    AHS has been very helpful for us because our home is not brand new. It’s a protection for us just in case. We’ve had a dryer, dishwasher and recently AC repair and most of them have gone smoothly. The AC is working perfectly fine now. The person that came out was very efficient.     My wife called American Home Shield for locks when we moved in and they had them changed out for us. Now, my meter is constantly running at a slow rate and at this point, I've been doing my appointments online. They make it convenient, but the first guy came out looking for leaks and he couldn't. Another guy came out today to do a pressure test and he's supposed to come back out and do it again because there's an area he has to dig up. So, they're not done yet. Still, American Home Shield is doing a good job.

    We called and set up the appointment for our dryer on a Thursday, and they came out on Tuesday. It would have been nice to be faster, but we’re in crazy times right now. The guy was professional and very nice. He didn’t talk very much and he just went straight to work. When he was fixing the dryer, it smelled like something was burning really bad, so I thought I would wait until my husband was home just in case. But he did it last night and it was fine. So, I’m just starting laundry today. We've done one cycle and it has dried. We’ve been very lucky with American Homee Shield.

    The guy who came and put the plumbing in did a great job. I did have a water leak after but he supposedly fixed it. It was a tube that he needed to put from the toilet where it wouldn’t leak. Then we had to get another contractor out here but Home Shield’s job with that is done. I’m very satisfied with my plumbing claim but with the stove, I’m very dissatisfied.

    My complaint is this. Home Shield would tell me to call Sears and I called Sears but they didn’t come for two appointments that they gave me. American Home Shield had gotten one date and then they pacified me. On the first time, they said they would give me the second appointment and they gave me that. Then for the third, I talked to Sears and they gave me the appointment. It was a mess.

    I called Sears and the people at American Home Shield to try to get things going with that but they couldn’t. In fact, they sent some parts here and they said that’s norma but hell, they didn’t even tell me they were sending parts to the house. I thought all the parts had come but then they said the parts hadn’t come. I guess Sears was saying they had ordered them but they didn’t tell American Home Shield that either. There is a big communication breakdown.

    When I called American Home Shield, they couldn’t even escalate the call. At that time, I had been waiting for Sears and they were supposed to come between 8:00 and noon but in the system where American Home Shield was looking, it said 1:00 to 5:00. Then Sears didn’t even come at all and they didn’t call me. American Home Shield didn’t call me either. It was past frustrating because I was sitting here and I had other things to do and yet nobody called me. I told the lady that I make $59.13 an hour. Who’s gonna pay me that for two days? No one is.

    I haven’t been able to cook since my first call but they got my $75 on both things real fast. I just wanted Sears to come and turn the stove off – and I told them that – because that’s the only thing I had in the house with gas. Sears told me to call the gas people but the gas people didn’t do it when they came here. A man was here today to fix some of the things. But no one had called me except for the call I got last night from Sears. It was a recording saying someone would be out here between 8:00 and noon. That was the only way I knew because I answered my home phone. Had I not answered my home phone, I probably wouldn’t have gotten the recording saying that I was scheduled for the fix.

    The stove is 32 years old. American Home Shield is trying to fix the stove that they knew they didn’t have the parts for and Sears knew that too. The parts were ordered from somewhere else. The man put on the parts they sent to my house and he could’ve been gone in 15 minutes but he had to go get another part and they didn’t sync. That’s the one that’s leaking the gas.

    I asked what I was supposed to do for cooking and he said he didn’t know. But he had scheduled me for the 17th because they were gonna look for the parts. That kind of stuff is crazy especially when you’ve already paid them on time every month and you haven’t used them. So I bought myself two or three different appliances with the money I paid them. I’ve been with Home Shield for about 14 years and I’m about ready to put a mile between them and me. But I am looking for some type of restitution from them. They need to send that $75 back.

    I had talked to three different ladies at American Home Shield and the last one I talked to promised to call me back because she was trying to escalate it. But she couldn’t give me an escalation number. I also told her I already got the place. I looked it up myself. When people are asking you questions like that and you can’t give them out, that’s really crazy. I wanted to send a letter to the CEO and see if he’s gonna refund me for my two days off.

    I had no air conditioning and the contractor was out the following Monday after I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. So, it took half a business day because they were here early afternoon. They were awesome and I would use them again. I would recommend them. I am much happier with AHS now than I was the last time we spoke to them but I’m not happy about their Facebook webpage. It prevents people from being informed consumers because if they wanna find out about a company, they don’t wanna sit there and find out the rates nor look at advertisements. They wanna look at people’s comments. All the comments whether negative or positive are embedded in advertisements and if you look at their Facebook page, there’s a bunch of people who say that nobody is responding to them. And if you send them a message, it’s the same thing. You get an automated message but nobody contacts you.

    The homeowner prior to me had an account with American Home Shield and then, we took over. They never had an issue from what I heard and then I never had an issue with AHS. I go on my account online when I submit a claim and it says “Request a service". I push the button and then, I go through the whole information. American Home Shield sends me a message back right away and tells me who they're setting me up with and who the person is who is gonna be coming. Then, I can track them. We’ve had them for a year and we’ve used them twice for an air conditioning and then once for my dishwasher. I’ve had to call in and the contractors came out faster than I expected, which was great. Everything was fixed and done.

    A couple of weeks ago, it was hot outside and we had the upstairs AC on. My husband noticed a bit of noise but then when he turned the AC back on again when the gentleman was here, the noise wasn’t there. It seems to be running just fine. It didn’t stop working but there was a noise coming out of it. Then, my husband turned it on the other day to check and there’s still no noise coming from it. The gentleman said it’d probably be better if we record the noise when we’re running it on a hot day. Because it was a cooler day, we couldn’t hear it and it wasn’t running for very long. We could call them when it’s hotter and it is making that noise because they can’t figure out what it is if it’s not running. We were looking to also probably call them back for a service.

    Home Shield was very professional and nice in assisting me because it was my first time making a call. They were very helpful with that. I really like the service. When Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery came out the first time, they had to order some parts so it took three days to get the part, and then about an hour for them to do the installation. I'm very satisfied with that. My mom was there. She doesn’t like people when they come around and I’m not home, but they were very nice and she wasn’t fearful of them. They were very professional so she was at ease with them.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for several years and I’ve been very satisfied with them. There are certain items where they don’t have a contractor that’s signed up with them so you have to go outside and find somebody on your own. But in most cases, if you live close to a metro area, there’s somebody that can come out and service. Recently, I contacted them for a seasonal checkup and they referred me to Blizzard Air. They came, checked everything out, and had new filters put in. The guy did a great job. He was very personable and explained everything he was doing.

    We've had had two claims with Home Shield since we’ve been here. We had one right when we moved in. During the first week, the washing machine broke out and we got that fixed. That was really seamless. The most recent was for our fridge. It was still operating but when we pulled it out, the back was wet and rusted and something was wrong with it. The contractor had to come out and it went really smoothly. They verified it was still an existing technical problem that happens with some models. They used to have a repair kit for it, but they don’t repair them anymore. They just warranty them. They called in the warranty and we're getting a new fridge. I took the cash option and I submitted our receipt over email.

    I had a leak from a drain in the bathroom and it didn’t take the technician very long to be scheduled after I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. They gave me the name of the company and I called them. The contractor repaired it the same day and did a good job. I was satisfied with the service. I found American Home Shield on my own and we used them for one year but we switched our warranty away from them because their price was extremely high for a renewal. I called them and what they offered was very minimum.

    When I had just bought my house, everyone had told me getting a home warranty was a good idea. However, being with AHS has been an up and down situation. When there was a plumbing issue with the water pressure in the garbage disposal, submitting my claim was a headache because of the whole COVID thing. I was on the phone for the first time for an hour and 30 minutes. The lady put me on hold and then I was disconnected. When I called back, I couldn’t even reach a person. I submitted the claim automated, then I had to call back for the add-on. The wait times were kinda ridiculous. But it’s usually not this much of a headache to file a claim.

    I filed the claim on Friday and I was told that someone was gonna call me. The contractor called me on Sunday and they were out by Monday, which was fast. He changed the garbage disposal because it was cracked on the side and broken. He also added something because the pressure was too high, which was why it was making so much noise.

    I had a hot water heater that failed and the contractor, Donnell Plumbing & Heating, called me within 45 minutes of submitting the claim to American Home Shield. We arranged our schedules and the rep came out when it was good for me. So, he was very good. He did a fantastic job, were in and out and made no mess. I’d highly recommend them. AHS did great on this but I have a boiler that has failed, and I’ve had two or three people that were no shows or didn’t show up and didn’t call. AHS sent someone different and then they didn’t have someone. It has been going on since January. So, one of the claims went perfectly but there is absolutely nothing getting done with the other.

    We've gotten good service with American Home Shield and so we've had them for about a year or two. Recently, the washing machine was leaking and AHS was very good about the response. I made a phone call. Their operation set up a date for the contractor to call. Universal 1 Repair called and came out and looked at it. The guy took about 10 seconds. He turned the water on and it started coming out right from the bottom. He said it would probably be more expensive to repair it than replace it and we took a regular exchange. We got what we expected. We're happy.

    It always seems that we need to schedule things when it's odd hours, so I figured it's easier to do service orders online. One time, something got caught in the garbage disposal and it backed the pipe up and popped the whole pipe under the sink out. Lake Plumbing came and they were there right on time when they said they were. Within seconds, they knew what the problem was and they fixed it very quickly. We were very impressed. I was recommended to American Home Shield from a friend that I really trust, and so far, we've enjoyed the service. We recommended it to a few people that were looking as well.

    American Home Shield has responded to my needs each time. I’ve had about three calls for them and they have fixed whatever it was each time. They’ve done those well with no hassles. I’m very positive towards American Home Shield. I had an issue with the microwave blowing a fuse every time I tried to turn it on and the technician had to make three trips to get it right but he did it. He wasn’t a conversationalist, which was fine. He was good. The first time, he thought he had it fixed because he changed a part in it so he left. But the second time I used the microwave after that, it did the same thing again. So he had to come back. But when he came back, he didn’t have the right parts so he had to come back again and it got fixed then.

    The main reason we kept Home Shield is that we have an older AC but I don't think they were going to continue servicing the older units so we canceled. We had to pay $100 per pound of Freon every year in order to get it up to speed and we were continually paying for several pounds every year because there was a leak or the system wasn't working. They weren't really taking care of the core problem. But for the most part, all the contractors they worked with were fantastic. There was only one company that I had concerns with. That was a hard situation to deal with, but the rest of the AC companies were fantastic. Those guys really knew their stuff and were very nice. I trusted them coming in and out of the house. But I didn't have enough service calls other than the AC in order to constitute keeping their warranty.

    When I bought my home, American Home Shield was who the seller picked and then I renewed it for another year with them. I submitted a claim over the phone because I did not know about the online option. I did not have an account set up, so it was after I spoke to the gentleman and did the claims over the phone that I was able to log in and track where the process is on the claim. It was super awesome. So, you can see the repair technicians that have been assigned to you, what days they were coming, and if they already came. It is like a step-by-step in the online thing. They have a fast service -- I did not think it was going to be as quick. I also thought that it would take a couple of weeks for somebody could come out, but it took literally days before somebody did and the whole issue was fixed in like two weeks. It was fabulous.

    We submitted a claim to AHS because there was 12-feet of solid sludge all the way to the street. The contractors that AHS sent got their stuff hung up, so we had to hire a private contractor and it cost me about $3,000. With that little incident, it left a bad taste. There were some loopholes there about coverage that we weren’t aware of that came about. But when we went back to the book and read it, what it was saying as leak, the wording, is misleading. So, it contradicts itself in one section to the other.

    Out of everybody we’ve researched so far, AHS offers a little bit more than what the other ones do. The other ones offer but when we call them, they talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk. But AHS really needs to talk to their customers and say, “What is it that you’re really looking for from a warranty? What can we do to better the company?” We’re paying a pretty good chunk of change to have the warranty.

    One of our neighbors had an issue with her water heater and she thought it was under a warranty, but it turned out they didn't have one. They had to pay several thousand dollars for it. I checked because I thought we were under a warranty too but we weren't. We went ahead and signed up with American Home Shield in October and I'm very glad we did.

    They sent us National Platinum Service when our dryer stopped working. I made that claim online on a late Friday and it was very easy. American Home Shield said that once the claim was submitted, I would hear something in 24 hours. Naively, I was hoping for Saturday but it wasn't until Monday that National Platinum called us and got it situated. They called us first thing that day. A tech came and replaced a part. That guy was really great. He let me know he was gonna be here a few minutes ahead of time, showed up, and it didn't take him more than 20 minutes to get everything done.

    In the four or five years we've had AHS, I've liked how they come out and get the job done. However, their contractors have been 50-50. For some, if they feel the job is too complicated, they rather write it off as unfixable or say it's my fault so they won't have to worry about it and they wanna just leave and go onto the next job. With others, they knew what they're doing and they don't complain. They just come in and do the best they can. Still, their contractors can improve the quality of their workmanship. I've had to call for the same job again that I called for less than 30 days ago. For three of my four items, I had to call back to get things re-fixed. I want things done correctly the first time.

    American Home Shield is quick to respond to let me know they received my claim even if they don't have the exact details yet. A technician will be in touch with us and it’s usually within 24 to 48 hours at the latest, that we get someone out here. They were very thorough and professional. I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the technicians that have come out there. Accord Appliance kept in touch with me on a claim for an appliance issue.     We have been with American Home Shield since the year 2000 but there may have been a year or so we were not with them. When I can get someone on the phone, submitting a claim seems like it goes quicker. AHS helps offset some things and that is helpful but then, with other things, it’s disappointing. When we had air conditioning and hot water heater issues, they did those well but sometimes, they were not so great. I had a refrigerator in the house about two years ago and it took about five months to get the refrigerator fixed. So, that wasn’t good. Then finally, we said that we would get someone to fix it if they would just reimburse it because it took so long. That was a hard time.

    We just moved into a house and the day after we moved in, we started having massive plumbing issues but American Home Shield has not covered any of that, so that has been disappointing and very frustrating. They sent someone quickly though, which was good. But it was about $2,500 worth of repairs and they haven't helped with that. A few years ago, we had an air conditioning problem and AHS covered most of that. Then, in the early 2000s, we had a hot water heater problem which happened on Thanksgiving morning and it took about two weeks to get it fixed, but they covered it all. So, there are pros and cons.

    I had the contractor come out twice to fix my refrigerator and it’s still doing the same thing. The water was dripping down from somewhere when it comes in from the outlet and it turns to ice after a while. They came out and put a new piece onto something. That lasted two weeks and the water doesn't come out again. If it can’t be repaired, they need to say that and I wouldn’t have to keep paying for them to come out to do it. To have them do the same thing and it's not fixed, then I just wasted money. I have to pay $100 every time they come out, so I can buy another refrigerator after a few of those.

    I had another company and they came out and did the same thing. The other one was a little worse than this one. At least, they took everything apart and thought they fixed what was wrong, which didn’t happen. Still, I had another problem with my dishwasher, and that’s fixed. I recommended American Home Shield to somebody else and they got it as well.

I had it diagnosed earlier, so he had the part with him. He went up there, changed the capacitor within 15 minutes and confirmed that the part was broken. The contractor came out, looked at the hot water heater and told us that it needed to be replaced, which we somewhat knew because it was leaking.     The young guy who came for my door was very nice and professional. He knew what he was doing and didn’t have to call anyone for help. He was pretty efficient as far as what he had to do. The issue was the rollers on our door and the chain system that pulls the door up. He had to replace the two garage doors springs. All in all, he took about an hour and a half to fix the problem, which was very good for what he had to do. You can lose a finger real quickly when working with the garage door springs. There was a lot of tension on them. My wife and I love AHS. We’ve used the service a couple of times and haven’t had any unsatisfied situations where they came in and did something that didn’t turn out. They do a very good job and we’re happy with them.

    When I first bought this house, my heat and air unit had leaked and Mr. Coleman was the first person AHS sent out here. Not only did he tell me what was wrong with it, but he also fixed it. He did it in more than a timely manner. He came out after he had finished all the other jobs just because he knew I was having a house-warming party. When he called to schedule it up, I told him I couldn’t do it at the time they wanted because of the house-warming. Mr. Coleman, the owner, himself came that night and fixed my AC. He rigged it to get us through until we could afford to put a new one in. Not only did it hold for the entire summer, but it also held up for almost the entire winter.

    When it started not being able to heat, I called AHS and they sent somebody else out, which was fine. The contractor told me that my unit was low in Freon and that it was gonna take about 15 pounds. I was told that AHS would not authorize using the mixed gas. All we were allowed to use was the R22, which was $200 a pound. And AHS would only pay around $20 out of the whole thing.

    I’m not a heat and air guy, but my neighbor has been doing it for 25 years. I called her and she said to tell the people to just leave the house. I did exactly what she told me. Then I called Mr. Coleman who told me the same thing and that he would come to check my unit for me. I said that I'd have to call AHS back. He said that he has dealt with me before and that he'd look at my unit without any charge because he knew I was an honorable man.

    AHS called me back and told me that they could send somebody else out because I wasn’t happy. When they called me back, my neighbor was talking to me and she ended up talking to them. AHS replaced my unit and sent Mr. Coleman out to replace it. My neighbor said to be prepared that the repair was gonna take about six hours. Mr. Coleman showed up and disconnected the unit. He had his guys show up about 30 minutes later and they disconnected my unit, pulled it out, put the new one in, and had it running in less than two and a half hours.

    When I switched over from my heat to the air, it continued to blow hot air. My neighbor said it sounded like the transfer valve or switch valve was not switching over. When I talked to Mr. Coleman's secretary, I told her what my neighbor told me. She told Mr. Coleman and he sent one of his technicians out here. They called me to ask me if I could do it in a couple of days because they were swamped up. They then called me right back and said asked if they could come the next day. One of the guys said he’d come by on his way home from the job. He came here, put the thermostat on, and bam, my heat and air unit came right back on.

    I would recommend Mr. Coleman and his crew to anybody. He and his crew are the only people that I want to come to my house. We’ll even unlock my door for him or his team even if we're not here. They are above and beyond reproach. They treat people with dignity and respect. They know how to deal with you and do whatever they can to help you. They are an outstanding company.

    My wife and I are both are disabled veterans. AHS and Mr. Coleman really look out for us. I volunteered with a company and help veterans get their disability. Mr. Coleman told me that with or without insurance, to give him a call if I have a veteran who is having problems with their heat or air. He will work with the veteran, even if he had to replace the entire unit.

    I’m glad we got AHS. I’m going to trust them. They will do what they say. Some things, I don’t agree with, but for what I get, I’m okay with it. And I have been really impressed with them so far, however, they keep taking money out of my account. I have been on it for two years and I’m going to renew next year. And I'm going to pay in advance as long as they continue to give me the discount. It's $1,400 a year as long as I keep it up instead of $2,600.

    So far, I’ve only used AHS once and I had a very good experience with my refrigerator. They handled it excellently. The contractors came sooner than I expected. I called them on a Thursday and my refrigerator was making a loud rattling or vibrating noise, and I was afraid it was gonna stop working. And then they called and said someone just cancelled and they could come tomorrow morning. I said that’s great ‘cause I’m worried. That’s my only source of fresh food and I’m 74 years old, so I try not to go out any more than I have to.

    The contractor came. He had to pull the refrigerator out from the wall but he found it was some kind of a stand on the bottom that he said, “It’s hitting up against the housing. All I need to do is pull it back and adjust it.” And while he was back there, he said he noticed my water line going up to the ice maker is slightly leaking. But that’s not covered under the refrigerator maintenance. It has to be actually part of the refrigerator, which to me, is part of it, otherwise, your ice maker doesn’t work if there’s no water to it.

    He said no. I have to call a plumber for that, a different call. So, I was a little disappointed in that. But I asked him if he just shut it off then because I don’t really need the ice, and he did do that for me. He traced the line and found the shut-off valve out. Other than that, it was a very good experience. The contractor did it very quickly, kept his distance and wore gloves. He was out of here in 20 minutes. I was happy to pay the service fee and at least get the refrigerator working.

    I just moved in here in January and when they did the home inspection, they weren’t able to test the air conditioner because they said they can’t turn it on because it can damage the system. So, when it gets warmer, I’m just hoping that it’s gonna work okay because it wasn’t able to be tested. But, it’s covered. At least I know I’ve got that comfort. But the heat has been fine, so hopefully, the air conditioner will do the same. So far, I’m very happy with AHS. It’s a good warranty.

    We bought our place last November and we had some problems with a couple of the outlets on one circuit, and the electrician AHS sent took care of it. There were a couple of loose wires and old plugs. He was awesome. He was right on time and was actually quite quick. He took some time and talked about some potential other jobs and some improvements I may wanna do to the place once the virus and everything else shakes out. I’m still kind of getting used to the claimining process. I may have another issue coming up with outside pipe plumbing. The stem shields are leaking. But I’m not sure it’s worth $75 to have somebody come out and call and do it. I may just do it myself if I'm not doing anything.

    American Home Shield sent two different guys for a plumbing claim because when the first guy came he still had to order a part, but he took care of all the issues that he could. And then, as soon as I got the part I called and then the other guy came the next day. It was all excellent. The only issue I have is that the service call fee has gone up over the years. And for a while there, they were doing some pretty ridiculous stuff. The float thing on the toilet that I had on another property broke and they said that I broke it deliberately and they didn’t cover it, so I had to pay full cost on that repair, plus they still charged the $75 service fee. In general, though, that was the only bad issue I had experienced with them.

    When I filed my claim, AHS said that they were sending me the email where they were providing the person who was coming to repair. They said that I could talk to the contractor in the morning and gave me my claim number. When I called the contractor, they said that they could schedule the repair. They immediately came off on Monday. My heat in the home was not working and when they came in, they went on top to check it. Some of the system was not good and some of the tubes were not working. So, they replaced it.

    I bought a place, and the lady had all these keys and I could not find the right keys for the locks. There were six locks and they had different keys, and so I wanted someone to come out and make one key or two keys for everything instead of all these other keys that did not make any sense. And then, one of the locks wasn’t working right. The call went well. The guy from Pop-A-Lock came out and he fixed whatever he had to fix. He was a nice young fellow, and he reset the locks that he could -- there was one he could not do anything with. He would have to replace the whole lock, but I don’t use that door much, so I told him to forget it. But, everything else was fine.

    I moved out here in ’98 and I bought American Home Shield shortly after that. And then, I had them at my condo when I sold the house. I have them now that I have the manufactured home. I like that when something is wrong, I call and somebody comes out right away. They replaced a lot of things when I had the house and they fixed a few things when I had the condo, and I never had any problems. So, I am satisfied.

    I've been with American Home Shield for four years and everything’s been pretty prompt and seamless. When I’ve had an issue I’ve called, and they send someone. The contractors are really good. I had a really good plumber recently. But it hasn’t been clear in the contract what they’ll cover or what they won’t so I would like a little more clarity because the system uses the old Freon, and I’m wondering if they are they going to cover to keep it going. I’ve been paying this whole time for the service with the idea that some of the warranty would cover the replacement cost. I looked at the contract recently and it seems a little subjective as to what they would cover.

    The sink was leaking and Steven A. Mills Plumbing determined that it needed a part underneath, which was attached to the food disposal unit. It was so rusted that no matter what the tech did, he could not seal it. So, we had to replace it. He handled the repair in a very professional manner and very quickly too.     I had to get a new heating system put in and had to get a loan for it because AHS didn't pay the amount of money to fix the part that was broken. They don't pay for the Freon, so it is gonna be a big out-of-pocket expense. The warranty was paid for in full for a home for a year and we also have one on my husband. I know how much it costs every month and it's ridiculous that AHS is not paying as much as the consumer. They should be paying out more money.

    I've got a Realtor who said that they work with AHS all the time. They said that it's absolutely easier to get more out of AHS. You just have to be more difficult with them, which is not very fair because the average person doesn't know that. I realize Freon is expensive, but there's no reason why that all shouldn't be covered under the warranty. And if that wasn't the kind of warranty that I bought, they should've told me that so that I could have paid for the one that I wanted.

    The contractors that AHS sent for our washing machine were very professional. The person who came out to check on the machine to see what was wrong with it was very courteous, very professional and he diagnosed the problem. He advised us as to what the situation was and what probably was gonna be our best options to pursue, and then he took that information back to AHS, who then followed up with us. And then following what his suggestion was, we ended up replacing the washer. It could have even cost more to repair than it was to get a different washer. And then, they took care of that within a short period of time, it was just only about a week, and we had a new washing machine and everything's fine.

    We had a whole group of electrical plugs not working and we couldn’t figure it out. My wife called American Home Shield and they said we pay them $80 and they would get an electrician out. The call lasted about 10 minutes. We paid $80 and the electrician came out. He was able to fix it very quickly and efficiently.     I file my claims online and it is very easy to do. It's pretty self-explanatory. I've had them for about three years and the only gripe I have is that when the contractors come out, they always come out to kinda see what’s going on, and then they reschedule to come out and fix or do service. So I have to take off of work twice to get the repairs done. If they're gonna come out Monday to see what’s going on, and then they have to order the part, and that could take a week or more. Then they come back and I would take off work again. Also, the availability is always at weird times and they never have weekends. But in the long run, having this service definitely saves you high expenses in the end. So it's a pretty good service.

    We had AHS ages ago when we lived in Northern Virginia, but the premiums were just ridiculous for a small townhouse and we let it go because there wasn’t anything we couldn’t handle that broke in there. My neighbors in Northern Virginia also had AHS and were absolutely in love with the fact that when something broke, it was covered, especially with both of them on disability. When we bought our new home, which is huge, down here in Southwestern Virginia, we signed up with them specifically because we have two water heaters, two HVAC systems, two refrigerators, and two freezers. It’s a 4000 square-foot house for two units. It has six bedrooms, 4 baths. We needed to have that coverage if something happened. Getting AHS is a great financial decision, especially in today’s economy. It takes the worry out of making sure your things are repaired.

    When I filed a claim for a gas furnace, the gentleman who did the work was wonderful. However, they had to order a part, which took a bit to get in. But it would have taken a bit to get the part in no matter what because it was something unusual. That was in the middle of one of our coldest times and it was snowing. We got no space heaters from them. I scrounged from my parents and my family just to have heaters to heat the house so that it was livable. My parents don't have AHS and when their furnace was out, the company that did the furnace brought in space heaters that were safe to keep the house warm. When I called AHS, they said that they were getting it as fast as they could. They also said that they changed to gas because cause I put it in as a heating claim. It cost me 125, which was wonderful because the part was outrageous.

    The contractor who came was a good guy. He was in here for about half an hour, which I was totally satisfied with. He checked the AC outside first, and then he came in and checked it inside. Then he ran it through a couple of cycles to see how it would run. He said that whatever he had replaced had been the problem. A transistor had burnt out in it. We’ve also had times when people have had to come out and look at the air. One time, two guys came and replaced the whole drive motor inside. They had to literally take the AC apart to fix that. Then one other time, we had this one guy come out and he just recharged the AC. I like that AHS does what they said they’re gonna do.

    They have proven to us at least four times that if we have a problem, they would send someone and that our major appliances are indeed covered. They don't necessarily get somebody out instantly, but they get contractors out within a day or two. They’ve sent out somebody for the stove twice and they’ve worked on the refrigerator and I've had some kind of a deal with the oven. The repairs get done and they last.

    There was a time when my garbage disposal would just hum. It wouldn't work. I submitted a claim online to AHS and shortly after, their contractor, Leak Seekers came to handle my issue. The tech was very thorough. I told him that I had put an Allen wrench up under the garbage disposal to see if the flywheel was stuck and found that it spun freely. I hit the reset button and it still just hummed. He told me that he tried the same thing. He said the motor of the machine is gone and that it needed to be replaced. He replaced it that same day and now things are working great. Sometimes AHS is good and other times they're not. There are times when I call them and they say they don't cover my issue. I had a water heater done one time and I had to pay 500 'cause the tech said he had to bring my unit up to code. I was miffed about that. Still, having their warranty is convenient.

    We've been with Home Shield since we've owned this house. We got here in 2015. And then when we owned a house in Tennessee, we had Home Shield there the whole time too. That was another five years so, 10 years total. American Home Shield did their job. They all sent somebody out here, but it was just the people that were sent out. We called to try to get it figured out while the guy was still here, and he was being told from whoever it was from American Home Shield that that wasn't their problem.

    The problem was Amin Maintenance kept having to fix the same thing. The guy that came out the last time fixed it and said, “Well, if this doesn’t work, it's because your vent is clogged up.” I was like, “Okay. What do we do?” There was little guidance given on it. And then it broke again, and he came out and checked it and it was the same thing - it was the vent. And then, he pretty much just said, “Well, y’all gotta have this vent cleaned up.” We had no clue how to do any of that so we ended up buying a couple of different things. We spent money on it to try to get it fixed it and finally we found the right one. I'm disabled. I had to climb on top of the house and run it down to clear the vent out, and it seems to be working now. I just don’t understand why that wasn't the first thing that was done. The guy kept saying it wasn’t his job to clean it out, and I understand that, but he just kept letting it break and letting us having to call.

    If someone comes out and it's broken, he should check all areas and say, "Just let me know." That way, we know there could be something else. Because when somebody comes out and they say they're gonna fix something, I have no choice but to trust that they're doing the right thing. If I knew how to fix it, I would have just did it myself. The last guy seemed like he knew what was going on, but he wasn’t willing to tell anybody what was going on. He didn’t tell us about the vent until the third time he came out and fixed it that that was the problem.

    The guy who came out before him was more knowledgeable about what was going on. What happened with that was the belt came off of them once. There was another guy that came out and fixed it one time, but then it broke again, but there was a tension pulley that was messed up that he missed. But he was open and explained everything to us that he was having some issues with his wife who was getting sick, so I requested to have somebody else come out because he said that he wasn’t gonna have that much time to do anything. When the new guy came out, he seemed like he was a nice guy, but he didn’t explain anything. Or maybe he didn’t know. It was more likely he just didn’t know, so he waited until the third time to tell me, “Hey, someone has to clean this vent out and there's nothing we can do about it.”

    American Home Shield has done everything well except with the problem on my sink. The serviceman has been out twice, and he has to come back a third time because the part he ordered didn’t work. He had to go back and order the actual sink part that was leaking. But he had to take pictures and all of that before he could send it back to American Home Shield. Their contractors are good but with their procedure, it seems like a waste of money to pay a plumber to come out that many times when one trip can solve it all. It would have been simple if instead of wasting money on a part, they'd just replace it. I did get a call from American Home Shield once. They told me to take a picture and send it to them so they could look at it. But they didn’t ask me to do it this time. Other than that, their service is absolutely fine.

    I have been a customer for almost 4 years. I have used American Home Shield several times in the past with no major issues. Today I called to report my air conditioning was not working. They gave me the name of a company that cannot make it to my home until sometime Tuesday. That is about 5 days without air conditioning in Florida. I called to request another company that is in their network which has been sent to my home before by AHS. They told me they could not change companies.

    I called back and asked to speak with a supervisor because they have changed companies in the past for me. I was put on hold for 50 minutes before a supervisor came to assist. He still would not change companies and put me on hold for another 25 minutes and that supervisor would still not assist me. I work in customer service and would never put someone on hold for 50 minutes or more. The company I am requesting is an American Home Shield company. Very poor customer service for a loyal paying customer.

    Called last week about my hot water heater leaking, and they sent a plumber to check it the next day. The plumber didn’t have the part so he plug the boiler valve somehow and left. Less than two hours later it was pouring water. I had to wait until Monday for him to come back out. Hot water heater is still pouring. I had called HSW. They said they would send another company. Wrong. Got the same guy. In short they hung up on me twice, and now a week and a half later it still hasn’t been repaired! I still have to pay 880.00 to get it replaced because they just pay for the water heater and not installation????

    Home Shield usually answered if I needed. I can call them and in a couple of hours, somebody would call me and make an appointment with me. However, I’ve been having issues with my air conditioner and what they said was they were supposed to replace it, and the people that came give me quotes for new systems. I don’t understand that. But other than that, the guy from All American Plumbing and Rooter was really good. He was the only one that came and told me exactly what was wrong with my drain because I’ve had several people come in and the only thing that they did was plunge it. On the other hand, that guy showed me that there was a buildup of soap and he went in and started chiselling it out. Also, he did what he was supposed to do. He did a great job.

    I’m divorced and it’s just me and I’m not as handy around the house. When I got talking to my aunt, she recommended that I should try Home Shield and I did. It’s so easy to do my claims online. You don’t have to sit there and wait on hold forever to put in a claim. Once you submit it online, somebody calls you back. I’m really pleased with the turnaround time when somebody gets back to me.     Our fridge went out. We called right away when it went down that first time, and Noble Appliance Repair came out right away too. They evaluated the problem, ordered the part, and came back with it shortly thereafter. They then put the part in. It was running fine for a few days, and then it quit again. I called to have him return, but he was out of town. American Home Shield could not find anybody to come and help us too. They asked me to see if I could find somebody on my own. I would have to pay the contractor and the home warranty company would reimburse me. However, I could not find anybody that would want to work with AHS. It was too much hassle. So, I ended up having to wait for Noble to come back. We were out another whole week before the tech could come. It was very inconvenient, and we had to put our stuff in coolers.

    The contractor then went back there, evaluated it all and got it fixed again. The unit has been working fine since he was here. So, I was very pleased with the work of the guy from Noble. As far as AHS is concerned, on the other hand, I’m very disappointed in having to pay a deductible of $100, and then having to try to find my own repairman and being compensated not at all for that. American Home Shield’s inability to find somebody for me to repair that in a timely manner when it went out the second time was very discouraging. I asked them for a partial refund, even on my deposit, which I thought was only fair since I was doing their job for them, but they ignored me on that subject. The two people I talked to did not reply. I worked at a call center for 15 years and that was incredibly unprofessional to leave me in blank space for several minutes without saying a word.

    I’ve read a lot of online reviews about different companies before I chose American Home Shield, and what I can add to it is that it’s very easy to do. You get online and you click request service, and then within that day or maybe the next morning, somebody will be in touch with you, and there’s an appointment set up.

    They work really well with you, and they give you notice to get home if you have to be at work, and then you can get home to be there while they’re there. Recently, we had some outlets that weren’t working. Ideal Electric fixed them. Overall we have been really happy with everything. We’ve had at least three or four claims and everybody has been quick and everything’s been great.

    I’ve really liked working with American Home Shield, except on my plumbing. I had a plumber come out and he should have replaced stuff that he didn't replace. And when I called American Home Shield, I ended up not being able to get those parts replaced. Other than that, I’ve had a deal on my washing machine. It was great. Just recently, our freezer was freezing over. It would sweat, and then, everything in there would freeze up and then it quit working. It took a few days before the techs came out and they weren’t able to give me an upgrade. But other than that, the whole experience was really pretty good. AHS reps were super-nice.     I've had Home Shield for five to six years. I have four accounts, not just one. We called Home Shield because the dryer wasn’t drying and then when the contractor left, not only did it not dry, there was a noise like something was loose in it. It started doing that. The contractor was good that first time. When I submitted the claim on the phone the second time, I told Home Shield I didn’t want the contractor to come back, but Home Shield said they needed to come back because they would have to charge me another $100 if the same person didn’t. For my personal home was the one I said not to come back. I told them, “I’m not paying a $100. Send them back.”

    And then when he came back, he was really rude. They do regular maintenance, but they don't do things that require regular maintenance. We would have to call his company directly for regular maintenance. But it wasn’t the maintenance. It was that he came to fix one thing, then what he fixed didn’t work, and then he broke something. I called in for another repair but I told Home Shield I didn’t want to use them for another house, then somebody else came. I kept renewing for the service. But the problem is, for two places, I always got Foster’s because of the location. The last time they came to my other home, it was the same thing - they had to come back. It was the same guy. So, he had to come back twice.

    The motor and the whirlpool tub in the master bathroom was not working. The kid from Aqua-Brite was incredible. His communication was so great. It took him three trips because of the parts, but he was great. We also had to call AHS for the garbage disposal and the company told us that they were gonna come in the morning. It was a Saturday so their office was closed and we had no direct contact with anybody ‘cause we only had an office number and nobody gave us who the technician was.

    We were waiting at this vacant house all day and he didn’t show up till about 4:30. The office didn’t communicate to us the correct time but the guy that did the disposal was awesome. My mom loves the peace of mind that American Home Shield gives. The claims submission is very easy. She has used this home as a rental. So, if there’s something that goes on with the tenant there, it’s just a really easy phone call. She knows it's gonna be $75 and it’s gonna be taken care of.

    We've been in this house for 17 years and we've had Home Shield almost that whole time. They're fast. Also, I have liked almost all of their contractors. We've used a few and they've been pretty good. We've only had one contractor that was resistant to what we needed, and everyone else has been great. Now, you almost don't have to talk to anybody. It's all automated. However this last time that I called them for a plumber it would have been nice to talk to someone and ask them to send out a specific company, but I didn't have that choice. Other than that, everyone I've talked to or dealt with at Home Shield has been good.

    My ice maker quit working. I called AHS and filing was easy. I told them what I needed done and they took care of it. They called and they told me who was gonna be coming out and gave me a phone number. They told me the contractors would call me, and the contractors called me the same day and set up an appointment. The Intermountain Appliance Repair guy was really nice. The guy that came out was very, very personable, and he knew what he was doing. He did a great job.     I had an electric issue and AHS sent out #1 Garage Door to complete my order. I was very pleased with them. They were very professional and there was no attempt at trying to upsell for things that I did not need. They also addressed the problem honestly. The tech fixed the problem right away, which was what the very first person that came out should have done. That other company straight up lied when they came out. Their tech would not even look at the garage door opener when he came in. He immediately tried to act like I needed $450 worth of work on my door. He told me that within five minutes and when I told him that hadn't even looked at the opener, he said that he didn't need to look at it. He said that he saw all the issues with the door. So, I told him he could leave.

    AHS then sent me a new company out for a second opinion. Unfortunately, I told their tech what the other company did. So, he followed suit. He said it was my door and he also did some adjustments on my opener. But he went the same route trying to upcharge me things with my door. But my opener was purchased in 2004, so it was definitely an opener issue. It was shorting and the motor was wearing out because it was old. So, I had to pay out of my own pocket to have an independent company here locally that I trusted come and check my door. And they said that my door was fine and there was nothing wrong with the box of my door. They said that it was my opener that was failing because the motor was failing.

    After that, I called American Home Shield to cancel my policy and a kind lady by the name of Valerie in retention begged me to let them send a third company out to try and make it right. She was phenomenal and it was very nice dealing with her. But I was hesitant because I was really aggravated. This has taken a lot of my time off work meeting these people and it took a lot of phone calls with AHS. It was a lot of stress all the way around but I agreed to let somebody come out.

    And when the tech from #1 Garage Door came, he said that my garage door opener needed to be repaired or replaced, and American Home Shield would cover that. Then he replaced it that night. But the next day, I got a text from him saying that American Home Shield was denying the claim because it had already been denied twice and nobody should have come out for a third time. So, there were some wires crossed between retention setting that third appointment up and their approval department. And even though my garage door was fixed, it added an additional couple of stress for me between the company telling me that they weren't getting paid by American Home Shield and me trying to reach somebody in American Home Shield, until I finally got ahold of Valerie in retention again who had set everything up. She worked behind the scenes to ensure that it was covered.

    At this point, the only person and the only department that I was really pleased with, as far as the way that my claim was handled is concerned, was Valerie in retention. Based on my experience, the customer service from all the other numbers of AHS leaves a lot to be desired. This is true from all the phone calls I had to make, the people in approvals, my experience in trying to find the right department, and the lack of English-speaking, understanding or even desire to bring my problems further up of their reps. AHS also needs to stop contracting with the two other companies that they sent out for my last claim.

    Even though we've not used Home Shield a lot, it’s a really wonderful service to have. We have the warranty on all of our homes and we've recommended them to at least another five people who have joined since we’ve done it. We send claims in online and when the toilet was leaking, Northwest Sundance Services came out. The technician was terrific. He was on time, clean and friendly. He took care of the issue and we've had no leaks since.

    But we had another plumbing issue that we would have liked to have had been resolved while he was there. However, because of the way American Home Shield is set up, he could not do it. We have a kitchen faucet that we’re not sure if it needs replacing. It hasn’t failed yet so it doesn’t qualify under the service. But it’s gonna fail so we had already bought a replacement faucet waiting. Still, he couldn’t install it because of the rules.

    We're not saying that they give it to us for free either. We just wish American Home Shield could even allow the guy, on the same call, to give a reasonable bid as opposed to starting from scratch and having to rebook it completely, providing he would have had the time to make the change, which he did because the toilet repair was such a quick repair. It seems like it would help save time for technicians as well. In fact, he would’ve been happy to do it and we had this faucet right there. It probably wouldn’t have taken him any time at all.

    Even previous to the toilet claim, we had Three Sons come out and work on the disposal and the faucet. But the technician said he couldn’t do the faucet. We had it sitting there and when asked if we could pay him to do it, he said we wouldn't wanna pay him to do it. He pulled up in his book and it was gonna be like $600. That’s what they wanted to be paid. It would be nice if there was little more flexibility in the process. The contractor had allotted the time because they were gonna come fix two things and they couldn't do one. Plus we already paid the $100 for the service call through American Home Shield but for whatever reason, the contractors said they couldn’t change the faucet out. Now, we gotta go find a plumber to go through with it.

    My recent claim regarding the dishwasher was fine. It was handled really well and they fixed the issue. I've had AHS for a long time and it seems they sold their company and there have been some communication issues now since that happened. I'm having a harder time. Sometimes when I call, the reps are good when the items can be repaired, but I had a microwave issue where they couldn’t find the part and AHS had to give me money or a catalog that I had to pick an item from and that was a really slow process. And when I called that number, I had to wait an hour on the phone, and then every time I had to call back, it was another hour wait. So, I'm fine when AHS does the initial thing and get it resolved, but it seems like once it goes beyond that, it can become a nightmare.

    My HVAC system wasn't heating or cooling. The guy came out here the first time and said that there were some loose wires in there and in the thermostat. Then it wasn't heating or cooling again. He took off the Nest and said that there were two wires that weren't together. They've done what they said and fixed the problem. Now, it works great.     The furnace upstairs was constantly running and the thermostat on the wall wasn’t controlling it. I had to go turn the furnace off to keep it from running. I made a claim then the weekend came but the contractor called me immediately the next business day. It was Monday and they wanted to come out Tuesday. They were gonna shut down because of what's going on, but the guy came out. There was a part that looked like it was singed and he took a picture of it. They ordered that part to replace and when they replaced it, it ended up being the control board then they had to order that part and they fixed that. Now, it’s working okay.

We’re coming up on a year with American Home Shield and they’ve been doing great thus far, getting people out and everything. We had quite a few issues there for a minute though. We have two units, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. They had to come out several times for the one downstairs, but everything’s been okay. They've been fixing it.

    One day, we were washing and although the machine was washing, it wasn't drying. When we took the stuff out, we looked and the bottom of the washer just spun. It is one of the new washers and I know that before then, the bottom of the washer was stable. It didn't spin. So it had to be something inside of it that I couldn't see that was messed up. I tried to tighten it myself but it came back loose. I thought it had to be something deep in there that was wrong with it.

    Green's Appliance came out and they were real nice. I showed the guy what the problem was and he told me that he had to take it back to his place to fix. Once he took it apart, he knew. He called me the next day and he explained to me that the issue was some type of motor thing on the inside. So we had to order that motor piece and another screw that would be more stable. I had that washer for four years and he said that sometimes, with the number of times that you wash, that screw gets unstable and doesn't stay tight. He also told me how long the order was gonna take to get in and how long that they were gonna have my washer to get it back to me.

    If anything goes wrong with any appliance in my house, I would like for American Home Shield to get Green's because they were on time. They called me before they came out to pick it up and they kept me abreast of everything they were doing with my washer. They also let me know when the part was in and that they would have my washer to me the next day.

    When I went with American Home Shield, my warranty on my house had just gone out and I knew when I had my other house that it's always good to have a warranty. I've seen American Home Shield's commercial and when I called, the people on the phone were awesome. So I went ahead with them. I had 2-10 and another company before but American Home Shield is prompt. They sent me somebody that was available in the area that fixed the problem the first time, without having to come back two or three times to get it fixed. The problem was fixed the first time and I don't have to worry about anything else about the washer right now.

    I called in for a service order and American Home Shield had to move it from one person to another. The guy ended up contacting me the same day, which was fast and he came the next day. He was very professional. I thought the issue was the thermostat and it wasn’t. He said that some item in the furnace needed declogging.     I had a stoppage in my kitchen sink pipes and we had B&K Plumbing clean out the pipes. The two guys who came in were awesome and they fixed it right up.     We submitted a claim to AHS because the garbage disposal was blocked up and wasn't working. And then it's 19 years old. So, we thought for sure it was broken, but it was just the switch underneath was tripped. It has its own breaker other than the actual electrical box breaker in the house. So, we didn't know about that breaker underneath. The contractor that came out flipped that and then there was just some food lodged in it that caused it to stop and trip. And so, that was the problem. The technician was great.

    I wanted everything covered on a used house and American Home Shield had a comprehensive policy that covered just about everything, while some of the others left some things out. Now, I see there are limitations in the policy, which I understand. All the companies have limitations, but going forward, I’m a little concerned. When I made a claim, the first plumber that came out didn’t know what he was doing and I was upset at first because I was told there was a hard object down my toilet and it was just toilet paper. He didn’t do the right thing with the cleanouts and he scratched up my toilet too. I wasn’t happy about that, but then they sent someone else from the company who knew what he was doing, and he fixed it.

    I’m glad things got fixed, but the first plumber said that the company won’t pay if the toilet needed to be removed. My house is 13 years old, so I’m wondering, if other things go wrong, will they cover things or say no, they’ll only cover part of it? I’ll just see what happens and if they’re good with things, then I’ll renew, especially if they give me a better price and a better copay. Another thing is that American Home Shield is not open on the weekend, and when you have a plumbing issue, you want it expedited. I’m happy with them, but when there’s a plumbing issue, I wanna know that they’ll come out that day or the next day. With certain issues, even if it’s a weekend, expedited should mean that day.

It was something in my son’s sink that just would not pass. We didn’t even know what it was. He said that the snake didn’t go where it was supposed to go because it’s two bathrooms backed up to each other and it was going to the other bathroom. It didn’t do what it was supposed to do.     I was pleased with the work done by the last guy I had an appointment with but I didn't like the overall experience. I told him that the problem was my hot water tank. He put a regulator in it and it worked for a minute, but then it stopped working after about three days. It started making the same clicking sound when you turned the water on. I asked how would they repair the hot water tank if there was something was wrong with it. He said that AHS would buy me a new water tank, but the installation cost would be left up to me. He also said that he didn't know what the hot water tank would cost, but the installation would be $800. I tried to call AHS, but I could never get anybody.

    When I first got with AHS in 2012, everything was brand new. And about four went back, something very minor happened and they did a wonderful job. I like the way they operate. I can talk to someone and tell them what's going on. And then they would get in contact with whoever they need to come out and they'd give me the number to those peoples. They would then have those peoples call me and set up an appointment. I tell everybody about AHS and several of our guys got with them.

    A whole circuit went out in my kitchen. It was something with the lights. I filed the claim with Home Shield using the website and found that it works well. I've done it a couple of other times and I got a notification. They’ve been pretty good about it. And then, Hopwood Electric did a great job. The tech came out and he fixed the problem.

    A couple of months ago, I had some leaks on the plumbing with my kitchen sink. The tech came out but he didn't seem to care, did a half-assed job and left. And then it ended up I was still having leaks under my sink. It turned out being multiple points of the leaks, but I didn’t know where exactly it was leaking because I just moved into the house. I wasn’t satisfied with that. Also, the second time he came out, he left a report saying that apparently, something wasn’t under warranty that he did, so he had a complaint. That wasn’t a very good experience. I also had another issue with a gas leak, but that got fixed as well, so that was a good experience. Two out of three issues that I’ve had were solved and I was okay with.

    Our washer stopped working so an iFiX repairman came out. He realized that there were little pieces of the transmission that had broken off. So initially, he replaced one piece of the gearing that he had and then the other piece, he had to order. So he told us not to use the washer and that he would order the part and then be back out to add that part when it came in. But it was a week later that he came back and installed the part. We were without a washer for two and a half weeks. So we did lots of trips to the laundromat. But that’s a first world problem. We should be grateful for the things that we have. I guess the part didn’t come in as quickly as they had planned and we were going to be another weekend without a washer. So he made a special trip to our house on a Friday.

    I'm not home on Fridays and they won’t come do repairs with minors in the house, which makes a lot of sense. I have a daughter who drives so she took my kids for ice cream while he was in the house doing the repair and then he called me when he was done. So then the kids came back and the job was completed on a Friday. It seems like everything has been working okay since then as well. Other than that, we had a claim on our furnace and that was super fast. A guy came less than 48 hours after we contacted American Home Shield, very quickly fixed the furnace and got it operational. It feels like getting this warranty from American Home Shield is definitely worth doing.

    Three or four months after I got the service with Home Shield, I had a burner on my glass top stove that had a short or something because it would come on all by itself. And it wouldn’t go off. It would be really hard to get it to turn off and a tech fixed that. Then, my shower wasn’t producing hot water and Lone Star Water Services came out. Submitting that claim was extremely easy and the tech fixed the whole thing in five minutes. You need to have a home warranty if you’re worried about high priced items going out. My stove, for instance, would have been really expensive if I had to replace that. And if I had had a plumber come out, it would have cost me $50 more plus whatever part they thought they needed. It’s worth it.

    When you need a plumber for an emergency, AHS doesn't do emergencies. It takes them about three days. A couple of times this month, the tenants needed an emergency, but they didn’t do it.     I have been a customer with AHS for three years. My contract expired last year and I renewed it. I wish I went to another company. This issue was with the previous contract, but they would not honor it, so it was like starting the problem from scratch. My GE monogram refrigerator would not cool on the Freezer/Refrigerator - showed 24 and 54. Here is my timeline on calling and service calls for same issue.

    Oct 26, 2019 Service call from GE/Oct 29, installed and changed the fan on the freezer side. Feb 07, 2020 Same problem, called for GE service called, changed fan on freezer side. Mar 04, 2020 requested a return service on the same problem via internet, they said they would contact me, nobody did. Mar 07, 2020 called AHS again, request service, they said they could not get ahold of GE, they would promise to call me Monday. Nobody called again, I called and made for 3/14/20.

    Mar 16, 2020, noise started again on the fan. I was on the phone for 3 hours with AHS, with 2 different people. 1 with Customer service to get the monetary value/replacement cost $6,000 + and one with the Customer service agent, saying GE needs to come out and service the refrigerator again or state it is in continues same problem and cannot get fixed, only then I will get my $$$... I told them about a lemon law?? 3 times within 1 month of the same problem and time spent calling is ridiculous. He promised GE was closed and will call me back the next morning. Guess what? Again no call back. :( Today on March 18 at 4:30 p.m. I called again and the same scenario as above, Keisha, Said to wait for a call from GE, they will call me..

    I have spent at least 10 hours on the call with AHS. My biggest issue is: why do you have to fill in the form online, and then they state they will call us back with an appointment and never do. I have to sit and call them and go through the same thing again and again. Their Customer Service is Lousy, you are lucky if you get someone who cares. They can make an appt on their computers, but they won't tell you. One person did. So I know it can be done. Will I renew? Depends on how they handle this matter. Oct

    Normally AHS has been really good. But the service of some of their contractors isn't very good. Like for example, our fridge broke and we had no fridge. And they sent a technician out who couldn't figure it out. And every time they came, it was 75 bucks a pop. So we just couldn't figure it out. And then finally the last person that came was behind it. It seemed like they were just looking for a fix that would cost us a lot of money.

    With our fridge it wasn't just like we kept getting charged every time. Different things were breaking on the fridge at once. One thing breaks, they're gonna charge you for that. But if it doesn't get fixed they're not gonna charge you again until it's fixed. So say if the ice machine breaks they're gonna send a technician. If he can't fix it, the next one hopefully can, and that's the $75 you pay. But then, the fridge just shut down. So that's a different issue. But that's the only thing we really had trouble with. Overall, whenever we've had something someone's at our house within two days. They're quick to come out and help. So I really can't complain. There's good and bad.

I was very dissatisfied with the vendor that came out because they didn’t do the work properly, and American Home Shield promptly referred me to another vendor. They resolved it quickly. I never had to change vendors before either. In fact, I've been with American Home Shield for at least five years and I haven’t had any major issues with them since I had them. When I submit claims, I prefer to speak to someone directly. I like to call it in if I have additional questions. But I've done it both ways. Sometimes I submit my claims over the phone or I do it online. Overall, my experience has been good.

    My electrical claim where Right Door came out went good. It did not work a couple of times, but they came out and made sure they got it working. They had to replace a circuit board in. The guys were very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They explained every step they were doing, so it was very good. As with American Home Shield, I did everything online, which was great for me. Our rep was good, too. I made the appointment and they sent me a follow-up to make sure everything went all right. That was the first time I used them, so I was impressed -- I was not expecting it to be that good. You hear so many horror stories about these home warranties, but I'm happy with it.

    American Home Shield is very convenient. When some of my appliances went out and I called them, they sent somebody available either the same day or the next day. There was one particular company that didn't service our washing machine well. They were the only one that was available during that time and they didn't do the job right on the first two times they came out. Then on the third time, they said nothing was wrong with it. So I had given up on that and never bothered to call back. Home Shield also works on the availability of the contractors and you gotta be at the house when they were available. So I need to take off when I have somebody to come to my house.

    I been with American Home Shield for one year. My Realtor told us about them, and the previous owners of the house paid for it. It was part of the agreement. Submitting a claim is very simple.     The icemaker broke and we had Appliance Home Solutions come in. They ordered a part that was needed and then they came back to put it in. It was pretty simple and it didn’t take long at all. This is the second or the third claim I've done with them. I had a claim for the pool where it was fixed, but the guy wasn't very helpful with certain questions.     We've submitted a number of claims before and the problem is AHS gets people who are new startups and have no experience or they've had bad reputations and now they're trying to grow their business. It's as if they get anybody who buys into their program and they don't always have the best experience. To me, it feels like they don't truly vet the providers. So a number of times, we've had to go back and request somebody else again because they didn't troubleshoot properly or they didn't respond timely or they came back with crazy recommendations that weren't covered by AHS when that wasn't really the case.

    Although AHS have gotten better over the years, I plan on cancelling them and switching to Town and Country. The vendors Home Shield send over and what they cover now versus what they covered years ago is so much less. The prices have gone up too. Now, we're paying six something a year, where we used to pay four something. Also, the deductible was 50. Now, it's $75 and I'm getting subpar service in a lot of cases. As long as it's something that's an easy, quick fix then they're fine. But if it's something that requires a little bit more in-depth work, the majority of the time, we've had people who aren't skilled enough. But that was not the case with Cool Factory. Recently, I came home and the house was cold. The heat would not cut on. Cool Factory came and my husband dealt with them. He said they were really good and they fixed the issue immediately.

    Appliance Works came out and it was great. They had to come back three different times because it wasn't just my dryer that had a problem. My washer had a problem too and so did my refrigerator. One particular part was also in backorder but they immediately followed up so that they could schedule the appointment and get it done for me. The contractor was really great and the office manager, Irina, was very professional. She did everything to the dot. So I was very happy with them.

    My claim with AHS went okay. The technician tested it when he brought it back the first time. ‘Cause the temperature sensors or heaters weren’t the first two ones in the front. It was the one in the back. So, they had to take the microwave down and take it to the shop. And when they brought it back, tested it with the water and because it was a convection microwave oven, we tried the convection oven side. And when it flipped back to microwave, something was wrong. And then the next time I tried to use it, it was no good. So, I called and said it’s not working. Then they came back and ordered the part. And then he brought the new part and put it in and it’s been working good ever since.

    The contractor was good. While I was on the phone making my claim to AHS, the repair people were already calling while we were still on the phone. So, I can’t get any faster than that. All the emails were sent and kept me informed too. But then on the last day, those guys were a little bit behind. So, I called them and they adjusted the time. Other than that, everything went smoothly. The bottom line is it’s working.

    Sometimes, if I'm not happy with something, dealing with customer service is a little difficult. Last summer, I had a problem with a supplier or a vendor fixing my oven and I had to have four different vendors.     I woke up one morning and my house wasn't heating. The furnace stopped working, so I called American Home Shield and they sent Fast Response out. The guy oiled some parts, scraped some rust off some parts, and it started working. So, the heat came on and that worked for about a month. Then, about three weeks later, the same thing happened. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent the same company back out. But it was a different person and he cleaned it up like the first guy. Apparently, they always clean the part that the other man cleaned up to make sure that it is really going, but they didn't tell me that. So three weeks later, the part went out. When I called him, he came back out and cleaned it up. And he had it going long enough for them to order the part. Then they came out with the new part and they put it in there.

    It's been about a week since they came out and so far, so good. The repair also didn't take more than five minutes because I was sitting here and I saw him bringing the new part in. And when I looked around, he had put it back in there. All in all, I've had nothing but fantastic results from American Home Shield. They have also replaced my whole stove even when I first came on and I hadn't been with them for a year. So, I really was happy. Aside from that, they've taken care of this furnace last year with some coolant that had to come out.

    I submitted a request to American Home Shield about the electrical problem I was having in our room. The breaker kept tripping randomly due to an arc fault. I went online, put "electrical", put in a brief description of the issue and then submitted the claim. I was told Preece Construction would be coming out and then they called and we scheduled an appointment. But I was a little disappointed because I was hoping the problem would actually be resolved, not just get educated about it.

    Basically, I was told my light switches would probably have to be replaced at some point and he told me how I would wanna do it when I replace them but that everything was working so there was nothing to fix. I did learn about the voltage and the space heater that I had that were causing the trips. But the trips are still happening now, just more infrequently. Would I have appreciated replaced light switches considering that was the primary place it seemed to be tripping? Sure. Would I appreciate a little bit more diagnostic? Sure. But I don’t know what to expect when an electrician comes out. I’m not usually one to do home projects, which is why I submitted the claim in the first place.

The only thing that I would like to be able to see from American Home Shield when I create a request for any type of work is a history of the different companies and dates who had been out previously to work on that appliance or that issue. I would like some contractors back and some, I wouldn’t.     Our air conditioning and heating unit was not working and once my wife filled out the thing online, American Home Shield followed up with her within two days. They had a projected timeline and said it looked like the company would be able to come out in two days. When they came in, they said they fixed the issue and left but it actually didn’t work. We had to submit a second claim and they said they had to come out. Then they said the Freon was low and that it wasn’t a part of the warranty so we had to purchase some Freon.

    The unit is functioning well now because they fixed the two issues that were at hand. The first issue was that the motor was broken. It was completely shot and they fixed that. Then the second time, they had to add some Freon. So after doing that, everything worked fine. It’s been a successful partnership with American Home Shield. They are efficient and professional, and dealing with them has been a pretty easy process.

    On 3/14 had a toilet backed up, dirty brown drain water coming out of all connected sinks and tubs, whole house smells like sewage, pregnant and a small child at home, unsanitary! Called and was told 48 hrs before they can send someone out for this escalated order. After a few back and forths, had work order cancelled and called a plumber for emergency service. Paid $750 out of pocket and got it fixed, called back to see if I can be reimbursed, a different story every time and impossible to talk to a supervisor. Spent in total over an hour on phone between 3 calls. Was told they will escalate my issue and somebody would call me back to address the issue.

    Last person said they misinformed me because they should have either sent someone out in 24hrs or give me option to find an outside vendor. Was never given the option. 3 days and nobody called me. Just frustrated. Why do I have a warranty if I can't use it when I need it. I want proper reimbursement for what I had to pay. Could not speak to anyone in charge. Please advise. I expect AHS to do the right thing here.

    I have had a deplorable experience with American Home Shield! I was told by the repairman that they sent that more parts were needed and that I would be contacted by AHS. When I reached out to their call center I was told that there would be an additional cost of $1,365.00 to repair my air conditioning unit. When I inquired as to what these charges are for Miguel replied that he really didn't know what they were for but that the repairman's report showed what is was. I asked if he could send the report to me, Miguel stated that he could not. When I insisted his attitude change for the worse. He told me to contact the repairman. I said that I contracted with AHS and wanted the report. He replied "Ma'am do you want us to do everything for you?" I then said that I would like to speak to a supervisor, Miguel continued with his negative attitude and said that it would be two days before a supervisor would return my call.

    So here we sit five days into this fiasco with an inoperable air conditioner that is leaking R-22 refrigerant in our home. I have paid the $50.00 monthly premium and $100.00 service charge to be told I need to pay $1,365.00 for repairs that no-one can explain before I can have the unit repaired! I believe that AHS is running a rip-off scam operation! Deplorable customer service!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!

    I have call 3 times about issues with my house. 1: A/C problem. They sent the same company out twice and my a/c still does not cool the house in the summer. 2: Microwave broke. They sent a guy and he told me the fuse had to be replaced and when putting the door back on my microwave he broke a piece off. He took the fuse and said it would be 3 to 5 days before he could get it ordered. He never came back and wouldn't return my calls. So I looked up the company and they had a 1 star review.

    I called American Home Shield and it would not be covered because the people that owned the house before us had bugs. Even after I had exterminator check the house they would not cover. So I had to buy a new one. 3: Plumbing Issues. Again they give me 1 star companies. I called because I had Sewage clog and they set my up with several plumbers and no plumbers could come take care of it and they said for me to find a plumber of my own, but gave me a large list of companies I could not use. I ended up just paying for it myself. Forget this.

    I recently (3/16/2020) had my A/C system looked at because it kept tripping the circuit breaker. The technician informed me that my compressor was leaking and needed to be replaced. I figured this should be covered by my AHS warranty (that I pay over $1,000 a year for). The technician informed me that AHS will not cover refrigerant (only $10 per pound, when a pound is $72). The refrigerant will cost me over $600 in out-of-pocket, above warranty cost. The compressor is under ten years old and covered by warranty, so that cost was alleviated (will cost AHS nothing), so I am left questioning what is the point of a home warranty if I’m forced to pay over $600 plus the AHS deductible. This is difficult to understand and I feel like this warranty is a SCAM!!! Be careful if you are considering this company!!

    First: Their web-site was either extremely slow, or broken. I waited for the "swirling circle" for a looonnngg time. Second: Went to the phone method. This was okay if you believe 45 minutes waiting listening to horrible music/noise, and finally getting a representative that I could barely understand (oriental accent). Third: Rep was very slow in what she did, and had several problems with my request. She kept apologizing for the extremely long time it took her do whatever it was she was doing.

    Fourth: We had a fantastic home warranty company in AZ. Their web-site worked and their phone interface also was top notch. You called, they answered; they got a contractor to call the very next day for scheduling. Problem fixed with 5-10 minutes of my time. I tried to get them here in CA, but they don't do business here. Fifth: Costs back in AZ were a lot less than American Home Shield offers her in CA. The "visit cost" will probably only be a few dollars less than having had it fixed on my own. After thinking back for a few minutes, I can't come up with anything good to say, so I better stop now.

    The All Brand Appliance Repair tech took a few tries to repair the actual cooktop, but he finally got it. He was great and a nice guy. However, every once in a good while, there's a hiccup in the cooktop. It stays on for a little bit and eventually goes out. The technician explained to us that there's a temp sensor there that once it reaches a certain temperature, it shuts off the actual igniter. But so far, it's working properly. As long as it's not doing what it was doing before, my wife is happy with it. If it does return, we will give the company a callback or Home Shield. Overall, I've had a great experience with American Home Shield 'cause they actually addressed every concern we've had. And for the same issue, they did not charge me again for the deductible. They kept it the same and I was glad for that. Most companies charge every single time. I'm very happy.

    The icemaker went out in my Samsung French door refrigerator. The tech first put in a fan then a couple of days later, the icemaker quit working again. So, I called back and he ordered a part and put in a new icemaker. So far, it’s working. The only thing I’m having trouble with now is I had put in a request for a toilet. I canceled it because my children didn’t want people coming in my house ‘cause I have cancer to the thyroid. So, I called and AHS told me they would cancel the $75 fee. A day later, I got this message that my bank was gonna have the $75 coming out that Monday. So, I called again and the rep took care of it, but I still got the message. So, I called back and the rep took care of it. He said it was a glitch and it won’t come out. They never took it out and the reps were nice to me but I had to call 3 times to make sure it didn’t come out.

    I've had AHS for years and I keep it because I’m by myself and I wanna make sure. If my air conditioner ever goes out, they would replace it. When plumbing things happen, I just pay that copay, and AHS helps me. I just wish the payment each month was lower ‘cause it’s $70 now.

    When we bought the house, American Home Shield was part of the deal the Realtor established and after the year ended, we came back and put the warranty back amongst ourselves. Recently, we called the agency for our upstairs unit that was out, and they gave us the vendor's number. They said somebody will call us and a guy from Air Plus Heating and Cooling called out. He's awesome. I'm a school principal, so my time is messed up, but he was very thorough. We communicated, and when he said he's gonna be there, he was there. I didn't waste time. He had to order a new board and when he had to come back to install it, he texted the night before to let us know when he was gonna be there. He's very good and serviceable and the unit is working properly now.

The lady who signed me up for the home warranty let me know that that was a service that was available and she set it up for me. They gave me the date and window time.     In over 20 years how much I have used AHS, I could have easily replaced everything. But I still like the satisfaction of feeling that I’m insured. I have called for service maybe five or six times and it has worked out every single time. I hope a big one never happens but I hope that will also work out. I am very proactive. For example, rather than letting my water heater break and have AHS replaced it, I proactively replace it myself. I’m not looking to take advantage but it’s an insurance. I sleep better with it. They turned out they do it perfect, and every single service that I have had in the past, I have been happy. I have no complaints. One of the things is that you don't deal with is fly-by-night operations.

    For appliances, AHS sends Sears every time. And even though I don’t deal often with garage door opener people. I did not know anything 495 Garage Door, but they were excellent. These guys were very professional, to the point, and did a good job. Also, every now and then I needed to talk to AHS billing people. I talk to them every year and they don’t give me runaround. This is what they can and cannot do. I am happy with that kind of approach.

    After the warranty that came with the house was over, I got American Home Shield which has more coverage. My biggest issue is most people work 8:00 to 5:00 and they get home 6:00 or 6:30. To benefit people having a job and everybody, they should at least have a second shift because I like to be in my home when somebody is in my home. My brother is here, but he doesn't answer all the questions, and I'm the lady of the house and I need to be here. I'm working all the way in Alexandria and I would not get home until 7 o'clock. So they need to have after-hour services for people that work late. This way, more mechanics could have a job, and the homeowners would feel comfortable being in the house when people are in the house.

    I have to leave my house 7 in the morning to get to work on time, and American Home Shield techs don't start until 9:00. So if they come between 9:00 and 11:00, it's gonna be 11:00 or 12:00 by the time they fix things and then there's no sense going into work. If American Home Shield can find a way to have after-hours second shift repairmen, I would be 100% happy. Another thing is that there should be a better direct number or they need more operator. Sometimes when you call, you're on line for hours, and you can't afford to stay on hold that long. But overall, I'm happy with them. I'd tell all my friends that's buying a house to definitely get American Home Shield.

    My igniter went out on the furnace. I put a claim in online to AHS, and they initially sent an email as to who was coming out. That company called and said they couldn't get out until about four days later because they were so backed up. So I called American Home Shield, talked to them, and they put the request out to New Phase and they were out within a couple three hours.

    I love the service. We've been in the house for 18 years, and we've had AHS for about 17 years. I never had an issue with them. Every time I called was mostly issues the furnace. They've replaced my hot water heater twice. Every time I've had an issue, they've sent somebody out within a day or so and never had any problems. AHS covers everything. They cover all appliances, the heating, and the air conditioning. As far as I'm concerned, it's very cost-effective. And considering what they are covering, the cost is nothing.

    My central air was not working, so I made the claim for it online. Rutan, the contractor, called for an appointment and they came to the house. They told me what they believed was wrong and what they were going to submit to American Home Shield. Then, I was given a follow-up call to say that the claim was submitted and that it was waiting for approval from the home warranty company. They then had to order the part, which was the longest thing. It took between four and six weeks before the part got to Hawaii, and then they installed it after it arrived. The contractors knew exactly what they were doing, and they were well-versed in refrigeration. So, they took it out, put it in and set it up, and everything worked fine.

    The central air conditioning I had at home was over 20 years old, so it’s not cost-efficient. The new one is more cost-efficient, it cools faster, and it doesn’t make the machine work as hard. So, that makes it better over here, especially for electricity -- the electricity in Hawaii is extremely high. I'm trying to get used to it being cooler again. I have had American Home Shield for 14 years already, and I would recommend it to anybody because you get good service, and you only pay $75 plus tax and they do everything.

    The water heater went out on us. A&S Plumbing came out, and they were very professional and handled everything extremely well. I filed the claim online Monday night I believe and they came out on Wednesday and fixed it. Overall, I was pleased with the service. The only thing that I would’ve liked to see is that the policy would come out a little bit quicker. It took about two months before we got the information on it. other than that I’ve recommended American Home to different people that that talked about their appliances and stuff.

    AHS doesnt do anything until something is broken, and then it depends on whether or not they’re there, how fast you get it repaired, how quickly you can get an appointment, and how fast those people repair it. Our washer broke and there was a lot going on and the first guy came and said, “This needs to be totaled out. It’s ruined. Your motherboard is fried.” American Home Shield didn’t accept that answer and they sent some guys. Each one of them said the same thing but American Home Shield wanted them to try something else.

    In the middle of November, the washer broke and we didn’t get a new washer. They told us, “You can go buy a new washer, and then you have to submit the receipt to us for approval before we give you your money back." In January that we finally did that. But what happens if I’m not able to go out and buy a new washer and submit it, and then wait for the payment to return?

    We were fortunate enough that we had the money saved up that we can go and buy a washer. But a lot of people don’t, so what do they do? And in the meantime, you’re doing laundry at a laundromat at probably 40 bucks a week. Nobody’s reimbursed me for that, although they took your money. You pay them in good faith. So I’m not getting a home warranty once this one expires.

    I've been having plumbing issues and hiring plumbers monthly so I went to American Home Shield and their plumbers came out to fix it in one month. Recently, there was water damage on my ceiling. The roofers came and told me that it was ductwork. After I filed the claim with AHS, I got a text message and an email saying someone was gonna contact me within a couple of hours and somebody did. US Air contacted me and a guy came out. We went up there and he showed that there's no ductwork. He sat with me and helped me understand what the actual issue was. US AIR was awesome and I definitely would recommend them. I'm still having issues but AHS definitely helped us identify the issue a lot sooner and get the correct folks since they took care of it as early as possible. So, the damage was very minimal.     AHS has gotten people out here quickly. And there's usually no hold when submitting a claim through their website. They and the process are pretty straightforward. But as far as somebody getting in contact with you, it's not always the fastest because they use a small contractor. However, the repair gets done and I've been happy with it. About four months earlier, they had to take out and install a whole new unit. We've definitely gotten our money's worth out of it. And our most recent claim was a screw up on my part because the breaker had tripped off and I didn't go check it.

    We have a gas heater, and it would kick on and it would heat for five or ten minutes and it was almost just like it would cut off. When we changed the temperature setting up, it would do the same thing. It would run. You could see the flames on it and everything, but it would cut off after five minutes for some reason. My husband called American Home Shield on a Thursday and A-US was out here the next morning. And then it took them maybe an hour to figure out what the problem was, and then they had to send somebody else. They came out Friday, looked at it, and then they set it up for a Monday for the people to come out. They had to clean out something and they ordered something like a safety valve that kept shutting off. It kept shutting off because it was not clean all the way. They took care of it, and they had it done super quickly.

    American Home Shield has always been wonderful. We’ve had it off and on. When we first moved into this house in 2011, we had it for four years then, and then we had to cancel it for a couple of years, and now we’ve had it for about two years. They make things pretty easy. We’re able to schedule an appointment online. Everybody got in contact with us super quick even if it was like, “Hey, you know, we can’t come out until this time.” Even our time frames were super short, but they stayed in contact with us for everything. So, they did a really good job. I recommend them to everybody.

    I read the literature and it's right. American Home Shield offers better service and coverage. It's a little bit lower priced and they're very responsive too. When my old refrigerator was not cooling well at all, they delivered a GE refrigerator. It took a while to get it though. They delivered the GE and it wasn't cooling properly. It took almost three weeks to get GE out to fix it under that warranty. I have medication in the refrigerator and it needs to be kept cold, but that didn't seem to sway them at all. Still, the claim went well.

    There was an issue with my bathroom sink one time. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent a contractor. So far, some of the contractors they send are great and some of them are horrible. The one that did the sink was horrible. I had to take cash out on my sink because they could not get the job done. The claim took almost six months and they still couldn't do it. Another time, I had an issue with my hot water heater and AHS was gonna send the same company that did the sink to us. I had to call it in because I had such a bad problem with the person who did our sink. For the water heater, they sent Alvarez Plumbing. We live in a very secluded area so it's really hard to get the people up on the hill to us. Alvarez had to come from down the hill. They were phenomenal.
