At first, we thought it was a plumbing issue. Every time you put the water on it runs everywhere, then it backs up on us. When the plumber came, they said it’s a pipe that’s clogged somewhere that’s why the water is backing up. They claimed that there was a sock stuck in my pipe and someone would have to go to the roof to get it out to unclog the pipe. But they never fixed it so we went around the other route. American Home Shield sent the washing machine people out and they said I needed a break valve. They said they’re gonna take it from there and see whether they can stop the leak. They ordered some parts and we never heard from them.
I’ve been trying to do this for over a month and I've had 3 companies come out so far. American Home Shield is lousy. When you call on the phone, you got to wait for an hour or two for somebody to even answer the phone. Before the pandemic, you gotta wait at least 40 minutes but now, it’s really, really long. I tried to call them the other day and I couldn’t get through. I’m gonna call them tomorrow and see what’s taking the appliance people that long.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

Submitting claims is simple when I do it online. But to call in, I have difficulties with the person understanding what I'm trying to explain to them. They don't give an option for a company to use. They just pick a company and that's who they send. American Home Shield should give us more options as far as vendors and if we're not satisfied with a particular vendor, they should allow us to choose another vendor versus if that vendor comes out and say the same thing, then we're gonna be charged, thus allowing us to have a second opinion if we don't agree with what that vendor was saying. Other than that, I hadn't had any issues. A lot of the things that I have put in for service, I've had quick responses, except when it comes to my air conditioner. They come out and do the work. Recently, the guy from Midstate Appliance Repair came out and fixed the appliance issue. He handled it pretty well.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

American Home Shield has done a really good job for us. We had another company before them and they were terrible, so we decided to switch. Some friends of ours had American Home Shield and they told us good things about it. We did a service request and the tech showed up on the day of the appointment. It took a little while, but I’m sure, with the summer, everybody's got things going on. The tech knew what was wrong with our spa pool and said he had the part with him and he fixed it the same day.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

There was an AC issue at the rental property. AHS sent out Weatherwise to look at it and the tenant said it went really well. We’ve had AHS on different properties and we’ve had it on the home. Sometimes the wait is so long if you don't submit claims online but other than that, everything’s fine.

We've had Myers Comfort Specialist come out twice for the air conditioner and they were very nice and friendly. I'm still not certain our issue’s resolved, though. The air conditioner has gotten better, but it has not been able to keep up with what we've set it on and I'm giving it a couple more days to see if it catches up. To submit my claim, one time, I called, and another time, I did it online. At one point, I had an issue with the website and I couldn’t get it to work properly. Still, I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. I have had constant problems with a fairly new house and I wish I'd gotten it a long time ago.

There was a leak underneath the sink which caused the center island to flood. So, we couldn’t figure out what that was. There was also what was a blockage. Adam, the rep from Hers and His Plumbing, fixed that and then also determined that the disposal needed to be replaced. So, he replaced that. Then, on a secondary call, he found this massive clog in one of the drains underneath the house, which was causing the actual issue. He took four hours and I was shocked. I thought he was gonna say that that was all he could do but he still went under the house.
Later that night, the upstairs shower blocked up and I thought that he must not have gotten it all. So, I ended up calling them back and Adam came out again. I told him that from a timing perspective, this has to be related. He checked it out and fixed the clog. He said that it was weird timing but he it had nothing to do with the other clog. He was super and he went above and beyond. He cared that the job was finished well and he was incredible. The guy is so full of integrity. He made American Home Shield look like a hero.
We joined American Home Shield in June and we became active in July 9th. But we were also previous customers a while ago. My dad had to go through a couple of different warranty companies and we’ve had the best service through AHS. It was serendipitous that we joined American Home Shield right before we had this flooding so that worked out well. That claim was great but the range hood claim is a little bit of a different story. The people were good but I have a $3,300 replacement and AHS was only willing to give me $275 for it. But the point is Hers and His Plumbing was amazing. I hope I never have to use anyone else. I wish every single repair went as smoothly. It went super well.

I had a dripping water heater. Submitting the claim was easy. And then, The Lindsay Company came out and all the problem was was my drain valve. There was something that had failed in it. It took the tech about 10 minutes to correct it and it's okay now. Home Shield has been great and saved me money on a lot of situations. They've been very helpful and very professional in all situations.

ReKey was very prompt. They got us scheduled right away and got there. The guy was very courteous and was in and out. This is our first positive experience with American Home Shield. The very first one we had scheduled was for our water softeners and that was a dud. American Home Shield scheduled it and told them exactly what it was with the company. The company come out and said, "Oh, we don't service that." They literally just walked up and walked out.
American Home Shield could've told us that it wasn't covered under our plan which we inherited from the previous homeowners. I submitted it online and told them exactly what it was. When they connected us with the company, I even told the lady, and they sent somebody out still. They want you to dig into the contract which I know that's a lot of it. Something within the website needs to key in. When you're typing something in, it needs to key in if it isn't part of the contract. But after the claim with ReKey, we've had their contractor out for another service that they fixed right away.

The motor on the pump was not working. It was two summers ago, the motor on the pump went and a different company came in and supposedly replaced the motor. Then it went out again the next summer, and that was when Expert Pools came out. The guy ran the serial number on the motor that was replaced, and it was an eight-year-old motor that the other company had put on it. I called AHS and made a complaint when the guy told me what the deal was. Expert Pools has been out several times putting band-aid on this old motor. Then last time, it just finally was completely shot and they replaced it. They were wonderful.
This is our fourth home to have American Home Shield with. We had one since 1988. The only time that we ever were not with them was, when we got a home warranty for the first year we owned a home. But as soon as that was up, we've always gone back to American Home Shield. I'm completely satisfied. I've never had any issues with them. They've always been very prompt about covering. Other than that one pool technician, typically the contractors that are sent to my house were awesome. I am begging my children to go with AHS and they were like, “Oh, I'll do it later.” I was like, “Okay. It’s a lot of peace of mind.”

Everyday Heating and Cooling is the one that always comes out for my AC claims and they are awesome. They say when they’re gonna be here and they're gonna be here. They tell you the step by step what they're doing. They let you know what's going on, what problems there are, and what they have fixed. We had to have Freon and we paid part of it. He told us exactly, right off, the amount. They were also very good about their precautions due to the pandemic. We've had American Home Shield since 1998 and we loved them. I like the claims process. You don't have to wait on the phone and they are very quick with the turnover. But we're still paying the same price and now they have discontinued things. The service as far as what they cover has changed quite a bit.

Three weeks ago, I had a blower motor in our air conditioning and heating unit that went out and American Home Shield replaced it. When the contractor came that day, they took the part, but they didn't do the repair that day. They had to order the part and they got it fixed the next day. However, I noticed last night it's getting really loud, so I was thinking I might have to call them back out. Still, it’s been easy to navigate on the internet and getting a repair person out to do the repairs. That's the easiest part.

Submitting the claim to AHS was very easy to do and their response time was quick. The tech they sent, Vladimir, was very knowledgeable and enjoyable to have around. My air was blowing, but there was no cold air coming out of my AC unit. The company American Home Shield sent out was able to fix the issue temporarily. A day or two later, the guy had to bring a part back and replaced that part. About two weeks later, another part went out on the unit outside and he came and fixed that part. He was here five minutes. The service was really good. He was really friendly and professional.
Filing a claim with American Home Shield is pretty simple. You just call them, explain to them what your issue is and they'll send someone out at their earliest availability. The only thing is -- and I don't know if it's due to COVID and more people being at home -- it was a long wait time for the provider to come provide me with service. There was probably a five-day wait. But when I first got American Home Shield in the beginning and our furnace went out, the contractor came out the next day.

I got on the computer and filed a claim to American Home Shield. The contractors came out and they diagnosed the air conditioner. They said the coil was leaking inside and they took care of it. They fixed everything and everything's working great. However, I would like to have a place where I could select the preferred person when I submit a claim with AHS. I didn't see that on there. When I went to do my washing machine that I just filed a claim on for the same house, it didn't give me a place there that I could select a preferred person. I wanted to select Sears ‘cause they've come out at one of my other houses a couple of times and I had been really pleased with them and they’re a preferred vendor too. They assigned me this GE. I couldn't locate a phone number. It was very hard to get ahold of them on the phone, which was nearly impossible even when I did get a phone number and called them. We had to go through all this stuff.
Then they pushed me to make an appointment. That was on a Monday, and it was supposed to be for Friday. Then they called Friday morning and canceled the appointment because they had an emergency. I called back to American Home Shield and they scheduled somebody else, and they got them out here today. The contractors called and told me they’ll be here any minute. I have AHS with a couple of houses and I hope to get them on more houses.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We filed a service repair 8/15/20. We got an immediate response stating that the contractor had been assigned. It was for our a/c. It went out on Saturday and the temp was 109. We called AHS that same day to advise them we are 2 senior citizens and the temp inside the house was now up to 90. The rep said he would assign us the highest priority service call and that we could call the contractor assigned to get an update on arrival. We called the contractor 4 times, each time just getting voicemail, so we left messages. Since it was the weekend we decided to call again on Monday. We called 3 times on Monday and each time just got voicemail. We call AHS to get an update on what was going on. We had to go to a hotel for Saturday and Sunday nights because we could not stay in the house due to the extreme heat.
On Monday afternoon, after not hearing from the contractor or getting callbacks from AHS, we started searching for a contractor on our own. We found one locally who said he would be there at 8 am Tuesday morning. He arrived right on time and within 30 minutes had the a/c up and running. It cost us $240 for this repair, but it was well worth it. We called AHS again to tell them to cancel the request and refund the $100 service fee. The rep we spoke to said he would look into it and let us know if he could cancel and refund. Guess what - still have not gotten a callback. We realize with this extreme heat all contractors are probably very busy, but they should be able to at least return a phone call. We are disappointed in AHS. They did not follow thru on any of our requests and basically left us hanging for 4 days with no A/C and the temp each day was over 100.
Are you still in need of assistance?

I would not recommend this company on the basis of poor customer service. There is no way to email them. When I call, the wait is over an hour. Several years ago a service call was canceled and I was assured that I would get credit. It never came so I ended up letting it go after several attempts and assurances from the company. (Yes, at that time I was actually able to speak to a representative!) Now it's happened again. The service tech determined that he was not able to fix our problem so he canceled the request. That was a week ago. Still no credit for that one and no way to get a hold of their "associates"/representatives. I've always been satisfied with the service techs and the ease or promptness of securing an appointment, but when I have a problem with AHS, there's no recourse so I feel I have no choice, but to write a bad review for them!
We do apologize for the late response. We do not wish to cause an un-easy experience when having an AHS warranty. We would love to speak to you more to come to a resolution and discuss this in depth. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I have had American Home Shield for many years. Up until recently, the service was pretty good. However, during the coronavirus, customer service has deteriorated greatly and it has become almost impossible to reach a representative on the phone or to get a problem escalated or resolved. I have been waiting since June 21, 2020 to have my microwave repaired. It is now August 18, 2020 and I have no update from AHS. The contractor does not respond and many calls and re-submissions of my claim to AHS has yielded no result.
I have spent many hours waiting on hold trying to reach AHS. When I do get through, they say they will escalate the issue but no response has resulted. Almost 2 months now and no update or even a status from AHS. Every time I call customer service the wait time is well over an hour. They recently have taken away the option for them to return a call to keep you from waiting on the phone. In short, no response, no update and no return calls.
While this may have started as an issue between AHS and one of their contractors, it has become an issue where a customer receives no service and no communication from AHS. Most people are not willing to wait for two months to get an appliance fixed. I cannot even claim that, as I don't even have a status or an update or even know if AHS knows they haven't responded. I believe that I may be better off cancelling AHS and saving my hard earned money to purchase a new appliance when it fails or simply call a repair company myself when needed.
We do apologize for the delay in regards of this appliance. It is not our intent to cause such a difficult experience. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

We have had American Home Shield since 2000. At first something would fail, pay the deductible and within 1 ~ 2 days it would be repaired or replaced. In the last 2 years, it's different. Call 'em up, pay the deductible, and maybe within 2 ~ 5 days it might get fixed. My current "open order" is for AC work. Started on 8/15 when I paid deductible. Supposed to get fixed 8/17. No one showed up. Grab the phone and give AHS a call. 10:35 AM ~ 12:28, then got hung up on. Again, called at 1:05 PM and I'm still on hold at 1:45 PM. They will take your money in a heartbeat. Good luck getting them to service your equipment in a timely manner.

We took out a home warranty policy a few years ago and haven't had the need to use it until yesterday when our AC unit stopped working during a 115 degree heatwave in Phoenix. I filed a request and was informed that it would take 24 hours for a service call. When I tried to reach them to see if there was an emergency AC repair service that could come out I was placed on hold for an hour. When the agent finally came on, the connection was so poor and the agent spoke such broken English that I could not understand her. I asked her to call back which she never did. I put in another call and the same story over again. Finally I called a random company that I will end up paying for out of pocket. A home warranty company needs to be more accessible and be able to give options of companies to service a complaint, especially when the house is already 95 degrees and will increase as there are extreme heat advisories for our area.

We've had this an American Home Shield home warranty since we bought our townhouse in October 2019. The good news is the seller included this in our purchase, the not so good news is I'm glad I didn't pay for it and will definitely not renew. The upside is if you have something break unexpectedly and you get lucky and they approve your repair, you'll come out ahead and save money.
The downsides are they decline covering many more repairs then they approve, the contract is very confusing with lots of wiggle room to get them out of covering something, you pay $75 for them to come confirm a problem which they'll likely not cover (this just happened to us this week on a duct motor which I knew needed replacing), you wait a long time to get someone on the phone (20 minutes+ average) who can do little more than read what's covered in your contract, there's no possible way to email customer support (except for 'security' or 'privacy' issues, I looked long and hard, it's just not there), and for all this you pay $700+/year plus $75 per service call. If you're home and its systems and appliances are in pretty good shape, just find yourself good repair folks when you need them, you'll come out WAY ahead.

Initially, I had experienced a complete loss of air conditioning. Shamanski came out very promptly and they gave me a charge of Freon. That seemed to hold me for a little while. Then about two weeks after their visit, I had the same situation occur. It wasn't Shamanski's nor American Home Shield's fault. There was a leak in the system that they did not know existed until the second time the situation presented. Shamanski came back, evaluated what the situation was, told me that I needed a part, and was very candid with me that because of COVID19, manufacturers of those parts were seriously backordered. They said that they would have Shamanski call me and talk about it, see what the possibilities were. They came back and said that indeed, those parts are backordered and they don't know when they would get them. It could be anywhere from two to three weeks before the part even comes in then they'd schedule.
I got back to American Home Shield and told them that was not acceptable. We are in the middle of a pandemic and heatwave. My husband and I are both seniors and that extenuating heat situation is not one that we'd be able to tolerate well. They gave me the option to go outside of contract and do a cash-in-lieu of the repair, which I opted to do. I then went back to Shamanski and asked them to purchase a new AC system, condenser and the inside air handling system, which they did. They came back and installed that system within a week of my ordering it, which was amazing. Then I received a check from American Home Shield for the cash-in-lieu as we had discussed.
However, I am very unhappy with the level of customer service that I received from American Home Shield. I understand that they can't be everywhere at all times and so they parse out customer service to international locations. I found it very difficult to communicate with several of those representatives. Their contextual language was poor. They got the general gist of what they needed to say, but they didn't understand the logic that I was putting forward.
I work with international educators and leaders all around the globe and I've never in my life had a difficult time communicating with anyone from those regions or any other. This was different. The American Home Shield customer service people I dealt with were very difficult to understand. I consistently needed to escalate the issue to a manager and sometimes even then, it didn't help so that was problematic for me. As a result, I'm likely canceling that contract. I'm no longer going to use American Home Shield.
Like very many other insurance companies, they're very happy to take your money and they're very reluctant to give you the service that you need when the time comes. You put in a claim and you cross your fingers, eyes, and toes that they're gonna honor it. I had another home warranty company when I first moved into this house in 2018 and they were no better. When I bought my house, I googled what are the best warranties and American Home Shield came up at the top, so I went with them. Recently, I submitted a claim and the contractors called me back quickly but they said it was gonna be a couple of days before they could come out. When the contractors came out for my recent claim, they were really great. They got there early, were on time, fixed the issue, told me what was going on, got on out, so it was really good. They also came with a mask. I didn't have to remind them. The fuse of our AC was blown and they fixed it. It's been working ever since.

I have two policies with American Home Shield and they've been good to us. We got them when we bought this house two years ago in South Carolina and I've had their contractors out a few times. When the heater was bad, they fixed it. I also got a new dishwasher that went bad and I had no problems with them. Recently, May Heating and Air came and they were great. It was just a little component and the guy already had it with him. He went upstairs and changed it, and it fired right back up. He was in and out in like 10 minutes. They were pretty busy though. It took them like a week to schedule me. American Home Shield themselves said that was not acceptable and they tried to find something else. But it was fine. It was our upstairs unit and it wasn't crucial.

I called American Home Shield and told them about my appliance issue. They said they set me up for an appointment and they called Schubert's Appliance Repair. They also let me know when Schubert's was coming. They gave me their phone number if I needed to call them. They took my deductible over the phone with my credit card upfront. It went pretty smoothly. They did pretty good.
Our range top was acting stupid. It would cook and we could turn the burner off. The burner would get cool but the little red light showed that the unit was still on. We were a little iffy that it might be dangerous. My husband threw the circuit breaker and turned it off until Schubert's came. They were good and they were friendly. They fixed something in the stove and it's been working fine ever since. They got the job done. They weren't slow and did their time instead. They worked on our refrigerator a while back and they did a great job too. We recommended American Home Shield to our son and daughter-in-law. They were buying a new home and they wanted to get some of that. We've recommended them to a couple of friends and our family too.

I really liked the contractors that came for my AC unit. They were very nice and very informative. When I asked questions about what was happening, he took time to explain things to me. Then when my brother called, he took the time to take the telephone call from my brother and explain to him what was happening. He also had on a mask and coming in, he put on things over his feet. He finally got down to what the problem was. Apparently, there were two issues and one occurred, he said, when they replaced the Freon in the condenser so he fixed it and everything is working really good right now.
However, I don't know if I will continue with American Home Shield when the contract ends. I explained to them when I called in, here in Nevada, we were having 110-degree weather and my mother has terminal cancer and I wasn't with air. But it still took over a week. I asked if they could expedite the part because they had to order the part, and I was told they don't expedite parts and it was gonna take a week to get it. So we were a week without air at 100 and some odd degrees when my mother is at her worst. Although in the past when I had to call AHS for an air conditioning problem, they took care of it right away. We had someone out here by the next day. Now this time, I'm not sure what the issue was and why it would take so long to get a part, and when I would ask to speak with a supervisor, no one would give me to a supervisor.

This is the second time that Air Connection Mechanical came out and they did a better job than the first time. The first time, I had no AC. It was not cooling. The first guy came out and he was a very nice guy. He said that it just needed a booster. He put a booster on it and that was it. A week later, the air was not working. It would work every once in a while, then it wouldn't work. Finally, it broke again and I had to call American Home Shield to send them back out again and pay again for it.
This time, they said what they needed to do and I had to pay $150 to $200 more in addition to the $100 that American Home Shield charged us for the other items that they said American Home Shield didn't cover. I don't know if it's true or not but I'm really disappointed. I thought the warranty covered a lot of things. A friend of mine recommended American Home Shield that's why I went ahead and did it but I don't think I'm ever gonna sign up again because I'm really not happy with it. When submitting a claim, you can never talk to somebody. It has to be automatic only by the machine.

Every time I've used B & L Plumbing, they've been amazing. Recently, the tech came in, went downstairs, and was very respectful. And then, he saw where the water heater has been leaking, into the drain near it, and said it needed to be replaced. He then said that he would get the order put in and make sure that everything was good. He had it scheduled for Wednesday to be put in and that was pretty much it. They can't replace it until Wednesday. They had to get in a water heater for it. We're on limited water. It's leaking, but it's still holding a bit of water, enough to take a shower.
I had another claim with the AC Doc to look at the AC. They came out, found a few things wrong and they thought they fixed it. But I paid a company myself to come out and look at it and they figured out that the bearings in the AC compressor were going out. They also found mold and dust inside my actual blower units, so they will change it out. I liked AC Doc. They tell you exactly how it is. They don't try to play around and mess with people just to make a sale.

Every time I've had any type of home warranty service, it has been through American Home Shield. For my North Carolina house, I've had them for well over 10 years. For my current residence, I've had them for less than a year and for another residence in between, we've had them for about seven years. I've never had any complaints or issues with American Home Shield. I had to use them for my primary residence as well, for HVAC, and it took a couple of tries for their contractor to come out. But every time, whether I was working with AHS or the company that they sent out for this particular residence, everything was fine.
Modern Mechanical did an excellent job. Because I've had problems with the AC unit before, I would always specifically ask for them because they do a great job. There was another company before 2019 where initially, because of the area, it defaulted to another company. Whoever it was who came, the technician from this other company showed my mother pictures of somebody else's unit and said that she needed a new unit. When I got that description from my mother, I went under the house, checked, and it was nothing like what she described. I called American Home Shield and asked for somebody else to come out. They sent out Modern Mechanical and they did a great job.

The main breaker box in the house kept going off by themselves. That would put some parts of the house out of electricity. So I would have to go outside to the garage and turn it back on. I contacted American Home Shield about that and their agent was very good. The agent said that Kintz Electric was going to contact me within the next 24 hours in which they did. American Home Shield sent a text message with the information of the company and then the personnel from that company texted me too. I scheduled an appointment with them, which was four days later.
The techs who came around were really knowledgeable. Apparently, I wasn't the first customer that had those problems with that particular brand of breaker box that the builders used. So they quickly identified it and then came up with a solution but they couldn't just do it themselves. They would have to figure out if American Home Shield would pay for it to get it fixed or if it should be the builders. So I'm still in between waiting right now to see exactly who's going to do what. I'm a new homeowner and I've had some other people that I’ve talked to and they said that American Home Shield is a great thing to have. We had a great experience with AHS and we really liked it.

We’ll let you know.” Then they came back and said, “Okay, it’s repairable.” So, when AHS asked, we ordered one online, which was great and it was delivered perfectly on time. Two guys showed up and installed it. Everything worked out perfectly. I was really happy about it.
The bad thing was, after I got AHS, I had a plumbing problem down in the basement. It clogged up my plumbing and I lost my furnace. Southern Comfort had to come out three times before they got the AC fixed. It was obstructing the water back outside, so it kept cutting off. The overflow thing kept getting filled, so it would cut the air conditioner off. When the guy came out the first time, he said it was the Nest thermostat and it wasn't. When he came out the second time he said the overflow valve is setting the AC off. But then they had to wait to get approval for the parts from American Home Shield so it ended up being another week and a half. Then my girlfriend ended up calling Southern Comfort. They came and fixed it. We were without AC for almost a month. They did not wear masks and I told them for about four times to wear it.
I've only used American Home Shield for the AC. It's very important for anybody that owns a home to have a home warranty company because it cuts down on how much you'd have to spend to get things fixed. It's definitely beneficial. I don't think any of this is American Home Shield's fault. I think it's the person that they issue out to do their work for them. Submitting claims was pretty easy. He was very strict about keeping a mask to the face and then, he asked me also to wear the mask. He did everything good and we’re happy. American Home Shield should send this guy as their immediate technician. This service was fast and decent enough but the previous experience was horrible, which was the reason I disconnected that appliance insurance from my other house. They had an extremely poor service and they were irresponsible even in responding. So, when I got an appliance issue, I was scared that AHS may take another four months to fix the range because last time, they took almost four months. I had to go to Facebook and write a strong feedback. Then through Facebook, AHS contacted me and they took one more month to fix the issue.
For four months, my tenants were using the bathroom without an exhaust fan. They got a lot of mold because of the moisture so, I got scared. The moment I got home, no range was repaired. I was thinking whether AHS was going to take four months to fix my range or I should go and buy a new range instead of calling them directly. I was in a bad situation. Fortunately, they responded quickly and fast enough, which was a big surprise for me. I've had them off and on and this is my first year for a while. I had a policy on this house when I first got in six years ago, and whenever I've had to use it, there's never been a problem. I'm glad if they could just fix it, but most of the time, they've replaced stuff. There was a time when Arno came out and they were great. The service was quick. The problem was there's no way to get through to American Home Shield. I couldn't get through either to arrange to see what the result was, and I would have to wait on the phone for two hours. That went on for about a week and I just started back to work. When I finally got the idea that I was gonna get a new appliance, I waited for three and a half hours after waiting for a couple of hours.
To wait that long on the phone, I usually hang up after two hours 'cause I'm too angry. I can't even get online and do a chat like everybody else in the world does. There's no option. They said, "Do it on Facebook," so I did it on Facebook. It took seven days and it was like, "We wanna hear more about this," so I told them. What they then told me is too bad, so bad and that it's just how it is. It wasn't that rude, but there was nothing and I will never do anything with them again. I'm gonna cancel my contract as soon as I can stand to wait for two more hours, which is so sad because I have bought houses and had that warranty. I've sold houses and given that warranty as well, and in the past, I really liked their service.

We didn’t want any strangers to come inside the house, so we did it ourselves. Also, our heater had gone bad. The contractor, who was assigned to us, said he was doing some remodeling, but we didn't see any kind of modeling or structure. But because of that, they charged us $400. I had Home Shield in 2005 and left them and went to another place. Then, I came back to them because the service was not the same with the new place I tried. The claim submission is pretty easy. I go online and put my information in there. I had a plumbing issue and I put it in the system. I paid my money online and they sent someone out. Water Control Plumbing called me within 30 minutes. It was done pretty fast. The contractor called first and told me what time they would be here. They arrived 30 minutes early and it was a smooth process. But I'd like to be able to talk to someone at Home Shield instead of having to go through the app online and be able to say what's going on with my stuff. Also, I don't like that I have to pay a fee first before they dispatch somebody. I think that was not the case when we had it before. Other than that, I haven't really had any problems.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I had somebody out to repair for the dishwasher. He ran everything and he said that everything was working properly. He was pushing buttons and he said that he got everything working right. So he didn't see any other issues. I check the dishwasher every now and then to make sure and it's been working. I'm a maintenance engineer. So I fix just about everything under the sun myself, but there's a few things that I don't like to touch so AHS gives me a peace of mind.

American Home Shield's website works. I did a claim online on our air conditioner issue, and between 15 and 30 minutes, I started getting texts and emails saying somebody had been assigned and that company that was assigned the work order would contact me, and Air Dynasty A/C & Heating did. They came out twice. The first time, their guy put a capacitor in and the AC started running again. Now, I wasn't so happy five days later when it quit cooling again. What was happening was the compressor kept shutting down. It was overheating.
On the second visit, he came out and said that the compressor was bad and I'm gonna need a new one. So at that point, I said, “Well, I don't know. I gotta think about it.” He then said, “I can send my manager out and he can tell you exactly what Home Shield’s gonna cover and what they're not.” So he came out, and we talked and all was said and done. I paid $8,000 for a complete new unit. I have no idea what American Home Shield paid out of that because all the guy ever said was, “This is it minus what American Home Shield’s gonna pay.” And I wanted AC. It’s hot here in Texas.
I've had AHS for 10 plus years. In fact, I just paid my premium and it was $712. I'm retired, so I'm on a fixed income. That's a good chunk of change. My wife was saying, “Well, maybe we can find a company cheaper.” And I said, “I've had American Home Shield for a long time, and I've never been disappointed.” To me, that means a lot. The issue was the service company. If I had anything to do with American Home Shield, I probably wouldn't contract with them anymore. It’s water under the bridge to me but I wouldn't recommend them to anybody since that experience.

I like American Home Shield a lot. Their contractors all work very well. They're all nice and they get the job done right and quick. The most recent claim was to fix my stove and my dishwasher. The people American Home Shield recommended were very professional. They came out probably two days after and did them both at once.

Before I moved into the house, Advanced Comfort had come out. I called them first and they told me to call American Home Shield and come back to them. So, we were scheduled before I even talked to American Home Shield. Advanced Comfort seemed knowledgeable and they were quick. They had to come out a couple of times but that was not their fault. At the end of the day, it ended up being not an AC issue but a breaker issue. So, they were good. Also, when the technician came, he kept the distance and wore a mask. He acknowledged everything ahead of time.
I got more issues with AHS than I do with the contractors. I've continually had to stay on hold for very long periods of time. I wanted to get the house rekeyed and I still haven’t heard anything. I also put in a ticket for the dishwasher and it took five days before I got a call from the contractor. By then, I had fixed it myself. So, I have to get back on the phone with AHS tomorrow to get refunded for the money or the service payment that I paid them already. I've had them since I moved into the house last August 4 but I had them when we bought our house in 2016 and I've never been that thrilled with home warranty companies. In this case, they covered everything but the customer service wasn't great.

My home's getting older. Some of my friends have homes that are over 10 to 15 years old, and I noticed things started breaking, so I felt there would be an extra layer of protection if I have a warranty. I got American Home Shield. I had issues on my stove, my dryer would not dry and my microwave would not turn on at all. I went online and submitted a claim. Their website was really easy to navigate. It told me that I should call the contractor. Once I was able to make contact with JC Appliance Repairs, they came out the next day. The service was great.

A/C Pros seemed to be very honest and they were timely. They replaced some refrigerant unit. Apparently, it was freezing up. When he turned it on, I could actually see it freezing. So they were very, very helpful. They also had masks and footwear on. It was very good. I'm due to renew with American Home Shield but I was seriously thinking of not renewing because I had trouble in the winter when it was 40 degrees. One of the furnaces went out and I waited four weeks for a part in 60 degree weather. I called each week. So when I had trouble with this, I had a different company come out and tell me what they thought was wrong. I paid for a burnt out capacitor on my own because if I waited four weeks before, I was probably gonna have to wait three or four weeks and I have kids and dogs in my home. So I couldn't take that chance. Something needs to be changed in how they obtain their parts or how they get their authorization.
When the air conditioning went out, I thought that I better not wait for American Home Shield because I can't wait four weeks. It was 105 out here. I shouldn't have to feel that way about a warranty company. It was very, very questionable. When the people that came out here for the AC, he had the refrigerant, so there was no parts requested. I already had not trusted them. He replaced the capacitor for $400. But with the furnace, they had to order parts. American Home Shield needs to broaden the scope of vendors that they work with so that in the wintertime, we're not waiting four weeks for a furnace.

American Home Shield is missing some stuff to get covered. They don’t cover roofing and in some other places, they do basic roofing. Also, they get to do the claims right away, but the people that they get to come out take too long. It’s not American Home Shield that’s scheduling the appointments though. You have to contact the people to get them out and they don't have anything right away.
If I have a plumbing issue where the sewer in the back is overflowing or my sump pump is not working and everything is backing up, that's an emergency to me. Somebody needs to come out right away and they can't. American Home Shield had somebody come out when my garbage disposal wasn't working right. I contacted them to make an appointment and they came out within a couple of days. The guy said it was fixed and they didn’t have to leave and come back.

It's so hard to get in touch with American Home Shield. You got to hold for hours. I've been with them for almost 10 years and it’s always been that way. Also, they need to update their system. They should give the option if it's multiple things. When I filed the claim online, it didn’t give me the option to choose both AC units. I have two in the house and when the guy came out, I told him which one was making a loud noise. He said it was the other one. I said okay and that they're not getting cold. So, he looked at the one that was making that loud noise and said that the compressor went out. In the midst of all that, he never looked at the second one. So, when he came back with the compressor, we told him and he said that I would have to call and file another claim. I said that I shouldn't have to and that I told him when he got here.
The guy was nice and very professional. He knew his stuff because I've had some guys come out and they don't know jack. But I was a little irritated because when he came out, he was aware it was both units and he focused on the one. I had to call AHS back and I was furious because I didn't wanna have to keep paying $75. The air conditioner is not working. They addressed one but they didn't fix the other. The lady on the phone said that if I pay the $75, they would refund me the first one. I said okay. It didn't make sense but whatever they need to do to get their books right, I don't mind doing it. She said that they would refund me the money but I haven't gotten it yet. The technician came back out the very next day and the AC unit has been working great. If my air went out again, I would request him. Now, that it's all completed, I am very satisfied.

I had a very good response from American Home Shield in terms of fixing my bathroom faucet or the AC. Both, I'm happy with how they handled it. With the AC, it was not cooling and when the technician came in, he initially thought it was a capacitor issue. He fixed the capacitor and then it still was not working. He then figured out that it was the fan, which was rotating in the opposite direction. He said he had to fix the fan motor as well and he did. I'm so pleased with Home Shield. I bought a new home and it came with the home warranty. I have it for a year and I will definitely get it extended for the next year.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was fairly easy. I spoke to a young lady who put information in for me. I requested Home Shield to fix my microwave and my dishwasher. The first contractor who got called out for my appliances didn't look at the units themselves besides turning them on and off. The second contractor took things apart and looked at things before he went. He applied to AHS for the needed parts and repaired my units. My dishwasher still seems to be running on and on even though the tech already replaced a part. Other than that, everything seems to be okay.

I've been happy with the people that Home Shield has sent out and they've done a good job replacing things. Also, the people that answers the phone have been very accommodating. The biggest problem I've had is getting through to them. If I have a repair, I can do that online and they respond right away. But if I have to talk to representatives, the wait time is at least two to three hours.
I had a dryer claim that the contractor couldn't fix so I had to call in to get it replaced. But because of the COVID, they don't have enough help. The first time, I was on the phone for over five hours waiting for them to answer. Once they finally answered, they couldn't get the dryer they showed that I wanted. I had to wait a week and when I called back, I was on the phone twice that day for five hours. I got disconnected with the first person that answered and they tried to call me back, but I don't know if something went wrong. Then, I had to be on the phone for another five hours but the order for the next dryer I wanted finally got placed and we got it within a week.
The frustration I had was getting somebody to answer and it's not just me. The person that was trying to replace it had to wait forever to get an approval. But it was fine with the contractor. The installation was done within 10 minutes. They hooked it up, plugged it in, made sure it's working and they left. It's been about two weeks now and so far, the unit has been great.

If I have a problem that I feel is legitimate, then I put in a claim to American Home Shield. Somebody contacts me and I set up a thing. Then a person comes and checks it out. They say, “I've got to put it to American Home Shield.” Then there's a delay, and then they come and do the work. Sometimes, it solves the problem, and other times, it doesn't.
In a case where a problem wasn't solved, I called American Home Shield and I complained bitterly. The equipment was not restored to the same condition, and we had a big fight about it. I had an air conditioning problem, and they came, and they did what they decided they were gonna do. I have the air conditioning on or the heat on, or I could run the fan. That would be three settings. And after the work was done, I only had heat or air conditioning, but I couldn't run the fan. My position was that's not the condition in which it was in under and it should be put back in the condition it was in. American Home Shield’s position was that to put it back in the original condition would require running a wire and it would cost me $800 to run the wire. They don't run wire because that would be improving the existing equipment. My position was two settings are not three settings, so I think I had a pretty good position.
The AC guy said he'd run the wire for about $800. So, I called my brother-in-law, and he ran the wire in 15 minutes. I wasn't too impressed with that claim but on other things, American Home Shield has been really great on. The plumber from Plumbing Expresso was awesome. He wore a mask. He wore shoes. He cleaned up after himself.
With regard to many of the things in the house, American Home Shield has done fine, business-wise, but I had certainly benefited to their detriment in all of the air conditioning stuff that I've had repaired. The guys who have done that have always been really great companies. American Home Shield is a legitimate company, and I've benefited from it. One criticism I had is when I get a workman that I'm particularly pleased with and I need more work done which is under warranty, I can't choose the company.
There’s no facility on the website. So, if you get some electrician or someone that's doing some work which is under warranty and you really liked their work, and you get another problem which is covered under warranty, there's no mechanism to say, “I want that guy again.” I understand why I can't do it, but I wish I could sometimes. I had an AC guy that came. That company got the contract several times, and so they kept sending the same guy. I had the same guy for about three calls. He did super work and he was super nice, and I was really happy that I got him as many times as I did.

I was a customer for one year and when my contract renewed, I was charged a higher premium without notice. I called one week after the contract renewed and asked to cancel because I did not want to pay 50% more for the same warranty and it was not in my budget. I made it clear that it was not in my budget. I was told I could drop the appliance portion of the warranty and only keep the major systems for the same price as I was paying the previous year. Ok.
I don't get a bill the next month and figured it was cancelled. No bill (and no claims for the past 3 months). I call several times and a supervisor agrees to call me back because he says his notes say I'm still with the higher premium even though I don't have the appliance warranty and I am not being charged. He can't figure it out. Says he'll call back Monday, nothing. I call back three times and the hold is time is over an hour. I am hung up on after being transferred once and the time I finally do get through I decide I just want confirmation that it has been cancelled.
After an hour and half, I am told by a second representative that she has cancelled my account and I owe over a hundred dollars 'administrative fee'. I dispute it and she states that her notes state I called to cancel but the rep waived my fee for a couple of months and I will be charged for those months. I told her I did not even receive confirmation that I was renewing, paying a new rate, or owed anything AND had not made a claim because I thought it was cancelled. She said I had to pay cause she had already cancelled the contract. Wow. It is fraudulent to keep customers in the dark, not provide them with notice or billing statements and then charge their bank accounts. I am extremely dissatisfied.

July 9th, 2020, I placed a repair for my refrigerator. 3 appointments later it still has not been fixed, I have been disconnected, hung up on, placed on call back - call backed and then hung up on numbers of times by AHS when calling in. The choice of refrigerator repair companies that they are choosing to represent them is less than undesirable and actually embarrassing.
It is August 17th and still am not able to purchase food to put in the refrigerator nor keep my medication refrigerated. The house was 105 degrees. We called American Home Shield to file a claim on the air conditioner. The contractors came out right away. They actually came out right away four times. The first time they did, they thought the compressor was out and then they said, “Okay, the compressor is out.” But American Home Shield would not let them order a compressor until an electrician came out. It took a month for an electrician to come out. He said everything was fine. Now, another electrician had to come out. He said, “Oh, yeah, I did try it. Nope. it's out. We’ve got to order a compressor.”
That was two weeks of 105-degree temperature. They ordered a compressor. It'll be in in three days. Four days later, they said the compressor’s in and they came out, put the compressor in but it did not work. So, they ordered another one. Once it came in, the Comfort people came out right away. They put it in and it did not work. They went to a different company to order another compressor, at which point I got involved and I said, “You know what, you need to test this stuff before you come out. It shouldn't take a week in between each time that you guys do it.” I also said “It's hot. I’m old.” They assured me that they would check it. With the third compressor, they came in, they put it in and it worked. But apparently, they didn't put the fan back in right because two days later, the whole unit outside was shaking.
We called Home Shield back and they sent the same people back out. They took the fan out, replaced it and that was working good. The first two weeks were pretty bad. We are dissatisfied with American Home Shield because that’s our second experience with them and the experience before that took three months and it was for our sewer line. We had to go to our daughter's which is five miles away just to use the bathroom because my whole system was shut down. We don't think American Home Shield uses the best people other than Comfort. They're very good. There were two different plumbers that American Home Shield has used over the four years we've been with them, and neither one of those were very good.
I would like American Home Shield to first respond a little faster because once we call them, it takes a week for somebody to come out. Once we call them, then they contact somebody to come out. But those people don't come out for a week. Then we have to fight because they can't just check something. They gotta check it six times. We don't think our money for Home Shield is very well spent.
Oh No! We do apologize for this experience. It was not our intent to cause such a delay in your AHS adventure. We would love to speak with you in terms of a resolution to make sure what problems you have faced are resolved. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

When the contractor comes out, they won't provide the service because what I may be asking for is not what American Home Shield has sent the guy out for. There should be an option for details on specific issues there. Other than that, Cabot Mechanical did a good job when there was a necessary repair for a heating issue that we had.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I had Home Shield take care of the refrigerator and they took care of it the same day. The guy called and I told him what was going on, so he was already came prepared with the materials that he needed to fix it. When the pump in the washing machine was leaking, United Services of Arizona came out and they did so well. They happened to have the part so I didn't have to wait. The gentleman knew exactly how to find everything as well. He diagnosed the problem and took care of it. He was already masked and gloved too.
All in all, Home Shield has done an amazing job. I get online, do the details of what's going on and they answer me right away and put me in contact with the repair person. The repair person then calls me and lets me know they're around the corner. Home Shield's employees are an asset to the company ‘cause that's what makes their reputation for all of us here. In the manner that they come in, they're knowledgeable, professional, and they communicate quite well with us. I also had a home repair contract with Sears. When comparing the two, I tell everybody to check out Home Shield and I got two people to join them.

It's been a little over a year since we've had American Home Shield now, but we also kept them when we moved to a different property address. Some of the representatives are extremely helpful and some are not so much. Also, the biggest thing is understanding the contract. There was one out of pocket payment that we had to do and in our contract, there's no removal of the water heater. While everything was covered, we had to pay to have the old water heater removed. Our water heater was leaking. It was damaged, so Simply Plumbing had to replace it. We're very pleased with them overall. They were out within 24 hours and they did a very good job. They also worked overtime in order to make sure they were approved by the insurance.
One of the issues we had was when there was a reoccurring problem with the water heater, we had to call in the claim versus submit it online. Otherwise, it charges another $100 deductible. If we can submit it online, everything is fine, but if you have to call it in for any reason, you're waiting more than an hour easily. For the last few things that I've had to call in, I have been on hold for longer than an hour. Simply Plumbing had to wait to get approval before they can do anything and the hold time was in excess of an hour as well.

RG plumbing was great. They called back immediately and scheduled an appointment. They were on time and fixed the problem. There was something in the disposal that they had to clear out and everything went perfectly. Also, they had masks on. The experience with American Home Shield has been inconsistent. It's been a while but we had a situation that took forever to get finally taken care of. This one happened to be great. We had a problem when we submitted the claim though. Their system was down and so we couldn't get into their system online but it eventually came back up and we were able to do it. Calling in was a six-hour wait so that wasn't gonna work.

7 Cities was really professional. They came in, assumed what the issue was when they first came to my house and then what the tech assumed that the issue was is exactly what it was. He didn't have to do any maintenance, but he went ahead and checked my crawlspace. He checked everything to make sure that everything was good to go as far as my air conditioner, and he did a good job. It was very pleasant. Also, this is the first time that I've ever had to call American Home Shield for something, and I had no issue scheduling. I paid my little $100 and then they took care of the rest.

A-1 Plumbing came out to fix our Whirlpool tub and they wore masks the whole time and emailed our paperwork to us. They fixed the leak, but now the tub won't drain very well. Also, the tension in the hot water knob is really tight and I'm afraid to use it because I feel like it might break. I called them and they said I needed to go and file another claim. I've tried to wait on hold a couple of times, but AHS has been so busy. By the time I get a call back, I'd gotten back to school and by the time they call me back, I'm busy again and can't answer. The first company that AHS sent was terrible. It was a nightmare. I had an appointment on a Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00. I was waiting at my rental property 'cause the tenant was at work. The guy did not show up till after 5:00 and he did not call me. I waited over there all day. This guy from AAA told me that there was nothing wrong with it. I told him there is, as it's almost 90 degrees in there. He told me to clean the air handler. He also told me what kind of cleaner to get. I went and got that, did that, and it still didn't work. He came back out a couple of days later and said he couldn't fix something that was not broken. He also said that this was being reported at American Home Shield that there was nothing wrong with the unit.
I called American Home Shield and requested a second opinion with A-US Air. The guy was on time and changed out a capacitor. Probably, it was a $10 part to sort that out. He stayed in touch with me. He was headed to another job and then he was headed to me. He showed up when he was supposed to, fixed the issue, and was very professional. That particular guy has been to my personal house before when he worked for another company. The unit is working great now.

I bought this house and there were things that went out like my water heater. I've been here for over three years and finally, I saw American Home Shield on TV one day. I asked some relatives as to how are they, and they said they're okay. I looked into their web and went for their main package that includes everything in the house that home insurance didn't include. I pay them 50, 60 bucks, but it's well worth it. Last month, Turner Electrical and Lighting came out. The guy was polite. He did a thorough outlet to outlet to outlet and found the problem. He knew what he was doing as far as being efficient. He was great. I'm waiting for another HVAC company to call 'cause my HVAC went out the other day and it's hot in Sacramento.

The doubt is if it's gonna be a hassle to get them to do any of the work or replace anything. On this experience, that wasn't the case. It was super easy. As far as American Home Shield, I'm pretty good with it. I kind of got surprised when I realized that I didn't know that my refrigerator was covered, but other than that, it's perfectly fine. We got this home through Military War Support Foundation, and they purchased a whole year in advance services from American Home Shield. So we're like, “Yeah, yeah, we’ll just keep it.”

The contractor came and fixed my air conditioner. They were in and out within 20 minutes. They seemed like they got the job done. They gave me some advice as to how to maintain my air conditioner. Initially, when I was submitting the claim, I was very frustrated. With everything that's going on, phone lines are tied up, but I like to be specific about what it is I need. Sometimes going online and checking a box does not describe what it is that's wrong. I waited on the phone for almost an hour, if not more, for a live representative. When I got a live representative, I got somebody who was not in America and didn't understand what I was saying. I asked to speak to someone else and was placed on hold. It was disconnected. Then I spoke with someone else who, again, was not in the States who didn't understand what I was saying. I let her process the claim anyway only to go online to find out that they had listed it as something was wrong with my pipes as if this was plumbing.
I called the company to see if there was somebody who dealt with air conditioners. They said no, they were a plumbing company. I went online and canceled the claim, and I had to call back again. That part is frustrating, getting the proper people to come and having to spend three hours just making sure the right people are coming to my house because I gotta pay the $75. It’s is bothersome. I don't want to speak to somebody who doesn't understand what I'm talking about. I don't wanna speak to somebody in another country because their lingo is different from my lingo based on this claim.
That in itself is frustrating, being on the phone for over an hour, having to call back, having to cancel the claim, having to restart the claim. Do I wanna spend an hour on home again? No. Do I want to speak to somebody in another country? No. But am I paying for the the warranty service? Yes. Will I have to pay for the claim? Yes. So I am dishing money out, but I don't feel confident enough based on that in itself. For certain things, yes, you can check a box and then be so generic and specific, but outside of that, what am I supposed to say to somebody who doesn't understand me? We all have to make adjustments and changes for COVID-19 but at the same time, it's not like American Home Shield is decreasing what I have to pay them as far as making sure my house is being serviced. I don't feel like the customer service should be decreased.
Up until COVID, I never really called American Home Shield for anything because my house is fairly new. But since COVID and the kids being home and more usage being used on certain items, of course, after a while a wear and tear happens and something might get broken. The few times that I've had to call in for service, people don't get back to you. They say somebody will reach out to you in 24 hours. For instance, with the last repair for the AC, I called the company that was assigned to do the work and they said, “Oh, we're processing the claims. We'll call you by the end of today.” No one ever called but then somebody showed up at my door three, four days later.
Had no one been home, what would it have looked like? It's only because of COVID that somebody was home. I felt a little disrespected too when the provider came out. He came with a mask, but he didn't have a mask on. There is a mandate in Harris County that you gotta wear a mask. When I'm going into a store to be serviced, I have to wear a mask. When you’re coming into my house to service me, you should be wearing a mask. I had to let the guy know and say, “Please put on a mask because I have children, I have a husband, I have certain health concerns." My son has certain health concerns but I still needed my items fixed. But he did the job and was respectful of my wishes.

I had two service calls in with American Home Shield. I have three air conditioning units at my home. The technician from Metro Air came out in a vehicle, came to the door with no mask on. I had to ask him, "Could you slide a mask on?" I went and put one on. He proceeded to go downstairs and looked at the two units, but he was insinuating that, "You called me out here for a problem you didn't have, because I only have one service call." I said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I called in two service calls."
He got on the phone, called his office and he said, "This guy is saying he's got two service calls." Then the guy said, "Okay. So you did have two service calls, but it wasn't put together on..." Whatever the problem was that he didn't get two service orders, I really didn't think it was my issue. It was an add-on. When you have one service call, but if you have two issues, you just tell them. If it's related to the same thing, they look at them both.
So he proceeded to look at one issue. There was water pouring out of my one unit. He came out and he said, "Water's flowing." Did nothing other than asked me if I had a roll of tape, taped up a piece of plastic pipe, and then he put a rag by where there could be possibly another leak. Then he went to the other unit that I supposedly didn't have a call on, but I did, and he attacked the unit almost as a consultant. He started telling me about there's not enough charge, there's not enough this and that, the copper tube needs this. So he went and wrote up some report. I thought it was gonna be covered, but it wasn't covered.
I tore into American Home Shield. I said, "Send another outfit out here. I've already contacted my lawyer about Metro Air and who is responsible for sending this person out to my home." Now, the whole thing, it got rejected. It was not covered because the condenser that leaked, because there wasn't another air duct put in in 1998, the condenser started leaking. There was a kink in my pipe and the guy said. "Where did that come from? How's this thing been running since 1998? Did you squeeze it with your channel locks?"
After all was said and done, I said, "Hey, go ahead and write it up. Whatever's gonna be, it's gonna be. Here, I wanna give you something. Thanks for your service." I lay a $20 bill on his seat. The guy said, "Did some money fly on my wall pocket or something?" I said, "No, dude. I wanna give you this 20 here for coming out." He said, "Hey man, I'm a man just like you. I put my pants on just like you. You can hand it to me." So I picked it up off the seat. I let him come around from the passenger seat. I handed him the $20 bill, he threw it on the ground. He didn't need my $20 bill. I just had to get him off my property. I asked for Piedmont the very first time because they were out twice prior to that for different issues and fixed them. AHS said, "No, we have a queue and whatever company pops up, that's who it is." I said, "Metro Air, okay, that's fine." Then, here we are.
I called American Home Shield and I was really livid with them. I told them never, in my life, have I ever been talked to like that, to repeatedly be called a liar. I'm a firm believer in having everything covered too. But then, with this air conditioning unit and finding out what it's gonna cost me, it's like, what exactly is covered? They said, "We'll have another vendor come out for a second opinion and if they find something wrong, you won't be charged a second time. If they do find the same thing wrong, then you'll be charged another service charge." I said, "Fine, send them out."
I arranged my flight in from Las Vegas to meet them there, like I'm doing again. I fly out on the 29th, and the next day, American Home Shield, Piedmont's coming out again. And the same problem, three flights in from Las Vegas for a condenser. It's twofold. One, it's the shock value of finding out I'm paying $75 a pound for Freon and I need nine pounds of it. So my bill is, after my $125, is another $400 for a condenser that's bad. So we're replacing a condenser on a 1998 unit, it makes no sense.

Bradley Electrical came in one day to fix the air conditioning. My wife was here and all they did was open the air conditioner, replace a part and they said that would work. I told my wife to tell them that they should go upstairs and check the blower and the rest of the unit because I thought the blower was bad. But they left and the air conditioning ran for about an hour and then it went down. So I called them again but there was no answer. Then I called the American Home Shield to reprogram the appointment. They assigned the same group again and the guy called me in the morning. I told him that they got over here yesterday and they tried to fix the air conditioning and they left but the air conditioner is not working. So he sent the people again over here the next day.
My wife was here and she told them that I thought the issue was the blower. So they went upstairs and it was very hot. They checked it out and they said it was not the blower. They said it was a little pin over here. My wife said that they changed something over there upstairs and they changed something in the front over here again, and the air conditioning has been working since then.
It's been very hard to get in touch with American Home Shield about a bill that they sent me for $100. But their contractors are very good and very nice people. They are very efficient and they're really committed to their job. I will recommend them. But they're running from one gap to another one sometimes. You'd have to wait a long time. They're so busy that they have to run from one end to the other. So sometimes they don't perceive things. They just change the part and say that the air conditioner is running and then leave. They didn't wait a few minutes. Also, somebody's gotta be home to tell them what to do.

I have a few policies with American Home Shield. I met one of their reps and I liked her. She sent me the policy. I use them for the personal relationship thing. Also, it's pretty easy to do a service request online and a repair person comes and does the work. I requested a rekey recently and that was fine. We’ve been happy so far.

I have three accounts with American Home Shield on three different homes and I’m satisfied so far. When there was a leakage from the AC unit in the condo, AHS said that I was gonna get a call from the contractor within 24 hours. We had someone from Home Guard come out the first time and allegedly corrected the issue. They were quick to come. But the next day, it started leaking again. I called Home Guard again and by the time they got back to me, it was a few days. They said they couldn't come out until I put another order with AHS. I hesitated because I didn't wanna be charged another $75 for the same problem. I called AHS because I wanted to get a live person on the phone. I put the request in as a job not completed request. Then AHS basically notified Home Guard. Then finally, Home Guard called me back. The service came out and took care of the situation. Hopefully, it stays taken care of.

Appliance Care replaced the air damper to the refrigerator but after 24 hours, it wouldn't work. They serviced it twice because when the air damper didn't work, they got a control board put in. But it was still not working right. I called them back and then they said that the damper had a defect. So they ordered another one. Pamela called me and said the guy would come in and put it today between 1:00 and 5:00. I like Appliance Care. They've been very nice and they’re trying to fix it.
American Home Shield didn't come through for me when my air conditioner broke down. I had to wait on the air conditioner coil and it was on backorder. It was very hot and humid. I had to be in heat for about four weeks. I was advised by the company that I could probably get a little help. So I called a couple of times about it. I had to wait for 30 and 50 minutes. I could deal with that, but I was not accommodated in any kinda way. I called the escalation team and asked them to give us a little money to help us to get a portable air conditioner and they refused. I've been with AHS for a long time and I'm very hurt about that. They did not want to reimburse me for the portable air. I suffered and I didn't think it was right.

I had no hot water and Home Shield made me wait a week to get somebody over here. I was upset that I had to wait a week to replace the water heater but they just sent somebody to look at it. Then I waited almost a week just to get a call back from them to tell me that there was gonna be a cost out of pocket for me, which I wasn't aware of. After that, I had to wait for the contractor. They had to put in a report to Home Shield first and Home Shield had to order the unit. They got it within a day or two and then I had to wait for their plumber to find time to come and do it.
I had been boiling water to wash myself and I had not showered in three weeks. Thank God this was not the dead of winter because that should not be allowed. If Home Shield is gonna send somebody out to assess the problem, the contractor should come out within 24 hours. I don't think anybody should have to wait. A week is a long time for something like that. It's not like a washing machine or a dishwasher, where you could wash your own dishes and you could go to a laundromat. Also, I was on the phone with them and I had to hold for 45 minutes to an hour just to speak to someone every single time I called.
But for our air conditioner claim, it was within a few days. Comfort Pros came out and fixed the problem. The tech replaced the motor outside and it's been working since. Also, the motor went on my pool and that was done within a week. But these are all things that you can live without. The hot water thing really upset me and I had to agree to pay $765 out of pocket. I'm grateful for the warranty. I don't have to pay for the whole thing out of my pocket but $765 is a lot of money.
We do apologize for the greater out of pocket cost. We would love to discuss a resolution pertaining to the air conditioner. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The motor in my pool seized up. NKY Electric and the tech was fantastic. He had to order the part because they're different sizes for different pools. I also took pictures of it and sent it to him. It took about a week for the part to come in and they replaced it. I also had another company come out for the air conditioner and they were absolutely fantastic as well. Getting service from American Home Shield is like going to a restaurant. It varies from day to day and it depends on who the waiter is. You can go into a super expensive restaurant, but if you get a bad waiter one day, it doesn't mean the steakhouse itself isn't good.
We've been with American Home Shield for eight years now and 99% of the time, they're fantastic. They don't approve everything. For example, with the air conditioner claim, they only paid 1,000 bucks out of the 6,000 that it cost. But they got us a new dishwasher a few months back. American Home Shield totally has their act together. They do great. Their call center is dynamite.

I'm glad to have American Home Shield. Recently, my air conditioner went out. I was about to go out of town on vacation, so I scheduled with them to have someone come back the first day that I was home, and they did that. The tech got it running but it broke again two days later. So, the same guy came back out and fixed it. He came out pretty quickly, so I wasn't without air very long and I didn't have to spend the night with anybody else. The tech was good, too, and so far, the AC is cooling really well. But every once in a while, it starts making this really loud, dripping noise, and it doesn't go on forever. So, I'm afraid I'm going to have to call the tech back, have him come back out and check on that. I'm not sure what's dripping, but I hate to incur another $75.

They went above and beyond the call of duty, which is good coming from my son. I would highly recommend them. Likewise, Home Shield has been very helpful. The young man from AirRite did something to the unit and it worked but it went out a few days later. The owner came out and checked it. I paid the first deductible and then, I paid for him to put the Freon in. That came out of my pocket because that was not covered under my warranty. I paid $150 and that was on top of the other so that was fine. It lasted just a few days though. I came home from work and it was warm in my house. I tried my fan to see which one was the coolest. Both of them were the same so, the unit was down again. I contacted American Home Shield again and the technician came back out. He said that there was a leak and that I needed a new unit. He said that my unit was older.
When I got the first call from AHS, I was told that I was gonna have to pay $1,900 because there were some items that were not covered. I said that I didn't have 1,900. The lady called today and said that AHS could do some kind of cashout, which I don’t fully understand because I was frustrated. I would have to pay and then, I would get $1,300 back. I told her that I didn't have that much money. I'll just go buy me some more fans and I'll deal with it. I'm on a fixed budget and the fee is not gonna be in my bank for almost three more weeks. I've got house and car payments coming so I'll just wait and see what happens in about three weeks. The technicians who came out were above board and honest with me because they came out quickly. I had no problem with them but the warranty part is where I feel like I was deceived. They’ve been great but not the warranty. It's sad. People don't have money like that and they’re thinking that something is going to help.
I thought that this warranty was gonna be a benefit because AHS came highly recommended by a friend of mine and I guess all her stuff has been covered completely. She said that I needed to get it just in case something breaks down. So, I said that I would give it a try. I’ve had this warranty for only about three months but if I have to, I'll just cancel it and do what I gotta do out of my own pocket. I would have to go out and physically look to see how much I could purchase a unit. I'm almost 60 and I feel it in my bones. Fall is around the corners so if I gotta go buy a window unit, I could probably get by. I'm not gonna be using it that much anyway.

We've been a long-time customer with American Home Shield. Sometimes, things just happen during weekends and it's difficult, especially when we have one with the air conditioning. With this kind of heat, it's very difficult to stay even an hour without air conditioning. Sometimes it happens on Saturday or Sunday, and Monday will be the appointment. So, it's gonna take at least three days. We have an autistic son. He cannot manage the situation without air conditioning. So, I wish Home Shield will consider some of the difficulty of some families and try to speed up the process as much as possible.
I had an issue with the water heater. It's an old one, but it's still functioning. So, one time, there was a problem in that, and we asked American Home Shield for service. They sent the request, and a gentleman came to the home to fix it. He said, "There is a safety issue with this one. I cant fix it," but he said it needs to be replaced in the future. When I communicated with American Home Shield, they said they can't replace it as long as it is working. But in general, I recommend American Home Shield as an insurance company. They are good.

The initial issue was the air conditioner was out. My mom's situation needed to be handled expeditiously because of her heart. My sister also has a breathing problem. She's heavyset and she can't breathe good at night. So when I said expedited, and Home Shield made it expedited, it should have been handled within a week to two weeks max. They should have been more, “Hey, these people are up in age. There's sick people in the home.” They should act quicker.
In getting somebody out there, there were three people I had to get through. The first company came out there two or three times and they said the unit was working. But then, they left and the house would get hot again. We call them back. “No, It was working when we left. We don't know what's wrong. You'll have to call somebody else."
I had to get another company involved. When he came out, he was worried about, “Oh, it's going to be more than just this to do this. It's gonna cost you about 1,500 to 2,000 to have this unit replaced.” He was worried about what he would make. He was an independent contractor. And then he told me, “Oh, I’m gonna need somebody to help me get a unit in there. I need like eight guys.” I was done with him. So, I called Home Shield back, then had to wait and get another company. That was just a bunch of ** all the way through.
It took me almost a month and a half to get an air conditioner put in there and I tried every day. I spent 20 hours on the phone with Home Shield. It was horrible! I know there was a payment due and I needed to call Home Shield and make a payment on that. I had taken my credit card off. I was pissed off. Home Shield would not call me back. I kept talking to people in Japan. I couldn't understand them. I put my claim in on the first of July. I had to go out and spend $700 on a portable air conditioner. But that still wasn't enough.
I did not get anybody on the ball until I got Element Heating and Air. The contractor came out and they fixed it. They got their hands on it. They went to bat for me. We just got the air in last week. I was happy with the air company. I give them a high five because they're great. But I was dissatisfied with Home Shield. They took way too long to handle this claim. It was a bunch of running around.

My wife's sister is a realtor up in Gainesville, Maryland and had used American Home Shield for a long time. She was very satisfied with them. We decided to go with them down here. It's relatively easy to file a claim online. We've had two air conditioning issues since we took up the service but with the exception of it taking several days, which isn't American Home Shield's problem, we've been completely satisfied. This last one, there were two of them that they ended up fixing - one was the capacitor on the outdoor unit and the other was the contactors. The contactor went bad or burned up. Those units are 11 years old, so I don't think it's unusual to have something go bad with it. We had no problems with the interior air handlers or anything. Since working with First Comfort, we've gone with them for maintenance. They do a check on the systems in the spring and then on the fall for heat.
We called American Home Shield on a garage door issue, but it turned out it was a mechanical issue. The spring broke on the door, not a garage door opener, and American Home Shield doesn't cover that and I understand that.

I called up American Home Shield on a Saturday and told them that we had an electrical outage and an issue. That call initially started off very poorly. They set me up with a company that wanted to come out on a Friday. They wanted me to wait a week for them to come out. I call back American Home Shield and told them I couldn't do that. I had grandkids that had come over and that wasn't gonna work for us.
Initially, they kind of hesitated. I asked them how I should file a claim so I could get reimbursement and I would call an electrician out to get the thing fixed. The lady said she would see what she could do. She hung up and she called me back about 15 minutes later. She told me that they had a company that was more local. That was City First. They came out a little bit earlier than they said they were going to. Their guy was really pleasant, very helpful, and he didn't complain. The house was sort of a mess and kids were running around. It was also warm because the air conditioner had turned off. But he did what he had to do with a smile on his face. He was very gracious and we were very thankful.
He also had his mask on. Initially, he asked if anybody had been sick in the home. I was also asked the same thing when they had called in. We told them everybody was fine. They asked if we could make sure that we had the ventilation and air and the windows open. It was not a problem. The gentleman seemed to always take a decent distance and he didn't walk right up. That was very good. He didn't shake hands when I went to shake his hands. My son-in-law went to shake his hand too and they just bumped elbows.
Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was relatively easy but they wanna take the payment right away. I've had American Home Shield since 1997. I was on and off with the various homes that I had. I even had a couple of policies because a couple of them were rental units and the home warranty covered that as well. I've always looked at it as an extremely good value. I purchased this house for my daughter and the people included a one-year a different homeowner's policy and they covered the roof. That warranty covers a few other things that American Home Shield doesn't cover and their deductible is a little bit less. It is an $80 deductible while my American Home Shield is $100. But doing a comparison side-by-side and when you look at what it was, I'm pretty comfortable that I kept and went ahead and purchased American Home Shield as opposed to keeping the other home warranty.
We used the other home warranty twice for plumbing issues. One was for a cracked toilet and one was for a plumbing issue under the kitchen sink. For both of those issues, the contractors had to return. In other words, they came out, took the deposit, took the payment, but the issue wasn't fixed. This has been probably a little over a year. They replaced the toilet the second time because they said it was a faulty toilet. But I think they just adjusted it wrong. This toilet runs a little bit more than it should after you flush it. It would try and back it down then adjust. I wasn't comfortable with the other home warranty as much as I was with American Home Shield. I have in the past had my fill of American Home Shield when it comes down to their limited supplier base. When we were in San Dimas, I had a policy there and I haven't had challenges with them out here.
This is an insurance that you’d expect their contractors to come out when you have an issue. I realize I'm not their only customer and I don't expect the world to stop. But there's an issue when I call up on a Saturday to I say I have no lights in the house, I got a refrigerator full of food, and I got a house full of kids, and all of a sudden, the contractor's nearest appointment was Friday.
I don't feel bad for myself but I do feel bad for an elderly person or even a younger person who is naive and isn’t gonna say, “Well, wait a second here. My food’s gonna spoil. I need to get this fixed. What do I do in the meantime?” What good is that insurance when I could call an electrician and pay 150 bucks more and get my issue fixed within the hour? That savings is great but that $100 deductible is only a portion of what I've paid for that contract. It's not just the $100 that I should be happy but on the same token, they should be able to provide contractors a lot quicker, which American Home Shield did.
In the past, I had some challenges to where I wouldn’t speak too highly of them. I've had conversations of my fill, frustration-wise, but not on this contract that was purchased for this home. This was the second time we called for them and it seems to have worked out really well. Based on this experience and on what happened during this pandemic business, I'm very likely to recommend American Home Shield. Everything is fine with them.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

Submitted a service request online with AHS for A/C repair on 08/05/2020. Service provider was assigned and a technician arrived on 08/07. Technician determined the blower motor had failed and needed to be replaced. Called service provider back on Monday 08/10 to check status for repair and was told they were having trouble locating a replacement motor. After service provider was not able to find the motor, they notified AHS to get help sourcing the motor.
After a week with heat indexes near 110, and no closer to a resolution, I called my local hvac company to see if they could help locate the motor. Within 15 minutes, my guy located the part. So I called the assigned provider back to let him know where the part was in stock. After several more conversations with the provider, I was told that AHS wouldn't authorize the motor we found because of the cost. So the problem wasn't part availability at all, it was AHS limiting where the part could be purchased and at what cost.
It is now 08/16 and I still do not know when my A/C will be repaired. I have spent many hours on hold and then on the phone with AHS customer service (which is of course outsourced overseas) only to be no closer to a resolution. We purchased this home warranty for our daughter's home while at college to have supposedly peace of mind. This is the first time that we have owned a home warranty and will probably be the last. AHS makes it sound so appealing to get you sold, then once they have you hooked, they don't provide what they are selling. Classic bait and switch maneuvers. I've never been more frustrated dealing with company. Save your time and money. This company is a scam!

But that wasn’t AHS and the only issue I had with them was the wait. We called on a Saturday and nobody could even call us till Monday. The company that AHS hired called us first thing on early Monday morning at a reasonable time. We were very happy with the person who came and that they did call us right away and they gave us the quickest possible day. He wore a mask and he was very professional an polite. He handled everything the way he should and he showed me what was wrong. He fixed it efficiently and he came on time. We would have liked him to come sooner but we're happy with it. We weren't living in the house and we were just moving stuff in and cleaning dishes so it wasn't a major inconvenience.
I don't know that we'll get our money back from AHS but that's what's true of any insurance. The person who told us to get a warranty and recommended AHS had a situation where she got it and only had to pay $75 to get her AC totally replaced or fixed. So, she said it was gonna be worth it. And it was definitely worth it to get something like that because our home was used.

There was a leak. I thought it was a leak coming from the pipe coming out the wall. But when the guy came, he said it wasn't that. It took a real good professional to look at it. It was the faucet that was leaking from the back of the sink. He didn't have the actual piece within that day, but he made an appointment to come back. He did and fixed it in maybe 40 minutes. The experience was very good.
I’ve been in my place now about five years and I’ve had American Home Shield ever since I started. Filing a claim is not difficult but sometimes they get so many customers that it’s hard to get through. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit about two years ago and everything was taken care of. But because it was hot, I was being bothered and I wanted my air conditioning fixed. But American Home Shield is very good. I mention them to a few of my friends when they get their homes. We're in the COVID virus times but they were pretty good in terms of being able to get through, having someone come out and being safe.

The refrigerator was not producing the ice. I called Home Shield and the next day, they told me that someone was coming out. East Coast United came in and assessed what was going on. They showed me that there were some pieces that were clogged and they showed me how I need to make sure to adjust it. They were able to take care of the issue and I haven't had any problems with the refrigerator since. I am very pleased with AHS so far. The technicians are well-prepared, very knowledgeable, and make sure that we had our mask on.

I had AHS years ago and we couldn't afford it anymore ‘cause it got so expensive. When I started, the whole house only cost me $39 for the appliances and it also covered the air conditioning. But it went up so much that we couldn't afford it so we stopped it. We also ended up getting new appliances so I didn't feel that I needed the warranty. But now that we had bought more new appliances about three years ago and their warranty is just about up, I thought of buying the whole house program again. I looked at different places but I felt that American Home Shield was the best, safest, and reliable. I’ve always liked them and I have suggested their service to a couple of my friends.
The AHS rep took all the information right away when I submitted a claim for the AC. She told me who it was who was gonna call me. But they didn't call me early the next day. So I called them and it was very convenient. Integrity was very good. They came out at the time they said they would. They kept their distance and they had masks on. They even had gloves on when they came to the door, too. They were very professional.
I had two different reps come out. The first one was a very knowledgeable, good, and friendly young guy. He was definitely learning, but he was a great guy. A piece was ordered but I was a little upset that it took four days to get it. I thought they could’ve had it in stock or could’ve gotten it quicker, but I didn’t know if they're required to order it from a certain place. The second guy came out with the motor. He knocked on the door, told me he had it, went out, and put it in. When he was done, he left. It looked like a different motor that they put in. It was like a different setup with a wire that he had to strap to the top fan grate. But I've seen it in other air conditioners and everything works fine.

It's easy to submit orders if you go online, but there needs to be some way to contact American Home Shield via telephone if you have a question that doesn't regard a repair job. I had another question regarding an issue, but I couldn't talk to them directly, and that was a problem. On my first claim, we were having problems because my AC wasn't going on when it should, as far as the thermostat. I called them and a fellow from the contracted company came out very quickly. He found the problem. He also cleared up another issue that we thought we were having with the AC, but apparently it wasn't an issue at all.

I signed in and put in whatever the problem was then I got a text message back that said who the contractor was going to be. It was A & R Complete Service. When I got the one I got the message, I called but they had just closed so they came out the next day. The tech was fine and he was friendly. I used AHS once. It was for a plumbing issue with the washer hookup and that was resolved. The contractor that came out was great. This time, the technician didn't have to come out. I fixed the issue. I'm hoping I get refunded this last $100 that I paid because I didn't utilize it. I called my friend, he’s a plumber, after I had already called American Home Shield. My friend told me what to do. My experience with AHS is good although I’m unable to talk to somebody because it is a three-hour hold to even talk to somebody. ARC was the third company that American Home Shield called to try and fix the fridge. They came out once for a quick inspection. But we were not satisfied with the progress that was being made in general. Everybody was just guessing what was wrong and we had already been without a fridge for over three weeks. It was 22 years old and we were probably gonna replace it within the next year anyway, we just decided to replace the fridge instead of having them try to guess on another possible fix and maybe wait another week or two. They didn't do anything wrong but the process with three different companies and six visits took so long that we wanted some sort of resolution. Also, the contractors were doing the best they could with a very old unit so I wasn't upset about the quality of the contractors. They were all courteous and they responded to calls quickly.

Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating provided good service. The gentleman arrived in a timely manner when they had pre-called to let me know when they were coming. He was very courteous. He had a mask on. He came and greeted me at the door, asked what symptoms we were having, and went and did an inspection on the unit. He didn't find anything wrong though. It was kind of a weird glitch. It had a problem then it started functioning correctly. I was afraid that he was gonna run into that. I'll just have to wait and see if we have another. As the machinery gets older, intermittent faults are a possibility. It can't reproduce when he's standing there and I understand that. He explained to me everything that he went through and tested, and I was very comfortable with his diagnosis.
I've had American Home Shield going on 2 years now and I've only used it once but I find it to be good peace of mind. My brother and sister-in-law bought a house in the same timeframe that we did and have had multiple service calls in their house. They have seemed to get really good service too. I have a company that comes out twice a year and does regular overall grooming and tune up maintenance on the air conditioning system since we bought this house. I'm wondering if I have the option of selecting a maintenance company or a person to come out or is it going to always come out of American Home Shield's system.
I would have readily called that company to come for that kind of maintenance because I have a maintenance program with them also. But it's not 100% free just like American Home Shield has a $75 service call fee. The only thing I was a little perplexed on was whether to call American Home Shield or to call the company that does the routine maintenance. Possibly, I'll just turn around and wait and use this, the new company when I start into next year. Currently, I already have another cleaning and inspection service available with the company that I maintain. However, and the main reason I use them is because when we bought this house, it's the people that the previous homeowner had been using. They had good reputation with the Better Business Bureau so I figured they know the history of the machinery in the house.

This is the third time that American Home Shield sent True Master out for the AC. We're trying to figure out what the issue is. We kinda narrowed it down to possibly not enough circuits, but that doesn't have anything to do with them. Every time that they've come out, they've been very professional and timely. American Home Shield's claims process is not bad. We've used it quite a bit. They address it, they send someone out, and if it takes a second time, then I'll call them back out. We had someone out for our AC, and I needed to call Home Shield and schedule or at least ask the tech what the next steps are for them to repair the AC. I'm hesitant to call Home Shield because I know it's gonna be an hour and a half wait to get on the phone with them. That one has just been the hardest part, that I have to set aside an hour and a half to wait on the phone to talk to someone when I'm gonna call them. My claim with AHS is still ongoing. It's been a month now that I've been without my refrigerator. The refrigerator side is freezing all the food. I’ve talked to American Home Shield four times and I've submitted three separate tickets. Initially, I submitted online as far as that the refrigerator was freezing the food. Appliance RX came out and he looked at it that Friday, and said, "Okay. I think I know what it is. Let me order parts." He ordered a sensor and a little circuit board. After he got the parts in, the following week on Friday, he came out and put in the sensor and the circuit board and said, "Okay. That should take care of it." I said, "Okay. That's fine." We put food back in there and it all froze. So we had to throw it away.
I turned in another ticket. The contractor from Appliance RX, he ordered another sensor, came out the following Friday and said, "Oh, yeah. Well, sometimes the sensors are bad. So let me change out the sensor again." I said, "Okay. That's fine." He changed out the sensor. I put a glass of water in there and the water froze, after he put a sensor in. So it still wasn't fixed.
Then I turned in another ticket. It was a different company by that Monday had called me and said, "I got assigned to your Samsung, but I don't work on Samsung." AHS should have known better. I was on the line at least three times with American Home Shield trying to like, "Are you gonna get somebody out here?" Eventually, they assigned somebody else. He came out last Friday and said it’s the damper. He took off the damper and it rattled 'cause there's a broken piece in there and it fell out. Now, I'm still waiting for that company to come and install the damper. So it will be a month tomorrow. As far as the company, it was like, "When I get the part, I'll schedule you immediately, and come out here and do it."
When AHS initially put in for the company that doesn't work on Samsungs, trying to get that rescheduled was absolutely a nightmare 'cause AHS was saying, "We can't do anything 'cause Appliance RX is doing something with a sensor." I said, "Yeah. That's the second time. They still wanna get paid for their second sensor." They were like, "We can't verify that 'cause they haven't gotten back to us and it's later at night." I said, "Okay. So what do I do?" They said, "I'm sorry, you can't. There's nothing we can do. We can't schedule another contractor. We can't do anything for you until we verify that." So it was about three days later before they could even assign somebody else. I have gone out to other warranty companies to see about changing after I get this resolved.
We do apologize for any inconvenience pertaining to your refrigerator. We would be more than happy to assist in a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The claim started with my AC unit. It wasn't blowing out anything. I called the number and told American Home Shield what was going on. I told them that I needed someone to call me and let me know what was gonna happen as soon as possible. I waited a couple days and I wasn’t very happy the first time because the people that they assigned to me never called me. I called them again and I was telling them it was over 100 degrees here and I got two little kids. Sometimes you talk with someone with a thick accent so they have to keep repeating it. That was a little aggravating because it was hot as heck and there was no air. They called the company that they assigned and after some back and forth, I finally got somebody to come out that evening.
There were two guys and they were fine. They went inside and did something with the AC from the inside. They changed out my wall unit thermometer then they went outside and they did some work on the AC outside. They came back and told me they needed a floorboard and they were gonna have to hook it up so it could work. This was on the afternoon of Friday. They came back Monday and put the floorboard on and it was working again.
When the guy that I have to cut my grass came a few days ago, he brought me outside and told me there were all these exposed wires. It was a potential hazard. It could catch on fire and knock out my electrical. I got kids out and they could come and touch it. I needed to call American Home Shield back ‘cause it was really dangerous. The day before yesterday, I called American Home Shield again. I got some pictures first. I told them what the guy told me and they said they were gonna send the contractor back out here.
Last night, a different guy came out and he was very shocked at what he saw. He said it is not the work they do. It’s from the same company that came out and he was a little upset. He brought an electrical tape and cut the wire again. He put electric tape on them and fixed it. He had to take the panel off and put the cords back in the panel ‘cause they just left the cords hanging out of the panel. Then he came in, looked and asked if they replaced my filter. I said I didn't think so and nobody said anything to me. He came in, took the filter, looked at it and took a picture of it. He said, “No, they didn’t.” He put a new filter on and said, “You’re good now.” He was really nice and cool about it and the air started working ever since. As far as American Home Shield, they did what they were supposed to do so I don't have a complaint with them.

This is the second time the air conditioning had an issue. So, the contractor from AHS came and they fixed that. I also had a claim with the faucet. The sprayer had messed up on there. The guy that came out was really nice. He called me back. It was an older thing, so he ended up finding one because he was doing stuff with apartments. He said it was gonna be hard to find what I had in there until I was ready to purchase one. He said, “Well, they're not gonna put what's in here or what you really want. American Home Shield was recommended to me from another person. For the most part, I have not had a problem with their contractors. I submit my claims by phone, and the AHS agents are good. If there is a repeat of the service and the contractor has to come back out, the 60 days that they give you has been pretty good. If you call and say your hot water heater needs to be replaced, as an example, you are charged the $100 deductible. But then, the contractor also would say to you, “There are certain parts that are not covered.” It might be some plumbing problems or piping, and I don’t think that’s fair. You’re paying $100 service fee, you’re paying additional fee each month to cover the thing, and then the person comes out, and you’re gonna spend another couple $100 on parts. Compared to other services, the price is a little high. Other than that, I'm satisfied.

Circa Mechanical came out the first time for our plumbing leak. The plumber said that they did not find a leak. He cut a hole and looked, “I didn’t see anything.” But then when the restoration company came out, they said that there was a leak behind the commode. So they sent their own plumber to repair it. But when they finished, I went back a couple of days later, it looked like it was still leaking.
I was trying to get the plumbing company, Circa, to come back out and look at it again. But the second time the contractors came out, they didn’t show up. The guy said he was on his way, but nobody showed up. So Monday, I called that same number and asked, “You’ve texted me but you didn't show up.” He said, “You have to call the company.” I said, “Why would you text me and you don’t show up? I stayed at home waiting for you.” I had to call two times to get them to finally come back out, which was days later. Then the last guy came out, he was really nice and he could not find a leak. But it was wet ‘cause it was still dripping from the construction.
Their follow-up is horrible. Whoever the dispatcher is should’ve made sure that those calls were followed through instead of putting it was complete ‘cause it wasn’t complete. They kept putting “complete”. So it could have been someone just not reading it well ‘cause American Home Shield called them the second time out. I was on the phone with American Home Shield. So somebody could have read it and thought, “Oh, we were just out there. Maybe this is a mistake.” But the plumbers, except for that one that didn't show up, were very professional.

I have two units, one on the east side and one on the west side of the house. I had tried to contact American Home Shield again yesterday afternoon to see if the contractor could come and see what's going on with the AC. American Home Shield could improve on the hold time to get someone on the phone to answer when we're trying to call in. Yesterday, it was an hour and a half wait. I was on the road, so I could not waste my battery on trying to have someone answer the phone.
I wanted to see what had been done previously to the one on the west side to see if it could be done to the one on the east side because it had the same issue, but it was a different company that had come. I didn't like that company so I had requested Hector's AC. He came right away. He looked to see what was wrong but he said he couldn't find anything wrong other than the freon was low so he refilled. He was there a couple hours, looked for issues but said he didn't find anything. But it's acting up again. I could hear the compressor going and the air blowing, but the AC was not cooling.

I bought a house, and American Home Shield was recommended by my Realtor. I got an email about changing my locks. And so, having just moved in, I said, “Yes, I want my locks changed.” I don't want the old people having keys. So, I did it. I called American Home Shield and they sent Ron's Locksmith. They told me the day the tech would show up. They ended up having him call me to schedule, and it was within a short period of time. He was great. He was in and out. I showed him where my locks were. I left him alone, and 45 minutes later, it was completed and he handed me the new keys. Overall, it was a good process.

It is Arizona in the summertime and it's 112 degrees outside. The air conditioner had been running almost constantly. My electric bill has gone through the roof. So I knew something was wrong. Just Better Air Conditioning and Heating came out and inspected the unit. What was really great about it was although the air conditioner worked just fine, he did figure out what the problem was and it had something to do with my ductwork. This is a mobile home and all the ductwork runs underneath it. Some of that ductwork had come unhooked. So a bunch of that cold air is going under the house instead of in the house.
The technician checked all the temperatures. He checked the unit and made sure that it was running properly and that it wasn't dirty. He also checked the filters. There was a split differential between what the temperature was supposed to be coming out of the registers and what was going into the vent, and those were all aligned. They were actually awesome. They did a really great job and were on time. The guy had a mask and gloves on. Overall, American Home Shield is efficient, trustworthy, and well worth the price.

Our air conditioner was not working. It happened on a Saturday and we slept two nights without air. AHS said it was 24-hour service and we assumed the technician would come, but they did not. The technician didn't come until Monday but they got it fixed the first time. We have had problems with American Home Shield before but this time, it worked out okay. We'd recommend it.

The website of American Home Shield was easy to use. I reached out to them once I got a number on their contact information on the website. I called 'cause of the AC. It's summer. The contractors that came were okay and really quick. They were responsive. I thought they should've done it in the first round, not three times, but they were good. The first time, they worked on both units, and then the one downstairs kept on having issues. They replaced the same piece twice. The first time, we had a little computer on the outside, a furnace, and then they also had to replace a whole vent in the attic. They fixed it and they were prompt. I live in Vegas and the AC is essential. The repair helped a lot. We're working from home now, so it's great. I'm satisfied. I will definitely continue using the service of American Home Shield.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!
