    After spending 12 hours on the phone trying to get ahold of customer service after dealing with the automated system hanging up on me after it would put me on hold for 15 minutes was ridiculous. It did the 12 times. Finally after dialing from two different telephones I got into customer service to set up for an appointment. If my automated system operated this way I would be firing everyone in my IT Department and finding someone that was more qualified to fix the problem. Other than that service of a human was satisfactory. My rating is for the poor phone system not for the customer service person.

    Updated on 09/22/2020: Over a month ago I submitted a claim for my pool pump. It took a couple weeks before a contractor was assigned. I received a call stating that they simply couldn’t find anyone so I was offered to find someone myself and they would reimburse me. Well I declined because I had a problem getting reimbursement from another call prior to this one so they set a vendor to come a week later. Vendor shows up. He changes the pool pump. Replaces the timer. Still having the same problem. He calls me out to show me the work he’s done and I say it’s still doing the same thing. So it wasn’t fixed. He was very unpleasant telling me this is why he never takes out of town jobs and he definitely won’t take another one. Well he left with nothing fixed. I still had the same problem. He told me and American Home Shield that it was something underground and said I need to call American Leak Detection and I did because he said I had a blockage.

    Well I called American leak detection and they came out 2 days later. They found nothing wrong with my underground plumbing. Had to pay them 370 for nothing. Called the contractor back. Told him what they said so he desired to have their number so he can call them because I guess he didn’t believe me. Well I call American Home Shield. They opted to send someone for a second opinion. Well it’s been 2 more weeks and they assigned another contractor.

    I called for an appointment and the contractor said he doesn’t come to my area so he cancelled the assignment. Called American Home Shield back. They had no idea why he canceled the job so they said they would call me back in 24 hours. Well it’s been 4 days. I get a call yesterday saying they decline a second opinion. I explained that the contractor they sent said it was underground and I had American leak detection say it wasn’t and I had papers to prove it so she says they will speak to supervisor and call me back. It’s never gonna get resolved and I’m over it.

    Original review: First time I called they got an AC tech. Took two weeks for them to replace my unit. Two weeks ago I had a leak in my pool. Took 3 weeks and they couldn’t find anyone to come out. I had to call someone myself and still waiting for my reimbursement. So I’m paying for something they don’t even offer.

    American Home Shield's plan had the best coverage for air conditioning and heating, which down here in Oklahoma is always a problem because it's so hot. AHS paid the most. A couple of the other companies had a lot of limitations on AC. That is the biggest problem down here. Overall, AHS has been a really good value. My AC had to be serviced and checked out because I was selling the house and the inspector thought it was not cooling 100%. I did a claim for it online and it was fine. My given contractor for this was A-US Air Conditioning of Texas and their guy was perfect. He took precautions for the Coronavirus. He had booties for his shoes, had a mask, and had sanitizer. He took all the normal stuff. It took him half an hour to do the service. He checked it all like the pressure settings then he added a pound of coolant. It was pretty easy.

    We had two service requests with American Home Shield. The second request for my AC was phenomenal. The first request was a horrible experience. I had a leak. The specific issue I was having was there was no cold air coming out of my AC unit. So, I went and made sure what I could do. In a sense of not knowing much about it and knowing that I gotta change my filters consistently, I changed my filters thinking that would solve the problem. It did not. That was when I put the claim in with American Home Shield stating, “There was no cold air coming out.”

    They sent a technician out from the first company. He was very rude. As he walked towards my home, I can sense rudeness coming off of the gentlemen. He didn't say hi, and simple things like closing the door behind him was a problem. It was not a good experience. I do not wanna work with that company again. That was probably the worst experience I had with American Home Shield with a subcontractor. That gentleman, for me, spoke for the whole company.

    I had rodents in my attic. So, the first gentleman said, “I can’t work up there because you have rodent droppings.” I said, “Okay. I get that. I’ll get that cleaned up. I thought the company that I had go up there to mitigate that issue, in a sense, closing up spots, making sure there was no rodents up there, etcetera, etcetera, did that as well, so my apologies. I’ll take care of that.” He said, “Well, I can’t move forward on tracing the leak for your AC unit that is completed.” So, I said, “Understood. I mean, if there's legalities you gotta follow, understood. But could you put the fire out, in a sense of you know I have a leak, and should you put Freon in there and I’ll pay the difference? I know Home Shield only covers a certain amount, but at least I’m up and working until I can get that done.” And he said, “Nope. I gotta put the claim in with American Home Shield. I can’t move forward until that gets done.”

    I just felt like I wasn’t getting 100% of that company’s service. It was really quick. It was on a weekend. I followed up with American Home Shield, requested, and then I spoke to a young lady. She wasn’t too receptive because I’m pretty sure she heard a lot of problems happening. But after I gave her the synopsis of the issue, they understood. They sent out another contractor.

    That contractor was phenomenal. They came. They said, “What did the other person do, the other company do?” I said, “Well, not really anything. They said they didn't wanna do anything in the attic and trace the leak because whatever issue, I had rodent droppings.” He said, “Well, I get that. You should get that fixed. But the leak is right outside.” He showed me the leak and he mitigated it, and he was out in 40 minutes. Everything has been great.

    I also asked that gentleman, “What's next? In a sense of stated that you didn't find the leak and it leaks out again, I spent $400 out of my pocket for the Freon.” He said, “You have a two-month warranty with us.” It’s been three weeks, and everything’s working great. Before the repair, it was uncomfortable. I have a wall unit. It’s an evaporator cooler. So, I went out there and got that working for the time being. It was hot. I had opened up windows. I have children, so we did our best. I’m super grateful that everything’s working now. I have a family of three, my wife and my two kids. They're absolutely comfortable now.

    My place has been a plumbing nightmare. The most recent claim was a pipe in my laundry room that’s underneath the sink. We discovered, at night time, it was leaking. The tech from Rescue Your Air came a few days later the following week and by that time, we were able to stop it with the shutoff valve. The tech ran water and it didn’t leak. He just did some adjustments and tightened the fitting on that rubber crappy pipe that they use nowadays. Then we had a toilet flush handle that was broken and he replaced it. As I look at it now, it’s pure white, where my toilet is more off-white. I’m not freaking out about it because the toilet flushes and it’s fixed. But in hindsight, it wasn’t the right color.

    We've had Rescue Your Air come out for HVAC repairs several times and they’ve been pretty good in that regard. The plumbing is new and they have one person they're sending out, but I'm not real crazy about them. It was the same guy that came out the last time. But he did do what needed to be done. So that was okay. When we had a leak in the wall behind our washing machine one other prior time, he came out and one was leaking. My husband was standing right behind him and asked, “What about this leak here a little bit further?” It was like a pinhole leak in the pipe in two spots. So he fixed it. Right after he left that night, it started to leak again. It was a pinhole leak. My husband figured out a way to shut off water so we wouldn’t drown the laundry room over that night and then, the tech came the very next morning and fixed the hole.

    For my most recent plumbing claim, Rescue Your Air didn't come out right away. I have called and had people sent out right away when we had a pipe in the wall that was running and we couldn’t do anything with it, was gonna destroy the home. There was another vendor that lived in Jonesboro that came to fix things and they were able to come out at 9:00 at night and fix the issue. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my experience. Some vendors, I like better than others.

    Being able to submit the claim online is good because sometimes, some of the reps are better than others to understand. I speak a couple foreign languages, so I’m not trying to be picky. When I filed a claim online for the leak in the laundry room, I forgot to add the toilet handle. But there was no way to go back in and revise the claim and add in the other item. So I had to call and sit on hold forever to get a customer service person to add that on. So they could improve their website by adding the ability to adjust the claim and also being able to send emails or some kind of other method other than hanging on hold forever, which would be good to be able to send an electronic message to customer service.

    High Priority Plumbing and Services came out to fix my hot water heater. The tech was top-of-the-line, very professional, and knowledgeable. He told me right away what was wrong. I thought I needed a new hot water heater, but I did not. So, he drained it and put a new heating element on it. Now, whoever will take a shower will get a hot shower. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was very easy. It would seem like I've been a customer forever because they have fixed everything in my house -- my dishwasher, garbage disposal, hot water heater, both of my toilets, and dryer.

    When I was having a problem with my washing machine, SG came out this past Saturday to take a look at it. It turned out that there were several things wrong with it. The tech put in all the parts that would need to be repaired. Some of them were the motor, control panel, rotor, and two other things. He sent it into AHS because they had to decide on whether they'd repair something or whether they'd replace it. Now, I’m waiting to hear what decision AHS makes.

    A lot of times, I submit tickets online. If I need to, I’d call it in, but I’ve been able to do it online easy. It's all simple. The contractors have been good too. In general, we’ve had a couple of plumbing issues then we had this air conditioning issue that came up then. We found out that the thermostat that we have in the house here wasn’t right. It wasn’t sending any signal out to the compressor unit and Vail Heating & Cooling came out for that.

    I called American Home Shield for my air conditioner to be fixed. The guy for the AC came out, and he said, “Oh, this is not the unit. Somehow, your electrical box is not turning on the AC. So, you’re gonna need an electrician, not me.” So, then American Home Shield sent out the electrician. I was getting off work and when I met him at my house, he had already been at the box. I went over to the box, and he said, “Oh, somehow this is not connecting. It’s not making a good contact.” When I asked what I needed to do, he said he was gonna move it to another spot. He unplugged it, moved it to a different location that was inside of the box, plugged it in, and it came on. But I had got a letter from American Home Shield saying that one of the cogs was broken, and that they didn’t cover that.

    American Home Shield left a voicemail, and I called them and I said, “Well, I don’t know what you’re talking about ‘cause he just moved it to another spot. He never said anything to me about that I had to call in and get authorization or anything.” The rep I spoke to said the tech called them and I said, “Well, he must’ve called you when he left because he didn’t call with me standing there. He just moved it to another spot, and that was it.” She said, “Oh, well, it’s working?” I told her everything’s fine. The air is on. She said, “Oh, well, then don’t worry about it. I thought that it wasn’t fixed and that you had to do something else.”

    The guy that came out was really nice. I was surprised that it went so well and so quick. The only problem that I had is I had asked for a call when they were on their way because I only live maybe 15 minutes away from my job. I wanted them to let me know they were on their way because then I could meet them there. My daughter was home, and she called me and said the guy was in our home. I said, “Well, I don’t want them.” I don’t like for people to be on the property before I get there. Other than that, the guy didn’t give me any hassle. He didn’t seem like too distraught over the situation. American Home Shield is pretty good. I don’t like how long it takes to get appointments sometimes, but it works. I’m a single homeowner, so for me, the cost of repairs can sometimes be very large. For that purpose, they’re good.

    The AC was not cooling the upstairs. I submitted a claim online with AHS and it was relatively painless. Then, Cote's Mechanical came out on the same day and fixed it. But the AC stopped working after three days and I gave American Home Shield a call so I wouldn’t have to pay the service fee again since it stopped working so soon after we had paid for its repair the first time.

    The same contractor came out the next day and they were great. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that when I called, they weren’t able to come out the same day since the air conditioner stopped working a few days after they had come out the first time, and it was one of the hottest days of the year. But I understood that they had a day of appointments already booked. And the guy who came out was professional and really nice. He wore a mask along with all the COVID stuff, so I was really appreciative of that. And so far, everything has been working well since the repair. All in all, AHS did great and I would recommend them. They’ve handled things really well. I've only had to use them for this one experience, but it was easy and I was really glad not to have to worry about what that could have cost me with the air conditioner breaking down in the beginning of the Texas heat.

    We have AHS in Florida, but we were so happy with the results when we needed it that we also signed up with them in Pennsylvania where our regular home was. Our toilet was constantly running and the water was not shutting off. We were afraid it was gonna up the water bill at the condo. The gentleman came and took care of the problem. He knew exactly what it needed, went out to his truck, and next thing, it was fixed and running perfectly. I don't think it took more than 20 minutes, which was quick. He was excellent and did a super job. Moreover, submitting the claim was no problem at all. I called, and AHS set it up for the service to come. We've also used them before for other things and we have been very satisfied with how the contract works.

    I tell everybody that having a warranty is very important. My brother and mother have AHS and I've had the same warranty provider for 2 or 3 years now. I’m pretty satisfied with them. Our recent claim went well. I put in the order late on a Friday and the company called me Monday morning to confirm an appointment. The guy was knowledgeable and he knew exactly what he was doing. He showed up on time and left 30 minutes to an hour after he showed up with the problem solved. The washer had a switch that recognized when the lid is closed. That switch had gone bad. I had to temporarily fix it, but he came out, put in a new switch, and told me the issues with the washer that I might see in the future. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and skilled. I’ve had other things go on the house and submitting a claim with AHS is always easy. Just do it online and you don’t have to talk to anybody. Then someone comes up to fix the issue.

    Our ice maker was broken. We submitted a claim and Appliance Wizard, one of American Home Shield's contractors, came. The tech was great but he couldn't do anything. Appliance Wizard had to order a part that they were gonna try to get. That's the third guy who has been out for us. While he was very nice, it's frustrating. In the couple of years we've had AHS, they've usually been very responsive. Still, we'd like to get the part needed out and get our problem fixed.

    There was a big noise on the compressor part of the AC. The tech from Anthem Mechanical said that the compressor was starting to go out and it could go out like tomorrow or it could go out in a year. So, he checked it and said, “Everything is good there.” And then inside, that was where the filter was at, and it was like sucking more than it used to. He also said that everything sounded good right here. He peeked his head up on to the top and looked, and said, “No. There's no noise up there. Everything looks good.”

    He was a nice and polite gentleman, and he told me everything I needed to do. He also told me about the company and about American Home Shield because I wasn’t too sure how you the warranty company worked. He said that AHS is very good, too. There is a noise that is still in the back where our window is at for our bedroom, but he said, “It’s still going good.” Until it goes out, they cannot do more than that. But, everything else was perfect. I have also talked to my wife and we decided that we are going to keep AHS.

    We’ve been in this house for two years and we’ve had American Home Shield since we moved here. Prior to that, we lived in North Carolina for five years and we had them there for four years. I handle the claims online so it's super easy. Years ago, it was always having to wait on the phone so the online stuff works well. We haven't had any issues with them. We had a plug issue and when I put the claim in to American Home Shield, they got back to us the same day. The company called us the next day to reschedule and they were able to come out right away. The gentleman fixed everything, and it was quick and easy.

    We’ve had other claims and they were smooth. But we had an incident about a year ago when the service was not quick. It took two days. The shutoff valve on our toilet broke and the toilet was leaking down to our living room. We had to shut off the main water in our house and that was very aggravating. But that was probably the only thing that we had trouble with AHS.

    Submitting a claim to AHS has been very easy. If we do it early in the week, we normally get seen that week. But if it’s only something that happens on like Friday or Saturday, then it’s normally five days after that. They are very easy to engage with. The contractors have all been really professional as well. We submitted a claim for our dishwasher door that came off. It was leaking. The first contractor came out, recommended that the whole unit be replaced. American Home Shield said that was due to us being too rough with the machine that the door came loose, but they would send out somebody else to look at it. The person that came out the second time was able to fix the door. So, it was good and they were helpful. Recently, we had a stoppage in one of our sinks. The contractors made a fix when they came out.

    I'm familiar with Home Shield, but when I first had them, my house was new. I became disabled and I just couldn’t afford it, so I came back. I called because the AC was making up a noise. A-US Air Conditioning came out, then tech said the unit was low on freon. He just put some freon in it and that was it. I didn’t like that I had to pay for the freon. Home Shield just paid $10 a pound, which is what he said, and I didn’t know that. I didn’t know that I had to pay out-of-pocket. What's the use of having Home Shield?

    When he went up in the attic and looked at the unit, he said that it was about time for a upgrade. He was real thorough in talking about the upgrade and he was fine. He said he was going to come back and put some Stop Leak in it because last year, I put Freon in there twice and there was something that was definitely going on and I hoped it won't go out on me. The unit is 20 years old. American Home Shield just needs to communicate more about what's what. When I called in to do the report, I should have been told that, “You know, you're gonna have to pay for blah, blah, blah.” But other than that, I would recommend them.

    I was having electrical issues and I thought it was on PG&E's end, so I called PG&E out because half of my house had shut off. I'm a contractor myself so I knew something was up in the panel or on PG&E's side. I was able to get PG&E out there on a Sunday and they checked. The guy said it was my main breaker. He advised that the safest way to do that is to pull the meter, buy the new this and that and I was already looking for parts. I was going to take a day off and do it the next day, but when they were done, I thought to check if my Home Shield covered it. I know they cover electrical but it just said electrical. Making an order is hard too. Calling them on a Sunday, I couldn't get ahold of anybody. Doing it online, it's very vague on what they cover.

    I remember it said that once I booked the appointment, then they would come out and there's a service charge. That's the main thing that was hard to understand. I didn't want to put a claim in then get charged $100 if I didn't need the service. I was leery but I put the claim in and then when they recommended North Coast Group, I called their office and made sure. I told the gal what was wrong. If it was not covered under insurance, then I didn't need them to come out and tell me what PG&E already told me. She said that as long as we didn't do anything, like going in there and tearing things up, it should be covered. North Coast came out that day and it took the guy 20 minutes and he was gone. It was quick and very professional. It worked out great.

    Being able to have them come out and get it resolved fast made me very happy. With the family having to be home during this pandemic, it was nice to be able to get everything back up and running. What was happening was that that breaker was bad so it was arcing inside the panel which could have caused an electrical fire. It could have fried all of my electrical inside the house (my TVs and my AC and all that stuff) and I would have had a bigger claim. Also, the first time I used American Home Shield was when I joined. The month I had to wait came up and that next week, my microwave went out. I used it right away and I was happy with that as well.

    Home Shield is a good company. It has helped us with a lot of issues like plumbing and appliances and they provide better service than some of the others out there. Recently, our door would not go back down. I filed a claim online and it was very easy. The contractors were really quick. They said they'd be out the next day. The tech came and he did really well. The door was working great after the repair and we could get in the house that way. It's starting to have problems again but it's a pretty old system.

    The guy from A-US Air Conditioning came out and He gave the unit a very nicely detailed look. I was quite happy. He told me what my options were and in the end, we added some refrigerant, which was something that I requested even though it wasn’t fully covered by Home Shield. The prior guy I had come out told me I needed a new unit, but he was lying. He wanted to sell me a new unit when I just needed a small recharge and that was optional too. It had nothing to do with Home Shield though. Also, everything about the A-US guy was on the up-and-up and my experience was excellent. I even signed on for the next year right after that.

    I've had Home Shield on and off for 15 years on a number of different houses and I will continue. I can make one phone call and get somebody to come in for a fixed price and take a look at my unit. The other thing I like, especially for major appliances, is that the Home Shield person is almost never trying to pretend I need a whole brand new unit. Because Home Shield itself doesn’t really enjoy it if every time they stop at a home, they do a $10,000 item. So, it worked out well for me.

    We were very happy with 2 Morrows Heating and Cooling. They called and said they’d get there a little bit earlier, showed up, and they handled everything great and they split. My wife and I were both very impressed and we thought they did a good job. We would definitely use them again. We’ve been satisfied with American Home Shield ever since we’ve had it. The first time we used them, they went with a company out of Illinois and we never heard from them. When I called, I got the voicemail from them saying they were out of business. So I called AHS and asked for a local company to come out. Other than that, American Home Shield has been a great thing. It has saved us money and we’ve had good service.     I’ve had Home Shield in the past, so I was pleased with the service. One of the burners went up on my stove, my microwave needed a sensor because it wouldn’t go past 30 seconds, and my ice machine wasn’t working. Richard’s Appliance was pretty good with the text message. And then somebody called and asked if I was available when they did the appointment, and that was it. The tech came and they ordered the part, and then he helped me order a filter for the refrigerator because I had to order off a lot, and then he put all the parts in. He was done right then.     There was an issue with the heating element in my dryer. My dryer wasn't doing any heat and it broke down on Friday and the tech was here on Monday. He was very professional. He showed me his ID, came in and took apart the dryer. It took him a couple of minutes. He said the heating element was toasted and he had to order one. He said it was about a week before it would come in. The part came in when he said it would. It was fantastic. I don't have a lot of income and things never break down when you have money. Having the warranty, I don't have to worry and I don't have to wait two weeks until I get a paycheck. I like the convenience.

    We called American Home Shield and reported what was broken and then the plumbing company called me. When the contractors first came out, one person smelled like alcohol. They were very rude and they didn’t complete the job. They came back out several times and then they told me that they did the best they can do with it and that AHS is not paying them to come back out. The man was very upset. We have a leak coming from that faucet in my kitchen and I just left it alone. The man put a little caulking around there to fix the leak the second time he came back. One of the plumbers stated that they want to keep coming back out putting the cheap pieces on. AHS then sent another plumbing company to fix the toilet and the technician stopped the toilet from running. Also, the technicians who came out to put my hot water tank in were very professional and did a great job.

    My air conditioner had a one-time issue where at nighttime, we had the air on that when I turned it off, it would go to a heating upcycle because it wants to just regulate the temperature that’s up in the AC unit. It never shut off. The heating element stayed on and it kept blowing hot air into the house. The house got to 86 degrees until I went up there and pulled the fuse. And then I submitted in a ticket to Home Shield and R & K Heating & Cooling came out within two days. The guy came out, troubleshot everything that he could, and looked at everything but said “Everything's working fine, sir, I can't duplicate the issue." And then he said, "Here's what we'll do. I'll leave this ticket open for like a week or two. And if it acts up again, you don't have to do anything. Just call. I'll come right back out. But don't touch it. Just leave it be so I can find out what it's doing." And I said, "Okay, no problem." And the AC has been working great ever since.

    We've owned this house for about nine years now, and when things happen, it's always at the worst possible time where it could be like, "I cannot really be affording to pay for a new refrigerator right now." Whereas with Home Shield, I pay $100 and they send out a technician. And if he couldn't fix it, then they would replace it. I would gladly pay $50 a month with a $100 call out fee any day.

    My claim with American Home Shield where Rapp’s came out went fine. It was quick and simple, which is about as much as I could ask for. This was not the first time Rapp’s had been out. Luckily, I had the same guy again, so I was very pleased within the first time as well as the second.     Everything was fine with my food disposal claim. I submitted the claim and it was pretty simple to do. Then the technician was in and out of here in about an hour. It was perfect. He did a good job. The service call itself was 100. But the food disposal that they brought out was plastic and it was under what the value of my old one was. The technician said that it was comparable to what he was taking out. My old food disposal was about around $150 and the tech said that the replacement one was about 90 bucks. It has a five-year warranty on it. But he had another one that was all metal that would have had a 10-year warranty and he said it wasn’t terribly more expensive for it. It would have been nice to have that option from American Home Shield to get that one that had a longer warranty, more industrial and would last longer.

    Anytime I call Home Shield, I’m satisfied. It was excellent. I was given the name of the company, a number, and when I can expect them, or they would call me. All that took place. All Hours Emergency Plumbing came out and they replaced the garbage disposal. The tech was awesome. He came and did his job, and was professional. Before, the garbage disposal wouldn’t operate. And then, over time, the smell in the garbage disposal itself improved immensely. I’m able to use it and it doesn't have a smell anymore. I also used Home Shield for my pool and the hot water heater, and I’ve just been satisfied. And any time I call, they are right on time. I’ve been with them for a few years, so everyone I come in contact with, I tell them they need to look into it. You need to sign up for it.

    I just want to say that American Home Shield has been the worst experience thus far. I don't quite understand why as a consumer that pays a premium each month has to has to go through so much hassle. We recently called in to report a request and I was placed on hold for over an hour and a half just to speak to someone. Then I had to put in a request to have the microwave replaced as the service person said it was unrepairable (more work for me, the consumer). Had to be on hold for another hour. Then we received our replacement microwave and the installers didn't even screw the screw all the way in. Its more than 1/2 way sticking out.

    I wish I could include a picture on here. So here I am again waiting on the hone for another hour and who knows how long to speak to someone about that. I hope we didn't sign a contract because I truly want to cancel my business with American Home Shield and try another company such as Choice Home Warranty. Go to Facebook, you will see all the real reviews on there about how dissatisfied customers are. I wish I had known to check there prior to signing up. The reviews on here are very misleading.

    The thermostat on the oven seemed to have been shorted out and it also caused some flash underneath the glass top of the stove and it cracked. Originally, my experience was kinda weird because American Home Shield sent this company and the guy didn’t speak any English. He just took pictures and left. Then he said it was not due to normal use. But my girls and I were here. I had a pot of chili on the stove on super low then all of a sudden we heard this ‘pop’ and saw a flash. It was no big deal. I’m 51 years old and my family owns three restaurants. I'm pretty sure I know how to take care of things. So I called American Home Shield back. They sent out A Plus Appliance and Matt could not be more thorough.

    He said it was because of the whole short. So the experience was great. Everything is working wonderfully now. During this pandemic, I need to cook. I can’t keep ordering take out because I’m broke. I’m on unpaid leave so I don’t have a bunch of cash lying around. But at one time, American Home Shield also sent out a Russian company to look at my dryer. The guy came out here, took it all apart and said he could repair it but it was not repaired. It still shuts off after 10 minutes. This is crazy. It’s just a dryer. So I would prefer to have A Plus back here. They speak English and actually do stuff.

    My kitchen faucet exploded, it was very old and made of plastic. I called AHS for repair/installation of new one purchased. AHS could not find a person here in town to come and fix problem. They charged me $100 for the call even though they couldn't provide for the service. AHS did call and give me an authorized number to pay for another company to come out and install new faucet. The guy from the other company was two hours away from my home. He didn't do a very good job on the installation, as I found out a few days later!

    I purchased a very nice faucet for over $150.00. I was charged $120 by the other company. Now my faucet is cross-wired with hot and water cold and doesn't turn easily. I emailed the invoice for the installation to AHS on April 21, 2020 and have NOT heard about the status of my refund. I tried to call AHS today, I was on hold for nearly an hour before I hung up. Yes, I am very dissatisfied with AHS at this point! Any assistance with this matter will be appreciated.

    American Home Shield's claim process was super easy. I went online and it was straightforward. I put the claim in the evening and then I got a call the very next morning for a schedule. The Controlled Comfort repairman came right when he said he would -- it was scheduled for like a few days after I made the request. He looked at the unit and told me my options.

    He said, “It looks like there’s a leak. We can try to patch up the leak.” He told me straight up what it was going to cost. He told me about all the labors included here, and that only $15 or something was going to be used towards the actual coolant or refrigerant. He also quoted me if we wanted to do a whole replacement, to which I said that we would just do the patch and refill. The cost came out to be a little bit less than what he had quoted me on. He wore booties inside the house the whole time. He wore a mask as well given the COVID situation. He was very professional. The repair has been good, and the AC works fine.

    We had an issue with the dishwasher that was clogging up. And then the refrigerator, mainly the freezer, was not freezing and making ice. American Home Shield had Majestic Appliance Service come out. I got an email that same afternoon or the next morning that somebody had been assigned. I was called the next day and a visit was scheduled. They were good.

    I’ve had work done last year and there was another appliance repair company sent to us. But I personally found Majestic Appliance Service easier to work with. They are more flexible and they did not give me a four-hour window, which sometimes it’s unrealistic when you’re working. The tech came back a couple of times because he had to order a part. The unit still wasn’t working so he came back again. We were very happy with that.

    American Home Shield's website is fine. Everything like that is fine. But sometimes you have a question. And when you're trying to call the warranty company, it is nearly impossible to get a human being on the phone. That has been a little disappointing. The prices went up too and I was unhappy with that as well. But I guess everything goes up.

    I got something in the mail from American Home Shield and I called and talked to the representative on the phone. I got the pricing, and it was a reasonable amount of money every month to give myself some peace of mind. You never know what is happening tomorrow and I have bad luck. I’ve only had one or two issues with them, but they’ve been there for me and things have worked out good.

    One time, our dishwasher wouldn’t start and when my husband looked under the cabinet, the plug, in the wall plate, was melted and burnt. I called American Home Shield and they did all of their part. We called twice though. It seems the first time was computer-generated and the company didn’t respond, so then I called back and told them they never responded. I had to cancel the first company, and they replaced it with another company that came, and that was a human. It was Applifix and they fixed the dishwasher. All in all, American Home Shield is great. They’ve done very well for me.

    They had Max Air out here first for the AC issue. They were out here three times. They wanted to charge me $800. They told me I had a blockage in my line. But I didn't believe that because the unit was working too good. So I told AHS to send somebody else. They sent Greenway because they sent them out to my house to do a plumbing job, and the man knew exactly what to go and do. He took care of that problem. Now, my unit is freezing up. I would highly recommend Greenway to anybody with the home warranty. Max Air put the wrong fan motor and capacitor on my unit, and I did not have a blockage as I thought. So I told AHS to not ever send Max Air out here again.

    When I call AHS to submit a claim, they're on top of it. And with the same problem, they haven’t charged me multiple charges. I appreciate that a lot with everything that’s going on in the world today. They're doing a great job. The only downfall to it that it is right now is hanging and having to wait online, on the phone call, and getting through to them. They could try to improve that. I’ve waited as much as an hour. I didn’t wanna call back and lose my spot. I just put the phone on speakerphone and went on about my business.

    We've used American Home Shield a few times. Unfortunately, the house got some issues here and there, and they take good care of it each time. Recently, there was a leak in the upstairs bathtub. There was also a leak downstairs across from the basement. Pipe Solutions came out. The guy took care of it, figured it out, and it was done in a reasonable amount of time. He wasn't messing around. he was pretty efficient and quick.

    With some of the repairs in the past, there's a couple of them where the guys don't do certain things when calling the plumber, and we don't understand why or why not. Then it throws the home warranty people for a loop that is trying to schedule things, and they don't understand who or what type of repair person to call. We had somebody come out and they wouldn't clear a clogged drain. They were only there to fix faucets. It seems to be that when calling the plumber, they should handle anything that water flows through and they don't. That's something that needs to be improved.

    Mason's Plumbing did a very good job. The plumber who came out was very thorough and he took care of the leak. He also explained what all happened to us. I wore a mask and I kept social distancing with him when he was working in the house, and I was very pleased with them. We still have another company coming out tomorrow because there was some drywall damaged from the leak. Submitting the claim process was fine. It, however, seemed like it took a little bit of time to get responses back once we submitted it -- it took about two and a half to three weeks to get a response.

    Our air conditioning stopped producing cold air. After opening a service request with American Home Shield, Hansen Mechanical came out and they were super professional. I explained the problem to them. They pretty much knew right away that it was probably a Freon leak. The guy definitely knew exactly what he was talking about and he explained everything in a way that I understood it. They went out and checked our Freon. They found that we were low on it so they recommended doing like a seal then giving us more Freon. We went with that. Once they did that, my AC was up and running within an hour and it has been working great ever since.

    I had difficulty when I placed the order. I had to speak to the voicemail and I told that I had a problem with the dishwashing garbage disposable unit, but the computer picked up only the dishwasher. The dishwasher company called me and he said he would be coming to see where was the leak from. He came to my house and looked for the dishwasher. I said that I didn’t have it and that I left a message saying it was a dishwashing garbage disposable unit. He said he would not work on that because he was specialized only in dishwashing and he left. I had to call AHS the second time and they dispatched A&B Plumbing & Home Services. They handled the claim well. They came on time and performed the work. The tech was a good person as well.

    The only thing was when he was leaving, he gave my son the bill. I was not at home. I know that I’m not supposed to pay for anything. He did not ask any. But I don’t know what is this bill. I’m not responsible because AHS had debited $100 from my account. I don’t want any more money deducted from there. I might have to talk to the AHS customer service about it.

    Submitting claims has been pretty easy once you get through. However, since the COVID virus has hit, making a claim has been more difficult because sometimes, the wait times are up to 50 minutes. I’ve tried to go in and do a home internet, but Home Shield's website asks for a mobile phone, which I don’t have. And then, it won’t let me proceed past that screen. So, I always have to call. I have told a couple of agents that that’s my situation, and we have not been able to resolve that. If they could change that thing on their internet, I would appreciate it, so I don’t have that long wait time on the telephone right now. But things will get back to more decent later on.

    The AC froze up during the night over the weekend when the humidity and the temperature got up, and it was waking us up at 2:30 in the morning because it was rattling the whole inside unit. Since we have been using Home Shield since 2008, we do a lot of business with A2Z. I have them come twice a year and just check for maintenance anyway. Sometimes, it’s hard to get the contractor in that you’re familiar with. But other than that, the contractors have been good and professional.

    It's fairly easy to submit claims. I don't ever call and I just do the online one, and it has been easy to use. The only complaint I have is just the fact that before the virus, it took up to two weeks to get somebody out. And when you don't have an AC or a hot water heater or something like that, that's a long time to go. They have make sure that it doesn't take two weeks to get somebody out again. But other than that, I like knowing that if something goes wrong, it's going to cost me $75 to fix. So, if I ever have to worry about my AC or anything like that, it's a $75 charge and I'm safe.

    When we first bought the house, the refrigerator that I had with it was one of those little bitty ones - the $300 or $400 range you can get at Home Depot. We had a problem where it kept freezing our food. You had to put it on the highest setting or else, it would spoil your food. But on the highest setting, the back of the fridge froze our food and the front of the fridge kept it at the right temperature. But this was a little bitty fridge. I have a few inches of space on each of the shelves. We called Home Shield out two different times on it. They even had a supervisor come out and they told us that they were not going to replace it or fix it because that's how the refrigerator was designed. It was freezing all of our food or not keeping it cold enough. It didn’t made it where it didn’t freeze in the back.

    This recent claim was better than other ones that I've had to do. There is usually a two-week waiting list to get somebody to come out, so that was never good. But this time around, the contractor was out the day after. Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating came out and got the AC to work again. Apparently, the coils became dirty again. We just had them cleaned six months ago, but we have a lot of dust and stuff in our house and I didn't think it would have to be done that often. The tech came in and just cleaned the coils out real good, and inspected the rest of it. We had them come out a week or two before that because the AC broke. The compressor was bad. Also, we've had the contractor before. The tech was very nice and polite. Also, he had a mask and made sure to stay a distance from us.

    The previous homeowners got American Shield for us and we were really pleased, so we renewed. They have been fabulous. Any time I need service, they get right back to me with the person who’s going to do it and they turn out to be really good. My only problem is it always involves extra money. Like with a water heater repair, they said I had to put another $1,200 of my own money. And then, one time with the furnace, I had to put in a ton of money and again, with the air conditioning problem, I had to put in $1,800.

    They always swear that it's stuff that’s absolutely necessary to do. That happens every single time I have one of their people come out. Some of them say it's code and some of them, like this last one, say that these things would blow again unless I had this piece where they had to take everything apart, put the piece on, and put it back together. But that's the only thing that’s troublesome. The people are competent and they're really careful when they work. They show up when they're supposed to and everything gets done beautifully and quickly. This last one was Pacific Control Service coming out for a heating issue. They checked the unit out and told me what the problem was. They had to order all kinds of parts and it took three visits, but they got the job done.

    I first had a company called Drain Go come out. They spent 10 minutes up there and then said they couldn't fix it and that I gotta get a new toilet. Then Greenway came out and the guy was real professional. Joe tried to snake the toilet and he ran into some challenges. He couldn't snake the toilet to get it to flush but he said he was gonna do everything he can to get this thing fixed. He stayed up there and it was an object somewhere in the toilet and he got it out of there. The toilet has been working fine ever since. I called and spoke to a manager over there and told them how Joe was. He was awesome. But I would never call Drain Go. I was not impressed. They also tried to encourage me to leave American Home Shield and go to another warranty company.

    Initially, American Home Shield tried to charge me another $100 for a second opinion. I told them that the guys from Drain Go were telling me I needed to buy a whole new toilet but I'm paying for a home warranty company for these issues. It's not like I'm always calling in claims. When I called in, I spoke to an agent who really couldn't help me until I asked to be escalated to a manager. I escalated to a manager and he went ahead and he said that I was right and I would get approved to go ahead and send a second company out for a second opinion. It was perfect. The manager did a great job.

    When submitting claims, all I do is call the number and tell AHS what the problem is with what appliance. They get right on it and they call me back or the person they contacted and say that they'll be here between 9:00 and 12:00. Then they were here by 11:30 the same day. It was fantastic. Last year, the air condition wasn’t working. The guy came out and he had to put in fuses first. He fixed it and it started cooling right away.

    Then recently, two young guys from Billy’s A/C Service came and they were very nice. They went right to check everything because my unit on my air condition was running but the outside part wasn’t working. It was like there was no communication between the thermostat and outside. They stayed outside working on it. Then they found the problem. It was the relay motor inside the unit that was burned up. They replaced it and it took them all of about 45 minutes. They were very nice and professional. I haven't had any more problems, but it’s nice to know that when I do, I can just call AHS.

    We had National Platinum Service come out four times to fix our dishwasher then they finally said that they couldn't fix it. But we had a KitchenAid and the option that AHS gave us was a GE. KitchenAid is a lot better than GE. I was gonna call AHS today and ask if we could get a KitchenAid. But I don’t wanna be on hold for an hour and a half to talk to their people. I've considered the buyout option but it is not working. But I’ve got to go buy my own KitchenAid that’s worth paying 300 extra instead of an hour and a half every day on hold.

    The contractors sent out by American Home Shield showed up on time. They’ve been good and very polite. It was the customer service from American Home Shield that I had the problem with. When you call, you talk to three different people and they take the same information three times. I told them that I didn't wanna wait in those 30 minutes and they said that they'd get me right in. Then 30-something minutes later, I was still waiting. It was getting to the point where I'd be ready to drop AHS and go to somebody else.

    The American Home Shield warranty was existing on the house when we purchased it. We just kept it for the first year and used it several times that year. We were really happy with it so we just kept the coverage. Our heat pump was broken. It was hot and the repair needed to happen. Platinum Heating & Air's tech replaced the two fuses and it was still not cooling so he added a pound of Freon to the unit and they fixed it. We paid our portion of it and some of it was covered by American Home Shield.

    I submitted the claim through the AHS website. It’s a lot easier. It used to be a pain to submit a claim several years ago. I've always been given a couple of days to expect contractors. Platinum Heating & Air was great. They called within a reasonable amount of time and were very friendly and polite when I called them. We’ve always been really satisfied with the coverage and we really have been happy with the service of AHS.

    There was a drip leg on the furnace and it was clogged where the discharge was. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield and they were prompt. Within 24 to 48 hours, somebody calls you to give you a service person and they respond to set up a schedule for when they come out. It’s quick and dependable.     I’m really pleased with A Plus. They’re really good compared to previous vendors that I’ve used through AHS. The technician was very cordial, professional, and knowledgeable about what he was doing. He kept me abreast of pretty much everything that he was doing and what was going on. As fast as the other vendor came in was as fast as I wanted him to leave. He was very disrespectful and unprofessional by total means. My daughter, who was a people person, was the one that was here when he came. The guy looked like he was overworked or overwhelmed with what was going on. He was blunt and outright rude. She told him that he could just leave. She said she didn't I didn't appreciate his attitude and professionalism. I contacted AHS about it and that was why they reached out to A Plus, another vendor in our area.

    AHS needs a better vendor screening thing, especially if they get a lot of comments on the vendors that they send out. They should take a closer look at the customer relationships or comments that they get. Their scheduling is good though and I like that. I’m an over the phone person and I like talking to people. At least I know that it’s done. They have overseas customer service reps and sometimes, that gets a little confusing. But we’re able to work through it and it’s understandable.

    Our community has a website that everybody goes onto. Someone asked, “I have a microwave that’s out, who would you recommend?” I said, “I’m with American Home Shield. This is what I pay a month. This is the deductible if anything happens.” She said that she has never heard of them before. I said that I was glad to let her know about them because they have been a lifesaver for me. I definitely can’t turn around and buy a new refrigerator.

    When the tech came out, the power had gone out in the neighborhood. I’ve had people say, “I’m not gonna be able to do it,” and just walk out. But instead of saying, “The power is out and I can’t do anything,” he was a champ. He worked on the dishwasher and put a new motor in. The problem is that it’s leaking and the water was settling at the bottom of the dishwasher. It wasn’t draining completely. Then he fixed the refrigerator, which was dripping too. He did all this with no power. I'd recommend him to anybody. But I'm gonna call back for the dishwasher and see if the issue can be addressed. It’s only been about two weeks and you can call back within 90 or 60 days and AHS won’t charge you for another service call. They just send the contractor back out to address the issue.

    My AHS coverage has been great. When my air conditioner went out, they replaced it, which was awesome. When my washing machine went out, they also gave me a new washing machine. Every time I’ve had a problem, they fixed it. The only bummer is that they raised their service call from 25 bucks to 75. Also, since I've been using the online thing instead of calling call up, it has been way better. Before, when I used the phone service, it was a nightmare. They never answered and you could be on there for an hour. Now, that I just completely ignore that and go to AHS.com. The difference is night and day. Online, you just go on, plug in what you want to be fixed and what the problem is. Somebody then calls you back in an hour or two. It works much better.

    A&E from Sears was fantastic, professional, knowledgeable and they had what they needed. They would get approval on the spot, set up the next appointment and order the stuff. They were very different than some of the other appliance people we’ve had over the past years. So, I would request them first and get them out for any appliance issue with any of our properties. I also told my sister-in-law who also have American Home Shield to request them each and every time because they were perfect.

    The other great thing about A&E from Sears is that when you call American Home Shield, they could set up that appointment for you and you have it straight away. You tell them what your issue is and AHS would say that they would be out at this day and time. You get an email confirmation of what they did, when they’re coming out and before they come. They should be the number one company for American Home Shield to use and the first one they send out. If AHS gives you another company, that company will contact you within one to two days. Then, if they don’t have a spot, in the next week, you can call back and then we can start all over, and then that new company will call you one to two days, set up an appointment and see when they can get you a schedule.

    Freon has been discontinued by the US government. They're not allowing it to be made anymore. But we had some leaks and A-US Air Conditioning came out and gave us an outrageous price for getting the AC fixed. It was $700 to $800. I pay a monthly price for American Home Shield to fix things when things break. They need to pay for it and not expect me to pay $700 or $800. So, we didn't move forward with any of it. I usually submit claims by phone and it's a little bit complicated and time-consuming. But for the most part, their reps and contractors have been good.

    It's pretty easy to submit a claim. One of my AC units was not cooling and after I called American Home Shield, someone from Starlight HVAC came out fairly quickly. It was within three or four days, and the tech was good and very knowledgeable. I've been with American Home Shield for two years and I've had some good experiences and some pretty bad experiences.

    We bought this house two years ago and put in all new appliances. When we did a certain function with the microwave, it tripped the breakers ‘cause they were on a single circuit.     Our water heater had a leak. It had leaked all over our garage coming into the house. Springdale Plumbing came out and they're my absolute favorite.     The sewer line had clogged. We just moved in the house about three weeks ago. We were just four days into our warranty when it happened. I'm impressed with American Home Shield. I like it. My wife did a claim over the phone and they sent Mr. Rooter the afternoon the next day. They were quick. The tech ran a snake in, and it took him about every bit of five minutes to get it cleaned. I had some construction debris where the people had worked on my house. I had to run a 80-foot snake two ways the day prior to it. But when the tech came, he managed to walked it out, and he found a cleanout that I did not see. Where it breaks off from behind the house, it shoots over to the main system to the city. When he run it in there, he get two really bad spots, and it knocked it right loose. We haven't had a lot of trouble since. It was really good experience.

    My air conditioning unit wasn’t working. This was the first time I put a claim in to American Home Shield and it was terrible. It took me from 10:30 in the morning until 8 at night to get ahold of them. What upset me was they'd put me on hold and I would put my cell phone on speaker so I could do what I needed to do and listen as well and I would be on hold for a good hour or longer and then I would get disconnected, all day long. I understand that they're busy but why don’t they have a recording where you could leave your name and number at least so they could get back to you?

    When they finally answered and they got me an appointment for three days later, the service people that came out were great. The tech gave nothing but the best. He works with a lot of different appliance insurances and he told me that American Home Shield is the best out of all of them. And that encouraged me.     The refrigerator was not cooling. The contractor, Trooper's Appliance Repair, got my email. I got the email, and it was a holiday weekend, so it was probably going to be Tuesday. And then Tuesday, Trooper's called me and said that somebody will be there Thursday. They showed up. Rick, the tech, checked it, reset the computer inside the refrigerator, and then we went ahead and figured it out. After we reset it, he left and said give it from that day to the next day to see if it cooled down after he resetted it.

    The next day, at about 9:00 in the morning, I texted him and told him it still wasn’t cooling, and then he showed up later that afternoon between 12:00 and 2:00. According to him, it was a fuse sensor that he replaced, and it has been working since. He did really good out there and he was really friendly. Trooper's attended to the questions I had and left me a phone number. And if I would have any issues, they would fix it no matter what, just to let them know that I was having any issues, and to give them a call and report if it was still not functioning. Everything is fine right now. It took a day and a half for the refrigerator to start cooling right. The freezer is working great. I’ve had Home Shield for a while. They have always been good about sending people to the house and getting the situation corrected.

    Harkins A/C, Heating & Controls did my claim really fast. They came out on Saturday. The only thing was that there was more gas leak on the AC unit and the guy couldn’t find it. This is the second time we had the same issue. He told me that he applied some microleak sealing and put two pounds of gas on the unit. He also said that AHS would only cover $10 per pound and I had to pay the difference. I paid $50 for each ‘cause the total was 120. Actually, this company was faster than the other AC company last time.

    We did not have any hot water, so Ray Stovall Plumbing came out and they supposedly fixed that issue two weeks ago. The techs were good and they did all right. Now, the water heater is leaking and it is going in the pan. We are afraid that it is going to mess up our ceiling. They are supposed to come out tomorrow between 2:00 and 5:00.     We’ve had a couple things happen and American Home Shield's service has been pretty good. We had an icebox that went out and we didn’t realize it was covered. We also had an oven and a cooktop that went out and we didn’t realize they were even covered under the policy when I read it out and looked at it. So we already had it all fixed. But it wasn’t the company’s fault. We just paid to have them replaced. We had an air conditioner fail three years ago. They put a new air conditioning system in but they don’t pay for the Freon. They pay $10 on the first pound, and Freon is $50, $60 or $80. Some of these guys get 100 bucks a pound for it. The guy took a pen and scratched out where it said the unit held 8 pounds. We were in the air conditioning business for lots of years and the guy tried to tell me he put 28 pounds of Freon in it. It was not a good experience. It was a ripoff.

    When Knockout Pools came out, the tech and I talked and he had a theory when we got here but I had another theory. It ended up being pretty much about what I thought it was and that was good. But he was very easy to work with. He came back and said that I was right. He was great. He had a gasket that he needed to replace. It was letting water bypass it and he was able to fix it while he was here, which I was thrilled.

    We had a blower motor go out and the guy took three weeks to get one. When he came out here, he didn't want us coming out to his truck because we could see the box and when it was shipped. He fooled around and didn’t order it. I finally got him to admit he didn’t order the motor for about two weeks. We have two systems on the house and we didn't have any air conditioning on one side of the house because he didn't order the motor for two weeks. I was unhappy about that. But that was on the tech and not on American Home Shield. He tried to lay it off and the company ordered the motor. But I don't think that was true. But we’ve been overall pretty satisfied with American Home Shield. We've had a plumbing company called F6 out here a couple times the last couple years and their employees are unbelievable. They're prompt and very courteous. They explain everything to you.

    A month ago, a guy from F6 came in and he had his mask and gloves on. When you get people like that, it makes you feel good about using them. He had to really work to get it fixed, but he did it correctly. I told him that we could go through the house but he said that he wanna walk around outside so he doesn't track anything in our house. But at that time, I just wanted to get it fixed. I could have cared less about tracking something in the house, but he was very good about it. We’ve been very happy. When he left here, it was all perfect. He was a very nice, young gentleman. F6 is the best company we’ve ever had out here. We’ve had some good ones, but these guys were so professional and courteous of your property here. They were very respectful of this.

    The AC unit was not working, so I started the claim online. I always get an e-mail saying that I would expert the contractor out within seven business days. Certified Heating and Cooling came out and said that they had to order some capacitor and coolant. Then, they came back out and fixed it. I paid them the extra money that they said I owed, and that was it. They were absolutely great. They were quick and super nice. We haven't had any leaks since the repair.

    American Home Shield is great. I have not had too many issues with them that they haven’t been able to solve. In this house, we've had them for two years already, but we also had this home warranty company in another house before this for about a year, and they have always been good. We have the warranty because we moved quite often, and when we move, it is easier to know that everything is going to be able to be taken care of. We don’t have to worry about the full expense. Overall, I’d definitely recommend AHS.

    My daughter has been with Home Shield for a long time and she recommended them. My washer shook a lot when it's spinning. It shakes out of control. Also, the dryer's lint portion and the part where that piece goes into are broken. And then, sometimes my freezer is frosted up. And then it spread it on the filters. Plus, two of my stove's burners are not working. And then my dishwasher's soap dispenser sometimes opened, sometimes didn't. It didn’t wash the plates as it used to.

    One guy came. He had to be at a distance, so I allowed him to do his work. And then when he told me he found out what was going on with the stuff, I asked him if he was finished and he said yes. The dryer was obvious because it’s broken. The stove was obvious because he turned them on and they’re not working. He ran the washer and he said something like it needed struts and I agreed. And then, he took out the dishrack from the dishwasher, and he bent down with the light and went under there. And then he went to the refrigerator and told me that maybe it wasn’t closing properly and air got inside. Because at the time, I didn’t have any frost.

    Right now, I’m having a problem with a guy who put in my AC last year. I got damage in my house. He was no way professional. He was in no way someone who needs to continue a job and go in and mess up people’s houses and curse them out. I tried to reach out to Consumer a long time ago on that guy. I’m fighting with him with his insurance. I used to have my daughter live here, but she couldn’t live in her room anymore. She had to move out because my house is flooded after several times. He put in an AC last July and it was not cooling down. It overheated. It did not shut off. He came back several times, and then it started to leak.

    Home Shield hires somebody to come into your house, and then you will not know what they do. A few people that I’m fighting with right now are blaming Home Shield. I said, “If I have a damaged parts in my home, if my air condition is damaged, the factory warranty is supposed to come and get it out.” And then, I wasn’t around this recent guy that much. I wasn’t because of the pandemic. I allowed him to do what he had to do. But it was very fast he found out.

    I like that we are able to just call American Home Shield or go online and submit a claim and they get taken care of. I had a claim was for a dryer that was shaking really badly. It wasn’t drying our clothes. I did that one online. It took a week for a contractor to come out. He told me what the problem was and he had everything he needed right there. He also said we needed a new vent, which wasn’t even in the claim, and a new door handle. He took that upon himself to replace those for me. He was awesome. Things have been fine since his repair.

You have to go through so many channels, but if they could go a little faster, go right to the point instead of going through all the other stuff, that would be great. It’s not a big deal though. I still have my home warranty. Another thing is that, everything’s done from overseas nowadays and I barely understood. If there was a complaint issue, that would be it. Other than that, they got the guy and he took care of the problem. He changed the timer on the washing machine and he let it roll through the cycle. He then made sure to operate it and then he left.     The contractor came out for my garage door and they did the job. It was quick and they were very professional. I had a couple of claims with Home Shield before when I first moved in but this garage door claim was the most difficult one because the contractor didn’t come out on a weekend. It took three or four days before they finally got out there. So my car stayed inside the garage all weekend. Sometimes there’s an emergency, like you’re stuck in your garage and you can’t get your car out, and I wish Home Shield would have options. Because I found out later there were companies that were open on Saturdays. But they may not contract with Home Shield so that’s why they weren’t chosen.

    There was a clogged line for the water to move out of the condenser of the AC unit. Home Shield got service out here and working fast. The tech from Carolina Air Heating and Cooling did the repair and it was working after but later on the day, it clogged up again. Instead of calling it out and paying another $107 deductible, I went to Home Depot, grabbed some PVC piping, repiped it myself, and unclogged it. The contractor did a good job. He went in there and did what he was supposed to do. He said he blew nitrogen into the system and then put almost like a new trap in there. The only thing is that it wasn’t totally unclogged.

    Also, one thing I would do if I was American Home Shield is I would make the subcontractor companies have a better warranty, like a 90-day or a 120-day instead of a 60-day. I had something go wrong where water was leaking into my garage. The contractor came out and they fixed it, but then it was 62 days out of the warranty. I called the company and the rep said it had been 60 days. I would suggest a 90-day with the vendors.

    My brother referred American Home Shield to me because he liked them. They’ve done a superb job so far. I had a problem with the stove about a couple months ago and I couldn’t get it unlocked. I was cooking my biscuits and the stove got so hot. I just stopped and it was four months later that I decided that I needed somebody to come out here and check it. The technician did a great job and he was very nice. He explained and answered my questions.     My dryer was not getting hot. It worked, but it was not drying the clothes. I then called American Home Shield on the phone. When they booked the repair, they sent me a text saying who the contractor was going to be. They also said I should hear in 24 hours and I did. Antech Appliances came out and they found out that it was a fuse quickly. They then fixed it, and the dryer has been working perfectly since then.     More Than Plumbing came out to check a leak that was on the outside of the house. He fixed a pipe and then determined that it wasn’t covered under our warranty. Then our dishwasher stopped working. We’re still waiting now. The person who came out said that he needed to order some parts, but they didn't make them anymore. So, American Home Shield was supposed to call us and talk to us about replacing the dishwasher, and we were told this on Thursday, but they haven't gotten in contact with us yet.

    The AC had stopped working and the tech said one of the breakers probably had a problem. He suggested that I get the whole box replaced because it was out of date. But as far as the AC work, he got the problem resolved. So they did a good job. Submitting claims to Home Shield is really easy. You just pay the deductible, tell them what’s wrong, and then they find a local contractor. It doesn't take long to get somebody out here. But Home Shield could have an app. They probably already have an app that can notify you the status, but it could maybe take a picture of the people that’s coming to your house so you know who’s coming and what company they are. Also, since it’s Corona season, they should suggest to all these people to wear proper PPEs because they represent Home Shield not themselves at that point. But overall, they’re excellent so far.

    Recently, we had an electrical outlet that wasn’t working and Preferred Electrical Services came out and found the problem very quickly and solved it in a matter of minutes. We just bought the house in March, but we've had American Home Shield on our other home, and it's always easy to use it. Just call or go online and submit a claim. They're very responsive. They’ve also helped with the air conditioning issues, the big one. The only thing I would like to see is that sprinkler systems might be added as something they could have coverage for.

    I’ve been in this house for 26 years and about 20 years ago, I had a problem with a new oven. It was a GE and I had had it for four months when I tried to turn it on and the thing blew up. A flame came out in there. I called American Home Shield and they not only replaced the oven, but they also paid $4,000 for me to have a brand new GE oven. I thought they were miracle workers. I used it once more for something minor and I thought they handled it well.

    For a recent claim, the tech came out promptly and he had the unit fixed in 35 minutes while he was here. It was working when he left but now, it's a week and a half later and it's not working. I called Home Shield back and the tech is supposed to come. But he said it may be a week before he can get to us to check on it again. This is making me angry with Home Shield. They're letting him get by with this. I was so delighted with them and I recommended them right and left for years. This is the first wrinkle I’ve ever had in my relationship with them and I’ve had their services for about 23 years now.

    We’ve had A-US Air out two separate times. The first time they came out, they sent a technician to diagnose the issue. It was a AC issue, and they suggested that the coil be cleaned. So, like two days later, there's some guys who came out, cleaned out, apparently did not do what they were supposed to. Now, the technician did prescribe a full cleaning like to pull the coil. The guys that showed up just did not do what they were instructed to do. So, the issue was not resolved.

    So, I called them like a month later because I was hoping, “Maybe it’ll clear itself up.” It didn't. I called them back. They sent the technician out again. He got a little bit more in depth with his questioning about the guys that had done the previous work, and he said they apparently did not do what they were supposed to do on the front-end, so they sent them out. They sent more guys, different guys this time to come. They pulled the coil, did the cleaning, and that time, there wasn’t any cost to me. It was just the $75 fee for them to come diagnose it again. It fixed it. Once they did that the second time and did what they were supposed to, I haven't had any issues. So far, so good. AHS did a really good job. It's just that communication broke down in the first one.

    We had a light in one of my bedrooms that wasn’t coming on even if I changed the bulb and the bathroom exhaust light was also doing that. Also, my range was not working. I went on the American Home Shield website, and it was very easy to submit a claim and then pay for the service upfront. So, I like that part. But sometimes, when the technicians come out, they have no idea what's going on. Then, they would say that they don’t do that or that I need to tell American Home Shield about each particular problem that’s going on or he wouldn’t be paid. I’ve heard that a few times. So, if there was a way on the website when we’re submitting a request for service to explain all that’s going on, it would run a little more efficiently.

    When this particular guy came out, he said he could not fix the range hood and it’s still unfixed. I submitted a follow-up claim for this specific appliance and when the guy came out, he could not fix it either. He said that I needed to purchase the particular bulb from Viking. So, I had to have two different repair service claims for the same thing, and the second one didn't even fix it. For the most part, the contractors are professional. There was a rough patch that I had problems with getting my refrigerator fixed.

    I have a Sub-Zero refrigerator and the contractors must have come out six times last year and they could not get the service right. They had to order parts and I’d have to wait a couple weeks for these parts to come in. They'd come back, fix it, but it wasn’t fixed so then we’d start that whole cycle over again, which was a bit frustrating. Then to top it off, that particular contractor ended up saying he was not coming back out again. AHS sent somebody else that fixed the problem the first time he came out. When you submit the request for service, they should recognize that it’s a Sub-Zero and it needs to go to a Sub-Zero-certified technician. I don’t feel like the people that came out all of last year were certified. They were trying, but obviously, these brands are kinda complicated and not easy to fix.

    I’ve heard horror stories of other home warranties, but AHS have really done a good job to follow through on it though sometimes, it takes some work on my end to repetitively call. Whenever the contractors come out, they would either fix or not. They're supposed to communicate that to AHS but that’s where the disconnect is. Nobody from American Home Shield is following up with me directly after the claim to make sure it was completed to satisfaction. It’s my burden to call them and say, that it’s still not done or that I’m still waiting on a part. It is a month later and nobody has called me to reschedule. So, that part needs some improvement on it but overall, I’m satisfied with American Home Shield. With an older house that I’m in, it gives me peace of mind to know that if something breaks, AHS is available to come in and fix it without a large out-of-pocket expense.

    When we had our fridge cooling system go out on us, my husband YouTubed it. We cleaned out the back of the fridge and tried to do what we thought might work. It started coming back, but we still wanted a tech to come out and kinda look over it to make sure that there was nothing that we were missing. We also wanted to ask them some questions about the compressor, such as the temperature of it.

    It was good to be able to call someone right away when my fridge went out in the middle of the night. It's not cool that you are wondering, "Why do I have a puddle of water where my freezer had ice cubes?" We kind of forgot about it for a second. I said to Google who to call. And my husband said to call the warranty people now. It was very seamless. We were notified by phone and email several times on who'd be calling to do the scheduling. Within two to three hours, someone else got back to us. It was a weekend, unfortunately, and he couldn't come for a couple of days. With COVID, the people are being spaced out so, we understood that.

    The tech who came was on time and very clean. He did not have booties on because he had run out, but I was fine with that. With the COVID, he was respectful with the touching. I asked a lot of questions, which he was very helpful with. He even told us about some of the products that we could use to maintain the cleanliness of the back of the fridge and kinda some good practices to do maybe twice a year. I'm very pleased.

    We've been here for over 10 years and weren't knowledgeable about home warranties. Our insurance broker brought AHS up at the last renewal session we had and we signed up through them. We're very pleased with the extra coverage. It's around 40 bucks a month, which is low enough that we don't think about it. But it would be a great saving when we need it.

    K&N Electric came out for the refrigerator and they were very professional. They were two guys and I liked them better than the service people that had been sent out. They came at the time that they said that they were coming. They were in the house for about a hour or so. They went straight and looked at it, went under and behind it, got it apart, and then they said, “The parts would cost so much to fix this.” They were not trying to just fix something and knowing that they have to come right back out.     I had to have my heater for the spa serviced and Home Shield said that it was not covered because it involved a computer. I've tried to escalate that to a second level or a supervisor and it’s impossible. Their agents are good at signing up service. Many of them are non-native English speakers, so it’s difficult. And the contract provides no one to escalate an issue for reconsideration. I wrote them a letter over a month ago to the address listed in my contract and I’ve had no response. I don’t know how to get someone and I would think there should be a process to review if they deny coverage or you could at least talk to somebody or submit a written objection. I find it a significant deficiency that they have no way to appeal, review, or escalate if there is a disagreement.

    Also, I don’t know how they handle their call center but most of their reps are non-native speakers either in Southeast Asia or parts of Central America. And sometimes, it’s difficult to communicate with them. I had a claim for our furnace in our Colorado home, for which we also have American Home Shield. I told the rep this is a radiant floor heating system and she didn’t understand what I was talking about. They need to improve the language skills of their call center agents. But I’m generally happy with the service. I've been very satisfied with the response and the work and the contractors are very good.

    I had a wall oven to install and D&J Appliances brought the unit in. They were friendly and professional. They measured my unit that was still in the wall and they told me I needed three-quarters of an inch more space. They took it out enough to measure and they put it back in so I could continue to use it. I was responsible for any modifications so I had to contact someone to come out to give me those three quarters of an inch that I needed. Still, it was a good experience with Home Shield.

    We have had contact with American Home Shield at least 5 times this year related to our main HVAC system. We were without heat for almost 6 weeks in January and February. They would only call one company to fix it. They kept ordering parts and installing them but they did not fix the problem. We tried to get American Home Shield to replace the unit but they refused. Finally, the company was able to get the furnace to light part of the time.

    Ten days ago, the AC went out. American Home Shield called the same company to try to fix it. They wanted us to pay $1700 to get our system up to city code and to recharge it with Freon (They claimed that the coil needed to be replaced). We tried to get American Home Shield to replace the unit. They refused and they are only paying us $476 which is what they were going to pay the company to fix it. We would be responsible for paying for the rest of the repair. We finally decided to buy a new unit through another HVAC company. It turned out that the original company was going to overcharge us for unnecessary work. We feel like American Home Shield should have replaced our HVAC unit or at least paid for the new heating unit since it never worked right since they tried to fix it. We voiced our concerns to American Home Shield. They are not willing to reimburse us even though we have been their customers for almost twenty years.

    The last claim that I sent over was for the water heater. It was going in and out. It went out for a couple of hours where we couldn’t get any hot water. I filed a claim with Home Shield and a guy from Whitney Holdings came out. He took a look at it and said he had to order a part. Two weeks later, he came back to install it but when he got here, he said that it was the wrong part that was ordered, so they would reorder the part. Time passed and nobody came. We never got another part sent to the house. I requested from Whitney what was going on and they said that the claim had been closed and I had to reschedule it. It was crazy. Then, all of a sudden, we got a part delivered to our house and I got a text saying that the appointment had been scheduled. They were nice enough to work with.

    I had an electrical issue. I submitted a claim online with AHS and their website told me when the tech would be out. And he was out in that amount of time. It turned out that the sensor was messed up so the garage door would not shut. He had to replace the sensors and he took care of it. Everything's working great now. He was very good, very helpful, and friendly. But I don't know if I'm gonna continue my service with AHS because the price is going up so much that I don't know that the warranty really pays for itself anymore. It's almost doubled over the time that I've been at this house, so I will probably cancel it this year.

    Submitting my claim to American Home Shield for my washing machine was really easy compared to other times that I have submitted. I was able to speak to a live person first. Their contractor, Jaminos Appliance Repair LLC came to service my washing machine. However, the tech left because he couldn't fix it. He took off pieces of the washing machine, evaluated and left quickly. He was with a mask, gloves and shoe shields. AHS then called me back and their rep told me to look at an email they sent and choose the washing machine I wanted. I had somebody call and confirm what I had selected and that person told me what AHS was gonna be doing next. Their techs came and brought me a washing machine. I'm pleased with the one they got me. However, one the people who brought the washing machine did not have a mask and I gave him one. They had no shoe shields either. Still, they provided easy, quick, in and out type of service.

    A couple of years ago, Home Shield's claim process was really ragged and difficult. We left for one year and then we went to another company and that company was worse. When we came back, it seemed like AHS was back on track. And since Sears went out of business, there has been nobody else to emulate what AHS does.

    I called them to file a claim and they gave us a contract number and the company that will be coming out. They said that we will be getting a call from the company soon. Advanced Heating came and they were very professional, informative and educational. They not only came out to do the task that was at hand but they explained what they were gonna do and the way they were doing it. Everything went well and everything that they did was completed to my satisfaction. I had to call them a few times, not because of anything they've done, but because of what the inspectors wanted when we were in the process of selling our home. There were other things they wanted checked. We had the things reinspected and they were found to be in compliance.

    I've been dealing with Plumbers Inc for a month concerning our electric water heater they installed that's not working. The plumber that installed it shorted it out. He hit a wire, sparks flew out the closet and it knocked him out. Plumbers Inc at first said it was a leak. Now, they're trying to say it's electrical. I've been without hot water since April 16th, and I'm very upset with them. And I can't seem to get any leverage from American Home Shield. They were sending somebody out and this is about the fifth person from Plumbers Inc. Aside from Vortex, I also had Anderson Plumbing and Quality Plumbing check the heater. They both said it's faulty, and they're two reputable plumbing companies. AHS kept telling me give this plumbing company a chance, but how many chances should I give them? I just want this heater replaced.

    I'm really upset with Plumbers Inc and American Home Shield. I've had good results from them before, but I'm not having good results with them now. I told them that I have been happy with them up until this time, and I'm just frustrated and I'm getting the runaround from the Plumbers Inc, and they're taking advantage of me 'cause I'm a senior. But I'm not stupid.

    We have a history with American Home Shield and with their providers and we've had some hiccups along the way. There were times when they sent out a provider that didn't fix the issue, and then 34 days later, we have to place another call. We also have to pay another fee, even though it's the same issue that we called them for in the first place. We are ofttimes discouraged as well by the fact that they will not come out and look at an appliance that is obviously starting to struggle or die. If they would come out when they can hear a belt is slipping or something is grinding or something is out of balance, they could avoid having to repair a broken appliance. They won't come out until it's actually broken, so we wait until it breaks and at that point, we're inconvenienced.

    We have keypad entries into our garages and recently, they were not working. KTM Door Control came out to fix them and they ended up replacing one. However, American Home Shield needs to communicate with us, the homeowner, more before assigning a provider. There were times that they assigned us somebody that we worked with in the past and it didn't work, whereas there are times that they've given us a provider like the garage door people that every time they come, they fix the problem. Why can't I select that particular provider instead of one that we worked with before that was not satisfactory? They assign it and we have no recourse. I'm not asking them to go outside of their network too. It's in their network.

    The two contractors that we’ve had out here recently were fantastic. I was very happy with it. We had a hot water heater issue, and then we had a problem with the burner on the oven of our stove. With the stove, I called in the issue to American Home Shield and they set me up with the appliance company. They turned it around efficiently. The company was out the next day to look at the stove and diagnosed the fact that there was a problem. There was an issue with the burner that they had to replace a piece on it, and they got it working again within an hour. It’s working better than it ever did too.

    We haven’t used American Home Shield a lot, but in this particular case, the experience was good. There are some times where I felt like there were items that they should have covered that were related to a repair that they elected not to, but overall, it’s wishful thinking on my half more than anything else. I can’t complain so far with the service, except for the fact that they keep getting more expensive. The monthly rate has gone up significantly. I’m still getting good value for it, but it’s gone up about $20 since I signed up the first time.

    Our first 100-degree day was coming up here in the Coachella Valley. So I swapped out our filters and tested the system. And the fan unit up in the attic was really loud, so I knew there was a problem. So, I made the call. Comfort Air sent over their tech and he climbed up in the attic and he said that the wheel or the squirrel cage was loose, and banging around in there. He ordered the part, swapped it out. It came on a Saturday and then they showed up on a Monday. They were pretty quick.

    They swapped out the fan and everything appeared to be working fine. But then about 3:00 in the morning, it sounded like the motor couldn't get the fan spinning anymore. It woke us up 'cause it was struggling to work. I made a second claim to AHS and I jumped online and submitted it again. It asked me if it had to do with the first claim and it did. It was still the motor assembly up in the attic. The contractors showed up the next day. He said that the motor had also gone bad, so we swapped out the motor and it's been working fine since.

    With the motor assembly up in the attic, everything's been functioning great. My thermostat died a couple of days later but I just swapped that myself. Since then, everything's been working fine. The contractor was great. The second one was very professional too. He was always practicing with social distance. He had his mask on this whole time he was at my house. The technician was very knowledgeable too.

    My microwave had a loud roar. The technician from Cal Valley Appliance Repair came out and explained to me that he would order the parts, he would let the home warranty know what parts they needed, and then when they arrived, that he would be back. Also, if there were any problems, I would hear from American Home Shield. Well, I heard from Cal Valley Appliance Repair and they told me that they had had to order four parts and they would get back to me. Then American Home Shield sent me an email and it told me that they could not repair it. The parts were no longer available. They contacted me and gave me three options, to either replace it, or to get the one that they looked at that if I wanted to upgrade then I could pay the difference, or I could take the cash.

    The options were okay. The only thing that I had a problem was that I was not good with measurements. When I went on the website that they gave me, it said, "Page not available," and it frustrated me. I called one of the others in charge and he went online at his home and gave me the original dimensions. He said that according to the dimensions in the thing, it would fit. I said, "Okay," then he said it was white, and that was what I wanted.

    I called American Home Shield with the number they gave me and they told me that if it didn't fit, I would be responsible for the restocking charge. I got upset and asked how was I supposed to know that. They said that I have to measure it. There was a young girl next door to me. She came over and we measured it together. Then she went to Google and pulled up the number of the microwave that they gave me. We figured out that it would fit. I called AHS and told them to send it. They asked if I was sure it would fit and told them yes. They told me I'd hear from them in five to seven days.

    They came Thursday or Friday morning and installed it and I just held my breath while they were putting it in. Then I was informed that I'd have to get someone to haul the old microwave off and I was frustrated about that. When I got this warranty 21 years ago, I bought the top deal that they had for my small condo. The guy told me that I could call and see how much it would cost to add to it. So then, I called the elder from the church and he said he and his son would pick it up to haul it off and that to have them put it on the front porch so that's where it is. The new microwave's fine now. I heated water in it. I don't use it for cooking.

    We had an issue where the air conditioner was not sending cool air to the vent. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was very quick. I have been with them for a couple of years now and it has been much quicker. It is also quicker to do it online than to dial through and get somebody. About the second that I click what I need and hit the button, I will get a text back and it will have me the person. I thought I was going to have to contact them, which surprised me. So, the contractor Mel's Preventive Maintenance contacted me right away.

    The first time the tech came out, it was a Friday where it was like, “Man, I wished I could have found this problem before,” but the weather had not warmed up enough. I sent that request at 4:00 o’clock in the evening where nobody else was going to respond, but he came out that evening. He said, "I can be out there in 35 minutes.” He was helpful. Then we had to have him come back because he sprayed some stuff to check for leaks, which was not the issue. When he came back, the condenser was freezing up. So, he fixed it the next time. He was wonderful and on both times he was very quick. Since the repairs the house has been nice and cool. The unit has been working.

    We had a toilet wax seal broken and I had done this before to a point. But when I realized it was beyond my level because the floor was messed up, I got online with AHS and had a technician come out the next day. He had to jack up the pieces off the floor, install a lifter kit, and offered some other things. Apparently, when they redid the house, they did not do it correctly. So, the wax ring was set below the floor and that’s not how it was supposed to be. The gentleman did very well and he repaired it on the same day. He got it done in three hours and I was impressed with him. Everything works very good now.

    We purchased a home with the warranty from AHS. One month after we purchased it the AC pump burned out and there was a leak and flooding in my home. Newly installed baseboards and door frames were damaged. They sent someone to repair it and we paid the co-pay. They said damage is not covered, however, I should have kept the old pump and they could have checked for manufacturer's defects to help with the water damage that my home incurred.

    Less than 5 months later the pump stopped working so I called AHS (approximately 30 minute wait) and asked that they send out the company again. The rep immediately told us that it's been more than 30 days and is no longer covered and that we need to pay the co-pay again. So we did and she said she would send out the same company, however, she didn't. It was another company altogether.

    Under the contract, heating and cooling issues are considered emergencies and they have to have someone out within 3 days. The person took 5 days to get here and the tech said the pump was defective and we need another one. We live in Las Vegas and summer has started so it is hot. I called AHS and the first thing the rep tells me is that she cannot do anything until a report is received and then it would take time to process. I told her it was not an option because it was hot and also because I have kids. Also, I asked that they contact the original repair company to have them cover the co-pays.

    She put me on hold to call the repair company to get things moving and after 5 minutes the system transferred me to a voicemail and hung up. No one called back. I called the repair company and they informed me that AHS never called as the rep told me she was doing. The repair company is a small shop with only one person that handles claims and she answered right away when I called. I am now on a call with them again and have been on hold for 20 minutes trying to get a rep on the phone. They are quick to take the premium and the co-pays but don't have any consideration for the customer. I wouldn't even give them one star if I could. Another typical insurance company.

    I own a few different properties and have AHS on all of them. Over a month ago, one of my properties had a leak at the faucet over the tub. This property is in the Sacramento area and the plumber that AHS uses is Budget Rooter. Anyhow, Budget Rooter came out and then left saying they needed to order parts. Since then, we have not heard a peep from them. My property manager has left several messages with zero response. I called AHS (2 weeks ago) and was able to get a person on the phone who said she would reach out to the plumber herself, but I never heard back.

    My property manager messaged me today and said she still can't reach anyone and the faucet was never fixed. I tried to help by calling AHS and cannot get a human on the phone to speak with. I keep getting disconnected or put on indefinite hold. I have left a message with the plumber and we'll see if they call me back since they haven't heard of my name yet, only my property managers. I do NOT recommend this company unless they can get better subcontractors and better customer service where you can speak to a person to get issues resolved. I will be switching companies the beginning of the next month and AHS will be losing my business. Maybe if I had only one property they may not care, but they are losing 4 properties plus the business of anyone who may be reading this review.

    I paid AHS to clear my kitchen sink. I was told I need a clean out installed. And call my warranty company. Today I'm told they would come back and install one for $250.00. I called my Handyman Larry, and he snaked out the line and clear the blockage. H&K plumbing got $125.00 and did nothing. Do not use them American Home Shield.

    Subpar work, when it goes wrong they do everything not to cover. I have had AHS for multiple years. Where they do okay, minor issues such as a backed up sink. However, it will usually take 2-3 service calls (assume you have to call in and be on hold for 15 minutes each time) to get an issue resolved. If you have a major issue that is when it gets troublesome. Most reputable companies for plumbing, HVAC won't work with them. They get asked to do subpar work.

    I had a major issue last year - backed up sink from 3 separate calls that wasn't resolved and was flooding my house. The soonest a technician could get to my house was 2 weeks. I called in for an exception so that the issue could be addressed by a non-AHS contracted company. Was granted the exception and sent a packet of paperwork to fill out. They want to speak directly with the technician as to what each charge line item of the invoice will be. Companies will not allow their technicians to speak to the insurance company.

    I called in and explained this and was told to provide the invoice with line items and other paperwork and to file the claim. It took me 10 more hours of calls to get where I was supposed to send the required paperwork. Then nothing. No response. 11 months later a rep was able to tell me they said no because something I had done didn't match their checklist. None of this information was shared with me and I had done as they asked and there is no department, email or anywhere you can follow up with. The reimbursement for my claim will be less than 20% of what I had to pay for the repair. How they get out of paying, no technicians available and you can't wait 2 weeks.

    Second issue, new A/C unit not working properly. Called in for a diagnostic and solution. No response received and the item was closed. Upon routine maintenance (which I pay for) the technician can see no work was done on the unit. I call in to advise work was not done and if I continue to use the A/C a new unit will be destroyed. Again multiple hours of calls, neither the company nor the vendor has provided me with a copy of the work order to show what was done. Was told to wait about a week until everything can be cleared up or I can pay again for another service call. It's 100+ degrees where I live. This is a pretty typical interaction with them. 3-5 calls to get an issue resolved. If you buy a new house and don't know the maintenance level of the home, a home warranty is probably worth it. Once you have updated and know the maintenance level of your home, they are not worth it.

    I put the call in with AHS on February the 1st and they sent out Greenway Home Services to repair my washing machine. Their service was great but my claim didn't get resolved until April. They had to order a part but AHS never had an ETA on when it was going to come. What they ended up doing was having to replace the washing machine. They said they were going to expedite it but nothing was done. Also, I was treated rudely several times by American Home Shield. I would call and ask why I had to tell them about my problem over and over when they had my claim documented.

    Plus, I'm disabled and I have a daughter who is also disabled and in a wheelchair. She wears pull-ups and I have to change her sheets a couple of times a day. I was trying to wash our sheets in the tub or to get to the laundromat, then COVID hit and I was still trying to do all that but it seemed like nobody cared. I was spending $50 to have our clothes washed and I was going to the washer three times a week. I went through that for some months but AHS did not reimburse me for my expenses. Right now, I am very skeptical about AHS but I know I need the warranty because I'm on a fixed income. If something would be broken and I didn't have money to buy a new one, I'd have a little peace of mind. But it feels like you'd have to wonder if they're gonna do the service. Then after complaining and waiting for so long, you wonder if you're gonna be treated fairly or if your claim will be handled when you make the phone call to them.

    I had an issue with the water heater. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and the first time that they sent out a tech was a little tough. But sometimes those people that they use to do their service are the people that they can get contact with, which is understandable. But if I was gonna get something fixed for myself and I didn't have insurance, and I would choose a contractor, it wouldn't be the one that they chose to send out. But afterwards, they sent out Sears and the guy was awesome. My experience with him was fantastic and the service was quick. He was sweet and he knew what he was doing. It was easy and he fixed it. In the end, we had to get a new one as the old one was completely destroyed.

    I had an issue with my dryer, and the first time contractors came out, it was tripping a circuit breaker. Once it was determined, the tech wanted to check the vent runs from the dryer to outside. He discovered that that was clogged. And he said, “That’s probably a problem. You have to get that fixed, and we’re gonna do that.” And he promptly left.

    When I called back and followed-up for my dryer, that’s where the issue came in. It was unreal. I was on the phone for 40 minutes then it hung up on me. I called back three more times, and it hung up on me again and again. At this point, I was not a happy camper. I called another number that I found, and it seemed it got me through a little bit better, but still I had to continue to wait. During that time of hanging up, I might’ve wasted a good hour and 20 minutes. When I tried the other number, I was not feeling very good about talking to anybody at that time.

    Otherwise, once they get their service fee, they’re pretty happy in getting that, especially if they didn’t even have to do a thing. Then the tech came out and he took the dryer apart. He determined what it was was a loose wire. So when he started it back up, he heard a bearing was starting to go out on the dryer. And he said, “We can fix that. But the problem is we don’t have the part.” The bottom line was he said, “If you were just dealing with us directly, we could probably get that bearing taken care of within a day or two. But since I’m dealing with American Home Shield, they have to order the part.” I asked him how long will it take and he said five days. For my wife’s satisfaction, last week I called. Then I explained to her, “I wasted some time that I’m not gonna get back.”

    After spending $120 to get that fixed, I had to go through phone hell with American Home Shield again. I’m on the phone again for close to an hour just waiting. Once I got somebody, they tell me I had to get that fixed. I got that fixed, and then they told me I had to email a receipt to the folks who came out the first time. I called back. The wait was a little bit less, but nevertheless, I had to wait. I put it on speakerphone so my wife could hear, and she was satisfied. But by that time, I was really pissed off ‘cause I don’t like calling and waiting. I’m a very patient man, but my patience has grown very thin with American Home Shield. Unfortunately, I told my wife, “We’re gonna start replacing stuff.”

    That was a Friday. I called them back, and they told me that the part will be in Saturday, and I’m supposed to get a phone call today to set up an appointment for the gentleman to come by and fix my dryer. In the meantime, I am going through laundry hell. I called my mother and father, and I said, “My wife and I have small loads that we have to get washed.” I’m still waiting. By the next two hours, I’m just gonna go ahead and go through phone hell again to find out when I’ll get my dryer fixed. If AHS and the contractor company were a little more efficient, I wouldn’t rank them low or not recommend American Home Shield to anybody.

    I admit the coronavirus probably had a lot of people at home wearing out their equipment like mine. I can understand that. What I don’t understand is if you’re taking X amount of money out of me once a month, and then turnaround and charge me per visit $75, which I find that to be tacky. It’s almost like a racket. Come to think of it, last year, although it was free because it was part of my contract when I bought my home, my hot water heater went out, and when I went to replace it, it seemed like it cost me more. My wife told me, someone came out and took care of this. Then there was a funny issue about something that’s required on the hot water heater that American Home Shield did not cover which cost me $300 because it was a city ordinance. I was like, “Wait a minute, I’m paying for this?” But then, like I said, my wife, she convinced me to go ahead and renew it.

    I’m not saying that all of it is bad. Pipe Solutions came out and I had two problems. Submitting the claim over the phone was easy. It didn’t take any time. I had a toilet that was running, and the tech replaced the flapper on it. It seemed to do the job, but the problem started once again. I just told my wife, “We can live with this. I’m not gonna worry too much about it anymore.” The other problem was I had a leak at a toilet, on the tank, and the tech fixed that. I had no problems out of that. Also, I had a stopped-up sink where they had to come out and snake it. I was ready to pay X amount of dollars, but they said I didn’t have to. But the bottom line, I did ‘cause they constantly keep taking a service fee out of the account where they take my payment out of.

    I’m a little weary with American Home Shield. It is an older house and some of the appliances that I have are old. The refrigerator that I got, I told my wife, “We’re not gonna get it fixed. We’re just gonna replace it and just be done with it.” She asked me about the toilet, I said, “We’re gonna replace it with a newer toilet.” I just might as well start replacing stuff. If something goes out or is about to go out, I’d just rather just go ahead spend the money and just get a new one. American Home Shield may be good for some people. But for me, it’s a trying thing. They’re good, but they’re sneaky. I am gonna let American Home Shield go at the end of my contract, which is in November. I probably won’t be renewing them because of this experience.

    Whenever I turned on the garbage disposal, I could hear the motor come on, but it was locked up. The disposal itself wouldn’t turn. I looked in that thing, shined a light down there, and looked all around but I couldn’t see anything. I finally gave up and called American Home Shield. Draingo of Alabama came out and the power was off here temporarily when the tech came in. He checked it and found a penny and pulled it out. He said to try it and see when the power comes back on and that he was sure it would work and it did. I also had a claim for the washing machine. It has a big hole in it and they sent a repairman out here. He determined it couldn’t be fixed so they paid for it. I had a new washing machine put in and I got paid for it. I’ve tried different warranties in the past and I’ve always come back to Home Shield.

    The rate goes up every year but other than that, my experience with American Home Shield is okay. There was one thing though. When they wrote up the contract, I thought the garbage disposal was part of it. It turned out it wasn’t. So I didn’t care for that because now, I have to pay for it in full myself. But if American Home Shield selects a contractor that I’ve had poor experience with, they’re really nice in changing it. I appreciate that. For my Whirlpool dryer, it was GM Appliance Service that came out and the gentleman was really nice. He replaced the parts that needed replacing.

    AHS has raised my monthly payments by an extra $10 just after two years. I'm not happy about that. My water wasn't getting hot one time. It would take over three minutes before it even started to get hot and I had to run water for a really long time. Plus, when I took a dip, the water is barely hot at all. Whenever I would take a shower, the water would only stay a few minutes at a given temperature then it would start getting cold. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they got Plumbers Inc. out to me. The tech who came was very professional and he explained everything. However, the problem was not fixed. I already got another phone call from a certain Carissa and now I have to pay for a modification. AHS is gonna send the plumber back to put in a new water heater for me.

    My refrigerator was leaking water from the bottom and my washing machine had stopped. Filing the claim with Home Shield was pretty easy. It wasn’t difficult to navigate the website and get that done. The only thing was when you click on file a claim, it kinda reroutes you back to your homepage. It took me a couple of times before I figured out what I needed to click on my account page. If that could be a little bit smoother.

    As soon as I got it done, I got an email almost immediately with what company was gonna be coming out and their phone number and address. Georgia Boy Electric was sent out and the tech called before he came. It took him no time to fix my refrigerator. A hose or something had frozen over and he took five minutes to get that fixed. Then, he checked out my washing machine and told me exactly what was wrong. He said he was gonna write it up and that it would be cheaper for Home Shield to replace it than to force him to fix it. And that process was easy and simple.

    Our dishwasher rack broke. Also, something was wrong with our washing machine where it would always be unbalanced. And so, it would take hours to wash a load because it would never balance out. And then the vent hood was shaking and vibrating and was really loud. We submitted a claim online, and then we got a call from the AAA Appliance Repair and we scheduled an appointment. They came out, did an assessment, talked about that we needed to order parts, and then, they did that and left. And then we haven't heard from them for three weeks.

    This was just before the lockdown when they came out the first time, and then we had the quarantine. And then they didn't know if they were an essential service so it took them a long time to come back out. And finally, we said, “Well, okay. If you’re not gonna come out, then give the parts to somebody else and let them come out ‘cause we need this stuff fixed.” But when they actually came to do the work, the guy was very professional and very nice. Overall, it’s a good experience and it has been with American Home Shield. It just works.

    One thing I didn't like is that last year we had one rate, and this year, they raised it because we used them. It’s not bad because they actually get the job done. They send the people out, and the people they contract with have actually done a good job. We had an electrical thing, and they did that, and they did a wonderful job with it. We’re pretty pleased.

    The pool pump wasn't turning on. We looked and there was electricity going to the pump area. It just wasn't coming on to have the vacuum or the fountain go on. Everything kind of circulates in there and nothing was coming on. I logged in to the account online to submit the claim to American Home Shield. It was super easy to use and it said on there that they usually reach out within three days.

    Then Expert Pools contacted us right away. It was within two days after I put that claim in, even with all this COVID stuff going on. They were very quick and super professional. They had somebody assigned to come out the following day and we didn't even really know that they were there. They notified us that they were there, fixed the pump, left an invoice on the outside and let us know they were leaving. So it didn't disrupt what we were doing that day but we had the pump up and running.

    Since we're trying to find something to do at our house while we're stuck there or while things aren't open and it's super hot, it affects us when something like that doesn't work. But we were able to get in that pool that same day. The pump is actually better now than it was before too. The old pump was a little noisy and in doing whatever they did, they adjusted whatever needed to be adjusted. It's super quiet now. Everything is working perfectly. Expert Pools was awesome. I'm very satisfied.

    AHS's contractor, S & L came out and did a check for my air conditioning for the summer. The techs asked me to turn my air conditioning on and came back in less than 2 minutes saying that my big air conditioning unit is bad and that he was gonna cancel my order for maintenance. I had to tell AHS that there is a problem with my big air conditioning unit and to tell the contractors to come out again. That was a fact so I put in another order. As soon as that was in, S & L came out again and fixed the unit that was bad. They ended up replacing the motor and the fan. Their last visit was very good.

    AHS covers a lot of different things. I've had two claims in the two years I've had American Home Shield and submitting them online has been very simple. Their site is easy to use. One time, one of my pipes coming off my water line was leaking. At the same time, one of the faucets for my basement sink was leaking as well. I submitted a claim and AHS's techs from P.H.D. Mechanical came to do service. I had to call them back out the same day though but it all worked out in the end.

    American Home Shield has been very good. But I have had a problem with having to return my call. I needed some clarification and I couldn't get it. Every time I called, they said a supervisor would call me back. It has been three weeks and they still haven’t returned my call. I also had another issue and I went through their tech support. It was the online chat system and I happened to mention that I was still waiting for a callback on that issue. Other than that, the other issues I had were fixed very promptly. If they didn’t get it fixed that day, there was an explanation and they came back and did what they had to do. So, it’s just that when you have a real problem and you don’t understand why it’s being denied, they don’t call you back. American Home Shield needs to be better at communicating.

    In a conversation in one of my classes that we had, someone said their air conditioner clunked out on them and they had to pay over $3,000. Someone mentioned Home Shield and I looked it up, did my research and I said, "Oh, okay. Got it." I just go online and submit the request and things of that nature there. I wish when you do go online and submit the request that you can put in more comments. It doesn't really give you the option to write down what's going on. You just select whatever the appliance is and it just gives you some pre-formatted options and you just have to try to pick the closest one to it, but you can't explain. That would be helpful. Apex Appliance Service and Repair came out for the washing machine. The guy came in, identified a problem, and he also identified another issue. He fixed it and it was good to go. It took him 40 minutes, give or take. He had the mask and gloves on. We left him alone in the area that he needed to be in.

    We've lived at four different places and we've had American Home Shield since we bought our very first house. It's been 20 years. We transferred the policy every time or when the seller purchased the warranty, we always said, "American Home Shield." Their claims process is very easy even though that online stuff is all new.

    All Flow was our designated contractor for an air conditioner issue. It felt like things weren't getting cooler and not coming out of the vents. They came out and checked that. They said when the people built our house in 2002, they really didn't do a good job on the ductwork. The contractor was very good and was able to tell us how to maintain our system just until we can get a loan to put a new AC in next year and get the ductwork fixed.

    I was in real estate and I used to recommend American Home Shield. I did so with my daughter. I think the company has gotten better over the years. I just wish that they would replace things a little bit more rather than constantly having people come out and come out. That was just some past experience with my last house. Other than that, I'd recommend them.

    The icemaker on our refrigerator went out. The seal was broken and the compressor stopped. It wasn’t cooling, so we ended up having to put all of our stuff in an ice chest for about a week while we waited for the parts. Submitting the claim was simple and easy.     It’s pretty easy making a claim with American Home Shield. I'm fine with both their phone and online process. Sometimes, I don’t like to wait but I have to be patient. When you call in and the payment is taken, the wait time to see a contractor should go a little faster because some things could be very serious. But overall, it’s okay.     I had two claims with American Home Shield and the most recent one was the air conditioner that they resolved today. It was not cooling and it turned out it was low on refrigerant. So, the technician was able to come out and get it charged up, and now it should be just fine. He got the job done. He was in and out in a hurry and certainly not wasting any time. The other claim was for the microwave. The magnetron and start-up diode had died out. The technician was able to come out and got it diagnosed. It took a little while to get the parts because it’s older but he came right back and got it installed and working. So, it was heating up everything properly. Then, we realized all the lights and everything had gone out. So, he took it into the shop and returned it the next day 100% operational.

    My AC went out and I called in and submitted the claim for a contractor to come out and do the repairs. I went through the automated prompt system and a rep called me back. She told me that she was gonna assign the claim to one of their contractors and somebody would be in touch with me within 24 to 48 hours. Ace Heating & Cooling called me and they told me ahead of time when the rep was gonna be coming out, which was the following day. The tech called me 30 minutes before he came and told me he was on his way. When he got here, they called and told me that he was here. He took a look at the unit and he told me he diagnosed what was wrong and what was the next step. The compressor went out and he would have to get in touch with American Home Shield and provide them with the information.

    He let me know the next step would be whether or not AHS was gonna approve the work to get it done. He had to do some additional analysis on the unit and there are certain things that AHS wouldn't approve, which would have to come out of my pocket. It was almost $1,200. I wasn't expecting that part and I was a bit disappointed on that one. I've never used AHS before and when I got in touch with them, they told me all I had to pay was a $100 service fee. And I had to pay it before I even got to talk to a rep or got the claim submitted.

    I contacted the company again and I told them what I was gonna do. We needed the AC unit because it was getting pretty hot and the tech submitted the claim. AHS approved part of the claim. I still had to come out of pocket over $500, which I wasn't expecting, and I had to pay for them to put Freon in the unit as well. I ended up having to get a credit card and put in the amount that was charged to me on there. If I didn't get approved for the credit card, what next? My AC unit wouldn't have been fixed. But the unit has been good and it's been working great since they came out. It started cooling right away after the tech finished doing the work and got the unit running.

    Texas A-1 Pool repaired the pump. Stephen replaced the motor that is attached to the pump, and a plate which connects from the motor to the pump. He was here three times. The first time, he attempted to repair the pump and then his diagnosis was that the motor was shut so he had to return the next day and he brought a motor to replace it.     I’m a new homeowner and I was advised by a few people that already have home warranties themselves to get AHS. They said it's a good thing to have. It gives peace of mind. If something goes, you give them a call, they'll come out and look at it. And it costs you a lot cheaper than if you didn't have it. Recently there was a smell of old water. I thought it was my trash, but it was the water that was sitting in the dishwasher that was backed up in there. The dishwasher was leaking water inside of it when I'm not using it. I submitted the claim and someone called me and set up an appointment to come out. The contractor came in, and because during these times, he had his mask on, put on shoe covers because I had a carpet.

    As he was looking, he was explaining to me what it looks like. He said I need to use the dishwasher a little more. He said there was something loose with the wiring. He tightened it up for me. He said sometimes it's normal to have a little water down there, but I could take a little bit of bleach and mix it in if I wanted to and just pour a little bit of water in there. So far after the service, I haven't seen water backup in there. I was very satisfied. I don't have the smell of old water sitting there.

    The garbage disposal would not do anything. I have tried everything I could to see if there was something holding it up, but I could not find anything. When the guy from Kyle's Plumbing came out, he looked at it and said a lot of times that there was something I could turn on the bottom to unclog.     Our toilet was not flushing. I called Home Shield and I also did the claim online. Submitting the claim was easy. Home Shield had Lil’ John’s Plumbing come out for that. But I had already used the plunger to fix the toilet before the technicians came in so when he came in, he didn’t really see anything wrong with it. But I was like, “No, but it keeps doing this. I have to get my plunger two or three times a week to fix it.” And we would just use our toilet often normally. I had to prove to him that there was an issue. The tech couldn’t figure out what the issue was. As he was leaving, I was cleaning the bathroom and I flushed it. It clogged up again. He got the snake and took out some old stuff that was in there. Our toilet has been working since he left. We are allowed to use the toilet again. It helped.

    I had two toilets that were broken but the tech said it needed to be a separate claim. It was supposed to be one toilet. The tech said there was only one toilet in the claim too. But he went and looked at the second toilet. That one keeps clogging up but I’m just gonna get a snake myself and try to fix it. When I made the claim, the Home Shield website was nice. The only thing was the site didn't let me put how many toilets online so I just put toilet issue. The tech looked at the other toilet but again, it was flushing because I had already used the plunger. Right now, it’s messed up again.

    He tried putting toilet paper in there. It was working the day he was there. I should have left it broken but it was stinking up so bad that I went and did it myself until he came. I used the plunger this morning and it works. It’s working now. Next time it messes up, I might call Home Shield again. I never called Home Shield back because the tech said it would have to be another 80 bucks. I was not gonna do that.

    I flip houses. I had a rental property and I had Soul-utions come out because the water tank wasn’t working and it smelled like sulfur. I knew I had to pay out of pocket. So, they went in there and did their job. They looked at the water tank. My knob to my shower was stuck so the water wasn’t coming out. They tried to get a piece off. They couldn't do it.     American Home Shield’s website was very user-friendly but I was trying to follow up on a group of repairs that I had submitted because we were asking for reimbursement for an installation, and I could not get through to anybody that spoke good English. I would be on hold forever and then it would take about 20 minutes dealing with that person and they would say they couldn’t handle my claim and that they would have to transfer me over. I'd be back at the beginning. Still, the contractor, Ave's Lock and Key, did a great job. There were good vibes and the repair made it easier because we now have the same key for all of our locks. For the most part, AHS is good if you need to submit for a claim or for a service call, but following up with the company itself is a different matter. Getting a contractor out doesn’t seem to be the issue, but getting to talk to somebody that can help when I have a question is different.

    The sink hoses popped off. They were leaking water under my kitchen sink. The sink was clogged in the upstairs bathroom and the shower was leaking. But the contractor could only fix the sink in the kitchen. When I submitted the claim online, the website was user-friendly. Everything was pretty much laid out. But it wasn't as detailed as I think it could have been. If you had a problem with the plumbing, you should be able to put in there more specifics of what you needed. Because when the contractor came, the tech knew nothing about the shower because I had nowhere to even say that the shower was leaking as well. They knew it was plumbing and they knew something was wrong with the kitchen sink, but they didn't know what they were getting into. So when you select a specific category or item that needs to be fixed, you should be able to put in there, either in a comment box or just be more specific on why and what you need them to fix.

    The contractor was excellent. They confirmed before they came in if they need a mask, which they did not need. They made sure we were comfortable. They told us how they had to come in and out. They used the sidewalk. They didn't walk through my grass. We had them come over a couple of times and they were friendly, they joked, and they talked the whole time. They were okay with our pets. I'm completely satisfied.

    So far, we've had excellent service with the warranty. I haven't had any issues contacting American Home Shield by phone or online. The contractors that came out were extremely friendly. I'm one of those people that don't like new people, so having a stranger come to my house already makes me feel awkward. But at no point in time did I feel awkward or unsafe about the contractors walking upstairs or to a different part of my house unsupervised. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to anybody, especially if somebody is buying a house like we just did. They are friendly and they answer the phone.

    I was getting locks changed. When the tech came out, it was very straightforward. He changed four locks and he was very helpful. I had a boiler issue before but American Home Shield didn’t solve that. The tech just said that the system was fine, but nothing changed after that. I’m currently having issues with American Home Shield right now. I have a plumbing claim in and I’ve talked to three different representatives at American Home Shield. Each one said they would call me back before the end of the day but they didn’t.

    Another issue is that the plumber that they hired for the claim isn’t closing out the claim, and I have like 40 days left on my contract. Between American Home Shield and the plumber, no one is getting back to me. It’s been going on since April 24th and the issue is not fixed. The last time I called, I asked to talk to a supervisor and the rep said, “Why do you need to talk to a supervisor?” I actually felt confident in her rectifying the situation but she didn’t call at the end of the day. I didn’t speak to a supervisor. I was hold on for 30 minutes. I definitely would not recommend them.

    The plumbing company that came out has an F in Better Business Bureau. All the reviews were terrible for them saying that they would come, say that a part needed to be replaced, which was what was in my case, and then never call back ever again to follow up to repair the part. American Home Shield doesn't hire good companies, except for the locksmith. They were great. But all the other places have bad Better Business Bureau ratings. They don’t follow through. I’m not impressed.

    I have put in a claim for our AC unit and the contractors are still working on it. This issue has been going on too long and they've been out four times. Today, I spoke to the technician that came out Saturday because they ordered a part and the installation department was supposed to come out when the part comes.

    The head guy that came out Saturday said that the very first technician who came out caused the problem because he stuck the refrigerant directly into the water pan instead of down below in the PVC pipe. He blew it out and that was why it's leaking now. I tried to tell them from the beginning it was the water pan and I even have his text message to prove that he agreed. Then he said they needed to put in another work order. I'm worn out with this whole thing and I'm done with it. It's been hell and it's been very stressful.

    I tried to get a new person out and I talked to two reps and they said they were going to call me back but they never did. Then I held for two and a half hours last Friday and it was 12:30 in the morning when I finally hang up my phone. I was in tears and I was so worn out listening to that song over and over again for two and a half hours trying to reach somebody who could help me. Then finally, I was sounding desperate and the other people worked with me a little bit. It's been tough with both AHS and the contractor and the fact that the reps promised they would call me back and help me and nobody did. I felt helpless.

    Every once in a while, the plumbers have come out for this issue but it's never been like this. I've used Home Shield a couple of times when I had the same problem. For the original issue, the water pan was clogged. If you don't pour bleach down in it, it gets yucky and it gets clogged up. It's a natural occurrence and it happens every two to three years. They had to go in there and blow it out.

    My sister told me to get another company but I told her AHS is the best. They helped me in the past with my plumbing and it had been successful. They also came right out and helped me out with my tub, toilet, sink, air conditioner and water heater. I'm all alone and I depend on them to help me. I am satisfied with Home Shield but I am not right now. I will still recommend them even though I'm having a bad experience and even though they never called me back.

    We had a really large windstorm then the next day when we came outside and the pool started up, I noticed that there was a pretty sizeable leak from the filter in the pool. But I wasn't sure whether it was caused by something from the storm or it just was a coincidence. I went ahead and tried to fix it myself but I couldn't get it to work. So, I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and it was pretty easy through their website. They sent out Breakthrough Pools and the gentleman that came out took the pool filter apart. Then he cleaned the filter, reinstalled the gasket, added some sort of sealant to it, and put it right back into service. He also had to retap the clamp that holds it in place. So he kinda solved all these little issues with it and put it back right as new.

    We had another claim for the pool where Breakthrough Pools also came out. Both times, it had been the same gentleman and I'm not sure if he's the only employee, but either way, they've done a great job. The guy was very responsive and he did more than what was listed on the claim. If there was some small adjacent issue to it, he addressed that as well. When he was here for the pool filter claim, he said that one of the screws on the clamp that holds the filter together was cross-threaded. So, he took it apart and rethreaded it for me. And I didn't worry about it. The time before that, I had a pump leak issue but he fixed a couple of small issues while he was out there as well. So the service was outstanding and I'm happy with them.
