American Home Shield sent Advanced Home Services out for an AC issue. It's like a little cylinder that went bad. They were able to replace it and get it fixed. Also, they had to add a little Freon to my system. They told me everything that they were gonna be doing and told me exactly what it’s gonna be if it was any extra, and what I would have to pay extra. So, I was very pleased with their customer service and how they were very professional in doing their job.

I've had American Home Shield for over six years now and every time I have put in a claim, it was very easy when I did it online or even if I called them. Within 24 hours, the contractor that was coming out to do the services will give me a call and then we'll set up a time and then they come out and they do whatever they need to do. Everything has been working smoothly.

I filed a claim and American Home Shield said the contractor had 48 hours but I wanted to make sure it was taken care of. We were going out of town so I didn't wanna wait anymore. I called on the second day to schedule an appointment. Premier Heating Cooling and Refrigeration came out, assessed the situation, and were very informative. They identified that a fuse in the AC had gone out and I needed to replace it. It took them an hour or two to resolve the issue. They didn't have that particular fuse in stock on their van so they had to go out and source it. I've had a home warranty for the last three years and at this point, we're not using it at the same rate which we were and that's the reason I'll cancel it. But American Home Shield was good. I only had the one claim within the one year and I thought they were fine.

A-US Air Conditioning did seem to do a pretty good job restoring, repairing and replacing the AC. The unit they put in is nice. It uses R134a. But they didn't finish the job it seemed to me. The fan doesn't blow air through the house. The air conditioning just kind of drifts out of the vents. There's no push behind it. They also said they will install a thermostat and they never did. I've been calling them for two, three weeks now. The guy keeps telling me he'll send somebody over but he never does. I understand some things are beyond American Home Shield's control like the fact that our refrigerant is no longer used. That was one of the reasons why I went with the new air conditioning unit. Every year during the summer for the last three, four years, the air conditioning went out. We hadn't put a refrigerant in and they said there was nothing they could do and they would have to charge a higher price due to the refrigerant used.

We've been with American Home Shield for 15 years and it's a pretty good deal. I had one problem with it though. When the air conditioning went out last year, I had a spare refrigerator and freezer in my garage, and due to the heat, they failed. They didn't replace or help me with the refrigerator. It was an old refrigerator and I just threw it away.

They really worked hard to resolve it and although it took a few trips, they hung in there and got it done.

I submit claims with American Home Shield on the phone and the contractors are pretty quick in getting out here. We have three HVAC units and we had a claim for the unit downstairs on our kids' side of the house. Millenial HVAC came out and they were very communicative. I was extremely pleased with them. They worked with it and kinda got it running the first time. But the next day, it quit running. We had them out again and they told us it was probably the compressor but they were not gonna replace it. They told us upfront that they don't get paid very well if it is a compressor and the compressor is gonna cost more than that.

I was very appreciative of the honesty but we didn't get our equipment fixed. We've never had a problem with American Home Shield in the past. It's been the best insurance we've ever had and we've gotten a lot of good things from them. They've always stood behind what we've had issues with, with the exception of this one. This is the only issue we can't seem to get fixed.

It took me a day into the next day to dry clothes where it normally takes two loads for them to dry. I had someone come out. All of a sudden when it was time to wash again the next week, I had the same problem where the drying was taking me all the way into the next day. I called American Home Shield for somebody to come back out. Another guy came out from Sears and now everything is great. He said the dryer needed to be pulled out and set up against the wall because of the core that was connected to go out to where the stuff go out. It should be pulled out but instead, it was crunching it and that’s where all the stuff was staying, which was right in one spot, and that's why the clothes weren't drying. Now, my unit seems to be working again because I just washed again and the clothes dried one time. It was probably about another five minutes on the next dry.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield is easy. I only had a problem one time where a unit was messed up and we didn't have any heat. A contractor came out and they didn't wanna fix that. I ended up going to somebody else and kept talking to a different supervisor. They finally called me back and said they apologize. They were gonna have it done. Otherwise, I love American Home Shield. I've been referring it to people because I really like it and it's really good. If anything breaks down, I know people will look at it. A bill is paid every month. And if something doesn't break down, you're paying money but you're really not.

When they fixed the electricity in the living room, the electricity in the kitchen didn't work. When they fixed the electricity in the kitchen, the electricity in the bedroom didn't work. The technician suggested that maybe it was from the breakers. He did change the breakers and it worked perfectly since that day. He was very friendly and professional. He did care that we had some part of the house where the electricity was not working. We are working from our house and I have two of my sons who are students. My AC stopped working, so R Harris came and helped me fix it. I went online and submitted my claim to American Home Shield. The website is pretty good. The contractor came a couple of days later which is okay. I would have preferred for them to come the next day because under this summer heat, it's hard to stay without an AC. The gentleman who came was very friendly, and he seemed to be knowledgeable and he helped me fix it without any issues.

Within the first year with American Home Shield, we had two issues happen so far. One of the issues not fixed yet is the water heater. What I realize was that American Home Shield covers the replacement of the water heater. But then, the installer comes with his own list of things. Apart from what American Home Shield is providing money to replace the water heater, they're asking me to pay another $650 for additional work that is not covered by AHS. I have a water heater that is going bad. It needs to be fixed so I just want my replacement of the water heater. I had already paid $100 towards the first service fee.

When we called, AHS said they no longer worked with that contractor and would send a new company out. They never came, and did not return 4 phone calls to set an appointment. We called AHS, waited forever for an agent, who apologized and said she would assign the job to another contractor. Never heard another word. There is no place on their website to contact customer service except to call. I have been on hold for 42 minutes as of right now, still cannot get through their customer service line. We have had excellent service from AHS in the past, but something has changed. Now, I would recommend you look elsewhere for your warranty.

My microwave is covered by a American Home Shield warranty. It's broken. Here is the experience I have had trying to get it repaired. American Home Shield has assigned three vendors thus far. The work order was first assigned to Appliance 911, when I contacted them they told me they did not have enough technicians to remove the appliance and see what parts were needed. So I went back to American Home Shield. The second vendor assigned was Pinnacle Appliance Repair, they replaced parts, but found that this did not fix the problem and left. I called American Home Shield and they stated a new dispatch had to be created to send Pinnacle back to get an estimate for replacement. Pinnacle did not respond, so I called and found that American Home Shield had reassigned the work to Sears.

Upon contacting Sears they had absolutely no idea what I was referring to and told me I needed to contact American Home Shield. I went back to American Home Shield and they said they would again schedule Sears. The Sears appointment is now scheduled for July 30, 2020. I have not had a functioning microwave for two months. At best, if Sears makes the repairs two weeks from now, on July 30, I will not have had a microwave for two and a half months. I think American Home Shield thinks I will eventually just buy a new microwave and they won't ever have to pay for the repair.

We got latched on American Home Shield when we bought the house. I would've preferred to choose my own but in a situation like warranties, you never actually wanna use them. So, I'm glad they weren't terrible. I called them up on a whim as I was personally exploring options to fix the thing myself and then, at the back of my mind, I remembered that this was free. The worst that could happen was that AHS was gonna give me some runaround. The interactions with them were short and sweet. I told them I had a problem with my system and they said they were sending a guy.

The contractor communicated a lot and worked around our schedule. They were quick. It was one of those deals where it was an insurance-handled situation and I didn't even know who was going to be sent out but as soon as they got on the call, they were on the ball. So, customer service-wise, they were top-notch. There was a young girl that was in charge of the desk and she was my main contact for every call. They couldn't get me a service for weeks out, which makes sense because of the heat but I got a call one evening saying that their lead tech finished up early on a job and was able to let me in. So, it was within days instead of weeks, with the heat coming and all that.

They came out and took a survey of what was going on. They ended up fixing the problem within a few minutes, which was shocking. But even with that, they went through a preliminary check and gave me my money's worth. They went through and discovered a couple of things that could be fixed. They suggested a couple of filter alterations that I could do. They didn't necessarily say that I had to get my service through them to have the filter changed but with all the expenses going on, I went with them and they scheduled another service. A couple of days later, the guy came out and made some modifications on the device. He put a new filter in and since then, it has worked better than it ever has.

We live in an older home and things happen. My husband doesn't know electrical stuff and anything like that. So, it's nice to know that we can call American Home Shield. One of the things our garage door needed wasn't covered, but it is what it is. Also, I had to have my cooktop replaced and the contractor came out and ordered it. When they got here, they said it was not gonna fit because there was this piece of wood in here. That needed to be cut out and the contractor doesn't do any of the carpentry work. So, I had to find somebody to do that. Then, I was supposed to call them back to have them hook it up but my neighbor who happened to be in town said he could do it. If you have somebody that can do it, that’s great but that's not any fault of theirs.

We had an electrical issue and when the electrician got here, he got on the ladder and all he had to do was flip the switch. Our cleaning people were here and he asked if they cleaned the fans. I said yes and he said that they hit the switch. This was an $800 fan and we thought maybe it was bad but he said that it’s a good fan. The service cost us 75 bucks and it was dumb on our part, but he was very nice and friendly. I wish that AHS wouldn't go up every year but that's business. We recommended them and our neighbors next door signed up for a plan.

I had American Home Shield at another home and then I transferred it to this home four years ago. I'm kind of disappointed in them compared to how they used to be years ago. I noticed that they've changed a lot. I'm really not pleased with them ‘cause I had an issue last year with my air conditioner and nobody could find anything. I knew something was going on ‘cause my air wasn’t getting cool and then it just started working. I got the runaround like crazy.

I had two or three vendors to come out here. AHS was not communicating with vendors that was why some of the vendors failed because they didn't give all the information that the vendors needed. There was one vendor they sent out that never handle the issue they said it was so then they had to assign it to somebody else. AHS needs to be specific in what the issues are before they even send the vendors out and wasting everybody’s time. They've changed their coverage too because we now have to pay for refrigerants and that type of thing. But luckily, I haven't had any major issues or other things that I actually have to keep calling them out here to do.

Recently, my house wasn't getting cool. I noticed that one of the hose that was connected to the system outside was frozen. When I had spoken to the lady, she told me to make sure to turn the thermostat and stuff off. I did that and it thawed out. When the guy came, he changed the filter, checked the system outside, and he said he didn't see any leak. I noticed that it froze again a week or so ago. I turned it off, just let it thawed out for a day, and turned it back on. I'm not sure what causes the hose to freeze. I would think it was a leak, but the guy said he didn't find any of that.

Seabolt’s Heating and Cooling is always nice to work with. He always answers the phone when I call to ask questions. He's really good about coming out if there's a problem, like when they installed the AC unit, it didn't work and he called to follow up and check. I said it did not work so then he came back. We all stayed far away from each other and then they didn't wear masks, but I didn't feel like they had done anything bad.

However, I'm not particularly happy with American Home Shield right now. It's been three months and we're still waiting on a microwave. The waiting time depends on the appliance. 40% of the time, it's like that, but 60% of the time, it's excellent and fast. The people who are installing it said that it's American Home Shield but American Home Shield said that it's the people who are installing it. So we're still fighting this battle, but in general, American Home Shield is good.

A problem that I used to have with American Home Shield is that whenever their contractors would show up, they would need my $75 upfront before they even walk through my door. A lot of them would show up, get the $75 and act like they were checking stuff then leave. For the most part, those contractors were a bunch of crooks. I called a complained about them some time back. Now, AHS charges it to my credit card and they don't let their contractor pick up the money like they used to. I like their current policy to collect the service fee after the job is completed.

Submitting claims to AHS has been easy. They let me know who they will be sending out. Most recently, my rental house's AC unit wasn't cooling the house. I sent a claim to AHS and their contractor Sub Temp Air Conditioning and Heating came for service. The tech looked at my system and said that if it's over 100 degrees outside, my unit would only run at 80% capacity. So, I could only cool the house 20 to 25 degrees lower than what the temperature outside is. I've had American Home Shield forever. I get insurance for everything and we have five or six accounts with them. I even got my mom, my mother-in-law and several of my friends on it. I've had a pretty good experience with the company and so I continue using their service.

We’re satisfied with American Home Shield. Having a home warranty is great ‘cause you never know what's gonna happen. When we submitted our first claim, we didn't have a hard time. Working with the contractor was simple. They were great about calling us and letting us know they were on their way, which was convenient because then we knew when to be home. The only thing is they couldn't fix it so I have submitted a receipt of a new microwave that I installed myself. I got an email a few days later after I submitted the receipt, and American Home Shield is cutting a check over for the amount that they had approved for the replacement. It takes a few days but I don't know if it was sent out yet. I called and I was on the phone for about two hours waiting to talk to somebody but it's different now because of this whole COVID. Worst case scenario, if it’s over a week, then I'll call back.

The contractor came out and they said that they had to recontact Home Shield to see what needs to be done with my bathroom fan. I'm still waiting on someone to recontact me to find out exactly what's gonna happen. The contractor stated that the one that was installed wasn't supposed to be in the bathroom. He had to get confirmation to find out if they were gonna replace it or what was gonna happen with my request. I was never recontacted and it's been at least a few months. This is the first time with this contractor and I've never had this issue before with Home Shield. Most of the contractors have always been pretty good and responsive in getting things fixed.

I just had another claim two weeks before. And as soon as that company heard about my issue, they contacted me. On the other hand, InterTech put the warranty contract on the back burner because I had to call them to see when I could get on the schedule. Last year, I had an issue and it took them forever to resolve it. So, I'm not really keen on them as a company. But the individual that they sent was delightful. It's much more affordable to pay a plumber's fee with Home Shield than it would be them just coming to my home and being able to charge me whatever they wished. It's a good value.

I've been having trouble with the dryer and I already had American Home Shield come out several times with that. The guy from Sears did the work and then it did the same thing. He changed the same part and another one. The last issue was that it sounded there were shoes in the dryer, like a big noise. I thought it was the bearings and then I had three different things wrong with it. I called AHS and it took forever for me to get them. Sometimes I wait on hold for an hour on the phone. I talked to different reps. I had to keep calling back. They told me when the appointment would be but it never was.

I did without the dryer for two months. I hung stuff outside. I also had to go to the washateria during that time. The same thing with my washer. I had to go to the washateria in December. I have five people in the household and it cost a fortune to wash for that long. Now, the little guy from Legendary Service who came did excellent work. He was sweet, organized, and very helpful. He worked on my washer but it was my dryer that was replaced. It took a while to get it but I then I did.

Then it was a month exactly on the 25th that it was delivered and it went out. It's still under warranty. I called American Home Shield to tell them that and the guy said that I gotta pay $100 service fee. I told him that it was 30 days that day that I got it and I won't pay that amount. I called back and got another representative and he said to call Whirlpool and I shouldn't have to pay anything so I did. They're gonna come out next week to fix it. I don't know what's wrong. The light comes on in the dryer but every dial I put it on doesn't work. It's just blank.

AHS is a good company. You pay $200 and then they come out but it takes forever to get them there. You're gonna be stuck without things for a long time. I had a hot water tank that they replaced but I stayed without water for over 14 days. I had to wash my dishes with a hose outside. I also had to go to people's houses to bathe.

My initial service call was a horrible experience. I was on hold for three hours and I literally stayed on hold because my AC went out. AHS could not get me connected with anyone. Once I got a chance to speak to the representative, they referred my claim out. Also, the individuals did not get back with me until three weeks later.

Then, whenever I started my dishwasher or whenever I had a large amount of water draining at one time or whenever I ran my garbage disposal, there was a large puddle of water under my kitchen sink. I called American Home Shield and I went through a series of prompts, but I ended up speaking with a live person. The representative was very helpful, prompt, and professional. I appreciated him. They gave me a time for the contractor to come out. As a matter of fact, I called them because that was my second service call. Patriot Plumbing came and it was amazing. They looked at the problem. The guy immediately knew what the issue was. He replaced what needed to be replaced, and now I don't have that problem anymore. It was a quick in-and-out. They had their mask on when they needed to wear their mask and were very respectful. Overall, the experience was hit-and-miss. I just happened to hit this time and it was great.

The spring on the motor part broke and the garage door was half up and half down. The garage door had to be manually put down until the guy from Hometown Garage Doors came. We don't have a lot of garage door opener repair people around here and he came from Oklahoma City. He called me the day before to ask me a good time to come and then, whenever he asked me what it was doing and I told him, he said that he knew exactly what he needed to bring with him. He said he would need to run by the shop and get that. So, when he came down the next day, he said that it was exactly what I described to him and he fixed it. I was impressed with him.

I like that whenever something breaks down, I can call American Home Shield and in a matter of a few minutes, I usually have it saying that they've already assigned the contractor. The garage door didn't break until 6 o'clock in the evening so the next morning, he contacted me and now, it's fine. I counted the other day that we've had six claims and I have been an advocate to other people about AHS. I had a friend who got back from vacation and in just a few hours, they noticed that the freezer went out. Luckily for her, it was under the manufacturer warranty but there were several of them saying that if it happened to them, it would be horrible. I said that it’s the one thing I like about American Home Shield. You call them and they'll come take care of it and fix it.

Everything has been great. A friend of mine that I had told about American Home Shield was telling me that he had looked it up and on the heating and air conditioning unit, he said that AHS doesn't replace it if they can't fix it. And I said that I’m pretty sure it does. He said that he’ll look into that because he was thinking that that would definitely be worth it if your heating and air unit ever went out. He said that they'll just pay up to $1,500 on it and I told him that there are different deductibles. But I haven't called to check. He just told me that the other day.

I had a service request with American Home Shield that I did online. I had no problem with the service request, although they need to provide an option where you can type in the problem as opposed to selecting from their own little menu that they provide, which is kinda limited. The gentleman from the company that came out was very professional. He did what he said he was gonna do. He looked at the system and told me what was wrong. He put a new capacitor in, wherein I've had another company come out and say that I needed Freon. He said my Freon levels were fine. He turned it on, and it cooled the room like it's supposed to.

In the last year, I've used about five American Home Shield contractors, and each one has come out and done the job. I've had no problem with any of them. One thing that has stuck in my closet is when I had a service call and the contractor came out and said, “Mr. **, what you’re asking for is not warrantied so we can't do any work.” And I wasn't refunded my funds that are required to have a technician come out. He came out, didn't do any work because it wasn't covered, but still, American Home Shield charged me for it. Also, this may be to no fault of their own and it may be due to the COVID situation, but when I tried to reach them via phone, I have been on hold for as long as an hour. If you're trying to discuss payment, they pick right up. But if you’re trying to discuss a problem that you're having, then, you tend to be on hold for quite a long time.

I don't know what they cover as far as the appliances. I read a lot of negative feedback about American Home Shield. And I have a very bad experience with American Home Shield's coverage. I am blind with my coverage because when I bought the house, it was my agent who bought it for me and then everything is not covered.

I had a heart attack calling everybody because I had a gas leak. The first company who was contracted with American Home Shield wanted me to wait for like more than a week to fix it. They came back and forth. They didn't have anything on their hands to replace it right away or to check it right away. It was about the safety of the house. What if there was burning? I was very frustrated. My house was smelling. I was not able to shower. I was not able to cook. I was living in the house with a gas leak.

The company that they sent checked and there was a gas leak. They did not fix it because they didn't have the materials to fix it. It was Thursday. Then they didn't have anybody in the weekend. So I had to wait on Monday. I was begging the resolution team because this is a health safety issue. It's fixed now but that was after almost two weeks. I had to go to my neighbor to take a shower. I never cooked. I went outside with my son to eat. It was really a nightmare. The contractor didn't return my calls. I kept calling them hundred times.

T & J Investments did a good service. But I was very disappointed with Jaeger Electric. I had a ceiling fan that had been installed. The first day that the contractor had installed it, it was working. But for some reason, after it got turned off, it stopped working. I was not able to get it working with the remote and it wasn't working through the switch. When I first called American Home Shield, they sent out a guy with Jaeger Electric. He came in and gave me 10 minute max. He looked at the fan, took it down, and took my sensor out and my remote. He told me he would need to contact American Home Shield and get an approval for the replacement of the fan and that they would be in touch. But he was in a hurry.

Then I got an email from American Home Shield that the job had been completed. I called and complained. This guy didn't even give me the time of day to figure out what the heck was going on. So then they called T & J and the guy immediately knew what the problem was with the fan. He installed a new switch and my fan is working like a charm.

I’ve had American Home Shield's service many years back. Now that I have American Home Shield again, I don't know where they're picking up these people to do their repairs and to fulfill customer needs. I had a great job done for the garbage disposal and the ceiling fan was also a great job after I complained. I had a claim for my washing machine and I paid American Home Shield around the middle of June and I got a call from Appliance Repair Experts. They came out on the 26th of June and the guy looked at my washing machine. He completely messed up the setting on it. He kept turning it off, turning it on, opening up the lid, and it's one of those that has all electrical up on top. I told him exactly what was wrong with it. I told him to let the cycle run so that he could see and hear what was going on with my washing machine.

The guy convinced himself that it was best for him to wait. But he knew nothing about what the hell was going on. He said he was gonna get back to American Home Shield about ordering parts. The washing machine needed a new transmission. He told me it would be five to seven days before they call us and come back. He said he would make another appointment to service our washing machine again. I was okay with that.

I waited 10 days but I didn't get a call from anybody. I called the company and they were closed until the 20th for COVID. Then I got the email from American Home Shield saying my work order was complete. I was on the phone yesterday for an hour and a half waiting for some agent at American Home Shield to answer the call. I didn't wanna hang up because I knew I wouldn't be able to get them again. I called the appliance repair people before I made the phone call to American Home Shield and they said they requested approval for the parts. They said the parts were backordered and American Home Shield closed out my order.

When I finally got ahold of American Home Shield yesterday, I had such a bad connection, but the rep said they would call Appliance Repair Experts. He put me on hold for about 10 minutes. He came back on the phone and said, "I've opened up a new order. I've opened up your order for your washing machine to be repaired. They will be calling you." But how much longer am I gonna have to wait? I have received lousy, lousy, lousy service from American Home Shield. I am disappointed with how they treat their customers and the lack of concern about their customer needs.

We're going through a hard time right now. But there's gotta be a way that American Home Shield can verbally follow up with their paying customers to find out has their service been done. Everything is done by phone and I understand a lot of people are working from home. But they're being paid for a service that they're not providing in a due diligent time. It is horrible.

Dempsey Oil's service was excellent. They have two professionals that I've worked with and both of them were stellar. The only issue I really had was there were two calls for the same item and it wasn't a call that I've made. It was a second call that AHS had put in the database with a different tagline. It’s furnace and it’s boiler and they made a second item for boiler. They wanted to charge me another $125 ‘cause it looked like I had a third call at the time. I explained to them that there was no other call and they were good about fixing it.

I have had American Home Shield for a year. I had received it originally through the purchase of my house. I had negotiated for this because of the AC looking aged. It also looked damaged on the corners from the previous owner's pets. I had illustrated my concern with american home shield when getting my warranty. That there was previous damage from the owner before. However they responded no concern here. You are still covered. I went on with my enjoyment of my new house my wife and me in joy. A few months ago my ac went out. I called, paid the 75 just for the man to replace a fuse and leave. Unfortunately, I wasn't home as I would have had a issue because fuses are a preventive from shorting the whole system. Something had to of caused the issue. However, it was working. Wife was happy so I was happy.

9 days ago my ac went again. I pay the 75. 5 days later someone comes out and states it is the condenser fan. The next day I get emailed that they are getting a second opinion. That person comes stating that the coils are exposed because of the previous damage, that by replacing the condenser fan it still won't be a efficient unit. Furthermore, asking for a replacement of the unit. I get then a email the next day saying there are limitations to my plan and need to call. I call and they tell me they will not cover the unit because of the coil damage. That is insane, the damage to the ac is the reason I got the warranty originally. I stated this to them when I bought the house. They were fully aware of this and still said I was covered. Just to wait until the day it fails to use that as the excuse as the reason they won't approve the replacement.

Do not trust these people. They are dark and shady. Customer service is downright despicable. They made me wait 5 days in 90 + degree heat with a wife, baby, and disabled child that is just downright heartless. I have never felt so cheated by a company. Please listen to me and don't go down the same road I did. Now I have no ac and my family is suffering.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield (AHS) on June 21, 2020. I had a leaking water heater and my tenant called a plumber who came out and said that the water regulator was bad and needed to be replaced. The water regulator was making the water pressure too high in the house which was causing the leak on the water heater. I told my tenant that I would call my home warranty. I filed a claim and the next day a plumber came out. I called that plumber and told him what the previous plumber had said. He inspected the issues and agreed with the first plumber. He told me that he would have to call my home warranty for approval.

Later that day I received a call from AHS letting me know that my claim had been denied. They told me that high water pressure was not covered. I told the rep that I had reviewed my contract and that it specifically stated water regulators. I told the rep that water regulators regulate the pressure of the water. He said he would have to call the technician (plumber) for more information. FOUR weeks later, here I am...calling every other day, waiting up to an hour and a half to speak to a AHS rep who keep telling me that my claim has been denied. After arguing with them and asking them to read ALL the notes they tell me they haven't been able to get a hold of the plumber and that they've left him messages. They tell me that they'll send a message to contract relations about this plumber and that they've escalated my claim. This, I have learned, means absolutely NOTHING!

The water heater continues to leak causing secondary damage. I've tried communicating with them via instant messenger and get the exact same response. "I've left the technician a message, have sent our contract relations a message and we'll get back to you within 24-48 hours." I feel as if I'm at their mercy. I've already paid my service call fee of $100 and my monthly installment payment and they really don't care. Today I waited 1.5 hours and spoke to "John." He put me on hold and then the line mysteriously disconnected. I called back and spoke to "Elijah" who put me on hold and came back and said that she had spoken to the technician who said he couldn't talk to her right now and hung up on her. She said she would call him again later.

Today I had to hire a plumber who came out and replaced the regulator and fixed the water heater. I had no choice...IT'S BEEN FOUR WEEKS!!!! I told Elijah that I needed to hire a plumber and she advised against it saying that they wouldn't cover it if it's through an unapproved vendor. I asked her how long should I wait for AHS to do something? Another month? Two months? How long? She apologized and said her hands were tied. In addition to this post, I am contacting the California Department of Insurance (CDI)---I happen to be a fraud investigator for the CDI, the Department of Real Estate to file an advisory on home warranty plans and other social media platforms. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST!!!!

We filed a claim on our leaking water heater with AHS. They sent out their plumber. The technician agreed the WH needed to be replaced but then proceeded to write up the diagnosis as water damage caused by a leaking roof. We have lived in our home 15 years and have never had a roof leak. AHS immediately denied the claim. The authorizations dept individual I spoke with refused to allow a second opinion from an independent licensed plumber that I agreed to pay for.

I ended up hiring a qualified plumber who replaced my WH at my expense. He was shocked when I told him the previous plumber’s diagnosis of the cause of the WH failure. He said there was absolutely no evidence of a leak. He even wrote it in his repair report. The plumber that replaced the water heater provided pictures to prove there was no leak in addition to his report indicating such. I am not asking for something I am not entitled to, only something that I have paid for and am owed under the terms of my contract. It is impossible to speak with someone at American Home Shield unless you have hours to spend on the phone, most of the time only to be transferred to another department to again wait.

You will get the run around for weeks if you get any customer service at all. They will fix an item 5 to 6 times a year. I have had my washer and dryer fixed at least 5 times combined paying $75 dollar service charge each time. Finally after 3 return calls on my washer I overhear the Tech who put the agent on speaker so I could hear, attempted to be coerced into fixing the washer while he is clearly telling her the washer needs to be replaced. That was a week and a half ago. Minus a few service charges and paid membership for 13 years. 13 years! They should be giving me 3 washers.

He was nice and said it was my cooling coil, he would talk to the AHS, order the part in which he did and call me to replace the coil and it would be done by Wednesday or Thursday the next week. It's been 114-115 out here and I am older with a person that does chemo. I have called so many times, put on hold, hung up on, told misinformation, still waiting for a supervisor to call me. 8 days and nothing yet, last night I reached out again and talked to ALVIN and she promised me she would call me this morning NOTHING.

The AC contractor told me Monday when I called him that the REP. said it was too soon because my policy kicked in almost 2 weeks ago, this confused me. When I called him again he repeated the same thing and said they denied my claim. He has the part but authorization isn't doing anything and it's so hot in my house. Getting ready to cancel this policy. AHS said it a pre-existing condition but hasn't contacted me at all. Poor service. Run.

Please read reviews before going with this company. We have had a malfunctioning dishwasher (leak/ won't turn on) for 70 business days. Before you purchase AHS be sure to try their "live chat" button on their website, which they claim works but is actually just an icon without a hyperlink. Also, please try calling their service line for existing claims to see how long you will wait (1 hr min each time for me), as well as how poor the connection is between you and the service rep. If you get hung up on after asking them for their name or for a supervisor, don't be surprised, that has happened at least 4 times for me.

Some other important things to note- they don't have an email address, so if you want to document your communication or send this written information, that won't be an option. They will close claims that shouldn't be closed, without speaking with you. They will promise to return your call, but they won't. And when they finally say that you will be connected to a supervisor, what they actually mean is that they will place on hold long enough for you to give up, and will then transfer you to another operator who will then place you on another hold which will connect you to the Parts Department.

Aside from poor or lack of communication, they will make false claims- like that you have to wait for "SR Tech" to look at your appliance since the previous tech couldn't fix it. Then, after waiting an extra week for the more knowledgeable person to be available, they will send the same individual who was unable to fix it in the first place. It is almost funny how bad our experience has been. I wish I could say this was something we experienced only once with them, but it has been our entire experience (10 phone calls, 3 service home visits).

This is the 2nd time I've contacted AHS to fix an issue and been told by the contractor that the service "is not covered". They basically charge a service fee to have someone come out to your home to give a quote that would be free if you just contacted the company directly. For this particular service, I called because I get no airflow at all in one of the bedrooms in my home (purchased last September). No one contacted me to set up the appointment. A message was left on my phone late at night that someone would be out the next day but the time wasn't good for me, I couldn't be home due to work. I called first thing the next morning and had to leave a message, no one called back. The technician called about 30 mins prior to my appointment time to say he was on the way and I told him I couldn't be home and that I tried to reschedule with his office but no one answered or returned my call.

I finally reached someone late in the afternoon to be told that they don't set appointments, they route and you just have to make due with their time. They couldn't reset the appointment on the phone but told me they would attempt to schedule on a Friday (the only day I can reliably be home all day). They never contacted me to reset the appointment, but I got a text message on Friday (today) to say someone was headed to my house. Luckily I was home.

The tech (who was pretty nice while he was here) showed up and looked at my ductwork only to, as always, say the fix wasn't covered and the whole ducting system needed to be replaced because it wasn't installed properly when the house was built, nothing could be done to fix the airflow problems but he could email me a quote for the work later tonight. The guy was nice, but I wonder about whether or not he was being truthful because this seems to be the response of any contractor who comes out to look at any system.

I called AHS to try to find out what exactly is covered because every time I use them I pay for someone to tell me they have to quote work not covered by the warranty and after holding for over an hour some person in whatever country reads off of a piece of paper and says "I'm sorry" to every question asked, then they read me the contract that I'm looking at and which says nowhere that the issue isn't covered. They claim they'll have a supervisor contact me but since no one has ever contacted me if I have an issue I am not holding my breath.

There is no good way to contact them on the website. The fees are exponential for nothing but to get a quote because it seems nothing at all is actually covered. Terrible customer service. Totally not worth the money. They don't actually cover anything at all. They use no-name companies with terrible reviews to do work. DO NOT BUY A HOME WARRANTY FROM THESE PEOPLE!! RUN RUN AWAY!!

I put in a claim on 23 June 20 about my A/C not working/cooling. The first company could not get to us soon enough so I called back to get someone else. They gave me another company who came out and said the the unit had to be replaced. No longer parts available to fix the unit. I never received a status report from AHS so I called only to be on hold for over an hour each time. Finally I was told that the company never put in his report, so the agent call and emailed the company and then closed out the order. They put in another work order so that someone else could come out and the company told us that AHS had sent them out for a second opinion. I checked for the status of this company and then called, now we were told that they were trying to find replacement parts.

We are still waiting as of the 23rd of June. Each time I call I get a different answer about the status of getting the system fixed. I call everday 5am in the morning till late at night still waiting over an hour and getting different answers but no resolve. One time I was able to talk to the resolution team and spoke with an agent name Tammy, she was very rude and nasty. When I explained to her that we had been without air since the 23rd of June she told me that I don't need to tell her how hot it is because where she lives is also a hot state. "RUDE". She has air and we haven't had air since the 23rd of June. She told me that she was the approving person and once they find the part then she will have it go to purchasing for the AC company to fix it. She also told me that I would have to pay almost $900.00 out of pocket for the modification and freon, so that when they find the coils it can be altered to fix my unit.

That's not what the contract states, I have reported this and have asked for the calls to be escalated to a supervisor and have been told that there is no one available. Today is the 17th of July and still my claim status in the computer is as follows: (Authorization under review). I received no updates, no calls and every time I call no one seems to be able to help. This makes no sense, the temps in GA have been in the high 80-to 90 plus. They have not offered any resolve at all. My contract states that they will repair it or replace it and this has not been done.

On Wednesday of the next week I called to see when the job would be finished and was advised that American Home Shield was contacted and the washer needed to be replaced as they could not fix. I had immediate assistance and they scheduled an appointment. The first time the technician from United Air Temp came here, he did nothing and I got really upset. He said he didn't have the tools and that it should be with a plumber. I told him I didn't know any of that and that the problem is in my AC and they were the ones sent by my insurance. I told him to take care of it.

One of the pipes was leaking and he was insisting there was no leak, which was a little annoying. My hands would go through the pipes and they would come wet but he said his fingers were always dry. It was confusing. Then, he just tightened the pipe. He said something was loose and that was the problem. But an hour after he left, it started leaking again and I had to call them back. I asked them to not send that technician but they said it had to be the same technician and if things don't work out, they would send another one. But he came in and he already knew what the problem was. He said he had more tools and he changed the pipe. He changed the thing that connects the pipes and he took care of everything. Everything is functioning but there is a little spot that is wet and has a lot of green from the water.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and any further charges to my credit card will be reported as fraudulent. There is literally no other way to cancel your contract than by calling. He ended up having to come back a second time to verify things. He put in the time and he did a good job. I wanna keep my warranty with Home Shield. It's a great insurance policy to have.

The submission and payment process with American Home Shield have all been fine although sometimes, when I put in a request, there's not always an option to put in more detail. So, when the plumber or the contractor does call, I have to either repeat or they are looking for more information. There should be an opportunity to put that in the request form beforehand or ahead of time. But everybody has been very respectful and helpful. Sometimes, I don't always love paying $75 every time somebody comes up but I know that’s way better than what it could be. I received some help fixing a couple of toilets and the one thing that I didn't receive much help on was installing a water filter but that might not be in the scope of what's covered. So, the contractor gave me some advice and said that they could come back if I needed help but I wasn't given much of a direction on that one and I had to get some outside help.

I've had really good service with American Home Shield and I've already renewed my contract for next year. Draingo came out for my claim and the tech brought the part, replaced it and fixed it in one trip. I had another claim for my hot water heater. The contractor had to order a unit and they were able to get one through Home Depot. It took an extra day but they came out quickly. They were very professional and they took care of the problem. A few months later, I had a similar problem with the new hot water heater and they came right back out. The issue was with a pop-off valve. The tech fixed it immediately and it was good to go. So I had really good results with them.

Most of the time, I do my claims online. It's easier and I can just set it up. American Home Shield has responded back pretty quickly and easily. When the garbage disposal went out, I did the claim online that night and I had a response back. The contractor contacted me quickly to get the appointment set up the next day. Then they got somebody out.

There were a few times when we would set the AC unit to come on, let's say, at 70 degrees and it wouldn't click on for maybe two hours. One time, my wife and I left to go do something. By the time we came back, it still hadn't come on although eventually, it did. The contractor showed up on time, came in, checked the AC and did the work they needed to do on the inside. They cleaned out a clogged drain. We had someone come out a few days after them and inspect our roof. Our insurance company mentioned that the covering of the AC unit that protects the machinery and such needed to be replaced. The contractor should've seen that and maybe done that work as well, even though we called because the interior was not cooling.

The service with American Home Shield has been decent. In the past, we had some problems and we've noticed that some changes have been made. We had some issues in 2016 and 2017. One was with an electrical company that came out with the ceiling fan. When the guy finished, we had a cord that when you pull to turn on the fan, it would be broken off. They had to go up there and replace it. Once the guy replaced it and put in a new cord, we had a ticking noise with the ceiling fan. We said that we had just bought the ceiling fan not long ago and it didn't make any noise. They said that over time, they start making those noises. It didn’t happen and the guy went out and said that he had done all that he could. At that time, we had written a check. While I was waiting for him to come give me the bill so I can give him the check, he just drove off then complained and said we didn't pay. American Home Shield went on his side.

We also called another company to fix something with an old refrigerator and they made some comments to my wife while I was at work. The guy was putting his body on the table and shoving it. My wife told him that if he breaks the table, he was gonna buy it. It’s a Havertys table and he didn't wanna pay for it. That made him mad, so he started threatening my wife and he drove off. My wife called me at work and tell me that the guy was very aggressive. Now, we don't allow anyone in the house with my wife by herself because of the way he spoke to her and American Home Shield still charged us.

The contract has had a pause in it. We changed and went to Sears for a moment because of what happened. We went back to American Home Shield for the cost but there were times where it seemed like some of the contractors were not rated the highest. The only reason we haven't replaced AHS is because we had illness in our family and we started doing other things. But since then, the policy has changed whereas we pay American Home Shield and American Home Shield pays the company. So, we haven't called American Home Shield for much.

Then when the company called to make the appointment, the rep had asked some questions. They sent out a repair person to do the evaluation. We troubleshot so we pretty much knew what it was. They didn't have the part so they scheduled to come back. The technician came back the next day and fixed it.

Maui diagnosed the problem but they didn't have this part on their truck, so they ordered it. It took them about a week to get that and then they came out and fixed it. They just popped it right in and it took them less than 10 minutes and everything worked fine after that.

Both the stove and refrigerator got taken care of to be replaced.

I've had American Home Shield for quite a while. But the thing that bothered me the most was having to wait so long to talk to a representative. I didn’t wanna do it online 'cause I knew I needed to hear a person talking to me and I follow through with that person. I went through a series of prompts when I called the claim in and it took two hours. I was on hold waiting to talk to someone at American Home Shield. The other time before that was like an hour and a half. It really annoyed me that it took so long each time I’d call to try and get service with American Home Shield. I understand that with the COVID, things are different and it's a hassle. There are people calling in and you gotta wait your turn. Two hours is a long time. But as a whole, I've been pleased with American Home Shield.

Back in November, the washing machine went out and they serviced it several times. The last guy who came was telling me the things that were wrong. So, he put it in his statement and then I called American Home Shield and it was replaced. The unfortunate thing was when I came home from work that day, the guys were out there with the washing machine and they had it turned upside down. It was a front-load. I ordered the base to go under ‘cause that was what I had even though American Home Shield would not replace the base. I purchased the base and they had it turned upside down. Then they came and put the other one out, and put that one in.

I went down that night to wash, put a load of clothes in, and that machine literally danced across that concrete floor that it was on. I tried it the next day and I called American Home Shield. That was a little annoying because they were telling me that I needed to call the company that delivered the washing machine. But I told them that they would be paying for this since they sent these guys to my house with the machine. After a few weeks, we finally got it straight and they did replace the washing machine with the same model. So, I have been satisfied with American Home Shield.

My experience with Home Shield has been good. I went through their website to make a claim for an air conditioner that wasn't working. Their site was fine but it would be better if they could make an app for that. All Air Heating & Air Conditioning was the contractor and there was kind of a wide range there for when I could expect them. There wasn't a really good window as far as when that would come. Home Shield just gave a number to call the contractor myself to find out when.

I sent the claim Saturday and the contractor came out Monday night. It was 48 hours which is an exception. I had a contractor come out for another issue two months prior and that took about a week. But for this AC one, it was good. The same can be said about Air Heating & Air Conditioning. Since their visit, everything has been working normally. It was over 100 degrees out so the repair helped a lot.

We had no air conditioning, so I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent out contractor A. Contractor A came out and erroneously claimed that the condenser was dead and needed to be replaced and that the reason that the condenser had died was that it was a replacement condenser, not the original one. When it had been installed, they only secured it with two of the four bolts at the base. I don't know anything about air conditioning, but I'm a research scientist and I fiddle around with a lot of fancy equipment, and that was an absurd contention. So, with some difficulty, I managed by getting in touch with people in American Home Shield's corporate office to have them send out someone for a second opinion, which was Excellence Air.

Excellence Air came out and said that the condenser was okay. They replaced a fan and one or two other little parts, and the air conditioning worked. Then 28 days later, again, there was no air. Fortunately it was within that 30-day time span and Excellence Air came out a second time. Now, the condenser was dead. So, they replaced the condenser along with a couple of other parts, and everything so far, and hopefully, will continue hunky dory. My experience with Excellence Air was fabulous. The owner, who's the only person I've ever met, was the person who came out both times, and he is absolutely fabulous. He explains things clearly, and does the work in a very time-efficient fashion, and I couldn't be happier.

Always There came for a repair of my refrigerator and they did a great job. The icemaker was not working properly and they told us all about it. It was gonna take a little bit to get the parts and they were right about that. Then they came out, installed the thing, and it's been working perfectly since. We did have a claim on my air conditioner this year also and Hansen Mechanical was terrible. I had never worked with somebody who's so unprofessional as them. They were gonna go upstairs and work on my air conditioning unit. According to them, I had to have somebody come out and take my attic fan down so they could get up there. I told them the people who did my job put the damn thing unit up there, removed my attic fan and didn't charge me.

I ended up having some friends come over and they took the attic fan down. Hansen Mechanical got up there but they had the wrong parts again. It was the second time getting the wrong parts. We put the attic fan back up. They got the parts again, which were the right parts. We got the attic fan down and they got their parts in. They obviously had stepped over some ductwork which is okay. I stepped over ductwork a thousand times myself. But they stepped on a pipe and broke and split a pipe, and I had water in my bathroom upstairs that ruined the ceiling. They said that wasn't their part. The part they stepped on was coming off the air conditioning. It was a drain pipe and they were saying they weren't responsible for that. So, that cost me like $600 to get my bathroom repaired. American Home Shield said that was not covered because the contractor said it wasn't covered.

I had a good experience and a horrifying experience with American Home Shield. But normally, they're very quick to respond. There’ll always be somebody out here and look at the problem. I like that. It's the best thing I could say right now about them.

I was cooking some Dutch apple pies in my oven and some of it spilled inside the glass. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to proceed but I knew that I had AHS and told them. They sent U.K.H. Enterprises out and the gentleman was top-of-the-line. Excellent. He’s in my age group and he did a step above and beyond. He even cleaned it after I told him. I was so pleased with his demeanor. That makes me even more confident about being with AHS 'cause I learned my lesson. I left them one time and went to other folks and boy, did they treat me. They beat me up and so I came back. I shouldn’t have left in the first place.

I am a customer that’s been around a while. I have two policies, one here at my home and another at my rental. I find the most difficult thing I have dealing with in the past was assigning me a contractor that was not professional. It happened to me twice. One time, he was disrespectful in the kitchen while my children was watching him work on the dishwasher. Then the other guy just outright lied about coming and this was normally when I needed him the most. I ended up having to call AHS back and getting someone else of my choice, which I thought would have been prudent if AHS was to allow that anyway because sometimes, it might be difficult to find a contractor to help, depending on what the problem.

My suggestion would be to not be so stringent on insisting on we use someone that AHS recommends as opposed to finding someone that is also licensed and bonded. Other than that, I'm with AHS through the duration. Right now, I’m having that same problem. They wanna assign me someone that they all want, but then so far, not available. I’m waiting now to see if AHS has found someone. But if they don’t, then I’d like to use the guy that came out to do my annual service because he’s available! It’s hot and people’s units are breaking down especially out here in the Valley.

The line on the AC was clogged and there was no way we could get to that line. The AC would work but there was water coming out of the unit and it was upstairs so it was leaking all over the place. We filed a claim with Home Shield and TradeMasters came out. The tech did what he had to do and checked everything after that. It didn’t take him long. I tell everybody if they own their home that they should have American Home Shield. I swear by it. The initial payment is usually all you pay until it's fixed or replaced. I've had that done with the washing machine. The tech couldn't fix the issue so we got another washing machine.

I put in the claim with AHS last Sunday and I didn't put it as an emergency when my father's water heater burst. But the contractors did. I talked to them when they came out first thing in the next morning and my father was in the bathroom. So after 10 minutes, they left. They rescheduled it for the next day. Then they came out and they did a shut-off on it so he could have water, but the toilet in the bathroom’s not working. I went over there thinking they shut it off, but they did something so his toilet’s not working, so he was pretty upset yesterday. But they're coming out to fix it today. Between 8:00 and 12:00, it should be fixed.

My father used AHS quite a bit, which we're grateful for. But I was really upset. When I talked to the contractors, they put in the claim, and then they were waiting for an approval. So I was calling American Home Shield to see what was going on. I called six times, there was no way to leave a message and it just said, "Your hold time is over an hour." That needs to be fixed.

If you can't at least leave a message, and then it says “chats available” and you hit the chat, and then it goes away and says, “No, you have to call.” So that was pretty upsetting. I spent a whole day on the phone and the only way I got a hold of them was when they emailed me that there was gonna be an additional cost. Then that was a separate number and they answered right away for that. But if you're just trying to find out what's going on with the claim, it’s ridiculous. But the service of AHS has been good. They've fixed some things, but every time we've had a claim, we've had an issue. Financially-wise, it's been great because my father has had some things replaced. It was just like pulling teeth getting it done.

My tenant called me to tell me that the garbage disposal was not working. Then I called AHS and scheduled an appointment. Once I made the call to AHS, they gave me the number to the company. When I made the request, I gave them the tenant's number. My tenant said it's fine now. She said that the garbage disposal is working well. However, it was so hard for me to go through AHS. Another thing, if AHS is taking a monthly fee off my account, then I have to go through to talk to somebody, but it took me at least three days before I was able to talk to someone. One time I was on the phone for 45 minutes, I had to hang up. They now blame it on the Corona. They have a shortage of staff.

The contractor handled my recent claim very well and it was pretty timely, considering the virus. They were very professional. The refrigerator was clogged. I've had the refrigerator for 20 years and I never cleaned it. Apparently, there's a tiny little valve hose that's hidden behind the light fixture and you pull it out and you have to probe it out with a butter knife, and then there's this little hose inside, which was clogged and that was causing the bottom of the refrigerator inside to fill with water. A female repair person came out and she said it was clogged and she took it out. She cleaned it out. There was about two inches of gob in it and she asked if she could use some hot water. She took two containers of hot water and poured it down there, and it was cleaned. She told me to give it 24 hours to sort of recoup here and it did.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim and they assigned a purveyor to come out and fix it, and they gave me the person's phone number so that I could make contact. That was great. So when I called the first purveyor, she said, "Look, we have a guy out who had surgery. We can't even get to you for three weeks. So I suggest you call them back to tell them we can't do it." When I called back American Home Shield, I had to be on the phone another 30 minutes. I knew it was due to the virus and not as many people answering the phone.

I asked the company if they could them back since they have a communication line. She said no and that I have to call them back to tell them that. When I called American Home Shield back to tell them that, it took me 30 minutes to get back to someone. But they, in turn, put me on hold for another 10 minutes because they now called that purveyor back personally to double-check that that was the issue. That was a little unnecessary double work. But then, they got on the phone and gave me another purveyor. I called the other one and they were a week behind, so that worked out okay. Otherwise, it worked pretty smooth.

American Home Shield is very reasonable about what they don't cover. I purchased all of their segments. I have my appliances covered, a pool coverage and electronics, and the air conditioner and hot water heater. I've had to call in my pool and issue was with the motor. The contractor came out and looked at it and said someone would call me within 24 hours and let me know what they were doing. Within 24 hours, they called to make an appointment to say they were coming out to replace the motor. The same guy who came out to look at it came back and he replaced it. I had to pay the $100, which they take from me when I make the call. So that was pretty easy and painless.

It's nice to know that you'll either get your appliances fixed or replaced for $100. The fact that how much it cost me per month, it's already paid for itself for a year. So it gives me peace of mind on all these moving parts. I'm happy about paying the warrant because I can get the benefit out of it in a very timely manner. I've only used it twice and so far, so good.

I really regret getting American Home Shield though. I had to think twice about getting rid of them. They take so long to send people out. Somebody else had to come for something else, and it took two weeks. I'm dissatisfied with American Home Shield. They need to find people in local area if they can. I know there are people out here. Last summer, my air conditioner went on for a whole year, then it started again and again. Instead of just taking care of the business of it, they give you the runaround.

The first one that they sent out, Air Solution, was awful. I had to end up spending money twice. I had to buy me an air conditioner for my room. One time, I waited about three weeks to get it fixed. I also had a problem with my washing machine, and it took two weeks before someone came out to fix it. Overall, it has been awful with AHS. It's hard for me to recommend. You gotta wait all the time.

Last year in October, our central heating air went out. We contacted American Home Shield and they sent out a contractor. The tech put in a new unit and took everything out of the unit that’s inside the house left lying on my kitchen floor. We went all winter and there was no heat. We had to heat with wood this winter. And we had to run the stove in the kitchen just to get two rooms warm enough that we could stay in the house. We were without everything from October to May.

I kept calling American Home Shield and they kept wanting to send back the contractor from Greenville South Carolina down here. They kept wanting to send the same guy back and I kept telling them that I didn't want him. He was drunk and I have children here. He could not stand up and could hardly talk. He said he could not do it that day because he was too sick and he would be back in the morning. He never showed up. He’s calling me and saying he would be here in the morning but he never showed up. He wouldn't answer his phone and he wouldn't respond back to American Home Shield when they would send him a text or email. He would not respond to me either.

I called in January. It was the same guy and he still didn't come back. I called in April. The guy still never came back so I called again. I told American Home Shield not to send the same guy and to send me a new one. They sent me A-1 Construction. Within 24 hours, the tech called me and said what day he would be here. Two or three days later, he showed up. Within15 minutes, he had my heat and air fixed.

We had to get a certified electrician to come in and put the blower motor in because the first guy just left it all over my utility floor. The unit still would not work right. When the guy from A-1 Construction came, he said it was an operator error if the first guy didn't turn the valves right and left them open. The unit wasn't blowing any Freon out when they finally got it fixed in April. It was not blowing cold on our air. He went out and checked it. And the guy who had put all this Freon in the unit didn't turn the valves so all the Freon was gone. When he came, we didn't have any air either.

My husband has COPD and I have chronic asthma. Our little girl has asthma too. There was no way we would been able to make it through those months if that guy from A-1 Construction hadn’t come and fixed the unit. He did a great job. I would recommend American Home Shield because they were good to me and they were very prompt. They did a great job. The only problem is we couldn’t get the contractor to come out. He would not take care of his problem. I was very upset because I paid my deductible in January. It was not a whole lot but I never got the service call. I had to pay in April again for a service call that I never got. That was $150 plus waiting.

It took 2 weeks to get a repairman (Greenway Home Services) to come out. He evaluated it and was able to determine the evaporator had gone out. He said it would take up to 5 business days to get the part and they would call me to schedule the repair. Two weeks later I had still had not been contacted by anyone. I called Greenway and was informed that the part was not available and they had notified AHS over a week ago and they should have contacted us by now. When I called AHS I was on hold over an hour. When the representative answered I explained what was going on and asked why I had not been contacted. He told me AHS had not received any notifications on my repair. He then pulled up my account. I had thought he already had it up, otherwise how did he know he had not received any notification?

When he pulled it up, he said yes it looks like I was going to go through the replacement and that would be handled by a different department. He said he would transfer me but gave me the direct number in case I got disconnected. It was a good thing because we were disconnected. I called the direct number and was on hold almost 3 hours and no one ever picked up. I have called the customer service number back several time and selected the option for a call back and have never received a call. Again I am on hold and so far it's been almost an hour and no one is picking up! I will paste this on every review site I can find until I get resolution. The fridge has been out over a month!!

He comes tells me it is his fault but I need to pay for a electrician to come out. Call American Home shield and pay another 75 bucks for a electrician to come out.

The electrician company calls me and tells me they have no space for the rest of the month. Now I need to cancel the request to get my 75 bucks back....guess what, have to wait for another hour plus. I have been an AHS client for more than 10 years and have used them three four times for repair on A/C appliance etc. It has been okay so far but I am 100% frustrated with my latest encounter. Created a service request on Jun-25 for an issue with the refrigerator. AHS assigned WOODARD MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS as the contractor. They never called. I tried to call them multiple times using the number shown on AHS website, but never answered and sometimes it says they cannot take a message. I have left messages whenever I could. It is July-15th and my refrigerator is still broken. Thank god I have a second one in the garage and no one in the household is on a prescription that requires refrigeration.

At this point I doubt WOODARD is even a legitimate business. I called AHS two times. Each time you have to call it is a two hour wait and if you are working better take half a day off. First Call: The associate tried to contact WOODARD in conference and failed. Said they will contact by mail and let me know the status. Nothing on two weeks.

Second Call: Same calling in conference etc. and mailing them for status and letting me know offline. This time I insisted that I need the contractor changed since WOODARD is not responding for so long. She said she cannot do that. I insisted on it and said I either want contractor changed or cancel the warranty altogether. She put me on hold for some time and then came back and congratulated me on a successful contractor change and the new contractor is going to call me in 48 hours.

It has been 48 hours past and the second contractor never called. I checked online at AHS service order and it still shows WOODARD as the contractor. Meaning AHS either lied or contractor change is not viewable through website so me calling the contractor is out of question. My mistake I did not ask the associate name on both calls and did not ask for information on second contractor on the second call.

I am on my third call and it's been 93 minutes and counting on the hold music. I will try to hold on for two hours and disconnect if I do not get an answer. I am planning to call someone tomorrow to come and take a look at it outside AHS. I don't have infinite amount of PTO to keep calling AHS. Also, wondering what good is the warranty if this the case. I was promptly charged for the service by AHS on June-25th itself. The only way to handle this is call and hold on for 2+ hours. No email, no provision on the website. That is primarily the reason I am using this review to talk about it as well.

I had an appliance issue and American Home Shield sent out Sears. Everything went very well. It was much better than the last time we had a problem with our Sears refrigerator, which was fairly new. Before, they had to order a new compressor and it took three months to get it. We were living out of ice chest for three months. It wasn't their fault that they couldn't get any compressor because there were so many of them breaking down. But with my appliance issue, the tech happened to have one in his truck this time and it was compatible with another board that was already in that refrigerator. He got it fixed and back in business.

It's easy to get a claim going with American Home Shield. Everybody got back to me right away and it worked out very well. Their service was great. It was much better than when I was with First American. I had a water heater that sprung a leak. We didn't know it ruined the carpet in one of the bedrooms, which wasn't their problem but replacing the water heater was. But First American's contracted plumber came out of Fresno.

We live up in the mountains and there are several of us up here with First American. Every once in a while somebody says something about it. I said I was gonna get out of that deal. Also, when the contractor came up for our water heater, they gave us a bid instead of just replacing the unit. They said they would have to bring everything up to code and that they would have to redo the wiring. But there was no reason to do that. The house is only 12 years old. It would have cost us about $1300 on top of it. They would replace the water heater but we would have to pay the contractor $1500 extra. It was kind of a racket. I told the contractor, "So you guys don't make much money coming up here in the mountains to fix the water heater. So you're gonna get all this other work laid on there so you'll make some money." The guy replied, "You didn't hear from me but yeah, that's what's going on."

The buyout was if we didn't wanna use First American to do the job, they would pay us $435 for a water heater because that was what they would have to pay for anyway. We went that way just because. But I still had to hire a local plumber for $200 to put the water heater in. He said they didn't have to bring this stuff up to code. We have two water heaters in the house and about six months later, the other one started leaking. I called First American and told them that I knew I was not gonna want to use them again. I was just letting them know this was what had happened and that last time, that was bad. They said I was right and that nothing had changed. I told them I was just gonna go buy the water heater. I called my local plumber to put it in. They sent me the $435.

That was why I went with American Home Shield. I switched and I feel really good. When I talked to the sales gal when I first switched and she kind of asked me, I asked, "If I sign up with you guys and I lose the water heater, how would you handle that?" She told me and it was 100% different. I felt a little more confident. I was not jumping out of the frying pan and into a fire. I'm really happy with what has happened with American Home Shield as well as their service. I'm not one that wants to use insurance. But we kind of start thinking like what would happen if the air conditioning unit breaks and it would be 3000 bucks. We are at an age, we're retired, and we got a lot of places to spend money. I have recommended American Home Shield to other people that have asked.

Once I submitted the claim and it was approved, somebody from Kelly called the next day and set the appointment. It took two days for the whole thing to be done. It was the first time that I've had to use American Home Shield, even though I've had them for years. I heard some stories that were concerning. But my experience was fantastic.

The gentleman that came out was very professional and very knowledgeable. I had an RFI in my garage that went bad and it was causing several of our electrical socket to not work, so he replaced that. When he came in, he was covering himself because of the virus, so he was protecting us and himself. Once I let him in, he didn't even come inside the house. He went in and out of the garage. So I'm very, very pleased with Kelly and with the gentlemen that came out. Everything went well. It's been three weeks now and everything is working great.

American Home Shield has been mostly really good. It's easy to submit a claim and I appreciate it. But before winter, they told me to get a furnace check. So, I had set that up and they took the $75 fee to have someone come and look at it, but nobody ever came. I finally called the people that were supposed to come, and they said that they didn't even do it anymore and had told my Home Shield that they didn't do that anymore. They did refund the money that I paid them but the furnace didn't get checked. Then we had a technician from A.C. Guy come out because the AC was just barely cool, so it was getting really warm in here. He was professional and he came quickly and did his work, and everything was fine.

All the things I've had to have done around here have been okay with the exception of the air conditioning issue I had. I went without air conditioning for two weeks and 90-degree heat because I couldn't get anyone to listen to me to switch it to another company. I don't understand why the reps don't listen. I feel like they listen to the contractors more than they do the person that's paying for the call. That was very frustrating. They were all pre-programmed saying they would call the contractor and check. They would then tell me that the company said that they were gonna try and come out within the next 24 hours. It was a nightmare.

The company was lying to them, telling them they were coming out and they weren't. I had to call American Home Shield every single day for two weeks and the last person I spoke with regarding that issue is the one that helped me. I finally got someone to listen to me. Other than that one experience, American Home Shield has been okay. On my most recent claim, my hose bibs outside were both leaking. The guy had to order a part and then he replaced the parts in it.

Complete Home Services was excellent. They responded right away. The tech was out the very next morning and was able to take care of the issue too, right away. He was in and out. I had a great experience with him. We had another guy come out the first year we lived here for an AC unit, and it was very painful. We had to chase them a lot and there was no response from them. We also had a second vendor, and they came on time. It just ended up being whatever had to be repaired wasn't covered. This time though, it was a very quick response. The tech was actually early and he was really easy to work with and get in touch with.

I've been with American Home Shield for five years now and things have gone amazingly well. They respond within a reasonable time and their technicians are very good. Recently, I submitted a claim to them for my Whirlpool refrigerator that was broken and they sent Bennett Appliance. I told the tech from there that unless he was completely safe with gloves and a mask, I can't let him in.

The techs came with masks and stayed their distance. There was six feet between us the whole time they were here. The techs were very conscious of it which I appreciated. They put in a filter contraption on my refrigerator but then both the tech and I failed to check the light that alarms us when the filter needs to be replaced. I tried to restart that but it won't get off of red so I don't know whether the filter is working or not. So, I've been meaning to call Home Shield back. Despite this issue, Home Shield makes sure that their techs are covered as well especially with Coronavirus around. I offered them bottled water and the tech told me that they were prepared and had some in their truck.

In my second home, the outside part of the AC went out and the contractor had to come. About a month later, the motor went out but it’s all getting older so it’s to be expected. The people that welcomed the contractor said they were great about them being professional.

American Home Shield sent Wilson's Appliance Repair out and they were not able to fix the problem. Whatever was wrong with it at first, the technician thought it was resolved. He put it in and then he checked it the same day and said, “No, no. Still not fixed.” When he called American Home Shield back, they said they were gonna replace the unit and that was what they did.

We also had a leak issue when we first moved into the house, and that was resolved as well. With everyone else going through COVID right now, it was a lengthy process as far as waiting on hold. But I understand they're probably on limited staff at this point. One time, I held on the phone for over 45 minutes. Other than that, I'd tell others to get AHS. It’s well worth every dime to get it. It’s already more than paid for itself in two claims.

American Home Shield is a very deceiving company. The company handles business very unprofessionally with longer hours of hold times and shorter hours of actual customer service. This company does not live up to their reputation. It really isn't a company that cares about customer interest. They care about renewal fees and the SAAS model of recurring business. As long as you buy their product and nothing goes wrong in your house, they see you and they treat you with the utmost respect. But with the first thing that goes wrong with your house, they would most most likely not help you or they would treat you with such disrespect, and then have you follow up with customers. Employees are subsidiaries that they use as vendors to treat you with utmost disrespect.

I use the company through them called Island Breeze. I had a tech service named Shawn, and he was very customer service friendly. I am the person that treats customer service as the number one priority. When the sales representative treats a customer with respect, honesty, and truly salesmanship of wanting to help solve a problem, I feel like that should be rewarded. Shawn treated me with the utmost respect. Because of this, I bought a product from him. I felt like that was what good salespeople do. So I bought an additional service. American Home Shield's efficiency of getting someone out here took me two days.

I submitted a claim online to AHS because the dishwasher wasn't working. The website was good. I love the company that came. Some of the companies are lousy, but Mr. Appliance is the best. He fixed our dishwasher. However, I don't like being on hold for three hours trying to talk to somebody at American Home Shield. I understand it's COVID, but that's ridiculous. It was like that before it was COVID. I'd be waiting for at least an hour, and usually, I have to fight with American Home Shield to get my claim paid and finished up. But since Mr. Appliance has been coming out, he's so good that I don't have to really do that. The other technicians that come out, they wanna do the cheapest job possible. Some of the companies AHS contracts with are lousy. Wish all the companies AHS contracted were like Mr. Appliance.

One time, the washing machine in Tucson was broken for six weeks. They finally told them my husband could replace it because they had these companies coming out that weren't returning the call. We called American Home Shield about four times with that, and on the phone for hours, and every time, "We have to have somebody else come back out." Finally, they said, "It's not fixable. The part's not orderable." So he was able to go get a washing machine.

Now, it's not working again so I told Alfred not to touch it. But the problem that we always have with Spa and Pool Specialists is that we have to wait so long, even before the pandemic. It takes weeks for the guy to come out. First, he said he was booked for five weeks. Then he said that he would squeeze me in on Monday. So now, we have to wait until Monday. I also have a feeling that he's not gonna be able to repair this.

I'm not happy with the wait time. I was told that it was because of the pandemic, but that shouldn't have anything to do with them making appointments and coming out. If so, Home Shield should hire more people but they said that this is the only company that services this area. They need to have two pool people ‘cause it's very frustrating when I have to wait so long for the repair guy to come out. The most recent one we had over was the plumber and he was okay. It was just the pool stuff that got me very frustrated.

The tech was excellent. But the fix kinda took a little longer than we thought it would because they would fix one thing then find out that there was something else going on. That was amazing because they had great problem-solving skills to identify what the problems were and fix them. Also, it is corona time so ordering parts for our system took a little bit of time. Their service was amazing though. They took the time to explain to us what they were doing every time that they came. They had to come a couple of times and that was a great experience because we felt in control of what was happening. I'm extremely satisfied.

I’ve been having American Home Shield for years. I got them back in 1989 and they've been good to me. When I request for service, I call them and I tell them that I'm having problems with a such and such appliance. The rep will then ask me what it's doing, and I tell them. They will then submit an email to the technician and they will also give me their telephone number for me to call. After that, they will tell me that they had already sent an email and I should be hearing from the technician. If I have any other questions, I give American Home Shield a call back and so far, I've been doing good with the contractors that come out apart from Fast Response.

I had a problem with them. Josh (a technician) came out here last year, and he came out three times. I told the company to send someone out who had more experience than he did the next time he came back out here. That's because when I try to call American Home Shield and if it's past 30 days, I have to pay another $80. Anyway, American Home Shield fixed what they had to fix on the third trip and then I was told that I would have to pay for Freon because they don't pay for it. I needed five and a half pounds. I had to wait till I got my income tax and when I did, I got it fixed.

Recently, I submitted service requests for the refrigerator, then the air conditioner again and the last thing, the dryer. So much was going on and I wonder if American Home Shield is going to get rid of me 'cause too much stuff was breaking down on me. I'm not doing this on purpose though. I bought a brand-new refrigerator. It was marked down when I bought it and I was having problems with it quite a bit. Four months ago, they replaced that. The dryer was messing up as well and when Big Ten Appliance Services came out for that, they did good. The guy looked and he told me that several things were wrong with it. He then told me that it had to be replaced and they replaced it. Two days in between, I had Fast Response come out and do the air conditioner.

When I put air conditioner on, I would have a problem with the air coming out. It would come out, but it's low. I called in June and then Fast Response sent Nate out. That technician told me that my air conditioner was over 30 years old and that parts would have to be replaced. He then went out there and fixed a couple of things that was wrong with it, and then he advised me that I would have to get a new unit. I had to get a loan from Telhio to buy a new air conditioner and it was 4,000 and some change.

When I went on my account that amount came out, but Fast Response was just going by what their mouth was saying. It could've been 2,800. I don't know. I called Fast Response and I asked them for a receipt. The first person I talked to, Ashley, said she was going to send it to me ‘cause they already had my email. I called back the same day and another operator answered the phone. She took the time to listen to me and said my receipt was going to come from someone else. It would then come to them, and then she would send it out to me. However, I haven't gotten that receipt yet.

We bought our house in March and American Home Shield came with the home purchase. After my wife did the service request for our AC, World Class came out to check the unit. But it took American Home Shield a while to get a contractor out here. They didn't come right out like it said in the contract. It took four days for them to get out here. I had to go out and buy a window unit just to keep the house cool. The technician was nice though.

We had to get a new unit but American Home Shield didn't do that replacement. They said the unit we had was too small for the house and that was why it was having problems. Otherwise, everything was running properly. When the inspector looked at the house, they didn't notice it was a two-ton unit inside and a two and a half-ton unit outside. I won't renew my policy with American Home Shield. Even if the unit was not the right one for the house, I would think they would have done something for us since it was under warranty and we were sold the house with that protection.

I was going through stuff because I had a flood in my house and we were trying to fix things. I was going through my mail and I just happened to get an advertisement from American Home Shield. I said that I needed to do this because things keeps happening to me. There were other options but that particular email came through so I signed up with them. I put two calls in and I had one good experience in the same call. Sun Powered Solutions came out for the air conditioning and they were awesome. They stayed with it until they found the issue and they fixed it. They were very good and pleasant to work with. They were just perfect. The reps were polite when they came in and they had their protective gear on and both of them wore a mask. It wasn't an easy fix but the guy was determined to make sure to fix it. He went through everything and took about an hour just to find the leak in my air conditioner.

The other people that I had acted like they couldn't find it. It was new and they wanted me to buy a whole new system. I said that I can't buy a new system every three years. That doesn't make any sense. The guy from Sun Powered said that he doesn’t know where the leak was but he was gonna find it and he did. So, I appreciate the time they took to find it and they did an amazing job. It was very hot but they stayed with it. Sun Powered is the only reason why I'm with AHS because I did get good service on one of the people. So, let me not just quit.

On the other hand, I had a washing machine that was making so much noise and AHS told me that as long as it was working, it didn't need to be fixed. If you put something in the washing machine and when it gets to spin, you just wanna go outside. It's so loud. My clothes are clean but with that noise, at some point something is going to break. I just got over a flood and that was devastating to me. So now, I'm really careful. If anything happened, I address it. If the toilet looks like it's gonna go over, I'll plunger it one time. If it does it again, somebody has to come and check to see why it’s doing it. But it's not like that with AHS. Also, I pay the $100 upfront. I told the lady that took the call what was wrong with the washing machine. I said that I'm still able to use it but it's making this noise. She should have told me that it was not covered instead of taking my $100.

The hot water heater was leaking and it was not repaired the same day because the plumber had to get a hot water heater and it was late in the day. He had to come back the next day. The water heater seems to be working fine now but I don't wanna use that contractor, Jaime Avellino Plumbing, again. Although the plumber's attitude was okay, it was like he was angry that he had to do it.

American Home Shield is also hard to get in touch with most of the time. You have to go through a computer voice and then they would tell you to call the people they assigned to the case and find out when they're coming. But I'm a customer. I don't wanna do someone's business for them. Then when the contractor calls and says they would be out there between 1:00 and 6:00 or 3:00 and 8:00, I think they need to narrow down their time span. But I realize that some jobs take longer than others. Aside from that, they have also been known not to call the right numbers when I give them that information. I had an ordeal the other day where they called me and said they couldn't get anybody at this number. But they had been trying to call the number of the gentleman that passed away three years ago even though I gave them the appropriate name and number to call.

On top of that, I'm a little upset right now because I've got another case right now for the same house and it has taken over a week for the contractor to get back out there because they got there late and they didn't have time to work on it. Someone along the line is not doing their job to keep things progressing on a timely basis and that's inconvenient for me and for the tenant who lives in the house. She was always there when they called and said they would be over there in 20 minutes. The case that's still open for this house is a faucet in the kitchen that was leaking and a piping in the master bedroom shower that was leaking. The technician said, "I think the shower won't leak anymore, but I can't promise you." Then for the kitchen faucet, they said they've got to get a new faucet to put on there. Well, they waited until 6 o'clock to tell us that and then it still hasn't been repaired.

American Home Shield is not high-quality on my list. They need to work on their processes and their time frames. I also don't like that they don't respond within three hours. If you had an emergency, you're just stuck. The only reason I'm with American Home Shield is because number one, I've had them for several years. I've had the house rented since 2005 so I guess I've had them since 2005. Number two is that I'm a Realtor and I get a discount because of it. I've had experience with other warranty companies and they're not much better. So I'm staying with American Home Shield. But if they get under my skin, too bad, I'll find somebody else.

The coverage has been good. Usually, I don't have a whole lot of issues but when I do, they take care of it. That's all I expect. It took the air conditioning company about three days before they could come. Then when they came, they had to order a part. They came two days later. So it was uncomfortable but it was what it was. That was fine. Then it was the same thing with the dryer guy from TBL Appliance Services. He came and didn't have the part so he had to order a part and come back the next week. But he also tested the microwave and it was actually working. He said I would have to wait for it to break or stop working again. But it's been working fine. The dryer had some issues with the bin and it was something dealing with the sound. It started jumping and making all sorts of noise. The contractor did a great job and he was consistent. He left and had to come back with a part. He completed the job in one day. But I had some plumbing issues a few weeks ago. When you're putting your system in that's not working, it breaks it down and it's very quick and you can't say what's going on with the appliance or the system. I specifically spoke with the home office and told them what was going on with my plumbing but they sent out a one-man show.

I'm getting upset with the contractors that American Home Shield is using because they would come out but not necessarily do what they were supposed to do. They just wanna get the $75 fee and get a signature from the client to get paid. They're not interested in fixing the problem and I'm having an issue with that. If they're not gonna come out and take care of it, and I'm paying this with them every month, I should just call somebody, pay their regular fee and not have a warranty. I paid American Home Shield and I didn't like how the contractor serviced me. They left and I still have a backed up toilet coming in my tub. So, I got toilet wipes coming everywhere. This wasn’t right. I have elderly grandparents. I ended up calling somebody else and spending another $300 but this is what I pay a warranty for.

American Home Shield is good for certain people. It's good for my grandparents because they could have someone that can relieve the stress and not be concerned about whether or not something is gonna get fixed. So, it's more of a mental thing for them to just be comfortable. But when it comes down to whether or not something is gonna be repaired, if it were not for me and my dad, and being able to get on the computer and looking up items that need to be replaced, I don't think that half of the things that got done in here would have gotten done. Because I literally had to call and get item numbers. I had to find appliances that matched the standard that we already had. We would not have been successful with that if it were not for us having internet access and being able to work a computer.

The original issue with the claim with Expert Pools was that the motor was not working on the pump. My wife submitted the claim and it seemed to be pretty easy and seamless for her. The contractor was out within two days and they were excellent. They put in a new motor. We did have a slight issue with some water leaking underneath, but we recalled. They came out within a couple of days and fixed it right away so everything else has been perfect. This is our second home where we used American Home Shield. We had a lot of other options to choose from but we decided to go with American Home Shield because of the great service and responsiveness we had in the past.

C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came out recently and their service was awful. The tech came out, and for whatever reason, he did not finish everything that was on the repair sheet and it wasn’t but one item and that was the kitchen faucet. It needed to be replaced. They took a week to call me and ask me if I had a problem with the faucet that they had selected. I called American Home Shield and they asked me to hold on as they called C Mayes to find out what the problem was. Only then they called them and asked them why had they not gotten back in contact with me because when the tech was here, he initially said that he was gonna order the faucet and they were gonna get back with me.

That took about three weeks to do. I clearly told them before that I was flying out. I needed the work done in a timely manner and he misled me to believe that they were gonna get right on top of it. Then when I called them back out, American Home Shield told them to call me within 48 hours. That didn’t take place. When they did call me, the service tech that came out to bring the faucet had no clue that he was supposed to repair everything that was on the first prior order as well as replacing the faucet. He called them and they said, “Okay, if you don’t do it, she’s gonna complain again, so go ahead and fix it,” when all they had to do was say, “Hey, all the orders were not completed and let’s make this right because she’s already called and she’s already stressed that she wasn’t satisfied with our service and we know we dropped the ball. So let’s get it right.”

I did not like their mannerism. They were not professional. The techs were professional when they came to the house. However, they should have completed everything. I have no problem with American Home Shield. They don’t do the work. They vend the work out to vendors. I’m very happy because they did not deny me any type of service. The first company that came out, I used them three times. The last guy that came out to fix my air conditioner days ago knew what he was doing. He came out and he rectified the problem and that was it. The first guy fixed my washing machine. He came out. He fixed it, and that was it. Overall, I love American Home Shield. I love their service. We definitely recommend them. I went online and placed my repair ticket on Saturday and right away, a company called in like less than half an hour. They came right out that same day. So, that’s excellent customer service.

The faucet was leaking in the kitchen sink and it needed a replacement. It was a gooseneck faucet so it was complicated. The contractor who came out fixed the issue but initially, when he got off, he wasn't wearing a mask. My wife had to tell him at the door to wear his mask. He said okay, went back to his truck and got it. Once he was inside, he wasn't wearing it properly. He was just covering his mouth and not his nostrils. For it to be effective, it has to be covering both orifices and then, once he was underneath the sink, he took it off.

My family hasn't gone out or left the house in three months and I'm the only one that has left the house to work. So we're very observant when it comes down to things like that. After he left, my wife put a bunch of Lysol aerosol out to feel safe again. With everything that's been going on nowadays, you would expect everybody to be considerate. If you're gonna go into someone else's home, make sure you wear your PPE. He did get the job done and nothing happened but I wish he could've been a little bit more careful and conscientious of that. We’ve had American Home Shield for 12 years and I like it. I'm very happy and I'm satisfied. I can count the times I’ve used it with the fingers on my hand but it's a good security blanket to have and if it provides extra protection, it's worth it.

This is our third home that we've had American Home Shield on and their process on submitting claims is better than it used to be. We’ve been with them for over 25 years. We’ve also had other home warranties and they are crap compared to American Home Shield, so we just stick with them. Every contractor that has ever come out and has been sent by American Home Shield has always been very polite, neat and timely. They're here when they say they're gonna be here and they fix the problem. You never could catch American Home Shield on the phone though. You'd have a 30-minute wait.

One time, I had a stopped up toilet. I did an order online and they had that fixed. APC then came out because my toilet tank was leaking, but the claim was attributed to the other plumbing issue. When APC got the order, American Home Shield had given them the order for the stopped up toilet, which was a couple of weeks earlier. I had to resubmit a new work order and then it took them two days to get out here for scheduling to get out to do the leaking problem. Apart from that, there hasn't been a problem with either issues since.

On my first call, I had a unit that was not cooling correctly. It would freeze up, and then I had to turn it off for about four hours. It was really hot that day too. I went online to submit the order and the website was very user-friendly. They responded right away as well. I was trying to do the claim both online and over the phone and it's hard to get through on the phone. It's a long wait period. It was quicker through the website. I was also given a notice immediately that a contractor would be notifying me. I got a text, an email, or both. Total Air Care came and the guy was very good.

Initially, my air cut off, and then it came back on. I poured some bleach down the pipe, but that pipe is not the one that was clogged up. The guy told me what was going on and he was able to come in and fix it right away. He had to cut a line and somehow the thing is horizontal, but he worked it. It works great still. I haven't had any issues since. He also cleaned up whatever he was doing. Another thing is that I was in the middle of training and he was very respectful of that. He didn't want to make a noise with the cutting saw while I was on the phone because it's right in short distance of where I was working.

I also had a plumber come out this last week and so far, contact via the website has been very good. However, I had a question and I was trying to call, but I couldn't get through. It's either my phone or Home Shield's phone would get through to a certain point, and then it would hang up on me while I was talking to someone. The call hung up when they called me back as well. Still, that was last week. It could be fixed this week.

The water heater was the first claim with American Home Shield I ever made and I was pretty disappointed. It was very disheartening because the inspector came out and said that my water heater was a fire hazard. It was 26 years old. I was scared to death every day that my house was gonna catch on fire after they said that. But it took AHS a week to actually schedule a service. The contractor, Bestway, was ready to come out as soon as they could, but I couldn't get in touch with American Home Shield. I was on the phone for over an hour three times.

Bestway Mechanical came out for the water heater claim. I felt a little uncomfortable because the technician came by himself. He needed someone here to help him. He's a little rough around the edges, but he's a nice guy. He installed the water heater, but it had a big dent in it. So, he had to get another one and install it the next day. But he did it.

American Home Shield advertises that everything is covered, 100%. So I was really disappointed because there was actually $650 that I ended up paying for, which was just ridiculous. You can almost buy a water heater for that from what I had been told. I felt very ripped off. I'm in the process of moving and I will not be using them after I move.

The hot water tank was leaking water and I told the rep from American Home Shield the problem that I had. Water was dripping through my ceiling and I didn’t know where it was coming from. It was coming down through a light and my wife saw it on the countertop. I went up in the attic and then, water was dripping on the outlet and the pipes that runs from the hot water tank pan to the outside of the house. So, the water was coming out of the pan. The contractor was professional and he got the job done. He drained the water tank first to make sure the water wasn’t too hot and overflowed. It could cause the ceiling to fall in if they hadn’t done that right. So they did everything right the first time and got me taken care of.

So far, I've been satisfied with AHS because I had First American for about two years, and I didn't need them for anything. Then finally when I needed them when it got hot last summer, they sent a tech out. Instead of them coming out to take care of my problem, the technician came out with a camera, took a picture and indicated that something I had done was wrong. It was some kinda wire hanging down but there was no wire hanging down. I keep an immaculate house. They did not fix the problem and it was hot in my house. I dropped them. My mom has had First American for years but I had bad service with them.

The guy from Legacy Appliance was great. I had no problems with what he did but we have a Samsung refrigerator that has a defect in it and he wasn’t allowed to fix it. He said we were gonna get a letter from American Home Shield so that we could take it to Samsung. But we haven’t gotten it yet and it's been a couple of weeks now. It’s a defect in the icemaker. They didn’t insulate it properly and the whole thing freezes up and it’s frozen still. It was an engineering defect and there’s really nothing the tech could do about it. No one told us that it wouldn't be covered. It was kind of a surprise when the tech got here.

I love the service with American Home Shield. It’s convenient to know that you can call and get something repaired easily. It’s a good deal. But they should list off a refrigerator that they know has a defect issue, and before sending a technician, they should have sent an e-mail questioning more in-depth whether it was gonna waste my 75 bucks. I was frustrated at having to pay $75 when they couldn’t fix my refrigerator.

American Home Shield sent ABNation for a pool issue and that was probably one instance where they did a good job. I've had American Home Shield off and on for about 17 years. But I've had them for a while. The big problem with American Home Shield is that they take so long. If a hot water heater goes out, you need hot water. Last time it went out at my last house, it took like five days to get it corrected. Then I bought one up because the water heater that was in there was too big. It was a 50-gallon. So I had to go to a 40-gallon and they wouldn't pay for it because it wasn't the same. But it's cheaper. So that was just among others. This last time was an anomaly where I actually got a hold of them. I went online. I went ahead and took care of my work order, and I called the workmen back the next morning at 7:30. They were out within two hours and had it fixed. That was the fastest one I've ever had.

American Home Shield could use less automation and have more people helping you. Also, they've got a situation where they used subpar handymen. I just had to put $1200 of air conditioning repair on my air conditioner because I didn't wanna call them because the last couple times I had a problem. They were idiots. They didn't know anything about it. They were trying to sell me more stuff. I don't know if people don't wanna work for AHS, but it's just the people usually don't know what's going on. They need to improve their vetting of their trades.

Right now, I'm very unhappy because I've been a longtime customer, and they've raised me up to $92 a month. I was at $60. Now, I did add some extra stuff on there, but I think their rates have gotten expensive. That was why I switched before. But then I found when I did switch that the other company had problems too. So, it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. Compared to the other places that do home warranties, I've been with AHS off and on, but I always end up going back to them because they have less small print at the bottom of the contract. They're the best of the worst. The whole industry needs them.

There are three AC units here and there are several claims involving different ones. The only people we want to work on it is Quantum from AHS and it's always the same technician, Henry. The first one was an issue with a breaker box and so, we called Quantum. Henry checked out the compressor and everything while I was here.

The next one was regarding a secondary drain. When you have hot and cold with metal involved, it drips off water. For example, when we run the air conditioner upstairs, the excess water is drained through the primary drain that goes down into the plumbing system and out to wherever the plumbing system goes. Henry recommended that to not have this problem anymore where it leaks badly is to put in these little float switches which are inexpensive little devices that you can buy on Amazon. He even told me how to do it and how to wire them in. I'd rather not mix water and electricity so I paid him 125 bucks to come out and put all three of them in three different units. But that wasn't AHS.

The next time, a different unit just quit working and we couldn't figure it out ourselves. Henry came out and he discovered a fuse that had blown which was a little tiny automotive type 5-amp fuse. The system won't run without it and he showed it to me. He replaced that and he said that it shouldn't be blowing these ever, but if it ever does again, to call them back so they can come out and research the thing and try to figure out what's wrong with it. That was the last time he was out and then, we put another call in because we had seen a water stain in the ceiling but I cancelled that because there was no reason air conditioning would be leaking there. That's a plumbing issue.

We've had no problems with Quantum. AHS had assigned our work to somebody else but I told them that I didn't want anybody except the guy we're used to, Henry from Quantum. If he says he'll be here, he'll be here. It's always on the same day. They're in this area on Thursday and we know how to deal with him. He was very helpful. He explained what was wrong with the system, why it was doing what it was doing and how to avoid problems in the future. Everything's perfect.

I had an issue with the dryer and I forgot I have Home Shield's service. I had a company come out and they inserted something in the dryer vent. I thought it was clean but when I connected my new LG dryer, it kept telling me that the sensor is sensing that the vent is not 100% clear. The dryer was turning off on its own. Then, I remembered that I have Home Shield so I decided to pay the $100-something and have one of their affiliates come out.

Two techs came and I told them even before they entered the house that I wanted to have the dryer vent cleaned. They didn't even bother to come in and they felt that I have the wrong person because their specialty was more heavy-duty, like if a vent is not working, they would rectify it or replace it. They said that they would call Home Shield and refer me to another person. I was switched on to this other person who came. He replaced the circuit board on the dryer but that didn't fix it because I still have the issue. But I can't get anybody from Home Shield's site, so I gave up on that. I got tired because I'm going around in circles. I am paying another company outside Home Shield.

I don't understand all the dynamics but I like Home Shield and I had a good experience with them. They fixed my fridge that had some very technical issues that needed dealing with, even though it took a while sending somebody from Sears. The first person that Home Shield sent out came in and looked at the problem. They said they couldn't fix it so they referred me to Sears. I've had the fridge for 16 years and they came in and did some high-level work. The fridge is still working. A friend recommended me to Home Shield and I can see benefits. It has saved me, especially with the fridge.

My downstairs AC unit was not working. The thermostat showed that it was cooling but actually nothing was coming on. I put in a request over the web then the vendor called me and asked me what was going on. I told them about it and I also told them that the upstairs unit also stopped cooling. They said I had to go back to American Home Shield and tell them to put an additional order. I couldn't figure out a way of doing it except calling American Home Shield. When I called, I had to be on hold for over one hour before somebody would talk to me. Once I got somebody to talk to me, they added the work order. Unfortunately, the guy's truck broke down so they never came the day that they were supposed to. They called me and told me. We slept that night without AC.

They showed up the next day and told me what was wrong with the units. One of the units had the circuit board fried, and if he ordered that, I'm gonna have to wait for about a week to get here or I could replace the furnace and that could be done the next day. I chose to replace the furnace. On the other unit, he said that the one with the coils had lost Freon. American Home Shield gives a replacement for the coil thing, but pays $10 only for Freon per pound, and the actual cost for the Freon is like $50 a pound.

He said that in order to do the repair that American Home Shield would wanna do, he needed to wait for AHS to send them the unit, and then after they send it to him, then he could install it. If they send it to me, it's gonna cost me 1,200 bucks to install out of pocket. That's for the standard unit that American Home Shield sends. However, they can get a Trane one and that Trane would cost me $2,400 to install. He claimed that the unit is 14 years old so he recommended to go and replace both outside and inside units for the upstairs and that could be done the next day also so I chose to do that.

John Broussard Appliance was good. The guy came in for my stove and he went to the stove and the microwave and he said we needed new parts if he could get them. If not, we'd get a new stove and a new microwave. We waited 10 days and we could not get the parts because the stove was too old. So he got a new stove and we're getting our new microwave tomorrow.

I did my claim with American Home Shield online. I thought it was a $100 deductible for each and every item that you needed, but you can put four items. There was a little thing in my dishwasher that needed to be corrected, but I didn't put it down because I didn't think it was worth $100. Also, I told them over and over again that I needed local contractors to do the work. After the first plumbing incident from King's Plumbing, it was hard to get in touch with them. And they came from out of town. They came, they did whatever they needed to do but the guy didn't do what he was told to do. We called him back and we couldn't get in touch with him for about another 10 days. I paid another $100 the second time around for him to come, but he never did come. After 10 days, I cancelled it. It was a plumbing issue.

So, I told them I want local people and that I also need a refund. I did everything to get the refund, I still haven't seen it yet. I can't contact American Home Shield because of the COVID. You have to wait 35 to 45 minutes on the phone for them to even answer. I don't have that kind of time to stay on the phone that long. But they were so nice when I first talked to them last year. Also, I did get a new stove and microwave. They fixed everything, too.

The contractor that came recently for our claim was very courteous. He's a young guy, energetic and he did a good job. But according to them, AHS said they were there for only one item. So, they said they could not fix the others. I called AHS and they sent them another message. The contractors went back and fixed everything. Now, my problem is it takes me 50 minutes to get a hold of customer service there at AHS.

The contractor is still trying to fix the icemaker on my refrigerator. They can't figure out what's going on with it. It's something with the electrical system. They’ve called the manufacturer but they still haven't been able to get it done. They were here yesterday and they said to give it 24 hours for the program to re-cycle. But I called them again today because it's not working. Other than that, it was easy to file the claim with AHS. I had one other claim with them for a garbage disposal and it was fixed within the day.

Our AC stopped cooling on July 5 and I contacted American Home Shield for service that day. Temperatures are in the 90s and my husband is a disabled veteran and I am a heart patient. A technician from Cool Factory, Inc. did not come out to diagnose the problem until July 10, saying that it was the compressor and "the office will call you". No other explanations or what to expect next. Nothing in writing about the diagnosis or the next follow-up appointment. By July 13 when we had no further contact I called American Home Shield and was told that the technician had not yet submitted a diagnostic report, and this usually takes 24 to 48 hours after the home visit.

I was promised a follow-up call, but by July 15 there was no further contact. I was on hold for over an 1.5 hours to speak to an American home Shield representative. She told me that they still did not have a diagnostic report and she called the AC tech to get it while I was on the phone. She then said that it would take an additional 3 to 5 days to find parts and the repair would then have to be scheduled. We may not get our AC repaired this month! When you look at the customer reviews of these companies they are glowing, diagnostics in a day or two with a repair within the week. What a sham! We are elderly and at high medical risk for Covid 19. We are suffering in the heat and have nowhere safe to go in this pandemic.

The worst home warranty company. Our AC has been giving us trouble so we contacted AHS to help fix the issue, you know, considering we pay them an annual premium for this very service. They send someone over after a week - the contractors basically does nothing at all. We have since been trying to contact AHS for a month to help with issue and they have done absolutely nothing. When we call we are on hold for an average of an hour and then the call automatically hangs up. Keep in mind also that we are new parents with a 2 month old at home so we have no time at all. AHS has provided us no response at all. Isn't it fraud to collect annual premiums from customers and not provide a service?

My AC unit just went out this week. Service request placed on 7/14, finally get an email back on the morning of the 7/15 (which is great and they are good at) But told no tech can come till 7/17. I called to express my concern about my family being in a house over 85 degrees. I waited an 1.5hrs to get to a rep, explained my situation and asked for a better option. Rep was polite and understanding. Placed me on hold. 10mins later line disconnected... Called back waiting another 1.5hrs to get an answer, the Rep tells me there is nothing they can do. My service request has already been sent via the automated system. I asked if they could actually call other contractors to ask about their availability and was told no it has to be done via the computer generated system. I called a local contractor on another line and they had immediate availability. I asked if I could use them and be reimbursed. Again was told no the computer system already assigned a contractor.

I asked to speak with supervisor or someone that could do more than assign a computer claim. I was told several times there is no one else to talk to. I asked if they could provide me with a list of AHS authorized contractors and I would call around to see if anyone had better availability, again “no it’s all computer generated”. There has to be a more personalized way to establish contractors for services. I realize it’s summer and everyone is having issues but if I can call a well respected company and get service today why would you not honor that!? Provide better services. Still awaiting to see how the saga will continue once the tech can come out.

We had our HVAC unit go out and the person they had come out said they could replace the compressor OR the whole system. The compressor would be a temporary fix at best and only run at about 80% efficiency. He recommended to have it replaced, but since it could be fixed with just a compressor, that is all that AHS would cover. We went with another company to replace the system, because the original company that AHS works with was more expensive. AHS reps told us that we could get refunded the amount for just what the compressor replacement cost. We have submitted the paperwork 4 times, and spent over 6 hours talking to representatives. I called to cancel and the rep said to submit the paperwork and we could get the refund. I told the rep that the receipt and quote are for the full system and not just a compressor and that is why the cash back equivalent for a compressor was being denied.

He told me to go ahead and do it again. I submitted the paperwork and two weeks later I get a denial because a compressor is not specifically listed on the pricing of the full system. The cash equivalent they said we were approved for (originally) is only about 1/10 of what the system replacement cost. We weren't wanting the whole system covered, although that is what THEIR contractor said would be best, just the minimum. I'm done with the company. I spent more in a year for coverage for absolutely no reason. We would have saved money by not having AHS to start with.

We were assigned a company to come and do the re-key, but the company does not service our area. It has now been months of being told "we're trying to find a local company for you", waiting for phone calls back to have a local company approved to do this service, and being told "You can have someone local come and do it, but without approval, there's no guarantee that you'll receive reimbursement". There is no way to send an email to AHS to ask my questions or submit feedback, no one messages back on Facebook messenger, and phone call wait times are over an hour. Perhaps it's fitting that their initials are AHS. It coincides with the TV show American Horror Story, which is what it is like dealing with this company.

I switched to AHS because a friend recommended them to me after my 1 year warranty was over with another company. My price was $50 a month. When my contract was up I saw a price increase of $16. My bill is now $66 a month. I never received notice via email, text or mail. I searched each platform to cross check. I called the company and they say fees have gone up due to cost with parts. I’m confused because I wasn’t notified. I barely use the service. I only had 2 calls this year for minor issues. Why is it such a huge price increase? A few dollars I understand but almost $20. Not even a phone call.

Then the customer service representative tried to use scare tactics by telling me other companies use refurbished materials. I called 5 companies and they all said that was a lie. So now they are using unfair practices by lying to keep customers. Not ok with this practice. Now I feel like they have not been upfront and honest with anything they have said to me.

AHS is a complete scam. My water heater started to leak, they sent out a plumber, he said it needed to be replaced (26 years old), and simply noted that my property water pressure was 120 psi on the report and to conform to new building standards/plumbing codes they would have to install a PRV (Pressure Regulating Valve) to meet current codes. AHS blames the 120 psi for the leak on a 26-year-old water heater when on the front of the water heater it clearly states max operating pressure 150 psi. That would not make sense to anyone.

I disputed, they denied, I called back in, and a Michelle with AHS told me that she was going to get someone out that same day or first thing in the morning since it was still leaking over a week later! Nobody called, nobody came out, I waited 2 days, so I had to take matters into my own hands about 10 days after initially calling AHS. I had a plumber replace the water heater for $1,500, a fair price (I called around several contractors and most were between $1,500 and $2,000).

I sent an email to every AHS executive I could find on Linked In because I was not going to hold for an hour (average wait time of 4 calls into AHS). I sent the email the evening before my plumber was to replace the water heater. It apparently caught the attention of Holly ** who reached out with an email not copying everyone else. She told me that another plumber was going to be calling me. Roman's Rooter came out the morning my plumber was to replace the water heater, for an assessment. He told AHS the failed unit had nothing to do with the water pressure, it was just an old unit that needed to be replaced.

I requested reimbursement for the full $1500 spent to replace the water heater, and Holly **, Executive Relations, is now offering me only about a 1/3 of the cost ($581.41). She says it only costs them $581.41 to get one replaced. No plumber is going to purchase and install a water heater for $581.41. They would simply lose money. In fact, I talked with one of the local plumbers AHS uses and he let me know that is fake news.

They cover nothing! You cannot even get anyone on the phone unless you wait for over an hour. The person you get on the phone is from another country with broken english that has no supervisor to be transferred to. They cannot transfer you to anyone in the same country. They will do anything (delay, delay, false claims, delay, delay) just so they don't have to cover anything. It gets better too. I know several real estate agents, including the owner of one of San Diego's largest firms, who get treated very differently when they have claims at their personal residences. They have different avenues to take (through the sales rep), different phone numbers to call, and AHS does not dispute any of their claims because they sign up buyers left and right with the AHS scam. I would be simply embarrassed to say I worked for a company like AHS who could care less about their customers. AHS is useless.

Nobody knew anything about it and AHS never confirmed my claim with GE. Home Shield was saying GE wasn't open and the number that they were trying to call was like a disconnected number. So they couldn't get through with anybody. But then, I was able to get through with the 800 number that they had supplied me and GE was open. In the past sometimes, companies that aren't very reputable would be sent out. Then I have to call back and have it redone. Recently, our whirlpool, the jets, wasn't working in the bathtub. I bought an older home about two months ago and with my older home came a home warranty with American Home Shield. The first time I engaged with American Home Shield, my air conditioning unit wasn't working. I didn't really know how to use your program, so I called and I waited on hold for 45 minutes to see if I could use my own HVAC contractor that I've known and trusted, is licensed, bonded, and insured forever. The AHS rep didn't really do a great job of telling me how or why I could not use my own contractor. So after circles and circles, I finally told them to send out one of their own contractors.

The rep set me up with this Rush Heating & Cooling. They came out and looked at my air conditioner. They said that I needed a new unit so I asked what I needed to do. They said that they needed to call American Home Shield and they needed to order the new unit, so they would be in touch. I asked what it would cost me but they said that AHS would call us which they did. AHS reached out to me and said that we would have to purchase some accessories. We would have to spend $150 on the coil and a $50 pad to go under. I'd have to go through Rush Heating & Cooling to purchase this stuff out-of-pocket for 200 bucks. I had inquired about maybe using my own contractor so I asked them what would that look like. Then the rep said that they would reimburse me $561 if I wanted to use my own guy. It was not going to cover anything. So I told them to go ahead and order it and l would use Rush Heating & Cooling.

A week and a half went by in the summer. I still had no unit and I got a survey sent to my phone asking me to rat the job completed with Rush Heating & Cooling through American Home Shield. They never followed up with me and they didn't complete my job. The last I heard, American Home Shield was ordering me a new unit. Rush Heating & Cooling called me five times in a row at 7:30 the next morning. The rep said that my job was completed was because American Home Shield told them that I wanted to cash out, which was not the case at all. In fact, when I talked to American Home Shield, the very lovely lady said that they would order the unit.

So I had to sign up for another service contractor to come out to my house. Every time this happens, I have to wait on hold with you guys for 45 minutes to do this. It was just a nightmare to figure out what was going on. But they said that they couldn't go back to Rush Heating & Cooling because they already closed it out. We needed to send somebody else out. I got Eagle Heating & Air.

So Eagle came out to my house and they said that they couldn't diagnose our unit because it was tampered with. Somebody was already out here which was right because it was Rush Heating & Cooling. They told me that I needed a new unit and they told me they were gonna come out and fix it when they got the new unit from American Home Shield. So then Eagle that they couldn't handle us and they closed it out. So I had to wait on hold with AHS for another 45 minutes to an hour.

AHS then sent out Crown, but you had tried to assure me that this was one of your premier vendors and their tech, no matter what, was gonna take care of me. I told them that Eagle said that they couldn't diagnose the unit because it had been tampered with from Rush Heating & Cooling. Then they said not to worry about it and that they would make sure that I was taken care of.

Crown came out. This was the third person I had out. He was able to diagnose the unit. He told me that I needed a new unit. And then he went to tell me that my warranty didn't cover any labor in an additional part. So the only thing that AHS would cover was the unit, but he told me it was going to cost roughly about $2,200 or $2,400. He then urged me to just go directly through him and I'd save 200 bucks. It didn't make sense. Rush Heating & Cooling, the first people that I had come out, told me I was only gonna have to pay just $200 for the stuff that wasn't covered in my policy, but that all my labor would be covered.

I looked up Crown Heating and Cooling and it sounded like he had been scamming people on American Home Shield warranty for a while. I told AHS that I didn't want to deal with him. But they said that the only option that I had was to cash out and use my own contractor because they were not sending me another contractor.

When I finally said that I’d cash out, AHS told me you’d give me $1,300 dollars instead of 561. I went ahead and I hired my own guy. I got the work performed and I would say that I'm very far from a satisfied customer because it was just abysmal. And the guy cost me $2,400 so I still had to spend out-of-pocket. But it was still cheaper than if I would have gone with this Crown Heating & Cooling and not cash out. I paid out-of-pocket rather than going through you guys because I filed this claim June 8 and I just got the original unit replaced last week. I couldn't do that anymore. We're in the middle of a super-hot summer. It was really bad.

I just bought my home six months ago and American Home Shield came with the house. I've had to use it three times and it’s been real easy. They set up an appointment with J & J Appliance Service for my refrigerator. Then, the contractor called me right away and set up an appointment. Their tech came out and he looked at it. It was great. He told me what was wrong with it. A computer board was out and he fixed it temporarily. He said to not put too much in it and then he came back the next week and fixed it when the part came in. But I don’t know whether I will continue AHS because it’s so expensive. It’s like $64 a month and I don’t use it that much and I don’t know that I’ll use it that much.

Using AHS's warranty is extremely easy. We submitted a claim online to them for a garage door issue and they sent Morrissey Overhead Garage Doors to handle it. The tech from there was on time and he did a great job. He explained everything that he was doing and cleaned up when he was done fixing the problem. Now, our garage door is working great.

ABNation came out and they were great. But they seemed more intent on figuring out how not to fix it than how to fix it under the warranty’s protection plan. They inspected the pool assembly and the main booster pump wasn’t working correctly. They said that due to the lack of a GFI breaker on the control panel, that American Home Shield will not honor the warranty claim. They offered a $889 estimate to repair the pump. Once I heard that, I told them if American Home Shield was not gonna honor the claim, then I had a pool service with folks that were prepared to do the work and they will replace the breaker. So I just went with them.

When I submitted the claim over the internet, the website was kinda hard to use. There are some other issues with the house that I hope to be able to resolve. But when I log in, the website is showing that the claim is complete, but my pump isn’t fixed. So this is strange. Also, I'd like to know what are the qualifiers or disqualifiers for the equipment that's under the insurance so that I know whether I’d even bother to make a claim or not.

Our AC claim with American Home Shield where Air Majesty came out went very well. We had them to come back a second time on the same unit, but that wasn't something that they could have known was going to happen. The motor went out. They fixed it, and then the motor went out the second time. Jose was the technician that came out each time. He really does an excellent job. It was raining and he called me and asked if I would mind if he wouldn't come. I told him it was not a problem. So, he put it off for a day, and then he was right out here on it. We didn't have any problems with him. He turned out to be a very good and knowledgeable young guy. I will call them back again.

American Home Shield was right on point. I've had them since we purchased this house back in 2002, and they've been there the whole step of the way. I continue to pay them because they come out quick. I don't have to sit around and wait. I'm a happy camper. When I get somebody out here that doesn't work, I usually will call them and let them know about it.

The washing machine kept getting unbalanced and the panel would light up and blink. The lid was locked so we couldn't get into it to redistribute what was in it. It takes a while to call somebody at Home Shield so I put in claims online. The guy from National Platinum Service came out and he checked everything. He said it was the pump and they replaced it but it's still getting unbalanced. It got increasingly annoying. I called back and they set up another appointment. They are very courteous people. The lady went out of her way to find me an appointment that would work for our schedule. The customer service is outstanding with that company. They need to be recommended and they need to be scheduling a lot of appliance repairs. But our price with Home Shield went up. They had to replace the refrigerator and then our monthly fee jumped up. I didn't like that because it’s $75 a month. That's a little too expensive.

The downstairs AC was not cooling. I submitted the claim online. I've done it several times and it's easy to do. It said to expect the contractors out within 24 hours of the service call request. Unfortunately, it was on a weekend. So I ended up giving Ace Heating & Cooling a call ‘cause the AC was out and it was about 99 degrees here in Florida. I asked if they would be able to come out over the weekend. The tech was not able to come out on Saturday, but he was able to squeeze me in on Sunday for an additional fee on top of the $75 service fee through American Home Shield but it was worth it.

The capacitor on the fan motor blew. It was a normal AC problem here in Florida when it would get really hot and the air conditioner was running continuously. They replaced the capacitor. And it runs fine now. Overall, American Home Shield is good. I just wish more services are covered under my plan. Sometimes, I find that things get broken are not covered under the plan, like a ceiling fan or a doorbell. Other than that, it's fine.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years or more and they’ve done some timely repairs in the beginning. The providers would be quick and they would call you within 24 hours. They would usually come out the next day. That was what it used to be like but over the last few years, it has gotten bad. They would come out but you would call them and the contractors that they work with might not call you back within 24 hours. They might call you back in 48 hours. Then, they might not come out on the day like it used to be. They might come out in two days. Also, they would normally have the parts on the truck before. But now, they usually don't have it and they would usually have to go back out and order the parts, and that may take another week for the part to show up. Then they have to try and schedule a time to come back out. It used to be a quick turnaround but it takes a while now for everything to happen.

It used to be that almost within 48 hours, everything would be taken care of. You call, they send the person out and they usually have the parts or whatever was needed. If you called on Monday, they would probably be there on Wednesday, and it gets resolved that day. If they order something, it would get resolved by Friday on a worst-case scenario. Now, it might take two weeks to get whatever resolved. In this case, it's something as simple as a microwave. It shorted out, and it has been six weeks and they still haven't gotten it fixed. But I'll just buy another microwave.

Before, they would pay for the sales or I could go buy the product myself or get somebody else to fix it. It was up to you, and you just call and they offer it. But now, that's the hassle. They would do it all at their discretion. The time to get stuff resolved, probably in the last three years, it has gotten bad. So whenever I get this last one cashed out and resolved, that'll be it for AHS. I’m probably gonna go to Old Republic.

Another time, I submitted a request for service on my AC. AHS, sent Fast Response Heating and the techs from there were really nice. I had a great experience with them. Currently, I'm scared to death that my original heater will die. I keep AHS so that if ever my heater goes, I'll have coverage. I've used AHS over the years for my stuff and they've always taken care of me. Before, they didn't have an option to get a callback when I submit claims so I would stay on hold for two hours. Now, they have callbacks. Though I wish my microwave claim would go a bit faster, I'm satisfied with Home Shield.

You never know when something's going to break. Having Home Shield, you at least have someone who can come out and check it for you. Smart Choice said the motor inside was overheating so they had that one replaced. The AC would run and it would run inside, but it wasn't reaching the temperature it should be reaching to cool down the house, and then the outside stayed running so they weren't communicating with each other. The inside was getting hot, but the outside was still running because they know it wasn't time for the AC to go off because it hasn't reached the temperature, but inside it wasn't working. Everything with that went well. The technicians did a really good job.

The only issue we had was when the contractor came to take the motor out and to check that part of it. They needed to replace the motor. We've had the AC for about 10 years. But the newer ones' motors, he said, motors are different. When they hook them up, they don't need a belly band. Ours needed one. He didn't have one with him and he didn't have any when he called into their office. They didn't have any in stock, they said they would have to order it, but he came back within just two days. So far, everything is running fine. We never heard of them before, but they've been coming out on TV after we got service with them. But we have a service plan with Home Shield to get our AC serviced twice a year for three years. There was a certain dollar amount they charge you. If you wanna do that, they could do that also. They come and inspect your AC.

The issue was resolved when a more seasoned plumber came out. He replaced the cartridge the right way and didn't have to cut through any walls. My husband said he fixed it within 5-10 minutes.

    Original Review: July 15, 2020

I had a plumbing claim with AHS. The contractor came out and they said it needed a cartridge. The guy came back and put in the cartridge and he said it works but it didn't. He came back again and he put in a new cartridge but it still didn't work. He said he would have to replace the valve and cut through the wall. I asked for another opinion so another company came out and they said that it's the cartridge. The cartridge was bad and they're coming out to replace the cartridge. I'm hoping that it will work. If not, we'll have to go through the wall and replace the valve. Thank God we have another shower. It has been three months.

Also, we are in a location that's like 45 minutes from Bakersfield and AHS sends people in from Bakersfield. One company comes up once every other week. I'm thinking about switching because I've talked to other people that live in this area who have a different home warranty plan and they get much better service than what I've been getting. Another thing is that they like you to do everything online but you can't be specific online. It's very generic and there's no place to put exactly what the problem is so I would call and I would be on hold. The people are nice but I hate that I could be on hold for 45 minutes to an hour. It's ridiculous.

But then the next day, I was just about to turn it on, I was running water and water started gushing down from underneath the sink. I called them back and they came out. They said they only handle the garbage disposal and that I would need a plumber. I had to pay another $125 to have a plumber come out. But then the plumber said it was an appliance issue. And what it was, there's a 15-inch hose that connects from the garbage disposal to the hose that connects to the dishwasher and it looks like it's probably something that they have to find an extension piece. They wouldn't cover it. I didn't understand why it wasn't a plumbing issue as it was for garage disposal and they would have just fixed it. It’s something I could even install myself at this point, but I didn't have a hose and I couldn't get it at Lowe's.

The plumber said he didn't have the part and that I have to call an appliance guy. Now, I'm supposed to have an appliance guy so my cost for the garbage disposal is gonna be $375 when it's all said and done, and it's all because of a 15-inch hose. I think they were trying to squeeze some extra money out of this thingI've been having to hand-wash dishes for two and a half weeks now. They didn't do anything with the plumbing. But I've been happy with American Home Shield and I have used them for years. They generally have some good people working for them.

We had two plumbers come out recently. The first one was for a toilet installation. We had already bought the toilet after our last one broke. We just needed it installed so it was nothing too complicated. My husband really liked the plumber. He was a very good and professional person and he seemed to know what he was doing. Then the second one, when we bought the house, we were told that the cold water tap in the shower didn't work. We asked the sellers to fix it and they didn't want to so as part of our deal, they gave us the home warranty with American Home Shield. So, we called the plumber to have them come out and take a look. We thought that they might just be able to install new fixtures and fix whatever was wrong, but the fixtures that we had weren't up to code. The plumber would have to do pipe modifications, which wasn't covered with our current warranty according to American Home Shield.

We were disappointed that the modification wasn't covered because it was a bit of a pricier issue. We were hoping that at least part of it would be covered for the modifications, especially since the sellers wouldn't fix it. We were going through the plumber ourselves to get the modifications done, though American Home Shield did say that they could at least cover the cost of the fixture installation when we sorted it out with the plumber.

We are glad that we have American Home Shield. We've been using it as a tool to ease into homeownership, which has been nice. This is our first house so we don't exactly know what we're doing in terms of getting things fixed when they break, now that we don't have a landlord to call. So it has been a little bit of a comfort to know that we can always get something scheduled through our home warranty, and we don't have to worry about finding someone to come out, and we know that at least part of the cost is going to be covered for it.

We have had Aerotek three times over the years. They have been very quick to respond to come and look at everything. For the last few years, they've mentioned about the furnace. But then this past winter, I noticed that it seemed to be working really hard. Then my air conditioner, at the same time, it had been acting up. The motor was running all the time and my neighbor could hear it also because the bedroom window was there. So, I had Aerotek come and do all my duct system. As they were doing that, I asked them to look at the dryer, check the air conditioner, and then another thing that I had a concern about. And I had American Home Shield recommend them.

Over the past four years, Aerotek said that it looked okay. Then this year, they put on the air conditioner, and when they were doing that, they could see that there were some other problems. They showed me what the issues were so that I understood what was going on. They weren't just trying to sell me a product. Aerotek called me yesterday and left me an estimate. But I just haven't made a decision yet.

Trying to get through American Home Shield is a pain. I've waited on the phone for at least 55 minutes almost every time. One time, I lost connection after waiting 45 minutes. You could be on the phone for an hour and a half just trying to say that you have a problem with your furnace. I have some other friends that are using them and they're having the same issue with waiting too long on the phone. But the people that answer the phone have been very courteous and nice. Some of them, I have a little difficulty understanding what they're saying. But we worked through and it had been fine.

We told the sellers we wanted a one-year warranty on the house when we purchased it and they chose American Home Shield. The home warranty company gave us Mr. Appliance of East Texas as our contractor for a claim we made and they did a great job. They told me that I needed to get a new part for the icemaker or I needed to replace the icemaker because our refrigerator was not making ice and it's not dispensing water. The person that came out diagnosed the problem and said that they would get back with me. But they didn't and I had to contact them. They told me that it wasn't covered under warranty.

I had already paid for the service call and everything. I asked why the contractor had to come out if that was not covered under warranty. I wasted $75 for no reason. I tried to call and email American Home Shield about that but I never got a response back. When I tried to call, it was like a two-hour wait on the phone and I wasn't gonna wait that long so I just gave up.

We're very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. When I talked to them the first time, I told them what the problem was. I kinda wish there had been more communication about how that was not going to be covered under the warranty then I would have never had anybody come out. That was my main thing. They said they'd cover everything on your appliances then they tell me it's not going to be covered. Why do I have this warranty then with American Home Shield?

I recently had someone to come out and they gave us their estimate of what was wrong with our dishwasher. But they weren’t able to fix anything because the tech determined that the dishwasher was just a loss. So I'm waiting now on a replacement from American Home Shield. They said that they've ordered it. They gave me a date of next week for the replacement to get here and then I have to call and get it installed.

I like American Home Shield. It's a process to get things replaced. But if it needs to be replaced, they will go ahead and replace it. But I noticed recently that the call volume is very heavy. I think that's because of the pandemic. People are at home and stuff are breaking. So I've had very long wait for that. Also, I've noticed that the experience was a little bit different this time when they sent me choices on what I could choose to replace the dishwasher with. Whoever sent the link did not realize none of those things were available. So I had to call them. The lady sat on the phone with me, which I appreciated, and to go from website to website to find a dishwasher that was available. But I think that's a pandemic woe. I had an experience with them before and it was much smoother. They're a good company.

SNL Appliance Repair did wonderful. They didn't even have to come out to diagnose the problem. Home Shield sent Universal Refrigeration out beforehand, and they were horrible. The owner of the company was awful. He made me cry on the phone. It took them a month to try to schedule an appointment to get the problem fixed. When SNL called, I gave them the model number on my refrigerator, let them know what the other company said the problem was. That was on a Saturday. By Tuesday they had an appointment scheduled for me. They came out and fixed it by Thursday. SNL picked up where Universal Refrigeration dropped the ball.

I reported Universal Refrigeration to the Better Business Bureau because when I was looking to Google them to find out where their company was, it says that they were closed and it gave another address for their location. After three and a half weeks, they never showed up. They were supposed to come on a Wednesday to fix it. They were supposed to call me Thursday morning. They never called. I called in the afternoon and the lady reassured me that they were gonna come that day.

I texted the tech late in the afternoon and he said he wasn't gonna be able to make it. Friday, they were supposed to call me in the morning, they never called. So I contacted Home Shield, and within 20 minutes of contacting Home Shield, the Universal Refrigeration owner called me and was very rude. I didn't even know he was the owner until I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that it would do no good to complain about them because it wasn't gonna do any good. Then he told me he was the owner. I told him I did not want that company in my home.

If Home Shield is gonna send them to my home again, I would refuse their service. SNL was exceptional. Kim called me on Saturday and had the problem resolved by the end of the week. I liked Home Shield. They were quick. This was my first claim with them. I have a rental house, and I've used them before. They were great at the rental home, but when it came to this situation with Universal Refrigeration, I almost canceled my subscription with them. But they had somebody contact me immediately. So they handled it very well.

My dishwasher wouldn't stop and it was getting really hot. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and they sent 1st Choice Repair out to handle my problem. 1st Choice came pretty quickly and their tech said that he had to do a reset. He showed me how to do that. I let it run after I did the reset but then the dishwasher still did the same thing. Next he told me they would order a new control panel.

I called AHS to tell them to order the control panel or have the guy from 1st Choice call me. That guy never called. I called back several times and finally got a lady in the office and I told her what was going on. She got the numbers from me and ordered the control panel that was needed. I also told her that I didn't want the guy who came out to come back because he I didn't get a response or a return call. Also, he was a smoker and he was coughing in my house. There is COVID and I don't want people coughing at my place. He didn't wear a mask as well.

The lady whom I spoke with said she was gonna things up. As soon as the part came she said she would call me and have the owner of the contractor company come and put the part in. It took several weeks and the part came. The rep called me like she said she would. The owner of 1st Choice came and he told me that the part had been on order the whole time. He puts the panel in and the dishwasher has been working fine since then.
