The first guy who came out was horrible. He completely changed the settings on my dryer when he checked it and he put it on manual. And he kept saying, "I'm gonna check and see. It's probably the sensors." But when you put it on manual, the sensors are not in play. It's a manual dry. I said that to him and I said, "Well, maybe you need to put it on what I use." "No, no, no, this is what I need to do to check it." He couldn't get it to do anything wrong. It tumbled. I even asked him, "Why don't I put some laundry in?" "No, no, that's fine." My impression of the first guy was that he just wanted to get in and get out as quick as possible.
On the other hand, the second guy was wonderful. He was personable, knew what he was doing, and immediately knew what the problem was. He tried it on the settings that I used to dry my laundry with a full load of laundry in there drying. Sure enough, it was having a problem. The second guy was great. The only complaint I have is it takes a long time for AHS to notify me that the job is closed. It takes three weeks. Other than that, I found submitting a claim to be very easy. I was very pleased.

I had some plumbing issues in my bathroom and Jaime Avellino Plumbing came and fixed it. I called Home Shield and followed the directions. It was very simple. The tech called right away and came the next day. Super professional. I was very satisfied, and would use him again.

I just called American Home Shield and scheduled a service request. They, in turn, got me connected to Certified Electrician. They came in because my external lights weren't functioning. The service was pretty good. I called the person. He gave me a time. We set up an appointment. Before he could come in, he checked outside. I didn't know that the switch were tripping. The external light was outside the front door. I was looking for it in the garage and all over. So, he just pressed that and he tested, and he said that it was functioning. I was trying to put up Christmas lights. I brought up the lights. I plugged it in. Everything was working. We tested in the front. Then he asked me to test in the balcony. So, I went on the patio and tested it. Both the places, they were working. I also tested it in the garage, outside the garage, underneath the balcony and the patio. It was working there. I was pretty satisfied.
Hi Kalyan,

When I called American Home Shield, it took a couple minutes to get through. With COVID it makes it a little bit difficult no matter how you look at it but they answered fairly quickly. I told them what I needed and they took the information for my deductible. It was relatively easy and I had an appointment the very next day.
The guy from Sears showed up on time as he said he would. He put shoe covers on and had a mask on. He went to the location. I showed him where the washing machine was and when he was done, everything was cleaned up. There was no mess and there was nothing that I had to do. Everything was fine. We talked a little bit and he told me about how much soap to use or how much not to use. He said a lot of people over-put soap in there and it gets clogged up. He cleaned up the part of the unit which was needed to be cleaned up and did a very nice job. American Home Shield is well worth it. It's worth the effort and the cost. You're guaranteed what you're getting. I've had other companies where I've had to wait and wait on things but AHS have been very good and fast. Everything was done professionally.

We requested AHS as part of the sale. You'll never know when you're buying if the appliances are not new. It's nice to have that coverage. We were protected with AHS for a year from September ‘19 to September ‘20 in my daughter's house. We are protected presently for our condo in Florida from February this year until February next year.
I recently had some electric wall heaters that needed to be repaired and they ended up being replaced. I called AHS and there were two claims we did at once. They said a contractor would get back to us in 24 hours but it took a few more days than I expected. But it wasn't an issue because it wasn't an emergency. The guy called me the night before and when he was on his way. His morning appointment got canceled so he asked if he could come early. I told him I was not there but to give me a few minutes. He said it was not a problem. Once he got here, it was fantastic. He was very professional and very thorough. He had to go out and get parts then he came back. It was really nice to work with him.
Grant,
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

We weren't getting heat from the furnace and it kind of made me nervous because of the cold weather. The tech from All Temp came out and he set it up so it would run and would kick in automatically until he could get the part. Then he went to get the part. They gave him the wrong one, so he had to go back and get the correct one. He went beyond what he should do. I'm very satisfied with him. He was a really nice guy. I would do business with him any time. American Home Shield was very good. They helped right away. I would tell others I highly recommend them. In case of emergency or otherwise, it's the place to call. They get it done right away.

It's been awesome with AHS. When you submit your claim, they charge you and they contact you immediately. I've never had an issue with waiting on trying to get something repaired. I had my air conditioner repaired and the guy broke something on the switch. They immediately set off for the part, paid for it, and fixed it. The people that came out to fix my dishwasher were on time. They were very nice. They came back like they said with the part and put the part back in.

Everything went great with my most recent claim. It was just a simple mainline clog. The plumber came out at their first availability and got it fixed up really quick. I had to call to add a couple stoppages, just in case there was more wrong than what I initially thought. So that way, it would be covered. But when I called, everything went super smooth. Placing the claim to American Home Shield was really easy.

My furnace was acting up. It was blowing cold air. I reached out to American Home Shield. Immediately, I was contacted by S & L. They made contact for an appointment to come out really quickly. In about two days, a technician came out and did the first analysis of the problem. I had a very good experience with American Home Shield online doing the claim. I also had an excellent experience with setting up an appointment with S & L to come out for the initial appointment.
The technician was a very professional young man and courteous. One thing I liked, he was prompt. He also had on full protective gear. He kept more than 6 feet from me. He went into the basement and he cleaned up the mess. He made sure to do the whole analysis of the furnace and got the heat working. Then he also scheduled a second appointment to put in a switch. He came back within a week and he installed it just this week. When he came back into the home, the same thing, he had protective gear, was timely and not wasting a lot of time, had very professional conduct and spoke to me very clearly. He broke down what was going on. I definitely would have him come back again.
I was referred to American Home Shield by a family member after a huge heating bill in my home. American Home Shield, from the moment, talked to me and helped me signed up for the plan, doing the online setup. They have been very professional, friendly and easy to talk to. Other people were telling me about American Home Shield. I was really reluctant at first. I'm one of those types of people who say, "I've heard of Sears, I've heard of Lowe's. I'm not sure about this plan." But now that I've used it, I love it. I'm definitely gonna keep it. They are definitely worth it. I would recommend them and advertise for them. I also tell other people about them. They have really come through for me and my husband.

When there is no insurance, everybody feels that we can postpone maintenance. And for the long term, it is difficult to maintain the house. So insurance gives the plus point and it does not matter if in one year, we don't need any repair. But maybe on the third year, we'll need some sort of repair regarding heating and cooling, so we'll need the insurance. Recently, we were having a heating issue where initially, the furnace was okay. But suddenly, it stopped working. We submitted an online request with AHS and the process was easy. The techs they sent out found that the inducer motor was not working and they replaced it. Other than that, my brother is going to buy a new home and we're thinking about getting the insurance for him.

I put the claim in then someone texted me right away when they could come out. They came when they were supposed to and texted when they were coming. They were very swift in finding the problem. They said that they would have to order a part and it might take a couple of days. But the guy said he would try and get it as quick as he could and that's exactly what he did. It was that same night that they sent me an email saying that they would be out the next day. He came back the next day in the afternoon and put it in. My husband said he asked any questions he had and he answered them. I never met them personally but with the interaction I had through texting with them, they responded very quickly. My husband said that the guy was very courteous and seemed to know what he was doing. It was a very good experience and everything has been functioning quite well.

I had a problem with the oven. I'm old school, so it took me a little time to dial this and dial that and finally got somebody when I asked to speak to an operator. Then I was good. The tech came out, looked at it real good and said it needed another board. He had to put a board in it. He ordered it, came back in good time, and fixed it. Everything was up to par. He had a mask on. He was dressed professional, and he acted professional. He spent a lot of time checking this and that to make sure he got the right diagnosis for it. He told me to monitor it to see was it still gonna have that same problem. But we haven’t had a problem out of it and she has been doing plenty of cooking. So, she’s satisfied with it. Everything went great. I would recommend Home Shield because it seems like, this ain't gonna break down, that ain't gonna break down, but in the long run time, you're gonna need it, and it's right on time.

I was not able to close the garage door with the garage door opener nor the keypad and when I pushed the knob on the side of the house, I had to keep it pushed all the way in before it would close. I didn’t have any difficulty in submitting the claim to American Home Shield this time because I did it online. Trying to get someone on the phone to put in the work order is difficult at times. The contractor came and took care of it. AHS is an excellent program because $75 to get whatever it is repaired is a lot cheaper than paying out of pocket. It's a great product to have. My garbage disposal was leaking and Altstadt came out and replaced it. They were great. Communication was great. They were in and out quickly. They wore masks too. They did have to go to the supply house here in town. They didn't have it on the truck, but it was the same day. I've also submitted a claim for my refrigerator. The claim submission process was easy. I was turned on to the service because my father-in-law has had it for quite some time and he made mention of it. Our house is almost six years old now so I figured things would probably start to break. It's easy enough to budget for the monthly fee that the Home Shield costs rather than go out and replace a refrigerator.

The Sundance Company came in for a leaky faucet. When the guy was changing the faucets, for some reason, the plumbing started leaking everywhere and he had to replace it. He replaced it with an older tubing that is no longer used in new constructions or to fix anything. Apparently, that was something that he shouldn't have done. Five months went by and the faucet just fell apart because it wasn't tightened because the tubing wasn't placed correctly. So I called the second claim for somebody to come and fix this faucet.
Ally Plumbing changed the plumbing. Their plumber did a good job. And it’s working. The plumber was very good, not like the other guy that came over and didn’t have any time. Since that guy didn't have any time, he started throwing things around and breaking stuff. But the faucet is still not placed correctly. So I'm just gonna go ahead and pay, on the side, somebody to place a new faucet on it. The tubing that is now there is not the right tubing for the faucet. It’s separated from the wall and there’s a huge stain. It works but it's just not the way I like it.

I just moved into the property and I was going off of my inspection from the purchase of the home, things that I needed to rectify, so I called a plumber out. He came out to do an inspection, and he said, “Oh, yeah, we can do a flush for 175.” He said there didn't seem to be any issues. I have a tankless water heater and I wanted to get a water heater flush, but then the plumber said that the hot water valve was broken, so he wasn't able to do the flush. I was a little leery of it because his shirt was all wet, so it looked like he broke it. I went along and called my warranty, and American Home Shield sent out Jorge.
I paid the $75 to have Jorge come out and assess everything and he told me initially that it wasn't broken. He also said it would just be a 185 for the flush, but when he came back and tried to do it, he said the valve was broken. Knowing ahead of time whether or not something's broken so that I can be more prepared to request what I needed to get done would be nice, but maybe you’re not able to see that it’s broken until you go through with the flush. That’s what happened with the previous plumber as well.
I had to get the valve repaired. Because it was a second opinion, it made me believe that it was broken. I went along and got it all done in one sweep. He was able to do the flush and repair the valve. I paid a total of $700. It was way more than I anticipated to spend, but I was prepared because the other guy said that it was broken, and he gave me the same quote. Jorge was nice and helpful, and he talked to me about in the future, getting a water conditioner to help keep the water and the pipes clear. I had a pleasant overall experience besides having to pay more than what I wanted to pay.

My refrigerator door would not close all the way. It would stay ajar. The refrigerator warning bells kept going off because the door was not closed all the way. The Sears rep came out and fixed it properly. On the hinges for the door, it just needed some washers that apparently were not originally installed when the door was delivered to me. I had service calls through American Home Shield two times in the past and the reps did not fix it properly and the problems remain. They just put like a Band-Aid on it. It was fixed for a month or two, and then it came right back. But Sears had gotten it right.
I called my claim in. It wanted me to do it automatically through the telephone prompts, and I wanted to speak to somebody about it. This was like the same claims that I was doing multiple times. When you call, you go through the automated system. The automated system tried to get me to process it, which is normally okay, but I wanted an operator and that was a little difficult to try to get to an operator.
Your experience with American Home Shield is really dependent upon the contractor that they send to you. They send a poor contractor, you got a poor experience with the company overall. That was kind of what happened to me the first two times. If they can do a good contractor in someone's home to make the repair, they'll be happy and satisfied. It's all a question of the contractors American Home Shield uses. The contractors, when they come into your home, are American Home Shield. If they do a good job, you're happy. If they don't, then not so much.

I filed a claim online with AHS and the process was easy. Then, someone called me really quickly, within two minutes, which was a great experience. The tech came out because our third-floor toilet was leaking and by the time we caught it, it had leaked through the walls all the way into the first floor. We knew it was coming from the toilet, there was water all over the floor, but we weren't sure what exactly it was coming from. We were able to turn the water off and drain the toilet. Then the next morning, things were clearly drying, so we could tell that was the source.
But I was really disappointed with the gentleman that came out to address our issues with that. This is our new home and we haven't had any issues or had to use a home warranty company or a plumber before. So, really went with the flow, no pun intended, but then, I had a lot of questions after the fact. He didn't wear a mask and we're in Columbus, Ohio where the covid cases are really high right now. But I didn't say anything to him as I was trying to avoid conflict because I so desperately wanted someone to tell us what the problem was and help us fix it. He was only here for four minutes though and we have security cameras. He just looked at the toilet and didn't take anything apart. He said he knew what the issue was and that he could fix it. I was taken aback and I asked how he knew. Then he left and I haven't heard anything else. He wrote me a diagnosis to give to our insurance company, but I'm having to get a second opinion because I was told that the repair wasn't covered by the warranty company.
I was really surprised that there wasn't anything further than just a visual assessment. The mask thing was disturbing, too. I’m really displeased that I spent $75 to have a tech come out, not wearing masks, spend four minutes, and tell me he couldn't help me. It was a complete waste of time and money. I had to take time off from work, so I lost revenue there. Now, I'm going to have to pay another plumber to hopefully tell me what's really wrong and fix it. So, it’s like double jeopardy.

I had to use Home Shield twice this past month. Once for my refrigerator and once for my swimming pool. Home Shields’s response was excellent. I called them and they had somebody come out within two or three days, which is the best you can expect under today's circumstances. But Home Shield could do a little bit better job in vetting their vendors. I wouldn't let the guy I had with the refrigerator in my house a second time. I took care of it myself.
The guy was awful. He tried to sell me a $700 computer chip for my refrigerator when all I needed was to clean the coils. It was like he was trying to rip me off and I realized that. But some other person who's not as knowledgeable would be very susceptible. But it wasn't Home Shield’s fault. They send the person here, thinking that they're going to do a reputable job. Sometimes, you get a bad vendor. But I'm satisfied with Home Shield. The consumer just have to do due diligence. But the guy that took care of my pool was outstanding. I have a regular pool guy, but this guy did a great job. He came in, looked at it and told me what the problem was. He said he gotta come back, but he would fix it temporarily. Then he was back in two days.
I usually do my claims over the phone. I don't like to do it online. I'm leery of putting anything online anymore. I usually call or use the automated system on the phone. If I call at 9 o'clock, I have an email from them by 11 o'clock saying that the vendor has been notified, and the name and telephone number of the vendor. I can get in touch with the vendor. They're very good in terms of responding immediately and setting up a vendor. Within 24 hours, I always get an email or call from the vendor.
As soon as the vendor gets here, I take his temperature, I ask him a lot of questions, and then, you can get a feel for what's going on. I've had a problem with my pool a couple of times, and they keep sending the same company. They are great. I'm on a first-name basis with the guy. But I had an interesting incident with Home Shield about three years ago. I had water tank leak so they sent a vendor. This guy was awful. He tried to talk me into replacing what I had. The tank had to be replaced. So I called American Home Shield and I said I wanted to replace the tank that I had. They said the contract only calls for $1,000. I asked if I could have the money and they said, “Sure.” They were very good in that regard. But the vendor was lousy.

My dishwasher wouldn't drain so it was causing some bad smells and it wasn't completing the cycle. The guy ordered what he was supposed to but the wrong part came. It took two or three weeks but everything else was fine. The company was a son and a father. They were both nice gentlemen and did good work. But I called somebody out probably a year or so before and it was kind of the same issue. They kind of did a little something to get it passed. The same issue kept on happening probably about two or three months after that. I hate when you call in again about the same issue and you're paying your fee again.
I've had a similar situation with the second claim I had with my basement AC unit. There's something funny with the wiring in the unit. When I try to cut my heat on, it won't work. It would just blow cold. They'll do something with the wiring but when it gets hot, then I gotta call again because now it's just blowing hot. They're not fixing the actual problem. They're just hardwiring whatever it is. Also, when I call in, I'm talking to somebody in the Philippines and they can never make any decisions. When I was complaining about the thing in the basement and told them it was the fourth time I've called, they were reading a script almost.

In the beginning, I wasn't really liking them as much because of the simple fact that I pay for them to come out to fix something but it wasn't covered under the insurance. So I wound up having to pay money for no reason. But besides that, it's good to have for the minor things that they can fix. They were able to fix my air condition but I had to pay extra for the Freon. They also were able to fix my lamp. The contractors were good.

We had multiple things go wrong with our appliance. The icemaker was freezing up all the time. It would make 10 cubes of ice and freeze up solid behind the wall where the fan was, and we’d have to defrost it by doing stuff to it. The temperature inside the refrigerator was also getting up around 50 degrees and then none of the controls were working on the pull out drawer down below. They would not function. We couldn’t change anything like we used to be able to.
The technician who was sent out was great. He's been out to the house before on our microwave and he’s a really good technician. He's knowledgeable and he was great to work with. All in all, American Home Shield offers good service. It's a good product and I like the cost of the premium and the deductible. They’re fair. Whenever I had an appliance or something go wrong, their work was good. That's the best thing.

American Home Shield has a hard pass rule of not looking to replace and forcing the consumer to have to take a piecemeal fix. If the unit calls for a replacement, whatever it is, it should be replaced. I informed American Home Shield that because of COVID-19, the manufacturer that deals with my unit was shut down throughout the whole summer. I was given a piecemeal situation until the manufacturer was back open again. The unit was not functioning properly, but the servicer said that they don't replace them. They just fix them. It is working, but I know that I have a unit that is not efficient and that’s my biggest concern. Everything else was fine. The servicer showed up on time and serviced the unit.

I'm not happy with American Home Shield. Their accounting department is supposed to call me back to tell me why I've been overcharged 20 bucks a month for the last two months. The payment comes out of my account automatically. Their reps were pretty good, except I was on hold for about a half-hour the other day and it was the most annoying holding music. They have this horrible jazz that doesn't even meet the definition of music. So, by the time I got back on the phone after a half-hour, I was not in a good mood. The people have been pretty decent but some of them have trouble speaking clearly. The lady I spoke to used this term and I had to have her spell it. It didn't sound anything like what she was saying. They really need to learn how to enunciate the correct language.
When I talked to the original gentleman when I signed up, the statistics spoke for themselves as far as home many people that American Home Shield had. They have a couple of million customers, so it's quite a few. I've had a good experience with AHS. But I don't like fact that they take more money than they're supposed to and no one really knows what they're doing in the accounting department. They actually put a pool coverage for my pool on my coverage and I didn't ask for it. I would never have done that because for the $100 fee, I could fix most problems on the pool myself.
I had a refrigerator icemaker claim and I had it taken care of with no problem. Then they're coming out to rebuild the clothes washer next Friday. Appliance Care Experts did the refrigerator. Their tech was a little abrasive but he did a nice job. He knew what he was doing. I was trying to be helpful so I had done some research on it and told him that I had pretty much figured out what the problem was. But ultimately, I was wrong and it ticked him off. I gave him a tip when he left and apologized to him. All in all, it was a good experience. If I had another appliance go out, I would definitely be okay with them coming back out to work on it.
American Home Shield is a pretty good setup and I've already recommended them to a couple of people. Now, I won't be needing it. But I had another place I was thinking about getting that coverage. It's a good investment. $100 is a big hit to a lot of people nowadays but at the same time, if you're talking about a $1,000 washing machine, it's nice. I also like that they stay on it until you are satisfied. That has been a plus rather than calling somebody and they come out, look at it and don't know how to fix it where you're just wasting your money or your time, and time is money. Overall, I'm satisfied and I'm not canceling the insurance. I just wish they get my billing situation cleared up.

I always call AHS for my claims because I'm low vision. It's just a very long wait, sometimes as much as an hour. But there often is a thing where you can opt out and have them call you back. The guy who came was wonderful. He was prompt. They usually give you a window and he texted me at the beginning of the window saying he was on his way. He got here and he was professional and clean. He didn't come in with dirty shoes and he wore a mask the whole time. He did try to repair it but when he was testing it, it was still leaking underneath. He said it was a bad unit and it needed to be replaced. He ended up replacing it. He took care of business and was out of here within the same window time. It was really good. I had a prior issue and when I called, customer service told me it wasn't something that AHS covered even though my policy said it was an appliance they covered.

I’m very satisfied with AHS and I just re-signed up for another year. For the most part, they’ve taken care of our claims very well. They're taking care of this one but it just took a week or two before I even got an answer. It takes a long time to get some feedback when you do put in a claim, but it should be done in a day or two, at least, to acknowledge that they're looking for someone and they haven't found one yet. A little follow up would be better. It took a long time to find out that AHS couldn’t find anybody to help me on my roof issue. I ended up contacting our contract company. We’re contracted through an organization through our nationwide real estate site. So I just contact the person who works corporately, they contact American Home Shield, and they will finally get some results. I still recommend AHS but I tell people they have to be patient and sometimes, they might have to call again.

The burners on our oven have been working but the igniter in the baking part of the oven wasn't working. We replaced the igniter but that didn't do anything. So, we had the technician come out to look at it to see if he could figure out what was going on. He was able to repair the unit. He fixed the panel on the back of the oven because there were some wires that were loose.
However, it was ironic because it happened again the day after Thanksgiving. We took the back panel off to jiggle the wires but that didn't do anything. And the igniter is brand new so I'm not sure it solved the problem. But then it was broken a couple of days later. I don't know if we need to pay the $75 again to have them come out or if there is a way to see if we can have somebody else come out without the deductible since the tech didn’t fix it the first time. Other than that, we had our furnace go out right after we moved in and AHS saved the day with helping us get that replaced without any out of pocket. It’s exceptional. We’re happy.

But he got a bad part, so he had to bring another part in. He put it in there. It ran good for about 24 hours, and then it would kick out. So they came back up and they tracked it out and it was the control board down there. He put it in and it's been running like a champ ever since. I had a plumbing issue for the kitchen sink and the techs were good. They came closer to the end of the time window but they did come and it was resolved within like 15 minutes. Right when they left, one of the rooms started doing the same issue again. When they came back, I felt a little silly. It was just a bad light bulb and I was thinking it was bad wiring. They were professional, on time and explained everything well. They cleaned up their mess too.
I had American Home Shield previously when I purchased the home and I've had it in other homes. I've had this current policy for about six months. There are good things about them but there are definitely some improvements needed. It is a good program for small fixes but I wouldn't say it's good for quick fixes. The electrical claim wasn't an emergency situation and the guy got out here the next day. That's because that vendor happened to be professional. But I had a plumbing claim in the past month which was an emergency. The process of entering everything online and putting in a ticket is great. After that point, dealing with American Home Shield was horrible. It's difficult to get someone that understands you on the phone. There's no management available to escalate an issue until you call about five times and are on hold for very long periods of time.
I had a really unprofessional plumber come here and did not do anything to fix the issue. It took a month and a half to get a different plumber to come back out, but they didn't get a different plumber. They sent the same guy and he was a complete jerk. He still didn't fix the problem. There have been plenty of times that AA Dependable Appliance has come out. The most recent was for the dryer and the guy fixed that on the spot. The cooktop's been the main thing. It just doesn't work. It has error messages. They had already ordered two new parts and they didn't work. As the guy was walking out the door, he said, "There's one more part that may work, but I'm not really sure. We'll have to talk to American Home Shield." The cooktop is 11 years old. I called American Home Shield and told them, "You all might want to consider replacement. I know that's not optimum, but you're going to keep spending money on parts perhaps." It didn't go anywhere 'cause the next thing I heard was that a new part was coming on December 7th. I'm beside myself with frustration. I haven't been able to cook for eight weeks.
We've been hassling. They found a company that works on the brand but I couldn't get an appointment for two weeks. They came and hadn't shown by 4:00. I decided I better call them to see if they were en route but the phone number was no longer active. They went out of business. I called American Home Shield, they put me over to the contract department, and they got the same result. So then, we started all over with another company. We've tried all these different parts. I couldn't do Thanksgiving dinner this year. I can't do Christmas dinner for that matter. I'm in the process of trying to sell my house and I can't sell a house with a stove that doesn't work.
I would like American Home Shield to take into consideration the fact of continually replacing parts and leaving the customer stranded on something critical that's needed in the home in order to avoid replacement. I don't know what's changed, but what has changed for me in this year is there must be call centers around the world, not just in the United States. I'm getting people that are difficult to understand. I think sometimes they have difficulty understanding me because there's a language barrier. That's been very frustrating to me. The other thing that's frustrating is I hate that every time I say something, they go, "I understand totally, ma'am. I'm so sorry." I would hear that 15 times in a three-minute conversation. I just want to pull my ear out.

So just put it in the bottom of the dishwasher." I've recommended to all of my children who own homes that if they're going to get a home warranty, they should get it through AHS. One of my sons had a home warranty through someone else and was not happy at all, so I told him that.

The guy from Sigmond Plumbing didn't wait around long enough to make sure that the toilet was running. Also, the guy was pretty arrogant to my mom. He said at least we can still flush it and left. I had to call them out for the third time and I went in there. He had somebody else with him, which I'm assuming was his supervisor by the way they were acting, and he was totally different. He just needed to adjust the chain. It was something minor that he could've taken care of the first time. But everything's fixed now and it's all okay. I like AHS and it's great for what we need right now.

AHS had a good price that covered appliances and my major items. I made that mistake on the company I had before and when I looked, it cost me less to cover both units with AHS than it did to cover just one. So, I went with them. Submitting a claim with them was very easy, too. I appreciate that I did it online recently and I would get a text acknowledging that I had submitted it. One of the times that we had a tech come out was a follow-up visit because the first time the techs came out, they thought it was something loose then the appliance broke again. They diagnosed it, then fixed it. So, I wasn't charged for the follow-up and it was very good. Some techs also came out for the heating system and they were very fast in responding. As soon as the equipment arrived, they came very quickly and installed it. So I was very appreciative and my house is warmer now.
Thanks for your feedback. We love to hear when we have provided fast and professional service. And we are always here if you need us

The ice maker on our refrigerator wasn't working and the dryer was making a horrible squealing noise. There were two claims that were put in and they were very easy to do. There were two different contractors and they were very good, especially for the folks who came out for the dryer, which was South Valley Appliance. They're very professional, very courteous and helpful. The one who did the dryer worked right then and there. The other one for the refrigerator had to make a couple of trips to get parts. Everything's working fine now.

My whole pool filter system would not filter. I did the claim to American Home Shield online. It was easy. I got an email and a text. The techs were great. We got another claim in for our dryer right now and it's just that they're waiting on parts because of COVID. But there's nothing AHS can do or the contractor. I've been with AHS for over a decade, and they're great.

The serviceman who came here and worked on it was fair and did a good job. They came out but they didn't have the correct part. They got it two days later and they were able to come out that day and fix our dryer. They did a great job.
A couple of years ago, someone came out to fix the washing machine and that was an absolute disaster. But that was not AHS' fault. It was the fault of the guy who came out. He was a total jerk and was not professional. He was not polite nor was he a nice person. It was such a bad experience that I called AHS and told them they shouldn't use those people because they were terrible. But from this last visit, everything was great.

I was having problem with the heating and air conditioning. The HVAC people called for the job and when they came in, they said that it was an electrical problem. Then, AHS called JT's Electrical Services for the job and they came in. They were really wonderful in scheduling the appointment and their rep, Debbie, was awesome. In fact, she was more helpful than American Home Shield. Then, the techs had to come back again because the system went out again the very next day.
I was trying to get in touch with American Home Shield but I could not. I called JT's Electrical Services back, then Debbie called American Home Shield and got everything taken care of. After that, the technician came and he was very helpful. He did a great job and he was very thorough. But the system went out again and they were unable to get a part before two weeks. Debbie followed up and called back to make sure because American Home Shield wasn't doing a good job.
So I'm in my house with no heat with small children and my elderly father. And at this point, I'm not very happy with that. But JT Electrical Services did a great job and they did the job that American Home Shield should have been doing. Debbie called me back even if she did not have to do that. She also got American Home Shield on the phone at the same time and did what she could from her end. But this has been going on for two weeks now and I'm getting a cold. We've had below freezing temperatures the last three nights and it was 29 degrees.
I've asked for a supervisor to call me and AHS told me they would have a supervisor call me. But that was last week and no one has called me. I called them yesterday and again asked for supervisor but there was none. The girl told me that I just have to wait and it seems to me that when the call was put in, it was put in as expedited. But two weeks is not what I call expediting anything and I don't understand why they can't order a part overnight.
We're in the United States where you can ship things overnight. So they're telling me that they're shipping it the cheapest way that you can ship it and that it's going to take 14 days to get here. We're in our winter season now and that's heartless. They could have even asked me if I would pay the cost to ship it over and I would pay the cost to ship it overnight than to have my children and my dad sitting in a cold home. But they didn't even give me that option. So, I'm amazed at the lack of their concern. Aside from that, I left AHS before and came back to give them another chance. But they're a terrible company and they don't honor what they say. I've also recommended so many people to them and they've had problems as well.
I have another call out for AHS that they are dragging their heels on as well. It's a plumbing issue and they gave me the big runaround. There were two leaks in my home in my bathroom and when I called them, I said my ceiling was leaking behind the wall somewhere. It was leaking because the water was leaking out into my foyer and my rug was soiled. And it's ruined now because it's been two weeks. That claim was supposed to be expedited as well. They sent someone in to do the job and when they came in, they cut a hole out in my ceiling and they saw the leak there. But they said they couldn't repair what was going on behind the wall because they didn't have the tools to get back there to see what was going on.
So American Home Shield called someone else and when they came in, they fixed the leak in the ceiling. But they didn't fix whatever was going on behind the wall, which is amazing to me because in order for you to get to that bathroom, you have to walk through my foyer where you can see the carpet is wet and starting to mold along the floor board. I also explained to them that when you go into the bathroom, you can see the puckering behind the mirror. So something is going on back there. But the techs only fixed a pipe where the previous contractor had cut out and left a hole in the ceiling. Then they said that they don't close it up. So, I had to call a contractor to replace the drywall.
I asked my husband if the water was spraying when they opened up the ceiling and he said it wasn't. But that doesn't explain why the wall is still wet, there's still water, and the carpet is still not drying. When the contractor came in for the drywall, he touched the wall and his hand went through the wall. That was how wet it was. So, he cut out the piece of the wall where the water had been seeping into the foyer and said that I had a leak back there. So from the 23rd of November, the water is still dripping behind there.
I called AHS yesterday and told them that the techs didn't fix the problem, only a part of it. Their rep then said that that would be another call. But I told her that it's not a separate call, it's the same call. Because when I called in, I said to them that there was a leak in the ceiling and something was going on behind the wall but no one addressed what was going on behind the wall. Apparently, the agent who took the call only wrote that there was a leak in the ceiling and it was causing secondary problems. When I asked her to read what their notes said, she said the leaks have not been fixed because the first contractor did not have the tools to fix the leaks. So I told her that if their notes said leaks, in plural, why was she trying to charge me for a separate call. She then said that that was just how they say it.
I was on the phone with her for almost an hour and she refused to put a supervisor on the phone. She put me on hold as well and I know that tactic. They put you on hold, come back again, put you on hold, and come back again. That tactic only adds insult to injury. Then, she was telling me to give them 24 hours because they have to listen to the tapes and a supervisor would call me. But today is the end of the 24 hours and I haven't heard from anyone. I have a pail there and towels trying to catch the water because I need that wall to dry out as mold is starting to form.
Aside from that, when I called to place the call for the plumbing issue, they told me they'd be sending out Price Right. But when my husband learned that they'd be coming, he told me that they were the ones who came out a year or so ago and did the terrible job. He said the guy was very rude and that the techs left but didn't finish the job and it was a mess. So I called AHS back and asked if it was possible to use another contractor. I told them that we had a bad experience with Price Right and we didn't want to use them. The rep said they if they scheduled someone else, we had to pay to put in another call for another contractor, then they'd refund our money. But no one had even called me yet to schedule what day they were coming out and AHS could just give the order to another contractor at that point. But she said no, so I paid again and waited for the refund on the previous call.
When JT Electrical called and they came out the second day, the woman from JT Electrical called American Home Shield and asked for the order. She said they were going see what was going on there to make sure it was not electrical. She said she was pretty sure that their guy fixed it, but they were going to double-check because we have young children in the home and an elderly person. She said she wanted to make sure that they did all that they could do and there was no, "Okay, let me get another $100 from this family." It was like she worked for American Home Shield. She took care of all of the scheduling issue, then she made sure that she had her people call Legum's, the HVAC people, explain what they had done, and then, them talking amongst themselves, determined that it was an HVAC problem now. I was amazed and speechless because she did not have to do that.
But here was American Home Shield who wanted to charge me again to place a call that they never fully activated to begin with. Then, when I asked who they'd be using for my claim, they said they were going to use Price Right and that we couldn't change the people. So they just took another $100 from me and they were still using Price Right anyway, but they haven't refunded me the first $100 that I paid. I have never been treated so terribly and now I am going to reach out to the corporate office. I will also never recommend them to anyone else again and I'm going to post on social media about the terrible service.
Other than that, the techs came back to shut the heat and said it was leaking carbon monoxide. I told AHS that every year, we'd have a problem with this heater. Clearly, that furnace is not working well, so I asked why don't they just replace it. They said that as long as they can fix it, they'll fix it. Also, I don't know what part they're going to get, but I'm not going to feel comfortable knowing that the furnace was leaking carbon monoxide.
Are you still in need of assistance?

When I had a frozen line in my freezer, a nice gentleman came out and took care of it. He did it in one day. However, I’ve had some back and forth with what AHS covers and what they don't. We also had miscommunication. The problem is some of their vendors that they suggest aren't available. I have another property that I used them for. They had to take the cabinet off to get to the part. They couldn't fix it but they never came to put the cabinet back on so I had to put the cabinet back together myself. That was kind of a bum deal. I called American Home Shield on it and they said that was up to the vendor. I called the vendor and they said, “As far as we're concerned, the claim has been closed and we're not coming out,” so there I was having to put the screws back into the side of the cabinet which I'm capable of doing but that's not what I pay for.

He was here for about 35 minutes tops. So, it was a good experience.
As soon as the builder's warranty ran out in the house that we live in now, we got American Home Shield. We had it in our last home prior to that. It’s nice to be able to have somebody you can call and get something fixed whenever it inevitably goes wrong, especially when dealing with the house. They charge their monthly fee. They did bump the service call cost of it. It used to be like $60 or $70 and they bumped it up to $100. But usually, if somebody's gonna come out and fix some of those issues, some are pretty expensive. So, that $100 really isn’t that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

I've had three claims at about three months and every time, I say thank God we have the American Home Shield. We had Sears which had became extremely horrible. Compared to Sears, I am extremely pleased with American Home Shield. We had a claim for the washer and it took under two weeks to get the replacement in. The workers were very professional. They were here under 25 minutes to remove the old washer and install the new one. That was a good experience. When the refrigerator upstairs stopped getting cold, the repairman had to make two visits. The first time he came, he was under 25 minutes. He had to order a part and came back within a two-week time period. It took him, again, under 25 minutes.
For each one of the repair people who came, they were very professional with their masks. I've never had to ask one of them to put on their mask. They didn't take it off. It wasn't under their nose or on their chin. It was covering their nose and their mouth area the whole time they were here. It was raining that day when the first repairman came and he put on the foot covers along with his mask at the door.
If it wasn't for the lady on the commercial riding down the street talking about her AC gone, I don't think we would have gotten American Home Shield. We were shopping and her commercials kept standing out in my mind. The advertisement to get them was good and the service has been great except for the the 800 number call in. It is impossible to get in with the call in. They're not picking up at all and that's terrible because some people, especially elders, don't necessarily know how to use the website. But during the pandemic, I do understand. I'm not mad about it.

I love American Home Shield, I've been with them before and I've never had a problem. I had an issue the first time recently. The tech that came out fixed everything but told me he had to wait to get approval to fix the wire outside. I said, “But that’s still electrical.” He didn't really start till it rained real bad. I didn't argue with the guy, cause I told him, work was done on the house a year ago. But my plug just started working last week. I said, “that pipe was bent like that, when I first bought this house.” He said, “Looks like some loose wires here."
He disconnected the plug for me so it won't short the other side. It wasn't covered, so, I just said, I'd just get that fixed, myself. But the guy that came and did my dryer yesterday was really great. He cleaned up after himself and he was really quick and very courteous. AHS is a good plan to have because you don't have to go around searching for contractors. It's also a one-time fee for each issue. I really recommend it. But it will be helpful for them to educate the technicians. Some of them ask what's covered and what's not. They have to make a diagnosis, but it leaves the customers hanging when they're telling the truth about something and then that issue still doesn't get fixed.

They determined the part that needed to be ordered and they ordered it. Then, they came back and fixed it. I wish the part could be delivered more quickly but I was pretty happy with how they handled it. It was an overall good experience.

We had a leak on a damaged kitchen pipe and the contractor was able to fix it. They were excellent and very professional. They came in with masks and covers for their shoes so, their protocol for COVID was great. My husband and I were very pleased. We have had experiences in the past with American Home Shield and we've always had good luck. Things have always been covered and what’s not covered is clear from the contract. The experience with AHS was superior and the plumber was wonderful.

The contractor was out here a couple weeks ago and he worked on the furnace and got it running. It ran fine for two weeks and then, it did what it wanted when it wanted. There's a problem with the furnace that none of the people I've talked to seemed to know how to deal with, including the people that installed the system. Somebody needs to get ahold of York who's the manufacturer and find out if this is an ongoing issue. My daughter and son-in-law have American Home Shield. They've always been, "If we can't fix it, we'll replace it." I like the feeling of that warranty. I had a faucet repaired by a different vendor for AHS and all went smoothly but that's the only other problem I've had in almost two years of paying $52 a month. AHS has been a little bit beneficial.

Foster's Heating and Air was sent by American Home Shield and they were fantastic. They made a temporary fix that was working while they waited for a part to come in. In less than a week, they got the part and then came out and fixed it, so it was a permanent fix. But it did work in the meantime.

Realty Rekey was really great. The technician was very professional and he did the job in no time. He was in and out and it was a very adequate service. We recently had an issue with our dishwasher and so we had another claim with American Home Shield. We had them come out for the furnace inspection, too. As far as the dishwasher, we thought the tech fixed it. He has to come back out next Tuesday because after he left and we tried to use it and turn it on, it wasn't turning on. He seemed really great and professional, and it seemed like it worked after he left, and then, the minute he left, it didn't work. Overall, AHS has been really great and really helpful and hopefully, we continue to have good, positive experiences overall with them.

I was standing at the kitchen sink, and there was water on the floor. I'd wiped it off. Then, the next time I go out there, I realized there was water on the floor again. When I opened up the doors, everything under the sink was sitting in water. I called American Home Shield. The tech that they assigned called me immediately. They came out within a couple of hours. I thought it was in the pipe, but it was the disposal.
He had trouble getting the right size disposal. Ours was a five and he happened to have a three. I told him I didn't want to go with something less. So, he went out to Lowe's and over to Home Depot, and there wasn't anything on the shelves. He was able to run up the store and ended up getting something down for him. He was able to do it, he came back and installed it. He was the nicest technician we've ever had. He was very professional and very polite. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I've tried going online several times when submitting a claim with AHS, but somehow, it doesn't work. So, it's easier to call it in. Then, the recording gives me the confirmation number and the phone number of who’s gonna take care of it. We have used AHS quite a few times at our old house and here. I used to get the newsletter. I did it for three years in our neighborhood. We live in Herring Bay. To me, to be able to have the security that this plan offers, that's what sells it. Knowing that you can just call, someone will come out and they stand behind the work. There are so many people in our neighborhood that now use them because of our recommendation.

I had a recent claim to American Home Shield for an AC repair. It was pretty quick and easy. It turned out to be just a loose wire. The tech came out and was here for two minutes, had it fixed, and left. The AC has been working fine. The claims submission process was pretty good. You fill it out online, you pay your $75, and then they contact you.
We've also had a pool pump claim, and then we had a dishwasher claim. We've had another AC issue a couple of years ago, but that also was kind of back and forth because the compressor was under a manufacturing warranty. That one got kind of expensive because they had to take all the Freon out and American Home Shield didn't cover what the Freon would cost. So, it's been kind of hit and miss. Some of the experience were better than others. The air conditioner was pretty quick and easy. They didn't have to replace anything. The dishwasher was the worst because it was back and forth for about four times. It didn't get fixed on the first, second, or third visit, but they ended up figuring out what it was.
Generally, American Home Shield is pretty good. I don't know that I would do without it, but it's nice to have it in case something happens. I'm always worried that if it got down to like replacing the air conditioner, would they do it or what it would end up costing me to do it. When they were doing the air compressor, as an example, it was a pretty new unit. They came in, they didn't want to work on it because they said it wasn't installed to code, but it was. So, we had this back and forth. Still, overall, I like having it just to cover the expense of it.

We've made a lot of claims and we've only had issues with two of them. Sometimes it varies in what you can get and how fast the service is, but for the most part, the service is fine. Getting the service set up is fine as well. One issue I had was when I had a sump pump failure and it was an emergency. The homeowners came and got it out of the water, but it took a little longer for the sump pump to get replaced by American Home Shield 'cause it was covered. I had to get it on my own, and then they reimbursed me.
It was an issue because I had a dual sump pump and they only wanted to pay for the main sump pump, not the back-up. Both my back-up and main sump pump failed, so I had to explain to them why. That's just one out of dozens of claims though. It's very simple to submit claims. I either call in or go online. Recently, we had a low voltage come into the house and the claim was handled very well. Overall, American Home Shield is good. That's why I keep them.
American Home Shield is advertising a lot, but they need to clarify who qualifies for it. There needs to be clear communication on marketing their product. There's something in their paperwork that says you have to get American Home Shield within 60 days of you purchasing a new house, which is what we did for this house we're in now. However, a friend of mine wanted to get it too, but I didn't know if he could get American Home Shield 'cause he's an already existing homeowner. Home Shield needs to clarify if they cover people who buy the home immediately or is it something they can get while they've owned for some time already.

The heater wouldn't kick on from the thermostat. If the temperature dropped to the point where the heater needs to kick on, I would hear it working but the fan and the heating unit wouldn't blow anything. The guy from US Air Conditioning of Texas came out the same day I put the ticket in with AHS and it took him 10 minutes to fix the unit. It was great. He had to replace an auto-starter, which activates the heater whenever it gets to the time it needs to kick on. He went out to his truck, got a new part, came back in, and put it in. It was super-fast. I couldn't have asked for a better service this time. With plumbing, though, it was a different story.
We had an issue where our hot water heater was leaking pretty significantly. I put a ticket in and they generally will go straight to a particular plumber but that plumber wasn't going to be able to come out for like two weeks. They told me that they had asked American Home Shield to not give them tickets because they were so backed up but AHS continued to keep giving them tickets. I had to contact American Home Shield and tell them the plumber cannot make it quick enough. They went and found another plumber but that plumber wasn't able to come out for about five days.
Then, a few weeks after that, we had a drain problem under the house. We put in another ticket and they sent my ticket straight back to the same plumber who asked not to be given tickets. It was another issue where water was leaking under the house and it wasn't going to be two and a half weeks before they would be able to come. For urgent matters, there could be some improvements made by AHS. But other than that, anytime I have something that needs to get fixed, it gets fixed. And the prices are reasonable. Even my issues with the plumbing still got fixed. I have no problems recommending those guys. It was a totally good service and I love having American Home Shield. We shopped around before we chose one whenever we were buying the house and they were the best.

We would call American Home Shield when submitting a claim and they would usually refer us right away to an outside agency. They would put in the order to them and then, I would wait for an hour. I would call the agency and they would email me what time they would be coming over. It was a very painless process. Everything else should be as painless. There was a leak in the garbage disposal so they had to put in a little bit of a washer. The guy was great and on time. He wore a mask and washed his hands. It was perfect. If it wasn't, I would have called him right back.
We’ve had a lot of other experiences with AHS and some were big jobs. We had a claim for the dishwasher and the microwave, which were both replaced and we also had faucets in our bathroom done. Before this guy for the garbage disposal, there was no Covid so they didn't have to wear a mask. So, it was easy to interact with them. But they were very nice and professional. It was a terrific experience with AHS. I live in a high-rise and I always tell people that they should give them a call. They'll replace the appliance if they can't fix it. I always market them to other people and whether or not they listen to me is another story.

Submitting claims has been super easy. I like that part about American Home Shield's system. Air conditioners are different because that's a different class of people that work on air conditioners. Apart from that, I've done plumbing and my refrigerator wasn't covered, but now it is. When we bought the house, there wasn’t one here and we bought a brand-new one. Now, I've done my washer as well. I haven't done my dryer, but if anything happens to my dryer, I'm calling the company that serviced my washer. Other things have been fairly easy to deal with, but the guy who did my washer was super nice. It was not just nice as in friendly, but nice as in he did his job. He knew what he was doing, and he let me know how it was gonna be.
My washer is 10 years old, but it was brand-new when we bought it. The repair guy cared about the temperature in the world right now. He had his mask. He came in. He did the job. He called me when he was finished, or when he had to leave, and then tell me that they would call and tell me they’d come back. He told me this was gonna happen, and then he did it. He didn’t stop until he was finished. He also told me when he had to do something different and then, he followed up. Whatever thing broke on my washer, he didn't have the part when he got here, but he looked to see what it was, found out what it was, then he went and got it.
When he couldn't take off something, he called somebody and they came to help him. When they got the part back, he came and put it on then, something else got loose. He had to order a new part then he came back here. One thing I like about this company more than any other company that American Home Shield has ever sent to me is that I didn't have to call them and say, “When are you coming back?” The guy said, “Oh, yeah, I'll be back. I'm just gonna order a part, and then we'll call and make an appointment.” and then, that company just called me. It wasn't like I was worried. Also, continuity of care is important in anything you do and that guy was the same one who came out every time. There was never a different person.

I had to call several times for my plumbing to be taken care of and I had to get vulgar. I was just so mad. I didn't care what I said. Finally, they got somebody out here. Also, I had a plug that caught on fire and I didn't know how far the burnt was. I was afraid to go to sleep. I couldn't get through AHS so I called an outside contractor. We had some leaking faucets and the tub was stopped up. Dave's Plumbing fixed everything while they were here and they did great. They were professional and they were amazing. I gave them a good rating on the survey I got too. Hopefully, if I ever have another issue, they'll be the ones that are called out because they were quick and professional. They were perfect. On the other hand, American Home Shield sucks right now. I've been waiting for five months for my refrigerator to be fixed and I’ve escalated it three times.
I set up the refrigerator claim on July 2nd, and GE came out on the 4th of July. The guy told us we needed to have our freezer door replaced. He fixed one thing because it was leaking water, and then he did something with that. He said he would have to order the part and told me he’d set up an appointment to come back in two weeks. GE called me and left a message. They told me that the refrigerator door was on backorder, and they were going to cancel that appointment. Once it came to my house, reschedule. That was in July. Since then, the refrigerator door is still on backorder. Now, they're saying it can be shipped December 30th.
After three months, we started calling and calling. We call them every two or three days. It’s that bad. Last week, we spoke to an escalation person and they told us that they were going to send the claim over to do a buyout because it's taking too long to get the part. They just need to replace the refrigerator, and that we should call back the next day. That was on Tuesday, so we called back Wednesday like they told us. They said, “Oh, nothing’s in here. It hasn't been approved. Call back on Thanksgiving Day. We’re open.” We called on Thanksgiving Day and nothing was in the system. Imagine how frustrated we are.
I’ve had other stuff, like with Dave's Plumbing, perfect. If it's something like the plumbing stuff, it has been on point. I had another plumbing thing and American Home Shield sent someone else. We had no problem as well. American Home Shield is being inconsistent though. They have us sitting in limbo while they're not doing anything. They don't call back either. Although GE is not responding to them, that's not our problem (as we've told them). We don't have a contract with GE. We have one with American Home Shield. At some point, they have to do something. Because now, my refrigerator is leaking water and they're gonna have to replace my floor because the water is pooling up on our hardwood floor under the refrigerator. It's bad.
We called back this morning, and the lady was very empathetic, but all the people that answered the phone can do nothing. They said they can't transfer to a supervisor. Their excuse is that it’s COVID. Everybody's working from home. They don't have the option to transfer you. They'll leave a message or send something and someone should call you back, but no one has ever called us back. It's been a mess, and we're tired of it. At this point, I'm gonna write a letter to the Better Business Bureau, because it's becoming like a thing. It's ridiculous.
We've had to call American Home Shield about 15 to 20 times now and they keep telling us that the manager or escalation analyst will call us back. This five-month refrigerator issue overshadows everything because they're giving us the runaround. That's the problem. I can't be the only consumer that’s going through that and I documented how many times I've called them.

Thank you for providing us with insight about your most recent service experience and the issues to have the refrigerator repaired. I owuld be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

The experience wasn’t good at first. AHS sent a contractor who did a terrible job. It looked like a bunch of kids came in and started fooling around and didn't know how to weld, left chips and stuff all over the place, and used the wrong stuff to put two pipes together. You always have to be worried about interaction between two different metals and there's a lot of material that when you put two pipes together, depending on what the two pipes are made of, you use a certain kind of a sealant. They even used the wrong type of sealant there.
I called and complained about it. AHS did send some other company out who corrected the problem at no extra cost to me so I would give them kudos for that. It did cost me more than it should though because the things that this other contractor said they needed to do, AHS said that it was not covered or was above and beyond what they cover for that kind of thing. I ended up having to pay a few hundred extra dollars and it turned out it didn’t really need to be done. I would never use them as a contractor.
I had a notice that the policy was up for renewal so I went ahead, renewed and paid in full for the whole year. But a week and a half later, I had these problems just before the new contract went into effect. I guess AHS charges whatever they spend on the old contract but the process is easy. You got to expect now with covid that AHS doesn't have as many people working for them. So if you had to be on the phone waiting a little bit longer, you got to deal with it.

So far, I've been very pleased with AHS. This past call, it was the fourth time I had had someone here for the same unit. The first one, I was unhappy with it all because they wanted to find a quick fix and get rid of me. But the people who came this last time were wonderful. The last two times were the same company and I was very pleased with them. They showed up right on time. They were really good and respectful about keeping the house clean and watching their feed. Both of them confirmed that what we had said to begin with was wrong with the unit. They said, “This is ridiculous that we're doing quick fixes.” They went ahead and replaced the motor which was the problem. I was very happy with it. Everything's fine with AHS. It would just be nice if the companies themselves could get to us a little bit sooner.

My recent claim with AHS was for my furnace. There was a sensor that wasn't telling the heat to come on. I didn't have any difficulty with submitting a claim with AHS. I had my paperwork, I called them and they set it up as quickly as I could. I was without heat for three days because of it. The lady at American Home Shield tried really hard to call around and get people to come sooner. Then I called the Detroit Heating and Cooling to see if they could come sooner too but they just couldn't because it's that time of year. If that timeline could have been brought down, that would have been more convenient. But I have no complaints given the current situation. The tech that came was great. He was on time. He was super kind and courteous too. He fixed the sensor and he got it running in 10 minutes or less.

Something happened up at the top where the water fills the tank and it was leaking water into the tank when the washer wasn't on. AHS sent out techs to work on it and they were able to fix that very quickly. And it’s been beautiful since. In the past, my wife told me that there's a website to go to for submitting claims with AHS and she also gave me a phone number. We've used both options and both have been very good. Also, every time we've submitted a request, we have someone from AHS who calls to confirm what the issue is. From there, we get a call from whomever is doing the service where they tell us what time their tech will be coming out and if that will work for our schedule. They're always great about that. They always make sure we're going to be available and it’s not going to be something where we're going to have to cancel other appointments.
My interaction with the contractors have always been pleasant, too. We've never had anybody who's been rude and the toughest challenge that I've had was someone having a very thick accent. I just had to have them repeat themselves a couple of times. I'm also partially deaf, so that also feeds into it. But the people in the office who were calling out have always been very polite and the service technicians have been calling to say they're on their way every single time. And everyone's always been very professional.
One time, we had our refrigerator worked on and the tech came out multiple times. His name was Grafton and he was getting bad parts delivered to him. The parts that were shipped out came in warped or damaged, so it was a challenge. We had to find a place to store our frozen foods because the freezer wasn’t working. And we have a new freezer now. Other than that, AHS gives us fast and speedy service. Their response time to us is very quick and the people they provide to give us the service are always top quality. I also recommended AHS to my mom and told her that if she could get the warranty, she should.

I'm happy so far with American Home Shield. I'm trying to get somebody to work on our gas line right now. We're on the third contractor to get someone out here. They should be here today but I haven't gotten a call from them. The first one canceled on us without notifying us. Then a new contractor was assigned. I couldn't get ahold of the second one for over a day. He ended up calling me saying, “I don't work on gas lines.” Then the claim closed. I had to call AHS again and pay another $75 to have a new claim open despite nobody having actually come to the home. They're issuing a refund on their initial $75, but we haven't had heat in a week now. I’ve been trying to get a person to come tighten the pipe.
There was a furnace issue. The contractor worked on it and got the furnace working. But within days, for the first time ever, we started smelling gas from the furnace after the service call. After we smelled the gas, we called the gas company. They came and detected an insane amount of gas coming out of there right after the furnace company was here. So, they cut our gas line because it’s gonna make our house explode. So, we don't have any gas coming in. We don't have any heat. They put a lock and a block on there and said that we had to get that fixed before they would turn our gas line on.
So, I called the furnace company first because that issue never existed before it was worked on. They came and said they can't do anything while the gas is off to verify the leak is in the furnace. So, we would need to call a plumber to verify there's no leak in the pipe up until the furnace. Then if it leaks in the furnace, that's where their work starts. So then, I issued a second claim for getting a plumber out here just to tighten the pipe and make sure there's no air leaking out of the pipes. Nobody’s come. Today, I called and said, “Please, just send somebody to my house to tighten the pipe. Please. I have toddlers, and they're very cold. So, please get them out here.”

I placed a call for a claim and a technician came out. He walked in, looked at the socket, and walked out without saying anything. Two days later, I get a report saying that the problem was not wear and tear. It had something about being tampered with, which was not true. Just by looking and not even touching, you would not know what the problem is. I called Home Shield and I told them what happened and they said to try a different company and get a second opinion to see if they come back with the same outcome. I was okay with that and the service company was to contact me in a couple of hours. I waited a week and a half but no one contacted me.
I contacted the company and the technician said, "Why haven't I been contacted for the service order?" Home Shield pretty much sent me to someone they didn't even think was reliable. The service fee would be waived on the second opinion but I didn't get the second opinion because Home Shield had them on hold. I called Home Shield back and told them what the situation was. I said, "At this point, this is my first experience with your company and it has not been pleasant at all. I would like to cancel." The rep begged me not to and that he would send out a third company without the deductible. That sounded fair. But if that didn't work out, I still wanted to cancel.
City First came out, went around, and did this and that. The tech told me he needed to remove some drywall if he had my permission because he needed to get into that wire that was behind that wall to fix it. I gave my permission. He then needed to get the company's permission. He said Home Shield would contact me in a couple of days and I was fine with that. But no one contacted me. I called Home Shield to ask what was going on. They told me what the report said. I couldn't understand how it was that the tech put on the report that the damage was due to a screw or a nail on the wire. I wasn't pleased with the report for the reason being that what was honored was incorrect. He was unable to get to the wire because he needed to open a wall. I couldn't understand how he could determine something like that. But that led to American Shield to not approve the repair.
When I called the service company, the person there told me that the report would be modified and that portion would be removed. They would get back to Home Shield with a new report. But I told them, "That's not going to work. How are you going to modify a report and then send it back when you already said something." I called Home Shield. Now, they're asking me for the deductible, which they said they would not charge me for and they're charging me for the monthly fee when I canceled my policy. This policy was just activated in October. I do not recommend American Home Shield. I told the representative when I was on the phone with them, "I understand it's not your fault. You're just the representative. But the contractors that work for this company make no effort at all."
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Atchley Air made the appointment to come out very quickly. Then, the technician contacted me before he arrived to let me know he was en route. He got here the time he said he was going to arrive and introduced himself. He diagnosed the issue very quickly and solved the issue in that same visit. It was an excellent experience. American Home Shield got the claim sorted super quickly and the contractor that they assigned to it did a great job.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

My laminate floors all coming up. I don't understand why they couldn't have had somebody out when it's an emergency.

AHS has been beneficial especially for the garage door. When the garage door guys came and handled everything, it was quick, easy and awesome. But I'm not real happy about the stove people from Sears. The guy came and looked at it. He was very pleasant. He made an appointment for the 30th but the 30th went and there was no word. The next day, I called and the gal said, "They're waiting for the part. We won't schedule the appointment till you get the part." He never said anything about that. Then she tried to sell me some kind of full house coverage. I was not happy. I'm still waiting for the part and I have no idea when it's coming or what even. Hopefully, it will be coming.

In some cases, using the warranty with AHS has really worked out for me. But in other cases, it hasn't. Still, I'll continue to maintain American Home Shield and I have five properties with them. They recently sent out techs to service my pool and everything was just as expected from the pool deal. The tech did excellent work, too. But American Home Shield has a terrible wait time on their phone calls and if you ever want to talk to anybody in person, you might as well forget it. I've also been on hold for hours before. But their online stuff is really good.

When I tried to call American Home Shield to file a claim, they said it would be an hour wait. That part was not good because I wanted to ask some questions before I actually decided what to do. But the wait time would have been way too long, so I just went online and figured it out. I don't get to speak with anyone and so I have a limited amount of options about what I would like to have them do for me.
I had the inspection on the air conditioner and furnace that Beaches Air Conditioning came out for and I thought they did a really good job. The guy was thorough. He checked it all over and it's in good working condition. It's just that not a huge amount of air comes out of the air ducts. But he said they were in good condition. He told me that I could have somebody who specializes in ductwork come out and look at it if I wanted to. I thought they were the people that did that. He looked at it, but what it felt like to me was if there had been something wrong with it, I wouldn't know whether they were gonna fix it or if I would have to get someone else. We're trying to decide right now whether we want to renew the warranty so it might be a good thing to call American Home Shield.

There was a wall plug where the socket had burnt out and I was able to call it in. The electrician was very professional. He did a great job. But for the call before that when I had my stove, I was very upset. There were three gentlemen and they were not coming in. I told them which way to come into my house. They said, “No. This is the way we’re going in.” He told me, “We’re going through the front door.” I said, “You go this way. You can take the stove in.” They just turned around and left the stove in the middle of my driveway. They put it out in the rain and I installed it myself.
I called American Home Shield but I couldn’t reach them to make the complaint. I called the gentleman and that gentleman acted like he'd get back to me. He played it off. I told him, “If I ever have problem with electrical and your company’s name comes up, I’m gonna tell them, “No way.” If American Home Shield uses them still, they’re bad. They are very not professional.
I’ve been dealing with American Home Shield for years. They were always good. Outside that experience I had with them, everything was fine. We’re very satisfied with the way they do things. When we moved down here, there was another company that my wife recommend. I told her we’d go with American Home Shield ‘cause we know what it’s like with them. I would recommend them to any individual. I even got my mother-in-law take them and also my brother-in-law to take them recently. My neighbor across the street got them which I recommended. The person next door sold her house for another house and she took American Home Shield. They were satisfied too.
Even though we go through these problems with the pandemic, it was very good that I could reach American Home Shield. There are a lot of companies that you can’t reach right away. When I made the call, the young lady stayed on the phone, took the information and got back with me right away. When I made this other claim, it was a little longer. It was a different person. But this young lady was very professional. I was on the phone maybe a half hour but she got all the information right then I got the information right after that. Normally, it’s like the next day until somebody contacts me. She gave me the contact of the electrician right away so everything was good.

I feel secure having something like American Home Shield and paying that monthly premium that when things happen, there's a company that is easy to deal with that's not gonna run me through the mill and back to try to get out of the claims. They stand behind what they put out there to be. Not everybody does that. It's really good to have that and they've really helped out a lot. Had it been just me taking care of some of the issues, it would have been a lot worse. I'm very grateful that it's not. Submitting claims is pretty simple and I don't have any complaints, other than the time of how stuff goes. But AHS is really good at taking care of this stuff. I've called them on the weekends and late at night and they've answered the phone. They've been wonderful and great. Recently, my furnace wasn't acting right. Crispy Air & Heating came out and they did what they needed to do and fixed the problem.

The pool pipes were leaking. There was water coming out of the pipes in a slow drip. J N J Pools came out, and they fixed that. They had to come out twice to do it. I did the claim to American Home Shield on the online website. It's pretty user-friendly. I've submitted a couple of claims through the home warranty, and within 24 hours, the company will call to schedule the appointment. What's pretty cool about the website is it'll actually give you the vendor’s name and phone number. I had a bit more of an emergency once where as soon as I submitted the claim, I picked up the phone and called them, and they would immediately see the open ticket. For the most part, I have been very satisfied with the people that have come out.

American Home Shield is worth it especially if you're homeowners. I've run into trouble before and they've kind of bailed me out. Elite Electric Solutions came out recently and I was very satisfied. The two techs were very thorough and explained everything to us. They fixed the problem of my electrical dryer under 30 minutes. They were timely, professional and had their masks. They were practicing safety as well. However, when I do a claim online, I can't be as detailed so I like to call in. It's always better to call in.

We've been with American Home Shield for many years. We had them in our house in California and in Florida. It was terrible in Florida. We had an issue with the one dealing with the air conditioning. But it was fine in California and it has been fine here in Virginia. We had a recent experience with JR Plumbing & Mechanical Services for our garbage disposal. We didn't know that there was a hole underneath it. They stuck a wrench in there, turned it, and it worked again. They left us the tool and showed us how to do it.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

I turned my heater on the 19th. I had heat. We had warm days. So, I didn’t notice anything. But last Monday, cold air came in, and this unit was blowing cool air. So, I called American Home Shield and they referred me to who they contracted out, which was Myers. I called Myers. They couldn't come see me until Thursday. The guy came on Thursday and he was real nice. He said there was a stuck valve. He cleaned it out and said he fixed it. I had heat on Thursday.
On Friday, the house was cool. I went on to work. I don't get home from work until around 8 o'clock Thursday night, and the house was cold. So, I called the number and I got an answering machine that told me they have office hours on Saturday. I left a message about my problem. On Saturday morning, I didn't hear from them. I called again and their office hours state that they're open from 8:00 to 5:30 on Saturdays. I didn't hear anything.
I placed another service request with American Home Shield because it was the same issue. On Sunday, I suffered through no heat. This morning, I got up at around 8:30. I called them because I kind of expected them to listen to their messages and make the phone calls. They said, “Well your unit’s fixed, and you're supposed to pay us a maintenance agreement for $149.” I'm said, “No, no, no. You're supposed to come out here and fix it. And heat, for one, that’s just not fixed. I'm sorry. I can't believe that you called as fixed when I had heat for one day. That's not fixed.” The person said, “Well, it has it here that you're supposed to pay for a service, for a maintenance agreement for service on your unit, and that there's nothing wrong with the unit.” I told her, “No, he didn't have this conversation with me ‘cause it would have been a whole different conversation Thursday if he had.”
I said, “He wrote on my paperwork that I can have a maintenance service with them for fall and spring $449. That's what he told me. Y'all need to come fix it. The issue was it was blowing cold air. You haven't fixed that.” She said, “Well, you have to have a maintenance service with us for that to be fixed.” So, I called American Home Shield back. They told me that they would call them. They called them and they got the same load of crap that I got that it needs to be a maintenance service for them to come out, and for me to come out and pay for a maintenance service on my heater. But that was not what my warranty was. I've been without heat for a week. I have a broken foot, and I'm in a house with no heat.
I told American Home Shield, “Y'all need to fight it out. I'm the one that doesn't have heat. You either make them come out here and fix it, give me somebody else, or give me my money back and I'll call somebody else.” At this point I'm like, “Even if they came back out here, can I trust what they're doing to be reputable work?” They just want me to pay $149 for a maintenance service. I don't even consider their ethics to be very true.
I've had other experiences with American Home Shield. My microwave messed up. Someone came out, fixed it and I had no problems there. I had a problem with my toilet. Somebody came out and fixed it and I have no problems there, too. My experiences with American Home Shield have been great. My experiences with other repair people coming to my home has been great. I would recommend American Home Shield to someone else. On the phone, they have been very courteous and professional. They've been prompt and have taken care of me. I'm hoping they can get my issue with Myers resolved, though. They need to do something because Myers is being very unethical. Telling me I need to pay for maintenance service and there's nothing wrong with the unit is ridiculous.
