I've had American Home Shield for 13 years now and I recommend them to everybody I know. The claim I made for a heating issue went great. ART Heating and Air came out within 30 minutes after I made the call and they had the issue fixed in no time. They were fantastic.

The heating unit was turning on but once it reached the heating temperature, it shut off then turned back on then shut off again. Once I put in a request for service online, I got a call within an hour to schedule the next day appointment which surprised me. That was good. Paul was great too. He gave me a window and was here 20 minutes before schedule, but that was great. He changed the circuit board and I haven't had any problems since. Once it reached temperature, it cut off. It doesn't play those games up and down anymore. So far, AHS works out for the appliances and we renewed the contract. If I come across anybody and they can afford it, I tell them to try it out.

My heater wouldn’t come on and I had two separate service techs from AMP Mechanical come out because it wasn’t fixed the first time. It was a heating element and the first technician accidentally touched it and he didn't know that he wasn't supposed to. So it only lasted for a day and I had to call them back out again. The contractors usually contact me usually within 24 hours from submitting a claim. On both times, I had submitted a work order in the evening and they came out the following morning. They were both very nice and it was good dealing with them. There has been no problem with the heater since. I love American Home Shield and I tell everybody that I know to call Home Shield if they have problems.

I like calling somebody up and speaking to them on the phone. Ace Pool Service handled my claim really great. It was taken care of. I was surprised how fast Home Shield took care of it. I've had things that didn't go as smoothly at all so I'm surprised that this time, it actually was so much better. However, let's say you have a back up and there was a problem with your toilet and you really needed to get it fixed, you don't call Home Shield because when you do, then they answer, but the service company would take a day or two to come out when you need your toilets. Your washing machine is overflowing and you need someone right now, you have to call somebody else. So, with emergency things, Home Shield is not for it. They're more for something that you could wait a day or two for.
Home Shield is great, but if you need something fixed or a part, like I've had an oven that needs to be fixed, it's a week or two process because it would take two days for someone to come out, and then they need to order a part, and they have to get the part approved. Then they get the part approved and they have to order it. There's a whole process with everything. So, when you need something done immediately, you can't call Home Shield. That's the only downfall. There is no emergency line coming out, like a Roto-Rooter type of thing that comes out right then and there, and then they run to Lowe's and get the part and put it right back in. With Home Shield, if you could wait a week or two or a few days, then you call them.
But other than that, I would always get Home Shield because the times that I needed them that I was able to wait, they were there for me. Anybody that ever moved near me or I saw in any person, I told them, "Don't forget to get Home Shield." I always recommend it. I'm very happy. If I needed to cut out a bill and it would have to be Home Shield, after my recent experience, I wouldn't cut it out.
Sally,
Thanks for letting us know how everything worked out for you and thanks for recommending us. We look forward to helping you in the future. Take Care.

As I write I am on hold again pending an agent to get back to me on getting a repair person to come out to repair my oven which does not work because of a problem with the thermostat. The claim was filed a month ago, the first fix didn't work, and the repair person said it needed another part. At this point I was under the impression the repair person would call when that 2nd part was in to install. Two weeks later, no word so I called both the repair person and AHS. It turns out the part was never ordered.
My dashboard says "Authorization under review" and no one has been able to tell me why though one agent told me it was a mistake. I have tried to call every day since then and hold times before I get an actual person is at least 30 mins each time and often I am disconnected. Every answer I have received has been a deflection to someone else who I cannot be transferred to and cannot be named. A supervisor will call me back. The repair company has been contacted. Someone will get back to me in 24 hours.
I have heard many things to get me off the phone hoping that my issue will be resolved, but no one ever follows up and so the next day I'm on the phone again. I have not been able to escalate past the first customer service agent who I feel does not have the power to accomplish anything. The authorization is still under review. The repair firm's voicemail box is full and they are not responding to emails. AHS will not give me a supervisor's name or number so I have to go through the phone tree every day to reach a customer service agent. It is an endless loop that will probably result in my giving up and fixing the oven through another contractor or purchasing a new oven. This was not the point of buying this insurance and I do not recommend American Home Shield.

I had a really terrible experience with American Home Shield cash out option. My oven stopped to work, it did not heat up at all. I submitted a claim with AHS. A contractor checked my oven on January 30th 2020, he said that the control board needed to be replaced. He also said that AHS would call me and would provide two options: fix the oven or cash out. I waited for more than two weeks for a call from AHS. Nobody called me, but I received an email from AHS saying that my case was completed!
I called them myself mid February, there was some confusion on their end. They said first that they can give me $250 cash out, however later they said that in California they have to submit some smart form first to get an estimate and that I had to wait. I called them in a week, but there was no update, they were still waiting for the form to be completed.
Then I called them on March 21st and I spent an hour with support first and then with escalation department. Initially support said that cash out is not an option in my case because it's only a part is broken not the whole appliance. Imagine my frustration after almost 2 month of waiting. A lady in escalation department blamed the contractor and said that he did not provide some part number. She tried to reach out to him, but with no avail. She promised to call me back once she gets required information. Today is March 26th, a week passed. Nobody contacted me yet. Two months passed, oven is broken, no cash out. I spent so much time on the phone. Terrible experience so far.

I called Home Shield when our hot water heater went out. The tech came out the next day which was very quick. The water heater was shot so they went and picked one up, came back, put it in that afternoon and they were gone. They were very fast. We also had a claim on our heater but it took a little bit longer on that. The tech came right out two days later and they had to order parts. But as soon as he got the part in, he came in and set it up. I was very happy with both of them. All in all, AHS coverage is very good and I am very satisfied.

I had American Home Shield in my former address. Then the house I moved into was an older house, and I didn’t want any problems to pop up that I couldn’t handle. I thought they were reasonable, so I took them and I've with them for about 9 to 10 years now. Recently, I had an outage in one of my sockets. I went online to file a claim and their website was friendly. It said they’d give me a call within 24 to 48 hours, and then they called me. The guy from Adam Electric Inc. was in here for about two or three minutes. He showed me where there was. It was like a surge protector in one of the sockets that wasn’t located in a normal place, it was located in one of the upstairs bedrooms, and the problem was in one of the downstairs bathrooms. The way they got it wired, it flipped a switch upstairs, and that would cut off and hit the power. I guess it tripped. But there's no problem now since the guy's been out.

We did some research and asked a couple of our friends who were also members of American Home Shield, and we felt like they were the best one so we picked them. My husband's usually the one who submits the claims and it’s easier for him to do that online. The contractor, Colorado Plumbing, was super responsive. We had two right in a row with them and they came out that same day. It was a fast and good service. The guy was nice and worked quickly. We had an issue with a window once and I wish that was covered by AHS because it was quite a big expense but I also understand why they didn't. Other than that, we've had a great experience.

When we bought the house, AHS was what the owners were using and they recommended it. Recently the upstairs air conditioner was not working at all. I tried to call AHS and that was awful. I ended up spending 40 minutes and having no resolution. They connected me with somebody that didn't speak English very well. But more importantly, the connection between me and them was awful and eventually, they hung up. So then, I went to the internet and it was fine. Advanced Heating came out.

It was very easy to file a claim with American Home Shield. You just submit the claim through them and they assign you a contractor. I've been very happy with them. When our AC wasn’t cooling the house. I tried to get United Air Temp to come the same day, but it was a Sunday and they couldn’t make it. So the guy came one day after I called. The air conditioner is working fine now.
I was really in love with AHS but the guy mentioned something that I wasn’t aware of. For example, my air conditioning unit is over 15 years old and it is just about reaching its shelf life. So, I thought, given the program, if AHS couldn't fix it, they'd repair or replace it. The guy made me aware that the refrigerant was not covered. Now, we are talking about $1,600 worth of refrigerant because they only cover $10 per pound and then the pound is astronomical. I was not gonna pump $1,600 into something when I could get a unit replaced on my own for 3,000. Every time I've used them, it has been really good and prompt. We also had 60 days for them to come back without charging the fee and I felt very secure with AHS. But after this call, everything changed for me because of this refrigerant cost.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

My recent claim with AHS is not done yet. Somebody had closed the ticket, but the work is not completed yet. The first company came out. They told me, “This is what’s wrong.” And then said how much it’s gonna cost me out of pocket, and then they tried to sell me the bigger things. They were like, “How about we just sell the whole system?” I reached back out to American Home Shield for a second opinion. But somehow, some clause we have on the American Home Shield which says if the diagnosis is the same, I cannot go with the second guy who came over, even though I like them better than the first one. I’m stuck at a point where my only option is to get it fixed with the people I don’t like or pick a cash-out and do something on my own and hire somebody and pay a lot more money out of my pocket than I already have to. So, it’s a rock and a hard place.
My past experience with American Home Shield has been really good. So far, I called one more time before this, and that one went really well. I liked the guy who came over as well. The guy was honest, like, husband and wife running a small company. They were honest about it, how long it will take, what they’re gonna do to fix it, what they can do and what they can’t do.
We do apologize for any inconvenience and we will take this into consideration regarding this A/C issue. Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. We had two claims and D&J Services came out promptly for both. The first one was our washing machine a few weeks ago and the tech was great. I loved the guy that Home Shield sent out. He was very professional, especially in these times. He did everything he could as far as taking the machine apart and looking at what was needed to be fixed. And with that one, the part no longer existed. He was not able to fix it but was able to write that up. So, that was great. And then just more recently, this week, the same gentleman came back out to bring parts back out for our dishwasher. It has not been draining. It left water in the bottom. He checked that out and was able to order the right parts. He put those in just this week and that has been running great. So, I thought he was wonderful. At the end of the day, we got a great guy.
I received a check for the washer machine in the mail today so their attention was pretty quick in the turnaround time. I sent a receipt but not an invoice, and they were quick to respond to me that they needed more information, and then I understood what they needed so I was able to email that right back. And then I just received a check today, so that was all a matter of a couple of weeks. And especially in these times, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it took a couple of months so I was very pleased.
There were years that you didn’t need the warranty so you ended up paying your membership fee or whatever the cost was monthly. But in times where you did have a problem, where you needed a fix or a new appliance because that you had no longer was working, that’s the benefit of having the warranty. We’ve been pleased with it. In these past five years in this home, we have seen the perks of having older appliances. So, you have the warranty, yet anything, even newer appliances, with all their gadgets and things, sometimes run the risk of breaking down easily too. So, I would continue using the warranty even if I had newer appliances.
Colleen,
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

I love Professional Plumbing. They always do good. I’ve been calling them out from AHS for a long time. They were timely and friendly. Their technician worked on the disposal. It was making noises like crazy. I thought that the disposal was going and they’d have to replace it again because it’s been around five years since we had to replace it last time. He looked in there and he found this itty-bitty little screw. I don’t have a clue where it came from, but it was in there. He pulled it out and everything has worked fine so I was pretty impressed with him because I looked in there and I didn’t see a screw, but he saw it.
I had AHS dispatch a company to fix my air conditioner earlier last year because all of a sudden, one of the coils started leaking. It was completed. The contractors were really nice and punctual and on top of everything. It took them a while to order the coils that we needed. It took them four weeks to get the big old central part to the upstairs unit and ordered in but then they came and put it in, but I just had the contractor that I have the maintenance contract with, who was also the contractor that installed the system back years ago, come out and they took a look at it and they said, “You know, that is not how we would have installed it. For one thing, that wasn’t the original part, which we stay away from. For two, it’s not installed quite right.” It’s not leaking. It’s working, but they were pretty unhappy.
The problem is, that I had a bumper-to-bumper warranty with them after they installed the system and that ran out five years ago. So these days, I have AHS. I had the contractor come out to diagnose the problem and then I called AHS out to fix it because it cost me $75 and not 2,000. I’d rather have AHS come out than another. Having a different contractor do the work, I didn’t realize that there was a problem with how it got installed. It is working, but it did not make my tech happy.
The only issue I ever have a problem with AHS is regarding the air conditioning because they always try to send out the really cheaper people in town because the really good ones won’t take American Home Shield anymore ‘cause they don’t get paid enough. I’ve had them try and send us one really nasty outfit out that has caused problem all over town. I had to call back and talk with a supervisor and tell them to send me somebody decent out, and then they tell me they can’t. I’ve actually called the home office, the vice president before to get them to pull their head out. But it’s only on the air conditioning. Everything else runs like a charm. I would definitely recommend AHS, every once in a while. I’m really happy with AHS for most things.

I’ve had a good experience and I’ve had a bad experience. I had an electrical issue on my property in Virginia and I live in California. My tenants didn't have power and it wasn’t a great situation then because the American Home Shield reps were giving me the runaround on getting somebody out in a timely fashion. They said the only contractor that could show up within the window could be there within 36 hours, and I wasn't gonna leave my tenants without power for 36 hours.
I contacted the contractor directly after they were in contact with me, and ultimately, they never showed. They were awful. I had to call an electrician myself and get him out there to fix it. I had to pay out of pocket for something American Home Shield should’ve sent a technician to do. Aside from that, everything has been good. I made a claim over the phone for a dishwasher and KC Appliances was there within the next day. They replaced a motor and my tenant said the dishwasher guys were great.

We have a claim that's still open and we're looking forward to get it resolved. They sent out D&J the last time and they came out earlier this week. They recommended Sears to come out to do bearings and drives but the Sears technician said bearings and drives are not on this particular machine. He said it was something else and I think that's what needs to be fixed. Sears got back with American Home Shield and although I saw a message in regards to D&J after Sears left, I haven't received a follow up yet.
Currently, I'm also having issues with my HVAC again. I put a claim in for that too and someone's supposed to come out between 1:00 and 6:00 today, so I'm waiting for that contractor. I had a lot work done on it last year then we're having the same issues again, so I'm curious about how that's gonna work out. I wish that things will work out better. Right now, it doesn't seem American Home Shield's working too well with my appliances and this HVAC and I need to feel more secure in the services.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

American Home Shield has always been consistent. I requested service because my bedrooms were not getting any air. I have my niece from New York who is staying with me now, and she is using the fan in one of the bedrooms. So, air should be circulating. I appreciate the professionalism of TrueAir Solutions. The guy said there was not anything that he could do because he said that we had a good AC. He turned down the AC and it got freezing cold inside, so he did not have to service anything. But we thank you for his promptness and his professionalism. He also said that if we close some of the vents on the west side of the house, then more air will blow on the other side of the house. So, that was the remedy.

Other than that, American Home Shield has been alright. I submit claims online and they normally have someone come out within a day or the next day.

Besides what the plumber that was sent out was fixing, he anticipated three things that were going to break, so he went ahead and took care of it. I've had American Home Shield for 17 years and I don’t think that’s the norm with them, but it was great. It's important to have a home warranty and American Home Shield started listing several different companies. That was huge. I have a selection to pick from and I'm not just stuck with one. I liked that.

I’m happy with AHS. I've been with them off and on for about the last 10 years. I took a holiday and went with First American Home Warranty. They were a bit different but somewhat used the same people. However, AHS sort of let me cover only what I wanted instead of all the junk that I don’t have. It was what made it cost less per month.
Last month, I had a cooktop and the contractor claimed to be Whirlpool. A person explained to me what had happened and what they did about it. They had good communication and they went over and above. All the burners are working and the tenant who occupied the property was happy. And the month before that, we had a microwave replaced.

The warranty was a included when I bought the house. And then I’ve used the service several times since then and liked it, that’s why I kept it. The microwave door needed to be repaired. It was broken. The dishwasher was smelling and the washing machine wouldn’t turn on. I submitted two requests through the website- one for my garage door and then one for the other stuff. By the next day or even later that day, both companies have reached out to me saying that they got the request. The garage people came out that week. When I spoke to National Platinum, they asked me some questions and I gave them the part numbers and stuff that they needed. And they said they had to order stuff and then they would get back to me to reschedule.
The washing machine, I’ve had to use a ton. I got a little backed up. The dishwasher seems to be doing great. No smell. The door for the microwave seems to be off a little bit when I close it, but that might be something that I could just tinker with myself and get back. But what National Platinum came out to fix was fixed. Just that it got a little tweaked during that process, but it’s not broken. It’s just when you close it, it doesn’t quite fit right. You have to adjust it. They did a really good job. The guy was very thorough and explained everything to me.

Our heater was not blowing hot air. I did the claim online. I called Mountain Heating & Cooling the next day. Unfortunately, it was a Friday so they couldn’t come out until Monday. They came out, fixed it and it was fine, much better than the last time. We had a heating issue in the fall which was with a different company and that was not a smooth situation. But it had nothing to do with American Home Shield. It was with the business.
The only thing I don’t like right now is I wanted to change my plan and I wasn’t allowed to do that until 30 days before my plan was up for renewal, and so then I had to call and set a date for that. But even now, I don’t see that they’ve made the change. So, I have to look at my plan constantly, every day, wondering. My plan will expire on the 10th of April so I just have to remember to look and make sure that it's upgraded to what my new plan is. That’s a bit annoying to me. I don’t have any validation without having to look at it and I don’t want it to go into the new plan without it being the new plan. Or just somehow show me that it went through so that I know that it went through.
Sometimes, you do things and it doesn’t happen. For instance, I needed to call Alaska Airlines again because they haven’t credited something to my account that they kept saying it would take five days, and it did the third time I called them. So, I don’t like having the due diligence on other businesses. But with Home Shield, I don't know why their process is like that. Even if I got an email that said, “Oh, hey, we got a note that you're doing the…” Some kind of confirmation.
Catamara,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

When the downstairs AC was not working, the temperature was higher than what I set the thermostat for. I lowered the temperature to see if maybe it was just a glitch or something, but it kept doing that. It wasn't cooling. I didn't want the unit to freeze trying to overwork itself, so I raised the temperature. Usually, I have it set at 74 at the lowest and I raised it higher so it wouldn't work too hard. Then, I made the upstairs thermostat a little bit lower so it would cool a bit more. By that afternoon, the upstairs unit had stopped working. I left the fan running but I turned off the unit because I didn't want anything bad to happen. I was told I could turn it on but when I turned it on at night, the outside unit was like it was trying to connect something but it wasn't happening.
I called Home Shield and when Air Majesty came to service the unit, they found out the upstairs unit had stopped working because the breaker switch flipped. The tech, Jose, said somebody must have flipped it or shut it off. I said nobody went out there to the garage and I would have never thought that that was why the upstairs stopped working. But it wasn't a big deal, it was just putting the electrical switch back on. For the downstairs unit, they told me they needed a part and the part had to be ordered. Jose was great and he explained everything to me. But all he told me was that a part needed to be replaced and didn't say anything about anything else.
When I called American Home Shield to find out about the part the Saturday before, they said they ordered it Saturday and it should be three to five days. This week, Monday, I called again and told them I haven't heard from the air conditioning people. It had been over a week that the part was ordered. Also, when the person from American Home Shield called me back, they said I'm gonna have an out-of-pocket of over $1,000. I don't know why they were charging so much, so I inquired about it and the person from American Home Shield really couldn't explain it to me. They said I'm gonna have to speak to the contractor about it.
I called the air conditioner people and I couldn't get Jose. I wanted to speak to him because he didn't tell me about all this extra stuff that ad to be done. They told me he wasn't available and that he was not at work because he had a blow-out. They gave me this person Mike and I asked him to explain to him about the different things that had to be done. And I was concerned about this $200 permit. I've had homes in many different places and I've never been charged for a permit for anything, so I questioned them about it. The guy checked it and he said I was right. They don't need a permit to change that outside part and drain the line. I don't ever recall the line being drained when they replace parts but they said they need to drain the line when they change the part and it takes up to 13 pounds. But they agreed that the permit wasn't necessary, so they said they're gonna take off the permit.
Then, they said I needed to get a locking cap. It was a code upgrade. I looked online about this locking cap and I couldn't find anywhere whether it was a code upgrade or not, but I saw that they put these locking caps because other people try to inhale this Freon. This locking cap is to prevent people from getting into the Freon. When I looked online, the locking cap wasn't that expensive, but I guess they charge more for the labor than the part. I also looked up the foam part that goes on the tubing and a box of it was the price that they were charging me. I didn't understand because the foam part that's on the tubing is there. They said it's a code upgrade that they require a thicker one. When did this change? Whenever anybody comes out, they never told me that it needed an upgrade.
I'm depending on American Home Shield, since they're sending me the contractor, to be able to answer some of my questions as far as what code it is. If they tell me what code it is in this state that's required, I'd be more comfortable and I’d just move forward. I had a technician that knew about air conditioning from American Home Shield speak to me, but the other representatives that I've spoken to were not technical people, so they really weren't able to give me any guidance other than when I looked online. If they can just have someone that can give me a little more guidance of what the contractor is charging separately. I would like some information if that really necessary. American Home Shield has this contract and they're supposed to know what is applicable and what is not.
We do apologize for the a/c issue and we will look into this matter. We understand the hassle of being without your air conditioner and we would love to speak with you regarding this. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

Our air conditioning is a major issue. Recently, we didn't have any cold air coming out and the fan wasn't working on the outside unit so the tech had to replace it. Our unit is 23 years old and I have a file of all the dozens of calls that have been made over the years to this air conditioner. It's costing me and the company extra every time. It doesn't seem cost-effective and I'm wondering why they don't offer to get us a new one or give us some money so we can get a new one. I've never asked them to replace it but after all these service calls and repairs they've had to pay for, that would be the most economical thing to do. This is our second year with AHS. We had a different service then and we weren’t happy with them. We had Choice Home Warranty. And every time, I don’t know if it was because we lived in Nacogdoches at the time, but they could never find a technician. I would have to go find my own technicians. They never wanted to replace anything. Everything was, “No, we can’t do anything with that.” So, it’s been really nice with AHS. Every time we call, they come and either fix it or take care of the issue. I also use the online on the web portal and it works very well.
With our recent claim with AHS, the contractors had to come out five times before they finally just decided to replace the unit. It went okay, but they just sent a different technician every time. So, it was like restarting over every time a different technician would show up. And after I explain to them what happened, they had to read the notes. And every one of them had a different opinion. The first one said that he didn’t think it was fixable, then the second one said he could fix it. The third one said he could fix it, and then by the time the fifth one came, they were like, “We’ve replaced everything we can.” But our experience with AHS was very good. When they decided to just replace our dishwasher, we really liked how they sent us a webpage that we can pick these or these.

Our garbage disposal in the kitchen was stopped up as well as the dishwasher, and they were connected. The contractor was able to repair both of them fine. When filing claims with American Home Shield, you pick up the phone and call them. It would have been nice to be able to pay them when the contractors get here or after the work has been done but you have to pay ahead of time. Sometimes that can be challenging for me like so many Americans who have been laid off. But at this point, when you think about what it costs to do home repairs, it’s probably right in line with what’s expected in the market. So, it is what it is. I used to travel a lot but now that we’re in lock in orders with the COVID19, I’m home trying to get these projects done. If you have the money, AHS can respond quickly and they make sure it gets done.

There is always what they can and can't do, but I understand that. Some stuff that they didn't fix, but I understand why. And overall, they fixed everything that I really needed to be done. I have three units and pretty much everything breaks down at the same time. I learned how to do it all at once and usually call in. I only have to make one copay instead of a copay for each different apartment or each different order. When my furnaces both had issues at around the same time, I was able to make one copay and the contractor looked at both of the furnaces.

I have four houses, all in a gated community, and I love 2-10 Home Warranty, but we maxed out on claims with air conditioners, washers and dryers and water heaters several years ago. Choice Home Warranty gave me a deal on signing up because I did all four houses and it was the biggest mistake ever. In fact, one of my friends told me to stay away from them. Everything was an argument and I ended up sending tens of thousands of dollars repairing ** that I thought was covered under the warranty. I've also waited up to 60 days to get things handled on claims, up to 40 days for parts, and then they say the part is not coming in.
They're horrible. They always seem to send out an appliance company that doesn't do a certain brand, a certain service or something needs to be replaced then Choice offers you $100. I have high-end appliances and they cost me $1,600. Choice sent me a check for 300, and I was done. I couldn’t stand them anymore and I cancelled. I thought I would try American Home Shield and see if it worked. If it did, then I was going to get it for the other three houses. I switched to American Home Shield in January and this was a great experience.
I made my first claim with the microwave and it was amazingly so easy, I was shocked. When you go online, you click the buttons, pay with your credit card, and you're done. The vendor scheduled an appointment and showed up. Because of the coronavirus, they had to make sure we didn't have a house full of people and it was fine because we didn’t at that time. The guy fixed the problem right away, and that was great. He was in and out and there was no ** crap. I was very impressed. We went and found a tiny microwave that would hold a bag of popcorn, and we used that for a couple of days until this got fixed. Now, it works and I'm really happy.

This company has caused me nothing short of complete havoc, stress, inconvenience, & a complete time wasted in vain. Please buyers beware.. These people have no morals, integrity, or accountability, even contractors are unsatisfied with them. Took them approximately 3 weeks to get a simple service call accurate to have my electrical problem fixed, wanted the contractor to actual witness my circuit breaker tripped before approving replacing the breakers, after they authorize them to come out to replace them.
Now they're refusing to reimbursed me after I was told to pay for a sump pump and gave me a special email address (that I couldn't obtain myself) to submit my invoice to and then denied it after I explain, "I don't have time for you to attempt to get it correct in obtaining a plumber to come out tomorrow or the next day or week 'cause water is flooding my basement constantly presently, and my insurance agent advised if I don't fix it all my damage property will not be covered." After the Philippian lady told me to do just that & submit my invoice she didn't document it and they denied it. Go with Home Choice Warranty, as my friend has- she never has any problems whatsoever and they sometimes come out the same day if it's urgent. This company is deplorable and I will be seeking damages by way of a lawsuit.
Choice Home Warranty will get my business as soon as my contract which is paid for a entire year is over 'cause it's nothing but a headache and they are so contradictory and there's no accountability for their inconsistencies and lack of knowledge. But Robert called me when it came in. He came when he said he would and got it fixed. There was also a washer. When he came back, he said I had to get the dryer off. I had to take the dryer off myself, which was kinda hard because I was here with my kids, but we managed it. I had to disconnect the dryer and figure out how to get it off of the washer. It would have been nice for him to have the option to have a helper that could have done that so I wouldn’t have been nervous about it. But he made sure that I knew how to hook it up properly, which was very nice.

They sent out a very professional guy for my AC unit. He was knowledgeable and clean. I have a switch in my AC unit that turns the unit off in the event that something gets clogged. So he cleaned it out and did a couple of other adjustments, and we were done. That was it. In bad weather or bad times, we have to worry about who’s available. It did take them a couple of days to get someone out, but luckily it didn’t happen in the middle of the summer. But AHS is on the same constraints everyone else is. So for 75 bucks for a visit, I can’t complain at all. But I didn’t really care for the person that worked on my refrigerator. It’s kinda messed up, but it’s workable for me. But for the AC unit, everything was top-notch.

I like AHS very much. Every time I call, their customer service has been outstanding. They tell me that somebody will be contacting me within 24 hours, which is stated clearly. And they’re spot-on on that part. When the pool motor died, I contacted AHS and they hooked me up with the pool person. At the end of it, the contractor called me and said, “Before I come out, can you tell me what the motor size is? So that way, if I need to replace it, I have the part on hand.” I provided the information. He came out on time and was very professional. He did social distancing and didn’t come in the house. He walked around the back, looked at the pool motor, said, “Yup,” replaced it, and cleaned up his mess. It was a very good service.

My dryer claim went pretty quickly. They scheduled the appointment then the contractor called me, came out, took a look at it, and ordered the part. Then within a week, he replaced the part. He has come out before and mainly met with my husband, but he seemed to respond right away, which was good. Some of the contractors don’t and you gotta keep calling them. That was what happened with my dishwasher. We had to keep calling the contractor. He said that he called me. I said that I didn't have any messages. I ended up having to get a new dishwasher.

I had Service America before then I went with American Home Shield three years ago and prior to my last experience, I would highly recommend it. The pool people did their job, finished it and the equipment is working. That’s where I want to be, but even though my pool claim has been resolved, I'm seriously concerned about my other claim because the guy said it's dangerous to use my oven. I can't use my oven at all. He took it apart, said he's going to get the part, and they haven’t contacted me back.
I know there's a lot going in the world, so I get it. I've been trying to be patient as well, but I don't know what's going on and it has been in limbo. I've also had my hood range serviced three times, and it keeps blowing bulbs within a week. The electrician came out and said it's not an electrician job, that it needs to be replaced. The appliance guy said that he was the one that had the electrician come out, but then the electrician denied him, and I have both the paperwork for it. Again, I haven’t heard anything back from anyone. One time, I opened the door to my refrigerator and all of a sudden, it fell to one side. Now, the door doesn’t close all the way and supposedly, American Home Shield denied that claim.
I've reached out to the companies. They say it's pending on American Home Shield's end. I reached out to them and I was on the phone for two hours with the young lady. She said she's going to have to talk to the claims department and she’d get back to me. She left me a message last Friday and said that she was still working with the department, but I haven’t heard anything back since. Nobody has called or followed back up with me and it has been going on for three weeks now.

Having filed a claim for a heating issue, American Home Shield sent out Seabreez and the tech who came said it was a ducting problem. I was charged 75 bucks but it wasn't a ducting issue. I had to send for my technician and I ended up paying him 100 bucks. I had him do an analysis and he said it was a sensor issue. AHS then sent a different company, Sun Power Solutions. They were good and professional people. They fixed the problem and everything is working okay so far.
American Home Shield should not use Seabreez because that’s like the third time I had a problem with the same company. They just don’t want to work. They're trying to get the deductible and get away from there. The deductible I paid should go for the repair. And because I sent my technician to analyze the problem, they should return my deductible.

Original Review: The air conditioner was not working on one of the rooms. The duct was disconnected. I submitted a claim with Home Shield online. I've had American Home Shield forever. I had them when I was in California also. Sometimes, when an offbeat person comes to my home who has been assigned by AHS, they’ll come in, walk and take a look at the furnace out here, or the refrigerator over there, and they'll tell you what’s wrong or that it isn’t what’s wrong or it’s my fault. They’re not here 15 minutes and they leave. But this guy was here forever and he was so nice. I have never had a gentleman come to my home and spend as much time working on my furnace so thoroughly that it actually works now.
I am so grateful that AHS sent Lam-Air instead of some offbeat brand of person to come to my house. I was appreciative of that. If AHS stays with Lam-Air as far as my heating service goes, they’ll do great. They’re wonderful people. Quite a while ago, AHS sent a man named Bill to work on my dishwasher and he too was one of those fantastic men that stay until the job is completely done and the product actually works.

We had a leak. There’s a small shower in our guestroom and when the shower was on, the hot water part was leaking. But our house is a 110-year-old Craftsman home and the walls are plaster walls, so it made it a little bit more challenging in terms of fixing it. So, the plumbing was all fine. I was a little disappointed that we ended up having to pay, with the repair of what we had to do, a little over $1,100 for it.
At first, I was told everything was gonna be covered. But then on the second part of the job, there was another leak. I had to pay $1,100 out of pocket between the plumber and the repair of the plaster that had to be repaired from what we had to cut out for him to have access to the problem. And the only negative thing was that we were first told everything was gonna be covered, only to find out halfway through the job, we were told that part of it wouldn’t be covered. So, that was traumatizing and was really unexpected. And thank God, we had the money because we already had giant holes on our walls by the time they said that. We had to reschedule them to come back to finish the job because we didn’t have the money when they told us and we had to wait till payday, for them to come back out.
The other thing that was not a good experience was when we had a problem with the air conditioning and the first company AHS gave the contract to called within an hour of that but then never showed up, never answered the phone, never returned the call to say, “I can’t do you,” nothing. I waited two days and then I left a message for him.
Then I called AHS and I went through the whole thing. I verified my phone number and my email. She put me on hold to check with the supervisor to see if they can change providers. We got disconnected. She never called me back. So then, I called the next day. I spoke with another lady who gave me her name and her ID number, said she was gonna take care of it. I never heard back from her. I called back again, spoke with another man and he told me he was gonna take care of it. Never heard back again.
So, the fourth time I called AHS to ask, “What do I do? I have openings underneath where the air conditioner ducts connect to the registers was leaking.” And I was sitting there having pictures of things crawling inside my house because the ductwork is open and it was freaking me out. It was Monday morning the last time I called. And I was aggravated by that time and I said, “You’re the fifth person I’ve talked to that’s telling me, swearing up and down, they’re gonna take care of it, and I just want to know if somebody’s going to call me back or if this is gonna be taken care of.”
And then finally, that time, I got a text within the hour that somebody was gonna call me. The company that they referred it to called and I got it scheduled for two days later. They came out and he handled the problem. It wasn’t a big deal, he just added tape around the thing. But that was not a good experience. And the three years we’ve had AHS, we’ve always had a very good experience until the air conditioning thing.

I can also do my claim on the Home Shield website but I wanted to get somebody live because I wanted to explain what really was happening to my AC. I can also do that online though.
I was told the contractor, Total Air Care, would be out between this hour and this hour and they were on time. They were really nice and we were given really excellent service. The tech told me stuff that I needed to do in order to keep the unit running and for the problem not to happen again. He gave me some advice on what to do like if I do something properly, I wouldn't have to call up the office unless something bad happened. The unit has been working really well and I followed the recommendation that he gave me.

A buddy of mine had a really good experience with American Home Shield. I went with them and so far I've had three different contracts for three different homes. So far, I've had fantastic luck with my main home in Loveland, Colorado. There, I had four things fixed including my claim last week for my furnace. AHS had people out relatively quickly and their contractor did my furnace. They also paid for 2/3s of it. Prior to that, they've also fixed my microwave, dishwasher and instant hot water heater.
However, I had a not so great experience with them in my condo in Steamboat. I needed somebody to come out for electrical and they could not find anyone. To be fair to them though, I called eight electricians too and only one or two called me back. It's difficult to find someone in that community. So, I dropped my contract for that condo. Still, I'm thrilled with my contract for my main home. My dad has also started a contract with AHS.

AHS is a good company and they're the best company of all the warranty companies. I've looked into the other competitors' warranty company and they may be a little cheaper but they don't have the 100% coverage that AHS offers. I may pay a couple more dollars but I'm paying for quality service. I have had my appliances broken down and they have repaired a lot of them.
I wish though that they start monitoring the companies that are coming in to work for them ‘cause a lot of them are no good. There are previous complaints about their performance or their job. In effect, it makes Home Shield look bad because they're sending out these people. I had a problem with the refrigerator cooling off and I lived out of ice chest for three weeks. That shouldn’t have happened. Home Shield had someone check it but I was not pleased. It took them three weeks to even attempt to fix my refrigerator.
I got mad with AHS. I asked why they were sending these people and they said they go by my zip code. I told them the techs that are out of Walker or Denham Springs get the job done right on the first time. That's when they sent National Platinum to me. The guy took his time and he looked at everything. The initial call had nothing to do with the ice maker but he also attempted to fix it. He had notified AHS that the part is not replaceable. Whatever the other contractor did, they messed up the ice maker. It took two attempts from the same company to try to fix the refrigerator in the first place.
The guy was very nice and professional. He had his mask and his gloves on and I was not offended. He was very quiet and got the job done. In the end, he made sure that I was satisfied with the decision AHS made about the ice maker. They're gonna replace my refrigerator because of the problem I had with the previous guys they've sent out. If I had another appliance broken, I'd rather it's from National Platinum to come out. They took care of me and I had been a very pleased customer. I work for a casino and people always ask me out in the broad if I know a good warranty company. I recommend AHS and I tell them they can look at other companies but they have to look at what Home Shield offers.

But, he was not a low voltage electrician, and I told them what he said and I asked for a low voltage electrician who was familiar with handling thermostats between the inside unit and the outside unit. The air conditioning technician fixed it, but it is still not protected. He said, "I wanted to put it in a conduit. Then seal up the whole in the foundation where the wire runs through," but he was not prepared to do that. American Home Shield should screen whoever they are going to send out. Crispy Air & Heating came out for a heating issue and they were quite efficient. They found the source of the issue right away, fixed it and left. They were great. They needed to fill the Freon in the air conditioner portion of the heat pump. And then we found a wire that had disconnected from the air handler, and they found that and reconnected it. So, that fixed everything related to the heater and the air conditioner portion of the heat pump.
I submitted a claim for a different issue. It was for a water heater. If it’s standard practice to do something when you install a water heater, but it’s considered something that they need to do extra by American Home Shield, they will make you pay for it. And they’ve trained the contractors to call it a certain thing in their estimate so that you end up paying for it separately from your $100.
I had the water heater leak. It was 15 years and it caused a bunch of problems in the house, which the home insurance took care of. But it did not have a pan underneath it, which is code. And we had purchased the house a few years ago, so we weren’t there when it was built. And also, there was something with the connection to the wires. And it was the same wires they were going to connect to, but they said that they had to redo them to ensure that they would connect properly, which is ridiculous ‘cause it was the same water heater. So, it really bothered me that I had to pay $400 to the contractor to do this work when it’s standard practice.

My wife had sent an email to American Home Shield for our AC that wasn’t working properly. A guy from AAA All Appliance came early in the morning the next day. We’ve had AHS for years, and I had difficulty one time on my claim on my drive door opener. I ran into problems with the company that was coming out and working on it. They said they had to come back. It was not a good experience. I finally had to stop with them, and I had to get somebody else to come and fix it. AHS tried to charge me, and I said, “No way. I pay once, that’s it. And you’re supposed to fix it.” Finally, that was what they did.
Also some of the times, it takes a while before a contractor gets here. But this last time, we called and the guy called and said he’d be here the next morning. He was right on time and he was very good. What I don’t like too is somebody says they’ll be here between 8:00 and 1:00, and they show up at 3:00. Everything seems to be fine lately though.

I have four properties and I have four warranties, and any time it’s something small and easy to fix, AHS has been great. But any time there's something that’s a little bit more expensive like electrical panel needs to be replaced, then they find a way to decline it. They should honor the full fixing of the issue rather than just patching or declining anything of substance that needs to be repaired.

The only thing that I have a major problem with American Home Shield is if the provider comes out two or three times for the same problem, they should try to reconcile and do something different. The contractor came out for my toilet about three or four times for the same issue with my toilet and I just need a new toilet. AHS just don't wanna give me one and toilets only cost $100. They like to patch things up. Also, I had a guy that just recently came out for my garage door. It's the wiring. Some of the metal parts on the door kinda got loose and they will eventually jump out. But that was not covered. I don't get it. I don't know why they will not cover a garage door.
But for the most part, they've done pretty good work with their service providers. Recently SWAT Plumbing came out. The shower heater was leaking and the bathtub faucet was leaking. I also thought I had a problem with my kitchen sink but it didn't happen while the tech was there. I had no problems with him. He took care of everything quickly and everything was fixed. It's good to have a warranty.

I’ve been in this house for eight years and I've had American Home Shield since. It’s easy to call them if I have repairs that need to be done to my house and it’s a lot less expensive than calling someone directly. If I ask them to add a note to my account, like I don’t want Sears ever coming to my house or I like Blue Star Plumbing, they know to put that into my account, if I have a plumbing issue, to call Blue Star, because I trust them.
Overall, the contractors have been really good and there were only two I didn't like. American Home Shield is decent but they need to do a better job at vetting some of the companies they contract with. There's one particular company that came to my house four times, and finally, I told them I’m done with them. I read reviews about them and a lot of American Home Shield customers were saying that they were awful. They need to digest the reviews that they're getting from their customers biannually and sometimes do an overhaul of who they have contracts with.

He said he was gonna come back and he said he would come back at such and such a time. He called me right at that time and said he was gonna be a little bit late because he was running late from a previous job. So, other than that, everything went well. The claim was all taken care of and it went smoothly. I've had American Home Shield for three different houses in the last three years. I've had issues and they helped me with them. I like to have a home warranty because I have a fixed service call. When I know that I am covered, I have more control over my expenses. Another thing I like is that I don't have to choose the vendor. I expect that the person that the home warranty company sends to my home is already a good vendor because it is highly rated by the company. It's much easier for me. I only need to make one call and I am done. I don't need to be dealing with multiple vendors and trying to make the choice of who is going to be doing my repair every time something different breaks. Those are the two things that I value the most. When I had a plumbing issue and made a claim with Home Shield, that was okay. They sent out MacLin Plumbing for that. The concern I have though is that I had to call three times for the same service until they fixed it right. But I didn't have any out of pocket more than the service fee which was what I expected.

I am discounting my business relations with AHS effective immediately! After almost 20 years as a customer, I am extremely frustrated that I have paid money into a scheme that offers none of the peace of mind advertised. I called in January 2020 after observing my water heater pipe leaking. I paid the $75 evaluation fee and a plumber from Mayes Plumbing was dispatched. I later received a rambling phone message from an AHS representative who listed all of the “other” parts needed but were not covered by my AHS plan & out of pocket costs. I called AHS back and asked for the list to be emailed to my address (the same one you send the newsletter to) and I was told it could not be emailed but that it would be sent out via US Post. That was in January and the list of parts needed & out of pocket costs still has not arrived.
On 3/13//2020, I called Mayes Plumbing to schedule appointment after my travels concluded. I spoke to Tony in scheduling who repeated the list and out of pocket costs. Tony also promised to email “the list” but it never arrived. Later, Tony shared that he did not have schedule for week of 3/23/20 available so I should call back the following week and check availability. I asked Tony if the $75 evaluation fee would be deducted from the cost quoted? Tony stated that the $75 was paid to AHS not Mayes Plumbing but he could offer a 10% discount on installation of new hot water heater if I paid with cash.
On 3/23/2020, I called Mayes Plumbing again to schedule the installation appointment. I spoke to a young woman who shared that now I needed to obtain a flue inspection by another vendor before the installation could take place. This is another cost that AHS does not cover. I am very wary of the burgeoning costs. It's absolutely unacceptable. AHS has failed me and I plan to discourage friends, family and strangers from investing in the fraudulent scheme.
We do apologize for the inconvenience. We also do apologize the agent was not clear in explaining the out of pocket costs. We know water heater issues and many other issues can be a hassle. We do thank you in sharing your experience with us and would be more than happy to speak with you to come to a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further with this matter.

We called AHS on Feb 20th regarding a water pipe leak. They said it is covered under warranty, and requested we pay $125 before they would send a plumber. The plumber came the next day, and said the issue was not covered under warranty, and it would cost us $1500 to repair it. We called another plumber who said he could fix it for $400, which he did. We asked AHS to refund us the $125 service call fee since the first plumber would not fix it under warranty. They said it is under review, yet it has been 5 weeks. My husband has called multiple times and just gets the runaround.

Ray Stovall Plumbing came out for a plumbing issue and I feel much better about him than previous contractors that AHS has brought to us. Ray was very honest, efficient, professional, and accommodating. He's supposed to come back and install the showerhead. Other than that, it went really well. A previous contractor claimed that the issue with my faucet was covered by a lifetime warranty from the faucet company, but that wasn't true. Ray obviously knew what he was doing, what the issue was, and that the parts, which were not under a lifetime warranty, needed to be replaced. Moreover, he found the correct part on the very same day, came back and replaced it very quickly.
AHS should consider replacing the appliance after replacing the same part for the fifth time. It's a lost cause, but you're paying $75 for people to come in to replace the part over and over again. I purchased an AHS plan for up to two years. My two years will be in May of this year. I haven't renewed it yet but I'm planning to renew it soon.

I like the AC contractors. They did exactly what they needed to do and fixed things that were not right. They were very good. I had them come back a second time to make sure it was good for the summer coming up. It sounded like it was making funny noises but the guy opened up the air handler and it's all mildew. It's 20 years old and we're contemplating just buying a new system.
I've had American Home Shield since April 11th of last year and I just had two service calls. I had one right after I bought the place and they added a pound of cooling chemical in the lines. There were also some leaks in the garage. Leaving the air handler part going up to the ceiling, there were breaks in the material holding the ductwork going up to the attic. They fixed all that and they did a good job. Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield.

What American Home Shield advertises is basically what you get. You can do your claims both on the phone or online. You put in a claim and they come right out to evaluate the situation. If they can fix something, they’ll repair it. If not, they’ll replace it. But they should improve the time-lapse. My refrigerator went out and it took me almost a month to get a new one. And even when I kinda agreed to go buy one, they’d just reimburse me. It was like, “You try to be almost a month without a refrigerator.” They sent a technician out here and he said that they had to order a part. That took a while. Once they found out that the part was no longer made, that took a whole lot of time to get corrected. I was without a refrigerator for all that time when I could have gone and bought one then they could have just reimbursed me. But they have their rules and their policies.

The heat went off and it turned out it was a gas valve up in the unit wasn’t allowing any gas to come in from outside to turn on the heat. The tech did a good job. He was fairly quick to come out after I called in the claim. It took him a day to do the job because he found the problem and then had to go back to the office the following morning to make sure the unit was the proper unit and then, he brought it out and hooked it up and it was fine.
The tech was a very nice, young kid. He was very friendly. He was alert and he knew what he was doing. He got some coaching from over the phone to make sure it was the proper utensil to stick in there and he was fine. He offered to come back at some other time and made sure our air conditioning was gonna be fine for the summertime. So I was very pleased and content at how this was fixed. American Home Shield came with the house 30 years ago and they didn’t fix anything which was very frustrating. I haven’t had them again until I purchased this house and I've used them a couple of times. I'm probably paying more for it because the things I've had fixed have been small and would have been $70. I've probably not saved any money, but it's just peace of mind.
When I had an electrical issue that happened five months ago, Beacon Hill Electric came out and they didn’t find the problem. They just flipped the breaker. I was frustrated. The guy wasn't sure he found what was wrong. He said that if in 30 days it would happen again, he could fix it at no charge. It was just a waste of my money but they were nice enough about it. Once it happened again, all of a sudden, I realized the guy was looking for a light, and I figured it out. When I called him and pointed it out, he fixed it and that fixed everything.

The gas company reported a leak and they complained that because of that, they shut down the HVAC. They were also complaining that the heater was not working. So, there were calls to come and check if there was any. When the contractor came, I showed him where the equipment was located. He went ahead and told me that he was gonna test for a leak. When he was done, he explained the product he used and the reaction that showed that there was no leak at all. Then, he explained that one of the tubes were into something and they were not supposed to be in. He had to take them out.
So far, the only issue that I’ve had with American Home Shield is that the contractor for the water heater took too long to get here. I had to spend more than a week without warm water and when they came, they discovered that some of the equipment I needed were bad. That took much longer again for it to get here. I have to use a water heater to warm my water before I could take a shower. So, that was hard for me. The agent was recommending that I wait for a service fee for HVAC to go through before I go ahead. But I couldn’t stay in the cold and also, the contractor could only work mornings and it’s unrealistic because I’m off to work during that time. So far, the guys at AHS have been nice but I wasn’t comfortable with the waiting time.

The technicians identified the problem with the heater, fixed it, and even did a little service while they were here. They were very nice. There were no additional charges, except for when I had them change the filters which you didn’t pay for. It went very smoothly. Other times, when you had a bigger problem, it was a little bit more difficult.
When I’ve had a water heater issue, that was a lot more difficult. They jack up the prices when they come because they have to do it all legal. Most people don’t take permits just to change a water heater. I had to go and hire my own person to come do it, and then get reimbursed from your company. AHS paid me for the cost of the water heater but not the installation. I’ve learned what you get and what you don’t get and I’ve stayed with Home Shield. Other than that everything’s fine.

The plumber was very, very nice and very respectful, but I was glad my husband was here because he wanted to do things that really made no sense. We kinda knew where the leak was coming from and it was just common sense to us. We have a crawlspace underneath our house. The night that I called to make an appointment with the contractor, my husband had crawled underneath the house and he saw where it was coming from. So when the plumber got here, I told him where my husband crawled underneath the house and where the leak was coming from. The plumber crawled underneath the house too and he said he could see where the ground was wet and we should look right above that. But he wanted to cut a hole in our subfloor. But we have crawlspace.
When he was telling me this, I told him to hang on and I called my husband and made him come home. So my husband came home and he told the plumber what he needed to do. But to satisfy him, he cut a hole on the wall on the dining room side. We already knew that it was coming from the bathroom side of the wall, so it was completely on the other side. There’s like a stem wall in the middle of our house and the south side was our dining room and the north side was our bathroom. But it has to be coming through our bathroom and not our dining room because there’s no plumbing in our dining room. But that’s where he wanted to cut the hole in the wall.
When they finally went into the bathroom side wall, we saw it right away. We had the water turned off. As soon as we noticed we had a leak, we turned off the water and turned it on when we needed it. So the plumber opened up the wall and we turned on the water, and you could see where it was squirting down on the back side of the shower nozzle where you turn on the water in the shower. He didn't have any supplies on his truck but he said he couldn’t go buy one. So my husband went out and got a plug so we can plug it to turn our water back on. In the meantime, he said he had to order the part. He was supposed to show up today to put in the part that he had to order and connect the copper to the pipe that he ordered.
As of right now, I would still recommend American Home Shield, only because when I first called to make an appointment for the plumber, the plumbing company did get back to me the day after but it was in the evening when I called. But then they wanted to wait four days, so I called American Home Shield and told them it wasn't gonna work because it’s our water, and they got it expedited.

I submit claims with Home Shield online and then a contractor usually comes out in one to two days. A-US came to check our air conditioning unit which wasn’t working properly. He was professional. But when he called me back, he was not. I wasn’t satisfied with his diagnosis. Home Shield called to tell me what I would be out of pocket, and then I expressed my concerns and they relayed that information to the company. The very next day, the tech called me back and I told him that we were seeking a second opinion.
He just laughed at me and said that the lady I talked to at Home Shield and the person who suggested we get a second opinion both didn’t know what they were talking about. He just said, “I'm sure we’ll be hearing from you to get this installed.” We ended up going with our second opinion because with that air conditioning company, we would have been out of pocket $1,600. With the air conditioning company we ended up using, we were only out of pocket 245. And both of our units are being replaced outside and inside, which they were both needed, not just the upstairs unit.
American Home Shield found that company when I asked for the second opinion. I asked them for somebody closer to us because the first company that we did not like came from Dallas. The second company was from Cooper, which is a smaller town and they had better rates as opposed to a bigger city company. They found somebody closer to us and we’re 100% satisfied. I was 100% satisfied with our second opinion and the company that we used to do it. We like Home Shield a lot. We just bought a house and the person we bought from purchased the home warranty, but we’ve also used them in the past at our recent house that we sold.

I've had American Home Shield for a while. A couple of years ago, I used them. I called about for the hot water heater again. I couldn't understand why AHS wanted to go back with the same hot water heater. I wanted to have a different one because this was the third time with this particular hot water heater, and I didn't wanna go with it anymore, but I had to go with it because that was what they wanted to help me with.
Another thing, I didn't know that I had to go and put in the report online. I didn't know how that was going to work but I was contacted by AHS immediately to assign someone to come out. It's been working pretty well. Recently something wasn't working and J & A Appliance did what they came out to do. It went well. My husband seems to be satisfied.

We have been with American Home Shield for 12 years and when something couldn't be fixed, they would replace the product without any problems. The service call fee of $75 is okay and it’s awesome when it doesn't go over. But AHS should find different contractors and should not use people who are gonna rip you off. We had to get a water heater replaced and we came out of pocket way too much. We were kinda stuck because our water had literally been off for probably a week. The contractor didn't contact us and they overcharged us. I wrote a review on their website and everybody was saying that they were a rip-off. I didn't know that then and it was too late. Also, we have a pretty good-sized town here that you would think AHS would use more local, but they use more out of town.
The last time we got our heater fixed, which is the recent experience, the overall experience with that company went good. The guys cleaned up after themselves and they didn’t overcharge us. They had good deals and they asked us for something that they needed to do. They said it would cost another 100 and we declined it, which I'm glad they didn't just tack it on and then not tell us.

Home Shield's process seemed pretty easy. However, we've had to kick one contractor out of our house. He was sent to us and was just very problematic, caused more problems to our equipment than in the beginning, and there were multiple lawsuits against him in our town. I found out as I was complaining on social media about that guy. And then, when a year and a half or so later I had a problem with our HVAC and put in the online form, Home Shield sent that same guy back out so we had to cancel that. They don't have a way to permanently block a contractor from coming out. I would have to call and do it manually.
Home Shield apologized. They canceled out the order and put in an order with a different contractor, but that was it. They should improve that type of process so if we ever had problems with our HVAC unit, I wouldn't have to call the. Instead, I can use their online technology because that has significantly improved over the last couple of years.

Submitting the claim online was quick, and On Time Plumbing & Heating was great. The service was good and they were prompt. They were out here that day and had it fixed. I was satisfied with the timeframe. The guy was swamped and there were some more issues that he was not able to take care of, but I was able to take care of them. American Home Shield said that I could do three plumbing claims at one time, but they should allow you to file more than that. There are four sinks in the house and if all four are leaking, they will say that I will have to do each sink individually as a claim. But then, they only let you do three.

The only thing was we are in Houston and it was getting warm. We couldn't get someone out for a couple of days but that was because Three Brothers was all booked up. That was the only delay. Other than that, everything worked fine. Our AC has been working since then. I’ve had a good experience so far with AHS. Our dryer stopped working one time. We also had an issue with our ice maker in our refrigerator. It made ice but then the ice would start melting on the bottom of the tray. So, we would get this huge block of ice that forms. Every two or three days, I would have to go in, pull the ice tray out and chunk up all the ice to get it out so that we could get new ice in it. We submitted a claim through American Home and they sent out an appliance repairman who has really poor reviews on Yelp about his timeliness and his ability to perform repairs. He said that he had to order a part for the dryer which he did. It came two weeks ago and he came back and repaired the dryer. He then said that the issue was not the part that he replaced but the motor. I don't understand how he didn’t troubleshoot that right away.
For the refrigerator, he said that the issue was a compressor and he is still waiting on that part. We understand the parts that they're ordering are being affected by Coronavirus. We are also being affected because my wife developed some symptoms and she got tested. We’re waiting on her test to come back. Meanwhile, we’re supposed to show up at a certain place, we have to wash laundry and I do not have a way to dry it.
If AHS' tech is troubleshooting, I expect him to troubleshoot everything that could be wrong. It’s their job to know. I called American Home Shield because the technician said that I could call AHS and ask them if it would be easier to replace the appliance when I called him to ask about the part and how we were progressing. AHS said that the decision comes from him. I told AHS that the tech said that the decision comes from AHS. Plus, when I called, the rep had a really thick accent. I didn't have a problem with that but she sounded like she was on a cellphone connection. She kept dropping in and out.
We eventually worked that issue out and she called the appliance guy while I was on the phone. According to her though, the appliance guy said that my appliance is still repairable and didn't need to be replaced. I told her that was not what the tech told me on the phone. I told her the tech told me to call AHS to see if it would be better to just get my unit replaced since it was difficult to get parts for it. I've been stuck with a machine that I can't use for four weeks now and AHS won't replace it.
There are many reports on Yelp about the repairman not communicating with customers at all and them having to chase him down. I understand he may be busy but he has a responsibility to the people that he's doing work for. It’s been a nightmare dealing with this. If the tech has such bad reports, AHS should find him and tell him what they expect. If AHS can't do that, they should find someone else to do the job. We’re actually looking at going to see if USAA has homeowner's policies and we're switching to them. It may not be better but at least we know where our premium’s going and we know it comes out of one account. While no one at AHS has been rude to me, there has been difficulty.
We understand that there are things that are going on but no one is communicating with us. A week and a half ago, when I went to my AHS dashboard, it showed that the job has been completed. I called AHS immediately and their rep told me the job was completed. I told them it wasn't. Also, the tech told me when he left that he was gonna order a new motor for the dryer. He was gonna tell AHS that. AHS told me yesterday that they had no record of him ordering a new motor for my driver. The rep had to get that info with him and she told me that the tech said he ordered the part last week. For some reason, AHS's system is showing that it wasn't ordered.
This weekend, my wife is finally getting better. She’s on her 14 days of being quarantined, and she’s pretty symptom-free. But, I still have to go do laundry. I still have to wash our clothing and then take it out somewhere and dry it. We've dealt with a week, maybe two. But now, we’re going on four and we haven’t even seen a repair job yet that worked.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

I called AHS and spoke to a live person for a slab leak. They said that the contractor would call me within 24 hours. I was disappointed with First American Plumbing. Lonnie, the plumber, did a good job and checked everything out. He explained what he was doing and then told me that I had a slab leak, which I knew. He told me that their solution was to tunnel under the house, under the slab, to get to the leak and repair it. He also told me that it would cost me $8,666. He said that if I paid him the $8,000 that day, I'd have a 10% discount. I talked to my wife and he went to the car to call AHS. Then AHS called me and said that they talked to the plumber. I said that $8,666 was kinda high and that I was gonna get a second opinion.
I called my insurance company, and they said that they’d send somebody out to look at it. The one they sent somebody did the same thing that Lonnie did. I was told that I could get the repair done for less than $8,666 with a plumbing bypass through my attic and through the walls. I was told that it would cost $2,088 and I could get it done in one day. Other than that, I’m satisfied with AHS.

I recently purchased my home and within the first month of moving in I noticed the inside coating in the cavity of the microwave was peeling. I filed a claim with AHS and they sent a technician out to service it. The next day I was called by AHS telling me that this is not covered under the protection plan that was purchased through my escrow. They also said that the microwave was functioning properly.
After reviewing the online manual through ** (the microwave is a GE product) it clearly states that if the coating is cracked or peeling to immediately stop using the microwave as this means that radiation could be leaking out of the microwave. I called AHS and contested this point with them several times and they continued to tell me that the microwave was working. They clearly could care less about the safety of my family if radiation could be leaking out of the microwave. I have young children and will not risk their health so I purchased a brand new microwave as was recommended by GE. It is unfortunate that a company would not follow the recommendation of the manufacturer of the product they are covering.

I had my stove fixed once and American Home Shield’s service is good but a lot of times, they don't pay for certain things, which is a problem. They would send somebody out and the technician would say that they couldn’t fix it, then our money would not be given back to us. AHS would say that they sent the contractor out and that there was nothing wrong. But they charged us the $75 and they should not do that. They should put a credit on the account.
Right now, AHS sent someone out who tried to fix the garage door opener and the guy said that it couldn't be repaired. They have to replace it. So, I'm gonna give them a call because the guy said that they don't add the battery. By California law, you gotta have a battery backup for the garage door opener and AHS should pay for that. The technician doesn’t think they’re gonna pay for it. So I'm gonna call AHS today, talk to the supervisor and find out why they won't cover the battery backup. Because they have to replace the unit and most of the unit comes with battery backup.
Sometimes, you just wanna talk to the customer service people but not the customer service that answers every day and refers you to a supervisor. They don't explain things. They need to explain a little bit better so people would understand, which is one problem that I have. This just happened recently. Otherwise, everything is fine and AHS, which I’ve had for about 15 years, is very good.

I have one kid in Michigan and one kid in Indiana. And after that, I talked to my son in Indiana. My son is faithful and loyal to American Home Shield. He'd been with American Home Shield for 10 years. He said, "Mom, even if you don't use the house and you are not staying in the house, the house still needs repair. So please, have it back." So, I got it back last November. Recently, the contractor that AHS sent for our garage door motor seemed okay. I like the quality of his work. In the future, I might recommend him to my friend or whoever needs it.
Kim,
Thanks for letting us know how everything worked out for you and thanks for recommending our technician. We look forward to helping you in the future. Take Care.

We bought this condo that came with the AHS warranty and my wife and I were having a debate last year over whether to renew it or not 'cause I'm typically not a warranty insurance kind of guy. But we have a lot of appliances that are not cheap here and it's a roll of the dice a little bit. The only issue we've had so far is the garbage disposal. Around here, it would cost 500 bucks to get somebody and get it in, and you're jacked around. Recently, we filed a claim and everything went well. When the tech showed up the first time, the garbage disposal wasn't leaking like it had been every single day so he couldn't fix it. We ended up having to call him back and it was leaking like a sieve. When he came back the second time, he fixed it. He was polite, he took his shoes off and he was in and out. He did his job while I was on a conference call. I shoved some nasty stuff through it last night and it's still doing all right.
Also, we live out in Florida where we run our air conditioner year-round. I'm worried about that but we also do maintenance on it twice a year. We've been happy with who we've had and that's what we're talking about the other day. If something went bad with it, they're gonna call somebody in we don't really know and trust. Still, I've been impressed with AHS so far. It's better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be a rigmarole but I was surprised that one phone call got the garbage disposal taken care of. We didn't have to call and beg somebody to come out and end up saying we will do it ourselves.
Craig,
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

The technician AHS sent from Blue Ridge Mountain is incredible. I had him out here before on another repair with American Home Shield and he did a fabulous job. The big problem though is scheduling. The first time I had them, they were scheduled to arrive on a certain date and time window, and they didn’t come. They also didn’t call, so I started calling when the time window passed. They told me that they had gotten tied up and they’d have to make it the next day.
The next day, that tech showed up and the company apologized for what happened. For my recent claim, the same thing happened. They didn’t call and I took a day off from work. So, I spent the whole day waiting. Finally, I started calling and as it turned out, for the job right before ours, the water main had broken and they're having a hard time getting the city out. Still, Blue Ridge has one heck of a technician in Daniel. The guy knows his stuff and does more than he needs to in terms of making sure everything is right. His checkout is very thorough, makes sure I'm completely satisfied. I would still highly recommend them. Blue Ridge better pay him a lot of money to keep him. So far, everything has been good with our AHS coverage. We've had it for years and years. Every year, we renew it. Some years, we use it. Some years, we don't. But it’s nice to have that confidence that if anything goes wrong, it’s covered without a huge fee. I'm very happy.
Cyrus,
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Updated on 05/15/2020: Great company. Well last month we put in a worker order for pipe leak behind the washing machine. Had to have asbestos test paid out of pocket so the plumber can come back. Then plumber said, "pipe leak is in the slab." Haven't heard back from him in two weeks 7 weeks and no resolution. The we put in a work order for our Air Conditioner 4 weeks ago. AC tech has been out three times to diagnose and test for leaks, and that's not resolved. The put in a work order for exhaust fan in an attic that's been denied. Exhaust fan tech noticed the duct work was broken. Put in work order for duct repair. Duct repair guy came out Monday and took pictures. Did say there was asbestos on the broken ducts that has to be removed. Still waiting on everything to get done. Can't wait until they take care of everything.
Original Review: We had a problem with the washing machine and the first tech that AHS sent out was from City First. His name was Dmitri and he determined that the washing machine wasn't leaking and that the problem was with a pipe in the wall. Then he arranged to transfer the claim to a plumber. The first plumber who came out was from Up2Code and the guy's name was Eric. When he came, he was not wearing a mask or gloves. Then he asked when the house was built and I told him that I needed to check. And he told me he couldn't do anything until after there was an asbestos test.
I then called an asbestos guy but when he came into the house, he looked to the wall and said he needed $1,500. The name of that company was Best Asbestos Testing and since I wasn't gonna pay him $1,500, he demanded $129 of cash just to leave after 10 minutes. I didn't have any cash at the time, so I was gonna write them a check, but he wouldn't accept the check. Instead, he took a debit card payment. So, I'm not very happy. I then called another asbestos guy and he agreed to come out for 350. But the house was built in 1985 and there is no asbestos. And at the moment, we're waiting for the asbestos guy to come out and test it. He's supposed to call me back to make an appointment. After he comes out, AHS will sent the tech out, prepare the pipe, and put in the new drywall.
I also worked with City First Electric for my cooktop and I spoke with this guy who was the same guy who came out to look at my dryer. He said that it needed a new igniter and that he couldn't find a new igniter both times when I saw him. Then they had a second repairman come out and he said it was abuse. But the first guy didn't put down anything about abuse. And the cooktop is probably 30 years old now and it's not abuse. I paid 350 to get more guys to come out and sent AHS the bill, but they kept denying the claim for 350 over a $20 part. So, if AHS could reimburse me for that, I'd greatly appreciate it. I tried following up with them but my experience sucked. All in all, AHS is great if I need a plumber to come out for a simple clog or to replace something easy, but once something requires a second opinion, the process goes on for months.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

American Home Appliance, however, did not fix my icemaker that was not making ice when they first came to do the work. They had to come back a second time and then they found something that was wrong. They ordered more parts, but they have not come back to complete the job yet. My wife was at home when the contractors came and from what I could gather, they seemed to be nice. The only problem I had with AHS is that somebody called me on the phone and they could not pronounce my name. Nevertheless, they have been responsive.

Originally, American Home Shield was able to give me what I wanted as an upgrade. It was a Kenmore dryer and for some reason, they were unable to have the dryer delivered and I couldn't pick it up at any place. I tried to go back and get a different kind of dryer and I couldn't find one that worked as well. So, I ended up getting the reimbursement and order the dryer myself. It would have saved me several hundred dollars if I had gotten the dryer through them like originally planned. Also, they're supposed to be sending a check for that but I haven't received it yet. Other than that, the contractor from Bell's Appliance was great and the claim went okay.

The instrument display, the pushbutton pad on the front and some of the buttons in my dishwasher quit working. I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield in the evening and the next day, the technician called me to set it up. It was three days before they could make it out but with all of this going on, I have no problem with that. They’ve done other stuff for us in the past so, they’ve always been good about being on top of getting out here to check on us. The dishwasher was non-repairable so I am waiting for a call for the new one to come in and be installed.
AHS is usually good about getting somebody assigned and getting them on whatever issues that we've had. So, overall, we’ve had good luck with whatever issues we’ve got being handled quickly. We’re happy with our service and it has saved me multiple times. When we bought our first home, we had the home warranty. I was seven and a half months pregnant with my daughter and our AC went out. We called the home warranty and we told them. They said it was an emergency because I was pregnant. It was in the middle of June and July so, they expedited everything for us. We will have this home warranty until we can’t have it anymore. When we sold our other house, we signed on the home warranty beforehand. So, anything that went wrong while we were in the process of selling the house was automatically covered. So, what we have learned is to keep the home warranty until they tell you that they won’t do it anymore.

I smelled gas, so the contractor came out and checked the furnace. The repairman was very communicative. He was specific and he told me what he was doing. I was very happy with him. I've had AHS for over 15 years. But in the past, when I dealt with customer service on the phone, they were not the best. Sometimes, I felt like it was an attitude and it was very frustrating. Because usually when you’re calling, there’s a problem, and it should be people who are understanding and not who are gonna be antagonistic for you, and I find that that’s been the case in the past. People should read the fine print before getting the policy because there are many things that are excluded that you think would be included and then you find out after the fact that they are not.

The garage door would not open. When you push the button, it should wanna go up but instead, it couldn’t do it. So I just pulled the cord and manhandled it until K.T.M. Door Control came. The gentleman they sent out was Tim and I really liked him. I told him what the garage door was doing and he diagnosed it by just jumping on the ladder. He looked inside the housing and went, “Yup, that’s it.” He figured what it was by what I said to him. It was the assembly and he fixed it in about 15 minutes. He greased it up real good and it hadn’t sounded that good since I bought my house in 2004. I was very impressed with the speed in which he did it. He also didn’t try to upsell me because I'm a woman or try to tell me I needed rollers. He got the job done that was needed and that was it. He was very nice and polite.
I've had Home Shield since 1999 from the condo that I had. When I moved into my house in 2004, I didn’t have it because I had a warranty with the builder for a year. But when my year was up, I went back to Home Shield and I've had them ever since. I've been with Home Shield since the cost was $35 for a service call. I miss that. But I've always been satisfied with the service and I’ve determined to always keep it, which I have for like 15 years in this house and about five in the other house. So for 20 years I've had Home Shield.
I haven’t used the warranty a lot but on the times I've used the warranty, Home Shield saved me a lot of money. The only time I ever had a displeasure was when some air conditioner man tried to screw me out of $1,000. He was telling me all these things I needed outside of the repair that would be handled by Home Shield. I just looked at him and said I would have to get back with him. Then I called somebody that I knew that was an air conditioner man. He came out, looked at it and said nothing on the list was anything I needed. He said the other guy was just trying to get extra money. I got mad and threw away the name but I wish I'd kept it because if I ever needed something else, I wanna make sure I don’t get that company.
That was the only time I ever ran across one of Home Shield’s vendors that truly saw me as a woman who didn’t know anything and thought he could put this over on me. He wanted to even replace the pan underneath the air conditioner and that pan was not even that old. There was nothing wrong with that pan. Otherwise, I think Home Shield vets the vendors real good. There's always gonna be somebody who slides by but I don't know if that contractor is still with Home Shield or not.
I’ve always trusted Home Shield. I've also completely read the paperwork so I knew what was covered and what was not covered, which is very helpful to know because, in the beginning of time, I would ask if something was covered and they would tell me they wouldn’t know until someone comes out here. Then later, as time passed, American Home Shield did not say those words anymore. They just said, “Oh, yes, ma’am, that’s covered.” It was like the people in the past didn’t wanna tell me what was within the contract. That was when I started reading the contract cover to cover.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

At our last home, we bought a lot of appliances and did a lot of things through Sears. They offered us the full house warranty and purchased it from them. The first time we used it, it took over a month just to get approval for an air conditioner repair and then we found out that they only covered one of my units, not both. I wasn’t happy at all. I researched for American Home Shield. There was a lot of good and there was some bad just as well based on the pros and cons and also the amount of coverage I could get. They cover multiple units, they cover my swimming pool, and they’ll cover my septic system. I couldn’t beat it. My recent claim with AHS went pretty well. The contractor came in. He was very professional and took precautions ‘cause of the virus. And so, he did what he had to do and didn't take long. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with American Home Shield. I also haven't had a problem with anyone that they sent out to my residence. Sometimes, the transferring of the phone calls, they send you to different people. But I understand that’s probably not their level of expertise, so that’s why they have to do a lot of the transferring phone calls. And it’s just part of the process. I recently canceled my policy with them, though, because I’m moving out of this house. I have my brand-new home. But once that is over, I’ll pick American Home Shield back up again.

They thought it was an in-the-roof fan but it was the light and the ceiling fan in the sunroom. They sent out Certified Electric Technologies. Usually, a contractor calls me within 24 hours to set up an appointment. Depending on my work schedule and theirs, it can take upwards of a week or so and sometimes two weeks. I had another claim for a plumbing issue which I called about and AHS assigned a contractor. The contractor called me and he came the same day. I have used American Home Shield years ago in a home that my husband and I had purchased. They were great then. I chose Select the year before when I first moved into this house and they were horrible. It was like pulling teeth to get them to cover anything. But with American Home Shield, you pretty much know up front what they’re gonna do and with this recent claim, I was perfectly satisfied.
I had lights that were flickering and one that you would turn it on and then in a little bit, would turn itself off. These were lined up with each other, one in front of the other on my ceiling, so I thought it might be related. Kingdom Electric came when I didn’t think they would be able to come because COVID-19 had just started. They were considered essential workers, so that was really good for me on my part because I had otherwise a dark kitchen to work in.
As it turned out, it had more to do with the plug. On one of them, the tech worked on it and he said, “I've done everything I can do. The only thing left to do is replace the whole light fixture itself.” He said that American Home Shield did not allow them to do that, if that’s what it needed. Now, it does stop after a second or two, but it is still flickering when I turn it on. The other one’s bright, though. The tech redid some stuff inside it and then worked on the plug itself and said he thought it was probably the plug and that was the problem. They left and it started doing the same thing again, so I called them back. They weren’t very far away so they came back. That was very considerate. Kingdom Electric were great guys.
All in all, I’m very happy and would definitely recommend American Home Shield. The only thing with them, and I think all service providers are the same on that, is for some reason, when it’s an electrical problem, the deductible is raised to $100, and you pay that up front. Maybe they’ve had some problems in the past with vendors not getting paid by the homeowner, or them just wanting to see as to whether or not they should be paid maybe if they couldn’t solve the problem or the problem is laid in an area where American Home Shield would not be responsible. That’s the only throwback I have about it at all. People need to know that up front when they buy their policy. They just need to know and then they make their choice.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

My hot water tank went out and it was gonna flood my walk-in closet. With everything else that’s going on in the world right now, it’s a little bit harder with people’s hours being changed. Under normal life experiences, anytime I’ve called their number, somebody always answers right away. But this time, I had a hard time getting ahold of American Home Shield. I realize they’re working from home as well, but I had a much harder time. I spent a good hour trying to reach them to see if they were open. I am one of the people that are completely without income right now due to the situation going on in our country. I didn’t wanna spend that $100 on that service call until I knew for sure that American Home Shield was actually up and running.
I ended up going online and looking for people. Champion was one of the places that worked with American Home Shield. I contacted them and the lady named Andrea answered. She was fantastic and she went above and beyond. She said she has a number that they use and she would try and contact Home Shield and make sure that they’re up and running. She called and it took her some time as well, but she got through to American Home Shield. Then, she called me back and she said to go back on the phone and keep trying to get through to them. I requested her to do the job and she said it was fine. I got back on the phone and thankfully got through to somebody at American Home Shield, explained what I needed, and requested for Champion Plumbing. They set it up and they handled it very expediently. Once that was a done deal, they were able to finally get somebody out here at 3 o’clock in the afternoon that day.
The way my hot water tank is situated needs more than one person to do the job of taking it out and putting in the new one. They were short-staffed because they had a lot of other plumbing jobs already in the works. They had to wait until Monday when they had enough manpower to come back, but they came out. They were very punctual and the people were very courteous. They texted me in advance of them coming to let me know when they would be here. Two guys came out and they were very good. They did everything that needed to be done. I was real pleased with American Home Shield and I was grateful. I'm just grateful I had it because in a situation when things break, it’s never convenient, but this was really pretty big to me because of the fact that I'm laid off from work until God only knows when they let us go back. It was a saving grace for me.

With AHS, the initial cost was good. I had something previously and thought it was time to put something on. Since we ended up having to use AHS, it was a good move. The contractor for the garbage disposal was quick and had the part on their truck. They swapped it out, showed me it worked and left me the paperwork for it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Please let us know if you need if you need assistance. Have an amazing week.

I’ve been really pleased with AHS. When I had an outside outlet that needed to be replaced, everything worked out fine.

American Home Shield responded promptly and they got it taken care of in times like this when there's lots of corona business. The only thing that we had a problem with was the heat pump outside. When the guy came, he spotted one thing and then he missed another thing. He spotted the compressor needed to be replaced. So the next guy came out to replace the compressor, and then that guy also realized that the fan wasn't turning on. So then they got a guy out to replace the fan, and then the guy came out there with the wrong motor so he had to go back again.
The first guy that American Home Shield sends out needs to be somebody who can diagnose and who knows how to capture everything. But it didn't bother me because everything still got done quickly, but the contractors could be more cost-effective and to make sure they send a senior guy out there to diagnose. It could have saved two or three different trips for the guys to come out for the air conditioning system if they just sent one guy out to say that they needed to replace the compressor and the motor. He could also have indicate that it's a Trane motor and point out the bolt pattern on the top. But overall, American Home Shield saves you money and they send out a guy pretty quickly.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

The dishwasher wasn’t working and would deposit a lot of stuff all over the dishes. The top rack would come out completely dirty and the bottom rack would be all clean. I contacted American Home Shield and usually, I'm told to expect the contractor in 24 hours. The contractor came and said that they would get in touch with AHS and let us know what was going on. They never came back and never contacted me. It then took almost three weeks before AHS had Precision Appliance come out and look at the dishwasher. The contractor was very professional. AHS has also done my washing machine and dryer and every time, they’ve been very professional and timely.

There was a time when the outside part of my air conditioning system sounded like it was rattling. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield on a Friday. It sucked to have to pay $100 upfront when I don't really know how much the service would have cost in the first place. Their tech from Airmax Heating & Cooling came out on a Monday and fixed the issue in 25 minutes. A capacitor was out. However, the receipt the tech gave me didn't even list any costs.
I've used AHS twice now and both of the guys who came were excellent. The tech for the air conditioner was nice. He aimed to do his job assuming he did the correct thing. Now, my AC doesn't rattle anymore. Even so, we have old things that need to be replaced. For instance, when I had a refrigerator guy come, there was nothing he could do because the issue was more related to our ice maker. It would be nice to think that my payments to American Home Shield are coming through in a big way for me.
We do apologize and we would be more than happy to look and take this into consideration. It is not our intent to make this an inconvenience for you and do not hesitate to contact us in regards to any service or contractual issues.

AHS had an offer for air conditioning routine maintenance for $75. They do a check on the system. My air conditioning is original with the house and the house is 33 years old, so I figured it might be time. It took a while to get it scheduled because there were certain criteria that they needed, such as the temperature had to be over 70 degrees outside. We had a delay there, but I’m not holding them accountable for that. They could have come out, do a quick check, and say they were done. But they were conscious enough to say that it wouldn't be accurate unless it was at least 70 degrees outside. Hats off to them.
The tech came out and gave my air conditioning a clean bill of health and told me to change the filters. I was very happy with it. Even with the coronavirus running around, the guy came very prepared. When he came into the house, he had a mask on. He was very cordial and professional. I also used AHS in the past last year when my washer went out. It was an older washer and the issue was the transmission. I thought that they were gonna scrap it, but they wound up fixing it. It was 100 bucks to me, but they took care of it. And my washer has been running fine.

I have a friend who had American Shield for many years. He lives in North Carolina and he kept telling me sometime ago that I needed to do it because it's really critical for me. In the past, when I did some repairs, it was very difficult for me. First of all, sometimes if something breaks, you never know who to call, so you start looking and asking the neighbors who to call or what company is good or what is not. It's much more troublesome, and here, it's quite straightforward.
My AC stopped cooling and I noticed that the unit with a motor and propeller outside was not even functioning at all. I placed an order online sometime on Friday, in the American Shield website, and within 24 hours, I got the mail and I got a call that the person will be coming. I like the way that it was relatively simple to place an order for the service and the contact between the insurance company and the company who was making that repair was fast.
The communication was good too. The person came on Monday and he handled everything quite well, especially because he and I were both a little stressed by the coronavirus situation. Most of his work was outside so we kept a really good social distance. Essentially, he stepped only one time inside to check the thermostat. Overall, everything was done well and I really liked it.

When the AC wasn’t blowing cold air, we submitted our claim on a Thursday and we were contacted on Tuesday. The subcontractor sent me a text letting me know when he was on his way and he came out quickly and diagnosed the problem. It was a fan that needed to be replaced and he replaced it. The AC was fixed and it’s all good. It was $100 for them to come out and I didn’t get any extra charge. I appreciate them not trying to upsell to something I didn’t need.
