Arizona Value Appliance Repair came out for both of my claims. One was for the washer and then the other was for the refrigerator. I called American Shield to say that I needed assistance and I was told that someone would be contacting me. Then I got a call from the company to say that they had received the claim and that they would be sending a person out, and then they followed up.
The washer was working but there was an odor and a mold problem around the rubber part of it. The company said that American Home Shield would not cover anything other than if the washer wasn't working. But they just told me to leave the door open instead. So, they were able to assist me with that part with the odor. With the refrigerator claim, the tech came initially and diagnosed what the problem was and they ordered a part. Then they came back and replaced the part. Now the refrigerator is fine.
I've been receiving notices on my email saying that the bill with AHS has not been paid. I kept trying to pay it and then I’d try to call but I couldn't talk to anyone. I sat on the phone for almost an hour, trying to get through to the billing area because of those notices that I received and I couldn't get through. This had been going on for two weeks and I stopped trying to call them.
My experience with AHS has been questionable because I don't know all of what my benefits are. So when I've used it, I'm beginning to find out through using the process, what you can, what you have, and what you don't have in terms of coverage. I would like to have a more complete succinct listing of what is covered and what is not. But in the end, I did get my appliance repaired especially the refrigerator. I'm very pleased with that.

Everything was excellent with Main Line Services. Those guys were really professional, very quick to identify the problem and fixed the problem right there. They already had the parts with them. In one of the condensers outside, there is a battery that was out of order. They replaced that and everything started to work fine. I was extremely happy with them. So far, American Home Shield has been able to help us in the right time. They have provided very good service. Putting in a claim was also easy. The professionals were sent out multiple times to look at the problem and they tried to solve the problem. They all did that professionally then they ordered parts and fixed the problem. I'm happy with American Home Shield and their contractors.

The technician was very knowledgeable and professional. It was the next day after I filed the claim that they came. They had a cancellation and they called me immediately saying they knew we didn't have air. The AC was clogged and they got it working again. American Home Shield should cover more sometimes. But overall, we always have a home warranty on all the houses we owned and American Home Shield has been as comparable as the others that we've used. Filing a claim with American Home Shield is very easy. Even though we couldn't get anyone on the line because of COVID, the fact that you can go online to make the appointment makes it a lot easier.

American Home Shield has been great over the years, except for this last time. I have a basement bathroom in a finished townhouse and it's got an ejector pump because it's below grade. So, the waste line going out of the house is three and a half feet above the floor. It's similar to a sump pump what it does is once you flush a toilet or a sink, the water, the waste, pumps up to the waste line and out of the house. That got clogged and the pump burned out. AHS had taken care of that before for me. This is the first time I've really had a problem.
I called in for the service and they gave me the contractor. The contractor tried to hold me up for more money to come on a Saturday and under the circumstances, with a 96-year-old invalid that had no bathroom to use. I can’t get her up the stairs. I had to use a commode and it was really horrendous. I cancelled them and I hired a plumber from the outside. I spent $1,500 and I've been trying to get AHS on the phone to get a refund of $90 fee. Other than this time, it's been great. We've had them for seven years and I probably used them 10 times, and they've always showed up and fixed the problem. My experience is good. I won't hold this one against them ‘cause it was the contractor.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

The contractor was good. But sometimes, it was hard getting in touch with them to get things scheduled because they have different offices. So you have to call a 1-800 number to try and get scheduling. Sometimes, the young lady that answers the phone doesn't make things a priority. I told her we were out without AC for a week and she said they could't get somebody out for two more days. I told her there was an elderly person here who was having a hard time and I asked her if she could get somebody sooner. They finally got back out and fixed it. It is cooling now but we've had to put in at least maybe four or five work orders for the AC in the last year. I'm not sure why they keep fixing pieces and pieces of it.
I'm a little frustrated with American Home Shield, especially with the AC part about it, that they keep sending someone out to just fix it instead of considering replacing it or fixing it all at one time instead of having to pay $75 each time to reservice the unit. I had another problem with my refrigerator with American Home Shield. I had been begging them to send out another vendor to fix the fridge. They should do a more thorough inspection of the item when the vendor is called out.

We just bought a house. Within the first 30 days, we found out that we had three furnaces and three air conditioners, and two of each did not work. We moved in after July 4th, the hottest part of the year, and submitted the claim because we thought something was wrong with the air conditioner. It took almost two weeks to get a company assigned. I wasn't able to get through to anyone. I tried Home Shield's online chat. I'm on the West Coast. I assume they are on the East Coast. Because if I logged in at five o'clock in the morning, sometimes I could get the option to log into the chat and I was able to get on there three times. They said that they would tell the services to try to expedite it because my complaint was, we did not have any air conditioning and it was 100 degrees out, and we just bought this house.
We were upset and we were just trying to use our home policy so that we can get an AC. Capital Control did a good job. However, I was at my wit's end to just have a contractor come out and just pay for it all myself, which I should have done because I ended up having to pay probably 95% of the bill anyway. I had to spend almost $2,000 out of my own pocket. I was disappointed that Home Shield didn't cover more. But I guess they only cover $10 for refrigerant. I'm still trying to figure it out because the system needs to be replaced. It's not operating like it should. Do your homework on home warranties. Know what you are buying ahead of time.

The icemaker in the refrigerator wasn't working and the timer on the dryer stopped working. I called AHS and Jim's Appliance of Inman came out. My wife was here when the tech came and she was satisfied and pleased. The contractor made two trips out because they had to diagnose what the issue was and then come back and repair it. The dryer and the icemaker now work.
We've had three or four claims over the time and AHS has always gotten to it and it's been fine. The only complaint I would have is that somewhere in their literature it says I would be contacted within 24 hours but that doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's a little longer than that. Other than that, we've been satisfied to this point.

My experience with American Home Shield has been very good. The professionalism and work have been very well done. The only issue I've had is sometimes when I make the request over the phone, the order doesn't get transmitted correctly. So for example, I had a couple of toilets that weren't flushing properly. When it was given to the vendor, they said, "The work order only says one. So you have to call back to get it adjusted before the person comes." So I ended up having to spend half an hour with the hold times, and I understand with COVID-19, we all operate differently. But that's been the only hiccup that I've had. The technicians are fantastic.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

Myers Comfort Specialists of Montgomery did a great job with our plumbing issue. They were very professional, respectful of the home and the current precautions that we’re taking because of COVID. It was great service. When we moved into our house though, I had to have a claim escalated because they were taking a while to return the motherboard to our oven. We waited for six to eight weeks, so we couldn't use the oven for two months almost. I don't fry food, so it was a pain for us. This was four years ago and other than that, I haven't had any issues.
The people that American Home Shield has sent out have been helpful. The claims submission process is efficient as well. However, sometimes they'll ask questions that we don't have the answer to and them asking three times is annoying. I don't know what's wrong with the unit and that's why I'm calling to get somebody to come out. Also, although it may be an oven or a plumbing issue, those are the things that can put a family's life on pause. So, they should be aware of that when they're assigning technicians that can respond in a prompt and timely manner.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and thanks for you patience with us as we went through the process to resolve your issue. Let us know if you need us, we're here.

New Phase seemed to be responsive and they did great. Our air was totally out and they came out and got it back on. We continued to have issues with it. They seemed to follow up with them and took care of that. But American Home Shield was terrible when I submitted the claim. I had to call and follow up all the time. New Phase would have not been out there if I hadn't made the call. American Home Shield didn't follow up at all. The replacement value of stuff with smaller claims was way better than with the bigger claims. The sump pump and the dishwasher claims were pretty easy. The replacement value seemed transparent. But my issue with the air conditioner was that the value wasn't even close.
The cost that I was being charged for what was considered modifications was outrageous. So they wanted me to pay $1,800 out of my pocket to replace my air conditioner but then they said the value of my air conditioner would be $800 per part. But when I talked to other contractors and New Phase as well, they told me that there was no way they could buy the part for that much. American Home Shield framed it in a way that they have a better cost that they can get them for. The person I talked to said $1,300 dollars was the cheapest that they could get it and I was offered at 800. That was not even up-charged cost, which happens when you work with businesses because they have to make money. In that regard, it probably will cause me to cancel once I get my air conditioner in place.

During the COVID, it's tougher to get ahold of a live person at Home Shield, which was disappointing, but they have an automated system. I scheduled for someone to come out for my AC through the automated system. The system works well. Then, the tech from Excellence Air called and said that they had a cancellation and he could come out earlier than scheduled. He came out on the same day and he was wearing safety gear. He went over outside to the air conditioning unit and he was out there for quite some time. He came to the door when he was all done and told us he replaced a part and that everything should be great. We went upstairs, turned the unit on, and everything was great. I was really happy and I feel very good that Home Shield has a good contractor.

The contractors came out for my AC. They explained to me what the issue was and they repaired it. They told me what I could probably do in the future to prevent it from reoccurring. The communication was perfect. They gave me a heads up this person would be calling when he was about 30 minutes out. It was flawless. I've only had two claims with American Home Shield and thus far, they've been perfect. Submitting claims online was easier than calling because I just filled it out and they said I'd get a call. They're great. They've covered everything that has happened with the house so far and everything's been super timely. Working through the computer at times to make an appointment can be frustrating, but everything has showed up within the time windows and helped us out. We had two contractors that showed up, one for our refrigerator and the other one for our garbage disposal. We were worried that the disposal was completely done, and the guy was able to fix that and it took him 30 minutes. He was good and he was friendly and knowledgeable as well. Now, everything's working perfectly fine, still, so I was happy about that. The unit's a little old, but it looks like it just got stopped up. Sometimes I hope it gets replaced, but for the most part, if they can fix it, there's no point in wasting anything.

1st of all American Home Shield has great contractors. The problems is their customer service. I called on a Friday and the lady put me on hold and then disconnected the call. So I called back on Saturday and got a call back one and half later. The guy never did understand be all he kept wanting was my credit card. I ask for a supervisor and his name and ID number, he said his name was Robert and that all the information he would give me. So I call a company to get my car out of my garage because you can't get anyone on the phone to help you. So now I have to pay out of pocket.

HORRIBLE service! I am now going on 6 weeks attempting to get my dishwasher repaired/replaced and can't get anywhere with the company! On July 8, 2020 they contracted Sears to repair our dishwasher. The tech came out on July 11th and diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. As of July 22nd the part needed was and is still on backorder, so Sears recommended we contact AHS and request a replacement since they didn't know when or even IF they would get the part. After contacting AHS on MULTIPLE occasions, I keep getting told the situation is going to be escalated and I'll get a return call in 48 hours. Still nothing and I'm calling every 3 days! AHS is saying they can't take the customer's word that the dishwasher needs replaced and they have to contact Sears to confirm. However, their notes say the hold time to Sears is too long and they have to disconnect after 16 minutes.
16 minutes is nothing compared to the hold time with AHS, I wait on hold for an average of one hour every time I have to call them. But they can't stay on hold on behalf of a paying customer for more than 16 minutes in order to resolve this issue? I've never had such blatant disregards for a customer's concerns or willingness to complete their job. The total lack of communication is extremely disrespectful and I will definitely be terminating my service with them as soon as this gets resolved.

The experience was great in submitting a claim with AHS. I didn't have any issues. I had the contractors of AHS come out to service a refrigerator. The contractor was fine. I had to call him out several times over the past couple of weeks to get my issue fixed in my fridge, but they were good. The ice maker wasn't producing any type of ice. So, I called them out, and then they came and they looked at it and replaced a bunch of parts over a period of weeks. I called them out like five times. So on the fifth time, they finally got it.
They were able to come out within one hour 'cause they've been busy 'cause of the pandemic. So, it was just whenever they were available to get out, they would give me a call to let me know. They either sent me a message or gave me a call to verify what times, and then they would let me know about 30 minutes before they came out. They were really vocal about letting me know what was going on. Everything's been great since then. So far, when I call AHS to set the appointment, it's great. Even though the hold times are long due to the fact of the pandemic, they offer to call me back to get everything set up, and they did. I was pleased with their service.

The original guys who came in and looked at the AC unit were thorough. We tried to keep our distance because of Covid, so I was in one area and my husband was dealing with them. He said that when they checked the unit, they did a good job. The air conditioner was leaking and they thought that there might be some debris in the line, which was causing it to back up. It's because the condensation was building up and leaking down into where we have the unit into the concrete slab underneath the house. They blew out the line to make sure all the debris was out of the way and now, the unit is fine.
If somebody's concerned about mold though, ‘cause it could happen, people should be aware that American Home Shield fixes the problem, but they don't fix the damage that was caused. I didn't like that fact. When you call American Home Shield, usually something's already wrong, whether it be a leak or something else. I asked if they helped with damage to certain things, whether or not it be just picking up the water from the carpet, and they said no. Not everybody's gonna ask, but my husband and I have asthma, so we have to be sure that everything is taken care of. With the amount of money that we spend a year for American Home Shield, there should be something that would help.
We have the $75 fee that we paid as well and I don't question it at all. The coverage has helped us out tremendously, especially if we have something go wrong, but then, our carpet in our hallway was really wet and it took us a while to be able to get that clean. Hopefully within time, we won't see mold coming up from the carpet area. Another thing is American Home Shield doesn't help with carpet problems. Do you see the problem? My husband and I are both senior citizens. He's still working and we were looking at the situation saying, “Well, do we just pick up the carpet and put something else down that we don’t have to deal with it again?” but then there's another cost. It's very difficult. I can't get the damage fixed after it's done, especially if it's a water heater or an AC unit.
If the carpet damage is done because of water damage, the house insurance will not pay for that because it's not of a natural resource. If our roof came off, and we had rain coming in and it damaged the carpet, that would be covered. Because it was condensation from the AC unit though, they won't. If American Home Shield came up with a contract with somebody who does carpet stuff, even if they just specify they will only suck up the water that the damage that the AC unit caused, that would be great. But then they don't. There is no help beyond that. They said the only thing that they do is fix the problem. They don't help fix the damage that was done because of the problem and I don't quite understand that part. I'm a retired nurse, so I know what mold can do. This is something that we are concerned about, but we won't know for a while if we're gonna have problems with mold in the carpet.
Also, even though American Home Shield outlines everything that they cover, especially with our policy, I still have to call and make sure I know exactly what's covered. For instance, we have old fans in our house and, believe it or not, I have coverage for them. I was thinking about calling American Home Shield because we have a short in two of our fans. Problem is, because they're shorted, I don't want anybody coming in and just fixing them and leaving. I know electricians do a good job, but these fans are old. I want the option of having it completely replaced, but American Home Shield stated that if they could be fixable to work, then they don't replace them. I have a problem with that. I can't deal with a short. I don't want a fire in my home.
There's a short in the fan in my room and I'm sure the electrician could take that fan down, fix the short or whatever is going on with it and then put it back. The fan will work, but I don't trust the fan because it is that old. All in all, I've never had an issue with American Home Shield, but that was the one thing that stuck out to me when it came to them. Still, they're not a bad company. We just bought this house and they saved us a lot of money. When you're spending that much money for American Home Shield to save you that much money though, you want that extra concern.

So I have to call American Home Shield back and ask them what's going on. A tech came out and said that he didn't know whether AHS would pay for the fix or not but they could get me another detector. He said that it would be my responsibility to change the batteries in the other detector. He gave me a bill and said that he was gonna order the detector. I haven't seen that tech since. I don't want to pay AHS for that service call because that guy didn't do anything.
AHS is a little expensive and they don't tell me stuff that I don't know I should do. When I made the claim for my dishwasher and smoke detector, I made two separate claims. The tech told me that I could have put both of those in the same claim and I would have had to pay just $100 instead of $200. If AHS could lower their price or give me a little COVID discount, it would be nice. Still, I can call and text them quickly. I had an issue with my dishwasher before involving my disposal and their techs did what they needed to do.

We had to move from Arizona to Ohio and we couldn't afford to sell our house in Yuma, Arizona. We set up with our rental agent so that we could rent it and when we set up the contract for the rental, she requested that we get a home warranty for it. We selected American Home Shield and then there was a time when, according to the rental agent, the air conditioning in the home was making a loud noise. For that particular call, I was on hold for two hours, but when I talked to the reps, they were polite and businesslike. They seem as helpful as any other and they're doing their best, but they're overwhelmed right now. Other than that, Fleshers Refrigeration came out, addressed the problem and the issue was resolved.
I have a warranty for my house here in Ohio as well and normally, I just go online to make my requests. Typically, they give you a date and a time when to expect the contractors. For some reason though, I can't set up an online account for the home we still own in Arizona. I've talked to American Home Shield five times and we've gone online too. I have to get on the phone for my claims and I have to wait on hold. There was also another incident where they said they'd call me back. I don't mind being in line and letting them call me back, but they never called me back.
Overall, as long as I can make the request online and I'm not on hold or waiting for days just to make a request, it's fine. That's my biggest complaint. I live in a rural area, so sometimes, I might wait a week or two before somebody can show up and fix anything. I have a plumber down the street and they can't get anybody out to me for two weeks too. I had a problem with my plumbing and even if I call my local plumber, it's not any different.
For me living here, I don't think that I would get a different service. If I have a specific issue, I have to wait for an appointment and I understand that. If there was an emergency, I would have to keep calling around till somebody answered. I couldn't use American Home Shield. It's not their fault that I live in a rural area and there's not a lot of people. For general maintenance things though, I can use them. They're effective.

We moved into our house last September and we bought American Home Shield before we moved in because we weren't sure of everything in the house. We have used them a few different times and the claims went right through. Somebody is out in a day or two. Something with the condenser outside and the motor which spun the fan died. American Home Shield had OSA Heating & Cooling come out. They replaced the part and everything has been okay so far.
We're gonna renew with American Home Shield next month. I do everything with them online so I don't have to talk to them unless I need to. Everything's okay. The only thing I wasn't sure about is the price of our renewal is a little bit higher than it was when we first got it last year. They didn't explain but that's just with any type of policy. It usually increases the following year just like in with auto insurance.

There was no hot water so I called American Home Shield and put the request in for it to be fixed. The next day the plumbing people called and scheduled a time to come out and then fixed it. The issue was just a heating element. The hard water messes them up. The tech was very professional. He had to drain the hot water tank. He was so quick in the basement. There was very, very little water on that old metal concrete floor. He then told me what happened. So it was good.
The claims process was pretty good, except the part when you try to call them. Sometimes it's hard to get through and talk to a live person. You can hardly get ahold of anybody. You either have to do it online but some of us are kinda old school and we wanna talk to somebody and relay what's happening. But everything else went super, super great. Once the claim was filed, it wasn't too long for the contractor to call.

Seabreez was horrible. The man that came out here said, "You needed a canister," which I already knew what I needed. He also said, "But then in order for your air condition to work, you got to clean the filter." and that was $400. Being women, people take advantage of us. They tell us what we're supposed to have and probably I didn't even need that 'cause all the guy did was take a hose. He could have told me to do that, but for $400, that's what he did. They were only here for 10 minutes and then they left. It wasn't getting cold still, so I called them back. The guy asked if any cool air was coming out and I said there was. He said, "Well, when that stopped, then give us a call back."
They just took my money and then won't even come back to see what the problem was, so then I had to call someone else. I had to call American Home Shield back again for another vendor to come out and the second one that came was perfect. They did what they had to do and I haven't had problems since. It's not American Home Shield's fault that the first guy was a flake. They only do with who they know in the area and Seabreez was in the area. Still, they should do a little bit more investigating with the people they send over here. The girl was courteous though.

But there's a difference between dealing with the guy and dealing with the company because I had texted them and they ignored and they did not answer for a I had to call American Home Shield and they said it was because they made a mistake and they fixed it right away and took care of it. It was an emergency ‘cause it was hot, but Breeze HVAC told me that they could see me the next day. I asked them if they could come out sooner and the lady said she would put me on a list. If someone else cancelled out, she would let me know. When somebody did cancel that particular day, they came out, made an assessment and said one of the dampers went out. They worked on my AC. I am a single mom from a divorce situation with two kids in the house, so American Home Shield brings me peace of mind knowing that I'm not gonna get some random $6,000 bill. Submitting claims with American Home Shield was easy. We just did it on the internet and usually, within less than 24 hours, the contractors would set up an appointment. However, you need to be aware that there are certain things that you might think are covered that aren't. As an example, we had a freezer seal go out. The first time, it was probably a couple of days and then a day. This time, it's been probably about four days. American Home Shield has been sending out the same contractor. That first time, I kinda told the guy that the water was running. He was telling me he didn't see it. He couldn't find it. The second time, I was telling him it was. He said, “Oh, I didn't see that then, but I see it now.” I told him I told him the first time, and I saw it, but he said he didn't.
We were seeing where the leak was coming from. The water was leaking into two other rooms in the house so we were having to put pails out to keep it dry. If we could show it to them and they'd listen then try to find out what was going on, that would have been better. But my husband said that the guy was doing the best job he could. American Home Shield's service is fine. Lately, with the pandemic, it takes a long time to get through. But once you get through, the reps are courteous. He would have to come back and we would have to reset it. If I reset my Nest thermostat and I do the restart function, it works. They think it's because the Nest is not working so, I was asking him to come back after they get a part in and install a more basic version of a thermostat so that we don't have to worry about it doing that anymore.
It’s not like an everyday occurrence and Fast Response doesn't have any expertise in the Nest service. That's a completely independent company ran through Google and they were zero help to me when I called them. So, Fast Response did well. I’ve used them for other things. For instance, I just purchased a whole new air conditioner and furnace because the people that I would make a claim about my air conditioner and the people who'd come out and service it would blame American Home Shield. They'd say that American Home Shield would have to say that I need a new air conditioner. Then American Home Shield would say that the service provider needs to say that I need this. Either way, both companies are making money off of me and they're blaming the other.
So the service provider will get $300 to $500 putting refrigerant into my air conditioner. I’ll pay whatever every summer, which I got fed up and just purchased a new system this past summer. I got tired of everybody saying this person has to say this or this person has to say that. That's very frustrating. But I didn't feel like writing a letter. I just felt defeated. While I was weighing out the pros and cons, it seemed like everything else seemed to benefit when I needed assistance with other appliances in my house. Recently, my ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator was leaking. J&J Mechanical came out and the response was quick.
Thanks for providing your feedback. I apologize that you were not totally satisfied with your experience. We hope to only get better in the future. Take Care.

I called American Home Shield for an air conditioner that wasn't working. I was so frustrated because they had sent me someone else before and he was rude and disgusting. So I called and said I wanted my money back because American Home Shield is not doing anything for me. A lady told me that they couldn’t give me the money back. She put me on to her supervisor and her supervisor came on and said he would give me back 50%. I said, “No, I want back all of my money ‘cause I made two claims and nothing was done for any of them." He put me on to the area where they would give me my money back. The lady asked me if I would like a second opinion. I said, “Yes, I will use a second opinion,” because it was very hot. We had about 100 degrees almost every day. She gave me AJ Plumbing Services and they sent someone over.
I went online and gave AJ a 5, but what happened a week after that was it broke down again. This time, it was something else. It was something to do with the thermostat. I called American Home Shield again and told them that I needed them to make a second visit because I know that I had that time frame and they sent back the same company, AJ.
I give the lady who spoke to me to recommend AJ a 5. She was really awesome and so patient. I recommended American Home Shield to two of my friends. Matter of fact, they said they wanted AJ’s number. I also recommended American Home Shield to my contractor at work at my house. He couldn't believe it. He said he's never heard of any company who came through with a home insurance. I said American Home Shield came through.

They have up to 24 hours to contact us and the company contacted us the next day to set up an appointment. I liked them. They came out when they said they were going to and didn't leave me waiting. They also contacted me when they were on their way to let me know what time they would be here. Everything went smoothly. They had to install a compressor and so far, so good.

The contractors came for my refrigerator and my microwave. When they came out for the microwave, it was an easy experience. The guy looked it up and then it was the center. He ordered it, and then he rescheduled again, came back and changed that. For the refrigerator, the guy came and he was like, "It's just an ice that's stuck," and then he left. Then the refrigerator continued doing what it was doing and then he came back. It was two parts that he had to order, so he ended up ordering the parts. I had to spend a week without a refrigerator and then last Saturday, he came and he changed everything. Now the refrigerator is working fine. Both of the contractors were really friendly and they did their job. The only issue with the refrigerator was I had to wait a week without a refrigerator. However, they had to order the parts and then wait until they got here. So, it was fairly easy. Just a little bit of a hassle not having a refrigerator.

I had a faucet in a garage sink that was leaking. Home Shield sent out a plumber and he said he had to get a different part to fix it. Nothing happened. A few days later, I called and asked when was the guy gonna come back. They said somebody would be out the next day. The next person came and he was here for about 10 minutes and said that it was impossible to fix. He said I needed to move the sink out so they could get to the piping and he left. I crawled under the sink to see what the problem was and I found that I could fix it very easily. I put in a new valve operation. I thought the plumber who came in was disrespectful to me. He lied to me and he thought he could take advantage of an old man. This was about eight months ago.
I wrote a letter to Home Shield regarding the incident but I never received a response. I called and one person said that they would return my $75 but then I got a letter that said they wouldn't. That one experience was poor. Other than that, in all the years that I've had American Home Shield on a number of properties, including a couple of rentals, everything has been perfect. I had a thermostat claim and it was one of the new smart thermostats. The person from Delta T HVAC who came really understood its technology and discovered that the unit had been installed incorrectly that's why it wasn't working. He was able to change the installation and now, it works perfectly. He was very knowledgeable.

American Home Shield is wonderful. I always call to tell them what's going on and they tell me when the contractors are coming out. They've always been great. Because if they send somebody out here and I have a problem with them, I call American Home Shield and they always fix it. I tell them that whoever they sent came out here and stuck around for a while, but the thing is what they came out for is still not working. They would send another company out, and they won't charge me twice.
This time, I had to have two contractors out. There was an issue that had something to do with the toilet and when one came up, they cleared up the toilet for a minute, but they didn't do anything else. I then had to have another one come out to really fix it and it's fine now. I don't know how we'd make it with this house without American Home Shield. I've had it ever since I got this house and that's been a lot of years. When I got the house, I had the opportunity to get a policy with it and it was the best thing I've ever done.

I got American Home Shield through my neighbor. He's paying $69 a month and they're charging me $89.61. Their folks called me and I told them I have an old house. What they're doing is they're warranting everything that's a built-in and I don't have built-in stuff. I asked them if they do my microwave and they said yes. When I came to do that, I had to buy a microwave and they didn't cover that. Then I had an air conditioner that needed to be worked on. They don't cover that because it's not a built-in. They do refrigerators, stoves and hoods. I had some problems with my lights that they fixed.
With the cooktop stove, the contractor came and said that the stove was too old. They couldn't get parts for it. It's gonna have to be replaced. The fellow who came over here took a picture of it and said I had to call AHS. I've been trying and trying and trying until finally, just last week I got them. They told me that they had one for $484 and some cents. But it's black and I have stainless steel, so I didn't want it. I told them I was gonna shop around first. I finally got it and ordered one with Lowe's. It's a stainless steel one and it was $786. They told me to email them which I didn't know how to do. I tried to do it with my phone. I took a picture and sent it to them. I don't know if I did that right either.
American Home Shield is good but with this Coronavirus, I had to wait at times four and a half hours or two hours. Then they never give you the option. Right towards the end, they give me the option for them to call me. As far as that, I was very dissatisfied. I've been trying to do this for about two months now. Every time I give them my contract number, they say, "We're gonna put you on hold and the first available call, we'll get back to you." But they don't. I even threatened that I'm going to call a lawyer. They need to get back in touch with me and let me know what I'm doing or if I'm not doing right or what.

My washing machine stopped working. I submitted a claim on the website of American Home Shield. The technician that came was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the washing machine was not replaced. AHS offered me $438 for the replacement of the machine. For me, to get a comparable machine, we had to spend more like $700. You can't get a washing machine for $400 unless you're looking at a 4.0 capacity. My machine was a 5.3 capacity. They told me that that was the most they could replace was $434 worth. I didn't get the full replacement cost, so I had to pay the remainder of the difference out of my own pocket to get a comparable machine. I was satisfied with the service that the contractor provided, but not satisfied with the fact that I didn't get replacement cost for a comparable machine.

We did that and then the electric company told us to call an electrician. We did all those things. But All Tech was very good and very professional. They all had masks on when they came and we did too. They did a great job and we're still working with them. Overall, American Home Shield is doing a very good job. They've been very responsive. They came out a couple of days after and fixed the faucet on the shower that was leaking and then they put the faucet on the bathtub that was leaking. The quality of work was good. The air conditioner wasn't working and it was burning hot in the house. The claim submission this time was weird because two years ago when I had a claim, I called and talked to somebody, and then they said, “Oh, yeah, we'll get you scheduled. How do you want to pay for it?” Then, I gave the rep my credit card number. This time I did it on the computer and before it let me even take it to the next step and found out who was gonna work on it, it stopped me in my tracks and I had to pay first. I paid with my credit card, and then the next step on the computer said that I had been assigned True Master and that I would be contacted within 48 hours.
True Master did a fantastic job. They were very friendly and they took all the security precautions. They told me that it was the blower motor. He looked at it, and then he said that it was gonna take a few days to order the part. Then they came back a week and a few days later and put the new blower motor in. Then they turned the AC on and it immediately started cooling the house.
Having American Home Shield is less of a burden. When you have a full time job, the last thing you wanna do is have to find a reputable service person to come in. It's a lot of research if you don't have American Home Shield to find a contractor that's reliable. This way, you know that you're all set if something breaks in the house.

Then after a minute or so, it'll start up again and try to spin, and it stops again. It keeps doing that. The tech couldn't seem to figure out what was going on. The last time someone came, he did everything, and it would not go into this awful bad mode. When it would spin, it was working like perfect. He said it was fine and there was nothing wrong. But we've got a video that shows you something is terribly wrong with that machine. It's kinda like an intermittent thing. We washed for a while and it was working, but then it went back to doing this. Now it takes about two hours to wash a load of clothes. But the tech was really nice. His name was Martin and he did what he could. He apologized because he couldn't find anything wrong.
American Home Shield pretty much has been okay. We're still hanging in there with them. If they get this washing machine issue straight, we’ll really feel better. But right now, I have to come into our house four times at least, and the washing machine is same thing that it did the first time. I don't know what they’re gonna decide. But in my opinion, that washing machine needs to be replaced. The problem was the compressor. C and R put it in, which we thought went fine. And then, the same problem happened. We were not getting air. So, it took two more times for them to come out. And then, finally, they realized they installed a defective compressor. So, they had to put in a new one. From there, it was okay. It was just a mistake. We were happy with the service. They were wearing a mask and social distancing.
However, I've got a million about American Home Shield. It'd be nice if we could pick our own contractors ‘cause I know people in the business and I know they can get to me. One thing I hate is the contractor will say that he'll be there between 12::00 and 6:00. If I get home at 12:00, they're not showing up till 5:55. I hate that window because I always tell them that I get off at 2:30 then I get home at 3:00 and they can come any time after 3:00. I don't care if it’s nine o'clock at night. That fits my schedule. I'd rather them work with my schedule versus me having to work with theirs because I'm at work during the day just like they are. I wish they would work better with a schedule versus their schedule although I can be a little flexible. But I've had to take off two or three times just for the hot water heater issue. I hate taking off here and there for that.
I kinda regret going with AHS because my out-of-pocket on this hot water heater deal is almost $1,200. They claim that they only cover the hot water heater which is like $300 and something and the installation which is like a couple of hundred dollars. Everything else came out of my our pocket. I don't have a problem paying $100 permit from the city of Fort Worth with the city inspector coming out and inspect it to make sure it’s safe. But I had to pay for all the extra stuff that goes into the hot water heater like the drain pan, the lines that's about covered. The lady told me that if they can't fix it, they’ll replace it. That's very misleading when I pay a monthly payment and I'm still out almost 1,200 bucks out of pocket. I also had a microwave issue back in the day which took the AHS contractor three times to get it right. The third time, they finally fixed it.
Before the hot water heater incident, I don't have a problem with the contractors coming out if it takes them one or two or three times to get the issue resolved. I'm pretty satisfied with that because these are electronic, we're dealing with. It could be one issue, they got it working, and the next day, it goes out. It’s a different issue. But when it comes to replacing on the hot water heater and the out of pocket, that I was kinda misled on, it was very disappointing. Also when calling AHS, it's a minimum of one hour being on hold before they answer the phone. The other day I was two hours and 28 minutes on hold before I got ahold of somebody.

The company called me the same day and I was scheduled for the next day. They came out earlier than expected and the AC is running very well after the service. Everything went very well.

My AC stopped blowing cold air. Submitting a claim for it to American Home Shield was easy. I just called them and they hooked me up with a repair guy in my area. The next morning, that repair company called and set up an appointment. They were out at my place that morning and fixed my problem. The contractor communicated well and the AC has been running well since then. AHS has provided awesome service so far. They're very prompt and very reliable.

Huntington Service Company came out for a dishwasher that was leaking water. It was leaking down into my basement. So they came out, they isolated the problem, ordered the parts, and they were back out in a couple days. They did a great job. I placed the claim online with American Home Shield and I got a call in a day or two to schedule to have somebody come out. It worked out fine.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Please let us know if you need if you need assistance. Have an amazing week.

Our air conditioner wasn't working and Epic Heating and Air came out to check and fix it. At the same time, the technician found that the heater was out and put in a claim for it. They did a great job although they were a little slow. Also, we got a new heater, which we're grateful for, but it didn't seem right to have to pay $1,500 to have it retrofitted when I thought that would be covered by the warranty. That wasn't explained until you got the heater ordered. People don’t know that when you have something replaced, you have to pay extra to have it work. I'm paying for a warranty to cover things in my house and if it takes retrofitting, I would never have guessed in my life that I'd have to pay for it.
We’ve been with American Home Shield for four years and we've had difficulties in the past with different providers that have come out. One said that they were gonna do something but they never showed up again. When your air conditioner is not working, you’re waiting seven days. But other than that, it's been okay. American Home Shield is great in so many areas.

The house wasn't getting cool. Unfortunately, it happened on a Friday afternoon. So we had to wait until the following Tuesday. But the guy that they sent out for Air Boss was great. His name was Kevin. He had it fixed and back up and running inside about 30 to 45 minutes. Submitting the claim with AHS was fine. Most of the people AHS sends out are completely fine. But there have been one or two times where the people they send out are like, "This needs to be done." I am like, "Well, isn't that what you're here for?" They say, "Oh, no, that's not what I do."
Just this morning, about an hour ago we had a dishwasher delivered to us for a claim because the part was not available to fix the old one. We originally filed the claim for that about a month ago. It took forever to get somebody out here. When the guy came out here, it was like, "The part that you need is not available. So we're just gonna have to replace the dishwasher." Then it was about another three weeks before we got anything communicated to us. It took me calling them and sitting on hold for three hours. But overall, our experience with American Home Shield has been great. I personally have recommended American Home Shield to a couple of different people. But I also told them to shop around ‘cause there are different companies. They should find the one that best fits them.

I was very pleased with the contractors that came out for our plumbing issue. They did very well. The very day that I put in the request at American Home Shield, I got a phone call that day. The contractors were supposed to come out the next day, but they had a breakdown with their vehicle. They called me and let me know, and so they came the next day. The contractor looked at everything, he let me know that he was gonna have to order some parts and he communicated very well. My issue was fixed. There was a process to it. The water was leaking, so he came and he fixed the leak, and he stopped the leak. Then, he waited on the parts to come in for whatever else needed to be fixed. I was glad that he was able to stop the leak immediately. He followed back up with me too. American Home Shield is fine. I haven't had an issue with them.

My shower and the faucets were leaking. The problem was it’s 30 years old, and Sancho Services had a hard time trying to find the parts to it. They finally found them and was able to fix it after three weeks with them and after a week or so with the first people that were very unprofessional. The first one that came said that the hot water and the cold water were both leaking but there was a bolt that broke off of the hot water and he said that was from excessive force on it, but it wasn’t. It was just 30 years old. He wouldn't even fix the hot water. He said, “Well, you’ll just have to deal with it later.” I didn't think that was very professional of him. That was the reason that we disagreed with it and the other company came out and they said, “No, that was just the wear and tear from the 30 years or so on the part.” So, they got the parts and fixed it for us.
A lot of times, I’m not happy with American Home Shield. We had four weeks I was having over $100 water bill because of the leak. They could have just gone ahead and replaced it instead of just trying to find the part and fix it. It took us four weeks to get the part, and I didn’t agree with that. On another time, we had an air conditioner claim, and they would not replace it. We would have to pay a lot of money so we didn't go through with American Home Shield. I just did it on my own. So, sometimes I don't agree with some of the things they do.
I've been a long time customer of American Home Shield, and I even went to having all my appliances on there. I started with like $30 a month. Now I’m paying over $70 a month plus 125 for a service fee. I've been a long time customer, but it is what it is. As of today, I'm not satisfied with them. When I first started with them, I was. I had an issue with my pool pump and they fixed it. I had a heat exchange. They fixed that. But in my water heater, we're not even in the county, but we still have to pay all the upgrades for the city and I’m not even in the city, so we didn't go through American Home Shield. That, we did ourselves. I'm paying all that monthly and then sometimes we're not using them. We've been tempted just to cancel it.

We had a plumbing claim with Home Shield that Lake Plumbing came out for and they did great. But the claim that we had for the air conditioning was a nightmare. The guy came out and he didn't explain what was going on with the unit. He just wanted us to pay him $500 for refrigerant or Freon. We said we needed to talk but he left and he closed it out as if the claim was done. They told us everything was done and fine and we had to call back. We had so many long phone calls. I would be put on hold for over an hour and then they would hang up, probably by accident, and then I would call again. It was a nightmare. And we were sitting in 100-degree temperature. That contractor was horrible.

The gentleman that came out for our recent claim, came when he said he was gonna be here. He was here on time, practically a little bit earlier. He wasn't here very long because he saw the problem right away. He said he was gonna order the part and as soon as the part came in, then he was gonna call me back. Two days later, he called me back to tell me the part was in and he came out the same day and installed it. He also had gloves and mask on. I've had AHS for years and I absolutely love it. I've even encouraged my daughter to get it for her home in Vegas. She's one of their customers as well. When submitting a claim to AHS, I can call them or I can do it online. My hot water heater went out. I was able to push the reset button on it. So if I wanted hot water to shower, I'd have to do it every morning and then wait about 45 minutes because I have it on 100% electric heater. Blue Collar came out quite quickly. The tech was wearing a mask when he came out. My garage is downstairs and I was able to open it up. He did his work in the garage and we maintained our distance. He was great. It worked out well. I'm satisfied and if I need anything, I'd like to call them again.
The only thing that took a while was the approval from American Home Shield. They have problems processing my payments. I phoned American Home Shield and they phoned me four different times. Because the payment is from my checking account, I gave them the routing number and the bank account number each time. I also did it online about three times and sometimes they were able to process it. Other times, I'd immediately get a response that they weren't able to process the payment and I’ve got no idea why. They were able to eventually get my monthly payment and after a couple of tries, they were able to get my $100 work order to process it. So that took a while before Blue Collar got the water heater and were able to install it. But the payment process was discouraging.

The fella was very thorough about investigating the system. Unfortunately, this house has been pieced together like a patchwork quilt over the years and there really wasn't anything that could be done to improve the cooling in the part of the house where I didn't feel it was blowing out cool. It goes through the most convoluted long route to get to that final destination. It's like, "Just give it up. Go stay in the other rooms that are cool and wait until summer wears off." He did what he could, but he said if we were going to really fix it, it was going to be very expensive. It was going to be a major overhaul. I said at that point, I couldn't do that so we just let it go.
I asked for a number of things to be done 'cause the house was a mess. I had called Home Shield and they sent out a plumber who said he couldn't do anything for me because they couldn't find the clear-out drain. If he couldn't do that, he was not authorized to do any work. So he went away and I hired somebody myself who was a lot more thorough. He found out that something was put in backwards up under the slab. He didn't know what the fix was gonna be on that. He said he had some ideas as to how to fix it, but he said to see how things would go and if I didn't really need to fix them, to just cope with it as it is.
I made a claim on the stovetop because it wasn't heating up properly and I haven't tried all of the burners yet, but I think that has been improved. Sears came out and secured that. The one thing that really worked was I had all my locks rekeyed and that fella was top-notch. He saw all kinds of issues that I didn't even see and he fixed them all. That was great. Then there was the freezer where the ice maker wasn't working properly. The fella got a new part or two and reinstalled it, and it was working for a while. Then it messed up again so I just shut that down.
It's more a matter of me understanding what the problems are then pushing for fixes or not but I love that the call only costs me $79 no matter pretty much what needs to be done. There was something with the AC where the fella said, "Whatever needs to be done with this is certainly not gonna be covered by American Home Shield." I'm on the verge of needing to get an electrician to come out because a light over an entryway is filled with water. Every time we have rain, it spills out more. But I don't know whether I should call American Home Shield to have somebody come out and look at it and say, "Oh no, I can't fix it," or if I should just call somebody who's recommended by somebody who lives here and get them to come out.

The icemaker on our Samsung refrigerator stopped making ice. That was at my home in Marietta. A gentleman came out and did an assessment. He went through his tablet to look up whatever information he needed to look up. After he did all that, the assessment was we needed some type of computer board and an update. Apparently, Samsung puts out a series of refrigerators and with every new series, there’s an update. Apparently, we didn't have an update on ours. He said that if the update didn't work, they would pick another direction, either repairing it again or getting a new one. He said it would take about a week. So he put the order in.
In about two days, I received a text saying that the order had been put in and the technician should have it within a week. So about a week and a day went by and the technician called us. He said he had the part and he made an appointment to make the adjustment. He came in and he was masked and covered. He did his due diligence with the refrigerator and told us it would take 24 hours for it to kick in. After 24 hours, we now have ice.

We really like American Home Shield. They've been really good. We've had little issues on and off with our heating and AC since we lived in this house. We've had to call them once or twice a year and they've helped get a contractor out here right away. It's been a great experience. Recently, one of our three garage doors stopped working. My wife sent an email and someone called that same day we made the complaint and said they'd have someone out in a couple of days. It took a week for someone to get out here. The garage door works fine now but my only concern with the whole process was that it took the contractor weeks to find the part. It took another two weeks before he could come out and replace it. He said he couldn't find the same size motor. He only had one that was bigger then he charged me $100 for the bigger motor.

I had a second time fighting with Home Shield about my AC unit because it was leaking water. The first time, the issue was a compressor. But this time, something wasn't right. When the Optimo Air tech came out, he was there about 10 minutes and it stopped leaking everywhere. He even showed me what I had to do. He told me that I just need to vacuum it out once a year or every two years and I'm good. But I wish they had done that the first time when a different company had come out. I would prefer to have Optimo Air come out every time if I have an AC issue.
It would be phenomenal if AHS could enable us to get a predetermined winning lottery ticket with every claim. It would be nice if they had an option to pick which day ahead of time but I know that varies by contractor. Or if you had to have an emergency service, could you choose that option when filing a claim. It wasn't a dire emergency to have them come out, but it would've been nice if we could see if they already predetermined what company is coming out. It'd be nice to know ahead of time to say, "I'd like to go ahead and schedule this for this day," instead of doing it over the phone with the company. Other than that, the warranty is worth it, especially for electronics or appliances. If you can't pay for it upfront for the year, you can do it monthly. It's pretty straightforward.

This review is to let everyone know how horrible my experience has been with American Home Shield. I've been trying to cancel my home warranty for over two weeks now and it's basically impossible to get in touch with the retention department in order to cancel. I've reached out to the company on multiple platforms - phone, Facebook, Twitter, email, mail, etc. and have gotten nowhere. They place you on hold for hours on end, and when you do finally get through, the person you talk to either can't help you with the request or they transfer your call to the retention department, and they don't answer. I've also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I would strongly recommend against moving forward with this company if you're looking to purchase a home warranty. If you look at their customer interactions on social media and on the BBB website, you'll see there are multiple complaints similar to mine.

Great service. This is my mother's account, but since I've been in communication with them for the past seven years or so, they put me down. Sometimes my daughter would put in the request and when she does, she does it online, but I usually call. I prefer the one-on-one. I'm older and it’s easier for me. I don't wanna go online and go through a lot of pages. I just wanna get through it, do it, get it done and be done. Recently, I called and Amazing Plumbing came out. They were very good.
American Home Shield has been very responsive, except for one time. They must have recently, last year or so, changed their services. I had a plumbing issue last year and we couldn't get anyone to come out because it was over the weekend. We called on a Friday and they couldn't assign anyone. We had to find our own, and with me dealing with them, that was the first time that happened. It hasn't happened again, but it was odd because we needed something right then.

I definitely won’t be renewing my warranty with them. We’ve used our warranty 3 times and two things remained the same, the contractors had a “we’ll get to you when we can attitude” and American Home Shield paid pennies while we footed the majority of the bill. Recently our AC stopped working. The contractor said he could come out on Friday(it was Wednesday) and the temperature was already 85 degrees in our home and rising, my elderly mother lives with us. I tried to call AHS several times waiting 45 minutes to an hour, no one.
I cancelled the order and had an independent company come out and fix the problem. I called AHS asking to be reimbursed if the service would have been covered under our warranty. I was told No because I didn’t get preapproval. What? How can I when I couldn’t get anyone on the phone. Then I was told if I had talked to someone they could have expedited the service for 24hrs. What? At a minimum I’d have to wait 24 HOURS to get an AC fixed when temperatures are rising in the 100s. Please STAY AWAY FROM AHS!!!

My refrigerator kept turning on and off. We were gone a couple of days and our food was spoiled. We messed with the refrigerator and it would kick back on. That happened twice and we had to throw stuff out. So, we filed a claim to American Home Shield and their rep was good. Their guy from Repair My Appliance came and diagnosed our issue quickly. He said there was some kind of wire in the front which had a short and when we would turn the refrigerator off and on, we would hit it and the unit would kick back on.
The tech said he had the part with him and he replaced what we had. He didn't get our ice fixed though. I pointed that out but didn't make a big deal out of it 'cause the process for that takes a couple of months between filing the claim and ordering a part. Still, we don't have the shutting off problem anymore. Before we got this issue fixed, we wasted dollars 'cause we had to throw out a lot of stuff. The tech saved me a couple of hundred bucks if we kept going on without the repair. If we didn't have AHS, we would have had to either get our refrigerator fixed or buy a new one.

I'm so grateful that I ran across American Home Shield on the internet when I was searching for home-type warranties. They were the first one that popped up. There are a couple others but I did my research and I read all the comments I could find, and everybody with AHS seemed very happy. It took me a while to decide to take the policy out with them. I couldn't believe that I would pay my deductible and everything else would be covered. But I finally took a policy out not thinking I would ever have to use it and I’ve been with AHS for almost a year.
I'm caregiver for my mom and she gets cold early in the morning. I went to turn the heat on for her and it wouldn't come on. I'm not much of a mechanic so I was thinking what I was gonna do and I remembered the policy. The heating was covered. So, I used their website and as soon as I submitted the request, I got an answer back from American Home Shield with the information of who would be coming. It was the first time I used my policy and I was impressed. I got a call from the guy from Metropolitan on the very same day that I put the request in. I was not home at the time that he called me, so he couldn't come over. But the very next day, he was here. Paul, the guy who came out, was so friendly and showed me what was wrong. He said it was simple. Then he cleaned things up for us. He didn't have to do that. It's incredible. Metropolitan was fast and courteous.
AHS and Metropolitan both communicated very well and they were both awesome. It went very smoothly for me. It was amazing and I would encourage every homeowner to do it because it is well-worth it. I'm sold on AHS now more than ever. I don't wanna use the policy every time I turn around but if something major goes out, I have the confidence knowing that I’m covered. That's a wonderful feeling and I'm in love with the company. I can't believe that they do what they say they're gonna do. If you don't have a policy, get one. It takes so much stress off you as a homeowner.
If I could do a TV commercial for AHS, I would. When I told a friend how it works, he said that if they find a problem, they're gonna charge me for parts and they're gonna charge me for this. I said no and that if they can't repair it, they'll replace it. He didn’t believe that and I said that it's true. I'm sure AHS hears plenty of complaints but I am pleased with them. I don't even notice that I'm paying monthly because it comes right out of my account. They bill me and I don't have to worry about writing a check. I will keep them for the rest of my life.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We had two washing machines that needed to be looked at. One was in the basement and when the fellow from Saulter's Appliance Repair initially came a month ago, he said the issue was the timer for the washing machine. Somebody already figured that out, but there were two components. I asked about the noise that it was making and he said that it didn't make any difference. When he came to replace the timer, he was down there in the basement for about two minutes and he fixed the timer, he said. We then went upstairs to have him fix the other washing machine, which was an easy fix.
Three days later, I went down to use that machine in the basement and it immediately started making the noise that I had expressed to him was an issue before. We then started having the electrical smell, so I unplugged it and it has not been used since. The machine now is totally out of commission where before, the timer issue could be bypassed. I called the fellow back, and he was to come today, which he did. However, when I called him back to let him know about the unusable machine, he said to me that it was a new situation and I said it was not. I said, "I told you about it and this is what you said to me."
I also called American Home Shield and I spent over an hour on the phone. All of it was documented with times and screenshots of the time that I spent on the call because I asked for them to send out another person because the Saulter's fellow didn't fix the initial problem. I didn't want to wait the two weeks I was having to wait to have him come back again, which is not unreasonable for me not to want to do that. They absolutely, positively refused to do that.
Going back to Saulter's, they came today and they called to say they were on their way. We had our window of time and my husband was running 10 to 15 minutes late. I'm at the beach and then my husband got stuck in traffic. The fellow had already gotten there and he said he could not wait and that he was going to leave. I understand that part, but nonetheless. I asked if he could just leave the part and he said he didn't have a part. Why didn't he have the part? Today was another, "Let's see what is wrong with it" which should've been diagnosed initially. If he didn't have the part, they were going to have to come back again, and that would be another two weeks from now in order to get our washing machine fixed. It shouldn't take six weeks.
We have a commode that's running as well and this is a different issue. Because it's Kohler, I'm told it's going to take two to three weeks possibly to get the part in. We're now two weeks into the whole process and today, they said it's going to be two to three weeks for the part to get in. We're in the building business. You can make things happen if you want to make them happen. All in all, my experience with American Home Shield has been horrible and quite honestly, I'm done. There is another component to this, but that's irrelevant. That's my hang-up with it. I will be canceling this policy and I will be asking for a total refund of all of our payments to them because, it's bull what they make you go through. I am not a happy camper, and I really do not complain very often.

The first time the gentleman came out, the drum wasn’t spinning. He didn't have a belt on his truck and he had to order the belt. So, we had to wait another week for an appointment. The next gentleman who came in installed the belt immediately but at that time, it was also making a screeching noise. He was absolutely outstanding. He was an engineer as well as a repairman and he understood exactly what was wrong with me just describing the issue. He knew right away it was a bearing so he went out to his truck and got it. Then he came in and installed that. He did a magnificent job. Over and above simply fixing it mechanically, he saw that there was a bunch of lint buildup in there when he took it all apart, and he vacuumed all the lint off of it. I thanked him profusely for that because that's one of the major causes of house fires and most of the time, you can't get to it without ripping the machine apart.
The second gentleman was way more than fine and he needed to get recognized. I sent a note to A&E immediately and they sent me a note back saying that they would see that he's taken care of. American Home Shield happens to pick the right people. The claims experience itself is many different parts though. It's spending two hours on the phone and it’s getting cut off two or three times, which are both unconscionable. But I'm not gonna downgrade the people because the phone system sucks. I'm relatively happy with AHS. There are other people out there doing it but their ratings are not good. I give American Home Shield 120 bucks a month for two houses that are covered with this. One's a rental and one's mine. So, I'm paying them 1,500 bucks a year in insurance and for the most part, when something's broken, I get it done.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

There was water all over my floor. It was 6 o’clock in the morning and when I opened up my freezer, it was pouring water. I shut off the water for the ice maker. I made a claim for it with American Home Shield. A guy came over and when he opened up the ice maker, the water started coming out quickly. He said one of the parts of the ice maker was broken and he was gonna go ahead and take care of it. Parts were ordered. But it’s been two weeks already and they never came back.
There is no communication. American Home Shield has not sent me a message letting me know that they approved the repair for my refrigerator or that they were waiting for a part. We have to communicate with them and ask them, “Hey, where are we at with this?” My refrigerator hasn’t gotten fixed yet but they charged me the $100.
I also had a claim for my AC. That was kinda bad. When the wheel of the AC sucked up the air, it was going back. I told a gentleman that was not gonna last and that was gonna break. He told me not to worry and that I would be fine. The wheel broke completely on Wednesday morning and the technician didn't show up until Saturday. All those days, I went without an AC. On Friday, it was like 117 degrees. I got kids and a dog that can’t be higher than a certain temperature because it’s an English bulldog. It was pretty rough. The guy who came, Mike, was really nice. But it took that many days for them to fix an AC. When I called the company to see if they could send somebody else, they said they couldn't really send somebody else because they already ordered the parts.

My refrigerator was over icing and a technician from Astro Appliance came out. He was professional and he wore a mask wherever he was. He did some adjustments on the drawers in the freezer area, then he had to order parts and come back out. We had to wait a week or so for the parts and now, the refrigerator seems to be doing okay. It's icing up a little bit though, so I don't know if it feels good. American Home Shield also changed out a washing machine that already quit working, but it took a while. Every time we tried to call them and tell them which option we wanted to take, it was a five-hour wait on the phone.

I had a leak in one of my basement pipes. Additionally, the faucets in both my bathrooms were leaking as well. I went on the internet and made a service call to American Home Shield. I was very impressed with their site. Within minutes, I got notified that my request had been put in. Within hours, I got a response from their attending company A Water Solutions. The tech from there was wonderful. The shutoff valve in my basement was leaking behind our wall. We noticed the musty smell. He explained that with old pipes, touching them might make them leak. He tightened up my pipe and tied a rag around it just to make sure everything was fine. The rag was moist three days later so water was still coming through. I let A Water Solutions know that when they came back for my faucet and the pipe leak hasn't been a problem since. I've been very pleased with American Home Shield.

The guy from Arctic Blue Pool was excellent. He was very nice, very professional, and he got the job done quickly. He came prepared because a new part was needed and he had it in his truck. I was gonna try to get in touch with American Home Shield. The last contractor that I had come out did a great job. I thought my shower was leaking but it was actually the toilet. They cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling because it was the upstairs one. He fixed it, and it was great. Then I had another guy lined up that was gonna come and fix the drywall hole. But then I got sick. So then I called him and said, "Well, we'll have to postpone because I don't want you to come over right now. We're sick in the house." We put it on hold, and I was sick for like a month and a half. So by the time I called him back, he said that the order disappeared for him. I tried to put it in again and it didn't work and I've just hadn’t been able to.

My hot water heater died. The pilot light will go out every 12 hours or so. Wind Bender Mechanical came out and their tech had a mask on and wore shoe coverings when he came in. He also stayed six feet away. He tried to replace a thermocouple. But that didn't do it and they said I need a whole new hot water heater. Home Shield sent me an estimate of how much it's gonna cost to redo the hot water heater. But I don't fully understand all the various costs, like which of those are because things aren't up to code, how the process works if something's not up to code, and how they fix that. Other than that, I'm glad we have Home Shield.

I've had two claims with Home Shield and it's been good so far. The ease of navigation online is pretty good. The only thing that I noticed is that I'm not really able to give a lot of detail about the issue that I'm having. It's only drop-down boxes. A & S Plumbing first came out for the tub in the main bath and then, when there was a leak that was coming from the ceiling in the bathroom downstairs. But when I had to file a new claim for the sink in the main bathroom two weeks after, they automatically assumed it was a recall. I said it was plumbing and that it was a leak and they assumed it was the same issue. The site wouldn't let me specify that it was different so when the tech came out, he was kind of confused.
Also, A & S came out for three plumbing issues and on my work order, it says they have to get authorization to order a part on one of the items but on the website, it says that all of it is complete. I thought we were waiting for somebody to give authorization for a part so they could come back out. Also, the tech turned my water off for that sink so we haven't been able to use that. I'm wondering if it is complete and closed or if somebody is coming back out because it's not really finished. But it went well with A & S. The tech explained everything thoroughly. He walked me through each item that I had an issue with and told me what he did. He even wrote the details on the paperwork. And he had his mask on and he wore protective little things over his feet. Each and every time he went out, he took them off and put it back on.

AHS is awesome. I have other property addresses and all three of mine are under American Home Shield. They are doing good. That's why I'm still with them. When we first called American Home Shield for a claim, the Freon of our AC was low. The contractor helped us refill the Freon. So it worked perfectly. Then, after the storm that we had, it just cut off the main switch from the circuit board. That was why the AC did not work perfectly. The technician came, found out and he turned it back on. So everything works perfectly again.
The technician also had a mask on when he got into my parents' house. Because my father liked to watch the technician, the technician explained to him that because it's COVID, my father had to stay back at least six feet away. But he showed my father what it was and he was pretty good about that. So far, there are no problems with American Home Shield. As soon as I get online, everything pops up pretty quickly. I also don't have to wait a long time for the process. Everything's perfect.

When you turn the water on in the shower, it was pouring down from the valve stem. So we called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out right away, and he fixed it. They did great job. The first time I had to make a claim, American Home Shield was really good about it, and then they sent us a check on the refrigerator. What I was gonna do is put it on my credit card, and I was gonna pay for it when I got a check, take the money up to Lowe's and finish paying for it. I took it to the bank and they said, “This is referred to maker. We can’t cash it.”
I called American Home Shield, and it went back and forth about three weeks. Finally, they sent me another check. But in the process, somebody in the corporate office called me and said, “Look, they have a policy. They will not cash your check. You have to put it in a checking account.” I said, “Okay. But nobody told me that.” So that was the only issue I had there, but we finally got that situated. I wound up having to pay interest on that money because it took me longer to get it. Another thing is when you call and talk to somebody, the wait time is ridiculous. You call and the next waiting time is probably gonna be an hour and a half to two hours. “If you wanna hold on, hold on. If not, push a button and we'll call you back.” Other than that, everything's been good so far.

I called American Home Shield back and they said that was not satisfactory. The rep got on the phone and got ahold of Mike from Empire. He was here in a very short time and fixed it. They turn around, they call me to set up a time, and they send me a text message or an email. I think even both. I find it very friendly. The only thing is there is vagueness in navigating and recognizing what it is that I'm needing to identify, which electronic needs fixing or looked at. Otherwise, it's great. They sent out Mr. Rooter of Abilene and they came out for my garbage disposal. They handled that very well. They've answered any kind of questions that I had. They recognize the problem of the issue and they replaced the disposal. They had been out there twice. But they've been very professional.

Original Review: Aug. 13, 2020
This is my second time with American Home Shield. The first time was back when I was in Georgia, and ‘cause my house was brand new. When I moved here, I got a policy again, but I'm not impressed with the service. I’ve been in the house for a little less than a year, and I've been having problems since 30 days after I'd gotten the house. When I turned the air conditioner on, it would cool and then it would stop cooling. I called American Home Shield and then TJ Morgan came out and put Freon in it. It ran for three months and I called them out again ‘cause it was doing the same thing. They put more Freon in it, and then it started running less and less. It got to a point in June that it wouldn't hold the charge for two days.
I called TJ Morgan out on a Friday, and then I turned around and called them out again on a Monday. I then called them out again on the next Friday. That was the last week that they came out and at that time, because I was calling them out every two days, they put a leak test on my unit and then they charged it up again with Freon. The third time they came out, the guy told me to turn the unit off. When I turned the unit off, he went up in the attic, came back down and said, “You have a leak, and I can hear it when the unit’s off.” He then called his boss but he didn’t tell me what his boss said. After that, he went back upstairs and got the serial number and model number.
Two days later, I hadn’t heard anything from TJ Morgan or from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield and talked to somebody who said something about a part had to be replaced and that they were gonna order the part. They told me that I would have to pay $150 out of pocket and I said, “No problem. I just wanna get it fixed.” I then called TJ Morgan and they told me that they were waiting on American Home Shield to order the part. The person said, “As soon as they order the part, they’re gonna either ship it to us or tell us where to go get it.”
Here in Southeast Texas, the outside temperature has been averaging 96 last week and the temperature in my living room on average is somewhere between 80 and 85. I’m a 57-year-old man and I have asthma. I'm also a 70% disability vet and I had to personally go out and buy an air conditioner to put in my bedroom. Right now, I'm waiting either on the part to be ordered or for TJ Morgan to get the part, come and then fix it.
I’ve called TJ Morgan once, and I called American Home Shield twice, and I still don't know when my part is gonna be ordered. Nobody can tell me a date or time how long the part is gonna be or when I'm gonna get the part. I hate to call them to worry them and bug, but this is Monday, and I'm gonna give them till Wednesday. I'm gonna call them again and I guarantee I'mma hear the same thing. “Oh, the part’s being ordered.”
I've been with American Home Shield for a total of four years. What I’d like to see them change is that someone needs to explain the process a bit more. My problem could’ve been fixed way back in November, but nobody explained the process. TJ Morgan came out a total of about six times in less than 10 months. I started calling them every other day ‘cause the problem got worse. Otherwise, I’d still be dealing with calling them every month to put Freon in my air conditioner. I spent 200 and some dollars on Freon the first time, then 150, then 104.
I spent out of my personal pocket about $700 in refrigerant cost, which I don't think I should’ve spent, but I can't get my money back. I understand that I gotta read the policy and after the third time that I called the company out, I read it. The policy did say that Freon was covered up to the first $10. Most of my expense coming out was the $75 and the Freon. Every time I called American Home Shield, except for the last three times, I had to pay a $75 fee. That's not a problem, but it should’ve been explained as, “Hey, we're gonna come out. If you have a problem in the next 30 days, you need to call us. That way, you won't get charged another $75 fee and if we put Freon in, you won't get charged again for Freon.”
The last week that TJ Morgan came out, I didn't get charged the $75 or the Freon. If I was, I would have spent over $1,000 on Freon. The part is only about $700 to $800. I could’ve spent $1,000 and just replaced the part myself. My problem should’ve been identified a lot faster as well. It took the same company with four or five different technicians 10 months to find out that I had a leak. It took TJ Morgan six visits, a total of $700 worth of Freon and whatever else that they did. I have a college degree in political science, but I knew from the second time they came. When you put Freon in a system, and in less than six months you're putting Freon in again, it doesn’t take a college professional to know that there's a leak. Doing my research, the system only takes six pounds of Freon.
If I put two pounds of Freon, and then I turned around, came back three months later, and put another two pounds, somebody should’ve said that was too much. They could’ve told me that back in October or they could’ve done a follow-up. It could’ve been a phone call or they could’ve come out and said that. It's almost like you’re driving your car, and you got a 20-gallon tank. You fill it up on a Monday, and then you turn around and you gotta fill it up on Tuesday, and you haven't driven anywhere. You gotta take your car to the dealer ‘cause you're burning too much gas.

One more day, it would have been exactly two weeks from the day my air went out before we got it repaired and we weren't pleased with that. I tried to be patient and wait but I wasn't satisfied with the turnaround time that we had. They were quick when they got it but to schedule to come back out just took so long.
You can't get anybody at American Home Shield. We had to stay on hold for hours and hours before we talked to anybody. That was my first time. I've used the insurance before but I never experienced anything like that. It was the communication. I'm trying to talk to someone and it wasn't good at all. I've been in this house for about 16 years and I have probably been with AHS for at least 14 years. The other times when I called them out to do service, they were right here. But it could be because of this time and with all the pandemic.
AHS had just sent someone out just to look at my air condition and it had been exactly eight months. Within eight months, if my compressor was going out, the service guy should have identified that at that time. But once they got it together, they said it was gonna take about three hours. But it was less than three hours before the service guy had it repaired. Also, he was very polite and professional. I've been with AHS too long just to discredit them totally but that was just a bad experience for me.

The door would not close all the way and so I was a little surprised that I was charged $15 for the part after American Home Shield charged me 125 for the contractor to come out. I would have thought that that part, which was a small one, would have been included in the 125. I could have called 495 Garage myself and paid 125 plus $15 for the part. It was a roller that was stopping it from going down the way that it should. The technician replaced that. I didn't have a problem with the company and the guy did a great job. He came in, assessed it, fixed it and left.
I’ve been with AHS for a year now but I also have Choice for my vacation home. I covered it for $2,500 for the next six years, which it comes out to be $34.72. AHS is charging me $54. I was going to call them because I was gonna complain about the 15 bucks that they charged me. Now, I was also going to ask them if could they have a better price than this $55 rounded that I'm paying every month. I had American Home Shield years ago. They started out with $50. Then, they went up to $85 and now, they’re up to $125 a visit. Those were major jumps. I’ve got to do something about this rate or I'm gonna jump to Choice. I would like to see them cut down on how much you have to pay when the people come. If you're gonna pay that kind of money, you can shop that enough. I could have gotten a handyman to come over here and do it for less.

I called them though and then at some point, it started getting back cold, so I cancelled the appointment.
A day later, my AC did it again. I went online a second time and I got a call on a Sunday. By the time Steinmetz HVAC came out on a Monday, my air conditioner still wasn't getting cold. The guy said that it was because the fan blower wasn't coming on. He explained that when the wind blew, it would come on and then when there was no wind, then it wouldn't come on anymore. The oven should be arriving today from J.B. Hunt and J.B. Hunt and they were supposed to contact us but I have not heard from them. Right now, I don't wanna wait on hold for another four hours to hear that it's in process. But if it doesn't show up tomorrow, I will be calling them and then not getting off the phone until I get an email showing me exactly what's going on. Last I heard, they still hadn’t found an installer. I told them to talk to Vlado as they do installations and he’s great. He’s very professional and AHS should use them for all the repairs. The pump on our washing machine went out and Sears came out to diagnose it. They ordered the parts and said that it'd be here sometime the following week and the tech would be here to put it in. Then they called back and said that it'd be three weeks before they could get back out. It's crazy right now. You can't get a repair person on appliances. With people staying home because of the pandemic, things are breaking or they're noticing things they've been putting off.
Our hot water tank had a leak so I called AHS and told them about it and filed a claim online. Their website was simple enough. Then I got an email that said that they assigned it to bonafide Plumbing and that they'd be contacting us, but I called them. It took them a while to get the hot water tank in. I could have gone down to Home Depot or Lowe's and bought a water tank, put it in myself and had it done the same day. Other than that, they were able to replace our it.
It has been at least a month since our dishwasher has been bad. AHS said that I could call somebody for the dishwasher and I found one who could come out early. He came out, and then I had been reimbursed for the service call. But AHS said it was the main control board and they were gonna replace it. But I have yet to hear anything from them.

I had two different contractors come out. One worked on the plumbing and he was good, thorough and on time. He pulled the toilet pump cap off, went down and then did something and hit the switch, and it jumped on. It took him less than an hour. The other contractor was for the water heater. Both of them were fine and everybody did what they were supposed to do. It has been good with American Home Shield so far but it takes so long to get through to them. You're on hold forever. It also took a little while before one of the contractors got back to me. I called them one week and they didn't get back to me until the following week.

My AC was blowing but it just wasn't blowing cold. About three or four days after making a claim with American Home Shield, their vendor A-1 Quality Care scheduled me in for service. We weren't especially excited about that timeframe but they said they would put us on a list if there was a cancellation and they actually did come sooner. They had a cancellation and they called us. The technician came out on time and he seemed very competent. He was very honest too. He fixed it the AC and we haven't had problems since. It went pretty well. American Home Shield has been very good.

Home Shield was easy to use. I was a little disappointed that the coverage wasn't broader. But for what we were able to use it for, it was exactly what we need. We had purchased this new house. There was a sink in the kitchen where the faucet was leaking. It's a pull-out faucet in the sink. The spot where the hose connected to the head was leaking any time it was turned on. Our inspection report showed that the hot and cold supply lines were reversed from where they were supposed to be for safety reasons in two other faucet locations. We had them worked on three separate spots in the house.
I notified Home Shield through their website. It was easy to use and we did what we needed to. Home Shield that we should expect somebody to contact us within 24 or 48 hours. For the bar sink, Harvey's Plumbing & Drain researched what company the faucet came from and ordered the replacement. And then on the shower that has the hot and cold reversed, the tech took apart the handle and fiddled with it for a while and eventually got it. He said that was the hardest part. Harvey's was fantastic.

Something in the icemaker broke off and it had clogged up the back of it. There's a line that goes up the back of it, and the water had got up in that and froze. Kasey's Appliance Service came in and the tech took the part apart. He told me that there was ice in the back of the refrigerator, but there was no way I could see that. But that was the reason it was froze up and that was the reason the water was coming out the bottom of the refrigerator. He fixed it. He had to go get a part. He told me to unplug my refrigerator and let it sit for 48 hours and let that defrost in the back and it would do that. After that, he was able to come back and put the part in and it worked fine. He was a very nice gentleman. I've used American Home Shield for quite a while now. I've got it for my condos besides my home, and they do a decent job. As a matter of fact, I am a real estate agent, so any house that I list, I always recommend that they put American Home Shield on it.

Arizona Trade Masters did a great job. The time slot for the appointment was professional and they showed up better than promised. The guy was very clean and he was also very transparent. He went and analyzed it. Then, he broke it down for me and repaired it. He followed up on it and made sure that I was happy with it and he captured everything I was looking for. I haven't had any problem since. Also, he wore face mask and booties for the shoes, and he sanitized. American Home Shield has been professional, which is why I stayed long with them. This my second home with them. So it has probably been eight years that I’ve been with them. When I submit claims, it depends on what it is. When I can’t find the right one to be able to do the service, I call because I wanna make sure it gets to the right people the first time.

There were some issues with the air conditioner not cooling. The contractors that came had located a capacitor and the capacitor was what was keeping the unit from running. He replaced that and it's been good ever since. There have been other issues. There was a leak visible in our hot water heater. The plumbers that came out said that American Home Shield is extremely tight and cheap. He said, "We are told by American Home Shield that unless there's catastrophic water coming out and catastrophic water damage to your house, they wouldn't replace the hot water heater." We documented all that and I put it out on social media. People know how they're operating 'cause there's nothing American about this company. They even send all their phone calls over to the Philippines.
I had to go and I had to replace that hot water heater myself 'cause they were just surprised, even the plumbers that came out, that I had to hire to replace that hot water heater. I had it documented and we could see the water coming out. But unless it had to be gushing out, or it had to cause catastrophic damage to the house before they would replace the hot water heater. It's just our one term with American Home Shield and we don't plan on doing anything with them because of those issues with them.

American Home Shield’s better than the warranty company I used at my previous house. AHS is really fast with the response and getting an appointment set up and that's super critical to me as I want speed. When submitting the claim, you go to the website and just click toilet and then they assign you to somebody. The website’s easy to use.
We had a toilet-related issue. You could move the toilet around and we didn't want problems. A toilet’s not supposed to move and when it does move, it usually means that the seal underneath it is broken. I was assigned to SAP through American Home Shield. SAP called me and they set the schedule all up on the phone and then the technician called me 30 minutes before he got here. They were clean, courteous and willing to listen to the problem. But the technician kind of rushed through it to get in and out. He did not see that the seal was broken or anything. He just tightened two back screws on the toilet and said that it was good. It didn't feel like he really checked the toilet and made sure that the seal was not broken. But the toilet is not shaking anymore.

I've had American Home Shield for just over a year and I've had two claims. Both times, there had been no issues as far as getting service. Everything's streamlined easily. I just go online to my account, click what's wrong, and usually, I'm getting a callback within a few hours. If not, it’s the next day, so I'm not going without whatever it is that the issue is for too long. One time, I wasn't able to take a full shower with hot water. It started out hot and then it would be cold. AHS sent out the people quickly. It was a heating element and the company repaired it and then I had hot water that day.
I'm happy with American Home Shield and the only thing I would suggest is for people to go with the package that covers all areas. I know there are different packages and what they cover. My thought on it would be, "Okay, I'm not gonna need this or this," and then boom, that'd be the first thing that goes. I went with the one that covered every area. That way, everything in my home is covered 'cause I don't know when something's gonna take a dump on me.

I've had American Home Shield for about four years. I own two homes and I’ve had them on both of the homes. The garage door was not closing all the way. It would pop back up and with this specific problem, they responded quickly. And that was from the time I created a request till the gentleman was here actually fixing it. That was the fastest response time I'd ever received from American Home Shield so, I was kinda impressed by that. On the other hand, the most difficult time I had with them was on my other home trying to go through the process of repairing and replacing the air conditioning.
The home is in Louisiana and the air conditioner completely went out. AHS contracted a company out of Florida to come to Louisiana and this company was completely unprofessional. From the time I created the claim till the air conditioner was replaced, it was almost a year before it was completely done. I have tenants in that home and the repair gentleman showed up at 9 o'clock at night. He wouldn't have all the supplies and I came close to the point where I said I’m just gonna pay somebody just to come out and fix it outside of the warranty company. AHS said there was no other person that they contracted with in the vicinity of where the home was. It would be beneficial in certain areas, if they could expand the different companies that they contract with in cases where it's a great distance away.

My wife called American Home Shield for the washer and the contractor that came out seemed to do a good job. But we're still having a little bit of issue with it. With the connector that the tech fixed, you still have to put pressure on the door to get it to kick on and start. You have to kinda pressure your knee up against it and give it a little extra pressure on the door and it kicks right on. But it's working totally fine. So overall, the experience was fine. The service person that came in and worked on it seemed very nice and understood the problem. I'm totally happy with the service.
American Home Shield has been great. It's good to have because instead of having to pay $500 for somebody to come out and look at our washer, we pay our fee for the month and then we get them to come out. We had to replace our dryer at one point and the warranty was a huge help. We saved a couple hundred bucks for that. So overall, our experience with American Home Shield has been very, very good and we are very satisfied with it. It has saved us quite a bit of money over the last three years or so.

They did a bad job installing it which caused the problem that we had this summer. J-Tech ordered the furnace ‘cause American Home Shield didn’t do anything. American Home Shield is horrible. I couldn't get anybody to answer my questions. I asked for a manager and they wouldn't give me one. I got to the point where they would hang up on me when I would ask for a manager. The policy was worthless. We spend about 840 bucks a year on American Home Shield and we sat for two weeks this summer in 100 degree heat with no air conditioning. We're discussing canceling our American Home Shield policy and if we have problems, we’ll just buy new stuff.

The contractor was here the next morning, so that was good.
Everything went well. I had a couple of extra questions and the technician took the time to answer them and show me. He was here for 30 minutes. He had his mask on and we social distanced. We had our masks on as well. The air conditioner is working but it sounds like it sucks in the filter and let's it go hard. Then, it goes on. I'm not too sure if that’s due to a filter but we hadn't had that issue before. Still, it has been good with American Home Shield so far and I only had to use them one time. I’ve been with American Home Shield for six months and I got some issues recently. The day before yesterday, the AC didn't turn on. So, I submitted a request on Sunday night through online. I got one contractor and I called them. They said it may take more than a week to come over here. Right now, it's almost 100 here and I have three small kids. I can't wait for a week. It's very difficult to stay for one day. I spoke to a customer service agent yesterday. She told me that she would try to get another contractor to come over soon but I haven't received anything from it so far. I don't have any issues with any agent but the process is very frustrating. AHS has only one contractor and there is no other choice.
It's very hard to contact a person too. If I want to hold, then I have to be on the phone for more than an hour because it takes a long time to reach a person. It's very difficult and there is no other way to reach AHS. We don't have a choice. Yesterday, I tried one time for one hour then, it automatically turned off. I tried again. Probably, somehow, I was lucky and I got them after one hour but that is so long to hold on the phone and they have to improve. They have to have more customer service agents. Then they need to do some kind of online chatting, so that we can get them within a few minutes. I see chatting features even on small companies. It's very surprising that American Home Shield doesn't have this chat feature.

After purchasing a basic home warranty for our new house, I called to see what my options were if I wanted to upgrade to ShieldPlus. I really hope AHS looks back on that call record, because the salesperson I spoke with had clearly either woken up hungover or was drunk. Fine - let's say we overlook that because people can have bad days. But he couldn't even answer simple questions - e.g. "What is the difference between ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus, and what is the price differential if I wanted to upgrade today?" His consistent response: "I'm not sure." Then he takes a couple of minutes looking it up on his end and tells me that ShieldComplete covers everything. I reminded him I wanted to know about ShieldPlus (not ShieldCompletely), so he replies that there was no difference in price between the two plans.
When I told him that probably wasn't true, he said, "Uh..." and then went silent for another couple of minutes searching for the answer. Literally knew nothing. When I kindly asked him for his name, he gave it to me and then promptly hung up on me. Please - anyone - go back and listen on that call - for his sake, I won't post his name... but wow. I remained friendly to the end, but this was the most useless and incompetent call I've been on thus far. Very concerning because it makes me question how knowledgable their agents are in general... and makes me doubtful of future service if we ever need to call them about a service request.

We were members for many years. Our air conditioner had to be serviced almost every year, due to the AHS repairing to the most minimal fix. Finally after several years of AHS repair companies putting band aid repairs, in 2019, the repair company that AHS contracted submitted their assessment of our system. They submitted for a total replacement of the unit, which should have been done after the first 6 previous visits over the years. When AHS received the recommendation from their contracted repair company, AHS told us that they wanted a second opinion... I asked, "Why would you need that when it’s your repair company's recommendation?" No response.
The second repair company said that replacement was not needed. No surprise as AHS sent them to assure that’s the answer they received. We waited for two months for another bandaid repair. But nobody showed up and AHS repeatedly assured us that repair was coming. Then we were contacted by AHS and informed that we needed to obtain our own repair and would only be paid a portion of the bill. We asked why AHS can’t send their repair company. Our answer was almost unbelievable until we conducted further research. For the area of Tulsa, Oklahoma, within a 100 mile radius, AHS no longer has any repair companies that will contract with them. Not one repair company within 100 miles of Tulsa! That should tell you how shady AHS is when nobody, not even new startup companies will do business with them.
We talked to several companies that serviced our home over the years and they said AHS would never authorize them to actually fix issues if it meant any costly replacement. AHS is a sham. We now use Fidelity National Home Warranty. They replaced our AC unit with no issues! AHS, if you're reading this, we used to have contract #**. You lost our business and I truly hope people honestly reconsider ever sign over their money to you!

The tenant reported to me that there is some Freon missing. I called and I spoke with a live person from American Home Shield. Our interaction was fine, but I was expecting that he's gonna recall because we tried to fix that air conditioner many times. We paid $100 for them to it and they didn't fix it. So, he charged me $100 again. I told him, “How come you charge me another 100 while we keep calling for the same item, and never was fixed?” He said, “No. But that's been three months. So we cannot recall.”
Sun Powered Solutions came out and they asked me for $92 because American Home Shield only gave me $10 discount for the pound of Freon. I had to give the tech the credit card so he could perform that. I didn't have any report from the tenant whether that resolved it or not. I had a problem with the tenant since they don't give me enough information about what happened. They only give me information if something is not working. But if it's working, they don't say anything.
I have four properties with American Home Shield. The performance with them is not up to the task. I had another problem in San Miguel. I had a dishwasher issue and Sears was assigned. They came and said, “We have to replace the whole thing.” There was only leak coming out of the dishwasher. But they said there is a limitation on my items. They didn't say what kind of limitation, they didn't come back to fix or replace the dishwasher, and it’s gonna pass three months and then after that, I have to pay another $100 to fix it.
I'm not happy but I'm not very dissatisfied. But I really on the side of dissatisfied more than I’m on the side of satisfied because there is no follow up. I’m like the middleman. Whether an issue is completed or not, they have no idea because they don't contact me to say, “Is it completed, really?” I need somebody to do the job, but it’s not doing it. It’s kind of I need a warranty, but at the end, I'm gonna vote when I'm gonna renew. If I'm still not happy, I'm gonna vote them out like I did with the previous warranty I had. I moved two properties to Home Shield, but if the renewal is coming, I'm gonna vote out the four properties out of Home Shield. I mainly pay $600 to warranty the house for a year. $600 a year is lots of money, especially when you have five properties. It is $3,600. I pay all that and I don't get results.

For some reason, I'm not able to do it anymore. They haven't resolved the problem of the internet of me being able to do internet claims. Everything's good. I know they've had some problems with locating companies in our area for certain things before. As far as the company's response time, I know they call you back within 24 hours, and then they're gonna give you an appointment. If that happens in the dead of summer or in the winter when it's freezing out, you could get a four or five-day lag time before your issue is resolved which is kinda difficult. But the plan itself is great because you can replace your air conditioning unit for an $80 fee. It’s worth the wait. I've recommended multiple people to them.

We've lived in this house for 30 some years. We've had American Home Shield since then. I also own the house that my daughter is living in, and it also has American Home Shield. I've only had one extremely difficult experience as far as submitting claims. My house is close to 40 years old, and so all the original things are starting to wear out. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit. I have one on the north side and one on the southeast side of the house because the house is one level long and the one on the southeast side wasn't blowing hot air.
I called American Home Shield. They sent someone out. My only problem with American Home Shield is knowing the age of the house, they still wanted to repair this outdated air conditioner. So, the people came out and they said that it was some kind of pump, and they would have to take out the Freon and then replace it. Then they said, “But American Home Shield would only pay a very small percentage, and you would have to pay for the rest of it to be filled.” I thought that was not quite right because the whole amount had to be replaced. I started thinking about it. It's an air conditioner and heater unit combined and I had been changing the filters on the inside heater. The front of that case and the hose had smoke damage where it’s had a small flame come out at one time. I had not noticed it because my husband did that. When he passed away, then I had to do all these things.
I had made a decision that I wanted to replace it rather than repair it because of the expense that I was gonna have to pay. So I said, “No, let's just replace the whole thing.” It was $7,000 and it took about four months to get it replaced. American Home Shield was doing their part because they wouldn't pay for the full thing. I understood that but there's got to be a time factor where a unit is no longer serviceable properly and outdated. Two young men came in in their own private trucks to do the work, and they went down the hall and talked and talked. Then one of them would pick up their phone and call. They didn't know what they were doing was what it amounted to. The guy came in once or twice, checked in, and left. He talked to them, and didn't speak to me. When the inspector came to check the work, he implied that it was not the best quality.
The inspector spent over an hour checking it and there were 22 violations on that repair job. Also, before the the guys were through, they said I'll have to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a pump to recycle the water out of the unit. I said, “I paid $7,000 for a complete unit. It's there. You have to fix it.” They said, “No, we can't complete the job.” So, I went out and I bought this $50 pump. They put it in and this is where I got angry. They used those little tubes they used for the water sprinkler systems and then they took a little plastic tube and put it over that and connected it to the tube that was already there to make the connection to make it go out of the house.
One day, there was water in my hallway. That was when I realized that it wasn’t all done. So, that was a fiasco that should never have happened to anybody at any time. I don't know how AHS vets their companies, but they should have some kind of rating. If it was a new company and they didn't have any rating, I can understand. This is in the middle of the summer in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was 110 and 112 degree weather. I'm just fortunate I had a second unit and I can sleep in my family room on the other side of the house.
That was a horrible thing. There should be a life expectancy of any item. When it exceeds that beyond, there’s gotta be a place where you can say, “Okay, you've had this long enough.” I've paid for more than one air conditioner living here 30 years so it's not a matter of that. It’s a matter of taking pride in AHS' company and doing the job that their customers deserve. They're in the business for money. I worked in customer service for 22 and a half years. If you want to be an excellent place, you have to give excellent service. Still, I've been happy with them so far.

A home warranty is always important. I'm a Realtor with Coldwell Banker here in Houston. I’m very familiar with American Home Shield and I suggest them all the time. I have an in-house kinda rep who comes and speaks to us. I have the warranty too and they usually handle things pretty quickly. I usually get a call back from somebody within a couple of hours, which is not very long at all. They sent out 3 Boys Appliance Repair for my dishwasher claim and they did a good job. They fixed my dishwasher and taught me a couple of things about my dishwasher that I didn't know. I have yet to have a poor experience. I even had another call after the 3 Boys Appliance came for the dishwasher. My oven burned up a cooling fan just a couple of weeks ago so they came and fixed that. That was good. I'm glad because removing a double oven out of a wall and trying to hold it would be miserable.

The toilet wasn't flushing completely and there was also a leak behind the shower. I was not impressed with the previous other people that came before for the leak in the bathroom. The guy said that it was an air conditioner problem. I told him that I had a leak with that as well. He said he gotta follow exactly what the ticket says, “Leak in this bathroom only.” He said that I have to make another claim. He was lazy. He smelled like cigarettes and was not friendly nor informative. He said that it was not his problem or it was not something he'd handle. I have to pay 75 again.
Then Sewer Medic came out and they were absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, and fantastic. They walked me through and told me what they were doing and why. I could not recommend them enough. They fixed everything and followed-up two days later and that if the air conditioning isn't running as cool, give them a call and they'd come right back. They wanted to make sure my experience is good.
American Home Shield makes it easy in doing claims online but I'm old school so I'd like to speak to a person. But I understand with the pandemic, the wait time is like an hour to two hours and there are limited staff. That's a little disappointing. However, I'm gonna renew and I'm happy with the service. AHS very inclusive, they have everything except the kitchen sink on it. I think they need to have that on the policy. Overall, they are great.

The bottom of my water heater rotted out. After I lost hot water, I lost water pressure and noticed a puddle on the floor of my basement. So, I called Home Shield. I just had to wait for five minutes. It was easy to get through and set up a request. It was on a Saturday. I went that Sunday. I got a call at work early Monday morning and the contractor, Moos Residential and Commercial Plumbing met me in the house. I understand being on a Saturday, no one wants to work on a Sunday but Moos came right away Monday morning. That was perfect. Moos was very efficient and clean and got me taken care of right away. I'm very happy with them.

We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.
