My recent claim with AHS went really well. National Platinum had to come out a couple of times about the ice maker, but they kept coming back and got it. So, it's supposed to be working. It just started holding up again this morning. I'm gonna have to call them again, but they've been really good to come out and do what we needed. He replaced the eye on the range top and it's working good too. The service of AHS has been good. They've responded fast whenever I call them. It was written in that the buyer provided us with a year home warranty, and then we decided to continue it. It's an older home and we were just concerned. We wanted to make sure everything kept working. If it didn't, that we had something to fall back on.
However, the people that they use, Asurion, for the electronics, we had a TV go bad, and if it was gonna cost a regular $75 for the service call. Then, they had us try a couple of things and it didn't work. Instead of coming out and taking care of it, they were gonna send us a box, we had to box it up and send it in. Then, they were going to look it over and decide if they could fix it or if they would even replace it. So, we just decided that was more trouble than what we need to go through and probably more money, so we just bought another one.

My AC wouldn't blow out cold air and wouldn't work at all. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and a guy from May Heating and Air came to do service. AHS doesn't take long to send their contractors out. They were gonna send someone else out initially and I told them that contractor would take too long and that they should find me someone else who could come out earlier. The tech from May Heating was nice and professional and he was able to fix things that same day.

We had the house rekeyed and the contractor that American Home Shield sent was great. The keys all work. We've had good luck with everything so far.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

American Home Shield sent Mountain Appliance Services to service the washer and dryer. The dryer was running, and the clothes were extremely dry and hot. And it continued to run, so the timer wasn’t working. The washing machine gets lint on all of my black clothes, and that's really not been resolved. As far as submitting the claim to AHS, I went on my computer and looked for their information, and I contacted them. Their website was very user-friendly. They gave me a timeframe that someone would be contacting me and someone did contact me within that time.
The guy from Mountain Appliance Services was fine. He asked to use my white vinegar and something else. I was surprised he didn't have the stuff that he would need knowing what he was coming to service himself. He said that we'd have to take the housing out and run it with really hot water after he ran one cycle with the white vinegar and that should resolve the problem. The washer is only a year old and I've never had a washer that leaves so much lint behind on the clothes. I run them through the dryer thinking that's going to take the lint off, but it doesn't.

Submitting claims to Home Shield has been an easy process. The contractors have all been very professional and courteous. The two times I had them out, once for my garage door and the second time for my air conditioner, they fixed everything within a short period of time and I was back and running.
Thanks for sharing your AHS experience. Please let us know if you need assistance in regards to your warranty.

The blower stopped working on the air conditioner. We could hear the air conditioner clicking on, but the blower wasn't activating. The technician that came out was great. Everything's working fine now. I liked American Home Shield this time. The last repair I had, I hated American Home Shield. I have a mini-split unit. I had three people come out before, finally, the third company started substituting parts. So, they replaced the mainboard inside the exterior unit, and then they replaced the main board on the interior unit and they still couldn't get it to work right. They kept complaining that there was no shutoff. I didn't install the unit. I didn't know where the shutoff is. But a couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning in my office and I followed the conduit exactly 18 inches to the wall where there's a shutoff. It was like the guy didn't even look.
Then the worst thing was after they decided that they couldn't fix it and that they wanted me to replace it, they wanted to replace it with some air conditioner that did not have a good noise rating and they wanted to install it on a different wall, which was not gonna work. I'm in a recording studio in my home, so I have to have a super quiet air conditioner.
This company refused to do the work until they put a cut-off switch in, which now I find out it's already there. If he would've turned one foot to his side, he would've seen the cut-off was there. So, to make matters worse, when they concluded the job, they concluded it by walking off. They left my outside unit open. They didn't bother to close it up, so I had to go out and put the screws in so that if it rained, water wouldn't go into all of the electrical components. So, I was not happy with them.
It still hasn't been fixed. Because we're in air conditioning high season right now in Arizona, I just have the office door open and a fan blowing from the rest of the house to cool the room because it's just not a time to get the air conditioning worked on. When this is all over, I will call certified Fujitsu Air Conditioning persons who'll come out here and figure out what the problem is, because these guys do not understand Fujitsu mini-splits. If they had understood it, they wouldn't have been throwing a bunch of money at replacing parts that weren't the problem.
I had a previous claim for a refrigerator problem. The contractors came out and fixed it right away. I had a repair on my dishwasher. They fixed that right away. So, in general, I'm happy with AHS, with the one huge exception of this mini-split unit. Now that I read the policy and the terms of the mini-split that says, "We're not obligated to replace it with a similar-sized unit," I have a really unique installation in my home studio, so I can't replace it with something that's not the same size.

I submitted a request to American Home Shield for a property I'm managing. It was to have a hole in the ceiling underneath the bathtub repaired. I don't have access through their online resource to report a claim or follow up on one because I can't give AHS the information they need. So, I have to phone the claim in. When I make calls to AHS, I have to go on hold for an hour to get anybody to answer and it's horrible. Still, once I get AHS on the phone, I really like them as they're efficient.
Home Shield told me that they assigned a contractor to fix the hole in the ceiling but nothing ever happened. I reported it again and I got a follow-up from the contractor. Recently, I've had better experiences with AHS but before, I've had horrible ones. AHS band-aids everything 50 times before they replace anything. With a tenant-occupied property like what I'm handling, I spend all of my time trying to get their contractors back out to fix something again. I had a tenant waiting as much as a week to two weeks without heating and air or without a refrigerator. I've had to rent a refrigerator with my own money to put in a unit because AHS did not get out for over a week.
Overall, I don't like American Home Shield's program or their vendors. They're so stacked up and busy. Plus they're not making enough money so they are not motivated to get out quickly enough. The last thing I would ever do is recommend one of my rental property owners to have this home warranty. I know what kind of pain the tenants would go through trying to get something fixed.
We understand your concerns regarding the delay to have the issues repaired. I would be glad to speak with you to reach a resolution.

Submitting claims through American Home Shield is easy. The only thing is I had ceiling fans out but the website only lets you put one, so I had to call them to ask them. They were nice about it. If you have a plumbing in the bathroom and a plumbing in the kitchen, you can't put that down when you just go online. You have to call them and let them know. It'd be easier if they would allow you. I'm assuming payment-wise, every time you call them one time, then they take the payment out. But if it's two or three problems, I try to do it under one payment if I could. Other than that, they helped me.
Thanks for letting us know you were happy with your experience. We love to hear that our process is easy. Please let us know if you need us, we're here!

My garage door was very noisy when operating and it wouldn't open or close normally. I placed a repair order and the tech from Flash Garage Door came on behalf of American Home Shield within two days. He was on time and he fixed the issue in 15 minutes. There was a little part that was broken and he replaced it. It was an easy fix for him and everything went back to normal afterward.
I have had a lot of experience with American Home Shield in a lot of the homes I have stayed at over 10-plus years. Last year, my AC and its compressor went out at another property I have. The reimbursement for that claim wasn't that great because the quotes I was getting were twice as much as the reimbursement I was given. I ended up replacing my unit on my own and took the $700 they were giving me. When it comes to bigger system problems that cost more, American Home Shield will fight. Still, I've saved the little things that are very quick to fix through them.
Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I was having smells like there was some kind of leak or blockage from the downstairs bathroom or the laundry room. Watkins Plumbing came out in a day or two. It was pretty quick but the guy couldn't figure out what the problem was. So I paid him $100 to tell me that and then he left. The claim is closed, but it hasn't been fixed. I've been dealing with American Home Shield on another claim and the shortest I've ever had to wait was 38 minutes and the maximum is about three hours and five minutes. On average, it's about an hour and 45 minutes. So, I'm disappointed. I have been waiting for 30 days to get an air conditioner fixed because all they're worried about is them saving every penny they can and not getting the job fixed.
Last year, we called and put in a claim for the air conditioner and AHS assigned this vendor that was two hours away from here. But they said that they wouldn't work on second story tile roof units. When I tried last year to have American Home Shield send somebody else, they didn't have anyone available. It was really hot, so we just got it fixed ourselves.
This year, when the unit went out, we called and AHS had assigned the same company two hours away. I told AHS before the vendor came out that this was the unit they refused to work on the year before. But AHS said that it was fine. So I waited a week and a half with no air conditioner and with record heatwave temperatures. When the vendor got here, they said that they wouldn't go on the roof. Then I called American Home Shield back after waiting on the phone for over an hour and a half. I asked if I could just find a contractor locally and AHS said that we would have to let them try to assign someone else.
AHS assigned the repair to someone else and then two days later, it was the same company, Foster Heating and Air. So they called and I told them that they weren't gonna go on the roof so that left the claim to being opened. So I called American Home Shield and waited on the phone for two hours and told them that the vendor wouldn't work on it. So I asked to get a local contractor to come over and diagnose what was wrong with the unit. AHS told me that if I did that, they could not perform the work or that would void the warranty. They needed to call the technician line, give them the dispatch number, and tell them what the diagnosis was. Then, they would see if they would approve.
So I had a contractor come out and gave me a bid. He said that they could not repair it because one of the broken parts was obsolete and the manufacturer did not have any parts to replace it and the unit itself was generally old. So they recommended a replacement unit. I just wanted to make sure that repair wasn't an option so I got a second contractor to come out. It was the same diagnosis. Two different parts, they could replace one of them but the other one they couldn't. They recommended replacing the unit. So that contractor called the authorizations line. He had to wait on the phone for an hour and a half. He got through and he gave AHS the diagnosis. He gave them the estimate and they told him that they would review it for authorization to repair and they would get back to him.
The next thing that happened, I got a call from none other than South Foster Heating and Air, who had already been out here twice and already told me that they were not going on the roof, saying that the warranty company told them that they had to come out here and do a diagnosis and to send a master technician. So I waited for another week. They came out yesterday but their master technician wasn't gonna go on the roof. So I called AHS back and stayed on the phone for three hours yesterday and two and a half hours this morning to get them. AHS was saying that they were waiting on the authorizations department. The authorization department has clearly decided that the replacement of the unit is authorized but they don't wanna pay the amount that the contractor has said it'll cost.
All I want AHS to do is tell me what they're gonna pay and I'll pay the difference, and I like to have air conditioning. I'm clearly canceling my policy when this is over, and as a real estate attorney and a real estate broker with 19 agents that hang their license with me, we will never use this company again. It has been a month and I still don't have air conditioning. Their customer service line takes hours to get through and they tell me that it's because of COVID. But when I call their sales line, they answer in five minutes or less. So if they have people to staff their sales line and keep selling policies but they don't have the capacity to service, there's something wrong with that picture. I'm just waiting for a callback which I have zero faith it's gonna occur 'cause I've been told they're gonna call me back before and they never do.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

The reps from Plumbing Pro Services were nice and I liked them. But I never could get them to call me back after the incident. there was a calcium buildup that clogged the pipes and I already had someone fool with it, and it came undone. I thought they were gonna have to cut a hole in the wall and do all this stuff. They were fast and quick or there was really nothing that they could do. The problem was solved and he made sure it was all clear. He let it run for a while but that afternoon when they left, I started thinking all these questions. I asked them to call me back and they never returned my call. Then I even woke up the next morning at 7:00 because it sounds like they get all their schedules and get out on their run. And I never got a call back.
I just wanted to know if there was something I could run through my pipes to prevent that again and what he would suggest for a calcium buildup like that. Even to this day, if you called, nobody answers anymore. I have left a couple of messages and never got a return call. That was the first time I've ever used American Home Shield.
When submitting claims, you can go online and tell your problem but it needs to have a place where you can explain it. Then, I had questions because someone else had looked at it. So, I wanted to know if this was correct. Also, it says that I would have to pay for it. I didn’t want to be charged $125 and then I didn't even need them to come out, then I got to worry about getting the money back. So, I didn’t like that part. AHS could fix that part of the process. The only way I got to talk to a person through American Home Shield was to go back and act to be a new customer, and sign up. The lady told me to go ahead and fill it out. It would not charge me till I call. So, they would call first, which they did, but I didn’t know that. The rep was very nice. She was in that department getting new customers but she helped me out.

The wax seal on the toilet failed and the toilet was leaking. AHS sent out Bear Plumbing & Rooter and their guy did a great job. When you have a claim with AHS, you can go online and fill out the request for a claim. If you wanna try to call them on the phone, you're not gonna get very far. They don't answer their phones. I called yesterday about something and it was a two-hour wait. If you do get through to somebody, unfortunately, like a lot of companies, they have outsourced most of their customer service work overseas to the Philippines. And I understand why they do it. My only problem with it is many of the people don't speak clearly enough to understand. And when you're on the phone to the Philippines or somewhere far overseas, there's a bit of a lag in the call. You end up speaking over each other and that's a little bit difficult. But it's the way things have gone with a lot of outsourcing to cut costs.
Another thing with AHS is they could stop trying to figure out every way they can to not pay for a claim, like if I have a plumbing issue with a toilet. I am in the process of having that issue right now with one of my air conditioning units and they look for every single potential loophole that they can find so that they don't have to pay for things. It's quite frustrating. And it isn't just me. When the contractors come out, they tell me that AHS does everything they can to not pay the claims.
Potential homeowner should look at the contract carefully and they should consider alternatives as well. This go-around, I've had AHS since 2013. But I had them from 2001 until about 2010 as well. When I used to have them, they used to cover a lot more than they do now. Now, they've raised their prices and they've eliminated things they cover. They also try to get out of covering things that are supposed to be covered.

Everything’s simple with American Home Shield. I've always had a decent service. The only problem I've ever had with them was I called them on my garage doors a couple of times and I won't do that again. The first time, the garage door spring broke. I called them and they sent somebody out. I didn't know at that time that the springs weren't part of what's covered. The guy that they sent out said he'd do it for me. He was gonna replace the parts and it would be $400. He'd send a report to Home Shield and they'd accept. But if I didn't want to, then he was gonna send a report to Home Shield and they were not going to cover anything. I told him he was trying to extort me out of $400 and I told him to leave. He stood in front of my house and called American Home Shield. After he called them, they called me and said springs weren't covered. I tried to tell them what he said and they didn't really care about what he had done.
Recently, something went bad on the air conditioning unit that supplies the living areas of my home and it wouldn't work. The guy American Home Shield sent out looked at everything and was real thorough about what he was looking at. Then he talked to somebody, came back and said he felt like it was the control board and maybe the thermostat. He went, got those and installed them. The thermostat that they sent him from the parts house that they told him would fit wouldn’t fit so he came back and said that there was only one thermostat that does fit and it'd take five days from order to delivery. As soon as he got it, he’d be here. He called me every day and told me what was going on. The parts house screwed up then and it didn't come in five days. It was more like seven or eight, but once he got it, he came, installed it and made sure everything was working and was good to go.

It's nice to have someone to call and they take care of finding a contractor because it can be hard to pick a contractor with all the different reviews out there. 495 Garage Door's tech came out, assessed the issue and made a phone call, got the clearance to replace the garage door opener and it was really easy. I was able to still work while he was doing everything. He wore a mask and everything like that. He stood a distance away. He was in the garage and I was always inside the door.

I was having problems with my air conditioning. I explained to them what was happening. My son kept putting it low at 74 and my electric bill had been extremely high. Then every time I would move it to 75 or 76, it kept shutting off. So I told American Home Shield what was going on. I paid the $75 upfront and they scheduled the appointment. The guy came out and checked it over. He told me that the line was clogged. He never came into the house to check the thermostat or anything like that. He said that I needed to put the bleach solution in the overflow valves, so that was what I did.
The next day, the AC seemed okay. You could smell that bleachy smell but the next day or the day after, it started doing the same thing. I called AHS and I said that it was not fixed and that I was not paying to have a guy come out again. The rep said, “You don't have to pay to have someone come out. It's called a recall. Go online and request a recall work order and then that guy will come out.” Well, a different guy came out and he couldn't find anything wrong. He did check the thermostat but he didn't open it up. He just fiddled around with it.
The second guy said he didn't know what the problem was. I asked him if it could be the thermostat and he said that unless is did it while he was here, there was no way for him to know what to do. Then I was gonna call AHS but I thought that I was just gonna try to see if I could figure this out myself. I knew that I had already put the bleach thing in. So I dismantled the thermostat and took the battery things out and replaced the batteries. Since then, there was no problem.
The first gentleman was very nice and knowledgeable, but he wasn't thorough enough. The thermostat probably should have been checked and just not coming into the garage and looking at my unit that was in the garage. He also gave me a quote on a new air conditioner. With the second guy, with this whole COVID thing, I didn't really even want anyone coming into my house but I was at the point where I had to get to the bottom of this whole thermostat issue. So he was asking if it was okay for him to come in and I let him in. But he just fiddled around with it a little bit and that was it. I was not really impressed with him.
This issue with the AC actually happened to me last year with American Home Shield, and I was in the US Virgin Islands. My son was here by himself with his girlfriend. But I set up and had somebody come out. It was for a similar issue with the air conditioning unit ‘cause it was hot in Florida in the dead of summer. Then the AC started working, so I never had them come out. They never refunded my money, but the issue was resolved, so I was okay with that. But with this whole situation, I had to pay more money for the same problem again. Now, I don't know if it's fixed or not.
I'm not really happy with the whole thing with American Home Shield, to begin with. When I first bought my house, I was told that everything was covered. Then when I had things start going wrong, I found out practically nothing that I had going wrong was covered. Then the following year, I got an additional policy for my pool and my hot tub. But none of the stuff that was going on with that was covered either. So it was a big waste of about $3,000 last year for the policy. The only reason I decided to go ahead with them this year is because of the plumbing and electrical. If you have something huge go on, obviously, you need to have it fixed. And the air conditioning was old so the $600 was still cheaper than spending 6,000 or 8,000 for a new unit.

The air conditioner wasn't working. I submitted a claim with AHS and we weren't too happy about our experience because it took them forever to call us. But when the guy came out, he knew exactly what to do. He was a genius and since the repair, the AC's performance has been great. We had cold air in the air conditioning and the issue wasn't the Freon. That was another thing I appreciated about him because we've had other people come out before for air conditioners, and they would always tell us it was the Freon. They would give us a great big deal for Freon when it really wasn’t. But this guy didn't do that. He said there was a wire that was off and he did great. Send him out every time, please.
Also, I'm handicapped because I have a fake leg. I also have a boot on the other foot, the good foot. So, it would be totally impossible for me to go out and even look at the air conditioner. But he had no problem helping us out and it was amazing. Other than that, the reason that I went with AHS was because I wanted to have someone to come in and do the work. I’ve paid in so much money to AHS over the years and when we started, a lot of things were covered. But while we’ve stayed, they took off more things in the coverage and it didn't make any sense to me. Why would it be covered way back and now not covered?
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

My most recent claim was for a plumbing issue on my rental property. The tech said that it wasn't covered under Home Shield and he left without fixing the issue. But otherwise, my previous issues have been solved satisfactorily. The contractors go on site and I'm satisfied with the service. One thing, though, is the long wait time when you call them because of COVID. You have to be on the phone for one hour or more than one hour and it's almost impossible to open a ticket if you have to wait for an operator to talk to. But besides that, once you get hold of somebody, they're easy to get along and they're very cooperative.

The filter housing on my refrigerator was broken. When you'd put another filter in, the water would just come out of it like spring. I did an online appointment to American Home Shield and everything was good to go. Sears came and fixed the refrigerator. The first technician came out to see what was wrong with the fridge but he pulled my refrigerator out and scratched my wood floor. Then he said that it was just a scratch and that it would come off really easily. Then he was doing something on his cell phone and then he sent me documentation saying that it was not their responsibility for the scratches. On the acknowledge signature, he tried to sign it with my signature. The scratches were minor but forging my signature on a piece of paper was another thing. It was bad that the technician did that but it didn't matter to me. I just buffed and cleaned the floor up. You can still see the scratch but it's blended in. They fixed my refrigerator. So it's good now.
When I went on the AHS website, I messed up on the date that I want my service. So I tried to cancel the first one and then try to submit another. Then when I went back to it, the first one didn't cancel and I got two appointments. So I canceled both of them and then made a brand new one. Then there were three appointments for the same thing. So I was trying to get ahold of them but it was hard to do. On their recording, it said that the long wait time for service was because of COVID-19. It took me three tries. The first time I got put on hold for 15 minutes and did the same thing on the second call and then I finally gave up.
On the third call, I finally got somebody and told AHS that I made a mistake on the day that I wanted the appointment and that I was trying to cancel it. Everybody is working at home for the most part. So they should at least have technicians manning the phone so at least their customers wouldn't have to wait so long and make multiple attempts to get a hold of them.

When submitting claims to American Home Shield, which is very easy, I can either call or do it online. We've definitely got our money's worth with American Home Shield. They got all the problems in our home fixed as fast as they could. The issue was fixed very quickly when the contractor, Advanced Electrical Solutions, came out and we haven’t had any problem since. Everything is working very well. Sometimes, bad winters can cause an issue. We had an event during Christmas and they were able to find somebody to come out. We also had an issue with our washer where it had to be replaced a couple of times now. This last time, it took a while to get the new washer but that was only because it was during the COVID quarantine, which everything was taking forever, so it was not their fault. Other than that, my wife and I both appreciate AHS and we like that we got it when we purchased the home.

Metro Air Services came out and they had to replace a part. They came back the next day and replaced it. Now, everything works. The number one benefit of Home Shield over other home warranty companies is Home Shield lets us select our contractors. On the mobile version, you can't see what the contractors' scores are, so I originally just went with whoever was the first one that was listed. I had a really bad experience when I called them so I checked their Google Maps and they have a 1.7 review. I cancelled them and did a new claim. This time, I looked up companies and the one I selected had a 4.7. Everything went great. The ability to have that selection and not be forced is huge. It sets Home Shield apart.

Expert Pools has been out several times for us through Home Shield and they have always been wonderful. Whenever we put an issue in, they respond pretty quickly, even if it was on a weekend, and they come out here pretty quick. They're efficient, they seem honest, and very helpful. The tech would knock on the door when he was done to let me know he was finished. He would step away once I opened the door. The Plumbing Company came out for my water heater. It was all corroded and they told me it was very dangerous. It had a hole in it and they said it could've exploded or something. It took the tech all day to do the repair because the top of the water heater that was sent out was the wrong top. He had to get another one. He was here most of the day trying to get it in but he handled the job. Also, he was very nice and polite. Then, another guy had to bring in another part because stuff just wasn't right with that machine. The water heater has been doing its job, although sometimes the water doesn't get as hot as it should.
But I'm a little ticked off at Home Shield right now because my refrigerator was leaking and I terminated my warranty with Frigidaire because I thought it was an overkill paying them all that money each year and then paying monthly for American Home Shield. My refrigerator has a hole in the back of it because there's a defect in the way they made the refrigerator in the back. The guy they sent out stopped the leak but the problem isn't solved. Home Shield had me reach out to Frigidaire but I can't get a hold of anybody at Frigidaire. I'm ticked off about it and American Home Shield refuses to do anything because they say it's a factory defect. Even though I'm making monthly payments for their service, they don't wanna replace my refrigerator. It's not fair. They're getting a lot of money out of me each month. All of a sudden, there was no water coming out of the dishwasher anymore. It was running, but it was dry. ARO Appliance Repair handled it well. They sent someone out pretty quickly and I was updated via text message. It was pretty cool. They sent me a text when they had scheduled the person and they gave me a window of time that they would come, and then I got another text when that person was on the way. He came and said he needed to order a part. After he left, I got text messages again saying when the part was ordered and when I could expect to return. Then he came back and installed it when he was here very quickly. It's been working fine ever since then.
I had another situation with my water heater where I had someone come out. A piping on my water heater wasn't allowing for an accurate flow. So, the technician altered it. But then, after that fact, I approved the work. Months later down the road, when it comes time for me to take out my furnace air filter, I'm supposed to take the furnace air filter out and vacuum it out like every three months. So those three months came and I went to pull out the filter to vacuum the furnace air filter, and I couldn't pull the air filter out because the way that the technician had restructured the piping, it was blocking it.
I fought back and forth with American Home Shield where they weren't gonna send somebody back out because they said, "You approved it." I told them, "Yes, I approved it, but I didn't know at that time that it was obstructing it." You don't clean the air filter every day or even every mont. So, that was something that was very frustrating for me considering that I had already paid for it. If someone already paid for something, and even if they've approved the work, if there's something like a time delay for a valid reason, American Home Shield should be willing to work with people. But other than that, their service has been great.

Something was wrong with my dryer. When the Wilk's Appliance Repair tech first came, my daughter was here and I was on my way home. When I got here, he was running out to get a part. And then he came back and fixed whatever, and then he left. He was a nice guy. That was a couple of weeks ago and that one has been fixed. But then two weeks after my dryer, I had problems with my washer. Before Tuesday, Sears came out and looked at it. The tech told my daughter he couldn't diagnose it, so then that was when it was sent to Wilk's. And then Wilk's came on Tuesday. The tech told my daughter again that he ordered the washer top. She said something on the inside of the washer under the top was broken, and so the tech would order a top. That's what I'm waiting on.
I called that 188 number for my appliances. When my dryer went out, I wanted to add my washer just because it was acting up, but I couldn't do it. So, I just was like, “It's still working, and I'll just deal with it. I'm dealing with it.” Because I have to push on the top. But two weeks later, that was when it went out. I had to pay another $75 because I couldn't speak to somebody to add two things. First, it was my dryer. That was one week. Then the next week, my AC went out. And then the third week, it was my washer. But other than that, I'm very satisfied. When I first heard about Home Shield, I thought it was excellent. I have a lot of appliances and I'm a single parent. If something goes out, I can just make that call and just pay $75. That's perfect for me.

I still don't think it should take 4 months to get your refrigerator fixed.
Original Review: Aug. 21, 2020
Legum's Heating & Cooling came out and was great. They ended up having to come out three different times because once they fixed the first thing, it was running again and then they realized something else was wrong with it ‘cause it stopped cooling again. Apparently, there was a Freon leak, so we did the Freon first and then the second time, when they came out, they had to replace a small piece up in the unit in the attic. Then the third time they came out, they had to replace the air coil ‘cause that was where the actual Freon leak was. They made sure to keep their distance. They didn’t get right up near us and they were also wearing face masks. It was the same guy, Adam, that came out each time, and then the second and third time, he had an apprentice with him, and they both did the same thing.
However, I'm not really happy with my refrigerator because that was another claim that I turned in the same day. All of a sudden, it side stopped cooling, and the contractor had to wait on Samsung parts. They just came out yesterday and installed the part and I called on June 23rd. The parts were on backorder and supposed to take 7 to 10 days to come in. Then Samsung pushed that date out to where it was just a backorder. It didn't even have an estimated date.
I finally had to get a broker friend of mine to reach out to somebody because I was not getting any answers from American Home Shield. When I would call the toll-free number, they would tell me that they're not able to transfer to anybody, that it's with Parts now, so until Parts states it they can't do anything. I asked them how long I am supposed to go without having this major appliance and I could never get an answer. I was talking to the lowest person on the totem pole and they would not transfer me or give me a phone number to talk to their manager or anybody else.

The first time American Home Shield sent a contractor for our washer issue, we tried to explain that our unit doesn't finish the cycle. The first contractor then said that was because we would put in too much clothes. I told them that something was not right because the washer does not finish the cycle. He then says "No, no, no. It's good, it's good". He opened the top of the washer and looked at it and said everything was fine and that I just shouldn't put too much clothes in the washer. After he left, my wife put in a load and the problem happens just the same.
I called American Home Shield and they sent me the same guy. He then said that he told us already not to put too much clothes. I told him that wasn't the problem and that he needed to fix the issue. He opened the top of the washer again and looked at it but didn't do anything. He then took off and I didn't even sign a paper with him. He didn't know anything. Plus, he drove a normal car which was not professional.
The second guy AHS sent showed up in a van with all his tools and with the name of the company he was representing. He said that I was 100% right that my washer is not good. He told us what the problem was and it was a pump that was not working. He did the work that he was supposed to do and fixed my problem right away. Currently, I'm satisfied with Home Shield as long as they send professional people to fix whatever my issue is.

The first problem was the dishwasher. There was a film and the dishwasher wasn't heating properly. Crawford Appliance took a bit for them to get there. There was some confusion over what the root cause was and how to fix it. But the ultimate resolution was fine. The dishwasher works fine now. The most recent one was the oven. It was overheating. It would just run away and the fans would not firing on. Crawford came in, made an assessment and ordered some parts. It took a couple of weeks, then they came back, put the parts in, and that was it. The oven is working fine. We were concerned at the beginning that the fans weren't going on, but they go on, and it hasn't had the issue.
Having Home Shield has been more or less a fine experience. However, coordinating the scheduling would be beneficial. With all the contractors we have dealt with, there was a huge range of how Home Shield handled communication. We had a leak that was just resolved this last week. Getting the hole in the ceiling fixed took a week. The guys never called. I had to call, and then Home Shield got them on the phone, and then they didn't show up when they said they would. And then I called again, the guy said, "Oh, yeah, I'll come tomorrow." So, sometimes, the contractors were not always all responsive or easy to work with, but it is what it is. If somebody asked me, I would say Home Shield is worthwhile to do. They should go and do it.

He had his mask on and I had mine on too. He had gloves and we stayed six feet apart.

I had a leak and I thought it was coming from my water heater. American Home Shield had Plumbers Inc. come out and their guy spotted the problem pretty fast. I had a couple of people who kinda glanced at it and they said the water heater was leaking. But it actually happened to be the line that runs from the refrigerator that ran through there. It was like a little plug. The guy was able to come back and fix it so that went well.
But I have an issue with another situation. I had a company come out for my range and my refrigerator. It was the same company. The tech made some adjustments on the fridge and I haven't had the issues with the appliance. But for the range, the issue was not happening at the time that the tech visited. We set the range to 400 but it would only go to 325 then 500. Whatever it was, it was always lower and you couldn't really tell what it was getting to. The problem was probably the thermometer and I told the tech about it. A couple of weeks after, the range started doing it again. We've kinda mastered it now. If we want a 450, we have to do 475. It's basically 25 degrees lower.
I called the company to try to ask them to come back out and look at the range. But they said I should call Home Shield which I did. I kinda selected the method to not hold then be called. Someone called me but they had bad service and we got disconnected. They never called me back. I would have to go through the process of calling again and asking to be called back.
With American Home Shield, I wanted to see if they could come back and fix that issue because the techs didn't look into it. I told the guy that something was wrong but they didn't look into the temperature gauge and just said it was probably just the power outage reset. Maybe it was due to a power outage because every now and then we have one. But he didn't check it. Obviously, there was something wrong with the gauge.
A home warranty is pretty useful if you're getting a place with appliances and you have an issue. A contractor would come check it out and hopefully fix it. I haven't had any issues yet except for that one person who came out and didn't do due diligence. But that's not American Home Shield, that was the company. Still, I need to get my range checked out.

We had an AC that wasn't cooling and submitting the claim was really easy, efficient and thorough. You just go online and type in what the issue is. Within 24 hours, a company calls you. They're pretty efficient at getting you scheduled in within the next day or two maximum. They come out and take care of the issue. We had a pool issue and it was the same process. Everyone's been super professional. There was one thing we had called back on and they were back out and took care of it again without any additional fees.
My experience with American Home Shield has been surprisingly exactly what they promote and easier to deal with issues. I just would like to be able to kind of send something out to friends or neighbors like some kind of a link. It'd be cool to kinda share the information. Also, if they got any kind of little brownie points or little credits, that would be good.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

My niece had had really good luck with American Home Shield and she had given me a really good recommendation on them so I went with them. I renewed them just to keep the warranty. Our AC keeps breaking. It stopped last night. So this is the fourth time that I've had to claim on it for the same thing. At one of those times, I was out of air conditioning for two days and it was 107 degrees. Last year, I had a claim for the AC and it was a different contractor. But this year during this time, it's been the same one, Cabot. The compressor is completely out and the technician from Cabot Mechanical has been out here about four times on this same issue. They're gonna replace the compressor. The tech's supervisor called me and said that they sent a request to American Home Shield to either approve or deny it. If AHS approved it, then Cabot Mechanical would order the unit. As of right now, I don't have any air conditioning.

At that time I requested, I had another refrigerator that's in my husband's man cave that wasn't working properly. I thought since I did one claim, they could look at both of them. I had asked for them to check both refrigerators and he said he didn't have it on his orders so he couldn't check the other one, meaning that I would have to call Home Shield again then pay another $125 to see about getting the other refrigerator fixed.

Sears was phenomenal. I used to have them but I stopped them because the stores were dying. I tried another service through our local utilities and it was horrible. Then a friend recommended American Home Shield. They're average though. They’re not as good as Sears who had their own repair people so they had a little bit more control over response times. I had an issue with the microwave and AHS assigned me one repair place. The rep was very upfront and told me they were busy and couldn’t even schedule a time. She said she would get back with me or I could call her back. After two weeks, it dawned on me that I never heard back from them. So, I called then and they still couldn’t schedule a time.
I called AHS and they gave me somebody else. It still took a good week or longer to get somebody out, and then to get the part. It was well over a month before the microwave got finished from the time I called. It was a real pain not having a microwave. We could use it but we kept thinking if we should be using it. When the AC died in a very hot time, I thought of buying fans. But the company responded that day and they asked if they could be out the next day. They fixed it on the spot so I was quite pleased with the air conditioning. The contractor, Quality Air Experts, responded the quickest I've ever had anybody respond with American Home Shield. I almost dropped AHS because the response time was so long and it just wasn't worth it. But the AC renewed my faith in them again and I gave them another chance.
AHS needs to be more hands on and work on their follow through. Once they assign somebody, it’s hands off for them. I had to follow through constantly and the appliance was not getting fixed. I called them back and they got somebody else. They should have a little bit more oversight on these different contractors that they have. They should have somebody to follow through if the work got done. I seriously thought about seeing if Sears still does their home repair because if they do, I will take them back in a heartbeat. They were also cheaper monthly. It was almost half the fee, monthly, compared to American Home Shield. The deductible with Sears was only $50 whereas it was 100 with AHS. So, I got way more with Sears.

When I first got my home, American Home Shield's coverage got passed on to me. The previous owners already had an open claim for an air conditioner. It was disclosed to me at the closing table that the AC involved was not working but the claim was already paid for in terms of service charge. I then had to pay a separate charge for extra parts. When I tried to open that claim, there was a discrepancy. This was back when AHS went through JK Plumbing and they had a lot of complaints. Other than that issue, everything has been great with Home Shield.
Recently, there was a blockage in my water drain. Home Shield sent out JP Plumbing & Heating to handle it. The tech who came was pretty quick and he had a mask on. He snaked out the blockage and resolved the issue. Having AHS's coverage benefited me for my drain stoppage and my air conditioner. I'm gonna end up renewing because there are old mechanical stuff in my house and it would be helpful to have those covered.

At first, the technicians from Ace Heating didn't quite have the problem diagnosed correctly, so it didn't resolve the issue totally. But they came out a couple of days later and replaced the parts that needed to be replaced. I haven't had a problem since. Also, they were great about taking precautions due to the pandemic. Ever since we have been with American Home Shield, they’ve been great too and everything has been resolved. AHS has always been good. We called a previous time and the guy came out and gave a wacky assessment. American said not to worry and they would send another one.
Three months back though, we had a plumbing issue. We had no pressure on our faucet in our kitchen sink. It hasn’t been resolved yet. We haven't had any communication and it's been frustrating. It could be a circumstantial thing and I hate to get a small local business in trouble but Matt’s Plumbing is not very responsive. If I'm running a business and the parts are delayed, I’d at least call or send a note that says we haven’t forgotten and that due to COVID, parts are delayed. The only time we hear from them is when we reach out and it’s never an answer that says what is going on. I paid the copay already the first time. They said there was a delay on parts. So American Home Shield would probably want to close this out, but they would contact them and tell them it needs to be extended. But I don't know for sure if that’s where it’s at or what the deal is.

About a year ago, I had somebody come to try to find out what was wrong with my AC. Those techs said they could not find a leak. They put a bunch of refrigerant in it. This past May, my AC was not cooling again. I called in the issue to American Home Shield and their techs from Ace Air Conditioning and Heating came out. The techs said that I was completely out of refrigerant. They filled my AC unit with something else to see if they could find the leak and what they used would seal a leak if there is one. It didn't seal the leak so we had to call them back again. Ace came back and said that they couldn't find the leak and some leaks were hard to find especially when they're in the condenser. So, I have paid the service fee and AHS has paid a certain fee three times already and still, we don't have a solution. My AC is cooling now after the last techs put refrigerant in it but it doesn't last.
Additionally, the techs who came said that they have heard that in apartment complexes, kids drain the refrigerant. They asked me if I thought that could happen at my location. I told them I don't have that kind of problem here and what they were suggesting seemed really farfetched. When Ace came in May, I paid for refrigerant. When I had a call again in July, Home Shield was gonna assign somebody else. I told them that I'd rather have the same people come out because they were very thorough. My house is cooling right now but I won't feel comfortable until we've found the leak. The techs have told me that it's hard to get a warranty company to change my condenser. They said they had to prove that it was a condenser leak.
For other claims such as for our blower and heater, things went relatively well but I still had sort of a fight with their contractor, Epic, because they wanted me to pay for the needed part upfront. I said, "doesn't the contractor pay for the part and get reimbursed?". At that person, no one could answer my questions whether the part needed was under warranty or not and whether I should buy it. Epic told me the part was not under warranty. One rep told me that my warranty expires in a certain number of years. Another rep told me that the warranty for my blower would be for four more years.
Epic responded saying that they were not gonna use their credit card for the part needed. I finally called the company that made the needed blower and read them the amount needed. I then paid over the telephone for the part and then I got reimbursed. When my issue with my AC came out in may, Home Shield told me that Epic would be calling me. I told them I didn't want to have Epic. I told AHS that I had to jump through hoops to get them to figure out what was wrong with my heater.
Even though right now everything is good, I'm a little Frustrated with Home Shield. The last contractor I got isn't the problem. The one I got was very honest with me. Still, some of the contractors don't know AHS's system. They don't know that they can get a part or how to check if something is under warranty. I went in circles a bit but things turned out fine.

He still couldn't get it fixed and he said he would have to replace the whole door on the freezer to get it to work. And so, we were offered the amount to put towards a new refrigerator if we wanted it. The rep told us to go buy a refrigerator and email her the receipt. Then, American Home Shield could process it. The AC was clanging and it stopped working. We submitted a claim with AHS and the gentleman that they sent out was very good. The first time he came, it was four days after I called, and he said it was the compressor that was gone. This house was built in 2006 and I moved in last year. He told me that this unit was probably still the same air conditioner and they usually go out after 12 years. He said that I needed a new air compressor but he said that he had to talk to the insurance company. Then, they had to order it and when it finally came in, he came over and it cost me another $120 over the $75 service fee.
He was very professional and he knew his stuff. He had to wait a couple of weeks to get the parts though and we ended up waiting for almost a month. It should have been fixed in a few days and I shouldn't have to wait that long. I also had to buy three room air conditioners in the meantime, which cost me $325, because I had no air conditioning here in Florida. You'll die without air conditioning in the house in the summer. But everything was well in the end and the AC is working good now. All in all, I'm happy with American Home Shield.

I spent ANOTHER 20 MINUTES ON HOLD. Finally, the phone picked up AND CUT ME OFF. Called back later- ANOTHER 45 MINUTES ON HOLD. I purchased home warranty from American Home Shield for HVAC and Home well systems. I was told there was a one month waiting period and a 100.00 service fee per call and that I could cancel my contract at any time without a cancellation fee even if I had already received a service on my appliance. After a month wait I logged into my account and paid the service fee and was given the name and phone number of a AC repair mechanic. I called that number multiple times and left messages that day but no response from the mechanic. I called AHS phone and there was a hold of hours with no call back option. I logged into my account to see if there was a way send a message or email to AHS. There was no other way to contact AHS except by phone. I suspected fraud.
In my account a live chat window popped up and I was able to cancel my contract through live chat. Later that day a woman from AHS called and persuaded me to give AHS another chance and offered both AC and Furnace service with same contractor for 100.00 instead of 200.00 service fee and promised that contractor will call me within 24-48 hours. No call came. I made numerous unsuccessful attempts and spend hours to contact both AHS and the mechanic. There was no way I could cancel this contact thru AHS as the only way to reach them was by phone number listed under "CONTACT US".
Fearing I was scammed, I called my credit card company and explained the situation. They emailed me back the same day and refunded the monies I had paid AHS. Since then I have been receiving emails from a "no reply" address from AHS demanding past due debt and threats for collection proceedings. I have replied to the emails, called and texted the phone number listed in the emails explaining the issues and that AHS was in breach of contractual agreement and has failed to provide the promised service for which I had paid premium and service fees.
I called the number listed in last email from AHS and after spending hours I was able to speak with a woman who told me that there was no HVAC contractor in the area where I lived and therefore my appliances can not be serviced. She transferred me over to the cancellation department and the call center lady insisted that I owed AHS a cancellation fee of 99.00 and would not let me have her supervisors phone or email address and would not bring her supervisor on line. She said in order to avoid collection of debt I need to resolve the issue with **.
So my take on this company is that it is fraud. The company sells you services and collects premiums and service fee but has no contractor to provide the service. It traps you in a contract that you have no way of cancelling as the only way to reach the AHS is by phone which no one answers. It gives you phone number of contractor that do not exist and then charges the customer a cancellation fee. A pretty good business model to make money by simply collecting premiums, service fees, and cancellation charges. I would never do any business with AHS ever again.

Once you get on the phone with Home Shield, it's a breeze. But sometimes, you can wait close to an hour for somebody to answer the phone. That might be a problem if there was a major crisis. But my husband and I are both semi-retired so it was just about putting the phone on speakerphone and continuing to make breakfast or whatever else. And then when the reps got on the phone, they immediately took charge of the issue and got somebody in the area to come out. It was very quick. We had two other times when we spoke with Home Shield about other things recently, and they were both handled really well from once they picked up the phone.
Home Shield has improved the call wait time. They have offered an online way of making a claim. It's just that we prefer to wait to speak with a person. They have been very receptive and quick. And then, after you get to them, they also send texts and emails when the tech is about to come out. You can monitor the techs coming out. And the tech calls you, or you can call them directly. They give you the phone number for the person that they consulted with, and then you can contact them about it if you need to change the time. It's all very transparent. Recently, we had a problem with our sink. There was a leak, and it was not initially repaired perfectly. There was another leak after it was initially repaired, and then Colorado First came out again and repaired it perfectly.

So, he took his shoes off at the door and was very complimentary. He did what he needed to do then he left. He was also very upfront in telling me how long it would take to repair the oven. But the part came in ahead of schedule. He made a phone call, then he came out and was on time. He promptly corrected the problem and didn't leave until he made sure that the oven worked. Other than that, I switched companies many years ago because the service from AHS wasn't stellar at all. It was awful. But I ended up coming back to them and my first experience coming back with them was good. So whatever they did was working.

Recently, we had a sewage back up in our bathtub, in the shower, and the toilets weren't flushing. The first company that cam and they said they couldn't help as they don't have the tools. They were worthless. I don't want them ever sent here again. Then the guy from the second company was rude to us and he never returned the call nor showed up.
The third company was Plumb-Rite and the guy came to the door and asked what the problem was. We told him and he said that he didn't have to come in and that he could just do it right outside our house. He did the cleanout and he said that probably what it was, the people had gone to the bathroom and then nothing had flushed, completely flushed it out. He told us what to do in the house. He was just nice as pie.
We don't want anybody else but Plumb-Rite to come to the house. They were the greatest and I would recommend them, top-of-the-line. However, AHS should not have the other two companies do business. I've heard really bad things about the first company. All they do is come in, say they can't do anything, and then leave. Then AHS ends up having to pay them, which is ridiculous for them not doing their thing.

I have a rental property and when the AC in that rental was just blowing hot air, I made a claim with American Home Shield. Given the dynamics now with COVID, I like to speak with someone directly. But I can do a claim online as well. What I like is once it is there, you get the information on whoever they're sending out so that you're able to call them immediately and try to schedule an appointment rather than waiting for them to get back.
AC Blue Air Heating was the contractor and they did great in the sense that it was record-heat at that time and they got at the rental as soon as they could. The tech said it was a condenser issue. They had to go back a second time because the tenant indicated there was an issue and it turned out that they needed to refill with Freon and tighten a valve. The gentleman at AC Blue took my calls when I had concerns. Given the record-heat and that they were busy, they got in there again when something else came up and addressed it. If there was a customer calling as many times as I did, I probably would have been frustrated. But the gentleman always addressed my concerns. I never felt that I was bugging him. I had a lot of questions. I've been pleased all in all with American Home Shield.

Recently, I called the main warranty service and submitted a claim online. The contractor came out, and then he went to the attic and found that I had a bad blower motor. Then since it’s an older system, they had to order parts. Then he came back about three business days later and then installed it. Then we're good, great work. He was great. He was an individual, sole proprietor. He was fast, ran inside and jumped in. I gave him a heads-up of what was going on with the system because I’m a little familiar with air conditioning. Then I said, “I already looked at this," or “I already looked at that.” The motor was making noise up in the attic. It stopped and then it started, and stopped and started. So, I said, “That's gonna be your problem.” I helped him out and then he went in there and then took it apart.

The microwave in the house my renter was living in wasn't working. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield for it was easy. Anytime I have to file a claim with them, I always get someone. During the time of the Coronavirus, it has been a bit difficult because of the high volume of call but any other time, AHS would send someone out to my place by the next day. For this claim, AHS's contractor, Austin Appliance came and the techs checked my circuit breakers. One of the outlets in my kitchen needed to be reset and when that was done, my microwave started working. The tech did that before he started working on my microwave.

The other company I was with was horrible. They would have me wait weeks and weeks before they would come out and do the job. And then, I was very afraid of the contractors that they would contract out to my home. Also, it would sometimes take three or four weeks before I would get a job done. They would take my money but I would have to wait so long. It was just horrible service.
When my garbage disposal stopped working, I called Home Shield and I talked to the automated system. I was given a date and a time and a specific agency. I went online and looked up the reviews on that particular plumbing. And then, the other company had horrible reviews. I called Home Shield back, and then I spoke with someone. I said, “Could you please redirect me to another contractor because the one that the automated system gave me, did not have good reviews.” That's when they gave me Plumbers Inc. So I said, “Thank you very much.” They gave me just a few days later for Plumbers Inc to come out, which I was very happy for because I didn't have a sink at that point in time. They came in a timely manner. The young man was wonderful.

Any time we needed something done, we got it scheduled and handled very quickly. You call in, you get somebody. All the first initial contact is automated, and then someone gets back to you. But if my dad called and he got an automated thing and couldn't talk to somebody to get an appointment set up, it may be a little difficult for him. We were selling our house and the buyer hired a company to come out and look at the AC. He noticed this huge differential between the unit and the actual air conditioning. We put in the trouble ticket because we were having issues supposedly with our AC. Arctic Cooling Pros came out, did a meter test and said, "No you guys are fine." It was just a matter of the company that was hired trying to scam us into buying a bunch of work we didn't need done. Previously, but not with my current home, I got a couple iffy contractors that came out, but the work was done.

I called in about my dishwasher. One of the top racks where it holds the dishes in place fell over and when I called, the girl said, “Yeah, it's covered.” They sent a man out and they charged me $100. He ordered the part and I got a letter that said that the part is on backorder. It’d be August before I get it and then I got a letter the other day that said they're not covering it. I spoke to a representative after waiting an hour and a half on hold, and he said that he'll try to get my $100 back. I told him I was gonna cancel my policy if I didn’t and he said, “Well, we’ll see what we can do.” but I never heard anything after that.
Overall, my experience is not very good. It was easy to submit the claim and everything was fine till I got that letter. I can’t get them on the phone and when a lady answered, she was all garbled. I asked her to please call me back and I gave her the number. She then hung up, but I never heard from her again, so then I had to try to get them again. American Home Shield is terrible. I also went on their Facebook page and all the way down, people are complaining.

We filed the claim, Mills Electric came out and figured out what was going on with the issue. I had a breaker that was tripping. Mills came out and found that the circuit from the box to the outlets was bad. The wire was bad and it had a short somewhere in the wire. So, they had to run a new circuit board. That was on a Friday. And then, they said that they had to get approval from Home Shield before they could continue any further. They couldn't just run a new circuit. They could have repaired whatever was here, but since they had to run a new circuit, they said that was what they had to get the approval for. Two weeks later, I checked my American Home Shield on the website and it said that the job was completed, but they have never been back out.
I had to call Home Shield and figure out what was going on. They said that they had just closed it and they contacted Mills, who then told them that they were still waiting on approval. And from my understanding, that day, it got approved. And then, they came out and fixed it the day after that. It was a whole two-week process waiting for Home Shield’s approval for them to get started, and then Home Shield said it was completed before they even came back. That was the only thing I had a problem with. Whenever they were here, the interaction was great. Whenever it finally got done, it went great. Everything is fixed.
We've had to use Home Shield twice and I've been happy with both results. Both of them were issues that were supposed to be covered, and they got covered and fixed. Their waiting time was a little to be desired, but it’s all right. I could understand that. We’re talking about renewing Home Shield whenever it comes up next month, and we’re thinking about adding the appliances to it, too. We’re thinking about adding more coverage than what we have now. We're happy with the service. It’s just a little tweaks that we would like to change.

My parents had American Home Shield since they've owned their home and they've always had good recommendations. When it was time for us to switch warranties, I switched over to American Home Shield and I've loved using it so far. We've just recently gotten it but it was able to come in the time of need. The AC stopped blowing hot air and the fan of the outside unit stopped spinning. We ended up contacting them through their website. It was the next morning that I got a call to set up with Island Breeze for their person to come out.
The guy came out the next day. He checked the thermostat, checked upstairs, made sure it wasn't like water pan, and then he did everything outside and there was a wire or something that was faulty. He was really knowledgeable with us, like how to upkeep it and do some things for ourselves. We can keep it better running, I guess. It just really worked really well for us. American Home Shield was a lot quicker than my old warranty. My old warranty was nine days before I had someone out. It's convenient, we have that safety net if it's something that they can troubleshoot. It's also more cost-effective that way than having to hire out and then build that.

The washer did not complete a washing cycle and soapy water went everywhere. I had to clean that up. But the pump went out on it. Prosam Service's technician did a great job. He just didn't have enough tools and equipment to do the job. If he will work on something that has water in it, he should've had a bucket. He was working on my washing machine, and he had to use my bucket and I had to clean up after him. That was the only issue. Other than that, he was prompt, pleasant, professional, and very efficient. On the other hand, the dishwasher was clogged with old liquid dish soap. The tech removed all of that and cleaned it up, and gave me some advice how to treat the dishwasher. After I run a cycle, he asked me to put some vinegar in it and water. Everything is working great.
I canceled Home Shield because they're too expensive. They've gone up every couple of years and I know that I need it, but I just couldn't afford it anymore. I'm not working anymore because of the pandemic and I can't afford to pay the monthly bill. But I've had them for years and they have been great. I always enjoy speaking with the staff via telephone. Everyone was always professional. I've had one issue where the provider that was selected to come out for a repair did not call me within 24 hours, and I had to wait a couple of days for them. That was for my AC. When I called them, the female on the line was a little abrasive on the phone. She said, "Well, we'll call you back," and, "We're sorry, we can't get there right now." She didn't tell me what they could do. She told me what they couldn't do and I just didn't like that particular customer service experience. But that was just the only issue I had.

I’ve used American Home Shield only once so it’s standard. You pay and they send someone out. The technician from Ramey Appliance fixed the refrigerator. When they came, they wore masks and gloves, and took their shoes off at the door.

The AC unit in my home stopped working. I created a service request to American Home Shield and they assigned Main Line Plumbing to fix the issue. It took a few work days before they could come in. When they did, the technician who came was knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and realized that there was a part that needed to be replaced. He fixed the unit temporarily and did a workaround. My AC unit was continuously running for two weeks 'til the date they said they would come back with the needed part. It took more than two weeks before they could find a replacement. They came back and replaced what I had and now the unit is working fine.
Considering what I've gone through in the past with AHS, my experience with this claim has been much better. I'm not too unhappy with the way the techs from Main Line worked. They were efficient but the amount of time it took to fix my issue was long. It should not take more than two weeks to fix an AC unit. We had a workaround but if we didn't have our AC for two weeks, there was no way we could have stayed at our place. If I call AHS, they would only say that they have already assigned a contractor who would have to work on my issue. If I call the guys they assigned, they would say that they have already ordered the needed part and that they are only waiting for it to come in. That process is extended and they don't care what happens next.
Contractors should have a way to communicate with American Home Shield. AHS should then communicate with their customers about the problems being encountered and let them know what the possible solution is. What happens is that the contractor just communicates with the customer saying they are expecting a part and that is the end of it. They do not know what the status is or how long it will take before they fix my issue. AHS should be involved in every stage of the repair process. That process has to be transparent. When it comes to replacing whole units, AHS handles that well. When they tag contractors to work though, they don't have any visibility and they don't tell if the job is getting finished.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

Every time I do Home Shield, I have to go online, pay a $75-deductible and then tell them in a few words what the claim is about. What I found that's irritating is that sometimes if you need to get ahold of someone at Home Shield, it's an hour to an hour and a half long before you ever get ahold of somebody. Precision Door Service came out to looked at my garage door because it wouldn't open. And when they looked at it, they discovered that the actual wire had come loose. They repaired the wire, said that there was really nothing else they needed to do to it, and that was it. The other warranties I've used before don't pay a deductible until they come out. And when they come out, I pay it to them.
Some contractors are good, some are bad. Home Shield had the plumber guy come out for one of my claims. They were awful. I ended up having to appeal the claim because they rejected it because of what the plumber said. I had a leak and the plumber blamed the leak on water pressure which was absolutely insane because I had low water pressure in this house when I first moved in. So then, I brought my own plumber out because I wanted a second opinion.
That plumber, Metz Plumbing, checked and said, "No. The water pressure is right on the money." They were great. I ended up getting them to approve the claim and they had to send me a manual check. But it was a whole process just to get my money back. Long story short, I ended up having to get my Realtor involved, who got ahold of a supervisor of that warranty company that just happened to be the district manager, and they went through and got me the approval. The process shouldn't have been like that. They approved it. But if I didn't push it, I probably never got my money back. Some people don't know about it. They are told it's not covered and that's it.
Home Shield ought to fix where we could choose our own contractors. That would be the easiest way to do it because I've had two contractors for two different claims that were coming over an hour away. That made no sense when there is a reputable plumbing company that was 20 minutes away. And when I called them, they came out, looked at it, checked the water pressure, and fixed it that day. Every time I've had somebody come in where they sent a contractor out, it was never fixed that day. They always had to go order a part, come back, make sure that the warranty would pay. It was silly.

I went online and submitted the claim for the air conditioning. The contractor gave me options to do the minimal replacement of the heating coil, which they downplayed that I wanna do that. They gave me the medium fix, which would be replace part of my unit. Then they gave me the total fix, which was paying a whole lot more than I should for a brand new unit. They installed it and American Home Shield paid $800 out of $7,000. I haven't been able to communicate with them. They're very difficult to get in touch with. The customer service line number is in Malaysia and they can't tell you anything. They can't troubleshoot for you. They can't connect you to anybody. They can give you a phone number. You call the phone number but nobody ever answers it. So it's a dead-end. Right now, I'm upset with American Home Shield because they've given me almost next to nothing for my claim.
The first claim I had with American Home Shield was for my water heater and I was decently satisfied with it. They sent me a check for the water heater and I had it replaced. I just had it installed. So they gave me a good value. With the air conditioner, I could have had unrealistic expectations on my part. It could be that I didn't understand the contract or that I've had too many claims in one year.
You pay 60 or 70 bucks a month to cover everything you could possibly cover in your house and they say that you have to wait a month to get that active. But they don't really tell me how many times I can use it. So I'm a little disappointed in what they've done for the air conditioner. I thought that American Home Shield would pay more than less than $1,000. There ought to be a number for claims or a number that gets you straight into the department that can talk to you about the claim process, not just the customer service part. I haven't found a number that can get me straight into the person who I need to talk to.

It was hot here in Houston and he said that they really got to get on that before the pool would turn green and it was also my concern. The technician, Pete, called late that night and said that he'd be here first thing in the morning and he did. He also called when he was 20 minutes away. When he got out of his truck, he had a mask and he asked for a hand sanitizer and then he brought wipes. I opened the gate and we had social distance. I opened my gate for him. I couldn't close my shower all the way up and it was leaking. When I filed a service claim through the website, I also called for an appointment. After I paid the service fee of $100, American Home Shield sent a plumber to my house and he didn't even look at it. He said to me, "The water pressure in your house, it’s too high. It's supposed to be 80 psi. It's 90 psi." I went to Home Depot and bought an Aqua meter to check the pressure myself. The water pressure in my house was 75 to 77. It wasn’t even over 80, like that guy said. This plumber stuck a hose on the water input going to my house as well and he destroyed the hose. I called American Home Shield and complained about it. They said, "Oh, we're gonna send somebody else.”
American Home Shield sent a second plumber to my house and he went and opened the shower in the wall. He found out the issue was the cartridge on my shower. The O-rings and stuff were destroyed with time and it didn't work. He said that he needed to contact American Home Shield to get the part. Per my understanding, because this was a very custom shower, it had a lifetime warranty. They didn't even have to pay for it and they're gonna get the money back.
The second plumber came to my house and fixed the shower as well and I paid for the hose that the first plumber broke in my house. I didn't want to go to the insurance company because this plumber charged me 40 or something dollars to fix it and it was less than I would pay with Home Shield. I paid those from my pocket, although Home Shield made all these damage in my house. Now the issue is fixed, but I was very disappointed by everything that was done.
My shower was leaking for more than a month and I had to take time off from work and spend time with those plumbers. I spent hours and hours with Home Shield on the phone to solve the issue and I just got a letter yesterday from them asking me for money again. They are saying they are not covering the service that was performed because the problem was the water pressure. This is even though the second plumber came and saw the issue was the cartridge of the shower, not the water pressure. I'm also wondering what is not covered, because they got money from the warranty of the shower too.

I've been in the house for two years. I've had the American Home Shield since I moved in. It was part of my closing. My Realtor set it up when I closed on the house, and then I renewed it last December. Our recent claim with AHS was for an HVAC tune-up. Clovis Heating went up on the roof where the HVAC unit is, and they used my hose to spray it down. I wasn't watching them the whole time, but they were up there for 30 minutes. They said there was just dust on it and that everything seemed to be working fine. I was told by American Home Shield that they were gonna assess what Clovis Heating had found or what they did. But, I never received anything back.
The only other time that I've called in was for my water heater. I'm single, and so even with me using hot water every day, my water heating bill was out of control, and then the reason I called in for my HVAC was 'cause my electric bill has been rising quite substantially compared to the houses around in my area. I'm by myself here. So paying $400 in the summer for electric when I'm running my AC at like 80 degrees, it just didn't make sense. So I called about my water heating issue and my water heater, and they told me that if it's not broken and I'm still getting hot water, that they can't service anything for me, and all they could do is send somebody out. I was told that even if they send somebody out, if it wasn't broken, then there's really nothing they could do.
The only reason I'm holding on to AHS is 'cause I have the base plan that only covers the big stuff. So, in the off chance that my HVAC fails, I wanted coverage for it. With the amount I pay yearly, it's worth it for me to have it for now. From the research I've done, HVACs are usually like a couple thousand just for the unit, and then labor. But AHS has been responsive and setting up appointments was easy.

We had a water heater problem and Central Ohio Home Maintenance got the problem fixed. But after they had completed the work, they had disrupted the water tank a little bit so there was some sediment that migrated out to the faucets and the rest of the house. They didn't think to tell me or clean those things out. I had to go to the house and take the the aerator out of the damn sinks where the water comes out, clean them and then put them back in. That's a mistake they made and I had tried to reach the plumber three or four times but they never returned the call. I don't know if they are just so busy but that's not a good indicator to me.
We went with American Home Shield because they were the name brand that was in the area and they were in the reasonable price range. However, I found it was difficult to reach them. Their phone system is not customer friendly. You have a long journey to get to a human being which is unacceptable to me. They need to make it easier for a customer when they're calling in with an issue to not go through an extensive menu of a lot of things that are just time wasters. We wanna get a problem and fixed. We don't wanna give our life history. Whether I renew or not at the end of the year is another question.

We’ve had them for eight years, so we’ve had good years with them and we’ve had not-so-good years with them. Having a warranty has been beneficial, but sometimes it feels like with American Home Shield that we're just pushed down the list for other service. I doubt they can do anything about that with their contractors, but they should have good contractors. We had something that took weeks to fix and I shouldn’t have to call the contractors. As of this year though, it’s been okay.
Submitting a claim is easy and we love Steinmetz HVAC. They came out before, and they were wonderful as well. They’re honest, on time and polite. They called and they came out when they said they’re gonna come out. They also explained the issue to my husband. Another thing is they were outside, but there were two of them working together and they had on their masks.

I like it 'cause you can get through fast. I got all kinds of notification as to when to expect the contractors out. Then when the contractors came, they called and let me know they were on their way. The contractor who came was a very good guy. First of all, he had on his own mask, which is very important 'cause I have a husband here on oxygen and very sick. So he covered his shoes and he went beyond his duty. He showed me a lot of things that were wrong that he didn't have to show me. He was a real friendly, professional guy. So far, the air conditioner has been going fine.
One thing I like about AHS is they do follow up. Then, the problem I had with the air conditioner, I like the fact that they didn't charge me again to send him out here. If they had a problem, they just corrected it. That means a lot when you are on a budget and it's good for a person like me that's on retirement. The repair has been wonderful because I have husband that's asthmatic. He's on oxygen and has OD. We couldn't stay in his house with no air. Unfortunately, when the air went out, God is good, he went to the hospital. It was unfortunate, but he didn't have to stay here during this heat. American Home Shield, I gotta give them credit. There was a big leak in the kitchen sink so the entire faucet was replaced. The tech came out to find out what needed to be done, then he had to get the parts and he came back some days later to install all the parts. Then I called back again because the flapper of the toilet in the master bathroom would stay in the up position whenever I flushed the toilet. So I had to manually push it down every time. We finally got that taken care of this past Monday. He made three trips to my house. Everything seems to be working fine.
With that last one, it took me a while to get them to come back again because I didn't call American Home Shield because I didn't wanna start another claim. I wanted them to fix the claim that I'd already opened. I requested the same tech because of this COVID-19. I don't want a lot of people in my house and they did honor that request.

I've been having problems all summer with my central air unit and different contractors have come out here. The first contractor Home Shield sent out said the blower is not blowing out enough air. He said that he put the paperwork in and that the blower needs to be replaced because it's not sufficient anymore. Home Shield tried to find a blower and then, for whatever reason, they sent out a second contractor.
Quality Air came out and said that my system was overcharged. The tech took some of the refrigerant stuff out and I really had a problem because then, it's blowing warm air. They also said I needed to do maintenance on my system and I needed to have it cleaned. I had it cleaned last year and it wasn't due yet but I went ahead and had it cleaned out. But it was still having the same problem. I called for Quality Air to come back out again. The tech told me that even though I had my system cleaned out, there was something that's sealed that the cleaners didn't get to. He had another excuse. I don't wanna deal with them because they always look for a different excuse than solve the problem. They always gotta come out two and three different times.
I called and complained so Home Shield sent a third contractor out, R&J Services. R&J said that my system was undercharged. I asked how it could be undercharged when the second contractor said it was overcharged. I'm fighting with Home Shield now. They said I have to pay $300 to get my system charged up and I asked why when the second contractor took stuff out.
We were in the middle of a heat wave and we had no air. I have a handicapped son and I had to go out and buy two units. And submitting this claim was horrible. The lines were so busy that I was on hold for a hour. The first thing I did was put in for them to give me a callback. Then I called back and was on hold for an hour, only for somebody to answer the phone and hang up. Trying to get back, I was on hold again. I had a three-hour wait before they even called me back. Then I finally get someone and I asked for a supervisor but they wanted to try to resolve the problem, which still kept me at step one. I wound up not getting the help that I needed.
I put in four requests for a supervisor and they transferred me. I got somebody who's a step in between the supervisor and the customer service person and that's when they sent the third person out. I had some customer service reps that really tried to work this out but I got stuck where nobody wants to give me a supervisor. To this day, I still have not heard from a supervisor.
The whole root of the problem is the blower and now, we're just coming out of the fifth heat wave. What is it gonna take? The blower blows for both systems. This winter, we're gonna be up in here with no heat. I'd rather deal with the heat wave and have them fix the system than try to heat this house up in the winter. It's been a very bad experience this year with Home Shield.

I had a problem with the water heater. AHS sent out Echo Plumbing. They were very responsive and everything went great. But we ended up a week without hot water and we had to boil water because the tech couldn't see us right away. We had to wait for our time, but he came as soon as he could see us. The heater went out on a Monday and he came on Thursday. Then he was right back on Monday with the water heater ready to go. He also wore a mask. We’re big COVID compliant people because I've got two kids with asthma and he was awesome with that. He was very clean and he used our back door, which meant that he didn't have to traipse through the house. He was very polite, too. Everything went very smoothly and the service was very fast.
I had another warranty one other time for a house I had in Virginia and I was a first time homeowner at that point. And every time I called there was some reason why they couldn't cover the repair. But I have not had that problem, not one time, so far with American Home Shield. The first time I signed up with them, I didn't pay for the warranty because I had it come with the house when I bought it. But I renewed and I've been so pleased that I did. It's a great peace of mind to know you've got that as a backup if you need it. I also love the online option. I've got kids and I'm super busy with them. I work full time as well and it is wonderful to be able to jump online really quick and not have to call in, sit on hold, and talk to a bunch of different people to get serviced.

I called AHS for a service on the smaller oven that we have. Something wasn't heating up. The dishwasher also had an issue. I've called them so many times and waited on the phone for two and three hours at a time. Then, they said that the contractors would get in contact with us and in the end, they sent a couple of different people. But the only thing we had a lot of problems with was getting the dishwasher. I wanted to stay with GE Appliances because that's what all we have in the house and I wanted to keep everything the same. But we were continuously told that nothing was available and that started in February. We finally bought our dishwasher installed about two weeks ago and we didn't even get a GE. I had to switch it over to a Whirlpool because AHS didn't have the inventory on the GE.
Other than that, the techs who came out were fantastic, efficient, and clean. They weren't messy as far as the work that they did but they tidied everything up. If I needed something and we didn't have American Home Shield, it would be a nice number to have to give them a call. When they were out to install the dishwasher, they also told me that we needed our garbage disposal replaced because something in the dishwasher runs through the garbage disposal and ours hasn't worked in a long time. We're composters so I put everything out anyway but they said that we need to have the garbage disposal replaced before we should use our dishwasher.
We also have a plumbing issue and my husband's been after me to call to schedule another appointment with the company that came to snake out our kitchen sink. It's just as bad as it was. But I haven't had the time to hang on the phone for two hours to wait to talk to somebody at American Home Shield because I don't feel that the company that they sent out did a decent job. I can't even do a whole sink’s worth of dishes to load.

I called American Home Shield on my icemaker and the time frame was like two weeks. That meant I gotta buy ice for two weeks. Because I couldn't wait, I fixed it. I thought I fixed it but it stopped making ice again so I called them. I was out of town so I told my wife what to do. She corrected it. It was working again so we cancelled it the second time but I did catch they were charging me $100 and I told them that I cancelled that one. I talked to a man about it the other day and he took care of it. Hopefully, they won't bill me for that one anymore. They said they would reimburse me. They’re very courteous and they seemed like they want to help the consumer. They're doing their job correctly.

My AC had stopped working. Lane Services came out the first time, put a couple of pounds of Freon in it and said that it was good. My house started to cool down, and then a few days later, it stopped. When I called American Home Shield back and told them my AC stopped working, they said, "We're gonna try to get the people out there." Then they called me back and said that Lane couldn't come out. They said they couldn't get anybody out here that day. They had to look around and they got another company.
The second company came out. The guy looked at everything, and he said that my coils had frozen over and that they were kinda dirty. He said that I didn't have any caps on my high and low port, which he said I'm supposed to have in case there is a leak in the seal. Lane had put some sealant in it to stop the leak. But he said that if you don't have the caps on it, then it doesn't matter because if there's a small leak, the caps will keep the Freon from escaping. Every time my unit was coming on, I was losing Freon. He said that I was gonna be needing to get my coils replaced too. He said that it wouldn't be a good idea for me to have not even the fan to the house to the unit running because it just might completely destroy.
Lane came out on the third time. The guy that came out put the Freon in, but I hadn't heard anything else about whether or not they're going to try to replace my coils because they were getting crusty and corroded and rusted out. All they did was just put the Freon in, and they put in eight pounds this time around. I'm kinda glad that I got my AC back, but now I am contemplating just going to get a whole new unit. I said, "If it took three times for you to come out here in August in Texas to fix my unit and everything, then we might have a little bit of a problem here." The second company was the only one that said that things needed to be replaced.
American Home Shield should take in consideration that if somebody is calling over appliances, they should start thinking that they might have to either replace components or replace complete systems, especially if they're looking at a system that is the same age as the house. My house is 20 years old, and I got an old unit.

I had Home Shield for two or three years and then I stopped. I came back and I've been with them a year or two. But I'm unhappy now and I'm gonna stop being a member or a customer because now it's changed. Two weeks ago, I had a couple leaks in the backyard and I got out my plan and it said that it covers leaks. I remembered when I signed up that they were trying to figure out which plan to put me on and I remember I went ahead and I bought the best plan they had. But I pulled out my plan and it said it covers leaks but I didn't know if it covers outdoor leaks.
I called Home Shield and they didn't have a person on the phone. The only thing on the phone was so automated. The only thing on the phone is just, “If you want to start a new service request, press one.” I hung up and I waited a couple of days because I needed to think it over. Is that worth the risk of $100? I thought it was. I have the Cadillac of their plans. I called back to see if I could talk to somebody and it doesn't have it as an option.
I went ahead and I thought they were gonna work with me. I paid $100 and the guys came out really fast. They were really friendly. But they said they don't think Home Shield covers it. But they put it in and they said I can talk to Home Shield. They didn't cover it and I was out $100. I still had both leaks. I was frustrated. I called earlier this week and said I'm gonna stop my membership. They were very nice then and the rep said she’d reimburse me. But I haven't seen it on my credit card statement. Also, she asked if they could keep me as a customer and I said no. I just wanna talk to somebody sometimes.
But my AC claim was good. The guy from Same Day Air Repair was timely, professional, super friendly, and super knowledgeable. He fixed the problem and he did it pretty quickly. I feel good about that. If I had talked to the lady that I talked to a couple of days ago sooner and someone provided me a phone number to contest it, that would have helped me and that would’ve helped my frustration level. The way I was, I was left with the same problem and I was out $100. The way I was looking at it was that I’m not only without $100, I was out $450 because that's my yearly plan. I paid $550 and there's nobody to talk to about my two leaks.

We have an automatic garage door. Then the mechanism in the machinery part of the garage door opener broke. Phoning in the claim was the only way I could file the claim because if I'd go online, there was nothing anywhere that would let me select garage door. It was almost an hour to get a live person on the line. But when I finally got to talk to someone from American Home Shield, it was great.
AHS said that the contractor would call me within two to three days but it ended up being five. AHS did call me back and said they were having a hard time getting ahold of someone. Then there was a little bit of a frustration 'cause not only did it take six days for the Lake Anna Garage Doors to call me, but then it also took five days when they finally came out to get the work done. So, I waited about 10 days before anybody actually showed up.
There's a hard plastic that is part of the mechanism for the garage door opener. The contractor said that this part has been known to wear out. So they replaced that part and tuned everything up so to speed. Everything's back to normal. Overall, I'm very happy with American Home Shield. But the time that it took to fix the issue was the most disappointing part.

So far, I really like American Home Shield. I've had several home warranty companies and AHS has been the best by far. However, I wish that they would bring their call center to American. They are in the Philippines and India and the accents of their agents can be so heavy and I get so frustrated repeating myself that I don't even call AHS now. I don't have time to repeat myself 100 times or ask the agents to repeat themselves. Instead, I go online and order what I need on their fabulous website. Regardless, AHS is really good and their prices are right. They're quick and they send out the best contractors. I've used my warranty six times in two years and I tell my husband not to ever argue with me when we renew our home warranty because it's gonna pay for itself.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

AHS let me know that there were some additional costs on top of acquiring a regular water heater as there were things that needed to be brought up to standard. We did that, got a new water heater and now it works great. We only had two to three hours without a water heater.
I also called Home Shield for a leak under my sink. I paid the $125 service fee and they set me up with a different plumbing company. The techs from there came within a two-day turnaround time. When we came in, part of the ceiling was all over the floor in our den. Water was coming down on too. We didn't know what was going on. We didn't even know that there was a return pipe in the attic. We called Allstate, our insurance company, and they referred us to our home warranty insurance. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a plumber. When the guy came out, he went up in the attic and checked everything out. One of his assistants went with him and they were able to put the pipe in. It didn't break. They said it was like somebody was heavy enough to step on it and just pushed through. They grabbed it and pushed it back together and that stopped the leaking.
The guy that was with the boss said that he had put it back together. However, the boss said it was just temporary because they'd had to put some kind of glue to make it tight and fit together. They said that they couldn't do that because they were plumbers and this was an air conditioning problem so they left it at that. American Home Shield sent another company which was Bennett. When the air conditioning guy came to the door, he had smelled what was, in his opinion, very dangerous to us and said that we needed to get out of the house. That kind of frightened us because he said he smelled mold and mildew. As it turned out, the whole ceiling has asbestos. Right now, they're working on it. They have sectioned off the area and they are running a test.

He tried to fix it but he said he couldn't, and then he said he just sent the information on to Home Shield. My wife was there and the tech told my wife exactly what he needed to do, and then he called us back saying he will come back and do the repairs. I was there that time and he said, “Hey, I got your dryer fixed,” explained what that was, and then he was able to explain to me that he wasn't able to fix the washer but would send that information on to Home Shield. I'm still waiting on that. It's getting to the point where I need to call them because it has been long enough.
The only downside is when I call in, it's a long wait on the phone call and I don't always have time to wait around. But I was able to talk to a person a few weeks ago and she said that the authorization unit would get back with me. I haven't heard. If I really needed it, if it's a furnace in the middle of winter and it took this long, I would be really concerned. If you call the sales line, they pick up within the first two minutes. Every call I've made for service has been between 60-90 minutes before anyone even picks up. Both service calls I've made result in the contractor doing no work, and American Home Shield marking the job "complete". (It was not complete, nor was the job even started on either occasion.) This necessitated that I call back in AGAIN and wait on hold for another 60-90 minutes to try and get AHS to perform under their warranty contract.
Plumbers aren't allowed to actually cut through anything but small pieces of drywall to access a problem area. They also can't fix the drywall, or return the area back to its original condition. You have to make a new service call, pay another deductible, etc etc. So the deductible for a job is rarely what they quote you. It is triple to quadruple, and if you need two people to come out (one to remove the ceiling panel, or access panel), and the plumber to do the plumbing work, there is zero chance you can get them out there at the same time.

They send the worst contractors. Contractor come out and do very little and leave, without letting the owner knows anything. When things are not fix you have to call AHS and then it takes week before they resend the same contractor out and it repeat. It has cause me nothing but headache. I end up calling another contractors to do the job correctly. AHS is only good if you need some to come out and do very minor things (i.e. change showerhead).
Try to cancel AHS, nowhere on their website allow you to do it. If you call in they will pass you around from one department to next. Each phone pass takes about 30 minutes to 1 hours to talk to someone. Then they transfer to next department. This goes on for hours. Try again next day same thing. At this point I contact my credit card and cancel the card. BTW AHS tell you that they will charge a cancellation fee. It’s in their contract. Worst company to do business with. I will never use these guy again in my life. DO NOT USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD! You will regret it! I did.

Nothing is covered under the warranty. They will lie to you about what is covered for you to pay the fee for someone to come out then they deny all requests. You can never talk to anyone when you have a problem. Someone waited on the line and didn't speak just so I would hang up first after I asked to speak to a manager. Please do not use this warranty company. Worst experience I have ever had with a business. I could go into all the issues but too many to count.

If I could, I'll give them a zero. My air conditioner doesn't work for 6 weeks. I called many time to report this issue. Finally, on July 10, I filed the claim. The first contractor came and check it. He told me he will be back. However, after one week, no one come. He is just disappeared. I contacted the AHS for many time. Finally, another person from the Service Express check our unit. I was told AHS denied the claim since there is pest urine in the unit. I talked with the contractor. He admitted that he checked our unused unit, instead of the broken one. So, he resubmitted it. However, the AHS still refuse to cover it. They still told me they will deny it because of animal urinate. (There is no animal urine at all).
I have spoken with this company many times. Each time I wait for 1-2 hours. Of them, four agents said they would call me next day, but never call me back. Thinking about no air conditioner in such hot weather. Nowhere to go because of coronavirus. I developed heat illness three weeks ago. My cat has been lying there, with fur falling off everywhere. My husband and kids stay at home, headache. I am ready to take them to the court.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I had their service for 3 years. Contract expired and they continued charging my bank account as there is no way to cancel payment or contract on their website. Waited on hold multiple times over an hour and got hung up on after being told they couldn’t help. I’m not sure what to do at this point other than dispute the bank drafts...

The refrigerator wasn't cooling and AZ Appliance Repair was sent out by Home Shield. The tech did a good job and he finished the repair in one day. But the contractor we had for our shower claim was horrible. The tech came a couple of days after I placed the ticket and he took a look at the shower. He said that his truck had a problem and he doesn't have any inventory. He said that he would come back. He needed to place an order for the part and he went away. After 10 days, he came back and he didn't even know what part it was. He said he didn't have the part and that he had to go get it so he left again.
He came back again and then he claimed that he installed the showerhead. But when I went to check it out before he left, the way he installed it was completely opposite of the other shower handle. I pointed it out to him and he said the original builder put it wrong and that the way he put it was correct. But I told him all of my bathrooms have the same mechanism so he opened the other one and tried to figure out how that works. He fixed it but it's too loose. All the other showerheads turn with proper friction. I don't think he has done a good job at it. Home Shield should ban that company.

The contractors that came out for our recent claim did great. We pretty much had pinpointed what was going on and it just needed the thermostat to be replaced 'cause the thermostat was bad. Everything else was working fine. He checked out everything, made sure it was all running well. He replaced the thermostat and everything went well. He had the part with him because I called them and talked to the girl in the office before he came out.
AHS is a little difficult sometimes. But I'm sure they get swamped just like everybody else, especially with air conditioning when it's hot. Their response to this call was absolutely fine. We got everything done in a reasonable amount of time. We waited for two days. This particular call, everything went really well. But previously, I've had some issues. The summer before, I had an issue with the air conditioning system. It took three different calls for them to figure out what was going on. I had to wait for a part to be rebuilt. I don't know what they were doing. But it took almost the whole month of August. It was September before I got my air conditioning fixed. So it was a very long period of time in there. If they had just authorized some of the parts being replaced, it would have been great.

My freezer wasn’t cooling and Home Shield sent out a contractor. The guy who came out gave a diagnosis and said it was not repairable. We got a second opinion from Zen and the tech realized that there might be a leak and something was wrong. He said the job was gonna take two hours to repair, so he rescheduled another visit. He came back and was able to fix it within two hours. It was a really good experience. The tech from Zen was very knowledgeable and he knew his job. He was transparent and I would definitely recommend him. Home Shield needs more service people like that.
The claims process with Home Shield to get something fixed is too much work for what I pay for the service. I have to call them, figure out why the claim was denied originally, and then have to potentially pay another $75 for the second opinion if the guy was gonna deem it unrepairable. I understand Home Shield is taking the repair person's words on what needs to be fixed but it defeats the purpose of me having the warranty. It drives me nuts.
I have Home Shield on another property and I had a claim that I never even got a second opinion on. I had to call back and ask why did I have to pay out of pocket fees. If the repair is to change out the pressure valve and the plumber deems that he gotta switch out the switch valve and the turnout valve as well, isn't that part of the warranty? The plumber was saying that it was damaged so wouldn't all that fall under the same warranty, if it needs to be all fixed? But instead, they wanted to charge me $400 to do a job that they were already doing and the valve doesn't even need to be changed out. I've had other claims where I had to pay because I needed to get it to code and I understand that aspect of it. But what's upsetting to me is that to get it to code, the tech used some of the parts that I still had. They're taking advantage of the people.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

In my dining room, I have a switch that was a dimmer for our light that's in the ceiling. I had the light on and at one point, it made this popping sound then it became really bright. I turned it off right away and I assumed there was an electrical problem or the switch. I spoke to somebody and explained about the claim. I was supposed to hear within 24 hours to set something up. Then the guy from GJC Electric LLC came right away and changed it. He was fine, particularly in these days. I'm older and considered a risk for COVID. He was quite good about coming around back, wearing a mask, and telling me what he touched if I wanted to wipe it down. He was really nice and I actually liked him. We were with another home warranty before and we were not very happy with the service we were getting there. So, when our expiration date had come up, we changed over to American Home Shield. We signed up in June and our coverage started very early July. We had a pretty basic claim and it was easy enough to make. We have two AC units and the upstairs unit went out and died on us. We couldn't get it to start cycling so we called American Home Shield and they assigned somebody.
We contacted TC and the guy came out about two days later which for this time of the year we were happy with. We told him about our problems. He went back to the back and changed out a spark plug that didn't work. He waited around to make sure that it was working and it cooled down, and it did. We were happy with who American Home Shield sent out to help us so we were satisfied. We were happy with his professionalism and with the service that he provided. We were also happy with the coverage that we had and we have not had any problems since.

We just ended the contract about a year and we had American Home Shield in the past as well. The claims are pretty easy especially online but we did have some difficulty in getting claims filled. We had one that was never filled. It's been open for 11 months and we haven't had a freezer working for 11 months. We are still waiting. There were a lot of issues but I think it had to do with a contractor that American Home Shield had gotten to do the work. We kept calling and calling and no one could ever help. Every time I'd call, they'd have to put me on hold while they'd read through the pages of notes that different people made on it. That was really frustrating. When I call to talk to someone about a claim which I was doing a lot on that one that kept going on and on, I would be on the phone for at least an hour before I get someone talking. The wait times on calls are very long.
The other claims have worked out pretty well and most of the contractors have been good. American Home Shield has done good work and all the payments have worked out well. They did a good job when they found a couple of appliances that couldn't be fixed and they've been able to replace them. That part of it's gone well. The group that does the buying and coordinates that seems to really go well and we're pleased with that.
We have one open claim now and we have been contacted. It's a couple of weeks old now and I'm not sure what's gonna happen with that. I have to plan my day to call and wait for an hour. For the other claims, we got notified real fast. The people call us within a day and they come out. Recently, our air conditioning system wasn't working so Dawson Services came out and figured out what the problem was. They didn't have the part and they went and got the part. They came and put it back in and it started working. The claim went very well.

A dryer was not working. I submitted a claim with AHS on their online form and their website was all right. But it wouldn't give me a contractor right away if I didn't apply for a contractor. I finally had to call in and speak with a manager to get Lowe's involved. He was trying to put me on to another contractor and that contractor wasn't available for four days. He was able to help me though and he was very nice and helpful. But it took an act of Congress to actually get me help. Also, the hold times at American Home Shield were completely unreasonable. I had to wait in excess of an hour and a half to speak to someone. That happened every time I called them and I don't know if I'm going to renew my contract because I can't ever get to speak to anyone and an hour and a half hold time is just unreal. Other than that, they ultimately sent me a payout check since they couldn't fix the item.

American Home Shield has quite excessive wait times. I waited an hour yesterday to get through on the phone. It had been that way all week and I just didn't stay on the line the other times. But so far, they're not bad. The online option of filing a claim was really easy but the only reason why I called this time was that we thought that the dishwasher was harmed in the last time it got fixed so it went back out. But beyond that, we wouldn't have called. The guy from Unique Appliance Repair was very nice. He said there was nothing that caused the issue with the dishwasher to happen aside for something that was blocking it. The dishwasher is empty right now. We're running it to see if the soap comes out, and then we'll see if that is the problem. He was very good and nice. He had a mask on and kept his distance.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The first company that American Home Shield sent out was very incompetent. The guy didn't know what he was doing and he had no tools on him. So I submitted for a second evaluation and had Air Squad come out and do an evaluation. They said that it was corrosion and the unit definitely needed to be changed. So the technician scheduled me out right away. Air Squad is great. They did another ticket for me a few months prior and I was really satisfied with their plumber.
Home Shield has made mistakes left and right in doing my ticket. We are so unhappy with them. It takes hours to connect with someone, and that's not only the problem. I wanted Air Squad to come out ‘cause I had such a great experience with them. I had to call Home Shield about nine times because one of the representatives said that in order for us to get Air Squad I needed to submit it as a recall. But this other company said that it shouldn't be a recall because our upstairs bathroom was fine so this should be a whole new ticket. I even told the lady that it had nothing to do with my upstairs bathroom but she said that this was to ensure to get Air Squad out here. Then it just turned into a big fiasco. They weren't approving the work order and they wanted me to pay another $75 to do a whole new complete order.
It took several representatives and several weeks. This was what delayed Air Squad in coming and doing the repairs. Finally, a manager called me after about three weeks of complaining, getting hung up on, and talking to multiple different people with a heavy thick accent. She said that it was a one-time courtesy. But the courtesy should be on their end and it got my blood pressure high. I and my husband don't wanna even deal with them.
American Home Shield just messed everything up. Everything is $75 which is fine, but they don't check the contract. For instance, another pitfall, I submitted for my pool and I needed a pool tech to come out because one of the pipes to my solar panel for the pool was leaking. I paid 75 bucks and the pool guy came out. But then he said that it was not even covered under home warranty. He also checked the pool heaters and he said that the filters were not covered. It was a waste of 75 bucks for the pool people to come out. If I'm telling AHS the issue, they should check my contract and tell me right off that bat if this not be covered under home warranty. They're not only wasting my time, but they're also wasting my money. They should also be competent enough to know how to process orders and recall and know the difference between a new order, a recall, and a second opinion.

I had another home warranty before and I was getting the runaround from them. They didn't cover disposals and stand-alone ice makers. But with AHS, I'm paying the exact same amount of money per month but they cover more items. So the first time we called American Home Shield for the disposal, I was wary. We had a leak under the sink. The technician came and tightened it. We could see that the leak was coming from the garbage disposal so the technician replaced it. Within two weeks, it was leaking again. So either the garbage disposal wasn't fixed correctly or that it wasn't the source of the leak.
When I called America Home Shield back to say that my sink was still leaking, they said that I told them that it was the garbage disposal so they fixed the garbage disposal. They were not gonna do anything else. So we are still having issues with this claim. But when my stand-alone ice maker was leaking and it had stopped making ice, we had an Amtec technician who replaced a part that he already had on his truck with him.

I called the number that you call to ask somebody to come out and then someone called me back and said that someone would be calling to set up a time and a date. After 2 days, the guy from Home Choice Services came in and he unblocked it. Before he left, he tested it to make sure that it was unblocked.
I also thought I had a problem with my water running out of my tub. When I told him about it, it was almost like he didn't realize that that was part of what I wanted also 'cause I told the person when I called that I was having trouble with the water going out of my bathtub as well. But he took the little cap off the tub and there was hair stuck in between. It just needed to be cleared out periodically, so that wasn't a big problem. I had a problem was with the refrigerator so the contractor came out and they discovered that the fan was gone in the back. They ordered the fan. I told the tech that the latch for the automatic icemaker in the refrigerator door was broken and it needed a replacement. He told me he was not here to fix that and that he was only here to fix the problem underneath. But he was here to fix my refrigerator. We got two broken parts so what was the problem? So they were only there to fix one thing and that was the fan. The guy had to come back and then he said it was gonna take a couple months for them to order the part. They ordered the part and when the kid came out to put the part in, he busted a bunch of the little clips off that hold the whole face into the door and just left them on the floor and left.
Everything works but we weren't overly excited about the way it was done. It was like, “I'm in a hurry to get this in, get it done, and then I'm out of here. And oh, by the way, I'm only here to fix one thing, not multiple things with the same appliance at the same time.” If you’re here to fix my refrigerator, then fix the whole thing, not just parts of it, because it costs me $125 every time I call for you to come out and fix it. They just wanted to get more money out of me.
We've had another incident where they came out because when our microwave wouldn't turn on and off. It kept flipping back and forth. The fan arbitrarily comes on by itself. I don't wanna spend another $125 to have somebody come out and give it a temporary fix and then walk away. By the time I get done paying for that, I could have bought a new microwave. So I’m not calling them again. The problem is getting the right people to come out and fix it right the first time, instead of hitting me for $125 every time we have to put a request in to get something fixed. That gets expensive on top of what we’re already paying American Home Shield.
When the dishwasher went out, the kids came out and they looked at it. They determined what the problem was and said that they couldn't fix it and they were gonna send me a new one. The next day, the kid came up with a brand new one. He pulled the old one out, put the new one in and disposed of it. All was good to go. It was a good experience and it was worth the $125 for the call.

The circuit breaker for the AC was melted, so the tech had to replace that switch. He had the part in his van. He was able to go to his van, come back, put it in and be done with it. He wore his mask and we stayed six feet away from each other. Everything was outside, so he didn't have to come in.
The latest two claims I've had with American Home Shield were really great. I had a claim for a dishwasher. Mine was broken. I was experiencing issues with my garbage disposal. Then it completely stopped working. I had tried to use the reset button underneath, but that wasn't working either. So then, when I did the claim with AHS, someone came and he turned whatever key. But then he noticed that there was a blade broken, and he replaced the disposal.
Overall, the process was really simple. Everything went well. I appreciated that the technician who came was very responsible. He was attentive to my needs, but also explained to me what was happening throughout. He was also very cognizant of health concerns, and so he wore a mask and shoe covers. He was very helpful in the situation. AHS was very attentive throughout the whole process. So I got a text, a call, an email, just saying, “Your request has been submitted,” or, “Here is the company, feel free to reach out if you haven't heard in this amount of time.” I liked the constant communication and the timeliness of it all.
AHS is simple enough that you can do the request and you pay the $100 service fee, but if anything is wrong, that can't be fixed, it covers the replacement. I like that. It was frustrating once when I had an issue with the garbage disposal before and it was just I needed to press the button underneath. I paid $100 for someone to tell me to press the reset button. If that could be fixed, that would be ideal. But overall, the experience with AHS has been okay.

The AC wasn't cooling and wasn't blowing any air through the vent. I went to American Home Shield’s website and filed a claim. I filed it on a Saturday and Kenneth Buggay Mechanical came out on Monday. The technician was great and very nice and knowledgeable. We really liked having him. He had to replace a relay switch. But it still wasn't cooling, so the next day, I had to file an addendum to our claim stating that it was still not fixed. The same technician came out the next afternoon and he determined that it needed an evaporator. They had to order that but due to the Coronavirus, it was gonna take weeks and possibly months to get it. But the air conditioning guy called me and said he found a part in South Carolina. He can have it overnighted but we would have to pay for the overnight freight, which we gladly did.
The technician brought the part out and told us before he brought it out, that when they do the evaporator, they have to drain all of the Freon out of our system and that American Home Shield only pays for the first $10, which was extremely disappointing to me. I was not happy because this whole thing ended up costing us $530 out of our pockets, which is not something that we were expecting to do. We had to pay it because American Home Shield wasn't going to replace the unit. They didn't even offer to help us with it. Our unit is 23 years old and this year is the first year we've ever had any parts replaced in it. We let the contractor fix it and it's been working great ever since. They did a good job and I was happy with the vendor that came out to do this.

He was very detailed and he was friendly too.
With American Home Shield in general, they are okay. For the most part, I get the things that I need. I only have one issue and that was just recently. This had to do with my washing machine service that they did last Monday. When the guy came out to do the service, three days later, AHS charged me tax on to my bill, and I've never paid tax. I've been telling them that but they are refusing to dismiss the tax. The rep told me what they do is every now and then, they randomly choose the one to pay taxes. I told her that I was gonna take it up the chain, but I haven't had a chance yet. She said that she was overseas. I asked to speak to someone. She told me I had to call back and I didn't like that thing.

The contractors that came did a good job repairing the ice maker that was not working. They had to come a few times, but, ultimately, it was solved. AHS has improved over the years. Now, I can make my claims online, and I can see my history online. So it's a good, easy process.
Thanks for letting us know you were happy with your experience. We love to hear that our process is easy. Please let us know if you need us, we're here!

I used American Home Shield previously when I was in Georgia and I've had them here a couple of years now. The contractors get to me quickly and they answer their phones. RJ Service Solution came for the garage door and they did fine. Overall, American Home Shield's service is great, but trying to reach someone is a pain. Whenever I have to check on the status of a claim, their hold time is ridiculous. In the past two weeks, I have been on hold 10 hours trying to get through. For my dishwasher, it took an hour last Friday. I tried twice yesterday and finally gave up. I've tried five times and after two hours, I finally got through to someone today. It would be great if I could email someone directly or call a supervisor for issues that I've been having with my claim, but they say, “No, you can't do that.”

American Home Shield's website worked great. Somebody called and told us they got the order and that they would be sending someone out. Our pool pump stopped working and the contractor came out and replaced it. They were excellent. The guy was really nice. He assessed the issue and fixed it quickly. We were kind of amazed how quick it went. It's been a great experience with American Home Shield so far. They're very quick to fix the problem and the people that they use have been terrific service people.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I was a little unhappy about how long it took to get a new motor for the air conditioner. It took nine days to order it. But that wasn't United Air Temp's fault. They said they had to go through American Home Shield to get it. Then they sent the wrong one but the tech got the other one within a day. It was 14 days when we got air again. But the air guys were good. The tech was friendly, professional, and he knew what they were doing. The only problem I have is that Home Shield is a little hard to reach now with the COVID thing. I leave messages and nobody calls back. If I have a question for a customer service person, I want them to get them within a day or so or call me back. Don't leave me hanging out there. But Home Shield is good overall.

We had a stoppage somewhere in the line that we couldn't find ourselves. It was backing up our sink so we had issues with water standing in our sink. We did a claim for it online and the submission process was self-explanatory. It's pretty easy and there was a pretty fast response as well. The turnaround time was just a couple of days. We were given IGD Plumbing as our contractor. The tech did his thing, found the stoppage with his tools, and cleared it out. He didn't cause a mess and didn't cause any issues. We were happy about it. From our experience with this stoppage, American Home Shield was perfect. People should definitely have a home warranty. It's definitely worth the initial investment in case anything goes wrong with the home itself.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

Home Shield was referred by a family member. All I did was request for the service call since I joined Home Shield. We did everything online. That was very simple. The condensation from the machine leaves some water on the inside the machine, which gives this error message. And it shuts down the machine completely so we get no hot water. Usually, what we have to do is to unplug the machine for a couple of days. And then, once it dries out, you plug it back in and it works again. I have no hot water during that time.
USA Plumbing was wonderful. However, when the tech came in and tried to fix our water tank, he called the manufacturing company to try to fix it. He tried to give them all the information they needed to replace it. But even though there was an issue, the manufacturer said that it's a flaw in the machine therefore there was not much you can do about it. But it's manufacturer’s fault. The tech was very professional, informative and right on. Also, He always called before he headed out.

The first tech that came out for the washing machine made the problem worse. So I called back and got another more experienced tech. He was able to get it fixed. AHS did a good job. I've had issues with them in the past. But in recent months, it's gotten a lot better. They are now a lot more consistent and attentive. The only challenge I have is sometimes there's language barriers depending on who takes the call and where they're located from a geographic perspective. When I had to make a phone call, it took a lot longer because there were language barriers.

We moved in our house and we were having trouble with the AC actually starting and working. But we had been working a lot and we hadn't had a second to put in a claim with American Home Shield. When we finally had a few days where we could, we filed a claim, which was one of the easiest online things I've ever had to do. When AllTech got here, Matthew was very nice and very professional. He found our problem right away. We needed 3 ½ pounds of Freon put into the system because it didn’t have enough in there to get it to cool. He tech put it in there and it started working a couple of hours later. I got everything fixed within 48 hours of filing the claim. We’re probably gonna end up renewing our warranty after this year.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

We have used Home Shield several times for different things after we bought this house and moved into it. They had to replace a microwave here and put a coil in the air conditioner three years ago. Recently, our central air conditioning unit went out. I made the claim and then I got a text message from Home Shield that said they contacted H. D. or I can contact them. At that time, where I lived at, it was 105 degrees. It was on a Friday night. I told them we needed some help and to figure it out. I called the number that they gave me and talked with the service guy who was on call. He said, “Well, I can't come out tonight. I can come out first thing in the morning.”
I said I called Home Shield and got the number. He then said if he came out because it was an emergency, it would be a $90 call. I said I didn't care as long as I got my air conditioner on. He did. He came out and changed the thing, and I gave him $90. He was good. He was truthful, and he said, “I know exactly what the problem is,” and he was right. The AC needed a capacitor. He showed me how he put it in there and it’s still working.
I understand he couldn't come out late at night. It was something we can live through overnight, but the issue needed to be addressed as soon as possible because it was hotter than hell that time here, and he did. He was out there 8:30 in the morning, and he said it would take him five minutes and he was exactly right. Five minute and he was gone.

J&S All Tech came when our air conditioning unit went out and the service was great. One day, it was blowing cool then it got a little warmer and then it started to blow hot air. I thought it was an easy fix, but when the tech came initially, I wasn't there. My boyfriend was there, so he explained to my boyfriend that the compressor was out. He also had to get a part to get the unit going and he had to wait till the piece came in.
The only thing that I didn't appreciate about it is the length of time that we had to wait to get someone out there and for him to get the piece. They sent the piece to a location that he wasn't able to go to. Even though the piece came in five days ago, I still had to wait until they transferred it to somewhere else. We were without AC for about two and a half weeks in summer and it was horrible. On a different note, I've had American Home Shield for a while. I got it on this property about a year or so and I used to have it years ago on my rental properties too.

I noticed a lot of water around the base of my HVAC unit. I wasn't sure what it was. I contacted Home Shield and then they had the Buggay Company who they contracted out for me. I put that claim on Saturday and they sent me a text on Sunday and said that they would be out on Monday morning between 9:00 and noon. I said that would be fine, and the contractor gave me some instructions on what to do in the meantime, in case the refrigerant was frozen up. That was good. At least the tech gave me a heads up on the mechanics behind it so that when they got here, they didn't lose any time. And at 10:30, he said, "Hey, our guy's on the way."
The guy was here by 10:45. Whoever it was walked right in and said, "Well, here's the problem." And he took this thing off, fixed it, put it all back together, and done deal. He then walked outside and he said, "I'm here. Let me check out the outside unit on this," and he checked to make sure that it had enough coolant. And he said, "You're all set. You're good to go." He was in and out of here in 15 minutes and the AC has been working fine since.
I have used Home Shield on five separate occasions. Everybody that they contracted out did what I expected, and that's why I continue to keep Home Shield. It's a very simple process. Their website to set up an appointment is very user-friendly. For a guy like me, I appreciate that. You go in, you put your information in, and they let you know that you will have someone contact you. Every time I've used them, I've had somebody contact me right away. That speaks a lot.
I've talked to several people about having a warranty. And of course, they wanna sit down and calculate this out. I said, "Look, guys, you know, for 650 bucks a year, you got peace of mind, you really do. You can take anything that's gonna break down in your home. You pay that deductible or copay, whatever it is, 100 bucks." I said the agreement is good and Home Shield honors it. If they can't fix it, they gotta replace it. Granted, it's not gonna be something of comparable value, but you have that peace of mind. I just ended it as they can do what they want, but maybe one day, I would say, "I told you so." I'm a very satisfied customer.

The latches had broken off our windows and they don't go up and down anymore. American Home Shield told me that they do not cover windows. So, instead of having their contractor Edelen Door and Window come, we decided to go to an independent contractor and pay for the work ourselves. We also had a washer claim and I wasn't satisfied with that either. Home Shield sent a contractor out and put a unit in that sounded just as bad as the one I had. So, I called them saying that while washers make noise, they aren't supposed to sound like a steam engine. I hope Home Shield does good by me with my air conditioners inside the house that are 17 years old.

I had a claim with American Home Shield on a plumbing issue. They sent Redman Down South Enterprise and everything went great. They had masks on when they came in. They asked a question, “Was anybody here?” They kinda just stayed away from us. They asked us if we could stay in another room, which we did. The problem was in my utility room, so we stayed away. The plumbing was repaired a long time ago. But now, I'm waiting for them to do the drywall work. I called American Home Shield, they had to cut a hole in the wall to make the repair, and that was done promptly and done well. It’s not leaking. I’m just waiting for American Home Shield to get me a contractor out to close in the hole.
As far as the timeframe, I’m very satisfied. It didn't take long. I called the claim in on a Monday morning. Redman called and scheduled, and came out that next day. So, it was prompt. American Home Shield has pretty good service. I’ve been with them for about seven years now, and it's been very beneficial. You never know when something's gonna break down. It's nice to have a warranty just in case that happens because it's kinda hard to come out of your pocket with hundreds of thousands of dollars for certain repairs. So, it’s great to have it.
When I call AHS to submit a claim, it's early morning. Sometimes, it's before 8 o'clock. I know somebody's working around the clock, but if there's no one there to answer the phone, then you just leave your information. Then, they send a message that they entered the claim in for you, and then they send you a text letting you know that they received the claim and that the technician should be calling you within 24 to 48 hours. They're very professional.

The air conditioner wasn't coming on and it wasn't running. It wasn't doing anything, nothing at all, and it affected us very much. I called American Home Shield and the representative told me they were backed up on stuff. She said was sending them over and that somebody would be in touch with me from the company. One person said it was gonna be almost a week before someone could get out here, and then C & C said they could be out here in three days. We weren't able to do anything during those three days and we had to go to a hotel room and stay for two nights.
I ended up having to buy a window unit and two floor fans just to be able to keep some sort of air circulating in here. The kids had to go stay at my mom's house. Plus, I have animals and we had to board my two dogs and my two cats. I was left in my room with an air conditioning unit and two floor fans going. I contacted American Home Shield about doing the claim because they told me that if I had to go buy the window unit or the floor fans, there was something they could do. I understand there's not a full reimbursement on it, but there was something. When I contacted the representative about that, she said she would send me an email. I never received an email, so I didn't know how to go about trying to get the reimbursement.
Still, I would recommend American Home Shield. The only issue I had was it took three days before anybody was able to even contact me to tell me that they could come out. Apart from that, the technician from C & C Appliance Repair did great. He called me, said he was on his way and he was here within that 20-minute time frame. He was able to fix the air conditioner within an hour of being here as well and we haven't had any problems with it so far.

I called American Home Shield and I told the rep what my needs were. It was for replacing a pressure regulator valve and the rep said it was covered. The plumber came out and looked at what the problem was. He submitted the work order for it but he did not fix it that day. The next call that I got was from AHS saying that I would have to pay him $580 to do the job. But I got somebody a little cheaper than that to do the job. Plus, I have already given AHS $100.
I called and asked the plumber how much they charge to come out and look at a job. He said that they don’t charge for that. So, I had submitted to ask for my $100 but I haven't had any follow-ups from American Home Shield. I'm gonna be shopping for another coverage company. I told my two daughters that are also homeowners to hold off on buying from AHS because that did not go right. You should read your contract even before you hear someone from the company say that something’s covered.

I have my house for 15 years with American Home Shield and it's been great every time. They've been very responsive and pretty much handled every situation I've come across. Recently we had a microwave issue and they sent PDX Appliance Repairs. They were on time and wore safety precautions. They looked at the microwave, tried to order the board, and couldn't. Then they returned the call and explained to me what they could and couldn't do. I was issued a credit towards a replacement of the microwave, which I assumed I had to get and have installed or install myself in order to have it covered again, which I currently have not done.

I had a plumbing claim and the plumbers Home Shield sent out never did anything because they said it was a clog on top of the house and they weren't licensed to go there. It was the first time I called them out here and they couldn't do it. Someone else has to come in and I got somebody to do that. Another contractor came out for my refrigerator and stove. My stove has been off because it blew up on us and the tech got it going but it popped again. He said he was calling his supervisor and his supervisor is supposed to come out. The refrigerator is waiting on a fan and food is going bad. And no one has got back in touch with me for the food disposal in the dishwasher. They said an electrician is supposed to come for that. I let Home Shield know but I haven't seen an electrician so my food disposal is still not working.
