American Home Shield is great and we're very happy we have it. It comes in really handy for us. We've been renewing it for the last four years and we've recommended them to other people too. We have two issues going on right now. One is the sink and one is our freezer. I was notified for the sink part, but not the freezer part. My husband was. We were surprised that I was getting text messages for one service then my husband was getting messages from another, for the different service. It was the service provider who was texting us and we were wondering why they were communicating with me when my husband put in the claim for the sink. Maybe I put in a claim at one point, a few years ago, and it was that vendor that remembered who I was.
Whoever puts in the claim and the information that's provided there should be the information used so there's no disconnect or somebody doesn't miss something. You think husband and wife talk and communicate, but sometimes we just have so much going on. We could've missed something and I did miss something because I got another text. There's one service that we are waiting on some parts. I got a text and I ignored it because I thought we've already had the guy here. The text was saying our part isn't coming till May 6th, and I didn't know that. We were trying to coordinate, asking who got what, but it was not a big deal. The good news is that we are being communicated with. That's the important thing. Also, when my husband did the claim, he was pleased. Someone came out to look at the sink and the guy did a great job. They fixed it.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

I prefer doing claims online. It’s quick. However, American Home Shield is slow to process the deductible. They had Professional Appliance come out for my claim and they were good, but the $125 fee didn't go through for a couple of days. Still, I read reviews and AHS appeared to be the better one.

The oven wouldn’t turn on. The technician came in and he saw that we had a serious problem. He checked all the knobs that we were expressing to him that sometimes it won't come on. Then about half an hour later I turned it on and then we were having other problems with it. He checked out everything and said there’s nothing that we can really do so he is looking into having a replacement. AHS sent everything to us for me to choose from within the price range of the one that I had. Within a week’s time I got a new one. The people that came in were very professional. They knew what they were doing.
I like calling the claims in. have this thing where everybody's working from home. It’s kinda crazy but I like to hear a voice once in a while. I’ve been telling everybody about AHS. The only thing is they went up on me and I didn’t know they were taking out more. I started with only $50 a paycheck and I see that they’re taking out $67 and no one told me that. Other than that everything was great. Everybody worked professionally.

Claims submission has been super simple. I just go online and put in what's going on. Within 24 hours, somebody's calling me and then, 24 hours from then, they're out to repair it. When my fan stopped working, North Coast Group Electric came out. I thought the switch was maybe blown. The fan started going crazy. But it's on a remote and that’s what they had to replace. But nothing has had to be done right away like some kind of emergency case like a broken pipe that would need to be fixed right then. I'm not sure how that one works if that happens. I haven't seen anything that shows me like an emergency service on the website. But that's probably the only thing. That aside, our experience with the service has been really easy.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

My condenser for my Carrier air condition unit was making some very loud, odd noises. I went online first, and then, I made a call and placed a claim. Three days later, I had a technician. It was fairly easy. The technician, Richard, came out, did some testing and realized that the capacitor on the condenser failed and was not putting out the right voltages so he replaced it. We turned it back on and it worked. I’m in Tucson, Arizona. We were hitting 100 at that point. I was happier than a clam. I like it so much at this point that I’m going to have Crispy Air do my maintenance instead of Chas Roberts. Also, I would recommend American Home Shield because of the value, the ease of placing a claim, and their quickness to respond was exceptional.

Price Right Plumbing came out to check a faucet that was not distributing hot water. It provided water everywhere else to the house but for whatever reason, it did not for the shower. This happened last Thursday. My tenant was there at the house and she explained to me what happened. I've owned the home for 12 years and I never experienced anything like that. We haven't had any major renovation that would mess around waterlines.
When I talked to the tech he told me was there was a need to cut an access in the wall to find the line so he could see if the lines were crossed. That didn't sound right. But I'm not a professional so I told the tech that I was gonna call my husband and have him talk to the tech. My husband was really familiar with plumbing. My husband didn't think that what the tech said was the issue.
The tech was able to maneuver things having the sink water running then the shower would get hot water. How they figured that out, I'm not sure. But it still didn't address the issue. On the receipt, the tech told us that he changed out a piece. There are two mechanical pieces inside of the faucet. He changed out one and when that didn't work, he put it back together because he couldn't do the other part without access in the wall.
We drove down the house yesterday because my tenant didn't have hot water. I grabbed the paperwork yesterday. We looked at the waterline. The tech had to secure the water from the outside but he never did. I made sure I took pictures of it. It was like buried. It looks like it hasn't been touched in a really long time so I knew he didn't change out any piece.
The company that AHS sent out is full of crap. My husband was over there until about 12 o'clock last night going over with what the tech claimed that he did. He was looking for the ticket. Hopefully, AHS talks to the tech and the first question they need to ask him is how he shut the water off. My husband took pictures of all the stuff when he was there. There was no way that the tech did what he said he did because if he had, water would have been everywhere because he never shut the water off. My husband knows that is so because hr had to dig the dirt out from around the water shutoff valve in order to shut the water off. When he opened up the meter box, that thing was full of dirt like it was never touched.
The tech was also claiming that he changed out a cartridge and put it in. But it didn't work. The tech told me that a plumber needed to come out because the lines were crossed. But this house has been occupied for years and the lines didn't just get crossed. My husband shut the water off and opened it up. It was a simple valve replacement. The mix valve was bad in it.
My husband took pictures of the mix valve because when he took it out, he could see that it is plastic and it has a spring. The plastic broke and the screen had lodged itself in the line. My husband replaced the mix valve and did a replacement. That seemed to work like a charm. It was not an issue at all. It took my husband longer to find out where to shut the water off than it did to actually fix the problem. With that home, the shutoff valve is in the street and not next to the home. Most water shutoffs are located inside the home or right outside of the home.
It seems the tech did not take the time to properly troubleshoot. He probably got frustrated and was like, "I don't know where the valve is. I can't shut the water off." If he had opened that thing up, water would have been everywhere because he had no way to shut the water off. That thing would have probably come off and hit him in the face because that thing is under pressure. The only thing that he did was probably take off the safety cover then move the temperature adjuster trying to see if he could adjust the temperature. After which he was like, "Oh, well, I replaced it." He did not do what was on the paper. We don't ever need to use him again. He doesn't know enough.
I had American Home Shield for about four years then I stopped using it because the house was unoccupied. I started it back up in January of this year. With AHS, you pay the deductible before a contractor even comes out. I have a home in Maryland too and AHS sent out All Clear for a claim I made. The experience for that claim was the total opposite of Price Right Plumbing. The All Clear tech was there for 20 minutes and figured out what was wrong. He fixed it and went on about his business.

I had a leak in my master bedroom closet. The guys came out and did a bisection of the area but they did it neatly. They're probably one of the best plumbing teams that ever came my house before. If I could give them 20 stars, I would.
AHS has certain people that can do certain things. The plumber can do plumbing but they can't do sheetrock. They probably could but they don't do that. The guy who came back to do the repair did it excellent but he didn't paint it. I gotta go ahead and get it painted out of my expense. AHS doesn't offer end-to-end service. It's not a one-stop shop. Also, It would be better if they could let us know what needs to be done in advance instead of piecemealing. They could say, "You did plumbing but you might have to get some remodeling done." That way, we would know what we're getting into. Some people can't wait to that time. They wanna go ahead and get their stuff done quickly. Other than those, AHS does good. I deal with them alone because if they can't fix it, they'll replace it.

I purchased my home a year ago and I just renewed my policy with AHS. In the past, when I've purchased homes, I always request that the seller provide AHS warranty and I'll definitely use it this year for this home so I renewed. The repairmen provided really good service and identified the issue and fixed it. And they arrived on time, they complied with COVID-19 guidelines.
I also had AHS I have had them come out twice for my water heater. Both different plumbers have said that it's on its last legs. The last plumber said it really needs to be replaced but AHS won't replace it until it completely dies, which to me, that makes no sense because it's just going to cause more damage. Other than that, everybody has always been very professional, and they've always been quick to get somebody out here. And if I come across somebody that can't make it for a long time, they're quick to find somebody else. They've been very attentive to all of that.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I've had no difficulty submitting my claims to AHS. Everything is seamless and everyone has been very courteous. Wind Bender previously came by and noticed that our kitchen faucet was old and needed to be replaced. There was also something was leaking in the basement. They were very courteous, quick, and took care of everything. It was perfect. I've had about two other claims in the past and got the locks changed. My experience has been the same for both of them. If other homeowners are considering a warranty, I would definitely recommend AHS based on my experience.

Integrity Air Conditioning did a very good job, so we’re back in a habitable home now. It was 85 degrees. But the only thing, and that’s not their fault, it took almost two weeks to get the coil from Trane. I don’t know where they shipped it from. We got through it all right, but it was not fun. Integrity Air were very professional, though. They identified the problem right away, which my regular service did not. They identified something entirely different. I've used American Home Shield once or twice and it’s fine. Submitting a claim was very simple. They send the people in right away, and I have no problems with that. They could reduce the rate a little bit, though.

Aqua Clear had excellent professionalism. Their tech showed up on time and he was a good communicator. As soon as he looked at the garbage disposal, he said that it was too old. He explained that it was not fixable and there was nothing he could do about it. He was great. I don't always figure everything out and I kinda need that little guidance when it comes to things. I had a lot of questions and he was absolutely terrific and very patient.
Also, I had a faucet that broke and he looked at it. He said he could get another faucet for about $150. He offered to run out to Lowe's and get it. I explained that I was hoping to update my kitchen a little bit and offered to pick the faucet. I asked if I could pay the difference and get what I really wanted and he let me do that. That was so nice. He went way over and above with normal to make sure that I was happy. And that means that I’m happier with American Home Shield, which means they keep my business. It was probably the best experience I have had in a situation like that in years
I’m happy with AHS, although it's a lot of money every month. I love the fact that if you got three plumbing issues, you don't have to pay $75 three times. I’ve kinda been sitting on the garbage disposal, the faucet, and the hot water heater issues and it was nice to be able to knock out those three things at one time. That was really a blessing and that kind of renewed my faith or my love for American Home Shield.

Everything’s working great and I’m very happy. I would recommend him the tech to anybody. However, it’s getting a little expensive with AHS. I’ve been thinking about canceling. I gotta pay 50 bucks a month and I’ve had them out to my house twice in two years. I don’t know if it’s worth it for me to have it. Whenever we need service, AHS is good. They make arrangements and come. Whenever they have to refer me to someone, it has been easy. But whenever they have to come up with a replacement part, it takes forever. We've had two instances in which the appliances were old. The oven was one and then, we had a cooktop. When they don’t have the parts, it takes forever. We called and they forgot the date. It also seemed like we had to tell the story from zero to the last conversation to everyone. Nobody knew what the other guy was doing. But otherwise, it has been okay. My Tech was good. They installed the oven and it has been working fine.
Every time that we have air conditioning issues, which seems to be every year, we think that we get ripped off by the people AHS sends us. They have to charge us for replacing the Freon every time and we always pay 400 bucks. I talked to an expert in air conditioning and I was told that they don't need to replace the Freon. They could save and reuse it. I realized that we get taken every time and I’m upset. I am not 100 percent satisfied, but I would recommend AHS. For a homeowner, this type of insurance is necessary because at least, you have a known amount of money that you pay and you would not be hit with surprise bills.

Never owning a home before, we know a homeowner's rule is things are going to break. Things are going to go wrong. So, we wanted to make sure that at least we had a bit of coverage in that regard. Our kitchen sink was leaking. I couldn’t figure out from where. It was flooding under the sink pretty bad. It turned it was coming from the extension hose, like when you pulled the nozzle out if you need a little extra slack, and it was just running right down into there. J & A Plumbing and Rooter's tech tried to find the replacement tube that connects the faucet to the line, but he was unable to, and then he had to replace the whole faucet.
The contractor arrived promptly both times because the first time, that’s because, as it was explained to me, even though the tech had a faucet on the truck where he could have replaced it that first time, they had to try and replace the part before they replaced the faucet. So, on both instances, communication was great and the turnaround time was good. Everything was perfect. I've been happy with the coverage and the service. If you are looking for a home insurance plan, Home Shield is one company you should look at.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

My hot water tank wasn't producing hot water. Doing claims with American Home Shield is relatively easy, but that one was a little bit of a challenge. I didn't discover until Friday evening that the water was out. AHS issued a repair person. They said, "You know, they'll be getting in contact with you or you can contact them." I looked and it was for me to contact them. It was Friday at 4:00 and their office is from Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. So, I wanted someone else who is open on the weekend.
I had to just call and say, "Can you reassign me someone else that's at least open on Saturday so I can get the faucets going?" They initially assigned me to someone else. So, I had to call back and luckily, it was open on Saturdays. On Saturday, Rockland came right over. They needed a part which had to be ordered. They couldn't order it until Monday. They said, "As soon as it comes in, just call, and we'll make you a priority." It came Tuesday early in the morning, and they put it in Tuesday in the afternoon.
I like American Home Shield. The house I had before this house, I rehabbed it from top to bottom. Both of my neighbors had American Home Shield, and they said I need to get it. I was like, " Ain't nothing broken here. Everything is brand new." That was my old house. I ended up selling the house, and I moved to where I am now. This house has two furnaces. It has two ACs, the hot water tank, and a stove. It's gotta be about 15 years old, but it's considered a high-end stove. The refrigerator is kinda high-end. It was like $10,000 brand new but it's gotta be about 16 years old. So, I don't wanna replace all these things, but I'm scared that they may go out. I said, "Let me go ahead and try this service."
I see the value in it now because I don't know the history of this house in terms of the mechanicals or the furnaces. I like the convenience of having AHS. The people they send out are pretty good. I've recommended it to a friend who is an older fella and kinda like me who doesn't wanna be bothered with trying to call different repair people that no one wants to look up and you gotta pay 5 to $600. I just like to pay my $40 something a month with AHS.

Emerald Appliance came out for our dishwasher and our oven back in February and they were very good. The dishwasher has been an ongoing thing, though everyone tells me that it is in very good shape. It's doing what it's supposed to, with the exception of some soap crystals still being on there. I'm the opposite of handy and I can only go off of what everyone else tells me. But of the different vendors who have been out to our house, Emerald had the most thorough follow up, which I was impressed with. The tech called me back a couple of times and asked about the appliances. And he even emailed me some of the very low-level basic maintenance that we could do with the dishwasher because that's been the problem unit. I thought that was very nice of them.
Home Shield is doing what they are supposed to be. We were hoping for our dishwasher to be replaced because it has caused so many problems. But I can understand them not wanting to put that kind of expense when we've only been a customer for a short time. They have approved the parts going out and stuff. Also, the website is easy to use but it's too basic for my preferences. I would like to see a little bit more status updates on there. I'm a very web kind of person and I love to be able to see what's going on. We've had to call people out like three or four times and they tell me what they were gonna do, however, it all has to be approved by American Home Shield who's administrating the program. Usually, there's some time involved before the representative can come back out to work on the appliance because of approval obtained. And it would be very nice to see that kind of status on their website.

Hospitality Heating and Air did well. It’s just they had to come out three times. They found a board outside that was shorted out, so the technician replaced that board. Everything worked well. And then, the next time he came, he said, “there was a board inside that was shorting out the outside board,” so he replaced the inside board. And it went fine for about three days. And then, it stopped ticking in. I called them back and they sent somebody else out to put a new set of eyes on it. And it seemed that a fuse that was on the brand new board that they put on the upstairs went out. So, he had to replace a fuse. All he could figure was that the fuse that came from the factory was weak. He replaced the fuse and it’s been working fine. They didn't charge me the second and third time. So, that was good. That’s what they were supposed to do ‘cause it’s less than 30 days. That’s the agreement. We’re happy so far.
AHS also covered my ice maker. And then, it broke down twice. And they changed the contract and said, “We’re not covering your ice maker anymore, but we’re gonna keep charging the same price.” I think they went up on the price this time, maybe because I had too many things. But, we still keep it. We just pay up whatever they ask.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

I’ve been told that there is one other company that I could try that replaces with the same quality that they take out. I am kind of weighing that, going forward.

I love American Home Shield. I called the AC in when it wasn’t getting that cold. I talked to a live person and she was good. They sent World Class the order and they are the best. James came out and he is so sweet and nice. I love him. I told him when I get my new air condition put in, I want them to put it in. He always comes. Every time he came out here, did something and left, it worked good.

I had a claim for the AC unit and they charged for Freon for it. As soon as they put Freon in it, the AC was pretty much immediately cool. But about five days later, the AC unit no longer cooled. So I went online and started another service request for a follow up. I got an email on that second request saying that the company will reach out to me. I didn’t hear from them for about two days. I signed back in to AHS portal and it said that I have to call the AC repair company. So I called them, left a voicemail, and they called me later that night. They’re supposed to reach out to my tenant to go back on site to figure out what’s going on.
The AHS system automatically emailed me saying that I would get a call from the AC repair company. But it seems like their system was not accurate. I waited for a couple of days. I thought they would’ve reached out to my tenant, but they never did. It would be nice if AHS have their engineers look at how that system works. I talked to the repair company over the phone and it seemed like the tech knew what he was talking about. My concern is I paid almost $300 for the Freon. If there was a leak already, should I have paid that the first time? Should they have fixed it first, and then they fill it up with Freon? I don’t know where that lies. In my mind, if there is a leak and they fix the leak, they would still have to fill it up with Freon. So I’m gonna assume that I’d still have to pay for it. On a side note, this same unit had an issue in late 2018 and I had to get AHS involved, and they fixed it. It’s been working for about a year.
I understand how the process works. But being the landlord, I never get any information on what was done unless I had to request a work order from them. It would be really nice if there was a way that AHS can get the work order and have it uploaded to their website so I could see what had happened. Also, their auto attendant for the phone call if you’re calling to the main number needs to be redone. It takes a while to get somebody throughout the prompts. It would be nice if they had somebody who would answer it like an operator. Because sometimes these prompts don’t make sense for me.
I called the day before yesterday about three or four times and every time I went through the prompts, I would get disconnected after a few rings. So I got pretty frustrated after that because I couldn’t get ahold of anybody. I tried to find a chat feature or some other way of emailing support, but I didn’t see anything there. So I had no other way of reaching out unless I would call every hour and hope that I’d eventually get in.

While I've been making masks for first responders and my husband was watching TV, he asked if my iron was making noise and I said no. So, we started searching for the noise. We realized that it was coming from the outside and that the AC unit was making a screeching sound. I was in Las Vegas and it was two days before the triple-digit weather hit, so I put in a request for a service with AHS. I needed to get it fixed before it was 100 degrees and we were stuck in the house with five kids. Nothing is worse than five kids and hot in the house.
I put the request in on Sunday and the tech from A & R Complete Service was here by Tuesday. He said that he needed to take a quick look, then he said that we were gonna be so happy. He said that the problem was gonna be so simple and that the bearings just needed some grease. Then it worked and the house cooled off. He was so nice and very polite, too. And he had a mask on, which was important because I have an autoimmune disease and I have a lung condition due to my combat service when I was in the military. Aside from that, his mask wasn’t one of those flimsy one layer t-shirt ones, it was like one with the filter and he said that their company was taking really good care of its employees, which was good to know. This was also the best experience I've had with American Home Shield and I was happy that it was something very small.
A while back, I had issues when we had to get our dishwasher fixed. Whoever AHS used the first time said that it had to be replaced. Then I told them that it should be covered by the home insurance and it took that other company three weeks. I finally complained to AHS and they had somebody else come out. The new contractors said that the dishwasher didn’t need to be replaced. They said that it was one of those really good dishwashers and you can't find it anymore. They also said they just needed to have this one part fixed and it worked. Then, I sent AHS an email telling them not to use that first company anymore and that they were horrible. They just didn't wanna do their work. Other than that, I recommend AHS to everybody. I have them on my house that I currently live in and on our rental house that we rent out.

But it took somebody weeks before they could come in. I lost a lot of stuff in the freezer because they all got defrosted overnight. The refrigerator wasn’t working at the same time. Luckily we had another refrigerator in the garage that we have to put the stuff in. AHS said they have 24/7 service, but it was not 24/7. They would just give me a settlement. They sent an email that I was able to pick from some various machines that they had. If I did not like that specific machine or the cubic feet or anything like that, they would give me a comparable price. The claims that I’m interested in are the two that have not been dealt with. Weatherwise did their job, and I filled out the form and sent it back to American Home Shield. It’s the refrigerator and the toilet that haven’t been taken care of. The refrigerator has no ice, no water, and all the temperature gauges are not working. I paid $75 twice to have somebody come out. It’s 150 bucks right there. The tech came out and fixed the icemaker because it wasn’t working. And then two weeks later, it stopped working and the water stopped running. And when you open the refrigerator door that shows you all the temperatures that should be in the freezer and the cooler, they’re not lighting up. It’s a $3,000 refrigerator. I haven’t heard anything about it.
The plumber came two weeks ago. They haven’t got back with me. They need to replace the toilet. I had to repair it five times now. 75 x 5 is a new toilet. Because I kept getting the toilet fixed for $75, I said, “No, no, no. 75 x 2 is $150. That’s a new toilet.” So, the contractor finally gave me a new one in my bathroom a couple years ago. But the hallway guest bathroom, two weeks ago was their fifth time. And the tech said, “Well, we can’t get this color.” I said, “Oh, if I was a millionaire, you can get this color.” It’s a beigey pink. I said, “The toilet needs to be replaced. You guys coming and fixing it, and fixing it, and fixing it. It’s not working.”
I even asked for a senior person for the plumbing company. I said, “Do not send Allied Plumbing.” And the guy said, “Well, there were several complaints against them.” That’s no surprise because they came to fix my toilet five times. So, they gave me a new plumbing company, but I wasn't home. Nobody ever calls me when I’m home. So, they sent a senior guy and I explained the situation. He said they would get back with me, but they haven’t.

I have had American Home Shield since the past 15 years. We live in a two level home and have central air conditioning. The air conditioning on the first level was not working so we reported to American home shield on April 24, 2020. The technician only came in on April 29. He inspected the air conditioner and then went up in the attic to check the exhaust fan. The technician told that he needs permission from the insurance company to change the wire & he will let the insurance company know.
On May 01, 2020 I get a voicemail from your company that the technician told them they have no access and that is indicated in the item 5 (a) of the contract. Whereas in item # 3 it states that all wiring is covered and the technician had the fill access. I called American Home Shield and let them know that the technician did not state to us that he has no access.
We are senior citizens & are badly inconvenienced in this hot weather. We pay them $47.99 plus $75 /visit. The customer service lady told us that American home shield will not cover the repair and we have to call the repair company and deal directly with them. Why do we need American Home Shield if we have to deal with the contractor ourselves? If I do not get an answer & quick service to repair this complaint, I will be left with only choice to go to my attorney & seek legal help. I am sure this can be resolved amicably without further inconvenience.

I had recently purchased a Home Warranty from AHS Fall of 2019. They have failed on their end to provide any type of replacement cost or reimbursement for repairs. Yet, they still charged me four (4) separate times for their HVAC contractor's system review--which never happened. Before this, they were extremely slow to process our request--even when we expressed that this is urgent due to the fact that we have a 4 month old baby and will not be able to take him to the hospital because of COVID 19.
• January 2020: We have AHS bring out their furnace contractor to evaluate the system—he finds nothing wrong and nothing needs to be repaired or replaced.
• January 2020: I called AHS and told them that their contractor needs to come back and evaluate this system because we could have a potential problem with CO2 and the heat exchanger.
o Their contractor never comes back out.
• March 20, 2020: Our Furnace fails, which means our A/C system cannot use ‘FAN’ mode… and we are not able to Run A/C in the house.
• March 23, 2020: I go on the AHS website and schedule a contractor—noting that we do not have A/C and this needs to be fixed immediately—especially since this was not taken care of in January 2020.
• March 24, 2020: AHS assigns a contractor to fix the repairs on 03.27.20.
o We call back and say that it’s unacceptable over and over.
• March 25, 2020: AHS agrees to make this a priority and expedite—they state that they can get a contractor out to my house the next day (03.26.20) but it will be a new contractor from the original one scheduled.
• March 26, 2020: AHS contractor #2 does not show up—they have no clue about the appointment for that day 03.26.20… they said they can’t come until Friday, 03.27.20.
• March 26, 2020: AHS reluctantly agrees to allow us to use an outside vendor. We tell them it’s Keith A/C and they said that they are okay and not on their ‘black ball’ list of contractors.
• March 26, 2020: AHS verbally agrees to proceed with the new furnace installation and that we should email our invoice & work details to their AHS Orders Email address.
• March 26, 2020: Our contractor (Keith A/C) contacts AHS to confirm the materials they are using and AHS starts to balk, saying that these are too expensive and must be approved through vendor authorization group.
o AHS states to me that they have received all the documents they need and should be approving later that night so we can complete the installation on Friday 03.27.20.
o AHS Verbally agrees later that night of 03.26.20 that we are good to go on Keith completing this work with their materials.
• March 26, 2020: AHS, for some reason, charges me $100.00 Twice.
• March 27, 2020: Keith completes work and I submit the work details and invoice to AHS via email they provided.
• March 29, 2020: I receive an email stating that my checking account is getting debited AGAIN for $100.00.
• April 1, 2020: AHS Leaves me a voicemail stating that this work is now NOT approved and they will not cover it.
It's not only unfortunate that they are refusing to reimburse us it's fraudulent. We are pursuing action in small claims court, as well as reporting to various bureaus and our state's attorney general.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

Just paid for 340 worth of freon, then another call for a new switch, now needs a new compressor and 440 worth of more freon. I am canceling every warranty we carry with them and using a new company that will at least talk to you.
Original Review: I Have been with the company for over 10 years and they have always fixed what was needed to be fixed, I am a Realtor and manage over 100 rental properties and have encouraged owners to protect themselves with a warranty. I will no longer be able to do this because of the company's inability to answer the phone promptly (25 minutes on hold and counting). This is the 3rd time to send them for a repair on one property. With Home Shield, we had two techs from the same contractor and while one of them was super nice the other guy didn't wanna do anything. He said it wasn't his job to install or even unbox anything and just wanted to leave stuff at the door. All he did was run AHS down. We also had a hot water tank contractor who wanted to charge me to have my heater plumbed to the outside of our house. He said that the way it was hooked up to electricity was not up to code and he wanted to charge extra money to hook it up. I called another contractor myself and found that what he said was a lie. Still, I had to pay the first water tank contractor and AHS reimbursed me. Then, I had two electrical techs come over to make sure the installation was up to code and a licensed plumber came to install my hot water tank. I had to pay for that service out of pocket because the people that were sent by AHS were idiots.
More recently, the broiler in my stove caught fire. It was out and would not work. Plus, a knob on the bake and broil made noise constantly on its own. I would have to go to it and move it around so it would stop. That time, my refrigerator went completely out as well. It would freeze everything on one side and then everything would get warm on the refrigerator side. It was also making noise and there was water all over my floor. My washer was also beating up the walls around it as it couldn't stay balanced. It would not fling the water out of the clothes.
I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and we waited on Sears for four weeks. We got tired of Sears putting us off and called AHS back. Their other contractor, Bennett Heat Air & Electrical, Inc. went to us. They have been to us before and were super nice when they fixed our dishwasher. This time, the tech looked up all the parts needed. Techs from Bennett are nice professional people.

I’ve had AHS for a while now. It’s always easy for me to be able to go online and get the claim processed and not have to have too much delay. Recently, A-1 Quality Care came out for our AC. The guy seemed to know what he was doing. He got up there, checked it out, and he was able to tell me exactly what I assumed was going on. He verified that I was correct. The entire hose had broken off from the actual unit itself so it had to be replaced. It took a couple of hours ‘cause he still had to get the actual hose and cut it to size then install it.
I’ve seen the age that we are at this point in time, people are not having the funds, and AHS should go back to the $50 ‘cause they put up the service fee to $75. That would help a lot of people be able to get a lot of things. Cause $50, you can get two things done for [$100 03:40] versus one. I’m a cost detective. I’m always trying to save. That way, we stay happy, AHS stays in business, everybody wins.

My very first claim with Home Shield got denied. It was a garage door opener issue and it was denied based on the fact that they said there was some power surge that damaged some electrical components within the garage door opener. It was the original garage door opener that was in the house when I bought it. And I don't remember any power surge issues. I was disappointed that that was the outcome of the very first claim. Other than that, I've had two AC issues and both of them were addressed quickly. The most recent was when Grady's found an issue with the switch and the evaporator unit. They repaired it and it was a simple fix.
Submitting claims is smooth. I've called myself and they would say that the supplier would call me within 24 hours or something of the initial claim submittal. Usually, I would try to take matters into my own hands because I don't wanna wait up to 24 hours. I wanna at least get something on the schedule right away. So, in this case, I called the very next day. But I thought the process went smooth. I did it online and got something back right away from American Home Shield. Grady's has been very good to work with both times, so I've been happy with them and the AC guys.
I've got an older home so I wish there was some kind of a sliding scale for how much it costs to submit the claim. In this particular case, it was a really simple fix and I could've fixed it myself. It wasn't worth 125, which is what I had to pay to get the guy out. I wish they could start at 75 and the contractor would come out and if it turns out it's more than just a trivial fix, maybe then it would go up to 125, which is my normal value. But overall, I'm pretty happy with Home Shield. Relative to other home warranty companies, it's just as good, if not better, than anything else.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

But the technician had called me and said that he had the part. So I just need to call him and have him bring it out to me. That's on the microwave. He has fixed the washer.
But I've had three claims with American Home Shield and I cancelled it after a year. Their representatives were fine but I was not thrilled with the program because on one of the claims, it excluded 55% of the cost. It was a big difference. So I had the AC fixed by someone else. American Home Shield ended up giving me a buyout on it.

When I purchased my other house, and when I sold my other house, I was given a one-year warranty. When the old one ran out, I started calling around, getting quotes and American Home Shield seemed to be the best one. It was with my old house and I stuck with them and transferred it to our current house. I've had them for 10 years over there, and a few years here.
Recently, I was having an issue with our microwave and it had something to do with the door and the switches inside. When you close it and as soon as you hit the button, the whole thing would kick the circuit breaker. I made a request onine and it was easy. I received a text or email saying that the claim was submitted and that AA Dependable Appliance Service would be in contact with me. The lady from the company called me directly that same day and asked me questions like what was going on with the unit. I told her, then we set the appointment out for two days later. That was the earliest.
They gave me a four-hour window and the guy called me 30 minutes prior to arriving. He came in, had a mask on, and asked the same questions that they asked me on the phone when they originally called me, like if anyone has been sick in the last couple weeks or 72 hours. I had no issues with them. Since they fixed the microwave the first time, they replaced a few parts and they had to order something. He came back the second time, did it, and so far, so good. It was great.

I would go in the shower in the morning and not five minutes later, the water would turn cold. The heater would say 90 and I would turn it on and off and then jack the temperature up to 125, which is what it usually is at. I would go downstairs and wait a few minutes. I would get some hot water and I can finish showering. But my kids wouldn’t come here because they can’t even take a shower. And it drives my wife crazy.
Home Shield sent out 1st American and the tech went up there and turned my hot water up. They made adjustments and he said that was all he could do then. It didn’t show any problem. There was something on there that tells the codes and it didn’t show any code. Also, he drew water in the bathtub. It’s a three-quarter inch pipe and he didn’t even get the bottom of the bathtub covered in water. Maybe he had two inches around the drain and he said it was fine. I don't think they gave it enough time. But 1st American was absolutely wonderful. They were here on time and they were clean and courteous. Everything went as planned. Even if American Home Shield doesn’t do anything with it, I want them to come back and do my hot water heater.
After the guys left, I took a shower and it was cold when I got in there. I waited till the hot water came and darn if it didn’t turn cold. I stood aside and let the water run for about five minutes. It started to heat up again and I was able to finish my shower. The next day, my wife goes to take a shower and she said the same thing happened to her. This is my first experience with a tankless hot water heater and it isn’t worth it. I think I wanna replace it and I wanna be done with it. I’ve been dealing with it for a year and a half now. I’ve had this looked at three or four times in the last month. I also had it looked at a year ago when I first moved in. But I’m totally satisfied with American Home Shield. It’s beyond their control. They're sending another guy with a second opinion. I’m gonna tell him to fill that tub with hot water and I'll believe it’s working.

We've had Home Shield for 35 years and I'm satisfied with them. Submitting claims is normally pretty easy and the contractors they partner with have always been good. Air conditioning-wise, I've had A/C Rescue come out for four or five years. They're excellent, honest, and know what to do. I always ask for them. They're one of the top-rated contractors that American Home Shield has. Recently, the AC unit went out and I took the cash option deal. They paid some to the air conditioning company because they wouldn’t cover the whole thing and I had the whole unit replaced.

I liked the customer service aspect of it. AHS gets someone right to me like my problem’s taken care of and it works all really well. My house is about 20 years old so there have been plenty of issues so far, but everything's been good with American Home Shield. I like the ability to have a service for $75. Sometimes, people come out and check out things and it's either not covered or not something that they can handle, which is good to have the information for them rather than paying somebody a bunch of money to come out and not fix something. The contractors come and tell me what's wrong or what they can or can't do, then I kinda go forward from there and figure it out.
I had a faucet as well as a dishwasher valve that were leaking. The faucet was kind of repaired by one of my repairman at the time that I had worked with separate from American Home Shield so the contractor couldn't really work on it at that time, which was fine. The people from Home Choice Services gave me a good recommendation as to how to reach out to the manufacturer of my faucet to see if it's covered by the warranty or if they would issue a refund or send me a new one, which is all good information. When the dishwasher valve was leaking, which is a separate service call to American Home Shield, the contractor came out and fixed the dishwasher valve fine and it was good, so they were good.

I submitted one claim for the dishwasher and another one for electric. The dishwasher was a mechanic issue. The dishwasher was not drying the dishes. The guy went and checked. It was missing some parts. But he got back to AHS and AHS called me and recommended to buy a new one. The other one was electric. The electric installation on my wall was not right for my dryer. The guy was really helpful. He helped fix the stuff. He took care of the job. Both of the claims experiences were good.
Submitting the claim to AHS was stressful though. First, it was a long wait on the phone before the people answer. I had to wait 20 minutes to open a claim by phone. And whenever the first time that I called, at least the person could not answer me. It looked like she did not hear me. I don’t know if that’s the same person who did that, but it happened three times to me. I listened to that music, and whenever that person answered my call, she said, “Hello? Hello? Hello?” Then she hanged up on me. And they didn’t call back.
They should improve the phone calls and information as well. They need to be faster to answer. Another good suggestion, in other call centers, you have an option to hang up, leave your number, that the people will call you back. American Home Shield doesn’t have that so you have to be holding the phone for 20 minutes, stopping your life just on the phone till somebody hangs up on you.
Whenever AHS sends me the offer to have the appliance that I will be able to buy a new one, how is the procedure, they don’t have in their website. Whenever they update the claim there to offer what’s given to the customer, they should have the option to download or have a pdf there to explain how to work that process. I had to call three times to receive the document by e-mail. AHS can make that easier, like with an FAQ question.

If I was to have the same problem with the same item in a period of time, it wouldn't be fair for the customer to pay that deductible again. Overall, it was a pretty positive experience. Mountain Heating & Cooling came out and looked at my issue. A few weeks later, I called because I haven't heard from them. They sent a text but I don't check it that much. They came back and the tech said, "Okay, your Freon or whatever pressure's a little low. We can fill that up no problem. But you're leaking right here." He said, "This needs replaced because it's so old and it's leaking." They said they will replace a bunch of stuff and it turned out that it's so old that they couldn't get parts. So, they had to replace the whole unit.
Initially, I called American Home Shield because we were having a problem with the breaker that was switching on and off. It wasn't working right. They called Mountain Heating, and they contacted me and came out. Mountain Heating was great. I called the lady, and she got me set up. She said, "Okay, we got your stuff here. So when do you want it, we can come out tomorrow." I said, "Great, come on out." They were here the next day, and it's done. Everything works great. Everything went by smoothly. I was given American Home Shield when I bought the house four years ago, and then it was for a year and it lapsed. Then we said, "Well, we'd feel better if we had that again." So, I called and kept it on.

One of the lights in the kitchen ceiling was out and the circuit breaker kicked off the kitchen and the garage door twice. The technician replaced the circuit breaker and apparently, there was a loose wire in the kitchen light in the ceiling. The one in the same line is out so I changed the light bulb. I think it has something to do with the wiring. The technician said to call within 60 days but I don't wanna get charged for another visit. They might try to charge me since it's another light. My husband had looked at it before and it's because something gets hot, the wiring gets hot. My husband was an architect. He knew all that. Although the guy was just as nice as he could be, I think, in general with home warranty companies, it seems like they're in a hurry. Although with this guy I felt that he took a lot of time. He answered my questions about something else that I was having problems with.
Another is thing is that there were a lot of problems with the air conditioning. I had to call somebody local because the sensor in the attic quit working. It didn't show that the water level of the pan was overflowing, and it ruined my whole ceiling. I've had it checked for mold and I had to have the ceiling redone. American Home Shield had been out just a week prior to that and didn't find anything wrong. When I called them to come back, they can't because it was weekend. I had to call someone in to vacuum up the water. I was very angry about that. Since my husband has passed, I am not confident in those areas. We've stuck with American Home Shield for years because I need someone that I can call at a reasonable price to come in. We finally had to replace the system and I'm happy. AHS has been good to me. My financial advisor thought I should drop it but I'm afraid to do that because this is an old house and things can be fixed for $75.

That was in March when everybody was just hearing about the coronavirus, so I figured that was why they never called me back. The first time they came to fix the washer machine, they said it was due to a clutch issue. But it wouldn’t run through the cycles. It turned out to be something else. So they came back and fixed that. Then with the refrigerator, the reason the refrigerator’s side was icing up was because the seal was broken. We had to catch that and say it needed to be replaced. I said, “I’ll bet it’ll stop icing up,” which it has, one the seal was replaced. Everything is good now and the tech were helpful. The experience with them was pretty good.
But in terms of submitting the claim to American Home Shield, it was tough to get through on the phone. I was sitting there on hold for an hour. I needed to call because I was sitting there on the website and it was not working. It kept telling me, “Error. It’s easy to submit claims when you’re online, but to get ahold of American Home Shield on the phone is impossible. On my recent claim, I had a lot of electrical outlets that weren’t working and the people that came out were fine. Even though this last time was fine, I’ve had some work done to my oven and I’m not really happy with the whole thing. I have a Dacor oven range with the slide in and it has a gas stove on top of it. I've had somebody come out a few times to fix it and the last time that they came to fix it, they had to change the control panel on the front of it. There is a plastic part on that control panel that it sits on, and every single time they've been out to fix my oven for one thing or another, they've messed up the appearance of the whole front face of it.
My oven works, but that thing has been cracked and the whole control panel is now starting to fall apart. Now the control panel is lighting and it does not want to operate correctly. Where you press the buttons for the oven is on the front of the unit, not towards the back of it. Any time you press on it, it’s falling, and I’m really upset because I’m not the one who cracked it. I have tried to get that one piece replaced and I can’t get it replaced because they don’t make that part anymore. I called American Home Shield and talked to two of their people trying to complain about it and I got hung up twice on. I ended up getting disconnected and then I tried calling back, and I couldn't get through to anybody.
Another thing is that, now American Home Shield wants to increase my premium for the year. When I first started out, it was almost $400, now it’s $587 and the reason I get is because I've used their service. They are are treating us like it’s a homeowners insurance. You file a claim on it, then they’re going to up it the next year, which is stupid. It’s not like it’s insurance. They are offering us service and they are charging more for using that. That doesn’t make sense to me, so I’m not happy with the premium part of it as well, and I’m thinking about canceling because of it.

The air conditioner was not cooling, then it was freezing. And it was the third time that it happened where it got hot up here, so we submitted a claim with AHS. They sent out a tech and the visit was good. The man who came out showed me that there are three different things that could be wrong with it, and that he could fix the current problem for a fee. But then, the two other things would be going bad. Somebody has been out for the unit three times for the same problem, too. They came out quickly and treated the problem. Then the AC would seem to be okay for a period of time after the service, but the same thing would happen again. If I fix an issue, it would just be like a Band-aid, so I need to get back with the person who came out and order the new air conditioner.
The contractor also told me that whatever was wrong with the AC would cost $300 something to fix, but potentially, I could get that taken off of the price of the new air conditioner if I get it now. I know the warranty is almost up but they obviously can't replace the whole air conditioning because the other stuff hasn't totally gone bad yet.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Our washing machine would not turn off the hot water and when the cycle was done, it would drip water onto the clothes, which would become saturated. If you're not Johnny-on-the-spot then it takes you an hour and 20 to dry your clothes, which is not optimal for power consumption. For the same incident, the dryer was only drying on high heat, so we needed something fixed in the dryer’s heat settings as well. The technician went back to the office and said they were ordering parts. We waited patiently for a week, and nothing. Eventually, they called.
The parts were stranded in a big city in Florida and a quite sassy element has infiltrated some of Home Shield's service desks. She said I didn't know what I was talking about, that it always took that long. I put up with that and she put up with me. We’ve been with Home Shield for years. We love their service, but companies move up as well as move down. Some are good, while some are on their way down. Home Shield has to be very careful because they almost ran us off this time with their high-rolling. It was very close. Still, we got through the call, so everything was great.
The unit ran for about a week. On a separate incident, we had another appliance that woudn't work and Home Shield dispatched Hayes. They sent a guy out in the next 48 hours and he fixed the issue on site. Hayes Appliance was wonderful. They're nice people and they're very efficient too. We like them. The unit has been working since and at the moment, everything is great.

I've been with American Home Shield for 20 something years now. I've never had any bad experiences in terms of requesting a service and with the follow through, and all of the people that they contract with that have come to do work have been very professional. In the past, I have called depending on what the situation was and the severity. But the last couple of times, I submitted claims online.
This last time, we thought it was the washer because during the rinse cycle, it would drain the water on the floor of the garage. And that's why I called Home Shield up. It wasn't until right after that we knew a little something was going on with the sink, but we thought, "Okay, we'll call out a plumber." But I didn't realize it was the same thing. So when the contractor came and checked the washer and made sure it wasn't that, I knew for sure. I said, "Okay, I got to get the plumbers in here." We have the appointment for Thursday. The guy that came out to check the appliance said he put on the invoice that it was a plumbing issue and not an appliance issue. But he told me they should not charge me again for the $75 service fee but they are doing that. So, I need to call them and clarify that. But that's the only issue I've ever had with them.

I went to the American Home Shield website and submitted the claim. The time frame on getting a contractor out is usually about two or three days. This particular one, Texas Best Heating & Air, was real good. I was very satisfied. The unit was not cooling and it would freeze up but now everything works perfectly. The tech told me what he did, then gave us tips on how to better our electricity with this unit. People should get American Home Shield and use them.
Their website is user-friendly but it needs to have more detailed options. It says, “No cooling,” but there’s no way to put, “It’s freezing over". One of the main titles could have sub-titles to where you can actually detail more what the issue is. Also, it doesn't say when to expect until you receive a phone call or an email, then they’ll let you know when the contractor will be able to come, or they’ll call you to schedule an appointment.

I had the warranty for a year when I first moved into my new home. And I just was looking online and reading Home Shield's reviews and I said I’ll give it a try. I called Home Shield when my dryer stopped working completely. That was my first time ever using them. The customer service was polite. I was very surprised because I called in the evening because I was so frantic. I was drying stuff and the dryer just automatically stopped. I was very impressed with the rep. She walked me through how the claim process was going to happen and told me that before the contractor comes I had to pay the $100 and that they would get someone out as soon as possible, which was fine because the person came the very next day. I was very pleased with that.
AA Dependable Appliance Service's tech had to replace something in the dryer that was plastic and that had to do with the heat thing. It’s working now. The tech took his time, was very polite, courteous and even told me something that I did not know - that my dryer was pushed back too far. So, he suggested that we pull it out some, and he checked the vent. He was pretty good. I was impressed with him.

American Home Shield is simple and it works great. I almost called back yesterday though to say that the washer wasn’t working but I just shoved the wire for the part back up under the rubber boot that the technician put back in our washer. I think it’s gonna be okay but if it doesn't hold, then I’ll call back and let AHS know that it’s not working. The technician did great and it wasn’t him but the nature of the repair.

One of our homes previously had American Home Shield and my parents recommended it. Overall, the contractors have been good. Grady's Air Conditioning advised me the type of damage, what they could do and other options that were available as well as the limitations of the insurance and what it would and would not cover. They even provided me cost inflation so I can understand that going forward. They were very forthright and explained very clearly. They also respected my wishes that they wear a mask, as well as I would while they were in the house. They went above and beyond by wearing booties and gloves and only took them off when they were actually working on the equipment and far away from others in the house. So, I was very pleased with what they did.
We also had a microwave that literally had a small electrical fire in it. The technician came out and confirmed there was electrical fire and explained how it could probably happen again, which has matched my expectations. He explained that the safest action would be to try and get a new microwave and did just that. I was very happy with the results because I did my measurements and he confirmed it. In a timely manner, we got a new one in and it fit perfectly. It was a good product.
That's exactly what we like to hear. We are happy to know that AHS is beneficial to you. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have great week.

I submitted a claim online to AHS but then I didn't have a lot of details I could put in the system. Still, I scheduled service and also asked AHS if my claim was going to be covered. There, I told the reps that the issue was for a fluorescent light with a ballast that had gone out. The reps looked at my contract and told me the issue was covered. I told them to keep their tech on schedule. An electrician from SJDI Electric Inc. came and sure enough, the ballast was the problem. SJDI called AHS who then said the issue was not covered.
I got on the phone with AHS and the rep verified that they shouldn't have told me that the problem was covered. When I called customer service, I got somebody there who had no idea what they’re talking about. There's a discrepancy. If I had known that my claim wasn't covered, then I would have just hired an electrician myself rather than paying $75 to AHS and then paying an electrician out of pocket. AHS then said that they would pull the phone call I had and check it. They said they’d call me back either the coming Friday or Monday, and I haven’t received a call back. When I've used home warranties in the past, I didn't have a good experience. I've always canceled them after the first year. Now, I'm in my new home and this experience with AHS was gonna be my trial run. I will keep my AHS contract because it's paid for a year. After the year ends, I'll cancel it.

My heating unit on my pool was not working and I called American Home Shield and told them. I paid the $75 fee and they scheduled a company to come out. The first group that came out spent about three minutes on-site and didn’t call me or anything. They called me back and said they were not going to approve my claim. I disagreed because this thing was here when I came and I sent them pictures. It’s a residential unit. Then, the Pool Crew called me and said that they were contacted by AHS to come out. They told me whenever they had a guy scheduled they would call me. I talked to the lady and four days later, I got a phone call from their field personnel. He said he was gonna be in the area the next day and asked if he could come out. He said nobody has to be home because it's in the backyard. I told him how to get around through the gate and everything.
He showed up and he followed up with a phone call later. He said it’s an older unit and the manifold and everything was broken and that he was submitting the claim to AHS. AHS called me back about two days later and told me that the claim was approved but there were some things within the claim that were on and above just the equipment. I would have a service fee that The Pool Crew would reach out to me for the payment. But they were ordering the equipment. It was another week and The Pool Crew reached out to me and said they got the part in and they scheduled it. I paid the additional fee and they came out and replaced the unit that was not working. Three days after that, I got back into town and looked at what they did and it appeared that they did very good work. It appears like everything that they did, from their piping to cleaning up, was all very professional. If I have any more problems with my pool, that’s who I'm calling.

The first electrician was terrible but I have high praise for the second company, #1 R&R Electrical Allstars. The guy who came was very amenable and knowledgeable about what was going on. The first guy said they couldn’t do anything because we’re missing screws. But when this guy came, he said we were not missing any screws. I knew that. He said all our covers were here and all our screws were here. He hooked up to the timer and said it needed to be replaced so they would have to put it in to get the timer replaced.
He was wonderful. I even asked him a question about stuff that he wasn't doing. My pool has a light in it and I don't think American Home Shield covered the lighting in the pool because the wires go under the ground. The light is inside the pool. He said they don’t work on the lights in pools so he doesn’t really do this but he told me that he could the transformer running but that it was the pool people who have to make that decision if they want to replace. But he said that it takes our watts down then takes it up but at least it was running, that we do have power to it, and that we do know it's running. So he was a wonderful young man.
I was also telling him what happened with the first people, how I wanted a second opinion from a different company and how that was how he got here. He goes, "This first people, were they this company?" I asked how he knew and he said he constantly has had to go behind them. So I'm super satisfied with the second electrician that came out. He did a great job.

Other than that, it was fine. They said that the contractor will be in touch within 24 business hours or something like that.
NW Sundance Services got in touch with us and scheduled an appointment. Then on the day of the appointment, they were in contact about when exactly they would be there. When they came out, they diagnosed it, determined that it needed to be replaced, obtained the replacement and installed it. They did a good job. We've had trouble knowing what is covered under our contract with American Home Shield and not. So there are things that are covered in the sample contract but are not covered in our actual contract and when you submit a request, you’ll never know without reading the fine print of your contract what’s gonna be covered or not. There were a couple of times where we wouldn’t have even known what these things were to know if we should expect it would be covered or not.

We thought we had a leak in the drainpipe between the walls. He had a look and he said something was dripping. He ran the air conditioner in here and there was a drainpipe that had broken loose in my air conditioner up in the attic. So he went up there, saw it was, went out, got some glue and glued it back.

This policy is on my rental property. I wanted to make sure that everything in the home is protected. I used the website every time I submitted a claim before and it was fine. Using the website is quick and easy, and submitting the service and paying the fee and then having somebody who every time, normally called me back within a whole lot less than 24 hours.
When the AC unit was not cooling, I also submitted the claim for that through the website. They gave me a notification that I would be contacted within 24 hours. The person from the company, My Maintenance Pro TN, called and told me they received a notification from American Home Shield that I needed service and it had been assigned to them. They called me within two hours at the most after I submitted the request. They were great and very personable. It was a very professional service. Unfortunately, the AC is not cooling again so I submitted another request through the website and I was contacted back, and then the service is going to come out again this coming Friday.

Normally, I call AHS to submit claims but if I can't get through them, I'll go online. However, I'm not so comfortable doing it online because I don't really feel like I've confirmed that they are going to do the process. Their contractors have all been very professional and efficient. AA Dependable fixed my dryer. They were wonderful. The tech thought it might be a fuse, but it wasn't. It ended up being the heating element. I was impressed that they had the part that I needed on the vehicle. I didn't have to wait and was ecstatic about that.

Everything I do is online now if I can help it, so submitting my service request online makes everything easy. I was a little disappointed the first time that we called a plumber out though. The toilet had backed up severely but when the guy got here, the toilet was working fine. There was nothing that he could do. On that same call, there was a second issue wherein the hot water for the bathtub has no water pressure. The water trickles out. He called it in and that was not a covered issue, so I felt like my money went down the drain on that call. We haven't been able to use the bathtub because the cold water runs. It's jetted and he suggested replacing the faucet, but the bathtub is sealed and tiled in. To replace the faucet, you would have to cut into the tile.
We talked about that and if we wanted to do that. We don’t think it’s a faucet issue though. It’s the water pressure. The cold water works great. It's the same thing in the sink and in the shower. It’s just that particular faucet and we haven't been able to address it. Still, SWAT was very thorough with texting and calling. Last week, the same plumber from the same company was here and and they replaced our garbage disposal. That was awesome. He was really quick. He also fixed a bathroom faucet that was leaking. That was perfect.

I like the timeliness of American Home Shield. Usually, I go online, put in a claim, and they send somebody our or somebody contacts me within 24 to 48 hours. They’re very fast and convenient. They sent out a contractor when my dishwasher wasn’t heating. The guy was very nice and friendly. He took a look to see what was wrong with my unit then he put the parts on order. He then came back about three days later and installed them. Everything is good.

Amazing Plumbing came out and the guys were really good. That’s why I always recommend Amazing Plumbing, ‘cause the last time I had a problem here, they were the ones who came here. Recently, they changed the garbage disposal to a new one ‘cause it’s not working, and then the one in the laundry room, they changed something in there because it was leaking. They were very friendly. They had social distancing because of this coronavirus thing. The contractor was wearing a mask and he was really a nice guy. The only thing is the monthly with AHS went up. Right now, it’s almost $42 and it’s not every month that we have a problem. Then we still have to pay %100 out of pocket.

For the most part with American Home Shield contractors, I've had mostly professional people that came to do the repairs that I've claimed. What made High Priority Plumbing and Services better to me was the gentleman who came in, looked at the issue with me and allowed me to express what I thought and had seen. He analyzed, took pictures, then he explained to me what he thought. He told me that he was gonna start working and he'd keep me informed on the process. After being here for about 30 minutes, he called me in and said, "This is what I see. This is the path I plan to proceed to correct this issue. It's gonna take me a little bit." Once he finished the process, he brought me back over and explained to me exactly what he did and why it would work. I was pretty happy with the service. It was perfect.
American Home Shield's automated system is horrible, though. When I call for example, it asks you for the information. It asks me, "Give me the phone number that's associated with this account." I have more than one account with them because I have more than one home, and I've called several times to correct that because I can recall having a service order call in, they show up at the other property. It seems that they haven't corrected that problem.

I used my phone app to submit a claim and American Home Shield sent me an email of when to expect the contractor. Advanced Heating & Air came within two days and was very professional. They checked out the unit because it was freezing up, made recommendations and informed me of what was going on. I was very pleased with them. They did a really good job and the unit is working fine now. But in all honesty, up about until this claim, I was not very satisfied with American Home Shield. However, this claim and another claim about two weeks before have both been very good and I've been very satisfied. So I think they've made some changes.

The dishwasher wasn’t cleaning. It was broken and not working, and the tech from Apple Appliance Repair determined it wasn’t repairable. American Home Shield just said they’re gonna replace it. They sent me an email yesterday. They ordered the replacement and said it would be five to seven days. Right now, with this situation and everybody working from their homes, it takes a little longer to get through to American Home Shield. But that’s understandable considering the times we’re in. That's not an issue. In fact, I own a real estate company and American Home Shield is the only home warranty company that I would ever recommend. They’re the best, by far. The first guy that came out said there was something wrong with the thing. He told me to test it for about four or five days then give him a call and see if it would come on. It worked for the two or three days, like he said, in the third day, it came on so I called him right back. He said that I have to call Home Shield. The other guy they sent put a new one on and that didn't work. He couldn't figure out why it was like that. He went out and got a part that didn't work. He said that he would sit and watch it come on as it's an automatic timer. He waited about 35 minutes for it to come on and it finally did. He said that this works. So, I have a lot of respect for that company. I thought what they did was excellent. They spent a lot of time.
American Home Shield is getting better people, better companies that represent them better. We had problems with the AC people. They fixed something, and the technician didn't evacuate the system, and it all clogged up. Of course, the company came out and fixed it, but it should have been done right the first time. The way I look at things is you don't leave the house 'till things are working, and you do it right.

My air conditioner was throwing out heat. It wasn’t throwing out any air. I submitted the claim online and AHS recommended J & J Mechanical. They came and replaced the coil, brought it up to code, and filled the refrigerant. Then they had to come back out because it still wasn’t heating right, and they found it was a leak. But then yesterday, even though they came out, they had to come back today because it still wasn’t cooling like it should. It was always somebody different that came. One person came with a crew to put in the coil. I called them back to let them know that it wasn’t cooling like it was supposed to, so another crew came. And then today, I thought it was still going to be the crew that came yesterday, or even the crew that came the first time, but it was another guy that came, who was by himself.
AHS called me to let me know what they could cover and what they wouldn’t. They covered the replacement of the coil, but they did not cover the upgrade of the code and the refrigerant. I had to pay for that myself. I had been satisfied every time that I would call or go online to request a service. The only time I wasn’t too happy was when I found out that I had to pay the bring it up to code, which I can understand, but it was just some unexpected expense. I’m glad I have AHS because I found out today that it would have been some more expense that I couldn’t afford to have.

When submitting claims, I do everything online. It’s so much easier. The claims process was super easy because the American Home Shield plumber scheduled the fix. I didn’t even have to do anything. I just got a call that he was coming to fix it. When the plumber was here, he had to cut into the wall. He dispatched to do drywall repair.
The only challenge with AHS has been we had a water leak, which was in our estimation an emergency. It’s not like there was an emergency reaction, so we still had to wait two days for someone to come out and turn off the water. We ended up getting a lot of water damage. I just wish that they had some sort of emergency service for some issues. This was the first thing that was, to me, a little catastrophic and opened a bigger can of worms. Otherwise, I love AHS. They’ve been great. I have celebrated AHS to many people and recommend them. I only have good things to say.

There was an issue with an electrical socket. It controlled a couple rooms in the house and it wasn’t connected correctly. I submitted a claim with AHS and the techs they sent out were able to fixed it very quickly. Other than that, most appointments take 24 hours or more with AHS, which overall, is relatively good. But with some things, like with the electrical thing, I was a little worried that I was gonna wait long to get that done right away. But luckily, I ended up not waiting that long. They were still pretty quick when I scheduled the appointment. I scheduled all my appointments online and their online portal was great.
Aside from this claim, I also submitted two claims which both concerned plumbing issues and they were handled greatly. After I scheduled the services online, I got a text message that I’d be hearing from the contractors. And I heard from them within 24 hours and they were out there within 24 to 48 hours to get the issues fixed. All in all, every issue I’ve had and I‘ve contacted AHS about had been resolved quickly.

We've only been here a year so I'm a little leery about the appliances and things. The previous owner didn't have any extended warranty. My husband and I talked about it. We decided to see what type of company they were. It seemed like AHS had good rating so I decided to call them. And I called them and they set me up. Recently my hot water tank was leaking everywhere. And because of coronavirus, I really didn't want anybody in but I needed some hot water. It seems as though the valve to turn the water off was having a problem with getting it completely off, so I needed to get someone in here. The technician did a great job. He installed and I haven't had any problem since.
The other time I would have liked to have the furnace fixed a lot sooner. I called them that Friday and they really couldn't get anyone out, and I couldn't get it done until that Tuesday. That wasn't their fault. I didn't get upset about it because of what's going on with the coronavirus. They promised me that they would try to get someone out as soon as possible.

The switch was stuck in the middle, which wasn’t something I needed to have fixed. They had to put it in the right position. I’m no expert when it comes to appliances and it was pretty hilarious that the problem with my appliance was pennies on the dollar. I could have saved myself 100 bucks, but at least I know what was causing the problem and I got educated on it.
They also fixed my doorbell. The issue was the transformer up in the attic, which they fixed, and a now, my doorbell works. Another repair I had done had something going on with my air conditioning unit and heating. My heating was coming on but it wasn’t working. It turned out the heating sensor in the furnace needed to be cleaned. Once they cleaned it, my heating worked. AHS's website is pretty user-friendly. Having a warranty is peace of mind. We’ve had a number of service calls. Most have been good, but some have been not so good. A potential issue is that the service people need to be familiar with the brands that they’re working on. We have, in the past, had occasions, specifically with our dishwasher a couple years ago, where they weren’t familiar with it, and we had to get somebody else. That's something that AHS needs to do. They should make sure that the people can handle the brand of the appliance. Other than that, we’ve had AHS on two different houses for more than 10 years collectively. It’s an insurance and in general, it saves me money.

Our heat pump wasn’t producing heat in the dead of winter. And in the summertime, the air conditioner seems to work constantly to maintain a moderate a temperature. We filed a claim over the phone and it took a few days for the tech to come out and do inspection. MM Heating and Cooling was top-notch. When they came out to check, they found a leak on the interior coil. And being that it was leaky, when the tech replaced it, there was a considerable amount of rust around the coil where it passes through the fence. Also, he explained to me that the old style was dissimilar metals, so the new coil that they replaced it with is made of all aluminum. He then did something and put it all back in there, and it seems to be working okay.
The tech was outstanding, very patient with me, allowed me to look over his shoulder and explain everything he did. He’s very professional. He asked me to call him around mid-June so that he could double-check because of the way the temperatures were. When he installed it, he didn’t think it was enough variant to be accurate on the charge. So, he should be out sometime mid-June to recheck it. With Home Shield, I like the peace of mind and not having to pay the full amount for the repairs is also quite nice.

We bought a new-to-us house and we had no idea as to the condition so we bought American Home Shield. We were having a problem getting electricity from an outlet that had a ground fault many months ago. We were worried that it was a systemic problem. The electrician came out under KAA Investments. He fixed it but we got the problem again. They were nice and courteous, but I was wondering if they did was complete. If we didn't have a contract with them, I probably would not hire those people back. Then, this latest one was for plumbing. We're pretty much satisfied with their plumbing people. The guy fixed the problem. He had to go into the wall to fix the pipe and he gave us the disclaimer that he was not a drywall guy. He did say that the reason that the patch job was as poor as it was because he didn’t have sheetrock with him.
American Home Shield uses Yakima Appliance a lot in where we're on. When we had a refrigerator that went bad, it took a month to get it fixed. Of course, it was always in the middle of summer ‘cause first, Yakima Appliance came out and they tried to do something. It didn’t work. Then they came back again and they identified a different problem. By the time they got the part and came out, a month had elapsed. They only work eight hours a day. So, from the time that they're contacted until we hear back from them that they'll be on our job and by the time that they come out, a week has passed.
Last week, we had Yakima Appliance out because of the washing machine. The washing machine doesn't stop at the end of the cycle. It starts to cycle again. They came out to fix it. It didn’t work. The guy replaced a whole timing unit and it still didn't work. But we have developed a go-around and we make sure that an hour after we start the wash, someone is there to open up the lid and stop it so it doesn't go and cycle again. If we didn’t have the Home Shield, we would have replaced the washer because of the frustration.

I had an electric issue where Beacon Hill Electric came out. Everything went okay. The issue wasn’t resolved but the tech did give us the explanation of what our issue was and why. He said the reason why it would be considered outside the scope of what American Home Shield would allow for him to do anything was because the issue was due to the way the house was built and how the wiring was done. American Home Shield wouldn’t cover that. So, we’re just gonna have to pretty much deal with having flickering lights until we end up paying from our pocket to get it fixed. The aspect that he explained everything was great. It just sucked that it’s an issue that, for some reason, he said American Home Shield won’t cover. It was a positive and the negative experience.
We had American Home Shield once before, and our experience with them was really good. The first time we had them, they did the repairs so good and took care of it. We had a previous warranty before and the customer service wasn’t there. They were a little bit more expensive too even though they didn't cover as much as what American Home Shield does. So, we went back to American Home Shield with our house once the other warranty went up. Just like with our experience with the electrical issue, AHS could improve by having a callback of a summary of explanation on what exactly with our issue won’t it cover so we can better understand why it’s outside the scope of what the coverage is with American Home Shield.

I prefer to do it by phone than online though. The main reason is they’ll tell you right away if it’s covered or not. If you do it online, sometimes it’s difficult to get to the specifics to make sure that it’s going to be covered. Several years ago, I requested service for a jacuzzi pump on my bathtub, and had I talked via phone, I would’ve been told that American Home Shield doesn’t pay to take out the sides on the tub to get to the motor. A warranty on a brand-new house, maybe not so important. But if your house has got some age on it, things will start to go wrong. Go for it. In my case, the reason I bought the warranty was our house is 20 years old, many of the appliances such as the furnace are 20 years old, and I can’t afford large repairs right now. And since I've had it, Home Shield replaced my washing machine, they repaired my heat pump - put in there a new air handler, and then this dryer. That’s the three claims I've had.
The dryer was making a strange noise, and that’s when we knew something was not right. Orsini’s Appliance came out and diagnosed it and the tech said that it was bad, which I'm sure it was. It's 20 years old. He came and fixed it about a week later. They had to wait for the part to come in. And then, we noticed another noise shortly after that so he came back yesterday, and he did repair and he said it was something minor. But that was it. It's fixed. I've used Orsini’s in the past and they have always been very good and reliable.

PLM came for my microwave and a dishwasher. Their service was great. However, dealing with the American Home Shield people was bad. My address was incorrect in their file and I’ve been trying to change it forever, but they never seem to be able to do it. In the past, when I have had an issue, like with PLM, the guy had to call me. He said that he couldn't find 343. It also meant that when AHS had to replace my microwave, the address they gave the shipper was incorrect and the shipper won’t ship it unless AHS gives them the correct address.
I was on the phone with AHS for over two hours being passed from person to person and no one could change the one last digit on my address. I was really nice to the first five people. And then after the first five people, I started to get a little bit irritated, but I was still polite. I felt like nobody had the technological ability to change the address. I don’t know if they thought that I was trying to get something for someone else with a different address. And when I asked them to take the microwave to PLM, I was told, "No, that's not how it’s done.” I still have not received the microwave. AHS still has not notified the shipper of the change of address. I said that was because it was 347. Everything else has been fine.

I’m gonna have to call them back though ‘cause there was one part that he was watching. He asked me to call them back if it needed replacing. But everything else went fine. He got the appliance back working like it should be.

AHS denied my claim on leaky pipes to my bathtub because I removed the spout and handles before realizing I was in over my head due to being unable to access the actual faucet (drop in tubs are well known for this problem.) The plumber they sent looked at the tub for two minutes and never even tried to work on it, giving AHS a false diagnosis. They then refused to give me my $100 service fee back because they sent the plumber out (who literally did no more than glancing down at the tub).
When I requested to speak to a supervisor I was told I had to wait up to 48 hours later. The next day I got a call from a woman who immediately stated that she was NOT a supervisor and again denied refunding my money. I told her that not having a supervisor call me back was unacceptable and they had 24 hours left to have a supervisor call me back. That was Tuesday and here we are on Friday with no call back so I called them again to request speaking to a supervisor and was again denied.
We do apologize for the delay as well as the inconvenience. It is not our intent to deny you of any request. We would love to speak with you pertaining to a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

When the heat pump would try to come on, it would come on and go off, and come on and go off, very intermittently. Sometimes, it would come on and be fine and other times, it would go on for 5 or 10 minutes doing that. The first time Kevin from Temperature Pros had to come out, he found a loose wire and he made repairs to that but apparently, that was not the issue because that very same night, the heat pump started doing it again. So I put it in for a second ticket and he came out. He had a hard time getting the heat pump to repeat the problem that I was having. He was here for quite a while. Finally, the heat pump started to do it and he figured out that it was the circuit board that was messing up. So he had to fix that up and brought it back the next day, and it's worked great since.
I’ve had American Home Shield for about three years now and this isn’t the first time I've used them. I have used them also in the past. I had two other policies with them because I had two rental properties, and I've never had a problem submitting a claim ever. It's as simple as going online and requesting a technician to come out for whatever the problem is, and I get a message immediately on my phone saying, “We dispatched this and you should hear from somebody shortly.” Usually, within that day, I get a call from a technician.
The only thing that American Home Shield has ever done that I kind of frowned upon was that when you're selecting your policy, they used to have you pick 10 items. That’s the one that I did and I picked 10 items, which included appliances. All of a sudden, I was paying way more for a bill the third year and when I went back and looked, I had four add-on items that I had never added on. It was because they separated all of the items. So those were no longer appliances but a named appliance. That was not very cool. But otherwise, they’ve been a great service company. I have also checked around with other home warranty companies and they are all very much more expensive than American Home Shield.

I've had Home Shield since we moved in in 2015 and I've only needed it a couple of times but it's so worth it. It's been great every time and they're doing a great job. I've submitted claims over the phone and have been on hold for one minute maybe ever. And every time I called, I got information. It didn't change between that and the next call. It's super easy. I had a heating claim which Myers Comfort came out a couple of times for and they were wonderful and knowledgeable. I knew nothing about this stuff at all and they taught me a lot about it. They're also really nice and thorough. I've heard horror stories but they were so reasonable. Even my dad can't believe it when I was telling him. They went above and beyond. They fixed the heating and it's working great. If I ever need them again, I hope I don't, I would call them.

I told him that I did exactly what he did. I could pull down the lever, and then move it, and then attach it. I told the guy that it wouldn't work. Eventually, a day or two later, the garage door wouldn’t work again. I called American Home Shield again and they contacted the contractor, Whitney Holdings, and the person said that they will probably have to replace the garage door opener. AirMax Heating & Cooling didn’t catch what was wrong with our heating the first time they came out, so they had to come out a second time. The contractor is amazing and very well-versed. There wasn’t a question that he didn’t have an answer to. He even provided examples and analogies for me to better understand the equipment that was in my house, what other options I might have if I wanted to replace it and what effects that would have on the house in its totality. He was extremely knowledgeable and had great customer service.
A part had to be ordered and that took about three days ‘cause it was over the weekend. I was fine with the timeframe and everything went well. A home warranty is extremely important because it has saved me a lot of money over time. I wish that American Home Shield would expand its warranty. I'm talking water damage, roof covers, sidings and things like that. It would be amazing if they were able to do that. Insurance companies aren’t the best.

C&M Electrical Service came out and fixed the electrical issue in under an hour. They figured out that it was a bad plug that was shorting out several outlets in the house. So far, I haven't had any problems with those but I heard a noise that was similar to what I heard when the other one went out before. So, I may have to call them back out. There are so much ticking stuff going on. From the way the technician described it, what might have caused it was the way that the people who installed the electrical outlet put them in. So I will have to call them back out on a call outside of the warranty to fix the rest of them or check them out at least.
American Home Shield is not the best but they're not the worse either. The only thing about them which kinda ticks me off is they collect before they even send anybody out. Before, they would collect afterwards but now, they may take a fee for something and people wouldn’t show up. Then, I would have to wait to see if they could find somebody else. I didn't check to see how soon they actually charge you or if they just keep your card on record so that when the person has done everything, they could go ahead and bill you as opposed to a service person collecting the fee from me. AHS needs to wait until the person comes and then charge you. This is a real bad time in getting people to come in your house anyway and it had to be done because I could not have my electricity.

The tech from Total Air Care called around 12:30 and said he was coming on. He was on time, courteous, and professional. My unit on the outside wasn’t running and he took care of it all while he was here. He didn’t linger, and he got the job done in 45 minutes to an hour at the most. Thus far, that was the first time that I had used American Home Shield and there was no extra charge, but I know some people had complaints about the extra charges that some companies were charging.
The lady told me that some things may not be covered, and I may have misunderstood. I read everything but I was under the impression that with the contract that I pay every month, it's like an insurance for when something happens and it's not the case that they pay for everything. The advertisement said that if something happened to my whatever, they would replace it and it's not the truth. If my refrigerator broke down, and they sent a repair person and they couldn't replace it, there must be some little hidden clause in there that says that they're not going to pay for it, which is what is advertised. It's false advertising.

I have a pool system and the pump was leaking. The timer wasn't working, too. I filed a claim with AHS and they sent out Parrot Head Pools. The tech replaced some seals in the system, so it stopped leaking, then he kind of showed me how to work the timer. There are actually two timers in the system and I didn't even know that. Other that that, submitting claims with AHS has been fairly easy. The biggest disconnect I've had with my other experiences was in the timing from the people that came out. When my air conditioning and heating system went out, AHS sent out someone who went out, looked at it, and ordered parts. But once the parts came in, he refused to install it. AHS sent someone else almost immediately and that company was amazing. They ordered parts but the parts never came. Then they refused to come out and finish the work. And it ended up going to a third person, so I wasn't with working heat or air conditioning for almost two months.
It was an ongoing process that I felt was dragged out because of the contractors that AHS chose to work with. And from my understanding, the first contractor was about an hour and a half away while the final contractor that they sent to me was in the same city as me. I'm not sure why they didn't send the last one the first time, though I'm sure they have some sort of preferential. But that distance plays a factor in the completion of work. Despite that, I maintained AHS because I have an older house where things break and stuff happens. I've also had some really good experiences with them, though I've had some really awful ones. But I don't fault them per se, and maybe they need some better screening on their contractors and who they're choosing to assign the jobs.

I'm in the process of selling my home and we had the home inspection last week. There were a few minor electrical issues that the home inspector identified we needed to get fixed. There were two claims that I had with Home Shield and Light It Up came out the day that Home Shield notified them. The service was excellent and they were very good. They've come here three times in the last two months and they're an excellent company.
Then, our air conditioning went out on Tuesday morning at 4:00 am and I had to go to work. I got up to use the restroom at 3:30 and I noticed that it was really warm in the house, but I didn't think anything of it and I went back to sleep. I left the house at 7:00 and it was up to 80 degrees in our house. I lowered it to about 77 and then I left. My elderly parents live with me and around 11 o'clock, my mom called and said there's something wrong with the air conditioner. It wasn't working at all. From work, I immediately put in a work order online with Home Shield.
The HVAC company called and said they won't be able to come see me until between 11:00 and 2:00 on Thursday. I told them I have elderly parents in the house and that I could not wait two days. They said I would have to call Home Shield back and ask them to elevate it to an emergency work order. She made it sound like they do it all the time and I thought that's as easy as it was going to be.
I called Home Shield and I missed out on four hours of work on Tuesday because I was on hold with their call center. I kept getting cut off. On the first two calls, I was on hold for 15 or 20 minutes before I was even able to speak with an operator or a technician. They seemed friendly at first, but I kept telling them I just spoke with the HVAC company and all they have to do is call the company and let them know to elevate it to emergency status. On the first two calls, I was hung up on after being on hold for 15 to 20 minutes. But I realize it's through COVID, so there are probably a lot of home issues.
I had to speak with three different Home Shield reps and by the third call, I was very upset because I've been on hold for two and a half hours. Although the Filipinos speak very good English, it was still very hard to understand what they were saying. On the third phone call, the rep put me on hold and I was on hold for 15 minutes. She finally came back and said Home Shield doesn't consider this an emergency. 80 degrees in a house with two elderly and she's trying to tell me that 80 degrees isn't an emergency? I got very upset. I demanded that she tell me what she considers an emergency. She put me on hold again, came back, and said they consider it an emergency when the temperature outside is 105 degrees. I live in Texas. It doesn't get up to 105 until July, August, and September. I demanded to speak to a supervisor. So once again, I was on hold for another 15, 20 minutes.
I hung up and I called back. By the fourth phone call and another 15 minutes of being on hold, I got another technician. I said I wanted to speak to a supervisor and I explained everything. I said I had been on the phone for three hours and that I wanted the air conditioning fixed that day. Once again, I was on hold for 15 minutes and a customer service representative came on the line. He tried to tell me they don't consider this an emergency. I said I just spoke with the HVAC company and all they have to do is call them. I told him we could go around and around all day. He could hang up on me or we could get disconnected like I had several times, but I was not getting off the phone until he told me what he could do for me that day. We were yelling at each other.
Finally, he said they could call the HVAC company and negotiate for them to come out. If they expedite it to an emergency reporter, it's gonna cost and they would not cover that cost. I said that was fine. He also said that a lot of times, if it's after hours, they could charge anywhere from $100 to $300. It took me four hours to get to that point. And by that time, I was close from canceling with Home Shield. I was so upset. Also, he said the previous rep wasn't supposed to tell me that it has to get up to 105 degrees for Home Shield to consider that an emergency. I thought that was very unethical. Now that I know that, if I ever have another air conditioning with Home Shield, I now know what I have to say to you to save my air conditioning.
He put me on hold and called the HVAC company. He asked what I was willing to pay if they expedite it and I said I could afford $50, but I cannot afford $300. He put me on hold for five minutes and got back on the phone with me. He said they were able to negotiate $50 and the HVAC company was able to come out at 6 o'clock that night, not even an hour and a half after I got off the phone with the Home Shield customer service rep.
I love Home Shield and the service has been excellent. Most of the companies that they have assigned to me have been great. But when it comes to their call center, we're expecting to be able to communicate with their company. I realize many companies in the U.S. outsource their call centers. But if I ever have to experience something like that again, I will go with another home warranty company.
