The dryer wasn't heating and the washer was making noise. We called AHS through the phone to file the claim. Adams Appliance Repair was very good. They were very nice and they knew what they were doing. The technician was great. He was on time and he called. They did everything they were supposed to. I hate American Home Shield, but that was one of the best calls I had. This claim worked out fine.

We moved into this house last August and the previous owners provided American Home Shield for us. They are good and but I wish they could lower the cost of the deductible. Other than that, there was no difficulty in making claims. I like doing things online and I made a claim online when the water dispenser of my refrigerator was not working. Tommy D Appliance came out and they were good.

I reported two issues. The heating was not working. It was not heating up the house. There was a little switch inside that needed to be flipped that nobody had an idea about, and the Altus tech just came in, flipped the switch, and left. I paid 100 bucks for that. The other issue was with the hot water in one of the bathrooms. There was hot water in all other places except that. The guy came in which took him two weeks to do. I guess he only contracted that work for Home Shield, even though there are a bunch of plumbers around here. But nonetheless, he came in two weeks later and looked at the problem. He took it apart and put it back. He couldn't figure out the problem and he left saying either Home Shield would contact me back or he would do it. He wasn’t very clear about it, but it was Home Shield that did.

I had a heating problem and American Home Shield designated Metropolitan for it. That claim was okay. But there was another problem with the refrigerator and the contractor who was sent out said they Mickey Moused it. They charged me then they never came back. I’m not happy with American Home Shield’s choice of contractors. During the whole of last year, every time we called the warranty company for service, the contractors came out but it seemed like they were just there to collect their $100. They were not interested in fixing anything.
I was with the American Home Shield for two years and I had five properties with them. But they are a scheme. They don’t screen their contractors, and there's nobody that you can talk to. There's absolutely no way you can talk to a live human being and complain about your experience. It's horrible. I just changed all my insurance.
Thank you for your feedback, We do appreciate the concern in this issue pertaining to HVAC. We would love to speak with you regarding this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you in this matter.

American Home Shield does a good job. But how easy or difficult a claim is depends on what the claim is. I don't like that they are really restrictive as who they use as their service people. We’ve been with them for 10 years and now, they’ve changed to 15 different service people. You never know who you are gonna get. That’s my problem with them. Otherwise, contractors come in and they fixed the problem. And it’s okay. We’ve looked around and American Home Shield is the best warranty we found. Some of the others say they cover things but they really don’t if you get down the bottom line. They give you a certain amount of money whereas American Home Shield pretty much covers what you got a problem with.
But if you want a certain company to come out, the warranty company would say that is not part of the contract and that they don’t have a contract with those people. We’ve run into that before. We had ABC Company come out and we really enjoyed their services. If something else happens, we told American Home Shield that we would like for ABC to come. But American Home Shield is not contracted with them anymore and they would give us somebody else. They fixed the job but it’s just not consistent. I would like to have the same person come out and work on my air conditioning every year but we are never gonna get the closest. For a claim we had, Cabot Mechanical was sent out to check our air conditioner. We called and they were out within 24 hours. They did a good job and we are pleased. All in all, we're happy with American Home Shield. I've recommended them to my daughter, son, and grandson.
We are happy to know that AHS is beneficial to you. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have great week.

They were very cognizant of wearing all the protection gear and coming through your house. They were great. They also followed up and some parts had to be ordered.

AHS was just recommended to me. This is the first time I’ve ever started a claim. I tried calling, but it took too long, so I ended up just doing it on the internet. Air Connection Mechanical sent about three different technicians out, and every time they left, the issue was resolved temporarily, and then the next day, I have to call them back. American Home Shield sent me an electrician because the AC company said it needed to be electrical work. The electrician said it’s air conditioning. He left and he’s going to file a report to get a different AC company out. He’s supposed to send that within the next 30 minutes but it sounds like AHS might be backed up so it might take longer.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield is easy enough to do. However, the first time I had an issue with my washer, they sent someone who couldn't work on my washer. Then, when they sent somebody who could work on it, they didn't have the parts needed. Those parts needed to be ordered. But then, the same part went out within a week and they had to order that again. It took a while to get that claim done. It seems that none of their contractors have parts on hand. Still, the washer has been fine since then.
Home Shield is also charging a little high for their monthly fee. They charge $49.99 a month. Still, they do the job. Recently, I had ATR General Services to handle my unit issue. They came and assessed my unit and found that the inducer on it had gone out. They ordered the part which took a while. Then, they came back and put the part in. The unit has worked fine since then.

We had a faucet replaced. It didn't feel like the parts were covered based on what the contractor told me. So, that wasn’t very clear to me going into it, like if a faucet needs to be replaced but you get a really cheap plastic part. It’s not the same as what you have if you don’t buy one yourself. We had another claim wherein the AC unit fried all the key parts. Next Generation came and fixed it, and replaced the compressor and some of the electronics that fried. That went great.

We had a problem with the refrigerator, which ended up being my stupidity. We thought it was a problem with the dishwasher when it was actually with the garbage disposal. AAA Appliance Services came out and they ended up fixing the fridge. The water wasn’t working. The company that came after AAA was great, though. American Home Shield is a fantastic home warranty provider. I’ve been with AHS for probably seven years. The only time we ran into a problem with them was Thanksgiving time when our dishwasher broke. It took four times before it was finally fixed in January, but that wasn’t their fault. Crap happens.

I was a customer for four years and wanted to modify my contract to remove the coverage related to our pool since I had a new one installed. I spoke to four people who told me this wasn't possible and when I finally spoke to the fifth person they mentioned they could make the change. Best case scenario the four people I spoke with were inept and untrained or worst case the Company's business practices are completely shady. As a result I cancelled my policy and went with a competitor. Additionally, they charged me a cancellation fee which I happily paid to distance myself from their business. There are other options out there that are better than American Home Shield. Definitely would not recommend.

When the pump underneath the dishwasher needed to be replaced, the guys that looked at it were great, but the guy that came to put the replacement in was kinda average. That was a first for me because AHS has always sent really good people. He did the job, but we called back because he needed to come back to finish it. There was a piece of molding that I wanted the dryer to sit behind, but after he first came, he had it sitting on top of the molding. When he came back, he did the best he could. It’s now mostly behind the molding now and I’m happy with that.
AHS has changed. They and their customer service people on the phone are average now. The rep kept on saying that I was calling about a leak and I said I was calling about my dryer that was working. After speaking with her on the phone for a few minutes, she put me on hold and came back on. She said, “So, you’re calling about a leak in your kitchen?” I said that there was a leak coming from the dryer. She thought it was the faucet that I was talking about. I’ve been with AHS for over 20 years. When I moved in in 1996, the air conditioning unit was acting up. They came three times and then replaced the whole unit. But they were at a much more professional level than what they are now. We’re looking for other companies to maybe switch to.

I had a garbage disposal issue and I reported it to American Home Shield on a Thursday. I got a call from their contractor, Drain Masters, who came the next morning and did the job. The tech happened to have the needed part in his truck. My issue was fixed and I was very happy with the service. Drain Masters was great.
With Home Shield, I've gotten everything I need to be done faster than if I didn't have a warranty. I doubt I would have had Drain Masters out the next morning. I'm very happy with my warranty. My dishwasher seemed to be stuck in washing mode but we couldn't see water coming in. We discovered that water had been leaking down to the floor and through the basement ceiling and all the way down to the basement walls. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online and Repair Shack, their contractor, came within a day or two. The tech gave me a two-hour window that morning and he came right at the beginning of that window.
However, the initial visit did not fix the problem. We had to submit a recall and they had to come back for a second visit to determine what was going on. They did that right away and determined the parts that we needed to order. It took a few days for those parts to come in and then they came back again and completed the repair. Since that time, things have been perfect. We've been with AHS for over 15 years now and I've been very satisfied with them.

Submitting a claim was pretty easy and I did online and on the phone. American Home Shield was having an AC company come out then it took a minute to get hold of one that was qualified. I had to call in ‘cause I have no AC and it's 85 degrees in my house and I didn't receive a call within the 24th or 48th hour. Airtron Inc. came out. They weren't able to fix it but they did their job and were professional.
What I'm not okay with is that aside from being a repeat customer plus the fact that I’m a Realtor and I refer business to them, every year, even though I don't up my service fees, they up my renewal rate by $50. By the time it's all said and done, it's gonna be like $700, whereas with First American, Old Republic, it's nowhere near that. That aggravates me and it's a process every time I have to go to renewal and then I have to call in. It pisses me off. Aside from renewals, they should improve getting in touch with somebody whenever I call in. It would be great if I had an account manager or rep. If something goes wrong, I don't have to keep calling them back in and talking to four different people before they transfer me to another four different people.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

My air conditioner wasn't cooling one time and I called American Home Shield. Their rep was knowledgeable and had a good personality. Upon submitting the claim online, I set the appointment up with their contractor, Comfort First Heating & Cooling and their tech showed up within five minutes. The tech's professionalism was very good. However, he said that my system had a slow leak of Freon. I told him to find it and fix it as the claim is costing me 400 dollars out of my pocket. He said that would take too long. He said he could put something that would automatically seal the leak as my system was running.
He put a little blue cylinder inside and said that it was for when the air conditioner kicks in. With it, the pressure would be maintained. I felt though that he should have just fixed the leak without having me give him a lot of input. The AC has been good so far since the repair. I've been with AHS since '04 or '05 and I like the protection. It's less expensive to have the warranty and use it than it is to have to go out and buy a brand new appliance.

I have been impressed with the people that AHS has sent out. I have had friendly and knowledgeable people. Last year, we had a mini-refrigerator go out and I had been kinda frustrated. It is still not resolved. They said that I needed a new one, but they would not get it for me. They said that I needed to find one and then they would reimburse me. I've kind of shelved that and haven't followed up on it. When I call them about it, they said that there was no limit and that doesn’t matter if I wait a couple of years. They've got in the system that they owe me a refrigerator. Whenever I get one, I can contact them and they will send me a refund. I would’ve wanted them to have brought out a refrigerator and put it in. When the panel on the heater and our pump were not working, Expert Pools came out. When they looked at the pump, they said the issue was the capacitor. They replaced that and the panel, and everything has been working properly since.

Then after that, I was finally told that somehow, the claim got put on the backburner and that they were gonna take care of it. Everything went fine with my recent claim with AHS. We just had to do a couple of visits. There was some miscommunication on what needed to be fixed between myself and the people that take the ticket. So, the contractors would only do what was on the ticket at the time. And I had to call back in to get them to come back out to redo the other stuff.
When I called, I had a plumbing leak and we had some stoppage stuff. There were some leaking faucets. And then I have water in the floor. I told them I don’t know where it was coming from. When he came out, he was like, “All we have is that there was leaking.” There was water on the floor. He said, “We didn’t have anything on the drain stoppage.”
Apparently, in the basement, the drain was stopped up, which was causing backflow to the leak, and the sump pump was leaking, and my sink was leaking underneath. The pipes were leaking underneath that. So, he fixed the sump pump leak and the sink fixed, the leaking stopped. And then he was like, “I’m gonna have to come back because I can’t do this.” The toilet was leaking.
A couple of weeks later, he came back and fixed the toilet leak. And he fixed the stoppage for the basement where the laundry was flowing. So, the toilet still moves, like if you sit on the toilet. But it’s not leaking and I don’t see any water around it, and it’s no longer constantly running. The bathroom faucet still leaks, but he did what was on the ticket. He was very professional and friendly on both times he came out. Even when he was explaining to me about this ticket, I was like, “I just knew water was leaking from somewhere and this was backed up here.” And he was like, "We’ll get it." Between this quarantine stuff with COVID-19 and my house falling apart at the same time, I’m just happy that I don’t have puddles of water.

The water heater was leaking and we filed a claim. The guy from Plumbers came out and he checked exactly the leaks from the water heater. A week later, he called to let us know that it was $749 for the labor. I said it was too expensive because we have the Home Shield cover for the water heater and we were expecting maybe we can pay another $100 or $200 for the gas pipe to reconnect to the new water heater. The job is still not complete. We called Home Shield and reported. They said they may send a different guy to finish the job in 60 days. I’m still waiting for the new guy. Also, we just called the other day because one of the AC units is not working. He also wore booties and was very considerate. Major kudos to him. Everything was also scheduled in a timely fashion and he did a very nice job. I was very happy about that. But I had a terrible experience with my Thermador range. I love it and I don't wanna have it replaced but a dial was broken. So while the young man was here, I asked if he could check whether I could get a new knob for it, and he did.
But then I got this horrible call from this woman who was cranky, nasty and didn't explain things. She called me and started rattling a bunch of stuff off. I couldn’t understand what she was saying. I told her I didn’t want a new Thermador and that I just wanted a knob. But she said no and that they had to replace it. She said the parts weren’t available. I finally asked her if she was having a bad day because I was really not appreciating the conversation and she just went off. She said, “You can hang up and call back.” I said, “Okay, I’ll do that.”
With the number that she gave me, it took me a couple of transfers to actually get to somebody that I could really talk to and I had to wait on hold for a long time. But I eventually got through to somebody who was very pleasant and apologized for my bad experience. What it boiled down to was that American Home Shield would only let me have a replacement cooktop that wasn’t anything close to Thermador and that I would have to replace it, which was like $2,500, and then get reimbursed. The downdraft is built into my Thermador and they don't make those anymore apparently.
But if I were to replace my Thermador, I was told that I’d have to replace it with a Whirlpool or Sears. I know it won’t fit on my island and I have tile on my island. I said I was not in a position to replace my whole island countertop so it made no sense to me. I asked if they could just compensate me so that someday when I redo that, I’d have it there. The rep said they couldn’t do that, which was fine with me because it’s gonna be a few years before I remodel my kitchen and when I do, I may wanna try to keep this cooktop. It’s older but it is a gem. As is my double Gaggenau. That’s $9000 to replace a double oven Gaggenau and I love it. All I wanted was to get my oven doors fixed, which that young man did a beautiful job on.
For my Thermador, I just wanted to get a new knob because one of the five is broken. I’ll probably just get on eBay and keep looking because there’s gotta be one out there somewhere. But the second gal I talked to at American Home Shield explained to me what my options were. The first gal I talked to shouldn’t be representing American Home Shield. I don't know why that woman treated me the way that she did. American Home Shield should go back, listen to that recorded conversation and provide that woman an opportunity to get customer service training or go do another job because she’s not cut out for it if that’s the way she insists on treating people and thinks it’s okay. Granted, everyone is stressed right now. So I think all, myself included, have to make an extra effort to be patient and kind and not treat people that way. I didn't need to start my day like that.
Quite honestly, I’ve been dissatisfied with American Home Shield for a long time and I have been looking to shift my policy. I’m a Real Estate broker so I put that policy on my own house probably 15 years ago. I’ve had it for a very long time and I occasionally have had to use it and it’s been great. But I don't recommend American Home Shield anymore because their policy has been cut so significantly. It’s really not what it used to be eight years ago.

We had a warranty when we built this house and that warranty company went out of business. My brother has been a member with AHS for over 20 years now and he gave us this warranty company. So we contacted them and we had been with them ever since. We like American Home Shield. Customer service is in America and that really says something too because we can talk to them. They're really sweet people and they always help us. My son just bought a house and we sent them to AHS. They're going to get a warranty for their house.
When submitting a claim, I prefer talking to everybody there. They're super sweet people. But my husband works from home so he does it on the website. Usually, they say that the contractor will call us and they do. The contractor usually calls within the same day or if not, the next day. Recently, we had some leaky toilets and Mr. Rooter fixed them for us. Where it was leaking, it wasn't a standard part so they had to order it from the company for us. It was right when all the Coronavirus stuff started. They were getting the part from China so it took them a couple of weeks to get it. We've also had problems with a couple of the appliance people that they've sent out but overall, American Home Shield has been fantastic. They've sent out really great kinds.

I’ve had another company I’ve used for years to come out and clean the filters for maintenance kinda stuff, which isn’t covered by American Home Shield. I was complaining about one of the downstairs unit not heating so I called American Home Shield to find this out. My maintenance guy told me it was a certain kind of a valve. It ended up costing about 800 bucks. I read the ratings, and I didn't like the ratings of the Epic people. I called them and told them I’m kinda concerned. There’s a lot of negative stuff here. The rep said he would make sure to send out one of the more senior guys. So I waited, and they came out, they looked, and the tech went out. They said it was a breaker on the wall here.
There’s two breakers. One on the inside and one on the outside, plus that switch on the inside of the unit. I flipped the switch and it works like a charm. I asked the tech if he was sure that was the only problem and that maybe they turned it off because they knew there was some problem. He said no because the valve would have stained or made some kind of noise. He told me that everything else seemed to be working fine. So 109 was already spent. The unit has been working like a charm ever since. I scratched my head and wondered why am I throwing my money away on my maintenance guy. But I was very happy. The guy was very pleasant. They were quick coming out, and the tech seemed to know what he was doing.
I had a little trouble with a faucet here within a couple of months of getting the warranty. The guy came out and he seemed to know what he was doing. He put a little clogger gizmo in. So far, everything that American Home Shield had done has been fine. They've been very pleasant to deal with when you're on the phone. The people they’ve used so far have been knowledgeable and quite efficient and very pleasant to deal with. I’m happy.

I like to call my claims in with American Home Shield. When my garage door just wasn’t working, they assigned Sam’s Garage Doors to that claim. Their guy fixed it. But I don’t care for AHS because this was the only time they fixed something. Everything else had been an issue. I have a dishwasher that doesn’t work and they said it’s not their problem. I’ve been handwashing all my dishes and I’m just gonna have to buy my own dishwasher because I don’t how to fix mine. I sent pictures of what happens after I wash the dishes. The two technicians that AHS sent out lied. One person said he told me how to flush out the rinse compartment but he never said a word to me. I got a turkey baster and tried to do it myself after hearing that this could be done. It hasn’t helped with anything.
Also, my microwave finally got replaced but it was replaced with the wrong one. It took me almost a month for AHS to realize they made a mistake and to fix the issue. I had to make at least 20 phone calls. AHS needs to pick better vendors. It’s like I constantly have to call after these crappy vendors to come out for their $75-call and don’t do anything. Also, when you look at the vendors’ reviews, they have terrible ones. There was one instance when the heater on our spa wasn’t working. The first guy AHS sent out told us we needed to run new gas lines. The report I got from AHS stated that the guy said it was rat-infested and the gas lines needed to be redone. We just vacuumed it out and called another person. There was a part broken in there and the guy who came out replaced it in 10 minutes then it was fixed.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

We bought the house three years ago and we’ve already gone through a refrigerator and the stove that needed to be repaired. The people had a Samsung kitchen suite. They had the refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher. And so far, the refrigerator had an ice machine that just wasn’t repairable. We had water constantly coming out of the front door from the ice machine. So, we now have a GE refrigerator and Home Shield was helpful on that. It took a little longer because I live rural, and perhaps that’s a problem. Whoever Home Shield contracted with, he was difficult to deal with. He did not call back. Things were not done in a timely fashion and that unfortunately reflected badly on Home Shield when it was just who they contracted with. But now that they have Sears, we have zero issues and zero problems.
It didn’t sound like the oven's convection fan was working and the gas wasn’t igniting. That was sad. So, the oven filled up with gas but then it wouldn’t ignite. I put in a claim with Home Shield, Sears got in touch with me right away, and I didn’t have any more contact with Home Shield. It was all just through the Sears representative that came out. That guy was timely, professional, and did a great job. Home Shield needs to keep Sears. The oven is working great.

I can call American Home Shield and report anything, and it’s only $75 for them to come out to fix it. The people that they send out are reputable and professional. So I’m not afraid. I’d get the text messages that the tech is coming, when they’re coming and how soon they’ll be here. So safety is a big thing and I really appreciate that. Then afterwards, I’d get a survey as to how well they did and then if something happens, I can call them back and cancel as long as the person has not shown up and they’ll refund the $75.
But I had two guys come out from TrueAir Solutions and I wonder if the Freon that the first guy put in is what messed up the system upstairs. He came out and said he knew exactly what was wrong. He fixed something on the outside and then he went upstairs and put some Freon in. But after he left, it started heating up to super hot even though it was on air and that wasn’t happening beforehand. When the second guy came out, he looked at it and said that the Freon that’s in there was faulty and that it was causing the system to not register correctly. So it was like really cold or really hot. He said all of the Freon in the system would have to be replaced in order to get it to working right and he would also have to fix another part in the attic because it was not reading correctly. Everything is working as it should be now.

I purchased the refrigerator on April 1 and I got it the same day. And when I got it, one of the features that I wanted and liked was the feature of the water dispenser and ice. And so, I couldn't get it. The technician plugged it up and he put the handles on and left. He did draw some water from the refrigerator before he left. He told me that I was to not drink the first two gallons of water or use the first tray of ice and that I should dispose all of that. And so, it was the next day that I went to pour water so that I could drink it. But I didn't get any water. It didn't respond at all. And I looked at the ice tray and there was no ice in the tray. So it had not worked at all.
I called them and they sent a technician out and he worked on it. And he didn't really tell me what was wrong. The only thing he said was that something was causing the filter to freeze and that it had frozen and burst. And that he would have to get a new filter. He'd have to replace it, so he left. And he came back about four days later with a new filter and he put that in. And when he left, water was able to be dispensed from the door. No ice was made at that time but he felt like everything was okay.
He wasn't discourteous and he seem to know what he was doing. When he left, he left me with the understanding that he had replaced this broken piece and that it was gonna work. I wasn't dissatisfied when he left. It was the next day that the same thing happened that it happened before. We went to get the water, to try to dispense water and no water came out, and still no ice. So then we called again and they sent someone out again. This time, it was a different person.
The man came in here Friday. He said it was wired incorrectly and they had called GE. And he had decided that he knew what was wrong with the refrigerator. So he came in here with a huge box to replace this big piece. He pulled it out and he put the new piece in. But he told me that there was a faulty in the wiring of the refrigerator. I looked at the piece that he pulled out and the piece looked to me like somebody had wrapped masking tape on the back of it. I said, "You took that out of this new refrigerator with masking tape on it?" He said, "That's the way it was made." I said, "I've never seen anything like that." But it was like somebody had tried to make it over or repair it or what.
He started fixing the wiring. He said he had repaired that. And he left it. But when he left, he said he was gonna stand there and make sure that the refrigerator was working properly. He stood for a long time. And the temperature, he set it but it wouldn't move. And so, he removed the filter. He left that in a glass. And then he told my husband to put it back in after a while. So wait a few hours and when it registered properly, to put the filter back. That was Friday.
And as of today, Monday, he has not put the filter back in because it's not registering properly. And so, we called last night, to Lakeside, to report the problem, to ask if they would send that repairman back. And we asked if they would call us. By 9:20 this morning, no one had called. I asked my husband to make a call and he did. And they called him back. Somebody's supposed to be giving us a call. So we're still sitting here with this refrigerator, not making any ice, not dispensing any water and the warm refrigerator part. My thought right now is I don't want the refrigerator. And I'm planning to tell them to just come and get it.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

My first email to American Home Shield was that I had a dishwasher leak and then, I emailed them and I told them it may not be a dishwasher leak but a plumbing leak. The contractor came out and he was nice and did a good job. He found out that it was a plumbing leak under the hose. He said that the original builder didn’t put a little seal in so it wasn’t covered. He then contacted Moen and was able to get the part sent to me. He was gonna put it in but he was gonna charge me $75 to do it, which would have been welcome, except that it was such an easy thing that I did it myself.
I won’t be renewing with AHS. It wasn’t difficult to submit a claim to them but in my first one, I paid $100 and wasn’t able to get the repair done. They need to work on communication. Someone should be there who could filter the call and be able to say that it was a leak under my sink and that they were gonna send the plumber out. If I agree, then I’m willing to pay the $100. You almost have to self-diagnose. I’m a senior citizen with a disabled husband. So, for me, I need somebody who could diagnose it to at least give me some help but it was all done online.

I talked to a representative like, “What if I’d like to add an item?” and the rep had no idea what I was talking about. I got through a supervisor who also didn’t know what I was talking about. They don’t know the products they’re selling. This took like 45 minutes when she said, “Oh, pick one where?” I was getting an estimate of what that extra item is gonna cost me for a serviceman to come out and I got a big fat runaround.
Their people used to be out of like Georgia and it was pretty easy to talk to them and set up an appointment. But they’re hiring people that don’t have English as their primary language and they have no idea. If you ask them anything besides having a serviceman come out, they have no idea what the heck they’re talking about. Other than that, Home Shield has been fine and they’ve honored things. We’ve had two fridges that were not cooling and they wrote us checks and that was no problem. Things have gone wrong and they’ve sent somebody out and they get fixed pretty good. Our heater would not turn on. The technician from A-US Air Conditioning thought we were going to need a new thermostat, so he poked around with that. He put new batteries in and looked at the unit. Then it was good to go. About a month ago, I went online to request service for our refrigerator. AHS sent me an email saying that Superior Appliance would call me. This was on a Sunday night. I called them right back when I got the email because I had told them that Superior had been out to fix my dishwasher last year and the fella they sent was so incompetent that I couldn’t stand it. So I requested this time that you switch contractors. But when I called back, I got this young woman on the phone, and I could hear a baby in the background. She had a very thick accent and you could tell she was reading from a script. She said should check and then there was nowhere in my notes in their system that I asked not to have Superior come out again.
I couldn’t get anywhere with her, so I got off the phone, and I sent an email to Amanda, the district rep. She wrote back and said she referred me to Maria who basically told me the same thing and that I’d have to stick with Superior since I had already started with them. This was falling on deaf ears. Then Maria sent me a email last week and asked if I had heard from Mike, the owner of Superior. I told them that I hadn't heard from anybody. Friday came and he was supposed to call me Friday to set something up for Monday. So at 10 minutes to 5:00 last Friday, I called and I said that I hadn't heard anything. Then on Monday, Mike didn’t call. I waited all day. Maria wasn’t in on Monday, so I sent another email to her and asked her to call me.
Then late in the day, I sent another email to Amanda to give her the update that I hadn’t heard from anybody. So, another rep called me from the AHS office on Tuesday morning and said that Mike was supposed to call. I told them that I was tired of hearing this. Mike never called. She then said the he was supposed to get here by Thursday. That was four more days.
I talked to Maria on Tuesday afternoon and she asked if I would still wait for him. I said no and I asked if they could get Mr. Appliance of East Texas here. They had sent Mr. Appliance here years ago and I was very pleased with them. She got back on the phone and said they Mr. Appliance would l contact me. So, I hung up because I knew they would call me and they did. Mr. Appliance is always very nice. Amanda initially had said sorry that I was experiencing this. But the other two girls have never said they’re sorry. They're trying to take care of things, but not in the correct way.

They were at our place in three or four days and the tech who came out was courteous. He figured out what my issue was and did a great job. Things have been working well with my AHS warranty. It's definitely worth it.

The customer service sucks. My microwave broke. Home Shield refused to replace it because they said a power surge fried it, even though an electrician told me something different. They didn’t even bother to tell me they denied the claim. I had to call for a follow-up because the appliance guy told me, “Yeah, they’ll come out and replace it once they tell us to go ahead.” And I never heard anything again. So, when I called them, “Yeah, it was denied.” “Well, why?” And that was after three calls because the previous person told me, “Well, we’ll research and get back to you,” but nobody ever did. Home Shield also said if they had to send another person for another opinion and they disagreed with me, then I would have to pay another $125. So, I’m canceling my contract as soon as it’s up. Don’t waste your money. In the long term, I’ve spent more than I’ve gotten out of it. It's not worth it.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

I have two properties on American Home Shield. I've been with them a long time, probably 23 years, and I've always been happy with them. However, the website works about 80% of the time. Sometimes, it's a little glitchy when filing a claim. You'll submit and it doesn't submit. It goes back to the beginning. I had to submit one claim twice because it ignored it after I hit submit. But other than that, it works.
I had a stinky smell under the house. We thought the sewer pipe was broken. I also had a leak in the plumbing in my washer and dryer faucet. On both claims, the plumber did a great job. He got on the ground, looked under the house, and figured out that our sewer pipe from the toilet was not leaking. He found the runoff where it was coming from the rainwater. We have a door that goes under the house, and it was leaking in there and funneling to a low spot right under where it was stinky and made a puddle that turned into a swamp. He said our plumbing was fine. He went and repaired the leak for the washing machine faucet. He showed me the bad part on the pipe and replaced it, and it was all good. It hasn't leaked since.
He was very professional. He wore gloves and a face mask and stayed 6 feet away. He showed me everything as he went. He didn't make me guess. He changed the gloves twice because he was switching jobs and he went back outside and did some writing. When he took his gloves off, he put fresh ones on to finish it up and he did not have me sign the paper. He got my permission to sign it for me so that I wouldn't have to touch his ink pen.

The normal process with American Home Shield is I make the call, and within a day or so, the service company calls me, and then they come out. DNB Plumbing Home Services came a recent claim. Water was backing up in a pipe and I needed that cleared. Contractors usually do a good job. AHS handled the plumbing claim fine, but my oven situation was handled poorly and I’m dissatisfied. In fact, I requested help on it in January. There is a plan in place to replace it, but we’re three and a half months out now. Most of the other times that I’ve called them out, they’ve done exactly what they said and exactly when it was gonna happen. Everything went perfectly. But with the oven they just kept putting me off.
The service company came out four times but I did not get a resolution until a week ago. They said, “We’re not gonna be able to fix it. We have to purchase another one.” The timeliness of the whole thing has just been really poor, especially with Coronavirus now. We need someplace to cook at home and I don't have an oven anymore. It’s been pretty dramatic around the house.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for my AC unit and their contractor, CityLine Air Conditioning, came out to do service. Things went nice and easy. The blower motor of my unit needed replacing. Some dirt and dust got caught in there and shortened its life a little bit. The techs had to order the parts needed. Still, the resolution was quick.
Home Shield's process has been pretty good. It's tricky now though and their system makes it cumbersome if I have two different things that I'm working on. I could have a plumbing job and an HVAC job and I would have two groups coming out to my place. Still, I've been able to leverage my warranty a bit now. Things have been good with AHS.

On Friday night our Fridge quit working. When we found it was out the next morning we contacted Home Shield to get someone out to fix the problem. The first company they provided did not call us so I called them, but they were closed on the weekend. I called back to Home Shield and explained to a second person that the company they provided was closed and could she find another company that was available to look at my fridge. She said she would and stated that she found another company and that they would be calling right away as she upgraded our issue to urgent since all of our food was spoiling. That company did not call us so I called them, and they were closed for the weekend as well.
When I called back to home shield once again, I could not get anyone to help. The only thing they would continue telling me is that they were sorry, but that does not fix the problem, they would not find another company that might be open, nor would they allow me to find a company and have the bill sent to Home Shield. In short this company has your money and the service charge for calling in, and they did not provide me with a quality customer service experience. Now I have to throw out hundreds of dollars of food and being on a retired budget this is going to be hard to make up.

When I first started with Home Shield, there was some issue with documentation on my end and two different people called to confirm the same thing. It was super smooth and seamless. Our AC unit stopped cooling, which was a little concerning for us because we just got it installed early last year. We filed a claim and Alan from A-US was a very nice tech. He was wonderful and he worked quickly. He asked for me to open doors especially with the pandemic and the current climate. I completely understand that it was also a self cleaning mechanism that he had, that he was thoughtful enough to ask for that and not just doing it on his own and to keep from touching things. He was super efficient in a lot of ways. He said there was a coil that was blown and he had the parts with him already, so kudos for being prepared. There was nothing about the visit I didn’t enjoy.

I have two homes and I renewed my other one. I was gonna use American Home Shield but their fee is higher than most people. And if you have a Freon issue, other people don’t charge the extra Freon that American Home Shield does. Also, it’s hard to get through to American Home Shield on the phone. It takes forever. So, it’s easier if you booked everything online with them. I was worried that the AC was running too much and maybe it was low on Freon. The guy came out, put the thing, checked it and said that there was nothing wrong with my unit. He was friendly, nice and professional. He came on the same day I called. I have had issues before which took forever but maybe because of this Corona thing, people are not busy. Most of the time, it takes several days for them.

They talked to a contractor and they couldn't get through. We called one day, at least by the day after, because it was the weekend and the tech didn't show up, and told the customer service what was going on. Home Shield followed up and then they finally sent somebody. He finally came out the following week. At the time of this social distancing and all that, he told me, “So, basically, it’s all on me.” He went over there and just took care of it. We’re on our second annual cycle with American Home Shield. They are really an excellent organization. I have a claim that’s still going on. J & A did an excellent job. My refrigerator was going out. I called American Home Shield and opened a trouble ticket. They sent J & A out. They replaced one piece of equipment and then within two days, it started dripping ice again. They came back out and said that the refrigerator needed to be replaced. American Home Shield offered me a replacement refrigerator or just an eGift Card to Home Depot. All that worked fine, but I'm still waiting for a refrigerator from Home Depot.
American Home Shield did their job, J & A did their job. But Home Depot postponed our delivery three times. It was supposed to be April 8. I bought the item on April 1st, then they postponed it to April 15, then yesterday, they postponed it to April 21st. When I couldn’t get in touch with Home Depot at the store, I went down there and spoke with the manager who just said, “We can’t escalate, we can’t expedite. This Coronavirus is giving us problems. You can have your money back.” For me to get my money back now gets really complex because I opened a credit card. I put part of the payment on the credit card above and beyond the gift card price. So, I'm just waiting for a refrigerator.
If you’re in a house that’s more than 15 years old, you should have coverage on your house for appliances, air conditioning, heating and things like that, because eventually these things are gonna go out. My AHS warranty pretty much covers what I paid for since the beginning of this contract. We’ve used them twice for major repairs. I've had somebody out about four times for very minor stuff where it cost $100 to bring somebody out to look at and fix the problem, and if they can’t fix it, then they take it from there to escalate it. So, I'm happy that I have that kind of a contract. I'm very happy that I have American Home Shield.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a year and I have another property with them. With our claim for the AC, because of the COVID thing that's going on, the technician didn't even have to come into the house, which was helpful. He assessed the situation and did what he had to do with the outside unit and all went well. We have an AC that's working. It was perfect. I had a dishwasher that was serviced about a year ago and it's functioning from the mechanical standpoint but my dishes don't come out clean. They come out with little residue and it's just the quality of the machine itself. So, I opted to wait till I've saved my money to buy a new one because I don't think it's gonna break down.
I understand the policy with the way it's set up. If AHS can't fix it, then it gets replaced. I wish there was some way to have some type of program where there is a portion for things that are not meeting their standard even after they're functioning. If there could be a percentage discount, where maybe I could buy through their buyer because I'm sure they are much cheaper than Lowe's and Home Depot, that would be a huge help because I wouldn't mind spending. If I could get a good working dishwasher for a few hundred dollars, I'd be willing to pay right now but if I go to Home Depot or Lowe's, it's gonna be 400 plus installation. So, I'm saving right now.

So, it couldn't be done as quickly as I thought, but it was just a diverter. It was a very simple fix. The guy came, fixed something really quickly, and he was gone. After I saw him do it, I said, "Well, shoot. I coulda, I just didn't." They did it and that was the end of that. It was one of those things. Our furnace had an igniter that died on it and the heater wasn’t kicking on. We have the kinda seesaw weather out here so it’s getting pretty cold and luckily, we set up the appointment through Home Shield. They contacted Weatherwise and it was suggested that we contact Weatherwise as well just to try and facilitate the appointment. When we called them, we were a little bit worried because it was a Friday and they had an automated message that said it was their high season and with everything that had been going on, they were also really busy. So, they said that if we didn’t catch them in the early morning when they were doing their scheduling, we might not get in. But as luck would have it, I left a message and about 10 minutes later, Weatherwise called. They said they could be out in a few hours and when they did, they handled the job. Everything was great and went super smoothly.
Other than that, we have AHS for at least 10 years now and every experience we’ve ever had has been perfect. We had their warranty on other houses that we’ve been in in the past and in this specific home, we have them since October. So far, we’ve never had any difficulty with them. But at one point when we first transitioned into this new house, there was a glitch in the transfer of policy and it took 20 minutes for them to sort it out. They were saying that they they didn’t send out this mailer or that it went to the wrong address. But they quickly resolved it and they said there was no problem with the claim that we were trying to submit at that time. So, it wasn’t a big deal.

I submitted a claim to AHS because I had a broken sump pump. Submitting the claim was very easy. For this one, I called somebody, and then tracked it online. So, they were very gracious. They came in, they told me what was required, got an authorization and then replaced it. I switched from Sears back to American Home Shield. I used to be with American Home Shield. And last time, the reason I quit was I had a $600 Casablanca fan that had failed like three years ago. And the contractors came in and put in a cheap $69 Home Depot fan and I was very upset. I didn’t realize that when they make a change, they don’t see which brand you have. If they had kept it, I would’ve paid to have somebody service it. So, at that point, I'd discontinued it and started Sears.

I have had problems with my refrigerator where they sent two different companies out a couple of times each to try and fix it. When I have had problems with the repairman that have come out, I called back and I could not get a supervisor or customer service. They sent me straight to the sales department again. And a lot of times, they said they would go ahead and send another repairman out without addressing what my problem and concerns were. They finally were not going to fix it anymore saying it was working fine, but when I talked to customer service, they read that there was something wrong and the last solution of the repairman was to move things from different shelves and keep it off of this shelf. That was not acceptable, so they finally agreed to replace the refrigerator. American Home Shield is supposed to be sending me an e-card to replace my refrigerator, but I still have not received it.
I have also had a couple experiences, like when I originally called for the refrigerator, they sent someone out immediately and they took care of it immediately. When I called about my light fixture in my kitchen, we figured out it was a $19 ballast that could be gotten anywhere, and it took them months to replace that because it was too small of a job for them to come and do it. I then went over a month with no light in my kitchen ceiling.

We had some faulty wiring in a light fixture in our dining room and it started smoking. My wife called to request for a service and she said that it was good dealing with the AHS reps. The electrician called us and said that he would plan to be out between 10:30 AM and noon. He said he would call half-hour prior to showing up. We waited until 1 o’clock and we didn’t hear a phone call. So, we called Home Shield to follow-up and see where things were at. They informed us that the electrician showed up at 9 AM and he said we weren’t home. He said that he called, but we never got a phone call. He even took a picture but we were still living at our apartment at the time, so we weren’t here. We needed that phone call so we could have time to get here so we could open the door and he could come in. So, we scheduled a new appointment. I called to do that myself and it worked out just fine.
The electrician came out and he said it was all original wiring, and there was an exposed wire in the ceiling, so he cut the wires back a little bit, attached some new wires with insulation on them and it was good to go. They were very knowledgeable, easygoing, and nice to talk to. Everything has been fine since the repair. We did have one issue where our exterior light wasn't working, so he had to come back. He recognized his mistake right away. One of the wires wasn’t attached so he fixed it in about 10 minutes. It works fine ever since then.

We were getting an error message on our water heater and it was beeping. So, we put in a warranty. At first, American Home Shield sent a plumber. That plumber said that he was not HVAC-certified, so we needed to have an electrician come out. AHS made all of that happen and Total Air Care came out. But the electrician said that it was a plumbing issue so he went back to AHS. AHS then sent Hers & His Plumbing. There was an issue with the condensating line and the water was backing up which was causing the error message. So, it needed to be slanted and the guy did that. It took him about 10 minutes.
I did the initial claim online and after that, each time someone came, it was initiated through them sending their report back to American Home Shield. Then, we would get a contact that someone else was coming. The first guy came within a couple of days but that was in the midst of all of this stuff that’s going on, all of the COVID stuff that started happening. So, it was a matter of coming out at a safe time but everything was handled within a week. Everything was wrapped up.
The first guy who came wasn’t able to do what needed to be done or so he thought. Then, the electrician who came out was very nice and he took the time to explain to us why he could not handle it. The last person who came out was very courteous and he told us what needed to happen. He explained to us that it was going to take a longer period of time for him to fix what needed to happen, he went over the cost with us and it didn't end up taking that, it took eight minutes and that was it. Everybody was good and appropriate. I didn’t have a problem with anybody that came. Everybody who came explained what needed to be done and American Home Shield followed it through and it was done. This was our first time having a claim and I was pleasantly surprised that it went as smooth as it did.

My recent claim with AHS went well. I went online, got it logged in and had a call back from the contractor pretty quick. He came by first to see, to make sure that he had what he needed, which I appreciated that. Sometimes you have contractors show up, “Oh, I don’t have this.” Then it turns into several days waiting. But he came prepared. He was a very professional individual. I watched him do the work. I’m familiar with water well work and he was very attentive to detail.
I’ve learned that the hard way, when dealing with American Home Shield, sometimes you get aligned with a contractor and the contractor is nowhere near what I would expect. So now, whenever I get a contractor assigned to me, I immediately go online and see what customer reviews are for this contractor. This contractor was 5-star, which I was very pleased with, and he validated those 5 stars perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better contractor.
It was a pleasant phone call with American Home Shield as a follow up to make sure I understood what was covered, what was not being covered and what part I was responsible for. If every single American Home Shield transaction would take place like that, my overall general opinion of home warranty companies would improve greatly.

So, the home warranty was not that useful for me. When I used AHS before, there was some leaking from the air conditioner that summer and the contractor came. I had to call American Home Shield and sit on hold for about 15 minutes a couple of times ‘cause they kept saying that they had sent the information over to Greenway, and Greenway wasn’t receiving the information for some reason. American Home Shield should make sure the appointment goes through, verify it, and call back the customer so they don't have to sit on hold. Other than that, everything was good. They told us to wait 24 hours to hear from AHS and if they hadn’t, we should call them back, which AHS sent us a letter stating that they were gonna replace it.
I was told to reach out to someone for our refrigerator and they were gonna replace it. We put the order in but they were talking about not bringing us the refrigerator until the end of April. So right now, we still don’t have a refrigerator and we have spoiled food sitting in our house. It can be because we’re in the middle of a pandemic and their hands are tied and they can't do anything. So we are just waiting now to see if they’re gonna deliver a refrigerator to us.

I was not happy with the provider I had previously and AHS came highly recommended. My parents have them. Their website is very user-friendly. With my previous provider, I'd be waiting for weeks to get something back online. During the couple of claims we've had with AHS, the providers have been amazing and responded right away. With the AC, the contractor was able to do the repair right then because he had the part. The garage door guy didn't have the part with him, but he was there the next day and fixed it.

I've had American Home Shield for almost 10 years. I left them for two years to another company, which I was very disappointed with. I then came back to AHS three years ago and I’m fine with them right now. I've had a few calls and one of the contractors that came was Axis Appliance Repair. They came and they did the job. The icemaker was not working and the mechanism of the knob on the washer machine was broken. They ordered the parts, and they came and replaced them. Now, everything is fine.

I sell real estate and I usually recommend American Home Shield. They’re rated one of the higher ones. They did great in my claim with the door. It didn’t open and the spring had broken. I called AHS and then, they called the door company. The technician showed up right on time and came within 24 hours, which was good because my car was locked in the garage. He was very polite, and he did his thing and took care of business. Everything seems to be working fine since then but right now, I have another claim that hasn’t been fulfilled yet. AHS gave me the microwave but the contractor came out and said that he had to ask them about something. I haven’t heard back since then and that was weeks ago.

Having a home warranty is very important. I had one in Nebraska and they did a very good job. One thing that they did there with the American Home Shield, they did have a checkup every two years. One year, they would inspect your furnace and the next year, they would inspect the air conditioning and then they’d turn it around. So, they knew it was a service call. And I never did have to have anything replaced because they always serviced everything every other year. And with them servicing the thing, I never had anything go completely wrong. One time when they serviced the air conditioner, it needed a new motor. So, they did it right away. The air conditioner lasted a long time after they kept it serviced. Recently, Scott Heating & Air came out and it went fine. The contractor was very efficient and did a good job.

I was not impressed with another company that I had before and I heard good things about American Home Shield, which was why I went with them. It got a little testy for a little bit but in the end, everything worked out great and I had a decent service. The only problem I had was the time that it took to go through the authorization process. But once that was done and then once the people got out here to do the work, it was great. The contractors were very polite and professional. They communicated well what the problem was. I’ve always appreciated that the service people could talk their own lingo but then when they talk to me, they would break it down to me in terms I could understand. So, that was good.

I had protection with American Home Shield from the previous house and had been satisfied with it, so I went ahead and purchased my own. My experience has been good.
When our furnace was not working properly, I did a claim and they sent F.J. Murphy & Son. They did an excellent job. AHS said that they had submitted a request to the contractor that it indicated who would be coming out and that they should be reaching out to me but if that didn’t happen, I should contact AHS. But F.J. contacted me in a timely manner. They were very professional, and they did the job in a quick manner.

I had Sigmond Plumbing come out a few weeks ago and then I had to have them come back. The faucet that was broken. They put a new faucet on and then I had water pouring out from this little cabinet underneath the faucet. I was in a panic and I was even trying to call American Home Shield ‘cause I thought I had water coming through the wall and I thought that my ceiling was gonna fall on the first floor. But it was the seal between the faucet and the counter wasn’t capturing so anytime my kids were washing their hands and splashing, whatever water they splashed on the counter was then falling in that where there was no seal. So that was water that had accumulated for two weeks underneath in the little cabinet and it started coming out of the edge and through the cabinet.
The guy came out and he took the faucet back off and he fixed the seal with a plumbing putty. Now it’s not leaking anymore. The faucet seal shouldn’t have been leaking in the first place and I shouldn’t have had to pay $100 for you to come out and fix the seal on something that they just installed. But they were so nice. They were awesome, very lovely and polite. They were using all their PPE and like physical distance and all that stuff.

AHS should have a consistent person coming back, though I know it's a little difficult now. For our recent plumbing claim, a previous plumber didn't answer and was kinda standing around listening. I almost felt like he didn't know what he was talking about and he was saying some nonsensical answer that didn't sound right. It was a ridiculous answer that even basic common sense people would say that it was not it. We have dual showers and they're exactly the same. And his answer that a particular part leaked a lot didn't fly. One shower is linked to the other, they're the same tubing, and they're coming from the same port. So, why would one be leaking but the other wouldn't? Then he left but the problem wasn't solved.
At that point, maybe there should be a feedback from the customer to say whether the plumber was helpful or knowledgeable or solved the problem. We could've said that that was a stupid answer and that the shower was still not working, because then we had to call AHS again and they had to pay for somebody to come out, which in turn made us pay for someone to come back out, which was annoying. The first plumbing company's name was A1 and they kept coming back giving wrong answers.
Then, another guy from Plumber's Inc. came out and started speaking a little more reasonably. He said that the problem could be this, or it could be that, and if it gets to that point, we don't have to go through the tiles and really ruin the shower. We'll go through the wall behind it, which makes sense. Right now, the plumber has to replace the cartridge. If that doesn't work, then we have to replace the valve and he'll go through the wall if needed. So, he came out just to see what's going on, and that indeed, it's not fixed yet. It's so weird. We also had to pay for ourselves in fixing the water pressure, the regulator outside in front, which was a good 700 bucks. We tried everything and we've also tried changing the showerhead.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had like two claims in a matter of a week with American Home Shield. The one for the garage door went wonderfully. A gentleman from Choose The Right Door was very knowledgeable, courteous, and the whole nine yards. He fixed the problem. The other issue was regarding the air conditioning. There were problems with the ductwork in the attic. It was coming apart and it was not normal wear-and-tear. I told AHS that I don't have any rodents and I go out there. I’m 57 and I’m by myself. The only ones that have been up there in the last four years were the techs and they've been here on and off quite a bit. At least a couple of times a year, I would call on AHS to have something fixed regarding the air conditioning or a clog in the air conditioning upstairs. The techs would go into the attic. It was not like I was pulling anything apart in there.
I called AHS and wanted to talk to a supervisor because they denied having the few air ducts up there to be replaced. After talking to a supervisor, she said she would send somebody else over. I’m like, “Yeah, to tell me what? The same thing?” I get it if I had a family or a bunch of people here. People probably go up and down. But the problem was either normal wear-and-tear or the people that American Home Shield had come here might have accidentally pulled something off.
The people that came out the second time gave me a quote to get all this stuff done and it was like 10 grand. One tech was telling me to replace all this and that and that they would get me new air conditioning. I get the quote to get all the new stuff but my whole thing still is, “Is this stuff gonna be fixed through American Home Shield?” I’ve had the home warranty for years now. I’m still waiting to see if any of the ductwork would be replaced but I haven’t heard anything. It’s like two bedrooms that the AC is going to and not all the rooms upstairs. But some of them, it’s creating this black and funky mold stuff, which I finally was able to clean up. I've had to wait for technicians to come to see it. That has been three weeks now.
I’d like to get that ductwork replaced that’s coming apart. I pay $57 a month and I got the bigger plan. So many people have been in that attic from different air conditioning places and plumbing places. That’s what I don't get and I would want an answer. I thought by having the second person come. I would at least get a callback saying, “We had the second guy out there, a different person, and he said this, or he said that.” But since I didn't hear anything back from American Home Shield, where do we go from here? I couldn’t believe I did my garage right after that. I’m like, “You’ve gotta be kidding me. More money going out?“ But at least he was a very pleasant experience.

Bissett Plumbing came out and had done a preseason inspection. And in that inspection, the contractor found out that something was messed up. So he converted that call into a service call, and then came out and completed that. Then, I got back in touch with him because one of my inside units was leaking water profusely. I made another claim with AHS and he called me again and said that would be covered under that previous order because it was neglected to be fixed or addressed.
He was putting in a new coil system in the inside unit. 'Cause it was leaking Freon which was causing it to freeze over and leak water. He was out there two days ago then diagnosed the issue of the leaking Freon and had to get the part. The contractor was great. I like him enough to trust him about leaving the key under my front door, under the doormat and letting him in. He's a good guy. Everything I've done with AHS has also been addressed in a timely manner and taken well care of.

I know American Home Shield prorates appliances but the washer was like 10 years old so I figured it was time. In fact, I’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years, since I moved into this house, and the service is very helpful.
J & A is one of the better people that have come out. I love Cool Air, J & A, and the plumber. The appliance providers before that weren’t as awesome. But J&A was very professional, prompt and respectable. If they wanna come and take the new part off within the next week before the new washer arrives, I would be so happy. I’m a recycler. Recently, the dryer has been having some issues. It was wigging out, stopping and making all kinds of noises. Initially, I called for a service request then someone came out and looked at it. They said they don’t do gas and it was my fault because I was not aware the dryer was gas. It plugs into the wall, but it was just with electronic. I called back American Home Shield and told them they didn't do gas, that I needed someone else.
They sent me another company. I called them, and they don’t do gas either. I contacted American Home Shield today again and told them I needed to get someone out here who does gas dryers and who will fix this thing. It's frustrating trying to find a contractor that wants to come out here and look at this thing, but they've been trying to set up another contractor. I got the information on a company and I've called them and left messages, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. Other than that, every other call I put out on American Home Shield, they've responded quickly.

We had some work done to our septic tank, and evidently, the guy from Passion Service Pro that put that new pipe in had to make a new access hole for the pipe. There was something that was hanging up the toilet paper because the line kept getting stopped up. The guy just kept flushing it until he got it unstopped. But he was very nice and he did a good job.
And then, last summer, we had an electrical issue and Home Shield sent an electrician out. The guy said he had to replace the breaker box. He went to get the whole box in the wall, brought it, put it in, and it was about two inches too small completely around the sheetrock. He left it like that and said, "I don't do sheetrocks." And here, our wall was open with a breaker box that was smaller than what's in there. So, that was pretty bad.
Get more local people because the ones that Home Shield calls out here to work on our stuff is from Biloxi and we're in Carriere, which is over an hour away so it takes them longer to be able to get to us than normally would. We were having issues with the septic tank on Friday or Thursday, and the guy couldn't get here until Monday.
Get feedback and see what other people's experiences are. My two sons have had the home warranty and my youngest son had to replace his AC unit. He purchased a new house and it came with a warranty, and it was the same company, and they wouldn't give him his money back. He had to come out of pocket to buy his unit, yet he has a warranty. So, I had good experiences, but my son had really bad experiences.

There is no electricity going to my water heater so I had no hot water. Brutinel Plumbing & Electrical was able to help that day though they had to come out twice, which was annoying. The first time they came out, they had to replace a part on the water heater. And the next day, because the drain on the side of my house that's where the water heater would normally leak out, was steady leaking all over my sidewalk, in my rocks, and right up against my house. They had to come back out and fix that too. So whatever they did to the water heater, it caused that drain to start leaking.
The process of submitting the claim was easy. It was a little confusing because I had to do it online the first time and they sent just a plumber out. And they charged me $75 for that. I don't know why they didn't just send that guy out the first time because when I had to pay $150 for them to come out three times and over a course of four days it took for this to get done.
I feel like if they're going to choose the company that's supposed to come out to me to fix it, they should be choosing somebody that can come out and fix it right the first time, not charging me multiple times. Also I feel they need to do some more research and figure out exactly what the customer needs before they go charging them and sending people out that can't do anything for them.

When I had a plumbing issue, I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and their contractor, C Mayes Plumbing and Heating came out. The claim went pretty well. C Mayes showed up on time and their tech got the work done really fast. He replaced the sump pump but there is a leak from the new equipment that he installed. The pump itself isn't leaking but the piping that comes out of the ground next to our drying machine is. There are a couple of rubber fittings with some clamps on there that he added which leak. Every time the sump pump discharges water to try to get it out, the leaking happens.
I’ve tried tightening the clamps to no avail. Water still leaks out. Right now, the leaking is only on top of the round metal cover for my pit so it's not a big deal. C Mayes followed up after the work was done and I told them that when it's a little safer and they have some extra time if they could give me a call back and let me know in getting back out here. Still, they've done a good job.
I've been using Home Shield for years and years and we've enjoyed great service from them. They have been easy to deal with and they get people to our place on time. I’ve only had American Home Shield for one year and I’m new with them, but they seemed to take care of the problems that I had. I’ve had had to call in several times in this year and they’ve done everything that I needed. But when we had a hot water heater go out, I had to spend $500 out of pocket that I was kinda surprised. It was a new hot water heater but we could’ve want a cheaper way to do it. But maybe they wanted to make sure I have the best. Other than that, they seemed to do real good with everything else.
American Home Shield has an answering service when you call them, but some of the times you get somebody rugged in the answering service. There’s one lady that I got a couple times during this year, and I had to have my microwave fixed. I was trying to explain to her it’s a built-in microwave above my range but she kept trying to get the contractor to come out and fix a microwave and a range. I kept trying to tell her that that was not what I needed and I asked her if I could speak with somebody else. I had to do that three times with this one certain lady. She would tell to hold and I held on for 20 minutes and then she’d come back and say, “Oh, I so sorry. You cannot speak to supervisor. She’s in a meeting right now.” The department that they have answering their call for making a claim or to get something done is not all that great.
When I called back and got somebody else, this person has an accent and she was very sarcastic. I would ask to speak to a supervisor because I had a problem and I wanted to speak with someone else, but she was kinda determined not to let me speak with somebody else. I finally got ahold of somebody and I could tell from her voice that she must’ve been with the company for quite a while because she said, “I am so sorry for this experience. I will have you somebody out there tomorrow,” and she did. So I kinda appreciated it.

The wheels fell off. It was messing with the door closing. He fixed it all and it works good now. We were able to move it. A couple of years back we were at a tough time when the heat went out and I have kids, and this was and it was snowing. It was 55 degrees in our house, and I couldn’t get anyone to come out right away because a lot of people were having trouble. American Home Shield wasn’t going to reimburse for me to have somebody come, and it wasn’t an option. We had to have somebody come to fix it right then. It was like midnight.
After months of me, sending it in and calling, they finally reimbursed it. The guy charged us outrageous because it was at night and they were super busy but we had to have it fixed. We’re having an issue again. The furnace is not working. The tech came out last week and then we paid the thing, and then he came out again yesterday. And then, we woke up today and it was like 58 in the house. It’s not working. I sent him another text message just to see if he can come back out. He was just here yesterday and they're working on that.

I had called American Home Shield on the 29th. It was for a leak from the air conditioner. The bottom pan was leaking. It took Metro three days to comply. That made the leak worse. The water leaked in one of my bedrooms, and it leaked down to my kitchen ceiling twice. Now, the other problem I have is with my deductible. Our water irrigation did come out a couple of days ago. For them to repair this is gonna cost me out of my pocket $1,500, and that’s what I have a problem with. So, that’s why I have a problem with Metro. They’re supposed to be out between 12:00 and 2:00.
Yesterday, it was three weeks we've been in this home. It cost over $20,000 moving in this house. I’m retired. I don’t have money to just come out of my pocket with like that. Metro's reaction time is horrible. I was calling and the guy had an attitude when I was calling him about my leak. So, I wasn’t happy with the reaction time. But the technician that came out was good and American Home Shield was really nice on the phone when I talked to the lady named Amy. She was working with me trying to get this resolved. But in the meantime, I feel nobody's gonna take up this check for me to get this done. I shouldn't have to pay for this. My USA Homeowners called Home Shield about this because they weren’t happy at all. My property manager sent me an adjuster. She called, and she wasn’t happy at all.
When it comes to Metro's response time, I wouldn’t recommend them. Home Shield should get somebody else for the air condition service. Hornet Appliance Services was pretty good. When they came out the first time to check the problem out, they looked at and diagnosed the dishwasher. But when they brought the piece for the dishwasher, it wasn’t the right piece. So I’m still waiting on them to get back with me on that. Hornet has passed it on to American Home Shield and they rescheduled something else. I think they’re gonna send another dishwasher. I hope so. I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years now.

United Air Temp came out once but they didn’t have the part, which was okay. They don’t always get to read the comments that I put in. So then the tech had the piece shipped out here so I have it. But we were getting this COVID thing and I asked them to make sure the next guy wears a mask when he comes in because the first guy didn’t. I just wanted that. You have to go the extra yard. But when the guy called on his way here, he said he saw that I wanted him to wear a mask but that he doesn’t wear masks. He said I would have to call back and find somebody who would wear one. So then I had to call and reschedule because they couldn’t get somebody out that day.
They would’ve been here on Monday except that I got the news that a friend had lost somebody right at the time frame that United Air was gonna come out. I was helping that friend out and although United Air had somebody on their way, I couldn’t have him here. That was the following week, which was like three weeks from when they first came. But maybe I’ll give it a month. The issue with my dishwasher is a leak and right now I’m hoping it’s not leaking underneath, behind the sink, on my hardwood. But every time I do a wash, I put rags under it and I think I’m catching the leak.
I’ve had American Home Shield for other houses in the past. So far, I’ve had them now for two years and I get some peace of mind. When I have issues that come up, like when I had my air conditioner go, people come out and I’m not really sure what the problem is and I get upsold a lot. I feel like with American Home Shield, these guys are coming out to deal with the issue and they’re pretty much sticking with the issue to get the thing working. I don’t feel there’s much of a hard sell. Just the first time after I got American Home Shield and before that, I had somebody come out for an issue and it felt like they had created a problem that they kept having to come back on. When I had American Home Shield come out, it was not for the same issue but a similar issue, and they just took care of it. It was a remarkable difference.
The only thing is that sometimes when I finally get around to calling, like about this dishwasher, there will be one or two plumbing issues that I call up at the same time. I don’t mind doing an extra payment but it’s like each one of them has to be scheduled separately even if it’s the same people coming back out. So it needs more appointments and more follow up. What happened to me was while I was calling that I’ve got this other thing that’s leaking and not working, my water heater broke and I thought I gotta call about this dishwasher before I ruin the hardwood floor. It’s not a big deal that I made two different appointments and the contractor came out two different times but I wonder if there’s a way that I can pay two deductibles and knock it out at one time. That’s really the only thing. Otherwise, American Home Shield has been great.

There was a leak and All Hours Emergency Plumber had to replace a whole lot of the pipe. Then, they found that there was another leak in the part that they didn’t replace. And while they were cleaning out the pipe, there were some things that got into the line and they came out again to clear the line. The piping that was put together is slightly lower than it was before so now, there's still a leak, only it's from the bathroom sink where the pipe runs in where they put everything together. Other than that, the contractors did okay and they were very professional.

I have a claim for the icemaker and the contractors were fine. Two men came out at first and they tried to fix my refrigerator. They ordered a part and somebody else came back to put that on but the icemaker still wasn't working. Then, he realized it was the motherboard and he ordered that. He came back to put that on and realized the motor they put in before was dead. But then they called me to say that because of the pandemic, they were gonna have to close and I thought they were gonna contact American Home Shield. But Home Shield said they haven't received anything from the company.
They said they could send it out to somebody else and have them come out. I had to explain to them that I am a lung patient and I have two asthmatic children with me. At this time, I can't allow anybody to be coming in and out of my house. They kept telling me I'm in a contract and I asked if they could make allowances for me. They were saying if I refuse to let somebody come in because they have somebody that is willing to come in the house, then I will have to start all over again. And I don’t have $75 to start over and I cannot take the risk of having someone else come in. No one was listening. The rep wasn't rude but I didn't feel like I was being heard. I'm at a crossroads and I don't know what to do. I've never had a problem with Home Shield before. I understand that they have guidelines and things they have to stand by, but we are in a situation that we have not been in before. Other than that, American Home Shield has serviced me well, so far.

I like American Home Shield. They come out and do what they need to do, and they let you know what’s up. I had a recent plumbing claim and Hardy Plumbing came out. The guy from Hardy was very nice and he looked around. He was saying that there was a hole up in the roof part. He said because the floor on the attic was wet, the water was dripping down from up there onto the furnace. So then, I called my insurance company. They sent this guy out to check for the insurance, and he was saying that it wasn’t the roof and that the water was coming from a leaky pipe around the furnace itself. So now, I got somebody who will be coming out to check to see if it's the furnace or the roof.

Hazelett Appliance did another one of my claims, so everything went smooth and everything was fixed with my recent claim. It was fairly timely. The technician had to order a new part so just the time that it took for the part to come in. But then he came in and took care of it. He's pretty good too as well as asking ahead of time what the issue is so he can almost identify it beforehand and bring a part to see if it's that. So he didn't have to come back multiple times. It's extremely important to have American Home Shield. The first time I called to put in a claim, I wasn't aware of the process and I was waiting around for somebody to call me which took a couple of days, even almost two weeks. I'm only aware of the claims process now that I've been through it and it has been fairly easy.

With American Home Shield, I used to pay for the service when the service was rendered. I’ve had them before when I lived in Arizona. And now, they collect the money upfront before the service is even rendered. But I was really impressed with it. The last issue I had was a minor plumbing problem and the company contacted me right away. They said they’d probably get somebody out in 48 hours unless we had a cancellation, and then they called me up and said, “Hey, we can get somebody over there in two hours.” I live kinda in the boondocks, so I was very happy with the experience.
I work on the phone as well. It’s nice when someone says, “We’ll get out there within 48 hours,” and they’re out there the same day. That’s underpromising and overdelivering. It was an air conditioning system, and because I live in Florida, trying to get somebody out that day was something that was really important because the heat here is pretty intense just like Arizona is.
The company that came was very professional about the way they did it all. They contacted me. They emailed me, let me know the driver was on his way, and what the ETA time was, which was almost right on the minute. I would definitely recommend that company to be kept as one of American Home Shield's vendors. The service industry, to me, has gone down the tubes. People you call and they don’t show up. They make excuses. When you’re in the service industry, communication is key to keeping a person happy. “Hey, look. I’m running late. I know I said I’d be there at 12:00, but I’m gonna be there at 1:00.” That’s fine. I work out of my house so I’m home all day. It doesn’t matter. But the company that came went above and beyond not only to get me done the same day, but to inform me of their punctuality, which was outstanding.

I bought my home in ’09 and my mother told me that after about 10 years, you’re supposed to have a home warranty company. Last year, I had to replace my kitchen utensils, the fridge and everything. If I had American Home Shield, then I wouldn’t have had to do all that. But I did replace it. So, just in case, in the next 10 years, it’s covered with AHS. My neighbor next door has them and told me that it was a good service. When the fan on the AC wasn’t blowing, I called AHS and set up an appointment. I told them that the AC wasn’t working and they scheduled a company who called me the next day. When I called them back, they told me that it would be a week from the time that I called them. So, I called AHS and told them that it was unacceptable. I was without the AC already for three days at the time. So, they scheduled me with another company.
The person from that company called and put me on hold with AHS. They made sure that they had an open availability and it was for the next day. The guy was nice and he didn’t ring the bell. I was wondering why and he said that usually, when his appointment is before 9:00, he doesn’t want to wake anybody up, which is very respectful. Once he looked at the AC, he said he was gonna see if he has a universal motor in his car. There was one and so, he fixed the AC. If there was none, he would have had to wait to order.

The website was user-friendly, but I would prefer some options to choose a provider out of the ones that are contracted with American Home Shield. Usually when I make the request, they push an option to me versus me selecting. I’ve dealt with two or three providers and I would just prefer to be able to select which one. After making a request, I expect a call within about 24 hours to set up the appointment to make sure I’m available as well. In normal times, the contractors have been very professional. They keep their distance and they do their job, but they need to be mindful of washing their hands when they come in. It’s understandable though. When our faucet was leaking, we had Plumbing Enterprises change the faucet out. I got a new unit, they installed it and the leaking stopped. All in all, American Home Shield has been very pleasant. So, when the contractor came here, I didn't have what was necessary to put it back the way that it was. Letting people know would have been good and nice, but it’s minor. I have been without a washing machine for two weeks and the process took a little bit longer than I had hoped, but for the most part, it was good. It would be nice to have a little bit faster, but I'm not complaining about that. AHS saves some money and I'm grateful for that.
It was a good experience with AHS and I'm recommending to all of my friends and my family that they need to go this route. The only concern I have is that I'm not someone that takes advantage of the situation. I’ve been with American Home Shield since the 6th of March and this is the second time I’ve filed a claim. I'm grateful that they covered the washing machine, especially after having a hot water installed the week before. I was not even gonna submit a claim because it was so close to the water heater but I was kinda talked into it by my sister. I'm hoping now that I'm good because I don't wanna get thrown out of the program, but those two things were a big surprise.

At the time we were looking for something like a home warranty, I didn’t find anybody but American Home Shield. A couple of my neighbors recommended them too. They said they had good luck with AHS so, I went with them. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be. We’ve had them for years now and so far, so good. I’m 110% satisfied with them. Sometimes, they’re a little persnickety about what they cover and what they don’t. They are an insurance company, so sometimes they'll try to be stricter about certain things and that can rub you the wrong way especially if you’re trying to get your water heater replaced. But I haven’t had any trouble with the contractors. When I had a plumbing issue, the contractor was courteous, professional, came right on time, knew exactly what he needed to do and had no problem doing it. I couldn’t have been happier.

I always recommend American Home Shield to my friends who are purchasing a new brand new home for the first time. It's really easy making a claim with them. You go online, enter what the issue is then either you’re prompted to call this number and this company or they send somebody out. The only thing is there's pretty much just dropdown boxes kind of thing online. If you don't have anything from the dropdown box, you pick other. But it doesn't give you an opportunity to type in what the other is.
Other than that, everyone that American Home Shield sent out to our house fixed my issues. I've used them many times since I've had this house. They gave me John Hudgins Plumbing when I made a plumbing claim. There was a horrendous smell coming from my bathroom and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. But I knew it was a plumbing issue.

Comfort Pro showed up on time and took care of our AC and got it functioning again. The technician was clean and well-dressed. He knew exactly what to look for. He jumped up on a roof, came back down and said that it was a capacitor problem. He had a capacitor on his truck. He popped down to his truck and went back up on the roof and plugged it in. He was in and out in maybe 25 minutes. In my opinion, he did a really good job. He was knowledgeable and professional. American Home Shield does everything telephonically but they get things done. They are a little better than the other company I had before because AHS parcel out the service to various contractors versus my previous company where it was always their people. So a person who was a specialist in AC came out and fixed the AC.
When my dishwasher needed a repair, it needed a thermal switch replaced. Pro Appliance came out and replaced it, and then I found I had no hot water. So I called them back and told that their guy just came out and replaced the thing and now I had no hot water. So the Pro Appliance individual called me back and said that they talked to the technician and he said he did nothing that would've affected our hot water. So I called American Home Shield and I was assigned some plumbers.
The plumbers from Sogmond Plumbing were here at 12:15. They were both clean, put on booties, put on hands and they did everything right. They asked me to stay away and everything. Then they said that the problem was somebody turned off this part on the water heater. I told them that I got my dishwasher repaired. The guy looked up and said that they forgot to turn the hot water back on.
I called Pro Appliance and told them that I just paid $75 to have somebody come back out and turn my hot water back on. It was no big deal except that I felt like they should have come back out and turned back the hot water back on. Then Pro Appliance said they would take it up with management. My concern was I had no hot water and I couldn’t be waiting for two days because I had already been waiting for days.
Plumbing Enterprises was good. Two guys came out to do the thermostat on my hot water boiler. They were professional and courteous. I told them what was going on and they told me what was happening. They told me the thermostat didn’t work and that maybe I needed a new water boiler. They called Home Shield back. The techs put in a new thermostat and so far, that seemed to have been the issue. Total Air Care came out for our AC unit. First, they said it was a thermostat and they replaced it. It had cooled down. By the next week, when it warmed back up, the tenant realized it was not producing cool air. Total Air came back out and gave us an invoice that said it needed 10 pounds of Freon, or that we could replace the whole unit. That Sunday, I got a call from American Home Shield. Total Air told them that it was the condenser and it wasn’t covered because of storm damage. But there was no damage to that unit. It had run all last year. American Home Shield said they could send someone else from a different company out. They sent a tech Advantage who did diagnostics and determined that it was two capacitors and that the unit only held 7 pounds of Freon.
The thing that concerned me about Total Air was that they didn't know the tenant wasn’t the homeowner and she was an elderly woman. Were they trying to commit fraud against that elderly woman? It upsets me that someone would try to take advantage of the elderly. I don't know that AHS wants those people representing them. It was either incompetence on the company or Fraud on the company. But if it needed Freon, why didn’t they diagnose that when they were first there? Why would they also give the tenant an invoice that said, “Freon or a new unit,” which tenant declined because it's not her home. Then, American Home Shield called and told me that it was the condenser and that it’s not covered because of storm damage. It was not a very good experience.
Now, my husband met the tech from Advantage over at the house. He checked the Freon, checked the components, and determined it was the capacitors. I certainly understand that if it came to the same diagnosis, then probably I would be charged. But it was almost discouraging me from doing that. The last two times, I’ve had problems with the contractor in that county. I had a plumbing issue and they wouldn’t do the work unless I paid in advance. Well, I’ve never done that, and I don't know whether it’s the contractors in that area. Overall, American Home Shield was great. It took some time, but they let me pick a plumber to go out and do the work, and just cut me the check for the hot water heater who actually sent me a bill, and I paid them.

When I purchased my home warranty from American Home Shield I asked the question, will you make a repair on a covered item if it is still working but there is a known problem with the item. Their answer was YES it only makes sense to repair the item before failure to reduce the cost of the repairs. That was one of the reasons I selected American Home Shield because that reduces or eliminates the down time of the item in question. Well they don't!!!
I have been with American Home Shield now for about 8 months and my washing machine started making a lot of noise during the spin cycle as if a bearing is going out. The noise is so loud my neighbors can hear the noise if the laundry room door is open to the garage. When I called AHS I told them my washing machine was making a lot of noise in the spin cycle and the noise was so loud it could be heard by the neighbors. They said they would be glad to send out a repairman and promptly asked if I wanted to pay the $108.25 with the card on fill, which I agreed. Within a few hours I received a call from the appliance repair company setting up an appointment for the next day.
When the appliance technician came out he identified the problem and told me he had good news and bad news. The good news was a bearing and shaft is failing but the bad news was that American Home Shield would not authorize the repairs because the washing machine could still wash clothes. The technician said the bearing and shaft would eventually fail.
If American Home Shield would have told me when I first called they could not authorize the repairs because the machine could still wash clothes I would have argued with them about what I was told when I first took the policy. I would have been upset with them for misleading me about making repairs on equipment that has not completely failed but they were quick to take my $108.25 knowing they would not authorize the repairs. They mislead me in the beginning and they are cheating me now, of all times during the Covid-19 when so many people are out of work. The only reason I gave them a 2 Star rating and not a 1 Star rating was the fact the appliance repair company responded so quickly.

I will explain it to you and you do with it what you like. My hot water heater stopped producing hot water. They sent out a repairman. He reset the sensor and said that they are very sensitive to vapors. And I should move a paint can, which I did. The heater shut off again within the hour after he left. The second repairman came the next day and did the same thing and recommended we call the local gas company, which I did. The gas man found a gas leak within the the box that controls the thermostat.
I requested a third repairman and they put a pending order on it. I went online and spoke to a service rep who said the company said it was due to paint fumes. I explained the situation. He then told me differing stories. First that she couldn't take my word and they would send another rep. I said fine and then they found an older record of work that I had my hot water heater replaced by someone else. 'They then said I needed proof the the repairman was licensed. And could not proceed any further. I then decided after two weeks I would do it myself. I took out the water heater and then got a repair order and a call from the service technician After I had loaded it into my truck so that I could pick up a new hot water heater. I am not a plumber so will have to pay for one to install a new one. My total cost will be around 800 dollars. This was totally unnecessary.

I have an older air conditioning unit and it leaks Freon every year. It’s one of the older units that takes the more expensive Freon. Every spring, I turn it on and check it out and can hear gurgling in the line where it was low on Freon just a little bit. Freon has to be put in it every year and the same man, Kevin, comes out. I really like that because he knows the history of my unit. One year, another tech came out, but I like that they knew the history of my system, which is very helpful. I didn't have to tell them what was going on with it. Kevin said that the leak is so small and it’s probably in the A-coil, which makes it very difficult to find. He also said that the leak has to get up to a certain percentage before they would consider replacing the unit. But he does a fantastic job and always shows up on time. He's really fast and I’ve been very happy with him.
To submit my claim, I normally either go online or I call the home warranty. Then they send me an email and tell me that Steinmetz is gonna be calling me for an appointment. Most of the time, Steinmetz calls me by the next morning, if not that afternoon, and schedule an appointment. When I called on a Friday or Saturday, one of the guys came in on Saturday and happened to see my call. He said that they'd call me on Monday morning to make an appointment. The tech was out by Monday afternoon or Tuesday. I’m very pleased with AHS. They do a great job.

I canceled the service and then my sister told me about AHS. Interacting with the AHS rep was seamless when I called for my kitchen sink stoppage. They said the claim would be submitted and I would get something back from the contractor. The contractor was very professional. However, he had to come back briefly because one of the pipes was not tightened. I had to wait a few days and put something under there to collect the water until he came back.

I like that submitting claims is simple and that they get on it really quickly. Moreover, their contractors are really nice to work with and knowledgeable. When the AC wasn’t working, the contractor who came out, was really good to work with. It was flooding because it was doing a backup and then all of the water was dripping inside the house. He looked at it and put Freon in. When I went back, it was starting to blow hot.

He went to the supply house and picked one up before he came to the house. The following morning, he came out and verified that’s what the problem was and had the unit there so he was able to replace it.

We had a stoppage in our kitchen sink and the guy from JD Drain Tech came out and snaked it. The claim submission was super easy. The AHS reps were really pleasant. They answered the phone on a Friday night and it got assigned to another plumbing company. So, once you call in your problem, they’ll put in the order and they assign a company to your problem. I looked at the company after they assigned it, which was about 30 minutes later. I wasn’t happy with what I saw online about the reviews and about the company, so I called back right away. The agent I talked to didn’t really wanna cancel it ‘cause they were not supposed to do that. Then I told him that it was a weekend and I couldn't even use my sink. I didn't wanna be stuck with a company that wouldn't do good work.
The AHS rep was nice enough to cancel the claim, redo it and assign JD Drain Tech to me. They had really good reviews, so I was happy with it. They called me that night to schedule an appointment for Saturday and the technician came out on time. I got updates through text of where he was gonna be. He came inside the house from the side gate so we had minimal contact and fixed our problem within 15 minutes and he was gone. This was our first claim with AHS and it was great.

So we didn’t spend the whole day waiting on anyone. However, I had a claim for my ceiling fans in my living room from over a year ago and nothing ever happened. The guy came out here, assessed it and got it working. This was the first time that we ever used the warranty so I didn't really know what to expect. But that's what I wanted and that's what happened so I'm happy with it.
I live in Louisiana and it gets extremely hot and humid here during the summer. Had it been that time, I would have preferred a faster response. But at the same time, I do understand. I live in a very rural area and it takes time for them to get ahold of whoever they're using and get them here. I'm realistic. So as far as I'm concerned, I'm fine with with the process and the way that it went down.

The second time Myers Comfort came out, they said that they didn’t put enough Freon in it and that when they put the compressor on, there were some screws that they didn’t put on. So, some of the Freon was exiting out. He had to recharge the Freon and put on those screws that should have been put on the first time.
I’ve also had to deal with AHS for the plumbing and it was easy. When I do a claim with them, they usually have somebody out here within a couple of days. I’ve done 2 jobs in 2 months. I’m happy with the guy who put a disposal on my sink. He’s an awesome guy. But the product itself that he installed is a mini mediocre one and it doesn’t work efficiently. My house is big with a bigger disposal compared to what he put. I did call them twice to do that. I’m not asking American Home Shield to upgrade things. I want them to replace the product that they took off with the same product. You can’t call this a warranty if I have 24 karat gold jewelry then you replace it with silver and say sorry. The owner of that place contacted me back and said if he could find American Home Shield's little paper, then he'd go ahead and replace it. But I’ve never heard of the man again so that went sideways.
Then I had another gentleman that came in a week after I put in the claims. He said he knew my dishwasher was leaking. He walked into my house and said, “I need two towels, and I need this, and I need that.” There was one piece of the dishwasher that was missing and I told him, “Make sure that you do this.” He said that would be another work order. Very nicely, we welcome him to my house then five minutes later, he wanted to fist fight me. I told him I didn’t owe him anything. I was trying to be as nice as possible and he didn’t deserve to be working in my house. I told him to please get out. He slammed the dishwasher and left with an attitude.
I had to call American Home Shield again for the same product I called in months ago. Another guy came in and he’s lost. I don’t know where he is. He hasn’t installed anything ‘cause it’s gonna take 15 to 20 days to bring it in. There were two of them that came in. They came and diagnosed the thing and said they were gonna call me back. They were gonna get the parts ordered, then they will be back. But I haven’t heard from them ever since. I had another guy that came in. He was able to get the parts within 3 or 4 days. I can understand from COVID-19 point of view, but I should at least get a common courtesy call. I was gonna wait for few more days and if they didn’t show up or did a courtesy call, then I would called AHS again. They’re outside contractor, but again, we are all dealing with AHS directly. Once the contractor gets the job, AHS thinks it’s all done deal. They don’t have to deal with the problem because it’s not directly affecting them. But the contractor is affecting AHS' reputation.

The only thing is sometimes we have more than one issue. In the past, with some of our plumbing stuff inside, it opened up a secondary issue. The contractors could only work on the issue that I opened the ticket for. So, it seemed like a waste of time for everybody because I had to schedule a time to come here so they could fix one thing, and then I had to open the ticket for them to come back to fix something else. We should be able to add to our work order or there should be a process for that because that's very inconvenient for everybody all the way around.

Then I found out that American Home Shield denied the flapper, which is a three-foot piece with an electrical wire hanging from our fridge door, and that they also denied the drawer. Actually, the first technician said it was not due to wear and tear but the second technician said that it was. It was nothing that we caused though.
I got on the phone with a service person from American Home Shield who told me that I could get a buyout for the flapper but then I received no follow-up phone call. There was nothing in the notes. Then I got on with another customer service person who put it up for escalation. But I felt that she was rude and defensive and then I myself, unfortunately, became a little rude and defensive. Once it went to escalation, the third technician came out from GE. He said that the flapper was absolutely needed in order for the fridge to cool properly and that that should have been put in.
The GE technician said he ordered the parts but it looked like one of them was not due to arrive until June although hopefully, it would come sooner. Then he went on his way. So the flapper hasn't actually showed up but it is also not absolutely the one that we need to function on a daily basis. We initially got the warranty from American Home Shield because our appliances were out of warranty and there was no reason to deny the flapper when it was needed to function.

We had a leak on the disposal and at the same time, we had a microwave issue. For the disposal, the contractor came the next day, which was fairly quick. They then got it replaced and working. For the microwave, the contractor came out and said they needed to order parts. We were waiting on the parts but AHS said that we could get a new microwave. Then they had to give it, which took about a couple of weeks, which was fairly quick. Both contractors were polite and did their job.
Ronald,
I am glad to hear all of your experiences have been pleasant. We look forward to a strong business relationship with you.

My mother-in-law is a Realtor and she recommended Home Shield. I've been with them for two or three years now and I've had no problems with my claims experiences. There was just one occasion when they didn’t cover something that I would have liked, but that’s understood. The contractors do quality work.
Todd,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

My husband called a claim in to American Home Shield for our clogged shower. They sent DDependable Service. It’s the second time we’ve had to use them, unfortunately, but I can’t say enough about them. They were here within 20 minutes. The repairman called right after we called and sent us a message telling us who they were going to be. The first time, he said, “Is it all right if I’m there within a half hour?” My husband agreed. On the second one, he called and said, “I’m about 20 minutes away,” and my husband said, “Wonderful.” The first time, he came by himself, and the second time, he brought his father with him. He was very pleasant, very aware of the Coronavirus, wore gloves, brought his own paper towels, and didn’t shake hands. I don’t think we’ve ever been so pleased with a repairman at all.
Everything has been functioning wonderfully since they’ve been out. I’ve already told a friend about them and she’s with American Home Shield. She was going to wait until after the Coronavirus. And I said, “You don’t have to. He took his shoes off and put those things on his feet when he came in." I wouldn’t go any place else. We get a lot of emails from Choice and somebody else, and my husband said, “Just delete it, delete it, delete it.”
Erin,
Thanks for letting us know how everything worked out for you and thanks for recommending us. We look forward to helping you in the future. Take Care.

I had my garbage disposal break and they sent out a terrible contractor who had no idea what he was doing. I looked him up later and he lost his contractor license two years ago due to some very bad interactions he had with previous customers. Would highly recommend AVOIDING American Home Shield at all costs. They are putting you in legal risk by using this company.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. Please provide your contract number if you need assistance.

I had a rough start with AHS but they came through with a solution that exceeded my expectations. They were pleasant to deal with and resolved the misunderstanding quickly and efficiently. Robert was understanding and I enjoyed interacting with a true professional. I highly recommend AHS to my family and friends as the go to company for home owners warranty. Thank you AHS and thank you Robert.

My very first claim experience has gone very wrong. We came home to find our garage door would not open. I entered through the service door and found that the tension spring that helps the door open had broken. I looked at my warranty contract to see if it was covered and this is what it said: GARAGE DOOR OPENERSCOVERED: All components and parts, except: NOT COVERED: Door or door track assemblies.
Since the spring was not the door or part of the door track assembly I went ahead and submitted my claim online (I tried to call AHS and was on hold waiting for a representative for over 20 minutes) and paid my $100 service call fee. The repair tech arrived and had to call AHS(on hold for a rep for over 25 minutes) for authorization and they denied the claim stating that the spring was part of the door tack assembly! The spring or springs are a completely separate part from the door track assembly, I did not have to buy a new door track assembly to get the springs replaced, they are sold and replaced as a stand alone part.
I spoke to the AHS rep and said since the springs are not listed as an excluded part they should be covered, she said no. I requested a refund of my $100 service call fee and she said no because the fee is retained by AHS, not that it is paid to the service company but it is retained by AHS. This unfair treatment has cost me $225 to replace the springs plus the wasted $100 service call fee. I am extremely frustrated by their breach of contract and will spread the word about AHS.
We do apologize for the inconvenience for the coverage issue as well as service fee. We would like to extend a helping hand in speaking with you pertaining to this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I have been with American Home Shield for about two years already, and I went with them because they have better pricing. Also, they insured my guesthouse and did not charge me separately for it. They charge me a flat rate. Other companies, when I shopped around, wanted double money for the guest house. The contractors of AHS have been awesome and polite. They have been quick to respond and they have problem-solving skills. Being polite is very important because I had a bad experience with Fidelity contractor, which was rude and aggressive. I called them, they would call me after four days and they would show up after a week. American Home Shield, on the other hand, has good management.
Sadegh,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

When I signed up with American Home Shield, that person was good. The technicians from Douglas Mechanical were awesome as well. They were really knowledgeable and there was good communication as far as everything goes. The initial phone call to set up for a technician to come out was not bad too, but when the air conditioner guy was out here, there was a separate issue with the furnace. I had to call back to set up another appointment and I told American Home Shield I wanted the same people out here because they already came out here once.
This was the start of this whole stupid pandemic, so I was on hold forever and got disconnected a million times. I had to call back and get another representative. I also went through the whole spiel again with someone who didn’t speak very good English. At one point, she said she couldn't guarantee the same people. I was mad because I know I can’t request a service technician, but they already sent those people out once before and I like them. They’ve already diagnosed the furnace problem too. Stil, American Home Shield has been great. I like it, and I recommended other people to purchase it.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience Lesa. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.
