to know about expending my warranty with them.

    I had a leak in the bathroom and on the shower head. When you close the two double sink faucets in the bathroom, their handle moves, so it is not sturdy. And now, it is starting to leak. When Eagle Plumbing & Heating came the first time, I mentioned this to the plumber and he said that he was able to fix the shower head, which was perfect, but unfortunately American Home Shield would not allow him to fix the two faucets because they were not leaking -- but they are now. It was an issue that was starting already. It worked fine but the faucet was starting to get tough to open and close.

    Then the second time around, my kitchen faucet was leaking and the tech replaced the faucet. It is now working perfectly. The last person they sent out was experienced and super professional. He had been doing this for a while and he knew the ins and outs of everything. He left everything clean when he was done too, so I was happy. He even gave me some tips on how to maintain it and also the pipes under the sink.

    When we bought our house, the realtor suggested that we should get this type of insurance. We have bought four houses since then and we have always added the insurance to the house. I call in to submit a claim and it is easy. Sometimes, it takes a little bit as far as between when I started the claim and having the company that was going to work on the issue to come out and contact me. I work from home so my schedule is flexible. When friends, family and neighbors talk to me about something that has broken in their house, I always mention to them, “You guys should just consider getting American Home Shield because it is peace of mind. If something breaks down or even something small, they will service it.” I also explain to them the fees.

    We had an issue in one of our houses, where in the washer, water was coming out. A technician came. He changed the part with one of the dials, and it looked like it was okay. But then as we started using it, another leak started coming out. The very first one was huge, we had to sweep the garage, but this other one was a lot smaller and we caught it in time. We called again the Sears men, and they came out. They worked on it. They checked it out, took out the broken part and replaced it. The second gentleman opened up the machine and took the parts out and did all kind of stuff. That seemed to resolve the issue.

    After the second gentleman, we’ve only had one incident where it started leaking. We think it was because maybe we put a little too much in it, too many clothes on it or with sheets and then the towel. I told my wife to just do the sheets first and then do the towels separately. So now, we do it separately. We’re more conscious of it. My wife has been very careful in putting the proper stuff or what we think the proper load is, and it’s been working okay.

    There’s not been any leaks recently. Maybe the machine is up there in age, too. It’s one of those things that maybe you have to be careful in what you put it in so that it washes it and it doesn’t lose the balance. When you put a lot of stuff in it, the container that contains the clothes starts moving around. In the other house, where my daughter lives, we have an incident with the dryer that was old. They’re gonna bring in a new dryer for us. Hopefully, that would work out. I'm happy with American Home Shield. When we call to make an appointment, they come and get the job done. Everybody’s been good.

    The plumber, Patrick, came out and he was very thorough. The toilet was clogged and Patrick made sure that there were no clogged lines. If we needed a new toilet, he called in to get a good price for us but we didn’t end up needing one. The job that was being done by them on their end was gonna end up possibly costing us 200 and something dollars but it ended up costing only 60. It was wonderful. They did a really good job for the work that they did. And we haven’t had any problems since then. If we'd have any more problems with plumbing around here, I would love to only use their service and that particular plumber because he was courteous. He made sure not to track in any mud or anything in our house. He brought booties and was prepared.

    AHS would take the order and if they said that they'd call back, that means that you passed it on to them. We've had electrical problems and no one has addressed it. We have two light switches in the hallway. When the company came out and tested them and they were both working. But now, you can only use one to turn the light on. The other one, the light doesn’t come on at all. I've expressed at least four times to four different AHS customer service reps regarding our lighting. They said that there was an issue regarding the 30-day time-lapse, but I did make a phone call right after the issue.

    The electrical company claimed to have called us back to say that they were gonna come out. I always answer my phone if I hear my phone ringing and we have answering machines, so if there’s a message being left on the phone, we answer the phone. So, they never called back to do that job. We still haven’t gotten anyone out here to take care of that incident. I had even told the last person from AHS that I talked to that if I'd have to pay another $75 and we would pay for it. But no one has ever called to set up another job with a different electrical company.

    We have about four houses, my mom, myself, and my sister. I had let mine lapse last year, so I had to wait and renew my AHS in January and it just came effective February. Before it became effective, I had this noise in my air conditioner like it was clicking. I didn't have American Home Shield, so I paid a company 100 bucks to come out and tell me it was a piece that goes in there that the electricity goes out, and it disperses the electricity to the air conditioner and it was shorting out.

    Then I called American Home Shield 'cause it did it again last night. But it was raining, and when the air condition got wet, it started clicking like the connectors were getting wet, but it's a brand-new box cage. I called American Home Shield and I had an immediate response from a company that was gonna come up. I checked the air conditioner and it went on and it didn't make a noise. The lady's gonna call me back tomorrow to see if it does it again tonight and if it's a permanent problem or maybe it was just a glitch because of the rain.

    The people I've been dealing with were fantastic, excellent, on time, and told us that they had to get the parts. They replaced the thermostat and both elements. There was an incident previously that we are still negotiating on, an air conditioner at my mother's house. The air conditioner guy came out and said that he couldn't do anything so he reassigned it to another company. The other company came out, got my mom an air conditioning and put it in. However, he's charging us $1,365 for incidentals like the permit, a pad, and he's making up a few names that I'm not even familiar with so we requested a buyout. They offered us a $1,900 for that one. Overall it was a good service. Very, very pleased.

    I’m really satisfied with American Home Shield. I looked at other service providers, and American Home Shield has a really good reputation, and I’m happy with it.     We had an issue with a hot water heater and a stopped-up sink. It wasn’t working and it was old. It had rusted and it was leaking, so it had to be replaced. I called AHS, and I told them what was wrong, and they sent All American out here. And the bottom of where the hot water heater was, it had leaked down to the floor, and so the floor had to be replaced in that area. However, the wiring wasn’t covered under the warranty, so I had to pay for it myself. I had a problem having the money out to pay for the installation, and the contractors gave me time to get my money together, and then they came out here and they fixed it. Everything is performing well now. When I needed something done, AHS did it and they did it expediently.

    I had a lot of trouble replacing my dishwasher which was totally worn out, broken, unrepairable and ugly. It took quite a few weeks to get that done. It was back and forth and back and forth like they didn't want to replace it. They wanted to repair it. I also had to replace a garbage disposal. It was rusty and it jammed up the part where we could get it to release. Some of the internal parts also broke. The repairman tried to loosen it, but couldn't, so we just replaced it. He was here for about 45 minutes. Bang, bang, bang and he had it done. He was a very young guy and knew what he was doing. The same guy fixed the broken on/off switch on my washer. It took about five minutes to fix it.

    About five years ago, AHS replaced one part on my air conditioning. Then I also had my microwave replaced. The people who replaced it were very efficient. They had that thing out of there and replaced in about 30 minutes. Generally speaking, if you could stay away from calling on a weekend when you’d be dealing with somebody overseas, then people are very direct and get to it right away. However, they use a couple of companies that hire only Russians. People from that area are tough to deal with. They're not very polite or courteous. I don't like to have those repair people, but the others are very good. The last three people I’ve had have been excellent. Generally, the repair people AHS sends are very good and they're all local. And I like that part of it. I've been a member fo a long time and put a lot more money into it than I’ve received, but it's good protection.

    When I closed on the house a year ago, the home warranty service that was in the closing was incorrect. So, I went almost a year thinking that I had no coverage with American Home Shield and I actually requested a different company. I realized about a month ago that I actually did have service with AHS once I got the renewal information. AHS saved a lot of money on me because I did the locksmith thing, the plumbing thing, all kinds of things out of my pocket that I shouldn’t have had to pay for.

    When the AC started making noise, I said at least, we would have one thing that we could use the policy for. The contractor came out and identified the noise. It was minor. He checked the systems and said everything looked good. He did his job based on his contractor responsibilities and took care of what I needed that day. I went online to file this claim and I paid the $75 online. But there needs to be more clarification of what that $75 covers. It’s ambiguous. If I would have any other services, there would have had to be a quote. Their contract is lacking and so is their policy for the service fee. I felt like having not used ever the service, I couldn’t even get a contractor to check it out for nothing. I could have paid that and not have the contract and have somebody come out there. Basically, it was worthless to me in that regard. The Home Shield experience wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t as good as it could have been.

    I had called on a Wednesday morning and when they said, “Well, they have 24 hours,” I thought that would be 24 hours, not 24 hours of work time. When they hadn’t called by Friday morning, I called and talked to somebody and then another one. That was Reliable Mechanical Services and they just had a little glitch that time so they couldn’t get out here. So, they called, came out, and diagnosed the problem.

    I had two people come in the same time. One went down on the basement and checked on the furnace. It’s supposed to be a two-stage furnace and it wasn't doing the two-stage but he said that it was. I had him check some other thing when I was there and he took care of whatever my concern was. I probably shouldn’t have been concerned, but my husband died last summer so I’m concerned about everything. Also, it was the main one of my 2 air conditioners that went out, and it was when it was 90 degrees and I was having guests come. So, they had to get something and American Home Shield wanted them to wait to ship the thing from wherever they shipped it from to Bloomington on a Monday then they could come in on Tuesday. I had a discussion about it and they allowed the guy in town to pick up one from town on Friday, and they came out on Saturday and put it in. So, it was really wonderful and I’m a real fan of American Home Shield.

    I’ve had the program for a long time. I was also a realtor and when people bought a house, especially young, first-time homebuyers, and it was a resale property, then my gift to them was to buy them an American Home Shield policy. I got upset one time because they were doing something for my house and I looked it up, and I had purchased 32 of them out of my own pocket. A lot of times, it went through closing and I didn’t have it so they let me do whatever I wanted them to do. So, I’m happy with them. Unfortunately, I am selling my house and whoever buys it, unless I really get beaten up, I will extend the home warranty that I have and let them start out with it.

    For the five years I've been with American Home Shield, usually, the problem is repaired, and I'm not left not knowing. I have these three big spots in my dining area that I thought were water spots. They just appeared and they were as dry as the rest of the ceiling in the house. It was so odd. I called American Home Shield to send someone out to look at the ceiling and see whether or not there was something leaking.

    The plumber arrived and checked it out. He said that was not water and it looked like somebody painted up there. He said if it was water leaking, the ceiling would be soft. I really think it was coming from my toilet up there. But he said he didn't think so. He did find the pipe from the faucet in my son's bathroom leaking. But that wasn't the cause of what we were seeing downstairs. He went on and fixed the sink. He didn't fix the problem, but he did something. He said he will recommend somebody, someone who does house repairs but I haven't heard from that person yet.

    My furnace was not coming on so I called AHS and got into an automated system. Later on someone called back and said Douglas would be the contractor. He came right on out. He isolated the problem, located it and fixed it in no time at all. Douglas was one of the few contractors that I was very happy with that came out here. I haven't had not one single problem with that particular furnace again so far. I've been with AHS for a long time, and I've had two different contracts with them. They are good at covering things up to a certain point. I've had a couple of claims where they didn't cover what I wanted them to cover. However, they did settle with me on those particular claims. I would recommend them.

However, it sucks that when you use their website to do a claim, it gives you some choices about what's wrong, but it doesn't allow you to type in any description at all.     I was having a problem with the heating. The thermostat kept saying, “Malfunction. Call a technician,” and the heating wasn’t working. I submitted a claim for it online.     We needed two new springs. I assumed that was a part of the garage door opener. So, I ended up having to pay double. I had to pay my insurance to have somebody dispatched, and then we had to pay Smokey’s Garage flat out. I should have just called Smokey’s Garage first because nothing was covered under our insurance. I was frustrated because that wasn’t made very clear. But that was a life lesson for me.     I submit claims over the phone and find Home Shield's customer service to be good. When our water kept getting very cold and wasn't getting hot, Waldorf Plumbing came out, looked at it and said that the heating element was burned out. The tech took it out and showed it to me, and it was old, rusted and ruined. They just put in a new element for us to make the water hot again. It's now working perfectly. Also, we had someone come out to look at our refrigerator and they were good. They replaced the element in our refrigerator because the freezer part of the refrigerator kept getting warm. The freezer is working out on the refrigerator.

    When I called in, I heard from the contractor within 40 minutes then 20 minutes later on the same day, they were here for my heating. Within an hour and a half, they were all done from the time that I placed the call. That was very quick. They were good too. The first time I called in for something though, nobody called me for a week and a half. My daughter called her son who is in air conditioning and I had to pay him instead. The second time I called in, I went two weeks waiting for a call. They never called me. When I called AHS again, they gave me a plumber guy’s name and he knew it right here.

    There are two outfits I won’t use again but I'm still gonna renew with American Home Shield, just in case. I'm in my 80s and I can’t do too much. We just bought the house in March and to get a plumber up here will cost us a lot more than $25. The house is old and I don’t know how bad the pipes are. We’re also buying a new air conditioner because this one is old, and the rest of the stuff on the list, I'm gonna leave on there and just go with that.

    We had no hot water, so we checked the water heater. We tried to light the pilot over several times, but it wouldn’t light. So, I submitted the claim on the internet on behalf Eupheme and Svetlina. Their website was easy to navigate through. It was five minutes worth of work and it was done. Then, I had a phone call within an hour saying, "We're gonna come out and check it out." Keyliam, the contractor, deemed that the water heater was leaking so badly that the pilot couldn’t even stay up. It was all wet on the bottom, so it needed to be replaced. They’ve charged me $800 some for some things that were not covered like new piping and new tubing. American Home Shield, nevertheless, provided the water heater through the contractor. Since they have been out, the water flows better. It is a little different but it is great. We have hot water and we can take a shower now. Overall, this warranty company is excellent.

    First, I used AHS three times since I bought the policy two years ago. My first two events came at the same time soon after getting coverage. Range hood lights would not work and fan made noise and my ice maker went out. Ice maker was fixed the day after the technician came out for the range hood and that went very smoothly. But the range hood guy showed up and immediately tracked mud across my living room floor (which I took pics of) and had a very grumpy personality from the minute he walked in. He took the cover of the range hood off while I stood there. He was on a step ladder and I was on the floor. I could see a metal box with wires coming out but I could not see any of the interior from where I stood.

    The tech never opened the electrical box or even inspected it. I thought that odd as it was obviously an electrical issue with the lights. He took pictures of the interior with his phone and informed me he would have to return with a helper because the unit would have to be completely disassembled in order to fix the fan and lights. I took his word for it and the next day when I spoke with AHS they informed me that it was denied because the tech said bugs had shorted the circuit board out. I got a step ladder and took the cover off and looked myself and there was no circuit board exposed to see. I saw there was a dead roach inside the unit. I called the company the tech came from and asked what the ** was going on?? They repeated what AHS had told me.

    I told them I had looked myself and there was nothing electrical exposed that he could have seen because everything was sealed. No way he could determine a bug caused the problem. I told them their tech was a liar. They emailed me pictures of the dead roach and said that was the problem. They charged me $100 for this non service and I was furious. About this time my neighbor stopped by and he offered to look at it. He opened the box up and within five minutes he pulled a piece of metal that opens and closes when the fan is on to seal the vent. A spring had broken and the flap made the noise. He removed that and looked in the box and found a fuse had blown. I had fuses in my garage and he put in a new fuse and all worked fine.

    Total time to troubleshoot and fix was under ten minutes and this guy was just my neighbor. I fought to stop payment on the sevice fee and after jumping through hoops, disputing and many phone calls finally did get a refund. I kept the policy due to the ice maker issue went smooth. A year later I had a leaky toilet and that was fixed quickly and right. I have switched to another company because AHS keeps going up on my monthly payment. I'll be trying their competitor out and time will tell if I made a mistake or not.

    We had a drainage problem one time and the water wasn't going in. Our toilets were broken as well. I submitted a claim to AHS and they sent a plumber to my house. A day after he left, I started having a leak in my ceiling underneath my toilet. When I called AHS and explained my situation, AHS said that because the leak was coming from the vent, they would send the AC guy first to check that the leak is not an AC problem. I told them that the AC is turned off and that we might need to call a plumber first. The rep told me not to worry as the AC guy would tell them the situation and that I don't have to pay again. I told him that I didn't wanna pay two times if the issue was not with the AC.

    They sent the AC guy who didn't last 10 minutes. He asked if the AC was off and I told him we were not using the AC. He tells us that the issue was not an AC problem and that there was no water going in there. He said the leak was probably a plumbing problem. So he talked to American Home Shield and explained the situation. I called AHS back and asked we could have a plumber. It took them three to four days to have a plumber come to the house and I started having damage to my wall. The leak never stopped and by the time the plumber came, we had water in the wall. He came in and it was a quick fix. There was a pipe that was broken in my toilet. When he fixed that, the leak stopped right away.

    It was January 10th when they sent me a plumber on January 17th somebody else came in. I got a message saying "Thank you for using American Home Shield. Your job is complete”. But then, it's not. I never heard from their plumber again and I'm sitting with a ceiling with a big hole in it. After that, I looked at my bank statement and I see there's $200 of withdrawal on my account. So, I called AHS back for them to fix the hole that was caused by the plumber for me and for the $100 that they needed to refund to me. There was no authorization from me to withdraw that hundred. I've been with AHS for two years now and they have time to fix my problem. If they fix it, I'll be a happy camper.

    Discount Contractors came out to repair our garbage disposal after I submitted a claim to AHS over the phone. I called AHS on a Friday and Discount was at my place by Monday or Tuesday. That was a very reasonable timeframe and the techs who came were courteous and professional. They were super.     When I file a claim, American Home Shield assigns the contractor that day, but they don’t usually call till the next day. The contractor that came out for the heater was great. He was kind and courteous, and it was a great experience. However, American Home Shield sent out another contractor for my pool heater who was absolutely terrible, unprofessional, unethical, dishonest, you name it. I'm having to fight for a second opinion and I've been dealing with the issue for a week and a half. I'm not too happy having to wait a long time on the phone.     I had to take everything out of the refrigerator right before Christmas because it would not cool. We were gone for a while and then came back and plugged it back in. It still wouldn’t cool and was growing molds in there. It was terrible. I had this $2,000 machine under warranty for five years. The people that we bought it from were out here several times trying to fix the icemaker. I had tons of problems with this refrigerator and was about ready to give up on it. When I called American Home Shield to have it fixed, the contractor came out, looked at it and said that they had the ability to fix it. They knew what they were doing. They’ve put in a whole new part and it’s working perfectly now.

    After I sent in the claim for my freezer, Sears called the next day. It was fairly quick. They told me when they would be there, and they were there the next day or so. They didn’t make me wait long. It was a reasonable amount of time. The tech was very professional and he was knowledgeable with what the problem was. He did a very good job. He took take care of my problem. He ended up changing the evaporator in my freezer portion of my refrigerator because water was collecting underneath the vegetable bin and in the vegetable bin.

    I also had American Home Shield when I owned another home over 10 years ago and they were good then. But there was a particular time when my HVAC system stopped working and they didn't send the same technician out. They sent a whole new contractor, and I wondered about their sobriety when they were in my home. They told American Home Shield that I reached in and pulled the wires out. But that wasn't true. So when I replaced it, the technician who put in the new HVAC said the wires had melted. I tried to get American Home Shield to send somebody else to do it, and they said this was void. They wouldn’t wanna do it. They said that I had stuck my hand in and pulled the wires out. But other than that, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield since I've owned my house that I have now.

    Total Air Care came out to look at my air conditioning that wasn’t starting. They put in a new blower motor and they had to come back out and reduce it. They, however, left grease all over my wall and I had to repaint it around the thermostat. And then, on the outside condenser unit, they pulled wires out of the inside of the condenser unit and zip tied them together. But instead of tucking them back in the condenser unit, they are still sitting exposed on the outside of the unit, where they don’t belong. So, I’m not happy with their service.

    American Home Shield, on the other hand, gave me $50 back for the hand prints all over my walls, but it doesn’t fix the wires that they’ve got stuck out on my condensing unit. It looks horrible. It's good to have a home warranty, but if you’re picking the bottom of the barrel contractors to do your work for you, that is representing you. So, right now, my feelings with American Home Shield is the same as Total Air Care because that is who they chose as their contractors to send into my home. And it’s not like it’s hidden -- you can go on Total Air Care’s Google reviews and read all the negative feedback and comments. They don’t have a lot of good reviews out there. So, why would they even hire that to represent their company to begin with? The work at my house is done cheap and shoddy, and looks like it is rigged together now. I don’t feel confident in the work and I don’t feel confident that this unit’s gonna last.

O'Connor came out the next day, looked over the furnace and told me what was wrong with it and that it needed to be replaced. They went back to their office and researched it.     For my plumbing issues, 3 out of the 4 calls have been excellent and the one call that was not great was a long time ago. Gator Drain came out recently and they were great. This was the second time that they’ve been out for the plumbing. I work about maybe 10 to 12 minutes from my house, and they alerted me in enough time for me to meet them there. They were right on time and took care of what needed to be done, which was our toilet that had a small leak. It was very quick and professional.

    I also had AC issues and the AC guys have been good as well. The only issue was the guys were sourced from far away and it was like, “Oh, I’m worried about my carbon footprint. There’s tons of people here in Gainesville, why did you have to drive up from Ocala?” And that is about another 40 minutes away. Still, they did an excellent job. Then, I’ve actually had an electronics issue that was resolved really quickly also. So, for the 12 years I've had American Home Shield so far, I don’t have too many complaints as far as the contractors go. Most of my repairs have been rather straightforward and everything’s good.

    American Home Shield sent A1 for the heat pump. I did the claim through their website. The website needs some work. Sometimes, you had to make phone calls for certain things. And there was no record on the website of what the status of the claim was. It showed things like this claim was completed, but it wasn’t yet. The website was not in line with what was actually going on.

    A1 took over a month to get dispatched. It took the initial three days for AHS to find somebody, and then, they scheduled it a week out for the initial service visit. The guy came out, diagnosed it, and said that they would have to come out and complete a repair on the unit for a heat pump replacement. And then, it took another three weeks before someone finally came back out with the heat pump and replaced it. Since they’ve been out, everything’s been functioning. The only thing is in the wintertime, I was able to go out and buy space heaters for me, my kids and my wife. But in the summertime, they don’t make something like that to cool your home. So, if this had been in the middle of the summertime, my home would have been not livable for an entire month, which would have been unacceptable. So, I wasn’t too happy with that.

    We bought this house in August and all of a sudden, my kitchen sink was backing up through the disposal. I could turn the disposal on and it would pump it all out and in a minute or two, it would all come back up in both sinks. I panicked and I called AHS. I told them that I had problems with the disposal pushing things out and it was coming up in the other sink. They took the message and we had company coming on Friday.

    My husband and I got to looking at the sink and decided it was not the disposal. It was the drain pipe that was clogged up. So I called AHS back because I hadn't heard anything from anybody. I asked them to change it to plumbing since it was not the disposal after all. I also explained to them why we needed it right away. I just wanted to change it from the disposal repair to a plumbing repair.

    Two days later, we still hadn't heard anything and we couldn't wait any longer and we couldn't stand the smell and the stuff that had come up the sink. My kitchen is right off my great room. So it was definitely obnoxiously stinky. My husband was really upset. So he got into the sink and opened the P-trap and let out all of that crap out of the sink. So we had a mess under the sink and on the floor, which we cleaned up. We still hadn't heard from a plumber. So we called a local plumber and they sent out somebody on Thursday. The trap that opened into the garage off of the kitchen was old and they had to replace some of the parts. The bill was 260 bucks. So it was over with and we had the sink cleaned down and the under the sink put back.

    I took pictures of the truck, the guy repairing it, where it was repaired and under the sink and all that stuff, and I sent the pictures with the explanation to the company, and I have not heard back from them. We got it repaired and I sent copies of the receipt from the plumber and all. But I haven't heard a thing from that claim. AHS should acknowledge that they got the papers and settle the claim.     Emerald Pools was supposed to fix the pool. But then they found out it was a little more than they’ve been out for. They didn’t do what they said they would do. A few of the tiles fell out and I thought the guy was gonna replace that. I told them that if they would replace, I have the tiles that fell out and they could just put those back on. I also told them not to take it all, they should use it. However, the guy removed all of it and I don't know what happened to it. He said that he would do the tiles for about $600 and I was satisfied with the price. Now, they moved all the tile and haven’t given me anything that they would do. The guy was going to replace it with a larger tile and the whole thing was just wrong. But I’m satisfied with Home Shield and I've been with them for about 10 years now. We were just happy with it.

    I have had AHS since July last year. I've had it in the past too, so I decided to get it again. I looked around and AHS seemed to be what I needed, comprehensive-wise. It was really great that it covered 10 different appliances and you could pick them. So far, I got good service. One time, I could hear the heater turn on but there was no heat blowing out. The first person they were gonna send out had a really bad rating and I looked them up. It was a father-owned business for years and the son took it over, and the son started getting complaints about not doing things legal. I called AHS and I asked to switch and they said no. But they said I could cancel the order and restart it. AHS gave me Leo Smith Heating & Cooling and Leo was awesome. He was honest, and he got it done quick, fast and cheap. I would request him again. He really knew what he was doing. Overall, I got what I was expecting. I'm happy with what I paid for so I'm gonna keep the policy.

    We have a rental property that was not intended to be a rental property. We purchased AHS with the idea that if we're not gonna be there to take care of it, it can get pricey. We've used them and they do what they say. When they go out, there's a $75 upfront fee for all covered items. What they don’t tell you is that although your refrigerator may be stated as covered, there are portions of the refrigerator that will not be covered and that you will have to pay out-of-pocket on top of the $75.

    The same way with the air conditioning. If it goes completely out, that is covered. However, if you have to replace a $1,200 portion of the air conditioner, which we have done, it is not covered. Same thing with the hot water heater. It would have been easier just to replace the water heater, but they wouldn’t cover for it to be replaced. It had to be repaired and because it was a different type of water heater, we still had to pay the $900 plus the $75.

    There are small loopholes within the company that allows for things to not be covered. We can't afford to hire a legal team to fight. We're staying with them for this rental site that we can't afford. Our home is 11 years old now and so if anything goes out or if something major happens, we can't afford to pay everything out-of-pocket. At the same time, we've looked at going away from AHS and just putting that money aside. But we're kind of in limbo with what we can and cannot do. It's a comfort knowing that a large item would be covered, but because we've experienced so much not being covered, it's just as much as stress as it is a comfort at this point.

    AHS would say that so and so is covered to a certain extent, but you just have to see what the feedback of the individual that goes is. And you can only use certain individuals that are covered through AHS. We have a management company that manages our house and several times, we've just used them because their charges were gonna be less to repair the item. They would go out and look and see what the issues were prior to charging us anything. It was easier for them to go out and fix it as opposed to having AHS go out and possibly having it not be covered.

    For the most part, the contractors have been pretty much fair across the board. However, you can't get a second opinion when it is something major, like the water heater. We could have replaced the whole water heater for the price that we had to pay to repair it so I feel like that did us a disservice instead of a service. I wasn’t 100% sure and satisfied with the feedback and the information through the contractor. Moreover, AHS wasn’t upfront. We've been with them for six years now and they have covered several small things, so I can't completely say that they haven’t benefited us at all. But with the larger items, I don’t feel like we've benefited on that.

    My wife pays for our American Home Shield warranty which we've had since 2001. They always get somebody out. Other than the one refrigerator kid who came out one Friday afternoon who didn't wanna be here, the guys are okay. We got United Air the last time and the kid was good. He did a good job fixing our air conditioning. Home Shield has replaced the compressor on our air conditioner 3 times but they could also give us more money for our old air conditioner when they totally replace it. The only thing I would be a little alarmed about is if they didn’t cover our new appliances, but they do. They said that if we have it, it’s covered so we’re good there. Still, they could charge us less.

    My refrigerator was acting up. It was slightly tilted to the back and if there was any moisture or whatever dripped down, it formed a block of ice. The technician that came couldn’t figure it out. So, he took the whole bottom part apart – trays, freezer, all the things out. And he finally found the block of ice. He succeeded in melting it, breaking it up and taking totally back in the bottom part of the freezer.

    He said that if it does that again, to make sure that it is leveled and not change the position of it. The young man was very professional. The refrigerator has been working fine and so, thank God for that. We were right in the middle of the fact that my husband had just passed away, so a new refrigerator breaking down especially when you have people over was not a good timing. I don’t like paying 100 bucks each time though. Other than that, I was very satisfied and I recommended American Home Shield several times. Also, the technician that AHS sent to attend to my stove was very cautious about not invalidating the warranty on it, and that was good.

    We have not had good luck with American Home Shield. But this time, they were all right. Previously, we had 18 service calls on one air conditioner issue. We were not happy but they’ve now started to pick it up. This time, it was because they finally put a whole new unit into our house, which was what we needed to begin with and because the people that worked at Total Air broke it. They put the wrong condenser in, compressors, everything was wrong. And by the time the 18th call got made, they finally fixed it and sent me a new one. It was all right. But when we went to turn the heat on, they never turned the heat on on that new condenser and it was wired wrong. They went to at least four brand-new compressors. We had no heat so they had to come back.

    We went from April to September with no air-conditioning, living in Florida. I had parties and we had no air conditioning, and nobody seemed to care. We had it happen for months at a time. Then they came and put a new system in, and then it was not the right one. They used all wrong compressors. And they were charging us for the antifreeze $1,000 every time they came. And that was the other problem because it was not our fault that it dried out. They were supposed to reclaim the coolant. It’s a law. I don’t know if it was Total Air that was at fault or it was American Home Shield telling them what to do.

    The air conditioner was the only thing we ever complained about. The problem is, AHS don’t have good people working for them. I was dissatisfied with Total Air Care but calling American Home Shield was a total joke, too. You never get them and you get on-hold with them, and then they hang up on you. You call them back and you don’t have the same person. I’m not going back to AHS this July. I’m gonna find someone else because they all were horrible on the phone. We’ve gone all the way up to the highest management people and got told, “We’re doing this. We’re doing that,” and nothing ever was done. I tell everybody not to use American Home Shield. In fact, I told my Realtor not use AHS on Realtor jobs anymore. I have had some nice people that I’ve talked to but they never could get anything done.

And then after that, someone called me and they said that I would receive a message on what time someone would be here. W&W Services was here 15 minutes within the window time. When the contractor called me, he asked me what's my refrigerator and all the info and what the problem was. He said, “Definitely, it’s an icemaker. We will check if we have it available and we will schedule the time.” Then he called me back and told me they had it. So, they came the second day.     The heating unit was making a huge, vibrating noise that sounded like an air compressor. Metropolitan Heating & Air Conditioning was super honest. They replaced the screws that came loose and re-mounted it. It only took them 10 minutes. It was a guy and his son and they were super professional, informative and very courteous.     I submitted a claim to AHS because I had a microwave issue. It stopped working. AHS sent AT Appliances out and replaced a part in it. So, it's working fine. I've had about four claims altogether with AHS and my experience has been pretty good so far. I haven’t had any big issues, except I have to wait for the vendors to make the appointment. But the contractors have all been pretty good so far. However, sometimes, I don’t know if they have other options, as far as vendors being available. Like when my heater is out and I can't get an appointment till Monday. I've got to go the weekend without heat. Maybe they have others who can expedite the service. That's one thing I would ask for.

    We’ve had AHS for a long time and have been filing a claim for appliances and plumbing. It’s relatively easy. But I was not impressed with our AC system that we filed last year. Our AC went out and we had a baby. And the way that the process works is you file the claim, they give the ticket to somebody, but it could be days before somebody comes out to see it. And then once that contractor sees the appliance then they have to report the claim back to American Home Shield, who then have to either approve it or deny what they intend to do, and then reschedule that same company to come back again.

    With the dead heat of the summer with a baby, it’s either shop the money and just do it myself or we go to a hotel and pay out of pocket. So we just paid out of pocket, and I was extremely, extremely, disappointed with American Home Shield with that. They have a process, but I was told that they only have a few people that are contracted with American Home Shield. And of course in the dead heat of the summer they are all overloaded. So they’re getting to us as fast as they can but sometimes that’s three days. And then in three days, they come out, saying, “We need to replace this part,” or “We have to go back in and make sure we get it approved from American Home Shield before we come out.” It was terrible. We paid $4,000 out of pocket for our AC unit.

    Everything else has been okay as long as it’s not an emergency situation. Like we have a sink or something going wrong we could utilize another one. The microwave and the dishwasher we dealt with, and it was all fine. David’s Appliance was fantastic, very knowledgeable, very calm and communication was great. They’ve done a wonderful job. They’ve come out for our washer, washing machine and microwave. But not so much on the AC unit. I’ve heard other people’s complaints as well about the ac, so reimburse or get a company out there as soon as possible. They have to remedy the situation and have the company available 24/7 when it comes to that. I would ding AHS for the AC policy or how the system works.

    I've been with AHS for about a year and a half now and if issues with the house come up, then it’s a warranty that we have an added insurance to help with these issues. Everything was fine with our recent claim with AHS for the oven. The guy was really professional. He had been out before for some other appliance. He showed up on time, fixed the problem really quickly, and was really polite.

    My only concern that I need to address when it comes time for renewal, which is coming up in the next few months, is the cost. I had compared it to some family members in different other homes, and it was vastly different from what they’re paying. And their house sizes are vastly different, so I was gonna take that up with AHS to understand a little bit more of how they’re pricing out the monthly fee based on your house, ‘cause it gets a little expensive.

    On the top part of the water heater is a tank and it had a slow leak. It’s in a room that I don’t go into very often, so I hadn’t noticed it. It had been dripping and causing another part to get rusty. The first guy came and looked at it. At the time, he said he couldn’t see anything dripping. It was all corroded and he wiped it off. He said to put some paper towels down to make sure that it was still leaking. So, that was what I did and then, I called the next week and had a recall to have him come back out because it definitely was leaking. You could see it and it had evidence on the paper towel as well. So, the next guy came out and replaced the upper tank, which was all I needed. It was quick.

    The first technician was okay but I felt that it was obvious that with the corrosion, there was a problem. There might be procedures that they need to follow and I understand. The second technician was very apologetic that the problem wasn’t taken care of the first time and he took care of it right away. He was in and out within 30 minutes. So, he was great. I like that with AHS, you can have somebody come and look at stuff. I’m living by myself and I can handle some things on my own but when something goes wrong with the appliances, I have no idea with the big stuff and what to do with it. So, AHS has been great. They’re there and they’re reliable. The only other time I had to call was with a refrigerator and there wasn’t a solution with that one but it still works.

    I've had American Home Shield for years. Submitting a claim is very convenient and easy since I go online. Once I go online, I sometimes get a call from American Home Shield or a call or a text immediately, within 15 minutes or so, with the person identifying themselves as the person that’s been contacted by American Home Shield to assist me with my problem. So, that’s always been very convenient and quick.

    The contractors are good. The ones I encountered thus far had been ones that I would recommend to my neighbors if they were having a problem. They seemed pretty reliable.     I’ve used American Home Shield for almost 20 years and usually doing the claims is pretty easy. But you have to work your way through the numbers. You have to know the press, press, press and they get you a live person. Sometimes some of the vendors are not so great, but other times they’re very good. 80% is good experience and 20% you don’t feel like you’re a primary customer. They should have rapid response and then quick claim implementation. My last experience was very, very good. But the one before it for the same problem had dropped the ball, and the vendor never got back to American Home Shield. I never had any conversation with American Home Shield about what the problem was and how it was gonna be fixed. They have to make sure that the vendors they use are really crackerjack and understand that their responsiveness is critical to the customer’s satisfaction.

    There was a time we noticed a leak in our basement room from the ceiling. The plumber came out first and saw the leak and said it wasn’t leak. It was condensation from the air conditioning line. We weren’t down there much. So we didn’t discover the mildew until much later. So then AHS sent RG Plumbing and they wrapped the pipes for us.

    American Home Shield gets the job done and it works. I always call in to submit a claim and my interactions with the reps have been definitely great. They assign a provider to my claim and then they would call me within a certain amount of hours, maybe a day, but they respond quickly. Draingo came out and everything went well.     Everything went okay with my heating claim. Service One Air came back. They repaired it like they said it. American Home Shield was also responsive and they listened to me. The only thing that concerned me was when the work was finished. My fan is up in the attic. There was some insulation up in the attic and it came down on the carpet. They did nothing about it, but it was no big deal. Nobody would clean up behind themselves. I had to do that. But other than that, I'm satisfied with the job.

    The electric heater was going off and the contractor replaced the thermostat. He said it wasn't fitting right and it could short out, which was a surprise when he said that. It has two heating elements and one wasn't working. I just bought this house and the air conditioner, which was the most important thing for me, was serviced before. Everything was supposed to be okay but Basil, the technician, said the wires were spliced and it was producing too much heat. He checked that with the voltage and he said there was too much current going through that. It would be better to have a solid wire than a spliced wire. He said he would replace the wire and he said it was gonna take him an hour and a half. He did and he went beyond that. Nobody's perfect, but I'll give him a perfect score because he did all that.

    My son got the stuff where you do all these phone stuff and it comes on before you go, "Poof”. The technician wasn't gonna do that but he gave me the basic stuff. I didn't even know why the heating element wasn't working and he found that out. I got his phone number so I'll recommend him to anybody. Basil was excellent.

    This is my first year with AHS and I didn't pay for it because the homeowner had to pay for it. It was 500 bucks. That job wasn't a $50 job. It took half of the money right there that we put in. I'm gonna come to AHS next year and I know that if something happens, I'm gonna get it fixed, even though it might cost half of the money I put in for 500. I felt a little guilty but then I looked at it as a million people putting 500 bucks and then whenever something happens, it can be paid out of that pool. Hopefully, it doesn't drain out. I had to pay 75 though, which is a little bit steep. 50 would've been a nice number, but it is what it is. There's a lot of people out there trying to get my business and Choice seems to be trying to get us. They're calling every day but their reviews have too many complaints. I have no complaints from AHS at all.

    JED Mechanical came out to look at the hot water tank at the place. They left the paperwork, came out and did the inspection. I went on American Home Shield and had a chat with Sherry on the electronic chat and notified them. They had still not received the paperwork for the estimate from the contractor and I told them I could not wait on them for weeks on end when I have a malfunctioning heating system. The technician came out and did his job, but the people pushing the paperwork failed to do theirs, to the point where it was time to move on. Because it was wintertime in Northern Virginia, I finally ended up talking to a different contractor. I got tired of waiting on them so we ended up having Cool Factory who originally came out to do the inspection on the HVAC. They came out there and fixed everything. Overall, it was a bad experience. I was not happy about it.

    We've been with American Home Shield for three years. Our house is 13 years old and it’s getting to the point where there may be more things that could be showing up, so we thought we’d go at least one more year with the warranty company. For a heating issue I had, I called it in. I had a request that Anctil Heating & Cooling to be used on this particular claim because they are a higher-level contractor than the one they originally assigned my claim to. I was surprised that AHS was willing to do that. Anctil responded and made sure everything was working right. They helped us to understand how the thermostats can be programmed better for our usage which was good. They did fine.

    AHS has done everything they’re supposed to do. Other than the reps not being able to understand English, they’ve been fine. When you’re talking to somebody that doesn’t understand your language, you don’t really feel like that person’s attached to you or concerned for you. That’s a major factor for some people. When you want us to pay $1,000 a year for a protection plan, it’d be nice to know that you’re supporting somebody local.

    I heard about AHS from my sister-in-law. When my refrigerator was leaking, two different people came out for it. The tech was great. He came in and checked it out. The drain was stopped up and he used some kinda machine to clear out the problem. Then, he cleaned everything up and left. I also had a claim for the AC's ductwork that didn’t go that great All the insulation was coming off, but the guy that came out said something about the air conditioning. I said that it was the ductwork. And he said, “Oh.” I said that it was in the crawlspace. He said that he had to get somebody else to come out. He asked what the crawlspace was like and I said that he has to sit down to get in the door, but then you can stand up. You didn't have to crawl in there.

    He wasn’t sure about it, but I talked him around. I told him I had pictures of the problem. He said to send it to him. I said sure and he was in there for a second and came right back out. He told me that he ran out of forms and didn’t have anything for me to sign. Then, he said that he would put the information in the computer. I asked him a question and he said that he had only worked for the company for three days. I didn't hear anything, but the case showed that it was closed. I called and I was told that it says that, but it’s not really. I waited for another week and still nothing. I called and they said they would send messages to the company to try to get them to send in the information.

    Then, the last time I called, they said the claim was denied. And I asked why and they just said that everything was fine. I said that the tech wasn’t even in there for a second. I was told that he had pictures. I said that those were the pictures I gave him. I asked if I could get a copy of the report and they said I'd have to call the company. I called Max Air and the rep said that it didn’t even look like there was a report done. I told her what AHS said. She said that maybe it was in the parts department. She went, came back and she said that AHS denied it. I said that AHS that the tech said that everything was fine. She said that AHS just said that they denied it.

    I asked if I could get a copy of the report and she said they couldn't send it out. I said that I was told that they would have to send it. She said that they could give it to AHS. I called AHs back and was on hold for quite a while. They were going back and forth getting information. Then they said that they would get a copy and send it to me. But that never happened.

    I have a pool and the motor goes out about every two years. So, I have AHS and with them, there are no qualms and they just fix stuff. They replaced the motor and it’s done with. So, the warranty pays for itself. I've been with them for 20 years now and sometimes I'd get good contractors from them, but sometimes I wouldn't. One time, the contractor tried to pull a shenanigan. He tried to show me that I needed a whole new system, but I didn't. I grew up in the trade and I know enough to get me in trouble, so I called them on it and the tech remedied it without going through American Home Shield. Other than that, I've had AHS in two different states and here, I wait a little longer for a service because it's more populated. But the other location was less populated, so the downtime was quicker.

    I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years now and they should get people to have more attention to details. The people who answer the phone don’t know what they’re talking about and hang up on you. I got hung up on quite a few times about certain issues. They also told me some stories that they can’t make calls out and then told me, “Hold on, I’m gonna call the vendor.” I asked, “You can’t call me, how can you call the vendor?” And they just said, “Hold on,” then the call conveniently drops.

    I had a problem with my air conditioning unit because of one useless vendor that they have that don’t return their calls or my calls. They went out and got a mechanical permit and they got a fine for a mechanical permit liened against my property. It seems that I cannot get anybody to put in an air conditioning unit because they got fined and they don’t answer the phone. I called up and talked to AHS about that. I talked to one lady with an attitude and she said, “That’s your problem. You need to call the vendor. We got nothing to do with it.” Another person I talked to before that said they were gonna get a hold of whoever is in charge of vendors and they were gonna get back with me. That was over about 2 weeks ago and there were no calls.

    I constantly call them back about the company that they hired to do the work, and they’re saying they didn’t have anything to do with the work of the vendor and I was thrown for a loop with that one. But they should get rid of that vendor and get with more quality, better people, so that when one has a problem like this, it can get rectified, rather than tell us that we are on our own. I gotta get the fine off my property so I could get my air condition unit put in. Other than that, A Plus came out for another claim and they did what they were supposed to do. They were good. The guy was very knowledgeable and I couldn’t ask for no more than that. He was honest, easy to talk to, and easy to work with. I like that.

    I had leaks in several of the faucets. And the contractors came in, fixed it and did a wonderful job. I was very happy. However, I had an electrical claim and that one did not go well. There was a problem with the doorbell and I wanted to put a ring on there. And when I opened up, I knew it wasn’t working that well. I found that they put a battery-operated doorbell over the electrical outlet. And so, without me going and trying to test it, I asked American Home Shield to see ‘cause it might’ve been covered. And there were a couple of items that he needed to fix too. But he went out and looked at it and said, “There’s a short in the line. It’s somewhere in the wall, and you have to just use batteries.” I said, “You’re not checking things in the attic? Because there’s a component up in the attic that it could have been. Or it could have been the doorbell chime itself.” And he just wouldn’t even listen to me about it.

    We're selling this house that we're in and moving to a new house. The seller is providing us credit money for a year's home warranty and yesterday, I selected American Home Shield to cover us on the new house. We have been with American Home Shield for three years. When we bought this house, they had an Old Republic warranty on it and I wasn't too impressed with them so I switched to American Home Shield. In the three years with them, we've had very few claims and only one that was unsatisfactory, which was the replacement of a water heater. The contractor that they used was coming from 80 miles away to where we were and they weren't very professional. AHS wouldn't change. I called and I asked them if they don't have anybody that's closer or a local tradesman that could do it. They said no and that it was part of the deal. The water heater got put in, it works fine and everything but it took them over three weeks to replace it.

    Here in the Austin metro area, it’s preferable if AHS could find a contractor or a tradesman locally. I don't have to have a guy from Waco that has to drive in to Cedar Park to look at the water heater and then go back to Waco to get the parts. It was terrible. I also had an outside hose bib that broke and used the guy that did the water heater on a claim. The little old plumber guy was from a town over and he came. He was old and feeble. AHS should do a better job vetting the people that they're retaining to be on their program for its people that actually can do the work.

    AHS also needs to do a better job on the website where, I, as the consumer can really define what the problem is. So that way, when they assign the repair orders, they kinda know who to send it to. To the tradespeople's credit, when they call, they always say that they don't know what the problem is and so, you have to explain it. All that AHS does is give you a drop down menu of boxes. You just check the box and there's no way to explain. I can see they need to do something to keep it brief but if you got a faucet issue, at least you ought to be able to say that it’s broken, it needs new seats and the faucet is leaking. If they've got a little more information, working with the tradespeople, they can assign these and maybe be more efficient. That way, if they've got a particular plumber whose specialty is water heaters, then he goes to the water heater people. If his specialty is sewer lines in the yard, then it goes to that plumber.

    I used McLain Plumbing the other day on a repair bill on some faucets and the guy was awesome. I put in the repair request with American Home Shield at about 8 o'clock the night before and the contractor was calling at 8 o'clock the next morning. They were ready to come that day and fix it. We already had stuff that we had to do and so, we asked them if they could come the day after. He did a great job. We had used McLain here on a non-warranty claim plumbing work. We liked them so I was happy to see that they were on the program of AHS. A lot of tradesman contractors will not go on the program, which was why I was surprised that McLain came out.

    When my wife cleaned the stove with a sprayer, the ignition switch got wet. We thought it would just dry out but the gentleman said it had to be replaced. We waited a week for the part then he came yesterday and said that there's a wire harness that needs to be replaced. He was gonna order that, which is gonna take another week. But we can use the stove. You just press it down.

    I’m really not pleased with AHS at all. As soon as my contract is up, I’m going with somebody else because I’ve been dealing with them for some time and sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re half-assed. They could get better contractors. I’ve had some people come to my house. They look like they just came off the street. Recently, Dave and Sons Plumbing came in because we had a plumbing issue on the top floor and they snaked the top floor down. They snaked it to the bottom. And three weeks later, we had a problem in the basement, and then we had to pay for it again. And absolutely when you have a plumbing problem and you snake it out, you should snake the whole place out.

    Right after I signed up with American Home Shield, I had a problem with the air conditioner. I had to have the fire department out here because we were smelling smoke and we didn’t know if it was a fire, but they had said that it was the fan pump. So, they got up on the roof and they seen that there was melted wiring. Everything kicked in as it was supposed to. So, whereas before, my previous provider, there was always issues. I was never happy with what they did. So, I have no concerns about calling American Home Shield again. I had a heating claim and it went very well. The young man seemed to know what he was doing and he did the job. He answered every question I had and gave me some feedback on some questions I had about future possibility with the unit. I was happy with what he did and he fixed it.

    We had a clogged toilet and we weren’t able to use the downstairs bathroom for a couple days. I submitted this claim online. Sometimes, it's a little tough to get through the website. It's not flexible enough. If I have the same problem within a couple days, it doesn’t let me do it. I'd like to see a brand-new slate. But the contractors from B-N-K Plumbing were very good. Everything is fine so far. American Home Shield is not cheap, but they get the job done. And if there was any huge cost, they would cover it.

    When the sink needed to get fixed, I filed a claim with AHS. Moreno Plumbing called me and set the appointment up. They were very topnotch and took care of everything. When the plumber looked at the sink, he said that the seals were gone and that the faucet needed to be replaced. The people knew what to do right away. They had to get a referral to get my faucet replaced. But I didn’t hear back from Moreno in a day so I called AHS to follow up on it.     Recently someone from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out to service my air conditioner and heater. The contractor came out within two days after I did the service request. But they were supposed to call me before they came and this man just showed up at my door. I was really deterred by that. I really wanted them to call before they came. They only serviced my heater and just put a battery in my thermostat. He didn’t change it. He said they don’t service air conditioner when it’s raining. I told him to write down that he didn’t get the chance to do the air conditioner because it was raining. I’m supposed to call them within the next 60 days in order for them to complete the order. Then transferred to a marginal-at-best ESL voice who promptly asked for the same information plus several other 'verification questions.' Thence transferred yet again to another speaks--little-English voice in Manila who asked for the same information yet again.     Home water heater failed. Called American Home Shield to submit a claim and have them create a work order which they did. Reputable plumbing company was dispatched to my home to confirm the water heater had failed. Technician verified the water heater had an internal water leak and was not repairable and the entire water heater would need to be replaced.

    Technician stated that it was going to cost me out-of-pocket approximately $230 because the water heater he would be allowed to install, the plumbing and the water connections were in different locations on that one as opposed to the current one that I had so these pipes would have to be rerouted to adapt to the new one. I checked shortly after the technician left and in addition to that while he was here he confirmed that the water heater that I currently have we’re still being manufactured.

    Needless to say American home shield is causing the rerouting of the pipes problem because of not replacing it with the same model so the additional expense is being created by them not me. Shortly after he submitted his report to American home shield, they called explaining That the rerouting of the pipes would not be not be covered under my warranty of which I have the second level enhanced plan. That plan states that the water heater and all components are covered. The technician said nothing about a disposal fee of the old unit while he was here he looked at my contract and was satisfied from the language he read that the disposal would be covered under my warranty.

    After having a heated discussion with the American home shield representative that called me, she stated that in a specific section in my contract it said that I “may” be charged a disposal fee; however, nowhere in the language of the contract does it say I will be charged a removal fee. I find it very amazing that a new water heater can be installed without the old one being removed, I’d like to see that happen before my very eyes! I told her I would not be paying for the removal of the old one so that the new one could be installed because that was not stated in my contract, And that I would not be paying a disposal fee because the technician could simply leave the old one sitting in my garage and I will dispose of it myself.

    She said I would have to discuss that with the technician. I told her, "I do not have a contract with the technician. I have a contract with you." She continue to skirt around the fact that she didn’t have to state in the contract where I was responsible for a removal fee, which there was no way she could because it’s not stated in there. She also said I had the option of taking a cash out which means they would simply pay for the water heater and I would be responsible for having that one installed by a contractor of my choice. I declined that option.

    I’ve had this warranty for over 7 to 8 years and I’ve only had one other claim regarding a furnace fan and all that time. As a consumer if you are reading this long winded explanation I’ll let you decide whether or not spending $71 and change is worth all of this inconvenience and aggravation that I’ve experienced with American home shield. When my contract is up for renewal in July you can bet it’s not going to be renewed. I’ll take the $71 I pay them a month put it in my savings account and insure myself. The only thing I can say at this point; in my opinion American home shield warranty is not worth the paper it’s written on.

    I have been an AHS client for over 10 years and for the most part have been satisfied. However, when my water heater started leaking a week and a half ago was when all the problems began. They got a plumber to come out right away who determined the water heater was leaking and needed replaced. At that point all the customer service on the part of AHS went out the window. The plumber turned off the gas and water to the water heater so we had no hot water. It has been a week and a half and I am still on hold with AHS who is trying to find out where my water heater is. The issue is that AHS orders the water heater and has it delivered to the plumber to save a few dollars instead of having the plumber supply the water heater or AHS buying it directly from local supplier.

    I called a local supplier a mile from my home and they have 11 of the water heaters I need in stock. AHS keep telling me that the water heater was ordered and that it should be in right away but it never arrives. It is now Friday and the weekend is coming up so it looks like we will be without hot water for another few days at the very least. Once AHS finally gets the water heater delivered to the plumber, I will have to then schedule installation when they have the time. Ahs just got on the phone and is now telling me that they have emailed the supplier to find out where the water heater is and is supposed to call me back once they find out. AHS is great when you have a problem and it is not an emergency. If you actually have an emergency my suggestion is to call a local plumber and get it fixed it right away. You might pay a few extra dollars but you get the service done instead of waiting for AHS TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO ON THEIR OWN TIME FRAME.

    The response time has been very quick and the cost is reasonable. My washer went and they tried to repair it, multiple visits and replaced it, and it covered the whole cost. It was full coverage and I found that as the most impressive thing for me. Convenience is key. Because with all these other home warranty companies, their biggest thing is they only cover possibly half or certain services. The only thing that I wish was a little bit different is the inability to combine multiple needs into one setting. If I need my refrigerator fixed and also my AC unit, I have to do two separate work orders, so that's two separate deductibles.

    We had a plumbing issue and AHS sent out Water & Drain Works. Everything was perfect from calling and getting the information from American Home Shield as well as in getting with the plumber. And the plumber came very quickly, even almost the next day. She came as advertised or when she said she would be there. She was also very efficient and professional. She told us exactly what the issue was and she got everything done perfectly. She knew exactly what she was doing and everything works great now. The whole Drain Works family is wonderful as well.     We were visiting a friend of my sisters in California and she was talking about an insurance that you could get on your appliances. I told her to tell me about it and so, she did. I came home and the first thing I did was sign myself up with American Home Shield. She gave me a very good recommendation and I've been happy. I had a hot water heater that went out and they did an excellent job on that. This is the second time I've needed them. I have a heat pump that runs my furnace and my air conditioning, and it had been misbehaving. The fan on the unit outside would stop and then, it wouldn't start back up again. I've had to go out and use a little bar that I found and give the fan a flick through the grate on top to get it up and running, which isn't a good thing because if that fan isn't running and the system is working, it can burn the whole system out. I was concerned about it because I'm not up and about to hear it and I don't want to start to do that.

    We are planning on going on a vacation the end of the month for probably four weeks and I was concerned about leaving it. I called American Home Shield and told them that I was having problems. They told me that the contractor would call me and he did. Four Seasons was excellent. The technician knew what he was doing and the fan that he put in is running far quieter than the original fan ever did.

    While I had a good experience with American Home Shield, it was a little bit difficult to contact their office directly. But once I was able to talk to a rep and explain what's going on, then everything went smoothly. I submit the order and whoever the service needed then they would contact. But making schedule is not easy and takes a long time. But I understand that everybody is busy. Still, there is slight miscommunication because when the person comes and sees the issues, or the time comes to fix it, the guys do not know what exactly is the program.

    For example, I said, "Refrigerator is leaking, then temperature is not right, it goes freeze everything." Then he says, "Okay, I will write a note." But there was some miscommunication. The range was not fixable so I got a new range. Then the time came for him to fix washing machine and I asked, "How about the refrigerator?" He said, "Oh, AHS did not approve to do anything." I asked why but he did not know so I contacted AHS. But it didn't all go through well because of the answering machine. It took about 3 days to reach them and then I explained the situation. So after that, technician looked at it more closely and found some issues in my refrigerator. It has already gone and melted some hole that's why there was freezing. Finally, AHS approved and granted to purchase a new fridge.

    I like to have a clear communication. Once the technician comes, I'd like to find a report that time and not waiting a long time then everything is case closed. I didn't receive any case closed letter from AHS. So on real-time, I would like know what's missing. Like in my refrigerator problem, I didn't know until the second time the technician came to fix the washing machine and I found out that the refrigerator was not included. They told me that it's case closed and everything's done, but it's not done. Other than that, I will keep the insurance.

    We've been with Home Shield for at least 12 years. I stopped and then I got it back. It's not what it used to be like before I stopped it. But I like to have peace of mind that if something breaks down, I can just call and I know they are going to find someone to help me with what I need. Before I would get a callback within the day. Also, a couple of the companies that they have sent were not so professional like they used to. It would take you longer to get to, like if you need them in an emergency. Getting ahold of them is very hard. I have had them come back again and again three times. I would be like, "Really, guys?" until they found out what the problem was.

    I was telling a coworker and she said it's too expensive. "Why if you guys don't use it?" I told her, "I just like to have peace of mind." I'm not in a big city. It was during the summer and it was hard for me to get a plumber. So, for that, I said, "You know what? I'm just gonna go back to Home Shield and not worry about it."     AHS sent Budget Rooter to our home to replace a garbage disposal and we had very good experience. The guy knew what he was doing and was done within 30 minutes. We need to follow up though on the refrigerator. We’ve called for people to come and work on it about four times already. They can’t fix the icemaker and find the part. AHS said they would give us $3,000. And we’ve been looking for a refrigerator to help save AHS money and us because we have a built-in, and we decided we’re not gonna go with the built-in. We’ve been a customer of AHS for over 20 something years and would recommend it. My sister also has it on their home.

    The young man that came here for the dishwasher was great. He looked at it and knew what was wrong, and then he ordered the parts. When the week was up, though, I thought that I should’ve heard from them by then. I was without a dishwasher and I hadn’t heard from them. So, I called AHS back. The gal said she would call the contractor and get after them. But I wasn't angry. I just need to know when they’re coming. They did get back to me when they got the part and my appliance eventually got fixed. It took a little longer than I expected, but that’s the business. I used to have warranties with Sears for years, and the issues are similar. So, I’m not complaining at all. I don’t like to feel dismissed, and I wasn’t.     We had a heating issue. My house was new construction, so when we turned the unit on, it immediately started sucking dirt through the system. But on top of that, it wasn’t installed very well so we couldn’t get the air filter in there properly, which was then allowing dust to build up throughout the system. So the technician that AHS sent came out, and there were a couple of pieces he had to take off and clean up really well. And then he also did a little work on the place where you put the air filter in, and now the air filter slides in properly. So, I was satisfied with the work he did. AHS did really well with customer service. The people that I got on the phone were people I could understand. That’s a big deal. They were also quick in setting an appointment. I called and I got an appointment that day. I couldn’t ask for anything better than that.

My husband spoke to AHS customer service and he was pretty angry because they said it was gonna take a couple of days. Sometimes, it takes a little while for AHS to get somebody out here to help us at our house. I guess it’s difficult for them to find a contractor. Otherwise, their contractors have all been good. When we had a plumbing issue, our given contractor was First American Plumbing. They called me and set up an appointment then called me when they were on their way. This time, I didn’t have any problems. But I did have some with my dishwasher experience. We had AHS for years and I was really happy. But it seems that lately, they are struggling. American Home Shield has customer service in India. And the time when I tried to contact them, it was a nightmare because all their replies were “I’m sorry,” and “Thank you.” And calling a manager was an ordeal just to hear the same “I’m sorry,” and “Thank you.” So, I was worried. Everything that used to be very easy, now it’s difficult.

    I was not too pleased with the first guy who came out for the claim I submitted to AHS. He came out three or four times and never got my issue fixed. He ended up putting an icemaker which I didn't need. I had to call again which AHS charged me another $100 for. The guy I talked to on the phone for AHS was very rude. He told me that he couldn't help me as the repair should have been done the first time. I told him it wasn't my fault that it wasn't done and that I had to call seven times. I gave up after that and hung up on him.

    I called again two or three days later and got a lady who was very nice. She sent a guy out. AHS charged my $100 the day I called when the first time, they waited a month or two. Still, the second guy they sent from Sears was very good and he took 15 minutes to fix my problem. I was very pleased with him. I've been with AHS for a couple of years now. They ought to get rid of that first contractor who was an independent dealer.

    I’m a real estate agent and use AHS for all my clients. Also, I have several homes and use them for all my homes. Sometimes, the guys who've come were horrible, but sometimes, they were good. I'm still with them because they have a great representative, Carrie. She comes to our office and represents AHS for the real estate agency. I’ve used AHS for about 15 years and All Valley Appliance has been the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of. They also provided the fastest service.

    I called on Friday and not only did they contact me within about 3 hours of my initial request, but they also came out on Sunday at the appointed time. I'm happy to get with them.     When you try to call in, you wait on hold for a long time to get someone from AHS. But going through the website is a lot easier and a lot better. You just describe your problem and what the appliance is. They then tell you who's gonna repair it and they take their copay at that time. Then you get a call within 24 hours from the repairperson and work together to set up a time for them to come over.

    I liked the guy who came for my water heater. He has always taken really good care of us. He's always been prompt. And he has always called me to let me know what was going on and what time we were gonna meet. I've had a really good experience with James and have recommended him to friends who don't have a home warranty. I love American Home Shield and have recommended them to other people. They have been a godsend to me. We've had them for several years and they have not balked on one single thing that we've called in to have repairs on or replaced.

    American Home Shield picked a person to handle my claim and said that he was gonna come out. The young man who came out was excellent and very polite. I had water coming out of the washer onto the floor and he found what the problem was. But it wasn't even something that had to be repaired. It was just pushing the hose back down in the pipe and securing it so wouldn't slip out again. I shouldn't have even needed an insurance person but I didn't know. And instead of ripping me off, he just fixed it.

    I've been with AHS for about 11 years and when I had a huge plumbing problem a while back, they sent less than good plumbers and it was the fourth plumber before I ever really got the problem fixed. They do not choose good companies on the whole and they try to go as cheap as they can. Then several years ago, the guy they sent didn't fix the problem. He came back about two times and after that, he never even answered the calls anymore. I had to call someone on my own. I then wrote AHS a letter explaining it all and they reimbursed me.

    I've been with American Home Shield at the very least 10 years and I liked the service better in the past than in more recent times. There's the fact that I could call someone and typically have them come out on the day that they said they were gonna come out. I could also get my appliances fixed as quickly as possible. In the most recent years, it seems that it takes a much longer time to get someone to come out than it used to. I typically call in when I have a claim. I'm used to that although I know that I can go online and do it there. I’m sure that if I did it online, it would have been just as easy.

    The contractors have been fine. When In Control Plumbing came out, they said that what needed to be done. The tech said he would have it by so and so. He gave me his my phone number if I needed to contact him. I was able to contact him in a few days. He said he was gonna pick something up that day and have it installed that day as well.     There was a problem with the heating unit. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the first person that showed up didn’t do a very good job. They wanted to replace the whole unit and charge lots of money and all these kinds of stuff. So I called American Home Shield and told them I was uncomfortable with that contractor looking at this unit and if we could get a second opinion. AHS took care of me and assigned another contractor who came within an hour and had the unit working. He said the unit still has a lot of life on it. And the only thing was wear and tear -- the outside of the gas valve was damaged. AHS has always been reliable and very informed. They have somebody assigned to me within minutes, so I know who’s coming to fix whatever problem. I've been using AHS off and on through the last 15 years. I've used them before on different issues and it’s always been well done.

    I switched to AHS from a different insurance company that wouldn’t replace a bunch of things. Every time I tried to call something in, the other company tried everything they could to not cover the item. Also, AHS has a better price and everything has been faster. Even when parts have to be ordered, it has been way better being with them. They resolved a water pressure issue on the well.     There was a problem with my cold water faucet in the bathroom. I had issues with it before and had used a different plumbing company, not realizing it was covered by American Home Shield. It could never work quite right and then it got to where I couldn’t turn the cold water on at all. So I contacted American Home Shield. It happened on a weekend and a guy from Mclean came out on Monday. They were on time, did an excellent job and was very professional. I will use them instead of the company I had been using.

    The plumber identified the problem really quickly. The handle was bent and it didn’t engage. He tightened it on both ends, which the prior plumber evidently didn’t do. He explained to me what he was doing. He also explained to me that I might have problems with it in the future because this was a universal tap faucet and he explained what I needed to do to fix it long term if it reoccured. But I think this is probably not gonna reoccur. He did a good job and I was pleased with the service.

    Our master bathroom faucets weren't working right. One was stuck in one position and not getting hot or cold and the other one wouldn't get past warm. I submitted the claims online and it worked really well. We had Air Pro Master come out and replace something on the side of the faucets. American Home Shield's basic service is fantastic. They're pretty darn good. The contractors have been excellent. They usually get ahold of us on the same day that we put a work order in. They're very good about calling us before they arrive, giving us a half-hour window or so and very polite when they come out. They're totally understandable and they do the work really well and get it done pretty much on the first visit.

    We've used AHS three times since we've had the policy. I had an issue a year or two ago that took a while to get resolved. They kept saying that someone should be calling me back and no one ever called me back. So, I had to keep calling and it got a little frustrating. That level of communication could improve. If there would be an issue that would need to go the next level, I would like to be able to get ahold of somebody and not just say somebody would call you back and I'd have to call and keep going back and forth. But the other couple of times we've had to use them, it has been super. The girl we talked to solved the issue and it was done within a week.

    We got two AC units on our house. Our house is pretty long, so one side got our heat and air unit, and the other side got a heat and air unit.     I get my stuff fixed through American Home Shield and I have them for 15 years now. I've researched other companies, too and I get a better job done with AHS than the other ones. But I dislike the timespan in getting everything fixed. I'd contact them and they'd contact the person that would come out. Then they'd contact me and I'd find out when they could come and when they couldn't. And occasionally, they'd say that they gotta order parts and it’d be a few days. Usually, the process takes a little longer than I expect, but it’s that way with all of them. Overall, the contractors they sent out were pretty good and most of them seemed nice.

    Other than that, I just had a water heater replaced and they informed me that if it has to be replaced, AHS was supposed to replace it. But they didn’t replace it and it cost me $600. They said it was because of some kind of code which was upgraded through the years on my water heater. Also, it was supposed to have a water pan and it didn’t have one, so I bought one. They should improve the wording a little better on the contract where it's clear when something will be replaced or not, or have an asterisk to it where it says "Subject to this."

    The BPM contractors who came out were awesome people. They came in like a big ol' team, got the problem done and got out. They were very informative and they cleaned up after. I'm very OCD about my house and they were very clean. I like American Home Shield. Their customer service reps were nice and their service was fast. I had read some of the reviews where some people supposedly went out and it took forever for their problem to get finished. Mine was timely. It was good and I'm satisfied.

    AHS has been great. We've been with them for a year and a half now and every time we put a claim in, it cost us 100 bucks. But we recently had a horrible experience with one of their contractors, Hopwood Electric, and it's the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. Our heater goes out every time it goes cold and when we filed a service request with AHS, that was the company that they assigned to us. We talked seven times and they'd put some duct tape on something, then they’d come back and they’d screw it up again.

    They replaced a part and when they came back the next time, they said they didn't put the right part in and had to replace it. Then the next time they came out, they said they didn’t hook up a wire correctly. After that, they came back and said that the breaker they put in wasn’t big enough to hold the two compressors we have on there. And when they came out again, they said something else was wrong. Then, they came out two days ago and fixed something. But when it got cold last night, the heat went off again and it was 35 degrees in the house. All in all, we won’t be renewing with AHS and we’ll find somebody else.

    I noticed a leak on the top of my hot water heater because the pipe was corroding. That was about 7:00 at night, so I shot a message online. By the following morning I had a phone call around 8:00 AM that the contractor was ready to come out if I was ready. The gentleman who came out was extremely courteous, very quick and kept me up to date the entire time he was there as to what he was doing. He wrote up his documentation and was on his way. I didn’t have to do anything. The claim was amazingly easy. The guys from AHS have been absolutely fantastic.

    My garbage disposal was leaking. I went on American Home Shield's website to request for a service and it was easy. Then, they assigned Flow Right Plumbing to my claim and the contractor called me on when to expect the tech out. When he did, he was on time and very professional. He was nice as well and he really did a good job. There was a screw loose and he made it tighter. There was also a screw missing and he fixed that. Everything's been fine since the repair and I haven't had any leaks.
