    I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. They sent out Precision Door Service and I would use them for anything. The issue I was having was something to do with the garage door motor.     My landlady passed on the information about American Home Shield. If I have an issue with the house, I just call them and pay the $75 service call. When there was an outside faucet that would not shut off, I submitted the claim to AHS and they told me about the plumber from Sirius Plumbing. They came out within a day or two. They're pretty prompt. Their plumber is great and the faucet doesn’t run anymore.

    Our hot water tank was leaking and we had a flood in our basement where it's held. American Home Shield told me to expect the contractor within three days, which concerned me because we had to turn the water off to the house. So, I made a call to follow up why they couldn't guarantee a time. They said we should at least have a callback within 24 hours. We got the callback and then, the contractor came out that day and replaced it. They were very professional and pleasant to talk to. We were halted until it got repaired, so it was excellent once it was done.

    Signed up with them in January. My thermostat is broken and the ability to log in to their website not possible. When I called, the person who answered the call could hardly speak English and kept asking me the most ridiculous questions... "how many thermostats do you have"?.. "Where is it located?" At any rate, I hung up out of frustration and will call a private HVAC company. Maybe canceling my contract.. Remember, you get what you pay for.

    I recommend American Home Shield to everyone. I've been with them for 15 years and I like that I'm not nickel-and-dimed to death and that an expert will go out and fix an issue. I'm the owner of a rental property and I'm not there. It’s easier for my renters to call them. The rental company will then make the claim. There have been no complaints so far. For one claim, B T Electric was sent out and that claim came out great.

    When I got the policy from Home Shield, I asked them to cover extra things like my swimming pool pump, irrigation pump, septic tank pump, and my well pump. When I called up about my irrigation pump, the girl said I was covered. They sent somebody out to fix it and saw that the pump was split in half. Then I found that I was not covered so I had to pay that myself for $675. Plus, they charged me $100 for coming out too. I had another claim where my garage door wouldn’t open. That broke, and I thought it was the garage door opener, but it was a big spring that had busted on the top of the garage. That wasn’t covered as well. I also had an air conditioning one fixed and it was the filter had clogged up into the mechanism. That wasn’t covered too so I had to pay $320 for that. But the reps were very nice and they normally get someone to call me within 24 hours.

    Everything shouldn't have happened the way it did. I had to put out at least $1,500 on extra expenses that I wouldn't have had to pay if the water heater had been replaced when it should have been. I hope that there would be a change in the consciousness of the water heater replacement before it breaks because now my floors are different.

    I told AHS that it was an old water heater and that I didn't want it to break. I asked, "Shouldn't we do something before it breaks?" The response I got was, "It has to break before we can do anything." I was disappointed. Somebody said that they have a form that they could fill out which might help with replacing the water heater. I'm not exactly sure what "might help with" means. They'd probably look at how old the water heater is and some other qualifications in order to decide if there needs to have a new water heater.

    AHS has lived up to what they said they were gonna do. They paid for the water heater, but I was so overcharged by the contractor for the straps and stuff at $875, which was totally outrageous. Also, with all the subcontractors and what was done, about $5,000 was spent, which didn't have to be spent at all. About 1,200 would have been it just to put in the water heater in. From my perspective, there was a lot of wasted money.

    My mom had me call in the claim for the refrigerator. There was this leak right under the freezer side of the refrigerator and the tech from Sears cleaned it up. He said it was fixed and we haven't had any more leaks. Everything works just fine.

    I recommend them to everybody I know. My daughter has it. I have a lot of real estate agents that are constantly calling me and asking about my home warranty company. I have four houses and we have them at every house. I really believe in their company. They send quality people and get the job done and they’ll keep working on it till they do. 99% of the time, I do the claims online. It’s faster because I can just click, click, click and it’s done then they’d give me a call or email me depending upon which company is sending the information. They get people out right away, especially if there’s something urgent. Usually it’s the same group of people that come. They connect with one plumber or electrician in the region and that person consistently comes to my house, so they’re familiar with what’s going on, which is good.

    The door of my appliance would not close. It was causing things to freeze up inside. I submitted a claim to AHS and Amtech Services came out to do service. The tech had to adjust and make the door that was off track fit. That saved everything.     I called AHS in January for a washer claim and Buster’s Appliance Repair had come out twice. But they’re due to come out again because my washer is still not draining. It was working well for three weeks and then by the fourth week, I noticed that it wasn't draining all the water. I tried it again and run the second cycle just to drain it. This time, it left a lot of water. So I called American Home Shield and they opened the case again in the system. That was on a Sunday and the lady that I spoke with said that she would send a request for the company to come back. When I didn't get anybody on Monday, I called Buster's that Tuesday and the gentleman that answered the phone told me that they were closed till April because of the flu virus. So, they declined the order.

    I called American Home Shield again and they said they would decline because of the flu thing. So, they were gonna have me pay again to get a different company to come out. Then I asked them why I had to pay again. Then they went ahead and agreed. American Home Shield will just send me someone out, and I won’t have to pay a second time for the same problem. The lady was very helpful in getting the right persons to pay them instead. She was outstanding and she went way above and beyond to take care of it. American Home Shield sends people out right away and I’m glad I have it. It saved me a lot of money by doing that.

    I had claims for my furnace, one in November of '19 and one just happened. The furnace was on but nothing was clicking to keep it on, and I noticed that by waking up in the morning and it was pretty cold. The first thing I did was go and turn the heat up a little bit and I noticed that the thermostat said 60-something. But I had set it at 72 so for it to be 60 anything, I knew something was wrong. I went downstairs and looked at the furnace then I turned it off and on by the switch on the thermostat. I could hear it getting ready to start but then that was it. It never ignited or do anything else.

    I always do all claims with American Home Shield over the phone. I call the number and it starts me off with an automated prompt. Then I end up speaking to a representative and I can go from there. On this last claim, I had to notate that I had no heat at all and since I'm in Chicago, Illinois, it gets really cold when it gets to a certain temperature. So thinking of waking up early in the morning and not having heat in my home, I wanted to make sure that they try to expedite that.

    The first time I called about my furnace, American Home Shield had me set up with someone that never even responded. It was also ridiculously colder in November than it was this last time and I had to wait and wait then call back multiple times. So I made sure that when I called this time and it was in reference to my heater, that they did not send that particular company out to me again. The same company came out both times and they were great. The smallest part had to be replaced and now, there's not a problem with the furnace anymore.

    The air conditioner was blowing room temperature air and it wouldn’t cool down. When the contractor came out the first time, they discovered that the breaker had flipped which powers the outside unit. The second time they came out, I checked the breaker myself and it was on. There was some drainage pan that was backed up and because of that, the unit would not communicate to the outside condenser to turn on. They cleared that drainage line and told my wife that if she just keeps an eye on that drain line and that if it backs up for some reason again, she could clear it and it should be fine. Since the contractor came out, it has been working okay.

    A contractor also came out for the toilet. It was an easy fix but they haven’t come back out to fix it because they had to order a part. They needed to replace the whole handle and chain with one that fits better so it won’t break. It was an excellent experience with AHS. They were quick to answer my call as well as make an appointment and the people came when they said they were coming. They worked fast so that the system works well.

    AHS recently sent Clutch Appliance Repair and it has been great because of the promptness of the repair. The contractor didn’t just fix the problem, he checked the unit out to let me know what stage or condition it was in. He said the other motor and everything was performing at its maximum capacity, and the unit was running good. That’s very unusual for a technician. A lot of them would just fix what was on the work order.

    The other experience is they were supposed to fix my refrigerator icemaker. The work order was open. The work order lasted four months. Then when the contractor finally got the part in, I had sold the house and moved from that area. And this was during the time that they got the part one day and the scheduled it two days later which I told them I did move. I’m still in Houston, but I was north and the technician couldn’t come all the way to North Houston to fix the icemaker. So the icemaker didn't get to be fixed. They even kept my copay. It was like paying for something you didn’t get. No one wants to do that. That was strike number one. Before it took them nine months to fix a dishwasher. Every time they came with a technician they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. Eventually they replaced. I dropped AHS for a year. But since I had enjoyed the service they gave me and have a lot of faith I went back to them.

    I had a shower that wouldn’t stop letting the water out. Even when we turned the water off, there was still water coming out. I called in the middle of the night, Friday, and AHS took the order in and the techs came Saturday morning, so I was very pleased. When I first called them in the morning, they said it was going be after 3 o’clock, but they got a guy to come early. I love Sigmond Plumbing.

    However I’m not happy with AHS. They're expensive, and when I google them, they have F star rating. One time, I had a problem with my dryer. The guy came out. It took around four different times over a month period before I could even use my dryer. Some things are not covered like the springs if my garage door breaks. That was the last thing that happened that made me very unhappy with them. They charged me for the guy that came out about the garage door opener, even though they didn't cover the service. I had to pay the company that came out $250 for fixing the springs in the garage door. I also still had to pay the $75 to American Home Shield, which is ridiculous because it wasn’t covered. Right now while I have no job and I’m cutting a lot of things, I’ll probably cut American Home Shield because I can’t afford it.

    I love being able to make the service call to American Home Shield. The customer service folks are excellent and they work with you. They get the vendors on the line immediately. The service is great and the prices are fair. I’d rather pay $75 to get a brand-new washer after several times it wasn’t able to be fixed so, I’m getting my money’s worth. But AHS should have the vendors be more prepared. They do the work but it’s just a little extra effort. When the plumber had to cut a hole in the ceiling, AHS sent out the contractor, who just put mud on the sheet rock. You have to get another vendor or pay for somebody to paint the wall or the ceiling.

    When my washing machine went out and it was full of water, I was told the first time that the vendor wouldn’t be able to come for a week and then, he said he couldn’t come for probably till the end of the month. I couldn’t be without my washer for a month so, AHS had to find another vendor. This particular vendor came out unprepared and he told me that he had to move the washing machine because it was in a drain pan and he didn’t have help. He wouldn’t be able to do the job. I literally had to lift it and when he realized that I would move it myself, he helped me. The contractors should understand the tickets that they receive and what the work involves.

    In my most recent claim, High Priority Plumbing and Services came out. The first time I called with the leak, the contractor said that the pipe was damp but they didn’t know where it was coming from. So, they didn’t do anything about it. This time, I called because my ceiling was cracking and it was the exact same leak. The contractor came and finally fixed it but they could’ve fixed it the first time.

    My son has American Home Shield and he recommended it since I've been with my house for five years. Little things started happening that I or my son could take care of but I thought it wouldn't hurt to have the house covered in case something big happens. The method to submit a claim was pretty user-friendly. I'm pretty computer literate so it wasn't hard for me at all. Once, my master bathroom toilet backed up into the shower and wouldn't clear. Accurate Plumbing Solutions couldn't get out that evening but they came the next morning. By that time, it had cleared but it was a mess in the shower. The technician was really nice about the whole thing though. He cleaned it up for me and I haven't had a problem since.

    One of the ins of the handle of the door of my microwave had come loose and it was located inside of the door where you could get to the one at the top, but the other one is inside the door. I gave AHS a call and the guy that did it the first time didn’t do it right. So, the second time, I was looking for some results. They sent out a tech from Pyk Appliance Repair, LLC and he had to re-fix it. This time, the gentleman was nice. He told me exactly what was wrong and what he would do. I liked the way he presented it and he was great at explaining what he was doing while he was doing it. He also told me how long the repair would take and it didn't take forever to do it. Then he cleaned up everything better than the other guy did and I thanked him for it. He did a great job and everything has been working well since the repair. Now, I have no more worries.

    We had a plug that was out and #1 R & R Electrical Allstar fixed it. We also had an experience yesterday that was a little weird because our AC went out and so we had to use our warranty again. They sent an AC company out here yesterday too, and we were not 100% sure that they were on the up and up. We called back the American Home Shield because the gentleman that came out told us that we would have a $1,400 bill to fix the part and then fill the refrigerant. And that was an out-of-pocket expense. Within 45 minutes, they had the manager here with the same company giving us a quote for $10,000 to $19,000 for a new unit. So, it was either $1,400 to fix it with the company that the warranty sent out, or buy a new unit.

    I called the warranty company back because they were saying we needed a new unit and were trying to upsell us significantly. We were not getting good information from the people that they sent out. This was the second time that this may have happened. I asked for s second opinion and AHS said that they didn't do that and that I would have to pay again. We then ended up calling someone ourselves and got the whole thing fixed for $360 yesterday.

    I have been with American Home Shield for 10 years, and their vendors vary but they always get the vendors to serve -- the vendors have been very good. Gaithersburg Plumbing, the last one that came in, was fine. They found the problem and they fixed it after several people that came by. I submit my claims online, which is easier. I can do it any day and any time. It is a 24-hour service. This home warranty company does a good job. I have used several vendors as well as several different warranties, and, right now, they are on my choice.

    Home Shield was first initiated when we bought the home. It came with the warranty, and that’s who it was through. They provided great service every time we had them send out somebody. We had some issues with our air conditioning unit years back and the contractor was out several times for that. They replaced the motors, the chips and circuit board, and everything else to try to keep it running. And then, they finally replaced the unit itself and haven’t had a problem since. I’ve also had my hot water heater, my dryer, and dishwasher with Home Shield. The contractor came out for my dishwasher a couple of times. However, there was nothing wrong with it other than it was clogged up. I didn’t realize that. I thought the pump wasn’t pumping the water out properly. Everything went well with that claim and for my clothes washer.

    I got another claim which I have to follow up. I’m leaking water out of the tank somewhere. I had the gentleman keep an eye on it as he filled up the tub and checked as to why my agitator wasn’t going through the cycle properly, and he said they didn’t notice any leaks. It looks like there are leaks coming from underneath of it, but that’s a separate claim from what I had before. The gentleman did an excellent job. He was very professional and very courteous. Home Shield is very reliable. I trust in them. They’ve come out and taken care of every issue that I’ve had and they stayed on top of it. Home Shield was always there so, I like them.

    I have 3 properties right now with American Home Shield coverage and I have put innumerable real estate transactions with them. I’ve been in real estate for 20 some years, and I probably have been involved with American Home Shield for 20 some years too. Their contractors are pretty good. I had a situation I was not happy with a number of years ago in a rental property, and if I had been more personally involved, it would have been resolved. It was the tenant and bad communication. He tends to tick everybody off and I didn’t realize ‘til after the fact.

    But for the most part, I’ve been happy with American Home Shield. If I haven’t been happy with a situation, it’s been resolved and I’ve appreciated that. I have had great relationships with their reps. I’m not sure what kind of service I would get from the company if I didn’t have that intermediary. I was very happy with Janet and right now Rick is amazing. I feel like I have an advocate and I like that. I like having somebody personal that I can count on. I’ve given friends of mine suggestions as they’ve talked about their homes. I’ve suggested that they work through my rep and use my name so that if there ever is an issue then I’ll know that they’ll have an advocate.

    All contractors of AHS have been great, except for one. They didn't wanna do the work. So, they passed it off as something different. I’m in Palm Springs. So, when it’s 120 out, not having AC for two days is not a good thing. So, there need to be enough affiliates to call upon to where there’s not a day or two-day wait.

    I called American Home Shield to have someone come out to unclog a plugged washing machine drain. they said I would have to pay $75, which I did, when their repairman showed up about 3 days later, he said that he doesn't do that and I would have to call a plumber. So I called a plumber and he resolved my problem, I had to pay him $125 out of my pocket. I then call American Home Shield and cancelled my contract with them. They said they would cancel it.

    I noticed 18 months later they were still taking money out of my checking account. I called my bank to have it stopped and I was able to get 3 months returned to me. However today, 3 months later I get a bill in the mail stating there is a late charge due for non payment. I was furious and wrote them a letter and mailed it back to them. I will not ever do business with them again and I will tell everyhone I know also not to do business with them. I think it is a sham and the company should be shut down. Also on the initial $75 I paid them, they hounded me for over a month once I got it taken off of my credit card. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

    AHS covered things that I wanted to have covered in the house like air conditioning and other appliances so I chose them. It seemed to cover most of the items within a reasonable cost. The first contractor we had was an outfit called AT Appliance. They were absolutely horrible. I’m pretty proficient mechanically and the appliance guy who came out was less proficient than I was. I was giving the individual the information needed so they could figure out the problem and thus take care of it immediately. He disagreed in regards to many of the different items that needed to be taken care of, which I found rather frustrating because of the fact that I had a pretty good understanding of what needed to be taken care of to fix the problem.

    They did multiple visits taking care of each repair instead of taking care of all of them in one or two visits. And they kept billing the insurance company for multiple visits. It was a huge inconvenience. Until it got to a point where I finally had enough. I said I won’t let this company come in and then, CAL-PRO came out. They did a fantastic job and were very professional. They took care of everything needed and gave some good advice on how to maintain it so I don’t have things break. I was blown away with their service. I've had great service and I would say their service was excellent. Everything worked out great.

    Then, I kept having other things break and I was unwilling to let any other company come into the house. Home Shield would almost always choose AT Appliance which was very frustrating. I would have to call Home Shield and tell them I wouldn't let AT Appliance come into my house. They would ask me if there was another one that I liked and I would tell them I like CAL-PRO. If this particular company was able to service them, I wanted just that company. As far as it goes, I’m not happy with American Home Shield.

    Also, we have a dishwasher that we had that needed to be taken care of and it still hasn’t been remedied to its fullest. It came down to electrical problems to the point of me having a concern that there’s potential for a fire hazard in the house and they were unwilling to expedite the claim or take care of us and be very upfront. This happened back in December and I was ready to get this thing fixed and even do it myself. It was pretty frustrating and that experience soured every other facet of it. I’ve only recently found out that they electronically sent a gift card to Home Depot for us to go get the appliance. But our state and my area are on lockdown, so I can’t go get that appliance. I still am dealing with the dishwasher issue.

    MSE Plumbing fixed my toilet. I know the technician. He has been serving my house for at least two years. He has been reliable and dependable. I like Home Shield, but I’m not liking it very much these days. For instance, this toilet thing, I live in Elk Grove but they always assign somebody 80 miles away from me instead of a local vendor. They assign somebody from Citrus Heights, which is about 80 miles from my city, while my city, we have this vendor, MSE Plumbing. We have other vendors. It takes a long time to drive 80 miles one way to come to fix my problem. Why doesn’t Home Shield just assign a local vendor for me? They don’t care. That aggravates me. Is it to save their company money or what? I have no idea.

    This is the second time that Home Shield assigned somebody in Citrus Heights, something called Budget Rooter, 80 miles away from me, and I didn’t like them at all. I waited until almost six something, the tech came, and then by the time he finished, it was eight something in the evening. It doesn’t make any business sense to me. Why is their staff careless?

    American Home Shield has been excellent. When I did a claim for my heating, they texted me within a day and sent the plumber the next day. MS Services came out and the guy checked my heater. It was making a loud clicking and popping sound and he fixed it. He replaced the thermostat. He was great. He had it set on 45, so every time it gets under 45 it kicks back on automatic, but I don’t have that much instruction on how to cut it down. I looked at the box he left here and there’s not that much instruction on that. Still, everything’s doing great.

    The Home Shield rep was very helpful. She told us when the contractor would give us a call to schedule a time. Our washer was leaking but it was determined that it wasn’t the washer itself. It was the drain. The first man that came out was a very nice young man, but he said that it wasn’t something that he could fix so he transferred the charge over to a plumber instead and I didn’t have to pay another deductible.     The contractor, Ace of Spades Garage Door, ended up replacing the entire motor of my garage door opener. We didn’t have anybody locally here, so they had to drive in from 150 miles away. They explained to me that normally, they would wait for a few cases so that they could make it worthwhile to do a repair. So, it took about a week but I was okay with it. Once the guy was here, it took him 30 minutes to replace and he was in and out. He did a perfect job and things have been going great.

    Our claim where J&L Plumbing came out went great. The chap looked at my waste disposal and he tried to fix it. Then, he told me what the problem was and he replaced it immediately -- he had a replacement in his van. He also told me how to maintain it and that I should let him know if I had any issues. It was done in about 15 minutes and it was perfect. I called him the “waste garbage whisperer” to my wife. I did the filing of this claim electronically and American Home Shield confirmed my request.     The first contractor that came in did his thing and inspected it. It was like we did something over there to break the stuff. Then the estimate was inaccurate so he didn't wanna fix it. He left like he was in a hurry and never came back. I called again for the next one. The guy came in, did the same thing, and looked around. I mentioned to him that I just came back from the Philippines and he said his wife just had surgery and she could barely see him because she doesn't wanna get infected.

    At that time, Coronavirus started kicking in. Then he came out, he called his office, then he said he'll be back in 10 minutes. After that 10 minutes, he knocked on the door and said he couldn't come in the house because I guess he was scared. I don't blame him, but he was just being paranoid. The third one did his thing and I was satisfied. Good job. The only thing was that somebody came in and American Home Shield they don't wanna pay anything. The second one estimated the same stuff and they said I gotta pay that deductible again.

    The dishwasher was leaking at the bottom. I got online and selected what I needed to select, then made an appointment. The only thing was that it didn’t give me an option to put what was wrong and this could be improved.     I've had American Home Shield since I bought my house and it's going on three years now. They send out some nice people and I've never had a problem.     American Home Shield is way better than other places. We heard about them from a buddy of mine and we talked to one of the ladies. She helped us and we signed up at the beginning of this year. The young man who came out was very professional and he knocked it out but there were supposed to be three jobs. My dryer is not drying right and he said that there was gonna be a third-party that he scheduled to clean the duct on our dryer. We haven’t heard anything so, we’re just chalking it up as a loss.     I went online and looked for different home things. Everything is getting old in my house and I don’t have a way to replace them immediately. I ended up with American Home Shield. But I was surprised because I read negative things about home warranties in general and one bad thing about American Home Shield. I questioned whether I bought a bad product. But I'm very grateful because AHS covered my claim 100%. That would have cost me several hundred dollars.

    My claim concerned the ignition of our gas furnace. WeatherWise was assigned to our case and that went very well. Just to come out is $100 then you have another whatever for the part, so it was a lot cheaper for me. Initially, I was gonna cancel my warranty because my mom just canceled hers. But I’d like to talk her into getting it back. She’s had the hot water heater go out and she’s had something go on with the furnace. My dad just passed away and I think she should have a warranty.

    AHS had a yearly cleanup and I engaged them to clean up my heating system. Because of that, the contractor realized that there was a crack in the furnace so it was leaking gas. They recommended that that should be changed. AHS authorized it and then the contractor changed it. It took about two weeks from the time we reported it because they had to order the new furnace. Every customer wants a prompt response. With AHS, when you jump online and make a request, you have somebody responding to you and engaging the technician to come and take a look at it.

    I bought my house in 2003 and the previous owner already had First American Home. I didn’t have that many claims with them over the period of 15 years, but they couldn’t fix my dishwasher. They kept saying somebody else fix it, and they couldn’t fix it. After going through that several times and they didn’t wanna fix it, I decided to leave them and come with American Shield. I switched some time in the middle of last year and for the timeframe that I've been with them, they’ve offered excellent service. They were able to provide a contractor to fix my claim. They put in that the claim was completed though.

    After I had tried the washer and the dishwasher again, I called and let them know that it wasn’t. They told me they were very sorry about that and they would get back in contact with the contractor to send them back out. The contractor couldn’t figure out what was broken with the washer and the dishwasher at first. They made four different calls to the house, but they finally figured it out and they took care of it. They did an awesome job. Also, they stayed in communication well. They offered great customer service and kept me updated. They let me know who was coming out and worked with me on the timeframe. So, I'd recommend them.

    When an appliance issue came about, the tech that showed up in our house was awesome. The main contact, though, is very slow to get back and somewhat sarcastic. The techs came out about three times and they haven't been able to figure out the problem. Today is Thursday and I haven't heard anything since Monday when they were here. So, communication is not good and I don't know if it's AHS or Fleming Appliance. I hope AHS has better contractors, but other than that, their reps are fine and submitting a claim is easy and very simple.

    My furnace wasn’t firing. It was cold at that time, so we needed the heat. I filed the claim the day before Lange came out. I didn’t hear anything from them but I knew it was them who would be coming out so I called them to see when they were going to come out. Whoever I talked to said they had just received the claim from the home warranty and that they would be out a bit later that day. It affected us very pleasantly because they were quick to find the problem and it was an easy fix. That was the third time that they’ve been out since I've owned the house.     We had a plumbing claim and everything went great. The tech was very polite and professional and he got the job done quickly. But we had some issues with Home Shield when it came to the repairs on our dryer. It took them over a week to find somebody and then it took another week before Sears had an opening to come out. When they came out, the dryer needed several parts for it. They had to order the parts and it took about a month for the parts to get in. Then one of them didn't get in so we were waiting on that.

    I kept calling Home Shield but the whole thing had to be reviewed and they had to put me on hold for 45 minutes each time, sometimes longer. They'd say they'd call the agency that was assigned to repair and find out what was going on. But I'd tell them that I already talked to the company a few days ago and I was still waiting on a part. Every day, I'd call because I was trying to get an answer and every time, I'd have to go through the same thing. They put me on hold, and go back through and just read the notes. I also asked several times for a supervisor but never could I get a supervisor to call me.

    After about two months of waiting, somebody from Home Shield finally said they could get a part ordered for me. So they did that and it was delivered within a few days. Then, we had to wait for Sears to have an opening to come out and put it together. Once they got out, they got it fixed. But it took three months and I was not happy 'cause I'm disabled and having to load all that stuff up and take it to the laundromat to wash and dry it. We stayed though because we already paid our year $607.

    The garbage disposal started leaking and it took one full day after I submitted a claim online for someone to come out. The technician from JED Mechanical was good. It was such an easy repair for him. He was professional, texted ahead, let me know that he was here, came in, replaced the garbage disposal, showed me that it was working, and he was gone in a very short period of time. Everything is great. I'm glad that we've had American Home Shield now that we've had to use it. Looking down the road, it's something we'll keep for at least a few years. So, we've had a chance to repair and really replace and update a lot of things. I have lot of long term plans for doing some refitting of the house.

    I am tired of AHS, I have been with them for about 5 years and I have only called them 2 times. And the first time 4 months ago because of my stove and not the contractor did not complete the work, last Wednesday I called them for my washing machine, the contractor came to my house and said that they are going to order the parts and it takes 2-3 days, And today I call the contractor company and they tell me that they do not know when the part that may take more than 15 days or up to 3 months will arrive, now I call AHS and the answer is that we have to wait ... this really does not work anymore. I got tired of so many lies ... if my washing machine really doesn't work? So why not replace it? What if my stove doesn't really work because they don't replace it? They don't want to because I have very expensive appliances and it would cost them a lot more money.

    Do not waste your money with them, the high service fee and poor coverage makes your insurance worthless. Last year my AC was down, they charged 125 bucks service fee and only 10 buck off the refrigerant, and it worked for only five months, and I called back, they told me the warranty to the repair was only good for two months, so I would need to pay another 125 bucks to have someone come over again and figure out what was wrong, I was so mad that I canceled the plan right after. I will NEVER go back to AHS again and suggest anyone who is considering using it gives it another thought.

    AHS dispatched a plumber to this party's residence on this date to diagnose a stoppage which resulted in a broken main sewer line under the slab. The plumber wrote on the invoice provided the cause of damage was "ground movement" which is covered under the policy. However, an AHS Authorizations agent by the name of Kim soon contacted me by phone stating that the sewer line repair would not be covered, as the plumber had advised her the issue was caused by "infiltrated roots".

    There is no mention of infiltration of roots or debris mentioned anywhere on the written invoice. Therefore, AHS is denying this party's claim at this time. This party and other residents are quarantined at this time in the southeast Houston area due to the Coronavirus. Yet, AHS is refusing to finish the job on an Emergency repair with backup sewage. If AHS does not take immediate action, this party stands ready to schedule an arbitration hearing with legal counsel present for negligence, breach of contract, and bad faith claims handling and customer service.     This is regarding the home of my 92-year old mother, whose heating and cooling unit quit working seven (7) months ago, and has yet to be repaired by her home warranty company of many years, American Home Shield (hereinafter “AHS”). AHS has given us the run-around of an extremely unethical, illegal and discriminatory nature from day one. We considered hiring an attorney; however, that would be very stressful for a 92-year old, and attorney fees could result in excess of the claim amount with AHS.

    In October of 2019, our heating and cooling system broke. We called AHS to report the claim, and we requested that they send out A/C & Appliance to evaluate the unit, as AHS had sent them to us in the past and they were excellent -- very knowledgeable and honest. AHS totally disregarded this request and, with no explanation to us, sent “ABC Company” (hereinafter “ABC” - not real name) out to our home. After approx. 20 min, ABC reported that the unit was beyond repair -- it was a fire hazard and could not be turned on again.

    Before I heard back from AHS, the receptionist at ABC called and said the equipment to replace our system had arrived. The parts (inside and outside units) were of different brands, which we didn’t like, and it made us think they already had the mismatched units in their inventory; and, then the shocker came when the receptionist said we would have to personally pay an additional approx. $3,000, out-of-pocket, for getting the system “up-to-code.” I requested that the manager call me about this and the receptionist said she would have him call me, but he never did. I kept calling, but no one ever called me back.

    I next called AHS and again told them that we wanted to have AC & Appliance handle our repairs (they were an AHS contract service provider), and AHS said they would send them out to the home, but we would have to pay another $75 deductible. We agreed, paid the second $75 deductible, AC & Appliance came out, and they agreed that the system was “dead.” They said they would repair our system with the AHS determined claim amount, and get it “up-to-code” for no more than an additional $1,000, out-of-pocket from us.

    That settled it for us; we were going to use AC & Appliance. I, therefore, called AHS again, and informed them that WE HAD TO HAVE A/C & Appliance handle our repairs, and we had the right to choose companies that were in their network; and, we had paid AHS a second $75 deductible for them to send AC & Appliance to our home for a damage determination. AHS immediately, adamantly said NO, that we HAD TO USE ABC. I informed them that, no matter what, we were NOT going to use ABC. We did not trust them for the foregoing reasons. It was very obvious that, not only was ABC their “preferred” service provider, they were the ONLY service provider in our area. It seemed that AHS was in cahoots – practicing collusion with ABC, by denying us our right to use an AHS-contracted service provider of our choice.

    AHS stated that if we didn’t agree to use ABC (and pay the approx. $3,000 out-of-pocket), then we would have to take the “cash-out” option, which they would not tell us what they had determined that was. After calling repeatedly -- no less than 20+ times, waiting on-hold forever – at least an hour per call before speaking with AHS rep-after-AHS rep promising to have someone call me back, NO ONE CALLED ME BACK!!!! Finally, at the beginning of January, 4 ½ months later, an extremely nice representative named “ABC,” did what she promised. She called and left the message that our “cash-out-check” was approx. $2700. I have this phone call recorded.

    I called AHS back and told them we would accept this cash-out option, but they said the amount had to be reduced by $600, because of the initial (and only) visit by ABC (of no more than 30 min.) to evaluate our system, and that we would not receive any money until proof that our system repairs had been completed.

    I told this AHS rep that reducing the cash out option by that extreme amount was outrageous! I advised her of the recorded message from “ABC” -- that our check amount from AHS would be approx. $2700, and she said she’d call me back immediately after speaking with her supervisor. I argued with her to let me speak with the supervisor myself, and she said no way – no customer can ever speak with the supervisor; it all had to go through her, the “cash-out” phone representative.

    I have continuously called again and again, and all the reps have stated that someone would call me back; a couple of them promised that they, themselves would call me back, since they agreed that the reduction of $600 for the one visit from CK was absurd, but to no avail. No supervisor has called me back, nor has any other customer service rep. returned my calls.

    We weren't feeling any heat and we could smell an exhaust odor. I called Home Shield and I got somebody on the phone but his English was bad and he didn't understand. He was rude and he got frustrated 'cause I was trying to explain to him. He asked me where my furnace was to which I said I had no idea. That really sent him over the top. Then he asked if he could place me on hold. We've had AHS for years and I've never had that problem before. So I went online instead.

    The guy who came was very informative. I still smell exhaust but he told me what to do as far as getting the air to flow better. I also didn't know that the filters needed to be cleaned and nobody ever told me that. So when we took it out, it was a disgusting nest.     The house is five years old. The original builder had covered a GFCI outlet with sheetrock which nobody caught. There was a ring series of outlets that didn't work and the people that sold the house apparently just lived with it. When we moved in, we saw that there were several boxes that didn't work. It was a very complicated fix and the guys from Preferred Electrical figured it out. They were able to trace out the lines, found the hidden box, cut a hole in the sheetrock and were able to install the right thing to put the system back into order. It was fantastic. They were super professional, quick, prompt, efficient and very organized. I couldn't have been happier.

    My experience with my recent claim with AHS has been very good. We’ve had the contractors out twice. One was they did the ceiling fans and the other was the electrical fixture in the kitchen on the ceiling. We were very happy with the encounter. We had no problems at all. Sometimes, the service of AHS is not real fast because Willows is a little remote from some of those providers. The nearest reasonable-sized city is Chico, which is at least 45 minutes to an hour away. So, sometimes, it’s hard for them to assign people to come out here. But they’ve been good for us. We’ve had AHS for over 10 years now.

    BW Air & Heat came out for an AC repair. They said that it needed so many gallons of Freon and American Home Shield covers around $10 a gallon and I would owe a certain amount. I had them go ahead and do it. They were very nice and polite. They said all the parts and labor and everything was covered, but it’s just part of the Freon, that’s $10, is covered for each gallon.

    Airmax Inc. came out on three different occasions and it was not a very good experience for me. The first time they came out, they fixed an igniter and the problem seemed to be fixed. My heat worked for three days then they had to come back out a second time. They said the control board had burnt up, so they had to replace it too. They said everything was done and it was fixed. They left and four hours later, my house still was not heating. It was getting somewhat better though. The temperature went up five degrees, but it was still another five degrees off of what it was supposed to be. Still having to run our heaters, we were cold and I called the company again on a Friday to ask if that was normal. They were closed, so nothing happened until Monday.

    Monday, I called American Home Shield and told them what was going on. The lady that answered the phone did not speak very good English. I've been with American Shield for four years and whenever I had any problems and every time I called in, I’d always gotten somebody who spoke English. If they had gone outside the United States to hire people, they should at least have somebody that is going to be working these claims speak enough English where you can understand them. I asked the lady very nicely, at least 10 times, if I could please speak to a supervisor or be transferred to someone else whom I could understand what they were saying. She kept on insisting to explain things to me again and I didn't understand her.

    I told her that I needed American Shield to contact the company and to get them to come back out. The conversation went on for approximately 15 minutes. I kept on asking to speak to somebody else and she never would. Finally, I hung up and called back to get somebody else who could speak better English. Just my luck. I got the exact same person again, so I was talking to her again, and I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said that there was no supervisor, that there was only her. I could hear people talking on the background, so I asked to speak to somebody else. She asked me to hold on and she would try to help me again. She then came back on the line and told me that I was mistaken, that the order was not completed on Friday.

    She said that Airmax had provided paperwork stating that they had to order the control panel and they would be out to my place on Monday to replace the part. I told her that was not what happened then she said she would make a phone call to Airmax and put me on hold. I held for about 10 minutes and she came back to the line. She said she just spoke to the company and she gave me an eight-hour period that day that the company will be out at my property. I tried to tell her that Airmax told me Friday that the job was completed. The rep said no, they did not. I asked if she was calling me a liar. She said she wasn't and that she was just telling me she spoke with the company, and the company stated that that was what was going on. I told her that was not what was conveyed to me and she said there’s only been a miscommunication.

    I asked when exactly it was that the company was going to come out. I work fulltime and I needed to make sure somebody would be at the house if they were coming back out. She got hot and heavy, and she hung up the phone on me. I called back a third time and a male rep picked up the phone, checked my order and put me on hold. I was on hold for about 20 minutes when Airmax called me back because of the message I left them Friday evening. I talked directly to the company, and they said they had not spoken to anyone at American Shield that morning. They stated that the order was completed on Friday. They were not planning on coming back out to my house on Monday and there was absolutely no miscommunication.

    By that time, I was in tears, crying to the company. The company said they would make it right and that if I was still having issues, they would send somebody out that day. They explained to me that American Shield does not have you replace the name brand part, that they make you go with an off-brand part. They said they would purchase the name-brand part, put it back on my heater, and see if that would work. They said they would take this hit from their office personally because of American Home Shield’s screw-up. At that point. I didn't care who the screw-up was. I just needed heat in my house. Airmax replaced the control panel with a brand-name and once they did that, the igniter went back out again. They had to leave, get a different igniter and put that one on. Since they did that, my heat has been working just fine.

    American Shield called me, their customer, a liar when I was not lying. I was telling them exactly what was going on, which the company confirmed that what I was saying was true. They said that while they put me on hold, they contacted the company and the company told them they had plans on coming back out to visit with me. That was a lie. When Airmax finally called me back, they stated they had not spoken to anybody at all from American Shield. I was very frustrated by the time all of this was said and done. I wanted to let them know what was going on and I tried to contact the headquarters, but I could not get a different telephone number.

    I love American Home Shield. I've been with them for over 15 years and I tell people all the time about the company. They’re awesome. It’s a great way to protect your assets and investments. It’s, so far, the best home warranty that I’ve ever used. They have a low deductible and a high variety of products that are covered. They should improve their billing though. It is inconsistent, like with credit cards falling off. Their online service is not updated on their computers. The things online showed that I owed a balance but that did not reflect in their databases. In fact, I had a really bad experience with the customer care department. They said that I didn't owe a balance and I trusted what they were saying but then online, it said that I did and my credit card got deducted. That was not concurrent with what the the reps were saying. They refunded me the money but in the process, they also removed my autopay.

    I canceled a service but two months after, they took the money for the $100 deductible. I was calling because it was still showing it online. Then the system took it and put my account into overdraft. Then I couldn’t pay the monthly service. It was a one-off odd thing that happened but it was enough for me to say I was about to cancel. However, they did kind of extend it and I finally got the check. I had to do four phone calls and it was annoying and inconvenient. But it's pretty good for 15 years. Another thing is that with some of the technicians they send out, the companies are pretty lofty. But then that goes with any company if you choose a service repair guy and then you’re calling somebody else because he didn’t do the job right. So I don’t blame that on American Home Shield. They’re a fantastic model of a company.

    When you get online to report a problem to AHS, they tell you that in 24 to 36 hours, somebody will contact you. Usually, it’s a lot quicker than that, but you don’t ever talk to anybody from the warranty company. If I had a serious problem such as a busted pipe that was leaking all over the house, they wouldn’t be the kind of warranty company I would wanna deal with. Their process is impersonal. Other than that, my experiences with the contractors that they sent out have been 50-50. The air conditioning guy who came out really good but the plumbing company was a shady fly-by-night place. They unclogged the toilet and it took them about four hours to finish. So they did the job and did it all right, but they were a little scary. Also, it didn’t seem like they had real commercial-grade equipment and most of the stuff they had were from Home Depot.

    We were doing a little laundry, and my daughter had heard a sound. We weren’t quite sure what had happened. When we went to turn the dryer back on, the drum inside with the clothes wouldn’t spin. I filed the claim online and I like AHS' website. It’s super-easy to follow. After I submitted the claim, I got an email that the contractor would contact me within 24 hours, and it was only a couple hours.     We’ve enjoyed AHS. We’ve always had good results with them. We had somebody come out and take a look at the air conditioner. It's covered and we're trying to decide what to do which is to either go through the repairs or just use the amount towards a new unit. About 6 weeks ago, I did a claim on the weekend for a dryer that was cutting off. They called me Monday morning to schedule a visit.     American Home Shield has been responsive. We had a duct that was detached in our garage or had holes in it. I called to have that repaired. The guy just duct-taped it back and that was his repair. So, that was a little annoying to pay $100 to have somebody come out and duct-tape something that had already been duct taped together.

    We also had a refrigerator issue and AHS was really good. We called them and then we thought we could fix it, and we canceled, and then we called them. And then an hour later, they have someone out pretty quickly, so I don't really have any complaints against them. We were trying to figure out when to use them and when not to use them. It’s been pretty quick and easy for the most part.

    American Home Shield does a very good job and that’s why we stayed with them all these years. Their contractors get here as soon as they can. I know they're busy and they're coming from different places, but they call and they set up the appointment to see if it’s okay and they're usually here right on the dot. We had a guy from S&S Appliance fix the thermostat on the dryer. Also, the washer was all rusted out around the top. It was pretty raunchy-looking and was getting on the clothes. So I thought I'd better see about it while I was getting my dryer check too. The guy said that it was due to bleach splashing back up around the top. Since it was just due to rust, it wasn't claimable. So I ended up getting a new washer on my own. Other than that, the contractor was a very nice man. He called before he came and made sure everything was cleaned up afterward.

    I had AHS contract for the past 5 years and service and response is good, but the contractors that they hire have had or has very bad rating specially when they are hired by the AHS and sent to their customers homes. They try to cheat the end customers by poor service or incompetent with the contractors services- either they are requested by AHS to reject the work order through warranty service -I had numerous request from fixing the refrigerator, faulty electric breaker, leaking faucet, garbage disposal and exhaust fan for which they either failed to repair saying it was no covered or took almost 8 months to get it done right. I would suggest that one would need to check the ratings of the contractors that AHS send before you let them in your home. I would not recommend AHS - as I mentioned this company does not see the rating and reviews of the company that they subcontract.

    When I have a claim, I submit it to AHS through the link that they sent on my email or on the app on my phone. Recently, I filed one for a plumbing issue and they sent a tech from Prime Plumbing. He came out in a couple of days and there were some scheduling issues, but that was not really on their part but our part. My experience with him was good but he really didn't have to do anything. He came in and said that what we thought was happening wasn't happening and that we didn't have a leak. He said it was incorrect caulking and he was here for 10 minutes.

    RG Plumbing and Rooter did a fine job. The contractor came in and he automatically saw what was wrong. So, he went about doing his job and he did it fast. My commode was rocking on the floor and he corrected that. He went back and looked at the faucet that I thought was leaking, but he showed me that it was not leaking -- after you turn it off, there is still a little bit of water in the pipe, and it will drip for a minute or two and then it stops. He said it was normal in that type with a spigot that has a neck. He helped me a lot. My son has American Home Shield and he referred me to them. When I submitted my claims, I did them on the telephone, and the interactions I had with their reps are simple.

    The contractor who came for my electric issue was professional and got the repair done. The fact that he was able to come in, get things diagnosed, and get it fixed really quickly was a great relief. But I would like to see AHS provide quicker turnarounds. Contractors come based on your schedule of availability and it took them almost a week to come over. I’m a city kid, so I’m used to everything getting done fast and people being available all the time. But I don’t live in the city now so I could give them the benefit of the doubt. I live in a small town so I can understand not having those professionals on-hand all the time, but we’re only about 45 minutes from the closest city. Although that city’s not that large, at least it’s a decent-sized city, and I know they have professionals there.

    When I had a leak in the pipes that connected my water heater to the main water line, the contractor who came was very professional, friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. He just replaced the whole part there where it was leaking. He got right on it and did a good job. He worked fast and was out of here after not too long. AHS gets things taken care of quickly and it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I've been with them for about 12 years and I've been happy with their service.     The person that AHS sent out for our recent claim kept saying it was the pump, so he changed the pump out, put a new one in, but the same thing happened. It wouldn’t stay long enough for it to run a cycle or two. I got upset and then he said, “you're gonna have to figure something else out.” So, I called AHS. The new technician came in and as soon as he opened it up, he knew what was wrong. They were using the wrong pump. They were using an old one that was all plastic and it would only last for a little bit. And he put the right pump in and we haven't had a problem since. I've been with AHS for a long time. I got a house that’s 40 years old and things have happened and I kept renewing just in case. And we’ve had some of those in-case deals and we've been able to get them to get the people out here and get things straight. I’m satisfied with AHS.

    I was with American Home Shield years ago then I went with somebody else. I got back with them about three years ago. My brother had a good experience with his air conditioner, which I never seem to have the same kind of good experience. The only people I had a good experience with are my appliances. The guy that fixed the refrigerator, as well as the microwave, was really good, But outside of that, I seem to have really bad luck. I paid $300 out for the pool people and no matter what, they didn't fix the thing. They came out and cleaned the little filter thing, and it goes around for about 10 minutes, and then it stops again. I think it's the pump that's really old and they won't believe me. It might work for a little while while they're there, but then about half an hour later, it sounds like it's working, but it doesn't after that. Then they kept charging me so I'll probably gonna have to hire a pool company that I know is really good that sells my kind of pool.

    We were having a temperature issue with our water heater. I called AHS and it was good speaking with their rep. She understood what I needed. I was told that the contractors would be in contact with me and SAP Services did within five minutes. It was very quick. The guy came, checked and adjusted it. He did a thorough job. He also told us to use it for a couple of days and let him know if we would still have the issue. We still did, so we called back. It's still having the temperature change but we're just adjusting as we're doing things. It needs to be repaired but we have sufficient hot water until it is repaired. We did have some questions that needed to be clarified but overall, it was good. Anytime we've had an issue, American Home Shield has been quick to respond and has taken care of everything that we've needed.

    I’ve had American Home Shield in this house since July, but I had it before for six years. It was one of my stipulations as a contingency when I closed that I wanted it specifically from American Home Shield. Submitting a claim is pretty straightforward. I usually do it online.     I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years and when the microwave over the range used to go in and out on us, I called it in. I did the automated route over the phone and they said I would be called within 24 hours. The contractor came out and tried to fix the problem. They informed us that they weren't sure it was gonna hold, but they were gonna try to repair it because it was an older model. We went out of the area and we thought it was repaired, but when we came back, it still was not working. It won't stay on but we figured maybe it had to reset. A guy came back out and he said he would contact us back about it because the part that he put in was not enough and the unit won't come on at all. Still, American Home Shield is necessary for renters or for owners. I own other properties and it's convenient as a landlord.

    American Home Shield has been with us when we bought the house. We've had the warranty for a year and a half. I think that was just part of the contract, then it dropped off, and then I don't know when my husband planned this up again. We'll probably never be without it now. R & R Appliances came for my washing machine. I just got online on the AHS website to submit the claim. I reached out to the tech and he came out the next day. He looked at it and ordered a part. It came one day later than we were expecting but that had nothing to do with the tech. He installed it, but something else in the washing machine broke that was not fixable. He said that he would have to submit whatever he needed to for us to get a replacement washer. I was happy and satisfied. People should get the AHS warranty.

    I wanted to go with a company that I wouldn't have to fight with. Some of the companies say that if you don’t maintain your air conditioning then they can’t cover this or if you don’t replace your anode rod in your water heater, they may not cover it. So I went with what was easy. Looking at what American Home Shield covers, I decided it was not a bad idea. It was not that too expensive and the reviews I saw made American Home Shield look pretty good. My neighbor had it as well so I thought it might be a good idea.

    I've gone online to file one claim and the website was good. Home Shield sent out Sure Temp Air Conditioning and they were there in a reasonable time. They were good. What I had was kinda hard to fix because of the components that they make these days. Our unit was not blowing hot air. We had it on a heat selection and it would just blow cool air, just like outside air. But the tech was able to adapt a generic brand of component and make a fix, and so far, so good.

But there was a stove issue that didn't go as smoothly and they denied the claim. They said that the wires were chewed up instead of just broken and that they don’t cover that.

    I have two homes, so I have two contracts with American Home Shield. I’ve used them many times this year in the end of October to December and it’s just easy. I’ve had American Home Shield since I was a teenager, so I’m always boosting them to everybody. If you’ve got a rental or if you’ve got your own home, I’d advise it. It’s your medical insurance for your appliances and there’s just a copay. In my other house, I had redone a kitchen, and all the appliances went down at the same time. It was like, “Okay, it’s time to fix you all. It’s time for a medical visit.”

    Everybody I’ve gotten has been really good too. Recently, I demanded somebody come out a certain day because it was freezing cold and the guy found that there was definitely an issue. Everything went smoothly. He came in, acknowledged it, went back, ordered a part and got it quickly. He came back within a week and fixed the problem. I never needed to use the contractor before and they were efficient. The guy was also the first worker who ever acknowledged no street parking. He could have parked in my driveway, but he parked way down at the end where there was guest parking. I was very impressed that he followed the rules of the park, so that was awesome.

    I’ve had some communication issues with American Home Shield. When my home heating system went and got very complicated, there was a language barrier with the person I was trying to relay the information to. We were trying really hard to understand each other. It’s nobody’s fault but it’s very discouraging and there's frustration on both ends when they can’t understand me when I’m trying to get a little technical and I’m not understanding them. The company tries, but they had to be more cognizant of at least putting people on the front lines that can understand a situation when it gets a little bit complicated.

    Other than that, they have tried to bend over backward at times when they finally get it although it might take three phone calls and six hours later. With my appliance issue, the guy that came out from Carolina Appliance was excellent, professional, prompt, and a real go-getter. He spoke very highly of working for the company. In fact, he was very good. If I ever have another problem with appliances that he works on, I’m gonna request him.

    Our heater wasn't working. For some reason, every once in a while, it would work, but not all the time. Freedom Heating & Cooling came out and found that the blower motor was overheating. So it would run for a little bit and then it would shut off and sometimes it wouldn't run at all, so they replaced the motor. The claim process with AHS went really well. I told them on previous calls that I prefer Freedom 'cause they just seem to really get the job done quickly and they're familiar. They were really good. They couldn't get a one-call resolution because they had to order the part and come back the next day, but it went really smoothly.

    It was rough on my very first service call with AHS. I didn't put anything into them for a year, and then the second year I wound up using them and the first company they sent out was horrible. The contractors were saying that my wiring wasn't up to code and I've been in this house for 15 years. I've never had a problem with wiring in past inspections. So I told AHS I didn't want them to be one of my options anymore. So for the same exact call, they sent out Freedom Heating & Cooling and they were phenomenal. Since then, I've had one other call and they've been great.

    American Home Shield has gotten bad. I’ve been with them for a long time in this house and then in my other house too. It used to really be a good service. It was really worth the money. However a lot of people they send out now out is what my mom used to call jackleg folks. They're not professional. They do a half job. They come and look at the job. I hate that American Home Shield doesn’t let them go buy the item and put it in. They come back, and it’s two weeks late.

    When you need something for your appliances, you don’t need to get the runaround that’s why you paid for this warranty. If you wanted the runaround, you just do it yourself. You could take that money that I paid them every month, put it in some kind of bank account, and be ready to get somebody to come and fix your stuff on the first try rather than just waiting around.

    My air conditioning was broken upstairs. They’ve come out but by the time I finished paying for the Freon that goes in, I could’ve hired somebody to do the job. They charged some outrageous price like $50 or $60 a pound for Freon when you can really buy it for $10. That’s ridiculous. The service has gone down. I hate the customer service that we have to call. I know we live in a global world but it’s hard enough to try to tell somebody what's going on face-to-face rather than speaking to someone that has a language barrier. Usually, we get a representative on the phone. I don’t have a problem to talk with an accent, but I can be understood over the telephone. It’s really difficult when you’re trying to explain to someone what's going on and they don’t understand the lingo that we use. It’s very frustrating.

    There's a lady that came out from Whirlpool that’s the kind of technicians we wanna see. She came in, did her job, was on time. I get people who say they're on their way, it’d be two hours later. When she said she was gonna be there, she was there. She got the job done on a professional level. I told her that I was gonna call and give her the biggest reference I could because she was the best I had seen in years. Usually with American Home Shield is you have to drag it out to the point that I had been looking for another warranty company. She really kept my business with them. I was “Get American Home Shield when I started this about 20 years ago." I am not now. They’re losing a lot of the good providers because you are trying to bootleg stuff.

    I've got five houses on AHS and their service is good. I called them about the heating system and they were willing to fix it and take on the charges. But I told them I was just gonna get a brand-new heating system instead of getting it fixed. I also called them twice about electrical. Our front porch light wasn't running on. I checked for the power and I was seeing there was no power. The tech told me it was the lamp itself. He said I should change the lamp and then the electricity was backward. According to him, it's on when it's off and it's off when it's on. So I changed the lamp and it still didn't work. Still, AHS does what they say they're gonna do and it's a good thing to have.

    If you think American Home Shield will replace a major appliance for your trade service call fee, think again! If your replacement appliance requires water lines, gas lines or vents to be upgraded for code compliance or modified in any way, you will be paying out of pocket for that, in addition to the call fee. American Home Shield billed me the $100 call fee to have a plumber come out and tell me I needed a new water heater. I then had to pay $290 for code upgrades (which I expected) and $325 for modifications to install the new water heater. Obviously, modifications will always be necessary to install a new major appliance. Bottom line, American Home Shield purchased the new water heater and paid basic hourly labor for the install.

    I was in contract with this company for 3 years. I only had two items that needed to be serviced. My first one went well despite the repair person's attitude. When it came to my second repair. I paid for someone to come and tell me what was wrong with my a/c unit. After receiving that information, AHS called me to tell me they will not repair this because my damper is not in my contract. The damper is a part of ductwork which is a part of my contract. They refused to repair it. They offered a second opinion option and I declined.

    I had to wait for the next seven months before getting out of the contract. When it was approaching the month of March I called on the first to make sure my contract is not renewing, they said there is an administration fee so I called back the week of the expiration date, they said it will be 30 something dollars. So I called back three days before, this lady says there's a 60 something dollar administration fee. I hung up and called and was transferred to the cancellation department (which was never done before) and this lady did it within 5 minutes of speaking to me and did it without an administration fee because it was three days before the end of the contract. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. THEY ARE THIEFS AND LIARS. HORRIBLE!

Submitting the claim to Home Shield was really easy and On Time Plumbing & Heating came right out. Then, they told me that someone would be calling me and coming out to finish the drywall but they never did. I called them the week they came out and asked if they had gotten someone appointed to the drywall. They told me I needed to call American Home Shield which I did and American Home Shield told me I needed to call them. It still isn't fixed.     I have used American Home Shield's services once and it turned out to be good. It was easy to file the claim over the phone and I got what I needed taken care of. The person was here and took care of the situation very quickly. I was pleased with that. However, Home Shield needs to notify you when they’re gonna go up on your account because after that one time that I used them, my bill went up by $6 and I couldn’t understand that. I was wondering if it was because I used the service. That was very disappointing.

    I've had the service since we moved into this house, about three years ago, and the bill has been steady until that. The increase was significant and that was what made me notice it. They could’ve been going up on it a few cents all along and I didn’t know it. Fortunately, I had enough money in there to cover it when it went through because it is an automatic deduction.     AHS has gotten better. A year or two ago, they sucked because I had to wait on the phone forever. Now, they automated their systems. I can get a vendor assigned to me much quicker and the process to get a vendor and get somebody here is much quicker and faster. The last three or four times I used them over the past year, the response time is much better.

    We asked for a vendor for a timer on the pool filter. It has a timing mechanism and it also has a mechanism to protect the system to make sure the system goes on when it gets to a certain degree and it wasn't recognizing the degrees outside so it doesn't freeze up. The pump on that comes on when the temperature gets too low and it wasn't doing that. I tried to keep it on manually. Serene Pools came out and they did a good job. The tech that was sent out was great. He was professional and on time. He explained to me what was wrong and I haven't had a problem since then. I would encourage AHS to continue to use them.

    There was a leak under the sink and when I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, they sent out Plumb Genius. They found out that there was a problem with the garbage disposal and they said they fixed it. But the next day, I noticed that it was still leaking. So, I called back American Home Shield and put in another order. Then, the contractor called and made an appointment to come out. It turned out that there was some gasket that wasn't fixed the first time. But the techs were nice and they fixed the issue. Now, it’s not leaking anymore. All in all, my experience with AHS has been fine and they give me help when I need it.

    My recent claim with AHS went all right, but we still had leaking in the refrigerator. We couldn't figure out why it was leaking all the time. The contractor came twice because we didn't think it was fixed. And the second time, we thought it was fixed. The contractor tried. He thought it was something else and he brought a brand-new board out to put in and then he did something else, and it just seemed to solve the problem. But for some reason, this refrigerator leaks and I can’t figure it out. So, I just turned the water off today and cleaned off the back and see if that stops it.

    Whenever we’ve asked for help from AHS, the men have come right out. Another thing happened. We had our thermostat went out on us. We didn't know what to do with that, so a man came and fixed that. He was excellent. He did it really quickly and solved my problem and discovered some other weaknesses in the electrical system in the house. But the other thing is it’s all digitalized and the people didn't leave any instructions on how this thing operates. And people said, “Just go online.” We’re not that type of people that we go online to find out everything ‘cause we’re in that other generation and we’d like to see things right in front of us. But I really appreciate AHS because it has helped.

    The tech from A Water Solution who came out knew what he was doing and he fixed our plumbing issue right away. He showed me how I could take care of it in the future, too. His timeliness was good. We had the problem for a while, but he had to get the part in, and then he had to go and get another part to make that part work. So, it took a while, but it was not bad at all.

    The American Home Shield reps wanted me to renew, but I do not want to spend the money. On another agent, on another time, we had something out with air conditioning and I paid $75. The guy came out and charged another 50 because it was not covered. He said it would have been cheaper to have called them. So what I did was that, along with some of friends here, I made contact with people that would fix our stuff at a price lower or as low. I looked at what it would cost for 10 years with American Home Shield, and for that amount of money, with the condition of our equipment, it will be cheaper for me to just take care of myself -- it is the right financial decision for this family. Nevertheless, it was very comforting to know that I had that warranty for that first year to make sure the stuff wasn't going to break down right away.

    For the most part, I chose AHS for the name brand and also, a family friend recommended them. The online system is very efficient. When I put in an issue for any appliance or concerns, I get an immediate feedback text and the company that’s gonna be dispatched. Typically, the company calls very readily or I’d call them. They can also send a tracking and I can see where the drivers are. All that gives great reassurance.

    For my heating claim, the contractor who came was very efficient and thorough. He detected the problem very readily and solved it without any issues at all. He did his diagnostics and made sure that some of the obvious things were not a concern, like the motor. He realized that it was the panel that had burnt out.     I try not to call American Home Shield too much when I can. If I can fix something myself and it's less expensive than $75, I fix it. I've had them for 13 years and I was really thinking about changing it because there are other providers out there that's less expensive, but they really fixed my dishwasher. I thought that maybe they upgraded. Since it's not up until May, I'm gonna give it a try and see what they're gonna do with my air conditioner without me having to put out money like I've been putting out every summer.

    My air conditioning claim always sucked. It's like they patch it enough to get me going, and then it's back out again the next summer. I paid $1,000 out of pocket for Freon. It's like Southern Comfort just came out and did patchwork then I had to call somebody else out. Recently, AHS sent somebody else out, but it was cold season. The heater was running, so they said they couldn't check it.

I couldn’t understand what he was saying at first, then the contractor that he assigned me to had bad reviews, so I requested another contractor. He was very good about doing that for me and everything went well. I looked at the reviews and from what I read, the contractor was very good. He was a little early when he came and he went up in the attic and checked the whole system. He explained to me that the last service people that came out put something on that was very cheap and that one didn’t last at all.     I had a home warranty company for three years and they slammed me every chance they got. It was a nightmare with Choice Warranty. They rejected every single claim that was submitted. My experience was very bad. But with American Home Shield, I had two claims with them and had no problems with either of them. It's very comforting because as a single woman, I don't have a huge income. The home warranty is like my backup and to have that to be reliable and dependable means that world to me.

    I’ve been pretty happy with AHS. I never had an insurance and all this stuff before. I started reading about it and it makes a whole lot of sense. I don’t mind paying the premiums. The people on the phone are friendly and the people coming out have been friendly, so it’s been a good deal. Recently, I called them when the heating sensor went bad. The furnace wasn’t firing up and it wasn’t getting power to the thermostat. I was afraid it’d be really cold, and it’d be 4 o’clock in the morning, I’d have no heat in the house. So I had them look at it and they said they'd replace the heating sensor which it’s old. I also had a guy come out when my dishwasher wasn’t working and he fixed my dishwasher. So far having it has been great. I’m gonna recommend it to one of my neighbors.

    American Home Shield should fire Coastal Appliance. They don't do a good job and they don't follow up. They ordered a part and and that wasn't even the problem at all. They came out twice, maybe even three times, and they never fixed the problem. It was with my refrigerator and it kept doing the same thing. The water dispenser was evidently clogged up at the back of the unit and they were never able to uncover that. The next guy Home Shield sent fixed it and he was excellent. I haven't had any more problems since. I'd want Atlas to come back out here if I had another problem. They fixed it right away and did a great job.

    On the other hand, American Home Shield follows up and I like that. They also refunded us. They put the money back in my account. The reason I chose American Home Shield to begin with was because their price was competitive and they offered more services than anyone else. Plus my Realtor recommended them when we closed our house.

    We didn’t have hot water for a week and Lubbock Plumbing did good. The company would come around and they would fix it, and then at night, it would leak after we use the water. We wondered what was going on and I called them back out. They would then fix it and it would leak again at night. Every time we would use the water, it would back up on the back of our garage. We just moved in, so some of our stuff that was in the garage got wet, including my wife’s clothes. The water heater got all moldy underneath so we had to dry it out. They also had to replace a Sheetrock behind there and a Sheetrock behind the refrigerator.

    They had to request a couple guys there. It was a whole disaster and it wasn’t very fun. It wasn’t their fault though. We hired some painters and they ended up putting a paint rag in my garbage disposal which was causing a leak in my garage because it was backing up the drain. After Lubbock Plumbing came out four different times, they finally found out what the issue was and after two weeks, they got it fixed. I’m glad that we had American Home Shield. It was the company that was picked when we bought our home and I told my wife we’re definitely buying a warranty company the next time for next year.

    I have been with AHS since we bought this house in 2013. Water heater failed 3.5 years ago and was replaced by AHS. The plumbers had to bring it up to code at that time and I paid a lot of money out of pocket to get this done. Last week the same water heater(still under warranty) started leaking from the tank. I scheduled replacement with AHS. Plumber was dispatched through AHS on Monday 3/9/2020, I paid the $75 service call fee. Plumbers looked at my water heater and what needed to be done, then confirmed with AHS. The plumbers wanted to charge me an additional $650.00 to bring this "up to code" I informed them I had already paid the previous plumber to do this through AHS.

    I also found out that the original plumber did not pull a permit for the work. Since we had no hot water, I removed and exchanged the warrantied water heater myself. It took me alone about 2 hours to accomplish this. I am filing a complaint with the local building department and with states attorney because I think this is fraudulent.

    The contractor came twice for my icemaker, but I gotta call them again. Initially, the contractor tried to fix it, but it didn’t work. Then he came back and he said he had to replace it. He ordered a part and came on Wednesday to put it in. He then said to give it a couple of days and see if it’s making ice. However, it’s still not making ice. If he can’t fix this, then someone else needs to be sent out. AHS has been responsive even though it takes a little while to get through on the phone to them, but our issue has been going on for about a month now. Right now, I'm dissatisfied with them.

    There was an issue with the refrigerator and the contractor figured out that we needed a new compressor. For our claim on the water filter, American Home Shield sent us to have a second opinion because the contractor was saying that the part was no longer available. The second contractor who came in searched and went through their whole database. They had a part sent to us and then, they had their person come in on Friday the 13th and install it. The water filter seems to be working fine. We had a positive experience with both contractors although the second contractor may have had a slightly greater knowledge or database available from them. We moved into our house in November 2007 and we have one year that the previous owners included in the contract. We’ve just kept it since then. So, we’ve had AHS since then and here we are in 2020. They haven't disappointed me yet.

    American Home Shield always does an amazing job. I've had them for 10 years now and I've never had a bad service with them. AHS switched to a different system and the contractor couldn't get through to them to get authorization numbers. I was upset because the contractor from All Clear Plumbing had other jobs and he waited for 45 minutes to be disconnected automatically and couldn't get through to AHS so that put him behind. We rescheduled for Tuesday and they came in and fixed everything.

    I've had a lot of plumbing issues and I always request All Clear Plumbing and Heating because they're thorough. They've been here at least half a dozen times. I always ask them to give me a 20-minute call before they get here because I'm disabled. So if I'm upstairs and I don't hear the doorbell, I always get a phone call from whoever is on their way. They're professional and are always on time. They always do their job and they tell me what the problem is. They don't BS me because I'm through American Home Shield or a home warranty company. I had that problem with other claims where the contractor told me what the issue could be and then walked out and did not fix the darn thing. All Clear Plumbing is an amazing company.

    The claim recently, which was for the AC, went well. Something came disconnected or something on the compressor outdoors and the contractor had to make a quick repair.     When we purchased our home, American Home Shield came with it, so we continued the service. They responded rapidly to our phone calls and scheduled the appointments out. I, however, did not like some of the companies that they used because they were not fixing the problem. So, we had to constantly call them back for the same problem this year with the electricity company that they have. When the company first came out, the issue was not fixed. So, the home warranty looked if there was another company, and there was not another company because a company that was 20 or 30 minutes away could not come to where we are at. AHS then said we had to use that company within the area. So, we had to pay again for that company to come out even after paying the first time. When they came out, we were there to make sure they fixed it correctly that time.

    The girl from AHS that works at the desk has been awesome. We had some water damage inside of our current property and the girl got somebody out the same day. That was exceptional because in the times prior, things weren’t really looked at as that important.     Having AMP Mechanical come out was a waste of my $75. They didn’t do anything. The technician came in, looked at it and when I asked what the problem was, he asked if the heat comes on. I told him it would every now and then. One night, we may have to run our electric heat or sleep out in the other part of my home where I have an open flame heater or it may kick in where it gets about 30 degrees in the house. Then he said he was not gonna be able to do anything. I asked what was going on and he said it was because I told him that the heater does work sometimes. Sometimes it does but it doesn’t kick on all the time plus it’s making a loud noise and it doesn’t produce any heat. But he said that American Home Shield said in our policy that we have to be without heat.

    So he was telling me that I would have to be sitting in a cold house with no heat before they could do anything. He said that is what American Home Shield said, not the company he was working for. So what was the $75 I paid for -- for them to come and tell me that although my heater was not on that day, it might kick in the next day and because of that, they couldn't fix the problem? He said he knew what the problem was because I had told him it might kick on later or another day, it meant the heater still worked sometimes. Thank God, we’re getting to a better weather. But it does the same thing when he told me what other options that I have. Also, the next day, American Home Shield said nothing like they always do, which pissed me off because nothing happened. AMP never called me or said anything either. As a matter of fact, I’ll been looking somewhere else to get my home warranty soon.

    Claim submission is easy. The washer quit working and Pro-Tech Appliance Services handled it finely. One time, I used it and it took over a month to get something, but it was okay and we still got it. The contractors they sent out were fine, except for one who was far away -- I wished I could have gotten somebody closer because there are several appliance places near me. I felt bad that he had to drive an hour and a half away. I suggest that American Home Shield get more contractors closer and with contract.

    We had a claim for a pressure regulator on our water and it was handled very well. I'm very happy. It went quickly and easily. Submitting the claim was actually very easy too, very surprisingly. I did it online but it was hard because it didn't say pressure regulators. It said plumbing and different things. The only thing I could find was leaks. So when the technician from AG Plumbing called, I just said it wasn't a leak and that it was a pressure regulator problem because we could hear pulsating pressures in the wall. Then he came out. I had it dug up and he replaced it then I buried it and he left. It was a good experience.

And while waiting for the parts, I had to call them and find out when is that going to be because we need our microwave.     I like the website a lot and when my hot water heater was pouring water out in my basement, I made a claim online. They sent K&S Plumbing and I dealt with them before, so I already knew what to expect with them. They’re always very helpful. A valve had gone bad and they had to replace it. Now, there's no water leaking and we're able to take showers and have hot water. So, that was perfect. I have a 20-month old in the house, so not being able to give him a bath and have hot water for him without having to boil it was almost impossible.     No help to resolve a broken water heater. My water heater broke on Thursday March 5th 2020 and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield at which time I also paid my deductible. In addition to the water heater leaking, the shut off valve that fills the tank also failed requiring me to shut off all the water in the house to stop the flood. I called the assigned technician who came out the following evening, Friday, March 6th. The technician told me he’d be submitting a report and that I should follow up with AHS on Monday as nothing could be done over the weekend.

    Monday I was informed by AHS that a new water heater was authorized and that it would arrive at the technician’s shop on Monday March 16th. A full 11 days after submitting my claim. I made multiple calls to AHS on Tuesday to explore my options as the AHS rep told me on Monday evening that they could try and expedite delivery. I received differing responses and was told that if I wanted a quote for a “cash out” it would be an addition 24-48 hours. Attempts to speak with a supervisor were met with long periods of being placed on hold.

    The water coming from the tap is less than 40 degrees F. With small children, we have had have had to take them to a neighbor’s house to give them baths. No hot water also means not being able to use a dishwasher and not being able to wash clothing. Never mind the fact that all of this is going on with the Coronavirus outbreak.

    Unfortunately, the AHS reps stuck with their provided scripts and could offer me no satisfaction. Tuesday evening I was told no hot water isn’t a reason to expedite a claim. Even more infuriating is the fact that Home Depot is just a couple miles away from my home with plenty of water heaters in stock. Had I known this would be the level of service received I would have requested the cash out and hired my own plumber. Needless to say I’m not satisfied especially since I can’t get a call back from or reach anyone at AHS in a supervisory position.

    The coverage with AHS is better. The items in your house that they cover are better and the monthly fee is less, and they do a better job of selecting their contractors. I’ve been much happier with the contractors that we’ve had to come for claims. I filed claims with the. One was for a garbage disposal that wasn’t working. The techs came and they showed me how to get it fixed so that next time I don’t have to file a claim. It was a $100 information transfer but it went well.

    The heating and air claim was for a flame sensor. It was not adjusted correctly so that the furnace would not turn on if it was windy outside and there was a draft. There were days when it would go several hours, and it would be 10 degrees below the thermostat setting and the furnace wasn’t coming on. They adjusted that and it’s been working fine since then. The techs have done a good job every time I’ve had a claim so far with AHS. I’ve been very happy.

    I liked my experience with American Home Shield. I only had a couple of things that I needed. As far as trying to get scheduled to meet with people, I’m by the phone, or if I’m not by the phone, I can look at my email all day. The contractors chose just to call though. They weren’t trying to use any other way of communication and I have to work. My husband is at home and he also can be texted, or they can just text me and I’ll text him. I’m not picking up every phone call because I don’t know who’s calling. AHS tried to get ahold of the contractors. So, that was going above and beyond. They took care me. I know the people with Home Shield. The contractors is another thing and AHS can’t control that, but I try my best.

    My coworker was renting out a house, and then he said he decided to buy homeowner’s insurance with American Home Shield and said everything was good for a while. So I decided to get it myself since I’m not a handyman. I submitted two claims with AHS at one time. The toilet was leaking on the side from what they said was an old rusty bolt. So they changed that. That was good, and then the heater wasn’t working. The contractor said it was because there was this thing that gets a signal, and it was not getting a clear signal, so sometimes the heater would turn on and sometimes it wouldn’t. He sandpapered something down to make it all clean, and he got the signal to respond, and then every time it tried to turn it on it's been turning on.

    Cyrus Plumbing and Air Conditioning came out for our water heater and that was the first time I ever used American Home Shield. And I had higher expectations because I ended up paying out of pocket almost $1,300, plus $100 I gave AHS, so I didn't see any really big savings in doing it. So, I’m just staying there for now, but if anything comes up and I ended up paying the same thing, then there is no point in having it.

    I put a call in for an appliance issue on a weekend and Cooper Appliances called me back on Monday or Tuesday. They came out, found the problem, and fixed it. It took them about 15 minutes. That was pretty quick. Submitting claims with AHS is easy but one problem is I have four fridges and they only cover two of them. The other two are a wine fridge and a bar fridge and they said they don't cover those, which was one of the things that broke along with my regular fridge. But other than that, everything has been fine so far.

    American Home Shield was recommended by a real estate Agent, and I figured they knew what they were talking about. Everyone that we’ve had has been superb. We just bought this house and it had been empty for a year. The house is wired for a phone and two of the phone lines did not work. So, Mates Electric came out and were able to rehook them up.

    My refrigerator wasn't cooling one time and I submitted a claim to AHS. A tech from Sears was sent out and he went over everything. The problem ended up being some valve that was stuck. He didn't change it and suggested that I leave the doors of the refrigerator open for 24 hours. He explained that it probably got too cold in the refrigerator and things froze. He said that if the valve started working it would be great. If it didn't, then I should call him back and he would replace it. The refrigerator started doing what he said and everything has been working okay since. American Home Shield is awesome. I left them for a short period of time and went to American Residential Warranty for six weeks. They were a joke. I will never leave AHS again.

    When the garage door opener quit working, Cascade came out and quickly replaced it. It was all perfect. AHS and their contractors have also been fine at all other times, but not with Sears. After the assessment, the parts were ordered and it took a long time to get the parts in. After they came out to replace the parts and left, the machine still wasn’t working. I called Sears back and said that it was still not working. They said that they could come back out, but it’d be $99. I said that they guys didn't fix it right the first time and that I’m not paying $99. They said that I needed to start a new case with AHS. I said that it was not a new case.

    They also kept canceling the service call and saying that their staff has had a family emergency. I said that their staff sure seems to have a lot of family emergencies and that I really don't believe them anymore.” That their standard mode of operation. They just tell everybody that their tech isn't gonna make it for a family emergency to try to get some empathy. Well, guess what? It’s not working. I called AHS back and scheduled Sears to come back out. They wouldn’t come back out without wanting to charge me. Fortunately, one of their techs finally realized what was happening, called me and said, “Let’s get this fixed.” He then came out and fixed it.

    The guy showed up very quickly from when we made the claim. They fixed the problem and then they went through and checked the entire system in the rest of the house to make sure that all the plumbing was good to go before they left. So it was a stellar job.     This warranty is a good thing. I got it after a friend recommended it at work and now, I've been with American Home Shield for about two years and a half.     Called in for our heater not working on Feb 25th. Got a vendor assigned and was told after 4 days he could not get to it for at least 2 weeks. Went to pending assignment again and the next vendor I was told to call for an appointment only to find out they are not even set up with AHS yet. I called AHS service line and was given the runaround. I asked for a supervisor and after a lot of arguing was supposedly being connected to one but actually she hung up. Called back a second time, finally connected to a supervisor. Finally was told a vendor would be assigned in 4 hours and I would be contacted by the technician resolution dept.

    6 hours later and no call as of yet. AHS in WV is terrible. Oh and don't try to cancel your contract either as I was told they would not refund my deductible 100.00 or my annual fee. I was really hopeful that this supervisor would do the right thing but alas I was let down. After 2.5 weeks of cold weather and only having half of my house heated I am done.

    So, home warranty companies are in the game to make a profit! They are there to take your money and return as little back as possible. My experience, I submitted a claim for a broken A/C. They promptly processed the claim but then their contractor sat on the claim for day after day, multiple calls to everyone possible! No relief, finally called a company on my own, problem fixed in less than 4 hours, cost? Less than 6 months of AHS subscription.

    It seemed like everything tore up at one time and I spent about $1,400 out of pocket getting some stuff fixed.     I use American Home Shield for the pool equipment stuff so when something happens, the technicians come out and they fix the problem quickly. The pool went from broken to fixed. I also have Home Shield for some of the big systems. I bought a used home so, in the next few years, I might have some of those systems go out on me.     It’s hard to communicate with AHS. Apparently, the contractors call the same number as the customers so sometimes. AHS is busy and would sometimes say that they'll call back. I think it would be easier to use phone communication. I've been with them for about 11 years and they have covered what they say they were going to, which was the most important thing. Moreover, they always find a contractor. Once in a while, it’s not as fast as I’d like but they do find a contractor and get them over.

    We had a leaking pipe and United Air Temp came when they said they were gonna come. They also do plumbing. They were courteous and they did a good job. Everything went fine. I also had something electrical issue and I was worried because I didn't know if it carried any risk of fire hazard. When I spoke with a contractor, they told me that, according to American Home Shield, they didn't have to come on out for 24 hours. In other words, there’s no such thing as an emergency. Other than that, I have been very pleased with Home Shield and I’m glad that I have it.
