AHS, sent out 5 different companies in 3 months to fix my refrigerator. They have poor communication with both myself and the companies they send out. I have to constantly call them and get the status or ETA of when the Fridge will be fixed. It's still not fix and they wont replace it. Terrible customer service!!!
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I contacted AHS on 6/22/2020 about my refrigerator. Scheduled a service call for 6/24/2020. The service technician told me my refrigerator couldn't be repaired. He would turn in his report & I should hear from AHS by end of the day. I did not hear from them. I gave them until 6/29/2020 to contact me. I called them on 6/29 & was in hold for 45 minutes before anyone answered. They said I had to speak with the Appliance Purchasing Dept for my options. They transferred me & I was on hold for 2 hours, no answer & was disconnected. I called back & same routine. On hold for an hour before I got an answer, they were going to transfer me & I asked them not to that they don't answer. They said they would stay on line until they did. Lie!! Another 2 hour wait & disconnected.
I have spent a total of 11 or more hours on the phone. I have sent messages via Facebook Messenger, only to be told to call. I have been without a refrigerator for over a week. I see many other customers having the same issues. I have ordered & paid for a new refrigerator and want to be reimbursed. I have a feeling I'm going to have to take it to court.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. An agent is assigned and will be following up with you soon.

American Home Shield has been great and it’s very easy to use online. The AC unit was installed incorrectly by a different contractor in February and then, we didn’t use it until last month when we noticed the problem. So, Airmax Heating and Cooling came out and fixed the problem quickly. They were very professional.
Thanks for sharing! We love to hear that our process is easy. Although we hope there are no issues in the home, we are here if you need us in the future.

Sears came out for my refrigerator when it was leaking and everything went all right. I like that I get my stuff fixed at a reasonable cost. I’ve used American Home Shield maybe twice a year and I haven't really had any problems with them covering my stuff yet. So I'll hope this keeps up.

The other day, I just bought a new house and Economy Lock & Key came out and changed all my locks. American Home Shield has a little online portal to use, and that was really nice. It was really easy. They picked out somebody. Then they were sent out. The people who came out were so nice. It was a lovely, married couple. They were super-fast, very professional, and they were very careful too with COVID. So, I appreciated that. They both wore masks. They both have hand sanitizer, and they stayed away from me, which was good. It was a great experience and they were wonderful. The locks are great, too.
When I bought the house, I was a little concerned because the sellers seemed kind of weird about a few things in terms of the inspection. In the contract, I requested that they buy something to help me feel a little bit better about this purchase in case something was wrong with the house, I knew that I could get it fixed. They picked American Home Shield, and I'm very happy but nothing crazy has been going on with the house. It seems like a good purchase so far. When I saw that it was a part of my contract and what company they went with, I did a very basic Google search and 99% of the time people post negative reviews before they post their positive. I was surprised that there are a lot of positive reviews. You're gonna have a few that are not good experiences, but that's with everything.

We had coverage when we purchased the home and this is our second time around with AHS. We're just shy of one year this time. It's an insurance policy and so far, so good. We've had two claims. The first one, we had an icemaker go out in a refrigerator then there's another one where my washing machine stopped spinning. The Sears technician showed up but he called and said it was not repairable. We did a cash-in-lieu replacement instead. I had to provide the receipt for the new product. Plus, I had to hire a plumber to install the water hoses, which was a bit ridiculous, to get my reimbursement. After I did that, the check came quickly and it's all done.

The icemaker in my refrigerator was broken. Sears came out, and it was the second time they had been out for it. They had fixed it in October and the same thing happened again. I requested the claim online to American Home Shield. The tech that came out happened to be the tech that was here before. He looked at my refrigerator and looked at me. I only had one of my kids home that day. It was me and her, and my wife. He said, "You have another daughter, don't you?" After I said I do, he said, "Oh, yeah, I've been here before. I can't fix this." So he remembered me. He was a super nice guy. He called it in and told AHS that he couldn't fix it. AHS ended up giving me an offer to buy a new fridge.
I have no issue with the Sears guy. He was awesome, showed up on time, polite, friendly and everything you would want if somebody's coming to your home. The American Home Shield side of it was frustrating. I was on the phone with them for like three hours to get an offer to replace the fridge. Then, I submitted my payment form online per their instructions. There's no way to email them. You can only call in and the wait times are horrendous. But if you make a remark to them on Twitter, someone will respond to you and then you'll be able to interact with a person. So I did that. It was supposed to take 7 to 10 business days, which is what they say from an automated response that you get when you send your stuff in.
On 6/24, I sent exactly what I needed sent in per their instructions with the attached invoice. I messaged them on Twitter on the 6th of July and said, "Hey, I've sent this in." I heard back from them last Friday. It took them from the 6th to the 10th to get back to me when I was trying to check up. Then, when I finally did hear back from them, they said, "I don't see that a paid receipt has been received. Please resubmit." I forwarded my original email and they said they were getting it processed. It's 7 to 10 days to get. It's $2,500 and it's here and I paid for it.
Reviewed July 2, 2020
I was very happy with the experience with one exception and that is the length of the response time because of the holiday. Over the 4th of July weekend, the capacitor on our unit went out. We learned that after the fact. So we spent the fifth of July in 95-degree heat. On Tuesday, Comfort came out and the tech was actually early. He said he would be there around 2:00 and he got there around 12:42. Anyhow, he walked right out and took care of the issue. He discovered it was the capacitor, replaced it and was out in 15 minutes. He was very polite, friendly and helpful.
I was very satisfied with the visit. It was great but because of the heat, I would have appreciated a response that's quicker than two days. My wife and our cats were suffering. But I don't know if there's anything American Home Shield can do about that because it was a holiday weekend and I don't know their protocols for handling those types of situations. Also, although I liked the website I wish that it had a few more options for filing claims so they could give more detail. It was an HVAC problem but since we didn't know exactly what the HVAC problem was, we had to leave it fairly general and guess the topic to use. "It's making strange noises; the condenser is wrong" – some more options would be nice but we handled it.

The service from American Home Shield is pretty good. Sometimes you can kinda get lost in the process when you first start to do the order unless you’re talking to someone that makes it easier. There had been a couple of times when there had been issues with washer in particular and when I made the call, AHS sent a plumber out for the bathtub but they eventually got it straightened out. Then this last time with the AC was much better. My father was highly impressed with Air Design A/C & Heating. He told the guy what was going on and the guy just went to work, went out to his truck, came back and worked and did the job. So my dad was very pleased.

When I filed a plumbing claim one afternoon, the rep said someone would contact me within 24 hours. But I had not heard from anybody the next day late in the afternoon. I never had that problem with American Home Shield until this time. When I called Dave’s Plumbing, they didn't have the paperwork from American Home Shield. They had to call and get the paperwork. But after that, it was fine. The tech was cordial and nice. He used his shoes and his mask. He did what I felt like he should be doing. He handled it very well. He fixed the issue and everything was okay.
So far, everything has been good with American Home Shield. I was hoping that the issue could get resolved faster. But I'm really pleased with them. There were just a little bit mix-up this time. I made two claims on that day and I challenged them on one of the claims, which was for my washing machine. American Home Shield sent out Ed's to repair my washing machine. I only put the detergent in the washing machine where it was supposed to go. But it rusted out and it was getting the chips into my clothing. The lady in the beginning said that it was wear and tear. American Home Shield did not variate or tried to change anything when it came to that. They kept saying it was a cosmetic problem and it wasn't covered. But if I used the washer though, as I am instructed to, there was no damage I had done to the washing machine, so it should be covered.
I had the runaround on that particular claim because I called them in at the same time, talking to different people as I went along in the process, returning or refunding the service fee on one of them. I asked them if they couldn’t fix it, then they would turn the $80.62. But I had a hard time getting that back. I had to call the authorization department about five times and the lines were so busy. I even documented how long it took for the call to go through and it was between 25 and 45 minutes before I could get someone on the line. Then they kept repeating the same thing over again. I got to go back and listen to the recordings.
By the fourth time I called, I told the rep I was fed up with it because every time I called, everybody said that they were gonna return the $80.62. But the next time I call, it was, “I'm gonna call you back in 24 hours.” I didn't get a phone call. I had to call them and sometimes I waited two days. I called them and finally, I got somebody at fourth time. I told them that I wouldn’t go further than what I had to go with and I would just stop my services and my plans. But they took care of it. I called this morning to see why it had not been applied back to my credit card and they said that it would be in the next 24 hours.

I would recommend American Home Shield. Getting a warranty was discussed with the Realtors and they decided to throw the warranty in along with the purchase price of the house. It's paid for a year, and we will be renewing it when the time comes. My wife did a service request online and then we had a scheduled appointment when the contractor was gonna come out. When the guy from Sears came, I was not there, but my wife said he was super nice. He was thorough with the whole situation and he found out what the issue was within a matter of a few minutes. We just had to wait for the part to come in and once the part came in, it was resolved within a couple of days afterwards. Our dishwasher is functioning way better now and I made my wife happier. It's a dishwasher and they're never 100%, but it wasn't working at all before the repair.

We've had a number of different claims with American Home Shield and different people have come and all of them have been professional, helpful and they have done a good job. Mr. Appliance is one of the best we've had. Strong's Appliance Repair out of Cleveland was also very good and very professional. We had to take apart the old refrigerator to get it out. They don't usually do installation and they came because they couldn't find anybody who wanted to do the installation. They sent enough people, they did not tear up the house or bang things around. They were really good about it and they helped us get the new one all put back together. I couldn't ask for a nice repair people they sent out.
I've been pleased with American Home Shield so far. We had a gentleman come in from Repair My Appliances from this area for my stove problem. When we dealt with the refrigerator, a different appliance people came with a similar name, and it would be nice if AHS could send back the same people. When you're working with somebody, you develop a relationship with it. It would've been helpful. It's not that any of them has been bad, it's just you're starting over and developing a rapport with the people and bringing them into your house. The other ones, you know who they are. You feel comfortable letting them in. My wife and I are in our 70's. We're usually the ones here taking care of things, and it's nice to have the same people come back and feel like you're dealing with somebody you know.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

A few of the techs we’ve had have just been okay just by the way they communicate. But that’s why the last one, I felt, was exceptional. You can tell that some technicians are better than others. The AT Appliances tech did a very good job on our dishwasher. He was our best appliance repairman from that company that we’ve had. They were timely and responsive. The problem was fixed. Then the part came in, he came back out and just took care of it. He was good because he knew exactly what the issue was.
The dishwasher wasn’t working well and everything was still dirty. I was literally ready to get rid of the dishwasher. It needed to be replaced. We’ve had so many problems with it. But he said, “Well, it’s not so easy. I just can’t do that. I don’t make that call. But if we do this, this and this,” and then he noticed something that needed to be cleaned. He went above a bit. He noticed that something in it needed to be cleaned as well to make it more efficient. I was really happy with him.
It still was 100 bucks and it wasn’t a huge problem, so that’s always a pain as far as, “Oh, to pay $100 to have someone come out.” But it ended up not being a very expensive fix. All I know now is it’s fixed. It was two weeks total between coming out, part and replace and it still worked. It was a good experience. We’ve been happy with Home Shield.
The only thing is it’s hard when you know your appliance sucks and you just have to keep paying $100 to fix it. At some point it’s like, “Okay, now I’m up to $500 on this thing. When do we actually just replace it?” And that’s the frustrating part. But, for us, it’s nice to know we have it in case we had a really expensive item. We own a condo and the air conditioning system in there, we’ve heard from other people, is a really expensive thing to fix or to replace. We’re not anticipating it going out, but we got Home Shield because an air conditioning system is so expensive.
In our home now, our air conditioning system was newer and then we got the Home Shield. Sometimes I think why do I have it in my main residence. The condo’s the main thing. But we also have an oven that is now 20 years old and we heard they don’t even make them anymore. So if that goes out and cannot be fixed, then we would be happy we had the warranty.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

My air conditioner kept overflowing into the garage, so I knew something was wrong. I kept trying to fix it myself and blow it out and then I finally called AHS. Air Control Experts came out and the guy was nice enough. He said I was down a pound of Freon. But I shouldn't be. I spent $1,500 before I moved in here. I asked him to check the leak and he said he couldn't because it's not down three pounds. He said if it springs up again, they would come back within a month. But I just called the people who worked on it and asked them a big favor. Their guy came out and looked at it. There was a leak and he fixed it.
I was really disappointed because I read the warranty and it said that all the Freon and stuff was covered. Then, if you read the fine print on a different page, you pay like $35 out of the 45. I was really frustrated because I ended up spending more money using the warranty than I would if I just called the service person to come out and give me a pound of Freon. But I asked the air guy if there's a different warranty company I should go with and he said they're the best that he's worked with.

The refrigerator wasn't working and it defrosted all my food. I called American Home Shield and the rep was fantastic. When the Whirlpool contractor came out the first time, all he did was adjust under my refrigerator and said that was what the problem was. I told him that I adjust all the time under my refrigerator and he said that that was the problem. I said okay and he said that if that didn’t work, I should call him back in two days. It didn’t work and it was doing the same thing it did. I told him it was coming off and going back on. He said that fixed the problem. I said that was fine and stocked my food back up. That was on a Wednesday and I lost $600 worth of meat in my refrigerator. He came out and told me to call back by Friday. The refrigerator was still doing fine on Friday but on Saturday morning, I woke up and all my ice cream was melted. Everything in my refrigerator gone bad again and this is the second time in a week.
I have to go through American Shield so they sent out another company. The guy came out and told me that some kind of switchboard was going bad on it. He would have to order the parts and come back. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and content. I just wasn't happy that we have to wait again. I went without a refrigerator for almost a week and then, he brought it back out, put it in and it worked. My food and the refrigerator were fine but now, my ice wasn't working. So, I called American Shield back and they sent out the guy who came the first time. I told him that it was my ice machine that was not working now but it was working fine when the guy put the switchboard in. The guy came back and checked to see if the guy left it on off, which he hadn't. He said he was gonna have to order a valve and that they ordered the wrong part. Another week later and he finally got it working this past Friday.
I'm happy with American Home Shield. They are attentive and tried to get me help. But I'm not happy that I have to go without my appliances for three months. I had an experience last year with AHS where my washing machine quit working. It was the same guy who came out for it and he had to come six times before my washing machine was finally replaced. When the contractors call in and you give them all the information of the appliance, they should come with the part instead of rescheduling. American Home Shield would schedule you within a day or two and then, the contractor would call back. I even told the lady the last time. She gave me a date and I said that it didn't matter. They're gonna call back and reschedule it anyway. But at least I'm in the system and I'm getting some help.
There's only so much that can be wrong with a refrigerator, a freezer and a washing machine. It was a basic washing machine and not one of these high dollar that you have to have years of classes to learn how to use. It was a nightmare because at that time, I had my mother-in-law who has dementia that uses the bathroom in the bed. I live out in the country so a Laundromat was not very convenient and I also had to schedule somebody to sit with my mother-in-law while I did this because she wasn't allowed to be left alone.

Everything went well with Greenbelt Appliance when they came out. There was something making noise in the washer. It was in spin cycle, and it sounded like it took off. It was the bearing. The tech said the machine’s just so old and he couldn't replace it. I haven't heard from American Home Shield to replace my appliance. They said it needed to be replaced. They already bought a replacement. I tried to call Home Shield, but I've been on hold for hours each time.
I've had Home Shield on all my properties. I had it on my rental for about seven years, and then I've had it on this house for over three years. Before this COVID thing, it was really easy to get a hold of them, especially on our rental when they would go out and repair something. It was very convenient to use them. I've always recommended them highly. Even though I can't get a hold of them right now, I love having the coverage.

I liked that when we call them, they get the right person that does the particular job, and then usually I hear from them within hours. It's very easy to submit the claims online. We put in a claim when the hot water dispenser of the kitchen sink wasn't working. The tech came out and it was working. He turned it on and the water was hot. But when he left, we realized it was hot, but it was not as hot as it was supposed to be. The tech said that if we had any issues to let him know and they would come back and replace it. So they're coming back today.

I’ve just renewed, so this is my second year with American Home Shield. I looked at the competitors and I felt that they had the most to offer and they had the most flexible plan rates as well. They have three different tiers I can go with depending on how much I wanna spend. I didn’t notice that with a lot of the other providers.
Recently, All South Air Systems came out and did an excellent job. They identified the issue and they got the authorization to perform what they call a leak test. In doing so, they determined that the evaporator coil was bad. They were able to order a part and get it in within two days. As a matter of fact, I didn’t think they would get the part that fast and they did. They came back out and had it installed inside of three hours which was a big deal. It took a lot to take that apart. It was a $100 service charge for AHS and I felt it was very fair. They did not charge me the second time for the additional Freon and I thought that was great.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

USA Plumbing came out and the tech put the tool underneath the garbage disposal and twisted it and it worked instantly. He left the tool with me and said that if I ever needed to do it again, I could just use it. But I was a little disappointed with the contractor that came out to fix my microwave. My microwave was missing the magnetic unit that would help it heat originally. So the tech came in real quick and realized that that one was wrong and said that he was gonna order the part and then he would be back in a couple weeks once the part came in.
He came back out to fix it and took the unit off the wall. Upon trying to take the unit off the wall, he realized that he couldn’t do the work because the microwave is hardwired into the wall. I kinda wished that I would’ve known that in the first house call because I would’ve hired an electrician to kinda come out and fix that before he came back with the part. But that’s not his fault. Most microwaves are not hardwired into the wall, they’re plugged to the wall. So it's a really easy fix. But I kinda feel like I forfeited that $75 to be told that they couldn’t help me, which kinda sucked. But it’s okay.

The system was still working off and on, so I called for a follow-up. The tech from All Temp Mechanical came out a day and a half later, at the end of his workday. He replaced a capacitor and another part, and he was done in about an hour and a half. It seems to be working fine now. With AHS, if something goes down, I usually get a fairly fast response. And it is also a fixed cost, except for the stuff that they had to put in which was very expensive. But, other than that, I like the coverage.

I had a plumbing issue where there was air in the line and jiggling in the wall, and so the tech from Wicker Installation went under the sink and did something with the turning valve on the supply line. He said that it was not turned. He was great, and we love him. We are, however, going to go with another company for our new house. The reason for that is because the other company has some specialty items with a septic tank and a well pump. But, I have no issue with American Home Shield. We love them and normally we would use them. They have been good to us. But this time around, it did not work out.

I've had American Home Shield for about 21 years, and I'm very happy with it. I don't mind paying my deductible because I get good service. The last three contractors I worked with were very pleasant. I am a senior. They were very kind and courteous to me because I'm disabled. They explained what they were doing and they did their job. They were clean, and they picked up their mess, and left. I'm very happy with all three of them. One was for my dryer, one was for my dishwasher, and one was for the plumbing. Premium Plumbing & Drain was who came out for my most recent plumbing issue. I had a clogged-up sink and the gentleman unclogged it. He was very pleasant. He explained everything, what he was doing, and he finished the job and he left.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

American Home Shield was the company that was recommended by my real estate agent when I purchased the house and I just kept them since. I use this because it is a rental property and so I've had a couple of instances where I've needed the service. So far, everything has worked out great. It's doing what I wanted. Recently, my renters had a plumbing issue. Plumbers Inc. came out. There was a little additional question as far as how clean and sanitary, considering COVID conditions, but everything they did was professional. They made sure that they were clean and took care as far as not over contaminating the property. They had everything they needed when they arrived and were able to complete the project quickly. My renters were satisfied.

I thought I smelled some gas on the hot water heater. So, I made a claim online and American Home Shield's website was user-friendly. They gave me a time when to expect the contractor out and it was pretty quick. I also had a good experience with the techs who came out. I've read that there were some reviews that weren't so good about it, but they were fine for me. They checked out everything and patched up where there was an error. It was a matter of safety and it was taken care of. And since the service, the hot water heater has been functioning well. All in all, working with AHS provides peace of mind knowing that if something goes out, I’ll be covered.

R & R Electrical came out and changed the light bulb in the front door patio, and the upstairs door patio. The tech also worked in the garage where he replaced the long bulbs that go in there. We have an electrical outlet outside and he changed that as well. I haven't tested the outside electrical yet, but everything else is working good so far. I'm going on my third month and I don't plan on getting rid of AHS. The guy they sent out was awesome. He's willing to educate, point and show, and give different knowledge on some things that I had been thinking about but haven't decided on. He was very helpful and he confirmed my suspicions about what I was thinking. When I call, I'm definitely gonna be asking for him. Also, once I saw the bill which was $100 plus the $30, I was surprised. I thought, "This is so much more convenient than not having the warranty."

There was a very loud straining noise from my air conditioner. I did a claim for it online with AHS. Their website is user-friendly but it doesn't let me say what the symptoms are. It just says air conditioner and brand. It would be nice to be able to put in what the symptoms are. But I guess when customer service contacts you, you can tell them that personally. Still, I like to have a comment section where I can say the unit is making a really loud grinding noise.
My case was assigned to Custom Climate Professionals and I got a note saying I would be contacted within 24 hours, which they did. They scheduled fairly quickly. Sometimes, you wait a day or two on these things because they are busy. But another problem is on the weekend. You never seem to be able to get ahold of anybody. If you put the claim in on Friday, you don't hear from anybody until Monday. Some of these companies only work Monday through Friday. It would be nice if they had someone that could address issues on the weekend. Sometimes, you have to wait over the weekend to get someone to contact you.
That aside, the contractors were all exceptional. Everything has been functioning fine since they've been out. Custom Climate Professionals came out and worked on my air conditioning and furnace thing. They had to come out twice. The first time they came out, the guy showed me the filter was just caked on and nasty. It was probably because I hadn't switched it out since early December. That was causing the unit to strain for airflow. I kinda knew that but I had other things going on that I didn't think of it. The tech recommended that I could get a different kinda filter that increases airflow. I could also get a more powerful motor in there.
I also opted to upgrade my thermostat because I had a simple one. But this one's smart. It's programmable and it basically allows the motor to come on to circulate the air without having the air conditioning or the heat on, which I've had in my other houses. It was a nice upgrade. I bought into all their upgrades and they gave me a military discount. But not even a week and a half after that was done, the machine started making that noise again. I called back and said the noise was there again. A technician came out, added a little Freon, and did some other things. The unit has not made that noise since then.
Aside from that claim, I have a problem with another order I put in now with AHS. I had a dryer appliance repair guy come out. He ordered two parts and upgraded the dryer. He tested the dryer for about a minute. I listened to him and said it sounded great. I thanked him and he left. 10 minutes after he left, I put a load of clothes in the dryer. After three or four minutes, it started making the same noise that he came out to service. I called the tech several times, left messages, and texted. But he never responded. I called American Home Shield back and they said they would let the contractor know one more time. I was to give them a call if the tech doesn't come back out. I was actually getting ready to call today to say he hasn't come back out. He hasn't even contacted me.Charlotte: I will definitely document that down too. That was the contractor Ramey Appliance Repair.
I've had American Home Shield since I've had a house in the '90s. I have the warranty on three of my current houses right now and I don't really have a problem. They always normally provide a good service, except for the two things with the website and the one with Ramey’s. Ramey is an anomaly because the same guy has done service on other things for me. I've never had a problem with him until he just doesn't seem to wanna try and fix the dryer. He did all he could do and doesn't want to answer the phone now.

American Home Shield's contractor did a good job. It was like a multiple call. They were supposed to come out on Friday last week. American Home Shield's at fault here. The vendor was very fine, but it was American Home Shield that screwed it up. They did this in May and they turned around and put the unit. It was supposed to be in, and then they couldn't get anybody out. Then they gave us JOSKO, and JOSKO said the guy was out sick. He was supposed to come that afternoon on Friday. He couldn't make it, so then they pushed it out to Tuesday. I had to call American Home Shield, so they had to come back and change it, and they got it for yesterday. It was supposed to be between 10:00 and 12:00, and they kept calling closer to 12:00 saying, "Well, he's still in another job." Then I got another air conditioning company who's supposedly coming out. They called. It was kind of confusing.
The contracting company, when they got here, was fine. American Home Shield was terrible. There's another home coverage company that is a lot less. Their fee is like $55 instead of $75 for a visit. I haven't investigated enough yet, but I'm starting to investigate it. I've been with American Home Shield for over 25 years and I keep dumping money in there. They fix the issues but I'm probably giving them more than what I've gotten back as far as service. Also, I know there's a virus out there, but I was on hold each time I had to call them for over an hour, and that's not very good. They need to get more people. Then I got somebody that hardly can speak English. She didn't know what to do and was going around and around. AHS used to be a great company.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

Active Appliance Service came out and made the repair on the refrigerator. It is working now and it seems to be holding its coldness status. It took like three weeks for them to get the repair part in, but once they were able to come in, they were able to do the repair quickly. I'm happy. The AHS coverage is excellent. They repaired that refrigerator for three times now. I was just hoping that maybe they would consider telling me I could replace it because I feel like I keep calling them to do the repairs.
After they got the part in, then it was another 10 days before they were able to set us on the schedule. We were out of refrigerator for a month. I was hoping that at some point if this happens again, Home Shield would say that this is maybe defective and actually offer some value for that refrigerator so that I can have a replacement and not constantly be calling in repairs. I don't know when that happens. But I felt like the website and the ability to check into my mobile device, to put in a request for service, and to renew online is very convenient, and I appreciate that they do that. It's definitely something I plan on keeping that service.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Water heater replacement denied. Rep spent 30 seconds at my house. As soon as he heard me say “noise” he said nope not covered. Noise isn’t the issue. Issue is sediment coming through my pipes and sink/ shower. Discoloration. Also water sometimes doesn’t heat up. This is a literal time bomb and causing other issues in house. I read and highlighted my contract and know this should be covered. I can’t get a hold of AHS to dispute because wait times are 2+ hours on phone and can’t email. Very dishonest.

It is nearly impossible to get a representative on the phone. The wait on hold averages an hour, from my experience. When I did get someone on the phone, they asked me all my info - address, phone, name, Shield account number, followed by a question, "What can I help you with today?" But this is an empty question because I was always told the same thing: they tried to call the appliance company (local repair store) and no one answered. They would ask me to follow up in a few days. So, again, I would wait on hold for over an hour, re-tell my info, re-tell my situation (my appliance is still broken, the repairman came out and was supposed to order a part but nothing is showing in my account). The rep would try calling the appliance company, of course no one would answer, and the process of me checking back would start all over again.
I spent so many hours of my day trying to address an issue that was never resolved. I posted to AHS' Facebook page and this rendered a reply from a representative that was more helpful. She called the appliance company and confirmed they had the part in. She called me and told me to call the appliance company and schedule an installation. I did and was on the schedule the following week. The morning I was scheduled, I received a call from the technician saying they never got the part in. This was confusing since they previously stated they had it. The AHS rep escalated the repair and marked the oven eligible for a replacement. She gave me a number to call in case I did not hear from AHS. No surprise, I never heard from AHS.
When I called the number I was given, no one every picked up. The first call I waited an hour and a half before I had to hang up to start work. I called two additional times and gave up after 30 minutes. After 6 months, I am out almost $500 dollars and a lot of time, and I still have a broken oven. This company seems like a scam because they do not fulfill their side of the contract -- one I fulfill by paying EVERY month. In addition, it is difficult to cancel the auto-renewal; I will most likely have to call my bank and place a stop payment because I do not want to renew come August, but I also can’t get anyone on the phone with AHS to cancel my renewal. I strongly caution other homeowners from using American Home Shield. I wish I had looked at their Facebook page and all the negative comments before I signed my contract. I read those comments and relate to everything being said. If I could give negative stars, I would.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

I have never been more frustrated with a home repair situation. I have been waiting over a month in 90+ degree weather to get my AC replaced. The HVAC company said that covid caused a delay in getting the parts. :( When I spoke to the HVAC company today to get the total out of pocket amount, they told me that I am paying $1800 out of a total cost of $2600. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A HOME WARRANTY??? I don't understand why more is not covered if approval is given for replacing the unit!!
When I called AHS to ask why so little is being covered, I waited on hold for 45 minutes only to be cut off the minute the person took the call. After waiting another 45 minutes on hold, I finally was connected with someone. I could barely understand what they were saying and every time I asked a question, I could tell that they were referring to a script--but the scripted answers WEREN'T ANSWERING THE QUESTION!! She kept telling me that the "authorization dept" would contact me, but I find that hard to believe. I am planning on canceling with this company as soon as all of this is settled. UGH! In an extremely hot summer, our A/C failed. Their "assigned" contractors (FICK'S MECHANICAL and Prudent Mechanical) are extremely poor quality & can't solve this issue. And they refuse to change the assigned contractors. I called this company multiple times (and waited on the phone for >1 hour each time) and tried to reason with them why we don't want these two companies. I explained that they had previously sent Fick's to our place and charged us for that, only for us to pay out of pocket after Fick's failed to resolve the issue.
The first time, the agent was understanding and seemingly tried to assign a different contractor. That different contractor, however, never showed up. So we had to call again. The second time, the agent said that we have no choice and yes, the contractor is, again, must be Fick's. Yes, the exact same company that was here in March, charged us, and didn't solve the problem. I have been on the phone for ~75 minutes now again to either change this or cancel my policy. Avoid this company.

If you call customer service plan on being on hold for at least an hour before you get through, honestly. I recently bought a house in which the built in refrigerator broke. AHS assigned a very poorly rated appliance repair company to come repair the refrigerator. The company has been to my house to "fix" the refrigerator 3 times in the span of 30 days, which of course is still not fixed. When I called AHS to have the repair company come back out a 4th time they told me I was outside of the 30 Day recall period and I would have to pay another $75 service charge for an appliance that was never fixed to begin with! Stay away from AHS. They use poorly rated appliance repair companies and don't actually work with you to fix the problem!

We’ve been happy with American Home Shield thus far. 2 of our neighbors needed a home warranty plan and I gave them the information for American Home Shield. We’ve only used them twice but it was good. A/C Pros handled our claim for a heating issue very well. In November, they came out and replaced a component. Then we had a regular check-up and they found out we were low on freon, and there was one other small thing diagnostically that they fixed out while they were there and did a really good job. They also did a good job of explaining what they were doing.

The serviceman showed up as scheduled, did a walkthrough diagnostic, but didn't make any repair whatsoever. I told him that he ought to be able to order parts since they gave him a work order. He said that he had to get approval from his office so he left. I attempted to call Home Shield. I talked to one of the ladies there and she said she’ll call and get it straightened out.
A period of time went by, and they called back and said that they got approval to get the parts, but they need to get approval to install a gas craft line and a safety valve vent line to a total of somewhere in the area of $350 out of my pocket. I told them we’re not doing that. I’m a pipefitter, plumber by trade, so I can do that. He said he can’t put it back in unless he installs this material. I told him then that we’re not gonna do it.
I installed two ¾-inch nipples and about a 48-inch block of PVC pipe for a vent on safety valve and this took me a sum total of about $12 in probably 30 minutes. I contacted Home Shield and told them not to send Island Mann Plumbing & Drain Cleaning back out and that I replaced the water heater myself. I went and bought a brand-new water heater for 500 versus paying them $350. Then Home Shield sent another service company over, something electric, and this repairman repaired it on site without ever going back home. He showed and told me what he’d done and it was a reset on this electronic ignition.

NW Sundance Services came out and diagnosed the problem and then they needed to order a part. This was almost a month ago and just now, the part has arrived. They need to come back and they’re gonna install these parts. The first time, the plumber that came out diagnosed it and said, “Okay, I’m gonna order two of these parts. Once they arrive, let us know and we’ll schedule an appointment to come back.” It took almost two weeks for the part to arrive. It was supposed to be two parts, not one. I called the company and I said, “Look, only one came.” They said, "Let’s go ahead and schedule the appointment and have them come out.” I said, “No, I’m not gonna have him come twice to my home when he’s gotta install two different parts, and the second part has not arrived.” They said, “Oh, let us look into why that didn’t arrive. It should be there because he ordered it.”
Something fell through the cracks because a week went by after that and I called back and they said, “Oh, yeah. The part should still be coming.” I waited another week and it still hadn’t arrived. So finally I said, “I don’t think you guys ordered the second part.” The lady said, “Oh, I need to speak to my supervisor.” When she spoke to her supervisor, they claimed that there was a holdup somewhere with the part. That was an outright lie. I looked at the packing slip, and the date that’s on the packing slip was the date that they ordered it. So, they didn’t order it. It shouldn’t take this long to get the parts ordered, to get it, and have it repaired. This whole time my water pipes have been leaking. I’ve been able to turn them off. At first, you can’t. They just leak and then eventually it stops. But that’s the problem. There’s like a broken cartridge on the inside that needs to get replaced.
I can’t imagine if this entire time, it’s been more than a month now, my water bill would be going through the roof because we have a constant leak. I don’t think I’ve ever had this type of experience before with American Home Shield. Usually they’re pretty good about who they send out and they do the job and it’s pretty efficient. I didn’t call American Home Shield. I had just been calling that plumbing company because sometimes it’s hard to get a hold of people at American Home Shield, and it’s like waiting on hold for an hour. I was about ready to call and complain, but the part did arrive a few days ago and they scheduled the appointment for someone to come out this Thursday. So it’s gonna get taken care of, it’s just taking way too long.
The plumber is really good. It’s the fault of whoever’s running the show and ordering parts and making the follow up. The back-end office people aren’t really on top of it. They could’ve looked further into it and did it from the beginning than just kinda let it go. I didn’t receive any updates. I would call and then they said, “Oh, we’ll call you back to give you an update.” Days would go by and I would not receive a phone call and I have to call back.

The guy from J & A Appliance Repair did great. He came and checked the appliance out. He needed to order the part, but the service was good and productive. He handled it and the unit has been working great since he came out. He explained the motor to the fan at the bottom of the freezer was going out and how it sucked up the cool air. So, the freezer was working, but the refrigerator was not. American Home Shield has been great. I've had them for 23 years, and all my experiences with the service people have been good. When I had an issue with it, American Home Shield resolved the issue and we were able to take care of it without that server. Also, about 15 years ago, my central unit went out, and that was $8,000. Out of my pocket was like 1,000 bucks. What I pay them a month is like one dinner a month at Chili’s, so it is nothing. You got to have AHS.

I made a claim over the phone with American Home Shield and it took a while to get through because some of the prompts just take forever. They say it's easier to do it online but I'm a phone guy. I'd rather make sure I'm getting it done the first time just because I've done stuff online and they say, "I never got your request." I tend to wait on the phone. That's why I like to call. American Home Shield's service is really good and the price is pretty reasonable also. They're quick when they send someone out and I've never had an issue getting someone out to come fix something. However, we had one company come out, Affordable Appliance, and the guy said that we needed a new washer completely because no matter what he fixed, it wouldn't work. All Star Appliance then came out, and my washer is still not fixed, but it's not bad. They said that they've been going around this one company left and right because they didn't know what they were talking about and that he couldn't fix my washer.

I had a leak under my kitchen sink. It was my garbage disposal. Blue Star Plumbing came out pretty quickly within two days, and they replaced it since the other one was shot. So, that was good. But I’ve had difficulties with getting pool repairs through American Home Shield. If I put on a claim, even if I’m home, they’ll come out and they'll say, “Oh, just leave the gate open.” They’ll come and they’ll check it out. If I say there’s a leak or there’s an issue and if they don’t see it, then they’ll just put no issue or no leak when there is obviously a huge discrepancy if I’m notating a leak or notating that something is not working and then they say, “It works just fine.” So, that’s the big difference.
They don’t even give the courtesy of calling or knocking on my door before they leave. They just make a note saying it works fine and then they’re on their way to the next appointment. So, I have had a lot of difficulties with the pool stuff. And then I tried to call American Home Shield and they’ve never called me back, so I don’t know if I would sign up with them again.

A/C Rescue did good service. My air conditioning was leaking and I was in the midst of a bathroom reconstruct after my neighbors had flooded my bathroom. I called American Home Shield and then they gave me the phone number of the people. I called A/C Rescue and I explained my situation to them – that the contractors could not move forward until the leak was fixed. I told them the sooner, the better. They told me the best they could do and then they ended up being able to send somebody sooner so I was really appreciative. The guy was very fast and efficient, and everything has been fabulous since then. Without that repair, my air conditioning would be leaking into my bathroom, which would really suck. The water was running down and the air conditioning would be leaking into my toilet. It does have tile around it but who wants leaking in their bathroom? You would want the water to stay where it belongs.

I could hear the pool pump in my bedroom and all of a sudden, I heard it make a weird sound. I went out and didn't know what it was so I shut the pump off and turned it back on. It would be fine for a while and then I'd hear it again. But the second time I heard it, I went over and I noticed my suction had gone down like half. So, it was wasn't just a sound. It was affecting the suction of the pump and it wasn't circulating my water, which I knew would not be good for the pool. It would turn green and then I’d be buying all-new chemicals.
I called American Home Shield to put in a claim and the guy from Allen's Pool Service called me within 24 hours. I told him what I thought the issue was and he said that he'd be out the next day, and he was. He looked at the pool pump and he knew immediately what it was, and fixed the problem. The pump was probably 10 years old and some other stuff had gotten in there and put it out of balance. Then, it would just get lodged that caused it to do what it was doing and not spin and do suction. He cleaned it out, replaced the parts that needed replacing, and put it back on. And the pump has been running great ever since.
My house is 14 years old and AHS gives me peace of mind that repairs are not gonna be a big-ticket. If something goes wacko, I know that it's only gonna be $100 with American Home Shield. There's always a pump with the pool and replacing it is a couple of hundred dollars. The air conditioners are 13 years old and those aren't gonna last forever. I also have water heaters and things like that that are right around the time that they're gonna let go.

The problem was something with the knob inside and they came back out but I didn't have to pay another service charge. So I was pleased with that. Also, the technician was really polite but he just left all the big stuff, like the tub and everything that was inside my washer, for me to dispose of. That was the first time that it ever happened to me. He said I could just set it out for the trash and they'd pick it up, but I didn't like that because I didn't feel that that was my responsibility to be dragging. The rep answered my question and told me who the contractor would be. AHS gave me their number, and said they would be calling me. The contractors called me and told me when they would be out. The rep from Blue Star Plumbing was good and really helped. He even had knowledge about this being an older home and the types of pipes that were used. Instead of doing the snake thing, which he showed brought up some kind of minerals and stuff, he recommended some kind of liquid, which I used, and it has been perfect.
I'm very satisfied with the experience. People have to make up their own mind if they went and did their research, but AHS has never failed me and I would recommend them. The only thing that would be a negative is the fee keeps going up and then you have to pay a service fee, which goes up all the time. I had the same thing happen about this time last year with a pool pump. My pump was leaking on an inground pool. I called and the filtration system was leaking. But I don’t like the contractors they’ve sent out. When it comes to my appliances such as my washer and dryer, which I seem to have issues with, I prefer the company that is related to my appliance. If I have a GE dryer, I want General Electric to come out because if they send anyone else out, they would say that they fixed it and it seems fixed, but then a few days later, they might have to come back out again because it really wasn't fixed. He also told me that he had to have a new pan as the pan has gone bad. I had them take a picture of it and it was so rusted and awful. That would have to be done at another appointment as it would take two people to do that. They did a great job and they were very thorough. I'm very pleased with Red Desert. If I have other things, I'll definitely call them.
The last time I had American Home Shield's contractors come out, I called them for an issue in my daughter's shower. When their tech from Spring Hurst Plumbing came out, he said there was no leak. He also said he needed "white water something". The rep from there promised me that she would call me back. However, no one ever got back to me. I usually have Crystal Clear Plumbing and they do an awesome job. I called their plumber to ask them about the white water thing which I've never heard of and she knew right off the bat. Phone calls taken by AHS reps have to be recorded so AHS can look back on them. They need to train their people to make sure they call back. The last person I talked to from AHS was good. She looked back at all the stuff which no one else did.

I wasn’t satisfied with the minimum amount of coverage I had with another company, which was why I got more coverage. My real estate agent recommended AHS and gave me a folder attached to her real estate company with the telephone number for AHS. I had a blockage in my drain from the washing machine. The contractor snaked it, then he recommended a product for me to use so it wouldn’t clog up. One of my kitchen drains is upstairs and it’s the same pipe that runs down to the washing machine. He said that I have to regularly put something in there as a cleanser to get rid of grease.
I called in and AHS sent me the telephone number of the plumbing company. Within 24 hours, if I didn't call, the company would call me to make the appointment. The co-pay was a little higher than the $60 I paid another company several years ago. I’m also not aware of any cap on how much money they will pay out for you during the year. I like that AHS does what they say they're gonna do. They've helped me when I’ve had flooding in the house, my stove caught on fire, and my refrigerator went out. With them, I can also get my annual checkup to my HVAC done and they give you a reminder. The contractors that they've sent out have been good, too. But I had one that said they were busy and couldn't get to me for the water flooding my basement. It was on Monday and I told him that that was a no-go. AHS said that that was not within their policy, so they were going to get me someone else. They also said that the new contractor would be out in two days.
Aside from that, if someone's on my list, they call me, follow up with me, and they've got my cell number. So the communication with whoever's coming out is open and continuous. Plus, if it’s someone that I really liked and they understood my system, I always can request them. And if they don’t have them available, then that's different. But if they're available, whoever I want to have come back out can come back out.
When my friends would say that their air conditioner was out, I'd tell them to better hurry and get American Home Shield to cover their house. The cool part about AHS is you can go in and decide what things you want them to cover. So if you don't have a particular thing and they’re not gonna cover it, then don't worry about putting it on your list. But for the things that you have in your house that you want to have covered, when someone comes out, you know it’s gonna be $100. You don’t have the pressure to think it’s gonna be 5 or $600. They’d come out, do what they say they’re gonna do, and they go away. You don’t have to pay for parts or anything and $100 covers everything.

The first time, we sent the claim in online and Moore Air replaced one part but then the AC went out less than 24 hours later. I called in the second time but since the original claim was still open, American Home Shield just recalled the company. The same technician came out both times and he did a great job. He was really professional and was available via text when we had some questions after he left the first time. The AC is working really well now. I also appreciate how quickly American Home Shield got back to us. We had a different warranty company before and it took them almost a week before they even got anybody to look at the air. American Home Shield had somebody sent to us within 24 hours. We’re really happy right now.

When we bought our very first home in 2010, it came with a six-month warranty and we had to use it. It was new construction so some of the stuff was under builder’s warranty, but because it had been a model home, it wasn’t technically under full warranty, so we had an American Home Shield warranty on it and we decided to extend it because it had been good for us so far. Then any homes that we purchased since then, we just made sure that we just kept coming back. I really like AHS and we won’t ever own a home without having a warranty like this.
Recently, the coil at the back of the air conditioner was freezing over, and so the air conditioner would shut off and wouldn’t blow cold air. I submitted a claim on the mobile website of AHS and I like the website a lot. The guy that came out was absolutely amazing. He was so good and was very young. We were joking when he walked in that he can’t be out of high school, but he obviously knew his job. He was very thorough in explaining exactly what was gonna happen, exactly what was covered by this service call, exactly what would happen next, and what would be covered by the next call if we needed to make one. He was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. He was a really good kid. The temperature was starting to rise so we were much happier after everything was finished.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that is knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

The garage door wouldn’t go down and close all the way. Once the technician from #1 Garage Door got there, he did a good job. Everything was done on the same day. American Home Shield has good service. If I have a problem, I go online and file a claim then someone contacts me immediately and they show up when they’re supposed to. That's what I like about it.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I went through the prompts system initially and then I called in and asked them who was gonna be coming, and then they sent me the information for the plumbing company. Prime Plumbing told me when they were coming. The guy that came out was great. He was extremely friendly. Customer service was really good. He did a really good job. Made a service request to get my dishwasher repaired. I was assigned a contractor who never reached out to me so I called them to make an appointment but had to leave a message. Never received a call back. I had my son in law look at it and he made the repair. Tried to cancel service order online but couldn't find anything to do it so I called AHS and waited on hold for 56 minutes. When a service rep finally answered she asked the problem. After explaining the problem she said she couldn't hear me and hung up. Try to call back but was put on hold. They said there was an hour wait. That tells me an hour and a half from my previous call wait time. Also they already took my payment.
I don't know what to do when they can easily do something on their website through my account to make it easy to cancel service or email access to correspond with them. I've been on this for nearly three hours and still haven't resolved it. I guess I'll have to dispute the charge through my credit card company if they maintain the charge.

My wife and I signed up for American Home Shield because we had heard great things about them but we have never had a good experience with them. Our fridge has been out for almost a month now and they sent a tech 2 weeks ago and we were told by him that our compressor had quit working. They said they were going to send another tech a week later but never set up the appointment and we have been trying for a week to contact them with no luck. Don't waste your money signing up with them. Even the first company that came to work on the fridge sat on hold for over 3 hours with no one answering the call. American Home Shield is happy to take your money and never solving the problem.

I am a current owner of an American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty plan. I rely on the warranty for my rental property. It's fairly "easy" to request service online, but all it allows you to do is just that - request the service then pay. You do not get the option of reviewing selected contractors. I requested a service, paid, and a contractor was assigned. The contractor "flaked" and never returned calls, made the visit to the home, nor completed any service. On the website, it shows I do not have any service calls active - how can it NOT be active if it was not completed? No one from AHS contacted me or followed up with me, yet they closed the service request. I have no way of updating the request without having to call the company. Calling the company is a guaranteed 30 minute wait at least. Three weeks of trying to work with the contractor, only to come up empty and having to call the company to try and rectify the situation.
Insurance companies, warranty companies, etc. need to do a better job at selecting businesses they work with - after all, the contractor is a reflection of the warranty company because my trust is in them to do the job of finding a reputable contractor capable of fulfilling the service request. Result was the contractor canceled doing the service, I was not notified by the contractor nor AHS, and my service fee was not returned. In AHS's goodwill, another contractor was assigned, I do not have to repay the service fee, and I got "I'm sorry this happened and you were not contacted." The online system is not set up for the best customer service and calling the company is a patience game.

Updated on 07/07/2020: AHS warranty doesn't work for If it is rental property. They waste your time with multiple technicians and they drag for several months and finally they tell you It won't cover but tenant cannot wait. After 50 days, here is the reply. What does it mean? It is kind of cheating the customers. AHS reply after 50 days "Per the technician, there is not a mechanical failure. The system is old and has lost efficiency. We would not cover if there is not an actual breakdown." Please note it is peak summer. they dragged the issue for 50 days. I Hope no one will sign up for AHS after reading this review.
Original Review: It is the worst company. The AC stopped working some time in April for my rental property. I have contacted AHS and AHS sent United Air Temp technician to fix the issue. Technician mentioned that there was some wire issue and he said it got fixed. After the technician left my tenant called me and mentioned AC issue is not fixed. I called AHS again they sent same company technician again and this time technician added 2 LB Freon liquid and he charged me $280, the issue was not fixed after adding the Freon liquid.
I called AHS again, this time they sent a Cool Factory technician. The Cool Factory person mentioned he cannot do anything and replacement is only the option. Issue started 45 days ago and It is almost 2 weeks since Cool Factory technician visited. And I am calling every day both Cool Factory and AHS and their answer is report is pending at AHS authorization department and I will get a call back from the authorization department. And I am calling AHS for last two weeks. So every time I call AHS I need to stay on the call for 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs. It is too hot and my tenant is not able to live in the house but AHS doesn't care. I Hope no one will sign up for AHS after reading this review.

I placed an online service request (for my broken dishwasher) in February. It costs $100 on top of your monthly warranty fee to request service, and this must be paid in advance. I had 2 problems with my dishwasher (not draining and broken top cover plate), but their online system only allows for 1 problem to be reported. I reported the drainage issue as that prevented the dishwasher from operating. When the tech arrived, I pointed out the 2nd problem. He ordered parts for both problems. He returned within 2 weeks to repair the drain problem and said the cover plate was on backorder. He used clear duct tape to tape the top cover in place as a temporary fix.
Then COVID19 hit. I received an email from AHS indicating my service request was complete. Of course, it was not because there was still a part on order. I called AHS, and after the normal 30+ minutes on hold, I was connected to someone who indicated that even though my account online showed they marked the repair "complete/closed", she could see that it was not and that I would be contacted when the part was in.
Fast forward to May, and our local area in Colorado opening up a bit. I called AHS to check on the part/service order. Could not get through to them. Logged about 2 hours on hold. Called the Contractor who claimed they did not have an open repair and "would never leave a repair open for that long". Finally got ahold of someone at AHS, who indicated they would follow up with the contractor and get back to me. That was 2 weeks ago. I've heard nothing.
Keep in mind they take your money monthly, and there is absolutely no way for me to remove my credit card from my online. Additionally, they have no way to contact AHS other than via a phone call, and it is normal to have a wait time of 30-60 minutes before connecting to someone. The last person I spoke with indicated I could use the online chat in the future. There is NO online chat on their website. So, they take my money. Make it virtually impossible for me to cancel. Virtually impossible to get service complete. And, virtually impossible to speak with someone and get assistance on these core and important issues.
So, putting all of that together indicates fraudulent business practices. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and AHS has yet to reach out to me to resolve. I discourage any single person - real estate agent or consumer - from supporting this business in any way. You have been forewarned. I sincerely doubt the integrity of any positive review for this company.

Overall terrible experience. After multiple failed repair attempts, one of which took me over 16 hours of time spent on the phone just to get AHS and their chosen subcontractor to actually respond to my request, my warranty cost me far more in time than it saved me. Not worth the money or frustration. If you research this company for a second, you will see that the experiences noted in this review are not unique, It seems to me that they are either: 1) Intentionally treating customers poorly for their financial benefit, or 2) so incompetent at basic things that they do not deserve any customers. If you don't believe me, call them to ask about a new warranty and you will get right through. Call them to ask about your existing warranty and you will likely have a 1hr hold time like I did this morning.
The fact that ConsumerAffairs shows AHS as an "Authorized Partner" shows that Consumer Affairs is not a consumer focused organization but rather another unethical business that collects money from other unethical business to post "customer reviews" and provide a false sense of assurance. What exactly is the "Accreditation" process Consumer Affairs? Seems like it goes no further than making sure the checks cleared. Because if Consumer Affairs checked in with the CONSUMERS who have made the mistake of dong business with American Home Shield, they could not, in good conscience, accredit AHS. But since this review calls out the payola system that Consumer Affairs has with their "Partners", it is doubtful this review will be published. If you are thinking about getting a warranty from AHS, do not. You would be better off to simply save the money you would spend on a premium and set it aside for future repairs.

We had a great experience with AHS when we lived in an urban areas. Then we moved to a very rural area and have had very poor response to our requests. The first was on a cold snowy night when our furnace stopped working; they NEVER got back to us. We called the next day and they kept insisting that we lived in urban California not rural Colorado. Then, we had a plumbing issue, pipe broke....same response. Both times, we paid the only service company in the area to come out. We were reimbursed for one after a couple of months of calling them.
This last occurrence was for our central air that went out during a spell of 100 days. SAME RESPONSE.... NONE. I called them everyday, at one point I was told they'd call me back in an hr, nope, didn't happen. I gave them the name of a contractor who agreed to do the work and wait on AHS for the payment...they called but he didn't answer (he was working) so they hung up with no voicemail and gave me three businesses that do not exist here. It takes 30-60 min every time I call and of course, while I was on hold, was disconnected after almost an HR to talk to someone, then waiting on them to call the contractor. If it's easy, they'll help you, otherwise, if you live in a rural area, I wouldn't pay them. We're going to make a deal with our local contractor and dump AHS. I had been recommending them for years; no more. I'm telling EVERYONE to avoid them.
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

I requested service on 5/15/20 to have my A/C unit repaired. A technician was sent out on 5/18/20 and stated that the unit needs to be replaced and he would be sending a work order to American Home Shield (AHS) and someone will be in touch with me. Four days later I called AHS. The call associate there said they will be replacing the Compressor coil and they are waiting on the ordered parts to arrive. Another four days go by and still NO WORD, so I called again on 5/28/20. At this point there was an issue between the contractor and AHS about my Central air unit not being covered under my warranty.
I feel they’re giving me the run around and the call representatives only make matters worse because they was confused as to what was covered/not covered in my contract as well. I had to constantly keep explaining what has already been addressed and resolved from the previous call. I had two people tell me that the repairs are not covered, after the first representative determined that everything is covered, I had to explain to the second representative that the repairs are in fact covered. It’s now 6/30/20 and I am exhausted from calling since 5/28/20 every two to three days to get an update because no one from AHS has called, emailed or text a status update. The only call I got from them was a request to participate in Representative survey.
I was just told on 6/29/20 that I would need to pay $1200.60 out of pocket for the cost of the refrigerant since they will only cover $10 per pound for a total of 12 pounds. My contract states under (section E. 1) “AHS will pay $10 per pound for refrigerant and customer is responsible for any costs in excess of $10 per pound.” Now What’s puzzling is when I ask the associate Josh that was helping me today, “exactly how many pounds are needed?" He couldn’t answer instead proceed to tell me that they’re covering 12 pounds x $10 = $120. He also couldn’t explain how did my bill total to $1200.
I’m frustrated of how long it took to get the results, the countless calls I had to make to American Home Shield and to the contractor's company just to get answers and no real explanation as to how did they factor my out of pocket cost to be $1200. I could possibly buy a new unit for that price. It just doesn’t make sense to me when the contractor stated at my home that the whole A/C unit needs to be replaced. Now AHS wants to patch it and charge me $1200 for some supposedly refrigerant. Seems to me like AHS and the contractor are now working together but against me.
According to Manage my account, AHS closed my service for request on 6/03/20 which means it’s no longer active as if they fixed the broken unit; This is before they even had a chance to discuss with me this new situation about the Refrigerant that I just found out about on 6/29/20 or what options I have to resolve this issue. I don’t think they realize that it’s summer where I live 90-100 degree weather or maybe they don’t care, but either way this is not how you conduct business.

Updated on 09/03/2020: I have been a customer of AHS for many years--about 10 I think. Over that time I have replaced my hot water heater twice, my microwave and the outdoor part of my air conditioner, and until recently I could recommend the company because I felt like I was getting good value. It was a simple arrangement, something breaks and you call them to send out a service person to fix it or replace the item. But lately they take an hour to answer the phone. And then they take a looong time to process claims. For example, I have a problem with my washing machine that I first had someone come out and service on 6/11/2020. The washing machine was broken and was making clothes I put in it dirtier than they were before with lint stuck to the fabric.
A quick Google search says this is what happens when the pump that extracts the water gets plugged. But the first person who came out insisted it was just a "cleaning issue" and I should run several empty loads of vinegar and bleach through the machine to 'clean' it. What the Hell; I tried it. As you might guess it made no difference at all. So I asked for a second opinion. This person said the problem was likely collected soap on the outside of the drum that must be scrubbed off. It was possible--my hot water heater had been dying slowly and I had been washing clothes in cold water. This time AHS agreed to replace the washer. More specifically, after I complained about the runaround I was getting on here, they told me to go purchase a new washer and I would be reimbursed. That was back on 7/4/2020.
Since then they have been telling the people at Consumer Affairs to 'update' my previous review because my situation is 'resolved'. But here we are more than two months later and I am still waiting to get reimbursed for the washer/dryer I bought to replace the unit that was broken. I don't know about you, but I don't consider the situation 'resolved' until I actually get some money to pay for the replacement for the broken item.
I haven't been just sitting idly by since then. I have called at least six times. I called about a week ago and asked them to 'research' (their word) where my check was. Today I called back because I hadn't heard back and learned that the requested 'research' into where my check was simply canceled without notice. Apparently, they decided that they needed to "verify my mailing address" before sending me a check. But they didn't actually take any steps to 'verify' the mailing address like calling me or sending me an email. Of course, this is the same address where they sent people to examine the washing machine, and I've been living here using the same mailing address since I signed up with the company about 10 years ago.
You can decide for yourself if that sounds like a deliberate delaying tactic. I cannot recommend AHS to people any more. It should not take three months or more to resolve a straightforward warranty claim. This is not an acceptable level of service. My annual contract came up for renewal on 9/1/2020 and I can't think of a single reason to go through this again for another year.
Original Review: I have two claims running at present. One is for my water heater which stopped producing hot water over a month ago. Not producing hot water is clearly a covered service, but the plumber assigned and AHS can't seem to coordinate with each other to actually get an authorization to either repair or replace the water heater.
The other claim pending is for my washing machine, which has started making clothes I put in it dirty with lint. According to Google this may be due to a plugged lint filter, but the contractor who came out and inspected it says that the problem is likely corrosion on the washing machine drum and it could be replaced. This is actually the second contractor who has come out. The first described it as a "cleaning problem" and AHS refused to do anything about correcting the problem. AHS supposedly covers problems with machines when they just wear out, and the washing machine is over 20 years old. But when you actually file a claim you may find that your breakdown is a "cleaning problem" and they somehow don't have to pay for your repair either.

Updated on 7/1/2020: After my review yesterday, a CS person responded on site and via email. It was purely decorative. I responded within minutes of the email and after hearing nothing 5.5 hours later, on site. Still nothing. I called AHS again this morning since we have a broken freezer, and I have heard nothing from them. At least this time, after 45 minutes, the CS rep did not insult me by asking for the details of the claim that they have in their system.
Not only has their contractor not responded with a report, the contractor's voicemail is still full, a fact known by AHS yesterday. They had not, I infer, spoken with or emailed with the contractor. This morning's CS rep asked if I would prefer them to email or call the contractor. Seriously? I responded "Both - I will wait". After nearly 15 minutes the rep returned to the line and informed me the VM is still full but she had emailed. She then asked what else I would like them to do.
Seriously? I am the customer, not the supervisor. I requested they schedule and send a new contractor. The CS rep stated she could do that since it was now past the "48 business hours". Why did they not just offer this? What is this, a CS 101 class? If you could not grasp my theme from yesterday, then I will reiterate. Do not do business with these people. They are in the business of collecting premiums and fees, not fixing problems and paying claims.
Original review: Do not use these people. I had a policy with them several years ago and when we bought a new place after renting for 4 years, we bought a new policy. It must have been a different company. The online claim process does not allow an explanation of the issue, when they send the contractor to investigate they have no knowledge what problem is they need to be prepared for. The "inspector" came in, looked - just physically looked - at the refrigerator and told me "well, they will either repair it or replace it." Seriously? What was the point of the visit? To verify I had a refrigerator? He assured me he was sending the report to AHS that moment. But hey, within 8 minutes of the "inspector" leaving my home, I had an email asking me to rate him. It has been 5 days and AHS tells me the "report" is still not in their system. Oh, and the diagnosis is wrong.
God help you if you have to wait for AHS to actually process anything. I am now 5 days from the inspection, and 9 days from the initial report and on hold for nearly 5 hours, over 5 calls in total trying to get an answer. I am trying to get a supervisor to get on the call, but that is not happening. They just blew me off again about a supervisor. They have no intent to let me near a person with authority. Oh, and buried in the contract is the language they will limit the amount to a pittance of the premium they have collected from me. I will be filing a consumer complaint with the State of Washington. Never use these people. Ever.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

After raving reviews, I went with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD, (AHS) as my home warranty. With ease I was able to set up my first appointment. I was assigned a contractor and that where things go downhill. The contractor was parked outside of my home 15 minutes dealing with another issue on the phone. His vehicle speakers were loud enough to heat up the block. Once he entered my home I couldn’t get him to focus on the task without texting and then arguing with another AHS customer. The contractor kept going on and on about how that customer didn’t provide the correct address. It was extremely unprofessional and nerve wracking not to mention everything we must be concerned with at this time.
With all that being said the contractor diagnosed my refrigerator and stove in 5 minutes and told me he was going to put in a report request for my stove to be replaced since I needed three burners, switches, oven parts, and etc, but was going to Ofer parts for my refrigerator. But, honestly at that point, I did not feel comfortable with this particularly person coming back to my home.
So, I called the contractor's office and spoke with the office manager/dispatcher and requested if someone else could come by once the refrigerator parts come in. I asked her about the stove report, she told me the worker put the report in with AHS. She also told me that there was no other workers. That I had to stick with the assigned worker who came to my home. I explained the experience and told her how uncomfortable I was. AND this manager told the worker everything I said and here is where things got weird, and that worker called me to confront me about saying those things to the dispatcher and yelled at me and how long they have been doing their job. They were very aggressive. I regret this person knowing my address.
I absolutely knew I DID NOT WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. I reached out to AHS, numerous times to speak to a supervisor/manager to bring some kind of resolution... Of course, no manager was available. I requested a callback at least 6 times... I have yet to receive a callback. I requested a new contractor to complete the work and I was told a manager would for sure be calling me back for sure... nothing. NO ONE EVER CALLED.
Then apparently, the parts came in and I got a call from AHS saying the original contractor was trying to get a hold of me and couldn’t. I told that customer service representative that I requested over a month ago for the original contractor not to come to my home and I still need the work done to reassign the work. (In the meanwhile, Turns out my refrigerator was not broke but needed resetting). However, I was still waiting on the decision on my stove which was supposed to be in some kind of report to be replaced, due to the parts costing more than the stove’s value according to that worker.
Not to my surprise, the CSR did not know anything about a report and said from the beginning that the contractor put in order for parts. WOW! The level of dishonesty here is alarming. The worst thing is AHS has been silent in this matter... still no word from anyone. I am not sure if this is a trend, or what is going on, but warranty companies that were once considered decent have now neglected their customers and have turn a profit to your demise. AHS has yet to make my situation right. Do your research and I am beginning to question reviews that speak about their responsiveness and reliability when I have yet to experience that. I requested to have my master bedroom ceiling fan looked at due to it making a HUGE humming noise. The tech came out, said that it's due to the imbalance in the motor when spinning and that can just happen when something gets out of place. He then told me I would have to buy a fan myself and he would come out to install it. Like what? Arnt you guys suppose to replace them after I pay the call charge? I called AHS, (which took 3 calls, over 40 minute wait times each since they kept blowing me off saying the tech hasn't reported yet and it's been over a week, which they normally should give feedback withing 48hrs) and told them he did nothing.
AHS proceeded to tell me the tech stated that my fans are working and in their FINE PRINT CONTRACT they do not cover noises, even though that is a direct cause due to malfunction of the motor. They also WILL NOT refund me the charge even though they know ZERO work was done. The Tech never even took apart my fan or anything. He literally came in, turned on the fan, explained why its humming and left. A company with morals would simply just refund the call charge since it's a understandable mistake. I have never dealt with this kind of terrible customer service and tricky contract fine print for warranty. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. Be careful before you make a claim.

AHS doesn't have a local AC company here in Clermont. The two AC companies they use are located in Ocala, a place about three hours from where I live. It was 90 degrees upstairs in my house and I had to wait about five days to get somebody out. Fortunately, I've got AC units upstairs and downstairs, so I was able to use the basement part of the house. The contractor switched out the blown capacitor in the AC unit. It seemed to work, but that was four weeks ago. Now, my upstairs AC is not working again. I've had to call and have another appointment for them to come back out on Thursday. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with AHS.

Our claims experiences with Home Shield have been easy. It's extremely easy getting online and getting it done. Then, contractors come in and do what they need to do. We had an AC claim and the city had to come out and make sure the contractors did the repair right. The city had to approve it and the city didn't. The air is working fine. It's just the insulation on the outside was not covered or fixed properly or something like that around the hose. The contractor needed to come back out and someone has already been out. But then I got an email on Thursday saying they need to come back out. I called the office twice and no one knew what was going on and no one left a message.

I turned the spigot on, and water was spitting out all over the place. I called American Home Shield and I talked with a live person. I had to wait 50 minutes before they answered, then the rep finally came on and we talked. She took my money and put the claim in for me. She sent out the plumber and in the meantime, I couldn't wash any dishes and we had to use all alternatives until the unit was repaired. When the plumber came, he located the leak. He didn’t tell me where the leak was but he located everything that was needed. It took him 15 minutes to assess the problem and said it was bad. He told me to call American Home Shield to get a replacement and within five minutes, he said he would be back shortly. He called me in 30 minutes, came back and finished the job. He was professional and he did a good job. This claim was wonderful and everything's been good since.

But when it comes to the end of the year when it's time to renew the warranty, American Home Shield can lower the price. If I get the price go down, that’d be great. But it was a holiday weekend. And the rep apologized that we had to wait and that the system wouldn’t let us process it. Sub Zero Mechanical was called in because the air conditioning broke. They came in and assessed the problem that was due to the faulty connection on the air conditioner side. They replaced the connection, but the problem was still there. We had to call a different company a second time and that time, they realized it was a problem with the fuse. The contractors are pretty good and knowledgeable. The last one kind of assessed the situation on his own because he wanted to replace the compressor. But we replaced it last year so I told him I didn't think it was the compressor that's why he referred it to an electrician.
It takes significant amount of time to get ahold of a person at AHS. I submitted this claim through the phone and spent probably 2 hours waiting. I forgot my password for the online account, so I had to use the phone. I didn't expect the wait time to be nothing less than an hour. Every time I call in, it's definitely at least an hour wait time. But once I got ahold of the person, the issue was resolved. Right now, everything is up and running. I'm satisfied with AHS. It's a reliable service and I would definitely recommend considering them as a home warranty company.

Our air conditioning wasn't working and a tech came out. On his first trip last 11th of June, he didn't do much. He just walked around and checked the Freon. The air conditioner just got worse and worse and we didn't know why. We were about to call American Home Shield but we were out of town on Saturday. When we got home on Sunday afternoon and the house was 85 degrees.
My husband is a retired electrician and is probably a little more critical than most people. He was checking everything he could check on Sunday. He said the tech left the cap loose on one of the valves and all the Freon leaked out. The company said we have to pay $10 a pound for the Freon and we don't think that's fair. In the first place, he didn't have very good tools. He was in an unmarked truck that didn't have phone number of any kind info of who it belonged to. He was poorly equipped and my husband doesn't think he really knew what he was doing.
My husband says this was not a good experience and I would not recommend these people to anyone. We won't use them again and so should AHS. They have to find us someone else. In fact, we talked to the owner of the air conditioning company there in Livingston, All Pro. We told him that the man had left the cap loose and the Freon was gone. The tech even admitted yesterday that he left them loose. I said, "The only reason we had a horrible 24 hours is because you left the cap." He said, "Those caps are real hard to tighten up." But he put Freon in yesterday and he left them loose again. My husband had brought tools from his shop and went back out there to check, so he tightened them up yesterday afternoon. My husband said the tech was using 12-inch crescent wrench and that's not the proper tool to use on the service valves on an air conditioner.
We or American Home Shield should not have to pay for any Freon. We tried all day yesterday to reach AHS to tell them that the tech came back loosen the cap again. I wanna tell them that we or they shouldn't pay a bill. Quite frankly, I really need them to find us another repair service pretend we have a breakage somewhere. Because if AHS has one of those prevention plans where they come once a year and check things for you, I would rather go ahead and get to know them and have AHS put us on one of those annual visits.

Comfort First had to add a pound of freon to my air conditioner. The guy said I got a leak so he put a leak seal in it. He was a good guy. The pound of freon and the sealant that he put in there seem like they're holding. Everything seems like it's back to normal but I kinda hated that they couldn't check the seal. American Home Shield wouldn't let him find where the leak was. They had to come out there multiple times for them to get authorization from American Home Shield to check the leaks. At the end, American Home Shield only paid $10 per pound. That pound cost me 140 some dollars after the $10 being taken off. That's kinda expensive.
When Comfort First came out, they could have said they had all the equipment that they needed. I could have went out there and told them the model number of the air conditioner, what brand it is and what year it was built so when the guy came out there, they could have had everything they needed on the truck. He could have not come out 2 or 3 times to fix the problem and it could have been a one-time deal because they had all the information they needed.
I've had American Home Shield for a while and I never had any problems with them. However, back in the day, I was able to pick up the phone and call and talk to somebody. But now, I don't know if they are just busy but there's no more interaction with somebody you can actually talk to to get the situation resolved. I tried to talk to somebody, but when you try to talk to somebody, you’ll sit on the phone for hours before you can talk to one. I don't like waiting forever for somebody to pick up the phone.

The stove was not heating up and it needed a replacement for the heating element. The Appliance Whisperer took care of it as soon as the part came in -- it took about five days to get it in. They immediately installed it, and it took them less than 20 minutes to fix it. If it is something American Home Shield can fix immediately, they fix it immediately. If not, it takes a day or two sometimes. I had my water heater changed about two years ago, and they did that within three days. I had to find a water heater and then it was replaced. So, I'm happy with the service. Sometimes, however, it is a little hard to get through on the phone. There's a little bit of a wait. But, the wait is about 10 minutes, so it is not traumatic.

In the past, AHS has always been good. I had no complaints. I was with them for about 23 years and I noticed that over the years, they’ve just changed. They’re hard to get a hold of, number one. But number two, they’re just not as responsive as it used to be. This last occasion, I had a ceiling fan go out and I had to contact them using the computer. There’s nobody that picks up on the phone. They switched to offshore phone reception. I got an okay to have the fan fixed or replaced and had the electrician come out. He says, “Your bearings are shut. Might as well just buy a new fan.” I said okay. He put it in and sent a bill to AHS. I spent about 300 bucks for the fan. AHS, he said, generally makes good on about $80 to a $100 of it.
I never a received a reply, so I contacted AHS. I ask what’s the deal and they said, “We’re not gonna honor that. You didn’t get our permission to buy a new fan.” I said, “The electrician told me to, and he’s the guy that you sent out. So I assumed that it had your blessing.” They said no and it was, once again, an offshore situation.
It soured me with AHS. Their price has had gone up over the years, too. I have since found another company and that’s who I’m going with. This new company that I’m gonna be dealing with, I get the same coverage plus a little more for about $20 a month less. In fact, I have a letter that I’m mailing to AHS tomorrow telling them that I am done with their business.

My oven wasn’t working. Originally, Sears came out and they wouldn’t touch our oven because there’s no sticker on it. We purchased a brand-new home with the oven like that. I got frustrated with Sears initially because the guy came in and he wasn’t even there five minutes. Then, Home Shield sent out this other company, GilTech Appliance and they said the same thing. They said they believe it's a fuse but they couldn't touch it until Home Shield gives an approval. Home Shield hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I called in their customer service and I asked if they normally fix an appliance if it doesn’t have a sticker and the guy would not give me an answer. I got frustrated because I have six kids and we have no oven.
Also, it took a long time for them to repair our fridge. It took over two and a half weeks. The guy who did the fridge was super sweet and he was a really nice guy. It was just he ordered a part from one of his friends and it didn’t work. We had to wait twice as long. The fridge got fixed and we were very thankful for that but that experience has made us a little bit anxious. And I don’t want to have the same situation occur. If I need to go out and buy an oven, I’d rather just know than sit and wait. I was going to cancel our membership just because I feel like the customer service should be able to answer my question. It’s either they’re gonna be able to fix it without a sticker or they’re not.

The guy that American Home Shield sent did a great job but we have two compressors and he only fixed one. The second compressor was also having the same issue as the first. He said that he could only fix one at a time and that I would have to make another service call. The dude was here, it took him two seconds to replace the capacitor and he said that I gotta call AHS again. When I tell them that my air conditioners don’t work, they should fix them both. If someone says that he is here and he can fix the other one and it’s a $50 add on, then at least there’s a conversation. This guy did what he was supposed to do based on their contract with AHS but as both a homeowner and a businessman, that was both frustrating and idiotic. So, I’m waiting to see if that unit either completely breaks or what happens because it’s kinda working but it’s not totally satisfactory.
It would have been cheaper for AHS to have him fix it. If it keeps jumpstarting and breaks completely, then AHS gotta replace the whole darn thing. Sometimes, AHS is very shortsighted with the items versus what could be a bigger deal. My most current claim is still open and we’re almost a month into it now. I had a blockage in one of my bathrooms on the upper floor and it’s still blocked. The first time I submitted the claim, I was told that a certain plumbing company here in Chicago would be contacting me but they never did. So, after several days, I finally contacted AHS and asked if they were going to come out and fix my plumbing. They finally sent someone but he did not fix it. Then, he left. They needed to get beyond the toilet so that was a $400 fee to unscrew two bolts and pick a toilet up and move it.
When I contacted again the service company that was dispatched, they just said that they were not working with AHS. If I want them to come out, it’s a lot of money. I said that it was not the contract that I have. The contract says, “Fix it.” If something’s in the way, I either have to pay for the access or just provide the access, which means, I’ll unscrew the toilet and pick it up. I can do that. I finally got a supervisor at American Home Shield who said that they would send out the contractor and that they should be contacting me to schedule it. That was a week ago and I still haven’t heard from anybody. So, I’ve got plumbing that’s still not working and they haven’t fixed it. At some point, it starts to become a breach of contract.
These are the first two problems I’ve had and I’ve had American Home Shield for years. I had it in my house in Colorado and I had air conditioning problems at least twice a year, and AHS had sent people out and fixed it. Or not fix it, but at least they do what they could. I had a problem with my clothes washer and they got someone who fixed it. I own a rental house in Austin, Texas and the contractors came out and fixed the heating unit and the water pressure regulator. The plan either almost or sometimes more than pays for itself, but the execution of these two items lately has been frustrating. I’m not that upset about the air conditioner because it kinda works. If it breaks the compressor by doing this and the whole thing has to be replaced, the only concern I have is getting it through the house because it’s on the roof.
The issue about the plumbing is massively frustrating though. I have a bathroom I can’t use. We got four in the house so I don’t care in the short-term but I’d like to use the one that’s in my office, which is broken and no one has fixed it. The plumbing company even had the audacity to say that if I want them to come fix it, they have to drag some 500-pound piece of equipment upstairs to that bathroom. These houses in Chicago are very tall, narrow and have incredibly expensive fitting-out. So, they can’t damage my floors, my walls and any of the trim. They just need to come and fix it, and when it’s done, they have to have never been here.
I told the American Home Shield person that I didn’t want anyone to come out except them. The rep said that they would have to charge me another service fee. So, I said to them to get someone to come and fix it, don’t damage my house or the attorneys start getting involved and I’ll sue because this is just that frustrating. Whether it’s AHS for breach of contract or it’s the local plumbing company because they don’t know how to do work in the house without stirring it up, someone’s gotta get this done.

American Home Shield's claims process is very easy. I was very pleased. My oldest granddaughter and husband got into that program when they bought their house and they have been very happy. So that's how we came to decide we better get it just in case. We had a leak in our washer and it was the first time we had to use them. It was very easy and our problem got fixed.
We have a newer washer which weighs the clothing to know how much water to put in. Because of the leak, sometimes water would be left and there would already be water in the washer when we put the clothes in. But it was also dripping water constantly. So we weren’t getting as much water to wash our clothes. Maughanster Appliance Repair showed up right on schedule and there were no problems. The tech checked the washer out and found out what was wrong, and they had to order the parts. He said he would call us as soon as he got the part. It was a Friday or Saturday that he came. By Wednesday, they called us and had the part. We set up an appointment and he came and fixed it. And the washer has been perfect ever since.

Even though our thermostat was set to 70 and was reading 70, the actual temperature in our house was reading as 76 on a separate temperature gauge. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and it took a while to hear from them regarding who our assigned contractor would be. While the process was smooth and the rep from Clifton Heating was able to get back to us fairly quickly, it took them three weeks to come out. The first time their techs came out, they diagnosed everything and said that we needed 10 pounds of Freon. Plus, they said a coil of ours was leaking and that had to be replaced as well. From there, it took them another week to come back and fix things. However, they did not fix the issue and they're now coming back to replace a compressor.

AHS's contractors did their best. But the last one who came really paid closer attention to our appliance issue. We were suggesting something that might be one of the issues with it and he fixed that. Now, it's running great. Overall, AHS has been very responsive. Every time we've needed something addressed, it has been taken care of.

We had a clogged drain. Shields Plumbing came out and fixed it. Filing a claim was an easy process. The only thing I didn't like was that AHS didn't tell me upfront what the fee was upfront. I didn't find that out until later after they had already processed the claim. AHS should give the layout of the fees because even if going on the website, it doesn't have any kind of fees on it.

Durham Contractors came out for a leaking toilet and they told me that they sealed it. They did the repair that same day, and everything has been working fine since. I've also sent a claim for my garage door before this one and it was good, too. I have American Home Shield since January and I like it because when they come to repair things, I can just pay the deductible and have it repaired. I don’t have to worry about coming up with a lump sum of money at one time. American Home Shield is good to me.

247 America Air Conditioning & Heating was great, so I highly recommend them. A nice kid came out really late and got the job done. He was nice about it and he didn't linger. He was also very knowledgeable and educational. I have recommended American Home Shield to friends as well. The process of submitting claims takes a while sometimes, but depending on what companies they hire, it makes it good or bad. If the companies are good and they're very responsive, then it's golden. It works. If it's not good companies that they hire though, then it’s not good.

We submitted a claim with AHS because our heat pump had gone out. Then within four days of the contractors putting the Freon in it, it all leaked out, so replacing that again. So, we filed another claim. Then three and a half weeks later, we finally got a heat pump. Baskett's Repair was great. American Home Shield was awful.
When the initial heat pump came in on the Monday before they installed it, it had been damaged in shipping. Baskett's sent it back, 'cause they said "Even if it worked initially, within five years you're gonna have a problem." They told AHS that they had to get a new heat pump. They did and then, something went awry with American Home Shield and they sent the purchase order to a different warehouse. When Baskett's got there on that Friday, which was the second Friday we had taken off, AHS had not paid the purchase order. Baskett's went above and beyond and said, "Just put it on our account. We'll make sure it gets paid." They were able to get the heat pump. 'Cause that was literally the last heat pump that was available that was there. Because the other ones because of COVID, the heat pump company was behind in their getting the heat pumps made. Baskett's went ahead, got the equipment and got it in and got it installed.
It took me over two hours on the phone with American Home Shield to try to get it corrected, to try to get them to pay the right purchase order. I haven't heard back from Baskett's and it's been a week and a half. So, I guess it got paid correctly finally. Finally, like after it was at least, about an hour and 40 minutes before I got a supervisor on the phone, which none of them could understand me, they couldn't speak English. When you're customer service, I need you to understand what I'm saying and she did not understand it. I finally told her, "You are not understanding or hearing or listening to me. If you do not pay that purchase order, I will file a Better Business Bureau complaint."
The heat pump is doing great. However, I said, "I'm gonna cancel. I am not using American Home Shield anymore. They're not getting any more money." The Baskett's Repair guy said, "On reality, I answer about 50 of their calls a month. This is the only one this month I've had a problem with. Just give them a chance." He stood up for American Home Shield and calmed me down. So, we're waiting to see if it's paid like it should have been. But Baskett's did great.

The contractor came and did the repair, but it was so bad. I thought that I was being too fussy and sent a picture to my son. He said that I couldn't live with that. I then sent a picture to a guy at my church and he said that he'd come over and look at it. He said that it was horrible. He got a drywall man for me who did the repair.
AHS said to call the company back. Ordinarily, I can put up with repeat visits, but they refused to come back. They said that they couldn't do it any better. I called them and said that it was unacceptable. He said that it was for a roof repair. I didn't expect them to paint it. I hired a professional painter to come in and paint. The painter gave me an estimate of $167 to redo the repair. It was an unacceptable situation. At that point, I was over it. It took a week to get the repair done with the plumbing. They had to make three trips and they sent four different men into my home. I’m a state nurse for COVID and I work with COVID patients, so this was a risk to them more than me. The last two plumbers that came did not have masks. I told them to go back and that they couldn't come into my house without a mask.
AHS saves money in the long run but you work for it. And you have to pay 100 bucks for the service call, which I understand because people would call for dumb stuff. I called twice on other things and both of the repairs did not require parts. They were basically free calls for AHS but I didn't know that when I called them. I’m a widow and I live alone. It’s probably worth it for someone in my circumstance. It’s not worth it if you have a man that’s handy who can pull out a washing machine and look behind it to see if there's a dead squirrel in there.

I have been without AC since Memorial Day. I paid my deductible to have a piss poor (has a 1 star rating) company come out to look at my AC unit and hopefully get it running. My heating issue was also sent to Extreme Heating & Air (the same piss poor company with horrible ratings who American Home Shield arranged for my AC issues). Neither job was completed yet my American Home Shield work orders state complete. I have paid to have 2 other HVAC companies come out to get an estimate on the repairs. I come out cheaper if I do not use my so called home warranty. Extreme Heating & Air never addressed the heating element.
They have only made one service call to my house and that was for the AC. They stated my AC compressor needed to be replaced. The two other companies that came out told me the compressor was indeed out but the heater converter switch needed to be replace, and the condenser coils on my AC were corroding. They both told me it made no sense to just replace the compressor. They stated it seemed Extreme Heating & Air was trying to secure trouble shooting visits because just replacing the compressor would cause the unit to overheat and the circuit breaker to continue to trip. (Lining their pockets in a sense with repeat business on incomplete jobs) Both companies told me rather I use them or not I would need a new unit.
Extreme Heating & Air would cost me over $1000 out of pocket just to replace the compressor. I can get a refurbished unit for a little over $600 through either of the two HVAC providers I called for 2nd opinions and price comparison. American Home Shield dropped the ball on their contractor selection and lacks with the follow ups. If I want the issues resolved I must go outside my contract and that makes my home warranty absolutely worthless and a waste of money.

This company sent out an a/c company to repair our 17 year old a/c. They did not fix it and the tech indicated it needed replacement and would report so. When the warranty company called they indicated we would have to pay $1700 for non covered items. We requested a detailed list of these items which we never received. They left us without a/c for over 3 weeks while I had to get an independent company to replace the a/c because American Home Shield would not provide me with info about what was wrong. Then I had to argue to get my refund for the original service call. After lack of response and calls back, AHS argued with us about cancelling. They delay so they don't have to pay.

We have been AHS customers for several years, on Saturday June 20, 2020, our refrigerator went down. I placed a service request online. On Monday morning I checked the status of our request and saw we had a service company assigned. But it said we had to call and make an appointment, we called and they could not come until Thursday June 25th, but AHS took our service payment on Monday. They came in the afternoon and we were told the refrigerator could not be repaired.
We called AHS the next day and the customer service person checked with the service company and said, yes AHS had the information from them. We asked how long it would take to get a replacement and were told that was another department and we would have to wait until they called us. We have been trying to get ahold of someone all afternoon today, Monday June 29th, were on hold for over an hour and when they finally answered we were disconnected. Just need an answer but everyone is busy with other customers. After this I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to anyone.

Our ac went out, filed a claim with AHS. On the 3rd day of no contact we called AHS back to advise no contact from THEIR contracted vendor. Finally got a call from vendor. Vendor looked at unit and said it needs to be replaced. Called AHS back to advise them and asked them at that time what kind of out of pocket expenses to be expected. We were told it should all be covered. We had also called a few years ago to confirm by having this warranty there would be minimal to no out of pocket expenses for items that need repair or replacement, got the enthusiastic “none you will be covered!” I have kept this warranty specifically for the hvac system because I knew buying this house they would go out eventually. So this is 2 times I have been told the units would be covered. Again, called in and spoke to a representative from AHS to confirm this.
Got a call today from AHS stating they will pay 1500 and I have to pay over 2400. Not certain where the breakdown in communication between the 2 reps I spoke to and the lady that was barely able to be understood today came in to play. This lady referred me to my contract that states AHS will it up to 1500 per contract term for repairs to ac unit. Again, I have spoken to 2 AHS reps, one last week, that told me the opposite. Now I am expected to pay 60% of the cost of the unit and labor, not to mention whatever the cost of Freon will be since they also state they will only pay $10 per... The issue from what the AHS supplier vendor is that the compressor is bad. I’m not asking for an entire system replacement like they are telling me it needs. I just want what I have repaired.
I don’t care about who what when or why, I was told by 2 AHS reps over the last 5 years this was covered which is why I have spent over $700 a year to keep this warranty. I want a resolution immediately. Also, the vendor AHS supplied warned me of this when he was here, which prompted the call to AHS last week to verify the unit is covered. He also told me the other unit I have needs to be replaced as well but AHS will not replace both. So my question is, what is this warranty for if AHS says they cover and then when time comes for them to pay, they pay 40%?? This sounds like a Bbb complaint or possibly insurance commission complaint. I’ll wait a few days to see if I get resolution.

I purchased my home October 2019 and have filed 4 work orders to to stoppages in my plumbing. On the 3rd plumbing visit, the contractor suspected a separation in my plumbing just outside of the foundation. AHS denied the claim stating that they only fix issues under the foundation. On this last plumbing visit, I paid $200 to have the technician run a camera in my lines and he confirmed the separation outside of the foundation but he also found 2 additional separations under the foundation.
AHS is denying that claim as well because he found roots in the separations. With pipes broken under the foundation and a steady supply of water, where do you think roots are going to go!? The separations are toward the back of my house and there are no trees anywhere near but because of the steady supply of water, roots have grown to these separations - but still, AHS has yet another excuse not to pay for anything. It was a complete waste of money to get the home warranty - save yourself hours of on hold time just to talk to a foreigner that you won't be able to understand just to be given yet another excuse as to why your home warranty won't cover it.

I requested a service for my A/C unit due to not cooling. My request was answered in a timely manner and an appointment was established. The technician was very professional and determined my issue. I was then advised to set up another work order to correct the issue. I called AHS, which I was on hold for an hour, the AHS agent was very unprofessional AND rude and asked "Why I need to speak with a supervisor?" During this time I was placed on mute for approximately 1 hour and 30 more minutes only to be hung up on. I had to make a repeat call only to have to schedule another work order through my online portal.
Well today as I waited to for the technician to arrive, it was determined that AHS cancelled by work order without prior notice. I am currently on hold again today for the second time over an hour. From my understanding AHS will not cover any cost for my repairs. This service is a joke and only acting as a middle man to set an appointment for technician to come to my home. Prior to this claim, I've had a garage door issue and a thermostat issue that I've filed claims for with AHS and those claims went fine. With AHS though, if their contractor doesn't have a part, they gotta go back and order it. This should be much quicker in this day and age. A lot of parts can come overnight. We're still without a refrigerator right now and though we have a backup it would be nice if things were expedited. I can understand a few days, but anything over a week seems awful long. American Home Shield sent Greenway Home Services out for my AC. The unit froze up completely, and it was not pushing out any cold air. There was no air movement coming out at all. Usually when that happens, I know enough to turn it off because it’s gonna burn up the compressor. So, I turned it off for 24 hours and then turned it back on, and everything seemed to be running fine. But I didn't cancel the appointment because it was over the weekend and I just wanted someone to come out and look at it regardless.
Greenway sent a super nice guy. He was very professional. I told him everything was running fine, and it had been for a couple days. He went through it, checked the pressures and everything and said everything seemed to be running fine. There was a dust storm here in Tennessee. I sprayed down all the coils too and it seems that I was able to fix it myself. But I wanted a professional to look at it just to make sure there was nothing more wrong with it. He didn't have to fix anything, but I asked him to just check the system and make sure everything was working properly. That was what he did. So far, American Home Shield has been great.

I had a claim with American Home Shield on an appliance issue. Precision Appliance Repair came out, and their guy found out that it was just a discharge vent that was clogged up. He just put a thermostat in there. So, regardless, it’s working fine. It clogged up. I got an email from AHS that they aren’t responsible for it. They don’t fix the maintenance on it. So, I got it taken care of.
Having American Home Shield is worth the money. I got it because I bought this house new. It’s a new build. It's almost 12 years old now. So, I figured I'm gonna start having problems with everything in it because everything was new. I looked at four other competitors and AHS seemed a little more professional type with what they offered versus the cheaper ones that didn't really have a bunch of stuff that I know is gonna cost money when it goes out. We were gonna sell the house after keeping it. So, I figured I’d get insurance on everything else.
The only thing is I didn't get the login at first. It took a while to get through on a call, but on the second time, I just went into my account with them and put it in there, and it was really fast after that. Now, I know how to log in. I was able to speak with somebody. I told her exactly what was going on. When the service guy got here, he knew exactly what was wrong before he even looked at it. So, that was pretty fast. I did tell a bunch of my friends that have their own homes about AHS.

The contractor was on time and they were very professional. They wore masks. The guy gave me some tips about the sink and the garbage disposal in the kitchen. He fixed everything that I needed and explained everything that he fixed. There really wasn’t an issue in the kitchen like I thought there was. It was a matter of allowing time for the water to drain because of the disposal. I also had a clogged shower drain upstairs, which was just sediment that had settled in the shower head and he said to try to flush that once a year. That would alleviate the weak water pressure.
My condo was newly built when I got the coverage from American Home Shield and I may have only had two claims but I continued to keep it. There was an $8 increase in price that was surprising because I wasn’t told. That was fine but I would like a notice. The young man from Epic Mechanical was very knowledgeable and he came in. He didn't dally along. After I explained whatever was going on, he knew exactly. That’s what I appreciate. He did his work and then he left. The only thing that I don’t appreciate with the warranty thing is they make you wait 48 hours. My payment just came out of the bank, and I didn’t appreciate not being able to have service prior because they have to wait till my money clears because after five times of using, nothing’s bounced, and I hadn't stopped payment. But they make me wait till that’s over and then they make me wait 24 hours again. But there again, if I called a service guy, especially with air conditioner right now, it would be two days probably, anyway so there are pros and cons.
I actually did not think I’d use AHS this much, but there’s been something all the time and that’s the way houses are. The guy came to do my drain out one day. I asked how much was his cost. He said it would've just been $125. I had to pay 100 which is fine. Everything is gonna balance out. Then if I had a man to call, there may have been a different attitude. I tried to unstop the hose from the air conditioner another time and the guy said that if I would've done it, I would've probably caused this. I’ve lived in this house 50 years and I was telling him what's going on.
One time, he said, “Ma’am, would you send your husband? You don’t know what you’re talking about.” That’s my peeve, is I don’t appreciate that from people. He could’ve been having a bad day. This man may have had controversy, but when I called him on the phone, that was the first time that I was irritated. I called the company rather and they said, “Don’t you think there's other people that’s got air conditioners out too?” I told them that I called them on Saturday and I only got service on Wednesday. I explained to them it would only take them five minutes, that there were other people ahead of me. So, that’s bad. But other things like my refrigerator, which was a recall because they didn't fix my problem the first time, but they came right back when I called. They didn't wait for that 24 hours for my money to come out and then another 24 hours to send somebody out. Without that, the service has been great with everybody.
The only reason that I bought American Shield is my granddaughter bought a house. We were kinda devastated because the real estate people would come and check everything. The heat and air conditioner went out right after she got the house and she had that warranty. It was really a blessing. She had the choice that they would fix it, but then she gotta pay all this. But they gave her $1,900 toward a new one, which paid half of it. That’s where I have told everybody that if they have a house like this one and there's a problem all the time…I definitely would recommend it.

I have American Home Shield on two homes and I’ll probably continue to put it on any home that we need to. It’s convenient for those that just aren’t handy in the least bit so they can just call or schedule somebody. Typically, AHS takes care of it within that first $100 service call. Very rarely have I had to pay on top of that. I think it was for electrical stuff one time. Also, my mom is older, so it gives her peace of mind knowing she can just call and get somebody out there. It's just that I don’t think I understood the structure of the contract when I initially signed up. I knew it was like month-to-month and that I can cancel it anytime. But as I called them and kinda dug into it, there was some contract in play, and I still didn’t know the details or something was wrong in there. I don’t really care too because things are going okay.
Allstate Plumbing Colorado was fantastic and they recently came out for our garbage disposal. They were seamless as far as scheduling it and them calling me. I scheduled it through AHS. They called me, and within a couple of days, we had somebody at the house. The technician was knowledgeable and explained the reasons why the garbage disposal was messed up. Not only that, when he was messing with it, my mom was interacting with him a lot, but he was really cognizant and aware of making other things dirty. He laid out towels and made things really nice on the floor, on the wall, and little details like that. He was good and professional. Overall, we were very pleased.

Grady's Air was sent out by American Home Shield for an issue I had. When the tech came out, our unit wasn't cooling again. He did a great job. They really are really cool and very professional people. I was very impressed with their service. When he came back out the second time, the issue ended up being the shutoff on the side of the house. There's a breaker right by the AC unit and the tab was just old on it. When the tech pulled it out, it came off. When he replaced that, everything came right back up like it was supposed to. The unit is doing really good.
It was cool that it was the same tech that came. He just happened to be on call. He was really good about telling me everything he was doing. Instead of just doing it, he explained, "Hey, this is what's going on, and this is why, and this is what it controls." For someone who doesn't know and a homeowner, it makes me kinda feel a little bit better because somebody's just not messing around out there. He really does nice work. American Home Shield is great. I had never had to call them. But now that I've had to, I'm super happy I have them. I bought the house a year ago and my real estate agent bought this home warranty as a gift for me. It was awesome.

Northwind Heating and Air came out due to a service call that went through AHS. It was for the air conditioner in my family room and they were the preferred vendor. Submitting the claim on the website was easy. The website said that we would hear from somebody within 24 hours and we did. We don’t always turn the air conditioner on, but that week, we were expecting 100-degree weather so we wanted to make sure that it was working. The contractor was very professional. Due to COVID-19, he put all of his protective protocols in place. He didn’t take very long to fix the air conditioner. AHS has been very efficient. I received an email from them reminding me of my home warranty, and that was nice.

I've been with Home Shield for a number of years. I've had it on a rental property I had. Right now, I'm a little upset because my AC has been out for over a week. Due to this AC claim I made over a week ago, I'm in 100+ weather. Home Shield sent a technician the next day. They were very good about sending a technician right away. The problem is rather than allowing the company that they contracted with to get the part, Home Shield said, “No, we're going to order the parts,” so it takes them three to five days to order the parts, and then they have to ship the part to the contractor. I'll be sitting here for two weeks without AC because Home Shield has an inefficient system when it comes to that. But when Five Star Plumbing came out to do a garbage disposal, they were also right over the next day and the tech was very good. I'm satisfied with Home Shield. I have recommended them to several of my friends.

The plumbing company was great. I had to get a hot water replaced, so it took them a few days to get that in and then they installed it right away. I did have to pay 460 out of pocket for different items, which I wasn’t expecting, but I covered that. Overall, Home Shield is pretty efficient. But I would evaluate the annual premiums.

I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I renewed after the first year because I've realized the importance of having a home warranty. I did not have one up until this time, and so when things break down, I don't have to pay all that out-of-pocket expenses.

American Home Shield got somebody here as quickly as they could for my AC issue. As soon as the tech from Climate Heating And Cooling walked here and told me what was wrong, he pretty well knew what was going on. He had another guy with him who was a trainee. They went through all the checks and points, and services, and made sure that what he thought it was was what it was by running pressure tests and things like that. Then what we came up with was the fact that we were low on Freon. He had to put a couple of pounds of Freon in. He also said that the filter I had in there had run its course and I needed to change it, which I did. Since then, I have had air again.
I've had one other call and I had the service the next day with the company. I had a plumbing issue and my drain was plugged. I had done everything I could to get it unplugged. It was draining very slowly. the representative did everything he could to run a snake through it and it didn’t work. So, he called his boss and they put all-new stuff in it. Now, it's working absolutely great.

And one time, they called me earlier because the job before my appointment was done early, so they asked me if it was okay if they could come early, if I was available or not. So, it was good. They were very professional and they came on time. Since then, the toilet has been working fine. The repair helped a lot because I was not able to use the bathroom, and now I can use it. We bought our American Home Shield home warranty when we bought a house. My friend also talked me into it. I had Sears and I wasn't happy with it on certain appliances. When I made a claim for my icemaker, American Home Shield assigned it to Sears to fix it. This time, they had somebody who was able to do it. The tech put in a new one because the icemaker wasn't working at all. It couldn't be fixed. The one I have now has worked perfectly.
I also have a second home at Clearlake and American Home Shield did a good job up there. I'm very happy with it. It's just the person that they send but that has nothing to do with American Home Shield. You get the workers that come out and that company might be good or bad. But American Home Shield has sent a different person and a different company after two tries. They listen to me and respond. They're good. I'm trying to get my daughter to buy the home warranty. Every time she whines that something happened, I go, "If you would have bought this, in one visit, it would have made a difference." But she goes out and buys a new refrigerator, which is ridiculous.

AHS sends somebody out and they do their repairs. I can't complain about that. The reps are also very accommodating. When you get them on the phone, they're very nice. But I've not been very happy with AHS lately. My experience used to be great with their service. But in the last couple of years, it's not been as good. In fact, I was thinking of changing. There's another company that's been advertising and I've thought about switching to them and see how they are.
Submitting claims with AHS is difficult in a lot of ways. They used to have staff working in the United States but now, you get people in the Philippines and it's very difficult to communicate with them. The reps probably understand me better than I understand them with their accents. I'm a senior, and in a lot of ways, maybe that has a lot to do with my communication. I've also been on hold one day for 45 minutes. I've even pushed the button to get their accounting department so maybe I could speak to somebody but it's the same thing. You're on hold forever for them. I like those companies where you can put your phone number in and hang up, then they call you back when they have a line available.

The blower motor on my furnace was bad. I submitted the claim on the computer and their website was okay. However, it assumed that I did not know what was wrong with the furnace. It could’ve asked me if I knew what was wrong with it. Nevertheless, the guy from Majestic Custom Heating & Air was excellent. He put a new blower motor in. Here in Minnesota, it is over 90, which is hot. So, I had one day that I could check the heat before I turned on the air condition, and it didn’t appear that the heat worked. What concerns me about American Home Shield is that, “Am I going to have to pay the $75 for another charge ‘cause it doesn’t heat in the fall?” Nevertheless, this company has been fine.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and their website was amazing. They sent a person who tested everything. He said there was a problem with the water line as the water pressure was not enough for my refrigerator to make ice cubes. He went back and sent someone from Allstate Plumbing Colorado. The plumber came and changed my valves. He did the water line as well and the ice maker still did not work. He said something was frozen at the back and thawed everything. Updated on 07/01/2020: July 1. In response to my Consumer Affairs review (complaint) on June 28, someone finally responded today and said "We do apologize for the inconvenience and your work was not properly done. It is not our intent to cause your experience difficult. We do appreciate you for sharing your experience. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further." In a second (not public) email they said "An email has been sent as well as a form of contact." They have NOT DONE THIS. STILL WAITING. The least they could do is send an email. I am NOT going to call and sit on hold for an hour only to have them tell me they cannot transfer the call anywhere and hang up.
Original Review: I have been trying to get a problem with my duct work resolved since June 5. There is no air flow. The air conditioner works, but no air flow. Rather than send a company that works with deck work, they sent an HVAC company. He said my duct work was never connected. In a 15 year old building with no prior problems. I spent two full weeks trying to get them to give me a second opinion from someone that knew something about duct work. FOUR times I was told they were escalating the problem then was told it was never escalated. The call was then disconnected. Every call, I had to wait on hold for at least an hour. Twice after holding for two hours, the call was disconnected. I finally got into a 20 minute fight with a rep trying to cancel my contract. He kept telling me what a great company they are.
Finally transferred me (another 10 minute hold) to someone that spent another 10 minutes arguing with me before she finally cancelled it at the end of the month (July 4). An hour later they assigned another HVAC company who could schedule me in 4 days later to see what the problem is, but they do not do duct work. No one ever showed. When I went back to the appointment information, Found that the appointment was canceled. As this has taken almost a month, and they charged me $75 for the service call and my duct work has not magically healed itself, tell me: WHAT GOOD IS A SERVICE COMPANY THAT ONLY TAKES YOUR MONEY BUT PROVIDES NO SERVICE? Would I recommend them? NO Way in hell. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD: WE TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT PROVIDE NO SERVICE.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Fast Response Heating and Cooling in Columbus, OH does not provide quality service, has 1 star customer satisfaction ratings, fraud alert on their profile, and not BBB accredited. Unfortunately, they were sent to service my AC unit by an AHS, which was good to me for 20 years. My AC unit is 30 years old, and this company refused to address the issues like freon leaking, which is bad for environment, next to nothing cooling performance, therefore making it running non stop (super loud) with little relief from summer heat and humidity. Fast Response Heating and Cooling send 2 technicians, where first changed the outside valve, that produced small leak that was not there before, and filled my half dead unit with $327 worth of freon, plus collected $75 service fee. I called and left the message the same evening, stating that house was hot as before.
Second tech was a young woman, Brooke, she really gave her best to check out the unit (unlike Robert), and I liked her cheerful and easygoing personality, and I guess I really wanted it to work out this time... But a week later another man came, Chris is his name, he came only to offer me the deal to buy the whole new unit plus the furnace for $$, stating that he will submit a replacement claim to AHS, but it's unlikely that they will pay, since AHS is about putting band aid. I was surprised when days later, called AHS and was told that replacement was not recommended, and my AC is working just fine.?? He has lost interest when I turned down his personal replacement offer. The office personnel is not helpful and wants me to go away.
