    Gimino's Appliance Repair came out to service our appliance request to AHS. The washer wasn't emptying correctly, and there was water on the floor. It leaked and I thought there was a problem, but when the technician came, he couldn't find any problem. And it hasn't had a problem since the day he looked at it. He went over the machine with a fine-tooth comb and didn't see any problems whatsoever. He was great.

    Sometimes, the process of AHS works, sometimes, it doesn’t. It’s miscommunication somehow or another. Last year, my furnace went down in the dead of winter. It took them more than seven days to find a repairman that would service a boiler. They sent three different contractors out in one week, and when they got there and found out it was a boiler, they said, “I don’t know why they even sent me. I don’t work on boilers.” I finally had to wind up getting a friend of mine that runs his contracting business to come out and repair my furnace. I had to pay for it out-of-pocket, and then they reimbursed me sometime later. I thought that was not very good. I almost dropped AHS then.

    And then recently, I had my washer worked on. The guy came out and put a bearing in it. The first time I used it, it sounded like an airplane taking off and like there was a bag of nuts and bolts in the spin cycle. He said to shut it off immediately and to not use it. They'd send somebody out. The technician came out, looked at it, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

    Then it leaked water all over my floor and ruined my floor. And then I found out AHS doesn’t handle secondary damages. So, I complained to the billing department about it. The first time I asked them about that, they said they'd split it with me. And I said, “No, that’s not good enough. I pay a lot of money every month. This is wrong.” So, then a supervisor said they would not charge me the $75. This was Friday and then Monday, I looked at my bank account, they charged me the $75.

    Then after my washer ordeal, the guy that worked on my washer said the water leaking on the floor was coming from my supply faucet. Both my faucets were leaking. So, I called AHS up and made another claim. They sent two plumbers out that didn’t do faucets. And finally, when they did get a plumber out, he was from over a hundred miles away. That’s not cost-effective. That’s wasting our money that we’re paying them for our warranty service, which in turn drives up our prices. They said that was the only one they had. I had water running all over my floor for two days. And I called them and told them that. And they said they had expedited it. It was expedited for one day, the next day I called back, they said, “No, this is just in regular. There’s no expedite.”

    So, after they fixed that, I had to call the guy back out. He took my washer all apart, and he said he couldn’t find anything. So, I had to call back in and tell them I needed a recall. The owner of the company that sent this one gentleman out, came out. He took my washer all apart, he was here for an hour and he determined that I needed a new washer.

    Yesterday, the appliance department was very nice to me. They worked with me really well, and they actually even found me a washer that matches the one that I am replacing color-wise, and the name brand, which he told me doesn’t happen. They don’t do that. But it just happened to be the washer that came up that matched all the specs.

    I’ve had AHS for quite a while and I pay 66.99 a month. And that water was running down on my floor for two days, so I had to replace the whole floor. And I thought that was pretty sorry that all I got out of it was $75, and I still haven’t even got that. I think it should have been a reactionary call immediately. They should have been able to find someone. It’s not that hard to replace a couple of faucets. I probably could have done it myself, but I didn’t wanna have to mess with that being that I have AHS.

    I submit a claim online, like submitting a ticket, and once it goes through, American Home Shield contacts a plumber. They will send me a text or email who they got ahold of.     The AC was screeching and it was really loud. I didn't realize that it was running nonstop, but we couldn't get it to stop. We were using the heater, so I didn't know that that wasn’t supposed to be on. A guy from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came over and with us telling him what was happening, he knew exactly what it was. Apparently, there was some button that was supposed to go off but it was stuck so it never went off. He replaced the part and everything was working fine 10 minutes afterward. He showed me the part that was bad and what he replaced. He was here about 15 minutes and he got the problem fixed. He was awesome and everything’s great. I wish we did it two months before, but we didn't. We're going on the third year on our coverage with American Home Shield and everything that we’ve claimed has been taken care of in a timely manner.

    Everything went well with my AHS claim. I was always kept in the loop with them, so that was nice. Originally, the window I was given for the contractor to come out was all day, and then, the guy called me in the morning and gave a tighter, two-hour window. He called me when he was on his way about 15 minutes out, and then he showed up on time. He was very nice. He looked at everything, ordered the parts and told me about how long it would be till they came. And then, I got the knobs and it was fixed. It was quick and easy.

    The dryer didn't turn on anymore. I did a claim with American Home Shield and my experience was great. I did it online. It was very easy. Everybody helped me out. Sears came that same day that I reported it and then took a few days for the dryer to get in. They said they couldn't fix it and I needed a new one.     When there was a leak under the sink in the kitchen, I filed a claim with AHS. It was the weekend so I did it online. It was very easy and I've had no problems every time I’ve used it. Just after I submitted the request, I got a text message telling me that the contractor would come out the next day. The contractor thoroughly inspected all the pipes under the sink and came across the leak. It came from the garbage disposal and he replaced it right away. AHS has a good variety of what they cover. I’ve been with them for years, but have now switched over to another company. However, my experience with them was very satisfactory.

    My heater wasn't working for some reason. I submitted a claim with AHS and they assigned May Heating & Air to my claim. I called the day them to make the appointment and they came roughly the next day. It was late that evening but the tech made it. He said it was just a circuit breaker, so he flipped a switch and my heat was working.

    I have American Home Shield for over two years now and so far, they've done my refrigerator, my garage door, a dryer, a washer, and my air conditioning at one point. I've been satisfied with customer service and I've had no problems with them. Every time I've called and voiced my concerns about a particular issue, they were quick to respond. And when it came to me canceling service orders, they were quick to assist me and not charge in my bank account for the service fee. The customer service and the folks I've spoken to were very helpful, too. They weren't overly technical with their explanation on things so it was easy to understand. Also, I started off with Home Shield for a year then I went to another competing warranty company and they were just god-awful. I went on and satisfied the terms on my agreement with them then I went right back to Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has been very good. Our heater had gone off and when I called in the claim, I told them that I didn't want them sending some amateur up here to work on the problem. They told me they've got five people they could call. I picked the one they should call and they did. That company came out and they said it needed a part. The gal at Romano Electronics spent all day on the phone to trace the part down. They got the part and put it in the next day. They did a wonderful job. I couldn’t have asked for any better service. We were happy.

    One plumbing place AHS sent out were kind of jerks. Our water heater was not working and it took them four days to come out, which was not cool. We told them that and they said that we just gotta wait. But they were able to fix the water heater. And everybody else has been wonderful. We've been with AHS for about five years and they've been very prompt. Submitting claims have been very easy and sometimes, we get a response from whoever they assign it to within a half-hour. AHS does an outstanding job in customer service. Overall, they're excellent and we always recommend them.

    In submitting a claim, you have to make a phone call and tell them what the problem is. They then arrange somebody to come out to your house and fix it. There is no paperwork involved. It takes a day or two for somebody to come out and the contractors that they use know what they are doing. They are quality people. The person from Quality Appliance Service showed up on time. He corrected the problem in my refrigerator and I haven’t had a problem since.

    The only time we had problem getting somebody here was when it was an air conditioning problem and there was a heat problem in the whole community. Everybody’s air conditioners were out, so it took a while to get the part. But, other than that, you can’t fault the person for that. That was a few years back and the air conditioning runs fine ever since. They have also replaced my stove and washing machine with quality products. I've been with American Home Shield since I bought this house, and I recommend them to people.

    American Home Shield sent Home Service Corporation to fix our furnace. It started in October. They came out after two days that I filed the claim. They said they had a lot of calls. The guy said he had to replace the sensor and left. And then things were going off and on. And then we finally just went on and called back as the weather got colder. This time it didn't take long. The person said that it was something with the sensor again and it still didn't fix that past Friday, so then, I called back again this week and he came back out. It was still the sensor and then he said the thermostat needed a battery. But so far things has been doing good with the heater already. Also the reps from AHS were kind, courteous and helpful. I've had AHS for a long time and haven't had too many issues.

    Heart Broken.... My water heater busted some time between Jan 24th and Jan 25th. I called AHS as soon as I saw the water gushing out. They said I had to pay the $75 before they can have a technician come out to inspect the water heater. I asked if they had a way to contact their contractor for assistance in shutting off water going to my heater and they said there was no answer. I then scrambled for the next 30 min trying to figure out who to call and how to shut off my water (nearly impossible at 8am on a Saturday). I finally got a hold of someone from their contractor, they informed me there was no one that could help due to no technicians in that day (thank God for neighbors that could help during my crisis). This was all just the beginning of what I feel is awful customer service.

    Their contractor came on Monday Jan 27 to look at it, literally took a picture and left. Took days and my initiative to contact both their contractor and AHS before I could get an exact answer on what the modifications are that would cost me an additional $475. I was being bounced back and forth between their contractor and AHS for 2 days. Between that time, we noticed lifting of my wood floor not 1 spot but 2 very large areas. I called AHS on Jan 3 to report the damage that was present. AHS asked me to have their contractor to inspect to see if it was caused from the water heater because I didn't have an additional $75 for a new request claim. On Feb 6th their contractor came to install the new water heater and informed us that it was caused from the busted water heater.

    I called AHS on Feb 6 to inform them that Their contractor inspected and stated it was caused from the water heater, the lady on the phone gave the whole, "Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that, let me look into this." 10 minutes later she said that it is caused from "Secondary Damage". I informed her of my contract and what was pitched when sold to me, she put me on hold for another 10 minutes; when she returned to the phone, she stated it is not covered because she read my contract. I continued to ask her how it is secondary damage, she was quiet for a while till she finally said, "Well it's not secondary damage."

    At this point my frustration was through the roof with all the bouncing back and forth, not having hot water with 4 kids for 13 days and damaged floors in a result of AHS not having that extra mile customer service. In total I spent over 40 minutes between her lack of clarity and waiting for the manager. I worked for Audi as Customer Service Representative for 5 years and never have I had a client crying and yelling just asking for some help.

    I am in tears writing this because instead of them having a thorough inspection and stating from the beginning, "We are not going to cover the additional damages for XY and Z" they gave me the run around with no real explanation. I am now scrambling trying to figure out how I am going to fix my damaged floors that should have never became this bad. If I could post photos I would. After the water heater was installed I asked for an itemized receipt, it’s been a week and nothing.

    The oven wasn’t working. Lilian was cooking something and it started heating up. And then she turned it off and it seemed the oven was still running for a while that they couldn’t disconnect it either because it was really hot and they couldn’t find the outlet to it. They never put it into their heads to turn off the breaker. So, they just turned on the fans and opened the windows. And then she knew that she had the Home Shield insurance. So, she called and let them know. 3 Boys Appliance Repair then came out and checked it, and they told her that it was giving her an error on the oven which said, “Call your Samsung with this error.” And then the guy figured out that the error code meant that it was the cooling fan that needed to be replaced.

    The contractor took three weeks to get back because they had to order the cooling fan, and then they fixed it. They checked it before they left, and they turned it on and saw that it was gonna turn on to the actual temperature of 375 or 400 degrees to see if it wouldn’t turn off because every time they would try to turn it on to 175, it would turn back off. Also, they were very clean and professional. They just came right to what they needed to be here for, and they did their job. Lilian hardly turned the oven on, but she used it just to make sure that it was working correctly, and it did work. She preheated it first, and it went up to the 375 or whatever degrees she wanted to. And then she started cooking for about 30, 40 minutes and it started working really fine.

    We've had a really good experience with AHS. Recently, we were having an issue with the heat was turning off when it should have been continuing to go on. What the technician ended up finding was that the elements within the inside of it that regulate the temperature was just a bit corroded and dusty. So, he cleaned it up and got it working again and we haven’t had any issues then. The contractors of AHS have all been very professional. They all do a great job of calling ahead of time to let us know when they're anticipated to be arriving. And so, it's really clear communication all around.

    We've told people about AHS and we've had a couple of people sign up based off our recommendation. We've talked about how well the system of AHS works with it and that the ease of getting somebody, and that you don’t have to worry about getting referrals on contractors and knowing that you're getting a reliable contractor coming in, that they just handle that full piece of it, and then if there's an issue, they'll fix it no matter what the problem is.

    Once you get the appointment and talk to the person, the contractor is out within a week. They're very knowledgeable about what they're doing. They fix the issue and you're good to go. When I had Appliance Service Masters come out, the tech was really great. He was very friendly, very professional and courteous. He knew what he was talking about and he fixed the issue. It was done within half an hour. I had to leave work, go home and come back. So that was really great. He handled the situation pretty great. I’m very satisfied.

    We had received a notice from our utility company that our water usage was out of the norm, and they suspected a leak. So, we did a food coloring test in the tank, let it sit overnight and when we woke up in the morning, there was a leak inside the house, in one of the toilets. The contractors that AHS sent came and they sealed that up, replaced the component, and then he went outside to double-check it. He turned off the water into the house, but the meter was still running.

    They spent time trying to diagnose what the problem was at that point, and as it turned out, the components had deteriorated in a water softener that we have, that’s stored in the garage. So, we called Culligan, which is the water softener company that services it, and they came out and fixed it. But the plumbing company came out to fix the interior leak. Everything’s working well since they came out. The contractors were great as well. We’ve used them a few times now, and they’re always professional, and they know what they’re doing. I have good confidence in their ability and very satisfied with their customer service.

    I went online and submitted a claim when we were having issues with the electrical outlets. When it showed Turner Electric would be the company that would be calling us, I got worried because it was in a totally different area code. I'm in a 559 area code and Turner was in a 530 area code. I thought they got the wrong client. So I called customer service to tell them that I'm in Fresno and the people they hired are in a totally different area code. They explained to me they had a local office or worker here in Fresno.

    The rep started asking me questions where the problem was, and I was more specific, and I was able to give him more details as to where all the issues were with that outlet because it was all connected. We had an issue with the outlet behind our sofa, then there were two or three in the family room and it connects with the bathrooms. It turned out it was all under the same electrical line. Turner Electric did an awesome job. They took care of it. From the two claims I've had with American Home Shield, they are the best ever home warranty company. There are so many home warranty companies out there that people have and it is true, they turn in a claim and they're denied. So I feel very fortunate with my plan.

    The water heater was not heating. I called American Home Shield and the representative was fine. The only thing the guy from 1st American did was come in and say he was going to replace the temperature control and essentially, the guts which would be thermocouple, the igniter and the pilot on the inside. And then he turned around, walked out and charged me $186. But the heater didn’t work. He had to order parts. The next day, I got an email that said parts weren’t available, which really wasn’t true, and that American Home Shield authorized a replacement. The replacement was gonna be $1,100. Apparently, the credit that American Home Shield was gonna give me was going to be $300. So, I would’ve spent $1,400 plus the $200, and I’m assuming the 186 I was gonna be charged for a moderately priced water heater.

    I called the guy from 1st American and said, “I’m trying to understand how much the water heater is gonna be versus just the labor,” but he never returned my call. And when I called him, he was out of breath. If I’m a client, regardless of what they’re doing, they should give me a call back. I still haven’t paid the 186 because I’ve been waiting for American Home Shield. I went with a different plumber on my own and American Home Shield was supposed to call me so that I could submit my own. I spent more on my own plumber but I got an excellent water heater. I’m wondering if American Home Shield is worth it.

    AHS has done an excellent job. In October, I called AHS to get the garbage disposer fixed. The pipe was leaking and when the contractor fixed it, he didn't put something long enough on there. A few days after the 60-day window, that pipe came loose. I called AHS and they had to put in another order. I'm not gonna pay $75 when the guy was supposed to have fixed the garbage disposer the first time. When I called the plumbing company, I couldn't get any help, which was why I had to call back and get Golden State Plumbing to fix it.

    The contractor was very helpful. He talked me through things and told me that there wasn't anything wrong with the pipe. He said that it just needed to be switched around. I also had him do my bathroom. He did an excellent job. When AHS went up on their rates, I looked around to see if I could get somebody with a lower rate. But there was only a dollar difference so I'm just staying with AHS.

    We've been happy customers of AHS, so far. I've had them for a couple of years now and I like their claims process - it's pretty friendly and mobile. Whenever things go wrong, the first thing we go to is their online portal, and there have been no issues from a user experience standpoint. Plus, they've gotten better over time. Most recently, I had two issues and they sent Water Control Plumbing out. I had a faucet that was leaking in my bathtub so every few minutes, you hear like a drip come from the faucet. Our toilet had a leak to it as well. The gentleman came out and ordered a new part for the tub, which took a few weeks to get, then eventually, he came back and installed the right piece. When he fixed the leak that was in the tub, the leak that we experienced with our sink was fixed as well. He also helped us with another drainage issue. So overall, I'm really pleased with the service.

    I had a really good visit with Jessie. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I really appreciated his time and patience. I had an issue with the ceiling fan and I submitted the claim online. But American Home Shield's website is not the most user-friendly. For example, when I do certain things with my HVAC, American Home Shield usually picks some random company. But my system is zoned and I usually need Air Temp to come out. So I wish there was a way where if you had a really good experience with a particular company, that it would give you the opportunity to communicate that so that that company could come out. Because I’ve had issues with respect to that in the past, and they sent some company out that I’ve taken a day off work, and then the company comes out and said they were not familiar with the zone system. And then American Home Shield ends up having to come out.

    In some instances, their contractors were really good. This particular time, Jessie was amazing. He showed me what the issue was. It was one instance where he was on a ladder, took a picture, and he came down and told me what the deal was. I really appreciate the contractors where that’s the case. When I had an issue with plumbing, I found that there was a leak under the sink, and the guy told me he didn’t see anything. I had the garbage disposal replaced but it leaked even more afterwards. It was so much leaky stuff that my kitchen cabinet collapsed. I’m trying to figure out how to get that addressed, and then in the bathroom, it leaked and leaked and leaked. I talked to the guy about it, and he said he tightened something up and then it leaked some more. I ended up paying out-of-pocket to have somebody different come out. But the leak ended up damaging the cabinet and my floor, and I still haven’t gotten that replaced.

    If I have a certain quality of item and something needs to be replaced, I’ve had to go out and purchase the same quality because American Home Shield was only gonna put in their base model, which is not usually acceptable. That happened with the ceiling fan. The guy told me that American Home Shield was not going to replace the quality of the fan that I have. He added that he had them on the truck and that it’s a base model white with the two lights.

    I went to Home Depot while he was disconnecting the rest of the stuff and bought a new fan so that he didn’t have to come back out. He was still doing everything when I came back and he installed the fan that I purchased. So I paid out-of-pocket for the fan because I don’t want American Home Shield to just give me something that is not the same quality. American Home Shield should at least honor the value of the quality of what is being replaced. Overall, American Home Shield is helpful from a certain standpoint, so that I have some coverage. But some of the people they send out are sloppy.

    When we bought the house, we had the homeowner put a warranty on it for a year. I haven’t had a problem with American Home Shield. It’s fairly easy to navigate the website. I submitted a claim in December but I didn’t get a technician until January. So, I was a month without an oven. The technician from Hall’s Electric Service was very nice, but we did have an issue after he left. One of our light was not working. He did inform us that he did not mess with that light fixture that was working before. He worked on the panel that the same light fixture was in, and that we would have to call. He was very polite. He fixed the issue, but then when I called the next day because of the other issue, I was informed that because it was a different light fixture at a different section, I would have to resubmit a new claim.

    My claim with Fast Response Heating & Cooling went pretty well. The heat is working perfectly now. At first it was just blowing cold air. The tech came, did what he had to do and left. It didn’t even take him 30 minutes. He had to pull something out, clean it and put it back in. He also showed me where the air filter goes because the people who owned the house before me had it renovated and when they sold this house to me, they didn’t tell me anything. I never even knew where to put the filter in. The tech pulled the filter out and it was dirty. He said it was another problem. I bought the house in December and the filter must have been in there way before December.

    He did an excellent job. He had good customer service too. I asked him a few questions and he was able to answer those questions. He had also come a little early because he had finished up the job. So it worked out fine. As far as American Home Shield, the customer service was pretty good as well. They put the claim in and got me somebody right away. It was great because it was cold and we got tired of putting on five blankets to stay warm. I don’t like getting cold. I can’t sleep when I’m cold. They responded pretty well.

    I had gotten my AC unit cleaned by someone locally and they told me that there were two different issues with my AC unit. The guy told me that I had a R22 unit and that he topped it off, and there was an issue with the secondary drip pan and that they had to replace a thing. I called American Home Shield and had them send someone out to clarify that. When All South Air Systems came out, the tech said there was no issue, that the unit is a R-410A unit. He told me what was going on, checked and ensured that they had not put R22 in my unit.

    He did everything right. He showed me firsthand that the unit was in working order. He showed me everything unlike what the people that cleaned the unit did. They didn’t show me anything and then took money from me. But I was able to recover my money from them for me having to call American Home Shield to have my unit serviced for no reason. Everything’s good now. It was a very reassuring experience, overall. I have always recommended American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has been really good with me. I had some concerns in the past, though. One time, I was told something was covered on the dishwasher, but when the guy came to do it, it wasn’t covered. So you should call and talk to a person directly. I used to always get a lady, either in North Carolina or Tennessee, but now I get people in Vietnam, and it’s hard to communicate sometimes. But if I call back and get somebody in the United States, then it usually gets taken care of.

    Now, I’m still waiting to finish up the service for a claim, and their contractor did a fine job on what they’ve done so far. Their guy took care of the shower and the toilet but the faucet was frozen on and he couldn’t get the handle off. He said I need a new handle but American Home Shield would only cover one that you’d get when you build an inexpensive house. He said it wasn’t a very high-quality faucet, and that if I wanted something nice like what I already had in there, I’d have to buy it myself. So, I told him I’ll buy it myself. It turned out that was covered under my warranty from the faucet when I bought it, so the company is sending me the handle. It was back-ordered though. The guy said he’ll come fix it as soon as I get the part.

    There was a unit with my refrigerator that froze and it froze all the water in the back so water wouldn't dispense out of the dispenser. There were sheets of ice back there and it would make a loud popping noise every once in a while. Then the washing machine wouldn't drain. I submitted the claims for both of them through a telephone call. The rep seemed capable and committed to doing the job and the technician seemed to know what he was doing. The tech took over two hours to work on the washing machine and the refrigerator. We had to make a phone call because he wasn't quite sure how to access the part that he needed to get into and he talked to somebody about that. But I still have a bit of a problem with the refrigerator that hasn't been addressed. It dispenses water but it periodically makes loud popping noises like the ice cracking again.

    I never had difficulty when filing claims with AHS. I've had them for close to 2 years and I always just called in and reported the problem rather than doing it online. They were very helpful and there were no problems. Recently, there was a problem with the washing machine. The motor was making a lot of noise. The contractor came out, did a diagnosis on it and told me that to get it fixed, they would have to order some parts. He told me what was wrong with it - the motor was bad. The next thing I knew, I received a call from American Home Shield, and they told me that they chose to replace the washing machine rather than fix it. They sent me a link to order a new washing machine and within a week, I received a new one. The guys came in, did an install, took the old one out, and made sure the new one was working. It was great service.

    When the AC people put the compressor in, they said that it sounded like it was kind of weak or didn't know how long it was gonna perform. They said if anything happens, to call back. But I didn't like hearing that because I don't want a piece of junk put in my AC unit and if it's gonna be going out within a year or two. I do notice now when the AC kicks on, the compressor is pretty loud. I had to pay 480 bucks out of my pocket for Freon and that was a big expense on my part. So if they come out again and I have to pay that again, I'm really not gonna be happy. But they did a good job. Everything went pretty good. They were quick and very professional. Every time I called the tech and I left him a voice mail, he contacted me back pretty quickly. He gave me whatever information I ask for. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

    It would have been nice to get a call from American Home Shield to let me know what was going on. They should have better communication with their customers so that we're not wondering if it is gonna take a week or a month or two days. They should let us know something because I didn't know anything until a week later. Also, American Home Shield only called and told me that the contractor was coming out the next day, so they didn't give me time to take off from work.

    Initially, I had made a mistake of putting down the wrong item on my claim with AHS, which I thought was the item to be fixed. They sent out a person to fix that who then came out but said they couldn’t fix it because it wasn’t the actual thing that they work on. When I contacted AHS back, I had explained that. The customer service was saying that I would have to be charged another fee to send the right technician out, but they waived that and re-initiated the request. I appreciated that.

    It was probably a 24-hour turnaround before they were able to get a hold of someone and send them out. The individual who came in was a really good guy. The claim was for the garbage disposal. He looked at it, took the old disposal out and put in a brand new one. He put in one that was a different model, which he said would probably be better. And if I were to wait for the model that I had, it would probably be about another week and a half before I’d be able to have that item fixed. He already had a different model and he said it shouldn’t matter because it’s just the upgraded model. So, he replaced that and everything was taken care of that same day. Everything, from start to finish, was pretty good. AHS should continue doing what they were doing.

    The very first time AHS sent Anytime Home Services, they were quite slow in response. It took seven days. However, the second time we had an issue, they came out within two or three days, which was much better. We had a faucet that would not turn off and I had to go outside the house and keep turning the water on and off at the entryway.     We had a problem on getting our refrigerator fixed a year or so ago because I couldn’t fix it, then we had to replace it with a different kind and we didn’t like that. But that is what the warranty said so it was okay. We got a refrigerator. They did everything okay. The contractors were good and professional. They had to order some parts. So when the parts came in, and they had rescheduled and another person came, but all three different technicians knew what the problem was and what to be done. Sears did a good job.     I normally just call the 1-800 number and go that way as opposed to doing it online. I may not be at my computer when I think about it so it’s just easier for me to dial the 1-800 number and let the automatic send me through to what it is I was looking for. When my heater motor went out, A-US Air Conditioning came out and replaced it and they did a great job. Good customer service. I knew the guy. He’s been out before for issues with the heating and my air conditioner. We used the same company the last three or four times. The guy came out on time, diagnosed it immediately, repaired it, and went on his way. I've had Home Shield for longer than eight years and it was only once or twice that I had a bad contractor, but 9 out of 10 have been good contractors. Home Shield has been a good service to me.

    I called in for a plumbing issue on the phone and spoke with a live person who did a great job. Response Plumbing & Rooter Service called and said when they were gonna come out. They came over quickly, they did not waste any time, and they knew exactly what they were doing. It took them about 30-40 minutes to replace the garbage disposal. They wiped down the counter when they worked and made sure that their shoes were covered with those pads to protect my floor. They were very professional and friendly too. I was happy with the service. Since they have been out, the unit has been fantastic. American Home Shield does a great job. I have had them for years and I would not change with anyone else. They replaced my refrigerator, washer, and garage door opener as well. One time they also fixed my microwave when no one could fix it.

    A few years back, one of my cousins had service work done on an air conditioning unit through American Home Shield, and he was satisfied. Since most of the things in my house were getting a bit old, I thought that would be time to sign up for a home protection thing. I did and I've been with them for a year now. When the drum of my Whirlpool clothes dryer wasn't turning, I called their customer service line. It went through a couple of prompts and then I spoke to someone. They gave me the phone number of the contractor, then I called them and told them that I needed to schedule a service call. I called on a weekend and Emerald Appliance Repair came out the first part of the following week. The tech was very personable. They changed the motor. It worked for one cycle and then it quit again. We called and rescheduled. He came back out the following week and rechecked a couple of connections, and it has been working fine since then.

    When I submit claims, I call them and tell what the problem is then they call whoever they have. Their guy will call me and say, “Your American Home Shield called us and we’re coming out on this day.” When my heater wasn't cooling, a tech from Mehl Mechanical was sent out and he thought he fixed it one day. He popped it on and it came on, but then it went back and it was out the next day. If I put the heater at a certain temperature, it wouldn’t kick on. So, then he said, “Okay. So, I know the part.” He brought the part the next time and the heater has been running perfectly now. I bought my house in 2005 and the mortgage company told American Home Shield about it then they called me. They asked if I wanted the home warranty and I bought it. They're good. I recommended it to my daughter and she uses them now as well.

    AHS sent Watertight Pool for a pump. They were very efficient and had me take pictures of the pump motor before they even showed up the first time. They showed up prepared to replace it and got the whole thing repaired in one visit. And when we had a plumbing issue, the contractor had to order a part and come back a couple of weeks later to fix it.

    However, we’ve had issues, especially with the AC unit, which was in a different house. The AC people that came out were incompetent. It was slow, bad service. They said that the unit was unrepairable and tried to sell us a whole new unit for about $8,000. I sensed their incompetence and called somebody. I didn’t even tell them it was under warranty. He looked at it and said that whoever has been working on it really screwed it up. He said that he'd fix it for $500 and if what he does doesn't fix it, he won’t charge me a dime. I was able to get AHS to reimburse me for that after they had already approved a repair for about four times the money.

    I also had a bad experience with a refrigerator repair. Sears was supposed to service it. It took them over 30 days to even say that they were gonna come out and look at it. They made it sound like they were the only game in town that could service the refrigerator. When I got on the internet, there was a whole list of people that can service refrigerators. I was frustrated with that because my daughter was living there. She had to live out of an ice chest for 30 days with two children. I ended up calling somebody else and pay it out of my pocket. AHS reimbursed me for the greater portion of what I paid. But they should try to find better refrigerator companies. Also, I can tell by people's answers that they're reading a script or being told what to say with an unsatisfied customer. I’m frustrated, but I try not to lose it with them because what’s the point? They only have so much authority.

    AHS wants things to be repaired for as little as possible and subcontractors want to find some way to make money. My gut feeling is that they were a little dishonest. They should have a policy where you can make your warranties available to other qualified vendors. Overall, we’ve had good and bad experiences with AHS in our around three years with them. But chances are, we are gonna renew our policies with them.

    I had a slow draining shower and Lone Star came out after a couple of days. My husband said that the contractor was awesome. He took the guy's card to call him again if we needed him again. I prefer submitting the claims over the phone to American Home Shield, but I seem to always end up doing them online because that is the only way I can get ahold of somebody. It is faster to do it online. I like having the home warranty, but the last time we had their contractor come out for a toilet issue, I felt like the guy was trying to overcharge me at the time of service.

    A guy from JM Appliance came out and assessed the situation on the dishwasher and the refrigerator. He said that it’d need some parts. He told me that either he or somebody else would come out. I said I want the same person because you see this a lot of times where somebody’s passing the buck. So when the other person comes out, he might find something different. He said that he would do that. I even spoke with JM himself, the owner, and he said, “Yes, we can do that, no problem.” They then sent somebody else out when JM had already confirmed with me that it would be the same person. So, we had to keep rescheduling until the same person could come out and finish it.

    The woman I spoke with on the phone was very helpful. She got in touch with JM and told them, and that they’d have to honor it because they were also gonna try to charge me for a canceled appointment. She was very good. The guys that came out were very good too. As for JM, he shouldn't tell somebody one thing and do another and think he can get by with that. I have not met him but I’m just glad American Home Shield got on top of him and made him follow through on something that he promised that he could do. So far, everything’s working. I like American Home Shield very much.

    I like American Home Shield's online thing. However, my wife did a recent claim and said it’s probably the last time she’s gonna do it because it wasn’t very helpful compared to the automated line. The automated line is relatively simple, but if you have a question, you can’t get it on. If they had a chat feature, it would be better. Online with chat would have been probably the most preferred answer.

    For the washing machine claim, a valve had rusted and leaked. The service tech had to replace it and had the parts in his truck. This trip was unusual. It's the first one in a number where the guy came out and was able to fix it the first time. We’ve often gone weeks waiting for parts because they had to order them through American Home Shield. They couldn’t get them from a normal source they had. It put added significant time delay and the wait time is one to two weeks with Home Shield. It usually gets resolved, but most often, it seems like we have to order a part and wait, so it’s almost always two trips and usually, a week apart. My greatest issue has been with my pool. The quality of some of the technicians coming out has been less than stellar so, it’s taking me two or three tries I had to make secondary investments and secondary calls to manufacturers to prove to American Home Shield what the problem was, which was disappointing.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield are all done online. I'm pretty tech-savvy so it's great for someone like me. I've only had three house calls and I haven't had any problems. Everything has been fine. The only thing is that when submitting something online, what happens often is I just get either a text or an email telling me what time the appointment is. It would be nice if there was a way to have more flexibility with the appointments rather than just arbitrarily getting a time especially during a workday. I'd also like to see the house call fee be a little lower. $100 is a lot especially for the routine stuff. But overall, it saved me money so I can't complain too much. Recently I had a plumbing issue and AZ Remodeling and Plumbing arrived on time and got the job done.

    The first person that came out for my heating unit opened it up, took a look at some stuff and then identified three parts that he thought had to be replaced. He said that he was gonna take that into the office, and that the person that ordered supplies wasn’t the sharpest tech in the world, but they would get back with me and he’d probably see me within a week or so after they ordered the parts. The next day I got a call from them that said they cannot order the parts and that they didn’t make them anymore. They said they were sending out somebody to inspect the ducts for measurements on this to make sure that they were ordering the right unit if they have to replace it.

    The guy came out here and he took a look at my ducting system and the heating unit. He spent about 15 minutes underneath the house and told me that he got the measurements. A week later, I got an estimate from them for $5,200 for duct work, which was a surprise. Nothing to do with replacing the heating unit. I was surprised that I don’t have duct work covered in my policy. There’s competition out there that covers duct work. If it was there and available, I would include that in my monthly policy payments.

    I wanted a second opinion so I called American Home Shield. I told them that Leo Smith has been out here before and he seemed pretty knowledgeable. He is local, and that’s important because we’re up in the High Sierra. So instead of sending somebody from Sacramento area that’s 65 miles away, we ended up with somebody that’s in the general area and services a bunch of stuff. So he came out and looked at the whole system. He said that the guy who previously came should have put these back together instead of leaving the parts apart like that. I told him that the guy thought he was gonna be back in a week to be able to put this in. Then I told him the story about the parts not available. He told me that my unit is older but it was still in good condition, and those parts were readily available.

    After checking the system, he told me that it looked like it just needed nothing more than a routine cleaning. So he took his time and cleaned the system out. Then it fired right up and everything that was supposed to not work is working just fine. So I was really disappointed in the first company that came out. I felt like they were trying to rip me off, and that they would be ripping off American Home Shield too because they were gonna replace a whole unit that was not necessarily needing to be replaced. That was a surprise. But other than that, Leo Smith was straight-up and honest. He did a good job. He cleaned stuff up. I highly recommend him wholeheartedly. His attitude and professionalism was outstanding. He had enough parts for basic routine things if that would have been an issue or if I needed one or two of the parts that they were suggesting that I needed out of this whole unit.

    I recently had some issues with the knob to turn the water line off from the house that goes from the inside to the outside. The service technician said that the knob was very old so he tightened it up and recommended a different type of shutoff valve that was a little bit easier to turn on and off. I felt comfortable with him and he resolved the issue.

    Everything has been working out fine with Home Shield and I've stayed mainly because of the service. But I had one company replace my heat pump and my furnace and I was pleased with the service for the most part but they sold me things that I did not need. Before they resolved the furnace issue, they were interested in quoting me prices for all the work that I needed to do in my home and I didn't like that. I felt that they were there to resolve a particular issue and not really try to market or sell anything else until that issue was resolved or until I was totally satisfied with their service. I've also used some of the companies as a follow-up to having other work done. I base my decision to follow up with them or to get them to do additional work on how they responded to the work that was requested through AHS.

Sirius Plumbing and Air Conditioning came out to fix a plumbing issue. When I flush, it would leak water when the tank fills up. I explained it to the tech because I did not know what was happening, and he fixed it. He was great. Everything in my house is original, so it is a good idea that I have this home warranty.     The dishwasher went out and it was scheduled to be replaced and we ordered it. The problem that we had was getting it installed. They sent a team out when they brought the dishwasher. They got it in, took out the old one, and then said they couldn't install the new one. One of their reasons was a cabinet between the dishwasher and under the sink, but there was a hole there made for running lines, because the old one was set up the same way. They said that they didn’t have the proper line and I needed to go get a line, etc. They said that that was my responsibility because that was considered a modification. They said it was between me and American Home Shield. I told them that if that was case then they should reinstall my old dishwasher and they could check and see when they could come back and install the new one.

    The most disheartening about the whole thing was one of them told a blatant lie to their supervisor and to American Home Shield to the point I was ready to get an attorney and sue them for defamation. But my wife told me to not waste the time and money since I know I didn’t do it. American Home Shield sent another team out and it cost me $100 because unbeknownst to me, by me not accepting the dishwasher, I had to pay a restocking fee. They brought the dishwasher, and again, they said they couldn’t install it. So I had to go out of pocket and I found another plumber who could come out and install it. I bought a six-foot water line because the water line that came with the unit was only about four feet. If they had told me that early on, I would’ve had that there because the water line was only 17 bucks. I'm very dissatisfied with that experience.

    I usually call in my claims more than online. Initially, the calls are answered by an answering machine. Then you have to tell them what you’re calling for if it's a new service or to check on an existing claim. And then it goes to a person. But one of the things I have experienced was depending on when I call, I will end up going to Tennessee or some place. Sometimes, I end up going to Tennessee where I speak with someone where English is their first language. But majority of times, I go to a call center where English is not their first language, so there are some communication barriers. Oftentimes, the individual on the other end, they hear the words that I'm saying but they don’t understand necessarily the context in which I'm saying them and get the meaning of what that is that I'm saying. That in itself creates some problems.

    The experience that I had with my refrigerator was even worse than the dishwasher. The refrigerator freezer went out on December 28. It took over a month to get the replacement because of the language and interpretation problem that I had with their rep. The individual who came out and serviced my refrigerator went back, told them that it was not repairable but to replace it. But the person on the other end took that to mean replace not the refrigerator but replace the part. We went back-and-forth and back-and-forth about that interpretation. They sent out another company. That company said the same thing and finally, the refrigerator was replaced. The downside to this was my wife’s brother who is a cancer patient is recovering in my home, and he has medication that has to be refrigerated and this medication runs about $700 a week.

    We have about 10 properties with American Home Shield. I typically submit claims online and it's very easy to go through the website. Usually, it takes about 3 days for someone to come out. Sometimes, it also takes a week that I have to call back over and over. Still, the contractors are usually very good and I’ve been very happy with almost all of them. Recently, we have a septic tank that was stopped up and Steven A. Mills Plumbing was sent out right the next day. Even the claim submission process was an excellent experience that time. The plumber took care of the problem and he was great.

    Even where my HVAC system in my own home was not working correctly, I called American Home Shield. They sent somebody out, and the guy talked and stayed a couple of hours. Yet he basically said there was nothing he could do and American Home Shield was not gonna fix it. It was an old unit and it needed Freon, and we were putting Freon in for two months but it wasn’t working. He didn’t call back and he didn’t do anything even though he said he’d stop by the next week. So, I called American Home Shield and they took care of the problem by sending somebody out here to put a new HVAC system. I have really good experience with them and I’ve been very pleased.

    My washing machine was not filling properly so I submitted a claim through AHS' online website. The site was pretty easy to figure out. Then, they usually say they would be contacting me within 24 hours and I would schedule directly with the contractor and it would be less than 24 hours. For the washing machine, Pro Services came out and they needed to order a new piece that had worn out. It took about a week and a half to get the part in and then to come back out, but it wasn’t super urgent. The washer would sometimes time out but it was still functional. It has been working fine since they came out. Also, they were there when they said they were gonna be, they fixed the problem, and they were friendly. I was pretty satisfied with it.

    The ice machine wasn't working as it wasn't producing ice. GE Appliances came out and the tech said that it was leaking and almost caused a fire. He switched out the whole motor and everything's working great now. It was my mom who signed up with American Home Shield and we've had the warranty for a few years now.     I told AHS that I got a problem with my microwave and they sent Big Country out. I said that the microwave wasn't working and keeps blowing my breaker outside. They sent somebody out. Every time the contractor was out, they looked at it and said that they had to order the part. Then they came back out, put the part in it, said that should be it. It worked once after they left, then blew again. They came back out and said that they were gonna have to put the same part back in. Then it blew again.

    I called AHS and said, "Let's get another provider to work on it." The provider came out and said that the issue was something completely different and that they gotta order the part. That was at the end of January and here it is, in the middle of February, and my microwave still doesn't work. It's been out for over two months. I'm not happy right now. I've contacted AHS seven times, and I still haven't got the situation fixed. I don't know why they can't put in a request and say, "Let's get this man a new microwave." I've taken off work four times, which took money out of my pocket. Also, I don't know when they're gonna show up so I take off work for four hours every time.

    American Home Shield said that Sears was gonna be contacting me within 24 to 48 hours. Guess what? That was about five days ago. \When Sears comes back, that would be five times. And I don't think that's gonna fix the problem. The tech said something with the door latch. I said that that wasn't gonna fix the problem. The microwave is not gonna work when he puts a door latch in because it has something blowing on the outside. Moreover, I keep getting phone calls and emails about updating my subscription with AHS. I'm not doing it until my stuff is fixed. Why should I have to give them the money right now when they didn't fix the issue?

    The refrigerator side was freezing then everything was melting on the freezer part. Two different companies came to look at it. The first company said it was a seal problem so they had to call back AHS and then AHS had to send a different company for the seal problem. But everyone has been professional. They just didn't diagnose it early on and kept saying it was this or that.

    They're supposed to be coming out again on Wednesday to replace another part that they feel is wrong. If they feel that it's not worth to repair it, then I don't know why every time they say that they'll order a part. One of the parts that they said I needed was no longer available. They already told me that it would probably not work again even after they put this new part on it because I don't have the other part that they said I need. I don't even know why it's even necessary to order a thermostat on it if they feel the other part is needed as well. But then I'll have to test it out again to see if it works. I'm not able to buy groceries. I've been eating out for the past few weeks. It's just frustrating.

    I have you been using American Home Shield since 92, when we bought the house, and the contractors they usually send out are highly variable. But 100% of my experiences turn out to be positive. However, it isn’t always the first shot that gets it positive and sometimes, I have to deal with multiple people at American Home Shield to get what I want done. Too often, I dealt with folks on the phone and they want to get me to no and of course, I wanna get to yes. But I'm gonna get to satisfied and sometimes it takes 5 minutes and other times it takes a month.

    I don't have anybody else that can fix a problem unless it's the American Home Shield person. And if they refuse to fix the problem, then what am I supposed to do, hang up the phone and just suck up the $75? That's not happening. Initially, the service people are uncooperative on the phone. In a latest claim, I got Flash Garage Door Service and they took care of the radio in the garage door opener that had stopped working. Also, a couple of versions of the website ago was wretched but the current version of the website is really good.

The technician was on time and very professional. He had to go get parts which is understandable. He had the wrong parts on his truck but it was no big deal.     I have had American Home Shield for years on two rental properties. I have had occasion to call them for a washer repair, which went fine. I suppose this is because the $125 deductible covered the entire cost of the contractor visit for them. Now I have a problem with the AC, which is going to be significantly more expensive and they are running me around. They sent out the first contractor, who did not have the equipment to fix the problem. He sent a report back to AHS outlining the problem and what needs to be done by another contractor to fix the AC and get it back cooling.

    The "authorization department" has had this report over 48 hours and still has not authorized or scheduled the repairs. I have called a dozen times and cannot get anyone to give me any information other than it is with the auth department and I have to wait for them to get back to me. Now my tenant has been sitting 3 days in hot Florida without an air conditioner. They will not let me talk to anyone in the auth department, will not put a supervisor on the line, and are basically holding me hostage because if I go ahead and pay someone to expedite these repairs they are not going to reimburse me. As I said, I have paid for policies for years, and this is how they treat me. I WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone at this point. The minute you have a major problem, they are not there to help.

    Submitting a claim to AHS is pretty easy, just a lengthy hold time when I call. And I'm not always in the mood to deal with the computer so, I do a lot of phone calls. But lately, it's been a little faster it seems. Also, the people that are on the phone are nice and good. They pretty much know what they're talking about. My heating claim with AHS was perfect. The contractors came, they fixed it, and it was done. So, we were good.

    I also had a plumbing issue. I had a faucet that was leaking, and the contractor decided the faucet was bad. Then I don't know if he blocked it underneath because it was still leaking, and it took him from December till two days ago to get me the faucet. He got a faucet after about a month, but it was too short. I know he knows the difference between a four-inch and an eight-inch. But, somehow, they ordered a four-inch, but he said he didn't do the ordering, the people in the office did. They had to take that back, and I had to call AHS five times because every time I called them, there was a girl that answered the phone and she said, "They're out in the field. They'll give you a call when they come in." But they never called me back. And then AHS even called, and they never called them back. It was a big old mess.

    Then three days ago, they called me on Thursday if they can come out, and they came out Friday, and they put it in. It was a brushed nickel faucet and the one they got looks more like the chrome one. And I wasn't too happy, but I'm happy I got a faucet. For two months in the master bathroom, I din't have a faucet and that was pretty bad.

    The contractors' name is JR Plumbing. And they messed me up a long time ago after they came out for this plumbing issue. They also did my water heater. And somehow, they told me that AHS doesn't cover the water heater, and I had to pay $800. And I don't even know if that was the fact or not. I don't like them at all and I don't want them coming back.

    I had an annual contract with Delta. They come out and check everything for me. During this check, because this is a new house for me, they had found a couple of things, like my heat pump. Then up in my attic where my heater, my furnace and my air conditioner are, they found some condensation. The guy took a picture and said it probably needed to get taken care of sooner than later, especially before they turned my air conditioner on. So he said he would write all of it up and that way, I would have it when people come out to take care of the heat pump. That was when Platinum came in since they contract with American Home Shield.

    Platinum came out and did my heat pump. The guy even went up there in the attic and he said, "Okay. I got it. I will make a note." I showed him the other note from the other heating and air business. He said he would submit it and let AHS know what needed to be done. I've got to follow-up to see if they are gonna send somebody out to take a look at it. But the guy from Platinum was really good. The only one that I struggled with was the guy that came out from Van's Appliance to do my stove. I could hardly understand him and I don't think it fixed the problem. I had an extra $75 to put another claim in. That aside, so far, I've been really happy with American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has been responsive as far as the service calls we've made. I've been using them for a couple of years and submitting claims online has been much easier. It’s automated. You need to email back and then you get an email saying that you should get a call from the contractor before they go out. When contractors need to replace a pipe or a water heater, oftentimes they’ll say they have to make special modifications, which will cost an extra $300. The hot water wasn't that old, but it was something that was not covered and I had to pony up another 300 bucks. That has happened on several occasions. I suspect that sometimes that there have been some special modifications, but I don’t think it was every time.

    We bought this house in June and I agreed to a contract because everything was very fast - the purchase of the house, the closing. It happened within two weeks and we were scared that something will not be working in that house. As the final condition to close the contract, we requested the seller of the house to buy a home warranty for the first year so we’ll be sure that everything is functioning because the price was high and we didn’t have time to check everything. They agreed on that and they paid for the first year.

    American Home Shield's contractor finally fixed the furnace that we were requesting the service for. They came fast. The first time, they were fixing another furnace and they changed the thermostat on that one. The other one on the fourth floor had the same thing but they didn’t pay attention to that. It was working for a while, then it stopped working. AHS sent us a different company for that one, but they didn’t fix it. They said the grounding was making the problem for the furnace so they cut the grounding of the house. It didn’t work again. We called the electrician to fix the grounding of the house that the second company cut. They said, “We are here just to check the grounding. The electrician thinks it’s coming to your furnace." And they were gone without fixing anything.

    Again, the furnace was not working so I called for the fourth time. I requested the first company to come because they fixed the other one on the first floor, so I was hoping they would find out what was wrong with the one on the fourth floor. They were supposed to change it the first time because when I called for that one on the fourth floor, they checked both the first and the fourth floor but they were focused on the first floor. They said something was wrong with the control panel. They changed it but they didn’t pay attention to that one on the fourth floor that I was calling for. The first floor has been working since their visit. They paid attention to the fourth floor on the second appointment and they fixed it. They said there was something in the computer inside that they needed to change.

    I was calling American Home Shield a few times trying to fix my furnace. When I tried to call, the call was disconnected. When I was trying to chat different people, the internet was interrupted again. Every time, I had problems calling especially for the grounding with the electrician one, that thing was not fixed, and I didn’t even know what he did. It was a misunderstanding. Usually, miscommunication between different technicians. The electrician cut the grounding, then the second company that American Home Shield sent focused on something else. They just checked the electricity of the furnace, but it was for the grounding that the first service technician disconnected.

    Also, for the last claim on the regulator of the water temperature on the shower. I sent pictures and AHS sent somebody that couldn’t fix that. They said, “We’ll send another plumber tomorrow that can fix it.” Nobody called me from that plumbing company. We have to call and the person there said, “It’s not available.” We were waiting for somebody to call us, to send the other plumber that the plumber told us about yesterday, and nobody called us. My husband stayed home waiting for them for almost two days. He lost two days of missed work. They said, “He’s not available today. He’s available Monday.” And that was a Friday. So, my husband spent Thursday waiting for the first plumber. Then we spent Friday for the second one that didn’t come or didn’t call. And they were acting like they were angry and they called off the service. I had to call AHS again to assign me another one and the second one was okay.

    I called American Home Shield on a Wednesday or Thursday, and I was able to schedule something for a Monday. I was having some foul smell coming from underneath my sink and there was a lot of questions as to whether it was something in the pipes or something in the garbage disposal, and they recommended a newer garbage disposal. I asked if they could install a new sink because the sink faucet was dripping nonstop. So that was what they did. Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem. But they were really young and they were wonderful. Not only were they super friendly and super professional, they were really knowledgeable and very quick. I absolutely adored them. They kept thanking me for being a great customer.

    The day they came out, I wasn’t having the smell underneath the sink, but they were able to pretty much diagnose it. I don’t have a trap in the dishwasher so the smell wasn’t there.     About 4 days after I submitted online the claim for my heat pump, Platinum Heating & Air came out to do the repair. I would’ve preferred it sooner, but it was a cold snap. The guy who came out was very good. He had to come out a second time as there were some additional issues, but both times were very professional.     The downstairs of my house was completely cold, and it was like 50 degrees. Obviously, there was something wrong with the heating system. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was very easy and they were prompt serving me. Their contractor came and checked it, and they found a pump that was not working.     I like American Home Shield. When I did the work order for the heater, I asked for expedited service, so whoever was available came out the next day. They were awesome. I really liked them because they were no BS type of people. They didn't try to upsell me on anything. They said, “Hey, this is broken. We’re going to fix that, and that’s what needs to be done." They fixed our heat and also cleaned out a couple of things that needed to be cleaned out in the motor.

    Usually if the problem is something simple, I do my claim online. For the heating, I didn't know which category to pick, so I had to talk to them and their rep helped me out for that purpose. American Home Shield has done tremendous jobs with anything I’ve had issues with. Except the cooling downstairs which was a bit of disappointment for me, everything else has been beautiful. Everything is covered. However, I did see a price increase without them notifying me. I was paying about $48 a month and they changed it to $53, which I noticed on my bank account.

    Our oven wasn’t working. I tried to submit a claim to American Home Shield online but I couldn’t get past the log in. It wasn’t recognizing my username or password. So, I just called. They said the contractors would be out within the next couple of days. The tech from Prodigy Appliance Repair that came out was personable, funny and nice. He got it done fast. The oven was making a loud noise. And then the fan motor went out and it stopped making the noise. It sounded like a fan. And it stopped making the noise and then the oven would overheat. The fan motor wasn’t there to cool down the oven. It would just get really hot and then the oven lock would come on. The tech knew exactly what to do. He ordered the part and he told me how long it would take to get there. The day before it got there, he called me and said that he’d be there the next day. He put in a new fan motor and the oven has been perfect since then. It was a really fast experience.

    I had AHS before for a while, and then I just dropped it, and then I picked it back up recently in October. Our recent claim was for the stove that wasn’t working. The contractors came out and did an excellent job and did it rather quickly. The guy knew what he's doing before he came in, ‘cause he came in with the part, once they called me and I spoke to them.

    The reason why I dropped AHS the first time was they have this one contractor who wasn’t any good at all. As soon as he walked to the door, he said, “We don’t handle this.” I said, “You haven’t even looked at anything.” It was something about a breaker on my electrical box. And this guy was like, “We don’t do that unless you wanna pay directly.” I said, “Dude, you didn't even check the gauge.” He said, “The wire gauge is bad.” I said, “You don’t have a tool to check the wire gauge. You didn’t even pull a breaker up.” I know a little bit about electricity ‘cause my dad was an electrician. So, he was like, “Where my $100?” And I started not to give it to him, but I did, but I shouldn’t have.

    So then, when I had the other electrical problem, once I got them back, they sent me to the same guy. And now, they were taking the payment immediately and not depending on giving it to the provider. So, I told them, “No, I'm not taking this guy again. He's the same fool who came by here before.” And plus, I called them, and their phone was disconnected. Then after that, AHS sent another guy. The only thing I have with them is who’s the provider and they should give me the chance to look up the provider and see their reviews before they take my money, because then once the money is taken, then it's up to the customer to fight back. And the customer already knows that this particular provider is not a good person.

    I called AHS when my icemaker no longer worked. I went through the automated prompts and then someone called me. Within a day or so, I was told when to expect the contractor and within that same day, the contractor called me to set up the appointment. Appliance Network came and figured out whatever the problems were. Their servicemen were very prompt and polite in explaining what was going on. They had to order parts. The tech left and got the parts ordered. Then two days later, someone else came out and replaced everything. I’m a widow and on a limited income. My biggest fear is a furnace, a water heater, or an air conditioner going out or needing some major repairs. I’ve told people to check into AHS. It’s well worth it. In fact, I’ve tried to talk some people into it even before I had a claim.

    Sometimes I like their service, sometimes I don't. It depends if they hire someone that is willing to work or someone who just wants to come out, get his money and leave. When the gentleman came out for the dryer, he said it was just stuff outside and then made my son clean out the vent. But the last person that I had from Chicago Skyline Plumbing was very good. He was thorough and he didn't leave until the job was done. Someone called me back in a few hours to tell me when to expect the contractors out, which then happened on the same day. Express Comfort Heating & Air came and they were pretty good. They just changed something. They fixed the problem. However, the monthly payment has increased a lot for the past two months since I requested for that repair.     Quality Plumbing was awesome and very fast. The contractor fixed it right away. He was very organized and informative. He explained to me other things about what was going on with my dishwasher. He said that if I moved the tubing a little bit this way, my dishwasher would work much better. I asked him some other questions too because I’m curious about putting in a water heater and he told me about that. It was a really pleasant experience. AHS had an electrician come too and he was awesome. I was so impressed with the first two claims because they got really good people to come out. And they seemed to know their business.

    But right now, I’m having a hard time with AHS because when my washer broke, the contractor came out on February 8th and it was not fixed. When the guy looked at it, he said that it was a really good washer, but the part was $400.” I told AHS that and they said that they could get the part for $226 and that that was what they were gonna do. They said it would take seven days for the parts. But the washer is 11 years old. I asked why would they fix an 11-year-old washer. They said it would be 24 to 48 hours before they decided, but they took five days. I called them and they said that they needed a bit more time. They gave me my $75 back, but I still don’t have a washer.

    Also, the rep was not very nice at all. She said that she was a single mom too and that was the way it was. When I said that I had to go to the laundromat I was told that would give me $226 instead. I said that I couldn’t even buy the cheapest washer for $226. It’ has been seven days and I have no update. And when I asked if there was any way they could expedite it, nothing.

    There was no electricity coming through some wall plugs in the living room as well as outside. So I sent a service request to AHS and it was fine the first time. And then it got a little bit tricky because I had to take a panel down in my living room for the electrician to get to the plug and the problem was I've waited for about a week and a half before he got back with me to come out and finally fix the issue. It got to be confusing because I was calling American Home Shield and they were saying the electrician was supposed to contact me to come back out. And so I kept calling him and leaving messages.

    I don't know the procedure as far as how it's supposed to work. Am I supposed to contact the person once I contact American Home Shield or is the person supposed to contact me? AHS should follow up maybe in the next day or so as to whether or not if the person is supposed to contact the consumer, then maybe they should follow up and see have I been contacted. That way I don't have to leave multiple messages for the person that's supposed to be calling to repair the problem. But AHS worked with me. They were pleasant when I called back to confirm with them that I hadn't been contacted by the electrician. The customer service was great. Even though I had that little wiggle in between the time the electrician came back out to fix the problem and it was still done in a timely manner.

They're by far the best contractor we’ve had. If I have an appliance issue, I will request them. The contractor was thorough and sent text messages to tell me when he was leaving. If I have an issue after he’s gone, I can text him, and he’s very responsive. It was my dryer that was not working. The heating element was out.     A young man from Apache Home Services replaced the switch on the door with my washing machine. He was nice and I had no complaints with him. He was on-time and showed up when they said he would. But about two weeks later, the switch stopped working again. He probably didn’t have the right part and he was trying to get us going. But he didn’t tell me anything about that. He just fixed it and told me everything was great. So, a guy from Sears came out ‘cause Apache couldn’t get to it and he said that the guy put the wrong switch on. He actually tried to sort of jerry-rig it a little bit to make it work but that didn’t work. He said he had the right one and that’s what he put on it.

There have been some times where I needed the company to come back and they're open to letting that company I dealt with come back instead of having a new company, and I really like that.     Being with American Home Shield for 6 years so far, I get prompt service from them relaying to the contractors. And the contractors call me very promptly and set up appointments most of the time. Also, we get good coverage for the price. What I like about them is I feel secure in knowing that if I have any major problems, they’re gonna be there for me.

    The only issue I’ve ever run into was a contractor that I don't know for the life of me why they are allowed to work for them. It has nothing to do with the service I get from AHS. It was an extremely bad experience recently. There was an item we have that evidently is an item that’s a new coverage so there was a lot of confusion. I would call American Home Shield, and they would say, “Yes, absolutely. You’re covered.” But then this contractor would call me and say, “No, we talked to American Home Shield and you’re not covered.” It went back and forth like that. But every time I called I’m not covered.

    Upon the third time that person came, my husband called American Home Shield. He said, “That person is not allowed in our house again. You’re gonna have to find somebody to come out and fix the issue,” which of course put us behind on getting the issue fixed. However, once we made the call, it was taken care of. They all worked it out on their end and we had a different contractor out immediately. And once this other contractor came out, they were like, “Yeah, no problem." It was so bizarre. We had to wait another week for them to come out, but they got the problem fixed. We didn’t pay that person anything for the service fee as well.

They came and take a look at it and they said they couldn't detect anything. I’m not 100% satisfied with their quality of work. But I just didn’t wanna deal with it anymore. I didn’t call after they recalled for the first time. Every time, I have to arrange it and stay home, away from work. I’ve been AHS' customer for almost two years and they relatively do a good job taking care of clients, except this case, which was not their fault. It was the plumber's.

    The dishwasher wouldn’t move to the next cycle, so the first time they came in to repair, they replaced the computer board of the door. When we tested it, it seemed to be working, but then they never run a full cycle while they were there. So when I tried to run the cycle, it wouldn’t move. It would move three cycles and not finish. So I called AHS again and they sent another person, and then said that there was an issue with the door. The door is not locking up. So they said AHS needs to order a new door for me, but I never heard from them. This has been more than two weeks. The last time they ordered the part, it took three or four weeks until they came back. They said the part would take long, so I just assumed this was the norm because eventually they came back. So I’ve been washing my dishes manually.

    AHS's online features are great and speed up the claim process. As long as I can use it, submitting claims goes well. But if I have to call or talk to them, it takes an eternity, which is very frustrating. Sometimes customer service is great, sometimes it's horrendous. It seems to be dependent upon who answers the phone. I will literally just hang up, call back and wait on the line for another 20 minutes to get someone else, and then the service is better. Also, they sometimes don't have the correct information. I could call back and get the correct information from the same department. They don't seem to be educated with their job or they're very frustrated. AHS should have more nice people to answer the phone. For my appliance issue, although it took longer than I had hoped, Appliance 911 replaced the heater and it seems to be functioning properly now.

    We bought this home and you'll never know when it's gonna be like on a brand new home. A person had the warranty for a year and then asked if we wanted to continue, and I said, "Yes."     There were some sink stoppages and there was slow drainage in the bath tub. Plumb Genius came out and the claim went well. The guy also gave me some advice on some things. Submitting the claim has been easy. There is, however, one unresolved claim that we submitted back in August or September, and we haven't been able to come to an agreement on some duct work. We have had some other opinions on it and we feel that it should be covered under the warranty. But, they were saying that something was not covered because of the size of the furnace. Also, when a payment does not go through for a request, American Home Shield should try to contact me. This is because I requested for an electrician to come out too, and for some reason, the electrician hasn’t come yet. Maybe the payment did not go through, and it needs to be processed again.

    The whole dishwasher started coming forward progressively more and more. So I called them to ask them to come and repair it to see if there was some damage to it. When I got their letter, it says that it is not a valuable claim because of misuse. But I couldn't believe what the contractor said and what was done. When I had trouble with my heater and my air conditioning, they came out and fixed them. I had no problem with American Home Shield because it was a pleasure to work with them. I've had good service with them. So this little dishwasher thing has me in shock.

    They talk nicely to me, which they should do professionally. They told me they would check into it but nothing has been done. I've been without a water heater now for what, since Wednesday or Thursday of this past week. The first step was they had the plumber come out which was very good. He found that it was leaking from the top and the bottom, consequently taking out the pilot light all the time. A tremendous amount of growth of mold is in there now, all on the wall, and it's still growing. All I want is my things fixed, like what I've been paying for. The dishwasher thing threw me for a loop because there was no misuse of this machine. I'm dissatisfied with the follow-up work of Home Shield.

    I called this morning at 8:30 and the girl was very nice. There wasn't a language barrier because she did understand English, and she spoke it clear enough for me to understand. She did what she was told. She kept on saying that they have to go for a recertification. What does that mean? Is it gonna be approved or not? They should do something.

    I called American Home Shield for someone to come and fix some appliances like the stove ventilation system, the dishwasher, and the refrigerator. A guy from Appliance Magic took a look at the refrigerator and changed out the part for the refrigerator for the water. That was fine but there was a light flickering inside the fridge. They said they don’t deal with light bulb issues, so I had to take care of that on my own. On the dishwasher, it wasn’t directly dealing with the dishwasher and it was more the plumbing of the dishwasher of how the water was being fed in. That was dripping a little bit, and because it wasn’t appliance-related and more plumbing-related, he didn’t take care of that. He seemed like a very nice guy and was straightforward. If the case doesn’t apply or if he doesn’t work on it, he doesn’t work on it.

    It kinda irritates me that I would have to pay for separate $100 fees to deal with appliance versus the plumbing versus electrical. It should be $100 and they would take care of everything for me. I don’t understand why I have to pay a deductible for separate categories for them to take care of the stuff. I dealt with it myself. I went out and bought it. It was a simple fix. It was just changing a hose. The part was like six bucks, and it’d probably take me 30 minutes or so. It required me to do it because they didn’t do it, and I was wondering, “What did I pay for?” I was hoping that someone would manage it and take care of all the appliance and any issues I have where I don’t have to do it. AHS should take care of these little things like a lightbulb change and changing of a hose. It doesn’t take that much time. I wasn’t happy overall. I canceled my service with them.

    United Appliance Services was fast and efficient. This microwave broke three times, and they were the best one. They knew and ordered the correct part, and told us when that part was coming in. They guy even called us on a Saturday to say, "The part was in. Can we come?" It was unbelievable. I would like to only ever have them come and fix the appliances. We have had American Home Shield the whole time we've lived here. My husband was in the travel business, and it was easier to keep up in case there was an issue that came up when he was gone. So, when he was traveling, I've had air conditioner problems, a washer problem, and a heat problem. So, I called them and they were taken care of.

    One time, the company that they sent out was scamming us and we blackballed them from AHS. It had to do with the furnace and the guy told us it was going to cost us $200 out of pocket because he couldn't get to the thing. Then, my husband went on YouTube and figured it out. So, American Home Shield said, "We can't send another provider out." And my husband replied, "Why? The guy is scamming you. He is scamming me."

    Finally, a supervisor heard the story and she sent somebody else and did not charge us the service fee because they realized the company they had sent was a scam. She also said they that were not going to use that company anymore. That was the only time that had ever happened in the 10 years that we had it, but there are underhanded people no matter where you are in the world. The second company agreed with what we said. Overall, we are happy with American Home Shield. My sister-in-law also now has American Home Shield in Atlanta.

    The contractor who came for our plumbing issue was professional, nice, courteous, and timely. He came out and did the job in about 30 minutes. He went down in the outside valve between the house and the street and went out to the street. He said he hit something and that it jarred the snake he had running down in there.     I've been with AHS for almost two years now. It’s an outstanding service for my house in Twentynine Palms, ‘cause it limits resources out and it’s hard to find somebody to respond ‘cause it’s such a remote area and it’s a rental property. I had a recent claim with AHS regarding the heating. There was some confusion. AHS kept recording the wrong number, so when the first contractor called, they were calling the wrong number.

    When I called the contractors, they said, “We tried to call you guys. Nobody answered.” I asked, “What number do you have? I don’t know where you got that number ‘cause it’s not either of our numbers.” They said, “We can’t come out. We’ve already been in that area. We can’t come out till next Tuesday,” I said, “No. It’s not gonna work.” So, then they assigned me to somebody else. But, the contractor had the same number, the same exact thing. I asked the lady at American Home Shield to repeat the number to me to make sure they were putting it right. Somehow, she gave her the wrong number again. They defaulted on that other number.

    Now, the contractor named Alvarez has an attitude. They were like, “We called twice.” I said that was the wrong number. She was like, “Somebody was there. We’re not coming out till this date.” I asked, “Can I schedule the appointment?” It was the next day. She said, “We can come out tomorrow.” But this was after a whole week. Then she said she needed to speak to the tenant. I said I could schedule that appointment. But she said no. I said, “Can you call him back?” She said, “No. I’m not calling back. We’ve already called twice.” I said, “Okay. So, then let me schedule it myself.”

    It was just a matter of her getting smart. Their customer service sucks, but as long as they do this job, I really don’t care. I also called them to pay the 800 that they charged for just to strap it down and some other crazy costs to me. And she was getting smart again, but once again, I’m not gonna make that my issue. But I love American Home Shield.

    I had an issue with the washing machine and AHS sent out idiots from A Plus who left me with a noisy machine. They came out twice and the second time they did, the washing machine was making more noise than when they came the first time. The tech said that it was not gonna cause any harm to anybody but no one wants that.

    Then six months later, it was running for two hours for one cycle, so I had to pay AHS to have the techs come back out again. This time, they sent out J&A Appliance and their guy took good care of it. They’ve got parts that needed to be replaced and now it runs like it’s brand-new. They were awesome people and they stayed here until they got it fixed. Initially, it took them a couple of days to come out and the first guy that came out was a worker of the owner. But the owner came out and fixed it the second time. He replaced a bunch of stuff and didn’t take long to come out. All in all, I’m happy with AHS. They’ve been good in taking care of what I needed to be taken care of and they said they were gonna file a complaint against the other company for what they did when they came out the first time for the washing machine.

    The kitchen sink overflowed onto the floor everywhere and in the furnace area. It was pretty nasty. Mando's Plumbing came out a couple of days after I submitted the claim and it all worked out well. We've had AHS since we bought the house. It was included by the seller. We've had a couple of plumbing claims and the contractors have done really well. But to submit $100 every claim is kind of much. I'm glad that they refunded my money on a couple of things that weren't needed. Also, they don't cover water softeners. That's a given in a house anymore. And then I had somebody call me and tell me I can buy the second year for $500 but they never called me back like they said they would.

    AHS's representative are always good and the people that they hire as independent contractors are really spot on. I've been with AHS for three years and I have three homes with it. I have properties in different counties and the experiences are all the same as far as being able to get to me in 24 hours. I have the heating company at one property and I also have another company checking out my washer and stove at my other property. And this afternoon, they are coming here to do my oven.

    However, they could improve their turnaround and have a quicker response. They're way too slow on the replacement. Getting my refrigerator for one of my properties took a lot longer than necessary and we had to purchase a small refrigerator. It took about a month before we got the refrigerator in, which was upsetting. I had a fire in the oven and some of the elements won't be able to be repaired. It's probably gonna be a total replacement. I'm hoping that I don't have to wait as long as my other property. I kept AHS because I've got a better service for my other stuff, but if I have to wait a long period to get my oven, then that'll be the last one that I'd do with them and I would be looking to take my business elsewhere.

    My heater just stopped working. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and they sent a contractor right away, so I’m happy with that. And then I had a follow-up. The motor of the new machine that they installed was having some tough time kicking in. Somebody came back to make sure it’s working correctly. They did all the testing and they told me, “Based on the specs, it’s running fine.” I’m happy with American Home Shield. I just noticed that some of the options in their website are not that clear. For example, garage is generic. I wish there will be more options that are more direct. Sometimes, you don’t feel you are submitting the right option or not. But other than that, it’s easy to submit a claim.

    The only issue that I have with the contractors is with Drain Go Plumbing. I've dealt with them previously with another home warranty company before American Home Shield and those employees are not paid hourly. They’re paid a commission, based on what the homeowner ends up having to pay out of pocket. I had hot water claims at two different properties and they would come out and say what the issue with the hot water heater was. Then they would say that it wasn't covered by my home warranty and what it would cost to fix it. And so, we would pay whatever they told me to pay. But that doesn’t resolve the issue and they would come back out. They would tell me what the issue was but that it wasn't covered by my home warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket.

    The third time around, the tech would tell me what the issue was and that it was covered by my warranty. They told me two times, previously, that it was these other things and I had to pay them out-of-pocket for it. On both houses, the hot water heaters are in the attic and on both times, they told me that they would have to take the ladder down to access the attic in order to get the new hot water heater up there. But I would have to hire a carpenter to come back to reinstall the ladder. And they don’t have a fixed-fee schedule. Every plumber that works for Drain Go Plumbing is considered a master plumber so they set their own fee schedules.

    I told American Home Shield that I don’t wanna deal with them anymore. But I had a plumbing issue and it was automatically assigned to them. I contacted American Home Shield and they said that's what they have in the area. I asked if I could have permission to go outside of the network for reimbursement and they said no. I said I have six or seven warranties with them and told them to cancel those if that is what I’m gonna have to deal with. Then they said they got this other guy they could use.

    Also, I have an issue right now with American Home Shield where they’re reimbursing me a $1,000 and I haven’t gotten that yet. It’s been months. I called them probably three weeks ago and they said it would take 14 to 28 days for me to get the check in the mail. But they just told me the check has already been mailed. I still haven’t received the check. I haven’t had the time to call because I would call and I would get somebody on the phone that has no idea what I'm talking about. And most of the time, they give me some excuses to get me off the phone. What I have found out is that the way for me to have any resolutions with American Home Shield is having to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in order to get ahold of somebody that’s willing to find out what has happened and to fix the issue.

    I had a heating issue and AHS sent Hospitality Heating and Air. I thought my heating system was electric and then I found out it was gas so I called AHS back and the company that was coming out said, “No problem. We do both.” The guy came out, put something in and it didn’t work. I called him back, and he came back and adjusted it. It’s working now. Everything was done professionally. I didn’t have to call them back to complain about anything. But the following morning a lady called and said, “American Home Shield said you called them again,” which I hadn’t. So I don't know about the mix-up because I told her everything was good. Everything is still good.

    It was too hot in my third floor and when I was trying to lower the heat, the heat was still up. I turned it off and it was still running. I called my insurance and I spoke to a lady who told me that somebody was going to come. The first time, the company was supposed to come around 8 or 9 o'clock, but the guy never came at that hour. He called me 10 minutes before 12 because I told him, “I’m going to work at 12 o’clock. I got to say it’s got to be early in the morning.” And then, he never show up. And the second time, it was Liberty who was sent out. The guy came early at around 9 o’clock, started working, and finished on time. I then signed the paper.     We called American Home Shield and they went through two different contractors, and they couldn’t get anybody out there. So, I had water leaking on the floor for a couple of days but we got it taken care of. I tried to call an independent contractor, asked AHS's approval and they wouldn’t approve the amount of money that they wanted to pay for it. They sent another contractor out and that was okay. But in the interim, I got somebody to tighten up a nut on the water valve and it stopped dripping. This water problem was very unique, very unusual. In this respect, when it came to the plumbing issue, AHS did the best that they could but it wasn’t good enough. The service provided by the contractors was very good though.

    We’ve been protected with American Home Shield for six years now or longer. I heard an ad on the local radio station. I called them, they gave us a price, and we were satisfied with it. In the few things that we have had happen, they’ve been very good. In fact, we mentioned it to our two sons and they have contracts with them as well. In general, American Home Shield was very good. They replaced a hot water furnace and I had to come up with a portion of that. I knew that because of their limit, which I understood. The furnace was 40 years old. I also had an issue with a refrigerator and they replaced that. I had a issue with a washing machine and they replaced that too at no cost to me because I took their approved items. I’m satisfied with AHS and I like working with them.

    The guy from Atlas Residential Services knows nothing. He looked at the refrigerator and said that the compressor was broken. But then he also said, "I don't do that kind of work." We had to have someone else come out. And the next one was Old Country and they were wonderful. Atlas wasted our time. We lost food and we had to cram it into other refrigerators and we lived out of an ice chest. We could have had the other guy out and had it fixed within two days. That was the second time they came out for the same problem. We asked AHS to have Atlas marked off of our appliance repair list. I told them why and they were fine.     We’ve been really pleased with working with AHS and submitting claims with them has been really good for us. Most of the time, I've done it online and that seems to work okay. I could just go in, submit my claims in a few minutes, and put some details in there. Recently, I had a heating issue where they sent out Air 72, Inc. For whatever reason, the unit was no longer heating the space and there was some type of part that had to be replaced. It was a piece inside the house that had to be replaced and it wasn’t outside like the fan or anything like that.

    AHS also helped us when our oven died in our kitchen and they replaced that. We had another part that broke in our dryer and they sent someone out to replace that part. Then another HVAC unit messed up on us. It was a cooling case and they had someone come out and fix that for us, too. AHS helped us as well when we had a washing machine upstairs that had an issue. Whenever we have a claim, it's really quick to get somebody out and for the past couple of ones, we’ve had someone out the next day.

    I called American Home Shield to file my claim for my dryer that was not operating properly. I had three people come out on that dryer. Each time, I called AHS back, and they arranged for a contractor to come out. Each one of them were different. The first one that came out just looked at it, didn't pull it out, and stuck a thermometer in it and told me it was operating properly. I called AHS back, explained to them what had happened, and then, they transferred it to the second person. The second person came out and told me that I had to have my doors taken down because it was an inset. They stuck another thermometer in and told me that they were gonna order a part, but they wouldn’t be able to come back and put it in until I had the doors taken down.

    I called the company back and I explained that to them. And I said, “Look, not a problem. I will have the doors taken down.” I had the doors taken down, and I had my vents cleaned. And the guy that cleaned my vents tested some of the stuff on the dryer and told me that I didn’t need whatever it was that the guy said I needed. So, at that point, I was frustrated. I called the company back and they sent a third guy out here who replaced the part. I had an issue with the contractors. He had no problem accessing what it was. And he assured me if it was not the part that he replaced, he will continue until he found out exactly what was wrong with it. So, I felt a lot more confident with him than the other two. Each time I called back and I explained to them what happened, AHS did not give me a problem. They said, “We’ll send somebody else out.”

    Aladdin's Plumbing installed the waste disposal and everything was fine. The garbage disposal was leaking water. I called to file a claim and within a couple of days, somebody showed up. But he didn't replace it right away. He had to order it. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful so everything worked out okay. We are very satisfied with American Home Shield except for one issue that happened last year. We had an incident with one of their people that do work for the clients. He was the one that replaced the water heater. He was very nasty. He didn't wanna come back and fix the issue. It was a bad experience. But everybody else was always very professional, they leave a copy of what was done, and explained what’s going on, except for that person.

    I've been pretty happy with AHS. I've been with them for 10 or more years and they've done several things for me. My last problem was with the blower in my heating system and I went online to submit the claim. Usually, their contractor, Austin Heating would respond within 24 hours. This time, two or three days went by. It was late in the week that I made the claim and the wait went over the weekend. I was expecting a call but I had to make the appointment. That is a change from previous where I did the online thing, and Austin called me to set up an appointment. I assumed the situation was the same. But it was all resolved.

    Long time policyholder, (10+ years), 2 different addresses and had been fairly pleased with the service and coverage. However, in 2019 life happened and apparently if you use this policy too much (who know what their definition of that is), because I asked and no one could answer the question. Anyway without notice or anything they cancelled the policy and required double the monthly premium to reinstate the policy. Called to cancel and they said they would reduce pricing to keep me as a valued customer. Ok, go for it. 20 minutes of hold and, "No thank you. We can't lower your price. Oh and by the way you have to pay a monthly premium penalty to cancel."

    So beware, use it I guess, just don't use it too much. For the trolls, it's a less than 10 year old property with normal maintenance issues. AHS just doesn't like to honor the appliance portions of these contracts and will continue to fix with bandaids at their expense. Very disappointed with the resolution of this whole thing. Moving to Amazon Home Warranty at half the price!!

    I submitted a claim about my 40 year old furnace when it comes on a loud bang shakes my floor. Sent tech out and he found carbon dioxide readings with carbon detector. (Heating exchange leak!). The HVAC company calls me a week later and told me it's not covered but the charge would be $3000 and to replace furnace and coil. That $1500 used to purchase this plan could have been used to replace this outdated furnace! Will never recommend this company! They also didn't know they was dealing with an certified HVAC technician.

    I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and something that I thought was covered turned out not to be. Sometimes, they couldn’t get someone to do some of the things that they were supposed to cover and do for me and trying to get the paperwork to get somebody else to do it and then file paperwork with them to get reimbursement, then I'd probably end up just hiring somebody to do the work and not being bothered. Also, the fees started to grow. It was $35. Now, it’s $100.

    One time I left them and went to another company. The other company wasn’t as good as American Home Shield so I figured I would go back and give them another try. Some things changed and I realized I didn’t have the right coverage of what I thought I had. Once I got that all fixed, we are very satisfied with the service that we get. I submitted claims over the phone and the customer service reps were great. The contractors that came out were very professional and it was a good interaction also.

    I always recommend American Home Shield because it's a good program that a lot of people don’t use or utilize or know about, and it can really come in handy when people have some expensive repairs or unexpected repairs.     My husband and I have been with American Home Shield for years, and I like how their plans are set up -- you pay a certain amount and the contractor comes out. The online claim submission is easy and I like it. The contractors have been good, but the only thing that I was upset about was when Realty came out to rekey the house and they told us that we owed more. I have never had one do that to me before. The guy said, "American Home Shield was supposed to tell you that we charge for mileage to come this far because I'm out of Atlanta." Still, I'm satisfied with AHS.

    In the one year that I've been with American Home Shield, I like the fast response and knowing that I have the availability to use them. When it goes well, it goes really well. When it doesn't, it doesn't. They could improve their communication though. I had a situation regarding my cooktop and they kept telling me different people would come put it in. The contractors would come and they couldn't put it in. So then, it was the wrong one. I went around with it for probably a month. One other time was very frustrating. It was a miscommunication. When I talked to them on the phone, it was like everything was covered.

    When my garage door went out, they said the motor went out because it was caused from the springs. But it was caused from something else. The garage door opener was 30 years old and I was sure it was not just the springs. They wouldn't pay for it and that was not great. But overall, American Home Shield has done a very good job. It was just me probably clueing in to reading more what the contract said and understanding it. And I would not have known those things to even ask them. Plus, I’ve got a 30-plus year old home and I have to have some wiring done and some new ductwork done.

    They worked very well with me with ovens. I've had them come out on my washing machine and that was just a quick little fix. So, I had them out five times. They can probably reiterate when they're talking to you that they need to keep in mind that not everything is covered. So, it's not like you pay $100 and everything's covered for someone to come out. It's not given.

    I would share my experiences and what I've been through. I actually referred my 91-year old mom to American Home Shield and she has used it. She has had a couple situations. One was a dishwasher latch. They came out and fixed it. A couple of months later, it wasn't at all, and she had to pay the $100 again for them to come out. So that part was crappy. But other than that, she's been pleased with American Home Shield also.

    The sump pump pipes came aloose outside. I called American Home Shield after 7:00 in the morning, and the lady told me that the earliest somebody could get out was 12:00 to 4:00. The man from Stilwell Plumbing came after 1 o'clock -- I thought it was little bit long since it was supposed to have been an emergency because water was coming in the basement all of that time. But, other than that, everything was okay. He put an extra piece on there and fixed it.

    I call in my claims and I have never had a problem with the customer service. Everybody they’ve sent out to me has been wonderful. Not only doing their job well but they were very personable as well. It takes about two or three days for issues to get taken care of, unless they got a part that has to take longer to order. When the lock on my washing machine was locked and it wouldn't unlock, the contractor they assigned was courteous. The guy was friendly and did his job quickly.

    One of my friends had referred AHS to me. The online submission process for the claims is good. My latest claim was for plumbing and Cannon Plumbing was the contractor. It went fine but the only thing I didn’t know about was they said they needed $45, while they were here, for the permit. And they said that someone from the state would come by to inspect it to make sure they put it in right which is what the $45 was for. I don’t understand that because with them being a licensed plumber, they should already have a permit to install stuff like that.

    American Home Shield called me and said that the $45 wasn’t covered under the contract and that I would need to pay them. But I see that was a lie because nobody has called me from the state, nor has anyone came by here. I’m curious to know what happened with that because nothing was done. I paid an additional $45 for what? Other than that, the service overall with American Home Shield is good and I just renewed my contract as well.

    I had an electric issue and my experience with Flash Garage Door Service was quick and convenient. They took care of what I needed to be taken care of. The contractor was smart, professional, knowledgeable, and very efficient. For someone like me to have tackled it, it would have taken a couple of hours. So, I was glad to see that he was able to manage it much quicker. There's a coupler that connects between the drive mechanism for the door to come up and the actual motor. If that breaks, it's really hard to get to. And if you don't know how to calibrate the door, then that's something that a professional would be able to manage much quicker than I would. He did a good job with explaining. If AHS could cost less, that would be great. But I most likely will be renewing with them.

    It took a couple of visits to iron out the actual detail of my claim. But once that was done, he was very thorough and followed up every time he needed to follow up. The issue was that the valve that was feeding the icemaker was not fully closing. And eventually, ice built up in the nozzle, so the water would no longer flow in the ice maker. It went fine. He was a very friendly and courteous repairman.

    American Home Shield should train their staff to be a bit more professional as far as letting the consumers know that they don’t cover a specific item because that was the issue I had with the last situation with my garage door. When I called them initially, they indicated that it was covered. But when the garage door technician came out, he said that they only cover the actual motor and not the spring. But that was on me though. I should’ve read the note. But the technician that came out was professional. He took care of the job. So far, I like American Home Shield's responsiveness and the subcontractor they send out are professional. I have referred them to friends. It’s a must for a homeowner because if not, you’re gonna be stuck with a lot of unnecessary exorbitant repair bills.

    Whenever I've had a problem, I try to ask for the Jones Family because they’re really good. They are really reliable. I had a little hose that was leaking. It was a slow leak and the tech fixed it but it was too late. It rotted my hardwood underneath the refrigerator. Now they have to replace the whole floor. I've used Jones Family two or three times within a year and they did really good. They were wonderful to use. Other than them, I normally use a local company.

    I like how Jones Family announce themselves and text you and you know that they’re coming. Also, their car is marked. These things give me confidence because sometimes American Home Shield uses cars with no marks, no uniform, no ID, and that makes me uncomfortable. There had been contractors in the past that I have not had a good experience with. Even last summer, it took six weeks to get my AC repaired. It was horrible. But overall, the majority had been good experiences. American Home Shield always come through. I’ve had them now for 15 years.

    I called AHS and they gave me the contractor's phone number. It was a prompt system. Everything was handled very professionally. The contractor was professional as well. They assessed the situation and figured out what part they needed. I had to wait for them to order the part and for the part to be received, which took a couple of days.     The contractor declogged the dishwasher. Prior to that, the boiler and the oven didn’t light up. He fixed that too, so it does properly work now. The customer service when I call to file a claim and tha contractors have been fine. But I was disappointed when three times in a row, the repairman came and said the part was not covered. The insurance was not even useful. I just paid for everything.

    We’re in Texas and it’s 100% humidity and when our air conditioner goes out in the middle of the summer, having to wait two or three days for AHS's service people to show up is a drawback. Whereas if we called somebody locally, they'd be out there the same day. However, AHS always repaired everything that needed to be repaired. And it's certainly affordable for us right now.

    We’ve had mostly good luck with the contractors. We have had some that tried to talk us into doing stuff beyond the scope of what needed to be done, but once we figured those out, we just avoided them and we took the alternatives. But we've been with AHS for around 15 years and that has only happened in a couple of cases. Also, I'm very pleased with Five Star Plumbing. They did great.

    ABNation came out the next day after I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they replaced an O-ring in my swimming pool pump. Submitting a claim over the phone is better because they get more detail, but I generally do them online because it's easier. I just hope they can read between the lines. American Home Shield is perfect. I've had others and they have all never stood up to what American Home Shield does.

    AHS sent out EJ's Appliance Repair to service our washing machine and there was a different man that came out the first time. He had to order a part then a different one came out the second time. He fixed the lid on the washing machine that had been broke for a while and while he was in there, he said that he also fixed the spring. He said it was just loose. They did great and I've had no problems with it. They weren't there a really long time but they explained everything that was wrong and everything they did. They're probably the best repairmen for the washer and dryer we've had out. Other than that, the payment with AHS is a fixed amount that I know I'm gonna pay and that's kinda great. It's also that much for a repairman in town to come out plus what the repair actually cost. So I don't feel like I'm wasting my money.
