American Home Shield sent Cornerstone Plumbing for a plumbing issue. It was a sink that was downstairs and it was overflowing underneath the house. There was a leak somehow on the pipe. So when the water was draining down, it was going underneath the house. You could hear it going there. So Cornerstone came and fixed that. American Home Shield has been a very good company. I've used them three times over the years. They always referred professionals to work on the project.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Our refrigerator went out and Home Shield said they couldn't find a contractor. Then, they booked us an appointment with a company that they weren't even affiliated with. We called the contractor and they they haven't worked with Home Shield in over a year. Home Shield said they would find us somebody else and we waited for about a month and a half. I got frustrated and tired of the runaround. Every claim we put in with Home Shield was almost like a fight to get stuff done. I'm tired of it. We've cancelled our contract with them and went with somebody else.

American Home Shield has been out on two appliances. The latest one was a microwave. The door wouldn't close and they came out promptly and fixed it the same day. They did great. However, I had an issue before my microwave and it was not a good experience at all. It was before the Coronavirus, so that didn't factor into the delays. My oven wasn't working properly. I already knew that the parts were not available anymore because I googled it and looked at a few things. It was an older oven and the plant in Japan had been destroyed. I was told this by a repair place that sells parts here. Antech Appliances came out, inspected the oven and decided that they were gonna order parts for it. They went back and they didn't call. They ordered the parts and I waited a month.
I would call them multiple times and sometimes, they wouldn't answer. It would go to voicemail, and I’d leave a voicemail. I wasn't bugging them every two days or anything like that. I'd wait a week and ask for an update. They would never call me and give me an update and then they would be evasive. They'd also say they put the order in for the part, but they didn't know when it was gonna come and they haven't heard anything. I'd have to ask to speak to a manager and the person I was talking to would say they wouldn't know any more than the information they were giving me. Six weeks, the parts still hadn't come in. When the guy finally came back out with the parts, they didn't work. He said, in his opinion, I needed a new oven.
The technician was really great. He went back and made the recommendation, but they weren't giving me satisfactory answers. They were not communicating. I finally had to get ahold of American Home Shield and lodge a complaint that Antech wasn't returning my calls. American Home Shield then said they were gonna replace it, but it took a long time. I was without an oven for almost two months. Anyway, American Home Shield gave me my choices. They told me to go ahead and make my choice. I did it through the website with American Home Shield and once I ordered the unit, I then decided to go with an upgrade. I paid for the upgrade, and then someone was out and had it installed in a week. That was quick.
Who American Home Shield picks to service the appliances is where the lack of communication comes in. They didn't seem to even care and they were hard to get ahold of. I also had a plumbing issue that American Home Shield took care of, but I'm not happy about that at all as well. My faucet broke in the kitchen and I had a very nice faucet in there. When the plumber came out, he thought he could fix it, but then when he evaluated it, he said he couldn't. He was gonna have to replace the faucet and I told him that I wanted something that was gonna be near equal. I would even be willing to pay for the upgrade.
When I called to see when they were coming, I asked them to tell me what kind of faucet they were gonna replace it with. He said they couldn't tell me that. When he picks it up, that's when he finds out what it is. It was a junky faucet that was replacing a $350 one, but I had no choice. It's very cheap and if said they only covered 100 or 150, I would have paid for the upgrade.
The other thing was they charged me an extra $100 to take out the garbage disposal, so the plumber could put the faucet in. My son-in-law said it was a $70-faucet tops and I don't see the benefit there. Like most people in their kitchen have a garbage disposal, I have one. It's not like I've got some weird garbage disposal, but removing it and putting it back in was an extra charge. Still, I recommended American Home Shield to my daughter and son-in-law and they also purchased it. They are working with American Home Shield and they just had them out and had a good experience.

Submitting claims through American Home Shield has been terrible. It takes about an hour and a half to submit a claim on the phone. Sometimes, I call and I'm on hold for 55 minutes, and they’ll just hang up on me. Then sometimes, if I do an automated claim, I can’t submit more than one claim. I’m only allowed of making one. So then, the contractor gets here and he says that I only set him up to one item and can't do all of them. There is no customer experience right now. I'm one of the top Realtors in Texas. I have referred a lot to AHS and I'm not doing it anymore.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I booked the service with AHS online, which was great. It was very simple to use. Then immediately, someone from Cabot called me. So it seemed like the B2B relationship was excellent. They came out in a timely fashion and were able to get our AC working again in a couple of days. They wore masks, and we wore masks. We maintained some physical distancing when we could. It was good. We are new homeowners, so it was very grade-school level for us to understand what was wrong and what needed fixed. But they sat down and took about 30 minutes and talked with us about things to expect and laid out the bases for us. So I really appreciated that.

The pump was making a strange noise, so we put an online request to AHS, which works really well. We got an email saying that they had gotten our request and they had assigned South Tampa Pool and Spa to us. The pool company then called us and told us when they'd be out. They came out the following day, replaced the motor and did an excellent job. They handled it really great. The guy did it right there and he resolved it. Now, it's running perfectly.
We’ve been very happy with American Home Shield. We moved down here to Tampa about three years ago and we've had it three years here as well. We were with them all the way back in Maryland, which could be almost 20 years. We had such a good experience with them that when we saw that it was available here, we got it. They make things very easy with the online platform, and they've been very responsive. I love what they’re doing.

I sit at home, my husband complains, and I log on and submit a claim right there. It's super easy. I love it. Cool & Cozy came out and the tech was very knowledgeable. He let me know how things worked and what I can do with the AC unit to keep it running on my own, and was generally very informative, which is very nice because most of the guys showed up, pointed out the problem, that was it and away they went. But this guy understands. He's a breath of fresh air. I told him I'm gonna keep his name and number because he's local, and I didn't know about him.
Home Shield has been a benefit so far. Unfortunately, we haven't had the company that we used to get sent to us for everything all year. I'm of talking to a bunch of people about it. From what I understand is we paid a whole lot more than we should have. The previous contractors figured out how to get around Home Shield's warranty rates. Cool & Cozy's tech informed me that he finished a couple of the other people's jobs and the people were so happy because they thought they have to pay thousands of dollars. And I asked, “You mean I wouldn't have had to pay?” He said, “Oh, no. And a lot of people don't know that.” He was extremely helpful and caring.

We had water building up underneath the AC unit and the condenser was clogged and Liberty Plumbing & Heating & Air Conditioning came and cleared. I let American Home Shield know that I was having the issue through their website. It was good and easy to use. Then I was told that the contractors would contact me within 24 hours to schedule an appointment. It was over a weekend. So I called American Home Shield because I hadn't heard from them and they that clarified those were business hours. Liberty Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning was good. It seemed like they got a nudge from American Home Shield and they called me and scheduled me for the next day. They fixed the AC so I was happy. Everything has been good.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

My air conditioner stopped cooling and since it's running in the 90s around here, we kinda depend on air conditioning. I called Home Shield and they sent out Grady's. A very nice man came out and replaced a part. He told me there was nothing wrong with my air conditioner and that it was in the electrical system. Then, I called an electrician and he said it's a city connection. The city hooked me up with temporary electricity and they are currently digging up my yard putting a new line in. Home Shield has been very nice and very helpful. I'm glad my son talked me into getting a warranty with them.

I called American Home Shield to report that my washer was not working and they were gonna send somebody out. But the contractor was not gonna be able to come for two weeks. It was the first day that they told me and I was frustrated because that was not good. We were all home and we couldn’t go out. We couldn’t wash our clothes for two weeks. Finally, AHS reached out to the company and they came three days later. A couple of parts were needed and one of the parts was not available anymore. So, they said that they couldn’t repair my washer. AHS replaced it. I first reported the issue on June 9th and I got my new washer in July. The first company was gonna be closed so AHS called somebody else. The technicians came out and they said that the water valve was leaking. They also said that if I did not replace it and if I had any more issues, AHS would not cover it because I had a leak.
Ahs sent somebody out to do a second evaluation and they said that there was a leak. But if I wanna replace it, some of the work is not gonna be covered, which will be between $400 to $500. If I still wanted to do it, I would need to contact AHS, who called me back a couple of days later and asked me if I wanted to continue with the work. I said yes and that I needed to continue with the work. I needed the washer to be covered. It's new and if something happens in six months because the new washer doesn't work out, I don't wanna be told that something's not covered because I didn’t replace the valve.
The technicians came yesterday to replace a valve. They cut the drywall and put the new valve, but they said they don't do the drywall. My washer is in the garage and it’s working now but I can't put them in until the drywall is covered up. I'm not sure if it's AHS or the company who will come and finish the job so I can continue to put my washer and dryer back in. It's gonna be 13 years that I've been with AHS and I understand that the world is under a new norm but when I called, I was on hold for two hours. I couldn't hang up because I needed my washer replaced. The hold is continuous but I see AHS advertising for more customers. I did a search to find a new company and AHS was the first one that came up on my link. Within five minutes, they called me because they wanted my business but I didn't want them. I wanted a new company.

Kempker Plumbing took care of changing a couple of valves and the spigot on the house that leaked on the inside. I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield and they said that I would have to make contact with them to come out to the house. I would have to make the arrangements to finalize the claim. The reps knew what they were doing and they were probably one of the better plumbers that I ever dealt with. Since they came out, I haven’t had any issues and there are no more leaks. The experience was very good.

Mr. Plumber came out, and I told them there was a leak and stoppage. The stoppage was on the ground floor, and the leak was on the top floor. The tech said, “I don't hear anything. That's just the water dripping into the pipe.” Then he said that the stoppage was already cleared and that I already paid a plumber to clear it. I said, “Well, I don't know if they cleared it right. And I just want to make sure it is clear, clear.” So he said, “Well, I'm not coming here to do maintenance. I'm just coming here to clear it if it's stopped.” He said he couldn't do it. I felt uneasy when they left, and that was why I asked for them to come back to check it again because I felt like he didn't want to do it.
They came back out and the tech did detect a leak from upstairs. He couldn’t see the water, he didn't know where the water was coming from, but he could hear it. He looked for it in my apartment and in the tenant's apartment to see if he could see anything coming down. He couldn't find anything. He said, “The next thing would be to open the wall.” I said, “Well, I don't really want to open up a wall if you're saying that it could be just leaking into the pipe. Then, you know, I’m opening up a can of worms. So, I guess when I see water, I'll open it there, like we did for leaks before that were in my house.”
I asked him to check the stoppage again, and he said he wasn't going to because that would be a maintenance. I don't know if I still have a stoppage or not. The stoppage caused a huge flood to the basement, and I had to rip the ceiling off half of the basement. That was why I'm so concerned about it. So I told him, “Can you please take that into consideration? I don't want it to happen again. I have to rebuild, and I want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. So can you just make it and make sure it's going through?”
He was gonna put a hose to make sure that there was water going through the flow. I told him, “I understand that you want to put the hose but there's a washing machine that's connected. So the pressure of the washing machine of the water going into it when it's like rinsing or whatever, is a lot stronger than the hose you're gonna use. It's three times stronger the pressure of the water. So I just want to make sure.” I'm afraid to use my washing machine.
I've had other claims before with American Home Shield, and the plumbers they've sent were lazy. If they had to look for a leak or what, they get frustrated. I tried to direct them into where I think it was going, and they told me it was just the hot water pipe making a noise. Then, three weeks later, when I had them come back again, it was exactly where I told them it was. It's also really frustrating getting American Home Shield on the phone. It takes about 45 minutes to over an hour to get them on the phone. Then when you get them on the phone and you're explaining something that happened, it's almost like you're telling them for the first time. They have notes but they don't read them and it's really draining.

There was no air conditioning coming out of the vents. American Home Shield sent the request out to Service Pro and then they called and set the schedule up. They came out and looked at what was going on with the air ducts upstairs in my residence. The technician was was good at what he did. He was respectable coming into the house and knew what he was talking about. It turned out that the vent was closed and I couldn't see it. So I paid about $80 for him to open a vent.
American Home Shield was good until we had our refrigerator claim. Our refrigerator has been out of service for over a month now. The technician has already put it in the system as it needs to be replaced but American Home Shield has not held up to their part of the contract to replace it. I've been paying for this warranty every month for this exact reason. But now, it's like they are gonna do what they are gonna do. I have two kids at my house that doesn't have a refrigerator. They won't communicate with us. Every time we call, we stay on hold for about an hour or more and they transfer us and then hang up.
Thank you for contacting us in this case. We do know being without a refrigerator can cause a hassle. We do apologize for any inconvenience. We would be more than happy to assist in resolving this issue. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

Fleshers Refrigeration was great. They were able to give me an appointment the best day and when the technicians came out, they told my wife what was up with the issue on the AC and they fixed it. It was a bad capacitor and they replaced it right there on the spot. So, they did a good job. They were professional. This is our peak summer, so we're looking at triple-digit weather here, which was why it probably went. But it’s working fine and it hasn’t gone out.
There's another claim that I have which has to do with the stove. The front glass of the stove shattered. So, I went through American Home Shield. That piece is not being made to replace it so we ended up ordering a new stove altogether. This happened back in July 11th-ish when we ordered it and I've been calling the purchasing center for American Home Shield. They have wait times from an hour to three hours on the phone.
On Friday, I was on the phone for three hours and it never went through. So. when I called back, they said that their office was closed and to call back within a certain time frame. They should've just automatically hung me up and said try again later. For the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to get ahold of the purchasing center just to see what the status is on this new stove that's supposed to come in and I haven't heard anything else. It has already been a month. As far as email-wise, they haven't contacted me again. With this COVID thing, they were saying that they were having certain delays but one thing that I would like to see on the website, when you do have a claim, is to have a comment section within the actual claim itself so you can add comments and someone can review those or if you have issues. The only way I can get through is if I decide to do a new claim and tell that person what was going on.

He told us what we had going and when we asked him a question, he had the answers that we needed. He was honest with us, and that’s good. He fixed our third and second regulator appropriately to where we could regulate better. He changed the thermostat since the old one had mercury in it. Now, it's cool in the house. Everything has been great and I had texted the contractor a couple of times. The ovens are both going and it’s all a go. Then, my daughter put something in the oven and set it at 350, and it went off again. She had to go out and flip the circuit breaker. The technician reset everything to the way it was set in the factory and everything was working great. So, I haven't had a problem since then. Yesterday morning, I put a quiche in the oven for breakfast for an hour and it didn't go off. Everything was just perfect. Now, it hasn’t done it again, but I didn't cook home last night. When it goes off, it’s just crazy. But everybody did whatever they could and they've changed the circuit breaker. I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope that this is it. If it goes out again, I'll call AHS right away. I can't even imagine that I'm gonna have to end up eventually with a new stove.
The people that have been sent out by American Home Shield have been more than accommodating, professional and very helpful. But many times, when I've called in, I get someone on the phone and they’re very hard to understand. I finally asked one lady if she was from the Philippines. And she said yes. A half-hour wait is an awful long time to wait on a phone call. But I tell all my friends about American Home Shield. I tell them they're really great. They send out good people. They know what they're doing, they get it done, and there are no problems. Recently, I wasn't getting enough water into my sink. Our recent claim with AHS was handled great. My upstairs air was not cooling correctly and the air conditioning was running continuously. I had a situation where my wife had just had surgery, so we needed the upstairs to be cool. The first folks that they assigned, I called them to try to get them to come out a little earlier. The appointment they scheduled was reasonable, it just didn't meet my needs because it was gonna be five days, and I needed to get it cooler up here when she got back from the hospital. So, I called them directly but they weren't able to change their appointment.
I called American Home and told them the situation. The young lady I talked with started looking and checking to see if she could find somebody else that could do it quicker and she did. The contractors came out the next day. The contractors were very nice, very professional and couldn't have been better. They were here when they would be and did exactly what they said they would do.
I wasn't really expecting it to cost me an additional $192, but that was the Freon thing. That’s in the contract, so I understood it. That still was a pretty good deal on the Freon, all things considered. But I would like to have had a better idea of just how much I was gonna have to delve out. A little bit more transparency there of how much Freon is, would have helped. It would have softened the impact of the additional $200 bill. But they were upfront in the fact that you're gonna have to pay Freon. But that one thing aside, everything was great. I was very satisfied with the way they handled it.

Lake Area came out to work on appliances, and they came a couple of times because they had to order parts. They worked on my refrigerator, icemaker, washer and dishwasher. I called American Home Shield initially, and I set the claim up with them first. Then AHS set it up with Lake Area. The AHS reps that I spoke to were very helpful. They gave me an expectation on when to expect the call from Lake Area to set up the appointment. The guy from Lake Area was personable. He seemed to be skilled and knowledgeable, and he told us a couple of things to help out. He said, “You might wanna get this in the future to clean out your system so that maybe it won't get clogged.”
Lake Area had to come out one more time a week ago, and they made a correction on the washing machine because it wasn't washing. It had something to do with the part that was put in because it was actually put in the door. The door was not doing something and the washing machine just won't work. So, he came out and made that correction. He was only there a few minutes, and that was it. He was really good. We just didn't like him having to come back out for the last part. But he was in and out quick, so I like that. I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. I was protected by them at another house plus this house. I've been with them for at least 20 years.

I worked with American Home Shield and American Residential Warranty and I like this AHS better. It seems a higher and more knowledgeable business than the other one. It's also very easy to do claims online. So far, we've had a very good response time. This is the first year that we've had to use it and we've called two or three places already, and everything has been done. We get a phone call from the company that they reference out to us within 24 hours, and then they come here within another 24 hours. It's just seamless. They are also contacting us to see how our experience is with that company. And then also, the company called back and asked if the person that they sent out did a good job. I love that. It’s like two people checking. Recently, the dishwasher wasn’t draining. Valley Appliances Service came out and the person that they sent, George, was wonderful.

American Home Shield's contractor, AVJ Latchaw came out for my AC claim. The techs from there were very nice and they were right on top of things. They came right away when I made the initial call. There was a leak they couldn't fix so they had to replace things. As soon as they got the equipment from Home Shield, they called me right away and installed it the next day. The replacement has been great since then. I loved AVJ Latchaw. Previously, I had a bad experience with AHS but this recent claim has been absolutely great. I'm very happy with how it went.

The guy from Sears came and did a thorough examination of what the issue was. He called to double verify that the part was what I needed. He went and picked up the part and came right back, and then showed me the older parts. When he was doing the work, he said that since the appliance was behind the house, he told me he would call me and show me when it was done rather than knocking on the door. I've had other service calls and they've been fine but he was good as well as Sears, which is who I usually use before I got the warranty.
American Home Shield has done well and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I had one minor issue with the plumbing because everywhere here in Florida, the plumbing tends to run higher than the house, and do a lot of piping up. So that wasn't clear when they came out. But outside of that, everything else has been fine. Also, when the AC had an issue, the contractor made a suggestion on how I could do something maintenance-wise to prevent what happened. I was with a different company before and I researched American Home Shield and the reviews were good. I’ve been very satisfied so far.

We had an incident in our home, so we had to take care of it. I needed a rekey and Arizona Sunrise Lock & Key did really well. I got a call the same day, and I made an appointment for the following day to get everything done. I usually do everything online. Normally, it's all done rather quickly and I don't have to contact American Home Shield unless necessary. I had two contractors come out this past month. One was for an appliance and one was the rekey, and I have to always remind the contractors to wear their masks or take off their shoes while in the house. I indicate that when I do my request as well.
I've had American Home Shield for 10 years and they do a really good job. I did notice that they're starting to use contractors that don’t have a company truck or car though. The Care Appliance Repair company that just came out, I asked for a business card and the guy didn't have any. American Home Shield needs to follow up to make sure that the contractors at least have business cards on them. I’m not gonna let a stranger in my house, and it seems like they’re independent contractors.

It's been one heck of a couple of weeks for us with leaks in the home. We had three separate issues. The very first one was back in July. The contractor showed up the same day. It was like three hours after I called them. The liquid was pretty substantial inside the wall. I had another company out here that had torn into the wall but they wouldn't touch the plumbing. So then City Plumbing had to come out and replace the PEX pipe inside the wall. So that was good and done.
The second issue was in another bathroom across the house. This call took two to three days for them to come out. We had fans blowing and the mitigation company was out here. So that went reasonably well. However, this last one is in my laundry room now. They came out today and they left saying they'd have to call for some approvals to get access to the pipe. So they left without completing the job. It's hard to get ahold of them because it's an hour and a half to a two-hour wait on the phone.
The issue has nothing to do with City Plumbing. They can't get approvals to do whatever they want. They have to get approvals from American Home Shield. So the first two claims were great, but I'm kinda worried that the last one might take a lot longer than it should. But the service from American Home Shield has been good. I've been doing my claims online and I love it. It's great. It takes me less than five minutes to send in the claim. However, it's challenging if I wanted to speak to somebody and have a quicker resolution. It's an hour and a half wait, which is pretty excessive for calling.

I did an online work order for two faucets that needed to be fixed and the website is good. They let me know the contractor would call me within 48 hours to set up an appointment and the plumber who came was good. I had a leaky faucet in the bathtub, and then a bad faucet in the bathroom sink. They're in the same bathroom and he fixed everything that needed to be fixed. He had to put a hole in the wall in the Sheetrock, and he said that he would get with American Home Shield to get that fixed later. Initially, my experience was good, but as far as the follow-up goes, it hasn't been there. They're not fixing the second problem, so it’s not very good overall.
The first time I contacted American Home Shield to ask them about getting the hole fixed, they suggested I call the plumber to get them in touch with American Home Shield. I called the plumbers and they said, “Well, when you call American Home Shield, you're on hold for anywhere from a half an hour to an hour and a half." So they weren't able to get ahold of American Home Shield. It's been a back and forth thing and the problem isn't getting fixed. If I call American Home Shield on the phone, I'm also on hold for that long just talk to somebody.
I've talked with someone twice about the hole in the wall, and both times, they said they would contact somebody to come and fix it. Both times, I haven't heard anything back. I called last week and I'm still waiting to hear back from American Home Shield. Supposedly, they've gotten in touch with another contractor to fix that, but I haven't heard anything yet. The faucets are working fine now, but I still have the hole in my wall three weeks after this all happened, and I'm not happy about that.

When I first moved in, I had a problem with the drainage in the house. My toilets were flooding and it was coming up through the shower. The previous owners had clogged up the plumbing. It happened to me twice that I had a problem with that and I had to pay for my own Roto-Rooter people to come out because Home Shield couldn't get anybody to come out the same day. I don't think that they are good for emergency situations, but for routine things that can wait a week to have somebody come out, it's great. I prefer submitting claims online and then, usually, in a couple of days, we get a call.
One time, the screws that hold the whole dishwasher in place had shimmied off so when I would roll out my rack on the bottom, the whole dishwasher would come out. When I explained that to the girl on the phone, she did not understand that so when the guy from Superior Appliance Repairs came out, he thought it was gonna be something very different. But he was nice enough to put in new screws for me, even though that's not a normal service thing, and the dishwasher is fixed now.

I had a situation when I would run my dishwasher and it wouldn't empty. When I would open the door, water would come out onto the floor. I called the issue in to American Home Shield and their tech from GE Appliances came on the 14th. He said the motor was bad and that he would have the replacement motor shipped directly to my location. He said that he would be back on Tuesday the 21st to install it. However, the motor didn't arrive by then. So, he didn't come back until the 28th to fix my dishwasher. From the first visit until when it was repaired, it was two whole weeks. It got repaired though and now my dishwasher has been working great.
I've had Home Shield for many years. I had them for more than 15 years on my house in Georgia and two years ago, I added my current property. I've always found them to be thorough and fair. That was until the issue I had with my air conditioning which is still hung up. My AC wasn't working when I moved in to my new location. I called AHS to report the issue. An AC contractor came and checked the air handler but he couldn't get access to my roof. That had to be arranged with my condo's management and I was not aware of that.
In the meantime, I got sick staying at my condo because the temperature inside was at least 81 degrees with very high humidity. I had to go to urgent care and people told me that I should stay there until my AC issue was fixed. I called and spoke to American Home Shield telling them that I had a review of the equipment that was done by inspectors who were working on the roof. AHS refused to accept the copy of the report of the inspectors because it wasn't from one of their vendors. They rejected my claim based on the initial vendor's assessment as he said that it looked like there had been secondary damage to the unit. That was because there was a bent pipe.
When I reached out to the air conditioning company that has already been on the roof, they explained to me what they found, which was that the unit was so old and rusty that the bottom was falling out. Since the roof was being done, they moved my unit. As they lifted it, the bottom fell out which causes one of the pipes to bend. For a while, the Freon leaked out. Also, the holes in my unit's coils were caused by bad welds where the whole system holds itself together. So, there was no secondary damage. The unit was handled with extreme care because it was so old. It was reported to the condo management company I hired. The manager opted not to do anything because the unit was still working and so she said that she didn't notify me to notify American Home Shield at the time.
American Home Shield said that the best they could do was send another one of their vendors to take a look at my unit. That company still hasn't reached a decision. I had initially bought a portable air conditioning unit for $300 because I couldn't stay at my place without air conditioning. I explained to AHS that they were costing me additional money by slowing down the process and not responding. So, I was forced to buy a full air conditioning system out of pocket because otherwise, I couldn't stay at my place. I also switched to another company who came and replaced my AC system.
With AHS, I had to wait from the first report submitted on July 8 until August 4 to deal with a situation that was unhealthy. I'm a senior citizen with a lung condition and AHS did not respond. I'm gonna cancel my AHS warranty. This is ridiculous. They still haven't responded to me and I am out nearly $5,000 which is absurd. I've been paying them premiums on time for more than 15 years and they left me without air conditioning for an entire month. I am very disappointed with their performance.
They're gonna have to reimburse me or I'm gonna sue AHS. What they did is not what it says in their contract. They're supposed to be much more responsive. I've already talked to a friend who's an attorney and he told me to take AHS to a small claims court because Home Shield should have paid the claim based on the initial report. The fact that they didn't accept the report because they didn't hire the vendor who made it is a really lame excuse for why they wouldn't accept a report based on the condition of the unit.
We do apologize for the delayed response. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

When I first called to make the appointment, Home Shield sent a company called Flowright. They came but the tech didn't do anything. He just looked at it and said it was a sewage backup and wanted to charge me $650. So, I called Home Shield back and they told me in order for them to do the work, I would have to pay the $650, then they would do the rest. I explained to them, “No, ’cause it has nothing to do with the sewage. It has to do with just the kitchen sink backing up. If it was the sewage, it will be the whole house and it wasn't.”
We kept going back and forth about that. They cancelled it one time, saying that everything was taken care of but it wasn't. And then, I finally told them, “Look, I want a second opinion.” They questioned me why I wanted one and I said, “Because the plumber that you all sent out here don't know what he's talking about.” They then said we'll do one. However, it took them almost a week to find me somebody to come out here and do a second opinion. R.E. Willard Plumbing finally came out here and the tech also asked me why I wanted a second opinion. I explained to him the same thing I explained to Home Shield about the sewage backup. He said the same thing, that if it was a sewage backup, my whole house would be backed up. He snaked it and got it all taken care of.
I just have issues with some of Home Shield's employees. They didn't understand what I was talking about because of their nationality. They didn't understand English real good, and didn't understand what I explained. I had my house since ‘95. When I bought this house back in ‘13, the owners added in the package an HMS Home Warranty. We had them for two years but we never had to use them. And then, they kept bumping the prices up and they didn't cover a lot. I found Home Shield. I have the house out here and one in New Mexico that I both pay for. I’m not gonna pay $1,400 dollars a month when I can pay the 1,000 with Home Shield. The price didn't matter because AHS covered a lot more than HMS did at the time when I started them. And their price is really good.
My property manager let me know on a Thursday at 5 o’clock our time that the dishwasher stopped working. I immediately got on the phone with Home Shield. I didn't like the over an hour wait time, but I get it. Stuff happens. I tried to go online, but since I live in this house, this was the only house that it showed on my account. But the lady told me how to add the New Mexico house. That won't happen again because I will just use the computer to start a claim.
I finally got ahold of the lady after over an hour on hold, and then she said, “Okay, we're gonna send you an email right away.” That was at 6:00 or 7:00. I texted my property manager, “Hey. Got the information. I'll text it to you tomorrow.” I texted her at five o'clock on Friday and asked if the company ever got back with her and she said no. Nothing would get done on Saturday and Sunday. Monday came around and I asked my property manager if she was contacted. She again said no. I called the place that was on the email from Home Shield and the contractor said they never got anything, while here I am thinking that the company would contact me in 24 hours. That was a major disconnect on some part where they said they had nothing.
I called Home Shield again, over an hour on hold, and the lady said, “Hold on.” Then she called and said, “Yeah, they're not getting our paperwork so we're gonna go with somebody else.” That was a little frustrating because the tenants didn't have a dishwasher. I know it’s not the end of the world, but they didn't have a dishwasher for five days. Also, I don't like being on hold forever, but it’s just life. Other than that, I just got one of my coworkers to buy a package with Home Shield.

I had a very unhappy experience with American Home Shield. My garage door wasn't working and when we tried to submit a claim, it was very difficult. We called AHS and nobody was answering the phone. We have to choose online and there were some things we didn't know were included or not included in our insurance. We didn't have anybody to help us. Plus, when we choose online, we have to pay first and when we wanna cancel, nobody cancels for us. With my garage door claim, the tech came and did a one minute fix.
So far, I've made three appointments and though only two of which are coming, my money is still there with them. I need to call my bank to cancel my payment. I hope American Home Shield can cancel the payment for me. Otherwise, if I call my bank, AHS will have to pay the complaint fee. I have pool coverage and I want to know if my pump is included as well as my chlorine machine. I just made an appointment, paid $75 and then their pool companies called me.
When I asked the tech whether my issue was covered, he said he had no idea. If he comes and says that my issue is not included, I don't know how much I need to pay. A chlorine system is very sensitive and that's the one they didn't tell me at all whether or not it was covered. The tech said that he would not come but if I wanted to cancel my charge, I have to call American Home Shield. The issue might be COVID-19 so I will be more patient.
My second complaint is for my AC system. My real estate agent said that it's impossible for the seller of the home I got to replace my entire AC system if they see it working. The best way for me to go is to buy two years of insurance. If I have any problem, my warranty company can repair it for me and if I think my system is too old or broken, they can repair or replace it for me. I purchased American Home Shield but when I put in claims, I realize that it's not a happy experience having them. When I saw my AC not working this summer, the tech told me that my system was not working because of Freon. I paid $75 but AHS only covers $10 for each pound of Freon charge. If I call my AC company, I pay $185 for each pound of Freon so I only have to pay $170. With AHS, I have a $75 appointment fee and the AC company needs to charge $220 for each pound of Freon. With AHS, I need to pay $50 more so I'm very upset.
In total, 1/3 of my claims is satisfied. But then, everywhere I call for a garage door repair, it's not too expensive. Overall, I'm very disappointed with American Home Shield. If AHS would answer my calls, we would understand each other more. If they could give me my money back, then AHS would be the perfect service. I would feel very happy and very safe with my house being under their kind of protection.
Are you still in need of assistance?

My outside unit was making a loud metal on metal noise, and the AC wasn't blowing cold at all. It was just staying hot in the house. Two days after I requested a service ticket, a contractor came out the first time and diagnosed it. It was the motor and the fan. It was a weekend when the guy came out and they were closed on weekends. He said he'd have to get the parts Monday. Monday then rolls around and they had to order the parts, so they weren't out till the following Thursday. It was a week later and he thought he fixed it. I got home Thursday after he thought he fixed it and the unit started making a loud popping noise.
He came back out the following Saturday and said it was the compressor and that I'd have to wait till Monday to get the compressor. I was frustrated. It took two weeks and I had to go buy a couple of window units 'cause it was hot outside. I called American Home Shield and they ended up sending different guys straight from Dallas. They fixed the issue, put the compressor in and all the Freon and they did great.
This is my first claim with American Home Shield and the process was really easy. I had an issue with the fact that they're hard to get ahold of and I know right now, 'cause of COVID, that's part of it. However, my supervisor uses them, which is why I chose them as well. She had an AC problem a while back, and they reimbursed her $200 for the box fan she bought because she had to wait over the weekend for her AC to get fixed. I waited that first week when my AC was supposed to be fixed and I didn't get anything. Then when it was broken the same day they fixed it, I went and got two window units.
I asked if I was gonna get reimbursed anything for it and they said no because it wasn't previously approved. I should've called them first and gotten it approved, then went and bought the window units. I told them I would've done that, but then I couldn't ever get ahold of them. You literally sit on the phone for two hours and that's not even an over-exaggeration. It's two hours you wait to talk to anybody. Still, everything else was fine.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The air conditioner was not cooling off. There was a leak on the tube outside and the tech fixed it. He also put a little Freon on it. Everything went fine. It's working like it's working before. I never had any problem with all the technicians that AHS sent to me. They were all awesome. I'm a happy customer.

Recently, AHS sent New Life Contracting to handle my AC claim and the techs from there got my unit running. They followed social distancing and mask-wearing. But then, we discovered that there was some type of problem with our fuses. Another company came and found that the issue was with our unit's capacitor. With this particular service, the first company that I was given never called. So I called them and they never returned my call. I then, in turn, called AHS again and it was at that time that they gave me the new contractor. I've had other things go wrong and American Home Shield has always been on top of problems. But it would be good if I could always talk to a representative instead of sending everything through an email.
I'm on an automatic deduction from my checking account to pay AHS. When I tried to call them to let them know that I was still having problems and needed another service person to come and check my fuse box, the reps kept saying I owe them. My bank had already sent the draft but it did not clear until that Monday. It is poor bookkeeping for them to deny service to a customer who has paid diligently every month and while knowing that the said customer is sending payment by bank draft, to say that I needed to get a new card was tacky and the reps need to improve on that. They need to make sure they get their facts right.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I called in late in the afternoon and told American Home Shield that I had both faucets that were not shutting off. Water just kept running and running. They said to expect the contractors the next day. We had to turn the water off the house so we had no water. The contractor came out the next day and 3 days later, they had to come back out again. I don’t know if he didn’t fix it right but we had the same thing happen again. We turned the faucet on and water was running everywhere. My granddaughter was upset ‘cause she thought that she had broken it. My son was here when the contractor was here and he said, “Mom, they did not fix it. If they did, they did not fix it right.”
The contractors were pleasant. When they had to come back 3 days later, the guy was still nice but it was almost like he forgot what he did. He didn’t really acknowledge that he didn’t fix it right the first time. It was his assistant making it work and I don’t know if he just did some extension to it. My son said, “Mom, I could have done this way better.” That problem should have been resolved on the first go-round. He shouldn’t have to have to come back if he would have done the job right the first time. But they responded immediately.

It's better to go online and file a claim than to call because of the hold time with American Home Shield. I understand we're under a pandemic, but even prior to that, it was awful. There have been times where I've been on hold for 30 minutes, which is unacceptable, just to get somebody to pick up the phone. So, 99.9% of the time, I try to go online 'cause I don't wanna deal with it. And I just know from vendors over the years, when a vendor has to deal directly with American Home Shield is just as bad although the vendors don't complain because if they do, they probably get booted. But the vendors they've sent were fabulous and very professional.
I had an issue with one repair job in regards to an AC unit. It wasn't working because it wasn't getting the signal from the Nest AC thermostat. I figured that American Home Shield wasn't gonna authorize the claim and so I didn't go through them. We have another AC company that came out and fixed it. They have been beyond phenomenal. They found an issue with what the American Home Shield AC guy did which was shoddy craftsmanship. But I didn't call and complain 'cause it had already been 90 days. With my recent claim, Hendricks Electric came out to fix an attic fan that was not working.
I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years and the few times I would call them and say about my contract, they would tell me that I've only been with them for two years. If for any reason a client's contract is terminated and a new contract is started, there should be some type of notation on the account how long that particular consumer has been with the company. Since I've been with them for 20 years, when I get the contract, I automatically assume that whatever it is, I'm gonna get. There was a scenario that happened one time in regards to the AC unit that I had to call up and request for my contract to put everything up to code. So, when it came time to replace my AC unit, they said that I didn't authorize them to upgrade my policy to apply to code, so I had to pay on my own to get everything up to code.
If a client has the Cadillac plan, they should get the benefits of the Cadillac plan automatically. They shouldn’t have to call up and request any modifications. Probably, it came and went, and I didn't even realize I didn't read the policy. So, if any time any changes are made where a Cadillac plan person, they should get any new features that are put into the plan. They're charging me more year after year. I should be getting every bells and whistles that are available to me for being the Cadillac plan without having to request. But I love them and I recommend them all the time.
I am glad to hear you are happy with your experience with us so far. Thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for recommending us. Take Care.

When I’m submitting a claim, I've done it both online and via phone at different times and I don't recall ever having any problem with either process. It's relatively quick. This time, I called in my request and one of the nice things about this fix was that it was quick. Plus, the guy that was sent had what he needed on the truck, which was nice. We had had a series of hot days and there were lots of people having problems with their AC at the time, and I was very pleased that Bennett Air was able to come out so quickly. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend using them again in the future.
I talked to the guy and it turned out that the problem was the capacitor was dead. It's happened before and it's no big surprise. We've had a lot of storms lately, and one of the things that's bad for capacitors is dramatic changes in the supplied voltage, which happens during storms with the power going out. If you have frequent power flickerings, that variation in the power supply to the air conditioner messes up the capacitor or contributes to shortening its life. A few years ago, we had a problem with the air conditioner and as it turns out, it was the same problem. The company that came was Air Supply, Inc. and they were terrific too. So whoever American Home Shield is picking as the contractors that come fix my air conditioner, they're doing great work.
My home warranty came with the house when I bought it 18 years ago. I had two years’ worth of American Home Shield paid for, but I kept it going and it has been valuable. It was such a good deal the first few years, 'cause we had the whole condenser unit replaced, the hot water pipe burst and then both the washer and dryer keeled out over a period of years.
There are still other stuff that can break as well (like our dishwasher). The house was built late in 1960, and the air handler is original equipment from the late 1950s. It's gonna go at some point and that'll be expensive, so I'll keep American Home Shield until that dies. Overall, I've gotten my money's worth out of the warranty, and so I keep renewing. By now I've paid American Home Shield more than I have used them, but it's close, so I consider keeping it money well spent.

I've had no difficulties submitting a claim with AHS. The contractors that came out recently were good. The first time they came in, they had to order the part and then they came back and fixed it. They did what they were supposed to do to fix it. However, with the Gold Plan that we have with AHS that has everything, they need to at least include garage openers on it as well so we don't have to pay separately for it. But I told one of my neighbors to try AHS out because she was having a problem with her AC unit as well.

My mom had American Home Shield at first, and she passed away, so they cut it off. I had to switch it to me and it’s been a couple of years. We continue to have problems and they haven’t replaced my AC. I've called American Home Shield and they just send somebody out. To me, it costs more money for them to constantly come out for the same issue. My air conditioner would trip and it goes off. The wires were burnt after a while 'cause soon, it \wouldn’t do anything.
When A-US Air came out, they have had to replace the wires. I had the breaker upgraded and replaced as well, but I’m still having the issue. It keeps kicking off and I even have to get up in the middle of the night to flick it, go outside and flick it back on. So, there's no sense in calling American Home Shield if I could just go out there and do it. Unfortunately, it’s not broken, and I just have to keep flicking it.

The condenser fan of the AC would not come on but every time the tech from Total Air Care would come out there, it would come on for him. So, it's hard to figure out the issue and until now, it's not fixed yet. At first, he changed the capacitor, which made sense, but that didn't seem to fix it and it didn't change the context. Then, he changed the fan but the problem was still there. So, they came out and replaced the one they had changed. They were saying that the fan was bad because it was spinning like it's supposed to, but when I'm out there and I'm trying to turn it on, it won't come on. I got to turn it on and off several times, then it finally comes on. But when I leave in the morning, I can't leave it on because if it cycles and doesn't come on, it's gonna burn the unit up. They also said that the thermostat's working because the outside unit only gets on-off signal, it doesn't get a fan signal. So the problem was not the thermostat.
Other than that, the contractors were okay. I work this kind of work, so I'm not really going to be critical on them. I get the situation. But I'm not happy with some of the things that AHS was doing because if the AC was low on Freon, they didn't want to pay for the Freon. Then, if I put a brand new unit in, they wouldn't pay for the 10% of the Freon. So I'd be out another 800 bucks just to get the unit to operate if it's a brand new unit. But I'm not paying $90 for Freon and AHS should take care of that.
Also, the Freon issue wasn't explained to me when I bought the warranty which is enough to irk me and make me drop them and go to somebody else or not have a warranty at all. But when I bought the program, I was told that if the AC needed a replacement, it would be replaced with no cost to me, which meant that AHS would pick it up and I'd pay only the $100 deductible. This was also advertised in their website. But when I asked these questions, I was very misled by their answers. Despite that, up until the point of the cost of Freon, AHS did a good job.
Aside from that, when I'm calling them, the wait queue is ridiculous which would take an hour. I had to call them three times and all three times I waited. Then, I got to make a callback, and they would call me back two hours later. Their customer service sucks. I also talked to two ladies who were hard to understand. AHS has got to have people who actually speak English that I can understand. I'm not being ugly, but it's like I'm calling overseas and that kinda irks me a little bit, too. Plus, whoever called me back eventually gave me answers that didn't really give me any answer in the first place. They kinda evaded the question, read off of a menu, and just gave me a blank answer.
Hi Mark,
I would be glad to speak with you and discuss the issues that you have experienced to have the AC repaired.

They got right on my claim and whoever they sent out fixed our problem. They had to order a part and it was at least a week. They came back with the part and we were pleased with everything. This was my first time to have to use American Home Shield, and they came through for us. On Facebook, I see pros and cons. Somebody will have a bad experience, and there'll be two or three saying, “We've never had a problem.” If I ever have a big problem, I hope they're as good as they were for this one.

I filed a claim for an air conditioning issue and American Home Shield told me the contractor was Hansen. I called Hansen and they said that it was gonna be three or four days before they could get to it because they were busy. They came out and tried something the first time. It only worked for about a week or so and they had to come back and do the final thing. This was during a really hot period. I wound up having to stay at my neighbor's house for three or four nights. The house itself got to be in the 90s and there was nothing I could do. I couldn't even turn the attic fan on because it was 85 or 90 outside.
The last two guys that came out were very accomplished and they knew what they were doing. It took them about an hour, an hour and a half, and they told me that right upfront that it would take about that length. I don't know whether the first guy that came out was new or whether it was the end of the day and he was tired but he's average. He would not be somebody I would hire if I was doing it myself. The last two guys that Hansen had, I would.
American Home Shield couldn't help the fact that there was a backlog. I don't hold that against them. I paid $100 the first time, and all the others were taken care of. So, I was tickled. I wanna mitigate any major expense that I would have so I will probably continue American Home Shield for as long as I'm a homeowner.

The inside coil of the air conditioning froze up. I submitted the claim online and I've called too. Everything seems very simple. The gentleman from Ace came out and he was wonderful. He has been here once before. Unfortunately, by the time he got here, it was running fine and the issue didn't repeat itself. But I had already paid for the service call. So, he checked everything over. It was some loose insulation inside my AC and we both had the thought that maybe it covered the coil causing it to freeze. It was just the airflow making it freeze up. There was no repair to be made. He just glued that back in place. Super nice guy. I loved him because he was here before and he helped. He could've come up with something wrong. Everything since has worked fine. The last company was also good. I would've gladly had them back before. Both companies were fine and just responsive as you can be dead of summer in Florida.

My central vacuum system is not working so they're gonna come out again. At first, I submitted my claims to American Home Shield over the phone and then, they educated me to do it online, which is much more efficient. Customer service-wise, they gotta get to be a little better because they gave me two different quotes. What they wanted to charge me when I called them and what they took out of my account were two different things. The amount was a little more than what they wanted to charge me for. I like that they follow up and they make sure that everything is going right and they do surveys with the people who come out. Recently, the air conditioner got a leak in the line so it was losing refrigerant. The unit froze up and as part of the problem, there were some issues with the coil and the thing being low-low and then freezing up. Peak Home Performance came out on Saturday which was pretty rare on a weekend. They've been very prompt in getting back with us which is what I've liked and they explained things very well. Actually, they're out here right now trying to find out where the leak is. It’s a pretty old unit, so I'm not sure how it's all gonna end up. But so far, they've been doing a very good job. I had two plumbing claims that Doshier came out for. The first occasion was when my toilet had a leak. They did everything really good and fixed it. Then, I had a drainage clog and called them out. They came and the young man thought that I had an air vent clogged for my washer drains. He got up on the house and he couldn't find anything wrong. Then he came back with the part and repaired it before the time that he had indicated earlier. So, I was well pleased with that. He was also professional and pleasant. I tend to ask questions and he didn't seem to be annoyed by those questions. And he responded. So I would rate that as a very good experience. Since the repair, the washing machine seems to be fine and I've not had any problems with it. There's also something going on with our basement air conditioning. One of our air conditioning units wasn't working. Everyday Heating and Cooling was sent and had to come back a couple of times because their parts and things like that, but it's now working. However, I've had multiple times when AHS is supposed to schedule something and then it takes forever and I have to call back and it never gets scheduled.
I have one that's outstanding from July 23rd for an electrician because we don't have power to an area of the home. The electrician came, couldn't figure it out, said he was stumped, said he was gonna contact American Home Shield to have them assign somebody to add more than one person on their team, then nothing happened. We were hosting 10 family members from out of state and so I called American Home Shield. They said they couldn't do anything until the electrician rejected the job, and they had 48 business hours to do that.
I called back again, and every time I call, I'm on hold for at least 45 minutes before I get to anybody. I finally got through to somebody and they reassigned it to somebody else after much turmoil. The next people showed up 48 business hours later. They only allocated one hour for the job and the guy said it was gonna take longer. He left and said he was gonna request more time. It was 10 days ago, and I can't get ahold of him, I can't get ahold of American Home Shield, and I can't request service in the app because it still shows that it's in the process. No one will answer the calls, no one will show up, and I still have no power since July 23rd.
My husband called and spoke to two people yesterday. They said they were gonna escalate it but nothing happened. So, I've had a couple of situations like that that are incredibly frustrating and I can't get ahold of anybody. And all I'm told is, "They have so many hours to do this," or, "It shows that they're working on the project," but nothing happened.

I’ve had a good experience with AHS. The last time I came up, my upstairs air conditioning unit wasn't cooling and I ended up with a brand-new condenser unit outside. Plus, it was like with nothing out of my pocket. AHS also did the hot water and they've been fast. Even this last gentleman that came out, he was very prompt and I was pleased with the response. Maybe things have changed though. This last time, I came up and my unit wasn't cooling again, but it didn't go like it normally has in the past. When this gentleman came out, he said it was three pounds load of Freon and I was gonna have to write him a check for 75.
He was really sure that I was gonna make him a check for his money to pay for the Freon, but I told him that Freon doesn't evaporate and that there was a leak somewhere. He said he'd have to charge me $1,500 to look for a leak when he knew there had to be a leak. I said that's never happened before. The contractors usually go back out to their truck and somebody calls AHS and gets further authorization to fix my problem.
His thing was I had to call them, but why should I have to call AHS? Plus, the last time I called, I waited 45 minutes on line to talk to a representative. That was way too long to wait on line to get the service and something needs to be done about that as well. AHS always says they are working on it, but they don’t ever work on it. They’ve not ever added any staff. It's always 45 minutes to an hour when I call. That’s why I hate to call and that’s why the contractors have a number that they can call.
Long story short, the contractor didn't fix my problem. It's gonna happen again ‘cause Freon’s gonna leak out and then they'll charge me $75 again for three pounds of Freon. I also don't know how long the three pounds of Freon would last. He said three years and that was not right. It'll leak out again. Other than that, I've gotten good service out of AHS. My granddaughter and her husband just bought their first home, and I told them they needed to call AHS. I told them to work it into their budget somehow. They can't just not have that. I said that I understand it's gonna cost them $56 a month, but it's well worth it, so they've set up a plan with AHS.

I've had at least three providers, if not more, that have looked at two different air conditioning units. The provider that I had here within the last 10 minutes did a good job but I was upset the other day because I was trying to get a provider back out here because the unit was still having problems. I called American Home Shield on Thursday and they scheduled the contractor for Friday. I was not gonna be here so I called and canceled. I moved it to Tuesday and then, I realized that I was not gonna be back. So, I called and moved it to Wednesday. All three times, I called and rescheduled, and it all went fine.
On Wednesday, when the company was supposed to come out, I got an urgent notice from AHS that my warranty had not been approved and that it was under review. I rescheduled all the way to the next Wednesday and then that Wednesday morning, after I came home from out of town to meet the air guy, I heard at the last minute from American Home Shield that they sent the claim up for approval but it hadn't been done yet and that the air conditioning company would not be coming.
I found that unacceptable on American Home Shield's part. It appeared to be that the day they were dispatching somebody was the day American Home Shield would raise an issue if there was one, when in reality, it should have been handled long before. We never should have been in a situation where I made a trip home to meet the air conditioning company several days later than originally scheduled and the thing is being held up by American Home Shield. The communication was not good because the air conditioning company came anyway as they had told me they were coming and were scheduled. But American Home Shield had not approved it anywhere close to the time frame for the call. It should have happened within a day or two, not on the scheduled service day. When that service day is almost a week later, they should let me know there's a problem well before the date of service.
Also, while I was in the middle of something, I had to stand outside in the heat at a retail establishment so I could take a call. I was on hold and we were trying to get to the bottom of it for well over 30 minutes. I understand that when you call, you go on hold sometimes anywhere you call, so that's normal. But it's clear that the folks they have answering their phone are in another country and it's very often difficult to communicate with them. Sometimes I've had to call my wife in from the other room to listen so we could decipher what was being said. I’ve had American Home Shield since I purchased this house so it has been five years. On top of that, I have another warranty through them at my other house, which I've got problems with air conditioners out there. I called on Saturday and they're supposed to be scheduling somebody but when I looked this morning, it still showed that they were trying to figure out who to schedule it to.

The first guy who came out, Damien, might have messed up our unit a little bit, but I'm not sure. He put 2000 Freon in it and it was gone within the week. There was a leak and apparently, there was more than one. A second technician came out and checked everything out. He found a good leak up in the evaporator. The expansion valve was messed up as well and he replaced it. He did a professional job. He patched up our AC, repaired it and went on his way. No hassle.
I've had American Home Shield now for a good number of years and I've never complained about it. It doesn't cost me that much money. I had some work done last year on two appliances. It would have cost me several hundred dollars, but it cost me $82. It has been easy submitting service requests too. I just go online and submit one.

The dishwasher wouldn't come on and it wouldn't empty the water out of the bottom of the tub. AABCO handled it very well. They were much better than the first people that American Home Shield had to fix the dishwasher last year. The guy called when he was there and he was on time. Also, the service was quick. What the guy did was very minor but still in all, it was okay 'cause all I had to do is make the one call. Everything has been fine since.

My wife and I used to flip houses years ago. We've had several houses with home warranties on them. It would come free with the house because the listing agent had them and when it expired, we were just done with them. American Home Shield is the only one that I've continued. They've been responsive, they're easy to use, and they work things real quickly. They're a good enough value that I keep it, even though I'm paying for it. Submitting claims is a pretty easy process. The only problem I had was trying to double up and getting two issues addressed with one service person. I had difficulty getting that scheduled. It turned out that the company that was coming for one wasn't set up to handle the other so they couldn't do it anyway.
Recently, I had some kind of a leak going on when I would go into the filter house. There was water on the ceiling and on the walls and I couldn't find the leak. Mountain View came out and they said that it was a pressurization problem. They checked and said because of the pressurization problem there may have been damage to one of the seals inside the pump that might have been an additional source of leakage. They got permission from Home Shield to be covered and they came back out and fixed it. They got everything sorted out quickly and easily.
I do wish that the record was more available. I can only go back and see what I've had done on this contract in the last 12 months. There are times when I'm looking for tax issues or trying to calculate cost of the house and I wanna be sure that I have included all of the maintenance that's been done. I look at all of the things that have been repaired and so it would be nice if I could go back for as long as I've been with them as opposed to just the current contract.

Then after the clothes finished a cycle, it was not getting warm and nothing was drying properly. I submitted the claim online through the AHS website. It was pretty straightforward and easy to use. I like American Home Shield but I don't like their new contract. The first contract I had said that AHS would take care of my oven issue, and this last one didn't. The temperature on my stove wouldn't set. If something is too old or they can't get enough money out of it, they’ll fix it if they can, but they won't get you another one. You have to pay the difference. That is not fair because the purpose of a warranty is that you don't have to pay if anything goes wrong. Other than that, The contractors from Applifix Heating and Appliance who came out to service the oven were all very neat and polite. They were all wearing masks. It has always been good with them.

There were numerous light bulbs in the house that had never been changed so it resulted in fire or smoke when we turned on the electricity. When I arrived at the home, I was not able to use that particular light until we had an electrician check it. When the electrician checked it, he said that it had come from the factory with gas inside that particular type of light bulb and sometimes they just smoke. He checked the light fixture itself and everything was fine. It was a great experience with American Home Shield. We had an appliance repair guy come and fix the dryer. We also had a plumber come. A leak in my bathroom ceiling. Called AHS, they put me in touch with Infinity Plumbing. Dispatch ID **, it took two days before they could come out. Once they arrived, they said my water pressure was 90 and could not take any action without AHS approval. This was on a Thursday. The wanted me to pay $400.00, for a pressure regulator. In the meantime the pipe is still leaking. Contacted AHS on Friday, infinity plumbing did not turn in their paper work.
Now it’s the weekend and the pipe is still leaking. Finally I spoke to someone at AHS, no paperwork from plumbing co. On Tuesday, I think, AHS stated I was not covered for a new pressure regulator. I called and paid to have the leaky pipe repaired and had the water pressure checked (a week later) it was 78/79. I had to pay AHS $75.00 for no service. I think, Infinity plumbing thought since I was a woman, they could get extra money from me. AHS, did not want to hear what I had to say and just went on the info from the plumbing co.
I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved for the plumbing.

Scheduled a service for our AC unit on Friday, July 31st. We are in NC and it is currently 95+ everyday. Our service was scheduled for Wednesday, August 5th. No questions were asked over the phone of our issue or AC unit. The technician came and took a screwdriver and tried to kickstart the fan of our unit. Then said "the fan motor needs to be replaced, the office will call you". I asked if he could check the Freon level or any other parts to ensure this didn't have to be a multiple trip/appointment service. He said "can't really check anything else until the motor is fixed".
He had a pickup truck and no visible replacement parts in sight. He was kind and polite, but not helpful. This "service" call was never meant to fix our AC unit. We had to call "the office" and inquire about the ordered part. They said they ordered it and they didn't have an idea when it would come in. When asked why they didn't ask more questions before the at-home visit, they said this is the way AHS wants us to handle service calls. We left a message for AHS on Thursday, August 6th and still have not received a callback. They texted and emailed me on Thursday, August 6th indicating "Your job is now complete. Please rate your experience." I filled out the survey sharing that our job is, in fact, not complete and we are still without AC. No response yet from AHS.

I had a washer claim and the contractor that they sent out took almost three months to repair it. And Home Shield would never switch to a different provider. If they assigned it to a bad provider, I'm kind of stuck with that provider for a very long time. But my AC claim was a very pleasant experience. The blower motor in the AC stopped so the AC was running but it wasn't blowing out. I called Home Shield and United Air Temp came out when they said they were gonna come out. The contractor was real knowledgeable too. My neighbor's garage sensor went out and I talked to the guy that was fixing it. He told me all the different kinds of stuff and that they were gonna have to do a bigger job. The process of submitting a claim hasn't always been very easy. I feel like I get a lot of resistance every time I try to ask about something and that a lot of things aren't covered that I thought would be. That's kind of frustrating too. The issue was that the garage door was not working. The motor wasn't going. I called out the guy and the service tech was able to fix that so that went well. He figured out pretty quickly and got it up and running.
The most frustrating part was talking with American Home Shield. When I worked with the agents, every time I call in, it's kind of frustrating. I feel like I get talked over a lot. I would not recommend American Home Shield to anyone. After looking into it, I pay a $75 service fee for anything that has someone come out to do. Both those things that I've had fixed, I could've easily gotten done for that same price just going straight to the source. The guy who fixed my garage door did it really quickly. He pretty much just had to wire some things up. If I called him out directly, I felt that he would've charged $75 for what he did just from having conversations with them.
The same is true for some oven service that I had. I paid a $75 fee and pretty much he just came out and looked at it based on the model number and ordered a part like I could've done. I couldn't have put it back in and he was able to assess some of the things that I wouldn't have been able to do. But it was a $75 fee for something that took him 20 minutes. It seemed kinda high. So, so far, I feel like I've spent a lot more money on services that I was kind of expecting, based on the notion of a home warranty, would be less because I have a home warranty. I'm paying both more for the services and also for the plan itself.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

Also, the guy told me that the Whirlpool couldn't be repaired. They left and I didn't hear anything.
I called Home Shield back and it was very hard to get them. I called on 7/10 and someone was supposed to call me back. Then, I talked to Josie on 7/20, Alan on 7/26, Jennie on 7/26 who was supposed to send me an email and Adrian on 8/3. Each time, I requested a supervisor and not one time did I get a call back from a supervisor.
Home Shield sent 3 Boys out here and they were very nice. They said that the waterline had been eaten by some critter but they said that Home Shield will not pay for them to repair the lines that the critter had eaten. Also, they didn't do anything for the refrigerator that freezes up. They told me that it had a Freon leak but they didn't know where it was and they weren't sure that the Freon leak could be repaired.
Then, when I called Home Shield, they told me that they don’t have a report from the contractor. 3 Boys said they sent it to them on July 23rd. When I talked to Home Shield's rep, she told me 3 Boys sent a report on the Frigidaire but they didn't send one for the Whirlpool. The rep was very patient with me. She got 3 Boys on the line and they told her that the Whirlpool had some type of leak and they couldn’t repair it. So Home Shield is sending me a third contractor out here. I've been going around with American Home Shield since May 14th and I'm frustrated. I don't think this is good customer service. I can't get anyone out here to do any repairs.

The only thing I really have an issue with Home Shield is that we've had our dishwasher repaired three times and for the same thing. They won't replace it and it makes no sense. I wasn't sure if it was a water leak or an air leak because when the air conditioner was originally put in when they built the place, they didn't run the line out. They just hooked up to the outgoing line from the plumbing so the plumbers said it was not their problem. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. They went out there and found what the problem was. It was like a two-way issue. One of the lines that they ran into was going out of the house but instead of fixing that, they said it was an AC thing. He had to call his boss and call American Home Shield to see if they would cover it. They said they'd get back to us the next day but it was a Friday that they came. We were waiting Monday and Tuesday. They never got back to us saying they couldn't fix it.
Finally on Saturday, I thought I needed it fixed. It was still leaking and getting worse. I had to reach back to American Home Shield. I did it online to get the AC people to come out when the plumbing people could have fixed it. All the AC people did was put a quick sealant caulking around it. It was an easy fix. Four months ago, I called and had a plumber come fix my toilet. They could have replaced the rusted-out screws that were around the bottom on the floor. They could have replaced more than just fix the seal. Because when you go in there, it still has a little leak in the back because I got those blue things in my toilet, so it tells me if it leaks. They knew it was there because they had to take the toilet off, and then they had to replace it. But the screws are rusted, so it won't be long. It's already leaking a bit. It's just my guest bathroom, but I would have to have them come back out here and pay $75 again just for them to fix that, that they should have already fixed.
Submitting a claim is the easiest process. The hard part is determining what part is it, air conditioning, plumbing? Last year, I filed a claim under air conditioning because I didn't know. It was my drainage where my air conditioner goes down into the drainage area and it was blocked. The heat and air guy just ran a thing through. It lasted about a year, and then it started flooding my kitchen again when I called. This time, I put it under pipe issues. And then, when the tech came out, he recognized it right away. I had to have a couple of pipes just redone. They charged me $400, but he just replaced a little pipe and took the metal one off and put a PVC pipe in for me underneath my air conditioner. I don't understand why Home Shield didn't tell me why they wouldn't pay for the two pipes to be redone. They were a foot each. I don't understand why I had to pay $400. But other than that, I've been happy with the service.

We needed to rekey a crawlspace area. I submitted a claim on American Home Shield's website. It was straightforward. Realty Rekey came out and I have no complaints so far about the keyings. We needed to get in the crawlspace to do some task work. So, it was really great to have the crawlspace accessible. I'm satisfied.

Things are running smoothly. Also, it usually doesn't take more than a day or two for a contractor to come out. One time, there was a leak over the bathtub and the commode wasn't flushing like it was supposed to. AHS had Jim Bennett's Plumbing come out and they fixed both of the issues.

Everything was taken care of when K&S Plumbing came out. The tech was nice. He called in and made sure that we got the stove together. The only thing that was kind of frustrating was when we were trying to get everything done, we had to deal with two or three people instead of just one person. For instance, we were trying to fix the refrigerator door and one person came out for that. Then another person came to fix the dryer. They could have just get that one person to do both so they could kill two birds with one stone. But other than that, they were really good with all the work.

A couple of power outlets went out. Sunbelt Electric came out and they checked with the time they said they were supposed to be there. It was a range from 10:00 to 1:00. The tech got there around 12:00. And then, Sunbelt Electric figured it out and pretty much took care of it. We told them where it was and it was not even half an hour. The tech checked them all out to find out one of the cords in one of the outlets was bad, and that was causing the problem. We bought a new cord, just plug it and that was it. Everything was fine.

The AC was backing up and it was draining into our house. AHS sent an AC guy out to see if it was an AC issue or if it was a plumbing issue. It was a back-and-forth thing and it took about two months to be repaired. I had AC the whole time but we had to put a pot underneath so it wouldn't drain in my house. Stan's Plumbing came out and rerouted our drainpipe. They were professional. Everything is fixed now.

I filed the claim online as it was hard to get over the phone. I have to wait an hour and 30 minutes. I've had two cancellations with AHS and both times, they didn't contact me to tell me that the appointment was cancelled because they didn't service my area or even provide the service. Then both times, I reached out to the company to ask when we could set the appointment. They told me that they had already told AHS that they could service me. I had to sit on hold both times and wait to speak to someone to even get someone else out. That was not very good.
I had two people come out. One of them was good. One was not the best. The day I had called, he didn't sound like he knew what I was talking about when I said, "Home warranty." He was supposed to come out early that morning. I waited for three hours and he never showed up. I ended up calling him and asked him what happened. He said that the guy was late and he was intending on calling me but he never did. Then he showed up about two hours later. So, they were here late in the day versus early in the morning and then it was kind of awkward. But he got the job done.

Something burned out in the microwave and the contractor needed to replace the circuit board. Then, when I ran the icemaker, some of the parts fell into the ice into my cup. It was broken and they just replaced the whole little box that the ice falls out of. Express Appliance ordered parts when they came out. They said it was supposed to be delivered to my house, so I was not to open the box. I waited for two weeks but I hadn't heard anything. I called American Home Shield and it took me 45 minutes to an hour to get through to somebody. The girl said she didn’t know if they were able to find the parts and they would have to look into it. She finally came back over to me and said that they didn't think they could find the parts, and that they would be replacing the unit. I just wanted it fixed and then, the very next day, the parts showed up on my doorstep. So they were there and available, and the contractor fixed it. It went very well and it was perfect.
We've made several calls to American Home Shield and I've always been very pleased with it. I recommended my mom to get it and she did. I tried to send her the email so that she could get the credit and so could I, but the girl didn't let it go. She called and she even said her daughter did it, but they didn't do anything for it. But I've been very happy with AHS.

I called American Home Shield because we had an issue with the washing machine. The water would not go out. I wasn't initially pleased about having Sears come out because with them, a lot of things going out of business, I was skeptical. But they did well and they were okay. It took them a little longer though. When we had an issue with the heat pump, the guy that came out was wonderful. They also understood and they took extra care of us. They went out of their way.
I did my research on a lot of the warranties and from my understanding, if AHS can't fix something, they will replace it. But in all the other ones, they won't do that. Overall, I've had a wonderful experience with AHS. I'm 63 years old and my husband is 67 and we live on a fixed income. Things worry me. We can't put a lot of money in the bank. We don't have a lot of savings. One issue with the washing machine or a heat pump or something would wipe us out and it would cause a really big hardship on us. That's why I get my warranty.

My wife bought the house over a year ago and got American Home Shield then. She's just renewed the policy for another year. Recently, Relaxed Heating and Air came out and I wasn't all that impressed. I wouldn’t ask them to come back out to the house again. I didn't happen to be at the house but my wife was. They got there quick and we had explained the situation. They looked at the thermostat and immediately went outside and replaced the motor in the outside unit. There are some wires attached to the top of the air conditioning unit with plastic ties. That was how they put it back in there. They weren't there before and I don't know if it was an older unit that they had to use a different motor. But that plastic tie wasn't gonna last on top of that with the sun beating down on it for very long. If that tie lets go, then the wires that it's holding up are not gonna be very good.
After they had left, we had some air for a little while then it stopped working. I called back and spoke with somebody at the office. I asked if anybody even took a look at the thermostat to make sure that it was properly set. My wife said they looked at it, saw what it was, flipped the switch, and went out and fixed the motor. The girl said she put a note on her boss's desk to have somebody come back out and look at it. But from the day they did the work last Wednesday or Thursday until today, nobody's called back or come out and looked at it.
It is now working because when I was there this weekend, I flipped a couple switches up and down and got some things done. But originally, we thought there was a problem with the thermostat. So, I called the thermostat people and didn't get a call back from them either. I went on Google and YouTube-d it, and we reset it. But because we had reset it prior to those people getting there, I wanted to make sure that they looked at it and made sure that all the toggles were where they were supposed to be because that particular thermostat is set up to use either gas or electric.
I'm not a heating or an air conditioning person but somebody should have at least called to make sure it was okay. Nobody did. If nothing else, somebody should’ve dropped by and checked it. To go one step further, we were kinda hoping we could get the people who replaced the condenser in that less than a month ago to come back out. They were pretty sharp and on the money. But I kinda know how the ship works. American Home Shield got different vendors and they gotta give them all some work. At this particular juncture, I don't even know if the thermostat is correctly set behind the faceplate because there's a set of eight toggle switches back there.
We do apologize for the late response pertaining to your air conditioner. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution in this case. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I'm retired now, so I said I didn't need them. I started looking around then I decided that maybe I needed a home warranty and I signed up with AHS. So far, the contractors that they sent out have been excellent. Recently, there was an issue with our refrigerator on the outside. You can get water or ice by putting your glass up there, but something happened to a part that provides that. I submitted a service request with AHS and they sent out the techs from Foothill Appliance. They did a good job but they didn't have the part and had to have it made from a 3D printer. That took quite a while for several weeks, but everything is wonderful now and the refrigerator works like a charm.

Pretty soon, I can buy my own fridge with that cost.
Recently, my pool had some error in its system. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Breakthrough Pools. The tech from there has been very professional. I had a rekey done through American Home Shield and it was really fast. The contractor called within a day or two and set up an appointment. So, it went really smoothly. We’ve had American Home Shield since last year when we moved out here to a different home. It was the home warranty that the Realtor had suggested and negotiated as part of the sale of the house. They've been pretty responsive. I had some issues with my refrigerator and they came out really fast and they had the local contractor came out and repaired it. It was the same thing with my dryer. Everything was happening all at once and it was like stupid little things that were very easy to fix that we just didn't know about.
The only time I had one issue was when we had a leak in the bathroom and it took over five days to get a service provider out here. That seemed more of that they just weren't available. It was like an emergency call. Every time I talked to Home Shield, they were not letting me go outside and find my own plumber. So it took about five days to get someone out here. Home Shield could allow local repairmen or plumbers to come out. The person they had come out was from Stockton. That's over an hour away from us. We could have just gone with a local plumber that would have probably had a more reasonable response time. But every other request we put in, they've been very responsive. It’s gone pretty well.

Excalibur was our assigned service provider for an AC claim we had with American Home Shield. They had to come out twice to fix the compressor fan outside which is like 32 years old. I just bought this house. The first time they came, the problem had something to do with the Freon. I had to pay for the visit and I also had to pay them for Freon to put in the compressor. I don't understand about electronics or AC but within a matter of four days, the AC stopped working after they had come out the first time. They had to come back out again. It was the fan. On both times, the fan was out.
Now, the AC is working fine except for the part where you control the temperature. Every time I try to change the temperature, it says temporary on it and I don't know why. I told the tech guy that they keep coming out here every week and I have to keep paying a service request every time for them to keep coming out and fix the problem. They might as well replace the unit because it kept going out. Also, because it was the same problem which was the compressor, I asked if it was counted as the same problem and I was told that it was something else. I asked if I had to keep paying them because it didn't make sense since the unit broke within four days. The tech said that the last time he was here, that part wasn't broken. We were also told that American Home Shield is the one who said that if something is fixable, they don't replace it. But the thing is it's the same thing that's been fixed twice now.
This is a third service request for the AC since I've been here in May. There was also a different problem in May. I felt like it was leaking in the walls. But the tech said, "No, it's because you don't have the vent." We were painting the walls so we took the vent covers off. He said that once we put the vent covers on, it won't leak. It was great and there was no leak. Overall, my experience is pretty good. Contractors come out as soon as you ask. I just hope that the same problem doesn't happen one more time.

I thought there were wires that were disconnected for the oven not to be able to auto clean. The technician came in and told me that I had to take the inside racks out in order to get it to work. We read the manual and he showed me how to clean the oven. Nothing was broken so everything was fine. Also, he wore his mask and there were precautions taken for Covid. But I dislike American Home Shield in every way. We ended up paying $3,000 out of pocket in everything that we did. I’ve had AHS since July of last year and it has happened three times. I have a light with my pool and I had a problem with it. AHS said that they were gonna take $75 out of my account in order to send somebody to my house. And then, it wasn't even covered. I had a problem with a pool pump another time and he said that it looked like something that I did so it was not covered. But he took my money anyway.
We also had an air conditioner problem. Whenever it was hitting 104 outside, it was 98 degrees inside our home. We had four small children at home because of COVID-19. Our air conditioner went out and the contractor came out and said that Freon was not covered. They left and we were without an air conditioner for four weeks. AHS did get us a pool filter finally after I threw a fit but then, our pool was left green. I said that they decided that this wasn't covered and then it was covered, and I ended up having to pay $800 to get the pool professionally cleaned. They said that they would help me if I give them an invoice. They would pay me $100. But I was not even gonna send that in. It was not worth my time.
There are 14 different pool companies here in Amarillo and we've asked repeatedly to be able to choose a different contractor. They all say this one guy is a joke and I don't understand why AHS uses this guy when there's a plethora of other contractors that they could use that are actual professionals. Maybe it's because they don't want to do the warranty work and American Home Shield doesn't pay the time until 362 days out. This was what Doug, the technician, told me. He said he was doing this job for me now but he won't get paid for a year on it.
There's no sense in us complaining. I don't want to keep AHS. Theoretically, it'd be great because we've fixed a couple of toilets. I called somebody out to look at the toilet. It would have been covered under the home warranty but the call out fee just for Frank's Plumbing was $89 and to fix the flange, he was gonna charge me $700. I fixed it by myself at Lowe's for 25.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Home Shield's service is getting better. The recent person was excellent. And then, the person who called back and helped us was also great. His name is Tyler. He was helpful and he did fix everything. We liked the service now with him and with the other person. There was a leak on the kitchen sink and they changed some part in the kitchen. There was a leak in the bathroom as well and they just put the new part into the bathroom.
One thing that I complained about Home Shield last year was that we had a sump pump issue. We couldn't understand each other because of Patriot. The guy didn't correctly fix the problem and he just made up some stuff. All the basement was underwater. He came and then tried to fix the sump pump. But then he never said that there was this foundation problem at all. Later on, when we called Patriot and they told us that foundation problem. We called five different companies to see if it was a foundation problem, and all of them said it was not. It was just a sump pump issue. We called Patriot again and the rep said, “We’re gonna write the invoice like this.” There was a lady that said he invoiced Home Shield, but I don't believe she did something.
I thought that the homeowner's insurance would help us to at least fix some part like the sump pump. We couldn't convince Home Shield that it was a sump pump problem. They chose to believe Patriot. I understand that they're working with Patriot, but they need to help us. I don't care about Patriot or any other service companies here that they're working with. We need to trust each other first. I was happy to provide all the letters from five different companies that it was not a foundation problem but a sump pump problem but Home Shield didn't believe me. And then, I called them three different times. They never answered. We spent $6,000 from our pocket under this COVID challenging time. We changed sump pumps. They're completely new. We don't have any problem anymore and I believe I will not have any more problem.
This year, I was hesitant to get Home Shield's insurance again. I'm just comfortable working with them. I want to give them one more year to see if it will be fine. Otherwise, I'll stop it. Hopefully it will work out between us and we will continue for a while with them. I'll try to find another insurance company if ever it happens again.

We kept having a different plumber come out through American Home Shield. We've had plumbing issues since we’ve moved in three years ago. They come out and snake the drain each time with the same company. This one was a new company that came out, and the guy identified why we were having the issue. He said we needed to cut the piping and redo it and that literally solved the problem. He’s not gonna have to come out and snake it again multiple times. He had to come back at once because when he was drilling a hole to fix the sink part of it, something shook loose in the sink. When we would turn on the water, it would start pouring out of the piping. But they fixed it and it was like a 10 minute job. We were very happy with that company. When the AC unit quit working because the compressor went out, I called American Home Shield and they scheduled an appointment. Elite Heating & Air Conditioning was really good about getting back to us. It was a Thursday night when I had the problem and they were here Friday morning and had it fixed for me in about five minutes.
I had an old microwave and it cost American Home Shield more to repair the item than it did to replace it. They should look at cost analysis and be aware that it's cheaper to replace things than repair them half the time. They'd rather repair everything and I understand the repair part but why spend $300 on a microwave that's not worth that much when they can put a new one in for $100 when it goes out.

We had a little misunderstanding on the first appointment the contractor made. I thought they were coming on Monday and they thought they were coming on Wednesday. They apologized and scheduled it. The guy came out the next day and did the work very quickly. Everything was done to our satisfaction. The toilet was leaking so the valve in it had to be replaced, which was easy. Then with the water heater, a thermostat needed to be adjusted. Another issue was in the kitchen, the hot water faucet was stuck and wouldn't move. It was frozen and the tech was able to free it up and lubricate it. In the end, it was all okay. I've had the policy with AHS for a long time. I'm very happy with it. It makes getting things repaired easy. I can just dispatch service online, which is very convenient. I don't have to go looking for a contractor.

The little latch on my microwave wasn't latching, so the door wasn't staying shut. I did a claim online about the week of July the 4th and a lot of places had shut down for that week. Gilmore called promptly after the week of the 4th, but I didn't know if they were shut down that week or not because I didn't hear from them at first. When they came out a couple weeks ago, the guy didn't have the part for my microwave, so he tied it up with a rubber band. That worked really well and then the next week, the parts came in. He came back and changed the parts out. He was great and it all works well.

The air conditioner cut off at some point during the day and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield on the website. I've used it a couple of times and it’s easy to use. The contractors came out the next day and it was a good service. It was very quick and efficient. It turned out that the drain pan into the condenser was overflowing and so, it did the automatic stop. The contractor cleaned out the drain that goes to the outside of the house. He was in and out in 30 minutes. The repair kept my air conditioning running more efficiently. I’ve used American Home Shield since 2000 and I’ve never had any complaints with them in former houses. I've used them for our air conditioning repairs and a dishwasher repair. I've always had a good experience with them.

The microwave completely went out. I called American Home Shield and said, "The microwave isn't working. I think it's a power issue." So they sent the electrician. The electrician came and tested all the outlets, and it wasn't a power issue. He said to just call American Home Shield and they'd reassign it to a microwave appliance fixing store. Appliance 911 came out and was very professional and he got the work done. He tested multiple things and found the problem, and it's been working since then.

I wasn't getting air in certain rooms. I live alone so I only use one air conditioner unit. The young fella from May Heating and Air came out and checked my air. He was a very young smart guy. I was using the top AC and he told me that I needed to use the bottom as well. He turned that one on and said to just leave that on. He made sure that the vents were turned properly. I appreciated him and he showed me how to turn my blinds and how to get air. He had his mask on too. I noticed a difference in that room where he turned the vent around, but my room is normally the coolest. Then the air downstairs is superb. I was concerned about the air up top. It's not super cold, but it’s tolerable. I have had some contractors that come out and they were horrible. I also have had some that come out and they were great.

My experience with American Home Shield has been outstanding. Submitting the claim is very easy when I do it on the internet. As long as I've got the login and password right, and I start saving it on my computer, it goes pretty smooth. Then a couple of hours or the next day later, I get a message with a schedule. The technician shows up one or two days after which is pretty good. It's within range. I used to have a different home warranty and they took a little bit longer. But Home Shield needs a little bit less of a lag between the service call and getting the technician to a house.
Most of the technicians care about the work. Sometimes, the scopes are a little bit different. I got a little bit of a hard time with the microwave technician because he's a technician and he doesn't take the microwave off because it's a unit that is fitted on the cabinetry. So I got to take the unit down. I wasn't aware of that from the get-go. If he or somebody have said that, we could have made this a whole lot smoother because I could have taken it down and I could have done a few things differently.

I've used American Home Shield twice, and the past two times, I didn't have any problem with them. A & A Heating & Cooling came out for my AC and they were very knowledgeable about it. The guy said a lot of the units right here were probably put in the house since 2002. He also said there was nothing wrong with the AC other than it is old and it has been extremely hot sometimes. He did the best he could and he said there was nothing to fix. The unit was dirty and he cleaned it out and said that it would help a little bit. He also explained that it makes our bill skyrocket. He said that if we wanted our bill to go down, eventually, we were gonna have to replace the whole unit. At another time, I had something break on the central unit and the response was quick. It ended up being the same guy and he did good at that time as well.

Following a service request for a garbage disposal issue, American Home Shield had CNJ Services do the work. When I called them the first time, the garbage disposal was making noise when we turned it on. But the water wasn’t going down. It wasn’t working. CNJ came out and they replaced the garbage disposal. But anytime we would turn it on, water would be shooting up to the ceiling in the room on the left side of the sink. The day after, I opened another ticket stating that the work wasn’t done right.
The same company had to come back out and they told my mom when they connected the garbage disposal. They did a good job. It had taken them two times to come and fix it but they fixed it right. The garbage disposal is working fine now. Sometimes it shoots a little bit on the left side but nothing like it was doing before. This repair has made washing dishes and cleaning up a lot easier. With American Home Shield, there is peace of mind knowing that if something happens I will get my stuff fixed at home.

American Home Shield has been very open. I had a lot of questions when I called in because I was looking at two different companies. They answered all my questions and they even sent me a side by side comparable that stated what they covered and what the other company did. That was very helpful. I signed up with them because a cousin of mine told me about it and they are good like she said. I also referred one of my buddies and he signed up with them a month ago. So far, American Home Shield has been excellent. When I called in, the ice maker was not making ice and the bottom drawer from the fridge was making too much ice. I have stuff added to my American Home Shield account that I had no knowledge of. When I found out about it, I asked them if they can remove it and they told me I will have to wait a whole year before I can have that removed off my plan. I asked why would they even add that on there. What we have is brand new, and it's under its own insurance. So if anything was to happen to it, we wouldn't even need to use the services to have it fixed. We’re paying an extra $18 a month for an electronic plan, and we don't need that.
American Home Shield is not upfront. I asked their rep, “Considering they’re gonna be coming out, do this company work on AC unit?” She said, “No, you have to pay an additional $100 because that's another program. That's another installer or someone else has to come out and do that.” So we pay $100 to each person that comes out here. The guy pulled up to work on the plumbing and outside was his van. He has AC, plumbing, and everything else which all align into what I needed. But they told me, “No.” Other than that, the person that came out was very thorough. He was very respectful to my home. He had his shoes wrapped and his mask was on at all times. He was letting me know what was going on and what was causing the issue and he fixed it.

The air conditioning wasn't working, so Weatherwise came out. They handled it pretty well. They got out here pretty quickly, too. American Home Shield's claims process is easy. You just do it all online. Last year, my AC went out, and the people they were using couldn't get here for a week. So, I had a problem with that. But this year, when I had an issue, they came right out. They had somebody come out and fix a leak in a pipe that I had last year as well, and they were supposed to give me a quote on getting the ceiling fixed because they cut a big hole in my ceiling, and nobody ever followed up with me about that. So I ended up just fixing it myself. But that was the only thing that they never followed up with me about.

A gentleman from A&G came out and he was very cordial and professional. He indicated he thought it might be that little piece on the top and he changed it. I waited a couple of days because I wanted to make sure there was no water coming from any place and it eventually dried. I had put everything back in the closet because it's obvious it's fixed.

We had a challenge with the oven. National Platinum initially came out on March and they replaced one of the main controls on the stove. We had another problem with it a few weeks later but we had a problem getting someone to come out. The young man came out and he said it was another part. But it took two or three weeks before they got the part. So my wife and I was without an oven the first time for three weeks and then the second time, it was closer to four weeks before they got the part.
The problem was that they didn't follow up the way I wanted them to. There was a lack of communication between the company and myself. I had to call them and have to stay on the line. I was on the line one time for 47 minutes before I've got an answer. The only reason why I stayed on that long was that I was sitting at my desk and I had the phone available and I was doing some more work. But they finally got the part. They came in and replaced it. But I had to go through more changes than I ever expected I would have to go through to get the services that we got. It's taken too long to get things up and moving.

Our upstairs A/C unit went out almost 2 weeks ago on July 27th. We registered the claim online, and were contacted by the local vendor the next day. They sent a junior technician on Wed who was unable to solve the problem, but was going to "let his supervisor know" and they would return the next day (Thursday). Nobody came that day, so we left a message with the vendor (no answer on the phone), and called AHS the next morning. The vendor finally called back on Friday to say that they couldn't come back until the following Monday, a week after the request was submitted. The AHS recommendation was to wait, since they couldn't get a vendor any sooner.
On Monday 8/3, they sent the SAME technician that couldn't figure out the problem the first time. He was on the phone a lot and thought it "might be the circuit board", but it wasn't until the end of the day when the supervisor showed up to confirm. They ordered the part, and said that it would now be Friday 8/7 at the earliest before they could repair the unit, 12 days after the initial request. Friday came, and the SAME technician showed up again to install the part. He left saying that it was working and the unit should be cooling soon. However, by the end of the day, the air was once again humid, in the upper 80s, and the fan wouldn't turn on. Now, they say that the earliest they can come back is Tues 8/11.
I have called AHS about the problem, and their only recommendation is that since it's the weekend, it might be faster to wait for the current vendor than start over. The call center team has been polite and professional but completely unhelpful in dealing with a substandard vendor. The only recommendations from AHS have been to wait it out, but it will have been over 2 weeks in the middle of the summer, and we still don't have a working A/C system. They need to manage their suppliers better, and have a better method for escalation. We are very disappointed with AHS's response to the situation.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came over and looked at everything, inside and out. That was the second time I requested them. They were straightforward and honest with me, and took care of the issue.
I just wish there was better communication between me and Home Shield after having talked to the contractor. Let's say there's an issue with the AC. The contractor would tell me and then he would say, "All right, well, let me contact the company, let them know what's going on." "Okay, no problem." And that was it. We can go for a week and no communication from anybody. I would have to call Home Shield and ask, "Did you guys hear anything from the contractor?" "Oh, yeah, we heard just five days ago. They told us this and this and that." "Okay, well, I wish I would've known. What's the next step here?"

American Home Shield has made the claims submission easy because it's online. I answer a few questions and then they contact the service company right away, and then the service company contacts me. It's very simple for me to do and it's efficient because I prefer not having to call somebody up if I can just do it online. It's exactly what I expect. The first time I had R Harris A/C come out, I had some water in the pan in my AC unit and they unplugged it. They also had some trouble with the capacitor, so they replaced that. Then a week ago, I had them come out and look at my AC 'cause the unit stopped working. They found out that the capacitor they put in had a defect and it wasn't working, so they replaced that. R Harris did a great job. They explained to me how it worked and what was wrong. I'm very happy with everything they did.

I had a leak in the tank water heater American Home Shield never resolved the claim. I called July 25th which was a Saturday, and that's when the tank water heater started leaking. They said not to worry and opened the case. They read me a plumber in my area and I went to Yelp to look up their reviews. They gave me Budget Rooter first but they had 1-star reviews. I told American Home Shield I didn’t want them so they gave me Advanced Plumbing and Rooter. They had 3.5 stars, and that’s better than 1.
American Home Shield scheduled with Advanced Plumbing and Rooter. They gave me their direct line. I tried calling them but they never answered. I called them again multiple times on Saturday and Sunday but still, there was no answer. I called them Monday morning and there was no answer until 9:30, at which point they said they've received the claim from American Home Shield and they're closed on the weekends. Another thing that American Home Shield should know is which plumbers are open on weekends if you have an emergency.
The earliest Advanced Plumbing and Rooter could come out was Tuesday. I told them my water heater was still leaking and asked if somebody could either drain it or do something. They said they didn't have anybody to come out. They came out Tuesday and essentially took pictures, looked at it, and said it was an internal leak. It couldn't be repaired. They wrote up a ticket and their recommendation was to replace it. I asked how long before they could get a replacement. They said it would go back to American Home Shield and they’re gonna have to approve it. There could be additional costs. I asked what the additional cost was. This is a 5 year old house and the tank water heater may even be under warranty. They just had to replace the unit. They said it looked like I had some sort of an expansion tank. I told them it came with the house. They said American Home Shield should be in touch with me on the next steps.
I called American Home Shield again on Tuesday and they started escalating the case to see if they could process it faster. I waited till Wednesday to see if they could do an approval. I called American Home Shield again and they said it was still pending on the Authorization Department. I called them again Thursday and Friday but there was nothing. By Saturday, it had been a week and it was still leaking. I called them, and said, “This is ridiculous. A week has gone by. You've got the paperwork from Advanced Plumbing and Rooter that it needs to be replaced. All you have to do is authorize it.” When I called early in the week to Advanced Plumbing and Rooter, they said it was under warranty. As soon as they get the authorization, they can take the order out, swap it in, and they'll come and put it in.
I call American Home Shield and there is an hour hold time everyday. Each time I get to an agent, they tell me they’re doing everything they can. It’s being escalated. But American Home Shield never came back and never authorized the repair. The plumber has noted it’s leaking, supplied pictures, taken a picture of the serial number and model number. It's been over two weeks and they haven't resolved it. Somehow, it's lost in their system and yet, it stays open. What I did was, just over a week into it, I paid myself and got it replaced. We are now on August 11th. I was assured this would be escalated and it would be resolved. It hasn't. Literally, I paid $75 for a plumber to come out and confirm it’s leaking. I could have told them that and send them pictures.

The contractor that came out recently for my garage door opener was very friendly, very helpful and he came out and identified my issue and tried the logic board first to see if it works but it didn't work. So he got the whole new setup approved and got it taken care of and we're thrilled with it. However, sometimes AHS just takes the cheap way out instead of trying to do what's right. I haven't tried to take advantage of them, but as I've had issues arise, I definitely haven't hesitated to use them.
On the cheaper repairs, like the garage door opener or my icemaker that was messed up, they've been pretty easy to work with. It was no questions asked. They just jumped in and did what needed to be done. But I've been going back and forth since May on my air conditioner unit. I was just on the phone with them this morning and they were definitely just trying to do what's cheap in spite of the recommendation that it needs to be replaced by one of their contractors. This morning was a very good and pleasant experience though. I think it was because I called on a Saturday morning. Normally though, when I call during the week, whether it's morning or afternoon, I'm on the phone at least an hour.

The thing, however, with Home Shield is depending on the claim that you open with them, they can make your life really difficult. If it's something like the AC this time, it was super easy because the contractor was able to fix the problem in the first visit. But I had experiences where that I had to call five, six times, and beg Home Shield to send a second technician or company to do a second opinion. In the end, I was able to make it work. But it's a battle with them. If Home Shield sees something that is more expensive than what they saw, it's an uphill battle with them to get somebody to do the job on their behalf.

So we went back to American Home Shield. They sent out a guy from Everyday Heating and Cooling who was absolutely super. He came out the first time and we had no Freon at all in our air conditioner and he had to fill it up. Five days later, we called back and he started coming in to check. He guaranteed us that until they could get this fixed, we would not be out of air conditioning. He said that we would not suffer and that we would be taken care of, and he did. Every five days, he was out there checking and making sure everything was right.
When the guy finally got authorization to do the additional check, the guy was out there on the button and handled it. He told us what was going on and why it was going on. When he found the problem, he came up and told us about that and told us what it was gonna take to fix it, and how long it would take him. He stood by his word and when he was all through, he told us to not hesitate to call if we would have any problems. He was friendly and very confident. He didn't drag his feet and spend a whole lot of time. He did what he needed to do and let us know what was going on and went to his next job. We were very impressed with him. City First Electric came out for the attic fan and they didn't handle it very well. They were not good. I engineer and design that kind of ventilation systems for the Navy, so I'm pretty familiar with that type of fan and how they work. The City First Electric guy got off his truck and said, "You have gable vents. I can tell you 99% of the houses have the attic fan installed this way and it's not covered,” before even looking at it.
He went and installed my GFCI outlet that was burned out. He replaced it and he was giving me a long spiel about how he buys only Chinese-made outlets because the American ones suck. He installed this outlet that had Chinese writing on the box in my kitchen. I don't know where he gets them from or the standards. I also deal with electrical at work and I've never seen that type of outlet. After he replaced the outlet, he said, “Plug in your espresso maker. See if it works.” I go to turn it on with just water, and he said, “No, no, no, put a pot in it.” So I put a coffee pot in it and it made coffee. As soon as it made coffee, he said, “I’ll take that.” That was pretty unprofessional.
The other thing was he took a quick peek into the attic access in the hallway and he went up there. He was up there for maybe 20 seconds, came back down and said it was not covered. I asked why it was not and he said attic fans are not supposed to be installed on gable vents. I told him they are. That’s standard practice. It's common as long as the feet per second and the restriction are taken into account and it's installed according to manufacturer's instructions. He said it's not covered and it is. I was very, very disappointed with that company. I would never use them ever again. I had my mask on as a courtesy to him because he was in my house and because it's standard practice right now in our current situation in the world. He didn't. He kept putting his on his chin and being open like that. That was another thing that was pretty unprofessional. There was a whole slew of disappointment there.
I have two GFCIs, one is in the kitchen and the other is on the outside wall of the kitchen. They sent an electrician out here and told me my exterior outlet was not covered. That was awful. Nowhere in my contract does it say that exterior outlets are not covered. To keep customers happy, it wouldn't be difficult to just tell the electrician to change out that exterior outlet. It's gonna cost $3. It's not expensive and the customer is gonna be happy. That would take a couple minutes of the electrician’s time.

It turned out to be the first thing they thought of which was pretty easy for them. Also, they were wearing masks and they were sanitizing. Everything kind of worked out for the best. But when we replaced our hot water heater, we had to get it all up to code and we had to pay for that. Other than that, I have no other complaints.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

Home Shield made me wait four days to get water in my house. They said that there was a long list for B&B Plumbing and I had to wait. So, I waited. But the B&B Plumbing guy made up for it. He was fantastic. He cleaned the sink thing that was there. Nobody has ever climbed behind for as long as this house has been built. He fixed the plumbing part that was missing and the part that went to the washing machine. The faucet that he got is gorgeous.

My air conditioner started screaming. I turned it off and I called American Home Shield. They scheduled the appointment right away and it went smoothly. The appointment was for Friday and the company called me on Thursday and said that they had an opening if I had time. So they came early. The guy knew what he was doing and fixed my air conditioner right away. It took him less than an hour. He replaced the motor and it was flawless. It was a seamless transaction. It was really hot these days and I was impressed that they came here early.
I made three claims on the same day. I'm still waiting for the other two to be attended to. But so far, everybody has done what they've said they're gonna do. So overall, I'm pleased. I had somebody come out for a plumbing issue. But there was some drywall that needs to be cut. Apparently, everything is covered except for the cutting of the drywall. So a handyman is coming to my house to do it. Then I'll get back to reschedule with the plumber. It's not super convenient but it's fine. The other claim was for what I thought an electrical issue. But come to find out that it's a broken ceiling fan, which is also gonna be attended to. So the electrician was already out. He's waiting to get approval from AHS so that he can go ahead and do it. But I'm pretty sure that AHS has already approved it. So for the most part, I'm pleased.

Sun Kings Construction's service was good and the guy was so kind. They tried to fix the problem on the first go. I called them because I heard a drop from my walk-in closet but there is no evidence that it is something like water so they couldn't do anything. We have been with this problem since some years ago. It appears like a water stain. They checked and there's no evidence that it's broken. If I have an evidence, I will call them again.

National Platinum came out to fix my freezer, my water maker, and the ice maker on my refrigerator. Other than the time frame that it took, the technicians did what they were supposed to do. It took several weeks for them to get it done but they did a pretty good job. It's working fine since. I've had Home Shield for five years now and it's a pretty good convenience to have. When items get broken, it's good to have.

The initial call was for AC services but the contractor said that my main drain was clogged so they unclogged it. It didn't take long and I haven't had the problem again. I got American Home Shield in 1996 when I first got my house. I've been off and on depending on my money but they’re the only warranty I've ever had on my house. I have another one for my mom's house but I'm beginning to realize they're all pretty much the same.
I'm very hard to please so overall, I don't like warranty programs because of the service providers that they utilize. Some of them are scammers. For instance, I called in a few months back because my hot water heater was leaking. The plumber that came out for that told me all of this stuff that needed to be done. By the time it was all over, I would have been paying $1,200 out of pocket. I had to pay the $75 service charge too. I called someone that I knew. He charged me 120 and the hot water heater wasn't even busted like they said it was. American Home Shield was ready to cut me a check for a whole hot water heater but they need to do a better job. They need to make sure they're following up and getting feedback from the customers because we're getting ripped off over here. These people are getting paid and they're not doing the service.

There was an issue with the icemaker and American Home Shield sent out Midwest Marketplace. They analyzed and found out it was the pump that had the issues, and they corrected it. Submitting a claim to AHS is simple but they should increase some of the limits on what they have for items like sump pump costs to factor in more expensive homes. It should not be a generic price for all. Still, they did a good job.

I'm waiting for the local repair guy from Phil's Good for my one air conditioning repair tomorrow. They scheduled tomorrow morning. Hopefully, they do a good job. I've been with American Home Shield for about a year, and the service has been good. I have two occasions to have their insurance and pay the monthly fee. I received an email that said, "Contact us." I typed in, but there was no response. They probably can review their website. I clicked on the "contact us" and there was no reaction. This morning, I called and I did a 30 minutes holding. But whenever I called, even for long holding, their response is pretty fast.

American Home Shield provides great service. When a part for my dishwasher was discontinued, I received a phone call from American Home Shield saying I would get a replacement on my dishwasher. A Town was the contractor they sent. The company reached out to me as soon as the claim was filed and they told me that I had to have the appliance for them to do the installation. I was to reach back out to them once I had it.
A Town did very well and their technicians were nice. It was just the company that delivered the dishwasher took two and a half months. That was my issue. I would call every couple of weeks. My wait time would be three and four hours when I'm waiting for someone to come on. There was only one time when after waiting for two hours, I was prompted to be in line and someone would call me when it was my turn. That was very good but to have somebody on hold for two hours before that's initiated, that wasn't an option. I'm working from home so I'm on call too. Everyone has had to adapt during this time and American Home Shield's customer service could do a better job adapting.

The days I was calling American Home Shield was 24 hours of waiting. I would wait six hours. I just let the phone ring because I was watching TV. And I'm getting this from all the people that work for these companies that are coming into my house. The representatives are absolutely excellent but getting on the phone is hours. I calculated all the hours that I waited. It was almost 24 hours in a matter of the two weeks that I tried to call, and that was horrible. Right now, I had three different representatives come to my house because they couldn't figure out that the microwave was broken. They said, “Oh, it's got power.” “Oh, it's your electric.” Nobody would take it down. I have to get a friend of mine to take it down because nobody took it down. The gentlemen that came from the different places were all very nice, but nobody took it down.
Finally, I spoke to one representative of AHS where the ordering department was. They sent me a check. So, I got the microwave. I have to send receipts to AHS because I didn't do it yet because I haven't had time yet. So finally, I got the thing. I don't even wanna call because I’d wait hours. I guess I'm gonna pay somebody to install them for me because I got the dishwasher yesterday. They sent me money for those things and today this morning, I'm waiting for the guy from Big Al’s to come.
There was someone from Asko that got my panel on my electric stove installed. That was what went out, and my oven didn't work. The top works but the oven didn’t. So, he came and he changed it, but we never tried to see how it worked. He just installed it, “Okay, it’s done,” and left. He got attitude I didn't like. But the guys from R&R and Big Al's are excellent. The one from Asko was just not doing it. He said, “Oh, no. The microwave’s fine. You have an electrical problem.” I didn't have an electrical problem because another kid came from R&R and he said, “No. The electrical is fine.”
The guy from Asko replaced the thing on the back of the oven for the oven to work. We were waiting for it to go at 350. It never came on to 350. It just kept preheating. So, my son threw a pizza in there and it burned the pizza. So now this morning, Big Al’s called me and said, “Oh, we got the part.” To call AHS is a trip. I can't wait. My family is like, “Ma, you’re still on the phone?” I said, “This is ridiculous, but I have to do this.”
I was calling the lady from Big Al's. I love her. She's so nice. She’s work with all these companies. She said American Home Shield is the best one. I never had any problems like this before. Just the waiting on the phone is very frustrating. So now, Big Al’s is coming this morning to put whatever that needs for the relay. I'm gonna ask them to wait to make sure it goes on to temperature because the other guy just said, “Okay, it's in." It doesn’t even work. Good thing I have a toaster oven to be able to put things in it when I need the oven part.
Other than those, I've had no problems with Home Shield. I understand we're all going through this time right now. I know that everybody's got their issue and problems and we're just trying to get through life right now. But the timing to wait for an operator is ridiculous. They're all excellent. Kudos to them. Every person that I spoke to were so kind. They always say, “Would you give us feedback on your experience?” But then they hang up the phone really quickly when I was ready to do it. AHS needs to get people to answer the phone.

I bought my policy when I bought the house and I've had it for about two years. American Home Shield made submitting claims an easy process, but it'd be nice if the policies were more clear on what they cover and what they don't. Sometimes it's vague, and I think it's vague for a reason ‘cause they’re not quite sure what the damage is or what has gone wrong. With our AC claim, Clovis Heating and Cooling came out for my unit and they did a good job. We had one issue with the refrigerator prior to this one and it took over 48 hours for me to get somebody out or for me to get ahold of anybody from American Home Shield.
My food was going bad and the refrigerator wasn't working. They also didn't have anybody in the area, so I didn't have a good experience the first time and ended up paying for that out of my own pocket to get taken care of. I didn't bother with submitting it for reimbursement to them because it was too complicated. On the other hand, the second time with the AC has worked well and I'm gonna keep them around for a little bit longer. I'm renting out the house now, so it's nice having them in case something goes wrong.

I love American Home Shield. I've already recommended them and I speak with everybody about them. My nephew and another friend have contracts with them. My only complaint is there are additional fees sometimes. I had to have my air conditioner unit replaced, but the people charged a $1,200 excess fee. The space was tight, but $1,200 was a lot of money. Then there was something when I had to get a new hot water heater. This was Grade A Plumbing and they did a good job installing the hot water heater. However, two things weren't covered and that was almost $600. Maybe there can be a limit to additional charges that these companies charge. I purposely have American Home Shield because I am a single parent and on a budget. When companies come and they charge whatever they want to additionally, that's more of a hardship for me.
I was having an issue with my oven so I called the gas company to make sure it wasn't a gas leak with the oven and it wasn't, but they found one in the basement. The gas company had to turn the gas off. Until that was fixed, they would not turn the gas back on. The contractor came out Tuesday and I put the claim in Thursday. I thought it was a little long, but maybe they figured the gas was cut off anyway. But the person who came out, Roy, did a good job. I'm gonna put in a claim soon for my oven. I canceled the claim once the gas company found the gas leak and I put in for the plumber to come out. Once I put the claim in for the person to come out to check the oven, I don't know does that work. Is there a list that I can look at or would they send someone. They sent someone out from Sears in the past for my refrigerator. I could just request that Sears come out and look at my oven but I would have to call because they don't give you the option online.
There was one company that I had a complaint with because they gypped me out of money. When someone was coming out to look at my HVAC system, the guy said that it was a shredder leak. He claimed he fixed it and charged $400 for the refrigerant, but he didn't fix the leak. The refrigerant leaked out and I had to get someone else to come out. I don't know if that was just that one person, but I don't want them ever in my house again because that was money that I didn't really have to kick out.

I initially went online to submit the claim for our air conditioning but I wasn't happy with who they assigned for it. I looked up the reviews on that particular company that was automatically assigned and they weren't that great and they were far away from where I live. So I called the 800 number and spoke to someone on the phone and they set it up. They were very helpful and told me they would see if they could find someone closer. Then Plumbers, Inc. came and they were great. They fixed our air conditioning. The service technician was El Toro and I was very impressed by him. He fixed it that same day. Everything has been good. This is our second home that we have used American Home Shield and we are very pleased with all the service that has been provided to us.

Our air conditioning unit stopped working Monday evening, so I put in a claim hoping that I could get someone assigned and reach out to them to come look at it as soon as possible. American Home Shield is always really quick about sending their recommended contractor to come out. So I got one first thing on Tuesday morning. I reached out to Climate Masters but unfortunately, I didn't have an appointment until that Thursday, but it is what it is. They came out and finished the work. A comparable price would've been about three times what I paid if I didn't have the deductible from American Home Shield. So I was pretty happy with the service.
I've used American Home Shield before for a couple other appliance issues in the past. I reupped my contract for another year with them and I've been really happy so far. When I first signed up for it, I had to put through a couple of claims immediately due to some issues we were having with some appliances. So I'm pretty familiar with the process now. But it's super simple. You just go on the website to request a claim. All my information auto-populates and I just have to select what the issue is. I haven't had any concerns with that so far. The only caveat to having someone managing your claim for you is that you don't get to pick your service provider. I had one issue in the past where I was not able to get an appointment with someone with the time frame and American Home Shield recommended someone else that was able to come out quicker.
The pricing is very straightforward. The contract itself that they send in the mail and is available online is pretty straightforward. It's been an easy process to realize that if any of your major appliances go up, it's a one-stop shop and you can go and kinda have someone manage the whole thing for you. So I find it to be pretty convenient. My parents live in Texas and their air conditioning unit went up two days ago. They don't have a home warranty and they had to pay for a whole replacement unit, which was over $3,000. But when I had an issue with my air conditioner, the contractor was able to come out and fix the issue and diagnose it for $75. So when you pay for that whole year of $400 for the contract, it more than makes up for itself.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Although we hope there are no issues in the future, we are here if you need us.

I had a very satisfactory experience with the GE Appliance man. I found him to be very helpful, prompt and professional. Then, he submitted his findings and it kinda deteriorated after that. I'm not having a very satisfactory follow-up experience with American Home Shield. The repairman determined that my dishwasher was not able to be fixed since the part is no longer made and recommended a replacement. This was approved and I was sent a form that had three options - one is that American Home Shield would purchase and install a Whirlpool stainless steel dishwasher, or I could get it from Home Depot, or American Home Shield would send me a check or reimburse me for one that I bought myself. I sent in a request that American Home Shield buy and install the Whirlpool dishwasher that they said they would. I have not had any response back and I spent about three hours on the phone being transferred from one person to another. Finally, the battery on my phone went out so I had to start all over again.
I still have not had the issue of my dishwasher being resolved and I don't think that the amount of money they are reimbursing is equal to the quality of the one that I have. They never answered. I kept being handed off from one phone person to another. Each one of them required at least 20 or more minutes of wait-time and I was in a line for a call. Finally, after the fourth person that I talked to, they said I could give them my number and they would schedule a phone call to phone me back, and they never did.

Back in February, 495 Garage Door came and replaced the garage. They put in a new motor and a new chain. They came a couple of times to finish the whole process. And then a few days later, we saw screws on the floor. The pandemic hit. Then my husband, instead of calling Home Shield and 495, he just went up the ladder and put the screws in himself. And then, nothing happened after that. But somewhere along the way, the code that we put in when those guys were here automatically changed to 0000. I'm not sure why and how that happened. And then, it completely stopped working again. The chain broke because the screws were still loose and still dropping down. I called 495 directly first and they said that we need to go through Home Shield. I called them and they sent 495 again. The guy came that day and he fixed it.
I tried to call Home Shield last week when the contractor was supposed to come. I called for four days straight and nobody answered at their end. I was on hold for 40 minutes every day. The system would say to leave a message and, “We will call you back,” but no one called me back. What I was trying to call them for was an issue that was already there before. It was disheartening because the kids go in that garage to get their bikes and stuff all the time and the screws fall up and down. This guy who just came put in extra screws and tightened it. I hope it's gonna be fine this time.

The AC was turning on and everything, but the house wasn't cooling off. I called in and asked about when to expect the contractor because no one had contacted me. Home Shield had my home number as my contact number. The company had reached out to schedule a time on that Friday, but they didn't get in contact with me just because I was simply outside. I called Home Shield back on Saturday and said no one has contacted me. I live in Yuma, Arizona and it's pretty hot. And then, Home Shield reached out to Fleshers Refrigeration and they reached out to me. They came that same day. Everything was great. They asked a few questions, and then went and looked at the unit and told me what the problem was. They had everything they needed to fix it on-hand, so then they went ahead and fixed. They replaced the refrigerant in my AC. The whole thing may have taken about 40 minutes.
I’m not home a lot so I didn't want to have something break when I'm not at home. I had to pay a month-to-month and the $75 whenever the contractor comes out. Since 2008, the AC has been serviced two or three times. I've had the water heater replaced two or three times, and I've had the dishwasher serviced. I've had a refrigerator completely replaced. The warranty could be a bit lower on the month-to-month charge because it went up over the years, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm not too mad about it.

With improvement in a couple different small areas, American Home Shield could get better. One of my appliances has to be replaced and I have to wait for three hours on the phone to get someone on their system. There's no feature to have them call me back. They have a callback option on their primary line, but on the other support lines, like for replacement appliances, they do not. I woke up on a Monday morning and my freezer was leaking and it wasn't freezing. It was also making a loud noise. So, I immediately put in a request to American Home Shield to get a repair on it. It took a little bit of time for me to hear from Gulf Appliance Repair. I called them and they told me that they had not received the request yet from American Home Shield. They told me as soon as they did, they would call me. So it was after 24 hours and then, they called me. They didn't have an appointment for several days and that was concerning because it was the freezer and everything in the freezer.
I let them know that I would need something earlier and they ended up calling me back and they gave me a sooner appointment. They ended up giving me two days. I spoke with them and they indicated to me that they had gotten a lot of requests because some of the companies that work with American Home Shield were going out of business with the COVID, so they had been really behind. We made the arrangements and the person they sent was good. The freezer ended up being fixed and the noise subsided. All ended well. Everybody who has come over here has been very highly qualified and capable. So, I've been happy with this service. It's just that when you're having that kind of need, the sooner the better. They should have enough vendors to be able to send someone over. It may be related to COVID that this has happened and maybe in the past, it hasn't been an issue.

I had a problem with my refrigerator and American Home Shield sent Brandt's Appliance. They said they fixed the problem but it came back. This whole thing went on for a couple of months. They fixed it and it worked a little bit but it wasn’t making ice and wasn’t cooling. I called them and they sent somebody out, and they supposedly fixed it. Then, shortly thereafter, the same ice maker stopped working and I had no ice for several days. So, I called them back. About five days later, they came out but by then, the icemaker had started working beautifully. I tried to explain to him what happened but he said it’s working and he couldn’t do anything about it.
Then, not only did the fridge stop, but it stopped cooling again the night before. I called them and they replaced the circuit board. There are three electrical systems in the back of the fridge but they only replaced two. But be that as it may, it worked for a while and then it started acting up again. Somebody came out at no cost and they fixed it. They said something was freezing up behind the freezer.
I bought two ice makers that you put water in and put in the freezer. I haven't done that since I was a child and I'm 75 years old. That's what I have in the freezer making ice because this ice maker never goes more than a quarter full. So if you have several people and you make a little ice of it, there is none. I even went as far as buying another refrigerator because I had so much trouble with the claim. Now, I have a refrigerator in the garage and I have two ice trays in the bottom making ice. I said in my mind that I’m not gonna call back about this ice maker. I’ll just live with it until whenever.
I have an LG convection oven and the first week of May, the largest burner stopped working. It has a very large, a medium, two small burners and a warmer in the middle back. I dreaded to even call AHS. I waited a few days because after my experience with the refrigerator, I just didn’t need one more stressor. But I called AHS and they took the $100 on May 3rd. They sent somebody out from Sears who came out, assessed and said the burner was bad. It made sense to me because the burner wasn't working. They ordered the parts and when it came, I had to call them back to let them know. They came out, put it in and lo and behold, the burner didn’t work. So, before we left, the technician was on the phone with American Home Shield.
There was something in the back of the stove that needed to be repaired because it was not the burner. Now, I have my burner that they took out, the new that they brought and the stove is still not working. Something for the electrical part of the stove in the back was ordered and I have to wait for it to come. The technician claimed he couldn’t get it. So, he had American Home Shield order the part. Eventually, the part came and I called American Home Shield. Then I called Sears. They said that I called so, I have to pay for that cost. AHS has to call them. This is COVID and it takes an hour and a half on the phone to get American Home Shield. The calls take a long time.
When I had Sears on the line, I couldn’t reach AHS but I eventually did and they sent the Sears guy out. When he came out, the part wouldn’t work though. Now, I have an extra burner, the electrical parts in the back and the stove is still not working. I waited because it’s frustrating to try to reach somebody. Eventually, I thought that something was strange. This is not an old stove. It is not even fully 9 years old until September 1st. They can’t get the part and they keep getting the wrong parts.
I called AHS and I asked what model number they have. The model number that the rep read to me was not the model number for the stove. I got the manual right in front of me and I gave her the right model number and said that was why the parts didn't work. The burner probably worked because it’s a standard large burner for an electric stove, but the mechanics in the back have to be specific to the model. So, I gave her the model number and she said alright. I'm still waiting.
I just got off the phone with AHS this morning because I've been trying to reach them from Friday and no good luck. Sometimes you talk to somebody after you wait for an hour and a half, somebody comes on, deals with you and they couldn’t make any decision. They have to reach a supervisor. Then in the process, the phone cuts off and they don't call back. So, you're out of an hour and a half and you have to either call back that same day or some other day when you get ahold of all the anxiety and the stress of the calling.
I managed to reach somebody this morning after holding for an hour. The rep came on and she apologized. I gave her all the information. I wanted to know what was going on with the claim and she looked it up.Then, she reached out to Sears, even though I just told her everything. They're still in the process of trying to get the part. They now have the correct model number so, hopefully, that's the part that the guy thinks is wrong because I have no way of knowing. This is August and this was from May. I just got off the phone with the rep and I am waiting for them to hopefully get the right part, and my stove will be fixed. I love to cook and I cook at least every other day in my house. It’s annoying that my largest burner on my stove isn't working. Depending on what I'm cooking, and I'm using a large pot, it’s just not the same. I'm sure AHS is probably a good company but it's unfortunate that my experience is very bad.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.
