Submitting requests is easy. I emailed them today and I'm waiting for a reply. I asked them if I could take a different offer, if I could change the oven that I picked out. The front glass on the door fell out and shattered, and they couldn’t find a part, so they're replacing the unit. All in all, American Home Shield did a good job.

I started the claim in January and one company had come out and said that they were gonna order the part that they needed, but they never did. They had sent me emails that they would be back and they had left voice messages. I was communicating with them over a period of about five months and it was getting obnoxious. I finally gave them a warning. I told them that if they can't get back to me within a day or two, then I'm going to return to American Home Shield and file a complaint, and I did.
It took me several tries to finally get American Home Shield to agree to send me out a new tech company to address the problem without having to pay the service fee again, which I did find a principle, I wouldn’t pay, and they finally did. So it all got resolved in the end. It was not an easy process for me. I joined as a real estate agent and I referred them many, many times to all those customers, and I felt that that was such a negative experience for me.
ANC Pool was great. They were pleasant. They had to order a part and they did. They were back within a week and got it up and running. They were on time. They did the job to my satisfaction. Everything was fine. But I did have one issue. American Home Shield promised that when they scheduled them to come out that I would not receive a service charge. I did receive an invoice for a bill for that to which I called back and waited an hour and a half to speak to someone. They finally took another hour and a half of putting me on hold and checking and checking and checking. So it literally was almost three hours of my time to avoid the $75 charge, which they claimed that they waived.
All in all, my experience with ANC Pool was good. My experience with the previous company they sent me was bad. And my experience with American Home Shield's customer service was awful. I asked several times during this process to speak to a supervisor who could authorize a return visit because they were saying it was past 30 days, and therefore, the case was closed. I told them, “No, it wasn’t that because the pool company that they had sent me was saying that the part wasn’t available. They would pick it up. They would come back on this date, on that date, and they were the ones in writing and over the phone who said that they were dragging this out over several months. So, as far as I was concerned, it never was a closed case.”
Trying to talk to some of the agents on American Home Shield was frustrating beyond belief getting someone who could actually understand what I was saying and sympathize with what I was saying, and agree that it should be overlooked that it was more than 30 days for a callback. I eventually was successful but not without hours of effort on my part and frustration. This experience was awful but every other claim I've had with American Home Shield had been pleasant or reasonable. So this one particular case seemed to be something that their agents on the telephone couldn’t handle properly and refused to give me a supervisor who could after several calls.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

My last appliance claim with American Home Shield for a microwave issue went very well. Sears came to do service and the techs from there were very polite. The first day they came, one young man came alone. He was at our place for an hour as he had to take the microwave apart and put it back. The second time Sears came, there were two techs and the previous tech sounded like he was training the other young man who came with him. They took the microwave apart again, put in the new part and took the old one out. They were very conscious of my husband who is ill. They wore their masks and maintained social distancing. Each time, the job was done as quickly as they could do it.

The Watertight Pool guy adjusted a leak I had, but he was pretty new. I don't have any problems with a new person, but when he looked at the issue and I was trying to explain it, it didn't seem like it was getting through. I left it at that and I don't know if the issue was really addressed or not. I've called my own personal guys out sometimes and I may do that just to make sure.
I purchased the house about two and a half years ago. I knew that it was at that age where there possibly could be some things going on, which was why I renewed. A few years ago, before I had the coverage, I paid for something and thought, "Well, shoot." I had a friend in Waco and she had AHS. She has had a little more success. My impression is that I'm okay with AHS. I've kinda figured out what it is. Everything is gonna wear out over time and I'm getting the impression that we fix it if we can, but if we can't, then it'll be replaced. There are some exclusions that are very unfortunate to me, but it is what it is.
I like how quick and easy it is to file a claim. They have contracts with all different vendors. You can't just have anybody that's gonna do the work and I like that. Initially, when I filed a claim and I was given some options. I don't remember that happening on my last claim so it may be specific to the kind of evaluation I requested. I put in pump, but it was really my in-ground floor suction system. That may have limited my ability to choose from a couple of vendors. Also, when the rep called, she said that she wasn't sure if it was covered, but they'd come out and look. I told her that it was really not the pump that I'm wondering about, it was something else. I work in insurance, so I don't get as startled as some others. But if I hadn't been 27 years in insurance, it probably would have concerned me.

We had them for a whole year when we bought the house and then I canceled it for a little while after that. But I realized that I was better off with them than without them. I went back and signed back up. This is our second year and when I had a claim, everything with Lancaster Plumbing was great. We have a little closet and when you open the door, it's up off the ground and the unit is inside this closet. Underneath the closet is the air filter that you change your filter out on and when you pull that down to change out the filter, there's a big opening behind that. It's big enough for three people to fit into. That was leaking.
So I had Lancaster come out. The runoff pipe that goes outside ended up being clogged. They replaced a pipe for me, unclogged it and put some bleach down there. They told me to pour a cup of bleach down there every couple of months to keep it from clogging up. It was a father-and-son team that came out and they were nice to talk to. They were very professional and polite. They did their job and told me that if anything happened or if they needed to come back out, to let them know.

USA Plumbing came and checked my water heater. The contractor gave a courtesy call before he showed up and asked us if any of us were sick or had symptoms. He was very courteous with keeping his distance too. He did a very good job and did everything exactly the way I did figure he was gonna do. He came in and had his mask and gloves. He identified himself with the company he works for. At the same time, he came up and asked us about the problem of the water heater. I live in a condo and said that seven condos had already water heater damages. I wanted him to thoroughly check everything by himself to see if everything was okay with our water heater before it goes down. He was very thorough, awesome, and professional all the way. I like him and I'd give him a big thumbs up.

The air conditioner line was frozen, and we weren't getting air. I called American Home Shield and asked for a service call. There was communication provided to let me know when to expect Airmax Inc. then a guy came out and he was fine. As a matter of fact, I requested him when I needed a second call, a re-call. The service was good and it has definitely improved the day to day quality within the home because it's cooler now.

The contractor who came for my AC unit was knowledgeable enough to fix the AC and didn't fix it long, which was good. Although he came at the very end of the window, it was no big deal. AHS is solid. Every time I've called them for anything, they have been smooth, so I decide to renew it. Plus, a warranty is a good option.

I like to speak with people so I usually try to call Home Shield whenever I submit claims. It's usually pretty easy. At that time when my dishwasher was leaking, the rep was really great. 2 Bald Guys came out to fix it for me and the tech was really helpful, too. I got two more people signed up with Home Shield within the last four months because of our experience with them. I've been sharing it with others. Home Shield is really useful.

My system is cooling now but my concern is that this is the same call that I did at the latter part of last year and they just tacked the area rather than truly repaired or replaced. That is concerning for me because I've had this home warranty for quite a while and I seldom use it. I pay a good amount too. Then you also have to pay a trade fee for each and every little thing. I talked to American Home Shield and that’s how I even managed to get the person back out again. But they wanted to charge another charge. The issue wasn't ever resolved from last year though, and I knew that even more fully when the first person came out.
Also, the person did whatever he did and I was sitting in the house, waiting and thinking he was gonna call me to say he was about to come in and talk to me about what went on. I did get a call but he was already gone and rather than talk to me, he told me that it was a wire that was unhooked. But that was the same wire that was unhooked last year. Why didn't they repair? I’m imagining that he took the wires and attached them again to each other rather than putting a wire that’s truly covered with the kind of covering a wire should have. I’ve been a little beside myself about that. I've had air conditioning problems before and had a service person come. And the service person usually does a more thorough job in diagnosis rather than just go right outside and see whatever. They usually are supposed to start on the inside. They go up into the attic and look at the thermostats to make sure that it's cooling in the house.
American Home Shield also actually sent a different contractor out from the one that came last year. So there ended up having to be two technicians from the second contractor. The first contractor did like the last contractor. He did it quickly and he left before coming in and talking to me about what was going on. I also didn't like that American Home Shield attempted to have me tell them what was wrong. I have two units that comprise my system that heat and cool zones in my house and what they tried to do was get me to diagnose if it's the left side or the right side so that they don't have any liability if the left side goes out. But if the system is not balanced, it’s going to trip up the other one eventually anyway. So my air conditioning is not working properly. I understand giving them an idea of what my issue is but they want me to be very narrow so they can be very narrow and then charge me a service fee again.
I can tell a difference in the level of service they're trying to provide for their warranty holders. They used to be thorough in what they send the people out to do. Now, they're limiting the people so much. American Home Shield is being very much a stickler with contractors about what they're allowed to do. They're wanting contractors to do piece-work rather than truly replace the component if that's what needs to be done. As a holder, I'm paying a premium every month. The warranty should cover if my system has a major problem and they have to replace some things. If they're going to be that chintzy about a wire, what if I have issues with the internal parts? In fact, I did have an issue the first year that I had it and there was a fair diagnosis. American Home Shield replaced a compressor. As opposed to a compressor, this time, the issue is a wire outside and they're gonna be chintzy about it? It's not a large part that's very expensive.
I also had a plumbing issue and I stayed on the phone over two hours. When I initially called, it was about to be 6:00 and it was during the shelter in place so I understand that the service providers and maybe some of their call center people were out or they may have been working from home. But those two hours weren't straight two hours. That was being on the line for about 45 minutes, waiting for someone to pick up and come on, and then being dropped. I could even tell that I was shifted to an after-hours center and it sounded as if that was a very remote call center, maybe in the Pacific countries. So the second time that I got someone, the call held on until it was going to shift to that call area so I held on again and eventually got someone.
I told them my issue then we got disconnected. I had explained at length what was going on but rather than them equipping their people to call their holder back, I had to get on the queue again and sit for a very long time to get someone. They even had my telephone number. So I’d already been in the queue twice for a very long time. Then I had to explain my situation all over again to another individual. I asked for a manager supervisor to resolve my issue because it seemed that the first or the second agent was not empowered to check it any further. The issue was my plumbing and I didn’t have a way to bathe or use the bathroom, and this was right in the midst of COVID so it was very important.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

The contractor came in and found the problem, which was a switch. He had the part in his truck. He was in and out in less than 30 minutes and my washing machine was working great. I've had AHS for 28 years and they've done a lot for me. When we purchased this house, the people who were here before gave us AHS as part of the deal and we kept it. I've used it several times and everything we've ever asked them to do, they've done. They fixed heaters and water heaters. They've also replaced the piping in my wall. However, it sometimes takes a little while longer than I like. Sometimes, scheduling isn't always easy because I work and being home sometimes waiting for somebody to be here is a pain. Other than that, things have worked out really well.

AHS's claims process was a piece of cake and I was pleasantly surprised. I filed the claim at midday and got a text update not too long after that. Then within a couple of hours, I got a notification of the company that would be contacting me and they came the very next morning. The techs were right on time. There’s a copper line that goes from the inside unit to the outside unit. A crack had formed on the top of it and there was oil dripping on the inside unit. I covered with them what the feedback was and they took a look at it. They were quick and got it fixed. Our units were actually in the garage. The techs came in for us to explain the issue and to sign the final paper when they were done. It was a seamless experience. We've had AHS for two years and this was the first time we've used it. I was a little bit surprised at how quickly everything got done. The fact that it was all taken care of in less than 24 hours was impressive.

Even though I’m retired, it’s annoying being on the phone with American Home Shield for an hour until someone picks up, listening to the same music and every few minutes it comes back and says, “We appreciate your loyalty. All our associates are busy, we will be with you as soon as possible.” When I call American Airlines and they’re really busy, they would give you a timeframe if you want them to give you a callback. I don’t have to sit with the phone waiting for someone to call me. But when I submitted a claim online to AHS for the dishwasher, I was able to get through the website easily. I was told to expect the contractor between 11:00 to 2:30 and he was here at around 1:00. The contractor was very good and I have no complaints at all.
The door couldn’t stand and there was a cord that holds it with this plastic piece on it. We’ve had the door fixed three times but this was the first time that he gave me the piece and showed it to me, and how it broke. He replaced that piece and now it works. He left the part, we could see what was wrong and explained how it goes out periodically. The design by the manufacturer of the trade was poor. We’ve had that dishwasher for about 15 years and every five years, this nylon cable snaps. We can still use the dishwasher, but the door just hangs down and you have to lift it up and close it. The door is heavy when you don’t have that rope thing and I have back problems.
We also had two attic fans in our house for 20 years and they stopped working. The motors wore out, so AHS sent out an electrician and the first call was that it wasn’t normal wear and tear because they weren’t hardwired into my circuit breaker box. There was an issue when the company put them in. So the guy came out and he recommended that we put in a separate circuit breaker into the attic just to service the attic fans, and we did. Then, he put in a box in and he plugged the two fans into to an outlet. AHS was denying it because it wasn’t hardwired. I know something about electricity and a friend who is an electrical engineer said that’s baloney. They’re a separate circuit and it’s on the same power.
It looked like AHS was trying to get away from having to pay for it. They sent out a courtesy second opinion and I said that the fans should be covered. The decision was not to replace the fans but just the motor. AHS was gonna make me an offer. I looked at Home Depot and those fans were only $98 a piece for the power level I needed. It took them longer to change the motors than to put a whole new fan in the attic. So this experience has really bothered me because we’ve been a client for over 32 years with one gap year because we sold the house and we hadn’t bought the current house and yet, they were nickel-and-diming me over two inexpensive attic fans.
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The water went through the condenser and it had gathered in the tray under the water heater. I went through online at Home Shield and I put in a request. Immediately, within a couple of minutes, I got a call. They gave me a reference number and I called United Air Temp because the alarm was going out and it was driving me nuts. All they did was empty that water and clean the hose. They were pretty good but they should have told me that water was actually coming from the air conditioner, not from the water heater.
The next time again, the condenser had frozen. I called Home Shield and they referred me to Quality Experts and they came through. The guy checked and said that it was frozen that was why the AC was not working. They asked me to turn off the main switch from the outside and turn the air condition on with just the air, and it just sort of de-iced the ice. The guy put in four gallons of gas. He told me that because my system was very old, he asked me if I wanted to change it, and I did. Now, they’re installing the new system. They were excellent.

We just bought a house and we got Home Shield because it was a new house and we figured to have it to work out the kinks. The service has been good but we had a pool heater that went and we kinda got screwed around. We had someone and they didn't wanna pay that person to do the repair, so they told me they had somebody else. It took two to three months when I thought it was gonna take two weeks. That was a little frustrating. But when it's all said and done, it was rectified. They replaced the pool heater although Home Shield only replaced it up to a certain amount of money and I still had to pay on top of it. Also, I've had Air & Water Solutions here more than once and they were really good. They came out recently because we had one unit stopped working. It was a blown circuit and the tech fixed it. We've been with American Home Shield for at least 18 years but we're getting ready to drop it. I've always been satisfied with them but right now, I'm very dissatisfied. We called Loyal Home Services to come out because our AC was not cooling. My wife submitted the claim online at 6:00 and about 9 o’clock the technician called and asked what the problem was and said that he was coming the next day. It was the most responsive service we've ever had from American Home Shield. The technician was excellent. He said that American Home Shield was only gonna pay $300 of the issue. We'd be out $1,100. Since it was gonna be $1,100 and it was on a hodgepodge work that had been done prior by American Home Shield service people that we decided just to scrap the whole thing and just get a brand-new unit and put it in.
We put in another call because our dishwasher went down and the appliance repair company took two days to get here. They came in and they said that the motherboard was bad and it was not available so somebody would contact me within three days. But nobody contacted me and we were just without a dishwasher for a week. I called American Home Shield and I made three calls where I spent 35 minutes on hold and never ever spoke to somebody. Of course, I was told that due to COVID they were experiencing longer calls. I don't care. I was aggravated. Nobody from American Home Shield has ever called me.
I called the appliance people because it had been a whole week. I wanted to know what they would do. I finally got ahold of the appliance people who were very rude. Nobody called and I didn't know what was going on. Their rep said that they found the part. So I asked when would they come out to put it in. She said that it was gonna be seven to ten days. That was unacceptable since it had already been a week. Then she asked me what I wanted her to do and said that they didn't manufacture the parts. We kept going back and forth and I realized that it was just one of AHS' vendors. So, finally, I said, “Okay, ma’am. It is what it is. Thank you.” We hung up. I then got a voicemail from her saying, “Oh, well, the part is gonna be in this Friday, so we'll schedule you for next Monday. Call me back.” So, I called them back. Now we have an appointment for this coming Monday.

I dealt with another company when I purchase my home, but they weren't offering what I wanted. When my contract was about to expire, they went up. A friend recommended me to AHS and they offered more stuff than the other company did. AHS's website was good but when I put a claim in for my dishwasher, they must have thought I said washer. A company called and asked what problems I had with my washer. I said that it wasn't my washer and that it was my dishwasher. I had to hang up on them and call back. They told me to do another claim over the phone, which was what I did. AHS wound up charging me $100 twice, but they reimbursed me for the first one. Other than that, the service was great and I was told to expect the contractor within 24 hours.
The contractor came to do my dishwasher, which was making a noise. It also had a bad smell to it because I had unhooked it. He was very friendly. When he came, he plugged it back up and checked to make sure it wasn't leaking. He ordered the parts for it, came back last week, and put the pasts in. He also told me what I needed to do to deal with the smell. I did the vinegar but it didn't work, so just bought some cleaner and put it in the dishwasher. I noticed that he left a screw loose. I don’t know where the screw came from but the dishwasher is still working. All in all, I loved the experience.

When I had a claim for my microwave before, I was very unhappy with the company. At the time, I was going back and forth to work so I relied on my microwave quite a bit because I didn't come home and cook. I just brought food home and heat it up. So when it went out, I thought they would get somebody out here to fix it right away. The microwave was about 16 years old and when that company came out, they took a look at it but they couldn't find the part. So the tech said he had to wait on American Home Shield to okay anything before he could do anything. But that didn’t make sense to me.
I called back complaining to customer service and she said, “I’m sorry. That’s just the way it is.” She ended up hanging up on me in the midst of my speaking to her. So I called back and said that I was a little upset because my microwave wasn't working and asked her why would she hang up on me? She hung up on me again. When I called back, she wouldn’t pick up the phone, so I used my husband’s phone, called back, then she picked up. When she found out it was me, she hung up again. I told her that I wanna speak to her manager and I wanna know what her name was. But I didn't get any satisfaction. So I told the people at American Home Shield I don’t wanna deal with that company. I told them that if they ever sent that company back out to me again, I would drop them. They said they would put that in our records. So it was a very bad experience.
I’ve never had a company that was that insensitive. They’re gonna get irate customers but I didn't use any profanity. I didn't scream and holler. I was just very firm in speaking with her as to my dissatisfaction on them. It took them over a week to fix my microwave. American Home Shield said they were gonna call those people and get them to come back right away, but that didn't happen. I had to go out and buy a small microwave. So it left a very bad taste in my mouth.
I also had a plumbing claim for my osmosis. When the guy came out here, he fixed the faucet that comes from the sink. However, it wasn’t flushed to the base so every time I turned on this osmosis, it would come away from the base and the entire thing would move over. So it wasn’t fixed well at all. Also, American Home Shield stopped covering the water softener. I chose not to take out the warranty from the store because I thought it was under my warranty, but only to find out it’s not. I was very upset because mine is broken and I’m gonna have to come out of pocket because they chose to not cover that. But other than those things, I haven’t had to call too much, which is a good thing because it’s $100 a pop every time you call. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield.

I mainly had a clogged pipe issue that led to a leak. I went online and submitted a claim. It was great. I was told a contractor would come within two business days. And then, when High Priority came, great service. The tech was actually finished quicker than I thought he would. The bathroom upstairs is just fine. My showerhead still drips after you turn the water off, which I've submitted another claim for the contractor to come out and look at which the service provider had already forewarned me that he was able to clean everything out but he already made provisions to order the necessary parts in the event it started dripping like that again after we turn the water off. I appreciated that he made me aware that it was still likely that it could start dripping again and he took the necessary photos and made the necessary notes in the event I called back.

Certified Comfort Heating & Air was excellent. I loved the experience. In fact, I requested Comfort because they always do a good job on our air conditioning and heating. But sometimes, I get an operator that I disagree with. I said that I'd like to have Comfort because I like the way they work. But what's happening is that sometimes, Comfort is not in line for the next call. They say they can't do it, that they have to send someone from Concord, which is 35 miles away, or from Sacramento, which is 40 miles away. That's ridiculous when Comfort is right around the corner. If something is not fixed right or if they get the part, they can come the next day instead of going back to Sacramento and saying it will be three to five days before they come back because they're from Sacramento.
I said maybe we would move on to Frontier home warranty. I pointed out that we pay $600 a month and then we call once or twice a year. When we call, they should make the customer happy and give us the company that we want especially if they're under American Home Shield. Also, I don't like doing stuff online. I'd rather talk to someone personally. I don't even know if I can request online to have Comfort come out. That's why I'd rather speak to someone personally. But the other day, to get someone to talk to in a line, I had to wait 55 minutes. We had a dryer fixed last month and the contractor was out of Vacaville. I had to request for a contractor again and I was on the phone for about 35 minutes.
American Home Shield shouldn't keep a customer on the line for an hour. If they're not going to crack the line in 15 minutes, they should just ask the customer to leave their number and say that they will call as soon as there is an availability to return the call. Then I could put my phone on alert and do what I need to do, then they could call me half an hour later. At least I'm not having the phone to my ear or phone on speaker and taking a nap, watching the news or reading a newspaper and waiting for American Home Shield to get on the line. I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years and I wanna hang on to anything for 20-plus years but it's getting worse as far as putting customers on hold. It's also getting worse as far as a customer asking for a certain contractor to work on their repair. I'm satisfied but there is room for improvement.

I had my daughter put in a claim for the AC unit because when I was sitting out in the backyard it made a funny sound. It doesn’t do it all the time, and I told her maybe we should have it checked. I got a call right away and the time for the repair was set up. The contractor came right away and explained everything. He said it was just getting old. He also explained to me how our home warranty will work if it goes completely out versus if we just replaced it, because that’s why we have home warranty. He was mostly outside so he did fine with COVID precautions. Any time we had someone come through AHS they’ve always been very good and very prompt.

I’ve promoted AHS several times, and other people have actually added them to their homes. I’ve been with them for a good 18 years. Before I got married, I had a pier and beam house. At that point, I was single, and I didn’t have a lot of money other than my own income, and a little bit of student debt. Their charge back then was 25 bucks for anybody that came. When I was at the house, they fully repaired and replaced an air conditioner. I was paying 25 bucks a month and it paid itself off every year. Then their prices started increasing, but not too much. They’re just 69 a month so it’s not breaking the bank. Now, I’m more established. I got my degree and a little debt, so the price doesn’t hurt me. The only thing that I have seen within the few years being now in a new house is that the fees are $75 now for a contractor to come in and work, but they’ve eliminated some of the stuff that they used to do.
If you have a leak, it has to be this particular leak. If a plumber comes in, they can only go so deep into the line inside the house. So I'm like, “How do I know how deep the line’s gonna be to my toilet from the outside of it?” That stuff I don’t know, but if the plumber comes, I still get charged $75 regardless if they could do anything or not.
Next Generation’s service was good, though. The tech came on time. Nothing could be done because, apparently, what they needed to do was give me more Freon, and American Home Shield didn’t supply it. The other option was I pay for it. It was just too much to pay, so I was like, “Never mind. I’ll have to think of something else.” But I watched the tech. He parked on my drive, which is not typical. Most service people will park on the road and then walk up. He checked the outside. I went outside to see what he was doing and I could see him actually testing. He had his little tools out.
It’s a bummer AHS didn’t cover my Freon. But could they give me something else in relation to it, like a discount with Next Gen, or different options? That would have been better because I wouldn’t have had to pay that full price for that Freon that the tech was saying, “I could get some today. We still have some.” But I was really impressed that he didn’t just try to sell a unit. A lot of them will try to sell, “Here’s all this information. It costs $5,000 for a new unit,” That’s why I have this insurance for a little while. I can’t say that Next Generation were 100% on the mark, though. Communication was a little off. But for the most part, they were okay. They told me what I probably thought that was gonna happen. The tech was also fully suited in reference to COVID and I was happy that he did that.
They were pretty safe, and so was David’s company. He has been my appliance guy, and they are super. Theirs is a family-owned business and David is the owner. AHS gets family-owned businesses and that’s cool, too. They're giving back to the community. David was just amazing. I had a lot of work done in the last couple of weeks. This guy has fixed my washer and dryer, refrigerator, oven, and microwave.
This last time, his brother-in-law came down ‘cause he’s with the family business as well. He took apart the door oven. The only thing that was broken was the handle to open the oven, and that’s just been a constant with this unit that I’ve had just ‘cause they put the cheapest units in our houses now. All my mom was gonna do was just clean the surface of it. But he took it all apart and gave her the actual glass to clean it while he fixed my refrigerator. He put it all back in. I was like, “How do you do that? How can you have so much patience to pull that glass out?” There were two panes within a pane, and I’m like, “That’s amazing. I wouldn’t have known how to put it together.”
He goes, “I knew I had time to do the refrigerator while I was doing this. So, it’s no problem at all. I’ll get it all.” With that business right there, I’m pretty sure he’s asked to come everywhere. But in between, they teach you. He taught me how to put the hinge in if I wanna take it out to clean it again, or even the surface of it, or clean the inside. He said, “You can take it out really easily, set it aside, and clean the oven.” I’m like, “That’s what I love. Give me a real tidbit to make it better.” That’s the one company that sticks out. They’re just wham, bam, the best.

And when I did that, they were able to come out the next day because they had some properties right nearby that needed service too. They said they’d just catch it on the way back, and they did. I then got a voicemail that said the person who will be contacting me. I did and it was that day. PLO Pools was awesome. The guy showed up on time and I’m a veteran so I’m big about being on time. He looked at the unit and told me what I had. He was going to talk to the home warranty people and once he got through with them, he came out the next day and replaced the thing. He was in and out in 30 minutes. It was a complete motor swap and now, my pool’s crystal clear again. We’re good, especially when it’s a million degrees outside and I can get in my pool.

Both gentlemen who came for my plumbing claim had been really good, but the repair took some time. The first gentleman came and looked at it. However, obtaining the part took a little over three months. My sister and I continued to keep a plastic container under the sink. We would pour that water out and put it back. When the second gentleman came out, and he looked at things, he thought he might be able to find a part here. He looked around and tried to see about that part. Finally, he was able to see a part. He had to redo what was on the upper portion of my counter to get that resolved. He knew what he was doing. He got that part, got it fixed, and it didn't take him long. AHS is is something that everybody should have because you don't know when you're going to need something. You can't just wait at the last minute and then try to see about that.

AHS has always been great for me to use. I've had it pretty much since I bought my home but I stopped it for financial reasons. Other repair people come out and have been giving me false information trying to get me to pay more than I'm supposed to. But when AHS comes out, they're accurate and tell me the truth. I've never had a bad experience with them at all and I've been in my home for 11 years.
When I notice that my air wasn't working, I reactivated my AHS warranty and once I was able to put my claim in after the 30-day waiting period, I called in to put a claim in. They got back to me the same day, scheduled an appointment, and sent the guy out to look at my system. He said that he would come between 10:00 and 2:00. He came out around 11:45 and assessed the situation on my cooling system. When he came out to look at my system, I was under the impression that I needed a whole new system. He looked at it and said that my system was pretty new and didn't need a whole new system. He was just gonna repair what he needed to repair. I was greatly appreciative of that. He was able to repair my system and complete the work.
He was very professional and helpful. He had his gloves and mask on and did social distancing. He was working outside and came through my basement. He did what he needed to do in there and went back out the backdoor. When he was done, he telephoned me and let me know that everything was fine and that he was on his way. He then shut my door and left. I was satisfied. Now, I have my air on and keeping cool.

Bragg’s came out to fix my oven. They looked at it because it wasn't going up above 150 degrees whenever I try to get it to heat. Whenever the guy came out to look at it, he said it was the glow bar. It’s supposed to make the gas ignite and it wasn’t doing that because it wasn’t getting hot enough. So they had to go and order parts, and they came back and fixed it. With this claim, I went online to get it started and going. Once I remembered my password, American Home Shield's website was pretty user-friendly. I like being able to schedule stuff on the website. They usually give me a window of about 24 hours, or they’ll say they’re gonna contact me within about 24 hours or so. When I submitted the claim for my oven, Brigg's actually called me that same day or evening.
Bragg's was really professional. They did their job. They were really good about it. They explained everything and told me what was going on and got the job done real quick. They even adjusted the temperature gauge on my stove. I’ve been trying to get that to work because it had been heating 50 degrees over. I had tried to adjust it myself but it wasn’t working. They got that done perfectly. So I can heat up my oven now and it takes less than 10 minutes. It was right on the money to that specific temperature. I’ve been cooking up a storm with is as soon as it got fixed. I always like having American Home Shield. We got a couple of friends over and I recommended them because they had a different warranty company. They had trouble with their AC a couple years back and it took them forever. Also, it was costing them way more than I pay American Home Shield.

About my third year into the house, our AC was busted and the coils needed to be replaced. My homeowner’s insurance didn't help much but American Home Shield helped with everything. Recently, I was replacing the toilet with a newer modern one. The flange in it was busted. Then we had Bissett Plumbing come out and fix it without any issue. American Home Shield is worth it but you have to look at it in the long run. It may seem like a waste of money from month to month but when things happen, it helps out. It’s really easy to submit claims. Sometimes it's faster than calling an actual tech to come out here and look from whichever issue you have. They actually get people out here quicker. Sometimes, you'll get a bad contractor, but most of them have been good.

We had a plumbing issue and we had plumbers come out for the same exact issue. They came out for the bathtub that was leaking. When Five Star came out, they were readdressing the same issue that the plumber that we've had prior addressed. That was like the fifth visit we've had from a plumber from Home Shield. We had a plumber from them who came out, and they said that they were gonna have to completely tear down the entire wall in our guest bedroom. They were gonna have to completely redo the piping. There was 300 and something dollars’ worth of charges that American Home Shield wasn't going to be taking care of. They gave us a whole list of demands, so the landlord said, “Hey, they didn’t seem very professional.” He called Home Shield and asked if we could have Five Star come over. So, the guy from Five Star came over to look at it.
The issue that was at hand was the tub faucet was leaking very slightly. I went to tighten it to turn off the water, and it was like something snapped inside, something didn't stop working because the faucet just completely turned all the way to the right and did a full 360 to the point that the tub was spraying water as if you had it on full blast, and you couldn't turn it off. I had to turn the emergency valve outside off permanently until I got the issue addressed. The guy from Five Star fixed it. We told him, “Hey, these prior guys said that we were gonna have to completely tear down the wall and redo everything.” He was mind-boggled that they were trying to do that because he fixed it in probably 10 minutes without tearing the wall down.
He told me on several occasions he was worried that he did a bad job because of how much work the other guys said that they were gonna have to do because he said it was such an easy fix. He didn't understand why the other guys were saying something else. That was two weeks ago that he came over and we've had no issues. We use it every other day to bathe my son.
I very much enjoyed Five Star. I wasn't too fond of the company before him. He was very knowledgeable, very nice and I liked him very much. He did an awesome job. But the initial company that was sent out was dragging their feet. They told me that they couldn't get it replaced for a week and a half. They said that they couldn't order parts until a week from the day that they inspected it. I have a six-month-old, and I was gonna have to go almost two weeks without water. I even apologized because the initial company came out on Memorial Day, and they seemed super-annoyed with being out there. I thanked them and I said, “Hey, I know you guys came out on Memorial Day. I'm sorry for that.” They just told me that they were going to go work on other stuff. So, now that I know there was a simple issue that could have been fixed in two minutes, then I wish I would have said something else.
I certainly hate to hear that we did not provide the expected service. You have had several issue with us here at AHS & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback as we hope to improve processes for a better customer experience. Have a great week.

It's always advisable to call American Home Shield up to confirm after they say somebody's gonna come out. I've been using their services for a while. I'm a real estate broker so I've sent them over 25 people that signed up. They gave me a special rate because I'm a real estate broker and I'm very happy with their service so far. I had a claim and the first purveyor that they sent out to me never responded and never called. I left two messages for them. I called AHS back because I had to speak to someone, and they changed me to Air Pro Master who then came out right away. In fact, they came out earlier than anticipated. They had to replace a condenser in my compressor unit. So far, everything's been working fine and their service has been great.
The only thing I'm a little disheartened about is I keep getting emails from AHS stating that if my compressor needs to be replaced or repaired, I'd have to spend over $1,000 for the Freon. They cover $10 a pound and it cost over $60 a pound now. Otherwise, when they scheduled the second person to come out, I was very happy with the company. They came out and they were very astute and they got it working right away. I live in Las Vegas and when it's 110 degrees outside without AC, it can be extremely uncomfortable.

The app that they use is very reliable. It doesn’t break down so I don’t have any problems when I need to request service. I had an issue with my AC that was going on and off for about four months. I love American Home Shield but diagnosing the problem was part of the issue. I had trouble with one of the companies that they’ve sent out with follow up. When I told them about that, they switched me to the other company.
The last company who came out managed to fix the problem. They were fantastic. They were very prompt. They answered all my questions. They told me what to look for if I started having another similar problem. It did take a minute to figure out exactly what the problem was because there were some multiple issues. They told me what was wrong and fixed it. I had three other AC companies out prior to them and they didn’t fix it. But the previous ones have fixed other things that were going on.

I had a plumbing issue and I put the service request via online. I had a response back within about 15 minutes. Action got ahold of me within about four hours. They thought they couldn’t get to me till Friday, but they put me on a backup list for Thursday. They called me Thursday at 10 since they had a cancellation. They were out here by noon and my problem was taken care of by 1 on Thursday afternoon. So it was not 24 hours from when I put the call in that I had service done.
The tech was great. He knew exactly what to do. He tried to go down the drainpipe that was clogged, but the machine wouldn’t go there. So he went up on the roof of my house and went down through the vent pipe to clear the clog. Then he checked all the other drains in the house to make sure it hasn’t backed up. He ran water through all the pipes to check all the fixtures. He was very, very thorough.
AHS has always done their service promptly. It’s been done well. They’ve sent out competent technicians. I had a microwave go out in a house I had in Stillwater and they sent somebody out. It was a older built-in model and it took a couple of weeks for them to find the part. But they found it, repaired it, and put it back in service. So I’ve never had any problems with them.

I am glad to hear all of your experiences have been pleasant. We look forward to a strong business relationship with you.

The part had to be replaced, so it would take about four days to order and receive it. It took a little bit longer. But still, I called to make sure if they did receive it. They said they did and they scheduled the appointment. Tony came, he fixed it, and he left. He was a really nice and very helpful man.
My brother moved out of the city and told me about American Home Shield because he thought of getting it. I checked it out and I said, “Okay, I'll try it.” At least, I feel secure that if something breaks, I could call them and they'll come and repair it. American Home Shield recommended a great plumber, but I had to go through another insurance, my home insurance, because there was a way more serious problem than they covered. Another thing is that my water went out on me on a Saturday, and they were not open or available during the weekend, so that stretched out the whole procedure until Monday. It was very frustrating for me that American Home Shield has plumbers that don't do weekend work, which is insane to me.
After I submitted the claim online, I felt like I didn't hear from American Home Shield at all as well. Somebody following up and making sure that the people came to my house would have been nice so that I could have voiced my concerns about not having a plumber on the weekends. Other than that, everything was easy and I had a great experience with J & A. The plumber came and he was very knowledgeable of what was going on. I had something wrong with the service line and he talked me through the whole procedure, including what was going to happen and what needed to be done. They were very prompt. They got the job done very quickly for me because I was unable to stay in my house. They made sure that they completed the work so that I was able to use my water.

Shortly after I enrolled in this warranty, I had a problem with my washing machine. I wasn't home when the technician came, my daughter was. He left a message with her saying that my washing machine was not operating properly because of the misuse of appliances, that I stuck it with a lot of clothes. That was not the case. My washing machine was old but well-taken care of. I called then and the guy wasn't able to fix it or do anything with it because he said that wasn't covered. I called again and I was an hour on the phone because I explained to the person who took the call. I don't understand. It says that no matter how old your machine is, they'll fix it.
I asked to talk to the supervisor and I told her that I just wanted a second opinion. I asked AHS to send somebody else, or if I call the company and have them come in and fix it or look at it? She said she would send somebody else. A second technician was sent over and he was a very nice guy. He told me that the bearings are already bare and wasted because it's been misused. I asked if the diagnosis could be old already and not misused, and he said no.
He told me how would AHS cover it. I asked what about replacing it. He said they would not do any of that. I understand machines break down because of use and they used a lot. I paid the $100 deductible. He submitted his report. I was very unhappy because I wasn't getting a new one. I tried explaining and getting a second opinion. But why repair it if it's gonna break down again? I told them to repair it. I was so confused. It was repairable. He was sent here to repair it. I would have accepted if he says that it's not repairable. But he says it was, and it would not be covered by the warranty. Shortly after that, I went to Home Depot and I got me a new washing machine.
I'm very pleased with the company that came the last two times to fix my problem issues. They got it fixed right away. They were fast, professional, respectful, they cleaned up, and they were done. The second time that I had an issue with my plumbing, I requested that company because another company was assigned to come in and resolve the problem. They were very knowledgeable in what they were doing too. That's a big plus. Hopefully, I won't have any more problem issues. But if I do, I want no one else to come but them. They got here within 45 minutes and they kept me posted.

We like to have coverage on everything that we have and American Home Shield has been very professional. They have executed well when they have an issue that I report too. We have three air conditioning units in our home and recently, the unit upstairs was not cooling at all. It would not go off properly and the unit outside was almost as if a relay was bad. It wasn't going off correctly. We made a phone call to one of the personnels with our warranty company and spoke with them. We told them about the problem we were experiencing and they told us they would send a representative out and then they deducted the deductible from our account. When the appointment was scheduled, I received the information on when to expect the company by text.
I was at work when the guy from Rescue Your Air came, but my wife was here and from when I spoke with her, she put the pets up. The guy went in the back, and then he came back and told her everything should be good at that point. The contractor handled everything in a very efficient manner and from a timely perspective. However, it may have been more than one issue that was there, or something of that nature may have occurred. Based on what he corrected, it created another problem because we started having issues after that. Since we still have an issue with the unit upstairs, my wife called them again and asked for them to come back out. I received another text pertaining to when to expect them as well. There have been some opportunities with me not having all the information though.
I've had multiple issues with similar appliances and I've paid multiple deductibles because the individual came out at two separate times. It wasn’t clearly communicated that one technician could have resolved all of that and I just became aware of that on this particular time when I had the technician come out, and they looked at the same multiple appliances. American Home Shield made me aware on the last claim that if I went online and submited a request, the platform was not going to allow me to put in multiple items and multiple appliances, but I could call in and speak with a representative. They would add on all of the other appliances for me. Other than that, my experience overall has been very positive and I would recommend them to someone else.

American Home Shield has worked out well. I’ve had it as long as we’ve had the house here, 25 years, and it’s been in the last several years that I’ve really done anything with claims on it and I’ve always found that it as a good arrangement. I’ve always been satisfied with it. Our garage door would work sometimes and not other times. The unit has been in there for 25 years. Submitting the claim for it was super. I did it online and within minutes, I had an appointment. It was just terrific. We had a guy from Garage Door Experts who was amazing. He came right in and he asked what the problem was. I explained it to him and he said that he could fix it. I figured he would have to get the meters and test them. But he said that the sensors had to be changed down there. I was doubting but he really knew what was going on. He took the capacitor that runs the motor out and threw it away, put in a new one, and that took care of it. He was out of here in 10 minutes.

The shower head was leaking and we were having some work done in our bathroom due to another issue that was going on. So I had AHS send High Priority Plumbing so that we could get that issue addressed and I wouldn’t have to get it mixed up with the other issue. The plumber had to come out a couple of times only because these other people who were working on the other issue kept not fixing it the way it needed to be fixed for High Priority to do what they needed to do. Once the other people fixed the issue High Priority was able to fix the issue within 30 minutes, and I haven’t had an issue with that.
I did everything about the claim online. I’ve used the website of AHS multiple times since we bought our home in 2017. It’s fascinating. I prefer it to calling because you never know what the call volume’s gonna be day-to-day. They provide a window of 24 hours when I should receive a call for scheduling. And typically if they have no time to call me within the same day if I submitted it in the morning and if I submitted it late, I get a call the first thing the next day. So High Priority always moves very quickly. Most of American Home Shield's contractors do.
High Priority is top-tier to us. Everybody who's come has been very informative. They’ve kept us abreast of everything that’s going on. Most of the other contractors have been the same. The only one I’ve ever had a complaint about is when our dryer broke down. Whoever contractor AHS sent to us for that particular job was not very good. The communication was terrible. The job took longer than it should have. But as far as the work they’ve done, everything has been functioning the way it needs to.
Everything that we’ve called AHS for where they sent one of their contractors and pretty much everything has been fixed. I'm highly satisfied. The service is easy to use, especially with online access. The contractors have been great. And even when I have had issues with the contractor, American Home Shield always listened to my complaint. They are always proactive in trying to find ways to solve the issues.

I'm not really satisfied with American Home Shield right now. They had someone come out and fix my dishwasher, and that was fine. But there was nothing wrong. The switch was just turned off. This time, my microwave just turned off one day and quit running. I called American Home Shield and was on hold for an hour before I was able to speak with a representative. Then the home warranty sent me a crappy replacement. The selection was probably made for me because I wouldn't have picked this microwave. It's just not right. I had a Bosch microwave and now, I have a small countertop microwave on this huge hole. The microwave is the wrong size. But I guess that's not the appliance company's fault. I'm sure they took measurements when they came out. I don't know how that happened. I probably won't use American Home Shield next time when it's time to renew.
I certainly hate to hear that we did not provide the expected service. You have had several issue with us here at AHS & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback as we hope to improve processes for a better customer experience. Have a great week.

Burton's Appliance had to come out and replace some parts on my washing machine. Sears had started it, and then Burton's Appliance came out and finished it up. My washing machine was shaking really bad and it wasn't spinning out. It was shaking and about to shake the whole house loose. Burton's they had to order the part for that. Then they had to order the part for it to release the water out of it because the water was staying there. We had to keep going back, trying to make it spin out because it would run a while then it would stop a while. Everything works fine now.
The only thing that I didn't like is the plumbing company that Home Shield sent out here. I definitely never want them to ever send that company to my house again because the guy that they sent had a very nasty attitude. One thing people need to do, especially plumbers, anybody that comes to your house, they need to start wearing shoes in your house or covers on their feet and stop bringing their nasty feet in your house without any covers on their feet because I got carpet all the way through my house. And when the tech came in the front bathroom and did the work in there, I knew he had to cut off the water, but he wasted water all over the floor and wet up the rug, and just left his nasty footprints all down on my floor.
And then, he went in my front bathroom and stepped in my tub with his nasty shoes on. I didn't like that. He got dirt all over the floor and everything. He was supposed to have snaked out the drain on the outside. After that, we still have problems with the sink. So, when I called the company, they told me they would send him back out here and let him check it again because the people from Burton's Appliance and Sears said the drain was not snaked out good. That's why it kept backing up. The water was backing up in the washing machine up in my house too.
So then, he came back out the second time, and of course, I didn't want him to come back to my house anyway, and then, they still turned around and sent him back again. And when he came back, "Well, I snaked it out and I'm not gonna snake it out no more. What you need to do is just get a handyman and let him dig up the pipe." And I said, "Well, what did you come out here for? You shouldn't have even come out here if you're gonna come out here and say something like that." So, when I talked to Home Shield, I told the lady, "If I ever decide to use a plumber again, do not never send that company back to my house again." That nasty guy's name was Jerry. I will never forget him. He had one of the nastiest attitudes.
On the other hand, the Sears people and Burton's Appliance were very nice. I have used Burton's Appliance before I even knew anything about Home Shield. I've been using them to do my work, and those guys got nice attitudes. But that particular guy was very nasty, and I told them never to send him back to my house anymore. Because after the guy came out last week from Burton's Appliance, what we did was we got a handyman and he went out there and dug up the pipes. And he said, "Well, that guy didn't even snake it out. That's why it was still clogged up. He didn't even snake that out like he said he did." But other than that, everything else is fine.
I joined up because my daughter has Home Shield. Also, my son told me to see what kind of experience I have from it and if it worked out fine, then he would join, too. And then, I had a sister who told me that she wanted to join up too. But after the plumber acted all nasty, she said, "Well, I don't know if I wanna join or not." I said, "Well, that one was messed up. That's not for everybody else, you know." I would recommend anybody to get Home Shield.

Our air conditioner wouldn't work. It sounded like water was just pouring then it started making noises like how you turn water on at a faucet sometimes. And if the water is turned off, you have the water then you have like air pressure. It stops, it spurts and sputters then you have them running and it spurts and sputters. It was kind of doing that. It was still doing that after a while. It then started making other noises too. I got up and actually looked for water. It was really interesting. I thought the air conditioner was gonna catch on fire. It went out one night. But it scared me so we shut the air conditioner off completely. We called American Home Shield and reported it. Tropical Breeze Heating and Air was sent out and a young man came. We had to wait a couple of days though. It would have been nice if the guy could’ve gotten here a little sooner, but it's summer.
When submitting a claim, we just call and American Home Shield gives us information. We just sit and wait then we are called. On the contract, contractors are supposed to contact us and set up an appointment. But I don't know if that's true or not. I thought they had to be here within 24. But that might have been my fault. I may not have read the contract.
But everything was really good. The tech was a medium-aged man. He was very nice, pleasant, and kind. He was very prompt too. He had to order a part but he did a great job. He got the air conditioner going and it’s been fine since. He went out of his way and made sure the air conditioner worked. He checked on it and told us that if it didn't work, we should get back with him. It was good and I would suggest that young man for a lot of people. We've used American Home Shield a couple of times and we always had an excellent response. We used one of their contractors for something and it was not a good situation. But it's okay. All of the others have been really great. And I really liked that young man.

Having AHS is the best thing that anyone could ever have because without American Home Shield, if you’re not prepared to make a lump sum, then you’re not gonna be able to get your appliances covered. The AHS repair shops have been very good. Although their contractors are getting paid less because they’re working warranty work, they have always been very cheerful, helpful, and honest. I’ve had way better luck working directly with them than working through something like Sears Repair. Filing claims with AHS is also ridiculously easy. You just go online and submit a service request. And then shortly thereafter, they send you an email that says who your assigned service provider is with their contact information and instructions that the service provider will contact you within 24 hours.
I look at AHS as an insurance policy and it’s the kind of thing that I make sure to renew every year. I had it at my former house for 16 years and I’ve had it at this house for eight. I’ve had lots of claims and surprisingly, they keep renewing me. I've definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. My daughter is getting her first apartment in Chicago and I called them to see if they had a stand-alone product for renters. Her appliance maintenance is just her, not her landlord for some reason. AHS has an appliances-only version and I’m going to do that because it has been absolutely painless.

The fan blade on my 25-year-old air conditioner was bent and so it wasn’t blowing out cold air. Every summer I'd have to pay another $75 to keep the Freon built up. The technician from American Air and Heating came out and recommended replacing the whole unit. I waited for another two weeks and then American Home Shield called and told me that they could cover 60%. I would cover 40% and I agreed to it. Then the technician came back out and replaced the whole thing. The new unit is more efficient and it's smaller but it's more powerful. I'm glad that he was able to do that and American Home Shield was able to cover that portion. Hopefully, the Freon lasts a little bit longer with this new air conditioner.

A-US came three times and they caused a lot of damage to our property. They kept saying that the problem was fixed, and we trusted that the problem was fixed. Our entire garage ceiling is messed up because of that. American Home Shield said that we cannot file for secondary damages. So, finally, they came back on the 29th of April, and then I called them back three weeks after that. It turned out we were having the same leak again. They sent a technician out. He did the same thing that the first one did. After the first guy came, he said, “Oh, it’s nothing. We cleaned it already. You’re not gonna have any problems.” Less than three weeks later, we had big leak again. Then they sent this other guy 48 hours probably after I called. He came out and did the same thing. He explained to me what he had done and that it was gonna resolve the problem.
We let our air run for about five hours, and we didn’t go and try to where I could check because the problem was fixed. When we came back in, there was a huge puddle in our garage and there was even more water coming out. The third time they sent this guy out, I didn’t receive any notice that he was coming. He called me when he was outside of my door and I wasn’t there. So then, he told he was gonna be back at 4:00. It didn’t happen. I was waiting for him until almost 6 o’clock in the afternoon, and he just kept telling me that he was getting something to eat and he would be here shortly. That turned into me waiting over an hour and a half for him to get here. Apparently, the problem has been solved, but I’m not really sure if it did get solved or not because the last time it worked for three weeks and then it stopped working. It’s always the same remedy that they’re doing.
Apparently, they were cleaning out some pipe. They blew the line. Something about a pan that was holding that when the lines are clogged causes for the goop to be accumulated on that pan and that developed causing the leak. It literally took them three times of doing the same thing in order for them to actually fix it. It hasn’t leaked out into our garage, but our ceiling in our garage is ruined. I wish that they would’ve told me that there was a probability of it leaking because it caused a lot of damage. Now, we’re gonna have to get the ceiling in our garage gutted because of that.
There was a less than six inches mark of water in our garage ceiling. So then, we went upstairs and we checked, and it was exactly in the same area where the AC was at and our AC wasn’t cooling. It was very insignificant but the thing is that, when they came out, they said that the problem was fixed. So, both times, we ran the AC. It caused a lot of damage. There’s molds in the garage now that you can see because of how wet it got.
The contractors were fine. They were courteous. They thought that they had fixed the problem, but I don’t know if they actually knew what they were doing. Overall, working with American Home Shield has been good except I can’t get through their appliance replacement line. I’ve been calling for the last week and a half, and I’ve been on hold for up to three hours, and nobody has ever answered me. I’ve been calling the direct number and I was given options that I have to press, and I’ve been doing that, and I’m still being placed on hold. We don’t really use a computer a lot and I don’t use an online account for that. Another thing is they send our calls to somewhere else with people that have very strong accent. It’s really hard to understand what they’re saying, and these people are all about denying your claim, which is pretty annoying.

I used to be able to do everything myself around here but that doesn’t happen anymore. I'm getting too old. Of all the times I’ve used the warranty, there was maybe one that didn’t justify $125 and that I said to myself, "I could have done that." But other than that, the warranty has more than paid for itself. When I had an issue with the ballast in my kitchen light, the tech figured it out, replaced it and went on his way. Everything was perfect.
The only thing that’s mildly annoying is that there’s never any emergency service. If a pipe burst, I gotta wait for somebody to call me and make an appointment. What good does that do me when my kitchen is flooding? My biggest thing would be to find a contractor that has round-the-clock service that could come out right away. Also, if you file the claim online, the choices for defining the problem are kinda slim. I had an emergency one with plumbing and I just gave American Home Shield what was wrong with the plumbing and then the leaking but I couldn’t tell them what the problem was, that the pipe had burst. But other than that, it’s fine. In fact, my brother just joined American Home Shield this last week. He had to lay out over $500 for the air conditioning repair. He knew I had American Home Shield because I had explained how everything worked. He was always hesitant about it but then that kinda tripped the trigger for him.

Rush Heating & Cooling came promptly and fixed the problem pretty much right away. The air conditioning unit was not working. It wasn’t turning on. My husband submitted the claim to American Home Shield. They assigned it right away and that particular company worked out, but we had an issue. When we submitted the claim, they assigned it right away, and we’re like, “Wow, that was fast.” It was holiday weekend and the problem was that the initial company that they assigned it to contacted us within the next couple of days, and then we tried calling them back, and we couldn’t get a hold of them. So, we called and called. Their voicemail box was full, and they never got back in touch with us. So, then I had to call American Shield, and I was placed on hold for over an hour. I just let it sit there, and they finally picked up after an hour of being on hold.
AHS put me on hold and tried to contact the company that it was assigned to, and they couldn’t get a hold of them. The rep was gonna resubmit it for that same company to contact us within 24 hours, and if they didn’t, she said I should call back again. I said, “Just reassign it to someone else because I’m not gonna wait on hold again for an hour.” That was when she submitted it to the Rush and they were able to schedule it right away, and come out in the next couple of days and fix it. Everything is good now.
We have two properties. So, we were gonna switch over our second property but after this all happened and we couldn’t get a hold of them, we were like, “Never mind, maybe we should wait.” This was our first experience and we felt terrible. The tenants in our properrty ended up going out and buying air conditioning units for the windows, and my husband almost had to pay for those. But we’re definitely gonna keep it and give it a try with the circumstances around everything happening in the world. We’re just gonna see if it might have been a one-off.

My dryer was making some strange noises then it didn’t work anymore. I made a request online and the site is more user-friendly than on the phone with the voice stuff. Also, what I experienced with Sears during this time was fine, but I want to call and ask if I have to pay them again if it goes out again. First, the dryer went out, and then within an hour, the washer went out, so I was pissed because I already paid $100 for the deductible to find out I had to pay another $100 for the washing machine. I ended up being out of $200, which I didn’t like. Still, the unit has been functioning all right now. It’s been doing great.
I need American Home Shield to come out and look at my central air unit as well, but I don’t know what I did to the key to take the case off and I don’t know if I need to put in the comments that the contractor would need bring bolt cutters to break the locks off. All in all, this is the first time I’ve used American Home Shield and it comes in handy. It beats out calling the repair person, and then I would have to pay more.

Last year, I paid $700 out of pocket for my air conditioner as well as some other odds and ends. She asked me what I don't just get American Home Shield. I finally did it and it paid off recently. The AC condenser fan on the outside of my central unit quit working. I went on American Home Shield's website and submitted a claim. I was able to put in my information and I got a confirmation email and a text. A couple of hours later, their contractor Grady's Air was calling to set up an appointment for the next morning. The techs already had the motor needed when they arrived. By the time I got to my place, they were gone and my air conditioner was working.

I forgot to shut our dryer off one day and we weren't gone for maybe 15 minutes but when we came back, we could smell smoke. I shut it off and we called American Home Shield. Within a day or two, the tech came out and took off the bottom of the dryer and realized that we had a lot of lint buildup down there. He also noticed that there was a switch that was not working right. He told us that he couldn't get the lint out of there and that that was something that we could do. He showed my husband how to put everything back together and then he fixed the switch. Now, when you open the door, the dryer will shut off like it used to. He was very honest and very helpful.
There was one time when the fan of our AC unit was real loud. We called American Home Shield and they sent some people out. The whole unit had to be replaced. They came in and put the unit in. They went right up into the attic, which has a very, very narrow ladder that goes up in there. We were without any AC for about a week. Months later, we were having some problems with it and a young man came from a different company. He seemed to know what he was doing. There were some problems with the wiring and he said that whoever came the first time didn't do it right. So he went up there and fixed the wiring. He said there could have been a fire if he didn't come to fix it.
Customer service at American Home Shield is really good. Now we're able to go online and submit the claim instead of calling. They respond quickly, which I was really surprised, especially when it's done online. They send emails right away when they get our email or calls, and let us know that someone would contact us and the name of the person that would contact us, which is really helpful because my husband and I are old. It helps us out a lot to make sure that the person is not a criminal or a scam.

The contractor came out for my refrigerator and there were three things wrong with it. He claimed that all it needed was a water filter that he didn't have. He ordered it and he was supposed to come back and put it in. That was supposed to make ice cubes work and make the temperature be correct on the refrigerator side. However, we have no way of knowing if that was what was wrong until after he puts it in and see if that fixes everything.
Submitting the claim was easy. However, they have vendors that don't give you a date and time very quickly. For example, on the refrigerator, we were told about two and a half weeks ago that it was supposed to be fixed by Sears. We waited for a week and a half. On the day they were supposed to show up, the never showed and never called until the end of the window when they were supposed to come.
AHS said that they did not have a place on the website to let them know this, there was no place to chat with them and there was no place to email them. You should be able to either chat, send an email, or send a box message the way most online companies do. Instead, you have no choice but to call and wait an hour before you finally get somebody to help you. Sometimes, you wait 45 minutes, but it clicks and hangs up on you.
The woman who helped me was quite good and followed up the next day with calling back. A second company eventually contact us. This has always been the case in the last two years. It has always been the problem if you have an unreliable vendor that doesn't show up. Some of the vendors they send, like one plumbing company, call the same day, are there the next day, fix it, and are gone. You don't have to go back for a second call. When we had a problem with a range top, the contractor called AHS and said that it can't be fixed because there was no part. AHS authorized a new range top immediately.

United Air Temp came out for my AC last week. They were very respectable and professional. The tech was good and he wore a mask. It was leaking a little bit and he said it was clogged. So he fixed it. With AHS, I like that all I have to do is pay my 75 and they call the people to get it done. But there was one instance where they called someone but it took a while for them to come. But for the most part, they’re a good company. They do their job. I also like that they’re not expensive.

With American Home Shield, I don't have to have such large out of pocket expenses when I need repairs. The first time Sears came for the ice maker, they reset it but that didn't take care of it. The second time, they came and replaced it. It was perfect.

I called American Home Shield to get a referral for annual service and inspection before going into summer. Crispy Air came out and did that. They did a good job. They said our air conditioner is closer to 20 years old and it was getting time to replace it. They also said American Home Shield has some kind of a program where you get a $1,500 discount on their price. The new AC is already installed and running. It's a Bryant, and it’s a little noisy but it works well. I don’t have to worry about it not working when it’s 120 degrees outside. The timeliness of the repair or to replace it, you sit around for a week waiting for parts, whereas this was just a matter of a day or two.

The kids flipped a breaker switch which I didn’t know I had. The power was down upstairs affecting the upper AC unit. So, Elite Electric Solutions came out, they tested everything, they found the switch, and they turned it back on. I was impressed submitting claims to American Home Shield. I’ve used them several times. It was really pretty quick and painless. It takes a little longer to get approval though. So, as soon as they sent me a note saying who was doing it, I call them up, and they’re like, “We received it two minutes ago, and let’s go, let’s get it going.” I heard from the people who were doing the servicing that American Home Shield is the best one to deal with. It’s always nice to hear that you have the best. So, I was impressed with that. They’ve replaced three things for me including fuses and a double-oven. I had good experiences with them. It takes a little while to work through the system, but it works well.

D&D Heating & Air Conditioning showed up on time then they took their time to diagnose what the problem was, and they fixed it. It was great. There was something wrong with the shredder and because of that, there was a leak and that was what caused a lot of Freon and my air conditioner wasn't working. There were a few different things the contractor needed to do and it was a little while (a couple of hours), but I would have preferred that they took their time and did it correctly.
This is the second call I've had with the Freon leak and I understand that Freon is expensive, so I can see why that would be the thing that would be eliminated from the coverage. At the same time, that's a thing I want to be covered for. The service request ended up being a $200 cost to me including my deductible. There's a $10 offset right now but that could be improved. All in all, the monthly cost has gone up since I first started. I'm spending about $600 a year, but I've also used the services and it has always been professional. Things have been turned around quickly as well.

When the little pipe coming out of the sump pump was leaking, the AHS contractor was here three times. The first time someone came, the guy said he fixed it but it started leaking as soon as he left. The second one came and said that what was leaking was the little basket part. He had to put in a to request to see if he could get that okayed through AHS. They okayed it. he ordered it and came back a third time to put it in. I like AHS. I've used them for around five years now. I don't like that sometimes, it takes longer to get the thing done if the contractor doesn't fix it the first time or they have to get authorization on something. Other than that, I've been happy with everything.

Louisiana has had several storms recently and lightning strikes and it blew out the fuses. I submitted a claim for my AC unit and American Home Shield took it from there. There was very little work on my part. You couldn't have asked for anything better with my coverage. It's first-rate. The condenser went out on my AC unit and it ended up being a situation where a completely new system was installed. When I submitted the claim with American Home Shield, I had a call from the contractor, DeepSouth, the very next day. The tech was there that day as well. He looked at it on a Friday and on Monday, I had a completely new system installed. DeepSouth dealt with it so well and very quickly as well.
I was with another home warranty company prior to American Home Shield and it was a long haul whenever you had to deal with something. You almost had to argue your case. But with American Home Shield, it wasn't the case. It was pretty much submit the claim and they took it on from there. It was smooth and easy. You can't beat that sort of service.

There was a little bit longer wait time than normal when I filed my claim with AHS. However, that's kinda all the services lately with everything going. I talked to somebody and got the claim in and it was pretty quick. They had a plumber come out. The plumber came out and fixed our issue. He was awesome. He showed up quickly and got the job done. I asked a billion questions and he was super nice. He answered everything and made sure everything was fixed up. The water leaked through the ceiling to our laundry room and he said that I needed that dried out and that they had a company that they worked with. I didn't know really much of anything because I've never had to deal with that so far. Within the hour, that other company showed up at our door. Had he not done that, who knows where we would send out for the water stain.

We switched from another company because the customer service was horrible and the claim was always argued to get taken care of, whereas, with AHS the process went very smoothly. Using the AHS portal was very easy. It had some drop-down functions and then, if you had to type something in, that was available. For me, my problem was in the drop-down menu. Triton Pools & Spas handled my claim very well and I’d give them the highest marks. I called when my pump had totally quit. They were supposed to come on a Saturday, but they were able to get me in two days sooner. They were also very professional.

He was nice. He answered all our questions and we usually have a lot. So he was very helpful and he didn't seem rushed. Overall, working with Home Shield has been pretty positive since we've owned our home. There has only been a couple times where it didn't seem very beneficial to have it. There was a time when I didn't want to use a certain provider and I've been told that I have to go with a business that I don't wanna use. They won't let me skip to a different business until that business turns me down or can't fix something.

When I called at 6:30, I was still on hold for 50 minutes waiting for somebody to take my request. Their service people are good, but getting a request in takes forever.
I had a problem with my slop sink in the basement. The contractor cleared the line. I had water damage down the basement and they cleared it up. The gentleman who owns the company and his wife was very good. When we first started with AHS, we had another plumbing company that came in several times to fix the problem. But they never really fixed it. When the ceiling went down, AJ Plumbing came in and they found the problem, which the other company didn’t do for a number of times. Ever since then, whenever we have a plumbing problem, we ask for AJ Plumbing.

American Home Shield is the WORST company to deal with. I have been with them over 14 years and just recently have had the worst experience. My AC unit at one of my rental properties has been serviced with AHS since 2012. Each year they come out and serve it and put in freon. However, I asked if there was a leak in the pipe but because the way the condo/townhouse is set up, they're unable to perform a leak test. It's obvious it's a leak. It's an old unit and AHS has been putting freon in over the last few years but per United Air Temp (contractor through AHS) AHS won't replace it they can get the system working again. If you can't perform a leak test, how can you say there isn't a leak? Find a way to perform a leak test or REPLACE IT!!! Your records should show someone has been out over the last five years doing the same thing over and over again.
I can't afford to keep paying $450 every year to new freon not to mention the $75 service fee I have to pay and have paid over the years for the same exact problem. REPLACE IT!! Add up the amount of money I have paid you all over the last ten plus years on four properties and see it's worth replacing a unit because I am cancelling all of my contracts with you. I spoke with a manager name Jenn (so she says) last week and stated she will notate my account to have the unit replace and some will call me back by June 5th. Well, it didn't happen. I held for over 55 minutes on for her to give me some bs and not document my account.
Your company is the WORST and I will cancel all three of my contracts with you a take my business elsewhere. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm also filing a complaint with the BBB. I'm sure the CEO Mr. Rex Tibbens could care less because you're busy making money and not being of good service or making your customers happy.

Customer service started out great but when push came to shove we were really disappointed. It was easy to schedule an appointment to fix our dryer (which makes sense given that we were paying them to do so). However the process has been very difficult from that point on. A service tech arrived a few days later and identified the problem and informed us that he didn't think the parts were currently being produced. He left. We called AHS and they informed us that the parts were being ordered and it would take 5-7 business days for them to arrive. Surprising but great. We called back (after waiting on hold for 30 mins each time) and they informed us that a technician would have to come out again to perform diagnose the problem further. We were very confused and after asking several clarifying questions the call was ended abruptly.
We are left with a non-working dryer and we get to call again to figure out what can be done I guess. It was unclear if the contractor was originally at fault or AHS but either way they are ultimately responsible for the service. It has now been two weeks since we had originally called and unless we continue to reach out to AHS (and wait on hold) we would not have moved this forward at all. At this point we would have been better off just to buy a new dryer. Overall we are disappointed with this service so far.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

After three days and many calls I am still waiting for the repair to be assigned to a vendor? I have four repair centers that service my area but none that AHS approves of. I have health issues and they have been of no help with my problem except I have noticed that they just charged my card for the $75.00. There should be a set time to find a vendor in an emergency situation and the policyholder should be able to choose anyone local who can fix the problem.

I have this dumb warranty just in case something breaks. So something did break last week, and it's Friday 1-1/2 week later, and still not repaired. I understand due to pandemic everything is delayed, however there's no customer service whatsoever. I tried calling the 1st plumbing co, no answer, left 3 messages. Called AHS, 3 days in a row, unable to talk to anyone after 45 minutes. I tried calling again, because they didn't waste no time charging my card for services not done. After being on hold for 1-1/2 hour, finally spoke to someone, and assigned another plumbing company, and the rep told me it would be expedited, lol. She said, they will call you in 4 hours, because I explained water leak is damaging my cabinet, and asked if they would fix it, and flat out told me not their problem. So 24 hours later, still haven't heard from my expedited plumbing co. Lol!!
I called the plumbing company, and rude guy answered me with no customer service skills whatsoever, and told me to call back because he couldn't touch the lady's computer. Called ahs again, and on hold for 1.5 hours, and still no one picks up the phone. I guess I can understand why they can't answer since they only use low life, in the dumps companies that like them don't give a hoot about customers, and customers calling to get the service we pay for. Unbelievable. Don't waste your time, and money. After they decide to answer me, I'm cancelling what they call service.

It upsets me that I have to give them a star. They deserve zero. I have been on hold for a total of over 3 hours (so far) the last two days trying to get my washer replaced, which they said is eligible for replacement. There is no other way to get a hold of them besides calling and listening to their horrible hold music for hours on end. No email address. No chat option on the website. They have made it this way on purpose. They want to try to drive you crazy until you give up. I requested service on 5/21. It is 6/5 and I still don't have a washer. I have given up trying to get any money out of them. I just want to cancel my coverage, but now I'm on hold again in order to do that. (20 minutes so far). Not worth the time and money. DON'T DO IT. Take that money you would spend each month and save it in your own bank account for when you need it. They will just take your money and not honor their side of the deal.

Updated on 07/09/2020: So this is an update on my review from 06/05/2020. The issue with our service request still not resolved. After my initial post, someone called Robert sent us an email on 06/08/2020 stating they are looking into it. He followed up with a call to my husband and told him we could purchase new washer and dryer and AHS will refund us. He promised to send a document in the mail that we will use for the transaction, but no document came.
On 06/12/2020, I called back and insisted on canceling my contract this time. After much persistence with customer service, they transferred me to retention department. A very nice lady Kristin (ID# **) promised she will follow up and convinced me to let another contractor look at the issue. She was true to her word, called us and set up another contractor to look at the issue. She is the ONLY honest person we spoke with at this company! She stated she knows this mystery 'Robert', but since we agreed to let another contractor look at the issue, we didn't insist on talking with Robert.
Another contractor was sent to the home on 06/16/20, and he said he needed to order some parts, and guess what? That was the last we heard of them until I called again to follow up on 06/29/20. A rep told me the case has been transferred to 'supervisors' and they are the only one to handle it, so he will have one of them call me in no more than 48h. Again, no call back!
I called back today 07/09/2020 and a very rude guy called Chris (ID **), told me it was my fault I have waited this long to follow up stating 'the last time we heard from you is 06/29 and If I were the one I would have called back sooner'. I guess he has no idea that each time you call you wait about 30-45mins before anyone comes to the phone, and he has forgotten that their clients have to work to pay them. And if you dare call after office hours, you may be on the phone for over an hour. But beyond that, he sees nothing wrong with them having been on this issue since January. He is the face of AHS and it is a very UGLY face.
Shortly afterwards, my husband received a text stating that yet another contractor has been schedule to come out tomorrow and we said NO! We are done! It is just a non-stop merry-go-round. We decided to cancel our contract with them. If you value your money and time, RUN away from this company. They have no intention of helping. No one could tell us what need to be purchased and how much. The contractors keep 'disappearing' and we are guessing AHS is not giving them the go ahead to order the part; neither is AHS willing to replace. Find other reputable company, AHS is a fraudulent one.
Original Review: We have been a customer of AHS since 2017, and as much as we would have loved to give them a good rating based on prior experiences, the experience in the past 5 months negates that. We placed a service request for the washer and dryer in our rented property in January. Apparently they sent out a contractor who was unable to solve the problem, but they went ahead and 'completed' the request. We don't live in the property, so we weren't aware it was never completed for another couple of weeks.
I have called at least 6 times spending quite a long time on phone. You wait on hold for nothing less than half hour, majority of the time for at least an hour until someone picks up. Right off the back it is clear that the offshore reps are unable to solve any problem, though they go extra mile to be as polite as possible, apologizing a million times on behalf of the company. They try reaching the contractor each time, had to leave a message, and then return to the call to promise to follow up..... never did!
I tried reaching them yesterday, and like previous calls, I waited on hold for over an hour (which is about the 6th call on this request), no one picked up. Resumed calling today and hung up after about 30mins because I was at work; called back at lunch break and thought it was my lucky day. An "extremely polite" lady picked up and when I was insisting on talking with the supervisor for resolution (now on the call for about 55mins), she again made attempt to reach the contractor, left a message and told me she will file a complaint against the contractor. She promised to have a supervisor call me in 30-60mins.......it's been at least 8hrs and I'm still waiting. At this point, I don't even know if it is worth continuing this pursuit. The work remains undone, they keep charging me monthly fees yet without performing the service I pay monthly for. This is beyond frustrating.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are pleased to speak with you in terms of a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

Recently, we had Patel's Plumbing & Sewer come in and they were great. The tech diagnosed the problem really quick and he was in and out. There was no extra and he didn’t try to upsell me anything. When I first had my air conditioner serviced, AHS said they would send somebody out. Then 20 minutes before the guy gets here, AHS sent me an email saying they'd only cover $10 per pound of the $90 per pound that they cost. They didn't even call me. The guy was trying to charge me $500. I told him it should be covered under warranty. I was going back and forth and finally, I saw the email that they had sent.
I also had the water heater go out at Christmas. The tech came in and said there was a $475 upgrade fee. I have a warranty and I pay my $75 deductible. Then I was told it was a mandatory $475 upgrade fee. All they did was to cut out about 2 feet of copper pipe and re-sweat it. It was not a big deal and I could have done that myself. I didn't really lose anything 'cause if I'd have had to go out and buy a water heater and do the work myself, I still would have spent the same money. But I have a warranty and it's what the home warranty is for.
Based on those two experiences, I'd rate AHS very poorly. Communication is everything. The last thing I wanna do is deal with the people who are servicing and I'm gonna be the first one to tell me about these charges. That's not the way to do business, especially if you already know about them upfront. You don't want your customer to be surprised by hidden fees.
I upgraded because I'm still new into the house and I'd have a couple things go bad. I know the furnace and the air conditioner are gonna go out at some point and if that has to be replaced, I don't even know what the hidden costs are. It would be nice to pay this $35 deductible and have them help me. That was one of the things I fought for when I bought the house and they assured me that it was in good running condition. Two weeks after being in the house, there was no Freon in the air conditioner. I was told, “But we bought you the home warranty, so it’s covered.” But no, not everything.
I would love to hear more about your experience in an effort to resolve your issue. My name is Stacy and with AHS's social media department. I will email you shortly.

I was having difficulty with my garage door. It would make these moaning sounds as it would go up and down and I didn't know what the issue was. So, I called American Home Shield and Door Corporation came out. They were quite good. The individual that came by from there was Eric. He was very cordial and cleanly-attired. He had the masks and gloves on to make sure that he was not only safe for himself regarding the virus but also that I, who was in the same area as him, was just as safe as well. He pinpointed the issue and he did what he had to do to fix it. He was quickly able to correct it. He handled it very professionally.
Going back this past winter, my furnace, unfortunately, gave out. Based on what the technician had said, it didn’t make sense to repair it, given what it would cost to put in a brand-new one. AHS also sent out a technician twice regarding the furnace because I wanted a second opinion because I thought that it was something that could quite easily be fixed. But unfortunately, that was not the case.
AHS ended up replacing the furnace for me. Rather than to use their technician, I elected instead to do a buyout where they sent me a check for me to use. I used one of the local companies here, Apt Electronics only because I had done business with them before, and I knew that this was a pretty big project for me to put in a furnace. I’d rather deal with someone that I had had a very good experience with in the past. Everything worked just like they said. I sent AHS all the information that they requested, and they sent me my check, just as they promised to do.
Whether it was for the repair of the replacement of my furnace or whether it was this issue here with my garage door opener, the customer service people from AHS that I spoke with were cordial and professional. They were empathetic to what I needed and they quickly connected me with the right people. They explained the whole process to me. Everybody was so wonderful and so helpful. They're very calm, cool and collected. American Home Shield should be proud of all of them.

The AC didn't work. The condenser outside wasn’t spinning. I called the number on the paperwork I had for American Home Shield and the claim was done through an automated system which made me feel insecure. It was so easy it made me feel like it didn’t work. I would have felt more comfortable if it was a person. But it worked fine. As soon as I got off the phone with the automated system, I called the contracting company and they gave me a window. Everything has been functioning perfectly since they’ve been out. AHS has been reassuring.

I had an issue when I filed a claim online. I could only select one on the website. There should be an option if there's more than one problem going on. Otherwise, it's pretty user-friendly. We had an outlet that wasn't working and an electrical issue with the dining room light. But by the time the tech got there, we realized it was our phone charger that wasn't working, not the electrical outlet. He tested it out and realized that there were two switches located in different places in the house and that one of the switches was just off in the dining room.

My air condition was leaking water and it ruined the closet next to it, as well as my floors. I called American Home Shield and they made the assignment. Then Advanced Heating & Air Conditioning came out and did the repair. The young man was very professional. He called me, let me know when he was gonna come and came out at the assigned time. The air works now and we’re back home. My husband had cancer so he doesn’t tolerate the heat. It was so hot down here that we had to get a motel room from the time I reported it to that Friday. My husband is back in his bed now and he’s content so I’m happy. American Home Shield also seemed to have gotten better with working with people. So I’m satisfied at this point in time.

Every time the AC came on, there was a loud noise inside the house. I called and the technician from NW Sundance Services came out the next day. It was very quick. The repair was fantastic. Then I had to have someone come out for my refrigerator that was also making noise which was not constant. It comes on and it goes off. When the technician came, he told me to call him when I'd hear the noise. He wanted me to open the freezer, and open the main part so I could tell him where is it coming from, so he could order the part to fix it. I called on Tuesday, left a message, and nobody called me back. I called again today and they said the ticket was closed out. I have to call American Home Shield again and request that they recall it. Every time I call, I’m on hold forever, and I’m at work. So, I’m gonna call right after work. I’m not happy with the refrigerator.
We do apologize your issue is continuous. We would love to assist you more pertaining to your refrigerator, and come to a resolve. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

Electrical storm came through and knocked out a deep freeze. I couldn’t find out because I lost all the electricity in the garage and Willen Electric found it. They handled it quite well and they were really courteous. The last claim I've had on Spring Street has not been completed yet. It’s a stopped up toilet. That started in December. I paid the deductible and I couldn't get anybody out to unstop it.
We complained from the start and there were probably three different plumbers who came out and tried to fix it. One of the plumbers said it wasn’t plumbed right and I still got a bathroom stopped up. Also, one plumber that was sent out there said he did the job and never showed up. He was out of Dallas-Fort Worth area. I hate these automated systems when you call in. Me and the computer just don’t get along. But I didn't know how they'd do anything any different any better other than follow up on their people like the plumber to make sure he got the job done and done it right. I’m trying to get somebody out here to fix it. I spoke with customer service and they said they’d get somebody out and nobody seemed to wanna get out. So, I’m just gonna go ahead and have it done on my own. Other than that, all of the other contractors that AHS has sent out have been great.

I had a leak in my kitchen sink faucet and it was draining water through the bottom of my cabinet and onto the floor. Getting someone on the phone took a little longer than usual but I was understanding because of everything that's going on. They're probably limited to staffing. Also, I did call on a Friday. Other than that, it was fine and it was fairly easy. I didn't hear anyone over the weekend so I figured the company may be closed. Then I didn't hear anything on Monday but I did hear from them on Tuesday and we scheduled it for Friday that week.
I heard from other people that when big appliances broke down, AHS was not very accommodating like they claim they are. But I haven't had that experience just yet because my big appliances have not broken down yet. I'd suggest though that people read the fine print and make sure what they cover and what they don't so you're prepared for what it is that you have to come out-of-pocket, like the pricing for Freon and things of that nature. Other than that, I definitely recommend the home warranty.

I got a call asking me if it would be all right if the plumbers came earlier than what they had scheduled. So that was wonderful. It's one of the first times that has ever happened 'cause usually, it's the opposite and you're waiting all day. But J & K Plumbing were there and not only did he find what had been wrong, he still couldn't figure out how it happened. A couple of my relatives had American Home Shield coverage and they've been really well with fixing home repairs. I went with them and I've had them for three years now. Sears came in to check my dryer that was giving out a burning odor. The tech did a great job. He took off the front of the dryer. It looks like the vent part was stuffed underneath with lint in it. He cleaned it all out, cleaned up the area, and asked me some questions about how old the dryer was. I let him know it was new. Then, he stated to follow up with them if I'll have any other issues with it, and it's working fine. I did my claim to AHS online and it was very simple and easy. I also had a claim on my heater. Over the past year, I've had a couple of AC issues. Most recently Home Shield sent Southern Air Conditioning to service my claim. I needed a washer installed. One company came out and they couldn't install it. They said that it could break and just left it there. They said to just keep putting WD-40 on it to soften it. We did, but when we tried to open it, it broke, and water started leaking out. So, then Lindsay came out to repair the damage. Right now, I’m in a very bad predicament. I’ve been out of a fridge for over a month. Way back in October, it started leaking. At that time, AHS sent another vendor, and it was a Freon issue. The vendor couldn’t repair it because it had to be soldered. So, they sent Astro Appliance, and they put the Freon in the fridge, but they did not solder it. So, then it kept leaking.
I had another issue again in February or March. Absolute Appliance came out and changed the board in the back of the refrigerator. But then 30 days later, the refrigerator started doing the same problem where it stops making ice, then the freezer stops, and then the fridge dies, it’s like in that sequence. At that time, I called back, and then AHS sent Absolute Appliance back since they were the ones that had worked on it. They came back and said that it couldn’t be repaired so they put in the call that it needed to be replaced. Then, at that time, American Home Shield said that they needed a second opinion.
They called back Astro Appliance, which was the first one that was out at the very beginning and then they sent one technician, they didn’t really know what was wrong. I had to wait another week and a half for another technician that came out that really knew what they were talking about and said that there's a major leak that’s going through the middle of the fridge and this couldn't be repaired. So, then it’s been two weeks, and I’m still waiting. I've reached out to customer service and they said that they had two calls on the contractor and they haven’t heard back from them. They put one call on Thursday and they said that they would hear back by Friday or Saturday. That was last week. I called back on Tuesday and they said they were gonna call the vendor again and see. It’s Thursday already and I still haven’t heard back.
I've had American Home Shield for over a decade now and their service used to be a lot better before than it is now. They have some good vendors, but definitely, the Astro Appliance is not one of them. I think that when American Home Shield brings in the RFPs for these vendors, they need to look at the whole picture. They want diversity, but they need to make sure that within that parameter, the vendors tend to the customer’s needs in a good manner. So, a little better vetting process, a good response on time, and people that we can understand what they’re saying. They need to reevaluate the vendors that are not good. But I still think that AHS tries their best.
Sandra,

Sears came out and fixed my refrigerator. The icemaker was not producing ice. I gave American Home Shield a call then they sent Sears out here. There was a little bit of a mix-up because I had previously submitted a claim three weeks earlier for a plumbing problem that I called back and told them to cancel because I figured out what the problem was. I was not needing a plumber, and they took out $75 prior to that. I told the rep, “Since you have the 75 bucks, just keep it and put it on this claim.” She got confused and was unable to do it. She did return the 75 bucks to me and then charged me another 75 bucks for the deductible. But other than that, it was perfectly fine.
The guy from Sears was very professional. He came in and saw what he needed to see. I explained to him what the problem was. He fixed it within 30 minutes and he was gone. I’m getting ice, so I’m happy. I’ve used American Home Shield several times in the past for different problems that I’ve had. If they weren’t able to get it right the first time, which I’ve had problems with my AC unit several years ago, they continuously sent somebody else out when the problem continued. So, I can’t complain. I have no problems with American Home Shield and I’ll use them pretty much until they change my mind on that.

The air conditioner stopped working. I went online to file a claim. I logged on, and then it asked if I need service, then it gave a list of categories, and I picked what I needed service for. It said that within 24 hours, I should be notified, a service technician would get ahold of me. The next day is when I got a confirmation that someone will get ahold of me. Nobody got ahold of me until that night. I'm not sure how that process works, but it could be ‘cause more than a high average number of people's things are not working ‘cause it was hot in my area.
When the guy from the contracting company came out, he was very professional, nice, straight to the point, and asked me a series of questions to make sure there wasn’t something else going on other than what I had thought it was, which was the fan motor. I was very impressed. The unit works the way it should. I'm new to this and I've never been a new homeowner. I come from living in an apartment so if I had anything wrong, I would go to the office, and they would come and fix it. This is a little different. We had a problem with the pool heater and American Home Shield sent out a company in the month of January. They said that it was some bad electrical contact and they did a quick repair. About a week and a half later, it stopped working. So, we called back and they sent the company back out again. It took a while for the company to get out there. They finally came out on the 24th of March and they mentioned at that time that they were going to order a part and try to repair it. Then they said, after about a month, that they could not get the part. The part wasn’t available, that that probably won’t take care of the problem, and that they were gonna request that the unit be replaced.
I had told them it had been like this for a couple of months and if they could hurry. They took forever. They never got it done. I also had a hard time getting in touch with American Home Shield because they always put me on a very long wait to talk to anyone. Finally, they escalated it up. I spoke to a gentleman at American Home Shield, and he said they'd just send someone else out there. The person that came out in May was Ponce Construction. Ponce Construction said about the same thing that the other person had said. They said that it was making a bad electrical contact. He fixed it quickly and he polished it off and reconnected it, and everything worked. So far, so good.
Ponce was very nice. The other contractor was also nice when they came out, but then for two and a half months, we never got that thing done. They never followed up. They said they were gonna do something and didn’t do it. I kept calling them and they kept on putting it off. Then I would call American Home Shield and American Home Shield would say, “We’re waiting for that paper. We haven’t got it yet. We’ll get in touch with them,” but it just wasn’t getting done.
American Home Shield should have taken the bull by the horns and said, “Okay, construction company number 1, you went out there. You saw this thing. They have been waiting for three weeks now. We need your claim form so that we can take care of this problem.” But they were dropping the ball. It wasn’t getting done. American Home Shield was the one that sent the person out there to fix it. They should be the one following up with them. I had to wait, followed up with them a lot. I was upset that it took so long to get that done and then upset that it took so long to finally say, “We’re gonna send someone else out there.” That could have been done two months ago.

Drain Masters inspected two toilets and noticed some puddling underneath. It wasn't a whole lot but trying to figure out what was going on, they found out that it was the seals underneath. The tech said it was a quick easy fix but they were cracked. The next thing that they did was our hot water heater. The pilot light wouldn't stay lit. He tried to do the repair that day. He had a new part, he put it on and said, "That was still the issue, wouldn't stay lit. Your hot water heater's gonna have to be replaced." So we had to wait a couple days, which I understood because they had to get the part. They brought in the new hot water heater, took out the old one, and put in the new one with which was supposed to be code updates but it wasn't necessarily code because ours didn't have one on there. It's just the new hot water heaters require that for it to be able to fit. They had to put those other parts on as well.
So far, Home Shield has been great. I've had to call in and I understand that with the pandemic going on, I've had to be on hold for a while. I got disconnected a couple of times. The previous times, I've had to try to call in and every time, depending on who I get, it was difficult to understand what the reps were saying and I've had to have them repeat it. So, when we were going over the contracts and stuff with one of the gentleman I spoke with, I had to say, "Okay, what did you say?" He's like, "D." I'm like, "As in delta? 14." But he was very nice.
Other than that, there was a time that Drain Masters got my service order twice. And they came out to fix a leak back in December or January. The only thing is they're so far away from where I live that when I called in to Home Shield this past time, I said, "Look, they were so expensive on the front end last time for quoting me to fix that leak underneath the floor,” which I understood, they didn’t know what they were looking at. But their quote was $2,300 to fix it. I had a local plumber come out and he's licensed, insured, everything. Home Shield said, "Yeah, you can use him but you're gonna have to front everything upfront and then when you send us the invoice, we'll reimburse you if we agree with it.” I was like, "Well, I kinda need a little more." Come to find out, when the guy who quoted me $1,200, half the price of Drain Masters, sent me the final bill, it was just over 600 bucks. That's a massive difference.
He said Home Shield way overquoted me and the contractor comes from Fort Smith which is an hour and 15 minutes away from me. He also said that I have plenty of other people that are much closer to me. Even though the contractor is not charging me mileage, Home Shield is throwing it into their cost because it's such a far drive. I understand that. What Home Shield quoted me and what I would pay for, and everything else like that is sometimes worth getting a second opinion because depending on how far somebody is out away from me, even though I may not be paying for it, their estimate is getting their mileage and stuff. But the turnaround for the invoice, me giving it to the contractor and then getting a check in the mail was fairly decent. I was about two weeks total, so that's reasonable.
I called in last time. The two issues I have is not being able to say, "Hey, my radius, there's people much closer to me than Drain Masters in Fort Smith." They did a great job. It's just the quote, to understand what they were looking at, you don't know until you get into the floor. So they're probably shooting it high. But what I got it repaired for was just so much cheaper using somebody local. And then, when I called them last time and I talked to somebody for over half an hour, we had to wait on hold for about 20 minutes and I understand. And then when I finally spoke to somebody and I talked to them for about 30 minutes, and then I called them the next day and said, "Hey, Drain Masters, they can't get here until then, they're gonna call in.” They said they called and waited about 30 minutes to talk to somebody. They said that they would not release the work order because they had no notes from me calling the previous day.
I was stuck with Drain Masters, which I was fine with. They also said when I talked to that guy that day, and I guess there were no notes made by him, it sounded like he said I would get the payment back for the service call. But then I had to rerun my card for a separate service call so it would go to a different vendor. And I said, "Well, that doesn't make sense. Can you not just change it in the system?" I said, "So now, I have to watch the charge to be refunded to my card and then a new charge put on my card right the second." And that doesn't happen overnight so you usually have to wait a couple of days for that to reflect. I don't want to go through all that trouble.
To make the long story short, overall, Home Shield has been pretty good. Everything that we had to do through them, like this last bill that I paid for a brand new water heater was a grand total of $154. Brand new, all the upgrades that are now required and everything, so that was pretty good. The leak was $2,200 back in January. The hot water heater and installment, I got a quote from Lowe's and they were going to charge me about $1,600, $1,700. When I ended up paying 154 out of pocket, I was fine with that.

We had a bunch of rain this spring and I noticed there was some kind of cable that was leaking water. It was dripping into the basement. So, I called AHS and Michels Power came out. WPS, the local electric company, came out too just 'cause they weren't sure if it was a live wire and there was water too. So they found out that it was not a live wire. It was an old power line coming into the house. So they just repatched the end of the wire which was a temporary solution for that.
We bought an older home in July of 2017. We weren't sure how long the appliances were good for and the age of them. So, stuff started failing the first year, and so we kept the policy with AHS after year one and we started paying on it, and we've had it ever since. I have a list of things that have failed, starting with the pool heater which crapped out the first year. The water heater started leaking from the bottom. It rusted out and that was replaced. AHS has been pretty responsive as far as getting a contractor here, so I'm pleased with that.
The claims submission is pretty easy. You go online and you tell them what's wrong, and then they'll link you up with a local contractor. In some cases, it says that I should call the folks but in most cases, the contractor calls me. I usually call the contractor myself 'cause I think they get multiple claims through or they're just busy. Michels Power is one of the better companies in our area. Then the guy who did the pool was out of Oshkosh, so maybe they should have a more local company for the pool stuff. But for the most part, I've been pretty pleased with the work that the people have done. But the premiums are getting kinda high. It's at 87 bucks a month. If it gets higher than that and towards 100 bucks, I'll just start looking at my budget. I'd probably reconsider and just put that towards savings, for a rainy day kind of thing. But so far, we've more than broke even with the stuff that has failed.
Jerrad,

We just bought our house and we've had a number of issues. One of them was with the toilet. We have four toilets and two of them had just stopped flushing at the same time and were continuously running. I did a claim online via the American Home Shield website and it was user-friendly. I was able to identify the number of toilets and issues with it. High Priority came out and provided professional service. The tech was good to me too. He was a real nice guy and he gave preventative maintenance tips.
Our toilet is working well with the new equipment that they put in there. It has been calibrated to a low-flush toilet like it is for the county that we live in. But it was a regular full-flush toilet. It's kinda iffy. But with the repair done, it afforded me a very nice sleep and my fiancee's not upset with me anymore. This particular experience was fine. But my fiancee is a usability expert and for her, the website needs to be redone a little bit. There's nowhere to put a comment in as to what's actually happening.
We are waiting now for another claim regarding our AC. We have two units. The guy who came out to fix our HVAC the first time could only work on one because there was nowhere on the website to say we had two units. And when you call in right now, I had to wait 57 minutes before I could talk to somebody. My fiancee called in twice and waited 27 minutes the first time and 30-plus minutes the second time. Still, she never got anybody.

Our shower was leaking inside the wall. The first time that Lake Plumbing came out was to open and inspect the issue. They found that the leak was a little bit beyond the capability of the parts that he had. Then he made a second appointment. He also informed us that we had to cut the drywall and the firewall out ourselves because that was not covered under warranty. So we cut an access square. The plumber's second trip out was two days later. He did a really good job. American Home Shield was very responsive as to what we needed. When we filed the claim, they gave us a call on a Friday on the same day that we initiated the claim. The whole process was very good.

As a responsible homeowner, I wanted to protect and take care of my most-prized investment, and that is my home. So, I chose American Home Shield to handle some of the things that I can’t take care of. Recently, we had leaking at our food disposal and a leaking shower faucet. I called the 1-800 number of AHS then I gave them my reference number and stated the issue. I went through the automated prompts and the process was very simple. They gave me a four-hour window on when to expect the contractors and when the techs from Draingo came out, they met my expectations on both claims. I understand that with this COVID-19 coming in, they had masks on. Other than that, they arrived on time and were very professional about giving me knowledge about what would take to repair the problem. And since the service, everything is performing like there never was a problem.

Airmax Heating & Cooling came and did a really good job. They were helpful and resolved things quickly. The air people from American Home Shield were good but I think some of the plumbing and things we've had had a lower level quality of service.

We've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and this is the first time I've ever used it. We had a leak in the refrigerator, and it was getting into our hardwood floors. We called it in and we had to wait three days for Gilmore's Home Solutions to get here, but it was the holiday weekend. The gentleman that came out was very good. He made the fix right away and he did a great job. We were very satisfied even though we have a little bit of damage on our hardwood floors from the leak. Another thing I'm disappointed with is the monthly dues keep going up and up and up. My girlfriend told me that she uses one that is half the price. Because I've only used American Home Shield once out of 10 years, I hate to pay that high price, but for right now, we're going to stick with them. I'd never give up having insurance, but it's still a little concerning with the price going up all the time.

Rockland Plumbing is good. They're doing their work based on purely the log inspection. If the issue is not properly written in the log, they do not care about it. I haa a problem with the toilet that's not flushing properly. The water is not stopping. That's all I can tell because I'm not a plumber. The contractor identified the flapper as the problem and there is also a problem with the spigot. There are some other problems there but they said, “We will only fix one, we don’t fix other two because it's not there in the work order.” The work order is already telling them there is a problem in the bottom around the toilet area. They won't fix more than one issue in the same area.
AHS wants to provide good service. They did a good job for me but these last two months, it's pathetic. These particular agents they sent this last month and current month were very particular on the instructions, and I ended up paying $100 service charge even though the fix is only $50. AHS had to pay $85 to them and I had to pay $100. They're making AHS and customers use them more frequently for a specific issue. I would like to talk to AHS but unfortunately, I have to wait six hours on the call. Other than that, I love American Home Shield. They're very good. I've been with them for almost four years now, and I have three homes that are all part of American Home Shield.

American Home Shield got Multiple Services to come out for an AC issue, and they fixed it. Submitting the claim online has been easier. I sat on hold for over 45 minutes because I wanted to request them. I didn't want to get a random company because the last company that they had come out was full of BS and tried to get us to buy extra things that we didn't need. Multiple Services is a more honest company. AHS needs to check out the people that they use or their services as far as lawsuits. But the home warranty is very good.

He came within an hour, and he and a worker climbed on the roof, did their thing and fixed it up. They were great and the guy was nice. He said that the system is intact and looks good. It just needed Freon and he had to put 4 pounds of refrigerant in the cooling system. I had to pay him 200 bucks with some change. He said that American Home Shield didn't cover it. They only cover the first $10 of the pound and it was expensive. But it cooled the house down and worked perfectly.

AHS has always done a good job for us. Submitting a claim is much easier than it used to be. You just go online and click, click. I love it. Now that you've got the online thing, I haven't really needed to talk to a person. The initial guy from Rush Heating & Cooling came out for my AC unit. He may have been a newer employee and he thought he knew he had diagnosed the problem, and he had to get a part. A lady called me a little later that day and said that the initial guy that came out consulted with a senior person, and they were gonna send the senior person out. The senior person came out and solved it right away. He was very thorough. That was good that they didn't just assume, and also that their employee was comfortable enough to let them know that he wasn't quite sure and that they were professional enough to send a senior person out to make sure. Grade A Plumbing fixed the two plumbing issues I had. I submitted the claim right from American Home Shield's website. We've had American Home Shield for over a year and that's how I most likely have done most of my claims. I loved them. They were awesome. The guys got here early. They were quick, honest and they knew what they were doing. They went to get the part, came back, and fixed everything.
When we were washing dishes, water was coming out of the base and we had water all over the place there and Grade A Plumbing fixed that. Then the one upstairs was also spurting out at the base and they fixed that as well. It worked great for like a couple of days. But now when you turn it on, there are no problems, but when you turn it off, you gotta move it around to get the drip to stop. It drives me crazy. I don't wanna get hit with another $75, so I'm trying to figure out a way to call Grade A Plumbing.

I filed a claim to repair my refrigerator in March 2020, AHS sent one vendor and told me he could not do anything because the refrigerator was bolted to the ground which was not true, the second vendor came two weeks later and told me I needed a part which he ordered, it took the past two months to arrive, in the middle of a pandemic, my refrigerator was not working, lost all of my food and had to wait an hour on the phone to get customer service!!
So the part finally came in and the third vendor came to install the part but now my refrigerator was leaking water. So when he got there he asked if this was going on when we came the last time and I said yes, so he went on to tell me that the part he had would not repair this and unplugged the refrigerator. AHS reassigned another vendor who came to assess the problem, they could not do anything because they said the refrigerator had been unplugged so they could not make an assessment. Now AHS wants to reassign my repairs to a fourth vendor. This is absolutely crazy, I have been without a refrigerator for over three months and AHS does not seem care. They do not have support services for customers with unique horror stories such as mine and you have to wait an hour to get anyone on the phone and then they put you back on hold to review the problems. AC went out on 4/15/2020, company contracted by AHS responded on 4/19/20. After troubleshooting Fast Response found that our compressor was bad. Also while troubleshooting the tech broke a part that connects to the breaker. Which we found out would require an electrician to come out and repair. The compressor had to be ordered but was not ordered until 4/22/2020. Nothing that has to be ordered is expedited per the Rep so it took until 6/2/2020 for the compressor to come in, but it was not until we called Fast Response that we found out that it was in so that we could schedule for it to be installed.
On 6/4/2020 Fast Response replaced our compressor and closed the ticket as completed. But we still need an electrician due to what their tech damaged. We received a email from AHS in regards to the company that they issued our ticket to. But I noticed that we're responsible for the service fee. Why when the AC tech is the one who broke the part and we're told that they will pay for the repairs. Tried calling AHS but it is impossible to reach anybody due to the extremely long wait times on the phone. It is suggested that you go online to resolve your issues. But there is nowhere online to address your concerns. Could someone please assist us with this matter. We like our package with AHS but there has to be a better system when it comes to making contact.

Worst possible company and customer service. Minimum 1 hour (consistently) waiting to get hold of a customer service representative. Took 40 days to reach a diagnosis on the fridge. The contractor specifically told me that he would recommend replacing it. But when that diagnosis reached them, the diagnosis changed to "we are not able to fix, go to another company".
Asked them to go talk to the contractor company, and resolve this. The customer representative didn't want to. She gave me the option to either wait for an official mail from them (saying to go to another company), or go with another company right now. Also, the contractor company was just not professional, being late the three times they came to my house, and each time 3+ hours. And took them three trips to diagnose, where they could have reached that from the first trip. After I asked for cancelation, things were super smooth. Probably because the cost of fixing the fridge was higher the premium I paid. Asked to be transferred to the complaint department. I was put on wait for 15 extra minutes, where I gave up and hanged up.

I never had to do anything other than to reply to a survey. He was quick, courteous, outstanding, and on point. The process was simple from the time when he first came out, looked at it, knew what the issue was, explained it, and then set up a time around my schedule, which was very busy. Updated on 06/27/2020: I would like to share my experience with American Home Shield again. At the time of taking contract, I was informed that I can cancel the service anytime without any cost. Now, that I had very bad experience with AHS, I decided to cancel the service and another bummer came from Cancellation department. Alex from Cancellation department mentioned that I have to pay cancellation fees and when I informed her that I was not informed about any cancellation fees, her response was Sales team do not know about cancellation charges. So, seems like this company is running very unprofessionally where Sales team do not know how other department in the company running.
Original: I had a very bad experience with American Home Shield. Couple of weeks back my basement got flooded due to broken Sump Pump. I called AHS for immediate service, they said technician will come in 24 to 48 hours. It took 4 days for technician to come. In the meantime, I had to take out water using bucket to clean my basement. Technician came after 4 days, put a recommendation for replace and then request got closed/declined after 4 days and again I had to open the case for technician visit.
During these days, I was trying to call AHS and waiting time to talk to anybody in AHS is 4-6 hours. So, basically, you can't even complain about the bad service. Technician again came and again recommended replacement. Now, the request is pending from last 3 days. Weather is bad again and I do not know what's going to happen in my basement if it rain again. So, in short, very bad response time, nobody to receive your complain on phone, nobody reply on Facebook or other social media.

The man from Astro Appliance was exceptionally knowledgeable. I have three refrigerators. One of them was freezing and creating a sheet of ice that would stop the function of the freezer. So, the man came and diagnosed it right away quickly that he needs to first remove the ice. And then after that, he proceeded to clear the passageway that was causing the problem. He solved it within 45 minutes, and everything worked fine. He was very good.
I called American Home Shield to submit my claim and used their automated system. The only one suggestion I have is to make it simple. The certain things that they require are not listed on the automatic platform. They should have at least a way to access a representative. That would be very helpful if they could add that to their automatic system.
Having the warranty is very important. One doesn't use it often but if something happens, you'd call someone who is knowledgeable like this man who came to fix the fridge. It would be very reassuring for any person. I would recommend strongly that people always subscribe to it. Last year, I subscribed to their new electronic service for their computers. I'm thinking of canceling it in the next couple of months. They told me I have to wait a year before they cancel it. So, I'm going to do it.
The American Home Shield electronic servicing is absolutely useless. If you have some problem with one of your technology like your computer, your Blu-ray player, or your television, the first thing they tell you is, "Well, send it to us." You gotta go find a box to fit it in. You have to find the shipping company and you have to take it back to American Home Shield. Someone comes to your home and see if they can take care of it or they cannot. For us to send it to the person is not practical. So, I subscribed to the Geek Squad instead when I needed someone to come and see what's wrong with my computer. Even in this environment of pandemic, in two weeks someone came and fixed it, then left. Also, you pay much less to them than you pay to American Home Shield.

The water heater started leaking in the tank, and the carpet down the hallway got flooded. I called to submit the claim for it and I waited an hour on hold. The rep, nevertheless, was good. While the contractor from JQ Air & Electric was quick to get it installed, it took a while for them to send the request in to American Home Shield and for them to approve it. The approval took a couple of days, and we had no hot water for about five days -- that was something that could have been improved. But, other than that, it was good.
The contractor stayed in communication with me this time, but last year, when we had a claim on our air conditioner, it took them two months to get it installed because they were busy. It was in the middle of summer. They gave me a certain day that it would be installed, and the day came. So, I called them and the guy said, "I got pushed back." I had to keep calling and bugging them before they came do it. We have had American Home Shield for about two years now and it helps. I am so pleased with American Home Shield over the company that I had. They were 500% better than the other company I had.
The contractors were very pleasant, they're very gracious. I thanked them for wearing their masks. We've had two calls now with American Home Shield since the first of the year and they are just special. They're professional. They come in, they put their slippers on their shoes. The plumber didn't. We do have a compromised person in my home. When the young man came for the plumbing, he did not have his mask on when he got to the door. And I said, "You are gonna put a mask on before you come in," and so, he did.
I absolutely love AHS. I had a company that was horrible. And they have been such a breath of fresh air and that's why I switched to them when my contract was up. There was no hesitation. We've been with AHS for 10 years and I like the security of knowing that if we have a major problem, they're there. We had a water heater go a couple of years ago and there was, what I thought, was a pretty large portion of expenses to us, but for the most part, it's worked. But they had to come out and fix our dishwasher a couple of times and they never performed well, and our microwave too. So, we just went to buy new appliances. It has its value but at the same time, it doesn’t necessarily do exactly as they advertise.
AHS needs to be very clear that the monthly payment doesn’t cover all the costs, that there's some shared out of pocket, in some instances, more than others. On the water heater, we paid off $800 out of pocket. But just recently with the pool, it was the deductible. The contractors who came out did it in a timely manner and were professional and it’s working.

I had bought the new washer and AHS was supposed to reimburse me up to $648 for a new one, and I have not received that yet. It's been more than 10 days. The technician did the right thing with the washer but we've had issues with him on our dishwasher. American Home Shield had to get somebody else out here to look at it. And that was kind of unacceptable. Also it is hard to get to talk to somebody at AHS. There's always a very, very long wait.
I've had AHS for at least 15 years. It was convenient because when something breaks, you don't have to go look for a contractor, they do it for you. The less you have to talk to American Home Shield, the better. If you can do everything online, that's much better. However when you go online and make a service request, there should be a part where you can check off "other" if it's not one of those boxes they want you to check. Also if you have two of your items out at the same time, it'd be nice if you could put a notation in there. One time an animal chewed the wire of two of our air conditioners at the same time. I called the guy out here and he said he is only supposed to do one. We had to call back to American Home Shield while he was here.
I do like the idea of paying American Home Shield now instead of paying the contractor. Also, I noticed when we had a plumber come out, it assigns a plumber by default, but I don't like that plumber, because I've had him before. If it would let me pick another plumber, that would be handy. My biggest complaint with them is if they owe you money, forget it. You can't get it out of them. There have been times where I've overpaid on the service charge for some reason and they said they would refund in a couple of weeks. I called and called, and after about six months, I gave up.

I couldn’t get the door to go down. It worked one minute, and the next minute, I went to go put my car up, and couldn’t get in my garage. It would only go up so far and then it would go down, and it was weird. So, I had to have help. I called a claim in to American Home Shield and spoke to a rep who said that they had set it up and I would get a phone call. Magic City Door was out within a day. They were great and everything’s been fine. The spring of my door broke within three days after they were out, and the spring was not covered. I called them and said, “I have a problem. Can y’all come back out?” When they came out, they said it was not covered by my warranty, which is fine. They were very nice and helped me get things taken care of where I could use the door again.
American Home Shield is great and they’re there for their customers. I’ve enjoyed using American Home Shield. I’ve used them in my previous house and in this house, I had to wait a whole year because the person bought someone else’s warranty, which wasn’t worth the paper that I never got. I never received any kind of paperwork from them and they’re hounding me now, trying to get me back but I tell them, “No. I have who I need. I went back to the people I used in my previous house ‘cause I didn’t have any problems with them.” I'd tell others that I enjoy American Home Shield's services because they helped me to repair things in my house when I wouldn’t even know where to go to get things repaired.

I put in three claims: the furnace, the hot water heater, and the stove. I usually call for my claims. Once I speak to somebody with my claims, they’re always prompt. The guy came and checked my furnace first, but he had to order some parts for that. We’re squared away with that. But then, this other guy came out to check my hot water heater but he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. He said I had an electrical problem. So, I put in another claim for the electrical, but they couldn’t find anybody in my network. So, they gave me a contract to find somebody to get that job done. I found somebody and I just talked with him today. He has to get a permit to do what he has to do.
I had an experience with a contractor a couple of years ago and I wouldn’t recommend him to come back. But that was only once. He acted like he wasn’t too knowledgeable anyway. So, another guy came and fixed my problem in 15 minutes. That's what I've been looking at. I don't look at professionalism. I don’t look at anybody with a lot of lip service. If you can do the job, go ahead. But if you can’t, you’re going to leave. I’ve been dealing with Home Shield for a couple of years now and I would highly recommend them. I had no problem getting results in a timely fashion. I got a lot of family member who is member now.

I went on my phone when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield and said that the icemaker wasn’t working. They charged me my deductible and then, they sent me an email or a text telling me the person who was gonna come to my home. They told me within a day to expect the contractor between this date and this time. The guy came to the house and he was good. He was efficient, very friendly and followed all the COVID-19 protocols with the mask and gloves. He identified the problem and he needed to order a part. He told me what it was and he ordered it. Then when he got it, he called and said that he was gonna come back and put it in, and he did. Since then, the icemaker is working fine. I’ve had other experiences with AHS that were not so good but this one was good.

My kitchen sink and my bathroom sink were leaking. American Home Shield sent a guy from Mr. Rooter out and he did the bathroom. But I have a lifetime warranty on my kitchen. So they had to get the part and then they came back and completed it. The guy was nice and very professional. He was new and he brought somebody else with him when he came back to make sure he did it right.
I've had American Home Shield for over 15 years and I’ve had them for two homes. In the first year, they gave me a break ‘cause I had them for two homes. But in the second year, they didn’t give me a break anymore. Then I sold that house so now, I’ve had them here in this house for 10 years or more. I normally call late and the call goes in the queue. Then there's always a wait time no matter what you do or who you call.
American Home Shield should make sure that they'd vet the people they pick better. I had a guy who did my stove. Then the company came back and said that due to misuse, they wouldn't be replacing the handle on the stove. The handle didn’t really need replacing but there was no misuse. I didn’t push it because the stove was working and the guy did a good job and fixed it. He had to come back again ‘cause he had to get a part. I don't like that they’ll come and say misuse even if it's not and that’s what they do to get out replacing it. They also need to stop increasing the monthly price because you pay for the monthly service and then you pay for when the tech comes out.

There were several items on the repair request we have for AHS. There were three faucets that were dripping and those had been repaired satisfactorily. But the first, biggest and the most important job is we had no hot water. It is still not replaced and that’s the thing I’m unhappy about. I've had terrible communication problem. I waited on hold for a total of an hour and a half one day and never got through. And then when I finally got through on another call on a Monday they didn’t have any information for me yet even though the repair guy was here on Friday. They claimed they didn’t have it from the plumber yet even though I know it was sent electronically.
Finally, they got it and they called me yesterday to inform me that the portion I would have to pay is $690 or they’ll give me $650 in lieu of replacing. They want to charge me not only the 125 service fee but another 690 in miscellaneous fees and what they call “Modifications” to put it in. That’s ridiculous. I’m currently shopping around for other estimates right now. Since they took four days to get back to me I’m gonna take a few days to get back to them.
I've had AHS for almost one year. The policy expires on June 14th and that’s the other bonus contention. I hope somebody at American Home Shield listens to this. You wanna renew it for 27% more money. I paid 500 bucks and something without having a claim. They sent me a renewal notice for $715 before I ever made the claim. That’s partly why I decided to start making claims. I was like, “Man, this company, they haven’t given me anything. And here, they’re wanting more money.” So I’ll be shopping that too before I renew. It’s terrible to raise the price on a existing customer. AHS is terrible and I’m very, very dissatisfied.

I love Care Appliance Repair. They were awesome. My washer was broken. American Home Shield had sent a different guy and he said he changed something and he just left. I called them back, but he didn't come. I called to complain with Home Shield, but they didn't take my complaint. But then I didn't want him back because I felt threatened by him, so I was glad he didn't come back.
I waited about a month having difficulty with the washer until I called again, and paid the $75 again. The guys from Care came out and said, “No. A quarter could not get stuck in the machine,” like the other guy said. One of the guys said, “It doesn’t fit. I don’t think the other guy wanted to do the job.” Those two guys are awesome. They came out twice, but they got everything running amazingly.
I've had American Home Shield for about 20 years and whenever I called to get something fixed, it's usually right away. I never have any problems. The only thing was when I tried to report the first guy who came for the washer, it was like no one could help me. I had to end up paying another $75 because I chose to wait. So, I ended up having to pay another $75 so that they could fix it when it should’ve been fixed the first time. That was the first time I’ve had difficulty with them. Otherwise, I really like the Home Shield.

My air conditioner was not properly cooling. I submitted my claim to American Home Shield and had a bit of a problem getting it into their database. I can go online but it's somewhat difficult for me. I’m a Realtor and it gets confused with my personal and my other ones. Apart from that issue, submitting my claim was easy and it was quickly handled. AHS's contractor, Outlaws Heating & Air, came to fix my problem. While I've had some vendors through AHS that I'm glad I don't have anymore, Outlaws has worked for me in the past and the tech who came for them was very professional and courteous. I met him at the door and stepped away. He was good a social distancing too which was pleasing. He looked at what he needed to look at and got the job done. Afterward, he was gone.
I'm a realtor and I have several rentals which are covered by AHS's warranty as well. They are a company I use professionally and I recommend them to all my clients. Often, an AHS coverage is what I get them for a housewarming gift. I really like AHS and that we have a local representative at our location named Rebecca. She goes above and beyond. I had bubbling in my toilet and there was water coming in the basement back up. The claim submission with American Home Shield was difficult 'cause I waited forever on the line 'till somebody answered. They didn't answer right away 'cause they were dealing with everyone. Sometimes it has taken 35 to 40 minutes before one to answer. Then their reps were a little difficult to understand. I had to repeat myself several times 'cause sometimes I'd get hoarse. I also told them to put my cell number instead of the home number but they always put the home number. They still didn't transfer it out.
When I told the AHS reps what was going on, they didn't know how to put it down. I told them that I was having water back up coming in from the toilet. Then the plumber showed me that it just said toilet backup so they didn't have the equipment and then they had to come back out again the next day. The plumbers are okay. But I'd have to call them because they might've used some type of thing that would go down the toilet and they scraped my toilet and toilet seat.

Our air conditioning was not working. I called American Home Shield and they referred me to Steinmetz. It’s not the first time we’ve had them and they did as good a job as they could. My issue is that we have an old air conditioning furnace, and I’m disappointed that the American Home Shield, in this day and age, would postpone replacing to the point of danger. It’s getting to the point that parts are not available. We have to wait longer because they have to order parts. I’m afraid we’re gonna have a fire, we’re gonna have damage, we’re gonna be gone, the air conditioner will go out, and then food will spoil. I’m really concerned about that. There needs to be some sort of a stricter guideline on making certain that there’s safety involved. We’ve paid into this system for years. I was worried last night. I felt it was extremely hot in here. I first checked the thermostat. It was 80 and it was set at anywhere from 75 to 78.
I’ve been happy all along up until I feel like I don’t think AHS is looking at the consumer’s need and our situation because the problem is getting worse, not getting better. It is getting scary and it’s the equipment talking. I think it is worn out. It’s like they’re trying to save money, and I’ve been spending money all this time, and I feel like that’s why I’m with American Home Shield is that I like a home warranty service when they perform the way they should. They’ve always taken our calls, they’ve always given referrals, but all of a sudden, when it gets down to a major piece of equipment in our home, it’s like they’re patching it together so there’s a lot of minus signs on this thing.
Are you still needing assistance?

I can get a hold of American Home Shield when I have a claim and they send out a work person here to my home. But I would be waiting 45 minutes for a call to be answered. I just wish they would answer the phone sooner. I have an issue that has been going on for a while. The icemaker does not stop making ice and I reported it about two weeks ago. But there’s another problem and it hasn’t been resolved. Plus I don’t want anybody in my home because I’m an elderly person and I didn’t wanna be exposed to coronavirus.
But the gentleman who came was a very nice guy. He did his work and explained to me what was going on. A new icemaker had replaced the old one but the problem continues. Apparently, it has something to do with the little wheels on the tray. Two wheels are missing and apparently, those are not shutting off the lever that shuts off the icemaker. It needs another part and the contractor is gonna let me know in a few days when another part comes in. Hopefully, it’ll come in and fix the issue.

I had a code that the dishwasher was leaking. I went online, put the claim in and it was taken care of. The tech looked over things and he saw a big leak. He assessed that the leak was being caused by the stuff around the door and he ordered a part. When the part came in, I notified them, and they sent out another man to install it. The man told me that there was no leak around the door. It was something else. He fixed it and it was fine. Then I noted that I was getting a leak in another portion underneath the sink and he came back out. He said when he pulled the dishwasher out to do something, it loosened the connection from where the water comes into the dishwasher. So he tightened that. I checked it and there was no water. So he fixed it and they’ve done their job.
I had American Home Shield for several years. I stopped them and I got somebody else which was a lower price. But after three months, I canceled them out because they were absolutely unreliable and they didn’t do anything. So I came back to American Home Shield. With the warranty, I’m assured that if I have a leak, they will tend to it. They take a while, but it'll get done. So I have to take the good with the bad.
I had a washer/dryer combination claim that I called in but they could not repair it. They told me to go and buy another one and they gave me an estimate on how much they would pay for it. It seemed that in the communication online, they could’ve bought it at the price that they quoted and replaced it. But they verbally had told me I have to go out and buy my own, and it cost me $300 or $400 above what they estimated the value of the machine.
I went to three different places to get the same machine that I had and the prices all were within $100 of themselves and it was still $300 or $400 more than the amount that they paid me for it. Everything else over the years that I’ve had American Home Shield, they have done as much as they can do to repair anything. But they don’t wanna replace. If they can’t repair it, then I know that I’m gonna still would pay more than what they’re gonna pay for the unit, when and if it comes.

Summer last year, we had an issue with the air conditioner and AHS sent somebody here. They changed the compressor and then I paid them for coming. Then they said that I didn't have coolant. So they put the Freon in which cost me around $450. This summer, we turned the air conditioner on and it worked for two days and then again, it was not cooling. I called AHS again and they sent Fast Response. The guy said I have a leak on a basement. He fixed the leak. He changed the old piece and put a new piece. I had to put Freon again so that was another $450. I don’t think that’s fair because I already paid for the Freon last year, and now, I have to pay again because the person that was sent here last year never checked if I had a leak or not.
When I have a claim, I usually call AHS and they'll ask what is the issue, whether it’s air condition, then ask if essential and I always say essential. After that, they'll ask me what is wrong and then they'll say somebody will contact me. Then I get an email with whoever is coming to fix it. The contractor will call me the day they are supposed to show up, like an hour earlier before they arrive to make sure somebody is at home. The contractors are always very nice and professional. When they’re talking, they seem like they know what they’re talking about. But the first tech that came out for the AC didn’t know what he was talking about because he never checked for leaking.
In the past, AHS fixed the washer and they replaced the dryer. It was a very good experience. They were excellent. The last time they fixed the air conditioner, I thought it was going to be a good experience too. I’m already paying for my warranty every month and when I put a claim, I have to pay $75 to put a claim. But then I had to pay $450 for the Freon. I called AHS and asked what they were gonna do about it but nobody called me back.

This was the first time I ever used my home insurance and I'm still confused on what's even covered. I really don't even know that type of stuff. I have a lot of other issues and things I need to get fixed, but I don't even know what's covered. When I got the insurance, I paid an extra for a swimming pool. But then I was talking to my neighbor and he said that most homeowners insurance doesn't cover swimming pools. I'm confused if I should even bother with that.
When I had a leaking showerhead, I tried to get somebody on the phone but that was impossible. That was the second call that I attempted to make to Home Shield in the past month. I'm talking about waiting 45 minutes on the phone. And that's why I went through the link on the newsletter. The website then said that someone would contact me within the next 48 hours. SAP Services called me the next morning.
The tech was great. He put in a new cartridge. Even if I would have disassembled it, I wouldn't have known what it was. And then I learned that there's a cartridge behind there that every once in a while needs to be replaced. Now I know next time. He was really helpful. When I submitted the claim, I was pretty sure I put two leaks, but on the tech's work order, when he arrived, it just said one leak. So, he can just fix the one leak and he told me what I needed to do to fix the other leak. It's something minor that would cost me probably $10, which is definitely better than the $75 I have to pay.

He was really good at communicating with us, which we really appreciate with our handymen. It was an awesome experience as always, and I love American Home Shield. We wouldn’t be able to live without it.
We've had coverage with American Home Shield since we bought the house in 2016. I immediately signed up for it knowing that we would need it because we ourselves are not the handiest of people. When we first bought our first townhouse in 2002, we got American Home Shield as a gift from the Realtor. And then, because we were so budget-conscious and not making a lot, I canceled it. I regretted canceling it because things would begin to break. So, when we bought the new townhouse, we were like, “We have to get this. It’s a good investment.” It has certainly become exactly that.

I've had American Home Shield for several years and they've been pretty good. I just renewed it a month ago because I didn't wanna buy new appliances. $100 was a lot better than 1,000. I had a guy from PDX Appliance Repairs show up and he did what he was supposed to do, and left. I submitted the claim for it online and everything was easy.

When I received the flyer, my neighbors and other people keep telling me that when they purchased their home first, being that I live by myself, a home warranty is something good to have. They have used American Home Shield in the past and that had reliable service. Ace Heating & Cooling came out recently for my claim. They looked at the unit, diagnosed exactly what was the issue, resolved it in less than 30 minutes, and were on their way. They were very efficient.

Submitting this claim was pretty straightforward and Changing Winds Heating & A/C came out. They reported that something that would align to a piece of the equipment had lost its O-ring and the condenser didn’t start. It shorted out the capacitor and the Freon leaked out. The tech fixed those issues and made sure that the condenser would start. He also refilled the unit with Freon, which costs me about $420. I didn’t realize Freon was that expensive. But the unit seems to be working now.

Over the many years that we've had AHS, they've been good. We always call when putting in a request and they normally answer in a relatively timely manner. The "We are all hearing of COVID, so we can't get to you" recording on their message machine needs to go away though. Overall, it's a good service. Recently, they sent Affordable Heat and Air and they were excellent. The service call was very quick and the young man was extremely polite and seemed to know what he was doing. We just bought a new home and we had a choice of any number of plans and we went with AHS.

Georgia Boy Electric came. Because of the virus everything was a little behind. The tech couldn’t tell what the issue was because my stove was so old. I had to have it replaced. It didn’t take long once we got it settled. I paid more than what they gave me for the stove, but the stove was old. I just wasn’t happy that it wasn’t at 36-inch. My old stove was a 36-inch, and I had to get a 30-inch one. So now, I got a gap that I have to fix. Another thing I didn’t really like on the new one is it doesn’t have a cover. My old stove has a griddle but it had a cover. Also, this stove doesn’t change to five eyes. It just stays four with the griddle. My old stove had five eyes. But other than that, the new stove is good.

We called American Home Shield when our pump stopped working and they acted and got us the information for the vendor quickly. I received an email or a text confirmation saying that we should be contacted within 24 hours of the submission, but we were able to get in touch with the vendor within the 24 hours. It was quick and it went well. Cool Pools came out, diagnosed the problem, let us know what was going on, and kept us informed. They did a good job.
I’ve been checking on our pump every day and everything seems to be working properly now. The kids are able to swim, and the pool is clean again, so it’s good, especially when it’s getting hot. All in all, American Home Shield has been great. It’s good peace of mind knowing that when things go wrong, we have somebody we can call and get this stuff worked out.

We submitted the claim online and doing it that way was great. But when we tried to reach somebody, sometimes it took a of couple hours on the phone. My wife just put it in speaker and did her chores or whatever. And then, she might call at 9 o'clock and answer at 11:00. But she just put it on speaker so she can hear if somebody picked it up on the phone. But to reach somebody over the phone is really hard. Home Shield should make phone call system more reachable. But even with everything, like especially the one where somebody comes, like the plumber or somebody else, they were precise, and said what time he would come and follow up. That was very good.
We had a leaking a tub. Because it was leaking, we just capped it so it kind of stopped before we resolved the problem. We capped it so there was no leakage and no more damage under the tub. And then, we called Home Shield and they said, “We can not cover this because it's capped. So, if you let it go, and then, the plumber sees where it's coming from, then probably we will take care of it.” I think we should just plug it back in or I don't know. I'm not thinking about it yet. I don't need to fix it. The contractor told me that it’s hard to justify what the problem was. He said the first thing, same thing he was thinking, that it was a main valve. So he said if I went ahead and ordered a valve and installed everything, and it kept leaking, then I have to keep forward and do something else.
He said, “Let me come talk and explain this to Home Shield.” And then, he said, “Once I tell them everything, then I’ll call you back.” And then, he did everything, and somebody from Home Shield called us and said, “Well, we will not cover this because we can’t find out what the problem is, because it was capped.” After I called back the plumber who was in our house, and told him, “Can you go ahead and plug it back in?” He said, “You have to pay for that.” I said, “Okay, I will.” But he never came back. I didn't get back to him so far.
I had a few claims and everything was perfect. I had a dishwasher and Home Shield did some for courtesy for me for the oven. They replaced the oven for me and I feel good. It’s just that I don't know about this plumbing issue. I have to figure out something. I just didn’t go really close to it yet. It's going good so far except that I have to solve this little problem. Everything was great. Home Shield is pretty good.

We had no power on some outlets. I requested for service online and a technician came out in only a couple of days. His name was Joe from City First Electric and he was very professional, very helpful, and I'm very satisfied with his work. Home Shield is helpful when we have issues with appliances and anything around the house. The $75 per service seems reasonable. The monthly payment of 90 something dollars a month seems reasonable. We’ve used them a lot. However, there was this one time when our dishwasher was not working, and we had service for four to five times with Home Shield, and with two different vendors, but they couldn’t figure it out.
I asked Home Shield if they could just replace the dishwasher since it was not working. It wasn’t covered. Home Shield would keep sending technicians to fix it, but the problem still existed. So, we just ended up replacing the appliances. Our washer and dryer were of the same issue as well, and we just ended up replacing them ourselves. That would be something that Home Shield could improve later on. If there’s an appliance that stopped working and couldn’t be fixed anymore, that some help with the replacement would be better than not covering anything.

I have had the warranty for a few years. Used it a year ago for a plumbing problem. Took them 10 days to get someone here. The technician did fix the leak when he finally got here. On April 19th of this year, I placed a service call for my refrigerator, which had quit working. They scheduled Sears to come out on May 14th. When I complained about the service date being so far out, the representative told me that was the best I was going to get so I needed to keep that. When Sears came out, they needed to get a part. They ordered the part which came two days later. However, they couldn't get back here until June 2nd to finally fix the refrigerator. I had to purchase a new refrigerator because I couldn't go that long without a working refrigerator. If you are going to pay for service, you should get the service when you need it.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Lord knows I’m glad the seller of my home paid for this. They charge for every time they send someone out and most of the time there’s a loophole which causes whatever you’re calling for to not be covered. Plus you’ll never be able to get someone on the line to speak with you anyway. WORD OF ADVICE! 1. If you’re buying an existing home expect to make repairs that inspections can’t find. 2. Whether you’re buying new or new to you do what your grandpa did and HAVE AN EMERGENCY FUND! This company will paint a pretty picture but it’s cheaper just to pay for it out of your own money. Yes it costs you more to pay these ????’s. They are the only ones who benefit from this relationship. If you don’t have an emergency fund then DO NOT BUY A HOUSE!

Any time we call American Home Shield, it is a nightmare. They need more help, I think. And you could tell the people are reading a script, which I get, but when you ask for a supervisor, you should be able to talk to a supervisor. I had a pool heater issue and they said it was a button. I said it wasn't, it wasn't heating. I called American Home Shield multiple times and they kept saying it was electrical, but it wasn't. I don’t even know where they came up with electrical. And I would call and be on hold for two hours. Finally, I said I needed a supervisor to lay things up on me. They sent somebody else out and they fixed it. But now they’re telling me there’s an upcharge to replace the heater. I don’t understand why I’m having to pay a deductible, a monthly fee, and now they’re telling me they’re gonna charge me an extra $300 to put in my pool heater.
Thanks for providing your feedback and advising us of the issue. We would love to assist in a resolution related to your pool. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further with this.

The technician said that the microwave is irrepairable and needs replacement. He said that this information was provided to American Home Shield who would contact me. However there has been no email or any communication from American Home shield regarding this. I logged into my account and the claim status says it is complete. There is no way we can send any email or contact customer service to check status online. Telephone number provided but I waited on phone 3 times, 45 min each time to be disconnected in the end.
I finally did get through an agent 3 days ago who did not have information other than telling me that I will receive an update by email which I have not received yet. I am very frustrated and am really appalled that at this day and age the communication is so poor. I am so vexed that I am writing this review with the hope that someone from American Home shield will contact me regarding my claim.

The freezer at the bottom and the top part of my GE refrigerator kept flipping temperature like the control would not stay or set. It was going from 30 degrees to 54. I’d open the fridge and everything in there was pretty warm as opposed to pretty cold and it was spoiling my food. I called the claim online and I had a response very quickly. I could see in the email who the claim was assigned to and At Bay picked up my first call and scheduled the service guy who came out on the day and within that time that was scheduled. It worked out really well. They had to order parts and the parts came in less than a week. Then they called and scheduled a time for the technician to come back in and install it.
There was a reset something button on my fridge and when I spoke with somebody at AHS, they told me to put in another claim. I should not have to put in two, three, or four separate claims for a fridge issue. It was the same fridge and the same front door. But I asked the technician when he was here, and he explained to me what I needed to do about that. But from an American Home Shield standpoint, they did not rub me the right way. But service-wise, that has improved.

When I submitted a claim to AHS regarding a plumbing issue, the initial call and repair went fine. However, when the technician put the pipe back together, it was extremely clogged. The same day he left, my kitchen sink was stopped up. So, I called them and he told me that someone would come out and snake the line. But nobody ever came to snake it. When he came, he also told me his machine was too big and that I needed to cut down a two-by-four in my basement where my tub for him to get in.
He was so nonchalant about repairing my pipe and just adamant that we had to cut down two-by-fours and that he didn't have the right machine. He came here without any tools, asking the situation, and then he went to go get a plunger. One was already in the kitchen sink in the floor and I told him I've already tried it for almost an hour and it was not working. I was frustrated 'cause my kitchen was hot, it had dishes everywhere and I just needed to clean my kitchen. Then he went down there, opened a release valve, let the water go all back in my basement on the crawl space again.
I called AHS, and it was, unfortunately, after Friday when he came. The office was closed and I left a voicemail. Someone returned our phone call, yesterday, a voicemail telling me to call them, said they would send somebody out that was a senior tech. But my husband and I just went ahead and ate the cost and got it fixed. American Home Shield covered and did what they were supposed to do. But I would feel a lot better if I had my choice to choose my mechanic and know a little bit of history about them.
