I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield, and that went fine. Climatech had to change a fan belt motor on my AC. They recommended that they clean the outdoor compressor area because it was absolutely filthy.

Customer service has always been decent. American Home Shield has gotten not as great over the years, but it is still okay. Several times, they had to do something and then the assigned contractor never contact me. Then I have to contact AHS and then they send it to another one, and then eventually tell me that I could just find my own contractor.

Recently, I had an electrical claim. There was something going on with my smoke detector system and a light switch where the light was not coming on and off. And so, they assigned me to an electrical contractor. He did not contact me till almost a week later. And then, once he did contact me and come and do the work, he did a great job and everything was fine.

Then, whenever they send somebody out to fix the same item multiple times, I wish they had a better process in place for replacement when they try to do something multiple times. For instance, my air conditioning, I have had trouble with it for three or four times. I have been without air for a week at a time or more. All they have been doing was band-aiding the problem. It would be better to have more reliable people to do the work.

A tech was sent out by American Home Shield for our HVAC claim. He said what we have is ancient and it needed replacing. He told us we could probably get it financed through them. At the same time, we have a friend who does HVAC and he gave us a good price. It’s something you can’t beat because he didn’t charge us for labor at all. So he told us to get that estimate and send it to American Home Shield. He said if it’s gonna be under 18, he can’t beat it. It was 14.
American Home Shield was able to help out because our thermostat was really messed up. They did something to fix that, so that’s fine. We were pretty satisfied with that.
However, we also had them come out to look at our dishwasher. It stopped working because it’s not made right. It’s a brand-new dishwasher, but the handle that goes around at the bottom is too close to the shelf, and there’s only one shelf. There’s no place to put it higher. It’s a defective product, but I was wondering if they could fix it in some kind of way. They said no. We decided to get a new one.

We used their online service years ago and didn’t like it at all, but it seems to have improved.

I've had American Home Shield for quite some time, about six years. So far, it's been going pretty good. It's the notch before phenomenal. My recent claim is for one of my refrigerators. I did the claim thing over the phone.

That was a new thing to me because usually I'm talking to somebody and then they'll put me in for services. But they had the automated service where I go in there and pick. And I just tell them what it's for.

And then it sets up and then tells me the service provider who's gonna come service the thing, and they'll be getting in touch. This last technician, I love him. Recently, he just did the refrigerator, and that has to be replaced.

He's been in my house not only for this refrigerator, but he's also done my stove in my basement. He fixed something on my dryer. And then he came out to service my washing machine. But that was gone. So, he's good.

The people who came for my air conditioner, they're really good too because they had to come clean up a mess from the previous people that were before them.

It's worth it. I have recommended them to a couple of people.

I've had good service with American Home Shield. The price is getting a little hyped up, but it's been a good experience for me. I like that my appliances are covered, from my pool pump to anything in the house, plumbing and electrical. It's a good deal.

I submitted a claim for our leaking toilets through the automated system. It wasn't really hard because Price Right Plumbing & Drain called me within an hour to set up an appointment. We discovered the problem on Sunday, and they were out on that Monday.

The contractor was pretty good and professional. He explained everything that was going on. He replaced the gaskets and all the toilets of the 20-year-old house.

The woman who runs the company still hadn't given me the information that I asked her for. She was argumentative and extremely rude. She hung up on me when I was asking her to send the information, so I was severely unhappy with her behavior.

We've lived in our house for five years, and American Home Shield has been out here nine times. We've had so many issues where we've had to call them back out on the same issues.

We don't always get the truth about things. They told me they couldn't get the handle for my freezer, but one guy they sent out the second or third time for it said you just have to order it.

I still have a problem with the upstairs shower. A couple of years ago, it leaked into my kitchen and now the drywall is coming down. They fixed supposedly what it was, but then it started leaking again. I have not called them back out. They said there's no need because they're not going to fix it anyway. There's no way that they could have fixed it properly, because we looked at the area that they were supposed to fix and found a towel wrapped around it.

We had them out four times for a detached garage because the doors wouldn't open. We even bought new remotes that they supposedly programmed right. We would literally have to go out, go inside the garage, and push a button or pull down a string to open it manually. They finally fixed it the last time.

Sometimes we get good people to come out, sometimes we don't. It really depends on what service it is.

On the last service, this guy from BDM Appliance Repair was very informative and excellent. He fixed everything the way he's supposed to. The contractor who came before him had put Whirlpool wheels on my Samsung dryer to make the drum turn, but two of them broke completely off the system.

This gentleman from BDM explained that the wheels broke off because the Whirlpool wheels are real skinny, and the Samsung has wider wheels. You cannot hear that dryer now. Before, it made so much noise you could hear it in the other rooms. He even cleaned out the vent for me, so he was good.

Whoever comes out, whether they're more knowledgeable than the person who came out before, makes a difference. One time, I asked for the same person to come out who had helped me before, but they said they don't do that. I even asked if I could get my own contractor to come out and they would just reimburse me. They said no because they want to have local people.

They do come out and fix it, even though the fix doesn't always work very long, but then I have to pay again for them to come back out. This is the third or fourth time on the dryer. How many times does the thing have to break before they replace it? I pay $100 deductible every time.

I recently put an air conditioner in my house that cost about $7,000, and American Home Shield only paid me around $140 towards it. I have been paying $153 a month for over 10 years, and I'm not satisfied with their compensation based on how many years I've paid them.

Their customer service has pros and cons. Most of the time, it takes too long to get service once a claim is started, although the technician who inspected the air conditioner was professional. My concern is that when you read the contract to them, it’s plain as day, but when they read it, it somehow becomes muddy. They should follow the contract they send out instead of trying to rewrite it when you call in.

I recently purchased a policy with American Home Shield for a property I rent out, and this was my first claim under the new policy. The oven was not heating, although the burners still worked. The technician came out, inspected the unit, and said a part would need to be replaced. He told me he would submit his findings to AHS.

After contacting AHS following their email, I was told that the pictures sent by the technicians showed the problem was caused by a cockroach infestation, which isn’t considered normal wear and tear and isn’t covered by the policy. I didn’t know about the infestation, which was essentially due to the tenant’s neglect. As a courtesy, AHS said they would refund me the service fee.

I have had American Home Shield for about 15 years now. Their service is adequate, and I don't have a problem with it, but the cost goes up every year, which is the problem. I had looked at switching to cheaper insurance, but it really isn't it.

About a week and a half ago, I submitted a claim for my refrigerator because the ice maker wasn’t working. Some of the service technicians they send here have a very thick accent, so it's hard to communicate with them due to a language barrier. I explained that the problem had happened before and that the previous fixes I did did not last. It would revert to the same problem with the ice maker leaking. He said it was fixed, but did not exactly say what he did. But from what I saw, he did exactly what I have done to fix it before. The problem typically returns after a couple of weeks, and I wanted it fixed permanently, but he just kept saying, "I fixed it."

The problem that I've had with American Home Shield is them upholding their end of the contract when it comes to repairs and replacement of appliances. The plumbing pieces of it haven't been bad because they always send A1 and I've never had a problem with them. But when it came down to appliances, I haven't had the best experience with them.

Last year my refrigerator wasn’t getting cold, so I put in a claim and every time a repair person came out, the problem got worse. It went from the refrigerator not getting cold to the freezer not getting cold. I waited for over a month, and the refrigerator was never repaired. They didn't offer a replacement, nor did they offer to even subsidize my getting a new refrigerator or even to replace all the food that I had to throw into the garbage. All they gave me back was the amount that I paid for the service call, which was $125. I had to buy a new refrigerator on my own.

I was gonna cancel them this year, but my dryer blew out on me, so I contacted them about three weeks ago. The service person came out, needed a part, and I’m still waiting. I've had two parts shipped to my home so far. Every week I check my email and they keep rescheduling my service date to come back out to repair the dryer. They keep pushing it out for a week or two. I called American Home Shield and requested to have the appointment rescheduled back to June 5th, the original date and I got an email stating that they rescheduled me for June the 12th, which is in a couple of days. When I checked my messages this morning, I got another message saying that they're rescheduling the appointment for June 18th. So, it’s been a really bad experience.

I waited and waited, and I even called Ultimate Appliance Repair. It had already been a week that I hadn’t heard anything either from American Home Shield or Ultimate Appliance, so I called customer no service. The rep told me to call after 24 hours, and I did, and the next rep I spoke to assigned a different company. They called me back the next morning, scheduled an appointment, he came out, had the part with him and got my dryer fixed, no thanks to American Home Shield. He was nice, very professional, even cleaned out my dryer because it was an old dryer, and did a great job. American Home Shield sent out a repairman who did a great job. I’ve had a few problems with them over the years, which were eventually ironed out. Their customer service, for the most part, has been very good. They have improved, and I can understand them better.

Now I have a problem with them in my rental. I have a very old refrigerator that leaks. Because it is a rental, I get a call from my renters that I have to call American Home Shield. They come out and defrost it, and it’s okay for a while. It happens again and again, and each time I have to call American Home Shield. All they do is come and defrost it. It’s $100 every time they come out. I asked them if I could get a new refrigerator, and the company said that they can’t do that unless the repairman says that I need a new refrigerator. I’m a little bit upset about that.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We’re pleased to hear of your satisfaction with our prompt resolution of the garbage disposal issue through our skilled repairman. However, it’s clear how frustration can arise due to the repeated problems you're encountering with your refrigerator at the rental property.

We completely understand the challenges repetitive repairs pose, and recognize that speaking to different repair technicians per call doesn't seem efficient. Your suggestion of considering a replacement in a timely manner—especially due to recurring issues and appliance age—is understandable.

The tech was so responsible. The previous company that American Home Shield sent for the fridge came four or five times, and I still had the same problem with the freezer not working.

American Home Shield charges $125 for every visit. Sometimes, they come, check, diagnose, and order a part. That’s a little bit hard when they're not able to do anything. When they come and fix it quickly, it’s okay. I like their customer service. When I call, they just hold for two or three minutes. It's very good.

It was assigned to the original contractor, but they declined, so I got a new contractor. The new contractor is supposed to inspect the oven this Friday. I need this resolved because the oven has been down for more than a month now.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for more than 10 years. I keep them because when things go down, I can get it looked at and addressed. I don’t have to do the homework of finding contractors by myself because they have their own approved vendors. They have been able to take care of my issues. I just wish they could also cover other things for the same cost, because I have to pay more if I have to cover electronics. Otherwise, for the stuff that is broken, those things are covered in my current plan.

American Home Shield and Accent did an outstanding job. The condensing unit in my heat pump was shorting out. And it was 40 years old so, because of the age, they couldn't get a part. Not only did the condensing unit need to be replaced but the old furnace wasn't compatible. So, they had to replace the condensing unit and the air handling unit. It's only been in for two weeks since the replacement but it's been working. It has been really hot. It has kept the home in a constant 70 degrees.

AHS is only as good as the people they send out here, and Accent was fabulous.

I had a problem that never got resolved and they resolved the issue. Out of 100%, 96%. I'm satisfied with them. American Home Shield provides a sense of comfort, especially since everything is expensive lately.

We had AHS before but we quit because they raised our price. Then we got them again and it was a little bit cheaper. Recently, we had an issue with a toilet that needed a seal. We put in a request online and AHS set it up. We like the email version of submitting a claim but it could be more timely.

Drain Masters took three days to come in, which is not as fast as we’d like. We also had them do our water heater before, when we first had AHS. They said it wouldn’t affect the flow of my bathtub and it drastically did. So we fought with them for a while and just gave up. We put “Don’t use Drain masters”. But this time, the guy was okay. Overall, my experience was good.

Their customer service has always been good, and the technicians have done well. They didn't just solve the problem. American Home Shield went the extra step. I've had three different plumbing repairs in the last two years. In the first two cases, the parts provided by the contractor fixed the problem. In the third case, the parts that they sent did not fix the problem, so American Home Shield bought me a new faucet for $400.

He gave us several different times that he said he would arrive, but one job before ours took longer than he expected and he got lost.

He apologized and explained what was wrong with the AC. He told us that somebody would call me because a part needs to be ordered. The part was supposed to be in within five days after I pay the first down payment. So, I paid $1100 for the part, but I couldn't understand why I had to pay that much when I have American Home Shield. The lady explained to me that it is because it was the refrigerant that has to be added to the AC.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a microwave magnetron that had gone out and a stove light that was burnt out. I filed the claim online, but I have had issues with the online portal before, because it does not always list the correct options, such as when my AC broke, and I had to choose a different type. For this recent claim, I contacted chat support because I did not see a way to add multiple issues solvable by the same contractor. They had some trouble at first, but figured it out and did it.

The contractors from All Appliance Parts were really good, some of the best I have had. They were friendly, checked everything, took pictures, recognized the problem, and did some more research on the stove light because it was a complex LED setup. They had to wait for all parts to come in before returning because American Home Shield would only pay for one visit back out. It took a while for them to come back out due to parts, but when they did, everything was fixed. The microwave works, the light is on, and I have no issues or complaints about the repair.

I would recommend American Home Shield to someone who is not extremely handy or is busy but willing to deal with going back and forth before a problem gets solved. I have gotten my value out of it, and it can pay for itself, especially with an older home like mine. The monthly price is high, but it can be cheaper if you have enough problems in a year.

We're hearing bubbling that's coming out of the toilets when we're running the showers. And then there's also a shaking sound with the pipes as well. So, it's two different issues, and it's happening in multiple toilets. And so the thing that we put in with American Home Shield was essentially like those are the symptoms. And then Trophy Plumbing came out, and they identified the sewer clean-out on the exterior of the house as the issue and that it was clogged. And so that's what they cleaned out, and we haven't had an issue since. They were incredibly helpful. They were professional and they heard our concerns. And we even asked them questions. And they explained how this is a common thing that happens when this particular part is clogged.

That's the first time we put in a claim, and we had a positive experience. We’ve had it for a month. Our Realtor suggested getting a home warranty. And we heard positive reviews about American Home Shield. We're first-time homeowners, and we hear mixed reviews about having a home warranty system, but it was a positive first experience. I have a couple of other claims I need to put in, so I’m hoping to receive the same quality of service and responsiveness.

Island Breeze HVAC came out. They looked at the unit. And then next thing you know they sent me a quote for $3,000 for the replacement of a $7,000 unit. I contacted AHS to see how much of the repair they were going to cover. And they said it’s around $200. I asked American Home Shield why I am getting a $3,000 repair quote when they are only paying $200 to repair.

At first, they were telling me they couldn't discuss with me what the amount was, only because I was asking the HVAC company and I was asking American Home Shield what the amount was. And then the company also told me that AHS wouldn't disclose with him how much exactly they were paying. And he said that all he could tell me was that you guys were going to send him the evaporator system. He didn't know how much AHS purchased it for or from where.

So, after I contacted them numerous times, the only valid answer that I got was that the way I would get an amount was for me to do a cash out and that AHS did not approve to replace my AC. They only approved it to fix it. I told AHS that the contractor gave me two options, repair or replace. And if I'm the homeowner and I choose to replace, if I'm going to invest $3,500 on a unit, I'd rather invest $7,000 on a brand-new unit where I'll have a 10-year warranty and it's a new unit.

American Home Shield gave me a payout of $200. So, I'm going to call to cancel my membership. If anything happens, I'd rather save that money so I can replace whatever goes wrong in my house than sit here and hassle with American Home Shield. My mom had it for about 15 years. And that's the reason why I went with AHS. But I’m very dissatisfied.

I get the information and I get the service, so I know what to do to keep things going when they leave. When I filed a claim, the process was pretty easy. I did everything online and American Home Shield followed up quickly. I like being able to request a service and getting the service has been very easy.

We initially thought the issue was our washing machine. Technicians took a look at it. The washing machine was working just fine. The issue wound up being in the drain. We requested a plumber and one came out. The drain was really difficult for him to even get open. He advised us that American Home Shield would be able to cover what he was able to get open. But we were probably gonna need to pay for somebody to bring out a commercial thing and flush the line. We did just what he could get open, which has been working very well. The technician was good and really on it. He was really very nice and explained everything to us in detail. He was a big help and he went over and above.

Our freezer got warm but our fridge stayed cold. Later that day, the fridge got hot. I called American Home Shield and put in a claim. A tech came out and assessed it. He looked at a fan circulating something and also looked at the ice maker. The ice wasn't working either. He scheduled another visit and came back in when the parts got in. The unit got cold and the ice was melting in the freezer. But the stuff was freezing in the fridge. The tech came back again. The unit was getting warmer as my wife lost some of her medicine that had to stay refrigerated.

I met with the tech one time and he said it was not consistent or it was not cooling or leaking. He said he or American Home Shield would get back to me. If I hadn't heard anything from American Home Shield, he said it would be Monday. But Monday was Memorial Day. I saw on the app that the estimate had been done. I left it alone. A couple of days later, they submitted the determination and the replacement.

American Home Shield sent me the link to pick out my fridge from Lowe's. They gave me an online gift card and nothing was in stock. My wife went to Lowe's and picked out a new fridge. I am shocked that it actually fits in the exact same hole. None of the trim had to be moved. Yesterday, techs came and installed the . Everything has been completed.

This is the first claim I had with American Home Shield. I like the communication between the app and submitting the claim, and then the communication back from American Home Shield that the claim has been assigned. A tech texted me to ask me some basic questions like where I was and if anybody was gonna be there. He asked what the fridge was doing. It was quick.

When he was on his way to my house, he texted me, "ETA, 9:15." He was there within minutes of that. It wasn't like, I'll be there between 10:00 and 2:00 and show up at 1:59. The one time that I met with him, he had his tools, paper, and flashlight. He looked at things, checked things, and was very professional. It was easy, simple, and quick dealing with American Home Shield. It's definitely worth the money.

The home warranty company I was with decided to come out of the home warranty business. I then chose American Home Shield as it looked to have the best price and coverage that I could find. I've been pleased with them. I had an issue with my refrigerator, but we got it solved. The freezer door would not shut and it stopped cooling. American Home Shield sent somebody. The first person who came didn't want to fool with it and said, "Can't do anything with it." The home warranty had always said that if they couldn't fix something, they would replace it.

I went round and round with them about either fixing it or replacing it. I was not pleased with the two earlier companies they sent. They just came in and said, "We can't do anything with it. We'll send in the report." Apparently, the report never got sent. The third person who came was from Long Beach and he was an older gentleman. He was perfect. He took some time to look at the refrigerator and realized that it was a compressor. He actually pulled the refrigerator out and took the part off. He then fixed the door for me on-site. That issue finally got resolved. But I went probably two weeks without this refrigerator. I had one in my garage that I could use, but I got pretty irritated with American Home Shield about that.

Any other time, American Home Shield has been great. You can't beat a $100 deductible when the repair is gonna cost so much more than that. They just went up on their price by about $25 a month, which is a jump. But they go up every year, which is expected. Overall the price is good still.

In my experience, American Home Shield has given me the overall best service I've had. Customer service is great. But when I've had to talk with people, I have a hard time hearing. Many of the people have a foreign accent, which is hard for me to understand. That aside, American Home Shield encourages me to have my system checked. I went to their website and mistakenly clicked on something indicating that I had a problem. But it was supposed to be preventative. Two young men came and they were wonderful.

I wish I had gotten more coverage with American Home Shield from the get-go. But the coverage is good and it's been pretty comprehensive. I haven't had much other than the AC, the heat, and the refrigerator. That's really all I've ever used my warranty for. I had a sewage problem at one time, but it was something that was not under the coverage. We couldn't find my water shutoff and that was something that was done with the building of the house. I got a plumber for that and we were able to get that rectified.

I would encourage anyone to look at American Shield. I have encouraged my daughter to get it. When they built onto their house when they got married in October, I said, "This thing has saved me many a day." I had an old AC system and that got replaced.

We had some plumbing in our yard that broke, and my understanding was it was covered. We called, paid the $100 call fee, and they came out. The plumber, who was excellent, said that he needed approval to fix the problem because he needed to cut a pipe. His request was rejected because according to American Home Shield, it fell outside the parameters of what they covered, but we still had to pay $100 even though he wasn't allowed to fix the problem. They totally ripped us off $100 and I wasn’t happy about that. I'm gonna cancel my policy with Home Shield because it's clearly a scam.

That wasn’t the first time they’d done something shady. My dishwasher was clogged and someone came out and fixed it, but it broke down two weeks later, so he wasn’t great. There's supposed to be a 30-day warranty. We called on the 30th day, and they said it had already expired. So, we had to pay another $100 to get it fixed even though according to their own rules, we would have still been under warranty. So, I'm done with this company. I think it's a total racket.

It's also weird that the people they contract to send out to us, sometimes they're great and sometimes they're really not, and it's very suspicious. They say all these kinds of repairs that are needed that really aren't. That's what happened with my furnace and I'm tired of having to deal with these people. I'm paying money for insurance, and I can't trust the people they send us.

The last time they came out, I had a problem with my ice maker, and they couldn’t repair it, so they gave me a new one, so that was cool.

The only problem I have with Home Shield is once I pay that initial fee they come out and assess it and then they come out again to put a part in, and every time anybody comes out, it's almost $80. They should be able to have it on hand. My ex-wife also has American Home Shield, and she had an issue with two ice makers. He had to come out four times until he just replaced both ice makers. So, they handle it. When they come out, they do a good job, so overall, it's good.

I had some difficulty getting a good technician in the past with American Home Shield. But my last two claims were fine. For the pool, the guy did a good job and replaced the motor. It was cracked. For the plumbing, the tech did a good job as well. That was for the bathroom valve. He came out, found the problem, put in a new cartridge, and fixed the problem. Everything's working fine. I got American Home Shield for my vacation home, which is in another town. That's functioning fine.

It’s been about three years now since I have American Home Shield. It's pretty good for the most part. The online correspondence is a little tricky sometimes because you have more questions than you're able to get asked online. But speaking to a rep directly have definitely been more beneficial and more informative. But overall, it's been a good experience.

The contractors are knowledgeable, most of the time. They seem to be experts in their field. If they aren't able to assess or address whatever issues I'm having, they're good as far as identifying resources or service providers that could help with the issue. So again, overall, it's been a positive experience with the technicians.

American Home Shield is worth looking into if people want to make that investment for extra protection. It's available. A lot of people don't know about home warranties, may not have the additional income for the product. But if the resources are available, I definitely think it's worthwhile. Especially if you're like me, not very technical, not very handy. It's always good to have somebody you can call when you need immediate service or assistance

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a decade and their customer service is below average. I almost always file claims online, which works very well.

Recently, I had a light switch that needed replacement in my garage. They sent the company out here and the guy was nice, he was prompt, and everything was great. When he left, the switch was installed backwards. So when the switch is up, the light is off. And when it's down, the light is on. I called to complain and the guy was something else. He's the rudest, with absolutely no customer focus. He was horrible.

He insulted me, told me that, as an adult, he was shocked that I didn't know more about electricity. He was totally insulting. He was completely inappropriate. It’s been a couple of weeks, and until now, the light switch is still backwards.

I had a problem with my heating. The thermostat, when I turn it on, it would start to go. The fan outside the house would start to move. And about 2 seconds later, it would stop, but it would never start. I filed the claim online and they responded quickly.

This time, unlike the last time, the vendor contacted me right away. When I contacted them, they actually answered the phone. When they set up the appointment, the appointment was done in a reasonable amount of time. They got back to me. The person had a difficult time at the previous client on the day that they were to come out, and the office contacted me. The technician stayed in contact with me. When they came out, they were very courteous, very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. It was a very good experience unlike the last one.

I've had American Home Shield for 15 years at least. They make it so difficult, though. I had Patriot Plumbing scheduled for a backup the first time. I canceled it because I already had somebody to come in. They couldn't come in till today and it was an emergency situation this weekend where my sewer had backed up. The original claim was a pipe was leaking and it was denied because there wasn't any straps. I told Patriot Plumbing that I had been in the house 30 years and I've never heard or seen straps. Another plumber that came in that I had to hire outside of them said that there was a strap, but it wasn't within the amount of feet that it's supposed to be, and he showed me where it was. It was on the other side of the wall where there was a bathroom. He denied it and he wanted to charge me $1,000 to fix a pipe that somebody charged me $400 to do.

When I asked for a second opinion, AHS said that they didn't have any other providers that could come out for a second opinion. They canceled out everything and put me in a spot where I can't really appeal because they didn't have anybody else to come out because they don't have any other providers.

This is not the first time I've had to go through the wringer. I had a hot water heater that bust and it took them three weeks to get somebody to come out. I lived without hot water for three weeks and had to end up getting my own getting somebody to put the water heater in. Of course, they cash you out. They don't give you anything near what it costs to do it or replace the hot water. The hot water heater itself was about $300.

I had stuff that came through without a hitch. If it's an appliance like a dryer, it's no problem with the replacement. But not when it comes to any type of repair that requires manual labor. I've been told by several plumbers and people that AHS has sent out that the reason why they don't have any providers in this area is because they don't want to work with them, which is not good. They have one plumber in this area, Patriot Plumbing.

I pay my $100, I get nothing, and they don't want to reimburse me the $100 because somebody came out. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I didn't get the services that I needed to have taken care of and I still had to go out on my own. If I went with the plumber that they sent out, I would have paid double of what needed to be done. That's crazy. If your procedure is to have a second opinion, then you should have someone there that can provide that service of a second opinion and not say, "We don't have any more providers." We revert to the original provider's decision to not pay the claim, I'm stuck because I'm out of $100 deductible that I had to pay for the services I got nothing from. I've requested my deductible to be replaced, but I haven't heard anything. I doubt if I will.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since 2017. Generally, customer service is good. I had some issues with the washer’s drum. The bearing broke, and the contractor AHS assigned to me came over filed the assessment, but either they can’t fix it or it was expensive to do so. I was offered some cash or could purchase a washer through the website. It got installed today. My issue is that the contractors they select are most of the time are not good enough. My oven repair went well, and I had very good experience with the last contractor, which is rare. When I checked the reviews after I was assigned to this company, they had good ones. The appointment was booked immediately and I had high expectations. Unfortunately, most of the time the contractors they assign aren’t really professional. The last claim with my leaking garbage disposal is still open. I have to fix it.

One of the problems that I've had with American Home Shield is that the technicians that they send out are basically not happy about doing an AHS call. I paid the $125 service fee and have been paying my premiums all along. However, technicians have a rate that's negotiated lower than what technicians would charge usually and customarily.

Elite Appliance came out due to issues with some of the appliances, one of them being a refrigerator freezer that they worked on multiple times. They also worked on a GE washing machine that was leaking and a GE dryer as well. In addition to that, since I've been dealing with AHS, I had a lot of problems with my original cooktop that was 23 years old. The guy that came in did something. The cooktop started sparking, causing the porcelain inside to scorch. The handle fell off as well when I opened it. I sent in multiple requests. The microwave won’t stay closed as well.

My washing machine was a top-of-the-line Maytag that had everything. Elite Appliance came out several times but couldn't fix it. AHS was supposed to send me a cashout but never did. I got tired of going back and forth to the laundromat. I went on at least eight different occasions, and every time I did a wash, it was $6 then another $4 to dry. It killed the whole day, too.

While waiting, they sent out an individual. He took him a long time to come though, and English was not his primary language. I always try to take the high ground and tried to be empathetic with him. I got him to try to talk to AHS but he refused. He stuck in a non-OEM coil that was smoking and some of the other coils were not coming on. I had to go for periods of time using a hot plate. I made sure that the gentleman for Elite Appliances took the pictures and examined the cooktop and the microwave that I put in. He could see that it was two brand-new units.

I never got the cashout for a GE four-burner electric cooktop and the GE over-the-range microwave. I ended up going out and purchasing items. I went to Lowe's, one of AHS’ people, and they had a unit that somebody purchased, but didn't like the color. The unit was on retail at $1,300. I explained to the manager what happened. He sold me the unit for $300 with a full warranty. It had a weird color and had a little dent on the side, but they can't resell it as new because it had been sent to somebody and they returned it. It was in their marked-down area.

For the cooktop, AHS has the buying power to purchase appliances at wholesale or below wholesale. After I called in, they're supposed to call me and make a diagnostic visit within 24 to 48 hours. They came out, did a diagnosis, then reported back to AHS. The guy said, “It probably needs to be replaced,” but AHS told him no.

I'm a single disabled parent, blind in one eye, use a walker, and low-income. I've got three young children under 18 that I have to cook for, and especially utilize the microwave a lot, which is approximately 13 years old. I wasn't asking for a fancy-dancy upgrade. I was saying, “Give me one that functions.” Also, all the appliances are white. To try to get a white cooktop and a white microwave, they couldn't do it. They said they ordered a handle, which didn't match, and the door of the microwave was cracked. The inside was all burn marks and it wouldn't come on. I went to Lowe's again and talked to the lady in the appliances. I said, “Can you please keep your eye out for any specials that are coming up that I can get?”

I paid approximately $350 for the microwave, $300 for the washing machine, and $350 for the electrical dryer. Bottom line is I wasn't gonna continue. I did not get reimbursed for the cooktop, washing machine, microwave, and dryer. We had a big family reunion that came up a couple of months ago and family and friends from all over the country were coming to the house. I couldn't use my appliances, so I bit the bullet.

Another item is clogged drain, 'sludge not suppose to be there' cost extra to open drain. Another item, waiting 5 days with 105 degree temperature for the tech to arrive and say 'we don't service that brand' - waiting 3 more days for AHS to follow-up with a resource. 8 days of over 105 degrees, I called my own provider to give it more coolant. Simple solution. Still have not heard from AHS. Don't waste your time or money. Use next-door to find a good quality person to actually fix the problem!

There was water in the vent of the dryer, so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The contractors were fine. This is the first time I've had to have them come out a second time. They came out twice because we didn't understand how the water got in the vent, and we didn't want to touch it. They said it's a recall order. The same company came out, unhooked the vent, and checked everything out. The problem was resolved. My timer was also replaced on the dryer, so it's now working perfectly. I did not have to pay another service fee for that. However, there are certain things that's not covered in the warranty. They did not cover the lint inside the vent that's connected to the dryer. No one can help me with that because that's not part of the dryer and we should be able to get that lint out ourselves.

But overall, I have not had any issues with them in the last couple of years since I've had their warranty. The customer service is great. When you submit a claim, they give you a number, or the company calls you and then they set up the appointment. When I call, I get someone out within 48 hours. Someone will call me in the next day or two to set up the appointment, and then they show up. The contractors that they sent to my house were professional, and they got the job done excellently. I've recommended them to others.

I was without a washer for over two months due to an LF error. American Home Shield took so long to address it. Express Appliance was the first company to come. They came four times and were worthless. They kept throwing parts at it, and it wouldn't fix it. They didn't even take the machine apart, barely listened to what we had to say, and got into an argument with one of the guys on the phone about what the problem was. He kept telling me that I was wrong.

I had to call American Home Shield several times to argue about getting a new person to come out and look at it. They wouldn't let me switch vendors, and tried to charge me to get another vendor to come out. Then a new person came out and looked at it. The new guy was very thorough. He reviewed the bunch of codes on the main board and saw all the error codes that we were getting. After a couple of days, I got my new machine.

The customer service seemed okay, but the website is not. They took off something on the website that makes it very difficult now to cancel a service call. I had to call and actually try to talk to somebody to cancel their service call. I hate calling them. Sometimes, I would sit on hold for 15-20 minutes. They said that they’d call me back, but they didn't. It takes a while to get through to them, and it's very canned. I could tell that they're going through a script.

I have very little positive to say about American Home Shield. They're way too expensive, so I'm not renewing my contracts next time we move. It’d be nice if there were more items covered. I had a couple of things that they wouldn't cover so I had to pay out of pocket. I wanted to dump them, but my husband didn't want to.

They saw what was wrong and fixed it, and I paid 100 bucks for them to come out.

The contractor went in, figured out what the issue was, said that there was a part that he needed to order that would take like a week or so. And then he came back out with the part, swapped it out. Since then, everything seems to be performing fine.

I have also submitted claims for my refrigerator that broke along with a couple other smaller ones, and they were resolved quickly. But, there was a sprinkler issue that I had that was outside of the house, and that was denied. Still, I like how easy it is to get a quick response and somebody come out and fix it. It’s always a plus. It pays for itself as long as you use it. But, they should also cover components outside of the home, not just inside the home.

I have a toilet that is broken. Somebody just sat down on it to go to the bathroom and broke the toilet bowl. The back just blew up. It was my uncle. He has special needs, and he sat down and leaned back on it like a seat, and it broke. So then that was the initial call. Then three weeks ago, I noticed the sinks were leaking in the bathroom. So, that's why I made the claim on the sinks, and I had taken them out to fix them.

I showed them the broken parts, and the technician said it was because of the way they built it. Both bathrooms have the same issue. They over-tightened it, and over time, that plastic will break so, that's where the leak was. It was the drain. And we got denied for the repairs on those. They think it could be negligence. They would claim that as not suitable to fix so it would be on the customer.

We tried to reach out to talk to someone else and get an explanation, however, it was after hours. Shortly after that, my grandma passed away, and we've been busy with a whole bunch of other stuff, so the toilet's the last of my worries.

This is my first claim in 3 years. I've been paying a decent amount of money to this company–$50 a month for 3 years. And we paid $125 just for the tech to come out and check it out. And now, I'm down $125, so we're thinking about canceling. We were supposed to call them and try to dispute the 125 because it was denied and they couldn't do any repairs or do anything for us.

My mom has AHS and she's had two or three really good experiences where they came in, low deductible, $50, and they fixed the issue, and that was it. So I was glad I have them but then turns out that they were worthless. I've been paying this money for an insurance that's not even there.

I started off with Select Home and had such a horrible experience with them with the air conditioning unit that I immediately canceled and told them to give me back my money because I paid for three years in advance. As soon as I canceled with them, I started looking for a new company. And my sister said AHS is good. I went ahead and got them and they're not very good for me because it cost me over $1200 to make that repair and I got nothing from Home Shield.

It was over the phone. And then I had a chat with one of their professionals there. I did a video chat with him. And that was very good and very pleasant. I had high hopes that it was gonna be fixed. But they denied the claim and I had to pay for it myself.

The tech showed me a picture of the pipe when they dug it up. It's a cast iron pipe. It's a 2-inch pipe and there was a hole about an inch wide. Before I bought the house, someone tried to do a repair, and the way they did it was just pouring cement over the pipe. So, they had to pull all that out and they put in the PVC pipe from the house over to where that was, and then they did a shoe on it and a buckle. So, it's fixed now. My washing machine no longer overflows. I can do washing and the dishwasher at the same time now. So, basically, Home Shield was a waste of my money.

And then when I started moving into the house, it wasn’t working, so I called them and then they said that it was not covered. Nevertheless, the guy who came out was nice.

I called and there was a manager that I spoke with, but they were truly horrendous. They were part of the problem. I wanted to share the home inspection that I got, and they said that they do not accept the home inspection because it is from over three months ago.

I asked, “Then how do I prove to you that this was working beforehand?” They said, “You need an inspection from within three months.” I replied, “When I bought the policy, why wasn’t that told to me? Why wasn’t the three-month rule that you are now creating told to me?” They said it is in the policy. I read the policy. I asked where and they could not. The guy wanted to hang up on me. It’s an absolute scam that they are pulling. It is terrible, so find somebody else.

American Home Shield is a good thing. I think everybody should have it. I filed a claim for my main breaker over the phone. I couldn't get it to come back on. And then they had called the contractor and they gave me the number to the facility, and that they were gonna schedule.

I actually called Sunbelt myself once they gave me the number. Then they came out. The interaction was great. I'm really apprehensive about the problems with the plumbing companies they'd sent out.

I was in the restaurant business for 35 years, so I know a hell of a lot about service companies. So, I like American Home Shield. But sometimes, some of the people they send out are a little sketchy. Well, they have a list of service companies that other people have used.

And when they give me a name, I can quickly google that company and see whether or not I wanna deal with that company. Whereas if I just called up somebody random, I could be wasting my time for a couple days.

But the interaction with Sunbelt, I thought it was awesome, from the phone person, to whoever scheduled the appointment, and to the guy they sent out, Montana. He did a great job. They even got me out sooner than what they told me they were gonna schedule. So, I was happy.

There was a problem with my main breaker, its cabinet. So, he shut all the power off. I don't like messing with the main breaker. He had to turn all the breakers off and turn them back on, and he fixed the door.

American Home Shield also fixed my microwave one time. And for 75 bucks, I got another microwave. I think it was the magnetron. They're not always great to have, but if I was gonna try to sell it to somebody, I’d say you're probably better off with it for the amount of money you pay.

They raised your deductible. Originally, it was like 50 bucks. Then it went up to 75 bucks. Now, it's 100. I get it. But it's a good thing to have. Because nowadays, a lot of these service companies get backed up. Their biggest problem right now is getting good help.

So, they narrow the field as far as how many service companies you wanna get in touch with.

Im good with their price, and I hope they don't raise it anymore.

We've always been satisfied with American Home Shield. The shower wasn't draining. So, we filed a claim. We always do it online, and it's pretty easy. The contractor that came out there was fine. He called me. I met him out there because we requested about a 10-15 minute heads-up.

Well, he called me that morning and he said he’s the guy who's gonna fix our deal. I think he was from a plumbing company. And he gave me a heads-up that it's probably gonna be sometime around the lunch hour.

And then he called me about two or three hours later, and said, it's taking just a little bit longer. I said that's fine and don't worry about it. I can leave work whenever I get to. He said he'd be there in 20 minutes, and he was there. I told him what the deal was.

He’s very courteous and very attentive to what I was saying. He looked at it, went out to the truck, got what he needed, came back in, took the drain cover off, ran that thing, and cleaned the shower up. He was there for 30 minutes. And it's great. Also, he cleaned everything up.

It's good customer service because I'm in the customer service business myself. Sometimes a text or an email is basically all you need sometimes, but every once in a while we'll get a phone call. I like it.

Every time we send an email request for something to be worked on or get fixed, usually, within about an hour, I'm getting a text on my phone that somebody will be contacting me. Now, if it's in the afternoon, they said, we'll be contacting me tomorrow, and I'll get that response.

I'd tell my family and neighbors that if they're moving or somebody moving in, they need a home warranty. If they don't have one, definitely give these people a shout. Give American Home Safe a try.

We had a problem with the toilet and ended up needing to replace the shutoff valve under the toilet. The original valve, installed when the house was built in '72, was wearing out and no water was coming through it. It wasn't flushing or filling very quickly at all. Sean, the technician from American Home Shield, replaced the shutoff valve. He also cleared up the sediment that built up in the toilet that was contributing to our first problem. Our second problem was the outdoor faucet. We couldn't turn it on and it has a plastic handle. It must have been the original and it had broken, so when the handle was turned, no water was coming out. Sean replaced that with a metal handle. It is now working fine.

We were really satisfied with how both problems were addressed. American Home Shield has always provided excellent service. Once in a while, there's been a problem where they thought they completed the project and we still had a recurring problem. So, they came right back out and corrected it. We've been very pleased with them.

They dealt with my wife when they first came out. They ordered and replaced a part that was damaged. Once they took that part out, they realized there was far more damage. And then they contacted the company. They decided that it wasn’t worth repairing, and so American Home Shield sent us a replacement value.

I have been with them for 10 years, and it was part of our home purchase. We had the option to continue with it and so we have. Any time we have had an issue, they have been definitely helpful. They make arrangements to deal with your issue at hand, and they send someone out. They send you text messages, letting you know that you’ve got a repair person coming. It is prompt. The only issue I had with the website was when they told me to go there, but it took a couple days for me to actually log in and make it work. Still, if you’re considering a home warranty, they would be the company I’d go with.

My last message to summarize: I am not seeking reimbursement or a repair of the unit. I am requesting a credit toward a replacement unit through Frontdoor, based on the sequence of events and the role your assigned vendor played in the unit’s failure. We are willing to pay some of the repairs as well. Your response continues to cite the involvement of an outside contractor as the reason for refusal of service. However, that position ignores the core issue — That the unit was already damaged, and that damage was caused by Complete Comfort, the AHS-assigned vendor.

According to the licensed HVAC technician I hired, the circuit board was already burned prior to any work they performed. Their written diagnosis indicates that:
•The furnace control board had already failed before their arrival.
•A bypass was approved by to temporarily operate the system by manually controlling it at the breaker. It had already been over two weeks since the claim had been filed with small children in the house.
•The bypass was not responsible for damaging the system; it was a stopgap, not a cause of failure.

•Most critically, the technician confirmed that the previous vendor (Complete Comfort) had incorrectly wired low-voltage lines to the high-voltage load side at the disconnect, which is a serious error that would explain the original damage to the board.

    To be clear:
•The decision to temporarily bypass the board did not cause the damage — It allowed the system to run manually while I waited on AHS, who had been unresponsive for three weeks.

•The control board had already been diagnosed by AHS’s own vendor as needing replacement — The technician even ordered the part. The lack of communication from the vendor caused me to bring a 3rd party.

The steps to issue a credit through Frontdoor for unit replacement, considering the breakdown was clearly due to vendor error. I understand you have a business to run and I have family to feed. All I’m asking is for understanding and help to get the matter solved.

The vendor knew or should have known that the unit they ordered a was incompatible with the existing electrical capacity in my home. American Home Shield approved of this unit being ordered but has refused to pay for the installation.

I have been dealing with this claim since October. It is now mid June and the AC in my house still doesn’t work. Recently, Ace's Garage Door Repair worked on our automated garage door that has an activation switch on the wall, but has the garage remotes. And what's happening is at random times, the garage door is just opening and closing. So we'll go to bed on the night or I'll go to work in the morning, and my partner will get up and the garages are open. It obviously leaves us exposed to theft.

The first guy came out. He had a look at it, didn't go very deep. And then left. It's still happening. Second guy came out. I wasn't there, but I believe we programmed the system. But it's still happening. And there was somebody due to come out this morning, but they've canceled again, and I'm not sure when they've rescheduled. They haven't resolved the problem.

The guy from River City Appliances was all right. He was good. I talked to him a little bit and he seemed to be a nice fellow. And I was well-satisfied with him. He just said he was gonna talk to AHS and explain what it was doing. And then he was leaving it up to them that the unit was old. It was not really worth putting the money into it.

The seal was all in bad shape which is why it was leaking. AHS told me they were gonna replace it. I was very satisfied. I went ahead and went with the first thing that showed up which was Amana. They've done me good. I'm very satisfied with the service so far. However sometimes you have two problems. And you call it in and if the guy doesn't do that particular work, that's aggravating. I had that happen with the microwave. When I called for the fridge, I forgot to tell them about the microwave. I could have gotten that covered too. I'm not gonna pay $100 for a call-in and for $50 or $25 handle. And it should be under warranty.

I’ve been with AHS for four years. My buddy told me that he had it. My mother-in-law passed away and we ended up with the house. So, we just fixed it up and then rented it out. And so, I put it on under the plan so I wouldn't have to mess with it. And then I come across another house and I put it under the same plan. So, I got two houses under American Home Shield. My sister and my nephew signed up for it after I talked to her, when I first put it on these two properties.

I was well-satisfied with Elite and River City. They're both good, done their job, and done what they're supposed to do.

I’m always telling all my friends about American Home Shield. I tell them that if something happens, they just pick up that phone, and people will come and fix it. They don’t have to worry about paying thousands of dollars right away. I’ve had very good service with them. On my most recent service, someone came right away. Electricity was not going through the unit. He found out the batteries were corroded and the cables were loose on the thermostat. As soon as he fixed that, I haven't had a problem.

I was with them before and left because I couldn’t afford their prices. I went with a cheaper one. I called that company when my microwave broke, and they told me to get a contractor and just send them the bill. I said, “What?” I called back American Home Shield and told them the reason why I left them was because I’m on Social Security on a fixed income and couldn’t afford them. They said they have a program to help senior citizens. I was paying $180 a month before, and they took it down to $69 a month. But where my house calls used to be $75, now it’s $125. The whole idea of having this is so that I don’t have to call somebody that will come to my house. That's why I went back to American Home Shield, that they can call somebody reputable that they recommend.

The panel on my dishwasher was not turning on. I went online and requested the service. The service provider came and asked me to remove everything because he had to turn the water off. He asked me where the circuit board was so he can turn the power off for the dishwasher. I heard the cycle once he finished. When the panel didn’t work again and there was water at the bottom, I asked for a second visit. The provider came over and did the same thing. They didn’t have the part that was misfunctioning, so they ordered that. He came back, replaced the part, and ran a cycle. The next morning, I found that there’s water at the bottom again and the panel is still not working. I told my husband he would need to call the service provider to have him visit again.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since 2009. I keep them because I don’t wanna have to look around for somebody when I have an issue. I just pay them, and if it’s covered, they’ll take care of it. They’ll do the leg work for me. With someone else, you have to pay them for the labor, the actual time they take to fix, and the parts that they will replace. I don't have to worry about that with American Home Shield. I like that I can go online and submit my work order. They’ll assign it to a provider and contact me within 24 hours with a schedule. If they don’t call me, I can call the provider directly.

Our refrigerator stopped cooling. The guy who came out told my husband that it needed Freon and a part. He came back, and I assume he did what he said he was gonna do because it started cooling. A week or two later, it stopped cooling again, so I called them. The receptionist told me they needed to order a part. It turned out the guy didn’t replace the part the first time. They sent him out again, but he didn’t come out. I called again, and no one returned my call

I finally called American Home Shield. The rep said that the refrigerator could not be repaired and that she would send me a check. She told me a certain amount and that they took the service call off of it. I had never heard that before in my 20-some years with AHS. I was very disappointed when I heard that. She said it would be 21 days before I get the check. I’m without a refrigerator for months.

I’m very dissatisfied because this has been going on for a long time. We even called someone to come out, and they told us they could not come out and work behind someone else. AHS even sent Sears, and Sears refused to even look at the refrigerator because someone had been out prior to them.

In the beginning, they were great. My niece recommended them to me. I had them come out to do work before, and the coverage was fine up until recently with the refrigerator. Now I go to the mailbox every day, looking for a check, and there’s nothing there. Plus, their price went up. I started out paying 30 something dollars, and now it’s up to 100 and some dollars. If someone asked me today if I would recommend them, I would say no.

I’ve had multiple issues, and the contractor came to fix the microwave, dishwasher and dryer. However, the microwave still has issues. The arm of the dishwasher keeps falling off. The refrigerator’s ice maker is still not working. The only thing that’s working is the dryer, so I did a follow-up.

American Home Shield has been sending me notifications that the parts for the dishwasher are about to arrive, and I know most of the parts should be in by now, but they weren’t here. I haven’t heard from them about making an appointment.

I’ve had American Home Shield for a long time ever since I bought the house. The website used to be a lot better, but now it doesn’t have a list of all services. I had to call AHS to put in a claim because hardly anything was on the list, it doesn’t have any of the appliances, furnace or air conditioning. It’s very vague.

Their prices for calling and monthly service have gone way up, and the quality of service right now is going down compared to what it used to be. But overall, I would say it’s a good service. They just need to improve it, go back to better performance, the way they used to be.

I filed a claim because there were gray water lines, and American Home Shield said they do not cover gray water lines. There’s no fine print saying they wouldn’t cover this. They said it’s in the contract, but I didn’t see exactly where it was.

I also don’t like that if you were to get a contractor out there, Home Shield doesn’t cover access to fix stuff, so that’s crappy. In my contract, it says they cover access, but it has to be approved by somebody, but they never approved it. I feel like they should cover access.

Their customer service has been all right. I have been with American Home Shield about a year and a half. I swapped over from a different company because I didn’t like the contractors the different company used.

My air conditioning system started leaking, so I had an inspector evaluate it. He discovered that the system had been installed incorrectly and that the drain pipe was not properly angled, which caused water to pool and leak into the ceiling. The damage cost $1,100 to repair. When Comfort Pros came out, they initially misdiagnosed the issue, but later came back to replace the main board and properly angle the drain. The system passed inspection afterward. The technicians were fine, but I am not happy that American Home Shield contracted with a company that did not properly install the air conditioning unit in the first place.

The contractor was unbelievable and very sharp. They come in, do their job and they’re personable people. I have been with American Home Shield for three years. American Home Shield’s app is very responsive and user-friendly. I haven't had any trouble navigating it. It normally takes 24 to 48 hours for someone to contact you, but it's not that big a deal.

Getting AHS is worth it, especially being a homeowner. Before I moved to Corpus Christi, I was either renting or living on base. So, I always had some sort of landlord or housing or facilities to lean on. And being a homeowner, using the American Home Shield definitely helped with things that I may not be able to fix.

I called them to increase the temperature of my water heater, and then As One Plumbing came out and did so. And then the cold water valve started leaking. I had to file another claim for them to fix the cold water valve. My water heater was still under warranty, so they ordered the part, put it in the valve, but it was still leaking. So, then they decided to replace the water heater. Since it was still under warranty, I had to take it to a local Home Depot to get it replaced. I was able to get a new one. They installed it and put it up to code, raising it 18 inches above the ground, which is what it was supposed to be. They did a great job.

I have been with American Home Shield for a good five years and depending on what's getting done, they’re good. You really just have to go through something to get something done. Patriot Plumbing came out supposedly to fix the shower. The guy came out and he said it was nothing he could do. He had to get another part. And then, my husband called back and they were saying they can't fix it. And if they do, they will charge us $200. We wound up paying someone else to get it done because I have to use that bathroom. I broke my ankle and I could fit my chair in the shower there.

Usually, when someone comes fix it, that's when AHS is supposed to take the money out of the account. They took the money but it's never been fixed. I called AHS and asked if they put the money back in my account. After three different people, they told me that they’re going to put the money back into my account. I'm not seeing it yet.

The contractor came out for a free AC tune-up that was offered through their app. The contractor added an ounce of stuff to the AC compressor. That was all.

One thing they can improve is their website. It was good for the most part, but I wish they had more areas to put information in, because it’s kind of broad and they compiled stuff into one another for issues, and it wasn’t really a good explanation of what all issues are in that area.

Like, plumbing-wise, my sink broke but it wasn’t covered under their policy because it came off the mount. I had them come out and paid the deductible, but they were not able to fix it. Otherwise, it’s easy to just go on the app if you have simpler issues and click it, and they have been pretty good with communication on things too.

I’m not happy with LA Appliance sent out by American Home Shield. They came out in January, and when the installer pulled out my refrigerator, he put a dent in the door. Three weeks later, supposedly they ordered a part, but the part didn’t work. My dad said that no one brought any parts in the house. Then the next guy came out four weeks later and didn’t have any parts, but said that it’s not fixable. Then another guy came out and he said he can fix it. He ordered more parts, but still ignored the dent. Sometimes they bring parts in, and sometimes they don’t, but the whole time they’re charging American Home Shield for the parts that I never even saw come in my house. It’s a repeat thing.

Now they want to basically just give me money for my door. The representative told me they would rather just offer me $150 when my door could cost $300 to replace when it was their error. She said it was a small dent, and I said it didn’t matter and that their people put it in my refrigerator. It’s ridiculous that it is taking over six months to fix my refrigerator. They want me now to be the judge of whether my freezer is cold enough. My ice cream is still soft, so to me, it’s not.

The expedite team from American Home Shield was calling me daily, but LA Appliance will leave my house and put in an order really quick before they put in any kind of notifications so then AHS can’t do anything because there’s an order in place. They just pretty much stopped calling me, and I’ve sent several emails with no replies. I have to go through customer service now and get someone who doesn’t know anything about it, and you have to start the story over again. That gets frustrating. Also, I’m not quite real happy because AHS up my monthly bill, and my refrigerator still isn’t fixed.

I’ve had American Home Shield for about a year and a half, but this is the first time I’ve actually used them, and it hasn’t gone very well. I’m so frustrated with them right now. I’d be iffy about using them again and would probably recommend other home warranty companies instead. There are cheaper options out there that aren't bad alternatives.

I’ve been having a couple of issues lately. For one, I called them to have someone look at my garage doors. Just Pro Garage Doors came out and fixed one garage, but my tenant called me and said they didn’t even look at the other side. When I called the company back to tell them they missed a side, they claimed I never mentioned it, even though I told both American Home Shield and Just Pro. I was a little annoyed they didn’t fix the whole situation, and they never came back out.

Then I had a snake issue where sewer water was coming up in my basement. The guy who came out said he couldn't go any further because he found roots, but I didn't see him pull any out. I went to Home Depot, got a snake, and did it myself. I didn't find any roots at all. All I had to do was push it out. Now, I’m having issues with AHS because they’re trying to pay me out for a water heater that went out for my tenants, and they’re saying that I was behind in payments.

But as far as customer service goes, they are on top of it. They're pretty patient and thorough when it comes to explaining what’s going on, or trying their best to understand what you’re saying as well.

Brett at Aeon has been fantastic to work with. The pool pump we had replaced just two and a half months ago went out again. We have no idea how or why, it just stopped working. He looked at it first to see if he could service the current one, but he ended up having to replace it again.

I’m a Realtor, so I work with American Home Shield for my clients as well. We’ve had it ourselves for seven years, and we’re fine with paying for it every year because of the appliances and the pool. It’s worth it to us. I know they don’t always have the best rates, and occasionally things happen, but it usually works out and we’ve always had good experiences.

I just canceled the contract with American Home Shield because I’m not happy with how things turned out. I paid a monthly fee, but it appears that when things were broken, they were not able to fix it without charging me thousands of dollars. They just claimed that there was nothing they were responsible for.

The technician did his review and said some things to American Home Shield, but whatever was documented just didn’t make sense to me. I wasn’t willing to pay $1,500 for something that they should have been responsible for repairing. It was not a favorable ending for me, and I’m just a dissatisfied person with the company. It’s best just to have the money to pay outright than to have a home warranty if they’re not going to do certain things for you like they claimed.

American Home Shield has good points and bad points. Some of the technicians that come to the house are just fine, and other ones are middle of the road. The outlets didn't work and the guy fixed it so that was good. When it comes to plumbing, they suck. I had a 9:00 to 12:00 window, and the knucklehead showed up at 10 o'clock at night. It took a month and 30 phone calls for them to fix the shower, and I was at my wit's end. They kept saying they ordered the part. I just paid for my own plumber to come because I refused to let him in my house again.

But it shouldn’t be a new issue because it only started leaking after they did the repair.

I've only had two claims. One was when my stove caught on fire on Christmas Eve, and it had to be replaced. The other was about two or three weeks ago when my air conditioning needed a part replaced.

I did the claim over the phone. She was very pleasant and got me an appointment right away.

The technician seemed to be knowledgeable. Within half an hour, he found out the part that needed to be ordered. He put the order in and said they needed to wait until American Home Shield approved it, which could be up to a week.

When my stove caught on fire, the appraiser came out to determine what was wrong and said it had to be replaced because he couldn't get the part, something to do with the motherboard. When he left, he said someone would come out within a couple of days to pick up the stove, but it's still sitting in my garage. I kept waiting and waiting, and I guess nobody's gonna come and pick it up. So I had to make arrangements to get rid of it.

Customer Service used to be better; you got these very nice people. I know that the Philippines is one of them. And they try their best to help. Once you get the contract, it feels like there's an extra layer. If you have a problem that goes outside the ordinary, you get the same kind of thing, and nothing gets done. I had an experience where there was a mix-up in sending the work order to General Electric for repair at that time. It was for my stove and the refrigerator at one of the different properties that I never called on. So, they didn't send the orders in separately. And so, they got a different response, or at least GE was saying, Oh, we just have the refrigerator. We didn't get the stove on it. And so then, after they realized that they were supposed to send it on two separate work orders, but for the same service fee, they tried to correct it. But it just got mixed up. I never got the callback they said I would, and it ended up being a mess.

I just had my refrigerator done, and the Haines guy has not responded. I had the refrigerator and the stove that GE was supposed to do. So, they ended up having to send a different contractor, and he was good. But the stove, when I called, was done on Wednesday or Thursday. And when I called on Saturday, they had not even received the technician's diagnosis. And his diagnosis for the stove was that it's gonna have to be replaced. It was an original appliance, although I hadn't used it much. Sometimes, the parts that you need to put on it are no longer manufactured. So, he knew what that was. So, he said, We're gonna have to replace the stove. He removed the ice that was melting in the refrigerator. It was a clogged condenser line. But the stove had to be replaced. And yet, American Home Shield has not even received the diagnosis from him to move forward with replacing the refrigerator. Now, it's going into the second week. The driving force behind American Home Shield is consumers who remain loyal to it.

There's been a lack of follow-through at times by these well-meaning folk who answer service requests. I've seen a deterioration from when I first started with American Home Shield to now.

I've also run into a couple of technicians who have been pretty bad. Now, when I call with a service request, I ask who they're assigning it to so I can look up the reviews. And it's not good when you see 1 star or 2 stars out of 5 stars.

They worry you to death if you miss a payment and bombard you, but when you call, they don't do that. It needs to be a beginning-to-end approach. In terms of us valuing you, it is that we stay with you that is longevity. The other one is that we pay on time, we do what we need to do, and we maintain the contracts. It's making sure that the thing that we're paying for is taken care of, and that the service department matches up with what you say you want to be to customers.

Thankfully, we haven't had to use them very much. I did use them for our AC a couple of times back around '90 or early 2000, and it was well worth it. Back then, it was about $35, and now it's around $135, but over the years, it's gone up, and that's normal because the economy goes up.

We still keep it because we just never know. The minute you let it go, something's going to go wrong with the refrigerator or the AC.

This was my first big issue with American Home Shield, and it was major for me because air is major. I live in southeast Texas, and it's very hot.
The technician came out and said nothing was wrong and that it was just hot. Well, my air was blowing nothing but heat. He changed out a capacitor. Nothing was wrong with the capacitor. It's smothering in Texas. I had already been like three days, and I couldn't go another day without air. So, we had to call a second person to come in because I just couldn't wait on warranty again to send me someone. We had just changed the thermostat to the Nest thermostat. We run off a heat pump, and it doesn't go with the Nest, and it wasn't programmed for that. The only issue was the thermostat. He told us that we had a bad installation.
When I spoke to someone, I felt like they just kind of brushed me off. That was my issue. I told them I run a business, so I understand, but you still need to listen to your customers. I had to pay them $100 and then turn around and pay someone else $300. I'm paying 30 bucks a month for their services, and it didn't feel fair.

At this point, I'm about ready to cancel just because of this issue. I don't think it's worth it. I would tell someone just to go ahead and pay out of pocket.

I put in a service request to inspect the AC system to make sure that everything was working properly. I received an email about $100 for getting the AC checked. I went through the process and paid for it off of my card. I was told I would hear from Meyers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery within 24 hours. But I did not hear anything after almost two weeks. They said they tried to call but they couldn’t reach me. My cell phone stays with me all the time but they literally did not even reach out and respond or say anything.

I called AHS and spoke with the rep about the issue. He changed the service company and gave me Fire & Ice. The young lady rep called me that afternoon and called me again the next morning to let me know what time to expect the tech. He showed up and went through the process quickly. He showed me everything he was doing and explained the process step by step. I was well informed on how the system was working and that everything on the system was up to date and good.

It was a pleasant experience dealing with Fire & Ice through American Home Shield. But they could improve on their list of companies because I would not ever want to work with Meyers.

I would recommend AHS to my friends. It’s reasonably priced for the monthly payment. The online tools are easy to use and I also like the email alerts on different things that are available at a discounted price. Within the coming year, I may wind up adding some new things to my coverage since we’ve just bought new appliances for the kitchen.

Since then, we’ve been getting different contractors but it has not been fixed. I call the contractor to tell them it’s still not working and AHS will contact them or another contractor. They come in, open it up, change the parts and then they go. They tell us to cool it off for 24 hours, and then 24 hours later, nothing happens. We get the same problem.

We’re getting to a point where we’re ready to get a new fridge. We’ve had four different contractors come and this has been going on for almost three months. I stopped counting. It’s ridiculous and I’m extremely dissatisfied.

I’m upset about my AC claim. The tech that came out said it needed a total overhaul of two fans. Then to fill the Freon up, it was gonna be on my charge, not AHS, for $1,500 or $2,000. That’s ridiculous. I can have a whole unit put in for what this guy was charging on top of that.

AHS ended up sending me the $600 and I got the parts ordered. I’ve got a guy that’s gonna try to fix it. But I put that on hold because I thought I was gonna buy a new unit from the open door. That didn’t go through so that just saved me $7,000. So I’m back on track and I still don’t have an air conditioning.

When I first moved, I had the Home Shield and it was great. They repaired my AC then. It was a bad fan but it didn’t cost much and they paid for it. He really went through that for me and I liked that. But the last contractor was awful and he was all money-oriented. He was fixing something that either, if it was as bad as he says, should have been replaced, or it wasn’t as bad as it is.

I hope they will have more contractors so there would be more of a bidding on it. That’s a high-dollar type transfer for all of us and it wouldn’t take long to get an okay on the construction or the job. Also, the customer service has been a little difficult. It’s hard to find a straight number to the area out here and get it going. It’s groomed more to doing it online but I’m not an online person. Whenever I have issues, I like to call it in which is easy.

Other than that, my experience with AHS has been good and I’ve recommended them to my friends. I told them they need to get it if and when any of their appliances get to the age that they don’t have coverage on it.

Cascade Plumbing came out because of a leak that my mom is experiencing in their residence. A tech went and said that he would have to go through the drywall. I know there are some things that American Home Shield cover and some things that they don’t. We have Platinum protection but they basically rejected the entire claim and they didn’t cover anything. They also took the deductible. It was stupid.

We also had another issue with the plumbing at our house. There was a leak to a pipette outside. They also denied that saying that they couldn’t fix it because it was outside of the home. However, on their actual contract, it says anything attached to the home. It’s not like it was running on a pipe off the street. It was attached to the structure of the home.

Most things are getting denied for the last year and a half. It’s like you’re throwing money away. I have three homes that are covered and that runs into about $400 a month. Also, the techs are a hit-or-miss. Sometimes they’re professional, sometimes they’re not. I’m not super happy with AHS and I have been shopping around.

American Home Shield has been my backup. Being retired and an older woman, it has helped me maintain my home and keep it functioning properly. That's priceless for an older person.

I had a claim where the AC was making a ton of noise, and it wasn't cooling very well. He came out, replaced the capacitor on it, tightened it down and said it should be running better. It didn’t, so I called and had them come out again because American Home Shield said I needed to have them come back a second time. They came back out and said there's nothing more they could do with it and it needed to be replaced. So, I like that I don't have to come up with thousands of dollars if something breaks. I have the security of knowing that it's covered, and I’m not wasting my money spending my premium every single month because it’s being utilized the way I want it to be utilized.

As landlords, we got American Home Shield just so that we wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with what needs to be done on our rental property. Our tenant called to say that the AC wasn’t working. I sent a claim in to American Home Shield, and it was a bad experience for all of us because they didn’t fix the issue. There was even one time they came by but didn’t even get out of the truck and then later reported that the repair was completed. We ended up having to get someone else to do the repair. We’ve had four homes with them, and they’ve been taking care of our appliance issues, so we’ve had no complaints there. But we do have complaints about their vendors because they contract people with very low ratings, and it just gets exhausting.

It was horrible. It was the most terrible service I’ve ever gotten. The guy was disrespectful. He said he took out the garbage disposal and put in a new one, but he didn’t, and he didn’t wrap the electrical wire that goes to the dishwasher and conduit, so I’ve got a live electrical wire. I asked for another plumber, and he came and when I had asked him about the conduit and wrapping it, he turned on the garbage disposal and grabbed the electrical wire and said, "See, no shock." But if the dishwasher or the sink leaks and it gets on that wire, I can get electrified by the aluminum basin.

I had to go through 22 calls with American Home Shield and the plumbing company to get another plumber out here. I don’t know why American Home Shield is contracting with these guys. I don't even know if they are plumbers. I'm baffled. And I've been going back and forth with American Home Shield to find out if it's covered or not and they can't give me a straight answer. There's a language barrier there and I get it. But my policy says that all parts and components are included, so I would assume a conduit is a part of the garbage disposal fix when you replace it.

I was with AHS a while before, but this time I’ve only been with them for about four months. I filed the claim on May 19 and didn’t hear anything from the plumbing company. They had to send a couple of emails to get their attention. Now there’s another appointment scheduled for Wednesday to make the repair.

I'm totally not satisfied. WhenI first signed up, they told me my service fee was $85. Later, the lady disputed that and said the service fee is $100. But at this point, I don’t really have any other choice.

The contractor came out. He said he had to order parts. From what I understand, the parts have been delivered since the 25th but nobody contacted me to schedule the repair. I had to call American Home Shield a couple of times and they had to send an emergency email in order to get their attention. Now, they’ve finally set an appointment and make the repair.

Try to make sure they have a technician or company that’s more reliable than the one I got. I know it might be hard to find someone in my area, but at the very least, they should send someone who’s listed with the Better Business Bureau. The people I got weren’t even listed there.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield when there was water under our washing machine. I submitted the claim online and it was assigned to Sears.

The technician who came out was excellent. He gave us pointers. After he did his test, he explained that the washing machine drain line was inserted too far down into the plumbing, which was causing it to back up. He told us it was from gum and from the soap that we were using, since it’s a high-efficiency machine.

I had a plumber come out, and we got it unclogged and shortened the drain pipe that was going down. Since then, It’s been working fine.

I find you all very difficult to deal with. Nearly every time I’ve had a claim until this most recent one, we always have to argue back and forth. I sell your product as a Farmers Insurance agent, and your service is terrible.

Your customer service is horrible. You're one of the worst I've ever dealt with. Trying to get past the first person who answers the phone. Forget it. It feels like you shield everyone, like you don’t want customers speaking to anyone. What really ticks me off is being told that those people can't call back. If that's the kind of service you have, it explains a lot about your company. If those people I'm talking to can't even call me back, there's a real problem with that. Because in my agency, they’re able to call us and speak to someone.

That's the one I thought you were calling about. They're coming out tomorrow. Your companies are usually good about getting out here and taking care of us, which we appreciate.

AHS is not a cheap service. You’re paying around $1,600 and $125 per trip, but it’s still better than having to replace something major. We’ve always gotten along with your team and haven't had any big issues that I can recall, and that really matters to us when deciding who to work with.

However, I waited for over a week with water in my basement for a contractor to evaluate my claim before American Home Shield would approve anything and replace the pump. I had to take off work for three days to bail water out of my basement to prevent additional damage. I wish they’d streamline their process once the claim has been verified. The issue could have been taken cared of on the spot instead of having to wait for another visit.

Our weather here in Nebraska is up and down, so we’ve been running the heat. We had a hot spell where it was getting up into the 90s. We turned on the air conditioning and nothing happened. But two weeks before that, it had worked just fine. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a guy. But it took them nine days before they could get someone here because everybody else in Omaha was probably also having problems with the air conditioners. The guy was here for about three hours testing, checking yet he was unable to fix it. It could be some bad wiring between the thermostat and the furnace but the guy just didn’t know. He was a young tech and hadn’t had a lot of experience with this kind of stuff.

So we got ahold of Elite Heating and Air Conditioning who’s been here a few times before for a second opinion. It was again two weeks before they could get out here to look at it. Fortunately, the weather cooled off enough we weren’t dying in here. Their rep was here for about an hour and had it fixed. It turns out that the contacts on the box in the actual air conditioning unit outside had shattered. He had to replace that and in testing, he discovered that our smart home thermostat was shorted out. It was working for the heat, but it wouldn’t work for the AC. So we had to replace that as well. All in all, it took three weeks to get it fixed which is not typical. Because usually, they’re here within a day or two, and always been able to resolve the issue.

We’ve had American Home Shield close to 20 years now. We’ve had a number of things fixed and they’ve been very good. There were no issues nor surprises. They’ve always paid and covered a lot of stuff. We’ve told a couple of friends about them.

American Home Shield insurance is good. I recommended my sister-in-law and she’s in the system now. The problem is the technicians that they send at home, sometimes they don't know what to do. I don't know if they even have a license.

My AC had a problem, so I told AHS the pipe was leaking water. The first guy who showed up said he checked the system, and we need to put Freon because it was leaking. He said I have to pay out of the pocket. He confirmed that the pipe was fine. I paid $180 and they put two pounds of Freon. The next day, I turned the AC on, and it's still leaking. So, I called again. Another technician came and I explained that I still have the same issue. He checked the pipe and changed it. Now it’s fine.

Another request was for my bathroom. It was leaking water. I explained it to the guy who came out. He said it was fine but it was still leaking. I told him to change the water pump because it was leaking and he it’s fine but he’ll change it.

Last year they can’t find a technician to fix my bathroom so I had to pay one guy. He said if I give him $250 he can change the pump and I don’t have to pay the company. I asked why would I have to pay the company when I pay the insurance. Some of the plumbers were rude and asked why I kept calling. I told them that my bill is high because water is leaking. I called for another plumber. He came to my house for 80 bucks and he was able to fix my bathroom. I had to pay from my pocket.

I had them fix the stove like six months ago. They came to my house like five times to fix it. They ordered different parts. And they cost me a lot of time. I had to request time off from my job. I rather AHS send one good technician who knows what to do. They just send random people. They don't know what they are doing, kept ordering parts they don’t even need. The last person said it was just a simple issue. I don’t understand why they didn’t order that part in the beginning. It's really annoying.

The customer service, when they're answering here in the country, they're good. But when they answer from another country, I can't talk to them because they don't speak any English. I put in service requests last week and the rep did not put it in because she didn’t understand what I said. When I called AHS the next day, they said I don't have any service request from me.

It's really difficult when I'm trying to speak to someone whom I can't understand. I have to ask them multiple times to repeat, or I can tell that what they're saying is scripted. So the fact that I’m struggling to speak with someone when I want to make a claim is very discouraging. Other than that, the customer service is fine. In the past, when I filed a claim, we did whatever it took and in two minutes we'd be done.

I recently filed a claim for my air conditioner and the technician was great. But the fact that the technician shared with me that the part was over $1,000 and American Home Shield wasn't going to cover all of it is very disappointing. Years ago, that would not have been an issue. I would not have to be without a refrigerator for a month, or any of these things. The fee keeps going up but the service keeps going down.

I had a leak and I thought it was the pipes. American Home Shield assigned it to somebody. The people that they assigned told me about a couple of days later that they were too booked and they couldn't do it. It took American Home Shield a while to find somebody else. A tech from HD Drain Pros came out and he told me it was not the pipes. It was the roof.

I called American Home Shield and said it was the roof. They swapped the claim over to Elite Roofing. Their guy came out on Monday and he was nice. He said that the glue stuff around the seal was broken. He would have to put sealant on the little things that are on the roof. He was gonna send American Home Shield the stuff and what needed to be done. They had to wait for them to approve it. Some stuff took a long time with American Home Shield. I couldn't use my bathroom for about two weeks.

That aside, I have had a great experience so far with American Home Shield. I started with them in January. My first claim was the septic tank. The second one is with the roof. It’s cheaper for me to pay for the people to come out and pay a monthly fee than for me to pay for an entire service. With American Home Shield, you can save money when it's time to fix something. It’s not all good, but it's not all bad either.

Somebody is assigned the job and they come out and do it. One claim we had was for our disposal. It was jammed when the contractor came out. Their tech stuck a screwdriver in it and unjammed it.

I like having somebody come out to fix a problem. They know what they're doing. If something can't be fixed, I'll be reimbursed a little bit to put in a new appliance such as a dishwasher, washing machine, or refrigerator. My coverage with American Home Shield is awesome. I just referred my son to them with their promotion where it was 50% off to sign up. That would last for a year and then it would go back to the regular price. The only issue that I had with American Home Shield was that the contractors gave me a window of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that they would be here to repair our dryer. I called them at 4:00 p.m. to find out when they would be out, and they said that they were actually on the way and would be there within 20 minutes. But they never showed up. It got to be right around 5 p.m. I called their office again, to see what happened, and I got a voicemail that their office was now closed.

I called American Home Shield at 5:30 p.m. to tell them about what happened, and I was told that I can't cancel and seek another vendor until 24 hours are up because it was in the system for this company to come out and repair the dryer. I've never had that before. When I've had any issues with any vendor, they used to just give me a different vendor and run it through. But the rep said they can't do that, and they need to wait 24 hours before they can reschedule another vendor. I didn't have any choice but to wait. It got to be a little before 8 o'clock.

Then I got a call from the contractor telling me that they had a day where they were overbooked and couldn't get out of their window, but if I was still available, they would be out within half an hour to try to fix the dryer. I agreed, and they showed up and fixed the dryer. They were very courteous and did a really good job. So, I didn't have any issues. I called back American Home Shield and let them know that I don't need a follow-up or anything, that the dryer was repaired. It would've been nice to just get a brief phone call telling me that they're behind and they'll try to get out tonight.

I easily submitted a claim to American Home Shield through the mobile app. The plumber came, checked all three commodes, and said he fixed everything. But two of them started continuously leaking again. I reopened the ticket through the app. I got a call from that vendor and they're trying to reschedule. Until now, there is no new schedule. I feel that this plumber guy is not so supportive and friendly. If I tell something, he's not interested to listen as well. I'm not happy with him. On another request, the refrigerator technician was knowledgeable and excellent. I was happy with him.

Service-wise, American Home Shield has been very good, and the app itself has a lot of features. First, I did the video chat option. With their instructions, they tried to help us fix the issue. They were excellent. That is one advantage if I can fix it myself. If that is not possible with the video instructions, then they suggest opening a request. I have already referred two of my friends to American Home Shield. I told them that they provide good service.

I’ve been with AHS for a couple of years and I submitted a claim for my garage door opener, a minor issue where a screw driver for the garage door skipped out. That’s what he replaced, a couple of minor parts that probably cost around $7 max.

The guy who came was great and he did the job. The only problem I had was that it took about four or five days for them to complete the job. The delay was due to a small part, which in my opinion he should have had on hand. I’ve had the garage door worked on before and this is a minor part that usually isn’t a problem. That was inconvenient for several days because I didn't have a part.

He did a good job, and the service was good. He was knowledgeable about what he was doing. My only issue was the amount of time it took to complete the repair.

I submitted a plumbing claim online for one of my houses in Bedford, Texas. I’ve had several plumbing issues between two properties, including leaks at the hot water heater and under a bathroom sink.

When SWAT plumbing comes, they really do their best to work with you and the customer. It’s not easy trying to please both sides. I thought the plumber did fine, though I’m not sure there was much more he could do. In fact, one of the “leaks” wasn’t even a real leak. I had my house inspected, and all these inspectors kept saying “There’s a leak here, there’s a leak there.”

AHS has done something for me in the past, they replaced my entire refrigerator. Because of that, I continue to use them, even though everything else I’ve asked them to do feels like a fight to the finish. But yes, they helped me before.

My hot water heater was leaking all over my garage and just stopped working, so I called American Home Shield to have them assign someone to help. They actually assigned me to an electrical company by mistake first, but I called back and the representative said they're gonna assign me to somebody else.

Those people came out and did an assessment, and since the hot water heater was severely broken, they said I needed a new one. They called American Home Shield to tell them what was going on, and I called to find out how much I was gonna have to pay. I paid the fee and they replaced it. The contractors were very nice, and I don't have anything negative to say, except that they didn’t call ahead like I asked and showed up earlier than expected both times, so I had to rush home from work.

I’ve had American Home Shield for maybe seven years now. For me, it works out well because of the ease. I don’t have to search for anybody, and it creates a paper trail of when I have repair work done. They send out reliable, qualified professionals in a timely manner to get issues resolved.

I had a leak in my ceiling and the plumber had to fix it. But the plumber originally thought it was an air conditioning issue, so the warranty company called the air conditioning guys out. What happened was there was a pinhole in the tubing for the water, and it was shooting straight up to the roof ceiling from my ceiling. So when the plumber went up there, he didn't see that it was shooting up to the ceiling. He thought it was leaking from the ceiling and that it was the condensation line for the air conditioner. But it was never an air conditioning problem. The condensation line wasn't even close to where the leak was at. The air conditioning guy said, “Nope, it's a plumbing issue.” So I had to end up having the plumbers come back.

When I called the plumbers back, they said, “Well, we already closed our order, so we can't help you. You need to call back to the warranty company again, have a new order set up.” I called American Home Shield back again. The guy that I spoke to on the phone set up a new order but couldn't get anything through until somebody sent some report. Long story short, this was going on for three weeks.

But I've been with American Home Shield since 2016 and any time that I have contacted them and they have sent somebody out, they have worked with me and I appreciate that. When I spoke to the representative, it was good. They took all the information down and immediately got everything set up for me to have somebody come out the next day. It finally got fixed.

American Home Shield customer service is entirely foreign-based. Unfortunately, when I have entirely foreign-based customer service, the only thing that American Home Shield authorizes their customer service to do is follow a check sheet. There are protocols that those people are allowed to do and that's it. If the customer says, "I have a problem with X," this is the only available option to deal with that problem. And it is rarely the right one.

There is zero other available customer service avenue for those people. I get someone who is always very polite and calls me Mister Scott but never has the ability to handle my problem ever. In the past several years, the technicians have done well. But based on my most recent experience, it was very poor. I have had a series of repairs that took over two months and seven visits to my home to accomplish a simple task.

Caution Advised When Working with This Company. We’ve had multiple experiences with this company through our home warranty provider, American Home Shield (AHS), and feel compelled to share our concerns. First Visit – May 2024. A technician named Edith was dispatched to assess the A/C unit in our master bedroom. She diagnosed a coil leak. However, after requesting a second opinion through AHS, we were informed there was no leak. This discrepancy raised our initial concerns.

Second Visit – May to June 2025. Edith returned to inspect our upstairs unit and again reported a coil leak. This time, AHS declined to cover the full cost of the repair—not because of any confirmed requirement from our city, but because Service One claimed that permits and code upgrades were required. To verify this, we contacted the Town of Northlake’s Code Compliance Department and a compliance auditor. Both confirmed that no permit was required for the work as described. When we followed up with Service One, a representative named Bobbie initially said they always pull permits, and later claimed their “permit lady” had confirmed a permit was necessary.

We then learned that Service One misrepresented the scope of the repair to the city—telling them the entire A/C air handler was being replaced, which would require a permit. In reality, that was not the case. This misrepresentation caused AHS to deny full coverage based on incorrect information provided by Service One, not on actual city requirements.

As a result, Service One presented us with an extremely high out-of-pocket repair quote, pricing the job in a way that appeared to pressure us into opting for a full system replacement instead—since the cost difference was only a few thousand dollars. For context, we received a competing quote from an authorized Armstrong Air repair provider: $1,800 total, including refrigerant, for the exact same repair with no permit required. When we began asking questions and requesting clarification about the charges, Bobbie told us Service One no longer wanted to do the job and had already asked AHS to transfer the service ticket to another provider. Rather than explain or justify the cost, they simply walked away from the project.

Key Takeaways. Ask for clear, itemized quotes and don’t hesitate to question charges. Always verify local permit and code requirements independently. Get a second opinion—especially if you’re being pushed toward a costly system replacement. Be cautious of service providers who withdraw from jobs when questioned or who may use misleading claims to avoid warranty obligations.

While city requirements can vary, our experience shows that Service One’s misrepresentations directly led to loss of warranty coverage and an attempt to charge excessive out-of-pocket fees. Once we began to challenge the pricing, they simply backed out. We urge other homeowners to be proactive, informed, and cautious when dealing with warranty contractors like this one.

Horrible customer service, horrible company, and overall I suggest no one ever use AHS.

We have used AHS for over 10 years. Recently their claims to repair or replace have never been so false. We waited over one month to finally repair our refrigerator. The technician replaced every internal component from the compressor to the cooling coils and the entire process from ordering parts to multiple (5 appointments) took one month and after reviewing Sears invoices to AHS, cost over $1600. Each time we called the AHS rep said that Sears never said the appliance could not be repaired. This is a lie. Each time the tech said that they communicate the need for multiple parts and time for repair telling them that the appliance really needs replacing, AHS approves the parts order and another appointment to repair.

The dishwasher has been broken for over one month, again with EVERY component replaced and over 4 repair visits. The repairman told AHS that the dishwasher should be replaced, again AHS refused and approved one more part, the motor. They have completely rebuilt the dishwasher at a cost of over $1200 and it is still not repaired. So the time a customer is without an appliance due to multiple parts and multiple repair appointments is not considered for a reason to replace the appliance. I recommend just establishing a saving account for repairs. DO NOT consider AHS or any home warranty program

The Business Model of American Home Shield Feels Deceptive. American Home Shield charges customers a monthly fee along with an additional service fee whenever a repair is needed. Once a service request is submitted, they assign the job to the lowest-cost contractor—often one with poor reviews and minimal experience. That contractor contacts the customer, schedules an appointment, and then takes photos or videos of the issue to send to American Home Shield for evaluation. After reviewing the report, American Home Shield decides whether the repair will be covered. If approved, they notify the contractor of the portion they’ll pay for—leaving the customer responsible for any remaining balance, even though the contractor wasn't of their choosing and may lack adequate qualifications.

In my case, I had a leaking shower faucet that wouldn’t shut off and a bathroom faucet with stiff hot and cold water valves. The fix was simple: replace a cartridge in the shower and two in the sink. However, the contractor, Aladdin’s Plumbing, only took photos during the first visit and returned two days later just to capture a video—still with no parts ordered or repairs scheduled.

After four days of delays, American Home Shield denied the repair, claiming a failed cartridge wasn’t a result of "normal wear and tear"—which is both incorrect and absurd. Cartridges are clearly mechanical components that wear out over time. Their appeal process offers the option to request a second opinion from another contractor, but you must pay another $100 service fee. If the new technician gives a similar denial, you're left with no repair and wasted time. To make matters worse, the technician who visited my home had no plumbing knowledge. I had to guide him on how to access and remove the cartridge, just to identify the issue myself.

They wouldn't even tell me if the notes on my account show from what the previous agent notated. They had a vendor do the estimate, approved my order, ordered the part, and scheduled the work order for 6/4/25. They turned around on 6/3 and cancelled the appt and never notified me. I had to find out through the vendor Formula Air and when I called AHS I found out that they denied my claim because they stated this was a previous issue. This was not a previous issue. I had to email them proof showing that the tech that came to my home 7/5/24 installed a condenser fan and did a coil clean and tune up and did not install a compressor. I have been getting the run around, received terrible customer care, and I have a 6 month old baby in the house.

AHS still has not reached out to me to reschedule my appt nor have a supervisor return my call. The agents didn't even want to tell me the location of the office. This is the worst customer service experience and it makes the company look bad. Apparently AHS is known for bad customer service, being a scam, and not completing jobs. The service technician advised me that unit was not cooling properly due to a leak in the coil. On 5/20/25 at 9:45am I received a message from AHS stating to call them. I immediately called them and they said my claim was denied due to "pre-existing conditions." I asked what deemed it pre-existing since the issue started shortly before I put in the request. I was told that the pro wrote it in the report.

That didn't seem right because of the detailed conversation I had with the tech regarding the diagnosis so I called TCA HVAC. They said that they DID NOT write/report that it was a pre-existing condition. I have requested the document from AHS several times and was told they would send it and have not received it yet. They did request that I send in a document showing my routine maintenance/inspection report which I provided. Now that TCA has stated they did not report it as pre-existing and I have provided documents proving it was in working condition AHS is giving me the run around. They have even authorized 2 second opinions without my knowledge or consent.

Second opinions cost $125 and are usually requested when you are disputing the diagnosis. I am however not disputing the diagnosis but disputing the false claims that it was "pre-existing". I think AHS are a bunch of crooks. Home Shield actually came with the house when we bought it two years ago, and I thought I’d canceled it until I looked at my paperwork and realized I still had them. I’ve filed a few claims now, but I’ve gotten nothing from them. Every time I use them, it costs $125 just for them to say it’s not their problem.

My stove started acting up, so I thought I'd use them. They sent out a service guy who couldn't speak English at all. He didn't even know the stove's amps and had to call Home Shield. They couldn't understand him either, so he just labeled it an electrical problem. Home Shield confirmed I didn't need an additional $125 payment, but when the electrician finally came out a week and a half later, he said it was a combination of the breaker and a loose outlet tripping it. He told me Home Shield wouldn’t cover the issue, so I had to pay $425 for the electrician to replace the breaker and the outlet myself. I’ve had no problems since.

We also used them for the dryer, which was so old my clothes were actually catching fire. The technician just said there was nothing more he could do, so I ended up replacing the washer and dryer myself. Then there was the pool heater. The technician said it needed a flow switch, but they told me it wasn't covered. I lost that money, though AHS said they credited it back to my account. They eventually did come out and replace the flow switch, but the pool heater is still bad. I haven’t replaced it because it costs $7,000. The supervisor says it’s covered, but the pool technician says it’s not. I don’t want to pay another $125 just to be told again that it’s not covered.

The problem is the people working there don’t seem to know the contract, and they find a way out every single time. I'm done dealing with AHS.

Good day Steven. Thanks for leaving us your feedback. I'm sorry to see that you did not feel that the warranty provided value to you.

I have had the opportunity to review the past service requests that you mentioned. The electrical outlet problem was diagnosed as being the result of a power surge. Electrical surges are not covered under AHS service contracts. We do include that information in the exclusions section of all of our contracts. I do see that after you objected to the denial of coverage, our customer service agent made you aware of the option to receive a second opinion diagnosis from a new vendor. You refused this offer, which is of course your right. The pool heater service request was also diagnosed as being a failure of a non-covered part listed in the exclusions section of the contract.

In reviewing the service request for the dryer, I saw that the vendor came out to the home and completed a repair. However, I did not see any subsequent communications from you to our team after their last visit. If another problem occurs with any repair within a thirty day period and we are made aware, AHS will always issue a recall, which sends the vendor back to the home to repair problem at no additional charge to you. If, however, we aren't made aware of problems after a repair attempt, we can't address these issues.

Thank you for the kind words regarding the courtesy you were shown during the tech's service visits. I'm sorry to see that you are no longer a customer with AHS. If you ever decided that you might wish to try the warranty again, please feel free to check out our contracts first via https://www.ahs.com/contracts/. We detail what is covered and excluded in all of our plans here.

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with Liberty Home Guard. From the start, the claims process has been slow and confusing. I paid the up-front service fees as required, but appointments with technicians were often delayed or cancelled, dragging the whole process out for weeks. Communication has also been a major issue. It’s been difficult to get clear answers about when my claims would be reviewed or approved. Even worse, some appliances I was told would be covered when I signed up were later denied — which directly contradicted what I was promised by their sales reps.

I’ve also found the advertised scope of coverage and payout amounts to be misleading. When I requested written explanations for denied claims, I never received a clear response. There are also a lot of exclusions and fine print that were not made obvious up front — things like age restrictions or brand/model limitations that weren’t disclosed during the sales process. Overall, I feel like the service hasn’t matched what was advertised or promised, and I wouldn’t recommend Liberty Home Guard based on my experience.

Horrible Customer Service and Communication Experience. I knew my garage door or motor needed to be replaced and the customer service representative had me schedule a technician to go out and I had to pay American Home Shield $100 for this person to come out to tell me that the door or motor needed to be replace and that American Home Shield does not cover replacement, only repairing. What do I have a warranty for again? Makes no sense that their team is not in the business of discussing your coverage, they just want to schedule a tech on your dime, have you pay for an assessment, and then they don't cover anything. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Not sure a home warranty is worth it. You may as well just get separate warranties for the different appliances. Going to be canceling this one. It's just not worth it, especially with this company!!!!

Do not get American Home Shield. We paid $80/month for four years. Our water heater went out. I called 8 times, I waited a week, we had no heat or hot water, and the water heater kept flooding our basement. They sent out a technician. The technician complained after two days that American Home Shield had not approved his quote. I called. The technician was frustrated. Finally, I paid $4400 out of pocket to have it fixed. That was over a week ago. American Home Shield is still working through authorization. I called and canceled my policy. Their answer system is extremely frustrating. They have trained people (who sound like they are from another country) to follow a script that gets you nowhere. American Home Shield is my worst decision to protect my home.

The first time SJDI Electrical Services came out, they made a determination, and the electricity worked for about 8 hours. I called them back, and they gave me an appointment. It was 90-something degrees down here in Texas and we didn’t have any air conditioning. We had three AC units, and none of them were working. My husband and I are both sick, and I was under the doctor’s care. I told them that but they said we had to wait almost a week for them to come again. About a week later, we had an appointment from 1:00 to 4:00 and we sat here and waited. At 4:00, I called the company and asked when the tech was coming. They said he was out here at 1:30. I said he didn’t ring the doorbell and didn’t knock on the door. One of our panels is in the garage, and one is outside on the wall and he didn’t even have the decency to let us know he was here.

When I called American Home Shield, they said the tech notified them. I did not like how that went down and after that incident, I did not trust AHS. I called, and it took three days for the rep to assign me. I asked if they would give me another company and the rep said it was not a recall. So I told them to have the company come again. But that is still open. So, I paid for another company to come out here to verify what the problem was and it was my generator.

I called the generator people and they came out and saw that the transfer switch was taking the power out of the house. So they did something to allow us to have air conditioning until they ordered the parts to come back and make a permanent fix. SJDI Electrical has not called or scheduled. I have been intending on calling them just to cancel it, but I'm going to wait and see how long it's going to take to reschedule somebody to come out here. I've had American Home Shield since 1973, and the only reason I'm with them is I live out in a rural area, and I have a well, and they cover my well. Other than that, I'd have been gone a long time ago. I also had a rental property until I sold it last year, which American Home Shield also covered.

American Home Shield is a good service. It covers a lot of things that are needed and they’re doing a little better about answering now. I used to stay on the line for at least an hour sometimes, just waiting and listening to that crazy music. But they still need to improve on how they handle customer disagreements. I had a problem with a refrigerator and the repair company came out here six times and still didn’t fix it. And AHS wouldn’t let someone else take a look. I said I would get a second opinion and they said I couldn’t have one. I asked again for a second opinion, and they still said I couldn’t have one. They need to change that rule because if a customer has a legitimate disagreement with the company, then AHS should be supportive of the client. In the end, I had to get a new refrigerator.

I have a built-in refrigerator and it cost $5,000 to replace and AHS only paid 4,000. The men delivered it but they wouldn't put it in the kitchen. They put it in my family room and me and my husband had to unhook the old refrigerator and roll it out to the garage and get a salvage company to come and get it. My husband hooked up the new refrigerator and slid it back in. I called AHS but nothing happened. The customer service reps are programmed. They're like robots and they follow a script. And you ask to speak to a supervisor but there is none available.

My experience with American Home Shield has been terrible. They sent Appliance and Motion out to repair my washing machine, and they’ve been here three times. They left twice with my washing machine running and water all over the floor. For the third visit, they filed a report to American Home Shield saying there was nothing mechanically wrong with my washing machine, even though there was water running all over the floor. I still can’t use it because they said they can’t fix it. I don’t expect good service from American Home Shield after they sent out a company that was not very good.

No one has offered a replacement for the washing machine. I’m still waiting for them to give me a $100 credit because they sent the company out here three times after I asked them not to. Then they scheduled the second opinion, so I have to wait another seven days. This has been going on for almost a month. I call every single day and get a different person. But all they want to know is if I can do a survey. The first couple of times, I gave a good review after the phone call because they sounded like they knew what they were doing, until I learned that nobody was doing anything.

The people they send to your home are also one star rating and have poor attitude and attention. We kept having a leak in our shower and it took over a month and three different plumbers to fix it. When they were done and the ceiling needed to be fix, they refused to replace/repair it all. Even tho. It's in the plan. You can't get anyone who speaks clear on the phone and they hang up on you the moment you ask 2x for them to be clear or repeat. I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with American Home Shield. I called to cancel my service back in January and was convinced to pay for one more month in February with the promise of receiving March and April for free. I specifically asked if I needed to call again to cancel and was told no—it would cancel automatically.

Despite that, I was charged again on May 26 without my consent. When I called to request a refund, I was met with resistance and pressure to keep the service in exchange for one free month. I spent 45 minutes on the phone going back and forth with customer service, who refused to cancel or issue a refund. I even recorded the call.

What’s worse is that the company’s website says you can cancel at any time and receive a prorated refund—clearly not true in my case. As someone who was recently laid off, this unauthorized charge has added unnecessary stress and financial burden. I cannot recommend American Home Shield based on this experience. The lack of transparency, accountability, and basic customer care has been incredibly frustrating.

The recent claim that we had was because we were having trouble with our AC. It was not coming on when we turned it on. And so, AHS sent Temperatures Unlimited out. It ended up being something really simple. It was the breaker. And they were able to take care of it promptly.

I was very dissatisfied with that whole operation of American Home Shield. They didn't fix the toilet. I'm considering canceling the whole contract.

They sent two people out, one of them came and he said he just needed to tighten the bolt a little bit. I told him that any plumber of any worth would say that once a wax ring is compromised, a bolt gets loose, and the toilet pressure is not on it. It doesn't pop back up again. It's already bent down and it's going to leak a little bit. The first one did nothing. No one bothered to take the toilet off and look at it.

The next one came in and said the warm water caused the ring to be compromised. And they won’t fix it because it was not normal wear and tear. The toilet has a bidet on it, and there is some lukewarm water. They're telling me the water is so hot that it melts the wax ring. There's something wrong with the toilet. It has a sour smell to it. I am so dissatisfied.

I will call back and consider closing it and get rid of this contract. It was the worst experience. My toilet still leaks and it still stinks. I have a regular plumber who will come, who can fix things, on Friday. He's charging me $80 to come, while AHS is charging me $125.

I didn’t really have an issue with American Home Shield. I can’t really say that, because it took three months to get my dishwasher fixed due to their contractors being unreliable.

The last contractor they sent for my dishwasher was fantastic. He figured out the problem, knew exactly what it was, and fixed it. The first contractor who didn't show up was Sears. The second one was Batten’s, they came out, said it needed a new motherboard, but didn’t even check the error code and they replaced the motherboard.

Then it still wouldn’t work. They said the motherboard fried, but it kept showing the same code. It turned out to be some kind of drain issue, Batten’s never even checked.

When I called Batten’s back and I said it is still not working and asked if I need a new one. It still took a month for them to get back to American Home Shield to request another vendor. Altogether, it took three months to find someone who could actually fix it.

They figured out the problem in about 15 minutes and ordered the part, which took a week to arrive. As soon as it came in, they made an appointment, showed up on time, and installed it. They were fantastic.

I manage almost 200 properties, and American Home Shield is really about doing the least amount of work to solve a problem, just putting a Band-Aid on it and making it work as long as possible.

When it came to fixing air conditioners, they would only replace half the unit and make it run on two different types of refrigerant. If you have an old AC that uses R-22, they’d give you a new unit with the updated refrigerant and make you keep the old, working unit, figuring out how to make them work together.

Came back to Texas, got the Platinum Package because we wanted to make sure everything that could be covered is covered.

I had air conditioner issue the first year we were here, Air Tech didn't call, didn't show up. Joe Cool ended up coming out fixed it. Year two, had the same problem, Joe Cool came out and fixed it. This year, the AC started shutting itself off, wouldn't run, was ticking and clicking. We put the service order in, they assigned Air Technical, didn't contact us and showed up four days later. They came out and they couldn't get the issue to repeat, so they closed the ticket out. We called and reopened the ticket because it started repeating, and we videotaped it. They reassigned Air Tech again, even though we requested not to reassign them.

The second time Air Technical came out again, saw the video hemmed and hawed, doing troubleshoots that didn’t work. I ended up having to pay $900 out of my pocket for them to do the coils because they said it was gonna fix the problem, and it didn’t. The third time, he supposedly fixed it, it worked for an hour and started ticking again, blowing hot, so I shut it off. The fourth time, he completely disconnects the sensor from the unit, bumped a drainpipe in the process, and before we knew it, it was leaking water like crazy. We have water damage that's on the sheetrock, the carpet. The box that the air conditioning and heating unit sits on top of is wet, so we've got structural integrity issues going on there.

We called American Home Shield, and we couldn't get anybody who spoke English clearly enough to where we could understand what was being said and the background noise was. We asked to speak to either a supervisor, and we got the runaround, until I was able to get through to somebody in their escalation department, explained to him what was happening, that it was unacceptable, and they needed to do something about it.

The fifth time Air Technical came out, he asked for $471 for putting back the safety switch that they took out. We said no, and he didn’t argue with us. The service tech, very nice guy, no issues with him, but Air Technical is a terrible company. I’ve requested again not to send us that company because for 27 days, in Texas, in 90+ degrees with 80% humidity, triple digits, we went without that air conditioner unit being properly fixed and running.

American Home Shield is a great product to have in case of circumstances. Recently, I had an AC issue and contacted them online. The next day, the company called me. The tech came out and fixed some leaking on it. I also wasn't getting enough air on my upstairs level, and he said there wasn't much he could do with that because of the ducts in the house. Overall, that experience was well because he did fix one of the issues.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for years, and it’s a recommended service. It’s definitely helpful, and I would say that it’s needed. The price has gone up a little bit, but it’s still manageable.

When I had an issue with my system, I reached out to them online. They had to troubleshoot it and ended up replacing the board because it wasn’t reading properly. The guy did a good job explaining what was going on. He was excellent and offered good customer service. I have no complaints, and there have been no more problems since.

However, the navigation can be cleaned up a little bit. Every time I go there, it takes me a little minute to locate how to start the service. It's not that intuitive.

American Home Shield’s site is fairly easy to maneuver. You go in, you request a service, you schedule it. Boom, it's done. It was fast. With Climate Kings on my AC, it went smoothly. They got in. They did what they needed to do. I have no complaint.

AHS offers a lot of different services but I would not be using those anymore. I was going to have some cameras removed, but it was a really bad experience and I wasn't happy with that at all. I had that service done right before the air-conditioning service.

It was horrible. I scheduled to have some cameras put up on a Saturday because we will be out the whole week. The first guy let me know that the kind I had are gonna take longer to put up, so he said to go on and cancel to reschedule, so I did.

The next tech who received the ticket told me he couldn’t make the appointment, and that I needed to cancel. When I did, I was charged $25. You assigned it to a tech who can't be here, and you couldn't reassign someone else, how is that my fault? I ended up paying for that.

AHS provides a great service, just be mindful of these other third-party companies outside. My checkout was totally different than when I'm scheduling with Home Shield, so I say be careful. I said I would reach out to Home Shield but I hadn’t. That's been a while since we've been swamped around here.

My sister and her son had very good experience with American Home Shield, so I thought I'd try it out. The Foxcroft HVAC Company came out and inspected our AC unit. It was part of the coverage. The technician was very good, polite, and knowledgeable. It’s been a good experience, except for the dishwasher. We had the guy come out to repair it twice. No sooner had his 60 days warranty run out, and it went out again. I just got a new dishwasher. I didn't wanna mess with it. It was seven years old anyway.

The online service app is user-friendly, simple and fast. The most recent visit I had was the yearly HVAC check-up. The guy checked my outside unit as well as the one in the attic, made sure the capacitors were up to the wattage and the lines weren’t clogged up. I thought the service was gonna include cleaning the outside unit, but that’s pretty much what he did. I did have two other work orders through American Home Shield, and I’ve been very pleased with them.

My guest shower knob had to be replaced. They left off that plate shield where that round piece is. The tech said it wasn’t broken and it was just cosmetic but it came off. Also, the thing on the sink where you push that plunger to let the water in and out was broken and the tech didn’t replace that. The tech said there was a clog in my kitchen drain so it’s still stinking. It’s still leaking at the bottom of the base. I’ve done everything that they told me to do, which is very annoying.

It seems like AHS is just letting techs patch stuff up and nothing is ever replaced. They don’t really do what they say on their commercials. I’ve been with AHS for eight years and I’ve only had a thing on my air condition unit replaced. When I had my hot water heater go out, I had to pay 500 and some odd dollars for that. I’m shopping around ‘cause I’m not completely satisfied with them.

They fixed the bathroom. They thought that was a leak in the bathroom. I guess it was a leak, but they checked the meter, and it was still running. It was still spinning. But I had to pay, so American Home Shield didn't take care of anything of that. It was $520 something. Since we were seniors, they gave us a discount, and I paid $474. They didn't send F6 back. They sent another company out. So SWAT came out, and I asked, “Why didn't they send the same people out? Because the guy they were familiar with the leak.” And then I had to pay another $100. I have a deal where you can go inside my house and go under, but they were saying that where the leak was, it was better for them to dig and go down inside the house or something, so they had to do that. Then they came out again to go under there to do the leak.

When the other company came out, I had to pay $1,300 for them to dig under the house to fix the plumbing. We've been with American Home Shield for years. I had to pay out, and they really didn't pay anything. I don't know what they were talking about, but I just went to cancel because I didn't have that kind of money to be paying Home Shield, and I've been paying them for years. Then I had to come out of my pocket with that much money. I'm no longer with them. It's been about a month. I could not understand them, and it was just the language barrier. Then they kept giving me from one person to another. I think they switched me over to about three or four different people, and it was just frustrating. I'm 79, and my husband is 85, and it was just hectic for us. I was just very dissatisfied, and I would not recommend them to anybody else.

Hello Carol. Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. I apologize that you found these recent service requests to be frustrating.

I've had the opportunity to review the recent calls in our notes. I see that the additional costs that you paid were due to expenses that are not covered in the contract. For example, while AHS covers a number of repairs and costs for the plumbing in homes, the contract does not cover the need to access leaks that are below the foundation of the home. Unfortunately, this was the situation with your leak. Also, there were modification costs for the replacement of a pipe. Modifications are not covered under any contract. AHS did pay for the labor of the technician and the cost of the materials in the pipe itself.

I will be reaching out to you directly via email within 24 hours to discuss this work order further.

I made a claim with the American Home Shield on the 14th. They’ve come out every week until this past Thursday, and each time they would come out, they would find an issue that needed to be fixed. To begin with, it was the leaking and would not progress through the cycles without me having to help it. They came out the first time, inspected it, and ordered some parts. They came out the following week and did the same thing, but I still had the same issues. They came out a third time and did some work on the progression through the cycles, and it seemed to have leveled out, and they replaced the tub itself because there was a crack in it. This past Thursday, they came out, checked it, they were gonna remove the motor and replace the bearings, but they were not able to do that, and that's where it's been since Thursday. Up till that time, I was able to use the washing machine on the lowest setting, and it wouldn't leak. But if it went to the medium cycle or high cycle, it would leak all over the inside of the laundry room.

The technician that came out was a very nice young man, knew what he was doing and was very good at it. It's just going through that long process to figure out what was actually wrong, and finally, at the end, there was nothing else that could be done. I received an email last night saying a determination was being looked at.

I put in a claim for my furnace in March because it wasn't working. American Home Shield sent out Comfort Pro. Comfort Pro came out and said it was my blower. They ordered the part for the fan. I was without heat for a week. Another guy brought the part, put it in, and did whatever he had to do. I still had no heat. He said, "Oh, no. It fried your memory board." They ordered a new memory board. Two guys came back and they said, "Oh, no. I'm sorry. We wired it wrong." They wired it the right way, supposedly, and I had heat.

By the end of April, it got really hot. I went to turn on my air and I had no air. I called American Home Shield again, thinking it was my air. Liberty Plumbing came out and their guy said, "There's nothing wrong with your air conditioning. Your thing is wired wrong here." When he wired it back the right way, I had no heat. He said I needed a memory board.

This was back on May 7th. I've been fighting with American Home Shield. I want all my service call money back. I've been waiting since May 7th for Liberty Plumbing to get a part. A couple of weeks now, I wanted to turn on my heat, but I can't turn on my heat because they left it for the air conditioning.

When I call American Home Shield, I go to the Philippines, Africa, and the Caribbean. I can't get anybody in the United States. I’ve had it and I'm ready to call Channel 7. I called Liberty Plumbing the other day to see where my part is. They were really good in the beginning, but I haven't gotten a call back.

American Home Shield charged me in March $100 for the service call. When all this started, they credited me back the $100 for March as a courtesy. They charged me $100 for an air conditioning service, which I can't make anybody understand. I wouldn't have had a call for my air conditioning if the problem had been fixed right in March. They charged me another $100 so Liberty Plumbing could come and fix the furnace. That's $200 plus $85 a month I pay.

American Shield needs to do something. To have the air conditioning unit wired wrong could cause a fire in my house. I would like for someone to get back in touch with me to help me with this problem. This is the first time I'm really having to use American Home Shield. I wouldn’t recommend them.
