Our air conditioning was leaking profusely and we were advised to turn it off before it shorted out everything in the system. We used the internet to ask for an appointment and American Home Shield sent me immediately who would be doing it, what day and the approximate time it would happen. They also recommended that I could call the company myself, so I did that. I spoke to a representative of the company and they said that if they can make it sooner, they would. Unfortunately, that weekend, they could not.
When Quality Air came out, they did all the right things. We're in a condo and they came in, evaluated everything, went on the roof, and looked at the compressor. They came to a unit that is in our apartment and went to where the piping takes the water away, and that was clogged. They showed me that and ran air through it and did whatever they do. They showed me how it was cleaned out and then, within an hour so, they had our air conditioning working fine and dandy. The issue was rectified and everything's been running fantastically since. So, I'm very comfortable now. In summary, American Home Shield has been excellent. We've been with them for as long as we've been here (almost five years), and they've come through every time.

My air conditioner backed up, so it wet my hardwood. When I called my insurance company, in order for me to have them replace it, come out and get it dry, I had to have a them come out to flush or blow it out. Then, they put the air pressure through it and blew it out. After, the guy said everything was okay. I asked them to also check the air conditioner out while he was here, but he said everything was okay after that. But it backed up and overflowed in the wall. And that way, it kind of leaked over my floors and everywhere.
I submitted a claim with AHS online and their website was great. I did it one night and the contractor, Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery, called me the next morning, which was perfect. I really didn't expect for them to get back with me that early the next morning, but they called me about 7:30 Central Time. They told me that they received my claim and that someone would be out around 4:00, but they came earlier. So that was great also. In the end, they were able to rectify my problem. All in all, AHS is a great company. When I signed up with them, I had been receiving emails for a while and they had a great discount at the time. They were also recommended to me by my daughter and my son. So I finally applied for it and it was really beneficial when I had a problem. Otherwise, I probably would've been out a lot.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Although we hope there are no issues in the future, we are here if you need us.

Water was running across my basement floor. I called American Home Shield and then C & R called me. They said they were on the way and when they were here, they did a fine job. I can keep the air on and it wouldn’t flood the basement anymore. American Home Shield is definitely worth the money. I've had to call them twice and I've been satisfied both times.

The coverage of American Home Shield is good as most of the time, we get somebody come and take a look at whatever is wrong at a very decent amount of time. Usually, it's not that late. Mostly the delays we have encountered are when the company has to order a part and the part doesn't come in on time. But other than that, we have never had issues.
We're pleased with American Home Shield. We had some issues with Green Bay Home Services. But this last one that came in, that company was really good. We really liked the technician and the way they dealt with everything. The first time they came in, they needed a part, so then they ordered the part and then came back. The same person came both times and we were pleased with the technician and the service. It's working perfectly now.

The air conditioning had gone out. We had smelled something out there that didn't smell right. We called AHS and then the contractor that came replaced something and the air conditioning has been working ever since. We were pleased. It was very quick. Everything went well.

The techs from AHS's contractor, DrainGO, were on time. We had some screws missing and they took care of it. They were fast and efficient. We switched home warranty companies when we bought our house last summer. Previously, we had a warranty company that had terrible contractors and they weren't remotely efficient. We were looking for people who were more professional than their contractors. Thus far, we have been very happy with the caliber of workers American Home Shield sends.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I called and said what the issue was. I got an email back that said, “This is what's happening. They should be in touch with you soon.” They gave a text. “Here's the phone number that you can call”. I proactively called. That’s great with me. As long as I have the needed information like the contact details of the business, that was perfect. That was the first call I've ever made using the warranty. But so far, it was very easy. Home Shield asked for the $75 payment right upfront. That's just easier because that way, I don't have to think about getting a bill and would there be some hidden costs associated with it. It was just the $75, paid it, person came, fixed it, done.
Prestige Plumbing Services did a great job. The tech communicated with me via text, and then we sorted out a date and time for him to come over that was convenient for me. He showed up, looked at the issue and talked to me about it. He showed me what he was doing while he did it, which I appreciated. He then went to his truck, got the parts that he needed and fixed that. He also talked to me about a couple questions I had regarding if there was any follow-up or anything else I need to do, filled out the paperwork, and he was done very quickly. He was very good. He didn't wanna use my towels because we were in my master bedroom. But he asked, “Can I have some paper towels, please miss?” Also, he had his mask. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer experience.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

I bought my house in 2001 and off and on, we've had American Home Shield for almost 20 years. We let it lapse for a little bit, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with them for the last 20 years. That's why I recommend my friends. I also referred my boyfriend because he's taking care of his mom's house. However, this is the first time that I recommended to somebody and they've had nothing but issues. Their air conditioner is still not working, and this has been since May. We have had people go out there three times and the AC works as soon as the technician's there. He turns it on really quick, but as soon as he leaves, it stops working.
When my boyfriend is trying to call back and every time he tries to get in to submit another claim, he can't get through. It's a long hold/wait to try to get ahold of somebody and then he gets on the list for a callback, and he doesn't get callbacks. He's busy at his work, so he can't be on the phone the whole time holding either. In my experience though, I've done everything online and it's been fine. When my dryer wasn't heating up anymore even though it was still working, AHS had Foster's Appliances come out. The gentleman who came over was awesome and it was nothing but a positive experience with him. The issue was the pilot light and he had the part with him and then he replaced that. Definitely would wanna use them again, but hopefully, I don’t have to.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

I've been an American Home Shield customer for the last three years and I don't see it ending any time soon. My daughter had another company and they are totally horrendous. Now, they're with American Home Shield. Recently, I had a claim for an air conditioner. It was the outside unit and the fan quit working. I was informed to expect the contractor to contact me within 24 hours and if I wanted, I could call them earlier, which I did, to get them out there sooner. Airtronics is a great company. The guy's very personal, very professional, so there are no issues with them. He fixed the problem right away and didn't have to wait for a part. He had the part on the truck.

Smith and Company came out for a condensation from the air conditioner into the basement. I called the claim in to American Home Shield. They said that I called at night, it was late, and they told me that the contractor would call me the following day. I waited until about 11:00, and when I called the contractor, I told him the situation, and they sent somebody out right away. They were good and professional. The repair helped because there's no more leaking water. It solved the problem. I've sent a couple of people to American Home Shield. I tell about them all the time to people I know.

I had been without an air conditioner for almost two weeks. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out who didn't fix the problem. So, I called them back and it was hard to get through to them. I'm 72 and I have lung problems so the heat really did me in. My granddaughter and daughter-in-law helped me a lot to get things done and get a hold of AHS.
They finally texted me that another contractor called TexAire was coming out. The tech who came out for that company thought he fixed my unit but he didn't. Come to find out, TexAire had to replace a coil in my house system. They also replaced something outside. They were super nice and informative. After all the rigmarole, we got things done with Home Shield. Since they've helped me and finally came through, I'm gonna keep them for a while.

I've been hit with about $300 worth of payments that I've made and the jobs are either incomplete or not at all. We had a leaky outside faucet and it was leaking quite a bit. I paid my $75 due to Home Shield, and Plumb Genius came out, and supposedly, the guy fixed it. It was pouring down rain, so I took him at his word and didn't think anything else about it. A few more days and the wife and I were outside and she said the thing was still leaking. In an hour's time, we could fill up a gallon bucket three times. I called Plumb Genius back and they said we needed to do Home Shield. I got ahold of Home Shield and they said they'd get them back out. Plumb Genius then called me on a Monday and said they couldn't come out until the following Monday.
I told them we were losing a lot of water and I had to get them then. They said that was the only thing they could do and if I wanted to, they could come out that day for $135. I told them I already paid money to them and the guy didn't fix it right, and they said there was nothing they could do. I called Home Shield and they said that was all that could be done at the moment other than waiting for my normal appointment. I then called Plumb Genius back and told them to come on out here and get it done. The guy then came out and I had to help him. In fact, I installed the faucet while he held the pipe inside. Then we had another service call for a drain in our master tub or/and shower that he performed after that half-**.
What happened was he had his little handheld snake that he put down the drain that was only good for 10, 15 feet. He never reached the main problem and I already paid $75 for this particular service call. He said he was gonna have to bring another snake out. He also said that if that didn't do it, then they would have to get up on my roof, but that was not covered under the warranty. That was $200-something as well. I said I understood that and it was if that had to come to it. He said if that didn't come to it, then they would have to do a camera down the drain. I said okay, so I thought I'd hear from him, but I didn't. By this time, I've noticed outside that the new faucet had not been screwed to the house. You can pull on it and it's still not attached, so that part was not finished.
I called Plumb Genius back and I said I needed to find out when they were going to get the drain taken care of. The lady said to let her talk to the technician because they had not had any information sent to them yet. I said okay. That was several days and I was surprised. She called me back and said they needed to go down my roof. I said we were not gonna do that. I told her that the technician said he was going to put a longer snake down the drain, but she said that was what he had on his report and it was gonna be $200-something for them to come out there. I've already paid money for them to come and do it and she insisted that it was gonna be $200-something. I said I was gonna contact Home Shield and when I did call, I complained to them.
They said they would call Plumb Genius. They called me back and said the report that they had and that the company was giving them was that they needed to go down the roof and that was what I was gonna have to pay. I was not giving that company another dime, so I called somebody else. Lo and behold, running a longer snake down the thing fixed the problem. I also told Home Shield I didn't want Plumb Genius in my house again then they told me if they had to send somebody else, I'd have to pay another service fee. I went down that road already and needless to say, once my contract is up, I will not be reinstating with them. I'm not happy at all.

We bought our house in April of 2019 but I had no idea that I had Home Shield. Nobody bothered to tell me. If I had known that, I would have used the warranty for all the things that my husband and I had to do to this house to get it in living order. My sprinkler system never worked and I didn't know that they could take care of that. I put in over $2,000 worth of work into my sprinkler system. The electrical in this house wasn't up to code. It was only when I got a bill in the mail telling me that if I still wanted the Home Shield, I needed to start making payments or pay it off that I found out I had them.
Home Shield sucks and I don't like them. When I put in a claim because my dishwasher didn't work, they assigned Clark's Good Housekeeping Appliance Service to do the work. I had called several days in a row to make an appointment and I never got a callback. They never made an appointment with me and never showed up. I got ahold of Home Shield again and they had Good Housekeeping come out and they finally fixed it. I set the claim up on the first of July and on the 30th of July, they finally came out and fixed it. Right now, everything is okay. If I rinse my dishes off, my dishwasher will actually work.

American Home Shield has been good and I would recommend them. I wish they had a little bit different service people though. I'm still waiting for my refrigerator to be repaired. I called the guy at S&G Repair. He put in a part and the part ended up being bad. He was supposed to order a new part and put it in, and I called them on it and I gave him the service number too. He has not called me back yet and this has been ongoing for four months now. On the other hand, it was quick when the guy from Turner Electrical and Lighting came out. It worked out really good too. Then he gave me a bunch of input on my bathroom and plumbing, just suggestions. Like, “Maybe you can look at this. This looks good.” He did a great job. The job was quick for him so he gave me some other tips like that. He answered all my questions and the experience was great. Everything works perfectly now. I was taking a shower this morning, so it works great. We got American Home Shield in November and we've made a few claims since we moved into our house and the experience has been great. The first time I submitted a service order was online, but this time, I called because I know sometimes it takes several days to get a response on an e-mail. It was really hot and someone on a rental home that we have had an air conditioning issue. I needed an immediate answer or I could get another company to come out to help. At this time, American Home Shield needs more operators because it was a long wait time. Apart from that, I was notified that I would receive an email or some kind of contact from them and they also said it may take up to two days.
It was our first time in Portland to be at 96 degrees and at first, it took forever to get ahold of Paragon Mechanical. It was difficult to get through and they weren't answering phone calls. It was not great, but I understand that there were a lot of people calling because everybody needed their air conditioner fixed. I take it they were completely overwhelmed. In the end, they got their stuff together. Even though it took a very long time, they managed to get out, get the work done and repair everything. Everything seems to be working now and staying functional as well. It's the middle of summer so our tenants needed to have the air conditioner fixed for their comfort and the repair helped.

Originally, Prime Plumbing came out because the faucet in my hallway bathroom was constantly leaking. When I did the claim, I put down two faucets. I did the hallway bathroom and the master’s bathroom as well. But when the tech came, he was only focused on the hallway one because at the time, the master’s one was not leaking that bad so it kinda slipped my mind. But right when he left, it started leaking. So he came back today to look at my bathroom and to figure out what the issue was and he said it's more something with my water pressure that's going on. He said the part that he needs to order is kinda hard to find, and with everything going on right now with COVID-19, he said things are kinda backed up. But he said he was definitely gonna keep me posted and if he finds one really soon, then he'll place the order for it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Home Shield. But with the whole COVID-19 thing going on, the workers should wear a mask.

There was something going on with the septic system. In the backyard, there were some areas where you can see water was pooling, and the septic lines run back there. So, we called Home Shield. It took about five days for the people to come out. When Discount Plumbing got out there, the guy was a moron and pretty much said, "Well, I'm not licensed to work on septic systems." He said he could lose his license if he touches a septic system. They didn't do anything. I just wasted 70 bucks.
The septic system is outside the home. I told Home Shield that when I first called. They called me back and said, "Oh, well, it doesn't cover things outside of the home anyway." I wish I had known that before I waited seven days before. I just called the septic system, and luckily, since it's a new house, it was covered under a warranty for the septic system itself. Had I waited five more days, I would have been out of warranty for my septic system and I would have been really pissed. But luckily, Home Shield came in within five days because it was built a year ago. Now, it's a year and however many days. When you tell Home Shield what's going on with the house when you call, the people should be more aware of what is on your policy and not.

The guy that came out for our claim was really nice. But he told me that the problem was actually the electrical and not anything to do with the dryer itself. He said that he tested the outlet and the outlet for the dryer was the problem. He was like, “You have to call an electrician for that.” We have an electrician that we've gone through for a while now. So he came over. He had bought the part. Then when he came over, he said it was not electrical, it was not the plug, but the problem was the dryer. He said that the dryer was getting power. He showed me the power in the dryer.
I was disappointed because I spent 80 for the guy to come out and then he told me it was electrical and then I spent 135 for my electrician guy to come out. Now I'm still left with no dryer. I was about to call the company this week to see if they can come back out again. It’s the first time something like this happened. Otherwise, the experience with AHS has been okay. We had the refrigerator replaced previously and it was hard to get ahold of people, but I know that everything was going down with COVID. One of my valves was loose and that allowed the Freon to leak. American Home Shield sent two contractors on two different days. The first appointment was not effective, while the second contractor was very helpful and he seemed to be more knowledgeable in terms of diagnosing the problem. He wore a mask as a precaution too. He tightened the valve, put some sort of sealant on it and installed a couple of pounds of the Freon refrigerant. He not only solved my problem, but he also did some preventative maintenance in terms of changing my filter and that kind of thing to overall service my unit. I thought it was great service.
I normally call American Home Shield and when I do, it's not easy to get someone to pick up the phone. I also feel like it's expensive. The cost of my home warranty has increased steadily for the last five years and I don't understand why. At some point, it's cost-prohibitive, paying the monthly fee versus how much I actually use the warranty plan. So I'm gonna have to make a decision if it's worth it moving forward. Another thing is the $75 service fee, which I think should be a sliding scale. If the job takes more than 30 minutes, maybe $75. If it takes five minutes to plug something in, then it should be $35 or something.

We're still having the issue. We didn't really feel comfortable so we ended up having to get a second opinion. The next people that are coming out is Fox. The guy at Fox said it could not be what Frog said. Fox is supposed to be out here some time Friday. Frog said because our AC is making a whistling sound it was the coils. But the funny thing is the guy never even opened up the system. If you don't open up the system, how are you supposed to know it’s the coils? We explained it to the guy from Fox and he said there's no way it could be the coils. The guy from Frog wanted to upgrade or something to do with code with the AC. We asked why we needed something updated or to code. It's a nine-year-old house and I don't think it's all that old. We got the impression that they were trying to rip us off and American Home Shield.
We haven't had any problem with American Home Shield because they did not argue when we explained to them what was going on. I was happy that they were willing to let us have a second opinion. They said they'd get us somebody else but if they agree that it's the same that Frog said, they'll charge us another $75 which is fine. That's only fair.
The guy whom we bought the house from went ahead and got a one year contract with American Home Shield and paid for it. We went ahead and kept up with it and we've had them for 2 years now. I tell my husband we need to make sure we keep them up to date so we'll be with them as for as long as I have a house. It’s all good. The only thing I cannot stand about American Home Shield is it’s too long of a wait. Every time you call them, it takes an hour to get through and it has always been like that. My husband hates even calling them.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently around the clock to manage the hold time better and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

But then my house has a ridiculous number of light switches so it’s not on them for picking the wrong one. But they tried to make sure all the switches were working and they couldn't get the light to work so they said they needed to request time to come back. No sooner do they pull out of our driveway, my husband went over to the light switch that wasn't working and flicked it and it worked.

They came to the house and check everything but they could not find the leak. My wife was there that day and the gentleman explained and showed everything to her. We haven't noticed anything else.
It wasn't the pipe because once you open the underneath, there would have been water on that board. But there was no water there on that surface. We had taken everything out and we put paper towels down there but there was no water there. The water was on the floor itself. It was like it came from behind the sink area drain on the floor. It never touched the inside where you'd keep your Comet and all your cleansers.
I took a plunger and started plunging. That was when the water showed up on the floor. But underneath the sink itself where the wood was, there was no water. It was all on the floor. You can see the garbage disposal and all the pipes. I immediately open that and filled up all around those things, to look for some water, but there's no water there which was strange. American Home Shield quickly got somebody that knew what they were doing and very professional.
I was very dissatisfied with American Home Shield when we put in another claim. We find gritty, grainy, and sandy stuff all over the counters and the floors every day. We changed the filters and we got to clean every day. But we would still get this grit and grime and it was coming out of the vents. We even sealed the doors 'cause it might be coming in through there, but it was still there. So we decided to call it in and American Home Shield hired some joke young man. He came out to the house and did all of his inspections. He then said that we were having a duct problem and that we needed ductwork up on our air ducts. He said that it needed some kind of a seal and it would take something and go in and clean our ducts, but his company didn't do that.
The technician recommended a company in San Antonio that does the Aeroseal. Then he said the only other option was to bypass the air conditioning system in this home and put in a new type of air conditioning without ducts. My wife got excited about this new system they got going. But I wanted them to get back with American Home Shield and let them know about this other company that would do the Aeroseal.
American Home Shield called to ask how was the work done. I told the lady that we were still getting the grit and grime. Then she said that the company hadn't sent in a report. So my wife got on the phone and called the technician and asked him to send his report into American Home Shield so they could see what he recommended. The technician said that he would send a report the next day. Well, I waited for two days and I got no call. I called American Home Shield again and I got the same young lady. She said that she didn't get anything. She put me on hold and called the technician again. She said that the tech would send the report by close of business that day and the young lady would call me back the next day. Well, that never came too.
A week passed by and I called the lady again and the technician still hadn't send the report. I told her that the technician was not gonna send it and they would not get anything from him. What he was trying to do was to get them to put in these new units that he installed in his home. He wanted somebody to pay for that and I didn't think that it was needed. But based on his recommendation, this issue needed this Aerosol thing from this other company. The lady kept believing him that he was gonna send the report since he was on contract with AHS. But the problem was the technician couldn't fix it. So I told her that this technician's company was outdated and they couldn't do what he claimed to be needed for this home.
The particles are not as heavy as they've used to be 'cause we keep changing these filters out. But the problem wasn't going away. We paid $75 but the technician didn't do anything. He was all hot air. I also told the lady from AHS that this technician would no longer be welcome on my property again. He's a liar and I don't trust him. She told me that I couldn't get a different person until I could get the report from this guy. I told that that they had been trying for three weeks to get this report and it wasn't gonna happen. They kept promising and telling me that they would call me back and that never happened.

My air conditioner stopped cooling. I had my thermostat set at 75, which is what I normally keep it set at, and the temperature in the house started rising to 82. So, I made a ticket for a claim with AHS and they sent Thermal Heat and Air out. It was hot that night because they wanted me to shut down the AC and leave it off overnight. But at least the tech came out the next day. He fixed the problem and it was something in the wiring on the compressor outside. He took care of it and within an hour he was gone. So I was satisfied.
I've also made service requests before and I've felt like AHS wants you to be able to specifically identify what the problem is with your appliance, but sometimes you can't do that. Also, sometimes the office person that calls on the contractor's behalf to schedule the appointment can be a bit rude for some reason. That phone call can turn you off because their customer service is not the greatest and all they're doing is scheduling the appointment with you. But when the technician gets here, it's like night and day. They’re great.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The AC unit inside was leaking water and it was a decent-sized pool of water. We had a water sensor on our floor that picked that up and alarmed. The claim was put through to AHS and then, we were assigned United Air Temp. They did a good job the first time in assessing but we couldn't duplicate the result. After we dried up the water, it didn't leak again the next day. So, they didn't have anything to base on to figure out where the leak was coming from. But they identified that we had a clogged filter so they replaced that with one that we had sitting there. We just did not replace it in time. That there was some backup could be an issue and so, that was causing some additional work that the AC was having to put out, with it being so hot, that they thought that was something that they could at least try.
A couple weeks later, we had the same issue, and the same company came out again. This time, they decided to see if there was a clogged drain. They said they were gonna cut the pipe where the water drains out of and clean it out, and they did. They said they found some debris and that might be enough to make it back up enough to leak. Ever since they did that, we haven't had an issue. So, they were very good at communicating what they were doing for us and acted quickly. They were very professional as well as respectful of the whole COVID situation. They didn't do anything that made us uncomfortable. So overall, it was a very good experience. We would welcome that company to be called out again.
It’s nice to have that protection and peace of mind that we know we can call American Home Shield. It's always a $75 service fee for someone to come out, which, on top of the premium, can be an additional cost, but you have to do it. It's a reasonable cost to have someone, for them to reach out to people and coordinate the visit. So, it's a convenience that is worth the price at the end of the day. We haven't had a situation where we had to fight them in terms of feeling like we need a thing replaced because supposedly, they pay for a replacement of something. Which is really why we have the insurance, in case there's a big cost that hopefully that they would absorb. We haven't been in a situation where we've had to replace any units or any appliances but for what we've had to deal with, it's been a positive experience for the most part.

AZ Remodeling & Plumbing came out for my garbage disposal the next day or the following day that I filed the claim. The guy was lovely. He was very polite. He had another disposal ready if I needed it but he was able to find something lodged in there which stopped it from working. Thankfully, everything is fixed. I did the claim online because last year, it was really difficult getting somebody on the phone with AHS. When I do, I don't know if they have it subcontracted to the call centers overseas but they didn't quite understand what I was saying. Maybe it was because they weren't aware but I was referring to my wine fridge and my extra faucet, the pot filler, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I asked if I could speak to somebody domestically and I couldn't get anything through. I am not happy with the call center. When I'm able to do an appointment online, it's fine, but calling is miserable.
Nevertheless, we just renewed with American Home Shield. I like having a warranty. I was with Service America for 20 years where it was always a Service America employee that came. Sometimes they were good, sometimes they weren't. Now, it's an adjustment dealing with independent companies which in a way I kinda like supporting small independent companies so I don't have a problem with it.

Our oven was not igniting. When the nice gentleman came out, our operation’s panel of the stove and oven shattered. It's like safety glass and it was all shattered and cracked, but everything still works. But we were afraid it was gonna fall apart. So I asked him if it was fixable and if they have any recourse on this. He said he would put in a claim and see what happens. It's no harm if he puts in a claim. If it gets approved, great. If it doesn't, that's fine too. We'll fix it on our own or have him come back and fix it and we'll pay him. He's a very nice guy.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. The last two contractors that came out for the oven and the microwave were very nice guys. They were very skilled. They were not dummies by any means. But we were waiting three or four weeks for parts. How come they don't have parts in stock? The microwave part was like some abstract part that took close to a month. But the guy had all CDC precautions, mask and social distancing. He squared away. But the other guy that came out three weeks later had no mask. We're being very careful with the COVID thing because we have a son-in-law that's fighting cancer. So that was a minor issue. We just stayed away and let him do his job and then deconed after. But overall, we were happy.
I almost cancelled American Home Shield before. But lo and behold, the hottest period of June of 2014 and my wife had just got laid off and then our air conditioner went out. I tried the claim with American Home Shield and I wrote them a check for 75 bucks. The contractor came out and replaced the capacitor very quickly. The tech had the part in his pocket and the air conditioning was back on. American Home Shield was awesome. After that, there were little things like the garage door spring went out. One of the best door companies in Reno was out here the next day and fixed it. We've had other issues with our garage and they've been out. I also bought the pool coverage and when the heater went out we got a new heater. I would recommend them. American Home Shield has been great for us.

He contacted me, then he came out, ordered the part, came back, fixed everything, and we’re good. He was very nice, very friendly, and very professional. Submitting claims to American Home Shield is faster and more efficient online. 15 minutes after I get into their system, it would tell me my technician and that they would be in contact with me. The system would give me the tech's phone number and contact information as well. AHS's process is a lot smoother than that of a previous company we had five years ago. Most recently, RJ Garage Door Service came for my claim and everything went great. The technician was wonderful and he had a mask and gloves. After the repair, I found out there was an additional problem and that we needed new springs. We got those springs and though I had to call back, that wasn't RJ's fault. The tech did well.

American Home Shield's service used to be really good. Now, they are letting people go because of the pandemic. I don't hear my doorbell well and they always send me an email so I can read from my computer that my technician is on his way. I called three times and sat on hold forever. Three times their rep told me that they would send me the email but they never did. So, I sat from 6:00 am to 8:00 am with no TV just so I could hear the doorbell.
Before, when I called Home Shield for our garage door. As soon as I called, AHS took my $75. I got an email saying who is gonna come out for my issue and an hour later, the contractor would call to set up an appointment. We called AHS for a third time then since our garage door still wasn't fixed. Home Shield then sent somebody out who fixed our issue.
Another time, one of AHS's contractors fixed our broken kitchen faucet. While the tech was alright, he put the cold water opposite where it should be. Now, I have to all the way over to the right to get hot water. Plus, the water doesn't get really hot. More recently our ice maker broke. The tech from the contractor sent by AHS, Vector Appliances, was very professional. He came at 8 o'clock, on the dot, and left about 28 minutes later. He explained everything and he was very nice.

She also told me that my AC should be ready to go.
I also have an oven claim with Home Shield and that still hasn't been fixed. They say they can't get parts because of COVID. They also said that they were gonna give me money to replace what I had. But then, for the amount of money they want to replace my oven for, nothing available is as good as the one I had. Plus, what I used to have matched all my other appliances. Before I got online and contact AHS through their social media accounts, they were very hard to talk to. When I did that, they started calling me back.

My garage door quit working with all the remotes and the guy from Ace's had to come out to replace the control board and the garage door opener. I notified American Home Shield through their website that there was an issue. The website works fine. I got notified when the service was assigned and got called the next business day from the contractor. He told me the appointment on when he would be here. He was quick and efficient. He fixed it the first time, had the part, and he threw it in and everything works. The repair lets my garage door go up and down with a button. I don't have to get out in the rain, go to the front door, and open my garage door. We've had American Home Shield for years. We tried to switch to somebody else at one point and they were cheaper, but they were terrible. So I came right back to American Home Shield.

American Home Shield sent their contractor, Comfort Pro Heating & Cooling for our AC issue. They were very nice and professional. However, I wasn't satisfied with their appointment timing. We had days when we had temperatures of 103, 104 and 105. What if our AC was completely out? We were gonna have to wait a whole week until Comfort Pro could come. When I call, it's because I want something fixed right away.
Last year, I was with Fidelity Home Warranty and I didn't like them. I was referred by somebody to American Home Shield. I'm hoping I can stay with AHS but if they get vendors who book far out, then I'm gonna go with somebody else once my contract expires. I was the one contacting the girl from Comfort Pro and I shouldn't have to be making those calls myself. With Fidelity, I could call them and they had 24 to 48 hours to have somebody at my place fixing whatever I needed done. Still, American Home Shield did their part. The issue was with the company that gave me an appointment a week later.

Haskins Heating and Air Conditioning did a good job with my claim for my AC unit that wasn't cooling. They added Freon. American Home Shield used to be good. But then, it was wrong. Plus, their website sucks. I got a pending claim with them and I cannot contact them. I can't find a link. I can't go to a link where I can send an email or call an individual for my claim on my ice maker either. I got tired of calling and staying on hold for two hours and just hung up. The dishwasher wouldn't drain and it didn't take long for the tech that AHS sent out to figure that out. He had to order a new part for that then he got back quicker than I expected with the part. Apparently, where he had to order it from had it in stock. Then, he got it fixed and the repair took less than an hour. He got my dishwasher running again and it works well so far. We're really happy with the repair. And I really like him. He was really nice and friendly. He also explained what was going on and took care of business. We had a claim on our refrigerator freezer, too. The freezer would not defrost and the guy who came out fixed that. What happened was, the drain pan or something clogged, and he declogged everything. We haven't had any problems with it since.
But when I first got AHS, they had a rate and they bumped the rate up the next year but didn't even notify me that the rate was going up $14 a month. So that didn't make me very happy. I would have liked to known that my rate was going up $14 a month. If they would have told me that, I might have told them that we could negotiate or I might drop them. But it worked out this time for us to still have them. Other than that, the people they've had come out and done the work have done a good job. When they assign somebody, I look them up and see what other people have said on Google and what have you. In fact, a couple of them rated them lower, but when the people came out, I didn't have any problems and I've been happy with their work.

I could also talk to a live person which is always nice. I don't worry if something breaks now.
I had an issue where the guy came to do the dishwasher and it wasn't fixed. They came back and they fixed it. We’d heard great things about AHS. It has been almost a month since submitting a service request and we are still unsure of the status. We have been assigned three different contractors (The first two after I had spent time on hold trying to figure out what was going on since it had been days since calling). The first never called back, the second called back and did a service call but found out by calling AHS to check on status that they canceled. This was never communicated at all. We were assigned a third contractor who was great, diagnosed the problem and told us what his next steps were... but we have still not received any updates from AHS about next steps. If this is quick and easy service as promoted on their website, it’s a rather slow and difficult interpretation of those words.

I asked to have email communication since it was so hard to reach anybody, and they could not accommodate me. To reach the purchasing department has a minimum of 2-4 hours of being on hold without being given an option to have a call back when someone is available. Impractical, unaccommodating, and very poor customer service. Total waste of time and money.

Such a HORRIBLE experience with the technician AHS sent out (3 times) (first call 5/31/20, next 2 weeks later and then 2-3 days later). No A/C for over a month! Their tech told us one story but told AHS another. The tech that they sent to us told us the 1st time that our unit needed to be replaced but that AHS would never replace it - only continue ordering parts for it. The tech even sent us a text telling us how much it would cost for us to purchase a unit through him. Tech told us we had Freon leak. He said he put freon in it (which we paid over $400 for) and a dye in it to see where the leak was.
Two weeks later it stopped working again, put another call in and they sent the same tech out. This time it was the capacitor that needed to be replaced. My question to the tech was "why did you not check the entire system when you were here before because you said we needed a new one." I said, "If you go to the dr. for a tummy ache, the doctor will run different test to find out all the different things that could be causing this." The tech would only say "this is different problem" but how does he know that because he didn't check the entire unit the first time.
The unit stopped AGAIN within 2-3 days, I put in ANOTHER service request and the same tech was hired to come. He came the next week and said the coils are bad, need replace and that he would place an order with Carrier. Oh, I forgot to mention that on his FIRST visit he told us our coils were rusted and in bad shape and needed to be replaced but did not do anything about it.
For the next almost three weeks, we kept checking with the tech on the status of the coils. My husband finally asked him for the part number because he was going to try and find them himself. The temps were high 90's to over 100 degrees and I had my 80 year old mother here for one of those weeks. The tech sent my husband a text saying he was going to ask to be taken off this call and maybe another company would be able to get the coils.
Kind of fishy that he sent that AFTER my husband asked what the part number was. I called AHS four hours later (waited on hold over an hour) to ask when another company would be put on the call because the house was miserable, they said they would assign someone, they did and said to call and set up a time for them to come look at the unit. I called the new company only to be told that "we told AHS that we are swamped and cannot take that call."
Another hour+ on hold for me to talk to AHS and let them know what the new company told me that they hired. After being on the phone for almost 2 hours total, AHS said we could hire someone to fix it but needed to have the new company call them, tell them what needed to be done and get prior authorization (which we did). The new company was on hold for again another hour (technicians should have a different number to call - but I was given a specific number for the tech to call but still over an hour on hold) - which is not good considering they are extremely busy.
They were given the authorization number to complete the work - which he did. He also let us know that he knows the other tech told us he put dye in but there was no dye in our system. He also said that if he had to replace the coils, which he did not - he cleaned them up, it would take about 3 days to get them in so he did not know why it was taking so long for the other company to get them.
We were told to submit the bill/receipt to them and they would reimburse us for what we paid. We did that on 7/29/20 and STILL HAVE NOT been reimbursed. I have called and asked to speak with a supervisor to discuss this entire mess but they are always busy and will "call you back." No call to date and when I look at the status of the service call, it says "authorization under review."
I have only ever filed one other service call on something other than our HVAC, it was our refrigerator, and that service call was so smooth. I do NOT understand why this one has been a complete nightmare. Just reimburse us for what we had to pay. I do NOT feel we should have to pay AGAIN or freon that leaked out in less than 2 weeks and we should not have to wait this long to be reimbursed.

No matter what day or time it's the same thing. 2 hour wait. When I signed up with AHS they said they strive to make my life easier. Waiting 2 hours or longer for customer service is not making my life easier. I needed to talk to customer service about the vendor AHS selected for me, the vendor diagnosed my problem over the phone. Did not come to my home, in addition he said he was going to have to charge me $190. I told him I had to talk with AHS first.
I finally got through customer service. She said she was going to send second vendor to my home for a second opinion. As of yet this has not occurred. AHS what about follow up email to make sure my problem was resolved to my satisfaction???? That also has not occurred. I am very disappointed and regret purchasing AHS home warranty. Two separate technicians and weeks later, the system was still not cooling and the last technician left the old compressor and debris on the roof of my condo building which will result in a fine from the HOA to take care of the debris etc. The technician lied and said the job was complete to AHS when he knew he had not filled the system with enough refrigerant nor had he taken away the old compressor, debris or strapped down the unit as required by hurricane standards in Florida. The company is not returning my calls or answering my emails. I hired another company today at my own additional cost and they have added the refrigerant, strapped down the unit, BUT the company AHS hired still needs to return and remove the old compressor and related debris or a fine will be incurred from the HOA.
I am totally frustrated with AHS and the technicians they hire for AC work. The first company/tech they hired never came back nor responded to calls. The 2nd company replaced the compressor only (although the whole unit really needed replacing due to corrosion, but AHS won't allow that to be done), but did not have enough refrigerant with them to get the AC to cool. It is now 8/11/20 and this last company, South Florida Crane and Cooling are not responding and have not picked up the old compressor etc from the roof. Also, be aware AHS will add additional charge of $50/lb of refrigerant that you have to pay directly to the technician. That cost me $750 for refrigerant and the job was never completed!!!! You can swelter for a month in your home waiting for them to get the work done and then they still can't do the job correctly.

Update-They finally getting someone else to come out and take a look at my a/c unit, I am happy that it is fixed now and no more leaking is going on. I really recommend the company that came out, he was very thorough and explained everything and checked every single detail to my unit. I had to fix the duct issue myself because I was tired of waiting but the leak under the unit was actually more important to me because it was causing damages to the house itself. Thank you for finally understanding my needs and getting someone else to come take a look at it and give me their opinion.

I have been dealing with AHS now for almost a year, the first time I call because there is an issue with my a/c. They send someone out to "Fix" the issue. It was not fixed and now they messed up my a/c in the whole house and now half the house is not blowing air, well they won't pay for it because "It's not normal wear and tear". Well no, it's a brand new duct! The person they sent out blew water down and it went into the duct and cause it to collapse and therefore no air is blowing, I'm so fed up and frustrated, I have small children and one of their room is being affected by the no air, they tell me they will call me back to check the options I have but this was yesterday and today and still no word... Again!
I am at my wit's end and dont know what else to do! I just need my a/c fixed which by the way, the initial issue I was having which was the water leaking under the a/c unit is still there! So they charged me the fee for a technician to come out and fix it yet it didnt get fixed! This is turning into a legal matter now and I'm ready to take that step because in no way will I pay 600$ for something that was not my fault or problem to begin with! The initial problem was my leaking water under the a/c unit!!! So mad!!!

I am still without air conditioning in my home after first calling American Home Shield on July 22, 2020. The first company AHS sent said they do not work on my type of "Apollo air conditioning unit" with AHS any longer. They ended their agreement with them because according to the tech, AHS would not pay them the proper amount for the parts they serviced. Then AHS sent another company, ATR services who have been out to my home two times and my system is still not working. During these past 21 days, I've called American Home Shield over 20 times and been on hold for 1+ hours then hung up on. I've asked to speak with a manager numerous times and then placed on hold and then disconnected.
I have been a customer with American Home Shield for over 12 years and will end this horrible contract once I hopefully get my air conditioning repaired by them. I will also add that the companies they've sent have now charged me $760 for Freon and removal of a compressor that they ended up not installing. ATR said at first I needed a new compressor, when they came back yesterday he said I did not need it. He flushed my Freon once again and still not working. Do not waste your time or sanity on this horrible company.

We bought this house and our Realtor recommended that we had Home Shield. We went with that and we were so thankful because our oven went out shortly after we moved in. Come to find out, it was a wiring problem with the harness from probably when they installed it years ago. But the oven looked like no one had ever used it. We talked to the previous owners and they said that they didn't bake, but they grilled a lot with it. That was a surprise to us, so that went out. It was just that the submitted claim was for the microwave oven and not the oven and I didn't know if the girl was irritable or the person on the Sears side. The contractor called my husband at the time and he was saying that he is working on microwave ovens which was totally different. We also had an issue with the washer where the pump didn't work then Tactical came and fixed that. They were also super fast and very easy kind of fix.
With our recent claim, the dryer went out and it was on a weekend. I initially tried to submit it online and it said pick a date. The soonest the contractor could come out was a week later. I ended up submitting it but I said that none of those dates would work for me. The next day, I got a phone call from AHS and they told me that they could get somebody out the following day. Tactical Appliance came out right away. They looked at the dryer and said it was the circuit board in the control panel. They looked into it and told me they couldn't get it anymore but they would submit it to American Home Shield because a lot of times, AHS could find it because they have access.
It went into the whole next week where I didn't hear from anybody. Friday, I called AHS and asked what's the deal because we were heading into the weekend and I've gone a whole week without a dryer. The rep said that it's still being reviewed by AHS so I'll have to wait until Monday. By Monday, I still didn't hear from anybody. It was like two weeks I was without my dryer. When I found out AHS was getting the part, they were awesome. The contractor called and said that they got the part and they would come to install it. They did that and it was great. The guy was very nice, professional, and he wore a mask when he came in.
The only feedback I would have with AHS is just a little bit more communication, even if it's through an email like, "Hey, we are looking at your claim and you haven't been forgotten." But we love them and we're 100% satisfied. Every time I have a problem, I can look it up online. The online portal was easy to use too. My sister and her family have it. We recommend it to everybody we talk to.

I would recommend Upland Pool Supply. I'd like to request them every single time. They were excellent. They got good communication, they showed up on time and explained what was wrong and what they needed to do to fix it. They had really good follow through with everything. I helped coordinate the time and what they needed to do in the time that they were gonna arrive, and everything was right on point. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy. I did it online and then a text message was sent with who the provider was going to be and their contact info. The process was really good considering the COVID situation we're in. Everything went really well.

I filled out a request online on a weekend and I got an email to let me know the contractor was coming. We had a pipe that was leaking and when Aaron's Plumbing came, they let me know exactly what was going on. They were very professional and informative. The repair was a huge help as well. If you have a pipe that's dripping, not only are you trying to catch the water, but it also limits what you can use water-wise. The pipe was connected to a downstairs bathroom and we avoided using that whole area.

The AC was blowing down warm air and I had it set on 75 but it kept on going up to 90. When I contacted American Home Shield, the contractor came and checked it. One of the guys was here for five hours the first time but he didn't fix anything. He was trying to sell me a new AC unit. He said I needed to get a new AC because everything was falling apart. I said that I’ve had American Home Shield for the past 10 years since I purchased this house so, I don't need to go buy any AC. This was running fine and this is because of the heat. He said that the best we could do is put Freon. He put Freon and nothing works. The next day, it was the same issue and it took three weeks.
My mom is 86 years old and because of COVID, couldn't go anywhere else and we were inside the house with this heat. My house was at 100 and it was the worst experience. I didn't like the first guy. He wasn't writing anything on that invoice for AHS to know. I told him from day one that twice a year, people come and does all the maintenance on my air conditioner. I showed the invoice and said that it was probably what was causing the issue and it needed to be fixed. But he wasn't paying that much attention on that thing. Something big was happening that broke. AHS sent Kyle, a different guy. He was very knowledgeable. The minute he saw everything, he knew exactly what was wrong. He contacted the manager right away because the first guy charged me for Freon and it had nothing to do with it. I paid $100 something, which was a waste of my money.
The manager was good and he was on the phone constantly trying to follow up. The other technician who came in fixed everything. The first technician didn’t get to the actual problem to get it fixed. If he got to that problem from the get-go, I wouldn’t have been without AC for two weeks. It’s hot here in Arizona and it's not even livable. Even the other guy who came asked how I could come here. I said that I work from home because of COVID and I don't have any place else to go.
Every time I called AHS, I was on hold for two hours. Sometimes they would tell you to put your phone number and then, they would call you back, which was great and they did that. But sometimes, they wouldn't give me that message and I would be on hold for two hours. Then, I would be on the phone and talk to them and they would say that they did this, that they were rushing it and that I should have it by that date. They even told me that I could get somebody else to fix it and they would reimburse me. The lady told me that she was gonna email all the information to me. I didn't want somebody to come because I didn't know anybody, which was why I have American Home Shield to trust that they would send somebody. But I was at the point that I needed somebody to fix the AC. They never did. I called back and I was on hold for two hours. Then somebody would say hello and hang up the phone.
I even had some other company to find the part. They said they were gonna get it for me by Monday. I said that I needed it this weekend. American Home Shield told me they were getting it for me by Monday. The other company asked if I was sure because a lot of people complain that AHS says one thing and they don’t do that. And it never happened. I've been with American Home Shield for a very long time. I've been wanting sometimes to change it because I get so frustrated with them.
On Monday, I called the company and they said they didn't have anything. They fixed the AC but it took a very long time and that's the frustrating part to make you leave American Home Shield and go someplace else. When it comes to these kinds of situation, if something like a disposable breaks and it takes them two weeks, it's okay. But with heat, you're dealing with health issues where there are so many things going on right now. If there was a hotel, it’s okay but because of safety, we can’t leave the house, especially my mom.
I've referred AHS to all my family and friends before that. I have rental properties and everything is with AHS because I've always heard good things about it. I always went straight to them. For that incident, I was dissatisfied but overall, I was very okay that AHS took care of it and fixed it. But I want them to be honest, truthful and not run around the circle and to get rid of the customers. They should tell me the truth that it’s gonna take long time and see if I can find some other company, and then they will reimburse me. When they tell me that they’re gonna email me the information, then send it to me. They should not lie to me to get me off the phone.

I had to go outside of my warranty to get somebody to do the work or I would have had flooding. I ended up having to replace the sump pump and the backup as well. It was going to be several days before Budget A/C Heating and Plumbing could get to repair my issue and it wasn't going to work out, so I cancelled the order. The problem was this all happened right before I left town and we couldn't leave without the issue being fixed. We had torrential rains, in fact, while we were gone.
Overall, the service I got from American Home Shield was fine. It's just that they didn't go looking to find somebody that could get to the issue in time. Another thing is you wait forever on a phone call to get ahold of somebody and I have a problem with that. A lot of times, when you have an issue in your home, you need something right away. It's not something you can wait on, like something you want to have checked out and looked at. It's usually an emergency. I don't have a need to renew it at this time and I don't think I'm going to renew it after. I'm not seeing the benefit of doing it.

I submitted a claim for my AC with American Home Shield on a Sunday night. The contractor, Cote’s Mechanical, called me on Monday and they said they would be out Monday. They did. They estimated and they were coming back. The guys came back Tuesday and said it was gonna cost me $770 for the compressor and for the Freon. But the way I understood it, the warranty was supposed to pay for everything. I said fine though and to go ahead. Also, the first time Cote’s Mechanical came out, a little hole was made so they had to come back out the next weekend to fix it.
I went to a motel on Sunday night and I didn't get back in my trailer until the following Sunday. It cost me almost $1,100 for the motel and food and I wasn’t very happy. We were without air for Friday night and I called on that Friday. They made Cote's come back out on Saturday as a rework. They were very prompt on that. They were out there by 12:30 on Saturday and they had my AC up running. I'm happy with that. But the way I understand it is American Home Shield didn't submit my compressor until the following Monday at seven o'clock PM to be gotten. I didn’t get the compressor until the next following Friday. But the unit is working fine now. Cote’s was very nice and I couldn't ask for a better service. They worked with their mask on but they couldn’t wear gloves because they had to solder pipes.

We bought this property and we just took possession from the previous owner. I went on the website of American Home Shield and put in the job request for a rekey. It was pretty easy to use. I also tried calling on the phone because, initially, I had trouble logging into the website. Something didn't go right with my account set-up when the property closed and they had it on file, but they didn't have an email address. But once I eventually got through to where I could leave a message and have somebody call me back, they got the website stuff set up and it was super easy to use after that. Then, I got a confirmation that my claim was assigned and I had a time window. It happened much quicker than I thought it would and when the tech from Reality Rekey came out, he rekeyed two deadbolts and two handle locks. He was good, very responsive, and very quick. I would recommend him to somebody else too, or if I had other work in the future.

Recently, the garage door button kept clicking. The light would click on and off, and it wouldn't let me open or close the garage door. I was given expectation as to when the contractor would reach out to me. They told me that over the phone and via email. And then, the contractor, Garage Door Experts, called the next day. The tech came, explained what was going on with the garage door, and fixed it. He was very professional.
I've only had two bad experiences with Home Shield. With my air, I got the runaround because I used a private company. And then, I spoke with multiple people there and they told me different things. That confused me when it came to trying to get my payment, then trying to see what was actually covered by Home Shield and what I would have to pay out of pocket for. That was the only one directly with them.
The other one was with the actual company that they sent out. The people that came for the air were horrible. The tech came out and spent 10 minutes and said, "Oh, all you have to do is pour the water out of your attic and we'll send you information." And then, I had someone privately come in and look at it and said that the tech didn't do anything. Home Shield had to send somebody else out and the guy that came out told me everything. It was a waste of a visit and me taking off work for something that I didn't have to take off work for. I know this because I know somebody who works with insurance companies, with Home Shield, and with the private companies. I know that it is a time frame that they have to be out to the home. But that was the only company that I had an issue with and I would never use them again.
I'm aware that some of the contractors have a certain amount of free time that they come out, and any additional time that they're out, they don't get paid for it. So, they try to rush and do what needs to get done. I've had some that came out and they didn't care about the time. They tried to make sure that I knew what they were doing, what needed to be done and what I could do moving forward so that issue wouldn't happen again.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

In my master bath, the tile is sinking into the wall. I've had three plumbers come out. The downstairs, underneath my master bath, there was water dripping. The first time the plumbers came out, they said, “It's not a problem,” that if it was leaking downstairs, there would be a huge amount of evidence on the ceiling. But I can see the ceiling is ripply up there.
Then the second time the plumbers came out, he said it was the little thing that was screwed into the bathtub. He said it was angled wrong so the water was getting in there and leaking. He unscrewed it a little bit and changed the angle of it. Then on Friday night, my granddaughter was taking a shower in there and my daughter was downstairs. She came running upstairs because she could see the water traveling along the ceiling downstairs. I called American Home Shield again on Friday to have the plumbers come out again, but I haven't heard from them yet as far as an appointment.
Having AHS saves me money. I've had a couple of issues with some of the people though. It's also not easy to get ahold of AHS. If I call them on the phone, I'm on hold for an hour and a half before I can speak with someone, but I try to chat with them online when I can. But, all in all, I'm happy with AHS. I had had an issue before, and the Legum’s people came out to fix it, so I thought it would be nice to have them come out again.
American Home Shield is pushing people to schedule everything online, but if you like who you get one time and you want them to come back and work on your thing, you can't do it on their website. You have to call them in person in order to request a repeat encounter with a contractor. It would make scheduling easier for them if they somehow found a way to do that online though. Otherwise, you can call online and they have something that remembers your place in line if you call and hang up, so that's nice. You don’t have to stay online for a really long time for them to get back with you.

Both the oven and washing machine went out. The guy from Professional Appliance came out in a decent amount of time, figured out what was wrong, and he fixed it. He was really good. He fixed everything. The oven, he did right away. The washing machine, he said I needed a part. He ordered it, and as soon as they got it in, the company called me to schedule it out, and they came a couple of days later and fixed it, and it has been working since. We're happy with that.
There was a problem though, when we called initially. We spoke to someone who could barely speak English and she was really rude. And she said that she was going to lunch at that time and hung up on us. Our son has a compromised immune system. We needed the washing machine because we use a detergent and keep things clean. Zero F's were given. I said, "I just need someone to fix the washer at least like right away. We need it." She said, "I'll call you tomorrow. I'm going to lunch." After everything I told her, I thought maybe she would be more understanding. We thought it was a joke. I thought she was gonna get me the supervisor, but she had it on silent or something for a long time. I said something on the phone. And after I said something, she just hung up on me. And then, I called back and she gave me her name. She gave me the name Gretchen. I don't know how true that is.
We called back and I spoke with another guy, and he was helpful. I let him know what happened and he said that a supervisor should've reached out but they never did. Whenever we call in the representative, it's usually the one that doesn't speak English well. I guess they're from the Philippines. That's what that lady was. She sounded like she was from the Philippines. I hardly understood her. It was frustrating. I was on the phone with her for a while. Even the first time when we called for the plumber, we spoke with someone who also sounded like may have been from the Philippines, and I believe it was a male. But same issue. They don't understand. They don't know what they're doing and they find a reason to hang up.
We have also used Home Shield for a plumbing issue a few months back. The only issue that we've had is the representatives that we call in. The people that came out for the plumbing were okay. I caught them in some false information that they had given me. I don't know if they were trying to sell up more stuff or something. But I wouldn't call them out again.

When the second guy came, he took the coil away. I waited for days without hearing anything. I had to call them and ask what was going on. That was when they told me. The communication was a little lacking but in the end, it turned out to be okay. Where the service is concerned, it was fine. In general, they were responsive. They fixed the job in January and I never had a problem. I thought I would have had a problem again this summer because it's so hot and my AC wasn't cooling down. But then it cooled down. If I have to rate them on a scale of zero to 10, I would give them an 8 overall.
I have recommended American Home Shield to my family and friends and some of them have signed up for it. They do a good job. I had one problem with my electrical fan which was the last claim. I was trying to get an electrician that would come out on days where I was off from work. The lady told me that they couldn't, that they only do work Monday through Friday. I ended up canceling that claim then I refiled the claim about two or three weeks later. It's so weird, but the same company responded and their service was exceptional. They came back out again. They were awesome. They were very easy to get along with. They fixed everything exactly how I expected it to be fixed. When they couldn't fix our refrigerator, they turned in the paperwork to get us a new one. It was very nice working with them.

They told me when to expect the contractors out and it was very quick. I was very impressed with that. There were two men that came out, and they were excellent. They went above and beyond, including showing me things. They were professional and they answered all of my questions as well.

Submitting a claim to AHS was easy. It was just a phone call. They made an appointment and that was it. My claim with AHS where GE Appliances came out went very well. I was very happy with the outcome. There was a leak. It was a really old refrigerator. The contractor was really quick and he told me he fixed the problem and it was all done. When I had a claim with the faucet, they replaced the faucet with a basic faucet, which is fine with what I got. It’s great. It works fine. But they should also have an option, like if I can upgrade it if I pay for the difference.

I called Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning in on the 21st of last month and they came out and replaced the fan. It worked for a little while then it went out again. I called it back in to let them know that I was hearing it turning on, but there was no air blowing out. When I called back, American Home Shield did a recall but it was a different company who said that they voided the warranty if they touched it. They did a diagnostic and turned it in, but they said that they weren’t the original company that did the ticket on there and that they had to do a recall.
The gentleman did show up this morning. He said that it was some wires connecting that needed to be replaced in order for the fan to turn on correctly. I was surprised he showed up this morning to see what was wrong and fix it. It's working now. I was grateful because I have an 89-year-old mother that lives in the home. I’m afraid about her when I'm at work about her being in that heat. I appreciate them again and again because the last time, it took a while. I understood that with COVID-19 going on, it took them a while to be able to come out and get me. But they came out as soon as they heard that it was a recall.
The contractors do a really good job. They're very pleasant. They don't take a long time and they call you before they come out. They do their work and don't waste time. They got me in as soon as they could. At first I was thinking, “Here we go again. The fan is not working.” I could hear it turning on but then found out that that wasn't the case. I thought how many times would I have to call someone to try and take care of this problem. This was another company, but I didn't know that that was a different company than the original company that came out the second time.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

A hose in the back of the fridge broke and I had American Home Shield bring out a person to fix it. It was fixed and then the day after he fixed it, it broke again so I had to get him out again. He fixed it again. But two days after he left, it broke again. So the guy is coming back to repair it again. It was pretty simple and easy to submit the claim. But after a couple of times, they should try to send out another person ‘cause it had been the same person coming by. Other than that, getting ahold of them is not too hard. You can also do the claim online and then they give you a call to set up the appointment.

The AC wasn't blowing cold air. I always have it set at 72 and it was 81 in my house. I turned the unit off and turned all the fans in my house on. But when I got back, it was 84. It was an average of 84 degrees in the house the whole week. It took Honesty Mechanical a while to come out and they said it's because with everything that's going on, they're shorthanded but they're not getting any less calls. The guy explained exactly what was wrong and showed me a picture of it. He was very good, forthcoming and professional. He explained exactly what he was doing and talked to me for a while about why it happened.
American Home Shield is excellent. I hear from the contractors within 24 hours. My clothes dryer was making this horrible, horrible noise and the contractor came out two days later. They had to order the part. It was the same thing. That contractor explained to me exactly what was wrong. I asked if it was safe to use and he said yes. It was definitely safe to use because the belts were in place and the drum seemed to be good. Since I didn't have anything to tell him what the noise was, he said to record it next time. I did two of those the other day and it wasn't quite as loud as it had been originally but it's still making that noise. He said he was pretty sure he knew what it was and they ordered a part.
Submitting a claim is very simple. You just go on, click what's wrong, pay, then they send you an email immediately saying that somebody from a certain company will come. They tell you exactly who's gonna call and if it's new or not. If you're not satisfied then to call them back and they can give you a different contractor. The last time in May when they came to do the inspection on the air conditioner, it was a different company. It wasn't Honesty Mechanical. When this guy came, he was bad-mouthing the work of the previous contractor but I never had any trouble with the other contractor. They replaced my whole heating system and was good.
When I got the heater, the only thing that I had a problem with was bringing them back into code because that's very expensive. American Home Shield doesn't cover that and I had to pay out of my pocket for that. But if I didn't have the home warranty, I would have to pay like $10,000 for everything. It wasn't as much but it still kinda bothered me. They have to understand these units are that old and that if they're gonna cover replacing the unit, even if it's not the full price, maybe at least cover a portion of bringing it up to code. But I don't want American Home Shield to cancel my policy. I pay 12 times 36 a year compared to paying $5,000 or $6,000 or $7,000 for an air conditioner. When my little brother called the other day and I told him, he asked, "What did they charge you, 800?" I said I just had to pay the service call. I didn't have to pay for anything else. He said American Home Shield is a good thing to have and I agree.

When my refrigerator was not cooling, I gave it some time to see if it was gonna start back working on its own. I finally said it was not getting any better, so I went ahead and called American Home Shield. I set up an appointment online for someone to come out and look at it. I just went in, selected what I needed and submitted the claim. It was easy. I then got a email that stated that they had assigned somebody and that they would be reaching out to set up an appointment with me. Beyer Appliance called me the next day and then they set up an appointment for two days later. The first time the technician came out, I had emptied out the refrigerator. By the time he came, it was cool again. When I put everything back in the refrigerator, it stopped again, so I had to call him back out.
Once he came back out and saw that it wasn't cool and saw the issue, he was able to fix it quickly. I work from home and it was done before my lunch break. The technician was very friendly, quick and confident in his work. I was asked if I was gonna need a new refrigerator 'cause it was the 1500th time that I've had people come out and take a look at it. He said he figured out the problem and that he's got me. It's been working ever since. Now, we don't have to keep all of our food outside in the extra refrigerator. I have a house full of boys, so I have an extra refrigerator in the garage. Now, the refrigerator inside is working and we don't have to keep going in and out of the garage. I can put everything in my house and we can stay inside and keep the extra food. It's nice to have the refrigerator working in the house.

Express Appliance Service didn't really fix the problem. I'm currently waiting on a part that they ordered. They let me know that they ordered a part. They didn't go into detail what was going on with it. They just said that there would be a part ordered and a callback when it came in. I would have liked be told like what was actually going on with it, what was causing it, to where it could be prevented later on. But other than that, they're pretty good with communication. They said, “I’ll come this and this time,” then they would always come late. That’s annoying. Also, they don't call. I need to call them. On the other hand, Amit, AAA's tech, was great. He was punctual. Also, I like the way he explained. He explained everything like what the problem was and how he would fix it. Even though he said he would order parts, he called me and let me know. He called me all the time. He kept me up to date.
I have been calling Home Shield about one of the problems for the refrigerator. I'm on the line for five hours but I'm not able to reach out them. I still don't know what's going on for my refrigerator. Before, it was great. I call Home Shield and they pick up right away. My Georgia Plumber was out here last week because the overflow drain of our air conditioner unit in our attic wasn't draining, and it was causing leaks into our master bedroom. When the air conditioning company came and looked at it, they said, "Well, we need a plumber to come out. It's a plumbing issue." It was the PVC pipe - the overflow drain that runs outside the house. They recommended My Georgia Plumber to come out and fix the problem, which they did. They found 50 feet of blockage in the drain pipe. The tech brought the pipe down and showed us the blockage, and then said he kept going further and kept finding more. They had to replace 50 feet of PVC pipe to get the blockage out. We've had several several AC companies over the past years we've had issues with the AC and the plumber did more help for us and worked than most of the AC companies. They were great for us. We're completely satisfied and grateful for them.

The hardest part with AHS is getting a technician to come and do their job. The second one, it seems like it's hardly ever resolved with the first visit. Also, there have been times where I have to wait up to three weeks since the first call until the issue gets resolved. That's really frustrating when I have something in my home not working. Like right now, the plumbing is not working and it's gonna be a week tomorrow. Plumbing shouldn't be that difficult, running this leak to the pipes and cleaning up. It's ridiculous that the contractor has to schedule another visit. They make it look like it's so complicated. I also had a faucet in the kitchen and the refrigerator water dispenser that were fixed for nearly three weeks. Is that worth waiting or maybe paying somebody out of pocket and not having the contract? It's not really a good thing to go through, which is kind of hectic and nerve-racking.
There was one instance where my AC unit was not working and it took almost two months to fix it and I had to end up getting a second opinion because the first company made the wrong diagnostic. They wanted me to pay the whole amount for their repair which was like 11 or $200. American Home Shield approved it, which I didn't see the need as they would not pay anything and that was slap in the face. The second thing that bothered me was if it was the wrong item. I had to take a chance and have a second opinion, and if I was wrong, I would've had to pay for it. Luckily, I was correct and the other company ended up fixing the problem but with so much stress and being disappointed and upset.
The one thing that will make it much better is if they speed up things. Instead of having to wait every two to three weeks to resolve the issue, it'd be nice to get it done within a week. It seems like many of the contractors, for some reason, make it within less than a week or 10 days. That's pretty long to wait. I understand it's a lot of red tape. But I'm not happy when I have to wait more than two weeks for a simple repair. However, in taking the questions and the appointments, AHS has been super nice and professional.

My freezer wasn’t cooling. It would go from -2 degrees to 15 degrees and then all of a sudden, go back to -2. Then, it started getting warmer at 15. I called Home Shield and put a claim in on July 26. They were on it and the serviceman from S & S Appliance, Bobby, came out immediately. I was so impressed. Bobby was very familiar with GE Monogram. He said he's licensed with it and he did an assessment of what needs to happen. He said he would be back on Friday as long as he had all the parts in and would be able to fix the refrigerator. I was so pleased because I didn't wanna have to throw away everything that I had in the freezer.
Then, I didn’t hear from S & S and I ended up calling around August 4th or 5th. I asked them what was going on and they told me AHS ended up telling them that they were gonna get a second opinion. On August 6th, I spoke to Ben at AHS and said they needed a second opinion from GE. They needed to get a diagnosis that was more accurate and they would determine whose diagnosis was better. I contacted GE and they gave me an appointment for the following day, August 12, but they told me they were gonna charge me. I was a little confused because I was following AHS’s recommendation to contact GE. They claimed that AHS noted some modifications and I would end up with an out of pocket expense and they wanted to avoid my having an out of pocket expense. I appreciated their concern. But then I spoke to Bobby at S & S and said he never included any modifications whatsoever.
I was not very pleased with the fact that I got canceled. They canceled my original request and they ended up reinstituting a new one on August 7. Nobody has come out yet but I spoke to a rep who said that an authorization went out on the 10th. The authorization finally got approved from S & S when it was originally requested back on July 28. The contractor is supposed to contact me as soon as they get the notification from AHS to come out. From July 28th to August 10th, I was with a defective refrigerator where I wasn't able to keep my items cold. I'm really disappointed and I don't know if I even wanna keep AHS after this. I've had them for two years and this is the first time I've had such a problem.

American Home Shield has been out on two appliances. The latest one was a microwave. The door wouldn't close and they came out promptly and fixed it the same day. They did great. However, I had an issue before my microwave and it was not a good experience at all. It was before the Coronavirus, so that didn't factor into the delays. My oven wasn't working properly. I already knew that the parts were not available anymore because I googled it and looked at a few things. It was an older oven and the plant in Japan had been destroyed. I was told this by a repair place that sells parts here. Antech Appliances came out, inspected the oven and decided that they were gonna order parts for it. They went back and they didn't call. They ordered the parts and I waited a month.
I would call them multiple times and sometimes, they wouldn't answer. It would go to voicemail, and I’d leave a voicemail. I wasn't bugging them every two days or anything like that. I'd wait a week and ask for an update. They would never call me and give me an update and then they would be evasive. They'd also say they put the order in for the part, but they didn't know when it was gonna come and they haven't heard anything. I'd have to ask to speak to a manager and the person I was talking to would say they wouldn't know any more than the information they were giving me. Six weeks, the parts still hadn't come in. When the guy finally came back out with the parts, they didn't work. He said, in his opinion, I needed a new oven.
The technician was really great. He went back and made the recommendation, but they weren't giving me satisfactory answers. They were not communicating. I finally had to get ahold of American Home Shield and lodge a complaint that Antech wasn't returning my calls. American Home Shield then said they were gonna replace it, but it took a long time. I was without an oven for almost two months. Anyway, American Home Shield gave me my choices. They told me to go ahead and make my choice. I did it through the website with American Home Shield and once I ordered the unit, I then decided to go with an upgrade. I paid for the upgrade, and then someone was out and had it installed in a week. That was quick.
Who American Home Shield picks to service the appliances is where the lack of communication comes in. They didn't seem to even care and they were hard to get ahold of. I also had a plumbing issue that American Home Shield took care of, but I'm not happy about that at all as well. My faucet broke in the kitchen and I had a very nice faucet in there. When the plumber came out, he thought he could fix it, but then when he evaluated it, he said he couldn't. He was gonna have to replace the faucet and I told him that I wanted something that was gonna be near equal. I would even be willing to pay for the upgrade.
When I called to see when they were coming, I asked them to tell me what kind of faucet they were gonna replace it with. He said they couldn't tell me that. When he picks it up, that's when he finds out what it is. It was a junky faucet that was replacing a $350 one, but I had no choice. It's very cheap and if said they only covered 100 or 150, I would have paid for the upgrade.
The other thing was they charged me an extra $100 to take out the garbage disposal, so the plumber could put the faucet in. My son-in-law said it was a $70-faucet tops and I don't see the benefit there. Like most people in their kitchen have a garbage disposal, I have one. It's not like I've got some weird garbage disposal, but removing it and putting it back in was an extra charge. Still, I recommended American Home Shield to my daughter and son-in-law and they also purchased it. They are working with American Home Shield and they just had them out and had a good experience.

I ended up registering online and just doing the claim myself. Drain Masters came out quickly and fixed the problem. It was taken care of in the first visit.

I'm a real estate agent and it is highly recommended to use the services of AHS. Also, I have personal home warranty representatives that I talk to every day, but I still choose to stay with American Home Shield because when I look at it, they may charge less for the deductible, but then all the services are not included. With American Home Shield, I'll just pay more and get everything.
Recently, I had an appliance issue and I called American Home Shield to submit the claim. Then, they automatically referred me to the service provider, A A R, A R R. The techs set up the appointment the first time but something happened and I had to reschedule it. But when their tech came, he was on time and professional about it. He took care of the issue, was respectful, and I appreciated him. The other reps at his company were so kind, too. This was the first time I've had a company call to follow up to make sure everything was okay. Everything was good and the machine he worked on is still going until now. Other than that, I'm not happy about the $75 deductible, but it is what it is. And when I look at other companies, it's all the same. So, I have no problems with American Home Shield. I renewed with them and I'll renew again.

We just bought our home and the seller consigned American Home Shield as our home protection. We've been okay with it, so we're continuing on. The first call we've had that we've worked with American Home Shield on, everything went fine. The air conditioning guy came in and he examined things completely. He told us what we had going and when we asked him a question, he had the answers that we needed. He was honest with us, and that’s good. He fixed our third and second regulator appropriately to where we could regulate better. He changed the thermostat since the old one had mercury in it. Now, it's cool in the house. We're still having issues with the ductwork, but that wasn't what he was supposed to be there for.

The light was off on our water heater and it wasn't generating hot water. I had to call American Home Shield because their website was down and it wouldn't let me put in any claim. Then it wouldn't even let the rep and she had to call me back a couple of hours later. The contractor did a good job. He had put the valve on his truck just in case that was what it was with the water heater, and he fixed it. That was great.
We had a contractor out a little over a month before because our garage door opener broke and the guy did not fix it. It was doing the same thing. It was opening on its own randomly during the night where people would have access to our house. AHS said I had to pay another $75 call charge to send somebody out because I waited more than 30 days. I said that was not right. It's the same issue. She said that I should have called right away. I said that it was COVID and the contractor should have fixed it right the first time. All that the guy did was push the learn button to clear it out. We had done that and we told him it didn't work.
That was the only thing I was disappointed in but I wish AHS would have fixed the issue and the contractor had done it properly. It needs to be replaced and I shouldn't have to keep paying as much as it's gonna cost me to buy a new one to get them to fix it. Still, we're glad that we have American Home Shield because our air conditioning control board went out, the valve went out on the water heater and our garage door opener broke. It has been a good experience.

I sit at home, my husband complains, and I log on and submit a claim right there. It's super easy. I love it. Cool & Cozy came out and the tech was very knowledgeable. He let me know how things worked and what I can do with the AC unit to keep it running on my own, and was generally very informative, which is very nice because most of the guys showed up, pointed out the problem, that was it and away they went. But this guy understands. He's a breath of fresh air. I told him I'm gonna keep his name and number because he's local, and I didn't know about him.
Home Shield has been a benefit so far. Unfortunately, we haven't had the company that we used to get sent to us for everything all year. I'm of talking to a bunch of people about it. From what I understand is we paid a whole lot more than we should have. The previous contractors figured out how to get around Home Shield's warranty rates. Cool & Cozy's tech informed me that he finished a couple of the other people's jobs and the people were so happy because they thought they have to pay thousands of dollars. And I asked, “You mean I wouldn't have had to pay?” He said, “Oh, no. And a lot of people don't know that.” He was extremely helpful and caring.

The element of the stove was burnt out and we couldn't get the element in so we called American Home Shield. The guy from Keepin It Cool came out and fixed the stove. I also had a claim with the dryer with them and they came out six times for that. I told them I needed a new one, but they kept putting new parts in, so it's still clicking and clicking. I called AHS and told them not to call the same people but they kept sending the same ones out. However, AHS doesn't charge us the $75 every time they come. We've had AHS for about eight years now and they are good. Even if they can't get anybody out on the weekends, they answer the phone so I'm gonna keep them. It's just that if they could find some good and suitable contractors.

Fleshers Refrigeration was great. They were able to give me an appointment the best day and when the technicians came out, they told my wife what was up with the issue on the AC and they fixed it. It was a bad capacitor and they replaced it right there on the spot. So, they did a good job. They were professional. This is our peak summer, so we're looking at triple-digit weather here, which was why it probably went. But it’s working fine and it hasn’t gone out.
There's another claim that I have which has to do with the stove. The front glass of the stove shattered. So, I went through American Home Shield. That piece is not being made to replace it so we ended up ordering a new stove altogether. This happened back in July 11th-ish when we ordered it and I've been calling the purchasing center for American Home Shield. They have wait times from an hour to three hours on the phone.
On Friday, I was on the phone for three hours and it never went through. So. when I called back, they said that their office was closed and to call back within a certain time frame. They should've just automatically hung me up and said try again later. For the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to get ahold of the purchasing center just to see what the status is on this new stove that's supposed to come in and I haven't heard anything else. It has already been a month. As far as email-wise, they haven't contacted me again. With this COVID thing, they were saying that they were having certain delays but one thing that I would like to see on the website, when you do have a claim, is to have a comment section within the actual claim itself so you can add comments and someone can review those or if you have issues. The only way I can get through is if I decide to do a new claim and tell that person what was going on.

Mr. Plumber came out, and I told them there was a leak and stoppage. The stoppage was on the ground floor, and the leak was on the top floor. The tech said, “I don't hear anything. That's just the water dripping into the pipe.” Then he said that the stoppage was already cleared and that I already paid a plumber to clear it. I said, “Well, I don't know if they cleared it right. And I just want to make sure it is clear, clear.” So he said, “Well, I'm not coming here to do maintenance. I'm just coming here to clear it if it's stopped.” He said he couldn't do it. I felt uneasy when they left, and that was why I asked for them to come back to check it again because I felt like he didn't want to do it.
They came back out and the tech did detect a leak from upstairs. He couldn’t see the water, he didn't know where the water was coming from, but he could hear it. He looked for it in my apartment and in the tenant's apartment to see if he could see anything coming down. He couldn't find anything. He said, “The next thing would be to open the wall.” I said, “Well, I don't really want to open up a wall if you're saying that it could be just leaking into the pipe. Then, you know, I’m opening up a can of worms. So, I guess when I see water, I'll open it there, like we did for leaks before that were in my house.”
I asked him to check the stoppage again, and he said he wasn't going to because that would be a maintenance. I don't know if I still have a stoppage or not. The stoppage caused a huge flood to the basement, and I had to rip the ceiling off half of the basement. That was why I'm so concerned about it. So I told him, “Can you please take that into consideration? I don't want it to happen again. I have to rebuild, and I want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. So can you just make it and make sure it's going through?”
He was gonna put a hose to make sure that there was water going through the flow. I told him, “I understand that you want to put the hose but there's a washing machine that's connected. So the pressure of the washing machine of the water going into it when it's like rinsing or whatever, is a lot stronger than the hose you're gonna use. It's three times stronger the pressure of the water. So I just want to make sure.” I'm afraid to use my washing machine.
I've had other claims before with American Home Shield, and the plumbers they've sent were lazy. If they had to look for a leak or what, they get frustrated. I tried to direct them into where I think it was going, and they told me it was just the hot water pipe making a noise. Then, three weeks later, when I had them come back again, it was exactly where I told them it was. It's also really frustrating getting American Home Shield on the phone. It takes about 45 minutes to over an hour to get them on the phone. Then when you get them on the phone and you're explaining something that happened, it's almost like you're telling them for the first time. They have notes but they don't read them and it's really draining.

Everything has been great and I had texted the contractor a couple of times. The ovens are both going and it’s all a go. Then, my daughter put something in the oven and set it at 350, and it went off again. She had to go out and flip the circuit breaker. The technician reset everything to the way it was set in the factory and everything was working great. So, I haven't had a problem since then. Yesterday morning, I put a quiche in the oven for breakfast for an hour and it didn't go off. Everything was just perfect. Now, it hasn’t done it again, but I didn't cook home last night. When it goes off, it’s just crazy. But everybody did whatever they could and they've changed the circuit breaker. I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope that this is it. If it goes out again, I'll call AHS right away. I can't even imagine that I'm gonna have to end up eventually with a new stove.
The people that have been sent out by American Home Shield have been more than accommodating, professional and very helpful. But many times, when I've called in, I get someone on the phone and they’re very hard to understand. I finally asked one lady if she was from the Philippines. And she said yes. This one gal was trying to be helpful but I don't think she understood me and she was hard to understand. But other than that, I've been totally happy with the response I've gotten.

I called American Home Shield to report that my washer was not working and they were gonna send somebody out. But the contractor was not gonna be able to come for two weeks. It was the first day that they told me and I was frustrated because that was not good. We were all home and we couldn’t go out. We couldn’t wash our clothes for two weeks. Finally, AHS reached out to the company and they came three days later. A couple of parts were needed and one of the parts was not available anymore. So, they said that they couldn’t repair my washer. AHS replaced it. I first reported the issue on June 9th and I got my new washer in July. The first company was gonna be closed so AHS called somebody else. The technicians came out and they said that the water valve was leaking. They also said that if I did not replace it and if I had any more issues, AHS would not cover it because I had a leak.
Ahs sent somebody out to do a second evaluation and they said that there was a leak. But if I wanna replace it, some of the work is not gonna be covered, which will be between $400 to $500. If I still wanted to do it, I would need to contact AHS, who called me back a couple of days later and asked me if I wanted to continue with the work. I said yes and that I needed to continue with the work. I needed the washer to be covered. It's new and if something happens in six months because the new washer doesn't work out, I don't wanna be told that something's not covered because I didn’t replace the valve.
The technicians came yesterday to replace a valve. They cut the drywall and put the new valve, but they said they don't do the drywall. My washer is in the garage and it’s working now but I can't put them in until the drywall is covered up. I'm not sure if it's AHS or the company who will come and finish the job so I can continue to put my washer and dryer back in. It's gonna be 13 years that I've been with AHS and I understand that the world is under a new norm but when I called, I was on hold for two hours. I couldn't hang up because I needed my washer replaced. The hold is continuous but I see AHS advertising for more customers. I did a search to find a new company and AHS was the first one that came up on my link. Within five minutes, they called me because they wanted my business but I didn't want them. I wanted a new company.

A half-hour wait is an awful long time to wait on a phone call. But I tell all my friends about American Home Shield. I tell them they're really great. They send out good people. They know what they're doing, they get it done, and there are no problems. Recently, I wasn't getting enough water into my sink. It's been one heck of a couple of weeks for us with leaks in the home. We had three separate issues. The very first one was back in July. The contractor showed up the same day. It was like three hours after I called them. The liquid was pretty substantial inside the wall. I had another company out here that had torn into the wall but they wouldn't touch the plumbing. So then City Plumbing had to come out and replace the PEX pipe inside the wall. So that was good and done.
The second issue was in another bathroom across the house. This call took two to three days for them to come out. We had fans blowing and the mitigation company was out here. So that went reasonably well. However, this last one is in my laundry room now. They came out today and they left saying they'd have to call for some approvals to get access to the pipe. So they left without completing the job. It's hard to get ahold of them because it's an hour and a half to a two-hour wait on the phone.
The issue has nothing to do with City Plumbing. They can't get approvals to do whatever they want. They have to get approvals from American Home Shield. So the first two claims were great, but I'm kinda worried that the last one might take a lot longer than it should. But the service from American Home Shield has been good. I've been doing my claims online and I love it. It's great. It takes me less than five minutes to send in the claim. However, it's challenging if I wanted to speak to somebody and have a quicker resolution. It's an hour and a half wait, which is pretty excessive for calling.

Normally, it's all done rather quickly and I don't have to contact American Home Shield unless necessary. I had two contractors come out this past month. I indicate that when I do my request as well.
I've had American Home Shield for 10 years and they do a really good job. I did notice that they're starting to use contractors that don’t have a company truck or car though. The Care Appliance Repair company that just came out, I asked for a business card and the guy didn't have any. When I bought this house back in ‘13, the owners added in the package an HMS Home Warranty. We had them for two years but we never had to use them. And then, they kept bumping the prices up and they didn't cover a lot. I found Home Shield. I have the house out here and one in New Mexico that I both pay for. I’m not gonna pay $1,400 dollars a month when I can pay the 1,000 with Home Shield. The price didn't matter because AHS covered a lot more than HMS did at the time when I started them. And their price is really good.
My property manager let me know on a Thursday at 5 o’clock our time that the dishwasher stopped working. I immediately got on the phone with Home Shield. I didn't like the over an hour wait time, but I get it. Stuff happens. I tried to go online, but since I live in this house, this was the only house that it showed on my account. But the lady told me how to add the New Mexico house. That won't happen again because I will just use the computer to start a claim.
I finally got ahold of the lady after over an hour on hold, and then she said, “Okay, we're gonna send you an email right away.” That was at 6:00 or 7:00. I texted my property manager, “Hey. Got the information. I'll text it to you tomorrow.” I texted her at five o'clock on Friday and asked if the company ever got back with her and she said no. Nothing would get done on Saturday and Sunday. Monday came around and I asked my property manager if she was contacted. She again said no. I called the place that was on the email from Home Shield and the contractor said they never got anything, while here I am thinking that the company would contact me in 24 hours. That was a major disconnect on some part where they said they had nothing.
I called Home Shield again, over an hour on hold, and the lady said, “Hold on.” Then she called and said, “Yeah, they're not getting our paperwork so we're gonna go with somebody else.” That was a little frustrating because the tenants didn't have a dishwasher. I know it’s not the end of the world, but they didn't have a dishwasher for five days. Also, I don't like being on hold forever, but it’s just life. Other than that, I just got one of my coworkers to buy a package with Home Shield.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently around the clock to manage the hold time better and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

Our recent claim with AHS was handled great. My upstairs air was not cooling correctly and the air conditioning was running continuously. I had a situation where my wife had just had surgery, so we needed the upstairs to be cool. The first folks that they assigned, I called them to try to get them to come out a little earlier. The appointment they scheduled was reasonable, it just didn't meet my needs because it was gonna be five days, and I needed to get it cooler up here when she got back from the hospital. So, I called them directly but they weren't able to change their appointment.
I called American Home and told them the situation. The young lady I talked with started looking and checking to see if she could find somebody else that could do it quicker and she did. The contractors came out the next day. The contractors were very nice, very professional and couldn't have been better. They were here when they would be and did exactly what they said they would do.
I wasn't really expecting it to cost me an additional $192, but that was the Freon thing. That’s in the contract, so I understood it. That still was a pretty good deal on the Freon, all things considered. But I would like to have had a better idea of just how much I was gonna have to delve out. A little bit more transparency there of how much Freon is, would have helped. It would have softened the impact of the additional $200 bill. But they were upfront in the fact that you're gonna have to pay Freon. But that one thing aside, everything was great. I was very satisfied with the way they handled it.

I had a situation when I would run my dishwasher and it wouldn't empty. When I would open the door, water would come out onto the floor. I called the issue in to American Home Shield and their tech from GE Appliances came on the 14th. He said the motor was bad and that he would have the replacement motor shipped directly to my location. He said that he would be back on Tuesday the 21st to install it. However, the motor didn't arrive by then. So, he didn't come back until the 28th to fix my dishwasher. From the first visit until when it was repaired, it was two whole weeks. It got repaired though and now my dishwasher has been working great.
I've had Home Shield for many years. I had them for more than 15 years on my house in Georgia and two years ago, I added my current property. I've always found them to be thorough and fair. That was until the issue I had with my air conditioning which is still hung up. My AC wasn't working when I moved in to my new location. I called AHS to report the issue. An AC contractor came and checked the air handler but he couldn't get access to my roof. That had to be arranged with my condo's management and I was not aware of that.
In the meantime, I got sick staying at my condo because the temperature inside was at least 81 degrees with very high humidity. I had to go to urgent care and people told me that I should stay there until my AC issue was fixed. I called and spoke to American Home Shield telling them that I had a review of the equipment that was done by inspectors who were working on the roof. AHS refused to accept the copy of the report of the inspectors because it wasn't from one of their vendors. They rejected my claim based on the initial vendor's assessment as he said that it looked like there had been secondary damage to the unit. That was because there was a bent pipe.
When I reached out to the air conditioning company that has already been on the roof, they explained to me what they found, which was that the unit was so old and rusty that the bottom was falling out. Since the roof was being done, they moved my unit. As they lifted it, the bottom fell out which causes one of the pipes to bend. For a while, the Freon leaked out. Also, the holes in my unit's coils were caused by bad welds where the whole system holds itself together. So, there was no secondary damage. The unit was handled with extreme care because it was so old. It was reported to the condo management company I hired. The manager opted not to do anything because the unit was still working and so she said that she didn't notify me to notify American Home Shield at the time.
American Home Shield said that the best they could do was send another one of their vendors to take a look at my unit. That company still hasn't reached a decision. I had initially bought a portable air conditioning unit for $300 because I couldn't stay at my place without air conditioning. I explained to AHS that they were costing me additional money by slowing down the process and not responding. So, I was forced to buy a full air conditioning system out of pocket because otherwise, I couldn't stay at my place. I also switched to another company who came and replaced my AC system.
With AHS, I had to wait from the first report submitted on July 8 until August 4 to deal with a situation that was unhealthy. I'm a senior citizen with a lung condition and AHS did not respond. I'm gonna cancel my AHS warranty. This is ridiculous. They still haven't responded to me and I am out nearly $5,000 which is absurd. I've been paying them premiums on time for more than 15 years and they left me without air conditioning for an entire month. I am very disappointed with their performance.
They're gonna have to reimburse me or I'm gonna sue AHS. What they did is not what it says in their contract. They're supposed to be much more responsive. I've already talked to a friend who's an attorney and he told me to take AHS to a small claims court because Home Shield should have paid the claim based on the initial report. The fact that they didn't accept the report because they didn't hire the vendor who made it is a really lame excuse for why they wouldn't accept a report based on the condition of the unit.
We do apologize for the delayed response. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The guy from Sears came and did a thorough examination of what the issue was. He called to double verify that the part was what I needed. He went and picked up the part and came right back, and then showed me the older parts. When he was doing the work, he said that since the appliance was behind the house, he told me he would call me and show me when it was done rather than knocking on the door. I've had other service calls and they've been fine but he was good as well as Sears, which is who I usually use before I got the warranty.
American Home Shield has done well and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I had one minor issue with the plumbing because everywhere here in Florida, the plumbing tends to run higher than the house, and do a lot of piping up. So that wasn't clear when they came out. But outside of that, everything else has been fine. Also, when the AC had an issue, the contractor made a suggestion on how I could do something maintenance-wise to prevent what happened. I was with a different company before and I researched American Home Shield and the reviews were good. I’ve been very satisfied so far.

Lake Area came out to work on appliances, and they came a couple of times because they had to order parts. They worked on my refrigerator, icemaker, washer and dishwasher. I called American Home Shield initially, and I set the claim up with them first. Then AHS set it up with Lake Area. The AHS reps that I spoke to were very helpful. They gave me an expectation on when to expect the call from Lake Area to set up the appointment. The guy from Lake Area was personable. He seemed to be skilled and knowledgeable, and he told us a couple of things to help out. He said, “You might wanna get this in the future to clean out your system so that maybe it won't get clogged.”
Lake Area had to come out one more time a week ago, and they made a correction on the washing machine because it wasn't washing. It had something to do with the part that was put in because it was actually put in the door. The door was not doing something and the washing machine just won't work. So, he came out and made that correction. He was only there a few minutes, and that was it. He was really good. We just didn't like him having to come back out for the last part. But he was in and out quick, so I like that. I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. I was protected by them at another house plus this house. I've been with them for at least 20 years.

The dryer had a horrible noise. It sounded like the whole drum was about to come out. Fidelity Appliances came in and said, “Okay, this is what it is and I'll order parts.” When the parts came in, they came out again and put them in. Everything is now functioning properly.

I had a very unhappy experience with American Home Shield. My garage door wasn't working and when we tried to submit a claim, it was very difficult. We called AHS and nobody was answering the phone. We have to choose online and there were some things we didn't know were included or not included in our insurance. We didn't have anybody to help us. Plus, when we choose online, we have to pay first and when we wanna cancel, nobody cancels for us. With my garage door claim, the tech came and did a one minute fix.
So far, I've made three appointments and though only two of which are coming, my money is still there with them. I need to call my bank to cancel my payment. I hope American Home Shield can cancel the payment for me. Otherwise, if I call my bank, AHS will have to pay the complaint fee. I have pool coverage and I want to know if my pump is included as well as my chlorine machine. I just made an appointment, paid $75 and then their pool companies called me.
When I asked the tech whether my issue was covered, he said he had no idea. If he comes and says that my issue is not included, I don't know how much I need to pay. A chlorine system is very sensitive and that's the one they didn't tell me at all whether or not it was covered. The tech said that he would not come but if I wanted to cancel my charge, I have to call American Home Shield. The issue might be COVID-19 so I will be more patient.
My second complaint is for my AC system. My real estate agent said that it's impossible for the seller of the home I got to replace my entire AC system if they see it working. The best way for me to go is to buy two years of insurance. If I have any problem, my warranty company can repair it for me and if I think my system is too old or broken, they can repair or replace it for me. I purchased American Home Shield but when I put in claims, I realize that it's not a happy experience having them. When I saw my AC not working this summer, the tech told me that my system was not working because of Freon. I paid $75 but AHS only covers $10 for each pound of Freon charge. If I call my AC company, I pay $185 for each pound of Freon so I only have to pay $170. With AHS, I have a $75 appointment fee and the AC company needs to charge $220 for each pound of Freon. With AHS, I need to pay $50 more so I'm very upset.
In total, 1/3 of my claims is satisfied. But then, everywhere I call for a garage door repair, it's not too expensive. Overall, I'm very disappointed with American Home Shield. If AHS would answer my calls, we would understand each other more. If they could give me my money back, then AHS would be the perfect service. I would feel very happy and very safe with my house being under their kind of protection.
Are you still in need of assistance?

I did an online work order for two faucets that needed to be fixed and the website is good. They let me know the contractor would call me within 48 hours to set up an appointment and the plumber who came was good. I had a leaky faucet in the bathtub, and then a bad faucet in the bathroom sink. They're in the same bathroom and he fixed everything that needed to be fixed. He had to put a hole in the wall in the Sheetrock, and he said that he would get with American Home Shield to get that fixed later. Initially, my experience was good, but as far as the follow-up goes, it hasn't been there. They're not fixing the second problem, so it’s not very good overall.
The first time I contacted American Home Shield to ask them about getting the hole fixed, they suggested I call the plumber to get them in touch with American Home Shield. I called the plumbers and they said, “Well, when you call American Home Shield, you're on hold for anywhere from a half an hour to an hour and a half." So they weren't able to get ahold of American Home Shield. It's been a back and forth thing and the problem isn't getting fixed. If I call American Home Shield on the phone, I'm also on hold for that long just talk to somebody.
I've talked with someone twice about the hole in the wall, and both times, they said they would contact somebody to come and fix it. Both times, I haven't heard anything back. I called last week and I'm still waiting to hear back from American Home Shield. Supposedly, they've gotten in touch with another contractor to fix that, but I haven't heard anything yet. The faucets are working fine now, but I still have the hole in my wall three weeks after this all happened, and I'm not happy about that.

There was an issue with the air condition on top of my house and AHS assigned Cool Factory to come and look at it. They found the issue rather quickly and solved the problem. My issue was that they claimed that there was not enough coolant in the air condition and that AHS wouldn't cover it, so I had to pay on the spot. Apart from that, everything's fine as of right now. With summer and the air conditioner not working, the repair affected a lot.
I filed the claim online on a weekend and they let me know electronically that it'll be coming in a day or two. They told me who the contractor was and the contractor company called and then said they would be out on x day. There have also been several repairs that needed to be done since I got American Home Shield and they've taken care of it, keeping it at a flat fee. I like the fact that I don't have to come out of pocket for anything.

My outside unit was making a loud metal on metal noise, and the AC wasn't blowing cold at all. It was just staying hot in the house. Two days after I requested a service ticket, a contractor came out the first time and diagnosed it. It was the motor and the fan. It was a weekend when the guy came out and they were closed on weekends. He said he'd have to get the parts Monday. Monday then rolls around and they had to order the parts, so they weren't out till the following Thursday. It was a week later and he thought he fixed it. I got home Thursday after he thought he fixed it and the unit started making a loud popping noise.
He came back out the following Saturday and said it was the compressor and that I'd have to wait till Monday to get the compressor. I was frustrated. It took two weeks and I had to go buy a couple of window units 'cause it was hot outside. I called American Home Shield and they ended up sending different guys straight from Dallas. They fixed the issue, put the compressor in and all the Freon and they did great.
This is my first claim with American Home Shield and the process was really easy. I had an issue with the fact that they're hard to get ahold of and I know right now, 'cause of COVID, that's part of it. However, my supervisor uses them, which is why I chose them as well. She had an AC problem a while back, and they reimbursed her $200 for the box fan she bought because she had to wait over the weekend for her AC to get fixed. I waited that first week when my AC was supposed to be fixed and I didn't get anything. Then when it was broken the same day they fixed it, I went and got two window units.
I asked if I was gonna get reimbursed anything for it and they said no because it wasn't previously approved. I should've called them first and gotten it approved, then went and bought the window units. I told them I would've done that, but then I couldn't ever get ahold of them. You literally sit on the phone for two hours and that's not even an over-exaggeration. It's two hours you wait to talk to anybody. Still, everything else was fine.

When I first called to make the appointment, Home Shield sent a company called Flowright. They came but the tech didn't do anything. He just looked at it and said it was a sewage backup and wanted to charge me $650. So, I called Home Shield back and they told me in order for them to do the work, I would have to pay the $650, then they would do the rest. I explained to them, “No, ’cause it has nothing to do with the sewage. It has to do with just the kitchen sink backing up. If it was the sewage, it will be the whole house and it wasn't.”
We kept going back and forth about that. They cancelled it one time, saying that everything was taken care of but it wasn't. And then, I finally told them, “Look, I want a second opinion.” They questioned me why I wanted one and I said, “Because the plumber that you all sent out here don't know what he's talking about.” They then said we'll do one. However, it took them almost a week to find me somebody to come out here and do a second opinion. R.E. Willard Plumbing finally came out here and the tech also asked me why I wanted a second opinion. I explained to him the same thing I explained to Home Shield about the sewage backup. He said the same thing, that if it was a sewage backup, my whole house would be backed up. He snaked it and got it all taken care of.
I just have issues with some of Home Shield's employees. They didn't understand what I was talking about because of their nationality. They didn't understand English real good, and didn't understand what I explained. I had my house since ‘95. I've had Home Shield since I lived here and I never had an issue with them until this one time. I’m disappointed in Home Shield just because of this one issue. I don't think that they are good for emergency situations, but for routine things that can wait a week to have somebody come out, it's great. I prefer submitting claims online and then, usually, in a couple of days, we get a call.
One time, the screws that hold the whole dishwasher in place had shimmied off so when I would roll out my rack on the bottom, the whole dishwasher would come out. My wife and I used to flip houses years ago. We've had several houses with home warranties on them. It would come free with the house because the listing agent had them and when it expired, we were just done with them. American Home Shield is the only one that I've continued. They've been responsive, they're easy to use, and they work things real quickly. They're a good enough value that I keep it, even though I'm paying for it. Submitting claims is a pretty easy process. The only problem I had was trying to double up and getting two issues addressed with one service person. I had difficulty getting that scheduled. It turned out that the company that was coming for one wasn't set up to handle the other so they couldn't do it anyway.
Recently, I had some kind of a leak going on when I would go into the filter house. There was water on the ceiling and on the walls and I couldn't find the leak. Mountain View came out and they said that it was a pressurization problem. They checked and said because of the pressurization problem there may have been damage to one of the seals inside the pump that might have been an additional source of leakage. They got permission from Home Shield to be covered and they came back out and fixed it. They got everything sorted out quickly and easily.
I do wish that the record was more available. I can only go back and see what I've had done on this contract in the last 12 months. There are times when I'm looking for tax issues or trying to calculate cost of the house and I wanna be sure that I have included all of the maintenance that's been done. I look at all of the things that have been repaired and so it would be nice if I could go back for as long as I've been with them as opposed to just the current contract.

It's better to go online and file a claim than to call because of the hold time with American Home Shield. I understand we're under a pandemic, but even prior to that, it was awful. There have been times where I've been on hold for 30 minutes, which is unacceptable, just to get somebody to pick up the phone. So, 99.9% of the time, I try to go online 'cause I don't wanna deal with it. And I just know from vendors over the years, when a vendor has to deal directly with American Home Shield is just as bad although the vendors don't complain because if they do, they probably get booted. But the vendors they've sent were fabulous and very professional.
I had an issue with one repair job in regards to an AC unit. It wasn't working because it wasn't getting the signal from the Nest AC thermostat. I figured that American Home Shield wasn't gonna authorize the claim and so I didn't go through them. We have another AC company that came out and fixed it. They have been beyond phenomenal. They found an issue with what the American Home Shield AC guy did which was shoddy craftsmanship. But I didn't call and complain 'cause it had already been 90 days. With my recent claim, Hendricks Electric came out to fix an attic fan that was not working.
I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years and the few times I would call them and say about my contract, they would tell me that I've only been with them for two years. If for any reason a client's contract is terminated and a new contract is started, there should be some type of notation on the account how long that particular consumer has been with the company. Since I've been with them for 20 years, when I get the contract, I automatically assume that whatever it is, I'm gonna get. There was a scenario that happened one time in regards to the AC unit that I had to call up and request for my contract to put everything up to code. So, when it came time to replace my AC unit, they said that I didn't authorize them to upgrade my policy to apply to code, so I had to pay on my own to get everything up to code.
If a client has the Cadillac plan, they should get the benefits of the Cadillac plan automatically. They shouldn’t have to call up and request any modifications. Probably, it came and went, and I didn't even realize I didn't read the policy. So, if any time any changes are made where a Cadillac plan person, they should get any new features that are put into the plan. They're charging me more year after year. I should be getting every bells and whistles that are available to me for being the Cadillac plan without having to request. But I love them and I recommend them all the time.

A drain was stopped up. It would back up from the laundry room to the same place that the kitchen drained into. When draining the washer, the water would back up in the sink in the kitchen. I needed to get that out and Draingo came out here. They were very professional and very courteous. They did a great job and the timing was great. I have no complaints whatsoever, either from American Home Shield or from the plumbers. Home Shield did an outstanding job just the way they did it.

The washing machine needed a repair and we filed a claim with AHS. The tech came, did the assessment, determined what the problem was, and told me that he'd be back whenever because the part has to be ordered. Then he came back with the part and repaired it before the time that he had indicated earlier. So, I was well pleased with that. He was also professional and pleasant. I tend to ask questions and he didn't seem to be annoyed by those questions. And he responded. So I would rate that as a very good experience. Since the repair, the washing machine seems to be fine and I've not had any problems with it. There's also something going on with our basement air conditioning. We submitted a claim with AHS but my husband is a little bit annoyed now because that one has not been fixed yet. Other than that, AHS is something that my husband and I have recommended to other folks.

The inside coil of the air conditioning froze up. I submitted the claim online and I've called too. Everything seems very simple. The gentleman from Ace came out and he was wonderful. He has been here once before. Unfortunately, by the time he got here, it was running fine and the issue didn't repeat itself. But I had already paid for the service call. So, he checked everything over. It was some loose insulation inside my AC and we both had the thought that maybe it covered the coil causing it to freeze. It was just the airflow making it freeze up. There was no repair to be made. He just glued that back in place. Super nice guy. I loved him because he was here before and he helped. He could've come up with something wrong. Everything since has worked fine. The last company was also good. I would've gladly had them back before. Both companies were fine and just responsive as you can be dead of summer in Florida.

I then switched to American Home Shield. I've used them twice and everything's worked out good, including the one with True Master. They were professional, timely and polite. They fixed everything and because of the COVID, they were wearing a mask and stuff too. Also, I only deal with American Home Shield online, so I always put my request in online.

This was my first time to have to use American Home Shield, and they came through for us. On Facebook, I see pros and cons. Recently, AHS sent New Life Contracting to handle my AC claim and the techs from there got my unit running. They followed social distancing and mask-wearing. But then, we discovered that there was some type of problem with our fuses. Another company came and found that the issue was with our unit's capacitor. With this particular service, the first company that I was given never called. So I called them and they never returned my call. I then, in turn, called AHS again and it was at that time that they gave me the new contractor. I've had other things go wrong and American Home Shield has always been on top of problems. But it would be good if I could always talk to a representative instead of sending everything through an email.
I'm on an automatic deduction from my checking account to pay AHS. When I tried to call them to let them know that I was still having problems and needed another service person to come and check my fuse box, the reps kept saying I owe them. My bank had already sent the draft but it did not clear until that Monday. It is poor bookkeeping for them to deny service to a customer who has paid diligently every month and while knowing that the said customer is sending payment by bank draft, to say that I needed to get a new card was tacky and the reps need to improve on that. They need to make sure they get their facts right.

If they fixed something one time and it tore up in two days, they would fix again. Cost is good as well. When Georgia Boy Electric came out, they got there when they said they would and they fixed the problem. There was clear communication too. The electrician said some wire got crossed up in the ceiling fan and he had to uncross it and it worked.

I had used Home Shield before a long time ago and for a short period of time. Then, I saw their advertisement on television and I thought I needed to get some insurance for my appliances and stuff so I decided to do it. Submitting claims is simple and easy. I do it online. I had two plumbing claims that Doshier came out for. The first occasion was when my toilet had a leak. They did everything really good and fixed it. Then, I had a drainage clog and called them out. They came and the young man thought that I had an air vent clogged for my washer drains. He got up on the house and he couldn't find anything wrong. The sink gurgles when the washing machine spins the water out but he said the drainage pipe for the sink was clear and there was nothing he could do. Nothing was done about that.

He showed up early, which I love. He was supposed to be here between 8:00 and 11:00 and he got here a little after 7 o'clock. So, it was a very nice experience. We’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years and we’ve used them several times for various little things that have gone wrong here and there. When making claims, I go online. A person calls me usually within just a half an hour and sets it up and asks me what's going on. Everybody has been nice and polite. The spring broke on my garage door and AHS sent a guy out. He explained to me that the spring was not covered. We paid that and off he went. I've never had any issue with anybody that they sent out. When the electrician checked it, he said that it had come from the factory with gas inside that particular type of light bulb and sometimes they just smoke. He checked the light fixture itself and everything was fine. It was a great experience with American Home Shield. We had an appliance repair guy come and fix the dryer. We also had a plumber come. To me, it costs more money for them to constantly come out for the same issue. My air conditioner would trip and it goes off. The wires were burnt after a while 'cause soon, it \wouldn’t do anything.
When A-US Air came out, they have had to replace the wires. I had the breaker upgraded and replaced as well, but I’m still having the issue. It keeps kicking off and I even have to get up in the middle of the night to flick it, go outside and flick it back on. I've had at least three providers, if not more, that have looked at two different air conditioning units. The provider that I had here within the last 10 minutes did a good job but I was upset the other day because I was trying to get a provider back out here because the unit was still having problems. I called American Home Shield on Thursday and they scheduled the contractor for Friday. I was not gonna be here so I called and canceled. I moved it to Tuesday and then, I realized that I was not gonna be back. So, I called and moved it to Wednesday. All three times, I called and rescheduled, and it all went fine.
On Wednesday, when the company was supposed to come out, I got an urgent notice from AHS that my warranty had not been approved and that it was under review. I rescheduled all the way to the next Wednesday and then that Wednesday morning, after I came home from out of town to meet the air guy, I heard at the last minute from American Home Shield that they sent the claim up for approval but it hadn't been done yet and that the air conditioning company would not be coming.
I found that unacceptable on American Home Shield's part. It appeared to be that the day they were dispatching somebody was the day American Home Shield would raise an issue if there was one, when in reality, it should have been handled long before. We never should have been in a situation where I made a trip home to meet the air conditioning company several days later than originally scheduled and the thing is being held up by American Home Shield. The communication was not good because the air conditioning company came anyway as they had told me they were coming and were scheduled. But American Home Shield had not approved it anywhere close to the time frame for the call. It should have happened within a day or two, not on the scheduled service day. When that service day is almost a week later, they should let me know there's a problem well before the date of service.
Also, while I was in the middle of something, I had to stand outside in the heat at a retail establishment so I could take a call. I was on hold and we were trying to get to the bottom of it for well over 30 minutes. I understand that when you call, you go on hold sometimes anywhere you call, so that's normal. But it's clear that the folks they have answering their phone are in another country and it's very often difficult to communicate with them. Sometimes I've had to call my wife in from the other room to listen so we could decipher what was being said. I’ve had American Home Shield since I purchased this house so it has been five years. On top of that, I have another warranty through them at my other house, which I've got problems with air conditioners out there. I called on Saturday and they're supposed to be scheduling somebody but when I looked this morning, it still showed that they were trying to figure out who to schedule it to.

I have one that's outstanding from July 23rd for an electrician because we don't have power to an area of the home. The electrician came, couldn't figure it out, said he was stumped, said he was gonna contact American Home Shield to have them assign somebody to add more than one person on their team, then nothing happened. We were hosting 10 family members from out of state and so I called American Home Shield. They said they couldn't do anything until the electrician rejected the job, and they had 48 business hours to do that.
I called back again, and every time I call, I'm on hold for at least 45 minutes before I get to anybody. I finally got through to somebody and they reassigned it to somebody else after much turmoil. The next people showed up 48 business hours later. They only allocated one hour for the job and the guy said it was gonna take longer. He left and said he was gonna request more time. It was 10 days ago, and I can't get ahold of him, I can't get ahold of American Home Shield, and I can't request service in the app because it still shows that it's in the process. No one will answer the calls, no one will show up, and I still have no power since July 23rd.
My husband called and spoke to two people yesterday. They said they were gonna escalate it but nothing happened. So, I've had a couple of situations like that that are incredibly frustrating and I can't get ahold of anybody. And all I'm told is, "They have so many hours to do this," or, "It shows that they're working on the project," but nothing happened.
We do apologize for the delay in the electrical. We understand this can be a hassle. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I filed a claim for an air conditioning issue and American Home Shield told me the contractor was Hansen. I called Hansen and they said that it was gonna be three or four days before they could get to it because they were busy. They came out and tried something the first time. It only worked for about a week or so and they had to come back and do the final thing. This was during a really hot period. I wound up having to stay at my neighbor's house for three or four nights. The house itself got to be in the 90s and there was nothing I could do. I couldn't even turn the attic fan on because it was 85 or 90 outside.
The last two guys that came out were very accomplished and they knew what they were doing. It took them about an hour, an hour and a half, and they told me that right upfront that it would take about that length. I don't know whether the first guy that came out was new or whether it was the end of the day and he was tired but he's average. He would not be somebody I would hire if I was doing it myself. The last two guys that Hansen had, I would.
American Home Shield couldn't help the fact that there was a backlog. I don't hold that against them. I paid $100 the first time, and all the others were taken care of. So, I was tickled. I wanna mitigate any major expense that I would have so I will probably continue American Home Shield for as long as I'm a homeowner.

I don’t know if he didn’t fix it right but we had the same thing happen again. We turned the faucet on and water was running everywhere. My granddaughter was upset ‘cause she thought that she had broken it. My son was here when the contractor was here and he said, “Mom, they did not fix it. If they did, they did not fix it right.”
The contractors were pleasant. When they had to come back 3 days later, the guy was still nice but it was almost like he forgot what he did. He didn’t really acknowledge that he didn’t fix it right the first time. It was his assistant making it work and I don’t know if he just did some extension to it. The condenser fan of the AC would not come on but every time the tech from Total Air Care would come out there, it would come on for him. So, it's hard to figure out the issue and until now, it's not fixed yet. At first, he changed the capacitor, which made sense, but that didn't seem to fix it and it didn't change the context. Then, he changed the fan but the problem was still there. So, they came out and replaced the one they had changed. They were saying that the fan was bad because it was spinning like it's supposed to, but when I'm out there and I'm trying to turn it on, it won't come on. I got to turn it on and off several times, then it finally comes on. But when I leave in the morning, I can't leave it on because if it cycles and doesn't come on, it's gonna burn the unit up. They also said that the thermostat's working because the outside unit only gets on-off signal, it doesn't get a fan signal. So the problem was not the thermostat.
Other than that, the contractors were okay. I work this kind of work, so I'm not really going to be critical on them. I get the situation. But I'm not happy with some of the things that AHS was doing because if the AC was low on Freon, they didn't want to pay for the Freon. Then, if I put a brand new unit in, they wouldn't pay for the 10% of the Freon. So I'd be out another 800 bucks just to get the unit to operate if it's a brand new unit. But I'm not paying $90 for Freon and AHS should take care of that.
Also, the Freon issue wasn't explained to me when I bought the warranty which is enough to irk me and make me drop them and go to somebody else or not have a warranty at all. But when I bought the program, I was told that if the AC needed a replacement, it would be replaced with no cost to me, which meant that AHS would pick it up and I'd pay only the $100 deductible. This was also advertised in their website. But when I asked these questions, I was very misled by their answers. Despite that, up until the point of the cost of Freon, AHS did a good job.
Aside from that, when I'm calling them, the wait queue is ridiculous which would take an hour. I had to call them three times and all three times I waited. Then, I got to make a callback, and they would call me back two hours later. Their customer service sucks. I also talked to two ladies who were hard to understand. AHS has got to have people who actually speak English that I can understand. I'm not being ugly, but it's like I'm calling overseas and that kinda irks me a little bit, too. Plus, whoever called me back eventually gave me answers that didn't really give me any answer in the first place. They kinda evaded the question, read off of a menu, and just gave me a blank answer.
Hi Mark,
I would be glad to speak with you and discuss the issues that you have experienced to have the AC repaired.

When I’m submitting a claim, I've done it both online and via phone at different times and I don't recall ever having any problem with either process. It's relatively quick. This time, I called in my request and one of the nice things about this fix was that it was quick. Plus, the guy that was sent had what he needed on the truck, which was nice. We had had a series of hot days and there were lots of people having problems with their AC at the time, and I was very pleased that Bennett Air was able to come out so quickly. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend using them again in the future.
I talked to the guy and it turned out that the problem was the capacitor was dead. It's happened before and it's no big surprise. We've had a lot of storms lately, and one of the things that's bad for capacitors is dramatic changes in the supplied voltage, which happens during storms with the power going out. If you have frequent power flickerings, that variation in the power supply to the air conditioner messes up the capacitor or contributes to shortening its life. A few years ago, we had a problem with the air conditioner and as it turns out, it was the same problem. The company that came was Air Supply, Inc. and they were terrific too. So whoever American Home Shield is picking as the contractors that come fix my air conditioner, they're doing great work.
My home warranty came with the house when I bought it 18 years ago. I had two years’ worth of American Home Shield paid for, but I kept it going and it has been valuable. It was such a good deal the first few years, 'cause we had the whole condenser unit replaced, the hot water pipe burst and then both the washer and dryer keeled out over a period of years.
There are still other stuff that can break as well (like our dishwasher). The house was built late in 1960, and the air handler is original equipment from the late 1950s. It's gonna go at some point and that'll be expensive, so I'll keep American Home Shield until that dies. Overall, I've gotten my money's worth out of the warranty, and so I keep renewing. By now I've paid American Home Shield more than I have used them, but it's close, so I consider keeping it money well spent.

The temperature on my stove wouldn't set. If something is too old or they can't get enough money out of it, they’ll fix it if they can, but they won't get you another one. You have to pay the difference. That is not fair because the purpose of a warranty is that you don't have to pay if anything goes wrong. Plus, it was like with nothing out of my pocket. AHS also did the hot water and they've been fast. Even this last gentleman that came out, he was very prompt and I was pleased with the response. Maybe things have changed though. This last time, I came up and my unit wasn't cooling again, but it didn't go like it normally has in the past. When this gentleman came out, he said it was three pounds load of Freon and I was gonna have to write him a check for 75.
He was really sure that I was gonna make him a check for his money to pay for the Freon, but I told him that Freon doesn't evaporate and that there was a leak somewhere. He said he'd have to charge me $1,500 to look for a leak when he knew there had to be a leak. I said that's never happened before. The contractors usually go back out to their truck and somebody calls AHS and gets further authorization to fix my problem.
His thing was I had to call them, but why should I have to call AHS? Plus, the last time I called, I waited 45 minutes on line to talk to a representative. That was way too long to wait on line to get the service and something needs to be done about that as well. AHS always says they are working on it, but they don’t ever work on it. They’ve not ever added any staff. It's always 45 minutes to an hour when I call. That’s why I hate to call and that’s why the contractors have a number that they can call.
Long story short, the contractor didn't fix my problem. It's gonna happen again ‘cause Freon’s gonna leak out and then they'll charge me $75 again for three pounds of Freon. I also don't know how long the three pounds of Freon would last. He said three years and that was not right. It'll leak out again. Other than that, I've gotten good service out of AHS. My granddaughter and her husband just bought their first home, and I told them they needed to call AHS. I told them to work it into their budget somehow. They can't just not have that. I said that I understand it's gonna cost them $56 a month, but it's well worth it, so they've set up a plan with AHS.

Les Plumbing did a wonderful job. The tech was a good plumber. He fixed the problem and did a good job. He wore a mask coming in and going out. He had to get a new toilet. It works now really good. We're happy with Home Shield. I've gotten them other clients. My mother-in-law has them. Some friends of ours in California got a house and I gave them Home Shield and their number. Some other friends here in town are using them. I'm happy with everything.

AC Wizard came out and did a great job. Doing the claim with American Home Shield was great and easy. I did it online, and AC Wizard was out here the next day.

Kitchenaid refrigerator mother board short circuiting and repairman cannot find parts. We called American Home Shield 20 times and every time we get different answers. Every time we call we are on the phone for hours and no answer. We are on hold and listening to music. We are without refrigerator for two months and unable to get repairs or replacement. Very very poor service and they don’t care about customers.

A leak in my bathroom ceiling. Called AHS, they put me in touch with Infinity Plumbing. Dispatch ID **, it took two days before they could come out. Once they arrived, they said my water pressure was 90 and could not take any action without AHS approval. This was on a Thursday. The wanted me to pay $400.00, for a pressure regulator. In the meantime the pipe is still leaking. Contacted AHS on Friday, infinity plumbing did not turn in their paper work.
Now it’s the weekend and the pipe is still leaking. Finally I spoke to someone at AHS, no paperwork from plumbing co. On Tuesday, I think, AHS stated I was not covered for a new pressure regulator. I called and paid to have the leaky pipe repaired and had the water pressure checked (a week later) it was 78/79. I had to pay AHS $75.00 for no service. I think, Infinity plumbing thought since I was a woman, they could get extra money from me. AHS, did not want to hear what I had to say and just went on the info from the plumbing co.
I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved for the plumbing.

Scheduled a service for our AC unit on Friday, July 31st. We are in NC and it is currently 95+ everyday. Our service was scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th. No questions were asked over the phone of our issue or AC unit. The technician came and took a screwdriver and tried to kickstart the fan of our unit. Then said "the fan motor needs to be replaced, the office will call you". I asked if he could check the Freon level or any other parts to ensure this didn't have to be a multiple trip/appointment service. He said "can't really check anything else until the motor is fixed".
He had a pickup truck and no visible replacement parts in sight. He was kind and polite, but not helpful. This "service" call was never meant to fix our AC unit. We had to call "the office" and inquire about the ordered part. They said they ordered it and they didn't have an idea when it would come in. When asked why they didn't ask more questions before the at-home visit, they said this is the way AHS wants us to handle service calls. We left a message for AHS on Thursday, August 6th and still have not received a callback. They texted and emailed me on Thursday, August 6th indicating "Your job is now complete. Please rate your experience." I filled out the survey sharing that our job is, in fact, not complete and we are still without AC. No response yet from AHS.

Sometimes, if I have an issue with the contractor that Home Shield sent out, it's hard for them to switch to a different contract. I had a washer claim and the contractor that they sent out took almost three months to repair it. And Home Shield would never switch to a different provider. If they assigned it to a bad provider, I'm kind of stuck with that provider for a very long time. But my AC claim was a very pleasant experience. The blower motor in the AC stopped so the AC was running but it wasn't blowing out. I called Home Shield and United Air Temp came out when they said they were gonna come out. They performed the service and the AC worked.

The AC was backing up and it was draining into our house. AHS sent an AC guy out to see if it was an AC issue or if it was a plumbing issue. It was a back-and-forth thing and it took about two months to be repaired. I had AC the whole time but we had to put a pot underneath so it wouldn't drain in my house. Stan's Plumbing came out and rerouted our drainpipe. They were professional. Everything is fixed now.
