The claim process was fine. Sometimes it takes a long time for an answer, but everything else is great. My interactions were very good when I finally get through to a Home Shield rep. When my bathroom sink was stopped up or something happened in it, Affordable Rooter came out and did a great job. Everything with them went well.

I have a claim for my oven where AHS sent out Best Western Appliances. The techs did the best they could. They ended up ordering me a new one and it's coming. It's just that everything's backed up right now. But they have done a great job. Though it took a long wait to get somebody on the phone, it was only because of the COVID thing.

One of our outside faucets in the backyard wasn't turning on properly and it wasn't doing anything on its own. We would have to turn on the water inside the house for it to send any water outside. The contractor made it so that we could turn the water on and off outside. Also, the water sprayer in our kitchen sink was broken. We need to get a part from Moen for that so they couldn't fix it directly. But the contractor was good and the service went well. It was our first call to American Home Shield and my wife sent in the request online. It was simple for her to figure out. It has been a good experience so far with AHS.

I called American Home Shield when my dishwasher wasn't working. They were nice but you shouldn't wait an hour and 15 minutes to have somebody pick up the phone to take your claim. It was really awful. They should spend some money and get a few more operators. But the technician was fabulous. He was early, which I love. He knew exactly how to fix it. He fixed it and it worked great after he was done.

I like American Home Shield enough although I had a payment issue. It’s paid for through my escrow but they kept telling me that I had this overdue payment. They finally got that taken care of and the technician came out and he did a great job. But they leave you absolutely zero information on payment. You ask the guy and he goes, “Oh, I don't take payments. They take payments.” He doesn't tell me anything about how they take payment. They did not send me anything. What they sent me was a urgent past due notice. Nobody likes to get an urgent past due notice. I hate that. The guy came two weeks ago but he didn't take the payment. So American Home Shield sent me something asking me to pay. I'm a novice and this is the first time I've had American Home Shield in 20 years. I don't even know how they do it anymore. Their payment and customer service is really not good.

My air conditioner stopped and wasn't working. And the outside unit wasn't spinning at all. I went to ahs.com to make a service request and their site was great. It works. It's very simple and easy to use. They call me pretty quickly. Weatherwise was the contractor and they did a great job. I now have cold air in the house and I have a happy family. It's perfect. The house was miserable without the air conditioning. But I need to have Weatherwise come back. I have one more issue and I'm gonna have them look at. That's not related to why they were out the first time though. American Home Shield is great. This was our second time using them. I truly recommend it to anybody I know.

In general, we've had American Home Shield a long time and they've done a lot of service for us. It's been very good because we're getting older and it's harder for us to call around to find somebody to do things. We just have to make one call and it's worked out well, except for one occurrence when we had problems with our dryer. That was never resolved. After trying to fix what was wrong, four different visits, I kept waiting for American Home Shield to make an offer about replacing the unit because it wasn't gonna get fixed. That never came about, so I just turned it off and bought a new dryer. Recently, I made a service request for a plumbing issue and F6 Plumbing came when they said they would. The first guy didn't have the piece of equipment he needed, and they immediately got somebody else and got the issue fixed very quickly.

There was an issue with our AC. I put in a claim with AHS and it was a pretty easy process. They got right on it. When I called both times, they sent somebody out and it was really fast. It was good customer service. Total Air Care came out twice. One time, they came out because our air stopped working. The guy put a capacitor on it and it worked. But I don't know if he did something with the blade as it came out completely off the next morning. It was over the weekend so I got one of my friends to come over to look at it. Other than that, they were pretty good and I was impressed.

The air condition wasn't blowing cold. The Rapp’s Heating & AC tech came out. He looked at it and looked at all the wiring on the outside unit, and then he replaced the capacitor and it has been working fine since. It used to be that the contractors would be there within 48 hours. No, they now can't get there within 48 to 72 hours. It’s always a week. Other than that, everybody Home Shield has ever sent has been good and get the issue fixed. When you do finally get them, they show up on time and they communicate if they're late. They do everything that they're supposed to do.

I submitted this claim for a hot water heater issue. The company, again, responded quickly and got a person out here. Their policy for replacing hot water heaters does not permit for the cost associated with doing some of the things that are necessary in order for it to follow the proper installation procedure required in the state. In order to properly install the hot water heater, we need to add an expansion tank. There is also a need to make an adjustment to the gas line that is going into the hot water heater. That's required legally in order for it to be a legal and proper install in the state.

However, American Home Shield will only pay for the actual hot water heater to be swapped out. Any backup things that are needed in order to make it permit compliant won't be covered in the cost. From my perspective as a homeowner, if you can't pay for it to be properly installed, then you're not paying for it. They need to align their policy for replacement to the requirements that are established for the state where the replacement needs to happen so that the funding for the replacement includes the things that are necessary in order for it to be compliant with the permit process in that state.

The contractors who came for our AC unit were very nice and didn’t dillydally. They got right to business. The AC seems to be working as of right now. The last time when our washing machine was on the fritz, AHS picked out one for us. It's GE and the one we had was Samsung. For some reason, that new washer, when my wife tries to wash with just cold water, we set it up to cold and it’s still hot. I don’t know what’s up with that thing. My wife and I are debating on renewing AHS, because they raised it almost $200 a year. But I don't know what it would have cost to just have the contractors come fix the air without going through the warranty.

We had a person from Myers come out to look at the air condition unit. He told me what I was gonna need but I wanted him to look at the one upstairs too. So he told me I would have to call back and place another work order. When I called, they charged me separately for each unit. I’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time so I know pretty much how it works. But I needed my air fixed and I didn't have time to go back and forth. So I had them come out and fix the one upstairs. They had to replace something on there. Myers also looked at the one in the bedroom and they gave me a quote. We would have to pay $1,500 to get it fixed. But I didn't hear from them after a few days, so I just got somebody outside to come in and fix it.

When I renewed with American Home Shield, they explained to me that they wouldn't just sell the warranty I had to regular homeowners. So I was under the impression I had everything in my entire house could be covered. But now certain things are not covered. On top of that, my service fee went up from $75 to $100 per service. So I’m going out my pocket getting my master bedroom fixed. But I went ahead and let them fix that one ‘cause they were paid for everything. At the time the guy was up there fixing that air conditioner, I saw a leak in my bathroom. My hot water tank was leaking down through the roof. I had too much going on dealing with American Home Shield, so I just paid for that out of pocket. So for me, I'm still spending too much money out of pocket to have the coverage.

We had an AC issue and AHS sent out Sweet Mountain Air Cooling & Heating. The guy did pretty well. I had another outfit out of about a week earlier and they solved a few minor problems in it and it was supposedly a little bit low on Freon. I was wanting to have him come out and see if there was anything that would be covered. They had it fixed before it went out altogether. He came out and looked at it and there was nothing he could do to it till something would happen with it. He just put in half a pound Freon and didn't charge me anything for it, whereas the other people that had checked the AC a week earlier just told me it was low on Freon.

I didn't know that it was a kind of maintenance. Of course, I live in Arizona where the temperature's 115 degrees. I'm not looking forward to wait until the AC goes all the way out to get it fixed if we know something's wrong with it although I can understand the policy that I can wait until after something breaks. But it's a fairly old air conditioner and it's gonna go one of these days. I'm trying to stay a step ahead of it if I can.

I don't know if that's AHS responsibility or not. I don't understand what's covered and what's not covered. I get a small little paper with little bitty type on there. It takes two weeks to read it all and then I don't understand it to begin with. AHS should try and make it to be a little bit more understandable as to what's covered and what's not, or whether something has to completely stop working for their services to be valid, or whether there's larger maintenance things that might help to alleviate some major problems later on down the road. Minor problems cause more major problems later. But I guess the coverage all depends on what a person is paying for. Overall, I'm relatively happy with the service so far.

I like American Home Shield. The thing I didn't like was when I called to try to put at least the two items in. I've been with American Home Shield since June of 2018. Prior to COVID, submitting claims has been easy and AHS has been quick to respond. Since the whole COVID thing, their responses have been delayed. They should look into whatever they can do to make their processes faster so people can get through instead of waiting for two hours. They could offer customers and businesses who are trying to get payments approved for parts they are giving us an option where they will call back when they're available so people don't have to stay on hold.

Recently, I had an issue with my sump pump and water was backing up into my laundry room. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent B&B Plumbing to handle it. They had to replace a motor but we were having issues getting through to AHS to speak to someone for the techs to do an add-on for a part. AHS's system wouldn't allow them to do that online. B&B kept contacting me to get a hold of American Home Shield to add that part on and it was supposed to be covered. The rep from B&B kept telling me she would be on hold for two hours trying to get through.

Other than this issue though, they have always been really good for me and I've always been satisfied with Home Shield. When I called them, the reps said that a technician had called regarding the add-on and it was approved. B&B provided great service. They got my issue fixed quickly. I had the problem at night and they were at my place by early afternoon the next day to fix it.

He told me he's been in the business for a long time and he knows the machines pretty much in and out, and that was the way I saw it. I've never had a problem with American Home Shield. I've had them for years and I've had people come out and make repairs. I've had no problem until now. My hot water heater went out and they got someone assigned right away that day. My water heater has to be replaced. It was A-1 Appliance Service that came five days ago but I haven't heard a word since. A hot water heater is a pretty big thing. It's an essential item.

I should've had a phone call from someone because the tech said he was gonna go back to his office and he was gonna talk to American Home Shield about my contract and what would be covered. I'm sure it would be covered. They're gonna replace it and not with an identical product. But I haven't heard from American Home Shield or anyone, whether it's going forward or I'm sitting here in limbo. They should return a phone call. There has to be follow-up. Ultimately, American Home Shield is the one responsible for the repair or a replacement of a suitable nature. But overall, they're a very good outfit. In fact, I recommended them to a friend of mine in Florida.

Updated on 09/09/2020: After our initial poor experience, a member of their retention team reached out to us to try to keep us as a client. It took them nearly 2 months to replace our refrigerator in the middle of the summer. Also, for a plumbing call the plumber arrived, but never completed the job. His office closed the call and said it was complete. The retention department offered to send them out again, and waive the dispatch fee if we allowed them this chance to "see the value" in their product. We reluctantly agreed.

The service provider came, and finished the job. At that point we were happy, and decided to give them a call again when our garbage disposal quit working. I submitted the work order for that call and paid the $100 dispatch fee on my debit card. The plumber returned and fixed our garbage disposal without any trouble. Shortly after we received a notice in the mail demanding payment for the service fee.

I have attempted several times to call their office to discuss this matter, however I am met with hold times well in excess of 2 hours. Who has time for that?!?! At the end of the day, we were duped and lied to again. We held up our end of of the agreement, but American Home Shield backed out. I am disgusted with my decision to allow them another opportunity to lie to us. Do not trust this company with your home. All they have done is lie to us, and give us false promises.

Unless you enjoy your time being wasted, being angry, frustrated, and being forced to self-manage claims by yourself as well as spend hours upon hours being stuck on hold. This company is an absolute joke, and disgrace to others who do a much better job. More often than not phone calls are routed to a foreign call center full of useless agents who do nothing but make false promises and blow smoke up your rear end. We had to wait more than 40 days for someone to finally approve to replace our refrigerator, and that was after spending more than 20 hours on the telephone with various people all over the globe apparently to get it to happen.

They also dropped the ball big time with service. We had issues with a toilet, two sinks, and two bath tubs. The provider they sent out told us he would return in a couple of days to replace one faucet. He never showed. I called 3 days later and AHS told us they reported we would purchase the faucet ourselves. (We never said that). He said we would have to pay an additional service call fee in order to have him fix the other faucets in the house.

In the rare occasions when you manage to get someone from their domestic call centers, they do manage to get things done. However, more often than not you are left dealing with incompetent fools who lie to your face. Your phone calls will never be returned, emails unanswered, and you will have to sit on hold for at least an hour just for someone to pick up the phone. Then if the call drops you have to repeat the process. We used to have First American Home Warranty, and we left due to minor challenges compared to what we have had to deal with at American Home Shield. For what we pay in premiums to AHS, we expect more. This company is a joke, and they have no respect for your home, health, safety, time, or sanity. If you are considering this company, do yourself a favor and run from them as fast as possible. I can't wait until our contract is up.

Do you like waiting on hold for three and a half hour in order to get your problem addressed? Do you like the bogus contractors that come out numerous times and they are unable to fix your problem only be told that they can't fix your problem? Then, AHS deducts the contractor's work/parts from their agreed price for a replacement. AHS is the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I think it's a scam that realtors pay for in order to help sell houses.

The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because we have had a few previous service requests that were quickly taken care of. However, they were easy repairs that did not require authorization or new parts and were able to be fixed that day. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time. I originally submitted a request for service on my AC on 5/31. A contractor came out a few days later and said it was out of freon. So I paid $230 to get freon added, since AHS only covers the first $10 per pound.

On 7/9 our AC stopped cooling again. I submitted a service request on 7/10 and the assigned contractor couldn't come for a week. I called AHS to see if they could find another contractor who could come sooner, which they did but the contractor only came one day sooner. And they never cancelled the service from the original company. They showed up at my door the next day and were pissed when I told them I had cancelled. I specifically asked the AHS rep I spoke with if I had to call and cancel the other appointment and the rep said NO, they would take care of it. The contractor I am now dealing with said there's a freon leak, which was not found 5 weeks prior when I originally submitted a service request.

The contractor recommended a new unit but, of course, knew AHS wouldn't approve until they try to repair. Contractor said he'd be surprised if they found the part for the condenser coil since the unit is 20+ years old. On 7/14 I was told the part was approved and ordered but I would now have to pay $468 for freon AGAIN! The contractor told me I should stay on top of AHS because they can drag their feet, so that's what I have been doing. On 7/15, I was told the part had been ordered and shipped. On 7/16 I was told the order had not been placed because I had to pay the contractor first and the contractor ordered the part. I told this to the contractor and they stated it was incorrect. The contractor got their AHS rep involved and it was sorted out, or so I thought.

The part was finally ordered on 7/18 and I was told it would be delivered on 7/24. I called every day in between to make sure I was told the same thing since I have been told different things multiple times when I call. It wasn't delivered on 7/24 so I called on 7/25. The AHS rep said the order was still expected on 7/24 and the status had not been updated. She said she could not contact the parts department since it was closed on the weekends but she said she would call me back 7/27 after she spoke with them to provide me an update. I did not receive a call so I called AHS again on 7/27. The person I spoke with this time said, once again, the part was expected on 7/24. Anyone see a problem?

Again, nothing had been updated in their system and this rep told me he was unable to call the parts department and the contractor must do that. Again, different from what the previous rep had told me. I have asked for tracking information on the part, to talk to a supervisor or to call the parts department myself. I was told I was not allowed to do any of that. I was once again told I would receive a call on 7/28 with an update, so we will if that happens. I have called AHS 17 times in 19 days. I have called the contractor about the same. I do not have a problem with the contractor, they have assured me they will do the work as soon as the part comes in. All I want is clear and consistent information. If they told me, for sure, the part will be delivered by 8/5 or whatever, I'd be ok.

I understand things are backed up with Covid. I just want correct info! I don't want to call back the next day and get told something different. I am so afraid I am going to call one day and be told the part has, in fact, not been ordered or it was the incorrect part or something else. I feel like every rep I talk to just lies or talks out their ** to get me off the phone. Well, it's a little late, but I am now recording names and employee ID when I speak with a rep. If this goes on much longer we are going to cancel our plan and find our own contractor to replace the unit.

We have our thermostat set at 77 in the summer. We were out of our house for two and a half hours and when we came back in, our temperature was at 79 and climbing. We checked the condenser outside and it wasn't running. I turned the power off and on and I went back out. 10 minutes later, our condenser started running. I wanted someone to take a look to see if there was a part that we should replace or if some repair was needed. We have someone who looks at our unit every six months for summer and winter use and we wanted to use them. When I called Home Shield, they said that that company is not one of their designated folks.

They sent Stockdale Service Company the next morning and I was extremely pleased with their tech. He was a no-nonsense guy and seemed upright and honest. He told me that I could have a frozen line which happens in the summer and then that line would thaw out after I've shut the unit down for a while. He told me there was nothing seriously wrong with my unit. While I wasn't happy that the tech couldn't come 'til the next day, we got the problem handled and Stockdale did a terrific job.

Through the years, I've trusted American Home Shield and they have been fantastic. We generally report claims by telephone and for something that we need taken care of quickly, like when our refrigerator went out, they were very quick about it. I'm very happy with the way their process is now. We have recommended them to our friends and when they saw how quickly things are responded to, they were very pleased.

The first time that Wilk's Appliance Repair came out, the guy had to order a part. He put the part number in then something came back that it was the wrong part and that was two weeks later. Then he called and asked me if I could look at the machine and send him a picture of the numbers. I did that. Another two weeks or so passed, they came back and put in the control board. After they left, maybe a hour so, I called and I told them that it was still holding water. It wasn't spinning the water out. He told me that I had to call American Home Shield to let them know so they could send out a second call or a recall.

I called American Home Shield. They sent out an appointment. The second time the company was supposed to come was August the 3rd, so, the guy called me on the phone to ask what the machine was doing. I told him what it was doing. I also said that, because it had been so long between the time our machine was fixed and the time I put in the request, I just went and bought another machine, but the other machine is still there for them to come and check it. With the type of work that I do, I'm around people who are possibly exposed all the time, and so when I come home, I literally take my clothes off and put them in the machine. I have a wife and kids, so it's important for me to have that machine that I didn't have for a month-plus before I got another one.

I talked to another rep the other day and she said that she was putting another service order in for the company to come out. Based on what she saw in the system, I said I bought another machine and it looked as if the company was under the impression that they didn't have to come to service the machine. I said that was not the case so we put another service order in. Now I'm waiting for them to call me with the date and the time to come back out.

I've been with AHS since I had my house and I normally don't have this type of issue. The main thing for me is once they connect us with another service provider, I feel like there should be a follow-up call or a follow-up something, and I don't think that happens all the time. Sometimes they'll send out an email asking to rate the service or rate for this. But to me, until the job is actually completed, there should be someone from their end who should follow up only because AHS has a contract with the company and we have a contract with AHS. We don't know these people nor their work so we're completely dependent upon American Home Shield as it relates to getting the service done.

If someone comes in and they're not doing a great job or they haven't done a great job, but they put in that the job was completed, most customers are just gonna be like, "Well, the job is completed." They're not gonna follow up with AHS to say that this person wasn't good or their attitude stink. I know AHS doesn't wanna do business with those types of people. I was waiting on a stove for three months, and in their system, it showed job completed. However, for me, it was not done. They resolved the issue, but it took three months. Those are things that shouldn't happen, especially with a pandemic going.

I just think that the follow-up for me wasn't great. I'm a person who follows up, like I call to try, on my own, to see that this is what happened and this is what I had to do, or what are the next steps. Other than that, AHS always makes up for it in the end, so I'm fine with it. Overall, they've handled their business. I tell people to get AHS, they need it.

When my husband and I got married, he had American Home Shield here. As of right now, I don't have any complaints. Recently, the washing machine drum had filled up with water and it wasn't spinning. Anytime that I would turn it to the wash cycle, it would continue to fill up with water but the water would never drain. With my dryer, when you turn it on and you go to open the door which would automatically shut it off, the dryer kept running. You had to push the button manually to stop it. The two technicians came out, fixed the issue within a matter of 15, 20 minutes, and it was good to go. They were very professional. They explained to me what the problem was. They saved me thousands of dollars. Instead of replacing two major appliances, they were able to fix it.

I took it upon myself to call the original plumber that was listed on the website because I find it faster. They asked how high the building was that I was in and they said that they don't service a high-rise. So, I asked why they were on there. I called American Shield and it was very frustrating that I was on a hold for them to finally track down somebody that would service a high-rise building, which I didn't realize would be such a problem. It’s irritating because plumbing is a big reason why I have this home warranty.

The rep from My Georgia Plumber was super nice and I had a good experience with him. I just bought my condo so, he unplugged the drain because the previous owner plugged it up and he fixed the toilet, so it flushes. Then, I asked him a couple of questions. He was very easy and pleasant. I just moved in my condo two months ago and I've only had to use AHS one other time for my refrigerator. It was not a problem because they had somebody who would service it but it was a hassle to use it for the plumbing. But AHS covered everything so it was less expensive than what hiring a plumber would have been.

It didn't seem like the house was getting as cool as we thought it would be. I filed the claim online through the AHS dashboard. To be able to make a claim, get a service call, pay online, to have some level of accountability and tracking of that through the portal, that dashboard doesn't check all the boxes of making me super happy with the home warranty policies in general. But it certainly satisfied a lot of their critiques that I had in the past. I was pretty impressed.

ACS Absolute Comfort came out, looked at the unit, and made some recommendations to have some system upgrades. However, there was no follow-up work. They weren’t replacing a compressor or lines. There was no scheduled next step forward with that particular contractor. But there were some things outside of the tenets of the policy that could be done like doing a little bit better insulation in the house. I'm generally satisfied thus far and happy with the overriding policy approach protection as well as the service approach with American Home Shield against major systems.

We had a claim with the igniter for the stove and the contractor was here within three days. The parts were covered, but we had to pay the $75 fee for the appointment. We had one other claim where the evap coil was leaking. It was gonna end up costing us $1200 and some dollars for a replacement on our cost to get whatever part that American Home Shield would have given us as part of the coverage. They would also have had to make it fit the unit and work with parts and have them filled back up the refrigerant, which was the old style.

It was 80 bucks a pound and they only paid $10 a pound towards it. It wasn't worth fixing the old unit and I told the guy that I was not putting $1200 in a 16-year-old air conditioner, so we just got a whole new replacement. American Home Shield only gave us 880 bucks towards the new unit that was was around $9,000, so it was not very much. If it's all they're gonna cover on it, then it's not worth it. If it hadn't come with the sale of the house, I won't be renewing it.

The Home Shield website was easy to use when I put the claim in and then I was told that somebody would contact me within 24 hours. Some of the options could be more specific on the website. For example, when I had to put in the second and third requests, the problem had changed but there wasn't really a way for me to show that. I should be able to explain there what was already done and what was still wrong. It took quite a few phone calls to get that sorted out.

Everyone from Express was very helpful. But I ended up having them out four times. I was frustrated in the end because they finally told me that when they would come out to fix something from the warranty, they would only check that one thing. So they kept missing other issues that continued to be a problem. Having a more comprehensive check would have been helpful and it would have saved them a lot of time in the end, and me a lot of trouble. But since the fourth visit, everything is great.

Everything with Shields Plumbing went all right. When they came out, they fixed the issue and not even two days later, we had more problems. American Home Shield doesn't pay for them to go on top of the roof. So instead of calling them back and going through them, we just called another plumber to come out here, and pay them the 150 because that's how much it's gonna initially cost us with the $75 on top of what they charge to go on top of the roof. I even called them back and I never got a response.

Other than that, we love American Home Shield. I’ve gone online before and I've done claims over the phone, and both of them are very easy. We just wish AHS pays for someone to go on the roof. The only way that someone can get into my mom's plumbing is for them to go on the roof. My mom doesn't have an outlet outside that comes into the house. It only goes out her sewer lines. So every time we have to use it, we end up having to pay the 75 on top of what they're gonna charge. That's something they should look into.

I can't get anybody that speaks English and it's an hour, hour and a half every time that you call. It was terrible. It’s not been a good experience. I ended up paying for the air conditioner and I just submitted the receipt to see if I can get some money back.

I always like American Home Shield's service. It's always super quick. Not even 10 minutes, and you get a response from them. Their claim process is very easy. We don't really do much. They take care of it. They sent Eagle Air out for our AC unit. They were great. The technician was super nice and helpful. The problem wasn't with the AC unit, but it was an electric problem. Some people would say, “Oh, you should’ve known.” But he said, “Don't worry about it. It's a common mistake. You actually need the electrician, but everything else is fine.” He also said, “If it's not, let us know and we’ll come right back out.”

The claims submission part was easy. However, if you need to submit a receipt or some sort of picture of a product, there's no way to do that through the online portal. You cannot message somebody and you cannot upload something to show them, “Hey, this is my receipt. Can you please add it to my contract?” In addition, it's long call wait times typically when you call Home Shield's customer service. Granted, the pandemic is probably causing even more extended delays, which is expected, but my average calls have been over 30 minutes just trying to get ahold of somebody. But when you get to someone, they're generally helpful. The only other problem was getting somebody to be assigned quickly when you have an issue. A day or two has typically been the experience that we've had. Everything is on the same level of urgency.

Jed did a wonderful service. They realized that the other service providers that Home Shield had sent out previously over the past year put in a faucet that’s not a Moen. The tech called Moen and told them what the part was. They sent me out a brand new part. He got the faucet that I needed. And when the part came in, I called Jed back. Jed sent the same guy back out. He installed it and told me that there were other things that needed to be fixed under my sink but I would have to go back to Home Shield to get them to authorize it. So overall, Jed did a fabulous job. They know what they're doing and that's what I like. I wasn't told to do something that I wouldn't have a clue how to do, like call in to get a part that was still under warranty reordered.

Jed’s plumbing guy came out that we had a broken water two-way water valve that needed to be replaced and to call Home Shield and tell them that we need to have that part replaced as well. I called Home Shield 10 times trying to get them to authorize them to replace the part. Every time I talked to someone from Home Shield, they would say, “Well, let me call Jed.” They would call Jed and say they weren't able to get anybody on the line at Jed and they would call me back once they can get the part and get it authorized. We went back and forth about three weeks and with me calling Home Shield back. When they finally said, “Well, I called Jed and Jed said, okay, they did put the part on here, but you need another service agreement with American Home Shield.” And because just when we can't accept, I called Home Shield back and told them what Jed said. Home Shield said, “Okay, we're gonna reach out to Jed. We’ll call you back.”

I called Home Shield back about two days later. They still, “Let me put you on hold. I'ma call Jed and see what Jed was talking about.” This went on and on and on. At the end of the day, four weeks later, I still have a broken two-ways water valve because Home Shield could not work with Jed to figure out what Jed needed. This is really aggravating. Am I not a customer that pays a service fee? I shouldn't have to do that. It should have been one phone call and Home Shield and Jed should have been able to work out what the issues were and resolve them. As the customer, it shouldn't have taken me three weeks to try to get something resolved and it still didn't get resolved because Home Shield couldn't reach Jed. It's always an issue with them. I'm really about to drop Home Shield.

My biggest issue with Home Shield outside of what just happened is that they send these companies out to do the work and they companies come in and do bad jobs and the quality of work doesn't last, like with my leaking faucet. I've had issues with that faucet for a year and a half. I've had three providers come out that Home Shield sent out. This last time, they sent the guy out and I refused to pay the service fee. I said I won't pay $125 when I just had them out here six months ago for the same faucet that is still leaking.

My recent claim experience where CAL-PRO went out was very good. He was in and out. He had to order the part. It took a while to get the part, but once the part came in, he called and he installed it that afternoon. He also had booties on and then he also had a mask and gloves. He was quick and he knew his stuff. When I was talking to him on the phone, what had gone wrong, he’d already known what it was. It was a circuit board on the refrigerator. I’ve used AHS twice and it worked out well.

I bought this house and part of the contract was to get a home warranty. A friend of mine had AHS for 20 years and he recommended it. It's really easy to get service calls for somebody to come and fix something and I've had several things done. This recent claim was a stopped up sink and I couldn't get the water down. I tried everything that I read to do and nothing worked. Sage Mechanical came out and the guy was great. He told me about a sink plunger, which I never knew about, and he had it unclogged in no time. He was really nice that he told me about that too. I bought one since and it works great.

Before that, my refrigerator broke and they couldn't get the part. I talked to the girl and she gave me the letter saying that I'm approved for a replacement as this refrigerator is old. But then I wanted to go with a little bit different model and I could never get ahold of them again. I guess, because of the COVID, their telephone in out west had been closed. The wait was like an hour to two hours so I was on hold many times. There was one part in the letter that said I could get it locally, just get that amount, and a check for the amount that they allowed. That was what I ended up doing. I've had a little bit of trouble with that so I haven't gotten the check yet, but I'm hoping to. I talked to someone again today about it. She said that the payment should be processed in 10 to 14 days.

We submitted a claim with AHS because the air is staying at about 75. It started a year ago and they replaced my compressor. Then the summer ended, so we didn't use the AC anymore. Now they replaced it with another compressor. Once they did, the AC will not go below 75, and it had been. Also, the AC sounds like a dying animal.

We had someone come out the next day, and he said he'd never seen what's going on before. The ampage in the unit keeps changing, like up and down, and not sure if it's an electrical problem. So, now I've had to call out an electrician. The last person that came here said he didn't know what was going on. They just ordered another compressor even though they've already changed it this week. We are still dealing with our issue. The communication with AHS has not really been great. The wait times are terrible.

Home Shield makes it easy to go ahead and file something to get it going. My other home policy that I had before was horrible. I tried Home Shield, and after that, we're good where we're at now. However, it took four days for them to get someone out here for me. I had to call back on that one. They said it would be two days to get someone to call so I waited two days and I called them the third day. And they said, "Okay, we're gonna forward this up to the next level and it could take another two days." But it was supposed to take two days. Why would it taking another two? It wasn't great because we were sitting a high 90s and over 100 on some days. It's supposed to take no more than 48 hours to get back to you. When that doesn't happen, there is no one that looks to see if it didn't happen.

But when K & J Mechanical came, they were really quick and fast at doing it. They had the part inside the van and they replaced it. They did it in 20 minutes and everything was back on. They were good and professional with what they did. We also had a washer issue. There are two different circuit boards on the washers. They replaced that out. They did that two years ago. They also fixed an icemaker for me here back in January. Home Shield been good about getting stuff in here.

The machine would turn on and fill up with water and then it wouldn't go any further. It just quit and so we siphoned the water out a couple of times and then we tried it again. But it still didn't work. Then I called American Home Shield and asked them to come out and fix it. The contractors came out in their normal amount of time.

The technician came in and he diagnosed the machine. What he said the problem was is that the thing that makes the water drain was clogged. Then he fixed it on the spot, which I didn't expect because I expected to get a new machine. But he was professional while he was there. He was clean and he was in and out. It was great. All in all, it went better than I expected because my problem was solved in two weeks instead of taking a month, as it did previously to solve the problem. So I was pleased with my last service.

However, I'd like them to come quicker, especially if the appliance needs to be replaced. Just like in my case, when the washing machine broke, I had to go to the laundromat. I have a family and there's seven of us. So I use the washer non-stop and it was burdensome to handle the laundromat. I also think about what happens if my refrigerator breaks, like I'm gonna have to rent a refrigerator for the time being while they figure out how they're gonna either fix my refrigerator or give me a new one. Maybe AHS can have a priority for certain appliances like a refrigerator or a freezer, over a washing machine where there are public options, like a laundromat.

I tell people about AHS. I'm like, "Dude, it's totally the best $40 I spend every month," because I know that if the washing machine breaks or the dishwasher breaks or even if the air conditioner goes, they don't replace the whole thing but they replace part of it. They help. But there is a long wait and if you're not up for the wait and you want an immediate solution, just go buy a new one and put your money in a savings account and wait for stuff to break. But I like it. I like to know that I can call somebody and they just handle this whole thing in my life. Like when I called them and they took over the washing machine problem. That's their problem now. So I like that too.

I'm an original homeowner and when we purchased the condo, we got Home Shield. As my husband who passed away was elderly, and I thought instead of messing around, let's just do that. It's affordable, especially if you have some kind of an issue. You're putting money out every month thinking, “Oh, I'm giving them $57 a month, and it's a brand new condo, and my appliances are new.” But when you do have a problem, it would cost you a lot more in stress and everything else than if you had Home Shield. You can make the one phone call and somebody gets you a repairman out. All of the repairmen were very professional. During the pandemic, the fellows that came by all had masks on, and were very courteous and friendly. They knew what they were doing. I feel safe with them coming into the house.

The wait time for a phone call is a little lengthy, but anywhere you go, it's a little lengthy. But whoever gets on the phone, they're very good at listening to my issue. They always give me the name and the phone number of the company that they're going to connect with. Sometimes I hang up and I myself call. They tell me to call back in 30 minutes because they have to send it to them. They do and it's well-worth the $75 charge.

I have an original air conditioner, and during winter, we replaced all of our lighting here in the house with LED. Summer comes and we start using the air conditioner. We started seeing a flicker of the light when the air conditioner would cycle on. I called Home Shield and I told them exactly what it was. I told them it’s my original air conditioner. The contractor came out, the guy went in the back, and he showed me that there was one part that had actually fried the wire, but it was still functioning. We assumed that that was the issue. He changed out that part and I was a happy camper. He was very friendly and a good guy. For a day, I didn't notice the flickering. Then all of a sudden, the flickering was back.

I called back the company that came to fix the air conditioner and I said there was an issue here. And they said, “Okay, you're within that time that you don't have to pay the $75 copay.” They came out and the tech, It was the same fella, opened it up but he couldn't understand. The tech turned the air conditioner so it would cycle and he saw that the light was still flickering. It is momentary. Just quick. But it was like a dimming, like when the air conditioners cycled, it was the light. The part that he replaced was in good shape. But he was going to now change another part that they were able to do. They couldn't change the motor. That is not what they could change, but anything that they could. It was a pretty good size part. Something that you have to have to run the air conditioner. He changed that out and put in a brand new one. He put it in with no $75 service fee because I was within a certain period of time.

Then I saw it happening again. When the guy left, he said if it happens again, I need to call an electrician. I called Home Shield and I said, “I need an electrician. You had somebody come out from an air conditioning company twice. We thought it was corrected.” The tech changed out two parts. One of them that was fried. He couldn't even believe that I had light or air because it had burned. The Home Shield rep said no problem. She got the order taken.

The guy from another company that does electric came out. He was very professional and a nice guy. They're always early. They always call ahead even when they're early. They would say, “My job is finished. I’m a little early. Would it be okay to come?” Of course when you're dealing with this kind of stuff, the sooner the better. He came in, and he also did the thing with the air conditioner and saw it flicker. He opened up the panel, checked every wire, told me how well this place was wired. After so many years, everything was still tight and perfect. And then he turned around and he said, “Well, I could tell you what your problem is. Your LED light bulbs.”

They're very sensitive. And what happens when your air conditioner turns on, it just for a split second will dim that LED bulb, and I've got them all over the house. It's true. I have no problem with my light until I can hear the air conditioner cycle on. It's that momentary flicker, and it is what it is. But I had no problem with them sending out an electrician. It’s an old unit. But they didn't press me to buy a new unit or have them install one. That to me was a real plus when it comes to Home Shield, that they were willing to keep coming out to solve this problem. The air conditioner works like a brand new one now since they've replaced those two parts. I know that it's working better because my electric bill went down about $30.

All that money I put out every month and not needing somebody paid off. If I had to call just a company for air conditioning to come out and check it out, they would call me for the service call. And them seeing the age of it, I believe they would try to make a sale and say, “You know, it's 22 years old. You really should have this replaced.” And then, how much the air conditioner out-of-pocket will come to? $3,000, $4,000, $5,000, whatever it is. I recommended Home Shield to a friend and he bought Home Shield as well. He has a very large, older home. But he's older and he started thinking, if something goes wrong, he's not in the shape to go and fix it. So, he just purchased Home Shield also about six months ago.

If you get the right company, they will come out the next day and if they can't fix it, they will order the part, come back and fix it. Or if they can’t fix it, they will replace it. Recently, my furnace started acting up. There was a switch that wasn't connected to turn on the blower for the air. The first time I called, Home Shield said someone would come out but nobody came. And then they said they wouldn't be available until that next week so Home Shield gave me a second place. They then got in touch with me and they came out the day after. They took care of it. We continue to have the same problem with the AC. It is leaking so much that our floor is wet. The contractor comes out every two or three days and say the drain is clogged. They unclog it, or so they say, then two days later, the floor's wet again. We do have pets, but we have two small dogs. It seems impossible for it to be clogged that quickly. Yesterday, they came back out. We're not continuing to be charged for this 'cause it's the same issue and it's within the time frame. But yesterday, the guy said it might be a coil and if so, that's not covered by American Home Shield which is extremely frustrating.

Regarding communication with American Home Shield, it's not like you actually get to speak with anyone. You sit on hold for hours if you wanted to use a phone so you have to submit everything online. At this point, they're kind of a necessary evil. Superior Service Electric was my contractor and they were really nice. Two guys came on time and they explained what was going on. They were really nice and informative. The younger guy was really detailed about what was happening. Generally, when somebody comes and if it's something I can learn, I might go out and see what's going on. They told me what was gonna happen and it happened in the time frame that they said it was going to. The power has been fine since. I work from home and I don't have to worry about that power thing flickering or shutting off. That was the good thing because I do customer service on the phone all day.

We were having a problem with the air handler not turning on as well as water dripping on the side. AAA All Brands Appliances took care of the water fast, but they had some problems with the air handler not coming on because it was intermittent. We later discovered that it was the timing and relay and with bypass. AAA was very good, very thorough and friendly. They were concerned about the problem and my satisfaction. They tried different things to see if one thing would corrected it because it wasn't anything that you could just put your finger on. They tried replacing certain parts, and if it didn't work, then I would call back and reestablish the contract and Home Shield would send out another group or the same group, and look at it again and see if they can could up with a solution.

Home Shield was very aggressive in trying to make sure the problem was handled and was very patient about how long it would take to repair. It took a month and a half to really figure out the problem. It wasn't an easy one. But anytime I requested a continuance, Home Shield granted it immediately and assigned a professional to come out and look at it. We finally got a person that really analyzed the situation and corrected the problem. So now, we're back in business.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for two years and it’s a toss-up with them sometimes. SDL Plumbing did what was needed to be done. It was a good service and it was very professional. Also, the job was well done. But then, I had more plumbing issues. You start fixing one thing and then suddenly the next thing breaks. So, I had Lexus Plumbing come on board and that was a way better experience.

I wasn't aware though that AHS is able to give some choices in the app such as for the service provider. Also, I'm hearing from other individuals that have American Home Shield about what is covered and not. AHS has beautiful brochure giving tons of information or even when you sign a contract, you have all the requirements. Everything is there. But I'm not sure if something is part of the business. For example, rekeying. I didn't know the coverage until one time when I went through the whole information. When you go into the app, it’s the top one but it should have a dropdown part. Let's say you need stuff for the kitchen. You put the layout of your house and you click on kitchen, and then it tells you what is covered.

I also like the guy who comes to do my stuff usually, ‘cause he’s done stuff in my house before. However, this guy’s from Automated Appliances in Connecticut and I put my claim in June and it’s still not fixed.

Then yesterday, I called and said, “Why is my refrigerator still not fixed?” He always has excuses. He said, ”I can’t fix it.” I said, “But you told me you’re gonna call American Home Shield to see what the next steps are gonna be”, which is to replace the whole refrigerator. But he never did it. He said, “Oh, yeah.” He had two weeks to do that but I found out he just did it yesterday. Then, my oven doesn’t work and my door had also cracked, so he ordered a new door. It took a month to get the door put in. He got the glass in then he had to order a seal. Then now, the oven doesn’t work. He never checked to see if the oven works, which was the original problem.

The stove had no current, so we went out to the panel box. For some reason, the breaker didn't break, but it was popped. Submitting claims has been extremely easy. I can either do it by phone or online, and I choose to do it online. I immediately get a text or an email or both indicating they received my request and that a contractor regarding whatever issue will be contacting me within 24 hours, which they had or earlier than that.

However, it’s just the wait time or hold time to reach somebody. They have a callback but I don't always get that option when I call. But, I'm extremely happy and I'm really grateful that I have this plan with my home. The plan that I have, it’s the ultimate. If the contractors can't repair the appliance or product, AHS will replace it and they came through with that. I had plumbing issues last year. The two most recent, my garage and my water heater, they couldn't fix them so they replaced them and it saved me thousands of dollars.

I have been with American Home Shield for at least 2 if not 3 years. Last year my refrigerator was having issues. AHS sent a contractor to fix it. The fix only lasted a few months (I don't blame AHS for this). When we requested follow-up service, AHS assigned the same contractor. We waited a week for scheduling and heard nothing so we reached out to the contractor ourselves. Turns out, the company had been out of business for at least a month. We notified AHS, they assigned another contractor. Contractor came out, "fixed" the same issue. Within a short amount of time the refrigerator was again not working. Contacted AHS again with no response, waited as long as we could and finally just went and bought a new refrigerator out of pocket because we have insulin that has to be refrigerated, not to mention food etc.

My most recent experience - requested service on our cooktop. Contractor was sent out in timely fashion and reported the parts that needed to be replaced to AHS. A week later I get a text notification saying that the job is done (mind you no work had been done on the cooktop). Waited on hold with the main AHS number for over an hour, talked to someone who instructed me to call a different number during weekday. I'm now writing this review as I've been on hold with the different number for 3 hours, 15 minutes and 48 seconds. I would prefer to not waste this much time to get in touch with a human being and I would greatly appreciate it if someone from AHS would read this and help remedy the issues I've faced for future customers. Also, please tell me what I need to do to replace my cooktop. An online version of this would be much more efficient than expecting me to wait on hold for over 3 hours.

Then when you get them on the phone they will give you every excuse why they cannot replace your equipment. They sent a vendor to my home 6 times for a dryer repair. They cannot fix and just keep sending the vendor.. They give you the run around because they do not want to replace it. This is a complete waste of money and time. Filed a claim on May 26th 2020 for a defect pool pump. After a technician showed up I told him I'd rather have a payout check to buy a new pump instead of having the old one getting fixed over and over again(3rd pool pump claim). He told me the amount he submitted to AHS for the payout check. After a month I called AHS to ask about my claim and they responded that the check would be on its way but it has not arrived ever and it's almost August. Side node: Weirdly the amount of the check would have been smaller than the amount submitted from the technician. After I had my tenant call again, as I am out of country, he was told that they ain't gonna be a check as the status of my claim states "complete". That unqualified hotline worker obviously only checked my account page cause it does have that status but neither has been any work done at the pump nor have I ever gotten a check.

Now I am trying to get a hold of anyone at AHS but its just ** impossible as nobody is responding to neither EMail nor calls. Lines are always busy...obviously as probably many people have reason to complain. Please don't start with Covid19 as I am not getting a pandemic discount from you. I expect the service I pay for. Initially requested service for my AC in June. Contractor said no leaks and filled with coolant - charging me another $150. The unit stopped working again and on the 30th day I attempted to use the AHS website to click on their link that says "still not fixed?" so that the history would be there and the same contractor could be recalled. The AHS website kept kicking me to a new request, charged me $75, and assigned to a new contractor. So I called AHS on Monday, July 20th, the 31st day putting me outside of the recall period. The customer service rep tried to call the contractor with no response. She was the only one willing to help me navigate the recall and advised that she would cancel the new request with the other contractor and void my $75 charge and even told me that it wasn't right that I should be charged when the original contractor didn't fix what he was supposed to.

She called me back at the end of her shift and explained that if I hadn't heard from the guy by the next morning then she'd assign a new contractor. That never happened. I called daily and got the same response over and over that I was outside the recall period and the contractor marked the service complete. I repeatedly asked for a supervisor or manager and no one ever responded, they kept saying no one was available. So, they don't report to anyone in that place? I don't believe that. I waited on hold today another hour for someone from the escalation team only to get the same response. This was absolutely a horrible experience with anything even remotely called customer service. There's no one to contact at corporate, no way to email, no online chat, no way to have someone in a higher position of authority to speak to that can understand what I'm saying. Awful. Period.

My dishwasher was leaking and when the tech came, we thought the issue was the seal. So when the seal came in, he replaced it but the dishwasher was still leaking. That was when they determined that we needed the door and American Home Shield said that they would just replace the dishwasher. But Bragg's was wonderful. The tech tried his best. I called American Home Shield's 800 number and then they sent me an email saying that I could either pick one of the options or I could get a reimbursement. The first one that they told me was ADA. The rep told me to make sure that I measure it to make sure it fits because if they send me one and it doesn't fit, then they're liable. I called them back because that ADA thing didn't sound right to me and it's been an ordeal calling that number. You stay on hold for four hours to talk to those people.

The lady that answered the phone said that they shouldn't have recommended the ADA. She told me that it shouldn't have been suggested to me and she was gonna send me another email and I could have another first option. I got the email and it said that they would reimburse me up to 600 and some dollars. I was okay with that but I was still afraid that if I picked something and they delivered it that it was on me. So American Home Shield is replacing the dishwasher. We're just waiting for the dishwasher to come in from Best Buy.

I emailed the receipt to them on the 14th. I called them yesterday and I stayed on hold for another three and a half hours just to see if they could tell me if they received it. The rep said they were working on stuff that they got on the 8th. SO who knows what happened to the thing I mailed. I'm not even worried about that. But I'm in limbo waiting.

When I have to call in for service, I do it all online which is nice and easy. But this whole getting the unit replaced has been very discouraging because I can't get anybody to talk to me. They should put it in my account that the document or the email has been received and then indicate the date that I should be getting the reimbursement. That way, it would alleviate us having to call back and talk to somebody.

The bad thing was that put it on my credit card and they've already billed me. My credit card bill was due at the end of July, so I had to pay for it already. Luckily I had the money to pay it. I'm blessed that I was able to do that. But if it was a different situation and if I would have known that it was gonna take this long, I probably would have went with the zero percent financing for a couple months. I've also had bad luck with Best Buy. Best Buy keeps calling me and saying, “Okay, let's make your thing we suggested.” But as soon as we hang up, they send me an email back saying that there was another delay and that I had to call back. Luckily I don't have four-hour wait time with Best Buy. But the whole experience has been pretty rough.

American Home Shield has a lot of stuff they don't tell me. When they advertise, they tell me that if they can't fix my issue, they'll replace what needs to be replaced. They don't say that if I don't come under a particular type, I may have to go out of pocket for some things. A lot of people ask me about them and I tell them that things become an issue with AHS if they have to replace something. There are too many hidden little fees when it's time for them to do that. There was a time when I had to get a central air unit in my house and AHS was only gonna cover a small fee of that. That whole system cost me $4,800 and they told me that they were only gonna go up to $500.

There's so much going on now to be out selling somebody a product that isn't 100%. A friend of mine has Home Shield and she needed a hot water tank. AHS claimed her unit was old and wasn't up to code. So, they were only going to pay so much. Most recently, I had a leaky faucet and Home Shield sent Plumb Genius. The tech replaced the faucet and had to tighten up some of the knobs. However, he labeled them wrong. The one on the hot one should have been on the cold one. Still, I called Plumb Genius back and the tech took care of it.

I had an AC claim with Home Shield. There was a piece that had to be replaced and the guy from Efficient Air Systems fixed it very quickly. He seemed to know exactly what he needed to do and he didn't even have to come inside the house. He just had to have access to the machine outside and it was a pretty seamless and fast process. What hasn't been consistent with Home Shield is when there were situations that they couldn't repair and they did not replace, which I thought is what having them is for. There was an HVAC issue one time that I had and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it because the piece had been breaking. And they couldn’t replace it. I ended up having to buy a brand new HVAC, which I didn’t think I’d have to do if they were servicing this. I don’t feel like there’s a real clear understanding on what this service is supposed to do in every situation and I don’t think it’s completely cut and dry.

I did the request online and Dimitresse Construction got back to me within 24 hours. They then came out and it went very well. The guy had to pick up a part that went inside the toilet tank, something like the flap or the other part, and he did so. He came back the next day and he fixed the issue. He had a mask on the whole time and he also showed me where the main water valve is in the apartment, which I didn't know which one was. There was one for the HVAC, the hot water heater, and then the water to the sinks and toilets and he told me which one is which. He knew by looking in the utility room, and he showed me the position to turn the water in.

United Air Temp was excellent. They were very professional and polite. The shower was leaking through the ceiling from the second floor down to the first floor, and they found out that the trap of the gasket was leaking causing water to damage the ceiling. They cut the portion of the ceiling out and fixed the gasket in there. It took them about five days to do the fix. When they found out what the problem was, they had to order the part and wait for the part to come in. When the part came in, they came right out and put it in.

I've been with American Home Shield for a few years now and I've never had an issue with them. Everything's been done properly and they let me know in advance what’s going on. They've always been fair with me. If I could get to a person quicker, that would be a lot awesome. Sometimes I want to get to an agent sooner, but you gotta go through so many different avenues and channels in order to get to somebody.

Whitney T Holdings was supposed to order a part for my garage door opener. But that hasn't been taken care of yet and I haven't heard anything from anybody. Every time I try to call, I'm put on an hour wait and I can't sit on the phone for an hour. But I've had nothing but good things to say about American Home Shield. I would recommend them to people. The cost is great compared to the quality and they're usually really quick to respond when you call. A couple of times I've used it, they've always resolved everything without an issue.

We had a heating problem and we had water coming from out from underneath. We thought we had some type of a leak and that turned out to be condensation. So, that was no big deal. Then we had a refrigerator issue where the icemaker quit working. I wrote a note on that one because I was really unhappy. The guy that AHS sent out just said that they have a lot of problems with the ice maker on that gallery series and that there was not really a whole much he could help me with there. I paid him 75, then he left and a neighbor ended up coming over and fixed it for us.

All in all, some of the service guys were awesome and they were really there to fix the appliance and do the job. Then some of them were just disappointing, especially the refrigerator one. Then, we have to pay in advance to assure their payment. But I would like to see the problem taken care of before they get paid. Also, we've never had older homes before and we've always had brand new homes, so we've never had the experience of needing service. But now, our second home is 20 years old and I don't have a plan on that right now. If I have a problem, I pay for somebody to come out and I haven't really spent what I spend for American Home Shield every year. But I'm scared to death not to have the policy on the other home because we didn't build it and we bought it used. Other than that, we used AHS a lot and they're doing the best they can do.

I had a claim on the refrigerator. I was unable to change the water filter. It just would not come out. My husband and I couldn't get it out. Rather than taking a risk of really doing more damage than good, we just went ahead and made the claim with AHS. I went online and said, “I've got a claim, I've got a problem.” It didn't give me a choice. It just said, “Not making ice, not cooling.” The choices that it gave me, none of them applied, so I hit “Other”. As always, I got a call in the next 24 hours. They scheduled and CK Appliance came out. He was here when he said he would be. It was the same gentleman that fixed the refrigerator previously. He was on time, polite and courteous. He was also personable and was very professional. He put little thingies on his shoes and had a mask on.

He showed me how to fix the water filter. He said the water filter that was in there looked like it had a fault on it. He said, “This may be why it was hanging up in the filter housing. So, that could be why you were having such a hard time getting it out.” He took the whole housing out to get the filter out, which I couldn't have done. I don’t like the fact that I had to make a claim just to change my water filter, but I was in a spot where I didn't know what else to do.

The appliance repair people are absolutely the best. They immediately call you and you don't have to call them. Day's Appliance was phenomenal and Sears was great but American Home Shield keeps sending me vendors that don't service my area for my pool. They wouldn't allow my guy to put in a pump at half the price of their vendor and by the time they give him permission, it would cost me about $500 out of pocket and we couldn't swim for two weeks. When you lose two swim weeks in Ohio, that's a great deal of your summer so, they're horrible. Plus, I pay extra for that. So, I'm not getting the service for that because you can’t work with them at all. They would say that they would call somebody else. I would tell them that we've already called and that they should stop sending me vendors that don't service my area. Then they would say they would call so and so but I’ve done it three times.

AHS is causing me much time on the phone and undue stress. I don’t have time to mess with it and then, it makes me have to work till 3 o'clock in the morning to do my job because they don't work till 3:00 in the morning. Their pool service is non-existent so, it's not so much their vendor as it is them. At one time, they sent someone from two or three hours north of Cincinnati to come and fix the pool. The next time, the guy wouldn't come that far to do it nor do I blame him. They do not have people who service pools in my area yet.

I have my own pool person who get it but it took an arm and a leg. It took months to get my money. It took weeks for them to approve it and that is a real hardship on me to have all that money out of my pocket. My poor pool man said that if the pool ever goes out again and we have to deal with AHS, he doesn’t know that he'll do it for me. I said that we'll close up the pool and fill it in, and I'm gonna sue them because I'm paying for that but I can't get service. You can't sit and let somebody's pool turn green. It costs a lot of money to unturn it and you can't use the pool you paid for. You're out of commission and you can't do anything. So, that's rude.

The last vendor who brought the trash compactor called the day before. I was in a foreign country so I tried to line up someone for them and I had no one who could come the next day. When it could finally be rescheduled, it could only be done at 7:00 in the morning. I get up at 5:00 but I couldn't get somebody else to get up and get to my house at 5 o'clock. So, then it was finally rescheduled for a couple of days later and it was gonna be noon to 4:00. I had someone come and sit there. She's the person who cleans for me once a month and I have to pay her $15 an hour. So, she came at noon and they came at 6:30. The girl got livid because she said it was ridiculous. She was sitting there. When the contractor called, they said that they were gonna be delayed. They told me they would call 30 minutes ahead but they didn't do that. So, it ended up that she missed her dinner at home. It was absurd.

I'm a little miffed as I should be. I should be given back every dime of the money I paid for the service call because I am out six and one-half times, $15 an hour. I don't know who they think they are and why they think they're so much better than we are but they're not. I'm irritated and it cost me a lot of money out of pocket. It’s the same thing with my tankless water heater. They don't have anyone in our area and I understand why. They said that they used to be with AHS and they did their jobs but then, AHS didn't wanna pay them and tried to cheapen them down. So, they just wouldn’t work for them, which is a shame because it's not cheap what I pay. I'm paying $80 every time I call for a service call. Plus, I'm paying 100 and something a month, so it's a lot. It's as much as I pay for car insurance, which could run you into the millions if you had a wreck and someone sued you. So, you're not even comparing apples to apples.

All in all, AHS is worthwhile to me monetarily wise because I've had so many things happen. But I don't have the time anymore to deal with AHS and just be so tenacious on trying to spend the monumental amount of time to get it all done. Right now, I'm in my Florida house and in the Ohio house, the trash compactor was supposed to come before I left but it did not. Now, it's sitting in the middle of my kitchen floor. So, when I go home, I've got to haul out the old one and I've got to put in the new one. So, I can't even go home and unpack.

I resent very much talking to someone in the Philippines. They may have a sheet that comes up and tells them who services your area but they don't know. Also, they don't speak English good enough to get it. AHS should put me back in Tennessee where they are. They're wonderful, nice and call you back. They'll try to take care of it and do everything. But American Home Shield has morphed into a company where I don't have to talk as much to anyone in a foreign country and I don't have to wait on hold three and four hours now. The wait times are shorter but I still waited an hour. Anybody should not have to wait an hour or an hour and a half or even 15 minutes. But if you want service, you have to wait.

I got the notification from the tenant at four o'clock pm on a Friday. Then I got a prompt response and scheduled everything with the tenant. Even on a Sunday evening, they were even discussing with me exactly what time they were gonna be there on Monday, which was the next business day. They had good communication as well. I got a copy of the work that was performed when they were finished. The only thing was that when I was logging on from PC, there was an issue with getting the claim submitted. That was alleviated when I went through my phone and was able to finally get it submitted that way. I've been happy. It's money well spent. On the service that I have needed, it's actually exceeded my expectations. Overall, I recommend AHS actively to anybody. Even in a brand new home, stuff breaks down.

That was my only issue I’ve had in the house. As soon as I emailed that there was an issue, Home Shield immediately assigned my contractor. That was great compared to other companies that I hear people complain that you have to follow up for weeks to get somebody to come in to meet with. I took the plan with the high deductible, which was 125. That’s the only money I paid to Home Shield. And then, the guy came and fixed the issue.

It was delayed for a few days because I forgot to update my profile. I had an old phone number on my profile. CD’s Appliances had a number which was not working. That was the only delay. Eventually, I ended up calling them and we got my issue resolved. The guy said, “You need to replace that part.” He came and replaced it. I'm able to use my oven again. I'm happy.

Then I had to call back and tell them my choice. But my husband waited for two hours, and I waited for two hours and 15 minutes. Now we’re up for renewal and I plan on renewing, but I'm leery about the wait time because I don't have two hours of my day to sit there and wait on the phone. And just as coincidence would have it, two weeks after we purchased our home warranty, the motor on one of our air conditioning units went out. I anticipated a bit of a hassle just because it was such a new contract. I'm certain there are plenty of people who, something breaks, and then they try to reverse engineer it. They would say, “We'll just deal with the broken whatever for a couple of weeks, and then we'll call a service thing.” I anticipated some friction, but there wasn't.

It was easy to request service and to make an appointment, and the communication was transparent. All Tech was not early but they gave a two-hour repair window and they were here at the very beginning of it. The tech sent us a text message when he was on his way. He diagnosed the problem quickly. He had all the parts that he needed on his truck. He had the AC fixed within an hour, and that was it. It was fantastic. It was seamless and painless. My wife works for a large real estate office. They deal with various home warranty providers and Home Shield always bubbles to the top as the premier provider. They're more expensive, but we just bought a home and that's why we went with them.

The guy from Flow Masters Plumbing Solutions came, took it all apart to find out what's the problem, and put it all back together. It's working beautifully now. Our first claim before was about a different plumbing issue. The plumber came and did absolutely nothing. I complained about it to AHS and then I got to thinking and investigated and saw that they would send somebody else at no charge to fix it.

I called them back and they sent the exact same plumbing company, Flow Masters. The guy looked at it and said it was easy to fix and he did it. The shower faucets installed backwards and again, it's a Delta. He made some adjustments and it's also working fine. The only thing I suggest, when I said at the beginning that it wasn't fixed, someone could have contacted me and investigated a little bit further instead of me happen to take the initiative to do some investigating, especially since I'm a new policy owner.

A friend has the same service and I signed up in May. When my air conditioning unit needed to be charged, I called and the tech who came was friendly and thorough. It also didn't take him long to do his job and so far, things are working okay. This is the claim that did everything that needed to be done. I've had another claim with them for my dryer. It was smoking and the inside, this little thing that turns your clothes, that was not turning. They came out and they repaired it, but now it's making a knocking noise. I hadn't had time enough to do a claim or I didn't know if I need to do a claim or call the man back, so I just had it. Overall though, I'm very pleased that I was told about this service. American Home Shield is doing what they said that they would do and I've already started recommending people.

There was a leak in my roof and there were brown spots forming in my living room ceiling. Those spots were getting bigger so I know there was some type of leak in the attic. I filed the claim with them, came by and American Home Shield's tech from Universal Plumbing came by. He found that there was some problem with my air conditioning which was too backed up. He had to clear the pipes. It took him an hour or so then he said everything should be good to go. Since then, I haven't had any more leaks. He did a great job. Being with American Home Shield these past years has been great. I get affordable prices plus they've been really good with getting me in touch with who I need to fix any problems I have.

We just moved into a new house and we were rekeying it. We reached out to American Home Shield online. A man from Dan's Pro-Lock came out for the rekey. He was good and I didn't have a problem. It was great. The only thing is I'd like to see a more user-friendly website for American Home Shield. It was shocking. It was not easy to get in and to navigate. It worked eventually but the website could be improved. It should be a little bit more user-friendly. Both my husband and I are not technophobes. We get the text messages but if you go online, we can't track.

The other issue that we had was since we moved into a new house, we tried to schedule a plumber to come out and they said we couldn't do it until we paid for something else. When you're having an emergency or whatever the case may be, you're gonna need more than one person at a time. We had to make a phone call to the person who sold us the policy for them to make sure we could do more than one ticket at a time.

Someone from Benett's came out, leaned the washing machine over, looked at the bottom and said it needed a hose. We had the washing machine for about six years and he told me that the hose was cut in half. He also said he had to order the part through Home Shield and I never heard that before. He said he'd get back with me another day, and he left. That's the part I didn't like. Why couldn't he go get the part and come back? They got part stores all over the place. I've been doing service calls all my life and I can go buy a part, come back and fix it. They did that with my air conditioning. They sent the technician out here the next day. He came out, replaced my fan and checked it. He was then out of here and it was running again.

Come to the washing machine, I don't wanna see these people two or three times at my house. The COVID is going on right now and I don't know what that boy's carrying around. It was also like my $125 was sitting in limbo. I could have paid a bootleg mechanic to come and fix my washing machine if I gotta go two weeks without it working. I'm about good and pissed because that boy should have been able to come out here, look at the unit and go get the part and come back. It ain't like rocket science to a washing machine. I'm confused.

I've already waited a week to get my washing machine fixed and he told me what was wrong with it, but he didn't do the repair then. He was good, but the protocol that he had to follow was bad. Now I gotta be inconvenienced again and wait around and see how long it's gonna take him and when he's gonna come. I ain't working right now, and I don't have time to sit around. I'm trying to hustle during a pandemic. As long as it took for an appliance to be repaired, that was ridiculous. I also don't want any more bad experiences.

I was having problems with washer, dryer, refrigerator. The technician from Astro Appliance came back and he did the washer and the dryer. He tried to do the refrigerator but he couldn't get it done. I was upset because when he was here, he told me that they would order a part, schedule a time to come back and fix it. When he got back, he brought the part but he realized that he didn't have this other part and he thought that they would not be able to get it since it was no longer available.

The piece that the technician said that was not replaceable was the piece on the outside of the freezer door where you'd do the water and the ice to come through in your cup when you push those buttons. That was wide open, so it was causing my whole freezer to mess up. There was nothing else he could do because it was broken. So the next thing was I would have to take it up with American Home Shield. I called and nobody ever called me back. I was so frustrated.

Then, there was an issue after they replaced it, so the guy came back out and fixed that problem. I also had a plumbing issue in the laundry room and American Home Shield had someone come out and fix the valve, which was fine as well. Submitting a claim to AHS was easy because I had other questions about other things and I was able to call them quickly and get it resolved. They are the only company that I've been dealing with that answered me in a timely manner, returned my call and there was a human that I spoke to. So, AHS has been very good. It was also quick both times that I did it and everything so far has been very smooth.

I started having pool issues. I had a leak and the pump system wasn't functioning the way it should have been functioning. There was a valve that broke off as well. I did what I could and I couldn't. I didn't know enough about it to be able to fix it, so I called the claim in to American Home Shield and I got a notification that a technician has been assigned to me. Green Valley contacted me the next day and they gave me a date of when they were gonna go.

The technician was very professional and I asked if he could call me at least half an hour before he showed up to the house, which he did. I went to the house and the guy showed up. He went in there and asked me what was going on. I showed him, he analyzed it, did everything he was supposed to and came to the conclusion that there was some stuff that needed to be repaired. He got everything done and everything's working great now. As of yesterday last night, everything was functioning correctly in the way it should be so I got no complaints at this moment.

I had AHS once and then, it expired. So, I got a notice and I had to call and renew it. Just recently, it happened again where I was notified that I was lost as a customer. I wish they would have notified me that my contract was coming up on expiration and if I wanted to renew it as opposed to say that they’ve lost me as a customer. Now, I gotta call and start it all over again. But other than that, everything went smoothly.

American Home Shield needs to be careful who they're sending out. They have to be reputable and they have to make sure that they're good quality. Sometimes the service people that they send out are questionable. A lot of times they'll just clean something up or put a band-aid on some of the problems versus changing out the parts. That irritates me in some ways. But for the most part, they've fixed pretty much everything I've asked except for the electrical.

American Home Shield had electrical people come out in the house I just bought and I paid $75. Then the guy said that it was all outdated and that it would cost probably 1,500 past the amount that I paid. When he looked at the other electrical stuff that we showed him, he just said that it was probably beyond what they could do and then he left. So I paid $75 and the guy didn't do anything other than telling me it was gonna cost me 1,500 more. They also didn't cover something at the other house that I had. But we had other stuff that people came out and they fixed and it was fine.

Our kitchen sink had a leak and our upstairs toilet had an issue. I went online and got the customer service number of American Home Shield. Their reps were great over the phone. I told the one I spoke to about the sink and the toilet and she said it would not be a problem to submit both issues under one claim since they were both plumbing issues. Their contractor Honesty Mechanical came to service my claim but then the plumber got the wrong information on why he was going to my place. AHS didn't mention anything to him about the toilet needing to be looked at and he wasn't prepared for that. He ended up not being able to do anything about that.

I had to go to Lowe's and learn how to fix my own toilet. I spent even more money than what we gave Home Shield to fix my own toilet. It was cheaper for me to try to figure it out and go through Lowe's than paying another $100 to have somebody come out from AHS then possibly paying out of pocket. Other than this communication issue, AHS has been good for us overall.

Circa Mechanical came out in maybe a week after I called in the claim and looked at the AC unit. Their guy came out quickly and right off the bat, he noticed that there was something wrong with either the battery or the compressor. He went ahead and changed it right then and there. Since then, everything has been working fine so far. I like everything about this tech. I would definitely recommend his company again.

The only thing is you can't say more than one problem using the online claim submission of American Home Shield. I thought there were multiple issues but when I went online to do the claim, I was only able to input the first one. They won’t allow me to do two. It took a week for the tech to come out. He looked at it and I guess the claim got denied. I ended up calling. The person I talked to was saying, “No, no, no." I talked to a manager and they understood what I was saying. They then went ahead and scheduled the second guy to come out and send in the review. That's when everything got handled and taken care of.

I've decided to go with American Home Shield because my daughter had acquired their services and I liked the way that they operated. However, they haven't finished doing my job. If you are gonna talk to someone, you’d spend an hour trying to get to an agent that is a little bit hard to understand at times. You ask for a supervisor and you can never get a supervisor. They have a way of deviating a person so he doesn't talk to a supervisor. If you call a person back on the same issue, for example a plumber, and they come and fix one problem, they don't look at another one that you have even though you specified that you not only have a stoppage but you also have a toilet that doesn't work. After the plumber comes into my house for the third time, he finally gets one thing fixed and I wanted the second thing fixed. The job is done partially.

I had to call three times to have American Home Shield send another plumber. As soon as the other plumber came, he knew what he needed and said he was gonna order it and it'd be here in 3 days. This other plumber, I would classify as A+. The other plumber, I can give him a D. That is one of the reasons that Hectors Air Conditioning has been good. The guy is the best air conditioning man that I’ve encountered in my life. He's a very professional man and I like his services. But we got a problem with the ductwork. In talking to three different persons, and last night, the fourth person, she finally told me that the ductwork is not covered. In speaking to the first two agents, they said they would find another contractor to come and work on my ductwork which is part of the air conditioning system of a rental house that I have. After an hour of talking, she finally said they were gonna review it.

Being that I’m getting up in age, paying $50 a month for warranty on certain items in the home was worth it. But American Home Shield is not getting the right people and they’re not taking care of the customers promptly. Right now, I say, “Well, let it work. Let it burn up. I don’t care.” They’re gonna have to replace this because they just serviced it not even three weeks ago. I am trying to get on a side that I have my renter comfortable, that the air conditioning is shutting off the way it’s supposed to, and that the whole central air and heat unit is working properly.

My A/C unit stopped cooling on June 5, 2020. It is July 26, 2020 and it is still not repaired. I submitted my service request and an A/C repair technician came out that same day. His appt time was between 4-6pm but the tech didn't show until 8:15pm and was gone by 8:40pm saying my unit was not pulling full voltage from both sides of the compressor and I needed an electrician to come repair, then an A/C tech would come back out after that if needed. That following Monday an electrician came out. Replaced a couple breakers in my breaker box then tried "one more thing". When he had me turn my heat/AC panel on in my hallway he went outside to see if he could tell what it was doing.

Before he made it to the A/C unit outside there was a loud "BOOM" from outside and all my lights inside flickered several times. The electrician yelled "oh no" from outside, came running back into my house, pointed down the hallway and said "go turn that off, go turn that off!" as he ran to turn the breakers back off. As he walked back through my house to go back out to my unit he laughed and said "Well you may get an entirely new unit out of this, I think I just blew yours up." He left after that. Two days later, the A/C tech came back out again and diagnosed that my compressor needed to be replaced because it had blown up. I received a call on Monday, June 15, 2020 saying the purchase of my new compressor was approved by AHS and the part would be ordered that day.

I was also told it would be sent directly to the A/C contractor and that they should receive it within 3-5 business days. Now remember, that was on June 15th. The A/C contracting company didn't receive my compressor until July 7th and set up an appointment with me to come out and replace it on July 9, 2020. His appt was for between noon and 2pm on July 9th but he didn't arrive until a few minutes after 5pm. He worked until after 8pm then came inside and said "There is an issue but it will be easier to explain if I show you." When I walked out there he showed me that AHS had ordered and sent the A/C contractor the wrong compressor. The compressor that goes with my A/C unit has 2 housings, one on each side, that the wiring goes into. The new compressor they sent only had 1.

The A/C tech did not notice this problem until he had already removed my old damaged compressor and installed and was hooking up the new one AHS sent them. Since it was almost 8:30pm that Thursday night, he said he was just going to leave the new, incorrect compressor hooked up and take my old damaged compressor with him. It is now July 26, 2020 and as of last Tuesday, July 21st, when I spoke with the most recent AHS customer service rep, he was submitting an email to the AHS Escalation Team to research what was going on because my second replacement compressor still had not even been ordered yet in the 11 days since being notified they had sent the wrong compressor.

The AHS customer service department rep told me that their "AHS customer service department" are unable to reach the "AHS purchasing department" by phone. I have requested the last 6 times I have spoken with an AHS customer service rep that I want a supervisor or manager to call me right away. Every one of them has told me they will place the request to have their supervisor call me the next day but I have yet to hear from anyone. I have placed multiple calls throughout this ordeal, waiting on hold for over 35 minutes to over an hour practically every time waiting for someone just to answer the phone.

Every time I call, I speak to a different person of course, and every time I have to explain the entire situation from beginning to end because apparently the notes on my account are not accurate. I am told different information from one call to the next. I have been told every thing from my account has been assigned to a different contractor altogether or just flat out cancelled even though I am STILL sitting here waiting for my repairs to be completed. This has been going on for almost 2 months now and I am still no closer to having my A/C unit repaired than I was when it stopped cooling on June 5th.

Also, on top of having a huge expense to replace all the Freon in my A/C unit because when the electrician blew up my compressor it contaminated the Freon that was in it, I also have the expense of having to board my dog somewhere else for all this time because it has been too hot in my house for her to be here. She is 12 1/2 years old and can't handle this kind of heat. I think AHS needs to consider reimbursing me the total expense of the Freon, not just the $10/pound they currently pay, because of how long their incompetence has drawn this fiasco out. This has all been extremely frustrating and completely disappointing.

I have talked up having this home warranty plan for my home to all my family, friends and co-workers because I thought I was doing a responsible thing having this protection for my home thinking this was a reputable and reliable company looking out for their clients' interests. I did my research and thought I had chosen the best company for the job. Apparently I was wrong. I wonder how much longer this is going to go on before my A/C unit is actually repaired.

We moved into this house and my five-year-old washing machine started making the biggest noise. We couldn't even shut the door and not hear it. It was awful. When it got to the rinse part, it would make such a loud knocking sound that it knocks it off and puts it back on wash. We had Hopwood Electric come out and then order something to fix it. Then the technician came back out and put that part in but it didn't do a bit of good one way or the other. So all that time we were taking our laundry out to do all of our wash by the week. So we waited again. They told us they could not fix it and after that, I even paid a Maytag guy to come out here to verify it. He said he could put in a new transmission but it would cost us. We were standing there looking at a brand new machine that still has the stickers on the top of it.

Then we called Lowe's, went out there and bought a brand new washer exactly like my five-year-old Maytag. That's what American Home Shield covered. We're on our second brand new washer. It's exactly same brand from the same place we bought it from the very beginning, and whether we're washing or not, it's sitting over there clicking like it's a time bomb.

Everybody who has come out here and tried to fix it has sworn that it was not electrical and they've tried everything. We ran an extension cord and put it in to different plugs around the house and it did not make a bit of difference. They put in a new breaker box and we switched but that didn't make one bit of difference either. They didn't think it would but I insisted they go ahead and try it. One of the men who came out put a level on it. They also got down on the floor and looked behind it. We've tried everything with three different washers.

We finally just gave up. We're brand new homeowners in a three-year-old house. That shouldn't have given us any trouble. We felt like it was something electrical but they never would admit it. But the guys were nice so I wouldn't blame them. I wouldn't even question their expertise or competency. I just don't think they could figure it out and all they needed to do was say we had to get a new washer. So we did. I didn't want to. But I had other things to worry about than going over to Lowe's and trying to dillydally with all of that. Luckily, we had a good salesman and he found the exact washer. I took the picture and the serial number with me on my phone. I had all the credentials and the washer was replaced. But it's still the original problem. It's horrible.

Another thing is that American Home Shield was very hard to get a hold of at first. It's unimaginable how long I would hold waiting to talk to somebody. I finally got somebody to suggest that I get up at 7:30 in the morning and be the first caller and I might have a little bit of luck. We set an alarm and I got up at that time and called them but they had already been open for an hour because they were in New York and I'm in Texas so I missed the time. So the next morning, I realized I had to get up even earlier. So we set our alarm by Eastern Standard Time and I got up that morning and I got through pretty quickly. So besides the long wait trying to get through to them, they did a fine job.

1st Choice Appliance came out and fixed the freezer and the dishwasher. I told the tech that the washer wasn't finishing its cycle. They told me that they would fix this and if there was any issues, I could call them back. I've talked to the lady four times and every time she said that she sometimes forget to tell her boss that he needs to come back out there and take a look at it. So I’m still waiting to hear back from them and my claim has been open for about two months.

This is the second time that I've gotten this washer fixed. The first time, the people never even ordered the part and I waited three months. So American Home Shield gave me the $75 back for it. But when they finally came out and supposedly fixed it, it never fixed the problem. I had to send a new order out for it. So it's kind of a pain in the rear end. For me to get off work, go home and wait for somebody that doesn't know what's going on to take care of something that I probably could have paid for myself, that's when it gets frustrating.

The first claim that I had with American Home Shield was when my oven went out and I got the whole oven replaced. It was fantastic. But that's been the only contractor that came in, did exactly what he was supposed to do and leave. I never saw him again. That was the guy that came in and took a look at it. Whenever he installed it, it wouldn't fit exactly how he wanted it to. So he left it there and I had to finish the project. I have American Home Shield because I made sure that when I bought the house, the guy that was selling it to me gave me two years worth of some sort of warranty because I didn't trust him. That was a good reason for me to do it because I've had a lot of issues so far.

It’s nice to know that there's something there to help. But it depends on which transaction. Depending on who I get ahold of, sometimes it's great service and sometimes it's terrible service. Sometimes it feels like it's a company, or people that I have coming out here, come in their regular vehicle and there's no name on them. They come in regular clothing and it seems like it's kind of shady.

American Team came out for our AC and we love them. We've had them multiple times for different calls and they were always great. The person who scheduled the service was very, very professional. She was very, very nice and very good. We love Gus, who is one of their senior people. We usually will wait for him if he was not available. But he wasn't available today because he got hurt so they sent someone else. The person came out and he quickly diagnosed the problem. The condensation motor had shut off and they replaced the condensation pump. It took him 30 minutes and he fixed it. American Team was on time and professional. Gus is extremely knowledgeable about AC. We’ve used him for every issue that anybody's had with AC. He is really good. I'm a Realtor and when I sell a house and I want to suggest a warranty, I always tell them how good American Home Shield has been to us and taking care of all the problems.

American Home Shield has been very good. I had problems sometimes with the people who answers the phone. But this time, when I called to make the appointment, I requested for American Team. The person told me that it was not possible. I replied that I know it was possible and that I can make a request if they're available and they're in the area. The rep said that I couldn't. I told him that I wanna speak to his supervisor. Then he went away for a couple minutes, came back, and said, "Okay. Fine." Because I know how to do it and what to say. I know the program and the contract.

The compressor of my air conditioner needed a run capacitor. I went online and submitted a service request with AHS. Their website was pretty good and easy to use. Then, I was informed that it would take at least 24 hours before the contractors would call and set an appointment. United Air Temp was assigned to my claim and my experience with them was good. They were prompt, they did a good job, and everything has been working since then.

Recently, I had an issue with my plumbing and I had someone come out. They said that they would call the work in to American Home Shield for approval but no one ever called, so I resubmitted the service request. Then I got a notice from American Home Shield saying that the service request was completed and that they denied the request. But I was never told that it was denied and I don't understand why was it denied when it says in my contract that replacing my pressure regulator is a covered item.

Home Shield had Tommy Davis Electrical Services come out for a claim we made for our AC. They worked on it for quite a while. The tech was worried though and said he had to cut down something and put a new fan in. They cut something and added some wire and everything. They did the job and the air works.

Right now, I have something that I have to call in. I was just going through a list of things I have to do. Home Shield is supposed to replace my oven. I had gotten a call but they said that I needed to be in front of the oven in order to contact them. Since I was out of town for a couple of weeks, I couldn't do that. I have to call back about it. With the oven, I’ve had a couple of repairs done with it.

Contractors also came and looked at the dishwasher but since they left, a part of the bottom fell loose. That shouldn't have happened. It was loose all these years. It was more about Home Shield as much it was the people who were working. I had the contractors before but Home Shield sent a different guy out. The guys who came out weren't as complete as the other guy.

The dishwasher wasn't cleaning. I'll put the dishes in and they come out the same way. I did a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. The claims representative seemed to be knowledgeable and helpful. I was told the contractor was supposed to get back with me within 24 to 48 hours, and Hotshot did. They were fine but the issue wasn't resolved. They came in and they put another motor in and some seals around the door to stop the leaking, but my dishes still aren't getting cleaned. They completed the job in the sense that they did what they said they were gonna do, but what they said they were gonna do didn't resolve the problem. I called Hotshot. They said I had to call American Home Shield and get another ticket open. After being on hold for about an hour and 10 minutes, I just let it go.

I'm not satisfied because the problem isn't resolved. I would still recommend American Home Shield because I looked around, and they were the only one that offered a warranty for computers. That was one thing that I thought was an advantage and the good service that they offer because nobody else seemed wanted to offer that. I've been a customer with American Home Shield off and on ever since I've had my house. It's over a 10-year period on and off. I used to be in real estate and I know how valuable the home warranty is. Home Shield was the one that I always recommended to my clients, and I had never had a problem with them. And my clients had never reported to me that they had a problem with them either.

I went online to file the claim and the technician from Quality Climate Heating called me the next day. Then he came out later in the week. He was apologetic ‘cause they got there three hours late. It was nighttime. But he said there was nothing wrong with it so he gave us tips on what to do if I change the filters to a thinner filter. We paid the deductible. This is our first house and it's our first claim. Ironically, it was the same time for our renewal so we were debating back and forth if we renew it. We still ended renewing it again for a year.

I was told the contractor would be available within a day. I was expecting the contractor, JS Heating, to call me but they did not. I called them a week later and they apologized for not calling me back. They then sent somebody the next day. The guy checked out the problem, solved it, and explained exactly what had happened. He helped me see to it that it doesn't happen again. He did a good job.

I've been a part of American Home Shield ever since I bought this house in 2001 and it has been without a break this whole time. My Realtor suggested that I get the coverage and I have been okay with it. I've had some issues where at the time, I wouldn’t have been able to take care of as easily as I did with American Home Shield and with just having to pay the fee that I had to pay. That makes a big difference. If something happens to your refrigerator, hot water heater, or big items that are not within your budget at the time, you have the opportunity to have it fixed for $40. A person comes out, checks it out, and go from there.

My refrigerator stopped working. The motor wasn’t coming on and it wasn't freezing, so everything in there was thawing out and the ice in there was melting. After calling American Home Shield, they gave me the name and the phone number of Jay’s Appliance and Repair. I knew Jay’s from a couple of years ago when he was out on a call. They came out about a week ago. Since Jay's repair this time, the refrigerator has been okay. Everything has been all right. The repair took the anxiety away and relieved a lot of tension within myself of not wanting to lose my food and stuff because my refrigerator was freezing and it was gonna stay frozen.

The tech was pleasant. When he was here, I was set up in my dining area and was just being present in case he needed me for anything. We remembered each other. He had been out here before with my old refrigerator that I had serviced on about four times. American Home Shield had sent someone out and finally about the fourth time for the same refrigerator and the same problem, Jay’s suggested to American Home Shield that I get a different refrigerator. They sent the refrigerator out. As a matter of fact, it’s the same refrigerator that I have now.

Flushers Refrigeration did a really good job. However, I did have a problem when I filed the claim to American Home Shield. It said to call them 'cause it was a Saturday when it happened. The number that was there was not their emergency number. When it's 115 on one day, you can't live without an AC. It's too hot in the house. That was a problem but it wasn't with them. It was more of providing their emergency number so that I didn't have to waste time in calling. I had to call American Home Shield to figure out how to get someone out that day for the situation.

I talked to the contractor and he said he was at another place and as soon as he'd get done with that place, he would be over. He called me when he was done with that and they were amazing. They wore their masks 'cause of the crazy time that we're living in right now. The only other thing was explaining more of what had happened. It was just, "Here, it's fixed," and that's it. It wasn't explained to me as much and it did take a long time to cool off my house. I was worried all Saturday and Sunday morning that my AC was not setting, but it was. Everything's working fine.

He diagnosed the problem fairly quickly then ordered parts. As soon as they got parts in, he called and said he was in town. He would be there in 10 minutes. He got the oven fixed quickly. It was great.

Right now, the appliance is good so far. I imagine it'll be fine for a while. It was an excellent experience. That was the first claim we made and hopefully, we won't have any others. We renewed our service with American Home Shield. It's nice to know that if something goes bad, especially like an AC unit, it would be taken care of for minimal costs.

Drain Go was very, very professional. They were knowledgeable on what they were doing. I will recommend them anytime. I've had AHS for about six months and I had claims with them and the companies came right out promptly. They were consistent. The difficulty lies with COVID-19 with the short staff and answering the phone on time. Besides that, it was perfect.

We've been with American Home Shield for about 15 years. We own a condo in Laughlin and we have a renter in it. The tenants contact my property manager, and they submit the claim to American Home Shield. We live in California and if something breaks, we can't be right there to fix it. We were happy with AHS, so we stuck with them. I was happy with their service and their guys were trustworthy.

It's easy to get service and get anything repaired with American Home Shield. When my microwave oven wasn't heating properly, I went to their website and requested for a service. Then they assigned Axis who called and scheduled to come out. They then showed up, fixed the problem and left. It was all good. The microwave has a new part put in and it's functioning. It's hard to heat up food without a microwave, especially with COVID being around.

Everything went well with High Priority. They fixed the issue and they did it quickly. The guy had to go out to Lowe's or Home Depot and get the part ‘cause he said they didn’t carry it on their truck. But he came right back. From the time he came, assessed the problem and went out to the store, it was no more than an hour or two. He had his mask on too. I don't use American Home Shield very often but I'm pleased with them. The only issue that I had is that we couldn’t get the plumber out here within a day. We went through a weekend before we could get them out here.

Home Shield was very responsive. We called in our claim on a Thursday or Friday and set it up by Monday. That time of the season, we consider that very good response for an air conditioner. Also, Hansen was great.

The AC just stopped working so I filed a claim with Home Shield. The process was very easy and ATR General Services came out the next day. They came and assessed the outside. They determined that maybe something chewed on the wire and the wire may be exposed improperly. They taped it up and moved it a little out of the way. But they could have written up like a recommendation as to how the wiring was done and to prevent that from happening again because I have no idea who to call to ultimately fix the problem and not just fix the symptoms if it happens again.

I initially made the claim because the sump pump was continuously running and it wouldn't shut off. I contacted American Home Shield and they sent out All Clear Plumbing. It was an issue with getting the lid off the sump pump which the guy took time to take care of way beyond what he probably should have done. He really looked out, got the lid off, and corrected the problem that same day. It was some debris stuck inside of the valve. He cleaned out the pump and everything's working well. He was very professional and patient.

Please beware, I opened a case that my AC unit was not cooling on 5/26 and had two independent contractors come in and do their assessment and submitted their findings for a decision to AHS. It has been weeks and I'm still waiting for the next steps and whenever I call them it takes me an 1~2 hours before I am able to talk to someone. Think twice before you sign up for a plan.

Refrigerator failed 6/10/2020. Sent a repair company out that did not work on a closed system. A new one was not dispatched until several phone calls and hours of hold time. New contractor unavailable for 2 weeks. Diagnosed and then had to get further approval. This is where ping pong matches started. Incorrect paperwork filed. No one could approve ordering parts or no parts available. Went on until 7/22/2020 when a new replacement unit was approved. Not quite a perfect match but of course not available. Decided to order unit from Best Buy and take cash from AHS. Let’s see if it gets paid. Before this incident AHS has always been great to deal with. If they could only learn to answer the phone or return a call.

2 Sons Plumbing came out to fix some dripping exterior faucets. They were top-notch. Unfortunately, one of the things started dripping again and they're coming back out to warranty that. I also had them look at two interior faucets that were sending rusty water through. They're galvanized pipes coming out of the wall and if you don't use that bathroom for three or four days and you first turn it on, you get rusty water. They sat for a while and said that was not something they would take care of. They said that's something that American Home Shield wouldn't cover. That would be $600 if we did it on our own. I tried to call American Home Shield and there was over an hour of wait time. I tried to call four times. American Home Shield does not have enough people to answer their phones. I'm not happy with trying to get ahold of somebody via phone. The website's great, but they don't handle problems. When you need to talk to somebody, it's impossible to get ahold of them.

C & C Appliance Repair is still working on the issue. The first person that worked on it didn't have the parts so we had to wait on that. It's been going on longer than two months. We've heard nothing. My husband called in to see what was going on, and found out that individual had COVID so he was being isolated. Then they sent out another person. He had to do a reassessment because information was not shared across people. Now, he ordered the parts. He is coming back tomorrow to fix the problem.

American Home Shield is okay. It's just the wait time when they sub the work out to somebody. We’re in the midst of a pandemic, so I understand the wait may be a little bit longer. But it'd be good to have communication. Because we're not getting the communication timely. We're having to call and check in on that individual. So it makes it seem like our case is not a high priority for this subcontractor.
