My heat system was down. The guy who came out was professional and courteous. He had his mask on and he also put on booties to come in the house. It worked really well. He fixed the problem at that time. It’s been extremely positive with American Home Shield. Whenever we've needed them, they've come out and taken care of it. It's been very helpful.

Somebody inspected our gas fireplace and they said that there was an electrical issue. We had Action Electrical Contracting Company come in to look at things and they stated that it was not related to an electrical issue, it was related to the electrical connections in the fireplace that were directly related to the fireplace. They were very friendly and very thorough. They explained things in great detail as to what the issues were. We also had an issue with our stove and the person who came in was very efficient. He knew exactly what the problem was, fixed it quickly, and everything was back in working order. It's been a very good experience with AHS. It's nice to know that things can be fixed and that there's a set expense for all that.

I had a leaky hot water tank from the connections. I submitted a claim on Friday afternoon and American Home Shield didn't get back to me until today. We were notified that there was gonna be an appointment, and then the plumbing company came out promptly thereafter. Obviously, they said business days and I thought that a business day for a plumber was also Saturday, but it turned out that it wasn't. But they had the parts they needed as the repair was done promptly.

We've used American Home Shield several other times before. The first time had to do with a refrigerator that required multiple visits. Finally, they decided that it couldn't be fixed and as a result, they gave me a small payment for the purchase of a new one. I was dissatisfied with that. The second time had to do with a faulty dryer and it was great.

American Home Shield sent someone for my microwave and it went smoothly, but they weren't able to get it repaired. They couldn't get it out of where it currently is. They said, "We don't want to damage your wall, so we can't really access where we need to access. But if you can get it down, then we can come back and fix it." I'm not going to be moving the microwave anytime soon though.

The furnace wasn't heating. When we first called with our heat, the home wouldn't heat up unless we turned it up real high. My problem was that we had to turn the heat up to 74 before it really got hot. Because he said the reason when you turn it up to 74, it's going into emergency heat mode, which is hotter. And then my outside unit was freezing up. You could see ice around.

When the company came out, they said part of it that it was going on emergency mode because of our air unit outside, which is a heat pump. It was low on Freon. And that my warranty didn't cover the Freon. I paid them $200 or $300 for it. They said that I had to pay them for that because the Freon was 100 some dollars a pound, and my warranty only covers $10 of that. And then they left.

Once they did what they did, I went outside two days later, it was the same thing. I saw ice around the unit again. I called back and said, "Hey, it's the same as it was before." Even though he did what he said, the system is still doing the same thing it always did. They came back. The tech said that it was working fine. It was within specs. And he did another adjustment on the compressor. They told me it wasn't covered, and they charged me the rest. I paid them the money on my credit card.

It seems like the objective of whoever comes out is to deflect to make sure whatever the problem is, is not their problem. It's the consumer problem. It's something I need to pay for. I just thought it was odd. I believed what the tech said the Freon was low. Because he said when he tested out the unit that it was a Schrader valve that was leaking. And the leak is so slow that it could just leak a bit over time. He repaired that. And he put the Freon in.

I know American Homes Shield covers the air conditioner and some other stuff we got in the house. The thing about a second opinion, because my understanding of whoever comes out, you pay them $105. That kind of nips that in the bud right there. You're not trying to pay $105 just to have different people to come out. Unless you're saying, you don't have to pay that to get a second opinion. Them coming out already, it was almost $400 for me anyway. I wasn't trying to make it $500. I'm waiting to see if I would have to pay this guy some more money at the end of this week. I'm waiting to see when the temperature goes up, what I got to do next because I think I would have to end up calling them again.

Master Tech came out for two claims. Their tech did our icemaker and then he put something on the oven. Then he looked at our cooktop and it was determined that it had to be replaced. The oven is still cut off. So we went through American Home Shield who called the tech and had him come over. There was some kind of loose connection and the tech fixed it. The oven’s working fine now. The tech did a great job even though he needed to come back.

In my first experience with American Home Shield when I called in, there were some things that weren't taken care of correctly. I had to call back and have some of those work orders redone but there was a long wait time. I had no direct call. I did that a couple of times and that was disheartening. But it has gotten a lot better. Once the techs were allowed to come out here and we had all of the work orders done correctly, everything was perfect.

The clothes dryer failed to work. Putting in a claim to American Home Shield was good. It took about four days for someone to come to our home. He had diagnosed the problem and found that there was a particular part that was not working. He ordered the part, and it took probably about a little over a week to get. Some of that is due to the situation with COVID because the manufacturers are kind of backed up, but as far as he and his helper, they were really nice and very knowledgeable. So, it was a good experience.

Our washing machine would not stop drawing water on a Friday night. It ran for close to an hour. I could not get it to stop so I unplugged it. I called American Home Shield and asked if they could expedite an order. I tried to explain the situation to them and they said they couldn't. So I turned the faucet handles and thought I had it off but the tech finally showed up. He took his channellocks and turned them a little tighter. He disconnected the hoses and got my washing machine to stop. He did a wonderful job and got here as fast as he could. I was grateful.

AHS is pretty good. They cover just about everything. We moved into our house in 2016 and it had Home Shield silver coverage as part of the contract for buying it. We upgraded the coverage because they didn't have as wide a selection. We went into a Gold kind of thing which I'm glad we have. Now we have more coverage.

I've been having problems with my microwave since COVID started up. I called AHS and told them that I needed to have that. I paid them $100 and the guy from Authorized Services came as soon as they told them. He checked it as it was making a loud sound then he said it was completely damaged and he would tell American Home Shield that it had to be replaced.

I called American Home Shield and asked what was going on. Authorized told them that the case was closed. I told them that it couldn't be because my microwave still didn't work. Then they said that it wasn't, and they gave me an option to get me a GE, but I got a Whirlpool. I was leery about that because they'd replace whatever I got my insurance out for. I told them to just send a check so I could buy on my own, and I never heard from them since then. Nevertheless, American Home Shield is doing what they need to do.

I had two claims. One was for some plumbing and the other one was for heating and air conditioning. AHS made me have two separate $100 payments and it turned out that the company of the first person was doing plumbing, heating and air conditioning. They could have handled all of my problems with only one $100 fee.

I was entirely happy with the plumber. He fixed toilet and I've been thrilled. He took care of my son's shower which was the other problem. But I was not happy with the heating company. I tried to get back as soon as I hung up because I realized I didn't put two furnaces that were problematic on the detail list. I only put one. Every time I tried to get through initially, AHS began with asking for a $100 credit payment. I couldn't spend more time because I had to get back to work.

The day before the scheduled visit, I did get back to them at 2:30. I had a supervisor approve the addition of the second furnace to the original number. The man came the next day and claimed that he had no knowledge of the second furnace. He then called his own dispatcher who had no knowledge of it but the dispatcher called his supervisor who said, "Yes, I do have an authorization for the second furnace." But nobody fixed it. They looked at it and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. This would not cover setting up the humidifier on the furnace or anything else. But we're not doing it 'cause we didn't have the order number with the work on it," which they had. It should have been covered because the air conditioning is one of the things that AHS covers and the humidifier just needed to be turned on and connected and I didn't know how to do it. I don't know if anybody's ever gonna come by and fix the furnaces I paid 100 bucks to be fixed.

Recently, the thermostat wouldn't come on when we turn it on. I put a ticket in that morning and the company came the same day so I was satisfied. It came on after the guy left. The first time DNG came out, our dryer made a squeaky and rattling noise. The gentleman said it was the pulleys so he replaced them. But then, it still made that noise and it got louder and louder. We called again and they came out and looked at it, and they said it was the motor. The heating element was going out into the dryer. They said that they would take care of the issue. Then he called us and said that we had to call American Home Shield back because we started a new ticket claim on it.

We then started a new claim. AHS would send another repair place out to fix the issue. After we had requested DNG, and when we requested them, the gentleman told my wife that DNG would come to get it. Then we got the confirmation on our phone that there was another appliance place to fix it. So, we called back and told them, “No, we requested DNG because they already knew the problem. Because you’re gonna send somebody out and then that person say, ‘Oh, it's the motor. And then we got to order the motor and it’s gonna take that much longer.’”

At that point, I was told by a gentleman from AHS that DNG already had their allotted claim and they were booked. I said, “I just got off the phone with them because they had told us. We called them, said, ‘Okay, we did the claim.’” Then the guy said, “No, you have to go with this one.” I was pissed off because we were told that DNG would take care of the issue and then they didn't.

My wife then got on the phone and called. When she was talking to the lady, the lady said, “Okay, we can have them but we have to cancel the previous ticket of the other place coming, and then we can reissue it to DNG”. Then she said, “That's gonna be another $75.” My wife said, “What? They didn't even come out. I must speak to your manager.” Because the one gentleman that we spoke to, the first one that said that DNG was coming, waived that $75 fee for it because my wife said, “I've been sick. This happened. We didn't know.” After my wife talked to somebody and got the runaround there, they ended up waiving the $75 and DNG came out, fixed the dryer and did a phenomenal job. We were at the point of leaving American Home Shield.

I highly recommended DNG. They were phenomenal. He said, “We’d be at this time,” they were at this time. My wife said, “Do you have shoe covers?” They had shoe covers. Very friendly and professional. We were pleased with the work that DNG did but we were dissatisfied with the runaround that we got from AHS. The problem is they have so many people that are trying to do the same job that one says one thing, one says another. They are not all on the same page. But we renewed our contract with them because we were like, “You know what? We understand people have bad days. So we thought we’d give you guys another chance but if it happens again, we will not renew. We will pay more money and do another company.”

When I had a clogged drain, I called American Home Shield on the phone and it went better than usual. The contractor was nice. Everything has been performing great. American Home Shield is better than anybody else. One time, I left them but I came right back. I got ahold of somebody after-hours. It must have been somebody that works from home. It was unusual. When I finally got it straightened out, it was somebody that didn’t know the procedures. They told me what I had to do was to go out to the store and buy the part myself, and then come back. And then, they would have somebody come and put it on. I knew better than that. But then the people got irated, so I just left. I reacted too soon because who I went to wasn’t great at all. It wasn't even a month, I was then right back with American Home Shield.

AHS offered a special for a heating check-up. I filed that online really quickly and it was fast and easy. The techs from Moor Air LLC did a check-up to make sure everything was good. It was very fast. My husband said they went up into the attic and were in and out in less than 20 minutes. My fridge went out on Christmas Eve and I called it in as soon as it was mid-morning. AHS gave me an appointment and the technician arrived in a timely manner. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He had the part needed in his truck and he was able to fix what was wrong. I gave my fridge a couple of hours to get cold again and now it totally works. I've had good experiences with American Home Shield. They provide excellent customer service and quality work.

The coolant in the freezer and the refrigerator part was not working. It was not freezing and not being cold at all. We lost a ton of food. Three days after making our claim with American Home Shield, a tech came out and fixed the problem temporarily. He reset whatever he reset to make the temperature of the freezer and the refrigerator stay at zero and 37 degrees. But two days later, the refrigerator reverted to its old self and it's no longer working. I called again and AHS referred the claim to the Sears repair people and they are supposed to call today to see if they can fix the problem. If not, we are gonna need a new refrigerator because Christmas is right around the corner and we are screwed. We are satisfied with our warranty. It just that the first service made was incomplete. The tech addressed the problem but didn't fix it. Also, whoever AHS contracts out with to do the repairs should be more timely.

The claim submission process has been pretty simple for me because I've been with American Home Shield for a while so I’d gotten the hang of it. I keep having the same problem every time, even throughout the summertime. They're trying everything they can to not replace the whole unit. They're just piecing it together and it's really not going to help. It's gotten to the point where Family Heating & Cooling know me and they're quite familiar with my home.

My heating vents were kicking out cold air. It wasn't blowing out hot air on a section or my home. I have two sections that are run by two different thermostats. Family Heating & Cooling came in and looked everything over. They went outside and found out that where the coolant goes was cracked. They replaced and fixed that. Then, he couldn't get the fluid at the time, so he let me know that he called around and the closest one was out. He had to go back to Newcastle and get it. He brought it the next day and filled it up. Everything seemed to be working okay. But then, we noticed that it still wasn't getting as warm as we needed it to get. They sent someone out again and they closed off some vents and tried to push the air and forced it down to that area to make it a little warmer. It's been going pretty good so far.

American Home Shield raised my rates out of nowhere and they didn't contact me and let me know. I didn't notice it until I happened to see my report on my bank statement. Then, I realized they were charging more so I called them and they said that everything had to go up because of COVID. That was a little unprofessional to charge someone without telling them that. Better communication and more replacements instead of continuing to try to fix the same problem are the two biggest for me because I constantly have to pay the $100 first before someone comes out and for the same issue all throughout the year and it’s getting a little pricey.

Our furnace would click off by itself and not come back on and the repairmen fixed it, we thought, temporarily. It lasted a couple of days then it went out one evening, and it wouldn't turn back on. The repairmen had to come out. The issue was something with the burner and a couple of other parts they had to replace. They weren't sure that they could get them because it’s older than what I said it was. Other than that, American Home Shield did a wonderful job. We're very satisfied. Whoever they call and tell to come out, they call me and they're always out here straight. They're very good. I can't say enough good things about American Home Shield. They've been so good to anything we've had done.

My daughter bought a new house and they put an insurance. Their realtor talked to them and they went with a company that sounded Italian. It was terrible. They had a water leak in the house, and it was a mess they had. They had it fixed, and as soon as they could, they got out of their agreement with the insurance. I told them to get American Home Shield, but they listened to their friends and not to their dad. As parents, we’re supposed to not know enough because we're too old. They ended up going with another company that's like American Home Shield and this company messed them up. Their refrigerator is one of these fancy ones. It's about $3,000 and that company gave them $400 to buy a new refrigerator.

On the other hand, we had an old refrigerator go bad that we had down in our basement and it was replaced. I didn't even think my refrigerator was in the insurance. I happened to call, and someone said, “Why didn't you use your insurance?” I called American Home Shield and I could not believe that it was covered. I said, “Now that's not my regular refrigerator that we use. It’s the spare one that we have in our basement.” The rep said, “Well, is it a finished area that it’s in, in the basement?” I said yes. It's all finished down there. American Home Shield gave us a better refrigerator than what we had and I could not believe it. No hassles, no nothing. They also fixed the washer and ended up giving us a new one. They did a nice job for us.

Our water bill noted that the water was high and that was a problem. We bought the house two years ago. We noticed in our living room that part of our wooden floors was buckling. The wood is water-stained and bleached at the top. It seemed to be spreading. We had the city come out and they said it was not the city's issue. We called American Home Shield to have a plumber come out and look at the plumbing inside the house. The guy who came was prompt and the correspondence was good. The guy came out on Saturday and we completed this on Friday. It was all good.

We turned off all the water and there was no water movement on the line. The guy said it was not a plumbing issue. But I discussed it with him and said that maybe it was the sewer line underneath. He said he would have to report it to the office and that the office would contact American Home Shield. I called the plumber twice during the last week then again this morning to try to get some feedback. They said that American Home Shield’s portal was down. The plumber wouldn't give me an answer as to what the report was because he said American Home Shield had to do that.

The follow-through has not been good and it was not what I would expect. Thank God this problem is not the kind of thing where my sewer seemed to be backing up. I would not have been as calm as I am now. It just seems to be the same problem we've been having that's creeping up on us and it's problematic. I discussed it with the plumber that was here that maybe a scope with a camera could be run to see if there is a break. Somewhere, there's a problem and it hasn't fully manifested. I would think that with the issues that we're having, AHS would agree to pay a plumber to come back and scope it.

There should be better communication with me as the client rather than me having to chase everybody down. A follow-through from American Home Shield would have been very helpful. My husband is very much disappointed and is absolutely negative about the experience. But I was happy that the plumber came out. He seemed knowledgeable about what would be considered the water problem in the house but not necessarily the sewage problem that we think might be the real problem. He didn't want to go any further. I also fault him for not calling me back and saying I had to call twice or three times.

I got on the phone and it took probably five to seven minutes on hold, which was okay. It’s that time of year. The guy I got tried calling the plumber but he was as unsuccessful as I was. On some days, the rep was good and responsive telling me "I'll get back to you,” but never did. I would have hoped for more. Christmas is Thursday. I hope that the sewage hasn't backed up before that. I hope American Home Shield makes a more transparent process where you get to see the plumber's report at the same time that they send it out to American Home Shield. I’m hopeful that they will call me back and work with me on this problem.

I have had American Home Shield for a couple years and paying my monthly due on time. AHS is great for small issues like a running toilet. But, when it comes to fixing appliances and upholding to their contract, they are terrible. I put in a request in October 2020 to have our microwave fixed, I paid a $125 deductible, the technician came out and told us he had to order parts, and he would be back in 2 weeks. It has been 3 months and the microwave is not fixed. GE called me and said the parts are on back order till February.

I have called AHS 6 times now demanding they just replace the microwave. This is exactly what happens on each call: placed on hold for 20 minutes while they call GE, they come back to me and tell me they have been on hold too long and they left a voice message, I demand to speak to a supervisor, then I am told they have to email the supervisor and I will get a call in 24 hours, I never hear back from AHS, and I have still not had my microwave fixed. The contract states they will replace my microwave up to $3000. I was told today that GE would have to tell AHS to offer me more options. Why is GE in charge at this point? I cannot get anyone higher than a phone representative to speak with me.

My microwave stopped working. We waited for close to a week and a half because we were waiting for an air conditioning person to come to fix our microwave. We knew right off the bat it wasn’t connected to our air conditioning. We spoke to a rep three times. She fought with us and said, “I'm sorry, I can't give you anybody else. This is who I have to give you.” My husband said, “I'm not calling in my air conditioner. I'm calling in my microwave.” Either the rules or regs to set somebody up is ridiculous. My husband threatened to quit with the program and find a different one. He wasn't going to wait any longer for an air conditioning man from Tempe. That’s 25 miles away from us.

The guy came and fixed it. He was quick as a bunny when we finally got him but we’re not used to waiting a week and a half for something that should have been taken care of immediately. But AHS has saved us some money so there is that positive side to it. The caveat being you have to put your foot down. It took me four times with the garage door to get fixed.

We just bought this house in October and our realtor added American Home Shield to our thing. The claim process is a joke ‘cause you call them up and they’ll set you up for $75 every time, no matter what. I told the person that after they replaced the septic system, there was a leak in my front yard. They said they would send out a plumber without even looking at my stuff. The guy that they called actually called me and asked me what was going on, and I told him. He said that he does a lot of work for them and that they won't do anything that’s out of the slab. I told him that AHS would just let that go through and take that $75, as well as the one that they just got through, and take it. I called AHS back to cancel that.

This time, the plumber from Oasis Plumbing came out and looked at it a little bit. He said that there was some plumbing inside the wall that he said he needed to repair and all this other stuff, but it wasn't true. All that needed to be done was the pipes snaked out, and new caps put on the pipes. He said he didn't do that. But it says in their contract that they do. He said that he needed to open up the wall and that wasn't really necessary. He charged us $75 and said he’d get back in touch with me. He left and I never heard anything from him.

I got ahold of the American Home Shield people, and they actually told my wife that it would be $800 in carpentry work to expose the pipes. There's also a cleanout in the washroom as well as the outside of the wall, on the outside of the washroom. We ended up repairing it out of my pocket. We just had to go through the one on the outside of the wall, and we've cleaned it out, and everything runs fine.

The people I talk to at American Home Shield are very nice. They try to schedule things for me but it takes a while. I have to wait a week before anybody can get out. It has also been a real toss-up as we've had some good and bad contractors. We asked the techs whether they worked on commission or by the hour. They said they worked on commission. I said that this is why some of them are in such a hurry to get out of my house to get to the next one. I try to ask them questions and they'll be like "Ah, come on." I could tell they didn't want to spend any time with me and it has been hurtful. There have been a couple of situations where they could have helped me out more and the techs just said they don't have time and they have to leave. There was a person who we asked not to come back because he got kind of rude.

When one of the guys came recently, it seemed like he wanted to get out really fast. I told him, “I know, you think I'm a pain in the butt. Because I just want to ask you if I can call my husband and you could tell him exactly what you told me. Just repeat it. Because he's a technician, he's going to understand it a lot better, or I need to write it down.” The guy was upset about that. I understand they're on commission, but I don't want it to affect how they do their job. American Home Shield is generally good. It's just that sometimes the quality of the contractor can be a problem.

The old guy was really honest and did quality repair work.

Out of 15 years that we've been with them, we've had one company show up that was questionable although I wasn't dissatisfied with what the guy did. We had a refrigerator that we purchased three years before it was out of warranty and there was something wrong with the ice maker. A young kid came in and looked at it. My lower unit was taking up 10 minutes longer to reach temperature. The techs came and found that the lower unit needed Freon. I had just put Freon two months before but the techs tested the unit, checked all the electricals and filters, and made sure everything was good. They also measured how much Freon we were gonna put in. They also told me what to look out for and the steps to take in case the problem happens again. They were really professional and I would recommend them. Things have been okay since then but I can tell the HVAC started to not work as efficiently as when they put in the Freon.

American Home Shield seems to work around so we don't have to get a new appliance. We had trouble with the garbage disposal, and instead of just saying, “Get a new garbage disposal,” they help us keep going with it. I don’t feel like they're trying to sell us some stuff. However, I couldn't recommend American Home Shield to all of my friends because they're expensive, and I don't always get the money back. But I find it very convenient because they get the specialist to come in and do the work, and I don't have to know all that. It's just the one call.

The heat went out and you could hear the blower kick on. But it was just blowing cold air. The first time the tech came out, he said it was the igniter so he replaced it. This was back on March and at the time, the weather was making that transition into getting warm. I still wanted to get it fixed, so that when winter comes, we would be all good. So, he fixed it. It was kicking and we used it for two days and then, cut it off. Then, we started using the AC afterwards. This year, when the winter started, I had the same issue. So, it worked for two days and we finally cut it off at three days, and it kicked off again. So, I called the contractor back. Another guy came out and said that the igniter was fine. It was our flame sensor. It was dirty so, he cleaned it off and then, it kicked on. He said that everything was good to go. He tested it and it was kicking hot air. That lasted for a day. Afterwards, it went out and started blowing cold air again.

I tried to get up there myself and see if anything went wrong because the guy said that I might have to use a cleaning. They could come out and do some cleaning on the system and that should help. I had to call him again and when he came out, he said that he checked the igniter and replaced it. He checked the flame sensor and cleaned it. He dug deeper and said that it was the circuit board. It was the whole reason why the other two were going up. So, I spent $300, getting the technician to come out to assess something. I appreciate when he came out. He was very knowledgeable about explaining the circuit board and how it affects the flame sensor and the igniter. But it took three times for the techs to come out here to identify that the circuit board was going up and that was the main issue. Nevertheless, he was professional and courteous.

Everyone that I've dealt with at American Home Shield has been great. I was explaining my frustration to the rep about paying the fee. She said that I was gonna have to pay the fee because that was not for the service. It was for the technician to come out. I understood that but I couldn't keep kicking out $100 for the technician to come out to keep trying to diagnose something. They need to fix it. If they come out several times, I would have to pay several hundred dollars and I couldn't keep doing that. I said that was enough. We were going back and forth so, I said I would just deal with it and to let the tech come out. I would spend the extra $100. And then I told her to let me try calling United Air Temp.

The girl at United Air Temp was extremely nice, courteous and she understood. She didn't want me to keep having to pay the service fee of $ 100. She said that a technician could come out to my home because I was still in that warranty window and it shouldn't be a problem. She told me to call my insurance company back and tell them that I was within that window. The tech would come back out and there would be no fee if they were going to diagnose it. So, when I called back, I dealt with someone different and the girl was nice. I have AHS for both my properties and they provide an exceptional service. I'm not gonna let that one time with the girl change my views on the service overall.

My clothes washer was collecting water at the bottom and wouldn't drain properly in the last cycle. It spins more. So, I have to hit a button and put it on a low spin. The guy who came was remarkable. He figured out what the issue was which was an electrical connection preventing the dryer from going for a full cycle. All of a sudden, the washer started working. I called AHS to make sure that the contractor was canceled. They took care of things right away and called the contractor. It wasn't until a few days later that the washer started acting up again, so I had to reschedule an appointment. The reps whom I spoke with sounded like they cared. They were right on top of my claim.

With American Home Shield, I love that I can submit claims online. I know that even when I'm out of town, as long as I leave my username and password with whoever is taking care of my house, somebody else can file the claim. I also like the security knowing that if something goes wrong in the house, I can call somebody and I'm not going to get a $600 bill. I can pay monthly, and it's $100 deductible, and somebody comes out and fixes my issue.

We had some days that were really hot, and then it got cold, so we were flipping, going from AC to heat in a week. It happened to coincide right around the time the guy came out. In the phone call, they said they would check everything when we called. We asked the the guy to check and he checked everything. He said that there was something wrong with a valve that switches from the heating and the AC. That needed to be replaced, so they're waiting for a part for the unit to come in. He said he would contact me as soon as it arrives because there was a shortage of them. He also said that part was almost as expensive as the unit itself. He seemed very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. All in all, everybody's been quick to respond. We're happy with the way everything was finalized. It went very well.

That same day, the tech from Royal Flush came out and looked at the other one. He was able to determine that it was the thermostat that was malfunctioning and not the unit itself. He was able to fix it. It started right up and everything was good. He was super friendly and helpful. Over the years with American Home Shield, they have to call someone to come and then they schedule within a day or two. In this instance, it was the next day and everything worked really well. Also, when some big problem is going on, they mostly make excuses. The last time I had to do something with the dryer, I said, "This is covered." They said only the vent cleaning was covered. It was the same thing with the air condition. I paid $4,500 from my pocket to have it fixed. They didn't cover much and with that one, I was upset. I didn't get any advantage out of the coverage. I'm paying so much money, but what is the benefit to what I'm doing? It helps a little bit, but not much. Still, everything was good.

This was a new company and I wasn't familiar with them at all. Two young men came and they messed up my bathroom. They messed up the carpet. They said that they were trying to unstop the sink and then a valve broke and water just went everywhere. I gave them several towels to try to get the water off the floor. They brought in some kind of fan. It took at least a week for the carpet at the entrance of the door to the bathroom to dry. All this happened at the same time with BJ. But BJ's was very professional and their tech did his job.

Of all the home warranties, American Home Shield is the best. However, they do not use the best of the contractors around. I don't know if it's because they're less money or what. The particular experience with Brent's Pool is that they were very reliable and responsible. However, the guy's diagnosis was completely off based on what our pool service company is saying, and they're familiar with the equipment that we have. That's why we have a callback that is going to be happening next week.

98% of the time, the contractors are always very nice, very polite and very trustworthy. But skill-wise, no. I was a project manager in construction and had my own company therefore I tend to be maybe more particular than others. Also, American Home Shield should understand the geography better of where they're sending the people and where they're getting their contractors. They tend to not send particularly very local contractors. That has been my experience in California. They're sending them as far as 70 miles away. Previously when we lived in Colorado, they were sending more local contractors.

We did our research and looked online, and there was a lot of positive reviews with American Home Shield.

There was something wrong with the washer's board. The tech had to order a new board for inside because it wasn't coming on, and then he came to put that part in. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield used to be horrible but it’s getting better. The only drawback with them are those AC companies that they hire. Instead of hiring local people, they hire these massive companies that they operate in different states. They don't even have a local office and they're normally horrible. Last time, I had a problem with my heating and Total Air Care was completely horrible. I dealt with them a few times. Every time you deal with a local company from the town, you have the better outcome than dealing with those big companies.

Also, I’m a Spanish speaker but I’m one of the persons who refuse to press one for Spanish and two for English. When you call American Home Shield and wait to talk to a representative in the English speaking line, you can be on hold for 40 minutes. But if you press one for Spanish, it’s normally right away. You get a service, which is wrong in a way. You're in America and when you call to talk to somebody, it should be quicker to speak to somebody in English than somebody in Spanish. I'm finding that with most of the companies, not just with American Home Shield.

It would be nice if these guys were more local. I like to support local people. I'm sure the Ace Garage Door guy will come out and play with it and make it right. Overall, American Home Shield has taken care of everything I wanted.

We've owned our house since early 2015 and AHS was part of our purchase. We've been re-upping it ever since. We've used it for a variety of appliances and issues we've had and we've been really happy with it. We always get people who are professional, who do a good job, and who know their stuff. If they can't fix it, then they legitimately write us up for a new product so I had a few appliances installed like a new dishwasher and a new washing machine. We picked up the difference but I definitely think that it’s been worth it.

I used to have to call. But recently, I've just been doing it online. I get a response within a day and I never had to call a repair person. They always call me the next day. It's usually like, “Hey, we can be out there tomorrow.” It’s not like I'm waiting months to get anything fixed. Most recently, we dealt with a guy named Rodney and he was fantastic. We couldn’t be any happier. He fixed our problem. In the midst of it, I found out that he had to do a few things. I told him to take some time off but he came over and fixed our dishwasher, and it only cost us $75 service fee. It’s been a good experience with AHS. I would recommend it to any of my friends or family having a home warranty. It's such a neat thing to have.

The heater was not turning on. The technician from United Air Temp Heating and Conditioning came out in a full mask, which I appreciated. He looked at it and he diagnosed the problem right away. He had the part on his truck and he fixed it. That was awesome. I had heard bad things about that company so I was pleasantly surprised. The technician was really good.

I wanted to use some of the people that we have used before and American Home Shield wouldn’t let us. If I ever have to have the unit replaced, I want to have it replaced with a reputable company. Then I don't like speaking to people in different countries. It’s hard to understand people when they're not in the same country and it's hard to understand accents. That ticks me off and I don't like it. There's a language and culture barrier when reaching out to their customer service.

They should stop putting their call centers in different countries. They should also allow customers to choose companies instead of them choosing those. There are people in this world who would take advantage and try to pad somebody. That's a problem and that is why they have to go by so many different ones that they have chosen to fix the problem. It would be great to be able to use local people instead of people that are national.

The part of the furnace that's inside the house started making noise when I turned it on for the heat. So Myers Comfort Specialists came out and they checked it. It needed a new roller part inside there. So, the tech replaced that for me. When I purchased the house last year, the owners paid American Home Shield for the year. Then I paid for it to renew. It's on myself now. So whenever I make a call in, they take the 125 payment first upfront. Then the company that is going to do the service call will call me and set up an appointment time for them to meet me at home.

American Home Shield doesn't have anything where they can try to do something more for emergencies. So if it had been an elderly person in the home with it having been this hot this summer, they'd have to stay shut up in the house two or three days in the heat until someone could actually come out and see about it for them. That was what I really didn't like. During the summer, my air conditioner went out because it needed a new motor on the outside unit part. Luckily, my kids weren't there but I did have two little house dogs that live in the house.

Three toilets were getting stuck. The tech just put three new components in the tank. And then I had a stop at the kitchen sink, which he cleaned out adequately. I didn't get him to look at this leaky thing that was listed. That was both of our faults. Because he had it on his thing, and he didn't check it off, and neither did I. Other than that, everything went well. However, I live in the northern counties of Los Angeles County, which is the most populous county in the United States. And I live on the county to the north of it, which has a lot of people in itself. But American Home Shield chooses companies in the far side of LA, literally an hour and a half drive from my residence, to come and service me. They're not in my area, not even remotely in my area. And I don't like that at all. Sometimes they said, “Well, we have satellite people—” No.

I can't believe that there isn't a more local source. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. I know American Home Shield does it because they want to get a cheap deal. It was not the same service I would get if I called up a local electrician. Because of the nature of the insurance, American Home Shield has to get people who will do the job for the least amount of money possible. It just doesn't make sense to me. It has been infuriating since I got them. Every time some of the contractors say, “Okay, this is the last time we’ll cancel.” Most of the time I've had good people. Other times, I did not feel comfortable with who the providers were.

This time, in both cases with the electric and the plumbing, the people who came to the house were very nice. But they make mistakes. It doesn't look like the people who answer the phone can make the appointments with the people that are going out in the field or doing stuff like that. But that's not the end of the world. It's just mostly that I have always been disturbed that a company as large as American Home Shield can't find a provider within 65 miles. We have 36 million people. I'm not helping out my local community.

But overall, he looked at the thermostat and at the thermocouples, and he made sure everything was working well. He assessed that if I wanted to have more airflow in my house, I needed to upgrade the furnace. So he did a good job.

I just moved into this house about four months ago. The tub is original and it's over 20 something years old. The drain thing was starting to crack and peel away, and I was concerned about leakage. I called American Home Shield because I wanted to confirm that it was covered. Once we confirmed it was under my coverage, everything went from there. The process was easy. One call and they put it in motion. I was told I would be contacted within was 24 hours if not the same day. The repair guy then came out to see if there was any problems with the connection or if there was any leaking going on and he didn't find anything.

The tub is really old. It's pushed down in the front like somebody put a weight on it. That was putting stress on the drain. If I stand in the tub or take a shower, I'm going to put more stress on it. It's going to put the tub down, lift the drain up, and then it's going to start leaking. My big concern was that that was going to start happening, but he looked at it and said it looks like it's all connected good.

I keep looking at my ceiling downstairs to see if there's any water damage and I was wondering, would I be seeing it or not? He said, “Oh, yeah, you'd be seeing it long time ago.” He even went out to his car and got a drain with a pipe attached to show me how it connects underneath. He showed me that if there was a leak, how much water would be going through. It wouldn't be just a little drip. He walked me through everything and he explained it in detail. I felt great after he left. I was glad that he talked to me. I had peace of mind. I know that I don't have to worry, even though it looks like it's a problem. For right now at least, it's not.

It was very hard to get service in the area that we moved from. The service providers in that area actually stopped working with American Home Shield. When COVID hit, it became even more complicated because they would say we could source our own because they couldn't find a service provider in our area. I'd have to call them before the service provider did anything and we have to get their approval. But these providers were saying, "No, we're not going to sit on the phone," because it was taking us an hour to an hour and a half to get through to somebody. Their time was valuable and they weren't gonna stand there and wait until we got through to American Home Shield to get an approval for them. So we went through a little bit of a hassle.

We paid for a service provider that came out to work on the air condition during the summer when it was hot and American Home Shield had lots of customers that were calling them. I had to go through their corporate office, and then I wrote a letter to them because it was horrible. But the provider that came out for the dishwasher was phenomenal. He was really good. He was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.

If I request service online, it's a piece of cake. But if I have to call, it's very difficult to understand and communicate. Most of the people don't have the same information and I usually get passed off several times. I had that issue last week. We tried to schedule the pre-season check for the heating and air conditioning because we have a brand new house and we don't know how everything works in it, and we didn't know what we really had or didn't have. So I marked heat pump and ductwork, and turns out that we had four units in the house and they aren't heat pumps.

The service provider that came out put an explanation where it's not a heat pump and he would only look at one and he walked out of the house. So we wasted our $100 with them. They said, "Hey, call us up for a diagnostic and it's $99." But what would have been the difference in the $99 that I would pay to them versus the $100 that I paid to American Home Shield and the way that they handled it? I was very upfront with both American Home Shield and the service provider. If needed, I would have been happy to pay more for more units. But the guy just left, so we won't go with that HVAC company and I'll let American Home Shield know that so that they don't use them again as well.

When I worked with American Home Shield's corporate office, they were more than helpful to try to get my other resolution on the other situation I had. It was kind of a shame that I had to go through that process to do that because they have been very responsive. But part of it was that area too and that they struggle in smaller areas to get reputable providers or providers that are available on that site.

The feedback that I've gotten from service providers is that they try to lowball them. So there's a little bit of heckling from their side and negotiating with American Home Shield. They don't want to get paid the lower rates if they know they can work for somebody that is going to pay a different rate, so maybe meet in the middle, and they helped with that. We moved near Philly so I don't think we'll have the same challenges, except for this HVAC guy that was not very polite. But I would recommend American Home Shield to anybody. They've served us well over the years and we've had multiple houses and contracts with them.

I usually submit claims to American Home Shield online. I've also called. I've done both, and it's been easy. Recently, Excalibur came out. They had to fix something. The thermostat wasn't working, so they had to clean it. Unfortunately, it stopped working a few days later, and I'm waiting for them to come back. My experience, so far, has been very good. The only issue I've ever had is sometimes the maintenance people take a while to get to you. You have to get on their schedule.

I've been a customer of AHS for 12 years and I've had very few claims. It would be nice to have a rewards program if a customer has been paying into the program for all these years and hasn't had any claims. But the few times I've filed claims were handled satisfactorily. A recent one was when the oven was not working. It was set, but it wouldn't stay on. I filed the claim and GM Appliance Service came within the day. They did an evaluation and then ordered the parts. The oven was repaired within six days and is now working fine.

Every time we've had a claim with AHS, it's been wonderful. We've been with them for two years now and this is our second claim. We had a clog in the drain and the guy came on time. He was very professional. He fixed it and left. The first one was for our oven. It was a completely different company but we're very pleased.

All Appliance was terrific. That was the second time I used my policy and they came in and fixed the issue. The only thing that I disliked is that this was over a week. I had no choice. I had a healing problem last year and it seemed to me the man came out much sooner. The long wait didn't happen the first time, but I have a friend that had been in the same thing. I had to call American Home Shield back and I had to get a second company. It took even longer ‘cause right away they canceled the original person that they set up for me. It was very frustrating and I couldn't get anyone to talk to them. I asked for a manager to call me back and I never got a call back.

When I have to renew, I'm going to look into other routes because I didn't like the long wait and I can’t talk to anyone. When I started with them, I don't believe that they were using out-of-country customer service. I don’t know if they got too big the way the system is. They send you to the Philippines and I don't like that as well. I don't deal well with these people. It's not against them though. It's an understanding problem. I try to explain what's going on, and it's like talking to a chair. It's hard to keep on saying, “What did you say? What did you say?” I'd like someone from the United States.

I have an account with American Home Shield. When our furnace would come on and then it wouldn't, I called them and it wasn't difficult at all. The repairman then came, went downstairs, moved the box and tightened something up. The heat has been doing well since. We change our filters every three months and we keep up with the date when we change them. I recommend American Home Shield to friends. It's a good company, which is why I keep dealing with them. When they send people out, they normally come out within a day. We work along with the different companies and we try to make sure to keep up with the different things that they do.

Recently, I had Super Plumbers at my house and they did what they were supposed to do. I've had American Home Shield on and off for some years and my family uses it too. We have a problem because one of the vendors they sent dented our air conditioning unit's condenser. So, we were without an air conditioner for a week. AHS wouldn't replace it because that was considered normal wear and tear. Vendors coming and tearing a few things should be worked out for. They should be insured and we shouldn't have to come out of pocket for something we didn't tear up.

Good thing I had a friend who owns an air conditioning company and they helped us out. But I shouldn't have to go to that extent just to get an air conditioner. We complained about it for three years straight. All of a sudden, when we need a new air conditioner, the vendor that recommended we need a new one was the same person that broke it. He didn't say anything so he pretty much tried to screw us out of $6,000 when he broke it. He wasn't reliable or trustworthy at all.

He came in and didn't ask any questions, started going through the crawlspace and trying to find stuff. My wife's got a busted back so she couldn't move anything back. It was a big mess. American Home Shield should not bother sending him at our house again. But the tech from GSSN was professional, friendly, kept his social distancing and followed all the guidelines. He came in, made the diagnosis, got the product and put it in. No fuss, no muss. He did a good job.

I called AHS on December the 2nd and they sent somebody out here who said there was a missing part. AHS rejected the claim because there were missing parts. On another claim that I made through them, I'd gone on vacation in the summer and when I came back, my air conditioner wasn't working. They told me that they couldn't fix it so I had to get a new unit in the attic. I paid $4,047 for this new unit. For someone to come in and say there are missing parts, I don't know when, why or how it happened. I've been having heat for seven years.

AHS told me we could get a second opinion. I told them I'm on a fixed income. I don't have money to be giving them $100. I had to go through four of the people from the company and got me all upset. I have elderly people in here. It was cold and I didn't have any heat. The problem was the company that AHS called out before South Belt AC & Heating. South Belt came in here and the guy was up there no less than five minutes and fixed it. There was no missing part. He was very professional and very friendly. But I had been through so much frustration with the last two claims that I made. I'm looking for another company because this is how upset I am and I would not recommend AHS anywhere to any one of my friends.

When I submitted a claim yesterday for my refrigerator, AHS's system asked "What Appliance?" I clicked "refrigerator" and their system told me to tell it what the problem was. It gave me a choice between not cooling, not cooling too much, two or three choices, and other. The problem was that the fan is out of balance and it would make a racket when it came on. There was no place to type that. AHS should give me the opportunity to write the symptoms down a little bit. That would be helpful when they refer the claim to the local appliance repair shop. When I click on other, AHS should just give me an opportunity to free-form type 25 words or less in the description of the problem.

The appointment with Queen Electric went fine. The issue was taken care of. It was something I probably didn't even have to call for. But it was great. The guy was on time and courteous. He showed me what the issue was and fixed it. On the other hand, the one that I had trouble with was an appliance company. They came to fix my microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. The guy was courteous. Everything was good. But when he left, he told me I would be able to use my microwave. He said he had to get a few parts. When he left, I thought I would be able to use the microwave because he told me that all I needed was a part. And I thought the part was for the turntable. But when I went to use the microwave, it didn't heat. There was no heating element.

I didn't like the girl’s attitude when I called on the phone. I said, “I'm going to need him to come back out because he told me I'd be able to use my microwave.” And she said, “Well, I'll give him the message. But I don't think he'll call you back.” That was unprofessional for her to say. Also, I told her my microwave didn't heat and she kept telling me the name of the item that he was supposed to get. It's called a magnetron. I didn't find out until calling American Home Shield that a magnetron is the heating element.

Why would the tech tell me I could use the microwave and the part was a part that wouldn't affect the usage of it? And the girl on the phone, when I called Creative Connection, didn't handle it correctly because she never called back. Also, I had to call AHS to get them the call to get the bottom-line as to what was happening with my microwave. I told American Home Shield, “After this is complete –” because he does have to come back to bring a part for the dishwasher and a part for the microwave to make it work fine – “I will probably add another appliance company onto my contract so that I'll never get them again.”

In addition, their price went up recently but I never got correspondence that it would go up. That was sneaky. I paid $55 a month for a long time, and then it went up to $63. The girl that called last year when it would go up gave me a courtesy call and said my account was about to expire. But this year, I didn't get anything. I just saw an increase. But other than that, everything that was handled so far has been fine.

The gentleman came out within a couple of days. He didn't have the parts so he told us once he ordered the parts, he would come in. He kept us informed whenever the parts got to him. Once they had the parts, he called us and set up an arrangement for him to come out and put the parts back in. The good thing is he put metal brackets which are way better than the plastic ones. He was very professional. He came in with his PPE. He knew what he was talking about. It was easy to talk to him and strike up a conversation on what needed to be fixed.

Before that, my Vizio TV had went and the experience was kinda okay. AHS sent out a TV company and they were also professional. They had the TV for maybe a couple of weeks. They sent it back but it was still doing the same problem. I called them and they contacted the insurance company and replaced it all completely within a couple of days. The only thing was the waiting because of them ordering the parts and the parts didn’t get the problem fixed so they went ahead and bought a whole new TV. I was pretty impressed.

The process with AHS is real simple. You go online and they’d ask you a few questions. Once you are able to give them that, the contractor scheduled to come out would give you a call and set up an arrangement for them to come out and have a look at the problem. I tell all my friends, “Don’t get the store policy, get the home warranty." Hopefully, my friends listened to me and they did.

I happen to be a customer for the last three years and I used to pay less premium like $400 for a year. Suddenly, this year, AHS increased by $250 dollars. I was thinking about shopping around, but I don't have time. That's the reason I'm continuing this. But $400-plus to $600-plus is a big increase. I'm seriously considering and going to shop around when I get some time. I have another service request that's still open. The second thing is about my water faucets and toilet sinks, some leaking. And when the plumber came and saw, and he suggested to replace the faucet handle, he gave me two options. He could either buy and replace and charge to AHS, or we could ask the warranty company if they could replace it free.

We went with the second option, and I spoke to Moen and they were very kind enough to send me all the handles. It saved a lot of money for both of us. AHS doesn't need to buy all those equipments. So, I'm trying my best to keep the cost down for even AHS. But still, I am asked to pay the $200-plus in the annual membership. That's a lot of increase.

Recently, my circuit breaker broke and there were also a couple of other issues like the switchboard and my GFCI switch on the kitchen. I thought there would be a bigger issue in the circuit breaker, but it was a simple loose connection. Alejo Electric fixed it easily. Submitting that claim was a simple process. The only thing was, I hoped for them to come on the same day, but they came on the next day. One of my room power supply was cut off. And because of that, the internet was down, and that affected the online schools for the kids. That was the reason why I even told American Home Shield it was an emergency. But it was not in their guidelines that it is an emergency. Maybe with a pandemic, they need to add internet as an emergency thing.

J and K Plumbing came out the first time for the upstairs bathroom flush. The tank would fill up but it would keep running so they fixed it. Then we found out that our downstairs kitchen tap was not closing properly. We also had a stain on the ceiling. They looked at it and said that there might be a leak. We asked them to do it and they said that those were not in the order. We called AHS back, and the second time, we put in those two things. Two weeks later, the guy came in and did both of them. The tap is doing good but it's showing its age. It's still fussy and we just have to change the tap eventually. It was not of good quality. Then we have to keep an eye open on the stain if it gets bigger. I'm hoping that fixed it, but I believe this guy. I liked him. It's just that I'm not very happy with AHS because it's $75 per month and then $75 per thing. So, although the overall service is pretty good, it's quite expensive.

I put in a claim to American Home Shield for my icemaker on my fridge. It wasn't making any ice. So, the guy came over and he fixed it supposedly. But two months later, it stopped making ice. Supposedly, the guy put in a brand new icemaker, and it stopped working. So I called AHS back again and put another claim. They wanted to charge me another $100. I didn't agree with another $100 charge so I was gonna cancel Home Shield. So, they put me on hold and they waived the $100 fee because they wanted to keep me as a customer. That was really good. I like that. They came out here with another contractor because I requested a different contractor because I didn't really like the first one. They took really a long time to fix it. But the second contractor responded really fast, and he came out and fixed it really fast, and it's working really good. I was really happy. I’d recommend AHS to my buddy. They’re really good.
