We've been pleasantly surprised with American Home Shield. When we were looking at reviews, they had pretty bad reviews, so I was a little skeptical. But we've been fortunate. Each time we put in for a claim, they have been really good. Arctic Blue Pool came out for an electrical panel. The low flow filtration switch, every time we turn it on, it would pop. The tech thought it was maybe a fuse. I think he tried doing a fuse and that didn't work. They had to replace the entire electrical panel.
We put in a claim for the refrigerator. The cooling element went out and they came out three or four times to fix it. That was a little frustrating. They spent more money fixing it than they did if they could have just replaced it. That was the one time I was questioning, "Why don't they just replace it?" The technician that came out said, "They're just gonna keep fixing it and we'll just keep coming out, and it's really up to them." I supposed they thought it was gonna be cheaper to fix it but I can't imagine.

It’s pretty simple to file a claim with American Home Shield and they are able to get somebody in touch within 24 hours or even the same day. The people that they use are pretty professional. I had an issue with AHS when I had gotten some work done a few months ago about getting reimbursed, but I was able to get in touch with the right person eventually and got that all satisfied.
The automated service at the beginning is a little bit clunky to get directly to a customer service agent. When you wanna speak to a customer service representative, they automatically assume that you're calling to have something repaired. So sometimes, if you're not able to get through that automated service, you can start a claim even though you're able to cancel it pretty quickly. It should be a little more streamlined. But outside of that, you just hang up, call back again and ask for customer service during the automated. If you catch it right, they’ll be able to route you over there.

I had the hot water heater put in in November and it had a lot of leaking around it. The contractor had come out before but nothing was resolved. It was obviously leaking from the top of the tank. I don't really know if it was all connected but it’s resolved now. What I didn’t like was that in November, when I asked to have the hot water heater repaired, it took three weeks to get it to me. That was ridiculous, especially since it was a hot water heater. I would think that would have been expedited. I happen to have two hot water heaters in my house but they didn’t know that. But the people American Home Shield has sent out to my home were really good. Submitting a claim is also very easy. I do it online.

I’m in real estate and about 95% of the home warranties I order are from American Home Shield. Recently, I had a claim for the furnace that didn't work. I talked to the contractor on the phone and my experience with them was wonderful. The techs who came out did a great job as well and I had no problems with them. I’d have them back again without missing a beat. All in all, I was extremely satisfied.

Everything went well, but the quality of the faucet replacement that was provided was not that great. I wanted to either pay for an upgrade or buy my own, but they said they couldn’t do it, so I honored that. I made that request because my faucet had been replaced less than a year ago and it seemed like it didn’t hold up. I didn’t really want that same, less-quality product, but I'll see in another year. If the customer wanted to pay for a better grade, then I see no reason why that should not be permitted. But I understand the piece about buying your own. If the quality doesn’t hold up then the customer could then say, “This is poor workmanship or poor quality,” when in fact, you bought it yourself. I don’t use AHS that often and I don’t know if it’s cost-effective for me to continue renewing my membership. But it’s very convenient for me because I don’t have the time to do the research to see if other companies offer something different.

I’m a very frugal person. I always think about the dollars that I spend. I spend over $800 a year on the warranty. My husband thinks it is still worth it. To me, we're not going to really spend $750 a year if anything breaks down ‘cause not everything breaks down the same year. With my dishwasher claim, it takes $75 for the technician to show me that we have to click quickly on the hot water and close the door before it goes to the cold box, which to me is a very defective thing that they build. So I pay $75 for that on top of 700 some dollars that I pay a year.
One year, we had a washing machine that broke down. The guy came and they said we needed a washing machine. I paid $75 and they give me a $400 allowance for a washing machine. So, if I would have bought that myself without all that hassle, it would have cost me no more than that. But their workers were decent people and they came on time and did what they had to. We had some kind of hair in my stuff got in the garbage disposal. The technician just turned it with his wrench, turned it over, and flushed it. It was a five-minute job. The technician was a very nice guy. He was cordial and was exactly on time.

When I submitted my two claims to Home Shield, I was trying to get a person and each time I was getting that person, AHS's reps would tell me that somebody would call. But then, no one would. It appears that I gotta pay the contracting fee first and that is when my claim goes into their queue and I am contacted by their contractor. There needs to be more of an explanation of that - either automated or AHS allowing customers to know that in order for their claim to go through they have to pay the contract fee upfront.
GE Appliances, AHS's contractor came for my claim regarding an appliance issue. The tech assessed the situation and ordered a part. He then came back out and implemented the replacement. The claim went great. So far, it seems that the replacement of the baking sensor has fixed my problem. I just renewed for my second year with AHS.

My first experience with AHS wasn’t a really good one. It was the wintertime and I had no hot water. My water heater went out and I could not get anybody to get out. It took over a week before someone came. And every time I called, I was told they were trying to get authorization. After it was fixed, I was really thinking about discontinuing and going with someone else. But I said that maybe that was just a one-time deal and that I'd see how it went. And then everything has been quick and fine so far.
When cold air wasn't coming out of my AC, I went outside and there was a lot of racket. On top of that, it was really hot so, I cut it off. I emailed American Home Shield on a Saturday and didn’t check my email, but I saw Bennett emailed me back that evening to set up an appointment. I was pretty impressed by that. A few of my friends weren’t aware that you could get something like a home warranty and I told them that I was very satisfied with mine. I let them know that to me, it's a godsend.

The heating unit was firing but it wasn’t providing any heat. We went online to submit a claim on a Monday and within 15 minutes, a phone call was made. They left a message and I called back and scheduled an appointment. Three days later, South Placer came out by Thursday, they were out. It was a very smooth and very easy process. South Placer gave us a window of 8:00 to 2:00 and the technician came within that window. Although it was on the later end of the window, it was fine. He made the repair and he was professional. It was all good. I was a little surprised that the reviews of the company were so poor. He was pretty solid and he did the work fine. So I gave them a good review.

When I signed up with American Home Shield, that person was good. The technicians from Douglas Mechanical were awesome as well. They were really knowledgeable and there was good communication as far as everything goes. The initial phone call to set up for a technician to come out was not bad too, but when the air conditioner guy was out here, there was a separate issue with the furnace. I had to call back to set up another appointment and I told American Home Shield I wanted the same people out here because they already came out here once.
This was the start of this whole stupid pandemic, so I was on hold forever and got disconnected a million times. I had to call back and get another representative. I also went through the whole spiel again with someone who didn’t speak very good English. At one point, she said she couldn't guarantee the same people. I was mad because I know I can’t request a service technician, but they already sent those people out once before and I like them. They’ve already diagnosed the furnace problem too. Stil, American Home Shield has been great. I like it, and I recommended other people to purchase it.

The garage door wouldn’t open. The first technician who came out didn't know what he was doing and gave up. The second one that came out took care of the problem. Everything is working fine now. I would recommend them with the concern that the first experience I had with them in replacing an air conditioner went bad that I had to go through the chamber of commerce to get it repaired.
Two other people came out to look at the problem. One was the president of the company that serviced it and he apologized over and over again. Then they did right so I was satisfied with that, but it should never have happened the way it happened the first time. The first people that came out didn't get done till about 11:30 at night, which was unbelievable to begin with. Then I had a couple of problems after the install and the head guy went back out to see what was going on. He said that everything was up to code. But nothing was up to code. It was a bad experience and took months to get it corrected.

I needed some of the studs that way my toilet could be bolted back down to the floor. Innovative Plumbing Solutions said that they did a modification when it wasn’t even a big deal and then, American Home Shield said that they wouldn’t cover it because it was a fabrication. My buddy and I just went ahead and did it ourselves. Also Dave’s Appliance was supposed to reach out to me, and they haven’t contacted me about fixing my washing machine. It’s leaking water from underneath. It’s been 24 hours.
AHS has too many stipulations. There’s a lot of stuff that they don’t cover that’s in the fine print and I don’t agree with that. I’m paying $60 a month and then they said that they wouldn’t cover something in the toilet. I’m sure a lot of other people feel like we’re just paying money for nothing. I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody.

We've always been satisfied with their service. I absolutely love that I can do my claims online instead of having to call. Their contractors have all been very professional. We've had to wait for them to come out. But last time, they came the same day, which shocked me, but they’ve always been in a very timely manner. We got the warranty when we bought the house. And because I was very pleased with the service, I just kept it going. It’s just the relief of not having to find a contractor come to your house, you don’t know how much time that saves just not going through webpages and stuff, “Is this company reputable?” I just go online, submit the claim, then Home Shield sends someone. If I’m not happy, I call them. That right there in itself is just a gem. The hot water heater did not work and it was always leaking. Home Shield said a contractor would contact me within 24 hours, and they did. A-American Plumbing fixed a lot of things in my house. They’re awesome. I’ve referred Home Shield to everybody I know. The claim for the microwave went fine. The tech from Lake Area did a great job and he was very professional. The only issue that I had was with my washer. The tech said that the brackets on the tub were open or warped causing the problem and when he left, he said he was gonna order the part. I thought he was gonna order it along with the part for the refrigerator and the microwave. Then, I got a call from Home Shield saying that according to how they diagnosed it, it wasn’t covered.
My friend has Home Shield as a home warranty company also and she seemed to have had no issues when it comes to doing things. She had a hot water heater replaced or worked on and it didn’t cost her anything. It cost me quite a bit to have mine redone. When I asked about that, the excuse I was given was that it was because of what I had done and that I got this type of hot water heater, compared to some other type of water heater. I’m kinda confused as to what is covered and what is not covered. With the washer, I would have to pay to get whatever part it is, which I didn’t even ask, or I would have to purchase a new washing machine. The rep said they could send another company out to check it but I didn’t want to risk or chance them coming out and then tell me I have the same problem. I would be out of $150.
The contractors have been usually pretty good, although there was one time that a guy came out and he was kinda rude. We came to find out they don’t work on weekends. The rep told me they were located in Rowlett, which was kind of far from me, and I said it would’ve been nice if there could have been somebody in my area. And the rep said it’s because I went through the automated part. The next time, when I called in for the washer, microwave, and refrigerator, I talked to somebody and I specifically asked them if they're in my area and she said yes. But then, they’re still the same people. I wish there would be some kind of way where I could get somebody that’s in my area and maybe the service would be a little bit quicker when I do request service. But other than that, I have no issues with anything.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had Home Shield when I stayed at one house. Then when I moved to this home, they gave me a free year so once I got to, I renewed the contract. Everything that they've been doing has been fine. I had a major plumbing issue a while back and they had to go deeper into it and that's why they didn't cover it. But other than that, I haven't had any problem with them. Recently, I had an AC issue. At first, it won't come on. The techs came out and they got it working. They had to change the fan motor. Then it stopped again and had the same problem. The tech told me that what happened was somebody left a wire loose or they burnt out.
Home Shield is worth the money if you own a home and I have been telling people that it's good. My daughter let AHS go but I encouraged her to go back and get it. One time, she had to pay out of pocket 'cause she didn't get the warranty. Then another time, she didn't have to pay out of pocket 'cause she went on and purchased it.

It took the contractor about eight days to come out after I submitted the claim for my washer and my dishwasher. They told me it was because of the coronavirus. They fixed my dishwasher but about two days later, it did the same thing. I had to call AHS and they made another appointment with the same contractor. My dishwasher was not draining and the tech came out. He pulled a little cap off on the sink and he said there was food clogged in there. It worked for a few days and then it got clogged up again. I tried calling him but there was no answer, so I had to call American Home Shield again. This went on for four or five days that nobody could get him to answer the phone. Then I told them that I wanted somebody else. The first company was not reliable. They didn’t know what they were doing. The tech did the quickest thing and then ran out the door. American Home Shield then got me Savvytech. They ended up coming out yesterday and repaired it. The dispenser is working properly since.
My experience hasn’t been wonderful with American Home Shield. I had to call them on an icemaker and a dishwasher. The icemaker took four trips to fix and the dishwasher was two. I’m kind of suspect about the people that they send out. So far, nothing that I’ve submitted a claim for has been fixed the first time. So I’m frustrated about that. It does end up getting fixed, but you have to fight and argue about it. They don’t wanna send a second person out because then they have to pay that person when they’ve already paid the first technician that came out.
The people that they contract with are not high quality companies that stand behind their work by any means. I talked to a lady at American Home Shield and she said that if they get enough return calls on someone or if they have to come out to your house more than once, then they don’t use them anymore. I told her this was the second time this has happened to me. They need to improve on their hiring process.

So far, American Home Shield has replaced a microwave and a dishwasher. They've had to do some work on the air conditioner as well. My only complaint with the air conditioning was that we had to pay quite a bit for the Freon in it, although that was in the contract. I just didn’t realize how much Freon was. But the two installers we've had were from the same company and they did a real good job on the microwave. It wasn’t just a microwave. It was a microwave convection oven and we were pretty well-pleased.
On our first year, we only paid 250 for the warranty. When we sold the first house, getting American Home Shield was originally part of the deal and the seller paid half of it. When we moved into a new house, we wanted to make sure we won’t have any problems with appliances. For the second year, we had to pay 700. That was kind of a surprise that it was that much more but we decided to do it anyway and we’re actually okay on it. The warranty expires in July and I’m planning on signing up with them. I’m pretty well-pleased with American Home Shield.

They said they would assign somebody to fix it and that I would hear from that person. That person called and set an appointment with me. Two or three days later, Home Choice Services showed up and found the problem but couldn't fix it. They had to order parts and then had to come back to fix it. It went very smoothly. The guy was very polite, efficient, and seemed to be professional.

When we bought our home, the appliances and things in it were already under warranty through the previous owner and then we just extended it. After I talked to someone at AHS to submit a claim, the next thing I know I had an email that the person was gonna come out. When Steve, the contractor, called me to schedule the time, he knew that the issue was. Our refrigerator's fan kept running and it got louder and louder. He had to get in there and get all the ice out of it. The ice was keeping the fan from really turning around and stuck. His performance was wonderful. He was really a nice guy, friendly and very professional.

With everything going on, they put on protective stuff and we kept our distance and the guy looked at everything I wanted. He told me exactly what he thought was happening and explained everything. He told us what was happening wasn't something he could repair. So he was very thorough and I found him very pleasant.

Things have been very good so far in the 10 years I've been with American Home Shield. Submitting claims has been easy. I had one experience though when the contractor was not that good. But, Home Shield sent a contractor for a second opinion and they resolved my problem. Recently, I requested service saying that my heating unit is not heating. Their tech from Union Express came in and checked. Now, everything works fine.

My washer and my dryer were malfunctioning. It was easy to submit the claim and American Home Shield was very accommodating. My dryer gave me problems first so I called Universal 1 and made the appointment for it, which was no problem. In the meantime, I was walking by my washing machine and I noticed it was sounding differently and it wasn’t washing proper. So I called the contractor back and told them my washer was acting up too and asked if they could do both things. They said yes and didn’t charge me extra. So the one visit was my $100 deductible for both. They just added both incidents to the one ticket.
Everything was good. American Home Shield called me and Universal 1, and then they sent me a text stating the person that would be out, and before he came, he sent a text saying that he was on his way. Their service was on time, and they were courteous. They did what they said they were gonna do. They replaced my washing machine because they couldn’t have a part to repair. They let me select through the website a washing machine. If I wanted to upgrade it, it would cost me more, but I kept within the specs that my washing machine had to what they were offering. So there was no charge. Everything worked out really well for me.
Having the warranty is great. I’ve had different warranties on my appliances and the amount that I’m paying with American Home Shield is roughly about the same. However, the service is a little different. Also, it added some different things like my ceiling fans and smoke detectors. It was more than what I’m getting with having warranty on each appliance separately. I have a group coverage this way.
Excellent Darnetta! We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

I had requested for service for a possible pipe leak dripping from the garage ceiling. Service call was placed and the plumber came, checked the pipes, cut a hole in the garage ceiling and found the leak was not through a pipe but through a few loose tiles in the bathroom upstairs. The guy said he cannot fix the loose tile but said there will be someone else coming to patch up the hole in the garage ceiling. I called 3 different times and customer service said they will inform the vendor to come fix the hole. Since April 1, 2020 till today no one has come to fix the issue. It's been 14 days today but still no one came to fix the hole. I am not satisfied with the service and looking to change the insurance company.

My plumbing claim finally went all right but Drain Masters had to come out four times before they got me fixed. The tech seemed like a really nice person though. He had gloves and a mask on. I felt that he was being safe because my husband and I are both seniors and with health issues. So he was very careful about that. But every time he left here, he thought he had it fixed and yet every time I turned around, it was like I had water under my kitchen sink. It might not have bothered me as badly but with the situation in the world right now, my nerves are just not the greatest thing in the world.
One time, he hadn’t even gotten out of our neighborhood before it started leaking again. I called their office and they contacted him. They told him to turn around and get back. It seemed like the repair took too many times. My nerves kinda wore out before they finally got it fixed. Twice I can live with but with four times, my nerves were shot. However, I am not a plumber and I know nothing about plumbing. Maybe it was just one of those things that took a while. That aside, my husband and I are very satisfied with American Home Shield. We’re seniors and it's easier to contact them and let them find somebody whenever we need help instead of us having to look all over the place for somebody.

My son is in the military and one time, we were able to go see him. When we were away, I had a friend come over to sit my house and one of the neighbors who knew I was gone came over and told my friend that water was leaking everywhere. They shut my water off and I called American Home Shield right then and there on a Saturday or Sunday. They answered and they immediately contacted their contractor, Leak Seekers. That contractor was out at my place the next day and got the issue fixed. I've been with AHS for four and a half years now and this was the second time we had to use their warranty. The first time we used them, our water heater went out, and we got it replaced through them as well. Everything works in a timely fashion.

The website is always user-friendly. You check off boxes for what's wrong and then it goes to the next thing. You also have a place where you can type in something, like a little description of what you're talking about. Sometimes, it gives you options that don't really apply but it's close. Then Home Shield usually calls us or send us an email, like a little message. They even send us a text message that the contractor had been assigned. They'll say the contractor will call us or we can call them. But I never call them because the last time I did that, the lady said it was the weekend and I would have to wait for them to call me. And I thought, "Well, okay."
For the most part, the contractors are okay and I'm happy because the work they do is okay. Initially, I started with American Home Shield in 2017 then I took a break because, the whole time, I used it once and I was trying to cut back on things. But now, I got Home Shield again since my kids are grown, except for one, and we don't have boys at the house to do whatever.

I’ve always said that I wanted to get Home Shield, but someone told me that they didn’t do mobile homes. But when I called, they do so I went on and got it. I had a cousin that has the home warranty too and she loves it. When I submitted a claim, I called their number and asked them that I needed someone to come out to check my air condition and my duct and make sure that everything was okay with it.
Reep's called me that same day, confirmed that they got the stuff, and told me the day that they were gonna do it. It was all in order. Then, they came out and they said something about one of the breaker box things where the air control was at was completely off. The tech fixed that and when he turned that back on and checked on my other stuff, he said something about that my vents on the floor, which need to be changed out. I liked the tech. He was real professional and made sure everything was right. Ever since he left, my air and heat seem like they're doing a whole lot better through the whole house.

I’ve had an experience where I have had to really fight my way through to getting the right contractor. AHS kept insisting on sending their own contractor and I kept insisting on having my preferred contractor. I wish they had a way for me to pick my own contractor versus them assigning one, and then, having to fight about exchanging it. Other than that, I like having the coverage for my pool and home equipment.
When a part of an old equipment cracked and broke, the options that AHS had online was insufficient for me to put in the claim. I had to call them and let them know exactly what was broken. I’ve seen that, sometimes, if the thing that I put in was not correct, they'd say that it was not covered. And sometimes, I’m even deducted for putting in something. The contractor who came was very professional. He took a look at the equipment and had to get something. But he came right back and fixed it.

Draingo came out to switch out my water heater. It went out on a Monday. They showed up on a Thursday. And this is the second time. Last year, our air conditioner went out in the middle of the summer, and we had to wait almost a week for someone to come out. And then, it was another 10 days before they fixed it. And this time, it was another week before they fixed our hot water heater, so we had to take cold baths and showers.
For the air conditioning, they were having to wait on approval from American Home Shield for at least half of that time period. And then, American Home Shield would not allow them to order the part, so they had to wait for the approval, and then, they had to order the part. For the hot water heater, we had to wait on approval. They called me at 8 o’clock one night and said that there were gonna be overages of about $400 for the retrofitting of the hot water heater. And I approved that. And they told me that they would be ordering the part. So, I waited. Three days later, I called Draingo because I hadn’t heard from them. They did not receive the approval from American Home Shield. But once I called them, they were out the same day. I had been an American Home Shield customer since 2010 and it’s more expensive to get a technician out, but it’s taking longer to get things fixed. And that’s not a good thing.
I’m currently looking for another type of home warranty system. I paid consistently every single month. I’ve done exactly what they all expected me to do. It’s just that when I ask for something to be fixed or there's an issue, there is absolutely no sense of urgency. And maybe that has to do with the limited number of contractors that work with American Home Shield, so they don't have a full roster of people that they can get out here.
I live right outside of Memphis, Tennessee. So, there has to be more contractors available to have contracts with American Home Shield, so that when people have serious issues like air conditioning in the summertime, or even the furnace and the heater in the wintertime, water heaters, we should be able to get someone out here as quickly as possible, within the same day.
Because the water heater exploded. I called my homeowners’ insurance, and I had someone out from my homeowner's insurance who’s all the way in Pennsylvania somewhere, they were able to contact somebody to get them out here the same exact day that my water heater exploded. But they were out here looking at the water damage, but they couldn’t really do anything until the water heater was gone. So, that delayed everything in the process because the water heater was still up there, still leaking, they didn’t wanna do anything until that was out of here. So, it delayed the whole process. And now, I’m caught up in this whole matrix of my bathroom sheetrock, everything is exposed because the company that I was gonna use now has had someone else because there was a delay. It’s a domino effect. So, AHS needs to contract more people. That would be the easiest thing to do.
Over the years, we’ve used the service of AHS and it’s gotten progressively worse. When we first got it in 2010, the garage door was broken and they were out here quickly. Toilet was broken, out here quickly. Garbage disposal, out here quickly. But, over the years, it’s gotten progressively slower in getting a response from them. But, now once we get a response, the contractors that they sent out here had been good contractors.

I got a recommendation for American Home Shield. The service at the time was good. So far, I've been with the company for over 10 years. I call them when I need service like when my air conditioner was not cooling. The contractor they assigned to my claim did an excellent job, considering the environment we’re currently involved in. He showed up and I told him what was wrong. He came into the house, checked the attic unit, checked the inside units then he went outside and quickly located what the issue was. He told me what was needed and promptly repaired the problem. In no more than 30 minutes, he was on his way.
Everything was working fine. The condenser capacitor on the unit burnt out and this was replaced. As soon as this was done, the air conditioner started to cool. It went for like six days then all of a sudden, it was not cooling again. I called the tech directly because he told me to call him. The tech came back out and said that one of my valves had broken. Apparently, I lost all my Freon. I paid him for the Freon because I know that a portion of it isn’t covered by my American Home warranty. It’s $10 a pound that they cover. I had to pay $500 worth of Freon to put in my machine. I don't know if that’s good or bad, or right or wrong.

We got transferred to American Home Shield when we bought the condo a year ago and every time I've called, it has been exceptional service. The people they use have been exceptional too. They’re friendly, clean and professional. I wouldn't go with anyone else. Plus, the contractors respond within 24 hours. We thought we were gonna have to have the stove hood light replaced because it looked like there was a hole in there where there should've been a thing for a bulb. We found out that some are made that way and there was nothing missing. All it needed was a new lightbulb on the right-hand side so, I paid $75 to get a lightbulb changed. But that's okay. We're selling the condo and it was on the repairs list, so I needed someone to come out to verify. We changed the lightbulb and it's working. Everything's fine and I could show that we had that done.
We wanted everything covered because we knew we were selling the condo and we knew there were gonna be repairs that had to be done. AHS has always kept right up to the back. This new place we're trying to get is supposed to be giving us a home warranty for the first year. Amtec Services came out for our appliance issue. I requested that the service person wear gloves and mouthpiece. Because of the virus, I asked that he come prepared. He got the job done quickly, professionally, and he put his shoes off before he came in the house. It worked out well. My only big concern was that seven months ago AHS increased my monthly invoice without letting me know. I also don’t like the $100 deductible all the time. I don’t know if every job is worth that amount. I call myself a handyman but when there are things I don’t know about, I’m quick to call for help so the $100 is a bit steep for me every time I call.
I got a couple of more things around the house that need to be worked on and I’m a little hesitant about having a $100 taken out every time. Like, if I had three things that need to be fixed and they’re different ones, that’s $300. For a lot of people now that are aging, that's a lot of money. They’re also taking out almost $55 a month for two years. So, I got $300 and then the other $55. Right now, I know of one thing that I’ve been putting off because I have to prioritize which $100 I’m gonna pay. Hopefully, there won’t be another one that comes up because I’m on a real tight budget now. Other than that, it’s nice to have a warranty when stuff tears up around this house because I have an older house.

Air Design AC & Heating, American Home Shield's contractor came to service my recent claim. When they came out the first time, their tech said that he cleaned the pipe and flushed it. I didn't turn on my system again at the time 'cause I didn't need it. When I turned it on, I woke up the next morning and my sensor shut my system off 'cause it was wet where it was again. Air Design AC had to come back out because it was still leaking. They sent somebody else out and that guy thinks he fixed my system. Right now it's the coldest it has been over the last month. I like Air Design AC as they seem to know what they're doing. They're better than some other contractors I've had before.
I've had other companies for maintenance and appliances and a lot of people can't work on heat pumps. That tech who came has actually worked in my building before. So far, I've been happy with AHS's service. I had my microwave and dishwasher replaced through them this past fall. Their tech told me that he could probably fix my dishwasher but I told him that I didn't want it fixed as it already has mold in it. I'm deathly allergic so I had to get rid of it before I got sick again. I upgraded my units to stainless when they replaced them and they had it delivered in less than two days. They came out really fast. I couldn't believe it. I have since signed up my mother who is 90, with AHS. She just replaced her air or heat system this past winter. I've also told my sister that she needs to get American Home Shield's warranty but she didn't do it. An issue cost her $7,000 while she is on a fixed income so that was not very smart.

Also, they pay attention to the technicians that you get because, sometimes, different home warranty companies use different companies. And that’s where you start running into issues - when those companies come out to fix your services. I like the companies Home Shield uses. They get back within the 24-hour period. I was having issues with my dishwasher. The water wasn’t coming out and it wasn’t cleaning my dishes. Briggs Appliance came in and the two guys were covered head to toe. I’m a military guy, so we moved a lot. The very first house that I bought had a one-year warranty through American Home Shield as part of the agreement. I started using them and I have been using them ever since 2005. We kept the houses that we moved in to and I have had numerous rental properties. Last year, I tried another company. They were a little cheaper and I tried them for a couple of months while my American Home Shield contract was expiring. I wasn’t going to renew it, but I immediately had a bad experience with the other company. I couldn’t have been more disappointed when I tried to use them for the very first claim. It was something very simple too. Everything they said they do, they didn’t. Also, I couldn’t get anybody to answer the phone, call me back or respond to an email.
The contractor that they finally sent out broke something as well. He told us he did it but he wouldn’t tell them he did it. It was a disaster. Now, I’m happy with what I have and I'm going to keep it. I had a pool pump that would not turn on and I did a claim online. Since I have been with American Home Shield a long time, I have seen that website being plunky and challenging, but now, it’s very easy to use. You log in, request, submit, and it's done. I knew what I was doing and it took me just a couple of minutes. Normally, my expectation is to hear at least from the contractor within a day and them be out within the next day after that.
I have used a lot of contractors like everybody else and Hometown Pools & Spas was the best one. They called right away, told me when they're gonna be here and two days after the claim was submitted, they were here five minutes early. They told me what the problem was and said they were gonna order a part and that they would be back no later than a certain time. They were back exactly when they said they were gonna be back. They also had all the tools and all the equipment. They got the job done and they were out the door. They were super friendly too. It was truly one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor.

In fact, we’ve used that company before and that’s why I requested them again. I really appreciate the ability to do that. Being able to request someone who has already come out and kinda knows your property is really convenient. I have had several appointments and claims are always a problem. We property manage and American Home Shield, as all the rest of the companies because I’ve switched companies, use appliance repair techs or companies that are totally overloaded. I got a call this morning to repair an issue. It was the second time I’ve had to call and they were trying to schedule with a company that was fully booked. At first, they could get me in for next week then I questioned them and they said they could get me in between noon and 5:00 on Friday. From a service standpoint, if American Home Shield doesn't have more than one or two technician companies that can service, then they need more. People can’t live without an oven or a microwave, or maybe even a refrigerator for a week.
One of the calls on one of our properties was a refrigerator. It wasn’t cooling and then I was given a 10-day out appointment. That was ridiculous and you're locked-in to who they tell you you’re going to use. I talked to American Home Shield about the ref and they’re at times rude. I told them it didn't make sense and they told me that if I didn't like it, I could go to another warranty company. The experience is not good. The other day, when I was pushing number five on my microwave and I could hear it short out, it made me think. Did they put in a reconditioned touchpad when they replaced it in January? Is that why it shorted out or is there another problem that they didn’t address because they were only focused on that one little issue?
They’re coming out on Friday to fix this again and they don’t carry parts in their truck. Therefore, I have to wait. I usually ask them to give me a 30-minute window to call so I’m there, but I have to wait. I then have to wait again for another four days for them to order the part, and they have to call me up and say they can schedule to come out five days later. It takes freaking forever to get anything done. It’s all done on volume. I called about a plumbing issue and the guy came and looked at it. He said it was going to take longer than he thought, and he had 14 other appointments that day. He said he was going to have to come back the following week.
Are you kidding me? He's going to come back the following week for a plumbing stoppage and there’s sewage coming up in the shower. It’s not just American Home Shield though. Fidelity Home Warranty and all of them are the same way. I’m in real estate and I’ve used them all. They all use the same type of repair people. In some cases, the technicians were rude as well and they’re running off of a guideline sheet of what they can and can’t do. Also, almost every single one that I’ve had in the last two years has been Eastern European and they speak very broken English.

I started the service with American Home Shield in 2019 at the recommendation of someone else. We were looking for this kind of protection for our home and this person had it. When my washer wasn’t spinning at all, I simply made a phone call to AHS for servicing and I was given the name of the contractor by whoever I spoke to at that time. That person was very supportive and they followed-through with what they said was going to happen. They gave me an expected time frame for them to contact me by phone, and then that phone call with whoever the service company was going to be would tell me when they could actually come to address my issue.
The contractor was sent in a day and it was excellent dealing with them. The initial call that I made involved the washer and the technician did everything that he was supposed to do. Then, it stopped working. He returned and did whatever he needed to address to repair the issue. We haven’t had any problems since then. It’s been like a new washer and it’s performing very well.

The owner came out with his assistant and they were very courteous. He was very respectful and got right in, got right out, and everything was fine. He was able to troubleshoot and get us on and then he also recognized that there were some other needs that we had. I’ve had AHS for at least 17 years ever since I’ve lived here. They do a good job as far as getting people out here. I understand when I called them Friday or Saturday that they're not gonna get anybody ‘til Monday and they’ve been good about going that. But this recent claim has just got me confused. I first called it in on the 20th. AHS told me $75 for the toilet and the Whirlpool and they gave me my confirmation number. One came out for the commodes and then another one came out for the bathtub. Everything went fine until I got the bill for $75, which I’ve only paid once. I talked to two different people at AHS. One was Lilian in Tennessee and she said that she wrote it up and it showed all that was included. I then talked to Beverly a couple of days later and she sent for a concession. She said I didn't have to pay, but it might take five or seven days to get that information out.
This is the first time that this has happened and I don't know if they’ve taken care of the billing or not. Normally, when the first people came out, they automatically billed it the first time. You don't hear any more about it. But I’ve been getting emails that I am past due. If I am, they should get it on the credit card. That’s what they're supposed to do with it. The ability to talk to a person rather than go through the automation thing would be my only recommendation for change. Then, our commode stopped up. We called somebody that we used before ‘cause we needed to get it done that day. They came out and didn't charge us.

Air Link Mechanical came out for an AC issue. They handled it fine and they replaced the air conditioner. However, I was displeased with the whole American Home Shield coverage and how much it was gonna cost us that we had already been paying for it for two and a half years. I felt that more of it should have been covered and since we ended up upgrading it anyway. I did not realize that they only pay $600 of coolant, which was gonna end up costing us another $600, on top of the $100 service call. So, they were wanting to replace the compressor, which is fine except that next year if another component broke, because the unit is 15 years old, it would be another $100 for the service call. And if the refrigerant needed to be replaced again, it would have been another $600 for replacing the refrigerant. I felt that it wasn't worth it for the air conditioning.
I was just not very pleased with the amount of money that was being offered to replace it. But they were very prompt in getting somebody out here and looking at it. The girl that I dealt with on the phone to handle the call was fine too. And they were good because I was in one location and the residence was in another state. They were very responsive in that way too. And Air Link was exceptional as well. They have rated very high marks from me because we had replaced the air conditioner altogether.

American Home Shield has been pretty good about getting somebody out there pretty quickly. Refrigerators have so many computer parts. The refrigerator that went out took a little bit longer but once it got up and running, we were great. Beyer Appliance had to order a new piece and it came in within a couple of days. It was repaired in less than four or five days. He came out on a Thursday and he was back out on a Tuesday. I was pretty satisfied with the timeframe. A couple of days later, the microwave finally went out for good and it wouldn’t reset. The fuse blew in. It wasn’t the breaker. I had to have Clutch send someone else out. When the homeowners sold the house to us, American Home Shield was something that was given to us as the warranty for it. We've had it for five months now and they've really stepped up. When I made a reqest for my AC, they jumped out on the it, got things done, and got people over here. However, the people have been fiddling around and not getting it done. They have a get-out-the-door type of attitude and just hurry up. They weren't very judicious in their investigating as to what the problem was in the first place.
When Economy Air Conditioning & Heating first came, the unit wouldn't turn on and it wasn't running at all. They put a little Freon in and it ran then they went away. A few days later, it wouldn't run again, so they came out again and put some more Freon in it. It ran for a little bit then it wouldn't run again. They came back the third time and filled it up with Freon. It ran twice then it wouldn't run again. This time I called, and they came out for the fourth time and decided that the unit is no good and it was going to have to be replaced because it was leaking all the Freon out. I'm adroit when it comes to mechanical things and it looked to me that the problem was that the unit itself had leaked the Freon out. That's what I told the contractor the first time he came but he thought it was something else.
They just kept on patching, patching and patching until he gave up. It's getting summertime here and I sure would like to have some air conditioning. The warranty outfit has been good, but the unit that's out there is a nice, top-of-the-line unit. It's for a big house, so I want to make sure they replace it with the same unit out there that's comparable or at least the same manufacturer.

I had an issue with the water heater and I submitted a claim with AHS. The process was easy and the next day, In Control Plumbing came out. But it took long to do the installation of the replacement water heater because they didn’t know that the equipment was already in the warehouse. And I had to call them to let them know. Aside from that, I don't like that we have to pay AHS $100 for every single thing. For example, if I have two issues in my household and I call for these two issues, they'd tell me they are two different things, so I have to have two claims and they'd charge me $200.
I also don’t like the fact that they don't cover some costs for the job and I wasn’t aware about that. For my recent water heater claim, I had to pay $380 to make the electricity and pipes up to code, plus the $100 for the call. That was very expensive and I thought that they would remove the $100 for me, for my expenses, but they didn't do that. So, I spent $480 and it was way more than the price of the water heater. And if I bought one myself, I would pay somebody $150 to come and install it for me. But this was my third call for my water heater because it was really old, so it was okay.
The only inconvenience was that I spent four days without hot water because when the guy from In Control Plumbing came, for some reason, he touched something and the water stopped coming from my house. But when he came in, I had water. I had to call the Orange County to come and they said they didn't see anything that was wrong in their system, so it should be something inside the house. But I didn't know what he touched. I had to hire another person and paid $150 more so that he could come and let me get water to my house because normally, I'd spend two days without water. And when I got that person, it was six days that we had no water in the house.
So, it was very hard having no water in my house and I was not satisfied with In Control Plumbing because he kept telling me that maybe we touched something. But I don't know anything about plumbing. My son is a person in the medical field and he doesn't know anything about plumbing. After we found out we had no water, I called him and he was arguing with me, saying that he didn’t touch anything. He then told me to go to their site, to see if we could open the other entrance of the water. But we didn't even know how to do that because we never knew that there was a second entrance of water in the house.
Also, nobody came to my house to touch anything and he was the only plumber that touched anything in my house. He also said that he could not come to check it out. So after two days, even though at the time it was difficult to find somebody, I got somebody who came. And it was not a plumbing guy. It was the handyman. He checked and did whatever he could so that water could come into my house. Otherwise, I would stay six days without water.
And the guy who came had to go to where the guy from In Control Plumbing said that the water could come into the house. He doesn't do plumbing and he didn't want to touch anything. But I forced him to do something for me, just to change the valve because the valve was stuck. He didn't know how to unstuck it and it was very hard. He used his tools and put another thing temporary just to let water come into my house. But the thing is still leaking until now and so far, I haven't gotten any plumber to come do anything about that. And when the guy from In Control Plumbing came back to change the water heater for me, I asked if he could fix it for me and he told me I had to pay $175 for him to do that. Other than that, I'm happy with American Home Shield because at the time that I needed the service, I had somebody to come fix the water heater for me.

When my washer went out, it was not fixable, so we had to get another washer. AHS set the appointment. I was on the contractor's time on how long it would take them to look at it, which was about a week. Then it was also a week to get the washing machine, which was kind of inconvenient. The delivery company that AHS used told me the delivery would be on a Monday and I waited around all day, but they never showed up.
The first one AHS sent was Sears. The schedule was from 8:00 to 12:00, but at 11:15, I got a message saying that they were not coming, which I wasn’t really happy about. I then got on the phone and called AHS. They found Buckley who came out within two hours. He was pretty good. About five months ago, we also had a water heater fixed. It was late, but it was just a matter of waiting. For me, it was not a big deal.

When we were having an issue with our dishwasher, it had an error message that said one of the drains was clogged. I tried to work on it myself and I couldn’t find any clog so I decided to call it in. Submitting the claim was relatively quick and simple. They can improve the cost of the service calls though. I'd tell others to shop around and make sure that you’re getting the best deal.

The first person Sears sent out was nice and very professional, but he was a chatty patty and misdiagnosed my icebox. I’ve had Sears come out for my other appliances and I’ve never had a problem before. I asked to have somebody else come out and had to wait an additional week. That contractor was fine though. Then on my dryer or my washer, I was charged a little bit more compared to the last couple of times I’ve had AHS come out and I’m not sure why. It was at a 100 like it used to be.

The tech from Jones Family Appliance Repair came out the first time and diagnosed it being the pump on the washer that was bad, so he replaced it. But that didn't fix the problem so he had to order a control panel, and that took a week or so to come in. He came back out, fixed that, and so far, so good. We were disappointed he had to make two trips, but that’s the way it goes. But as far as his response time and the time that he was here, he did a great job. He couldn't have done any better.
I have been disappointed a couple of times when I had a high-end appliance and it was time to replace it, they gave me junk and I have to pay the difference. But otherwise, the process has always been good. Everything else has been good. With the air conditioning and everything else, they work fine. But when I had a well issue, I had to hire somebody and pay for it because it has been out twice. I was totally without water and it took Home Shield a week to even come back and tell me they didn't have anybody. That was very disappointing. But I learned the hard way, so I just go out and hire somebody to do it. If they will cover everything else, then so be it.

Home Shield's rep was very knowledgeable of me being new to all this because this is my first home that I’ve purchased. So, they gave me some insight regarding what to expect and what it covered if I need to do any future claims. Everybody has been very nice and professional and understanding regarding me not knowing of everything, what to expect. They took their time in explaining stuff and how the process works. They kept me in the loop, and the tech did as well. When he was on his way, he told me, “Hey, I’ll be there in a hour.” He texted me and let me know. Dan’s Pro-Lock changed in my lock. It was cool. The tech was quick. He even left me some extra plates to put on my door here. He only had to change one lock, so he was in and out.

There were several issues with our dishwasher. We had what we thought was a leak and we had Mr. Appliance of Plano out initially for that. The tech thought he fixed the leak and he did that, but it was still leaking. He came back and replaced all of the tubing and all of the stuff in there. So, we were good to go, everything was working. And then two days later, we had another problem where the water wasn't draining out. We didn't have a leak anymore, but now the water was being retained at the bottom of the dishwasher. So, the tech came out and I liked it. He diagnosed the problem and that was fine as well.
Mr. Appliance is very good. They are professional, timely, and that's why I've always asked for them if I could. Because several months ago, we had another appliance company come out and I never saw or talked to him. I missed him. And then, they never called back. It took about a week or two of Home Shield calling them but they never responded. So I said, "Could you please maybe direct it to Mr. Appliance? They're already on your roster of people you use. They've been really good."
Then, about two days after that, we had another problem where the spring to the door broke. It's a very heavy door so when you would open it, it would fall and hit you on the knees. I put in another claim because I felt it was different. It wasn't related to what had been done. The spring had broken. This is an older dishwasher, so that's to be expected. Mr. Appliance came out and replaced that.
We have two AC units, and I thought that the policy I had at that time would cover the one unit whose motor burned out. American Home Shield said, "No, your policy does not cover that." So we ended up having to pay for a new unit. Then I went back to them and I said, "Well look, it says -- and I figure if I've got a policy, then I don't have to do anything." The rep said, "Well, no. The nature of your policy was that you should have been washing it every other month, rinsing out the grains and stuff."
I said, "Well, I thought since I have a policy, I don't have to do that." And she said, "Well, this policy, you do." And so, I said, "Oh, okay. So that means there's a policy where I don't have to, right?" She said yes. I said, "Well, how much more is that policy than what I'm paying right now?" And it was something ridiculous. It was about 10 bucks. "Okay. Well, switch me over to that." Since then, that's what it is, and that's what I tell people because pretty much everyone I talked to has had a bad experience with American Home Shield and they no longer use them. I can understand where they're coming from.
So far, to me, it has been a function of making sure you have the good policy and following through. The initial dealings with their support as far as scheduling and if there's issue with the scheduling and problems like that, that is outsourced. So, for a lot of these poor people, English is their second language, so it can be frustrating to deal with them. It can be frustrating to get them on the phone, to begin with. But once that's generally all squared away, it has worked out well for us.
Make sure that you got a policy that covers all the stuff that you want and be prepared that there is going be some time when you would have to wait. We've had appliances replaced and that is a process you have to go through. For example, we had our washing replaced and that was a situation where usually it would take Home Shield at least a couple of weeks for them to replace that and if you go with one of their recommended choices. Now, in our situation, my wife just bought what she wanted, and then they gave us money towards that so we got a very nice washing machine for only about 200 bucks out of our pocket.

Home Shield had said they would get in contact with the contractor, and Trinity Heating and Air Conditioning contacted me. Their service and quality of work were good. The AC has been working, so that’s good.
Home Shield needs to review the contractors they have doing the work for them. Some of their contractors are not responsive as some other contractors are. Some of them call and tell me they're gonna have something done, and then they don’t do it. Since I’ve been down here in the Alabama area, that’s happened because we don’t have contractors near my hometown so they have to come from another town. And sometimes I feel like they don’t think it’s worth their while to come here when they could do it locally and not have to drive a good distance to come do it. It may take a long time to get them dispatched. They may be coming from about 60 miles away, which is probably not good, but that’s what Home Shield does.

I always had American Home Shield for the last 10 years, either by seller, by me buying something for the buyer or me buying it myself, and I never had to use it. This is the first time that I actually had to use it and I was very pleased. Kemph Heating & AC came out for our AC unit. They ordered the part and then fixed it. It worked for one day but then something went wrong the next day. They were out the next day and fixed it again, it was just something minor and got it going. Right now we got our heater going, then we switched it to AC which was working too. The contractor was always so good and very polite.

And then, I got a text from someone saying that it was in the queue and they'd be out here on Monday. A&A Heating and Cooling came out, and they were a little late. My wife was here and she said the issue was fixed. It was some sort of a loose wire and it was an easy fix. Our experience was pretty good. I thought it was the thermostat, so I put a new thermostat on. And when that didn't work, I realized it was something else inside the system. He did that and about an hour and a half later, he came back with the water heater, took the old one out, put the new one in, and got everything going.
We bought this house a little over a year ago, and the appliances were as old as the house, 13 years. Then these people came out, ordered small parts, came back, and put it in. Then the refrigerator started making ice. We were with Sears the previous year and had the same problem with them. A couple of weekends ago, the weather was kinda high in the low 80s. We turned our air conditioner on and it wasn’t getting cool. I figured it was broken or something needed to be fixed on it. I went ahead and put in a claim with Home Shield to get someone to come out, look at it, and make sure that all was well with it. I called and the rep was very helpful and knowledgeable. She worked around the times that I could be available since I was working from home and had meetings scheduled. The scheduling was very flexible. She mentioned that I would receive a text message or an email with the information of the company that was assigned to it.
After the call, I received both a text message and an email. I waited a couple of hours and didn’t hear from the company. I called but didn’t get a response. Then, I texted and then the guy ended up calling back and confirming the appointment. I called on a Monday and the contractor was out that Thursday. The tech from Interior Weather was excellent. Once we confirmed the appointment, he arrived at the location, called to make sure he was at the correct location, and informed me that he would not be entering the home at any time. The AC unit was on the outside, so he didn’t have to.
When he came to the door, he had on his gloves and his mask. He stood the appropriate distance away and explained what he would be doing. He answered all of my questions about what he would be doing and the follow-up behind it. He said the unit was low on Freon and he filled that up. After the service, he came back. He informed me what he had done and answered the questions that I had about how long the Freon should last and how often it should be replaced. Also, he informed me that his service was under warranty and the charges that would be assessed.
We made the payment transaction and that was it. He said to feel free to give him a return call if there were any issues or if we didn’t feel like the air is as cool as it should be. He would come back out and reassess it. The unit has been perfect since and I was very satisfied. I was recommended by a friend to get American Home Shield and this was my first time processing a claim. Everything was fixed pretty quickly so I was very impressed.

AHS is good and their response time is excellent. They use relatively local contractors. Buckner plumbing company came for the ruptured sewage line, and C&R Plumbing & Air Conditioning came out for the air condition and they’re the ones who found the sewage line break. That just goes to show they work to get the job and that they were professional and accommodating. Getting AHS was the best decision I ever made because they were there when I needed them. Recently, we had a breaker that needed to be replaced so we submitted a claim to AHS for it. The entire experience was two days, from the time we called American Home Shield to the time the contractors came out. It was pretty quick. We've had AHS going on a year and that was the second time we've used them. We called them once before, July of last year, with an AC issue. The contractor came out and took care of the issue. So, our overall experience has been pretty good with AHS.
However, part of the AC service that they provide does not include maintenance. And for instance, the coils needed to be removed and cleaned, which is something that I don’t think I can do, and it's something that’s not covered under the warranty, so we have to call someone else out to do it. So, it's misleading that you have an AC service that does not provide that service. But AHS is a value to have because of the couple of issues that we had was definitely worth the amount of money that we paid monthly to cover those services that were provided.

I've had American Home Shield for 18 years and I call them when I put a claim in. Somebody calls me back from the company that they're sending out and we make an appointment. Then they come and it's all good. In all the years that I've had American Home Shield and the times that I've had contractors come out, there wasn’t any fault on Home Shield’s part. American Home Shield selects who they're gonna send, give you the name and the number and tell you that the person will call within 24 hours to set up an appointment, and that is all fine.
We did run into some confusion with some of the providers but it was not actually anybody’s fault. Some of the places that have been called don’t work on manufactured homes. I had a claim with an air conditioning unit a couple of years ago and my air conditioner is no different than anybody else’s air conditioner. We have a ranch house that’s on the ground too. There are no ladders and there is no climbing required. But the guy they sent out took one look, said they do not work on manufactured homes and left. So I called American Shield back and they did manage to provide me with a company that does work on manufactured homes. I guess in order to work on manufactured homes, vendors have to carry an additional business license.
Otherwise, American Home Shield has done a spectacular job for me. Our air conditioner is getting old and everything breaks. Then since 2017, we've been battling lung cancer with my husband and we want to have him in an environment that’s stable as far as temperature goes. Radical ups and downs creates problems for him. I have told American Home Shield those and they have done their best to facilitate everything that we have needed.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We would call Home Shield and let them know if there was a problem. Whenever there was, they provided the contractor our information pretty quickly and typically, the contractors would contact us in a timely manner. Most recently, I had a claim for our AC and Fast Response lived up to their name. In addition to that, they came out and identified the problem on the first visit and they had a part which was needed to repair our unit. We were pleased about that as well. And the service rep was very professional, very cordial, and explained to us what the issue was.

AHS is very responsive and prompt. Their benefits were a little better than the company I was with for over 10 years. And their contractors are professional, polite, and clean. One of my garage opener chains was too old and worn out. When it went bad, the contractor came over, replaced it and got it up and going again. He also cleaned up after he finished the job. It was an excellent experience.

We've had American Home Shield since February of 2013 when we had our house. It has been seven years and overall, it’s been good. For the most part, they’ve never had to come out of pocket as an insurance company because we haven't had any crazy damage to my home to the point where if it didn't work out my way or I didn't feel like they were beneficial, then I would become really pissed off with them. The majority of the time, we just paid whatever the service fee was for the technician to come out. I could’ve called the service workers or electricians myself, but the people from the company that they recommended, they’ve all done a nice job.
When I tried to do the last claim, I couldn't find a way to download a mobile app, so I went online. I had an answer within five options from the little drop-down menu. They automatically texted me back that said they received my claim. They also sent an email that said I'll be getting a response shortly from a local business to contact me. I did that on a Saturday then I was contacted by the business at 0900 Monday.

It's so hard to find people to fix things and I wouldn't know if a contractor is a good place. It's hard to trust them. I figured that if I joined American Home Shield, they would know the best people to call to get things fixed without people trying to play games, not sure up or not do the job correctly. I went with them and there was a time when my dryer wouldn't come on. I called AHS's 1800 number and talked to their automated system. It told me that within 24 hours their contractor would call me to set up a time to come out and fix my issue. BA Distributing LLC came and they seemed to know what they were doing. They were extremely nice and followed the rules on social distancing and not touching things. My husband who was there during the servicing said that he would really like for BA Distributing to come and fix any issues in the future. Since the tech came, things have been working fine.

Everything went great with my water heater claim. Lubbock A-1 Plumbing came in and did what they needed to do. After not having hot water for a day or so, it was awesome that they fixed it. The water heater issue has been something that has happened three or four times where it doesn't heat. AHS is addressing one issue so we've had to do three or four different claims and it's $70 every time. They should be able to take care of something as a whole rather than one little thing at a time.

A-US Air Conditioning of Dallas came out to do a complete air conditioning and heating system. Someone came out very quickly after I submitted the claim but I had a problem with the salesman who sold me the whole deal, Raul. Instead of getting my unit fixed, I had it upgraded and it was outside of American Home Shield. I was supposed to get the money back from them and the salesman tried to get my American Home Shield money plus the installation money. His boss straightened it out but I wouldn’t have any business with Raul again. I had documentation and I feel like that was the only reason that they refunded me. It was taken off the $2,300 that American Home Shield was supposed to give me because I have proof in my hand. I don’t trust Home Shield. I’ve had issues in the past and it mainly comes down to cash-out and upgrades and you get ripped off on those deals.

We were in our condo and it was hard to come up with a whole lot of money when you have something go wrong. So, it was easier to come up with $75 and have the home warranty's contractor come than it is to pay $500 or more for the repair. I don’t mind paying the $50 a month knowing that all I have to do is pick up the phone and call them and they send somebody. So, peace of mind made me decide to get this warranty. I’m very happy with American Home Shield. I even have them for my daughter in Florida and I live in Arizona. So, we're paying on three different houses. I tell people about it all the time.
It’s always very easy to submit a claim to American Home Shield. I usually do it online, and then if I need to talk to them, I call them. They’ll give a time period such as between 1:00 and 5:00 or 8:00 and 1:00 as to when to expect the contractor. Then, it gets even narrower when they call. So, I always know when they're coming. Fleshers Refrigeration did a very good service. It has been a while since they’ve been here but the first time that we had them, we had out-of-pocket money that we had to pay, and I said that I would just come by the office and pay it. They said they don’t have a physical office to go to, which was a little strange.

There’s a bit of a language barrier but other than that, everything seems good for the most part. The contractors have been very professional, nice, quick and efficient. R.E. Graves Heating & Air Conditioning came out for a heating issue. It was cold throughout the winter and we had one nice day so we turned the heat off. Then, the temperature dropped down again so we turned the heat back on, and it wouldn't work. I could hear the machine itself running though. We called American Home Shield and they got in touch with the company, which came out the next day and got the unit working. When we had an issue with our garage door, AHS set me up with A Plus Garage. The technicians were there the same day and were able to fix the issue.

The first technician sent out by American Home Shield said that the dishwasher wasn't broken. Well, blind Freddy could see that the dishwasher was broken. So AHS called and said that they'd send someone else out at their expense and it was from Sears. He said that it was bent on the left side but he didn't seem like he was terribly interested. Then AHS sent another plumber who said that the dishwasher was a mess. The side is bent and a part was broken. He said that he'd get about $1,000 worth of parts for it. It has been very frustrating. So he left. A couple of days later, I ran the dishwasher and water started gushing out of the bottom. That was when I called AHS back and they sent All Tech again. I didn't want them to come because of the first one who was rude as well, but this last one did fine.
The guy couldn't get the dishwasher out. He had to cut my brand new tile in the kitchen. I got the building engineer up here. And he and one of the workman got the dishwasher out and determined the new one would fit. So All Tech came in yesterday and installed it and then came back today and picked up the old one. It's taken over two weeks and four people traipsing in and out. I also had to wash my own dishes which was a terrible thing. It was not a good experience.
The attitude of their contractors should change. I know that they have a list of people they have to see. But they should show more interest in the person they're dealing with and not worrying about getting to the next place or getting home or just getting out. A smile would help too. But the plumber from Sears who found the broken part was very good. In fact, I called him a couple of times and asked him some questions because I trusted him.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

I had a conversation with my dad when I was buying the house and he had been a member of American Home Shield. He’d subscribed to them and said it’s one of the best things he ever did. So, I said, “Okay, dad. I’ll do that.” I've been with AHS for 12 years now. Recently, the washing machine wouldn’t wash anymore. It started making a horrific noise and just quit. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the website was very simple to use. I’ve used their website before and I haven’t had any issues with it. The process seems pretty straightforward. I was informed I’d be contacted by the company within 24 hours, and I was. The technician that came out to the house was a super nice guy. He was concerned that we didn’t have a washing machine to use. He told us he wasn’t sure what situation’s gonna turn out to be, but he would discuss it with his boss and they would do whatever was best.
When I had to call the appliance repair company, they determined that it was not going to be cost-effective to repair my machine, ‘cause it needed bearings, inner and outer tub. So, their recommendation to American Home Shield was that it be replaced. I found out from the appliance company well before I heard from American Home Shield. I did not hear from American Home Shield about it so I had to call them. And then when I called them, I was in the queue for an hour and 45 minutes. I gave up and called back the next day, and I was in their queue for a little over two hours before I spoke to someone. For the last 20 years, I’ve run call centers and that’s not acceptable. AHS needs to work on reducing their hold times.

They came out right on time on the day and the time that they said that they’d be here, and they went straight to work. They came back, let me know what they found and they were able to fix it. It was very fast. They were here for about 30 minutes.
When I submitted my claim to AHS, I had called and then used the automated service. It said I would get a call within 24 hours and that the company would schedule appointment or if I wanted to call them and schedule appointment, I was provided their phone number as well. But I just waited and they called me the very next day and asked me was I home then and what time was good for me. At the time, I was home so they came right over. They were very professional and they briefed me on what was going on. Once they got done, they briefed me again, and told me everything was good. My wife calls up to submit a claim, tells them what appliance it is and they give her a vendor to call or they send her name out to the vendor and the vendor calls her. And they usually do that all in the same day. You don’t always get to choose your repair person. Sometimes you get a list of them and you can choose. But I’ve never had a issue with them. So far the contractors have all been good. As long as they come in, are friendly, do the job and explain what they do, then that’s really all you can expect them to do. I've had AHS for least six years. I got the warranty for a sense of peace knowing that if something major breaks they will get it taken care of. My son just bought a house a year ago, and he has it. We have a few homes, one being in California and the other in Hawaii and they were offering a buy one - get a discount kind of special. So, I thought buying a warranty from them would be a good idea. However, it's challenging to speak to a rep. I have to be on hold for a while or the person whom I would speak to is definitely from a call center out of the country. When customers can speak to someone within the United States, they get better service than with speaking to a rep in the Philippines as it is hard for them to understand. It is hard for me to understand them as well. Recently though, we had a leak in the upstairs bathroom of our home one time and AHS sent Aladdin’s Plumbing to do service. During this pandemic moment, my freezer over froze and went out. So, I had to throw out some food, but I needed to get my freezer repaired. I paid the $100 deductible and Express Appliance came right out. It was a Samsung and the panel wasn’t working right in the ice maker. It had frozen up as well. I thought that when changing the panel, and we'd just check it, pull it out and push it back in and then it would make ice but it didn't. So, the guy had to come back again, but he did a really good job. American Home Shield was the best investment I had made because I knew I didn't have any use of my ice maker, the ice machine for water or ice, and my freezer was completely frozen up. I watched them take it apart and put it back together. Now, it’s like a new refrigerator. The timing was perfect ‘cause we had bought food and had to figure out where to put them. It was a lifesaver for us especially in dealing with this pandemic virus going on.
You’re always skeptical when you’re buying things you see on TV advertised. But I took a chance on American Home Shield and it worked out. I was more than satisfied and pleased. I told my son who lives in Memphis, Tennessee about them. I’m paying $80 a month and it’s like you’re buying insurance in case you need it. The $100 deductible is not unreachable. It is easy when you have an emergency to just get $100 to get a refrigerator or stove or whatever fixed. It’s well worth it.
I’ve had the experience where I’ve had a warranty on a washing machine. It was a Samsung washer/dryer with the glass top where you could see in and all the bells and whistles. The part where you spin the clothes came off and it sounded like I had a truck when it broke in the laundry room. The contractors came out and stuff, but it still cost me $400 to get the part. They put a new part on and it worked but then it broke again. I wasn’t about to give them another $400. I almost forgot that I had American Home Shield. I called AHS and they said that I just gotta pay 100 upfront and then they'd send the tech out. It worked out perfectly. So thank you, Home Shield, for having a really reasonable policy that people can actually afford and pay the deductible as well.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We got bad service from them. They recommended one local repair outfit but that repair business wasn't able to come out quickly so we talked to Coastal. We asked if they could recommend someone else local and they did. We called that company and they were able to come and fix the problem right away. But American Shield wouldn't authorize payment because the people who did come out were not on the approval list of American Home Shield even though apparently, they had been in the past.
After everything got fixed, I talked directly with American Home Shield and they indicated that they were going to refund our $75 service charge. This was over three weeks ago and they haven't done that yet. If they would do that, that would be fine. But we were very unhappy with them. I've sent them numerous emails. They're complete liars. We built this home 10 years ago. These appliances are the original ones. And doing a lot of reading, two things happen with appliances. If you get a new appliance and they're extremely complex, they have multiple computer boards, et cetera, et cetera, if you’re gonna have a problem, typically, you had it very soon after the appliance goes into service, or depending on the appliance, over time, things start to go wrong. And for the major appliances that we have, like the heating system, cooling system, things of that nature, we’re in the ballpark of 9 to 11 years.
My mom lives with us. We converted the basement into an apartment for her. She’s 87 years old. So, not only do we have an oven, a dishwasher, a microwave, a garbage disposal, a washing machine and dryer, and a refrigerator with an icemaker, she has all of those too. When I checked out other plans, because we would have duplicates the costs were much higher than what I’m paying for American Home Shield. After narrowing the big list down to a smaller list and then doing my due diligence and finding out what other people say, do they like XYZ company or American Home Shield or this one or that one, and how quickly do they respond, the value for your money and everything else, I decided that for my purposes, American Home Shield would be the most cost effective but also would cover these other appliances and so forth.
No one ever expects to have a problem, but we’ve had a couple of them. And the thought process in my mind was, “Starting at about 10 years old, things may go wrong.” We’ve kept up with the major appliances, like the water heater. I make sure I take care of that. The air conditioning and heating has annual maintenance services, etc. but things can go wrong. So I figured, “Let me get the service. Let me see, if we do have a situation where we need a technician to come out, how they do. If it’s not up to what I think it should be and so forth, I can always cancel it.” And we’re not anywhere soft than we were before we got the service. And so far, we’ve been satisfied.
When my mom's dishwasher wouldn’t turn on, I submitted a claim online. Shortly thereafter, I got an email message stating that a contractor had been assigned and told me when the appointment was and gave me contact information if that wasn’t okay. And then, GE appliances was here at the scheduled time. They were courteous and professional. They fixed the problem within five minutes. The dishwasher was working and everything was fine.

The recent claims we had with American Home Shield were both done fairly rapidly. When the garbage disposal was messed up, the young man came in and he was here about 15 minutes and decided that it was jammed up and it needed to be replaced because it had a leak. He went to his truck and got a new one, came in, and 30 minutes later he was through. It was working, and he left. Reese Air came out and they were here and they found the problem. They put a new motor on a blower on the air conditioner and they were gone in about 30 minutes.
Usually in the summertime, it is too hot and if you have a problem with your AC, AHS has a limited number of people that are in the contract. It takes a while to do something. Years back, they replaced the condensing unit and a compressor and for whatever reason, it went to Yuma, Arizona instead of to Imperial, California which is where my granddaughter is living. It took us about two weeks for the air conditioning man and to fight with American Home Shield but I still kept the contract.

Please investigate American Home Shield. We have been customers for 30+ years of AHS. Over the years every time we needed a repair completed that was covered by our policy, we would need to beg and beg to have the work done usually taking a month to get repaired. But this last time was the last straw. Our refrigerator gasket was torn from normal wear and tear (Refig is about 18 years old/Sub Zero). Condensation on the floor and refrigerator wont cool to below 44 degrees.
Service Person from MS Appliances came and reported to AHS gasket only cosmetically “scratched.” 2nd repair person came Ukon Appliance Repair and wrote in report to us that the gasket is “visibly and physically ripped.” But he reported to AHS cosmetic damage only. Plus he was rude and disrespectful to us as senior citizens and only put on gloves when I insisted on it because of the pandemic. I don’t even think they were clean gloves. We know the game with AHS. If it's cosmetic damage it won’t be repaired. These three companies, American Home Shield, MS Appliance Repair and Ukon Appliance repair all practice customer fraud and deception and have unethical business practices.
We do apologize for the inconvenience, and we would like to advise it was not our intent to cause such misconception. We would be more than delighted to speak with you regarding this. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The cooler kept cutting off. Water Control Plumbing came and fixed it. They were professional, although I called them a few times and sometimes, they sent the wrong guy. They told me the water line was wrong and they fixed it. At first, I had to call another subcontractor and he said there was nothing wrong with the line. Then, it was freezing and it wasn’t and I'm still having an issue with a water leak. It's been close to a year since the first time I called for this claim and it isn’t completely solved yet. But overall, Home Shield has been pretty good.

There was a time when my refrigerator wasn't cooling or freezing. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and Carolina Appliance and Furniture, their contractor, came out to replace a part. After 24 hours, the refrigerator still wasn't operating. What set them back was my refrigerator having a parts warranty on it. As such, they weren't allowed to dig further to investigate what may be going on with my refrigerator because it could void the warranty if they ran a test.
I've been with AHS for two years nice and their communication process has its ups and downs. I may have gotten a basic customer service rep who doesn't really understand some of their claims processes. That rep just knew the basics. So, I got the runaround for a whole day and the turnaround time for me to get a new refrigerator was two weeks. This was also due to the Coronavirus that was going during that time and everything came to a standstill. Some of their reps need more training on handling certain cases because they did not help me at all. It took an actual service rep from the servicing company to contact someone through American Home Shield to actually get somebody else out to my location. If it wasn't for the servicing company, nobody would have come out.

He also ended up fixing some other wiring that had to do with the fan because he had to take the fan down to get to the wires for the fire alarm. He knows that it was wrong, so he thought maybe that was the problem. He fixed the alarm and the beeping stopped for a couple of days. But it still beeps. I've had some good and bad experiences with the contractors. Some of the people are great, some of them are not. It might just be a person thing, not a company thing. But I’ve used Home Shield three times and two out of the three times, the contractors were great. I had a heating thing that Home Shield had a special that you could pay a certain amount and they contacted somebody. They come out and check your heater before the season started. The unit wasn’t working. It would turn on but it wasn’t heating. I just went online and submitted a claim.
American Plumbing, Heating & Cooling came and it seemed strange. The guy went up into my attic for a couple of minutes and that was it. Half of my system is outside. And then, a couple of months later, I went up there and realized that there was another filter that nobody knew was in there when I bought the house. The guy went through and told me my heater was fine, and I pulled up this filter that looked like it had not been changed in about 10 years and it disintegrated in the system. So, obviously, the guy didn’t check the system. But I didn’t find out until months after it happened so there was nothing I can do about it. On the other hand, I had a guy that fixed my oven and he had to come back multiple times and he was great. He gave me his card, all that kind of stuff.

The washer was okay, except for some issues because of the well and rust. Then on the first time I tried to use the dryer, it just started clanking and then at the end of the cycle, the things were still wet. We knew we had to contact American Shield and get somebody out to check the dryer out. It was right around the slowdown time ‘cause normally they would have had the parts in within a couple of days, but it was only about a week. So under these circumstances, we were very good. The individual was very efficient and very good. The dryer runs fine now. There was also a plumbing issue and we had someone come out and check that out. It was a different situation. But we've been pleased, so far. I'm grateful for having American Home Shield.

For the most part, American Home Shield has been pretty solid. My Realtor sends an update with typical things that you should do throughout the month in terms of home maintenance, which instead of being web-based, it's a calendar or a magnet that I have on my fridge. I helps me make sure I go throughout my checkpoints throughout the year to get things done. That helped and for other consumers that would be something that they could use.
The air conditioner was unseemly warm. We had to use it but it didn’t come on top. We put in a ticket and JFrank Heating & Air came out. They did a wonderful job. Amidst the COVID situation, the tech had booties on his shoes and wore a mask. He was very professional, arrived on time, diagnosed what the problem was, and resolved it. I’m very pleased. There's one situation though where it wasn’t a national or a regional company, more of a local company, that came. Their tech got the job done but our preference is to work with the brand or someone that I'm more familiar with.

I like how American Home Shield has typically gotten top-notch companies to come out and do service work in the 25 years I've been with them. Submitting claims to them over the phone has been a nightmare though as I am put on hold forever. For the two latest claims I've had, one contractor was good and one was mediocre. The mediocre contractor's first fix was not done to the standard it should have been. So, they had to come back.
AHS's customer service department lacks a lot. Over the last several years, it was an absolute nightmare getting through to somebody. There was a time when my heat went out in the dead of winter and AHS was saying that they would get somebody out to my location in about a week and a half. I told the rep that it's 35 to 40 degrees out and I couldn't sit in my home with no heat. They're supposed to authorize somebody from a different company to do the job if they can't get one of their current service providers to do the work. However, the people in customer service wouldn't do that. So, I wrote an email to the president of the company and that got some attention. I got a call from the president's secretary and she handled my issue.

Submitting the claim for my trash compactor was pretty simple. The website's user-friendliness was fairly easy. I had to contact the contractor, but he was great. Over the years, I've submitted about four claims and AHS has been very difficult to work with. When you call them, you'll be placed on hold for 30 to 60 minutes. They also don’t have a streamlined process for repairs or replacements. If a technician cannot fix the problem, they send out other technicians instead of taking the recommendation of a technician. For instance, if something needs to be replaced, AHS wants the technician to order parts in order to fix something that obviously can't be fixed. I almost canceled them a couple of times, but I have some health issues and it got put on the back burner.

I made two claims to American Home Shield which were both on my heat pump. My warranty was so new because I had just gotten it and on the first time the contractors had to come, they had to put the coolant inside of it to see if that would work. It worked for about two weeks, and then it got cold here again where I live, and then it got hot again, and then it wouldn't work anymore. So, I had put in another claim and K.S. Wilson had already called me. They've put in an order for a new heat pump, and they'll bring it when it comes in. They were very good, very nice, very prompt, very honest, and quick with what they let me know and when they come in. They did great. Submitting the claim was the easiest thing I've ever done. It probably took me two minutes to file a claim online.

Either you reach out to the contractor or the contractor reaches out to you. When I put in a claim, someone was scheduled but they couldn’t come out for a week and a half. I had to call AHS and ask if they could get another contractor, and they did. It was easy to change a contractor, which was probably a 20-minute process. We’ve had American Home Shield with other houses before that we weren’t the first owner on and they saved our butts. With our house now, we’ve been here for over a year and a half. We made a claim for our AC unit and AHS gave us Bella Heat & Air for the repair. This claim went well. It was really cool to be able to pick someone that I could look up, see that it isn’t a random company and that they have a good rating.
When the tech came out, he replaced the same part as someone just replaced it last year. He said that it was installed incorrectly and that caused it to burn out again. I’ve been busy so I haven’t even been able to try to go back and ask the last company what was up. Every different company that comes out says it was the last guys so I have no idea. But I’m assuming with this claim that since that piece did burn out, it was actually that the last guys did do it wrong. But we haven’t had any issues since the repair although it's not like there’s a quality control when it’s a different company every time. Overall, it was good and it was timely so that was nice.

I called Home Shield for my AC. 3 Boys Appliance Repair came out and the young man that came was very nice. He told me what was wrong with the AC. I knew what was wrong so he was right, and then they had to replace a part. But his company is not very honest. For example, they had additional charges that they said were necessary to meet code. I used to be on city council in this little city so I know the inspectors. I called and there were things the company had on their list that had nothing to do with code requirements. We got it straightened up. But when they make unnecessary charges, it’s not right.
And then, they wanted me to pay for it before they did the work. I'm not paying anybody before they did the work. They also said they couldn’t make an appointment until I paid them. I told them that won’t happen. So, they finally decided to make the appointment. The young man came last Saturday. I’m still waiting for them to come again to finish the repair. They’re going do it tomorrow so that’s not too bad.
Home Shield needs to look into that company particularly when they all are stoked beyond what it would take to make the repair. Unless, that it had to be done because of code, and they didn’t have to remove somebody in terms of what the code is in Missouri City. So, they took a lot of things off that bill that weren’t required. Then they said, “Well, we have to do those things,” because their insurance required them to. I said, “That’s baloney. No insurance company will require them, though. I have warranty on American Home Shield, why would you worry about it?” So, I didn’t like them. I’m gonna do it to get it done and fixed, but I would never use them. When I call in with Home Shield, I will make sure I will never use their company.

I’ve used AHS three times. The first time, my oven wasn’t heating and my microwave was not working. They came out, repaired my microwave, were going to repair my oven, but they couldn’t find parts to replace it so, that’s why I was going to have to buy a new oven. The second time I called them, my dryer was making a terrible racket, so they worked on it, fixed it. And then, the third call was for the pool pump.
My pool equipment was making a terrible racket, and the water was not flowing in the pool. I really don’t know anything about my pool equipment, unfortunately. My husband always took care of it and he’s passed away so I called American Home Shield and reported it as my filter not working. But when Pinch A Penny came out, they said it was actually the pump that was bad, and they replaced some parts in the pump and it worked for a couple of hours after they left.
And then, it started making a noise again and the water wasn’t flowing so, I called them and they came back out. They said the parts that they had replaced were broken again. The tech told me he would either replace the parts or bring a new pump. But they replaced the parts and I had the same problem again, and they came out and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it and now it’s working. They said they would make a note that there were problems with the pump. If it acted up again, they would come back out. But right now, it’s working.
As far as calling AHS and getting them out here, that has not been a problem. They’ve been easy to contact and they respond immediately. I have to have one of my ovens replaced, but I haven’t done it yet because we’ve been under quarantine. I had talked to them about just I would get it replaced and then submit the bill to them and they would send me the check that they told me.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

There was a bad electrical switch in my garbage disposal and submitting the claim to American Home Shield was a very easy process. The contractor handled the issue with professionalism and everything works now.

Every time I call, American Home Shield sends somebody right out. But I have an appliance issue with my washer that the technician from Wilson's Appliance Repair couldn't fix. My washer is backflowing and he tried but he couldn't do any good because he said it's a plumber issue. He said the plumber would have to do it. The water on the refrigerator also wasn't pumping. It was just dripping like a tap. The technician thought that if he replaced a part back there, that would take care of it but it didn't. It was still doing the same thing. Then when my fiancé came home, he said it needed a filter. We called the technician up and he asked why I hadn't said anything. But he was trying. He was good. In fact, he did ask me when I got the refrigerator. I told him it was pretty much new. It was new but it needed a filter and neither one of us knew that. He probably wouldn't know this when I said it was just a year old but it was a year old from Sears and the warranty was out.
The water on the refrigerator is going really well now. But for the washer, I may have to call American Home Shield for a plumber because the appliance guy couldn't fix it. I just don't want to pay another $100 co-pay because right now, I don't have it. But when I submitted the claim over the phone before, I talked to a representative and she was very good. American Home Shield also reimbursed me $100 for another house that I had. The work costed me more but they said they were only gonna reimburse $100. I told them whatever I could get at the time was fine and the rep followed through with me. She was helpful. I recommend American Home Shield. As a matter of fact, I was gonna get my dad and my friend on it for their appliances.

I purchased my home new and I am also a first time homebuyer. Now that my warranties have expired throughout my home, I had the pleasure of speaking with Customer Service Representative Jay **. Jay was phenomenal!!! Jay broke everything down for me where I could understand the policy and I am forever grateful that he took the time. Thanks American Home-shield for having such a great employee like Jay ** working for your company!???

Just sent the plumber away. He made the decision that the repair would not be covered and gave me quote of over $1000.00. He wasn't even here 10 minutes. I had a hose bib leak. The plumber never even went under the house to see if the pressure regulator was broken, a covered part. He never checked to see if I had a pressure regulator.
We do apologize for the experience. We would like to advise that was not our intent to leave that impression. We hate that you have cancelled the contract, and will take this into consideration

I had AHS for over 5 years and their services was okay at the beginning and after few years started to get worse. I have few issues that I faced with them. First they take a long time to process a claim, so example it took them around 8 weeks to process my claim to replace my refrigerator. I had to purchase another refrigerator myself because I cannot live and my family without a refrigerator. So I winded with 2 refrigerators. The contractors that AHS send you to fix something at your house always try to sell you other services that you do not need. I cancelled my contract with AHS because I wanted them to replace my kitchen's faucet and they sent a plumber to fix it and he told me that it cannot be fixed, but if I want I purchase a $350 faucet from him right away and he can install it now.
I told him that the faucet is covered by AHS and he told me not to waste my time with them as it is not covered. I told him that I'll take my chances. He left and I called AHS and told them what the plumber told me and they told me that they have to wait for the plumber's report. I waited for 1 week and call them and they told me that they did not receive the plumbers report yet! I called them every other day for 1 month and the report did not show up. I requested a supervisor and I kept hearing the same professional canned responses and no one will help me. At the end they told me how about they send another plumber to evaluate the situation. I agreed, but no one showed up for another month, I called multiple times and they told me that they dispatched the plumber already and they even gave me the phone number for the company which I called and they told me they did not receive any request from AHS.
This game with AHS stayed for 3 months and I cannot get my main faucet for my kitchen was not working. I called them and told them that I already purchased a new faucet and I just need them to install it, and I do not want them to pay for it. Just get me a plumber and let him install it and they agreed and promised me to send a plumber to install it. The supervisor promised that and I told him if the plumber did not show this time within 1 week, I'll cancel my contract. Nobody showed up, and I called to cancel my contract, and they charged me $100 for breaking my contract even I did not use their services for around 1.5 years.
I got AHS in order for me to have peace of mind and I do not deal with many companies, and I spent at least 8 hours of my time talking over the phone with customer service without any progress. I have other friends that have AHS and they told me the same story. AHS is not doing a good job anymore. Don't waste your money on them.

The hot water stopped in my bathroom faucet. I called it in. I did the prompts first then I spoke with a live person from American Home Shield. All Valley Plumbing was sent out. That was their first visit there and I didn’t have an issue with them. But I’m still waiting on their return because there was a second claim that was put right after that claim and it's for a different faucet. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with American Home Shield but right now, everything is looking okay.

The air wasn’t running. I turned it off ’cause it was like freezing up on the top part. The technician from Quick A/C Solutions came the next day and he got up there and it was working fine. Also, the outside handler was noisy and he might have tightened it. Now it sounded like it was doing a lot better and smoother. The guy put some Freon and he charged me $200 for that. Then I had to pay the $75 for the fee for him to come out and I thought everything was fine. Then all of a sudden, it just started making this grinding noise about 10 o’clock last night. I looked inside the handler and the fans had come off as it was spinning. As soon as it was grinding down, it just stopped. I went upstairs and turned the air off. Other than that, AHS has been very efficient. I've called several times and they’ve always come out in a very timely manner. Their website was great. I submitted the claim through the internet and they came fast.
