I needed a bolt replaced on my garage door, and the service was exceptional. The technician came out, replaced the bolt in just five minutes, and didn't charge anything for it. He was great. I have been using American Home Shield for about three years now, and I've found their warranty and claim process to be solid. I just submit a request, and they typically call me back the next morning. It's a good setup. Overall, I am very satisfied with their service.
Dear Paul,
Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback. We appreciate your business.

The pump on my washing machine was failing and after I submitted a claim through American Home Shield, it took about a week for Quality Services LLC to come out and inspect the issue. They determined that the pump indeed needed replacement, which extended the process by another week and a half as they had to order a new one. Overall, it took approximately three weeks before everything was resolved, but American Home Shield came through by covering all the expenses and providing me with a new washer.
While the process itself was simple to navigate both online and via phone, the extended time it took was less than ideal. The contractor who came was fine, and I appreciated how American Home Shield paid for the repairs and replacement. However, I would recommend they improve their response time to service calls. Despite the delay, I would still suggest American Home Shield to friends and family. In summary, my experience was positive, though with room for improvement in service speed.

I encountered an issue with the temperatures on each floor of my home. American Home Shield had a contractor come out promptly, and they diagnosed the problem, which was related to my ducts not working. They coordinated with Home Shield, got the necessary approvals, and ordered the required parts. Within two to three days, they were back out here and replaced everything, and now everything is functioning perfectly. They did a great job.
The contractor was very personable and quick to diagnose the issue, explaining everything clearly to me. Although I did have a previous slower experience with a vendor when my washer needed repairs—likely due to part shipping delays—it did not affect my overall satisfaction. The vendor had to replace the board and the motor. They sent one guy out, then they sent another guy out and he said, "No, we're not just gonna replace the board. It's really the motor as well." It took about six weeks to resolve, partly due to holiday delays. It happened around Thanksgiving. They might have had to get the parts from Korea as well.
I have already recommended American Home Shield to friends and family, telling them it's the greatest thing. I didn't know I was gonna have any issues and I decided to get them because I had them when I initially moved in to my home. Luckily, I did. Despite the washer incident, I highly recommend their service for the peace of mind and prompt assistance they provide.
Dear Mary,

My experience with American Home Shield was quite frustrating. When Aurora America's HVAC came out to fix my dishwasher, the technician, who turned out to be the owner, made a mess in my kitchen by spilling water and walking around with dirty shoes, leaving it all uncleaned. Communication was difficult due to his limited English, which made the situation more uncomfortable. He was argumentative and dismissive when I explained my dishwasher issues, claiming nothing could be done.
To add to my discomfort, he seemed defiant, which made me uneasy about having him in my home. I even pretended my husband was present because something felt off. Post-visit, I had to clean up the entire mess he left behind.
When I reached out to American Home Shield to report this, I spoke with a representative in Spanish. The lady that I spoke with was nice, but I haven't heard from them. Aside from continuous emails and texts from the company, there hasn't been any meaningful follow-up. The planned repairs for my stove burner and dishwasher are pending, but I'm hesitant about letting the same company back into my home.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield right now due to this unresolved issue. I give them 1 out of 5 stars, as zero wasn't an option. Despite past positive experiences with other technicians, this incident has left me very dissatisfied. If the company doesn’t resolve this soon, I can't see myself recommending them to friends or family.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.
Warm regards,Marc

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a stove that went out, and I needed to order a new microwave and oven set. Unfortunately, the model I ordered was out of stock and I've had to wait for the delivery, which is expected tomorrow. However, the new appliance doesn't match what I had originally. This isn't my first experience with issues like this through AHS. I pay a hefty monthly fee to them, yet when problems arise, it seems it often leads to hassle and out-of-pocket costs if I were to go outside of their services.
In the past, I had a similar situation regarding my dishwasher replacement, which ended up being of lesser quality compared to my original one. The process itself wasn't bad as I submitted claims online, but the follow-up service was poor, as no one informed me the dishwasher was on backorder until I reached out to them.
When Sears came out for measurements, the technicians struggled with English, which made communication challenging, although they did resolve the issue. The dishwasher replacement, installed a couple of years ago, works fine, but it aesthetically isn't what I had. I accepted it because I didn't want to incur additional costs.
I'd rate my overall experience with American Home Shield as a 2 out of 5. The customer service and the pricing also receive the same score. Improvements could be made in product selection and better pricing. The monthly payment, which recently increased to about $180, feels quite steep, especially as I'm nearing retirement and there's only one income in our household now. Overall, while I find their services necessary, AHS's quality and customer service leave much to be desired.
Dear Debra,
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss this further.

My sewer ejector pump stopped working, and I had to reach out for a repair via the usual process of calling in a claim with American Home Shield. The claim submission was straightforward, but the service by T Mayes Plumbing & Heating was somewhat frustrating. They visited several times and initially found no issues, but later identified a problem on their last visit. Despite this, I am still awaiting the actual repair.
I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about a year, and I appreciate the protection they provide for expensive repairs, but I feel that the time it takes for service providers to return calls and complete repairs could be improved. While I've generally found the customer service to be helpful, the waiting periods between services have been less than ideal.
I faced a similar issue with my refrigerator, where I eventually had to purchase a new one myself due to delays, and only received a partial reimbursement.
Overall, I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5. Their service offers worthwhile protection, but the timeliness and efficiency of repairs need enhancement. I don't use the online tools often, but I found them easy to navigate when checking on my previous claims.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield concerning my water heater. Initially, it wasn't staying lit or producing hot water correctly. The first technician blamed us for poor maintenance, although the issue was inside the heater and inaccessible without dismantling it. After we requested a second opinion, the next technician confirmed it was irreparable, and they replaced it.
The initial hassle was frustrating, although the replacement works fine now. Generally, filing claims online is straightforward, but you're charged a service fee immediately, regardless of the result. Response time can stretch to 3-5 days if it coincides with weekends or holidays, which is unsatisfactory.
Reflecting on past experiences, there was a time over the holidays when it took over three months to repair a dishwasher, which left a sour impression. Overall, if American Home Shield performs the service as warranted, it's beneficial. However, due to these past delays and issues including the price that has gotten a little high, I'm considering exploring other options.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I'm impressed with the service received and would confidently rate American Home Shield at a 5-star level.

I had a very disappointing experience with American Home Shield. I contacted their service to request an electrician, following their advice on which service I needed. The electrician came and said everything was working fine and he didn't have to do anything, despite the issue. He mentioned he would send a referral for HVAC services, but American Home Shield wouldn't cover the HVAC costs. Moreover, the referral was never sent. I ended up paying $150 for a visit where nothing was resolved, and the issue remains unfixed.
The inconsistencies in what the warranty covers and doesn't cover are frustrating. I called beforehand to ensure I selected the right service, yet ended up with an unresolved problem and out-of-pocket expenses. Considering the company's instructions were unclear and their customer service wasn't helpful, I feel the cost of the visit should partially be refunded when no solution is provided.
The customer service was poor, and the discrepancy in warranty coverage is unacceptable. The price isn't bad overall, but there needs to be accountability if the service provided doesn't solve the issue. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very negative, and I would not recommend them to others.

When I had an electrical issue with my home, American Home Shield sent out a technician from Hopwood Electric. The problem was due to some wiring that had come loose, though neither the technician nor I could determine why it happened. Fortunately, the technician resolved the issue promptly.
The technician arrived on time and was polite throughout the process. I have consistently received great service from all the contractors that American Home Shield uses. If someone asks me about my experience, I always tell them that I've had positive experiences with American Home Shield. For the service I've received so far, I would rate them highly.

I got coverage with American Home Shield when my previous provider, OneGuard, was no longer available. Although I'm unclear whether they were bought out by American Home Shield, I ended up with their service after OneGuard was canceled. My experience with American Home Shield regarding a recent claim was a bit mixed. I had issues with my washer as it wasn't reaching the spin cycle, leaving my clothes soaking wet. I submitted the claim by calling them, and the process was straightforward - getting through to an actual person wasn't difficult.
While American Home Shield itself was fine, the contractor they sent, Good Appliance Services, didn't diagnose the issue correctly initially. The repairman replaced one part hoping to fix the problem, but it didn't work. This led to multiple visits—three in total—before the correct problem was diagnosed and resolved. Each time, they assured me it was fixed, but it wasn't.
The positive aspect of having this protection is the peace of mind it brings, knowing you won't face huge repair costs for your appliances. However, it's crucial to shop around and research before selecting such a service. Based on this experience, if rating American Home Shield's customer service, I'd give it a 3 out of 5, though their coverage seems solid and their online tool I found quite helpful. The price I would rate a 4, as I've not compared it much with others. Overall, I advise thoroughly checking customer feedback and ratings before committing.

Since the repair, everything has been working smoothly. Overall, I would rate American Home Shield highly in various aspects of my experience. The customer service was top-notch, and the website was user-friendly, making it easy to file the claim. My wife handled the initial warranty purchase, and we've been satisfied with the coverage and the pricing. American Home Shield was very easy to communicate with, and they were prompt in their response, which made the whole process hassle-free.

I have several condos and 25 policies with American Home Shield. I've been a customer for over 25 years, initially starting with HSA. My experience with their technicians has been mixed; some are good, while others fall short. Usually, I try to make a note of the people I'm dissatisfied with so that when I call for service, before the girl puts the information into the screen, I tell her which service providers I prefer not to use.
Regarding costs, I pay the service in full, not monthly, which works well for me. One recent issue involved an authorized bill for an outside plumber because American Home Shield couldn't get their service technician out in time. However, I haven't resolved this yet due to a personal constraint.
Overall, I'd rate American Home Shield highly—they perform well most times. On occasion, things might run bad, but because I'm a real estate professional, I have the ability to reach out to supervisors. Sometimes I also get online followups saying, "How was your service call or your agent?" but I only go online once a month and I have thousands of emails coming in. Besides that, I'm satisfied and willing to recommend American Home Shield, hence putting my final rating at a 5 since I'm in a positive mood today.

The technician attempted to fix my washing machine, but the repair was not successful. I called American Home Shield because the technician claimed language barriers when I tried to ask questions. Despite my request, I wasn't allowed to choose a different contractor. I was told to give the same technician another chance, and even after a second visit, the appliance is still not working properly. During the last visit, the technician downplayed the issue, saying it didn't interfere with the washing, but I disagree and have refused further visits from them.
I'm currently waiting for American Home Shield to contact me to send someone else. This isn't the first time I've faced issues with them. Previously, they sent a technician to fix my AC but claimed it wasn't their problem, despite evidence from another contractor indicating otherwise. On multiple occasions, like with my stovetop, repairs were attempted but never successfully completed. I've had to manage many repairs on my own because they deny more claims than they resolve.
I've found the technicians provided by American Home Shield to be unsatisfactory, and they seem ill-equipped to handle repairs effectively. Overall, I would rate the service very low. While AHS claims to cover many things, the coverage seems meaningless because the actual repairs are not properly executed.

The young man from Dailey Comfort Heating who came out was excellent. He resolved my issue efficiently. He was a great young guy, owned the company, came out and gave me a straight story. I did a little research to find out if he was legit and he was. I had to pay quite a bit besides his fee to get him out there, but all is fair in consumerism. However, my experience took a turn shortly after when I had a problem with my water heater. I submitted a ticket online to American Home Shield, but their system was confusing. The lack of a clear link for water heater issues led them to mistakenly address the heating system instead.
This mishap required me to cancel and resubmit my order, causing delays. They sent out Pronto Plumbing, who did minimal testing and quoted me an exorbitant price for repairs not covered by my warranty. After paying their fee, I promptly asked AHS to send out someone else. They sent out a different company and they gave me a quote for something totally different for another $600, and I paid their fee. We're up to $275 by now.
Not being satisfied and being a technical person myself, I called out another plumber who was kind enough to come out, included my call-out fee with the repair, and was able to locate the problem with my water heater system. He remedied the problem in a day. I paid to get all the components that those guys wanted to change and I was able to get all the work done for less than the quotes for two plumbers that AHS sent out. It seems AHS's vendor selection is lacking, as their contractors appear more interested in upselling unnecessary services than actually fixing problems.
The customer service team at AHS seemed to care but lacked the knowledge to address my concerns effectively. In terms of rating, I would give American Home Shield a low score for their services. I'm actively searching for another warranty company due to this unsatisfactory experience.

American Home Shield sent out a contractor to repair my AC and I was initially concerned, but the technicians were great. They arrived on time, were polite, and very informative. The process of submitting the claim was straightforward, and my AC has been working well since their visit.
However, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been mixed. While this particular service call was positive, there's a broader issue at play. I've been with them for years, and I've noticed a pattern where they don't seem to value their good contractors—often resulting in losing them. I encouraged American Home Shield to retain contractors like the ones who serviced my AC as previous dealings with them left me dissatisfied.
For instance, I had a terrible experience with a plumbing issue years ago. It was during a very stressful time for me when my mother was in hospice care. The contractor from Action Plumbing came out, identified the problem, and incorrectly informed me that the necessary replacement wasn't covered by my warranty. I ended up purchasing a part myself and was charged an outrageous installation fee, only to find out later that it should have been covered. Regrettably, that contractor remains in business, and the faulty faucet still reminds me of the ordeal.
Although American Home Shield is slightly better compared to other home warranty companies, they are not the fantastic option they should be. I stay with them due to a lack of better alternatives in the market, but there are several practices I disapprove of and have found issues with their handling of claims in the past.
For those considering American Home Shield, do weigh your options and be aware of potential issues with contractor management and service claim processes.

Tom Melton Services diagnosed that the tiles needed caulking, which wasn't covered by American Home Shield. Ultimately, we decided to replace the shower surround. Although the technician was polite, he wasn't wearing any company identification, didn't have a business card, and shared his personal phone number with me for follow-ups, which made it challenging to contact the office afterward.
While we haven't completed the shower replacement yet, the overall process has been straightforward. Additionally, we had a less satisfactory experience with a roofer in our other home, who provided a warranty but has been unresponsive. The quality of some technicians, particularly the roofer and the plumber, could be improved. However, other services like dishwasher repair, electrical work, and HVAC review were satisfactory, and those technicians were professional.
Despite these mixed experiences, I would rate my overall satisfaction with American Home Shield at 4 out of 5 stars as most of the services have been satisfactory.

I had a great experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for our house in Palmer, Alaska. Our heating was not working, so I submitted a claim online. The process was quite easy. Before the contractor arrived, I received detailed information about him, including his name and company background.
When the contractor from Metal Meadow Lake Supply Company Plumbing and Heating arrived, he was very respectful and knowledgeable. He quickly identified that a computer-related part needed replacement. Though he had to return the next day after acquiring the part, he resolved the issue promptly.
I highly recommend American Home Shield's service, as they were responsive and efficient. I've been with their service since buying our house, as it was included in our purchase deal and recommended by our agent because it’s considered the best here.
The quick response time was impressive, and there’s little I can suggest for improvement, although it did take a day for the contractor to arrive. Overall, their service is wonderful, and I would certainly tell family and friends to go for it.
The customer service, coverage, and online website all deserve a 5-star rating, as everything was handled smoothly and efficiently.

I have had a few claims with American Home Shield (AHS) which I've been with for a couple of years now. My most recent experience involved an issue with my HVAC system, which had electrical problems. Initially, a contractor was sent to diagnose and fix the problem. He replaced a part and assured me everything was fine, but when I turned on the heater, the issue persisted. I had to schedule another appointment, and a different technician came about a week later. He found that the wires were mixed up and fixed it.
The interaction with American Home Shield and the contractors was generally fine, though the work wasn't completed correctly the first time. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I have been a Gold Member with American Home Shield (AHS) for months, faithfully paying my premiums, expecting at least basic service when needed. Big mistake. A couple of months ago, my washer and dryer started acting up. I submitted a service request, paid the $125 service fee, and a technician came out. He claimed the issue was fixed—but it wasn’t. The same problems persisted. I called again, and this time, they blamed it on a clogged vent. Fine—I cleaned the vents myself. And guess what? Now my washer and dryer are even worse than before—banging loudly, shaking violently, and practically dancing across my laundry room.
And AHS? They marked my service request as "complete" and left me with completely unusable appliances. I called customer service, and all they did was give me the runaround. No accountability, no real solutions—just an expensive membership fee, an additional service charge, and a laundry machine that sounds like it's possessed. American Home Shield is a complete joke. They take your money, send incompetent contractors, and then abandon you when things go wrong. Save yourself the frustration, the wasted time, and the money—DO NOT use AHS.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for an oven hood issue, and the process went very smoothly. The contractor they sent was excellent and communicated promptly. Since the repair, the oven hood has been working perfectly.
However, my experience with them regarding an AC unit claim was quite the opposite. Our AC unit stopped working, and the service provider they sent had poor reviews. They suggested that the entire unit needed replacement due to a coil issue, but American Home Shield argued they only cover parts, not the entire unit replacement. We went back and forth, leading to much frustration. In the end, they decided not to cover the replacement, offering only an $800 buyout for an $11,000 replacement.
Overall, my feelings towards American Home Shield are mixed. While smaller claims were handled well, the lack of support on larger issues was disappointing. Customer service was lacking, and the overall coverage wasn’t satisfactory. However, their online platform was quite easy to use. Based on my mixed experiences, it's fair to say my experience with them has been spotty.

I had an issue with my hot water heater. An alarm was going off, and Third Generation Plumbing and Mechanical Inc. came out to assess the situation. The technician ordered a part for the refrigerator but it took over two weeks for him to return and fix the issue, during which time I lost my food. The repair process seemed quite unorganized; when he first came over, he didn't have the necessary tools to diagnose the problem properly. However, after his final visit, the refrigerator was fixed, and thankfully, it's been working fine without any noise since then.
As for American Home Shield, while I had issues with the repair company they used, the customer service I received from them was pretty solid, and I would rate it a 4. The coverage price also seems fair, and I would give that a rating of 5. Overall, I've had mixed feelings about the experience because while the service from American Home Shield was decent, the execution by their partnered repair company left much to be desired.

The claims process with American Home Shield started smoothly when I was able to get through to a representative easily, which isn't usually the case. The representative was friendly and informative, clearly explaining the additional charges for different service areas. AHS sent BA Distributing LLC to fix the stove, washing machine, and dryer.
When the contractor arrived, he was very pleasant. I got old appliances and he told me that a lot of people like old appliances, and they're easy to work on. He was very happy to see what I had. It's reassuring to encounter someone who explains what's happening. For example, with my washing machine, he pointed out the ticking noise was due to the timer. For the dryer, he replaced the thermostat and advised me on unclogging the duct. As for the stove, he realigned the oven door for me, which was a bit out of place.
Even though I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years, I've noticed the price increases annually, which is frustrating. I attempted to negotiate a better rate, given my long-term loyalty, but it only worked after some persistence. My daughter just got a house and being a first-time homebuyer, her rate was much lower. Still, the recent service felt like fair value because the technician evaluated multiple appliances. I got a little bit better bargain for $100.
In terms of recommendations, I'd tell friends and family it's crucial to have a warranty for significant home systems. For customer service, I'd rate them a 4 out of 5 based on my recent interaction, though experiences can vary. The coverage is satisfactory, but premium plans are likely more comprehensive. Their website is functional, scoring a 4 out of 5 for ease of use.
Overall, while there are positives in service quality, the fluctuating costs and occasional difficulty reaching a representative could be improved.

I had a refrigerator issue wherein the point where the water filter hooks up in the fridge was leaking, and the filter wouldn’t stay in place. I contacted American Home Shield, and they sent a technician to diagnose the problem. However, after he sent the report to American Home Shield, they informed me that this issue wasn't covered under their plan as it wasn't considered normal wear and tear. As a result, I had to resolve it at my own expense.
This experience was quite frustrating. I'd rate their customer service a 3 out of 5 since communication can be challenging, and I'd also give a 3 for the overall service since the technicians they use aren't top-notch. Pricing-wise, I feel the value isn't great. On the positive side, I use their app and it's user-friendly.
Overall, I don't plan to renew my contract with American Home Shield because the process for repairs takes too long – about 2 to 3 days to get someone out and then to get approval and the parts, whereas calling an outside service is much quicker.

I am deeply dissatisfied with my recent experience with American Home Shield concerning an appliance claim. It all began when I filed a claim on January 14th, but now, as of March 18th, the issues remain unresolved. The vendor provided, Chesapeake Appliance Repair, has been consistently unresponsive. They never answered their phone and only called to say they were 20 minutes away without any prior scheduling conversation. Upon arrival, they neglected some problems we had stated— including the stove, oven, ice maker, and refrigerator display.
Even after reaching out multiple times, both personally and through AHS, we couldn't connect with the technician. A quick online search revealed numerous negative reviews about this vendor on Yelp dating back to 2019. It's perplexing why American Home Shield continues to partner with them despite such feedback. It feels like, as a loyal customer of over 20 years, I'm paying the price for a business decision that should've been addressed years ago.
Currently, AHS has offered an alternative technician who came out last week. While they managed to address some issues with the stove and oven, the refrigerator's ice maker and display are still malfunctioning. Jeff from the escalation team has been courteous, calling every few days, but there's little progress. It's infuriating to be told I might need to pay another fee when the original repairs are incomplete.
Overall, this has been a challenging experience, especially given I've been with AHS for more than two decades. While previous interactions required back-and-forths, this situation is the worst I've encountered. While Jeff’s communication is appreciated, the lack of tangible results is disheartening. We're now considering other companies due to this ordeal.

I got American Home Shield in February. The lady that owned the house before me had it, and I thought of continuing with it. Initially, I heard good things about the company and found the process of submitting claims online to be easy enough. However, I've had recurring issues with my microwave not turning on and, although the service is prompt, the problem remains unresolved despite three separate visits from different technicians. Each time, they pointed to various issues such as a blown fuse or breaker problems, costing me $100 per visit, yet my microwave still isn't fixed. The last guy that came out said that he would return it to the office, request that I get a new microwave and American Home Shield would let me know. But I haven't heard anything and that's been probably about a week.
While I appreciate the speed of service, I haven't seen any effective solutions to my problem yet. As a result, I am contemplating switching services. While American Home Shield is quick to respond, my personal experience with getting issues resolved has been less than satisfactory.

Initially, I had an issue with my furnace not heating the home properly, and I could even smell exhaust inside the house. I submitted a claim over the phone as I was having trouble with the online system at the time. Generally, the website is very easy to navigate, but this time I opted for the phone. The communication from American Home Shield was clear, as they provided me with the contractor's name, phone number, and address before they arrived. The contracting company, Hunter Appliance LLC, was excellent. Although they initially misdiagnosed the problem due to extreme cold, they promptly returned and fixed the issue correctly.
As far as the functionality and performance go, they were wonderful. I have been with American Home Shield since 2019 when I purchased a home, and their service has always been dependable and timely. I would recommend them to friends and family, as they consistently meet the terms of their contract. I tell my neighbors to consider American Home Shield because their coverage is straightforward and trustworthy. They always strive to assist and find help if needed.

When I filed a claim with them for the heating unit, the process felt convenient, although I wasn't happy with being unable to choose my own service providers. The contractors sent to fix it, Cecil, weren't initially successful, as it still didn't blow heat, and they had to return. But they were pretty good. American Home Shield does provide comprehensive coverage, covering even roofing, which I appreciate.
However, their prices are higher than some competitors, and they aren't flexible with discounts. I also wish I had the autonomy to choose different contractors, especially since I had issues with the ones sent to me. At times, contractors canceled appointments or deemed my system fine when issues persisted and AHS has some kind of clause where they have to keep using the same person even though they're not good. Customer service is polite and follows up after service, but they strictly adhere to protocol, which can be limiting. Despite my grievances, I still recommend American Home Shield to others. It gives peace of mind knowing there's coverage for unexpected repairs, which can save money overall.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield regarding an appliance issue. After the company sent a technician to fix my oven, the new part was installed, but the protective cover wasn't put back correctly. Attempting to reach out to them has been frustrating, as it involves lengthy wait times and a complicated process to speak with someone who can help.
While the service quality itself is decent once they finally address an issue, the customer service leaves much to be desired. As a healthcare worker with limited time, spending hours trying to resolve problems is quite inconvenient. Moreover, the lack of transparency in the process is troubling. For instance, when they replace a product, they don't inform you about the importance of keeping details like the model number, which is crucial when a problem arises again. Also, I had a situation where they accidentally canceled my contract and I had to re-sign up. But it worked in my favor that they did that because my new contract is cheaper than my original one.
For improvements, I’d suggest making better use of the chat feature by reducing the need for multiple authentications and increasing transparency between departments. Clear communication about what information should be retained when a product is replaced would also be helpful.

I've been a customer since 2007, and they've repeatedly failed to provide the services I've paid for despite taking my premiums and copays. Recently, I had an issue with plumbing and needed a technician. The first technician they sent said it would cost an extra $420 on top of what I'd already paid because of supposed additional work needed, even though I have an access panel.
When I requested a second opinion, American Home Shield claimed they had no other contractors available. Living just 20 minutes south of Philly, it's hard to believe they couldn't find anyone else. Instead, they offered me a cash payout of $140, which isn't enough to cover any additional technician fees. When I tried to escalate the issue, I was given the runaround and repeatedly told that no supervisors were available to speak with me, despite being promised callbacks and emails that never came.
Eventually, I was told that to maintain coverage, I would have to pay the original contractor an additional $420, on top of my $100 copay and $250 monthly premium. I'm stuck trying to sell my house by court order, but the broken mixer valve means it only provides scalding hot water, and that's unacceptable for potential buyers. Despite numerous issues over the years, American Home Shield continues to disappoint. Their call centers seem understaffed, and I often get connected to people who don’t seem fully awake, likely due to differing time zones.
I've decided to take my grievances public, warning others on social media platforms to avoid American Home Shield at all costs. They fail to deliver on their promises and seem more interested in collecting premiums than addressing customer issues. I strongly advise against using them and recommend saving your money for repairs instead.
I don't ever use their online tools. If you make an error there, you're stuck. It's best to call and speak to a person, especially for multiple item claims. American Home Shield is more focused on saving money than helping customers. I've completely lost faith in them and their willingness to assist longstanding customers like myself.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for my dryer, as the heating element went out. The claim process was smooth and I submitted it online, which was convenient. The technician, James, who was sent by American Home Shield to fix it, was excellent. He had been to my place before and provided consistent service. Since the repair, my dryer has been working perfectly.
I have been a loyal customer of American Home Shield since 1997 when I lived in California. However, since moving to Tennessee in 2017, I noticed the rates have increased significantly. Despite my long-term loyalty, I feel disappointed that there isn't any consideration for reducing yearly rates for longstanding customers like myself. It's frustrating to not receive any incentives, like those offered by other insurance companies, for my continued loyalty.
Before renewing this year, I considered other companies because the cost has become exorbitant. It's now $1200 annually, up from $1000, and I haven't had many service needs as my appliances are relatively new. The only recent services were for my dryer and a heat pump replacement, both of which went well. Although the actual service experiences have been positive, dealing with customer service is often a hassle, requiring repetitive information despite having all my details on file.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield is bittersweet. While recent service was satisfactory thanks to James, the lack of customer loyalty incentives and cumbersome dealings with customer service have left me contemplating other options. I hope my feedback encourages American Home Shield to reconsider how they value their long-term customers.

The oven's control panel went out, and when I filed a claim, American Home Shield declined it, attributing the problem to a power surge, which they don't cover. This was frustrating because replacing the electrical panel was going to cost $700, and electrical issues are supposedly covered. To ensure my electrical was fine, I filed another claim for an electrical check-up. The technician who came, despite not initially checking the electrical box, eventually replaced the breaker switch for the oven.
As for the claim process, both claims were handled promptly in terms of setting appointments, but I feel dissatisfied overall. I've had American Home Shield since either 2020 or 2021, and my experience hasn't been great. They seem to find ways to avoid coverage, as seen with a previous ceiling fan claim. Even though the fan was covered, they required me to pay for a ladder to access it due to high ceilings. Right now, I'm considering dropping American Home Shield due to their tendency to evade responsibility, similar to other insurance companies.

I had quite a challenging experience with American Home Shield. Initially, a technician from their service misdiagnosed an issue with one of my appliances, which resulted in it being worse off after his visit. When I called them back, a second technician came and did an excellent job, but I ended up having to pay $800 for the repairs, in addition to the $75 service fee. I expected American Home Shield to cover these kinds of repair costs, as that's the reason for having home insurance. However, I ended up paying a hefty amount out of pocket. Their website is difficult to navigate, which often leads me to seek help elsewhere.
For instance, when I needed work done on my roof, American Home Shield did not cover it, leaving me with unresolved holes in my ceiling. This has not been a one-time occurrence; I also had to pay for parts for my water heater installation, which seemed like an unnecessary expense on top of their regular fees. At this point, paying for a home warranty with American Home Shield seems almost redundant. I've opted instead to save for repairs independently, which seems more efficient. I've since switched to HomeServe, which provides a far superior service that's easy to use, from their website navigation to quick service responses.

However, the experience with Fresh Air Services LLC, the contractor sent by American Home Shield, was disappointing. It took about 2 to 3 days for them to come to my property. When they arrived, they misrepresented the service by initially claiming that the pump was not covered under my warranty. After I contacted American Home Shield, Fresh Air Services changed their narrative, stating that some ancillary components were not covered, which still resulted in additional charges for me. I felt obligated to pay them because they had already disassembled the pump. I later found numerous negative reviews about Fresh Air Services on Google and Yelp, pointing to similar experiences.
Additionally, the technician pressured me to give a high rating by standing over me until I rated his service, which was highly unprofessional and disappointing. I would rate Fresh Air Services very poorly, at a 1.Despite these issues with the contractor, my overall experience with American Home Shield was more positive. The company is easy to work with, and their website is user-friendly for service requests. However, the clarity on coverage could be improved. I encountered issues with both my washing machine and dishwasher. Initially, a technician replaced the suspension coils in the washing machine due to a persistent knocking sound. However, the problem resurfaced after two weeks. The technician then suggested the issue might be with the bearings, implying a costly repair, and advised that a new washing machine might be necessary. So far, I'm still awaiting an update on the ongoing washing machine issue and wish this process was more efficient.
Regarding the dishwasher, it was determined to be leaking and outdated, leading to its replacement through American Home Shield. The process of having it installed and the old one hauled away was cumbersome. I was tasked with finding a removal service myself, which cost more than the offered $150 reimbursement. This led to numerous lengthy and fruitless phone calls, including dealing with Sears, who refused to perform the removal despite clear instructions and communications from my end. Eventually, I found a company from Orlando, about 150 miles away, to complete the task.
The technicians who visited my home were professional and courteous, so no issues there. It was unfortunate with Sears because I made things very clear. I even sent them pictures, gave them a narrative, told them that the old dishwasher was in place, the new one was here, and that they needed to install and haul away. The guy came and he said that he was only told that he was there to fix it. So the responsibility that fell back on me for arranging removal was aggravating. It consumed a significant amount of my time and energy, which are valuable to me. Previously, my experiences with American Home Shield were smoother, and such delays were not typical. I rated them a 3 out of 5, acknowledging room for improvement, especially in how customer responsibility is handled during appliance exchanges.

My realtor talked me into getting American Home Shield. 3 months after buying my home my air conditioner breaks down in the middle of summer in Texas. Everyday in my home was around 100 degrees. I instantly put a service request in with AHS which cost me 100 dollars. They took several days to get back to me to tell me that I would have to find someone out of their network. So I started looking and found someone to come. They told me I would have to call to get prior approval when the tech showed up. The tech showed up and gave his recommendations so I called AHS so that they could talk with him and we could get this ball rolling. They kept me on hold for an hour. The tech had other calls so he had to leave. By the time they answered he was gone and had to end up scheduling another service call.
Since it was several days out I went and bought 2k worth of portable air conditioning since we are over a week now of 100 degree temps in my house. When the tech finally came back I ended up getting AHS on the phone after a 45 minute wait, and he explained to her what needed to be done and the price she then said to email the quote. So he left and I emailed the quote then received an email back stating that the tech had to call in. So I drove down to the AC repair place 25 minutes away and got on a conference call with AHS. I ended up doing this 4 times over a 3 week period with AHS adding new hoops for either me or the company to jump through.
I finally gave up and paid the 7k out of pocket. The AC repair company said this is why they don't normally deal with AHS because they have several customers who were waiting MONTHS to get their stuff approved. 2 weeks later my hot water heater broke. I decided it wasn't even worth it to call AHS and paid the repair guy 2.2k just to fix it, when I explained about my AC to him and the problems with AHS he shook his head and said that his company almost 200 customers that have been waiting on AHS over the past year since he's been there. This company is the closest thing to a criminal organization that exist outside of a movie. They need to be investigated.

I could not be more frustrated with American Home Shield and I've only had them a few weeks. I moved into a home and heard good reviews about this company so when asked by my realtor to determine who I'd like a year policy with I chose AHS. Upon moving in my house I found out my dishwasher isn't working, so I promptly filed a claim. The "pro" they contract with in my area has, solely, 1-star reviews, is NOT accredited with the BBB, and the lengthy horror stories of referred AHS customers for their servicing is horrifying. I immediately called to try and seek an alternative contractor for the job, to no avail. AHS not only doesn't care that their ONLY contractor in the San Antonio area has HORRENDOUS reviews, but I could not, I repeat, could NOT talk to any representative based in the United States.
Four "escalation" supervisors have called me, and all are based in the Philippines. They've told me so. I am appalled at the poor customer service and poor representation this company has, it clearly does not care who they contract with, otherwise negative and poor experiences by its customers would alter its contractor partnership. I would also note that I am aware, companies will generally generate mixed reviews from both happy and unhappy customers so I would assume to find both in a thriving business, FALSE. A's Appliance Repair Co. SOLELY has negative, 1-star reviews. Not a single satisfied customer. I am ready to cancel this gold standard plan I bought and venture elsewhere. AHS does not offer alternative contractors, buyer beware.

Overall, American Home Shield (AHS) has been helpful, but I recently faced a prolonged delay with a service issue. On February 12th, I reported a problem with my washing machine, and it wasn't until March that they determined the motor needed replacing. They've told me that the motor will be installed by March 28th, but the wait has been lengthy. Dealing with the contractors has been hit or miss; some were rude, but others were very nice. For instance, with Sears repair, I was given a time window for the repair, but it kept getting pushed, leading to unnecessary rescheduling on my part as I had to manage my dog training appointments. One contractor even incorrectly assessed my machine, suggesting I needed a new washer due to mold, but eventually ordered the wrong parts, adding to my frustration. However, all the phone representatives were good, except for that one unhelpful in-person encounter.
One issue I encountered was with AHS's subcontracting practices. Once they pass the service to another company, it felt like American Home Shield was out of the loop and not very helpful until the problem persisted. I had to handle much of the follow-up myself, which was inconvenient. Although AHS isn't my first home warranty provider, I've noticed a recurring theme of companies promising comprehensive coverage but later disagreeing over detailed terms, like cleanliness standards in Florida's climate. Despite the challenges, American Home Shield's customer service over the phone has been supportive during most of my dealings.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I am extremely frustrated with AHS’s handling of my washing machine repair request. The delays, misdiagnoses, and repeated technician visits have now extended to over 43 days, and my washing machine remains unrepaired. It is unacceptable that I have had to go through multiple service appointments without any resolution.
Here is a detailed timeline of events: February 3, 2025: I raised a service request with AHS after my washing machine started leaking. February 6, 2025: A technician visited but stated that the issue was with the outer pipes and refused to work on it, claiming that he was not a plumber. February 17, 2025: AHS scheduled a plumber under a free service request. The plumber diagnosed the issue and confirmed that the problem was with the washing machine itself, not the pipes. February 18, 2025: Another technician was sent, who finally acknowledged that the machine required new parts. AHS ordered the parts and scheduled a repair once they arrived.
February 23, 2025: The parts were delivered, but the technician did not schedule an appointment until March 3, 2025—an unnecessary delay.March 3, 2025: The technician attempted to install the new parts but failed to fix the machine, stating that it was still not functional. He asked us to wait until the next day for further updates. March 11, 2025: AHS now claims that the part has arrived, but the technician is not available until March 18, making the total repair time 43 days and counting, with no guarantee of resolution.
This absurd delay in service, coupled with multiple failed repair attempts, has caused significant inconvenience to my household. It is clear that AHS is prioritizing cost-cutting over customer satisfaction, refusing to replace a machine that is clearly beyond repair. I demand an immediate resolution—either a competent repair within a few days or a full replacement of the unit as per my service contract. I expect this matter to be escalated immediately and resolved without further delays. I look forward to your urgent response.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is important to us, it will help us ensure a better experience next time.

I have been with American Home Shield since we bought our house, mainly because their warranty covers our well. We had an issue with our washing machine where it would stop mid-cycle, and we had to unplug it to reset. I submitted a claim online and paid the co-pay, and Sears came out to inspect it. Unfortunately, the technician didn't find anything wrong, and the problem persists intermittently. While the washer isn't fixed, we've had other services, like furnace repairs, handled well by American Home Shield. There was one hiccup when our heat went out, and we needed an emergency service that they didn't cover, but generally, I am satisfied with their service. We have lots of coverage, which might not be worthwhile for some, but for us, the peace of mind, especially concerning the well, makes it valuable.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

I’ve reached out to American Home Shield by telephone twice now to cancel my policy as I sold my home in December. I called once in December (Which I recorded) and then again appx. two months later when I noticed that they had still been charging me. Due to my lack of confidence in their integrity, I also advised American Express not to accept charges and to dispute charges according to my circumstances. Now I am receiving yet another letter demanding payment. This company is simply incorrigible and despicable. I would like correspondence confirming the closure of this account and a refund of what they have stolen from me.

My dishwasher issue has been ongoing for over a year and a half now and American Home Shield has sent out multiple technicians, but none have been able to diagnose the problem properly. So, that's been a very frustrating process. Additionally, one of the technicians was incredibly rude, refusing to discuss his findings with me. Another repeatedly insisted that we weren't getting water, despite my explanations to the contrary, and he was ultimately proven wrong. Fortunately, the technician we're dealing with currently is nice, but overall, the process has been very frustrating.
In terms of customer service, my interactions haven't been very satisfying. Moreover, the amount I pay for the policy doesn't seem worth it given how often I have had someone out to look at my dishwasher. However, I do regularly use American Home Shield’s online tool to book my appointments and I would rate it a 4 out of 5. Overall, my experience has been less than ideal, contributing to my low overall rating of 2 out of 5 for American Home Shield.

They took ten days to procure and install the faucets, which was a frustrating delay. There was a leak under my kitchen sink and when I submitted the claim online, American Home Shield’s website was very user-friendly. Before the contractors arrived, I was informed about their identification and uniform, and they provided a 6-hour time window, arriving by the 4th hour. They were very professional and completed the job efficiently. Since then, everything has been functioning perfectly.
I would definitely rate my experience a 5, and recommend American Home Shield to friends. I've had their service for a little over a year, recommended by friends. I like how quick and easy it is to use their service, and it's always been reputable when I've needed it. I often tell neighbors and family members that if they're not handy or don’t have the ability to handle appliance or electrical repairs themselves, they should consider American Home Shield for home protection.

I had a furnace that was not producing any air and Foxcroft HVAC came out to address it. The technician identified a valve and switch that needed replacement. He was professional and thorough, providing a temporary fix by cleaning some soot off the internal parts, which highlighted the corrosion problem.
Communication with American Home Shield was a bit challenging, as I felt it was difficult to convey the urgency of the situation. Although the technician was excellent and arrived promptly, I was disappointed to learn that the issue was not fully covered and that I needed to pay more for a proper fix. This happened while I was on a business trip, so details were a bit fuzzy, but the amount was significant.
Overall, the claim process took about five days initially, which was reasonable. The technician's professionalism was impressive, and he was one of the best HVAC specialists I've encountered. However, the overall experience with American Home Shield was mixed. I would rate this specific instance a 3 out of 5, mainly due to the communication difficulties and the lack of coverage for the complete repair.
In general, I have had good experiences with American Home Shield, as my wife is an agent who often recommends them. Despite recommending their service, the difficulties faced during this claim slightly lowered my rating. I would give my overall experience a 4.
I intend to call American Home Shield to resolve the matter since my furnace still requires attention.

I filed a claim for a broken showerhead in the master bathroom, a malfunctioning jacuzzi faucet, and problems with the water heater. Unfortunately, American Home Shield did nothing to resolve these issues. The technician who came merely inspected the problems and stated everything was fine, even though the faucet handles had broken during regular use.
They claimed the issues were due to rough handling by the homeowner, thus not covered under their warranty, which I find nonsensical. We have used those faucets for a long time without incident, and suddenly they break and are blamed on our usage.
Moreover, both bathrooms have issues with the hot water; it often goes cold mid-shower, which lasts from 20 seconds to a minute. But according to them, everything is supposedly fine, which is frustrating because the problem persists.
I've been with American Home Shield for about a year in Texas and had used their services for numerous years in California at another home. Despite being a long-time customer, the service has been unsatisfactory. Based on this recent experience, I would rate them a 2 out of 5.

My washing machine was making a grinding, squealing, and clicking noise. I reached out to American Home Shield and they sent a technician from Sears, who was very nice and had all the parts needed to fix the washer. However, AHS instructed him not to repair it because, according to them, the appliance must completely break down before they take any action. This was confusing and frustrating as I thought I was being proactive by attempting to address the issue before it worsened.
When I inquired further, American Home Shield informed me that my coverage does not include repairs, only replacements, and they would not take any steps until the machine completely broke down. I was disappointed as I felt the situation was not handled with customer satisfaction in mind, and I even requested my $100 back, which they refused.
Apart from this incident, I also had a previous experience where a technician was sent to perform a furnace tune-up. However, the person merely looked at it without doing any actual maintenance. Unfortunately, I've not had any positive interactions with American Home Shield so far.
Despite the lackluster service, I used their online service to set up requests, which I found relatively easy to navigate, hence I would rate it a 4 out of 5 for its layout and usability. However, overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield a 2 out of 5. In the future, it would be helpful if they had contacted me after I described the issue via email, as it might have saved me from unnecessary expenses and misunderstanding.

For the past two and a half years, Four Seasons HVAC has been trying to fix my unit, and yet the problem persists. Every time they attempt a repair, nothing seems to solve the issue. They've been replacing the same parts repeatedly, and I've been left with a HVAC system that turns into a solid ball of ice during the winter. I don't use the air conditioner much during the summer, so I'm unsure if the problem occurs then as well. The frustrating part is that Four Seasons recommended replacing the system last year, but that suggestion was denied. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about 6 or 7 years now, and I find myself mostly satisfied but this ongoing HVAC issue has been quite aggravating. Considering everything, I would rate my experience as neutral, around a 3 out of 5.

I've been using American Home Shield for about 15 years, covering four properties. Unfortunately, my experiences with them have been increasingly poor. Initially, it was straightforward to schedule seasonal maintenance like AC tune-ups. However, managing claims and getting repairs done has become a time-consuming ordeal.
For example, my dryer claim took ten months, requiring 17 appointments and over 40 phone calls. I ended up spending around $1,400, including unnecessary costs for vent cleaning, which wasn’t the issue. As a realtor, it's tough to recommend them now because I can't endorse a service that requires so much of my involvement and delivers poor results.
Their contractors often misdiagnose issues, causing unnecessary delays and expenses. One AC issue had my house over 104 degrees, with no immediate solution from them. I even had to purchase one myself due to long back orders. Customer service is pleasant but ineffective, primarily following a script without providing real solutions or proper follow-ups on notes from previous calls.
AHS only cares about what the tech says. I had it on the Ring doorbell one tech as he entered and left within less than a minute. Nobody cared and AHS wanted to go by the diagnosis that the tech gave, that the dryer vents needed to be cleaned. So I had to pay somebody $150 to do that and then show AHS that this was not the problem and I want my $150 back. But there’s no 150 back.
Unfortunately, it's hard to find value in this service anymore compared to just directly replacing broken appliances. I would tell friends that unless they lack the funds to cover replacements themselves, they might want to steer clear of such warranties. It feels like American Home Shield complicates rather than solves problems lately, and I'm actively searching for a more reliable alternative.

My washer issue took an absurdly long time to resolve, nearly 10 weeks. American Home Shield refused to cover the full value, only offering to pay for parts and labor. As a single mom, this delay forced me to use a laundromat, without reimbursement for my added expenses. They claimed the delay was due to a shortage of parts, which seemed unreasonable given that I was paying for a warranty to avoid such inconveniences. I felt bad for the technician who came out and fixed it. He had to take the whole thing apart because American Warranty wouldn't wanna pay out. But he had a good sense of humor in the situation that he was put in.
Submitting claims was another ordeal. I found myself calling a 1-800 number, speaking to representatives who were often hard to understand, and waiting 24 to 48 hours just to reach a supervisor. This made contacting them during my work hours incredibly difficult.
When my garage door stopped working, the contractor from Flash Garage Services that was sent was polite, yet unable to resolve the issue since the problem wasn't apparent at the time of their visit. I was told they could only help if the issue persisted during their 24-48 hour response time, which was unhelpful as the problem seemed intermittent.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was dissatisfying. The company seemed more interested in providing the runaround than resolving issues quickly. I felt they should better understand the consumer's perspective, as the warranty process added more stress during already difficult times.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend American Home Shield based on my experiences. The customer service was poor, and I felt the coverage and price were not worth the hassle. I even advised friends against using it, as replacing my washer seemed more efficient than dealing with the warranty process.

My dryer was making a horrible noise, which I suspected was due to the pulley, and it turned out to be true. The technician who came replaced the pulley efficiently. He also addressed an issue with my washing machine. It seemed the door wasn’t locking properly, which was affecting its operation. He worked on it, going all the way to the circuit board, and resolved the issue.
I submitted my claim through their online app, and I found the process to be very easy. The contractor sent by American Home Shield was excellent. He was cooperative, respectful of my property, and even alerted me to ensure my cat was safe while he was working with tools and opened areas of the dryer. A highlight of the visit was when he helped me clean lint and dust that was usually unreachable, thus making the appliance safer and more efficient.
Post-repair, both machines are working well. Although there’s a minor issue with the washing machine where I occasionally hear a high-pitched noise at the start of a cycle, it hasn't affected the machine's functionality. Additionally, there’s a small quirk with the control panel showing a one-second countdown at the end of the cycle, but it’s not a major concern.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been great. They were quick to respond, scheduled the appointment at my convenience, and the technician was well-prepared, bringing all necessary parts with him, which saved time. This level of service demonstrated genuine respect for my time.
In summary, I found American Home Shield's service to be timely, reliable, and professional, and I would recommend them. They’ve proven to offer value for money, especially when considering the cost of independent repairs.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim that involved Sears as the contractor. I initially filed a claim for my dishwasher and dryer. For the dishwasher, Sears never arrived to complete the job. When it came to the dryer, Sears assessed the issue, ordered parts, but never returned to finish the repair. I ended up hiring someone else to install the parts, which unfortunately did not solve the problem.
I informed American Home Shield about the situation with Sears not showing up, particularly with the dryer claim. They seemed aware of Sears' delays but didn't take further action to resolve the issue. Sears rescheduled with me multiple times, around 10 to 15 times, but still never appeared.
Despite these issues, I don't hold American Home Shield entirely responsible; my dissatisfaction is primarily with Sears. I've been using American Home Shield for about a year because I needed a home warranty, and although their service hasn't met my expectations, I believe the problems were largely due to the contractor, Sears. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been exhausting, mainly due to the contractor's failures.

I bought a house with two water heaters on separate circuit panels, something I wasn't initially aware of. After discovering one wasn't working, I filed a claim for a water heater. The technician claimed it was damaged and estimated high repair costs, saying it was an existing condition. American Home Shield tried to charge me $1850 for a new water heater, which I declined. Eventually, an electrician I hired discovered an overlooked circuit panel, and flipping the breaker solved the issue.
American Home Shield seems efficient in customer relations as long as they don’t have to pay for anything substantial. My experience submitting the claim was straightforward; I went online, paid the service fee, and they sent someone out. However, the contractor they sent was less than satisfactory. They misdiagnosed the problem and overcharged for a water heater, which I later learned wasn't necessary. After some research, I found poor reviews about the same contractor, which reinforced my skepticism.
Overall, my interactions with American Home Shield were frustrating. I feel they fall short in providing the actual service they promise. It's easier and potentially more cost-effective to handle such issues independently. I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience, and if I had to give a rating, it would be at the lowest possible. They've done a commendable job ensuring communication is smooth, but when it comes to resolving issues, the experience was far from satisfactory.

I called American Home Shield to report an issue with my exhaust fan in one of my bathrooms; the light was functioning, but the motor wouldn't start. When I submitted the claim, I also mentioned that the second exhaust fan was making noise and might go out soon. However, the technician informed me that it had to be completely non-functional before they could work on it, even though I was assured both would be covered.
The technician used a tool to check the motor and verified it was not working, so he ordered a new motor for replacement. Despite submitting the claim on February 2nd, the repair was completed only by the end of February. In terms of workmanship, the technician was excellent—friendly, approachable, and apologetic—yet it took a month to wrap up what was essentially a five-minute job. I received multiple messages stating the work would be done, only for nothing to happen on the promised days. Due to this delay, I'd rate the experience a 4 out of 5.
I've been with American Home Shield for about six years, mainly for the peace of mind it offers—it eliminates the worry of finding a reputable service provider or being overcharged. However, there are drawbacks: a minimum 72-hour wait before someone comes to assess the issue and rising service fees, now at $120. These could potentially make me reconsider when it's time to renew. Without these issues, I'd recommend them for providing solid service, albeit with some patience needed.
If asked, I'd tell friends and family that while American Home Shield offers good protection, you must be ready for potential delays and higher costs over time. Customer service is a 4, but the price is a 2.
Sincerely,
Mariah

We filed a claim when we didn't have any hot water. We were originally told that American Home Shield only had a couple of vendors or contractors. So we were told it was gonna be the following week before someone could even go out and diagnose. We told them, "We're a family without hot water in the middle of winter. That's probably not gonna work." So, they tried to find someone else. We actually made contact with the vendor ourselves and requested, "Pretty please, will you please come out and go ahead and get this started before the weekend." Then they came out and diagnosed it. They said, "Yeah, yeah, you need a new hot water heater. We're gonna put it in through American Home Shield."
The vendor told us that American Home Shield ordered the hot water heater. American Home Shield told us that the contractor ordered the hot water heater. I don't know who ordered it. But about day nine, we still didn't have hot water. The contractor was supposed to come out and make the repair, and called us that morning and said, "The hot water heater just came in. And American Home Shield ordered the type that goes in your garage, the tall, thin one."
They also told us, "Y'all need the short, fat one that goes in the crawl space. So we're gonna have to order another one through American Home Shield." Which again, that was about day 9 or 10 without hot water in the winter. And so we said that was unacceptable, that we needed them to come. And I've talked to the contractor. I said, "Surely, you as a plumber can get your hands on a hot water heater." He said, "Well, yeah. I can, but that's not through American Home Shield." I told them, "We're desperate. We gotta have hot water in our home. I've got two daughters and my wife. We hadn't had a shower at home in 10 days. Yeah, we need hot water." So, we asked him to get one. He was able to get his hands on one and get it repaired that day.
We had been without hot water for about 10 days and American Home Shield said the best they could do on the cash in lieu was $300. So I denied that and said, "No, no, no. That's not good enough. I'm not accepting that." I kept calling back and one person told us, "Well, I can give you your service charge back and give you a little bit off your next month bill." I said, "No, that's not needed. I don't think we're gonna keep American Home Shield after the way we were treated." So at that time, I had turned down the cash in lieu, and there was nothing that the rep could do. We were just stuck because we chose to go our own way with the contractor.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and the supervisor called me a day or two later and said the same thing. Then I hung up the phone and waited till the next week to call back and ask them to do another cash in lieu. At that time, it was a little bit more so I took it. I did ask for the service fee back but they said, "No, we can't give you the service fee back because the contractor actually went out there." So my intent is to cancel American Home Shield before the next payment is due.
We've had issues before with the timeliness and not being able to get a contractor out there with regard to heating and air claims. It seems that they don't have enough contractors in our area that are willing to do business with them. So much so that the plumber told me that he was probably gonna end his relationship with American Home Shield as well. I would recommend my friends not to use American Home Shield.

I had J&S All Tech come out for a second opinion on my furnace. They didn't replace it but repaired a part the same day, which was efficient. I initially contacted American Home Shield by phone to raise the issue, and while I did end up making multiple calls, they managed to schedule the service.
My experience with American Home Shield's customer service varied. Although not particularly patient when there was a communication gap, they eventually resolved most issues. Unfortunately, I initially started with Rush Heating and Cooling, which was unsatisfactory. They recommended a full replacement, prompting me to seek a second opinion from J&S. Even after their intervention, my furnace only worked intermittently. Eventually, I had my own HVAC technician replace a part that neither J&S nor Rush addressed, and it has been functioning well since then.
Considering my experience, I might consider cashing out on the furnace and potentially discontinuing with the service. My experience with American Home Shield is mixed; for non-HVAC issues, their service has been satisfactory, but the HVAC resolution has been less so.
Despite the experience, I'd rate American Home Shield customer service a 4 out of 5 for general interactions. However, a recent $50 per month price increase detracts from their overall value, dropping my satisfaction with pricing from a 4 to a 1. Overall, I'm not completely dissatisfied, but improvements can be made, especially around the HVAC service.

I filed a claim and ADA Repair came out. But I'm still waiting for them to complete the repair. The first technician who came out couldn't identify the problem and ended up causing more issues by falsely claiming my circuit was open. As someone who works in the trades and understands these systems, I found this frustrating. Long story short, he didn't know what he was doing. He was trying to blame the electrician or the electricity and there wasn't any. I took pictures of the meter. After some back and forth, American Home Shield finally sent a second technician who was able to diagnose the problem—a faulty tumbler and circuit board in the dryer. However, it's been nearly a month, and I still don't have a working dryer.
This wasn't my first experience with American Home Shield. I've had them for a while, and I've made two claims in total. Both experiences have been negative. For instance, when a plumber came to fix a clog, he only used a plunger and didn't fully address the issue, leaving me to resolve it myself.

Eventually, Haywood Handyman came out and completed the drywall repair promptly.
Submitting a claim was straightforward. I called their number and explained the issue, after which they assigned a contractor to the job. If there was an issue, I could call back or arrange a new contractor contact within 24 hours. Getting through to an actual person during the call has generally been easy, sometimes taking a few minutes or requiring a callback, but never problematic.

At first, they thought a quick fix was sufficient, but the problem persisted. The technician spent a couple of hours troubleshooting and eventually had to replace a more expensive part. Although I'm not well-versed in air conditioning systems, I appreciated his dedication to fixing the issue, especially since it was cold and we had an infant in the home.
Submitting the claim through their online system was easy, and the contractor was professional throughout the process. What stands out about American Home Shield is their responsiveness, although the speed of service can vary. The fixed pricing per repair helps me manage costs, and I only call them for issues expected to exceed this amount.
While I'm generally satisfied and have renewed my service annually for both my beach house and current home, there was one frustrating incident. I once needed a new air conditioner for my condo, and they initially refused to replace it, claiming it was an unauthorized repair. Eventually, after considering canceling my contract, they agreed to replace it. This incident felt a bit unprofessional and highlighted an area where American Home Shield can improve.
I would recommend American Home Shield due to their reactive nature, reasonable costs, and good quality technicians. However, contractors seem to be underpaid, which might affect service quality in some cases. In terms of customer service, I'd rate them a 4 out of 5, and overall coverage a 5 out of 5 based on my experience. Pricing and online tools also earn high marks from me. In summary, my experience so far has been great.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim I submitted for my hot water heater. The problem was that it kept shutting off, which limited us to only one shower before it had issues again. The service involved replacing the heating element and some related electronics, and it seemed to function properly, although it did switch off a few times afterward. I planned a follow-up appointment, but I decided to wait until returning from a vacation to see if the problem persisted.
Submitting the claim online was straightforward, and while the website was easy to navigate, I did encounter some issues. The main challenge is the distance, as the vendor is located in Tyler, Texas, and I reside 30 miles north, resulting in a 45-minute journey. This geographic distance means I typically have to wait around 3 to 4 days for service.
As for the contractors themselves, they were fantastic in terms of professionalism and knowledge, and I felt they did a great job. While I appreciate the peace of mind the service offers, knowing there's someone to call when problems arise, there are areas for improvement. Specifically, when my air conditioner malfunctioned during the summer, it took about 10 days and multiple visits to resolve the issue. In situations without hot water or air conditioning, waiting 3 to 4 days feels quite lengthy.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield while trying to resolve an HVAC issue through Island Breeze and an electrician. Initially, Island Breeze came out to diagnose and replace a TXV valve, but they identified an issue with the wiring, which was not the right gauge, making it unsafe to proceed. They communicated this effectively to American Home Shield, who then redirected the ticket to an electrician at Modern Mechanical.
However, the electrician from Modern Mechanical assured me the wiring was fine, despite my frequent tripping breakers during the summer. His solution seemed manipulative, as he suggested bypassing the problem to gain more service, which made me uncomfortable. This led me to reach out to a friend in construction, confirming that the wiring was indeed inadequate.
I called American Home Shield multiple times over the week, facing inconsistent information and unsatisfactory responses. They refused to send another electrician despite the conflicting evaluations and eventually reassigned the task back to Island Breeze. I ended up hiring my own electrician, who verified the problem and upgraded the wiring, something that should have been addressed by American Home Shield in 2018.
I spent countless hours on the phone with their service team to little avail, only receiving a promise to refund half of my service fee after considerable frustration. Despite hiring my own electrician, Island Breeze remained supportive and agreed to proceed with the HVAC part replacement once my electrical work was finalized.
For Island Breeze, I would give 5 stars for their diligence and support, but for American Home Shield, this experience was extremely frustrating, with poor communication and unsatisfactory solutions. The whole ordeal was an exasperating process that ultimately required out-of-pocket expenses and significant effort to resolve.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when our heating system failed on an extremely cold day. We woke up to find that our heat wouldn't turn on, and after checking things like the fuse, I decided to contact American Home Shield for help. They sent out US Comfort Solutions, who discovered that the motherboard had been fried and needed replacement.
I submitted my claim electronically through my account on their website. While overall user-friendly, it was a little tricky to find the exact category for the HVAC issue, but I managed. The contractor from US Comfort Solutions was very professional and knowledgeable, having known my father-in-law, a builder, personally. He kept us informed throughout the waiting process for the part, which was delayed due to weather conditions.
Since the repair, everything has been functioning perfectly, providing us peace of mind. I appreciate how easy it is to use their service. It's not a complicated process to get a contractor, and they respond quickly to resolve issues. I've had positive experiences each time we've used American Home Shield and would recommend them, especially for older homes like ours. Overall, having their protection has been a beneficial investment.

The washer wasn't draining, so I contacted American Home Shield. The company sent out A/C Pros Kingman to diagnose the issue. After their first visit, I had to wait another week for a part, a temperature sensor, to arrive and be installed. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the problem. Another round of waiting ensued for a pump replacement. This entire process stretched over almost two months due to repeated week-long waits between visits. Although the pump was eventually replaced, my washer has started rusting due to delays, causing concern about its longevity. I suspect the rust contributed to the initial blockage.
While I appreciate that American Home Shield answers their calls promptly and has been responsive over my long tenure with them (more than 12 years), the extended delays in resolving claims due to vendor processes can be frustrating. I've only needed to use their services a couple of times because I usually handle repairs myself, but this experience showed me the need for improvements in their claim processing timelines. Despite these issues, I would still rate American Home Shield highly for their responsiveness and would recommend them.

I had a service call with American Home Shield for a downdraft unit in my kitchen, and the process is still ongoing as the unit needs to be replaced. Sneed Electrical and Appliance Service, who came out previously for other issues, have been reputable and reliable in my experience. However, the most recent technician who came was not knowledgeable and quite frankly, useless. I would not use that particular company again. Despite this, I have generally had a good experience with American Home Shield over the years, and their service is usually excellent.

I’ve had a long involvement with American Home Shield regarding recurring issues with our very old refrigerator. Over the years, we've repeatedly called for repairs due to leaking, icing, and even a broken shelf. These problems re-emerge periodically, and this time around, the leaking was slightly improved by replacing a drain hose, but it didn’t resolve fully, and ice continued to build up. We were also waiting on a replacement shelf which was delayed. Eventually, I opted for a small cash settlement from American Home Shield, which allowed us to proceed with purchasing a new refrigerator.
Throughout these repair endeavors, the service was OK given that the refrigerator is 26 years old; however, the whole process was prolonged. We've decided it’s time to move on from this refrigerator. The appliance repair service from American Home Shield seemed competent, but dealing with multiple technicians over these repeated service calls was cumbersome.

The washing machine valve was dripping water when it was open and I submitted a claim via phone to American Home Shield. Although the interaction with the service representative was good, I was not provided with any information about the contractor before they arrived at my property.
When the contractor from Pro Service HVAC and Plumbing LLC arrived, they performed the repair efficiently by replacing the valve, and the entire service call took about five minutes. Following the repair, the system has been functioning excellently. However, my dissatisfaction arose from the five-day delay in getting someone to come out and address the issue, which led me to question what would happen in the case of an emergency.
I've had the service for about five months, initially getting it because I experienced a flood in my basement and thought it would be prudent to have coverage. While the actual repair service was satisfactory, I found that what is covered under the policy and what one might assume is covered, can differ significantly. Additionally, the necessity of paying a substantial service fee on top of the usual charges was an unwelcome surprise.
In summary, while the customer service interactions were fine, and the contractor was effective, the service’s response time and unexpected costs have left me very dissatisfied overall. I would not recommend this to friends or family due to these reasons.

I have been with American Home Shield since I owned my home and while I've been generally satisfied with their service, the rising costs have me reconsidering my coverage. Initially, when I had a problem with my washing machine leaking, I called and spoke to a live agent for assistance. They assigned NextGen Appliances to handle the repair, and the process was relatively straightforward, though it did seem easier in the past compared to now.
In the past, I had an issue with my oven where the assigned repair company said the entire appliance needed replacement. After multiple service visits and much frustration, a second company came out and solved the problem, which was merely a faulty wire. This repairman was exceptional and resolved a long-standing issue efficiently, something that I appreciated immensely.
I have remained with American Home Shield partly because I've enjoyed the sense of security it provides, knowing that I have coverage if something breaks. However, the premiums have become almost as costly as a car payment, and I've started to question the value of continuing the service, especially since I typically only use it a couple of times a year.
The customer service has always been top-notch for me, warranting a high rating. However, if I could change one thing, it would certainly be the pricing. I'd rate the service highly, but the cost quite low. My decision to keep the coverage is increasingly difficult, and my husband and I are contemplating alternative options, like setting aside the equivalent amount into a savings account for repairs. Nevertheless, the reluctance to cut the cord comes from the reliability and support I have experienced with the service despite the costs.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about 3-4 years, and my experience has been quite mixed. My most recent claim involved a garbage disposal leak that needed replacement. The process was frustrating as it took over 30 days to resolve, primarily due to the need to reschedule with different technicians and delays in getting someone assigned, even though it seemed like a simple fix. I ended up washing dishes outside for nearly a month due to the delays.
I initiated my service request online, and while the website was easy to navigate, the overall process lacked efficiency and prompt communication. When they finally managed to fix it, the solution was only moderate. It's still not entirely how I want it, but at least it’s functional.
Given my experiences, if a friend were to ask, I would say there are both positives and negatives with American Home Shield. It protects against unexpected expenses, but the service speed can be frustratingly slow. This makes you question the value of having a warranty when you could potentially hire someone privately and get faster results. Overall, while you won’t have to pay out of pocket for immediate issues, the wait time can be problematic.
I rated them 2 out of 5 as my overall experience wasn't satisfactory. Their customer service varied; one interaction was good while others were mediocre, so I rated that aspect a 3. For the price, it didn't feel worth it, earning a rating of 1. The website itself was quite user-friendly, so I rated it a 4, but I believe improvements to its layout could enhance the experience further.

I had a claim experience with American Home Shield regarding a persistent drip in my kitchen sink. Initially, H&K Plumbing came out, but the problem wasn't present during their visit, so they couldn't fix it. This happened three times. After videotaping the drip when it was occurring, the contractors acknowledged it was dripping every 15 seconds, but since it didn’t drip during their visit, they were unable to resolve it. This was immensely frustrating because despite multiple visits, the issue remained unresolved.
I got American Home Shield upon my sister's recommendation, although I can't recall exactly how long ago. Previously, they replaced a microwave for me. However, when a subsequent issue arose with the replacement, they required another $100 fee to inspect it, which felt unfair considering it was a recent installation. These experiences have been disappointing, particularly since I expected more thorough service for the fees paid.

I had a truly disappointing experience with American Home Shield, which led me to cancel my subscription. I live in a remote area and needed service for my malfunctioning heat pumps. When I reached out to American Home Shield, they couldn't provide a technician from their network due to location issues. I then found a local supplier, but they refused to work with American Home Shield. After a month and a half of frustrating attempts to get help, I managed to speak with the company's president. Eventually, they sent someone from their network who still confirmed the need for new units. However, a second opinion from another technician denied the claim, and the situation worsened, leaving me with one non-functional unit.
The overall process spanned over three months, and in the end, the problem was not resolved. I even had to invest time contacting another company for further breakdowns, which didn't lead to any solution. Additionally, American Home Shield mistakenly sent $3,500 to a local company I didn't wish to work with, effectively wasting the funds.
In essence, American Home Shield failed to deliver on their promise, even after their corporate involvement. This experience has left me with a system that still doesn't work properly. The whole ordeal was frustrating and exhausting, having dealt with their network technician's lack of proper resolution. Their inefficiency and poor service were evident, and I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone.

I have been a customer with American Home Shield for about two years now. My recent experience with them was far from satisfactory. I had an electrical issue with some downed outlets and lines in my house and called on them for help. The process to reach a representative was somewhat easy, and I made an appointment without much hassle.
Unfortunately, the contractor they sent, Compound Electric Corporation, did not meet my expectations. The contractor didn't seem knowledgeable about electrical issues and ultimately failed to resolve the problem. They just assessed the situation, took some pictures, and sent out a report without rectifying the issue. The report stated there were wiring irregularities, but neither the contractor nor American Home Shield took further action to assist.
While I appreciate the occasions when the service does cover issues, the inconsistent quality of contractors and lack of transparency in servicing are significant drawbacks. The servicing needs improvement, and I feel they should ensure the contractors they send are experts who actually know what to look for and how to solve issues.

I've been using American Home Shield for a while now and have had several service calls, particularly for my dishwasher. Overall, my experiences have been positive. They are always willing to work with me and if there's ever an issue I can't resolve, I feel comfortable reaching out to management to appeal or discuss it further. At no point have I felt the need to cancel my service with them.
Submitting claims online with American Home Shield is straightforward. You log into your account, specify the property and issue, whether it's electrical, plumbing, or otherwise, and submit the claim. Once submitted, I receive a text confirming receipt and usually within minutes, a contractor is assigned. I've interacted with their contractors several times, and so far, so good — I've never had a problem with them.
Regarding my dishwasher, the repair process took longer than expected. I initially assumed the delivery and installation would be handled in one go by the same team. However, during delivery, the installer discovered a hot water pressure issue which needed fixing before they could install the dishwasher. This caused some delays as another service call was needed to address this issue. Compared to other services like Sears, which usually resolves appliance repairs faster within a few days, this was less efficient. American Home Shield offered alternatives, but given the wait already endured, I chose to stick with the original plan.

My main issue was that several rooms in my house were not getting any heat. When I filed the claim, I spoke directly with a representative, and aside from a language barrier, they were helpful in processing my request. The service contractor sent by American Home Shield was Joe Cools Cooling and Heating. While the interaction with them was comfortable, they couldn't resolve the issue. It wasn't a mechanical problem but rather an airflow imbalance that required a part not covered by my warranty.
I've had to call AHS out three times, and only once was the issue resolved to my satisfaction, so I'd rate them a three out of five overall. American Home Shield was included with my home purchase, and I decided to renew it for another year. I've used them in the past while living in Georgia without any major issues, except for the communication difficulties due to outsourcing.
Choosing American Home Shield is a personal decision. They send technicians promptly to assess issues, but better contracts cost more.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for about 22 years. Recently, they helped me with a major leak issue in my dishwasher. Initial attempts by a plumber indicated the problem was with the dishwasher itself, so I contacted American Home Shield. They promptly sent an Asset appliance technician, who identified the issue and repaired it efficiently. They also discovered additional problems with the sprayer and pump, all of which were fixed under the original service call. The service from Asset was exceptional, and everything was covered as promised.
However, my experience with another property in Kentucky was not as positive. After experiencing issues there, it took 7 months to receive payment from American Home Shield. The process was slow and frustrating, as they repeatedly delayed reimbursement and gave excuses. At one point, they claimed to have sent a check which never arrived, and it took threats to file a complaint with the Kentucky Insurance Commission before receiving the payment. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for our washing machine, which started leaking water. While the initial process was straightforward, involving a scheduled appointment after placing the claim, the costs were frustrating. We pay around $102 monthly for the plan, and on top of that, an additional $100 was required when making a claim.
The technician from Assistant Plumbing Company diagnosed the issue but couldn't repair it, stating they don't handle that specific problem. As a result, we ended up purchasing the part ourselves and fixed it. I reached out to American Home Shield again to see about reimbursement, but I'm still waiting for their response. This experience leads me to believe the real issue might be with some of the service providers they partner with rather than with American Home Shield directly.
Over the years, I've noticed the cost for coverage has significantly increased. In 2017, we paid $58 per month, but it's been climbing ever since. Although their customer service was excellent, the pricing is steep. I'm considering exploring other options, possibly through the VA, but we haven't settled on anything yet.
Overall, while I've had good experiences in the past and their staff handles service calls well, the combination of rising costs and this recent claim has left me unsatisfied.

I recently had MD Heating and Air come out for a furnace check-up on behalf of American Home Shield. It was a preventative maintenance situation, and they did a decent job checking the HVAC system. However, I haven't had to use American Home Shield for any warranty claims yet, so I'm uncertain how they would handle that. I've heard they might replace with generic items, which gives me pause about the actual value they offer.
The service costs me about $65 a month. After a few years, I started wondering if the warranty plan is worth it compared to self-funding replacements. For instance, if I owned something like a $3,000 refrigerator, I'm unsure if they'd replace it with a similar model. Over time, the cost adds up, and I've considered that self-funding might be more strategic. Their pricing seems to increase, which I'm not thrilled about. Overall, the service is okay. They are proactive about sending emails and reminders for maintenance, but I'm still on the fence about whether it's the best value.

I have been with American Home Shield for almost two years. Recently, I called them because my spa and pool lights were tripping my GFI breaker and weren't turning on. ABNation came out and tested the issue, determining that one of the LED pool lights was out. Unfortunately, I was informed that my service plan with American Home Shield didn't cover pool lights, which was a disappointment. Though they did provide a $125 credit for the service cost, it didn't address the larger issue for me.
I've had to call them for services three times. The first time, it was a good experience, as they quickly fixed my filter housing leakage issue. However, the second time, my pool heater stopped working without explanation, and when they came out, it started working again without any intervention. I felt like I wasted money on that call. This recent experience with the pool lights left me dissatisfied, and now I'm considering shopping around for another warranty service that better covers my needs. I've reached out to American Home Shield mostly online, as contacting their customer service by phone feels daunting. Their online service request process is functional, but I find the selections limited and not reflective of coverage issues — like my electrical problems not being covered for pool equipment even though it's an option listed.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about 15 years, primarily because they have handled most issues well. Recently, however, we had a frustrating experience with the air conditioning system. Their technicians identified a problem but said it wasn’t severe enough to warrant immediate repair. This was concerning because the AC unit makes an extremely loud noise whenever it turns on and off, enough to disturb us and our neighbors. Despite several complaints and a technician noting that it needed attention, no action was taken to address it.
In terms of submitting claims, my wife typically handles this, and it often involves inconvenient scheduling. The technicians arrive late within a broad time window, sometimes causing us to miss an entire day of work, only to resolve things last minute. The customer service from individuals who come to our home has always been commendable. Once, an AC technician even went above and beyond by refilling Freon free of charge during a financially tight period, which was appreciated.
Overall, I feel American Home Shield provides essential services but does the bare minimum when it comes to repairs, especially considering we pay significant premiums for coverage. There is a sense that they only fix absolute necessities without ensuring the system works optimally. We might continue using them until we find a more satisfactory alternative.

I reached out to American Home Shield for a moisture issue in my home but had an unsatisfactory experience with their contractor, Hers and His Plumbing. The contractor arrived nearly two hours early, interrupting my schedule. He immediately assumed the water pressure was too high without inspecting the areas I reported — the toilet, shower, and water heater. His conclusion was solely based on external observation. He didn't even enter the bathroom but quoted me a cost between $800 and $1200 for repairs, which felt rushed and unprofessional. I requested a detailed written estimate, but he spent around 30 minutes outside on the phone, ignoring my follow-up inquiries. When he finally addressed me, he mentioned the work wasn’t covered but vaguely stated they’d handle the valve. Ultimately, he refused to provide a written estimate, laughed at my concerns, and left without assisting me further.
I then reached out to American Home Shield to express my dissatisfaction. They were responsive, allowing me to get a second opinion from a different contractor who provided a thorough evaluation. I appreciate American Home Shield's prompt response and willingness to resolve the issue efficiently by blocking Hers and His Plumbing from future visits to my property.
Although I experienced some hiccups initially, American Home Shield has consistently addressed any concerns I've had since 2022. They resolve issues effectively when notified and escalate them correctly. Despite using third-party contractors, their customer service ensures problem resolution. Given this, I would rate American Home Shield highly for their service and customer care, acknowledging their fair pricing and willingness to rectify issues, typically getting them right even after initial challenges.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield. I encountered a problem with slow-draining sinks, which indicated a clogged main line. When United Air Temp came out to address the issue, the technician confirmed the need for a snake cleaning. However, my home doesn’t have a clean out, and according to the American Home Shield contract, they only cover services through a clean out, meaning I had to pull the toilet myself. After spending an hour on the phone with their customer service, they agreed to arrange for a company to come back after I pulled the toilet. But I couldn't wait multiple days without functioning plumbing, so I cancelled my American Home Shield service, which I then had to pay to do also.
I initially chose this service for its coverage on septic pump outs, electronics, and mishaps like power surges. The idea of paying $50 a month seemed worth it for peace of mind, but it failed when I needed it. The initial customer service overseas was difficult, lacking understanding and clarity. However, the representative in the cancellation department was nice, which was a small positive in an overall negative experience.
Price-wise, I wouldn't recommend it as I ended up paying for a service I couldn't utilize. I also found the online tool to be ineffective, as I had to handle everything over the phone. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with my experience with American Home Shield.
Dear Peter,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is important to us, it will help us ensure a better experience next time.

I have been using American Home Shield for about five years, and unfortunately, my recent experience with them has been quite challenging. We encountered issues with our water heater, and the process of getting it serviced was frustrating. Initially, we had trouble getting the contractor to show up on time. The communication was sporadic and unreliable, with unanswered calls and messages. I found myself constantly following up without much success or timely responses. Even when appointments were set, there was a lack of clear confirmation, which left me feeling uncertain about the service schedule.
The support from American Home Shield’s customer service was not very helpful either. It felt as if there was an attempt to brush off my concerns rather than genuinely resolve them. The language barrier made communication difficult at times, and it didn’t seem like there was a strong effort to empathize or fully understand my situation. This lack of effective communication added to the stress, especially given the urgency of the situation—it was winter, and I have children, which made it critical to have a working water heater.
Additionally, I faced difficulty with American Home Shield's policy, which didn't allow for a change in contractor, even when the service was unsatisfactory. It seemed like the policy was more about maintaining a contract than addressing customer dissatisfaction. While the repair eventually got done, it left me reconsidering whether I should continue with American Home Shield once my contract is up. The combination of unresponsive contractors and inefficient customer support made what should have been a straightforward service quite burdensome.

Our water heater was not working properly and we put in a ticket on February 2nd. American Home Shield assigned Tom Melton Services to handle it. However, Tom Melton was supposed to set up an appointment but never showed up. After some back and forth, they reviewed a picture we sent and pointed out that the water heater was under warranty, telling us to contact the manufacturer. We did that and a new plumber was sent out, only to discover a leak from the plumbing which might have affected the water heater's insulation.
The process of following up with American Home Shield was frustrating. We had to repeatedly call and had to wait for Tom Melton to post an official diagnosis before American Home Shield could act. It took numerous calls and escalations, during which I was constantly assured Tom Melton had 24 hours to respond, which they repeatedly didn't comply with. Despite these assurances, it was a very unresponsive and tiring experience with customer service.
Eventually, they finally sent out another plumber who delivered a different diagnosis stating the necessary actions which were not as costly as Tom Melton had mentioned, which was $2000. This new plumber addressed the plumbing and vent issues on March 6th, over a month later, and now everything is functioning properly.
After dealing with endless follow-ups and miscommunications, we're planning to switch from American Home Shield as we found other options that offer similar coverage at more competitive prices. The customer service experience was below par; it felt like I was getting the runaround, and communication was weak. While the coverage seems fine, the overall process took a whole month. Overall, our American Home Shield experience was less than satisfactory.
Dear Bobbi,

We had an issue with our garbage disposal, and we initiated a claim with American Home Shield online. The process was very straightforward and it was easy to navigate the system.
Before Pronto Plumbing came out, the only information we initially had was their name, and they contacted us to schedule the service. The interaction with Pronto Plumbing was professional, and they were punctual. They quickly fixed the problem, which involved tightening a bolt underneath the garbage disposal. They also left us the tool they used in case the issue reoccurred.
We've been using American Home Shield for over a year now, initially provided by our realtor, after which we decided to renew because we found value in the service. It's very affordable, and we've never had a problem getting assistance when needed.
Overall, I would definitely rate the experience a 5 out of 5. The ease of getting someone to our home, the affordability, and the effectiveness of their service are what I appreciate most. At this point, I can't think of any improvements needed.
I would recommend American Home Shield to friends and family for the great coverage and customer service they've consistently provided.

We’ve had AHS coverage for years and generally not had a problem with small claims. However, we now have an ongoing problem with our dryer that technicians have been unable to repair and AHS refuses to replace. We’ve had a technician out to repair it 3 times and they’ve now re-ordered a part (with a multi-week wait time) that already hasn’t resolved the problem to attempt to try it again. We’ve had an open ticket and non-working dryer for almost SIX WEEKS, which we feel is unacceptable and really disappointing. American Home Shield has done nothing to try to make the situation right.
Dear Jessica,

I have a dishwasher that isn't functioning properly, and I've been struggling to get it fixed since December. Initially, a technician visited to address the issue but nothing was resolved. Recently, another technician said he'd ordered parts and would follow up, but I haven't received any updates, and the dishwasher remains unfixed. I'm also hesitant to tear up the floor for repairs because we're trying to sell our house. The stagnant water in the dishwasher smells and affects our kitchen and downstairs atmosphere.
I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years, having renewed my subscription once or twice. I was generally satisfied until this dishwasher problem. However, due to the ongoing issues and lack of resolution, I'm very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service. Despite reaching out multiple times for assistance, I've felt compelled to consider purchasing a new dishwasher myself. This has been a frustrating experience, and as of now, I would rate my satisfaction with American Home Shield as very dissatisfied.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been very disappointing. I have been a customer since 1985, and when I first signed up, they efficiently handled issues like replacing slow valve toilets without any extra charge. However, after a change in ownership—without any prior notice—they now charge $100 just to come out, and they no longer work on small valve toilets, which is strange since most plumbers do.
When I complained about this, I couldn't reach anyone helpful in their customer service team. I haven't been able to speak to anyone who could address my concerns. After my complaint, they sent me a new contract, but never communicated changes in ownership or policy. It's frustrating as I've paid them consistently over the years, yet they now don't provide the services they used to.
Additionally, the communication with their customer service is difficult as the representatives have a hard time speaking English. I have expressed my dissatisfaction to others for the past year. Given these experiences, I would rate their service, coverage, and cost as very poor.

I reached out to American Home Shield for assistance regarding my dishwasher that had stopped working. They were prompt in identifying a suitable installer, Dun-rite Appliance, who came to assess the situation. The technician quickly determined that the dishwasher couldn't be repaired and arranged for a replacement. The new dishwasher we received is comparable to our previous one, and so far, it's been functioning perfectly without any issues.
The customer service experience with American Home Shield was satisfactory. They managed to handle everything smoothly from identification to replacement. I'd rate my overall experience with them a 4 out of 5. In terms of customer service and quality, they also deserve a 4, though the cost aspect was somewhat less favorable, earning a 3 out of 5.
Overall, American Home Shield handled this issue well, and I am pleased with the outcome.

The experience with American Home Shield and the repair service they contracted, Express Appliances, was frustrating. My refrigerator stopped working because it wasn't cold enough and was stuck in defrost mode. I reached out to American Home Shield, as I've done both online and by phone before, preferring to speak to a person. The initial turnaround time to have a technician come out was acceptable due to my schedule constraints. However, the real problem began when the technicians ordered parts to fix the refrigerator, but within a month, it broke again because they hadn't identified all the issues.
American Home Shield informed me that further repairs would take weeks. I couldn't afford to go without a refrigerator for that long, which left me quite unhappy with their service. I've been with American Home Shield for years, and this isn't the first time I've encountered issues with them. In the past, they replaced a broken clothes dryer, but the replacement arrived broken, and they wouldn’t rectify the situation.
Overall, I feel that American Home Shield's service is inadequate. I would advise others to look for another company as I believe American Home Shield operates like a scam. While their customer service responsiveness was decent, the overall experience with the company is severely lacking. I do not recommend their services.

When I had plumbing issues, specifically a running toilet tank and a clogged sink, I submitted the claim over the phone and initially spoke with an American Home Shield claims agent. Unfortunately, the first interaction was frustrating as I experienced issues with communication, having to hang up due to background noise and lack of clarity from the agent. After calling back and connecting with another agent, I received excellent service which significantly improved my experience.
The service from American Home Shield's contractor, Patriot Plumbing, was outstanding. The contractor was very professional—he introduced himself, took off his shoes before entering, and clearly explained the repairs he made. He replaced a part of the toilet and provided helpful advice regarding the sink. Since then, everything has been functioning perfectly with no further issues.
I've had American Home Shield for about a year because their rates are reasonable and I appreciate the security they offer for home-related issues. The service is available 24/7 and I've always received a prompt response to any concerns. While my overall experience with the pricing and customer service was positive, there is a bit of inconsistency with initial communications that could be improved. Despite that, the effectiveness of the service and the quality of contractors used were commendable. I would definitely recommend both American Home Shield and Patriot Plumbing for their diligence and professional handling of my issues.

My washer broke in October 2024, and after contacting American Home Shield, a vendor was sent out to replace a control board. However, the issue persisted, and after 40 days, the washer broke again. When I tried to contact the vendor directly, I received no response. American Home Shield charged me $100 for a revisit, even though it was the same problem.
Afterward, a different vendor came to replace the same part, which didn't resolve the issue. It turned out that a second part needed replacing, requiring two people for the job. The assignment of vendors became a hassle, with vendors stating they weren't equipped for the task. Eventually, one vendor claimed they would order the parts, which took longer than promised, adding to my frustration.
Despite multiple communications with American Home Shield expressing my dissatisfaction, the process dragged on for 6 months. Out of that time, the washer only worked for 40 days. With three small children, this was a major inconvenience. I requested a refund for the service, but nothing has been resolved yet. The vendor interactions were subpar as well, with many technicians appearing inexperienced.
Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield's service and would rate them a 1. The customer service did respond, but I wasn’t receiving the assistance I needed, so I rate them a 2. My online experience was slightly better, with a rating of 3 or 4.

I had a disappointing experience with American Home Shield regarding a plumbing issue. Although I clearly explained my problems to the phone agent, the technician dispatched informed me that none of the issues were covered by my plan. This was despite the fact that I had described these issues in detail to the phone agent beforehand. The local repair technician even mentioned that American Home Shield should have known that these issues were not covered. The company initially claimed that a subsequent refund of the service fee would be a "courtesy," which I find inappropriate, as it should have been refunded due to their misleading practices.
The refund process has been extremely slow—14 business days—which is the longest timeline I've encountered. Along with that, their system of submitting and handling claims is not consumer-friendly. It encourages requests for non-covered repairs, misleading consumers to pay unnecessary service fees. Additionally, their electronics protection plan, in collaboration with Square Trade, has an undisclosed rule of allowing only one claim at a time. This potentially limits a consumer's ability to file necessary claims before plan expiration.
Furthermore, navigating their website and phone tree is cumbersome. Their plans are not clearly differentiated, especially between those available to home buyers and sellers versus standard consumers. The delay in processing and issuing new plan numbers after renewal also adds to the inefficiency. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been fraught with complications, from accessing genuine information to unfair billing practices. The review and refund process of American Home Shield falls short of customer expectations, and there is a definite need for significant improvements.

I've been using American Home Shield for some time now. Initially, I faced a problem with their service when I needed help with my water heater, but they didn't assist with that. However, the recent experience with the stove repair has been positive.

All Points Plumbing, the contractor assigned to my claim, scheduled an appointment and identified a leak. However, they insisted on using substandard materials for the repair, which wouldn't align with the existing plumbing system. When I requested a durable solution, they were unwilling to comply and instead proposed an option that seemed temporary and inadequate.
The technician, Colton, was unprofessional and lied to my renter by saying he had to order parts and couldn’t do the repair that day. I asked for his manager to call me, but Colton repeatedly called my phone. I wouldn’t answer the phone because I asked to speak with his manager, not him. It took multiple attempts and days to finally reach a manager, who eventually agreed to use the proper materials but still classified the repair as a "modification," leading to additional charges for me. So, I was a bit disappointed in the company. I told the manager I did not want Colton back in my house and he said he could send whoever plumber he wanted to my home. I wasn’t happy with that. My husband was on the phone a lot with them and they were completely rude to him as well.
I called American Home Shield, wanting a different plumber and they didn't give me many options. If I did a second opinion and they came up with the same diagnosis, that original plumber is who would go back in the house. I wasn't disputing the diagnosis. I just didn't want that plumber or that company back in my home, not after performing business that way.
The only other option AHS gave me was to do a cash in lieu. But when I tried to do that, they couldn't process it because the plumbing company had put notes in there that they already completed the job. I asked the American Home Shield woman why I was looking at a bill that the company wants me to pay $299 for them to complete the work, if they're telling AHS they've already completed everything. She couldn't do anything until contacting them and verifying that they had not completed that work yet. Due to this, and their lack of communication causing extended delays, I opted to hire an independent plumber at my own expense to resolve the issue promptly.
This entire experience has been quite frustrating as I remained without hot water and functional plumbing in the rental property for an extended period. American Home Shield's process, in this case, lacked options for dealing with unprofessional contractors, leaving me dissatisfied with their service. As a result, I find it difficult to recommend them based on this experience and currently rate their service 2 out of 5.

I've been a customer for several years, consistently paying my monthly dues, but every time I need a repair, American Home Shield sends out inexperienced technicians. The initial technician falsely classified my stove and oven issue as an "act of God," which was incorrect and led me to escalate the matter to their consumer relations. After much persistence, another technician correctly identified the problem as a faulty face plate.
The situation began in May of last year and took numerous months to resolve. Eventually, a technician from Repair Tech Plus contacted me, diagnosed the issue correctly over the phone, and prevented potential hazards by advising against sticking my finger into a faulty button, something previous technicians hadn't warned me about. Despite his competence, when it came time to replace the oven, American Home Shield required me to measure the space myself, offering no assistance for a 71-year-old woman like myself. If the new oven didn't fit, they threatened a restocking fee, adding to the frustration.
Communication with American Home Shield's customer service was poor, encompassing language barriers and a lack of empathy. They ask the questions and you give them an answer and try to explain it to them. But they don't understand and don't capture the notes. When I went to customer relations, I asked them if they could read me the notes that were put in there. They had little to no notes in the database to capture the conversation between me and that customer service rep. Some customer service representatives even hung up on me. The escalated consumer relations department showed little concern or apology. This experience has made me consider switching to another warranty company.
Although AHS provided options for replacement, including a gift card alternative, I felt that the necessary information was inadequately supplied. If I get the $1,500 for a new one, I would still have to pay out of pocket. I looked at all of the options and they gave me the repair person. He gave me a product that was closest to that model and serial number of the appliance because my product no longer existed. So, I opted to take that one because it was the closest. The overall quality of service was significantly lacking, both in terms of support and the functionality of the products provided. This entire ordeal has been frustrating, and I've had to spend additional money despite being a long-term customer.
The monthly payment has increased and on top of that, you have to pay a $75 copay. If you have the same problem within three weeks after the repair, that's considered as another repair and you have to pay another $75. They don't give a 30-day warranty period. I don't mind paying for service. But it's not good service. Beginning with the time that you put it in, put the request in, when somebody contacts you and then for them to come out, they're not good service people. The people who sign on with those companies typically aren't established companies. They're looking to get business and trying to establish themselves.

The claim submission process with American Home Shield was straightforward, but I faced significant issues with the service. The contractor for the heating system knew his job well, but the thermostat was installed in a less than optimal location by a previous AHS contractor, causing ongoing issues.
For my dishwasher claim, the contractor was delayed by a week and a half, and by the time they arrived, the dishwasher was working again, making the service fee feel like a waste.
I've had mixed experiences with American Home Shield in the past, including a troubling incident where a contractor spilled acid, damaging my hardwood floors. The response from both American Home Shield and the contractor’s insurance was disappointing, leading me to reconsider my satisfaction with their service. Over time, I've realized the cost of the warranty, approximately $2000 a year with $100 service fees, does not match the value received, as American Home Shield now caps their coverage at $5000 for systems that can cost far more.
Despite these issues, American Home Shield might still be the better option among home warranties, yet I’m seriously considering canceling when it’s time to renew due to these limitations. Additionally, their online tools are lacking, as I couldn't even find my dishwasher listed for claim submission. Overall, my satisfaction is quite low, and I'm exploring better alternatives.
Hello Mike. Thanks for taking the time to send us your review of your recent service requests. I apologize that you've encountered problems with some of the service calls that you recently had. I'd like to address those that you wrote about.
Regarding the heating system service call, I am glad to see that the most recent vendor was knowledgeable about the technology for the thermostat and was able to explain that well. Normally, our technicians do not change the location of installed equipment, so the previous vendor who came to the home would have replaced the thermostat in the same location as it was installed.
Regarding the dishwasher service issue, please bear in mind that the control board that was replaced had an intermittent failure. This is why the unit worked sometimes and failed at others. By replacing the board, the unit's efficiency and dependability was improved. This would not have been the case without the repair. Despite the time that you had to wait for the part to arrive, the repair situation improved the overall utility of your appliance.
I hate to see that you encountered secondary damage to your floors during a repair. Our contracts do explicitly state that secondary damage is never covered. Our vendors all carry their own insurance, so the vendor's insurance should have covered any damage that the vendor does during a service call.
Thank you for your overall endorsement of our warranty plan. We work diligently to ensure that our customers' coverage needs are met. Please feel free to reach out to our team using any of the contact options found here : https://www.ahs.com/contact/.

American Home Shield assigned His and Hers Plumbing to come to our house to fix a leak issue. Initially, they thought the leak was from the tub, but it turned out to be the sink, which they managed to fix efficiently. Fortunately, we haven't had any problems with it since.
My family has been with American Home Shield for about ten years. If a friend or family member were considering getting a home warranty with them, I would advise them to carefully review what options they choose. In terms of rating, I'd give them a 2 out of 5, based on my overall experience. I feel that sometimes American Home Shield, or perhaps the service providers, tend to opt for patching up issues, which can lead to compounded problems rather than proper fixes. This approach doesn't quite match my expectations when dealing with a warranty service, where I'd expect more comprehensive repairs rather than temporary solutions.

We had a plumbing issue and American Home Shield sent a technician from JNM. Although he arrived late due to GPS issues, he did a great job resolving the problem. However, our previous claim for a water heater was a nightmare. The first technician claimed we needed a new water heater but couldn’t work on mobile homes. American Home Shield kept assigning us technicians who didn’t handle mobile homes, leading to a frustrating cycle of repeated and canceled appointments without resolution.
Communication with American Home Shield was tedious, often requiring long wait times with no real assistance. After a month without a working water heater, they finally approved us to choose our own servicer, only to close the case before we could act on it. I ended up paying someone from the trailer park $150 to replace a part and restore our hot water, leaving my family without it for an entire month.
American Home Shield's service can be extremely hit-or-miss, especially when it comes to specialized needs like mobile homes. Their failure to provide a consistent resolution has made us reconsider our policy, as it’s clear they might not cover future issues. If I were to rate them, I’d give them a 1-star solely because they fixed the latest issue; otherwise, it would be zero or negative. The experience has left us disillusioned about the reliability of their service, and I will be canceling the policy after this ordeal.

Billy's AC Service’s initial diagnosis was that the blower fan needed replacement. Unfortunately, the entire system got shut off for more than two weeks, leaving our top floor without heat in 10-degree weather. When the parts finally arrived, and technicians came to install the blower motor, they discovered the actual issue was with the heating coils. They managed to run the system temporarily before replacing the heating coils later.
One problem I had was that American Home Shield designated a technician over an hour away, which seemed to delay the service because he didn't want to drive to my area unless he had other jobs nearby. It was inconvenient, especially in January with an 8-year-old in the house, leading me to buy space heaters for temporary relief.
AHS’ service comes with a typical two-week wait for any repair, which is something I always mention to friends. While it saves money compared to immediate service calls, the wait can be frustrating for urgent repairs. I appreciate that they've improved the service request process online, eliminating lengthy hold times. However, when I had an issue with my water heater, I faced a hassle as it didn't appear in my online coverage options due to a recent warranty overlap, forcing me to call multiple times for resolution.
Overall, I would rate American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5. They do help in getting things replaced, but the process can be cumbersome. Issues like technician availability and getting claims processed promptly have been recurring themes in my experience.

I called American Home Shield's customer service to submit a claim for my old microwave, and everything went smoothly without any issues. The contractor they sent, Asset Services, was professional and timely. They were new to me, but I had no problem with the service as they were able to address all my questions.
The microwave has been performing adequately since the repair; it's an older model and probably on its last leg, but it's holding up for now. I do have some reservations about the cost of the service, as I find it quite high. I'd recommend American Home Shield, but I would also suggest looking for a more affordable option if possible.
In terms of customer service during this specific claim, I would rate them a 5 out of 5 because I didn't encounter any problems. However, when evaluating the overall warranty coverage and product, I think they could improve, so I'd rate that a 3. The pricing is another area where I feel they could do better due to the high costs compared to contracts from years ago.
One particular experience with them wasn't great when it came to repairing my washing machine. It took a long time for the parts to arrive, and there was a lot of back-and-forth, causing me to lose workdays. However, with the latest contractor, things went smoothly and timely, especially since it coincided well with my availability over the holidays.
I've used their online tools a bit, mainly when directed by email updates. When I did use it, I found it easy to navigate and would rate it a 5. Overall, I've had mixed experiences, but the sense of security provided by their service, despite the price, is somewhat reassuring.

I had a rather disappointing experience with American Home Shield and Plumbers Incorporated. I encountered several issues with my plumbing that required urgent attention. Initially, the plumbers came twice but did nothing to resolve the problem. The first time they arrived, the issue—clogging due to flooding from the shower—had subsided because they took too long to come. They said they couldn't do anything since there was no visible water by the time they arrived and left without resolving the issue.
On their second visit, after I kept using the shower to make the problem visible again, they still didn't fix it. The plumber refused to remove the toilet or go on the roof to clean the pipes, citing that he was not allowed to perform those actions. Eventually, I had to hire another plumber at my own expense to solve the issue, which was frustrating.
In addition to the plumbing problem, I also faced issues with an electrical outlet in my garage and a malfunctioning washer and range hood vent. While the washer was eventually fixed after two weeks, the vent issue still remains unresolved after a month. The delay and lack of resolution have left me dissatisfied, especially since the smoke from cooking is affecting my home's interior.
I found the customer service over the phone to be polite and they seemed eager to help, but once the call ended, the promise of quick service was not fulfilled. They were quick to charge the service fee but slow to provide effective solutions.
Overall, I am not happy with the service provided by American Home Shield. Although the customer service was responsive by phone, the actual fixing of problems was ineffective and slow, making the overall experience quite frustrating.

The downstairs heat in my two-unit system stopped working due to what turned out to be a short in the system. Submitting the claim through the American Home Shield app was straightforward and convenient, which I appreciated. The first technician, Joey, who came out was excellent. He quickly diagnosed the problem, although he didn't have the necessary parts with him at the time. He promised to order them, and a different technician came out the following week. This second technician misdiagnosed the issue, thinking it was a thermostat problem, which resulted in an unnecessary installation. Ultimately, Joey returned, identified the actual issue—a centipede causing a short by getting fried on one of the elements—and resolved it effectively.
Overall, American Home Shield has been reliable in addressing problems promptly once a claim is submitted. However, there has been some frustration with delays, like when a technician had to visit multiple times before a resolution, as with a past issue with my washing machine. Despite this, their service has been satisfactory, and I'd rate them a solid 4 out of 5.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

Whenever I reach out to American Home Shield, whether by phone or online, their response is always quick and efficient. Their website is also easy to use. Recently, there was no heat coming through some vents. I contacted American Home Shield online, and they promptly responded by sending someone to check the problem. The tech discovered that a component in the attic was closed, likely a damper, and adjusted it. They waited until the heating started to ensure that heat was now coming through the vents and even used a tool to check if the airflow was at the correct level.
Since then, the repair has been effective. Overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as 5 stars, especially appreciating their customer service and the quality of the service provided.

Submitting the claim for my heater repair with AHS was straightforward. I reached out, and they contacted me the next day. They were nearby and able to address it swiftly, which I found to be impressively quick. The heat wasn't coming on when needed, and they identified a loose or disconnected wire as the issue. They secured it and ensured everything was working properly before leaving. Since then, the heater has worked perfectly without any issues.
While I generally rate my experiences a 4, mainly because some technicians in past experiences weren’t very cordial, this recent one was exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure all aspects of the heating unit were checked. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the outcome of this service.

I had an issue with some electrical work at home and contacted American Home Shield for assistance. They were prompt in responding, and J.W. Koehler reached out to me within a few minutes. The technician, Austin, was very thorough and even returned to complete further tests to ensure everything was resolved. He was communicative, explaining the cause of the issue clearly.
I was impressed by how timely they handled the situation, and I haven't experienced any further issues since the repair.
Regarding the cost, I found the pricing fair. I pay an annual fee, and there's a reasonable charge for each service visit. Overall, I rate my experience with them as excellent, and I would recommend American Home Shield.

I submitted a claim with AHS for my washing machine. When the contractor came to assess the problem, he concluded it couldn't be fixed and informed American Home Shield. They immediately contacted me to arrange for a new washing machine, which a company promptly delivered and installed. The service was polite and efficient. I've been with American Home Shield for a while, and every time I have an issue, they address it quickly. I once contemplated switching due to ads on TV, but I decided to stay with them, which I'm glad about.
In terms of the claims process, it was straightforward with no issues. The contractor communicated the situation effectively, and everything was handled swiftly. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate their service a 5 or even more if I could. The pricing is reasonable for the coverage I receive, especially compared to potentially higher charges elsewhere for individual services.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield and would recommend them to friends. Their customer service is prompt, and the coverage cost is worth every penny.

We noticed our gas bill skyrocketing soon after moving into our new home, so we decided to have the furnace checked. The heat exchanger was found to be cracked, so it needed attention.
Initially, our claim was denied after a visit from M&P Heating and Cooling, which wasn't quite helpful. However, after asking for a second opinion, Delgado Enterprises came out, and their professionalism made a positive impression. The tech from Delgado was knowledgeable, polite, and approachable, although my issue was that he couldn't fix the furnace due to its age. We ended up financing a new one, which was handled smoothly through a company associated with American Home Shield. The team installing it was dedicated, working tirelessly to ensure it was up and running in a day.
One major downside was communication; I didn't receive a follow-up call after the initial claim was denied. However, once I reached out, customer service was otherwise courteous and professional. I appreciate how the situation was ultimately resolved, and my home is now comfortably warm.
I would recommend American Home Shield, notably because they were responsive and supportive after my follow-up.

I've had a relationship with American Home Shield for about 5 years now and they do a pretty good job. When our washing machine stopped working, it wasn't going through its cycle properly and just pretended like it was complete. I called AHS for a service request and spoke to a rep. The first contractor couldn't fix it despite replacing the computer, so they organized for Sears to come out. The repairman from Sears ordered parts, and I've received one of them. He'll be back on the 18th to rebuild the washer.
While the washing machine is still awaiting repair, I feel reassured knowing that AHS will fix or replace appliances like they did with our heat pump at the farmhouse. It’s a bit of a wait sometimes, but that's expected. I appreciate the security of not having to worry about the cost of a new appliance when something breaks. Overall, AHS provides a good service and I'd recommend it to others looking for peace of mind with home appliances.

When I needed plumbing services, I reached out by phone to AHS. Drip Plumbing, the provider assigned to my claim, was very responsive and went above and beyond my expectations by resolving the issue within 24 hours. The installation was excellent and everything has been perfect since.
However, my experience with AHS was less than ideal. The process for getting a claim approved and repairs done felt unnecessarily lengthy. Previously, under OneGuard, things were much smoother, but since it's become American Home Shield, the service has noticeably changed.
Customer service at American Home Shield was alright. They assigned Drip Plumbing quickly, but everything else became a bit of a hassle. I've been with AHS for less than a year, and I would rate Drip Plumbing's service as a 5, but AHS only deserves a 1. Their customer service deserves about a 3, as does the price I pay.

I recently had a frustrating experience with AHS. I submitted a work request to have my stovetop repaired. They sent a tech who was unkempt and claimed, through limited communication, that there was no electricity at the outlet. However, immediately after he left, my son checked and confirmed that the electrical outlets were indeed working by testing them with other appliances.
Despite my concerns and refusal to sign the technician's report, AHS insisted on sending an electrician based on the initial report. The electrician, who arrived a week later, confirmed that the electricity was functioning properly, as I had mentioned. This process not only delayed the repair but also left my stovetop in need of further attention.
I am very dissatisfied, as this situation has been ongoing for nearly a month, and I've already paid a service fee upfront for the request. Overall, their customer service has been slow, not only with this claim but also with a previous request. It's disheartening, especially considering my limited budget and the fees I continue to pay without resolution. I regret switching from Sears Home Services based on a recommendation for American Home Shield, as they have not lived up to the expectations and trust I had hoped for.
Hello Betty. Thank you for reaching out to us about this service issue. I apologize for the service issues that you've encountered.

I've been with American Home Shield since September, and although this was my first claim, I chose them due to their competitive pricing in comparison to my previous service provider, which had become too costly. I had an extremely frustrating experience with American Home Shield when I had a claim related to a constantly running bathtub faucet in the upstairs bathroom. It would continue to run when it was turned off. The first technician from Sancho Services arrived but wasn't prepared to repair anything and claimed he didn't have the part. I had already taken time off work for this repair, which wasn't completed. When the second technician came, I was unable to take off again, so my mother-in-law was there. The repairman had a poor attitude and acted like he didn't wanna repair anything in the first place. He suggested the faucet had been tampered with, which was incorrect since we had just moved into the house in July. I eventually told him to leave because he was unwilling to fix the issue, despite having a helper with him.
Sancho Services later called, wanting to send someone out again, but I had enough. I was already paying for them to send someone out and I as well as somebody else had to take off work for the faucet to be repaired. They got there two days and they didn't repair it. It was a waste of time. I ended up repairing the faucet myself. When I reported this to American Home Shield, they weren't interested in addressing my concerns, and I was promised a refund that I never received. I had to open two different claims due to how the situation was managed initially, yet no refund was given.
I've had American Home Shield for some time across two properties, but this is the first time I've encountered such issues. Given this experience, I would rate my satisfaction as a one out of five for their service.
Good day Jacob. Thank you for the feedback.
I apologize for the issues that you encountered with the assigned vendors. I looked up work service request, and I see that a service reimbursement request was completed on 1/21/2025. Processing on your reimbursement should have been completed several weeks ago.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for about 10 years, on and off. Recently, I had an issue with my kitchen faucet not delivering cold water, and they sent out Protech Appliance to fix it. This time around, the problem was resolved without hassle, and they were able to fix it promptly during their visit.
However, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been quite mixed, particularly due to their contractors. In past cases, like with my dryer and microwave, the contractor that was sent out had a Better Business Bureau rating of F. Some of the contractors the home warranty company sent out provided such poor service that I felt uncomfortable having them in my house again, and I've occasionally needed a second opinion to get issues resolved.
When it comes to customer service representatives, they are generally pretty decent, so I would rate them a 3 out of 5. The price I pay for their services also feels average, so I'd give that a 3 as well. Their online service is more satisfactory, and I'd rate that at a 4 due to its ease of use and navigation.
However, I do receive more marketing materials and junk mail from them and others than I'd like, so the sales and marketing aspect gets a 2 from me. Considering these factors, I'd rate my overall recent experience with American Home Shield at a 1. While my experiences before were excellent, it hasn't been satisfactory over the last couple of years.

I had a claim where Knight's Mechanical came out to address a furnace issue. Initially, the furnace wasn't producing heat. I submitted a claim by calling AHS and found their customer service to be good.
The contractor from Knight's Mechanical was efficient. They determined that the necessary replacement parts for my furnace were unavailable, so they replaced the entire unit. This process took a couple of weeks, partly due to costs that AHS didn't cover, which I wasn't aware of initially. Nevertheless, the furnace is now working beautifully.
I often recommend AHS to friends. It's a reliable insurance option because you never know when something will need repair, which can be costly, like a furnace replacement. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for over three years, and my experience hasn't been great. My premium initially started at under $600, but has now risen to over $1400, which has led me to search for a new company.
One particular instance that stands out was when they sent a plumber who arrived nearly 3.5 hours late for a minor issue. Though the problem was eventually resolved, the lack of explanation for the delay was frustrating. The appointment was supposed to be between 11 and 2, but he only showed up at 5:30.
I usually contact American Home Shield by phone, which is always challenging because I have trouble understanding their agents. Overall, I would rate the service I received from them as a one out of five stars. The quality of their customer service is mediocre at best, probably a three, but the price for their service feels excessively high, a definite one star in that aspect.
Good day, Marcos. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us.
We understand that any time the cost of the service plan rises, some of our customers will not be happy with the change. However, this is not a decision that is made lightly by AHS' leadership. The cost of the home warranty is tied to current market conditions. It is an unfortunate truth that the cost of almost all services and goods are increasing. Despite this, AHS works to provide access to qualified technical vendors who can reduce the overall service expense for a homeowner. You have experienced this yourself recently. The plumber who came to your home was able to resolve the service issue at only the cost of the paid service fee.
I understand that while you were pleased with the service that this technician rendered, you were less than pleased with the time frame in which he arrived. Technicians typically schedule multiple calls back to back, and they tend to remain at a call until it has been completed. This can lead to instances in which they may arrive outside of the scheduled appointment time for a later call. I apologize that the vendor arrived later than scheduled for your appointment. If you feel that this is a dealbreaker, and that you'd rather not deal with that particular vendor again, we can place them on a listing for your account which will prevent them from being assigned to you in the future. You can reach out to our team directly and request that a vendor be placed on your 'refused vendor' listing.
You also expressed concern with not being able to understand some of our agents. I can offer the option of reaching out to our team via the links found at https://www.ahs.com/contact/. You may place service requests with us via online chat or via social media.
We value your business. Thanks for being a customer of AHS.

My kitchen garbage disposal needed servicing. They responded promptly and did an excellent job fixing it. Submitting the claim with AHS was quick and easy, and the contractor who came out was very professional.
However, while I appreciate their efficiency with simple issues, I've found them lacking when it comes to major problems. In cases like a malfunctioning air conditioner, they tend to deny coverage, which is frustrating, especially since that's what I expected my plan to cover. For minor repairs like a fan outlet or faucet, they handle things well.
Regarding their pricing, I feel it's above market rate compared to competitors who offer similar services. I've even considered changing service a few times due to this. Overall, I'd rate them 3 out of 5 stars.

The contractor called me the next morning, and we set up an appointment. They arrived on time, diagnosed the issue efficiently, and resolved it without any problems. I am very pleased with my experience overall, and I would recommend American Home Shield to friends. I've been a member since I bought my house in 2022, though there was a temporary cancellation due to a house fire. Re-establishing the policy upon my return was somewhat challenging due to address miscommunication, but everything was eventually sorted out.
Despite my initial hesitations, given my previous negative perceptions from a contractor's experiences, I've found the service beneficial, especially given my limited resources. The only drawback I've encountered is the difficulty in cancelling the policy, which wasn't well explained and resulted in unexpected charges. Nevertheless, I returned to American Home Shield because of familiarity and convenience. The numbers on my address got twisted a little bit, so we had a little trouble getting that straightened out. But that went okay. Customer service can sometimes be frustrating due to language barriers, making communication a bit challenging, although I understand this varies between calls. On a positive note, the overall cost of the service is affordable for me, and I find the website efficient to use, particularly on my phone.
Sincerely,
Mariah

I have been using American Home Shield for a long time. I had an issue with my washing machine recently; it wouldn't turn on and the door was having trouble locking. I called AHS by phone to set up a service appointment. The customer service was fine, though I found it a bit hard to understand the representatives. Eventually, everything was sorted out in a timely manner. Patriot Appliance Repair came out for the service, and although they had to order some parts, they addressed the issue promptly once the parts arrived.
My experience with American Home Shield is similar to dealing with any insurance company—they can be reluctant at times to cover everything. In my recent situation, I had to push them for a comparable replacement when they offered a lower-grade washing machine, but they did eventually come through. It's important to follow up on claims and ensure everything is handled properly.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.

The contractors they sent out were perfect; we've had them before for a different issue, and they are always great to work with. Since the repair, the tub has been functioning perfectly.

Based on this experience, I would rate American Home Shield 5 stars.

My microwave had stopped working, so I needed to submit a claim with AHS. I found the online process very easy to navigate and had no trouble at all. Before the contractor arrived, I was informed about their company, Allure Appliance, which was great since I had used them before.
When the contractor arrived, the service they provided was amazing as always. I would definitely rate this whole experience with a 5-star rating. I've been with American Home Shield for almost three years, after my real estate agent recommended their home warranty.
I appreciate the quality of service for the price I pay monthly. I'm very satisfied. I've told friends and family that they do a great job in getting repairs done easily if something happens. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been amazing, and I would give their customer service, coverage, and pricing all a 5-star rating.

Hers & His Plumbing came out to address an issue with our 10-year-old water heater. The tech was very professional and knowledgeable. He inspected the water heater, made some adjustments to the electronics, and explained that although the adjustments made could be temporary, the model was no longer being produced. Despite this, everything is running smoothly, and we currently have hot water without any issues.
I've been with AHS since 2012 when we purchased our home. In terms of the claim process, it was straightforward and quick. I was able to handle everything through automated systems and texts without needing to speak directly to a representative. Once I received notification of the company assigned for my service, I contacted them immediately to expedite scheduling.

The process of submitting my claim was efficient and quick; within an hour, I received a call to schedule the service. Since the repair, my air conditioner has been working well.
I also appreciated the online tools provided by American Home Shield, rating them highly for their functionality. However, I did notice an increase in the coverage cost compared to last year, which impacted my overall satisfaction with the price.

I contacted AHS because I had an issue with my furnace not working. They quickly sent out Fast Response Heating. The techs were prompt and replaced the pilot lightbox within a few days. Everything is working fine now. I've also had them send out a plumber once, and that experience was problem-free as well. The only downside I've noticed is that sometimes they try to piece and part things together instead of replacing them, which affects my satisfaction a bit. Overall, I would rate my experience as a 3 out of 5 because of that aspect.

I've had a great experience with American Home Shield since I signed up with them in 2018 after purchasing my home. My parents have always used their services, and I decided to follow suit. Recently, I had a claim for a GFI outlet that went out in my garage. The tech was not only efficient in replacing it but went above and beyond by investigating the root cause of the problem. He discovered an issue linked to a backyard fountain setup that caused the outage during a rainy day and disconnected a wire to prevent future problems.
I find their online service very user-friendly, having moved from phone interactions to managing services online. Whenever there's an issue with a technician or service, American Home Shield promptly addresses it by sending someone competent.
I'd absolutely recommend getting a home warranty as it has been incredibly reassuring in situations like when my water heater went out. I rated my experience with American Home Shield highly at five stars for service and ease of communication, though I feel their pricing sits at a satisfactory level. Overall, I believe every homeowner should consider having their home warranty for peace of mind.

I have had American Home Shield since we bought our house in December 2019. We included it as a requirement in our home sale because our boiler is old and might need replacing eventually. Instead of asking for money from the sellers, we asked them to purchase a home warranty, and they chose American Home Shield. We've continued to renew our coverage every year since then.
Recently, our furnace stopped working. When we tried to reset it, the boiler would not activate. We filed a claim online, which was very easy, and First LLC was sent to inspect the issue. Though the problem wasn't covered under American Home Shield, the technician was outstanding. He identified the issue as sludge from our tank and even went out of his way to arrange automatic oil delivery to prevent future issues. I've had a geat experience with this technician and would love to have him assigned to future issues.
The claim process is user-friendly, and it's become easier to reach someone for quick answers. Despite rising prices—our premium has doubled since 2019—the service quality makes up for it. The technician was excellent, and while I've faced challenges with customer service accents in the past, that's improved recently.
I always recommend American Home Shield to neighbors because it has helped us greatly. Although the cost has increased significantly, the quality of service and ease of claim submission make it worthwhile. Overall, I've found American Home Shield beneficial.

I had a technician come out to work on a gas pipe leak. Although the claim process wasn't handled by me directly but by the technician, it went smoothly. The technician was courteous, and the repair has been functioning fine since.
However, there was a frustrating experience when I was initially told that American Home Shield would cover the gas service, but after a week without gas, I was informed that they wouldn't. This lack of communication was upsetting, although I generally find their service satisfactory.
In terms of pricing, the premiums have been increasing, which is not ideal. Despite this, American Home Shield has covered most of my repairs, including a recent furnace issue where I only paid a portion. This reliability makes the rising cost somewhat acceptable to me.
Overall, I'd rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5 for their service. The customer service has been fine, and while the pricing is higher than I'd like, they have consistently come through in covering most claims.

When our hot water heater gave out, I first submitted an emergency request online. Despite the urgency, American Home Shield initially sent a mold specialist instead of directly addressing the water heater issue. This seemed unnecessary to me, as the water heater had just begun leaking. The specialist was late, and when he finally arrived, his assessment felt like a waste of time.
Summit Plumbing, the contractor sent by American Home Shield, did arrive and replace the piping but left other issues unresolved. They were supposed to fix our toilet but couldn't do it the same day and promised to return on Thursday. When they did, though the toilet was somewhat usable, it was still not functioning properly. They gave an unprofessional impression and were dismissive over the phone.
Regarding the water heater, I was informed that it needed a replacement, but was shocked to discover there was a modification fee of $585. This fee was not mentioned initially and seemed to contradict the coverage outlined in the contract. After several frustrating conversations, I found the contractor's behavior to be unprofessional. I reached out to various local plumbers who confirmed that such fees for simple replacement were unreasonable.
After continuous hassles, including a pitiful cash offer from American Home Shield that barely covered the cost of replacement without installation, I decided to cancel my contract. Overall, my experience was extremely unsatisfactory, and I do not recommend American Home Shield. They made me feel like my concerns were unimportant, and it took intervention from my real estate agent for any resolution.

I've been using American Home Shield's service since I bought my home in 2021. Recently, I had a claim for a leaking roof, which was handled efficiently. The technician, who was also the owner of the business, was on time, professional, and did a great job patching up the roof. He even helped me find someone for a plumbing issue American Home Shield couldn't assist with.
However, I did have a frustrating experience with a plumbing problem. I was quoted nearly $28,000 by Patriot Plumbing due to a complex issue, but American Home Shield declined to cover it and wouldn't offer a cash payout or refund my service call fee. That was disappointing as I felt they didn't provide a solution. I'm still dealing with the plumbing issue, having received quotes between $3,000 to $5,000, but since American Home Shield initially denied coverage, I can't resubmit the request.
Overall, I'd rate my experience as a 3 out of 5. The roofing service was great, but the plumbing situation left me unsatisfied.

I contacted American Home Shield for a furnace repair. Initially, they sent out an unprofessional contractor who didn’t properly address the issue, and my furnace failed again shortly after the initial fix. This process happened during extreme cold, with temperatures dropping below zero, leaving us to rely on space heaters and a fireplace for warmth.
The first repair person they sent out showed up in a AAA battery truck for AAA services for dead batteries, and this caught me quite off guard because I expected a heating and cooling company to show up. He assessed that we needed a motherboard. They had to order that part. They came back out on Wednesday to fix this problem. They did get it going temporarily. But it lasted for about 36 hours, and it went out again. So I contacted American Home Shield again. They said a different company would be getting out to me. I contacted American Home Shield several times, trying to get somebody out here and I did not want the previous company coming out here again. When the second guy from a different company came out, he assessed the problem and then he got the part. Within two hours, he was back and he fixed it. So, that company was good. The first company was a joke. As of now, the furnace is still working.
Contacting American Home Shield was frustrating. They promised follow-ups from contractors, but their lack of prompt action was worrying, especially under such harsh weather conditions. It eventually took 9 days to get the furnace fixed, which was unacceptable, especially considering it was a life safety issue in such cold weather.
While one of the customer service agents was helpful and consistent, most interactions were unproductive. I found communication difficult due to language barriers and perceived indifference from representatives.
I'm uncertain about recommending home warranties based on this ordeal, and I believe the responsiveness and quality of service in such a scenario should be critically re-evaluated. This experience would be even more concerning for someone less able to endure these conditions.

I've had a rather challenging experience with American Home Shield. We've encountered recurring problems, notably with our toilet. The wax seal at the base blew out for the fifth time, causing water leaks and lasting damage. The contractors seemed unable to resolve this issue efficiently, leading to unpleasant conditions in our home and disruptions, especially since this bathroom is intended for my special needs daughter.
Additionally, we faced similar issues with our washing machine. Despite multiple repairs, it failed repeatedly, causing significant inconvenience as we ended up frequenting the laundromat. After escalating the issue to Bill Cobb, the CEO, there was finally some movement in addressing our concerns. However, it’s frustrating that it required such an escalation to get results.
Despite considering other companies, I chose to stay due to American Home Shield’s reputation for ensuring payment to contractors, unlike some competitors. However, my overall satisfaction is low due to the persistent struggles and poor customer service. I’ve learned to navigate the system to some extent, but it shouldn’t require such efforts to receive basic, effective service.
Due to these experiences, I can’t recommend American Home Shield to friends without significant caveats. The service often requires me to intervene and escalate issues repeatedly to get satisfactory resolutions, and the online tool lacks responsiveness when urgent human interaction is needed. Although I've encountered some competent individuals willing to help, the overall experience needs significant improvement.

In terms of ratings, I'd give the overall experience with American Home Shield a 3 out of 5. The customer service was better, rating a 4 out of 5. I find the price of the policy to be quite satisfactory, deserving a 5 out of 5. As for their website and online tools, I'd rate them a 4 out of 5.

My claim experience with American Home Shield regarding my garage door, and it was quite frustrating. Initially, they sent out someone who seemed unprofessional and immediately blamed a power surge, which would disqualify the claim since it's not covered. There was no evidence of a power surge, and it felt like the company was trying to deny the claim without valid reasoning.
After some back and forth with American Home Shield, where they were not transparent about the claim status, I managed to request a second opinion just before the deadline expired. They tried to discourage me by warning about additional service fees if the second opinion was the same.
Finally, they sent Ace Garage Door Repair, and they were fantastic. They examined the issue properly, determined the control board had failed, and ordered the part, which took about two weeks to arrive. Now, the garage works perfectly. The technician, Adam, was excellent and explained everything clearly.
Over the three years I’ve been with American Home Shield, I've found they often resist covering claims, citing various exceptions, and their communications are misleading. If you can self-insure, I’d recommend doing so because they tend to fight hard not to pay claims on more significant issues.
For customer service, I’d rate American Home Shield a 2. Their coverage as stated might deserve a 4, but practically, due to their handling of claims, it falls short. The online tool itself could be rated a 3 – while functional, the information on claim status is often inaccurate, which caused additional frustration. Overall, I would not recommend them.

I had a claim for my washer and refrigerator. The washer was continuously running with a burnt smell, while the digital display on my refrigerator was malfunctioning, making it hard to read the temperature.
I submitted the claim by calling in, and the service was great. They took down all necessary information, and I was provided with the technician's name and contact details. The technician was professional and explained that parts needed to be ordered for both appliances, which would take about three weeks. During this period, I was advised to continue using the washer to monitor any further issues. Once the parts arrived, I contacted them, and they promptly scheduled a service appointment.
Now, everything is functioning well. The refrigerator's display is brighter, and the washer is working without any issues. I've been with American Home Shield for two years, and just before renewing, this experience reinforced my decision to continue with their service. I appreciate the ease of submitting claims, whether by phone or online, and the quick assignment of contractors.
However, there was an instance where a plumbing contractor was quite far from my location, which delayed service. It would be helpful if contractors could be assigned from closer locations. Despite this, I find American Home Shield to be reliable and have even explored additional services like HVAC tune-ups that they offer.
I highly recommend American Home Shield for their prompt and efficient service when appliances break down, which offers peace of mind as you never know when issues will arise.

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, there were delays, but they kept me informed about the status of the order and when they would return to fix the issue. The owner himself even came out to do the repair, as he believed he had a better solution. Although the initially ordered part didn’t fit as expected, he was diligent in ordering another one and ensured everything was fixed correctly. He replaced the old garbage disposal with a new one, and everything has been working perfectly since then. I have been a customer of American Home Shield since 1996, with multiple policies over the years. Despite this long-standing relationship, I am extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. It is by far the worst I’ve encountered in my 68 years. Their service is terrible, with difficulties reaching anyone in the United States. I had an incident where I was without heat for 2.5 months due to a single missing part. If not for my rental properties, I would have abandoned them long ago.
I also faced an experience where an air conditioner in one of my rental properties broke down on tenants who were there for a week during the summer. American Home Shield didn't take the vendor's advice to replace the unit and said they could get a part from somewhere. They lollygagged for about three days until the tenant moved out and demanded their money back. Then they ended up letting the guy get a brand new one like he suggested in the first place and installed it. I lost $2,600 because of American Home Shield.
Every time I've ever been able to escalate and get somebody who could actually do something within a couple of months, that person has apologized and pretty much said, “Yeah. I know what you're talking about. I hear it all the time. It's what everybody says.” Then I see their ads on TV, and they talk about how somebody is there in 24 hours and all this stupid crap.
One of the things that I fortunately learned and people need to know is to get to know when you have somebody come out to your house for something, like a plumber. If they do a really good job and they're clean, then make note of their company and pray that they remain a vendor. I get them to give me their cell phone number. So when I had a plumbing problem a couple of weeks ago, I called the vendor I like and I said, “Hey, if I call American Home Shield, how soon can you go out?” He said, “Today.” I said, “Great. I'm calling.” He said, “Great. I'll wait for the order.” They ordered him and I got it that day. But I had to do the work myself. You have to learn all this over the years and do it yourself because American Home Shield is not gonna help you.
Even though I've paid thousands of dollars over the years, they never offer any form of compensation or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. I have learned to navigate their system over time by establishing direct contact with reliable vendors, bypassing American Home Shield’s inefficient processes. Despite this workaround, their lack of customer-centric solutions remains a significant frustration.
I strongly caution others against choosing American Home Shield due to these negative experiences and the numerous challenges I've faced.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for over 18 years, and generally, I like the service they provide. Recently, I had an issue with my washing machine; the belt was in pieces and needed replacement. The technician ordered the parts and came back to fix it, but there were some frustrations along the way. Different technicians handled the case, which led to some inconsistencies. Initially, I got error messages on the machine after the repair, but it seems to have resolved itself now.
One major concern I have is with their customer service. It feels like a never-ending cycle of calls, often routed to overseas operators, making it difficult to resolve issues efficiently. For instance, there was confusion about the arrival of a part I needed. While one part came via UPS, another was placed in the mailbox but wasn't acknowledged in their system, causing repeated delays in scheduling service appointments.
I would still recommend American Home Shield, especially for new homeowners without local repair contacts, like us when we moved to North Carolina. Despite the customer service issues, which I think need significant improvement, the service itself has been helpful. However, I’m disappointed by the lack of direct interaction with their representatives and the continuous back-and-forth required to get things sorted. I hope future interactions reflect some improvements in handling service claims more directly and effectively.

I had an issue with my American Home Shield coverage regarding my refrigerator. Initially, the freezer wasn't working properly; sometimes our fudge bars would start melting. When I submitted a claim, I worked with a representative who was polite and helpful, and they arranged for a technician from Repair My Appliance to come out. The technician was timely, courteous, and explained everything clearly. However, the day after the visit, the entire refrigerator stopped working, and the technician mentioned that parts for the compressor would be ordered. Unfortunately, the compressor fully died. I was given the option to either rebuild or get a new refrigerator, but the reimbursement didn't cover the cost of a new refrigerator that would fit under my cabinets. The one that fit cost almost double what I received, which was disappointing.
I did not have any issues contacting customer service and found the response time reasonable. I initially chose them because my sister had a good experience years ago. While I appreciated the prompt and polite service, I was dissatisfied with the reimbursement policy for appliances. I hope to get clarity on whether future service calls for items like a washer and dryer would be covered under a single fee or not. Despite some issues, I've been generally happy with the service when I needed it for a cooktop repair a few years back. However, improvements in coverage for unique sizing like mine would be beneficial.
Roberta, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the helpful and expedience of our customer service team, but we’re sorry to learn that the reimbursement you received didn’t meet your expectations. I'm happy to provide the clarity around including multiple appliances under a single service request. This is absolutely something that can be done within your plan agreement. As long as the items are of the same trade (i.e. multiple appliances, or multiple plumbing issues) you can create a single service request and include multiple items within that trade and only 1 service fee would be due. Your feedback is important to us, and we’re committed to making improvements. Sincerely, Marc

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield due to issues with my dryer, which I thought had a faulty heating element again. Although there was a bit of a language barrier with the technician, he was well-prepared with a translator and was very efficient, even being kind to my dog. There were no issues with the repair itself. However, setting up the claim was frustrating. Initially, when I enrolled for their services, I was told my coverage would begin around February 13th or 14th. But I faced trouble accessing the app for scheduling services.
When I reached out to their support, one agent was quite rude and unhelpful, telling me to just wait and check back later without providing a clear reason. A subsequent call with a different representative was more pleasant, and he explained that the service just hadn't been activated yet, resolving the issue smoothly. Yet, it still took more than a week for the technician to come, leaving us without a dryer, which was inconvenient. Since getting the dryer fixed, it has been functioning well. Although we've had issues with the heating element before, I'm hopeful this fix will last longer than the past ones.

I've had American Home Shield for about four years now. Although I'm not fully satisfied, I haven't found a better alternative yet. When it comes to the technicians they send out, the quality varies—some are really good, while others are less impressive. For instance, I had a plumbing leak issue recently, but I can't recall which technician handled it. One significant change I've noticed is the increase in the deductible, which has gone up from $75 to $125, and that's quite a jump.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for about two years. My latest interaction with them was due to a plumbing leak that hasn't been resolved yet. It's been a couple of days since I reported the issue, and while they've sent me an email stating that they're reviewing the situation, they didn't provide a clear timeline for the follow-up. If a friend or family member inquired about my experience, I would probably recommend them for their service plans. In terms of customer service, I usually utilize both their phone and online options, depending on the nature of the issue.

I had an issue with my AC unit, which is less than two years old. When Floyd Services, the contractor sent by American Home Shield, came out to look at it, they quickly jumped to the conclusion that I needed a complete replacement to the tune of $10,000. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion because their recommendation seemed extreme for such a new unit. Another company came in, discovered that the problem was actually just a disconnected wire and a faulty breaker, and fixed it for just $15. This really highlighted how the first contractor seemed more interested in making a sale than genuinely addressing the issue.
While I haven't had many issues with American Home Shield before, at a previous house there was an AC technician who missed a small leak, but that felt more like an understandable oversight. The experience with Floyd Services felt misleading by comparison. While their overall service is decent, I think there are areas where coverage could be improved. For example, if issues arise due to poor work by a licensed contractor, those should be covered and pursued against the responsible party rather than leaving the customer in a lurch. Despite seeing their point, I believe that coverage should account for professional errors.

I had American Home Shield handle a claim. The process took about a month and a half before they provided me with a new dishwasher. Unfortunately, the technicians from Sears who came out weren't very effective. They repeatedly stated they had ordered parts, which were apparently sent to my house, but I never received them—it turned out they never actually ordered the parts. I've been with American Home Shield for approximately 5 to 6 months. In the end, American Home Shield did the right thing by replacing my dishwasher, although there were some communication issues along the way.

I had a completed claim and now another one that's still open. The completed claim involved Hayes Appliance service, and they were also assigned to the ongoing claim. For the completed claim, Hayes Appliance initially visited and attempted to fix the issue. Although it required a couple of visits due to additional problems discovered, they were prompt and efficient. It's not Hayes Appliance that I have issues with; they did a great job. My frustration lies with American Home Shield. The approval process for repairs or replacements takes an unreasonably long time. Currently, I am waiting for them to approve a request for a new washing machine recommended by Hayes Appliance.
This delay is frustrating, especially since the expert technician has already diagnosed the need for a replacement. I can't understand why there's a prolonged approval delay when it's clearly necessary. My first claim with them, for a dishwasher repair, didn't seem to take as long. However, since it was just a repair and not a replacement, that may explain the quicker response. In general, once repairs are done, the appliances work fine. I have only praise for the technician's work, despite the fact that they are located an hour away from my home, which can be inconvenient.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite frustrating. I submitted a claim because the pool pump motor was making terrible noises, and I had to do this over the phone. The process to submit the claim was average and initially, I didn't get to speak with a live person. It was only after my claim was declined that I spoke with a representative. They informed me I had to wait until the pump totally failed before anything could be done. This means more potential damage and a 1 to 2-week wait for scheduling the replacement motor.
The contractor from Patio Pools of Tucson was competent and diagnosed the situation accurately. However, the overall support from American Home Shield disappointed me. Rather than waiting until total failure, they could be more proactive in handling claims. I've had American Home Shield for multiple properties for about 30 years, but I'm not impressed. Even though I upgraded to the highest tier, the service hasn't met my expectations.

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with American Home Shield. I filed a claim for my top-loading washer, which needed repair due to a broken side bracket. However, the repair services they connected me with were subpar. The vendors seemed uninterested in resolving the issue, often suggesting solutions that required additional payment, which left me feeling unsatisfied. This experience repeated itself several times, raising concerns about the quality of contractors American Home Shield employs. When trying to leave reviews for these vendors, I found that I couldn't post on their websites, which felt suspicious to me. As a result, I had to resort to Yelp. Moreover, the customer service representatives at American Home Shield seemed robotic, strictly following scripts without truly understanding or addressing my concerns. Communication was difficult, which added to my frustration.
I ultimately decided to switch to another home warranty company that has a policy of dropping vendors after three negative reviews, which I appreciate. The cost of coverage with American Home Shield was not justified by the lack of quality service I received. Nevertheless, my overall experience with American Home Shield, after being a customer for almost 20 years, has declined significantly from when they provided excellent service. The focus now seems to be on shareholder profits rather than customer satisfaction. I've since moved to Choice Home Warranty and have had a much better experience there.

I recently dealt with a heat pump issue with American Home Shield. Initially, the process of filing my claim was quite confusing. American Home Shield said they'd arrange for a technician, but there was a mix-up with authorization. It took multiple calls back and forth before it got sorted out, and a technician was finally dispatched. Once the technician arrived, the experience improved significantly. Being technically inclined, I was able to discuss solutions with him, and he provided great service, effectively resolving the issue. He really saved the day for everyone involved.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield for our pool pump was straightforward, and they promptly sent a vendor to schedule an appointment. The vendor visited the next day, which was convenient for us, and they efficiently took care of the issue. We were satisfied with the service we received.
My husband had a good rapport with the service technician. Since the repair, the pool pump has been functioning well without any issues.
In terms of my overall experience, I would rate it a five out of five, as I was pleased with the process and outcome. The cost of the warranty has increased over the years. Although I find the price hikes for service calls to be a bit concerning, it's still better than having to pay the full price for repairs.
Lastly, I would give the online tool a five out of five for its ease of use and convenience.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!
