It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. I love Home Shield's claim process. It's really easy and they call me. I've been with them for a year and I usually make the first claim online. When we had a problem with our microwave door, we were assigned to Mid America Electronic. Their tech checked it out and ended up ordering a new microwave. We also had a problem with the fridge. Some things inside the fridge were broken so he ordered replacements as well. Home Shield is great and there is no headache so I would definitely recommend it to everybody, which I am.

2 Sons Plumbing came out for a leak in one of our bathroom taps. I put my submission via American Home Shield's website and then I got a call from this contractor. They had to wait about a week before they could come out, but it was not an important leak, so that was okay. When the young man came out, he replaced some cartridge and did a good job. He was very professional. Everything has been working like a charm since he had been out. Our one-year warranty with AHS was given to us by our realtor when we purchased the house.

We had a furnace that was installed last year and its vent pipe had broken emitting carbon monoxide into the attic. AHS sent a technician very quickly. We've had AHS for 2 years and so far it's been great. It’s easy to go on their website and file a claim and pay the fee. And then usually they’re very quick to get in touch with me. We’re happy with them.

I submitted a claim online to AHS because my disposal had broken, it was leaking. Submitting it was quick. And the contractors were out there the next day. They did a good job and replaced it. I also had another issue with the refrigerator earlier this year and it was handled well too.

Choice Electric Heating & Cooling came out for our heating claim. The first time, he wasn’t quite able to get it, but he put some new parts in it, and then it went again and then he came back out again and fixed it. He’s just a really nice guy and he really tried to do a good job, and that’s worked ever since. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. He was an electrical contractor and my father was, so we could talk a little bit and chat about things we knew. We’d call him in a heartbeat if we needed somebody like that. The coverage of our AHS warranty is great, as well.

Every time I’ve had a problem, they’ve come and fixed it. I feel safe in my house now. Before, I wasn’t sure who to call or what to do if something broke. But since I’ve had Home Shield, if something goes down, I don’t feel all by myself anymore. I called them for my most recent claim because I wasn’t sure if I needed a garage person or an electrician. The guy came out and he fixed the chandelier and a little light bulb that was in there. He took off the light bulb and he showed me that there was nothing wrong with the garage. Someone just pulled the thing down. So there was no electric problem in the garage. He was wonderful. This is my man. They should send him back again if I ever have a problem. I’ve had other people come out and they’ve been okay. But this man surely knew what he was doing.

The heater was emitting a very burnt smell. We made a call with Home Shield and they assigned a technician from SBS-NC. He was out there the next day. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He checked both the units up and down and there was a piece of paper that was burnt within the unit upstairs. That was emitting the smell. He got rid of that and the problem took care of itself. He also did mention that if there was an issue in the next week or so, he could report it under the same work order and to not do another claim. The only issue I've had with AHS is that we keep getting a past due notice from even though we are not past due. I've called them three times and they said the IT Department is working on it. Other than that, everything has been going great.

My insurance is up for renewal next month and when I found out that my insurance didn’t cover everything, I upgraded it. But I could have been told sooner. I renewed twice and each time, I was never told about upgrading it for appliances. I didn’t have a total understanding of my contract and I didn’t do any kinda upgrades because I thought all those were in my contract. American Home Shield needs to give the whole spiel, tell people everything and what’s not covered so they would have a choice to have it covered or not, instead of leaving them in the blind and not knowing till after the fact.
My washer and dryer went bad and had I known they weren’t covered, I would’ve upgraded my insurance or my coverage but it was too late for me to do it. I wouldn’t have had to buy a new washer and dryer. I could’ve just had the insurance cover it. Recently, the air conditioner wasn’t cooling so, it needed a coil and Freon, which the contractor charged me $500 for. AHS covered $50 of it. But I’ve had previous experiences that were better such as when I had an issue with my air conditioning and with my swimming pool.

AHS sent out At Bay Appliances and they were efficient and on time. On the day they said they were gonna be here, they gave me warning, and it was easy working with them. But they couldn’t get the model number of the refrigerator, so they couldn’t get the right parts. Instead of repairing it, they’re going to replace the refrigerator and I was happy with the resolution. I got a thing from them to find out what kinda refrigerator I had and I sent it into them. So now, they’re gonna see what they’re gonna do. I had At Bay Appliances do my microwave, too. I got the parts in a week and a half and it took almost three weeks for them to come the second time. But once they got here, they fixed it, told me what was wrong, and how it could have happened. All in all, AHS has been pretty efficient and I'm happy with them.

I called on a Friday and Third Generation came out to check my heating system on Monday or Tuesday. It wasn’t blowing out hot air when it was cold outside. John, the guy who came, was excellent. When I took American Home Shield, I thought that my appliances were covered. But I found out they weren’t. From what I’m learning, if I knew it was what it was, I wouldn’t have gone with them. I wanted my appliances, my air conditioning unit, and my heating unit to be protected. I paid 800 for the year, but if something blows, it’s not covered and it’s gonna come out of my pocket anyway. I’m really not too happy with AHS.

The washing machine had an issue and when I filed a claim with AHS, they sent out Accord Appliance. My experience with them was awesome and the tech fixed it right away. But the last time that I complained about that washing machine, it seemed like the tech that came out didn't do anything. I could see the vent lightening and he said maybe the problem was with my vent. But I cleaned up my vent and the issue was still there. Then I found out when the tech from Accord Appliance recently came here that underneath was already burned. So, I liked him because he opened the washing machine, saw everything, and cleaned it up. All in all, I've been with AHS since 2011 and I'm okay with the coverage. The $75 co-pay is okay, too. But if it's like that and it's gonna be expensive, then I'm gonna buy a new one.

We made a geographical move from Redmond, Oregon to Hermiston, Oregon. With the home we sold in Redmond, we bought a contract for the buyer as a selling factor. So, when we came over and bought this house, we went, “You know what, we’re just gonna go ahead and, at least for a year, do a home warranty here.” And I’m glad we did because the motor in my heat pump went out. It was really great. We’re real happy with it. The fellow that came out got right on it and I’m real pleased. He was very prompt, very punctual, pretty good. I had a businessman here in town who I was talking to and he has an HVAC business. He said, “My experience with these home warranties is that they never produce what they say they're gonna produce. They never do what they say they're gonna do.” But he was definitely wrong in this case.

It’s mostly been good with American Home Shield. I’ve been with them for not long, since maybe February. It might be smart to have a warranty, and it has been. I looked at other providers but it looks like American Home Shield was the biggest, and it seemed like they were pretty good about their service. I have friends that have them, too, and I turned into a follower.
I had an issue with the toilet, and another for the washing machine. The guy that did the toilet was great. As for the washing machine, I called about the issue. It was a pump, but the guy from All Appliance said it was the top. He wrote up some crap about how the top’s been abused on the machine and it leaked. They then sent another guy because I complained, and I looked up his licensing. It is no good since 2014, and his reviews from 2012 are awful. The guy was a shyster. I called up, tried to get corporate, and said, “This company is not licensed.” That was awful. But I had a guy come out yesterday, and he figured the problem in 15 seconds.

I've been with AHS since July and I've submitted my claims online. It’s just easier to do it that way. I’ve never had a problem with the contractors too. They've been great. Sometimes I’ve had difficulty getting in touch with the contractors after I submit the request though. But overall, it’s been a great experience.

American Home Shield seems to be really good, especially in Dallas. I've had them for 20 years. The pool people here in Dallas are just wonderful. I had a pool problem that I caught with one of my cameras outside while I was in Florida. I went online and the company was out the next day. They sent me pictures and they had it fixed before I even got home. That’s how good they are. Also, our claim for an appliance issue went fine and the guy from Fleming was really good. He came when he said he would and did his job. He explained what he was doing and what he found out and it seemed to make sense.
We have another house in Florida and we've had some recent issues down there with one of the contractors that American Home Shield uses for plumbing. I had a hot water heater problem down there and it was covered under warranty but the company wouldn’t do it. I ended up having to find a second company and I ran through so many hoops. We were three weeks without hot water and we had a big couple of weeks planned that was ruined by not having any hot water and our guests having to take cold showers. The contractor is absolutely incompetent and AHS needs to dump them immediately. I came within an inch of dropping American Home Shield because of that.

My door wasn't opening. So, I called American Home Shield and spoke to a live person. They were friendly and they messaged me within an hour, letting me know when the appointment was. AC Garage Door was sent out and they fixed the broken part. It's still not working appropriately, but that's not their fault. Overall, the experience is fine.

I’ve been waiting for almost a month, which is a very long time, for Adam’s Appliance Repair to fix the dryer. They came one time and haven’t come back since then. They said they needed to wait for one order. They already have one order, but they waited for another one. And every time I call them to come and fix the dryer, they say they are still waiting for that piece and that they don’t have it. Then last night, they called me and wanted to know the serial number of the dryer. I said that I didn't know and have to go home to find out. When I got home, I called them, took a picture of the serial number, and sent it to them.
Since the contractor came the first time, I’ve been calling AHS. I told them that the contractor asked me to call them. But AHS told me to call the company, which will let you know when. Then when I called the company, they say to call AHS. Friday, I said that I wanted to talk to a manager. And the lady said that there was no manager there. I then asked for the supervisor. I was told there was no supervisor there. All this time, I’ve been waiting for and the contractor doesn't do the job. It’s inefficient.

The drainage with my washing machine was blocked. I thought the washing machine had gone dead, but it wasn’t my washing machine. It was the plumbing. I did my claim and American Home Shield sent Price Right. They came the next day. I was very satisfied with them. The were very professional. There were two of them and they weren’t here long and got the job done. I'm washing my clothes since then.
I've been a customer of American Home Shield for 10 years. I do my claims over the phone. It’s a hassle to get through to them sometimes, but their reps are usually very courteous. I didn’t care for when AHS raised the fee from 60 to 75, and I don’t like the concept of withdrawing money from the bank before the job is completed.

My son always calls AHS when we submit a claim. But then I was wondering though why sometimes AHS will take the money out of our bank account even before the people get here. We don’t mind them taking it out but we wanna wait till somebody comes out. But other times, we have to call AHS back to make sure they take it out. So, it’s just that part I don’t like. Recently, NW Sundance Services came out for the garbage disposal which was leaking water and when the technician took it off, he could see it. So, he replaced it. The contractor that came out was really nice. We've had some contractors that were not and we tell AHS when we call back in for something who we want and who we don’t want. And they’ve been sweethearts with that. They are really good.

The garage door opener wasn’t working. It was kinda intermittent. It would come up partially and sometimes up, sometimes not. I filed a claim on American Home Shield's website. It’s nice and easy to maneuver. I was told to expect Smokey's between 8:00 and noon. The tech got here about 8:30. So, it was pretty quick. He was really informative and did good work. My experience was to perfection.

I’m a returning American Home Shield customer and I’m going to two years with them this last time. Our garage door kept going up on its own. We’d wake up in the morning and it’s up. It was easy submitting the claim online, and I’m no computer wiz. I was given a 10:00-12:00 time window and the tech from Arizona Native Garage Doors was right on time. I watched him replace the fuse box and I love the service. He was very professional and if I had any other issue, I hope they would send him back. Overall, I’d tell others to get American Home Shield. And I’m not easy to please.

This is my first year with American Home Shield and I made my first claim with them online. I did it on a Sunday and initially, they gave me a date of Wednesday for a provider to come out and work on my refrigerator. But on Monday, I got a call from the provider who said that Home Shield had overbooked them. They couldn’t come out Wednesday but would come out that Tuesday instead which was even better. The tech was great and very professional. He called to let me know when he was 30 minutes out and when he was very close to my property. He told us initially what the problem was but he didn’t have the part. He was gonna see if he could get it by the next day, which he did, and he came back right then and installed it.
Before I signed up with American Home Shield, I googled them up and their reviews were all over the place. Some people were really good with them and some people hated them. My experience with them was very good. I haven’t had any problems with my refrigerator since the tech came. The only thing was when I did the claim online, it said Whirlpool, which was kinda weird. I didn’t know who the actual contractor was gonna be until they called.
Online, it was indicated that it was a beta test and that they were trying where you could change the supplier. Normally, they just default to whoever they wanna send out. But I guess they’re trying something new where they let you pick. It was two of them like that where it was manufacturer names, but it was actually the name of the people who would be coming. The first option they provided listed a specific company itself. But when I researched that company, the reviews weren’t that great. It was 3 on Google. I went to the second option which is somebody called Whirlpool but it didn’t give you the provider name. I was not sure if it was Whirlpool itself. They’re a manufacturer. But I felt better with that. On the website, it should try to identify who the contractor is going to be as it would have been helpful.

The dishwasher pump wasn’t draining. My husband called it in to file a claim and All Brand Appliance Repair called the next day to schedule an appointment. The guy came out quickly on a Wednesday, ordered the part that day, and then he came back on Saturday and fixed it. That was our first claim with American Home Shield and it was good.

We had a big hole in our ducting under the house, and the guy from TNT Ventures came out in less than a week. He was very nice, replaced it, got the work done and cleaned up after himself. The house is now warmer. My husband calls American Home Shield to submit a claim, and they have been a blessing. We bought this house two years ago and they have fixed several things for us, so it has been good. I’m glad we have it, and they take care of so much that others don’t do.

Filing my claim with American Home Shield was pretty simple. The contractor who came was a good guy. There was a lot of noise coming from the disposal so I thought it was broken. He flushed a bunch of water through it and it worked fine. He wasn't there for five minutes.

My oven was turning itself off after a two-hour period. If you were cooking something that took longer than an hour or an hour and a half, it was turning itself off and you'd go back to the oven and it would not be cooked. It happened on Thanksgiving. Most things that I cook are 30 minutes or less, so I didn't pay attention to it. Then I would cook some lasagna and then that didn't work, and then I was cooking a couple of other things that took longer than an hour. I got aggravated and called it in to American Home Shield. They sent Air Cool. The techs were very nice. I'm in my eighth year of owning my home, and I've had AHS that long. I like that I don't have to worry about things. They came and fixed the hot water heater yesterday. I haven't used it that much in seven years. I'm probably way ahead of me paying what's paid out, but it is peace of mind. AHS is very good.

I had a different provider and they were terrible, and people recommended American Home Shield. I've had them going on for two years now and I'd definitely recommend them, too. When I call, the response is great. Recently, the refrigerator went out and the contractor called me immediately after I filed the claim. The contractor called me, too, before he came. He was on time and everything was fine.

American Home Shield is always responsive and they show up on time. We have been with them for many years. Generally, we submit claims over the phone. I like to speak to someone so I can know what’s covered and make sure we’re getting the right service. They’ve got good contractors. The latest contractor we had, Hotshot Appliance, was on time and they knew what they were doing. They fixed the problem in 15 minutes and left.

I submitted a claim to AHS over the phone for my oven and their rep was the best. They sent Gilmore's Home and Solutions. It took about a week for them to come just because the part was not available. But as soon as they got the part they came in and got it done. They did a very good job. I’ve AHS for a long time, and I’m very comfortable. I can recommend that to anybody looking for a home warranty.

All American Plumbing fixed my garbage disposal. It wasn’t functioning correctly, but they did some magic to it. It started working. They were courteous and professional. I called the claim in to AHS, and the rep I spoke with was also courteous and really professional.

There was something wrong with the drain in the kitchen. I called it in and spoke to a live person. I thought he was courteous. He gave me the telephone number and told me that if the contractor won't contact with me within 24 hours, I could call the number. He gave me my confirmation code. The contractor that was sent out was good and the sink works now. I got the AHS plan 20 years ago and would tell anybody that it's a good warranty.

When there were pipes that were leaking, the contractor told me that if I needed somebody immediately, I should contact American Home Shield again since their earliest availability was two days from the day that I was speaking with them. It would’ve been nice to have somebody but since it was already booked, I didn’t feel the need to break it. Plus, they seemed alright on the phone. The leak part is fixed but now, there are holes in the wall caused by the repair. The drywall has to get dry though and then we need somebody to come out and actually touch the work so I haven’t called American Home Shield.

The first time, I was very happy with AHS when they had the guy come out and order a part for my refrigerator. He fixed it enough for me to keep using it until he got the new part because I am diabetic and I have insulin to keep it in there. Then he came and put the new part in. It’s been okay, it works fine. Then I've had two things redone because the people that came out to do them the first time either messed up or refused to fix it.
There was this guy for the washing machine. He was saying it was my fault but he never even took the front off and never looked at it. He turned it on, ran it a little bit, and turned it off. He said that I've abused and overloaded it and that it was not covered. I asked how he knew that I've overloaded my washing machine, it was brand-new. He said that he could just tell. I was just like, “Okay.” He pulled out a huge, broken piece from the outer drum and said if that break had been a little been bit lower, it would have flooded my cabinets, floor, and walls, and he had to replace my washer. Then the second guy that came out actually fixed the washer and he was great.
This last year at this time, somebody came out and fixed my furnace. They made me wait almost six weeks for a part in wintertime to come out. I was using space heaters that whole time which drove my electricity up like crazy. When he fixed it, I was not home. Then it made this horrible clonk-clonk sound. I took a video of it and texted the guy back. He informed me that that was the way it sounded. It’s metal and it hasn’t been used for a while and it’s expanding. I sent him the video and said that it didn't sound right to me. He called me back saying that I was not used to having a furnace that worked right inside our house. He did not fix it right and it just kept sound like the igniter was trying to start but it never did so we just turned the thermostat down so far that it wouldn’t kick on.
Finally, it quit running altogether. I called and made an appointment and AHS was gonna send somebody out. I looked the company up on the internet and they had horrible reviews. I told AHS that I didn’t want that company to come out in my house. Then my husband’s friend told us to check and see if the batteries are working in our thermostat. My husband checked and changed the batteries. We turned the furnace back on and it seemed to work okay so I called and canceled the order. Not even a week and a half later, the furnace had kicked on and it sounded okay like it normally did, only this time, it went clonk-clonk, and crashed. I had my husband turn the gas off to the furnace and then I turned the thermostat down so it wouldn’t come on. I called AHS and they were gonna send the same people out that I said before that I didn’t want.
We ended up getting a guy out that was amazing. It was actually the part that the other guy put in that he didn’t tighten down in the back. So, I didn’t feel that I had to pay my deductible of $125. I wanted that back because the first guy for the furnace didn’t complete his job. I had to call yesterday again and they said that the refund was canceled. It was a system error. But nobody called or let us know by email or text for that so I've got major returns and charges.
I'm not totally unhappy with the people that I found, the refrigerator guy, the furnace guy and the second furnace guy, and the second washer. They replaced my washer so they stood behind that. I would feel a lot better if AHS would have better quality contractors in their pool to send out to people because I don’t mind paying to have anything fixed.

I put some peas in our microwave, turned it on and the whole thing turned off. We tried unplugging it and plugging it back to make sure it didn't blow a breaker but it was just completely dead. I submitted a claim online to AHS and in three days, somebody came out. The tech who came initially trie to replace something but that didn't work. So, he had to come back. We were without a microwave for 10 days. He replaced the transformer and a couple of other things when he returned. It seems to be working now.
We also filed a garage door claim right around the same time as the keypad to get in from the wall had stopped working. That claim had a much quicker turnaround. We submitted it on a Saturday night or a Sunday morning and AHS's contractor came on Monday. With AHS, there aren't a lot of technicians for anything. If something breaks, it's 10 to15 days before it gets fixed. In the summer, we were without air conditioning for two weeks.

I'm still waiting for Live Green to come back and do one other thing. I was leaving for work one morning and I discovered there was water coming out of my garage. It was raining outside. There was a leak in my water set-off room. That was the main thing that I wanted them to come out here for, which they fixed. When I submitted this particular claim, I called AHS and spoke to a person. I was shocked that the contractors came out here that quick. There have been times where it has taken a very long time like 30 plus days to get something fixed.

My wife calls American Home Shield to file claims, and our experience with their contractors has been very positive. They do a good job of vetting the local technicians. However, I've also experienced it once or twice where the hold time is long because they get a high number of call volume. We've been with them for five plus years since we have been in Las Vegas. We also had them in Texas for at least four years.

1/2/20 - washer not working. AHS sent Superior Appliance to repair. Determined control board - ordered. Returned and installed. Tech left. Washer still not working. Tech returned and determined unfixable and condemned. Three visits. 2/10/20 - AHS sent Sears to diagnose. Tech stated interface was replaced and control board was not replaced. Determined control board at fault but part no longer made by manufacturer. AHS requested tech to have control board re-built. Tech removed board.
March 3, 2020, Sears Tech arrived but did not have control board. Called AHS - promised to return call - no return call to date. Called Sears conflict resolution - Control Board Part WPW10249237 is in Chicago at Core Centric Solutions but no estimate of repair or return to me. I called Sears again to request them to contact Core Centric to request part be repaired/returned this week. I was put on hold and a new person picked up and I had to explain a second time. Again I was put on hold and a third person picked up. March 3, 2020 - two months without washer repair, how long does a customer have to wait? If the first repair company condemned washer, why is it not replaced?

We were assigned Astro Appliance for our Viking oven repair. Repairman came out, who was difficult to understand. He told us part would need to be ordered. Called this morning as the part was approved by American Home Shield. I called Astro Appliance and spoke to Crystal to inquire when part would be delivered. She told me she wasn’t sure, hopefully by weekend. I asked could she please check with the parts department. She placed me on hold 15 minutes. Didn't check back with me.
When she finally came back on the line, she said she was unable to reach the parts department. I told her that it would have been nice if she would have picked up while I was on hold to let me know, that it was unprofessional to keep a customer on hold and not checking. She hung up on me. I pulled up the reviews on this company and customers gave this company 1 Star. American Home Shield should not do business with companies that do not have great customer service and repairs. I am very disappointed with this experience and waiting for AHS to call me back as hopefully they will be more successful in finding out when the part will be delivered and where it was ordered from. This should be standard to communicate with customers on updates when a repair is not complete.

So I had a loose kitchen faucet last year and called AHS who sent someone out to tighten it up, I personally thought it was still a little loose which would eventually prove to be true but was told by the repairman it was fine. Several weeks ago the faucet came loose and is only being held by the supply lines so you basically have to hold the base with one hand while using.
I called in another service request and the repairman came out and said the base was stripped out but AHS denied the claim saying that the work had improperly done, when I called AHS who never reached out to me to inform me of the decision I explained to them that the work had been performed by one of their repairmen, their solution was to send another repairman from a different company to verify and once again the claim had been denied now due to high water pressure even though no other faucet or anything is experiencing and issues. The bottom line is AHS is only interested in taking your money and they DO NOT care about you!

I have had this service for quite a few years now and when I have to use their service it irks me very bad! They are fast to take my money but when you have to use their service it’s on their time! I recently had my dryer worked on and my washer went out just before that, they came out, made a repair and when we got the washer fixed my dryer was making a very loud disturbing noise, when I called them back for a recall it was just outside of the 30 days and it was for the same issue they just fixed and they made me pay another service charge which is BS if you ask me! I could understand if it was another issue but it wasn’t. I would not recommend this company to anyone let alone try and call these people if you have an issue, they keep you on hold and just hang up on you anyways! Be careful when choosing a warranty. I would definitely shop around before you choose this horrible company!!!

I had a stoppage in my sink and called AHS to fix it. They contracted a plumber to come out, but that plumber never showed. AHS set up a second contractor and they arrived for the appointment. The plumber didn't have the tools to do the job so they had to schedule another appointment. When they came back they were unable to clear the drain line so they said that the line must be broken. They gave AHS the options to fix it with the cheapest one being to jackhammer into the foundation and repair the "broken pipe" or "slab leak". I called customer service and disagreed that the pipe was broken. But customer service didn't have another option for me besides have the plumber try the repair for thousands of dollars. Decided I needed a second opinion and got a different plumber.
They came out and were able to show that the line was not broken and were able to clear the blocked drain line. I called AHS and the customer service person said they would try and reimburse me for the work done. After several back and forth emails with the proof of repair department they denied my request because the plumber I used was not in their network. Even though the AHS plumber would have needlessly damaged my home and wasted my money and AHS's and the work I had done by the other plumber was cheaper than the amount AHS would have paid. AHS didn't even offer to make things right for me, their loyal and patient customer. I know that AHS has to be cheap to make a profit but this is too much. Thankfully I didn't let them damage my foundation looking for a non existent slab leak. I can only hope that this helps another person to not have the same problem I did.

I am having really very bad experience with AHS for issue pertaining to My Refrigerator. My refrigerator has broken for more than 45 days now and still AHS is not able fix it or address it. Technicians from different contractors have made 6 visits until now and still the issue is not solved. Also there is no way to reach out to senior person or point of escalation within AHS to express the pain and grievance that could help escalate the issue and get early resolution. The customer support associates are also very rude at times and are not willing to help with reaching out to senior person or provide clarity on why the issue is not getting addressed even after 45 days.
For a family person like me having 2 kids, it's really tough to manage without refrigerator for few days and I had to go through this pain for almost 2 months now. I hope American Home Shield reads this review and take some action to provide early resolution. I am giving 1 Star for AHS because that's the minimum rating I can give. WAKE UP AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!!!!

We had a sink that was stopped up, which we had tried to open up ourselves according to AHS's little video, but it didn't work. Then we have a kitchen faucet that was completely loose. We tried to tighten it and we were not successful. The contractor came and he left, and it was still a little loose, but not as loose as it was before. When my credit card was compromised and I changed my mode of payment on the website, it accepted the change but after I did that, I found a message that I was delinquent. Otherwise, the website was fine.

Our inverter went out and we submitted the claim to American Home Shield on a Saturday morning. We have a specific AC unit and the first tech who came out the following Tuesday was not able to do anything. Then, AHS put in a different claim and we got the Subcool Air and Heat who came out the very next day. We put the AC all the way down to 69 and it came on. It felt like it was cooled down so, I believe it's working but due to the cool weather, we haven't had to utilize it yet. Everything worked out great with AHS and I was very happy with everything.

Submitting claims to AHS has been really easy over the years I've been with them. I just call, let them know what the problem is and AHS will send somebody out and take care of me. With my recent claim for my fan, their contractor, Myers Comfort Specialists of Montgomery, wasn't overbooked which was very good. Their tech Drew did a very good job. He assessed the problem, told me what was going on and fixed it. According to him, the fan had got damaged and it stopped. He found a snake that wrapped around the fan and that kinda stressed it out.

AHS's policy has been good value for money over the year I've been with them Submitting claims is very simple. I call AHS on the phone and they bill me $80 to make an appointment. I don't have to deal with the repairmen at all. They set the time, come in and take care of everything. It works out really well for me. Recently, I had Dale’s Appliance Repair out and the tech took care of the minor problem that I had. Since then though, my appliance has stopped working again. Still, he was very good.

I needed a rekeying, and I called American Home Shield and gave them my reference contract number. They sent out a tech and things went perfectly. He was professional and good. There were a total of eight keys and they had two different keys for each of those, so they were different keys. My expectation was that he would simply make a change to those. But what he did was to give me one copy that would operate all of the keys. That was the only thing that was different and I don't know if that’s good or bad. But I've been using it and there are no issues.

My recent claim with AHS was for our washer and dryer and refrigerator. The dryer wouldn't come on at all and the washer would stop before it finished the cycle. I went online and filed a claim. The website has improved since the last time I used it. Then, I received an email telling me that my claim had been received and another with who the contractor was and cell number. And they called me and scheduled the time to come out. The guy from Morgan Henry was very professional. He was timely, friendly, and thorough. The refrigerator has been doing good since and there's a claim to replace the washer and the dryer.

The person we purchased our home from bought a warranty from American Home Shield and we've had it since August. When our water heater went out almost a couple of months after we bought the house, it took a couple of weeks which was longer than I would’ve liked to get it fixed. I wasn’t really happy about that but this last go-around was much smoother. They kind of expedited it because it was the second time I’ve had problems with the water heater. Someone from BB Lewis Plumbing came out, took a look at it and figured out the problem in five minutes. He then came back out and fixed the issue. There’s still one thing that he has to come back out for and fix. It's like a circulating pump and he’ll get to that probably this week or next week. But I have hot water in the interim so it's fine. He was good. He was both professional and efficient.

We had a plumbing issue and Faucet Brothers came in and they fixed the problem unlike the first company that American Home Shield sent out that did nothing. The toilet kept backing up seven times a week in the one main bathroom, and we thought maybe there was a blockage. Faucet Brothers snaked it. They tried putting a camera and all that stuff and they said, “It looks like your toilet is the original toilet from 20 years ago.” It’s the actual toilet that was causing the block up. So, they replaced the toilet and we haven’t had one block up since.
The guy from the other company was a moron. He came in, got up my roof, and didn’t know where the hole was outside the building for them to snake the main plumbing. Even though it was the toilet that was backing up, he refused to come in the house to even look at the toilet. He said, “It’s all in your plumbing, in your pipe. It’s not your toilet.” And he told me that they would have to rip up all the cement on my driveway in order to fix a little pipe that had a little centimeter lip over the piping, and that that was the problem. Faucet Brothers said, “No, it’s not.” A new toilet would cost about $200, and to rip up my whole driveway would've cost thousands.
American Home Shield should take the first plumber off their list of plumbers. I was being charged a fee for them coming out and doing nothing, and I was trying to figure out why it wasn’t being fixed. I called AHS and the lady who I spoke to said, “You know, I’m gonna send you out a different plumber without any charge because something sounds wrong with that first plumber.” She pulled up their name and she said that she was gonna give them a call because they said on their report back to AHS that the job was completed, and it wasn’t. AHS didn’t charge me the $75 fee for the second plumber to come out.

My plumbing claim went very well. The day that I called, AHS had the company call me and we set up the appointment. The contractor was on time and had to wait a few minutes for me. But he said that he knew people got off of work at 4 o’clock so he would have waited until I came, which I appreciated. He fixed the leak, tested it and it worked. Then he tagged the lines for me so that I would know which lever to use in the future. He was very knowledgeable and told me the problem with the waterline. He also made some suggestions so that I wouldn't have a problem with it in the future. Then, he also fixed a toilet. Someone from the same company came out to fix it before, but when you flushed it, it was delayed. But everything is working well now.

The guy from Precise Conditions was great. The outside fan motor of our heater went out. And then the second time, it was the defrost control board on it, stuck in defrost. So, instead of heating, when we came home from church, our house is like 60 degrees. It was calling for heat but it was cooling. They've done exceptionally well in repairing my heater. I'm in appliance service so compared to what we do and the way they did, they were excellent. He didn't have the part so instead of ordering it and coming back days later, he went, got it, and came back and repaired it, so I was just blown away with that. The first time the heater went out on Saturday then he came first thing Monday morning. And then this last time it went out on Sunday and he came first thing Monday morning so it couldn't get better than that.

Attwoods Appliances was sent by American Home Shield for a stove issue. It would not keep a temperature. It would go from 250 up to 400 when you had it set at 325. It was also so hot on the top that it melted a couple salt and pepper shakers on it. And then also the timer buzzer would not shut off, and none of those things worked up on the back. It kinda had a lot of issues. I called American Home Shield and talked to a very nice gentleman that I could absolutely understand, which was so lovely. He put a claim in for me and it was taken care of very easily.
We were told to expect our range within seven business days, and then Attwood called us to set up an appointment. We were supposed to let them know when the range was delivered and then we were supposed to set up an appointment. That all went very smoothly. Attwood was very good. I would recommend them for anybody. The tech knew what he was doing. He was very professional. He came in, got the work done, and showed me how to use it. He was very helpful.
We also had a claim for our refrigerator, and the experience was not so great though. I made nine calls to American Home Shield. If it was for that, I would never recommend Home Shield to anybody. It was horrible. The nine calls that I made were not five-minute calls neither. They kinda redeemed themselves now when our stove went out.
When they called me to re-up our contract, and I was gonna go with another company because that couple people in our community here had recommended this other company, and the gentleman told me that he could do my first service fee as a waiver if we would stay with them. So, I decided that I would and the whole big issue was that the first service fee was supposed to be waived. Finally, they honored that after nine calls. We were without a refrigerator for three weeks. It was a nightmare. They kept saying that they would take care of it, and then I would call a few days later and go over the whole thing with the next person again and, “Oh, yes. They would take care of it.”
I asked to talk to a supervisor and they said she was not available but she would call me back. I had to wait a couple more days and never got a call back. It was so awful, and you really cannot understand what they’re saying. It’s very frustrating. I was smart enough to just type it for a live chat and that was who finally got things figured out for me. It was much easier to communicate there because at least you can understand what they’re saying when they’re typing it.

AHS sent Sears to check the dishwasher and dryer. They cleaned out something in the dishwasher and put some parts on the dryer. They also checked the microwave and said it wasn’t repairable, so American Shield has gotten me another one. AHS could get somebody out here quick to install my microwave. They said the microwave was supposed to come in on the 17th, but the microwave came on the 13th. And I did call them, but it was such a wait that I hung up. They said that it could take, sometimes, 14 days after you get your appliance before somebody contacts you, so I figured I'll wait a couple more days, and if nobody contacts me, I’ll call them. Because when I did call the people that they gave me, they hadn't received the order yet and I’m not sure if that was because I got my microwave earlier than anticipated.

My daughter in Texas has had American Home Shield for a number of years and she likes them. I had Choice Home Warranty at first, and after talking with some other people that had American Home Shield, I went with them. I have no problems with how American Home Shield had it set up as far as contacting them and getting the request put in. It's easy. The representatives that handled my situation were very professional. Being an ex-military man, we tried to be as clear, concise and professional as possible. That is definitely appreciated on my part.
The only thing that I did not like about the whole process was that the unit cost me quite a bit to have it replaced and go with the 410A system. I went with the Goodman unit, but the unit was defective. The core had developed leaks in it. It wasn’t an old system. It was less 2 two years old, and we're stuck with a very expensive cost as far as putting the Freon in that. There should be a way to recoup a good portion of that cost back to the client when it's something that’s out of his control.
Other than that, as far as their professionalism, I would recommend them to anybody. The gentleman handled the situation very professionally. You can tell that he has been in the business for a little bit. He was very experienced. It was just a little bit timely as far as not responding as quickly as possible, but I can understand that with everybody having issues and problems with their unit, and it's only gonna get worse as it warms up.

For my latest claim for a washing machine that I submitted to AHS, when the tech from Sears came out, he said that my machine couldn't be fixed. AHS gave me some models to pick from online. Based on the picture I saw, the one I picked out had a pedestal on it. However, when I got it, there was no pedestal. The washer and I dryer I had previously had a pedestal. Other than this issue, I've been happy with the results of my claim. We've been with AHS for three or four years now and they have done a great job for us. I'm happy that I have their warranty.

I submitted a claim to AHS because I didn't have hot water in my kitchen sink. The technician that came out was excellent. However, it wasn't something that he could deal with. I ended up having a water leak and then my hot water heater was failing. Maybe I need to call back and see if they’ll come out. We've been with AHS since the end of December and I like that I can just call them.

I did my claim over the phone and I had to go over every single thing that needed worked on, which was fine. When I was adding the oven, the rep asked me where it was located and I told her it was in the kitchen. I then added the dishwasher and she also asked where it was location and I told her it was in the kitchen too. Each thing took about three minutes for her to tell me that she would go over my plan and see if it was something that was covered. So I was literally on the phone for 45 minutes. It was a long process over the phone. Also, we were under the impression that we could have multiple things done and covered, but it wasn't. So the plumbing issue was a $75 visit and then my appliance stuff that wasn't working right was another 75. We ended up canceling all the appliance stuff because it was adding up to where it was expensive to come out.
When the plumber came out, he explained to me our toilets are really, really old and that it looked like the homeowners put parts in that didn't match what was supposed to be in there. He also said that American Home Shield would never give me a credit to go get a new appliance or a new toilet. He added that they just try to fix it the best they can. So it was a little bit frustrating. But the plumber was great. He ended up fixing more to make sure that it was gonna be working smoothly. When we had a couple of cracks in our pool that we didn't know, I called American Home Shield and it was something that isn't covered as well. So it was frustrating. The range of what is covered was hard for us too. So we were coming out of pocket with a whole bunch of extra money that we weren't anticipating right away.

I had two visits from CalTek Appliance. There was one on the refrigerator icemaker, and another one was on the garbage disposal. I was very pleased. They were very timely, very professional, very courteous, and I even recommended them to my neighbors. The claims process with American Home Shield was excellent. You go online, and the process is very user-friendly. It was very timely. The customer service was excellent, too. When I placed the order for service, someone within 24 hours responded. And within 24 hours, they set up an appointment to come out. So, it's very fast.
This is the second year that I’ve had AHS, and as a result of using them, we’ve saved a lot of money. I thought I would have to replace our refrigerator, which is six hundred or more dollars to replace it. By utilizing their service, and spending the annual amount, I saved myself from having to replace a refrigerator or go and buy a new garbage disposal. The service allowed it to be replaced. It saved me time and money. I highly recommend them, and I plan to continue to recommend their service to others as well.

What I call the capacitor of my system was going out and it was causing the motor to heat up some. It overheated and started smoking. The contractor replaced that and everything was functioning fine. He explained what was going on with the heating, how it was functioning and what I needed to do. He also gave some recommendations and everything went very well. Everything was wonderful, very expedient and it was better than what I thought it was gonna be.
I like that when I make a claim to American Home Shield, I'm kept in the loop every step of the way such as when someone is coming out and who's coming out. It's very convenient. I may not know the price of what the service might cost but I know when I pay my $75 that something's gonna be done. I'm not gonna come out of pocket thousand of dollars. But I noticed that the premium that I'm paying has increased. I didn't notice when the increase was so, I don't know if AHS has sent me anything to tell me that it was gonna be increased this year. Other than that, I like AHS. I tell my family about it and I suggest it to anybody who's purchasing a home.

We bought a new house and we got a home warranty with American Home Shield. We kept it because we’ve had some issues and they fixed them. It was not always efficiently and productively, but they fixed them. We've been with them for two years and it's been an up and down experience. It took them nine months to fix my refrigerator. We had nine different service people out. I went without a fridge for three months in the nine-month period. I wasn’t very happy with them at that time.
Everybody they sent out tried to fix something different. They would fix it for a couple of weeks then they would have to wait for approval for a new part. It was bad. Finally, American Home Shield replaced the fridge. I got to a supervisor and said I was done. Nobody could fix it so they should just replace it. It was definitely not pleasant. But the home warranty fixed other things like when we had a microwave issue. A contractor came right out and got it fixed. Another was with our heater that wouldn’t turn on. The upstairs heater works but not the downstairs one. A/C Rescue was sent out and they did an incredible job. They had us in the next day, showed up on time, and got everything fixed in less than 20 minutes. The tech was very personable and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with this. By far, this was the best experience we’ve had with American Home Shield. They did a great job.

Chesapeake came out and they did the refrigerator and the dryer. This is their second time coming out to our house. But the guy that always comes out is always in a hurry. He opens the refrigerator and looks, and we tell him what's happening and that it's not cooling. This is the second time that it wasn’t cooling. So, he said that he had to order a part. As far as when parts have to be ordered, I don't like that it’s as if we have to wait until it gets to American Home Shield, then American Home Shield has to contact the contractors. To be without a refrigerator for a good two weeks is a little crazy because you have to wait until the part is ordered, and then, they have to schedule to come back out.
After the guy looked at the refrigerator, he went upstairs to the washer. He just said that the vent was clogged. We told him it wasn't clogged. And he said, “Well, I have the same washer and it always happens.” But when he left after he cleaned it, it was still leaking. I let my husband take care of it. But I would have told the guy, “Okay, well, let’s turn it on and let’s see if it’s gonna leak again while you're here.” After he left, I asked what he said. My husband said that the guy said that it was just the drain clog.” I said, “No because just like the lint in the dryer, I clean it out every time. Just like the washer, the front load, I clean out that little ring around where you close the door for sealing and all that near the drain, I cleaned that too. But it’s still leaking.”
So, when the guy called to say the part came in, my husband told them the washer was still leaking. And when the guy came over to put the part in for the refrigerator, he went upstairs. He said he needed somebody else to help him because it was a stackable. So, they're gonna have to take that down and open up the washer.
We've had American Home Shield for over 20 years. Every now and then, we get a bad contractor. But overall, the contractors are good. I’ve tried other people on another place, and the contractors they sent out do not compare to American Home Shield. I love American Home Shield, and if I had to choose, it would always be them.

The contractor came out when he needed to examine my appliance. Then he needed to order some parts and we had to wait for it. It came in on a Saturday and he came the next Tuesday. He worked around my schedule of when I could get off work and meet him at the house, which was convenient for me. He showed up, took the appliance apart, put it back together, and set it up. And now, it’s working just fine.

This is my second contract with American Home Shield. I prefer to call when filing claims ‘cause I'm trying to figure out how long it's gonna be. The first time, I had a claim with my refrigerator and it was a nightmare. The technicians that they hired lied. It was weird. It took forever and a day to fix it. But when I broke a spring door, the guy from Cactus Garage Doors came out and looked at it. He had a slight problem because of a shelf that was in the way of the spring so he just put the spring on the other side. He knew what he had to do to make things work. He fixed it and was gone in 20 minutes. It was amazing. This garage door thing is a good company. They seem like they know what they were doing.
I hope AHS somehow evaluates the ones they send out. I had an issue with the hot water where the guy reported back to American Shield that he couldn’t get parts and that my hot water leaked. When I called American Home Shield, I told them that the only thing between the bottom of my hot water heater and the floor was dust and it was not leaking. Whatever the technician told them was not the truth. AHS should not use that guy if they would tell incorrect information. They need somebody that they can rely on. On the other hand, if that same tech tells me something’s wrong and I need to replace this valve, if I don’t have the experience of what I think is wrong, I will just go ahead and pay it and American Home Shield’s the one that’s gonna bite the bullet and spend their money.
But as it turned out, I found parts for that hot water heater and it wasn’t hard. I looked at the sticker on the hot water heater and figured out that company was still in business, only they switched names. If I can do it quickly and this guy is in the business doing it, something’s wrong. American Home Shield needs to make sure they’re sending out good people because they’re the ones who will lose.

I had two claims but I'm in a remote area so it took a little while to get the contractors to come out. I kinda knew that would happen and I'm satisfied with the whole program of American Home Shield. A day was established that the contractors would come and then a four-hour window that they would appear. They both met that window so it went fine. Both contractors were efficient and did their job. They seemed to know my issue right away and were very professional. One of them has to come back only because they had to order parts for an oven. The oven is still not working until the new parts come in but the waste line is still running fine and there has been no recurrence.
It has been my practice to have a warranty and I'm glad I got one. The inspector who inspected the house prior to us moving in didn't do a very good job because both items that I had to have fixed were problems before I bought the house but he didn't identify them. Those items would certainly be something that the inspector would have known. So, I had to pay the deductible and I made two different claims so it was about $150. But I'm fine with it. I would've spent more than that if I had to have somebody come out and do it so the warranty was a smart choice for me.

Accord Appliance fixed my dishwasher. The service guy was really nice and was on time. They changed the time for me. I couldn't get here until 4:00 when they did the final repair, and they accommodated me. So, they were awesome. My pool pump and my pool heater had broken down. So, I called American Home Shield and then Young's Outdoor Solutions came and they fixed it. The technicians were pretty knowledgeable and very friendly, and they could understand the problem and they could help me out. They were good and very professional. Even the booster pump was leaking and the tech said he’ll just come and help us out to fix it. That wasn’t in the claim, but he said he’ll come and fix it out someday if ever they get a chance. But other than that, everything is working fine. Some of my friends had used American Home Shield and they recommended it to be a good brand. So, I used it. This was the first time I used AHS and it was good.

I had American Home Shield for years in North Carolina and it worked out fine. When I came up here and got this place in 2015, I used the home warranty again. I really like the company although at first, I was not too sure about your company for things going on up here. They sent out Majestic Custom Heat & Air Conditioning for a heating claim I had and it went very well. I told the lady who answered my call that it was going way below zero here tonight and I really needed somebody as soon as possible. She said that she would get right on it and she called me back. She said that she wasn't able to get anyone that day because it was late by the time I called her. But she told me who was gonna come out the next day. She was very good and I appreciated her help.
I liked the tech who came. He was very professional and I talked with him to see about the leak and everything. He tested everything and said there was no leak. I think what happened was on the day that my gas company came out the wind blew and the vents closed somewhat. It left a gas smell down there. When it was first tested and it tested kind of high. But afterward, the guy from the gas company couldn't get the reading again. He shut everything off though. The thing that I appreciated about the gentleman from Majestic that came was he came right away. That took me out of that cold because it was very cold here. He went outside and he tested out there. He turned my gas back on and everything has been going fine thus far.
This particular claim was very good and I was very happy with American Home Shield. The thing, however, is you think something is covered but then you find out that it's not simply because of where things are placed. I either didn't understand the contract or I didn't know really what was covered and what was not. Maybe it was my lack of reading or lack of understanding that things would be covered so I had to pay out of pocket on things like water spigots and stuff outside. I'm kind of apprehensive right now about what the warranty covers and what they don't.
The one year that I put the water softener on, they didn't tell me that it was gonna be a short-term thing. The next year, it was taken off the list and when I asked why it was because my coverage had gone up for it. They said they no longer cover the water softener. Had I known that they were gonna do it that fast, I would've had them at least come out and check the water softener to make sure that it was okay. I then had to call someone else to come out and do the checking on that. Maybe they did try and let me know that they were dropping the coverage on the water softener but I didn't get the memo.

ASH sent out Guinco Service for the microwave, the stove, and the dishwasher. They did nothing to the microwave. They repaired the dishwasher's door so it wouldn’t leak anymore. They repaired a knob and something inside the stove. But they had no regard for the plastic that was melted on top of the stove so it was just something we had to deal with. Having to fight AHS to prove how damaged something is if I need the whole item replaced is kind of a pain in the ass. But I like that they are fast and efficient

I submitted a claim to have someone work on our furnace and then Redeemed contacted me almost immediately by phone and made an arrangement for them to come out. They came out the very next day. We’ve had them before. They were very professional and very good. We’ve had pretty good success so far with Home Shield. We’ve had them for four years. The furnace and the AC unit we got in this house when we bought it were old, but they keep bringing them back to life. So it’s been good.

In the 15 years that I've been with AHS, sometimes the time to get things fixed is long. We had something go wrong with our furnace a while back and we had to stay in a hotel because the incident happened over a weekend. There's no real emergency service with AHS. More recently, I submitted a claim to AHS for a washing machine that was shimmying more than normal. Their contractor, Beyer Appliance Service, came to do service. The techs were excellent and they told me that the spider at the back of the machine was broken. They took the machine and returned it a week and a half later on a Monday. I was unhappy with being without a washing machine that long but what they did was fine.

I’ve had a really good experience with American Home Shield. They always come and fix the issue, and if they can’t fix it the first time, they come back. I like the fact that the problem is always covered. Plus they give you 90 days or something like that and if I have a related issue, they always fix it. My claim with Texas Pool Guy was wonderful. They were very professional and they fixed the problem. I was having an issue with the pump because it wasn’t circulating and I called in. Filing the claim was pretty easy. When I have claims, I like to call in and speak to an actual person. For that pool claim, I did the machine but I also called about the electrician that same day and that time, I got a person.

I've been with American Home Shield for about 10 years now. They're always prompt and they make sure the job’s done. I keep them so I don’t have to actually go through and look for a contractor to do the work. I know that they normally have dependable references to get the job done. The contractors have been wonderful and I haven't had any issues at all. A&S Plumbing came out recently and the guy was good in explaining what the issue was with my shower and was very fast in fixing it.

Our latest claim with AHS went really well. The contractors were really good. They came out right away and fixed the dryer. It was checking the vent system. They didn’t do anything with the dryer, but they did let me know what needed to be done. And then I hired somebody to do it privately and it’s fixed.

I've been with American Home Shield for five years and there are many reasons why I like them. I like the dependability and the ease in getting services from them. If there is a problem, I don’t have to jump through hoops to get it fixed. It’s a phone call – one and done. In fact, I have recommended American Home Shield and this is why.
My husband was an electrician but he passed away two years ago and prior to that, his health was failing rapidly. I had no one to do things. When my husband was in good health, he would have done this and that. The security of the warranty service now is this. For the money I spend each month on the premiums of it, I have gotten more in service from American Home Shield than what I have paid, even with my service fee, as opposed to had I called a repairman to do it. I just don’t feel I can do without the warranty. This is what I tell my friends, especially those that are in the same situation as I am who has no one else to call except the local repairman.
Initially, I purchased American Home Shield because it came as part of a package deal to my son. It so happened that he needed services and when he called them, he got services from them. Had my son not called that day, at that time though, the policy would have expired the following day. But as it said in that commercial I was seeing on TV, the technicians were there the next day. This was like night and it was in the middle of the summer. It was hotter than Hades.
The technicians haven’t always been with me the next day and most of the time, they have to come and assess. But I understand that, and American Home Shield did do something for me, for which I will be eternally grateful. It was two days before Christmas and my oven died. I called and the young lady I had was foreign. It was somewhat difficult to hear and understand her. I had to keep asking her to repeat what she said and she had to keep repeating it for me to hear it and understand it. Call centers now basically are not staffed by fluent American English speakers which would be the only negative but I wouldn’t even deem it negative because when she gave me a time after Christmas and I told her I needed the oven, she called around and the techs came out here on Christmas eve morning and fixed my oven.
I wouldn’t deem it all that either though, because some times are worse than others. It’s like they hear me but they can't put it together. They're not understanding what I'm saying and that adds to my issue on speaking with someone who doesn't speak what I'm accustomed to hearing all my life, which is ideal. On a different note, I had Laha’s Appliance Repair come out and they are awesome. They are dependable, very knowledgeable and very professional. When they were first recommended, I didn’t have American Home Shield then and I was just trying to find a local electrician who was near me to come out. But I like to read reviews and theirs wasn’t that good. However, I had no choice when I called in a request for service and they were sent out. But now, if it’s an electrical or appliance issue, it would be my preference not to have anyone but them.

AHS's website was very convenient and I really liked it. After I submitted my claim, I was told somebody would contact me and also gave me the name of the company if I wanted to contact them. It worked out perfectly for me. The next morning, I got a call from the contractor. He said that he could come over within 15 minutes. He was over at our house before 10 o'clock in the morning, which was very nice. He was pleasant, courteous and professional. He was a little quiet at first, but I’m a pretty talkative person and he warmed up to me. A control board went out and he replaced it. Now, everything’s working great. AHS is a great home warranty. It’s a little more expensive than the one I had before, but they do the job so I’m happy.

AHS's website was efficient. We had light sockets that were not functioning and we were told to expect the contractor in a week or two. All County was a very good company. That particular time, AHS was perfect. However, we haven't had responses to two issues that we've written about and asked them for a reply about.
When you have an issue, they indicate to write to a certain address. There is absolutely no response. There is also no way to publicly submit a problem online. They just say to call a certain number. When I called the number, somebody talked and said they would submit the issue but there was no response. They just cut you off if there's an issue and you have a claim. If it's a positive repair, then they say, "You've been served, rate us and great." If it's negative, they just make it disappear and it's like it never existed. Overall, our experience with them has been very inconsistent.

I called a month ago and the guy, Larry, was coming but I had to cancel because we had to go out of town. I said that I was gonna let him know when. Submitting claims online is more convenient and faster. Last year, there were some fits and starts, but once I finally got my bearings on how to utilize and navigate the whole system, things got better. And this year has been great My most recent experience with AHS has been outstanding. When I let the dogs in and I the door closed, it didn't latch. During the night, the wind held and blew my door open. When I came downstairs the next morning and I went to my thermostat in the hall, it was just blank. It was kind of a strange coincidence, but that had happened before. The problem was a fuse on the heat pump that runs downstairs. The contractor got here very quickly. He was very professional and nice. He went right to work and went under the house. He found that sure enough, it was a fuse and fixed it. And my heat came back on.

We started having AHS as our warranty again about four months ago. I had them before in the past and got back with them because they seem to take care of everything without having multiple problems. So far, we’re pretty good. We’re waiting to find out what they’re gonna do with the fridge in the garage. They said they’re not gonna fix it because it’s too old. I don’t know what they’re actually gonna do with that besides not fixing it. But other than that the reps of AHS have been nice and cordial. So far everything seems to be going great and they stand by what they say.

Recently, a portion of the lights in the main room was out, like in the bathroom and the vanity. One of the electrical outlets was out, too. The Green 2 Crystal Clear Pools tech recognized what was wrong right away. He put in a seal that had been leaking. He did what was necessary and fixed the problem. He was a very nice young gentleman. The only bad experience I ever had with American Home Shield is a plumber. He was a wreck. He didn't fix anything and he ruined a couple things on his way out. He lied too. He’d say, “I’d be there at such and such time,” and then he didn't show up and it was a mess.
We just told American Home Shield, “Leave it alone. We’re done. Don’t send anybody else.” We took care of it ourselves. We got our own plumber. But then right after that, we had a freezer go out. The young man that they sent was wonderful. He was right on time and he did everything he needed to do exactly, and he cleaned up a little mess. It takes a little bit of time to get through to AHS, but you eventually can get there, and you always have the online if you can’t get through. They should have more people manning the phone, but other than that, we’ve been okay with American Home Shield so far.

When I purchased the home, the agent provided Home Shield as a warranty for one year. It was part of her services. And I liked them enough that I renewed it. It’s gonna be renewed this year too. I’ve had a couple of contractors come out. I had a tech come out for my stove repair. They reported it back to Home Shield that it was misused, but the stove was brand new and I just had a home inspection when I bought the house. Also, he didn't even take the stove apart and look at it. I called Home Shield back and I said I wanted another person to come out. They sent someone else out and the person was able to fix it right away and with no problem. A contractor also came out for the AC unit. I had to deal with weeks of not having the AC and I finally convinced Home Shield to have another contractor come out and everything was fixed. They're really quick in response.

American Home Shield is an excellent company and I’m very satisfied. They do what they say they're gonna do. A guy came in, repaired our dryer and put a new circuit board in. It has been running and we haven’t had any problems there. The issue I had was with the second call when the guy came out to do the sump pump. He wasn’t disrespectful, but I felt like he was not prepared. He said he had to do a modification for $80 since the pump he had wouldn't fit into the hole. I was at work and my son was there relaying the message. Now I understand that if the vendor had to do some modifications, I could be charged a fee. I didn’t know then, and shame on me I didn’t read all the way through.
Still, my thing is, why didn't the guy bring up a pump that would fit? If he didn’t have one on the truck, why didn’t he just go get one versus wanting to charge me a fee? The pumps only last so long. I’ve had two installed over the years and they went right in. I’m not a professional, but I know for a fact that if you can find one that fits out of Home Depot, then he needs to have one that fits. I was going to request American Home Shield send someone else out that will put a pump in, but the guy went ahead and waived the fee. Everything’s perfect since.

I called in my claim and the contractor was out within a few days. They got my dryer to work but couldn't get the washer to work because they had to order parts. But within a week and a half, everything was fixed and up running, so it was great. The tech was really nice. He was a great guy.

American Home Shield was great, professional, and wonderful. I’ve had one experience with them and it was very good. One thing I like is when they said they were gonna have the contractor be there and follow up to see if they had shown up, they did everything they said so I was very impressed with that. It’s a nice and pleasant surprise to find out somebody has their crap together. I had a guy by the name of Ron from Douglas Mechanical. He came out to give me an estimate on one of my HVAC systems. He did a lot of stuff without any expectation in return about buying anything and whatnot. He was schooling me on the proper way to maintain my HVAC system and what to do with my vents. He did that for 45 of his own time and not expecting anything. I spent almost $10,000 with a new system through him and it worked.

There has been miscommunication last year with AHS when I had problems with my air conditioning and I ended up buying one out-of-pocket. I wasn’t told anything initially. Then when I called in the report that I bought a new one, I was told that somebody was gonna try and give me some money back because I wasn’t given any real direction. And then that never happened. And I have a couple of claims that was from the plumbing, which was resolved by Matthew from Home Choice Services. And then I currently have a claim out with my microwave stopped heating and I can’t see anything on the display. And so, that company came out. And first, they ordered the part, but they couldn’t even test it. They can’t even get the microwave out to replace the part. And the microwave actually needs to be replaced. We'll see what happens.
Then I had called out for my pool last year. I have a caretaker system which in a pool, a caretaker system is like the pop-ups. So, the pop-ups popped up, sunk to the bottom and that was not even covered. That was fine. But when I told the pool person that I was having problems with the pump, that it was leaking and making horrific noise, he said, “All I would be able to do is just replace the part until the pump wasn’t working anymore.” I may renew this year with AHS, but I’m also investigating other home repair companies to see if it might be more cost-effective to go elsewhere.

I like the protection that I have with AHS and I have them for a little over a year now. But I’m not happy with their premiums because they upped it on the renewal. Recently, I had filed a claim with them where a tech from Total Appliance came out and looked through the refrigerator. He gave me advice but the problem needed was not covered under the policy. I wasn't happy with that, but I understood. It was something that occurred as a result of the environment, not as a result of any problem in my refrigerator. Apparently, I need a garage-ready refrigerator and I will probably end up getting one. Other than that, the tech was very efficient, knowledgeable and cooperative. He gave me good information and I was pleased. But it's been a week and a half now since he came out and I haven't heard from anybody.

We've had AHS for about 10 and a half years and their response time is quick. Usually, I have a service person calling me to set up an appointment within a day or so. I've had no problems with the service people. I've been doing my claims online lately since it's easier than calling in. When we first started, I had a wonderful experience with the customer service team. But the wait time, the personalities and the responses from people changed. The follow-through has gone down when I've had to talk to people. But it's been quite a bit since I've talked to somebody because everything is automated and you don't talk to a human anymore. So it's easier to just go online. Having the warranty definitely worth the money.

The tech came the very next day, which was pretty fast. He replaced a socket in my power box and now it’s working. He also replaced some of my fire alarms and now, it is no longer driving me crazy. He was very friendly and we discovered that he was a veteran so we have lots in common. When we bought the house in 2017, we took over from the old policyholder. At first, I was kinda disappointed because it takes forever, but every time I go online and request for repair, it was faster than calling in. So I don’t call in anymore. Also, I always check at the schedule of renewal, which is this week or next week, and I’m renewing it already.

It did take a little bit longer than I would've hoped to get the contractor scheduled, to get the parts, and to get him to come back and fix them. But I trust the guy and he's really knowledgeable and honest. It was worth the wait. I was patient for it because I wanted him and he's really pretty busy. So overall, my experience with that contractor is good.
My experience with AHS has been positive too. AHS has a good service and I'm happy with it, but there are a lot of negative comments out there on social media regarding not covering certain things. Had I been a brand-new customer that was looking into it, I might not have done it based on what I see online. Everybody expects that some things are not gonna be covered and that's okay. But it seems like there were some comments on social media that they just didn't have an attitude of care to make sure that the homeowner got what they needed.
I'm a single mom and I don't have a husband at home to fix my stuff. I rely on paying my money every month and knowing that if something breaks, AHS is gonna fix it. 90% of the time, I need that to be effective instead of it being 50-50 that they're not gonna cover a claim. That makes a difference to me and that would keep my business. What they don't cover is kind of important to me as well, like my garage not opening. I would be happier if they covered more of the things that I need. I've had really good customer service but sometimes their English is a little bit hard for me. I don't know where the call centers are but you kind of expect that with call centers. It's always 50-50 if you're gonna get a person that English is their first language and they're gonna understand what you're saying and you don't have to explain it multiple times.

Mr. Appliance was great to work with. I had quite a few appliance problems that they had to resolve, but they did extensive troubleshooting to identify the issues and were able to resolve all of them. Although that particular claim was successful, it’s not always that simple. To begin with, Mr. Appliance came out as a result of another appliance company that AHS had sent out. That other company did not seem interested in resolving all of the issues. I had to put in a call to AHS and the time that I had to spend on the phone resolving that was quite extensive. It had to be elevated up to a manager. And finally, I was able to get Mr. Appliance. Also, one other contractor AHS sent out was supposed to resolve an issue, but they never called us back. So I called AHS and said to remove that contractor from any lists of anybody that would ever come out to my home again. And they did.

I had a stoppage so the toilets would sometimes get clogged and then, it would slowly go down. We called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out. There was no urgency from AHS so I had to go to my clubhouse to use the bathrooms. It gets done when it gets done. When the plumbing company came out, the guy did an unclogging or a snake method. Everything went down so we thought it was fine. But then, the problem came back a couple of weeks later so we had to call them back and it took another week to get back here. They did the same thing and they didn’t do much more. Then, it happened again. So they came a third time and they did the same thing. I said that there’s gotta be something else going on here. So, they said that they were gonna have to come back and have an actual camera that could go down there and see what’s going on. So, I said okay. That made sense.
A day or two later, I got a text message from American Home Shield saying they were glad I called and they hope my experience was great. We were not done here so I called them and they said they closed the claim out. The contractor said that I must have a pipe that collapsed and AHS doesn’t cover that. So, they were done. I said that we don’t know that because there was no camera diagnosis. Somebody needs to go down there and see what’s going on. They can’t guess and also, nobody told me that the claim was closed. I called again and I asked if we could get somebody else that could come and look at it and get a camera down here. They said that would be a second opinion and it would be another $75 deductible, in case it’s not the same thing.
Whatever it is, we need to find out what’s going on. So, they sent the contractor today. They got here but they don’t have a camera. I specifically said that we need a camera over here because we need to find out what’s going on. The contractor said they didn’t know. So now, the contractor’s gonna call the extended warranty back and try to get the camera approved. I’m waiting for somebody to call me to tell me what the next step is. It’s not totally done because there’s still a problem. We’re still trying to figure out how this is gonna go. So, it’s not a great experience. It’s terrible.
I’ve been with American Home Shield since I bought the house, which has been close to four years. I’ve only called them three other times and every time, it’s an issue. The last time was an appliance and it took forever to get somebody over here. Finally, when they did, you have to kinda go back and forth on what was covered. I had to talk to the supervisor because whoever I was talking to didn’t have it straight. Finally, they covered it. It was something that should’ve been covered to begin with or should’ve been known that it was covered. So, it’s always challenging to get things handled. As soon as this plumbing thing is figured out, I'm gonna cancel immediately.
When I had the problem, I called the sales department to say that they told me it was covered. Even the sales department said that it is. They had to step in and help me to get the service department to understand that it is covered. So, even within their own organization, AHS doesn’t have it together. A lot of times, AHS is not worth it because there are so many things that your hands are tied. If it’s an urgent matter, they don’t care and you’re kinda limited to brands or specific things or what they will cover up to a certain amount. So, it’s limiting to where if you add up the premium of the home warranty over the amount of time, you end up at the same place. I only kept it because of plumbing and electrical, but I'm finding out that even big stuff like this won’t be covered. So, it’s not something that I recommend doing.

All American Plumbing had come to repair and replace the hot water heater. They came the next day after I filed a claim to American Home Shield. They came quickly. On some cases, AHS could do a better job of listening to the technicians about what needs to be done with the problem.

I like old, tried and true companies. American Home Shield was the first home warranty to come out for appliances and I like them. They are prompt. You call them about the problem and you get somebody out to correct it in no time. Recently, I made a heating claim and the man couldn’t get to me for a day. It was cold, so I had to leave home. When he finally got out here, it didn’t take him but a few minutes to assess the problem and correct it.

Our heat went out when it was 32 degrees outside. We called AHS on a Friday and Cool Factory contacted us immediately and came to our house the next day - on Saturday!! The problem was diagnosed and a new furnace was ordered and replaced in a matter of days. I would recommend Cool Factory in a heartbeat!!! Excellent service from both AHS and Cool Factory!

The first tech who came was absolutely useless. The flushing mechanism went out on both Johns in my apartment. He took a couple of pictures and left. When the second guy came out, he did the job in 20 minutes and was gone. It was terrific. After AHS got rid of the first contractor, everything was perfect and I was very pleased. I used to use a different company, but they went out of business. I picked up AHS to handle situations exactly like this.

My son-in-law told me that he used AHS and I decided to use them as well. So far, I've had some furnace problems and a hot water tank problem, which in the wintertime is pretty bad. When I called them, they've done well. Then they got somebody and got them right out here. My wife and I are both senior citizens and we can't go without heat too long. I was pleased with them. But when I had something wrong with my furnace, I thought the repair should've been covered but they said because it was an exhaust fan, it wasn't covered. It cost me $900 which was so unexpected, right at Christmas time.
I was also disappointed when my garage door broke and after the tech came out, I found out that the only thing the warranty covers on my garage door is the motor. My rails weren't and that service cost me another 700. So, I had two unexpected bills there that I thought I had coverage on, but I didn't. And I got the plus package. Other than that, I've been pleased with all of the contractors who've been out here. They told me about what time they would call and they did that.

We had a malfunctioning smoke detector and the local fire department told us to first have the wiring checked before we replaced the smoke detector. So we called American Home Shield and they sent a tech out to check it. We were told that someone would call us that day to set up a time to come out. The contractors were awesome. We had already bought two smoke detectors because we figured they were gonna have to be replaced anyway. The technician checked the wiring, both upstairs and downstairs, and then he installed both the smoke detectors and made sure that they were communicating with each other and that they were working. Since then, it has not been going off at 3 o'clock in the morning, so it's been working well. We were very satisfied.

The guy from AT Appliances has been here before. He worked on my dishwasher and put a lot of effort into it. He exactly rebuilt the whole dishwasher from scratch. This time, my claim on the dryer turned out well. It works now and I hope it lasts. He was gonna investigate the push-button to see if he could fix it but he never got back to me with that. I also asked American Home Shield to do my lights, but they don’t replace bulbs. I was charged $100 for that and I was hoping that money would be returned. But overall, my experience with American Home Shield was excellent. They are a little bit expensive but I appreciate it. It covers a lot of things. It's nice to be able to have insurance for my appliances and the things around my house.

I have three properties that they are covering. I spoke with them once when somebody slipped up to get a repair and I later found out that that was not how it works, and that I have to call them and they use their people instead of me using my people and being reimbursed for it. But I kind of understand them wanting to use contractors that they have screened and have agreements with.

Somebody told me years ago that AHS is the best insurance provider for day-to-day stuff. I've been with AHS for 5 years and have several accounts with them. They sent a tech from All Desert Appliance for a recent claim and he did a great job and was a nice guy.

I submitted a claim to AHS because the fan in the freezer was hitting the side of the little enclosure. It was going click, click, click. Submitting the claim was easy. They said that a person would come and he fixed it. He left. It was all good. And it’s not going click, click, click anymore.

I was having a garage sale and it was dark in my garage. Also, the door was making so much noise and it was waking up my neighbors. I needed that door fixed. American Home Shield got on it right away. The guy from JKH Door Service came out sooner than I thought and he was very efficient. He fixed two things that I had wrong with my garage door and helped me to determine what kind of lights I needed for my garage. Those were all very quickly done and he was very personable. Everything has been wonderful. I wouldn’t be without American Home Shield for anything.

I had Choice Warranty and Stanley and they’re a bunch of baloney. I also had American Home Shield a while back and I went back to them. I didn’t have any problems. I filed a claim for my washing machine over the phone and they sent out Applifix Heating and Appliance. I’ll use that gentleman anytime and I’ll recommend him. He’s the best. He knew exactly what was going on, he checked the whole thing before he left, and he said he wasn't gonna leave until I was happy. If I ever have any appliance service, something wrong with my other appliances, I want him back because that gentleman knows his stuff.

My son-in-law and daughter had been using American Home Shield and they've been happy with them so I got it since October. The claims have been so-so. They have been very good about getting somebody out but they just weren't able to fix the problem. Every other time, the guy ordered the part immediately and I got an email immediately that the part was ordered. I never have gotten a text or email that this part has even been ordered. So, right off the bat, I'm kinda thinking this isn't going the way it usually does.
This didn't really go through American Home Shield because it had to do with Express Appliance who handles the service deal. It wasn't the $100 payment for the guy to come out for all of that. It was still under the same thing that had to do with the ice maker. They finally got the thing fixed but when the guy put the freezer back together, the plastic door broke. I didn't see it 'til the next day and I’ve complained about that and I'm not feeling good about it. I don't think they are gonna fix that but I'm giving them a few more days. They've been very good about following through, getting people out here, and getting the parts and doing it.

We used Reliable Plumbing about a week and a half ago in reference to a leak, and they came out two days later after we made the request to American Home Shield. It wasn’t an emergency. I had called up in the evening and I made the request, but the following morning, I made a call to Reliable to make sure that they got the email from Home Shield. They said they did and I explained to them what the problem was. The service was very good. The lead plumber was very professional. He did have some problems trying to stop the leak after he had repaired it in reference to the soldering. For some reason, he couldn’t get it to stop, but he was able to do it.
Once he had found the leak, we discovered another leak further down the copper pipe. I kind of recommended to him, “Why not just put down one piece all the way down to the next to next elbow,” which he did. We had to cut out three more sections of the sheetrock to get down the other elbow. And once he did that, he put a flex pipe instead of a copper pipe, and he connected it, and after he connected it, there were no further leaks.
I've been protected with Home Shield for several years. I thought I'd just add a second insurance for my home because a lot of times, your regular home insurance won't cover the small things unless it's a really big issue. And usually, when I have something like this, my deductible is usually too high, but it wouldn’t cover some of the things that I've used Home Shield for. I've always had been very happy with the work done through Home Shield. They’ve always been very prompt in finding me a contractor, and certainly, I've never had any problems.

I submitted a claim online to AHS and the website was good. They did a good job with that. The claim was for the condenser outside on the heat pump which was not running. The window was from 4:00 to 6:00, and the contractor showed up around 6:00 and gave me a little bit of warning when they were on their way. Brent came from Sherwood and he looked around at a couple of things and researched the light that was flashing on the motherboard, and he told me to go inside and cycle the circuit breakers for the system outside, which I did. And then, the motherboard showed that it was working properly, and the fan came on.
They did real well. I ended up feeling like we treated the symptom and not the cause though. The cause of it was a high-pressure lockout, but when I reset the circuit breaker, everything was okay, but who knows how long that’s gonna last. But he did a good job. When he explained, he said that, “You can't troubleshoot something when the system is okay right now. Your motherboard is probably getting a little wonky, but other than that, that’s what we can do.” And I understand that. I'm a little disappointed, but not at the technician. I think there was some way to figure out what caused the problem in the first place. I've been with American Home Shield for about four years, and I like being able to request the services online because it's much faster than going through the phone where you have to wait. When I file a claim, I get a phone call within the next 24 hours, and it's usually 48 hours that they get somebody out here. We have no issues with the contractors that showed up. They're great. The guy from United Appliance who came was definitely thorough. He came in, explained everything he was doing, and kinda showed me a few things about the washer I didn't know. He was definitely one of the best contractors that I've had come out. AHS does a pretty good job. That's the reason why we go with them. They're kind of the more well-known company, and we really haven't had any issues with them. Their price point is pretty good and overall, we're happy with them.

We wanted a home warranty and AHS was the one with the best reviews. It’s been less than a year that we've been with them. My spouse called in a claim to them when there was a weird noise coming from our refrigerator. AHS sent out MMAB Appliance and they were fine. Our refrigerator has been good since and there have been no problems.

I had a claim with American Home Shield for my garbage disposal. It wasn't turning on. Mr. Rooter Plumbing came out and did a good job. I've had a lot of bad calls though with AHS. I have two houses and my house down in Kingsville, the air conditioner is still not fixed and I've been waiting for my tenants to have air conditioning down there. It's been about three weeks now. I got a bunch of out of pocket expenses, so I'm talking to the technician and trying to get them paid so they could do it but it just doesn't seem like I'm getting a schedule this week. Also, my gas line was a big problem last year and I was out of pocket over a lot of money. But as a homeowner with a couple houses, you think that you buy warranties for worry-free but it seems like they're big out of pocket expenses either way so I'm really at the point of probably buying new appliances for how much I'm spending on these repairs.

Everything went well with my recent claim to AHS regarding our heating. The contractors were available to me within a business day and they came out and they serviced the furnace. They let me know what were the issues and they fixed them. And then when I had a problem after the initial visit from them, they came back out and they fixed that problem, which was really some cardboard being stuck in between the floor. It was shaking. So, they came out and took care of the issue after the fact when I called back. I’ve also been treated well by American Home Shield and they get to the bottom of the issues that I have and take care of them. There’s no reason to go somewhere else.

With AHS, I don’t have to worry about something breaking. When the water heater was leaking, RDN Plumbing replaced it. But after they left, it was still leaking so they had to replace the thing that looked like a little propane tank. And now, it’s not leaking anymore. Moreover, the technicians were very nice. We moved here a year ago in February. The people I bought the house from paid for the first year and I renewed it on my own and increased the coverage. Then I got rid of another policy that I had bought.

I spoke with someone from AHS on the phone to have the furnace fixed and their rep was very good. Air Squad was here and then the furnace wasn’t fixed, so they came back. I was in Florida for the second time they came and my granddaughter dealt with them. She said that the technician was very polite and very professional. It's all good now since the repair. B & K Plumbing did a great job. My hot water heater wasn’t heating the same way. We were having problems with the water. B & K came out to take a look and see what was going on. They just turned up the temperature. The tech totally inspected it to make sure everything was working like it was supposed to be. And I suspect that what happened was our dial might have gotten bumped a little bit through some storage moving stuff around. The tech was great, very helpful, and kinda showed me how it all worked. AHS is reliable and the contractors have all been really professional. I had American Home Shield in South Florida and it was not a good experience. Here in Illinois, AHS and the folks that they have sent out have been really good.

Something broke into pieces inside the garbage disposal. I filed a claim with AHS and they sent out somebody from Home Choice Services. They were there two days after I called and the tech fixed it in less than an hour.

The toilet was working but it was leaking from the base. I called and went through the automated system to order the service from American Home Shield. It always takes a little bit of time because you have to wait for the prompt but it works because I'm usually driving and I have the Bluetooth on when I do it. The contractors solved the issue and I was pleased.

The contractors that AHS sent did an excellent job. They came out for the compressor of the refrigerator which was making too much noise. And then after that, they said they had to order a part or I could get another choice, to cash out. But somehow, they ordered the part, brought the compressor and fixed everything and it looks good now. There's no more problem. Everything's working okay now. It was also a great service from the American Home Shield.

AHS has been quick, prompt and transparent. With them, there are no gatches and no “Oh, that’s not in the contract.” Things are pretty black and white, and simple. When I have a claim, I submit it online and I’ve not had an issue so far. It’s been easy setting appointments and everything is done via text message and emails. Aside from that, all the contractors that have come out have been phenomenal. There had been issues on that side, but every contractor has fulfilled what they came out to do. I've had some people work on my fridge, on my dryer, and on my plumbing several times. And if the problem was not fixed the first time or if it was not fixed fully the first time, then it was a quick call back or a quick resubmission through American Home Shield. Then they came out and addressed what we didn’t see the first time. All the companies I’ve used have been very easy to communicate with, too

We're very happy with Home Shield. They seem to have a better plan and more to offer compared to other companies. Also, they have what we were looking for. Any time we've used them, they just took care of everything. It was a no-brainer for us. Then the contractors who have been coming out are very quick to respond. We had a tech come out for our icemaker and he was so nice and very professional. He checked it out, went and got the part, came right back and fixed it. It was same day service and it was very good.

American Home Shield's contractors for plumbing and air conditioners are horrible for my area so I call them and tell them which companies I don't want. I've tried to find another warranty because everything is being denied and you gotta fight with them on everything. But recently they sent Texas Plumbing Pros and they replaced my water heater. They understood what I needed and didn't start trying to upcharge everything like all the other plumbers do in the area.

I got a good recommendation from somebody to use American Home Shield. When the door handle came off of our refrigerator, I didn’t know how to put it back on. So, I went online and put in the claim. One issue was the cartridge valves on the handles for the shower. The other one was the sump pump. It was not functioning at all. Central Ohio Home Maintenance came in, fixed the issues in 30 minutes, and left. They were friendly, professional, and point on.

I had a power outage very recently. The breaker wouldn't stay on and it turned off because of overload but I couldn't get it to go back on again. I emailed AHS and they charged $75. H&C Electric came out to fix it and the tech had to take the breaker box and do something with it. They were incredible. The tech was professional and very courteous. He knew his job and he got it done in record time. It was a very good service and everything has been good since they came out. I would have him again.
I have had American Home Shield for over 20 years and I’m very happy that I’ve had them because there’s always something going wrong when you have an older house. It’s nice to feel that I can call them and I can get some help. I have looked at other providers because, as the time goes by, the rates go up. But I want to stay with American Home Shield because they’re always very prompt with anything that I ask them.

I’ve been protected with American Home Shield for a number of years since I bought my home. My experience has been great. They sent Budget for the furnace that wasn’t staying lit. It wasn’t continuing to blow the hot air. I went through the AHS site to file the claim and it did everything I needed. They assigned the contractor and the contractor contacted me. They were amazing because they did same-day service. They rerouted somebody the same day that I filed the claim. The tech simply cleaned the sensor. There's a sensor on the back of it, that if it’s dirty, it's saying that there's a problem. Everything has been operating brilliantly, unfortunately, AHS paid the $100 service call and all he did was come out and scratch the sensor clean.

I had American Home Shield a couple of years ago. Something happened, I quit, but I had them again since August this time. All Hours Emergency Plumbers came for the garbage disposal. It wasn’t humming and just stopped working. It wasn’t doing anything. I didn’t have a problem submitting the claim online. The contractors came out two days later. They called the next day, scheduled an appointment, and came right out. All Hours Emergency Plumbers were professional, and the garbage disposal has been good since they came.

I submitted a request on a property that I own where I met the electrician from On Call Electric and the tenant of the property. There were three things that I reported. One, the utility light in the basement did not work. Second, there was sparking in the outlets inside the upstairs bathroom and in the hallway. Third, there was an outlet that was not functioning in the master bedroom.
The electrician needed time to get the authorization from AHS. I left them to go to another appointment and then he ran out of time that day but let me know that he received the authorization. I set up the time with him where he came to the house the next day to complete the work and at that time, he met with the tenant. He was a very nice, soft-spoken man and I was very pleased with the service. The only thing that I thought was different was I had to be asked if he has a business card and he said no, but I could take a picture of his van so I did. I’m a Realtor so I always need good contractors. Overall, AHS did a great job.

I had a leaky faucet handle, I had a trap under a sink that was leaking, and I had cracks in the toilet. I filed a claim and American Home Shield gave me a time as to when to expect the contractors. Adam's was good. He pretty much put in new things. He put in a new sink trap and they replaced the toilet. My claim was all handled wonderfully.

Our heat pump died and the outside fan wasn't turning at all whenever our system would come on, whether it be for cold or hot air. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield and found their site easy to use. We were given a window between 11:00 and 2:00 to expect Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery to come out and service the claim. Their tech was early and he was efficient. My system started working right away. Now it's functioning like it's supposed to. I've been with AHS for four years now and keep them has been a good idea because of the weather at my location. Other people better sign up with them.

I tried to open the garage door and it would raise 2 feet then just come right back down. I submitted a service request through the American Home Shield website then I received an email that said I would be contacted within 24 hours. The contractor called me later on that same day and their service was outstanding. The technician showed up and 30 minutes later, he was complete with the repair. He discovered what the issue was immediately and I was very pleased. Everything has been functioning great since, too. As for AHS, they have been professional and they've given me a quick response whenever I have a claim. For every ticket I submitted in the past, there's hardly any delay in getting the company to contact me and get the problem repaired as soon as possible.

Our microwave over the stove was not working properly. I filed online first with AHS and then made a phone call and they said someone would contact me within 24 hours, and someone did. The contractor was professional and did what he had to do. Everything went as well as could be expected and was done in a timely manner.

American Home Shield is not efficient. I have placed an order on their website and called about my A/C needing repair. It has been 5 months and still no progress. I get calls from the contracted company regularly. They stay in contact better than AHS.

I'm a Realtor and I've had American Home Shield for every house that I've had. We moved here from Austin, Texas and we had the warranty on our house there for five years. We had the air conditioner fixed probably 10 times. We bought another house in October of 2018 and we've had AHS on this since then. We've had a pipe leak and the washer-dryer fixed on this particular house. Our front-loading washer started walking on its own. I noticed that it was kinda shifting to one side so I called it in. I was told that one of the struts was out. The tech said that he would get the part in a couple of days and for me to not do laundry until then. I was like, "Are you serious?" He got me the part the next day instead and installed it. My washer has been working great.
One thing that we had an issue with with AHS was we had to trust the appliance person on what was covered and what was not covered. With our air conditioner, we had to pay quite a bit of money because they said we had a coil out on it. But we didn't know. They just said this wasn't covered. It was like, "Is there somebody we can call to confirm this or are you just trying to get money out of us for this air conditioner?" They didn't have a list of what was not covered. They just say, "This isn't covered. Give me $1,800." And was weird. But that was the only time and I think that AHS has improved this. I'm sure there is an itemized list but I don't know how to find it.
That aside, AHS is a great service. I recommend a home warranty to all my clients. I tell them that I have one and I always talk about my experiences with AHS. Being a real estate agent, we have a lot of clouts. Some agents say they've never heard anybody needing a warranty and that it's not a deal. I hear that all the time here in Washington but never in Texas because it was built into the contracts for new buyers. I always sing their praises. Warranties have been so helpful to so many of my clients and for me too.

We had an Amana dryer that wasn't working and we submitted a claim to AHS. They sent JR Appliance to do service. Both the first and second technician who came from there were very professional and courteous. The first guy said that he had to get a kit for it. JR came back and the second guy repaired my dryer. It worked for a day but then it stopped again. I called JR yesterday and left a message but I haven't heard anything from them yet. Still, AHS seems to be on top of things.

The hot water heater had some sediment in it. I called and Sigmond Plumbing came out two hours later. They drained the sediment and heater is now working fine. But I've had Home Shield for five years and thus far, nothing I’ve called them about has been covered. I’ve never really had to do anything but pay them $100 to make a recommendation of who to call. Whatever it was the contractors were fixing wasn’t covered by Home Shield and we’ve paid for the repair to the company. It’s not what I expect.

American Home Shield was the top of my Google search and I've had them for a couple of months now. I called in a claim and their process was easy and straightforward. I have a plumbing stoppage and I just called them yesterday on that. They had the plumber call me and the earliest they could come out is in a week. I'm kind of fighting with them right now about a more reasonable timeframe to get someone to clear a plumbing stoppage right now. This was a bit frustrating. They're supposed to call me back. I'm sort of in limbo right now. Other than the timeliness of vendors for service, my experience was okay.

American Home Shield is good. They are very quick and it's easy for me to set up an appointment verbally or through the internet. I’m a interpreter so I help not only myself but many other Vietnamese people as well for communication. AHS always works well. They do appliances and they do water. I have a lot of Vietnamese people I recommended AHS to and they all signed up because I told them that they are the best. They know my name and my account. I know all the procedures and how that works. I’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time and everything is good.
When they sent out Dan’s Pro-Lock, the guy from there was really good and very professional. Time-wise, they were perfect. They called me the day before and 30 minutes before they came. Everything was very nice. They showed me a little bit more of what I needed. The guy was an experienced locksmith and was a very nice guy.

It’s impossible to get somebody on the phone from American Home Shield. It takes a long time to wait for a rep and sometimes, you get disconnected and then you have to start all over again. It's a nightmare. It’s not the way you would wanna treat your customers. You have to do everything over the computer. If you don’t have access to the computer right away, you're screwed.
The heater was no longer heating up the room and it's a fairly new unit, so it had to be repaired. We have been satisfied with Fayette Heating so far. We had another company before that came out for a different issue and we were not that satisfied with them. They did the basics of what had to be done and maybe that’s how you were supposed to do things but I pay a deductible of $125 before anybody even comes out at this point. So, it's frustrating when AHS sends people who just do the bare minimum and the company only covers the bare minimum as well of what needs to happen.
People should keep shopping around if they’re considering a home warranty. I've had other home warranties and AHS is my second one. I've been with the first one for many years and that turned out to be a complete nightmare. You can put what you pay every month on your membership to the side and save that up. There's a lot of money that you're putting out. If you don’t have any issues in your house, it's just lost money.

The AC was not working and it happened the Friday, we put in the claim, and the contractor didn’t come out until the Monday. And then they came out the wrong time. When the tech came in, he said that he was trying to do the AC leak. He said that AHS only pays for a certain percentage for the refrigerant so we had to pay 400 for it. They told us if anything happened within 30 days, we’d have to call them back. We don’t have to go through the claim because they are responsible for it if anything happened within the 30 days. We had to call them back because the leak wasn’t the main problem. When he came, we couldn’t get to turn on the unit because the screen for the thermostat had blanked out. He replaced the thermostat.
The last time when we called them back, the guy said that he detected a leak under the house. He kept going into his van to make a phone call. So when he came out and he told me that the guy said that he filled it all the way up, but he is detecting that it’s a little bit low, which I didn’t understand all of that. So the guy checked something and then he went into the van again and then he come back for the machine, on the lines under the house and said he detects a leak, which from since then, it was still chill around here so we didn’t get to put on the cooling system as much. But we put on the cooling system Sunday and it was working. It was blowing cold air to me, so I don’t understand what’s going on with them. But for some reason, it’s not heating the house like when we first got here after that incident happened.

I've had American Home Shield ever since I moved to Arizona. I was with them on and off for 15 years. There were a couple of years that I didn't own a home. But every time I own one, I use them. I'd tell neighbors to get the home warranty. American Home Shield is perfect and I love them. I called them when my unit was running continuously with no heat. They were fabulous. It was freezing cold around here and they had somebody out right away to fix my unit for me. Their contractors were wonderful too. They were really nice. When they left the place, everything was exactly like they found it.

All-American Plumbing people were first-rate. They not only were knowledgeable and efficient, they wore uniforms. They were very pleasant. It’s head and shoulders the best vendor we’ve had out here in some time. However, it’s extremely difficult to get through to Home Shield, which I'm sure is partially by design. We have a major problem that is associated with a water leak in our Sub-Zero refrigerator. Water leaks from apparently what is supposed to be a drain line at the back of the thing accumulates at the bottom of the fridge and freezes. And eventually, you can’t close the vegetable drawer and you have to turn it off and go in, use a hairdryer and melt the ice, and there it goes.
We had more than three calls from the same folks about that and they tried to repair that with a variety of different ways, but nothing worked. Last fall, they finally gave up and said that the contractor was going to recommend to Home Shield that the refrigerator would be replaced. But then, nothing happened. So then, I called several times and talked to Judy at one time, and half a dozen other people, and was told that there was some glitch in my contract coverage. The contract was good through November 29th, 2019 and the problem began in May of 2019. So, I don't see where there was a glitch in it. The contract is extended from 11-29-19 to 11-29-20 so I’ve had constant coverage.
I’ve been a member for several years and they were not going to replace the refrigerator. Yet the service people told me that they had recommended this some time before October. So, the refrigerator continues to leak. It doesn't do any good to pay $100 and have a service guy out here because they do exactly what we do, which is to melt the ice, get the ice out of there, and start all over again. Every four weeks, I have to take the vegetable drawer out and melt a big block of ice down there and get it out, and then go back to refrigerating.
I’ve spoken with folks at Home Shield's phone line twice and they said there was no supervisor. I couldn’t escalate it anymore. This has just been a constant problem. I have not been able to get anywhere. In fact, I looked up the home address of Home Shield, which is in Memphis, Tennessee, to try to get in touch with somebody out there that actually would deal with this because the folks at their phone line take orders for appliance repair but they're not equipped to deal with anything that goes any further than that. Apparently, there’s nobody on-site to deal with it.
One of the difficulties is that when you call these people, it can be up to 45 minutes on hold before you have somebody on the phone. So, if you're busy, it’s specifically designed to keep you from harassing them or bothering them. So, in the event that if you do finally get to someone on the phone line, and then, they look on the computer screen and they say, “Well, we can’t do anything about that,” or “We’re not gonna do anything about it, or “Your contract doesn't cover that,” which is baloney because my contract covered everything.
You are supposed to get a webchat, but that has been very unrewarding so far. It has all been, “You’ll need to talk to somebody else or something like that.” I recognize that this kind of company is dealing with people who are upset because there’s something wrong with their house, and they may not like the vendors and so forth, so there are probably a lot of dissatisfied, complaining people out there in the world, and Home Shield is not going to make it easy for these dissatisfied, complaining people to get ahold of somebody and continue to complain. But there ought to be something on that exceptional website they got about how to escalate something off the chain if you can’t get things worked out with the folks at the end of the phone
You talk to the people who are in the Philippines in their call center and they try to be pleasant. They got a script that they read from so they were trying to be pleasant. But there’s nothing that they can or will do about this. In fact, the last two service visits for the refrigerator were from the people I spoke with. That’s all they could do - to get another service call. The last time the guy showed up and he said, “I’m not even gonna look at your refrigerator. I’ve been here three or four times. I know what’s wrong with it. We’ve already requested that they replace it. There’s no reason for me to do anything.” That has been an issue since last August or September.
Except for this refrigerator thing, my experience has worked out fine. American Home Shield’s service has been reasonably efficient and pretty good, and we’ve been satisfied with most of the vendors. I’ve been using the internet where you tell people you have a problem and you want something fixed. That seems to work okay, but this one issue as far as my refrigerator is concerned has really been very unsatisfactory because there has been no way to deal with this effectively. It’s a dichotomy thing.

My downstairs heater didn't turn on anymore but Fahrenheit HVAC put a new board in it. It fixed the problem. I'm still dealing with a claim though. It's kind of a pain in the neck. I have two hot water heaters, and in the claim, the second hot water heater never even got looked at. It's also leaking. And now, it's like pulling teeth to get somebody out to fix my hot water heater. AHS said they have reached out to the vendor as well but I'm getting really frustrated with it.
AHS is really easy to get a hold of, but the vendor that they chose won't return any of my phone calls. The first vendor was City Plumbing and then they switched out the hot water heater. The second one is Pipeline Plumbing, and this guy won't answer the phone or call me back. He had an appointment and then he marked down that I wasn't home which I was, and it really made me mad. Then he marked down that he was unable to reach me. I answer my phone every time it rings. So far, everything's been good with them. They seem to be above the board but it's this other company that's frustrating.

The Repair Shack has been here about eight times. We have two ovens and one oven broke about four times, and then the other oven, they can’t replace it. They couldn’t find the parts needed to fix it. So, we’re working with American Home Shield to try and get the replacement of the oven. They recommended one which is a convection. The Repair Shack fixed our refrigerator. A couple things went wrong with it, so they had to wait for parts. They fixed it kind of incrementally. The Repair Shack was very helpful and very quick. AHS has been great. We appreciate having it and all the repairs they’ve done. Everything’s good.

We had American Home Shield on a previous house a few years back and we have them now on our house. We just closed on it just two weeks ago. We had a leak on our water heater and we made a claim with AHS. It was really easy to do online. They were able to get a contractor out pretty quickly. It was J & K Plumbing and their guy was here in 50 minutes. He fixed the problem and it was quick and easy. Everything went really well.

American Home Shield sent someone from Shapiro Appliance who fixed everything. I sent a message to the lady who helped me, Portia. She reached out and helped me get another company that could take care of the problem sooner, which I really appreciated. I told her everything was closed. I had a sheet that somehow got stuck under the agitator in the washing machine and it broke. The tech had to take it out and take it apart and put it back together again. I couldn't do that. He was great, very patient talking to me and very professional.
My only issue with your company is my premium went up substantially from like 800 to 1,023. And they said, “Too bad.” I can’t even count how many years I've had AHS. We had it a lot of years in my other house and I like the convenience that they pick the contractors, that I don’t have to deal with contractors. You send me somebody, and if I don’t like them or I don’t like the work they do, I call and you’ll send somebody else out.

Our garage door mechanism quit working. It wasn’t opening and the gears wouldn’t pull the door up. We originally called a local garage door person and we were just gonna have it fixed, but nobody would ever get back with us. So then, I said, “You know, we have this home warranty. I wonder if it’s under the home warranty.” We looked it up and it said it was. We called American Home Shield and within a day, people were corresponding with us. It was very good. They assigned American Door Masters for this claim and they were really good. We were very impressed with them. They responded and kept in touch with us. They were really on it.

American Home Shield has been great and I've been with them for nine years now. When I call them to submit a claim, the reps are always very courteous and helpful. The contractors are very good too. I had no heat and I originally submitted the claim online and that it was either the heat pump or the furnace. I also called in the morning to clarify that I didn’t have three days to wait for it to be shipped around to contractors at the beach and they would choose not to come. I specifically requested the Clean Air folks that had been here before ‘cause they operate on the east side of town. The same gentleman who fixed the heat pump came out and determined that it was the blower on my furnace and replaced it. It’s now running 100% the time and I’ve got heat. Even though I had to make another call for clarification, everybody was on top of it and I got the assistance that I needed. The appropriate vendor was contacted, it was scheduled, and the technician arrived in a timely manner and fixed the problem. It went smoothly overall.

The tech who came for my refrigerator was absolutely on time. He came up and I showed him what was wrong. Then he did his own investigation. The sensors that when you keep the refrigerator door open too long had broken off and the gaskets were worn. He reordered new ones and told me that when he got them, he would be back. A few days later, he called, said he had them, asked for an appointment, came over, and put them on. He also replaced the gaskets.

Sneed Electrical worked on my dryer in the past week. When I filed a claim for it, I was told to go to the website and select the date. The next available date was about five days later. The tech who came was professional, answered questions and did as expected. We had to have a part ordered, so they did. I called them and they said it would be a couple more days before they could come back and put the part back in, which wasn’t too long. If something else came up, it would be fine for them to come back and work on it. I also filed a claim for leaking sinks. Submitting it online was fairly easy and pretty straightforward.

I had an issue with the ice bin. Te icemaker wasn't making ice because the bin was filled. I didn’t know how to get the ice bin out and to reset the filter. The tech from Service Connection gave me a tutorial on how to do that. When you make the call, it’s $100 and it cost me $100 for nothing major. But the young man was very knowledgeable and he took care of everything right on the spot. The service was wonderful.

The compressor of the refrigerator broke so my husband called AHS to submit a claim. The contractor that came out was awesome. Their service was excellent. Unfortunately, it takes forever to get the parts from LG. So, we were without a refrigerator for two weeks. But once the part came in, American Home Shield called right away that they had the part and then they scheduled the repairman, which was the same guy, to come back the next day and he fixed it. It was a great experience. Other than when a bad company came out to fix our furnace, we’ve been happy so far with AHS.

I had a plumbing issue where AHS sent Johnson Plumbing out for. They did really well and I liked them more than anybody I’ve ever used. They were prompt, very knowledgeable in what they were doing, and they brought equipment with them for whatever reason they needed. So, I’m very pleased with them. The tech who came was very professional and helpful. There was a leak under the kitchen sink, right where the joints meet. Also where the dishwasher drained into the drainage system, there was a bad connection right there.

The furnace was not turning up even though the thermostat would show 70. I called the 24-hour number Saturday morning to see if AHS could get somebody in. They gave me a notice that they were gonna charge me $100 for each call. They charged my bank account then I automatically got a text message that Sierra Mechanical would be coming in. The tech came in later that afternoon and got it done. He knew what the problem was and he also knew what he was doing. The sensor that communicates with the thermostat was dirty and all he did was clean it. It took him about 10 minutes then everything started working. I thought he could even replace a sensor, but he said AHS doesn't allow that unless the sensor is really broken or cracked, and that wasn’t the case.
I’ve called in 3 times for my icemaker. The contractor comes in and changes the icemaker. It works for just a little bit, then that’s that. Now, I turn the icemaker off for about 3 days then turn it back on, and it will just make a tray of ice one time, and that’s it. I didn't know that I have 50 days to call for the same issue. I thought every call was gonna be $100, so I just let it be. But this time that I called this, I wanna make sure that they really take everything apart and try to figure it out because I’m getting tired of calling in so many times.

American Home Shield sent Allstate Plumbing Colorado to fix the water heater in the basement. The water heater was flooding. They checked. There was one pipe that was busted. The guy was very good and professional. He came in and he knew exactly what the problem was. He got measurement, got the parts, and got it fixed. Initially, I went to American Home Shield's website and then tried to put up my claim. It appeared to me that the nature of the repair was not mentioned in their website. So, I chose the closest appliances that I had, and it turned out that it was something different. They chose something like a heating and cooling company. And then I tried to call this heating and cooling company for the whole of Sunday. I left several messages too, and the company never came in.
I thought I better talk to somebody on 800 on a personal basis too. So, I called American Home Shield and they immediately figured out what the problem was, and then they suggested Allstate Plumbing to me. That was Sunday night. The next morning, they called me and they set up an appointment. The guy came in before the appointment. So, it worked out really well. I’m fully satisfied with American Home Shield. As for the contract they gave me, I chose a plan to pay $100. So, they just deducted $100 after the repair, and everything worked out very good.

On this house, we've had American Home Shield for 12 years. I’m always ready to quit but then I rethink it and we stay on. I like the warranty for ordinary things like the refrigerator and the stove. But if the claim is for a high-ticket item, the company tends to say they can repair it and then we end up taking cash in lieu of it and buy a whole new system. The guy from AT Appliances was excellent though. The temperature was out of whack in the refrigerator. We opened it up and it was too warm. So then I called American Home Shield and they sent him out. He temporarily fixed it, ordered the part and then came back and installed it. It was very good. Getting the part took a day. It was overnight.

We've had American Shield for five years and we’re happy. Even though we’ve had some problems, they’re right on it in getting me hooked up with whoever I needed to be hooked up with. The contractors are professional, especially the last guy. He let us know he was coming, and he came. He checked out our dryer and knew what the problem was. He had the part on hand and fixed it within 20 minutes too.

When I push the button, the garage door only goes up about 4 inches and then stops. Either it goes back down or just stays where it was. It wouldn't open or close any more than that. I got stuck in my garage and I had to manually open it in the morning. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was straightforward. I like having the option to choose my contractor. All these happened on a Thursday and I put in the request on a Friday. I didn't know how fast somebody would be able to come out and see me so it was nice to try and find a contractor that would have a time that would fit my schedule because some of the ones that were provided weren't open on Saturday. But it was easy getting the guy out there.
As soon as I put in the request, that company was calling me in 20 minutes saying they could be out there within the hour. Then, American Home Shield was sending me emails and letting me know that the contractor was on the way. There was full communication from beginning to end and with as much other stuff I'm dealing with right now, that it was like that was such a breeze to deal with. I'm very thankful I went ahead and bought the more expensive policy because everything was covered with the garage door. Everything but the door and the track was covered, so the guy was able to mess with the spring. It's great.

The garbage disposal stopped working and Lake Plumbing came out. The tech was great. He came out for a few minutes and he didn't have a garbage disposal to give me that day. He had to order one and as soon as that came in stock, he came out and, in less than 10 minutes, he was done.

The pump seal was leaking. There was water underneath the pump. The other thing that was happening was that the filter was draining. It was suctioning back into the pool. So I replaced the gasket myself on the pump basket. But it was still losing suction. I noticed that there was some water everyday out there. So I figured it was a little bit more than I could handle. I sent in a claim and I got J & J Pool, but I couldn’t replicate the problem at that time and I didn’t know what was going on why the filter was suctioning back to the pool. So I cancelled that service and I got refunded the $100. I called Hayward Pump and tried to ask them about the filter and they said I had a leak. So when I went back out there, I saw where the leak was. I went back online again and I was assigned Alchemist Pool.
The tech did everything the first time through. I was there with him because I like to watch so I can do it myself. He took out the parts, put on the new gaskets, and put it back in. It went back in the first time, and he was very efficient. I’m having a problem with the limit switch, and I gotta figure that one out right now. But he said he couldn’t look at it because it’s electrical. He could only work on the mechanical part and that I would have to enter another service order for an electrical problem.
When I bought the house in 2013, there was already a contract open on it with American Home Shield. So I just took it over. I don’t have to pay for the big repair items. But I don’t like the fact that the price went up to $73. It kinda took a big jump, but then again, I don’t get hit with a big repair bill. When I had my refrigerator worked on, at least somebody came out, fixed it, and it was done. I’ve actually thought about cancelling and looking for somebody else, but so far, they’ve been responsive and it’s been very easy.

AHS put my coverage in fine print and I could hardly read it. A lot of the stuff I thought was covered, wasn't covered. I had a garage door spring break but then my AHS warranty doesn't cover it. It just covers the motor. Another day, I had a garbage disposal go bade and they said they didn't cover that either. Still, their contractors have been really nice. I've been with AHS over a year now and putting in claims to them has been pretty simple.

We had a bathroom sink that wouldn't drain. We submitted a claim for it on Friday morning to AHS and their contractor, Patriot, was gonna try to come out that afternoon. However, it didn't work in our schedule to get somebody there. On Saturday morning, I found out my water heater was leaking and so I called to see if I needed to put in another service request. Patriot knocked out both issues on Monday morning. It was a weekend of having a leaking water heater, but in the end, it was okay. We've had a few issues with our house and AHS has been great to work with. We've gotten our money's worth out of the warranty. Usually, we get a contractor within a day or two and they get the situation knocked out. This warranty has been a lifesaver.

My dryer didn’t start. It had power and the LED is on, but when I press the button to start, it didn’t. I did an online claim to American Home Shield, and they sent At Home Services within 24 hours. The technician was really good. He was open to help. It seems that he got experience. He fixed it really quickly, and also, he gave me advice as well on how to avoid the same thing from happening. So, that was good. With AHS, I like being able to open this ticket and have service done in my house in a quick timeframe without thinking on higher cost.

I’ve been under American Home Shield’s program for a few years now. I have 12 items that are set up under the program. It’s nice that you can call and they can come out right away to resolve the problem. The filter was leaking every time the ice maker came on and the technician that AHS sent was stating that the ice maker needs to be changed out every six months. He was very good, sufficient and quick-moving. He took care of the problem and told me about it. He showed me how to take it out and how to insert the filter for when the six months are up.
The technician left me with the old filter so I could have the box and told me exactly where to go if I need to get another one should this problem arise again but he also said that if I can stay with the six months and changing it, I’ll be fine. I can turn my ice maker on now. I had it off for a couple of years and I ended up buying some ice trays because I was trying to wait to make sure no other appliances were acting up. It’s kinda bad when you call for just one item but it’s been nothing else.

My fiancé and I both quickly came to the point where we DESPISED calling American Home Shield after less than 3 months of having them. American Home Shield hired a contractor to replace our hot water heater. Contractor chosen for us by AHS. This contractor spoke very poorly of American Home Shield and first asked to reschedule our appointment and then showed up 3 hours late. After he already rescheduled one other time before. Did a poor job of connecting piping (pic attached).
Reported issue FOUR TIMES to AHS over a month and a half period. Was PROMISED a call back from every representative I spoke to. Not a single call back was received. Called to cancel 2/28/2020 after only starting service 12/02/2019 because of the incredibly POOR SERVICE received from American Home Shield. American Home Shield FAILED in staying true to their promise of taking care of their customer and calling me back. Asked the amount of refund I should be expecting for the 21 months of service I did not use prior to cancellation. Representative informed me that there would be no refund. NO REFUND!! Then she stopped and saw that I had a two year contract. I asked her why anybody would choose to cancel a contract without receiving a refund and she could not answer that question. Said she would check on my account further and call me back.
Called back 30 minutes later to inform me that she cancelled my contract. I would not be receiving a refund and could not reverse her action. I DID NOT ASK TO HAVE MY CONTRACT CANCELLED WITHOUT A REFUND. No one would. My only other option is to speak to sales and PAY for another contract. Shortly thereafter my fiancé received an email stating we now owe a cancellation of $95 to AHS. I could not speak to a manager. And she could not reverse her action even though that was not performed per my request. Most all operators are oversees and have a hard time of understanding the issue or reading notes in the system. Cancellation fee when you cancel and no refund; even after only using 21 months of a 24 month contract.

I submitted a plumbing claim online and, unfortunately, it took me calling American Home Shield a couple of times to figure out where the claim was. Their parts department wasn’t responding to them, so we were without a water heater for about two extra days. I waited a day, started to call them, and then the next day, they had something for us. The guy was straightforward and he did not waste any time. He said what they were looking at, what it was going to require, and that I needed new pipes. The plumbers they sent on both occasions were great. We also did a rekey and that was great too. The guy came in, was here for two hours, and gave some good recommendations.

The microwave wasn’t working. The light was going on and off. We called American Home Shield and they helped us schedule something. They went ahead and looked for someone. Then they found someone but was far away, so they found somebody close by. This person stayed with us on the phone for about 10 minutes and they did a good job. When they went in, they fixed the light and told us how to use the microwave appropriately. The microwave is in mint condition right now.

The dishwasher had a bad motor and I called American Home Shield. They gave me Central Appliance and the technician came when he said he was gonna come. He inspected my dishwasher, told me what was wrong with it and said that it was gonna be a few weeks. Then, he came back and fixed it. He was a complete gentleman and he did a great job. Everything worked fine. If something breaks, I’d like to keep in touch with him. I’ve been with AHS since December and I had an issue with my plumber the first time. The plumber they sent sucked but AHS did the right thing and it all worked out. I have no complaints. I hope nothing breaks and I don't have to use them but if it does, I know they are gonna be right there. So, I’m happy with what I have.

I had a leaking bathroom pipe and my shut-off valves to the water weren’t working. Also, I had to change the showerheads. It's always good whenever I called Home Shield. They have good customer service reps and you just tell them what you need and they just send somebody out. Also, they always send me an email and tell me how far the contractor is out, how close he is to my house, if he's gonna be there in five minutes or whatever, and so does Rick, the plumber from Tavor, who always called me, too. I had them before and I wish every time I called in about plumbing, I get the same person.
If you have a 10 o’clock appointment, usually, people would either show up at 10:00 or a little after. He's always early because he came out and checked what needed to be done the next day after I talked to Home Shield. And then he saw what had to be done, and he just told me, “Okay. When I am gonna submit, whatever it is, and Home Shield will say it's okay to go on and do it, and I'll get all my stuff.”
He then called me when it was all done, and he said he would be out on Wednesday, told me the time, then he was here at least 15, 20 minutes early, or maybe earlier, and he went on and fix the showerhead because the condo didn’t turn the water off until 10 o’clock. He did other stuff he had to do that did really need the water shut off. So, about 10 minutes to 10:00 I called the home office down the hill from me, then they sent someone up and he went downstairs with him, and the guy showed him how to turn the water on and off. That way, after he finished the work, he could check it and make sure it was working. So, everything worked out fine. I have no more leaks and if I had to turn my water off, I don’t have to worry about having to call the condo office and have them send a plumber over to do it. All my shut-off valves are working.

I'm very happy for all the things that American Home Shield does for me. We've had them for three years and whatever they're doing now is good. They always call me and have a response right away. It's very easy to submit a claim. It's nice and very friendly. We don’t have trouble and it's always a good experience. When my washing machine was having issues, RC Appliance came out and the experience was good.

I had two back-to-back claims with American Home Shield. The one for the AC went well. It was the motor in the AC and Three Brothers A/C & Heating did a good job. Then for the water heater claim, the company that AHS sent out had to get a regulator thing and the place that they normally buy it from didn’t have one. The company was helpful, but their owner wanted more money and he said that he would do it for $140. They had other vendors where they could buy it from, but it was a little more expensive. In order for them to do it that weekend, they had to get the part from the more expensive place or I had to wait four days without hot water. If it was available in places, they should buy it. So instead of $100, I paid $240 which was the cost for them to get the part. AHS needs to have more options, especially for something like that when it’s cold outside and you have people coming in town to the weekend.

The guy who came out was really young but I could see that he was experienced. The first time he came, he really couldn't do too much 'cause the problem I had wasn't showing up. I had to call him back again because we didn't get anything accomplished. They didn't charge me for that particular call but he came back for the same thing. I would have liked for someone else in the business to come out and confirm that. But that young man was very helpful. That's the first time I've ever had a claim with Home Shield in years and the cost is too high. For $80 a month and then you gotta pay $75 for them to come out, that's pretty steep.

The water heater wasn’t working and I submitted a claim over the phone. Budget AC Heating did a good job on it. Their technician is good. They came back and finished and now we got hot water again. I've had American Home Shield for three years and this is only the second time I've called them. Both times, my problems were taken care of.

I had no heat and my unit would try to start up but it could not ignite. So, you could hear it trying to start up and it would blow for a little bit, but it would never catch on and blow warm air. I called AHS, got a case number, then the technician came out. But the problem was, the heating system would come on during the day and would not come on at night. That was the hard part because people don't work at night. You have to be able to replicate the problem and if someone were to come out during the day, the heat would be working.
So, I had to kind of explain that in a lot of detail and a lot of urgency to the people who were to come out. And I didn't realize this at first. After a few calls and not having to cancel finally, I figured out what was going on and I was able to contact somebody. I had them come out really early first thing and Staunton River was able to do that. They were great. Everybody was also so helpful at AHS. I called them a number of times and had to cancel. Then, one lady kept helping me try to look up other people who might be able to help though she didn't have to do that. So, that's hard to find these days and I appreciate it.

We had the refrigerator and the stovetop fixed. The contractors came on time and did a good job of repairing both within the hour. The workman's name is Roger and his assistant is Collin. The refrigerator would stop working and Roger found out that there was some kind of shortage on the outlet behind the refrigerator. I also kept burning my food. So he first thought it was a fuse on the stovetop and then he realized that what was actually wrong was the knobs were not placed properly. Roger was very professional and he did a good job. They were good. I need to call them back to ask them about my ice maker because it is making so much noise.

The claims submission process with American Home Shield is not hard. But it all depends on who they send out. Some people are good and some people are bad. It also depends on what the issue is, if it's plumbing or electrical. The people who came out for my water heater, from the Best Care Home Services, were fine. Our water heater leaked and they came out and looked at it. The guy had to submit something to American Home Shield and they said he could replace the part. It had to be ordered but neither of them ordered it. When I finally called, I asked what was going on and Best Care said there was a mix-up. They thought AHS was ordering and AHS thought they were ordering it. So we had no hot water for three weeks, basically from the time the call was put in. Then you get your, "Oh, we're sorry. We're sorry. We're sorry." It doesn't help.
A year and a half ago, I had an issue with the heating system. The contractor put the furnace in but they were terrible. Their workmanship sucked. It was a furnace air conditioning unit. It's all outside and they had to rip the old one out but when they finished, it looked like crap. It didn't look anything like what they took out. I hope the people AHS hires can be improved.
On top of that, every time somebody comes out, they always have to make adjustments or modifications. They never just replace something. I know American Home Shield can't see what the person is saying but there hasn't been a time when I've used them on that house in Tennessee that there hasn't been a modification that needed to be made. I know that's what the contractors do to pad their stuff because they're only gonna get so much from American Home Shield. The contractor would say how much the water heater would cost and the labor they put in but then they would always say it's no good, that they have to replace all this and put new ductwork in. Give me a break. No, they don't. That's a bunch of crap.

I've been with AHS for a long time and things has been working well. I put in a claim with AHS on a Friday for a garbage disposal and the contractors were there Monday. They put in a new one.

Requesting service has been really easy with American Home Shield. I normally do that online and everything gets done in a timely manner. Also, I’ve called a few times just to get clarity on what is and what isn’t covered and it has been easier and faster doing things online. The contractors they send have been professional and they tell me what's going on. They also let me watch over what they're doing.

The contractor was very prompt and courteous. They had to order a part for the heater and they thought it was gonna take a week, but it just took two days to come in. After they replaced it, the heater went out again that evening. So my wife called the company and the guy said it was just a fluke. It was the igniter that went out, and he replaced it. He came out in five minutes after my wife called and replaced the igniter. So it was really good service. American Home Shield was easy to talk to. I was satisfied. It was a good experience.
