I went online, filled out the claim, and paid my $100 deductible to American Home Shield. Within a couple of hours, I was contacted by Millennial HVAC. We shared messages on what the issue was and they scheduled someone out. I knew it was either the condenser motor or the capacitor that was the problem. I assumed it was the latter which was something I've repaired in the past. Since it was so cold, I didn't want to mess with it so I went through AHS. The tech came out and fixed the issue. He changed the capacitor and the unit has been working fine since. I was satisfied with the service.

Six months ago, my brother-in-law's water heater went out and he had to pay $2,000 for the repair. I told him about American Home Shield and he went in immediately and signed up. Although it didn't help him with the heater repair, he said he could see the value in it. For $50 a month one repair throughout the year is gonna pay for the monthly cost of the warranty. This definitely has value.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a leaking dishwasher. I got a call from a repair company. I felt it was going to be too long of a time before they came and checked it out. So, I called AHS right back and told them I needed somebody sooner. They got me somebody to come out about half the time of what the original one was. The person who came was great. She was not only on time, but she kept me informed. When she had openings, she let me know in advance that there was an opening. She did an excellent job. They had to order a part. As soon as the part came in, she got ahold of me right away and repaired the part and I had a dishwasher for New Year's Eve. I would recommend American Home Shield to use that contractor more than not because she is very good at what she does.

Scheduling with American Home Shield was really quick. The tech came and he fixed the problem really quickly. He wore a mask and his personality was very nice. He didn't leave a mess. But, I asked for service for air ducts and the furnace and he didn't do the furnace. Between the last things I did with my home warranty, I've been pleased that the contractors did what they needed to do, explained what the problem was and how they fixed it.

The website is terrible. I go to renew my payments online and I can't make a full-time payment for one year. They wanted to do it in increments monthly. There should be a choice on payment – not just method, but payment amount. It would also be very nice, when somebody has stayed with them for eight years and has multiple policies, to give us a discount for paying in full every year. Recently, a man came for our dishwasher, diagnosed it and had to go order the part. It's still ongoing, even though it says completed. It needs a new electronic board, which they hopefully have ordered. They're going to call me and have it come in.

I feel good about AHS. I'm happy with it. I like the timeliness of the service call. When I call in to request service, I usually get feedback within 24 to 48 hours. I also like the professionalism of the workers that come to do the repairs. My ice maker broke down recently and the repairman came and ordered a new part. The part took about a week to come in and I scheduled another appointment for them to come and replace it. That went well.

My hot water heater in the home wasn't working well. I wasn't getting hot water in my bathroom right away. It was taking eight minutes to even heat up and it was making a loud knocking noise due to corrosion inside of it. It's over 10 years old but because it was still functioning, there was nothing that could be done. On my second claim with American Home Shield, I had to call again and pay the other $75 to deploy the contractor to come out because my washing machine broke. So, they came out, ordered a part, came back, installed it and thought they fixed the problem. The washing machine is old. The new part gave a sort of a reinvigoration of the auger part of the washing machine, it ended up burning up the motor. So currently, the washing machine has a burnt-out motor, which Apex is ordering now. They have to come back out for the fourth time to reinstall a new motor on an old washing machine.

AHS has been great minus them not being able to fix the water heater. The description is that it's not physically not working or something's leaking, then we can't just replace it. I understand that. They've been nothing but responsive and kind in getting Apex Plumbing out here four times and not repeatedly charging me for it. Apex has also been great about making repairs. So, I'm not complaining about anything. I'm just grateful to have AHS. They’re extremely responsive. They dispatch somebody, and you get a text and an email communication. They follow up. So, it's been good overall, I would recommend it.

Recently, when the guy from Fleshers came out, my husband said that he was really nice and very quick with the repair work.

Filing the claim for the plugged up drain was very difficult. I was put on hold a lot. But the service was very good. Plumbers Inc. was very prompt. They weren't going to be able to come out for two days. My son who handled the call said that was unacceptable because it's a health issue with the plugged up sink so they were out the very next day. It was handled very well. Some of these things take a lot of time but this was very good. The gentleman that came wore his mask and was very polite. He did a good job.

I've been trying to call American Home Shield for the payment for the policy. I chose to have it taken out monthly and I noticed that in December, it came due and the policy was renewed in November. It was taken out December and in January, the price had gone up. I wasn't notified and this was taken directly from my checking account. I needed to have a review on why this happened. Also, the payment has gone up from $39.91 a month to $45.99. That's $6.08 a month raise which comes out to $72.96 extra a year.

The outlet in our refrigerator burned out, so it looked like it was about to catch fire. My husband was with the technician when he came out. The technician said everything was fine. But he couldn't give my husband much information about how it may have started. He said that it may have been caused by a loose or outlet. But he replaced the outlet and we have no issues since then.

American Home Shield can improve on the response time and communication. This also applies on the vendors or the services that they use. Overall, I like the fact of having the coverage and what they offer. SWhen I signed up, the representative did try to go into detail as much as possible and answer my questions to the best of his ability as far as what the warranty offers. Then when he wasn't quite clear or he couldn't really expand on something, he referred me to the contract. That has been the same for every representative that we've encountered at AHS.

But Sirius Plumbing, the second one, was great. They were very professional and quick. I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years. We have them out for plumbing regularly.

I signed up for the electronics warranty. Just recently, we switched. And I was told from the AHS people that everything would be covered for the electronics. But when I went to make a claim on my TV, because the front cracked, I was told that it wasn't covered. So, there was some dishonesty in how they sold their extended warranty for the electronics in the house. I had to cancel that part of my contract because they didn't do what they said they would do. But everything else is fine.

They also said the the overflow pan underneath it was cracked, so soapy water that has gotten down there went through the crack and came out on the floor. That's a problem because they don’t do that. They said the plumber takes care of that. I'd like to get this one issue resolved, but I haven't been able to get an answer from American Home Shield yet. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was a piece of cake. The techs who came were professional, timely, clean and did the repair as requested. They wore face masks, and social distancing wasn't an issue because I wasn't hanging around by them. When it was time to sign the tablet, we put it at the end of the counter, and the tech stepped back. So, he was doing precautions.

A compressor was replaced on the refrigerator. It needed to be ordered. They explained that there are only so many people available that specialized in that. We didn't push the issue because we have another refrigerator and a separate chest freezer, so we were covered. Otherwise, we would have pushed the issue because then, it was something like the air conditioner and refrigerator. They offered a timeframe, but I wasn't available when they said they had availability. So, it might've been a week and a half that the whole thing was completed.

I like being able to go online and initiate a process with American Home Shield 24 hours a day because I work odd hours. I appreciate that part but it's hard when you have multiple things going on. The process seems easy though we need to expand on some of the reasons why we may need help. That would be my only concern but I still love the process. I had a previous experience with The Prime Plumber back in May and I didn’t like them. I'm having some service done tomorrow and if the tech is able to fix what was wrong, I want to file a formal complaint against Prime Plumbing because he tried to get me to buy a new water heater. The only problem was my kitchen faucet dripping and he said it was because I needed a new water heater. It wasted my money.

In my most recent claim, I called because my oven was not working sometimes and the tech fixed what was wrong. It has been working consistently but I haven't used it in a couple of days and yesterday, when I walked in the house, I still smelled gas. I'm not understanding what's up with that and I don't know if I need to call American Home Shield again.

I had to wash everything. But he did a good job installing. Recently, the furnace was fried. A guy came out and gave an estimate but I don't know if I do wanna go with him. They have been out multiple times after the other parts arrived. But, I've been waiting on a part since December 18th and nobody can give me an answer except that it's in process at American Home Shield.

My claim with American Home Shield turned out to be a simple part replacement, and it went fine unlike the issue prior to this claim. The previous one, the contractor they selected was horrible. The customer service dealing with that contractor was horrible and getting an actual accredited company to come out and do it took about three weeks. But this time, with the heating, the company they had did very well. He came out the day after Christmas, and we didn’t even expect it. They called. We thought it was just gonna be a schedule, but he called to see if we were available. He could be on his way. So, communication was good. When he got here, he diagnosed the problem quickly. He had the part available and replaced it. He was done in under an hour.

On the previous claim, it would have been good if they could do a better job at believing me or whomever says that the contractor is not timely and not having to keep going back and forth with the contractor. Every time I would call in, they'd say, "Oh, we gotta talk to the contractor, get his side." Then they would say, "Well, he'll call you again on Friday." No call on Friday. I called back again, and that went on for about a week and a half. Eventually, I three-way called the contractor and American Home Shield and told the contractor that he is not allowed in my house and told American Home Shield that since he's not allowed in my house, I needed a new contractor.

That didn’t get the job done. I filed three complaints for different reps that would not be cooperative. One even told me that there was no supervisor. Every other interaction, besides the last one, has been good. Having American Home Shield is comforting. I've had some appliance issues, and they've come and fixed those. Other than the one instance, it's been timely. So, it's comforting to know I can call in. The likelihood of it getting done is good.

The other person is probably gonna tell AHS the same thing the first person said. I don't know why I had to have two different people. I still can't use my washing machine. So, I'm dissatisfied as far as that's concerned because I gotta wash clothes and I can't. AHS should just give me another washing machine and I’ll probably add money to it. That way, I’ll get what I want because they will not give me the same caliber washing machine that I got.

But this previous time for the central air conditioning, I wasn’t on the phone for long at all. When I spoke with the representative, told him what my issue was and he gave me great service. He told me what company was gonna come out and deal with the issue, which was Maxair. Maxair called me and let me know when they would be coming between a certain time. Then they came early. That was the best service had and I was proud all the way around.

I was having a problem with some of my electrical outlets. The only problem I have is going through that computerized voice thing trying to get to the representative. They keep asking these questions and I keep saying, "Member services, please." There were questions I wanted to ask and it wasn't just a straight appointment because I wasn't quite sure if I needed electric or I needed the washer people or what because it was all in the same area.

The tech was very nice. He looked at everything and the breaker was working again. He went out and he looked at everything and he said, "You have to get used to the little idiosyncrasies in your home because sometimes a circuit will get overloaded and it will trip the breaker. And that's doing what it's supposed to do. The thing is, if I can't put the breaker back, then we have a problem. Sometimes you have to wait like an hour or two for the system to reset itself before the breaker will go back." He walked around the house with me and looked at everything and everything was working fine by then. He gave me a lot of good information. This is my third home that I've had American Home Shield on and I've always been very pleased with them.

I did a claim to American Home Shield for a malfunctioning refrigerator. The process of getting a claim to the appropriate vendors has always been relatively quick. It has been like a day or two. We've had good fortune in the particular vendor that was assigned to our claim. The vendor has always been very transparent, open, and very confident. We've had a couple of different problems with this refrigerator. They've come out each time, solved each of the problems and I was very happy with the service that this vendor, Cooper Appliances, provided. We put a thermometer in both the freezer and the fridge, and it fell within the range that the technician said it should fall in. So, the problem was more than adequately resolved.

If we go the online route submitting claims to American Home Shield, that's easy enough. But, if we try to go over the phone or if it's any time after 5:00 on the weekend, it's impossible. So, it's upon the contractor to follow through anytime to do a good job. But generally, in the past year or two, I've had very, very bad experiences.

We've thought about going with another company because there's no way I can reach American Home Shield or a contractor in case of an emergency like when there's water leakage and it's causing damage. AHS assumes no responsibility. If it's extremely cold and my heating system broke down, there is no way that they will get back to me in time. If the contractor is not picking up the call, they will take their ideal time. A lot of times when I reach out to these contractors and beg them to come and they usually say that they don't get treated the best way possible so the claims that come through insurance companies are not their highest priority.

If I'm lucky, I get in touch with a contractor that is happy to do the job. If they're not, American Home Shield will not intervene to expedite the process in any way. Like with my dishwasher which has broken down six times, twice it has happened that the tech's car broke down or he had an emergency and nobody would act on it. There's no accountability. We have some rental properties too that we always need a backup person to go to if we need something done right away. AHS is not the best way to go. At times, we have paid privately and just gotten work done because we needed to get it done.

Then also, it wasn't keeping its temperature at the right control. When the tech left, he said that the icemaker would come back on. It would take some time for it to fill and for it to restart. That was when we had the second problem, because whatever he did, the icemaker never restarted. I contacted American Home Shield, and they sent the contractor back out. I call American Home Shield if I need anything. I love it. I had it for years, and I wouldn't do without it. If I have a problem and it's covered, they take care of it right away. We've had American Home Shield for less than a year this time. But I've used the home warranty for many years in the past. I moved away from that house and went without a service for a while. It's almost something you gotta have life insurance. When we did not have very much hot water, I called American Home Shield and the claim process went easy. The contractor, Shield Plumbing, called me and said they were going to do the service then scheduled a time. They send me a text when a guy was on the way. He did the work today. My wife said he was really quick and he took care of the problem.

The claim was smooth. But something came up, which wasn't American Home Shield's fault. When they replaced the hot water heater, it had to be brought up to code and that came out of my pocket. That was an additional 700 that wasn't covered by anybody. We bought the house three years ago. I talked to the Shield guy who did the work and was wondering why the inspector didn't tell me the hot water heater was not up to code. It turned out that so long as the water heater was working, it didn't have to be brought up to code. But the second it gets replaced, it had to be brought to code.

He was very friendly and respectful of social distancing and mask-wearing. It took him a couple of minutes to fix the problem which was just a wiring issue on the switch.

Having additional drop-down menus on AHS's website so I can narrow down my issue a little further might be helpful. Some of the individual buckets on the site are a bit broad. As far as service goes and getting someone out to my house in a timely manner especially given the holidays and the pandemic, this was a great experience with AHS.

When I bought the house 15 and half years ago, my brother gave me AHS' phone number. I called them the same day and I was insured the same day. There was no waiting period. Everything that I could be covered, I'm covered. The process is real easy and I like their service. When you call, you ain't talking to a real person but if you want to talk to a real person, you can. The automatic system is so good. When you call, somebody comes on it and they ask you what's wrong in your house. You tell them what's wrong and before you get off the phone, they collect the payment. Then they'll give you a confirmation number and email who's coming.

The guy from City Plumbing was good and very nice. He had his mask on and was very professional. I told him my garbage disposal got a hole in it because it was leaking under. He took his flashlight and confirmed there was a hole. He asked how long I've had it and I told him it'll be 16 years in July. He said he'd go ahead and get me a new one. He went out there and got a new one. In less than 20 minutes, he had put the garbage disposal on.

Right before Thanksgiving, the oven door broke off. I called AHS and they sent somebody out. A guy came out and said they were going to try to locate the part that was worn. A couple of weeks went by and the home warranty sent me an email. They were gonna replace my oven. I emailed them back then we talked. The rep said, “Every time I pull your contract up, it keeps saying that you requested your ice maker.” I told her to call the people they sent to my house and they'd tell her what kind of oven it was. She said, “Could you take pictures of the inside and measure for me because we’re gonna replace it.” That was almost two weeks ago. Sometimes, you have to wait a long time but that's the norm now.

Last time, the air conditioner was smoking so I called. It took them about a couple of weeks to get a new air conditioner. They sent someone out and I paid $480 for freon. It lasted me two weeks. I was livid so I called them back. They said they were going to send someone else. I told them to send that same guy back to my house. They got a habit of sending different people and I don't like that. They sent the same guy back and he let them know that the air compressor was gone on the unit. It was so many years old and they replaced it.

I didn't know that a friend who came to visit me walked to the basement. The heater light switched off and that caused the heater not to flow up in the house. Because my last experience with the contractor they sent was the worst I've ever seen since I started with them. There is no way in hell it's gonna take an hour for somebody to finish something because somebody is inefficient. Also, to try local contractors first. At least they are more accessible and easier to work with than somebody from coming from out of town. Lastly, you have to read the terms sometimes very well. Because I had to pay a whopping fee deductible last September when they fixed my AC. I did not expect to approve $8,000 for something I thought is supposed to be covered.

We have an external outdoor whirlpool that's not connected to the pool. We paid an extra fee to our home warranty to service that. And when I went to turn on the whirlpool, the gas heater that heats the water quickly would turn off immediately so there was no way to make the whirlpool hot because the gas turns on and stays on and it heats that water and it runs it through pipes. This is what was explained to me. And then that's what heats up the whirlpool. I tried to self-help it using YouTube to try to get the gas to work so that it would stay lit. And then that would heat the water. That did not work so then I turned it into our home warranty.

They assigned ABNation. He came out and assessed the problem that it could be the ignition thing that starts the gas and keeps it running until it can run on its own and had burned out. He called it in to American Home Shield to see if they would get approval. And then, he let me know that they approved it and it would be a week before the part came in. He called me the next week and said, “I'm in your area. The part came in. Can I come in and repair it at this point in time?” I said, “Sure.” He came in and repaired it. He accessed it himself, fixed it, and the next day, I checked to make sure the heater worked and it worked fine and that was the end of the issue.

I've had the home warranty ever since we've lived in this house, which has been six years. We've had ABNation come out for various things for the last two years. We love them because they're timely. They are supposed to call within 24 hours. They call right away. He's supposed to make an appointment. And they always keep their appointment to come when they are supposed to come or they come early. And a lot of the subcontractors get a call and, “Oh, it'll be tomorrow,” or, “I'm running about six hours late,” or, “I'm on my way” and then it turns out to be six hours later. ABNation is the first subcontractor we've had that we actually like. “What? He's on time?” It has been crazy. But we just assume that our warranty doesn't pay very well so they get beginners or drunks that can't maintain jobs. We have renewed our optimism about our home warranty just based on ABNation.

I’m still a bit down on American Home Shield because we had a central air go out. The contractor came out and they said that the unit had too much debris and all that stuff and that is what killed the unit. When I talked to HVAC people, they were like, “Yeah, this is an outdoor unit. Pine straw is not going to destroy it. There's other issues going on.” We don't disagree that the unit didn’t need to be replaced. We just thought that was shoddy to say that it was our fault for not clearing away pine straw to an outdoor unit. But I felt like the warranty companies, “Yeah, we don't want to get into that.” So, per unit, we get a maximum out of pocket of $1,000 or $2,0000, and our warranty graciously gave us $300 because of the pine straw. That was kind of chintzy. But they have to be ruthless in order to make money.

The tech that came out for our recent claim with AHS was very helpful. Our furnace went out Saturday evening and we didn't know what happened. It turns out we had the wrong furnace filter in there, so it was causing the air not to blow through and causing it to get really hot till the furnace shut down. Submitting the claim was fine. However, we called to find out what our coverage was in case the furnace needed to be replaced and the people we talked to were four different people and they wouldn't tell us. They kept saying they needed a diagnosis from the repair people. It also sounded like the people we were talking to read from scripted responses. If somebody is not certain on how to answer something, they should ask for help instead of just repeating the same response over and over.

The first time the guy came out, he spent all of his time trying to figure out how he didn't have to do anything rather than helping me. That ended badly. Then my nephew got involved and convinced AHS to send somebody else out again which would be no charge if the person found that they could fix it, and that was exactly what happened. The gentleman that came out was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, did the work without any problems and got me going. This is the first time I've had to call to use the service. I've got one or two things that I think I'm gonna have to call about but I'm sort of avoiding them at the moment because I don't want to end up like the first time I used AHS and it didn't work. But all in all, at this point, I'm very satisfied.

I'm paying $100 a year for copay whenever anybody comes for the services. It's a little bit on the higher side, but it's okay as long as the services were good. But the service varies differently depending upon the vendors whom I have called. Some of the vendors did their job pretty well. But I had a pretty tough experience with what happened with my AC. It was a small issue, but the first vendor initially diagnosed that there was some problem with the inside coil. But it was not the case, because when he worked on it, the same problem happened again after a few days. Then they came over and they recommended something very different outside of the purview of the contract. They were asking me for money separately to do that. So I called a second contractor and the tech looked at the problem which was on the outside coil. But all other services were pretty good. The plumbing services were good.

There is no way I can reach AHS customer services pretty easily. Every time I call, it never reaches that number or it's on hold or it's a big waiting time. I had a bad experience when I was trying to reach with someone in customer services, and I couldn't. That was a real frustration because I couldn't mention anything on the website. They should have given me a free form text kind of thing where I can write whatever I am actually finding it out. It's all close-ended, so I cannot write anything over there apart from whatever is available to me.

I don’t call American Home Shield quite often but when I do, it goes well. My recent claim went well. It was kind of hard to identify if it was, in fact, a plumbing issue or my washer. I noticed that when I was running my washer, it was making this weird noise. But it didn't appear to be the washer. For me, it was something within the pipe. When I hear or notice something is different, I immediately jump on it because I want to take care of it at that point. I don't want to let it go on and on, and then it's a bigger potential issue. There was nothing rectified, but the service went well.

With American Home Shield, I like the security in knowing that I do have that warranty if anything does happen. I like that comfort. There are other home warranty companies out there, but that's just something extra for me to have to do. I do feel like what I pay is kinda high. I have not been happy with the band-aid. It's always the band-aid. It's never really been a replacement, or if anything had to be replaced, I ended up having to come out-of-pocket. I paid the deductible, which is $100. Then my premium now is roughly about $56 a month. I've had American Home Shield since I've been in my home. I have been having issues in the past with the furnace, AC, and it's always that band-aid. For me, it is convenient. But I have had those conversations where, “Well, it is a warranty. Why can't you just fix it? Why is it still the band-aid, band-aid, band-aid?”

Both times the company denied the claim saying I overloaded the laundry. Both contractors confirmed that I did NOT do that. It is a blatant lie so they don't have to pay for a replacement. If I could give them zero stars I would.

I woke up Saturday morning and our heater wasn't working. My wife called American Home Shield and paid the $75. They went with a contractor that they used in the past year. We got a thing from American Home Shield that the contractor would be contacting us. I then got an email from the heating company saying that they would be in touch with us within the next business day. This was Saturday morning. That meant nobody was even going to try to get ahold of us until Monday. We weren't hearing anything back from the contractor as to when technicians were coming.

Since it was stated in the email that we could call the contractor, I tried calling. The voicemail said that unless it was an emergency and we were going through homeowners insurance, we needed to contact the home warranty company and have the claim upgraded. We called American Home Shield back and they expedited the request to an emergency. We still didn't hear back from the contracted company so American Home Shield got ahold of a different company. Their technician showed up. It turned out the problem was a flame sensor. The technician didn't have the part and couldn't get it until Monday. He was back first thing Monday morning and got the furnace fixed.

We went through a lot with this claim. My wife was on the phone for quite a long time with American Home Shield. One lady she talked to was on the phone trying to get a contractor here. When the technician called me and said he was 10 minutes away, I let the lady know that. She basically said we called the contractor and that American Home Shield was not going to pay it. We kept trying to tell the lady that we didn't call anybody but she wouldn't stop talking. When the technician got here 10 minutes later, I had asked who called him and he said it was the home insurance thing. It turned out that American Home Shield contacted the contractor and they had the work order from them.

The technician that came was excellent. He didn't have the part and the parts weren't available. He said they could try to call a store and have them open up to get the parts if they had them. But it was gonna cost us $150 out of pocket, which we were willing to pay. When I called the technician back, he said he had already called the stores to see if there are any parts available and there was going to be nothing available until Monday. This time around, our experience with American Home Shield was kind of shaky. But that aside, our heating unit has been so good so far. American Home Shield is a good company. Every time we used them, like with the furnace last year and with a dishwasher issue, everything was taken care of. It was an excellent experience.

It seems pretty hard to get qualified vendors from American Home Shield. Plumbing and heating and air are areas that have a few people that are with the home warranty company that are actually good. There is a lot of paperwork involved and American Home Shield doesn't have some contractors that are willing to do that or who are qualified. But Powell Electric is a contractor that has never been a problem and I really like their company. They are excellent and I’m so glad that they’re part of American Home Shield.

The last time I had heating and air problems, I had to get my own vendor. That was really hard because there was nobody that could do the job that I needed to fix my heating and air. American Home Shield then reimbursed the vendor. With the last one before they got somebody, that person came out three times and didn't do anything. He just sat downstairs and looked at the unit.

The week before Christmas, I had a plumbing issue. Technicians came out and they found another issue. I haven't heard from them since. It says on the dashboard that they're seeking authorization. That aside, reaching American Home Shield online has been really great. The last year that I needed them, they were great in attending to everything that I needed. Before that, it was really hard to get some sort of resolution when I had that issue with my heating and air.

My smoke detectors, hallway light, and several electrical outlets weren't working. Two techs from Electrical Service came out and fixed all of those. Then my microwave was tripping the breaker out in the box. They were great. They were very smart and knowledgeable. One of the plugs wasn't even broke. It has a different switch out in the garage. All I have to do is press the button. So one of the techs tested that one and then we went to the garage and pressed the button, and even everything outside started working. But I'm not happy with AHS after this visit. They charge $100 every time somebody comes out. The guys assured me that I didn't have to pay the 100 for the microwave, but AHS wants to charge me another $100 just for somebody to come out because it's an appliance and they did other work in the house.

If I have a service call for electrical, and they came in, and they wrote up the paperwork saying that it wasn't electrical, and it was the appliance itself, they shouldn't re-charge that person. I'm in disagreement with them right now. So when my contract is up with them in July, I'm not renewing it. Also, they don't cover anything outside. So if you have a plumbing leak outside in your garden, they don't cover it. I have found a different warranty company that does.

Other than that, the claim was for a water heater issue and the guy who came out sussed out that it was those upper and lower thermometers that were broken. He replaced them on the same day and he was totally friendly. He also wore his mask while he was here.

All in all, American Home Shield's claims process was pretty streamlined. But when I first got the warranty, we got off to a rocky start. The first claim that I tried to do about some plumbing issue, the guy who came out did not suss it out right and said he couldn't do it. The problem was one of the things that American Home Shield doesn't cover, so I had to call another plumber outside of American Home Shield for that and that cost thousands of dollars later. So that really soured me a bit on American Home Shield. But the last couple of times I've used them had been fine.

He was able to tighten it up and make that heater on again. It is working correctly now. I am also having some problem with my plumbing. I’m seeing some leakage from somewhere. I opened that claim as well and the contractor came by a couple of times to take a look at it. Finally, he said that he probably needed to contact AHS to get an approval because he needed to cut the ceiling to see what went wrong to that area.

I had American Home Shield since November and it is truly the best decision I made. A month later or so, I had a claim that I needed to get out and then to address, and everything I could imagine with a warranty company came to fruition. It was an awesome switch because I had one where they were trying to get more money. But American Home Shield definitely deserved my money. I wish there's an app that I can do on my phone. But in the entire process where I had to submit the claim online, it was easy, practical, and self-explanatory.

The evening prior, I got the call for service. The initial conversation I had with the individual from Neblett Construction wasn't what I wanted to hear because she wanted to push me out to Monday, after the holidays, and it was currently a Wednesday. I told her that my house was in the low 60s, extremely uncomfortable, and I needed somebody to come out. If they can't help me that day, American Home Shield can find me another vendor or contractor. Then she said she would give me a callback. She called me back literally a couple of minutes later and said that somebody would be out that day at a time frame of 8:00 to noon.

The technician had a busy schedule, it was leading up to the holiday, and he still came and fixed the problem and ensured that I understood what was going on. He was fantastic from the beginning to the end. Phenomenal customer service. It was streamlined. American Home Shield knows how to take care of their people. Keep up the superb customer service and the way of performing and conducting business.

The technicians sent by American Home Shield have been fine. We just had one come out and fix our microwave last week and he was wonderful. But the airconditioner claim was a biggie. The air conditioner wasn't working. It was the hottest week of the year and we had to go for two weeks to wait for a system. Then the contractor came out and did the same halfway-fixing that American Home Shield wanted and they didn't cover anything. We ended up replacing the whole darn system at our cost because they wanted to just do a patch and it wasn't going to work for us.

We had the work done in September and we sent the claim in. We've been waiting for the claim for a long time. American Home Shield said it got lost on a desk. We’ve been paying on this account since we bought the house 20 years ago. So it's a little bit disappointing when we have a claim and they say that they don't know what has happened. We’re not happy right now with their service.

On the 4th, I received an email stating, “There were limitations associated with approving your stoppage for dispatch ** under your American Home Shield service.” I called in about it and the rep said, "What you’re requesting isn't covered.” I told her the plumber had already come out on the 30th. The pump motor had failed. I had tried resetting the breaker but there was no power at all. Aquatic Pool and Spa contacted me and I told them what was going on. The technician came out and he had to order a motor. He said he'd be back in a couple of days. He did and put it in. The system was restored but in this process of removing the old electric motor and putting the new electric motor in, he had to sort of work in a precarious position of working over some of the existing plumbing equipment that operates the pool.

From the pump to the filter, there were pipes. In working over this location, he must have hit the pipe enough times trying to remove the motor from the pump itself. A couple of days later, my wife noticed a noise. It was air being sucked into the system when the pump came on because the pipeline must have been fractured just enough that under pressure, there would be a leak. I called AHS and they said they'd send Aquatic Pool and Spa back out in order to repair the break. I have contacted Aquatic Pool and we set up a time and date.

Dana was the gal that I spoke with. She was right on time and understood the situation. I asked her if I should stop payment on my check to Aquatic Pool and Spa to make sure that they respond. She said that was not necessary and they got me covered. The owner of Aquatic Pool and Spa and I communicated via text and I have no doubt that Steve and their service tech will be here tomorrow afternoon with the part. He was quite knowledgeable of the work that needed to be done. However, I was under the impression that they would come out and replace the pump in kind. But seeing it wasn't replaced in kind because of legislative changes, the contract agreement should be a little clearer so people know what they're signing up for.

When the original guy from A & E came out, he said that the unit was all rusted inside and we really needed a new furnace. He also said that it had a capacity issue so we really needed for the unit to be replaced. When I asked him how much it would be, he told me that it was gonna cost me at least $1,000 out of pocket. I didn't have $1,000 and all I could do was ask him to at least get the unit working. He said that he'd who what he could and he got the unit working enough. But something else happened. The outside fan wasn't working so another guy from A & E came back out. The guy showed me the inside of the furnace. It is rusted really badly. He told me what he did and explained that it could work for a while and stop. So at some point, I would need to look into getting the unit replaced.

Other people that use American Home Shield have other service companies. But for me, even though I'm a part of Birmingham, Alabama, it seems crazy to have just two companies to choose from. The first company I had come out, they always provided the schedule they wanted me to have and it was never convenient for me. I'm a school teacher and I go to school and work and it's convenient for me when I tell them that I need them to come. I told American Home Shield that I did not want to deal with that company ever again. They were overpriced and they'd always find something else that I got to pay for out of my pocket for them, besides the $75. But A & E was the one company that worked with me as far as time to be able to come.

It never fails that I have to turn around and call American Home Shield when it's anything with my heating and air. The first guy worked for an hour to try to get something done. Then the second guy was out in the rain between the furnace inside and the fan outside for probably two hours to get it done. At this point, I don't know what it would take for me to have to get my unit replaced 'cause even the service guy said that with a lot of companies, it would be hard to get it replaced. But overall, American Home Shield is a good company. And I would still work with them.

When you push your microwave, it signals that the door is indeed closed but the connections that are inside the door stopped working. So, I couldn’t use my microwave. The guy came out and brought connections and replaced them but for whatever reason, it still was not working. He told me that I probably needed a new one so he put it in. Now, I’m waiting on American Home Shield to do their part. When I've had stuff replaced before, I usually get an email from American Home Shield the next day. The service on the microwave was on Monday so, it's been a few days.

What was aggravating was that I called before Christmas, which was before we knew that the connections weren't gonna matter anyway. The guy said that AHS makes them buy their stuff and they want to order the parts. I understand that but it sucks because the guy could have at least attempted to do it. We would have known before Christmas that just changing the connections wouldn't work. It's not a good way to do business. I'm paying $70 a month already. So, over the year, and if this is the only thing that I have to get fixed, I could buy a microwave in a couple of months for the cost that AHS is charging me and I can get it done fast. It's one of those things where I'm not even sure if it's worth having on the smaller stuff because if there was a way I could pick and choose, I would pick the large stuff. But even then, with $70 a month over 12 months, I could buy brand new appliances because they’re not replacing everything.

Being without a microwave is hard right now because my kids go to school. They don’t use microwaves at school so if they want hot food, I have to use a thermos when trying to heat up food in the morning to pack their lunch. You have to either cook it on the stovetop or in the oven, which depending on what you're heating up takes a while. I've managed because I still have a heating source. But I was a little upset that the guy couldn't at least attempt to replace it even though he had the tools to do so or the parts. We would have known about it already and we would have already put it in. Then, I would already have a microwave at this point.

AHS ends up choosing good repair people but if it's something that's not a specific part, but it may be a general part, it wouldn't be a bad idea if they had it on hand, even if it's from American Home Shield or come to some sort of a different agreement. If the price difference between what American Home Shield can get the part for and what these guys can get it for is $5, then that's ridiculous to force me as a customer to wait until American Home Shield buys the parts and mails it.

We are selling our house. After the inspection was done, there were some findings from the buyer's HVAC company. Based on those findings, I called and sent the report to American Home Shield's account. They came out and said that everything looked okay, so there was some conflict there. So, I had AHS come out again. They had the full report of the initial HVAC company's notes and again, they came back with a similar finding that this is not necessarily urgent or has to be repaired. They were nice. As long as they inspected everything and provided a report, I was fine with what they did. Right now, it's very confusing because one company's saying something and another company's saying something else, and so this week, we're bringing in a third party that doesn't have any bias towards the buyer or the seller.

I'm happy with American Home Shield. They have helped me in the past. I'm not happy with the most recent event, which is a different ticket, and that I have no hot water and no one calls me. Until I made the phone call, that was when I found out that the company didn't plan on servicing us. It's been a couple of days already. The tech that came out was good. He was very helpful and polite. Most people come play around, but he came right in and did what he's supposed to do. Everything is going good. He said there were roots growing in a line. He said, for the most part, in a year or two, it will need to be replaced. American Home Shield is prompt about their service. That's the best thing when you're looking for something to get fixed really quickly.

The claims submission with American Home Shield is easy to do. I have to call them in. I had a claim for my hot water heater. A guy from Bill's Plumbing came and he repaired it. It was a switch. The quality of work was great.

After several call and unqualified technicians calling and coming to our home our Bosch tankless hot water heater was serviced by one of their top notch team. He was scheduled to come at 2Pm however he didn’t get here until 8PM and was high on **, said it wasn’t serviceable and would return tomorrow. He never showed back up. We called them back to ask what was going on and my wife was talked down to and my daughter was called an inbred!

I had just purchased the home and asked for an “American Home Warranty” which I have had excellent service from in the past. I wrote the VP Raj Midha. He had Jody ** email me and I was told basically that I had to pay got the service call from a company I chose since they didn’t have anyone in my area, and if the prognosis was that it hadn’t been maintained I had to pay the bill in full! Now I had gotten this warranty as a new purchase. How the hell do I know if the previous owner maintained it? They don't care. I wouldn’t recommend this company to shine my sneakers!!!! Never mind protecting my assets! Beware. They have many names. Do your research. Please don’t be another VICTIM of on American company deception!

I just submitted a claim to American Home Shield online, saw a text and called the next day to reverse the whole thing. It totally failed because the app wasn't working properly. But we bypassed that and had them come out. They came out and fixed the thing in about 10 minutes, and that was it. The tech was very friendly. Everything's still working.

I submitted a claim online with AHS for my washing machine. They responded to it right away. The tech also called before he was gonna be there and updated my girlfriend the whole way through. The only waiting that we had to do was on the actual appliance and the main maker of the appliance. AHS has a quick response time and offers helpful service.

We had a plumber come out two times and the guy was terrible. He said it was cosmetic and he used some putty on the faucet to stop it from moving around but it was all off-center. The cold water was turned around so much, it hit the bar and the hot water started in the middle of the faucet. It wasn't satisfactory and American Home Shield sent out a master plumber or somebody else. But the same plumber came out. I looked at him and he looked at me, and I said that they didn't send a different plumber out. He said that I got him, and he walked out and left. We called AHS and they sent another plumber out. I was happy with the guy. I would highly recommend Steinberg but the other company that came out first was a joke. It was ridiculous.

American Home Shield is good. The moment you give a call, they try to take care of it instantly the same day. Also, the tech who came was very knowledgeable. He was telling us the process and how to prevent future failures. When there was an issue once, they came back out and they checked everything back up again. So far right now, everything's working good.

My sink was stopped up and the water was dripping in the bathroom. I couldn't get an appointment. I had to deal with dirty water from December 26 to December 31st ‘cause they were busy. But the guy was great when he came up here and unstopped the sink. The faucet in the bathtub was dripping too and it wasn’t dripping when he left. But a couple of days later, it started dripping that was why I called them back. We had an appointment today but it got canceled. Now I got to wait till Saturday because the guy called in sick. But I don't have any problem with American Home Shield. In fact, I recommended my sister in Dallas to them.

I called the customer service number for my heater that was blowing cold air. The process was extremely easy. It prompted me through the recordings and asked if I wanted to pay with the card they have on file. I said yes and it explained that it was $100 deductible. They said that somebody would be contacting me the next day. The guy called and scheduled the appointment. He came out two days later and fixed it.

American Home Shield is the best decision I ever made. My brother told me to sign up with them. He explained the situation that he had. His microwave wasn't working and because they couldn't fix it, he got a brand new microwave. I contacted my mom because she recently had to pay for a new oven. I told her she needed to get American Home Shield because she can afford $39.99 and she wouldn't be having to have to put all her money together to replace her stove.

We have three homes. My sister, my daughter-in-law, and myself have had American Home Shield for the last 20 years and we have had nothing but problems with them, including with our AC in the summer and the other house. We have had a lot of issues and there have been rude technicians. They were wearing masks, but that was in the summertime. When the technician came for the washing machine, everything went out-of-place and then someway, somehow, the dryer also started with problems. I don't know if it has anything to do with the plumbing with it. It's taking forever (two weeks) for the whole thing and it's still not fixed. I'm not happy at all.

We've been satisfied with Home Shield's service. We've had like three different issues during the year, and they were all taken care of. The technicians were very professional and polite. They cleaned up everything when they were done. They were great. There was one guy who didn't even show so I called Home Shield back and they sent somebody else, and that guy took care of the issue.

Home Shield is a worthwhile investment because we have an older home and things go quickly around here. They've always picked up the slack. We had to get a whole refrigerator replaced. They didn't give us the exact money I needed to replace it, but they gave us a considerable amount towards it because it was a built-in.
