The electricity from our house to our shed wasn’t working. When making a claim with American Home Shield, you just go online and put in what you want. It’s not a really detailed request. You just say it’s an electrical issue, they’ll give you a few options and you put it in. They have the person call you up and set up the appointment. It’s been pretty easy. For this particular claim, I was assigned to Cook-Craftsman Enterprises. The tech figured out it was just because the breaker was tripped. That was easy. There was also another light that would not come on and he traced it down to our ground wire being disconnected.
The only part I had issues with was with a plumbing problem. Because of the COVID, the first plumber that AHS called said they wouldn’t come into the house and it was an inside leak. They had an appliance guy call and I told them that they can't fix our ice maker. We were just getting the house ready to move in. There was no refrigerator to fix. AHS had to go back and find a plumber that would actually come into the house. With the one that came out, I couldn’t ask for a nicer person. He went above and beyond. He even checked out our well, which he didn’t have to, to make sure everything was okay.
The plumbers checked out the spigots outside and other things in the house as well to make sure they're okay. The guy turned on the water to make sure that all the lines are fine. He found a leak in one of the toilets so we had to replace the seal on that. We wouldn’t have known about that until we turned on the water. The guy already fixed that. I’ve been really pleased with the people AHS chose.
The only thing is when you call the company itself, you get somebody that speaks very foreign and broken English and they have a script. When you ask them a yes or no question, they cannot give you a yes or no answer. They just repeat what they’ve got on their script to say. I asked them that if we couldn't find a plumber that would come inside because of the COVID, were they going to extend our warranty? We were trying to get it done during the warranty and if it didn't get done until after the warranty expired, were they going to honor it because of the COVID virus. All the rep kept saying was “We’ll make sure we get it fixed.” She never gave me a yes or no answer.
I was very unhappy with that customer service call and their customer service. But it doesn’t matter. They got it fixed anyway. Despite that, I would still recommend AHS because the people that they had come out were excellent. They were prompt. The electrician called us up and said, “Hey, we are your electrical contractor. We got a guy that could be headed your way. Would that be okay?” They had somebody all ready to go when they called.

The technician that came out for our appliance issue was very professional and very skilled. He looked at the problem and within 20 minutes was able to diagnose it and then another 15 minutes to repair it. The repair was quick. He fixed it with a metal tape. The heat from the dishwasher worked the box that the relay sits in, so it was not lining up and it caused the dishwasher not to work. But he said he was familiar with it and he’d done it several times and it shouldn’t be a problem anymore, and he was right. I expressed this to the person that I called at AHS. I paid the $75 visit fee, however, this is the third time for the dishwasher. $75 times 3 is $225. A brand-new dishwasher is 295. If it should break again, I don’t even know if I would even call it in.
For my airconditioning, AHS didn't pay to replace that either. We identified that the air conditioning needed to be replaced but it broke down at the time that I didn’t wanna look at the purchase price versus having them repair it over and over again. But the repairs up to the replacement of the air conditioner were done well. I'm not worried about the air conditioning and the HVAC anymore. The only thing that I would be worried about is the appliances. I pay my account by the year, so all I've done is I bought another year’s worth of low-cost repairs, for the 700 and some dollars. I haven't benefitted from it other than the repairs and $700 is a lot to pay for on just repairs. We definitely will not recommend AHS.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

Having coverage with AHS is very easy. I don’t have to start shopping for people. When I need something fixed, I will just pay the service fee, and usually, the people that they send are very professional. My service fee is a little high. But the stuff that I need to get fixed is usually more so I’m very happy with their service. They’re usually very responsive. When my AC wasn’t cooling down, Royal Flush came out and they were able to fix it very quickly. The guy was ahead of time. He told me that he had a cancellation in the area and if he could come by. He was very friendly and explained everything.

I called Home Shield at around 7:00 that morning and they said, "Hey, they don't open 'till 9:00." My grandmother was in the house so not having any heat was a big deal. Air First was at my house within an hour and they didn't even open until 9:00. Air First Mechanical was great. We've been doing this with Home Shield for a while now and it was definitely one of the better experiences.
The only issue I've ever had is with another contractor. They came out for our water heater that went out. Home Shield said they would cover another one and we had to pay 500 out of pocket. So, we gave the contractor the 500 but the guy never came back. We had the company calling and they said the tech just quit on the spot. They didn't have anybody out for a couple of days without it because we had already paid them. So, there was really nothing Home Shield could do. It was out of their hands. They gave us a free service call and I made two for that. They should do a better job screening the contractors. I know that's hard to do, but the recent contractor is one of the better ones.
When we call, I would like to see that the people who we talk to were more knowledgeable about coverage. Sometimes they didn't know until the contractor actually came out. When we sign up, I would like to see a list of, "Hey, we do cover your water heater if this happens. So, we don't pay for these parts. So, estimated cost or average cost of the hot water out of pocket is X amount." Just so we know because in the insurance industry overall, people just assume the whole thing is covered and there's no out of pocket. You just pay your deductible and that's it, and that's sometimes not the case. I would just like to see more of it just so that I personally know what I'm dealing with. If I thought I only had 100 and I got to shell out 500, that's a big difference on parts that aren't covered.

The contractor that came to fix our AC was good and personable. They worked on it. They did have to send a second person out the next day. They wound up being here three days in a row. The first day, the damper motor that they had on the truck, when he went to put it in, it wasn't operating. So, he had to come back the next day and got that in, got that installed, but there was something amiss with how the dampers and the thermostats were working. And so, the guy came out the next day and tracked down what the issue was. There was some mislabeling from the previous installation.
Submitting claims online to AHS was fairly easy with this exception. I have also called because there was an issue with the microwave and the refrigerator. And so, the one with the air damper motor not working and needed to be replaced, that was the single order that worked. The microwave and the refrigerator, I wanted to make those at the same time. I went online and I did the one, and the questions was, "Do you have another?" And I went, "Yes." So, I had to call in to do that one. And I was on hold for half an hour. What I ended up was the next day, I just went back online and set up the other order. I should have been able to do that on my first time, not have to go and be put on hold waiting for somebody to come on asking for the second one.

The thermostat went out and there were no digital numbers on the screen at all. We couldn't run it and we couldn’t do anything. We contacted American Home Shield and they got in touch with somebody to come out. BPM came out and it seemed like it was a domino effect of losing the Freon. It was a very old unit. I bought the house in August and this house was built in ’93, and I think it was the original unit. It was gonna cost us $750 that wouldn’t be covered by American Home Shield because they would only do a pound or two. They offered us an option of a plan and we could apply what they would have paid for repairs to a new unit, which is what we did because I wasn’t gonna spend $750 on a unit that’s 27 years old.
We had them put in a new air conditioning and heat pump up in the attic and an outside unit. They let us deduct what American Home Shield would have paid from the total cost of the new unit and we had to pay the difference. The guy said that American Home Shield would just repair and repair and they don’t like to replace. It cost us $4,000, but I feel like that was just the best thing to do. Now, we have a new unit and hopefully, we won't have any issues for a long time.

On Saturday, December 21, 2019 upon returning home around 9:30PM, I found a flood in a guest room, a result of a drain backup. When I called AHS for emergency plumbing service, and after having given a payment of $75 for the this, I was told that a contractor would call me within 4 hours. When no one called back, first thing the next morning I called again. The agent (judging by the accent and grammar, at a foreign service center) said that the fact that no one called meant that no contractor was available and, understanding that this was an emergency, I should call my own plumber (as long as they are not on a “do not use list” of six local-area plumbers she named) and submit the bill with reference to an OSA Dispatch Number she provided.
The contractor I contacted started work within two hours to minimize damage and worked most of the day to resolve the problem. For this, I paid him in full, $750. At 4PM the day FOLLOWING THE COMPLETED REPAIR (12/23/19), I received an email from AHS confirming the authorization to use an independent contractor and listing among other requirements that the contractor call AHS to have the work preapproved. At no time prior to this was I told of this requirement. When following all other protocol I submitted the bill for reimbursement, it was denied for the lack of preapproval.
After spending countless hours on the phone being passed from department to department and supervisor to super-supervisor, I was told to track down the contractor and have him call in to provide the diagnosis and dispatch number, which he did. Further countless hours and emails later, my claim is still being denied for the same lack of preapproval (one supervisor authorized repayment of the $75 fee). I was advised that the case has been closed. Attempts to cancel my policy (in a 52-MINUTE phone call !!!) were not successful as the agent informed me that he has no authority to do that and someone would call me back. In another phone call I was told that a service charge of one month’s premium would be charged.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

I’m very pleased with AHS. They’ve always been really fast on a claim. When you put a claim in, somebody comes out really quickly. In November, a company came for the heating and disconnected all the wires up there. Our AC was working before that though. I filed a claim with AHS and the technician from American Air came out. He put the wires back together and the AC worked. He was very professional.

AHS assigned Total Air Care to our claim and they had a great technician. We talked and he was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. He did his thing. Everything was great. The problem ended up being one of the wires from the thermostat in the house. He said it happens. It's one of those rare occurrences where one of the wires goes bad. But he went through the whole system and he said, "I bet you this is what it is." He walked right to it.
AHS is very prompt as far as getting to the needs. I will probably go ahead and renew with them. I'm pretty satisfied from this point. The only problem we had was doing the AHS survey. When the technician was here, we were trying to complete it but it would get to a point where we just hang up. I checked my wireless system and everything was functioning properly. The technician tried to come up on the system on his individual phone but was unable to. There was something going on. They could've been working on the system or updating it at that time. Eventually, I got on there and I completed two surveys now.

The tech didn’t have to repair anything, but he looked at the unit and everything was up and running. It was like a service call, so I should be good through the summer. I got a recommendation from our Realtor on American Home Shield, which she considered to be the best of the four or so that I was looking at. And she was right, so I’m very pleased. When I submitted my first claim with them, I did it on the phone and did the second one online. Submitting the claim online was easier. When I had an issue with my washing machine, it was a weekend, but within a few hours, I got a notice. Then the contractor came out the following Monday or Tuesday, which was no problem. He was very courteous, polite and clean. He also appreciated that we had everything moved away from the washing machine. The washing machine was making a grinding noise like someone had thrown marbles in the motor. It was also going into a fault mode on me on the screen. He was able to come in and diagnose it pretty quickly. He also fixed it rather quickly and put everything back in order like it was.

Gilmore, the contractor AHS sent got to me within 48 hours. The guy who came was Bryan. I also had a previous contractor that came out, but they weren’t able to resolve the issue that I had with the dishwasher. However, they were pretty good as well. They escalated the claim to someone certified on the particular brand that I had, which was Gilmore.
Bryan was very knowledgeable and knew what to do immediately and stated what his fix was. If that didn’t work, then that would be the next course of action. I didn't have to wait and say that it didn't work and then have somebody else come out. He did his course of action. Some parts had to be replaced. He came in a relatively quick time and exchanged them, but that wasn’t a solution. He then said that the dishwasher would need to be replaced because, at that point, he would be kinda trying to track down a wire, which would be too tedious and time-consuming. I was very satisfied with him.

My furnace air conditioning kept going off. We would flip the switch and it would run for a while but then click off again. That went on and on and we decided that something had to be wrong because it wouldn't run according to the thermostat. I submitted a claim to AHS and their tech from Myers Comfort Specialists of Birmingham came and he was very thorough. He spent a lot of time looking at the machine and said that there was a pipe out of the unit that was originally 4 inches wide. At some point, somebody reduced that opening to three inches. The unit had an air duct that took the air somewhere. The pressure would build up in the unit because it didn't have four inches of space for the pressure to exit.
He said that the issue was something that American Shield’s not gonna pay for to repair. He told me he was gonna hang around to watch my unit for a while and be sure that what he thought was the problem was the problem. He hung around probably over an hour but it never cut off while he was here. He told me that if it cuts off again, I am not to do anything. He said if I flip the switch back on, the system erases the code that would tell us what the real problem is. The next time it cuts off, I should call AHS and tell them to send him back out so that he could see what the code was.
I asked if we had to pay another $75 deductible for him to come back and look at the code. He told me that was the way AHS works and that I would have to do that. That was where we left it because he said that’s the only way they could really know if his analysis was correct or if there was something else wrong with it. The tech was young but he seemed to be very on top of things and trying to figure it all out. He was polite too and what he said made sense to me and I'm someone who knows nothing about heating and air units.
We called AHS another time about some plumbing and our experience then was okay. The young man who came didn't recommend that anything else be done. So far, I've been really pleased with AHS because in the house I lived in had a different warranty company. I had a lot of problems with that company. So, in comparison, I feel like American Home Shield has been good.

ABM Appliances & Electronic Services came out to fix an icemaker. I submitted the claim over the phone to American Home Shield and their reps were great. It took the contractor about a week for them to come out, and it took them four trips before it was finally fixed. When the guy did the first fix, he pinched the water line, so then my water thing and the ice thing weren’t working. So, I called back and nobody called me back for a bit, and I had to call them again and left a message.
Then, the manager of the place insisted that they had changed the icemaker. But I knew that they had not. So, it was like some tag back-and-forth between him and his guy. And then, finally, the guy said that he had not changed the icemaker. So, he made an appointment to come out. I worked two jobs at the moment, so it was hard to get them to commit. Then, they gave me a time window and the guy was running behind on his time window. I was going to have to go to work, so I told him that he needed to be here because it was at the end of the window and they still had not arrived. But they finally came and changed the icemaker on the four trip. So, it is fixed. Overall, I’ve been pleased with American Home Shield. The few things I have had to have taken care of were done quickly.

I don't know whether that guy was telling the truth. When I was originally talking to him, he sounded like he was driving down the road on the phone. Plus, he didn't have his appointment book and he was supposed to call me back that night when he got to where his appointment book was. Of course, that call never got made. So, I decided to be patient and give him the benefit of the doubt. After a week, I decided that was enough. I called AHS back. AHS then called that contractor and he said that he didn't want to do the call.
At that point, AHS quickly got on with Unitech Appliance Service. Their tech called me back before the end of the day and we set up an appointment for 10:00 to 1:00 the next day. He showed up promptly at 10 o'clock and my issue was resolved at 10:45. I was surprised with how AHS resolved my issue with the contractor. I would think they have some built-in time mechanism through which they would check on a job with the company that was given the work after two or three days if they haven't heard a resolution for a case. Most people aren't as patient as I was. If had been the air conditioner that was out, I would've been calling the second day I didn't hear anything. Still, I've called American Home Shield five times on my house and every other time, the people they have sent have done very very well.
The issue though with AHS though is not with their contractors but with large items such as an air conditioner. People get American Home Shield because they have old equipment and they think they might not have to pay $4,000 for an air conditioner. If it goes out American Home Shield’s process and warranties might lessen that. However, when a customer has a service call wherein the equipment doesn’t have spare parts anymore and their contractors have to use substitute parts that do or do not fit the equipment, the person holding the warranty has to pay for the changes to the unit so that the new part fits the same space. That can get fairly costly.
American Home Shield should pay for all that because a customer bought a warranty on something fairly old and there ought to be some accommodation for when AHS and their contractors can't find the right spare part. I'm paying an amount per month to have AHS and $75 every time they call their contractors even if they're here 10 minutes.
Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us.Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. The electrician who was here fixed one of the things and answered questions on another one. We still have one item that was not finished yet. It was something that he could not deal with because it ended up being the appliance. That was moved over to another company. I didn’t expect him to put the ticket in to move it. I thought it would be something that I would have to do. But he did the transfer and it all came up pretty well. I was very pleased.

Submitting a claim online to AHS was easy. The contractor they sent from Advanced Electrical Solutions was very knowledgeable. He was nice and he explained to me what was going on with my electrical issue. With one socket, some person put the back jab right in the back of the socket instead of putting it around the little screw. It would be nice if I could use an electrician I trust. Still, I understand why AHS has to have their certified people on their list.

Submitting a claim to Home Shield was fairly simple. I had a washing machine claim and they denied it because of what the first contractor they sent out said. Then, Ash Appliance Repair came out for a second opinion. They called right away but it took three days between my schedule and theirs to be able to come out. Everything’s fine now. Ash was very nice and I appreciated them. But I'm not very happy with the service that I’ve gotten from Home Shield and I won't be renewing with them when the contract is up.

More Than Plumbing was very good and the service was very satisfactory. The garbage disposal wasn’t working and it was my fault that I didn't know where the reset valve was. The technician checked everything out and made sure there was no leakage. I've been with American Home Shield for about a year and a half now, and this was my second claim. I was satisfied with the first one also. Everybody at American Home Shield was fine too. When I called to file the garbage disposal claim, the rep told me she would submit the claim and the name of the company she had called. She also gave me their telephone number and told me that they would call me but if I needed to call them, I had the number.

My recent claim with AHS went fine. I had no problems at all. The contractor was here and fixed it pretty quickly. I've used the contractors before in the past for the same reasons for both the heating, the air conditioning back in the day as well. And before I used that contractor, I had a problem with the furnace. I was with another group called Neerings Plumbing & Heating. They installed a gas line in my house and everything was fine there. I was on their regular plan. They came in to do a service on my furnace, just a regular checkup to make sure it was okay. And in the process of doing that service, they broke a small part of it. And in order to repair that part that they broke, they tried to charge me over $800 for that one part. And then they said, "There's a little piece right here that's making a noise. That's gonna need replacing too and it's gonna be another over $1,200." They tried to charge me over $2,000 for repairs. I said, "Get the hell out."
So I called up American Home Shield, and this guy came over and he looked at it, he said, "I know what’s the problem." He went and got the part and repaired it. And even without the American Home Shield picking up part of the tab, that would have cost me 150 bucks, the whole thing. He said, "This other part that's making a noise that needs to replace, it just needs to be cleaned," which is what they were there in the first place. I said, "Okay. So, Neerings are crooks and I'm definitely hiring you again."
Most contractors that AHS sent have been pretty good. The one time that it was a bit problematic was when I first moved into my house a few years ago, I discovered a problem on a Saturday. I went down to the basement to where the main water valve was ‘cause I had the homeowners then put a little cover over it 'cause there was a hole in the wall. I did a quick inspection of the house and I opened up the cover and there was a leak. There was a pipe that had burst. And so, we had to wait 'til Monday to call the lines of AHS. The rep said, "The soonest we can get a plumber out to you is in three days." I said, "That's not acceptable ma'am because this is a leaking pipe that's 'causing damage every minute that you don't cover. So, here's what I'll do, I'll call my own plumber, get them out there, and then I'll pay for it, and then you'll reimburse me later." And that's exactly what they did. And overall, the experience was favorable.

It's only been a month since the repair of my washer. There were other contractors who came in and they said it needed a part. But this gentleman quickly fixed it by tightening up something on the bottom. I wanted to put a ticket back in because the washer is leaking water again. I called the contractor and with this virus, I'm sure it's why he would say I gotta do a recall with Home Shield. Otherwise, he would have come and retightened it.
Also, there were some moments, because Home Shield was overwhelmed, that I wasn't getting callbacks and put on hold for very long periods of time. But once they did get back with me, it was very good. Also, they need to do a little bit more scrutinizing of the contractors once they see that they're not responsive or they're saying things that aren't true. I had two other contractors who were awful. But the last one I got was awesome.

We both thought it was fixed but yesterday afternoon, it started getting really hot. The unit was not cooling and keeping up again. It was reading 71 on the thermostat, but it was saying that it was 77 in the house, and I realized that there’s more wrong with it than just what he replaced. I've had American Home Shield for a year this time, but on my other houses, I’ve had them for several years. I’m a Realtor, and I bought it because they service my real estate company as well. I’ve had them off and on for years, depending on what house I’ve been in. Sometimes, the warranty system calls right back and sometimes, it takes them three days. I’ve been in a house over in Cobb County and I waited three days without air conditioning in the summer. That was very upsetting. They kept saying they were very busy. I’ve dealt with many vendors through the years and some are good, while some are bad. I’ve had very bad experiences in the past, but I was satisfied this time.
Power was out on half the house and I called the home warranty company. The young guy who owns Professional Systems came out that day. He’s a bit far. I live in Ball Ground, and he lives in Gainesville, but within the hour, he came. He called too. He was very professional and he went above and beyond. I’d definitely use him again and I would recommend him to everybody. He was one of the best vendors I’ve dealt with in years. He diagnosed the problem and it ended up being the power company’s problem. He went down to the fuse box and explained everything. He called the power company for me and set up a meeting for them to come out that afternoon to give me a temporary power thing until they fixed it. This experience was extremely well.

I called American Home Shield for my hot water heater. A tech from K&S came out the next day because the heater was leaking. He did all right. But I did a cash-out option with American Home Shield and I had somebody else do the installation. The only thing is I pay AHS right at $100 a month and you can't call in to do a claim because it takes you an hour to get somebody on the phone. They push you to do it online. And when you do it online, you can't put in there what's really wrong half the time.
I did a claim the other day because my bathroom faucet was messed up in my bathtub. I put that I had two faucets messed up, but I had a total of three issues with plumbing. The company that came out couldn't do it because it wasn't clarified on the claim order. So, it's just a bunch of crap. If they're not gonna answer the phone and then they expect you to do it online, you should be able to type in there what's wrong so that when you do your claim, the people that come can fix it. All they have is an option of clicks. "Click here. How many faucets?" “3.” It's fine but if you have multiple issues with the same bathroom, you can't list everything that's wrong with the plumbing. I'm shopping for new home warranty companies right now.

So when it came time to change, I knew a couple of other people that already have AHS and they suggested we try them so that was what we did. And so far, we're happy. I've only had them in a short period of time. I've only had to use them one time and it was pretty good. The sink was leaking and the tech had to come out and he took the piece out. The caulking around the top of it wasn't any good. He cleaned it off, put it back in, recaulked it, and it's been fine ever since. He was friendly and he did the job very well. American Home Shield seemed to fit my needs the best. During my initial phone call with the representative, she was amazing that’s why I decided to sign up as a preventative measure. As a college student on a budget, I don’t wanna have unexpected expenses.
When I wasn’t getting hot water to the bathtub in my shower, I went online and filled out the information plus the issue. I believe if it cost more than the service fee of $100.00 they will find a way to not pay for the repair. Since cast iron pipe is no longer used in sewer lines and mine needs to be repaired/replaced with PVC pipe, they are calling it a modification and are refusing to authorize the repair. Why pay this much money for something that is of no use to me when I need it most? This is so wrong!!!!

We had a leak in what ended up being our faucet upstairs. AHS sent out 2 Sons Plumbing and they were very prompt. It was the quickest service we've ever had with AHS. The tech was very professional. He went in, assessed the situation, went out to his vehicle, got a part, came back in, and fixed the problem. He probably wasn't even here a half hour. He was done and out the door.
The first time, we had to wait for months to get something accomplished with AHS. Submitting claims to them is no big deal and it's usually the same with getting the initial call. We had our washing machine, refrigerators, and microwave fixed. There were some other plumbing issues too. And they had always taken months to get them fixed. The biggest issue is sometimes getting the service. Other times, it's getting parts authorized.
When our microwave went down, it was like $500-something for them to fix it. But come on. Why not just put in a new microwave? I thought that was ridiculous. It took like a month and a half for the parts to come in for the microwave. We went and bought a countertop microwave to suffice us until we got our the one over the stove fixed. The biggest thing for me is the speed of things. When you have a household of eight people, it's hard to be without a washing machine. We literally went and bought a washing machine because it took AHS a month and a half to fix our last one. In case one unit breaks down, we have a spare. But once the service is done and the unit's fixed, it's nice and it's pretty inexpensive.

Growing up, my mother had American Home Shield on her home and I remember when the air or different things around the house would go out, she would always call them and she was very thankful to have that. So when my husband and I purchased our home, we knew that we needed to get a warranty like that, and I knew that American Home Shield had worked well for her.

Ace’s Garage Door Repair did an excellent job. The carrier for the main gate was busted and I called American Home Shield's customer service to get that claim in. I spoke with a live person and our interaction was cool. I was told to expect the contractor the following day or the day after. It was quick and the guys called me right away. They set up an appointment and everything went smoothly. They came in early too.

The guy that came over said he fixed my toilets because they were running. He looked at my water heater and he told me that my water heater was old and it needed to be replaced. He added that it had sediments in it and it was rusty. I told him okay and he said he was gonna put it in so AHS can give me a new heater and it’s up to the warranty company. I get a notice from AHS and they said that they were not gonna cover it. But I have paid a lot of money for this service. The water heater gives hot and then the next time if someone’s gonna take a bath, it’s cold and then about an hour later, it’s hot, but it’s not constant.
When the guy came the second time, nobody warned me that he was coming. I was in a e-conference call with my bosses and I couldn’t disconnect when the guy was at my front door. I told him that they didn’t call me to let me know they were coming so I could prepare. I couldn’t even go to the door to let the guy in. He said that he would come back another time and then he left. I called them today and they said they will send somebody out Thursday to look at the water heater again. I’ve had AHS for quite a bit because I like the security of having it. I paid for my daughter's policy last year and I was gonna renew it and pay for her again. But I don’t think I’m gonna do that because if something breaks, they'll repair it, but if it’s old or something’s wrong with it, they don’t wanna replace it.

I had an air conditioner that was making noise and a fan would not turn. I went online and schedule a claim with American Home Shield. Their contractor Comfort First Heating & Cooling, Inc. contacted me the next day. I called them up, they came and replaced parts on my unit which were bad. Afterward, I had to reopen the claim because my AC wasn’t cooling. It turned out to also be very low on Freon. Comfort First should have checked the Freon levels while they were at my place. My problem necessitated another visit and they had to come back the next day. Still, they did good work.
My home was built in 1996 and some things are gonna start breaking down at some point. I have some expensive appliances though. One of them is a $3,500 dollar combination stove-oven which is a high end model. There was a $3,500 charge to replace the oven as AHS's contractors couldn't fix it. AHS has a $3,000 limit and because I reached that, they forced me to go into a new contract that was more expensive to keep things going. Still, I've had AHS for about five years now and they've always done a great job for me.

When our sump pump in our basement was not working, I called the number on our paperwork and when I call, sometimes I talk to a person. (I made a claim at 8 o'clock at night a few days ago for our garage door and that was automated). I would also get a verbal that somebody will be in contact with me from that company within 24 hours, then I'll get a follow-up text message that states exactly the same thing. But Perkins Plumbing called almost immediately. It was 7 o'clock at night, and they still gave me a call to schedule something the following day.
I have two sump pumps in my basement and they're within close proximity to each other. The original issue didn't end up being the actual issue and I had to have them come out three different times. Austin was apologetic. Everything single time, he apologized for not getting it right the first time, which wasn't his fault anyway. He came out every time and he was excellent and professional. I like him. Overall, I'm also glad I had American Home Shield. I’ve had to call them for a couple of different issues and it has been smooth every time I called. I'm very satisfied.

We had to have a new thermostat put in. It wouldn’t come up to the temperature. We called American Home Shield and told them what was wrong, and then they scheduled somebody. And the contractor contacted us and told us when. And they were there promptly. The guy that came out said it was the thermostat. What I didn’t like about it was that they put a big sales job on me in saying, “You need to go ahead and pay $25,000 for a new air conditioner,” when I don’t think we needed it at that time. What they did, they put a new thermostat in there and then reprogrammed it. And everything’s fine so far. But they told me that everything would shut down during the summertime, and I needed to put the new units in there. I said, “I don’t know if I agree with that at that price.”
I’ve had American Home Shield send contractors out as well when my oven went out. And it was excellent service what this guy did to get me back up and running. American Home Shield has been really great and I’m glad I changed over to them. But they need to scrutinize the contractors and what their plan is. If it can be fixed, they should fix it. If it can’t be fixed, then I understand that.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

We bought a house and I had picked American Home Shield because I had used them previously for about three years. I'm 61 years old and sometimes I'm not as astute on the computer, but it was easy for me to get on, take care of the claim. It seemed very responsive and I enjoyed it. In the past, it was a little different then and it was usually dealing with a phone call then. The contractor got back to me quickly. He came out about a month ago and fixed something. Then the second time I called, they got back and sent the same guy out which was good because he knew what the problem was, so that made it easy. I haven't got my issue fixed yet, but they seem to be following through with it. My issue is not that easy and it is not very obvious what caused it, but I'm happy with the contractor. He seems to be doing a good job. I am going to keep AHS around for a little longer than I have to. It seems to work and I'm happy with the program.

I went online to AHS to submit a claim for the garbage disposal. I love the website. However, I don't know how to add additional things. So, if it says "other", I don't know how to say, specifically, what the problem is. So if you have a dropdown and only five issues, and one of them is "other", I'd pick "other", but it doesn't give me a chance to explain it. I don't know how to do it, because even when the contractor came, the issue, it spilled over to the garbage disposal. He had to rod it out and do all this other stuff on one side. 'Cause I have a two-sink thing and the issue went over to the garbage disposal 'cause now it's leaking. But the contractor that came was professional. He also put those little footy things on. He also identified the problem and he explained it to me. It was a very smooth process. They replaced the garbage disposal.

I’ve had good experiences with my warranty so far. The company is pushing to make customers log in and go online to submit claims, which is fine. I’ve done it that way. But that requires you to sit down at a computer to do it and sometimes you’re going to work or you’re trying to do things. So my preference would be to be able to call. I had a claim with my freezer and Appliance Yikes came out within a few days of me submitting the claim, which had to do with my scheduling too. I like calling somebody up and speaking to them on the phone. Ace Pool Service handled my claim really great. It was taken care of. I was surprised how fast Home Shield took care of it. I've had things that didn't go as smoothly at all so I'm surprised that this time, it actually was so much better. However, let's say you have a back up and there was a problem with your toilet and you really needed to get it fixed, you don't call Home Shield because when you do, then they answer, but the service company would take a day or two to come out when you need your toilets. Your washing machine is overflowing and you need someone right now, you have to call somebody else. So, with emergency things, Home Shield is not for it. They're more for something that you could wait a day or two for.
Home Shield is great, but if you need something fixed or a part, like I've had an oven that needs to be fixed, it's a week or two process because it would take two days for someone to come out, and then they need to order a part, and they have to get the part approved. Then they get the part approved and they have to order it. There's a whole process with everything. So, when you need something done immediately, you can't call Home Shield. That's the only downfall. There is no emergency line coming out, like a Roto-Rooter type of thing that comes out right then and there, and then they run to Lowe's and get the part and put it right back in. With Home Shield, if you could wait a week or two or a few days, then you call them.
But other than that, I would always get Home Shield because the times that I needed them that I was able to wait, they were there for me. Anybody that ever moved near me or I saw in any person, I told them, "Don't forget to get Home Shield." I always recommend it. I'm very happy. If I needed to cut out a bill and it would have to be Home Shield, after my recent experience, I wouldn't cut it out.

Everything went extremely smoothly with my recent claim with AHS regarding my AC unit. My brother called and within a day, someone was out. It was fairly convenient and very nice. First off, I’m a handyman myself, so I do a lot of things of this type, but I don’t do it on my own house all the time. When the technician came out, he was very informative. He let me just watch and learn. It was very simple. He had the parts on the truck. We walked outside. He took a piece of part, put it back together with the new piece, brought it back inside, installed it, with a total of 30 minutes max. We both knew immediately what the issue was as well. He didn’t even have to do a diagnose because I told him what it was. He looked at it and said, “You’re right,” and then he replaced the fan. It was just a blower fan of some sort in the AC.
This is my first experience with American Home Shield firsthand as a homeowner. But it is not the first time I've ever heard of American Home Shield in the past. Before we bought this warranty, we were very skeptical because we’ve heard a lot of negative things about customer service and then things of that nature. For some reason, my dishwasher kept getting the 9E error code. And it runs through, but then, it stops. I’m unloading my dishwasher right now to clean all the dishes because they don’t clean as well. National Platinum came out to fix it three times. There was a gentleman here, they ordered the part, and they put that new part in because they thought that was the issue, and then he left. The next day, I turned my dishwasher on and the 9E error came out.
I called Home Shield again. They brought National Platinum Service out and the gentleman that came out was real sweet and just said, “Oh, they forgot to do something with the dial inside the part.” So, he fixed that. Two days later, it happened again. So, I called Home Shield back again. And then, they sent National Platinum out. His name was Jacob. He checked it all out and he said the other guy didn't do something he should have. He said he thought he got the problem solved, but if he didn’t, he gave me his cellphone and told me to call him. And so, he left. The next day, I turned my dishwasher on and I ran it twice because I thought, “Let me try it again.” The 9E error came back again.
I talked to Jacob yesterday and he said, “I’m sure they closed the ticket. I need to call American Home Shield and tell them to put another ticket in for National Platinum Service,” because he thought it was the water thing that comes up that might have to be changed. He thought he had it right. So, he probably needs to order another part to see if it works and to keep it working.
I’m not happy with some of the contractors. There are some things like if something goes wrong with my air conditioning, I know who I want around the area. And then, something was wrong with my hot water heater and they sent Hardy Plumbing out. I didn’t care for them because I had a 50-gallon water heater and they put a 40 in. They said, “No, we took 40 out.” I said, “I know you took 50.” I had a problem with the one they put in because it isn’t giving my hot water for some reason. We had it adjusted. They sent someone else out to take a look at it. On the wall, it said 50 gallons and the guy just didn’t believe me. The other plumber said, “We got this right here, 50-gallon.” I was like, “I knew it.” But at that time, I had hip surgery so I couldn’t really go where they were to put my foot down.
The only thing I find is that the service people that sometimes do, they're not quite up to snuff. But the ones I like, I try to say, “I want this person” or “I want that person.” But other than that, we’re happy with Home Shield. It’s just for some reason, my dishwasher is acting crazy. They can’t seem to get it right. I’m getting to the point where it’s just a pain in the butt because it has been happening for a while. Maybe it’s time to either say, “Let’s throw this one away and try new" or whatever. I’m very satisfied with Home Shield.

Once, I had a problem with AHS. I called them and requested to have my dryer vents cleaned. They sent out a repairman and, as usual, the contractor called before coming out. I told the woman that all I needed to do was to have my vents cleaned. She said okay and told me when the man would come out. When he came out, he brought all these tools. I asked what those were and said that those were not so he could clean. He looked at my dryer and I said all he needed to do was to clean the vent. He said, “We don’t do that.” I said, “I explained to you what I needed to be done and you told me over the phone that you did do it.” He said, “No, ‘cause we’re liable for that.”
When I called AHS, the rep told me I had to wait until the ticket came back and then they would have to find someone that did it. She said to stay on the line and I did. Then she told me her name and hung up. I called back to speak to the same woman, and the supervisor wouldn’t let me speak to her. I said that they said they were gonna fix the problem. I also said that I paid out $106 for nothing.
However, my most recent claim went perfectly. When I went to flush my toilet, water started coming from everywhere all of a sudden so, I turned it off. I kinda figured out what it was, but I have arthritis and I couldn't do those kinda things with my hands. The personnel that AHS sent out have been out to my house several times for different things. He's pleasant and shows me exactly what he's doing and we discuss it. When he came out, he told me that it was a quick fix. He showed me exactly what he was doing. The problem was the hose where the pump is had come loose from the thing and he had to push it back in and make sure it was secure enough so it wouldn’t come out the next time. I said that I kinda figured that was what the issue was. He said he remembered you and that he changed my garbage disposal. I tell everybody who is buying a house that they want AHS.

We submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a seal that was broken such that water was leaking whenever we tried to put on the water line to the refrigerator door. They sent out Josh's Appliance and their tech fixed some of the equipment in the ice machine. It turned out that the issue wasn't my ice machine or the equipment Josh's Appliance fixed. The issue was a leak in the evaporator coil and the problem was the refrigerant level. Josh's Appliance never got around to replacing the evaporator.
Josh was out three or four times and the last time he was out, the ice machine still wouldn't work. I had told them that I thought the problem was the refrigerant level, but the tech didn’t take that. All Brands Appliance, another one of AHS's contractors came and checked the refrigerant level and found that was the problem. They also found that we had a leaking evaporator. They had to get the part though and that delayed the repair for a couple of weeks. They came this week and replaced the evaporator. Now the ice machine works fine but the dispenser in the door doesn't work. My refrigerator is 9 years old though and it is what it is. Josh's Appliance screwed up my deal with AHS. American Home Shield used their guy but it turned out that he completely misread what was wrong with the refrigerator. Still, from AHS's standpoint, my experience was excellent. They did everything that we asked them to do.

I've had my house for almost three years now and the whole three years, I've had American Home Shield. The people that I bought the house from had AHS and they paid it up for the year when I bought the house. And when the year was up, I decided to keep it for myself and I'm glad I did because I like it. I had a leak around the faucet of the kithen sink and I filed a claim online. The website was very easy to use.
The tech from Rapp's was very nice. He explained everything that he was doing as he was doing it. Also, he cleaned up after himself and didn’t leave anything in the house that didn’t belong there. But after he fixed it and left, I looked under the sink and it was still leaking and dripping around the top. I called back and they came out. He said that my disposal was leaking, so I needed to make a new ticket. My insurance doesn’t cover the disposal. I got the disposal replaced and then there still was a leak underneath. The tech came back and tightened up and replaced some stuff. I never had the problem again.

The refrigerator went bad. The contractor found out that the problem was the compressor and it wasn’t worth fixing it based on the value of that refrigerator. He recommended not fixing it and notified AHS. AHS said to get a new refrigerator. I got it in less than a week because he diagnosed the old refrigerator on a Friday, which kinda held everything up. AHS was notified on Monday. I've had a wonderful experience with AHS. They have been relatively spot-on and they’ve been wonderful both times I've used them. I've tried to get my neighbor to get AHS, but he’s kinda bull-headed.

My dryer was making a noise and it stopped. The tumbler would no longer tumble. Appliance Pro came and repaired that. I tried it within a couple of days and it didn’t seem to completely heat like it had been before. So the gentleman that they sent came and he tweaked it. He was very thorough. He explained to me what he did. He had to go outside and he said he had to clean the flap that goes on the exterior of the house that keeps the air flowing and it’s been working fine. It needed a new piece in there. He ordered that.
They offered to deliver the part because I was in and out but I told them I couldn't have them deliver it because I didn’t know when I was gonna be home and my husband was in a hospital. So I went by there when they called me and picked it up. Everything went well. I’ve never had a problem with Appliance Pro even before American Home Shield contracted out with them. I did business for them for over 20 years with the same man that owns it, and I’m very pleased with them. They have always been a good repair service.
Over the last several years, I had very good experience with American Home Shield. They worked with me. I had a contractor that had been out there before and did work for us. He told me what the problem was and I said okay. Next thing I know, I was getting a call from American Home Shield saying that they’ve been in contact with him and they needed this and that, and we needed to get a new this because it was so old. I challenged it because the contractor told me what was wrong and I didn’t have a problem. But he was telling American Home Shield something else to make him some money and I was not buying it. So American Home Shield did got another guy out.
The next man came out who was new to me. He did what appeared to be a even better assessment. All it amounted to was it just needed a filter change. He gave us some tips on that when he left. We usually keep up with it and went out and bought it within 30 minutes of him living my house. So far, it’s been good. We haven’t had to have a new unit. I’ve been very, very pleased. But I told American Home Shield that the first contractor is never to come to my home again. I will not deal with a dishonest person.

Everything went fantastic with our recent claim to AHS regarding our appliance issue. We were very impressed with Gary's Appliance. He went right to the source of the problem immediately. He didn't have to test this or that. And he's been here three times. As soon as we put the call in, Gary's Appliance let us know that he's received an alert from AHS and if he can't get to us, he'll tell us he’ll get to us shortly thereafter, and he generally does. And when he shows up, he seems to be knowledgeable in numerous appliances. This entire experience with him has been good. We'd like to see him on future service calls.
We also submitted a claim to AHS for the dishwasher years ago. It seemed to be out several weeks and it was another local guy they had. It was terrible. The part he put in didn't work. My wife was not happy with it and it reflected on American Home Shield back then. But Gary's Home Appliance is a credit and an asset to American Home Shield.

I can’t even tell how many years I've been with American Home Shield, but we’ve used them for so many problems that came up. They were perfect and we’re very happy with the work. Their contractors are knowledgeable and seem to be informative, too. This is the only time we had a problem. PJ Appliance came out to handle a situation with our refrigerator-freezer. We wanted to get the icemaker portion of it fixed and they weren’t able to do it because we didn’t have the container that the ice is supposed to fall into. It would’ve been $100 to get a replacement container, so we have not done that. Other than the disappointment that we have with the refrigerator, we’ve never had a problem with AHS. Everything was always well-done.

I had an issue with the filter of an appliance and AHS sent Jones Electronics. Their guy did fine, fixed the problem and was here a total of six minutes. But then, he just unclogged the filter which I could've done. Additionally, I had an issue with AHS which never got resolved and got to be frustrating. There was a time when our master shower was clogged and filling up. The baths in my little girls' bedrooms weren't draining either. The tech sent by AHS that time didn't address those at all. Instead, he made me buy a pressure valve and he said our pressure was too high. What he did didn't really fix the problem. I could never get a hold of the contractor after.
I tried to get a hold of American Home Shield to report the problem but they had no idea who those techs were. The techs were really nice but then I felt like I got swindled. I told AHS that I got upcharged $307 and the techs didn't address my issue. I had to call a plumber who then came and fixed my problem. American Home Shield should've at least refunded what I paid. That has never happened. It would be situations wherein I would be told that their reps would have to let someone in a certain department get a hold of me. They would tell me to hold so they could get me to the right department.
I was on the line before an hour and 40 minutes before I hung up. I would've canceled AHS but then I had another issue that came up not too far after that. I was trying to call and speak to a person about the issue but then the reps said that they were inundated at the time. It was like I got red-flagged and they're afraid they're gonna have to not charge me.

As I write I am on hold again pending an agent to get back to me on getting a repair person to come out to repair my oven which does not work because of a problem with the thermostat. The claim was filed a month ago, the first fix didn't work, and the repair person said it needed another part. At this point I was under the impression the repair person would call when that 2nd part was in to install. Two weeks later, no word so I called both the repair person and AHS. It turns out the part was never ordered.
My dashboard says "Authorization under review" and no one has been able to tell me why though one agent told me it was a mistake. I have tried to call every day since then and hold times before I get an actual person is at least 30 mins each time and often I am disconnected. Every answer I have received has been a deflection to someone else who I cannot be transferred to and cannot be named. A supervisor will call me back. The repair company has been contacted. Someone will get back to me in 24 hours.
I have heard many things to get me off the phone hoping that my issue will be resolved, but no one ever follows up and so the next day I'm on the phone again. I have not been able to escalate past the first customer service agent who I feel does not have the power to accomplish anything. The authorization is still under review. The repair firm's voicemail box is full and they are not responding to emails. AHS will not give me a supervisor's name or number so I have to go through the phone tree every day to reach a customer service agent. It is an endless loop that will probably result in my giving up and fixing the oven through another contractor or purchasing a new oven. This was not the point of buying this insurance and I do not recommend American Home Shield.

I had a really terrible experience with American Home Shield cash out option. My oven stopped to work, it did not heat up at all. I submitted a claim with AHS. A contractor checked my oven on January 30th 2020, he said that the control board needed to be replaced. He also said that AHS would call me and would provide two options: fix the oven or cash out. I waited for more than two weeks for a call from AHS. Nobody called me, but I received an email from AHS saying that my case was completed!
I called them myself mid February, there was some confusion on their end. They said first that they can give me $250 cash out, however later they said that in California they have to submit some smart form first to get an estimate and that I had to wait. I called them in a week, but there was no update, they were still waiting for the form to be completed.
Then I called them on March 21st and I spent an hour with support first and then with escalation department. Initially support said that cash out is not an option in my case because it's only a part is broken not the whole appliance. Imagine my frustration after almost 2 month of waiting. A lady in escalation department blamed the contractor and said that he did not provide some part number. She tried to reach out to him, but with no avail. She promised to call me back once she gets required information. Today is March 26th, a week passed. Nobody contacted me yet. Two months passed, oven is broken, no cash out. I spent so much time on the phone. Terrible experience so far.

We also had a claim on our heater but it took a little bit longer on that. The tech came right out two days later and they had to order parts. But as soon as he got the part in, he came in and set it up. I was very happy with both of them. All in all, AHS coverage is very good and I am very satisfied.

I love Professional Plumbing. They always do good. I’ve been calling them out from AHS for a long time. They were timely and friendly. Their technician worked on the disposal. It was making noises like crazy. I thought that the disposal was going and they’d have to replace it again because it’s been around five years since we had to replace it last time. He looked in there and he found this itty-bitty little screw. I don’t have a clue where it came from, but it was in there. He pulled it out and everything has worked fine so I was pretty impressed with him because I looked in there and I didn’t see a screw, but he saw it.
I had AHS dispatch a company to fix my air conditioner earlier last year because all of a sudden, one of the coils started leaking. It was completed. The contractors were really nice and punctual and on top of everything. It took them a while to order the coils that we needed. It took them four weeks to get the big old central part to the upstairs unit and ordered in but then they came and put it in, but I just had the contractor that I have the maintenance contract with, who was also the contractor that installed the system back years ago, come out and they took a look at it and they said, “You know, that is not how we would have installed it. For one thing, that wasn’t the original part, which we stay away from. For two, it’s not installed quite right.” It’s not leaking. It’s working, but they were pretty unhappy.
The problem is, that I had a bumper-to-bumper warranty with them after they installed the system and that ran out five years ago. So these days, I have AHS. I had the contractor come out to diagnose the problem and then I called AHS out to fix it because it cost me $75 and not 2,000. I’d rather have AHS come out than another. Having a different contractor do the work, I didn’t realize that there was a problem with how it got installed. It is working, but it did not make my tech happy.
The only issue I ever have a problem with AHS is regarding the air conditioning because they always try to send out the really cheaper people in town because the really good ones won’t take American Home Shield anymore ‘cause they don’t get paid enough. I’ve had them try and send us one really nasty outfit out that has caused problem all over town. I had to call back and talk with a supervisor and tell them to send me somebody decent out, and then they tell me they can’t. I’ve actually called the home office, the vice president before to get them to pull their head out. But it’s only on the air conditioning. Everything else runs like a charm. I would definitely recommend AHS, every once in a while. I’m really happy with AHS for most things.

My recent claim with AHS is not done yet. Somebody had closed the ticket, but the work is not completed yet. The first company came out. They told me, “This is what’s wrong.” And then said how much it’s gonna cost me out of pocket, and then they tried to sell me the bigger things. They were like, “How about we just sell the whole system?” I reached back out to American Home Shield for a second opinion. But somehow, some clause we have on the American Home Shield which says if the diagnosis is the same, I cannot go with the second guy who came over, even though I like them better than the first one. I’m stuck at a point where my only option is to get it fixed with the people I don’t like or pick a cash-out and do something on my own and hire somebody and pay a lot more money out of my pocket than I already have to. So, it’s a rock and a hard place.
My past experience with American Home Shield has been really good. So far, I called one more time before this, and that one went really well. I liked the guy who came over as well. I had American Home Shield in my former address. Then the house I moved into was an older house, and I didn’t want any problems to pop up that I couldn’t handle. I thought they were reasonable, so I took them and I've with them for about 9 to 10 years now. Recently, I had an outage in one of my sockets. I went online to file a claim and their website was friendly. It said they’d give me a call within 24 to 48 hours, and then they called me. The guy from Adam Electric Inc. was in here for about two or three minutes. He showed me where there was. It was like a surge protector in one of the sockets that wasn’t located in a normal place, it was located in one of the upstairs bedrooms, and the problem was in one of the downstairs bathrooms. The way they got it wired, it flipped a switch upstairs, and that would cut off and hit the power. I guess it tripped. But there's no problem now since the guy's been out.

It was very easy to file a claim with American Home Shield. You just submit the claim through them and they assign you a contractor. I've been very happy with them. When our AC wasn’t cooling the house. I tried to get United Air Temp to come the same day, but it was a Sunday and they couldn’t make it. So the guy came one day after I called. The air conditioner is working fine now.
I was really in love with AHS but the guy mentioned something that I wasn’t aware of. For example, my air conditioning unit is over 15 years old and it is just about reaching its shelf life. So, I thought, given the program, if AHS couldn't fix it, they'd repair or replace it. The guy made me aware that the refrigerant was not covered. Now, we are talking about $1,600 worth of refrigerant because they only cover $10 per pound and then the pound is astronomical. I was not gonna pump $1,600 into something when I could get a unit replaced on my own for 3,000. Every time I've used them, it has been really good and prompt. We also had 60 days for them to come back without charging the fee and I felt very secure with AHS. But after this call, everything changed for me because of this refrigerant cost.

They said the only contractor that could show up within the window could be there within 36 hours, and I wasn't gonna leave my tenants without power for 36 hours.
I contacted the contractor directly after they were in contact with me, and ultimately, they never showed. They were awful. I had to call an electrician myself and get him out there to fix it. I had to pay out of pocket for something American Home Shield should’ve sent a technician to do. Aside from that, everything has been good. I made a claim over the phone for a dishwasher and KC Appliances was there within the next day. They replaced a motor and my tenant said the dishwasher guys were great.

They called and told me when they could come out and I said that was fine. They were good, did their job and it was done in 45 minutes. They were very professional and everything has been very good since then. I’ve never had a problem with AHS. Every time I’ve called for a repair, they’ve always sent somebody out so I have no complaints.

Our AC wasn’t working. I submitted a claim online to AHS and the website was very easy to use. It said we’d be contacted within 24 hours. I put the claim in late Friday and they called me Saturday, but then I missed the call so I didn’t get another return call until Monday. The contractors that came did a great job. Our AC's been operating very well since they've been out.

We had two claims and D&J Services came out promptly for both. The first one was our washing machine a few weeks ago and the tech was great. I loved the guy that Home Shield sent out. He was very professional, especially in these times. He did everything he could as far as taking the machine apart and looking at what was needed to be fixed. And with that one, the part no longer existed. He was not able to fix it but was able to write that up. So, that was great. And then just more recently, this week, the same gentleman came back out to bring parts back out for our dishwasher. It has not been draining. It left water in the bottom. He checked that out and was able to order the right parts. He put those in just this week and that has been running great. So, I thought he was wonderful. At the end of the day, we got a great guy.
I received a check for the washer machine in the mail today so their attention was pretty quick in the turnaround time. I sent a receipt but not an invoice, and they were quick to respond to me that they needed more information, and then I understood what they needed so I was able to email that right back. And then I just received a check today, so that was all a matter of a couple of weeks. And especially in these times, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it took a couple of months so I was very pleased.
There were years that you didn’t need the warranty so you ended up paying your membership fee or whatever the cost was monthly. But in times where you did have a problem, where you needed a fix or a new appliance because that you had no longer was working, that’s the benefit of having the warranty. We’ve been pleased with it. In these past five years in this home, we have seen the perks of having older appliances. So, you have the warranty, yet anything, even newer appliances, with all their gadgets and things, sometimes run the risk of breaking down easily too. So, I would continue using the warranty even if I had newer appliances.

We've got one thing where we've asked for a recall because our sink is still leaking. I've been in touch with them and with American Home Shield, and they're planning to come back next week. Overall, American Home Shield is great. We've used it and will continue to use it. I love it.

I’m happy with AHS. I've been with them off and on for about the last 10 years. I took a holiday and went with First American Home Warranty. They were a bit different but somewhat used the same people. However, AHS sort of let me cover only what I wanted instead of all the junk that I don’t have. It was what made it cost less per month.
Last month, I had a cooktop and the contractor claimed to be Whirlpool. A person explained to me what had happened and what they did about it. They had good communication and they went over and above. All the burners are working and the tenant who occupied the property was happy. And the month before that, we had a microwave replaced.

Our air conditioning is a major issue. Recently, we didn't have any cold air coming out and the fan wasn't working on the outside unit so the tech had to replace it. Our unit is 23 years old and I have a file of all the dozens of calls that have been made over the years to this air conditioner. It's costing me and the company extra every time. It doesn't seem cost-effective and I'm wondering why they don't offer to get us a new one or give us some money so we can get a new one. I've never asked them to replace it but after all these service calls and repairs they've had to pay for, that would be the most economical thing to do. We also have a pump in our basement and faucets that are not covered.

Our heater was not blowing hot air. I did the claim online. I called Mountain Heating & Cooling the next day. Unfortunately, it was a Friday so they couldn’t come out until Monday. They came out, fixed it and it was fine, much better than the last time. We had a heating issue in the fall which was with a different company and that was not a smooth situation. But it had nothing to do with American Home Shield. It was with the business.
The only thing I don’t like right now is I wanted to change my plan and I wasn’t allowed to do that until 30 days before my plan was up for renewal, and so then I had to call and set a date for that. But even now, I don’t see that they’ve made the change. So, I have to look at my plan constantly, every day, wondering. My plan will expire on the 10th of April so I just have to remember to look and make sure that it's upgraded to what my new plan is. That’s a bit annoying to me. I don’t have any validation without having to look at it and I don’t want it to go into the new plan without it being the new plan. Or just somehow show me that it went through so that I know that it went through.
Sometimes, you do things and it doesn’t happen. For instance, I needed to call Alaska Airlines again because they haven’t credited something to my account that they kept saying it would take five days, and it did the third time I called them. So, I don’t like having the due diligence on other businesses. But with Home Shield, I don't know why their process is like that. Even if I got an email that said, “Oh, hey, we got a note that you're doing the…” Some kind of confirmation.

I have my niece from New York who is staying with me now, and she is using the fan in one of the bedrooms. So, air should be circulating. I appreciate the professionalism of TrueAir Solutions. The guy said there was not anything that he could do because he said that we had a good AC. He turned down the AC and it got freezing cold inside, so he did not have to service anything. But we thank you for his promptness and his professionalism. He also said that if we close some of the vents on the west side of the house, then more air will blow on the other side of the house. I called to submit a claim. It was automated and then it forwarded to a live person. The rep was very pleasant. He can’t control the contractor's schedule so he gave me a window as to when they will be contacting me to schedule. JT’s Electrical Services came out to fix the electrical in my bedroom as well as the lighting in the downstairs foyer. Interaction was very minimal and there was no real conversation. When he came in, he asked me where the issues were and I led him to them. He completed them and left. Everything's been working perfectly since he came.

I have four houses, all in a gated community, and I love 2-10 Home Warranty, but we maxed out on claims with air conditioners, washers and dryers and water heaters several years ago. Choice Home Warranty gave me a deal on signing up because I did all four houses and it was the biggest mistake ever. In fact, one of my friends told me to stay away from them. Everything was an argument and I ended up sending tens of thousands of dollars repairing ** that I thought was covered under the warranty. I've also waited up to 60 days to get things handled on claims, up to 40 days for parts, and then they say the part is not coming in.
They're horrible. They always seem to send out an appliance company that doesn't do a certain brand, a certain service or something needs to be replaced then Choice offers you $100. I have high-end appliances and they cost me $1,600. Choice sent me a check for 300, and I was done. I couldn’t stand them anymore and I cancelled. I thought I would try American Home Shield and see if it worked. If it did, then I was going to get it for the other three houses. I switched to American Home Shield in January and this was a great experience.
I made my first claim with the microwave and it was amazingly so easy, I was shocked. When you go online, you click the buttons, pay with your credit card, and you're done. The vendor scheduled an appointment and showed up. Because of the coronavirus, they had to make sure we didn't have a house full of people and it was fine because we didn’t at that time. The guy fixed the problem right away, and that was great. He was in and out and there was no ** crap. I was very impressed. We went and found a tiny microwave that would hold a bag of popcorn, and we used that for a couple of days until this got fixed. Now, it works and I'm really happy.

There is always what they can and can't do, but I understand that. Some stuff that they didn't fix, but I understand why. And overall, they fixed everything that I really needed to be done. I have three units and pretty much everything breaks down at the same time. I learned how to do it all at once and usually call in. I only have to make one copay instead of a copay for each different apartment or each different order. When my furnaces both had issues at around the same time, I was able to make one copay and the contractor looked at both of the furnaces.

This is our second year with AHS. We had a different service then and we weren’t happy with them. We had Choice Home Warranty. And every time, I don’t know if it was because we lived in Nacogdoches at the time, but they could never find a technician. I would have to go find my own technicians. They never wanted to replace anything. Everything was, “No, we can’t do anything with that.” So, it’s been really nice with AHS. Every time we call, they come and either fix it or take care of the issue. I also use the online on the web portal and it works very well.
With our recent claim with AHS, the contractors had to come out five times before they finally just decided to replace the unit. It went okay, but they just sent a different technician every time. So, it was like restarting over every time a different technician would show up. And after I explain to them what happened, they had to read the notes. And every one of them had a different opinion. The first one said that he didn’t think it was fixable, then the second one said he could fix it. The third one said he could fix it, and then by the time the fifth one came, they were like, “We’ve replaced everything we can.” But our experience with AHS was very good. When they decided to just replace our dishwasher, we really liked how they sent us a webpage that we can pick these or these.

When filing claims with American Home Shield, you pick up the phone and call them. It would have been nice to be able to pay them when the contractors get here or after the work has been done but you have to pay ahead of time. Sometimes that can be challenging for me like so many Americans who have been laid off. But at this point, when you think about what it costs to do home repairs, it’s probably right in line with what’s expected in the market. So, it is what it is. When the downstairs AC was not working, the temperature was higher than what I set the thermostat for. I lowered the temperature to see if maybe it was just a glitch or something, but it kept doing that. It wasn't cooling. I didn't want the unit to freeze trying to overwork itself, so I raised the temperature. Usually, I have it set at 74 at the lowest and I raised it higher so it wouldn't work too hard. Then, I made the upstairs thermostat a little bit lower so it would cool a bit more. By that afternoon, the upstairs unit had stopped working. I left the fan running but I turned off the unit because I didn't want anything bad to happen. I was told I could turn it on but when I turned it on at night, the outside unit was like it was trying to connect something but it wasn't happening.
I called Home Shield and when Air Majesty came to service the unit, they found out the upstairs unit had stopped working because the breaker switch flipped. The tech, Jose, said somebody must have flipped it or shut it off. I said nobody went out there to the garage and I would have never thought that that was why the upstairs stopped working. But it wasn't a big deal, it was just putting the electrical switch back on. For the downstairs unit, they told me they needed a part and the part had to be ordered. Jose was great and he explained everything to me. But all he told me was that a part needed to be replaced and didn't say anything about anything else.
When I called American Home Shield to find out about the part the Saturday before, they said they ordered it Saturday and it should be three to five days. This week, Monday, I called again and told them I haven't heard from the air conditioning people. It had been over a week that the part was ordered. Also, when the person from American Home Shield called me back, they said I'm gonna have an out-of-pocket of over $1,000. I don't know why they were charging so much, so I inquired about it and the person from American Home Shield really couldn't explain it to me. They said I'm gonna have to speak to the contractor about it.
I called the air conditioner people and I couldn't get Jose. I wanted to speak to him because he didn't tell me about all this extra stuff that ad to be done. They told me he wasn't available and that he was not at work because he had a blow-out. They gave me this person Mike and I asked him to explain to him about the different things that had to be done. And I was concerned about this $200 permit. I've had homes in many different places and I've never been charged for a permit for anything, so I questioned them about it. The guy checked it and he said I was right. They don't need a permit to change that outside part and drain the line. I don't ever recall the line being drained when they replace parts but they said they need to drain the line when they change the part and it takes up to 13 pounds. But they agreed that the permit wasn't necessary, so they said they're gonna take off the permit.
Then, they said I needed to get a locking cap. It was a code upgrade. I looked online about this locking cap and I couldn't find anywhere whether it was a code upgrade or not, but I saw that they put these locking caps because other people try to inhale this Freon. This locking cap is to prevent people from getting into the Freon. When I looked online, the locking cap wasn't that expensive, but I guess they charge more for the labor than the part. I also looked up the foam part that goes on the tubing and a box of it was the price that they were charging me. I didn't understand because the foam part that's on the tubing is there. They said it's a code upgrade that they require a thicker one. When did this change? Whenever anybody comes out, they never told me that it needed an upgrade.
I'm depending on American Home Shield, since they're sending me the contractor, to be able to answer some of my questions as far as what code it is. If they tell me what code it is in this state that's required, I'd be more comfortable and I’d just move forward. I had a technician that knew about air conditioning from American Home Shield speak to me, but the other representatives that I've spoken to were not technical people, so they really weren't able to give me any guidance other than when I looked online. If they can just have someone that can give me a little more guidance of what the contractor is charging separately. I would like some information if that really necessary. American Home Shield has this contract and they're supposed to know what is applicable and what is not.
We do apologize for the a/c issue and we will look into this matter. We understand the hassle of being without your air conditioner and we would love to speak with you regarding this. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The warranty was a included when I bought the house. And then I’ve used the service several times since then and liked it, that’s why I kept it. The microwave door needed to be repaired. It was broken. The dishwasher was smelling and the washing machine wouldn’t turn on. I submitted two requests through the website- one for my garage door and then one for the other stuff. By the next day or even later that day, both companies have reached out to me saying that they got the request. The garage people came out that week. When I spoke to National Platinum, they asked me some questions and I gave them the part numbers and stuff that they needed. And they said they had to order stuff and then they would get back to me to reschedule.
The washing machine, I’ve had to use a ton. I got a little backed up. The dishwasher seems to be doing great. No smell. The door for the microwave seems to be off a little bit when I close it, but that might be something that I could just tinker with myself and get back. But what National Platinum came out to fix was fixed. Just that it got a little tweaked during that process, but it’s not broken. It’s just when you close it, it doesn’t quite fit right. You have to adjust it. They did a really good job. The guy was very thorough and explained everything to me.

This company has caused me nothing short of complete havoc, stress, inconvenience, & a complete time wasted in vain. Please buyers beware.. These people have no morals, integrity, or accountability, even contractors are unsatisfied with them. Took them approximately 3 weeks to get a simple service call accurate to have my electrical problem fixed, wanted the contractor to actual witness my circuit breaker tripped before approving replacing the breakers, after they authorize them to come out to replace them.
Now they're refusing to reimbursed me after I was told to pay for a sump pump and gave me a special email address (that I couldn't obtain myself) to submit my invoice to and then denied it after I explain, "I don't have time for you to attempt to get it correct in obtaining a plumber to come out tomorrow or the next day or week 'cause water is flooding my basement constantly presently, and my insurance agent advised if I don't fix it all my damage property will not be covered." After the Philippian lady told me to do just that & submit my invoice she didn't document it and they denied it. Go with Home Choice Warranty, as my friend has- she never has any problems whatsoever and they sometimes come out the same day if it's urgent. This company is deplorable and I will be seeking damages by way of a lawsuit.
Choice Home Warranty will get my business as soon as my contract which is paid for a entire year is over 'cause it's nothing but a headache and they are so contradictory and there's no accountability for their inconsistencies and lack of knowledge. I don't believe there are trained to do their jobs accordingly. Buyer beware. You've been warned. Don't endure what I had to endure especially during this most difficult time. We are all experiencing-trying to stay healthy and stress out from dealing with AHS.
We do apologize for the inconvenience. We know that that this can be a hassle. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further in this matter.

Updated on 04/15/2020: To add to this. This is the 3rd or 4th time that we've used our American Home Shield warranty for our rental property and each time we have been very happy to have experienced/knowledgable technicians assigned to our case! I would highly recommend American Home Shield to anyone who owns a home and is looking for some peace of mind that they won't be hit with an unexpected expense due to appliances breaking down.
Original Review: The air conditioner was not working on one of the rooms. The duct was disconnected. I submitted a claim with Home Shield online. Blizzard Air got out there and took care of it, and they did a little extra by making sure that the vents were clean and stuff like that. The technician was on time. Everything was good.

They sent out a very professional guy for my AC unit. He was knowledgeable and clean. I have a switch in my AC unit that turns the unit off in the event that something gets clogged. So he cleaned it out and did a couple of other adjustments, and we were done. That was it. In bad weather or bad times, we have to worry about who’s available. It did take them a couple of days to get someone out, but luckily it didn’t happen in the middle of the summer. But AHS is on the same constraints everyone else is. So for 75 bucks for a visit, I can’t complain at all. But I didn’t really care for the person that worked on my refrigerator. It’s kinda messed up, but it’s workable for me. But for the AC unit, everything was top-notch.

Having filed a claim for a heating issue, American Home Shield sent out Seabreez and the tech who came said it was a ducting problem. I was charged 75 bucks but it wasn't a ducting issue. I had to send for my technician and I ended up paying him 100 bucks. I had him do an analysis and he said it was a sensor issue. AHS then sent a different company, Sun Power Solutions. They were good and professional people. They fixed the problem and everything is working okay so far.
American Home Shield should not use Seabreez because that’s like the third time I had a problem with the same company. They just don’t want to work. They're trying to get the deductible and get away from there. The deductible I paid should go for the repair. And because I sent my technician to analyze the problem, they should return my deductible.

I bought my house and the previous owner gave me the Home Shield insurance. It expired this month and I renewed it last week. When my thermostat from inside the house was blank and there was no number, I decided to call my home warranty company. I did their automated prompts then they got me somebody live. I can also do my claim on the Home Shield website but I wanted to get somebody live because I wanted to explain what really was happening to my AC. I can also do that online though.
I was told the contractor, Total Air Care, would be out between this hour and this hour and they were on time. They were really nice and we were given really excellent service. The tech told me stuff that I needed to do in order to keep the unit running and for the problem not to happen again. He gave me some advice on what to do like if I do something properly, I wouldn't have to call up the office unless something bad happened. The unit has been working really well and I followed the recommendation that he gave me.

Holiday Business Group came out for two service calls. The contractor saw what was wrong and went back. However, because of the virus, it took a little longer to get the part. But Robert called me when it came in. He came when he said he would and got it fixed. There was also a washer. When he came back, he said I had to get the dryer off. I had to take the dryer off myself, which was kinda hard because I was here with my kids, but we managed it. I had to disconnect the dryer and figure out how to get it off of the washer. It would have been nice for him to have the option to have a helper that could have done that so I wouldn’t have been nervous about it. But he made sure that I knew how to hook it up properly, which was very nice.
I have a vacation home that’s also on the AHS. There were about three things- a dishwasher, a stove fan, and an icemaker- that I needed to be fixed there. However, AHS does not have anyone in the area for all three of those. I have to be there, find my own person, have that person call and get approved to have things fixed. I don't know if that’s gonna be worth it for me to have the AHS at the vacation home.

And they’re spot-on on that part. When the pool motor died, I contacted AHS and they hooked me up with the pool person. At the end of it, the contractor called me and said, “Before I come out, can you tell me what the motor size is? So that way, if I need to replace it, I have the part on hand.” I provided the information. He came out on time and was very professional. He did social distancing and didn’t come in the house. He walked around the back, looked at the pool motor, said, “Yup,” replaced it, and cleaned up his mess. It was a very good service.

I've had American Home Shield forever. I had them when I was in California also. Sometimes, when an offbeat person comes to my home who has been assigned by AHS, they’ll come in, walk and take a look at the furnace out here, or the refrigerator over there, and they'll tell you what’s wrong or that it isn’t what’s wrong or it’s my fault. They’re not here 15 minutes and they leave. But this guy was here forever and he was so nice. I have never had a gentleman come to my home and spend as much time working on my furnace so thoroughly that it actually works now.
I am so grateful that AHS sent Lam-Air instead of some offbeat brand of person to come to my house. I was appreciative of that. If AHS stays with Lam-Air as far as my heating service goes, they’ll do great. They’re wonderful people. Quite a while ago, AHS sent a man named Bill to work on my dishwasher and he too was one of those fantastic men that stay until the job is completely done and the product actually works.

I had Service America before then I went with American Home Shield three years ago and prior to my last experience, I would highly recommend it. The pool people did their job, finished it and the equipment is working. That’s where I want to be, but even though my pool claim has been resolved, I'm seriously concerned about my other claim because the guy said it's dangerous to use my oven. I can't use my oven at all. He took it apart, said he's going to get the part, and they haven’t contacted me back.
I know there's a lot going in the world, so I get it. I've been trying to be patient as well, but I don't know what's going on and it has been in limbo. I've also had my hood range serviced three times, and it keeps blowing bulbs within a week. The electrician came out and said it's not an electrician job, that it needs to be replaced. The appliance guy said that he was the one that had the electrician come out, but then the electrician denied him, and I have both the paperwork for it. Again, I haven’t heard anything back from anyone. One time, I opened the door to my refrigerator and all of a sudden, it fell to one side. Now, the door doesn’t close all the way and supposedly, American Home Shield denied that claim.
I've reached out to the companies. They say it's pending on American Home Shield's end. I reached out to them and I was on the phone for two hours with the young lady. She said she's going to have to talk to the claims department and she’d get back to me. She left me a message last Friday and said that she was still working with the department, but I haven’t heard anything back since. Nobody has called or followed back up with me and it has been going on for three weeks now.

We had a leak. There’s a small shower in our guestroom and when the shower was on, the hot water part was leaking. But our house is a 110-year-old Craftsman home and the walls are plaster walls, so it made it a little bit more challenging in terms of fixing it. So, the plumbing was all fine. I was a little disappointed that we ended up having to pay, with the repair of what we had to do, a little over $1,100 for it.
At first, I was told everything was gonna be covered. But then on the second part of the job, there was another leak. I had to pay $1,100 out of pocket between the plumber and the repair of the plaster that had to be repaired from what we had to cut out for him to have access to the problem. And the only negative thing was that we were first told everything was gonna be covered, only to find out halfway through the job, we were told that part of it wouldn’t be covered. So, that was traumatizing and was really unexpected. And thank God, we had the money because we already had giant holes on our walls by the time they said that. We had to reschedule them to come back to finish the job because we didn’t have the money when they told us and we had to wait till payday, for them to come back out.
The other thing that was not a good experience was when we had a problem with the air conditioning and the first company AHS gave the contract to called within an hour of that but then never showed up, never answered the phone, never returned the call to say, “I can’t do you,” nothing. I waited two days and then I left a message for him.
Then I called AHS and I went through the whole thing. I verified my phone number and my email. She put me on hold to check with the supervisor to see if they can change providers. We got disconnected. She never called me back. So then, I called the next day. I spoke with another lady who gave me her name and her ID number, said she was gonna take care of it. I never heard back from her. I called back again, spoke with another man and he told me he was gonna take care of it. Never heard back again.
So, the fourth time I called AHS to ask, “What do I do? I have openings underneath where the air conditioner ducts connect to the registers was leaking.” And I was sitting there having pictures of things crawling inside my house because the ductwork is open and it was freaking me out. It was Monday morning the last time I called. And I was aggravated by that time and I said, “You’re the fifth person I’ve talked to that’s telling me, swearing up and down, they’re gonna take care of it, and I just want to know if somebody’s going to call me back or if this is gonna be taken care of.”
And then finally, that time, I got a text within the hour that somebody was gonna call me. The company that they referred it to called and I got it scheduled for two days later. They came out and he handled the problem. It wasn’t a big deal, he just added tape around the thing. But that was not a good experience. And the three years we’ve had AHS, we’ve always had a very good experience until the air conditioning thing.

I like to have a home warranty because I have a fixed service call. When I know that I am covered, I have more control over my expenses. Another thing I like is that I don't have to choose the vendor. I expect that the person that the home warranty company sends to my home is already a good vendor because it is highly rated by the company. It's much easier for me. I only need to make one call and I am done. I don't need to be dealing with multiple vendors and trying to make the choice of who is going to be doing my repair every time something different breaks. Those are the two things that I value the most. When I had a plumbing issue and made a claim with Home Shield, that was okay. They sent out MacLin Plumbing for that. The concern I have though is that I had to call three times for the same service until they fixed it right. But I didn't have any out of pocket more than the service fee which was what I expected.

But, he was not a low voltage electrician, and I told them what he said and I asked for a low voltage electrician who was familiar with handling thermostats between the inside unit and the outside unit. The air conditioning technician fixed it, but it is still not protected. He said, "I wanted to put it in a conduit. Then seal up the whole in the foundation where the wire runs through," but he was not prepared to do that. American Home Shield should screen whoever they are going to send out. But any time there's something that’s a little bit more expensive like electrical panel needs to be replaced, then they find a way to decline it. They should honor the full fixing of the issue rather than just patching or declining anything of substance that needs to be repaired.

AHS is a good company and they're the best company of all the warranty companies. I've looked into the other competitors' warranty company and they may be a little cheaper but they don't have the 100% coverage that AHS offers. I may pay a couple more dollars but I'm paying for quality service. I have had my appliances broken down and they have repaired a lot of them.
I wish though that they start monitoring the companies that are coming in to work for them ‘cause a lot of them are no good. There are previous complaints about their performance or their job. In effect, it makes Home Shield look bad because they're sending out these people. I had a problem with the refrigerator cooling off and I lived out of ice chest for three weeks. That shouldn’t have happened. Home Shield had someone check it but I was not pleased. It took them three weeks to even attempt to fix my refrigerator.
I got mad with AHS. I asked why they were sending these people and they said they go by my zip code. I told them the techs that are out of Walker or Denham Springs get the job done right on the first time. That's when they sent National Platinum to me. The guy took his time and he looked at everything. The initial call had nothing to do with the ice maker but he also attempted to fix it. He had notified AHS that the part is not replaceable. Whatever the other contractor did, they messed up the ice maker. It took two attempts from the same company to try to fix the refrigerator in the first place.
The guy was very nice and professional. He had his mask and his gloves on and I was not offended. He was very quiet and got the job done. In the end, he made sure that I was satisfied with the decision AHS made about the ice maker. They're gonna replace my refrigerator because of the problem I had with the previous guys they've sent out. If I had another appliance broken, I'd rather it's from National Platinum to come out. They took care of me and I had been a very pleased customer. I work for a casino and people always ask me out in the broad if I know a good warranty company. I recommend AHS and I tell them they can look at other companies but they have to look at what Home Shield offers.

The only thing that I have a major problem with American Home Shield is if the provider comes out two or three times for the same problem, they should try to reconcile and do something different. The contractor came out for my toilet about three or four times for the same issue with my toilet and I just need a new toilet. AHS just don't wanna give me one and toilets only cost $100. They like to patch things up. Also, I had a guy that just recently came out for my garage door. It's the wiring. Some of the metal parts on the door kinda got loose and they will eventually jump out. But that was not covered. I don't get it. I don't know why they will not cover a garage door.
But for the most part, they've done pretty good work with their service providers. Recently SWAT Plumbing came out. The shower heater was leaking and the bathtub faucet was leaking. I also thought I had a problem with my kitchen sink but it didn't happen while the tech was there. I had no problems with him. He took care of everything quickly and everything was fixed. It's good to have a warranty.

Crispy Air & Heating came out for a heating issue and they were quite efficient. They found the source of the issue right away, fixed it and left. They were great. They needed to fill the Freon in the air conditioner portion of the heat pump. And then we found a wire that had disconnected from the air handler, and they found that and reconnected it. So, that fixed everything related to the heater and the air conditioner portion of the heat pump.
I submitted a claim for a different issue. It was for a water heater. If it’s standard practice to do something when you install a water heater, but it’s considered something that they need to do extra by American Home Shield, they will make you pay for it. And they’ve trained the contractors to call it a certain thing in their estimate so that you end up paying for it separately from your $100.
I had the water heater leak. It was 15 years and it caused a bunch of problems in the house, which the home insurance took care of. But it did not have a pan underneath it, which is code. And we had purchased the house a few years ago, so we weren’t there when it was built. And also, there was something with the connection to the wires. And it was the same wires they were going to connect to, but they said that they had to redo them to ensure that they would connect properly, which is ridiculous ‘cause it was the same water heater. So, it really bothered me that I had to pay $400 to the contractor to do this work when it’s standard practice.

I appreciate American Home Shield. I've been with them since 2007 and every time I needed help, they were right there for me. I didn't have to wait a long time to get someone to come out. It makes a great difference when you're able to reach out to someone that you've been paying and they reach back out to you in the time of need. Everything went well with our most recent claim. The tech from K&W Heating and Air was very knowledgeable and he explained everything so that I could understand it.
Janie,
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Please do continue to recommend us. Take Care.

The first company that came out for my plumbing claim said that it couldn't be done. But when Bestway came, they solved it. I was satisfied with the guy that came. He was quick, efficient and honest. He was great. Overall, Home Shield is okay. But there are some stuff that are misleading. Like when I called today and asked about certain stuff on my plan, the rep told me I had Terminix and then when I asked about it, she wasn’t aware. So they need some more customer reps that are aware of the product that they are selling.

A buddy of mine had a really good experience with American Home Shield. I went with them and so far I've had three different contracts for three different homes. So far, I've had fantastic luck with my main home in Loveland, Colorado. There, I had four things fixed including my claim last week for my furnace. AHS had people out relatively quickly and their contractor did my furnace. They also paid for 2/3s of it. Prior to that, they've also fixed my microwave, dishwasher and instant hot water heater.
However, I had a not so great experience with them in my condo in Steamboat. I needed somebody to come out for electrical and they could not find anyone. To be fair to them though, I called eight electricians too and only one or two called me back. It's difficult to find someone in that community. So, I dropped my contract for that condo. Still, I'm thrilled with my contract for my main home. My dad has also started a contract with AHS.

My wife had sent an email to American Home Shield for our AC that wasn’t working properly. A guy from AAA All Appliance came early in the morning the next day. We’ve had AHS for years, and I had difficulty one time on my claim on my drive door opener. I ran into problems with the company that was coming out and working on it. They said they had to come back. It was not a good experience. I finally had to stop with them, and I had to get somebody else to come and fix it. AHS tried to charge me, and I said, “No way. I pay once, that’s it. And you’re supposed to fix it.” Finally, that was what they did.
Also some of the times, it takes a while before a contractor gets here. But this last time, we called and the guy called and said he’d be here the next morning. He was right on time and he was very good. What I don’t like too is somebody says they’ll be here between 8:00 and 1:00, and they show up at 3:00. Everything seems to be fine lately though.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for many years and I’ve always gotten good service whenever we requested it. I got the home warranty to cover my appliances in case something goes wrong and the main thing I like is if it’s something that they can’t fix, they replace it.

The technician did a great job and he was professional. He came right in, got right to work, figured out what was wrong and got the parts ordered. He said he was gonna come back and he said he would come back at such and such a time. He called me right at that time and said he was gonna be a little bit late because he was running late from a previous job. So, other than that, everything went well. The claim was all taken care of and it went smoothly. I've had American Home Shield for three different houses in the last three years. I've had issues and they helped me with them. It worked out well and they were easy to work with.
