    AHS is good to have when you need an appliance fixed. I called them for an issue with my washing machine and the tech fixed it. He left me a thing saying that he was coming back to do something, but I called him four times for about a week, and left messages. But he didn't return my calls. He then called and said he needed to come back and do some work. But I told him that he was done. So far, my machine works, but I don't know what he did. It’s a $1,800 washing machine and it doesn't need very much. Other than that, AHS are okay. My issue is not with them. They send someone out, and they can't control who they send. But they could be cheaper.

    American Home Shield’s (AHS) failed to fulfill its contractual obligations in connection with a service request for a malfunctioning air conditioning unit submitted in early March 2025. Despite being a loyal AHS customer since 2016, I was presented with two unacceptable options: (1) wait approximately 90 days for a backordered part with no interim solution, or (2) accept a $600 cash payout in lieu of service, which would require me to source the part (they themselves could not locate elsewhere) and manage the repairs independently at my own expense. I was told maybe I would be fortunate enough to stumble upon a company that had one in it's storage.

    I reside in Florida, where prolonged lack of air conditioning poses a serious health risk. My home has reached unsafe temperatures (up to 86°F), and my child has suffered nosebleeds due to the heat. Multiple attempts to resolve the issue through AHS customer service, including escalated calls, were met with dismissive and unhelpful responses.

    I now have to pay $3,500 for a full system upgrade—an offer I view as coercive and inconsistent with the company's advertised commitment to customer care and good faith service. Although AHS has acknowledged its inability to obtain the necessary part, I am being unreasonably expected to do so, in direct contradiction to the obligations implied under the service agreement.

    The freezer wasn't freezing, the thermostat was not defrosting correctly, and the ice machine was not working correctly. So, I needed to get a new ice machine and thermostat. The technicians that AHS sent out did really well. They let me know what was going on and told me what they were getting ready to do. They were also respectful of my home while they were repairing my refrigerator. They repaired the issues, but I'm going to call AHS again because it seems like something is going on with this ice machine again. Every time I use this ice machine, it's making this horrible sound. All in all, I really am thankful for American Home Shield and the people that they send out to fix appliances. But it seems like there's always something wrong, and it's frustrating. And I don't believe it's an issue with the technicians. It's the actual products. They just don't make stuff like they used to.

    I’ve invested quite a lot into American Home Shield’s warranty program since I’ve had it for many years, which made my unpleasant experience all the more disappointing. I scheduled a repair for my dryer for what seemed a simple issue and ended up taking time off work since repairs usually require someone to be home. Unfortunately, the repairman who arrived was not only rude but informed me that he would not be able to fix the issue, stating it was not covered by the warranty. This was unexpected since I had always assumed a basic repair such as this would be handled with my current plan.

    After deciding not to renew my warranty, given my appliances were fairly new, I tried canceling with the company online.     I recently had an issue with the ice maker on my Samsung refrigerator.     Things were well when I made a claim to have my air conditioner inspected. That request was processed smoothly, and everything seemed in order. However, I faced an issue with my pool pump on March 9th and my experience has been quite frustrating. My pool pump, part of my in-ground pool, needed replacement, and I placed a claim. A contractor from Intertek scheduled an appointment within a week and confirmed the pump needed replacement, and indicated they'd get the order started in conjunction with American Home Shield. It all seemed straightforward until it wasn't. Weeks passed, but nothing happened. I found myself stuck in a cycle of back-and-forth calls between American Home Shield and Intertek, each pointing to the other.

    Finally, while I was on vacation, they informed me the order was approved and the pump would be installed soon. It's important to note that due to updated laws requiring variable speed pumps for energy efficiency, this meant additional costs for me. Overall, while I've generally had positive interactions with American Home Shield in the past, this situation highlighted a significant breakdown in communication and process. If there was an escalation process for stalled cases like mine, it would certainly have alleviated much of the unnecessary stress.

    We requested a roof leak repair and the tech who came out estimated a cost of $20,000, which I disagreed with, as we required only specific repairs and not a total replacement. We got the cash in lieu and according to American Home Shield's policy, we were supposed to receive up to $1,000 in cash, but we're still asking to do that. Also, they're giving 300 something to the contractor for the diagnostic, which I don't know why they would do. We already paid for the 125 service fee.

    Moreover, on another occasion, we faced an issue with appliances, specifically with our washer and leaking refrigerator, leading to damage in our basement. For the washer problem, it took several attempts to resolve, meaning the damage was unexpected yet substantial before the actual repair was attempted. Setting appointments with American Home Shield was another task. I had to manage everything via phone, but it wasn't easy due to language barriers, which added to the complication. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has left me dissatisfied.

    When my dishwasher needed repair, I initiated a service request online, expecting a prompt resolution. It took about 48 hours for them to respond, and when the service company, Yukon Appliance Repair, finally arrived, they didn't manage to fix the dishwasher. After a month and a half, I'm still waiting for a proper repair. American Home Shield seems to simply pass the blame back and forth with Yukon, which they themselves contracted.

    Despite being a customer for over 20 years, the service I've received recently has been below expectations. The technicians sent by American Home Shield were neither qualified nor effective. They took a long time to order a part that I could've easily obtained myself, and their communication has been poor. Not only is my dishwasher still malfunctioning, but a promised refrigerator repair was also unsuccessful.

    Repeated visits have led to more damage and inconsistency, with one technician not speaking much English, compounding the frustration. At this point, I feel like they are doing the minimum, pushing me to give up rather than providing the service I've been paying for. I’m now considering switching to another provider if the situation doesn't improve soon. Such an outcome is shockingly disappointing given my long-standing business with them.

    My heating system stopped working in my home. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield using their app, and the process was very straightforward. I received the contractor's details, including their company name, address, and phone number, before they even contacted me to schedule an appointment. South Plaster Heating and Air INC came out to fix the issue, and I couldn't have been happier with their service. The technician was knowledgeable and welcomed me to observe while he fixed the problem, explaining each step of the way.

    This was actually the second time South Plaster came to my house, the first being a couple of years ago for my AC, and both times they did a fantastic job. However, while I find some contractors like South Plaster to be excellent, there are others used by American Home Shield that I believe don't meet the mark and should be replaced.

American Home Shield sent Doctor Cool LLC, and although they promptly diagnosed the problem, the backordered bulb took time. However, the installation process was quick when they returned.

    I have mixed feelings about American Home Shield's services.     My washing machine wasn't draining properly and after I scheduled a service call online, it was completed within 48 hours. It was a reasonable timeframe. The service technician was exceedingly professional and guided me through a simple fix involving lint removal. Even though the problem was resolved effortlessly, I felt the $108 service fee was unjustified since it turned out to be something minor.

    I've been using American Home Shield for several years, and although I initially thought it would be a good investment, I have some reservations. A significant issue for me is the unexpected price increases — I wasn't made aware of these changes in advance, and they hiked my bill without prompt notification. This felt off-putting.

    Further dissatisfaction stems from their coverage inadequacy, particularly when my AC unit needed replacement. Despite my long-term commitment to them, they offered only $1,200 towards a new AC, which barely puts a dent in the actual cost that can soar upwards of $6,000.

    While their service timing and technicians’ professionalism receive high marks, my overall satisfaction with the financial aspect rates poorly. On a personal note, although EJ’s Appliance Repair provided excellent service, the cost structure and communication weaknesses of American Home Shield mean I'd rate their services at just 2 out of 5. If you're single and you're a woman and you don't know how to fix things, then get AHS or get somebody. But to me, they suck.

    I am pleased to see that our technician was able to diagnose the issue with your washer and address it. I understand that you feel that this fix was a 'minor' one, but please note that if you had not had the plan, you would likely still have had to pay a fee for a professional to come to the home and diagnose the service issue. This issue was resolved quickly in part because our technicians do not bill our customers by the hour, and are thus incentivized to complete the repair as quickly and efficiently as possible. Obviously, this would not be the case with a repair person not associated with AHS. If this had NOT been a quick fix, then our tech would have ordered parts or recommended a replacement, and the cost to you of one service fee would not have increased as a result.

    I also understand your frustration with the rising costs. All of our plans are affected by rising costs of parts and services ion the free market. AHS does not increase the plans for our customers lightly; we endeavor to price in a manner which will account for the rising costs of services and parts while still providing our customers with affordable services that are a discount from what they would encounter without a contract.

    Regarding the HVAC cash-in-lieu, the cash-in-lieu that you were offered corresponds with the cost AHS would have paid in 2023 to replace the failing air handler unit and the contractually covered portion of refrigerant. It would also cover the cost AHS would pay in labor for the technicians assigned. AHS has a very large network vendors and suppliers which means that the costs it pays are much lower than those a single homeowner can receive. When you request a cash-in-lieu, you are requesting that pricing so that you can select your own vendor to complete the repair, rather than use the assigned AHS vendor. That is always a customer's right, but the contract clearly points out that AHS will supply the CiL based upon its costs, not the market costs outside of its network.

    Your portion of contractually non-covered costs for this repair was approximately $2800, costs that would have been paid to the vendor as these were for expenses not outlined in your contract.     We've been with American Home Shield for 20 years and our experience has generally been positive, although there are areas for improvement. For example, they recently had someone come out to look at our icemaker. The lever was not working and something needed to be replaced, and it was a bit frustrating to wait quite a while for the part to arrive.     The technician from Yukon who came for the refrigerator that kept getting hot in the freezer was not knowledgeable at all. He didn't check my refrigerator. He just looked at it, laughed, and said there was nothing wrong with it. He didn't know how to check for anything. American Home Shield sent somebody else out in order to get it repaired. The second technician seemed to do the best he could. He took the time to check the appliance and made a report as to what he found.

    Instead of offering to fix or replace it, American Home Shield is sending a third company out today to look at it again. The service has not been good at all, and I'm probably gonna cancel American Home Shield as soon as this appliance is taken care of. They should also check the contractors that they're using. They sent Yukon out here before for my washing machine, but the technician could not fix it at all. They sent another company and they fixed it the same day. American Home Shield shouldn't use Yukon because they don't know how to fix appliances.

    The issue started off with a very high water bill. It was over $300 for a three-bedroom house with two adults and four children. I contacted American Home Shied, and they said that we would be working with Pronto Plumbing. But when Pronto Plumbing came out, they didn't do anything. The guy asked me some questions. I told him different information about the meter at the street and the shut-off in the storage room with the pressure reducer valve then I showed him the toilets. He walked around, looked at the toilets then left. He said it had got to be under the slab and they needed to get leak detection out. The leak detection guy came out, and he was cool. But Pronto Plumbing wanted to charge. The only option they gave us was to cut up the concrete slab. We had to remove all the cabinets and put them back. We also had to refinish the tile floor. That was $5,000 out of pocket so we didn't go with that.

    Additionally, they took forever. They're called Pronto, but they took weeks. Most of those reviews that I saw about them are related to having to go to them through American Home Shield. It would be good if we have the option to pick our plumber and not have to go with them. When you call them, either they don't pick up and don't call you back or they pick up but they're rude. I called them a couple times, trying to figure out what the situation was after leak detection came. A couple of days went by, I called them again, but they didn't answer. I left a message but didn't get a call back. It was a whole week after leak detection came that I called them and they finally answered. They said they were about to call me because their service manager got the report back from leak detection. It was the most convenient excuse and they gave us this astronomical price to fix it.

    I talked to another plumber from Fix the Drip Plumbing and he said it was the worst, most expensive and most inconvenient way to fix it. He gave us an alternate route to where we could fix it by just rerouting the water line through the attic down the wall so we don't have to cut concrete. I ended up fixing it myself, finding where the pipe is, capping it off, then rerouting it back to where the source was. Now it works fine. I got half a month worth of water bill with no leak. It went down to $170 instead of $330. I was able to do it within the cost of the cash payout that I got from American Home Shield for the material.

    The process with American Home Shield was fine as far as getting the claim set up. It was nice that I could, at least, talk to somebody pretty easily. I didn't have to call 10 different times and do a bunch of menus and talk to a robot for a while. But it was at times a little difficult to understand people's accents. There could also be more transparency upfront about a cash out option. That was a last-minute thing when I was talking to American Home Shield. I was telling them the Pronto Plumbing wanted to charge us and we couldn't pay that. All of a sudden, they told me about the cash out option. I wouldn't have even started the process if I had known that from the beginning.

    We have American Home Shield because the seller of the house we bought paid for a year of the home warranty. But I don't plan on renewing next year. We paid for an annual subscription which is $700, and we got paid 300 and something dollars for this specific repair. If I put $650 in the bank, I could have just taken $350 out to pay for this repair. I don't think that it's worth it to renew.

    When I needed help replacing my hot water heater, American Home Shield sent Patel's Plumbing for the job. Initially, I scheduled the request online, which was fairly simple. However, the service left much to be desired. After the initial visit, it took more than two weeks to be without hot water before they managed to repair everything and get the necessary approvals. Communication was also a hassle, as I found myself in limbo waiting for updates, which Patel's assured they would get from American Home Shield but never did.

    Furthermore, there was an issue with the ductwork connected to the hot water heater. Patel simply used aluminum tape to cover some rotted parts, but this temporary fix left me worried about carbon monoxide risk, as it wasn’t a full replacement. I didn't bring the issue to American Home Shield's attention, assuming based on Patel's input that it was my responsibility.

    When I had a problem with a dishwasher, American Home Shield had two companies come out and they checked it. They said it was burnt up and we needed a new one. They put a new one in, but it started doing essentially the same stuff. It would go on and then off. They figured out that there was a problem with the electrical connection. American Home Shield sent out Jim Hubbard Electric, and the service person was extremely nice and good. He took care of the problem in no time and did an excellent job. I appreciate having everything back in working order after over two months of handwashing dishes.

    I was not partial to the first company because they're over in Columbus, Georgia and they only came to Montgomery on Tuesdays. Their people came back four times and each time, that was at least a week in between. Sometimes it was two weeks. That's where over a month of the problem went at first.

    I've trusted American Home Shield for over 30 years across two homes. Overall, my experience with them would be rated a 4. While the electrical service by Jim Hubbard Electric deserved a 5 for their exceptional work, the delay due to the initial service inefficiency warrants an overall rating of 4 out of 5.     We have evidence of a leak on an interior wall on the second floor and also on the first floor adjacent to the chimney, so I reached out to American Home Shield for a claim on the roof.     Alpha Appliance replaced the circuit board twice and they blew something in there. The guy came out the last time to replace the second circuit board that the clock is not working. I tried to tell him that what he did wasn't what the problem was. So, he left. I tried to call him back and I couldn't get him. I had to call back and say, "Okay, the problem that he originally came in to fix, he did not fix." So, they ordered more parts. Then finally, American Home Shield sent the field guy here. He's been out here twice. He did the same thing. He had the same problem. So, he's scheduled to come back in this Friday to try to finally fix the problem.

    Overall, the claims process is real good. I didn't like it at first, but I like it right now because I can call in American Home Shield. The only problem is it's taking a long time. I was surprised that the guy came out here from Alpha Appliance within a couple of days and showed up automatically. When they come here on Friday, I'm hoping that they fix the problem.     There have been both ups and downs regarding the technicians that American Home Shield sends to my home. While sometimes I'm satisfied, on other occasions, the technicians tell me there's nothing wrong, only for problems to persist until I have to call someone else, which becomes frustrating as it costs me extra money each time.

    In particular, there are instances where I do get a good plumber or electrician who really knows their job and fixes the issues promptly, but unfortunately, I'm unable to request the same technician for future visits due to company policies. This lack of consistency can be troubling because I end up paying for multiple visits without resolving the issue immediately.

    Additionally, my experience with some of the policies has been lacking. For instance, my payments continue to rise every year, although the service level does not notably improve. At one time, the procedure for handling service calls meant you'd pay the technician directly upon arrival. The company now charges service fees upfront, directly from my account, sometimes before they even confirm an appointment.

    I’m not sure how American Home Shield screens their contractors. The techs are polite and professional, but I don’t have the technical know-how to explain what’s wrong. I just know it’s not working. One tech explained that AHS only covers basic functions, so if a dryer is noisy but still dries, they won’t fix it. He also pointed out that high-tech appliances often break down in ways we don’t even use, which I’ve found to be true. Overall, once something gets fixed, I’m satisfied. It’s just frustrating when someone comes out and says nothing’s wrong, even when there clearly is an issue.

    What particularly irks me is the arduous process and waiting period when I need quick resolutions, for example, plumbing problems. I handle several units, and if something goes wrong, it impacts many residents. Since I manage multiple residences, with each housing its own appliances, any delay in service is problematic. Every month, I'm paying over $2000, if not more, a month for this maintenance on American Home Shield. That's why I get upset. And then I gotta pay them $100 for the people to come out.

    While dealing with issues can be laborious and repetitive interactions without satisfactory resolutions are troublesome, I keep on with American Home Shield, as exploring other options doesn’t necessarily guarantee better experiences. Plus, my daughters, who also use this service, have similar complaints, yet we cling to what we know, hoping improvement will follow.

    I had an ice maker that was jammed. The tech came out, identified the issue, ended up ordering me another ice maker and replaced it. I've never had an issue with American Home Shield or their representatives. But I had two issues with the other vendors that came out. I had one more issue. One of the providers told me that they don't service refrigerators in the garage. I said, "No, that's incorrect." And he told me AHS wouldn't pay for it. But he was a jerk. He acted like he didn't even wanna be there. I just opened the garage for him and I said, "You can go ahead and leave." That was it. I called them and they said, "That's incorrect. He was wrong." I said, "He's a little on the rude side, but he seemed like he didn't wanna be there." The policy used to be at 70 bucks. Now, that thing is over 100 a month. I would still recommend AHS to a friend.

    My experiences with American Home Shield have not been as satisfactory as I hoped. When a plumbing issue arose, which caused the water to back up in both the toilet and bathtub, I submitted a claim. Although I tend to call and speak with an actual representative rather than using an automated system, I've found that while they initially assure me that things are covered, it often turns out they’re not once the technician arrives.

    For example, we faced a significant issue with our well, initially informed that it was covered by a representative, yet when the technician came out, we discovered the coverage had been declined, leaving us out-of-pocket for a hefty $10,000. Similarly, when dealing with the clogged plumbing, they denied coverage, and we ended up paying over $400 for a plumber to resolve the issue. American Home Shield did not clearly communicate why the coverage was denied each time.

    This experience has led me to reconsider my use of their services, and I've already switched to a competitor before switching back, recognizing there’s little difference between providers. On top of this, they once referred us to a plumber who was no longer in business, which only added to my displeasure.

    When you speak with one of our agents regarding coverage, they communicate the coverage as detailed in the contract. However. they cannot provide an authorization decision at that time. As you have no doubt noticed in your contract, for each system there are a set of failure conditions that are covered, as well as a set of failure conditions that are not covered.

    The technician's on-site diagnosis is needed so that the Authorizer knows exactly what the circumstances of the failure are; it is this complete picture that determines the extent of coverage for any repair or replacement. If you receive a complete denial of coverage, you may always request a second opinion diagnosis. This is performed by a different vendor so as to give AHS the clearest possible information regarding the nature of the failure. If the second vendor determines that the first diagnosis was in error, AHS will adjust the authorization decision accordingly and will assign the second vendor to complete any authorized repairs.

    If I could possibly give a negative star rating of American Home Shield, I would. I said I would never go back to this company however Coldwell Banker used them and I paid for the plan at the closing of my new home. Please do not spend your money with this company without researching all available options in your area.

    #1. The contract states a rekey of up to 6 locks is covered after the "copay". It took several days for AHS to get back to me and after a 10 day waiting period for the appointment, the contractor cancelled at the appointment time and did not plan to offer future appointments. AHS could not find another vendor to do the work. I live in a well-populated area and many locksmiths are within the area. I hired a local reputable and licensed company and personally paid for the work.

    #2. The spring on my garage door broke. I placed a request and the vendor cannot come out for two weeks. I spoke with AHS and they assigned another vendor only to find out that the vendor quit working with AHS over a year ago and has not accepted work orders but keeps receiving them. I called AHS again and they initially denied knowing this information then admitted that it was correct. Again, I am waiting for contact from dispatch if they find a vendor. Please, do yourself a favor and do not choose American Home Shield as your warranty company without checking reputable companies with a good vendor list in your area. Do your research and check reviews. I am going to cancel my contract and consider it an expensive and unfortunate lesson once again with American Home Shield. From my past and now current experiences, they have not changed their business practices.

    AHS seemed to offer comprehensive coverage for home appliances. However, my experience with a hot water heater claim left me quite dissatisfied.     American Home Shield does a poor job with coverage. On A/C claim, their first contractor was no contact, no show. Second contractor failed to diagnose and correctly repair unit. The repair lasted less than 7 days. American Home Shield did not warrant the failed repair work and instead offered me the option to Pay $1500 in repairs or buy a new A/C unit for $3500-$5000, depending on the unit selected. They also offered $366 as cash-in-lieu of repair. None of those options made any sense to me in light of the $1800 I paid in premiums or service call fees. Still hoping for a suitable resolution. They are not very responsive. Perhaps my State Attorney General's office will be able to look into their denial in coverages.

They indicated a fix was impossible when it really wasn’t. Next time the unit wasn't working, a tech came and said it was just a gas valve issue.     When A+ Maintenance came to service the appliances in the home I've recently moved into due to an inheritance, their service was extremely frustrating. They inaccurately reported that nobody lived in the house because of some outdated food they claimed to have found, leading to a denial of my claim by American Home Shield. The very idea that no occupants were in the house was incorrect, especially since I'm still organizing the space and clearing out leftover belongings.

    Trying to resolve this issue with American Home Shield was equally disappointing. Despite attempts to reach out for a resolution or potential refund, I received minimal assistance. They said they couldn't give me a refund. I tried to get ahold of the supervisor but I got the runaround. My policy, which I had initially kept stable through multiple residences, was ultimately canceled when it became clear their service fell short of expectations.     Additionally, another aspect to address is the service fee structure.     Initially, American Home Shield's monthly fee was reasonable, but over the years, it has increased from $79 to $87 without warning or proper notification. The biggest challenges began when my air conditioning unit broke down during extreme heat. The service to fix it was inadequate as the Freon leaked out due to improper sealing, leaving me without cool air for weeks. In the sweltering heat, I resorted to sleeping with frozen water bottles to cope.

    To make matters worse, when American Home Shield eventually replaced the unit, it was the wrong type. The language barrier with the technicians complicated communication further. I ended up paying $3,000 for a so-called modification fee without replacing the outdoor unit, which still has issues with screws coming loose, which means my Freon is leaking out. And if I call AHS, they want me to pay another $100. I feel misled and scammed by these enormous fees, particularly while dealing with health issues. Although they did assist with minor issues like my washing machine and garbage disposal, those instances were overshadowed by the HVAC nightmare.

    Something went out in one of my wall units, where you plug stuff in, but all the technicians did was go to the breaker box and hit a switch, but they never actually fixed what was wrong. They charged me $100 plus my monthly fee for them just to come out and do that. I keep getting ripped off and I want to cancel AHS and find somebody else.

    The guys that came and put the modification in the air conditioning unit were supposed to come in the morning. They didn't show up until 4:35 and did not leave my house until 9:30. One of the gentlemen decided he needed to use my bathroom and stunk my whole house. He didn't even turn the fan on. Then I found out that if I call AHS, I can call somebody that I want to do the work on my house. I don't have to use the people that they recommend. They didn't tell me that because they have their little people that they use.

    Being able to choose my own servicing contractors has led to slightly better service experiences but the damage has been done. I've been overcharged time and again with promises of maintenance that never come through. It's disheartening, especially as a 73-year-old holding onto my independence in my own home. Disillusioned and wary of their increasing fees, I'm hesitant to continue but unsure of my alternatives. My experience has left me feeling exhausted and wary of further engaging with similar services. Despite filing complaints, there’s been no tangible improvement. Tragically, throughout this ordeal, the support and service I received led me to feel that as a consumer, my well-being and financial stability were not prioritized.

    I've been with American Home Shield for about three years now because of their good price. But I've noticed that prices tend to increase significantly when their services are utilized. I was a bit shocked at some high price increases over time like when paying approximately $69 to $1 more quickly — they should notify customers better if increases like that will happen.     Initially, I had American Home Shield send out a technician from a company called Emergency Plumbing and Routing, not for an emergency but for ongoing plumbing matters. They were supposed to check on several items around my home.

    Firstly, we faced an issue with our clothes washer. Water was backing up, leading us to suspect a blockage. The technician noted our P-trap was incorrectly placed below the clean out and, considering our old pipes, suggested not to alter it, and I said, "Fine" as we will have future re-piping planned.

    There was also a toilet issue. My husband suspected it needed a wax ring replacement due to a leak, but the technician disagreed, tightened only one screw, leaving the tank slightly crooked.

    In one of our bathrooms upstairs, a drain was leaking. The technician replaced the drain mechanism with a rather conspicuous oversized black plastic part, clashing with existing chrome pipes. Despite reporting this aesthetic issue to the company, their response was that function was prioritized over appearance. It was a big disappointment as now, through a clean pedestal sink, this unsightly piece was clearly visible.

    Lastly, a faucet handle was loose, which the technician managed to fix perfectly.

    In a separate past incident, I had a claim about a dishwasher with American Home Shield. Its detergent hatch couldn't close and the control panel was battered. They dismissed it as physical damage. When I investigated replacing parts myself, I realized the appliance was 24 years old. In fairness, the dishwasher still functions okay today.

    They have done nothing but take our premiums and service fees. They wouldn’t even replace a $20 part for the microwave and instead the technician “cleaned” the old part and two weeks later sparks flew again. We bought the $20 part ourselves on Amazon and no problem since but paid $125 for the first service call. Next was the dishwasher. Said it was fixed and put back and was going to leave and I asked why water was still leaking from the bottom. Oh I didn’t mop it up sorry. Mops it up. Still leaking and he had to open it all up again and suddenly found a broken part. Wow. Now my oven door shattered after I used the broiler. All I did was open the door and turned around to grab something and I heard a pop like a rock hitting your windshield. I looked back and the door was completely cracked.

    AHS sent someone out who said he’d try to get them to cover it. Nope - they said it was user error and something dropped on it. Uh no! We called and complained and they sent another company out. The guy ordered a new oven door but AHS denied it again. So now we are out the service fees and the door is still cracked. We could have just replaced the door ourselves. Silly us to think our insurance coverage would cover repairs. Canceling and never ever doing business with them again. Better to put the premium money into your own emergency fund instead.

    I wanted to ensure my air conditioners were functioning properly. I made a claim with American Home Shield and they assigned Same Day Air Repair to come out. I researched about them online and I was a bit apprehensive due to some of the poor ratings on Google. However, upon direct communication with their rep, Simon, they reassured me with recent positive feedback which made me feel more comfortable proceeding. The arrangement for service was done over the phone, as I find it easier to resolve any uncertainties directly. The techs who came out were nice and professional. As long as my air conditioners were good, I was happy with them.

    Over the course of my long relationship with American Home Shield, spanning approximately 25 years, I've had my fair share of ups and downs. Right now, I would describe my satisfaction level as improving and would tentatively lean towards recommending them, giving them a solid score. The representatives I interacted with were courteous and professional. However, I did encounter challenges in communication due to their accents and the fast pace at which they spoke. I often find myself asking them to slow down to better understand the conversation. Despite these minor hurdles, the staff aims to be as helpful as possible.

    I encountered significant delays when I made a claim with American Home Shield for my water heater that broke down. Despite the urgency, online ticket submissions didn't allow me to mark the issue as an emergency, leading to a frustrating two-week wait without hot water. When I experienced a water leak, it took over a week for a response, leaving me without water in my home during that period.

    With these repeated issues, I now only contact them by phone to express the urgency directly, as online submissions fail to capture the immediacy required. Recently, I had a claim for my washing machine thing which had gone down in a pretty reasonable time. It took about a week and it wasn't as big a deal because I just had to go down to the laundromat to do my laundry. So far, the quality of work when my claims are finally resolved has been generally satisfactory, except for an unfortunate experience with a plumber who further complicated the repair. He came in and broke the water line when he was trying to fix it. Then he had to fix that and he left a huge mess. One area where American Home Shield does okay is pricing, which I find competitive. Overall, dealing with them has been challenging, and I struggle to recommend American Home Shield given these experiences.

    My air conditioning unit was only operating on emergency heat and not on the heat pump. I reached out to American Home Shield online and they responded within about 24 hours. Then, when Efficient Air Systems arrived, they identified the issue was with the control board. Unfortunately, they had to order parts, so it wasn’t fixed on the same day. American Home Shield covered the parts and labor for the repair but not the refrigerant gas, since my AC unit is quite old. During the process, there was some confusion regarding the need for extra gas, which I later clarified wasn't necessary as the technician found everything was in spec and therefore skipped that step.

    Despite this hiccup, I consider American Home Shield a good value with some limitations. They offer cost savings in many instances, but it's essential to understand what exactly is covered. If someone were to ask me, I'd advise them about these potential pitfalls but reassure them about the value and efficiency overall. As an aside, I give their online service a favorable rating due to its intuitive setup and ease of navigation, which made managing my service requests straightforward without needing to make additional calls. Overall, given the pricing and ease of use, I find their service to be a solid option for home warranty coverage.

    I had been a loyal customer of American Home Shield for over 12 years. However, a recent experience drastically shifted my perspective. Despite paying for the service consistently, I encountered significant hurdles when I truly needed their assistance. In January, I found myself unable to resolve an electrical outage that disrupted my home. I contacted American Home Shield, and they dispatched an electrician. This technician arrived late, assessed the situation, and promised a follow-up visit to get a proper diagnosis. Unfortunately, he scheduled a return visit on a day I had not selected and arrived late once more, only to provide unsatisfactory assistance. The process repeated, with American Home Shield arranging another visit with him, during which he failed to show up entirely.

    With every missed appointment, my frustration grew. I repeatedly asked for a different contractor, but continued to receive runarounds as American Home Shield insisted they couldn't send someone else until the first technician provided their paperwork—a task delayed by alleged equipment malfunctions on the contractor's part. Eventually, after three months of darkness and back-and-forth communication, they sent a second contractor who proposed rewiring my home—an extensive and seemingly unnecessary task, especially given my previous experiences. With dissatisfaction mounting, I ended this frustrating chapter with American Home Shield by analyzing if experts outside their network could get to the root of the issue.

    By personally hiring an external electrician for $225, a problem that persisted for three months was, ironically, resolved in less than a day. With a mere wire reconnection—all that was truly needed—I had power back, contrary to the diagnosis I was led to believe rendered my home's electric system helpless. This process, coupled with ongoing service fees during the disruption, became a costly ordeal amounting to nearly $500.

    This incident lit a bulb to cancel their services entirely, yet wouldn’t shadow a glimmer of positive past ones like when clogged bathtubs were resolved. Disappointingly though, this drawn-out scenario has truly skewed my overall trust in their reliability. Looking back, it feels as if my loyalty was cast aside when facing a genuine crisis. For potential customers considering American Home Shield, I would caution them regarding whom such services send their way and preparedness for possibly lengthy wait times for resolutions.
