    My kitchen sink was backed up and the contractor had to unstop that. Then, the next visit was to fix a leak in my bar kitchen sink. In both instances, the service provided by Cahaba Contractors was efficient, addressing all matter on their initial visit.

    As for my experience setting up appointments with American Home Shield, I usually alternate between calling and using their online platform. This time, I opted for the more direct route and scheduled everything over the phone. The overall customer service from American Home Shield has been a mixed bag. Sometimes there are communication hurdles, but generally, I don't have significant complaints.

    Considering the different aspects of my experience with American Home Shield, I'd rate it differently in individual areas. The customer service experience sits somewhere in between, at a solid 3. Despite the few communication challenges, their timely service pulls their rating up a little. On price, however, I’m less satisfied.

    I had various electrical issues around my home, and I must say, the experience was impressive. The technician, Joseph from Hopwood Electric, not only handled the multiple electrical problems I was having but went above and beyond by cleaning my ceiling fan while he was up on the ladder.

    Having recently experienced some challenges, including an issue with my ceiling fan, Joseph's extra help was immensely appreciated. He was kind enough to change a light bulb for me and, upon my request, even wiped off the fan blades, which was very thoughtful since it's something I hadn't been able to do myself.

    While I'm quite happy with the service I received, I do think the pricing could be improved. The cost of the warranty is fair, but the $100 deductible, even after a monthly payment to reduce it from $125, seems a bit high.

    If you want to be lied to and charge money every month as well as a service fee and have no one show up and then when you call one of the representative says, place for you "sir, running away from your problems is no way to handle life" when you want to cancel your plan this is the plan for you it snowed my water heater went out and they couldn't even get back to me for five days. In the meantime I had to hire a plumber myself then they charged me $125 along with the $54 a month fee. My washer went out they made an appointment and I had a doctor appointment at the same time so they just canceled the service request and said service completed when no one ever showed up or came out here and then Try canceling your plan they make it. I spent an hour on the website and then on the phone waiting on hold just to cancel my plan.

    My AC unit needed a new evaporator coil, but American Home Shield advised me that necessary modifications would cost about $3000. The technician suggested that getting a new unit might be more beneficial since my current one would become obsolete soon. Given our financial constraints, we opted for a buyout rather than investing in an old unit that would need replacement parts unavailable soon.

    I was particularly frustrated by the process with the technicians. My husband and I had to take off work four times due to recurring issues. The first technician thought it was an outdoor unit issue; they fixed something, but the problem persisted. The second attempted the same fix, with similar results. Finally, the third technician discovered the true issue with the evaporator coil leaking freon in the attic.

    Overall, while I've been a customer of American Home Shield for five years, this experience was less than satisfactory. I felt disappointed about the expectation to cover a $3000 maintenance cost despite paying monthly for coverage. On a scale where five indicates full satisfaction, I would give them a three for this experience.     There have been both ups and downs regarding the technicians that American Home Shield sends to my home. While sometimes I'm satisfied, on other occasions, the technicians tell me there's nothing wrong, only for problems to persist until I have to call someone else, which becomes frustrating as it costs me extra money each time.

    In particular, there are instances where I do get a good plumber or electrician who really knows their job and fixes the issues promptly, but unfortunately, I'm unable to request the same technician for future visits due to company policies. This lack of consistency can be troubling because I end up paying for multiple visits without resolving the issue immediately.

    Additionally, my experience with some of the policies has been lacking. For instance, my payments continue to rise every year, although the service level does not notably improve. At one time, the procedure for handling service calls meant you'd pay the technician directly upon arrival. The company now charges service fees upfront, directly from my account, sometimes before they even confirm an appointment.

    I’m not sure how American Home Shield screens their contractors. The techs are polite and professional, but I don’t have the technical know-how to explain what’s wrong. I just know it’s not working. One tech explained that AHS only covers basic functions, so if a dryer is noisy but still dries, they won’t fix it. He also pointed out that high-tech appliances often break down in ways we don’t even use, which I’ve found to be true. Overall, once something gets fixed, I’m satisfied. It’s just frustrating when someone comes out and says nothing’s wrong, even when there clearly is an issue.

    What particularly irks me is the arduous process and waiting period when I need quick resolutions, for example, plumbing problems. I handle several units, and if something goes wrong, it impacts many residents. Since I manage multiple residences, with each housing its own appliances, any delay in service is problematic. Every month, I'm paying over $2000, if not more, a month for this maintenance on American Home Shield. That's why I get upset. And then I gotta pay them $100 for the people to come out.

    While dealing with issues can be laborious and repetitive interactions without satisfactory resolutions are troublesome, I keep on with American Home Shield, as exploring other options doesn’t necessarily guarantee better experiences. Plus, my daughters, who also use this service, have similar complaints, yet we cling to what we know, hoping improvement will follow.

    At first, things seemed to work out with AHS, like with my tumble dryer claim, which was handled smoothly over the phone. However, a previous incident with a broken water heater heavily tainted my perspective. The initial expert sent by American Home Shield provided an inaccurate and far-fetched assessment of the problem, attributing the failure to unrelated causes just to avoid covering the repairs. I went as far as hiring an independent plumber who outright dismissed the initial report as rubbish.

    The ordeal led to about 12 to 13 days without a shower while the dispute lingered on, contributing to a loss of faith in American Home Shield's credibility. Inability to repair a heating system and leaving me to take a Catch 22 bargain - replace with a lowball offer to help or go without any heat. Service people cannot speak to appeal options but certainly can speak to insane fees for early termination. Best move was simply cancelling and moving on. They cannot go bankrupt soon enough.

    Our claims were subsequently denied by American Home Shield, with reasons vaguely related to contract terms. What's frustrating is that throughout this ordeal, we never received proactive calls or written communications from them outlining why our claim was denied or explaining the diagnosis made. All follow-up efforts had to be initiated by us, which was quite taxing. Moreover, communicating with their help center was challenging, predominantly due to language barriers, as most service reps were based offshore. Being a 24-year customer, one would expect better support, especially when past services have always covered similar issues. This repeated lack of proactive customer service and communication clarity has been quite infuriating.

Financial constraints may affect my continuing subscription as a whole, but I do recognize the benefits of having the home warranty.     I had an ice maker that was jammed. The tech came out, identified the issue, ended up ordering me another ice maker and replaced it. I've never had an issue with American Home Shield or their representatives. But I had two issues with the other vendors that came out. I had one more issue. One of the providers told me that they don't service refrigerators in the garage. I said, "No, that's incorrect." And he told me AHS wouldn't pay for it. But he was a jerk. He acted like he didn't even wanna be there. I just opened the garage for him and I said, "You can go ahead and leave." That was it. I called them and they said, "That's incorrect. He was wrong." I said, "He's a little on the rude side, but he seemed like he didn't wanna be there." The policy used to be at 70 bucks. Now, that thing is over 100 a month. I would still recommend AHS to a friend.

    My experiences with American Home Shield have not been as satisfactory as I hoped. When a plumbing issue arose, which caused the water to back up in both the toilet and bathtub, I submitted a claim. Although I tend to call and speak with an actual representative rather than using an automated system, I've found that while they initially assure me that things are covered, it often turns out they’re not once the technician arrives.

    For example, we faced a significant issue with our well, initially informed that it was covered by a representative, yet when the technician came out, we discovered the coverage had been declined, leaving us out-of-pocket for a hefty $10,000. Similarly, when dealing with the clogged plumbing, they denied coverage, and we ended up paying over $400 for a plumber to resolve the issue. American Home Shield did not clearly communicate why the coverage was denied each time.

    This experience has led me to reconsider my use of their services, and I've already switched to a competitor before switching back, recognizing there’s little difference between providers. On top of this, they once referred us to a plumber who was no longer in business, which only added to my displeasure.

    When you speak with one of our agents regarding coverage, they communicate the coverage as detailed in the contract. However. they cannot provide an authorization decision at that time. As you have no doubt noticed in your contract, for each system there are a set of failure conditions that are covered, as well as a set of failure conditions that are not covered.

    The technician's on-site diagnosis is needed so that the Authorizer knows exactly what the circumstances of the failure are; it is this complete picture that determines the extent of coverage for any repair or replacement. If you receive a complete denial of coverage, you may always request a second opinion diagnosis. This is performed by a different vendor so as to give AHS the clearest possible information regarding the nature of the failure. If the second vendor determines that the first diagnosis was in error, AHS will adjust the authorization decision accordingly and will assign the second vendor to complete any authorized repairs.

    If I could possibly give a negative star rating of American Home Shield, I would. I said I would never go back to this company however Coldwell Banker used them and I paid for the plan at the closing of my new home. Please do not spend your money with this company without researching all available options in your area.

    #1. The contract states a rekey of up to 6 locks is covered after the "copay". It took several days for AHS to get back to me and after a 10 day waiting period for the appointment, the contractor cancelled at the appointment time and did not plan to offer future appointments. AHS could not find another vendor to do the work. I live in a well-populated area and many locksmiths are within the area. I hired a local reputable and licensed company and personally paid for the work.

    #2. The spring on my garage door broke. I placed a request and the vendor cannot come out for two weeks. I spoke with AHS and they assigned another vendor only to find out that the vendor quit working with AHS over a year ago and has not accepted work orders but keeps receiving them. I called AHS again and they initially denied knowing this information then admitted that it was correct. Again, I am waiting for contact from dispatch if they find a vendor. Please, do yourself a favor and do not choose American Home Shield as your warranty company without checking reputable companies with a good vendor list in your area. Do your research and check reviews. I am going to cancel my contract and consider it an expensive and unfortunate lesson once again with American Home Shield. From my past and now current experiences, they have not changed their business practices.

    American Home Shield does a poor job with coverage. On A/C claim, their first contractor was no contact, no show. Second contractor failed to diagnose and correctly repair unit. The repair lasted less than 7 days. American Home Shield did not warrant the failed repair work and instead offered me the option to Pay $1500 in repairs or buy a new A/C unit for $3500-$5000, depending on the unit selected. They also offered $366 as cash-in-lieu of repair. None of those options made any sense to me in light of the $1800 I paid in premiums or service call fees. Still hoping for a suitable resolution. They are not very responsive. Perhaps my State Attorney General's office will be able to look into their denial in coverages.

    When A+ Maintenance came to service the appliances in the home I've recently moved into due to an inheritance, their service was extremely frustrating. They inaccurately reported that nobody lived in the house because of some outdated food they claimed to have found, leading to a denial of my claim by American Home Shield. The very idea that no occupants were in the house was incorrect, especially since I'm still organizing the space and clearing out leftover belongings.

    Trying to resolve this issue with American Home Shield was equally disappointing. Despite attempts to reach out for a resolution or potential refund, I received minimal assistance. They said they couldn't give me a refund. I tried to get ahold of the supervisor but I got the runaround. My policy, which I had initially kept stable through multiple residences, was ultimately canceled when it became clear their service fell short of expectations. There could be a window where I can reactivate it if everything gets squared away with them but I don't wanna be paying my money for something that wouldn't compensate me or get me some assistance when it's something that's needed.

    Initially, American Home Shield's monthly fee was reasonable, but over the years, it has increased from $79 to $87 without warning or proper notification. The biggest challenges began when my air conditioning unit broke down during extreme heat. The service to fix it was inadequate as the Freon leaked out due to improper sealing, leaving me without cool air for weeks. In the sweltering heat, I resorted to sleeping with frozen water bottles to cope.

    To make matters worse, when American Home Shield eventually replaced the unit, it was the wrong type. The language barrier with the technicians complicated communication further. I ended up paying $3,000 for a so-called modification fee without replacing the outdoor unit, which still has issues with screws coming loose, which means my Freon is leaking out. And if I call AHS, they want me to pay another $100. I feel misled and scammed by these enormous fees, particularly while dealing with health issues. Although they did assist with minor issues like my washing machine and garbage disposal, those instances were overshadowed by the HVAC nightmare.

    Something went out in one of my wall units, where you plug stuff in, but all the technicians did was go to the breaker box and hit a switch, but they never actually fixed what was wrong. They charged me $100 plus my monthly fee for them just to come out and do that. I keep getting ripped off and I want to cancel AHS and find somebody else.

    The guys that came and put the modification in the air conditioning unit were supposed to come in the morning. They didn't show up until 4:35 and did not leave my house until 9:30. One of the gentlemen decided he needed to use my bathroom and stunk my whole house. He didn't even turn the fan on. Then I found out that if I call AHS, I can call somebody that I want to do the work on my house. I don't have to use the people that they recommend. They didn't tell me that because they have their little people that they use.

    Being able to choose my own servicing contractors has led to slightly better service experiences but the damage has been done. I've been overcharged time and again with promises of maintenance that never come through. It's disheartening, especially as a 73-year-old holding onto my independence in my own home. Disillusioned and wary of their increasing fees, I'm hesitant to continue but unsure of my alternatives. My experience has left me feeling exhausted and wary of further engaging with similar services. Despite filing complaints, there’s been no tangible improvement. Tragically, throughout this ordeal, the support and service I received led me to feel that as a consumer, my well-being and financial stability were not prioritized.

    I've been with American Home Shield for about three years now because of their good price. But I've noticed that prices tend to increase significantly when their services are utilized. I was a bit shocked at some high price increases over time like when paying approximately $69 to $1 more quickly — they should notify customers better if increases like that will happen. It’s like something triggers any time I depend on the service and my costs end up higher.

    Initially, I had American Home Shield send out a technician from a company called Emergency Plumbing and Routing, not for an emergency but for ongoing plumbing matters. They were supposed to check on several items around my home.

    Firstly, we faced an issue with our clothes washer. Water was backing up, leading us to suspect a blockage. The technician noted our P-trap was incorrectly placed below the clean out and, considering our old pipes, suggested not to alter it, and I said, "Fine" as we will have future re-piping planned.

    There was also a toilet issue. My husband suspected it needed a wax ring replacement due to a leak, but the technician disagreed, tightened only one screw, leaving the tank slightly crooked.

    In one of our bathrooms upstairs, a drain was leaking. The technician replaced the drain mechanism with a rather conspicuous oversized black plastic part, clashing with existing chrome pipes. Despite reporting this aesthetic issue to the company, their response was that function was prioritized over appearance. It was a big disappointment as now, through a clean pedestal sink, this unsightly piece was clearly visible.

    Lastly, a faucet handle was loose, which the technician managed to fix perfectly.

    In a separate past incident, I had a claim about a dishwasher with American Home Shield. Its detergent hatch couldn't close and the control panel was battered. They dismissed it as physical damage. When I investigated replacing parts myself, I realized the appliance was 24 years old. In fairness, the dishwasher still functions okay today.

    They have done nothing but take our premiums and service fees. They wouldn’t even replace a $20 part for the microwave and instead the technician “cleaned” the old part and two weeks later sparks flew again. We bought the $20 part ourselves on Amazon and no problem since but paid $125 for the first service call. Next was the dishwasher. Said it was fixed and put back and was going to leave and I asked why water was still leaking from the bottom. Oh I didn’t mop it up sorry. Mops it up. Still leaking and he had to open it all up again and suddenly found a broken part. Wow. Now my oven door shattered after I used the broiler. All I did was open the door and turned around to grab something and I heard a pop like a rock hitting your windshield. I looked back and the door was completely cracked.

    AHS sent someone out who said he’d try to get them to cover it. Nope - they said it was user error and something dropped on it. Uh no! We called and complained and they sent another company out. The guy ordered a new oven door but AHS denied it again. So now we are out the service fees and the door is still cracked. We could have just replaced the door ourselves. Silly us to think our insurance coverage would cover repairs. Canceling and never ever doing business with them again. Better to put the premium money into your own emergency fund instead.

    Over the winter, I had an outside water spigot freeze and break on me. Reaching out to American Home Shield was incredibly smooth through their online service. They responded promptly, and within about five days, McCarty Management came out to address the problem. Fortunately, it wasn't leaking water inside or outside the house. The leak only occurred when the spigot was turned on, so it wasn't like it was creating more damage.

Further complicating my experience was a prior issue in January involving a leaky faucet. The service company sent by American Home Shield couldn’t address it entirely due to missing tools, and I’m still left without a resolution.

    While I appreciated the technician’s pleasant demeanor, the jury-rigged solutions and delays highlight areas where American Home Shield could certainly improve, particularly in maintaining their replacement promises and ensuring proper parts and tools are available for repairs.

    The AC's thermostat just turned off and the AC just turned off. AHS sent out a tech and he fixed it. It was working fine for two weeks at the most, then the same thing happened again. He came back out and he said it was the same thing. And the thermostat's battery worked, but the AC still wouldn't turn on. So he fixed it again and said it was due to a loose wire in the furnace. He also said that I had to pay another $125, that I had to do another ticket. But I told him that I thought there was a 30-day guarantee. He said it was for only a few days. But that didn't make any sense.

    My husband told me to just pay the money because it was the AC but I told him that you're really not supposed to pay again. The tech already came out for the same thing and if he didn't do the job right, he needed to fix the problem and not charge me again. If you're not going to fix it completely right and it's going to break and make the person pay again, that's kind of like a scam almost. I also told the people from American Home Shield about it and that I was not going to pay again for the same thing. They just said they understood and it was somebody from overseas. So they said they would be making a note of it. Then a local guy came out and fixed it.

    I've had American Home Shield for many years. I use them and I liked the service. I liked the fact that, if anything happened, you can just call. I know a lot of realtors use it too. My daughter did real estate, so she knew a little bit about it too. The only thing I didn't really like was my experience when I had some plumbing issues one time. They sent a very young plumber out and I didn't feel really comfortable, since he said he had only been doing plumbing for a year.

    I also had a problem when I had an issue with my refrigerator and my microwave. They charged me the money and the techs they assigned were very standoffish on scheduling times. I wanted them to come in the evening time but at 8:00 at night but they asked if we could meet up with us around 2:00-ish. So, we couldn't get a time and a day scheduled. Then, I wanted to meet around 2:00 on a Wednesday or a Monday, and they didn't want to meet up at that time. So, they got paid the $125 to do nothing because the refrigerator got fixed on its own when I defrosted it.

    For the microwave, they never came back for that and it's still broken. All they did was get paid. So I don't ever want to use those people again. We felt like they put us on the back burner because they were not making as much money as they would if they were doing the service on their own. It seemed like we were not priority. So, I would wait to see how AHS would respond to me for the next year and so far, I wouldn't recommend them 100%.

    I joined American Home Shield and paid 8 months of the fees. I requested a maintenance service on my AC unit. The fee is $100. That is fine and worth a maintenance check up. However, my Federal Credit Union credit card denied the payment, reason being it was an 'overseas transaction'. I do not do business with companies that outsource to foreign countries. When I called to cancel the monthly contract, I first had to deal with a foreigner whom I could not understand. I requested a person who speaks English.     My experience with the garage door repair guy was great. The tankless water heater guy was great as well.

    However, the tankless water heater check revealed an issue. The previous homeowner, a contractor, installed it without proper permits and didn't adhere to code. The plumber explained this and then, his boss instructed him not to proceed due to the non-compliance. As a result, we were left without guidance on how to address the incomplete setup, and nobody wants to handle it because of the improper installation.     Please don't waste your money. They deny pretty much all claims and if they do send someone out, they send the bottom of the barrel contractor out. I was denied a claim on a leaking hose bib because somehow my frost-free hose bib was leaking because of frost damage in June....and the plumber they sent out damaged the hose bib further and ruined my expensive garden hose. AHS told me to shove it. Something similar happened with a leak coming from an exposed pipe in the basement. Just check out the Facebook page dedicated to how this company is a giant scam

    My washer wouldn't go into the drain cycle or spin properly. I reported this issue, and American Home Shield dispatched Sears to handle it. The first visit was disappointing as the technician was unprepared. Nobody told it was a stackable. He went outside and came back and said the drain pipe needed cleaning. He did and we tried the washer again but it didn't work. They sent another guy and he said the drainpipe needed changing. He changed it and the washer still didn't go into the cycle. I called AHS again and they sent him again. He said the motherboard needed changing so he ordered that part and said he would come back. The parts came and I called them on a Tuesday and they said they would come back that Wednesday. They called that day and cancelled and said they would come on Saturday. When Saturday came, they cancelled that day and said they would come back on Monday. He cancelled on that day again and came on Tuesday.

    He put in the motherboard and about 10 minutes after he had left, I put a load of clothes in. The washer started making this real loud noise during the wash cycle. I was on the phone with Home Shield while the guy was listening to it and he said he would send somebody out again. I told him the tech needed to come back right then but they said they couldn't do that because he had to go on another thing. Two days later, another guy came who said he had fixed it. I told him to wait and we put some clothes in the washer and it did spin the clothes. This claim started on March 19th and the last visit was on April 5th. I was very upset. I didn't think the repairman should have been cancelling and I understand that the parts had to come in but once them parts got there, when they said that date, they should have been there.

    Despite past positive interactions with American Home Shield, this experience was nearly deal-breaking for me. Their customer service didn't prompt satisfaction, warranting a low rating. I had wished for more accountability from their end, particularly in managing unreliable contractors. The experience has made me reconsider recommending them as readily as I might have done in the past.

    After four months of frustration with my Maytag washer, the situation remains unresolved. The technician from Axis Appliance Repair who was sent to assess and fix the problem turned out to be, in my opinion, inexperienced. He had to return multiple times, and even after replacing a part, the issue persisted. The washer is still not fixed. The communication between Axis Appliance and American Home Shield has not been efficient either. Despite Axis Appliance indicating that they couldn't repair the washer, the replacement process has stalled. I've been caught in a cycle for weeks where American Home Shield waits for reports that should have already been delivered. It's incredibly disappointing.

    While some services, such as plumbing repairs where a different plumber fixed my toilet and minor kitchen leaks, went well, there have been significant challenges. There was an instance where the gas was shut off due to a detected leak. Although American Home Shield sent a qualified plumber, the cost wasn't covered between my place and the meter, contrary to what my contract seemed to promise. They also increased service fees without adequate explanation.

Customer service itself fails to impress, standing at a 2, whilst I rationalize the price point more optimistically at a 3.

    Early on, my experience with American Home Shield was positive; however, recent interactions have left me disappointed. A few years ago, obtaining assistance for various issues became challenging, with services either being denied or not covered. For instance, we recently had a leak under the sink and made the request for service online, the way we usually do. American Home Shield sent Sewer Medic, a company I have had hesitation with, multiple times to address the problem.

    I discovered that this time a Moen faucet part was involved and was told they couldn’t source it because Moen did not produce it anymore. Driven by my trust in Moen's lifetime warranty, I took it upon myself to contact Moen. To my surprise, they promptly provided the needed component within two days, allowing us to fix it ourselves. My concern stemmed from the perception that the communication I received from the repair company, regarding the unavailability of the part, wasn’t accurate, which was frustrating because we had to pay the $100 service fee merely for a visit that didn't advance our solution.

    My dissatisfaction has reached a point where I'm considering switching warranty providers. The decline in coverage and my distrust towards certain service companies associated with American Home Shield diminishes my trust in the warranty’s value. Despite initially being very content with the service, the consistency and reliability I once appreciated aren’t what they used to be.

    I opted for an American Home Shield home warranty with hopes of getting my issues addressed efficiently. However, the journey has been quite frustrating. It all started on December 4th, and here I am, still battling over four months later. Over that time, technicians from Acord Appliance have visited my home five times to address the repeated issues with my refrigerator. Despite the obvious need for a replacement, these visits seem to perpetuate a cycle of ineffectual fixes or uncover new problems, leading to no resolution.

    Discussions around replacing the refrigerator have led nowhere, as American Home Shield insists on sending the same contractor. I even suggested getting a different technician to achieve a resolution or setting a limit on visits for unresolved issues, like a humorous cap at 20 visits, but to no avail. The contractor's visits seem endless with no tangible outcome, and American Home Shield remains unfazed by my escalating concerns.

    The unresolved problems with the refrigerator have caused several inconveniences, including food loss due to freezing in the drawers and leaking issues. What's more troubling is when Acord Appliance erroneously noted that I refused service during one of the visits. This simply wasn't true. Even if it were, the repeated unresolved attempts are the primary issue.

    If I were to rate my experience, I'd give American Home Shield a zero if it were an option. This ongoing, frustrating ordeal is far from the satisfactory service I had anticipated.

    Unfortunately, my latest encounter with a claim to American Home Shield hasn't lived up to expectations. Initially, I faced a plumbing issue in my basement due to leaks caused by frost. I took a proactive step by contacting my local plumber, Turner Plumbing, for an evaluation—which I paid out of pocket for. American Home Shield informed me that they partner with Hero Plumbing and that they would address it. However, Hero Plumbing didn't cover the issue because they deemed it was caused by frost, leaving me to cover their fee of $125 plus an additional cost of $359 for the repair itself.

    This situation was particularly frustrating because I felt I should have been reimbursed for that $125 service fee, as they had done in the past for a refrigerator repair. I've traditionally been loyal, having five different policies with American Home Shield. The rather dismissive response I got, suggesting I wouldn't be reimbursed this time around, is disappointing. Past assurances of coverage, should inside-the-home damages occur, have added to the confusion and dissent.

    Although the contractors from Hero Plumbing exhibited professional behavior during their visit, the overall experience with American Home Shield's customer service rating definitely mirrors my current displeasure. I've been advocating for this refund for about a month without any satisfactory resolution or timeline for one. It’s unfortunate considering my previous experiences with them, prompting thoughts of canceling all my policies if the issue persists. If they resolve it soon by reimbursing me, my perceptions might improve.

    Over the years we've had American Home Shield, any repairs needed have been appropriately managed, and the service has always met my expectations. When contacting American Home Shield, I typically do it online, especially considering the occasional challenge of reaching someone by phone. Their app, however, makes scheduling repairs much easier. For the washing machine claim, calling was necessary, but fortunately, the wait wasn't too long.

    If a friend or family member asked about my experience with American Home Shield, I'd recommend they explore it as an option. My interactions have been pretty positive overall. While there's some room for improvement in areas like turnaround time and ease of navigation, which I'd rate a 4, the value for the cost is quite reasonable.     I've been with American Home Shield since 2001, and initially, they fully covered replacements when items couldn’t be fixed, providing significant value. However, now they impose limits on their coverage, especially for essential systems like heating and air. The reduction in service offerings is another issue—functions like well pump and water softener repairs are no longer part of their package, which significantly affects those of us in rural areas. On top of that, they keep increasing their fees. The expense of $2400 a year doesn’t seem justified by the diminishing returns on covered services and the out-of-pocket expenses for major issues. These reasons are why I can no longer recommend them like I did in the past.

    Whenever there's a major breakdown, American Home Shield’s reimbursement often falls short, which has left me debating if keeping the warranty is worthwhile. My recent encounters with customer service were positive in responsiveness; however, the time it takes to get local technicians is slow because they hire from further cities, avoiding local providers. The quality of service may start high, but the logistic delays undermine its effectiveness. Most recently, Appliance Fix LLC worked on my oven and they couldn't fix it so they replaced it; however, the replacement that arrived was too large. Although we managed to install it ourselves, it was not the smooth process I had hoped for.

    My townhouse was around 16 or 17 years old, and I thought a warranty would be wise, considering the age of my appliances. So far, this decision has paid off, as I’ve been more than satisfied with American Home Shield’s service.

    The first major issue I faced was with my dryer, which had several parts needing repair, including the belts. American Home Shield dispatched Sears for the job, and I was particularly pleased with the service. The first technician was exceptionally friendly, while the second was also good, albeit less talkative. Both performed excellently, with replacement parts arriving at my home within a week before the second technician returned to finish the job.

    When sharing this experience with friends or neighbors, I'd suggest considering American Home Shield if major appliance failures are a concern. However, the cost has become increasingly high, which might not be sustainable for me much longer. For instance, although they provide funds on a Home Depot card for appliance replacements, it doesn't cover all installation and haul-off expenses, and choices are limited to specific purchases.

    Looking back over these three decades with American Home Shield, one notable incident occurred during the winter. My heating unit malfunctioned, and it took about six weeks for a part to be ordered and received.

    Overall, I guess I'd rate my experience with them at about a 3 out of 5. My experience encompasses both positive service and some challenges, like the wait for certain repairs.

    I moved into my new home in November, and I needed a homeowner’s insurance. Interestingly, prior to that, I was unexpectedly dropped by my previous provider, which led me to find this service with American Home Shield through a fantastic agent online. My first experience with them was when my refrigerator started making loud noises, and my food stopped staying cold, even ruining a carton of milk. Eventually, the ice maker also gave out.

    Thankfully, the claim process was relatively smooth. Although my husband handled most of it, a technician was dispatched promptly. They initially advised us to defrost the refrigerator, came back to perform some repairs, and ultimately, everything was fixed—it now works without any issues.

    What I appreciated most about American Home Shield was how quickly everything was resolved. Up until now, the service has been seamless, and I can't think of any specific areas needing improvement. Overall, it's been a 'so far, so magical' experience! It’s been a five-star experience.

    My dishwasher stopped working properly and I reached out to American Home Shield by phone to set up a service request, which was handled efficiently. They dispatched a technician from Express Appliance Services.

    When the technician arrived, he was very nice and seemed to have sorted out the issue. However, once he left, I noticed the dishwasher still wasn't cleaning the dishes properly. The technician had to return, and although he assured me it was fixed, the problem persisted. I felt disappointed with this outcome because I had expected a more definitive resolution.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield since November of last year and this was the first time I used their service. Based on this experience, I wouldn't choose them again or recommend them readily to others for appliance repairs. Nonetheless, my interaction with their customer service was excellent—they were prompt and helpful over the phone every time. But when it comes to their service outcomes, it left much to be desired.

    While I haven't utilised their online service or app, I do prefer communicating over the phone as it feels more personal. Overall, although they got the technician to visit without issue, the fact that my dishwasher remains short of expectations makes my experience lukewarm at best.

    I had a plumbing issue that arose recently and although I've had mixed experiences with American Home Shield in the past, this time was truly exceptional. The technician who came out was professional and organized and communicated everything clearly. He was able to diagnose the leak that others might have missed and fix it promptly, along with addressing a separate drainage problem that I hadn't connected to the leak initially.

    The technician's diligence and professionalism were refreshing, especially compared to those who have not completed jobs properly in the past or even left without explanation. For this experience alone, I'd standby their service again if needed.

    I've had plumbing and other issues with American Home Shield before, facing technicians who fell below professional standards. Some didn't complete the work at all, and yet this recent service stood out for all the right reasons. His willingness to provide clear explanations and their commitment to complete the service left a lasting impression, contrasting significantly with my previous experiences. Although in the past, issues like needing to provide a towel for long-gone responsibility were problematic, I was impressed with the recent technician’s preparedness and communication.

    My long-standing relationship with American Home Shield has been a journey of ups and downs, but this interaction reassured me that quality service is achievable under their warranty plan. Although past transparency in their offered services, especially electronics repairs, surprised me as I discovered was no longer part of the package, they made solid improvements. Ultimately, making this experience with them was highly satisfying with a unique approach towards a still-good service.

    Truly the most disappointing experience I've ever had. AHS refused to cover for the furnace repair claiming it was due to a pre-existing condition when they had proof in their system that the furnace was in good/working condition with no issues. I had my furnace looked at by a dispatch service that they had sent 6 weeks prior. They also put the blame squarely on the dispatching company. I've spoken to the companies they dispatched to my house directly and they all concurred how blatant AHS is in their unfair refusals to pay for repairs. All they do is read a script and say that the problem was existing. Do not pay fall victim to this scam. Please stay away!!!

    I had American Home Shield in place when I purchased my home in May 2023. The warranty was part of the house closing, ensuring everything in the house, like the garage door, was working well. I recently encountered a problem where my garage door wouldn't open fully and I discovered it was due to a broken spring. I contacted American Home Shield, and they promptly arranged for a contractor, Always Open & Shut Garage Doors, to come out. I took initiative, calling the contractor as soon as American Home Shield notified me of who they'd be, and they were incredibly responsive. They came out the same day and fixed the issue promptly, which was reassuring. Since their visit, my garage door has performed flawlessly. Throughout the interaction, the service provided by both American Home Shield and the contractor was efficient and professional.
