I did a claim with AHS to have someone come outside and look at my pool. I did it online and their website was pretty good. Then, I got a text message about when the contractor would be out. The guy from Expert Pools who came out was amazing. It was not just the professionalism that was outstanding, it was his knowledge and work ethic that really blew me out of the water. There was a leak and he fixed it. Then my filter wasn't filtering properly and he fixed that, too. He fixed the backbone of the issue in the pool and since the repair, my pool has been working really well. There's no leak and my water bill is not gonna be as high. I don't have to worry about algae and crap in the pool, which was a lot of work.
Other than that, I had a really bad experience with AHS last year, and I'm going to file a small business claim regarding that. AHS said they don't cover pest damage but the issue with my heater is not pest damage. It's the fact that it's worn out, but the wires and everything are fine. It's just that the combustion chambers inside are rotted away. They said that they found rat droppings, but all heaters are outside so there would be all kinds of crap there. I also got a different opinion from somebody else outside of American Home Shield. But if one of American Home Shield's contractors says it's pest damage, they blackball anybody else who's saying anything different. So, they misdiagnosed it and put me in a spot where I'd have to go out of pocket.
The problem is when the first guy came out, I didn't know diddly-squat about operating a pool. So when I called AHS back, they said it was more than 30 days or whatever the time period was. But they didn't tell me that. They just said that I couldn't challenge what they said after two months. So, I got their legal information and I just have to find a little bit of time to file my grievance. The pool heater's a $3,500 expense and I'm not pushing AHS to give me one, but they should be able to get the parts and do the things I need to get done. That's why I got home warranty. All in all, I renewed with AHS believing whatever they told me in the past had been correct, until I found out differently. So now, I'm having second thoughts about renewing with them again. But besides that issue, the contractors and everything else had been great.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time and when submitting claims, usually, once you get through, it's easy. But if you call it in, you're on the phone forever. We had a plugged up sink in the guest bathroom. The first time the rep from Boss Plumbing came out, he put a snake through the sink in the bathroom but that didn't do anything. Three days later, he came back with a camera. He went to the kitchen and cut a hole. He ran the camera through the main water line and saw that it was plugged up in the main line. So, he ran the snake through it again and that unplugged it. But I still have that hole in the wall and somebody was supposed to come and fix it.

Our air conditioner stopped working, and it was close to 90 degrees in our house, and we have two small children. We ended up having to call and file a claim through American Home Shield and they got us ahold of a local company to come out and assess our air conditioner. Southern Air Conditioning and Heating came out within 48 hours. It was our capacitor that was broken, so they replaced it and almost immediately, our AC started working again. It was fabulous. They were very efficient and quick.

I feel comfortable with American Home Shield. I haven't really used them but I have them because I'm the only one at home. I have to have somebody that can help me. I had a friend that had them, and she loved them. I didn't know anything about them and that's how I got them. They do well and everything with them has been great. They always will ask me if I have a question. The fees are good too. I only pay $60-something a month. When the air conditioner wouldn't come on, the contractor came out the very next day so that was wonderful. We had wind blowing, thunder, lightning and rain and my air conditioner went off. But all the contractor had to do was flip the switch and I had to pay the $75 for that visit. They handled the claim well. I just thought I shouldn't have been charged $75, but I know a house call is $75 so I can't complain.

My AC stopped working and we called American Home Shield. I asked if they could expedite the repair. They did and they sent A-US Air Conditioning of Texas. The tech was really fast and professional. He checked it, unplugged the lines and sprayed the unit. The problem ended up being the capacitor that had gone bad. He fixed everything that same day and now it's still working perfectly.

The two times that I've had to use Home Shield was for a garage door and the plumbing. Both times, whoever they contacted, was in contact with me. When we call in the original report, whoever answers the phone on their end is professional and nice. Recently, Accurate Plumbing called me as soon as they got the message and made an appointment to come out and see me. They were here, worked on it and fixed it. We had to call them a week later because it still wasn't quite enough, and they came back immediately. The people were nice, professional, and timely. I'm happy with Home Shield.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I was having water coming from the air handler area of the closet. I tried to do a wet vac suction and it seemed like it was okay but then it began to start to back up again. I knew it was beyond what I could do to correct it. When the contractor came out and assessed everything outside and inside, they determined that it was the backup. The clogging of the drain line was causing the water to flow in. They corrected the problem and I haven't had any more problems since. It was a good and quick service. The techs were courteous, professional and timely. The continuous warranty with American Home Shield has been great service. They have been courteous and professional through the years. They have been quick and prompt. They are always there to help me meet the needs and get a resolution to whatever problems I've always called for.

I’m happy at how fast it is when I file a claim to get something done. It doesn't take American Home Shield any time to text me back, and it doesn't take any time for whoever they dispatch to come out to fix whatever needs fixing. One time, the toilet in my main bathroom was backed up. I had some folks staying here and they did some stuff down there that they should not have. When you flush, you couldn't flush what was the contents of the toilet down. I made a claim online at nine o'clock that evening, and 10 minutes later, I had a text regarding who it would be that would call me. Water and Drain Works then called me at eight o'clock the next morning. The guy then came in and cleared up whatever was in the toilet. He got it out and it's been working fine ever since.

Recently, the appliance was not heating and it was the heating element. AHS sent Lubbock Appliance Repair out and they handled it very well. They were very expedient on getting that fixed. Last year, we had the heating unit installed with one of American Home Shield contractors. They used Absolute. Other professionals that came in to service were telling me it's not an approved unit because it's very big. We've already had a gas leak from one of the pipings. But overall, I have enjoyed AHS. The company itself has been very good so I don't have any complaints. When you call in to put in a ticket, they go ahead and get it done pretty quickly. I've referred people to them. My sister now uses them.

It took the contractors five visits, but they finally got the washer and dryer fixed. It was a tad frustrating. The guys were all nice as can be but none of them could figure out what was wrong. Everything that they said was probably wrong. I called those people out twice, and it still wasn't that problem. They finally figured out what it was so they finally got it done. It took a long time. I wish they would have fixed it the first day. It was multiple different people that came out. Normally, American Home Shield's contractors come out and fix whatever the problem is right then and there. Lake Area Appliance has been out here before and it's always been same day that they come in and get it fixed. I've never had them or anyone else make multiple trips like this. This one was particularly funky. Nevertheless, I've already renewed with American Home Shield for next year.

There was advertising for American Home Shield on TV. I also had heard of them years ago so I just looked them up and went back to them. Their claim process was fine. I made a claim online for an appliance issue and they gave us Premier Appliance Services. They did a good job. Their tech came in when he said he was going to and was very on time. He had a mask on, was neat, clean, and very professional. He went right to the problem and knew exactly what it was. It was a very easy problem. The door where the water filter goes in had broken off. He was able to fix it and put it right back on. It was a good service and I haven't had any problems.

I had a leak in my garage and 822 Plumbing came out and fixed it. Then, I had drywall folks come out and never came back. They scheduled but they didn't show up. I submitted the claim online and the website was good. It's just that we’ve had claims and AHS actually cancelled on us because we use the service too much. They were not gonna let us renew our contract so we went somewhere else. But we've had AHS for about 10 years now for our own protection for the home.

There were three things wrong with the pool equipment and because of COVID, I was able to go ahead and claim them all at one time. Home Shield sent out a company but I don't think they really looked at the issue. Then, ABNation was sent out for a second opinion and they did a very thorough job. They found the wires that had caught on fire or melted. But whoever reviewed their analysis was not themselves familiar with pool equipment and therefore denied this claim. I had to pay another $100 or so for them to come out and look at what they had already looked at but to just report on the wiring. This time, it was approved. When I called customer service, they told me I couldn't request ABNation to come out again but I went online and I was able to do that.
I wasn't happy with the administration of the whole thing but I was very happy with the final analysis and repair. Also, I really appreciate Home Shield covering it because it was not anything I could have controlled or maintained to prevent from happening. But I still don't know if I'm gonna stick with Home Shield when it comes up to renew. They've been challenging to work with compared to other recommendations I've gotten from community members on other warranty companies.

Our air conditioning wasn't working and we weren't sure why. We called American Home Shield and their contractor, JW Brower came out. The tech had to do some ductwork on our house as the AC wasn't connect right. Now, everything is working great. With AHS, we love the security of knowing that if something disastrous happens, we will not have to take care of it all by ourselves. We're happy with Home Shield.

I submitted an AC claim with AHS on a Monday and CTR Services came out on Wednesday. They were on time and got everything all squared away for me. My air conditioner is running perfectly fine now. I had one AC guy come out before this and he didn't have what he needed to fix the problem so I had to wait another day. It was really hot so I had to go someplace else to sleep
Also, there are other things that could be covered. When I signed up the second time, the guy told me that my septic was covered under the new policy. But when I had a septic issue, I called up and they said it wasn’t covered. I ended up paying $600 for that. After that, I decided to cancel Home Shield but then, I decided to get back to it. Everything is expensive so I figure I’ll use them. The service from AHS has been good so far.

I'm not too happy right now with American Home Shield. My washing machine had issues with draining, so I put in a request to have it repaired. That was in June and a technician came out and serviced it. It worked for two weeks, and then it went out again, so I called. They put another call in for it to be repaired. A technician then came out, changed a part, and it worked for a minute, then it didn't work. I called again and the third technician came out. He changed three different things, including the drainage pump as well as the motherboard. There was a time lapse, ‘cause you have to wait for him to come out to determine what's wrong. He also has to order the part, which takes a week, then he has to find time to come out to install the part. Now we're talking almost a month.
Anyway, he changed all the parts that needed to be changed, but he also stripped one of the bolts in my machine. I know he took the head part loose ‘cause I saw it. Then I called American Home Shield and I told them that I love my machine. We were investing a lot of money in this machine and I didn't want to get another machine if this machine could be fixed. However, I've been almost a month and a half without a washing machine. The guy from American Home Shield told me it was a possibility that they would have to replace it ‘cause it couldn't be repaired, but he said he would see what the other options were. His other option was to send another technician to come out and look at it. I wasn't getting this.
If it’s breaking on two previous technicians, how is that person gonna fix this? Long story short, the guy came out yesterday from another company and looked at the machine. He asked me if the previous technician took it apart and I said yeah, because he changed something in the motherboard. I saw him getting the head part of it, the digital parts, loose to look at the part that was installed, but he couldn’t get it loose because that screw is now stripped. I asked him, “If you can’t get it loose, then who’s gonna take it loose to look at it to see if the repair was done or if that’s gonna make a difference?" His answer was he didn't know and that another technician was gonna come out. I don’t wanna see five people come into my house, especially during this time.
Evidently, they are very cautious. We're a distance apart and so forth, but I’m really getting aggravated at this point. Last time, I asked him what his conclusion was. He said he couldn't get it fixed, so his boss is saying maybe they should go and check the wiring on it. I want them to try to fix it, but if they don’t think that it’s fixable, they should just say my machine is broken. They should say that it’s done and they can’t repair it. I’m two months in now without a washing machine. Thank God I have a good girlfriend that I can go and do my laundry (‘cause I don’t wanna go to a laundromat), but that’s aggravating.

My house was over 80 degrees and the AC just ran constantly. I reported the claim online and they gave me a gentleman from Delaware and I'm in South Jersey. I put the claim in the computer on a Saturday but on Wednesday morning, I still haven't heard from the contractor. I left two messages and an email and then I chatted online that I was unsatisfied. They gave me the Long Lane, who did call me within 24 hours, and the first available date they had was a week later. But they were very, very good. I was very happy with them. I was also very happy with the gentleman that came out for my refrigerator. It's very easy to submit a claim. You just do everything online. American Home Shield is the best. I called and gave them the information when I had an issue with the water heater. Then somebody said that in about 24 hours they were gonna email me or text me. JNJ Plumbing was upfront, very personable and professional. Now, I have an endless supply of hot water. I have been with Home Shield for about five years on and off 'cause there have been some mix-ups on payments. Then all of a sudden, I'd find out that it got canceled, so I'd call them up and get everything straightened up 'cause I wanted to keep everything under warranty. They have great service and they have been outstanding. I'd highly recommend them.

We were good with A-US Air Conditioning of Texas. Once they got there, they fixed the issue pretty quickly. They did great. The problem that I had was when I called American Home Shield to get my air conditioner fixed, they said somebody would contact us. This was on a Sunday when I filled out this deal online. A-US Air Conditioning called me Monday and said nobody could be here 'til the following Thursday. My air conditioner was running nonstop so I called American Home Shield back and asked was there anybody else that they could send that was faster than a week.
The gentleman that I've talked to was very nice. He said, "Absolutely. We'll set it up. I'll cancel this ticket and we'll get another one. You'll get a contact within 24 hours." That was Monday. I called back after 24 hours and got another lady. I told her nobody had contacted yet. She was very rude to me. She said I canceled the contract the previous day with with A-US. I said I didn't and they did it to get somebody sooner. Finally, she hooked me back up with A-US which is crazy. They were initially coming the following Monday and they couldn't come out. But when they called me back, they could come out Thursday. That lady kept saying it was my fault. This is the only issue that I've had so far with American Home Shield. The fridge wasn't dispersing the ice. I called Home Shield. "Which credit card are you gonna use?" That's what we all did. And then the next thing I knew, they said they would send me somebody. GE Appliances called me. I told the tech I was home. He just showed up and that was it. They did a good job. However, whoever replaced the part or fixes it, Home Shield said it was 30 or 90 days. But the next day, even with just five minutes, "Oh, you passed the warranty. You gotta get charged another $100." There's no leeway on it. And that was, "Sorry about that. You went past it." It happened twice to me since I had Home Shield. They need to have some leniency that if it was the same appliance, that means there's something wrong with it, right?
For example, your car breaks down because of something inside the carburetor. Then they say, "Oh, it's the fuel pump." Something's causing something to go diddle-daddle. So you either replace the engine or get a new car. You don't say, "We'll replace just the hoses this day. Okay, the hoses. The next time we'll do the belts." That's nickel and diming me to death and I don't like being treated like that. Except for that part, Home Shield has been doing me good. If I was in charge, I would run it a bit different.

Our current service request has been ongoing since 30 June 2020 and the contractors have came out twice with the wrong parts. On the second visit, they disassembled my washer and have now went on vacation and the part has been in for 2-3days according to the ahs and FedEx websites. I have called 4 times during the month of July about the terrible service with the contractor and only to get apologies and and offer to reimburse me for $50.
We have paid our deductibles on time, our monthly payments on time for over 12 years, you wait for hours to reach a representative and if you have a major complaint and to speak to a supervisor or someone whom can actually make a critically important decision, is impossible which is why I am writing this complaint. I am tired of receiving apologies because they can't repair my broken appliance and when do they hold their contractors accountable and stop punishing their paying customers like myself. I don't feel like a valued customer and me and my wife are in the process of finding a more reliable warranty company that actually care and appreciate what their customers think. We have had trouble with our refrigerator since 02/14/2020. We’ve made multiple service request that did not solve the problem, and had to pay for each of them. It has gone like this: 1st repair company didn’t service our brand of refrigerator. 2nd repair “company” was an individual who said the coolant was leaking, put more coolant in without fixing the leak, and closed the service request as “complete”. Tried to get in touch with AHS after refrigerator failed again. They told us to reach out directly to the repairman who did not answer his phone. Called AHS multiple times and each time I was on hold for 45 minutes before they hung up on me without me ever speaking to a person. We made a new service request. The new repair company rescheduled and delayed multiple times just to come out to look at it. After they looked at it, they never got back to us. I called them, they said to talk to AHS.
I called AHS, they said to talk to the repair company. Again, multiple appointments were rescheduled and delayed. We’ve had a bad fridge for 4 months now. Finally we decided to buy a new fridge on our own because we don’t want to spend the rest of our lives with food going bad before we can utilize it. The new fridge was installed yesterday. I called today to cancel with the repair company that has been cancelling on us because we don’t need them anymore. AHS continues to keep me on hold and hang up on me, and there is no other way to contact them. I want them to cover part of the cost of the new fridge as they failed us on the repair of our fridge and caused the rotting of I don’t even know how much money worth of food over the past 4 months.

She had reprocessed the paperwork to have initial payment credited back and that not credit showed at this time and she was unable to confirm what was previously done. She is "keeping an eye on account" and will alert me when the transaction is processed. I don't believe this company deserves its reputation.

We had a lot of issues with our dishwasher this fall. First, it was clogged. Then, there was a piece that was broken. It was easy to file our claim online to American Home Shield. We were told to expect their contractor within 24 hours. We were constantly having somebody come out 'cause nobody was able to work on the type of dishwasher we had but once we got somebody to come out, things were fine.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Overall, I like the cost of a service fee compared to paying for something right out of pocket for the full fee. Recently, our hot water heater went out. It was probably about five hours or so before a technician got here because it was 6 o'clock in the morning when I made the call. They were able to repair it the same day.

My ice maker and vent hood were out. The guy from My Appliance Repair was very nice and helpful. My ice maker was fixed in a timely manner. They did submit a claim for the vent hood, which I have sitting in my living room, but the actual vent itself that goes out through the attic is not the same size so therefore we cannot put it in. That issue has not been resolved and it's been over a month since I submitted that claim. I contacted American Home Shield when the vent hood came in. They said they would get with the appliance company for some kind of adjustment to the form that they filled out. I called the appliance company and told them American Home Shield was gonna be contacting them for it. They said they do the vent hood change, but they don't do the actual vent. Also, whenever I contacted American Home Shield I got a foreign person that didn't understand what I was talking about.

Our AC unit inside was clogged and the condensation was leaking on my floor. Everyday Heating and Cooling was our given contractor and I was surprised their tech showed up on a Sunday, which was the very next day. That was so quick. The tech was very knowledgeable. He cleaned out the pipe that was clogged and was in and out in 10 minutes.
Sometimes it takes longer for a contractor to come. In December, I was hearing some noise on my sump pump which I didn't think it should be making. It just won’t stop running. I called American Home Shield and a contractor came out. They said there was nothing wrong with the sump pump. I had never had a sump pump before so maybe there was nothing wrong with it. The tech added that sometimes, the back end just got backed.
Then in March, we had a lot of rain. I was out of town. My sump pump totally went out and my whole basement flooded. That cost me $1,000. I really felt like that time, if the sump pump would have been replaced, fixed, or I was told I needed to replace it, then I could have hired somebody to do that. The sump pump was definitely bad in December because it was just so bad in March. Other than that experience, I haven’t had any problems.

With my personal experience, things have been great. American Home Shield made it easy to either do claims over the phone or online, to even set up for an appointment. American Home Shield also did a follow-up form with me. Recently, I had a leaky faucet for the hot water, and then the water was coming out, but I didn't know where it was coming out at. It was a lot every time I washed. When the guy from Legacy 4 came out, he fixed the leak and it was all tied into my washing machine. I had one of those splitters for my dishwasher and my washing machine and there was a hole in it. I'm not using my dishwasher anyway, so I told him to take the hose off the splitter and just let it go straight through.
When he took the hose out, he thought that solved the problem, but there weren't any tests done. My dishwasher and the washing machine were also sharing the same hole for the drain, so he thought that was it. After that, I still had water coming out every time I washed, so he came back out the next day, and that's when he saw something else was going on with the drain. The water was coming right back out. It wasn't draining and he had to use the snake. He fixed that and I had an awesome experience with them. They were right on point.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

Best Choice was fine. They were here when they said they were gonna be here. They made a quick and decisive diagnosis about the problem. They got all the necessary paperwork back to American Home Shield in a timely manner. I had been without an air conditioner for over a week. There was a technical issue with the compressor and it had some kind of freon leak so the unit had to be replaced. They stayed and worked here until probably 11:30 midnight to get that thing installed so I could get some air back in my house.
The problem I had was with American Home Shield. It took entirely too long for the process to go through. I live in Southeast Georgia and unfortunately, I've got my 80-something-year-old mother here in the house with me. All those days that I was without an air conditioner were all because of the process. Something should have been expedited. If it was the garbage disposal, fine, take a week, no big deal. But if I'm sitting in a house that's peaking at 90 degrees inside and I've got a 80-something-year-old person in the house, this claim kinda needs to move to the top of the pile. It shouldn't have took that long for them, number one, to approve it. Then after they approved it, it had to go to another department for them to issue the purchasing request to the warehouse where they get it from for that. There should be a 48 to 72-hour cap on it from bang to bullets for something like that.
The only other problem I had was I asked if I go lease a portable air conditioner so I could put it in the room where my my mother sleeps at to at least keep that room cool. American Home Shield said they don't reimburse for that. Other than that, they've been stellar. A neighbor across the street is about to probably get a contract with them now because I recommended them. I've been with American Home Shield for a while and it's my renewal that's coming up here later this month. I got an email about it and it should automatically renew.

I had trouble with the garage door and after having made a claim, AHS gave me AAA Action Garage Doors. They were very kind and good. They fixed the problem. But the problem started again this past weekend. The garage door would come down and go partway then it would come down. All weekend, I had to leave it open because I couldn't close it and I was scared about that. My son then came and he fiddled around with the electric eye and he got it to work.
When the garage people called me Monday to say they were coming, I told them what happened and that I got the door working. The guy said he would keep the case open and if anything should happen, I could call them back. So far, so good. The garage door has been working although each day is like, "Are you gonna work today?"
Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service of AHS. They did not help me at all. I've read some of the reviews of people before me that have had AHS and they were very poor. Somebody reported the air conditioner and that was poor. You cannot reach them in any way on the phone and that's no way to run a business. I am put off for 45 minutes then they hang up. It's terrible. I don't think there's anybody there but they keep saying that there's a 45-minute wait. It took me about two weeks to finally get connected with them.
And even the computer, I couldn't get to work. I've been with AHS for about nine years and I didn't know that every renewal they give a new number. It's a different number every year. When I would use the computer, I put my account number in and it's the number that I had written down. They say I am not registered. That number didn't come up because now I had a new one. I’m up for renewal and I'm just thinking about what they are gonna do now to screw it up.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

There was water all through the closet and I put in my first service call. I called the water heater person as well as the AC person. The water heater guy said it was not him and the AC guy did what he could to try to deal with the problem. He came back again and replaced the blower motor. I was sitting at home all day Sunday and it was 80 degrees in the house blowing at 75. So, he came back out yesterday, added some more Freon, washed off the outside unit again and then told me that if it keeps leaking, he's gonna have to replace the evaporator coil.
The contractor eventually came and replaced the water heater here because it was leaking and that was the cause of all the water in the house. But it's Texas and it's 103 degrees out here right now and it's frustrating to wake up every single night sweating for three weeks because I started calling on the 15th. The AC unit is from the 90’s so the technician was trying to band-aid it the best he could. That was all that they were allowed to do. I'm a homeowner and I bought the warranty to insure this. I don't want to call five times and pay $75 every single time to get somebody out there just because this is what needs done. But I'll call AHS until they say that that can be done.

Having American Home Shield is very convenient because I'm a single parent. I don't like waiting and I don't like going out trying to find all this stuff. I would rather just call. If they can get the people out to me, I have the money and I'm gonna go and pay it. I get a warranty with it too. The only thing I don't like is the claim with the air conditioner. They make you pay for the freon and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay so much money. That's a ripoff for people. It's like I'm paying them to do the job. One company made me pay 960 for freon then this last time, I had to turn around and get that same part.
I didn't want that other company to come back because I knew they did a horrible job, so I went through another company that American Home Shield referred me to. This time, I had to pay $540 for freon. That's crazy. What if they have older people who can't afford it? I had to even borrow money the first time. Other than that, when I call American Home Shield, they refer me to the people and it's an easy process. They send a technician right out and then if it's something that these companies can do, they fix you right on up. Their turnaround times are good too. They send their contract people out to you real quick and that's good on their behalf.

My water dispenser on my refrigerator wasn't working and the person came and fixed it. He showed up on Friday and he needed to order the part. He called me on Monday and he had the part, which I was very surprised with. I had a different maintenance company before and my experience with that company was they would send somebody out, they would look at it, order the part and it would take at least two weeks for them to get it and come back and fix it. So I was thinking that I was gonna have to go get ice because with the water dispenser was not working and the ice maker doesn't work. The guy called me on Monday afternoon and asked if it was okay for him to come right then. And he did. He replaced it and it's working great. So I'm very pleased with the service with American Home Shield. It wasn’t good that I had to have it repaired and that I had to pay the fee but it was a good first experience.
I had the technician look at a couple of other items but because there was nothing broken on them, he just said that they were working fine, which is good. I called back AHS though because I was concerned about the discrepancy in the name of the business. When I got the information from them, the name of the company was different from the company that came. I googled the phone number and another company name popped up. I addressed that with the repair tech because his shirt says the label of Appliance Tech, which is who American Home Shield told me was coming. But when I wanted to see reviews about them, it was another name.
I showed him and he said that he didn’t understand why that happened. The other company's name says that it was closed. I called American Home Shield back and asked which company was really coming because this was the one that they were telling me but they're not even listed and then their phone number that they listed for that company told us a different company. It also listed a residential house as the place of business. I have a business and I use my home as my base, and then I go out so people don't come to my house for my business. So, I understand that part but that was a little bit disconcerting because I wasn't sure if it was a legitimate company coming.
I called American Home Shield back and the guy said that we could add all these other appliances on too and I said okay. Then we added the washer and the dryer, and he kept asking if I wanted to add more things on. I said no but that was weird. Plus, the name of the business not being the same as the other company was kind of a red flag.

My wife and I were gone away from home. We were working in South Carolina for 17 months. Then we came home and then that was when the toilet started acting up. When the contractors put the new one in, when we'd flush it, water would still come out onto the floor from underneath. So the contractor had to come back and put another wax ring in. He said sometimes, the way the floor is, they have to add an extra wax ring.
Submitting the claim was hard. I called the contractor first. They told me I had to call American Home Shield for them to come and fix it. After they got paid by me and by AHS, I shouldn't have to call them back and have AHS resubmit a claim to have them come back out a second time. That was a bad system right there. That was putting too many people involved in something that could have been fixed between me calling the contractor and him coming out. But the contractor that came was a great guy. Everything's also good with the toilet now.

I am now in the mindset, and as I consider my renewal, that any call to Home Shield is gonna be a minimum of two weeks for repair. That has been my experience for about two years now. But it was perfect once the tech was here. I'm glad we have an ice maker again.

American Home Shield is pretty good at handling their thing. When I need a service, I just call them and then they send somebody over. But the day that the tech from US Air was supposed to come over, they called me that evening and said that he wasn't coming because he called in sick. That was on a Tuesday and then they sent somebody out here that Wednesday. But we still had to wait.

My kitchen sink was backed up. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and their contractor Drain Masters came out to do service. The tech ran late but I contacted the office and the rep assured me that the tech was gonna come even after five o'clock. He did that and now my problem has been taken care of. He did a great job. We've owned homes in the past and we had AHS in the last home we had. We've been very pleased with their service and the vendors they use.

I’ve used American Home Shield for a while. I’m on my second extension of it. When I had an air conditioning issue, I just went online, logged into my account, and made the required deposit. I received a message in email that the contractor will be calling me as soon as they were available. I had it all resolved in probably 24 hours. The guy got her earlier. He was familiar with the area. Our place is hard to locate. He had a well-stocked truck, too. He’s very professional, he was able to diagnose the issue, fixed the system, and checked it all out. This guy really knew his stuff. He was in and out in about an hour, which was unusual for air conditioning. I was very pleased with it. Everything's fine. It’s a central air system. My wife's happy, so it makes life good.

My experience with American Home Shield has not been great so far. The locksmith that came out was professional and great but he couldn't rekey the house because of a limitation on a commercial lock on the front door. I couldn't get the front door rekeyed. The second service call that I had was because of a leaky pipe. It took two weeks for a plumber to come out. And even when they came out, the pipe is still leaky. That's pretty absurd. I won't be calling again.

The AC provider based in Springtown did a terrible job. They didn't want anything to do with us and they only gave a quote for a total replacement price that was over $7,000. They didn't attempt to fix it at all. The guy was on the phone for a long period of time. He was trying to figure out an excuse not to repair the unit and. It was obvious that he didn't know what he was doing. I would highly recommend that American Home Shield blackball them from any future service. They clearly didn't wanna have anything to do with it.
Our unit is old but I’ve changed the filters religiously on my end because of the fact that it's gonna be 106 here in Texas. But it was implicated that we had misused, abused and we didn't maintain the unit. So we turned around right away and ordered another maintenance call. I was on hold with customer service for almost an hour. I understand it's seasonal and everybody wants their air conditioning fixed, but they should be able to anticipate that.
We've been AHS customers for over 40 years and we've never had to lick the problem until this last go around. But on the second maintenance call, the guy from Air Technical had the unit up and running within 30 minutes. He also had to come back out and put in a solenoid, but there was no loss of Freon. It has been working fine ever since. This guy was very professional, quick and knowledgeable.
We sent in a letter to American Home Shield because I thought it was important to have something on file. The unit is 20 something years old and it’s probably gonna have more issues in the years to come. Those little vents were bent up a little bit but it was just cosmetic. We had one unit replaced a few years ago. Outside of our out of pocket for it, the unit has been working fine. But I'm a little apprehensive about our next claim for the other AC. I don't want American Home Shield to point out the fact that somebody has said that our equipment was not maintained properly because that was not the case.

I have mixed feelings with Home Shield. Seems like every time I have something go wrong, I pay the $75 and then I'm told that they don't cover that. The first time that happened, a pool filter casing exploded and they said they don't cover that. And then, they tried to say it had more pressure than it should have been in it. I said, "Well, it was 25 years old. What do you expect?"
This past week, I had to call because the springs in my garage door popped loose. I couldn't close the door. The repair person said, "Oh, that's not covered. That's gonna be $495." I finally got ahold of someone today after calling every single day for eight weeks. I got the documents out to call Home Shield and verify if what I was told was true. They carry the garage door opener but not the garage door. They should be a more clear in exactly what parts are covered and what parts are not. I subsequently spoke to the salesperson at a Realtor meeting and she said, "Oh, yes, they should have covered that." My wife was dying of cancer and I couldn't be bothered to chase stuff down. That's why I kept the bill for the door.
With our dishwasher, it was supposed to be a good one that went out. I told Home Shield I wanted a stainless steel one and they said, "Well, we can't get you. We have to replace like-for-like," which is fine. They told me they would cash me out of the old one. I went to Home Depot and found the stainless steel one that was cheaper and just as good as the other one.

The young guy that came out was super nice. He showed up on time and he was really professional and very friendly. I had some major leak in some part of the AC unit to the point it couldn't be patched. He had to buy a brand new part. He said exactly what he was gonna do and got it done in the timeframe he said he would. In today's climate, to get anything delivered in three to five days is pretty good. I love Home Shield's service. We've called them out half dozen times over the years. I wish the Freon was cheaper. But besides that, everything has been really good.

I had to close our door manually because it wasn't closing. The contractors that came replaced the sensors. It is an old door, so the spring needs lubrication. They took care of it and it has been working perfectly since I got the service. Submitting claims to AHS is not a problem because I can always do that via the internet. The difficulty is finding the time that they can come on my schedule usually, 'cause I have two jobs and I'm hardly ever home. My sister that lives with me is disabled, so she cannot attend to whoever is gonna come. So if a claim, if they wanna say next week, it may not work for me. It will be the following week or sometimes I had to put it off after three weeks when I have a day off. But the scheduling is pretty much my fault, not theirs.
After a certain number of requests on an item, AHS should consider replacing it. I had that for my washer and that one was four years ago. It took them forever to replace it, like almost five weeks. I had to go and get my laundry serviced at a public laundry place. Because first, the parts were not available 'cause it was an old part, and then they tried something else. I was very unhappy back then, but I just gave them another try. But, I had the same situation with my refrigerator. All my food went bad because my refrigerator was leaking water. This is my fourth call for a service and I had to take a day off yesterday for them to come in. I hope it works because today, it's not leaking. But how long is it gonna be until my next leak?
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

Everything was great when the contractors came out recently for our claim with AHS. The problem was a hole in the pipe from the kitchen and it was going down to the front door. The contractor was great. He explained it, did his job, didn't take long to do the job and was very helpful. The service of AHS is beautiful. We have another claim. We noticed the problem with our air conditioner on Saturday morning and we called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out on Monday. He had it working. But he also had said that it might be something going on with the motor. Sure enough, the next day, after we had the air running on Monday, Tuesday, we woke up and it was 80 something degrees in the house.
So far, I'm waiting for the contractor today to come because they gave the guy the wrong motor. He was beautiful too as far as explaining everything that was going on. They gave him a replacement motor that didn't fit yesterday and he tried his best to make it fit. He was wonderful. He explained everything to my husband. He's worked in the best that he knows how to help us out, so that's what I like.
I haven't had any problems with AHS. The only thing, it's very hard to get in contact with them. I had a problem with my wall unit as far as my oven and we picked the oven after they told us what was on stock. By the time that I got in contact with them, that was gone and we didn't cover that problem yet. The stovetop, we put our money out 'cause they couldn't find one. But as far as the wall unit, we can't because it's very expensive. They're saying that we have to put 2,000 on our own 'cause they don't have any in stock anymore. We haven't had any luck as far as the wall unit and that's been since May but the stovetop is here. But I've recommended AHS to my son. He has it now and his grandmother has it too. I was overwhelmed with everything that they cover. They also send people out here that know what they're doing. Their contractors that they had working for them so far were really nice personalities and helpful too.

If I was told that up front, I would not have paid the deductible and had them dispatch their contractor out. I would have just called a garage door company. Still, I like American Home Shield's fast response. Most recently, they sent United Air Temp to handle our AC claim. They responded within 48 hours. I've had all kinds of problems with American Home Shield and I’ve thought about canceling the policy on a couple of accounts. I moved into my house about a month and a half ago and I had a plumbing problem. The toilet overflowed and it clogged up. I called up AHS and I said that at first it was the toilet. It was the valve. Then I called up because they were delayed in getting anyone out here and a friend had helped me diagnose it as the main drain. So, they were supposed to change that label from toilet to valve to drain. The contractor came and snaked it from the yard to the house, and it seemed like it fixed the problem. A week later, my house got flooded and ruined the carpeting in my bedroom. I had to tear it out as well as the mat and the padding, and throw it in the yard because it was so disgusting.
The guy came again and this time, he snaked it from the toilet to the yard. I thought it was good to go and he took off, except when he put the toilet back on, it was wobbling. But I didn't even call or deal with it because a day after I discovered that, it flooded again. So I was freaking at that point. I had to have a septic tank guy come out here and take a look at the situation. It was an expensive repair and it was not covered by the warranty. After the dust settled with the septic tank, at 4 o'clock in the morning I called up AHS because otherwise you're on hold for an hour. But I was still on hold for 45 minutes. Alicia, the rep, was very helpful and she managed to get the guy to come back to reset the toilet.
The first time I called and made the complaint, it took four hours. It was the Fourth of July weekend. It's always like a Friday at 5 o'clock, for some reason, when this stuff happens. Then, the second time I called, I had to acquiesce to the fact that I had to say that it wasn't a problem. I had to pay an extra service fee to get the guy out here at Friday at 5 o'clock, as opposed to fighting with them. I had the the plumber at my house and he said that he can't come over unless he gets paid. They haven't been paying him. I even have text messages from the plumber saying that he was not gonna come over unless he was guaranteed that he was gonna get paid.
I got on the phone with the insurance people and I had to change the claim in order to get him to show up. I had to pay the $84 so he would get paid and to get it rectified. So, the guy was here today and he looked at the toilet. He said it was broken, he couldn't fix it and it needs to be replaced. I'm assuming that it probably got broken when the guy took off the toilet to snake it the second or the third time he was here. For some reason, he didn't come back to do the repair and they had to pawn it off on that company today.
The guy who came out today was the one who came out on my first service call for my garbage disposal. He thought that AHS was gonna replace it. I said that I looked at the computer and they said that they resolved it. They said it was an existing condition and they voided me out, which was nonsense because it passed inspection. It was fine then. It just started to leak afterwards and AHS wrote it off as preexisting condition. I bought a garbage disposal and put it in myself. He brought it up today and I said that that was how AHS did me. So, I’m not very happy with that.
The guy took a look and took pictures. He called to see if he could show up a little early and that was fine. So, there were no issues. But I have great disdain for AHS. There is a market research that would prove that if they could turn me into a happy advocate, I would be their best customer for life. But as it is right now, I'm very dissatisfied.
Are you still in need of assistance?

I've had three claims so far with American Home Shield. I had a wonderful leaking dishwasher, which wasn't caught by the inspection. The contractors that came were really great. They set up an appointment quickly, arrived quickly and figured out the problem. When they installed the dishwasher, they didn't screw it all the way, and the dishwasher will actually start even if the door was not closed. But he fixed it for me, my dishwasher isn't leaking anymore, so I just love that.
I had somebody come and fix the air conditioner. I was really worried that that was gonna be a whole huge thing, it ended up just being a recharge. I had water leaking into the ducts. That wasn't caught by the inspector either. The contractors found the problem for that and they fixed that. They had to clean up some of the tubes, and then they helped me figure out what was going on with the air filter. They were very nice and very prompt.
Then the last one was the microwave. Another thing that the inspector didn't catch. When you shut the door on the microwave, it would just go. Sometimes, it would just do it by itself over the night and I would come down in the morning and it would just be on. The contractors came and immediately they were like, "You need a new door." They told me about how long it was gonna take. Their estimate was accurate when they came to replace the door. It was great.
I've had this warranty one other time and it was the worst experience of my life. I hated it so much. AHS was recommended by my real estate agent. I love that AHS is just like you go online, here's the thing. There are no 1,000 questions about it. I just pay $100 for the fee for them to come out and figure out what's going on. It's a lot quicker than I thought it was gonna be, so I'm happy with it.

The guy from Prime Plumbing Services tightened the bolts on the toilet and it broke, and so he replaced it, which is awesome. It only cost me the $75. So it was a good experience with them. It was super easy to book people through American Home Shield. I've had a couple of other things, and half the time, they come out and you're charged the $75, and then they can't do anything. My icemaker wasn't working, so I had an ice guy come out and paid $75 for him to say, "Well, there's not a water line to the refrigerator." Even though we did like a FaceTime and I showed them the refrigerator and they never once said, "Oh, check the back of the refrigerator, see if there's a water line."
Then, I had an electrician come out yesterday and there were some wires loose, so power in half my house wasn't working. They found the problem, but the power is still not working and it's another $400 to fix it. Odd enough, I feel like, "Okay, is this even worth it?" Because the only good thing that came out of the seven calls I've had with different people come out is that I got a new toilet and there was a leak under my sink and they tightened something, and then it was stopped.
It would be good if American Home Shield will do like over the phone consultations or like really finding out what the problem is before sending somebody out. I paid $75 for a guy to come out here and tell me there's not a water line, and then I paid another $75 for a plumber to come out to put in the water line. Luckily, I had someone here who was able to hook it up to my fridge. But if I didn't have that person, then I would've called again a refrigerator person and paid another $75 to have them put the water line in. I felt like if they had done like an over the phone consultation or further did the FaceTime being like they were doing, it would have been easier to figure out, "Okay, there's not a waterline there. We need to send a plumber, not a refrigerator guy who can't do anything." Then I got new appliances, but they said they wouldn't install the appliance unless they removed it and then reinstalled it.
I've learned how to install a dishwasher but I would've thought that if something broke with the dishwasher, they would come fix it. So why can't they install it? It just wasn't very clear. It's been nice to have the toilet and everything fixed, but half the time, they come out and they can't do anything and there was a $75 fee. Also, with my air conditioner, I had someone come out and pay $75 for him to tell me what was wrong, but he didn't actually fix anything because he didn't have time to do that. So I paid the $75 and he said, "Oh, it's gonna cost another grand to fix it because American Home Shield doesn't cover that."

I have friends that have American Home Shield and being by myself with the house, I thought it'd be a good idea to have a little bit of extra coverage. One time, I did a service request online and the website was easy. I got an almost immediate notification that I would receive more contact from them within 24 hours and it was exactly as it was supposed to be. Air Boss Mechanical came out twice for my air conditioner that wasn't cooling and they've gone over and above both times they've been out to my house. The same guy was sent out twice for the same issue and the last time he came out, he checked everything and said there was nothing he could do. He did a few little tweaks, but he told me that he would contact American Home Shield and let them know that it was an electrical problem.
He didn't though, but I contacted American Home Shield a couple of weeks later when the problem persisted and told them that he told me what I needed to do. They switched it over to an electrical issue and I have had two electricians who came. The first one that was assigned was an absolute mess. I called American Home Shield and told them I didn't want that company back in my house. They set me up with another company that contacted me and came as scheduled and I haven't had any other problem since the repairs.

There was an issue with our top stove and Home Shield set up an appointment with Sharper Service Solutions. The first time they came out was to evaluate our top stove. The tech made a determination that a couple of parts were needed for the burner because one of the electric burners wasn't working. He ordered the parts and they came out again. As soon as they were here, he replaced the part, lickety-split, and it's all good. The only drawback is that I had mentioned when I submitted the claim that one of the burners wasn't working and I put on the model number so they might have had the part as opposed to waiting. It was a week later that we were able to get it fixed. Other than that, Home Shield produced what they are advertising.

I had an AC issue and it was easy making a service request with American Home Shield. Lee’s Heating and Air, the contractor, handled the problem great. Whatever was wrong was causing the AC to leak the Freon which would not allow the unit to cool completely. They had to order the parts. They got it quickly and installed the part. We've had no issue since. Here in Paducah, we've always used Lee’s Heating and Air. They’ve always done well. They worked with me and got in contact with me well.

The first technician who came out for the AC was in a hurry and didn't want to go up to check. He was just checking outside. I knew that there was a problem with the AC but he just said that everything including the pressure was fine because there was cooling during that moment. So the problem wasn't fixed on the first visit. The AC had been freezing since the first call I made. Normally, when your AC freezes, you're able to defrost it and it buys you a little bit of time. But the AC kept doing that for the whole month. I had called because that weekend, it concerned me that it had been doing that quite often. I was told that I had a warranty with them and they would come back out.
The older gentleman from Hector's explained that the fan was no longer working. So he changed the fan relay and put a new one in. He was very professional. He explained everything thoroughly. But for some reason, something with the fan was not fixed. I noticed it was getting really humid the following morning and that evening because we had just heard a hurricane. The house was extremely warm. I went ahead and quickly sent them that message that the job wasn’t completed yet. Then the guy came back out and replaced the keypad. He was very prompt and I really appreciated it. So everything went well after the second visit. I haven't had American Home Shield for long but my family recommends them. Circumstances are different right now. But American Home Shield has been prompt with trying to communicate directly to the service companies, so I really appreciate that, especially during this time.

That didn't happen and the $75 was taken out without us ever being contacted. I received an email telling me about South Plains Solar and giving me their number. We called previously with Home Shield for our air conditioner that was leaking and they sent someone. The first company told us that all we needed was to change the filter and it would go away. It did. Eventually, we changed the filter. It went away for about a week, and then started leaking again. We’ve been using the AC almost every day for about four weeks. We called again and this Gibson Air tech that came out did a lot more work and investigating what happened. He fixed it and did it within 45 minutes. It wasn't the filter. There was a clog somewhere. I wanted the exact same faucet that I had before and I wasn't sure that the plumber would have that so I bought it myself and I talked to somebody at American Home Shield, who said they would credit me back something for what I had spent on the faucet.
I was surprised that the rep was a little confrontational at first when I asked for some sort of a rebate for the amount I had spent on the faucet because originally, she said they wouldn't do that. Then I pushed and she said if they could get documentation from the plumber that I supplied the faucet, so I called J&L Plumbing and they said they sent the documentation. They always wore masks. I had a lot of trouble with my second claim, the ice maker. I submitted it, they came out, no problems, and they did some repairs and still, it wasn't working so I resubmitted it, they came back out, and then once they said they couldn't fix it, AHS assigned it to somebody else, and then I had nothing but problems from then on. I probably spent over 10 hours on the phone on hold trying to get through. They'll send in somebody else out this week.
The other issue I had is that two times now I’ve called with water leaks that were emergencies and it still took four days to get somebody here. AHS has a policy where they can escalate it to an emergency situation. But if they can't find somebody, then I have to find somebody and submit that person to them. By the time that’s resolved, it's either your house is ruined or it's so bad, you're just gonna wait for a regular repair person anyway. That definitely needs to be improved as well.

I only had one control when I bought it.” It was his word against mine. I had to pay the $100, and he didn't fix anything. I'm not too happy about that. The technicians need to be more knowledgeable about fixing the problems. I understand that when I bought the warranty, Home Shield claimed if something can't be fixed, they can replace the item. Every time I call them for information on my claim, I had to wait 90 minutes to 2 hours on the phone. But when they want you to enroll with them, they are on the phone instantly.
I had a claim where they sent out Comfort Pros. The technicians were very professional. They did the analysis and submitted their report to American Home Shield. I don't know what the deal is between Comfort Pros and American Home Shield. But when they submitted their report, my out of pocket cost was coming out to $3,000. American Home Shield gave me a cashout amount of about close to $1600. The $3,000 that I had to pay was supposedly not covered. I was not told this upfront.
This was a 30-year-old unit so I ended up replacing the whole HVAC system out of my pocket. I accepted the cashout amount and I sent American Home Shield an email yesterday after the work was done with the invoice. They said it's going to take about 21 days for me to get the check for $1600. This is totally unacceptable. The consumer has to pay $3,000 and they pay $1600. How can you build a 30-year-old unit which has completely gone? I have the pictures of the unit as well. I was not happy at all.

American Home Shield's claim process is easy. However, their service providers claim that they don't fix certain things. They don't seem excited about getting the job done. I had their plumbing service come out when my tub handle was broken and I requested that to be fixed. The tech then said that he doesn't do that. I went ahead and got the parts from the manufacturer, but that's supposed to be the contractor's issue to get it.
AHS sent another company and the tech from there fixed my issue in less than five minutes. So I'm not sure if the different companies have different ways of interpreting the contract regarding what they fix or what they don't fix. I'm expecting that when I do a claim, it's fixed right away. The contractors should leave the details regarding what they do and don't do with American Home Shield so that AHS can discuss that before the contractor comes out.
Recently, their contractor Airboss Mechanical handled an issue I had very well. There was a problem with the pipe that goes to the back of the house from the AC through which it drains the water. Airboss advised me that they're not supposed to be the one to take care of that. I got that done and they fixed the AC itself. Overall, scheduling service is fast through AHS.

MS Services changed out an little electrical panel that was not working in the heater. They had to order the panel. That took about two to three weeks so we didn't have heating. And then when it got fixed, it was super fast. The contractor was in and out. The heater worked for about two weeks, and then it stopped shooting hot air. Home Shield sent the same company out to fix it. I still had to pay the 125 again to Home Shield to be able to get it fixed and it was just a small little piece of plastic. That was what the tech said was old and needed to be switched out. But it was smaller than when you pop open a soda through at top.
Submitting claims is long waits on the phone. I almost wanted to just not even have it. I tried to give Home Shield another chance but it's a long process. Even when you go online. Also, you gotta press all these, “Press this, press that, is this your address?” Sometimes, even the machine doesn't pronounce it correctly. Do I say yes or no? Because it didn't sound like my street. And then when you finally get someone, they try and you try, so you're no less than 40 minutes on the phone and that's a lot of wait. A lot of times, you try to do it on your lunch break and then it would go a little further than that.
I would like to see changes made by Home Shield having more people that speak English. Sometimes, it's very difficult to understand what they were asking. They're in a different place, but sometimes they can't hear you so you have to repeat yourself. And then other times, I feel it is a dual echo so I'm like, "Oh, I'm sorry, what did you say?" And then I try and give them the spelling of my address but then they don't get it. It makes it for a little longer on the phone.
One time, I had a washer issue and it took Home Shield three months to get it correct. That's a long time. They kept sending out the wrong people who said they don't fix that kind of model. I told them it was a Whirlpool. It can't be that complicated. Sometimes people don't have that language thing with you, then they don't know what Whirlpool is, and then Home Shield would send you the wrong technician, who would then have to order parts but order the wrong thing. I had my washer completely replaced because why? All it needed was a drum and they kept ordering the wrong one for the wrong model. That took three months without any washer.
In addition, my service pay before was never over $100. Now, it's 125. I'm leery about next time, it would be 150 or 175 just for them to come out and service you three weeks on because they have to order things. They don't have anybody close enough like that company that came out was out from Sacramento and do we not have anybody local in Santa Rosa?

I had a leak through the plaster in my basement's ceiling which damaged it. Lockhart Plumbing & Remodeling was sent by Home Shield to handle the issue. The techs came and they had gloves and masks on. They had to cut out the opening to find the leak and then replace all of the things that were leaking. They found that there was a connection pipe that had a crack in it. It took them a couple of hours to fix things. I've gotten good service so far with AHS. They’re quick to respond.

The tech from Express Comfort came out and went straight to our AC. He went in there like it was a toy and came back out and told me to change my filter. He showed me how to change the filter and he was gone. It seemed like it had been faster than I thought it would. I've always had a home warranty and I will never go without one. I’m a Realtor by trade and I tell everybody, “Get you a home warranty.” With American Home Shield, I just make a phone call, pay my $75, and the contractors come out. Any company that came out has been more than gracious. They always do a little extra to help me understand what I need to understand.
One thing, and I think this is maybe across the board for all home warranties, is if you have multiple things to adjust the price to where you're not paying $75 for everything. Once one thing breaks down, it seems like everything breaks down back to back. I did the air conditioner and after that my disposal stopped working. Then even now, I have two appliances that are kind of not working. Because I paid the back to back $75, I still have to pay that fee to get somebody to come out. If only they could combine together or somehow, discounting it when it's multiple things. That would be cool. But it is what it is.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I've had American Home Shield for years. Submitting claims has been easy, but I had one incident with American Home Shield where I called one day for a service request. The young lady that was on the phone when I put in my service request asked me if I wanted to use the card on file. I said no since that was my debit card and it was my payday that day. I didn't want them to use that card and I gave her my Mastercard number to use instead. Evidently, she didn't put it through my bank. She went and used the card that was on file and Bank of America is such an awful place. They put it directly through my account because there wasn’t enough money in there to cover the $75 charge.
I went back and forth with American Home Shield as well as with the bank in regards to this. That $75 that the bank charged me for, plus the insufficient fund of $35 was never replaced to me. That was money that I lost. The bank asked me to have AHS send a letter, a proof of what happened, and I kept calling American Home Shield asking them that, but they never did. I thought to get rid of them then at that time, but my husband said we've had them for over 20 years. We went ahead and kept them. I called them back and they would send me a little something, but I don't know what it was. Other than that, everything been okay with them.
One time, I requested service for my icemaker on my refrigerator, and they sent Airboss out. The technician came, and he checked my water flow. He said it was perfect, so he looked at the ice machine, and he said the plastic piece in there that they put in the refrigerators now was not gonna last for more than six years. That was broken apart, so he told me that he was gonna have to order the part, and that he would be back in a week to install it. That's what it is and we are glad that he came and installed the piece in my refrigerator. The icemaker has been fine too. It’s making ice now.
However, their quote or advertisement says if they can't repair something, they would replace it and they need to do that. We had some trouble with our air condition several times, and they've sent different people out to patch it up. This one guy told us that the air condition needed to be replaced but American Home Shield would never replace that air condition. They sent another company out there and whatever they did to patch it up, it’s still working.

There was water leaking from the air conditioning. I did a claim online and the AHS site was fine. It was user-friendly and easy enough to do. I called them the next morning because they sent a text telling me who the service company was gonna be. I was really pleased because the service company came quickly. The issue happened on a Sunday evening and the guy was here early morning on Monday or Tuesday. But the gentleman showed up with no credentials. When I answered the door, I was like, "Okay. I don't see your badge." He was not wearing anything to say if he was with a company. He said all he had was his my truck and it had the name of the company there.
Aside from being in plain clothes, I asked him where his mask was. I answered the door with the mask on because unless you've been under a rock sleeping or dead, you know what's going on right now. He said he left his mask at home. I said, "Wait right here. I'll get you one. 'Cause you're not gonna enter my home without a mask." Other than that, he was professional and it took him about five minutes to complete the work.

I feel pretty good about American Home Shield. When the AC had first broken down, I went ahead and called American Home Shield. It was my first time filing the claim so I was a little apprehensive about it. I wasn't sure if it was gonna work out for me. But once I called, they told me everything was gonna be okay. Blue Water Plumbing communicated well and they were so quick. Everything was good. They called the very day which doesn't always happen. It was beautiful. Once they got the scope of the problem, they immediately communicated with me exactly what they were gonna do, that they're gonna get back in touch with American Home Shield, and that they would order a new one. They stayed in touch with me the whole way. They told me it had been ordered, showed me which one, sent me a picture and then they got back in touch with me to tell me when it was in. They then came right out and installed it. It was one guy and he had to go to the kitchen to work, but he had on a mask due to the COVID. He did everything he could do.
This was super easy this time making the claim. I didn't even phone it in. I did it over the phone but electronically. I appreciated that because I hate either someone who can't understand me or be on hold forever. I didn't have either one of those, so it was a very good experience. Also, we've had American Home Shield on our houses for a long time. We've gone back and forth with them and one other company.

I've been with American Home Shield for 12 years in two different homes that I've had. I had a leak in my house with my air conditioner and the gentleman that came out to do it was the one that had come last time, which was fine ‘cause he knew my property and everything. But when I asked him to call me or text me versus sending me an email because I was at work and I didn't have my personal email up, he refused to do it because he continually was sending emails. Then he was reporting back to American Home Shield that he called me, and he didn't.
I ended up getting a second vendor but he refused to come out because the first vendor was there and he was worried about COVID. The third one was excellent. The third vendor came right out. We had a hurricane coming and they stood out in the rain and got everything done on the house, and didn't flinch about it. So it's hit or miss with their contractors. But I don't blame American Home Shield, it’s the contractors. I feel like they’re taking advantage of AHS. I reported all that to American Home Shield too. So hopefully they don't use those vendors anymore, especially the one that was lying to them. The young lady said that they were gonna take him off the list.
With the COVID thing, it was difficult to get ahold of AHS because their call center is in the Philippines. Also, there was a language barrier that was difficult to deal with. The last lady I dealt with was great. She spoke good English. But when I had to call again, it was hard to translate what the person was saying. Now the only issue that I have with them is they have billed me twice to send a different contractor, and I've yet to be reimbursed for that. But they said they were going to do it. Other than that, I would still tell people about them even with the experiences I had just because of the cost of the replacement of the items in the past. I've had water heaters and stuff like that put in.

But then, every time you call, it’s an hour hold usually. Sometimes you get lucky and it's 30 minutes, but it's never right to an agent. It's frustrating. They're always saying to go online and that it's easier but I wouldn't be calling if I could do it just online. The brief summary is that AHS has such poor customer service that it makes you feel like it's intentional to prevent you from actually claiming what you are entitled to. We got AHS with the purchase of our house. Within a few weeks our fridge was not working and we called AHS. AHS answers the phone fast (with a call back option if hold times are too long) to help me file my claim and pay a $100 assessment fee. A contractor was assigned and determined we needed a new fridge. It took him a week to file that with them, he said he was having a really hard time getting hold of them. Which, read on, is very believable.
At that point, once we were assessed to need a new fridge, they marked our assignment as "complete" online. As in, they decided I needed a new fridge, so now it's done. But I still don't actually have a new fridge. And there is no information on what to do next online or anywhere. Eventually I called and found out I have to call a different number (1-800-326-6710), that is not posted anywhere, they make you call a different number to get that number. This number has no callback option, so if you have to hang up for any reason you're right back where you started.
Right now I have been on hold for 3.5 hours "All of our associates are busy helping other customers... Please continue to hold" and I don't know if anyone will answer or not. There is a clear difference between how they operate the part of their business where they collect your money versus the part when they pay out your claims. I'll update when something else happens, but right now it feels like they're behaving very crookedly and I am very dissatisfied.

I contacted AHS today in an effort to get some resolution. I'm still on hold again after 1.5 hrs. They refuse to answer your question or give you the information to contact an administrator. I was told they don't have one. I'm writing this review again hoping they will see it and give a real response and/ or resolution. My previous info should be listed to get the details of the drama I have experienced and continue to experience.
Original Review: Where do I begin. Working with American Home Shield (AHS) has been the worst experience. It's the middle of summer and my AC went out. I have called multiple times to have it fixed. I have asked to speak with a supervisor multiple times but they will not allow it. I am told they will call me back but they haven't. I have received no info from AHS but the contractor called to tell me my out of pocket was $4100. When I called AHS (multiple times) I was told a different amount which was much less. I asked for a copy of the charges to see what AHS is covering and I still have not received it after multiple requests. I purchased a portable unit and they even provided me with incorrect email address to request a partial reimbursement. So much has happened and they keep ordering the wrong parts so it's been 3 weeks with no AC in triple digit weather.
I am still waiting on hold as I type this review. They are very incompetent and I do not recommend this company to anyone. The customer service is horrible and when you ask a question the agent has no clue what to tell you. Pay attention they never actually answer your question. They read a script and give you bs answers. Save yourself the drama and go with another company.

I go on American Home Shield’s website or call them when I submit a claim. Then, they get someone they contract out and the people call me. It’s simple and super easy. I’ve been with them for two and a half years and the contractors are usually good. But the last one, Quandt Plumbing, wasn't all that great. The first time they came out, the piping to my tub wasn't draining at all and they replaced some of the piping. But they left it loose so, it was still leaking. We found out when I was replacing my bathtub. So, I haven't reached out to AHS yet but I plan on calling them and letting them know. I had another issue and Quandt came back a second time but they didn’t fix anything. Some plumbing under my sink were leaking and I had to have another plumber come out on my own expense and fix it the right way. Other than that, I never had any issues with any of the contractors from AHS. They always did good work.

The water heater was no good. It broke down and was all rusted and rotted. I wanted somebody to come out there right away and the original people that AHS set me up with couldn't get out there timely. But the renters were sitting there saying that they had water dripping into the house and I told AHS that I needed somebody out there sooner to just take a look at it on the following Monday. So they were able to get a tech out there sooner.
The guy who came out gave me the information and he said he did a lot of work on it. I believe he did and it was very rusted, which I expected. He had a little bit of language barrier with my renters who were there but they let him in and gave him access to where the water heater was at. Based upon what he told me, he took quite a bit of time there, which exceeded what he thought. He also said he did a few extra things above and beyond and didn’t include them in the charge.
Privately, I paid separately for someone to come out there and give an assessment. They gave me a $2400 assessment and my coverage was 1,300 or something like that. So I knew I was going to have to pay out of pocket and in the end I had to pay considerably more than I would have thought. But based upon the independent assessment that I got, it was anticipated that there was going to be a lot of work. It was a unique case. Most of those are 700 to $800 jobs and done. But because it was built into the wall and did not pass code in its existing condition, the tech had to restructure the pedestal that it sits on and secure it.
Then, he had to tear out the wall for whatever reason. I was told that the doorway was not wide enough to pull out the water heater but I asked how it was put in there in the first place. He said that the builders must have built around it. But the tech closed the tear on the wall, so that meant that he had to go above and beyond. And I was told that that construction portion was not covered by American Home Shield which was why they had to do that. So far, I had no complaints from the renters about the work done. I went over there to collect rent and they said everything's working fine. I have to get back to the company again as the tech told me to follow up with him to make sure everything's good. The tech gave me his number and told me to check back in a month when everything should be fine. All in all, I liked how AHS treated me and that guy that was there.

We had a broken fan when we moved into the house. The very first time I called American Home Shield, I had two things that were wrong with the house. I couldn't schedule both of them at the same time for whatever reason. I had to pick one and so, I picked the other one first. Then after a couple of weeks, I got the first thing fixed. I called back in and rescheduled for the fan to be fixed. They told me that she would be calling me to schedule it and someone from the electric company would be contacting me within a week.
We were disappointed with the first people that came out ‘cause we gave American Home Shield all the information, that it was a high ceiling. Then when I talked to the contractors, I told them that as well, that it was a high ceiling in our living room, it was a large fan and it was two stories. When the contractors came out, they were not prepared for that. Then they wanted to charge us extra money to bring equipment out or whatever they needed to get up to the fan. My husband was like, “No. We've already paid the $75 and why am I paying you extra? My contract is with American Home Shield. This is what I'm paying for.” That was a little bit of frustration and we were frustrated with American Home Shield then. We informed American Home Shield and they eventually said, “Yes, you have to pay it.”
We've had people out to the house four times to get the fan fixed. They finally had to replace it, which was good. So I'm happy that it got resolved. It was a little bit of a process to get there and we had to pay an extra fee. Not all of that was American Home Shield's fault though. Once we started dealing with the contractor then it was us calling them being like, “Hey, are you coming? You said you'd be here tomorrow or today.” Two weeks later we still didn’t have the fan fixed. But I'm satisfied that the fan finally got fixed.

But when I tried to use the Nest thermostat, it was always showing as it was on. Continuously, the fan in the attic was running. That could have been the reason that it was showing as running although the outside unit was not functioning. After making a claim for it, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and they looked into the attic. Everything was fine. We had electrical panels where the lights had gone off and one of the sectors in the bathroom. The two gentlemen from Stanford Electric who came out were extremely nice, very proper and professional. They were masked and they maintained appropriate distance. We showed them the problem and they looked at the breaker switch, and they essentially determined that within the breaker switch, there was a delay and the button had gotten stuck and it was a little loose. They showed us how to adjust it and how to fix it, and they solved the problem. It was very educational. Everything has worked fine since and we now understand exactly what's going on there.
Our experience with Home Shield has been very uneven. We've had some troubles with a washer and dryer and it has been very difficult right now. We just got a letter from them about two weeks ago that parts were not available for a repair on a washer. We called them yesterday and we were on hold for two and a half hours and nobody answered. Today we were on hold for three hours and nobody answered. So we called and talked to someone in the Philippines and we learned that there were 3,800 people waiting to be served and that we were in the queue with 3,800 people waiting for a phone call for an appliance exchange. So we were very disturbed by that.

I was having issues with electricity. I turned the light on one day and all my lights went out upstairs, so I went down and I flipped the main switch in the electrical box. Usually, if something like that happens, you can trip it and then it'll be fine. Maybe something overheated or it had too many things plugged in. But we didn't do anything from a day-to-day basis. Nothing additional was plugged in. When I went back in the house to go back upstairs, within two minutes, it flipped off again. Then I could hear a humming noise. I then knew which fuses went to what, so I turned it off and gave American Home Shield a call.
When Western Electrical came, the young man was very pleasant. He took a look at the box and saw that the fuses were out. He changed the fuses. Then he saw another component dealing with my dryer and he said, “Are you having trouble with your dryer?” I said, “Yeah, I have to put it on two cycles. But I'm thinking maybe because the dryer is old.” He asked me if the dryer was drying. I said, “No, I usually have to do it on two turns.” He said that was because the fuse is out. He went ahead and changed that as well, and he put it all in the paperwork. Everything is working fine now.
My claims with AHS are very few and far in between. But I usually would do a call. I was with 2-10 before joining AHS, and I joined them just because they were a little cheaper and I knew that I didn't have that many claims. But in comparison of the two companies, 2-10 people come out sooner. For instance, if I had an issue on a Tuesday, by that Friday, someone will be here. My experience thus far with AHS is I could call on a Tuesday and they'll be out the following Friday, which is like a week and some change. I'm not exactly excited about that. When I had the electrical issue, it was a Friday. The great part about Western Electrical is they called me that Sunday just to confirm. The gentleman was awesome. He wanted to make sure that we were all right in the house. The representative who came out was equally pleasant, and he took good care of me.
As far as my claims, what I usually do is to call it in. I don't do it online because nine times out of 10, if I'm doing something or if it’s something dealing with the house, I don't have two hands to sit and type it up. It's easier for me to just get on the phone and answer the prompters because 9 times out of 10 I'm trying to investigate what's going on. They offered that every time you call, “Don't forget. You can do online.” I'm totally aware. I'm young but I'm old fashioned, too. So I prefer to speak it out so it can't be misconstrued.
The only thing is the companies that represent AHS, generally, their turnaround time is poor for me. There was one time when I had an issue on my washing machine. I ended up having to hire somebody outside of American Home Shield. The washing machine was making a clinking noise, and when I called and then I talked to the lady from the contracting company, she said, “Well, I can come and see you.” She gave me like two weeks and I said, “Ma’am, I have a family and I wash clothes.” She said, “Well, there’s nothing else I can do.” She was very unpleasant. I was asking them to do a job but I'm also paying them to do the job.
I value my time and other's time and sometimes it’s just an inconvenience. There was another time with my AC unit. They gave me like a two- week push out. I ended up having to hire a licensed electrician and said, “Hey, this is what's going on. My warranty company is giving me like a three week turnaround.” He said, “Can I come tomorrow?” “Sure.” So, I spend double money, but it's done. I'm not waiting on the mercies of someone to feel like it. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield still. Thus far, it's been a great experience. Everyone should have this kind of insurance, especially if you're a homeowner. You should continue it because the investment is priceless. It's worth having. AHS just needs to work on some of their companies and their turnaround time.

My AC gets broken quite often. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas has been out here for the past couple of months. It hasn't been two months yet and they've been out here four times. This was the second time I paid $75. The first time, because it was within 30 days. Now, the second time, it was beyond the 30 days. The very first time I called, the guy who came out here said that the thermostat wasn't working and that we would mess up our unit. Then the AC went out the second time and the guy said that it was electrical so they couldn't help me. He said that once the electrical was then your AC would be fine. Then we had a third guy come out when AC went out again and he said that we had low coolant and we had to pay additional. It was by the pound. So I feel a little wonky with that company.
American Home Shield put me on a waiting line for about an hour so I don't want to call them anymore. Then they'd give me the runaround so what I did was to go online, request a service request, and called it a day. I refused to speak to the AHS customer service people because they dropped the ball all the time. When I had my plumbing, I had to pay $500 to get my plumbing fixed because whoever they were gonna send out never came. I was without plumbing the entire day and the entire night until midnight. I had to call somebody else to fix it because I couldn't be without water. So, I'm at the point where I'm done with American Home Shield and their providers. I don't know who to trust anymore. I’m trying to look for a better home warranty service because American Home Shield has disappointed me one too many times.
We do apologize for the delay in regards to both service requests. We would love to discuss further in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The guy was very nice, polite and professional. He came in and did a good job. He did it in a timely manner and I love the service. The only thing was that they were only allowed to just put the drywall up. They were not allowed to sand and paint. I have to sand and paint myself, and I didn't understand that. They told me that all that was required was for them to put the drywall back up. When they took it down, it was sanded and painted. But it was no fault of the company because American Home Shield told me that that's the protocol. I also had one contractor out there that was going to fix the pipe. He was the one that originally drilled the holes in the wall and he still didn't find the pipe and left them. Then we went into this pandemic so I had to wait a while until we reopen to allow someone to come in my house.

My faucet was leaking so I called American Home Shield. I was on hold for over 40 minutes and they told me to expect a contractor out within 24 to 48 hours. The tech from Circa Mechanical had to make a couple of trips to the store to pick out the part. He did a really good job. But when he put my handle to control the temperature back on, he put it on backward. So the water wasn't heating all the way up. My husband was able to fix it when he came home. Outside of that, the technician very professional and super kind. He knew what he was doing outside of just putting the handle back on. I've only had to use American Home Shield twice and I understand during COVID there's a lot going on right now. Outside of having to wait, Home Shield got somebody out here super quickly. Then the technician came the very next day and made me a top priority. Overall, it was a great experience.

Home Shield did their job but MAY Heating and Air dropped the ball in a couple of times, but they did correct the issue. But I ended up having to cough up $1,500 for something that I thought would be covered under Home Shield. That's my biggest beef right now. But other than that, it was fine. I also had an issue when I had a leak in one of my pipes. They don't cover that issue either, which still makes me feel if the warranty is worth me having. When I did my claim online, it was fine. But when I was calling in about the issues that I ended up having to speak to somebody in customer service, I easily had to wait an hour and I was an hour on hold. I would like for them to reimburse the $75 that I had to pay as a copay for something that they don't cover and use that towards something that they do cover and that they can actually resolve.
We do apologize for the inconvenience pertaining to your plumbing request. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

We had two GFI outlets on our back patio that were no longer operable. KP Electric replaced those and put some weather coverings over them so that we could have power to our back patio. The tech took about three hours to finish the work because he had to go and get some parts that he didn’t have. KP Electric was fine. But the wait times with American Home Shield are ridiculous. Also, there is no other way to contact them because they provided me no other way to do it. I don't have an email address to email them. The only thing I have is a phone number but every time I call in, it's a good 40 to 45-minute wait at a minimum.
The one thing that was frustrating with this claim was we told them what our issue was and then they dispatched the guy from KP Electric who is from Woodward, Oklahoma. It’s about a two-hour drive. After he did his work, American Home Shield told me later that it wasn't covered because it wasn't within the constraints of the four walls of my primary home. It is somewhere deeply hidden in the contract. Even though I told them that I was having an issue with our outdoor patio, they didn't ask any nitpicky questions until after the service when there was a claim due by KP Electric. So I had to pay out of pocket $178 to KP Electric because American Home Shield will not cover the entire cost. They basically paid for him to travel out here and to diagnose what was wrong and then I had to actually pay for his labor and the parts.
I could have called a local electrician and not having to pay his gas to come out and fix it. So it was a little frustrating that they didn't say up front that it was not covered. Had I known that without reading the fine print of the contract, it would have determined my decision to not use American Home Shield as a middleman for that particular transaction.
We had another claim for a dishwasher and it took a while to get paid for that. But we finally got a check paid for it. They handled that claim pretty well. The only problem was that to talk to the person that gave me the correct information that I needed to process the claim, I had to go through to other people and had to wait on hold for more than an hour just to talk to people.
There is no option on their main service line that tells you the specific contact person if you would like to file a claim or to press a number if you already have filed a claim and would like to talk to someone who's processing your claim. I just go to a repeat automated menu after automated menu and I'm on hold. Then finally, I can talk to someone and then they transfer me and I have to wait on hold for the real person I'm really looking for. For those two claims that I had, I spent a good four to five hours total on the phone just trying to talk to a live person to give me the information to make the claim.
We have renewed our service for another year so we have a new one-year subscription with American Home Shield because it's worth the value in the event that something big goes on. The problem is getting that ball to move right now is very difficult when there's no other way to communicate with them other than making a claim online. But the customer service is not bad. It's just leading to frustrating hold times and then having to go through somebody that's just a customer service rep and then they have to transfer me to some more of a specialist. Then I have to wait on hold for that person.
Are you still in need of assistance?

The air went out on a Friday. I filed the claim with AHS online and then they sent me an email and a text giving me the name of the person who will be coming out and their contact information. The contractor wasn’t coming out until Monday. I called AHS on Saturday because it was so hot. I said that there has to be somebody they could get to come out that day. The representative that I spoke with on the phone was very diligent. She called place to place until she found someone who was open on Saturday. I found that to be incredible.
A guy from Simtech came and he got right to work. He went up in the attic and looked if we had any issues up there. He was here for an hour and got the work done. He also told me that there was a fuse that had blown, which prevented the AC from blowing cool air downstairs. He was very knowledgeable. The AC is working fine.

I called them for my reimbursement check and they said that I had to wait for 14 days. I'm fully satisfied with AHS and I really appreciate whoever the person from their department. The technician was really attentive and great the first time they came right out after we called. It was an emergency. They sent someone the next day and did a temporary fix which was wonderful ‘cause we didn't have any AC. They had to come back and do a permanent fix and actual switch replacement. However, communication on their end could be improved. They came out on a Sunday so it would've been nice if the office had followed up Monday morning and told me what the next step was. I had to call and ask 'cause they hadn't, and they never followed back up. But the gentleman who came out the first time as well as the gentleman who came out the second time were professional and American Home Shield was very helpful.

We've had American Home Shield for three, four years in Illinois and three years here. I like the security. Every time I've ever called them, they sent somebody else out to take care of things. There hasn’t been a problem. The guy from USA Air was wonderful. He told us what was going on and had it fixed in no time. It was a capacitor and he had it on his truck.
There are big ticket items that if we could find a way to fit in, it would be great. For instance, I've yet to find in their contract where it says if my air conditioning goes out, there's any help at all. They’ll call somebody over to fix it. If I lose my refrigerator, it's a little bit different on replacement cost. But I had the air conditioning for this house by USA Air and by somebody else, and it was $20,000. So, if I can fix it for $50, it would be great. But if it does go out, I don't know what American Home Shield is gonna do for me, and that's the biggest question I have.

Supposedly, I had an issue with my heater. They ran some tests and come to find out, they couldn't find anything that was malfunctioning on it. Then I had a second claim a few days later. My condenser fan motor went out. When I opened the claim, I asked for the same Comfort King guys to come back because I appreciated how nice they were and how they were quick to respond. They did a fantastic job. They were there when they said they were gonna be there and did what they said they were gonna do. Everything's great. I appreciate it. I also appreciate how quickly American Home Shield responds on everything. I usually submit online and within a very short amount of time, I have a contractor call me.

Home Shield's reps are really nice people. However, Complete Air Mechanical had to come back out twice but the AC is still not working. The first time, the guy got it to turn on by cleaning it in and resetting whatever he pushed to reset it. But then by that afternoon, it was 85 degrees in there again. They came back out again and he said the compressor outside was super hot. He said it's within code so it will be okay for now until it breaks again.
But then, I called them because the unit is breaking. It’s intermittent. Whatever he did would turn it back on, but then it would break again. And then I end up with four or five days in 85 degree heat in 105 degrees Orlando weather. One day, it was 94 in there. We had fans on. It was horrible. They're not coming back out because they said it's working again. It's working as of yesterday. But it doesn’t go down. If I put it on 68, it cools it to about 73, 74. It doesn’t go down. They knew that but they said it appears to be working within the numbers.

I originally started with American Home Shield in 2004 then things got tough so I let the policy lapse for a few years and then I got it again. The wait time has gotten longer. It wasn't like that before. Now it's gotten to the point where it takes sometimes over an hour. Plus, the people that I'm speaking with sometimes don't quite understand exactly what I was saying. Recently, we added an option to be able to get a callback versus just waiting on the line for them. For the AC issue, I had a call three days. Once, the person didn't even schedule an appointment. The second lady I spoke to scheduled it and Airboss Mechanical was able to come within 24 hours.
Airboss Mechanical changed some parts to the AC which stopped the fan from continuously blowing even when it is not on. A week later, it started blowing air. I put the gauge on 74 and it would reach up to 78 degrees. It wouldn't go any lower than that. The guy came yesterday. He said it was the coil so he cleaned those around the AC. That helped for a few hours, but when I woke up this morning, the pipes and the other thing that was outside was frozen ice. I don't think it's just the coils that needed to be cleaned. I think it's a deeper issue. I called American Home Shield and they're doing another recall but I haven't gotten any notification of when they'll be here to look at it again. I've had to turn the air off for four hours and not run it. It gets a little cooler then it gets hot again. So it's just a continuous back and forth with it.
Overall, AHS is definitely a great company. They've always taken care of things as far as making sure they pay for replacements or whatever the case may be. It's just sometimes people don't get the best service from the actual technicians. They don't control the contractors even though it reflects on who they're hiring as well.

American Home Shield is all right. We have expensive things here in our condo. We have a stove as well as refrigerator. The refrigerator is a Wolf that costs $10,000, so what we worry about is if it goes kerflooey, they don't give us one of equal value. They might repair it and that'd be fine, but if they have to replace it, it's not of equal value, is it? Still, we need someone to fix things and we felt that American Home Shield was a good thing to have in an emergency, to take care of it. We don't like paying $75 each time. I wish we didn't have to do that, and I could be happier without that one. One time, the guy from Armstrong Plumbing came and due to the Covid, he wore a mask and he stayed away from us. He was fine and we got a new garbage disposal, which works just fine.

My air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling the house. I went online because I waited so long with the representative but then the website was complicated for me. I got a text message saying that the contractor would contact me. J&S All Tech came out and did an excellent job. I just wasn’t happy with the amount that I had to pay out my pocket. When the guy left that day, I turned the air up so it wouldn’t be so cold downstairs. When I came downstairs the next day, it was cold there that I couldn’t even be down there. The air never cut off, it ran all day and all night. It was 60-something and I had it on 78.
When I called the guy, he said he couldn’t do anything until I call AHS so I put it online then he came back out and corrected the problem. He said it was the thermostat. He bypassed it when he was working and forgot to unbypass it. He replaced the thermostat then certain parts of the house weren’t cooling. He got one section cold, but then my little room is still hot. He finally went back down somewhere in the basement and found that the vent has closed so he fixed it where it wouldn’t close up again, and the air started coming in that other room. Then I noticed that after he left, the fan of something was still running all the time. He wouldn't come back out. He told AHS and they gave it to somebody else. I just don't like the fact that people have to keep coming back.
Overall, I'm not very happy with American Home Shield. It takes too long to even get through to talk to somebody. Then when you get somebody, he doesn't understand you. There's a language barrier and they’re constantly repeating you. In some cases, the person comes out, does the work, and it’s fine. It's just them following back up when it’s cases where they're supposed to contact you before the technician can come back out because the job has to be approved by them for certain things.
I had a plumbing issue. As a matter of fact, it’s still ongoing. But I understand that COVID came through and I don’t want anybody in the house to come back out. It first started back in February or March. The people told me that American Home Shield was gonna contact me and they didn’t. I had to keep calling. I couldn’t find a website to contact them with other than where they want to place the orders with. Finally, I decided to hit social media and I got a response from somebody with American Home Shield and she’s been following up on that issue.

The contractor contacted me right away and the representatives that contacted me were friendly and helpful. They asked if I was free. They came out the next day or the day after. It was fast. They checked out the water heater and determined that it needed to be replaced. They did what they had to do with the warranty company and their own company. It happened on a Monday, they came out, and by Friday, we had a brand new water heater. From start to finish, everything was great. I got email updates stating so and so was coming. They had a picture of who was coming so that was awesome. Everybody was professional and efficient. I'm so happy that we have the warranty that we do and the company that was chosen by the company as well.

Drain Masters came out on behalf of American Home Shield for my claim. They dropped a new pump down my water well that was not working. They couldn't go with a 110 pump so I have to find an electrician who can up the 220. Had they told me that for the week and a half we waited for it to come in, it would've been great. I could've already found somebody to do that so that Drain Masters could complete the job. Instead, the techs told me that once I get my 220 to run, they will come back and finish the job for me. Plus, I'm waiting on a drywall guy to fill the holes in the sheetrock. Regardless, I've been very pleased with the service.
American Home Shield has been a lifesaver for me. We paid cash for a home and things were not as good as they appeared to be. The cover for my ice maker was missing and the magnetic strip that runs outside of my icebox that it needs to have to hold the cold was broken. So, my freezer was trying to air condition my entire kitchen. The refrigerator which is from 1992 was in perfect condition but the missing cover and broken strip made it impossible for us to keep it running. American Home Shield had to try to find replacement parts but manufacturers don't make stuff from 1992. So, they put a new refrigerator in for me and I'm extremely happy. Additionally, my faucets have been replaced by a quality company that does quality work. Home Shield's techs have also come out and replaced parts of my dryer that's at least 12 years old. The dryer now runs like a champ.
A lot of people are saying that they have a home warranty that doesn't cover anything. I disagree with them. We are ecstatic and thrilled with everything American Home Shield has done for us. They have been easy to work with and there wasn't any back and forth on having to do something or how parts couldn't be ordered for my refrigerator. Their reps just said how much money they will give me to replace my refrigerator or they would send a unit out and install it. I got to go out and pick one that I preferred and got to bring it in. Now, I'm just waiting on my check from Home Shield.
