The previous air conditioner people sent out by American Home Shield from Comfort Air were unsatisfactory. We signed up for the $85 cleaning offer of AHS and those guys didn't clean anything. They didn't wash the outside unit when I had a hose out lying next to it. I don't even remember them turning the heat on to check it. Still, the last guys they sent for the AC, AAction Air were good. Another contractor, James Brittingham Appliance was sent for a different issue and the guy from there was good too.

Home Shield's claims process is pretty easy and the people they've sent out have been pretty good. I’ve used them three times since I’ve had them. One time, the AC unit wasn’t turning on at all and it took Ultra three days in the Las Vegas weather to fix it.

My washer wasn’t wringing the clothes. The guy who came was really efficient. He went right to the problem, got it done, and was very professional. I really appreciated him. He was quick. I just wish AHS improves on the way they do things. You have to contact them to get ahold of a technician. But everything runs smoothly.

I’ve had American Home Shield for a while with a little short gap in between. Before, we paid the service fee after the person came, assessed the issue and took care of it, but now we’re paying upfront before the person even comes out. That is something that is different, but that’s what their policy is. Still, I was very pleased when Turner Electrical & Lighting did an outstanding job. The tech was able to diagnose what the issue was then he explained it to us and took the steps necessary to amend it. He was very informative. Due to the Coronavirus, he had a mask as well as gloves on. He also had those little shoe coverings on his boots. He was very sympathetic to our concerns and everything was great.

My bathroom needed to be replumbed. The previous owner kind of threw a bathroom down the basement himself so nothing was to code or working. It was backflowing uphill and it was pretty bad. I called American Home Shield because I wasn't sure if my issue was covered. I asked them and they got everything set up from there. The claim process was pretty easy.
Unlimited Heating and Refrigeration came out and I was very happy with them. They redid the whole plumbing in the bathroom. They knew pretty much what needed to be done. They did all the paperwork and everything with American Home Shield. I didn't have to do any of that stuff. They were really quick with getting me scheduled once that was taken care of.
It took some time because they had to come out a few different times. They were having some issues getting things covered by American Home Shield. Once everything was covered, they were able to get it done pretty quickly. Everything was taken care of and it went great. It took some time but finally, I have a bathroom that I can use. The bathroom is running and performing great. I'm pretty happy with the coverage I received. It was probably 75% of everything that was paid for.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Tim Rausch Plumbing came out out for an issue. The guy came, took out the old unit and put in a new one. He did a great job. He assured me that I won’t need to call back for a new repair. He was very courteous and professional. I didn’t have to wait for days. He was here the next day after I put in my request. He brought one of his coworkers to help him with the equipment. At one point, I dropped AHS because of financial reasons. And then, I decided to change the plan. I used to have the whole system and appliance coverage then, I dropped them. And then, I picked them up for the system coverage. And now, I’m going to renew in July.

American Home Shield's contractor, Gaithersburg Plumbing had to come out twice for a garbage disposal issue. They could have come out with the right part to seal the sink which they didn't do. So, it started to leak again. They came with the right part the second time and everything is fine now.

The two ACs that were bought with the house were not turning on and originally, I filed my AC claim online, but I only had the option do choose AC. I wasn’t able to say one or two. I had to call AHS and tell them that there are two and to put it on the call. The contractor was only able to come and fix one until AHS did that. However, it was pretty easy filing my claim. Then one of the ACs ended up having a leak, so the contractor came back in a very timely manner and fixed it. About four months ago, the furnace wasn’t working and we had to do a claim for that too. So far, everything has been covered.

Everything was good when I had my heat-AC unit replaced. Freon is still made for the older stuff, but I was told that it was more expensive than the newer stuff. It also was explained to me that if something happened with the outside unit and AHS replaced it, unless they could find a unit that had the old Freon, the entire system, including the inside units, would have to get replaced because of the new stuff they were using. But I would think something like that could probably be mitigated. AHS has helped ease my mind if anything goes wrong. I’ve had great experiences with them, but I know that it comes down to how much dollars somebody is forking out. At the end of the day, it’s some of my money, but AHS is the one flipping the bill.

I like American Home Shield very much. I don’t have to use them that often, thankfully, but it’s nice. I pay for the monthly fee for a reason. When stuff unexpectedly happens, I can tell them to have their contractor come on out. I also find filing claims easy to do. I just do it online, hit the submit button, and it is done. When my garbage disposal had been leaking water, I submitted the claim on a Sunday so I didn’t receive the schedule request until business hours on Monday. They open at 8:00 and I received it at 8:17.
We scheduled it for that Tuesday between 8:00 and 1:00. It was less than 48 business hours from the time I submitted the claim to someone coming out. The work was great. The guy that came out was really nice. The contractor who contacted me sent me an email to let me know the name of the contractor who was coming out to my house and they had a picture in the email so that way I knew exactly who was coming, what they look like. I liked that feature. They gave me a call when he was on his way. He was here for less than an hour from the time of his arrival, showing him everything that happened and him replacing the entire garbage disposal unit and completing the paperwork. There’s been absolutely no problem since it was replaced last Tuesday.

We just renewed with AHS. Submitting claims with them is pretty easy. You just either call or go on the portal. However, I like calling because sometimes, it's not as straight forward in the portal. Calling somebody allows you to clarify which category the claim should fall under. Their customer service and contractors have both been great to work with. When our dryer was creating stains on our clothes, we weren’t really sure why. The contractor checked it out and replaced it. They did a great job. We also had a sink issue a few months before that. It was addressed and taken care of quickly.

I had problems with the ducts in my attic. When I turned the heater on, it wouldn't heat the house up. I had PG&E come in and their guy said the heater I had in there was big enough to heat the whole house. He told me to have the ducts looked at. I was supposed to have someone come look at the ducts and I thought maybe I'd have to pay it out of my own pocket. But my daughter told me to check with American Shield and find out if it was covered. It was so I'm happy about that. They did a great job.
The contractor American Shield sent out came down. There was a lot of air coming out of the heater inside. The ducts were the first generation. They were made out of screen and very poorly too. The air wasn't going where it was supposed to go. It was going in the attic. That was leaking through the ducts. The contractor put in metal ducts which are the newer type. Now, it works great. I have heat all over the house. Before, wherever I sit on there, I'd be sitting with a space heater because I quit using the heater. But the contractor told me what was wrong and they did a good job. I'm happy with them.
I moved to Reno about four years ago and I had American Shield up there. I had them come down and look at the same thing. It wasn't the ducts that I had in there though. The whole thing had to be redone because of the way the house was built. It would have cost a lot more than what it was worth. I then bought this house here almost a year ago and I'm still with Home Shield. It's worth it.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

I had made a claim several years on my air conditioning unit that's underneath the house. Whoever put the thing in ran the drain line through the foundation wall and it came out in the dirt. You have to dig it up to find it. I asked the guy if it was the way it was supposed to be 'cause I know you can sit there and watch it drip. He said it wouldn't hurt it. I asked, “Well, you don't think you need to dig it up?” And he said it was not his thing. I thought it was strange because he was supposed to be fixing it. Albeit there really wasn't anything wrong with it, other than he put an elbow into the pipeline. It was interesting but I thought it was good. Some of these guys don't like to spend a whole lot of time with you. They wanna get in and get out. But in that particular case, this guy was a little different.
Then I had another claim for my hot water heater which was leaking. The guy came out and said he couldn't fix it because the water pressure coming into the house was higher than it was recommended for the water heater. He said I had to get it fixed first before they could fix the water heater. I thought it was interesting that they didn't wanna take the time to try to fix that. I'm sure there are a lot of limits that the warranty office is not gonna do. But if I got a guy out here and he finds another problem that he can't work on the thing that he came out for, it seems like he'd wanna fix it. For our recent claim with Home Shield, it was for an appliance and the service went fine.

Home Shield's website is really easy to navigate, except when I renewed my contract, it’s not under my email address. For this year, I have to pretend like I’m not a user. I have to put in my actual address to get the active contract. When I come up for my renewal in June, I have to log in to my account and then renew. I had a claim when the refrigerator was leaking and they worked with us and got Appliance Service here early. My husband is working one week on and one week off right now due to Coronavirus and they catered to that, which we appreciate.
The tech was very professional and knowledgeable. He let us know what the issue was with the refrigerator and told us what’s a good brand of refrigerator and the maintenance that we needed to do. My husband went out and got the filter and they replaced the filter. There have been no issues since. We have a Facebook page for the neighborhood. We get a lot of new people coming in and they ask recommendations. I tell them to make sure to look into Home Shield if they don’t have a home warranty because Home Shield has been helping us since we bought our first house.

I was with Old Republic and I wasn't very happy with them last year. My friend was with American Home Shield, so she told me to give them a try and I am very happy. A pipe was leaking underneath the sink and D&B Plumbing was very quick to diagnose it. The tech looked at it and there was a piece that was broken off. Instead of trying to just patch it, he said it would be best to replace it because it would happen again. He didn't have the exact same brand that I had, but he had a similar faucet and everything already in the truck. He was quick to complete all the work on the same day, in less than an hour and a half.

Years ago, I had problems with my well which wasn't pulling water out of the ground. When I called Home Shield, they told me it would be six or seven days before we could get help. I told them that my mom is 90 years old and she can't go seven days without water. Still, they said that's how long it would be. I told AHS not to worry about it then called some well people that I know other people use in our area. Those guys were at our place in two hours.
More recently, my dishwasher wasn't running. It was making a popping noise that tripped our breaker. We called American Home Shield and submitted a claim. Their website is a little tougher for me than it would be for somebody who is tech savvy, but I got through -- I'm in my 60s. The eyes of my oven weren’t heating up to proper temperatures, and the oven was not baking all the way through. I put buns in there, and half of it would get cooked and half of it would not. The contractor from Carolina Appliance had come out about three different times for us already, and the most recent one was for this issue. He was cool, and I love him. I was going to call American Home Shield back, however, because one of the eyes in the back is not heating up. When you put it on high, it is on low. Then, we turned it to the opposite side, thinking it was backwards, but it still does not heat up to high.

Sam’s Garage was on time and they had the repair done in 10 minutes or less. Everything went well. About four months ago though, we had an issue with the garage door, and it was the spring. We’ve always had the extended policy that covers everything, so I called for me the appointment and they said it was covered. Sam’s Garage came out that time as well and they had to call to make sure it was covered on their end, and they said it wasn’t.
I had to pay out of pocket and then I had to fight for the next few weeks back and forth. That was frustrating, but I finally got the money back for it and for the most part, American Home Shield is good. The best thing would be to address appropriately if something was covered or not. This time it was supposed to be covered then I had to go through and get a supervisor just to rectify the situation. It was really hard to get ahold of upper management.
From what I’ve heard, a lot of the home warranty companies are the same. Sometimes it can be hard to get stuff approved and they verify the book on it, but they nickel and dime a little too much at times. It was the same thing with a water heater issue we had a couple of months back. It took two weeks to get it resolved between getting the water heater company to come out, getting stuff approved, waiting on this part and waiting on that part. With us being long-time customers, the home warranty could have intervened, approved stuff a little earlier and just get the job done.

AHS's website is great and easy. It told me when to expect the contractor to call. Then I got the email that they had confirmed with Suffolk Appliance when they would contact me. Suffolk Appliance called me on the day AHS said they would, but they called towards the end of the day at around 5:00. I missed the call and then they were gone. I called them back the first thing the next morning, and they had someone out by Thursday.
The actual person ran late, but he kept me in the loop. He let me know that he was going to be late, when he was supposed to be here, and why he was running late. He was very apologetic, fast, and informative. My washing machine sounded like the garbage disposal. He came in, diagnosed it relatively quickly and fixed it. I like AHS. They are fast, efficient, and affordable. They are necessary and I tell everybody about them because it works. Anytime that I’ve had issues, I’d hit a button, then my deductible would be gone, someone would come and the problem would get fixed.

He was very professional and he had enough knowledge to figure out what was going on and he addressed it right away. Everything’s been really good functioning. I had another claim that went in for a plumbing issue. I had to get a second opinion for that one. The second opinion finally found what the issue was and they’re addressing it right now. I’ve been with American Home Shield for years but I’ve had some issues, and it seems like when it rains, it pours. It has been more frustrating in the past years. I don't use them very often but when I do, there were some issues that did come along. I paid monthly, on time, I’ve done this for years and I pay the service fee. When there’s an issue and you wanted to talk to a supervisor about anything, because the agent is not that informed, you can’t get past the first layer, and that was really frustrating. There was an instance where I was able to get past that and it worked beautifully as a result of being able to do that.
I live in an area where you know the service provider and the types of work that they do. And we’ve run upon a service provider that does not do well at all, and we’ve had recalls. I was trying to avoid a particular person that was selected as my service provider and I was stuck with that. We went through the same scenario again, and I couldn’t just get someone different because they wouldn’t allow that.
In the past, if we didn't like that service provider or had some issues with them, we could go with one of our choices. And that has been taken away. You can’t select any one that you need that’s more credible, reputable, and does quality work. But for our recent claim West-Techs did well. They were able to maintain the part that came in and repaired the unit. The timeliness was good. It only took a couple of hours even when he had a different size of the coil that he ended up not needing.

After the tech said whatever needs to be done, he said, “Warranty doesn't cover this.” We paid just for the call $100 but it doesn't make sense. The tech explained everything that was wrong with my appliance and how to prevent it that it shouldn’t happen again. He got it fixed quick. He was only here for about 30 minutes. He knew what he was doing. I've been with Home Shield for about three years now and recently, it seemed like the service had gotten faster. So that’s good. Submitting the claim has been pretty easy with the website. The service has been great.

We’ve used AHS several times and it has always been very simple and easy to navigate. You just set up the appointment, and then bam, you get a phone call from somebody. They then come and fix the issue. When the pump was broken in my washer, Sears was awesome. The guy came and replaced the pump in 20 minutes. Then he talked to me. I thought he was still working on the issue but he was done already. He was amazing.

My experience with American Home Shield over the past two years that I've had service with them has been good. Signing up online and submitting claims for repairs has been super easy. It was a little difficult the first time but after that, I had no problems. I've had their contractors work on my AC a few times. They have done my stovetop range, refrigerator ice maker, microwave and washing machine too. I keep the contract rolling as my house is about 90 years old. It's really a good fit for AHS's service. I'm happy with how things have gone with AHS. I recommend AHS especially for older homes.

It was my first time ever getting and using American Home Shield. Submitting a claim was pretty easy. I had Sewer Medic come and do my hot water heater and my garbage disposal. The hot water heater had rotten out and they came and fixed it. The gentleman was really good. They did what they had to do and left. I was impressed. However, I received a phone call saying that I needed to pay an out-of-pocket cost, and that was kinda shocking to me because I didn't even know as I didn't have the paperwork to let me know what was and was not covered. Now that I have the paperwork, I can see what's covered on there. If I have to have any other out-of-pocket expenses, at least I know what's going on.

My daughter’s room is the only one that just seemed to be so hot. My son’s room is next to hers but his seem to be very cool. So, when the guy came out, he said it was the way the ductwork was ran and the only way to resolve it is to either redo all the ductwork or to shut some of the other vents off to force the air to come through there, which was what he did. I had two of them in the living room that had a lot of air coming out. So, he closed one of them in the living room and it has been better. The guy put on little booties and he had his mask on the whole time. Plus, he had gloves on. He was very thorough. I submitted the claim online through an email claim to American Home Shield and it was so easy that I thought I forgot something or I have to do something but I didn't. Immediately, within 24 hours, I was contacted and the guy came in within the timeframe that I was given. It was flawless.
The second time, I decided to call because I was looking to see if it was covered. I was not gonna call if it was not covered. The toilet had been leaking a little while and my AHS warranty was about to expire. I didn't think I was gonna renew it because of financial reasons but I wanna make sure I get everything in. So, I called about the toilet and the guy was really good. He was in here and did not take any precautions at all. He took the toilet off and redid the whole seal. It was totally gone and he did that in less than 30 minutes. He was in and out of here so quickly. The only thing I was concerned with is that once he put the toilet back on, he put in new screws but he didn’t re-caulk anything. It’s finished and it’s not leaking now so that’s good, and I can always go in and caulk it. But he didn’t do the finishing work so, it wasn’t as great as an experience as the first guy.

The air wasn't blowing cool upstairs. R Harris A/C & Heating came out and we didn't want anybody in the house with the COVID stuff going on. They did everything from outside and they did a great job. Previously, we had issues with the water heater people that AHS was using. The vendor was sloppy, lazy, and did not fix the problem. Then, it created more problems down the line. But AHS resolved the issue. They listened so I appreciated that. We had to pay a decent amount of money 'cause we had to pay for multiple entries. But they, at least, noted in our account that we didn't wanna use those people in the future. I would keep their services.

I've had American Home Shield for eight years and everything is good. They call and they set up things right away. Something broke on the heater and the technician from Rosenthal did a good job on it. He knew exactly what it was and went right to it. He was in and out for a few minutes. With the last claim that I had, the guy said that the security could be fixed but he moved something around up there but he said that they wouldn't fix stuff outside.
I told the technician that AHS told me that they will fix the security 'cause it was coming on and off whenever it wanted to. Then the sockets that were on the inside, the electricity part of it is good but when you plug them in, they just fall out. He said that the plugs were old and that they wouldn't fix them unless it was an electrical problem. It is an electrical problem for us because we can't get electricity sometimes. and he was supposed to fix them but he didn't. He said that he was gonna call AHS and ask them 'cause he didn't think that he was supposed to fix it. That was two days ago. I haven't heard back from him.

We just renewed with AHS last week and I'm kind of fighting that decision. We had three service calls in the same week and none have been resolved. We had a locksmith come out to rekey the doors, but the old keys still open the doors. We also had somebody come out for the dishwasher. I called in and tried to get a second opinion on the dishwasher but that has been more than five days ago and the dishwasher's still busted. It has been busted for almost two weeks and after two weeks, I have to place a new call. The garage is working intermittently. They should just replace the unit when it’s problematic, not just spray a little WD-40 on it. I spent a total of two hours on the phone with AHS, trying to get more people out here but it just hasn't gone well. If they really cared about service, they would take care of the issues. However, some of the people working in their call center couldn't possibly care less.

My previous tenants left and the pool was green and it was clogged. I called for service in August. Roccas Pool Service came and fixed everything. They said everything works well. Now, the current tenant said the heater is not working. The pool guy was sick at the moment so they didn't know if they're doing something wrong. So I sent my pool guy and he said the pool was not working. So Roccas Pool didn't fix it or they broke it.
I requested AHS for a report to see if the contractor did fix it and if they found that everything works at the moment, then I would be out of the hook. I have to go after my tenants to buy a new heater and replace the old one. I had no tenant so nobody used it. It's my word against the previous tenant and Roccas Pool should be my backup. He put his signature that I paid him and everything was working. So he's my security. In seven business days, I will get the report.
I like that I can request service online. When I requested this time, it was over the weekend. They contacted me Monday and everything worked nice. When I like to set up an appointment, everything works perfect. But I needed proof that everything was working with the previous order. But then, if I have issues in the previous claim, it's a huge disappointment. Also, the first AHS guy I talked to was so incompetent. He told me he's gonna email me and he verified the email address two times. But I never got an email from them. I had to call again another 40 minutes waiting on line. There is an option to request a service or to inquire about a current service but there is no contact line to speak directly about a previous issue or for requesting a paperwork. I had to call and pretended to request a new service.

The tech quoted my dad some prices and he said he didn’t think it would be covered under dad’s home warranty. So I told my dad to let them know we will call them if we decide to go with them. The dishwasher had a hole in the bottom of it and Residential Maintenance Solutions came out and replaced it. They took care of everything. The whole process took about two weeks. There were three companies involved. It was confusing. The original people had come out, evaluated it and said it couldn't be repaired. So then, they reported that back to AHS and then somebody reached out and said that they would get a replacement.
And then, I was getting phone calls from another company wanting to come out and do an evaluation. I told them I'd already had it evaluated and they were gonna repair it. And then, I had an independent company drop off a dishwasher, and then it sat for a week in my kitchen, and then another company came out and put it in. So, it was a screwed up deal. It wasn't one company taking care of the whole thing. It seemed like on this last deal, they just weren't communicating on who was gonna do what and when. There were several different companies instead of just one company taking care of it. But when I had a little pool pump issue, the contractors came out and fixed it that day.

That was my fault, but they were really good to deal with even in that situation. A couple of weeks ago, a plumbing company came out to replace a water heater. Updated on 05/20/2020: I wrote a review about American Home Shield on the 5/06 regarding our A/C Unit. I was very dissatisfied with AHS not fixing the unit that was put in end of summer 2018. So I wrote a review. A Mr. Scott ** contacted me and was willing to solve the problem. He told me that they would fix the A/C and cover the cost. At that point, I was very satisfied. That was a Monday. Wednesday I decided to call the company, that is supposed to repair the unit and they didn’t know anything about it.
So I called AHS on hold again, got disconnected again and they didn’t know about the repair being covered either. Wanted to talk to supervisor but she was busy but would call me back in the next hour. No one returned the call. Next day called back, holding forever and she was going to connect me with a supervisor and I was on hold until I got disconnected. Oh and no one knew a Mr. **. So now it’s going to be in the 90F and no Air. It is very frustrating not to get this problem solved.
Original review: We had a new A/C unit put in, in 2018. It was covered under the warranty we have with AHS. The company they sent took 6 weeks to get it done (not good). 1/12 weeks ago the unit would not turn on. The company that came told us, that the unit was jigger-rigged and parts did not match up. The work order did not fully get approved, they said we had to pay $1375. For a unit, that we used 1 summer?? We talked (after hours of holding and hang ups) with a supervisor and no luck. Why should we pay that much for a unit that is practically new and they sent us these people?? We don’t know if they do it right, that’s why we have AHS. The temperature in this house is 86F. VERY DISSATISFIED.
We do apologize for the delay and inconvenience in this matter. We understand that the time frame of this is of the essence. My name is Robert and I will be speaking with you pertaining to this.

Customer Service cancelled the request and started another in queue to find me someone to fix my issues. I asked about staying in a hotel and being reimbursed until its resolved. I got hung up on twice, once because of AHS faulty line. Rather than call me right back, I had to call in 3 times and be on hold for 45 minutes. If the call drops, call the client back, because there is a wait time of 20 minutes. Issue still not resolved. Explained I was an essential worker being taken away from my work for hour and a half. Asked for supervisor who could possibly answer my questions and at this point the calls mysteriously dropped. I am beyond frustrated with this overall experience and I have been a customer for probably 10 years or more owning several homes.

American Home Shield is great and we're very happy we have it. It comes in really handy for us. We've been renewing it for the last four years and we've recommended them to other people too. We have two issues going on right now. One is the sink and one is our freezer. I was notified for the sink part, but not the freezer part. My husband was. We were surprised that I was getting text messages for one service then my husband was getting messages from another, for the different service. It was the service provider who was texting us and we were wondering why they were communicating with me when my husband put in the claim for the sink. Maybe I put in a claim at one point, a few years ago, and it was that vendor that remembered who I was.
Whoever puts in the claim and the information that's provided there should be the information used so there's no disconnect or somebody doesn't miss something. You think husband and wife talk and communicate, but sometimes we just have so much going on. We could've missed something and I did miss something because I got another text. There's one service that we are waiting on some parts. I got a text and I ignored it because I thought we've already had the guy here. The text was saying our part isn't coming till May 6th, and I didn't know that. We were trying to coordinate, asking who got what, but it was not a big deal. The good news is that we are being communicated with. That's the important thing. Also, when my husband did the claim, he was pleased. Someone came out to look at the sink and the guy did a great job. They fixed it.

We've been living in this condo (it's more like a townhome) going on two years and American Home Shield has been great. When we first got here, there were some AC problems and it's not great to have AC problems in Florida. I called, and the people that came out were phenomenal. Recently, my dryer ran, but it did not heat up. I called American Home Shield, spoke with a live person and they were quite helpful. They told me that the service would be on a Monday. Cooper Appliances & Repair came out to work on my dryer and they were great.
The person was really helpful in getting things done and explaining to me why the situation happened. The fuse on some temperature regulator blew and he said that it happens when the vent is clogged up. The dryer is on the second floor. He said that the big long vent that goes up to the roof was probably clogged up and that if he were me, he would make sure that he would have it cleaned. He advised that I definitely want to get it professionally cleaned, not just try to self-vac it out before I use it, and I did that. I waited and had someone come out and do that. I just used the unit this weekend and now, it's working great.

I like the versatility of submitting a claim with AHS. It’s according to the urgency of the matter, and you just wanna feel comfortable talking with somebody. And sometimes, you just can’t wait on for a while and just go online. The call is not bad. But if the call is going to be held up for a while, then they may need to just get to the online service. But if we have a problem, we feel confident that they’ll answer the call and they’ll come out. Recently, we had a leak in the bathtub faucet. Hers & His Plumbing came out. At first, when they came out to fix it, they didn’t get it fixed. It started leaking in a couple of days. So, they came back out to check it again.
AHS is good to have. Especially when you move into a new area or just moving into a house that you’re not familiar with, it's just good to have somebody that you’ve been working with to be able to come out and look at the appliance. Right now, American Home Shield covers pretty much everything. But they should cover maintenance too. What they state in their contract is that they don’t take care of the appliance, and it's up to the individual to take care of the appliances and get the maintenance. And then that leaves it up to the person to go out and get whoever they want. But if they maintain the system, or would send someone coming out to look at it, then that would be a good move.

Last year I tried getting ahold of American Home Shield as soon as they tried double-charging me, and I couldn't. It would be an advantage for the customer to be able to talk to somebody to get on the problem right away. Just recently I was very happy with Sub Zero Mechanical. They're very professional. I called on Friday night. They were here on Saturday to check everything out, and then they came back on Thursday and installed what was needed. They put a whole new A-frame upstairs in my attic on the furnace. Having a home warranty is pretty important unless you have a lot of money to pay for expenses. The money I paid for this last repair, it’s over $700 with the $125 for American Home Shield. That was quite a bit out of my pocket, being a retiree and on a fixed income, but we handled it.

I had a leak in my master bedroom closet. The guys came out and did a bisection of the area but they did it neatly. They're probably one of the best plumbing teams that ever came my house before. If I could give them 20 stars, I would.
AHS has certain people that can do certain things. The plumber can do plumbing but they can't do sheetrock. They probably could but they don't do that. The guy who came back to do the repair did it excellent but he didn't paint it. I gotta go ahead and get it painted out of my expense. AHS doesn't offer end-to-end service. It's not a one-stop shop. Also, It would be better if they could let us know what needs to be done in advance instead of piecemealing. They could say, "You did plumbing but you might have to get some remodeling done." That way, we would know what we're getting into. Some people can't wait to that time. They wanna go ahead and get their stuff done quickly. Other than those, AHS does good. I deal with them alone because if they can't fix it, they'll replace it.

I purchased my home a year ago and I just renewed my policy with AHS. In the past, when I've purchased homes, I always request that the seller provide AHS warranty and I'll definitely use it this year for this home so I renewed. The repairmen provided really good service and identified the issue and fixed it. And they arrived on time, they complied with COVID-19 guidelines.
I also had AHS I have had them come out twice for my water heater. Both different plumbers have said that it's on its last legs. The last plumber said it really needs to be replaced but AHS won't replace it until it completely dies, which to me, that makes no sense because it's just going to cause more damage. Other than that, everybody has always been very professional, and they've always been quick to get somebody out here. And if I come across somebody that can't make it for a long time, they're quick to find somebody else. They've been very attentive to all of that.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Aqua Clear had excellent professionalism. Their tech showed up on time and he was a good communicator. As soon as he looked at the garbage disposal, he said that it was too old. He explained that it was not fixable and there was nothing he could do about it. He was great. I don't always figure everything out and I kinda need that little guidance when it comes to things. I had a lot of questions and he was absolutely terrific and very patient.
Also, I had a faucet that broke and he looked at it. He said he could get another faucet for about $150. He offered to run out to Lowe's and get it. I explained that I was hoping to update my kitchen a little bit and offered to pick the faucet. I asked if I could pay the difference and get what I really wanted and he let me do that. That was so nice. He went way over and above with normal to make sure that I was happy. And that means that I’m happier with American Home Shield, which means they keep my business. It was probably the best experience I have had in a situation like that in years
I’m happy with AHS, although it's a lot of money every month. I love the fact that if you got three plumbing issues, you don't have to pay $75 three times. I’ve kinda been sitting on the garbage disposal, the faucet, and the hot water heater issues and it was nice to be able to knock out those three things at one time. That was really a blessing and that kind of renewed my faith or my love for American Home Shield.

Integrity Air Conditioning did a very good job, so we’re back in a habitable home now. It was 85 degrees. But the only thing, and that’s not their fault, it took almost two weeks to get the coil from Trane. I don’t know where they shipped it from. We got through it all right, but it was not fun. Integrity Air were very professional, though. They identified the problem right away, which my regular service did not. They identified something entirely different. I've used American Home Shield once or twice and it’s fine. Submitting a claim was very simple. They send the people in right away, and I have no problems with that. They could reduce the rate a little bit, though.

When I submit a claim to AHS, I do it online and I get a phone call from the people usually the next day. Recently I submitted a claim because the AC wasn’t coming on at all. And come to find out I got one of those smart thermostats from my security company, and it wasn’t working right. So, the contractor replaced it and it’s been working ever since. He was very knowledgeable. The first time that they came out, nobody knew what was wrong. But the last guy that came out found it right away. I’m very happy with the service of AHS. I tell everybody it’s a good thing. AHS has saved me money. Even though it’s a newer house and I wasn’t expecting a bunch of things to be broken, I’ve still had to use it several times.

Price Right Plumbing came out to check a faucet that was not distributing hot water. It provided water everywhere else to the house but for whatever reason, it did not for the shower. This happened last Thursday. My tenant was there at the house and she explained to me what happened. I've owned the home for 12 years and I never experienced anything like that. We haven't had any major renovation that would mess around waterlines.
When I talked to the tech he told me was there was a need to cut an access in the wall to find the line so he could see if the lines were crossed. That didn't sound right. But I'm not a professional so I told the tech that I was gonna call my husband and have him talk to the tech. My husband was really familiar with plumbing. My husband didn't think that what the tech said was the issue.
The tech was able to maneuver things having the sink water running then the shower would get hot water. How they figured that out, I'm not sure. But it still didn't address the issue. On the receipt, the tech told us that he changed out a piece. There are two mechanical pieces inside of the faucet. He changed out one and when that didn't work, he put it back together because he couldn't do the other part without access in the wall.
We drove down the house yesterday because my tenant didn't have hot water. I grabbed the paperwork yesterday. We looked at the waterline. The tech had to secure the water from the outside but he never did. I made sure I took pictures of it. It was like buried. It looks like it hasn't been touched in a really long time so I knew he didn't change out any piece.
The company that AHS sent out is full of crap. My husband was over there until about 12 o'clock last night going over with what the tech claimed that he did. He was looking for the ticket. Hopefully, AHS talks to the tech and the first question they need to ask him is how he shut the water off. My husband took pictures of all the stuff when he was there. There was no way that the tech did what he said he did because if he had, water would have been everywhere because he never shut the water off. My husband knows that is so because hr had to dig the dirt out from around the water shutoff valve in order to shut the water off. When he opened up the meter box, that thing was full of dirt like it was never touched.
The tech was also claiming that he changed out a cartridge and put it in. But it didn't work. The tech told me that a plumber needed to come out because the lines were crossed. But this house has been occupied for years and the lines didn't just get crossed. My husband shut the water off and opened it up. It was a simple valve replacement. The mix valve was bad in it.
My husband took pictures of the mix valve because when he took it out, he could see that it is plastic and it has a spring. The plastic broke and the screen had lodged itself in the line. My husband replaced the mix valve and did a replacement. That seemed to work like a charm. It was not an issue at all. It took my husband longer to find out where to shut the water off than it did to actually fix the problem. With that home, the shutoff valve is in the street and not next to the home. Most water shutoffs are located inside the home or right outside of the home.
It seems the tech did not take the time to properly troubleshoot. He probably got frustrated and was like, "I don't know where the valve is. I can't shut the water off." If he had opened that thing up, water would have been everywhere because he had no way to shut the water off. That thing would have probably come off and hit him in the face because that thing is under pressure. The only thing that he did was probably take off the safety cover then move the temperature adjuster trying to see if he could adjust the temperature. After which he was like, "Oh, well, I replaced it." He did not do what was on the paper. We don't ever need to use him again. He doesn't know enough.
I had American Home Shield for about four years then I stopped using it because the house was unoccupied. I started it back up in January of this year. With AHS, you pay the deductible before a contractor even comes out. I have a home in Maryland too and AHS sent out All Clear for a claim I made. The experience for that claim was the total opposite of Price Right Plumbing. The All Clear tech was there for 20 minutes and figured out what was wrong. He fixed it and went on about his business.

Claims submission has been super simple. I just go online and put in what's going on. Within 24 hours, somebody's calling me and then, 24 hours from then, they're out to repair it. When my fan stopped working, North Coast Group Electric came out. I thought the switch was maybe blown. The fan started going crazy. But it's on a remote and that’s what they had to replace. But nothing has had to be done right away like some kind of emergency case like a broken pipe that would need to be fixed right then. I'm not sure how that one works if that happens. I haven't seen anything that shows me like an emergency service on the website. But that's probably the only thing. That aside, our experience with the service has been really easy.

Ace Plumbing replaced my garbage disposal for me. It went out. The service guy showed up the first time and looked at it and said, “You know what, this is a ¾-horsepower engine, so we have to order a special one for you. We can’t go with the standard one off the truck at ½-horsepower. And we’ll contact you.” They called me back a few days later and said, “Okay. We have one coming in and we’ll be over on Monday to install it.” They came over the afternoon and installed it.
I submit my claims to American Home Shield on the phone and my credit card’s already on file with them, so they just deduct the $75 service fee. I’ve used them about four times in the last five years. I never had a problem with them. They take care of business. They take care of me each time. My condenser for my Carrier air condition unit was making some very loud, odd noises. I went online first, and then, I made a call and placed a claim. Three days later, I had a technician. It was fairly easy. The technician, Richard, came out, did some testing and realized that the capacitor on the condenser failed and was not putting out the right voltages so he replaced it. We turned it back on and it worked. I’m in Tucson, Arizona. We were hitting 100 at that point. I was happier than a clam. I like it so much at this point that I’m going to have Crispy Air do my maintenance instead of Chas Roberts. Also, I would recommend American Home Shield because of the value, the ease of placing a claim, and their quickness to respond was exceptional.

Never owning a home before, we know a homeowner's rule is things are going to break. Things are going to go wrong. So, we wanted to make sure that at least we had a bit of coverage in that regard. Our kitchen sink was leaking. I couldn’t figure out from where. It was flooding under the sink pretty bad. It turned it was coming from the extension hose, like when you pulled the nozzle out if you need a little extra slack, and it was just running right down into there. J & A Plumbing and Rooter's tech tried to find the replacement tube that connects the faucet to the line, but he was unable to, and then he had to replace the whole faucet.
The contractor arrived promptly both times because the first time, that’s because, as it was explained to me, even though the tech had a faucet on the truck where he could have replaced it that first time, they had to try and replace the part before they replaced the faucet. So, on both instances, communication was great and the turnaround time was good. Everything was perfect. I've been happy with the coverage and the service. If you are looking for a home insurance plan, Home Shield is one company you should look at.

My hot water tank wasn't producing hot water. Doing claims with American Home Shield is relatively easy, but that one was a little bit of a challenge. I didn't discover until Friday evening that the water was out. AHS issued a repair person. They said, "You know, they'll be getting in contact with you or you can contact them." I looked and it was for me to contact them. It was Friday at 4:00 and their office is from Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. So, I wanted someone else who is open on the weekend.
I had to just call and say, "Can you reassign me someone else that's at least open on Saturday so I can get the faucets going?" They initially assigned me to someone else. So, I had to call back and luckily, it was open on Saturdays. On Saturday, Rockland came right over. They needed a part which had to be ordered. They couldn't order it until Monday. They said, "As soon as it comes in, just call, and we'll make you a priority." It came Tuesday early in the morning, and they put it in Tuesday in the afternoon.
I like American Home Shield. The house I had before this house, I rehabbed it from top to bottom. Both of my neighbors had American Home Shield, and they said I need to get it. I was like, " Ain't nothing broken here. Everything is brand new." That was my old house. I ended up selling the house, and I moved to where I am now. This house has two furnaces. It has two ACs, the hot water tank, and a stove. It's gotta be about 15 years old, but it's considered a high-end stove. The refrigerator is kinda high-end. It was like $10,000 brand new but it's gotta be about 16 years old. So, I don't wanna replace all these things, but I'm scared that they may go out. I said, "Let me go ahead and try this service."
I see the value in it now because I don't know the history of this house in terms of the mechanicals or the furnaces. I like the convenience of having AHS. The people they send out are pretty good. I've recommended it to a friend who is an older fella and kinda like me who doesn't wanna be bothered with trying to call different repair people that no one wants to look up and you gotta pay 5 to $600. I just like to pay my $40 something a month with AHS.

Whenever we need service, AHS is good. They make arrangements and come. Whenever they have to refer me to someone, it has been easy. But whenever they have to come up with a replacement part, it takes forever. We've had two instances in which the appliances were old. The oven was one and then, we had a cooktop. When they don’t have the parts, it takes forever. We called and they forgot the date. It also seemed like we had to tell the story from zero to the last conversation to everyone. Nobody knew what the other guy was doing. But otherwise, it has been okay. My Tech was good. They installed the oven and it has been working fine.
Every time that we have air conditioning issues, which seems to be every year, we think that we get ripped off by the people AHS sends us. They have to charge us for replacing the Freon every time and we always pay 400 bucks. I talked to an expert in air conditioning and I was told that they don't need to replace the Freon. They could save and reuse it. I realized that we get taken every time and I’m upset. I am not 100 percent satisfied, but I would recommend AHS. For a homeowner, this type of insurance is necessary because at least, you have a known amount of money that you pay and you would not be hit with surprise bills.

I had a claim for the AC unit and they charged for Freon for it. As soon as they put Freon in it, the AC was pretty much immediately cool. But about five days later, the AC unit no longer cooled. So I went online and started another service request for a follow up. I got an email on that second request saying that the company will reach out to me. I didn’t hear from them for about two days. I signed back in to AHS portal and it said that I have to call the AC repair company. So I called them, left a voicemail, and they called me later that night. They’re supposed to reach out to my tenant to go back on site to figure out what’s going on.
The AHS system automatically emailed me saying that I would get a call from the AC repair company. But it seems like their system was not accurate. I waited for a couple of days. I thought they would’ve reached out to my tenant, but they never did. It would be nice if AHS have their engineers look at how that system works. I talked to the repair company over the phone and it seemed like the tech knew what he was talking about. My concern is I paid almost $300 for the Freon. If there was a leak already, should I have paid that the first time? Should they have fixed it first, and then they fill it up with Freon? I don’t know where that lies. In my mind, if there is a leak and they fix the leak, they would still have to fill it up with Freon. So I’m gonna assume that I’d still have to pay for it. On a side note, this same unit had an issue in late 2018 and I had to get AHS involved, and they fixed it. It’s been working for about a year.
I understand how the process works. But being the landlord, I never get any information on what was done unless I had to request a work order from them. It would be really nice if there was a way that AHS can get the work order and have it uploaded to their website so I could see what had happened. Also, their auto attendant for the phone call if you’re calling to the main number needs to be redone. It takes a while to get somebody throughout the prompts. It would be nice if they had somebody who would answer it like an operator. Because sometimes these prompts don’t make sense for me.
I called the day before yesterday about three or four times and every time I went through the prompts, I would get disconnected after a few rings. So I got pretty frustrated after that because I couldn’t get ahold of anybody. I tried to find a chat feature or some other way of emailing support, but I didn’t see anything there. So I had no other way of reaching out unless I would call every hour and hope that I’d eventually get in.

Hospitality Heating and Air did well. It’s just they had to come out three times. They found a board outside that was shorted out, so the technician replaced that board. Everything worked well. And then, the next time he came, he said, “there was a board inside that was shorting out the outside board,” so he replaced the inside board. And it went fine for about three days. And then, it stopped ticking in. I called them back and they sent somebody else out to put a new set of eyes on it. And it seemed that a fuse that was on the brand new board that they put on the upstairs went out. So, he had to replace a fuse. All he could figure was that the fuse that came from the factory was weak. He replaced the fuse and it’s been working fine. They didn't charge me the second and third time. So, that was good. That’s what they were supposed to do ‘cause it’s less than 30 days. That’s the agreement. We’re happy so far.
AHS also covered my ice maker. And then, it broke down twice. And they changed the contract and said, “We’re not covering your ice maker anymore, but we’re gonna keep charging the same price.” I think they went up on the price this time, maybe because I had too many things. But, we still keep it. We just pay up whatever they ask.

Emerald Appliance came out for our dishwasher and our oven back in February and they were very good. The dishwasher has been an ongoing thing, though everyone tells me that it is in very good shape. It's doing what it's supposed to, with the exception of some soap crystals still being on there. I'm the opposite of handy and I can only go off of what everyone else tells me. But of the different vendors who have been out to our house, Emerald had the most thorough follow up, which I was impressed with. The tech called me back a couple of times and asked about the appliances. And he even emailed me some of the very low-level basic maintenance that we could do with the dishwasher because that's been the problem unit. I thought that was very nice of them.
Home Shield is doing what they are supposed to be. We were hoping for our dishwasher to be replaced because it has caused so many problems. But I can understand them not wanting to put that kind of expense when we've only been a customer for a short time. They have approved the parts going out and stuff. Also, the website is easy to use but it's too basic for my preferences. I would like to see a little bit more status updates on there. I'm a very web kind of person and I love to be able to see what's going on. We've had to call people out like three or four times and they tell me what they were gonna do, however, it all has to be approved by American Home Shield who's administrating the program. Usually, there's some time involved before the representative can come back out to work on the appliance because of approval obtained. And it would be very nice to see that kind of status on their website.

The washer was not spinning and the clothes were left really wet in the machine. I called American Home Shield and they took my info. Then they called me back and set up a service date. A guy from Sears came out and checked it. He was good. He just came and did what he had to do. He said that the machine had a lot of issues and AHS probably wouldn't fix it. They would just give me a settlement. They sent an email that I was able to pick from some various machines that they had. If I did not like that specific machine or the cubic feet or anything like that, they would give me a comparable price. I researched some of the selection they gave me and then I just went to an area store and I got one there. Now, I have a new washer and they're supposed to send me a reimbursement check.

The claims that I’m interested in are the two that have not been dealt with. Weatherwise did their job, and I filled out the form and sent it back to American Home Shield. It’s the refrigerator and the toilet that haven’t been taken care of. The refrigerator has no ice, no water, and all the temperature gauges are not working. I paid $75 twice to have somebody come out. It’s 150 bucks right there. The tech came out and fixed the icemaker because it wasn’t working. And then two weeks later, it stopped working and the water stopped running. And when you open the refrigerator door that shows you all the temperatures that should be in the freezer and the cooler, they’re not lighting up. It’s a $3,000 refrigerator. I haven’t heard anything about it.
The plumber came two weeks ago. They haven’t got back with me. They need to replace the toilet. I had to repair it five times now. 75 x 5 is a new toilet. Because I kept getting the toilet fixed for $75, I said, “No, no, no. 75 x 2 is $150. That’s a new toilet.” So, the contractor finally gave me a new one in my bathroom a couple years ago. But the hallway guest bathroom, two weeks ago was their fifth time. And the tech said, “Well, we can’t get this color.” I said, “Oh, if I was a millionaire, you can get this color.” It’s a beigey pink. I said, “The toilet needs to be replaced. You guys coming and fixing it, and fixing it, and fixing it. It’s not working.”
I even asked for a senior person for the plumbing company. I said, “Do not send Allied Plumbing.” And the guy said, “Well, there were several complaints against them.” That’s no surprise because they came to fix my toilet five times. So, they gave me a new plumbing company, but I wasn't home. Nobody ever calls me when I’m home. So, they sent a senior guy and I explained the situation. He said they would get back with me, but they haven’t.

While I've been making masks for first responders and my husband was watching TV, he asked if my iron was making noise and I said no. So, we started searching for the noise. We realized that it was coming from the outside and that the AC unit was making a screeching sound. I was in Las Vegas and it was two days before the triple-digit weather hit, so I put in a request for a service with AHS. I needed to get it fixed before it was 100 degrees and we were stuck in the house with five kids. Nothing is worse than five kids and hot in the house.
I put the request in on Sunday and the tech from A & R Complete Service was here by Tuesday. He said that he needed to take a quick look, then he said that we were gonna be so happy. He said that the problem was gonna be so simple and that the bearings just needed some grease. Then it worked and the house cooled off. He was so nice and very polite, too. And he had a mask on, which was important because I have an autoimmune disease and I have a lung condition due to my combat service when I was in the military. Aside from that, his mask wasn’t one of those flimsy one layer t-shirt ones, it was like one with the filter and he said that their company was taking really good care of its employees, which was good to know. This was also the best experience I've had with American Home Shield and I was happy that it was something very small.
A while back, I had issues when we had to get our dishwasher fixed. Whoever AHS used the first time said that it had to be replaced. Then I told them that it should be covered by the home insurance and it took that other company three weeks. I finally complained to AHS and they had somebody else come out. The new contractors said that the dishwasher didn’t need to be replaced. They said that it was one of those really good dishwashers and you can't find it anymore. They also said they just needed to have this one part fixed and it worked. Then, I sent AHS an email telling them not to use that first company anymore and that they were horrible. They just didn't wanna do their work. Other than that, I recommend AHS to everybody. I have them on my house that I currently live in and on our rental house that we rent out.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Hopwood Electric came out and it was great. Initially, I called American Home Shield and they scheduled something. They let me know who was going to be taking care of the problem then Hopwood called me. They gave me the first available appointment and showed up within a couple of days. We told them what happened. They went to the panel, located the problem and replaced the part that was causing the problem. They were here for a very short period of time and the issue was taken care of quickly and efficiently. It was perfect.

The little round circle on the sink drain kinda separated so I called the insurance and I spoke with a live person. The tech who came out seemed very knowledgeable. He did the work right away and he finished up. The sink is functioning fine since then. Today, the contractor came over because the freezer went out. But it took somebody weeks before they could come in. I lost a lot of stuff in the freezer because they all got defrosted overnight. The refrigerator wasn’t working at the same time. Luckily we had another refrigerator in the garage that we have to put the stuff in. AHS said they have 24/7 service, but it was not 24/7. When I called the appliance company that they sent in, they weren’t gonna do work. So I would like the service to be quicker in case in an emergency like this happen.

Everything’s working great and I’m very happy. I would recommend him the tech to anybody. However, it’s getting a little expensive with AHS. I’ve been thinking about canceling. I gotta pay 50 bucks a month and I’ve had them out to my house twice in two years. I don’t know if it’s worth it for me to have it. Most of my appliances are brand new so I’m just debating on whether to keep them or not. I might have a problem the minute I cancel.

The company that AHS called came out and fixed the leak in the shower. But they said it was gonna be $197 that wasn’t covered by American Home Shield. My wife got the phone call and I just asked her to tell them to go ahead and do it. Then about three days later, that same company called me back and said that they were reimbursing me the 197 because American Home Shield did cover it. I got the reimbursement back in about three days. Also, when the contractors fixed the leak, they cut a hole in the Sheetrock. I got an email from American Home Shield that said that they were gonna settle it by not having anybody fix the hole. They were just gonna give me $120 to go find somebody else to fix it.

I have had American Home Shield since the past 15 years. We live in a two level home and have central air conditioning. The air conditioning on the first level was not working so we reported to American home shield on April 24, 2020. The technician only came in on April 29. He inspected the air conditioner and then went up in the attic to check the exhaust fan. The technician told that he needs permission from the insurance company to change the wire & he will let the insurance company know.
On May 01, 2020 I get a voicemail from your company that the technician told them they have no access and that is indicated in the item 5 (a) of the contract. Whereas in item # 3 it states that all wiring is covered and the technician had the fill access. I called American Home Shield and let them know that the technician did not state to us that he has no access.
We are senior citizens & are badly inconvenienced in this hot weather. We pay them $47.99 plus $75 /visit. The customer service lady told us that American home shield will not cover the repair and we have to call the repair company and deal directly with them. Why do we need American Home Shield if we have to deal with the contractor ourselves? If I do not get an answer & quick service to repair this complaint, I will be left with only choice to go to my attorney & seek legal help. I am sure this can be resolved amicably without further inconvenience.

I had recently purchased a Home Warranty from AHS Fall of 2019. They have failed on their end to provide any type of replacement cost or reimbursement for repairs. Yet, they still charged me four (4) separate times for their HVAC contractor's system review--which never happened. Before this, they were extremely slow to process our request--even when we expressed that this is urgent due to the fact that we have a 4 month old baby and will not be able to take him to the hospital because of COVID 19.
• January 2020: We have AHS bring out their furnace contractor to evaluate the system—he finds nothing wrong and nothing needs to be repaired or replaced.
• January 2020: I called AHS and told them that their contractor needs to come back and evaluate this system because we could have a potential problem with CO2 and the heat exchanger.
o Their contractor never comes back out.
• March 20, 2020: Our Furnace fails, which means our A/C system cannot use ‘FAN’ mode… and we are not able to Run A/C in the house.
• March 23, 2020: I go on the AHS website and schedule a contractor—noting that we do not have A/C and this needs to be fixed immediately—especially since this was not taken care of in January 2020.
• March 24, 2020: AHS assigns a contractor to fix the repairs on 03.27.20.
o We call back and say that it’s unacceptable over and over.
• March 25, 2020: AHS agrees to make this a priority and expedite—they state that they can get a contractor out to my house the next day (03.26.20) but it will be a new contractor from the original one scheduled.
• March 26, 2020: AHS contractor #2 does not show up—they have no clue about the appointment for that day 03.26.20… they said they can’t come until Friday, 03.27.20.
• March 26, 2020: AHS reluctantly agrees to allow us to use an outside vendor. We tell them it’s Keith A/C and they said that they are okay and not on their ‘black ball’ list of contractors.
• March 26, 2020: AHS verbally agrees to proceed with the new furnace installation and that we should email our invoice & work details to their AHS Orders Email address.
• March 26, 2020: Our contractor (Keith A/C) contacts AHS to confirm the materials they are using and AHS starts to balk, saying that these are too expensive and must be approved through vendor authorization group.
o AHS states to me that they have received all the documents they need and should be approving later that night so we can complete the installation on Friday 03.27.20.
o AHS Verbally agrees later that night of 03.26.20 that we are good to go on Keith completing this work with their materials.
• March 26, 2020: AHS, for some reason, charges me $100.00 Twice.
• March 27, 2020: Keith completes work and I submit the work details and invoice to AHS via email they provided.
• March 29, 2020: I receive an email stating that my checking account is getting debited AGAIN for $100.00.
• April 1, 2020: AHS Leaves me a voicemail stating that this work is now NOT approved and they will not cover it.
It's not only unfortunate that they are refusing to reimburse us it's fraudulent. We are pursuing action in small claims court, as well as reporting to various bureaus and our state's attorney general.

Cannot get company to respond, a/c unit has been out since the 6th, they are setting the appointment for Friday the 24th and they hope parts will be here by then. Service was on the 13th. Just paid for 340 worth of freon, then another call for a new switch, now needs a new compressor and 440 worth of more freon. They will not send same tech back out, so there is no warranty on the repair work done. I ask to speak with a supervisor, they tell me that is not possible. I am canceling every warranty we carry with them and using a new company that will at least talk to you.
Original Review: I Have been with the company for over 10 years and they have always fixed what was needed to be fixed, I am a Realtor and manage over 100 rental properties and have encouraged owners to protect themselves with a warranty. I will no longer be able to do this because of the company's inability to answer the phone promptly (25 minutes on hold and counting). This is the 3rd time to send them for a repair on one property. My very first claim with Home Shield got denied. It was a garage door opener issue and it was denied based on the fact that they said there was some power surge that damaged some electrical components within the garage door opener. It was the original garage door opener that was in the house when I bought it. And I don't remember any power surge issues. I was disappointed that that was the outcome of the very first claim. Other than that, I've had two AC issues and both of them were addressed quickly. The most recent was when Grady's found an issue with the switch and the evaporator unit. They repaired it and it was a simple fix.
Submitting claims is smooth. I've called myself and they would say that the supplier would call me within 24 hours or something of the initial claim submittal. Usually, I would try to take matters into my own hands because I don't wanna wait up to 24 hours. I wanna at least get something on the schedule right away. So, in this case, I called the very next day. But I thought the process went smooth. I did it online and got something back right away from American Home Shield. Grady's has been very good to work with both times, so I've been happy with them and the AC guys.
I've got an older home so I wish there was some kind of a sliding scale for how much it costs to submit the claim. In this particular case, it was a really simple fix and I could've fixed it myself. It wasn't worth 125, which is what I had to pay to get the guy out. I wish they could start at 75 and the contractor would come out and if it turns out it's more than just a trivial fix, maybe then it would go up to 125, which is my normal value. But overall, I'm pretty happy with Home Shield. Relative to other home warranty companies, it's just as good, if not better, than anything else.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

I’ve had AHS for a while now. It’s always easy for me to be able to go online and get the claim processed and not have to have too much delay. Recently, A-1 Quality Care came out for our AC. The guy seemed to know what he was doing. He got up there, checked it out, and he was able to tell me exactly what I assumed was going on. He verified that I was correct. The entire hose had broken off from the actual unit itself so it had to be replaced. It took a couple of hours ‘cause he still had to get the actual hose and cut it to size then install it.
I’ve seen the age that we are at this point in time, people are not having the funds, and AHS should go back to the $50 ‘cause they put up the service fee to $75. That would help a lot of people be able to get a lot of things. Cause $50, you can get two things done for [$100 03:40] versus one. I’m a cost detective. I’m always trying to save. That way, we stay happy, AHS stays in business, everybody wins.

The contractor was able to resolve it within two minutes. The tech was very good. He was very courteous and well mannered. But when I had a call that I had tried to complete about eight months earlier, the contractor was really tardy. My sink faucet had broken and it needed to be replaced, and the tech guy wouldn't even do that. He filed the paperwork really, really late so I wound up having to call an outside plumber to replace my faucet. I had to pay much more money for it. Then they called about two weeks later asking if I still needed someone to come out and replace it. So that was way slow. But overall, I'll be with Home Shield for two years in August and I like the idea that my major appliances are covered in case something goes wrong with them.

I submitted a claim for the washer machine and the refrigerator at the same time, and Sears Appliance had to come back out for both of those. The first time they came to fix the washer machine, they said it was due to a clutch issue. But it wouldn’t run through the cycles. It turned out to be something else. So they came back and fixed that. Then with the refrigerator, the reason the refrigerator’s side was icing up was because the seal was broken. We had to catch that and say it needed to be replaced. I said, “I’ll bet it’ll stop icing up,” which it has, one the seal was replaced. Everything is good now and the tech were helpful. The experience with them was pretty good.
But in terms of submitting the claim to American Home Shield, it was tough to get through on the phone. I was sitting there on hold for an hour. I needed to call because I was sitting there on the website and it was not working. It kept telling me, “Error. Please try again in a few moments.” I tried it with another device and got the same results. It was so hard to go on the website. I wish the website worked and that I could get a hold of people more quickly. It was all during this COVID stuff. It was a nightmare.

Our outdoor faucet had a crack in it. I submitted the request online and when it was time to chat, it said that there were so many people in the queue. Neal’s Plumbing was quick, professional and they got the job done. They installed a new pipe. They also let me know that they don’t do ceilings. That’s when American Home Shield will be in place to get somebody out to take care of that. The experience was a great, professional, to the point and there was no dilly-dally.

I would go in the shower in the morning and not five minutes later, the water would turn cold. The heater would say 90 and I would turn it on and off and then jack the temperature up to 125, which is what it usually is at. I would go downstairs and wait a few minutes. I would get some hot water and I can finish showering. But my kids wouldn’t come here because they can’t even take a shower. And it drives my wife crazy.
Home Shield sent out 1st American and the tech went up there and turned my hot water up. They made adjustments and he said that was all he could do then. It didn’t show any problem. There was something on there that tells the codes and it didn’t show any code. Also, he drew water in the bathtub. It’s a three-quarter inch pipe and he didn’t even get the bottom of the bathtub covered in water. Maybe he had two inches around the drain and he said it was fine. I don't think they gave it enough time. But 1st American was absolutely wonderful. They were here on time and they were clean and courteous. Everything went as planned. Even if American Home Shield doesn’t do anything with it, I want them to come back and do my hot water heater.
After the guys left, I took a shower and it was cold when I got in there. I waited till the hot water came and darn if it didn’t turn cold. I stood aside and let the water run for about five minutes. It started to heat up again and I was able to finish my shower. The next day, my wife goes to take a shower and she said the same thing happened to her. This is my first experience with a tankless hot water heater and it isn’t worth it. I think I wanna replace it and I wanna be done with it. I’ve been dealing with it for a year and a half now. I’ve had this looked at three or four times in the last month. I also had it looked at a year ago when I first moved in. But I’m totally satisfied with American Home Shield. It’s beyond their control. They're sending another guy with a second opinion. I’m gonna tell him to fill that tub with hot water and I'll believe it’s working.

Mountain Heating & Cooling came out and looked at my issue. A few weeks later, I called because I haven't heard from them. They sent a text but I don't check it that much. They came back and the tech said, "Okay, your Freon or whatever pressure's a little low. We can fill that up no problem. But you're leaking right here." He said, "This needs replaced because it's so old and it's leaking." They said they will replace a bunch of stuff and it turned out that it's so old that they couldn't get parts. So, they had to replace the whole unit.
Initially, I called American Home Shield because we were having a problem with the breaker that was switching on and off. It wasn't working right. They called Mountain Heating, and they contacted me and came out. Mountain Heating was great. I called the lady, and she got me set up. She said, "Okay, we got your stuff here. So when do you want it, we can come out tomorrow." I said, "Great, come on out." They were here the next day, and it's done. Everything works great. Everything went by smoothly. I was given American Home Shield when I bought the house four years ago, and then it was for a year and it lapsed. Then we said, "Well, we'd feel better if we had that again." So, I called and kept it on.

When he came out, he was very nice, helpful, and mannerly. He didn’t just fix it, he explained to me about it. I liked all of the workmen although I’ve only had one that I didn’t care for. I liked the customer service aspect of it. AHS gets someone right to me like my problem’s taken care of and it works all really well. The only thing I didn’t like was when they raised my premium to a dollar. They didn’t notify me first then they just changed it, taking out. I have it put in my credit card ‘cause that’s how I like to have it done.

However, the last time I called, I had two things on my order and the place that was called didn’t have both orders and I never got my leaky faucet fixed. The contractor said it wasn’t on there. After he left, I called AHS and they said it was there and that they would call me back. They kept promising me that they would call back and come back and do that, but they never did. That was in March when everybody was just hearing about the coronavirus, so I figured that was why they never called me back. But to date, they have never, ever finished that claim, which kinda upset my husband. AHS they should call after the job has been done to make sure that it was done right, instead of so much after the fact. Other than that, it’s very easy to file a claim and they come right away. East Coast Appliance came out and this particular claim went well. Because we were gonna be out of state for about three weeks, I told them to go ahead and close the claim out. But the technician had called me and said that he had the part. So I just need to call him and have him bring it out to me. That's on the microwave. He has fixed the washer.
But I've had three claims with American Home Shield and I cancelled it after a year. Their representatives were fine but I was not thrilled with the program because on one of the claims, it excluded 55% of the cost. It was a big difference. So I had the AC fixed by someone else. American Home Shield ended up giving me a buyout on it.

One of the lights in the kitchen ceiling was out and the circuit breaker kicked off the kitchen and the garage door twice. The technician replaced the circuit breaker and apparently, there was a loose wire in the kitchen light in the ceiling. The one in the same line is out so I changed the light bulb. I think it has something to do with the wiring. The technician said to call within 60 days but I don't wanna get charged for another visit. They might try to charge me since it's another light. My husband had looked at it before and it's because something gets hot, the wiring gets hot. My husband was an architect. He knew all that. Although the guy was just as nice as he could be, I think, in general with home warranty companies, it seems like they're in a hurry. Although with this guy I felt that he took a lot of time. He answered my questions about something else that I was having problems with.
Another is thing is that there were a lot of problems with the air conditioning. I had to call somebody local because the sensor in the attic quit working. It didn't show that the water level of the pan was overflowing, and it ruined my whole ceiling. I've had it checked for mold and I had to have the ceiling redone. American Home Shield had been out just a week prior to that and didn't find anything wrong. When I called them to come back, they can't because it was weekend. I had to call someone in to vacuum up the water. I was very angry about that. Since my husband has passed, I am not confident in those areas. We've stuck with American Home Shield for years because I need someone that I can call at a reasonable price to come in. We finally had to replace the system and I'm happy. AHS has been good to me. My financial advisor thought I should drop it but I'm afraid to do that because this is an old house and things can be fixed for $75.

With Home Shield, we had two techs from the same contractor and while one of them was super nice the other guy didn't wanna do anything. He said it wasn't his job to install or even unbox anything and just wanted to leave stuff at the door. All he did was run AHS down. We also had a hot water tank contractor who wanted to charge me to have my heater plumbed to the outside of our house. He said that the way it was hooked up to electricity was not up to code and he wanted to charge extra money to hook it up. I called another contractor myself and found that what he said was a lie. Still, I had to pay the first water tank contractor and AHS reimbursed me. Then, I had two electrical techs come over to make sure the installation was up to code and a licensed plumber came to install my hot water tank. I had to pay for that service out of pocket because the people that were sent by AHS were idiots.
More recently, the broiler in my stove caught fire. It was out and would not work. Plus, a knob on the bake and broil made noise constantly on its own. I would have to go to it and move it around so it would stop. That time, my refrigerator went completely out as well. It would freeze everything on one side and then everything would get warm on the refrigerator side. It was also making noise and there was water all over my floor. My washer was also beating up the walls around it as it couldn't stay balanced. It would not fling the water out of the clothes.
I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and we waited on Sears for four weeks. We got tired of Sears putting us off and called AHS back. Their other contractor, Bennett Heat Air & Electrical, Inc. went to us. They have been to us before and were super nice when they fixed our dishwasher. This time, the tech looked up all the parts needed. Techs from Bennett are nice professional people.

When I purchased my other house, and when I sold my other house, I was given a one-year warranty. When the old one ran out, I started calling around, getting quotes and American Home Shield seemed to be the best one. It was with my old house and I stuck with them and transferred it to our current house. I've had them for 10 years over there, and a few years here.
Recently, I was having an issue with our microwave and it had something to do with the door and the switches inside. When you close it and as soon as you hit the button, the whole thing would kick the circuit breaker. I made a request onine and it was easy. I received a text or email saying that the claim was submitted and that AA Dependable Appliance Service would be in contact with me. The lady from the company called me directly that same day and asked me questions like what was going on with the unit. I told her, then we set the appointment out for two days later. That was the earliest.
They gave me a four-hour window and the guy called me 30 minutes prior to arriving. He came in, had a mask on, and asked the same questions that they asked me on the phone when they originally called me, like if anyone has been sick in the last couple weeks or 72 hours. I had no issues with them. Since they fixed the microwave the first time, they replaced a few parts and they had to order something. He came back the second time, did it, and so far, so good. It was great.

My house is about 20 years old so there have been plenty of issues so far, but everything's been good with American Home Shield. I like the ability to have a service for $75. Sometimes, people come out and check out things and it's either not covered or not something that they can handle, which is good to have the information for them rather than paying somebody a bunch of money to come out and not fix something. The contractors come and tell me what's wrong or what they can or can't do, then I kinda go forward from there and figure it out.
I had a faucet as well as a dishwasher valve that were leaking. The faucet was kind of repaired by one of my repairman at the time that I had worked with separate from American Home Shield so the contractor couldn't really work on it at that time, which was fine. The people from Home Choice Services gave me a good recommendation as to how to reach out to the manufacturer of my faucet to see if it's covered by the warranty or if they would issue a refund or send me a new one, which is all good information. When the dishwasher valve was leaking, which is a separate service call to American Home Shield, the contractor came out and fixed the dishwasher valve fine and it was good, so they were good.

I submitted one claim for the dishwasher and another one for electric. The dishwasher was a mechanic issue. The dishwasher was not drying the dishes. The guy went and checked. It was missing some parts. But he got back to AHS and AHS called me and recommended to buy a new one. The other one was electric. The electric installation on my wall was not right for my dryer. The guy was really helpful. He helped fix the stuff. He took care of the job. Both of the claims experiences were good.
Submitting the claim to AHS was stressful though. First, it was a long wait on the phone before the people answer. I had to wait 20 minutes to open a claim by phone. And whenever the first time that I called, at least the person could not answer me. It looked like she did not hear me. I don’t know if that’s the same person who did that, but it happened three times to me. I listened to that music, and whenever that person answered my call, she said, “Hello? Hello? Hello?” Then she hanged up on me. And they didn’t call back.
They should improve the phone calls and information as well. They need to be faster to answer. Another good suggestion, in other call centers, you have an option to hang up, leave your number, that the people will call you back. American Home Shield doesn’t have that so you have to be holding the phone for 20 minutes, stopping your life just on the phone till somebody hangs up on you.
Whenever AHS sends me the offer to have the appliance that I will be able to buy a new one, how is the procedure, they don’t have in their website. Whenever they update the claim there to offer what’s given to the customer, they should have the option to download or have a pdf there to explain how to work that process. I had to call three times to receive the document by e-mail. AHS can make that easier, like with an FAQ question.

I’m a single mom with two kids and I own my home. My niece was the one who told me about American Home Shield and she said that when things go wrong I could call them. The air conditioner was not cooling, then it was freezing. And it was the third time that it happened where it got hot up here, so we submitted a claim with AHS. They sent out a tech and the visit was good. The man who came out showed me that there are three different things that could be wrong with it, and that he could fix the current problem for a fee. But then, the two other things would be going bad. Somebody has been out for the unit three times for the same problem, too. They came out quickly and treated the problem. Then the AC would seem to be okay for a period of time after the service, but the same thing would happen again. If I fix an issue, it would just be like a Band-aid, so I need to get back with the person who came out and order the new air conditioner.
The contractor also told me that whatever was wrong with the AC would cost $300 something to fix, but potentially, I could get that taken off of the price of the new air conditioner if I get it now. I know the warranty is almost up but they obviously can't replace the whole air conditioning because the other stuff hasn't totally gone bad yet.

I submitted a claim online to AHS but then I didn't have a lot of details I could put in the system. Still, I scheduled service and also asked AHS if my claim was going to be covered. There, I told the reps that the issue was for a fluorescent light with a ballast that had gone out. The reps looked at my contract and told me the issue was covered. I told them to keep their tech on schedule. An electrician from SJDI Electric Inc. came and sure enough, the ballast was the problem. SJDI called AHS who then said the issue was not covered.
I got on the phone with AHS and the rep verified that they shouldn't have told me that the problem was covered. When I called customer service, I got somebody there who had no idea what they’re talking about. There's a discrepancy. If I had known that my claim wasn't covered, then I would have just hired an electrician myself rather than paying $75 to AHS and then paying an electrician out of pocket. AHS then said that they would pull the phone call I had and check it. They said they’d call me back either the coming Friday or Monday, and I haven’t received a call back. When I've used home warranties in the past, I didn't have a good experience. I've always canceled them after the first year. Now, I'm in my new home and this experience with AHS was gonna be my trial run. I will keep my AHS contract because it's paid for a year. After the year ends, I'll cancel it.

The rep there said that there was a recall on my ice maker and they have ordered the part for me. They could've had better communication as no one let me know that. Still, I've had a lot of good experiences with AHS and their contractors.

My brother is a Realtor and said he talked to Lisa who was very nice. I was, “Okay. Well, I trust Lisa.” Then I went with American Home Shield. Recently, I made a request and the service was really fast. I wasn’t in contact with the guy from Plumbers, Inc. because of the coronavirus, but he said that I needed a new water heater. They wanted to charge over $500 to install it and do modifications. I can't afford that right now, so I just asked to do the cash out where I’ll just buy my own water heater and I’ll have somebody else install it for cheaper. It was super easy. The phone tag took so long, but they recently sent out the payout.

It was really quick and they came out two days later. The tech fixed it that day. He was great, really professional, and very knowledgeable and he gave some tips. Having coverage with Home Shield is easy and convenient. All I had to pay was the $100 deductible.

Other than that, we're happy with Home Shield. Recently, we had a leak under the two sinks. They sent B & L Plumbing and we really liked them. Their work was very good. We also told our daughter about AHS. She has a contract with them for a long time and she's happy with them, too.

I've been with American Home Shield for 20 something years now. I've never had any bad experiences in terms of requesting a service and with the follow through, and all of the people that they contract with that have come to do work have been very professional. In the past, I have called depending on what the situation was and the severity. But the last couple of times, I submitted claims online.
This last time, we thought it was the washer because during the rinse cycle, it would drain the water on the floor of the garage. And that's why I called Home Shield up. It wasn't until right after that we knew a little something was going on with the sink, but we thought, "Okay, we'll call out a plumber." But I didn't realize it was the same thing. So when the contractor came and checked the washer and made sure it wasn't that, I knew for sure. I said, "Okay, I got to get the plumbers in here." We have the appointment for Thursday. The guy that came out to check the appliance said he put on the invoice that it was a plumbing issue and not an appliance issue. But he told me they should not charge me again for the $75 service fee but they are doing that. So, I need to call them and clarify that. But that's the only issue I've ever had with them.

One of our homes previously had American Home Shield and my parents recommended it. Overall, the contractors have been good. Grady's Air Conditioning advised me the type of damage, what they could do and other options that were available as well as the limitations of the insurance and what it would and would not cover. They even provided me cost inflation so I can understand that going forward. They were very forthright and explained very clearly. They also respected my wishes that they wear a mask, as well as I would while they were in the house. They went above and beyond by wearing booties and gloves and only took them off when they were actually working on the equipment and far away from others in the house. So, I was very pleased with what they did.
We also had a microwave that literally had a small electrical fire in it. The technician came out and confirmed there was electrical fire and explained how it could probably happen again, which has matched my expectations. He explained that the safest action would be to try and get a new microwave and did just that. I was very happy with the results because I did my measurements and he confirmed it. In a timely manner, we got a new one in and it fit perfectly. It was a good product.
That's exactly what we like to hear. We are happy to know that AHS is beneficial to you. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have great week.

Our washing machine would not turn off the hot water and when the cycle was done, it would drip water onto the clothes, which would become saturated. If you're not Johnny-on-the-spot then it takes you an hour and 20 to dry your clothes, which is not optimal for power consumption. For the same incident, the dryer was only drying on high heat, so we needed something fixed in the dryer’s heat settings as well. The technician went back to the office and said they were ordering parts. We waited patiently for a week, and nothing. Eventually, they called.
The parts were stranded in a big city in Florida and a quite sassy element has infiltrated some of Home Shield's service desks. She said I didn't know what I was talking about, that it always took that long. I put up with that and she put up with me. We’ve been with Home Shield for years. We love their service, but companies move up as well as move down. Some are good, while some are on their way down. Home Shield has to be very careful because they almost ran us off this time with their high-rolling. It was very close. Still, we got through the call, so everything was great.
The unit ran for about a week. On a separate incident, we had another appliance that woudn't work and Home Shield dispatched Hayes. They sent a guy out in the next 48 hours and he fixed the issue on site. Hayes Appliance was wonderful. They're nice people and they're very efficient too. We like them. The unit has been working since and at the moment, everything is great.

It’s easy to submit claims when you’re online, but to get ahold of American Home Shield on the phone is impossible. On my recent claim, I had a lot of electrical outlets that weren’t working and the people that came out were fine. Even though this last time was fine, I’ve had some work done to my oven and I’m not really happy with the whole thing. I have a Dacor oven range with the slide in and it has a gas stove on top of it. I've had somebody come out a few times to fix it and the last time that they came to fix it, they had to change the control panel on the front of it. There is a plastic part on that control panel that it sits on, and every single time they've been out to fix my oven for one thing or another, they've messed up the appearance of the whole front face of it.
My oven works, but that thing has been cracked and the whole control panel is now starting to fall apart. Now the control panel is lighting and it does not want to operate correctly. Where you press the buttons for the oven is on the front of the unit, not towards the back of it. Any time you press on it, it’s falling, and I’m really upset because I’m not the one who cracked it. I have tried to get that one piece replaced and I can’t get it replaced because they don’t make that part anymore. I called American Home Shield and talked to two of their people trying to complain about it and I got hung up twice on. I ended up getting disconnected and then I tried calling back, and I couldn't get through to anybody.
Another thing is that, now American Home Shield wants to increase my premium for the year. When I first started out, it was almost $400, now it’s $587 and the reason I get is because I've used their service. They are are treating us like it’s a homeowners insurance. You file a claim on it, then they’re going to up it the next year, which is stupid. It’s not like it’s insurance. They are offering us service and they are charging more for using that. That doesn’t make sense to me, so I’m not happy with the premium part of it as well, and I’m thinking about canceling because of it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I had the warranty for a year when I first moved into my new home. And I just was looking online and reading Home Shield's reviews and I said I’ll give it a try. I called Home Shield when my dryer stopped working completely. That was my first time ever using them. The customer service was polite. I was very surprised because I called in the evening because I was so frantic. I was drying stuff and the dryer just automatically stopped. I was very impressed with the rep. She walked me through how the claim process was going to happen and told me that before the contractor comes I had to pay the $100 and that they would get someone out as soon as possible, which was fine because the person came the very next day. I was very pleased with that.
AA Dependable Appliance Service's tech had to replace something in the dryer that was plastic and that had to do with the heat thing. It’s working now. The tech took his time, was very polite, courteous and even told me something that I did not know - that my dryer was pushed back too far. So, he suggested that we pull it out some, and he checked the vent. He was pretty good. I was impressed with him.

My heating unit on my pool was not working and I called American Home Shield and told them. I paid the $75 fee and they scheduled a company to come out. The first group that came out spent about three minutes on-site and didn’t call me or anything. They called me back and said they were not going to approve my claim. I disagreed because this thing was here when I came and I sent them pictures. It’s a residential unit. Then, the Pool Crew called me and said that they were contacted by AHS to come out. They told me whenever they had a guy scheduled they would call me. I talked to the lady and four days later, I got a phone call from their field personnel. He said he was gonna be in the area the next day and asked if he could come out. He said nobody has to be home because it's in the backyard. I told him how to get around through the gate and everything.
He showed up and he followed up with a phone call later. He said it’s an older unit and the manifold and everything was broken and that he was submitting the claim to AHS. AHS called me back about two days later and told me that the claim was approved but there were some things within the claim that were on and above just the equipment. I would have a service fee that The Pool Crew would reach out to me for the payment. But they were ordering the equipment. It was another week and The Pool Crew reached out to me and said they got the part in and they scheduled it. I paid the additional fee and they came out and replaced the unit that was not working. Three days after that, I got back into town and looked at what they did and it appeared that they did very good work. It appears like everything that they did, from their piping to cleaning up, was all very professional. If I have any more problems with my pool, that’s who I'm calling.

Also, the compressor needed to be cleaned. Submitting that claim was efficient, friendly, and professional. Everything was great. I went to the American Home Shield website and submitted the claim. The time frame on getting a contractor out is usually about two or three days. This particular one, Texas Best Heating & Air, was real good. I was very satisfied. The unit was not cooling and it would freeze up but now everything works perfectly. The tech told me what he did, then gave us tips on how to better our electricity with this unit. People should get American Home Shield and use them.
Their website is user-friendly but it needs to have more detailed options. It says, “No cooling,” but there’s no way to put, “It’s freezing over". One of the main titles could have sub-titles to where you can actually detail more what the issue is. Also, it doesn't say when to expect until you receive a phone call or an email, then they’ll let you know when the contractor will be able to come, or they’ll call you to schedule an appointment.

The first guy that came out said there was something wrong with the thing. He told me to test it for about four or five days then give him a call and see if it would come on. It worked for the two or three days, like he said, in the third day, it came on so I called him right back. He said that I have to call Home Shield. The other guy they sent put a new one on and that didn't work. He couldn't figure out why it was like that. He went out and got a part that didn't work. He said that he would sit and watch it come on as it's an automatic timer. He waited about 35 minutes for it to come on and it finally did. He said that this works. So, I have a lot of respect for that company. I thought what they did was excellent. They spent a lot of time.
American Home Shield is getting better people, better companies that represent them better. We had problems with the AC people. They fixed something, and the technician didn't evacuate the system, and it all clogged up. Of course, the company came out and fixed it, but it should have been done right the first time. The way I look at things is you don't leave the house 'till things are working, and you do it right.

We thought we had a leak in the drainpipe between the walls. He had a look and he said something was dripping. He ran the air conditioner in here and there was a drainpipe that had broken loose in my air conditioner up in the attic. So he went up there, saw it was, went out, got some glue and glued it back.

When the AC unit was not cooling, I also submitted the claim for that through the website. They gave me a notification that I would be contacted within 24 hours. The person from the company, My Maintenance Pro TN, called and told me they received a notification from American Home Shield that I needed service and it had been assigned to them. The first electrician was terrible but I have high praise for the second company, #1 R&R Electrical Allstars. The guy who came was very amenable and knowledgeable about what was going on. The first guy said they couldn’t do anything because we’re missing screws. But when this guy came, he said we were not missing any screws. I knew that. He said all our covers were here and all our screws were here. He hooked up to the timer and said it needed to be replaced so they would have to put it in to get the timer replaced.
He was wonderful. I even asked him a question about stuff that he wasn't doing. My pool has a light in it and I don't think American Home Shield covered the lighting in the pool because the wires go under the ground. The light is inside the pool. He said they don’t work on the lights in pools so he doesn’t really do this but he told me that he could the transformer running but that it was the pool people who have to make that decision if they want to replace. But he said that it takes our watts down then takes it up but at least it was running, that we do have power to it, and that we do know it's running. So he was a wonderful young man.
I was also telling him what happened with the first people, how I wanted a second opinion from a different company and how that was how he got here. He goes, "This first people, were they this company?" I asked how he knew and he said he constantly has had to go behind them. So I'm super satisfied with the second electrician that came out. He did a great job.

For the most part with American Home Shield contractors, I've had mostly professional people that came to do the repairs that I've claimed. What made High Priority Plumbing and Services better to me was the gentleman who came in, looked at the issue with me and allowed me to express what I thought and had seen. He analyzed, took pictures, then he explained to me what he thought. He told me that he was gonna start working and he'd keep me informed on the process. After being here for about 30 minutes, he called me in and said, "This is what I see. This is the path I plan to proceed to correct this issue. It's gonna take me a little bit." Once he finished the process, he brought me back over and explained to me exactly what he did and why it would work. I was pretty happy with the service. It was perfect.
American Home Shield's automated system is horrible, though. When I call for example, it asks you for the information. It asks me, "Give me the phone number that's associated with this account." I have more than one account with them because I have more than one home, and I've called several times to correct that because I can recall having a service order call in, they show up at the other property. It seems that they haven't corrected that problem.
