The contractors came for my refrigerator and my microwave. When they came out for the microwave, it was an easy experience. The guy looked it up and then it was the center. He ordered it, and then he rescheduled again, came back and changed that. For the refrigerator, the guy came and he was like, "It's just an ice that's stuck," and then he left. Then the refrigerator continued doing what it was doing and then he came back. It was two parts that he had to order, so he ended up ordering the parts. I had to spend a week without a refrigerator and then last Saturday, he came and he changed everything. Now the refrigerator is working fine. Both of the contractors were really friendly and they did their job. The only issue with the refrigerator was I had to wait a week without a refrigerator. However, they had to order the parts and then wait until they got here. So, it was fairly easy. Just a little bit of a hassle not having a refrigerator.

Everybody that had shown up from American Home Shield was very professional. When my kitchen sink was draining very slowly, they sent out SAP Home Repair Services. A tech came in and he unstopped it and left very quickly. He was a very nice gentleman. He was able to do the repair the same day and he explained what he was doing and how he did it. Everything is working wonderfully.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Submitting the claim is easy to do. It’s a $75 payment each time, so you got to really think what it is you’re getting fixed, whether it’s going to be $75 or less. Other than that, it's fine. Everything was taken care of. Affordable Heat and Air was knowledgeable, very professional, and customer-friendly. That’s the biggest thing with me. I don’t want somebody coming that doesn’t have any customer relations with anybody. I like Home Shield because it takes care of a lot that would have killed me and my pocket.

The central air quit working. The AHS website seemed to work fine when I filed the claim but I would have loved it if A-US Air Conditioning came out in just a couple of days. It was in July in hot weather and in Southeast Texas. They got here within five days. They let me know within 24 hours that they had me on the list, but that was the soonest they could get to me. Other than that, they were fantastic. Since then, I have no issues with the central air conditioning and it made our home tolerable. Overall, I'm pleased that I've ended up with American Home Shield.

I had people come out and do plumbing two weeks ago. It was Home Choice Services and they did a great job. They came out right at the end of the time when they said that they were gonna be here, and then there were two toilets and two drains that I had problems with not working properly. The technician did the work quickly. He was also very helpful, professional, and showed me afterwards what he had done. Everything has been working really well since then. Today, A-1 Appliance came out and they completed an electrical problem with a major appliance, my cooktop. All in all, American Home Shield is good. There is just one order that is confusing and I wanna know how it's gonna be followed up on. Right now, I've been trying to figure out how to reach them, if I have to go online again or if there's a phone number I can call or what I can do to deal with the refrigerator issue.

My air conditioner broke. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and found their site very accessible. It was very friendly to use and everything was easy. They gave me a timeframe during which their contractor from Myers Comfort Specialists would contact me to set up a date. When they tech came, he was very timely. He was done with the job in 20 minutes and my air was back up and running. My unit is old and AHS will just keep patching it until it bonks out. Myers replaced the fan and though the unit came back on, it still has issues.
Currently, I'm in the process of buying another house and selling the one I'm in. If I'm gonna sell my house, I'm gonna include AHS's warranty for a year with the purchase of the home. American Home Shield has done great for me. Every issue, they have resolved. Even when I had a problem with a previous vendor, they made sure that vendor is not able to come back out to my home. Plus, they've done more than my air conditioner. For my hot water heater problem, they couldn't find a part needed so I just got a new one.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Please let us know if you need if you need assistance. Have an amazing week.

I asked if the company that was coming would be the same company that worked before because that's who I wanted. We used Climate Masters the last time. They came, did the job and then they were gone. They were awesome and that's why I asked for them again. The company before them had all types of excuses and I didn't like them. This time, my air conditioner stopped working and Climate Masters came and got my stuff together. Home Shield is awesome too. I got the coverage and I don't have to pay a large amount out of pocket.

It was very easy to use the system to call and speak to someone for a claim. They were very fast about getting assistance for me. The company called me the same day and I was scheduled for the next day. They came out earlier than expected and the AC is running very well after the service. Everything went very well.

We really like American Home Shield. They've been really good. We've had little issues on and off with our heating and AC since we lived in this house. We've had to call them once or twice a year and they've helped get a contractor out here right away. It's been a great experience. Recently, one of our three garage doors stopped working. My wife sent an email and someone called that same day we made the complaint and said they'd have someone out in a couple of days. It took a week for someone to get out here. The garage door works fine now but my only concern with the whole process was that it took the contractor weeks to find the part. It took another two weeks before he could come out and replace it. He said he couldn't find the same size motor. He only had one that was bigger then he charged me $100 for the bigger motor.

The icemaker on our Samsung refrigerator stopped making ice. That was at my home in Marietta. A gentleman came out and did an assessment. He went through his tablet to look up whatever information he needed to look up. After he did all that, the assessment was we needed some type of computer board and an update. Apparently, Samsung puts out a series of refrigerators and with every new series, there’s an update. Apparently, we didn't have an update on ours. He said that if the update didn't work, they would pick another direction, either repairing it again or getting a new one. He said it would take about a week. So he put the order in.
In about two days, I received a text saying that the order had been put in and the technician should have it within a week. So about a week and a day went by and the technician called us. He said he had the part and he made an appointment to make the adjustment. He came in and he was masked and covered. He did his due diligence with the refrigerator and told us it would take 24 hours for it to kick in. After 24 hours, we now have ice.

We had a plumbing claim with Home Shield that Lake Plumbing came out for and they did great. But the claim that we had for the air conditioning was a nightmare. The guy came out and he didn't explain what was going on with the unit. He just wanted us to pay him $500 for refrigerant or Freon. We said we needed to talk but he left and he closed it out as if the claim was done. They told us everything was done and fine and we had to call back. We had so many long phone calls. I would be put on hold for over an hour and then they would hang up, probably by accident, and then I would call again. It was a nightmare. And we were sitting in 100-degree temperature. That contractor was horrible.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

The gentleman that came out for our recent claim, came when he said he was gonna be here. He was here on time, practically a little bit earlier. He wasn't here very long because he saw the problem right away. He said he was gonna order the part and as soon as the part came in, then he was gonna call me back. Two days later, he called me back to tell me the part was in and he came out the same day and installed it. He also had gloves and mask on. I've had AHS for years and I absolutely love it. I've even encouraged my daughter to get it for her home in Vegas. She's one of their customers as well. When submitting a claim to AHS, I can call them or I can do it online. I always call ‘cause I like to write down the person that I spoke to and it's always been easy. I've never had an issue.

My hot water heater went out. I was able to push the reset button on it. So if I wanted hot water to shower, I'd have to do it every morning and then wait about 45 minutes because I have it on 100% electric heater. Blue Collar came out quite quickly. The tech was wearing a mask when he came out. My garage is downstairs and I was able to open it up. He did his work in the garage and we maintained our distance. He was great. It worked out well. I'm satisfied and if I need anything, I'd like to call them again.
The only thing that took a while was the approval from American Home Shield. They have problems processing my payments. I phoned American Home Shield and they phoned me four different times. Because the payment is from my checking account, I gave them the routing number and the bank account number each time. I also did it online about three times and sometimes they were able to process it. Other times, I'd immediately get a response that they weren't able to process the payment and I’ve got no idea why. They were able to eventually get my monthly payment and after a couple of tries, they were able to get my $100 work order to process it. So that took a while before Blue Collar got the water heater and were able to install it. But the payment process was discouraging.

I had a refrigerator claim recently. It’s a GE refrigerator and water was leaking from the front of the freezer. I called AHS and they called me back and gave me the phone number of Hot Shot Appliance Service. They said the contractor would get in touch with me within 24 hours. The contractor came out and they unclogged the drainage. They were marvelous and I haven't seen a drop since. I had rags and towels underneath the refrigerator before the repair and now, I don't have anything down and it's cleaner. It's less worrisome for me. I have had AHS since 1999 and I have not had any difficulties. They've been very helpful.

I googled home warranties and American Home Sheild was one of the first ones that came up. They were better fitting for my needs and their price was fair. Compared to some of the other contractors that I’ve had to use, I prefer Waters Edge Plumbing to come out ‘cause they call quickly, they find out what they're getting into and they used to send a guy out within a reasonable amount of time. A-1 Rapid Router, on the other hand, takes them at least a week to come out, if not longer, and I had to call them and keep calling.

I was very pleased with the contractors that came out for our plumbing issue. They did very well. The very day that I put in the request at American Home Shield, I got a phone call that day. The contractors were supposed to come out the next day, but they had a breakdown with their vehicle. They called me and let me know, and so they came the next day. The contractor looked at everything, he let me know that he was gonna have to order some parts and he communicated very well. My issue was fixed. There was a process to it. The water was leaking, so he came and he fixed the leak, and he stopped the leak. Then, he waited on the parts to come in for whatever else needed to be fixed. I was glad that he was able to stop the leak immediately. He followed back up with me too. American Home Shield is fine. I haven't had an issue with them.

I had a second time fighting with Home Shield about my AC unit because it was leaking water. The first time, the issue was a compressor. But this time, something wasn't right. When the Optimo Air tech came out, he was there about 10 minutes and it stopped leaking everywhere. He even showed me what I had to do. He told me that I just need to vacuum it out once a year or every two years and I'm good. But I wish they had done that the first time when a different company had come out. I would prefer to have Optimo Air come out every time if I have an AC issue.
It would be phenomenal if AHS could enable us to get a predetermined winning lottery ticket with every claim. It would be nice if they had an option to pick which day ahead of time but I know that varies by contractor. Or if you had to have an emergency service, could you choose that option when filing a claim. It wasn't a dire emergency to have them come out, but it would've been nice if we could see if they already predetermined what company is coming out. It'd be nice to know ahead of time to say, "I'd like to go ahead and schedule this for this day," instead of doing it over the phone with the company. Other than that, the warranty is worth it, especially for electronics or appliances. If you can't pay for it upfront for the year, you can do it monthly. It's pretty straightforward.

The house wasn't getting cool. Unfortunately, it happened on a Friday afternoon. So we had to wait until the following Tuesday. But the guy that they sent out for Air Boss was great. His name was Kevin. He had it fixed and back up and running inside about 30 to 45 minutes. Submitting the claim with AHS was fine. Most of the people AHS sends out are completely fine. But there have been one or two times where the people they send out are like, "This needs to be done." I am like, "Well, isn't that what you're here for?" They say, "Oh, no, that's not what I do."
Just this morning, about an hour ago we had a dishwasher delivered to us for a claim because the part was not available to fix the old one. We originally filed the claim for that about a month ago. It took forever to get somebody out here. When the guy came out here, it was like, "The part that you need is not available. So we're just gonna have to replace the dishwasher." Then it was about another three weeks before we got anything communicated to us. It took me calling them and sitting on hold for three hours. But overall, our experience with American Home Shield has been great. I personally have recommended American Home Shield to a couple of different people. But I also told them to shop around ‘cause there are different companies. They should find the one that best fits them.

My shower and the faucets were leaking. The problem was it’s 30 years old, and Sancho Services had a hard time trying to find the parts to it. They finally found them and was able to fix it after three weeks with them and after a week or so with the first people that were very unprofessional. The first one that came said that the hot water and the cold water were both leaking but there was a bolt that broke off of the hot water and he said that was from excessive force on it, but it wasn’t. It was just 30 years old. He wouldn't even fix the hot water. He said, “Well, you’ll just have to deal with it later.” I didn't think that was very professional of him. That was the reason that we disagreed with it and the other company came out and they said, “No, that was just the wear and tear from the 30 years or so on the part.” So, they got the parts and fixed it for us.
A lot of times, I’m not happy with American Home Shield. We had four weeks I was having over $100 water bill because of the leak. They could have just gone ahead and replaced it instead of just trying to find the part and fix it. It took us four weeks to get the part, and I didn’t agree with that. On another time, we had an air conditioner claim, and they would not replace it. We would have to pay a lot of money so we didn't go through with American Home Shield. I just did it on my own. So, sometimes I don't agree with some of the things they do.
I've been a long time customer of American Home Shield, and I even went to having all my appliances on there. I started with like $30 a month. Now I’m paying over $70 a month plus 125 for a service fee. I've been a long time customer, but it is what it is. As of today, I'm not satisfied with them. When I first started with them, I was. I had an issue with my pool pump and they fixed it. I had a heat exchange. They fixed that. But in my water heater, we're not even in the county, but we still have to pay all the upgrades for the city and I’m not even in the city, so we didn't go through American Home Shield. That, we did ourselves. I'm paying all that monthly and then sometimes we're not using them. We've been tempted just to cancel it.

The fella was very thorough about investigating the system. Unfortunately, this house has been pieced together like a patchwork quilt over the years and there really wasn't anything that could be done to improve the cooling in the part of the house where I didn't feel it was blowing out cool. It goes through the most convoluted long route to get to that final destination. It's like, "Just give it up. Go stay in the other rooms that are cool and wait until summer wears off." He did what he could, but he said if we were going to really fix it, it was going to be very expensive. It was going to be a major overhaul. I said at that point, I couldn't do that so we just let it go.
I asked for a number of things to be done 'cause the house was a mess. I had called Home Shield and they sent out a plumber who said he couldn't do anything for me because they couldn't find the clear-out drain. If he couldn't do that, he was not authorized to do any work. So he went away and I hired somebody myself who was a lot more thorough. He found out that something was put in backwards up under the slab. He didn't know what the fix was gonna be on that. He said he had some ideas as to how to fix it, but he said to see how things would go and if I didn't really need to fix them, to just cope with it as it is.
I made a claim on the stovetop because it wasn't heating up properly and I haven't tried all of the burners yet, but I think that has been improved. Sears came out and secured that. The one thing that really worked was I had all my locks rekeyed and that fella was top-notch. He saw all kinds of issues that I didn't even see and he fixed them all. That was great. Then there was the freezer where the ice maker wasn't working properly. The fella got a new part or two and reinstalled it, and it was working for a while. Then it messed up again so I just shut that down.
It's more a matter of me understanding what the problems are then pushing for fixes or not but I love that the call only costs me $79 no matter pretty much what needs to be done. There was something with the AC where the fella said, "Whatever needs to be done with this is certainly not gonna be covered by American Home Shield." I'm on the verge of needing to get an electrician to come out because a light over an entryway is filled with water. Every time we have rain, it spills out more. But I don't know whether I should call American Home Shield to have somebody come out and look at it and say, "Oh no, I can't fix it," or if I should just call somebody who's recommended by somebody who lives here and get them to come out.

Our air conditioner wasn't working and Epic Heating and Air came out to check and fix it. At the same time, the technician found that the heater was out and put in a claim for it. They did a great job although they were a little slow. Also, we got a new heater, which we're grateful for, but it didn't seem right to have to pay $1,500 to have it retrofitted when I thought that would be covered by the warranty. That wasn't explained until you got the heater ordered. People don’t know that when you have something replaced, you have to pay extra to have it work. I'm paying for a warranty to cover things in my house and if it takes retrofitting, I would never have guessed in my life that I'd have to pay for it.
We’ve been with American Home Shield for four years and we've had difficulties in the past with different providers that have come out. One said that they were gonna do something but they never showed up again. When your air conditioner is not working, you’re waiting seven days. But other than that, it's been okay. American Home Shield is great in so many areas.

This review is to let everyone know how horrible my experience has been with American Home Shield. I've been trying to cancel my home warranty for over two weeks now and it's basically impossible to get in touch with the retention department in order to cancel. I've reached out to the company on multiple platforms - phone, Facebook, Twitter, email, mail, etc. and have gotten nowhere. They place you on hold for hours on end, and when you do finally get through, the person you talk to either can't help you with the request or they transfer your call to the retention department, and they don't answer. I've also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I would strongly recommend against moving forward with this company if you're looking to purchase a home warranty. If you look at their customer interactions on social media and on the BBB website, you'll see there are multiple complaints similar to mine.

Great service. This is my mother's account, but since I've been in communication with them for the past seven years or so, they put me down. Sometimes my daughter would put in the request and when she does, she does it online, but I usually call. I prefer the one-on-one. I'm older and it’s easier for me. I don't wanna go online and go through a lot of pages. I just wanna get through it, do it, get it done and be done. Recently, I called and Amazing Plumbing came out. They were very good.
American Home Shield has been very responsive, except for one time. They must have recently, last year or so, changed their services. I had a plumbing issue last year and we couldn't get anyone to come out because it was over the weekend. We called on a Friday and they couldn't assign anyone. We had to find our own, and with me dealing with them, that was the first time that happened. It hasn't happened again, but it was odd because we needed something right then.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I definitely won’t be renewing my warranty with them. We’ve used our warranty 3 times and two things remained the same, the contractors had a “we’ll get to you when we can attitude” and American Home Shield paid pennies while we footed the majority of the bill. Recently our AC stopped working. The contractor said he could come out on Friday(it was Wednesday) and the temperature was already 85 degrees in our home and rising, my elderly mother lives with us. I tried to call AHS several times waiting 45 minutes to an hour, no one.
I cancelled the order and had an independent company come out and fix the problem. I called AHS asking to be reimbursed if the service would have been covered under our warranty. I was told No because I didn’t get preapproval. What? How can I when I couldn’t get anyone on the phone. Then I was told if I had talked to someone they could have expedited the service for 24hrs. What? At a minimum I’d have to wait 24 HOURS to get an AC fixed when temperatures are rising in the 100s. Please STAY AWAY FROM AHS!!!

I purchased my home in December and the homeowners that sold it gave American Home Shield warranty for the first year. I definitely plan to keep it for the following year. Trying to request services is easy and I love doing it online. That's not an issue for me. Their response is really quick. They turn around, they call me to set up a time, and they send me a text message or an email. I think even both. I find it very friendly. The only thing is there is vagueness in navigating and recognizing what it is that I'm needing to identify, which electronic needs fixing or looked at. Otherwise, it's great. They sent out Mr. Rooter of Abilene and they came out for my garbage disposal. They handled that very well. They've answered any kind of questions that I had. They recognize the problem of the issue and they replaced the disposal. They had been out there twice. But they've been very professional.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

The first time the gentleman came out, the drum wasn’t spinning. He didn't have a belt on his truck and he had to order the belt. So, we had to wait another week for an appointment. The next gentleman who came in installed the belt immediately but at that time, it was also making a screeching noise. He was absolutely outstanding. He was an engineer as well as a repairman and he understood exactly what was wrong with me just describing the issue. He knew right away it was a bearing so he went out to his truck and got it. Then he came in and installed that. He did a magnificent job. Over and above simply fixing it mechanically, he saw that there was a bunch of lint buildup in there when he took it all apart, and he vacuumed all the lint off of it. I thanked him profusely for that because that's one of the major causes of house fires and most of the time, you can't get to it without ripping the machine apart.
The second gentleman was way more than fine and he needed to get recognized. I sent a note to A&E immediately and they sent me a note back saying that they would see that he's taken care of. American Home Shield happens to pick the right people. The claims experience itself is many different parts though. It's spending two hours on the phone and it’s getting cut off two or three times, which are both unconscionable. But I'm not gonna downgrade the people because the phone system sucks. I'm relatively happy with AHS. There are other people out there doing it but their ratings are not good. I give American Home Shield 120 bucks a month for two houses that are covered with this. One's a rental and one's mine. So, I'm paying them 1,500 bucks a year in insurance and for the most part, when something's broken, I get it done.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

My issue has been resolved. I am satisfied with the work and service provided by your company. American Home Shield also give me a $150.00 for my trouble. They made good on their promise to completely replace my unit.
Original Review: Aug. 13, 2020
This is my second time with American Home Shield. The first time was back when I was in Georgia, and ‘cause my house was brand new. When I moved here, I got a policy again, but I'm not impressed with the service. I’ve been in the house for a little less than a year, and I've been having problems since 30 days after I'd gotten the house. When I turned the air conditioner on, it would cool and then it would stop cooling. I called American Home Shield and then TJ Morgan came out and put Freon in it. It ran for three months and I called them out again ‘cause it was doing the same thing. They put more Freon in it, and then it started running less and less. It got to a point in June that it wouldn't hold the charge for two days.
I called TJ Morgan out on a Friday, and then I turned around and called them out again on a Monday. I then called them out again on the next Friday. That was the last week that they came out and at that time, because I was calling them out every two days, they put a leak test on my unit and then they charged it up again with Freon. The third time they came out, the guy told me to turn the unit off. When I turned the unit off, he went up in the attic, came back down and said, “You have a leak, and I can hear it when the unit’s off.” He then called his boss but he didn’t tell me what his boss said. After that, he went back upstairs and got the serial number and model number.
Two days later, I hadn’t heard anything from TJ Morgan or from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield and talked to somebody who said something about a part had to be replaced and that they were gonna order the part. They told me that I would have to pay $150 out of pocket and I said, “No problem. I just wanna get it fixed.” I then called TJ Morgan and they told me that they were waiting on American Home Shield to order the part. The person said, “As soon as they order the part, they’re gonna either ship it to us or tell us where to go get it.”
Here in Southeast Texas, the outside temperature has been averaging 96 last week and the temperature in my living room on average is somewhere between 80 and 85. I’m a 57-year-old man and I have asthma. I'm also a 70% disability vet and I had to personally go out and buy an air conditioner to put in my bedroom. Right now, I'm waiting either on the part to be ordered or for TJ Morgan to get the part, come and then fix it.
I’ve called TJ Morgan once, and I called American Home Shield twice, and I still don't know when my part is gonna be ordered. Nobody can tell me a date or time how long the part is gonna be or when I'm gonna get the part. I hate to call them to worry them and bug, but this is Monday, and I'm gonna give them till Wednesday. I'm gonna call them again and I guarantee I'mma hear the same thing. “Oh, the part’s being ordered.”
I've been with American Home Shield for a total of four years. What I’d like to see them change is that someone needs to explain the process a bit more. My problem could’ve been fixed way back in November, but nobody explained the process. TJ Morgan came out a total of about six times in less than 10 months. I started calling them every other day ‘cause the problem got worse. Otherwise, I’d still be dealing with calling them every month to put Freon in my air conditioner. I spent 200 and some dollars on Freon the first time, then 150, then 104.
I spent out of my personal pocket about $700 in refrigerant cost, which I don't think I should’ve spent, but I can't get my money back. I understand that I gotta read the policy and after the third time that I called the company out, I read it. The policy did say that Freon was covered up to the first $10. Most of my expense coming out was the $75 and the Freon. Every time I called American Home Shield, except for the last three times, I had to pay a $75 fee. That's not a problem, but it should’ve been explained as, “Hey, we're gonna come out. If you have a problem in the next 30 days, you need to call us. That way, you won't get charged another $75 fee and if we put Freon in, you won't get charged again for Freon.”
The last week that TJ Morgan came out, I didn't get charged the $75 or the Freon. If I was, I would have spent over $1,000 on Freon. The part is only about $700 to $800. I could’ve spent $1,000 and just replaced the part myself. My problem should’ve been identified a lot faster as well. It took the same company with four or five different technicians 10 months to find out that I had a leak. It took TJ Morgan six visits, a total of $700 worth of Freon and whatever else that they did. I have a college degree in political science, but I knew from the second time they came. When you put Freon in a system, and in less than six months you're putting Freon in again, it doesn’t take a college professional to know that there's a leak. Doing my research, the system only takes six pounds of Freon.
If I put two pounds of Freon, and then I turned around, came back three months later, and put another two pounds, somebody should’ve said that was too much. They could’ve told me that back in October or they could’ve done a follow-up. It could’ve been a phone call or they could’ve come out and said that. It's almost like you’re driving your car, and you got a 20-gallon tank. You fill it up on a Monday, and then you turn around and you gotta fill it up on Tuesday, and you haven't driven anywhere. You gotta take your car to the dealer ‘cause you're burning too much gas.

My refrigerator was over icing and a technician from Astro Appliance came out. He was professional and he wore a mask wherever he was. He did some adjustments on the drawers in the freezer area, then he had to order parts and come back out. We had to wait a week or so for the parts and now, the refrigerator seems to be doing okay. It's icing up a little bit though, so I don't know if it feels good. American Home Shield also changed out a washing machine that already quit working, but it took a while. Every time we tried to call them and tell them which option we wanted to take, it was a five-hour wait on the phone.

Everything went great with the contractors that came out recently for our AC claim. It was an easy fix. The guy was friendly and professional. They got scheduled really quickly and they came when they said they were gonna come. So, that was helpful. I am very happy with AHS. I was customers years ago, switched to another company and was unhappy, and then I switched back. This is better. It's more expensive, so you get what you pay for, but it's definitely worth it.

I had a leak in one of my basement pipes. Additionally, the faucets in both my bathrooms were leaking as well. I went on the internet and made a service call to American Home Shield. I was very impressed with their site. Within minutes, I got notified that my request had been put in. Within hours, I got a response from their attending company A Water Solutions. The tech from there was wonderful. The shutoff valve in my basement was leaking behind our wall. We noticed the musty smell. He explained that with old pipes, touching them might make them leak. He tightened up my pipe and tied a rag around it just to make sure everything was fine. The rag was moist three days later so water was still coming through. I let A Water Solutions know that when they came back for my faucet and the pipe leak hasn't been a problem since. I've been very pleased with American Home Shield.

I was looking to switch my warranty company and I was googling, calling and researching. I then decided to go with American Home Shield. Anytime I've needed to have a repair, whether I call or go online, I haven't had any complaints. This company sends someone and takes care of the situation. There was an incident where it was not getting cold. I went online and it was easy to navigate the website and do the work order. They then said they would give me a call. I called them though and then at some point, it started getting back cold, so I cancelled the appointment.
A day later, my AC did it again. I went online a second time and I got a call on a Sunday. By the time Steinmetz HVAC came out on a Monday, my air conditioner still wasn't getting cold. The guy said that it was because the fan blower wasn't coming on. He explained that when the wind blew, it would come on and then when there was no wind, then it wouldn't come on anymore. He also said he replaced a piece on it and he showed me. Steinmetz was professional and they repaired my air conditioner. Now, it's working.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

We had two washing machines that needed to be looked at. One was in the basement and when the fellow from Saulter's Appliance Repair initially came a month ago, he said the issue was the timer for the washing machine. Somebody already figured that out, but there were two components. I asked about the noise that it was making and he said that it didn't make any difference. When he came to replace the timer, he was down there in the basement for about two minutes and he fixed the timer, he said. We then went upstairs to have him fix the other washing machine, which was an easy fix.
Three days later, I went down to use that machine in the basement and it immediately started making the noise that I had expressed to him was an issue before. We then started having the electrical smell, so I unplugged it and it has not been used since. The machine now is totally out of commission where before, the timer issue could be bypassed. I called the fellow back, and he was to come today, which he did. However, when I called him back to let him know about the unusable machine, he said to me that it was a new situation and I said it was not. I said, "I told you about it and this is what you said to me."
I also called American Home Shield and I spent over an hour on the phone. All of it was documented with times and screenshots of the time that I spent on the call because I asked for them to send out another person because the Saulter's fellow didn't fix the initial problem. I didn't want to wait the two weeks I was having to wait to have him come back again, which is not unreasonable for me not to want to do that. They absolutely, positively refused to do that.
Going back to Saulter's, they came today and they called to say they were on their way. We had our window of time and my husband was running 10 to 15 minutes late. I'm at the beach and then my husband got stuck in traffic. The fellow had already gotten there and he said he could not wait and that he was going to leave. I understand that part, but nonetheless. I asked if he could just leave the part and he said he didn't have a part. Why didn't he have the part? Today was another, "Let's see what is wrong with it" which should've been diagnosed initially. If he didn't have the part, they were going to have to come back again, and that would be another two weeks from now in order to get our washing machine fixed. It shouldn't take six weeks.
We have a commode that's running as well and this is a different issue. Because it's Kohler, I'm told it's going to take two to three weeks possibly to get the part in. We're now two weeks into the whole process and today, they said it's going to be two to three weeks for the part to get in. We're in the building business. You can make things happen if you want to make them happen. All in all, my experience with American Home Shield has been horrible and quite honestly, I'm done. There is another component to this, but that's irrelevant. That's my hang-up with it. I will be canceling this policy and I will be asking for a total refund of all of our payments to them because, it's bull what they make you go through. I am not a happy camper, and I really do not complain very often.
We do apologize for the inconvenience and the delay with the plumbing and appliance(washer) issue. We would love to assist more in this matter and speak with you pertaining to a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

There was water all over my floor. It was 6 o’clock in the morning and when I opened up my freezer, it was pouring water. I shut off the water for the ice maker. I made a claim for it with American Home Shield. A guy came over and when he opened up the ice maker, the water started coming out quickly. He said one of the parts of the ice maker was broken and he was gonna go ahead and take care of it. Parts were ordered. But it’s been two weeks already and they never came back.
There is no communication. American Home Shield has not sent me a message letting me know that they approved the repair for my refrigerator or that they were waiting for a part. We have to communicate with them and ask them, “Hey, where are we at with this?” My refrigerator hasn’t gotten fixed yet but they charged me the $100.
I also had a claim for my AC. That was kinda bad. When the wheel of the AC sucked up the air, it was going back. I told a gentleman that was not gonna last and that was gonna break. He told me not to worry and that I would be fine. The wheel broke completely on Wednesday morning and the technician didn't show up until Saturday. All those days, I went without an AC. On Friday, it was like 117 degrees. I got kids and a dog that can’t be higher than a certain temperature because it’s an English bulldog. It was pretty rough. The guy who came, Mike, was really nice. But it took that many days for them to fix an AC. When I called the company to see if they could send somebody else, they said they couldn't really send somebody else because they already ordered the parts.

They dispatched someone and they told me right away who was gonna be calling me. Then a little short while later someone called me from Adams, so I didn't have to reach out to them first. They made an appointment and it was hassle free and super fast. It was great turnaround time. The tech got it fixed by the time I came back in and check on him. It was great. This claim was better than the other one I had filed with AHS first. I had an air conditioner go out a year ago. It completely got burnt out. It need to be replaced and the item had to be ordered. My hot water heater died. The pilot light will go out every 12 hours or so. Wind Bender Mechanical came out and their tech had a mask on and wore shoe coverings when he came in. He also stayed six feet away. He tried to replace a thermocouple. But that didn't do it and they said I need a whole new hot water heater. Home Shield sent me an estimate of how much it's gonna cost to redo the hot water heater. But I don't fully understand all the various costs, like which of those are because things aren't up to code, how the process works if something's not up to code, and how they fix that. Other than that, I'm glad we have Home Shield.

My refrigerator kept turning on and off. We were gone a couple of days and our food was spoiled. We messed with the refrigerator and it would kick back on. That happened twice and we had to throw stuff out. So, we filed a claim to American Home Shield and their rep was good. Their guy from Repair My Appliance came and diagnosed our issue quickly. He said there was some kind of wire in the front which had a short and when we would turn the refrigerator off and on, we would hit it and the unit would kick back on.
The tech said he had the part with him and he replaced what we had. He didn't get our ice fixed though. I pointed that out but didn't make a big deal out of it 'cause the process for that takes a couple of months between filing the claim and ordering a part. Still, we don't have the shutting off problem anymore. Before we got this issue fixed, we wasted dollars 'cause we had to throw out a lot of stuff. The tech saved me a couple of hundred bucks if we kept going on without the repair. If we didn't have AHS, we would have had to either get our refrigerator fixed or buy a new one.

I'm an old lady and I get grumpy when I don't get my air.
I called American Home Shield back and they said that was not satisfactory. The rep got on the phone and got ahold of Mike from Empire. He was here in a very short time and fixed it. He was here until after 5:30 that evening to make sure I was up and running and I had air again. Not a whole lot of companies that would do that today because they don't care. Mike was awesome and I'd welcome him back again. Everything's been fine since he was here. I've been very happy with American Home Shield. When you turn the water on in the shower, it was pouring down from the valve stem. So we called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out right away, and he fixed it. They did great job. The first time I had to make a claim, American Home Shield was really good about it, and then they sent us a check on the refrigerator. What I was gonna do is put it on my credit card, and I was gonna pay for it when I got a check, take the money up to Lowe's and finish paying for it. I took it to the bank and they said, “This is referred to maker. We can’t cash it.”
I called American Home Shield, and it went back and forth about three weeks. Finally, they sent me another check. But in the process, somebody in the corporate office called me and said, “Look, they have a policy. They will not cash your check. You have to put it in a checking account.” I said, “Okay. But nobody told me that.” So that was the only issue I had there, but we finally got that situated. I wound up having to pay interest on that money because it took me longer to get it. Another thing is when you call and talk to somebody, the wait time is ridiculous. You call and the next waiting time is probably gonna be an hour and a half to two hours. “If you wanna hold on, hold on. If not, push a button and we'll call you back.” Other than that, everything's been good so far.

I've had two claims with Home Shield and it's been good so far. The ease of navigation online is pretty good. The only thing that I noticed is that I'm not really able to give a lot of detail about the issue that I'm having. It's only drop-down boxes. A & S Plumbing first came out for the tub in the main bath and then, when there was a leak that was coming from the ceiling in the bathroom downstairs. But when I had to file a new claim for the sink in the main bathroom two weeks after, they automatically assumed it was a recall. I said it was plumbing and that it was a leak and they assumed it was the same issue. The site wouldn't let me specify that it was different so when the tech came out, he was kind of confused.
Also, A & S came out for three plumbing issues and on my work order, it says they have to get authorization to order a part on one of the items but on the website, it says that all of it is complete. I thought we were waiting for somebody to give authorization for a part so they could come back out. Also, the tech turned my water off for that sink so we haven't been able to use that. I'm wondering if it is complete and closed or if somebody is coming back out because it's not really finished. But it went well with A & S. The tech explained everything thoroughly. He walked me through each item that I had an issue with and told me what he did. He even wrote the details on the paperwork. And he had his mask on and he wore protective little things over his feet. Each and every time he went out, he took them off and put it back on.

AHS is awesome. I have other property addresses and all three of mine are under American Home Shield. They are doing good. That's why I'm still with them. When we first called American Home Shield for a claim, the Freon of our AC was low. The contractor helped us refill the Freon. So it worked perfectly. Then, after the storm that we had, it just cut off the main switch from the circuit board. That was why the AC did not work perfectly. The technician came, found out and he turned it back on. So everything works perfectly again.
The technician also had a mask on when he got into my parents' house. Because my father liked to watch the technician, the technician explained to him that because it's COVID, my father had to stay back at least six feet away. But he showed my father what it was and he was pretty good about that. So far, there are no problems with American Home Shield. As soon as I get online, everything pops up pretty quickly. I also don't have to wait a long time for the process. Everything's perfect.

The door would not close all the way and so I was a little surprised that I was charged $15 for the part after American Home Shield charged me 125 for the contractor to come out. I would have thought that that part, which was a small one, would have been included in the 125. I could have called 495 Garage myself and paid 125 plus $15 for the part. It was a roller that was stopping it from going down the way that it should. The technician replaced that. I didn't have a problem with the company and the guy did a great job. He came in, assessed it, fixed it and left.
I’ve been with AHS for a year now but I also have Choice for my vacation home. I covered it for $2,500 for the next six years, which it comes out to be $34.72. AHS is charging me $54. I was going to call them because I was gonna complain about the 15 bucks that they charged me. Now, I was also going to ask them if could they have a better price than this $55 rounded that I'm paying every month. I had American Home Shield years ago. They started out with $50. Then, they went up to $85 and now, they’re up to $125 a visit. Those were major jumps. I’ve got to do something about this rate or I'm gonna jump to Choice. I would like to see them cut down on how much you have to pay when the people come. If you're gonna pay that kind of money, you can shop that enough. I could have gotten a handyman to come over here and do it for less.

One more day, it would have been exactly two weeks from the day my air went out before we got it repaired and we weren't pleased with that. We were told that the contractor would have to wait for AHS to order the part and send them the order number, which was what took the service guys so long to come back out to repair. I tried to be patient and wait but I wasn't satisfied with the turnaround time that we had. They were quick when they got it but to schedule to come back out just took so long.
You can't get anybody at American Home Shield. We had to stay on hold for hours and hours before we talked to anybody. That was my first time. I've used the insurance before but I never experienced anything like that. It was the communication. I'm trying to talk to someone and it wasn't good at all. I've been in this house for about 16 years and I have probably been with AHS for at least 14 years. The other times when I called them out to do service, they were right here. But it could be because of this time and with all the pandemic.
AHS had just sent someone out just to look at my air condition and it had been exactly eight months. Within eight months, if my compressor was going out, the service guy should have identified that at that time. But once they got it together, they said it was gonna take about three hours. But it was less than three hours before the service guy had it repaired. Also, he was very polite and professional. I've been with AHS too long just to discredit them totally but that was just a bad experience for me.

I'm so grateful that I ran across American Home Shield on the internet when I was searching for home-type warranties. They were the first one that popped up. There are a couple others but I did my research and I read all the comments I could find, and everybody with AHS seemed very happy. It took me a while to decide to take the policy out with them. I couldn't believe that I would pay my deductible and everything else would be covered. But I finally took a policy out not thinking I would ever have to use it and I’ve been with AHS for almost a year.
I'm caregiver for my mom and she gets cold early in the morning. I went to turn the heat on for her and it wouldn't come on. I'm not much of a mechanic so I was thinking what I was gonna do and I remembered the policy. The heating was covered. So, I used their website and as soon as I submitted the request, I got an answer back from American Home Shield with the information of who would be coming. It was the first time I used my policy and I was impressed. I got a call from the guy from Metropolitan on the very same day that I put the request in. I was not home at the time that he called me, so he couldn't come over. But the very next day, he was here. Paul, the guy who came out, was so friendly and showed me what was wrong. He said it was simple. Then he cleaned things up for us. He didn't have to do that. It's incredible. Metropolitan was fast and courteous.
AHS and Metropolitan both communicated very well and they were both awesome. It went very smoothly for me. It was amazing and I would encourage every homeowner to do it because it is well-worth it. I'm sold on AHS now more than ever. I don't wanna use the policy every time I turn around but if something major goes out, I have the confidence knowing that I’m covered. That's a wonderful feeling and I'm in love with the company. I can't believe that they do what they say they're gonna do. If you don't have a policy, get one. It takes so much stress off you as a homeowner.
If I could do a TV commercial for AHS, I would. When I told a friend how it works, he said that if they find a problem, they're gonna charge me for parts and they're gonna charge me for this. I said no and that if they can't repair it, they'll replace it. He didn’t believe that and I said that it's true. I'm sure AHS hears plenty of complaints but I am pleased with them. I don't even notice that I'm paying monthly because it comes right out of my account. They bill me and I don't have to worry about writing a check. I will keep them for the rest of my life.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The guy from Dill Appliance said there was no problem. He was there about five minutes and was gone. That's why we decided to go with another company and cancel American Home Shield. It seems like the repair services that they have contracted don't wanna be there and they don't wanna expel them. It's still a problem that they don't get cleaned. The guy didn't wanna spend any effort digging into it. The one I have now is part of my electric bill so it's a lot easier to deal with. There is no separate transaction.

I had been researching around for a while and kept coming back to American Home Shield. It was more upfront than anyone else so I went with them. Submitting a claim was quick. I take care of my elderly parents and I didn't want us sitting in the heat for too long. I mentioned that and it was taken into consideration. The contractor was here the next morning, so that was good.
Everything went well. I had a couple of extra questions and the technician took the time to answer them and show me. He was here for 30 minutes. He had his mask on and we social distanced. We had our masks on as well. The air conditioner is working but it sounds like it sucks in the filter and let's it go hard. Then, it goes on. I'm not too sure if that’s due to a filter but we hadn't had that issue before. Still, it has been good with American Home Shield so far and I only had to use them one time. I just barely joined the program and it was good service. I love the promptness, which is why I stay with the company when I do.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

I've had American Home Shield for about four years. I own two homes and I’ve had them on both of the homes. The garage door was not closing all the way. It would pop back up and with this specific problem, they responded quickly. And that was from the time I created a request till the gentleman was here actually fixing it. That was the fastest response time I'd ever received from American Home Shield so, I was kinda impressed by that. On the other hand, the most difficult time I had with them was on my other home trying to go through the process of repairing and replacing the air conditioning.
The home is in Louisiana and the air conditioner completely went out. AHS contracted a company out of Florida to come to Louisiana and this company was completely unprofessional. From the time I created the claim till the air conditioner was replaced, it was almost a year before it was completely done. I have tenants in that home and the repair gentleman showed up at 9 o'clock at night. He wouldn't have all the supplies and I came close to the point where I said I’m just gonna pay somebody just to come out and fix it outside of the warranty company. AHS said there was no other person that they contracted with in the vicinity of where the home was. It would be beneficial in certain areas, if they could expand the different companies that they contract with in cases where it's a great distance away.

My wife called American Home Shield for the washer and the contractor that came out seemed to do a good job. But we're still having a little bit of issue with it. With the connector that the tech fixed, you still have to put pressure on the door to get it to kick on and start. You have to kinda pressure your knee up against it and give it a little extra pressure on the door and it kicks right on. But it's working totally fine. So overall, the experience was fine. The service person that came in and worked on it seemed very nice and understood the problem. I'm totally happy with the service.
American Home Shield has been great. It's good to have because instead of having to pay $500 for somebody to come out and look at our washer, we pay our fee for the month and then we get them to come out. We had to replace our dryer at one point and the warranty was a huge help. We saved a couple hundred bucks for that. So overall, our experience with American Home Shield has been very, very good and we are very satisfied with it. It has saved us quite a bit of money over the last three years or so.

Home Shield was easy to use. I was a little disappointed that the coverage wasn't broader. But for what we were able to use it for, it was exactly what we need. We had purchased this new house. There was a sink in the kitchen where the faucet was leaking. It's a pull-out faucet in the sink. The spot where the hose connected to the head was leaking any time it was turned on. Our inspection report showed that the hot and cold supply lines were reversed from where they were supposed to be for safety reasons in two other faucet locations. We had them worked on three separate spots in the house.
I notified Home Shield through their website. It was easy to use and we did what we needed to. Home Shield that we should expect somebody to contact us within 24 or 48 hours. For the bar sink, Harvey's Plumbing & Drain researched what company the faucet came from and ordered the replacement. And then on the shower that has the hot and cold reversed, the tech took apart the handle and fiddled with it for a while and eventually got it. He said that was the hardest part. Harvey's was fantastic.

There were some issues with the air conditioner not cooling. The contractors that came had located a capacitor and the capacitor was what was keeping the unit from running. He replaced that and it's been good ever since. There have been other issues. There was a leak visible in our hot water heater. The plumbers that came out said that American Home Shield is extremely tight and cheap. He said, "We are told by American Home Shield that unless there's catastrophic water coming out and catastrophic water damage to your house, they wouldn't replace the hot water heater." We documented all that and I put it out on social media. People know how they're operating 'cause there's nothing American about this company. They even send all their phone calls over to the Philippines.
I had to go and I had to replace that hot water heater myself 'cause they were just surprised, even the plumbers that came out, that I had to hire to replace that hot water heater. I had it documented and we could see the water coming out. But unless it had to be gushing out, or it had to cause catastrophic damage to the house before they would replace the hot water heater. It's just our one term with American Home Shield and we don't plan on doing anything with them because of those issues with them.

American Home Shield’s better than the warranty company I used at my previous house. AHS is really fast with the response and getting an appointment set up and that's super critical to me as I want speed. When submitting the claim, you go to the website and just click toilet and then they assign you to somebody. The website’s easy to use.
We had a toilet-related issue. You could move the toilet around and we didn't want problems. A toilet’s not supposed to move and when it does move, it usually means that the seal underneath it is broken. I was assigned to SAP through American Home Shield. SAP called me and they set the schedule all up on the phone and then the technician called me 30 minutes before he got here. They were clean, courteous and willing to listen to the problem. But the technician kind of rushed through it to get in and out. He did not see that the seal was broken or anything. He just tightened two back screws on the toilet and said that it was good. It didn't feel like he really checked the toilet and made sure that the seal was not broken. But the toilet is not shaking anymore.

They came back for the rebuild and the technician said he looked at it and we tried it, and it goes up to about 325.
I called American Home Shield and went through ordering a new option. I had spoken with them three times and they promised to send me an email twice, and have not. The oven should be arriving today from J.B. Hunt and J.B. Hunt and they were supposed to contact us but I have not heard from them. Right now, I don't wanna wait on hold for another four hours to hear that it's in process. But if it doesn't show up tomorrow, I will be calling them and then not getting off the phone until I get an email showing me exactly what's going on. Last I heard, they still hadn’t found an installer. I told them to talk to Vlado as they do installations and he’s great. He’s very professional and AHS should use them for all the repairs. This is our third year with American Home Shield. Other than the hold times, they're very easy to work with and they're very efficient.

With people staying home because of the pandemic, things are breaking or they're noticing things they've been putting off.
Our hot water tank had a leak so I called AHS and told them about it and filed a claim online. Their website was simple enough. Then I got an email that said that they assigned it to bonafide Plumbing and that they'd be contacting us, but I called them. It took them a while to get the hot water tank in. I could have gone down to Home Depot or Lowe's and bought a water tank, put it in myself and had it done the same day. Other than that, they were able to replace our it.
It has been at least a month since our dishwasher has been bad. AHS said that I could call somebody for the dishwasher and I found one who could come out early. He came out, and then I had been reimbursed for the service call. But AHS said it was the main control board and they were gonna replace it. But I have yet to hear anything from them.

I just go online to my account, click what's wrong, and usually, I'm getting a callback within a few hours. If not, it’s the next day, so I'm not going without whatever it is that the issue is for too long. One time, I wasn't able to take a full shower with hot water. It started out hot and then it would be cold. AHS sent out the people quickly. It was a heating element and the company repaired it and then I had hot water that day.
I'm happy with American Home Shield and the only thing I would suggest is for people to go with the package that covers all areas. I know there are different packages and what they cover. My thought on it would be, "Okay, I'm not gonna need this or this," and then boom, that'd be the first thing that goes. I went with the one that covered every area. But that was the reason it was froze up and that was the reason the water was coming out the bottom of the refrigerator. He fixed it. He had to go get a part. He told me to unplug my refrigerator and let it sit for 48 hours and let that defrost in the back and it would do that. After that, he was able to come back and put the part in and it worked fine. He was a very nice gentleman. I've used American Home Shield for quite a while now. I've got it for my condos besides my home, and they do a decent job. It's very difficult to stay for one day. I spoke to a customer service agent yesterday. She told me that she would try to get another contractor to come over soon but I haven't received anything from it so far. I don't have any issues with any agent but the process is very frustrating. AHS has only one contractor and there is no other choice.
It's very hard to contact a person too. If I want to hold, then I have to be on the phone for more than an hour because it takes a long time to reach a person. It's very difficult and there is no other way to reach AHS. We don't have a choice. Yesterday, I tried one time for one hour then, it automatically turned off. I tried again. Probably, somehow, I was lucky and I got them after one hour but that is so long to hold on the phone and they have to improve. They have to have more customer service agents. Then they need to do some kind of online chatting, so that we can get them within a few minutes. I see chatting features even on small companies. It's very surprising that American Home Shield doesn't have this chat feature.

After purchasing a basic home warranty for our new house, I called to see what my options were if I wanted to upgrade to ShieldPlus. I really hope AHS looks back on that call record, because the salesperson I spoke with had clearly either woken up hungover or was drunk. Fine - let's say we overlook that because people can have bad days. But he couldn't even answer simple questions - e.g. "What is the difference between ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus, and what is the price differential if I wanted to upgrade today?" His consistent response: "I'm not sure." Then he takes a couple of minutes looking it up on his end and tells me that ShieldComplete covers everything. I reminded him I wanted to know about ShieldPlus (not ShieldCompletely), so he replies that there was no difference in price between the two plans.
When I told him that probably wasn't true, he said, "Uh..." and then went silent for another couple of minutes searching for the answer. Literally knew nothing. When I kindly asked him for his name, he gave it to me and then promptly hung up on me. Please - anyone - go back and listen on that call - for his sake, I won't post his name... but wow. I remained friendly to the end, but this was the most useless and incompetent call I've been on thus far. Very concerning because it makes me question how knowledgable their agents are in general... and makes me doubtful of future service if we ever need to call them about a service request.

We were members for many years. Our air conditioner had to be serviced almost every year, due to the AHS repairing to the most minimal fix. Finally after several years of AHS repair companies putting band aid repairs, in 2019, the repair company that AHS contracted submitted their assessment of our system. They submitted for a total replacement of the unit, which should have been done after the first 6 previous visits over the years. When AHS received the recommendation from their contracted repair company, AHS told us that they wanted a second opinion... I asked, "Why would you need that when it’s your repair company's recommendation?" No response.
The second repair company said that replacement was not needed. No surprise as AHS sent them to assure that’s the answer they received. We waited for two months for another bandaid repair. But nobody showed up and AHS repeatedly assured us that repair was coming. Then we were contacted by AHS and informed that we needed to obtain our own repair and would only be paid a portion of the bill. We asked why AHS can’t send their repair company. Our answer was almost unbelievable until we conducted further research. For the area of Tulsa, Oklahoma, within a 100 mile radius, AHS no longer has any repair companies that will contract with them. Not one repair company within 100 miles of Tulsa! That should tell you how shady AHS is when nobody, not even new startup companies will do business with them.
We talked to several companies that serviced our home over the years and they said AHS would never authorize them to actually fix issues if it meant any costly replacement. AHS is a sham. We now use Fidelity National Home Warranty. They replaced our AC unit with no issues! AHS, if you're reading this, we used to have contract #**. You lost our business and I truly hope people honestly reconsider ever sign over their money to you!

We bought our house in April of 2019 but I had no idea that I had Home Shield. Nobody bothered to tell me. If I had known that, I would have used the warranty for all the things that my husband and I had to do to this house to get it in living order. My sprinkler system never worked and I didn't know that they could take care of that. I put in over $2,000 worth of work into my sprinkler system. The electrical in this house wasn't up to code. It was only when I got a bill in the mail telling me that if I still wanted the Home Shield, I needed to start making payments or pay it off that I found out I had them.
Home Shield sucks and I don't like them. When I put in a claim because my dishwasher didn't work, they assigned Clark's Good Housekeeping Appliance Service to do the work. I had called several days in a row to make an appointment and I never got a callback. They never made an appointment with me and never showed up. I got ahold of Home Shield again and they had Good Housekeeping come out and they finally fixed it. I set the claim up on the first of July and on the 30th of July, they finally came out and fixed it. Right now, everything is okay. If I rinse my dishes off, my dishwasher will actually work.

Smith and Company came out for a condensation from the air conditioner into the basement. I called the claim in to American Home Shield. They said that I called at night, it was late, and they told me that the contractor would call me the following day. I waited until about 11:00, and when I called the contractor, I told him the situation, and they sent somebody out right away. They were good and professional. The repair helped because there's no more leaking water. It solved the problem. I've sent a couple of people to American Home Shield. I tell about them all the time to people I know.

I had been without an air conditioner for almost two weeks. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out who didn't fix the problem. So, I called them back and it was hard to get through to them. I'm 72 and I have lung problems so the heat really did me in. My granddaughter and daughter-in-law helped me a lot to get things done and get a hold of AHS.
They finally texted me that another contractor called TexAire was coming out. The tech who came out for that company thought he fixed my unit but he didn't. Come to find out, TexAire had to replace a coil in my house system. They also replaced something outside. They were super nice and informative. After all the rigmarole, we got things done with Home Shield. Since they've helped me and finally came through, I'm gonna keep them for a while.

The coverage of American Home Shield is good as most of the time, we get somebody come and take a look at whatever is wrong at a very decent amount of time. Usually, it's not that late. Mostly the delays we have encountered are when the company has to order a part and the part doesn't come in on time. But other than that, we have never had issues.
We're pleased with American Home Shield. We had some issues with Green Bay Home Services. But this last one that came in, that company was really good. We really liked the technician and the way they dealt with everything. The first time they came in, they needed a part, so then they ordered the part and then came back. The same person came both times and we were pleased with the technician and the service. It's working perfectly now.

I had two toilets. One was loose and I thought maybe it needed a new flange. Cascade Plumbing came out and the plumber said that it needed to be reshimmed and caulked down the bottom, while the other toilet needed new insides to the tank. They did a great job, they were in and out in no time, and I appreciated that. The toilets work fine now.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I called and said what the issue was. I got an email back that said, “This is what's happening. They should be in touch with you soon.” They gave a text. “Here's the phone number that you can call”. I proactively called. That’s great with me. As long as I have the needed information like the contact details of the business, that was perfect. That was the first call I've ever made using the warranty. But so far, it was very easy. Home Shield asked for the $75 payment right upfront. That's just easier because that way, I don't have to think about getting a bill and would there be some hidden costs associated with it. It was just the $75, paid it, person came, fixed it, done.
Prestige Plumbing Services did a great job. The tech communicated with me via text, and then we sorted out a date and time for him to come over that was convenient for me. He showed up, looked at the issue and talked to me about it. He showed me what he was doing while he did it, which I appreciated. He then went to his truck, got the parts that he needed and fixed that. He also talked to me about a couple questions I had regarding if there was any follow-up or anything else I need to do, filled out the paperwork, and he was done very quickly. He was very good. He didn't wanna use my towels because we were in my master bedroom. But he asked, “Can I have some paper towels, please miss?” Also, he had his mask. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer experience.

The guy that came out for our claim was really nice. But he told me that the problem was actually the electrical and not anything to do with the dryer itself. He said that he tested the outlet and the outlet for the dryer was the problem. He was like, “You have to call an electrician for that.” We have an electrician that we've gone through for a while now. So he came over. He had bought the part. Then when he came over, he said it was not electrical, it was not the plug, but the problem was the dryer. He said that the dryer was getting power. He showed me the power in the dryer.
I was disappointed because I spent 80 for the guy to come out and then he told me it was electrical and then I spent 135 for my electrician guy to come out. Now I'm still left with no dryer. I was about to call the company this week to see if they can come back out again. It’s the first time something like this happened. Otherwise, the experience with AHS has been okay. We had the refrigerator replaced previously and it was hard to get ahold of people, but I know that everything was going down with COVID. Everything seems to be good, things just take a little bit longer, but we're patient.

The air conditioner wouldn’t stop running. I had to go and manually turn it off and turn it back on. I called American Home Shield and they were helpful. I ended up having to call the contractor though because I wasn't hearing from anybody. When they came out, the guy made the assumption and replaced the thermostat. That was it. I said, “My air conditioner’s old. Do you think there might be something else wrong with it?” He said, “No, this is the thermostat. If it’s not, just call us back.” I thought it would be another 100 bucks but it worked. I didn't have to manually control the air conditioner anymore. This claims experience with American Home Shield was good.

The toilet wasn't flushing completely and there was also a leak behind the shower. I was not impressed with the previous other people that came before for the leak in the bathroom. The guy said that it was an air conditioner problem. I told him that I had a leak with that as well. He said he gotta follow exactly what the ticket says, “Leak in this bathroom only.” He said that I have to make another claim. He was lazy. He smelled like cigarettes and was not friendly nor informative. He said that it was not his problem or it was not something he'd handle. I have to pay 75 again.
Then Sewer Medic came out and they were absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, and fantastic. They walked me through and told me what they were doing and why. I could not recommend them enough. They fixed everything and followed-up two days later and that if the air conditioning isn't running as cool, give them a call and they'd come right back. They wanted to make sure my experience is good.
American Home Shield makes it easy in doing claims online but I'm old school so I'd like to speak to a person. But I understand with the pandemic, the wait time is like an hour to two hours and there are limited staff. That's a little disappointing. However, I'm gonna renew and I'm happy with the service. AHS very inclusive, they have everything except the kitchen sink on it. I think they need to have that on the policy. Overall, they are great.

One of my valves was loose and that allowed the Freon to leak. American Home Shield sent two contractors on two different days. The first appointment was not effective, while the second contractor was very helpful and he seemed to be more knowledgeable in terms of diagnosing the problem. He wore a mask as a precaution too. He tightened the valve, put some sort of sealant on it and installed a couple of pounds of the Freon refrigerant. He not only solved my problem, but he also did some preventative maintenance in terms of changing my filter and that kind of thing to overall service my unit. I thought it was great service.
I normally call American Home Shield and when I do, it's not easy to get someone to pick up the phone. I also feel like it's expensive. The cost of my home warranty has increased steadily for the last five years and I don't understand why. At some point, it's cost-prohibitive, paying the monthly fee versus how much I actually use the warranty plan. So I'm gonna have to make a decision if it's worth it moving forward. Another thing is the $75 service fee, which I think should be a sliding scale. If the job takes more than 30 minutes, maybe $75. If it takes five minutes to plug something in, then it should be $35 or something.

I bought my house in 2001 and off and on, we've had American Home Shield for almost 20 years. We let it lapse for a little bit, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with them for the last 20 years. That's why I recommend my friends. I also referred my boyfriend because he's taking care of his mom's house. However, this is the first time that I recommended to somebody and they've had nothing but issues. Their air conditioner is still not working, and this has been since May. We have had people go out there three times and the AC works as soon as the technician's there. He turns it on really quick, but as soon as he leaves, it stops working.
When my boyfriend is trying to call back and every time he tries to get in to submit another claim, he can't get through. It's a long hold/wait to try to get ahold of somebody and then he gets on the list for a callback, and he doesn't get callbacks. He's busy at his work, so he can't be on the phone the whole time holding either. In my experience though, I've done everything online and it's been fine. When my dryer wasn't heating up anymore even though it was still working, AHS had Foster's Appliances come out. The gentleman who came over was awesome and it was nothing but a positive experience with him. The issue was the pilot light and he had the part with him and then he replaced that. Definitely would wanna use them again, but hopefully, I don’t have to.

Our air conditioning was leaking profusely and we were advised to turn it off before it shorted out everything in the system. We used the internet to ask for an appointment and American Home Shield sent me immediately who would be doing it, what day and the approximate time it would happen. They also recommended that I could call the company myself, so I did that. I spoke to a representative of the company and they said that if they can make it sooner, they would. Unfortunately, that weekend, they could not.
When Quality Air came out, they did all the right things. We're in a condo and they came in, evaluated everything, went on the roof, and looked at the compressor. They came to a unit that is in our apartment and went to where the piping takes the water away, and that was clogged. They showed me that and ran air through it and did whatever they do. They showed me how it was cleaned out and then, within an hour so, they had our air conditioning working fine and dandy. The issue was rectified and everything's been running fantastically since. So, I'm very comfortable now. In summary, American Home Shield has been excellent. We've been with them for as long as we've been here (almost five years), and they've come through every time.

We've lived in this house for 30 some years. We've had American Home Shield since then. I also own the house that my daughter is living in, and it also has American Home Shield. I've only had one extremely difficult experience as far as submitting claims. My house is close to 40 years old, and so all the original things are starting to wear out. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit. I have one on the north side and one on the southeast side of the house because the house is one level long and the one on the southeast side wasn't blowing hot air.
I called American Home Shield. They sent someone out. My only problem with American Home Shield is knowing the age of the house, they still wanted to repair this outdated air conditioner. So, the people came out and they said that it was some kind of pump, and they would have to take out the Freon and then replace it. Then they said, “But American Home Shield would only pay a very small percentage, and you would have to pay for the rest of it to be filled.” I thought that was not quite right because the whole amount had to be replaced. I started thinking about it. It's an air conditioner and heater unit combined and I had been changing the filters on the inside heater. The front of that case and the hose had smoke damage where it’s had a small flame come out at one time. I had not noticed it because my husband did that. When he passed away, then I had to do all these things.
I had made a decision that I wanted to replace it rather than repair it because of the expense that I was gonna have to pay. So I said, “No, let's just replace the whole thing.” It was $7,000 and it took about four months to get it replaced. American Home Shield was doing their part because they wouldn't pay for the full thing. I understood that but there's got to be a time factor where a unit is no longer serviceable properly and outdated. Two young men came in in their own private trucks to do the work, and they went down the hall and talked and talked. Then one of them would pick up their phone and call. They didn't know what they were doing was what it amounted to. The guy came in once or twice, checked in, and left. He talked to them, and didn't speak to me. When the inspector came to check the work, he implied that it was not the best quality.
The inspector spent over an hour checking it and there were 22 violations on that repair job. Also, before the the guys were through, they said I'll have to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a pump to recycle the water out of the unit. I said, “I paid $7,000 for a complete unit. It's there. You have to fix it.” They said, “No, we can't complete the job.” So, I went out and I bought this $50 pump. They put it in and this is where I got angry. They used those little tubes they used for the water sprinkler systems and then they took a little plastic tube and put it over that and connected it to the tube that was already there to make the connection to make it go out of the house.
One day, there was water in my hallway. That was when I realized that it wasn’t all done. So, that was a fiasco that should never have happened to anybody at any time. I don't know how AHS vets their companies, but they should have some kind of rating. If it was a new company and they didn't have any rating, I can understand. This is in the middle of the summer in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was 110 and 112 degree weather. I'm just fortunate I had a second unit and I can sleep in my family room on the other side of the house.
That was a horrible thing. There should be a life expectancy of any item. When it exceeds that beyond, there’s gotta be a place where you can say, “Okay, you've had this long enough.” I've paid for more than one air conditioner living here 30 years so it's not a matter of that. It’s a matter of taking pride in AHS' company and doing the job that their customers deserve. They're in the business for money. I worked in customer service for 22 and a half years. If you want to be an excellent place, you have to give excellent service. Still, I've been happy with them so far.

The tenant reported to me that there is some Freon missing. I called and I spoke with a live person from American Home Shield. Our interaction was fine, but I was expecting that he's gonna recall because we tried to fix that air conditioner many times. We paid $100 for them to it and they didn't fix it. So, he charged me $100 again. I told him, “How come you charge me another 100 while we keep calling for the same item, and never was fixed?” He said, “No. But that's been three months. So we cannot recall.”
Sun Powered Solutions came out and they asked me for $92 because American Home Shield only gave me $10 discount for the pound of Freon. I had to give the tech the credit card so he could perform that. I didn't have any report from the tenant whether that resolved it or not. I had a problem with the tenant since they don't give me enough information about what happened. They only give me information if something is not working. But if it's working, they don't say anything.
I have four properties with American Home Shield. The performance with them is not up to the task. I had another problem in San Miguel. I had a dishwasher issue and Sears was assigned. They came and said, “We have to replace the whole thing.” There was only leak coming out of the dishwasher. But they said there is a limitation on my items. They didn't say what kind of limitation, they didn't come back to fix or replace the dishwasher, and it’s gonna pass three months and then after that, I have to pay another $100 to fix it.
I'm not happy but I'm not very dissatisfied. But I really on the side of dissatisfied more than I’m on the side of satisfied because there is no follow up. I’m like the middleman. Whether an issue is completed or not, they have no idea because they don't contact me to say, “Is it completed, really?” I need somebody to do the job, but it’s not doing it. It’s kind of I need a warranty, but at the end, I'm gonna vote when I'm gonna renew. If I'm still not happy, I'm gonna vote them out like I did with the previous warranty I had. I moved two properties to Home Shield, but if the renewal is coming, I'm gonna vote out the four properties out of Home Shield. I mainly pay $600 to warranty the house for a year. $600 a year is lots of money, especially when you have five properties. It is $3,600. I pay all that and I don't get results.

There was something going on with the septic system. In the backyard, there were some areas where you can see water was pooling, and the septic lines run back there. So, we called Home Shield. It took about five days for the people to come out. When Discount Plumbing got out there, the guy was a moron and pretty much said, "Well, I'm not licensed to work on septic systems." He said he could lose his license if he touches a septic system. They didn't do anything. I just wasted 70 bucks.
The septic system is outside the home. I told Home Shield that when I first called. They called me back and said, "Oh, well, it doesn't cover things outside of the home anyway." I wish I had known that before I waited seven days before. I just called the septic system, and luckily, since it's a new house, it was covered under a warranty for the septic system itself. Had I waited five more days, I would have been out of warranty for my septic system and I would have been really pissed. But luckily, Home Shield came in within five days because it was built a year ago. Now, it's a year and however many days. American Home Shield sent Walston Mechanical, and they ended up having to replace all the parts inside the actual toilet because they were old and they couldn't be replaced. They did a good job and everything worked out fine. I hadn't had any difficulty with American Home Shield's claims process other than the internet part of trying to do a claim. For some reason, I'm not able to do it anymore. They haven't resolved the problem of the internet of me being able to do internet claims. When you go to their site to try to reset your password, for some reason, it doesn't send back to my email. I don't know what's going on, but it's been an issue that has not been able to be resolved. Other than that, I do the claims by phone.
Everything's good. I know they've had some problems with locating companies in our area for certain things before. As far as the company's response time, I know they call you back within 24 hours, and then they're gonna give you an appointment. If that happens in the dead of summer or in the winter when it's freezing out, you could get a four or five-day lag time before your issue is resolved which is kinda difficult. But the plan itself is great because you can replace your air conditioning unit for an $80 fee. It’s worth the wait. I've recommended multiple people to them.

We're still having the issue. We didn't really feel comfortable so we ended up having to get a second opinion. The next people that are coming out is Fox. The guy at Fox said it could not be what Frog said. Fox is supposed to be out here some time Friday. Frog said because our AC is making a whistling sound it was the coils. But the funny thing is the guy never even opened up the system. If you don't open up the system, how are you supposed to know it’s the coils? We explained it to the guy from Fox and he said there's no way it could be the coils. The guy from Frog wanted to upgrade or something to do with code with the AC. We asked why we needed something updated or to code. It's a nine-year-old house and I don't think it's all that old. We got the impression that they were trying to rip us off and American Home Shield.
We haven't had any problem with American Home Shield because they did not argue when we explained to them what was going on. I was happy that they were willing to let us have a second opinion. They said they'd get us somebody else but if they agree that it's the same that Frog said, they'll charge us another $75 which is fine. That's only fair.
The guy whom we bought the house from went ahead and got a one year contract with American Home Shield and paid for it. We went ahead and kept up with it and we've had them for 2 years now. I tell my husband we need to make sure we keep them up to date so we'll be with them as for as long as I have a house. It’s all good. The only thing I cannot stand about American Home Shield is it’s too long of a wait. Every time you call them, it takes an hour to get through and it has always been like that. My husband hates even calling them.

I usually get a call back from somebody within a couple of hours, which is not very long at all. They sent out 3 Boys Appliance Repair for my dishwasher claim and they did a good job. They fixed my dishwasher and taught me a couple of things about my dishwasher that I didn't know. I have yet to have a poor experience. I even had another call after the 3 Boys Appliance came for the dishwasher. My oven burned up a cooling fan just a couple of weeks ago so they came and fixed that. That was good. I've been hit with about $300 worth of payments that I've made and the jobs are either incomplete or not at all. We had a leaky outside faucet and it was leaking quite a bit. I paid my $75 due to Home Shield, and Plumb Genius came out, and supposedly, the guy fixed it. It was pouring down rain, so I took him at his word and didn't think anything else about it. A few more days and the wife and I were outside and she said the thing was still leaking. In an hour's time, we could fill up a gallon bucket three times. I called Plumb Genius back and they said we needed to do Home Shield. I got ahold of Home Shield and they said they'd get them back out. Plumb Genius then called me on a Monday and said they couldn't come out until the following Monday.
I told them we were losing a lot of water and I had to get them then. They said that was the only thing they could do and if I wanted to, they could come out that day for $135. I told them I already paid money to them and the guy didn't fix it right, and they said there was nothing they could do. I called Home Shield and they said that was all that could be done at the moment other than waiting for my normal appointment. I then called Plumb Genius back and told them to come on out here and get it done. The guy then came out and I had to help him. In fact, I installed the faucet while he held the pipe inside. Then we had another service call for a drain in our master tub or/and shower that he performed after that half-**.
What happened was he had his little handheld snake that he put down the drain that was only good for 10, 15 feet. He never reached the main problem and I already paid $75 for this particular service call. He said he was gonna have to bring another snake out. He also said that if that didn't do it, then they would have to get up on my roof, but that was not covered under the warranty. That was $200-something as well. I said I understood that and it was if that had to come to it. He said if that didn't come to it, then they would have to do a camera down the drain. I said okay, so I thought I'd hear from him, but I didn't. By this time, I've noticed outside that the new faucet had not been screwed to the house. You can pull on it and it's still not attached, so that part was not finished.
I called Plumb Genius back and I said I needed to find out when they were going to get the drain taken care of. The lady said to let her talk to the technician because they had not had any information sent to them yet. I said okay. That was several days and I was surprised. She called me back and said they needed to go down my roof. I said we were not gonna do that. I told her that the technician said he was going to put a longer snake down the drain, but she said that was what he had on his report and it was gonna be $200-something for them to come out there. I've already paid money for them to come and do it and she insisted that it was gonna be $200-something. I said I was gonna contact Home Shield and when I did call, I complained to them.
They said they would call Plumb Genius. They called me back and said the report that they had and that the company was giving them was that they needed to go down the roof and that was what I was gonna have to pay. I was not giving that company another dime, so I called somebody else. Lo and behold, running a longer snake down the thing fixed the problem. I also told Home Shield I didn't want Plumb Genius in my house again then they told me if they had to send somebody else, I'd have to pay another service fee. I went down that road already and needless to say, once my contract is up, I will not be reinstating with them. I'm not happy at all.

I've been an American Home Shield customer for the last three years and I don't see it ending any time soon. My daughter had another company and they are totally horrendous. Now, they're with American Home Shield. Recently, I had a claim for an air conditioner. It was the outside unit and the fan quit working. I was informed to expect the contractor to contact me within 24 hours and if I wanted, I could call them earlier, which I did, to get them out there sooner. Airtronics is a great company. The guy's very personal, very professional, so there are no issues with them. He fixed the problem right away and didn't have to wait for a part. He had the part on the truck.

The leak is recurring now and we have to pay a separate fee to have the contractor come out again to look at it. But the rep from Modern Plumbing & Heating was nice and he was wearing a mask. It took about a week and a half for him to come out since I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. It was a little slow but better than two weeks. I did the claim through the app and one technical difficulty I had was that there wasn’t a way to change the order. I thought there was one issue with the bathroom but it turned out there were two so, I had to call. There should be an easier way to update the request on the app.

The first time I submitted a service order was online, but this time, I called because I know sometimes it takes several days to get a response on an e-mail. It was really hot and someone on a rental home that we have had an air conditioning issue. I needed an immediate answer or I could get another company to come out to help. At this time, American Home Shield needs more operators because it was a long wait time. Apart from that, I was notified that I would receive an email or some kind of contact from them and they also said it may take up to two days.
It was our first time in Portland to be at 96 degrees and at first, it took forever to get ahold of Paragon Mechanical. It was difficult to get through and they weren't answering phone calls. It was not great, but I understand that there were a lot of people calling because everybody needed their air conditioner fixed. I take it they were completely overwhelmed. In the end, they got their stuff together. Even though it took a very long time, they managed to get out, get the work done and repair everything. Everything seems to be working now and staying functional as well. It's the middle of summer so our tenants needed to have the air conditioner fixed for their comfort and the repair helped.

American Home Shield has been good and I would recommend them. I wish they had a little bit different service people though. I'm still waiting for my refrigerator to be repaired. I called the guy at S&G Repair. He put in a part and the part ended up being bad. He was supposed to order a new part and put it in, and I called them on it and I gave him the service number too. He has not called me back yet and this has been ongoing for four months now. On the other hand, it was quick when the guy from Turner Electrical and Lighting came out. It worked out really good too. He was able to find the problem quickly and fix it, and he was super nice. He also took precautions, including wearing a mask. He did a great job.

Originally, Prime Plumbing came out because the faucet in my hallway bathroom was constantly leaking. When I did the claim, I put down two faucets. I did the hallway bathroom and the master’s bathroom as well. But when the tech came, he was only focused on the hallway one because at the time, the master’s one was not leaking that bad so it kinda slipped my mind. But right when he left, it started leaking. So he came back today to look at my bathroom and to figure out what the issue was and he said it's more something with my water pressure that's going on. He said the part that he needs to order is kinda hard to find, and with everything going on right now with COVID-19, he said things are kinda backed up. But he said he was definitely gonna keep me posted and if he finds one really soon, then he'll place the order for it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Home Shield. But with the whole COVID-19 thing going on, the workers should wear a mask.

My air conditioner backed up, so it wet my hardwood. When I called my insurance company, in order for me to have them replace it, come out and get it dry, I had to have a them come out to flush or blow it out. Then, they put the air pressure through it and blew it out. After, the guy said everything was okay. I asked them to also check the air conditioner out while he was here, but he said everything was okay after that. But it backed up and overflowed in the wall. And that way, it kind of leaked over my floors and everywhere.
I submitted a claim with AHS online and their website was great. I did it one night and the contractor, Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery, called me the next morning, which was perfect. I really didn't expect for them to get back with me that early the next morning, but they called me about 7:30 Central Time. They told me that they received my claim and that someone would be out around 4:00, but they came earlier. So that was great also. In the end, they were able to rectify my problem. All in all, AHS is a great company. When I signed up with them, I had been receiving emails for a while and they had a great discount at the time. They were also recommended to me by my daughter and my son. So I finally applied for it and it was really beneficial when I had a problem. Otherwise, I probably would've been out a lot.

When we were having the issue, we went through the website and it was great. I like the fact that I can just go in and click and schedule appointments. I wish I could pick certain days. Clear Horizon’s Construction came out to fix the light. It was a dimmer switch and they replaced it to a regular three-way light. But then my house has a ridiculous number of light switches so it’s not on them for picking the wrong one. But they tried to make sure all the switches were working and they couldn't get the light to work so they said they needed to request time to come back. No sooner do they pull out of our driveway, my husband went over to the light switch that wasn't working and flicked it and it worked.
They came in, they figured out what the cause of the problem was and fixed it, even though they thought they didn't. My lights are working so I'm happy. I recommended American Home Shield a couple of weeks ago to one of my coworkers. She was talking about some of the things that she had to fix at her house. I told her that she should get this and she was looking into it.

I got notified when the service was assigned and got called the next business day from the contractor. He told me the appointment on when he would be here. He was quick and efficient. He fixed it the first time, had the part, and he threw it in and everything works. The repair lets my garage door go up and down with a button. There was some water coming from under the sink and I didn't wanna screw it up. There was water all on the floor. We stopped using the sink until we had someone come out. They came to the house and check everything but they could not find the leak. My wife was there that day and the gentleman explained and showed everything to her. We haven't noticed anything else.
It wasn't the pipe because once you open the underneath, there would have been water on that board. But there was no water there on that surface. We had taken everything out and we put paper towels down there but there was no water there. The water was on the floor itself. It was like it came from behind the sink area drain on the floor. It never touched the inside where you'd keep your Comet and all your cleansers.
I took a plunger and started plunging. That was when the water showed up on the floor. But underneath the sink itself where the wood was, there was no water. It was all on the floor. You can see the garbage disposal and all the pipes. I immediately open that and filled up all around those things, to look for some water, but there's no water there which was strange. American Home Shield quickly got somebody that knew what they were doing and very professional.
I was very dissatisfied with American Home Shield when we put in another claim. We find gritty, grainy, and sandy stuff all over the counters and the floors every day. We changed the filters and we got to clean every day. But we would still get this grit and grime and it was coming out of the vents. We even sealed the doors 'cause it might be coming in through there, but it was still there. So we decided to call it in and American Home Shield hired some joke young man. He came out to the house and did all of his inspections. He then said that we were having a duct problem and that we needed ductwork up on our air ducts. He said that it needed some kind of a seal and it would take something and go in and clean our ducts, but his company didn't do that.
The technician recommended a company in San Antonio that does the Aeroseal. Then he said the only other option was to bypass the air conditioning system in this home and put in a new type of air conditioning without ducts. My wife got excited about this new system they got going. But I wanted them to get back with American Home Shield and let them know about this other company that would do the Aeroseal.
American Home Shield called to ask how was the work done. I told the lady that we were still getting the grit and grime. Then she said that the company hadn't sent in a report. So my wife got on the phone and called the technician and asked him to send his report into American Home Shield so they could see what he recommended. The technician said that he would send a report the next day. Well, I waited for two days and I got no call. I called American Home Shield again and I got the same young lady. She said that she didn't get anything. She put me on hold and called the technician again. She said that the tech would send the report by close of business that day and the young lady would call me back the next day. Well, that never came too.
A week passed by and I called the lady again and the technician still hadn't send the report. I told her that the technician was not gonna send it and they would not get anything from him. What he was trying to do was to get them to put in these new units that he installed in his home. He wanted somebody to pay for that and I didn't think that it was needed. But based on his recommendation, this issue needed this Aerosol thing from this other company. The lady kept believing him that he was gonna send the report since he was on contract with AHS. But the problem was the technician couldn't fix it. So I told her that this technician's company was outdated and they couldn't do what he claimed to be needed for this home.
The particles are not as heavy as they've used to be 'cause we keep changing these filters out. But the problem wasn't going away. We paid $75 but the technician didn't do anything. He was all hot air. I also told the lady from AHS that this technician would no longer be welcome on my property again. He's a liar and I don't trust him. She told me that I couldn't get a different person until I could get the report from this guy. I told that that they had been trying for three weeks to get this report and it wasn't gonna happen. They kept promising and telling me that they would call me back and that never happened.

American Home Shield's service used to be really good. Now, they are letting people go because of the pandemic. I don't hear my doorbell well and they always send me an email so I can read from my computer that my technician is on his way. I called three times and sat on hold forever. Three times their rep told me that they would send me the email but they never did. So, I sat from 6:00 am to 8:00 am with no TV just so I could hear the doorbell.
Before, when I called Home Shield for our garage door. As soon as I called, AHS took my $75. I got an email saying who is gonna come out for my issue and an hour later, the contractor would call to set up an appointment. We called AHS for a third time then since our garage door still wasn't fixed. Home Shield then sent somebody out who fixed our issue.
Another time, one of AHS's contractors fixed our broken kitchen faucet. While the tech was alright, he put the cold water opposite where it should be. Now, I have to all the way over to the right to get hot water. Plus, the water doesn't get really hot. More recently our ice maker broke. I also have an oven claim with Home Shield and that still hasn't been fixed. They say they can't get parts because of COVID. They also said that they were gonna give me money to replace what I had. But then, for the amount of money they want to replace my oven for, nothing available is as good as the one I had. Plus, what I used to have matched all my other appliances. Our oven was not igniting. When the nice gentleman came out, our operation’s panel of the stove and oven shattered. It's like safety glass and it was all shattered and cracked, but everything still works. But we were afraid it was gonna fall apart. So I asked him if it was fixable and if they have any recourse on this. He said he would put in a claim and see what happens. It's no harm if he puts in a claim. If it gets approved, great. If it doesn't, that's fine too. We'll fix it on our own or have him come back and fix it and we'll pay him. He's a very nice guy.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. The last two contractors that came out for the oven and the microwave were very nice guys. They were very skilled. They were not dummies by any means. But we were waiting three or four weeks for parts. How come they don't have parts in stock? The microwave part was like some abstract part that took close to a month. But the guy had all CDC precautions, mask and social distancing. He squared away. But the other guy that came out three weeks later had no mask. We're being very careful with the COVID thing because we have a son-in-law that's fighting cancer. So that was a minor issue. We just stayed away and let him do his job and then deconed after. But overall, we were happy.
I almost cancelled American Home Shield before. But lo and behold, the hottest period of June of 2014 and my wife had just got laid off and then our air conditioner went out. I tried the claim with American Home Shield and I wrote them a check for 75 bucks. The contractor came out and replaced the capacitor very quickly. The tech had the part in his pocket and the air conditioning was back on. American Home Shield was awesome. After that, there were little things like the garage door spring went out. One of the best door companies in Reno was out here the next day and fixed it. We've had other issues with our garage and they've been out. I also bought the pool coverage and when the heater went out we got a new heater. I would recommend them. American Home Shield has been great for us.

He had another disposal ready if I needed it but he was able to find something lodged in there which stopped it from working. Thankfully, everything is fixed. I did the claim online because last year, it was really difficult getting somebody on the phone with AHS. When I do, I don't know if they have it subcontracted to the call centers overseas but they didn't quite understand what I was saying. Maybe it was because they weren't aware but I was referring to my wine fridge and my extra faucet, the pot filler, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I asked if I could speak to somebody domestically and I couldn't get anything through. I am not happy with the call center. When I'm able to do an appointment online, it's fine, but calling is miserable.
Nevertheless, we just renewed with American Home Shield. I like having a warranty. I was with Service America for 20 years where it was always a Service America employee that came. Sometimes they were good, sometimes they weren't. Now, it's an adjustment dealing with independent companies which in a way I kinda like supporting small independent companies so I don't have a problem with it.

The AC unit inside was leaking water and it was a decent-sized pool of water. We had a water sensor on our floor that picked that up and alarmed. The claim was put through to AHS and then, we were assigned United Air Temp. They did a good job the first time in assessing but we couldn't duplicate the result. After we dried up the water, it didn't leak again the next day. So, they didn't have anything to base on to figure out where the leak was coming from. But they identified that we had a clogged filter so they replaced that with one that we had sitting there. We just did not replace it in time. That there was some backup could be an issue and so, that was causing some additional work that the AC was having to put out, with it being so hot, that they thought that was something that they could at least try.
A couple weeks later, we had the same issue, and the same company came out again. This time, they decided to see if there was a clogged drain. They said they were gonna cut the pipe where the water drains out of and clean it out, and they did. They said they found some debris and that might be enough to make it back up enough to leak. Ever since they did that, we haven't had an issue. So, they were very good at communicating what they were doing for us and acted quickly. They were very professional as well as respectful of the whole COVID situation. They didn't do anything that made us uncomfortable. So overall, it was a very good experience. We would welcome that company to be called out again.
It’s nice to have that protection and peace of mind that we know we can call American Home Shield. It's always a $75 service fee for someone to come out, which, on top of the premium, can be an additional cost, but you have to do it. It's a reasonable cost to have someone, for them to reach out to people and coordinate the visit. So, it's a convenience that is worth the price at the end of the day. We haven't had a situation where we had to fight them in terms of feeling like we need a thing replaced because supposedly, they pay for a replacement of something. Which is really why we have the insurance, in case there's a big cost that hopefully that they would absorb. We haven't been in a situation where we've had to replace any units or any appliances but for what we've had to deal with, it's been a positive experience for the most part.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

There was another sink that the stopper was not popping up, and he replaced it as well.

My air conditioner stopped cooling. I had my thermostat set at 75, which is what I normally keep it set at, and the temperature in the house started rising to 82. So, I made a ticket for a claim with AHS and they sent Thermal Heat and Air out. It was hot that night because they wanted me to shut down the AC and leave it off overnight. But at least the tech came out the next day. He fixed the problem and it was something in the wiring on the compressor outside. He took care of it and within an hour he was gone. So I was satisfied.
I've also made service requests before and I've felt like AHS wants you to be able to specifically identify what the problem is with your appliance, but sometimes you can't do that. Also, sometimes the office person that calls on the contractor's behalf to schedule the appointment can be a bit rude for some reason. That phone call can turn you off because their customer service is not the greatest and all they're doing is scheduling the appointment with you. But when the technician gets here, it's like night and day. They’re great.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The dishwasher wouldn't drain and it didn't take long for the tech that AHS sent out to figure that out. He had to order a new part for that then he got back quicker than I expected with the part. Apparently, where he had to order it from had it in stock. Then, he got it fixed and the repair took less than an hour. He got my dishwasher running again and it works well so far. We're really happy with the repair. And I really like him. He was really nice and friendly. He also explained what was going on and took care of business. We had a claim on our refrigerator freezer, too. The freezer would not defrost and the guy who came out fixed that. What happened was, the drain pan or something clogged, and he declogged everything. We haven't had any problems with it since.
But when I first got AHS, they had a rate and they bumped the rate up the next year but didn't even notify me that the rate was going up $14 a month. So that didn't make me very happy. I would have liked to known that my rate was going up $14 a month. If they would have told me that, I might have told them that we could negotiate or I might drop them. But it worked out this time for us to still have them. Other than that, the people they've had come out and done the work have done a good job. When they assign somebody, I look them up and see what other people have said on Google and what have you. In fact, a couple of them rated them lower, but when the people came out, I didn't have any problems and I've been happy with their work.
I am glad to hear you are happy with your experience with us so far. Thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for recommending us. Take Care.

We’d heard great things about AHS. It has been almost a month since submitting a service request and we are still unsure of the status. We have been assigned three different contractors (The first two after I had spent time on hold trying to figure out what was going on since it had been days since calling). The first never called back, the second called back and did a service call but found out by calling AHS to check on status that they canceled. This was never communicated at all. We were assigned a third contractor who was great, diagnosed the problem and told us what his next steps were... but we have still not received any updates from AHS about next steps. If this is quick and easy service as promoted on their website, it’s a rather slow and difficult interpretation of those words.

I filed a claim to have some appliances repaired on 07/18/2020. Five service contractors, numerous phone calls, countless hours of being on hold to try and reach a live person and almost a month later (08/11/2020) and my appliances were still not fixed. I asked to have email communication since it was so hard to reach anybody, and they could not accommodate me. To reach the purchasing department has a minimum of 2-4 hours of being on hold without being given an option to have a call back when someone is available. Impractical, unaccommodating, and very poor customer service. Total waste of time and money.

Such a HORRIBLE experience with the technician AHS sent out (3 times) (first call 5/31/20, next 2 weeks later and then 2-3 days later). No A/C for over a month! Their tech told us one story but told AHS another. The tech that they sent to us told us the 1st time that our unit needed to be replaced but that AHS would never replace it - only continue ordering parts for it. The tech even sent us a text telling us how much it would cost for us to purchase a unit through him. Tech told us we had Freon leak. He said he put freon in it (which we paid over $400 for) and a dye in it to see where the leak was.
Two weeks later it stopped working again, put another call in and they sent the same tech out. This time it was the capacitor that needed to be replaced. My question to the tech was "why did you not check the entire system when you were here before because you said we needed a new one." I said, "If you go to the dr. for a tummy ache, the doctor will run different test to find out all the different things that could be causing this." The tech would only say "this is different problem" but how does he know that because he didn't check the entire unit the first time.
The unit stopped AGAIN within 2-3 days, I put in ANOTHER service request and the same tech was hired to come. He came the next week and said the coils are bad, need replace and that he would place an order with Carrier. Oh, I forgot to mention that on his FIRST visit he told us our coils were rusted and in bad shape and needed to be replaced but did not do anything about it.
For the next almost three weeks, we kept checking with the tech on the status of the coils. My husband finally asked him for the part number because he was going to try and find them himself. The temps were high 90's to over 100 degrees and I had my 80 year old mother here for one of those weeks. The tech sent my husband a text saying he was going to ask to be taken off this call and maybe another company would be able to get the coils.
Kind of fishy that he sent that AFTER my husband asked what the part number was. I called AHS four hours later (waited on hold over an hour) to ask when another company would be put on the call because the house was miserable, they said they would assign someone, they did and said to call and set up a time for them to come look at the unit. I called the new company only to be told that "we told AHS that we are swamped and cannot take that call."
Another hour+ on hold for me to talk to AHS and let them know what the new company told me that they hired. After being on the phone for almost 2 hours total, AHS said we could hire someone to fix it but needed to have the new company call them, tell them what needed to be done and get prior authorization (which we did). The new company was on hold for again another hour (technicians should have a different number to call - but I was given a specific number for the tech to call but still over an hour on hold) - which is not good considering they are extremely busy.
They were given the authorization number to complete the work - which he did. He also let us know that he knows the other tech told us he put dye in but there was no dye in our system. He also said that if he had to replace the coils, which he did not - he cleaned them up, it would take about 3 days to get them in so he did not know why it was taking so long for the other company to get them.
We were told to submit the bill/receipt to them and they would reimburse us for what we paid. We did that on 7/29/20 and STILL HAVE NOT been reimbursed. I have called and asked to speak with a supervisor to discuss this entire mess but they are always busy and will "call you back." No call to date and when I look at the status of the service call, it says "authorization under review."
I have only ever filed one other service call on something other than our HVAC, it was our refrigerator, and that service call was so smooth. I do NOT understand why this one has been a complete nightmare. Just reimburse us for what we had to pay. I do NOT feel we should have to pay AGAIN or freon that leaked out in less than 2 weeks and we should not have to wait this long to be reimbursed.

I'm retired and I live on a budget so to help protect my budget from expenses when home systems break down I purchased AHS. I thought that was a smart thing to do but now I don't know. I realize these have been uncertain and extraordinary times and AHS probably had to let some people go but that being said I had to wait 2 hours before my call was answered. No matter what day or time it's the same thing. 2 hour wait. When I signed up with AHS they said they strive to make my life easier. Waiting 2 hours or longer for customer service is not making my life easier. I needed to talk to customer service about the vendor AHS selected for me, the vendor diagnosed my problem over the phone. Did not come to my home, in addition he said he was going to have to charge me $190. I told him I had to talk with AHS first.
I finally got through customer service. She said she was going to send second vendor to my home for a second opinion. As of yet this has not occurred. AHS what about follow up email to make sure my problem was resolved to my satisfaction???? That also has not occurred. I am very disappointed and regret purchasing AHS home warranty. In conclusion I had to hire my own Air Conditioning vendor to take care of my A/C problem.

I originally filed a service request on 7/13 for my Air Conditioner that wasn't working. Two separate technicians and weeks later, the system was still not cooling and the last technician left the old compressor and debris on the roof of my condo building which will result in a fine from the HOA to take care of the debris etc. The technician lied and said the job was complete to AHS when he knew he had not filled the system with enough refrigerant nor had he taken away the old compressor, debris or strapped down the unit as required by hurricane standards in Florida. The company is not returning my calls or answering my emails. I hired another company today at my own additional cost and they have added the refrigerant, strapped down the unit, BUT the company AHS hired still needs to return and remove the old compressor and related debris or a fine will be incurred from the HOA.
I am totally frustrated with AHS and the technicians they hire for AC work. The first company/tech they hired never came back nor responded to calls. The 2nd company replaced the compressor only (although the whole unit really needed replacing due to corrosion, but AHS won't allow that to be done), but did not have enough refrigerant with them to get the AC to cool. It is now 8/11/20 and this last company, South Florida Crane and Cooling are not responding and have not picked up the old compressor etc from the roof. Also, be aware AHS will add additional charge of $50/lb of refrigerant that you have to pay directly to the technician. That cost me $750 for refrigerant and the job was never completed!!!! You can swelter for a month in your home waiting for them to get the work done and then they still can't do the job correctly.

Update-They finally getting someone else to come out and take a look at my a/c unit, I am happy that it is fixed now and no more leaking is going on. I really recommend the company that came out, he was very thorough and explained everything and checked every single detail to my unit. I had to fix the duct issue myself because I was tired of waiting but the leak under the unit was actually more important to me because it was causing damages to the house itself. Thank you for finally understanding my needs and getting someone else to come take a look at it and give me their opinion.

I have been dealing with AHS now for almost a year, the first time I call because there is an issue with my a/c. They send someone out to "Fix" the issue. It was not fixed and now they messed up my a/c in the whole house and now half the house is not blowing air, well they won't pay for it because "It's not normal wear and tear". Well no, it's a brand new duct! The person they sent out blew water down and it went into the duct and cause it to collapse and therefore no air is blowing, I'm so fed up and frustrated, I have small children and one of their room is being affected by the no air, they tell me they will call me back to check the options I have but this was yesterday and today and still no word... Again!
I am at my wit's end and dont know what else to do! I just need my a/c fixed which by the way, the initial issue I was having which was the water leaking under the a/c unit is still there! So they charged me the fee for a technician to come out and fix it yet it didnt get fixed! This is turning into a legal matter now and I'm ready to take that step because in no way will I pay 600$ for something that was not my fault or problem to begin with! The initial problem was my leaking water under the a/c unit!!! So mad!!!

I am still without air conditioning in my home after first calling American Home Shield on July 22, 2020. The first company AHS sent said they do not work on my type of "Apollo air conditioning unit" with AHS any longer. They ended their agreement with them because according to the tech, AHS would not pay them the proper amount for the parts they serviced. Then AHS sent another company, ATR services who have been out to my home two times and my system is still not working. During these past 21 days, I've called American Home Shield over 20 times and been on hold for 1+ hours then hung up on. I've asked to speak with a manager numerous times and then placed on hold and then disconnected.
I have been a customer with American Home Shield for over 12 years and will end this horrible contract once I hopefully get my air conditioning repaired by them. I will also add that the companies they've sent have now charged me $760 for Freon and removal of a compressor that they ended up not installing. ATR said at first I needed a new compressor, when they came back yesterday he said I did not need it. He flushed my Freon once again and still not working. Do not waste your time or sanity on this horrible company.

We bought this house and our Realtor recommended that we had Home Shield. We went with that and we were so thankful because our oven went out shortly after we moved in. Come to find out, it was a wiring problem with the harness from probably when they installed it years ago. But the oven looked like no one had ever used it. We talked to the previous owners and they said that they didn't bake, but they grilled a lot with it. That was a surprise to us, so that went out. It was just that the submitted claim was for the microwave oven and not the oven and I didn't know if the girl was irritable or the person on the Sears side. The contractor called my husband at the time and he was saying that he is working on microwave ovens which was totally different. We also had an issue with the washer where the pump didn't work then Tactical came and fixed that. They were also super fast and very easy kind of fix.
With our recent claim, the dryer went out and it was on a weekend. I initially tried to submit it online and it said pick a date. The soonest the contractor could come out was a week later. I ended up submitting it but I said that none of those dates would work for me. The next day, I got a phone call from AHS and they told me that they could get somebody out the following day. Tactical Appliance came out right away. They looked at the dryer and said it was the circuit board in the control panel. They looked into it and told me they couldn't get it anymore but they would submit it to American Home Shield because a lot of times, AHS could find it because they have access.
It went into the whole next week where I didn't hear from anybody. Friday, I called AHS and asked what's the deal because we were heading into the weekend and I've gone a whole week without a dryer. The rep said that it's still being reviewed by AHS so I'll have to wait until Monday. By Monday, I still didn't hear from anybody. It was like two weeks I was without my dryer. When I found out AHS was getting the part, they were awesome. The contractor called and said that they got the part and they would come to install it. They did that and it was great. The guy was very nice, professional, and he wore a mask when he came in.
The only feedback I would have with AHS is just a little bit more communication, even if it's through an email like, "Hey, we are looking at your claim and you haven't been forgotten." But we love them and we're 100% satisfied. Every time I have a problem, I can look it up online. The online portal was easy to use too. My sister and her family have it. We recommend it to everybody we talk to.

We bought this property and we just took possession from the previous owner. I went on the website of American Home Shield and put in the job request for a rekey. It was pretty easy to use. I also tried calling on the phone because, initially, I had trouble logging into the website. Something didn't go right with my account set-up when the property closed and they had it on file, but they didn't have an email address. But once I eventually got through to where I could leave a message and have somebody call me back, they got the website stuff set up and it was super easy to use after that. Then, I got a confirmation that my claim was assigned and I had a time window. It happened much quicker than I thought it would and when the tech from Reality Rekey came out, he rekeyed two deadbolts and two handle locks. He was good, very responsive, and very quick. I would recommend him to somebody else too, or if I had other work in the future.

Both the oven and washing machine went out. The guy from Professional Appliance came out in a decent amount of time, figured out what was wrong, and he fixed it. He was really good. He fixed everything. The oven, he did right away. The washing machine, he said I needed a part. He ordered it, and as soon as they got it in, the company called me to schedule it out, and they came a couple of days later and fixed it, and it has been working since. We're happy with that.
There was a problem though, when we called initially. We spoke to someone who could barely speak English and she was really rude. And she said that she was going to lunch at that time and hung up on us. Our son has a compromised immune system. We needed the washing machine because we use a detergent and keep things clean. Zero F's were given. I said, "I just need someone to fix the washer at least like right away. We need it." She said, "I'll call you tomorrow. I'm going to lunch." After everything I told her, I thought maybe she would be more understanding. We thought it was a joke. I thought she was gonna get me the supervisor, but she had it on silent or something for a long time. I said something on the phone. And after I said something, she just hung up on me. And then, I called back and she gave me her name. She gave me the name Gretchen. I don't know how true that is.
We called back and I spoke with another guy, and he was helpful. I let him know what happened and he said that a supervisor should've reached out but they never did. Whenever we call in the representative, it's usually the one that doesn't speak English well. I guess they're from the Philippines. That's what that lady was. She sounded like she was from the Philippines. I hardly understood her. It was frustrating. I was on the phone with her for a while. Even the first time when we called for the plumber, we spoke with someone who also sounded like may have been from the Philippines, and I believe it was a male. But same issue. They don't understand. They don't know what they're doing and they find a reason to hang up.
We have also used Home Shield for a plumbing issue a few months back. The only issue that we've had is the representatives that we call in. The people that came out for the plumbing were okay. I caught them in some false information that they had given me. I don't know if they were trying to sell up more stuff or something. But I wouldn't call them out again.

They got good communication, they showed up on time and explained what was wrong and what they needed to do to fix it. They had really good follow through with everything. I helped coordinate the time and what they needed to do in the time that they were gonna arrive, and everything was right on point. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy. I did it online and then a text message was sent with who the provider was going to be and their contact info. The process was really good considering the COVID situation we're in. Everything went really well.

I had had an issue before, and the Legum’s people came out to fix it, so I thought it would be nice to have them come out again.
American Home Shield is pushing people to schedule everything online, but if you like who you get one time and you want them to come back and work on your thing, you can't do it on their website. You have to call them in person in order to request a repeat encounter with a contractor. It would make scheduling easier for them if they somehow found a way to do that online though. Otherwise, you can call online and they have something that remembers your place in line if you call and hang up, so that's nice. You don’t have to stay online for a really long time for them to get back with you.

The AC was blowing down warm air and I had it set on 75 but it kept on going up to 90. When I contacted American Home Shield, the contractor came and checked it. One of the guys was here for five hours the first time but he didn't fix anything. He was trying to sell me a new AC unit. He said I needed to get a new AC because everything was falling apart. I said that I’ve had American Home Shield for the past 10 years since I purchased this house so, I don't need to go buy any AC. This was running fine and this is because of the heat. He said that the best we could do is put Freon. He put Freon and nothing works. The next day, it was the same issue and it took three weeks.
My mom is 86 years old and because of COVID, couldn't go anywhere else and we were inside the house with this heat. My house was at 100 and it was the worst experience. I didn't like the first guy. He wasn't writing anything on that invoice for AHS to know. I told him from day one that twice a year, people come and does all the maintenance on my air conditioner. I showed the invoice and said that it was probably what was causing the issue and it needed to be fixed. But he wasn't paying that much attention on that thing. Something big was happening that broke. AHS sent Kyle, a different guy. He was very knowledgeable. The minute he saw everything, he knew exactly what was wrong. He contacted the manager right away because the first guy charged me for Freon and it had nothing to do with it. I paid $100 something, which was a waste of my money.
The manager was good and he was on the phone constantly trying to follow up. The other technician who came in fixed everything. The first technician didn’t get to the actual problem to get it fixed. If he got to that problem from the get-go, I wouldn’t have been without AC for two weeks. It’s hot here in Arizona and it's not even livable. Even the other guy who came asked how I could come here. I said that I work from home because of COVID and I don't have any place else to go.
Every time I called AHS, I was on hold for two hours. Sometimes they would tell you to put your phone number and then, they would call you back, which was great and they did that. But sometimes, they wouldn't give me that message and I would be on hold for two hours. Then, I would be on the phone and talk to them and they would say that they did this, that they were rushing it and that I should have it by that date. They even told me that I could get somebody else to fix it and they would reimburse me. The lady told me that she was gonna email all the information to me. I didn't want somebody to come because I didn't know anybody, which was why I have American Home Shield to trust that they would send somebody. But I was at the point that I needed somebody to fix the AC. They never did. I called back and I was on hold for two hours. Then somebody would say hello and hang up the phone.
I even had some other company to find the part. They said they were gonna get it for me by Monday. I said that I needed it this weekend. American Home Shield told me they were getting it for me by Monday. The other company asked if I was sure because a lot of people complain that AHS says one thing and they don’t do that. And it never happened. I've been with American Home Shield for a very long time. I've been wanting sometimes to change it because I get so frustrated with them.
On Monday, I called the company and they said they didn't have anything. They fixed the AC but it took a very long time and that's the frustrating part to make you leave American Home Shield and go someplace else. When it comes to these kinds of situation, if something like a disposable breaks and it takes them two weeks, it's okay. But with heat, you're dealing with health issues where there are so many things going on right now. If there was a hotel, it’s okay but because of safety, we can’t leave the house, especially my mom.
I've referred AHS to all my family and friends before that. I have rental properties and everything is with AHS because I've always heard good things about it. I always went straight to them. For that incident, I was dissatisfied but overall, I was very okay that AHS took care of it and fixed it. But I want them to be honest, truthful and not run around the circle and to get rid of the customers. They should tell me the truth that it’s gonna take long time and see if I can find some other company, and then they will reimburse me. When they tell me that they’re gonna email me the information, then send it to me. They should not lie to me to get me off the phone.

The communication was a little lacking but in the end, it turned out to be okay. Where the service is concerned, it was fine. In general, they were responsive. They fixed the job in January and I never had a problem. I thought I would have had a problem again this summer because it's so hot and my AC wasn't cooling down. But then it cooled down. If I have to rate them on a scale of zero to 10, I would give them an 8 overall.
I have recommended American Home Shield to my family and friends and some of them have signed up for it. They do a good job. I had one problem with my electrical fan which was the last claim. I was trying to get an electrician that would come out on days where I was off from work. The lady told me that they couldn't, that they only do work Monday through Friday. I ended up canceling that claim then I refiled the claim about two or three weeks later. It's so weird, but the same company responded and their service was exceptional. They were very professional and on time. The explanation that the guy gave was awesome.

In my master bath, the tile is sinking into the wall. I've had three plumbers come out. The downstairs, underneath my master bath, there was water dripping. The first time the plumbers came out, they said, “It's not a problem,” that if it was leaking downstairs, there would be a huge amount of evidence on the ceiling. But I can see the ceiling is ripply up there.
Then the second time the plumbers came out, he said it was the little thing that was screwed into the bathtub. He said it was angled wrong so the water was getting in there and leaking. He unscrewed it a little bit and changed the angle of it. Then on Friday night, my granddaughter was taking a shower in there and my daughter was downstairs. She came running upstairs because she could see the water traveling along the ceiling downstairs. I called American Home Shield again on Friday to have the plumbers come out again, but I haven't heard from them yet as far as an appointment.
Having AHS saves me money. I've had a couple of issues with some of the people though. It's also not easy to get ahold of AHS. If I call them on the phone, I'm on hold for an hour and a half before I can speak with someone, but I try to chat with them online when I can. But, all in all, I'm happy with AHS. I would still recommend them because it's helpful to me.

When my refrigerator was not cooling, I gave it some time to see if it was gonna start back working on its own. I finally said it was not getting any better, so I went ahead and called American Home Shield. I set up an appointment online for someone to come out and look at it. I just went in, selected what I needed and submitted the claim. It was easy. I then got a email that stated that they had assigned somebody and that they would be reaching out to set up an appointment with me. Beyer Appliance called me the next day and then they set up an appointment for two days later. The first time the technician came out, I had emptied out the refrigerator. By the time he came, it was cool again. When I put everything back in the refrigerator, it stopped again, so I had to call him back out.
Once he came back out and saw that it wasn't cool and saw the issue, he was able to fix it quickly. I work from home and it was done before my lunch break. The technician was very friendly, quick and confident in his work. I was asked if I was gonna need a new refrigerator 'cause it was the 1500th time that I've had people come out and take a look at it. He said he figured out the problem and that he's got me. It's been working ever since. Now, we don't have to keep all of our food outside in the extra refrigerator. I have a house full of boys, so I have an extra refrigerator in the garage. Now, the refrigerator inside is working and we don't have to keep going in and out of the garage. I can put everything in my house and we can stay inside and keep the extra food. It's nice to have the refrigerator working in the house.

The refrigerator and microwave had issues. A claim was submitted to AHS and a technician from Carolina Appliance came out. He was very friendly and very professional. He'd been to our home other times and was very comfortable. He was also very knowledgeable and solved both issues perfectly well. Whenever we have a claim, we just contact AHS and they send somebody out. And right now, it's always been an appliance issue, so it's always been Carolina Appliance. We don't have a lot of issues but we're happy to have the policy because the things that they have fixed would have been very costly.
All in all, I recommended AHS. I used to do real estate in California so I was very familiar with making sure to have that kind of policy on our house here. It works the way I know it would work and it's never happened where they couldn't fix the product. At that point, it would be a different story. But so far, they've been able to handle everything we threw at them.

My Georgia Plumber was out here last week because the overflow drain of our air conditioner unit in our attic wasn't draining, and it was causing leaks into our master bedroom. When the air conditioning company came and looked at it, they said, "Well, we need a plumber to come out. It's a plumbing issue." It was the PVC pipe - the overflow drain that runs outside the house. They recommended My Georgia Plumber to come out and fix the problem, which they did. They found 50 feet of blockage in the drain pipe. The tech brought the pipe down and showed us the blockage, and then said he kept going further and kept finding more. They had to replace 50 feet of PVC pipe to get the blockage out. We've had several several AC companies over the past years we've had issues with the AC and the plumber did more help for us and worked than most of the AC companies. They were great for us. We're completely satisfied and grateful for them.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

The hardest part with AHS is getting a technician to come and do their job. The second one, it seems like it's hardly ever resolved with the first visit. Also, there have been times where I have to wait up to three weeks since the first call until the issue gets resolved. That's really frustrating when I have something in my home not working. Like right now, the plumbing is not working and it's gonna be a week tomorrow. Plumbing shouldn't be that difficult, running this leak to the pipes and cleaning up. It's ridiculous that the contractor has to schedule another visit. They make it look like it's so complicated. I also had a faucet in the kitchen and the refrigerator water dispenser that were fixed for nearly three weeks. Is that worth waiting or maybe paying somebody out of pocket and not having the contract? It's not really a good thing to go through, which is kind of hectic and nerve-racking.
There was one instance where my AC unit was not working and it took almost two months to fix it and I had to end up getting a second opinion because the first company made the wrong diagnostic. They wanted me to pay the whole amount for their repair which was like 11 or $200. American Home Shield approved it, which I didn't see the need as they would not pay anything and that was slap in the face. The second thing that bothered me was if it was the wrong item. I had to take a chance and have a second opinion, and if I was wrong, I would've had to pay for it. Luckily, I was correct and the other company ended up fixing the problem but with so much stress and being disappointed and upset.
The one thing that will make it much better is if they speed up things. Instead of having to wait every two to three weeks to resolve the issue, it'd be nice to get it done within a week. It seems like many of the contractors, for some reason, make it within less than a week or 10 days. That's pretty long to wait. I understand it's a lot of red tape. But I'm not happy when I have to wait more than two weeks for a simple repair. However, in taking the questions and the appointments, AHS has been super nice and professional.

The AC wasn't blowing cold air. I always have it set at 72 and it was 81 in my house. I turned the unit off and turned all the fans in my house on. But when I got back, it was 84. It was an average of 84 degrees in the house the whole week. It took Honesty Mechanical a while to come out and they said it's because with everything that's going on, they're shorthanded but they're not getting any less calls. The guy explained exactly what was wrong and showed me a picture of it. He was very good, forthcoming and professional. He explained exactly what he was doing and talked to me for a while about why it happened.
American Home Shield is excellent. I hear from the contractors within 24 hours. My clothes dryer was making this horrible, horrible noise and the contractor came out two days later. They had to order the part. It was the same thing. That contractor explained to me exactly what was wrong. I asked if it was safe to use and he said yes. It was definitely safe to use because the belts were in place and the drum seemed to be good. Since I didn't have anything to tell him what the noise was, he said to record it next time. I did two of those the other day and it wasn't quite as loud as it had been originally but it's still making that noise. He said he was pretty sure he knew what it was and they ordered a part.
Submitting a claim is very simple. You just go on, click what's wrong, pay, then they send you an email immediately saying that somebody from a certain company will come. They tell you exactly who's gonna call and if it's new or not. If you're not satisfied then to call them back and they can give you a different contractor. The last time in May when they came to do the inspection on the air conditioner, it was a different company. It wasn't Honesty Mechanical. When this guy came, he was bad-mouthing the work of the previous contractor but I never had any trouble with the other contractor. They replaced my whole heating system and was good.
When I got the heater, the only thing that I had a problem with was bringing them back into code because that's very expensive. American Home Shield doesn't cover that and I had to pay out of my pocket for that. But if I didn't have the home warranty, I would have to pay like $10,000 for everything. It wasn't as much but it still kinda bothered me. They have to understand these units are that old and that if they're gonna cover replacing the unit, even if it's not the full price, maybe at least cover a portion of bringing it up to code. But I don't want American Home Shield to cancel my policy. I pay 12 times 36 a year compared to paying $5,000 or $6,000 or $7,000 for an air conditioner. When my little brother called the other day and I told him, he asked, "What did they charge you, 800?" I said I just had to pay the service call. I didn't have to pay for anything else. He said American Home Shield is a good thing to have and I agree.

Recently, the garage door button kept clicking. The light would click on and off, and it wouldn't let me open or close the garage door. I was given expectation as to when the contractor would reach out to me. They told me that over the phone and via email. And then, the contractor, Garage Door Experts, called the next day. The tech came, explained what was going on with the garage door, and fixed it. He was very professional.
I've only had two bad experiences with Home Shield. With my air, I got the runaround because I used a private company. And then, I spoke with multiple people there and they told me different things. That confused me when it came to trying to get my payment, then trying to see what was actually covered by Home Shield and what I would have to pay out of pocket for. That was the only one directly with them.
The other one was with the actual company that they sent out. The people that came for the air were horrible. The tech came out and spent 10 minutes and said, "Oh, all you have to do is pour the water out of your attic and we'll send you information." And then, I had someone privately come in and look at it and said that the tech didn't do anything. Home Shield had to send somebody else out and the guy that came out told me everything. It was a waste of a visit and me taking off work for something that I didn't have to take off work for. I know this because I know somebody who works with insurance companies, with Home Shield, and with the private companies. I know that it is a time frame that they have to be out to the home. But that was the only company that I had an issue with and I would never use them again.
I'm aware that some of the contractors have a certain amount of free time that they come out, and any additional time that they're out, they don't get paid for it. So, they try to rush and do what needs to get done. I've had some that came out and they didn't care about the time. They tried to make sure that I knew what they were doing, what needed to be done and what I could do moving forward so that issue wouldn't happen again.

I submitted a claim for my AC with American Home Shield on a Sunday night. The contractor, Cote’s Mechanical, called me on Monday and they said they would be out Monday. They did. They estimated and they were coming back. The guys came back Tuesday and said it was gonna cost me $770 for the compressor and for the Freon. But the way I understood it, the warranty was supposed to pay for everything. I said fine though and to go ahead. Also, the first time Cote’s Mechanical came out, a little hole was made so they had to come back out the next weekend to fix it.
I went to a motel on Sunday night and I didn't get back in my trailer until the following Sunday. It cost me almost $1,100 for the motel and food and I wasn’t very happy. We were without air for Friday night and I called on that Friday. They made Cote's come back out on Saturday as a rework. They were very prompt on that. They were out there by 12:30 on Saturday and they had my AC up running. I'm happy with that. But the way I understand it is American Home Shield didn't submit my compressor until the following Monday at seven o'clock PM to be gotten. I didn’t get the compressor until the next following Friday. But the unit is working fine now. Cote’s was very nice and I couldn't ask for a better service. They worked with their mask on but they couldn’t wear gloves because they had to solder pipes.

It was going to be several days before Budget A/C Heating and Plumbing could get to repair my issue and it wasn't going to work out, so I cancelled the order. The problem was this all happened right before I left town and we couldn't leave without the issue being fixed. We had torrential rains, in fact, while we were gone.
Overall, the service I got from American Home Shield was fine. It's just that they didn't go looking to find somebody that could get to the issue in time. Another thing is you wait forever on a phone call to get ahold of somebody and I have a problem with that. A lot of times, when you have an issue in your home, you need something right away. It's not something you can wait on, like something you want to have checked out and looked at. It's usually an emergency. I don't have a need to renew it at this time and I don't think I'm going to renew it after. I'm not seeing the benefit of doing it.

When I called back, American Home Shield did a recall but it was a different company who said that they voided the warranty if they touched it. They did a diagnostic and turned it in, but they said that they weren’t the original company that did the ticket on there and that they had to do a recall.
The gentleman did show up this morning. He said that it was some wires connecting that needed to be replaced in order for the fan to turn on correctly. I was surprised he showed up this morning to see what was wrong and fix it. It's working now. I was grateful because I have an 89-year-old mother that lives in the home. My freezer wasn’t cooling. It would go from -2 degrees to 15 degrees and then all of a sudden, go back to -2. Then, it started getting warmer at 15. I called Home Shield and put a claim in on July 26. They were on it and the serviceman from S & S Appliance, Bobby, came out immediately. I was so impressed. Bobby was very familiar with GE Monogram. He said he's licensed with it and he did an assessment of what needs to happen. He said he would be back on Friday as long as he had all the parts in and would be able to fix the refrigerator. I was so pleased because I didn't wanna have to throw away everything that I had in the freezer.
Then, I didn’t hear from S & S and I ended up calling around August 4th or 5th. I asked them what was going on and they told me AHS ended up telling them that they were gonna get a second opinion. On August 6th, I spoke to Ben at AHS and said they needed a second opinion from GE. They needed to get a diagnosis that was more accurate and they would determine whose diagnosis was better. I contacted GE and they gave me an appointment for the following day, August 12, but they told me they were gonna charge me. I was a little confused because I was following AHS’s recommendation to contact GE. They claimed that AHS noted some modifications and I would end up with an out of pocket expense and they wanted to avoid my having an out of pocket expense. I appreciated their concern. But then I spoke to Bobby at S & S and said he never included any modifications whatsoever.
I was not very pleased with the fact that I got canceled. They canceled my original request and they ended up reinstituting a new one on August 7. Nobody has come out yet but I spoke to a rep who said that an authorization went out on the 10th. The authorization finally got approved from S & S when it was originally requested back on July 28. The contractor is supposed to contact me as soon as they get the notification from AHS to come out. From July 28th to August 10th, I was with a defective refrigerator where I wasn't able to keep my items cold. I'm really disappointed and I don't know if I even wanna keep AHS after this. I've had them for two years and this is the first time I've had such a problem.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Being with American Home Shield, I like not having to look for various repair persons. When our AC was not cooling, they had ATR Heating come out and they were okay. Their tech replaced or reconnected a wire that was loose.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together.

American Home Shield is great. Recently, my water heater wasn’t heating up and I put the claim online. The contractor came over and they were able to fix it that day. So far, so good. The water heater turned off only one time but it's been working fine since then.

I'm a real estate agent and it is highly recommended to use the services of AHS. Also, I have personal home warranty representatives that I talk to every day, but I still choose to stay with American Home Shield because when I look at it, they may charge less for the deductible, but then all the services are not included. With American Home Shield, I'll just pay more and get everything.
Recently, I had an appliance issue and I called American Home Shield to submit the claim. Then, they automatically referred me to the service provider, A A R, A R R. The techs set up the appointment the first time but something happened and I had to reschedule it. But when their tech came, he was on time and professional about it. He took care of the issue, was respectful, and I appreciated him. The other reps at his company were so kind, too. This was the first time I've had a company call to follow up to make sure everything was okay. Everything was good and the machine he worked on is still going until now. Other than that, I'm not happy about the $75 deductible, but it is what it is. And when I look at other companies, it's all the same. So, I have no problems with American Home Shield. I renewed with them and I'll renew again.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

The element of the stove was burnt out and we couldn't get the element in so we called American Home Shield. The guy from Keepin It Cool came out and fixed the stove. I also had a claim with the dryer with them and they came out six times for that. I told them I needed a new one, but they kept putting new parts in, so it's still clicking and clicking. I called AHS and told them not to call the same people but they kept sending the same ones out. However, AHS doesn't charge us the $75 every time they come. We've had AHS for about eight years now and they are good. Even if they can't get anybody out on the weekends, they answer the phone so I'm gonna keep them. It's just that if they could find some good and suitable contractors.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

The light was off on our water heater and it wasn't generating hot water. I had to call American Home Shield because their website was down and it wouldn't let me put in any claim. Then it wouldn't even let the rep and she had to call me back a couple of hours later. The contractor did a good job. He had put the valve on his truck just in case that was what it was with the water heater, and he fixed it. That was great.
We had a contractor out a little over a month before because our garage door opener broke and the guy did not fix it. It was doing the same thing. It was opening on its own randomly during the night where people would have access to our house. AHS said I had to pay another $75 call charge to send somebody out because I waited more than 30 days. I said that was not right. It's the same issue. She said that I should have called right away. I said that it was COVID and the contractor should have fixed it right the first time. All that the guy did was push the learn button to clear it out. We had done that and we told him it didn't work.
That was the only thing I was disappointed in but I wish AHS would have fixed the issue and the contractor had done it properly. It needs to be replaced and I shouldn't have to keep paying as much as it's gonna cost me to buy a new one to get them to fix it. Still, we're glad that we have American Home Shield because our air conditioning control board went out, the valve went out on the water heater and our garage door opener broke. It has been a good experience.

We have a lot of appliances. It's a big house with five bathrooms and if I had to replace all that stuff at once, it'd be $30,000. If I pay my insurance on that and know that all my appliances are covered, it made sense to do a home warranty. One of our air conditioning units in the house was not working properly so Comfort Air came out to fix it. They did a good job. They're very kind people. It was a little difficult to understand them at some points in the conversation but they were very professional and did everything they said they were gonna do. I would be happy to use them again. They had to come out a week later and they replaced a capacitor. The second time, there was no charge to us, but they did get the air working again. That time, we probably waited about three days but because the house is zoned, our air was working on where we needed it. Right now, everything's working great.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

American Home Shield's customer service is very nice and their service is efficient. I always speak to live people when I submit a claim and they are very accommodating. They scheduled the appointment and the person came right out. The people that came out for plumbing were excellent. It was leaking in the sink ‘cause the pipes were corroded and they replaced it. They were very friendly and professional. I would recommend them to others.
I am glad to hear you are happy with your experience with us so far. Thanks for sharing your experience and thanks for recommending us. Take Care.
