    We had the electricity outage in our bathroom, one of our bedrooms and our hallway. We called Home Shield and went through the automated prompt system. The process was very easy. We were told to expect the contractors out within 24 hours. Lighthouse Electric came within 24 hours. Their service was awesome. The tech was very thorough. He looked through everything and it took him a little while to figure out what was going on, but he figured it out and got it fixed. Things have been performing great. We would recommend Home Shield.

    There was no electricity coming through some wall plugs in the living room as well as outside. So I sent a service request to AHS and it was fine the first time. And then it got a little bit tricky because I had to take a panel down in my living room for the electrician to get to the plug and the problem was I've waited for about a week and a half before he got back with me to come out and finally fix the issue. It got to be confusing because I was calling American Home Shield and they were saying the electrician was supposed to contact me to come back out. And so I kept calling him and leaving messages.

    I don't know the procedure as far as how it's supposed to work. Am I supposed to contact the person once I contact American Home Shield or is the person supposed to contact me? AHS should follow up maybe in the next day or so as to whether or not if the person is supposed to contact the consumer, then maybe they should follow up and see have I been contacted. That way I don't have to leave multiple messages for the person that's supposed to be calling to repair the problem. But AHS worked with me. They were pleasant when I called back to confirm with them that I hadn't been contacted by the electrician. The customer service was great. Even though I had that little wiggle in between the time the electrician came back out to fix the problem and it was still done in a timely manner.

    Everything that we’d had to do for our plumbing claim, all the repairs in the house, the workmen have all been great. My husband worked with the contractor more than I did because it was kind of under his umbrella, but he was very pleased. We’ve had about five claims and every workman have all been great. If we’re still in this house, we will definitely renew with AHS.

    I can call them and they’ll replace an appliance if I need it replaced or repaired. They’re good about getting people out here. But when I submit my claim online, it screws me up every time. Other than that, the companies that came out have been doing real good. The tech from Woodley Appliance was very prompt in letting me know when he would be here. There was a delay in parts once and he let me know about that. He was very professional and very friendly.

    I like American Home Shield. When I did the work order for the heater, I asked for expedited service, so whoever was available came out the next day. They were awesome. I really liked them because they were no BS type of people. They didn't try to upsell me on anything. They said, “Hey, this is broken. We’re going to fix that, and that’s what needs to be done." They fixed our heat and also cleaned out a couple of things that needed to be cleaned out in the motor.

    Usually if the problem is something simple, I do my claim online. For the heating, I didn't know which category to pick, so I had to talk to them and their rep helped me out for that purpose. American Home Shield has done tremendous jobs with anything I’ve had issues with. Except the cooling downstairs which was a bit of disappointment for me, everything else has been beautiful. Everything is covered. However, I did see a price increase without them notifying me. I was paying about $48 a month and they changed it to $53, which I noticed on my bank account.

    The downstairs of my house was completely cold, and it was like 50 degrees. Obviously, there was something wrong with the heating system. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was very easy and they were prompt serving me. Their contractor came and checked it, and they found a pump that was not working. They ordered the piece and they came immediately the next day with the piece. They replaced it and it's working now. It was a quick turnaround. And the contractors were friendly and they explained the situation. I would suggest that people get American Home Shield. I bought a house that's 15 years old so some of the stuff obviously will start going bad in the next few years, and it's like having the money saved already upfront.

    I had AHS before for a while, and then I just dropped it, and then I picked it back up recently in October. Our recent claim was for the stove that wasn’t working. The contractors came out and did an excellent job and did it rather quickly. The guy knew what he's doing before he came in, ‘cause he came in with the part, once they called me and I spoke to them.

    The reason why I dropped AHS the first time was they have this one contractor who wasn’t any good at all. As soon as he walked to the door, he said, “We don’t handle this.” I said, “You haven’t even looked at anything.” It was something about a breaker on my electrical box. And this guy was like, “We don’t do that unless you wanna pay directly.” I said, “Dude, you didn't even check the gauge.” He said, “The wire gauge is bad.” I said, “You don’t have a tool to check the wire gauge. You didn’t even pull a breaker up.” I know a little bit about electricity ‘cause my dad was an electrician. So, he was like, “Where my $100?” And I started not to give it to him, but I did, but I shouldn’t have.

    So then, when I had the other electrical problem, once I got them back, they sent me to the same guy. And now, they were taking the payment immediately and not depending on giving it to the provider. So, I told them, “No, I'm not taking this guy again. He's the same fool who came by here before.” And plus, I called them, and their phone was disconnected. Then after that, AHS sent another guy. The only thing I have with them is who’s the provider and they should give me the chance to look up the provider and see their reviews before they take my money, because then once the money is taken, then it's up to the customer to fight back. And the customer already knows that this particular provider is not a good person.

    Sometimes I like their service, sometimes I don't. It depends if they hire someone that is willing to work or someone who just wants to come out, get his money and leave. When the gentleman came out for the dryer, he said it was just stuff outside and then made my son clean out the vent. But the last person that I had from Chicago Skyline Plumbing was very good. He was thorough and he didn't leave until the job was done. I submit my claims over the phone and it takes time, but it's better to talk to them, otherwise, you have to wait forever for them to call you back.

    Our AC broke down completely. I called Home Shield and submitting a claim that way was pretty easy. Someone called me back in a few hours to tell me when to expect the contractors out, which then happened on the same day. Express Comfort Heating & Air came and they were pretty good. They just changed something. They fixed the problem. However, the monthly payment has increased a lot for the past two months since I requested for that repair. When my contract renewed, it didn’t renew at the same rate. It was renewed at a much higher rate. Other than that, I would recommend Home Shield.

    Quality Plumbing was awesome and very fast. The contractor fixed it right away. He was very organized and informative. He explained to me other things about what was going on with my dishwasher. He said that if I moved the tubing a little bit this way, my dishwasher would work much better. I asked him some other questions too because I’m curious about putting in a water heater and he told me about that. It was a really pleasant experience. AHS had an electrician come too and he was awesome. I was so impressed with the first two claims because they got really good people to come out. And they seemed to know their business.

    But right now, I’m having a hard time with AHS because when my washer broke, the contractor came out on February 8th and it was not fixed. When the guy looked at it, he said that it was a really good washer, but the part was $400.” I told AHS that and they said that they could get the part for $226 and that that was what they were gonna do. They said it would take seven days for the parts. But the washer is 11 years old. I asked why would they fix an 11-year-old washer. They said it would be 24 to 48 hours before they decided, but they took five days. I called them and they said that they needed a bit more time. They gave me my $75 back, but I still don’t have a washer.

    Also, the rep was not very nice at all. She said that she was a single mom too and that was the way it was. When I said that I had to go to the laundromat I was told that would give me $226 instead. I said that I couldn’t even buy the cheapest washer for $226. It’ has been seven days and I have no update. And when I asked if there was any way they could expedite it, nothing.

    A young man from Apache Home Services replaced the switch on the door with my washing machine. He was nice and I had no complaints with him. He was on-time and showed up when they said he would. But about two weeks later, the switch stopped working again. He probably didn’t have the right part and he was trying to get us going. But he didn’t tell me anything about that. He just fixed it and told me everything was great. So, a guy from Sears came out ‘cause Apache couldn’t get to it and he said that the guy put the wrong switch on. He actually tried to sort of jerry-rig it a little bit to make it work but that didn’t work. He said he had the right one and that’s what he put on it.

    American Home Shield is incredible and I can't imagine anything they could do better. I got my money's worth. My son also has it. He's the one who told me about it and he's had similar experiences. My first service call on them after my 30-day waiting period was for a heat pump furnace and I ended up getting almost a completely brand new one by the time the tech was finished. It cost me nothing and it was very expensive.

    I just call a phone number and they match me up right away with a contractor. I was calling them on Thursday of the previous week and they said they can have someone come out Friday. I asked if they had anything sooner, they looked and they were able to bring somebody in on Tuesday of the following week. It was quickly done and the contractor came out and fixed the issue. It was amazing. It made my wife happy too, so that made me happy.

    Being with American Home Shield for 6 years so far, I get prompt service from them relaying to the contractors. And the contractors call me very promptly and set up appointments most of the time. Also, we get good coverage for the price. What I like about them is I feel secure in knowing that if I have any major problems, they’re gonna be there for me.

    The only issue I’ve ever run into was a contractor that I don't know for the life of me why they are allowed to work for them. It has nothing to do with the service I get from AHS. It was an extremely bad experience recently. There was an item we have that evidently is an item that’s a new coverage so there was a lot of confusion. I would call American Home Shield, and they would say, “Yes, absolutely. You’re covered.” But then this contractor would call me and say, “No, we talked to American Home Shield and you’re not covered.” It went back and forth like that. But every time I called I’m not covered.

    Upon the third time that person came, my husband called American Home Shield. He said, “That person is not allowed in our house again. You’re gonna have to find somebody to come out and fix the issue,” which of course put us behind on getting the issue fixed. However, once we made the call, it was taken care of. They all worked it out on their end and we had a different contractor out immediately. And once this other contractor came out, they were like, “Yeah, no problem." It was so bizarre. We had to wait another week for them to come out, but they got the problem fixed. We didn’t pay that person anything for the service fee as well.

    I made claim with American Home Shield when the start button came off the dryer. Then my most recent claim was when my fridge wasn't cooling. When the fridge company went here, my husband called me. He was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. I like the timeliness of things by having AHS. When I expressed that I only have one fridge in my house and that it didn't work, the person I was talking to did not have an appointment but she tried. She said that they had a cancellation and that she was gonna make sure I get it. I then got a follow-up call saying that somebody could come out the next day, which was good. It was already the weekend and they didn't make me wait for AHS's office to open on Monday.

    I had a little leakage in my bathroom. The contractors seem professional. The only thing I was concerned is they didn’t protect their shoes when they walked in on my hallway. So, I was a little concerned about hygiene. They cleaned up. It was just I wish they would protect, put some cover on the shoes when they walked to the interior house.

    I’m happy with American Home Shield. They seem to be responsive and the customer service is good. So, I like it so far although I still notice there is a little leakage around my bathroom. They came and take a look at it and they said they couldn't detect anything. I’m not 100% satisfied with their quality of work. But I just didn’t wanna deal with it anymore. I didn’t call after they recalled for the first time. Every time, I have to arrange it and stay home, away from work. I’ve been AHS' customer for almost two years and they relatively do a good job taking care of clients, except this case, which was not their fault. It was the plumber's.

    The heat stopped working. Luckily, it was a relatively a warm day so we didn't had to have the contractor out ASAP but I did expedite just in case there was a major issue I couldn't see.     The rekey claim was seamless. The contractor kept us informed when they were running late, how late it was gonna be. And they stayed later because they didn’t get here on time because of emergency. I also had a claim where the furnace stopped working about three days after we moved it. American Home Shield sent a repairman out. They were here when they said they were gonna be here very quickly and fixed it, and didn’t cost anything except for the service call. I filed the claim online and there was no difficulty at all.

    They're quick and they send reputable companies. There have been some times where I needed the company to come back and they're open to letting that company I dealt with come back instead of having a new company, and I really like that. I've had great experience. I do my claims online unless there's an issue. When the company had to come back out, there was no way for me to enter that online, so they just send whoever pops up. But if it was not the company that was already out, I have to call and request that the company who first came out come back.

    When I submitted a claim to AHS online, it didn't go through. So, I had to call them. But then, I'm on hold for 15 or 20 minutes. Also, their deductible used to be 60 and the price keeps going up every year. I had a claim recently and their contractor, Valley Pro Appliance Repair was sent to unclog my dishwasher. They were out in three days and the tech was really good. He even gave me hints of what to do which were very helpful.

    I filed a claim over the phone for a dripping faucet issue. The guy from RG Plumbing and Rooter who came was very nice and very polite. I had 100% good experience with him. He had to change something in the tub and the faucet so he had to go to Home Depot. I was 100% satisfied with the service but I was not very happy with the faucet.     United Appliance Services was fast and efficient. This microwave broke three times, and they were the best one. They knew and ordered the correct part, and told us when that part was coming in. They guy even called us on a Saturday to say, "The part was in. Can we come?" It was unbelievable. I would like to only ever have them come and fix the appliances. We have had American Home Shield the whole time we've lived here. My husband was in the travel business, and it was easier to keep up in case there was an issue that came up when he was gone. So, when he was traveling, I've had air conditioner problems, a washer problem, and a heat problem. So, I called them and they were taken care of.

    One time, the company that they sent out was scamming us and we blackballed them from AHS. It had to do with the furnace and the guy told us it was going to cost us $200 out of pocket because he couldn't get to the thing. Then, my husband went on YouTube and figured it out. So, American Home Shield said, "We can't send another provider out." And my husband replied, "Why? The guy is scamming you. He is scamming me."

    Finally, a supervisor heard the story and she sent somebody else and did not charge us the service fee because they realized the company they had sent was a scam. She also said they that were not going to use that company anymore. That was the only time that had ever happened in the 10 years that we had it, but there are underhanded people no matter where you are in the world. The second company agreed with what we said. Overall, we are happy with American Home Shield. My sister-in-law also now has American Home Shield in Atlanta.

And between the technician's schedule and my schedule, it was about 5 days before he was out. The tech is with AM/PM Plumbing and everything went very smoothly. He was great. He had to order a new water heater and it took only about another few days. During that time, we still had hot water but the water heater was leaking.     AHS's online features are great and speed up the claim process. As long as I can use it, submitting claims goes well. But if I have to call or talk to them, it takes an eternity, which is very frustrating. Sometimes customer service is great, sometimes it's horrendous. It seems to be dependent upon who answers the phone. I will literally just hang up, call back and wait on the line for another 20 minutes to get someone else, and then the service is better. Also, they sometimes don't have the correct information. I could call back and get the correct information from the same department. They don't seem to be educated with their job or they're very frustrated. AHS should have more nice people to answer the phone. For my appliance issue, although it took longer than I had hoped, Appliance 911 replaced the heater and it seems to be functioning properly now.

    There were some sink stoppages and there was slow drainage in the bath tub. Plumb Genius came out and the claim went well. The guy also gave me some advice on some things. Submitting the claim has been easy. There is, however, one unresolved claim that we submitted back in August or September, and we haven't been able to come to an agreement on some duct work. We have had some other opinions on it and we feel that it should be covered under the warranty. But, they were saying that something was not covered because of the size of the furnace. Also, when a payment does not go through for a request, American Home Shield should try to contact me. This is because I requested for an electrician to come out too, and for some reason, the electrician hasn’t come yet. Maybe the payment did not go through, and it needs to be processed again.

    The dishwasher wouldn’t move to the next cycle, so the first time they came in to repair, they replaced the computer board of the door. When we tested it, it seemed to be working, but then they never run a full cycle while they were there. So when I tried to run the cycle, it wouldn’t move. It would move three cycles and not finish. So I called AHS again and they sent another person, and then said that there was an issue with the door. The door is not locking up. So they said AHS needs to order a new door for me, but I never heard from them. This has been more than two weeks. The last time they ordered the part, it took three or four weeks until they came back. They said the part would take long, so I just assumed this was the norm because eventually they came back. So I’ve been washing my dishes manually.

    The whole dishwasher started coming forward progressively more and more. So I called them to ask them to come and repair it to see if there was some damage to it. When I got their letter, it says that it is not a valuable claim because of misuse. But I couldn't believe what the contractor said and what was done. When I had trouble with my heater and my air conditioning, they came out and fixed them. I had no problem with American Home Shield because it was a pleasure to work with them. I've had good service with them. So this little dishwasher thing has me in shock.

    They talk nicely to me, which they should do professionally. They told me they would check into it but nothing has been done. I've been without a water heater now for what, since Wednesday or Thursday of this past week. The first step was they had the plumber come out which was very good. He found that it was leaking from the top and the bottom, consequently taking out the pilot light all the time. A tremendous amount of growth of mold is in there now, all on the wall, and it's still growing. All I want is my things fixed, like what I've been paying for. The dishwasher thing threw me for a loop because there was no misuse of this machine. I'm dissatisfied with the follow-up work of Home Shield.

    I called this morning at 8:30 and the girl was very nice. There wasn't a language barrier because she did understand English, and she spoke it clear enough for me to understand. She did what she was told. She kept on saying that they have to go for a recertification. What does that mean? Is it gonna be approved or not? They should do something.

    I called American Home Shield for someone to come and fix some appliances like the stove ventilation system, the dishwasher, and the refrigerator. A guy from Appliance Magic took a look at the refrigerator and changed out the part for the refrigerator for the water. That was fine but there was a light flickering inside the fridge. They said they don’t deal with light bulb issues, so I had to take care of that on my own. On the dishwasher, it wasn’t directly dealing with the dishwasher and it was more the plumbing of the dishwasher of how the water was being fed in. That was dripping a little bit, and because it wasn’t appliance-related and more plumbing-related, he didn’t take care of that. He seemed like a very nice guy and was straightforward. If the case doesn’t apply or if he doesn’t work on it, he doesn’t work on it.

    It kinda irritates me that I would have to pay for separate $100 fees to deal with appliance versus the plumbing versus electrical. It should be $100 and they would take care of everything for me. I don’t understand why I have to pay a deductible for separate categories for them to take care of the stuff. I dealt with it myself. I went out and bought it. It was a simple fix. It was just changing a hose. The part was like six bucks, and it’d probably take me 30 minutes or so. It required me to do it because they didn’t do it, and I was wondering, “What did I pay for?” I was hoping that someone would manage it and take care of all the appliance and any issues I have where I don’t have to do it. AHS should take care of these little things like a lightbulb change and changing of a hose. It doesn’t take that much time. I wasn’t happy overall. I canceled my service with them.

Mando's Plumbing came out a couple of days after I submitted the claim and it all worked out well. We've had AHS since we bought the house. It was included by the seller. We've had a couple of plumbing claims and the contractors have done really well. But to submit $100 every claim is kind of much. I'm glad that they refunded my money on a couple of things that weren't needed. Also, they don't cover water softeners. That's a given in a house anymore. And then I had somebody call me and tell me I can buy the second year for $500 but they never called me back like they said they would.

    The contractor who came for our plumbing issue was professional, nice, courteous, and timely. He came out and did the job in about 30 minutes. He went down in the outside valve between the house and the street and went out to the street. He said he hit something and that it jarred the snake he had running down in there. He had to give it a little push, but it all went through and the issue was solved. He said that it may be a root that was growing in the land in the front yard. I love AHS, which is why I’ve had it for about five years now. But they should have an easier number when you have an emergency.

    I've been with AHS for almost two years now. It’s an outstanding service for my house in Twentynine Palms, ‘cause it limits resources out and it’s hard to find somebody to respond ‘cause it’s such a remote area and it’s a rental property. I had a recent claim with AHS regarding the heating. There was some confusion. AHS kept recording the wrong number, so when the first contractor called, they were calling the wrong number.

    When I called the contractors, they said, “We tried to call you guys. Nobody answered.” I asked, “What number do you have? I don’t know where you got that number ‘cause it’s not either of our numbers.” They said, “We can’t come out. We’ve already been in that area. We can’t come out till next Tuesday,” I said, “No. It’s not gonna work.” So, then they assigned me to somebody else. But, the contractor had the same number, the same exact thing. I asked the lady at American Home Shield to repeat the number to me to make sure they were putting it right. Somehow, she gave her the wrong number again. They defaulted on that other number.

    Now, the contractor named Alvarez has an attitude. They were like, “We called twice.” I said that was the wrong number. She was like, “Somebody was there. We’re not coming out till this date.” I asked, “Can I schedule the appointment?” It was the next day. She said, “We can come out tomorrow.” But this was after a whole week. Then she said she needed to speak to the tenant. I said I could schedule that appointment. But she said no. I said, “Can you call him back?” She said, “No. I’m not calling back. We’ve already called twice.” I said, “Okay. So, then let me schedule it myself.”

    It was just a matter of her getting smart. Their customer service sucks, but as long as they do this job, I really don’t care. I also called them to pay the 800 that they charged for just to strap it down and some other crazy costs to me. And she was getting smart again, but once again, I’m not gonna make that my issue. But I love American Home Shield.

    I had an issue with the washing machine and AHS sent out idiots from A Plus who left me with a noisy machine. They came out twice and the second time they did, the washing machine was making more noise than when they came the first time. The tech said that it was not gonna cause any harm to anybody but no one wants that.

    Then six months later, it was running for two hours for one cycle, so I had to pay AHS to have the techs come back out again. This time, they sent out J&A Appliance and their guy took good care of it. They’ve got parts that needed to be replaced and now it runs like it’s brand-new. They were awesome people and they stayed here until they got it fixed. Initially, it took them a couple of days to come out and the first guy that came out was a worker of the owner. But the owner came out and fixed it the second time. He replaced a bunch of stuff and didn’t take long to come out. All in all, I’m happy with AHS. They’ve been good in taking care of what I needed to be taken care of and they said they were gonna file a complaint against the other company for what they did when they came out the first time for the washing machine.

    We called American Home Shield and they went through two different contractors, and they couldn’t get anybody out there. So, I had water leaking on the floor for a couple of days but we got it taken care of. I tried to call an independent contractor, asked AHS's approval and they wouldn’t approve the amount of money that they wanted to pay for it. They sent another contractor out and that was okay. But in the interim, I got somebody to tighten up a nut on the water valve and it stopped dripping. This water problem was very unique, very unusual. In this respect, when it came to the plumbing issue, AHS did the best that they could but it wasn’t good enough. The service provided by the contractors was very good though.

    We’ve been protected with American Home Shield for six years now or longer. I heard an ad on the local radio station. I called them, they gave us a price, and we were satisfied with it. In the few things that we have had happen, they’ve been very good. In fact, we mentioned it to our two sons and they have contracts with them as well. In general, American Home Shield was very good. They replaced a hot water furnace and I had to come up with a portion of that. I knew that because of their limit, which I understood. The furnace was 40 years old. I also had an issue with a refrigerator and they replaced that. I had a issue with a washing machine and they replaced that too at no cost to me because I took their approved items. I’m satisfied with AHS and I like working with them.

    AHS's representative are always good and the people that they hire as independent contractors are really spot on. I've been with AHS for three years and I have three homes with it. I have properties in different counties and the experiences are all the same as far as being able to get to me in 24 hours. I have the heating company at one property and I also have another company checking out my washer and stove at my other property. And this afternoon, they are coming here to do my oven.

    However, they could improve their turnaround and have a quicker response. They're way too slow on the replacement. Getting my refrigerator for one of my properties took a lot longer than necessary and we had to purchase a small refrigerator. It took about a month before we got the refrigerator in, which was upsetting. I had a fire in the oven and some of the elements won't be able to be repaired. It's probably gonna be a total replacement. I'm hoping that I don't have to wait as long as my other property. I kept AHS because I've got a better service for my other stuff, but if I have to wait a long period to get my oven, then that'll be the last one that I'd do with them and I would be looking to take my business elsewhere.

    We’ve been really pleased with working with AHS and submitting claims with them has been really good for us. Most of the time, I've done it online and that seems to work okay. I could just go in, submit my claims in a few minutes, and put some details in there. Recently, I had a heating issue where they sent out Air 72, Inc. For whatever reason, the unit was no longer heating the space and there was some type of part that had to be replaced. It was a piece inside the house that had to be replaced and it wasn’t outside like the fan or anything like that.

    AHS also helped us when our oven died in our kitchen and they replaced that. We had another part that broke in our dryer and they sent someone out to replace that part. Then another HVAC unit messed up on us. It was a cooling case and they had someone come out and fix that for us, too. AHS helped us as well when we had a washing machine upstairs that had an issue. Whenever we have a claim, it's really quick to get somebody out and for the past couple of ones, we’ve had someone out the next day.

    I had a heating issue and AHS sent Hospitality Heating and Air. I thought my heating system was electric and then I found out it was gas so I called AHS back and the company that was coming out said, “No problem. We do both.” The guy came out, put something in and it didn’t work. I called him back, and he came back and adjusted it. It’s working now. Everything was done professionally. I didn’t have to call them back to complain about anything. But the following morning a lady called and said, “American Home Shield said you called them again,” which I hadn’t. So I don't know about the mix-up because I told her everything was good. Everything is still good.

    The guy from Atlas Residential Services knows nothing. He looked at the refrigerator and said that the compressor was broken. But then he also said, "I don't do that kind of work." We had to have someone else come out. And the next one was Old Country and they were wonderful. Atlas wasted our time. We lost food and we had to cram it into other refrigerators and we lived out of an ice chest. We could have had the other guy out and had it fixed within two days. That was the second time they came out for the same problem. We asked AHS to have Atlas marked off of our appliance repair list. I told them why and they were fine.     It was too hot in my third floor and when I was trying to lower the heat, the heat was still up. I turned it off and it was still running. I called my insurance and I spoke to a lady who told me that somebody was going to come. The first time, the company was supposed to come around 8 or 9 o'clock, but the guy never came at that hour. He called me 10 minutes before 12 because I told him, “I’m going to work at 12 o’clock. I got to say it’s got to be early in the morning.” And then, he never show up. And the second time, it was Liberty who was sent out. The guy came early at around 9 o’clock, started working, and finished on time. I then signed the paper.     I called American Home Shield to file my claim for my dryer that was not operating properly. I had three people come out on that dryer. Each time, I called AHS back, and they arranged for a contractor to come out. Each one of them were different. The first one that came out just looked at it, didn't pull it out, and stuck a thermometer in it and told me it was operating properly. I called AHS back, explained to them what had happened, and then, they transferred it to the second person. The second person came out and told me that I had to have my doors taken down because it was an inset. They stuck another thermometer in and told me that they were gonna order a part, but they wouldn’t be able to come back and put it in until I had the doors taken down.

    I called the company back and I explained that to them. And I said, “Look, not a problem. I will have the doors taken down.” I had the doors taken down, and I had my vents cleaned. And the guy that cleaned my vents tested some of the stuff on the dryer and told me that I didn’t need whatever it was that the guy said I needed. So, at that point, I was frustrated. I called the company back and they sent a third guy out here who replaced the part. I had an issue with the contractors. He had no problem accessing what it was. And he assured me if it was not the part that he replaced, he will continue until he found out exactly what was wrong with it. So, I felt a lot more confident with him than the other two. Each time I called back and I explained to them what happened, AHS did not give me a problem. They said, “We’ll send somebody else out.”

    The only issue that I have with the contractors is with Drain Go Plumbing. I've dealt with them previously with another home warranty company before American Home Shield and those employees are not paid hourly. They’re paid a commission, based on what the homeowner ends up having to pay out of pocket. I had hot water claims at two different properties and they would come out and say what the issue with the hot water heater was. Then they would say that it wasn't covered by my home warranty and what it would cost to fix it. And so, we would pay whatever they told me to pay. But that doesn’t resolve the issue and they would come back out. They would tell me what the issue was but that it wasn't covered by my home warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket.

    The third time around, the tech would tell me what the issue was and that it was covered by my warranty. They told me two times, previously, that it was these other things and I had to pay them out-of-pocket for it. On both houses, the hot water heaters are in the attic and on both times, they told me that they would have to take the ladder down to access the attic in order to get the new hot water heater up there. But I would have to hire a carpenter to come back to reinstall the ladder. And they don’t have a fixed-fee schedule. Every plumber that works for Drain Go Plumbing is considered a master plumber so they set their own fee schedules.

    I told American Home Shield that I don’t wanna deal with them anymore. But I had a plumbing issue and it was automatically assigned to them. I contacted American Home Shield and they said that's what they have in the area. I asked if I could have permission to go outside of the network for reimbursement and they said no. I said I have six or seven warranties with them and told them to cancel those if that is what I’m gonna have to deal with. Then they said they got this other guy they could use.

    Also, I have an issue right now with American Home Shield where they’re reimbursing me a $1,000 and I haven’t gotten that yet. It’s been months. I called them probably three weeks ago and they said it would take 14 to 28 days for me to get the check in the mail. But they just told me the check has already been mailed. I still haven’t received the check. I haven’t had the time to call because I would call and I would get somebody on the phone that has no idea what I'm talking about. And most of the time, they give me some excuses to get me off the phone. What I have found out is that the way for me to have any resolutions with American Home Shield is having to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in order to get ahold of somebody that’s willing to find out what has happened and to fix the issue.

    I called American Home Shield when our water heater was leaking gas. American Home Shield had originally hooked me up with another company to come out and service it. They gave me the company's number but I could not get ahold of that company. I thought that they were not responsive. So, I looked at their reviews and I saw they were not getting great reviews.     I've been pretty happy with AHS. I've been with them for 10 or more years and they've done several things for me. My last problem was with the blower in my heating system and I went online to submit the claim. Usually, their contractor, Austin Heating would respond within 24 hours. This time, two or three days went by. It was late in the week that I made the claim and the wait went over the weekend. I was expecting a call but I had to make the appointment.     Aladdin's Plumbing installed the waste disposal and everything was fine. The garbage disposal was leaking water. I called to file a claim and within a couple of days, somebody showed up. But he didn't replace it right away. He had to order it. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful so everything worked out okay. We are very satisfied with American Home Shield except for one issue that happened last year. We had an incident with one of their people that do work for the clients. He was the one that replaced the water heater. He was very nasty. He didn't wanna come back and fix the issue. It was a bad experience. But everybody else was always very professional, they leave a copy of what was done, and explained what’s going on, except for that person.

    Long time policyholder, (10+ years), 2 different addresses and had been fairly pleased with the service and coverage. However, in 2019 life happened and apparently if you use this policy too much (who know what their definition of that is), because I asked and no one could answer the question. Anyway without notice or anything they cancelled the policy and required double the monthly premium to reinstate the policy. Called to cancel and they said they would reduce pricing to keep me as a valued customer. Ok, go for it. 20 minutes of hold and, "No thank you. We can't lower your price. Oh and by the way you have to pay a monthly premium penalty to cancel."

    So beware, use it I guess, just don't use it too much. For the trolls, it's a less than 10 year old property with normal maintenance issues. AHS just doesn't like to honor the appliance portions of these contracts and will continue to fix with bandaids at their expense. Very disappointed with the resolution of this whole thing. Moving to Amazon Home Warranty at half the price!!

    I submitted a claim about my 40 year old furnace when it comes on a loud bang shakes my floor. Sent tech out and he found carbon dioxide readings with carbon detector. (Heating exchange leak!). The HVAC company calls me a week later and told me it's not covered but the charge would be $3000 and to replace furnace and coil. That $1500 used to purchase this plan could have been used to replace this outdated furnace! Will never recommend this company! They also didn't know they was dealing with an certified HVAC technician.

    The sump pump pipes came aloose outside. I called American Home Shield after 7:00 in the morning, and the lady told me that the earliest somebody could get out was 12:00 to 4:00. The man from Stilwell Plumbing came after 1 o'clock -- I thought it was little bit long since it was supposed to have been an emergency because water was coming in the basement all of that time. But, other than that, everything was okay. He put an extra piece on there and fixed it.

    I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and something that I thought was covered turned out not to be. Sometimes, they couldn’t get someone to do some of the things that they were supposed to cover and do for me and trying to get the paperwork to get somebody else to do it and then file paperwork with them to get reimbursement, then I'd probably end up just hiring somebody to do the work and not being bothered. Also, the fees started to grow. It was $35. Now, it’s $100.

    One time I left them and went to another company. The other company wasn’t as good as American Home Shield so I figured I would go back and give them another try. Some things changed and I realized I didn’t have the right coverage of what I thought I had. Once I got that all fixed, we are very satisfied with the service that we get. I submitted claims over the phone and the customer service reps were great. The contractors that came out were very professional and it was a good interaction also.

    I always recommend American Home Shield because it's a good program that a lot of people don’t use or utilize or know about, and it can really come in handy when people have some expensive repairs or unexpected repairs. Especially if they are homeowners, this is something that will save them money in the long run when these major things break down.

    American Home Shield should train their staff to be a bit more professional as far as letting the consumers know that they don’t cover a specific item because that was the issue I had with the last situation with my garage door. When I called them initially, they indicated that it was covered. But when the garage door technician came out, he said that they only cover the actual motor and not the spring. But that was on me though. I should’ve read the note. But the technician that came out was professional. He took care of the job. So far, I like American Home Shield's responsiveness and the subcontractor they send out are professional. I have referred them to friends. It’s a must for a homeowner because if not, you’re gonna be stuck with a lot of unnecessary exorbitant repair bills.

    In the one year that I've been with American Home Shield, I like the fast response and knowing that I have the availability to use them. When it goes well, it goes really well. When it doesn't, it doesn't. They could improve their communication though. I had a situation regarding my cooktop and they kept telling me different people would come put it in. The contractors would come and they couldn't put it in. So then, it was the wrong one. I went around with it for probably a month. One other time was very frustrating. It was a miscommunication. When I talked to them on the phone, it was like everything was covered.

    When my garage door went out, they said the motor went out because it was caused from the springs. But it was caused from something else. The garage door opener was 30 years old and I was sure it was not just the springs. They wouldn't pay for it and that was not great. But overall, American Home Shield has done a very good job. It was just me probably clueing in to reading more what the contract said and understanding it. And I would not have known those things to even ask them. Plus, I’ve got a 30-plus year old home and I have to have some wiring done and some new ductwork done.

    They worked very well with me with ovens. I've had them come out on my washing machine and that was just a quick little fix. So, I had them out five times. They can probably reiterate when they're talking to you that they need to keep in mind that not everything is covered. So, it's not like you pay $100 and everything's covered for someone to come out. It's not given.

    I would share my experiences and what I've been through. I actually referred my 91-year old mom to American Home Shield and she has used it. She has had a couple situations. One was a dishwasher latch. They came out and fixed it. A couple of months later, it wasn't at all, and she had to pay the $100 again for them to come out. So that part was crappy. But other than that, she's been pleased with American Home Shield also.

    It took a couple of visits to iron out the actual detail of my claim. But once that was done, he was very thorough and followed up every time he needed to follow up. The issue was that the valve that was feeding the icemaker was not fully closing. And eventually, ice built up in the nozzle, so the water would no longer flow in the ice maker. It went fine.     I had an electric issue and my experience with Flash Garage Door Service was quick and convenient. They took care of what I needed to be taken care of. The contractor was smart, professional, knowledgeable, and very efficient. For someone like me to have tackled it, it would have taken a couple of hours. So, I was glad to see that he was able to manage it much quicker. There's a coupler that connects between the drive mechanism for the door to come up and the actual motor. If that breaks, it's really hard to get to. And if you don't know how to calibrate the door, then that's something that a professional would be able to manage much quicker than I would. He did a good job with explaining. If AHS could cost less, that would be great. But I most likely will be renewing with them.

    One of my friends had referred AHS to me. The online submission process for the claims is good. My latest claim was for plumbing and Cannon Plumbing was the contractor. It went fine but the only thing I didn’t know about was they said they needed $45, while they were here, for the permit. And they said that someone from the state would come by to inspect it to make sure they put it in right which is what the $45 was for. I don’t understand that because with them being a licensed plumber, they should already have a permit to install stuff like that.

    American Home Shield called me and said that the $45 wasn’t covered under the contract and that I would need to pay them. But I see that was a lie because nobody has called me from the state, nor has anyone came by here. I’m curious to know what happened with that because nothing was done. I paid an additional $45 for what? Other than that, the service overall with American Home Shield is good and I just renewed my contract as well.

    American Home Shield sent Certified Tech to make sure the furnace was performing properly. I finally got the door off the furnace. It's an old furnace and there was no filter in there. I went to Home Depot, they have the filters, but the tech told me what size to get. He cleaned out the dust and the sand, and he did a good job. I've had American Home Shield policy for five months now. Submitting a claim has been very easy and the contractors would be here the next, usually morning. So far, the contractors that they've sent out were friendly and had very good customer service. American Home Shield also helped me with the toilet and the sink in the kitchen that was leaking.     I called AHS and they gave me the contractor's phone number. It was a prompt system. Everything was handled very professionally. The contractor was professional as well. They assessed the situation and figured out what part they needed. I had to wait for them to order the part and for the part to be received, which took a couple of days. Then they came up and replaced the board. They fixed it and away they went. They automatically billed the $100 on my credit card, so I did not worry about what this whole expense was because I know it was gonna be pricey.

    We’re in Texas and it’s 100% humidity and when our air conditioner goes out in the middle of the summer, having to wait two or three days for AHS's service people to show up is a drawback. Whereas if we called somebody locally, they'd be out there the same day. However, AHS always repaired everything that needed to be repaired. And it's certainly affordable for us right now.

    We’ve had mostly good luck with the contractors. We have had some that tried to talk us into doing stuff beyond the scope of what needed to be done, but once we figured those out, we just avoided them and we took the alternatives. But we've been with AHS for around 15 years and that has only happened in a couple of cases. Also, I'm very pleased with Five Star Plumbing. They did great.

    AHS sent out EJ's Appliance Repair to service our washing machine and there was a different man that came out the first time. He had to order a part then a different one came out the second time. He fixed the lid on the washing machine that had been broke for a while and while he was in there, he said that he also fixed the spring. He said it was just loose. They did great and I've had no problems with it. They weren't there a really long time but they explained everything that was wrong and everything they did. They're probably the best repairmen for the washer and dryer we've had out. Other than that, the payment with AHS is a fixed amount that I know I'm gonna pay and that's kinda great. It's also that much for a repairman in town to come out plus what the repair actually cost. So I don't feel like I'm wasting my money.

    The contractor declogged the dishwasher. Prior to that, the boiler and the oven didn’t light up. He fixed that too, so it does properly work now. The customer service when I call to file a claim and tha contractors have been fine. But I was disappointed when three times in a row, the repairman came and said the part was not covered.     Whenever I've had a problem, I try to ask for the Jones Family because they’re really good. They are really reliable. I had a little hose that was leaking. It was a slow leak and the tech fixed it but it was too late. It rotted my hardwood underneath the refrigerator. Now they have to replace the whole floor. I've used Jones Family two or three times within a year and they did really good. They were wonderful to use. Other than them, I normally use a local company.

    I like how Jones Family announce themselves and text you and you know that they’re coming. Also, their car is marked. These things give me confidence because sometimes American Home Shield uses cars with no marks, no uniform, no ID, and that makes me uncomfortable. There had been contractors in the past that I have not had a good experience with. Even last summer, it took six weeks to get my AC repaired. It was horrible. But overall, the majority had been good experiences. American Home Shield always come through. I’ve had them now for 15 years.

    I have been with AHS for over 14 years (paying an average of $55 per month, which means I have paid them over $9000). Now that I actually have a major claim and need my water heater replaced they are giving me the runaround!! They sent a contractor to my home, charging me the usual $100 service fee which is fine) that was not equipped to replace the water heater. So instead of sending out a new contractor, which I found, is equipped and contracted through AHS and sent me a quote and invoice to complete the job, they want to give me a cash offer for my water heater which will not even cover half of the replacement cost. They are telling me since the diagnosis that the original contractor reported is correct, they are not authorized to send someone back out..REALLY!!!!

    I could have told you over the phone that the water heater was 15 years old and needed to be replaced. So what they are telling me it's luck of the draw if the technician they contract will be able to resolve your issues, and if not, "Oh well we tried." Additionally, I have called them several times trying to speak to a supervisor about this issue, it would easier to get into Fort Knox than speak to a supervisor, only to be put on hold for 15+ minutes then mysteriously disconnected. To further add to my frustration and disappointment not only with the water heater issue but with the overall level of customer service, I spoke to an AHS Rep last night that told me the original contractor was, in fact, able to replace the water heater and all I had to do was call them this morning, pay an out-of-pocket cost of $271 and schedule the appointment.

    Well, guess what I did this morning, called the contractor only to find out that was a lie!!!! What is really upsetting is the Rep didn't just give me general information regarding my service request, she gave me specifics i.e service order #, out-of-pocket-cost and confirmed the contractor's name & phone #. WOW!!!! So of course, I called AHS back only to be put on hold and disconnected again trying to get in touch with a supervisor. Enough is enough, so I decided to go to the AHS Website and try the "chat" service. Well, still no resolution to my issue.

    Since I couldn't call in and be connected to a supervisor, I asked via chat to have a supervisor contact me...Well, it's been over 40 min and my phone has not rung. This company will sell you what you hope to be a peace of mind if something in your home breaks down, however, when you have a major issue..it becomes a NIGHTMARE!!! BUYER BEWARE!!??

    Budget AC, Heating and Plumbing is about 90% good. We have one guy come out who had a poor attitude once. Beside that, it was fine. We called them for the AC and the water heater a couple of times, and they ended up coming out for a plumbing issue as well. The quality of their work has been fine. It's $75-fee to get someone out and sometimes just screw a bolt on, so maybe I should be a little bit more handy but I don't mess with water and electric.

    I had some sockets that were not working and Elite Electric Solutions was able to replace them and get them up fairly quickly. I don't have any difficulty with submitting the claims online.     My wife called about our stove and a Sears repair team was sent out. However, there was some miscommunication since when they got there, it turned out that they didn’t service that type of a stove. It was a high-end stove so they referred us to J&R who handles that. J&R came out and saw the parts that were required. Some of the burners weren’t turning on, there is an issue with the igniters, and they had to replace a bunch of parts.     The AC claim was okay. The tech was pleasant. He knew what he was doing and did a good job. The other claim was for the garage door. It won’t go up anymore. Another guy came and only spent 5 to 10 minutes. He asked what the problem was and I told him my garage isn’t working. He looked at it and asked me if the motor is working. I said it is ‘cause if you turn it on, you will hear the sound that it’s moving. He saw that and told me the problem is the spring. I never thought it will be that costly. I can just go to Home Depot and change it myself. I had paid AHS membership about $70 a month. I called to request for somebody to come and I paid $100. Now, just for the garage door and only for the spring, the tech will not be able to do it because the motor is the only one covered. I was so frustrated and I’m thinking of cancelling my subscription.

    Our dryer quit drying. I submitted the claim with Home Shield online and I found the website easy to use. We do it that way for the the last two, three years. Home Shield always tells us that within 24 hours that they would give me a call and schedule the service time. The contractor, Hinco, was very knowledgeable. The tech called me around 10 o'clock that Monday morning to schedule. Came out the same day within just a few hours. Diagnosed the problem, did the repair, explained what he found. It was a pretty smooth process. He did a really good job.

    The heating coil is what goes out in our dryer about once a year. He told us the reason why. He said, "I can only say what I found, but there was a tab inside it that was actually broken off which made the coil in a funky position." So, he went ahead and fixed that as well. Didn't even put it on the ticket. He said, "It's just good customer service goes that way." Very knowledgeable. Knew exactly what it was and actually fixed the problem.

    We've always had good experience. We've been customers of American Home Shield for six or seven years at this point. They always do exactly what they're supposed to. I don't have to worry about the technicians because I do travel a lot for my job. So, I've had to have the air conditioner fixed and I didn't have to worry about somebody trying to pull a fast one on my wife when I'm four, five states away. That happened a couple of summers ago where they sent somebody out to fix the air conditioner. The technician called to explain everything to me before he fixed what was wrong. They're a great company.

    ACI Northwest came out for our HTG. We like the repair people very much. In fact, we’ve hung on to their card just in case we need other things done. The tech took some extra time and went back and forth to his shop picking up parts for us. I’m sure he saved quite a bit of money on the repair, so the claim went well. I wish they included roof. But everything else is okay. I didn’t wanna come out with somebody else the next time around because I imagined this is gonna be an ongoing problem with it. The unit is 25 years old, and so we might see him maybe once a year, so it better be somebody that’s good and I like.     We had a shower that was leaking around the handle. In another bath upstairs, we also had a shower that was very slow spray it almost had no water pressure coming out of it. And then the second phase was we had some slow flushing going on with our toilets. I went online and put in the claim. The website is fairly user-friendly. Once you used it a couple of times, you get used to how you need to maneuver around. By the next day, I received a text and/or an email from Home Shield. And then I got a text from the contractor saying they would be out. They came out on the second or third day after the claim was put in, but they were out quick.

    The tech from Hays changed the inner body of the leaking faucet in the tub shower unit. On the other one, he might had to clean out some lime build-up. And then on the toilets, a vent was clogged. You gotta get the vent right so you don’t get a vapor lock-in. It was excellent service. Obviously, you don’t want to have issues with your plumbing. But the fact that the service response was excellent and the problems were taken care of, so Home Shield did their part, the plumbing company did their part, and we paid our deductible, so we did our part too. The toilets now worked just fine, the shower does not leak and the other shower has pressure. We got what the warranty is intended to do. That’s what we’ve paid for, so we’re very satisfied.

    We had a leak in our garbage disposal one time and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Using their site was too difficult and it wanted things that I couldn't provide. Hers & His Plumbing came to do service. They replaced the garbage disposal and things have been fine since then. AHS wanted to know what caused the leak and told me it was gonna be four to six weeks before I get my reimbursement. Four to six weeks is a ridiculous amount of time to cut a check. I complained about that and I got my money two days later.

    My clothes dryer was malfunctioning. It was making some screeching noises and it smelled awful. I submitted the claim online and American Home Shield's website was very easy to use. They contacted me very quickly after I submitted it, and then we scheduled a time when they would come in. 4A Appliance Repair came out within a few days and they tried originally lubricating the parts, but that didn't fix the problem.

    It was great that they had experience with the problem and had seen it in other models before, and they knew what needed to be done. They said that with this Samsung model, that particular part is often defective. They even showed me whatever houses the bearings that the thing rotates on. So, they ended up ordering a replacement part. They then replaced the part and it has worked perfectly since then. The contractor was fantastic.     I love AHS' contractor, Aquatech. I have used them before and they do really good work. I like their follow-up. The lady there, Sharon, calls often and lets us know what they found and what the next steps are. However, on our most recent claim, they could not figure out what was going on with our spa. They said we should probably call a water leak company.

    I've had AHS for about eight years and, generally, the service was good. I just wish they had a plan that would include appliances and was more affordable. I know Sears has a plan that has appliances included, and we almost went with that, but I didn't feel comfortable having two different plans - one for my home and the other for everything else. I once had to call AHS for something and it was a $270 bill for a tiny gasket. If I had that covered, that would have been paid for, probably including the appliance on a coverage all year. The repair guy even felt guilty and could not believe he had to charge me that much for a little O-ring that had wiggled off the back of the washing machine. Other than that, I generally I like what AHS covers and the service has been fine.

    Some of the people sent to us have been very good while some have not been so good. A couple of contractors that AHS contract with come out and do band-aid work on whatever they have to do just enough to patch to where, after 30 days, we would be back at square one again. We had that before with the air conditioning when we got A-US Air. That company is not good at all and they really need to get rid of them. They've come out to our rental properties so many times and even at my own home. When we called American Home Shield again and requested that they send us someone different, the person that came said, "They didn't fix your problem. Your problem is still here." Plus there are some other damage that have been done. So, we would always request, "No. Please do not send A-US Air."

    We got ASAP Plumbing in a recent claim and they were good. I didn't have problems with them. They were prompt, they came out, they fixed the problem and rectified the problem right then and there. Everything has been okay over at the house now. American Home Shield is very good but they just need to watch and look into some of their contractors.

    My heater would tick on and blow for about a minute and turn back off. It did it kinda both for the AC and the heaters. I called American Home Shield and told them that I didn't know how to actually report the matter because it looked like my heating is gas and AC is electric. They looked like two separate entities. The rep helped me figure out how we were gonna do that. She was gonna file it under the heater because that was where the problem started and if it ended up being the AC, she clarified for me that it wouldn’t be a duplicate charge. They would just resend somebody else out there if needed. I was pleased with that. The contractors with American Home Shield have all been pretty professional. For my heater claim, they assigned me to the Royal Flush Company. A guy came out and I briefly explained the same thing to him. He went and did his testing. He ended up fixing both of them so I was happy. Everything has been fine for me.

    The power on our refrigerator just went out. I thought it was the plug but as soon as the plug was on, it wasn't getting cold at all. The lights would come on so I was assuming they were working, but every day it was getting warmer in there. So, it was time to call American Home Shield. The technician who came out was a young cool guy. He diagnosed it and figured out what the problem was. He then came back a couple of days later to put a part in.

    I've had American Home Shield for 12 years and I've loved it. Now, I'm using them for my water heater and it's getting trying right now. So many different people happen to be involved. The water heater caused damage to my house and it soaked my walls inside and out. I had a plumber to come out and he just took a picture and left. That didn't solve anything. My unit is still leaking. It took them almost five days to come out, so I asked AHS if somebody was supposed to come out sooner than this instead of my house getting soaked and all the stuff from my garage being damaged. Also, nobody is gonna pay me for these days that I'm taking off and for all these damages.

    When I finally got somebody to do something, they told me I gotta pay $1,300 out of my pocket for them to remove the water heater and put another one in. That is how much a water heater costs for. If they have the warranty on my water heater and they're gonna replace the water heater, it doesn't it make sense that if you're gonna replace it, then somebody has to put it in. But no, they were telling me they wouldn't pay to install it.

    I'm upset with the plumbing company. I don't like their attitude and the way they're doing things. They come out, don't say a word to me, and then they send a report that told me that I gotta pay $1,300. Then they were telling me that they would not come out until I get all the stuff in the garage fixed and the drywall repaired and everything else.

    American Home Shield promised that somebody is coming out today to do her inspection so they can get started on repairing my drywall and inside of my house but as for the plumbing company, nothing. They said they were not coming out until all that stuff was finished, and then I gotta pay them $1,300 upfront before they start anything. Then apparently, AHS is gonna give me a cheaper water heater because mine was $1,800 and they're giving me 1250, and then have to pay to put it in. I also can't use my own people, like my own plumber, to make it cheaper. It's certified. If I did that, they said it would take ten more days.

    American Home Shield was great. They are always timely and I've had a wonderful experience. About a month ago, they came right out for my refrigerator. They diagnosed it and figured out the problem. Then they came right back, put it together and they were done. My son just bought a house and I had turned him on American Home Shield. But right now, it's just a nightmare and I'm upset. No one has told me anything to make me happy yet and I still have that same leaky water heater.

    I had issues with two toilets, and the other toilet is fine. The tech was very thorough. The claim was resolved for a day, but the water is coming back from the base again. The tech told me that if that happened, that means that it was backed up again. He did his job, but there might be something more than just snaking out the both areas. So I have my son using the other bathroom. This claim worked well. It’s just not resolved unfortunately. The very first time that I had to use AHS, the garbage disposal was backed up. I had the gentleman out at the house for that, and he told me to put something down in the sink to keep it from clogging up. I didn’t think that was cool, and that wasn’t a very pleasant experience.

    My unit was blowing out cool air, and I called American Home Shield so they can send somebody out to see what’s going on. They told me someone will be calling me within the next 24 to 48 hours, and they did. They scheduled an appointment, and they came out and checked the unit. I wasn’t pressured but they offered me something so I won’t have the problem anymore. Right now, I can’t afford to do what they offered. But they said in the near future to kinda consider redoing my unit into an energy-efficient unit. I’m taking it into consideration. The tech gave me options to do a payment plan. Budget Heating is really good. I called them last year about my AC unit. My filter needed to be switched out as well. So, their guy did all of that for me and told me to think about getting the energy-efficient unit, so I won’t have those problems anymore. My overall experience was really good.

    I’m a new homeowner, so I don’t really know what’s going on. And it wasn’t my first time calling American Home Shield before. So, I really appreciate them. They act really fast. They take all of my information. They always feel like they’re sorry that we have to experience what it is that we’re experiencing, but they’re always there to make me feel better about the situation. I generally call in to submit my claims. It’s easy to get a hold of them.

    We weren't getting heat, just the air conditioning and then, the unit outside was freezing up. I called American Home Shield and told them what the problem was. They sent Perry out, and they had to replace two parts. Also, they charged me for the Freon because they had to put new Freon in the AC. That didn’t seem to solve the issue so, AHS sent them out again. They found some other stuff wrong with it but that didn't seem to solve the problem. So, I called American Home Shield, who said that they would send them back and noted that I wouldn't have to pay the $125 because it was a recall. It’s the third time that the contractor, Perry Mechanical, has been here. I was a little unhappy with them but there were two guys that came out today and so far, it’s working.

    The refrigerator was making a buzzing noise and we didn’t know what it was. We called AHS and Optimum Appliance came out. The technician was professional. He pulled the refrigerator out from the wall and took it apart. There was ice built up around the fan. He replaced the sensor and it's working good now. We filed another claim as well with regards to some of these electric wall heaters in our house. They have little fans and a couple of them seem like they don’t work very well. A different guy came out, looked at it and took down the paperwork. He said he’d be back in touch. This was two weeks ago. Overall, AHS has been very responsive. We had a couple little issues, but they sent people right out. It's a pretty good deal. I also paid a little extra for some extra coverage. It's nice to get a customer service to call and say, "Hey, you can extend your service for only 70 bucks more."

    I have an AC problem and paid 4x for freon. It doesn’t make sense for me because the people American Home Shield uses try to do something different. I have my other house and have 10 years almost with freon. I've had American Home Shield for almost 3 years and this is the first time this happened. The contractor said they have a better warranty, they charge $34, I don’t have to pay for freon and they do maintenance, but I told them I'm good. I have two properties that I'm gonna do also with American Home Shield, but I told the rep the price is too much. I was paying $49.99. Now, I pay $53. The price goes up and I don't know why.     The heat was coming on too much even though I didn't want it to come on so much at night. I took a space heater and put it in there near the thermostat, so it drove the thermostat way up. When it got cold again and I've decided to have the heat come on, I couldn't get it to come on. But what happened was I didn't bring it up enough degrees to get it to come on. So, it was a waste of $600 I spent. If I just turned it up a few more degrees, it would have popped on because American Home Shield sent out Harold's AC Repair in here and did that, and problem solved.

    I did have one other issue with them. The icemaker stopped working seven months ago. I called American Home Shield and tried to schedule an appointment to get my icemaker fixed in my refrigerator. They said they'd get back to me and they never did. So, I just gave up on it and I've been buying bagged ice ever since. Also, their claims process was irritating because they constantly advertise, "24 hours, 7 days a week, you can call." And first thing they told me was I could file a claim online. Other than that, they've been good. In my own mind, it didn't become that important because I don't use that much ice anyhow. So, I just let it go and it's still broken. It's not worth a $100 to me right now to get it fixed.

    So far, I've been under treatment for cancer and I hate pulling a cancer card. This last time, I ended up pulling the cancer card because it happened to be on Christmas eve when this heat situation went out, and it was very cold. I told them, "I wouldn't normally say this because I don't like anybody to know that I have cancer, but I don't wanna sit here in a cold house. I can't afford to get a cold with my new system the way it is." So, they really worked hard to get somebody out there. The guy came out on Christmas eve. They were good on that one. Especially, since the whole thing was my fault anyway. It was stupid to watch him come up here and click it seven times and it came on automatically when I was trying for days. This is an old house, built in 1879, so it has got its own idiosyncrasies and I have to just deal with them. But that was my thought. That was not this heating system's fault.

    The icemaker is the only thing they ever fail me on. If it had been real important, I would have pursued it more severely. I'm single by myself, so I just don't want have to deal with repairs if I can help it. I wanna have security that way. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to anyone because it's a good backup to have. It costs money every month but it's worth every cent at the end of the day if something goes wrong. They're a very good company. They've adjusted what I wanted to do, when I want to up my coverage and everything else. They've been very pleasant and very cooperative.

    My washing machine went out. I called American Home Shield and told them that I thought my washing machine needed repairs, and because it was not functioning, the tub wasn’t spinning. They set up an appointment, had Sears contact me to come out and look at the machine. Sears came out, looked at the machine, and then they said that it was not repairable. I called the contact person at American Home Shield and then American Home Shield contacted me and said that because the machine wasn’t repairable that they would replace the machine. They sent me an email and they recommended a machine, but they said I had a choice of choosing which one I wanted. I went with the machine that they were recommending.

    A couple of years ago, I had Choice to come in because shortly after I joined Choice my furnace went up. The repairman came out, he stated that someone had placed the filter in front of the area of the furnace but nobody messed with the filters except me and I knew where the filters went. So, I know I didn’t go in the area of the furnace where it blocked the vent. And so, Choice denied my claim. With American Home Shield, when I had the contract with them, I asked them the question, "If something breaks down in the home shortly after I take out the contract with you, will you cover it?” They said, “Sure.” So, that was difference between the two.

    We've been with AHS for almost a year now and we've used it three times and it's been really easy every time. With our most recent claim, the contractor was on time. Before he left, he made sure that none of the faucets were dripping that he came to fix. And one of the things he showed us was how to fix the issue if we had it in other areas. Like if there was some dripping where we just needed to put some caulking, and he let us know how to do that stuff and where to get the stuff for it.

    I really like AHS. I love the peace of mind of having the appliances covered. I do wish it was easier when I renewed to figure out what was covered and what wasn't. Because when I renewed it, I didn't realize there were different plans and I would've probably upgraded to a different plan. I know right now our garage isn't covered. And with it being the same age as the house, I'm assuming at some point, something's gonna go wrong with it as well. But I did notice AHS does offer that in a higher package. But once I already started paying on the first package, I was like, "I'm not gonna upgrade now."

    Douglas Mechanical came out to check one of my AC units. I submitted the claim online and it took about two days for the contractor to come out because my schedule was hectic. The tech was good and very thorough, but I was trying to figure out whether I should replace the full system or not. They were a little too expensive, so I decided to go with someone else. I also had a refrigerator leak and they only covered $10 a pound. They were trying to charge $100 a pound and I needed to put 10 pounds in my unit. So I would have been out $1,000. I thought American Home Shield covered more when it comes to refrigerators.

    I recently requested for service because my water heater stopped producing hot water. I contacted service department one 2/1/2020 to request for AHS to get in touch with a contractor to come see what the problem was and paid my 75$ fee. However, after requesting from 4 different contractors none of them serviced my area and at least an hour away from where I was located. Apparently because the contractor was unable to service my area the service claim was cancelled and it wasn't until the next day I had called back to the service department I found this out. I was not notified that I had to start a new claim because it was cancelled by the contractor (if my claim was with AHS I don't understand how a contractor can just cancel the service claim).

    My contact is with AHS not with the contractor. It is unprofessional for this kind of situation to occur without the insured being notified. I was finally assigned a local contractor be it too was unreliable with no answer just an answering machine. I called two times every day since I was assigned the new contractor and apparently the service department is unable to get a hold of the contractor but wants me to continue trying. Um no thank you. It has been over a week that I have been waiting without hot water mind you unless I try manually sometimes it works but not always and it takes almost to hours to get a full tank of hot water. Today is 2/10/2020 and my issue is still unresolved. I am going to have to now figure out what I am going to do to get someone out to service my water heater at an affordable price. Wish me luck.     My hot water heater was not staying hot. I wasn’t getting very much hot water out of it or it ran out. I filed a claim online and the website has greatly improved from the last time I used it. I’ve never had a problem using it, but this time, I had options of who the service provider was, which I’ve never had before. They would assign someone that we would get but this time, they assigned someone but they gave me two other options. I've had problems with the previous provider and so I selected Byrd. I had not used their company before, but there were very good reviews so that’s what made me go with that company.

    The plumber, Patrick, came out and he was very thorough. The toilet was clogged and Patrick made sure that there were no clogged lines. If we needed a new toilet, he called in to get a good price for us but we didn’t end up needing one. The job that was being done by them on their end was gonna end up possibly costing us 200 and something dollars but it ended up costing only 60. It was wonderful. They did a really good job for the work that they did. And we haven’t had any problems since then. If we'd have any more problems with plumbing around here, I would love to only use their service and that particular plumber because he was courteous. He made sure not to track in any mud or anything in our house. He brought booties and was prepared.

    AHS would take the order and if they said that they'd call back, that means that you passed it on to them. We've had electrical problems and no one has addressed it. We have two light switches in the hallway. When the company came out and tested them and they were both working. But now, you can only use one to turn the light on. The other one, the light doesn’t come on at all. I've expressed at least four times to four different AHS customer service reps regarding our lighting. They said that there was an issue regarding the 30-day time-lapse, but I did make a phone call right after the issue.

    The electrical company claimed to have called us back to say that they were gonna come out. I always answer my phone if I hear my phone ringing and we have answering machines, so if there’s a message being left on the phone, we answer the phone. So, they never called back to do that job. We still haven’t gotten anyone out here to take care of that incident. I had even told the last person from AHS that I talked to that if I'd have to pay another $75 and we would pay for it. But no one has ever called to set up another job with a different electrical company.

    Sometimes, our heater would be going just fine and then it would not kick on. We have a gas furnace. So, we would notice it was cold and we would go and look at the thermostat and it will be like in the 60s in here. There would be a thing flashing, it will say stage two. And it would be flashing like it couldn't come on. We'd turn it off and when we turn it back on, it would eventually come back on. Or my husband would go up and look at it, maybe open up the furnace cover, and sometimes closing the cover back would make it come back on. It was two or three days and it still hadn’t come back on, so that was when we went ahead and called Home Shield. A guy from Amp Mechanical came and inspected the furnace system. He went through everything and he couldn't really find anything. He said there looked like there was a little bit of maybe dust and he said he cleaned that out really well but couldn't find anything else. So, everything was fine.

    Then, maybe a week later, it went out again. And it was going to get very, very cold that weekend. We were afraid we wouldn't have heat for the weekend. Since it was out, we went ahead and called and they came back out. He still really couldn't find anything. He said it would flash a code and if it's not showing the code, he has no idea what's happening. There was something that he thought maybe would fix it, but it's still been doing it. But it hasn't been doing it with the frequency where it stays off. Now, we've noticed if it is off and if it doesn't come back on for a couple of hours, it would just kick on again. Thank God, it's been working.

    We’d hate to call and then have somebody come back out again and then it comes back on. With the second call, because the first call had happened so close, they said that I wouldn't be charged. I said that if I need to pay something, I would and he said it was still part of the other part. And that's another reason why we didn't want to have keep calling you unless they could figure out anything. The contractor who came out was so professional and nice. He was up there for so long in the attic. It's not warm up there at all and I appreciate it. And everybody I’ve ever talked to on the phone has been so nice and helpful. We are very happy with our coverage. Everything we've ever needed with American Home Shield has been truly amazing. Through our experiences with them, my parents signed up.

    I had a leak in the bathroom and on the shower head. When you close the two double sink faucets in the bathroom, their handle moves, so it is not sturdy. And now, it is starting to leak. When Eagle Plumbing & Heating came the first time, I mentioned this to the plumber and he said that he was able to fix the shower head, which was perfect, but unfortunately American Home Shield would not allow him to fix the two faucets because they were not leaking -- but they are now. It was an issue that was starting already. It worked fine but the faucet was starting to get tough to open and close.

    Then the second time around, my kitchen faucet was leaking and the tech replaced the faucet. It is now working perfectly. The last person they sent out was experienced and super professional. He had been doing this for a while and he knew the ins and outs of everything. He left everything clean when he was done too, so I was happy. He even gave me some tips on how to maintain it and also the pipes under the sink.

    When we bought our house, the realtor suggested that we should get this type of insurance. We have bought four houses since then and we have always added the insurance to the house. I call in to submit a claim and it is easy. Sometimes, it takes a little bit as far as between when I started the claim and having the company that was going to work on the issue to come out and contact me. I work from home so my schedule is flexible.     We have about four houses, my mom, myself, and my sister. I had let mine lapse last year, so I had to wait and renew my AHS in January and it just came effective February. Before it became effective, I had this noise in my air conditioner like it was clicking. I didn't have American Home Shield, so I paid a company 100 bucks to come out and tell me it was a piece that goes in there that the electricity goes out, and it disperses the electricity to the air conditioner and it was shorting out.

    Then I called American Home Shield 'cause it did it again last night. But it was raining, and when the air condition got wet, it started clicking like the connectors were getting wet, but it's a brand-new box cage. I called American Home Shield and I had an immediate response from a company that was gonna come up. I checked the air conditioner and it went on and it didn't make a noise. The lady's gonna call me back tomorrow to see if it does it again tonight and if it's a permanent problem or maybe it was just a glitch because of the rain.

    The people I've been dealing with were fantastic, excellent, on time, and told us that they had to get the parts. They replaced the thermostat and both elements. There was an incident previously that we are still negotiating on, an air conditioner at my mother's house. The air conditioner guy came out and said that he couldn't do anything so he reassigned it to another company. The other company came out, got my mom an air conditioning and put it in. However, he's charging us $1,365 for incidentals like the permit, a pad, and he's making up a few names that I'm not even familiar with so we requested a buyout. They offered us a $1,900 for that one. Overall it was a good service. Very, very pleased.

    We had an issue in one of our houses, where in the washer, water was coming out. A technician came. He changed the part with one of the dials, and it looked like it was okay. But then as we started using it, another leak started coming out. The very first one was huge, we had to sweep the garage, but this other one was a lot smaller and we caught it in time. We called again the Sears men, and they came out. They worked on it. They checked it out, took out the broken part and replaced it. The second gentleman opened up the machine and took the parts out and did all kind of stuff. That seemed to resolve the issue.

    After the second gentleman, we’ve only had one incident where it started leaking. We think it was because maybe we put a little too much in it, too many clothes on it or with sheets and then the towel. I told my wife to just do the sheets first and then do the towels separately. So now, we do it separately. We’re more conscious of it. My wife has been very careful in putting the proper stuff or what we think the proper load is, and it’s been working okay.

    There’s not been any leaks recently. Maybe the machine is up there in age, too. It’s one of those things that maybe you have to be careful in what you put it in so that it washes it and it doesn’t lose the balance. When you put a lot of stuff in it, the container that contains the clothes starts moving around. In the other house, where my daughter lives, we have an incident with the dryer that was old. They’re gonna bring in a new dryer for us. Hopefully, that would work out. I'm happy with American Home Shield. When we call to make an appointment, they come and get the job done. Everybody’s been good.

    I’m really satisfied with American Home Shield. I looked at other service providers, and American Home Shield has a really good reputation, and I’m happy with it. I’ve actually recommended it to a family member and a couple of friends. I probably need to call back but it’s my busy season and I just haven’t had a chance to know that I’m gonna be available to be there.

    I submitted a claim with my furnace not working properly a couple of weeks ago. I got a response very quickly and it has all been very professional. And I was happy with the people that American Home Shield sent out. The contractor contacted me within a couple of hours and were very good with scheduling. Their guy was able to fix it on the first time that they came out, and then we decided talking about it because of the age of the home and the furnace. It was probably a good idea to replace it. And at that time, American Home Shield had a promotion going for upgrading HVAC for half price. That was a big motivating factor because I already had issues with it. I figured it was probably only a matter of time before it was gonna have to be replaced. And so, they replaced my entire HVAC system. They left a little bit of a mess when they did the HVAC, but nothing major.

    I also contacted American Home Shield because the air conditioner had problems too. They got someone out very quickly and the guy did a great job. I have been very happy with American Home Shield. I have had them since I purchased the home in September and I would want to know about expending my warranty with them.

    The thermostat was not working right. I called American Home Shield and they took care of everything for me. I was told that in 24 to 48 hours, the contractor would contact me, and they did. Super Air came out and everything was satisfactory. One thing that bothered me was they took out the thermostat and the one they put in was a different size. And for some reason, there were two fasteners in the wall and they told me I had to pay them.

    We had a dishwasher issue one time and the guy who came out for AHS from Dad's Appliance did a great job. He was very courteous. We also had a door lock issue and AHS' contractor came and fixed that as well. With our last claim though, we were having trouble with our fluorescent lights in our basement. We submitted a claim to AHS and the gal who set up the appointment had a thick accent. I was pretty sure that she was from a call center. She said my claim might not be covered but I said that was fine and that I would pay anyway.

    That message did not get transmitted to the electricians who came out for AHS. My wife took the techs down and showed them the problems. They said the issue was the ballast and that they don't cover that. They said goodbye. I paid $75 for that visit. I gave up on American Home Shield and purchased new LED electric lights from Home Depot. We will have a private electrician install them. We're not planning to renew with AHS.

    We had an issue with a hot water heater and a stopped-up sink. It wasn’t working and it was old. It had rusted and it was leaking, so it had to be replaced. I called AHS, and I told them what was wrong, and they sent All American out here. And the bottom of where the hot water heater was, it had leaked down to the floor, and so the floor had to be replaced in that area. However, the wiring wasn’t covered under the warranty, so I had to pay for it myself. I had a problem having the money out to pay for the installation, and the contractors gave me time to get my money together, and then they came out here and they fixed it. Everything is performing well now. When I needed something done, AHS did it and they did it expediently.

    I had a lot of trouble replacing my dishwasher which was totally worn out, broken, unrepairable and ugly. It took quite a few weeks to get that done. It was back and forth and back and forth like they didn't want to replace it. They wanted to repair it. I also had to replace a garbage disposal. It was rusty and it jammed up the part where we could get it to release. Some of the internal parts also broke. The repairman tried to loosen it, but couldn't, so we just replaced it. He was here for about 45 minutes. Bang, bang, bang and he had it done. He was a very young guy and knew what he was doing. The same guy fixed the broken on/off switch on my washer. It took about five minutes to fix it.

    About five years ago, AHS replaced one part on my air conditioning. Then I also had my microwave replaced. The people who replaced it were very efficient. They had that thing out of there and replaced in about 30 minutes. Generally speaking, if you could stay away from calling on a weekend when you’d be dealing with somebody overseas, then people are very direct and get to it right away. However, they use a couple of companies that hire only Russians. People from that area are tough to deal with. They're not very polite or courteous. I don't like to have those repair people, but the others are very good. The last three people I’ve had have been excellent. Generally, the repair people AHS sends are very good and they're all local. And I like that part of it. I've been a member fo a long time and put a lot more money into it than I’ve received, but it's good protection.

    I submit claims over the phone and find Home Shield's customer service to be good. When our water kept getting very cold and wasn't getting hot, Waldorf Plumbing came out, looked at it and said that the heating element was burned out. The tech took it out and showed it to me, and it was old, rusted and ruined. They just put in a new element for us to make the water hot again. It's now working perfectly. Also, we had someone come out to look at our refrigerator and they were good. They replaced the element in our refrigerator because the freezer part of the refrigerator kept getting warm. The freezer is working out on the refrigerator.

    My furnace was not coming on so I called AHS and got into an automated system. Later on someone called back and said Douglas would be the contractor. He came right on out. He isolated the problem, located it and fixed it in no time at all. Douglas was one of the few contractors that I was very happy with that came out here. I haven't had not one single problem with that particular furnace again so far. I've been with AHS for a long time, and I've had two different contracts with them. They are good at covering things up to a certain point. I've had a couple of claims where they didn't cover what I wanted them to cover. However, they did settle with me on those particular claims. I would recommend them.

    We had no hot water, so we checked the water heater. We tried to light the pilot over several times, but it wouldn’t light. So, I submitted the claim on the internet on behalf Eupheme and Svetlina. Their website was easy to navigate through. It was five minutes worth of work and it was done. Then, I had a phone call within an hour saying, "We're gonna come out and check it out." Keyliam, the contractor, deemed that the water heater was leaking so badly that the pilot couldn’t even stay up. It was all wet on the bottom, so it needed to be replaced. They’ve charged me $800 some for some things that were not covered like new piping and new tubing. American Home Shield, nevertheless, provided the water heater through the contractor. Since they have been out, the water flows better. It is a little different but it is great. We have hot water and we can take a shower now. Overall, this warranty company is excellent.

    We needed two new springs. I assumed that was a part of the garage door opener. So, I ended up having to pay double. I had to pay my insurance to have somebody dispatched, and then we had to pay Smokey’s Garage flat out. I should have just called Smokey’s Garage first because nothing was covered under our insurance. I was frustrated because that wasn’t made very clear. But that was a life lesson for me. The other situations I've had with American Home Shield have been good. I was just very disappointed with this experience. Otherwise, we’ve been very happy customers.

However, it sucks that when you use their website to do a claim, it gives you some choices about what's wrong, but it doesn't allow you to type in any description at all. It says like, "Hot water heater, no hot water," which was not accurate. It had some hot water, just not enough. So, if it has given me even a tweet's worth of characters to describe the issue, then I would be a lot happier.

    When I called in, I heard from the contractor within 40 minutes then 20 minutes later on the same day, they were here for my heating. Within an hour and a half, they were all done from the time that I placed the call. That was very quick. They were good too. The first time I called in for something though, nobody called me for a week and a half. My daughter called her son who is in air conditioning and I had to pay him instead. The second time I called in, I went two weeks waiting for a call. They never called me. When I called AHS again, they gave me a plumber guy’s name and he knew it right here.

    There are two outfits I won’t use again but I'm still gonna renew with American Home Shield, just in case. I'm in my 80s and I can’t do too much. We just bought the house in March and to get a plumber up here will cost us a lot more than $25. The house is old and I don’t know how bad the pipes are. We’re also buying a new air conditioner because this one is old, and the rest of the stuff on the list, I'm gonna leave on there and just go with that.

    When I closed on the house a year ago, the home warranty service that was in the closing was incorrect. So, I went almost a year thinking that I had no coverage with American Home Shield and I actually requested a different company. I realized about a month ago that I actually did have service with AHS once I got the renewal information. AHS saved a lot of money on me because I did the locksmith thing, the plumbing thing, all kinds of things out of my pocket that I shouldn’t have had to pay for.

    When the AC started making noise, I said at least, we would have one thing that we could use the policy for. The contractor came out and identified the noise. It was minor. He checked the systems and said everything looked good. He did his job based on his contractor responsibilities and took care of what I needed that day. I went online to file this claim and I paid the $75 online. But there needs to be more clarification of what that $75 covers. It’s ambiguous. If I would have any other services, there would have had to be a quote. Their contract is lacking and so is their policy for the service fee. I felt like having not used ever the service, I couldn’t even get a contractor to check it out for nothing. I could have paid that and not have the contract and have somebody come out there. Basically, it was worthless to me in that regard. The Home Shield experience wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t as good as it could have been.

    For the five years I've been with American Home Shield, usually, the problem is repaired, and I'm not left not knowing. I have these three big spots in my dining area that I thought were water spots. They just appeared and they were as dry as the rest of the ceiling in the house. It was so odd. I called American Home Shield to send someone out to look at the ceiling and see whether or not there was something leaking.

    The plumber arrived and checked it out. He said that was not water and it looked like somebody painted up there. He said if it was water leaking, the ceiling would be soft. I really think it was coming from my toilet up there. But he said he didn't think so. He did find the pipe from the faucet in my son's bathroom leaking. But that wasn't the cause of what we were seeing downstairs. He went on and fixed the sink. He didn't fix the problem, but he did something. He said he will recommend somebody, someone who does house repairs but I haven't heard from that person yet.

    I had called on a Wednesday morning and when they said, “Well, they have 24 hours,” I thought that would be 24 hours, not 24 hours of work time. When they hadn’t called by Friday morning, I called and talked to somebody and then another one. That was Reliable Mechanical Services and they just had a little glitch that time so they couldn’t get out here. So, they called, came out, and diagnosed the problem.

    I had two people come in the same time. One went down on the basement and checked on the furnace. It’s supposed to be a two-stage furnace and it wasn't doing the two-stage but he said that it was. I had him check some other thing when I was there and he took care of whatever my concern was. I probably shouldn’t have been concerned, but my husband died last summer so I’m concerned about everything. Also, it was the main one of my 2 air conditioners that went out, and it was when it was 90 degrees and I was having guests come. So, they had to get something and American Home Shield wanted them to wait to ship the thing from wherever they shipped it from to Bloomington on a Monday then they could come in on Tuesday. I had a discussion about it and they allowed the guy in town to pick up one from town on Friday, and they came out on Saturday and put it in. So, it was really wonderful and I’m a real fan of American Home Shield.

    I’ve had the program for a long time. I was also a realtor and when people bought a house, especially young, first-time homebuyers, and it was a resale property, then my gift to them was to buy them an American Home Shield policy. I got upset one time because they were doing something for my house and I looked it up, and I had purchased 32 of them out of my own pocket. A lot of times, it went through closing and I didn’t have it so they let me do whatever I wanted them to do. So, I’m happy with them. Unfortunately, I am selling my house and whoever buys it, unless I really get beaten up, I will extend the home warranty that I have and let them start out with it.

    I was smelling gas from my heater before. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Greenway Home who was good with our stove before. This time they had to do three visits with three different guys to get it right. There may have been three different bad places on my unit. The third tech from Greenway Home came on a Sunday night. It was cold that day but he made it. I was so glad 'cause that Monday was gonna be freezing. He worked on my unit and picked the right spot where the gas leak was. So far, I'm smelling no gas.

    I was having a problem with the heating. The thermostat kept saying, “Malfunction. Call a technician,” and the heating wasn’t working. I submitted a claim for it online. Usually, I can get through the website pretty well, so it’s not a problem. It tells you that they’ll contact you in less than 48 hours, and they usually do. Home Service Experts came out and they’re still working on it. The technician that they sent was knowledgeable and he seemed to know what he was doing. He took care of the problem, at least, because both of the systems went out. He fixed them, but then the one upstairs went out again. So, I’m waiting for them to come. He said he was gonna contact American Home Shield himself and let them know and then he was gonna call me back. I will definitely recommend American Home Shield. I've been with them for about 15 years and when I need something, they usually come through.

    First, I used AHS three times since I bought the policy two years ago. My first two events came at the same time soon after getting coverage. Range hood lights would not work and fan made noise and my ice maker went out. Ice maker was fixed the day after the technician came out for the range hood and that went very smoothly. But the range hood guy showed up and immediately tracked mud across my living room floor (which I took pics of) and had a very grumpy personality from the minute he walked in. He took the cover of the range hood off while I stood there. He was on a step ladder and I was on the floor. I could see a metal box with wires coming out but I could not see any of the interior from where I stood.

    The tech never opened the electrical box or even inspected it. I thought that odd as it was obviously an electrical issue with the lights. He took pictures of the interior with his phone and informed me he would have to return with a helper because the unit would have to be completely disassembled in order to fix the fan and lights. I took his word for it and the next day when I spoke with AHS they informed me that it was denied because the tech said bugs had shorted the circuit board out. I got a step ladder and took the cover off and looked myself and there was no circuit board exposed to see. I saw there was a dead roach inside the unit. I called the company the tech came from and asked what the ** was going on?? They repeated what AHS had told me.

    I told them I had looked myself and there was nothing electrical exposed that he could have seen because everything was sealed. No way he could determine a bug caused the problem. I told them their tech was a liar. They emailed me pictures of the dead roach and said that was the problem. They charged me $100 for this non service and I was furious. About this time my neighbor stopped by and he offered to look at it. He opened the box up and within five minutes he pulled a piece of metal that opens and closes when the fan is on to seal the vent. A spring had broken and the flap made the noise. He removed that and looked in the box and found a fuse had blown. I had fuses in my garage and he put in a new fuse and all worked fine.

    Total time to troubleshoot and fix was under ten minutes and this guy was just my neighbor. I fought to stop payment on the sevice fee and after jumping through hoops, disputing and many phone calls finally did get a refund. I kept the policy due to the ice maker issue went smooth. A year later I had a leaky toilet and that was fixed quickly and right. I have switched to another company because AHS keeps going up on my monthly payment. I'll be trying their competitor out and time will tell if I made a mistake or not.

And there was no record on the website of what the status of the claim was. It showed things like this claim was completed, but it wasn’t yet. The website was not in line with what was actually going on.

    A1 took over a month to get dispatched. It took the initial three days for AHS to find somebody, and then, they scheduled it a week out for the initial service visit. The guy came out, diagnosed it, and said that they would have to come out and complete a repair on the unit for a heat pump replacement. And then, it took another three weeks before someone finally came back out with the heat pump and replaced it. Since they’ve been out, everything’s been functioning. The only thing is in the wintertime, I was able to go out and buy space heaters for me, my kids and my wife. But in the summertime, they don’t make something like that to cool your home. So, if this had been in the middle of the summertime, my home would have been not livable for an entire month, which would have been unacceptable. So, I wasn’t too happy with that.

    We bought this house in August and all of a sudden, my kitchen sink was backing up through the disposal. I could turn the disposal on and it would pump it all out and in a minute or two, it would all come back up in both sinks. I panicked and I called AHS. I told them that I had problems with the disposal pushing things out and it was coming up in the other sink. They took the message and we had company coming on Friday.

    My husband and I got to looking at the sink and decided it was not the disposal. It was the drain pipe that was clogged up. So I called AHS back because I hadn't heard anything from anybody. I asked them to change it to plumbing since it was not the disposal after all. I also explained to them why we needed it right away. I just wanted to change it from the disposal repair to a plumbing repair.

    Two days later, we still hadn't heard anything and we couldn't wait any longer and we couldn't stand the smell and the stuff that had come up the sink. My kitchen is right off my great room. So it was definitely obnoxiously stinky. My husband was really upset. So he got into the sink and opened the P-trap and let out all of that crap out of the sink. So we had a mess under the sink and on the floor, which we cleaned up. We still hadn't heard from a plumber. So we called a local plumber and they sent out somebody on Thursday. The trap that opened into the garage off of the kitchen was old and they had to replace some of the parts. The bill was 260 bucks. So it was over with and we had the sink cleaned down and the under the sink put back.

    I took pictures of the truck, the guy repairing it, where it was repaired and under the sink and all that stuff, and I sent the pictures with the explanation to the company, and I have not heard back from them. We got it repaired and I sent copies of the receipt from the plumber and all. But I haven't heard a thing from that claim. AHS should acknowledge that they got the papers and settle the claim. I was hesitant to call AHS for the second time 'cause I thought that we were gonna get into this situation again. But this time, it was wonderful. Busy Bee Appliance was prompt and their technician was very pleasant. He explained things as he went and he had the appliance working fine.

    We had a drainage problem one time and the water wasn't going in. Our toilets were broken as well. I submitted a claim to AHS and they sent a plumber to my house. A day after he left, I started having a leak in my ceiling underneath my toilet. When I called AHS and explained my situation, AHS said that because the leak was coming from the vent, they would send the AC guy first to check that the leak is not an AC problem. I told them that the AC is turned off and that we might need to call a plumber first. The rep told me not to worry as the AC guy would tell them the situation and that I don't have to pay again. I told him that I didn't wanna pay two times if the issue was not with the AC.

    They sent the AC guy who didn't last 10 minutes. He asked if the AC was off and I told him we were not using the AC. He tells us that the issue was not an AC problem and that there was no water going in there. He said the leak was probably a plumbing problem. So he talked to American Home Shield and explained the situation. I called AHS back and asked we could have a plumber. It took them three to four days to have a plumber come to the house and I started having damage to my wall. The leak never stopped and by the time the plumber came, we had water in the wall. He came in and it was a quick fix. There was a pipe that was broken in my toilet. When he fixed that, the leak stopped right away.

    It was January 10th when they sent me a plumber on January 17th somebody else came in. I got a message saying "Thank you for using American Home Shield. Your job is complete”. But then, it's not. I never heard from their plumber again and I'm sitting with a ceiling with a big hole in it. After that, I looked at my bank statement and I see there's $200 of withdrawal on my account. So, I called AHS back for them to fix the hole that was caused by the plumber for me and for the $100 that they needed to refund to me. There was no authorization from me to withdraw that hundred. I've been with AHS for two years now and they have time to fix my problem. If they fix it, I'll be a happy camper.

    After I sent in the claim for my freezer, Sears called the next day. It was fairly quick. They told me when they would be there, and they were there the next day or so. They didn’t make me wait long. It was a reasonable amount of time. The tech was very professional and he was knowledgeable with what the problem was. He did a very good job. He took take care of my problem. He ended up changing the evaporator in my freezer portion of my refrigerator because water was collecting underneath the vegetable bin and in the vegetable bin.

    I also had American Home Shield when I owned another home over 10 years ago and they were good then. But there was a particular time when my HVAC system stopped working and they didn't send the same technician out. They sent a whole new contractor, and I wondered about their sobriety when they were in my home. They told American Home Shield that I reached in and pulled the wires out. But that wasn't true. So when I replaced it, the technician who put in the new HVAC said the wires had melted. I tried to get American Home Shield to send somebody else to do it, and they said this was void. They wouldn’t wanna do it. They said that I had stuck my hand in and pulled the wires out. But other than that, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield since I've owned my house that I have now.

    Emerald Pools was supposed to fix the pool. But then they found out it was a little more than they’ve been out for. They didn’t do what they said they would do. A few of the tiles fell out and I thought the guy was gonna replace that. I told them that if they would replace, I have the tiles that fell out and they could just put those back on. I also told them not to take it all, they should use it. However, the guy removed all of it and I don't know what happened to it. He said that he would do the tiles for about $600 and I was satisfied with the price. Now, they moved all the tile and haven’t given me anything that they would do. The guy was going to replace it with a larger tile and the whole thing was just wrong. But I’m satisfied with Home Shield and I've been with them for about 10 years now. We were just happy with it.

    For my plumbing issues, 3 out of the 4 calls have been excellent and the one call that was not great was a long time ago. Gator Drain came out recently and they were great. This was the second time that they’ve been out for the plumbing. I work about maybe 10 to 12 minutes from my house, and they alerted me in enough time for me to meet them there. They were right on time and took care of what needed to be done, which was our toilet that had a small leak. It was very quick and professional.

    I also had AC issues and the AC guys have been good as well. The only issue was the guys were sourced from far away and it was like, “Oh, I’m worried about my carbon footprint. There’s tons of people here in Gainesville, why did you have to drive up from Ocala?” And that is about another 40 minutes away. Still, they did an excellent job. Then, I’ve actually had an electronics issue that was resolved really quickly also. So, for the 12 years I've had American Home Shield so far, I don’t have too many complaints as far as the contractors go. Most of my repairs have been rather straightforward and everything’s good.

    I had to take everything out of the refrigerator right before Christmas because it would not cool. We were gone for a while and then came back and plugged it back in. It still wouldn’t cool and was growing molds in there. It was terrible. I had this $2,000 machine under warranty for five years.     Discount Contractors came out to repair our garbage disposal after I submitted a claim to AHS over the phone. I called AHS on a Friday and Discount was at my place by Monday or Tuesday. That was a very reasonable timeframe and the techs who came were courteous and professional. They were super. I know I can find something cheaper than AHS but what won us over was that I didn't get a hassle about my three appliances that were not repairable. Once American Home Shield had honored everything that they said, I didn’t feel right going to some other company. I have already recommended them to my folks. There was a time when one of their contractors got so backlogged it was crazy. Still, AHS gets better people to do their contracts. I really appreciate that.

    We got American Home Shield when we moved here. I put in a claim on 16th of January, and they hired O'Connor. O'Connor came out the next day, looked over the furnace and told me what was wrong with it and that it needed to be replaced. They went back to their office and researched it. They called me back and told me it had to be ordered because of how old it is and it would probably take a week to get in. Then they had problems with delivery, so it delayed it even more.     When I file a claim, American Home Shield assigns the contractor that day, but they don’t usually call till the next day. The contractor that came out for the heater was great. He was kind and courteous, and it was a great experience. However, American Home Shield sent out another contractor for my pool heater who was absolutely terrible, unprofessional, unethical, dishonest, you name it. I'm having to fight for a second opinion and I've been dealing with the issue for a week and a half. I'm not too happy having to wait a long time on the phone. I feel like American Home Shield is just trying to avoid covering the repair the best they can. So, it’s not a great experience.

    Total Air Care came out to look at my air conditioning that wasn’t starting. They put in a new blower motor and they had to come back out and reduce it. They, however, left grease all over my wall and I had to repaint it around the thermostat. And then, on the outside condenser unit, they pulled wires out of the inside of the condenser unit and zip tied them together. But instead of tucking them back in the condenser unit, they are still sitting exposed on the outside of the unit, where they don’t belong. So, I’m not happy with their service.

    American Home Shield, on the other hand, gave me $50 back for the hand prints all over my walls, but it doesn’t fix the wires that they’ve got stuck out on my condensing unit. It looks horrible. It's good to have a home warranty, but if you’re picking the bottom of the barrel contractors to do your work for you, that is representing you. So, right now, my feelings with American Home Shield is the same as Total Air Care because that is who they chose as their contractors to send into my home. And it’s not like it’s hidden -- you can go on Total Air Care’s Google reviews and read all the negative feedback and comments. They don’t have a lot of good reviews out there. So, why would they even hire that to represent their company to begin with? The work at my house is done cheap and shoddy, and looks like it is rigged together now. I don’t feel confident in the work and I don’t feel confident that this unit’s gonna last.

    I prefer to submit my claims over the phone and the customer service reps are great. They are very nice to deal with. Someone was sent out to replace the auger in my ice maker. We had to wait for a part, which took about a week, but the tech knew what the part was so that was easy. For the second claim, Precision Garage Door came out within two days to replace my garage door opener. So, the contractors that American Home Shield sent out have been very nice and professional. And I’ve recommended the home warranty to many people already.

    My dryer wouldn’t turn on and there was no power to it. American Home Shield sent out 3 Boys Appliance Repair and they were really nice. They came out twice and it was two different people.     My refrigerator was acting up. It was slightly tilted to the back and if there was any moisture or whatever dripped down, it formed a block of ice. The technician that came couldn’t figure it out. So, he took the whole bottom part apart – trays, freezer, all the things out. And he finally found the block of ice. He succeeded in melting it, breaking it up and taking totally back in the bottom part of the freezer.

    He said that if it does that again, to make sure that it is leveled and not change the position of it. The young man was very professional. The refrigerator has been working fine and so, thank God for that. We were right in the middle of the fact that my husband had just passed away, so a new refrigerator breaking down especially when you have people over was not a good timing. I don’t like paying 100 bucks each time though. Other than that, I was very satisfied and I recommended American Home Shield several times. Also, the technician that AHS sent to attend to my stove was very cautious about not invalidating the warranty on it, and that was good.

    My appliance claim with American Home Shield went really good. I had to make an adjustment just because I’m only up in the property a few days out of the month. They turned me on to the person that was coming out. They were cooperative and their guy showed up on time, did the repair work, and was quick, courteous, neat and clean. He took the appliance apart and showed me what was wrong. He told me it was a good machine, and only a couple of things could be wrong. He showed me how it could have worked if you put a screwdriver down. But the switch broke, so he just repaired the switch and off he went.
