It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee.     I went online to file a claim when our HVAC went out. The AHS website was very helpful and easy. When the techs came to service the unit, they were not late and they were very professional. There were parts that were not covered under the warranty that we paid out of pocket for. We're going on our second year of having Home Shield and we've been really happy with it so far. We also have a refrigerator that we need to have serviced so I'm planning on submitting another claim very soon.

    I called AHS many times for my heating problem. Sometimes the furnace has heating and sometimes it doesn’t. True Master came and was okay. The guy was super nice, however, there was another company that came. The guy told me that if it was cleaned, it would be fixed and asked $200 for that. He said that the insurance wouldn't cover it because the problem was that it was dirty. But after he cleaned it up, the problem was still there. It seems that he lied. Now, because I’m so busy, I have no time to call AHS back so the furnace still doesn’t work.

    I have a friend who told me that AHS was a really good warranting company and if something was broken, they can repair it faster. But right now, it doesn’t. Before, I would have recommended my friends to use AHS, but right now, I won’t. I've had them for about three years, but I decided that this year I probably won’t get insurance from them.

    We've been with American Home Shield since 2010 and for claims, all I do is make the phone call and tell them what the issue is then the agency would notify me and schedule a date and time. It's very straightforward and professional. I've used them twice and everything went well this time. It was a doorbell issue. The doorbell wasn't working. Wester Electrical was sent out and they were able to help quite well. The guy had to come back the second time because he had to order the parts but he was very nice and cordial. He took care of the issue with no problem.

    I wasn’t happy with my previous home insurance and I just purchased a new house and got AHS. I like American Home Shield's customer service. I like the fact that I can actually talk to somebody. I sent in a service request online and they sent someone within a couple of hours. The contractors were very much about business.     Lately, it usually takes a while to get somebody to the house when something happens, but it wasn’t that way when I started using them. I have been a customer for about four years and it was usually two or three days. Now, it’s usually about a week and a half, at least. It took four weeks for someone to come out for my disposal. It was two weeks booked, but they had to cancel the first schedule because they had some people that were sick. But when they came out, they did a great job. They fixed and put a new disposal in. And it's working wonderfully.

    The guy from Silver Star Appliances was very professional and fixed the problem, and also made suggestions about getting the ducts cleaned. He was pretty thorough in what he did. He came right in, looked at the issue, checked everything, fixed it, and left the house. In the beginning, my mother had American Home Shield and was pretty satisfied with it. They were good in getting things done. I got it but I dropped it because I was not satisfied with it. And then I decided to give it another chance. So far, it's been okay. The only thing is once I did the claim the first time, the system set me up with someone who I did not want and it wouldn't allow me to change it. Then when I called to speak to someone, they said they couldn't do anything about it. It's just how it comes up. So, I waited almost six months before I called again about the same claim. I threatened to leave and I should have left but I didn't.

    American Home Shield sent Appliance Works for an appliance claim. It took forever to get the unit but it had nothing to do with Appliance Works. They did their best to get me installed, but they couldn't get it. It was backordered. Appliance Works did a great job. I was really pleased. They stayed in touch with me once they had the unit and made sure that the timing on putting it in was good. With this particular installation, they could've used two people because a microwave wall unit is a very difficult thing for one person to install. And if it had just been my wife here to receive them, she wouldn't have been of any help. It took two people to hold it in place, but that was okay.

    When I first started the service back in the spring, I had called up, wondering if they sent people out to do a furnace check. And I knew that wasn't a replacement item. At the time, that wasn't my issue. I'd gone through the winter and I just wanted to have the furnace checked, and I never heard anything back. And then when I called the next time, they sent an air conditioning guy. I told them that was not what I requested. But whoever was in the office that day was probably thinking it was May, and they were probably thinking, "Well, we ought to be checking their air conditioning, so let's send an air conditioning guy." I just gave up. I didn't do anything until November. I wasn't pleased with the initial customer service people.

    American Home Shield sent Holiday Business Group for an appliance issue. It worked out fine. I didn't know the little piece was stuck up in the air which was causing the water not to come out, so it cost me $100 for nothing. That was what they charged me for a tech visit. So it’s not even worth it, I think, sometimes to even have American Home Shield and call somebody out at $100 a whop. I haven't had to use you it much, and this is the third time I had to use it for the washer, but I pay $100 every time a tech comes out. They are a little bit expensive on their service.

    AHS has put us in touch with some really good people. Our furnace was making a funny noise and we called American Home Shield to see if there was something wrong with it. Choice Electric was out within the next day. The tech had to fix some things that weren't covered under the plan but he did all the work to our satisfaction.     My house was built in 2003, and I'm a single mom. I knew that things were gonna start wearing out that I couldn’t do the work myself, or it might be costly. I have two friends who have contracts with American Home Shield, and they recommended it. I called them, spoke with someone who walked me through everything, and it sounded like a really good program, so I signed up.

    They have the claims process set up very well and it goes very smoothly. When one of the elements on my hot water heater had gone out, the service was very quick. It went very well. The gentleman who came to do the service work was very polite and thorough. He showed me the part that was broken and replaced it, and everything has been great since. He was in and out in less than an hour too.

He gave us some tips on how to clear out the vent in the sink so there wouldn't be snow and resolved the situation. We've had American Home Shield since we bought the house a couple of months ago.     The water wasn’t going all the way down our toilet. It took four days for Greenway Home Services to come out to the house and take care of it. But the guy was great.     American Home Shield sent Del's to repair the icemaker, refrigerator, microwave, and the washing machine. The technicians were very nice. They let me know what they were doing pretty much and inspected everything out. I'm getting new appliances because there's something wrong with them, but everything is fine.     We’ve had a home warranty program since we bought the house. It’s currently a value added proposition. AHS should not have the service be quite so expensive but most of the time we haven’t had any big issues. We had a washer that went out recently and it was replaced. Other than having to wait a little longer than we had anticipated, it was fine. For the most part, it’s pretty routine.

    The dryer was not heating and Schubert’s Appliance Repair came in. For the most part, submitting the claim was easy. My husband typically is the one that takes care of it but this time AHS called Shubert’s pretty quickly. They scheduled it, but my husband had something and couldn’t come that day. They didn’t have any problem rescheduling it till the next morning, though. Schubert’s was always easy to work with.

    A customer for 15yrs, call with a complaint and I get hung up on. On the morning of 2/18/2020 we woke up to a hot water heater failure and water running out the safety pipe. I immediately went online to American Home Shield to report the issue and was assigned a local plumber. Not having any hot water, I called the local plumber's office and was told I was on the schedule for the next day. I explained the situation but nothing. Was not going to speed the process up. So I stayed home from work and the plumber arrived early. He looked at the hot water heater and told me what I already knew and explained he had to file a report and it would be 24 hrs. That was totally unacceptable to wait an additional 24 hrs with no hot water and no real promise the hot water heater would be replaced in the next 24 hours.

    I called American Home Shield to complain and was told the same story. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to one and she could not change the process and I would have to wait the 24 hours for the plumbers report tp be processed. I asked for a refund of the $75.00 service fee as the plumber came out and looked at the hot water heater and told me what I already knew. She could not authorize a refund and I explained nicely that I wanted a plumber today, or a refund of the service fee and the cancellation of my policy. She said she had to transfer me to the person with authority to do that, then she hung up on me. I called back and the exact same thing happened again. I will file a BBB report and splash it on social media. Oh by the way I called another local plumber and he is scheduled to remove and replace the hot water heater within the hour. DO NOT USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD.

    I placed a call to get a gas cooktop repaired when it stopped auto-igniting. The repair was scheduled promptly and the tech came as scheduled. The diagnosis was a faulty switch which the tech said he would order and have shipped directly to me in a day or two and when I received it to call back and arrange the installation. After not getting the part for almost a week, I called AHS back and they said they would investigate it. The next thing I get is a voicemail that the part is no longer available so they can rebuild it and take 6-8 weeks or get $147.50 - the cost of the rebuild option. I called back after a quick web search showed the part available and asked if I could order the part and then have the repair company install it. I emailed a copy of the information to AHS as directed.

    A week later I get a text that the matter is now complete - when they never even got back to me. So I called back and was transferred several times after being on hold each time for a while. I asked about having the part I found installed and they said I could but they would only reimburse up to the rebuild cost. So I asked if the rebuild option would leave the entire cooktop out of service or just the one burner associated with the switch being rebuilt. They said the entire cooktop would be out of service for 6–8 weeks.

    The AHS website specifically states: “What if I have an appliance that can’t be fixed? If we determine your covered appliance or system component can’t be repaired, we'll offer a replacement or suggest another solution.” They said the replacement is not being offered because the part can be rebuilt, I just need to be inconvenienced for two months. The actual contract says “F. 3X3 APPLIANCE PLAN NOTE: AHS will pay up to three thousand dollars ($3,000) per Covered Item malfunction for access, diagnosis, and repair/replacement of any covered Appliance. 4. RANGES/OVENS/COOKTOPS COVERED: All components and parts”

    So AHS is offering less than 5% of their stated replacement cost because that is their cost to rebuild. With that logic, any part would be able to be rebuilt given enough time, so AHS would never have to pay for a replacement. Their lack of responsiveness and misleading policy on replacements shows that AHS is not customer focused and uses deceitful practices.

    I’m a baker and no matter what temperature I set my oven on, it would only reach about 50 degrees less than that. So, stuff wasn’t baking good. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield through their website and it was easy. The communication was fabulous. I got text messages, emails and the service tech that came out was fabulous. He explained everything very well, what he was doing and why he was doing it. Since then, my oven works great. When I preheat my oven, it gives me a timer of how long it’s gonna take.     At my age, I prefer filing a claim over the phone than online and so far, the customer service representatives I've spoken with have always been nice. Patriot Plumbing got back to us and they came out quickly to fix our toilet. The seal was bad. They did it very nicely and they got it done quickly. Some years, we don’t have to use American Home Shield, and some years, we do. But it has been good to us. I have recommended it and I’ve had people sign up.

    I’ve got a few rental properties and I’ve only used American Home Shield with those. They do a good job and they’ve always followed through. A long time ago, they didn't have a service company in my area. They contracted through Sears. Sears called me and said that it would be a month and a half to get the thing done. I called American Home Shield back and told them that and it wouldn't work. They found someone else to come out and do it.

    My rental property’s a high-end one and most of my stuff is 1,000 to 2,500. If something goes wrong, I want it taken care of quickly because the people are paying a lot of money to enjoy the house. Recently I had a microwave issue. I couldn't believe how quickly the guy from Appliance Fix showed up and got right on it, gave it a good diagnostic check, and was on his way. He was very efficient.

    I called up AHS' number to submit my claim. I gave their rep my account and their contractor contacted me that day. However, there was a problem initially because the guy they sent said he couldn’t do it. AHS sent an air conditioning company which called me and I told them that my issue is not air conditioning. Instead it was a vent in the bathroom to the outside just a few feet away. The air conditioning company called back American Home Shield and this time A1 Electric sent somebody who took care of my issue in 20 minutes. I was very impressed that he had the right fan and that he just replaced the whole fan and motor. So far, I'm very satisfied with AHS. I had a good experience with their contractor this time. I travel for a living, and my wife is home a lot of times by herself. The warranty is great for her because she just calls me, I call American Home Shield and they send somebody out. Then, I let her know when they’re coming.

    I called American Home Shield for a toilet that was broken and had an excellent experience speaking with their rep. Their contractor's service was subpar though. They had to come back several times. They had to order a part and I had to call them again and again. They could've done better with their communication and explaining, like, if a week runs, they could've let me know that they are still waiting for the part. Nevertheless, everything is working fine now.

And they said that I needed a new part, and they ordered it. And when they ordered it, they came and they put it in. The contractors were good. Everything's been fine since then. My experience with AHS has been fine. I never had a problem with American Home Shield. I had a problem with one of their contractors though and I told AHS to never send them here again.

    We've had AHS for over five years now and submitting claims through AHS has been pretty easy. I can pay in advance and they will schedule a date for repair, and it’s good. I typically call when I submit claims and the reps have been friendly and helpful. Most of the contractors are good, too. I’ve had one or two contractors that just tried to take advantage of the system. But for the most part, I had pretty good contractors. Recently, I had a water leak, and Prime Plumbing Services came out and fixed it.

    AHS came with the house. I've had it since April 2017 when I did the closing. I like the fact that when it’s an emergency, I don’t have to wait.     Our toilet was leaking everywhere. I filed a claim with Home Shield and the techs were scheduled to come three days later. But we had some health issues at our house so they weren't able to come for about a week and a half. When they came, they were great. They were very helpful and professional. We also had an issue with our 16-year-old dishwasher and the techs replaced a part that cost $400, which to me was crazy to spend $400 on a part that's 15-plus years old. But that's what AHS wanted to do and they didn't wanna replace the dishwasher. Having a warranty seems expensive and $75 seems like a lot but I always recommend home warranties to my friends when they buy a house.

    We got a couple loads of laundry and then we set another one in. Then we went to get groceries and when we came back, the tub was completely full of water so we had to siphon it out. At first, we were trying to see if any other settings would work but it wouldn't spin and drain so we ended up contacting Home Shield. I got set up with Advanced Appliance. They contacted us to set up an appointment to evaluate what the issue was ut they couldn't accommodate me on the weekend and that was the only time that I'm off. So I had to get my father-in-law involved. The tech came and spent 30 minutes to an hour and decided that it was the pump. The part had to be ordered and was gonna take about three to five days. Once the part came in, they scheduled me an appointment for the following Monday. The entire process took about three weeks and from there, everything was good.

    We've got a four-year-old who gets dirty playing and is in and out of clothes. I also work in a dirty environment. Washing clothes is very important for us and not having the washer which is the start of the laundry definitely put a damper on our day-to-day. So having it fixed and having it done promptly as humanly possible was very helpful.

    All the service that I've had with Home Shield has been good. Our house is 16 years and when we purchased it, we had a warranty that came with it for the first year. We looked around to find the best bang for the buck and AHS definitely fit the bill when it came to all the amenities as far as what it covered. Also, it had some of the best reviews that I saw. I would recommend them and would say that my experience with them has been fantastic. With the price point of $50 a month for the number of things that we have covered and the $100 co-pay, it's well worth it.

    The fan didn't work. I'd flick the light switch and sometimes the light would turn on but more often, it wouldn't. I even tried to change the light bulbs and it didn't work.     We had a washing machine that totally stopped working. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield through their website. It was an easy experience and they've done a great job. I got a text message from American Home Shield, and then I got a text from the contractor. Gaige Appliance Repair got there on time, within the time slot, and they were professional and dependable.

    We had to replace the machine. The contractor told me that to repair the machine would be super expensive and that they would get back with American Home Shield. American Home Shield then sent me an email that said they were going to replace the appliance. They offered their selection of what they would pay for and said that if I wanted that, we could just order it and it wouldn't cost anything. Or I could go onto this website, find what I wanted and send them the information, and they'd give me a price on it.

    So far, my experience with American Home Shield has been great. We've had really good results. They get right back to us. There have been a few times when I emailed and they haven't called back. But they've done what I've asked them to do. It was weird though on the washing machine. They were waiting for me to say whether I wanted the pedestal to go under it or not. I didn't want the pedestal, I didn't ask for it. A few days later, I got a call and they said my machine was in, wherever they ordered it from. And they're delivering it tomorrow.

    Two years ago, my refrigerator quit working. In Arizona, you can't go very long without that running because it gets very hot here. Valley Wide Appliance was sent out and the tech looked at the refrigerator for a total of about 15 minutes and said that I needed a new compressor and their company doesn't do compressors. He said that I had to call American Home Shield.

    I called AHS back and nobody was available for two weeks. I couldn't go without a refrigerator for those times and I was going out of town so I just went and bought a new one, had it delivered the same day, put everything in it, took the one that wasn't working. The delivery people were great. They put it in the garage for me. I got back from my vacation and put in another service request. Felix Appliance came out and the young gentleman said that I didn't need a compressor. I only needed a relay switch and he had that with him. It took him about half an hour and he had my refrigerator up and running. But I went out and spent $3,600 on a new refrigerator that I didn't need. Then when I had a plumbing issue, they sent Loyalty Home Services out and that service tech was excellent.

    Recently, I placed an order to have my white microwave repaired. First, I did it online until it popped up that it was gonna be Valley Wide Appliance. I called to cancel that and it was a rigmarole. I said that I'll pay outright before I'll have them at my house. AHS had another company that has worked on my refrigerator. I requested that company and they said that they couldn't do that. Then AHS sent out this other tech from Hughes Appliance that looked at the microwave.

    Here's the thing that ticked me off. I asked if there was any possible way that they could get it fixed by Friday, I would be so appreciative as we would be having a huge party on the 8th. The guy just looked at me in my eye like, "Oh, a party, huh?" and said, "Okay," and walked out. They turned in a request which was on February 4th. I didn't hear a peep from anybody until the 9th of February. But I looked at my email on Monday morning and that service request has been cancelled and assigned to a new person. I called the number and the contractor couldn't come out until Friday the 14th. They were very nice and told me exactly what I knew what was wrong, the computer board. But here we are, the 19th, and I still haven't heard from anybody. In my own opinion, AHS needs to drop Valley Wide Appliance and Hughes Appliance.

    American Home Shield is not living up to their reputation in my eyes right now. This is the first time with the microwave and it's been a nightmare. Somebody should at least send a text or email that says they're looking into it. They should also have a little better follow-through for the order to be cancelled and reassigned to somebody else. They have performed in the past, but they're definitely falling down on the job. They know I'm not happy with them right now and I'm coming up for renewal, so I'm kinda like, "Hmm" 'cause I know the fee is gonna go up.

    I had two issues and online just let me have one, so I made a claim over the phone. The reps were okay, but it took too long for the contractor to come out, which was about five days. My toilet was leaking and the drain in the kitchen sink would fill up every time I turn the water on. The contractor said it's because the drain on the sink is small and I just have to turn on the disposal more. I never had to do that before though. That issue wasn't fixed or addressed.     There is a problem in the claims submission process because you're trying to explain exactly what's going on to the individual behind the phone and sometimes they're not understanding the immediacy of the problem. I had a slab leak coming out of the garage but I guess it was not clear to them that I had an active leak. So they contacted a service that called me the next day, which was a Thursday, but they said they would come out on Monday. I couldn't continue to let that water just continue to leak though. I contacted them and asked if they could come out sooner. But they said no. They said I had to go back to American Home Shield because they're the ones who requested it and they did not put in a priority ticket. I was like, “You gotta be kidding me.”

    So I had to contact American Home Shield back and then have them submit a second ticket, which was more a priority, more urgent one. Then they finally changed the plumber and I got another plumber that came out the next day – Immediate Response Plumbing & Rooter Service. There was a little difficulty on that particular issue but otherwise, the Home Shield reps are easy to get ahold of.

    Now, I also know that Home Shield won't take care of two issues if you've only told them about one issue. If I have two plumbing issues and I only tell Home Shield one, when the plumber comes out and I say I have another plumbing issue, they would tell you they never got knowledge of it. That’s kinda silly. You got a plumber out there so they should be able to take care of both problems. I also had a handle in the kitchen that I needed tightened. But they did go over and did an assessment of the handle in the kitchen and they did take care of that for me.

    Home Shield did not cover the slab leak though. When the plumber came out, they took a look at it and basically told me that the slab leak was not covered. I guess it wasn’t a normal wear and tear issue. I wasn’t too pleased about that. But American Home Shield does provide a service if needed. Once you have experience in working with them then you get a feel for what they need and what they're asking for. It gives you a better perspective as far as what to do.

    I placed the claim on the website and within a few minutes, the tech from ABNation was calling to get everything fixed. One of our circuit breakers was popping and had a crackling sound, which scared us, so the tech came out and replaced that. Also, every time we turned the pool on, it was leaking water and he found that there was a leak over by the pump itself on the side of the house so he fixed that. And then our chlorinator wasn't working. We have a saltwater system and the salt wasn't turning to chlorine. But the tech said that that part was not covered under our home warranty. So, he told me what to order and we got that ordered. We know the pool liner needs to be fixed. This is a new house for us and so the pool liner is going to have to be replaced, and we know that's not covered. But it looks like everything is up and running properly.     I went through the website to submit a claim for my toilet which was running. I’ve had problems with other people’s websites. But with Home Shield, I've had no problems with. I put in a claim and within that morning, they called me within 15, 20 minutes. And it was that company that came in and did it. It was a simple fix. It was just running and the guy just replaced a part. And then, something else happened where they replaced the toilet or something. And there were some other plumbing and we haven't had any problems with plumbing. The plumbers have always been good. They’ve come out a couple of times for other things, like AC or heating issues.

    However, every time that company came out, they always tried to sell me on something more. They had sold me things that I probably didn’t need. Always tried to sell me on a new unit, a new AC, this, that and another thing. So, I dropped the contract because they were expensive. But then, we sold our house. It's closing in two weeks, knock on wood, so we’ll terminate our Home Shield home warranty at that point. But when I tried to call to terminate, they came and said, “Oh, there’s another month. You gotta pay another month," a $57 termination fee, which is kind of funny.

    And then, we had one or two issues with the heating. Something went on and they came out and the guys fixed it right off the bat, and they didn’t try to sell me on something. So, when they came out through the Home Shield, I haven't been subjected to hard sell as much as when I had them directly hired as a company. They were trying to sell me, “Oh, you gotta buy this, you gotta buy that, da, da, da...” I’m like, “Well, I just want this.” And then they come out for one thing and they say, “You gotta do this because of --” and I know I have a older heating system, so they sell me on something else. So, even though something’s covered by the contract, I've always paid more than what the contract needed. I always went over and above what the contract was. Other than the plumber, they’ve sold me on something more than what I needed them to come out for.

    This process has been fine. Whenever I needed something, they came out. It’s expensive contracts because I pay the $75 deductible and I'm not sure if I'm getting $75 worth of work sometimes when they come out. They came out with the AC last summer and they replaced the condenser. And then, they sold me on something else in addition to what I needed so, it cost me another 150 bucks. But now the AC is running pretty good, which is fine because it’s old, and they’re keeping it alive for me.

    The pilot light with the furnace wouldn't light. I made the call, and then I had them contact the tenants so they could make an arrangement for the contractors to come by. I don’t like the contractors to communicate with the tenant, only me. I’ve had American Home Shield for years. I’ve never had a problem, that they don’t talk to the tenant too much, only between me and them. This time, I noticed that it was a little different, but I just said I would just make sure I reiterate it from now on. Other than that, the contractors seemed to be okay. The furnace is doing great now.

    A claim was denied one time. I just took that in stride and kept moving. Sometimes, it’s like that. I got American Home Shield for the convenience of it, not being surprised by a huge payment. I’d rather pay a monthly payment, and if something happens, just pay the service charge. That way, I’m not getting hit with a huge bill at one time. That happened years ago when I got a plumbing issue at a rental and the total bill was $685. I was still covered under American Home Shield so I just paid my 75 and I was okay.

    Universal 1 Repair came out to look at our washer and dryer and they were out twice after that, because two different employees found another part that was required. So from the initial assessment, there was an additional part for each, both the washer and the dryer, that were needed. They were very informative, very professional and they have been a pleasure to work with. When they said they were gonna be there for an hour, they stick to their word. They have not been at my house for more than an hour and a half, which has been fantastic.

    I typically submit claims to AHS through online. Their website is good. Although last time, I had trouble submitting a claim. I tried to submit it and I had to refresh the page and start over. Other than that, it’s easy to maneuver. I’ve had past experiences with other technicians that really questioned the quality of the technicians that were coming to my house. But recently they’ve been great.

    American Home Shield is better than others where the technicians are great. They’re effective and very professional. Their customer service reps have always been very helpful, letting me know about the services and when technicians are coming with all these notifications. So that has been helpful. There has been a few incidences where I can’t say that, but overall, it went well.

    I had a bad leak so I had to shut my water off. The washing machine was leaking all over the place. I submitted a claim online and found the website to be great, but it wasn't specific enough. For instance, it just says leaks. It doesn’t say where or what kind of leak, if it’s clear or not. It has the instruments like it had washing machine, and then it had leaks, but it doesn’t say who, what, when, and where. After I sent in my claim, the contractors were supposed to respond within 24 hours. They usually do, except if something happens on a weekend. Sears' service was outstanding. The tech explained everything, what was wrong, and how we would go about fixing it. I'm extremely happy.

    We pay monthly to Home Shield and if we have a problem, we call them. We've used them four times and the people have all been good. I've had plumbing issues here and there and everything has been okay so far. Last time, one of our bathrooms had some kind of leak and the guy who came was awesome. He fixed the stuff and then he left. My only problem is that when someone comes and they say that we have a different issue, they don't address that. That should be a different claim and every time a tech visit, we pay $100. Other than that, the guys come and if they don't fix the problem, they will go buy something, come back and fix it.

    So far, I've had to call American Home Shield twice and both times, they’ve been very good at doing exactly what they said they would do. The claim with A1 Sewer and Drain went wonderfully. Everything was done in one day. The supply line to the water heater had a shutoff valve on it and the housing on that shutoff valve had actually broken. So the pipes needed to be cut and replumbed. Everything worked out perfectly. The guy was very professional, very nice and right on time.

    The heating system was making noises when it was trying to turn on. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and Hansen Mechanical called us the next day. They were very quick. It took us a few days to a week before me or my husband had time to be home with a repair person. But that was our schedule, not a problem with the company. Hansen Mechanical said that it was a blower going bad and they replaced it.

    The American Home Shield account was listed under my name. We've had them the whole time they had computer requests. When we just did it by phone, they would always take down what number we wanted to be contacted at, and that was correct. But since we’ve done it on the computer, they ignore what we tell them on the computer and just give the companies whatever phone number’s first on our account. They don’t bother with what we put on the repair request. We get the message, and then we have to call them back and tell them to talk to them with our cellphone instead of our home number, which is a very annoying process. And we can’t delete it. We’ve tried going onto the account and deleting the home phone number and just putting the cellphone, and they won’t take it.

    A gentleman from Service Plus Repairs worked on my oven because it wouldn’t get hot. I was contacted within 48 hours after I called about the claim and was told when they would come out. So, the guy came out and identified what was wrong. He told me that I would be contacted when the parts come in and he would come back out and install. He came back, fixed the stove, and did very well. My stove is working now.

    I always have a good experience with the American Home Shield representatives and the contractors contact me within 48 hours via text or email. The home warranty is a very good product to buy and I would recommend it for homeowners who have appliances because they will break. I’ve had it for quite some time and it’s been a lifesaver for me because I’m covered when major repairs for air conditioner or hot water heater come about. Make sure to get American Home Shield because there are a lot of copycats out here that may not give you the service that you really need or may not guarantee the parts and the areas of your house that you really need covered.

    Updated on 02/21/2020: Follow up to last complaint. Nothing has been done and I’ve not been contacted. This company should NOT be in business. A vendor relation person called me today and didn’t care about the damage to my home as a direct result of the plumbing leak that has not been addressed for over thirty days. I now have a ruined hardwood floor because of failure to provide service according to THEIR contract. By the way the vendor relation person actually hung up on me.

    Original Review: Place a call for plumbing leak and appliance repair Jan 10, 2020. Two weeks later appliance guy shows up in a battered old truck, no uniform and missing tools. It’s now Feb 20 and have heard nothing about getting parts and finishing repair. The work order for plumbing was given to a vendor on January 27, 2020. I’ve never heard from them and now the leak has permeated my 3/4” hardwood floor and it is buckling.

    Called AHS today and spent 45 minutes trying to speak with someone in United States. Then called the sales line as that is in us. Spoke with customer service, explained situation and first thing told to me was ahs doesnt cover secondary damage. There would be NO secondary damage if call was handled properly. I was then told ahs did their job by finding plumber and assigning the work order. We were never notified as to who the supposed plumber and still don’t know. Then I was told the issue was being transferred to vendo relations and I should hear from them. My appliances are not fixed after 6 weeks, NONE of the plumbing issues have been LOOKED at let alone fixed and I now have a hardwood floor being ruined. Worst company and customer service I’ve ever dealt with.

    This is a bad experience I have ever had with unprofessional attitude from Budget Rooters. I had a problem with my Water Heater that was not producing Hot water, reported it to American Home Shield for repairs. They referred the work to Budget Rooters. They called me and made appointment 5 days upfront. The Technician came and diagnosed the problem and told me he's going to Order the Parts. On the day he ought to come and fit it with Parts, he called me early in the morning to let me know that the Parts was not available and Water Heater's model is no more in production. He suggested that if they could not find the Parts, he would suggest complete new Water Heater Installation.

    I was out of Hot water for 2 weeks, and I decided to look for alternative and got SMUD Rebate for $3000 to change from Gas to Electric Water Heater. It cost me $1200 out of pocket expenses. I called Budget Rooters to confirm if they have gotten the Parts and they said NO (not yet) and the woman who answered my call on the middle of our conversation hanged phone on (so Stupid and Rude & Arrogant). I submitted my Invoice of $1200 for Refund to AHS and got only $132.50 for the price of the broken Parts which not available nowhere. All are Fraud way of cheating people.

    I have been with this company for over 2 years, finally needed a new heating element for my AC. First company misdiagnosed, so they sent out another for which they wanted to charge me another $100 service fee. This went on for 8 placed calls over 6 weeks in the cold weather. Every time I was told that the second contractor had not gotten back to them and that they would contact him and then me. They never called me back. Today I cancelled my contract with them, and they wanted a $49 administrative cancellation fee. PLEASE do yourself a favor and save your money!!!

    I went online to file a claim which the response was very quick. The tech came out Monday and you could tell he was bothered to be here. He went on to determine the blower motor was out in our furnace and would submit it to be approved. After 9 days of no heat and many attempted phone calls I called a local company on my own to repair my furnace which he did with a blower motor for 385 in less than 3 hours and that was returning to the shop to get a new blower motor. After which 13 days later a different tech was sent to my home after the repair was already done by a local shop. I am out 455 dollars for a repair that your guy refused to do for us. In a time frame that is completely unacceptable.

Aside from the dryer where their contractor came and fixed it, I've had a freezer claim as well. Their claims process is easy. You just go online and do it.     I have had AHS for a number of years, and I have not had any problems with them. I call them out to check my air conditioner in the spring or the fall or if it doesn’t seem to be running that great. I have had them out when my dishwasher was having problems. Then all of a sudden last week my washer started making loud noises (wouldn’t you know it would start after I stopped paying Sears for the appliance protection). So, I called AHS about it, and a technician was sent quickly. He asked what was wrong with my washer when he came to my home, and all I had to do was spin the drum. He said I needed a new washer.

    Soon after that AHS replacement team called me. They sent me an email to look over washers to replace mine. All of the washers that I wouldn’t have to pay for that were supposedly similar to mine wouldn’t fit in my closet. I would have to upgrade! I spent all weekend looking at washers, so on Monday I called back to AHS. I didn’t understand why I would have to pay more for a washer that was smaller than what I already have?!?! They told me to look at Kenmore washers. So I hung up and did that, then I called back with the model # of one.

    Now each time I am calling I am having to wait 30 minutes at least before a representative gets on the line. The next representative that I talk to tells me that she can’t find that model number, she doesn’t have time to wait on the line for me to look up another washer, and I have to wait on the phone when I call again. Well I thought she was very rude!! The next guy couldn’t find the next model number I gave him and he gave me some other websites to look at, so I did.

    I called back with yet another model number. He said that wasn’t in their database either. He said to look at a few different brand names and to call back with like 10 model numbers. So I call back with 7 model numbers (that’s all I could find). He managed to find 3 out of those 7. But now the prices were different from what was online. I got mad! I told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor! He said his supervisor gets off at 6pm. He would send a message for her to call me. I don’t anticipate hearing from her.

    While I was on hold I looked up a model on the AHS website. When he came back on the phone, I gave him that model number. Now he says that price was different. It was higher than what the AHS price was!?! Why I ask?? He says, "Because we go by the price in our database." What!!!??? This is the price on your own website!!! I was on the phone with them for 6 1/2 hours today!! I got nothing accomplished!!!! I still didn’t get a washer ordered!

    When you file a claim online, AHS texts you with a meeting time or an appointment. It works perfectly and I love it. Moreover, contractors have been very professional and friendly. But I'd like to see a lower deductible. When there was a part missing from the fridge's door, I filed a claim. The contractor came and fixed it. And when three outlets in my kitchen stopped working and were not getting any power, the tech came out three times. The first time he came out, he fixed it. But two days later, it stopped working. The second time he came out, it miraculously started working on its own, then a day later, it stopped working. He came back a third time and then he went out to look at it for the third time. He took it all and tightened all the wires.

    When we had no hot water getting to our shower, the person I talked with to file a claim was polite, understood what my needs were, and gave me the information I needed. I was told that the contractor would contact me within the next 24 hours. The contractor called me within 12 hours. I was given a window of time that he would arrive and when he got there, he told me that they normally call and let you know they’ll be at the house within 30 minutes. But I never got that call so I took off work at noon whereas he didn’t show up until 4 o’clock. Had I known, I would have been still should at work until 3:00. However, the service was right on the mark. He got to work right away. He was quick, efficient and knew what he was doing. He explained the shower knob's internal guts were not turning to let the hot water come in like it should. Since then, things have been awesome. My daughter said she has never had such a nice hot shower.

    I've heard good things about having a warranty and checked into it. It was like insurance for your house like you have for your car. I've been with AHS for about three years and having the policy is reassuring. The ease of being able to call in a work order and get service right away is a positive experience overall. I don’t worry who to call if something breaks down and how to know that you’re getting somebody who is not gonna rip you off.

    There was a hole in one of the pipes. One of the toilets was leaking as well. The guy from SWAT Plumbing came out and was very helpful in explaining exactly what the issue was as well as answering all my questions. He was thorough, timely, courteous, and let me hover over his shoulder to see what he was doing to learn myself, and he wasn’t annoyed by that. He had to find the leaks and the first time, it took him about 45 minutes to do that. The second time, it was about the same time and then about five minutes to fix those. So far, so good. I’m still waiting to hear back from the water department to make sure that all the leaks have been taken care of ‘cause they needed a day or so to let it recycle again. But there’s no more visible water damage or leakage. This is the first time I’ve had any experience with AHS. As long as the price doesn’t go up considerably, I will be fine with staying with them.

    We had our meter replaced and the kid from the city that was out here changed it but did not turn the hot water tank on so we didn't have hot water for 2 days. I've never dealt with gas before, and so I didn't know what to look for. I called American Home Shield and the first person that they gave me did not service hot water tanks. I was given another person that would do hot water tanks. I paid AHS the money and the guy came out here and all he had to do was to turn the pilot light on. Nonetheless, the people from Plumb Genius were good.

Nobody told me the limit (five) before that but I know the cost of the plan was much more expensive than other houses. It's based upon square footage so you could assume that larger square feet houses have more doors. If there's a limit on the number of locks, that doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Also, we just moved in and I called last night for a couple of things. We have mice so I found out that pests aren't covered then the central vacuum isn't as well. In interacting with the agents, their English was really poor even though they were reading directly out of the content. They couldn't read some basic English words. I let them read through it because I figured that was practice, but they were really struggling. It's like they were sounding them out as they went along and it didn't give me a lot of confidence. I appreciate everybody needs and wants a job, but they can use a little more English-as-a-Second-Language training.

    I've continued to use Home Shield for the fact that it's not that expensive and when I need stuff to get fixed, it gets fixed and fixed right. I've had a hot water heater replaced and I just got my dryer and microwave fixed. The dryer had a burnt-out motor and it was a lot less expensive than spending $700 or $800 on a new one. I've also had my garage door opener fixed at least twice. With the microwave, I had a broken handle and VP Appliance Repair came out. They took down the model and serial numbers and went and ordered the part because they didn't have it. They came back a little less than a week later and they had the part. It was one of those where it was cheaper to pay the $75 than it was to buy the exact same part on Amazon for 85. Then, two screws later, it was all fixed. They did a good job. They were here on time and they were professional.

    The only thing that I noticed with submitting claims online was when I did the microwave, they gave me a list of choices and then other. But then it didn't give me a chance to explain what other was. I could have given the model and serial numbers for the handle and told them it was a handle that was needed so that they could have had the part with them the first time versus having to make two appointments. It would be nice if they have an area where we can be a little more descriptive on the claim part. Other than that, everything else was quick and easy. I get text messages, notifications, and everything else so that all works real well. Somebody gets in contact with me within the day from me submitting the claim.

    I'm happy with Home Shield so far but I’d be happier if the price didn't keep going up. It started out at about 48 a month and now it's almost $60 a month. But for what I’ve used it for, furnace repairs, hot water heaters, and the whole nine yards, I'm glad I have it because I would have spent a lot more money getting them fixed any other way.

    I did a little bit of research and it showed American Home Shield to be the top home warranty. I had a spring in my washer for my clothes that broke. So, when it spun, it dangled all over. I called AHS and they had within 24 to 48 hours Fidelity Appliances come out and look at it. The serviceman told me it was a broken spring and that they would have to order it. It came in on a Tuesday and it was put in on a Thursday, and it works good. The contractor was very good. I was very satisfied with AHS. If for some ungodly reason I have to use them again, if I get the same service, that is who I stay with.

    I was having problems with my dryer. The claim started off with me calling AHS and the contractor sent out to the house did what he could do. But it went beyond what AHS would pay for. The contractor was very nice and polite and I was very happy with him. He introduced who he was before entering and he had his little towels and his little thing for his shoes. He took pictures of the site before, showed it to me and told me what he had to repair. He went to work on it and then he showed me the after pictures. He fixed the dryer and then he found out that the issue was with the vent, whatever is going on underneath my house. He presented me with a card and told me to call the vent people, which I did.     Every time I called in for service, it was easy for me. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was professional. I’ve used them before.     My initial request for the claim was for the dishwasher and the washing machine. They replaced the washing machine because the parts were going to be too expensive. However, what they offered me to replace my washing machine was not even enough money for me to buy a new one. I do not like paying my money for insurance like that when they are going dictate to me on what they are going to give me versus what my money can buy. With the dishwasher, on the other hand, the same mechanic came out because the it was not mounted correctly. He mounted it right and after he did it, that was when I went to use it. I then learned that there was about a one-inch puddle of water left in the inside because it did not drain properly.

    So, when I noticed it did not drain, I called in and did a claim, letting them know that after the mechanic came out, that was the way the machine acted up. The tech from Calvary Appliance Repair said something about the drain line being clogged up and he fixed it. He was very professional and helpful. Since the repair, everything has been working well. However, I do not foresee myself having American Home Shield much long. I pay $50 a month for four years and all they are going to do is to offer me $400 on a washing machine. I do not pay that much on a washing machine. Also, when I call in for a claim, they do not get to us until a week and a half later.

    Central Heating and Air came out on a Friday and they got it running that day. But that evening, it cut off. I called the next morning and reported it. I did not get confirmation back. Normally, I would've gotten a confirmation back from AHS immediately that a part would be ordered and would be passed on to the contractor. On Sunday afternoon, I called back. There was no backup person available on a weekend. The customer service person said that the contractors could be out on Monday. I asked for them to be out before 12:00 because I had to leave no later than 12:00.

    I told the rep that I was sitting in a cold house. Then she offered the possibility of a reimbursement for either having to stay in a hotel because it was cold or a heater up to $125. Based on that, I purchased a heater. It came out to $85 and I followed the instructions and sent the receipt in. The guys came out at about 10 o’clock and they got it up and running. They turned it off, tested it on, turned it off, turned it back on a few times. I had someone come in and the house seemed okay. This is the second year with American Home Shield and I have not had good experience in the past. But this recent one was a very good experience.

    I had AHS send someone out in the fall. The first guy said that it was just the metal bar inside and to give it a while. Essentially, the manufacturer left a part in. I thought, "Let me keep trying it.” Then I thought, "Is once a week really all that bad for it to be leaking?” I then thought that it was.     Sometimes, the process of AHS works, sometimes, it doesn’t. It’s miscommunication somehow or another. Last year, my furnace went down in the dead of winter. It took them more than seven days to find a repairman that would service a boiler. They sent three different contractors out in one week, and when they got there and found out it was a boiler, they said, “I don’t know why they even sent me. I don’t work on boilers.” I finally had to wind up getting a friend of mine that runs his contracting business to come out and repair my furnace. I had to pay for it out-of-pocket, and then they reimbursed me sometime later. I thought that was not very good. I almost dropped AHS then.

    And then recently, I had my washer worked on. The guy came out and put a bearing in it. The first time I used it, it sounded like an airplane taking off and like there was a bag of nuts and bolts in the spin cycle. He said to shut it off immediately and to not use it. They'd send somebody out. The technician came out, looked at it, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

    Then it leaked water all over my floor and ruined my floor. And then I found out AHS doesn’t handle secondary damages. So, I complained to the billing department about it. The first time I asked them about that, they said they'd split it with me. And I said, “No, that’s not good enough. I pay a lot of money every month. This is wrong.” So, then a supervisor said they would not charge me the $75. This was Friday and then Monday, I looked at my bank account, they charged me the $75.

    Then after my washer ordeal, the guy that worked on my washer said the water leaking on the floor was coming from my supply faucet. Both my faucets were leaking. So, I called AHS up and made another claim. They sent two plumbers out that didn’t do faucets. And finally, when they did get a plumber out, he was from over a hundred miles away. That’s not cost-effective. That’s wasting our money that we’re paying them for our warranty service, which in turn drives up our prices. They said that was the only one they had. I had water running all over my floor for two days. And I called them and told them that. And they said they had expedited it. It was expedited for one day, the next day I called back, they said, “No, this is just in regular. There’s no expedite.”

    So, after they fixed that, I had to call the guy back out. He took my washer all apart, and he said he couldn’t find anything. So, I had to call back in and tell them I needed a recall. The owner of the company that sent this one gentleman out, came out. He took my washer all apart, he was here for an hour and he determined that I needed a new washer.

    Yesterday, the appliance department was very nice to me. They worked with me really well, and they actually even found me a washer that matches the one that I am replacing color-wise, and the name brand, which he told me doesn’t happen. They don’t do that. But it just happened to be the washer that came up that matched all the specs.

    I’ve had AHS for quite a while and I pay 66.99 a month. And that water was running down on my floor for two days, so I had to replace the whole floor. And I thought that was pretty sorry that all I got out of it was $75, and I still haven’t even got that. I think it should have been a reactionary call immediately. They should have been able to find someone. It’s not that hard to replace a couple of faucets. I probably could have done it myself, but I didn’t wanna have to mess with that being that I have AHS.

    American Home Shield sent Home Service Corporation to fix our furnace. It started in October. They came out after two days that I filed the claim. They said they had a lot of calls. The guy said he had to replace the sensor and left. And then things were going off and on. And then we finally just went on and called back as the weather got colder. This time it didn't take long. The person said that it was something with the sensor again and it still didn't fix that past Friday, so then, I called back again this week and he came back out.     When there was a leak under the sink in the kitchen, I filed a claim with AHS. It was the weekend so I did it online. It was very easy and I've had no problems every time I’ve used it.     One plumbing place AHS sent out were kind of jerks. Our water heater was not working and it took them four days to come out, which was not cool. We told them that and they said that we just gotta wait. But they were able to fix the water heater. And everybody else has been wonderful. We've been with AHS for about five years and they've been very prompt. Submitting claims have been very easy and sometimes, we get a response from whoever they assign it to within a half-hour. AHS does an outstanding job in customer service. Overall, they're excellent and we always recommend them.

    The AC was screeching and it was really loud. I didn't realize that it was running nonstop, but we couldn't get it to stop. We were using the heater, so I didn't know that that wasn’t supposed to be on. A guy from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came over and with us telling him what was happening, he knew exactly what it was. Apparently, there was some button that was supposed to go off but it was stuck so it never went off. He replaced the part and everything was working fine 10 minutes afterward. He showed me the part that was bad and what he replaced. He was here about 15 minutes and he got the problem fixed. He was awesome and everything’s great. I wish we did it two months before, but we didn't. We're going on the third year on our coverage with American Home Shield and everything that we’ve claimed has been taken care of in a timely manner.

    My heater wasn't working for some reason. I submitted a claim with AHS and they assigned May Heating & Air to my claim. I called the day them to make the appointment and they came roughly the next day. It was late that evening but the tech made it. He said it was just a circuit breaker, so he flipped a switch and my heat was working.

    I have American Home Shield for over two years now and so far, they've done my refrigerator, my garage door, a dryer, a washer, and my air conditioning at one point. I've been satisfied with customer service and I've had no problems with them. Every time I've called and voiced my concerns about a particular issue, they were quick to respond. And when it came to me canceling service orders, they were quick to assist me and not charge in my bank account for the service fee. The customer service and the folks I've spoken to were very helpful, too. They weren't overly technical with their explanation on things so it was easy to understand. Also, I started off with Home Shield for a year then I went to another competing warranty company and they were just god-awful. I went on and satisfied the terms on my agreement with them then I went right back to Home Shield.

    In submitting a claim, you have to make a phone call and tell them what the problem is. They then arrange somebody to come out to your house and fix it. There is no paperwork involved. It takes a day or two for somebody to come out and the contractors that they use know what they are doing. They are quality people. The person from Quality Appliance Service showed up on time. He corrected the problem in my refrigerator and I haven’t had a problem since.

    The only time we had problem getting somebody here was when it was an air conditioning problem and there was a heat problem in the whole community. Everybody’s air conditioners were out, so it took a while to get the part. But, other than that, you can’t fault the person for that. That was a few years back and the air conditioning runs fine ever since. They have also replaced my stove and washing machine with quality products. I've been with American Home Shield since I bought this house, and I recommend them to people.

    Heart Broken.... My water heater busted some time between Jan 24th and Jan 25th. I called AHS as soon as I saw the water gushing out. They said I had to pay the $75 before they can have a technician come out to inspect the water heater. I asked if they had a way to contact their contractor for assistance in shutting off water going to my heater and they said there was no answer. I then scrambled for the next 30 min trying to figure out who to call and how to shut off my water (nearly impossible at 8am on a Saturday). I finally got a hold of someone from their contractor, they informed me there was no one that could help due to no technicians in that day (thank God for neighbors that could help during my crisis). This was all just the beginning of what I feel is awful customer service.

    Their contractor came on Monday Jan 27 to look at it, literally took a picture and left. Took days and my initiative to contact both their contractor and AHS before I could get an exact answer on what the modifications are that would cost me an additional $475. I was being bounced back and forth between their contractor and AHS for 2 days. Between that time, we noticed lifting of my wood floor not 1 spot but 2 very large areas. I called AHS on Jan 3 to report the damage that was present. AHS asked me to have their contractor to inspect to see if it was caused from the water heater because I didn't have an additional $75 for a new request claim. On Feb 6th their contractor came to install the new water heater and informed us that it was caused from the busted water heater.

    I called AHS on Feb 6 to inform them that Their contractor inspected and stated it was caused from the water heater, the lady on the phone gave the whole, "Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that, let me look into this." 10 minutes later she said that it is caused from "Secondary Damage". I informed her of my contract and what was pitched when sold to me, she put me on hold for another 10 minutes; when she returned to the phone, she stated it is not covered because she read my contract. I continued to ask her how it is secondary damage, she was quiet for a while till she finally said, "Well it's not secondary damage."

    At this point my frustration was through the roof with all the bouncing back and forth, not having hot water with 4 kids for 13 days and damaged floors in a result of AHS not having that extra mile customer service. In total I spent over 40 minutes between her lack of clarity and waiting for the manager. I worked for Audi as Customer Service Representative for 5 years and never have I had a client crying and yelling just asking for some help.

    I am in tears writing this because instead of them having a thorough inspection and stating from the beginning, "We are not going to cover the additional damages for XY and Z" they gave me the run around with no real explanation. I am now scrambling trying to figure out how I am going to fix my damaged floors that should have never became this bad. If I could post photos I would. After the water heater was installed I asked for an itemized receipt, it’s been a week and nothing.

    I had a really good visit with Jessie. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I really appreciated his time and patience. I had an issue with the ceiling fan and I submitted the claim online. But American Home Shield's website is not the most user-friendly. For example, when I do certain things with my HVAC, American Home Shield usually picks some random company. But my system is zoned and I usually need Air Temp to come out. So I wish there was a way where if you had a really good experience with a particular company, that it would give you the opportunity to communicate that so that that company could come out. Because I’ve had issues with respect to that in the past, and they sent some company out that I’ve taken a day off work, and then the company comes out and said they were not familiar with the zone system. And then American Home Shield ends up having to come out.

    In some instances, their contractors were really good. This particular time, Jessie was amazing. He showed me what the issue was. It was one instance where he was on a ladder, took a picture, and he came down and told me what the deal was. I really appreciate the contractors where that’s the case. When I had an issue with plumbing, I found that there was a leak under the sink, and the guy told me he didn’t see anything. I had the garbage disposal replaced but it leaked even more afterwards. It was so much leaky stuff that my kitchen cabinet collapsed. I’m trying to figure out how to get that addressed, and then in the bathroom, it leaked and leaked and leaked. I talked to the guy about it, and he said he tightened something up and then it leaked some more. I ended up paying out-of-pocket to have somebody different come out. But the leak ended up damaging the cabinet and my floor, and I still haven’t gotten that replaced.

    If I have a certain quality of item and something needs to be replaced, I’ve had to go out and purchase the same quality because American Home Shield was only gonna put in their base model, which is not usually acceptable. That happened with the ceiling fan. The guy told me that American Home Shield was not going to replace the quality of the fan that I have. He added that he had them on the truck and that it’s a base model white with the two lights.

    I went to Home Depot while he was disconnecting the rest of the stuff and bought a new fan so that he didn’t have to come back out. He was still doing everything when I came back and he installed the fan that I purchased. So I paid out-of-pocket for the fan because I don’t want American Home Shield to just give me something that is not the same quality. American Home Shield should at least honor the value of the quality of what is being replaced. Overall, American Home Shield is helpful from a certain standpoint, so that I have some coverage. But some of the people they send out are sloppy.

    My claim with Fast Response Heating & Cooling went pretty well. The heat is working perfectly now. At first it was just blowing cold air. The tech came, did what he had to do and left. It didn’t even take him 30 minutes. He had to pull something out, clean it and put it back in. He also showed me where the air filter goes because the people who owned the house before me had it renovated and when they sold this house to me, they didn’t tell me anything. I never even knew where to put the filter in. The tech pulled the filter out and it was dirty. He said it was another problem. I bought the house in December and the filter must have been in there way before December.

    He did an excellent job. He had good customer service too. I asked him a few questions and he was able to answer those questions. He had also come a little early because he had finished up the job. So it worked out fine. As far as American Home Shield, the customer service was pretty good as well. They put the claim in and got me somebody right away. It was great because it was cold and we got tired of putting on five blankets to stay warm. I don’t like getting cold.     The oven wasn’t working. Lilian was cooking something and it started heating up. And then she turned it off and it seemed the oven was still running for a while that they couldn’t disconnect it either because it was really hot and they couldn’t find the outlet to it. They never put it into their heads to turn off the breaker. So, they just turned on the fans and opened the windows. And then she knew that she had the Home Shield insurance. So, she called and let them know. 3 Boys Appliance Repair then came out and checked it, and they told her that it was giving her an error on the oven which said, “Call your Samsung with this error.” And then the guy figured out that the error code meant that it was the cooling fan that needed to be replaced.

    The contractor took three weeks to get back because they had to order the cooling fan, and then they fixed it. They checked it before they left, and they turned it on and saw that it was gonna turn on to the actual temperature of 375 or 400 degrees to see if it wouldn’t turn off because every time they would try to turn it on to 175, it would turn back off. Also, they were very clean and professional. They just came right to what they needed to be here for, and they did their job. Lilian hardly turned the oven on, but she used it just to make sure that it was working correctly, and it did work. She preheated it first, and it went up to the 375 or whatever degrees she wanted to. And then she started cooking for about 30, 40 minutes and it started working really fine.

    We had received a notice from our utility company that our water usage was out of the norm, and they suspected a leak. So, we did a food coloring test in the tank, let it sit overnight and when we woke up in the morning, there was a leak inside the house, in one of the toilets. The contractors that AHS sent came and they sealed that up, replaced the component, and then he went outside to double-check it. He turned off the water into the house, but the meter was still running.

    They spent time trying to diagnose what the problem was at that point, and as it turned out, the components had deteriorated in a water softener that we have, that’s stored in the garage. So, we called Culligan, which is the water softener company that services it, and they came out and fixed it. But the plumbing company came out to fix the interior leak. Everything’s working well since they came out. The contractors were great as well. We’ve used them a few times now, and they’re always professional, and they know what they’re doing. I have good confidence in their ability and very satisfied with their customer service.

    When we bought the house, we had the homeowner put a warranty on it for a year. I haven’t had a problem with American Home Shield. It’s fairly easy to navigate the website. I submitted a claim in December but I didn’t get a technician until January. So, I was a month without an oven. The technician from Hall’s Electric Service was very nice, but we did have an issue after he left. One of our light was not working. He did inform us that he did not mess with that light fixture that was working before. He worked on the panel that the same light fixture was in, and that we would have to call. He was very polite. He fixed the issue, but then when I called the next day because of the other issue, I was informed that because it was a different light fixture at a different section, I would have to resubmit a new claim.

    American Home Shield has been really good with me. I had some concerns in the past, though. One time, I was told something was covered on the dishwasher, but when the guy came to do it, it wasn’t covered. So you should call and talk to a person directly. I used to always get a lady, either in North Carolina or Tennessee, but now I get people in Vietnam, and it’s hard to communicate sometimes. But if I call back and get somebody in the United States, then it usually gets taken care of.

    Now, I’m still waiting to finish up the service for a claim, and their contractor did a fine job on what they’ve done so far. Their guy took care of the shower and the toilet but the faucet was frozen on and he couldn’t get the handle off. He said I need a new handle but American Home Shield would only cover one that you’d get when you build an inexpensive house. He said it wasn’t a very high-quality faucet, and that if I wanted something nice like what I already had in there, I’d have to buy it myself. So, I told him I’ll buy it myself. It turned out that was covered under my warranty from the faucet when I bought it, so the company is sending me the handle. It was back-ordered though. The guy said he’ll come fix it as soon as I get the part.

    We've been happy customers of AHS, so far. I've had them for a couple of years now and I like their claims process - it's pretty friendly and mobile. Whenever things go wrong, the first thing we go to is their online portal, and there have been no issues from a user experience standpoint. Plus, they've gotten better over time. Most recently, I had two issues and they sent Water Control Plumbing out. I had a faucet that was leaking in my bathtub so every few minutes, you hear like a drip come from the faucet.     The water heater was not heating. I called American Home Shield and the representative was fine. The only thing the guy from 1st American did was come in and say he was going to replace the temperature control and essentially, the guts which would be thermocouple, the igniter and the pilot on the inside. And then he turned around, walked out and charged me $186. But the heater didn’t work. He had to order parts. The next day, I got an email that said parts weren’t available, which really wasn’t true, and that American Home Shield authorized a replacement. The replacement was gonna be $1,100. Apparently, the credit that American Home Shield was gonna give me was going to be $300. So, I would’ve spent $1,400 plus the $200, and I’m assuming the 186 I was gonna be charged for a moderately priced water heater.

    I called the guy from 1st American and said, “I’m trying to understand how much the water heater is gonna be versus just the labor,” but he never returned my call. And when I called him, he was out of breath. If I’m a client, regardless of what they’re doing, they should give me a call back. I still haven’t paid the 186 because I’ve been waiting for American Home Shield. I went with a different plumber on my own and American Home Shield was supposed to call me so that I could submit my own. I spent more on my own plumber but I got an excellent water heater. I’m wondering if American Home Shield is worth it.

    We've had a really good experience with AHS. Recently, we were having an issue with the heat was turning off when it should have been continuing to go on. What the technician ended up finding was that the elements within the inside of it that regulate the temperature was just a bit corroded and dusty. So, he cleaned it up and got it working again and we haven’t had any issues then. The contractors of AHS have all been very professional. They all do a great job of calling ahead of time to let us know when they're anticipated to be arriving. And so, it's really clear communication all around.

    We've told people about AHS and we've had a couple of people sign up based off our recommendation. We've talked about how well the system of AHS works with it and that the ease of getting somebody, and that you don’t have to worry about getting referrals on contractors and knowing that you're getting a reliable contractor coming in, that they just handle that full piece of it, and then if there's an issue, they'll fix it no matter what the problem is.

    Once you get the appointment and talk to the person, the contractor is out within a week. They're very knowledgeable about what they're doing. They fix the issue and you're good to go. When I had Appliance Service Masters come out, the tech was really great. He was very friendly, very professional and courteous. He knew what he was talking about and he fixed the issue. It was done within half an hour. I had to leave work, go home and come back. So that was really great. He handled the situation pretty great. I’m very satisfied.

    I had gotten my AC unit cleaned by someone locally and they told me that there were two different issues with my AC unit. The guy told me that I had a R22 unit and that he topped it off, and there was an issue with the secondary drip pan and that they had to replace a thing. I called American Home Shield and had them send someone out to clarify that. When All South Air Systems came out, the tech said there was no issue, that the unit is a R-410A unit. He told me what was going on, checked and ensured that they had not put R22 in my unit.

    He did everything right. He showed me firsthand that the unit was in working order. He showed me everything unlike what the people that cleaned the unit did. They didn’t show me anything and then took money from me. But I was able to recover my money from them for me having to call American Home Shield to have my unit serviced for no reason. Everything’s good now. It was a very reassuring experience, overall. I have always recommended American Home Shield.

    AHS has done an excellent job. In October, I called AHS to get the garbage disposer fixed. The pipe was leaking and when the contractor fixed it, he didn't put something long enough on there. A few days after the 60-day window, that pipe came loose. I called AHS and they had to put in another order. I'm not gonna pay $75 when the guy was supposed to have fixed the garbage disposer the first time. When I called the plumbing company, I couldn't get any help, which was why I had to call back and get Golden State Plumbing to fix it.

    The contractor was very helpful. He talked me through things and told me that there wasn't anything wrong with the pipe. He said that it just needed to be switched around. I also had him do my bathroom. He did an excellent job. When AHS went up on their rates, I looked around to see if I could get somebody with a lower rate. But there was only a dollar difference so I'm just staying with AHS.

    There was a unit with my refrigerator that froze and it froze all the water in the back so water wouldn't dispense out of the dispenser. There were sheets of ice back there and it would make a loud popping noise every once in a while. Then the washing machine wouldn't drain. I submitted the claims for both of them through a telephone call. The rep seemed capable and committed to doing the job and the technician seemed to know what he was doing. The tech took over two hours to work on the washing machine and the refrigerator. We had to make a phone call because he wasn't quite sure how to access the part that he needed to get into and he talked to somebody about that. But I still have a bit of a problem with the refrigerator that hasn't been addressed. It dispenses water but it periodically makes loud popping noises like the ice cracking again.

    I went online and submitted a claim when we were having issues with the electrical outlets. When it showed Turner Electric would be the company that would be calling us, I got worried because it was in a totally different area code. I'm in a 559 area code and Turner was in a 530 area code. I thought they got the wrong client. So I called customer service to tell them that I'm in Fresno and the people they hired are in a totally different area code. They explained to me they had a local office or worker here in Fresno.

    The rep started asking me questions where the problem was, and I was more specific, and I was able to give him more details as to where all the issues were with that outlet because it was all connected. We had an issue with the outlet behind our sofa, then there were two or three in the family room and it connects with the bathrooms. It turned out it was all under the same electrical line. Turner Electric did an awesome job. They took care of it. From the two claims I've had with American Home Shield, they are the best ever home warranty company. There are so many home warranty companies out there that people have and it is true, they turn in a claim and they're denied. So I feel very fortunate with my plan.

    When the AC people put the compressor in, they said that it sounded like it was kind of weak or didn't know how long it was gonna perform. They said if anything happens, to call back. But I didn't like hearing that because I don't want a piece of junk put in my AC unit and if it's gonna be going out within a year or two. I do notice now when the AC kicks on, the compressor is pretty loud. I had to pay 480 bucks out of my pocket for Freon and that was a big expense on my part. So if they come out again and I have to pay that again, I'm really not gonna be happy. But they did a good job. Everything went pretty good. They were quick and very professional. Every time I called the tech and I left him a voice mail, he contacted me back pretty quickly. He gave me whatever information I ask for. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

    It would have been nice to get a call from American Home Shield to let me know what was going on. They should have better communication with their customers so that we're not wondering if it is gonna take a week or a month or two days. They should let us know something because I didn't know anything until a week later. Also, American Home Shield only called and told me that the contractor was coming out the next day, so they didn't give me time to take off from work.

    We had a problem on getting our refrigerator fixed a year or so ago because I couldn’t fix it, then we had to replace it with a different kind and we didn’t like that. But that is what the warranty said so it was okay. We got a refrigerator. They did everything okay. The contractors were good and professional. They had to order some parts. So when the parts came in, and they had rescheduled and another person came, but all three different technicians knew what the problem was and what to be done. Sears did a good job.     I normally just call the 1-800 number and go that way as opposed to doing it online. I may not be at my computer when I think about it so it’s just easier for me to dial the 1-800 number and let the automatic send me through to what it is I was looking for. When my heater motor went out, A-US Air Conditioning came out and replaced it and they did a great job. Good customer service. I knew the guy. He’s been out before for issues with the heating and my air conditioner. We used the same company the last three or four times. The guy came out on time, diagnosed it immediately, repaired it, and went on his way. I've had Home Shield for longer than eight years and it was only once or twice that I had a bad contractor, but 9 out of 10 have been good contractors. Home Shield has been a good service to me.

    I never had difficulty when filing claims with AHS. I've had them for close to 2 years and I always just called in and reported the problem rather than doing it online. They were very helpful and there were no problems. Recently, there was a problem with the washing machine. The motor was making a lot of noise. The contractor came out, did a diagnosis on it and told me that to get it fixed, they would have to order some parts. He told me what was wrong with it - the motor was bad. The next thing I knew, I received a call from American Home Shield, and they told me that they chose to replace the washing machine rather than fix it. They sent me a link to order a new washing machine and within a week, I received a new one. The guys came in, did an install, took the old one out, and made sure the new one was working.     Initially, I had made a mistake of putting down the wrong item on my claim with AHS, which I thought was the item to be fixed. They sent out a person to fix that who then came out but said they couldn’t fix it because it wasn’t the actual thing that they work on. When I contacted AHS back, I had explained that. The customer service was saying that I would have to be charged another fee to send the right technician out, but they waived that and re-initiated the request. I appreciated that.

    It was probably a 24-hour turnaround before they were able to get a hold of someone and send them out. The individual who came in was a really good guy. The claim was for the garbage disposal. He looked at it, took the old disposal out and put in a brand new one. He put in one that was a different model, which he said would probably be better. And if I were to wait for the model that I had, it would probably be about another week and a half before I’d be able to have that item fixed. He already had a different model and he said it shouldn’t matter because it’s just the upgraded model. So, he replaced that and everything was taken care of that same day. Everything, from start to finish, was pretty good. AHS should continue doing what they were doing.

    I called in for a plumbing issue on the phone and spoke with a live person who did a great job. Response Plumbing & Rooter Service called and said when they were gonna come out. They came over quickly, they did not waste any time, and they knew exactly what they were doing. It took them about 30-40 minutes to replace the garbage disposal. They wiped down the counter when they worked and made sure that their shoes were covered with those pads to protect my floor. They were very professional and friendly too. I was happy with the service. Since they have been out, the unit has been fantastic. American Home Shield does a great job. I have had them for years and I would not change with anyone else. They replaced my refrigerator, washer, and garage door opener as well. One time they also fixed my microwave when no one could fix it.

    A guy from JM Appliance came out and assessed the situation on the dishwasher and the refrigerator. He said that it’d need some parts. He told me that either he or somebody else would come out. I said I want the same person because you see this a lot of times where somebody’s passing the buck. So when the other person comes out, he might find something different. He said that he would do that. I even spoke with JM himself, the owner, and he said, “Yes, we can do that, no problem.” They then sent somebody else out when JM had already confirmed with me that it would be the same person. So, we had to keep rescheduling until the same person could come out and finish it.

    The woman I spoke with on the phone was very helpful. She got in touch with JM and told them, and that they’d have to honor it because they were also gonna try to charge me for a canceled appointment. She was very good. The guys that came out were very good too. As for JM, he shouldn't tell somebody one thing and do another and think he can get by with that. I have not met him but I’m just glad American Home Shield got on top of him and made him follow through on something that he promised that he could do. So far, everything’s working. I like American Home Shield very much.

    A few years back, one of my cousins had service work done on an air conditioning unit through American Home Shield, and he was satisfied. Since most of the things in my house were getting a bit old, I thought that would be time to sign up for a home protection thing. I did and I've been with them for a year now. When the drum of my Whirlpool clothes dryer wasn't turning, I called their customer service line. It went through a couple of prompts and then I spoke to someone. I called on a weekend and Emerald Appliance Repair came out the first part of the following week. The tech was very personable. They changed the motor. It worked for one cycle and then it quit again. We called and rescheduled. He came back out the following week and rechecked a couple of connections, and it has been working fine since then.

    I had a slow draining shower and Lone Star came out after a couple of days. My husband said that the contractor was awesome. He took the guy's card to call him again if we needed him again. It is faster to do it online.     AHS sent Watertight Pool for a pump. They were very efficient and had me take pictures of the pump motor before they even showed up the first time. They showed up prepared to replace it and got the whole thing repaired in one visit. And when we had a plumbing issue, the contractor had to order a part and come back a couple of weeks later to fix it.

    However, we’ve had issues, especially with the AC unit, which was in a different house. The AC people that came out were incompetent. It was slow, bad service. They said that the unit was unrepairable and tried to sell us a whole new unit for about $8,000. I sensed their incompetence and called somebody. I didn’t even tell them it was under warranty. He looked at it and said that whoever has been working on it really screwed it up. He said that he'd fix it for $500 and if what he does doesn't fix it, he won’t charge me a dime. I was able to get AHS to reimburse me for that after they had already approved a repair for about four times the money.

    I also had a bad experience with a refrigerator repair. Sears was supposed to service it. It took them over 30 days to even say that they were gonna come out and look at it. They made it sound like they were the only game in town that could service the refrigerator. When I got on the internet, there was a whole list of people that can service refrigerators. I was frustrated with that because my daughter was living there. She had to live out of an ice chest for 30 days with two children. I ended up calling somebody else and pay it out of my pocket. AHS reimbursed me for the greater portion of what I paid. But they should try to find better refrigerator companies. Also, I can tell by people's answers that they're reading a script or being told what to say with an unsatisfied customer. I’m frustrated, but I try not to lose it with them because what’s the point? They only have so much authority.

    AHS wants things to be repaired for as little as possible and subcontractors want to find some way to make money. My gut feeling is that they were a little dishonest. They should have a policy where you can make your warranties available to other qualified vendors. Overall, we’ve had good and bad experiences with AHS in our around three years with them. But chances are, we are gonna renew our policies with them.

    When I submit claims, I call them and tell what the problem is then they call whoever they have. Their guy will call me and say, “Your American Home Shield called us and we’re coming out on this day.” When my heater wasn't cooling, a tech from Mehl Mechanical was sent out and he thought he fixed it one day. He popped it on and it came on, but then it went back and it was out the next day. If I put the heater at a certain temperature, it wouldn’t kick on. So, then he said, “Okay. So, I know the part.” He brought the part the next time and the heater has been running perfectly now.     I like American Home Shield's online thing. However, my wife did a recent claim and said it’s probably the last time she’s gonna do it because it wasn’t very helpful compared to the automated line. The automated line is relatively simple, but if you have a question, you can’t get it on. If they had a chat feature, it would be better. Online with chat would have been probably the most preferred answer.

    For the washing machine claim, a valve had rusted and leaked. The service tech had to replace it and had the parts in his truck. This trip was unusual. It's the first one in a number where the guy came out and was able to fix it the first time. We’ve often gone weeks waiting for parts because they had to order them through American Home Shield. They couldn’t get them from a normal source they had. It put added significant time delay and the wait time is one to two weeks with Home Shield. It usually gets resolved, but most often, it seems like we have to order a part and wait, so it’s almost always two trips and usually, a week apart. My greatest issue has been with my pool. The quality of some of the technicians coming out has been less than stellar so, it’s taking me two or three tries I had to make secondary investments and secondary calls to manufacturers to prove to American Home Shield what the problem was, which was disappointing.

    The first person that came out for my heating unit opened it up, took a look at some stuff and then identified three parts that he thought had to be replaced. He said that he was gonna take that into the office, and that the person that ordered supplies wasn’t the sharpest tech in the world, but they would get back with me and he’d probably see me within a week or so after they ordered the parts. The next day I got a call from them that said they cannot order the parts and that they didn’t make them anymore. They said they were sending out somebody to inspect the ducts for measurements on this to make sure that they were ordering the right unit if they have to replace it.

    The guy came out here and he took a look at my ducting system and the heating unit. He spent about 15 minutes underneath the house and told me that he got the measurements. A week later, I got an estimate from them for $5,200 for duct work, which was a surprise. Nothing to do with replacing the heating unit. I was surprised that I don’t have duct work covered in my policy. There’s competition out there that covers duct work. If it was there and available, I would include that in my monthly policy payments.

    I wanted a second opinion so I called American Home Shield. I told them that Leo Smith has been out here before and he seemed pretty knowledgeable. He is local, and that’s important because we’re up in the High Sierra. So instead of sending somebody from Sacramento area that’s 65 miles away, we ended up with somebody that’s in the general area and services a bunch of stuff. So he came out and looked at the whole system. He said that the guy who previously came should have put these back together instead of leaving the parts apart like that. I told him that the guy thought he was gonna be back in a week to be able to put this in. Then I told him the story about the parts not available. He told me that my unit is older but it was still in good condition, and those parts were readily available.

    After checking the system, he told me that it looked like it just needed nothing more than a routine cleaning. So he took his time and cleaned the system out. Then it fired right up and everything that was supposed to not work is working just fine. So I was really disappointed in the first company that came out. I felt like they were trying to rip me off, and that they would be ripping off American Home Shield too because they were gonna replace a whole unit that was not necessarily needing to be replaced. That was a surprise. But other than that, Leo Smith was straight-up and honest. He did a good job. He cleaned stuff up. I highly recommend him wholeheartedly. His attitude and professionalism was outstanding. He had enough parts for basic routine things if that would have been an issue or if I needed one or two of the parts that they were suggesting that I needed out of this whole unit.

    My washing machine was not filling properly so I submitted a claim through AHS' online website. The site was pretty easy to figure out. Then, they usually say they would be contacting me within 24 hours and I would schedule directly with the contractor and it would be less than 24 hours. For the washing machine, Pro Services came out and they needed to order a new piece that had worn out. It took about a week and a half to get the part in and then to come back out, but it wasn’t super urgent. The washer would sometimes time out but it was still functional. It has been working fine since they came out. Also, they were there when they said they were gonna be, they fixed the problem, and they were friendly. I was pretty satisfied with it.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield are all done online. I'm pretty tech-savvy so it's great for someone like me. I've only had three house calls and I haven't had any problems. Everything has been fine. The only thing is that when submitting something online, what happens often is I just get either a text or an email telling me what time the appointment is. It would be nice if there was a way to have more flexibility with the appointments rather than just arbitrarily getting a time especially during a workday. I'd also like to see the house call fee be a little lower. $100 is a lot especially for the routine stuff. But overall, it saved me money so I can't complain too much. Recently I had a plumbing issue and AZ Remodeling and Plumbing arrived on time and got the job done.

    One of the valves under my kitchen sink was leaking at the stem and then the other valves couldn't get it to turn off. Central Ohio Home Maintenance came out and they got it fixed. The technician was on time and very professional. He had to go get parts which is understandable. He had the wrong parts on his truck but it was no big deal.     We have about 10 properties with American Home Shield. I typically submit claims online and it's very easy to go through the website. Usually, it takes about 3 days for someone to come out. Sometimes, it also takes a week that I have to call back over and over. Still, the contractors are usually very good and I’ve been very happy with almost all of them. Recently, we have a septic tank that was stopped up and Steven A. Mills Plumbing was sent out right the next day. Even the claim submission process was an excellent experience that time. The plumber took care of the problem and he was great.

    Even where my HVAC system in my own home was not working correctly, I called American Home Shield. They sent somebody out, and the guy talked and stayed a couple of hours. Yet he basically said there was nothing he could do and American Home Shield was not gonna fix it. It was an old unit and it needed Freon, and we were putting Freon in for two months but it wasn’t working. He didn’t call back and he didn’t do anything even though he said he’d stop by the next week. So, I called American Home Shield and they took care of the problem by sending somebody out here to put a new HVAC system. I have really good experience with them and I’ve been very pleased.

    The dishwasher went out and it was scheduled to be replaced and we ordered it. The problem that we had was getting it installed. They sent a team out when they brought the dishwasher. They got it in, took out the old one, and then said they couldn't install the new one. One of their reasons was a cabinet between the dishwasher and under the sink, but there was a hole there made for running lines, because the old one was set up the same way. They said that they didn’t have the proper line and I needed to go get a line, etc. They said that that was my responsibility because that was considered a modification. They said it was between me and American Home Shield. I told them that if that was case then they should reinstall my old dishwasher and they could check and see when they could come back and install the new one.

    The most disheartening about the whole thing was one of them told a blatant lie to their supervisor and to American Home Shield to the point I was ready to get an attorney and sue them for defamation. But my wife told me to not waste the time and money since I know I didn’t do it. American Home Shield sent another team out and it cost me $100 because unbeknownst to me, by me not accepting the dishwasher, I had to pay a restocking fee. They brought the dishwasher, and again, they said they couldn’t install it. So I had to go out of pocket and I found another plumber who could come out and install it. I bought a six-foot water line because the water line that came with the unit was only about four feet. If they had told me that early on, I would’ve had that there because the water line was only 17 bucks. I'm very dissatisfied with that experience.

    I usually call in my claims more than online. Initially, the calls are answered by an answering machine. Then you have to tell them what you’re calling for if it's a new service or to check on an existing claim. And then it goes to a person. But one of the things I have experienced was depending on when I call, I will end up going to Tennessee or some place. Sometimes, I end up going to Tennessee where I speak with someone where English is their first language. But majority of times, I go to a call center where English is not their first language, so there are some communication barriers. Oftentimes, the individual on the other end, they hear the words that I'm saying but they don’t understand necessarily the context in which I'm saying them and get the meaning of what that is that I'm saying. That in itself creates some problems.

    The experience that I had with my refrigerator was even worse than the dishwasher. The refrigerator freezer went out on December 28. It took over a month to get the replacement because of the language and interpretation problem that I had with their rep. The individual who came out and serviced my refrigerator went back, told them that it was not repairable but to replace it. But the person on the other end took that to mean replace not the refrigerator but replace the part. We went back-and-forth and back-and-forth about that interpretation. They sent out another company. That company said the same thing and finally, the refrigerator was replaced. The downside to this was my wife’s brother who is a cancer patient is recovering in my home, and he has medication that has to be refrigerated and this medication runs about $700 a week.

    I told AHS that I got a problem with my microwave and they sent Big Country out. I said that the microwave wasn't working and keeps blowing my breaker outside. They sent somebody out. Every time the contractor was out, they looked at it and said that they had to order the part. Then they came back out, put the part in it, said that should be it. It worked once after they left, then blew again. They came back out and said that they were gonna have to put the same part back in. Then it blew again.

    I called AHS and said, "Let's get another provider to work on it." The provider came out and said that the issue was something completely different and that they gotta order the part. That was at the end of January and here it is, in the middle of February, and my microwave still doesn't work. It's been out for over two months. I'm not happy right now. I've contacted AHS seven times, and I still haven't got the situation fixed. I don't know why they can't put in a request and say, "Let's get this man a new microwave." I've taken off work four times, which took money out of my pocket. Also, I don't know when they're gonna show up so I take off work for four hours every time.

    American Home Shield said that Sears was gonna be contacting me within 24 to 48 hours. Guess what? That was about five days ago. \When Sears comes back, that would be five times. And I don't think that's gonna fix the problem. The tech said something with the door latch. I said that that wasn't gonna fix the problem. The microwave is not gonna work when he puts a door latch in because it has something blowing on the outside. Moreover, I keep getting phone calls and emails about updating my subscription with AHS. I'm not doing it until my stuff is fixed. Why should I have to give them the money right now when they didn't fix the issue?

    I have you been using American Home Shield since 92, when we bought the house, and the contractors they usually send out are highly variable. But 100% of my experiences turn out to be positive. However, it isn’t always the first shot that gets it positive and sometimes, I have to deal with multiple people at American Home Shield to get what I want done. Too often, I dealt with folks on the phone and they want to get me to no and of course, I wanna get to yes. But I'm gonna get to satisfied and sometimes it takes 5 minutes and other times it takes a month.

    I don't have anybody else that can fix a problem unless it's the American Home Shield person. And if they refuse to fix the problem, then what am I supposed to do, hang up the phone and just suck up the $75? That's not happening. Initially, the service people are uncooperative on the phone. In a latest claim, I got Flash Garage Door Service and they took care of the radio in the garage door opener that had stopped working. Also, a couple of versions of the website ago was wretched but the current version of the website is really good.

    The refrigerator side was freezing then everything was melting on the freezer part. Two different companies came to look at it. The first company said it was a seal problem so they had to call back AHS and then AHS had to send a different company for the seal problem. But everyone has been professional. They just didn't diagnose it early on and kept saying it was this or that.

    They're supposed to be coming out again on Wednesday to replace another part that they feel is wrong. If they feel that it's not worth to repair it, then I don't know why every time they say that they'll order a part. One of the parts that they said I needed was no longer available. They already told me that it would probably not work again even after they put this new part on it because I don't have the other part that they said I need. I don't even know why it's even necessary to order a thermostat on it if they feel the other part is needed as well. But then I'll have to test it out again to see if it works. I'm not able to buy groceries. I've been eating out for the past few weeks. It's just frustrating.

    We had leaks and Reliable Plumbing came in for the upstairs and my wife also pointed out the downstairs one but they didn't address it. So, we had to call them back out for the second time to check out the downstairs.     I recently had some issues with the knob to turn the water line off from the house that goes from the inside to the outside. The service technician said that the knob was very old so he tightened it up and recommended a different type of shutoff valve that was a little bit easier to turn on and off. I felt comfortable with him and he resolved the issue.

    Everything has been working out fine with Home Shield and I've stayed mainly because of the service. But I had one company replace my heat pump and my furnace and I was pleased with the service for the most part but they sold me things that I did not need. Before they resolved the furnace issue, they were interested in quoting me prices for all the work that I needed to do in my home and I didn't like that. I felt that they were there to resolve a particular issue and not really try to market or sell anything else until that issue was resolved or until I was totally satisfied with their service. I've also used some of the companies as a follow-up to having other work done. I base my decision to follow up with them or to get them to do additional work on how they responded to the work that was requested through AHS.

    The ice machine wasn't working as it wasn't producing ice. GE Appliances came out and the tech said that it was leaking and almost caused a fire. He switched out the whole motor and everything's working great now. It was my mom who signed up with American Home Shield and we've had the warranty for a few years now. We've never had an issue in the claim submission process and it's always been a very easy thing. So, when there's an issue, they send out guys as soon as possible and if it's not fixed, they'll fix it.

    I have had American Home Shield for years on two rental properties. I have had occasion to call them for a washer repair, which went fine. I suppose this is because the $125 deductible covered the entire cost of the contractor visit for them. Now I have a problem with the AC, which is going to be significantly more expensive and they are running me around. They sent out the first contractor, who did not have the equipment to fix the problem. He sent a report back to AHS outlining the problem and what needs to be done by another contractor to fix the AC and get it back cooling.

    The "authorization department" has had this report over 48 hours and still has not authorized or scheduled the repairs. I have called a dozen times and cannot get anyone to give me any information other than it is with the auth department and I have to wait for them to get back to me. Now my tenant has been sitting 3 days in hot Florida without an air conditioner. They will not let me talk to anyone in the auth department, will not put a supervisor on the line, and are basically holding me hostage because if I go ahead and pay someone to expedite these repairs they are not going to reimburse me. As I said, I have paid for policies for years, and this is how they treat me. I WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone at this point. The minute you have a major problem, they are not there to help.

    We bought this house in June and I agreed to a contract because everything was very fast - the purchase of the house, the closing. It happened within two weeks and we were scared that something will not be working in that house. As the final condition to close the contract, we requested the seller of the house to buy a home warranty for the first year so we’ll be sure that everything is functioning because the price was high and we didn’t have time to check everything. They agreed on that and they paid for the first year.

    American Home Shield's contractor finally fixed the furnace that we were requesting the service for. They came fast. The first time, they were fixing another furnace and they changed the thermostat on that one. The other one on the fourth floor had the same thing but they didn’t pay attention to that. It was working for a while, then it stopped working. AHS sent us a different company for that one, but they didn’t fix it. They said the grounding was making the problem for the furnace so they cut the grounding of the house. It didn’t work again. We called the electrician to fix the grounding of the house that the second company cut. They said, “We are here just to check the grounding. The electrician thinks it’s coming to your furnace." And they were gone without fixing anything.

    Again, the furnace was not working so I called for the fourth time. I requested the first company to come because they fixed the other one on the first floor, so I was hoping they would find out what was wrong with the one on the fourth floor. They were supposed to change it the first time because when I called for that one on the fourth floor, they checked both the first and the fourth floor but they were focused on the first floor. They said something was wrong with the control panel. They changed it but they didn’t pay attention to that one on the fourth floor that I was calling for. The first floor has been working since their visit. They paid attention to the fourth floor on the second appointment and they fixed it. They said there was something in the computer inside that they needed to change.

    I was calling American Home Shield a few times trying to fix my furnace. When I tried to call, the call was disconnected. When I was trying to chat different people, the internet was interrupted again. Every time, I had problems calling especially for the grounding with the electrician one, that thing was not fixed, and I didn’t even know what he did. It was a misunderstanding. Usually, miscommunication between different technicians. The electrician cut the grounding, then the second company that American Home Shield sent focused on something else. They just checked the electricity of the furnace, but it was for the grounding that the first service technician disconnected.

    Also, for the last claim on the regulator of the water temperature on the shower. I sent pictures and AHS sent somebody that couldn’t fix that. They said, “We’ll send another plumber tomorrow that can fix it.” Nobody called me from that plumbing company. We have to call and the person there said, “It’s not available.” We were waiting for somebody to call us, to send the other plumber that the plumber told us about yesterday, and nobody called us. My husband stayed home waiting for them for almost two days. He lost two days of missed work. They said, “He’s not available today. He’s available Monday.” And that was a Friday. So, my husband spent Thursday waiting for the first plumber. Then we spent Friday for the second one that didn’t come or didn’t call. And they were acting like they were angry and they called off the service. I had to call AHS again to assign me another one and the second one was okay.

    I had an annual contract with Delta. They come out and check everything for me. During this check, because this is a new house for me, they had found a couple of things, like my heat pump. Then up in my attic where my heater, my furnace and my air conditioner are, they found some condensation. The guy took a picture and said it probably needed to get taken care of sooner than later, especially before they turned my air conditioner on. So he said he would write all of it up and that way, I would have it when people come out to take care of the heat pump. That was when Platinum came in since they contract with American Home Shield.

    Platinum came out and did my heat pump. The guy even went up there in the attic and he said, "Okay. I got it. I will make a note." I showed him the other note from the other heating and air business. He said he would submit it and let AHS know what needed to be done. I've got to follow-up to see if they are gonna send somebody out to take a look at it. But the guy from Platinum was really good. The only one that I struggled with was the guy that came out from Van's Appliance to do my stove. I could hardly understand him and I don't think it fixed the problem. I had an extra $75 to put another claim in. That aside, so far, I've been really happy with American Home Shield.

    Submitting a claim to AHS is pretty easy, just a lengthy hold time when I call. And I'm not always in the mood to deal with the computer so, I do a lot of phone calls. But lately, it's been a little faster it seems. Also, the people that are on the phone are nice and good. They pretty much know what they're talking about. My heating claim with AHS was perfect. The contractors came, they fixed it, and it was done. So, we were good.

    I also had a plumbing issue. I had a faucet that was leaking, and the contractor decided the faucet was bad. Then I don't know if he blocked it underneath because it was still leaking, and it took him from December till two days ago to get me the faucet. He got a faucet after about a month, but it was too short. I know he knows the difference between a four-inch and an eight-inch. But, somehow, they ordered a four-inch, but he said he didn't do the ordering, the people in the office did. They had to take that back, and I had to call AHS five times because every time I called them, there was a girl that answered the phone and she said, "They're out in the field. They'll give you a call when they come in." But they never called me back. And then AHS even called, and they never called them back. It was a big old mess.

    Then three days ago, they called me on Thursday if they can come out, and they came out Friday, and they put it in. It was a brushed nickel faucet and the one they got looks more like the chrome one. And I wasn't too happy, but I'm happy I got a faucet. For two months in the master bathroom, I din't have a faucet and that was pretty bad.

    The contractors' name is JR Plumbing. And they messed me up a long time ago after they came out for this plumbing issue. They also did my water heater. And somehow, they told me that AHS doesn't cover the water heater, and I had to pay $800. And I don't even know if that was the fact or not. I don't like them at all and I don't want them coming back.

    We had a bathtub that was leaking when it was draining. So, Ace Plumbing came out and had to replace the drain from the tub. They did that in about 45 minutes and then they were gone. Everything went well. They were there on time, were friendly, and were quick. They did a good job.     I use the AHS website for claims all the time. I've used it at least six to eight times since I’ve had my policy. It's super easy. I received a notice via email confirming the claim has been submitted and someone from the contractor would contact me within 24 hours. And then, I also received a text.     There was a plumbing back up as both toilets were backing up the shower. I submitted the claim online and the website has been fine every time I’ve used it. I called on a Thursday or Friday, and I was told it wouldn’t be ‘til Wednesday. And then, I called back and said Wednesday wasn’t good enough because we’re older and we need to have our toilets ‘cause we pee all day.     American Home Shield has been responsive as far as the service calls we've made. I've been using them for a couple of years and submitting claims online has been much easier. It’s automated. You need to email back and then you get an email saying that you should get a call from the contractor before they go out. When contractors need to replace a pipe or a water heater, oftentimes they’ll say they have to make special modifications, which will cost an extra $300. The hot water wasn't that old, but it was something that was not covered and I had to pony up another 300 bucks. That has happened on several occasions. I suspect that sometimes that there have been some special modifications, but I don’t think it was every time.

    I called American Home Shield on a Wednesday or Thursday, and I was able to schedule something for a Monday. I was having some foul smell coming from underneath my sink and there was a lot of questions as to whether it was something in the pipes or something in the garbage disposal, and they recommended a newer garbage disposal. I asked if they could install a new sink because the sink faucet was dripping nonstop. So that was what they did. Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem. But they were really young and they were wonderful. Not only were they super friendly and super professional, they were really knowledgeable and very quick. I absolutely adored them. They kept thanking me for being a great customer.

    The day they came out, I wasn’t having the smell underneath the sink, but they were able to pretty much diagnose it. I don’t have a trap in the dishwasher so the smell wasn’t there. It wasn’t easy for them to determine whether or not the problem was gonna be fixed. I haven’t had a smell since then, although I did start getting one within the last few days.

    A lot of the contractors are hit or miss. So, I’m glad when I find a contractor that sticks with American Home Shield. I’m very happy with Surfside Appliance. They're by far the best contractor we’ve had. If I have an appliance issue, I will request them. The contractor was thorough and sent text messages to tell me when he was leaving. If I have an issue after he’s gone, I can text him, and he’s very responsive. It was my dryer that was not working. The heating element was out. After he fixed that, something else went out on us immediately and the claim had to be reopened. It was like a fluke or one of those things being fixed caused the other to break. The guy was quick and knowledgeable. He usually has the parts on his truck.

    About 4 days after I submitted online the claim for my heat pump, Platinum Heating & Air came out to do the repair. I would’ve preferred it sooner, but it was a cold snap. The guy who came out was very good. He had to come out a second time as there were some additional issues, but both times were very professional. The heat pump’s working fine at present, which is the important thing. And so far, it’s been a good experience having American Home Shield as my home warranty provider.

    Our oven wasn’t working. I tried to submit a claim to American Home Shield online but I couldn’t get past the log in. It wasn’t recognizing my username or password. So, I just called. They said the contractors would be out within the next couple of days. The tech from Prodigy Appliance Repair that came out was personable, funny and nice. He got it done fast. The oven was making a loud noise. And then the fan motor went out and it stopped making the noise. It sounded like a fan. And it stopped making the noise and then the oven would overheat. The fan motor wasn’t there to cool down the oven. It would just get really hot and then the oven lock would come on. The tech knew exactly what to do. He ordered the part and he told me how long it would take to get there. The day before it got there, he called me and said that he’d be there the next day. He put in a new fan motor and the oven has been perfect since then. It was a really fast experience.

    The dryer wasn’t working well. The technicians from Able Appliance Repair came. We had a first change of a part in December, but the new technician came and reviewed it again and mentioned something about some features. He came back within four days, and in a really short time, he changed that. And since then, the dryer is working perfectly. So, the service was good. The technician was very precise, and we’re very happy with that. I bought a house and American Home Shield was the service contracted by the ex-owner. I’m really happy with the service. And I’m thinking about how to take that service under my name after the current one stop because that was paid by the ex-owner.

    I called AHS when my icemaker no longer worked. I went through the automated prompts and then someone called me. Within a day or so, I was told when to expect the contractor and within that same day, the contractor called me to set up the appointment. Appliance Network came and figured out whatever the problems were. Their servicemen were very prompt and polite in explaining what was going on. They had to order parts. The tech left and got the parts ordered. Then two days later, someone else came out and replaced everything. I’m a widow and on a limited income. My biggest fear is a furnace, a water heater, or an air conditioner going out or needing some major repairs. I’ve told people to check into AHS. It’s well worth it. In fact, I’ve tried to talk some people into it even before I had a claim.
