When I have a claim, I submit it to AHS through the link that they sent on my email or on the app on my phone. Recently, I filed one for a plumbing issue and they sent a tech from Prime Plumbing. He came out in a couple of days and there were some scheduling issues, but that was not really on their part but our part. My experience with him was good but he really didn't have to do anything. He came in and said that what we thought was happening wasn't happening and that we didn't have a leak. He said it was incorrect caulking and he was here for 10 minutes.

The contractor found the washer's leak right away. A little hose had come off and he fixed it.

American Home Shield has been with us when we bought the house. We've had the warranty for a year and a half. I think that was just part of the contract, then it dropped off, and then I don't know when my husband planned this up again. We'll probably never be without it now. R & R Appliances came for my washing machine. I just got online on the AHS website to submit the claim. I reached out to the tech and he came out the next day. He looked at it and ordered a part. It came one day later than we were expecting but that had nothing to do with the tech. He installed it, but something else in the washing machine broke that was not fixable. He said that he would have to submit whatever he needed to for us to get a replacement washer. I was happy and satisfied. People should get the AHS warranty.

The contractor who came for my electric issue was professional and got the repair done. The fact that he was able to come in, get things diagnosed, and get it fixed really quickly was a great relief. But I would like to see AHS provide quicker turnarounds. Contractors come based on your schedule of availability and it took them almost a week to come over. I’m a city kid, so I’m used to everything getting done fast and people being available all the time. But I don’t live in the city now so I could give them the benefit of the doubt. I live in a small town so I can understand not having those professionals on-hand all the time, but we’re only about 45 minutes from the closest city. Although that city’s not that large, at least it’s a decent-sized city, and I know they have professionals there.

I’ve had American Home Shield in this house since July, but I had it before for six years. It was one of my stipulations as a contingency when I closed that I wanted it specifically from American Home Shield. Submitting a claim is pretty straightforward. I usually do it online. My most recent claim was for a dishwasher that wasn’t draining. There was stagnant water in there and it was kinda smelling. It was not pretty. It was great with the vendor but I had to call in a few times because the original person that was supposed to work on it never responded to the ticket. I had to wait a little over a week for it. But the tech was real friendly and didn’t take too long. He figured out what was going on and fixed it right there.

We were having a temperature issue with our water heater. I called AHS and it was good speaking with their rep. She understood what I needed. I was told that the contractors would be in contact with me and SAP Services did within five minutes. It was very quick. The guy came, checked and adjusted it. He did a thorough job. He also told us to use it for a couple of days and let him know if we would still have the issue. We still did, so we called back. It's still having the temperature change but we're just adjusting as we're doing things. It needs to be repaired but we have sufficient hot water until it is repaired. We did have some questions that needed to be clarified but overall, it was good. Anytime we've had an issue, American Home Shield has been quick to respond and has taken care of everything that we've needed.

When I had a leak in the pipes that connected my water heater to the main water line, the contractor who came was very professional, friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. He just replaced the whole part there where it was leaking. He got right on it and did a good job. He worked fast and was out of here after not too long. AHS gets things taken care of quickly and it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I've been with them for about 12 years and I've been happy with their service. And I’ve been trying to talk my son into it, but he’s been stubborn.

I was with American Home Shield years ago then I went with somebody else. I got back with them about three years ago. My brother had a good experience with his air conditioner, which I never seem to have the same kind of good experience. The only people I had a good experience with are my appliances. The guy that fixed the refrigerator, as well as the microwave, was really good, But outside of that, I seem to have really bad luck. I paid $300 out for the pool people and no matter what, they didn't fix the thing. They came out and cleaned the little filter thing, and it goes around for about 10 minutes, and then it stops again. I think it's the pump that's really old and they won't believe me. It might work for a little while while they're there, but then about half an hour later, it sounds like it's working, but it doesn't after that. Then they kept charging me so I'll probably gonna have to hire a pool company that I know is really good that sells my kind of pool.

I've had American Home Shield since 2011 and even though not every experience has been good, the last guy was good. He called before he showed up and he got the job done. There was no messing around. He was very courteous, professional, and on time too. It was great customer service.

I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years and when the microwave over the range used to go in and out on us, I called it in. I did the automated route over the phone and they said I would be called within 24 hours. The contractor came out and tried to fix the problem. They informed us that they weren't sure it was gonna hold, but they were gonna try to repair it because it was an older model. We went out of the area and we thought it was repaired, but when we came back, it still was not working. It won't stay on but we figured maybe it had to reset. A guy came back out and he said he would contact us back about it because the part that he put in was not enough and the unit won't come on at all. Still, American Home Shield is necessary for renters or for owners. I own other properties and it's convenient as a landlord.

I wanted to go with a company that I wouldn't have to fight with. Some of the companies say that if you don’t maintain your air conditioning then they can’t cover this or if you don’t replace your anode rod in your water heater, they may not cover it. So I went with what was easy. Looking at what American Home Shield covers, I decided it was not a bad idea. It was not that too expensive and the reviews I saw made American Home Shield look pretty good. My neighbor had it as well so I thought it might be a good idea.
I've gone online to file one claim and the website was good. Home Shield sent out Sure Temp Air Conditioning and they were there in a reasonable time. They were good. What I had was kinda hard to fix because of the components that they make these days. Our unit was not blowing hot air. We had it on a heat selection and it would just blow cool air, just like outside air. But the tech was able to adapt a generic brand of component and make a fix, and so far, so good.

The tech was very informative, helpful and efficient. The claim went fine. It was very helpful and it was wonderful. He had come out the time before when we had a dishwasher messing up and he remembered that, but we didn't. AHS was in place when we bought our home and we just continued it and we've been happy with the service we've gotten so far. But I wish it wasn't so expensive being that I'm at fixed income now.

I went online and filed a claim to American Home Shield and paid my deductible, and the very next day, they set me up with an appointment for Eklund. They took care of everything I needed. My experience was perfect.

RG Plumbing and Rooter did a fine job. The contractor came in and he automatically saw what was wrong. So, he went about doing his job and he did it fast. My commode was rocking on the floor and he corrected that. He went back and looked at the faucet that I thought was leaking, but he showed me that it was not leaking -- after you turn it off, there is still a little bit of water in the pipe, and it will drip for a minute or two and then it stops. He said it was normal in that type with a spigot that has a neck. He helped me a lot. My son has American Home Shield and he referred me to them. When I submitted my claims, I did them on the telephone, and the interactions I had with their reps are simple.

I've had Home Shield since December the 2nd. I read the reviews on them and I thought that was the best. My recent claim was a no fuss, no muss deal. I contacted Home Shield, they contacted the HVAC company. Within a day, I had somebody out here repairing the unit.

AHS took care of everything we needed for our heating claim. The tech was on time and very friendly. He was a very nice guy. We had some rust in the furnace's pan so he looked at it and said that it was fine. We've been with AHS for six years and whenever we've needed something, they've sent someone quickly.

American Home Shield has gotten bad. I’ve been with them for a long time in this house and then in my other house too. It used to really be a good service. It was really worth the money. However a lot of people they send out now out is what my mom used to call jackleg folks. They're not professional. They do a half job. They come and look at the job. I hate that American Home Shield doesn’t let them go buy the item and put it in. They come back, and it’s two weeks late.
When you need something for your appliances, you don’t need to get the runaround that’s why you paid for this warranty. If you wanted the runaround, you just do it yourself. You could take that money that I paid them every month, put it in some kind of bank account, and be ready to get somebody to come and fix your stuff on the first try rather than just waiting around.
My air conditioning was broken upstairs. They’ve come out but by the time I finished paying for the Freon that goes in, I could’ve hired somebody to do the job. They charged some outrageous price like $50 or $60 a pound for Freon when you can really buy it for $10. That’s ridiculous. The service has gone down. I hate the customer service that we have to call. I know we live in a global world but it’s hard enough to try to tell somebody what's going on face-to-face rather than speaking to someone that has a language barrier. Usually, we get a representative on the phone. I don’t have a problem to talk with an accent, but I can be understood over the telephone. It’s really difficult when you’re trying to explain to someone what's going on and they don’t understand the lingo that we use. It’s very frustrating.
There's a lady that came out from Whirlpool that’s the kind of technicians we wanna see. She came in, did her job, was on time. I get people who say they're on their way, it’d be two hours later. When she said she was gonna be there, she was there. She got the job done on a professional level. I told her that I was gonna call and give her the biggest reference I could because she was the best I had seen in years. Usually with American Home Shield is you have to drag it out to the point that I had been looking for another warranty company. She really kept my business with them. I was “Get American Home Shield when I started this about 20 years ago." I am not now. They’re losing a lot of the good providers because you are trying to bootleg stuff.

I have two homes, so I have two contracts with American Home Shield. I’ve used them many times this year in the end of October to December and it’s just easy. I’ve had American Home Shield since I was a teenager, so I’m always boosting them to everybody. If you’ve got a rental or if you’ve got your own home, I’d advise it. It’s your medical insurance for your appliances and there’s just a copay. In my other house, I had redone a kitchen, and all the appliances went down at the same time. It was like, “Okay, it’s time to fix you all. It’s time for a medical visit.”
Everybody I’ve gotten has been really good too. Recently, I demanded somebody come out a certain day because it was freezing cold and the guy found that there was definitely an issue. Everything went smoothly. He came in, acknowledged it, went back, ordered a part and got it quickly. He came back within a week and fixed the problem. I never needed to use the contractor before and they were efficient. The guy was also the first worker who ever acknowledged no street parking. He could have parked in my driveway, but he parked way down at the end where there was guest parking. I was very impressed that he followed the rules of the park, so that was awesome.

My GE refrigerator wasn't making any ice one time. I talked to AHS's online prompt and they gave me a callback with the contractor who was supposed to come to do the service. The tech who came was courteous and expedient. He knew what to repair and had the parts. Now everything is working well.

We had a toilet that made various noises and looked like it was leaking. I went online like the website says and put in a claim. HCD came out within 24 hours and fixed the toilet. They were very quick and responsive.

I’ve had some communication issues with American Home Shield. When my home heating system went and got very complicated, there was a language barrier with the person I was trying to relay the information to. We were trying really hard to understand each other. It’s nobody’s fault but it’s very discouraging and there's frustration on both ends when they can’t understand me when I’m trying to get a little technical and I’m not understanding them. The company tries, but they had to be more cognizant of at least putting people on the front lines that can understand a situation when it gets a little bit complicated.
Other than that, they have tried to bend over backward at times when they finally get it although it might take three phone calls and six hours later. With my appliance issue, the guy that came out from Carolina Appliance was excellent, professional, prompt, and a real go-getter. He spoke very highly of working for the company. In fact, he was very good. If I ever have another problem with appliances that he works on, I’m gonna request him.

Our heater wasn't working. For some reason, every once in a while, it would work, but not all the time. Freedom Heating & Cooling came out and found that the blower motor was overheating. So it would run for a little bit and then it would shut off and sometimes it wouldn't run at all, so they replaced the motor. The claim process with AHS went really well. I told them on previous calls that I prefer Freedom 'cause they just seem to really get the job done quickly and they're familiar. They were really good. They couldn't get a one-call resolution because they had to order the part and come back the next day, but it went really smoothly.
It was rough on my very first service call with AHS. I didn't put anything into them for a year, and then the second year I wound up using them and the first company they sent out was horrible. The contractors were saying that my wiring wasn't up to code and I've been in this house for 15 years. I've never had a problem with wiring in past inspections. So I told AHS I didn't want them to be one of my options anymore. So for the same exact call, they sent out Freedom Heating & Cooling and they were phenomenal. Since then, I've had one other call and they've been great.

I have AHS for two years now. I submit my claims online with them and the process has been easy. Recently, I had a plumbing issue and that went smoothly. But there was a stove issue that didn't go as smoothly and they denied the claim. They said that the wires were chewed up instead of just broken and that they don’t cover that.

I've got five houses on AHS and their service is good. I called them about the heating system and they were willing to fix it and take on the charges. But I told them I was just gonna get a brand-new heating system instead of getting it fixed. I also called them twice about electrical. Our front porch light wasn't running on. I checked for the power and I was seeing there was no power. The tech told me it was the lamp itself. He said I should change the lamp and then the electricity was backward. According to him, it's on when it's off and it's off when it's on. So I changed the lamp and it still didn't work. Still, AHS does what they say they're gonna do and it's a good thing to have.

My washing machine was making a really loud noise. I filed the claim online. AHS said I would be contacted within a day or two. Then depending upon the contractor's schedule would be when they would actually come out. I was contacted the next day by the contractor and he came two days later. The contracting company was perfect and their communication was wonderful. I sell real estate and I tell to every client I have to get American Home Shield warranty.

I filed a claim online with AHS and it was super easy and intuitive. JL Maintenance scheduled me a couple of days out but then the tech called and said, "Hey, I'll drop by today," which was awesome because I would have preferred that to fix the problem. The technician was really friendly and awesome. He did a great job and everything went smoothly.

I have always been happy with Home Shield when I have talked to them. I filed my recent claim electronically. William’s Plumbing Heating & Air was prompt and reliable. The tech called me the same day I filed the claim, which was a Saturday. It took him an hour to resolve the issue and I was very happy with it. So far, his work seems good. I’d probably use them privately if I needed to. Home Shield works smoothly.

If you think American Home Shield will replace a major appliance for your trade service call fee, think again! If your replacement appliance requires water lines, gas lines or vents to be upgraded for code compliance or modified in any way, you will be paying out of pocket for that, in addition to the call fee. American Home Shield billed me the $100 call fee to have a plumber come out and tell me I needed a new water heater. I then had to pay $290 for code upgrades (which I expected) and $325 for modifications to install the new water heater. Obviously, modifications will always be necessary to install a new major appliance. Bottom line, American Home Shield purchased the new water heater and paid basic hourly labor for the install.

I was in contract with this company for 3 years. I only had two items that needed to be serviced. My first one went well despite the repair person's attitude. When it came to my second repair. I paid for someone to come and tell me what was wrong with my a/c unit. After receiving that information, AHS called me to tell me they will not repair this because my damper is not in my contract. The damper is a part of ductwork which is a part of my contract. They refused to repair it. They offered a second opinion option and I declined.
I had to wait for the next seven months before getting out of the contract. When it was approaching the month of March I called on the first to make sure my contract is not renewing, they said there is an administration fee so I called back the week of the expiration date, they said it will be 30 something dollars. So I called back three days before, this lady says there's a 60 something dollar administration fee. I hung up and called and was transferred to the cancellation department (which was never done before) and this lady did it within 5 minutes of speaking to me and did it without an administration fee because it was three days before the end of the contract. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. THEY ARE THIEFS AND LIARS. HORRIBLE!

Remitted an emergency order prior to 8am. No hot water to the house, senior citizen who needs to bathe daily. Was immediately assigned to a contractor who does not answer, numerous attempts going straight to voice message. Called AHS for re-assignment, routed to a call center whose rep barely spoke English. Was left on hold for 23 minutes only to disconnect me. 3 attempts, one hour later and no results. Read between the lines. Beyond frustrated.
We do apologize that this plumbing issue was not handled as it should have been. We understand no hot water can be an issue and we will be more than happy to speak with you in terms of a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I try not to call American Home Shield too much when I can. If I can fix something myself and it's less expensive than $75, I fix it. I've had them for 13 years and I was really thinking about changing it because there are other providers out there that's less expensive, but they really fixed my dishwasher. I thought that maybe they upgraded. Since it's not up until May, I'm gonna give it a try and see what they're gonna do with my air conditioner without me having to put out money like I've been putting out every summer.
My air conditioning claim always sucked. It's like they patch it enough to get me going, and then it's back out again the next summer. I paid $1,000 out of pocket for Freon. It's like Southern Comfort just came out and did patchwork then I had to call somebody else out. Recently, AHS sent somebody else out, but it was cold season. The heater was running, so they said they couldn't check it.

My recent claim with AHS went all right, but we still had leaking in the refrigerator. We couldn't figure out why it was leaking all the time. The contractor came twice because we didn't think it was fixed. And the second time, we thought it was fixed. The contractor tried. He thought it was something else and he brought a brand-new board out to put in and then he did something else, and it just seemed to solve the problem. But for some reason, this refrigerator leaks and I can’t figure it out. So, I just turned the water off today and cleaned off the back and see if that stops it.
Whenever we’ve asked for help from AHS, the men have come right out. Another thing happened. We had our thermostat went out on us. We didn't know what to do with that, so a man came and fixed that. He was excellent. He did it really quickly and solved my problem and discovered some other weaknesses in the electrical system in the house. But the other thing is it’s all digitalized and the people didn't leave any instructions on how this thing operates. And people said, “Just go online.” We’re not that type of people that we go online to find out everything ‘cause we’re in that other generation and we’d like to see things right in front of us. But I really appreciate AHS because it has helped.

The tech from A Water Solution who came out knew what he was doing and he fixed our plumbing issue right away. He showed me how I could take care of it in the future, too. His timeliness was good. We had the problem for a while, but he had to get the part in, and then he had to go and get another part to make that part work. So, it took a while, but it was not bad at all.
The American Home Shield reps wanted me to renew, but I do not want to spend the money. On another agent, on another time, we had something out with air conditioning and I paid $75. The guy came out and charged another 50 because it was not covered. He said it would have been cheaper to have called them. So what I did was that, along with some of friends here, I made contact with people that would fix our stuff at a price lower or as low. I looked at what it would cost for 10 years with American Home Shield, and for that amount of money, with the condition of our equipment, it will be cheaper for me to just take care of myself -- it is the right financial decision for this family. Nevertheless, it was very comforting to know that I had that warranty for that first year to make sure the stuff wasn't going to break down right away.

The first customer service guy from American Home Shield was great. I couldn’t understand what he was saying at first, then the contractor that he assigned me to had bad reviews, so I requested another contractor. He was very good about doing that for me and everything went well. I looked at the reviews and from what I read, the contractor was very good. He was a little early when he came and he went up in the attic and checked the whole system. He explained to me that the last service people that came out put something on that was very cheap and that one didn’t last at all. He explained everything in detail, checked everything thoroughly and showed me the part that malfunctioned, the capacitor. I was very pleased with him.

There was a leak under the sink and when I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, they sent out Plumb Genius. They found out that there was a problem with the garbage disposal and they said they fixed it. But the next day, I noticed that it was still leaking. So, I called back American Home Shield and put in another order. Then, the contractor called and made an appointment to come out. It turned out that there was some gasket that wasn't fixed the first time. But the techs were nice and they fixed the issue. Now, it’s not leaking anymore. All in all, my experience with AHS has been fine and they give me help when I need it.

I would do my claim online because it's faster and easy. When I had a refrigerator issue, the technician from Nice Guy diagnosed it one day. He told us what we needed to do, we did our part, and then he came back the next day, and repaired it. It’s working perfectly since then. The same technician had come out to my home before. He is professional, helpful and kind. He takes care of the problem.

For the most part, I chose AHS for the name brand and also, a family friend recommended them. The online system is very efficient. When I put in an issue for any appliance or concerns, I get an immediate feedback text and the company that’s gonna be dispatched. Typically, the company calls very readily or I’d call them. They can also send a tracking and I can see where the drivers are. All that gives great reassurance.
For my heating claim, the contractor who came was very efficient and thorough. He detected the problem very readily and solved it without any issues at all. He did his diagnostics and made sure that some of the obvious things were not a concern, like the motor. He realized that it was the panel that had burnt out. Through his testing, diagnostics and thought process, he was able to arrive at that solution. I was very impressed.

AHS has gotten better. A year or two ago, they sucked because I had to wait on the phone forever. Now, they automated their systems. I can get a vendor assigned to me much quicker and the process to get a vendor and get somebody here is much quicker and faster. The last three or four times I used them over the past year, the response time is much better.
We asked for a vendor for a timer on the pool filter. It has a timing mechanism and it also has a mechanism to protect the system to make sure the system goes on when it gets to a certain degree and it wasn't recognizing the degrees outside so it doesn't freeze up. The pump on that comes on when the temperature gets too low and it wasn't doing that. I tried to keep it on manually. Serene Pools came out and they did a good job. The tech that was sent out was great. He was professional and on time. He explained to me what was wrong and I haven't had a problem since then. I would encourage AHS to continue to use them.

I have used American Home Shield's services once and it turned out to be good. It was easy to file the claim over the phone and I got what I needed taken care of. The person was here and took care of the situation very quickly. I was pleased with that. However, Home Shield needs to notify you when they’re gonna go up on your account because after that one time that I used them, my bill went up by $6 and I couldn’t understand that. I was wondering if it was because I used the service. That was very disappointing.
I've had the service since we moved into this house, about three years ago, and the bill has been steady until that. The increase was significant and that was what made me notice it. They could’ve been going up on it a few cents all along and I didn’t know it. Fortunately, I had enough money in there to cover it when it went through because it is an automatic deduction. Because of that, they should have let me know. But I did not get a notification telling me that they were gonna go up on my bill.

It was leaking right inside the showerhead area and it was getting the drywall all wet on the inside. Submitting the claim to Home Shield was really easy and On Time Plumbing & Heating came right out. Then, they told me that someone would be calling me and coming out to finish the drywall but they never did. I called them the week they came out and asked if they had gotten someone appointed to the drywall. They told me I needed to call American Home Shield which I did and American Home Shield told me I needed to call them. It still isn't fixed. It's very nice, very convenient, and affordable to have a home warranty but I'm still waiting for the repair to be finished.

We have been with AHS since November and we recently filed a claim for our ice maker. I called in and their customer service was pretty good. They helped me get a contractor. BA Distributing came and worked on the refrigerator so that the ice maker worked again.

We didn’t have hot water for a week and Lubbock Plumbing did good. The company would come around and they would fix it, and then at night, it would leak after we use the water. We wondered what was going on and I called them back out. They would then fix it and it would leak again at night. Every time we would use the water, it would back up on the back of our garage. We just moved in, so some of our stuff that was in the garage got wet, including my wife’s clothes. The water heater got all moldy underneath so we had to dry it out. They also had to replace a Sheetrock behind there and a Sheetrock behind the refrigerator.
They had to request a couple guys there. It was a whole disaster and it wasn’t very fun. It wasn’t their fault though. We hired some painters and they ended up putting a paint rag in my garbage disposal which was causing a leak in my garage because it was backing up the drain. After Lubbock Plumbing came out four different times, they finally found out what the issue was and after two weeks, they got it fixed. I’m glad that we had American Home Shield. It was the company that was picked when we bought our home and I told my wife we’re definitely buying a warranty company the next time for next year.

I had a claim to service the washer. The automatic button there was not coming on and I went online to file the claim. The website was very good and I got a call pretty soon afterwards. I think it was on the following day and Astro Appliance has been excellent. They came on the scheduled time and tried to fix the issue but it has not been fixed yet because it requires a follow-up service because I’m having the same issue again.

American Home Shield should fire Coastal Appliance. They don't do a good job and they don't follow up. They ordered a part and and that wasn't even the problem at all. They came out twice, maybe even three times, and they never fixed the problem. It was with my refrigerator and it kept doing the same thing. The water dispenser was evidently clogged up at the back of the unit and they were never able to uncover that. The next guy Home Shield sent fixed it and he was excellent. I haven't had any more problems since. I'd want Atlas to come back out here if I had another problem. They fixed it right away and did a great job.
On the other hand, American Home Shield follows up and I like that. They also refunded us. They put the money back in my account. The reason I chose American Home Shield to begin with was because their price was competitive and they offered more services than anyone else. Plus my Realtor recommended them when we closed our house.

American Home Shield was highly recommended by our Realtor and we decided to go with them based on personal references from family members. Most recently, our water heater wasn't working and submitting the claim was very simple and very easy. I did it on my phone. The tech from Express Appliance Service was pretty much all business. He came in, did his work, and left. It took less than an hour and the $75 service fee was fine. We had another issue with a microwave, which honestly, I would've just liked a new one. I don’t know if it was worth it for a microwave, but it was fine for the stove.

The dryer in my house in Memphis wasn't getting hot and the washer wouldn't spin and dry. I called AHS to submit a claim and it was easy. My interaction with their rep was good and they sent out the tech from Greenway Home Services. So far, I have AHS for a year now and I haven't had a problem.

I had a home warranty company for three years and they slammed me every chance they got. It was a nightmare with Choice Warranty. They rejected every single claim that was submitted. My experience was very bad. But with American Home Shield, I had two claims with them and had no problems with either of them. It's very comforting because as a single woman, I don't have a huge income. The home warranty is like my backup and to have that to be reliable and dependable means that world to me.
When I called for a claim for a plumbing issue, I spoke with a nice young man and he explained everything he was doing. I really appreciated that. A nice young tech came in and checked on the matter. The handle was leaking on the water shut off valves on the sink and I couldn't turn it even with a wrench. I thought it needed to be replaced but the tech said the washer had crumbled. He replaced the washer and he could open it. God willing, everything's holding up. I have people coming in and checking on the house and nobody said there was a problem.

I’ve been pretty happy with AHS. I never had an insurance and all this stuff before. I started reading about it and it makes a whole lot of sense. I don’t mind paying the premiums. The people on the phone are friendly and the people coming out have been friendly, so it’s been a good deal. Recently, I called them when the heating sensor went bad. The furnace wasn’t firing up and it wasn’t getting power to the thermostat. I was afraid it’d be really cold, and it’d be 4 o’clock in the morning, I’d have no heat in the house. So I had them look at it and they said they'd replace the heating sensor which it’s old. I also had a guy come out when my dishwasher wasn’t working and he fixed my dishwasher. So far having it has been great. I’m gonna recommend it to one of my neighbors.

I have been with AHS since we bought this house in 2013. Water heater failed 3.5 years ago and was replaced by AHS. The plumbers had to bring it up to code at that time and I paid a lot of money out of pocket to get this done. Last week the same water heater(still under warranty) started leaking from the tank. I scheduled replacement with AHS. Plumber was dispatched through AHS on Monday 3/9/2020, I paid the $75 service call fee. Plumbers looked at my water heater and what needed to be done, then confirmed with AHS. The plumbers wanted to charge me an additional $650.00 to bring this "up to code" I informed them I had already paid the previous plumber to do this through AHS.
I also found out that the original plumber did not pull a permit for the work. Since we had no hot water, I removed and exchanged the warrantied water heater myself. It took me alone about 2 hours to accomplish this. I am filing a complaint with the local building department and with states attorney because I think this is fraudulent.

When I bought this condo a couple years ago, I started out with American Home Shield. I was not familiar with what a home warranty service was all about when I first signed up, so the first time I had to use the service, I didn’t get a quick service at all. It was because that was the way the system is set up, but other than that initial first-time around, American Home Shield has been very well. When I made a claim for my heating, my service was excellent. The technician they used has been to my house before and he was the same one that came this time. He is very knowledgeable and he fixed the problem.

There was an issue with the refrigerator and the contractor figured out that we needed a new compressor. For our claim on the water filter, American Home Shield sent us to have a second opinion because the contractor was saying that the part was no longer available. The second contractor who came in searched and went through their whole database. They had a part sent to us and then, they had their person come in on Friday the 13th and install it. The water filter seems to be working fine. We had a positive experience with both contractors although the second contractor may have had a slightly greater knowledge or database available from them. We moved into our house in November 2007 and we have one year that the previous owners included in the contract. We’ve just kept it since then. So, we’ve had AHS since then and here we are in 2020. They haven't disappointed me yet.

Claim submission is easy. The washer quit working and Pro-Tech Appliance Services handled it finely. One time, I used it and it took over a month to get something, but it was okay and we still got it. The contractors they sent out were fine, except for one who was far away -- I wished I could have gotten somebody closer because there are several appliance places near me. I felt bad that he had to drive an hour and a half away. I suggest that American Home Shield get more contractors closer and with contract.

American Home Shield always does an amazing job. I've had them for 10 years now and I've never had a bad service with them. AHS switched to a different system and the contractor couldn't get through to them to get authorization numbers. I was upset because the contractor from All Clear Plumbing had other jobs and he waited for 45 minutes to be disconnected automatically and couldn't get through to AHS so that put him behind. We rescheduled for Tuesday and they came in and fixed everything.
I've had a lot of plumbing issues and I always request All Clear Plumbing and Heating because they're thorough. They've been here at least half a dozen times. I always ask them to give me a 20-minute call before they get here because I'm disabled. So if I'm upstairs and I don't hear the doorbell, I always get a phone call from whoever is on their way. They're professional and are always on time. They always do their job and they tell me what the problem is. They don't BS me because I'm through American Home Shield or a home warranty company. I had that problem with other claims where the contractor told me what the issue could be and then walked out and did not fix the darn thing. All Clear Plumbing is an amazing company.

The contractor came twice for my icemaker, but I gotta call them again. Initially, the contractor tried to fix it, but it didn’t work. Then he came back and he said he had to replace it. He ordered a part and came on Wednesday to put it in. He then said to give it a couple of days and see if it’s making ice. However, it’s still not making ice. If he can’t fix this, then someone else needs to be sent out. AHS has been responsive even though it takes a little while to get through on the phone to them, but our issue has been going on for about a month now. Right now, I'm dissatisfied with them.

Having AMP Mechanical come out was a waste of my $75. They didn’t do anything. The technician came in, looked at it and when I asked what the problem was, he asked if the heat comes on. I told him it would every now and then. One night, we may have to run our electric heat or sleep out in the other part of my home where I have an open flame heater or it may kick in where it gets about 30 degrees in the house. Then he said he was not gonna be able to do anything. I asked what was going on and he said it was because I told him that the heater does work sometimes. Sometimes it does but it doesn’t kick on all the time plus it’s making a loud noise and it doesn’t produce any heat. But he said that American Home Shield said in our policy that we have to be without heat.
So he was telling me that I would have to be sitting in a cold house with no heat before they could do anything. He said that is what American Home Shield said, not the company he was working for. So what was the $75 I paid for -- for them to come and tell me that although my heater was not on that day, it might kick in the next day and because of that, they couldn't fix the problem? He said he knew what the problem was because I had told him it might kick on later or another day, it meant the heater still worked sometimes. Thank God, we’re getting to a better weather. But it does the same thing when he told me what other options that I have. Also, the next day, American Home Shield said nothing like they always do, which pissed me off because nothing happened. AMP never called me or said anything either. As a matter of fact, I’ll been looking somewhere else to get my home warranty soon.

The girl from AHS that works at the desk has been awesome. We had some water damage inside of our current property and the girl got somebody out the same day. That was exceptional because in the times prior, things weren’t really looked at as that important. So, her, creating a sense of urgency made me feel even more secure and reassured the decision to have American Home Shield.
There was a leaky faucet and there was something going on with the toilet. We had several issues and J & K Plumbing repaired four different things. We’ve had the technicians out twice in the past month and a half. They were awesome, very thorough and punctual and they had great communication skills. They gave excellent customer service and I would continue to request them again.

When we purchased our home, American Home Shield came with it, so we continued the service. They responded rapidly to our phone calls and scheduled the appointments out. I, however, did not like some of the companies that they used because they were not fixing the problem. So, we had to constantly call them back for the same problem this year with the electricity company that they have. When the company first came out, the issue was not fixed. So, the home warranty looked if there was another company, and there was not another company because a company that was 20 or 30 minutes away could not come to where we are at. AHS then said we had to use that company within the area. So, we had to pay again for that company to come out even after paying the first time. When they came out, we were there to make sure they fixed it correctly that time.

The claim recently, which was for the AC, went well. Something came disconnected or something on the compressor outdoors and the contractor had to make a quick repair. I submit my claims online and it's easy. But every once in a while, the timing, once I put a claim in to when the actual contractor can come out here, is a little tough. This recent one was really quick but the three or four before that were a week. Also, there were a few times I made a claim where it was too long so I just paid someone out of pocket because I couldn't wait.

We had a claim for a pressure regulator on our water and it was handled very well. I'm very happy. It went quickly and easily. Submitting the claim was actually very easy too, very surprisingly. I did it online but it was hard because it didn't say pressure regulators. It said plumbing and different things. The only thing I could find was leaks. So when the technician from AG Plumbing called, I just said it wasn't a leak and that it was a pressure regulator problem because we could hear pulsating pressures in the wall. Then he came out. I had it dug up and he replaced it then I buried it and he left. It was a good experience.

My claim to AHS regarding my microwave and my washer went okay, besides waiting for some parts. The contractors came on time and they called before they came. And while waiting for the parts, I had to call them and find out when is that going to be because we need our microwave. But they gave me a specific day that they'd be coming and that the parts were in. AHS also responds and they're reliable.

I like the website a lot and when my hot water heater was pouring water out in my basement, I made a claim online. They sent K&S Plumbing and I dealt with them before, so I already knew what to expect with them. They’re always very helpful. A valve had gone bad and they had to replace it. Now, there's no water leaking and we're able to take showers and have hot water. So, that was perfect. I have a 20-month old in the house, so not being able to give him a bath and have hot water for him without having to boil it was almost impossible. Getting the issue fixed definitely got us back on track. American Home Shield was highly recommended to me by a co-worker and that was the best thing I could’ve done. They’re great.

No help to resolve a broken water heater. My water heater broke on Thursday March 5th 2020 and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield at which time I also paid my deductible. In addition to the water heater leaking, the shut off valve that fills the tank also failed requiring me to shut off all the water in the house to stop the flood. I called the assigned technician who came out the following evening, Friday, March 6th. The technician told me he’d be submitting a report and that I should follow up with AHS on Monday as nothing could be done over the weekend.
Monday I was informed by AHS that a new water heater was authorized and that it would arrive at the technician’s shop on Monday March 16th. A full 11 days after submitting my claim. I made multiple calls to AHS on Tuesday to explore my options as the AHS rep told me on Monday evening that they could try and expedite delivery. I received differing responses and was told that if I wanted a quote for a “cash out” it would be an addition 24-48 hours. Attempts to speak with a supervisor were met with long periods of being placed on hold.
The water coming from the tap is less than 40 degrees F. With small children, we have had have had to take them to a neighbor’s house to give them baths. No hot water also means not being able to use a dishwasher and not being able to wash clothing. Never mind the fact that all of this is going on with the Coronavirus outbreak.
Unfortunately, the AHS reps stuck with their provided scripts and could offer me no satisfaction. Tuesday evening I was told no hot water isn’t a reason to expedite a claim. Even more infuriating is the fact that Home Depot is just a couple miles away from my home with plenty of water heaters in stock. Had I known this would be the level of service received I would have requested the cash out and hired my own plumber. Needless to say I’m not satisfied especially since I can’t get a call back from or reach anyone at AHS in a supervisory position.

Accord Appliance was very professional. The tech came out and checked everything. He knew what was wrong and fixed one part in the oven. Then he ordered a part, came back a week later and put it in.

My garbage disposal quit working. I called and AHS set up the appointment. The guy was out within a short matter of time. He showed me what was wrong with it, put a new one in, and he was on his way. I was happy with the whole thing.

I liked my experience with American Home Shield. I only had a couple of things that I needed. As far as trying to get scheduled to meet with people, I’m by the phone, or if I’m not by the phone, I can look at my email all day. The contractors chose just to call though. They weren’t trying to use any other way of communication and I have to work. My husband is at home and he also can be texted, or they can just text me and I’ll text him. I’m not picking up every phone call because I don’t know who’s calling. AHS tried to get ahold of the contractors. So, that was going above and beyond. They took care me. I know the people with Home Shield. The contractors is another thing and AHS can’t control that, but I try my best.

The coverage with AHS is better. The items in your house that they cover are better and the monthly fee is less, and they do a better job of selecting their contractors. I’ve been much happier with the contractors that we’ve had to come for claims. I filed claims with the. One was for a garbage disposal that wasn’t working. The techs came and they showed me how to get it fixed so that next time I don’t have to file a claim. It was a $100 information transfer but it went well.
The heating and air claim was for a flame sensor. It was not adjusted correctly so that the furnace would not turn on if it was windy outside and there was a draft. There were days when it would go several hours, and it would be 10 degrees below the thermostat setting and the furnace wasn’t coming on. They adjusted that and it’s been working fine since then. The techs have done a good job every time I’ve had a claim so far with AHS. I’ve been very happy.

When the garage door opener quit working, Cascade came out and quickly replaced it. It was all perfect. AHS and their contractors have also been fine at all other times, but not with Sears. After the assessment, the parts were ordered and it took a long time to get the parts in. After they came out to replace the parts and left, the machine still wasn’t working. I called Sears back and said that it was still not working. They said that they could come back out, but it’d be $99. I said that they guys didn't fix it right the first time and that I’m not paying $99. They said that I needed to start a new case with AHS. I said that it was not a new case.
They also kept canceling the service call and saying that their staff has had a family emergency. I said that their staff sure seems to have a lot of family emergencies and that I really don't believe them anymore.” That their standard mode of operation. They just tell everybody that their tech isn't gonna make it for a family emergency to try to get some empathy. Well, guess what? It’s not working. I called AHS back and scheduled Sears to come back out. They wouldn’t come back out without wanting to charge me. Fortunately, one of their techs finally realized what was happening, called me and said, “Let’s get this fixed.” He then came out and fixed it.

I put a call in for an appliance issue on a weekend and Cooper Appliances called me back on Monday or Tuesday. They came out, found the problem, and fixed it. It took them about 15 minutes. That was pretty quick. Submitting claims with AHS is easy but one problem is I have four fridges and they only cover two of them. The other two are a wine fridge and a bar fridge and they said they don't cover those, which was one of the things that broke along with my regular fridge. But other than that, everything has been fine so far.

American Home Shield was recommended by a real estate Agent, and I figured they knew what they were talking about. Everyone that we’ve had has been superb. We just bought this house and it had been empty for a year. The house is wired for a phone and two of the phone lines did not work. So, Mates Electric came out and were able to rehook them up.
All of my experiences have been easy. They have great follow-up. Their reps on the phone are pleasant. They tell me that they’re gonna notify the company, and they give me the name of the company and the phone number, and then that’s followed up in an email. So, it’s all been excellent. I’m brand new to the area. I came from Indianapolis, Indiana. I have no knowledge of any contractors out here. So, what we’ve done is we’ve now kept these individual’s names. I now have a plumber, an electrician, and a furnace company, which we’ve actually signed a maintenance contract with them to do the air conditioning later on the spring. So, I now have contractors that I will use. For a person that is new to another area, and especially if they’re in a home that they don’t know, they should definitely get American Home Shield. I'm very pleased that I've had it for two years.

My refrigerator wasn't cooling one time and I submitted a claim to AHS. A tech from Sears was sent out and he went over everything. The problem ended up being some valve that was stuck. He didn't change it and suggested that I leave the doors of the refrigerator open for 24 hours. He explained that it probably got too cold in the refrigerator and things froze. He said that if the valve started working it would be great. If it didn't, then I should call him back and he would replace it. The refrigerator started doing what he said and everything has been working okay since. American Home Shield is awesome. I left them for a short period of time and went to American Residential Warranty for six weeks. They were a joke. I will never leave AHS again.

I like that in case something does go down, it’s nice to know that you got something there where you don’t have to run around and try to find all the different people to come in. Cyrus Plumbing and Air Conditioning came out for our water heater and that was the first time I ever used American Home Shield. And I had higher expectations because I ended up paying out of pocket almost $1,300, plus $100 I gave AHS, so I didn't see any really big savings in doing it. So, I’m just staying there for now, but if anything comes up and I ended up paying the same thing, then there is no point in having it.

My coworker was renting out a house, and then he said he decided to buy homeowner’s insurance with American Home Shield and said everything was good for a while. So I decided to get it myself since I’m not a handyman. I submitted two claims with AHS at one time. The toilet was leaking on the side from what they said was an old rusty bolt. So they changed that. That was good, and then the heater wasn’t working. The contractor said it was because there was this thing that gets a signal, and it was not getting a clear signal, so sometimes the heater would turn on and sometimes it wouldn’t. He sandpapered something down to make it all clean, and he got the signal to respond, and then every time it tried to turn it on it's been turning on.

My heater was having issues and it kept turning on. I submitted the claim for it on the phone and I spoke with somebody. I was told that I would be contacted by the contractor. The guy from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was very respectful and I felt comfortable having him in my home. He was great. The unit has been working fine since the repair. Our contract with American Home Shield is up this month, and we are going to renew it. For my husband, having the warranty is the best way to go.

The guy showed up very quickly from when we made the claim. They fixed the problem and then they went through and checked the entire system in the rest of the house to make sure that all the plumbing was good to go before they left. So it was a stellar job. Everything went perfect. I’ve been a customer of AHS here for a long time and being able to generate something online instead of having to call and talk to somebody is nice and it goes very quick. The only suggestion I would have is to have a roster online of available companies in the area.

This warranty is a good thing. I got it after a friend recommended it at work and now, I've been with American Home Shield for about two years and a half. They sent out National Platinum for my washing machine. It wasn’t wringing the water out of the clothes so I called American Home Shield on the phone. The rep took care of it and was nice. Then the contractor called me when they were on their way. It was 30 minutes before they came. They were friendly and they did a good job. The washing machine has been great since the repair. It kept me from going to the laundromat.

The water heater went out. it always goes out at the wrong time. But I was glad that it went out while we were here right before we left for Disneyland or it would have been a mess. I called Home Shield and they sent Advanced Home Services to look at it. The guy said that it should be replaced. I still had a month left on the warranty on the water heater but they put down a schedule as soon as they could and I got a guy named Bennie to come out the next day and install it. He did everything he needed to do. I had a great experience with Home Shield.

Called in for our heater not working on Feb 25th. Got a vendor assigned and was told after 4 days he could not get to it for at least 2 weeks. Went to pending assignment again and the next vendor I was told to call for an appointment only to find out they are not even set up with AHS yet. I called AHS service line and was given the runaround. I asked for a supervisor and after a lot of arguing was supposedly being connected to one but actually she hung up. Called back a second time, finally connected to a supervisor. Finally was told a vendor would be assigned in 4 hours and I would be contacted by the technician resolution dept.
6 hours later and no call as of yet. AHS in WV is terrible. Oh and don't try to cancel your contract either as I was told they would not refund my deductible 100.00 or my annual fee. I was really hopeful that this supervisor would do the right thing but alas I was let down. After 2.5 weeks of cold weather and only having half of my house heated I am done.

So, home warranty companies are in the game to make a profit! They are there to take your money and return as little back as possible. My experience, I submitted a claim for a broken A/C. They promptly processed the claim but then their contractor sat on the claim for day after day, multiple calls to everyone possible! No relief, finally called a company on my own, problem fixed in less than 4 hours, cost? Less than 6 months of AHS subscription.

Home Shield has gotten a lot better than when I first had the service. Their contractors are middle-of-the-road, nothing extravagant or nothing bottom of the barrel. I had a plumbing claim and the contractor determined that I had a small leak. But because of everything that's going on, I've decided to hold off doing anything 'cause it's a small leak I could probably do myself.

I use American Home Shield for the pool equipment stuff so when something happens, the technicians come out and they fix the problem quickly. The pool went from broken to fixed. I also have Home Shield for some of the big systems. I bought a used home so, in the next few years, I might have some of those systems go out on me. I've only used AHS a few times throughout the three years that I've had them but the times that I have used them, they have been fairly quick services.

We had a leaking pipe and United Air Temp came when they said they were gonna come. They also do plumbing. They were courteous and they did a good job. Everything went fine. I also had something electrical issue and I was worried because I didn't know if it carried any risk of fire hazard. When I spoke with a contractor, they told me that, according to American Home Shield, they didn't have to come on out for 24 hours. In other words, there’s no such thing as an emergency. Other than that, I have been very pleased with Home Shield and I’m glad that I have it.

We called Home Shield for the fan and the shower was making a lot of noise then it stopped working on and off. They had somebody come out who was very good. He also came when he said. He had to come back with the right equipment then he had to replace some electrical parts and in order to do that, he had to get a new fan. That was a very inexpensive fix and Home Shield worked like a charm. It was what we were expecting from them as opposed to another claim before this, which was a total nightmare. Our furnace went out, so we had no hot water and no heat. We had company coming and it was cold in the house. It was supposed to snow too. This was on a Monday morning and Home Shield found somebody who couldn’t come until Friday.
It was somebody that was going to come up, without traffic, an hour and a half away. With traffic, it was two and a half hours. We said that that was not acceptable. I also called and the recommendations weren’t good on the person. They said the other option was to find our own person and we found somebody who came that day. Our furnace was pretty much gone and the people we called were going to have to replace it. They said their parts for it were one of those high-level furnaces that never quite work and everybody we knew who had one had gotten rid of it already. Our people sent something in about what needed to be done and said a lot of parts needed to be replaced. They called several times.
We decided we were gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new furnace. Home Shield kept telling us we had to wait for a second opinion but they couldn’t get anybody out for a long time before we could do anything. They canceled them and then the vendor couldn’t come because of the weather. It was awful. I was gonna have the people do it anyway and when I finally got somebody on the phone, they said we needed to get that second opinion. I asked why they kept asking and finally, somebody said a second opinion might help me get those parts at a cheaper cost. The people who were doing our furnace called everywhere, and nobody was making those parts anymore.
Finally, somebody told me that if we do anything with our furnace, then the maximum amount we can get is $1500 and the parts were going to cost $1400. I asked why they were driving me crazy about this whole thing when the maximum I could get was $1,500 for the whole furnace. It was getting silly. I told them we were gonna do it, that I’ll send them the bill from these people and they can send us the $1500. It was a $12,000 repair. They kept bugging me for more information and it was a little outrageous. I also asked if we could get back the $100 we paid for their person. Nobody ever came to our house to do it. Home Shield said we could get reimbursed for that, so I asked for the $1500, plus the $100. There were six phone calls about this, and they wouldn’t give me the $100.
It’s my fault that I didn't read that fine print and see the $1500. There was so much to read and I should have read things more carefully, but nobody at Home Shield told me that when I was doing something like this, this is the maximum I can get. It would have saved us days of work. It wasn’t until my 18th phone call, asking them why we couldn't get the claim moving, that somebody said that. We kept waiting for Home Shield, and we had our person all lined up. I ended up paying them extra for the furnace because I was doing it on a rush deal.

It seemed like everything tore up at one time and I spent about $1,400 out of pocket getting some stuff fixed. So, I said that it was time to invest in a home warranty to kinda help me shave off some of these costs. I know quite a few people who work for American Home Shield so they were always my first thought. I considered Sears too but American Home Shield just had more coverage of features. It has been over six months when I bought coverage through American Home Shield.
We turned the microwave on, it began to smoke and it almost caught fire. So, there was something going on with it. I called American Home Shield and submitted my claim. I talked to a live person and it was a good experience. I had no problems, they answered all my questions and handled my claim in a timely manner. The service from the contractor was great. They came and disposed the old microwave, and put in a new one. There was no problem at all. It was quick, simple, easy and he was in and out in no time. Everything has been performing very well since then and I've had no issues.

Home Shield warranty is beneficial to have. But with my latest experience with them, I wish there was a quicker turnaround on having supplies on hand. I had two of the same comebacks. I have a water heater that was leaking and we ended up with water damage. I wish that it was a quicker turnaround in getting the water heater replaced. I also had a garage door claim and everything was fine. The tech showed up in the timeframe that was given to me and he was very knowledgeable and professional.

It’s hard to communicate with AHS. Apparently, the contractors call the same number as the customers so sometimes. AHS is busy and would sometimes say that they'll call back. I think it would be easier to use phone communication. I've been with them for about 11 years and they have covered what they say they were going to, which was the most important thing. Moreover, they always find a contractor. Once in a while, it’s not as fast as I’d like but they do find a contractor and get them over.

There was a shower piece that had to be replaced and there had to be tile work done on a rental property. PROline Plumbing & Sewer came out. I have four other properties that Home Shield is covering for me and having them decreases my repair costs on my rentals. I've been happy with my service with them. They’ve done a great job for us.

AHS has done everything professionally and in a positive manner. They take care of the customer and they get the personnel who are gonna fix the unit out here quickly. They call you, set up an appointment, and that appointment is within a day or two. Their service is great and I’m so happy I have them. Recently, they sent out K&T Appliances and the tech was very professional. He was very knowledgeable and he taught me some things because I’m a little bit electrical myself. And he was clean and fixed the issue in no time. He knew right away what it was, showed me, then put it back.

I did a claim for the ice maker in our refrigerator. Rex Appliance had to come out a third time but it’s still not working great. We thought that the warranty does 90 days but it was only 60. So I had to pay another $100 and I’m not happy about that. I’ve been spending off a lot of money and not have it done right. I don’t blame Rex Appliance at all. They’re good people. But there’s something fundamentally wrong with this thing and it’s $300 so far but it’s still not right. It’ll make ice for a month or two and then it stops. The tech had to replace the whole thing one time. It took a long time for him to fix it this time.

AHS is a good company to be a part of. Whenever I have issues with appliances, they’re timely as far as making sure that it’s taken care of and that the person comes out to service the home. I had a company that came out to service my stove and my microwave and the customer service was very good. The tech told me what the problem was, came out a couple of days later and fixed the problem.

Home Shield is great. I put a claim in on their site and they send an email within a couple of hours that gives information on the contractor. Most recently, the hot water heater was running out of hot water before I get done taking a shower. The Lindi Corp came out and it was good with them.

Our air conditioner had broken and it was not coming on. I called to file a claim and it took two to three days for World Class AC to come out. The contractor was very good and I liked him. The repair went fine. We’ve had American Home Shield for 10 years now and I feel comfortable having it in case we have major breakdowns. For the most part, the other claims before were also good.

My kitchen sink drain was clogged so I filed a claim for it with American Home Shield. I did that online and Alto Sewer Service came out the next day. I was impressed by how quick it was. We had an issue with our heat pump. My girlfriend submitted the claim with American Home Shield and they just said that we would be receiving a call whenever somebody was ready to come out. And that took about 30 minutes or less. We had set up for C&R to come out and they had to redo some of the wirings. Some rats had somehow chewed through some of the wires and it was making the heat run wrong. Everything's working fine now and we haven’t had any more issues. American Home Shield was included when we bought our home about eight months ago and it worked out good.

They got a professional guy to come out for my refrigerator. Since he had the part on hand, he did all the work right in the house. He changed the part that was needed and the refrigerator worked like new. I wish AHS would have covered all the food that I lost. But besides that, I love them. When my appliance breaks down, I pay the $100 deductible and they fix or replace it.

We have had their warranty for a long time, we live in AZ. They are OK. The biggest challenges are that the contractors that take their work are not the best ones, the contractors sometimes don't schedule service for 10/15 days and you are forced to hire someone out of pocket because you can't wait that long, they are unavailable on weekends or holidays, if a contractor cannot repair something they will keep trying with a second or third contractor (and in the meantime your dishwasher is on the blink for a month) before considering replacement. Their rates seem to be going up every year too. If your appliances are new-ish, don't bother with buying this insurance.

The tech from Eli Electric came to fix some outlets that had some wires that were hanging that were alive. It could’ve been dangerous. It was basically trying to check and see if I had a couple of outlets that were working. The only thing they didn’t get to was the light switch that needed to be fixed. And I thought they were gonna come back and fix it. They said they were gonna contact the warranty company and the warranty company was gonna tell them something. Nobody has contacted me. But they were professional, came out on time, and did what they had to do quickly.

I had a claim for the heater and the tech came and checked everything out. He put in a new thermostat and it's been working fine. AHS did what they said they’d do and I'm happy. If I have to call them again, I'll call them again.

I like American Home Shield very well. After my husband passed away, my son was telling me about it, and they've been okay. My house was flooding from underneath the toilet and from out of the showers and sinks due to a septic tank issue. We had to have a plumber and a septic person all rolled into one to fix the issue. AHS told me I would have to wait four hours and then get someone approved if they couldn't find someone.
I explained to them that I couldn't do that because my house was flooded and in four hours I'd be standing in a swimming pool. I also said, "I know someone who can fix it. I would like for y'all to pay for that." And they wouldn't, but I still couldn't wait so I paid for them. So it's really a waste of money to have that part insured when it didn't do anything. But that was the only problem I had. All their contractors have been great.

The issue was the plumbing line leading out of the house. The adhesive had worn out over time in one of the pipes so it was leaking a little bit. So, Marcel from Grade A came and cut out that spot and put a new piece. He had the parts with him on the initial visit so he was able to knock it out all in one trip. It took him an hour at the most. Everything was good. This is the second time Grade A has come out and Marcel was great. He’s really good. He did our hot water heater, too. However, the whole getting me on to the contract was kind of a pain in the butt because we had asked Home Shield three or four times to put me on and then come to find out they kept not putting me on. But we got through that and it has been okay since. That was the only thing that was tough in the beginning.

When I had a leaking bathroom sink, it was pretty easy to get online and get stuff sorted. In that sense, it was very convenient. The tech who came was awesome. He found the problem right away, tightened some stuff up, and had it working. He was in and out within half an hour.

We've been with American Home Shield for probably three to four years, maybe longer. They come and handle things pretty quickly. The only thing with AHS was last year or a year after, we had something with our air conditioning. They don’t cover Freon too much, and that costs a whole bunch. If they cover a little bit of the Freon, that would be awesome. But other than that, any time we've used them, they’ve been really good.
We used them once for the dishwasher. Most recently, we had our refrigerator go out. We called them and they sent someone from Pinnacle the next day. They replaced it and fixed it that day so it was good. The guy from Pinnacle was awesome. I’m very worried when they send somebody. I was like, “What are we gonna get?” The guy was waiting for me when I met him here at the house and was very personable. He came in, did a bit of small talk, went straight to the refrigerator and checked it out. He was telling me exactly what he was doing while he was doing it. And then he said, “The problem right here is the thermostat. You’re lucky ’cause I think I have one in the truck that fits.” And he went out to his truck and came out and then he had one and fixed it. He finished it and the refrigerator was running. He actually stayed and we talked about other things for a while, too. I like him.

We were with Service America and then we stopped using them. They were good for many years that we had them because we were having all our appliances covered under one shield. But then, they went out of business so we spent a couple of years without a warranty. We bought all Samsung appliances and they seem to be giving us a lot of troubles so we thought that we needed a company that could give us service when we need it. So, we decided to try Home Shield. We heard commercials about them and people that we knew in real estate said that they're a fairly good company.
We're in the experimental stages so far and there doesn't seem to be any extra expenses other than the $100 service charge. We had our first experience and it went well. The workman had to make three trips because of the parts that weren't delivered but he was wonderful and I was very pleased. He finally fixed the problem that had been a problem for two or three years and I complimented him very much for his service.

My recent claim with AHS was great. Metro Air Services did a great job, he took care of me really fast and understood what was going on. My heater would not light. So, the igniter was out on it. And then the heater was just constantly running but the house wasn’t getting hot. And so, he determined it was the heater igniter. He replaced the igniter and off he went. It was just great. I would use them again. So far, AHS is doing a good job. It’s worth having a reliable service.

When I have a claim, I submit it to AHS over the phone because it's easier for me. I also like that you pay them $75 and their contractors come out. If there's anything that needs to be replaced, they replace it. Or if anything needs to be fixed, they’ll go ahead and fix it. Recently, I had an issue where Myers Comfort came out and they did a great job. They looked at whatever problem I had and they went on and fixed it. Something had to be cleaned and they cleaned it up.

The tech from Washington Electrician Service came out originally and did some work. I was having some problems with some of the lights in the kitchen. And when he left, it seemed like he had corrected the problem. I found out later that it involved a triple switch of some sort. We have more than one switch controlling lights. It seemed to be working okay and then all of a sudden, it's not.
So then, I called American Home Shield and I spoke to somebody and they were going to contact the same company and get somebody out here. But so far, they made one attempt because there was a message. I've since called them twice and all I got was a recording and no one has came out since to correct the problem. It was over a month ago from the original time that I've called. I'm not too happy. American Home Shield did what they could but the company that they recommended hasn't followed through yet. They probably will. I don't know why they haven't responded to my calls, but they did leave me a message once saying, "Give us a call." Overall, AHS should follow up on any potential problems that might arise.

I've had Home Shield for a while and I've been really happy with them, up until my last experience. I have an oven that is not working and it went out Saturday. They sent somebody out Monday to look at it. The tech said they can't repair it and the only thing to be done was possibly rebuild the motherboard. Then they called Home Shield. AHS said they were going to send somebody else out but they couldn't come 'til Friday. If they can send it off to be rebuilt, it'll take several more weeks out.
Now, I'm a whole week without an oven. Since it's an oven-microwave combination, I have no microwave and I have no oven. And with this lovely Coronavirus going around, and my husband and I are 65, we're not supposed to go anywhere. They've shut all the restaurants in North Carolina so I feel like I'm screwed. I'm not happy right now and this is not a good experience. Any other time though, I've been pleased with them and they've been really good.
We need a little better information and consistency because somebody called me from AHS and I got some information. I called somebody back yesterday and got some different information. When we've got something major going on, it's gonna take lots of calls and lots of people and good notes on their part in the system. So if I talk to one person one day and somebody different the next, I don't feel like repeating myself all over again. That's always a problem with AHS. It’s never been that way 'cause I've never had to call multiple times. I call, they send somebody out to fix it, I'm happy and it's done. But for complex issues, they need better communication and documentation.

When I called AHS to submit my claim, there was a bit of a language barrier. I’m old so sometimes the accents are a little hard for me to understand. She asked me if there were other things and I said that there were a few other things, but I couldn't afford all of them right then. She asked what were they and I listed them. She that it was a four-ticket item. I haven't read the whole contract and I was very shocked that I was able to get four things on one ticket. I didn’t know you could do that. I kept asking the same questions trying to make sure it was correct. The rep kept saying that I could get the four things. I said, “No, that can’t be right. Please don’t tell me that, then I get four bills separate.” I know she got frustrated with me, but I just couldn’t believe that that was true.
My dryer heater went out and my refrigerator door was wonky. It was catching on everything, so it has fallen a little. The electronic igniter on my stove also went out. But it has been out for about a year, so I didn’t care. I used the other burners. I wasn’t quite sure about my washer, but the tech said that it was not all the way to where they needed to change what was wrong. He said that it was fine for now and they were not allowed to change it until it gets to that point.
When my wall air conditioner blew out, I had it replaced and ended up having to pay $1,000 to have it put in through American Home Shield, which was weird. The contractor kept saying he had to redo something, but he didn’t really do anything different. He just shoved the air conditioner in there and filled it up. I don’t know why it cost so much, but I paid for it because I needed air.
I’ve also had many things repaired. And one thing about the plumbing is weird. When pipes broke under my house, the plumber wouldn’t fix it until I had a cleanup crew clean the water up. It was just a small amount of water and it wasn’t toilet water. But they said that it was still dirty water so they were not allowed to go under there. Even with any trouble I might have, I'd recommend AHS to my neighbors. I told one neighbor that it’s a bill every month but when you have to call a plumber and you’re down and out, it’s a lot of money to pay for a plumber per hour.

I have a hot water heat boiler and Robbins Heating had to work on a knuckle ‘cause I don't know what it's called, it's a little gray box. It's a kind of thermostat. They knew what they were supposed to do. They cleaned up after themselves and kept me informed. I would let that particular company into my home whether I was home or not. That’s how fair and honest I feel like they are. I don’t believe I'd ever got told anything that was the truth. Every bit of their performance was 5-star above because they do absolutely unbelievable work. I'm a Realtor and an appraiser in this town and I have Robbins do lots of work for me, and they never ever fail to come back if need be and come back is very seldom. I won't use anybody but Robbins.
What I don’t like about AHS is that they change their rules a lot and I get very frustrated with that. There are certain things that they need to fix but then they come and tell me, “No, it's not in the right place,” and I've already called and gotten information on how I need to take care of it. So, I have a defunct refrigerator now that they will not take care of. It's my kitchen refrigerator. I moved it out to my garage because I was getting ready to take an extended trip. And so I had a friend bring me just a usable refrigerator at that time ‘cause I was gonna be gone for a while.
I called them and I told them they needed to come fix it and they refused to work on it because it's in the wrong place. But I had already talked to and documented date, time, and who I talked to about it being moved to the garage, so my family, while I was gone, would have a refrigerator to use. I’m not real happy with American Home Shield in that way.
I have had some claim in that 25 years with AHS and in the last five years, especially, they’ve grown so big that sometimes I get fly-by-night contractors. They come out but they don’t do what they’re supposed to do. They leave and it still doesn’t work. They’ve always had to come back and had another contractor come in and that person seems to be better qualified. And I've had situations I have a number of these. I have some in Oklahoma and in Colorado ’cause I do property management as well. And I have some of these that they can’t find an HVAC guy to come and work on something, and my tenants are a little unhappy when it takes 10 to 15 days to get somebody. Especially when it’s in the wintertime, my little old ladies and gentlemen aren’t happy about not having heat.

I wish that AHS would not be as expensive as it is. I first started 20 years ago and the cost went from $25 or $35 a visit to 100 and the annual amount is expensive now too. Years ago, I could negotiate and take out certain things. Now, it’s a little more stringent. However, they send out competent repair people when they say they will and the issue is usually resolved. Also, it’s easier to describe the problem to someone when you call, especially if it’s a weird one.

I called AHS for our dishwasher and the guy came out and said that he couldn’t work on it because he thought the garbage disposal was blocked up, and the garbage disposal wasn’t part of the dishwasher. He couldn’t do anything until an order was placed for the garbage disposal. So, then I did an online order for the garbage disposal, and then when I got home later that day I had gotten a message from American Home Shield that they had gone and put in an order for the garbage disposal as well so that I wouldn’t have to pay another fee.
By then I had called the lady back for the garbage disposal thing and let her know that American Home Shield had already had somebody come out, they had already fixed the garbage disposal and that everything was taken care of. And when I talked with the lady on the phone she was rude. But the contractors do great. I just think that the lady that answered the phone didn’t tell people that they need make sure exactly who it is that we're letting in our home and that we need to double-check first before we open our doors to people because I had called and I had made the appointment with them, and that it's not their fault that American Home Shield did it. I didn’t know that they had called and they were gonna have the same company come out and fix it.
My dishwasher still doesn’t work. When the first company came out the guy said it was the two wheels that were on the side, that was why it was not drying. And then he said it was a garbage disposal. So the people replaced the garbage disposal. They put a brand-new one. And then the guy came back for the dishwasher, and he just put the wheels on there, and that was it. He didn’t even turn it on or run it. He didn’t check to see if the disposal was working. He just came and put the wheels and the sealant thingy on. But I absolutely love American Home Shield because I've had them for 16 years. As a matter of fact, I am gonna call back and see if I can get my dishwasher fixed. They get the job done, no questions asked. They are hard and clean workers.

When I submitted my recent claim to AHS, it was extremely fast. I wasn't even off the phone with calling it in and the contractors were already calling me on the other line to come out to do the service. I was impressed. The contractor that came was awesome. He was excellent. He told me something needed to be cleaned that wasn't making the contact. He even called in and checked up twice to make sure everything was going well after he did it. Everything's been great since then. That was the time that it was really cold and I was able to use my heat. I've had AHS years back but the service back then was horrible. That's why I'm so impressed because it's been a big difference from when I tried it and got back with them. Now, there's availability when you call the customer service. Before, there was no way of getting anybody on the line. It's been like a circle.
I had a previous claim prior to the heater. It happened to be a refrigerator and a microwave. And unfortunately, my products were not able to be fixed because those were older. And even the replacement was quick and efficient, so I have been recommending AHS to anybody that should have that protection. I was also able to put in for the appliances. Everything was breaking down at the same time. And I found out AHS was able to claim three different appliances at one time for the same deductible which is even better. So, it was amazing. My experience was excellent.

I had American Home Shield when I first purchased the house. I had them for a year and then it was up but I thought I really needed to get it started again just in case and I started it back in November. They’re a great company with what they offer and it’s fair. Most recently, my furnace was leaking so I called them and they sent Clear Sky out. I asked Home Shield if they could send Clear Sky out before, because I had dealt with them in the past, and Home Shield was able to send them out again. Clear Sky did awesome work and got it all done in a day. It took a little bit because they had to wait for the furnace to get there. But as soon as they got it, they installed it. Also, they did a little bit of customization so it was awesome.

I've been with American Home Shield since 2008 and they're decent. Whenever I call, they always respond. Whatever issue I have, it's always taken care of in a timely manner. As soon as I call them they always have a contractor call me back. I never have to wait any period of time if I have something broken. G&L Appliance Service came out and they were ahead of time. The claim was nothing major but everything went fine. The oven wasn't lighting nor heating, and then something was burnt out. The tech just did a replacement and it didn't take no more than about 10 to 15 minutes. What I don't like about AHS though was once, my garbage disposal was broken and they wanted to give me a generic one, which I didn't think was fair. But I really am satisfied with them. I always get whatever issue I have resolved. I like American Home Shield.

I've has this service for 3 years and have been happy with them for the most part. As advertised. However, I've now had to have the same appliance repaired for a 4th time, paying every time. I could have replaced it on my own for what AHS is charging me. There is nowhere to leave a comment and no one to talk to regarding customer service. I just renewed my account with them a few weeks ago at a huge increase. This will be the last time I renew with them.

My AC went out and I live in South Florida, The customer service people were not very helpful and read from a script. The vendor assigned AAA ALL Brand Appliance still has not called me and it's been over 24 hours. When the vendor is call you get an answering machine, which does not give their name just leave a message, Still have not heard back. Very slow to react to a claim and seems like AHS want to draw out the service call. Not the first time this has happened when I have an issue. Would not recommend America Home Shield to anyone considering home warranty.

The dishwasher didn’t turn on and there was no power. I called American Home Shield for a service and they assigned it to one company. I put the claim in on Thursday and on Friday, I right away got the notification that someone was gonna call me. But I called them right away and they said they couldn't fit me in until Monday at best. But that wasn’t acceptable. So, I went back to American Home and they did the legwork for me. The called and got me somebody to come that Friday. So, I was extremely pleased with the response. I had to push them to get them to understand what I needed done, but they called then I spoke to the appliance company and the woman on the phone was fantastic.
The first company could care less that I said never mind, but the rep from the second company, R&D Training & Technical Services, said that they always get cancellations through the day and she'd make sure to call me if she could get somebody over to me that day. And within an hour, she called me back and someone was at my house by 12 o’clock. So, I was very happy. The tech also did a good job and took care of the problem. Plus, he left everything nice, neat, clean, and the way it was.

I like the peace of mind of having things that can be taken care of if they break. I've been with American Home Shield for six years and most of the time, I do my claims on the phone. It was better when the service wasn't outsourced. I've noticed moving from the Panhandle down to the Tampa area. I felt like my service was better when I was up in the Panhandle, but that might just be the nature of the area and the contractors I work with here. But the contractors have been fine. We have a few little blips here and there, but if I have an issue with them, they're usually pretty quick to take care of it.

I was given a window as to when the contractors could be contacting me. It was like 24 to 48 hours. The contractors were awesome. They were really good. They adjusted the vents to make sure there was proper airflow to other rooms.
As a homeowner, you get afraid of the expenses that might come up from plumbing, electrical or appliance issues. So, by having the warranty, I was always prepared to know what something was gonna cost me. When I went home-buying, the seller told us that they used American Home Shield and that they were happy with them and it was like a godsend a lot of times when they had AC issues. So, I went off of that referral. So far, so good.

The evaporator of the AC unit outside was not working and it was tripping the breaker. We submitted a claim with AHS, then a from Advantage Air came in. He checked everything from the AC in the attic as well as the outside unit, and he determined that the problem was because of the age of the outside unit. He said that this unit lasts 10 years and I’ve been at the house for almost 18 years. He said that it gave me the lifetime of it and at that point, it was burning out the coil and has a leak for the gas. It was R12, which is the old gas, and they couldn't refill it anymore. So, he reported to American Home Shield, explained to them that it needed a lot of repair with the leakage of the gas as well as the coil and the engine being not in well conditions. And even though he put a replacement on it, he still had to fix the coil and the leakage. So, he said it’d be much better to just change it and that was what they did.
It took American Home Shield a day to approve that, then the contractors had to wait until American Home Shield’s provider had the unit available. So, that took another half a day, then they came in and did their work. When they first came in, I asked them how long it would take to change the unit and they said that it would take two to three hours. And they did it on the three hours just like they said, so I was happy about that.
Since then, everything has been fine with the exception of the unit. I still feel that it’s not blowing sufficiently and it’s not cooling the house like it should be. The tech mentioned that because of the change of the older unit to the new one, they had to change the valve with a copper. He also said that eventually, I'm gonna have to change that one as well because it's not gonna be at the same level of efficiency as the new unit. Other than that, I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost six years. They understand my situation and respond quickly to any repairs.

My experience with American Home Shield in February was a good one. But the one in September went on for seven weeks and it drove me crazy. It was a nightmare. Every time someone had to come back out, the same guy wasn't sent out. It was like they started all over again. I was behind and it took two weeks to get somebody back. But for my claim in February, I told the appliance company to send me the same guy. He came out three times and we finally got the problem resolved.
When you call the Home Shield number, you get any kind of random person and they try to look back at what the problem has been. They try to be cordial but you know that they're just doing their job. But during that seven-week experience, I kept asking who else I could talk to because I felt like my problem was huge. If a normal person took seven weeks and had four different contractors, they would say, “Home Shield, you suck.” I get my frustrations back about those seven weeks when I think about it. I took two trips to go down there to resolve the problem and that’s not the reason why you have the policy.
I was with Home Shield for several years. I like the peace of mind. You just wanna make sure that if something goes at a second home, it's vital to have something like that. If you have kids that go down, get to the house and something doesn’t work, you have some kind of peace of mind to know that somebody will come and fix it. However, when anybody would go, it would be for like a week or two. Oftentimes, I would have to fly down in order to get the problem resolved. I just sold that home and I bought a policy for the new owner.

The two men who came over from A1 Mitchell’s Heating & Cooling were first-class. They were wonderful. I could not say enough about them because they bent over backwards. They did not know if they can get the parts because the heater is an older one, and they said, “It might take a few weeks. I do not know if it can be found.” And within three days, they had expedited it overnight from Virginia. They were a warm, delightful, welcoming and caring people. Their service was great. I was thrilled and I was doing a happy dance.
I was with American Home Shield for years and then I switched to somebody else. But, what concerned me to go back with AHS was that I did not get this expedited service from the other provider like I did this time. My mother lives with me and she is 97 years old, so when it got cold and I needed the heater so badly, I did not have any heater in the house. I feel so blessed at the way they came in and saved the day. American Home Shield has always been good to me, and I have never had any problems with them.

We had a plumbing issue under the sink in the kitchen. The tech had to go up and under there. When I saw it I just was stunned. We have been living here for a couple of years and he found they have glued the pipe to the next pipe instead of putting a ring on it. He also looked at the bathroom and it had the same thing. We love whoever comes out and we've never had a problem with the contractors. They’ve been very nice and professional. With the things that they have done, everything’s functioning fine. The last thing that we had was the furnace downstairs and the tech fixed it with no issue. Even if you’ve already owned the house, get American Home Shield. They cost you a little bit but it pays for itself. We love it. I wouldn’t dare let it go. One of these days, you’ll have a big problem and then you have a help to pay for your problem.

I called AHS for our furnace and Reliable Mechanical Services came out the same day. We had to wait for the furnace to be ordered, and that took about 5 days. AHS was professional and have responded to our requests in a timely fashion.

The electric at the front of the house was not working. I went to AHS' website and filled out a form. It's a good website and it's very easy to maneuver through the different questions. It said in there that they would get back to us within a day and they did, right away. The company who came was great. It's the second time they've come out and I really like them.
There was a switch in the garage they have to pop back off and we had to look for it. We got all the books against the wall, which we moved away and then we found the switch. I was told not to put the boxes there anymore and then now we know where it is for the future. All in all, AHS is very good at sending out the right people for the job. I would recommend anyone to go to AHS.

When we just moved in, we had Dan’s Pro-Lock come out to change our locks and make new keys. The guy who came was very courteous and took about 45 minutes. With AHS, we like the security of knowing that any surprise that might come up, we’ve got someone to turn to. We also bought it for the buyers that bought our house.

For several years now, I've had American Home Shield. When I had two issues - one with the oven and one with the dishwasher - they sent out GE Appliances. The tech was very professional and he was on time. He fixed both issues the first time. Everything went excellently.

The customer service team can’t go beyond the policy and I find it odd that I can’t get a question answered when it’s about insurance. Because I would kinda like to know what happened, what went wrong, and how much it cost, and they don’t give me that information. They don’t go into detail about how much anything costs. I have to pay a deductible of $125 every time somebody goes out, so I wanna know how much of that is going towards the repairs.
There’s one outfit called Cool Image and hey were called out to do repair on the air conditioner. They never gave me an invoice. They told me I had to go to American Home Shield for the invoice. I spent hours of back and forth with both of them. I ultimately never got anything. I talked to the girl in the office and she asked me why I wanted that information. I told her it was for my record, and that I wanna know what went wrong and how much it costs typically if I were to pay it out of pocket. She then proceeded to ask if I thought they were cheating me. They may do good work out in the field but their customer service in the office is in dire need of improvements. I’m not gonna work with them ever again. If something else happens, and they wanna send them out, they are not going out on my job. I was asking a question and they were telling me that I was accusing them of stealing.
When I had a claim for the stove, they had to have a part replaced but they couldn’t get that part. They told me it was okay for me to go out and buy something that was like in the 400 range, and I couldn’t find anything in the 400 range in California. So I went a little higher and then they told me that I had to get an insurance on the product for at least a year or three. They told me that it was the only way that I was gonna get reimbursed. So I did and it was kind of pricey. But when they had to buy something, I asked if they had to get the extended warranty for that and they said no.

The stove wasn't turning off completely. The heating element to the bottom of the oven had melted. The ice machine stopped working too. So I called that one time and got it all repaired. I told the agent what the problem was and she found me a repairman that could come to the house. Once she found a repairman, I paid my 100 bucks and that was that. It was an outstanding experience. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and professional. He was courteous and quick.
The only issue I ran into was I got three different dates when I would call back to the contractor company. They called and said they would be here on this day and then they sent someone out. But it turned out that they had to order the part. After they ordered the parts, they said they would let me know when the parts came in. When the part came in, not all the parts came in at the same time. So when all the parts came in then they set up the appointment. I kept on calling for about two weeks and they should have just told me initially that I have three separate parts coming in and that they were gonna wait for all three parts to come in then they would set up the appointment. That would have been fine.

I wasn’t super in love with how the furnace claim went down but ACI acted extraordinary. We were without heat and the fellow told AHS I needed a new furnace, but they didn’t wanna do that, so several people worked for a day. So there was another day all four us freezing. After that, AHS decided they wanted a second opinion and then they said they didn't want a second opinion and that they would just have a different person from the same company come out. They also told AHS that I needed a new furnace. I was a little frustrated that they did all of that just trying to save dollars instead of taking good care of me. We’ll still need a new furnace, so it wasn’t a good financial decision or a customer care decision.
In general, I love AHS. Sometimes, it takes a long time to get a live person on the phone and that’s kind of a drag. But they tend to really take good care of me and fix things and replace them when they need to, except for this one time. I got my mother to sign up with them and I should be getting a $25 check from them. But I never have heard about that. My mom signed up in California and my sister too.

I had a plugged drain in the shower. I called Home Shield and they sent out someone in an hour. It was pretty quick. I wasn’t sure if it was in the main line or in one of the shower things, but the plumber checked a couple things over and said it was in the shower. So he brought his machine in there and took him about three times to get it out and it’s been working good ever since. He was a hard worker and a good guy. He was here for about half an hour and he was gone. I’ve known this guy. He’d been around a long time and he knows his business. He is a good plumber. I like Home Shield but I don’t want the rate increase. I was paying $31 a month for almost a year, and now they wanna go to $51 a month and I’m not gonna pay that. That’s ridiculous. But I’m gonna call them this afternoon and talk to them about it.

American Home Shield is reasonably-priced. I feel secure that I have the coverage. Submitting a claim is pretty simple. J & J Appliance came out and did an excellent job on the washer. The tech had professionalism, and he’s honest. He didn't try to do more than is necessary. He explained the problem very well and got the job done quickly. I've been with AHS for more than a year now. I’m doing renewal automatically. It’s on autopay.

American Home Shield really helps to please or do the things that make homeowners comfortable, so we’re quite happy. I had friend who was an air condition contractor and he used to do work with AHS so I’ve been aware of them for a long time. They embodied everything that the service company could ever hope to do.
Hornet Appliance Services were very polite, very prompt, and easy to work with. They did excellent work and were very neat. They came out for a leak and it turned out that it was a gasket on the joint. They replaced that and then shortly after that, our pump went out. When we started running it properly, the pump started making noise, and then it went out pretty quickly after that. And we found out we had another leak.
We were getting an error code about the discharge. They couldn’t determine that until they had fixed the gasket so they took care of it. I was trying to troubleshoot the leaky water and I found there was a cleanout on the pump. It was a known problem for Maytag because sometimes socks would get sucked into it and it would go into the pump and clog it up. You had to open the cleanout. I was hoping to just buy the cleanout plug, but the design had changed and you had to buy a whole pump. I had even gone and bought my own pump, thinking I was gonna replace it myself. I was given a super price so I bought it, but I didn’t install it. When it all boiled down, I was afraid that I’d mess something up, so I called Hornet back. They came back out here and changed the pump on their last trip.

Our home is now three years and we have stepped out of the warranty for the new home. We've been with American Home Shield for three months now at most and our experience has been positive at this point. The breakers on my panel were tripping for unknown reasons. It was cutting off key areas in the kitchen to include the refrigerators and the microwave. It was happening on one side of the area. My wife called American Home Shield and Kelly Brother’s Electric was assigned as our contractor. They came out pretty much as they had stated that they would come out. They were very professional and we had a very positive interaction with them. Our breakers have not had an issue since when the week prior to the repair, the breakers were tripping five times in the week.

At first, Sears came for an appliance claim that I filed with American Home Shield. AHS then sent another person and after that, they called me up and made an offer that I took. I went and got myself a replacement device instead of having to wait and had it installed. AHS and I settled it. They did well with this claim. I've been with them for a lot of years and I've never had a problem with them.

When the lights and fixtures in one of the bathrooms lost power, submitting my claim for it was very simple. I just did it online and AHS gave me the number to call. I called the number and scheduled for the contractor to come out. They came out when they said and everything worked out great.

I had three different calls and two of those were for plumbing. Sirius came out for both cases and they were wonderful. The tech was fantastic. It was good all the way around. One issue was a stopped pipe and one was a spout on my bathtub. They found excellent and very quick solutions for both. So it was great. I’m pretty satisfied with Home Shield.

I had a home before this one and had AHS. However, I had to live in an apartment for a year while I was building a house and didn’t have AHS during that time. Before the builder’s warranty went out, I got a contract with AHS again. The people they send seem to know what they’re doing. When my refrigerator went out, they sent somebody to fix it. They got the parts yesterday and we set up for them to fix it on Monday. Although it takes a little while to get everything done, it always gets done.
However, they should somehow speed up the process. Now, somebody calls within 24 hours and come the next day. So it takes about three days to get somebody there. Then once they get there, then they’d say that this is what’s wrong. Then they order the parts, and it takes about another week before something really gets fixed. Most things wouldn’t be too big a deal, but a refrigerator is tough to get around. I’ve probably been without that refrigerator for over two weeks now. The repair people know that it’s a Whirlpool and they know what model it is. I wish that when they come out to check the issue, they would already have stuff they need to fix it.
I also had to have a dishwasher fixed and AHS was able to get it fixed quickly for me. I was very thankful that I had insurance with them. They have done a remarkable job. I have a brand new contract and a brand new number. On the phone, I have no problem but online, it takes me to that old address and it says that it’s expired. I wouldn’t have a house that didn’t have AHS's insurance policy set. I’ve been dealing with them for several years now. They’re outstanding and they’ve always responded. I’m also a real estate agent and recommend that people use AHS.

Everything is good so far and I’m glad I have this service. In fact, I would recommend people who have a new house to get this warranty because American Home Shield covers a lot of good stuff. We had a claim with Patriot Plumbing and it was good. It was very fast. They came right away to fix the problem and I thank them for that. They tried to unblock the toilet and everything has been working fine since then. The technician was very professional and nice too. He did a great job on the work.

We had two appliance issues and submitting the claims was an easy process. Doing it online is the easiest. You send the request in, and then right away they send a thing over for somebody to come out and look at it. We had a guy come out for our dishwasher, one for our washer, and one for the hot water heater. They were all great. Within 24 hours of submitting the claims for the dishwasher and washer, the techs came out. While the tech for the hot water heater came out after about three days of sending in the claim. They all came out instantaneously and it was all fast and good work.

I like the idea that they respond and they do what they can to try to rectify what’s going on. Their contractor managed to fix an old garage door. My husband passed and it was wreaking havoc on my back because I had to get out of the car, come in the house and raise the garage door up. American Home Shield covered it and for the time being, I can push a button and open my garage door. I’m here by myself, so that’s important to be able to just come in and garage door down and I’m safely in the house.

The dryer was not heating and it was not drying. So I paid and I created a service request on Sunday and stated that somebody is coming on the Wednesday. I was happy. But on Wednesday, nobody showed up. I called them and they said that nobody was coming until next week. I asked them if they could have someone who can see the dryer? They sent someone on Friday. He came and I was not at home but my mom was there. She doesn’t speak English. They changed something and told that you have a problem in the vent, and they left. Then I kept on talking to them, asking that they cover the whole dryer. They initially said that the contractor will fix it, but later they said that no, they are not going to fix the venting of the dryer because it’s out of the coverage.
I fixed the venting system by myself yesterday, but when I started the dryer, it still doesn’t work. Somebody who came before, he did not fix it properly. So today they sent someone else and still it’s not fixable. It’s not very pleasant experience. I’ve been chasing them. There is someone working right now and he is trying to fix the dryer, and it seems like it’s not working and it’s almost one and a half weeks. How will you manage one and a half weeks without a dryer?

The issue started with the fact that my Whirlpool wasn’t working, and we figured it was the GFI. The tech helped me locate the GFI and it was broken, so he fixed it. The Whirlpool started working after that. From my experiences off of AHS, their website is very good because I can find the problem very specific. Once I’ve put the claim on the website, I normally get a call from a technician or a contractor within 24 hours, and that’s wonderful. I get some kind of contact. Usually, the problem was resolved within the week unless it’s something big like the microwave issue. That one took a longer time. But they are very quick to resolve. My experience has been very positive.

I had American Home Shield before they pissed me off. They didn't take care of something that they said will take care of in the contract. When I called, it was spent on my AC unit, then they said somehow I will have to pay out of my pocket. I said, “Really? Okay. Roger that.” But I’m still not gonna play these stupid games this time. I got back with them and the recent claim got taken care of. I submitted the claim over the phone and the technician from All Brands Appliance came out in two or three days. He was all right. I had to pay somebody to clean all my air ducts and vents though, so I wasn’t pleased. But there are a few more things I gotta get taken care of. I’ll see what AHS will do.

I turned on my InSinkErator garbage disposal and a very loud sound occurred. This has happened before and what it was at that time was that the bearings went in the device. This time, when Apex Plumbing came out, the tech took it apart and examined it, shook it and that's to see if he could hear any of the bearings loose inside the device before he changed it. And apparently, some type of a metal plug had gotten down in there. He had me done in less than 45 minutes. He was very professional and very good at his job. He explained everything. I am highly satisfied with Apex. If I have another plumbing issue, I will be seeking their assistance through American Home Shield. I'll recommend that they come back because they were very good.
We got our American Home Shield policy right after we got the house in 1997. When we find a good provider for anything, we stick with it. The only thing is with the amount of money that we pay monthly, the service charge really should go away. Right now, they charge a $75 service charge that they collect upfront and I understand that. But we've had very few claims and we were a long term user of the product and I feel that maybe after 20 years of staying with the company, the service fee needs to be forgiven.
I'd tell people to get it. It's one of the best that I have seen on the market. The companies they use seem to be the most reliable to get done what you need to have done quickly. I called, they gave me the information, and I made the phone call, and the person was here that afternoon. How much better can you get? That was same day service. It was fantastic.

Delta Appliance Repair was sent by AHS and they repaired my refrigerator. The icemaker was not working correctly. The tech came out and looked at it to see what the problem was. He said he had to order some parts. He called me a couple of days later and said as soon as the parts come in, he would come out and fix it and he did. He was a perfect guy. I liked him.

We continued with the American Home Shield contract we were given and changed it to our name. We've been with them for a couple of months and their contractors have been good. When D & S Plumbing was sent out, they were able to fix the problem although it was a bigger problem and was more like a state fee issue.

A few years back, American Home Shield changed their protocol a bit, where they send someone out to diagnose the problem and then they send somebody else out. So it takes two appointments, somebody to diagnose and someone to repair. But it used to be that they did everything in one shot, and for those of us that work, that was very, very convenient. The two appointments by the new protocol is somewhat cumbersome. If the person tells you exactly what they think is wrong, they could by-pass the diagnosis and just have a repairman come out and fix it that day in one visit, rather than two visits. But their contractors have been fine.

The furnace wasn't turning on. There wasn't a flame coming out. When I got home that weekend, it was cold and the house needed some heat. I originally called a different company and they told me that something cracked inside the furnace and that I had to get a new furnace. I was gonna finance the furnace for over $5,000. Had they used any other finance company besides Wells Fargo, I would have a new furnace in the house right now. But because I didn't like Wells Fargo, I told them that I wasn't gonna finance this furnace. I called Home Shield and they sent J&S out to the house. I was so pissed, and so was J&S, because of what the other company tried to rip me off with $5,000 for a furnace. J&S was just absolutely fantastic. The guy had the part in his truck, came back and put it on. Now you can't even stay in the house. It's so hot.
This is the first time that I used Home Shield for something major like a furnace. When the dryer went out, I used AHS for that and they were Johnny-on-the-spot with that. That was an appliance and I didn't consider that something major. But for a furnace or something major like that, Home Shield came through and I was just blown away, especially when I had a $5,000 bill hanging over my head for a new furnace. They were courteous, friendly and quick to respond. They got the right repair people to come out and take care of it.
I can't praise Home Shield and J&S enough for what they did. They're now my furnace people and if anything goes wrong, I'm calling them. I have already told numerous people about Home Shield already. They're definitely worth the money every month. I know I can depend on Home Shield to get the right people out, especially for something big like a furnace or an air condition. And that's what I've been telling people that I know about Home Shield 'cause they did a fantastic job.

AHS is honest about their service. Although I had issues with people they sent out before, they remedied that. Everything they said they would do, they’ve done for me if I needed it. When I had issues with the heating element, De Hart Plumbing got it fixed. I had two different technicians and both of them were great. They needed to order a part, so they patched it up to where it would work. Then when the part came, they came and replaced the part. I’m very satisfied with the service. They were God-sent.

I had issues with both of my toilets. One was not holding water and the other one wouldn't let me flush. I called through automated service through American Home Shield. I told them that I needed to make a claim. It was all recording and I told them two toilets. Somebody called me back and that's when they issued me Home Choice Services. They told me that was gonna be the company and gave me their number and told me I could either call them or they said somebody from the company will call me. Home Choice did a good job. The tech was very quick and very knowledgeable. He came in, he knew exactly what the problem was for each toilet, and got the things off his truck and fixed one and then went in there and fixed the other one. He was very efficient. I haven't had any problem with both toilets. I was satisfied.

AHS is better than the people we had before. Recently, our oven wasn’t keeping the right temperature and we submitted a claim with them. After a couple of days, a tech from Silver Star came out. He was really good and since repair, the oven seems to be doing better.

Submitting the claim was very simple. Even if it was my first time, I went online, put it in, done. The only suggestion I have is that when I submitted the claim, it was a little confusing from the point of the response I got back from the webpage said, “Here’s your mechanical guy. We’ve contacted him. You may wanna call him to set up an appointment.” It was very confusing as to whether I needed to call him or the contractor will call me right away because by the time I got around, I figured, “Oh, I’ll call on Monday. What’s the point in calling on a weekend anyway and he’s never gonna call back?” It was like, “I submitted the claim, do I have to call?” It should say, “We submitted the claim, he will be calling with you in 24 hours.” Other than that, the claim was very easy to put on the webpage.
The response time was extremely quick. I called on a weekend. I didn’t think I would get a return call until Monday morning. And by Sunday, I got a return call then an appointment set up for Monday. The contractor then came out on Monday. The guy was was on time, professional, and polite. The thing that makes a great contractor is the kind of communication. You know when the guy is coming, you know he’s on his way, he’ll be there in 30 minutes. It’s not like you’re sitting there all day going, “Where the heck is he?” Great communication.
The guy came out and knew what he was doing. He showed me something else - what was wrong in the area that was unrelated. He took a picture of it for me so that I could get back to it and have it fixed as well - not by him, but by another service-type thing, and just was as nice as he could be. And then, he fixed it very efficiently. “This is what you need, I need to go to get a part, I’ll be back,” came back, fixed the part. Boom, bam, done. I could not have picked a contractor to do a better job. It was my first claim and we’re off to a great start.

I had two things going on at the same time. The first issue was on the heating and the tech that AHS sent out did a very good job. He was very professional and clean. When he came in, my grandson, who lives in the basement, showed him what the problem was. The tech realized the problem and fixed it for us. It’s an old furnace and it didn’t take him that long to fix it. It wasn’t that big a deal as it was just a switch on the gas furnace, but I appreciated his service.
The other issue was the door on the dryer that wasn't going shut. Another person had to come out for that and when he was here the first time, he looked at it and saw what the problem was. Then he came back after he got the parts not a week later and it took him about an hour to fix it. All in all, I was really happy with both of the techs. Other than that, it used to be that when you submit a claim with AHS, you got to wait for two hours to get somebody on the phone. But this time, I just did it on their website and it worked perfectly.

We use AHS to take care of our rental property. ‘Cause it's easier for us to call and file a claim and have somebody go look at it than it is for me to run over every time that something happens. When we've had to file a claim, it's been pretty responsive in getting somebody out there to look at something and get it done. Precision Engineering came out to look at the AC at one of my rental properties and it turned out it was an electrical issue, and I don't know why they couldn’t fix it, but the GFI outlet had tripped and they couldn’t reset it. So, they basically came out, looked at it and didn’t do anything. But I submitted that claim online to AHS and it's been fine any time we've had to use the website.

We had a couple of bad experiences with trying to get repair people. Unfortunately, there are people who want to rip you off and tell you there’s more wrong than there actually is. We went with American Home Shield because we figured everything would be under contract. They would be sending people and we wouldn't have to worry about finding someone. We've been with them since 2016 and we've been very happy with them and with everyone that they have sent. Our experience has been great. They've been very good. We feel very comfortable and we don’t worry about things breaking. AHS gives us a very good feeling of being protected. When our AC was not cooling, I called AHS and the process was automated which was fine. It was very straightforward and I had no problem. Integrity Air Conditioning was assigned to our case and they were terrific. The AC fan was broken and it was replaced. It has been perfect since then.

The A/C wouldn’t work right and, overall, it had some blockage where there was an extra filter in there which was not needed. A/C Rescue was sent by American Home Shield. The technician was great. He came at the time he said he would and gave me a call when he was on his way. He did the job, and it worked out okay.

The AC machine was working but there was an error message on the thermostat saying, "System malfunction, call technician." I went online and submitted a claim with AHS. Their website was pretty good, then I was given a message when the contractor would come out. The contractor himself also contacted me half an hour before he could be there. He was professional and he conveyed what he found out. And so far, the AC's performance has been good.

I was set up on a month to month program. When I stopped it they continued to call for renewal.. Im ok with that but they continued to bill me for months after I stopped payment... And I didnt know that until I started getting calls and letters from a collection agency. Saying that I owed them money... This is now on my credit report.

AHS turned down paying for my toilet floor flange replacement, saying that the damage was not due to normal wear and tear. Two plumbers that worked on it said that damage was due to flange just being old and worn out. AHS needs to reimburse me $450, which is what I ended up paying to have it fixed.

We purchased a home warranty for our home. Our furnace went out and we contacted customer service and they sent out someone to look at it. The furnace was older and was unable to keep the house warm in winter. AHS sent out a contractor who was unable to fix the issue. They sent out another contractor who could not fix the issue. They sent out a 3rd contractor who said our issue was that the furnace was dirty and that was the problem. They finally sent out a 4th contractor who said we needed a new furnace. The furnace was 16 years old. During all of this back and forth we had our own HVAC person come in to look....he said it needed to be replaced.
We got several quotes from both the contractors sent by AHS and our contractor. The quotes from the AHS people were far higher than from our guy. We looked into having them do the work, but found out the "coverage" did not cover the vast majority of the work. Based upon the lack of knowledge and high out of pocket for a system through AHS (high out of pocket because "replacement" does not cover even half of the total cost because they exclude everything except the furnace itself) we went with our known and reliable HVAC contractor. We asked for a cash out in lieu of replacement at this point, frustrated and disappointed with all interaction with AHS and the contractors they sent out. We were told that the cash out was $660!!! $660 to replace a 90% high efficiency furnace.
That was mid January, 2020. It is now March 7th. The cash out was approved on 1/24/2020. I am still waiting for payment and have called numerous times with nothing but a runaround. They say they will call back, but they do not. They say they will follow up, but they do not. They cannot explain why the check has not been issued.....they acknowledge that we have provided all the required documentation. I am totally disgusted and will be canceling our contract. DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY!!!

2-9-2020, sent AHS online service request for leaking pipe. 2-10-2020, plumber called would come out to house on 2-12-2020. 2-12-2020, plumber cut 2 small holes in drywall to see under tub for leak. Plumber said either tub needs to come out or pine wood ceiling in shower below tub needs removal to fix leak. 2-17-2020, plumber emailed me an estimate of $1857.45 to cut through bathroom tile to have better access to leak and to replace tile. This was my cost. The repair for leak was estimated at $900.00 this was AHS cost.
2-18-2020, called AHS to discuss. Plumber never mentioned having to go through tile for repair. AHS said they would call me back next day. They never did. 2-20-2020, I called AHS and explained everything again, they said they would call me back next day. They never called. I took out 1 pine board to see the leak, called the plumber who helped build my house, he fixed leak for $75.00. 2-22-2020, called AHS to tell them and asked for cash pay out, they said they would call me back. They never did. 2-24-2020, called AHS talked to supervisor, he said can not help. I asked to cancel membership, he transferred me. AHS representative said could not cancel because no supervisor available, but would send email confirming cancellation. Never received email. All these phone calls lasted between 20 to 30 minutes.

I had a claim for a bathtub shower drain. I cleared it before the tech came, but because I have tenants, I wanted to make sure that it was absolutely clear and I wasn't just pushing it down the line. When the tech came, he was friendly and professional. He was on time. Everything went great. I use American Home Shield a lot but I'm often frustrated with them. I had a call for service on one of my properties last May. The technician was supposed to come back and some parts never came back. My tenant didn't tell me right away that they didn't come back, and then by that time, the contractor was no longer working with American Home Shield. It took me several calls to American Home Shield to get it resolved. I told them to send somebody back out and they were still trying to figure out what parts were needed, so I told them to send somebody else out and figure it out. The contractor is supposed to come out this Friday to that property.
Oh No! We do apologize for the back and forth and possible inconvenience this has caused. Twice in the last six months, we've had to have our washing machine fixed. The deductible we paid was $107, which was more than halfway to buying a new machine. When the guy was here, he said we had an issue with the ball bearings. Then the last time, it was smelled like gas. It seemed like instead of just replacing it, AHS stretched it out. However, when we had our refrigerator replaced, we didn't have a problem going through that process. It was quick. But for some of the smaller stuff, we've had to call a couple of times.

We heard the leaking from the expansion tank and when we checked it, we saw it dripping and then there was a pan that was built into the system that it was collecting in. We filed a claim online and their website worked great. I was told that I would hear from the contractor within 48 hours. They came out the very next morning and they did a great job.

I get tune-ups on my air conditioner in the springtime and in the fall. Then I got a newsletter from AHS saying that it was that time of year again for the spring tune-up. I called AHS and arranged with them to have somebody come out. Their representatives don’t speak English very well and are very hard to understand. They assigned Beaches to me. Apparently, they’re located on the other side of the state. They're over in Jacksonville and I’m over on the west coast in Hudson. But Beaches called me the same day, and the young lady said that they had somebody over here within the area that would be free in about 45 minutes and asked if it would be inconvenient if they'd come right over to do the service. It worked out perfectly. The guy was wonderful, very professional and polite. I would be proud to have him represent my company if I owned one. American Home Shield has been good. I’ve had them forever and they have always been so prompt.

My nephew said great things about Home Shield so I thought I wanted to try it. The only complaint we have is my nephew never got his referral and I also never got mine. We were supposed to get $25 but we never did. That was all what my nephew talked about. But other than that, the tech from Sears was here on time and my son let him in. He put the part on and cleaned up whatever he messed up. He was good.

I was with American Home Shield for about a year or two and then I dropped them. But, I regretted it and I'm glad I came back. I had a gas leak and their contractor had to shut it down for a while. They did everything well on it. They had a very professional work and the insurance covered just about everything. I'm very happy with the service. I like this warranty company because they are very well-informed. When you give them the information, they follow up right away. It doesn't take over 5 or 10 minutes to solve the problem. They contact the contractors right away and then they email me -- it is very professional. I was in the military for 30 years and they seem like they work in the military too. They do things by the standards and that is what I like. They are a very good company to work with. I had people already asking me about AHS and I've referred them to it. Even my son-in-law from Texas called me, so I referred him to them.

My dishwasher wasn’t cleaning the dishes. It wasn’t getting hot and it was getting like a white film on the dishes. So American Home Shield sent out one guy, he replaced a part, and it still didn’t work. They sent him out again, replaced another part, and then it still didn’t work. So then they sent Sears, and then Sears fixed it in a second because the first guy never hooked up my heating element. He didn’t hook it up to the hot water. It was done really quick but it took three times. But that’s not American Home Shield's fault. It was the person they sent out. American Home Shield responded really fast every time. I would recommend them. I just joined American Home about two months ago. I was with another company and it was absolutely horrible. Their response time was horrible, and I’m very impressed with American Home Shield as far as their response time.

Filing a claim online is easier for me. And usually, within a couple of days, we’ll get a call and then Sears would come out. They give you a four-hour window and although they are never early, they are never late. The guy who came for my refrigerator knew his stuff. He talked with us, showed us what was wrong and ordered the part, which came to our house. He then came back and put the part in. One time, AHS never got back to us for a repair person and we followed up with them. Otherwise, they’re usually pretty good.

North Star Appliance Repair came out and did a wonderful job. They diagnosed the problem, replaced the pump and the seal. They left. It worked for one and a half loads, then it quit. And AHS sent them back out here, and they figured out what the problem was and took care of it. And it’s working perfectly. So far, AHS is doing a good job. We did have an issue with the water heater, where the contractors came out and the guy that brought it up to code damaged the roof. And they had to come back out and fix their foul-up. But, they did it, so everything’s cool. The contractors of AHS have been all nice. However, some of them are not premium contractors. The only thing that could make it better would be if they use, particularly, for the heat and air, some premium companies with great reputations that have been here a long time. But I’m very happy with what I’ve got.

Hayes Appliance was sent out to repair the dishwasher of my mother-in-law, and that was replaced. They did wonderful. But with the other claim which was happening at the same time, for the water heater, the first one that contacted me Justin Smith LLC never really showed up. He said he was going to, but he never did. We got a little confused because both claims were happening the same time. That’s why I tried to help my mother-in-law sort it out. The new contractor, Prime Plumbing, seems to be on the job and doing well.

Submitting the claim online was an easy process, and the website was good. They then sent me an email to give me the phone number and who the company would be. Service Mechanical of Tidewater came out and said that they found the problem. They put in parts, but I had the same symptoms afterwards. I have a gas pack system, it is a heat and AC unit together, but it runs on gas whenever I need to burn it for heat. What happened was that it would stop heat and would blow cold air. So, the tech did not fully diagnose the problem. I was not there on the first trip, but I was there on the second one and so I spoke on that. The guy was very professional. Since they came out everything has been good. I had another claim with and the guy from a different company replaced the capacitor on the unit before. I've been with American Home Shield close to a year now, and I'm about to renew.

There was a misdiagnosis by the first company, where they said I needed a new well dug. Then, L&M came out and the tech found out it was the tank that had a hole or something inside the tank. It wasn't putting the pressure in it, so that triggered the pump. The pump itself was getting hot and shutting off and wasn't working properly, so that was changed as well.
I've had American Home Shield maybe about 10 years and I will find a new company. They just do patch jobs. I had my heat pump for years and every year we have to ask somebody to come out here and work on it. Sometimes, it's the companies that don't know what they're doing, and sometimes they do. And American Home Shield has a no replace policy, or at least they had one. Then they changed it. I don't think AHS is a good company.

We have a double oven and our top oven had locked itself shut. It ended up being the motor and at some point, it needed to be replaced. It was super easy to submit the claim and then the local company was in touch with us within 30 minutes or an hour. It was super quick. We had a schedule and then they came out. They looked at it and they had to order the part, and then came back a week later and replaced it. It all went really smooth.
We had American Home Shield previously for four years when we first moved into the house, but the contract expired. We re-enrolled back in January and I like them now because you can do month to month and you don’t have to enter into a contract anymore, so it’s nice. We’ve never had any issues with anybody we’ve ever had come out that was contracted by them to do work. They’ve all been very knowledgeable and been able to resolve our issues pretty quickly.

I’ve been in my home for 10 years. So, I changed everything, roofing, to the appliances. I got all new appliances and I was like I might as well get something to protect them. I usually see warranties and having my home, normally, something's gonna happen. So, I’d rather be on the safe side and not have nothing at all. And then, when I checked the research, they say AHS did well. So, I tried them out.
Recently, I had a problem with my furnace. It wasn’t cutting on from the actual heat. The unit was cutting on, but the furnace wasn’t. I went on the website of AHS and submitted a claim through that. They had the drop-down box of what the problem could be. The process was great. Normally, you would be talking to an answering machine, going through a fix-tone answering machine and it might take you about a couple of minutes. But on their website, it would take just a couple of seconds to do all that.
The reps told me they would get back to me once it got submitted. Then the company had called me. And they were gonna come out the very next day, but I wasn’t gonna be there, so they rescheduled me to a date when I was. So, they called me in a couple of hours and they got back with me to reschedule and told me when the technician was gonna come. And then, when the technicians came, they had like a time clock, letting you know when they were gonna arrive. So, that was nice too.
