We have used AHS to cover a few homes over the years, and they weren't always that bad. When you get a warranty, you have to understand that the providers these warranty companies normally can't get business otherwise. In most cases, it is a waiting and escalation game to get anything done. Our AC unit started having issues in April 2025, and a claim was started. Provider came out, diagnosed, and filled with Freon. In May, we called them out for the same thing, and the provider ordered a replacement of the system. Fast forward 3 months to almost August, and the system has still not been replaced. There have been failures in ordering pasts, holding providers accountable, etc.
Even with multiple escalations a week, we find ourselves with rude escalation supervisors who can only "provide a status update" that they will provide a status update the next day. If I was the leadership of this company, I would be embarrassed. We came in with pretty low expectations, but 3 months is excessive. We have filed a complaint with BBB, and we have escalated within AHS numerous times, but cannot seem to find anyone with accountability and authority to resolve this matter within AHS.
Hello James and Aron,
Thank you for the review so that we can better serve our customers.
I apologize there have been some equipment delays. I will be reaching out to you to assist.
Thank you.

My refrigerator stopped working. It took days to get a technician here and he announced he doesn’t work on closed systems. Several more days and a second gentleman came to tell me he isn’t certified yet and wouldn’t be certified to work on the refrigerator for another 30 days. By then I had no refrigerator for 9 days; had spent over $200 on ice and dry ice to keep from losing all our food and then I heard nothing more from AHS. I tried to quit the company but there is no way to call them save through a call center in the Philippines! They cannot cancel my contract and the minimum wait on hold was Z1 1/2 hrs. I spent 3 hrs one day trying to talk to someone about my problem. The Philippines can’t cancel and they didn’t have a phone number I could call.
From 7/3/25 until today, 7/21/25 I could not cancel. They kept my $125 service call fee and took another monthly payment from my bank of $59.58. They won’t refund the service charge and when I asked them to refund the monthly payment since I heard nothing from the company since 7/3 he instead told me he would waive the $50 cancellation fee!!! Are you kidding me?! I had AHS with a proper home that burned down in the “camp” fire in 2018 and they were great but now they are the worst company without any customer service I have ever had dealings with. There is no phone number to talk to the company except to sign up. After that it’s routed to the Philippines where they message the company of your needs and apparently even those get ignored!
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.
Best Regards,

Unfortunately, I'm a current American Home Shield customer and extremely disappointed with this company. As a customer, you pay an annual fee, then a $100 fee for a technician to come and repair a defective item. So far, everything has gone as agreed, but the shock is when you think they're going to proceed with the repair, they come up with countless excuses to avoid taking responsibility for what was established in the previous contract. Without further ado, I do not recommend this company; it's a scam.
Michel, we’re very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. Thank you for your feedback—it helps us improve. If you’d like to discuss this further, please reach out to us directly at socialmedia@ahs.com with your contract information and a copy of your review. We’d appreciate the opportunity to resolve your concerns.

If your smart!! Use another company! They will force you to pay for unnecessary stuff with ac systems or they won't fix the issue. Then they will try to find every loophole they can to not pay for repairs. I'm sick of it. I will be looking else where for coverage. I truly believe they are scammers. Take take take. Never give. Pos company.
Hi Matt,
Thank you for reaching out to us on this platform. I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience and any miscommunication regarding our coverage. We appreciate your understanding, and please know that we’ll be here for you whenever you need us in the future.

The door of our dishwasher was rusting and it was leaking. The timer parts needed to be replaced too. American Home Shield had Express Appliance come out for the service, but the dishwasher is so old that they couldn't find a part. In the end, they replaced the entire unit for us.
We've run the new dishwasher a few times, and it’s working well so far. I wasn’t present during the service calls, but from what my wife reported, the technicians were professional and got the job done effectively.
In terms of dealing with American Home Shield, the process was smooth, but the timeline was a bit longer than preferred. It took about a month from filing the claim at the start of June until the new dishwasher was installed. During that time, I had to follow up myself, as there was a lack of proactive communication from both the home warranty company and the technicians.
Overall, the service was satisfactory. Despite the wait, everything turned out fine in the end. However, better communication throughout the process would significantly improve the experience from good to excellent.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

When my microwave was not working, navigating the claims process online was straightforward thanks to American Home Shield's user-friendly website, but the service I received from Sears, their contracted service provider, was lacking.
Although the technician seemed knowledgeable and friendly, actual repairs fell short. They either did not complete the work or didn't show up as scheduled, resulting in a frustrating situation that spanned over a year with scheduled visits about six times. They came at least twice. Ultimately, American Home Shield replaced the microwave. It took about four months though.
As for American Home Shield's customer service, breaking through to someone who could genuinely assist was often difficult. It seems their customer service has been outsourced, which results in a lack of effective support and escalation options. I appreciate the quick responses in most cases, but when real problems arise, their so-called escalation department feels ineffective.
While I did find some value, such as relatively comprehensive coverage and an easy-to-use online tool, American Home Shield's customer support and service delivery need substantial improvement. I'd rate them a cautious 3.5 out of 5, although customer service in isolation would earn a mere 1. If you’re considering their services, proceed carefully and consider these aspects.
Charlene, thank you for your feedback. We're glad our online claims process worked well for you, but we're sorry for the delays and service issues you experienced with Sears and our customer support. We understand how frustrating that must have been and appreciate your patience. Your insights help us improve, and we’re working to strengthen both our contractor network and support services. Thank you for being a valued member.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for a few years now and we've had some issues with them here and there. When they switched to a new system about three years ago, we had some problems with them as well.
We recently had an experience with Fast Response Heating and Cooling. We had an issue with our motor and they came out quickly, but the situation didn’t go as smoothly as hoped. They took our motor with them and promised to get back to us, but a week or two passed with no updates. It was frustrating because we couldn’t call another company due to them having the motor. Whenever we called, they claimed to put us on the schedule, but this never materialized, and we were persistently left without a resolution. They also said they'll have somebody call back, but nobody ever called back. It was rough. American Home Shield tried to reach out to Fast Response Heating and Cooling and they just got a voicemail box that was full. They were gonna send out an urgent email to the service company, but then they got back with us the next day, and it was resolved after that a couple of days later.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Ashley. We truly appreciate your continued trust in American Home Shield over the years, and we’re sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your recent service request.
We understand how frustrating it must have been to deal with delays and lack of communication, especially when your comfort was impacted. We're glad to hear that the issue was ultimately resolved, but we recognize that the process should have been smoother and more transparent from the start.
Please know that we’re committed to improving our service and ensuring that our contractors meet the standards our members deserve. If you ever encounter similar issues again, don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re here to help.

I had an issue with my air conditioner American Home Shield dispatched AC Wizards to address it. While they promptly fixed the issue by replacing the coil, there was an unfortunate incident where a small herb grinder went missing from my garage after the workers were there. When I mentioned the loss, American Home Shield suggested that perhaps I had misplaced it. Although the item wasn’t particularly expensive, it's the principle that mattered—I'm certain it was taken during the service visit. Despite this, the representative who helped me initially was polite and listened to my concerns.
In terms of service coordination, the technician seemed professional. I even tried to make their work environment more comfortable, offering water and snacks as they worked in the attic during warm conditions. In general, the subcontractor’s approach started well but left me with trust issues following the incident. I've been with American Home Shield for some time now and I like the service. The warranty is good to have, but the experience depends on the workers that come out. You just have to be careful, put things away, and watch them.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope you continue to enjoy AHS.

When I first bought my house 18 years ago, it was new and it had a one-year warranty with American Home Shield. I stayed with them and have had numerous experiences with their service. I had an issue that involved a broken toilet, for which I submitted a claim over the phone, speaking with a live representative for assistance. Other than being informed I would get a follow-up email from the contractors, I wasn't given much information upfront, but Triple Plumbing Inc. eventually came out and provided great service by installing new parts in the back of the toilet. It’s noteworthy that everything has been functioning well since their visit.
I have family that already has American Home Shield and I appreciate that the home warranty company sends reliable service people who follow through with their promises. However, a major point of contention is their tendency to raise prices without prior notification. I didn't see it until my credit card bill came. They've increased both the monthly fees (twice) and the service call fees, all without any notice or written consent.
I generally have no complaints about the quality of the service providers. I like them. American Home Shield's customer service is commendable, although there's room for improvement in how they communicate pricing changes. Still, my overall experience remains largely positive.

When our water heater wasn't making hot water, I went online and used American Home Shield's web page to submit a claim. It was straightforward and user-friendly, and after filing, Level 99 Plumbing came out to assess the situation. Their communication and interaction were commendable, and they proceeded to clean the water heater to resolve the issue. Now, everything is functioning just fine, which I’m pleased about.
What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is the ease of calling them to have things fixed promptly. However, one area I believe could improve is transparency in coverage details—knowing what’s covered before any payment is made would be beneficial.
I've utilized their services for about 10 years across two homes. I would tell friends or family American Home Shield offers a good deal worth considering for home warranty needs.

I thought that AHS would be one of the elite ones because of the promotion, and so far, they've been very good. But they should screen their technicians better. Some of them were horrible, while others were really good. I had several technicians who said something was wrong that wasn't actually wrong trying to get me to purchase or to pay for an uncovered type of service. And when there are complaints about them, AHS should get rid of them. I made a complaint about one of the service technicians that lied about their service, and the next time I needed that same type of service, AHS referred the exact same company. Right now, I'm dealing with one of their contractors. They gave me an estimate for uncovered service, and I'm about to find out if they lied about it. If that's the case, then after that, I'll be filing a formal complaint again.
Hello Warren, we are sorry to hear your experience with technicians has been less than satisfactory. We do take into consideration of how our customers view them as a partner. American Home Shield's customer service was satisfactory and the technicians who visited were decent. However, things took a turn when my air conditioner broke down. It seemed like they wanted to keep fixing it rather than replacing it, which I found quite frustrating. I felt unsatisfied, especially since my previous warranty with another company had covered a similar issue more thoroughly, allowing for upgrades as needed.
I also had a technician tell me I needed an entirely new HVAC system, but then relay to American Home Shield that only a part was needed. It felt like they were trying to sell me their services instead of genuinely solving the issue. Because of this, I ultimately had to finance the new system out of pocket, which was something I hoped to avoid by having a warranty plan in the first place.

My first year with American Home Shield was bundled in with my closing costs on my new home and since I had a great first-year experience, I decided to renew for another year. Recently, my upstairs AC unit stopped producing cold air. I tried to submit a claim through their website, which is generally user-friendly, but I encountered an issue as there was no option to select service for my AC unit. I had to reach out via support chat to get the claim through. When Myers Comfort Specialist of Birmingham came to fix the issue, they were efficient and thorough. They inspected the outdoor AC unit and later found a leak in the Freon in the attic. After patching the leak and refilling the Freon, my unit has been running perfectly. I had a fantastic interaction with the contractors; both were knowledgeable and friendly.
The ease of submitting claims online, the flat rate regardless of the issue, and the quality contractors provided have all contributed to my favorable view of American Home Shield. If I were to improve anything, it would be to have clearer website options for service selections, but otherwise, my experience has been great.

When I had an issue with my heating and cooling system, it was disappointing to find out it wasn't covered by American Home Shield, and I ended up spending $8,000 on a new system. I attempted to communicate with American Home Shield to see if they could send someone for a second opinion, but it seemed like their process was heavily automated. The communication wasn't straightforward, and even when talking to someone, they were mostly there to input information without providing real answers.
Having spent around $600 to $700 annually, plus additional service fees, it was frustrating when a significant repair wasn't covered. It almost felt as though the company that assessed my system didn't genuinely investigate the issue. Overall, although American Home Shield covers smaller issues, they fell short when I really needed them. Moreover, while their online platform is functional, it didn’t bridge the gap in assistance I was hoping for.
Hello Thomas, I thank you for your being a valued customer. In most cases when a customer is not agreeing with price, that does not result in a second opinion due to it will only cost you more money because the service fee will be due. When electing to upgrade a unit, the price can be more based on your selection. We will take all feedback and us it to improve ways to bridge all platforms. Thank you for being a valued customer.

My refrigerator stopped being cold and wasn't working at all. Unfortunately, it wasn't repairable, so I needed to get a new one. Given that my refrigerator was older, I was unable to find an identical replacement with similar features. However, as a senior citizen, I valued their guidance. They offered me a limit for a new purchase and I managed to pick a model that's within this budget limit, which at least ensured it worked, even if it lacked my previous refrigerator's features.
Throughout this challenging experience, I am grateful that American Home Shield supported me. Their representatives were accessible, and I could always speak directly to a person without hassle. They were prompt in setting up claims, providing reference numbers, and ensuring follow-through all the way till my issue was resolved. While I hoped the deductible could be lower, especially since I'm on a fixed income, the assurance they provide is crucial. Being in a warm home when the refrigerator was down could've been much worse without their timely help. Honestly, if it weren't for the warranty, the cost of replacing a refrigerator would have been daunting.
In essence, although the newer appliance didn't match my previous one's luxe features, the peace of mind provided by American Home Shield support was invaluable. I would give them a strong positive rating, based on my encounter, both for customer service and quality of service.

I faced an unexpected issue when our shower flooded, which caused significant water damage to our master bathroom and affected our living room ceiling. When American Home Shield sent a contractor to investigate, they didn't immediately detect the problem because the flooding had already stopped—from the toilets to the shower—everything seemed to be functioning normally again. However, the reality was that the severe flooding had already occurred.
On our insistence, they arranged for a second evaluation. The first visit was prompt, happening the next day, while the second took place two days after our request, which we made on a Friday. This inconsistency in addressing the root issue was frustrating, especially considering our reliance on them for resolution.
Reflecting on my experience with American Home Shield, I'd rate them a 3 out of 5. While their response time was decent, the initial oversight with the inspection left me less than satisfied. I was introduced to American Home Shield through a friend's recommendation but found nothing specifically memorable or standout about the service. When recommending them to others, I would advise being keenly aware of the exact coverage details to avoid discrepancies. Overall, this experience made me cautious about ensuring clarity on service terms with warranty providers.
Hello Antoya, we are sorry to hear that with your initial request, our contractors were not able to detect an issue due to the problem had already occurred. Our realtor cousin who sold us a home provided us with a year of American Home Shield coverage as a gift. During that first year, we faced several appliance issues, and the responsiveness of the service hooked us, prompting us to continue using it proactively. I'm quite satisfied with the service; the whole process of submitting a claim was simple and intuitive. We recently had to deal with our air conditioning not cooling, and I found the online claim process straightforward. The website clearly guides you, though I did have to spend a moment deciphering some technical terms like HVAC-related items for accurate reporting.
The response from the service was quick. We received a text confirmation after submitting our claim, and communication since has been clear and timely. When the contractor arrived, they made sure everything was functioning as it should be, and since then everything has been running smoothly with no issues.
I really like how prompt they are in addressing claims, which matters a lot when things go wrong at home. However, some time back, we had a language barrier issue when needing a refund—getting clear communication in such cases can be tough sometimes.

The dryer simply wasn't powering on, which was frustrating considering it was only about three and a half years old. I was surprised to find that appliances nowadays tend to have a relatively short lifespan, often around five years, according to the technicians I spoke with.
The technician from ATY Services who came for the repair was excellent, even replacing the motherboard and the dryer board, essentially overhauling the appliance's internals. Despite these efforts, the dryer remained non-functional. After multiple visits, it was decided that a replacement was the best solution, and American Home Shield stepped in to provide a new unit.
The new washer and dryer combo are working perfectly, which was a relief. Additionally, I appreciated American Home Shield’s coordination throughout this process. The repeated visits did become cumbersome, but they promptly addressed the issue by replacing the unit, which was much appreciated.
In terms of improvement, there wasn’t anything that stood out, as I found the service effective and well-organized. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was positive, and I would rate their service a five for ensuring the issues were resolved satisfactorily.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I called American Home Shield for air conditioning repairs, where a representative provided assistance over the phone. The technician they sent was quite helpful, and everything about the repair itself went smoothly.
Now, I'm awaiting another service for my refrigerator. American Home Shield notified me that the repair will take place between 11 AM and 5 PM. These ongoing interactions have mainly been seamless.
While I appreciate the customer service, I found parts of the coverage limited. For example, when it came to replacing Freon in my air conditioning, the warranty did not fully cover the expenses. I ended up paying $325 for three pounds, yet the warranty offset only $30. That was a surprise since the Freon costs are notably high.
Nonetheless, understanding these limits, I'd rate their warranty product at around 4 stars because it mostly covers needed repairs, though not always extensively. The initial sales process was pleasant and largely informative—I’d give that aspect another 4 stars due to the Freon oversight.
Despite these issues, the package's pricing is satisfactory, which I'd rate a 5 for its overall value. While I haven't engaged with their website, my interactions with American Home Shield offer peace of mind and valuable fixture care when breakdowns occur.
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback with us regarding your air conditioning and refrigerator services. It's great to hear that overall interactions have been smooth and that our services provide you peace of mind. We acknowledge your concerns about the limits of coverage, especially concerning the Freon replacement. Rest assured, your input is essential as we continually strive to deliver fair and comprehensive solutions to ease the financial burden of home repairs. I took the opportunity to work with American Home Shield, given the need for a repair on my AC unit. I've had a warranty with them since purchasing my house back in 2014. Initially, their representative who visited was pleasant and had been to our home a few times over the years for various issues. However, a different technician who actually carried out the repair wasn't as polished and didn't communicate effectively. This has developed into a common pattern whenever we're in need of more intricate services.
As for the claim process itself, it generally takes quite some time for them to respond—regardless of urgency—leaving us in sweltering heat for nearly ten days. The customer interactions range with mixed experiences. While the support team is friendly, they often seem to be guided by call scripts and don't speak English fluently, which further complicates communication.
Moreover, certain vendors American Home Shield partners with, like Beaches Air Conditioning, seem to treat customers associated with AHS differently—oftentimes providing subpar service. Even in the midst of fulfilling regular repair duties, service delays make an uncomfortable situation worse, especially in extreme weather conditions.
Overall, it's been a frustrating blend of decent intentions hindered by ineffective execution and delayed processes. Most of the issues got resolved, but the slow response and communication barriers lead me to rate the experience a 2 out of 5. While it's nice that repairs are ultimately made, American Home Shield could implement enhancements like streamlining operations more effectively and ensuring better contractor relations moving forward.

Initially, everything seemed fine when Advanced Drains and Plumbing Repairs came out to address an issue. Our upstairs bathroom had some residual material, and we were unsure if it was a backup or something that required snaking or draining. The plumber thoroughly checked everything and reassured us there were no blockages, resolving the problem promptly.
While Advanced Drains had provided satisfactory service, my experience with American Home Shield itself has been mixed. Although it's convenient to have a service to rely on, reaching American Home Shield can be quite a hassle. Getting through to them takes a while, and their service has become increasingly expensive. The costs for being a member are $100 a month, and every call-out incurs an additional $100 fee. With prices creeping up, their affordability on a fixed income becomes questionable.
Communication with American Home Shield sometimes presents challenges due to language barriers, and on one occasion, they scheduled a much later appointment than needed. I had to insist on an earlier appointment because I knew a contractor who could come out sooner. This unnecessary rigmarole slightly strained my experience with them.
I usually prefer to call rather than use their online services, valuing direct communication with a representative. In rating my overall experience with American Home Shield, I would give it a 3 out of 5. However, the quality of service from technicians and contractors deserves a higher 5 out of 5. That said, the rising costs bring my financial satisfaction down to a 3. Despite some hurdles, American Home Shield remains a workable choice for my needs, hence why I've recommended it to others in certain contexts.

In the past, American Home Shield would promptly send reputable contractors who tackled issues efficiently, but my recent encounters have been marred by less professional service providers. The technicians that American Home Shield sent out were usually professional in the past. The last group of people they sent out for my plumbing claim came out in unmarked cars. They did show me a badge. They did do an invoice. But it was like it wasn't really a company. It was just somebody you looked up. In the past, it's been someone that you could look up online and know that they were a company. But these last people were supposed to fix my plumbing. But they charged me an extra $300 for access to my plumbing line.
With my heating system, American Home Shield sent out a company that replaced the whole heating and air conditioning system, but did not replace the condenser that holds the water on top of the heating when the air is running. It rusted out. I had a flood in a cement basement and they wanted to stick by it. I ended up having to get in touch with somebody higher up because I wrote the president of the company a letter. So they had to come out and fix it. But not everybody is that fortunate.
These experiences have motivated me to explore alternatives as I'm disappointed with American Home Shield's deteriorating service quality. Fees continue to rise, but the level of service hasn't kept pace. American Home Shield should be honest about what they offer because right now, the consumer is not getting a complete picture of what they have to offer. They're telling you they cover your home in case of an emergency, but that's a lie.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I entered into an agreement with American Home Shield around the beginning of the year. Recently, I had MSC Inc. come out for the second time because the initial repair was ineffective. Initially, I was charged nearly $800 for Freon that wasn't even necessary as it turned out the thermostat was the real issue. I'm skeptical about whether they actually added Freon.
During their second visit, they attempted to charge me again, but after discussing with them how I had already paid so much, they consulted with their boss and decided to replace the thermostat at no additional charge. Although this finally solved the issue, they've yet to address my initial payment unfairly spent on Freon.
I feel it should fall on American Home Shield to advocate on my behalf, communicate with MSC Inc., and secure a refund for me. I shouldn’t be left with the responsibility of chasing this refund myself. Given this frustrating experience, I would currently rate American Home Shield as a 1 on a 1 to 5 scale, reflecting my disappointment with the handling of the claim.

I encountered some electrical issues in my house. Every time I plugged in a heavy-duty device, my fuse would blow. Additionally, one socket wouldn't allow a plug to go in, as though it was jammed. When Mary from RNS Electric, the contractor dispatched by American Home Shield, came over, she confirmed this by tapping the socket. It literally sparked, and she recognized it was due to the outlet being "closed." Mary rewired it carefully, explaining throughout the process.
She educated me on the power requirements of my electric fireplace heater, suggesting an update from my current outdated wattage. However, this update wasn’t covered by American Home Shield; it was something I had to handle separately since my home is older and limited to 25 watts, whereas I needed an upgrade to 50 watts.
After over five years with American Home Shield, there was only one instance with some plumbing in my bathroom that needed more attention, but they effectively resolved it by substituting a less satisfactory plumber with a more reliable one. They continuously uphold their reputation by swiftly addressing issues and sending skilled service providers. That transparency is noteworthy because every inspector fully explains what they're doing, ensuring thorough communication.
Because of my positive experience, I’ve already recommended American Home Shield to three others, and they've signed up with satisfaction too. I would gladly share how American Home Shield’s responsive service, professional conduct, and thoroughness in communication mark their standout qualities.
Thank you for sharing your excellent feedback about your experience with American Home Shield. My refrigerator wasn't making ice. Amtech services came out promptly to tackle the problem, and initially, it seemed they had fixed it. However, recurring issues persisted. Despite reaching out for further assistance, I faced frustrating delays, with their responsiveness falling short of my expectations. When I reached Amtech directly, my calls went unanswered after several attempts, compelling me to contact American Home Shield directly. Regrettably, their slowness persisted, taking two weeks for the technician to follow up. Consequently, I ultimately decided to cancel the service to forego further expense without satisfactory results.
Regarding American Home Shield's customer service, direct interaction with them often involved extended wait times or diversion to automated responses unless the inquiry pertained to billing or subscriptions. This was frustratingly time-consuming, encompassing a week-long process for a mere response. I can say that my sentiment remained unfulfilled regarding their resolution speed.

RPS Appliance is a competent and professional company, but American Home Shield frequently sends the wrong parts, despite clear instructions from RPS Appliance about what is needed. My ongoing issue stretches over three months now, with unresolved problems regarding my oven. I recently had to face a similar frustration with replacing an ice maker, taking multiple visits and parts mismatched to finally get it somewhat functional.
It's disheartening to rely on appliance services that appear to cut costs at every corner. I stumbled upon many poor reviews about AHS partnering companies, with even some legal actions initiated by dissatisfied customers. This reflects consistently in their service — where cost-saving overtakes customer satisfaction, resulting in prolonged issues and unwelcome stress.
Over the years since starting my service in 2016, I have regularly received subpar service, and companies AHS has assigned, often appear incompetent or mismanaged. Despite assurances about premium service and meticulous care in maintenance, my experiences suggest otherwise. They once suggested the only service in my area was a repetitive poor-choice but with persistence could rearrange for a reputable company, acknowledging its increased cost.
I've decided this is where I'll part ways with AHS, rejecting renewing my coverage. If they prioritized understanding and addressing repeated consumer feedback for quality service and accurately paired supportive maintenance enterprises, they'd perhaps maintain long-term clients like me, who find value in dependable home solutions.

My garage door, previously installed by the former homeowners, had been giving me trouble. The technician sent by American Home Shield did a commendable job with the repairs, though he candidly mentioned that my setup was outdated. It was clear I needed significant updates, with the springs worn out and the motor overtaxed due to an improper fit.
My dilemma is whether to call them back for more temporary fixes or save for a thorough overhaul instead. The technician was upfront and did his utmost given the state of the garage door, but it's clear more extensive work is required. It's unclear in my discussions with American Home Shield if there's an option for a second opinion.
I've had positive interactions with other service providers sent through American Home Shield, such as plumbers. The online portal for setting up service requests is quite efficient, often getting responses within a couple of days. This experience, however, with the garage door leaves me in two minds. If the product continues to function subpar, I plan to delve deeper into my options with American Home Shield.
In terms of feedback, I find their overall service satisfactory. I would give them a four out of five. While their service and responsiveness have been good, price hikes have taken away some of the appeal. Specifically, their easy-to-navigate online system earns high marks from me. Despite my experience not being perfect, I am satisfied to have their coverage, having benefited from services like water heater replacements which saved me considerable expenses upfront.

Initially, the refrigerator wasn't cooling and Sears struggled for two months without a resolution. American Home Shield then had Mr. Appliance take over, and they quickly diagnosed the issue.
Though we already had the parts, courtesy of the delays with Sears, Mr. Appliance came back to repair it. Unfortunately, the repair didn't succeed right away. The freezer wasn't reaching the needed temperatures, and there was an apparent internal leak in the coils. Eventually, American Home Shield decided the refrigerator had to be replaced.
Instead of a straightforward replacement, I received an e-card for a partial amount. They subtracted the ineffective service costs from that total, covering only half of what was needed for a new appliance.
My experience started perfectly but faltered greatly with this fridge issue. The customer service score from past experiences would be a 5, but in this instance, the fridge repair was unsatisfactory,.

It began when my tenant notified me that the mini split in our property stopped working. Initially, a technician from Third Generation diagnosed a bad circuit board and suggested a fan motor replacement. The fan motor replacement took weeks, only to find out later it was something else. They replaced the circuit board, and for a moment, it worked. But soon after, my tenant called again, reporting the issue persisted.
Further checks indicated it was an electrical problem, although the breakers showed no faults, according to the initial report. I personally discovered the breakers were blown and replaced them myself. Even after an electrician ensured everything was receiving power, the system still wouldn't operate. American Home Shield dispatched another technician who said the compressor was faulty, mentioning dye present in the Freon – something I surely didn't add.
Despite waiting weeks for a response to this last issue, I was finally informed that the damage was due to 'unusual use,' and they refused to cover it. I'm baffled since the system functioned perfectly up until two months ago under regular conditions. Due to this frustrating ordeal and having spent over two months without air conditioning, I firmly decided not to continue with American Home Shield. I’d advise anyone considering them to stay away, as my experience with their service was deeply disappointing and far from satisfactory.

I needed assistance with an AC repair through American Home Shield and unfortunately, my experience wasn't satisfactory. When J & S All Tech handled the repairs, the technician indicated the capacitor needed replacement and mentioned additional maintenance work that wasn't covered. He assured me that I'd receive receipts for the extra work, but I never did despite paying him. I tried reaching out, but he never returned my calls, and even hung up on my wife.
Despite relaying my dissatisfaction in the survey I filled out for American Home Shield, I didn't receive a response regarding this issue. Their past services had been more reliable, with prompt communication and proper documentation provided via email or text, which was why this incident was so frustrating.
This situation underscored the need for improved follow-up from American Home Shield. After all, reliable documentation is essential not only for peace of mind but also for tax purposes. If something isn't properly documented, it’s hard to have faith in the outcome.

My hot water heater was leaking. The technician American Home Shield assigned was great, but unfortunately, there was a hiccup with the parts ordering process. American Home Shield ordered the wrong water heater, making it a taller and skinnier model which was unsuitable. This mistake led to a lost day of work for me, as I took a day off only to find out about this error after the fact. Thankfully, they managed to deliver the correct parts within a couple of days, and the technician returned to complete the installation promptly in the morning after my overnight shift. Since then, everything has been working well. AHS should let the technician that does the repair make that order so what happened won't happen again. I ended up missing out on 160 bucks.

Fast Response Heating recently replaced a piece in my air conditioning unit in a timely manner. However, American Home Shield typically finds the cheapest fix for issues rather than offering a comprehensive solution. Over the years we've used their service, it's as if they're just putting a temporary band-aid on the problem, never fully addressing it.
Whenever the heat rises or drops to extreme temperatures, our air conditioning or furnace would fail, leading to repeated calls and visits. Instead of thoroughly solving the issue, they repeatedly make minimal repairs, leading me to feel like this service is more like catastrophic insurance than an everyday solution. I've had this experience for almost a decade.
Setting up requests online is simple; I'd give their online service a solid score due to how efficiently it's managed and how easily I procure services. However, given the hassles and ongoing issues with repair quality, I would warn friends and family about their approach.

The repair work done by Discount Contractors was satisfactory—they did what was required to address the plumbing issue. However, I did face a hiccup regarding the faucet replacement, which did not match the existing ones in my home because American Home Shield couldn’t supply a matching faucet.

We needed a plumbing repair when we encountered issues with our toilets; some valves were rusted and required immediate attention. Chris The Plumber demonstrated impressive professionalism and efficiently resolved the problem, ensuring everything worked perfectly by the end of the visit.
However, my experience took a downturn when I needed assistance with a separate HVAC issue. Another company, 24/7, was dispatched by American Home Shield, and they were far from helpful. They were only at my house briefly, were rude, and failed to fix the leaking valve related to the boiler. Their approach left me disappointed and frustrated, as they insisted that fixing the issue would incur additional costs and ultimately did nothing to remedy the situation.
This prompted me to reach out to American Home Shield to report the inadequacy of 24/7's service and seek a resolution. Unfortunately, getting a clear answer regarding coverage from American Home Shield's customer service proved difficult. Whenever I reached out, the response was inadequate, often with representatives who barely understood English and left many of my inquiries unanswered. This lack of clarity and the inability to verify what my warranty covered was particularly concerning. I’ve used American Home Shield intermittently over the past years, sometimes switching companies when dissatisfied. The reason being, there have been inconsistent experiences with their customer service — with some representatives well-informed while others provide conflicting information.
A significant hurdle has been the delayed process of assigning vendors to fix issues. On multiple occasions, I've waited over a week for a technician to be dispatched to not only acknowledge an issue but also to schedule repairs, which becomes troublesome for critical appliances like refrigerators or washers. Moreover, the language barrier with their customer support team often leads to communication challenges, adding to the mishandling of service requests or miscommunication, as exemplified by an instance where dual payments were mistakenly deducted from my account.
On the positive side, American Home Shield has, on occasion, replaced large items like my hot water tank and pool loader with equal or better models. Unfortunately, their online system is often outdated, leading to further frustrations in communication and service continuity. In my proactive efforts, I constantly felt burdened with "chasing" solutions rather than receiving a seamless service expected from my investment in the warranty. American Home Shield should step up and make sure stuff gets done.

Though they returned after my complaint, it was only then that they identified that a crucial part was needed for repair. It's frustrating, especially considering that I am terminally ill, and I've been dealing with the unresolved issue since June 30th.
The first technician showed a lack of professionalism, having not accomplished anything. Thankfully, the second visit included two technicians, seemingly more experienced, who immediately saw that the problem could have been fixed much sooner.

I purchased American Home Shield starting in January to help manage repairs and maintenance for my rental property. When my tenant called about a potential leak, I documented the issue and placed a work order. A plumber identified it wasn't a leakage but a siding issue that requires new siding around the exterior doors to prevent water entry.
While this situation still needs resolution from another professional, the process until now has been seamless. Despite a previous work order that had some delays due to a sluggish technician team, AHS has provided prompt customer service, quick responses, and diligent follow-ups on active work orders.
Overall, I'm satisfied with their service and would recommend AHS to others.
We're delighted to hear about your positive experience with American Home Shield. Ensuring that our clients receive seamless service, from placing work orders to managing follow-ups, is a top priority for us. Your satisfaction and recommendation mean a lot, as they reflect the commitment and hard work of our entire team in resolving issues promptly and professionally. When AHS sent Patrick Murphy Plumbing to fix my faucet, the handles were messed up, but the problem was quickly resolved at the appointment. However, I encountered an issue with scheduling. The repair technician was initially unwilling to adjust his time to fit my schedule, which required intervention from American Home Shield. After contacting them, they were able to work things out, and he came at a more convenient time for me.
I've been with AHS for quite some time, and they’ve managed to provide good service over the years. The claims process is straightforward, with friendly people helping out, although timing with vendors sometimes requires interactions to ensure it meets my needs. While the overall process was simple and courtesy was maintained, I'd expect slightly more promptness regarding timing issues. Despite this slight hitch, their follow-up and customer service have left me satisfied overall.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. It’s great to hear that our technician from Patrick Murphy Plumbing was able to quickly resolve the issue with your faucet. We appreciate your patience regarding the initial scheduling concern and are pleased that our American Home Shield customer service team was able to address it so effectively. Despite relying on AHS for nearly a decade with satisfactory results, my recent experience left me disappointed due to an issue with a technician from Axis Appliance. We had a burner issue on our stove, and the first technician seemed unable to remove bolts, leading him to drill into the appliance, which I found concerning. Unfortunately, the technician recorded that we neglected regular maintenance on the stove, which I disagreed with since the stove predated our ownership.
While American Home Shield has previously helped us with various appliance repairs like washers, dryers, ovens, and AC units without any issues, this encounter has made me reconsider their service—it's the contractors they're using that seem to cause hiccups now. Though we decided on newer appliances because of this, and while our satisfaction has dipped to about a 3 out of 5, I still believe the company itself generally provides adequate service.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, Gene. We understand that it can be upsetting when it is determined that a repair is not covered by your home warranty. According to our records, two different contractors diagnosed the issue with the appliance and it was determined that the failures did not fall within the coverage as outlined in the home warranty plan agreement.
If you have any additional questions, concerns, or if you may want to discuss your plan coverage further, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly at 1-800-776-4663, and we would be happy to speak with you.

During a recent issue with my appliance, I encountered two vastly different service calls from American Home Shield's contractors. The first technician from Atlas Appliance seemed disinterested in helping, quickly concluding that my washing machine wasn't worth fixing due to maintenance issues, including mold. He didn't make much of an effort beyond that conclusion and simply left after a short visit, which left me dissatisfied. Fortunately, I was able to schedule a second appointment with a different technician two days later. This time, the technician clearly knew his craft. He identified the issue as being a problem with the boot, due to noise and water leakage, and resolved it efficiently. It took him less than an hour to fix everything, and my washing machine has been functioning great since.
My overall takeaway from American Home Shield is that while some technicians are highly skilled, others might not be as diligent. This was similar to when I had pool issues – the first team didn't solve anything, but the second team successfully fixed everything. Because of this inconsistency, I'm rating them a 4 out of 5, but I'll continue using American Home Shield.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the mixed experiences you encountered during the service calls. It's reassuring to know that the second technician you worked with provided a solution and restored your washing machine to excellent working condition. When the contractor from Myers Comfort Specialist of Birmingham arrived, he was very professional and courteous. He diagnosed the issue quickly, the problem was with the capacitor, and resolved it efficiently. Since his visit, everything has been functioning well.
I've been with American Home Shield for about five and a half years. During this time, there were two service interactions that were fine, but this last experience with the delay was frustrating. My dishwasher was leaking water down into the basement. Initially, it was a challenging situation. I had multiple vendors attempt repairs, but none could resolve the issue. Each interaction was disappointing, and even at one point, a broken door was installed.
Eventually, Sears was involved, and they were fantastic. The technician named Bill identified the problem and took the necessary steps to fix it, although it involved ordering several parts and making multiple visits. Thanks to his diligence, American Home Shield agreed to replace the faulty unit, ensuring I got a model with all the desired features.
I faced some unexpected hurdles along the way. When American Home Shield decided to replace the dishwasher, the first model suggested lacked features that were important to me, so they readily telephoned me with a substitute matching my needs more closely. While I'm still awaiting its delivery, the process itself has restored my faith in their service.
However, I did encounter some frustration regarding communication—specifically when my rate increased from $75 to $89 without clear notification, which is a significant change. It was a surprising discovery made during my financial review for taxes. On the upside, I received meaningful guidance on issues concerning our oven when replaced.
Despite the initial chaos, the latter part of the process showed excellence in service, particularly with communication from the Sears team regarding scheduling and any necessary changes. Although I endured being without a working dishwasher for months, reactions at American Home Shield reflected an understanding of the issue's seriousness, ultimately committing to an effective solution. All factors considered, although there were rough patches that were distressing, things ended on an affirming note, highlighting the advantages of professional, accommodative service.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us—we are truly grateful for detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear that, despite initially facing several disappointments with your dishwasher, American Home Shield and the committed technicians from Sears managed to see the issue through to an eventual solution. We understand how crucial direct communication and transparent processes are.

When my washing machine broke down, I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield, who then assigned Exmore Repair Services to handle the repairs. Unfortunately, it took Exmore nearly a month to fix the washer, requiring three separate visits. Initially, they replaced a part which didn't work, causing further delays and forcing me to incur extra costs for laundry services elsewhere.
Communication during this ordeal was lacking. Though I reached out via email to American Home Shield, the responses were mainly from Exmore. I expected better service, especially given the long period I've been with them. This experience left me quite disappointed, as I believe the process should've been more efficient considering the high fees I pay. When my air conditioning system needed attention, the initial company recommended replacing the whole system, which seemed excessive. American Home Shield then sent out Ambient Air, who initially misunderstood the issue as merely needing a filter change. It wasn't until they inspected the attic that they identified the actual problem. The delay and misdiagnosis hinted at gaps in communication between American Home Shield and their contractors.
While I've had no issues with smaller appliance repairs, and they are generally prompt and efficient in those cases, the dealings with air conditioning repairs seem less satisfactory. A friend faced similar delays with his air conditioner and ended up canceling his service. On the one hand, the customer service aspect has been excellent. I've had no issues in that department and found them responsive and courteous whenever I reached out regarding my heating and cooling concerns.
However, a significant drawback has been the actual coverage provided by the plan. I often found myself having to pay out of pocket for services, which left me questioning the benefit of the coverage. A specific example is the cost of coolant, where I only received a minor discount on something that is quite expensive. In terms of service performance since then, I'd say it's been stable, no further hiccups. The only hiccup during my experience was the lack of disclosure regarding a service call fee of $125 — something I wish I'd known beforehand.

I currently have 4 houses under American Home Shield's coverage. I recently encountered an issue with my garage door, and Ace's Garage Door Repair, sent by American Home Shield, came out to address it. They determined that my old garage door opener from the 70s was beyond repair, though it had been a long-lasting workhorse for my family. Additionally, the spring of the door needed replacement due to the door's weight.
Ace technicians decided to replace the garage door opener and informed me that the spring replacement would not be covered by the home warranty. They handled both tasks promptly and efficiently, though they submitted the claim for the garage door opener only after starting the work instead of waiting for American Home Shield's authorization. This led to some miscommunication, but it was not the fault of American Home Shield, and the garage company probably tried to be expedited by handling everything simultaneously.
Over the years, my experience with American Home Shield has been mostly positive. Customer service has been reliable, with everyone being polite and the process smooth. Requests typically take a little while to be processed, but that's expected given the industry's nature. I appreciate the ease of using their online portal to set up service requests, which I often find to be both efficient and user-friendly.
The pricing for their service has gone up to about $100-$125 per house annually, which I find steep, although I can't fully judge its fairness from a business standpoint. Nevertheless, the peace of mind and coverage they offer make it worth it, even if I rate the price satisfaction at about a 3.5. Overall, despite a slight delay sometimes, I would recommend American Home Shield to family and friends as it had delivered on its promises for me.

His professionalism left such a good impression that I was tempted to keep him around!
This being my initial experience with a home warranty provider like American Home Shield, it was a learning curve for me. I didn’t know I could have also included my air conditioning in the coverage. Given the need for more cool air upstairs, adding my AC should have been a priority. These initial mistakes, namely not bundling services, were on me, but I’m glad for the education.

We had an issue with our heating system earlier this year, which required three different service repairs and a total of at least five visits before it was resolved. While this started off as a frustrating process, I was thoroughly impressed with the final technician from Comfort Pro Heating and Cooling who showcased great professionalism and expertise.
Submitting the claim was straightforward, despite having a recurring challenge with communication between my devices and the company's system. Phone calls remained the preferred method for me, given my constant travel and preference for immediate interaction.
Most of the time, dealing with American Home Shield is quite smooth. Although I'm accustomed to both old and modern communication devices, the transition to more automated systems has been manageable. Despite having some initial hiccups with the claim process, I find the coverage and pricing of American Home Shield reasonable, especially when considering the potential high costs of significant repairs, like new water heaters or air conditioning systems.

We have had Fast Response come out three times. The first time, there was a clog which they were able to address. However, the second visit revealed all our Freon had leaked out, requiring replacement along with a part needing to be changed.
Unfortunately, they didn't show us where the Freon was leaking but informed us that it was fixed. Even after the refill, the air was lukewarm instead of cold. On the third visit, they discovered a clogged dryer filter, but we're still waiting for the parts to arrive.
Throughout the summer, our house didn’t cool down, and the lowest we've seen on the thermostat was 79 degrees, only in the early hours. As it's an older system from 2011, it feels like we're just applying temporary fixes rather than a long-term solution.
I found their customer service to be very accommodating though, especially within a 30-day window, allowing us service visits without additional charges.
If I had to rate American Home Shield on different fronts: the overall service gets a 2 due to constant issues without resolution; customer service deserves a 5, thanks to their polite handling and response times; the ease of using their website for service requests also gets a 5. In terms of pricing, I'd give it a 3. Although we initially contact them online, additional fees when called within the warranty period make the overall cost questionable considering the incomplete effectiveness.
High service delays also concern me—the last service call resulted in a delay from Saturday to Friday the following week, leaving us uncomfortable in the heat. While they seem helpful, more technicians would improve response times drastically. We've even resorted to purchasing portable air conditioners and fans due to ineffective cooling in our home.
A major drawback is that typical home insurance doesn’t cover new systems, and American Home Shield offers just a portion of the cost, making long-term fixes seem unreachable unless the system breaks down completely.
Despite the challenges, I value their attempt at accommodating refunds for temporary fixes.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I'm glad to report that they effectively resolved the problems, and I haven’t faced any issues since. Initially, I contacted American Home Shield via phone. After navigating an automated system, I spoke with a representative who was understanding. I was pleased with the quick turnaround time, roughly two days, for having someone scheduled to fix the issues. Brick Street Plumbing also left the area as clean as they found it, which I appreciated. If asked, I would describe my experience with both American Home Shield and Brick Street Plumbing as highly satisfactory. The professionals they sent were top-notch, and I would definitely recommend trying them.

American Home Shield sent The One Man Gang Electrical Shop to address an issue with my cooling system. The technician spent the time required to clean both the outside and inside of the unit thoroughly, ensuring everything was in excellent working order before he left. I haven’t experienced any issues since. I typically set up service requests through American Home Shield's automated phone system. Although this usually works well, I did encounter a limitation when my washer and dryer broke down simultaneously. The system wouldn't allow me to schedule repairs for both at the same time due to the service fee for each call, so I prioritized fixing the washer. While I find the price for the service manageable, especially compared to out-of-pocket expenses, my budget has been tighter since going on a fixed income.
Thank you for your insightful and balanced review. We're pleased to hear about your success with The One Man Gang Electrical Shop and that your cooling system has been issue-free since. We understand that working within a fixed budget could present challenges, and we're continually looking for ways to optimize our service processes, including scheduling service requests efficiently. I've had American Home Shield's coverage since 2023, and it has been a beneficial investment. Not long ago, I encountered a situation where the Southern Air & Heat company visited to fix an issue; my air conditioning wasn't working, leaving the house hot during a particularly sweltering week. They identified the need for a chemical clean as the pressure couldn't be read, but thankfully no additional Freon was needed. American Home Shield approved the procedure quickly, ensuring my home climate returned to comfort.
I find their service exemplary; their responses are prompt, resolving my service needs efficiently without any nuisance, with the customer service being notably courteous. The ease of addressing claims makes the process hassle-free. If I set my air conditioning to a particular temperature, they ensure it maintains that level, providing a reliable service for temperature control in both downstairs and upstairs areas.
The cost is a reasonable trade-off for the comprehensive coverage I get, although the service call fee recently increased to $130 from $120, presumably due to inflation—understandable under current economic conditions. Though I appreciate its value, I'd rate the price aspect a little lower at 3.5, primarily due to these changes.
Overall, by choosing American Home Shield, I feel a significant stress relief by knowing that my home issues are solved efficiently and without complications. It's a service I would definitely recommend, though keeping an eye on the pricing would be wise.

While the appliance technicians were knowledgeable and provided satisfactory service, my experience wasn't entirely positive across the board. They said they showed up, but they never showed up based on the time that they said they would, so this is a bad experience.

My experience with American Home Shield was a mixed bag. I recently had an issue with my plumbing, so I called in H&K Plumbing through American Home Shield. They arrived and managed to repair the kitchen sink by fixing the problem under the pipe, which was a relief. However, when it came to my commercial shower, they were unable to address the issue, stating that they don't typically work on those. This left me with unresolved problems regarding the shower. I was informed I’d hear back from American Home Shield about this situation, but after just a few days from their visit, I'm still waiting for more information. Overall, I would rate my experience a 3, mainly because of the partial resolution to my problem.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, Romaine. I am sorry to hear that the additional plumbing issue was not resolved. Normally, the home warranty would not cover commercial-grade equipment. However, I would be happy to contact you to discuss the matter further.

I had past experiences with American Home Shield that were positive. However, our recent interaction left me slightly disappointed. We've been customers for about 20 years, and most service instances have been commendable. Nevertheless, this time around, we faced a problematic setup. When reporting a plumbing issue, an appliance repair tech was dispatched instead, creating unnecessary additional service calls. American Home Shield did rectify it by eventually sending the correct professional, a plumber, who was excellent.
The initial miscommunication, I suspect, may have stemmed from a language barrier during the original call. All in all, despite this hiccup, the majority of our dealings with American Home Shield have been great. Historically, their technicians are very professional, and this singular oversight hasn't dampened my confidence in them as a reliable service provider. So, I'd still recommend them based on our overall experience.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and being a loyal member for nearly 20 years. We apologize for the recent inconvenience regarding the initial miscommunication. It's truly effortless; even someone like me can figure it out without a hitch. The representatives always made sure I was informed, explaining things in layman's terms, which I appreciated immensely.
While most of the contractors they arranged were good, my experience with Comfort First Heating and Cooling LLC was quite frustrating. They did eventually solve my thermostat and sensor issues, but it took too long without adequate cooling, which was problematic given the extreme heat we were experiencing in North Carolina. Luckily, the relentless support from American Home Shield made a big difference. I signed up with American Home Shield about a year ago, but my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. From the start, their customer service has been awful. It feels like they're actively looking for ways to avoid adhering to their policies, which is frustrating.
When it comes to the technicians they send, I expected professionals. However, I've found that they seem more like general handymen rather than specialists. For example, if you need an electrician, you might get someone who can use a screwdriver but isn't a certified electrician. This has led to subpar quality work.
Moreover, the essence of having a warranty is to call them when there's a problem, and they should take care of it. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience. They send someone out who doesn’t fix the issue, and they don’t pay for it to get resolved either, leaving the problem unfixed while wasting time and money.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I believed American Home Shield's coverage might handle issues with my appliances effectively. Unfortunately, my experience didn't meet this expectation. When my ice maker broke, it took three technicians from American Home Shield before any real action was taken. The first two technicians attempted repairs that simply didn't solve the problem, and ultimately, it was not deemed fixable until Garrett’s Cleaning team arrived.
Despite being promised up to $2000 for repair or replacement of my appliance, the initial cash offer for my broken refrigerator was significantly below that amount. After weeks of persistently reaching out, filing reports with the Better Business Bureau, and communicating with multiple supervisors, American Home Shield agreed to increase their offer, but it was still a long and frustrating process. Communicating with them was challenging as well; there was no online option, and returning calls took a day each time. Because of these ongoing issues, coupled with unsatisfactory customer service experiences, my sentiment toward the service overall has been negative.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

American Home Shield seemed to offer a comprehensive solution. Initially, my experience was positive and over the last two years, they've provided reliable service. Unfortunately, this year has been an exception, especially with a claim related to my heating system.
My recent dealings with them regarding a furnace and heat pump issue have been awfully frustrating. When Metropolitan Site & Safety came out, the technician gave conflicting information, didn't communicate well, and continually directed me back to American Home Shield for updates. Despite reaching out consistently, I didn’t get a straight answer about the parts needed for the repair. Instead, I received an email stating my ticket was closed, claiming the repairs were complete, while that was far from true.
After more delays, the contractor admitted the parts weren't coming and needed payment. I reopened the ticket, yet the cycle began anew. Home Shield promised repairs after another month, subjecting me to additional costs, which was frustrating but inevitable at this point. As I’m still waiting for resolution, including compensation promises, the communication and service have fallen short this year.
Despite these recent struggles, for the past couple of years, I'd have no hesitation in giving American Home Shield a good rating for overall service. Their coverage was previously hassle-free, which makes this deviation even more unpleasant. I’d cautiously recommend them based on previous satisfaction, hoping my challenges were just an anomaly. My trust stands tested, hoping for the service quality I was accustomed to the previous years.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustrating experience you've encountered this year regarding your heating system claim. We greatly value your past positive interactions with American Home Shield and are concerned about the service inconsistency you’ve described. The difficulties experienced in obtaining clarity on your case is not representative of the level of service we strive to provide.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. Your ongoing trust despite these challenges is essential to us, and we'd like to restore your confidence. Please feel free to reach out directly should you require any further assistance.

I filed a claim online when I had a plumbing issue with a leak, and it was a straightforward process. Navigating American Home Shield's site was simple and user-friendly.
When Myers Comfort Specialist came out, the interaction with the technician was smooth; they were professional and straightforward. They ended up replacing the toilet tank line, and it has been functioning well, especially considering it's for my winter home where I haven't encountered any complaints.
I find the service to be reasonably priced, though timeliness in contractor responses could use some improvement. I remember waiting around a week and a half to hear back, which was not ideal. Despite that, American Home Shield has been quite reliable overall, having requested assistance a couple of times. In fact, I've just filed another request regarding roof leaks, so I'll be evaluating the process again soon.
To friends and family, I'd describe American Home Shield as a reliable company for the most part—essentially a service you can count on 9 times out of 10. This assessment is supported by the consistency I've seen in their customer service and coverage offerings.
Overall, based on my experience managing issues with my home, American Home Shield has lived up to the positive reputation I'd understood before signing up.

I would not recommend American Home Shield for a home warranty. My home was purchased over 4 years ago and at the time I elected to have a home warranty plan with American Home Shield. Over the past 4 years I've had 3 occasions to call for repairs. Two of the three requests were for minor plumbing issues (one in my bathroom and one in my laundry room). In both instances I paid the $100 service fee to have someone come out. They quoted me a price that did not seem reasonable, so I denied the service. In both cases I reached out directly to a plumber and it was fixed for just over what I paid for the American Home Shield service fee of $100 to do nothing. Both situations did not require the extensive work their contractors said needed to be done. The last situation had to do with my air conditioner that stopped working in 117 degree weather.
After 2 days I had a contractor come out who went on the roof, took pictures and said it would be a minimum of $1200 to repair. I denied this service and once again went directly to an air conditioning repairman who charged me $180 to fix my air. I don't know why I kept their coverage after my first 2 experiences, but I finally learned my lesson after the air conditioning situation. I cancelled my service and will be taking the money I was paying monthly and putting it into a slush fund for any future repairs which I think will be more beneficial.
Thank you for sharing your American Home Shield experience. We understand the concerns regarding previous service issues and hope you continue to enjoy AHS!

My water heater broke and American Home Shield swiftly handed my case to Poseidon Plumbing, who contacted me the following morning to schedule a visit. However, scheduling took around four to five days, longer than I preferred. Once Poseidon assessed the situation, they submitted their findings to American Home Shield.
Unfortunately, there were complications with my contact information—the email AHS had on file was incorrect, an issue I've attempted to rectify multiple times. This miscommunication led to me not receiving essential notifications, including details on an uncovered cost significantly higher than anticipated. I was disheartened to find that of an expected comprehensive coverage, I still had to pay $1,200 out-of-pocket.
Though Poseidon Plumbing was communicative and helpful, guiding me through their process and potential coverage options, the lack of transparency from American Home Shield was troubling. I felt there should have been clearer information on what expenses were covered. Customer service could have offered higher-tier coverage for better protection, which they didn't. Consequently, I considered canceling my plan, questioning the value of what I've returned for the premiums paid over the past few years.
While my experience with American Home Shield was generally unsatisfactory due to these billing and communication issues, Poseidon Plumbing earned a much higher rating for their diligence and transparency.

First of all they are complete liars. This warranty company is a scam. Absolute garbage. They said they cover such and such and send someone out for a minute and the service is denied. They wouldn’t even refund the service fee. Don’t get any of these home warranties.
Hello Teaba. Thank you for your feedback. I apologize that you found the warranty to not be of benefit to you. However, you may have a misconception regarding how home warranty plans work.
Warranty plans cover specific service situations and act to reduce repair costs. The caveats of coverage are 1) a technician's diagnosis indicates that the damage was caused by normal wear and tear and 2) these occurred under the circumstances indicated as covered in your warranty. Not every situation is covered, unfortunately. That is true with every form of warranty or insurance that you can purchase. If you had a situation in which you did not have coverage, then there was a specific reason for that authorization decision, and that reason and the contractual explanation was sent to you via email or communicated to you by a telephone agent.
If you would like our team to review the service request you are referring to, please send an email with the contract holder's name, the contract address, and the header "ATTN: Ken " to socialmedia@ahs.com. Also include a brief explanation of the service complaint that you have. Thank you.

The process felt convoluted, as though they were simply guessing without a strategy.
Seeking advice, I contacted two other HVAC companies who mentioned I could pursue legal action against Comfort Pros for their lack of professionalism. Policy coverage is a waste of money. The service people they send to “fix” the issue won’t completely fix anything and state that’s all they can do because AHS won’t allow them to completely cover it. I had 2 properties and only wanted to cancel 1. The customer service rep would not stop offering services to the point I finally asked her to cancel both policies because there was no way I’m going to deal with them anymore. They lost my service for both instead of just the 1 because of her. They need better training and they need to actually fix things they say they will in their contract.

Large stockpiles of this coolant are still available. When it is determined that an older system requires it, if it is available in that area, its use is authorized for repairs.
AHS will always attempt to repair before replacing an appliance or system. We will replace it if repair is impossible because parts are no longer available or if the repair is more expensive than replacement. This detail is clearly outlined in our contracts.
You mentioned a very specific service concern with an agent who needs additional training. I agree that this agent should not have continued to press or 'upsell' you on services when you requested to cancel one of your contracts. Please email our team at socialmedia@ahs.com. In the email, list your name, a brief explanation of what happened, and your contract address. Address your email as "ATTN: Ken". I will review the work order history and will reach out to ensure that this agent receives the needed training.
Thanks again for reaching out to us. I hope that in the future, you will again consider working with our warranty service.

There is no way to do it online and there is no phone number to call

DO NOT purchase insurance from this company (Save your money). They are a SCAM. First, let me tell you, my A/C broke on June 28, 2025, and till now, they have not done anything to resolve it. First, they say I have to wait until July 30, 2025, for them to fix it, but I will have to pay over $1200 towards it, or I will have to replace the unit, which they put NOTHING towards. They DO ABSOULUTELY NOTHING for the customer. All they do is give you the contractor's number and expect you to call and work out the details. They take forever to respond to you. THIS IS AN AWFUL COMPANY, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This is an update to the above review. I called and finally spoke to someone. I asked them, "Do you know how it feels to live in South Florida without AC?" The representative said, "I don't live in Florida, so I wouldn't know, and I should go to Home Depot and purchase a portable AC until the unit is fixed." Really???

The tech from All Brands Appliance Repair came out recently for my dryer. He did a very good job. A fusible link in there, in the dryer, made it quit working. So he had to fix it and was in and out in 25 minutes. The only thing I can complain about AHS is, every year, the price keeps going up. Other than that, they're a great warranty company. They've done jobs for me in both houses. I have two policies with them. The techs get out there pretty fast and fix things. Either they fix it or replace it. He came out there last month and put a water heater in. Luckily, he had one on the truck. In an hour, I had a new water heater.

I’ve been a customer of AHS for eight years. While the service was generally acceptable early on, my experience over the past couple of years has been increasingly disappointing. For example, two years ago, my HVAC system stopped working. It took over a week for a technician to become available. When he arrived, he opened the unit, briefly inspected it, and stated that it had been struck by lightning and would not be covered under warranty. Without further explanation, he left—without reassembling the system. I had assumed he was going to retrieve tools or paperwork, but he simply departed, leaving the unit disassembled.
In April, I decided to cancel my plan. Since the company’s website doesn’t clearly list a contact number, I used the online chat feature and was told my cancellation had been processed. However, in July I noticed I was still being billed. I then found the phone number through a web search and called directly. The representative confirmed there were notes about my earlier cancellation request, but claimed I was supposed to call back to confirm the date I wanted to cancel—something I was never instructed to do. I had requested cancellation on the day my plan renewed, so I asked for a refund for July. I was told, quite bluntly, that no refund would be issued. The representative then canceled my plan effective immediately, but I was still charged for July, despite no longer having an active membership.
Unfortunately, my experience reflects a broader pattern: customer service has significantly declined, and many of the contractors appear more focused on denying coverage than resolving issues. The fact that they don't allow Facebook reviews should be evidence enough to stay away.
Hello Kyle. Thank you for review. I apologize for the issues you encountered with the assigned technician and with your attempt to cancel.
The technician likely left the unit disassembled because it was no operational and to facilitate repair by the next technician who would arrive. However, I understand your frustration that you were not consulted before he made this decision. The tech should have asked you if this was an option that you agreed to before he left.
Your contract cancellation should have been dated to the first time that you requested it. If you will reach out to us, I will check your account notes for this.

When my washing machine needed repair, unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite challenging. The technician assigned by American Home Shield attempted to fix my washer, but during the process, they accidentally caused significant water damage. As they moved my dryer to access the valve, they pulled too hard, disconnecting the hose from the wall and causing water to flood multiple areas of my home, including the living and dining rooms, hall, and bedroom.
After calling both American Home Shield and the contractor for assistance, I found myself caught in a frustrating loop as both parties kept redirecting me to each other without offering a solution. To make matters worse, I was told by the contractor that the damage was due to a pre-existing leak, which was untrue. My floor was drenched with nearly three inches of water, and I found myself struggling to handle the situation on my own, especially since I’d just been discharged from the hospital.
Despite their prior record, this experience with American Home Shield's service left me thoroughly dissatisfied. The assigned technician neglected to take responsibility, and with both the company and the contractor refusing to help, I'm left to foot the bill for repairs.
Given these frustrations and the lack of accountability, I currently would rate my experience quite unfavorably. What was meant to be a simple appliance repair has caused significant stress and inconvenience, leaving me wary of choosing this service provider in the future.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I had a claim to American Home Shield to repair my washing machine. The technician arrived, installed a part, and claimed to test it. However, it wasn't long before I found water spilling all over my floor when I used it. When I contacted them again, the contractor returned, apologized, and mentioned the first part was faulty. He ordered another part and came back to install it earlier today, but I haven't been able to test it yet.
The technician was polite and scheduled the service within the promised timeframe, but I'm unsure about the quality of the parts they use. My rating of the experience would be a 3, as I expected a more seamless repair process given their expertise.
When it comes to American Home Shield's customer service and the warranty coverage, I would also rate them a 3. Although satisfied to some degree, there's room for improvement, particularly in ensuring lasting repairs. Regarding the cost, I've noticed there are cheaper alternatives available and I'm considering exploring those options.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the repair process, including receiving what appears to be a faulty part initially, resulting in the continued issue with your washing machine. We understand how frustrating it must be and appreciate your positive recognition of the technician's politeness and scheduling adherence. I was interested in American Home Shield's coverage for air conditioners. I found the service quite exceptional, particularly the installation team, who were thorough and efficient. They provided the best price for the air conditioner that I couldn't find elsewhere.
While this specific service was impressive, my experience with other appliances, like my dishwasher, has been mixed. Initially, I sought repairs for a dishwasher issue but was told later that it wasn't covered. This led me to question the value of the coverage for certain household appliances because, oftentimes, it seemed more cost-effective to buy new ones than resort to the insurance.
If asked by a friend, I would advise considering American Home Shield primarily for larger appliances like air conditioners, where their prices and service truly excel. For smaller appliances, however, direct replacement might be more practical.
Overall, the air conditioning service deserves high praise, but as my appliance needs are currently met with newer purchases, I might not renew the insurance after it's up. It's great if you want competitive pricing for air conditioners. In other cases, buying new could be smarter, considering the uncertainties about coverage for repairs.
Thank you for taking the time to give us a review so that we can better serve our customers.
I apologize AHS did not meet your expectations on the dishwasher; however, I did take a look at that work order, and saw there was an issue, with some wires cut, chewed, or otherwise damaged, that was not normal wear and tear. I am so sorry. AHS covers normal wear and tear issues of covered items.
I am so glad you were pleased with the HVAC coverage.
Thank you so much.

I had numerous issues with my AC unit and despite having two different companies sent by American Home Shield, nothing was resolved properly.
The first company, Heat and Cool Care, tried to charge me for Freon without even testing the unit, and their diagnosis left much to be desired. The technician claimed to have fixed the issue without verifying it, and later insisted that unnecessary additions like a P-trap, which isn’t even code for my system, were needed.
The second opinion was no better. It was just as fruitless and I was quoted an astronomical $1,485 for repairs that the new contractor I eventually hired charged $725, including genuine requirements like the rusted drain pan and a safety switch.
American Home Shield's handling was frustrating as it didn’t improve matters initially; they sided with the contractors and ignored pressing issues unless I escalated to the executive team. It became apparent to me that contractors they work with typically have poor ratings, underpinned by the fact that skilled companies aren’t being accepted into their network.
This experience isn’t unique unfortunately. When dealing with other appliance repairs, the process would often involve several visits without resolution until I reached out to their executive branch. This should be addressed as most clients likely don’t have the means or knowledge to insist on proper service in this way.
To conclude, while eventually I do manage to get issues sorted, the unnecessary hoops and costs endured along the way diminish the overall effectiveness of their service. Should American Home Shield consider employing contractors with higher qualifications, perhaps the workflow would get smoother and more efficient for their clientele. My overall sentiment concerning them is quite dissatisfied, maintaining that significant change is needed, especially from their customer service side.
Hello Steven. Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the problems that you encountered with your recent service request.

I paid for three years and had a claim on a toilet that broke (ceramic). It needed to be replaced. AHS denied the claim under clause "7K.... Breakdowns that occur due to abuse, misuse, hacking, or vandalism." AHS said 'cracks are not normal wear and tear as it is made solid' and by sitting (my 160 lb son) my 22 year old cheap toilet that qualified as 'misuse' and is therefore my claim is denied. How is sitting on a toilet 'misuse?' I asked the supervisor what the expected age life of a toilet is, he did not have an answer, only that they shouldn't ever fail. The plumber said they deny 99% of toilet claims.
AHS website said there was 'a detailed diagnostic report' for me to review but there was not one for me to read. I asked them to email it to me, they refused. Repair decisions over ~$200-250 are made by the AHS department not the contractor. Clause 7k appears to be a catch-all for them to deny any claim since it is subjective. My understanding is that in California the burden of proof is on the company not the consumer. My only recourse is to take them to arbitration, file a claim with the State of CA and BBB, and to warn others on social media. AHS has one of the lowest ratings on this website; I only wish I had seen this list before I signed up.
Hello Brian. Thank you for your review. I was able to locate your service request and review it.
According to the initial diagnosis of the first technician that we assigned, the failure of the unit occurred due to reasons other than normal wear and tear. At your request, we did dispatch a second vendor who also made the independent assessment that the unit failed due to causes other than normal wear and tear.
Please understand that not every system failure will be for a covered cause. Our contracts detail what will and will not be covered. We do request that our technicians provide detailed documentation to verify assessments that result in a denial of coverage.
As for the rating that AHS has on the BBB website, we are currently rated a "B." That is far from being one of the lowest ratings on this website. We respond to and review our customers feedback because we strive to provide excellent service.

My experience began by reaching out to American Home Shield over an issue with my AC. Prior to contacting them, a friend who knew an AC technician did a courtesy check and pointed out that there might be an issue with the blower motor. After informing American Home Shield of the situation, they promptly set up an appointment. What stood out was that the technician who initially assessed the issue was the same one who returned to replace the blower motor. It was seamless—no re-explanation needed, just a straightforward repair.
An aspect worth mentioning is the quality of customer service. Despite a minor language barrier with the representative I spoke to, she made a commendable effort to communicate clearly. In terms of costs, I paid a one-time fee of $125 when the problem was addressed, but haven't had enough experiences to judge consistency across various repair needs. Generally, I found their service commendable and would recommend them, contingent on future encounters reaffirming this initial positive experience.

When my air conditioner's capacitor malfunctioned, the contractor from All South Air System LLC swiftly replaced it the same day they visited. We loved American Home Shield until they assigned Sears to fix our dryer. I put in a request for a broken dryer and they assigned Sears to fix it. Sears first cancelled, then no showed, then finally came we were so excited but they had to order parts, 2 weeks later they showed back up and said they ordered the wrong parts. The tech said he was stepping outside and drove off in the middle of appt. I received a text saying they had to research and see if the parts still existed. I’ve called and called AHS repetitively and all they say is well sears is assigned we have to ride it out pretty much. Now here we are with an appt for sears 2 months from initial request no dryer and praying the parts they just ordered works. I guess we will see in two more weeks. AHS should not let a company just fool around this long. Someone should have done something else by now but here we are.

The service has been very helpful as things do break down often and can be expensive to repair. My most recent experience was with a refrigerator repair, where initially both the fridge and freezer stopped working properly. I had to file a claim, and Blue Collar Appliance and Repair came out for the fix. Unfortunately, it didn’t work after about a week and a half, so I had to file another claim. They came out again, and I’m hoping all is well now because it's currently working great.
Filing a claim with American Home Shield was quite straightforward. You just select what's wrong and provide some details, then pay a fee, and they arrange for a service provider to contact you. The latest contractor, Blue Collar, was really good compared to others I've dealt with. Customer service has usually been quick to respond, although the long repair duration, especially for essential appliances like the refrigerator, can be quite inconvenient. It broke in May and was only fully resolved like a couple of weeks ago.
If a friend asked about it, I'd note that while they respond promptly, the service gets pricier each year, and the monthly cost tends to rise. That said, the service fees per call are reasonable. It's a trade-off with the understanding that ensuring prolonged service may become prohibitively expensive. Overall, I would rate the experience highly, though with the caveat about rising prices and potentially long wait times for parts and repairs.

When our heat pump stopped cooling, I called American Home Shield and they arranged for a contractor to diagnose the issue. The contractor, HRS Heating and Cooling, did an excellent job; I have no complaints about their service. Once they identified the problem, they communicated with American Home Shield, who approved the necessary repairs. However, the entire process took around four weeks, which was frustrating as we waited for American Home Shield to supply a new heat pump. They did offer an additional furnace due to its age, which was appreciated.
In the past, I've had mixed experiences with them. Two years ago, we had a heat pump installed by contractors they recommended, which was improperly set up, leading to its early failure. Their customer service can be a bit challenging, especially when dealing with scripted responses, but overall, I'd give it a 4. The coverage has been satisfactory, and for the price, I'd rate it as a 5. As for their online tools, I'd say they are decent, deserving a 4, but that might be more about my comfort with websites as I'm a bit older.

Having been with American Home Shield since around 2021, my experience with their service has had its ups and downs. One notable instance involved a claim for my garbage disposal, which was under warranty by the manufacturer for 10 years. When a technician came out to assess the issue – a simple wear and tear problem detected by a faulty screw – I was asked to provide a receipt from the original purchase.
This turned into quite the hassle since I had purchased the item through a plumber, and thus didn't have the original receipt. Despite furnishing the plumber's receipt when I acquired the item, I couldn't obtain the necessary documentation because I had no idea where the plumber sourced it – be it Costco, Walmart, or another store. American Home Shield contacted me, stating the item wasn’t covered since I couldn't produce a retail receipt, suggesting I'd need to pay $235 for repairs, despite the manufacturer's warranty.
The issue with American Home Shield was compounded by unclear communication and unexplained costs appearing during service requests. Though these conditions were likely outlined in the initial contract, it's unrealistic to expect consumers like myself to remember every clause years later. This confusion left me with unexpected charges for what I assumed was already covered under warranty, pointing to a necessity for clearer communication on what costs may arise when repairs are requested.
In the end, I reached out to the manufacturer who agreed to handle the issue under the warranty, and I arranged with the original plumber for a no-cost installation once the new device arrives. Although the customer service has been generally fine, scoring it at a "3 plus" out of preference indicates room for improvement. It's a lesson on ensuring consumers are well-informed about their contracts at the time of a claim, enabling smoother experiences. Despite these challenges, I hope my feedback serves as constructive input towards improving American Home Shield’s communication processes and service delivery.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

Updated on 08/13/2025: Been going back and forth with Mariah for nearly 4 weeks. I’ve been offered $400, which I reluctantly agreed to despite it covering less than 50% of only one out of pocket expense I incurred over AHS’s 3 week delay of service to repair my AC compressor in Las Vegas summer of over 100 degree heat.
Even after agreeing upon $400, they offered it in a way that I can’t obtain it. Mariah sent the offer through my app, which I can see, but not click on. She and the department she sent me to for resolution said this happens often, and the process would then be she would accept the money for me and I would wait for a paper check 21-30 days. It feels like a never ending cycle of either scams or dysfunction. They haven’t seen their way through a single process, of their own creation, correctly, or timely.
Original Review: I spend $55/month and a $100 service fee. Never use it, think of it as a safety net for big problems. Finally happened when AC gave out, what a disappointment. They sent an HVAC company quickly and they diagnosed a $4000 job due to it being the compressor. AHS will only cover the compressor, not the coolant. So already $1600 out of pocket for me. Then the real problem- it took 3 weeks to get the compressor.
I spent thousands on portable AC’s keeping the pets alive in a room, and then renting an RV when the hospitality of neighbors ran out keeping my kids and family. (We live in Las Vegas where temps are over 100 degrees in the summer). None of this is reimbursable. I called AHS many times asking for resolutions, the only option was to start with a new HVAC company but would not change their process of acquiring the compressor. One AHS representative said she’d reimburse my $100 service fee and send cash out options within 48 hours, she didn’t. Her name was Raven.
I hired a private HVAC contractor for $85 to diagnose, he said the compressors were readily available in town, but warranty companies source from discount distributors and ship at snail speed so we don’t use them in these expensive emergencies and we end up paying out of pocket out of desperation. Warranties are a scam when you need them, so are the contractors that are willing to work with them.

My recent dealings with American Home Shield have been disappointing, especially concerning their plumbing repair services.
I've been a customer for about 10 years, covering several properties, but the service quality seems to have declined, leading me to rethink my options. Notably, the contractors associated with American Home Shield sometimes display a lack of responsiveness as if they prioritize their private clients over those related to AHS.
It's puzzling to me why the distinction is made by the contractors between American Home Shield customers and others from the start. It often feels like they consider our needs secondary, perhaps due to financially incentivized contracts. Despite respecting my financial commitment, the consistent rise in costs doesn't align with the dwindling quality of service received.
On a separate note, I find there's a significant language barrier with customer service supervisors located overseas, hindering effective communication and the escalation process. Previous attempts to escalate concerns were practically futile, requiring me to assert my history and influence as a real estate broker before action was taken. Even then, the escalation offered no real resolution, which was incredibly frustrating.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

When I had an issue with our upstairs air conditioner, I submitted a claim online, which was straightforward. However, calling customer service turned out to be a frustrating experience. The representative I spoke with didn't seem proficient in English, kept putting us on hold, and struggled to connect with the necessary department. It felt like they were stringing us along, which was disappointing.
On the other hand, the contractors who visited were very professional. My husband interacted with them as I wasn't home when they arrived, and he mentioned they were communicative and explained the repair process clearly. They needed to replace a coil, which has resolved the issue, and the air conditioner has been working fine since.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has its ups and downs. While the customer service needs improvement, the repair service was satisfactory. I'd give them a rating of about 3 out of 5 for their services based on this incident.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your experience with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties you encountered regarding our customer service, especially when contacting by phone. Your experience should always be efficient and frustration-free. We are glad, however, to hear that the repair process itself was handled professionally, and that the issue with your air conditioner was resolved successfully.

I reached out to American Home Shield with a service request for plumbing issues—specifically a problematic sink in the master bedroom and a kitchen disposal that needed attention. Initial interactions used to be more straightforward, but this time, my contact experience differed greatly. I had to wait for quite a while to be connected, cycling through various call centers from different locations like Trinidad, Guyana, and the Philippines, all before getting a resolution. It was frustrating, especially since the wait times were around 45 minutes each call, which was far from my prior experience where requests were attended to quickly by an American representative.
I was assigned to a plumbing service I had reservations about due to prior experiences. It took multiple calls on my part to request a change to In Control Plumbing, the preferred contractor. In Control stepped up—handling the repair professionally, although they had to visit twice due to miscommunications between them and American Home Shield regarding the scope of the work, which wasn’t their fault.
The technician from In Control was friendly, efficient, and ensured that the issues were thoroughly resolved in all subsequent visits. However, the delays and miscommunications can be attributed entirely to American Home Shield’s coordination—or lack thereof.
Expressing my frustrations to customer service about consistently delayed responses and their uncooperative stance on choosing preferred vendors didn’t yield a receptive resolution. I was dissatisfied with how American Home Shield addressed my requests, especially since I've been a loyal customer for nearly 30 years.
I won't hold anything against In Control Plumbing, as they delivered great service despite the initial setbacks with American Home Shield. However, the aggravating lengthy wait times and lack of decisive customer support on American Home Shield’s part left a sour taste in the overall experience.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

When my washing machine, which couldn't even be repaired, was evaluated, I was offered only $300. This didn't meet my expectations, especially after paying premiums over the years. I felt the compensation for my washing machine was inadequate, considering the investment I've made into the service.
Though I have a long-standing relationship with American Home Shield, this experience with their claims process was underwhelming. I'll be seeking to discuss my payment further. Overall, my experience averaged out to a solid three - it’s been a mixed bag of interactions with the service.

When my AC started malfunctioning, an HP repair technician arrived, declaring my system as outdated without taking any corrective action. They directed me to a link, suggesting it was from American Home Shield, although the name wasn't displayed on it.
This caused confusion since normally American Home Shield contacts customers with detailed options after a report_submission, but that process seemed to be skipped. After following up, I realized that American Home Shield was more focused on the original report from the technician rather than my request for a different evaluation. The requested second technician—important for verifying conflicting assessments—was delayed leading me to feel there was a conflict of interest as if the technician was perhaps steering me toward a particular solution that wasn't covered or suggested replacing it on my dollar.
This hesitation in addressing customer concerns resulted in unnecessary frustration, compounded by past instances where the service call felt redundant. Although I appreciate there were no inappropriate offers from technicians, my experience illuminates consistent lapses in acquiring genuinely consistent assurance from American Home Shield. If I were to offer advice to potential customers or my own network, it would be to critically assess whether the coverage meets their needs—my two-star rating is reflective of both sporadic reliability and value for investment given my repeated service call challenges without actionable resolution.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

The technician from Electrolux who visited was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. He efficiently identified and fixed the main problem, which was the fridge freezing over and leaking, and proactively discovered another major fault. To resolve the additional issue, new parts had to be ordered, necessitating a follow-up visit. This process was handled promptly and professionally, and I was very satisfied with the service. Should a friend or family member ask about my experience with American Home Shield, I’d confidently convey that I've encountered no significant issues so far. I had my AC checked out by Delta T Heating and Air Conditioning through my American Home Shield warranty. From my perspective, I've always found Delta to be reliable. When they came out for the AC issue, which might have been a capacitor problem, they sent the same technician who always does a quick and efficient job. I can trust him completely, entrusting my home's care to him while I carry on with my day upstairs. It's a relief to have a technician who's both friendly and efficient.
With American Home Shield, I've had a similarly positive experience. They provide peace of mind knowing that appliance issues will either be fixed or the appliance replaced without a hassle. I always recommend them to people who want worry-free home repairs, telling them it's a smart solution to avoid unexpected expenses. In fact, I've covered both my current and another property with their services.
Overall, I feel excellent recommending American Home Shield and Delta T's service to others for reliable and trustworthy home repairs.

I liked American Home Shield's reputation for dispatching service quickly when something goes wrong. I've been a customer for quite a few years now, but the rising prices have become a concern for me. Especially since the cost now feels comparable to my homeowner's insurance, which are significant expenses. I've reached out in the past to adjust my policy, as a friend in Georgia has a similar policy for much less, but changes seem to need to wait until the renewal period.
Initially, the process to report an issue with my oven was seamless, and I found no issues with communication or professionalism during the service call. However, I did feel let down when it came to resolution. The parts needed weren't available anymore, so American Home Shield opted for a payout capped at my policy limit. This meant I would have to find an oven myself within that cap and also cover installation costs, which was disappointing and felt like a personal loss considering I'm still out the deductible.
While I find the customer service team to be admirable, easily earning a high mark at a five, the policy itself feels limiting. I've reviewed my coverage and noticed it's not aligned to my property—several items are listed that I don't even own. Due to the mix of these factors, I find myself less inclined to wholeheartedly recommend American Home Shield to others. Though they are responsive, the practical value doesn't meet my expectations, and the financial aspects tend to outweigh the service advantages.
Thank you for being a valued American Home Shield customer and for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences. We are glad to hear that you've found our service process seamless and appreciate the professionalism of our customer service team.

American Home Shield's comprehensive offering seemed to be a great fit for handling home issues as they arise. Despite this, my recent experience wasn't without its drawbacks. I filed a claim for a blocked drain through the American Home Shield website, which was fairly straightforward—I'd rate it a solid 7 out of 10 for ease.
Once the request was processed, a contractor called John Hudgins Plumbing did reach out, though it took about a week to get everything sorted, which is a bit longer than I'd have preferred. The service itself was decent; the team that came was friendly and managed to fix the problem without much fuss. However, I can't fully gauge their capabilities since it was a relatively simple job.
When it comes to American Home Shield's service, the consistency is hit or miss. While the efficiency of their online tools is commendable and pivotal in scheduling services, reaching out via phone can be a bit of a hassle—it's a process I'd avoid if possible. As for the quality of ongoing covered services, I have generally found them reliable. Coverage seems quite adequate as we've rarely encountered issues in getting claims approved, but turnaround time could certainly improve.
In terms of the service, I often find myself advising others to consider direct savings instead of relying on third-party coverage, especially if the home is quite new and less prone to issues. However, my spouse remains keen on keeping our plan, which is why we're still subscribed.
Customer service interactions were positive—I'd give them a 4 as they're consistently polite and helpful, but again, the time taken for resolutions diminishes the overall experience for me. Overall, while American Home Shield is adequate for what they promise, there's room for optimization, mainly in service speed and resolution methods.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

Initially, I submitted a claim through American Home Shield's website because calling typically involves long waits. The website was easy to use, so that part was seamless. My issue was with the AC unit; it stopped working, and the fan wouldn't function. I was initially informed that the repairs would take 3 to 5 days. When the contractors called to inform me about an additional $300 for Freon, I was perplexed. The contractor was quite rude and not very helpful in explaining the extra charge.
After consulting with American Home Shield and others, I reluctantly agreed to the fee. Despite paying, nothing happened for several days, and I had to call them multiple times to get things moving. Eventually, they requested an extra $100, which I contested but ended up paying to ensure my tenants wouldn't suffer in the heat. The contractors promptly scheduled and finished the repair the next day, but the entire process was fraught with poor communication and unprofessional behavior. AHS's customer service threw some positive light — a representative I spoke with was pleasant and seemed eager to help. Nevertheless, promised callbacks never happened, leaving me dissatisfied.

While American Home Shield's customer service team is often kind and helpful, I've encountered issues, especially with plumbing services. I called for plumbers to fix a leak and they made it leak again. I found the technicians pleasant but lacking in effectiveness, as they seemed to create more problems than they solved. On the brighter side, my most recent claim involving a dryer repair went smoothly, and the technician did an excellent job. The one before the leak was in a couple of days. He said, “It needs building codes as the water pours down out of the attic.” However, the recurring plumbing issues have been quite disappointing.

My air conditioner needed service multiple times, and American Home Shield initially sent a heating and air company, Beaches. Each interaction was frustrating. It seemed whenever there was an issue, the technician would attribute the problem elsewhere – like claiming a power surge to avoid covering the issue, which wasn’t accurate and I had to resolve. Additionally, they misdiagnosed the issue multiple times and lacked the necessary diagnostic tools on the job.
Ultimately, after these exhausting experiences, I insisted they send Remy instead, and it's been a night-and-day difference. Remy was efficient, arrived prepared, and identified and repaired the issues promptly, even during a sweltering heatwave when time was of the essence. They have consistently resolved problems effectively and saved the day for me.
Should a friend or family member consider American Home Shield, I would recommend the service with cautionary advice about ensuring the right service providers are used, avoiding Beaches specifically based on my experience. I've otherwise found American Home Shield's customer service straightforward and reliable. Their online service is seamless for setting up requests, which I appreciated. While their pricing isn't the cheapest, it's reasonable for what is covered.
Moving going forward, I know I’ll be more discerning about the service partner dispatched, implementing my preference for Remy when it comes to HVAC issues.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.

I've had mixed experiences with American Home Shield. On the one hand, the technician who comes out to make repairs is always thorough and diligent. It's unfortunate that his visits are sometimes delayed due to poor communication on the office's part. There have been instances where I've arranged my entire day around a service visit, only to find out later that it was rescheduled without notice.
Switching over to American Home Shield from HSA took me by surprise, primarily because the only notification I received was a hike in my monthly rate. I was initially paying $45 a month under HSA, a relationship spanning over 30 years. However, during my time handling a personal health issue and other family matters, I didn't notice the American Home Shield takeover or the increased billing. It was only later when I went to review my finances that I discovered the significant increase, which came as quite a shock. In reaction to my frustration, they did roll back the rates, albeit temporarily.
While there are areas for improvement, like the sudden price hike and some lapses in their coverage, I can't say I'm wholly dissatisfied. In situations where I've faced urgent scenarios, the company has intervened appropriately. For instance, they managed a claim during a considerable storm event fairly well considering the disruption at that time. Although there are scripted conversations over the phone, when things escalate, they do handle them with good support, both from those at the company and the manufacturer's service team they send to my home.
Despite changes in coverage since joining American Home Shield and certain communication hiccups, I mostly rate them positively. I've only encountered communication struggles with phone representatives a handful of times. In areas like fixing flood damage, they served crucial service despite widespread chaos.
People who often visit the house to repair are helpful and straightforward, translating technical language into what I can understand about my home's maintenance issues. Even though I deal with problems like faulty circuits, they attempt to make the complications understandable.
All in all, although I'm exploring possibly more affordable alternatives that meet my retired budget, my ongoing experience with American Home Shield's services and technicians has been fundamentally good when I’ve required their assistance.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.

It's been six weeks since I initiated a service request, and the AC remains unfixed. I've had to deal with multiple representatives from American Home Shield, and each interaction brought inconsistent information—ranging from a lost diagnosis to misplaced approval statuses. On top of that, the company they sent, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas, failed to show up multiple times and misdiagnosed the problem initially, resulting in faulty repairs. In desperation, I purchased portable air conditioners out of pocket as temporary solutions, given the unbearable heat indoors. This experience hasn't been an isolated incident, as previous interactions with American Home Shield had similar delays and miscommunications.
One recurring issue is the significant lag in scheduling repairs, which is critical for services like AC repairs. Another concern is questionable extra charges from contractors. I've encountered unnecessary and unauthorized costs, such as supposed permits and additional components that were not needed. American Home Shield doesn't appear to monitor these charges, leaving the burden on the customer to scrutinize them.
Additionally, I've faced communication challenges with their offshore call centers. They seem more focused on securing high customer service ratings than solving the actual issues. Some agents have given misleading information, further complicating the situation. Overall, I'm frustrated with the lack of timely service and inadequate solutions. Despite paying extra fees for diagnosis visits, the initial service was incomplete. Even when requesting follow-up service, I was asked to pay again.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I had a noticeably disappointing experience with American Home Shield. I submitted a claim expecting prompt service. However, it took around five days without any response until I made another call. Eventually, the technician, Steve from Quality Appliance Repair, reached out on a Sunday evening, notifying me that he would arrive at 8 a.m. the next day. This abrupt scheduling was quite inconvenient, given the short notice.
The reason for the call was an issue with my stove, where an orange flame was instead of a blue one. Concerned about the potential toxicity, I did some online research which suggested it could be dangerous. I also needed them to inspect my range hood. Once Steve arrived, he turned on the stove, only to say I should contact my propane company. Regarding the range hood, he mentioned a claim would be submitted, hinting it would probably get replaced.
Notably, my dissatisfaction is compounded by previous experiences with American Home Shield. I faced similar frustration when I needed a plumber, ultimately requiring me to find and pay for one myself because the company couldn’t provide one locally. Despite taking my money, they did not have the necessary coverage in my area, which was misleading and frustrating. Furthermore, communication has been a major issue, as language barriers made it nearly impossible to have a productive conversation with their customer service. I intend never to purchase another plan with them again, given the various points of inconvenience and poor service I endured.
To anyone considering a plan, my advice would be to consider alternative providers. The difficulty in communication and inefficient service makes it not worthwhile. Customer service, coverage, and online tools barely met my standards, ranging between affordability and vague service satisfaction. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been far from satisfactory.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

Unfortunately, recent experiences have left me increasingly dissatisfied. In my twenty-something-year relationship with American Home Shield, the customer service has declined significantly, with contradictory information every time I call. Promises of call-backs and resolutions remain unfulfilled, diminishing the reliability I once appreciated.
The technicians dispatched by American Home Shield also present a mixed bag in terms of consistency. A recent, particularly frustrating experience involved a month-long issue with my washing machine. Multiple dispatches from different technicians failed to address the problem, ultimately resulting in a reimbursement offer. However, even that process featured confusing communication, generating unnecessary hassle and delays.
It seems that there is a disconnect between what American Home Shield communicates and the actions taken by their technicians. If they could align their internal communications and follow through on the promises made to customers, the experience would be significantly better.
Reflecting on my current experiences, I would rate my satisfaction quite low, around a 2 out of 5.

I reported that my air conditioner wasn't cooling, and the claim submission process with American Home Shield was straightforward and user-friendly. They promptly sent Air Design AC & Heating for the repair.
However, my experience with the contractor left much to be desired. The technician inspected my system using an unconventional approach, quickly "fixed" the issue by replacing some corroded caps, and said that I required additional Freon, leading to extra costs. Furthermore, the technician's method of accepting payment made me uncomfortable, as he tried conducting the transaction in a language I didn't understand.
The situation worsened when, the next day, my upstairs unit stopped working. Granted, it might be coincidental, but it felt suspicious. I contacted American Home Shield again and requested a different company. The dispatched Sears to repair my Refrigerator not cooling. The appointment was set up for June 13th, 2025. Sears gave an 8 hour time window which is crazy. They waited until 5:01pm to send an AI text message from Richard, canceling the appointment. They rescheduled it for Monday June 16th. Same block. 8-5pm. On Monday I got another text message from Ai Richard. Saying due to unforeseen circumstances they needed to reschedule yet again. I called AHS to request they send out another contractor. They refused to send anyone else other than Sears. So, with my hands tied I agreed.
Finally, they sent a sears repair man named Wayne D. Sears tech gets to my house at 5:01pm. Take a look at the appliance and tells my wife he knows what's wrong with it but they couldn't repair it because the parts are no longer made. He took pictures of the front back, side and freezer as well as the fridge side. He told my wife he was going to submit his report to AHS and they would contact us with next steps. We never got a call, so I called AHS they told me sears only closed out the ticket saying no services needed.
It's now going on 4 weeks with still no resolution because Sears has never kept any of the follow up appointments, they keep forcing on us in order to decide next steps. I've even escalated to an escalation team at AHS which has done nothing except call daily to tell me they are waiting to talk to sears, but they keep getting VM or Sears AI. Today Sears canceled yet another appointment, and AHS keeps refusing to send out another contractor. I'm at a lost and don't know what to do next.

On June 19, 2025, I opened a work order with American Home Shield for my malfunctioning air conditioning unit. Despite multiple service visits, 20 days later we still have no working A/C. Two technicians from Efficient Air independently assessed the unit and recommended replacement. We even hired an outside company for a second opinion, and they reached the same conclusion. Yet, no action has been taken to replace the unit.
Adding to the confusion and concern, the second technician is now suggesting a "temporary fix" even though they explicitly told us in person that the unit NEEDED to be replaced. According to them, the proposed fix would be significantly more expensive and only expected to last about 30 days. The ongoing delay has deeply affected my family's well-being. I have three young children. The extreme summer heat in Arizona poses very real health risks without a working A/C. The lack of urgency and coordination on American Home Shield's end has left us feeling neglected and disrespected. There was water leaking from my kitchen ceiling right above the sink. When submitting a claim, I discovered that the process of getting it addressed was anything but simple. American Home Shield dispatched Melton Plumbing; however, their response failed to solve the problem. Instead of addressing the leakage's origin, they incorrectly assessed my garbage disposal as suffering from "insufficient maintenance," something quite uncommon according to other plumbing companies I consulted. The situation worsened when, instead of fixing the leak, Melton Plumbing mishandled the process, leaving an open sewer connection in my bathroom, which resulted in an unbearable odor. Despite round-the-clock calls to American Home Shield, I was faced with a policy stating they don’t authorize repairs associated with accessing the source of leaks.
I kept on calling them every day, two times a day, and I told them that I wanted a second opinion. D&P Plumbing was assigned to us and they called us back saying that American Home Shield wouldn't authorize the repair because the flange was bad. D&P's rep said that he called American Home Shield, told them that that toilet had to be pried up to fix the issue, and that the flange was not bad. There was no toilet sitting there and there was a leak still going on. So how could the flange be bad if there was nothing there but a big old gaping hole? American Home Shield still kept on playing around for another four days, then finally, Melton called me and asked if I was going to be available that morning because they were coming out here. They said they've got the authorization to fix the toilet.
So that was how they resolved the issue. The process took a significant amount of my time and left us with constant inconveniences for close to two weeks without a functional system. It was exhausting and frustrating dealing with American Home Shield and the suppliers like Melton they cooperated with. Customers should rethink their options before selecting American Home Shield. What should have been a straightforward claim emphasized deficiencies in their operations and left me telling friends and family to consider alternatives for home warranty services.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

We had an airflow issue where rooms in our home had drastic temperature variations, and parts of the house weren't aligning properly due to a baffle system issue. Heritage Air & Heat came out to address the issue, but their involvement was brief. On their first visit, they were present for about 10 minutes only to power on a switch, which seemed insufficient considering the complexity of the problem.
The solution was only temporary, as my infant daughter's room—where temperatures could plummet as low as 65 degrees overnight—did not improve consistently. When Heritage returned for a second visit, they didn't even enter the house but claimed a new part was necessary. This diagnosis struck us as odd since American Home Shield wouldn't even cover the part, leaving us with an additional $550 expense. Furthermore, when another contractor—sent by American Home Shield—stepped in, they quoted an exorbitant price for the repairs, which we simply couldn't afford. Given the annual premium we pay alongside a fee for each visiting contractor, we questioned the service's worth, feeling that, ultimately, we bore much of the cost that Home Shield should have covered.
While American Home Shield has the advantage of not having to search for contractors or repair services when issues arise, it's paradoxically expensive, and the coverage seems insufficient unless dealing with minor issues. Although customer service ranks average, paying the hefty premium without substantial benefit makes me question our subscription. Overall, the service falls short of our expectations, making it hard to justify the price considering we face costs comparably high even with their supposed coverage.
Hello Jacey. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us with your service request feedback. I apologize for the frustration you've experienced with the recent service call.
I was able to locate your service request using the information in your review. In reading the notes, I see that the amount you listed as an out-of-pocket charge was a result of the fact that the tech's diagnosis indicated that a design issue with the dampers was the source of the problem. Per the agreement, service issues which are the result of design issues (and thus are not 'failures' of the system ) are not covered.
I also see that you accepted the option to have a second opinion conducted. In this case, a different vendor will come to the home to re-diagnose the cause of the problems. If their diagnosis differs with the original diagnosis, they will be assigned to address the service issue.
Please reach out to our team via socialmedia@ahs.com if you have additional questions or concerns about this work order. When you do, please place the contract holder's name, the account address or contract number, and "ATTN: Ken" in your header.

When I encountered an issue where one of the fans in the furnace was not turning on with the AC turned on, leading to no air circulation going around the house, I utilized American Home Shield's service. The experience was straightforward and efficient.
The claims process was seamless, using their app to schedule the service, and things were sorted out the next day after I filed the claim. Continental Air Conditioning and Heating, the assigned company, sent out a technician who was very professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it without any delays. Since utilizing the service, everything with the AC has been running perfectly, and I've had no further issues.

I've had American Home Shield in the past, but I hardly used it and ended up paying out of pocket for repairs like a garage motor because I forgot about the coverage. Recently, I've started using their services again, and I'm waiting for an electrician and a plumber to come around for some fixes.
A couple of weeks ago, I found American Home Shield's customer service to be quite frustrating. There was a miscommunication regarding a payment with a garage repairman, leading to a double charge on my end. Trying to get reimbursed proved to be a prolonged hassle as I felt I was being run in circles between American Home Shield and their provider, culminating in a tedious back-and-forth with my bank, which dragged out longer than it should have.
The technicians who've come to my home have been professional and knowledgeable, so I have no complaints there. The issue was mainly with the communication and clarity on my billing discrepancy. When I tried to get my issue resolved over the phone, it felt lost in translation, leading to a frustrating experience with their customer service team.
While they have potential, to make my experience better, I believe American Home Shield could improve their refund process and ensure that their customer service reps understand and address specific issues clearly. Thankfully, after some time, the issue was sorted, but not without considerable effort and shared dissatisfaction with fellow customers who also canceled their plans for similar reasons.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I arranged for a service request online with American Home Shield, which was quite convenient. Fixer, the company they assigned, fixed the electrical issue in one of my rooms.
In terms of customer service and timeliness, I'd say American Home Shield performed exceptionally well, offering a smooth experience from start to finish. However, when it comes to pricing, I must admit I'm a bit dissatisfied. Despite some areas of concern, the overall experience left a positive impression, especially with how they handled the service aspect.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We are delighted to know that the convenience and timely service met your expectations, particularly when addressing the electrical issue. I encountered a leaking pipe causing watermarks on my kitchen ceiling, and there was a broken faucet component. While frustrated by this, I still found the claiming process to be relatively easy over the phone, although no information about the contractor, Nussbaumer Plumbing, was provided beforehand.
The contractors from Nussbaumer Plumbing were professional—soliciting whether to put plastic coverings over their shoes was appreciated. They examined the bathtub and identified potential leak causes yet found nothing to repair at that moment.
However, I called the home warranty company first since they were not forthcoming with details about the contractor. While everything was resolved timely, I still perceive an unresolved issue they may have overlooked, which slightly dampened my otherwise positive experience.
My feedback primarily revolves around costs. The increasing expenses are something I find troubling. Furthermore, I believe the $50 service fee shouldn’t be taken until the service is complete. Nonetheless, knowing that my home's items are generally under warranty provides some reassurance.
Their customer service was solid, warranting a four-star rating in my opinion, but coverage aspects fell a bit short at three stars, and price-wise, I'd only give a one-star due to how it's become a bit high.
I'd tell others that American Home Shield covers my home warranty, but also advise considering the rising costs you might encounter. Following the plumbing repairs, everything seems fine, though I’ve experienced a single clogging incident post-service.
Overall, while my experience with American Home Shield has had positive aspects, increasing service fees and communication factors have left me contemplating alternative options for comprehensive protection at a more reasonable cost.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback about your recent experience with American Home Shield. We’re glad to hear that the claiming process went smoothly over the phone and that the contractors from Nussbaumer Plumbing were professional. We apologize that information about the contractor wasn’t provided upfront. Your feedback regarding communication and increased service costs is invaluable, and we're committed to conveying improvements in these areas. Please feel free to reach out if there's anything more specific you’d like to discuss, and monitor any lingering issues closely. My experience with the RHG Appliance Repair technician was professional and satisfactory. The issue was with the refrigerator's compressor. Instead of opting for repairs, American Home Shield recommended and processed a cash settlement, which allowed me to replace it with a new unit. It seemed like a more cost-effective option given that the compressor repair would have been more expensive.
The service provided was smooth. As far as improvements go, I had some difficulty accessing alternative options through the mobile app. Although they were accessible via email and online, it was unclear on the app. Aside from this minor issue, I found their service straightforward.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback! My dissatisfaction with American Home Shield started with an $8,000 air conditioning unit installed by their vendor, which soon stopped working. When I sought help from American Home Shield, they sent another technician who refused to cover the repair, claiming installation errors by the initial vendor—a company they provided. This incident led me to shell out an additional $3,000.
I've also dealt with their technicians giving conflicting information, such as claiming a brand new unit needed replacement merely two years after purchase. Their reasoning was flawed, and the inconsistencies in their explanations were frustrating. There's a pattern where units are deemed too old, yet their warranty fails when service or cost is to be covered by the company.
Garbage disposal installations also went wrong, causing damage to my cabinetry with a cut-out of the kitchen cabinet bottom, leaving an unsightly gap. My dealings with AC repairs were another headache. I ended up paying twice for the same unresolved issue until a reputable AC company confirmed improper installation. American Home Shield's vendors repeatedly missed diagnosing and resolving issues accurately while increasing costs, forcing me to resort to private services for effective solutions.
The customer service experience was equally unpleasant. My conversations initially focused on requesting managerial oversight, only to learn that staff was unavailable, furthering my frustration. The company seems absent of a robust tracking mechanism and feedback loop to assess vendor performance accurately. They consistently utilize poorly rated vendors, which is substantiated by feedback from other dissatisfied customers on platforms I frequent.
Considering American Home Shield initially promised reliable services, my continued experience of service rejections was disappointing. My husband and I were aware of their reputation; however, the situation warranted direct first-hand assessment. Issues such as lack of customer support and naïve reassurance to validate vendor competence—without empirical assessment—are rampant.
Aside from issues, I've had one positive encounter. A technician working on my washer and dryer was notably professional and qualified. However, these instances are isolated and do not positively tip an otherwise overwhelmingly negative customer experience.
Ultimately, I rated my experience as extremely poor, as American Home Shield failed to meet my expectations on several occasions. To categorically ensure client navigation of similar struggles, they should prioritize corrective vendor measures while establishing communication channels furnishing direct consumer-veracity.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

The technician who came out was excellent and adept at explaining the problem. His ability to clearly show me what was going wrong left a positive impression, and the repair was completed the same day. Since then, everything has been working fine.

Unfortunately, my experience with American Home Shield has not been ideal. My AC stopped working due to a part malfunction, and American Home Shield assigned a technician from Air Smith Pro to handle the repair. Although the technician was pleasant and identified the problem, they informed me that I needed to cover additional costs for ordering the required part.
I was taken aback by the potential out-of-pocket expenses since I expected my policy with American Home Shield to cover these costs. This lack of clarity in their coverage led me to seek an alternative. I found another contractor through a referral who offered a significantly more affordable repair service. With their help, my AC is now working fine.
Moving forward, American Home Shield could improve by providing clearer details regarding policy coverage to avoid such misunderstandings. Despite the technician's professional demeanor, the need for more upfront communication on what my policy includes left me dissatisfied. Overall, I would rate my experience a 3 out of 5, as the lack of transparency in coverage was a major downside.

I signed up with American Home Shield back in 2023. My experience with them, particularly regarding customer service, has been quite unsatisfactory. I've encountered issues with both my washing machine and air conditioner. It's been almost four weeks without a properly working washing machine. The technician they outsourced is highly unprofessional, failing to update either me or the company on the repair status. The only thing I know is he mentioned having to order a part that takes about 7 to 10 days to arrive, but I haven't heard anything since.
I told the company it's frustrating because even though I faithfully pay $88.16 monthly, the service I received has been less than desirable, especially from these outsourced technicians. I recommended to them that they should vet their contractors better, ensuring they're capable of delivering good service to customers.
Having to use a laundromat when I have appliances at home is disappointing. Additionally, there's a significant language barrier when they outsource customer service internationally, which hampers communication. These two aspects need serious attention for improvement.

Initially, when ARM Mechanicals came to replace my old water heater, everything seemed satisfactory in terms of them working efficiently and in a timely manner. However, my experience with AHS overall has been disappointing.
Despite paying for this policy for six years, I found myself having to additionally cover unexpected costs. With the water heater replacement, I ended up incurring an extra $1,000 for new pipes and other essential components. Considering the monthly premiums I’ve been paying, my expectations were not met as I felt that these should have been covered.
While I appreciated the work of ARM Mechanicals, who did perform well in their tasks, the whole situation with the extra costs was quite frustrating. When I encountered an issue with my AC unit, I contacted AHS, and they dispatched Air Force Heating and Cooling to handle the repair. The issue with the AC was a faulty part that needed replacement. The tech managed to diagnose and rectify the problem efficiently. Now, everything is running smoothly.
There was a minor delay in response from the service provider since the problem arose over a weekend. However, they did contact us late Monday. While I acknowledge the delay was partly due to timing, it could be seen as a typical hiccup for weekend services.
Despite the overall positive experience, my main concern is American Home Shield's lack of coverage for septic-related issues. My air conditioning unit wouldn't turn on, so a contractor from Thermal Tech Heating and Air Conditioning LLC was sent by American Home Shield. They diagnosed a burnt-out control board and my interaction with them was smooth and professional. However, American Home Shield declined to cover the repairs, citing an electrical surge issue, which I felt should have been covered under the warranty. I did try to get a second opinion through American Home Shield, but they indicated it would likely be declined, so I ended up handling the replacement myself.
I've had American Home Shield's Gold Plan for quite some time and I've found it lacking in coverage. It barely covers essentials; for example, only $10 for Freon when it costs around $100 per pound. Given this, I’m considering switching to another company as paying an outside technician might be more beneficial. American Home Shield's customer service is easy to reach, but resolving issues hasn't been satisfying. I would advise friends or family to consider other options first.
Hello Otis. Thanks for the feedback on your service claim, and thank you for your kind words regarding the efficiency of our customer service. I'm sorry to see that you are not as pleased with other aspects of the plan. I will try to address some of your concerns.
I was able to locate your service request in our system, and I reviewed the diagnosis and the authorization decision. As you noted, the cause of failure for the control board was determined to be a power surge. Please note that in the agreement plan, section 7.k, electrical surges are specifically named as among the causes of failure that are not covered by the warranty. Our customer service agents tried to dissuade you from proceeding with the second opinion because in this situation, the confirmation of the power surge or electrical strike would have resulted in your losing a second service fee.
We also have plans which cover a larger amount of refrigerant, which you listed as one of your concerns. The Shield Platinum plan specifically includes unlimited AC refrigerant. You can look over coverage options for our plans here : https://www.ahs.com/ .
Our warranty plans do cover a wide range of service issues but unfortunately, we aren't able to cover every possible cause of failure for a system. Still, you will find by comparing what is covered to the coverage of our competitors that AHS' plans are in general much wider in coverage scope and amount.
We hope that you will continue to use us as your home warranty option. If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to our team directly at socialmedia@ahs.com.

I engaged with American Home Shield for my AC issues, and my interaction with their service provider, Thermodynamic Technologies, was far from smooth. Although I arranged the appointment online without much hassle, I found Thermodynamic's service to be quite disappointing. They were consistently late and had excuses every time, "My car broke down. Somebody was sick. I lost power," outright ghosting me for days and not responding to texts. It was terrible. Thermodynamic put me through the wringer right during the middle of a terrible heat wave and I told American Home Shield I never wanted that company back in my house again.
Despite these challenges, American Home Shield attempted to resolve the situation. This has been going on since June 16th and they struggled to find alternate service providers, but eventually managed to schedule another service call. Although it took some time, this was due to the busy schedules of local contractors.

In terms of value, considering the costs involved, I'd rate American Home Shield a solid 4. After spending six months with them, I advise others to thoroughly assess whether such a service is the right fit for their needs. American Home Shield's follow-up and communication have consistently been impressive. Any time I contemplate canceling the service, I reconsider due to the peace of mind they provide. While the service fees have increased over the years, their coverage and reliability make it worthwhile. I've recommended them to several family members, as having that security is invaluable.
Overall, I hold American Home Shield in high regard. The pricing aspect has seen some increases, which I find understandable given current economic conditions, yet it's still deserving of a top rating due to the overall value provided to me.
It's good to hear that you had a great experience with us! Thank you so much for your wonderful review. If you have any further needs or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I’ve had AHS for 10 years now, and my experiences have been mostly positive. Recently, I needed a reliable contractor for a plumbing issue; my water heater's pilot light went out, and I couldn’t get it relit. Submitting the claim was a breeze.
I've used the contractor before, Reliable Plumbing, and as usual, they were great; there’s a standard in this area, and they certainly met it. The interaction and quality of their work were fine. After their visit, everything has been running smoothly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We truly appreciate your continued support and your trust in our services.
Your insights are incredibly helpful in guiding our efforts to improve and ensure we’re meeting your expectations. We're committed to delivering the best possible service, and your feedback plays a vital role in helping us achieve that goal.

In terms of technical support, I have only required their services twice, but each instance was handled efficiently and satisfactorily.
Overall, I would enthusiastically recommend their services to friends and family.

I had a recent issue with my air conditioning unit. When it wasn't cooling properly, the techs were prompt in diagnosing and fixing the problem by replacing a necessary part. The service was efficient, and everything was handled in a timely manner.
I’ve had good experiences overall with AHS, and I'd recommend them to friends and family. Their online website was also user-friendly, and setting up service requests through it was quite straightforward.

A particularly hot day prompted me to check if my air conditioner was functioning properly, so I filed a claim online with American Home Shield. It was handy that all my information was readily available on their website, making it simple to submit the claim. They arranged for Liberty Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning to come over. However, it did take almost a week for them to arrive, which is my primary concern given the busy summer months for air conditioning services. Other than that, the contractor was commendable.
Pricing is another slight issue, as I would prefer the service call fee to be a bit lower, perhaps around the $125 mark. Despite this, the convenience of having a technician assigned to resolve issues without needing to search for one myself is valuable. When they checked my air conditioning, it turned out to be slightly low on gas, but no significant repairs were necessary, as it’s an older system. Since then, the system seems to be running smoother.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We’re pleased to hear that our online claim process made things easier and that you were satisfied with the service from our contractor. However, we apologize for the delay in service scheduling due to the summer's high demand, as well as the pricing concerns you mentioned. Making sure our services provide clear value is something we continually review and work to improve. We appreciate your suggestions and are grateful for the reminder of how essential minimal disruptions are, especially relating to prompt air conditioning solutions. Please feel free to reach out if you need further assistance. We’re always here to help!

Advanced Air, the service provider sent by American Home Shield, handled my AC situation by troubleshooting my system thoroughly, providing an assessment, and eventually submitting the cost to American Home Shield for an upgrade, resulting in the replacement of my entire AC system. I was impressed with the way Advanced Air managed their tasks. On the other hand, my experience with American Home Shield itself was disappointing. The process was inefficient, and I wouldn’t choose to use them again. I encountered difficulties when setting up my request online, leading to a need for additional phone support.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

In June, my dryer control panel stopped functioning, and I contacted Sears through the service. The technician knew it was the control panel, yet his visit on the 27th of June never happened, even though I drove back from North Dakota specifically to meet him. That turned out to be a waste, as I received the call on the day of the appointment letting me know the technician couldn’t make it.
Selecting a new appointment was a hassle too, especially over the 4th of July weekend. Automated messages were no help, as I didn’t want to mess up the original appointment timing for July 7th. When trying to resolve it, I spent an hour getting transferred and frustrated over the phone because there were no operators on the holiday. Ultimately, I had to rely on my customer service experience with my home warranty company instead.
Despite my 8-year relationship with American Home Shield, always paying annually like clockwork, this situation turned problematic without signs of resolution. Currently, I'm left without a functioning dryer and dubious as to whether they'll make it on the next appointed date.
Unfortunately, my present experience doesn't match my initial positive story, making it unlikely I'd recommend them again. It's odd since a few neighbors chose their service based on my earlier accolades. Similarly, the service price doesn't sit well today, given I've only used it rarely despite an annual $700+ fee.
If asked to rate their customer and service on a 5-star scale, I'd leave them with a reluctant one-star rating, based on enduring long waits for no shows and subsequent disappointment.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I picked American Home Shield for a few specific reasons, but unfortunately, my experience with their service hasn't met my expectations. Since I bought my house in April, I had one experience where I initiated a claim on a plumbing issue, but ended up canceling it because American Home Shield couldn't get anyone out during the weekend without charging an extra fee. They asked for an additional $250 on top of the $100 service fee for weekend services, and honestly, for $350, I can handle many tasks myself. After recent damage to my pool equipment from an apparent power surge, I was disappointed when my claim was denied quickly because power surges aren't covered. It left me questioning the very purpose of having a home warranty.
The one time a technician did visit for the pool issue, the experience with them personally was fine—they did their job well. However, I believe American Home Shield can improve by making technicians available on weekends and covering incidents like power surges.
Overall, my interactions have not convinced me of the service's value, and I would rate my experience with American Home Shield a 2 out of 5.

I recently had an interaction with American Home Shield concerning a plumbing issue that arose as part of our HVAC system check. While I wasn’t present for the visit, my husband managed the process. The technicians from MS Plumbing of Georgia were apparently thorough and provided a positive assessment of the situation. Our home warranty company requested that a plumber examine the problem before they would send out someone to inspect the HVAC system. Although there was a leak, the plumber confirmed that everything seemed fine afterwards.
Regarding American Home Shield, I've found their approach to addressing the initial step of sending a plumber to be satisfactory. For now, I'm waiting for someone to inspect the HVAC unit to ensure everything is resolved. Based on my experience, I’m quite happy with the service provided under the home warranty.

My recent experience with American Home Shield wasn't the best. When I contacted Expert Cooling and Heating for an internal gas leak issue, there was some confusion; they initially looked for an external gas leak instead. The internal leak I reported wasn't covered under my American Home Shield policy, so no further steps were taken to resolve it. Since joining them about two to three months ago, this has been my notable service experience, which hasn't been very positive.
From a customer service perspective, my interactions with American Home Shield left a lot to be desired. I didn’t find much satisfaction in how the situation was handled. I tried to set up my service request online but found the website a bit perplexing and difficult to navigate, as there weren’t many options applicable to my issue. Although there was a section to provide detailed comments, it seemed those were overlooked, prompting a less than stellar rating from me.
In reflection, paying $100 for a service that didn't resolve my problem felt fruitless, as the actual contract for the service wasn't part of an additional out-of-pocket payment. Overall, my rating of the service from American Home Shield from this interaction stands at a low point, considering the lack of resolution and communication hurdles. The initial inclusion of their service in my home purchase package hasn't translated into a seamless or particularly helpful experience.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I opted for American Home Shield due to the promise of reliable service for my home appliances. However, my experience with them has been anything but satisfactory. I encountered an issue with my washing machine roughly six or seven months ago, and the series of events that followed left me frustrated. A technician from Dependable Appliance Service initially suggested that the problem was with the computer board, and they replaced it along with a new belt. Unfortunately, the machine persistently stopped mid-cycle.
Multiple subsequent visits by the technicians involved numerous guesses and part replacements, yet the machine continued to malfunction. Their solutions were often temporary, with explanations like "sometimes they don't last long," which I found unconvincing. Eventually, the technician put an old part back on the machine, which confused me further as it seemed counterproductive.
Throughout this ordeal, I've had technicians come to my home about four times in less than a year, only to face ongoing issues. During one instance, the hose was improperly reattached, leading to flooding in my home—a situation that exacerbated my disappointment.
American Home Shield was of little help, as they insisted on sticking with their contracted service providers despite the recurring problems. Their lack of responsiveness and concession to their contractors was disappointing. Given the money I've contributed in monthly fees, I felt I could have purchased multiple washing machines by now.
Ultimately, I chose to cancel my contract with American Home Shield. If a friend or family member were to ask for my recommendation regarding their service, I’d have to advise against it based on my experiences. Overall, my repeated attempts to have a functional washing machine and reliable customer service left me extremely dissatisfied.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Sherita. We’re truly sorry for the repeated issues with your washing machine and the inconvenience caused by multiple service visits. While we rely on our contractors to provide quality service, we regret that this situation didn’t meet your expectations. Your feedback is important and will help us improve both our contractor network and service processes. We appreciate the time you were with us and are sorry to see you go. If there’s anything further we can do, please let us know.

I had a recent service call for my AC unit, which was initially blowing a mix of hot and cold air. The technician from Fix It, Inc was assigned the task and I must say, he was thorough in his approach. He checked the AC unit, put a booster on it, and cleaned it, leading to it working perfectly now.
However, one area that could be improved is the service fee policy. I had an appointment in April but wasn’t using my AC much due to the weather. When I needed the service again in July, American Home Shield charged me a new fee because it was over 30 days. I feel there should be some exceptions for scenarios where the unit hasn't been used but the issue is the same.
Overall, aside from that policy adjustment, I'm quite satisfied with the service provided by American Home Shield. I would rate their overall service highly and am willing to let them share this feedback.

I chose American Home Shield because I needed reliable protection for my home appliances, like the HVAC unit, which I thought was a sound decision. Initially, when I faced an issue with my HVAC system, which wasn't working, the technician from American Home Shield implied it was due to a lightning strike. I was skeptical and requested a second opinion.
The second technician took time to check the unit, especially in the attic, and showed me pictures of the components. He pointed out that it was more likely related to normal wear and tear, given the age of the unit, rather than being caused by an external factor like a lightning strike. Despite this second evaluation, my claim was not approved, which was disappointing.
I've been with American Home Shield for about three years now. They handled a previous issue with my hot water heater quite effectively, and that was the only truly satisfactory experience I had with them. Normally, I would expect my premiums to cover normal aging issues like wear and tear, but that hasn’t consistently been the case. Their response and customer service are excellent—they are quick to send someone out—but the quality and conclusions of some partner technicians can be lacking.
If asked, I'd probably rate my experience a 2 out of 5, considering how quickly they act on requests and provide support. However, the quality of some of their service partners affected my satisfaction. Therefore, if a friend or family member were considering American Home Shield, I'd advise them to gather as much knowledge and documentation about their home appliances as possible, just to ensure they have solid ground when filing claims.
Ashanti, thank you for being a valued member over the past three years and for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear about the frustration surrounding your HVAC claim. Both the initial technician and the second opinion contractor concluded that the issue was caused by a power surge. Unfortunately, damage resulting from power surges is not covered under the terms of our home warranty plans. We’re glad to hear that your previous experience with your water heater was handled to your satisfaction, and we appreciate your kind words about the responsiveness of our customer service team.
Thank you again for your feedback, it helps us grow and better serve our members. If there’s anything further we can do to assist, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
