I've been with AHS since March. I switched from somebody else. AHS appears to cover a little bit more and the rate was a little bit less. However, I can't email, text or chat with them. I have to call somebody. It’s like, if I have a question about my contract that isn't rushed, I have to call them and sit on hold for a while. I couldn't just send an email saying, “Do you cover this based on my contract?” Somebody also said something about preventive maintenance, but I couldn't really see and find it.
For our appliance issue, Caltech came out and they were very nice and quick. They also wore masks. They looked like they took the necessary safety precautions. Something changed from the original part to the part they installed. Because it doesn't beep sometimes at certain points when the old one used to beep, and the new one doesn't. I don't think they installed it wrong because it beeps sometimes in other places. I think it's the part, not the people. It's not their fault that I can tell. They were very good and very professional. They came in, did what they needed to do and left. With all the appliances, with the dishwasher, with the refrigerator, they did everything just fine. I’m very happy with them.
Michael,
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

The AC wasn't cooling passed 75 or 76. When I turned it on, it did start working because it was 80 and then it cooled down to 75. I submitted the claim early Thursday morning and then the contractor was here on Friday. They called me and said they were on their way. The tech was very professional and very polite. He put the things on his shoes before he came in. He explained to me exactly what he was doing first, came back in and told me the issue. He fixed the issue and waited around to make sure that it did come on and start cooling. He also checked the Freon.
American Home Shield for me is peace of mind. But I got a little annoyed when I've had water heaters replaced and I still had to pay out $500 or $600. About four years ago, I had to have both furnaces replaced and I still ended up paying $3,000 or $4,000. But I understand depreciation. It's not like American Home Shield is gonna pay for a brand-new, upgraded system. I still pay less than what I would've.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your HVAC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Water Damage as a Result of Negligence from American Home Shield’s subcontractor K and J Mechanical, LLC. On May 24, 2020 American Home Shield Account #** was called as a result of an inoperable upstairs air conditioner at **. This is a second home which we were preparing to put on the market for sale. American Home Shield contracted K and J Mechanical, LLC to assess the air conditioning unit. K and J Mechanical set an appointment for Friday, June 12, 2020. Cory and another associate from K and J mechanical arrived at ** at 10:30 AM (job #**). I explained to Cory from K and J Mechanical that I lived in DC and drove down to Williamsburg that morning only for scheduled appointments that day as we were getting the home ready to sell.
Cory and his associate inspected the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. In the process of assessing the problem, Cory turned on the air conditioning unit upstairs as part of his assessment of the problem. Before leaving, Cory came downstairs and showed me a picture of the AC core which was rusted and inoperable. He explained that I would have to pay for the refrigerant and other parts associated with replacing the core. After assessing the problem, Cory and his associate never turned off the inoperable air conditioner upstairs - instead he left it running. After Cory and another contractor finished their work, I left and returned to DC.
Although the AC had not been fixed, K and J Mechanical required us to pay an additional $1595 for Case Modification, Drain Line Modification, Line Set Modification, and R-22 Refrigerant. Although I was surprised by the additional costs, Cory stated twice, “You need to read the fine print” of the AHS warranty contract. American Home Shield did not cover any of the "additional costs" charged by K and J, but paid to ONLY to replace the core - which was inoperable.
Two weeks later, my husband and I returned to Williamsburg to continue getting the home ready to sell. When my husband went upstairs, he noticed the air conditioning unit upstairs had been left on by K and J Mechanical. (It has never been disputed that the technician turned on the air conditioner to assess the problem and never turned off the air conditioner before leaving). My husband also noticed a major water leak on the ceiling panel in the hallway. My husband went into the attic to try to find the source of the leak. Upon inspection, my husband noticed approximately 4 inches of ice on the core of the air conditioner. Because K and J Mechanical left the air conditioner running, the outside unit continued to try to start the inoperable core every three minutes.
Because the core was inoperable, 4 inches of ice developed on the core, the duct insulation became soaking wet and started falling off, and water leaked out of the duct and under the ceiling panels. The wet insulation and wet ceiling panels continued to leak into the ceiling panels below. Water continued to leak onto the hallway ceiling panels and down the walls of the hallway. Water also dripped from the ceiling and into the bedroom closet. I immediately called American Home Shield regarding the water damage. Kendall from American Home Shield tried to contact K and J Mechanical. However, it was 'after hours' and they did not respond. Kendall from American Home Shield ensured me that K and J was responsible for the repairs and would rectify the situation.
Meanwhile, my husband pulled up all the wet insulation and put pans underneath the outgoing duct to prevent the spread of water to the ceiling below. I spoke with Thomas ** from K and J the following day (Saturday, 6/27/2020). He said an associate from K and J would come Monday to replace the core and take pictures of the damage. I explained to Mr. ** I came down from DC specifically for this appointment, and I returned to DC thereafter. I explained that the upstairs air conditioner had been turned on by K and J Mechanical to assess the problem but had never been turned off. I explained that upon our return two weeks later - we found water dripping on the ceiling panels and down the walls.
I explained we followed the leak into the attic and discovered it came from the air conditioning core. We sent pictures to K and J Mechanical showing 4 inches of ice on the core and all the associated water damage. The estimate for water damage repairs was $4161.00 which we have had to pay out of pocket. As a result, we sent a letter to the BBB. Unfortunately, the BBB nor I have ever received a response from American Home Shield regarding the cost for the water damage repairs as a result of K and J’s neglience.
On 7/30/2020, the same upstairs air conditioning unit stopped working again. I was on hold for over an hour before I was able to talk with Jeff (ID# **) regarding the air conditioner. I explained we were scheduled for an Open House to sell our home in 2 days - but the Air Conditioner stopped working again. As a result, Jeff tried to call K and J Mechanical. Since it was after hours there was no response. Jeff explained they received the BBB complaint, but there had been no resolution to date. He asked me to "be patient" with AHS response because it could take up to 30 days (even though we were right at 30 days as of the call).
Jeff also explained he would call K and J Mechanical in the morning, and if there continued to be no response, his supervisor told him this case would be escalated to the highest department. When I mentioned that we had already paid over $5700 for repairs, much of it caused by K and J Mechanical, Jeff also agreed it was the responsibility of the Air Conditioning company to do the right thing and cover the cost of the repairs caused by water damage. Jeff assured me he would call me the next day to determine the next steps to resolving this issue quickly.
7/31/2020 - I never received a call from K and J Mechanical, Jeff, or any other AHS supervisor regarding the repairs. As a result, I called AHS again that evening hoping to get some resolution. I spoke with Jason who was very unhelpful (ID # ** according to Jason). Jason explained that I needed to wait 24-48 hours to have K and J Mechanical respond to the work order to fix the AC unit again. I told Jason that I expected a call back from Jeff, or a supervisor, if I hadn't heard from K and J Mechanical. I also explained to Jason that I had an Open House Scheduled the next day. Jason simply repeated that I had to wait 24-48 hours for a response from K and J. I asked to speak to a supervisor since I was told by Jeff that I would hear back the next day.
However, Jason explained he could not contact a supervisor because he works from home and was talking from his own phone. I then asked Jason to email his supervisor since he was unable to call him. Jason explained there is no email address for his supervisor and therefore he could not email him either. When Jason decided he could not help me, Jason just hung up the phone on me. As of 8/2/2020, we have paid over $5700.00 to try to repair an air conditioning unit that continues to be in disrepair. I have had no response from American Home Shield and no response from K and J mechanical.

I had an issue with the kitchen faucet and the tech called to let me know when he would arrive. When he came, he assessed the problem and said he had to go get a part. He got the right part and it's a duplicate of what I had before. He installed it efficiently and quickly. I was tied up with the dog at the time, but it didn't take very long at all. It surprised me. He was through before I was through with the dog. He even asked me for an old towel so he could wipe up the water inside of the cabinet. I couldn't have asked for a better appointment. I've had a lot of repairmen come over time so I was really amazed at how efficient he was and the service responded to my needs. I was very pleased.
It's the first time I've had this service and I was really surprised that everything went so well and that American Home Shield was right on the spot. I didn't have to wait too long without having the kitchen faucet, which is kind of difficult because I had to bring water pitchers from other faucets. I was glad when the tech called and said he was coming in a fairly short period of time. My daughter was the one who recommended the service to me so she took care of getting it for me. But the contract was sent to her so I don't have a copy of the contract. I asked for a copy so that I know what it says and I don't know if that's being addressed or not.

The air conditioner was leaking and there was a lot of water pooling on the top and falling at the bottom. A-US came out and worked on it. They had to come out again because it was still leaking. The tech found the piece that he needed to fix but he didn't have it so he had to order it. Then he came back and put it on. But he had to come out a couple days later because it was still leaking. He cleaned off a coil and then it was doing okay. But it was still backing up. Another guy came out and had done stuff to it and it was okay. Then it kept backing up and backing up. This last time the guy came out, he had taken a piece of pipe off and put a plastic tubing part on there. Right now, it's doing good.
I called Home Shield and talked to somebody the first time I had the issue with the AC. Then I did the service request online and their website was easy to navigate once I figured out what to do. It's easy to use. It said that the contractor would contact me within 24 hours, and they did that, and then they came out the next day. I have peace of mind with Home Shield. There's the guarantee that if something was to break down it'd be fixed.

American Home Shield sent Central Heating and Air Conditioning out, and my experience went great this time. The year before, the contractor didn’t wanna fix anything, and they didn't fix anything. I had to get my son over here to get it fixed. But it was not Home Shield, it was the air company itself. He was the same guy. The first time he came out, I was in a really bad health state then. I just came out with pneumonia, and he talked down on me. He talked like I was just a little regular chap on the streets. It's something like somebody put their hands on the fence and bent them down. I asked him, “Are you gonna fix it?” He said, “No, I ain’t doing that kinda work. I’m just not doing it.” He left here and he didn’t do it.
I told American Home Shield what had went on, and they sent the guy out. I looked at the truck and it was the same truck and it was the same technician. But his whole attitude turned completely around. He amazed me, and he did his job, too. He resolved the issue this time. He was right on time as well. When I contacted AHS on Saturday, the technician contacted me on Sunday. He was out here on Monday. American Home Shield is great now. At first, we had a rocky road. I wasn’t really familiar with how it operates completely. I was mad at Home Shield, but I should have turned that attitude towards the technician. Now, so far, I am pleased. Putting in a claim is simple as hell, too.

We called Home Shield and they just did the claim over the phone. And then, my wife dealt with Home Shield when the contractors came to the house. Heritage Air and Heat fixed the AC the first time. And then after two weeks, the AC stopped again. The guy came and the tech said they thought there was some kind of blockage. I don't understand how it can have a blockage when they put that new stuff on there. My wife was not happy because even the first time when they came in, they left a couple of mess in the attic and she had to clean behind them. They bent some filters. Also, some of the guys were in a hurry. My wife was not happy the first time with the guys.
Some of those guys need to be more careful with the stuff that they actually put in there, like the oil filters that we have for other stuff. We give them good filters, we expect to take care of the stuff, not to damage stuff, when we tell them about it. Especially after my wife tipped the guy. After she tipped him, she went up in there and saw that, and she was like on fire. She was mad. But the AC works good right now. My wife said the second guy was good. The contractor came out there and took care of the problem.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had American Home Shield before in my other house when they were charging $50 or less. I've had them on and off and when I got this house, after a while I decided I need to have them do it. I like the security of having them just in case. Sometimes they're a little bit different depending on the subcontractor. But they're great about sending usually the right contractor do the right job. I'm bad about that. If you really want the contractor you had before, they're good at sending them too.
If a guy comes and fixes the toilet and it's not a leak but something else that's covered under the contract, and you don't call in for that specific deal, you need to call again for another claim while the guy’s standing and talking to you. If it's covered, AHS could get it fixed instead of trying to call again and go through another process to get that done. That's what makes it difficult. To me, when it's covered, I don't see the big deal if they find something else. Home Shield sometimes depends on who you get. Sometimes they want you to let that guy leave and then call again for that same problem, which is crazy. Recently, the toilet was leaking. The technician from ASAP Plumbing came the next day. The stuff was jacked up so he changed it out and it was done the same day. It was great.

I've used Home Shield twice and they were pretty professional and quick. They did the requests overnight and next morning, they said a tech was coming out. I had a claim when the appliance wasn't working. When you hit start, the numbers would come on and the timer would count down, but it wasn't turning on. When the tech got here, he quickly explained what happened and what it was doing and he knew exactly what to do. So he took it off the wall and opened it up. He was able to change the switch and went straight to it.

I've been with American Home Shield for six to eight years now. The competitors still ranked below them that is why we stayed. Putting a claim is efficient but they only use one sole individual, like Myers Comfort Specialist. So, if it’s plumbing, heating, or if it’s AC, it’s Myers. There’s no competition so that’s why Myers isn’t worried about anything because they’re gonna get the job, and you have to pay $75 copay no matter what.
When my AC unit got struck by lightning before, I made an insurance claim. It went through Myers Comfort and I had to call them three times for them to send the right paperwork to my insurance company. It was pretty frustrating. Then AHS didn’t pay for a new unit. They only gave $1,000 toward a new unit which, to me, the whole point of having insurance is they would cover me if it was destroyed or give me a new one. However, in my recent claim when the AC wasn't coming on, Myers Comfort Specialist came out and they said a fuse had blown. They replaced it and it took them 30 minutes.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I've had it since then, for seven months. The AC was leaking water from the air condition pump. The contractor came and exchanged the part out. I was very impressed with this last time because they were so quick in correcting it and fixing it. For the particular item, they gave me the date within a couple of days, but it was a week before they could get to me. Other than that, I didn't have a problem.

The first AC repair company sat there and waited almost two weeks before they could come out and evaluate our AC unit. I had to keep calling AHS to schedule the appointments. We also paid an additional almost 200 bucks for Freon and we didn't understand why that didn't go to American Home Shield. Then the AC still broke. So Integrity had to come out less than two months later. Integrity was fine compared to the last person that was there. They made my appointment the next day and was able just to come by and evaluate to see the parts they needed versus pushing me down on a waitlist. The issue was the compressor and they were able to fix it immediately and get us back out of inactive.
American Home Shield has always come through on everything they said and they're very professional. This issue with the AC was the only time that I had a bad experience. I've always had them since I've bought the house five years ago. Dealing with them was great but they should hold a little bit more accountability. As a consumer, I shouldn't have to set their appointments.

Submitting the claim was very simple. I just made a phone call. The Freon wasn't doing what it needed. May Heating and Air had to replace a part and then put $632 worth of Freon in it. But that was less than having to do a whole new thing and I was grateful for this Home Shield contract. May Heating and Air was very thorough and efficient. There was another part that had to be fixed that Home Shield had to send an electrician out to fix. That guy came out and got it up and running. I was pleased. The AC is working fine.

I went online to submit a claim and it was straightforward. Their system didn't recognize my account one night. But it was just some issue they were having temporarily. I did it the next day and it was fine. They sent an email about when to expect the contractor right after they did the commission. I've never owned a home that had a septic tank and we kept getting a bad smell in the house. The neighbors were the ones who told us that it might need to be sucked out. The guy from Stephenson Septic Tank showed up and he found it right there. He dug the thing out but he said that wasn't our problem and it was working properly. He was knowledgeable and he gave me quite a few tips on different things. We have two bathrooms but we have only used one because there are only the two of us. He said that we could be getting the backup smell which could be caused by the trap drying out on the other bathroom. So, it didn't need to be sucked out. American Home Shield is a great program and for the price, it’s peace of mind. It’s a great thing to own and I've told several other people about it that have already gotten on the program now just since I've been up here.

Heating and Air came out for the AC checkup at first and then the blower on one of the units wasn't working. The unit didn't seem to be cooling the house so they came back out and took care of that. They were very friendly and professional. Since they’ve been out, the AC has been working very well. It helped a great deal because, currently, I'm on 100% telework. I'm here all day, every day. I've gone from being warm in the house to being comfortable.
I submitted the claim online and I liked the website. It was user-friendly and the only thing that I would like to see is somewhere where I could type in more details. But that's just me because I'm detail oriented. I received an email and a text as to when to expect the contractor. Then, prior to their arrival, I received notification that they were on the way. I closed on this house on January 10th and I’ve been with American Home Shield for six months. This is my first home and I always heard from other people, including my brother who has owned two homes, that it's a good idea to have a home warranty.

My dryer went out. It was one of the fuses and it wasn't getting hot. I called American Home Shield and they took the $75 out on a Sunday. The next Monday, the two guys came out and fixed it. They didn't tell me what it was but my experience is good. They called and made appointment. I like the fact that I already had the card on file. Before the contractor came out, American Home Shield had already taken the deposit. That way, when the contractor comes out, you don’t have to worry about writing a check or having somebody be there. If you're not there, you don't have to worry about payment. I enjoyed this experience and that was my first time even having a work order put in with them.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I was having a problem with our refrigerator. It’s a Frigidaire refrigerator and it's not terribly old. The electronic brain across the front was blinking number four on the refrigerator side, and the freezer side was number six. Everything in the freezer and the fridge all defrosted. We luckily have another fridge in the garage so we put all the goodies out there. We called American Home Shield then they sent out the Jea’s Appliance.
The gentleman that came out was Steve and he was absolutely magnificent. He was also efficient. He looked at it and said he knew what was wrong with it. He did some tests just to be certain. He did a wonderful job on it. The part was ordered and what got sent out was something for an oven. He said someone messed up and that he'd be back. He said he would personally order the part, which he did, and it took a while to get it. It was in Albany, New York. The office kept in touch with us and said it would take a while because of the Coronavirus. They located the part which was apparently not easy to find. Then it took a while to get here from FedEx. The lady at the office said it had to be inspected and sanitized all the way across the country.
Steve came out and installed it, and it was still blinking the number four. He said that probably would go away within 24 hours. The next day it was still blinking the number four. I gave it another day and it was still blinking the number four. We called and they said they'd send Steve back out. Then came the Coronavirus and they apparently were locked up for a 14-day thing. We called them and that went to a recording to call American Home Shield or another appliance repair shop. I thought it was on their part to call someone else ‘cause we couldn't do it. We were on lock up.
I called American Home Shield on a Friday and the young lady said they had been closed that was why they had not returned our calls because we called three or four times. My wife and I both contend that the lady didn't say they were closing up because of the Coronavirus. The lady did say that they did. That was on the recording but I didn't hear that. Having been a little bit in business myself, and if I were Jea’s Appliance company, I would have forwarded a phone to the manager, but they did not. I was not rude, rude. I said they could’ve called back. She said it was her first day back. I asked when would Steve gonna be able to come back out. She said Saturday. Steve come out and looked at it. He was checking things out and the fridge started making this noise that it has been making ever since. He said that was the fan and the motor. He would have to order that.
That was Saturday of this week. Saturday just passed and he said they'd call when the part would come in. It's been a long time since this thing started- five or six weeks. They've done everything that they possibly could. They are very polite people. We will see what happens when he said what he has to do is order a new motor and fan assembly. He said then we should be good. I don't know if they can find a motor for this refrigerator or not. That has not been found out yet. But we do have emails that American Home Shield has sent to us, keeping in touch, which is great.
We had an air conditioner take a dive. I explained to the gentleman that came out to fix that what it did and what it didn't. He went into his truck, picked out two boxes of little things, put them in the air conditioner and it worked like a champ. He asked where the air filter was. I told him where the filter was for the furnace. He wrote it down and it was absolutely filthy. He said that had nothing to do with the operation of the air conditioner, other than it wasn't breathing well. He knew immediately what to look for. He said the fan wouldn’t work but it's gonna go too, so he was gonna put it in them so we didn't have to worry about it.
We've had nothing but happiness with American Home Shield and with theirs. The air conditioning company was magnificent. These guys have been extremely good and we've had nothing but good luck with American Home Shield. We've had them a few years. When I was a real estate agent, I used to always sell their policies. Every house I sold or I was a buying or a listing agent, I threw it in the contract. There's that other company and they cost more than American Home Shield but they do less. The only thing is that the price did go up a little bit. But I'm aware it's inflation and that's something that could be considered. I'm 70 and my wife is 75. I just wondered if they had considered the idea of a senior discount.

Recently, the outside compressor fan of our air conditioning stopped running and would not come back on. We called the 800 number, and then Home Shield sent us an email or a text that told us who is the person who would come out to do it, and then we got in touch with them. That's how it always works. Home Shield referred us to On Time Plumbing & Heating and they're a great company. We have had issues in the past and they've always come out and fixed them really well.
This time, On Time came out, tested everything, put a new capacitor and the AC started running again and working okay. They tested everything and they said they it would be okay, but if anything happens within the next 30 days, to call them back. The AC ran for a few days, and then the fan stopped again. They came back out and they said that the fan needed to be replaced, so they replaced it. It's fantastic now. I would heartily recommend On Time and I would definitely want them back if I had any other issues. They are the best. It was 98 degrees here when they fixed the air conditioning down to 74. We would have had to check into a motel. It would be over 100 the next couple of days.

Jensen Mechanical came out and repaired my AC. The AC wasn't cooling. I went online and did a claim to American Home Shield. It was easy except they won’t let you choose two AC units in one claim. I had to do two separate claims. The first time it happened, I put it in the claim that my AC wasn't working. Then when the technician got here, they would only look at one. They would not look at two units. So, I had to wait and call another claim in. Now I know that I have to do two claims, but that was never clear. Jensen was good. And it’s been easy working with American Home Shield.

I called Home Shield three times about my drainage. It wasn't draining properly. A couple of guys thought they had it fixed, and couple of guys thought the coil was tilted the wrong way. It wasn't draining the way it was supposed to go. The last guy that came out thought that. He thought he needed a helper to dismantle it and put it back together where it was angled in the right direction where the water would flow downhill. He came to the conclusion that the primary drain was not clogged.
Since I wasn't getting anywhere with who Home Shield sent out, I called people that I had used in the past that I know, and it cost me 330 bucks. They came out and found that the drain was clogged, so they repiped. It wasn't a lot. Maybe less than 10 feet. They repiped the drain, and they put a level on the coil and found out it was tilted and angled at just the right amount. Everything was in good shape there. I then sent the invoice in. I got some long-winded excuse about why it wasn't covered, which I knew would be the case. I would've been shocked if they agreed to cover any of that. I got it fixed on my own. And probably, in the future, I will just continue to call my own people.
Home Shield has been a waste of money, and I will not renew it because I don't expect that they would be much use. They send people out that don't even have the name of the company on the side of their truck. Not that that necessarily indicates that they're smart people, but usually a legitimate business would have a vehicle with the name somewhere displayed.
I got about what I expected, which wasn't much. I'm sorry that the people I bought the house from wasted their money in providing that warranty for me. I'd rather have the cash. I probably went a lot farther. But I understand that there are limitations to home and appliance warranties and things of that nature, and that's why I never have in the past spent my money on them. I just don't feel like you get value out of them. It's more an exercise in who can get away without paying for anything.
I'm sorry, but I don't have a warm, fuzzy feeling for Home Shield. I would not recommend anybody buy that. I haven't talked to anyone over the phone that wasn't very friendly and polite. They've all tried to be helpful. But the bottom line is it has been a waste of money and time, and I wouldn't recommend them. But it's not just American Home Shield. I wouldn't recommend any warranty system because they're all flawed. They are not set up to truly help somebody with their expense of getting their house fixed.

We got to choose between three warranty companies when we bought the house. American Home Shield had some of the better stuff that we liked and they had better coverages than the ones that we were offered. Recently, the contractors came to rewire a new line for the doorbell. It took them about 30 minutes to an hour. So far, the stuff that we needed to get done, AHS came through. On that doorbell issue, they had to get an extra clearance to see if they were able to do that job. But other than that, they approved it, so everything came out fine.

The tech pulled the door out and disassembled the door, and exchanged these two plastic pieces. He was awesome and very knowledgeable. He came in about 10 minutes, figured out what needs to be changed, and ordered the pieces. The pieces were delivered here and then he came back. Everything was very smooth. Overall, American Home Shield was very good. We just had one bad experience. We have American Home Shield for two years and we just renewed for the third year. We always recommend them to our friends.

Also, the house was warm, and I was a little frustrated, but he was very patient. He was a calm and nice guy. The company is excellent as well. The issue came back within not even three days and they came back and fixed it for me. They also came and looked at the second air condition.
On the same day they came and fixed the first unit for me, I told American Home Shield they had to fix the unit quick. Otherwise, the other AC may go down because it was too hot in the house and it would just continue running. It was Tuesday when they came and fixed the second one. There were two parts that had to be replaced in it. One of them was in the attic, and the other one was where the compressor was. Right now, the units are functioning okay. That's all I care about. We have a 100-plus temperature every day, so I hope the system will run good and that it will run for a little longer.

It seemed to be okay. The technician was great and was helpful. But he's coming back out today because when I did a load, it did it again. It cut off my circuit breaker. It was after 10 minutes of it drying. I went out, I flipped it again and I put it running again, and all of a sudden, it made this noise and then sparks shot out. Last Friday, our air conditioner broke, so I called American Home Shield. I spoke to a live agent then I was led to believe that the contractor was coming that day, and he did. They sent out of American Comfort and the man said that we were low on refrigerant. He also checked the upstairs air handler and said that it was frozen inside and that was because of low refrigerant. He was very nice, set me at ease, and said that the added refrigerant would take care of the problem. It did, but on Monday morning, the air conditioner stopped working again.
I called American Home Shield back and they sent him out again. He kind of had an attitude. He went upstairs, opened up the air handler, and said that we needed a new air handler. He said he would get back to me, then I got an email from American Home Shield saying it would be a $540 extra because of the ductwork had to be modified to fit the new air handler. I questioned it because in my contract, it said that the air conditioner and ductwork were covered. But they said those were not covered because the contract stated that if there was a modification then they were not covered.
I then got a different company, Warren-Hay. But before they could come out, I changed my mind and decided to not go with either American Comfort or Warren-Hay. I called my regular service air conditioner service contractor and had them come out. They told me that I had a leak in the in the coils in my air handler and that it was illegal for American Comfort under EPA guidelines to put refrigerant into a known leak. So, I decided not to deal with American Home Shield and I had my own contractor take care of my air conditioner for me. All in all, I was not happy with American Home Shield's coverage. It was my first ever request for coverage and I've been with them for about a year. I've never asked for anything and that was what they did to me.

Home Shield is a good plan. My husband and I use Home Shield and we were pleased with them at our house. However, it depends on the situation. There were a couple of charges that they charged my mother anyway even though they didn't need the service. When the contractor went out, the issue was already fixed. It just resolved itself. My brother went over there and did something, and then it was taken care of. We called Home Shield thinking that we needed them to fix the issue, but then sometimes they're resolved, sometimes not. There was a problem with our freezer. A drain line was freezing. Then it wouldn’t defrost. It was leaking water. But it was because there was a line that was plugged. Eberhardt Services fixed it and they fixed it on the first call. They also came for a washer, and the problem with that was the unit kept prematurely shutting off because it said it was overloaded. Eberhardt had to order a part, they came back and then installed it. It took a little longer than liked. But we have Electrolux appliances and not everybody can work on them. That was a bit of a problem.
The first guy Home Shield got for us didn't do Electrolux. I had to call them back and tell them that. Home Shield then found somebody else. They had to do more digging. With the confusion of not having an Electrolux certified guy, we had to wait about 10 days for him to come for the first service call. And then they fixed one of the things, and then a week later, they fixed the other. It was an abnormal problem. I don't want to punish those people because it was reasonable. Also, Eberhardt was a good service company. They're very professional. I've been around a long time and I have lived in a lot of houses all over the country. I've had Home Shield for a long time and they go up every year in price. They can improve by keeping their price down.

Most of the time, I've been satisfied with them. I've had a new air conditioning in my own home from them. I also got a new refrigerator as well as a new dryer. They don't always replace it to the one you want, but they give you the money for what your other one was worth and they don't seem to knock it down too much. Sometimes when you buy used cars, it loses money. If I bought a refrigerator years ago at $400, they would give me $400 back for it and I just have to add the extra money if I want a better quality one. With that in mind, I've not found them too bad at all. The past months are okay as well. It's only gone up 50% in over 13 years for the service charge, so that's not too bad.
Recently, Roadrunner Appliance Repair recently came out for my son's house and they were fine. However, we had difficulty one time ‘cause it was through an air conditioning unit that was old, and the furnace wouldn't work. It wasn't compatible with it, so that took a bit longer than normal, but normally they're speedy. The only bad thing is that I don’t think they use contractors that are always in the area. Whether or not it's because these contractors don't have a contract with them, I have no idea. For instance, this last one I've done is coming from Vail, and we live in Sierra Vista, so it takes them a bit longer to get out than it would a local one.

Then, whenever I had to call and reschedule, he came out to fix it up. But something wasn't right when he left. I called him within five minutes and he said he would try to make it back out. He just left so he was probably not far off. The faucet just needed some tightening but he said, "No, after some time." He never got back to me. I had to call the company and rescheduled for him to come back out. The issue was done 95% properly. He said over the phone that the faucet was a little loose. He knew it but he just left it thinking that it would be okay.
I just started with American Home Shield two months ago so that was my first service call. I submitted the claim online and it was straightforward and good. Getting somebody out needs improvement though. It wasn't as fast as I thought it would be. If I had an emergency situation, I would probably have to call a plumber. The air conditioning unit was not cycling on and off. The fan wasn't running. I went online to American Home Shield's site and called. The website has that ability to be able to submit a claim right there online or somebody would contact you. That had been working maybe a week earlier, but it wasn't working that evening that's why I had to wait on the phone for like an hour. After I made my call, they said somebody would contact me and I was immediately contacted.
The contractor was fantastic. It can kind of be worrisome when you're in a 90-degree weather and your air conditioning goes out. You never know if it's gonna be able to be repaired that day or if you're gonna have to wait a day. But they went above and beyond to get it repaired that same day. It made life a lot easier versus sweating and wondering if you're gonna have to go somewhere else. We were able to stay here and enjoy the home. Sometimes you wonder about home warranty companies if they really provide you the service you need but I have been very impressed with American Home Shield so far. We've had two claims and I've been really happy them. I'm glad the seller did buy the policy for us. It's well worth it.

One of our claims was the refrigerator. We replaced it and everything was perfect on that. The other thing was the vent hood. The whole assembly came apart. Home Shield reimbursed me for it. I have a vent hood that showed up today which I bought from Best Buy. A couple of months ago, a contractor came out and said my coils were leaking. I asked them what I had to do. I paid my $100 fee. The contractor then said I needed Freon. They already put the coils in. They filled it with the Freon. But Home Shield didn't cover both. The contractor hooked up everything. They checked for leaks. They went inside where they installed the coils. Nothing leaked. They went to the back. They said nothing leaked. They charged me 500 and some odd dollars after I paid the $100 for them to come out and do all the stuff.
A month and a half later, the AC was not getting cold again. I called back Home Shield and said, “Hey, I know there's a 60 days, and it's coming up on it, and it's not getting cold. It's a leak or something.” And they said, “Well, it's only 30 days now.” It used to be that when you call them back if you're having problems with anything, it would be either a 90 or 60-day. Why did it change from 60 days to 30 days? Is it just different products that you only do so long for or did this change all the way completely around everything? They also said it would be another $100 for the contractor to come out. And then, if they come out and I need Freon, they would charge me $80 a pound. So, the Freon is not covered with them, and I have the R22 which is $90 a pound. I called another home warranty company to see because Home Shield doesn't cover the Freon. The company I got ahold of does. I'm thinking about switching, but I really like Home Shield's service.

A/C Rescue came out to fix a capacitor that was broken. They fixed the problem immediately. First, I called American Home Shield and then I ended up going online because I was on hold for a long time. The website was good. They gave me a time frame on when to expect the contractor, and he was right on time. He was very professional and got the work done very quickly. The repair helped me go from 93 degrees to 78 in the time frame that they fixed my place. The whole claim experience was good.

I have a rental property and it is an older home. I know that if something breaks down, if I'm renting something, I would want someone to come out and fix it in. Looking on the internet, the reviews and what AHS offers, I went with it. I had a claim on a washing machine. The water kept running. It wouldn't turn off. It just kept pouring in there. The contractor came out and he said something about shortening the pipe. He was very professional. Everything was great. I'm so pleased with American Home Shield to the point where I referred my parents. They have a home and a rental property and we just signed them up with American Home Shield last week.

When submitting claims, I go online, submit my problem, and tell Home Shield what kind of appliance and what the brand name is. Then, immediately, they assign someone to it. I had an AC issue and J & J was here the next day. The tech checked everything out inside and outside the house and made sure everything was okay. He did great work and I haven't had any problems.
I tell others about American Home Shield but a lot of people don't want it because they're saying they can save the money and pay for it themselves. People don't like the idea of paying another monthly bill but I think it's worth it. You don't know what's gonna stop working and what the cost is gonna be so it's great to have Home Shield.

Everything was handled and taken care of quickly. The only thing is that it would be nice if the portal, when I logged in, had all of the most up-to-date information so that I knew exactly what was going on versus doing it via email or phone calls. Overall, it's been a phenomenal experience, something that I wasn't aware of that existed previously. I would highly recommend AHS.

So, I had a massive amount of water in my basement, and it resulted in the water heater to be replaced. I submitted my claim through the website. It was very easy to use. Also, I was contacted by the John T Cannon Plumbing really quickly about that. They were out within about five hours. They were very good. I would recommend AHS to keep using them. Everything's been functioning perfectly. My experience was outstanding. It was the first major claim that I'd had with American Home Shield but I've used them a couple of other times. He dug around and unplugged the drain and made sure it was clear. He was polite, efficient and quick. Things have been working great since then.

They have been wonderful. They're always respectful and concerning. They always speak as though they're smiling. They get the work order out while we're still talking, which is amazing. Sometimes I get the work order trickle from the subcontractor almost as I hang up. With COVID right now, so many people are doing things to their houses so things are getting done that you have to wait for worker bees to come and help and do anything. But I am not experiencing that delay or that problem with American Home Shield. I've recommended them to my sister-in-law and she has it now on her property in Idaho. My daughter and her husband are gonna be moving and when they get to Texas, they're gonna use American Home Shield. It just makes sense.
When the contractor came out for my refrigerator, he found the problem that I was experiencing that I didn't even know about and he was able to order the part to fix it. The door wouldn't completely closed. We thought it was the way we were loading it or it might not be a good fit right now. But it had been consistently doing that. The tech said that the issue was with a part and he ordered it and fixed it. My refrigerator closes now.

Something was going on with the water heater where it almost sounded like the water was either backing up or it wasn't processing through. The gentleman who was here said he really didn't know what to do. He said he put a cut off switch on there. But the cut off switch was already on there. I hadn't been to our new home since I purchased it in March, and this was like my second visit to be there alone after finding out what's going on. Whenever something goes on, they wait until I get home for me to decide what I'm gonna do. But he said he put like a filter purifying faucet, and he said that was the reason that it may have been triggering it.
He cut off the valve to it, and I put new filters on and everything. I travel, so I'm barely home. I noticed when I was there, after I put the new filters on and then opened it back up, it was really yucky. I let the water run. The water finally kicked in on that faucet, and the noise seemed to have simmered down all the jerking. It's an old house so it’s gonna make some type of noise, but it wasn't making as much noise. I noticed that because I was there for 12 days. So I noticed that it was not making as much noise. The same person came for something under the sink. It exploded. My mom doesn't usually mess with the trash compactor. She didn't run water, she did everything dry, and then turned it on. The pressure popped the pipe. She kept telling me to let my brother come do it, and I said, “No, I'm paying for this. Let's make sure that we didn't mess anything up.”
That same person came, and he showed her how to take care of that as far as what to do next time she put stuff in the trash compactor. She doesn’t use it anymore because she’s terrified. Overall, he did what he was supposed to do the first time but the second time, he didn't. He shouldn't lie and say he did something when he didn’t. Because if he did put a cut off switch, I would have seen the trimmings. My daughter also said, “He doesn't seem like the same person.”
He did give us good advice saying, “Yeah, you need to go ahead and change that section.” But he did say this is not what Home Shield does as far as like the water purifier. And there really was no repair. He only explained it. He did troubleshoot like he was supposed to but as far as doing anything, there was nothing. I don't want that guy to come back. Other than that, I also had an AC claim with Home Shield and that was taken care of a month prior to this issue. The AC was low on Freon. The contractor took care of that the same day. They automatically knew what was going on, so they did it. I ended up having to pay extra because it was so much that American Home Shield will pay for.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. take care.

Somehow it was put down on my account that I was taking a cash out option. I discussed this with a customer service rep, but never agreed and instructed him to proceed with the repair. Because of this miscommunication within American Home Shield, the ordering of my parts was delayed by two weeks. In the meantime my house DID NOT HAVE ANY AIR CONDITIONING! I tried calling in to customer service nearly every day and each time I was on hold for at least an hour then would get conflicting information. Sometimes they said there was a hold on my account because of the cash out. Other times they said that the parts were already ordered, which was apparently a lie. Many times they would just hang up on me and I'd have to start all over. In any case it was clear they had no idea what was going on and no authority to fix the situation.
I spent nearly 20 hours on the phone with AHS over two weeks trying to get this resolved. It was so bad at one point I thought this company was basically a scam. Mind you the actual repair company in Las Vegas was great, they helped me with AHS after I called them each day trying to get an update. But even they were very frustrated by AHS's incompetent customer service. I will be getting a different home warranty provider as soon as my policy expires.

It's been a terrible experience since the pandemic. We had a dishwasher that started leaking and American Home Shield sent a company out to fix it. The first company that they sent out was terrible because the guy did not fix it. Weeks went by and he finally said, "I'm gonna come back and try to fix it, do some other thing." He did and it still leaked. The guy came out twice and he never did fix it. American Home Shield couldn't get ahold of them to ask if they wanted them to just replace it. This kind of went on for a couple of weeks.
Finally, they said it needed to be replaced but nobody ever did anything so we kept following up, following up, following up. My husband must have talked to these people numerous times. You're on hold for at least an hour and a half to two hours waiting for somebody to come on. The other thing is that we've sent emails. After about three emails, they finally said they were not reading our emails so we could not send them. They were just thrown out. There was no way to get ahold to a live person or even to an email person that would respond to this. It was absolutely awful.
My husband finally talked to somebody and they said they'd send an email of an offer. They sent us an email for an offer which was stainless steel on the outside, but not stainless steel on the inside. My husband told them that was not what we wanted. We wanted to have the kind of what we already had which was stainless steel all the way through. That took a few more weeks. Every time we talked to somebody, they took all the information down and said, "We understand. We'll call you right back. We'll get someone on this." This went on and on and on and nobody ever got on anything. We talked to somebody and they'd swear that they would be the one that would call us back but we never heard from anybody. It got very frustrating. In the meantime, had no dishwasher. It leaked all over the floor and we couldn't use it. We had to use our own hands. It was very annoying.
After almost three months, they finally sent someone out with the dishwasher after they re-offered a different model with the stainless steel interior. The guy who installed it and took the old one away was wonderful. We had a KitchenAid and they replaced it finally with a KitchenAid so it was comparable. It's a new model so it's a lot quieter than our other one. We're happy with that but we really do not get good service from them at all. People would say it's a pandemic and they don't have the people returning to work and this and that. We can understand that but it shouldn't take over three months to get something installed. They didn't have the right and enough help and the help that they did have tried their darndest to do something.

Of course during the hottest time of the year in Las Vegas, when the temperature was 112 degrees, my Air Conditioning goes out. After going to a couple of hardware stores looking for 30A fuses for the A/C unit (which has worked in the past), installing them and then finding out that new fuses aren't working, we decided it was time to call our home warranty service. We were informed that the wait time would be more than an hour so we decided to call back later in the evening when maybe so many people would not be on. We called at 9pm, 11pm, 12 am, and 3am. Still the same wait time or worse. I was on hold for approximately 1.5 hours when the call was suddenly disconnected.?? I decided to get some sleep and to call back again later.
After 3 calls and a grand total of 2 hours and 35 minutes on hold, I was finally able to speak to a rep. She told me that could get me an appointment in two days. Mind you, this is in 112 degree heat with no A/C. The day of the appointment arrived and the tech showed up as scheduled and worked on the A/C. A very nice man, seemed like he fixed the problem so I even gave him a tip. 15 minutes after he left, the A/C stopped working again. I called the company that AHS contracted the job out to, to let them know that the A/C is not fixed and the tech needs to come back. I was told that I would have to schedule yet another appointment (which meant waiting another day in a house that's 112 degrees).
I decided to contact AHS to see if there was any way they could get this expedited, since they took my payment and the work that was scheduled and paid for, was not completed! So here we go... another 2 hours and 1 dropped call later, I was basically told that I would have to wait another 2 days for a new appointment, even though the first appointment resulted in the work not being done correctly. I'm 80 years old and living in this kind of heat could mean a death sentence for me. I told the representative "never mind", I would be dropping my service with AHS. I contacted a private A/C repair company, who scheduled me for first thing the next morning.
I’ve paid American Home Shield my service fee, and the work I paid for was never completed. I would like to get my money back, but I don't want to be on the phone for another 3 or 4 hours trying to do so. I'm currently looking for a new Home Warranty service and I would never recommend this company to anyone, unless you truly enjoy hold music, being disconnected and endless hours spent waiting and hoping someone picks up the phone. Funny, AHS seems to have enough money for lots of expensive commercials. Maybe they should use a few of those dollars to hire more people to answer the phones – there’s a thought.

I called to see if I could change vendor for my repair due to the fact that the vendor AHS assigned to complete my service has horrible reviews, after an hour plus waiting on the phone I finally got someone and he informed me that I would be able to change vendors and he gave me a vendor list that I was able to choose from and was told to contact AHS. After contacting the vendor and after 1 more hour on hold I told them I had the vendor on their list with much better reviews. At this time the customer service rep told me that I could not change vendors. After a few min of telling me that it was policy I asked to talk to a manager. She took my contact info and was told that a manager was going to call me back in 30 min. It never happened.
So I called again, waited one more hour and got a very disgusting and rude customer service person. I explained what the issue was and she told me it was policy. I asked, "Can you explain what the policy says," and she said and I quote "I don't have to. You don't pay my Bills." I thought I was talking to someone that would try and help but I was wrong. I will not be a customer any longer. AHS should get better training to these people.

My dryer stop working the end of June. Contacted AHS for a service request. Service request was processed quickly and a technician was at our home in a few day. We were informed we needed a new motor and it would take probably over a week to get parts and services again. Since it was at least 20 years old we did not want to do that and wanted to take the option of payment instead of repair. Here is where the frustrations begins. AHS was suppose to call to review option the following day and we did not get a call so we called. Bottom line, it took hours and numerous call to talk to someone that could provide us with what the payment ($218) would be instead of repair.
We agreed to the payment and we were told all we needed to do is email the bill for new dryer and they would process the payment. I purchased the new dryer July 1 and emailed AHS same day. I received a confirmation email stating that I would be receiving a check in 7-10 day. Three weeks later and no check, I started call again to check on status. Again numerous calls and hours later, I reached someone who said I should have the check next week. July 31, still no check I call again. I reached someone fairly quickly but could not provide information on status but offered to reimburse me half of my service fee ($37.50) for my trouble and promised to transfer me to some who could help with my original question. So I get transfer back into the line waiting to speak with a person that could help me.
Over an hour later, I am frustrated beyond believe. I decide enough is enough, I am just going to cancel my contract when someone picks up. Finally, someone picks up and that person could not cancel my contract. I had to speak to someone else. So I cancelled my contract, I don’t know if I will ever receive reimbursement for the service fee or payment in lieu of service but immediately after cancelling my contract, AHS did send me an email that I owed them $68.99 for an Administration fee for cancelling early.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

My claim experience with AHS went fine except for the contractors who were supposed to order a part never came back. They marked the job as closed when the cylinder to my faucet was supposed to be replaced because when he took it apart, it was degraded. Even though it worked, it leaks. So we have to wait until it stops leaking in order for us to make sure that it stops dripping water. He said he had the part number to it and that he would order it, but he never came back. The service of AHS is good though. A company I work for is contracted through American Home Shield so I don't have a problem with them. When I submitted the claim online to AHS, it was flawless. Now, I'm having an issue with the air conditioner. The guy who came out to look at it told me he was gonna order a compressor. I asked AHS if I could get somebody else to come out. Then they sent me a thing the next day saying everything was closed out. Then I got a text message from the company saying my part was gonna be $900.
When I called American Home Shield, they said it shouldn't cost that much. I'm just gonna pay for the Freon but that's not what happened. They said I could do a cashout, but when they told me how much it was, I called somebody else that I knew could come and look at it, and they told me they couldn't do anything with that amount. The mixing valve in the faucet in the shower wasn't working. It would either be scalding hot or freezing cold. We couldn't adjust it. When we called American Home Shield, the wait was up to three hours but once I got to talk to somebody, it was okay. When the plumber came out, he described it as something like a ball and it had different pieces with it. American Home Shield only allowed to pay 250 for that, and we had to pay 84. It's still kinda funky, but it's a whole lot better than it was.
American Home Shield advertises that if the appliance can't be fixed, they'll replace it. When I had an issue with the oven. the appliance guy couldn't find the part so he told AHS that he looked everywhere but it was not available. AHS said that they would look for it. Then after being on hold for like a total of six hours one day last week, I finally got ahold of somebody. They said that they couldn't find the part and they gave me a reference number where they were gonna replace the stove. I never heard anything from them. I started calling again and I was on hold again for six hours all day long. I never got in touch with anybody. My husband and I both got on the phone, and he finally talked to somebody. He told the rep that we had a reference number where the oven can be replaced. Then the rep said that she would have to transfer it to the purchasing department. So, he was on hold for two hours and they never answered.
We also had an issue with the air return vent on the AC and the air conditioner guy came out. He called back and he said that AHS said that they would approve it. They were supposed to call us back. But we haven't heard from them, so I'm not real pleased with them. But it could be because they were just backed up because it had been so hot. The contractors were awesome. But I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield because you can't get anybody on the phone. At one point, you could leave a message and ask them to call you back but they didn't call back.

I've been with Home Shield since February 2018. I got it when I purchased a house as part of the purchase. And then I had some issues almost when it was up and the contractors come out and handled it very well, so I continued to keep it. I always talked to the techs and they're fine with doing it through them. That's always my concern -- are the people being compensated enough by them? They all seemed fine with it. And I've had several issues, different things, water heater. Home Shield has been good.
However, I have some doubts about the previous air conditioner contractor. He charged me a ton for Freon. And then eight weeks later, I had to call again. And then A Johnson came out and did the same thing essentially. But he only used a couple of pounds of Freon and I paid for a lot more than two pounds on the prior guy. I'm not even sure that the thing will hold as much Freon as he charged me for. But it seemed like you get the same symptom, and one guy comes out after the first guy and puts in just a couple pounds.
The first time I paid over $500. Second time, I paid the $75 and then the tech came out. And then, they got a cap on the Freon because the Freon is outrageous. I paid 100 bucks for it. My understanding not being a tech guy is they did the same thing. You would think that Freon charges would be similar but they weren't.But I liked the way that the latest one, A Johnson, did things. The tech came out but the AC was frozen up. He came back in a couple of days when it wasn't because I didn't know not to leave it on. It took hours for it to unfreeze. So he had to reschedule it, but he did. And then, he came back and fixed it. He was very calm.

But it’s a Kenmore oven and I don’t know if they even make Kenmores anymore. So, that was really not American Home Shield’s fault. Once the part came in, the contractor came right out. He said that part was supposed to be there around Friday. He asked if it was okay if he came Sunday and he actually came out on Sunday. He fixed it and explained everything to my husband. He got it done and it’s working. He also had his mask on. We’re satisfied with the service we get from AHS.

I feel comfortable with American Home Shield. I haven't really used them but I have them because I'm the only one at home. I have to have somebody that can help me. I had a friend that had them, and she loved them. I didn't know anything about them and that's how I got them. They do well and everything with them has been great. They always will ask me if I have a question. The fees are good too. I only pay $60-something a month. When the air conditioner wouldn't come on, the contractor came out the very next day so that was wonderful. We had wind blowing, thunder, lightning and rain and my air conditioner went off. But all the contractor had to do was flip the switch and I had to pay the $75 for that visit. They handled the claim well. I just thought I shouldn't have been charged $75, but I know a house call is $75 so I can't complain.

I've had American Home Shield for about 18 years and I don’t use it several times but it’s worked for me. I’m satisfied. Express Appliance fixed our issue. The problem was the microwave didn't move. The dryer's belt was broken. They ordered the belt and came to put it. They fixed it.

The AC wasn't blowing cold so we called Home Shield and we were really impressed with the customer service. The rep I spoke with on the phone to schedule everything was really friendly and efficient. There wasn't like a long wait time and all that stuff that’s so frustrating. Also, they were really accommodating with scheduling. It was a really good experience. Aerify was here within an hour. It was awesome. It was the first time we used Home Shield and I like that we can just pay 75 bucks and be able to get something repaired if it's covered.

Appliance Tech came out a few times. They repaired our washer and dryer and then I had another time where they came out and repaired my dishwasher that wouldn't come on. I liked them so well, we had them have dinner with us a few times when I was cooking dinner. They go out of their way to accommodate and take care of the problem. When I submitted the claim, I called Home Shield, spoke to two people and they were very helpful and nice. I was told someone would be in contact with me and they’d make the appointment set up, which was very expedient. I'm extremely satisfied. They’re very good.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time and when submitting claims, usually, once you get through, it's easy. But if you call it in, you're on the phone forever. We had a plugged up sink in the guest bathroom. The first time the rep from Boss Plumbing came out, he put a snake through the sink in the bathroom but that didn't do anything. Three days later, he came back with a camera. He went to the kitchen and cut a hole. He ran the camera through the main water line and saw that it was plugged up in the main line. So, he ran the snake through it again and that unplugged it. But I still have that hole in the wall and somebody was supposed to come and fix it.

Our garbage disposal was leaking underneath the sink. It was very easy to file the claim on the website through AmericanHomeShield.com. It said somebody would contact me within 24 hours to let me know the date and the tech came out the very next day. He told us what he thought the issue was. He went back to get his tools and then came back and replaced it and then described it all over again. He was done within 10 minutes. It was great.

I did a claim with AHS to have someone come outside and look at my pool. I did it online and their website was pretty good. Then, I got a text message about when the contractor would be out. The guy from Expert Pools who came out was amazing. It was not just the professionalism that was outstanding, it was his knowledge and work ethic that really blew me out of the water. There was a leak and he fixed it. Then my filter wasn't filtering properly and he fixed that, too. He fixed the backbone of the issue in the pool and since the repair, my pool has been working really well. There's no leak and my water bill is not gonna be as high. I don't have to worry about algae and crap in the pool, which was a lot of work.
Other than that, I had a really bad experience with AHS last year, and I'm going to file a small business claim regarding that. AHS said they don't cover pest damage but the issue with my heater is not pest damage. It's the fact that it's worn out, but the wires and everything are fine. It's just that the combustion chambers inside are rotted away. They said that they found rat droppings, but all heaters are outside so there would be all kinds of crap there. I also got a different opinion from somebody else outside of American Home Shield. But if one of American Home Shield's contractors says it's pest damage, they blackball anybody else who's saying anything different. So, they misdiagnosed it and put me in a spot where I'd have to go out of pocket.
The problem is when the first guy came out, I didn't know diddly-squat about operating a pool. So when I called AHS back, they said it was more than 30 days or whatever the time period was. But they didn't tell me that. They just said that I couldn't challenge what they said after two months. So, I got their legal information and I just have to find a little bit of time to file my grievance. The pool heater's a $3,500 expense and I'm not pushing AHS to give me one, but they should be able to get the parts and do the things I need to get done. That's why I got home warranty. All in all, I renewed with AHS believing whatever they told me in the past had been correct, until I found out differently. So now, I'm having second thoughts about renewing with them again. But besides that issue, the contractors and everything else had been great.

My recent claim with AHS has something to do with my heating system but not the heater itself. It was leaking water. I submitted the claim over the phone to AHS. The technician went out and was able to fix it. It was a clogged hose, so he was able to unclog the hose. Everything worked out fine. The other claim was about the heating system. The thermostat was not coordinating with the heating system and the contractors fixed it. The reps at AHS have been very friendly and efficient.

Mr. Plumber got here quickly and I was very satisfied with the services. I had a pipe that was leaking from one of the toilets, another pipe that was dripping, and a drainage from a tub that was also leaking. They addressed all three issues. This has been the first claim that's been a great experience. The last time, it was very hard to get somebody on the phone. Calling American Home Shield, I've spent plenty lunch breaks on hold waiting to get somebody on the phone. But this go-around, I did do everything online and it seemed to work out a lot better.
I have been with American Home Shield going on 3 years now and I haven't been satisfied with the services. There are still outstanding issues to the point where I got tired of calling and the back-and-forth and left it alone. I had a plumbing issue with my steam boiler and I still have the same issue. When it came to what I signed up for, things kind of changed in terms of coverage. I signed up for American Home Shield thinking that if anything went wrong, I would be covered. That wasn't the case. There’s a max for this and exceptions to that. At the end, they were looking for me to come out of pocket almost 4 grand. It didn't sit right.

Myers Comfort came out for an AC claim and they did well. The technicians were on time and were very helpful. They were both very polite and worked hard in the sun in the hot weather. The upstairs unit wasn't cooling, and they fixed it Friday. Then, they came back today because the downstairs unit stopped cooling and they fixed it yesterday. Both air conditioners are working. They had to add Freon to both. We’ve been with American Home Shield for five years and I like that this last time was a quick response from the air conditioning people.

Because I'm working from home, I'm able to get things fixed. I have had a bunch of claims and everything's been wonderful with everybody. All of them have been prompt and every single one of them explained to me what the problem was and how I could avoid it. Some of it was the way I was using things so they shared with me a better way to maintain things. Everything's been awesome and that's why I like AHS. I had a plumber once from AHS a couple years ago and I did not like him. I haven't had him since, so I'm not going to lodge a complaint.
My most recent claim was yesterday and it was for a plumbing issue. Before that, it was a dryer and then before that, it was my range. My first one was for my bathroom outlet upstairs which wasn't working. They were all wired through my first floor bathroom so I went down to that bathroom. It was the outlets in the bathroom, and I reset it. It didn’t work so I called AHS. They sent an electrician out and he walked me through the connection and then he said I just needed a reset. He showed me how it all worked and then showed me the reset and said that I would have to get a tool to help me because I couldn't push it hard enough.
It was a really hard press and I couldn't have done it. I have arthritis and it was so difficult to push in to the outlet. The electrician pushed the reset and everything worked out. He was perfect and he gave me some extra service. He suggested how I might want to reset the outlet and everything was fine. My bathroom outlet is working now.

I had a clog in the toilet and in a kitchen sink, and Air Pro Master handled it beautifully. They came out and took care of it within a few minutes, and we're still good. One of American Home Shield's contractors is the same company that maintains my pool. I'm really pleased for the fact that I had a couple of issues with the swimming pool equipment and they allowed me to choose that one to service the pool also. I like that a lot.
Submitting a claim over the phone is torture but doing it online is easy as pie. I would like to be able to talk to somebody on the phone because every once in a while, there's an issue with the online claims as far as getting information. But usually it's so horrible. It's such a long wait to speak to somebody on the phone that I just let it go.

Gibson Air Conditioning and Heating had to come out several times. Gibson came out and worked on it each time. They were very polite and professional, and they came out as quickly as they could. They thought every time they had it fixed the AC, but then it went down again. It was four or five times they came out. I feel like it will break down again, but hopefully not. After they fixed the AC, I left it on when I went out of town because I thought, “You know what? I don't want the house to get too hot. I'll just leave it on.” But when I came home, the house was 99 degrees and things were melted inside the house. The AC didn't stay fixed. I stayed in the house that night. It got down to 96, but Gibson didn't come until the next day.
The other thing is the last time the AC broke down, it was hot and my son and his wife were here. He decided he would go to Lowe's and buy an air conditioning unit to put in by the room so he could sleep that night. I was on the phone for over two hours waiting for someone to pick up. Finally, after two hours, I was exhausted so I just said I would go to bed. I was shocked. My son went in the store, I said I would just wait in the car in case Home Shield got back on the phone. I was on the phone before we left. I was on the phone when we got back. I was on the phone while he hooked up that air conditioning and finally after two hours, I just gave up. That is not really acceptable. That's not excellent service if you can't even talk to anyone to get any kind of response in two hours.
Home Shield called me the next day. Somebody called me back with an accent that I could barely understand. I had another one before a long time ago when I first bought the house, but I don't remember them being that difficult to get ahold of. But Gibson was sent out here right away. I didn't mind the service that they gave, but it didn't resolve the thing the first, second or third time. If the AC does not maintain the temperature you put it at, then how is it really working properly? I don't understand. Because the tech said, “Oh, well. You may just be able to get down to 82.” Who wants to stay in their house at 82 degrees? That's not very acceptable either. And then I asked, “Well, if you can't get it to work, what happens? Do they try and get a new air conditioning in here or what?” He said, “Oh, no. I've never seen that happen.” So, I have to keep suffering it breaking down, and then they come out and fix it?
I'm over 70. It's bad for my health to lay in here at 90 some degrees. But I just sucked it up, and I was in a puddle of water when I woke up in the morning after a couple hours of sleep, but that's it. It's hard out here. We're in hot weather. So, to not have a functioning air conditioning is a problem. Who wants to go to a hotel during COVID? I don't have the disposable income to go get a hotel, besides paying Home Shield $100 for the contractor to come out, and I paid for something else. I gave the contractor another $160. Wow.

The claims process of AHS is very simple and so easy. Recently, I submitted a claim because the fuel tank was busted. The contractors came right on out and they looked at it and determined like, "This thing is busted, gotta replace it." So they fixed that. They went out in a matter of 30 to 45 minutes, found me a new tank with all new parts inside, brought it in and installed it in like record time. They did a real good job and I'm very pleased with the job they did. They got in and out, were respectful and clean, so I couldn't ask for anything more than that. You don't know what's coming and to have a warranty that is gonna help you take care of those things that you can't foresee, for the price, I would do it any time.

I have a GE refrigerator and the freezer wasn't working. So, I called American Home Shield and the earliest appointment was seven days out. I had a window of 8:00 to 12:00, and the GE repairman got here by 11:15. He was here for about an hour and discovered that the fan was not working and he replaced the fan and got everything back together again. So I was really satisfied.
The only thing that irked me was when I talked to an administrative staff to confirm the appointment. This was for Wednesday, and I called on Tuesday just to confirm, and she said the tech was gonna call me twice, and if I didn't pick up on the second time, he was going to cancel the call. I said that this is Bodega Bay, California, and I happen to be with AT&T, so my phone only works about 75% of the time, and 25%, I don't get called out here or it's a weak signal. I have to sometimes go outside or go onto an upper deck. So, I said that that wouldn't be fair. I would really be upset if he called twice, and because I didn't pick up the phone, he just decided not to come out because I could confirm with her on Tuesday that I'd definitely be here.
I don't think she really understood where I was coming from, especially since I've been waiting for a whole week to get this thing fixed. Seven days is a long time but I didn't care because it was the freezer. I just bought some dry ice and the freezer was good. But had I lost the refrigerator, that would have been a whole different ball game. A refrigerator is hard to live without. Other than that, the guy showed up and did a great job. He was fantastic. There were three things wrong with the pool equipment and because of COVID, I was able to go ahead and claim them all at one time. Home Shield sent out a company but I don't think they really looked at the issue. Then, ABNation was sent out for a second opinion and they did a very thorough job. They found the wires that had caught on fire or melted. But whoever reviewed their analysis was not themselves familiar with pool equipment and therefore denied this claim. I had to pay another $100 or so for them to come out and look at what they had already looked at but to just report on the wiring. This time, it was approved. When I called customer service, they told me I couldn't request ABNation to come out again but I went online and I was able to do that.
I wasn't happy with the administration of the whole thing but I was very happy with the final analysis and repair. Also, I really appreciate Home Shield covering it because it was not anything I could have controlled or maintained to prevent from happening. But I still don't know if I'm gonna stick with Home Shield when it comes up to renew. They've been challenging to work with compared to other recommendations I've gotten from community members on other warranty companies.

GE Appliances called me. I told the tech I was home. He just showed up and that was it. They did a good job. However, whoever replaced the part or fixes it, Home Shield said it was 30 or 90 days. But the next day, even with just five minutes, "Oh, you passed the warranty. You gotta get charged another $100." There's no leeway on it. And that was, "Sorry about that. You went past it." It happened twice to me since I had Home Shield. They need to have some leniency that if it was the same appliance, that means there's something wrong with it, right?
For example, your car breaks down because of something inside the carburetor. Then they say, "Oh, it's the fuel pump." Something's causing something to go diddle-daddle. So you either replace the engine or get a new car. You don't say, "We'll replace just the hoses this day. Okay, the hoses. The next time we'll do the belts." That's nickel and diming me to death and I don't like being treated like that. Except for that part, Home Shield has been doing me good. If I was in charge, I would run it a bit different.

The problem that I had was when I called American Home Shield to get my air conditioner fixed, they said somebody would contact us. This was on a Sunday when I filled out this deal online. A-US Air Conditioning called me Monday and said nobody could be here 'til the following Thursday. My air conditioner was running nonstop so I called American Home Shield back and asked was there anybody else that they could send that was faster than a week.
The gentleman that I've talked to was very nice. He said, "Absolutely. We'll set it up. I'll cancel this ticket and we'll get another one. You'll get a contact within 24 hours." That was Monday. I called back after 24 hours and got another lady. I told her nobody had contacted yet. She was very rude to me. She said I canceled the contract the previous day with with A-US. I said I didn't and they did it to get somebody sooner. Finally, she hooked me back up with A-US which is crazy. They were initially coming the following Monday and they couldn't come out. But when they called me back, they could come out Thursday. That lady kept saying it was my fault. This is the only issue that I've had so far with American Home Shield. I'm starting my third year with them and this was my second claim. The first one was plumbing and we were satisfied.

I'm not too happy right now with American Home Shield. My washing machine had issues with draining, so I put in a request to have it repaired. That was in June and a technician came out and serviced it. It worked for two weeks, and then it went out again, so I called. They put another call in for it to be repaired. A technician then came out, changed a part, and it worked for a minute, then it didn't work. I called again and the third technician came out. He changed three different things, including the drainage pump as well as the motherboard. There was a time lapse, ‘cause you have to wait for him to come out to determine what's wrong. He also has to order the part, which takes a week, then he has to find time to come out to install the part. Now we're talking almost a month.
Anyway, he changed all the parts that needed to be changed, but he also stripped one of the bolts in my machine. I know he took the head part loose ‘cause I saw it. Then I called American Home Shield and I told them that I love my machine. We were investing a lot of money in this machine and I didn't want to get another machine if this machine could be fixed. However, I've been almost a month and a half without a washing machine. The guy from American Home Shield told me it was a possibility that they would have to replace it ‘cause it couldn't be repaired, but he said he would see what the other options were. His other option was to send another technician to come out and look at it. I wasn't getting this.
If it’s breaking on two previous technicians, how is that person gonna fix this? Long story short, the guy came out yesterday from another company and looked at the machine. He asked me if the previous technician took it apart and I said yeah, because he changed something in the motherboard. I saw him getting the head part of it, the digital parts, loose to look at the part that was installed, but he couldn’t get it loose because that screw is now stripped. I asked him, “If you can’t get it loose, then who’s gonna take it loose to look at it to see if the repair was done or if that’s gonna make a difference?" His answer was he didn't know and that another technician was gonna come out. I don’t wanna see five people come into my house, especially during this time.
Evidently, they are very cautious. We're a distance apart and so forth, but I’m really getting aggravated at this point. Last time, I asked him what his conclusion was. He said he couldn't get it fixed, so his boss is saying maybe they should go and check the wiring on it. I want them to try to fix it, but if they don’t think that it’s fixable, they should just say my machine is broken. They should say that it’s done and they can’t repair it. I’m two months in now without a washing machine. Thank God I have a good girlfriend that I can go and do my laundry (‘cause I don’t wanna go to a laundromat), but that’s aggravating.

My clothes dryer was making a horrendous squealing sound. The Sears guy beat the window that was given by about an hour. He was really professional and did a great job. This is my first claim with American Home Shield and the process was way easier than I thought it would be. The only thing is I was looking around on the website, and I couldn't find where I could actually talk to a person if I needed to. I'm a little preferential to being able to speak to a human being if I need to.

I had a leak in my garage and 822 Plumbing came out and fixed it. Then, I had drywall folks come out and never came back. They scheduled but they didn't show up. I submitted the claim online and the website was good. It's just that we’ve had claims and AHS actually cancelled on us because we use the service too much. They were not gonna let us renew our contract so we went somewhere else. But we've had AHS for about 10 years now for our own protection for the home.

The water heater exploded and flooded the basement. I called in the claim to American Home Shield and I spoke to a representative. She had the gentlemen come on an emergency because there was water everywhere. I've been there 15 years and I had that same water heater. This the first time it ever did that where all the water came out. It was leaking over a period of time but I don't go into that space. And so, when the gentlemen came out to examine the water heater, it needed to be replaced. They put a new one in and set the old one out. Everything is functioning good so far.
The gentleman who came out were excellent and nice. When I put in a claim before, they were the same guys who came out to fix my toilet. They came on Saturday but with my work schedule, I can’t just take off work when I want to. I had to be there so they came back that Thursday. The experience with American Home Shield was excellent. I’m just wondering why I had to pay $500 and I called to inquire about it. They told me that they had to replace the water heater and those chrome piping. But overall, I was happy. I knew eventually that I was gonna have pay something. I just wish I coulda caught wind of it.

I purchased a home warranty with this company in Feb 2020. I had an issue with a dryer mid July 2020, They sent a service tech out a week after the dryer had issues just to tell me I needed a part to be ordered that would take 2 months. With that being noted a replacement was recommended by the tech. It has been 2 weeks since any correspondence with this company. I call and stay on hold for HOURS at a time, with 4 hrs being the longest. This is absolutely ridiculous. I will be canceling my subscription the moment I'm able to speak with a representative.

We have been with American Home Shield for over 12 years and until now the service has been great with both ahs and their service contractors. Our current service request has been ongoing since 30 June 2020 and the contractors have came out twice with the wrong parts. On the second visit, they disassembled my washer and have now went on vacation and the part has been in for 2-3days according to the ahs and FedEx websites. I have called 4 times during the month of July about the terrible service with the contractor and only to get apologies and and offer to reimburse me for $50.
We have paid our deductibles on time, our monthly payments on time for over 12 years, you wait for hours to reach a representative and if you have a major complaint and to speak to a supervisor or someone whom can actually make a critically important decision, is impossible which is why I am writing this complaint. I am tired of receiving apologies because they can't repair my broken appliance and when do they hold their contractors accountable and stop punishing their paying customers like myself. I don't feel like a valued customer and me and my wife are in the process of finding a more reliable warranty company that actually care and appreciate what their customers think. American Home shield, you dropped the ball on this family.

We have had trouble with our refrigerator since 02/14/2020. We’ve made multiple service request that did not solve the problem, and had to pay for each of them. It has gone like this: 1st repair company didn’t service our brand of refrigerator. 2nd repair “company” was an individual who said the coolant was leaking, put more coolant in without fixing the leak, and closed the service request as “complete”. Tried to get in touch with AHS after refrigerator failed again. They told us to reach out directly to the repairman who did not answer his phone. Called AHS multiple times and each time I was on hold for 45 minutes before they hung up on me without me ever speaking to a person. We made a new service request. The new repair company rescheduled and delayed multiple times just to come out to look at it. After they looked at it, they never got back to us. I called them, they said to talk to AHS.
I called AHS, they said to talk to the repair company. Again, multiple appointments were rescheduled and delayed. We’ve had a bad fridge for 4 months now. Finally we decided to buy a new fridge on our own because we don’t want to spend the rest of our lives with food going bad before we can utilize it. The new fridge was installed yesterday. I called today to cancel with the repair company that has been cancelling on us because we don’t need them anymore. AHS continues to keep me on hold and hang up on me, and there is no other way to contact them. I want them to cover part of the cost of the new fridge as they failed us on the repair of our fridge and caused the rotting of I don’t even know how much money worth of food over the past 4 months.

On July 3, I tried calling American Home Shield to cancel service but did not have time to wait over an our for a representative so I called contractor directly. My husband noticed the service charge of $125 on our account. On July 7 I tried calling American Home Shield again but it was another 1+ hour wait. My husband called and was spoke with a representative who said they would process the refund.
On July 14 I spoke with a representative with Lalaine (I believe that was her name). She told me no paperwork for refund was processed and she would take care of it. I received a message from American Home Shield stating paperwork for refund was processed on July 10. It takes 7-14 days for refund. Tuesday July 28 I received another message from Jan that she was reaching out because of my social media interaction. She had reprocessed the paperwork to have initial payment credited back and that not credit showed at this time and she was unable to confirm what was previously done. She is "keeping an eye on account" and will alert me when the transaction is processed. I don't believe this company deserves its reputation.

All The Time Plumbing did a good job. There was leaking on the sink and they fixed it. They did it in about an hour and a half. They have their boots and face shields on, too. I have American Home Shield on and off for the last 10 years. They're better than the other different companies. The only thing is American Home Shield should tell subcontractors to contact the customer early or give some kind of notice. I waited about four days before I got any call from them for scheduling. When I called American Home Shield for the leak, they said, "Someone will contact you." But I didn't get anything from the day I talked to the rep from American Home Shield to the day the contractor called me. Other than that, they're good.

Best Choice was fine. They were here when they said they were gonna be here. They made a quick and decisive diagnosis about the problem. They got all the necessary paperwork back to American Home Shield in a timely manner. I had been without an air conditioner for over a week. There was a technical issue with the compressor and it had some kind of freon leak so the unit had to be replaced. They stayed and worked here until probably 11:30 midnight to get that thing installed so I could get some air back in my house.
The problem I had was with American Home Shield. It took entirely too long for the process to go through. I live in Southeast Georgia and unfortunately, I've got my 80-something-year-old mother here in the house with me. All those days that I was without an air conditioner were all because of the process. Something should have been expedited. If it was the garbage disposal, fine, take a week, no big deal. But if I'm sitting in a house that's peaking at 90 degrees inside and I've got a 80-something-year-old person in the house, this claim kinda needs to move to the top of the pile. It shouldn't have took that long for them, number one, to approve it. Then after they approved it, it had to go to another department for them to issue the purchasing request to the warehouse where they get it from for that. There should be a 48 to 72-hour cap on it from bang to bullets for something like that.
The only other problem I had was I asked if I go lease a portable air conditioner so I could put it in the room where my my mother sleeps at to at least keep that room cool. American Home Shield said they don't reimburse for that. Other than that, they've been stellar. A neighbor across the street is about to probably get a contract with them now because I recommended them. I've been with American Home Shield for a while and it's my renewal that's coming up here later this month. I got an email about it and it should automatically renew.

They have good customer service and they’re as quick as possible to resolve issues and do them thoroughly. I believe in doing the job right the first time. With my personal experience, things have been great. American Home Shield made it easy to either do claims over the phone or online, to even set up for an appointment. American Home Shield also did a follow-up form with me. Recently, I had a leaky faucet for the hot water, and then the water was coming out, but I didn't know where it was coming out at. It was a lot every time I washed. When the guy from Legacy 4 came out, he fixed the leak and it was all tied into my washing machine. I had one of those splitters for my dishwasher and my washing machine and there was a hole in it. I'm not using my dishwasher anyway, so I told him to take the hose off the splitter and just let it go straight through.
When he took the hose out, he thought that solved the problem, but there weren't any tests done. My dishwasher and the washing machine were also sharing the same hole for the drain, so he thought that was it. After that, I still had water coming out every time I washed, so he came back out the next day, and that's when he saw something else was going on with the drain. The water was coming right back out. It wasn't draining and he had to use the snake. He fixed that and I had an awesome experience with them. They were right on point.

I had trouble with the garage door and after having made a claim, AHS gave me AAA Action Garage Doors. They were very kind and good. They fixed the problem. But the problem started again this past weekend. The garage door would come down and go partway then it would come down. All weekend, I had to leave it open because I couldn't close it and I was scared about that. My son then came and he fiddled around with the electric eye and he got it to work.
When the garage people called me Monday to say they were coming, I told them what happened and that I got the door working. The guy said he would keep the case open and if anything should happen, I could call them back. So far, so good. The garage door has been working although each day is like, "Are you gonna work today?"
Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service of AHS. They did not help me at all. I've read some of the reviews of people before me that have had AHS and they were very poor. Somebody reported the air conditioner and that was poor. You cannot reach them in any way on the phone and that's no way to run a business. I am put off for 45 minutes then they hang up. It's terrible. I don't think there's anybody there but they keep saying that there's a 45-minute wait. It took me about two weeks to finally get connected with them.
And even the computer, I couldn't get to work. I've been with AHS for about nine years and I didn't know that every renewal they give a new number. It's a different number every year. When I would use the computer, I put my account number in and it's the number that I had written down. They say I am not registered. That number didn't come up because now I had a new one. I’m up for renewal and I'm just thinking about what they are gonna do now to screw it up.

My water dispenser on my refrigerator wasn't working and the person came and fixed it. He showed up on Friday and he needed to order the part. He called me on Monday and he had the part, which I was very surprised with. I had a different maintenance company before and my experience with that company was they would send somebody out, they would look at it, order the part and it would take at least two weeks for them to get it and come back and fix it. So I was thinking that I was gonna have to go get ice because with the water dispenser was not working and the ice maker doesn't work. The guy called me on Monday afternoon and asked if it was okay for him to come right then. And he did. He replaced it and it's working great. So I'm very pleased with the service with American Home Shield. It wasn’t good that I had to have it repaired and that I had to pay the fee but it was a good first experience.
I had the technician look at a couple of other items but because there was nothing broken on them, he just said that they were working fine, which is good. I called back AHS though because I was concerned about the discrepancy in the name of the business. When I got the information from them, the name of the company was different from the company that came. I googled the phone number and another company name popped up. I addressed that with the repair tech because his shirt says the label of Appliance Tech, which is who American Home Shield told me was coming. But when I wanted to see reviews about them, it was another name.
I showed him and he said that he didn’t understand why that happened. The other company's name says that it was closed. I called American Home Shield back and asked which company was really coming because this was the one that they were telling me but they're not even listed and then their phone number that they listed for that company told us a different company. It also listed a residential house as the place of business. I have a business and I use my home as my base, and then I go out so people don't come to my house for my business. So, I understand that part but that was a little bit disconcerting because I wasn't sure if it was a legitimate company coming.
I called American Home Shield back and the guy said that we could add all these other appliances on too and I said okay. Then we added the washer and the dryer, and he kept asking if I wanted to add more things on. I said no but that was weird. Plus, the name of the business not being the same as the other company was kind of a red flag.

Then in March, we had a lot of rain. I was out of town. My sump pump totally went out and my whole basement flooded. That cost me $1,000. I really felt like that time, if the sump pump would have been replaced, fixed, or I was told I needed to replace it, then I could have hired somebody to do that. If they can get the people out to me, I have the money and I'm gonna go and pay it. I get a warranty with it too. The only thing I don't like is the claim with the air conditioner. They make you pay for the freon and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay so much money. That's a ripoff for people. It's like I'm paying them to do the job. One company made me pay 960 for freon then this last time, I had to turn around and get that same part.
I didn't want that other company to come back because I knew they did a horrible job, so I went through another company that American Home Shield referred me to. This time, I had to pay $540 for freon. That's crazy. What if they have older people who can't afford it? I had to even borrow money the first time. Other than that, when I call American Home Shield, they refer me to the people and it's an easy process. They send a technician right out and then if it's something that these companies can do, they fix you right on up. Their turnaround times are good too. They send their contract people out to you real quick and that's good on their behalf.

The air conditioning went out after a power surge or something we called Home Shield. Their representative set up an appointment with State Heating and Air Conditioning. The contractor contacted me and told us when the tech was coming out. Then, he came out here and did the job. Home Shield is getting expensive as far as the monthly bill now but I'm pretty much satisfied with them.

Overall, I like the cost of a service fee compared to paying for something right out of pocket for the full fee. Recently, our hot water heater went out. It was probably about five hours or so before a technician got here because it was 6 o'clock in the morning when I made the call. They were able to repair it the same day.

I had an issue with my water heater. AHS sent out High Priority Plumbing and the tech showed me how to light it back if it went off again. Then he turned it off and turned it back on several times before he left. However, it’s off again. So, I feel like he didn't solve the problem or figured why it was cutting off. And I was real hurt this morning when I learned that I had to pay another $75 to get somebody to come out again. I wouldn't mind if the tech located the problem and told me that it's going to keep cutting off, or that it was cutting off because of this and it was something internal in there. If he did that, I would be okay with paying another $75 for somebody to come back out. But he just turned it back on and said that it was probably not getting enough air through the door.

I had a plumbing issue with American Home Shield and everything went well on the claim. I had a leaky pipe underneath the cabinet in the kitchen. The guy from HCD Sewer and Drain who came out was a pretty nice guy. It didn't take long for him to come out, and he was early. So that was even better. He had a mask on. Me being Chatty Cathy and him being chatty David, we were talking so much. But it didn't take him long at all to resolve the issue. I was comfortable with him. I will use them again. I've used American Home Shield twice now, and it's been great both times.

My ice maker and vent hood were out. The guy from My Appliance Repair was very nice and helpful. My ice maker was fixed in a timely manner. They did submit a claim for the vent hood, which I have sitting in my living room, but the actual vent itself that goes out through the attic is not the same size so therefore we cannot put it in. That issue has not been resolved and it's been over a month since I submitted that claim. I contacted American Home Shield when the vent hood came in. They said they would get with the appliance company for some kind of adjustment to the form that they filled out. I called the appliance company and told them American Home Shield was gonna be contacting them for it. They said they do the vent hood change, but they don't do the actual vent. Also, whenever I contacted American Home Shield I got a foreign person that didn't understand what I was talking about.

There was water all through the closet and I put in my first service call. I called the water heater person as well as the AC person. The water heater guy said it was not him and the AC guy did what he could to try to deal with the problem. He came back again and replaced the blower motor. I was sitting at home all day Sunday and it was 80 degrees in the house blowing at 75. So, he came back out yesterday, added some more Freon, washed off the outside unit again and then told me that if it keeps leaking, he's gonna have to replace the evaporator coil.
The contractor eventually came and replaced the water heater here because it was leaking and that was the cause of all the water in the house. But it's Texas and it's 103 degrees out here right now and it's frustrating to wake up every single night sweating for three weeks because I started calling on the 15th. The AC unit is from the 90’s so the technician was trying to band-aid it the best he could. That was all that they were allowed to do. I'm a homeowner and I bought the warranty to insure this. I don't want to call five times and pay $75 every single time to get somebody out there just because this is what needs done. But I'll call AHS until they say that that can be done.

He determined that whoever made some changes to the piping, the pipes were incorrect. However, the contractor told me that the claim was denied because they didn't cover people's work that was done on something like that. Home Shield didn't let me know that the claim was denied. I had to find out from the company. I did not got any feedback from Home Shield. But other than that, it wasn't a long drawn out affair. I would still recommend them.

I had to close our door manually because it wasn't closing. The contractors that came replaced the sensors. It is an old door, so the spring needs lubrication. They took care of it and it has been working perfectly since I got the service. Submitting claims to AHS is not a problem because I can always do that via the internet. The difficulty is finding the time that they can come on my schedule usually, 'cause I have two jobs and I'm hardly ever home. My sister that lives with me is disabled, so she cannot attend to whoever is gonna come. So if a claim, if they wanna say next week, it may not work for me. It will be the following week or sometimes I had to put it off after three weeks when I have a day off. But the scheduling is pretty much my fault, not theirs.
After a certain number of requests on an item, AHS should consider replacing it. I had that for my washer and that one was four years ago. It took them forever to replace it, like almost five weeks. I had to go and get my laundry serviced at a public laundry place. Because first, the parts were not available 'cause it was an old part, and then they tried something else. I was very unhappy back then, but I just gave them another try. But, I had the same situation with my refrigerator. All my food went bad because my refrigerator was leaking water. This is my fourth call for a service and I had to take a day off yesterday for them to come in. I hope it works because today, it's not leaking. But how long is it gonna be until my next leak?
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

I have mixed feelings with Home Shield. Seems like every time I have something go wrong, I pay the $75 and then I'm told that they don't cover that. The first time that happened, a pool filter casing exploded and they said they don't cover that. And then, they tried to say it had more pressure than it should have been in it. I said, "Well, it was 25 years old. What do you expect?"
This past week, I had to call because the springs in my garage door popped loose. I couldn't close the door. The repair person said, "Oh, that's not covered. That's gonna be $495." I finally got ahold of someone today after calling every single day for eight weeks. I got the documents out to call Home Shield and verify if what I was told was true. They carry the garage door opener but not the garage door. They should be a more clear in exactly what parts are covered and what parts are not. I subsequently spoke to the salesperson at a Realtor meeting and she said, "Oh, yes, they should have covered that." My wife was dying of cancer and I couldn't be bothered to chase stuff down. That's why I kept the bill for the door.
With our dishwasher, it was supposed to be a good one that went out. I told Home Shield I wanted a stainless steel one and they said, "Well, we can't get you. We have to replace like-for-like," which is fine. They told me they would cash me out of the old one. I went to Home Depot and found the stainless steel one that was cheaper and just as good as the other one.

He was familiar with the area. Our place is hard to locate. He had a well-stocked truck, too. He’s very professional, he was able to diagnose the issue, fixed the system, and checked it all out. This guy really knew his stuff. He was in and out in about an hour, which was unusual for air conditioning. I was very pleased with it. Everything's fine. It’s a central air system. Everything was great when the contractors came out recently for our claim with AHS. The problem was a hole in the pipe from the kitchen and it was going down to the front door. The contractor was great. He explained it, did his job, didn't take long to do the job and was very helpful. The service of AHS is beautiful. We have another claim. We noticed the problem with our air conditioner on Saturday morning and we called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out on Monday. He had it working. But he also had said that it might be something going on with the motor. Sure enough, the next day, after we had the air running on Monday, Tuesday, we woke up and it was 80 something degrees in the house.
So far, I'm waiting for the contractor today to come because they gave the guy the wrong motor. He was beautiful too as far as explaining everything that was going on. They gave him a replacement motor that didn't fit yesterday and he tried his best to make it fit. He was wonderful. He explained everything to my husband. He's worked in the best that he knows how to help us out, so that's what I like.
I haven't had any problems with AHS. The only thing, it's very hard to get in contact with them. I had a problem with my wall unit as far as my oven and we picked the oven after they told us what was on stock. By the time that I got in contact with them, that was gone and we didn't cover that problem yet. The stovetop, we put our money out 'cause they couldn't find one. But as far as the wall unit, we can't because it's very expensive. They're saying that we have to put 2,000 on our own 'cause they don't have any in stock anymore. We haven't had any luck as far as the wall unit and that's been since May but the stovetop is here. But I've recommended AHS to my son. He has it now and his grandmother has it too. I was overwhelmed with everything that they cover. They also send people out here that know what they're doing. Their contractors that they had working for them so far were really nice personalities and helpful too.

My wife and I were gone away from home. We were working in South Carolina for 17 months. Then we came home and then that was when the toilet started acting up. When the contractors put the new one in, when we'd flush it, water would still come out onto the floor from underneath. So the contractor had to come back and put another wax ring in. He said sometimes, the way the floor is, they have to add an extra wax ring.
Submitting the claim was hard. I called the contractor first. They told me I had to call American Home Shield for them to come and fix it. After they got paid by me and by AHS, I shouldn't have to call them back and have AHS resubmit a claim to have them come back out a second time. That was a bad system right there. That was putting too many people involved in something that could have been fixed between me calling the contractor and him coming out. But the contractor that came was a great guy. Everything's also good with the toilet now.

I've had all kinds of problems with American Home Shield and I’ve thought about canceling the policy on a couple of accounts. I moved into my house about a month and a half ago and I had a plumbing problem. The toilet overflowed and it clogged up. I called up AHS and I said that at first it was the toilet. It was the valve. Then I called up because they were delayed in getting anyone out here and a friend had helped me diagnose it as the main drain. So, they were supposed to change that label from toilet to valve to drain. The contractor came and snaked it from the yard to the house, and it seemed like it fixed the problem. A week later, my house got flooded and ruined the carpeting in my bedroom. I had to tear it out as well as the mat and the padding, and throw it in the yard because it was so disgusting.
The guy came again and this time, he snaked it from the toilet to the yard. I thought it was good to go and he took off, except when he put the toilet back on, it was wobbling. But I didn't even call or deal with it because a day after I discovered that, it flooded again. So I was freaking at that point. I had to have a septic tank guy come out here and take a look at the situation. It was an expensive repair and it was not covered by the warranty. After the dust settled with the septic tank, at 4 o'clock in the morning I called up AHS because otherwise you're on hold for an hour. But I was still on hold for 45 minutes. Alicia, the rep, was very helpful and she managed to get the guy to come back to reset the toilet.
The first time I called and made the complaint, it took four hours. It was the Fourth of July weekend. It's always like a Friday at 5 o'clock, for some reason, when this stuff happens. Then, the second time I called, I had to acquiesce to the fact that I had to say that it wasn't a problem. I had to pay an extra service fee to get the guy out here at Friday at 5 o'clock, as opposed to fighting with them. I had the the plumber at my house and he said that he can't come over unless he gets paid. They haven't been paying him. I even have text messages from the plumber saying that he was not gonna come over unless he was guaranteed that he was gonna get paid.
I got on the phone with the insurance people and I had to change the claim in order to get him to show up. I had to pay the $84 so he would get paid and to get it rectified. So, the guy was here today and he looked at the toilet. He said it was broken, he couldn't fix it and it needs to be replaced. I'm assuming that it probably got broken when the guy took off the toilet to snake it the second or the third time he was here. For some reason, he didn't come back to do the repair and they had to pawn it off on that company today.
The guy who came out today was the one who came out on my first service call for my garbage disposal. He thought that AHS was gonna replace it. I said that I looked at the computer and they said that they resolved it. They said it was an existing condition and they voided me out, which was nonsense because it passed inspection. It was fine then. It just started to leak afterwards and AHS wrote it off as preexisting condition. I bought a garbage disposal and put it in myself. He brought it up today and I said that that was how AHS did me. So, I’m not very happy with that.
The guy took a look and took pictures. He called to see if he could show up a little early and that was fine. So, there were no issues. But I have great disdain for AHS. There is a market research that would prove that if they could turn me into a happy advocate, I would be their best customer for life. But as it is right now, I'm very dissatisfied.
Are you still in need of assistance?

The AC provider based in Springtown did a terrible job. They didn't want anything to do with us and they only gave a quote for a total replacement price that was over $7,000. They didn't attempt to fix it at all. The guy was on the phone for a long period of time. He was trying to figure out an excuse not to repair the unit and. It was obvious that he didn't know what he was doing. I would highly recommend that American Home Shield blackball them from any future service. They clearly didn't wanna have anything to do with it.
Our unit is old but I’ve changed the filters religiously on my end because of the fact that it's gonna be 106 here in Texas. But it was implicated that we had misused, abused and we didn't maintain the unit. So we turned around right away and ordered another maintenance call. I was on hold with customer service for almost an hour. I understand it's seasonal and everybody wants their air conditioning fixed, but they should be able to anticipate that.
We've been AHS customers for over 40 years and we've never had to lick the problem until this last go around. But on the second maintenance call, the guy from Air Technical had the unit up and running within 30 minutes. He also had to come back out and put in a solenoid, but there was no loss of Freon. It has been working fine ever since. This guy was very professional, quick and knowledgeable.
We sent in a letter to American Home Shield because I thought it was important to have something on file. The unit is 20 something years old and it’s probably gonna have more issues in the years to come. Those little vents were bent up a little bit but it was just cosmetic. We had one unit replaced a few years ago. Outside of our out of pocket for it, the unit has been working fine. But I'm a little apprehensive about our next claim for the other AC. I don't want American Home Shield to point out the fact that somebody has said that our equipment was not maintained properly because that was not the case.

This is my 2nd year with AHS. The first year they were very responsive and easy to work with. Some of the contractors that they worked with were just OK. But my overall experience with AHS was good. Into my 2nd year, I am so disappointed with the service. I need a new refrigerator and I cannot get a hold of the appliance purchasing department to tell me what my options are. I can get a hold of someone on the main line to tell me that they approved the new refrigerator but they tell me I have to work with the appliance purchasing department to discuss my options and ultimately get a new fridge.
One day, I waiting on hold on the phone for 4 hours and then it disconnected. I called back and waited another 3 hours. I am not kidding. I have done this now for almost a week and I cannot get anyone to pick up the phone. I have sent an email using their template. I have reached out on Facebook. Nothing. I called the contractor who told AHS that the part that was broken could not be replaced and that I needed a new fridge and he said that they are having a really hard time getting a hold of AHS as well. I will not be renewing next year. Your time is worth money. Who has hours to wait on the phone?

I began the claims process for a malfunctioning Washer, one month ago. The contractor came within the week and determined that the Washer had to be replaced- not repaired. He submitted the paperwork to AHS on the next business day. AHS never contacted me to initiate the replacement process- I had to contact them. I called 4 times, waited on hold 1+ hours. I still do not have my replacement Washer, at one month. When I call AHS now, I wait on hold 2+ hours and then their line disconnects the caller. Still no Washer. The shipping company (JB Hunt) says that AHS still has not even sent them my order- which once they receive it will take them 7-10 business days to Even contact me to schedule a delivery date.

My AC went out. AHS could not find contractor to come to my town. Weather was 102-107 at this time. AHS had me find my own contractor. Now won't reimburse me my out of pocket for unit replacement. Having to file claim with American Arbitration Association to recoup cost.
We do apologize for the inconvenience in regards to the a/c. We would be more than happy to assist in this resolution and provide assistance to you. My name is Robert and I will be more than happy to assist you further.

As per American Home Shield contract I made a request in June 2020 for a in home service request for my kitchen oven and refrigerator. AH Shield had sent an email to confirm appointment by Prudent Mechanical on July 8th 2020. But Prudent mechanical never called about the appointment or never showed up for the service. I tried to reach their help desk and all in vain. Today morning (July30, 2020) I received an email from American Home Shield to participate in the survey to compliment the service experience from Prudent Mechanical from Baltimore, MD. I had been trying to be in touch with American Home Shield from that day onwards and they never pick up the line or I had to be on the phone holding for more than an hour and got automatically disconnected. This is highly unethical according to the contract from American Home Shield.

We purchased a policy from this company early this year. We had a refrigerator problem May 20. Now July 29 still no refrigerator. Part was not available so they were to replace the refrigerator. Over 30 hours of documented phone time with this company you are spun off to a entering service in the Philippines that all they say is, "I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We understand. We understand," and do nothing to resolve your issues. They will switch you to the appliance department which never answers the phone. You can be on hold up to five hours and still no answer. Company is totally a joke. Buyers beware. Don’t believe me look them up on Facebook and look at all the unhappy customers there. Basically they take your money and run. Scam.
