We have relied on American Home Shield for many years, approximately 8 to 9, and it has been my choice ever since we signed up a long time ago when we purchased our house. Recently, I submitted a claim for my furnace that stopped working. I used the American Home Shield website to request the service and although navigating the site wasn't difficult, receiving updates about the assigned contractors was an issue. I had to check the website myself because I wasn't getting any email notices or letters. This lapses in communication made arranging the times with the contractor awkward.

Then, the techs from Incredible HVAC LLC came out for a repair visit and they ended up replacing the furnace. But their behavior during the repair was unsettling. They argued loudly with each other which made me uncomfortable, especially being a woman alone in the house with them. At one point, my smoke alarms went off, and the main technician seemed panicked rather than helpful. The lack of professionalism from these technicians made me hesitant and anxious throughout their visit. Also, this new furnace they installed became much louder than the previous one and has a strange starting process, which is different from my old one.

While I rate American Home Shield somewhat positively, around a 3.5 to 4, one downfall has been the ever-increasing premiums, which I am not notified about beforehand. Additionally, the communication must improve as I haven’t been receiving critical updates regarding charges or service specifics. Despite these shortcomings, American Home Shield does offer peace of mind. The coverage effectively reduces out-of-pocket expenses on major repairs like the HVAC system and air conditioner replacements.

I had an experience with a claim involving a company AHS works with called Safe Choice, and it was not satisfactory. It took a month to hear back about a part, and they were quite uncoordinated, even going as far as to schedule a service call without having the necessary part. The owner was quite dismissive, stating that I wasn't their customer, American Home Shield was, which was very frustrating.

Things took a turn for the better when another company, Renegade, handled my claim instead. They were polite, promptly ordered the needed parts, and scheduled an installation swiftly. This stark contrast in service showed me how varying the experience can be depending on the contractor.

I've been with American Home Shield for over 30 years, and despite isolated hiccups, they've been reliable, which is why I've stayed with them all these years. They've consistently resolved issues, highlighting their commitment to their customers.

When my old furnace failed to heat up due to its age, I contacted American Home Shield, and they promptly sent a contractor. The contractor was professional and knowledgeable, providing a thorough assessment and a fair quote for the replacement.

Though the process required a couple of days for the furnace to be ordered and installed, it didn't feel disruptive. My tenants are now enjoying the newly installed furnace, which has been performing wonderfully. What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is their reliability; when they commit to a service, they deliver promptly.

AHS' responsiveness was quite impressive. Even though I was out of town when our air conditioner broke down, American Home Shield handled everything efficiently. My older children, including my 20-year-old, were home, and they coordinated the repair without any issues.

The company was quick to respond when I reported the problem, and they scheduled the repair promptly. I appreciate their proactive communication whenever a service is required. It removes the stress of having to search for technicians and deal with out-of-pocket expenses.

I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I had an incident with Mitchell Ventures where their tech came to resolve an issue with a clogged sink. He not only performed the job skillfully but was also kind and communicative, explaining that the problem was due to a grease clog and the methods he used to clear it. His ability to schedule the appointment promptly was fantastic, even managing to come out the very next day. The claim process was easier than it used to be, especially with the option to submit online, making it faster for me to get issues addressed. However, while their scheduling is commendable, I'd prefer if they could streamline the process when a tech identifies a problem that could be fixed immediately, instead of sending someone else later.

Throughout my use of the service, I've dealt with various issues, from garage door checks to fixing my home vacuum. Other than minor delays on certain fixes, most claims were resolved satisfactorily, championing the company's dedication to rectifying customer concerns. The reassurance of having American Home Shield is something I felt confident sharing with friends and family, even amid minor aggravations. My continued business with them speaks volumes to the trust and value I find in their coverage.

I called American Home Shield for my ice maker, and they sent Liberty Appliance Repair to my home. The first encounter left me puzzled; they assessed the ice maker and noted a replacement was necessary. However, when they returned while I was out, my roommate informed me they left a box with a note suggesting I needed a filter at my own expense. They didn’t fulfill my expectations as the ice maker ended up still broken. Luckily, American Home Shield is now arranging for another company to address the problem and order another ice maker.

Submitting the claim over the phone was straightforward, though following up without resolve from the initial contractor was frustrating—they didn’t return my calls. Despite this incident, American Home Shield has been reputable overall, as I’ve been with them for some time now. Their efforts to resolve home issues stand out, even though their service cost increased from $100 to $125.

Financially, I find the service fees, which draw directly from my account, a bit hefty. Yet, logically, with rising costs, it's understandable. My general appeal towards American Home Shield remains due to the all-encompassing coverage, from appliances to roofing.

Ultimately, although the current situation is unresolved, American Home Shield’s attempts to address repair needs reaffirm their effort.

I'm satisfied with American Home Shield's service and I’d undoubtedly recommend them to friends and family for their quick response and efficient handling of issues.

I encountered some issues with my appliances and took the opportunity to try American Home Shield. To my pleasant surprise, the appliance repair service was outstanding. They responded within half an hour and arrived when they promised, even calling ahead to confirm their visit. They resolved the issues with my microwave, which wasn't microwaving, and my refrigerator, which had stopped freezing as it should.

My experience with American Home Shield wasn't without hiccups. I submitted a claim for $1,750, but only received payment of about $1,600, leaving me puzzled. I haven't had the chance to address this discrepancy with them just yet.

Moreover, it took a substantial amount of time—several months, in fact—for American Home Shield to acknowledge my claim and process the payment, which was less than ideal. Despite these frustrations, the technicians themselves were great.

In overall assessment, I would rate American Home Shield as a 3, largely due to the delayed claim handling and payment issues, though I'd give the appliance technicians a 5 for their quality service.

My experience with American Home Shield has been frustrating. A recent claim involved changing the water lines for my sinks, and I was surprised when they wanted to charge me extra on top of the monthly fee I already pay. I couldn't understand why they'd require additional payment, given this service was part of what I signed up for.

When I had a problem with the stove door that required fixing, they refused to replace it, stating it wasn't covered under the plan, even though such issues can occur with age. Their solution felt insufficient, and it meant I had to find another service provider for a resolution. An outside plumber managed to solve the issue for less, which made me question the value and promises of American Home Shield.

They ought to replace appliances when repairs can't be completed, which they didn’t consider in my stove's case. I feel as though I've paid for services that were not delivered, especially when necessary repairs fall under their stated coverage. This has led to dissatisfaction with my experience. I believe they should follow through on their promise of coverage, and it's important they address these shortcomings promptly.

Their recommendation left me feeling discarded, lacking any solution that respected the money and trust already invested in them.

I decided to go with American Home Shield (AHS) a couple of years ago. Recently, when DGM Contracting came out, it turned into quite an adventure. Still, it was a good experience. We were experiencing issues with our circuit breaker—it was actually emitting smoke, which was pretty alarming. We needed a new circuit breaker, and as it turns out, some wiring needed attention too.

The claim process initiated relatively swiftly, with the circuit breaker replacement happening in about three days. However, the wiring posed additional challenges, extending the process to a few weeks. Communication with the technicians was pleasant and they were quite helpful, which made this complex situation a bit more manageable.

Though I appreciated parts of this experience, I have mixed feelings. Sometimes American Home Shield’s approval process can test my patience, especially in emergencies. When your circuit breaker is smoking, waiting 24 hours for a technician feels considerably lengthy.

Having been with them for around two years, I find myself giving American Home Shield a middling score—more of a three on a five-scale.

Having been an American Home Shield customer for about 34 years now, my recent experience has been quite disappointing. The trouble started on March 2nd when I called them to service my HVAC system. The technicians from a company called David Bennis came out, assessed the issue, and said they needed to order a part. After that, it became a never-ending cycle of blaming between them and American Home Shield.

A week after the initial visit, I reached out to the technicians to follow up on the part, and they directed the issue back to American Home Shield, whilst American Home Shield indicated they hadn't received the part order. This back-and-forth continued week after week over several calls, with my wife and I often being told contradictory information, leading us to immense frustration.

Ultimately, after repeated attempts at communication, including speaking with different representatives, we managed to expedite the process but still with no clear timeline on when the repair would finally be completed.

These recent encounters, especially with how the HVAC and certain drywall repairs were handled by other AHS technicians, have left me quite perturbed. In particular, one drywall technician would openly mention his health issues as an excuse for not doing a good job. As it stands, I can't recommend American Home Shield's service based on my current experience — leaving me to rate my overall satisfaction with a 2 out of 5, given the ongoing issues that have yet to be resolved.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield since my dryer wasn’t working; it wouldn’t dry clothes completely. I initially had trouble submitting my claim online, so I spoke directly to a representative who was very helpful in reopening an old claim since the problem hadn’t been fixed.

Not long after, I received an email detailing the contractor information who would be assisting me. The tech reached out to discuss the issue and suspected it was a heating element problem, which he replaced. Unfortunately, my dryer is still not functioning correctly, and they are scheduled to return next Friday.

What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is not having to search for repairmen or parts on my own, which is a huge time saver. Nonetheless, I find it challenging that they seem to focus on repairs rather than replacements, which can be frustrating when having to deal with recurring issues.

If I were rating my experience with them, customer service deserves top marks for their assistance and prompt communication. Pricing and coverage are a bit tricky; I’d rate price as a 4 given its value, while coverage falls slightly due to the repair vs. replace aspect. Despite a recent struggle with my dryer, having this warranty is reassuring, especially with an older home where chores break frequently. In summary, American Home Shield is a convenient service, though there's room for improvement in their replacement policy.

We contacted American Home Shield regarding a problem with my stove. We have been with them for 16 years, and this experience was far from satisfactory. They sent We Fix Appliances to address the issue. Unfortunately, they didn't fix anything and, to make matters worse, when we sought assistance from American Home Shield, they failed to satisfy our needs either.

Despite being with them for so long, we feel quite disappointed by the support offered. Throughout this process, we didn't appreciate the service that was provided, which was a frustrating ordeal for me. We reached out to them more than once, hoping they might remedy the problem, but alas, we're still dealing with an unresolved issue.

We had an issue with an appliance, and the repair was straightforward—a blown fuse. The technician was prompt, professional, and he had the replacement part on hand, fixing the issue within 15 minutes.

I still remember how he efficiently ran to his truck to grab the fuse and got everything working perfectly in no time. Since then, the appliance has been functioning well and I'm pleased with the outcome.

However, shortly after, we encountered another issue. Our property, built in 1954, has an outdoor hot tub that tripped a breaker. When a technician from another company came to check it, they flagged our panel as outdated and potentially hazardous. That’s been a bit concerning, and while it's not an issue directly covered by American Home Shield, I need to follow up regarding their ability to assist with such a problem. I plan to raise this with them as soon as possible.

Overall, based on the prompt appliance service I received, I'd rate American Home Shield pretty highly.

When I recently scheduled my annual AC servicing through American Home Shield, I had a positive experience with the contractor, Royal Flush. The technician was knowledgeable and even shared useful recommendations for protecting my unit against power surges.

Although I initially encountered a small hiccup with scheduling online—owing to the weekend timing—American Home Shield's customer support was prompt and efficient, clearing up the confusion quickly. This interaction reinforced my confidence in their service team.

Having been with American Home Shield for about six months to a year now, what I value the most is knowing I'm covered if any major household issue arises. When I previously faced an AC problem, it cost me $1500 out-of-pocket. Knowing that with this warranty, I'd only have a set monthly charge ensures I'm protected financially up to a certain limit.

In terms of service assessments, I'd recommend American Home Shield with a top rating. Their customer service is stellar, deserving more than the maximum score, and while the monthly cost is around $60-$70, I've rated the price moderately since I haven't had to make significant claims yet. However, the overall comfort it offers for potential home repairs is well worth it.

My real estate broker recommended American Home Shield. This made it seem like a credible choice among so many options, especially for someone unsure about where to turn. I saw the benefit of having a home warranty as more economical in the long run. With repairs often being quite costly, having a warranty provides peace of mind, even though I've had varied experiences with service quality. At one of my properties in Long Branch, I faced an issue with my oven, and the contracted appliance service seemed fine in communication but had a significant delay with a part. I even had to follow up independently to speed up the process. Previously, their service had been timelier with other repairs, but this time around, it left much to be desired.

When it comes to American Home Shield contractors, my experience has been mixed, particularly with plumbing and electrical services. In several instances, I've had to hire additional help because the initial contractors couldn't adequately address the problems. For instance, I ended up hiring an independent plumber more capable for certain tasks despite having already paid American Home Shield’s service fee. Navigating the American Home Shield online portal was relatively straightforward, and I didn't face any issues there. However, once, when transferring coverage from one property to another, it took considerable time and effort because of errors made during what I thought was a completed purchase.

If I were to recommend American Home Shield, it would be on pragmatic grounds; the coverage helps bypass hefty repair cost surprises, but one needs to remain proactive with contractors. You still need to manage the process to ensure repairs are timely and correctly handled. Regardless, the platform has been beneficial for the coverage they provide, especially when multiple properties are involved.

In my recent experience with a service claim, Cabot Mechanical came out to address an issue with my air conditioner. The technician installed a part, possibly a fan or motor, since the unit was producing a lot of noise. Though it works, the noise has only worsened, becoming intrusive enough to disturb my neighbor who lives closest to it.

The technician, an older gentleman, acknowledged the issue but dismissed it, suggesting it might get better over time, which unfortunately hasn't been the case. Although I appreciate American Home Shield for generally treating me fairly over the years, and I understand handling multiple companies can sometimes be challenging, this recent issue with my AC unit has been disappointing.

I'd rate my current experience with American Home Shield between a 2 and a 3, leaning towards a 2 based on this incident.

I sent in a service request through the app when the cooling line kept freezing up. There was a cooling leak within the upper section of the attic. The compressor was not seated properly, so that made more noise and more agitation to the wear and tear. The fan was way beyond its limits. The contractor was very professional, straightforward, and knew what he was doing. He showed me what I needed to look out for. He performed firsthand maintenance so I wouldn't have to worry for the next six months. It does what it's supposed to do. My house is cool regularly. Not having to work hard at all or most of the time, and I sleep cool at night.

Compared to other contractors that have been sent over, Comfort First was more in-depth with the service that they provided. They were more in-depth with the explanation, what I need to look out for, what I need to make sure it's covered. The contractor that came out here to fix up my AC did a phenomenal job. I would hope that they could improve the choice of contractor within certain areas for people. If there was a way I can select them every time for AC services and HVAC unit upkeep, I would want to pick them. But I understand that within the network and some things happen, and conflicts of schedule, it tends to vary. But If that could be improved to add it into the user interface or the app, I would love the choice of close area contractor for certain services.

Overall, American Home Shield is by far one of the best home warranties I've had. There were two others, but I'd either have to wait three to four weeks till I heard something back, or I just don't get the best service at all. I'm just told something halfway through, and then that's just the end of it. But when I put in a request for the AC, I got a phone call back within 24 hours, and we just went from there.

I've been with American Home Shield for over six years now, primarily because of the dependable services they've typically provided. However, my recent experience was a bit frustrating due to the lack of effective communication. When I had an issue with a hot water heater, there was confusion about the repair process. They outsourced customer service calls overseas, which made it challenging to get clear and consistent information. Only after speaking with someone stateside did we resolve the situation efficiently. Despite the hiccup, the technician from Lux Plumbing was very professional. He identified the problem quickly but faced delays due to the back-and-forth communication required with American Home Shield. It’s worth noting that once I could speak to someone in the U.S., the issue was resolved swiftly within ten minutes.

Although this was my first problematic incident in over half a decade, and it was troubling, it wasn't enough to shake my overall trust in their service. It did, however, highlight the potential risk of two changes - outsourcing customer service and the inconvenience it brings, especially for someone like me who’s not very tech-savvy. I truly appreciate the support they normally provide, especially as I’m a disabled veteran and value service without unnecessary complications. Overall, while I experienced some challenges, I'm hopeful for smooth experiences moving forward.

I bought my house in '23. They wanted to give me a different home policy. I did some research on American Home Shield was the best one at the time. I asked for American Home Shield instead of the company that the company suggested. I've submitted two or three claims over my 2.5 years with them, but all were denied. Most recently, I tried to cancel my policy due to dissatisfaction with their service. In a final attempt to retain me, they offered to address a gas leak near my pool. Although they sent someone to inspect it for free, the claim was subsequently denied, as it wasn’t covered under my policy. This was very upsetting because I explicitly explained the issue beforehand.

The customer service isn't much help either. Whenever I've had to call, I typically speak to international representatives who are very hard to understand, with nobody addressing my concerns effectively until I speak to someone while trying to cancel. My interactions with their website weren't better; it's outdated and challenging to navigate. Locating my policy details was tedious, and even when I did, I frequently found the description too generic and lacking clarity.

The dissatisfaction extended to false advertising concerning HVAC services. They promote an HVAC tune-up which they told me only covers heating during specific months. When I followed up for an air conditioning service, I was charged despite their initial promise. The experience pushed me to the brink, and now I plan not to renew this year. Requests for second opinions haven’t been honored either, adding to the impression that service providers aim to avoid work once they've collected the upfront copay.

My experience with American Home Shield this time was just okay. My main concern is the lack of actual 24/7 service availability, especially on weekends. I discovered that when you call over the weekend, you end up waiting until Monday for contact, and then they say a technician will call you. However, this often means there's no same-day appointment. Essentially, from Friday to Monday, you're left without service options.

While filing a claim went smoothly and the $100 fee was taken without issue, the problem lies in the service availability. I understand it's a busy world, but I believe if it's claimed as 24/7 service, it should be available whenever I need it, even on weekends. It can make a significant difference, especially in urgent situations. Considering my overall experience, I'd rate it a 3 out of 5.

I was surprised to find out through Sewer Medic that my home wasn't up to code. This led to me having to pay $1,000 out of my pocket since American Home Shield did not cover those costs. Despite them informing me about my drainage pipe, hoses, and a release thing being replaced, it felt overpriced for something I could have possibly managed myself.

Having been with them since around 2011, I've contacted them about three times. My experiences were somewhat underwhelming due to their reluctance to replace appliances with exactly what I had before—often offering lesser alternatives due to time lapse, which meant I'd end up paying more. When dealing with my sewer setup, I felt frustrated. American Home Shield mentioned the issue being with my home's coding. Unfortunately, this meant the warranty didn't apply, leaving me disappointed as this wasn't clear upfront or in their advertisements. After repeated call outs and paying charges, American Home Shield sent a technician to inspect it. The technician wrote a report stating that some components were missing and that it wasn’t covered by my policy. This led to some frustration as I expected the malfunction due to wear and tear to be covered.

I expressed my displeasure and sought a second opinion. A different team was sent, but they pointed out a different issue, claiming external factors caused the problem. That resulted in more confusion, and it felt like I might get a different diagnosis with every visit. Annoyed, I brought in my own technician who quickly resolved the issue, attributing it to wear and tear and fixing it at a minimal cost. When I approached American Home Shield about covering necessary repairs due to wear and tear, I was dissatisfied because they seemed to evade responsibility.

My most recent experience with American Home Shield involved a frustrating situation with my kitchen stove. It simply wouldn't work, and the first technician who came out seemed to think I, being a woman, might not understand the complexities of appliance repairs. He moved some wiring and discovered that mice had chewed through the wires under the glass top, and somehow got it running again. However, the stove stopped working the same evening after he left.

Subsequently, another technician from a different company was sent, and he was much kinder and more respectful. He explained that the stove was beyond repair due to the wiring damage. Now, I'm awaiting further information from American Home Shield regarding my coverage and whether I qualify for a replacement or reimbursement since I am unsure about the extent of my premium coverage.

Throughout this process, I found the lack of communication from American Home Shield frustrating. There were no updates, phone calls, or emails from them to inform me about the progress of my claim, leaving me completely in the dark. I wish there was better follow-up and transparency about what's being done and what they've discovered.

Overall, my experience with American Home Shield hasn't been great, and I would rate their service a 2 out of 5. More communication and improved customer interaction would certainly go a long way in enhancing their service.

Initially, Fletcher Heating and Air came out and said my compressor was the issue. They ended up damaging my fan and had the audacity to suggest I just put a brick on it to fix the noise. It was a frustrating and unbelievable suggestion. When I reached out to American Home Shield for another opinion, they sent Jody Miller Heating and Cooling LLC. This company revealed the poor job Fletcher had done, and I was left weeks without clear support from American Home Shield while they puzzled over how to proceed.

When I finally got a response, the company proposed a buyout instead of fixing the issue for much less than what I’d hoped would be their maximum payout. This was particularly frustrating as I had paid out-of-pocket costs that didn’t get covered. Their customer service left much to be desired, often vague and not giving clear answers coverage-wise. I found the representative’s information on plans misleading, which directly affected my expenses, like the hefty front-loaded cost for Freon.

The company's approach to selecting contractors seems lackadaisical, and reviewing other customer feedback confirmed a pattern of subpar performance—which simply felt ignored by the American Home Shield team. Their customer website, while adequate at first glance, doesn't provide much confidence in their transparency or coverage.

I’m incredibly dissatisfied and would most definitely give American Home Shield a -5 if I could. The customer service associates seemed configured to defer and deflect, leading to a poor rate as it doesn’t reflect the training I expect from a company’s first line. Overall, I felt deceived and unsupported which feels unaligned with being a valued consumer, so I cannot recommend their service at this point.

I like American Home Shield. Not too long ago, I faced issues with my refrigerator and oven. The refrigerator needed a compressor replacement and a part from the oven required rebuilding. I contacted American Home Shield and they sent ATL Agile Repair Inc. to handle the repairs. This company has visited multiple times for various issues, and they've always been very professional and courteous.

I usually file claims over the phone or online, both methods are user-friendly. However, I receive no prior information about the contractors before they arrive, which can be a bit concerning. The contractors worked efficiently to fix the problems and if needed, they returned promptly, which was a relief.

I appreciate not having to worry about who to contact when something breaks and the reassurance that issues will be warrantied. It's comforting knowing that if a problem persists, the repair team will come back to address it. However, I must mention the cost of the service can be steep; still, it's like a safety net for home appliances.

When friends or family inquire about American Home Shield, I'd point out it's a bit pricey, but for the peace of mind and coverage, it's worth it. For instance, replacing the refrigerator compressor was an $800 expense covered through the service, something I would have otherwise had to pay for myself.

Overall, rating the services: customer service and user interface of the online tools score high, around 4.5 or 5, though I'm less thrilled with the pricing, which would rate closer to a 2 or 3. Despite this, I've been very impressed by their efficient handling of repairs and the assurance of warranty services.

I went with American Home Shield for my home warranty needs and I've been with them for almost three years now. My most recent experience involved Valley Plumbing coming out to fix a couple of issues with my water heater and leakage, and I'm pleased to report that they resolved the problem effectively. The technicians sent by AHS have always been professional and knowledgeable, which I truly appreciate.

However, my experience hasn't always been smooth. While the technicians themselves perform well, the process leading to their assignment can be frustrating. AHS often takes a considerable amount of time to assign a technician, and updates on the status are sometimes vague or delayed. I've had instances where assigning a technician has taken one to two weeks with minimal communication, which can be quite bothersome.

There was a particular situation last year when my microwave had an issue – it was great that a technician was quickly assigned, and the issue was resolved smoothly. But when my dishwasher faced problems shortly after, the wait for a technician extended to three or four weeks. It was puzzling because I was eventually told that no technician could be found, leaving me to arrange for my own and then seek reimbursement from AHS. The frustration was heightened by the time spent without a working dishwasher.

Despite these challenges, the technicians themselves continue to provide solid service, offering advice and addressing issues professionally. My overall experience with AHS is a bit of a mixed bag - it's neither consistently excellent nor entirely lacking, hence my moderate rating of 3 out of 5. While there's room for improvement in terms of administrative efficiency and clarity, the technical competence displayed by the vetted vendors is generally commendable.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield regarding my AC maintenance, carried out by Capital Cooling Services. My experience requesting service with them has been smooth, as they usually schedule a visit swiftly and efficiently.

The contractor they sent out was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions comprehensively. While the maintenance was routine and I didn't notice significant differences after it was completed, the regular check-up seemed thorough.

In the past, I've faced a few issues with the technicians sent by American Home Shield. Some were less knowledgeable, notably one instance where earlier technicians missed identifying tangled components in the attic. Fortunately, later on, a more astute technician discovered the issue, explained it to me, and addressed the problem.

After considering various options, I went with American Home Shield for my home warranty needs, but my experience leaves much room for improvement. While the air conditioning issue I dealt with involved just a simple clogged drain that was sorted out by vacuuming it with no issues, I have broader concerns. I appreciate both the efficiency and professionalism of the air conditioning company American Home Shield sent, as my experience with them was satisfactory.

However, my satisfaction with American Home Shield is diminished due to several factors. For instance, I've faced limitations with coverage. While they cover my pool, my attached hot tub isn't, which seems illogical and quite frustrating. These kinds of discrepancies make me reassess if it’s worth holding onto their services, especially considering other instances when necessary repairs weren’t included.

Moreover, communicating with customer service can be trying. There's often a notable accent barrier, making conversations lengthy and exasperating as representatives repeatedly apologize or express understanding without progressing the issue.

I initially considered a higher rating but given the coverage gaps and communication challenges—the overall cost being another consideration—I'd have to rate American Home Shield a 2.5 out of 5. I genuinely value good service but need better coverage, contractor quality, and clearer communication to justify continuing with American Home Shield.

Having chosen American Home Shield, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I initially encountered a problem with my furnace, which led to a replacement. Yet, despite this, the core issue persisted. The technicians even suggested downgrading the filter, but that too failed to address the problem as the same issue continued with the filter they provided.

I reached out to American Home Shield to seek assistance, but was met with unhelpful responses. They wanted me to cover costs for changing a filter they had previously replaced. The whole situation felt misleading, leaving my requests unresolved and highlighting a lack of cooperation from the company.

My interactions don't end there. I had issues with leaking faucets, and after the plumber's initial visit, they promised a follow-up to replace a part. However, they continuously dodged my calls, giving me false appointments and simply not showing up, even after raising the matter with a manager.

In terms of customer service, while representatives remained polite, they consistently deferred to contractors instead of proactively resolving issues. This has resulted in my dissatisfaction, rating the service only 1 out of 5 stars. When considering the quality of their customer service interactions, coupled with the cost of their services, I would rate each of these aspects just a 2. The only silver lining is their online portal, which is easy to navigate, and I’d give that a 5. Given these experiences, I regret choosing American Home Shield and cannot recommend their services to others.

I needed help with home appliance repairs and it's been somewhat of a mixed experience with American Home Shield. I've been dealing with an issue with my refrigerator's ice maker. Initially, technicians worked on it twice, but the problem persisted. We suspect it's a bad sensor, but we'll need another visit to confirm.

As for customer service, our communication with American Home Shield has been primarily through text messaging, which has been fine overall. However, when my washer broke down, though the company made me an offer I ultimately accepted, it didn't match what my daughter considered to be a fair replacement, as the same model wasn't available anymore.

Despite this experience, I wouldn't call it entirely negative, as the service company they sent has been pretty decent. I was introduced to American Home Shield after purchasing a new home because their home warranty was included in our contract. Previously, I'd had some frustrating experiences with other home warranty services. After hearing my parents consistently praise American Home Shield, I decided to give it a try.

Our initial experience involved a hiccup with one of our air conditioning units. It unexpectedly stopped working, and when we reported it, Three Brothers AC and Heating was dispatched. They swiftly fixed the issue with a small part they had on hand, which was quite efficient. Initially, I tried to file the claim through the app, but encountered issues as it didn't provide the correct options. This led me to use their automated phone system, which turned out to be quick and straightforward.

The technician from Three Brothers was professional and efficient, and they informed me after the fact that the issue had been resolved at no extra cost. Although I appreciate the urgent response, I wish there was more proactive care before things break down. I feel this could extend the lifespan of our equipment instead of only addressing complete failures.

While the service personnel have been commendable and responsive, I've been a bit disappointed in the app's functionality which doesn't always offer accurate service request options. On the financial side, I find the cost of $100 per service call is a bit steep, making some repairs barely worth the price if they are minor.

Overall, American Home Shield's responsiveness and reliability in dealing with issues have been satisfactory, even if the proactive measures could use some enhancement. This combination has led to positive experiences thus far.

After closing our new house, I was driven by the convenience that American Home Shield advertised. Since then, our experience has been a mix of satisfaction and room for improvement. Our first claim was with Pinedo Air for a preseason checkup, and we were genuinely pleased. The technician was professional, timely and even walked us through the efficiency status of our dated system, which was a reassuring interaction.

Having them through our home purchase, we've encountered a couple of challenges, like a clogged kitchen sink. It was fixed promptly after they sent someone to snake it out. However, when we faced more significant hurdles, like placing a dishwasher, we ended up handling it on our own. An unexpected electrical issue also arose due to a configuration we weren’t aware of. Fortunately, the technician’s insight helped us solve it, though no further engagement or offer to assist with upgrades was received.

The main concern happened with customer service. Last fall, we tried to secure the advertised free HVAC check-up, only to be misinformed by offshore support about service availability, contradicting the initial offer. Communication efforts were frustrating; a callback promise went unmet and left a bitter aftertaste that slightly overshadows their proactive problem-solving instances.

American Home Shield’s approach to service delivery and follow-through could use a boost based on these experiences. While their chosen contractors often do a solid job, logistical delays have been an irritant. They did, however, send capable plumbers and technicians when they successfully coordinated efforts.

Overall, my interaction thus far leaves me at a three out of five in satisfaction. There’s clear potential in American Home Shield, bolstered by competent reps who still need administrative polish in their support offerings. This keeps me cautiously optimistic, with room for improvement as my experiences continue.

American Home Shield has been very good to get me in touch with a provider who can do whatever I need done. I have been quite satisfied with their service. I've been with them for close to five years now and I find their service to be both reliable and reasonably priced. One feature that stands out is their prompt response, typically getting in touch with a provider within two or three days to address any issues, unless I contact them just before the weekend.

For instance, I had a significant plumbing issue recently, and American Home Shield connected me with Summer’s Plumbing in Spokane, who were absolutely marvelous. They had to address a serious leak involving our hot water line, along with some minor bathroom shower issues. The technicians were diligent, working until the problem was fully resolved, and kept me informed throughout the process. Their level of communication and professionalism was exemplary, and I would not hesitate to recommend Summer’s Plumbing to anyone in need of plumbing services.

I have also leaned on American Home Shield for various other home needs, including HVAC and air conditioning issues, and they've consistently dispatched proficient and amiable service providers. Their monthly payment option, rather than a large upfront fee, makes it feasible for my budget, and that flexibility is appreciated.

My husband was starting to travel more with his job and it would be beneficial to have a service handle general maintenance and unexpected problems. My washer had a broken lock, which prevented it from draining, the dishwasher failed to dry dishes properly, and the freezer wasn't producing ice. So, it seemed like the right moment to utilize the service.

Submitting a claim was straightforward, thanks to the app's user-friendly interface. I just input the necessary details about each problem. This process went smoothly, and I received timely updates about the appointment. However, the actual service experience was a letdown. While the contractor was punctual, his solutions didn’t resolve any of the issues I faced. My mom, who interacted with him on my behalf, noted his confidence, but it felt like every suggestion was more about workaround solutions than fixing the root problems.

For example, he suggested a product like Jet-Dry for the dishwasher. I called him multiple times and I didn’t get a response. My husband finally got ahold of him but he said he wasn’t gonna be there for another four days. So, my husband had to install some of it himself, such as the washer’s lock, which invalidated the need for professional service in the first place.

When the contractor installed the new ice machine on the freezer, he said my water was not hooked up yet and I just need a new filter and it should start. But he never helped or realized that I didn't know how to hook up the water. That was what he was there for and that was not the case. With the dishwasher, he said it was on the wrong setting, which was why it was not working. But he told me on his last visit that we weren't always supposed to put the heat on. And it wasn't working anyway, so I turned it off. But he replaced it and never ran it through a cycle to see if it then fixed the issue. And it certainly did not.

Communicating with the contractor for a follow-up was frustrating, too. Despite assurances of being able to quickly reschedule, we experienced multiple delays and it took substantial effort to get another appointment. In the end, my attempted fixes didn't yield the results I'd hoped for, leaving me considering canceling the service.

While the app and portal proved effective, the overall service did not. I felt that I'd put down significant money every month without gaining the support promised. Reflecting on my experience, I can't help but feel disappointed. It's been a challenging journey, and unless there's a resolution, I see little value in continuing with American Home Shield.

Having owned my house for about two years, I've been a customer of American Home Shield for the same duration, as it was part of the offer when I purchased my home. As someone who is new to owning a house, the main value I derive from having their service is the sense of security and peace of mind.

A recent service interaction I had was when A Plus Heating and Air Conditioning visited my home for a routine check-up on my air conditioner. They initially informed me that everything was okay, but then mentioned that two items needed fixing, costing me $550. As a person from Alaska, I'm not familiar with air conditioners, so I had to trust their expertise, although I was taken aback by the cost, especially since my unit is relatively new, having been installed in 2018.

In terms of their service, there was a minor scheduling hiccup initially, but when the technicians did arrive, they were punctual and efficient. They explained that they needed to source parts from Palm Springs, which added to the surprise of potentially unnecessary expenses, reinforced by a friend's advice post-service that I should have been more cautious. Ultimately, these costs added up unexpectedly, dampening my satisfaction.

Despite my mixed experience with the specific service incident, American Home Shield as a whole hasn't posed any significant issues for me. I've found their overall service to be reliable, and in terms of rating, I'd comfortably give them a four out of five.

I've been with American Home Shield for eight years now. One notable experience involved a claim for a hot water heater replacement. I submitted the claim online, which was simple and user-friendly. However, a significant downside has been the partnership with their plumbing service. The plumbers tend to overcharge significantly, effectively making American Home Shield's intervention quite redundant in terms of cost. When my repair issues remained unresolved, I ended up opting for a cash-out and hired an independent plumber for the work. While navigating these challenges, I would rate my overall experience with American Home Shield around a 3. Their customer service is reflective of that middling experience as well. There's room for improvement, primarily by collaborating with more reputable and cost-effective service providers.

We encountered an issue with our hot water heater, which had reached the end of its lifespan after many years of service. Filing the claim with American Home Shield was quite smooth. My husband called to report the problem, and the process was handled efficiently.

The plumber who assessed our situation confirmed that we needed a new unit. The only slight hiccup in the process was waiting to receive the new unit, and there was a communication gap regarding a part of the repair. However, once everything was sorted, they arrived on time and installed the water heater smoothly.

Since the replacement, everything has been working perfectly. I've had prior experiences with AHS, like when our dryer needed service, and American Home Shield consistently resolved our issues without a hitch.

The tech sent by American Home Shield was impressive, and I had worked with him previously, which added to my comfort level. However, I found the policy on parts coverage somewhat lacking, as when my refrigerator door handle cracked, it wasn't covered. Luckily, the technician who knew the situation assisted me outside the warranty coverage.

Despite this shortcoming, the customer service team stands out as knowledgeable and helpful, which enhances the overall experience. Given these mixed experiences, I'd rate my satisfaction at around a 4.

I've been a customer of AHS since January, and recently handled a claim for the annual maintenance of my central air and heat pump units. The online submission process was relatively straightforward.

What I like most about American Home Shield is the peace of mind. It's reassuring to know that if anything major breaks down, it’s covered, and at a cost that feels affordable. However, they could improve by creating specific categories for annual maintenance, as the current set-up caused some confusion when I was trying to file my claim. I wasn’t initially sure if my request was being considered as a simple service or a breakdown issue, although we managed to sort it out.

I encountered an issue with my air conditioner’s compressor, which had completely failed. When I reached out to American Home Shield, they confirmed that the unit needed replacement. They offered a cash buyout, which was a small amount compared to the estimated replacement cost of over $10,000 that they quoted through a partner company. I opted to handle the replacement independently as I found a significantly better deal elsewhere.

The service technician sent by American Home Shield was thorough and helpful in diagnosing the problem. However, my main concern was with the high replacement quote provided. Considering a previous experience last year when they replaced another unit for almost half the cost, I was surprised by the increased expense this time, which was attributed to tariffs.

Overall, while the contractor experience was positive, I expected more support from AHS in terms of reasonable cost options. It's important as an equipment warranty company to offer viable alternatives, especially when such costly replacements are involved. In my opinion, this aspect could be improved.

I needed assistance with my gas oven, which wasn't heating properly. When Sears came through American Home Shield, they diagnosed the problem as an issue with a valve and a burner. The parts were ordered, and while the valve arrived pretty promptly within a week, the burner didn’t make it on time. The technician completed his work with the existing parts at first but had to return when the issue persisted, eventually needing three visits over two months to resolve everything.

I've had some mixed experiences in terms of timeliness. On a previous occasion, they handled a washing machine component replacement in a more acceptable time frame, though I still felt it took a bit longer than it should have. While the service was courteous and the pricing seemed reasonable, the delay in repairs can be challenging when dealing with crucial appliances.

For customer service interaction, I'd rate an honest 4 out of 5, given their promptness in setting up appointments. On the price point for the warranty itself, I'd also give it a 4, considering it seemed fair at first glance. However, the two-month wait on an oven repair does exert the patience.

Residential Maintenance was sent out for a repair on my AC. They ordered parts and they supposedly repaired it, but then it still wasn't cooling properly. So then I told them to come back out. They didn't feel like coming back out, so American Home Shield transferred my claim to another vendor, Elite Maintenance. They came out and their tech was professional. He said the compressor needed to be changed, but when they reported it to American Home Shield, they wanted another opinion. It was getting ridiculous and it shouldn't be ongoing with that many people come out.

But then another company came out, Fix Dat Appliance Services. They also said the compressor was gone and needed to be replaced. Quickly, they went ahead and settled that. The compressor issue was acknowledged, and I was reimbursed, but this dragged on for two months and the whole process got confusing. The contractors they sent were generally professional, but I felt American Home Shield could have handled the situation more effectively. For instance, they doubted the competency of vendors, which seemed like an attempt to dodge covering replacements.

Relating to customer service, it was frustrating. Some representatives didn't communicate effectively, and I am not confident in how they handled my concerns. Nevertheless, the website was practical, though sometimes limited in functionality, compelling me to resort to phone interactions. In reflection, I give American Home Shield a 3 for overall experience due to their slow and cumbersome service process. My advice: be persistent if similar service roadblocks occur.

I moved into my new condo in June last year and found myself facing some challenges. My dishwasher has been troublesome from the start, so I made a claim with American Home Shield. Working in the logistics industry meant I initially submitted it when it was a hectic period at work, and someone came out to service it. Unfortunately, the repair wasn't complete, and as I rarely eat or cook at home, it wasn’t an urgent issue. However, at the beginning of the new year, I made another attempt to resolve this by filing another claim. Although I understood the need to pay another fee as part of their policy, the issue persisted despite multiple service visits by different repair companies. Complicating matters further, the repair wasn’t done correctly, which led to more problems, like a hose not being attached properly, causing a mess in my cabinet.

Attempting to go through American Home Shield rather than dealing directly with contractors, I felt a lack of communication as I would get unexpected texts from the providers showing up without appointments, leaving me puzzled and frustrated. It increasingly seemed like the contractors lacked the necessary expertise or motivation to fully resolve the issue. I was unsure if my frustration should be directed toward the dishwasher, the contractors, or American Home Shield's vetting process of these contractors.

So far, I've only had one other minor claim with the company, which was resolved without issues. However, this prolonged dishwasher problem leaves me questioning the relationship between American Home Shield and the technicians they use. It feels like there might be an incentive misalignment; perhaps they rush to complete jobs rather than ensuring they are done right initially. The overall service didn’t meet expectations, and I'm left hoping for improvement.

Unfortunately, after 40 days, the identical issue resurfaced in the exact same spot. According to their policy, since it was beyond the 30-day window, I had to initiate a new claim. While this was frustrating, the real issue arose when I explicitly requested a different contractor, only to have the same company return to address the issue.

Communication during this process seemed to falter, as my request to avoid repeat service from the initial company was not honored. Though the second visit ultimately fixed the issue, the inconvenience added unnecessary stress, especially with a significant water leak. Offering customers a choice of contractors and extending the service guarantee period would significantly enhance customer satisfaction. Review: Ongoing Unresolved Washer Repair Claim Since February I’ve previously had successful resolutions with this home warranty company, but my most recent experience has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating. I submitted a claim in February for a washer repair, and as of today, April 7th, the issue is still unresolved.

Despite a scheduled appointment on March 19th, I was later told by Lisa that the part would be ordered and in by then. An appointment was scheduled for March 25th, but no one called or showed up. When I followed up, I was told that the part had not been ordered, and that it was on backorder—a complete contradiction from what I was told earlier.

I’ve missed work to be available for technicians, only to be told (on the day of the appointment) that nothing was ready. I’ve spent countless hours calling—multiple times per day—since April 2nd, trying to speak with the escalation department, with no meaningful resolution. To make matters worse, I was told that I canceled the repair because I had allegedly purchased a new washer—which I did not. I’ve never made such a statement and have been trying to confirm who reported that false information.

Communication has been difficult, with many representatives being non-English speakers, creating barriers to getting accurate updates. When I spoke with someone today, they reiterated Whirlpool’s claim that I refused service—which is simply untrue. Whirlpool subcontracted the repair to S and S, who have since emailed confirmation that the required part is on backorder.

I’ve forwarded all documentation to my assigned escalation specialist, who was supposed to provide daily updates but has not contacted me since 4/2. I have a household of six and have been spending $150 at the laundromat every two weeks. This has been an exhausting, expensive, and completely avoidable ordeal. I need immediate resolution and accountability for the misinformation and delays.

Second thing, they just increased their monthly fee by 50% and claimed it was due to increased material costs. Because I just noticed it after 60 days had passed, they "can't" make a change to my plan. WARNING!!! DO NOT GET A SERVICE CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN HOME SHIELD (AHS). I have been a customer of AHS since 2017 in multiple different states and have referred all of my homeowner friends to them until now. My problems with them started when I moved to the current state that I am in, more specifically in reference to my kitchen refrigerator ice maker. I have filed several claims with AHS and have had multiple companies come to my house over the last three years (2023, 2024, and 2025) to repair this ice maker. I have spent over $700.00 in claim fees and have had my monthly month fee raised from $100.00 to $133.00 due to the issues with the ice maker.

It is extremely frustrating to be on the phone with this company which has accumulated over 20 hours of my time explaining this same issue for the last three years and still do not have a functioning ice maker. With all the claim fees I have filed I could have purchased a brand new refrigerator by now. In Mar of 2025 (3 years later, and a promise to report them to the Better Business Bureau) they have finally decided that they cannot fix my ice maker and have offered me money or a Lowes gift card to replace my refrigerator.

To make this very long story short they offered me $1,000.00 for my refrigerator which is currently valued at $5,863.98. I am not even asking them for the full value of my refrigerator, I have found one at Lowes for half this cost that has all of the same functions of my old one and they will not even accommodate that! If you are looking for a company that only wants your money, disregards your personal time, drags out appliance repairs for years, has scripted customer service so much so that it overpowers their willingness to listen to you then this is the company for you. Unfortunately the reviews wouldn’t let me give them a zero star review.

I have two air conditioning units in my home. For the four-ton unit, American Home Shield sent out Burleson, the air conditioning company that they have a contract with in my area. They came to the house on February 14th. I did not get a compressor and that the job was complete until March 31st. I was out of air conditioning for a good six weeks. But it was nothing to do with Burleson, it was all American Home Shield. They would order the part, but the part would get canceled. They kept messing up the ordering. Even Burleson was having a very difficult time dealing with them.

I was calling the escalations, but they were calling authorization and whoever they have to call. They'd be on hold extensive period of time. It's ridiculous that you're on hold. I've been on the phone with American Home Shield in reference to my air conditioning problems at times up to three hours just trying to get to talk to somebody in escalations. When you call in, the first person in the call center asks all your information. Then they put me on hold and my calls get dropped. I don't know if it's my service where I'm at or if they're just dropping me, or they're telling me they're putting me on hold then a few minutes later, the call ends and I have to call back again.

Every time I call back, I get a different service person at the main call center. I have to go through the whole thing again - my name, my phone number, my email address, which property is it as I have several homes with American Home Shield, etc. It's very frustrating. One person at the call center in the escalations department even had the nerve to tell me that I needed to email the supervisor. Finally, things were supposed to be rolling along. I got these emails from American Home Shield about a ticket that's been created. But Burleson calls and the parts are not at the parts center. They called to find out what happened, and they were told they’ve been canceled.

With my two-ton air conditioning unit, that is the issue going on right now. When Burleson came out on the 14th of February, they also checked my two-ton unit ‘cause it wasn't cooling enough. I got a phone call yesterday evening from a supervisor in escalations. The rep told me that I'm going to get a brand-new two-ton air conditioning unit. This was supposed to be going on back in February. Back in 2022, I had problems going on with my two-ton unit. Even that time, it was horrible. It was July or August of that year through November, that poor Jonathan from Air Pro had to keep coming back to my house. He would get to the parts center, but the part is not there. He'd be ordering things that I would need, but they would get canceled.

When talking to Burleson afterwards when they went up and looked at the unit, they said I have a 2007 air handler, which is up in the attic, and a 2022 heat pump. They're mismatched. American Home Shield and I were going back and forth about that and trying to find another air handler. I was talking to the escalations department in reference to this, telling them their vendor did it. They were trying to deny my claim.

Back in March 4th, they told me I was getting a new two-ton unit. Burleson is waiting on the confirmation that the two-ton unit was moved from the Sanford distribution center to the distribution center that they normally use with American Home Shield in Ocala. They told me that as soon as they get confirmation of that, then they'll schedule up for someone to come out and replace my two-ton unit.

My experience is not a very good one, but that's just for one of the houses. I have had things done last year at another house that I have. Different appliances had to be replaced and it's been a pretty good experience. I had an oven, a dishwasher, and a washing machine replaced. The guys that delivered the oven misconnected something and the motherboard of the oven wasn't working. They had to get a part right off the bat and get that fixed. It was taken care of within a week.

The washing machine would go all the way up until it wasn't doing any of the rinse and spin cycles. It was a weekend so I didn’t even bother calling American Home Shield. I went to their website and put the claim through. The site was user-friendly and easy for me to navigate. I got a text message and it said to call. We did, and my husband set it up because the repair guy was going to do a video first to see if they needed to physically be there or if he could tell my husband what to do from the codes that the machine was giving. The guy was able to walk my husband through what to do from the video. He spent a lot of time with my husband and was patient. My husband was happy with how everything went, and the washing machine worked.

I've had some issues with American Home Shield in the past. They recommend people to come out to your home but I don’t know how they pick them out. But if they tell me a company's coming to my home, the first thing I'm doing is to read reviews on the company. I cancelled once because AHS was sending somebody out to my house, and the reviews on this company were horrific. So I didn't want them coming to my house. I asked about another company and AHS couldn't make adjustments. So, it is hit and miss. The last time I was on the phone with someone, I wasn't happy when I hung up with them. And I was not happy that AHS was not willing to at least get the best person in my home. I ended up paying out of pocket for the service because I wanted the best plumbers in my house.

We went without the warranty for a while, but it felt a little risky. If I had to pay a $100 co-pay versus calling someone, it would still be cheaper with the plan. When the washing machine had an issue, I didn’t have to stress about who to call or what to do. I knew it was covered. But I'm not happy that AHS is raising the price but they don't tell you. They just do it, and it comes out and there's nothing said. I understand prices go up, but it would be nice to know. I didn't know that until I was just going through my bank account to see what bills went through.

Since I've joined AHS, the price has gone up twice and that rubs me wrong. They should let the consumer know, so I at least have that option of knowing that. When I first started, it was 50 bucks and then that went up to 100. Right now, it seems like it's happening every year. And I started thinking how often I use this the warranty and if what I’m paying a year at this point is worth it. I try to weigh that out. But I don’t want to just have my money taken without any information unless I call and ask if they have raised their price again. I don't want to have to seek it out.

I called American Home Shield to submit my claim for my ice maker and refrigerator, and they promptly arranged for Accord Appliance LLC to come out. However, the process was quite frustrating due to multiple cancellations by the contractor, which resulted in a delay of nearly a month before anyone showed up. When the contractor finally arrived, his communication was lacking. He identified the issue with the refrigerator and promised to order the necessary part, but the time taken for both the part and the final fix was too long. Although this particular contractor was not satisfactory, I believe the problem lies with him and not American Home Shield itself. Overall, I have been with American Home Shield for a while and generally find their service to be good, rating them a 4 out of 5. They have typically handled things well, even though this incident was less than ideal.

The technicians who came were very polite, nice, and expedient in their work, which I appreciated. Though it wasn't a claim, but a standard yearly maintenance check, everything went smoothly. In terms of my overall experience with American Home Shield, I'd highlight the time they helped replace my dishwasher after the third issue arose. American Home Shield's website doesn't describe the stuff in layman's terms. They're very confusing. "It's a plumbing issue. What's the plumbing? Do you have a leak? Do you have a stoppage?" I wanna see it in those words. I have to guess, and hope that when the contractor calls I can tell them, “Tub’s backed up.” They would say, “Okay. We'll be out tomorrow and snake it.” The techs are usually the same people every time, so I know them good now. The two recent guys first examined the tub to see what they needed to do. They brought in their new snake that one said that he likes and it works well. It took him five minutes and they pulled out some hair out of the drain.

My Whirlpool washing machine, which was only two years old, required significant repairs, needing a new motor and other parts. I couldn't believe it had failed so quickly, especially since we bought it from American Home Shield. I submitted a claim and their customer service was wonderful. The representative I spoke with was very helpful, and the technician who came from Sears to fix the machine was incredibly sweet.

Since the repair, the washing machine has been working well, almost like new with its brand-new insides. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been great. In '20, we purchased our house, which was built in 1995, knowing we'd eventually have to replace many of the appliances. With American Home Shield, nearly everything that's failed has been replaced seamlessly. The only items yet to be replaced are the microwave and the hot water heater, though the latter seems to be on its last legs as our hot showers don't last long anymore.

Despite the increased price of the warranty, I find it's been worth it, as it's essentially paid for itself over time. The cost feels rather expensive now, but given the overall service, I would rate it a 3 for pricing.

I've recommended American Home Shield to many people, and I rate my overall experience and their customer service a solid 5 out of 5.

The last claim was a leak, but it turned out to be the washer. A plumber came out and determined it wasn't a plumbing problem. When I submitted the claim online, there was some confusion regarding the billing. The system kept indicating I owed money, even after the issue was transferred to a repair person for the washer. After multiple calls to both the plumbing company and American Home Shield, I was told it would be resolved. The technician who came out eventually fixed the washer, and it’s been working fine since. I appreciate the contractors American Home Shield is using now, as they seem to be more reliable than in years past.

However, I have a significant concern regarding my water heater. My unit has an extra tank, which was code when my house was built. American Home Shield doesn't cover this type of water heater, despite it being a standard requirement in my area. This has been frustrating because it means they will never cover my water heater, which seems unfair as I didn’t choose this setup—it was mandated by building codes.

In terms of overall service, I would rate it a 4 out of 5, as I would recommend the service to others, but I advise being very specific about what's covered. For instance, if the plumbing had been the issue with my leak, American Home Shield would have covered sheetrock repairs. But since it was the washer, I am responsible for those repairs.

Hello Maria. Thank you for your feedback on your service calls. I am glad that AHS has generally been able to meet your expectations. We appreciate your business and the recommendations.

I was able to locate your service call with the water heater from several years ago. The notes indicate that the denial of coverage was due to secondary damage caused by the expansion tank. Secondary failures are not covered in the plan, but that does NOT mean that no failures of your water heater would ever be covered. In addition, you have the option to request a second opinion from a different vendor if coverage of a repair is denied.

I sent in a refrigerator claim to American Home Shield. Initially, it took a week to schedule the first appointment, which was frustrating. When the technician arrived, he didn't fix anything; he just confirmed what the problem was, which led to additional appointments. Overall, it took three weeks to resolve the issue, leaving me without a refrigerator during that time. This was extremely inconvenient as I had to manage without ice and constantly purchase water, not to mention the food loss I experienced.

When the appliance was finally fixed, I discovered that the refrigerator had been scratched during the process. I reached out to the repair company directly, hoping they would address the damage. However, their response was unsatisfying, as they asked me how I wanted it resolved instead of providing solutions. After I replied, they never contacted me back.

This wasn't the first hiccup with American Home Shield; I've noticed the same refrigerator problem recurring about once every year. Technicians mentioned that it could be due to the quality of the fridge, but it feels like a repetitive cycle of temporary fixes.

Moreover, the communication with the service company was problematic. The person handling my call was unprofessional, even hanging up on me when I voiced a legitimate concern. I had been advised to ensure the technician could fit into a tight space due to my kitchen layout, but my suggestion was disregarded.

I have been an American Home Shield customer for about eight years now, primarily for our lake home, which we moved into full-time and wanted to ensure it had coverage. My latest experience involved a claim for a dishwasher that wasn't cleaning properly and had water leaking from it. The process of submitting a claim online was straightforward and efficient. I was promptly informed via text and email about the contractor assigned to my case, which helped in making the transition smooth.

Sears, the contractor assigned, sent a knowledgeable technician who quickly diagnosed the issue and ordered the necessary parts. Unfortunately, the parts were unavailable, so American Home Shield approved a replacement dishwasher. I appreciated being able to choose the replacement model and the process was seamless until the installation phase.

However, the installation experience was quite frustrating. The original scheduled date changed unexpectedly, causing a lot of inconveniences. Despite me adjusting my schedule and canceling appointments, the initial agreed-upon timings weren’t honored. There was a significant communication gap with the installation company – one person gave me conflicting information, while multiple representatives provided varying details about the warehouse location. It required multiple calls and speaking with a warehouse manager to get the installation successfully rescheduled.

While American Home Shield itself was proactive and responsive during the claim, the hiccups with their chosen installation company were disappointing. This reflects on my overall experience because they are responsible for the vendors they hire. Despite these issues, I would still rate American Home Shield a four out of five, leaving room for improvement, especially in vendor collaboration.

In terms of what I like, the ease of accessing their website to file claims without needing to wait on the line to speak to someone is a standout feature. I have had no major setbacks and consider them a good choice, but improvements in the installation process and communication would make the service more reliable.

I am beyond frustrated with the way my case has been handled by this company. Our AC broke down on March 25, and the compressor needs to be replaced. Despite repeated calls to customer service, (they say they will call me back but they never did!) we have received no clear answers or urgency. I explained multiple times that we have a baby in the house and the indoor temperature is reaching 83°F, making it unbearable and unsafe.

On March 28, we were told that the necessary parts would not arrive until April 8—over two weeks from the date of the breakdown. This is completely unacceptable! Living in Las Vegas, the extreme heat is a serious health concern, and I’m deeply worried about the well-being of my baby, who could be at risk of serious health issues. Yet, all we’ve been told is to "wait." The lack of urgency or even basic concern for our safety is incredibly disappointing. This is not the service I signed up for, and I will not be renewing my contract. I strongly advise others to think twice before signing up with this company. There was a plumbing issue with my tub's drainage. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and their claim process was relatively easy. The contractor they sent managed to resolve the problem by sealing the drain, but I was surprised when he suggested I should clean out the drainage myself, even though I was paying for the service. He said he didn't do that and it seemed unusual that as a customer, I'd have to assist in the process. While inspected the sink as part of the evaluation and correctly pinpointed the leak’s source, I still felt his approach wasn't what I expected. I even called back the next day to express my concerns, as I didn't want the same contractor returning if I needed future assistance.

I've been using American Home Shield because, as a single homeowner, I rely on experts to help maintain my property without having to search around. I trust that they vet their service providers to ensure quality and reliability. However, my home is relatively new, and I don't use the warranty often, making the cost seem unjustifiable at times. I had an issue with my dryer. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and the service mechanic they sent out refused to clean out the duct behind it, which is a basic step. I ended up having to climb back there myself to do it, with the help of a neighbor. This clearly makes me feel like I'm paying for a service that I'm not receiving fully. When I needed my water heater serviced, I was told it was too old and needed replacement on my dime. I don't understand the logic since I'm paying for a warranty precisely to cover such issues. My appliances are old, like my house, and I'm not in the habit of replacing things that are still functional. This is why I maintain them yearly.

Another thing that frustrates me is the way they handle billing. They take payments every 30 days, which doesn't align perfectly with monthly bills, causing confusion and potentially costing me more throughout the year. In a previous incident, my toilet kept running, and when I contacted them, they couldn't initially find a contractor. I recommended Trombly since they are nearby, and they tried to fix the issue. When they couldn't repair it, American Home Shield approved the replacement after receiving pertinent information from Trombly. I've not faced any additional charges beyond the $125 service fee, and when needed, they took the necessary steps to resolve my issues. Their customer service, pricing, and online tools have been satisfactory.

Back in October, both my oven and washing machine had issues, so I filed a claim with them. The contractor they sent claimed there had been an electrical surge causing both appliances to fail simultaneously, which wasn't accurate. Despite clarifying the issues, he didn't file the necessary paperwork, and I got stuck in a cycle of constant follow-ups with American Home Shield. Each time I called, they kept delaying by saying they needed to give the contractor two more days to respond.

The lack of effective communication and resolution caused the repairs to stretch across several months. Unfortunately, this meant I was without my oven for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My washing machine only got repaired in January, and my oven wasn't fixed until February. As my contract with them was approaching renewal, I decided to cancel, but ended up being billed for the next month since I canceled a day too late.

Despite promising to refund me $125 during this ordeal, American Home Shield initially refused. Only after I escalated the issue did they finally remove the charge. This experience left me disappointed, especially considering I had been with them for a while and had issues with their contractors before. I'm now finished with them, although I used to have better experiences in the past.

In the past, I had a plumbing claim, but overall, my experience with the technicians and vendors they've sent out has been inconsistent. Some have been satisfactory, while others were disappointing. The significant price increase has influenced my decision to probably not continue with their services. I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5.

I had an issue with my washer that required multiple visits—four or five times in total—before the issue was resolved. The process was quite frustrating. Initially, the technicians from AZA repair seemed to rely on trial and error, replacing various parts without success. Eventually, they managed to fix it by replacing a sensor, and it has been working fine since.

The claims process with American Home Shield starts with a call to them, which involves a $125 service fee. They then contact a local professional, but this can take two to three weeks before someone comes out. This delay is inconvenient, especially for essential appliances like a washer.

Despite the eventual resolution, the prolonged repair process and the hassle involved were disappointing. A similar issue occurred with my refrigerator about a year and a half ago, which required eight to ten visits just to fix the ice maker. While I appreciate not having to pay the service fee repeatedly for the same issue, I find the whole experience of trial and error quite ineffective.

Based on these experiences, I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5. The company needs improvement in diagnosing issues accurately and reducing the time it takes to resolve them.

I submitted two claims to American Home Shield on the same day: one for a broken oven and another for a plumbing issue involving my garbage disposal and toilet. While the process of submitting the claims was smooth, getting them covered was a different story.

The claim for the oven was processed without any issues. However, the plumbing claim was denied because it was deemed a preexisting condition. The customer service representative from American Home Shield made it clear that because I submitted the claim on the day my policy became active, it wasn't covered. This was frustrating to hear, especially since I was told I needed an entirely new toilet when it turned out that only a bolt needed replacement. The situation was exacerbated when I was passed to a supervisor who essentially hung up on me after I expressed my frustration.

Adding to my discontent was the fact that I had been a loyal customer for seven years at my previous property, always paying on time and even referring others. Despite this, I was treated as a new customer with no consideration of my loyalty. The company's access to my previous policy history seemed nonexistent.

Eventually, we got the plumbing issue fixed at our own expense and the experience left me feeling undervalued as a customer. On a positive note, the repair of the oven, handled by a contractor sent by American Home Shield, went perfectly well. I decided to rate my overall experience with American Home Shield a 3 out of 5, factoring in both good and not-so-good moments, but their customer service received a 2. However, the price of the coverage takes a 4 due to a discount I received, which is appreciable. Overall, this episode was disheartening given my longstanding relationship with the company.

I had a disappointing experience with American Home Shield. Initially, I submitted my claim by phone, and the process was fairly straightforward. However, I only received limited information about the contractors, typically just their name.

The interaction with the contractor was terrible. He tried to overcharge me for Freon, demanding $1200 instead of the $250 it should have cost. I have a newer air conditioner model, and the Freon for it is $50 per pound, which totals $500 for the amount needed. This contractor clearly didn’t know or ignored this fact. Despite the coil being under warranty, the entire situation was mismanaged.

When I reached out to American Home Shield to explain the overcharging, they insisted on the $1200 price. I ended up using my air conditioning company, who also quoted $1200, but they replaced the coil, which wasn't covered under warranty.

I later contacted their complaint department, where Michelle was helpful enough to investigate further. She realized the coil should have been covered under warranty and advised me not to accept the initial $125 settlement they offered me online. That was three weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back from them.

Overall, I did not accept any payments to say anything positive or negative about the company. I’m particularly upset about being quoted $1200 for Freon, which should only cost $50 per pound. Additionally, they offered me $125, which was more like a refund for the initial service call than compensation for the issues I faced. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was frustrating and unsatisfactory.

Thank you for your review , Frederick.

I had the opportunity to review the authorization decision on your service request. Your work order was placed on 2/04/25. The replacement of your evaporator coil was authorized on 2/05/25 by AHS, meaning that AHS was paying the cost of labor and parts to replace the coil. The non-covered amount cost of $1200 for freon was the portion not covered by your contract. AHS' contracts are very clear on which items are and are not covered in a replacement or repair. These cost of freon is paid to the vendor, not to AHS. Had you agreed to pay this amount, AHS would have paid for the replacement of the coil.

The amount that you are referring to as a 'settlement' was actually $175, and this would have been the cash-in-lieu of repair reimbursement. That is the cost AHS pays for an evaporator coil replacement in parts and labor. This cost is far lower than the cost of any vendor outside of our network because AHS has access to a far larger number of vendors and manufacturers. These points are also covered in your contract.

While we are sorry that you were not happy with the outcome of the service, AHS did follow its contractual guidelines in a timely manner.

My furnace was not heating and I submitted a claim by calling and speaking to a representative, which was a fine experience. I was informed about the contractor, Clean Air Act, who was supposed to come, and the contractor himself called before arriving. However, while the service was satisfactory, it didn't resolve the problem initially. They had to come back out to bypass some wires, but now it's functioning.

I've had some challenges with American Home Shield; they sometimes can't find a repair person for specific issues, leaving me to handle it. For instance, I had an issue with my pool pump where the bearings were going out, but it wasn't fixed during a visit, which added unnecessary hassle for me. Generally, their service is okay, but their resources for certain repairs need improvement.

If I were to recommend them, I'd rate them a 3 out of 5 because, while they generally provide good service, there are some areas where they lack resources or can't figure out how to get someone to fix it, especially when it's beyond their usual scope. I don't know of any other companies offering this service, but I feel they could better manage cases that require specialized attention. I initially got the home warranty from American Home Shield when I bought my place, and I’ve been using it for eight years. Overall, they're an okay company, but they need better resource management for more consistent service.

I've been having trouble getting the promised $100 Amazon gift for me and the person who referred me to American Home Shield. It's been apparently a major problem. They're way backed up. I was told I was supposed to get it on February 7th, and now, today is March 26th, still haven't gotten it. And the last thing I was told, maybe two to three more weeks.

I had a claim for a malfunctioning stove. One burner stopped working on my stove and the digital display had missing digits. The technician was very professional and made a couple of trips to resolve the issue. While everything works now, the new burner installed doesn’t adjust to low; it stays on high, which is inconvenient for cooking.

The American Home Shield representatives were great. Initially, a subcontractor didn't contact me, but after I reached back to them, another serviceman was assigned who quickly got in touch. The service this time was excellent; the technician was associated with Sears Repair, and his professionalism and friendliness were top-notch. I'd rate him beyond perfect if I could.

Overall, I would rate my experience a 4 out of 5. However, the customer service itself deserves a full 5-star rating. I'm also satisfied with the cost of my warranty.

Eventually, I was directed to contact LG directly for the repair, which took about three to four weeks. This delay resulted in the loss of all the food in my freezer. While the repair was finally taken care of, the prolonged process and lack of accountability for the spoilage were frustrating.

I reached out to American Home Shield about possibly replacing the food I lost, but they declined, saying they weren’t responsible. This recent experience left me quite dissatisfied, which is disappointing since I previously had a positive opinion of them. Unfortunately, he needed to order the part specifically for my dishwasher model since he didn't have it on hand. Fortunately, the part was ordered the same day and arrived within about six days. American Home Shield has typically been reliable, taking care of necessary repairs without me having to find different professionals. I've had coverage for quite a while, possibly since 2016 or 2017, based on a neighbor's recommendation. My recent experience with them has been quite disappointing. I had a furnace issue and their contractor suggested I needed to wait 4 to 6 weeks for a custom part or get a new furnace, which seemed off to me. A second opinion from a trusted independent contractor revealed that all I needed was a new thermostat. He resolved the issue within a day at a much lower cost.

American Home Shield's contractor seemed more interested in upselling than addressing my actual problem. Additionally, previous service on my bathroom toilet required three visits before being fixed correctly. My trust in the contractors they send has diminished significantly. Despite this, when their services have worked, such as plumbing in the past, they were fine, albeit sometimes requiring multiple visits.

If I were to rate American Home Shield, I'd give them a 4 out of 5 for overall service due to past positive experiences. Their customer service is responsive but their coverage isn't always comprehensive, which can be frustrating. In terms of pricing, I find them somewhat reasonable, earning them another 4 rating. Based on my recent experiences, I'm hesitant to recommend them outright, but they aren't completely bad, just not as reliable as they used to be.

My refrigerator went down and unfortunately, it took almost a month to get a replacement. I submitted the claim through a customer service rep and it sounded easy, but then everything is 24 to 48 hours. When the tech finally came on a Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, which nothing gets done on a Friday afternoon, he threw a handheld thermometer into the refrigerator and simply said the refrigerator needed freon but he didn't carry any. It seemed quite odd for a technician in Florida not to have freon when it's commonly needed. He said it would take 24 hours for them to send somebody. He's gotta put his report in requesting that it needed freon. By Tuesday, Home Shield still hadn't had a request from the vendor.

I requested a different vendor and they gave me one a week and a half away. I was going back to New York and it wasn't convenient. By the time I came back, I rescheduled the appointment for something that I would be around. That company did a very nice job. The technician assessed that the refrigerator needed four parts, including a compressor. However, the delay continued as it took several days for the report to reach American Home Shield. Even then, there was further waiting as they were searching for the necessary parts. Finally, when I called them for the umpteenth time, Home Shield said they would give me cash in lieu of a new refrigerator.

Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Given the age and condition of the refrigerator, American Home Shield should have acted faster. My dissatisfaction is reflected in my rating of 1 star for this experience.

American Home Shield had someone work on this about six months before as well.

A second visit saw two technicians inspecting the refrigerator and finding some rodent droppings behind it. They immediately took pictures and reported to American Home Shield, who then denied my claim based on the "pests" exclusion in their policy. My wife and I, both in our 70s, managed to pull out the refrigerator. We went behind it with a shop-vac, cleaned up, plugged the refrigerator back in and it worked. The issue was just dust. No rodent had been in there to chew any wires. It wasn't a wire issue, but simply a cleaning issue. I got charged $100 for nothing. I called American Home Shield and said I wanted my $100 back because their people didn't do anything. They said that $100 was for just an investigation, not repairs. I asked about cleaning, and they said, “Oh, we don't clean things.” If part of the necessary repair is cleaning, how does that work?

I've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years, but this experience, coupled with the unhelpful technicians, has left me extremely dissatisfied.

My dryer wasn't working, so I submitted a claim online through American Home Shield's website, which was very easy to use. I got the option of having a video meeting with a contractor instead of an on-site visit, and it went well. The contractor said they'd need to order a part before they could fix the issue.

American Home Shield came with our house when we purchased it, and we've renewed it annually for nearly 15 years. Over the years, they have replaced several of our appliances, including the dishwasher, furnace, and garbage disposal, which has been helpful.

The dishwasher and the garbage disposal were easy to fix. However, I feel that there's room for improvement with American Home Shield. It often seems like we have to go through too many steps before they finally decide to replace an item. For instance, for the dryer, they fixed one part, which was the problem, but then another problem popped up. The dryer requires multiple visits and different parts replacements before a final decision is made to replace it. It seems like there's a protocol they need to follow before authorizing a replacement.

Overall, I'd rate them around 3.5 stars. While they do eventually replace items and the contractors are quite helpful, the process could be more streamlined to save time.

I submitted a claim for my malfunctioning dishwasher. The process was smooth as I filed my claim online, and everything went through fine. The customer service interaction was good, and the technicians who were sent out were excellent. There were two technicians, with one having to come multiple times. Both were informative and explained what was going on with the dishwasher, which was very helpful.

Since the repair, my dishwasher has been working perfectly. The only issue I faced was with another company, Sears, regarding delays in obtaining a part, but that was beyond American Home Shield's control. Overall, everything with American Home Shield was good. The price is in line with the contract, though I wish it were less, but I understand that's standard. I would definitely recommend their service.

During my most recent claim regarding an appliance, Sears was responsible for the repair work. Initially, the process was a bit challenging as they needed to visit multiple times due to not having the necessary parts on hand on their first visit. However, they eventually resolved the issue, and everything has been working perfectly since then.

The technicians from American Home Shield are excellent. They've been friendly and they help out. There's been a couple of times I haven't been home, but my wife's been there and she says they've been fine. We've been using American Home Shield for a year and have filed about 4-5 claims. Compared to our previous experience with another home warranty company, American Home Shield has been far superior in terms of customer service and communication. They have consistently kept us updated on the status of our claims.

I appreciate their service and would currently rate American Home Shield a 5 out of 5 for their outstanding support and reliability.

We went through American Home Shield's user-friendly portal for a service request for our Samsung dishwasher. We open the appliance and turn the buttons, but nothing would happen. There was nothing on the panel that was causing it to work, so for about four days, nothing at all would be reactive. Upon submitting the claim, a contractor from Ukon Appliance Repair, Inc. was sent to address the issue.

Before the contractor's visit, I received a text message or email with the details, which I found satisfactory. The technician contacted me directly to confirm the appointment. The service was good; the contractor assessed the problem, explained that it was under the manufacturer's warranty, and informed me that I wouldn't have to worry about a deductible next time. This was reassuring and the issue was resolved.

I've been with American Home Shield for about three months based on my real estate agent's recommendation for a home warranty when I purchased my house. I have already filed two claims and what I appreciate the most is the straightforward and simple claims process. While the contractors they use might be located far away—something to consider for improvement—the overall service has been exceptional.

I would rate American Home Shield highly, as I haven't encountered any uncovered issues, and the cost seems fair. Overall, my experience with their customer service has been very positive.

I discovered a leak under my sink. Unsure of whether it was a problem with the disposal or a pipe, I submitted a claim online, which was very easy to navigate. The contractor who came out to assess the issue was fabulous. He diagnosed the problem immediately and replaced the disposal right on the spot with the same kind. He mentioned he'd never seen one go bad that fast and suspected there might have been an issue with the initial installation.

I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years because of the potential high costs of repairs, particularly since my house has a septic system. It's a relief to have coverage, especially since my husband passed away last year, and I'm not able to fix things myself. American Home Shield has always been helpful. When the contractors from Extreme Heating and Air arrived, they were friendly and informed me they would be installing a new system. The installation process took about an hour and a half, and they came prepared with the necessary system, which was efficient.

They assured me that within 24 hours, a contractor would contact me, and indeed, I received a prompt call to schedule the repair appointment for the following day.

The contractor from Williams Plumbing Heating and Air LLC arrived in a company van and was very cordial. After assessing the situation, he explained that the repair would cost over $100 due to additional issues not covered by American Home Shield, so I paid him in cash. Despite this, he completed all necessary work that day and did an excellent job. Since the repair, everything has been functioning perfectly.

Our family has trusted American Home Shield for years. After moving from Kentucky to Florida and trying another one-year warranty from a different company, we returned to American Home Shield because of our previous positive experiences. I feel confident in their selection of reputable contractors, which is especially valuable in a new area where we don't know local service providers.

While the service is reliable and saves money on major repairs, I wish it covered more specific issues. For example, certain toilet repairs weren't included, leading to additional costs. Additionally, the pricing for AC tune-ups is higher with American Home Shield compared to other service providers. Despite these concerns, the online tools are user-friendly, and the overall service is commendable. I’ve even recommended American Home Shield to family, and they too are satisfied with the service.

I had a rather frustrating experience with American Home Shield. The contractors they use don't seem very professional. For instance, I had a hot water tank issue back in October 2024. The tank was old and leaking, and the contractor spent barely five minutes looking at it. He advised me to buy a cap from Home Depot and didn't report the issue to American Home Shield, which was discouraging. Three months later, I ended up having to replace the tank out of pocket, which cost me $1500.

Later, I had an issue with the bathtub faucet, and the same contractor came back. He blamed the problem on it not being a name-brand faucet, which I found unhelpful. After he left, I called American Home Shield and requested someone else. I had to pay an additional $100, bringing my total to $200 with this guy. The new technician did some actual work and improved the water pressure.

I had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. In the past, some technicians were frustratingly unreliable—they didn't show up on time and often couldn't fix the problem, offering excuses instead. One refrigerator issue took about eight months to resolve because earlier technicians kept me waiting endlessly for parts that were never ordered or arrived. This forced me to buy a used refrigerator as a temporary solution, even though my current one was quite expensive and too valuable to just discard.

However, my recent interaction with a technician through American Home Shield was excellent. This technician was punctual, professional, and efficient. He always checked to ensure everything was working correctly and had the necessary parts in his own car, which allowed him to fix my appliance right away. If he didn't have the part on hand, he would quickly order it and return within the week to complete the job. This level of service was drastically better than my previous experiences.

American Home Shield came with my home for a year free, but I decided to reinstate it last year since I'm single and don't know who to call when something needs fixing. It is more affordable for me to have everything under the American Home Shield umbrella rather than trying to find service providers through traditional means like the yellow pages. A while ago, I had a situation with a leaking hot water tank causing major water damage. Initially, my homeowner's insurance identified the issue, and I decided to call American Home Shield the same day. They quickly set up an appointment with technicians who assessed and resolved the problem. They replaced a cracked plastic clamp with a brass one. Thankfully, I didn't have to replace the whole tank, which saved me money.

However, the cost of service calls has doubled from $55 to $125. I've noticed other services offer lower rates, so that's a bit disappointing. Also, the customer service experience can be frustrating due to language barriers; it's difficult to understand the representatives sometimes. Despite these issues, American Home Shield is a practical choice for someone in my situation. It's particularly helpful if you don't have anyone handy around. My friend reminded me of this service, which turned out to be very convenient. If you’re alone like me, or don’t have a go-to handyman, it’s definitely worth considering.

Two companies later (that they sent) and it is still not fixed as of today March 25, 2025. My renters have been without heat all winter! Now it is warming up and no air conditioning which actually did work before they came to fix it. Customer Service is outsourced. When they do try to call you the connection is usually bad and you can’t understand them and then disconnects and never try to call back. We have tried numerous times to call them and get it resolved and they always say they are waiting on the contract company. We have called contract company and they say they’re waiting for approval from AHS Total runaround! Frustrating as weeks, then months and no resolution. I won’t be renewing this coverage, ever!!!!

I have had the most frustrating experience with My Georgia Plumber (MGP) and my home warranty (American Home Shield) for about a week now that is yet to be resolved. Last Tues., Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) inspected our condo building for a reported gas leak & it was determined multiple leaks were coming from my unit. They said that I would need to contact a plumber to fix.

I reached out to AHS that night and sent them all of the documentation provided with the initial diagnosis from AGL. On this documentation, a pressure test was recommended. A pro was sent out on Wed. who came & inspected. He told me that he could not find any leaks and that AGL sometimes lies to people about leaks in order to get "points" with the company. I called AGL to come back and confirm again - AGL returned that night and confirmed to me with multiple tests.

I reached back out to MGP and told them this was the case and that AGL said a pressure test was required in order to fully diagnose on the side of the plumber. MGP set up an appointment with me for Thurs. but then was unable to come without approval from AHS for the pressure test. They ended up sending another tech on Friday morning who cut holes in my drywall that remain.

It went very quickly from a diagnosis on Wednesday of "I can't find anything at all" to "you need to fully repipe your entire gas line". I was provided a quote of around $5400 to do so which through communicating with other pros was told this is quite high. As I pay for my home warranty, I would like to try to go through them first as it's a huge unexpected expense that according to the documentation should hopefully be covered. The pro that day told me to reach out to the MGP office to set up an appointment and let them know the urgency of timing due to upcoming jury duty and work travel and had already had to stay home from the office 3 days that week for the appointments taking place.

I called and spoke with Christine or Christina (I'm sorry I don't fully recall) around 11am on Fri. after the pro left my house. I explained to her the urgency of the situation and she assured me that they'd rush the estimate to AHS and that I should hopefully have an answer by the end of the day or Monday at the latest but I could check in later that day. I did and was told via text message that they were "waiting on AHS". By the end of the day, AHS explained that they still did not have a copy of the estimate in their hands so they could not provide any update.

I reached out again on Mon. on multiple occasions to both MGP and AHS because I did not know who was telling me the truth and who was potentially lying to me. I was told via text from MGP that they were still waiting on AHS. AHS first misquoted and told me that it was approved and they had already notified the vendor so I reached out to MGP to get on the schedule. MGP then confirmed they had not yet sent any type of estimate in so there's no way that is possible. I touched base again with AHS who realized their error and said they were waiting on MGP. I called MGP about 10 minutes before closing as I sent a follow up text with no response. I was told by Samantha that they had sent the estimate in to their "AHS Field Manager" for evaluation.

I reached out to AHS this morning (now Tuesday) to follow up &. they told me that they've not received an estimate & did not know of any "Field Manager" I was referring to. They said the estimate HAD to go to go through the approvals dept and no other options were available. I finally got a response that the claim was denied - actually I never got a response, but found it myself on my dashboard after consistently being told I'd be notified. No communication was provided by either AHS or the vendor.

The reasoning for AHS denying my claim is absurd. The policy documents state that gas line leaks and breaks are covered, yet they will not cover mine as my pipe is copper which is no longer permitted to be fixed but must be replaced. I live in a condo and since my personal gas line has a meter They state this is covered:

    (a) Leaks or breakages of water, gas, drains, waste or plumbing waste vent lines and pipes that occur within the Covered Home; and

    (b) All parts and components of valves; and

    (c) Permanently installed ground water only sump pumps (including battery if used exclusively for the sump pump).

But that the clause below means they cannot cover re-piping.

    A. Costs of Construction and Modifications Limitation. Unless otherwise expressly stated in this Plan Agreement, we will not pay for the costs of construction, carpentry, restoration, or any other Modification(s) within the Covered Home.

In addition, this Plan Agreement does not provide any coverage for any Modification to any item that is not identified as a Covered Item in the Plan Summary.

It specifically states leaks and breaks are covered, but what would they do if a line broke? There is no other solution but to re-pipe, so their policy is a straight out lie.

The repair guy from Certified Electrical informed me that I needed more breakers downstairs. He was very thorough with showing me exactly what was wrong with that particular problem that American Home Shield didn't cover. They only covered when things go wrong and the repair guy told me they would not be able to handle that. I would have to go up to an outside company to add on more breakers. But the repair guy repaired my outlets that weren’t working. The lights are back on, so right now, everything is working okay in those rooms. When I called American Home Shield, the customer service was great, and the rep was very knowledgeable.

I had to make a claim with American Home Shield for my washing machine. The experience, in general, wasn't the greatest initially. The first two technicians they sent out were disappointing; they didn't seem to know what they were doing. One of them just looked at the washer and randomly ordered a part without really examining the issue. The second technician wanted to do the same, even though the part had already been replaced. It was quite frustrating.

However, things took a turn for the better when the third technician came out. He was meticulous, took the time to really investigate the problem, and managed to fix the washer. He was knowledgeable and thorough, and I'm thankful for his effort.

Regarding the overall experience with American Home Shield, I'd rate it a 3 out of 5. Dealing with the initial service calls was annoying, but their customer service was satisfactory, and the third technician was excellent. As for the price of the warranty, I’d also rate it a 3. It could be better, but I appreciate that the problem was eventually resolved.

I've been an AHS customer for years in NM, but when I moved to Florida and purchased an AHS plan, what a difference—a terrible experience from the very beginning. First, my garage door opener stopped working. They sent two different companies to look at it. I guess because the first one said it needed to be replaced, they sent a second, who said it was too old. American Home Shield said they would not cover it. Next, the ice maker stopped working in the refrigerator. They sent someone out; he replaced the ice maker and messed with the temperature setting, and the refrigerator quit altogether. He came back, replaced the compressor and a few other things, but the refrigerator still didn't work. He came out a total of five times and finally said it had to be replaced. AHS didn't like that answer, so they sent another technician, who replaced four more things. It's been a month and two days without a refrigerator, and it still doesn't work; they will not replace it.

Although the initial service for the water heater was quick, the coverage that American Home Shield offers is considerably less compared to other companies. I had to replace an entire geothermal unit for heating and air, and they only compensated me for $1,500, which was very disappointing.

During this claim, American Home Shield sent out four different technicians who couldn't properly diagnose or fix the geothermal unit. I had to take off work multiple times, which significantly impacted me financially, especially since I earn more when working away from home. The inefficiency led me to lose around $15,200 between paying for the unit and having incompetent diagnoses. What made matters worse was their customer service. I spent two weeks calling them with no heat while it was 20 degrees outside. My realtor had to get an executive involved just so I could get approval to find my own technician.

Overall, the process was frustrating and time-consuming, leaving me dissatisfied with American Home Shield. I would never recommend their services to anyone. The customer service was awful, and their representatives seemed to rely solely on scripts, not addressing my concerns genuinely. Although the price may seem reasonable, it's not worth it for the poor quality of service and lack of proper coverage.

I hate AHS and I would not recommend them to anybody even if they were my worst enemy. I was desperate and that was the only reason why I used them to come fix my refrigerator. But it was the only thing they did right. I have them since 2020 and and in 5 years, that's the only thing they did good. During the pandemic, I had something wrong with my septic tank and I paid the extra money to be able to get my septic tank serviced. But they decided that they weren't covering that because the time had expired for them to cover that. But I told them that it was during the pandemic when we couldn't get anybody in and out. They also said the price went up since then.

Then, my washing machine had a problem and they said it couldn't be fixed. I sent them the copy of my statement where I bought another washer in and they were supposed to be sending me my money back. So far, I've yet to get my money. Also, my girlfriend who lives in McDonough had AHS and they gave her the hot water heater but she had to pay the guy $1200 to install it. And she wound up paying more for the installing than the hot water heater.

I had a deeply frustrating experience with American Home Shield that ultimately led me to cancel my contract with them. Initially, when I called AHS about my refrigerator not freezing and added my microwave and dishwasher as additional checks, it marked the beginning of a drawn-out ordeal. The first company they sent, South Valley Appliance, was unable to address the refrigerator issue due to specific regulations in California regarding the repair of seal systems, so they transferred the task to another vendor, LA Appliance.

The process was plagued by lack of communication and responsiveness from both the vendors and AHS. It took over a month for LA Appliance to finally repair my refrigerator, despite having received the necessary parts much earlier. While the technician was informative and helpful face-to-face, the follow-up actions were disappointing and slow.

To make matters worse, my experience with microwave repairs was equally poor. South Valley Appliance claimed it wasn't mounted correctly, refused to install the parts, and walked out with them. When the issue got reassigned to LA Appliance, they discovered different problems, which delayed the repair further. In the end, AHS denied the claim, leaving me with an unresolved issue despite initial approval from South Valley. Throughout this entire process, I had to repeatedly chase down both the vendors and AHS for updates and information.

Due to these ongoing issues, I filed grievances with the Better Business Bureau, which led nowhere. Given my experience, I would rate American Home Shield very poorly and cannot recommend their services to anyone.

I had an issue with my electrical outlet at home and that led me to file a claim with American Home Shield. I contacted their customer service over the phone, and I must say, the experience was pretty good. My dining room lights and plugs were not working and the initial turnaround time for someone to come out was within a couple of days. However, after the technician from Jones Electrical arrived and assessed the situation, it took about three weeks for him to return and complete the repair. Other than that, everything's in working order now.

On the same claim though, I attempted to get my garage door opener replaced, but American Home Shield declined to cover that part, which was disappointing. The lack of detailed policies regarding what is covered left me a bit frustrated.

If a friend were to ask about my experience with American Home Shield, I'd say it's been kind of mixed. Ideally, I would rate the home warranty company a 3 out of 5 based on this experience. The customer service deserves a 5 for their handling of inquiries. However, the cost is $67 a month, and the inability to get the garage door opener replaced was a letdown for me.

I had a disappointing experience with American Home Shield. It's been a month and my furnace is still not fixed. They keep telling me that the parts have been ordered, yet I’ve heard this multiple times within the same month. Every time a technician visits, they find another faulty part, and the cycle repeats. If obtaining parts is so problematic, they should consider replacing the furnace since enduring these conditions is unbearable. After a repair, the fan ran non-stop for four days, leading me to shut down the entire system. I'm now stuck in a home that's either too cold or overly hot. During this ordeal, American Home Shield repeatedly assured me they would follow up, but I found myself caught in a loop between them and the assigned repair company, Fast Response. I went through February without heat, which was particularly tough.

My concern is simple: if acquiring parts is this challenging, it's bound to be a recurring issue whenever it needs future repairs. Why not just replace the unit? The system appears designed to stretch out the repair process unnecessarily. The customer service staff are polite, but they seem powerless to resolve anything effectively, which leads me to believe this might be their operational norm. Therefore, I'd rate their service as a 1 and their customer service as a 3, as they seem to lack authority to make meaningful decisions.

I recently dealt with a plumbing issue at my home and used American Home Shield for the service. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great. We had a leak under the floor by the bathroom, and when the plumber came, they conducted a hydrostatic test but couldn't provide a clear answer about the leak's origin. It seemed like they were more focused on the invoice than addressing our concerns about the water issue.

This is quite convenient. The customer service has been reliable and supportive, with phone assistance being necessary for me as I'm legally blind; they are always helpful and courteous.

Although the service is good, I find the premium to be on the higher side at $93 a month with a $100 service fee. It started at a lower price when I initially subscribed. I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim I submitted for my refrigerator's water dispenser and ice maker, which stopped working. Initially, I submitted the claim online, which seemed straightforward; however, I soon discovered a major issue with the website, which didn't offer an option to indicate that the service was incomplete. Despite submitting my claim on December 17th last year, my refrigerator remains unfixed even in March.

The contractors from Sears who were supposed to handle the repairs have been unreliable. They assured me they'd order the necessary parts, which arrived in a few days, but when they came to install them, the problem persisted, and they needed to order more parts. On two occasions, they were supposed to come between 8 and 5, but both times, they canceled around midday via text, and I had to reschedule. American Home Shield insisted on sticking with Sears, even though it was inefficient.

I eventually contacted a different company, recommended by the place where I bought my refrigerator, and though they attempted to fix it, the issue remains unresolved. This entire ordeal has been out of pocket. Though American Home Shield offered to refund my service call fee, I've been waiting since December without resolution.

Overall, my experience has been extremely disappointing. I rate American Home Shield's customer service at 1, as it's largely automated with no personal interaction, making it nearly impossible to reach someone who can assist directly. I give a 2 for the website due to its major flaws. I haven't been able to assess the coverage because the service is incomplete. This situation reflects slow service and poor customer support, and I would not recommend them based on my experience.

I had an extremely negative experience with American Home Shield. I submitted a claim, and they dispatched Ace's Garage Doors. The technician who came to my house was there for less than three minutes and did absolutely nothing to fix my garage, yet I was charged a service fee. I ended up having to pay another contractor $150 to fix it properly. So, I was out more than $300 for a service that was supposed to be covered.

I've tried reaching out to American Home Shield about this issue multiple times, requesting a refund since the initial visit resulted in no service. Despite this, I've received no satisfactory resolution. It's frustrating because I've been with them for two years and initially, the service fees were reasonable, but they have since increased while the quality of service has decreased.

This isn’t the first time I've had issues. A similar situation occurred with my air conditioning unit. I was quoted $4000, yet I got it repaired privately for $400. The contractors that American Home Shield sends seem more interested in upselling unnecessary work rather than addressing the actual problem.

Given my experiences, I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and am considering switching to a different warranty company.

I've been using American Home Shield for about six months now. Recently, I had an issue with my refrigerator and initiated a claim with them. The experience was a bit mixed. The first technician came out, examined the fridge, and mentioned he needed a couple of weeks to get the parts needed. I had already provided the make and model of the refrigerator when requesting service, so I was a bit surprised at the delay and the need for multiple visits.

When he came back, he installed the parts swiftly, but left my kitchen in disarray, with old equipment and boxes scattered around. His lack of care was a bit frustrating since he could have easily disposed of the waste in the dumpster by my back door. Unfortunately, the refrigerator didn’t work properly after his visit, so I had to request yet another service call.

The second technician, however, was much more thorough. He inspected everything carefully and fixed the issue, which turned out to be related to the water line. The refrigerator is working now, albeit a bit slowly.

I do wish we had the option to choose which technician comes out, and the scheduling process could be improved. The time windows they offer for service calls are not practical for me, making it difficult to arrange time off for repairs. It would be helpful if they could come prepared with the necessary information and parts to avoid multiple visits.

Overall, despite the hiccups, I would rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5. While there were issues, they ultimately resolved the problem. However, better organization and communication from the start would make the experience much smoother.

The problem was with the control panel; my oven wasn't turning off properly and would only shut down automatically after some time. The technician explained that sometimes the oven needs to be reset. He pulled out the oven, disconnected some wires, and cleaned the little probes before reconnecting everything. He mentioned that if the problem persisted, they would replace the entire control panel. Fortunately, I haven't experienced any issues since the visit. The technician was excellent; he was very courteous and left me a card, indicating that I could call if the problem recurred, and they would address it promptly. He provided insights into working with older ovens and reassured me that sometimes a simple reset and cleaning is all that's needed.

The technician who came out was supposed to address an issue that another provider identified, but he didn't perform the necessary repairs. Instead, he merely cleaned something in the machine that had already been serviced a month prior. I found it very unprofessional; the technician refused to specify what he repaired and gave another estimate for the same job I initially requested, which was quite confusing.

I attempted to reach out for clarification, but the communication was terrible. The technician didn't answer calls and only responded to text messages with "text me," but then failed to follow through. This lack of response and accountability led me to cancel. I also reported this to American Home Shield, but nobody followed up or seemed to care about the complaint, which was frustrating. This was my first experience with a warranty company, and it left me questioning the reliability of the entire process. It made me feel like the whole service might be a scam, leaving a bad taste in my mouth due to how unresolved everything felt.

I've been dealing with American Home Shield at my residence on 8328 Turnberry Drive, and my experience has been quite exasperating. I've had to call them multiple times to address issues with my microwave. Despite their technicians repairing it three times, it always malfunctions just after the 30-day period. Each time, I'm required to pay an additional $100 service fee, which is frustrating as it should be fixed once and for all. I've also experienced issues with my dishwasher that were superficially addressed by technicians. They seem to focus on quick fixes rather than diagnosing the core problem.

In particular, one contractor from America Appliance Works was supposed to address a recurring microwave issue, only for it to break again two days later. Thankfully, they have now agreed to provide a new microwave, so I am waiting to see how that turns out. Their service warranty of 30 days is simply not enough. Extending it to at least 60 or 90 days would provide more assurance that repairs are lasting. The technicians are generally professional and courteous, but there’s a noticeable lack of thoroughness. The constant need for callbacks is both inconvenient and costly.

I understand that their service fee of $100 is reasonable when comparing the cost of appliance repairs, but if recurring issues persist, it cancels out any potential savings. While the coverage for appliances is decent enough, I'm hesitant to explore further coverage options given the service quality I've experienced. I appreciate that they have promised to change my microwave, but only time will tell if that improves my trust in their service.

When we had issues with our furnace, May Heating and Air came out roughly a month ago to check it. They assured me that although the furnace was old, it was still in good shape. However, it still occasionally blows cold air when it starts up, which worries me, especially during the cold months. We've also had more serious complications, such as when multiple appliances, including our stove, dishwasher, and microwave, stopped working. The process to get them replaced took months, hindered by issues with the service provider losing packages or delaying orders. Thankfully, after my son intervened, we were able to resolve it, and the appliances were eventually replaced.

Despite these challenges, American Home Shield did make efforts to retain us when I considered switching companies, offering two months without service fees as an incentive. Overall, I have to be cautious in recommending them. While some service calls have led to timely and effective resolutions, others have dragged on. Also, one issue I have is their policy of requiring the upfront payment before a visit is scheduled, which I experienced even when simple fixes were made, like flipping a breaker. Also, I find American Home Shield's service fees and some customer service interactions less impressive. If a friend asked for my recommendation, I would advise them to do thorough research based on this varied experience.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for a while now. Generally, my experiences have been positive, but there have been a few hiccups. One particularly frustrating issue was with a technician from Access Appliance who came to assess my dishwasher. The technician quickly determined that the electronics were shot and had me sign off for part replacements. However, I did not hear back for ten days despite multiple follow-up attempts. Eventually, I was informed that the appliance could not be repaired or replaced due to pest damage, something that was never mentioned at the initial visit. This made me feel misled as it wasn't communicated to me immediately.

On a more positive note, I had an outstanding experience with EZY Appliance, who serviced my washing machine. The receptionist, Myra, and the technicians, including Ed and Zach, were fantastic. Ed even gave me his personal number and returned on his day off to ensure everything was working perfectly. Their customer service was exemplary.

Overall, while I appreciate the service from American Home Shield, I recommend they remove Access Appliance from their list to prevent future issues. It would also be beneficial if technician reports were available online for transparency. Despite these concerns, I find the service and coverage excellent, rating them five stars. I use the online claims process, but improvements in transparency and communication would enhance my experience.

When the technician arrived, he didn't check the keypad as expected. Instead, he claimed that we needed to replace all four garage door machines, quoting an outrageous amount of money. It seemed unnecessary since the only problem was the keypad.

I contacted American Home Shield multiple times requesting a different technician, but since their customer service is based far away, I received no response or follow-up. Currently, the garage doors function fine with the remotes, but the keypad remains non-operational. This is a hassle when we need to access the garage without a car.

I was really satisfied with their professionalism and the quality of their work. They managed to schedule the service within a week, which was quite efficient.

I've been using American Home Shield for about a year now. However, there was some confusion regarding the coverage limits. Based on the positive experiences my family members had, I got American Home Shield and have been with them for about four months now. Unfortunately, my experience has been quite mixed. Initially, I faced a lot of frustration when the first assigned contractor never contacted me. It took considerable effort on my part to have American Home Shield send Roscoe's Renovations, who were out of their usual travel radius but agreed to come after the ticket was remade. However, this process omitted the crucial doorbell repair from the list of tasks.

I’ve also had issues getting a plumbing contractor. They couldn't find one in their network, so I was authorized to hire a plumber myself. Luckily, my in-law who works in a related business helped secure a better rate, but now I have to go through the reimbursement process.

On the plus side, submitting tickets is straightforward, but the process around tickets and contractor assignments could use improvement. Customer service rated around a 3. At times, language barriers make communication challenging, and there have been instances of oversight in ticket details.

The coverage itself seems solid, and the pricing, thanks to a deal, is good. Yet, without the discount, I'm not entirely sure the cost would be justified. Their website is quite user-friendly, so I’d rate it a 4 or 5.

Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been a mixed bag, with both positive and negative interactions.

Despite this, they offered me the option to approve the repair, which I did, and they're scheduled to return this Friday to complete the work. I appreciate their efficiency.

I called American Home Shield and requested a heating and air person to come out to my house and check my furnace that stopped working. But before they could replace it or do any repairs, it started working again. When the technician from HRS Heating and Cooling came, he suspected the motherboard was the issue, but he didn't have the part and needed to order it. He suggested replacing the furnace due to its age as it was about 25 years old, and usually, it's recommended to replace furnaces by this age.

However, there was a misunderstanding when he submitted the claim as an upgrade, which meant replacing the entire HVAC system, including the AC unit, for approximately $7,500. This was far beyond my budget, especially since I rely on American Home Shield to cover such expenses. After a prolonged back-and-forth, they eventually processed it as a replacement, but it would still cost me $2,700, which was confusing since their policy states they cover up to $5,000 for heating and cooling. Communication with American Home Shield was challenging, and representatives were often rude. It was immensely difficult getting clear answers from them. Ultimately, after speaking with a manager, and given that my furnace was functioning again, we decided to cancel the order.

While I appreciate the safety net American Home Shield is supposed to provide, being a single person on a low income, my experiences haven't always aligned with their promises. For instance, they did replace my refrigerator once, but it took 15 to 16 days, which resulted in me losing $300 to $400 worth of groceries. The delays have been consistent, and their service has raised my monthly premium from around $60 to nearly $94 after the refrigerator claim. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield leaves much to be desired in terms of customer service and coverage efficiency, and I would rate them a 1 out of 5.

Typically, I use the online tool which is super easy, but this time I called them directly. Overall, my experience with AHS has been okay. My most recent claim with American Home Shield was regarding a plumbing issue and it was horrible. On their website, I put in a claim for someone to come out and fix a leak at the house. The repairman told me he fixed the leak under the sink and that when I got home, I should double-check because if I heard water running, there might be something else happening. When I got home from work that day, the water was running nonstop. It wasn’t leaking into the house, but into the pipe that was in the sink where it drained too. I called the warranty company back up and asked them to have somebody come out here and fix it.

The same repairman returned. He claimed the issue was with my filtration system, which wasn't covered by their warranty, and suggested I buy a new system for $1,000. Then, American Home Shield tried charging me another $100 for the follow-up visit even though the initial problem was unresolved. This was incredibly frustrating, and they continue to email me about the $100 charge.

Regarding their services, I rate American Home Shield poorly. For the overall product, considering they did perform some other work previously, I give them a 2.
