The refrigerator had water leaking all over the floor. I called American Home Shield, paid the $75 that I normally have to pay, and they contacted somebody in Suffolk, Virginia. The contractor came out and they fixed it. The temperature control was faulty and they replaced it. They were very concerned because of this coronavirus situation with masks and gloves. Everything went wonderful. Everything’s working great.

We had no air conditioning, so I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent out contractor A. Contractor A came out and erroneously claimed that the condenser was dead and needed to be replaced and that the reason that the condenser had died was that it was a replacement condenser, not the original one. When it had been installed, they only secured it with two of the four bolts at the base. I don't know anything about air conditioning, but I'm a research scientist and I fiddle around with a lot of fancy equipment, and that was an absurd contention. So, with some difficulty, I managed by getting in touch with people in American Home Shield's corporate office to have them send out someone for a second opinion, which was Excellence Air.
Excellence Air came out and said that the condenser was okay. They replaced a fan and one or two other little parts, and the air conditioning worked. Then 28 days later, again, there was no air. Fortunately it was within that 30-day time span and Excellence Air came out a second time. Now, the condenser was dead. So, they replaced the condenser along with a couple of other parts, and everything so far, and hopefully, will continue hunky dory. My experience with Excellence Air was fabulous. The owner, who's the only person I've ever met, was the person who came out both times, and he is absolutely fabulous. He explains things clearly, and does the work in a very time-efficient fashion, and I couldn't be happier.

I put in the claim with AHS last Sunday and I didn't put it as an emergency when my father's water heater burst. But the contractors did. I talked to them when they came out first thing in the next morning and my father was in the bathroom. So after 10 minutes, they left. They rescheduled it for the next day. Then they came out and they did a shut-off on it so he could have water, but the toilet in the bathroom’s not working. I went over there thinking they shut it off, but they did something so his toilet’s not working, so he was pretty upset yesterday. But they're coming out to fix it today. Between 8:00 and 12:00, it should be fixed.
My father used AHS quite a bit, which we're grateful for. But I was really upset. When I talked to the contractors, they put in the claim, and then they were waiting for an approval. So I was calling American Home Shield to see what was going on. I called six times, there was no way to leave a message and it just said, "Your hold time is over an hour." That needs to be fixed.
If you can't at least leave a message, and then it says “chats available” and you hit the chat, and then it goes away and says, “No, you have to call.” So that was pretty upsetting. I spent a whole day on the phone and the only way I got a hold of them was when they emailed me that there was gonna be an additional cost. Then that was a separate number and they answered right away for that. But if you're just trying to find out what's going on with the claim, it’s ridiculous. But the service of AHS has been good. They've fixed some things, but every time we've had a claim, we've had an issue. Financially-wise, it's been great because my father has had some things replaced. It was just like pulling teeth getting it done.

We submitted a claim online with AHS because one of the stove burners was busted, so the electricity doesn’t heat. The heating element was broken. While I was on the website of AHS, they told me that GE was notified and I would get the guy to come tomorrow. GE is the best company which was associated with American Home Shield. It’s top-of-the-line. The technician did whatever he promised. He came the following Friday, came back and replaced the broken parts. Everything is working fine so far. It allowed us to prepare food a little bit faster because one of the stove eyes was missing. So, we're using only two heating elements instead of four.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Through the years, American Home Shield has always been pretty responsive. I've never really had an issue with the company themselves. There has been one or two unscrupulous contractors through the time but besides that, I've been pretty happy. I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and although we had a gap of 18 months when I changed warranty companies for a year, I came back because I've really never had a problem with American Home Shield where something wasn't covered or with them playing the game. I had Aquamaid come by recently and the technician was great. In fact, he was almost too great. Three hours after I put in the work order, he was knocking on my door. Sometimes, that process takes about 24 hours but sometimes it can take a few days. It depends.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

The air conditioning stopped cooling. It was extremely easy to set up the appointment online, and within seconds, AHS sent me the name of the company that they were going to have come out. I just called them and made an appointment. The technician from Moore Air gave me a window of 10:00 to 2:00 and he showed up at 10:03. It took him about 10 minutes to fix it. It was a small repair and it has worked perfectly ever since. In the past, I heard horror stories about some home warranty companies, but that was definitely not my experience or impression. I've had coverage since April 1st when we took possession of the house and it worked out great. In fact, I’m thinking about extending it for another year.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Last year in October, our central heating air went out. We contacted American Home Shield and they sent out a contractor. The tech put in a new unit and took everything out of the unit that’s inside the house left lying on my kitchen floor. We went all winter and there was no heat. We had to heat with wood this winter. And we had to run the stove in the kitchen just to get two rooms warm enough that we could stay in the house. We were without everything from October to May.
I kept calling American Home Shield and they kept wanting to send back the contractor from Greenville South Carolina down here. They kept wanting to send the same guy back and I kept telling them that I didn't want him. He was drunk and I have children here. He could not stand up and could hardly talk. He said he could not do it that day because he was too sick and he would be back in the morning. He never showed up. He’s calling me and saying he would be here in the morning but he never showed up. He wouldn't answer his phone and he wouldn't respond back to American Home Shield when they would send him a text or email. He would not respond to me either.
I called in January. It was the same guy and he still didn't come back. I called in April. The guy still never came back so I called again. I told American Home Shield not to send the same guy and to send me a new one. They sent me A-1 Construction. Within 24 hours, the tech called me and said what day he would be here. Two or three days later, he showed up. Within15 minutes, he had my heat and air fixed.
We had to get a certified electrician to come in and put the blower motor in because the first guy just left it all over my utility floor. The unit still would not work right. When the guy from A-1 Construction came, he said it was an operator error if the first guy didn't turn the valves right and left them open. The unit wasn't blowing any Freon out when they finally got it fixed in April. It was not blowing cold on our air. He went out and checked it. And the guy who had put all this Freon in the unit didn't turn the valves so all the Freon was gone. When he came, we didn't have any air either.
My husband has COPD and I have chronic asthma. Our little girl has asthma too. There was no way we would been able to make it through those months if that guy from A-1 Construction hadn’t come and fixed the unit. He did a great job. I would recommend American Home Shield because they were good to me and they were very prompt. They did a great job. The only problem is we couldn’t get the contractor to come out. He would not take care of his problem. I was very upset because I paid my deductible in January. It was not a whole lot but I never got the service call. I had to pay in April again for a service call that I never got. That was $150 plus waiting.

I have had AHS for several years and have used them multiple times with good results. This time I called about a non functioning refrigerator. It took 2 weeks to get a repairman (Greenway Home Services) to come out. He evaluated it and was able to determine the evaporator had gone out. He said it would take up to 5 business days to get the part and they would call me to schedule the repair. Two weeks later I had still had not been contacted by anyone. I called Greenway and was informed that the part was not available and they had notified AHS over a week ago and they should have contacted us by now. When I called AHS I was on hold over an hour. When the representative answered I explained what was going on and asked why I had not been contacted. He told me AHS had not received any notifications on my repair. He then pulled up my account. I had thought he already had it up, otherwise how did he know he had not received any notification?
When he pulled it up, he said yes it looks like I was going to go through the replacement and that would be handled by a different department. He said he would transfer me but gave me the direct number in case I got disconnected. It was a good thing because we were disconnected. I called the direct number and was on hold almost 3 hours and no one ever picked up. I have called the customer service number back several time and selected the option for a call back and have never received a call. Again I am on hold and so far it's been almost an hour and no one is picking up! I will paste this on every review site I can find until I get resolution. The fridge has been out over a month!!
Are you still in need of assistance?

I submitted a repair service on my washer and they responded quickly to schedule as well as the technician which unfortunately he said the machine is not fixable. I contacted the company and the first day it took me an hour to talk to an agent to find out the status who passed me to appliance dept, on hold for 1 hour and 45 min but can't be waiting for all day. Tried again today 16 Jul but no luck in talking to an agent who's suppose to give more info on the resolution. Seems like customer service is not really important to this issue. Still on hold By the way, the tech that attempted to fix is outstanding!
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Do not use this company. Horrible service and they find a way out of paying anyways. A/c broke, I called them they sent out a guy and he "fixed" the problem. 5 weeks later ac breaks again. I call a a/c guy he comes out says the first guy did a bad job. Call American Home Shield, wait on hold for over a hour, no joke, not exaggerating. Finally they tell me to call first a/c guy. He comes tells me it is his fault but I need to pay for a electrician to come out. Call American Home shield and pay another 75 bucks for a electrician to come out.
The electrician company calls me and tells me they have no space for the rest of the month. Now I need to cancel the request to get my 75 bucks back....guess what, have to wait for another hour plus. By the way the first time the a/c guy came out the total cost was 1700 and "the Shield" covered about 300. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM PLEASE. It has been so bad I made a account on this page just to leave a review.

I have been an AHS client for more than 10 years and have used them three four times for repair on A/C appliance etc. It has been okay so far but I am 100% frustrated with my latest encounter. Created a service request on Jun-25 for an issue with the refrigerator. AHS assigned WOODARD MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS as the contractor. They never called. I tried to call them multiple times using the number shown on AHS website, but never answered and sometimes it says they cannot take a message. I have left messages whenever I could. It is July-15th and my refrigerator is still broken. Thank god I have a second one in the garage and no one in the household is on a prescription that requires refrigeration.
At this point I doubt WOODARD is even a legitimate business. I called AHS two times. Each time you have to call it is a two hour wait and if you are working better take half a day off. First Call: The associate tried to contact WOODARD in conference and failed. Said they will contact by mail and let me know the status. Nothing on two weeks.
Second Call: Same calling in conference etc. and mailing them for status and letting me know offline. This time I insisted that I need the contractor changed since WOODARD is not responding for so long. She said she cannot do that. I insisted on it and said I either want contractor changed or cancel the warranty altogether. She put me on hold for some time and then came back and congratulated me on a successful contractor change and the new contractor is going to call me in 48 hours.
It has been 48 hours past and the second contractor never called. I checked online at AHS service order and it still shows WOODARD as the contractor. Meaning AHS either lied or contractor change is not viewable through website so me calling the contractor is out of question. My mistake I did not ask the associate name on both calls and did not ask for information on second contractor on the second call.
I am on my third call and it's been 93 minutes and counting on the hold music. I will try to hold on for two hours and disconnect if I do not get an answer. I am planning to call someone tomorrow to come and take a look at it outside AHS. I don't have infinite amount of PTO to keep calling AHS. Also, wondering what good is the warranty if this the case. I was promptly charged for the service by AHS on June-25th itself. The only way to handle this is call and hold on for 2+ hours. No email, no provision on the website. That is primarily the reason I am using this review to talk about it as well.

Never ever buy this product, unless you have hours to wait on the phone to talk to someone for a problem that never will be fixed. My refrigerator broke and I’m still 35 days now without. I know it's hard to believe! This company is a joke and their people are trained to make fun of you and lie to you on the phone all the time. Horrible, they even said the parts for my fridge was order 3 times but was a company policy they couldn’t give me a tracking number, what a liars. So now 35 days without fridge, fighting for a replacement even after the technician said they dont make the parts anymore and they Never ever bother to call you to check you ok. Please dont buy this if you love your family.

I was going through stuff because I had a flood in my house and we were trying to fix things. I was going through my mail and I just happened to get an advertisement from American Home Shield. I said that I needed to do this because things keeps happening to me. There were other options but that particular email came through so I signed up with them. I put two calls in and I had one good experience in the same call. Sun Powered Solutions came out for the air conditioning and they were awesome. They stayed with it until they found the issue and they fixed it. They were very good and pleasant to work with. They were just perfect. The reps were polite when they came in and they had their protective gear on and both of them wore a mask. It wasn't an easy fix but the guy was determined to make sure to fix it. He went through everything and took about an hour just to find the leak in my air conditioner.
The other people that I had acted like they couldn't find it. It was new and they wanted me to buy a whole new system. I said that I can't buy a new system every three years. That doesn't make any sense. The guy from Sun Powered said that he doesn’t know where the leak was but he was gonna find it and he did. So, I appreciate the time they took to find it and they did an amazing job. It was very hot but they stayed with it. Sun Powered is the only reason why I'm with AHS because I did get good service on one of the people. So, let me not just quit.
On the other hand, I had a washing machine that was making so much noise and AHS told me that as long as it was working, it didn't need to be fixed. If you put something in the washing machine and when it gets to spin, you just wanna go outside. It's so loud. My clothes are clean but with that noise, at some point something is going to break. I just got over a flood and that was devastating to me. So now, I'm really careful. If anything happened, I address it. If the toilet looks like it's gonna go over, I'll plunger it one time. If it does it again, somebody has to come and check to see why it’s doing it. But it's not like that with AHS. Also, I pay the $100 upfront. I told the lady that took the call what was wrong with the washing machine. I said that I'm still able to use it but it's making this noise. She should have told me that it was not covered instead of taking my $100.

I've always believed in a home warranty because it definitely protects you from those big, unexpected issues that come up and I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. The coverage has been good. Usually, I don't have a whole lot of issues but when I do, they take care of it. That's all I expect. It took the air conditioning company about three days before they could come. Then when they came, they had to order a part. They came two days later. So it was uncomfortable but it was what it was. That was fine. Then it was the same thing with the dryer guy from TBL Appliance Services. He came and didn't have the part so he had to order a part and come back the next week. But he also tested the microwave and it was actually working. He said I would have to wait for it to break or stop working again. But it's been working fine. The contractors who came out were very professional. They did their job and got out.

The faucet was leaking in the kitchen sink and it needed a replacement. It was a gooseneck faucet so it was complicated. The contractor who came out fixed the issue but initially, when he got off, he wasn't wearing a mask. My wife had to tell him at the door to wear his mask. He said okay, went back to his truck and got it. Once he was inside, he wasn't wearing it properly. He was just covering his mouth and not his nostrils. For it to be effective, it has to be covering both orifices and then, once he was underneath the sink, he took it off.
My family hasn't gone out or left the house in three months and I'm the only one that has left the house to work. So we're very observant when it comes down to things like that. After he left, my wife put a bunch of Lysol aerosol out to feel safe again. With everything that's been going on nowadays, you would expect everybody to be considerate. If you're gonna go into someone else's home, make sure you wear your PPE. He did get the job done and nothing happened but I wish he could've been a little bit more careful and conscientious of that. We’ve had American Home Shield for 12 years and I like it. I'm very happy and I'm satisfied. I can count the times I’ve used it with the fingers on my hand but it's a good security blanket to have and if it provides extra protection, it's worth it.

We bought our house in March and American Home Shield came with the home purchase. After my wife did the service request for our AC, World Class came out to check the unit. But it took American Home Shield a while to get a contractor out here. They didn't come right out like it said in the contract. It took four days for them to get out here. I had to go out and buy a window unit just to keep the house cool. The technician was nice though.
We had to get a new unit but American Home Shield didn't do that replacement. They said the unit we had was too small for the house and that was why it was having problems. Otherwise, everything was running properly. When the inspector looked at the house, they didn't notice it was a two-ton unit inside and a two and a half-ton unit outside. I won't renew my policy with American Home Shield. Even if the unit was not the right one for the house, I would think they would have done something for us since it was under warranty and we were sold the house with that protection.

All the things I've had to have done around here have been okay with the exception of the air conditioning issue I had. I went without air conditioning for two weeks and 90-degree heat because I couldn't get anyone to listen to me to switch it to another company. I don't understand why the reps don't listen. I feel like they listen to the contractors more than they do the person that's paying for the call. That was very frustrating. They were all pre-programmed saying they would call the contractor and check. They would then tell me that the company said that they were gonna try and come out within the next 24 hours. It was a nightmare.
The company was lying to them, telling them they were coming out and they weren't. I had to call American Home Shield every single day for two weeks and the last person I spoke with regarding that issue is the one that helped me. I finally got someone to listen to me. Other than that one experience, American Home Shield has been okay. On my most recent claim, my hose bibs outside were both leaking. The guy had to order a part and then he replaced the parts in it.

I’ve been having American Home Shield for years. I got them back in 1989 and they've been good to me. When I request for service, I call them and I tell them that I'm having problems with a such and such appliance. The rep will then ask me what it's doing, and I tell them. They will then submit an email to the technician and they will also give me their telephone number for me to call. After that, they will tell me that they had already sent an email and I should be hearing from the technician. If I have any other questions, I give American Home Shield a call back and so far, I've been doing good with the contractors that come out apart from Fast Response.
I had a problem with them. Josh (a technician) came out here last year, and he came out three times. I told the company to send someone out who had more experience than he did the next time he came back out here. That's because when I try to call American Home Shield and if it's past 30 days, I have to pay another $80. Anyway, American Home Shield fixed what they had to fix on the third trip and then I was told that I would have to pay for Freon because they don't pay for it. I needed five and a half pounds. I had to wait till I got my income tax and when I did, I got it fixed.
Recently, I submitted service requests for the refrigerator, then the air conditioner again and the last thing, the dryer. So much was going on and I wonder if American Home Shield is going to get rid of me 'cause too much stuff was breaking down on me. I'm not doing this on purpose though. I bought a brand-new refrigerator. It was marked down when I bought it and I was having problems with it quite a bit. Four months ago, they replaced that. The dryer was messing up as well and when Big Ten Appliance Services came out for that, they did good. The guy looked and he told me that several things were wrong with it. He then told me that it had to be replaced and they replaced it. Two days in between, I had Fast Response come out and do the air conditioner.
When I put air conditioner on, I would have a problem with the air coming out. It would come out, but it's low. I called in June and then Fast Response sent Nate out. That technician told me that my air conditioner was over 30 years old and that parts would have to be replaced. He then went out there and fixed a couple of things that was wrong with it, and then he advised me that I would have to get a new unit. I had to get a loan from Telhio to buy a new air conditioner and it was 4,000 and some change.
When I went on my account that amount came out, but Fast Response was just going by what their mouth was saying. It could've been 2,800. I don't know. I called Fast Response and I asked them for a receipt. The first person I talked to, Ashley, said she was going to send it to me ‘cause they already had my email. I called back the same day and another operator answered the phone. She took the time to listen to me and said my receipt was going to come from someone else. It would then come to them, and then she would send it out to me. However, I haven't gotten that receipt yet.

I went online to submit the order and the website was very user-friendly. They responded right away as well. I was trying to do the claim both online and over the phone and it's hard to get through on the phone. It's a long wait period. It was quicker through the website. I was also given a notice immediately that a contractor would be notifying me. I got a text, an email, or both. Total Air Care came and the guy was very good.
Initially, my air cut off, and then it came back on. I poured some bleach down the pipe, but that pipe is not the one that was clogged up. The guy told me what was going on and he was able to come in and fix it right away. He had to cut a line and somehow the thing is horizontal, but he worked it. It works great still. I haven't had any issues since. He also cleaned up whatever he was doing. Another thing is that I was in the middle of training and he was very respectful of that. He didn't want to make a noise with the cutting saw while I was on the phone because it's right in short distance of where I was working.
I also had a plumber come out this last week and so far, contact via the website has been very good. However, I had a question and I was trying to call, but I couldn't get through. It's either my phone or Home Shield's phone would get through to a certain point, and then it would hang up on me while I was talking to someone. The call hung up when they called me back as well. Still, that was last week. It could be fixed this week.

I've been with American Home Shield for five years now and things have gone amazingly well. They respond within a reasonable time and their technicians are very good. Recently, I submitted a claim to them for my Whirlpool refrigerator that was broken and they sent Bennett Appliance. I told the tech from there that unless he was completely safe with gloves and a mask, I can't let him in.
The techs came with masks and stayed their distance. There was six feet between us the whole time they were here. The techs were very conscious of it which I appreciated. They put in a filter contraption on my refrigerator but then both the tech and I failed to check the light that alarms us when the filter needs to be replaced. I tried to restart that but it won't get off of red so I don't know whether the filter is working or not. So, I've been meaning to call Home Shield back. Despite this issue, Home Shield makes sure that their techs are covered as well especially with Coronavirus around. I offered them bottled water and the tech told me that they were prepared and had some in their truck.

The water heater was the first claim with American Home Shield I ever made and I was pretty disappointed. It was very disheartening because the inspector came out and said that my water heater was a fire hazard. It was 26 years old. I was scared to death every day that my house was gonna catch on fire after they said that. But it took AHS a week to actually schedule a service. The contractor, Bestway, was ready to come out as soon as they could, but I couldn't get in touch with American Home Shield. I was on the phone for over an hour three times.
Bestway Mechanical came out for the water heater claim. I felt a little uncomfortable because the technician came by himself. He needed someone here to help him. He's a little rough around the edges, but he's a nice guy. He installed the water heater, but it had a big dent in it. So, he had to get another one and install it the next day. But he did it.
American Home Shield advertises that everything is covered, 100%. So I was really disappointed because there was actually $650 that I ended up paying for, which was just ridiculous. You can almost buy a water heater for that from what I had been told. I felt very ripped off. I'm in the process of moving and I will not be using them after I move.

The original issue with the claim with Expert Pools was that the motor was not working on the pump. My wife submitted the claim and it seemed to be pretty easy and seamless for her. The contractor was out within two days and they were excellent. They put in a new motor. We did have a slight issue with some water leaking underneath, but we recalled. They came out within a couple of days and fixed it right away so everything else has been perfect. This is our second home where we used American Home Shield. We had a lot of other options to choose from but we decided to go with American Home Shield because of the great service and responsiveness we had in the past.

Complete Home Services was excellent. They responded right away. The tech was out the very next morning and was able to take care of the issue too, right away. He was in and out. I had a great experience with him. We had another guy come out the first year we lived here for an AC unit, and it was very painful. We had to chase them a lot and there was no response from them. We also had a second vendor, and they came on time. It just ended up being whatever had to be repaired wasn't covered. This time though, it was a very quick response. The tech was actually early and he was really easy to work with and get in touch with.

The hot water heater was leaking and it was not repaired the same day because the plumber had to get a hot water heater and it was late in the day. He had to come back the next day. The water heater seems to be working fine now but I don't wanna use that contractor, Jaime Avellino Plumbing, again. Although the plumber's attitude was okay, it was like he was angry that he had to do it.
American Home Shield is also hard to get in touch with most of the time. You have to go through a computer voice and then they would tell you to call the people they assigned to the case and find out when they're coming. But I'm a customer. I don't wanna do someone's business for them. Then when the contractor calls and says they would be out there between 1:00 and 6:00 or 3:00 and 8:00, I think they need to narrow down their time span. But I realize that some jobs take longer than others. Aside from that, they have also been known not to call the right numbers when I give them that information. I had an ordeal the other day where they called me and said they couldn't get anybody at this number. But they had been trying to call the number of the gentleman that passed away three years ago even though I gave them the appropriate name and number to call.
On top of that, I'm a little upset right now because I've got another case right now for the same house and it has taken over a week for the contractor to get back out there because they got there late and they didn't have time to work on it. Someone along the line is not doing their job to keep things progressing on a timely basis and that's inconvenient for me and for the tenant who lives in the house. She was always there when they called and said they would be over there in 20 minutes. The case that's still open for this house is a faucet in the kitchen that was leaking and a piping in the master bedroom shower that was leaking. The technician said, "I think the shower won't leak anymore, but I can't promise you." Then for the kitchen faucet, they said they've got to get a new faucet to put on there. Well, they waited until 6 o'clock to tell us that and then it still hasn't been repaired.
American Home Shield is not high-quality on my list. They need to work on their processes and their time frames. I also don't like that they don't respond within three hours. If you had an emergency, you're just stuck. The only reason I'm with American Home Shield is because number one, I've had them for several years. I've had the house rented since 2005 so I guess I've had them since 2005. Number two is that I'm a Realtor and I get a discount because of it. I've had experience with other warranty companies and they're not much better. So I'm staying with American Home Shield. But if they get under my skin, too bad, I'll find somebody else.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I was really surprised at how quickly American Home Shield responded to my request and how quickly the folks at Kelly got out here. Once I submitted the claim and it was approved, somebody from Kelly called the next day and set the appointment. It took two days for the whole thing to be done. It was the first time that I've had to use American Home Shield, even though I've had them for years. I heard some stories that were concerning. But my experience was fantastic.
The gentleman that came out was very professional and very knowledgeable. I had an RFI in my garage that went bad and it was causing several of our electrical socket to not work, so he replaced that. When he came in, he was covering himself because of the virus, so he was protecting us and himself. Once I let him in, he didn't even come inside the house. He went in and out of the garage. So I'm very, very pleased with Kelly and with the gentlemen that came out. Everything went well. It's been three weeks now and everything is working great.

I submitted a claim online to AHS because the dishwasher wasn't working. The website was good. I love the company that came. Some of the companies are lousy, but Mr. Appliance is the best. He fixed our dishwasher. However, I don't like being on hold for three hours trying to talk to somebody at American Home Shield. I understand it's COVID, but that's ridiculous. It was like that before it was COVID. I'd be waiting for at least an hour, and usually, I have to fight with American Home Shield to get my claim paid and finished up. But since Mr. Appliance has been coming out, he's so good that I don't have to really do that. The other technicians that come out, they wanna do the cheapest job possible. Some of the companies AHS contracts with are lousy. Wish all the companies AHS contracted were like Mr. Appliance.
One time, the washing machine in Tucson was broken for six weeks. They finally told them my husband could replace it because they had these companies coming out that weren't returning the call. We called American Home Shield about four times with that, and on the phone for hours, and every time, "We have to have somebody else come back out." Finally, they said, "It's not fixable. The part's not orderable." So he was able to go get a washing machine.

American Home Shield sent Wilson's Appliance Repair out and they were not able to fix the problem. Whatever was wrong with it at first, the technician thought it was resolved. He put it in and then he checked it the same day and said, “No, no. Still not fixed.” When he called American Home Shield back, they said they were gonna replace the unit and that was what they did.
We also had a leak issue when we first moved into the house, and that was resolved as well. With everyone else going through COVID right now, it was a lengthy process as far as waiting on hold. But I understand they're probably on limited staff at this point. One time, I held on the phone for over 45 minutes. Other than that, I'd tell others to get AHS. It’s well worth every dime to get it. It’s already more than paid for itself in two claims.

American Home Shield is a very deceiving company. The company handles business very unprofessionally with longer hours of hold times and shorter hours of actual customer service. This company does not live up to their reputation. It really isn't a company that cares about customer interest. They care about renewal fees and the SAAS model of recurring business. As long as you buy their product and nothing goes wrong in your house, they see you and they treat you with the utmost respect. But with the first thing that goes wrong with your house, they would most most likely not help you or they would treat you with such disrespect, and then have you follow up with customers. Employees are subsidiaries that they use as vendors to treat you with utmost disrespect.
I use the company through them called Island Breeze. I had a tech service named Shawn, and he was very customer service friendly. I am the person that treats customer service as the number one priority. When the sales representative treats a customer with respect, honesty, and truly salesmanship of wanting to help solve a problem, I feel like that should be rewarded. Shawn treated me with the utmost respect. Because of this, I bought a product from him. I felt like that was what good salespeople do. So I bought an additional service. American Home Shield's efficiency of getting someone out here took me two days.

The dryer had some issues with the bin and it was something dealing with the sound. It started jumping and making all sorts of noise. The contractor did a great job and he was consistent. He left and had to come back with a part. He completed the job in one day. But I had some plumbing issues a few weeks ago. When you're putting your system in that's not working, it breaks it down and it's very quick and you can't say what's going on with the appliance or the system. I specifically spoke with the home office and told them what was going on with my plumbing but they sent out a one-man show.
I'm getting upset with the contractors that American Home Shield is using because they would come out but not necessarily do what they were supposed to do. They just wanna get the $75 fee and get a signature from the client to get paid. They're not interested in fixing the problem and I'm having an issue with that. If they're not gonna come out and take care of it, and I'm paying this with them every month, I should just call somebody, pay their regular fee and not have a warranty. I paid American Home Shield and I didn't like how the contractor serviced me. They left and I still have a backed up toilet coming in my tub. So, I got toilet wipes coming everywhere. This wasn’t right. I have elderly grandparents. I ended up calling somebody else and spending another $300 but this is what I pay a warranty for.
American Home Shield is good for certain people. It's good for my grandparents because they could have someone that can relieve the stress and not be concerned about whether or not something is gonna get fixed. So, it's more of a mental thing for them to just be comfortable. But when it comes down to whether or not something is gonna be repaired, if it were not for me and my dad, and being able to get on the computer and looking up items that need to be replaced, I don't think that half of the things that got done in here would have gotten done. Because I literally had to call and get item numbers. I had to find appliances that matched the standard that we already had. We would not have been successful with that if it were not for us having internet access and being able to work a computer.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

We had American Home Shield before and we got the policy again. It was super easy when we made a service request and they had Redeemed Heating and Cooling assigned to the claim. The tech was excellent. But the fix kinda took a little longer than we thought it would because they would fix one thing then find out that there was something else going on. That was amazing because they had great problem-solving skills to identify what the problems were and fix them. Also, it is corona time so ordering parts for our system took a little bit of time. Their service was amazing though. They took the time to explain to us what they were doing every time that they came. They had to come a couple of times and that was a great experience because we felt in control of what was happening. I'm extremely satisfied.

The pump was not working on the pool and Alfred tried to work on it and it ran for a while the first time. When the repairman finally showed up, it was running. Now, it's not working again so I told Alfred not to touch it. But the problem that we always have with Spa and Pool Specialists is that we have to wait so long, even before the pandemic. It takes weeks for the guy to come out. First, he said he was booked for five weeks. Then he said that he would squeeze me in on Monday. So now, we have to wait until Monday. I also have a feeling that he's not gonna be able to repair this.
I'm not happy with the wait time. I was told that it was because of the pandemic, but that shouldn't have anything to do with them making appointments and coming out. If so, Home Shield should hire more people but they said that this is the only company that services this area. They need to have two pool people ‘cause it's very frustrating when I have to wait so long for the repair guy to come out. The most recent one we had over was the plumber and he was okay. It was just the pool stuff that got me very frustrated.

This is our third home that we've had American Home Shield on and their process on submitting claims is better than it used to be. We’ve been with them for over 25 years. We’ve also had other home warranties and they are crap compared to American Home Shield, so we just stick with them. Every contractor that has ever come out and has been sent by American Home Shield has always been very polite, neat and timely. They're here when they say they're gonna be here and they fix the problem. You never could catch American Home Shield on the phone though. You'd have a 30-minute wait.
One time, I had a stopped up toilet. I did an order online and they had that fixed. APC then came out because my toilet tank was leaking, but the claim was attributed to the other plumbing issue. When APC got the order, American Home Shield had given them the order for the stopped up toilet, which was a couple of weeks earlier. I had to resubmit a new work order and then it took them two days to get out here for scheduling to get out to do the leaking problem. Apart from that, there hasn't been a problem with either issues since.

C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came out recently and their service was awful. The tech came out, and for whatever reason, he did not finish everything that was on the repair sheet and it wasn’t but one item and that was the kitchen faucet. It needed to be replaced. They took a week to call me and ask me if I had a problem with the faucet that they had selected. I called American Home Shield and they asked me to hold on as they called C Mayes to find out what the problem was. Only then they called them and asked them why had they not gotten back in contact with me because when the tech was here, he initially said that he was gonna order the faucet and they were gonna get back with me.
That took about three weeks to do. I clearly told them before that I was flying out. I needed the work done in a timely manner and he misled me to believe that they were gonna get right on top of it. Then when I called them back out, American Home Shield told them to call me within 48 hours. That didn’t take place. When they did call me, the service tech that came out to bring the faucet had no clue that he was supposed to repair everything that was on the first prior order as well as replacing the faucet. He called them and they said, “Okay, if you don’t do it, she’s gonna complain again, so go ahead and fix it,” when all they had to do was say, “Hey, all the orders were not completed and let’s make this right because she’s already called and she’s already stressed that she wasn’t satisfied with our service and we know we dropped the ball. So let’s get it right.”
I did not like their mannerism. They were not professional. The techs were professional when they came to the house. However, they should have completed everything. I have no problem with American Home Shield. They don’t do the work. They vend the work out to vendors. I’m very happy because they did not deny me any type of service. The first company that came out, I used them three times. The last guy that came out to fix my air conditioner days ago knew what he was doing. He came out and he rectified the problem and that was it. The first guy fixed my washing machine. He came out. He fixed it, and that was it. Overall, I love American Home Shield. I love their service. We definitely recommend them. I went online and placed my repair ticket on Saturday and right away, a company called in like less than half an hour. They came right out that same day. So, that’s excellent customer service.

I had an appliance issue and American Home Shield sent out Sears. Everything went very well. It was much better than the last time we had a problem with our Sears refrigerator, which was fairly new. Before, they had to order a new compressor and it took three months to get it. We were living out of ice chest for three months. It wasn't their fault that they couldn't get any compressor because there were so many of them breaking down. But with my appliance issue, the tech happened to have one in his truck this time and it was compatible with another board that was already in that refrigerator. He got it fixed and back in business.
It's easy to get a claim going with American Home Shield. Everybody got back to me right away and it worked out very well. Their service was great. It was much better than when I was with First American. I had a water heater that sprung a leak. We didn't know it ruined the carpet in one of the bedrooms, which wasn't their problem but replacing the water heater was. But First American's contracted plumber came out of Fresno.
We live up in the mountains and there are several of us up here with First American. Every once in a while somebody says something about it. I said I was gonna get out of that deal. Also, when the contractor came up for our water heater, they gave us a bid instead of just replacing the unit. They said they would have to bring everything up to code and that they would have to redo the wiring. But there was no reason to do that. The house is only 12 years old. It would have cost us about $1300 on top of it. They would replace the water heater but we would have to pay the contractor $1500 extra. It was kind of a racket. I told the contractor, "So you guys don't make much money coming up here in the mountains to fix the water heater. So you're gonna get all this other work laid on there so you'll make some money." The guy replied, "You didn't hear from me but yeah, that's what's going on."
The buyout was if we didn't wanna use First American to do the job, they would pay us $435 for a water heater because that was what they would have to pay for anyway. We went that way just because. But I still had to hire a local plumber for $200 to put the water heater in. He said they didn't have to bring this stuff up to code. We have two water heaters in the house and about six months later, the other one started leaking. I called First American and told them that I knew I was not gonna want to use them again. I was just letting them know this was what had happened and that last time, that was bad. They said I was right and that nothing had changed. I told them I was just gonna go buy the water heater. I called my local plumber to put it in. They sent me the $435.
That was why I went with American Home Shield. I switched and I feel really good. When I talked to the sales gal when I first switched and she kind of asked me, I asked, "If I sign up with you guys and I lose the water heater, how would you handle that?" She told me and it was 100% different. I felt a little more confident. I was not jumping out of the frying pan and into a fire. I'm really happy with what has happened with American Home Shield as well as their service. I'm not one that wants to use insurance. But we kind of start thinking like what would happen if the air conditioning unit breaks and it would be 3000 bucks. We are at an age, we're retired, and we got a lot of places to spend money. I have recommended American Home Shield to other people that have asked.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

The guy from Legacy Appliance was great. I had no problems with what he did but we have a Samsung refrigerator that has a defect in it and he wasn’t allowed to fix it. He said we were gonna get a letter from American Home Shield so that we could take it to Samsung. But we haven’t gotten it yet and it's been a couple of weeks now. It’s a defect in the icemaker. They didn’t insulate it properly and the whole thing freezes up and it’s frozen still. It was an engineering defect and there’s really nothing the tech could do about it. No one told us that it wouldn't be covered. It was kind of a surprise when the tech got here.
I love the service with American Home Shield. It’s convenient to know that you can call and get something repaired easily. It’s a good deal. But they should list off a refrigerator that they know has a defect issue, and before sending a technician, they should have sent an e-mail questioning more in-depth whether it was gonna waste my 75 bucks. I was frustrated at having to pay $75 when they couldn’t fix my refrigerator.

John Broussard Appliance was good. The guy came in for my stove and he went to the stove and the microwave and he said we needed new parts if he could get them. If not, we'd get a new stove and a new microwave. We waited 10 days and we could not get the parts because the stove was too old. So he got a new stove and we're getting our new microwave tomorrow.
I did my claim with American Home Shield online. I thought it was a $100 deductible for each and every item that you needed, but you can put four items. There was a little thing in my dishwasher that needed to be corrected, but I didn't put it down because I didn't think it was worth $100. Also, I told them over and over again that I needed local contractors to do the work. After the first plumbing incident from King's Plumbing, it was hard to get in touch with them. And they came from out of town. They came, they did whatever they needed to do but the guy didn't do what he was told to do. We called him back and we couldn't get in touch with him for about another 10 days. I paid another $100 the second time around for him to come, but he never did come. After 10 days, I cancelled it. It was a plumbing issue.
So, I told them I want local people and that I also need a refund. I did everything to get the refund, I still haven't seen it yet. I can't contact American Home Shield because of the COVID. You have to wait 35 to 45 minutes on the phone for them to even answer. I don't have that kind of time to stay on the phone that long. But they were so nice when I first talked to them last year. Also, I did get a new stove and microwave. They fixed everything, too.

The contractor that came recently for our claim was very courteous. He's a young guy, energetic and he did a good job. But according to them, AHS said they were there for only one item. So, they said they could not fix the others. I called AHS and they sent them another message. The contractors went back and fixed everything. Now, my problem is it takes me 50 minutes to get a hold of customer service there at AHS.

There are three AC units here and there are several claims involving different ones. The only people we want to work on it is Quantum from AHS and it's always the same technician, Henry. The first one was an issue with a breaker box and so, we called Quantum. Henry checked out the compressor and everything while I was here.
The next one was regarding a secondary drain. When you have hot and cold with metal involved, it drips off water. For example, when we run the air conditioner upstairs, the excess water is drained through the primary drain that goes down into the plumbing system and out to wherever the plumbing system goes. Henry recommended that to not have this problem anymore where it leaks badly is to put in these little float switches which are inexpensive little devices that you can buy on Amazon. He even told me how to do it and how to wire them in. I'd rather not mix water and electricity so I paid him 125 bucks to come out and put all three of them in three different units. But that wasn't AHS.
The next time, a different unit just quit working and we couldn't figure it out ourselves. Henry came out and he discovered a fuse that had blown which was a little tiny automotive type 5-amp fuse. The system won't run without it and he showed it to me. He replaced that and he said that it shouldn't be blowing these ever, but if it ever does again, to call them back so they can come out and research the thing and try to figure out what's wrong with it. That was the last time he was out and then, we put another call in because we had seen a water stain in the ceiling but I cancelled that because there was no reason air conditioning would be leaking there. That's a plumbing issue.
We've had no problems with Quantum. AHS had assigned our work to somebody else but I told them that I didn't want anybody except the guy we're used to, Henry from Quantum. If he says he'll be here, he'll be here. It's always on the same day. They're in this area on Thursday and we know how to deal with him. He was very helpful. He explained what was wrong with the system, why it was doing what it was doing and how to avoid problems in the future. Everything's perfect.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

The outside unit of the air conditioner was not working. The issue was with some sort of heat recovery board. The tech from Hansen Mechanical didn't have the part but he was able to jump it until he got the part. Then they came back about a week and a half later and put the part in. It didn't take them too long to change out the one part and then they got it going again. They did good work. The unit has been doing very well. In fact, after the tech jumped it, it worked great. The only problem I've ever had with Hansen Mechanical is when I tried to call them, they have an answering service and they were a little slow getting back. But other than that, it was fine and they were very responsive.

The contractor is still trying to fix the icemaker on my refrigerator. They can't figure out what's going on with it. It's something with the electrical system. They’ve called the manufacturer but they still haven't been able to get it done. They were here yesterday and they said to give it 24 hours for the program to re-cycle. But I called them again today because it's not working. Other than that, it was easy to file the claim with AHS. I had one other claim with them for a garbage disposal and it was fixed within the day.

I had an issue with the dryer and I forgot I have Home Shield's service. I had a company come out and they inserted something in the dryer vent. I thought it was clean but when I connected my new LG dryer, it kept telling me that the sensor is sensing that the vent is not 100% clear. The dryer was turning off on its own. Then, I remembered that I have Home Shield so I decided to pay the $100-something and have one of their affiliates come out.
Two techs came and I told them even before they entered the house that I wanted to have the dryer vent cleaned. They didn't even bother to come in and they felt that I have the wrong person because their specialty was more heavy-duty, like if a vent is not working, they would rectify it or replace it. They said that they would call Home Shield and refer me to another person. I was switched on to this other person who came. He replaced the circuit board on the dryer but that didn't fix it because I still have the issue. But I can't get anybody from Home Shield's site, so I gave up on that. I got tired because I'm going around in circles. I am paying another company outside Home Shield.
I don't understand all the dynamics but I like Home Shield and I had a good experience with them. They fixed my fridge that had some very technical issues that needed dealing with, even though it took a while sending somebody from Sears. The first person that Home Shield sent out came in and looked at the problem. They said they couldn't fix it so they referred me to Sears. I've had the fridge for 16 years and they came in and did some high-level work. The fridge is still working. A friend recommended me to Home Shield and I can see benefits. It has saved me, especially with the fridge.

The hot water tank was leaking water and I told the rep from American Home Shield the problem that I had. Water was dripping through my ceiling and I didn’t know where it was coming from. It was coming down through a light and my wife saw it on the countertop. I went up in the attic and then, water was dripping on the outlet and the pipes that runs from the hot water tank pan to the outside of the house. So, the water was coming out of the pan. The contractor was professional and he got the job done. He drained the water tank first to make sure the water wasn’t too hot and overflowed. It could cause the ceiling to fall in if they hadn’t done that right. So they did everything right the first time and got me taken care of.
So far, I've been satisfied with AHS because I had First American for about two years, and I didn't need them for anything. Then finally when I needed them when it got hot last summer, they sent a tech out. Instead of them coming out to take care of my problem, the technician came out with a camera, took a picture and indicated that something I had done was wrong. It was some kinda wire hanging down but there was no wire hanging down. I keep an immaculate house. They did not fix the problem and it was hot in my house. I dropped them. My mom has had First American for years but I had bad service with them.

They do a really good job and they get people out immediately. They communicate by email who's gonna be coming out and when. I couldn't ask for anything more. I was a Realtor for a long time. My downstairs AC unit was not working. The thermostat showed that it was cooling but actually nothing was coming on. I put in a request over the web then the vendor called me and asked me what was going on. I told them about it and I also told them that the upstairs unit also stopped cooling. They said I had to go back to American Home Shield and tell them to put an additional order. I couldn't figure out a way of doing it except calling American Home Shield. When I called, I had to be on hold for over one hour before somebody would talk to me. Once I got somebody to talk to me, they added the work order. Unfortunately, the guy's truck broke down so they never came the day that they were supposed to. They called me and told me. We slept that night without AC.
They showed up the next day and told me what was wrong with the units. One of the units had the circuit board fried, and if he ordered that, I'm gonna have to wait for about a week to get here or I could replace the furnace and that could be done the next day. I chose to replace the furnace. On the other unit, he said that the one with the coils had lost Freon. American Home Shield gives a replacement for the coil thing, but pays $10 only for Freon per pound, and the actual cost for the Freon is like $50 a pound.
He said that in order to do the repair that American Home Shield would wanna do, he needed to wait for AHS to send them the unit, and then after they send it to him, then he could install it. If they send it to me, it's gonna cost me 1,200 bucks to install out of pocket. That's for the standard unit that American Home Shield sends. However, they can get a Trane one and that Trane would cost me $2,400 to install. He claimed that the unit is 14 years old so he recommended to go and replace both outside and inside units for the upstairs and that could be done the next day also so I chose to do that.

American Home Shield sent ABNation for a pool issue and that was probably one instance where they did a good job. I've had American Home Shield off and on for about 17 years. But I've had them for a while. The big problem with American Home Shield is that they take so long. If a hot water heater goes out, you need hot water. Last time it went out at my last house, it took like five days to get it corrected. Then I bought one up because the water heater that was in there was too big. It was a 50-gallon. So I had to go to a 40-gallon and they wouldn't pay for it because it wasn't the same. But it's cheaper. So that was just among others. This last time was an anomaly where I actually got a hold of them. I went online. I went ahead and took care of my work order, and I called the workmen back the next morning at 7:30. They were out within two hours and had it fixed. That was the fastest one I've ever had.
American Home Shield could use less automation and have more people helping you. Also, they've got a situation where they used subpar handymen. I just had to put $1200 of air conditioning repair on my air conditioner because I didn't wanna call them because the last couple times I had a problem. They were idiots. They didn't know anything about it. They were trying to sell me more stuff. I don't know if people don't wanna work for AHS, but it's just the people usually don't know what's going on. They need to improve their vetting of their trades.
Right now, I'm very unhappy because I've been a longtime customer, and they've raised me up to $92 a month. I was at $60. Now, I did add some extra stuff on there, but I think their rates have gotten expensive. That was why I switched before. But then I found when I did switch that the other company had problems too. So, it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. Compared to the other places that do home warranties, I've been with AHS off and on, but I always end up going back to them because they have less small print at the bottom of the contract. They're the best of the worst. The whole industry needs them.

Our AC stopped cooling on July 5 and I contacted American Home Shield for service that day. Temperatures are in the 90s and my husband is a disabled veteran and I am a heart patient. A technician from Cool Factory, Inc. did not come out to diagnose the problem until July 10, saying that it was the compressor and "the office will call you". No other explanations or what to expect next. Nothing in writing about the diagnosis or the next follow-up appointment. By July 13 when we had no further contact I called American Home Shield and was told that the technician had not yet submitted a diagnostic report, and this usually takes 24 to 48 hours after the home visit.
I was promised a follow-up call, but by July 15 there was no further contact. I was on hold for over an 1.5 hours to speak to an American home Shield representative. She told me that they still did not have a diagnostic report and she called the AC tech to get it while I was on the phone. She then said that it would take an additional 3 to 5 days to find parts and the repair would then have to be scheduled. We may not get our AC repaired this month! When you look at the customer reviews of these companies they are glowing, diagnostics in a day or two with a repair within the week. What a sham! We are elderly and at high medical risk for Covid 19. We are suffering in the heat and have nowhere safe to go in this pandemic.

The worst home warranty company. Our AC has been giving us trouble so we contacted AHS to help fix the issue, you know, considering we pay them an annual premium for this very service. They send someone over after a week - the contractors basically does nothing at all. We have since been trying to contact AHS for a month to help with issue and they have done absolutely nothing. When we call we are on hold for an average of an hour and then the call automatically hangs up. Keep in mind also that we are new parents with a 2 month old at home so we have no time at all. AHS has provided us no response at all. Isn't it fraud to collect annual premiums from customers and not provide a service?

I called to express my concern about my family being in a house over 85 degrees. I waited an 1.5hrs to get to a rep, explained my situation and asked for a better option. Rep was polite and understanding. Placed me on hold. 10mins later line disconnected... Called back waiting another 1.5hrs to get an answer, the Rep tells me there is nothing they can do. My service request has already been sent via the automated system. I asked if they could actually call other contractors to ask about their availability and was told no it has to be done via the computer generated system. I called a local contractor on another line and they had immediate availability. I asked if I could use them and be reimbursed. Again was told no the computer system already assigned a contractor.
I asked to speak with supervisor or someone that could do more than assign a computer claim. I was told several times there is no one else to talk to. I asked if they could provide me with a list of AHS authorized contractors and I would call around to see if anyone had better availability, again “no it’s all computer generated”. There has to be a more personalized way to establish contractors for services. I realize it’s summer and everyone is having issues but if I can call a well respected company and get service today why would you not honor that!? Provide better services. Still awaiting to see how the saga will continue once the tech can come out.

We had our HVAC unit go out and the person they had come out said they could replace the compressor OR the whole system. The compressor would be a temporary fix at best and only run at about 80% efficiency. He recommended to have it replaced, but since it could be fixed with just a compressor, that is all that AHS would cover. We went with another company to replace the system, because the original company that AHS works with was more expensive. AHS reps told us that we could get refunded the amount for just what the compressor replacement cost. We have submitted the paperwork 4 times, and spent over 6 hours talking to representatives. I called to cancel and the rep said to submit the paperwork and we could get the refund. I told the rep that the receipt and quote are for the full system and not just a compressor and that is why the cash back equivalent for a compressor was being denied.
He told me to go ahead and do it again. I submitted the paperwork and two weeks later I get a denial because a compressor is not specifically listed on the pricing of the full system. The cash equivalent they said we were approved for (originally) is only about 1/10 of what the system replacement cost. We weren't wanting the whole system covered, although that is what THEIR contractor said would be best, just the minimum. I'm done with the company. I spent more in a year for coverage for absolutely no reason. We would have saved money by not having AHS to start with.

We were assigned a company to come and do the re-key, but the company does not service our area. It has now been months of being told "we're trying to find a local company for you", waiting for phone calls back to have a local company approved to do this service, and being told "You can have someone local come and do it, but without approval, there's no guarantee that you'll receive reimbursement". There is no way to send an email to AHS to ask my questions or submit feedback, no one messages back on Facebook messenger, and phone call wait times are over an hour. Perhaps it's fitting that their initials are AHS. It coincides with the TV show American Horror Story, which is what it is like dealing with this company.

My bill is now $66 a month. I never received notice via email, text or mail. I searched each platform to cross check. I called the company and they say fees have gone up due to cost with parts. I’m confused because I wasn’t notified. I barely use the service. I only had 2 calls this year for minor issues. Why is it such a huge price increase? A few dollars I understand but almost $20. Not even a phone call.
Then the customer service representative tried to use scare tactics by telling me other companies use refurbished materials. I called 5 companies and they all said that was a lie. So now they are using unfair practices by lying to keep customers. Not ok with this practice. Now I feel like they have not been upfront and honest with anything they have said to me.

AHS is a complete scam. My water heater started to leak, they sent out a plumber, he said it needed to be replaced (26 years old), and simply noted that my property water pressure was 120 psi on the report and to conform to new building standards/plumbing codes they would have to install a PRV (Pressure Regulating Valve) to meet current codes. AHS blames the 120 psi for the leak on a 26-year-old water heater when on the front of the water heater it clearly states max operating pressure 150 psi. That would not make sense to anyone.
I disputed, they denied, I called back in, and a Michelle with AHS told me that she was going to get someone out that same day or first thing in the morning since it was still leaking over a week later! Nobody called, nobody came out, I waited 2 days, so I had to take matters into my own hands about 10 days after initially calling AHS. I had a plumber replace the water heater for $1,500, a fair price (I called around several contractors and most were between $1,500 and $2,000).
I sent an email to every AHS executive I could find on Linked In because I was not going to hold for an hour (average wait time of 4 calls into AHS). I sent the email the evening before my plumber was to replace the water heater. It apparently caught the attention of Holly ** who reached out with an email not copying everyone else. She told me that another plumber was going to be calling me. Roman's Rooter came out the morning my plumber was to replace the water heater, for an assessment. He told AHS the failed unit had nothing to do with the water pressure, it was just an old unit that needed to be replaced.
I requested reimbursement for the full $1500 spent to replace the water heater, and Holly **, Executive Relations, is now offering me only about a 1/3 of the cost ($581.41). She says it only costs them $581.41 to get one replaced. No plumber is going to purchase and install a water heater for $581.41. They would simply lose money. In fact, I talked with one of the local plumbers AHS uses and he let me know that is fake news.
They cover nothing! You cannot even get anyone on the phone unless you wait for over an hour. The person you get on the phone is from another country with broken english that has no supervisor to be transferred to. They cannot transfer you to anyone in the same country. They will do anything (delay, delay, false claims, delay, delay) just so they don't have to cover anything. It gets better too. I know several real estate agents, including the owner of one of San Diego's largest firms, who get treated very differently when they have claims at their personal residences. They have different avenues to take (through the sales rep), different phone numbers to call, and AHS does not dispute any of their claims because they sign up buyers left and right with the AHS scam. I would be simply embarrassed to say I worked for a company like AHS who could care less about their customers. AHS is useless.

Since it's always good to have something to fall back on if something goes wrong with a new house you buy, especially a house that was built in 1948, we got a home warranty. It was something that our Realtor made us aware of. Both of the Realtors helped us to get American Home Shield.
They had Hilliard Heating & Cooling come out when we were not getting the temperature right in our home. My wife did the claim for that as she handles calling for repairs and things like that. The tech was professional and nice. He tried several things. It was sort of like what could be the problem? He seemed very good. Our unit has been functioning very well since then.

I've had American Home Shield for several years. I call their service number and earlier on, I would speak with a person. Now, it's all using their system's artificial intelligence. I say what's wrong, they give the name of the service provider, and then, I get a call from the service provider to schedule an appointment. It's very simple and effective. Recently, our Viking microwave stopped working and I placed the service order. Arizona Value Appliance Repair came out and I thought their tech was the most professional service person around that I've ever seen. He did a great job and he was very efficient, on time, and clean. He left everything perfect.

I just bought my home six months ago and American Home Shield came with the house. I've had to use it three times and it’s been real easy. They set up an appointment with J & J Appliance Service for my refrigerator. Then, the contractor called me right away and set up an appointment. Their tech came out and he looked at it. It was great. He told me what was wrong with it. A computer board was out and he fixed it temporarily. He said to not put too much in it and then he came back the next week and fixed it when the part came in. But I don’t know whether I will continue AHS because it’s so expensive. It’s like $64 a month and I don’t use it that much and I don’t know that I’ll use it that much.

We've had AHS for eight years and they're better than some of the others. My only note is that they should make sure that they check the company and that they send out reputable companies to do the work. In the past sometimes, companies that aren't very reputable would be sent out. Then I have to call back and have it redone. Recently, our whirlpool, the jets, wasn't working in the bathtub. Plumb Genius came out and it was taken care of that day. It just happened to be a breaker switch that wasn't cutting on.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a refrigerator and freezer that was not working and someone called to tell me that they scheduled an appointment with their contractor. But then, the only time that their contractor could come was the coming Saturday so I had to wait three days. They told us they could go with GE Appliances to address my claim or they could go with Sears. I told them to do GE for the coming Saturday. However, I waited that coming Saturday and nobody came.
Nobody knew anything about it and AHS never confirmed my claim with GE. Home Shield was saying GE wasn't open and the number that they were trying to call was like a disconnected number. So they couldn't get through with anybody. But then, I was able to get through with the 800 number that they had supplied me and GE was open. Someone from AHS then helped me to schedule an appointment with GE for later that week. She told me that the first person I dealt with never got a confirmation number. The man who came from GE was wonderful. I lost my food by the time GE came but then AHS credited me $50. Despite the issues, I'm satisfied with AHS.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years or more and they’ve done some timely repairs in the beginning. The providers would be quick and they would call you within 24 hours. They would usually come out the next day. That was what it used to be like but over the last few years, it has gotten bad. They would come out but you would call them and the contractors that they work with might not call you back within 24 hours. They might call you back in 48 hours. Then, they might not come out on the day like it used to be. They might come out in two days. Also, they would normally have the parts on the truck before. But now, they usually don't have it and they would usually have to go back out and order the parts, and that may take another week for the part to show up. Then they have to try and schedule a time to come back out. It used to be a quick turnaround but it takes a while now for everything to happen.
It used to be that almost within 48 hours, everything would be taken care of. You call, they send the person out and they usually have the parts or whatever was needed. If you called on Monday, they would probably be there on Wednesday, and it gets resolved that day. If they order something, it would get resolved by Friday on a worst-case scenario. Now, it might take two weeks to get whatever resolved. In this case, it's something as simple as a microwave. It shorted out, and it has been six weeks and they still haven't gotten it fixed. But I'll just buy another microwave.
Before, they would pay for the sales or I could go buy the product myself or get somebody else to fix it. It was up to you, and you just call and they offer it. But now, that's the hassle. They would do it all at their discretion. The time to get stuff resolved, probably in the last three years, it has gotten bad. So whenever I get this last one cashed out and resolved, that'll be it for AHS. I’m probably gonna go to Old Republic.
Are you still in need of assistance?

ABNation came out and they were great. But they seemed more intent on figuring out how not to fix it than how to fix it under the warranty’s protection plan. They inspected the pool assembly and the main booster pump wasn’t working correctly. They said that due to the lack of a GFI breaker on the control panel, that American Home Shield will not honor the warranty claim. They offered a $889 estimate to repair the pump. Once I heard that, I told them if American Home Shield was not gonna honor the claim, then I had a pool service with folks that were prepared to do the work and they will replace the breaker. So I just went with them.
When I submitted the claim over the internet, the website was kinda hard to use. There are some other issues with the house that I hope to be able to resolve. But when I log in, the website is showing that the claim is complete, but my pump isn’t fixed. So this is strange. Also, I'd like to know what are the qualifiers or disqualifiers for the equipment that's under the insurance so that I know whether I’d even bother to make a claim or not.

The issue was resolved when a more seasoned plumber came out. He replaced the cartridge the right way and didn't have to cut through any walls. My husband said he fixed it within 5-10 minutes.
Original Review: July 15, 2020
I had a plumbing claim with AHS. The contractor came out and they said it needed a cartridge. The guy came back and put in the cartridge and he said it works but it didn't. He came back again and he put in a new cartridge but it still didn't work. He said he would have to replace the valve and cut through the wall. I asked for another opinion so another company came out and they said that it's the cartridge. The cartridge was bad and they're coming out to replace the cartridge. I'm hoping that it will work. If not, we'll have to go through the wall and replace the valve. Thank God we have another shower. It has been three months.
Also, we are in a location that's like 45 minutes from Bakersfield and AHS sends people in from Bakersfield. One company comes up once every other week. I'm thinking about switching because I've talked to other people that live in this area who have a different home warranty plan and they get much better service than what I've been getting. Another thing is that they like you to do everything online but you can't be specific online. It's very generic and there's no place to put exactly what the problem is so I would call and I would be on hold. The people are nice but I hate that I could be on hold for 45 minutes to an hour. It's ridiculous.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

But there were a lot of hoops to jump through with American Home Shield in regards to the pool and the whole process of getting that fixed was fairly frustrating. Our AC claim with American Home Shield where Air Majesty came out went very well. We had them to come back a second time on the same unit, but that wasn't something that they could have known was going to happen. The motor went out. They fixed it, and then the motor went out the second time. Jose was the technician that came out each time. He really does an excellent job. It was raining and he called me and asked if I would mind if he wouldn't come. I told him it was not a problem. So, he put it off for a day, and then he was right out here on it. We didn't have any problems with him. He turned out to be a very good and knowledgeable young guy. I will call them back again.
American Home Shield was right on point. I've had them since we purchased this house back in 2002, and they've been there the whole step of the way. I bought an older home about two months ago and with my older home came a home warranty with American Home Shield. The first time I engaged with American Home Shield, my air conditioning unit wasn't working. I didn't really know how to use your program, so I called and I waited on hold for 45 minutes to see if I could use my own HVAC contractor that I've known and trusted, is licensed, bonded, and insured forever. The AHS rep didn't really do a great job of telling me how or why I could not use my own contractor. So after circles and circles, I finally told them to send out one of their own contractors.
The rep set me up with this Rush Heating & Cooling. They came out and looked at my air conditioner. They said that I needed a new unit so I asked what I needed to do. They said that they needed to call American Home Shield and they needed to order the new unit, so they would be in touch. I asked what it would cost me but they said that AHS would call us which they did. AHS reached out to me and said that we would have to purchase some accessories. We would have to spend $150 on the coil and a $50 pad to go under. I'd have to go through Rush Heating & Cooling to purchase this stuff out-of-pocket for 200 bucks. I had inquired about maybe using my own contractor so I asked them what would that look like. Then the rep said that they would reimburse me $561 if I wanted to use my own guy. It was not going to cover anything. So I told them to go ahead and order it and l would use Rush Heating & Cooling.
A week and a half went by in the summer. I still had no unit and I got a survey sent to my phone asking me to rat the job completed with Rush Heating & Cooling through American Home Shield. They never followed up with me and they didn't complete my job. The last I heard, American Home Shield was ordering me a new unit. Rush Heating & Cooling called me five times in a row at 7:30 the next morning. The rep said that my job was completed was because American Home Shield told them that I wanted to cash out, which was not the case at all. In fact, when I talked to American Home Shield, the very lovely lady said that they would order the unit.
So I had to sign up for another service contractor to come out to my house. Every time this happens, I have to wait on hold with you guys for 45 minutes to do this. It was just a nightmare to figure out what was going on. But they said that they couldn't go back to Rush Heating & Cooling because they already closed it out. We needed to send somebody else out. I got Eagle Heating & Air.
So Eagle came out to my house and they said that they couldn't diagnose our unit because it was tampered with. Somebody was already out here which was right because it was Rush Heating & Cooling. They told me that I needed a new unit and they told me they were gonna come out and fix it when they got the new unit from American Home Shield. So then Eagle that they couldn't handle us and they closed it out. So I had to wait on hold with AHS for another 45 minutes to an hour.
AHS then sent out Crown, but you had tried to assure me that this was one of your premier vendors and their tech, no matter what, was gonna take care of me. I told them that Eagle said that they couldn't diagnose the unit because it had been tampered with from Rush Heating & Cooling. Then they said not to worry about it and that they would make sure that I was taken care of.
Crown came out. This was the third person I had out. He was able to diagnose the unit. He told me that I needed a new unit. And then he went to tell me that my warranty didn't cover any labor in an additional part. So the only thing that AHS would cover was the unit, but he told me it was going to cost roughly about $2,200 or $2,400. He then urged me to just go directly through him and I'd save 200 bucks. It didn't make sense. Rush Heating & Cooling, the first people that I had come out, told me I was only gonna have to pay just $200 for the stuff that wasn't covered in my policy, but that all my labor would be covered.
I looked up Crown Heating and Cooling and it sounded like he had been scamming people on American Home Shield warranty for a while. I told AHS that I didn't want to deal with him. But they said that the only option that I had was to cash out and use my own contractor because they were not sending me another contractor.
When I finally said that I’d cash out, AHS told me you’d give me $1,300 dollars instead of 561. I went ahead and I hired my own guy. I got the work performed and I would say that I'm very far from a satisfied customer because it was just abysmal. And the guy cost me $2,400 so I still had to spend out-of-pocket. But it was still cheaper than if I would have gone with this Crown Heating & Cooling and not cash out. I paid out-of-pocket rather than going through you guys because I filed this claim June 8 and I just got the original unit replaced last week. I couldn't do that anymore. We're in the middle of a super-hot summer. It was really bad.

Another time, I submitted a request for service on my AC. AHS, sent Fast Response Heating and the techs from there were really nice. I had a great experience with them. Currently, I'm scared to death that my original heater will die. I keep AHS so that if ever my heater goes, I'll have coverage. Unfortunately, it was on a weekend. So I ended up giving Ace Heating & Cooling a call ‘cause the AC was out and it was about 99 degrees here in Florida. I asked if they would be able to come out over the weekend. The tech was not able to come out on Saturday, but he was able to squeeze me in on Sunday for an additional fee on top of the $75 service fee through American Home Shield but it was worth it.
The capacitor on the fan motor blew. It was a normal AC problem here in Florida when it would get really hot and the air conditioner was running continuously. They replaced the capacitor. And it runs fine now. Overall, American Home Shield is good. I just wish more services are covered under my plan. When I finally got someone on the phone, I was speaking with her then she put me on hold and the phone hung up. I called back and I was waiting for another 45 minutes again the second time. I had an appointment with one company and that company never contacted me to schedule an appointment. I called back to get someone and they ended up saying, “We can't help you right now. You're gonna have to wait.” In the meantime, we went and bought bags of ice 3 times already to keep our food cold. When Shana contacted me back and scheduled an appointment with another company, I had to still wait.
I was okay with the fact that they didn't contact me the same day in order to schedule an appointment. But after the very next day and I didn't get that company to call me in order to schedule the appointment, customer service should have said, “Okay, let's go ahead and find you another contractor in order to come out there,” instead of saying, “No, we have to give them some more time.” That took too long. You never know when something's going to break. Having Home Shield, you at least have someone who can come out and check it for you. Smart Choice said the motor inside was overheating so they had that one replaced. The AC would run and it would run inside, but it wasn't reaching the temperature it should be reaching to cool down the house, and then the outside stayed running so they weren't communicating with each other. The inside was getting hot, but the outside was still running because they know it wasn't time for the AC to go off because it hasn't reached the temperature, but inside it wasn't working. Everything with that went well. The technicians did a really good job.
The only issue we had was when the contractor came to take the motor out and to check that part of it. They needed to replace the motor. We've had the AC for about 10 years. But the newer ones' motors, he said, motors are different. When they hook them up, they don't need a belly band. Ours needed one. He didn't have one with him and he didn't have any when he called into their office. They didn't have any in stock, they said they would have to order it, but he came back within just two days. So far, everything is running fine. We never heard of them before, but they've been coming out on TV after we got service with them. But we have a service plan with Home Shield to get our AC serviced twice a year for three years. There was a certain dollar amount they charge you. If you wanna do that, they could do that also. They come and inspect your AC.

But then the next day, I was just about to turn it on, I was running water and water started gushing down from underneath the sink. I called them back and they came out. They said they only handle the garbage disposal and that I would need a plumber. I had to pay another $125 to have a plumber come out. But then the plumber said it was an appliance issue. And what it was, there's a 15-inch hose that connects from the garbage disposal to the hose that connects to the dishwasher and it looks like it's probably something that they have to find an extension piece. They wouldn't cover it. I didn't understand why it wasn't a plumbing issue as it was for garage disposal and they would have just fixed it. It’s something I could even install myself at this point, but I didn't have a hose and I couldn't get it at Lowe's.
The plumber said he didn't have the part and that I have to call an appliance guy. Now, I'm supposed to have an appliance guy so my cost for the garbage disposal is gonna be $375 when it's all said and done, and it's all because of a 15-inch hose. I think they were trying to squeeze some extra money out of this thingI've been having to hand-wash dishes for two and a half weeks now. They didn't do anything with the plumbing. But I've been happy with American Home Shield and I have used them for years. They generally have some good people working for them.

I had Choice Home Warranty before, and prior to that, I had American Home Shield. I did not like Choice Warranty that’s why I went back to American Home Shield. I thought the service was better. The technicians were more professional and the wait time wasn’t as long. Recently, my air conditioner was making this terrible noise and it didn’t make it. What probably happened, something could have got caught up in it, and by the fan spinning, it could have just broken it off. So the contractor didn’t really fix anything. The technicians that came out were very polite though. I’m just hoping that I don’t have that issue again, but I won’t know until it happens again.

We had a sink clogged up and we had a leak on a faucet. We had City Plumbing come out and we had them do several things while they were there including the food grinder that wasn't working. We paid the $75 fee and they did a good job. The garbage disposal, the faucet, and the leaky drain were fixed. American Home Shield had done fine so far. We bought the protection knowing that the trailer we bought wasn't in really good shape and we knew we would have some repairs. And it has been worth the money.

I recently had someone to come out and they gave us their estimate of what was wrong with our dishwasher. But they weren’t able to fix anything because the tech determined that the dishwasher was just a loss. So I'm waiting now on a replacement from American Home Shield. They said that they've ordered it. They gave me a date of next week for the replacement to get here and then I have to call and get it installed.
I like American Home Shield. It's a process to get things replaced. But if it needs to be replaced, they will go ahead and replace it. But I noticed recently that the call volume is very heavy. I think that's because of the pandemic. People are at home and stuff are breaking. So I've had very long wait for that. Also, I've noticed that the experience was a little bit different this time when they sent me choices on what I could choose to replace the dishwasher with. Whoever sent the link did not realize none of those things were available. So I had to call them. The lady sat on the phone with me, which I appreciated, and to go from website to website to find a dishwasher that was available. But I think that's a pandemic woe. I had an experience with them before and it was much smoother. They're a good company.
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

For an AC service call, American Home Shield gave me A-US Air Conditioning of Texas and I really disliked them. I went through them before because towards the end of June, my air went out. That time, I had a guy named JT and he came out. He serviced and fixed the unit. He said it was a wire that was out. But last week, I got home and I went to cut the thermostat down. Water started coming to my toes. What JT fixed was on the outside of the house. I don't know if that’s the AC unit as well, but it's one on the inside of my garage that the vents go through the home. Water was leaking from there. I didn't get to call because it was so late. I went online and put the work order in with American Home Shield.
The next morning, I got a call from the same girl who called me the last time. She left a message and I called back. She told me that a tech would get back with me by Saturday and that she was gonna set the appointment for Sunday. She recommended that I actually cut the AC off. But it was extremely hot and it was kinda difficult to keep my air off the entire day. We were able to do it off and on as much as I could because I have a child at home. On Friday, I called American Home Shield because I wanted to let them know that I placed an order online. Normally, I call in and do it. When I called, the guy that I talked to said that he was going to do something to where I wouldn't have to pay the service fee again since it would be notated as a recall and not something new because a contractor came out before.
When he did that, I got a phone call on Saturday from another guy at the AC company. He called me and said he had an appointment for me. He said he had two work orders. I explained to him that the guy had said that he was trying to notate my account to where I wouldn't have to pay the extra fee. He told me that it would come up like that so I told him that it should only be one work order. The guy told me that he would still keep me down for Sunday and that somebody would contact me later on Saturday. Cool, everything was okay. But I never heard back from anybody. Sunday comes around and this the spot with the water had grown tremendously big in my home. I had to take the vent off and stick a bowl because I didn't know what to do.
When I called Sunday, the contractor was closed so I called American Home Shield and informed them of what was going on. The person that I talked to said they were gonna do the emergency line. She was able to call the contractor and get through. The guy said that a tech would be calling me 30 minutes before they arrived. I told the lady, the servicing went the same way it went last time. When they told me a tech was gonna call me, a tech didn't. I told her nobody was gonna call me today because they didn't call me Saturday to confirm a time that they would be at my home on Sunday. But this water was like everywhere so I was just trying to figure out what to do.
The lady gave me a number to call. I called and this time, I got a name. The guy that I spoke to was Angel. In the very beginning, Angel was okay with his tone and everything was professional. I expressed my frustration to him then he came out and told me that all he is is just an emergency call person and that he doesn't have the system in front of him. But he was going to reach out to speak to a supervisor. He would call me back within 10 to 15 minutes. This was a little bit before 2 o'clock. 3 o'clock came and I still haven't heard from him so I called back. I expressed to him who I was and my frustration. He was like, "Well, a tech did come out to your home."
First, he stated that he couldn't get into the system and couldn't see anything then he stated that he was reading a tech note. He said, "You're in Forney, right?" to which I replied, "No, I'm going to Dallas." He said the guy notated in his system that he came to my home, he put Freon in my air conditioner, and he charged me $144 to do it. At this time, my frustration was out of control and this guy was frustrated too. Both of us were very unprofessional. I told Angel that if he could see what the guy put in there, then he should be able to see that when JT came to my home, I didn't pay him anything. Why then would I give the other guy something?
I added, "Then you tell me he put Freon in my air as if it's not cooling. Why would he put a liquid when my air conditioner is already leaking liquid? That would make no sense." I said the guy was lying and that he didn't come to my house. Angel went back and forth with me and insisted that the guy said he came to my house. I told Angel that I would not pay the guy any money when American Home Shield takes money from me on a monthly basis for service. This was not making any sense to me. Angel finally said that when the guy calls him back, then that was when he would let me know. That was how bad it got.
I called American Home Shield. I even tried to go online to set up a new appointment. I was willing to pay the $75 fee because I stressed to them that I didn't want those people out in my home. I was so frustrated I couldn't get any phone call on Saturday and I was still thinking somebody was gonna come to my home on Sunday. I asked Angel who the tech that said they came out and he said it was Thomas. When I called American Home Shield, it was a complaint because I told them, "I want you to give me somebody new to go through because this guy's lying, saying he was at my house and he wasn't." The guy ended up texting me while I was on the phone with American Home Shield. He said that he could come to my house in the morning between 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock.
I texted him back and I said that was fine and that I would be at home. I told him this was really irritating me. I said, "The guy, Angel, told me that you said that you came to my house, put Freon in there and charge me $144, which you and I both know that's not true. If you're coming to my home tomorrow, I need you to uphold your end of the bargain." He never responded.
He texted me that morning and said that he would be within my house within 30 minutes. I was getting up and he turned around and he texted back, "If you don't respond, then you're gonna have to call them." I responded and told him that I was at home. He actually showed up at my house a little bit after 7:00. It wasn't between the 8:00 and 10:00 window. He fixed the unit. Because I was so frustrated, I didn't take my anger out on him. But it was the same guy, Thomas. I was really tempted to ask him why he made that comment in my file and lie about it when he didn't come to my house but I let it go.
I had to pay to get a carpet cleaning company to come out to suck up all the water that was in there. I had to go back in and suck the water that was up at my house up in the vent. It was just hectic. After all of that weekend stuff, I was okay come Monday. But it was just so unprofessional to me and I even went back as Angel was asking me who I talked to. That was another thing. Even on the messages that they left, they never left the name. It was like, "This is American Home Shield, give me a call..." It wasn't like, "This is Madilyn, calling with American Home Shield." I couldn't get anybody's name. Even when I talked to the people, all I could remember were their voices. When Angel asked me who I spoke to, I told him it was the same girl I spoke with last time.
I just really couldn't remember her name because I didn't even ask. She was talking so quickly when she answered when I first had my service with them. That was what I was explaining to American Home Shield. The procedures that they went through the first time was not the same. The first time when JT came out, I got a phone call the next day like the rep said. He scheduled a time and he texted me the time. I didn't have any issues. But this time around, it was so frustrating. I don't know if American Home Shield records their phone calls, but I told the last lady I spoke with, "I didn't wanna take my frustration out on you because it's not for you. It's for them because they are the ones lying, saying that they came to my house." I then started receiving all of these text messages from American Home Shield that my stuff was completed.
But it wasn't American Home Shield's fault. It was really the contractor's fault. I don't know what American Home Shield was able to see like if they were able to see that the contractor was coming. I called three times and I held so long. One of the ladies that I talked to was telling me that they had one in there and cancelled the order. She didn't know where that was coming from. She said it wasn't American Home Shield cancelling it. It was the contractor. I was going back and forth with the lady and it was irritating.

My dishwasher wouldn't stop and it was getting really hot. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and they sent 1st Choice Repair out to handle my problem. 1st Choice came pretty quickly and their tech said that he had to do a reset. He showed me how to do that. I let it run after I did the reset but then the dishwasher still did the same thing. Next he told me they would order a new control panel.
I called AHS to tell them to order the control panel or have the guy from 1st Choice call me. That guy never called. I called back several times and finally got a lady in the office and I told her what was going on. She got the numbers from me and ordered the control panel that was needed. I also told her that I didn't want the guy who came out to come back because he I didn't get a response or a return call. Also, he was a smoker and he was coughing in my house. There is COVID and I don't want people coughing at my place. He didn't wear a mask as well.
The lady whom I spoke with said she was gonna things up. As soon as the part came she said she would call me and have the owner of the contractor company come and put the part in. It took several weeks and the part came. The rep called me like she said she would. The owner of 1st Choice came and he told me that the part had been on order the whole time. He puts the panel in and the dishwasher has been working fine since then.

I used to have American Home Shield when I first purchased my home about eight years ago. Over time, I didn't think it was necessary to have it and then later on, I thought it was time that I should go back on it. When I put in a claim for the AC unit, J.G. called me the next day and set up an appointment, which was two days later. They were awesome. They had one of the techs come out. He was out the first time on a Friday to evaluate what the issue could have been and then after that, they called me back. He was back out the following Friday and he fixed my AC unit.

We started with American Home Shield when we first bought the house that my son lives in and we had a very bad experience. It was so bad that I swore I'd never use American Home Shield again. However, I changed my mind when I knew that there were things that I might wanna have repaired, especially for my son, that I didn't want to have to mess with, and he could just call. I gave them another try. There was a time that the thermostat wasn't working. I did a claim online and the website was user friendly. The man from J-Tech Mechanical then came out and he was right on time. He gave my son a brand new thermostat and it worked. He was very helpful. Also, my son is a very difficult person, and he has him saying fantastic things about him.

We told the sellers we wanted a one-year warranty on the house when we purchased it and they chose American Home Shield. The home warranty company gave us Mr. Appliance of East Texas as our contractor for a claim we made and they did a great job. They told me that I needed to get a new part for the icemaker or I needed to replace the icemaker because our refrigerator was not making ice and it's not dispensing water. The person that came out diagnosed the problem and said that they would get back with me. But they didn't and I had to contact them. They told me that it wasn't covered under warranty.
I had already paid for the service call and everything. I asked why the contractor had to come out if that was not covered under warranty. I wasted $75 for no reason. I tried to call and email American Home Shield about that but I never got a response back. When I tried to call, it was like a two-hour wait on the phone and I wasn't gonna wait that long so I just gave up.
We're very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. When I talked to them the first time, I told them what the problem was. I kinda wish there had been more communication about how that was not going to be covered under the warranty then I would have never had anybody come out. That was my main thing. They said they'd cover everything on your appliances then they tell me it's not going to be covered. Why do I have this warranty then with American Home Shield?

The seal around my refrigerator was loose and that took about three weeks to get fixed. Advanced Appliance Service had to order the parts and then they came back and put them in. But I didn't complain because that was out of his control. The only problem I had was that they had to cancel the appointment twice. Then I had to make the call to the company myself and reschedule, which was different because American Home Shield always set up the appointment. When you go online and put in what you want to do, in about a couple of days, they usually email you back.
It took this contractor a while. I called in and put the order in. But he laid it down and forgot about it. Then I called him back and he apologized for not getting it through. On top of that, they were gonna have me sitting here all day for two days. I didn't like that because I had already prepared for one day. It was their mistake because they had to cancel. They said they didn't have enough workmen working but that's their problem. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with American Home Shield. It’s just this particular company. They don’t always do what they're supposed to do.

We have had Aerotek three times over the years. They have been very quick to respond to come and look at everything. For the last few years, they've mentioned about the furnace. But then this past winter, I noticed that it seemed to be working really hard. Then my air conditioner, at the same time, it had been acting up. The motor was running all the time and my neighbor could hear it also because the bedroom window was there. So, I had Aerotek come and do all my duct system. As they were doing that, I asked them to look at the dryer, check the air conditioner, and then another thing that I had a concern about. And I had American Home Shield recommend them.
Over the past four years, Aerotek said that it looked okay. Then this year, they put on the air conditioner, and when they were doing that, they could see that there were some other problems. They showed me what the issues were so that I understood what was going on. They weren't just trying to sell me a product. Aerotek called me yesterday and left me an estimate. But I just haven't made a decision yet.
Trying to get through American Home Shield is a pain. I've waited on the phone for at least 55 minutes almost every time. One time, I lost connection after waiting 45 minutes. You could be on the phone for an hour and a half just trying to say that you have a problem with your furnace. I have some other friends that are using them and they're having the same issue with waiting too long on the phone. But the people that answer the phone have been very courteous and nice. Some of them, I have a little difficulty understanding what they're saying. But we worked through and it had been fine.

SNL Appliance Repair did wonderful. They didn't even have to come out to diagnose the problem. Home Shield sent Universal Refrigeration out beforehand, and they were horrible. The owner of the company was awful. He made me cry on the phone. It took them a month to try to schedule an appointment to get the problem fixed. When SNL called, I gave them the model number on my refrigerator, let them know what the other company said the problem was. That was on a Saturday. By Tuesday they had an appointment scheduled for me. They came out and fixed it by Thursday. SNL picked up where Universal Refrigeration dropped the ball.
I reported Universal Refrigeration to the Better Business Bureau because when I was looking to Google them to find out where their company was, it says that they were closed and it gave another address for their location. After three and a half weeks, they never showed up. They were supposed to come on a Wednesday to fix it. They were supposed to call me Thursday morning. They never called. I called in the afternoon and the lady reassured me that they were gonna come that day.
I texted the tech late in the afternoon and he said he wasn't gonna be able to make it. Friday, they were supposed to call me in the morning, they never called. So I contacted Home Shield, and within 20 minutes of contacting Home Shield, the Universal Refrigeration owner called me and was very rude. I didn't even know he was the owner until I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that it would do no good to complain about them because it wasn't gonna do any good. Then he told me he was the owner. I told him I did not want that company in my home.
If Home Shield is gonna send them to my home again, I would refuse their service. SNL was exceptional. Kim called me on Saturday and had the problem resolved by the end of the week. I liked Home Shield. They were quick. This was my first claim with them. I have a rental house, and I've used them before. They were great at the rental home, but when it came to this situation with Universal Refrigeration, I almost canceled my subscription with them. But they had somebody contact me immediately. So they handled it very well.
Thanks for sharing our experience. I am glad SNL was able to rectify the situation. Take Care. 5

My relative told me that I needed Home Shield. One time my washer stopped working. It's holding water. I had washed one load of clothes, put it in the dryer, put another load of clothes into my washer, and I fell asleep. And when I woke up, I went to check it, because I thought to myself, "I’ll put the clothes in the dryer." But when I went to reach into the washer, it was full of water. I called in and told Home Shield that my washer was not working, and asked if they could get a service call. They said that the contractor will try to reach out to me. Everyone has been very kind, and they have been thoughtful and helpful.
My problem is I work for Mobile County and we're still working, and they don’t want us to have our phones on the job. But of course, we do because people realize that we have emergencies, families, and we need to stay in close contact with them, especially now. But it's still difficult because you just can't be on your phone. So, I turn my phone off all day. Also, I know that there are a lot of ruthless, lawless, and predatory companies, but no matter which contractor came to my home, they were all very pleasant. When I add up any positive or negative things, the positive always outweigh the negative.

We had two plumbers come out recently. The first one was for a toilet installation. We had already bought the toilet after our last one broke. We just needed it installed so it was nothing too complicated. My husband really liked the plumber. He was a very good and professional person and he seemed to know what he was doing. Then the second one, when we bought the house, we were told that the cold water tap in the shower didn't work. We asked the sellers to fix it and they didn't want to so as part of our deal, they gave us the home warranty with American Home Shield. So, we called the plumber to have them come out and take a look. We thought that they might just be able to install new fixtures and fix whatever was wrong, but the fixtures that we had weren't up to code. The plumber would have to do pipe modifications, which wasn't covered with our current warranty according to American Home Shield.
We were disappointed that the modification wasn't covered because it was a bit of a pricier issue. We were hoping that at least part of it would be covered for the modifications, especially since the sellers wouldn't fix it. We were going through the plumber ourselves to get the modifications done, though American Home Shield did say that they could at least cover the cost of the fixture installation when we sorted it out with the plumber.
We are glad that we have American Home Shield. We've been using it as a tool to ease into homeownership, which has been nice. This is our first house so we don't exactly know what we're doing in terms of getting things fixed when they break, now that we don't have a landlord to call. So it has been a little bit of a comfort to know that we can always get something scheduled through our home warranty, and we don't have to worry about finding someone to come out, and we know that at least part of the cost is going to be covered for it.

Hornet Appliances was excellent. They made two visits and everything was fixed. They were very professional and quick. There was a delay because of parts that they had to order that took two days. It was totally understandable and I knew that it was gonna be as such. Nonetheless, the second technician that showed up made things happen okay. There was no negligence on their first visit. It was just having to assess the problem and solve it. Then it took a matter of four days for everything to be taken care of, and that was it. I've used American Home Shield several times in the past and I'm familiar with what I have to deal with. It can be confusing if you're new to the game on how it's played. I called for plumbing service on June 22 because my kitchen sink was stopped up and I was having problems with my Hot Water Heater. Well K & S Plumbing came out. Said he couldn't get drain unstopped because something was blocking his RIGID drain cleaner from entering and he needed to get authorization from American Home Shield to run camera. On June 25th he came by that evening to run camera but it was broke. So on Friday June 26 I called K & S plumbing. I asked for my service to be transferred to another business. I was told that I had to contact American Home Shield myself because they could not transfer my service. I contacted American Home Shield and placed me on hold while they contacted K & S plumbing to verify the situation. I was told that Dispatch will call me back to schedule my service.
On Saturday morning June 27 at 7:59 AM I received an email that my service was forward to Redman Plumbing. He came out that afternoon and run his RIGID drain cleaner and got my sink unstopped. As far as my water Heater being replaced I have not heard from American Home Shield for replacement and today is July 14, 2020. The customer service is terrible at this present time. I think that American Home Shield uses K & S plumbing to charge customers for modifications that are not in contract to cover the cost of replacements and then they do not pay anything to the vendor. You the customer get ripped off and end up replacing your own products. This is sad.
Do not get a Home Warranty. Just repair or replace your own Appliances for your home. In the long run you spend more money by having a Home Warranty. Paying $61.99 month for 12 months = $743.88. Just think you still have to pay $75.00 for service call and then still have to wait and see if they are going to replace your item. I have tried to contact the CEO of this company and I have not had any success.

AHS took my money with no problem but I was not uninformed that I would have to contact AHS, shouldn't it be the other way around, the contractor told me this information. Last Friday I was on hold for 3 hours and 2 minutes with AHS. Eventually I had to hang up. Now, I am writing this while I'm on hold again, going on 2 hours and 43 mins. No one should EVER have to hold for anything that long. I know what they're doing, they don't want to purchase a dishwasher for me. This way, with them not contacting me, and I can't reach them, they don't have to purchase anything. They don't even deserve 1 start. What a scam.

I placed an order for repair on my air condition system on June 16th, and I'm still waiting one month later. When I call American Home Shield I'm placed on hold for over an hour. I've contacted the contractor and they tell me they haven't received the air condition unit. I'm just getting a round, these few months have been very hot I'm using five fans. Hope to get this taken care of ASAP.

Need to speak with someone at the corporate office! We have paid for AHS for 26 years, and have not had a time when a repair was "Covered" that you did it w/o an issue! Recently a company you assigned came out b/c our A/C unit wasn't cooling. You have a commercial that airs in Texas every time you turn on the T.V. talking about how you cover all appliances, a/c, etc regardless of the age of the equipment. The a/c tech came out and told us that the compressor was out, 2k to replace it, but since the unit was so old, it would eventually burn out the coil. To replace the coil would be another 2k... HVAC Tech said his recommendation is to replace the whole unit, inside and out...
Again, we have paid this premium w/o fail for 26 years... You would not and did not cover any portion of the new unit, instead you wanted us to replace 2 items that would just prolong the inevitable... Your company has always been shady, you have never just fixed the issue w/o an issue... I need you to explain to me why you did not honor what your commercial advertises, and why you disregarded what the HVAC tech told you needed to be done w/o us wasting 4k first..
I will be filing a complaint with the BBB for your state, and I will post my complaint on Facebook... You have the single worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with, you can never get a representative on the line even before corona... We are now in debt for 8k for a new unit for something that should have been under warranty...Or at least you pay "Something" toward the new unit... But your cheap ** would rather us waste 4k... And then there was no guarantee would pay it then, tech said you probably wouldn't.. You are liars and thieves and after 26 years of loyalty... This is what you do... I hate this company!!!
Shondi,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I hate that you have had a warranty that you were not happy with for 26 years and that you were not totally satisfied with your overall experience with us. I created a service request online for a refrigeration repair. No one ever showed up for the appointment yet I was charged by AHS. I then called to schedule another service appointment. I waited over an hour to schedule this call. The serviceman showed up and said, he couldn't repair without parts that AHS would order. We waited a week and called the repairman back. They said, they had not heard from AHS as of yet. I proceeded to call AHS back (waited over an hour again), to have them tell me they didn't order the parts because they wanted to make me a cash offer for a new fridge.
The cash offer was 1/2 the cost of a new refrigerator - so I declined and they said, they would order the parts. It's been a week now and I called AHS back (over an hour wait). They still have not reimbursed me for the 1st appointment no one showed up for. They also have not ordered any parts as of yet. It's now been 4 weeks without a working refrigerator... Not sure how they are still in business...

Since owning the home we have had AHS come out at minimum 4-5 times every summer for thirteen years and they have replaced piece by piece doing everything in their power to hold that air conditioner together so that they would not have to replace the item. In May 2020 I placed a service request for my Air Conditioner unit. It was blowing hot air. American Home shield sent Pasadena Heating & Air, LLC to my home. They deemed my air conditioner DEAD and put in a request to replace the unit, surprisingly it was approved.
I was told my portion for the replacement would be $1500.00 and this would cover the modification that was necessary and the Freon. Also, I was notified by the vendor that they ONLY ACCEPT CASH because the owner has had disgruntled customers in the past and they have canceled payments. This set off alarms for me and made me feel uneasy like this was about to be a back door deal about to go bad! I thought, "How will this protect me?" I don't even have an estimate or invoice showing me what will be done and or how their work would be warrantied??? With a cash payment I have absolutely NO proof that I paid them for a service.
I am normally very thorough in all transactions so I researched the company on BBB and found their reviews to be horrible. I immediately contacted AHS and as you can imagine my request to have another company complete the install was denied even after I told them about the reviews I read and the fact that they are demanding that I pay them in cash before they even set food in my home. I also asked AHS if they were insured and bonded. "Yes, Ma'am!" I tried to plead my case that I was uneasy and uncomfortable about this company.
When I requested a service agreement from the owner that was located in Las Vegas (go figure) he sent me a MICKEY MOUSE INVOICE, see ATTACHED. I again contacted AHS to request some type of guarantee on my air condition install, they assured me that everything would be done according to code and guaranteed. They basically told me that I did not have a choice - either I let them complete the install or I could have no air. I had a two month old baby and an immune compromised seven year son, my back was against the wall...
I allowed Pasadena to do the install. The two men that came to complete the install stated that they are just contracted under Pasadena that they have their own company and assure me the job will be done correctly. They are aware of the reputation that Pasadena has acquired. After 8 hours the install was complete according to the gentlemen. The gentlemen Josiah gave me his father's direct cell number in case I ever needed additional work or if there was a problem. They stated that they knew how "**" AMH could be so, "If there is an issue call us first." A week later my air unit was making a loud clunking sound and the air was not as cold as I believed it should be considering that we just installed a new unit. The owner of the sub-contractor came out immediately "pleasantly surprised". He stated that it required more Freon. "Don't worry. Free of charge Ma'am".
July 8th, I walk into my babies' room to see the light fixture full with water, and the NEWLY RENOVATED ceiling bubbling and leaking water onto our brand new carpet. I called the direct number for the sub-contractor and requested that he call me back ASAP and then I called AHS and with no exaggeration waited EIGHTY FIVE MINUTES before a representative answered my call. I explained the situation and according to the rep this call would be EXPEDITED because of the secondary damages. During this time I was also reminded to refer to the contract that AHS is not responsible for ANY SECONDARY DAMAGES INCURRED. So the call has supposedly been elevated to EXPEDITE, due to the circumstances of my children's health and the secondary damages, meaning I should receive a call within 4 hours to schedule a time for repair. NO CALL!
Thursday, July 9th I committed 3-4 hours of my time trying to have that representative understand that the call prior should have already expedited the request. "I am sorry Ma'am, I am going to be honest. The called was not moved up in queue, NO worries though, I will expedite this request - please allow 4 hours." Hours later, I finally get a call back from Pasadena sub-contractor BOB he says to me, "You need to call AHS and tell them that it is your drip pan that needs to be replaced. Your drip pan is cracked and corroded, we told them that it should be replaced but they denied it so we just proceeded with the install as is." I stated to BOB that this was conversation should be between them and AHS. He then said "You have to call."
I called AHS and relayed the message from BOB. The representative wanted to confirm this statement and put me on hold to contact Pasadena. She kept calling the number on file to the owner of PASADENA who is located in VEGAS, NO ANSWER! I said to her to contact the sub-contractor of Pasadena (which of course AHS was completely unaware of). "Here is his direct cell number." The representative comes back on the line to tell me that the person who answered the phone said this was the wrong number!
I began to lose my cool at this point because this was complete insanity to me!!! I said, "Call it again!" This time BOB does not answer. Request is yet again placed in QUEUE. I call back 4 hrs later to find out status. "Ma'am Pasadena was assigned your service request and they have since declined it. I will need to reach out to another contractor." I reiterated the importance because of my children's health, "Yes, Ma'am I will ensure the request is expedited!" Now, I get a notice that my request has been assigned to REDMONDS CLEANING PROFESSIONALS and that someone has 24 hrs to reach out to me.
It's FRIDAY, July 10th and I still have not had a call from REDMONDS CLEANING PROFESSIONALS to set an appointment time. I am livid because the conversation is the same, "I am sorry Ma'am - I will reach out to them to see if they can move you up, do you mind if I put you on hold for 3 to 5 minutes?" "Ma'am I am sorry they are unable to service your request until Monday between 11 to 4." There is back and forth because I want an earlier date - end result I have to wait until Monday. I reiterated 4x's, "They are coming MONDAY BETWEEN 11-4, CORRECT?" "Yes Ma'am."
MONDAY - I call AHS to confirm time because still I have not received confirmation via my EMAIL or TEXT by the company. "I am sorry Ma'am I am showing that this appointment was cancelled." It was all downhill from there! My anxiety, my frustration, my sanity was depleted at that moment! I had to hang up and step away. I have since reached out on my own to obtain service from a private contractor who has already stated that my unit was IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND THAT THE DRIP PAN SHOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY BEEN REPLACED WITH THE INSTALL OF A NEW UNIT and that my unit was not installed according to code.
I have so much going on in my personal life that I barely have the time to give to such things as this especially, because I pay AHS to take care of such things. I have been paying American Home Shield since 2008. The yearly fee fluctuated from $53 - $60 annually, they would attempt to raise my premiums faithfully every year. I have had to pay service fees that started at $60 and has since been increased to $75 every time someone comes out to my home for anything. I cannot move on from this, I feel violated, robbed and I feel compelled to continue my endeavor to make sure everyone knows what crooks AHS are. I attempted to cancel my account through their customer service and was told by automation that the hold time was greater than 1 hour, insane! I went directly through my bank to cancel any further withdrawals from AHS.

Updated on 07/15/2020: How do I begin? We have been customers of AHS for many years. We have told all of our friends to get AHS. I WILL NEVER AGAIN PROMOTE American Home Shield. We have always had good results from this company. Then two years ago, our washer died. It took 3 months to get a resolution to the problem. We had 5 adults living in our house at the time and not having a washer was a huge inconvenience. However, we gave the company the benefit of the doubt that mistakes happen.
Now it is July 15, 2020. Our air conditioner stopped working on June 28. We put in a repair request on June 28. The repair person arrived on June 29 at approximately 9:30 AM. He told us that the compressor was the problem and we would need a new one. We asked how long it would take? He said 3-5 days. It is now July 15 and we still do not have a compressor or a working air conditioner. We have called and called! No one takes our call. There is an online chat feature that only works occasionally.
Finally, on Friday, July 10 we were able to chat with someone that told us they would talk with the repair company and find out why the unit was not repaired. Then on Saturday, July 11, we tried to chat again because no one had contacted us from Friday. We were told that no information had changed since yesterday! Then we were told that the part was ordered and it would be repaired on Monday.
On Monday, I posted a review of this “SAD COMPANY.” It was amazing how fast we heard from them. Then they told us they were going to order the part and escalate our work order. ORDER THE PART! We were told it was ordered on June 29. Then they put us on hold and then they hung up on us! We called back and they said they needed to work some things out and would call us back that evening. SOOOO, now it is Tuesday and we had to call back this morning. They have escalated the problem and someone will call us on Wednesday!
We have been without air conditioning since June 28. It has been 18 days and each day the temperatures are topping over 90 degrees. We are TIRED, MISERABLE, and ANGRY! All we get from this company is a one-person saying anything that might appease us and another person saying something that contradicts the last person, but also trying to appease us! Our family is really suffering from the heat. WE NEED A RESOLUTION!
Original Review: We had to give this company 1 star. They deserve zero stars! We have had American Home Shield for almost 20 years. It used to be a great company! Now, we can't get our air conditioner fixed. Our service request was June 28, 2020. It is now July 14, 2020 and still no air conditioning. We live in the south and it is 90+ degrees every day. Due to COVID-19, we work from home. AHS will not call us back to give us an update. We call them and sit on the phone for hours waiting for someone to take our call with no luck. We were successful in using the online chat feature this weekend, but shockingly now that does not work! However, when we did chat with them this weekend, we were told the part was being ordered by the repair company and had been ordered July 3 and then they said "No, it was ordered June 29." Yesterday, we called the repair company and they said AHS had ordered the part on Friday July 10.
Honestly, I am tired of the lies! We pay our money every month and we paid the service fee before the repair person arrived, but we still do not have a working air conditioner and we have a lot of inconsistent information. We are MISERABLE and ANGRY! We feel scammed! Any upstanding company would contact their customers and give them an update! At this point we just want our air conditioner fixed and honest information.

Overall, I was dissatisfied with the experience. I do appreciate AHS responding to this review and providing a suitable resolution, however, the time to resolve was very long and required hours and hours on hold and multiple times where the CS rep took no action except suggesting I wait for action. After finally getting the attention of an AHS rep from a department that was able to take action, the resolution came within a reasonable amount of time.
Original Review: July 14, 2020
As of July 6, 2020, warranty service or cash out has not been completed after 40 days. Two service providers ID'd HVAC is broken. Temp is 95degF. I requested service for a broken heat pump on May 28, 2020. AHS Provider A diagnosed equipment on June 4 as nearly empty of R22 refrigerant and saying the cost was $145/lb, which AHS covered at $10/lb. Provider A stated to me the following week the diagnosis was submitted on June 1 and no further info would be provided to AHS. I called AHS 3-4 times each week from June 1-14 and AHS repeated that Provider A hadn't submitted a report. I contacted Provider A and was told that Provider A wasn't working with AHS anymore. AHS assigned Provider B on June 16.
On June 25, Provider B confirmed heat pump was broken, stating both the compressor (outdoor coil) and air handler (indoor coil) were broken and would need to be recharged with 10lb of R22. I called AHS on June 26 and they stated everything AHS would not cover. I said I wasn't interested in repairing the heat pump because it was 17 yrs old. I was contacted by AHS the following week and told they would be covering replacement of the broken air handler, a leak/seal repair, and $10/lb for R22 refrigerant. I said I was interested in the cash in lieu of (CILO) option and not interested in repairing a 2003 heat pump, based on the fact the leak/seal might fail and the cost to me for refrigerant was more than $1100.
When I called AHS again on June 30, they said that they had already authorized Provider B to order the equipment and the CILO option wasn't available. I said I never authorized the purchase and the agent said they would cancel and request the CILO option. They said the CILO department would contact me within 24-48 hours.
I called back on July 4, and the agent said no one in the CILO department was available and that I would need to wait. I called back on July 6 and the agent said I really needed to wait 3-5 business days to be contacted by the CILO department. My heat pump has been broken for 40 days and my house is 95degF. The government tells me I should stay home, but I have to wait for a warranty company to tell me my heat pump is broken twice, then offer to fix half the system and refill it with a banned refrigerant at $135/lb, and then wait a week for a CILO department to call me. The only time AHS has called me is to tell me what they will not cover.
As 13 July, contacted by Provider B, equipment arrived. Still no calls from AHS. Provider B is trying to be helpful, but AHS clearly never requested the cash out. The last customer service rep actually sounded sincerely apologetic, as if he was sorry but I’m just out of luck. Worst experience ever. BBB complaint filed. Feel like no one is home at AHS while my family and suffer in a pandemic.

The AC was leaking water on the ground from the condenser and the technician didn’t find much but he was good. It turned out I might have a plumbing issue that’s blocking the condenser from draining properly. So, I have to get somebody else out for that. But I'm not home right now, so that'll be another few weeks and we’ve shut off the AC. We’ve had American Home Shield for this house for just a few months but we’ve had it at multiple houses in the past for many years. It's nice to have the coverage of the stuff that tends to break when it gets older.

I called American Home Shield when the air wasn't cooling. It was like 80 something degrees in there. It was blowing but it was just the fan. It was Sunday about 4 o'clock and it was really getting hot. I called 2 or 3 different times and lost the call. I woke up at 3:00 in the morning and it was like 85 degrees. I called again and got through to a person. I think that they were just so busy during the day that I could not get through. Then I saw that I could actually file online after I'd spent all that time on hold.
They said that I would hear something within a couple hours. It was 3:00 in the morning, so I knew I wasn’t gonna hear by 5:00. But at 9 o’clock, I still hadn't heard anything. I knew businesses were open, so I called them back. I don't know what happened, but I don't think that they assigned it to anyone. I was on hold for quite a little bit and within a few minutes, I got an email stating that Houston Air had been assigned. I called Houston Air, and they said that they had somebody in Victoria. That's fairly close. Houston is a total opposite direction. But they said he had a full plate. I told them we've got children in the house. They came back and said somebody would be there by noon. They got there at quarter to 11:00 and was gone by 11:00. It was fabulous. They put a new capacitor on it. But now, it's not working again so I had to call back again yesterday because it was 78 degrees in there last night.
We have 2 homes warrantied with American Home Shield and I'm getting ready to renew with them but I had some issues. When we got here at our home in Corpus Christi at 10 o'clock in the morning, it was a 85 in here. We filed a claim with American Home Shield. They told us who our people were going to be. I called them and the guy said it had to be tomorrow morning before they could get out and they had to order a part. We had to wait on parts and I was panicking. My husband said to tell the guy he'd give him extra money if he'd come out. Lo and behold, he texted and said he'd come that night. He put Freon in it and we paid them 100 and some odd dollars. He told me he'd sent me an invoice, which he never did. We went to bed at 10:30. At midnight, we woke up and it was 80 in here already. So it had quit. We had no air. The guy just did something to get it over with thinking it would last at least longer than three hours but he never even attempted to come back.
I called the gentleman the next morning, Saturday. He said he got a full schedule that day. He'd try to get back out sometime. We texted him several times but he wouldn't respond. I was on the phone with American Home Shield 3 times a day and it's a long process when you call them. It’s horrible. I would get a different answer every time. When I called somebody else back the next day, and I did this for days, I finally got ahold of somebody by the name of Car. He said that he had escalated the issue.
On Tuesday, we got a message that that same company was supposed to come out. I didn't want anything to do with them. Then we got another one that said a different company was coming out. They came on Wednesday and said the AC needed a coil on the inside. They got the part on Thursday and they came and fixed it. It wouldn't work. Then he checked the outside and it had fried the outside unit because of that low freon. He had to get authorization from American Home Shield to fix. We've got inside and outside unit, and they just got it fixed the day before yesterday. We were without air for 9 days and it's 100 and something degrees here. They just kept telling me they escalated it. I don't know what escalated means, but it wasn't good. They were not getting anything done.
The owner of the first company called me and said they were supposed to come on a recall on me the day before. He apologized that they didn't get out. I told American Home Shield that the gentleman took cash to come. That was a bribe so they must have said something to the owner. The owner called and said he apologized. He understood that his employee took cash and he was going to come out to our house physically himself and bring us back that cash. But he didn’t ever come and it’s almost a week. They're a lowlife. I don’t think they need to be doing business with people like that because that’s not right.

My AC wasn't cooling off. The guy who came the first time as American Home Shield's contractor did not even put his gauge out to see which of my units need Freon. I asked him how he knew how many pounds of Freon were needed and he said "Three pounds". I told him that he didn't even check and asked him how he would know. The second contractor sent by Home Shield checked everything. They added some Freon but what they did was the total opposite of what the first contractor said. The first tech said the downstairs unit needed Freon. The second contractor told me that my downstairs unit was fine and that it was my unit upstairs that needed Freon.
Currently, there's another issue with my AC as it goes on all night even when it's cold. But then, it never gets to 72. Instead, it's at 75-77. That's as cold as it gets so there's definitely an issue. Regardless, the second contractor did what they could. After they came, my AC is definitely better though it's not what it should be. I like how AHS covers whatever breaks for me.

The rekeying process was smooth and easy. Realty Rekey was good. The tech was able to come early so that was nice and he was quick and efficient. But I'm not too happy with the air conditioner process. When the contractor came out, I wasn't able to be home but my sister was and they told her that everything was running fine but that there was some unusual wear and tear. My sister said that she requested for them to call me and let me know but no one did that. I requested a report regarding that because the home does not get cool. The AC doesn't work properly and I was told that they were gonna mail the report to me. But I'm not getting mail right now because I have a complicated situation with my address.
So I called American Home Shield and let them know about that. They transferred me but they said the contractor has to mail it and they can't email it. So that was a little bit frustrating. I'm not gonna get that report. I'm gonna have to call back and ask them to resend it to the correct address. I don't understand why they can't just email me a report or at least have someone call me to let me know what was going on. I got an email on ways to take care of their air conditioner. But when I clicked on it, it just said to change the filter and I did that but the temperature is still not cold.

The first company that American Home Shield put me through wanted me to wait a whole week. But I couldn't wait a whole week because I eat a lot of ice cream. So they put me through to the second company and they came right out. They took care of me before the end of the week. I called on Monday and somebody was here on Tuesday. I'm impressed with them. The claims process was easy, speedy and professional. It was effective. I recommend this to anybody, even if they're renting. All I had to pay was that service charge of 100 and something dollars and I was okay compared to the parts that they had to put in here.

We’re replacing the air conditioner and the payback we’re getting from AHS is insufficient. But that's what the rep said we were gonna get.

The air conditioner unit was making a very loud noise like something was gonna break if we kept it on. We didn't feel that the air coming out of the vents was cool air. It felt more like a fan even when the AC was supposed to be running. I put a claim through the American Home Shield website. It was fine and easy to use. Healthy Duct Cleaning Services was sent out and everything's working fine now. With American Home Shield, overall, everything has been very easy to use and our problems are resolved very quickly.

We had an issue with one of the burners on our stove. The company that AHS sent was fine. The technician looked at it. It's a ceramic top. He said it needed a new burner, so he'd have to order it. He left, and then he ordered it and came back. It took about 10 days to get it. Then he came and put it in, and went on his merry way. It got broken in shipping, but he was able to use the part off the old ones. It’s working fine now. We bought this house and it's got expensive appliances in it. If anything goes wrong or the air conditioner, ‘cause we live in Arizona, we don't wanna have to shell out thousands of dollars at a time. AHS is not cheap, but it's worth it if you have to have a big repair.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

When I flush my toilet, it overflows on the back and Brick Street handled it well. The rep told me what was wrong and that he would need to change something in the back because it broke. As he was lifting something, he dropped it on my commode and broke my commode. So, he had to change my commode because it was an accident. I told him it was okay. It happens. Still, he went to Home Depot, got me a new commode and he replaced it. Everything was good. Brick Street did a good job and my toilet works now.
I’ve been with American Home Shield since 1999 and I'm not happy with how they handled my air conditioning. The toilet with Brick Street is fine but with my air conditioning, the guy came here and said that my unit had a hole and the unit itself needed to be replaced. He said someone would call me and explain what needs to be replaced and what American Home Shield will cover. No one called me and right now, I'm still suffering with no air conditioning. So I bought four portable air conditioning units worth $425 each. I placed one in my kitchen and the other three on the three bedrooms that we have because it's too hot. It's 101 degrees inside. Yesterday, it was 97 degrees.
This is the second time that I've called and I'm tired. No one called me from United Air Temp to discuss to me about what my option is for my air conditioning. It's still broken. I'll probably call American Home Shield later again and do the same exact things for the air conditioning because until now it has never been resolved. It's very hard to get an appointment with some of the contractors. I told American Home Shield that I don't have my home number anymore but they still have my home number on my primary number. I already called just for that particular thing to be changed and apparently, the one that I called didn't change it. So United Air Temp has been calling me on my home number which does not work because I got rid of my home number.
It’s almost like a hit and miss with AHS and lately, because of the pandemic, there's nobody that you can talk to and resolve your issue. You'd be on the phone forever. You can only do things online and then, there's just no follow through. I don't think there's any person working there at all and you just make an appointment online because I've never talked to a person. So, I don't know how they keep their business. I'm a loyal person and I've been with them forever. But I just haven't had a chance to research and get another insurance warranty company.

I've called several times for claims and they've all been easy except for my upstairs shower and that's because the shower is not grounded. The house was sold to me, but it wasn't disclosed that way. I went and spoke with an attorney and there is a bunch of legal jargon that says Home Shield can't fix it until I open up the wall. I've opened up my bathroom wall, and then American Home Shield will send the electricians out and they'll fix it. The shower incident really bothers me, but other than that, everything else has been fine. When my water pump went out in the swamp cooler, I called Home Shield. Quality Services then came out and they fixed it.

Every time I’ve had any kinda claim with American Home Shield, I've been satisfied. When I filed a claim for a slow drain in the upstairs bathtub, they told me the contractor would contact me within the day. When I got the text with his contact number, I reached out to him first because I had company coming two days later. I wanted to make sure that that tub was draining. The contractor told me he could come out either that same day or the next day, and he came out the next day. He did an excellent job. A couple days later, he texted me and also called me to make sure that the drain was still flowing correctly after he snaked it. I appreciated the follow up.

Total Air Care did a great job and I had no problem as far as getting things back running. The tech came, assessed the issue and ordered the parts and fixed the AC. They were on point but if I didn't have another refrigerator, it would be a problem because it was close to two weeks before we got it going again. I've had American Home Shield for probably close to 10 years and I have no complaints at this time but I've had in the past. I have a water softener system which I was having an issue with and American Home Shield wanted to replace it but they weren't gonna replace it with the same kind. The company that owns it wound up coming out and fixing it but I had to do a whole big appeal with American Home Shield to let them come out and fix it. They didn't wanna pay for them to fix it because it was gonna cost so much.
AHS tried to replace the water softener with something that was worth 10% of what the system that we have was worth and also, it was not the same quality as what I had so I wouldn't let them. AHS took it off my policy now so we don't have it. I wound up replacing everything else that I've had that they've had to come out multiple times. It was ridiculous. I keep paying this money so, I could have bought a new one by the time. I've bought new appliances through the years because American Home Shield likes to put a Band-Aid on things. They just fixed my refrigerator for the third time for the same issue. It’s just laziness on my part that I'm staying with AHS but being a homeowner, it's something great to have in place for those things, just in case.

Our AC quit working. I went to the American Home Shield website and started the claim. They sent Efficient Air out to inspect the unit and they determined that the compressor or heat pump went out. They came back and replaced it. The AC still wasn't working properly so they came back out again and there was a restriction. Then a week later, it started not working properly again. I called and nobody ever called me back.
This past Friday, it went out completely again. I was able to get ahold of them Monday morning and they told me I had to get ahold of the home warranty people and put in another claim or readjust the original claim. I did that and the guy was here yesterday. He determined that whatever happened fried the electrical control unit that's why it shut down Friday. He got the control unit replaced but it’s still not running. I've put in the claim yesterday that the system’s still not working. We're still working with Efficient Air and the guy said that he'll try to either get back out here today or tomorrow. We're not pleased at all. Schubert’s Appliance Repair came out for my dryer and they were very professional. They told me what the problem was and they had to order the part. They came back when they got the part and put it in. The washer’s been working perfectly since. The service that I have received has been good so far but it is very hard to get in touch with American Home Shield when you do have a problem. You’re on hold for a long time. When you're so stressed out about something, it can take up to an hour before someone answers you just so you can actually put a claim in. I could probably do it faster if I went online and did it.
My deductible was 75 but it went up to 81. I understand it’s never gonna go down but sometimes, I'll Google or YouTube what the problem is and if it's way more than $80, then I go ahead and hit my American Shield because I'm a single woman and I don't have a man in the house around. It's my peace of mind. I would recommend AHS to my friends. I have a lot of friends who think I shouldn't pay it and save that money a month and then, if something happens, then I have that money saved up. But it doesn’t work like that. Somewhere somehow, that money gets spent.

I’ve had Home Shield for about two years now. They're responsive once you submit your request either online or by phone. The only challenge is, and it's probably everybody's having those challenges now with COVID, is actually trying to talk to a live person. I can certainly understand that. I had some challenges with a washer that actually couldn't be fixed and needed to be replaced, and it took me an hour on hold to talk to somebody. But once I did, they met all the expectations. And since it couldn't be fixed, Home Shield replaced it. They gave me a check to replace it. We ordered it and everything is so back-ordered, we're still waiting for it to come in. But with everything going on now, things are taking a little bit longer, customer service-wise. But if you do it online, it's probably better.
What I actually like to do is, for example, I had a garage door that broke and I didn’t realize that the warranty didn't cover the spring. It only covered the actual garage door opener. And once the guy showed up, even though it wasn't under warranty, I was able to at least fix it out of pocket. I didn't have to search for another person to come fix my garage door. So, that was good. Even if somebody shows up and it's not covered under warranty, then at least you have a mechanic that's right there that's already vetted, that you can potentially pay out of pocket.
For a while, we noticed the refrigerator was getting a lot of frost on the inside and we couldn't figure it out. It has an automatic ice maker on it, and when you push that lever, it opens up a flapper that allows the ice to come out. It keeps the hot air from going into the refrigerator through the opening for the ice. However, that flapper wasn't closing all the way. So the cold air and the hot air which was seeping in through that opening was causing the frost. Appliance Tech came out and they replaced it. It's good to go.

Our AC was not blowing any cold air. When the technician came out and checked the unit, there was some switch on the outside unit that was bad and that the compressor out there was not kicking on. It took him about an hour 'cause he was troubleshooting some switches and was trying to cool down that compressor outside. But once that all happened, it was up and going. He got repaired that day. And I've been having cold air ever since. I like the coverage from American Home Shield 'cause it's a heck of a lot cheaper to just pay the deductible than it is to replace my stuff myself. Also the monthly payment I make to American Home Shield is not that expensive.

Flash Garage Door's tech was very professional and timely. It went great. The other call, not so much. It's still pending, yet Home Shield is charging me. The contractor came out for plumbing issues, and then they didn't write toilet and faucet and the other thing, and then they tried to charge me another service fee because they left something off the order and it's still pending. It's still not fixed. They didn't have my contract right and they said, "Oh, you don't have faucets on your coverage," which I do.
There are some people that are on the call that are incompetent about the contract. The biggest issue I've had is I've spent eight hours on hold in the last week. And I have it all documented, trying to get somebody on the phone. On the portal, you can't send any message or file a complaint. You can't send anything. And I've still got a pending $75 service charge for a call that was the same people, the same day. They sent him back out there, and then they tried to bill me three different times for the same thing.
I went to the contracts department and got a gentleman by the name of Terrence on the phone and had to explain to him that it's in my contract. He said, "Well, these are all confusing and you've had this for a long time. And that's why we don't sell this kind of contract anymore, 'cause it's confusing." And I said, "Confusing for who, 'cause I understand it. It's written right here." I spend almost $100 a month yet they told me that they don't cover a leaky faucet.
It's always an ongoing fight about what's covered and what's not. I said there was a leak but I don't know if it was from my toilet, or my faucet, or the tub. I need them to come check it. And if it's not specifically written, then you have to go back and say, "Make sure they check the toilet, the faucet." It just says "leak". So, it's not fixed. And then, I pay for three water heaters and you have to say, "Which one?" But I don't know because I'm not the one in the attic looking at it. I don't know which one it is. You have to be specific.
They have to do a recall on the order and then they try to charge me again. It's too much money. If it's not, then it's not. I wasn't sure where it was coming from, but there were two notes that said "leak", and I specifically said that. So, Home Shield had to send somebody else out. And the guy was there, but we waited an hour on the phone and he would've covered it, but he couldn't get anybody on the phone to say, "Hey, I've got to check all three of these. We're not sure where it's from." So, he had to come back and he said, "I'll stay in the area 'cause I've got another call and I'll come back out, but they have to dispatch me." He was nice. He had to have the okay. So, Home Shield is trying to charge another fee for the same thing he was coming out for, and he was already there. I already paid it once, so I'm not paying $150.
I was so impressed with how fast the garage people came and how he fixed it and how well it went. I've never had a call go that smoothly. But two calls on order, and then it took a week for a plumber to come, even when I said it was urgent, and then it's still ongoing. And then, they can't come back out until next week. But I'm still getting emails every day saying, "You're delinquent on your service fee", which Home Shield charges before anybody comes out. So, I pay my monthly bill. It's ongoing, yet somebody didn't detail everything to check or one toilet wasn't written on there.
Aside from that, I bought appliances and I'm still out probably $4,000 in appliances that I haven't been paid back for. I've submitted receipt after receipt and I still don't have the money. I've paid for several washing machines, an oven, a refrigerator, yet still don't have the money back. This has been going on for two years. I've had a lot of health stuff and I haven't looked into it, but my contract is up in August so unless something changes, I don't know if I will continue to have Home Shield especially because I'm out that money and because of the last issue with the plumbing. I'm very unhappy right now.

Accu-Air came and handled the issue that I was having. There was a misunderstanding between me and the lady that I talked to about it because it's still not working very well and I called them back again. The tech was supposed to come back, but he never came back. It seems like my air conditioner fans that were working and not working have been working for the past couple of days, but it goes off and on. That was the reason I called because my air conditioning was not working at all.
I told the lady it’s part of the furnace. I figured when I say furnace, they know that because you will think you want the furnace in the wintertime. But since the air conditioner’s part of the furnace, I told the tech that my furnace is not working very well. My house is hot. My fan doesn't kick on. They just checked the furnace itself and never checked the air conditioner outside. I called that guy because he called me so I called him back and said it’s just not working very well. He told me, “Well, it’s a different problem.” He was supposed to be here last week. He asked me to change a part, and I told him, “Well, if I change a part, are you gonna pay me? Because I pay the insurance.” He said, “Well, that's up to your insurance.” I told him I'm not going to change anything because that's what he's getting paid for.
I've been with Home Shield since September of last year. I've never had insurance before but since I've had the insurance, I've had a lot of things go out. All my other claims with American Home Shield have been great. They have great people to work with it. The air conditioner guy is great to work with too but he’s too busy and doesn’t have time to drive 100 miles to my house because we live pretty far from anybody. That kinda makes it hard for people to show up. We have local people in town but they're not part of Home Shield, which I wish they were, and it’ll be probably a lot easier.
Home Shield’s really good at what they do. But one thing they should do is as soon as they get the report back that the guy showed up already, they need to call the customer right away to confirm that what the company’s telling them is correct to what I'm going to tell them. When the tech came to my house, he said, “Oh, the filter was dirty.” I already knew it was dirty but that was not the problem. He recommended for my ducts to be cleaned, and I got them cleaned right away within three days later. Then I called and said, “Hey, dude. My stuff’s still doing the same thing.” He said it's a different issue. I said, “No, it's not. It was doing the same thing. It's doing the same exact stuff that when you told me that you were gonna recommend for me to clean my air ducts, and I did it and it's still doing the same thing.”
I went out there and powered it down for a couple days and let my house be hot, and it was hot. I turned it back on and it seems like it's working now again, but it's not okay. He told me that it could be two things, but he wanted me to buy the part. I'm not gonna buy any part. That’s why I pay insurance and the $100 deductible. I already made the appointment. Home Shield's customer service ought to be calling us. When they made the appointment, they should be calling us within three business days after those guys came to our house. The job's not done. That's should not be my job. I can fix my air conditioner. I'm electrician but I paid for this so they should come and do it. They should be calling the customer to make sure the customer is satisfied.

I have had good service from the contractors that came out recently. They were great and very professional. They had to check my disposal and the water heater that's in the attic. The seller of my home had an inspection and there were some repairs made, about $150 worth. But since I've been here and we moved in April, I had to have the water heater lit the fourth time. But when the gentleman came out to check it after we had to light it twice, he said he just had to light it two more times, and I thought, I put my notice in and I just didn't know how that was gonna work. So I called AHS today and they said that, "You have a long wait. If you'd like to leave your name and number, we'll call you back."
I would recommend AHS for anyone that's selling a home. But my only concern now is that it's best to have more than one thing go wrong, because each time they come out for just one thing, it's $75. They have to be able to say, "Yes, it's broken," or "It can be repaired," or "It can be replaced." I had my disposal replaced because it was scary. When you turn it on, you would jump. The blades were just horrible but it worked so it's hard to know if it's broken. When I sold my other house, I definitely had an American Home Shield on the contract.

That recent experience with American Home Shield was not very good. My air conditioning was not working. We pay a hundred dollars for someone to come and look at the equipment and I did that. The man came and said, “We have to take the coil out, take it to the shop, and it takes 10 days or so to find out if it's repairable or not.” I live at temperature of 110, 115 degrees in Southern California. He said the only way I could get it quickly is to buy the whole unit so I had no choice. I was placed in the corner.
We called Home Shield. The guy said, “That’s our policy. We have to take it to the shop and see if it’s repairable. If it’s not repairable, then we will change it. We can’t change it now.” I asked how do I live in temperature of 115 degrees without air conditioning and he said that was not their problem. I had to pay for a new unit out of pocket and they also charged me $100 for the man to come in who didn’t do anything. I have 2 houses and one is in another place. That one was much better. They took care of my problem reasonably well. This one was a disaster. Home Shield has to be a little bit sensitive about the customer's need. How do they expect me to live in 115 degrees temperature without air conditioning while they could have changed that coil quickly in a day rather than having it brought to the shop and sit there for 10 days to test it. I felt that it was really inhumane.
The thing that bothered me was that I was pushed to pay $3,000 out of pocket for a new unit because they didn’t give me any other option. They didn't even agree to pay back that $100 that I paid for this guy to come in. He didn't do anything in terms of working on my air conditioning. There was no service. $100 compared to $3,000 is nothing but I thought that there was no principle in there. My son was very upset about that. He made multiple calls and talked to Home Shield about this issue but they just didn't care. I have this kind of policy for this kind of situation. If it doesn't work in this kind of situation, why do I pay them a year to expect them to help me when I need help.

But the air conditioner, which American Home Shield installed here last year, was not adequate to cool my house. My old air conditioner which they replaced would cool the house down and then shut off, but this new one wouldn't. The guy did whatever he could, but it would still not work. It seems like it takes a while for things to get going. We have been without air conditioning since June 22. AAction was not the first company to come out. We have two air conditioning units. We first had a leak. We called American Home Shield and they had a company come out and the company was horrible. They wanted to charge us $1,900 over what American Home Shield would pay. We told American Home Shield that we wanted a second opinion.
We had to wait until the second opinion came, so we're still out of air conditioning. The second opinion came. They took a completely different approach, and they said that they would run dye through it and give us refrigerant. What we didn't like is that when the first company came, the air conditioning was at least running, but it was leaking. They shut it off in the middle of summertime and we went for like a full seven days with zero air. When the other company came, they said, “Okay, let's run dye through it and find out exactly where the leak is. It's not our company policy to just up and wanna fix something. Let's see what’s leaking,” which was cool.
The guy told us, “If it starts to become less cool, call us back.” We called them back. We called American Home Shield, I put in a work order, and then shortly a day or so after I put in a work order for them to come back, we had a situation where the blower for the other air conditioning unit caught on fire. So I had to put in another work order. So somehow the original work order and the second work order got confused. I don't know if this was American Home Shield’s issue or if it was AAction Air’s issue. But we were sitting here with no air conditioning being told that parts were being ordered. Finally after sitting there for two more weeks without air conditioning, I said, “Okay, so when is everything going to be ordered? You know, we have the upstairs situation, we have the downstairs situation.”
The lady on the phone said, “You know, downstairs, we were just ordering one part.” So now, me and my husband and kids are at a resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We took a trip because we couldn't stay in a house anymore. We've had American Home Shield for 20 years. We've never had an air conditioning situation for this amount of time. This is the first time we've run into a situation like this. But AHS need to do better with communication so that everybody knows everything that's going on. There needs to be a way to put a rush on things, too. It shouldn't have to go this long.

With AHS, I just go online to submit a claim and say what I want. However, there is no option for appliance maintenance. So sometimes, I gotta make something up. If AHS would offer maintenance to prevent future problems and charge money for it, that would be really awesome. Recently, I thought that I needed more Freon and I submitted a claim. AHS sent Liberty Plumbing, Heating, & AC and the tech from there came promptly. He found an outstanding issue which I didn't know about. He told me about it and said that he had the part on hand. It took him 10 minutes to fix things.

I've been with American Home Shield for 13 years. I was off for a little bit then I came back. As for their claims process, everything is mostly driven online. You still can talk to a customer service representative but the hold time is a little bit longer now. The difference is instead of them getting the $35 copay at the time of service, they have you go and pay for it, which I think is okay. It confirms that you do need that service call. Once you submit the claim, within 24 hours you'll get a call from that particular service that it's routed to, whatever your problem is. Greenway has been with American Home Shield for a long time. Ever since I have been with them, Greenway has been pretty much the go-to service techs or company that sends technicians out when it comes to dryer, washer, and air. Once the representatives set it up, the contractors come out within a couple of days if not same day if they have an opening.
Recently, I filed a claim for the compressor. I have an older unit that uses freon. The service and labor were covered and I was responsible for the thermometer and the freon. They paid $10 towards it. It was a total of 125 a pound and I needed 9 pounds. That’s the only part that you hate when you have these major fixes. You would love for most of it to be covered because you pay every month. But it was so worth it knowing that we're at 105 heat index here. American Home Shield is doing good. They also send a survey out to you after the services have been rendered. They're very thorough.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

American Home Shield sent Best Care Home Services for an air conditioning issue. Water was backing up on the system. It wasn't flowing through the pipe. It was stopped up. I got a upstairs unit and when I pulled my filter out, the water was standing right there. When I went into the little closet where the system is at, there was water on the ground right there in the little pan. I did the claim online and I liked the AHS site. The guy who came was very early. I got an email and I was able to follow him to the house. He explained what was going on and everything. I'm not worried about leaving the unit on now. There's no over-flooding. I love working with AHS. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna use them again.

Our air conditioner wasn't cooling properly and a guy from J&K came out and cleaned it, put a new contactor on there because the contactor was bad, and then he went through the whole thing and serviced it. He said the contactor was cutting in and out and that was why it wasn't working. I did the claim to American Home Shield online via the website. It worked good. The only thing is it had me call the tech instead of them call me. But that was not a problem. Having American Home Shield is definitely worth the money.

Originally we had failure of our air conditioning unit. The first guy came out and cleaned it up, both inside and outside more obviously, but found the problem, took care of it, and hooked up some power from in the house to run the circuit board. He told me he could come back another time with a new board. Replaced that. Everything was great. His service was excellent. Two guys came out the second time just to replace the board. Everything works great. We've had Home Shield for 20 years or so. Why fix something that's not broken? The rates are reasonable. We don't use them all the time, but when we do, usually it has nothing to do with Home Shield if we have any issues. It's usually with who comes out and whoever fixes it or doesn't fix it. Otherwise, Home Shield been great.

We tried to get our air conditioning fixed. It was the middle of summer and it was gonna take too long that's why we had to end up buying a new one. Then we went out and got American Home Shield. They do a good job. I usually have no problem with them. A while back, they kept sending someone to try to fix my washing machine, and it was like 4 times. I got on the phone and told them, "I'm going to the laundromat. This costs a lot of money." They cut me a gift card that following week so I could buy a new one.
Recently, Altra Pools fixed the pump. Then I had a water leak in the plumbing underground so I had to give an extra $600 to get the pump that was on there replaced because it was shot. They were nice and courteous. I liked them. They're good guys. They showed me where the pool was all locked up. They explained everything they were going through and showed me everything. I don't do pools, but I do other kind of pumps. I didn't notice it was shot. They weren't trying to get over on me. They even rewired my thing for me with no charge. It's just a couple of screws, but they went beyond. Everything is perfect right now. It's hot out here and we can swim.

The air conditioner kept on freezing up. Air Max Heating and Cooling came out and they cleaned the first time, which they said it probably needed further cleaning. The second time, they had to put a capacitor in and then they come back out. The guy said that in order for us to do things, they had to remove the A coil, and they said it'd be cheaper to replace that than to remove it and put it back. They did a good job and were very courteous. The repair makes my girlfriend comfortable as she's got cancer. I'm happy. They would come out on Sunday so that they could get the air conditioning working so they've done an excellent job.

American Home Shield had DT Electric come out for an issue I had and I wasn't happy with them. I asked the tech to look at two plugs but he looked at only one. I had an electrical issue. I took the plug off myself and the wall plate. The reason that I took the wall plate off was because a week before this happened, a house behind me, like three down, caught on fire. I was sitting here watching TV and a couple of my things went out for no reason. I got up and went over. One of them was a decorative tray and I unplugged it and I noticed that one of my plugs was not working. The top one worked but the bottom one didn't.
I undid the wall plate and when I did, the plug fell out at me. It was not secure in the wall when I took the wall plate off. The plug was supposed to stay in the wall. I knew that it wasn't right. Plus, I could see copper wires. You're not supposed to see that. It's supposed to be insulated. That scared me that was why I called American Home Shield. But all the tech did was stick a tester in there then said that according to his tester, both plugs were working. When I plug my stuff in and it does not work, I don't care if the tester is working or not. If my appliances aren't working in the plug, it doesn't work. Plus, when I take a wall plate off and the plug literally falls out at me and I can see copper wires, without any installation, there's a problem.
The guy just pushed it back in, put the screws in it, put the plate back on, stuck his tester in that one plug, and repeated, "See, according to my tester, it works." That's not good enough and that really upset me. He didn't even look at the other plug when I asked that he look at two. I paid my money and as far as I'm concerned, he did as much as I did. He didn't do anything. He didn't change the plug out. I told him that copper wires were showing there which was not right. I used to be a builder too. But if you're a woman, you just get laughed off about that. Regarding the copper wires I pointed out, the guy said it was just the ground plug and it didn't mean anything. But that was not true. I wasn't happy with it at all.
I'm really frightened about the plugs and with my house burning down on me. I've had two strokes and that disabled me from working. I got run over on the interstate one evening and got my neck broken. Now, I only have one arm. I have a real hard time. I'm paying money and I just want somebody honest to come over here and help. But I don't like some of the people that American Home Shield sends out. There were really bad people from them.

Our sewer backed up so we called American Home Shield. They sent K & S and they snaked it out and cleared it out. They said, “You don’t know until you get a camera in there, but there may be roots in there.” The next day, it clogged up again. We called American Home Shield and they said, “Well, they said there are roots in there so we can’t pay to do it.” I told them, “They didn’t say that. They said they don’t know until someone puts a camera in there and looks at it.” So, they set up another appointment. This was on a Friday. They said they’d be out here Monday. On Monday, American Home Shield canceled the appointment like 15 minutes before it. We had to call and fight with them. Then they said they'd send someone out on Friday.
Friday comes along. Five minutes before the appointment, they canceled it again and they said, “Well, we’re not gonna send someone out ‘cause of the root problem.” We paid somebody to come out on a Saturday to clean it up, and after they cleared it up, they ran a camera through there and what it was is AT&T had bored their fiber optic line through our sewer pipe. We sat a whole week with everything on our carpet and our tile. If they weren’t gonna send anybody out, they could have canceled on Monday and I could have had someone come out Tuesday instead of waiting the whole week. People we talked to were no help at all. Also, not knowing if there is an underlying problem like what happened, American Home Shield just took it upon themselves to say that the root was the problem. I’ll never use them ever again. It was a horrible experience.

North Wind Heating and Air was excellent. They were professional, friendly and quick. They fixed the AC unit and it wasn't quite right. Something else went wrong within hours of them being here. They came back within an hour and fixed it. American Home Shield is great. They're working on other items in our house. I had been a member years ago then I decided I needed it again. I was able to afford it and I thought it was worthwhile to get it now that I can. I'm very happy that I did.
On my refrigerator repair, they could have called me and told me what that first contractor said instead of me having to call and find out what was going on. I thought my parts were being ordered, and the whole time, they weren't. The first company that serviced my fridge submitted incorrect information saying my husband had taken apart the fridge which was completely untrue. It also took two weeks for them to come out. If they're too busy to service, they should say, “I'm too busy so I can't book anybody.”
Finally, I called American Home Shield and they said they were sorry. The customer service person did a great job when I talked to her. So that was very helpful too. She made me feel better about the whole situation since she resolved it. They sent somebody else and the second company came out within two days of me calling. Too bad it wasn’t him that was called the first time. Now, I'm waiting on the part for my fridge. It looks like it's being taken care of.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

The technician from United Appliance made it appear that the home owner is negligent in maintaining his appliance. He kind of put the home owner responsible for the maintenance and we don't like that. He was giving the home owner a hard time. He said, "You have to go to claim again because of this problem." We got tired of it, so we got a different appliance. We were having issues with the washer and we were not aware that there is something underneath that has to be cleaned quite often. I'm not even aware of such thing. He tried to take pictures of it, and he said, "You have to pay another $70." My son doesn't want to do that. So, he just wanted to get another washer. That is not a good thing for United Appliance to be doing. Also, according to American Home Shield, we have to pay another service fee to have a second opinion. It's something that we are disappointed with.

I'm very familiar with the Joe Lay & Sons company. I've known him for years. When I saw that name come up when I had a plumbing issue, I knew I was gonna get good service. It was almost disappointing how easy the fix actually was. They just tightened the pipe and they didn't use a tool to do that. We have a friend whose parents and herself use American Home Shield and they've been very happy with them so we figured we'd give it a shot. It's been great so we haven't stopped it.
It's $70 a month for my home, which is $840 a year, which seems like a lot. But if in the case of the actual plumbing backing up into the basement, that would be at least $400 just for them to show up after hours. Fixing the shower wasn't an emergency thing, so they came back the following day for that. I would've been out probably at $600 in one sitting to have that done so paying $70 a month to be covered for that was fine. The only issue I had with them is that when something's going bad in the house and calling during an off-hour, I'd get a call center and may have to call a couple of times to get somebody to move everything through correctly. But aside from that, it gets done.

He said that he wouldn't be able to open up the wall and he would get in touch with American Home Shield but nobody got in touch with us. I finally called American Home Shield and somebody put a note in saying that none of this stuff was covered. I talked to a young lady and she said it is covered and that somebody would give me a call back. Nobody has called me back and it's been 8 days.
The contractors that have been coming out lately are fine. However, I don't see the need of me sitting for 7 hours waiting for somebody to come. It was from 12pm to 7pm. I went to work and came back home and I could've stayed at work all day long. He didn't get here until 6:15. But overall, American Home Shield has been fine. As far as submitting my claims, it's so hard to get their customer service right now with COVID, so I usually do it online. Sometimes the service contractor is not available. Today, I tried to change it to another contractor. It took me almost two hours to wait for the customer service, but overall, they're doing their best. The website is pretty good, too. American Home Shield is a very solid company and they're doing their best to serve the client. I feel like most of the contractors are very professional. My dishwasher went out and American Home Shield sent LA Appliances seven times but the tech couldn't fix it. I had to wait for weeks for them to come out then the tech would tell me he didn't have the stuff to fix it. He took the dishwasher apart and ordered so many different parts he put in there, and it still wasn't working. He got an attitude and told me it should come in in another 2 or 3 weeks. It was ridiculous. I told them they're not that good of a vendor and I didn't wanna use them anymore.
American Home Shield called Monzon Appliances. When Monzon came out, the first thing the tech said was the circuit needed to be changed. He said he had to call American Shield and order the part. Then he put it in and fixed it just like that, one time. But my dishwasher went out again recently. I called and requested Monzon because at least their guy knew what was wrong and was able to fix it while the other company never did and tried to blame it on me. The tech from Monzon came out and told me, "This time, it is bad. I can't fix it at all." He requested for it to be replaced.
Selecting the replacement was a mess. They sent me a text and a list of different choices. I chose one that they would cover and they told me it was 2 weeks later that it would be delivered to my house. Monzon called me that day that it was supposed to be delivered. The guy said, "I got a text telling me that it's gonna be delivered to your house today. I'm gonna install it." However, I got a text that this other company was gonna install it. He said "No, just call and let me know when it gets in and I'll come." The day went by but nothing was delivered.
I got on the phone with American Shield and it took me 2 and a half hours. I was on hold for an hour and a half then when I got a girl, she said she couldn't help me and she was gonna send me to the department for the appliances. Then she said the phone lines were down and there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to a supervisor but she said they didn't have any available. I finally got somebody the next day. They said the one I chose wasn't available and Whirlpool wouldn't be able to ship it to them until August the 20th. They said that because of COVID, Whirlpool was not manufacturing as many as they would previously. I told them to send me the payback so I could pick out something different and they said they couldn't do that. If I wanted to go and purchase one, they'd send me a check for $400. I said I didn't wanna purchase one. I wanted them to send me the one that I chose or either they let me pick another one. So now, I'm waiting.
Customer service is not good and American Home Shield needs to improve on it. When I complain too much and ask for a supervisor, I mysteriously get cut off and I've already been on the phone for an hour and a half. What I've learned to do is when I call at the beginning of the conversation I ask the rep their name so I can write it down. It is really critical that they have good vendors that will make them look good. They really are gonna lose a lot of business with their customer service. One my best friends had American Home Shield and she left. After her experience with her water heater that broke, she didn't want to use them. Also, a friend of mine called me last week and asked me about American Home Shield. I told her she's gotta find somebody else.

If possible I would give negative stars. This company should be sued. It has no problem taking money every month for services but when it’s time to file a claim it’s impossible to get coverage. I pay for my AC unit, appliances and pool to be covered. Every time they someone out for my AC unit they try and say there is pet damage then I have to file a dispute only for the second company to say the original company was wrong. AHS won’t cover pet damage on an AC unit and use that excuse a lot. In addition clear in May I filed a claim for my built in Microwave and dryer. The dryer went out again less than a month later and I was supposed to receive a new microwave and still haven’t got it. Friday I was on hold for over three hours for the lady to tell me I needed to be transferred to a different department for me to be disconnected and today I’ve been on hold for over 5 and a half hours. By far the worst company I have ever experienced.

I submitted a claim over a week ago for my washing machine that is broken. The first vendor that offered to send couldn't come out for at least 2 weeks and I couldn't even reach them when I tried to call them back. The phone number at Express Appliance couldn't even connect me to somebody, it kept hanging up. I called AHS a second time and asked them to find me a new vendor, which they did. However, this vendor never showed up because he was sick. During the current COVID situation, I did not want him near my house. The next time I called them to explain this, they said they'd find me a new vendor, however they waited 3 days to find me someone. This vendor was very sketchy and only had 1 star Google and Facebook. So I finally cancelled the whole claim.
Each time I've tried to call AHS to have them service my claim I've had to wait over an hour. I've counted 8x that I've had to call, which is 8 hours of my life I will never get back and my washing machine is STILL BROKEN. I pay $58 a month for absolutely no service, plus they took my $81 service fee and have not returned it when I cancelled the claim. I'd love to talk to someone at a supervisor level to get this settled, but I can't get ahold of anyone. I'm ready to cancel, but they have no place to even cancel their policy. My next step is going to be to contact the BBB and a lawyer. I never thought they would actually steal my money!

#1 Clear your schedule because you will be on hold at least 1-2 hours. And never request for them to call you back. It will NEVER happen.
#2 Every customer service employee is trained to say "this will be submitted for review and should receive an answer in 24-48 hours. Been well over a week and still no answer.
#3 You are going to pay a bunch of money for a policy. When they do actually fix something it is only something like 4 screws. Everything else is NOT COVERED. With the amount I pay for a policy in 1 year would easily cover any service I've needed to date.
#4 If the technician does not say EXACTLY what your contract says, forget it! They will not approve anything. My Salt Water Pool broke and the tech wrote the "System" needs replaced vs. Listing each part. I've been on the phone (95% on hold) and same answer. "We will submit for review. Should take 24-48 hours)."
#5 "AMERICAN" Home Shield. I have not spoke to anyone American yet. Every person I've spoke to is from the Philippines.
Bottom line, find a better company. This is the biggest scam ever!!! I want my money back.

I am now on hold for 45 minutes, without AC for 15 days in the heat of the summer, and the contractor has had the equivalent equipment on their shelf for the duration of this miserable experience. AHS refuses to use the brand new equipment, and instead insists on sending equipment. Spend a dollar to make a dime, and have a family of 6 suffer for over two weeks. What are we paying for????

We had our central air conditioning system go out at midnight, while under heat advisories in TX. For the viewers we have a heat index in place the entire week ranging between 105-112. I called Home Shield within 10 minutes of knowing system was down. I got a timely response they assigned case to a local vendor. I called the vendor with number provided about 1230am, I knew they were closed but wanted to ensure they knew this was an emergency. I did receive a timely message at 0720am that they had us on the schedule three days later between 0800am and 500pm central time.
I made an attempt via text with vendor to move time up as we were in an emergency, although professional on text the vendor said they could not adjust time but put us on the cancellation list and was told to contact warranty company. I then spent 90 minutes on two calls trying to speak to someone from American Home shield. I finally had a very polite lady answer. After explaining our situation she said she'd call vendor.
After a brief hold I was given the same time the vendor offered during initial call, I asked the agent to please find another vendor to come as we will have to leave house due to heat, medical conditions, and pets in house, simply an unsafe environment. She advised me they have no other vendors and she's following protocols. I asked to speak to a supervisor, manager, or escalations department which was met with sorry we have no one you can speak to. Out of curiosity it didn't sound like she knew much about the area so I asked where was she located, she advised me she was in the Philippines. I then advised her this was unsatisfactory at so many levels and that I would be writing a poor review on this process.
Due to the professionalism of the assigned vendor I will withhold their name as they have been professional and spoken to me on the phone apologizing for the inability to get here sooner. I did advise them I was writing AHS up with hopes things would be better from their end. We were advised to consider go buy a portable AC or window unit from Home Depot, Lowes etc. or a hotel.

Like any other Home Shield contractor, Clutch Appliance Repair did a great job. They eventually fixed everything that was needed, so I would recommend them to my mother-in-law. Clutch didn't take long to fix the issue. They came to my house multiple times, but they made sure when I said, "Hey, it's still not working," they said, "No problem." They rescheduled for another day and came out, and then they eventually fixed the problem. I understand that some things can be fixed the first time, but not everything can be fixed the first time, especially when it comes to dishwashers and fridges because those things can have multiple mechanisms in there.
Filing the claim to Home Shield was super easy. I always do it online when I do it. The people from Home Shield are really helpful most of the time. I haven't had any big complaints with them. We actually dropped American Home Shield for a while because we didn't realize the payment wasn't going through, and that was like a cascade effect. It was too much to pay all at once, and then we said, "We'll just cancel it." Then a few months later, I said, "You know, let's get Home Shield again.” Life is complicated sometimes, and American Home Shield helps reduce that complication.
We had a dryer that was messed up. The only drawback is the time it takes for them to come out and do a repair for like a washer and dryer. That speed's not there. To me, if you have a house, you have critical systems that need to be kept up all the time. When American Home Shield's contractors are very slow to respond or to come out, especially for air conditioning, that's where they fall short a little bit. But they do have a thing where you can have your own technician come out and pay for it and they reimburse it.

My toilet was clogged. I went online and submitted a claim. The AHS website was cool and pretty simple. I got a response the same day from the actual contractor, Honesty Mechanical. I wasn't available that day so they scheduled it for the next day. The guy was phenomenal and swift. The service was good.

When I came to Texas in 2007 and I bought a house, the first company I had was American Home Shield. I changed it to another company because of the price increases, but I decided to go back and so far, so good. I like it and I also recommend it. Recently, they sent BW Electric and they were excellent. They sent me something directly to ask me something. The tech also took a look in different areas of the unit and he immediately went outside to fix the unit’s situation. He changed the electrical part for the new one and he did everything correctly. The air conditioner is working properly right now.

We heard a loud pop and saw that our garage door spring had pulled loose from the wall and gone up into our ceiling. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and they responded to me right away. The email I got after I submitted my request gave me the information on the contractor and the opportunity to contact them directly if I wanted to. I contacted them and the guy from Reliable Garage Doors got back to me. Their techs were at my place the next day and they fixed the spring. They did a great job and I was very happy.

We had a zone downstairs and a zone upstairs and the downstairs one stopped working. It happened on a Friday afternoon. I filed a claim with Home Shield and Next Generation came out the following week. They figured out that it was a bad thermostat and replaced it. There was one time, I tried to do something online, but for whatever reason, I couldn't so I called. But it was fine. Home Shield does what I want it to do

I live in Florida and New Jersey and that's where I am now in the summer. In New Jersey, a couple who I know had the air conditioning go. One of the people I know here said they had a furnace go. I was concerned about it and talked to someone here. He said he has American Home Shield. He also said they cover everything. I didn't get it for New Jersey ‘cause I left but I bought it instead when I got down to Florida.
We bought a house a number of years ago. It had this beautiful sink, kind of an antique type sink with this nice faucet which started leaking. The contractor came and said I had to replace the cartridge in the tank. They had to order the cartridges and had it delivered to my house. It came in about 4 days and they came and installed it. I was very pleased with them. The Cascade guy was very good. He's a nice guy and very professional. He figured out what was wrong almost immediately. Unlike most plumbers, he was a very neat guy. He did exactly what he said.

I have American Home Shield for years and years. Sometimes, they do something and sometimes, they say, "No, there is nothing to do. Everything is working great." We end up going with somebody else outside and try to get a second opinion. Sometimes, we fix it through other sources other than American Home Shield. American Home Shield is pretty good but unfortunately, sometimes when they hire certain people that are not willing to go the extra mile to do the job or have a certain limitation because they're not gonna be paid in full by the company, they kind of come up with some kind of convincing results and just get off the job. I think that's very common in the market.
Recently, South Cooling came out and said that the AC unit is working fine. So, they didn't do anything to it. The house wasn't cooling enough. He said it was because the temperature was too high and that's the maximum potency of the machine. I have air conditioning in my other property. Outside usually it's 110 degrees. It cycles on and off. But this one, it doesn't cycle on and off. It just keeps going straight and the bill went off the roof.

My dryer wouldn't come on. If we push the button to start it, nothing happens. I filed the claim through my app and I love that app. However, I clicked through the link. I think I created an online account then I just did it online and they assigned a company to come out. Tucker Appliance Repair sent someone then he contacted me before he got there. I wasn't at home at the time, my daughter was there and she had high remarks. She thought the guy was very great, professional, courteous, and fixed it very quickly. The repair made our lives much easier. We went from hanging all of our laundry on a hanger to dry to being able to do everything in one day. American Home Shield has been great so far. I'm so happy that I decided to go with them. I am a first time, solo home owner and I needed it for a sense of peace of mind in case things went wrong.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Customer service representative from AHS reached out to me after my original review. I was given a direct link to someone at AHS throughout the remainder of my repairs and was able to get all my issues resolved. I would highly recommend to AHS that they offer that kind of one on one representative service for all issues that cannot be resolved before it reaches the point I was in. I appreciate they honored their warranty service in the end.

I don't know that American Home Shield uses the most quality vendors because both of my issues that I've been dealing with, with the air care and the first one, are still unresolved and they've been ongoing since June. Good Guys has been out twice now and the issue is still not resolved, so they'll be coming back for a third time. The guy was supposed to hopefully be coming back again today, which will make it a third visit. The first visit was the diagnosis and the second visit was an install that didn't quite finish. I kinda had to fuss a lot to get somebody back out the next day.
American Home Shield has always been nice to talk to. I'm really surprised because I heard nightmares about home warranty complaints. Now, it takes an hour for them to answer the phone, but I'm sure that's everybody right now. Once you get them, they have always been very easy to work with. But as far as vendors, I would call my own people in a heartbeat if I could.
I found out last night that if you get into a situation like I'm in right now where it's kinda been a nightmare with my air, I could use my own. If theirs completely failed and I raised a fit, I can use my own, but I cannot to start off with. Otherwise, I would've never used any of their people. The people they send out are all nice. I just don't think the quality is there. Overall, AHS is still a good investment, but you need to go into it ahead that it's gonna be some work, and I didn't realize that.
