Our dishwasher wasn't draining and we filed a claim to American Home Shield. I filled out the form online and the website was fine. I've used it before. The contractor texted me and when he came, we didn't talk because he was wearing a mask and we were wearing masks too. I let him in, showed him to the kitchen and I went to the other room. Since then, everything has been perfect and the dishwasher has been fixed. American Home Shield is good. When we bought our house, it came with a number of appliances that were close to being near or past their expiration date. So, I wanted to make sure that we weren't blindsided.

Home Shield has come through, overall, but there have been some issues. We paid more than twice for the dishwasher and they kept throwing the ball at someone else. They kept bringing and sending people. They said it was a plumbing issue and then, it was an electrical issue. They couldn't figure it out and we kept telling them what it was because we use the dishwasher and knew it wasn’t working correctly. They kept saying that nothing was wrong with it.
Throughout the whole process, our floor got damaged. It’s really noticeable. But they said they don’t cover secondary. They said everything was fine and in working condition, until they were able to tell that stuff was actually happening. We can say about the same thing with the fridge claim. It did water damage. They came twice and we're still not 100 with the fridge, but we haven't bothered anybody anymore. Now the floor is something else that we’re gonna have to do.
Also, there was a leak on our AC unit and Austin Heating & Air came out. The tech took care of everything and answered all my questions. We told him there's like a tube that comes down from our garage ceiling and we had to ask him. He said should our system fail or should it freeze up, that it's just the excess that drains out, which made sense. He refilled it with Freon. That was a couple of weeks ago and recently, the unit is doing it again.

We had Sears come out one time and they’re horrible but the Fix-it Guys are amazing. They were out real quick. However, I am in question about AHS as my home warranty provider. They started calling 3 or 4 months before the policy was due for renewal. They constantly hounded us. Finally, one guy came here and told us they were gonna go ahead and renew it. I told them I needed to wait closer to the date. He told me he was gonna go ahead and kind of charge my charge card. It has been nothing but havoc. They can’t seem to get the right hand to know what the left hand is doing. I asked them how many times were they taking it out of my charge card and told them that I need it refunded back. Right now, I’m still waiting. That is my biggest complaint.

For some reason, whatever temperature I put the AC on, it went back to a lot higher than it was. I left a message for The Right Guys and then the following day, they called me and told me thee times a person was gonna come. They came between those hours that were promised and took care of the problem. They were there for about 20 minutes and they fixed it. The result was quite good and I was quite satisfied.

The 2 men from Ace's Garage Door Repair did an excellent job. They came in and followed social distancing. They completely explained the problem. They said the spring on the right side of the garage door was broken. They even put it in words that were adequate to me where I could understand. They said it’s similar to car brakes. They wear down and can break. They said no brakes on a car wears out the same time so I could replace 1 spring if I wanted or I could pay extra and replace both. I told them to replace just 1 and they told me that was covered under my policy. They also told me they would let me know when they were done then I could test it out and see if that was to my approval. They cleaned my tracks and checked the sensors. They explained to me to make sure the sensors are clean all the time. They also explained what the metal clasps on the sides are for. They were very thorough.
It would be good if I had a follow-up like an automated call very briefly after every service call. That way, we could say our opinion on how that particular company worked out. I had one issue with a contractor with calling, scheduling, and getting them to come. Other than that, I haven’t had any issues with American Home Shield. I had a heating issue right after I got my warranty in 2018. A contractor came out and replaced the entire thermostat.

A to Z Electric came out and the fix was actually just the little reset thing on the outlet in the garage. I didn’t realize one was even out there. I knew that they have the little reset buttons in the bathrooms because it’s close to water. But in the garage, I was thinking the outlet was way at the top of the ceiling, which I couldn’t see it. We were telling the technician one that did not work either and he checked that other one. Then I saw him pushing the button. Then he helped me with the other issues and questions that I had as well. He was very helpful and informative. He didn’t make himself stupid so that was good and everything is fine now.
I’ve dealt with the warranty company twice and the service has been really favorable. If not for American Home Shield, I would’ve been calling someone else for whatever it might have been and been at their mercy since the work would have to get done. So it’s been good. The shower issue, with turning it on and off, was also fixed.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I liked the contractor that came out for our recent claim with AHS. They fixed the problem. They made an appointment, and then whoever they assigned to it, called and said when they were coming. If they ended up running late, they called. Then they had a dispatcher and they kept in touch. AHS kind of messed up in the beginning. When I first signed up for it, there was supposed to be a free rekey, and the guy that answered the phone said I wasn’t eligible for that for 30 days. I paid for the rekey out of my pocket. Somebody was gonna see if I could at least get some of that money reimbursed, but they didn’t follow up on that. Then there was something else that was a little weird that was along the same lines. But after that mess up, anybody they’ve ever sent out was good except for one plumber and one electrician who didn’t solve the problem. All in all, I’m happy with AHS. I would renew with them.

Everything went wonderful with my recent claim with AHS. The contractor was great. He knew what he was doing. They came out right away, like the day after ’cause they had to go around my schedule. But after they ordered the part, it was about a week. He had to order a whole new ice bucket because the thing in there that makes the ice smaller broke. They did it really quickly. I now have an ice maker that works. I’m very happy with their service.

It's a good idea to have American Home Shield because you never know what can happen and they have a good first responder so I would recommend them. But they should reduce the initial fee because whether there is a problem or not, I still have to pay the $75 and sometimes, a lower fee would be good. Recently, I had a claim and I felt like a fool because I failed to notice that there was dust over the sensors. So the technician came, wiped the dust off and it was gone. That was the only problem and I paid $75 anyway. That my mistake though. But altogether, AHS has been prompt and I've been happy with them.

I went online when I noticed that my water wasn't coming out of the filter and the ice maker was not working. Submitting the claim was easy to do. The contractor sent me a text message and said that he would call me the next day to schedule. He came out a couple of weeks ago and told me that my refrigerator was fixed, but it wasn't. He came today and said that he had to order several parts for it because the temperature was 20 degrees. He was really nice and helpful though. Moreover, when he fixed the refrigerator, he also fixed the dishwasher.

Have spent the past two weeks without hot water. On our fourth plumber assigned by American Home Shield. Wait times to speak with customer service is minimum of 45 minutes, and we stopped at over 3 hours for another instance. Phone service staff simply read a script, and never actually resolve an issue, or mis-transfer your call multiple times. Once someone is on-site, they submit a review for AHS to approve, and then AHS orders the part/replacement. Without checking to see if it is in stock or not. Save your money, time and headaches and avoid this company. In the long run, you are better managing this yourself.

Needed pool pump repairs and the tech lied about the cause and said it was not covered. Almost impossible to get them on the phone. Waited on hold over an hour several times. Much better companies out there. Stay away from AHS.

I had an 'AC' problems. After two days, they couldn't find an 'AC' technician in my area that was available -- to service our request. AHS called me and told me that I could find my own technician and pay for it and they would reimburse me. The technician (that I contacted) came and diagnosed the problem and attempted to call them per their protocol. He was on hold with them for 45 minutes and gave up b/c he had other service calls to make. He fixed my issue (thank God) -- he called them a second time and was on hold for 45 minutes before he gave up. Now, I have to pay him $150 out of pocket and AHS charged me $82.50 for a service call that they didn't provide, they aren't paying anybody anything -- just collecting my money. They provided no service.
I've been on the phone with them multiple times for 2-3 hours trying to find a solution (mainly on hold). They ask me to be understanding of the long wait times due to the pandemic. I do understand but they aren't being empathetic with my situation at all -- I DO NOT recommend anybody to do business with this company. They are not an honest company.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

Had their service for 1.5 years. $60 a month and whenever something broke in the house e.g, plumbing stoppage etc, I would still be paying >$100 for a visit to the home from a contractor. Also charged $60 fee for cancelling service. They are a waste of money in my opinion. You're better off taking $60 a month and just setting it aside for home repairs as needed.
I certainly hate to hear that we did not provide the expected service. You have had several issue with us here at AHS & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback as we hope to improve processes for a better customer experience. Have a great week.

This company is the worst warranty company. They say they Cover things but there’s always fine print when it comes to needing the service. I had a toilet. They need a service. They sent a contractor who cut up my vinyl floor without asking and they refuse to fix up my floor which now my floor cost more than the repair on the toilet. I also had a problem with my air condition. They only pay $10 on a pound of coolant which $160 a pound. I paid them $100 just end up paying 200 and something dollars more for coolant. I have a leak but they won’t check the leak for the air condition and I would have to pay for all the coolant to be put back in. It’s a rip off.

We bought our home 4 months ago and the seller paid for a year of home warranty, so that is a positive. I was happy with it until I had a problem. Our hot water heater began leaking extremely bad so I tried to set up service online and it said my address did not match what was in their records even though I had my zip code and policy number. So I tried calling them and it kept telling me that my wait time was an hour+ (I think that is a little extreme). I finally set it up with the automated services and had to pay my service fee upfront (I understand having to pay a service fee but not before a service tech is sent to my house).
This was on a Saturday so I understand that they may not call until Monday, but it is now Thursday and I have still not heard from a contractor. I got a text message on Tuesday that said my claim had been submitted to a contractor that they would be contacting me. Today I finally had to go buy a hot water heater because it is kinda hard to do some things without hot water.
Thank you for sharing your warranty experience. We do apologize for the delay, and it causing you to purchase the hot water out of pocket. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I got my AC unit when I moved in at the beginning of September of 2019. I knew that the unit had been older and some upgrades were gonna be happening soon. I had a couple of issues with heat in the winter but with the summer, everything was working okay. Then one day, there was no cool air coming out. So, I got someone to come out. He was the same person I had earlier in the winter. He was very professional and he wore a mask. He was great last time and this time, too. It didn't even take 30 minutes and the unit was fixed. It has been working great since. All in all, everything that I've had to have fixed, it's been super easy to contact someone at AHS either online or on the phone. Bestway Mechanical came out for a plumbing repair. I was very pleased with the tech. We had three problems. One was our shower leaked from the handle. And the second one was that underneath our sink, the pipe was leaking in our kitchen. And the third one was that we had a stopper that had come out. They came out and they fixed it. But it wasn't quite fixed. The tech came back out and he said, “I realized also, you've got a cracked handle here. So, we're gonna have to replace that.” And he said that fortunately, Moen replaces those for free because it has a lifetime warranty. He picked up a new one, which was very kind of him when he was at the Moen place, and brought it, and just replaced it, and left that replaced. And then, unfortunately, something happened. We can't get the hot water to get all the way off. When we turn it off, it doesn't get all the way back to cold.
When he came out, he said, “What it looks like is your hot water heater is extremely hot. Like scalding hot. ”He might have put it too hot when we had reset it one time from when we went on vacation. He may have just come back in and just casually, not known that he put it too hot. He said, “By adjusting it, pulling it down to a more reasonable temperature, it will allow that to cool off when you turn it off.” I felt like he went the hundredth mile and always had a great attitude. I found him really exceptional. He knew what he was doing. I thanked him for coming back.

There was some backup occurring. Every time we flush the toilet the water either wouldn’t flush in one of the toilets or it would. It would flush, but then it’d come out from the bottom, and then all of the shower drains would backup. Home Choice Services came out and snaked the pipes twice, but it just kept happening again. So, we had to have someone come out. They came right out, to check everything.
It’s super easy submitting claims. People always got ahold of us fairly quickly. We liked it especially for our first year of owning a home. It was definitely easier than having to find our own vendors for things. I hope AHS would show reviews that are readily available. My husband and I like to look at reviews before we have people come and touch or fix anything in the house, just to make sure that we know that they’re gonna do a good job. So, that would be the most helpful thing. And the option to switch vendors, if we don’t like certain reviews or if we like better reviews on somebody else. Overall AHS is pretty good. We love that they partnered with their service providers because that was a big lifesaver.

Sometimes I have difficulty getting through to American Home Shield when I submit a claim. There is usually a long hold when I make a call and would usually be for about 30 minutes at least to reach a person. Sometimes it's longer. If they could answer their telephone instead of having to hold for so long, that would be wonderful. Most of the time, the contractors they send out are fine and they can fix the problem. But there was one where I called AHS about a problem I had with my refrigerator and a gentleman showed. He didn’t know what was wrong and he was gonna leave so I asked him to show me how to do something with the refrigerator. He told me to look it up in the owner’s manual and he left. I just called another repairman that I knew and had used before. They came out to fix the refrigerator. That experience was not a typical one though. I had a claim where AHS handled it fine and they sent out Dill Appliance Repair.

American Home Shield is marvelous. The claims process online was awesome and then Silver Dollar came out in a couple of days. They supposedly fixed the part on the outside unit and then a couple of days later, it was doing the same thing. So, I called the technician back. He came out and fixed it. He told me that the units inside were replaced in 2015 and it didn't have a P-trap. So he would be coming back on Wednesday to do that. He also said that wasn't covered by AHS so I'd have to pay for that out of my pocket.
A couple of years ago, I had a different home warranty and the AC claim I had with them was horrible. Then my brother got American Home Shield when he had his house built in Abilene and he said that American Home Shield is great. I've already told several friends and the ladies I work with about American Home Shield. I also told my best friend about them 'cause she just bought a house and was looking for a warranty.

Filing claims has been a pretty easy process. Sometimes we do it online and sometimes we do it over the phone. This past time we did it online because of the virus and AHS reduced staffing of the call centers. The contractors they've used have been very nice, polite, thorough, and effective. There were some extra parts that were supposed to be for the vents for the AC's intake vents. They said they had to backorder those and I was waiting to hear more about that. AHS should be a little bit more creative about how the change in technology in the air conditioning unit when they move from the old-style technology of the now-banned compressor gas to the new style and what’s covered in the warranty with that stuff. I felt like the guy who was talking to me about this from Ambient Air have me a fast talk.

When the sump pump broke in the basement, the guy who came was very professional. He was in and out in 20 minutes. I had a second guy come out that same day and I had a bathroom faucet that was leaking. He had to order parts, but he was back the next day and put in a new bathroom faucet in about half an hour. He then came back two weeks later when the side of my garbage disposal cracked. He did that in about 15 minutes to half an hour. He was a super nice guy.
Back in November, my washing machine broke. The guy came, tore it apart, and said that he had to order all-new inside stuff. It would take two weeks. When the parts were shipped, the parts were wrong. I called AHS and the lady talked me through a standard form that they had. She wouldn't listen to my questions when I tried to explain to her about the part being wrong and a new part had to be re-ordered. I asked her to let me talk to a supervisor and she said that that was not possible, but she could have a supervisor call me within 48 hours. That never happened.
When the second part came, something else was wrong with them. The guy showed up to install it and had to order something else. We were about five weeks into it and when I called AHS, I got the same standard line. At that point, running to the laundromat was starting to be a pain because it was starting to get cold and I was dumping around $16 to $20 a week to make quarters.
I asked if there was any way Home Shield could pay for a rental washer, but I never got any answer back. I was out of a washing machine for seven weeks and dropped around $140. In the last three weeks, I had Aaron's deliver a washing machine and it cost me $48 for the three weeks. It was cheaper to have a rental delivered than it was to pay. It was a bad enough experience that if I was gonna do it again, I might look at other warranties.
I had a dishwasher leak and the appliance guy said it was a plumbing problem. When the plumber showed up, the plumber said it was the appliance guy's problem. I called AHS and said that somebody had to make a decision on who was supposed to fix it. That lasted for about a week until it was fixed it. Last year, AHS fixed the air conditioner with no problem. They also fixed the sink, sump pump, and garbage disposal with no problems.

But as soon as I put in the claim, H and J called me right back within the hour for the appointment. A gentleman came out and hooked up the compressor and it has been working fine ever since then. He was definitely knowledgeable about what he was doing and he fixed the problem so it was good. I’ve been living here five years now, and I’ve had a few things repaired and replaced. American Home Shield has definitely come in handy and helped to save me some money.

The heat pump that I had was clanking and causing some problems. I called and talked to American Home Shield and they said that they would have somebody come out and look. I told them that it looked like it was about a 100 years old too. Northwest Heating & Cooling was sent out and they examined the whole unit and the unit inside. They found that it needed to be replaced and that part of one of the units had stuff in it that wasn’t even legal anymore. So, they replaced the whole unit. The contractors were great. Since they have been out here, there has been no clanking and it has been so quiet. It is nice.
They also put in the controller that I had. If I wanted it to be cool, I had to push cool. If I wanted it to be warm, I had to push the warm. It was not electronic where you put in what you want the temperature to be and it automatically did it. I had to manually do all that, and that has been a savings in itself of my time and effort. Overall, American Home Shield is a nice company. They respond to the request that you may have and they are very easy to work with.

My husband and I ended up fixing our dryer ourselves because we were going on vacation. I couldn’t wait three weeks.
When we were in Ireland, they called to see if they could come to my house and fix the dryer. This was after I had canceled and gotten my money back. They were so bad. It was hard to get ahold of them. AHS really needs to step it up on their appliance repair. The only reason we keep them at this time is for our air conditioning. They’ve been very good about keeping us up and running with our air conditioning and our furnace. But for everything else, forget it.

Having coverage with Home Shield keeps the cost down a little bit for initial service calls and things of that nature because usually, there's usually a lot more to begin with. One time, there was water dripping from the ceiling. It was a pipe that was blocked in the AC. There was overflowing and water going onto the floor of the AC unit. The tech from AAA Cooling & Heating cleaned out the pipe and there's been no evidence of water since then.

Our air conditioner would force air, but it wouldn’t cool so I filed a claim with AHS through their website. It was pretty easy to use. Everything’s real quick. Right off the bat, it said the contractor should contact us within 24 business hours, and they did. And they said they’d be out the same day, which they were. They had to put in a secondary bid for some additional work that we found out after the fact, and they were able to get parts needed and do the entire installation within two business days. The contractors were very professional and helpful. They answered all of our questions. And I’d just absolutely recommend them to anyone.

When my brother-in-law said the ducting was leaking, I thought it was covered because I've got the very top line with AHS. The contractor went up there and said that it needs to be replaced but AHS was not gonna do anything about it. He said that AHS was gonna say that it was a rodent problem. We don't have any rodents up there. He also said that it was gonna cost me at least $2,000. When I got started, I had other family members that had used AHS. It wasn't always positive but that was who I started with. They've always taken care of whatever I had.

I had to have an electronic panel and I needed the one where the buttons are that you program your dishwasher. The guy from Mr. Fix It explained everything that he did. He was very prompt coming, cleaned up his mess, and took all of it with him. He did a fabulous job and was very informative. I have a professional grade dishwasher and refrigerator, the Frigidaire. He said they’re no more reliable than the every day middle-of-the-road brand. He said they last about the same amount of time. It’s not that the wear and tear is gonna be any different. I really appreciated that so when we ever go to change our appliances, I know that we don’t have to go to the top of the line to have a good appliance. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. If I ever have to have any other appliances repaired, I would like him to come out.
We had Home Warranty of America prior to, and we were having problems because we couldn’t get people to come out. They didn’t let us go on our own. I had to fight for a claim that had approved. I had gone through all the measures because they couldn’t get a plumber out here. And they said, yes, they paid and it took eight months to get our money back. So, we changed. We went from Home Warranty. I’m really fortunate that we don’t pay an arm and a leg. My husband and I are both retired and we’re comfortably off, but it’s not like we can afford to drop $2,000 or $3,000 every time something needs to be replaced or repaired. So, this has been a godsend. So far, they have been very prompt and it’s worked out well for us.

While the process was okay, there was two weeks in between the time we got service and the time the issue was fixed. This was because the tech needed a part which someone can get from Home Depot. One time, I did my claim online and it was easy. The place then called and they were super nice. They called to let me know they were on their way and when the tech came, he said the blower was out and he had to replace it. He came one day and then he had to get a part because mine is older. He came back the next day and finished. They got the job done quickly and got it fixed. I was very satisfied.

The contractor found a problem that I’ve had for a long time. I had this leak in my ceiling from the AC, which messed up my ceiling about five years ago. It messed up my ceiling again today. I’ve had six or seven people come out here before. But this contractor found it immediately. He told me that my emergency switch was not connected to my AC system, which was why it keeps happening. He showed and explained it to me. He also drew a little diagram so that I can understand why it was not working. Now, I know why it’s not working if something happens again so it shouldn’t mess up anymore. I got AHS for my mom too. I went down to my mom’s house about three months ago because she had something going on in her bathroom. Somebody came out right away and all we had to do was wait on the insurance company. It worked out great. They diagnosed the leak, then somebody came out and fixed it.

I noticed some new spots on the ceiling of our first floor that looked like a leaky drain from the second floor. We called Home Shield and once DrainGo came out, they looked at it, cut a little hole in the wall, and they couldn’t find any leaks, which was fine. They diagnosed it as "must be from some other cause.” The service provider was awesome, but Home Shield has been really bad.
I had a concurrent claim on one of our air conditioners and I had to spend about two hours in total on the phone trying to get Home Shield to get an AC service provider to come out and look at it. The first they signed me up for called and said they were gonna get to it in like a week and a half. And that’s unacceptable for an air conditioner in this type of heat. I had to call back and I was on hold for an hour and waiting forever. They're understaffed in terms of answering the phones and handling claims and there’s a thick accent problem too, so everything was more difficult than you would expect just reading the service agreement. They finally got me hooked up with a different company and they eventually came after more days than they said they would. This claim was a nightmare.

I have been with AHS since 2018, I paid monthly insurance for air-con, plumbing, fridge, dishwasher and etc. Where I live I am closer to the beach. We didn't run air condition and heater except summer time. Only night time when we came back home from home. And air is controlled by wire-less remote. AHS they send a tech. When he arrived he saw the remote. He got mad and "we can't fix wireless" and he left. And they send another one. The same thing. He said can't fix wireless and he recommended change the system into wire. He asked me to pay him # 750 and he left AHS marked down on their system the work is done by contractor. And I called Home Depot. They send a tech and he fixed the problem. I paid from my pocket $ 129.
And I called AHS. Reported what happened. The representative said, "You're not the only person to report this company" and she will report it and she said she will refund my $100 upfront payment from AHS which I paid when I claim. After a week no money refund. When I spoke another representative the work order is done. No refund. This kinds of game playing by AHS is not the first time. Previously the year 2019 my fridge and dishwasher has a problem. The tech that they sent to my home he reported working which is not true. If he fix the problem I don't need new fridge or dishwasher, and I need ASAP. I ordered new from Home depot, what I noticed when the tech came to my home to installed new dishwasher it was hard. And I figure it out. AHS tech he reported the units are working because the work was hard, and he choose to take $100 dollars which I deposited when I placed order.
I have doubt now AHS and the contractor work hand to hand. If the work order is expensive don't approve. The unit is not working, AHS will give you $100 dollars for you. To be honest, if my unit is fixed I don't need new but the problem is continuous and I bought new fridge and dishwasher. Where do we go to find the right company, contractor provide honest and live by integrity.

Company did not show on date and time even after the AHS operator advised they would closely monitor the situation. AHS contacted additional run around issue not resolved after 6 days and over 3 hours on hold with AHS no service technician has yet been to the residence.
I believe their business model is based on frustrating you 'til you have the repair made on your own. This is based on two other service request. One was a broken spring on a garage door that was not answer by the assigned company and I ended up having my own company repair. The second was a pool heater problem that the company came out and messed up the pool controls that took over a month to repair. You would be better off putting the monthly premiums in your account and saving up for any needed repairs. At the rate I am going I would still be about $1,000 ahead over two years with AHS. I would have also not spent as much time being off work or frustrated as waiting on them to honor their contract.

Kim also told me that she would be putting in a request to cancel my contract and someone would be reaching out to me to confirm.
To this date no one has reached out and said a word but they sent me a bill in the mail for $56 and change. If no one contacts me I will be posting the email communication between Kim and myself. I will also be talking to a lawyer to get my money back. It’s a shame you talk to people on the phone they lie to you and the same thing happens with email communication. Kim responded to my last complaint and led me to believe she was going to take care of the problem. However, she only reached out to keep me quiet. I want my money refunded back to me because the job was never done with Home Shield. I tried not to select any stars but my message would not post, that’s the only reason why one star is shown.
Original Review: I used American Home Shield for the first time out of the four years I have had them. They sent contractor out to my house to repair my washer and dryer. This contractor was JP International. Well My husband tried telling JP where the water was coming from in our washer and he gave a whole statement on where he thought the water was coming from. Lo and behold my husband recorded a video of the water coming from the area he said it was coming from. I called JP international back and told him. He says, "Oh I told y’all not to use the washer," which he never said that.
I called American home shield. Told them we have a new issue with washer and dryer. They reached out to JP international and according to home shield he said he was going to contact me with parts for washer and dryer. I waited and waited he never called me. I called him and he proceeds to tell me he never mentioned anything about he had the parts. He advised me that he never received parts and home shield has no idea where my parts are. I then called home shield. They told me my parts were on recall. Okay so which lie is it.
Here I am a month later washer and dryer still not fixed. A message is in my account that says they tried calling me but that’s a lie I have been calling them and they keep giving me the run around. I’ve asked for a cash out because that’s what I was promised since my washer and dryer hasn’t been fixed. They have told me four times on four different conversations that someone would be calling me. Here it is a week later and still no call from no one. They told me all they had to do was contact contractor to make sure he doesn’t have parts and refund my money. To this day I’m still waiting and don’t know if home shield is lying or the contractor.

I had a plumbing thing that I called about, and they said that they couldn’t help with that. So, there was $75 down the drain. Then, they came out and assessed the washer. The technician was in my home for 10 minutes and then told me that he would get back to me in five days to see whether or not he could fix it. I ended up having to hire an outside technician just to try and fix it. Again, another money wasted, and they never returned my call. I was just very disappointed with my purchase. I’m a Realtor and have a lot of clients who I personally recommend having a home warranty when they’re listing their homes and once they bought a home. With the age that our home is, everything has been replaced but I felt that it would be in our best interest to have a home warranty just in case. One of my clients had AHS in place and they listed their home. The inspectors found several little things, nothing major, but AHS came out and did the repairs. They didn’t come up with fine-print excuses why they wouldn’t do these little repairs here and there, which was rare. I had a water leak in my pool pump and when I filed a claim, I was told that the contractor would be out that day. They were working outside and I wasn’t given a particular window. There was a small glitch with the pool heater. Hometown Pools & Spas came out to replace an LCD display on the heater. It went great with them and they were the second ones sent out. American Home Shield said they were sending out a person for a second opinion, and that was Hometown Pools. As soon as I told AHS about the glitch, Hometown Pool came back out and remedied it. But I had reported at that time of service that there was a slight leak in the filter pump, and to this day, that has not been remedied. I let Hometown Pools know but they were just sent out for the heater, so I don’t necessarily fault them. It's been three weeks and I have to pick the ball back up with AHS.
I wish AHS would more comprehensively replace things, but I also understand that the home warranty is not necessarily to put things back to new. It’s to just fix the problem. I had an air conditioner crapped out. It takes some diligence on the customer’s end, but AHS ended up replacing my condenser and coil. Initially, they just wanted to put a Band-aid on it, but I got them to replace it. If you're a squeaky-wheel, you’ll get things done.

I haven't had problems with claims but I have had disagreements with the manner in which Home Shield has settled them. A faucet was to be replaced and I ended up settling with them because when they sent the plumber out with the faucet, even though I had stainless steel, he was gonna replace it with plastic. Nobody told me that when I took out the policy. And to me, that was totally unacceptable. That was very disturbing and I was worried about going forward.
The only reason I didn't cancel with them is that the repairman told me that I’ve been paying for so many years and my appliances are getting older and this is not the time I wanna cancel the policy. It was the repairman that convinced me I was making a mistake. But how they can replace a stainless-steel fixture with a plastic faucet is beyond my comprehension. I refused the plastic faucet and I settled for whatever it was they paid me for a faucet and went out and bought a replacement for what had gone wrong. It took a while because it was a lot of back and forth, but it got resolved.
I tend to suppress these things because I try not to let it bother me, but it was very aggravating at the time. I had another with a drain and it was sort of the same thing that I had to settle with them. As it turned out, it was just that the plumber was very inexperienced, because I ended up going to a place and found the correct drain and replaced it myself. But I had a claim which At Bay Appliances came out for and it was fine. It’s been hit-and-miss. If my appliances were not older now, I probably would cancel the policy. If I go out and get new appliances, will I take out a policy again? No.

When you put in the claim online, we also pay the upfront fee. It's $75 and it pays for the whole service fee. The furnace went kaput after we hadn't used it for a couple of days. We had that cold spell last month and then we had the hot spell. When we turned it back on, it was no good. We rang Home Shield and they sent out Weatherwise. The tech was very knowledgeable and very good. He was here for a half an hour and fixed the furnace.
Also, we have to homes in Parker both under Home Shield and they replaced the water heater that blew up on our other property. I find Home Shield excellent in that regard. They say they will repair it or they will replace it and they do. It's as simple as that. There are no ifs, buts, or maybes and there are no arguments and dissertations. All In One Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling showed up with five guys and they did a great job. They put a new kitchen faucet on the kitchen faucet area although one could tell that it's a cheap one. Then they brought in the water heater. Their guy had to pay for the water heater and faucet fixture himself upfront. However, we had to pay $490 out of pocket for the water heater and I wasn’t happy. I was trying to figure out why we had to pay that amount when we only had to pay the $100 upfront. The guy was telling me that they still have that same part. Why couldn’t they use that same part? Now we had to pay more money. Plus, it wasn’t up to code. There are up to code charges that Home Shield does not take care of. It’s an old water heater and it’s 20 years of age that we know of. I also didn’t like that the guys didn’t have their masks on but I kept my distance away from them.
Then there was a leak at the bottom of our master shower and AHS denied that claim. They said that the pipe under the flooring was broken. I guess we’re gonna have to get a brand new shower ourselves and put it in. Also, I wasn’t told that the charges were gonna increase until after the fact. It started out $29 a month. Now, we’re paying $56 a month. Another thing is that I don’t understand why AHS can’t get other companies to come in from other areas to work for them. One said that they were slow in paying the contractor.
We’re just waiting on the air conditioning and the furnace. Once we get that replaced, I’m cutting AHS off. We’re not gonna carry them anymore. The customer service department is okay and they do follow-ups. I just didn’t like this hidden charge on this water heater. I was really disappointed in it. Overall, if something happens, I can call the Home Shield place and they will have to contact the guy that did the work but I don’t know how long it would take him to get here to fix it.

When my daughter was still alive, she did the claims online but I can't do that stuff.
My claim was handled very well. The air conditioner is in a house I own where my son-in-law and grandchildren live in. I was told to make sure that we all clean it regularly and hose it down to keep it clean and running smoothly. The tech did a very good job and my son-in-law and grandchildren haven't had any problem. The tech was from Elite Heating and Air Conditioning and they were a very good company. I would recommend them.
With my house, I don't have a home warranty but I would probably call them if I need work. He came very quickly and wasn't there very long. He got the unit fixed and up and running. It was good as it was right before the hot weather hits. The first couple of years I have the house, we used AHS quite a bit. But last year, we didn't use it at all. I'm very pleased with whoever I bought the house from that arranged for American Home Shield to be the house warranty. I'm very glad they did.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

JJ's Fire and Ice fixed the AC unit and everything was back to normal in a very quick time. They’ve been working on our units for years and years and we love them. I truly don’t want anybody else working on my AC. But some of the vendors with Home Shield are not as high quality as JJ’s Fire and Ice. A year ago or so, we had a problem with our washing machine and we were having problems with some of the vendors. One of them that was supposed to fix my unit had parts on it and then he couldn’t fix it. Then, he just left and didn’t tell me. I had to follow up with phone calls and he said it was not fixable but he didn’t tell me that. It was a series of unfortunate events with different vendors. Ultimately, it worked out and we got a brand-new machine. Other than that, we have been 100% happy with Home Shield.

The dishwasher stopped working so I filed a claim with AHS. ARO Appliance Repair handled it great. The tech told me what the problem was and they tried to order a part but the dishwasher was really old and the part was no longer available. American Home Shield offered the cash-out for a new dishwasher, which we did, and got that handled.
It was horrible was trying to get ahold of the person at American Home Shield because there are different departments. There's the usual customer service and the wait wasn’t too bad, usually about 30 minutes. But I had to contact someone in purchasing to be able to find out how much they were going to give me for a new dishwasher and I was on hold for two to three hours, for two different days. I work from home and I just put them on hold, stuck my phone off to the side, and worked. It was two and a half hours before someone picked up. The department was closed down, but I got some other customer services to try to call in over there. And there were no people over there, but nobody was told and it was terrible. That part was terrible.
I think it was the COVID issue and all that with staffing, but I wish that I could have been able to access somebody via email in purchasing. All I needed to know was how much they were going to give me so we could figure out how much we could spend on the dishwasher. In the end, we just got a dishwasher and hoped it covers or we would have to pay too much extra. It had been going on for two weeks trying to get ahold of purchasing. But once I got ahold of that person and got instructions for how to do it, I copied receipt, sent them in, and they sent out reimbursement. That part went fairly fast. It was the first time I've ever had to cash out anything and I was happy with their response. I'm just dreading what's gonna happen to my premium. Any time you use them, their premium goes up the next year. That’s what I'm not looking forward to.

The fan of our AC was not working. The guy that came and fixed it hooked it up and it ran for a couple days. The tech did a good job. He said what the problem was. He was professional and friendly, knowledgeable about the system. But now it is not working again. This is a new home, and none of this should be happening because I just moved in here. Most of the system is supposed to be new. So I'm confused, I didn't expect to use my warranty until maybe a year into having it. Having it is convenient though. It is valuable.

My AC claim went good and the girl there that helped me was the best AC person I ever talked to over the phone. Doing something over the weekend was an upgrade, which I would have had to pay, so I waited till the next Tuesday and Grady's Air Conditioning & Heating Services got out quick. However, the wait time to get through American Home Shield was long. I made another call this week, for my oven not coming on, and I couldn’t get through at all. I waited for 40 minutes, and I didn’t talk to someone. Finally, I got online, did the claim, and it came through quickly. If I make a claim though, the contractor that American Home Shield uses usually calls, but the one that’s coming out tomorrow never called me. I had to call them.
Overall, I’ve been using American Home Shield for 12 years and the price is going up quite a bit. We were in the 500 to 600, and now we’re in $2,200. I would assume that over the period of time I’ve been with them, I would have a bit different rates because I’ve referred them to a couple of people. These people came back and told me what they were paying, and I thought that I was paying a lot more than they were and they were new customers. Other than that, everything’s good.

I noticed my front porch light wasn't working, and that was weird. I changed the light bulb and it worked but two days later, it went out. The fuse kept blowing in the house. I stopped using an outlet behind my TV and had to run an extension cord to a completely different outlet. Some other outlets wired on that circuit were giving us problems. I don't know anything about electrical and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I submitted it online and the website was fairly simple to use. Cutting Edge Technologies and Design came out and said it was wired wrong, which obviously I had no idea. I was very pleased with the contractor. There's now a whole another outlet we can use, and we're not tripping over extension cords running across the living room anymore.
I've been very satisfied with AHS. It's been pretty decent. I usually recommend the company. I had one issue that was resolved when I submitted a claim for my HVAC. I was sent to a contractor that was no longer in business. They told me so over the phone, and when I finally discovered that, I reached out to AHS. Their representative said, “How do you know they're not in business?” She wasn't rude about it per se, but it was a rude thing to say to somebody.

The air conditioning was working but all of a sudden, it got hot, and then the fan stopped working. I called American Home Shield and it sent me through a series of prompts. Then I got ahold of a person and they said that they would have somebody getting in contact with me. Hurliman got ahold of me and they were very good. I stood out there and watched them while they inspected it and they explained what was going on. As soon as we got it turned on and got to look at it, they showed me what the problem was. The Freon had a leak in the line and it completely leaked out. And part of another unit was bad.
When I originally signed up for American Home Shield, they said there would be a deductible, which I completely understand. But then when I got the bill, they had put on there that they would only pay for so much Freon replacement and they’d only pay for so much of this and so much of that. I wasn't made aware that there would be additional charges beyond the deductible. This is a very small air conditioner and if I had a large air conditioner, my bill would have been considerably more. Other than that, my experience was satisfactory.

I am on a call waiting to reach an associate for 57min now. There is no way to contact via email. I had issues with Bath exhaust fan and ceiling fan. I made service request on 25-Feb2020 in hopes of getting fabulous service like many reviews say. But Alas!, the electrician did nothing. He put some oil on Bath exhaust fan and said he can't do anything about the ceiling fan since malfunction of fan is not covered it has to be completely broken for the service. Additionally, he didn't have a way to diagnose further. After he left in 30min the bath exhaust fan started making squeaky noise again and my baby starts crying every time. So the service request charge of $100 went in vain. So I called AHS again and explained the problem. After much explanations they agreed to send out another company.
A service request was logged on 05-Mar2020. The guy from another company was nice and said he do see problems and is going to report it to AHS and order the parts. However, till now there was no update. I reached AHS back over phone with long wait times around 22-May2020 If I remember it correctly. It took AHS 3 months to get someone out to even look at it THEN after this plumber cut a hole and "fixed" the pipes we were left with a 3ft by 4ft hole in our wall. AHS refused to fix it because "it wasn't damage caused by the leak" but it was damage caused by the plumber that had to fix the leak. After months (I'm not exaggerating) of complaining that they needed to get the wall fixed they finally agreed and "scheduled a repair man to come out to fix the damaged wall and baseboards." THE COMPANY THEY SENT OUT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST!!!!
After 9.5 months of going back and forth with this TERRIBLE company and their RUDE employees, I finally just paid someone to come out and fix it. The baseboards are still ruined from the leak and the carpet is also still ruined. This company is a giant WASTE OF TIME!! I waited until I was out of my contract or whatever to post this. Be ready to wait days and weeks to have a company they contract with to come look at the problem, only to not resolve it. We ended up having to go through outside authorization, followed all of AHS rules that they told us only to say they were denying it due to cost. So I've paid over $1,600 this year to have AHS cover 2 properties I own to now have to pay $2000 for something they should cover. Worthless company with no values. Cancelled both contracts.

When our A/C stopped working the repair technician identified that the coil had an non-repairable leak and needed to be replaced. He submitted the details for the coil replacement, as well as, new system upgrade options to AHS on a Friday afternoon. Upon multiple calls to AHS to check on the status of the authorization (each of which had a 1hr wait time to speak with someone), we were told that the authorization department had 48 hrs (not including weekends) to respond and that there was nothing we could do to get an update.
Finally, on Wednesday (4 days later) we received an update that we would have to pay $1,500 out of pocket BEFORE the technician could be scheduled to complete the repair! When we called back to understand the estimate and asked about the system replacement/upgrade options, we were told that would be a separate request, to a separate department, that has up to 48hrs to respond - despite the fact that this was clearly documented in the original repair notes! 1 week to simply get confirmation of what the repair options are is completely unacceptable, especially when it's for an A/C in 100+ degree summer heat. I would not recommend doing business with this company if you're hoping to get any major appliance repairs covered in a timely fashion.

I’ve only used Home Shield out once before when I bought the house and submitting that claim was super easy. They rekeyed all my doors, which was fine. And then, I had a leak underneath my sink and it was all wet. Home Shield sent a guy out and we ran the dishwasher. He said he couldn’t figure out where the leak was coming from but he believed me that there was a leak. I had to replace everything underneath. He said, “If it leaks again, call us back.” I said, “You’re a plumber. You should be able to figure out where this leak is coming from.” He went into the bathroom, to the other faucet that was leaking. He said he fixed it. t bothered me because I could tell it was crooked. It’s still leaking but I just couldn’t be bothered to have Home Shield send me out someone else and have a friend come out look at it.
Home Shield did what they were supposed to do. It’s not their fault that I wasn’t happy with the plumber that came out because he didn’t resolve any of my issues and it still cost me. It was kind of my fault, but I was wondering who do they call to come out here? It seemed that it was that guy’s first day or something. He apologized that he couldn’t help me and told me to call them if I see it leaking, and to try and take a video of it. And I said, “It’s soaking wet under here. All the wood has to be replaced. What do you mean you can’t find the leak?”
AHS is fine. It’s the plumbing company I'm not happy with. Maybe I should go back on my claim and say, “No, this is subpar.” I would feel more motivated to talk to Home Shield about me being happy about it if they followed up on the visit. They didn’t follow up to ask me if I was satisfied with the resolution of my claim and then it probably would have opened the door for me to say I wasn't. They should follow up on all the service orders.

I had a different company that I used before and I didn’t like them at all. They never did what they said they were gonna do in a timely manner. Service calls didn’t happen. The contractor from American Home Shield, at least, addressed what was going on. My water pressure is going down and the guy from Plumbing Enterprises diagnosed pretty much what is going on, although he wasn’t entirely sure. He said I would need a new faucet because something was blocking it on that level. His professionalism was also fine. He worked and did things quickly.
But he came back today and found out that the problem isn’t just from our water faucet. It’s from our water heater. It’s older and it had been rusted out at the bottom. It looks like the water heater has been causing sediments to collect in our faucet. But I’m not sure what’s going on with the claim yet because after the faucet was looked at, nothing ever happened. I never received a phone call, message or e-mail updating what’s going on. So I sent in another claim to update it and say I need someone else to come out.
Unfortunately, the lack of follow-up is the thing that I have an issue with. But I’m sure there are also less people in any office right now because of what’s going on in the world. Things fall through the cracks and if they think it’s just a faucet replacement, it’s probably lower on the totem pole than some people who need full scale things replaced or emergency issues for their homes. My experience is not perfect but I can understand. This is our third month with American Home Shield and I like it so far. Nothing has been replaced yet but American Home Shield has service calls that happen very quickly so they can at least address the problems.

We've been with American Home Shield since October of 1992. Some years we use them quite a bit and some years, we don't. We pay the premium and if we have a service call, that's fine, and if we don't, that's okay if we don't need anything. I told the guy earlier this year that later on, I would be needing quite a bit of work done because I knew my dishwasher needed to have a new seal in it, although I didn't know my refrigerator was gonna go out and cause a lot of problems there. But Sears did an excellent job on that.
We had a plumbing issue recently and Tom Melton Services came out. We paid our part of it which was $541 for a lot of different connections. American Home Shield furnished the water heater and Melton also fixed a commode. They also installed a kitchen faucet that had gone bad. We were very happy with what Melton had done and we were very glad with American Home Shield for providing the service. They did an excellent job. I was very pleased with them. My daughter has had AHS and she has been very pleased with it. We got the $98 a month top-of-the-line package from AHS, which includes electrical and electronics. I'm not at all satisfied with them. The contractor who came for my ice maker was very professional and excellent. They couldn’t find the part to fix the ice maker and they told AHS that they had to replace it.
AHS told us that they would mail us a check for $1,491 and it’d be seven to 10 days from the day we sent them the purchase order when we bought the new icemaker. We've not seen the check. We've called about three times and they said that there was a problem and that they haven’t even looked at or started on our claim. This is over three or four weeks ago. They said they were behind because of the virus and that when they get to the claim in another two weeks, then we could file our claim and mail our check.

When you call and make a claim, getting somebody on the line is the problem. Sometimes we've been on the phone for a hour before someone answers. However, once you talk to somebody and the process starts, it’s cool and everything is great. They switch you over to the contractor, which was Climate King in my case. The contractor then schedules an appointment and comes right on out.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Robert McDade, the owner of the company, came out and inspected my garbage disposal. He recommended a new garbage disposal because mine was rusted on the inside and when it was able to finally churn, you could see the rust coming off. AHS approved a new garbage disposal and he installed it that day. I was not pleased with what I had to pay for my AC service and the amount of time I had to wait to get approval for it. I was without air in Texas for a week. The approval process for air is not even comparable to the same-day process of the garbage disposal.
A-US came out and said AHS has up to 72 hours to approve. They pretty much took almost 72 hours to approve me getting my air fixed. Then, I had to wait for A-US to be able to come out. It was hot with everyone having air issues. AHS extended waiting for an approval because A-US was so busy. For Freon or what they had to refill my air unit with, it was $70 per unit but American Home Shield only paid $10. By the time they serviced it and repaired the leak in my coil, I had paid over $1,900 after waiting a week for air. There should be some kind of division for air so that when you need to have approval, you get expedited approval for air or heat services in the winter for anyone.

I've been with AHS for 10 years now and I like that I could call them up and they send somebody out there. They have a really quick service. I had a problem with my air conditioning a couple of years ago and they replaced the whole thing. But the next time I had a problem, I called and the guy said that the guy got me. I didn’t really need the whole thing. So far, except for that one instance, I really don’t have any complaints with AHS. Recently, the guy that came out for my claim was good. He got right to it.

Our home is already 15 years old, and we’ve never had a home warranty before, so I figured it was time. We’re going to be here a little bit longer and our home’s not getting any younger, and neither is everything else in it. It was through name recognition that we bought American Home Shield and on my first claims experience, everything was straightforward. Our upstairs unit wasn’t working. It wasn’t blowing any cold air and then when it would, it would only blow cold air for a little while. We would then have to turn it off, let it rest, and then it only works intermittently. I submitted a claim and the process was easy. Also, the next day or two after I submitted, somebody contacted me.

The air conditioning wasn’t working and wouldn’t turn on. I made the call and submitted the claim on a Saturday. Then K & S Heating came out on a Wednesday. We had checked the fuses but I guess it was some kind of fuse that we didn't check and they were able to fix it really quickly. We've had American Home Shield for over four years now and the monthly cost is a little expensive for my taste but we live in an old house and although our appliances are fairly new, we have an issue with our air conditioner every single year. It’s something different every year and even when we get it serviced, like getting the filter changed, there's always something. I don’t know if it’s just ready to be gone and be done but it’s usually nothing big. And in that regard, the warranty has kind of paid for itself. Aside from the AC, we also had an issue with our furnace.

My son handled things for me and he called the claim in. We had one about an electrical outlet in a bathroom and we were very happy with the time it took to get the contractor with the claim and everything else. My son said the dispatch at the company was very courteous and the technician explained to us what needed to be done. Now, he says they’ve been performing very well. However, we had another claim that was for an air conditioner and the technician that was here said that there was a power surge in the board which caused the air conditioning problem.
I was concerned about how knew it was a power surge. If it was, then Home Shield was not going to pay for anything. That was questionable to me but he didn't say anything. He just said that he was going to submit it and see if it would be taken care of. Home Shield did not take care of that, and I was very upset about it. I called them and they just said that I was responsible because it was a power surge. When I questioned Home Shield too, they said nothing as well. I had to pay for it, $500. All in all, things have not been too good. In fact, I was thinking of changing. There have also been several things that I’ve had to pay out of pocket.

They had the people call us right away and everything worked out, although it took a little bit longer. Both experiences I had with Home Shield were good. They were very efficient. I don’t really like AHS's claims process. I have to make a phone call and then I don’t get the live person. I made the request through voicemail. Then AHS has three days to contact you back and then you get a phone call from the company itself. It’s a lot of here and there. Also, being a first-time homebuyer, I already had a company out here for heat issues in January. I had that same company out here for my AC issues. Due to the fact that I have a home warranty with AHS, the company asked if they could come out since they already did the work for me.
I was unaware that AHS has their own people that they contract with and I had to get whoever they sent me. The people that came out here were all the way from Georgia. It makes more sense to get someone close by. I really don’t like that I’m not able to choose my own people. I also wasn’t told about the Freon. I thought the $100 covered everything, but I had to pay Freon. Now, I toy with the thought of, “Should I keep it? Should I not keep it?” But I’m the type of person that once I do not keep it, then something’s gonna happen to my house. But I don’t like paying for something I don’t see, and it is a lot of money. I wish it was a little bit less, but it is what it is.

It is now 6/9/2020 and we are still waiting for the water heater to be shipped in from ATLANTA, GA?! I have also called in two or three times for status, and while everyone is very nice, the fact that I waited online for a minimum of one hour for a person really soured the experience. They were unable to tell me anything other than "it has been ordered". This has been a disaster for us here, as we have to impose on others to get showers, etc. We are washing dishes by hand using pots of hot water. It's like living the worst part of camping for two weeks. I could have purchased a hot water heater locally for $1000 and had it installed in three days. I love this plan, but this has really soured this experience for me. I pay a monthly amount and $75 for the service fee, and we are still waiting... I gave them 1 star because the customer service while on the phone was very professional and they tried...

While I appreciate being able to request service on-line quickly, I never received a call from the appliance repair company and had to call them myself (not necessarily AHS's fault). I was told that my 26 year old washer could not be repaired because Maytag no longer makes the parts. Today (day after appointment), I tried twice to call AHS to find out next steps - I waited the first time on hold for 20 minutes (had to get off for a work call), and the second for 60 minutes (again, had to get off for a work call). In all fairness, I am a bit annoyed as I have been without a washing machine for a week, but having to sit on line for an hour without any assistance is ridiculous. I would have stayed on longer, but do have a job...

I requested a leak repair on 5/28, I received a call from the contractor & I explain where the leak is. Technician came on 5/29, without digging (better to say without moving his finger) told us it's not covered under warranty because it's not on the foundation of the house. I hired another plumbing company (paid $250) to locate the leak. They brought a device & located the leak source & dig the soil. The leak is coming from a slab which is on the foundation.
So far I called AHS 4 times (the minimum waiting time was 47min to speak to a rep) but with no resolution, no proper explanation what they are going to resolve the issue. I paid $100 for service call + $250 for leak locating + higher water bill + more than 5 hours valuable time. It would have been cheaper quicker if I don't have a warranty at all. AHS claims/brag they have millions of customers but they don't mention the only have handful of customer service rep somewhere in Asia. Stay away, don't waste your time & money here.

I've been renting condos and when I had an issue, I just had to call the owners then the techs come and fix it for me. But when I purchased a house, the process was completely different. I needed to know who to contact to get things done and getting the home warranty with AHS is part of my strategy. Recently, I had issues in my kid's bathroom and my visitor's bathroom where it was taking a lot of time to flush the toilet. I also had an issue on my kitchen sink and I thought all three issues were part of the plumbing.
I went into the system and created a service request for these three items. Then, the guy who came out and looked at them told me that the bathroom issues were part of the plumbing but the kitchen sink leakage wasn't. He also said that he couldn't do it and I needed someone else for that. I got a letter as well from AHS saying that the repair for the sink was not part of the contract. That is fine but they need to explain to people why something is not part of the scope of their duty so the people can understand.
Other than that, my experience with AHS has been pretty good and I'm very satisfied overall with the work. I called them seven times so far and out of that, 80% of the time, the contractors came and did a great job. And I really like that they were very professional and very knowledgeable. But there were two instances where the guys who came in were not friendly at all. I told them that if they didn't wanna do the job it was fine with me but they had to go. I don't tolerate that kind of attitude.
But when I had an electricity issue, I was really impressed with the service. The guy showed up on time and was wearing his mask. He had all these stuff and he came in very polite. He knocked on the door, opened it, and said that he was here because I had an appointment. I explained the problem to him and he asked me to show him where the panel was. Then he went there and within 10 minutes, he fixed the issue. The guy also took the time to explain to me what was the issue. For me, that is the quality of work that we need to see. All in all, AHS has a great contractor who knows what to do. They are doing it great and I'm not gonna punish everyone for the work that the few people were not able to do it right. And with current conditions and with this COVID thing going on, everyone is having his own issues.

That way, I get the same people all the time and get familiar with my problems.
If we could call and always speak to someone who we could understand, it would be awesome. But since we can't and it's a struggle for us, then it's not a pleasure. It's not a pleasure for us to call and try to request anything to get done because it's hard to communicate with them. I've spoken with AHS, and I got about an inch to just canceling everything because I got so frustrated. And I just bide all of my time and try to hold my temper, but it was hard to speak with those people sometimes. Another concern was the guys come out for the pool, left the house and they got the business done. They were Johnny-on-the-spot. They were really prompt to show up. The tech was really courteous and he couldn’t have been a nicer guy. He got the claim done quickly. They replaced the heater promptly and had it done the very next day. Jeff only had to take two cold showers. I had a heating claim with American Home Shield and Legum’s Heating & Cooling came out. Everything went all right but it took four tries. And when the fourth came in, they charged an outrageous price for Freon. They kinda lied because I watched them. They said they were gonna have to take apart the line so they could refill it with Freon and it would cost $576 for the Freon. But they didn’t even take apart the line. I went with it, though. There’s nobody that I could call. I tried calling for customer service. When it was going on, there was nobody to talk to. They just charged the outrageous price for the Freon itself.
My brother’s been telling me to get a home warranty. He talked me into getting one but I got the wrong one. I thought he had American Shield but he got First American. Every time a problem goes on at my house I had to pay for, he would tell me I had better get "that" warranty. He hasn’t had any problems with First American. And I asked him who it is and he said that. But when I made up my mind and I had a paper in the bathroom, I just saw "American" but it was American Shield.
When my brother's heating people come out, he didn't pay for Freon. I said, “Well, these jokers.” That’s why I watched the ones from Legum’s Heating & Cooling. They scratched the pipe. They didn’t know I had somebody watching them. You’re saving on one, but the people who are doing the work are being jerks. I had a guy fix my washer and that went well. I had a guy do my refrigerator the other day and that went well too. I even talked to the people and I said I had people fix my heat. That Freon ain’t never been that high. I ain’t paid $500 on Freon out of the 11 years in the house. But they said that was their call. It’s like you need somebody to go out and fix the stuff. But you don’t need a guy that’s overpricing people if you’re trying to keep them as a client.

The technician came out the first time and thought that we were low on Freon. He gave us three and a half pounds and we paid for it. But he also said that it wasn't right so he went in to check the unit upstairs and found that there was a piece that he needed to fix. He ordered the piece and it came in a week later. That pretty much fixed it but he then said that the coils needed to be cleaned. So he made a new thing and got the coils cleaned. He was exceptional, courteous and professional. He got the job done. Our air conditioner has not worked that good since we moved in the house seven years ago. American Home Shield has always done right and if they can't fix it, they get a brand new one. We’re very happy with American Home Shield. We also had probably seven to 10 people sign up with AHS because we told them that it is something to protect their homes.

When I had the problem with the central air, they sent Rescue Air out here. The tech told me it was evaporator and he told me it was two or three other things wrong with it. He showed me how it was frozen up and he told me that it will cause a whole lot of money. When I talked to the lady back at American Home Shield, they told me what I would have to pay for and then they told me I was gonna out now $100. I wasn't surprised but then they would say they don't pay for this. This man had told them that I needed eight pounds or more Freon. But that's a brand air central unit.
I wanted a second opinion and I asked for Taynor Gardner because they've been servicing the unit all this time. Mr. Gardner came over here and they didn't have the same diagnosis as the previous man. Our air was out for a month and I had to buy a window unit because it was hot. My mother has real health problems and I have severe asthma. It was a pretty horrible situation. But Mr. Gardner was able to hook it up. My mother and I had air ever since.
I had a claim for my refrigerator before and I lost over $250 worth of food because of the delay for the tech to come out. But when he came, he fixed it. He was a good repairman. He did what he said he was gonna do. It just took longer because he said he had been in a car accident and his head was hurting. But I always liked American Home Shield because I'm a paycheck-to-paycheck person. It allows for people like me to be able to have a warranty that they can pay for. It’s affordable for people that are on fixed income. If something goes wrong, they can get a service. If a serviceman had to come here and I gotta pay him $182 just to come out and not to fix the problem, I don't have it. So I don't mind paying the monthly fee with American Home Shield. My fee used to be lower than it is now. Sometimes you get in trouble with that but they don't cut you off. They call you and they give you a chance to give it to them.
American Home Shield has been dependable in the past. When our air conditioner went out several years ago, they said they would had a service tech that would come at the same day late in the evening, you know. I also had a bad hot water heater before. I was going in the kitchen one day and it was shooting water out. But they handled it. They also repaired the heating element of my oven before.

That’s what I’ve been dealing with them and I’m pretty happy with them. Home Shield hasn’t finished handling it because they were supposed to contact me almost two weeks ago. I’m supposed to get a contact from them because I was going to go with another service instead of Greenway. I should get the cash buyout but I never got a reply from them. They should do things differently with how they deal with the air conditioning. Also, I’ve been with them for years. The buyout is about $750. After the 10 years, I would have invested more in them than I would have gotten from it. They probably could up that, if any, especially if you have someone who is a long time user. But other than that, it’s okay.

The AC wasn't cooling and it was leaking. It was 87 degrees outside. I have a little kid and my husband was out of town and I was freaking out. I put the service request online and then American Home Shield found a contractor. In three hours, a tech from Mirons was here. He called me, came at 4:00 PM, and was out there the same day. I was very happy with the service because it was very hot. I was dreading to go through the night without an AC. The tech even called me the next day to check on it, just to make sure there was not an issue that was still there. I had another issue with an injector pump. I even called to have the same tech assigned, but the home warranty wouldn't. They have somebody else. He's on the issue and that's why I wanted him, but AHS has someone else.

The air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling. I filed a claim with Home Shield online because they weren't answering. It was taking forever because of the COVID situation right now. Then, they said that A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was gonna call me within the next day or so and the contractor did. A-US called to let me know they were on their way and they worked on it. They were very professional and they were on time. We’re happy with them. We had to do a recall and the technician came back and told us what to do. As of right now, the unit is working well. So far, it has been a good experience with Home Shield. When I call to either inquire or put in some claims, they have been really friendly and helpful. And they have given me options of the things that I could do based on whatever the request is. I feel that I have gotten good service from them.

I had a water leak in my dishwasher last year and in the process, my wood floor got battered. I had to get a new dishwasher because the leak didn't get fixed. The process took three months and somebody came out two times before it was replaced. So, that was a bad call. This was the better call and the claim was handled very good. The contractor was able to fix the AC the first time they came out. I also had a call for somebody to come out and fix the leak in the furnace under the house last year. The contractor was able to fix it but I had to pay extra for the part. Sometimes, it's hard to understand what the price point will truly be and if it's a good deal or not.

The AHS claims process was nice. All I did was call and then they set the repair up real quick. It was hot and I thought that there are a lot of people with their air conditioning out and that it was gonna be a while. But the KRP tech came out that same day. We had to shut the air conditioner off because it was iced up and he couldn’t do anything. He came out the next day and fixed it. He was very professional and nice. If I ever had to have a call again, I’d like to have him come over.
The ones AHS called before didn’t really fix the problem. They were supposed to put Freon in it because the AC was low on it. They put Freon in it, but they didn’t fix the leak. They also ones charged me $70 for a pound of Freon and took advantage of me. The KRP guy fixed the leak and charged me 35 for a pound of Freon. KRP is the best to use. They’re very honest and professional. I like honest, nice people. It was a very good experience.

I wanted to have annual maintenance done on my air conditioner before I start really using it a whole lot. I called AHS on the telephone as well as online with them at the same time. AHS contacted the contractors and they set the appointment that day. The contractors showed up within three days. The contractors did an excellent job. The guy came in and checked my heater. The guy said he wanna look at everything associated with the air conditioner and checked the heater and the thermostat and did a thorough job. He said everything was okay. He was here for 15 minutes. He said everything was working fine, that I continue to do that and to call him back in the fall. They'll come back and redo the heating unit again and take a look at that.
I’m very satisfied with AHS. My only problem with American Home Shield was, I had them originally when I first moved in the house. A year later, we kept going back and forth on the billing issue, and they came in and said, “No. You gotta pay a year in advance.” I said, “I’m okay with that but I’ve been paying a month.” So, I had to go from a year in advance to almost double the price. I said, "Let it lapse. I’m gonna shop around.” I did and then came back. Then they offered me a discount to come back. We’ll see how it goes at the end of this year.

When we moved into our house, we had the year warranty from the prior owners. We never had to use it and it expired. We had a small gap, and then I was talking about getting it back again, so we got it back again. It’s not very much, especially for the home coverage, but we’ve had it now for almost another year and with customer experience, it has been absolutely great. I called them up when I had a claim and they got a tech out here right away. It was very easy. The tech was very friendly and open when I was outside with him as well.
Being in Arizona, it’s very hot, so I would offer him water and we were just chatting away. He answered any questions I needed too. He told me that a part had to be ordered and then he gave me an estimated date. The only downfall was waiting about 10 days for the part to come in. It was for an air conditioning unit, but it wasn’t a dire need. After that, it was great. Once the part came in, they came right away and they installed the part then the unit was up and running.

American Home Shield hired a company to come out six months ago and their technician was great. He fixed it somewhat and left. Then, it just didn't work. The guy cleaned it out really well. The previous owner used a BIC lighter or something to melt the ice 'cause it would get blocked. That's the problem. It's a malfunction of the design of the ice maker. So anyway, he said that if it would act up, call again. It did act up, so we called again and the same guy came out. He came out, did the same thing, then called, said he was gonna put in for a new ice maker. Then the new ice maker came in and he called and set an appointment. He then came out and replaced the ice maker completely. We're very happy.
As of now, the ice maker is working okay. The ice maker in our Samsung refrigerator is the worst ice maker in the world. But the technician was great, very professional and on time. I would want him to come back if I needed him. American Home Shield has been excellent. They do their job. If we put in a claim, we expect to be some sort of response fairly quickly. It worked out great.

It seems like this could be a really good program. I've paid $543 into this system for my whole house warranty and the price does not seem that bad for all of my appliances. If the system worked like it claims it does and if people were putting themselves in the same position that any person with a problem is in, this could be a helpful product. I've had the warranty for a year and it's easy to call in to file a claim. But sometimes, it's difficult to get somebody to respond. For my AC issue, J.E. Johnson called and told me they would be out. They didn't know exactly when because they were coming back from doing work in a flood-ravaged area. But at least they kept in contact.
I had called Friday night for the AC problem and I was told that, for whatever reason, they couldn't get anybody to respond to my call. That seems a little bit off the wall. Then finally, on Sunday afternoon, I got a young lady on the line. She told me that they would get a hold of their on-call man and he would call me and let me know how quickly he would come out. I didn't hear anything so the next morning, I gave this nice lady a call and within a couple of minutes, she had me a schedule. So it may be just cross communications. It could be that the gentleman who was supposed to come out was busy.
A lot of times, American Home Shield is dealing with human people and when people want something done, they want it done immediately. But I also realize the fact that American Home Shield is handling other people just like they're handling me and you never know what goes on. I think they do their best to try and get somebody out immediately.

Then they said, “We’re gonna get somebody out there as soon as we can.” Three days later, the plumbers showed up, but I had to cap off the hot water heater or else my kids wouldn’t have been able to take showers or go to the bathroom for three days. Then they told me that because I touched it, they weren’t gonna cover the claim. So, AHS didn’t cover the claim. I had to go and spend $4,000 for a plumber to come out and replace the water heater.

I had a guy sent out by Home Shield for the water heater. They replaced a copper pipe and soldered it on the top of the water heater. It was great and everything was timely. Then, I had a claim for the washing machine and a tech from Wilk's came out to look at it. Wilk's said that it needed to be replaced. Then, Passion Service was sent out for a second opinion and on their tech's report, he put that he recommended that the washer be replaced. There were two companies that said the washing machine needed to be replaced. I've been calling American Home Shield and I would be on hold for about35 minutes and then it disconnects. Then, I go online and when I put the claim number, it tells me that I have to call the 1800 number. It sends me in a loop and it's so frustrating.

One time, the provider that they sent out was complaining the minute he got here about having to do any kind of work and he was supposed to call me back. He had to look for a part and it took me about six weeks to get a garage door opener fixed. I told Home Shield to not send that guy back out here and send somebody else. Eventually, it was repaired right by a good company. Other than that bad experience, I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I had a technician from Total Air Care and he was great, cordial, and on time. He was quick, efficient, and he solved the problem. I will request them the next time I need service.

My claim where ACE Heating & Cooling came out went excellently. I called my claim in and American Home Shield told me that somebody would call me, and they did. It was very quick and I enjoyed dealing with the rep. They are great and highly recommended. The contractor did a good job. He was very cordial and professional, and he explained everything that was happening. He knew what the issue was as soon as he got here. He checked a few things and within half an hour, he was packing up and getting ready to go.
He stayed a little bit longer too because he changed my filters for me. I've got an 18-foot ceiling, and he did not want me climbing a ladder, so he went up there and change it -- and he did not charge me a deductible. He also told me what I could do to avoid a charge next time, how I could fix it myself. We got AHS when we bought the house a year ago for six months because we didn’t know anything about our utilities. We’ve already renewed, and we like them so much. I will never be without a home warranty.

The tech from the first appliance company that Home Shield sent out said that he thought that there was something wrong with the balancing mechanism of the washer. But he was unable to get a part because they weren’t a certified Maytag Service Center. But then, he told his office that it was a user error. It's like he's kind of being dishonest. If he thinks that it's user error, then say so to my face. I haven't spoken to Home Shield about that because it's kinda difficult to actually get them on the phone. Everything is automated, or go online and fill this and that out. It's almost impossible to talk to anybody unless you're getting a new policy.
The other guys came out and they replaced the board, which I think has nothing to do with the balancing of the machine. Even if I put in a small number of clothes, randomly, it would not spin out the clothes and it would give an error code of “off-balance” or “overloaded.” And it's not overloaded. My tub is a 5.5 cubic-foot tub, the biggest one that they make. It doesn't matter if we put in a small number of clothes. If I put in like three days’ worth of shirts, underwear, and socks from just me and my husband, it won't spin it all the way out. And if I put in three days' of jeans, it may spin it all the way out. Nobody seems to be able to fix it. I've had to submit five different claims for the washer and the same goes for my refrigerator.
One morning, the floor was all flooded and I opened up the freezer and the water in the automatic icemaker kept running. I was able to empty all that, clean that out, and push the little arm up so I'm telling it to not make ice anymore so it would stop filling the tray. It was during the COVID-19 thing when it first started. I just left it like that and we didn't use it. A week later, I dropped the arm to try and make ice and it wouldn't. I could almost hear it trying but it never made ice. Finally, I was able to submit a claim and the contractors came out and said the ice maker was bad. They replaced the ice maker and they said it would start making ice in 12 hours. It didn’t make ice in 12 hours so I went online to American Shield. I said I needed another service claim because it was not repaired.
The service company called me and sent somebody else out. They tried to tell me that the filter underneath the sink that goes to the icemaker was clogged and that was my problem. It was not the filter that's clogged. But it's okay. I went and I got a new filter and we replaced it. I put the filter in and tested that the water came out from the other end before I hooked the water line back up to the filter so it could flow up to my refrigerator freezer. There was still no ice. I called and they sent out a tech. He pulled the refrigerator all the way out and the little mechanism in the back of the fridge at the top that allows the water to flow into the icemaker went out. They had to order the parts.
I think that the contractors are just trying to replace the most expensive part of the item without even really diagnosing and seeing what's wrong with the thing. It was the whole computer programming board on my washing machine and the whole icemaker on my refrigerator which didn't solve the problems. I have a two or three-year policy with Home Shield, which I'm kicking myself for, and I will probably not renew with them. I'll try and find a different homeowners’ insurance company after that. They make it very simple to fill out a service request and the response from the time you fill that out is extremely quick. They would send you a text to let you know you've been assigned somebody to fix your appliance and they would be calling you. And they do. That part of the service is awesome but the contractors they use are terrible. If they would just find some different service contractors, that would be great.
Are you still in need of assistance?

We had to wash clothes so I really needed those fixed. Also, the little spinning thing in my dishwasher was off and the water wasn't draining at the bottom of the dishwasher. I submitted the claim online and the AHS website was pretty straightforward. Saulter's Appliance Repair came out last week. I didn't know when to expect them, but I knew that they would give a call within 24 business hours. I was surprised they didn't have a face mask, given the circumstances. But they did the fix in 10 minutes. I checked the dishwasher and there's no water at the bottom of it. The washer and dryer has been working like it was before.

And a phone call is noisy, intrusive and bothers everybody, whereas doing something like that online is just fine. The guy from Humboldt Plumbing was really good. He was professional. We had a repairman, Jason Evans, with Veteran Heating and Air Conditioning come to our home today to fix one of our air conditioning units which was not cooling. Yesterday we called AHS to schedule the repair. We were able to talk with Jason yesterday to set up the appointment, and by mid-afternoon of the next day the problem had been diagnosed, fixed, and cooling - all within 24 hours. Jason was a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. He is a professional and was able to explain the capacitor problem in understandable terms. Thank you Jason and AHS.

Recurring problems with refrigerator/ won't replace. We have had our refrigerator serviced at least 5 times. Each time it's "fixed" only to fail again. Each service call has to be scheduled, at times the calls are canceled at the last minute, having to be rescheduled again. We have put at least 3 service call charges into this appliance and it is still failing. If you call to schedule service, expect a long wait time, with no option for a call back. If you try to schedule online, expect a message that reads "an error has occurred, please try again in a few minutes." Overall, the scheduling process is time consuming and less than efficient. The service is great once the technician comes, but don't expect the process to be seamless especially if you don't live in a metropolitan area.

Updated on 06/16/2020: Today is June 16 and I STILL have not been given a refund that American Home Shield owes me. It's $100. I have been in touch with a representative and she continually tells me that it takes 3-5 days to get a refund. It's been much longer than five days. In fact, it's been since June 8. I do believe that is more than 3-5 days. American Home Shield didn't have any problems taking my money but they sure don't want to give it back to me. PLEASE SOMEONE REFUND MY MONEY!!!!
Original review: I have had a contract with AHS for decades and have only used it twice. Once when I lived in Florida and recently now that I live in a different state. My central ac started having issues recently so I contacted AHS to have someone come out and check the system. I had to pay $100 for the dispatch fee which I knew I would have to. An ac/heating company came out, checked the ac unit but didn't find any problems. However, shortly thereafter, the unit stopped cooling and the fan stopped blowing. I contacted the local ac/heating company and was advised to contact my home warranty company (AHS) to have someone sent back out to my house. The company owner said that since he was just out to my house recently, I shouldn't have to pay another $100 for a service fee. This is called a 'recall'.
I called AHS this morning and was on hold for HOURS. No one ever answered the phone. The chat feature wasn't working on the website either and no one responded to me on Facebook. My house is extremely hot even though I have the windows open and last night I couldn't sleep because it was so hot. My two dogs are also suffering in this heat and humidity. The only way I could get the ac/heating company dispatched to my house was to pay ANOTHER $100. This was not requested by the ac company by the way. It was the ONLY option on AHS website. If I didn't pay the money I would not get any service.
I am still trying to get in touch with AHS to discuss getting reimbursed but it's impossible. I realize that many companies are short staffed during this pandemic but AHS outsources all calls to other countries. There is no excuse for these employees not answering the phone. I got so fed up with this company after years of being a loyal customer that I got a contract with another home warranty company. They were recommended to me by the ac/heating company. The price is the same as AHS and the coverage is the same. The difference is that they don't outsource their calls. Also, they answer the phone quickly. They have an 'A' rating with the BBB and many positive reviews unlike AHS. It's pretty sad that AHS has gotten so bad that their employees won't even answer the phone. I am now out $100 when this should have never happened.

Our washing machine broke in the middle of May. After being on hold for an hour, we finally got a service appointment for a week later. Service employee promised us a response from the company within two business days about whether they would replace or repair our machine. More than a week later, we received no response from the company. We called and again waited an hour to speak to someone. Service rep made us an offer on some machines and said we could select our option and the machine would arrive in 8-10 business days. We called them back the very next day with our selection (again waited an hour on hold), but were informed that the washing machine THEY offered would not be available until July.
They admitted that they made a mistake by offering a machine that was unavailable but refused to make us a new offer. We asked to speak to a manager who again refused to make us a fair offer or make amends for a mistake that was made by their own service rep! All we wanted was a fair offer, we weren't trying to get more money out of the deal, as accused by the manager. We were forced to take the minimal amount they offered to buy our own washer. We are STILL waiting for a reimbursement and having to follow up with them to get our money.
Every time we call, it's at least an hour wait on hold and nothing is ever straightforward. I highly recommend NOT utilizing this company. They are not worth the frustration what to speak of becoming victim of their extremely poor business ethic. Companies should value their customers and be willing to make reparations for mistakes made on their end that affect their customers well being, especially during the time of a pandemic. Unfortunately this company does not believe in that. I would not recommend them to anyone as a worthwhile insurance experience. What a disappointment.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I'm not very handy. Other people come out to do things and they charge me an absorbent amount of money. If I'm able to pay a little bit and just do the $100, that makes it well worth my time so I renewed with Home Shield. I had an electric issue and the tech from 1 Call Contractors was very knowledgeable. He traced the wires to see what was wet and there was one that was missing or not connected to the other part. And the transformer had burned because it would only ding just a little bit. He figured out what that was and he replaced it. He was done in less than 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend it.

There were a lot of problems with the dryer and the tech from Master Pro Repair fixed everything. The parts took longer, but it's COVID and there are all these things and I knew that. As soon as he came and fixed it, I was really happy. He took the time and he got it right. The good part about American Home Shield is if we call, we can get somebody out and we can find out how bad the problem is. They assess it and they can fix it. And I can then make a decision at what point should I replace my appliances. But if I can keep them running, I like to do that until I'm ready to get what I really want. I'm really happy and I tell people to do American Home Shield. I learned what they do and what they don't do and that's fine with the parameters. I just go with the program, whatever it is. I'm just glad I can get somebody out and look at the appliance and then figure out a plan. We've gone through the ups and downs and we are not leaving the program.

American Home Shield needs to be more upfront as to what their policy is if a product needs to be replaced. My air conditioner is at the end of its life now and the repairman said that they will just keep fixing it until it's totally gone, which is fine with me. I don't care. But I wanna know what my option is once it has to be replaced like if they're gonna give me a hard time, if they're gonna pay for it, and how much they're going to pay. They just need to be more transparent about that. I would really appreciate somebody contacting me whether it's via email, a phone call, or a letter to explain better the replacement of machinery, furnace, air conditioner, and that kind of thing.
Otherwise, American Home Shield has some very good contractors. I've used them personally. In fact, I requested them when I did my service call. When my air conditioner was not working, they sent out Home Service Corp. They had to change two parts and they were in and out within probably 45 minutes to an hour. They were great.

American Home Shield was good in the beginning but lately, they've been horrible. Dealing with them has been a nightmare and right now, I'm really upset with them. I placed the work order, then I had to cancel it and I called two consecutive days to do that. And when the GE rep came to the house, I couldn't let him in because of the virus and I'm a high risk. Then they charged me for the call even if he never came in. I called back and I was on the hour each time with them for almost an hour. Their rep said they would credit me but I got my bill yesterday and they did not credit me. I've gotta call them again and see if I can get it.
Aside from that, I had to call AHS again to get my microwave and cooktop fixed. I had a work order for both of them and when the GE rep came in, he did the job and he was good. But he said he wouldn't look at my stovetop and he didn't have a work order for it. AHS said they'd call me back, but they never called me back. And when I asked to speak to a supervisor, they said they would call me but I have never heard from a supervisor in trying to get this straightened out. Now, I gotta call again and get someone to come out to look at my cooktop.
AHS would also double-charge for these calls but why can't the GE guy do both repairs when he was here? Other than that, when I called AHS about my microwave and cooktop issues, they said that the tech would do both items. I even called back to double-check but when the GE workman came out, he said he couldn't do it. So, I don't know where the screw-up is and this is the third time that this has happened.

There was a problem with the air conditioning unit. I called AHS. Somebody called and left me a voicemail saying that they had received the claim and that that compressor was being ordered, and that when everything was ready that they would contact me and let me know that they were fixing it. So, I got a call from Eco Air and I was at work. They needed me to come out and turn on the air conditioner, and I told them I couldn’t do that ‘cause I was at work. They’d have to wait ‘till my lunch break, which they did, and everything was fine. Everything is fixed now. The guys were really nice. They were polite and cordial, I'd call them again. It's been a great experience with AHS. It's more than paid for itself on this call because I saved a lot of money. They had told me that if I hadn’t had American Home Shield, it would be about $2,500 repair, and with AHS, it was just over 600.

He figured it out very quickly and told us what was gonna happen. He said he was gonna order some parts to our house. I don’t know how he knew they were here but he just called me up and scheduled a time, and came in and fixed it. The dishwasher has worked great since. We’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 months and it’s easy to make a claim. The people I talked to on the phone were super helpful and very supportive. The claim before was a water heater and the person they sent out gave us an estimate. They made that kinda difficult 'cause I'm by myself and they want me to take the dimensions of where the oven is going to go. I'm gonna forgo the replacement though as I may be moving and I'm not gonna have another oven put in somewhere I'm not gonna be. For the claims that I've called AHS to fix, their techs came out and did the same thing. I had to replace my dryer and they wanted me to take its dimensions. I had to get somebody over to do that. Regardless, I've had AHS for years and I've been pretty pleased with them.

And with the whole COVID thing, they kept their distance. They did their thing and I didn’t have to worry about it at all. But I was not too pleased with the other contractor. It was KRP who had to fix the problem that they did. The contractor from KRP told me the problem. He said, “Well, we have to change this,” and I’m like, “Well, the last company did when they were here for the other problem.” So the other contractor fixed something that shouldn’t have been fixed because the real problem wasn’t addressed.

My claim went great. My GFCI on the back porch wasn't working and the technician replaced that. He put an outdoor one in because when I replaced it when we had bought the house, I put an indoor one in. Then he went and checked the circuit breaker in the garage to make sure that it was good to go because the GFCI was popping the circuit breaker every once in a while. Everything was good and it has been working great ever since. He had great customer service too. He came out in a timely manner and he called. He would tell me where he was at. Then he explained everything. So it was all around a good job.
Everything was great with American Home Shield too. My wife and I are both real happy. I like the ease online. When we bought the house, it was our realtor who suggested American Home Shield. I guess selling houses, he'd used them before. But we had also gotten a year's warranty on my second house that I bought in '09 and that was with American Home Shield too. But we never used it and we never renewed it. We lived there for almost nine years and it was a 50-year-old house but everything was fairly new when we bought it all. On this house, I just renewed our contract, which will start next month.
I did it for a peace of mind. It's just like a new car. We have the warranty on it in case something happens. We're also getting up in age so we're getting ready to be on a fixed income. If the AC goes out, that's a lot of money if something, like the AC, breaks. I can do some work around the house but for major stuff, we gotta have a professional do it and a warranty is good to have. But before I renewed, another home warranty had said that American Home Shield was only there for the initial. He quoted me a plan for the next three years and I asked him to let me talk it over with the wife first because it was a little too high. They wanted $190-something down and then $185 a month for 18 months.
I waited a couple of days and I called American Home Shield to find out. They said that I could renew. I got a renewal thing from American Home Shield stating how much it was gonna be a month. I think it was $65 a month and the rep explained everything. Then he tried to tell me what they would only cover on certain stuff and I knew that was him trying to sell his product by saying that they don't cover stuff. So I asked him specifically what they covered on this and that, and he said he was getting ready to send me an email too. So we double-checked it over and then I called that other guy back. As far as he knows, we're not getting a warranty anymore.

American Home Shield was the warranty I got when I purchased the home, and it was easy to make the claim with them. I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom to the first-floor bathroom, and I sent this one over the phone. The experience was good and the contractor was able to come out the same day. Niebuhr Plumbing & Heating came in and figured out that something had to be fixed. They also gave us a couple of suggestions and routes that we could take. The secondary damages that occurred because of what needed to be fixed, however, was not covered. It was not explained until I called back and I asked about it. In order to fix what they had to fix, they had to rip the ceiling apart in order to find what was wrong. So, now my ceiling is torn and I have to get that fixed on my own. If you are considering a home warranty program, read the policy and understand what is covered and what is not.

When I called Home Shield and made a claim that I needed someone to come out and take a look at the air, they gave me Dunn Rite and their number and said that they would be contacting them. They also said that the contractor should get ahold of me within 24 hours and if not, I am free to call them. As soon they gave me the number, I called and I told Dunn Rite who I was. I had to leave a message, gave my address, and told them they could call me. I didn’t hear from them until the following week. And every time that I called, I got an answering machine.
I was a little concerned because I looked them up online and I saw that they had had some problems. I don't know if this was the same one or not but I was getting ready to call Home Shield back and ask if I could have somebody else when Dunn Rite called me. They sent someone out about four days later and the tech came when they said he was gonna come. I explained to him the problem and he went to his truck, went to the unit, and told me what he had done. I asked for a copy of the worksheet and he said they don’t give them to the customer and that they go back to the company. But I wrote down what they had done and the unit is working.
We also had a claim for the mainline being clogged. The contractor would have to go up on the roof and take care of it through there, but they wouldn’t and they said they don’t do that. I said I wanted my money back but I don’t believe that that money was ever returned. I called a couple of times but what we did was we hired and paid for the plumber ourselves. I've never had a problem other than that.

We've been with American Home Shield the whole time we've owned the house, which was from late 2014. The process they have now online is easy and you can call if it's something that is not covered in there. They have been good as well as their follow-up. The timeframes they've given me have always been within those timeframes and I've never had a problem with them.
We had a circuit breaker that kept popping every time we plug in a certain appliance. It would pop the circuit breaker no matter what. We plugged it into the kitchen so, I wanted it checked to make sure that the electrical was okay. The rep from Turner Electrical and Lighting came out and checked our wiring, circuit breakers and everything. And they were good. So, he checked the appliance itself. He said that it was drawing too much electricity. It was only supposed to get up to a certain number and as soon as it is plugged in, it was already at that number, or 20. Once it hits 20, it's supposed to pop the circuit breaker. The guy who came out was awesome because he took the time and explained everything to me, what it was doing and what he was doing, and then letting us know that the appliance itself was going bad.

I was not happy with the contractor All American Services. Last Saturday when the appointment was made, I did not hear "from 8:00 to 1:00". I heard my appointment time was at 1:00. I even repeated it and the rep said yes. I also told her we had been without air for a week and I asked her if they had cancellations and whether I could get in earlier if they did. She snipped me and said this schedule was a cancellation. But how was I supposed to know this was a cancellation? I just thanked her and hung up.
Then they texted on Saturday morning and said the tech was en route. I didn't check my phone until 9:00 and when I looked at the phone, it said the technician had gone. But if he drove this far, saw two cars in the driveway then rang the bell and no one answered, why didn't he knock on the door? I would not have left knowing people are suffering without air without knocking. The rep claimed the tech came. But I told her no, that she couldn't tell me he came and didn't knock, especially when they knew we were expecting them. I did not expect him at 8:30 in the morning. And besides, how were they even gonna give me an appointment at 8:30 and he was done at 8:10? I called Home Shield and said I don't like this company. I told them what happened and I was livid because we were still without air. I told them there was nothing they could do because the contractor was closed. Home Shield just apologized. That didn't help me any.
Today, the technician came back and I was very disappointed when he told me that he couldn't fix the unit. He said that it needs to have a part replaced and he would have to call and get authorization. Right now, the unit is leaking Freon and he says it's blocked somewhere in there, which is the reason we are not getting any air. We have been suffering for almost two weeks now because we had to wait a week to get in the first week. So we are not happy. Now, I'm just gonna wait and see what happens – If the contractor can get authorization to fix it and then go on. If they can't, I don't know what we're gonna do. Another thing is that even before COVID came along, you could call Home Shield on the phone and be on hold forever to get someone on the phone. That's not good customer service.

When the tech came out, he said the water wasn’t coming from the AC. He said they usually have the condensation directed out into a bathroom but they didn’t do it in this case. They had it directed outside and it happens to come out right where the air conditioner unit is, so it’s pouring out there right on the ground next to the air conditioner unit. He said the water is supposed to vent out somewhere and that’s where they have it venting out. So there wasn’t anything to be done, but it was a good enough experience.

Everything with American Home Shield is very easy. We've been with them for about 12 years. When we bought our first house, it came with American Home Shield. Then when we bought our second house, we switched from another company to American Home Shield to add this house on it, because they are very easy to deal with. I can do claims online, and they’re very quick to respond. We do everything online. We only have to call every once in a while if I have to update something that I did wrong. Jim Hubbard Electric came out recently and fixed two attic fans. On the attic fans, I entered one claim for both attic fans but in their system, it only triggered one attic fan. I just had to call and add the second fan while the tech was here.

Home Shield does a wonderful job. They had to replace my water heater and the only thing I had to pay for was the upgrade. They also replaced the faucet in the kitchen more than once and the garbage disposal. Also, I've had them look at the lights. The only negative was last summer when they sent somebody out for my AC unit. The unit kept going out and they kept sending somebody out and replacing a part. It was horrible. Finally, a guy from a company in Forest Park went out here. He wired some stuff to the bottom and to the top like putting pieces together. After being with Home Shield for over 20 years, they got their money right out of me that instead of keep piecing that thing together, replace it.
Other than that, they did everything else according to the terms of the contract. And they don't have any problems with getting the appointment. My most recent claim was when the spin of my washing machine was horrible. It was loud. I had to go hold the machine down and the machine was turning sideways as much as it could. The young man from Rocket Repair got it working right. He showed me how to do the legs and check the legs myself and he washed a few clothes. He did everything to check and make sure everything was right.
Mildred,
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

I called American Home Shield and made a claim for the spa. They forwarded me to Emerald Pools. My pool pump goes out just about every other year and lately, every year. I gave that concern to them. And because of the whole coronavirus and what was going on, the rep asked how it runs. I said that it seemed like the hotter the summer, the louder the pump runs. Then, she asked if no one has ever redone the pipes besides the pump itself and she said that could have a lot to do with it. She said sometimes there can be buildups in the pipe that can restrict water flow and those buildups can cause the pumps to burn out. She was very helpful as to asking me a lot of questions and more of a description of how my pump runs.
Then, the techs came out and they redid the pipes on it. It was a PVC pipe and they said because of the coronavirus, their warehouse was backed up for a couple of months and they were gonna make sure to do what they could. I came home from work and they had given me a brand new housing and a new pump and they redid all my pipes. I was very glad for that. The rep also said that it should last me for at least three years, hopefully, longer. They did a really good job.
But I'm not fully satisfied with Home Shield. The pool pump goes out every year and every year, I would get the same service. Also, when I make a claim, I don’t want different people every time. I want somebody that I know is gonna come out and do what needs to be done. A company would come out but they wouldn’t really talk to me about it. Then, I would call the next year and Home Shield would send me to somebody else. So I have another company coming out saying that the last company was wrong. And there were times where I got into arguments over a guy coming out and I just send them off.
I have had different people come out for my heater. The last guy came out, took my heater apart, and didn’t put all the parts back. He left it on my roof. Then, my AC guy came out and he said he couldn't touch it. It was the middle of summer. He said whoever came out before him took it all apart. I had to turn around, find a heater person to come out, and try to make a claim with what was going on and how it was left. He said the guy probably forgot to do it. From what we saw, it looked like it was kind of in pieces.
It’s give or take but I’m not a person to go to work and spend my money on repeated service that should have been taken care of the first time. And that’s what a lot of our service with American Home Shield has been. I was even looking to go elsewhere. But the lady managed to convince me. She told me about their special if it was other appliances that I'm worried about being covered and she saved me almost $18 a month. My monthly copay goes up because I got an upgrade but I don’t wanna continue fighting with service people when they come out. It’s like I’m trying to tell them what’s wrong and what’s going on and they just don’t hear me.
I really made it a fight to find companies who’s willing to help because I just need things taken care of so maybe I can have a year or two of a break instead of paying 100 bucks here and there out-of-pocket every time I call Home Shield. Even though my payment is $58, I paid $300 as the copay because the first person who came out didn’t do a good job. Now, I’m having to do it again.

I had an icemaker claim with Home Shield and the first time Hotshot came out, the gentleman was about two hours late. I had to call to ask if he was coming and he said he got held up. Then, he just fixed the piece and left. He was very quick, very quiet, and I thought he was very professional at first, but they were late. He came out on a Thursday and by Friday, I called and said my ice maker was not working. The rep checked the schedule and said they would have somebody come out here Monday. Again, they were late. They were supposed to be here between 3:00 and 5:00 and they didn't show up till 7:00. Then, they walked in and they couldn't fix it because they didn't have a part. They said they would let me know when they have the part.
The next day, their rep called me and said they've got an appointment for me. I got a text saying which day and the timeframe they were supposed to be here. Then, I got a call at 8 o'clock at night and I missed it but their guy showed up at my house and it was 8:40 at night. I let him in and I was almost not willing to but it was the same crew, so I recognized them. I told him I thought he made a mistake. I pulled up my phone and showed him the appointment time. He said that what was sent to me was wrong. Then, he said to give the icemaker 24 hours to make ice.
The next morning, when I woke up, I called and said it wasn't making ice. The rep put me on hold and talked to the boss. She came back and told me there was nothing more they could do and that I could request somebody else. I would never want them to come back to my home. I was really perturbed when they showed up at 8:40 at night and they were late consistently. I asked Home Shield to make sure they never send this company out to my home again. I've had other technicians and companies come by and they were very professional, wonderful, and great. It takes a long time to get in touch with somebody at Home Shield during this crisis so I'll have to be really careful. But at this point, they've done what they were supposed to do when I called.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

3 Brothers came out as scheduled, opened the back of the dryer up and cleaned out a clog in the dryer where the lint comes out. They then said everything was good. I said, "Okay." The next day, I washed a load of clothes, put it in the dryer, went through the dry cycle, opened it up, and it was still wet. I put it on a different cycle and went through the second cycle, but it was still mostly wet. One more time, I put it on high heat a second time and it dried enough that I could put it on hangers. In Texas, we've got high humidity down by the Gulf Coast.
I called the contractor and said that the dryer was not working. They said that they were going to order a timer. I said the clothes were running through the timer on the cycles, but it was not drying. The guy said that the timer has to do with the computer, which has to do with telling the clothes to dry. He said that they were going to order the part and get with me as soon as the part comes in. They have not contacted me back yet. They were here on the 28th and I can understand at taking weeks and days to get a part.
I'm not thrilled with 3 Brothers. In the past, they have done other things here at the house and they've done a good job. This time, they didn't. They should have checked other things with their tools. Most electronics can be kept with different meters. They also never turned the dryer on after they cleaned the clog out. I don't feel that they did everything that they could do to determine that the problem was solved. They just assumed that it was solved. Moreover, the clog wasn't that bad.
When I tried to call them back repeatedly, nobody answered the phone. I left a message and said that I gave them a really good rating with my survey from AHS, but I was fixing to go back and take it back if I don't hear from somebody. Several hours later, I called again and a man answered. I told him who I was and he said he'd have the technician call me and hung up. He did not say sorry or that they'd get it taken care of right away. The way he responded to me was not professional. We love AHS. They do great work. We've raised 10 kids and they were raised with AHS and most of them have it.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

I called Home Shield for a maintenance and Total Comfort called right away. They came out and everything has been fine. The performance of the unit is pretty good. It helped with my power bill for being so hot because we had to use fans. It cooled things back then. Home Shield has been a blessing for me. I don’t have to look and call everybody when things break or need fixing. I just call them and they set me up.

Our AC wasn't working appropriately. Come to find out, the fan was stuck from wintertime. Submitting a claim to AHS was really easy. I put in the call on a Friday night. But they didn't get back to me until I called them on Tuesday 'cause of the holiday. It would have been within one business day, but due to the holiday weekend, there was a time delay. I don't blame them for that. The contractors fixed it right away too.
However, AHS needs to start covering a little bit more stuff. I recommended them to my aunt who had the house and she had some issues with them covering things for her, to the point that she ended up canceling service with them. Because they just would never cover the things that she needed covered, even though she was under the impression that things were all taken care of with her plan.
Sometimes, I pay 75 bucks, and then it's an issue. Like we had an issue with our garage door was broken. We didn't know what was going on with it so, I called them. Somebody came out. They sent somebody from the other side of the state, which I don't understand that because we live in one of the bigger cities of Iowa. When they got there, they told us that one of our springs were broken for our garage door and refused to do any other work 'till we paid for the spring. We needed a new garage door opener. The unit itself was burnt out. They said, "We're not gonna cover this 'till you pay for the spring." The problem with that was we didn't have an extra 200 bucks that day to get the spring fixed. So, we just paid for a local company to come and repair everything. It cost us $700. So, most of that should've been covered.
When you pay that much money for an insurance, just in case, when you actually need them, they put too little stipulations on everything. "We'll cover it," but even if my AC woulda been out, they only cover $10 of the Freon to replace it. The most difficult part is getting somebody to talk to. Because they prefer to do everything online. So, if I try to call in for any reason, it's really difficult to get somebody on the line. But overall, we had a pretty decent coverage with them for most things. There were some times we had to use them. Like our water heater went out and they replaced everything. Had we not had them, we would have been in trouble because we didn't have the money to come up with, 800 bucks. They did do a lot and I appreciate the service we had with them.

Leo Tech quickly came to check what the problem was with the washing machine, which was making a noise. The word the contractor used was normal wear and tear and that some parts needed to be changed. They reported to AHS, and AHS came to the conclusion that the part cannot be replaced because the company had discontinued that model. They replaced the washing machine. They gave me the options and I picked the first option they gave us. But there were a few changes. We wanted to have a different color and we wanted to have a little bit of what we call a pedestal on the top of it. I had to pay for that one, but they replaced the machine.

I have two air conditioners and the one upstairs wasn't running all the time. It wasn't getting cool and was getting hotter. Last year, I had an air conditioner man come out with American Shield who looked at it and he was outside for two minutes. He said it was fine and that it was because I live above my garage. But I told him that the air conditioner had never been that hot. So, he put a new thermostat and said that it should be good. But it didn't and it was almost winter at the time.
Then, when I used it this year, it was hotter. I submitted a claim with AHS and they sent out a tech from ES Heating & Air. He looked at the AC really well and nicely. He said that the Freon or antifreeze wasn't very low but there was just a little of it. He put some of that in and said that should do it. And he didn't charge me for the Freon. Then he waited, and it was nice and cool up there. He was very good and we hadn't had any problems since the repair. Aside from that, when he was here, I asked him if he was going to wear a mask when he comes in and if he will put something on his shoe. He said yes and he did all of that. He was very professional, too. He knew what he was doing, took care of the problem, and explained what he did to me. I would recommend him to anybody. I also liked that he gave me the paperwork because a lot of techs don't do that, which I find weird.
Other than that, AHS has always been good to me and I recommended four friends to them this year. They love American Home Shield but a lot of them are old-school like me. If I have something that needs to be serviced, I do it online, but sometimes I wanna ask them questions about something and I can't get ahold of them. It's very difficult to speak to a rep and my friend told me that he couldn't get through either. If you want to talk to someone, their chat is on. But if you try to call them, you can never get them on the phone. That is frustrating to me and when you have to stay on the phone for two hours, that's ridiculous. Maybe AHS needs more help or they need to structure something because that's a way to lose a lot of people.
Aside from that, I don't like to make my appointments over the phone and have somebody come because someone came here last year that I didn't like at all. And if I find somebody that I liked, I would ask for him if I could when something happens to my air conditioner. But despite that, when I got to talk to someone, the reps that I talked to were very nice and very professional.
Julie,
Thanks for letting us know how everything worked out for you and thanks for recommending us. We look forward to helping you in the future. Take Care.

I use Home Shield because they do a great job. They do really fast. And the other thing is because I’m not in the site. I’m not in Myrtle Beach where my condo is. I’m in North Carolina. If I need something, the only thing I have to do is make a phone call and Home Shield's guy goes over there and fixes it for me. My neighbor opened the door for the contractor to fix the air condition and he said everything is working great.
A few months ago, Home Shield sent a tech to fix the air condition because I don’t have the heater. And what happened was, the guy from that company fixed the heater and disconnected the air condition. He disconnected all the wires or he connected something wrong. I only had the heater. And now, this guy who went a few days ago, said the guy who was over here did everything wrong. He disconnected the air condition and he connected directly only the heater. He did a really bad job.
And the first time, when he got in, he didn’t talk to anybody. He just got in. He didn’t say, “Good morning.” He went into the machine inside the apartment, did something with the wires, and then went outside and left. He didn’t let me know, “Sir, I finished my job. Try," or, “Sir, I finished. Everything is okay.” When I went to see, “Where is the guy?” my wife said, “I don’t know. He hasn't come back yet.” When I went outside, he was in his truck and he left. I followed him with my car and said, “Sir, hold on. What happened with my air condition? Did you already fix it?” He said, “Everything is done” and he kept driving. I said, “Sir, can you stop and let me know?”
And then I asked him, “Did you already try? Did it work?” He said, “I'm not supposed to do that. I come to fix and not to try.” What? When you fix something, you have to try if your job is okay or at least everything is working. He said, “I'm not supposed to come back. I only come to fix the air condition. I didn’t come here to try if it’s working or not.” Can you believe that? And then he didn’t want to stop.
I had to call the air condition company. I said, “Sir, this happened with your guy. I need him back to my apartment and try if everything what he did is working good or not.” And the company called him on the radio and said, “You have to come back and show him everything is working.” He was really mad with me. And then when he went inside, he tried the air condition. It was working, and then he left. He didn’t say anything. I understand now why he didn’t want to come back because he did everything wrong.
I already called the company yesterday. I said, “I need a letter, what the guy did.” Because the new guy who fixed the unit two weeks ago said he did everything wrong. He’s the same company, American Comfort, but he said he did everything wrong. I need a letter from the company I will send to Home Shield because I need my $100 back. I paid for something that was perfectly working. The tech broke it. I tried to reach the company because I paid twice for the same thing. Home Shield takes another $100 and then they go to fix it. They're supposed to be okay because the air condition was working before. Home Shield did a great job, but the contractor did a really bad job.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I've heard a lot of good things about Home Shield. I used to do home appliance deliveries and we did a lot of work for them. They've been there for people’s appliances that had gone out. So I chose them for my home warranty and they’ve been very prompt on the few times they have come out. They've taken care of everything very nice so I’ve been very happy. I had an electric issue that Master Lee's came out for and they did good work.

AHS's claims process is easy if it’s something they’re able to find a service provider to fix the issue. The contractor who came for my AC issue was very responsive and got it fixed. However, it’s difficult when they couldn’t get anybody to fix your item. You need to get it fixed yourself, pay for it upfront, and then they'll reimburse you. I have a JennAir stove that was relatively old, but it was specific to our setup, however, the part wasn’t available. AHS said that they'd give me the cost of the part towards the purchase of a new JennAir. They were gonna give me a couple of hundred bucks, but it’s a $3,000 stove. That doesn’t help me.
AHS needs a bigger network of service providers with people who are willing to work on more than just specific products. A couple of times, people have come out and said that they don't work on my type of dishwasher. I asked, "Why did AHS send you?" There’s a little bit of disconnect there. I’ve had people come from 200 miles away because they were the closest person who was willing to even touch my equipment. Then when they get here, they'd say that they don't have the parts for the repair. Then the claim goes back to AHS. Then, I have to go find parts, pay for them myself, and pay for somebody to install them. I then have to make a claim back to AHS, which doesn’t make any sense.
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.
