    I submitted the claim on the app through my phone in less than three minutes. But I spoke to a Home Shield representative to see if I could get it sooner because it happened on a Friday and I didn't wanna have to wait over the weekend until Monday to get my AC fixed. It was one part that something was wrong with it. Element all had masks, booties and gloves on. Also, they were early. It only took about 30 minutes for them to figure out what the issue was and fix it. It was the first claim I ever had. It was facilitated pretty quickly and I was happy. Home Shield did everything that they said that they would do on the website, from start to finish. So, they kept their promise on what the services they would provide to me.

    The house was 105 degrees. We called American Home Shield to file a claim on the air conditioner. The contractors came out right away. They actually came out right away four times. The first time they did, they thought the compressor was out and then they said, “Okay, the compressor is out.” But American Home Shield would not let them order a compressor until an electrician came out. It took a month for an electrician to come out. He said everything was fine. Now, another electrician had to come out. He said, “Oh, yeah, I did try it. Nope. it's out. We’ve got to order a compressor.”

    That was two weeks of 105-degree temperature. They ordered a compressor. It'll be in in three days. Four days later, they said the compressor’s in and they came out, put the compressor in but it did not work. So, they ordered another one. Once it came in, the Comfort people came out right away. They put it in and it did not work. They went to a different company to order another compressor, at which point I got involved and I said, “You know what, you need to test this stuff before you come out. It shouldn't take a week in between each time that you guys do it.” I also said “It's hot. I’m old.” They assured me that they would check it. With the third compressor, they came in, they put it in and it worked. But apparently, they didn't put the fan back in right because two days later, the whole unit outside was shaking.

    We called Home Shield back and they sent the same people back out. They took the fan out, replaced it and that was working good. The first two weeks were pretty bad. We are dissatisfied with American Home Shield because that’s our second experience with them and the experience before that took three months and it was for our sewer line. We had to go to our daughter's which is five miles away just to use the bathroom because my whole system was shut down. We don't think American Home Shield uses the best people other than Comfort. They're very good. There were two different plumbers that American Home Shield has used over the four years we've been with them, and neither one of those were very good.

    I would like American Home Shield to first respond a little faster because once we call them, it takes a week for somebody to come out. Once we call them, then they contact somebody to come out. But those people don't come out for a week. Then we have to fight because they can't just check something. They gotta check it six times. We don't think our money for Home Shield is very well spent.

    I had Nationwide and they were ridiculous. The service was extremely poor. I picked American Home Shield up because when I called, I spoke to a person. I rate them highly. I haven't had any issues. There was no nastiness or a lapse in time. Recently, I called in a claim, spoke with someone and they asked what was the issue. The guy was very professional. I told them it was my ice maker. They said someone would call me and Lafayette did. The guy came out within the same week and found out that the piece was missing for the ice maker. He ordered the part, came back out and tried to hook it up. For some reason, the modem is totally gone. It wouldn't even work with the new modem that he had. He said that he would call American Home Shield because a new refrigerator is needed but I haven't heard from them since. But he was on time and truly professional. His mannerism was awesome.

    Some of the options on the American Home Shield website are very vague and it makes it somewhat difficult when asking for service. When the contractor comes out, they won't provide the service because what I may be asking for is not what American Home Shield has sent the guy out for. There should be an option for details on specific issues there. Other than that, Cabot Mechanical did a good job when there was a necessary repair for a heating issue that we had.

    American Home Shield sent A.R.T. Heating & Air Conditioning for the AC. Terry came right out and did an awesome job. I gave him a 5 on the stars. Not only did he fix it super quickly, but he also told me what it was. He wore a mask and he was trying to distance. He was in and out within 20 minutes-ish. That's why I like A.R.T. Terry came out before.

    As far as American Home Shield, I'm pretty good with it. I kind of got surprised when I realized that I didn't know that my refrigerator was covered, but other than that, it's perfectly fine. We got this home through Military War Support Foundation, and they purchased a whole year in advance services from American Home Shield. So we're like, “Yeah, yeah, we’ll just keep it.”

    Each time I've called Home Shield, they've been on the money. Recently, the toilet was leaking. I called them and they said they would get back with me. Then it was a day or two that they did.     The compressor went out on my AC and the guy who came out was really cool. He fixed it and he checked everything inside. He was very efficient. He told me to hose it down and he gave me information that I didn’t know that we needed to do to keep our AC running. He also wore mask and he stayed away from me. It was great. So far, I like AHS way better than my last home warranty. I haven't had any issues with any claims with this one. Submitting the claim was easy. I just did it online and the tech called and came the next day. So that was pretty cool. They are easy to manage and take care of.

    A couple of years ago, a terrible plumber came to our previous house as AHS's contractor. Recently, my power tripped a couple of times and I had an AC issue.     I had Home Shield take care of the refrigerator and they took care of it the same day. The guy called and I told him what was going on, so he was already came prepared with the materials that he needed to fix it. When the pump in the washing machine was leaking, United Services of Arizona came out and they did so well. They happened to have the part so I didn't have to wait. The gentleman knew exactly how to find everything as well. He diagnosed the problem and took care of it. He was already masked and gloved too.

    All in all, Home Shield has done an amazing job. I get online, do the details of what's going on and they answer me right away and put me in contact with the repair person. The repair person then calls me and lets me know they're around the corner. Home Shield's employees are an asset to the company ‘cause that's what makes their reputation for all of us here. In the manner that they come in, they're knowledgeable, professional, and they communicate quite well with us. I also had a home repair contract with Sears. When comparing the two, I tell everybody to check out Home Shield and I got two people to join them.

    I bought this house and there were things that went out like my water heater. I've been here for over three years and finally, I saw American Home Shield on TV one day. I asked some relatives as to how are they, and they said they're okay. I looked into their web and went for their main package that includes everything in the house that home insurance didn't include. I pay them 50, 60 bucks, but it's well worth it. Last month, Turner Electrical and Lighting came out. The guy was polite. He did a thorough outlet to outlet to outlet and found the problem. He knew what he was doing as far as being efficient. He was great. I'm waiting for another HVAC company to call 'cause my HVAC went out the other day and it's hot in Sacramento.

    The guy that came was really good and got the issue fixed. He worked around my schedule and was in and out in a decent time. He wore a mask and made sure that it was okay that he came in.     The contractor came and fixed my air conditioner. They were in and out within 20 minutes. They seemed like they got the job done. They gave me some advice as to how to maintain my air conditioner. Initially, when I was submitting the claim, I was very frustrated. With everything that's going on, phone lines are tied up, but I like to be specific about what it is I need. Sometimes going online and checking a box does not describe what it is that's wrong. I waited on the phone for almost an hour, if not more, for a live representative. When I got a live representative, I got somebody who was not in America and didn't understand what I was saying. I asked to speak to someone else and was placed on hold. It was disconnected. Then I spoke with someone else who, again, was not in the States who didn't understand what I was saying. I let her process the claim anyway only to go online to find out that they had listed it as something was wrong with my pipes as if this was plumbing.

    I called the company to see if there was somebody who dealt with air conditioners. They said no, they were a plumbing company. I went online and canceled the claim, and I had to call back again. That part is frustrating, getting the proper people to come and having to spend three hours just making sure the right people are coming to my house because I gotta pay the $75. It’s is bothersome. I don't want to speak to somebody who doesn't understand what I'm talking about. I don't wanna speak to somebody in another country because their lingo is different from my lingo based on this claim.

    That in itself is frustrating, being on the phone for over an hour, having to call back, having to cancel the claim, having to restart the claim. Do I wanna spend an hour on home again? No. Do I want to speak to somebody in another country? No. But am I paying for the the warranty service? Yes. Will I have to pay for the claim? Yes. So I am dishing money out, but I don't feel confident enough based on that in itself. For certain things, yes, you can check a box and then be so generic and specific, but outside of that, what am I supposed to say to somebody who doesn't understand me? We all have to make adjustments and changes for COVID-19 but at the same time, it's not like American Home Shield is decreasing what I have to pay them as far as making sure my house is being serviced. I don't feel like the customer service should be decreased.

    Up until COVID, I never really called American Home Shield for anything because my house is fairly new. But since COVID and the kids being home and more usage being used on certain items, of course, after a while a wear and tear happens and something might get broken. The few times that I've had to call in for service, people don't get back to you. They say somebody will reach out to you in 24 hours. For instance, with the last repair for the AC, I called the company that was assigned to do the work and they said, “Oh, we're processing the claims. We'll call you by the end of today.” No one ever called but then somebody showed up at my door three, four days later.

    Had no one been home, what would it have looked like? It's only because of COVID that somebody was home. I felt a little disrespected too when the provider came out. He came with a mask, but he didn't have a mask on. There is a mandate in Harris County that you gotta wear a mask. When I'm going into a store to be serviced, I have to wear a mask. When you’re coming into my house to service me, you should be wearing a mask. I had to let the guy know and say, “Please put on a mask because I have children, I have a husband, I have certain health concerns." My son has certain health concerns but I still needed my items fixed. But he did the job and was respectful of my wishes.

    A spring broke on our garage door and it wouldn't go up and down. Flash Garage Door Service did well on it and everything went fine. The guy had the replacement spring in his truck and repaired it in a couple of hours. I’ve been keeping American Home Shield going for three years now and it has been great.     For timeliness and professionalism, it was excellent with Coastal Pool Repair. I submitted the claim at night and the problem was fixed by the afternoon. It was super quick. The guy called me that one day that he was gonna be here and he finished it right away. He already had the equipment with him so he didn’t have to order anything. It's working properly other than a small leak. You can see the water stains on the outside of the pump. I did send the guy a couple of pictures the other day, and he hasn't responded.

    I have another property that's also with American Home Shield. I had an AC go out on me and I couldn't even make the request online. On the phone, I waited over an hour and never spoke with anybody so I ended up getting a private contractor. But I understand that I'm not the only one here needing service. AC’s here in South Texas run all day every day. I don't know if I can submit that claim but definitely, American Home Shield is a really good thing.

    A-1 Plumbing came out to fix our Whirlpool tub and they wore masks the whole time and emailed our paperwork to us. They fixed the leak, but now the tub won't drain very well. Also, the tension in the hot water knob is really tight and I'm afraid to use it because I feel like it might break. I called them and they said I needed to go and file another claim. I've tried to wait on hold a couple of times, but AHS has been so busy. By the time I get a call back, I'd gotten back to school and by the time they call me back, I'm busy again and can't answer. Other than that, we love AHS. We're buying a new house and we're gonna continue the service on our new house.

    There is an extractor in my bathroom that stopped working. American Home Shield handled the claim very well. I was waiting for the opportunity to try the service because of reviews I make online.     The furnace was overflowing. I called and talked to an AHS rep on the telephone and she was very professional. The guys from Piedmont Mechanical Contractors came out and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. One guy put a condenser in there and the other one came out and flushed the hose out, the line all from the furnace to the outside. It’s been performing great since they fixed it. We feel that cool air and no more leaks in my furnace. AHS does a good job and they’re reliable. It might take 24 hours for them to come out but they’re good.

    Plumbers Inc was wonderful. I had a water heater that was continuously going out and not functioning properly. I also had a backed up faucet that I got very little water from. Plumbers Inc fixed both of them. The technician, Dan, looked at the problem and determined what needed to be fixed. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. He explained things to us. He repaired everything in one day. He was excellent and we were very pleased with him. American Home Shield has an immediate response time. I’ve only had two repairs at that time that I've had them and both times, they've sent out excellent technicians. and their reps that have helped set up appointments are very courteous and expeditious in handling my request.

    The first company that AHS sent was terrible. It was a nightmare. I had an appointment on a Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00. I was waiting at my rental property 'cause the tenant was at work. The guy did not show up till after 5:00 and he did not call me. I waited over there all day. This guy from AAA told me that there was nothing wrong with it. I told him there is, as it's almost 90 degrees in there. He told me to clean the air handler. He also told me what kind of cleaner to get. I went and got that, did that, and it still didn't work. He came back out a couple of days later and said he couldn't fix something that was not broken. He also said that this was being reported at American Home Shield that there was nothing wrong with the unit.

    I called American Home Shield and requested a second opinion with A-US Air. The guy was on time and changed out a capacitor. Probably, it was a $10 part to sort that out. He stayed in touch with me. He was headed to another job and then he was headed to me. He showed up when he was supposed to, fixed the issue, and was very professional. That particular guy has been to my personal house before when he worked for another company. The unit is working great now.

    7 Cities was really professional. They came in, assumed what the issue was when they first came to my house and then what the tech assumed that the issue was is exactly what it was. He didn't have to do any maintenance, but he went ahead and checked my crawlspace. He checked everything to make sure that everything was good to go as far as my air conditioner, and he did a good job. It was very pleasant.     American Home Shield had better coverage. The claims submission with theem online is fine but calling it in sucks. I called in a previous matter and it took 10 calls to get something taken care of. It was also a plumbing issue and it was an emergency. I kept going back and forth between America and the Philippines, and nobody was taking any kind of accountability and nobody was helping me. Then I had to eventually escalate it to some management. It was a mess. But in this recent instance, it was fine because it wasn't an emergency. The plumber from Cal-Home Construction was cool. He was on time and he fixed the item quickly.

    It's very simple to submit claims. I just do it online. After submitting the claim, I called the Findlay Plumbing tech. I got the appointment the same time I called them. A drain line from the sink was stopped up. They found the problem and they fixed it. It was very satisfactory. We stayed at a distance and then anytime anyone came in, I always disinfected my doorknobs.

There was one out of pocket payment that we had to do and in our contract, there's no removal of the water heater. While everything was covered, we had to pay to have the old water heater removed. Our water heater was leaking. It was damaged, so Simply Plumbing had to replace it. We're very pleased with them overall. They were out within 24 hours and they did a very good job. They also worked overtime in order to make sure they were approved by the insurance.

    One of the issues we had was when there was a reoccurring problem with the water heater, we had to call in the claim versus submit it online. Otherwise, it charges another $100 deductible. If we can submit it online, everything is fine, but if you have to call it in for any reason, you're waiting more than an hour easily. For the last few things that I've had to call in, I have been on hold for longer than an hour. Simply Plumbing had to wait to get approval before they can do anything and the hold time was in excess of an hour as well.

    Appliance Care replaced the air damper to the refrigerator but after 24 hours, it wouldn't work. They serviced it twice because when the air damper didn't work, they got a control board put in. But it was still not working right. I called them back and then they said that the damper had a defect. So they ordered another one. Pamela called me and said the guy would come in and put it today between 1:00 and 5:00. I like Appliance Care. They've been very nice and they’re trying to fix it.

    American Home Shield didn't come through for me when my air conditioner broke down. I had to wait on the air conditioner coil and it was on backorder. It was very hot and humid. I had to be in heat for about four weeks. I was advised by the company that I could probably get a little help. So I called a couple of times about it. I had to wait for 30 and 50 minutes. I could deal with that, but I was not accommodated in any kinda way. I called the escalation team and asked them to give us a little money to help us to get a portable air conditioner and they refused. I've been with AHS for a long time and I'm very hurt about that. They did not want to reimburse me for the portable air. I suffered and I didn't think it was right.

    We contacted American Home Shield for an AC issue and they sent a work request to R Harris AC & Heating. The gentleman that was assigned came on time. He diagnosed the issue and he told me the required kind of service. He fixed the problem within an hour. He did a good job. I really am glad we have a business with them.

    We've been a long-time customer with American Home Shield. Sometimes, things just happen during weekends and it's difficult, especially when we have one with the air conditioning. With this kind of heat, it's very difficult to stay even an hour without air conditioning. Sometimes it happens on Saturday or Sunday, and Monday will be the appointment. So, it's gonna take at least three days. We have an autistic son. He cannot manage the situation without air conditioning. So, I wish Home Shield will consider some of the difficulty of some families and try to speed up the process as much as possible.

    I had an issue with the water heater. It's an old one, but it's still functioning. So, one time, there was a problem in that, and we asked American Home Shield for service. They sent the request, and a gentleman came to the home to fix it. He said, "There is a safety issue with this one. I cant fix it," but he said it needs to be replaced in the future. When I communicated with American Home Shield, they said they can't replace it as long as it is working. But in general, I recommend American Home Shield as an insurance company. They are good.

    I had two service calls in with American Home Shield. I have three air conditioning units at my home. The technician from Metro Air came out in a vehicle, came to the door with no mask on. I had to ask him, "Could you slide a mask on?" I went and put one on. He proceeded to go downstairs and looked at the two units, but he was insinuating that, "You called me out here for a problem you didn't have, because I only have one service call." I said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I called in two service calls."

    He got on the phone, called his office and he said, "This guy is saying he's got two service calls." Then the guy said, "Okay. So you did have two service calls, but it wasn't put together on..." Whatever the problem was that he didn't get two service orders, I really didn't think it was my issue. It was an add-on. When you have one service call, but if you have two issues, you just tell them. If it's related to the same thing, they look at them both.

    So he proceeded to look at one issue. There was water pouring out of my one unit. He came out and he said, "Water's flowing." Did nothing other than asked me if I had a roll of tape, taped up a piece of plastic pipe, and then he put a rag by where there could be possibly another leak. Then he went to the other unit that I supposedly didn't have a call on, but I did, and he attacked the unit almost as a consultant. He started telling me about there's not enough charge, there's not enough this and that, the copper tube needs this. So he went and wrote up some report. I thought it was gonna be covered, but it wasn't covered.

    I tore into American Home Shield. I said, "Send another outfit out here. I've already contacted my lawyer about Metro Air and who is responsible for sending this person out to my home." Now, the whole thing, it got rejected. It was not covered because the condenser that leaked, because there wasn't another air duct put in in 1998, the condenser started leaking. There was a kink in my pipe and the guy said. "Where did that come from? How's this thing been running since 1998? Did you squeeze it with your channel locks?"

    After all was said and done, I said, "Hey, go ahead and write it up. Whatever's gonna be, it's gonna be. Here, I wanna give you something. Thanks for your service." I lay a $20 bill on his seat. The guy said, "Did some money fly on my wall pocket or something?" I said, "No, dude. I wanna give you this 20 here for coming out." He said, "Hey man, I'm a man just like you. I put my pants on just like you. You can hand it to me." So I picked it up off the seat. I let him come around from the passenger seat. I handed him the $20 bill, he threw it on the ground. He didn't need my $20 bill. I just had to get him off my property. I asked for Piedmont the very first time because they were out twice prior to that for different issues and fixed them. AHS said, "No, we have a queue and whatever company pops up, that's who it is." I said, "Metro Air, okay, that's fine." Then, here we are.

    I called American Home Shield and I was really livid with them. I told them never, in my life, have I ever been talked to like that, to repeatedly be called a liar. I'm a firm believer in having everything covered too. But then, with this air conditioning unit and finding out what it's gonna cost me, it's like, what exactly is covered? They said, "We'll have another vendor come out for a second opinion and if they find something wrong, you won't be charged a second time. If they do find the same thing wrong, then you'll be charged another service charge." I said, "Fine, send them out."

    I arranged my flight in from Las Vegas to meet them there, like I'm doing again. I fly out on the 29th, and the next day, American Home Shield, Piedmont's coming out again. And the same problem, three flights in from Las Vegas for a condenser. It's twofold. One, it's the shock value of finding out I'm paying $75 a pound for Freon and I need nine pounds of it. So my bill is, after my $125, is another $400 for a condenser that's bad. So we're replacing a condenser on a 1998 unit, it makes no sense.

    I called up American Home Shield on a Saturday and told them that we had an electrical outage and an issue. That call initially started off very poorly. They set me up with a company that wanted to come out on a Friday. They wanted me to wait a week for them to come out. I call back American Home Shield and told them I couldn't do that. I had grandkids that had come over and that wasn't gonna work for us.

    Initially, they kind of hesitated. I asked them how I should file a claim so I could get reimbursement and I would call an electrician out to get the thing fixed. The lady said she would see what she could do. She hung up and she called me back about 15 minutes later. She told me that they had a company that was more local. That was City First. They came out a little bit earlier than they said they were going to. Their guy was really pleasant, very helpful, and he didn't complain. The house was sort of a mess and kids were running around. It was also warm because the air conditioner had turned off. But he did what he had to do with a smile on his face. He was very gracious and we were very thankful.

    He also had his mask on. Initially, he asked if anybody had been sick in the home. I was also asked the same thing when they had called in. We told them everybody was fine. They asked if we could make sure that we had the ventilation and air and the windows open. It was not a problem. The gentleman seemed to always take a decent distance and he didn't walk right up. That was very good. He didn't shake hands when I went to shake his hands. My son-in-law went to shake his hand too and they just bumped elbows.

    Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was relatively easy but they wanna take the payment right away. I've had American Home Shield since 1997. I was on and off with the various homes that I had. I even had a couple of policies because a couple of them were rental units and the home warranty covered that as well. I've always looked at it as an extremely good value. I purchased this house for my daughter and the people included a one-year a different homeowner's policy and they covered the roof. That warranty covers a few other things that American Home Shield doesn't cover and their deductible is a little bit less. It is an $80 deductible while my American Home Shield is $100. But doing a comparison side-by-side and when you look at what it was, I'm pretty comfortable that I kept and went ahead and purchased American Home Shield as opposed to keeping the other home warranty.

    We used the other home warranty twice for plumbing issues. One was for a cracked toilet and one was for a plumbing issue under the kitchen sink. For both of those issues, the contractors had to return. In other words, they came out, took the deposit, took the payment, but the issue wasn't fixed. This has been probably a little over a year. They replaced the toilet the second time because they said it was a faulty toilet. But I think they just adjusted it wrong. This toilet runs a little bit more than it should after you flush it. It would try and back it down then adjust. I wasn't comfortable with the other home warranty as much as I was with American Home Shield. I have in the past had my fill of American Home Shield when it comes down to their limited supplier base. When we were in San Dimas, I had a policy there and I haven't had challenges with them out here.

    This is an insurance that you’d expect their contractors to come out when you have an issue. I realize I'm not their only customer and I don't expect the world to stop. But there's an issue when I call up on a Saturday to I say I have no lights in the house, I got a refrigerator full of food, and I got a house full of kids, and all of a sudden, the contractor's nearest appointment was Friday.

    I don't feel bad for myself but I do feel bad for an elderly person or even a younger person who is naive and isn’t gonna say, “Well, wait a second here. My food’s gonna spoil. I need to get this fixed. What do I do in the meantime?” What good is that insurance when I could call an electrician and pay 150 bucks more and get my issue fixed within the hour? That savings is great but that $100 deductible is only a portion of what I've paid for that contract. It's not just the $100 that I should be happy but on the same token, they should be able to provide contractors a lot quicker, which American Home Shield did.

    In the past, I had some challenges to where I wouldn’t speak too highly of them. I've had conversations of my fill, frustration-wise, but not on this contract that was purchased for this home. This was the second time we called for them and it seems to have worked out really well. Based on this experience and on what happened during this pandemic business, I'm very likely to recommend American Home Shield. Everything is fine with them.

    When I had a problem with the AC last year, it took the contractor a few times to come back, but it was resolved. Recently, we had the plumber come out but he couldn't find where the leak was. He said he was gonna have his manager come, but the manager hasn't responded back to us as yet. But the plumber was very polite and professional.     My wife's sister is a realtor up in Gainesville, Maryland and had used American Home Shield for a long time. She was very satisfied with them. We decided to go with them down here. It's relatively easy to file a claim online. We've had two air conditioning issues since we took up the service but with the exception of it taking several days, which isn't American Home Shield's problem, we've been completely satisfied. This last one, there were two of them that they ended up fixing - one was the capacitor on the outdoor unit and the other was the contactors. The contactor went bad or burned up. Those units are 11 years old, so I don't think it's unusual to have something go bad with it. We had no problems with the interior air handlers or anything. Since working with First Comfort, we've gone with them for maintenance. They do a check on the systems in the spring and then on the fall for heat.

    We called American Home Shield on a garage door issue, but it turned out it was a mechanical issue. The spring broke on the door, not a garage door opener, and American Home Shield doesn't cover that and I understand that.

    Bradley Electrical came in one day to fix the air conditioning. My wife was here and all they did was open the air conditioner, replace a part and they said that would work. I told my wife to tell them that they should go upstairs and check the blower and the rest of the unit because I thought the blower was bad. But they left and the air conditioning ran for about an hour and then it went down. So I called them again but there was no answer. Then I called the American Home Shield to reprogram the appointment. They assigned the same group again and the guy called me in the morning. I told him that they got over here yesterday and they tried to fix the air conditioning and they left but the air conditioner is not working. So he sent the people again over here the next day.

    My wife was here and she told them that I thought the issue was the blower. So they went upstairs and it was very hot. They checked it out and they said it was not the blower. They said it was a little pin over here. My wife said that they changed something over there upstairs and they changed something in the front over here again, and the air conditioning has been working since then.

    It's been very hard to get in touch with American Home Shield about a bill that they sent me for $100. But their contractors are very good and very nice people. They are very efficient and they're really committed to their job. I will recommend them. But they're running from one gap to another one sometimes. You'd have to wait a long time. They're so busy that they have to run from one end to the other. So sometimes they don't perceive things. They just change the part and say that the air conditioner is running and then leave. They didn't wait a few minutes. Also, somebody's gotta be home to tell them what to do.

    The initial issue was the air conditioner was out. My mom's situation needed to be handled expeditiously because of her heart. My sister also has a breathing problem. She's heavyset and she can't breathe good at night. So when I said expedited, and Home Shield made it expedited, it should have been handled within a week to two weeks max. They should have been more, “Hey, these people are up in age. There's sick people in the home.” They should act quicker.

    In getting somebody out there, there were three people I had to get through. The first company came out there two or three times and they said the unit was working. But then, they left and the house would get hot again. We call them back. “No, It was working when we left. We don't know what's wrong. You'll have to call somebody else."

    I had to get another company involved. When he came out, he was worried about, “Oh, it's going to be more than just this to do this. It's gonna cost you about 1,500 to 2,000 to have this unit replaced.” He was worried about what he would make. He was an independent contractor. And then he told me, “Oh, I’m gonna need somebody to help me get a unit in there. I need like eight guys.” I was done with him. So, I called Home Shield back, then had to wait and get another company. That was just a bunch of ** all the way through.

    It took me almost a month and a half to get an air conditioner put in there and I tried every day. I spent 20 hours on the phone with Home Shield. It was horrible! I know there was a payment due and I needed to call Home Shield and make a payment on that. I had taken my credit card off. I was pissed off. Home Shield would not call me back. I kept talking to people in Japan. I couldn't understand them. I put my claim in on the first of July. I had to go out and spend $700 on a portable air conditioner. But that still wasn't enough.

    I did not get anybody on the ball until I got Element Heating and Air. The contractor came out and they fixed it. They got their hands on it. They went to bat for me. We just got the air in last week. I was happy with the air company. I give them a high five because they're great. But I was dissatisfied with Home Shield. They took way too long to handle this claim. It was a bunch of running around.

    The motor in my pool seized up. NKY Electric and the tech was fantastic. He had to order the part because they're different sizes for different pools. I also took pictures of it and sent it to him. It took about a week for the part to come in and they replaced it. I also had another company come out for the air conditioner and they were absolutely fantastic as well. Getting service from American Home Shield is like going to a restaurant. It varies from day to day and it depends on who the waiter is. You can go into a super expensive restaurant, but if you get a bad waiter one day, it doesn't mean the steakhouse itself isn't good.

    We've been with American Home Shield for eight years now and 99% of the time, they're fantastic. They don't approve everything. For example, with the air conditioner claim, they only paid 1,000 bucks out of the 6,000 that it cost. But they got us a new dishwasher a few months back. American Home Shield totally has their act together. They do great. Their call center is dynamite.

    I'm glad to have American Home Shield. Recently, my air conditioner went out. I was about to go out of town on vacation, so I scheduled with them to have someone come back the first day that I was home, and they did that. The tech got it running but it broke again two days later. So, the same guy came back out and fixed it. He came out pretty quickly, so I wasn't without air very long and I didn't have to spend the night with anybody else. The tech was good, too, and so far, the AC is cooling really well. But every once in a while, it starts making this really loud, dripping noise, and it doesn't go on forever. So, I'm afraid I'm going to have to call the tech back, have him come back out and check on that. I'm not sure what's dripping, but I hate to incur another $75.

    I had no hot water and Home Shield made me wait a week to get somebody over here. I was upset that I had to wait a week to replace the water heater but they just sent somebody to look at it. Then I waited almost a week just to get a call back from them to tell me that there was gonna be a cost out of pocket for me, which I wasn't aware of. After that, I had to wait for the contractor. They had to put in a report to Home Shield first and Home Shield had to order the unit. They got it within a day or two and then I had to wait for their plumber to find time to come and do it.

    I had been boiling water to wash myself and I had not showered in three weeks. Thank God this was not the dead of winter because that should not be allowed. If Home Shield is gonna send somebody out to assess the problem, the contractor should come out within 24 hours. I don't think anybody should have to wait. A week is a long time for something like that. It's not like a washing machine or a dishwasher, where you could wash your own dishes and you could go to a laundromat. Also, I was on the phone with them and I had to hold for 45 minutes to an hour just to speak to someone every single time I called.

    But for our air conditioner claim, it was within a few days. Comfort Pros came out and fixed the problem. The tech replaced the motor outside and it's been working since. Also, the motor went on my pool and that was done within a week. But these are all things that you can live without. The hot water thing really upset me and I had to agree to pay $765 out of pocket. I'm grateful for the warranty. I don't have to pay for the whole thing out of my pocket but $765 is a lot of money.

    The young man from AirRite did something to the unit and it worked but it went out a few days later. The owner came out and checked it. I paid the first deductible and then, I paid for him to put the Freon in. That came out of my pocket because that was not covered under my warranty. I paid $150 and that was on top of the other so that was fine. It lasted just a few days though. I came home from work and it was warm in my house. I tried my fan to see which one was the coolest. Both of them were the same so, the unit was down again. I contacted American Home Shield again and the technician came back out. He said that there was a leak and that I needed a new unit. He said that my unit was older.

    When I got the first call from AHS, I was told that I was gonna have to pay $1,900 because there were some items that were not covered. I said that I didn't have 1,900. The lady called today and said that AHS could do some kind of cashout, which I don’t fully understand because I was frustrated. I would have to pay and then, I would get $1,300 back. I told her that I didn't have that much money. I'll just go buy me some more fans and I'll deal with it. I'm on a fixed budget and the fee is not gonna be in my bank for almost three more weeks. I've got house and car payments coming so I'll just wait and see what happens in about three weeks. The technicians who came out were above board and honest with me because they came out quickly. I had no problem with them but the warranty part is where I feel like I was deceived. They’ve been great but not the warranty. It's sad. People don't have money like that and they’re thinking that something is going to help.

    I thought that this warranty was gonna be a benefit because AHS came highly recommended by a friend of mine and I guess all her stuff has been covered completely. She said that I needed to get it just in case something breaks down. So, I said that I would give it a try. I’ve had this warranty for only about three months but if I have to, I'll just cancel it and do what I gotta do out of my own pocket. I would have to go out and physically look to see how much I could purchase a unit. I'm almost 60 and I feel it in my bones. Fall is around the corners so if I gotta go buy a window unit, I could probably get by. I'm not gonna be using it that much anyway.

    Submitted a service request online with AHS for A/C repair on 08/05/2020. Service provider was assigned and a technician arrived on 08/07. Technician determined the blower motor had failed and needed to be replaced. Called service provider back on Monday 08/10 to check status for repair and was told they were having trouble locating a replacement motor. After service provider was not able to find the motor, they notified AHS to get help sourcing the motor.

    After a week with heat indexes near 110, and no closer to a resolution, I called my local hvac company to see if they could help locate the motor. Within 15 minutes, my guy located the part. So I called the assigned provider back to let him know where the part was in stock. After several more conversations with the provider, I was told that AHS wouldn't authorize the motor we found because of the cost. So the problem wasn't part availability at all, it was AHS limiting where the part could be purchased and at what cost.

    It is now 08/16 and I still do not know when my A/C will be repaired. I have spent many hours on hold and then on the phone with AHS customer service (which is of course outsourced overseas) only to be no closer to a resolution. We purchased this home warranty for our daughter's home while at college to have supposedly peace of mind. This is the first time that we have owned a home warranty and will probably be the last. AHS makes it sound so appealing to get you sold, then once they have you hooked, they don't provide what they are selling. Classic bait and switch maneuvers. I've never been more frustrated dealing with company. Save your time and money. This company is a scam!

    AHSW sent out Mr. Rooter to fix. Faucet in bath tub and a leak to handle in tub when turned on. They super glue handle and put a shorter faucet in place of my original one. My was 6 inches they replaced with 5.5 inch leaving a gap between the flush mount faucet and my tile. Never finished job and worried that water would get between faucet and tile and cause damage to tile. Contractor stated they would be back out but never showed up after taking 1/2 day off my job which I am a essential worker in health field. They collected their $75 dollars, have never follow thru. I would never recommend Mr. Rooter to go to anyone house with their service and the type of work they did. Will be cancelling my AHSW soon as I can find a better one that works for their customers. I pay a healthy monthly payment to them each month to have them.

    I am getting tired of dealing with this company. Our central air has been giving us trouble since March. AHS has sent multiple technicians to our home and still have not fixed the problems. Here we are in August with no Ac. Ive had to buy window units to try to help cool our home down. I also had to pay for Freon twice. All of the technicians have said our unit is worn out and needs to be replaced. AHS IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. We are getting very tired of fighting with this company.     Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating provided good service. The gentleman arrived in a timely manner when they had pre-called to let me know when they were coming. He was very courteous. He had a mask on. He came and greeted me at the door, asked what symptoms we were having, and went and did an inspection on the unit. He didn't find anything wrong though. It was kind of a weird glitch. It had a problem then it started functioning correctly. I was afraid that he was gonna run into that. I'll just have to wait and see if we have another. As the machinery gets older, intermittent faults are a possibility. It can't reproduce when he's standing there and I understand that. He explained to me everything that he went through and tested, and I was very comfortable with his diagnosis.

    I've had American Home Shield going on 2 years now and I've only used it once but I find it to be good peace of mind. My brother and sister-in-law bought a house in the same timeframe that we did and have had multiple service calls in their house. They have seemed to get really good service too. I have a company that comes out twice a year and does regular overall grooming and tune up maintenance on the air conditioning system since we bought this house. I'm wondering if I have the option of selecting a maintenance company or a person to come out or is it going to always come out of American Home Shield's system.

    I would have readily called that company to come for that kind of maintenance because I have a maintenance program with them also. But it's not 100% free just like American Home Shield has a $75 service call fee. The only thing I was a little perplexed on was whether to call American Home Shield or to call the company that does the routine maintenance. Possibly, I'll just turn around and wait and use this, the new company when I start into next year. Currently, I already have another cleaning and inspection service available with the company that I maintain. However, and the main reason I use them is because when we bought this house, it's the people that the previous homeowner had been using. They had good reputation with the Better Business Bureau so I figured they know the history of the machinery in the house.

    Our shower was not providing accurate temperature water. The plumber who came out fixed the problem. He took apart our shower components and readjusted the knob to where it was more accurate, and we were able to get cold water instead of just warm to hot water. We had someone out for our AC, and I needed to call Home Shield and schedule or at least ask the tech what the next steps are for them to repair the AC. I'm hesitant to call Home Shield because I know it's gonna be an hour and a half wait to get on the phone with them. That one has just been the hardest part, that I have to set aside an hour and a half to wait on the phone to talk to someone when I'm gonna call them. That's just the only thing that has been the biggest challenge. You have to make sure that you have the time window to make sure you're waiting around for them.     My claim with AHS is still ongoing. It's been a month now that I've been without my refrigerator. The refrigerator side is freezing all the food. I’ve talked to American Home Shield four times and I've submitted three separate tickets. Initially, I submitted online as far as that the refrigerator was freezing the food. Appliance RX came out and he looked at it that Friday, and said, "Okay. I think I know what it is. Let me order parts." He ordered a sensor and a little circuit board. After he got the parts in, the following week on Friday, he came out and put in the sensor and the circuit board and said, "Okay. That should take care of it." I said, "Okay. That's fine." We put food back in there and it all froze. So we had to throw it away.

    I turned in another ticket. The contractor from Appliance RX, he ordered another sensor, came out the following Friday and said, "Oh, yeah. Well, sometimes the sensors are bad. So let me change out the sensor again." I said, "Okay. That's fine." He changed out the sensor. I put a glass of water in there and the water froze, after he put a sensor in. So it still wasn't fixed.

    Then I turned in another ticket. It was a different company by that Monday had called me and said, "I got assigned to your Samsung, but I don't work on Samsung." AHS should have known better. I was on the line at least three times with American Home Shield trying to like, "Are you gonna get somebody out here?" Eventually, they assigned somebody else. He came out last Friday and said it’s the damper. He took off the damper and it rattled 'cause there's a broken piece in there and it fell out. Now, I'm still waiting for that company to come and install the damper. So it will be a month tomorrow. As far as the company, it was like, "When I get the part, I'll schedule you immediately, and come out here and do it."

    When AHS initially put in for the company that doesn't work on Samsungs, trying to get that rescheduled was absolutely a nightmare 'cause AHS was saying, "We can't do anything 'cause Appliance RX is doing something with a sensor." I said, "Yeah. That's the second time. They still wanna get paid for their second sensor." They were like, "We can't verify that 'cause they haven't gotten back to us and it's later at night." I said, "Okay. So what do I do?" They said, "I'm sorry, you can't. There's nothing we can do. We can't schedule another contractor. We can't do anything for you until we verify that." So it was about three days later before they could even assign somebody else. I have gone out to other warranty companies to see about changing after I get this resolved.

    This is the third time that American Home Shield sent True Master out for the AC. We're trying to figure out what the issue is. We kinda narrowed it down to possibly not enough circuits, but that doesn't have anything to do with them. Every time that they've come out, they've been very professional and timely.     Even though we had an inspector, something did go wrong. Supposedly, they inspected all the appliances and the first time we used the dishwasher, it had a problem. But that wasn’t AHS and the only issue I had with them was the wait. We called on a Saturday and nobody could even call us till Monday. The company that AHS hired called us first thing on early Monday morning at a reasonable time. We were very happy with the person who came and that they did call us right away and they gave us the quickest possible day. He wore a mask and he was very professional an polite. He handled everything the way he should and he showed me what was wrong. He fixed it efficiently and he came on time. We would have liked him to come sooner but we're happy with it. We weren't living in the house and we were just moving stuff in and cleaning dishes so it wasn't a major inconvenience.

    I don't know that we'll get our money back from AHS but that's what's true of any insurance. The person who told us to get a warranty and recommended AHS had a situation where she got it and only had to pay $75 to get her AC totally replaced or fixed. So, she said it was gonna be worth it. And it was definitely worth it to get something like that because our home was used.

    It's easy to submit orders if you go online, but there needs to be some way to contact American Home Shield via telephone if you have a question that doesn't regard a repair job. I had another question regarding an issue, but I couldn't talk to them directly, and that was a problem. On my first claim, we were having problems because my AC wasn't going on when it should, as far as the thermostat. I called them and a fellow from the contracted company came out very quickly. He found the problem. He also cleared up another issue that we thought we were having with the AC, but apparently it wasn't an issue at all.

    American Home Shield sent Frog Pro Services for our AC. The tech was really friendly and knew exactly what to do. He and my husband were talking about sports. He was very talkative and easy going. He was a nice guy. I've used American Home Shield a few times, and the only thing I don’t like about them is paying the $75 when somebody comes out. I had ABC before and we didn't have to do that. So I don't really understand why are we paying the $75 when somebody comes out when we're paying every month. Also, the monthly rate with ABC and them is not a big difference.

    This is the second time the air conditioning had an issue. So, the contractor from AHS came and they fixed that. I also had a claim with the faucet. The sprayer had messed up on there. The guy that came out was really nice. He called me back. It was an older thing, so he ended up finding one because he was doing stuff with apartments. He said it was gonna be hard to find what I had in there until I was ready to purchase one. He said, “Well, they're not gonna put what's in here or what you really want. So it'd be better if you just get what you want one day on your own and put it in there.” But he found one and he put it in. It’s been working fine ever since.

    ARC was the third company that American Home Shield called to try and fix the fridge. They came out once for a quick inspection. But we were not satisfied with the progress that was being made in general. Everybody was just guessing what was wrong and we had already been without a fridge for over three weeks. It was 22 years old and we were probably gonna replace it within the next year anyway, we just decided to replace the fridge instead of having them try to guess on another possible fix and maybe wait another week or two. They didn't do anything wrong but the process with three different companies and six visits took so long that we wanted some sort of resolution. Also, the contractors were doing the best they could with a very old unit so I wasn't upset about the quality of the contractors. They were all courteous and they responded to calls quickly.

    The capacitor and the motor outside for the downstairs AC unit went bad. I called Home Shield on a Wednesday and the earliest A+ Comfort could give me was a Saturday. I called again on Thursday and the lady tried her best to get me an earlier service. She was very cordial but she couldn't find anybody. She apologized and explained what was happening.     I had AHS years ago and we couldn't afford it anymore ‘cause it got so expensive. When I started, the whole house only cost me $39 for the appliances and it also covered the air conditioning. But it went up so much that we couldn't afford it so we stopped it. We also ended up getting new appliances so I didn't feel that I needed the warranty. But now that we had bought more new appliances about three years ago and their warranty is just about up, I thought of buying the whole house program again. I looked at different places but I felt that American Home Shield was the best, safest, and reliable. I’ve always liked them and I have suggested their service to a couple of my friends.

    The AHS rep took all the information right away when I submitted a claim for the AC. She told me who it was who was gonna call me. But they didn't call me early the next day. So I called them and it was very convenient. Integrity was very good. They came out at the time they said they would. They kept their distance and they had masks on. They even had gloves on when they came to the door, too. They were very professional.

    I had two different reps come out. The first one was a very knowledgeable, good, and friendly young guy. He was definitely learning, but he was a great guy. A piece was ordered but I was a little upset that it took four days to get it. I thought they could’ve had it in stock or could’ve gotten it quicker, but I didn’t know if they're required to order it from a certain place. The second guy came out with the motor. He knocked on the door, told me he had it, went out, and put it in. When he was done, he left. It looked like a different motor that they put in. It was like a different setup with a wire that he had to strap to the top fan grate. But I've seen it in other air conditioners and everything works fine.

    The refrigerator was not producing the ice. I called Home Shield and the next day, they told me that someone was coming out. East Coast United came in and assessed what was going on. They showed me that there were some pieces that were clogged and they showed me how I need to make sure to adjust it.     I used AHS once. It was for a plumbing issue with the washer hookup and that was resolved. The contractor that came out was great. This time, the technician didn't have to come out. I fixed the issue. I'm hoping I get refunded this last $100 that I paid because I didn't utilize it. I called my friend, he’s a plumber, after I had already called American Home Shield. My friend told me what to do. My experience with AHS is good although I’m unable to talk to somebody because it is a three-hour hold to even talk to somebody.     A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and the guy said we were short on freon. He put some in there and our problem stopped. He was professional. The other guy came out twice and the problem wasn't fixed. We had to pay for it. Then this guy came out and he fixed it, and we had to pay again. That was kind of not cool that we had to pay after the last guy came out twice. I recommend American Home Shield to my clients and, in fact, I sign my clients up for American Home Shield but I don't like having to be charged twice.

    I've had American Home Shield on other houses. I'm a real estate broker and a friend of ours at the title company was saying another company might cover more stuff for less money when we bought the house. I told her I normally use American Home Shield and she said it wouldn't hurt to try other companies. I went through several and looked at what they would cover. We tried another company for a year and when it came due, I looked at American Home Shield. They really do cover more than this other company so we went back to them.

    There was a leak. I thought it was a leak coming from the pipe coming out the wall. But when the guy came, he said it wasn't that. It took a real good professional to look at it. It was the faucet that was leaking from the back of the sink. He didn't have the actual piece within that day, but he made an appointment to come back. He did and fixed it in maybe 40 minutes. The experience was very good.

    I’ve been in my place now about five years and I’ve had American Home Shield ever since I started. Filing a claim is not difficult but sometimes they get so many customers that it’s hard to get through. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit about two years ago and everything was taken care of. But because it was hot, I was being bothered and I wanted my air conditioning fixed.     When we closed on the house, the homeowner had to give us a home warranty and we decided to upgrade American Home Shield and keep it there. I had them in one of my other houses before too and I appreciate them taking care of stuff. I felt that the claims submission process was good. I got good answers and I got called back on time. They told me who was coming and kept me informed. So far, the service was good. It’s worth what I pay them for.

    Martin's Heating did what they said they were gonna do, they showed up on time, and they gave a fair price. They had on their mask and gloves as well. There were other guys that came before them and they explained to me what the issue was. However, they said they couldn't fix my unit until it went bad because it had to go bad first so American Home Shield could take care of it, so I knew it was coming.     The claim started with my AC unit. It wasn't blowing out anything. I called the number and told American Home Shield what was going on. I told them that I needed someone to call me and let me know what was gonna happen as soon as possible. I waited a couple days and I wasn’t very happy the first time because the people that they assigned to me never called me. I called them again and I was telling them it was over 100 degrees here and I got two little kids. Sometimes you talk with someone with a thick accent so they have to keep repeating it. That was a little aggravating because it was hot as heck and there was no air. They called the company that they assigned and after some back and forth, I finally got somebody to come out that evening.

    There were two guys and they were fine. They went inside and did something with the AC from the inside. They changed out my wall unit thermometer then they went outside and they did some work on the AC outside. They came back and told me they needed a floorboard and they were gonna have to hook it up so it could work. This was on the afternoon of Friday. They came back Monday and put the floorboard on and it was working again.

    When the guy that I have to cut my grass came a few days ago, he brought me outside and told me there were all these exposed wires. It was a potential hazard. It could catch on fire and knock out my electrical. I got kids out and they could come and touch it. I needed to call American Home Shield back ‘cause it was really dangerous. The day before yesterday, I called American Home Shield again. I got some pictures first. I told them what the guy told me and they said they were gonna send the contractor back out here.

    Last night, a different guy came out and he was very shocked at what he saw. He said it is not the work they do. It’s from the same company that came out and he was a little upset. He brought an electrical tape and cut the wire again. He put electric tape on them and fixed it. He had to take the panel off and put the cords back in the panel ‘cause they just left the cords hanging out of the panel. Then he came in, looked and asked if they replaced my filter. I said I didn't think so and nobody said anything to me. He came in, took the filter, looked at it and took a picture of it. He said, “No, they didn’t.” He put a new filter on and said, “You’re good now.” He was really nice and cool about it and the air started working ever since. As far as American Home Shield, they did what they were supposed to do so I don't have a complaint with them.

    I have two units, one on the east side and one on the west side of the house. I had tried to contact American Home Shield again yesterday afternoon to see if the contractor could come and see what's going on with the AC. American Home Shield could improve on the hold time to get someone on the phone to answer when we're trying to call in. Yesterday, it was an hour and a half wait. I was on the road, so I could not waste my battery on trying to have someone answer the phone.

    I wanted to see what had been done previously to the one on the west side to see if it could be done to the one on the east side because it had the same issue, but it was a different company that had come. I didn't like that company so I had requested Hector's AC. He came right away. He looked to see what was wrong but he said he couldn't find anything wrong other than the freon was low so he refilled. He was there a couple hours, looked for issues but said he didn't find anything. But it's acting up again. I could hear the compressor going and the air blowing, but the AC was not cooling.

    When my AC wasn't frosting, I called Home Shield and then I was able to file a claim over the phone. It was easy to set up the claim and automatically that same day, Air Connection Mechanical called me. When the technician came, he said the part inside the AC wasn't working and then he said he was gonna contact Home Shield and see. The next day, he contacted them and after that, he came and replaced the part that wasn't working right away. He was a very nice person and he did what he had to do. The repair helped, especially since it was summer and it was hot inside.

    Circa Mechanical came out the first time for our plumbing leak. The plumber said that they did not find a leak. He cut a hole and looked, “I didn’t see anything.” But then when the restoration company came out, they said that there was a leak behind the commode. So they sent their own plumber to repair it. But when they finished, I went back a couple of days later, it looked like it was still leaking.

    I was trying to get the plumbing company, Circa, to come back out and look at it again. But the second time the contractors came out, they didn’t show up. The guy said he was on his way, but nobody showed up. So Monday, I called that same number and asked, “You’ve texted me but you didn't show up.” He said, “You have to call the company.” I said, “Why would you text me and you don’t show up? I stayed at home waiting for you.” I had to call two times to get them to finally come back out, which was days later. Then the last guy came out, he was really nice and he could not find a leak. But it was wet ‘cause it was still dripping from the construction.

    Their follow-up is horrible. Whoever the dispatcher is should’ve made sure that those calls were followed through instead of putting it was complete ‘cause it wasn’t complete. They kept putting “complete”. So it could have been someone just not reading it well ‘cause American Home Shield called them the second time out. I was on the phone with American Home Shield. So somebody could have read it and thought, “Oh, we were just out there. Maybe this is a mistake.” But the plumbers, except for that one that didn't show up, were very professional.

    The icemaker in the refrigerator wasn't working and the timer on the dryer stopped working. I called AHS and Jim's Appliance of Inman came out. My wife was here when the tech came and she was satisfied and pleased. The contractor made two trips out because they had to diagnose what the issue was and then come back and repair it. The dryer and the icemaker now work.

    We've had three or four claims over the time and AHS has always gotten to it and it's been fine. The only complaint I would have is that somewhere in their literature it says I would be contacted within 24 hours but that doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's a little longer than that. Other than that, we've been satisfied to this point.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been very good. The professionalism and work have been very well done. The only issue I've had is sometimes when I make the request over the phone, the order doesn't get transmitted correctly. So for example, I had a couple of toilets that weren't flushing properly. When it was given to the vendor, they said, "The work order only says one. So you have to call back to get it adjusted before the person comes." So I ended up having to spend half an hour with the hold times, and I understand with COVID-19, we all operate differently. But that's been the only hiccup that I've had. The technicians are fantastic.

    Arizona Value Appliance Repair came out for both of my claims. One was for the washer and then the other was for the refrigerator. I called American Shield to say that I needed assistance and I was told that someone would be contacting me. Then I got a call from the company to say that they had received the claim and that they would be sending a person out, and then they followed up.

    The washer was working but there was an odor and a mold problem around the rubber part of it. The company said that American Home Shield would not cover anything other than if the washer wasn't working. But they just told me to leave the door open instead. So, they were able to assist me with that part with the odor. With the refrigerator claim, the tech came initially and diagnosed what the problem was and they ordered a part. Then they came back and replaced the part. Now the refrigerator is fine.

    I've been receiving notices on my email saying that the bill with AHS has not been paid. I kept trying to pay it and then I’d try to call but I couldn't talk to anyone. I sat on the phone for almost an hour, trying to get through to the billing area because of those notices that I received and I couldn't get through. This had been going on for two weeks and I stopped trying to call them.

    My experience with AHS has been questionable because I don't know all of what my benefits are. So when I've used it, I'm beginning to find out through using the process, what you can, what you have, and what you don't have in terms of coverage. I would like to have a more complete succinct listing of what is covered and what is not. But in the end, I did get my appliance repaired especially the refrigerator. I'm very pleased with that.

    Myers Comfort Specialists of Montgomery did a great job with our plumbing issue. They were very professional, respectful of the home and the current precautions that we’re taking because of COVID. It was great service. When we moved into our house though, I had to have a claim escalated because they were taking a while to return the motherboard to our oven. We waited for six to eight weeks, so we couldn't use the oven for two months almost. I don't fry food, so it was a pain for us. This was four years ago and other than that, I haven't had any issues.

    The people that American Home Shield has sent out have been helpful. The claims submission process is efficient as well. However, sometimes they'll ask questions that we don't have the answer to and them asking three times is annoying. I don't know what's wrong with the unit and that's why I'm calling to get somebody to come out. Also, although it may be an oven or a plumbing issue, those are the things that can put a family's life on pause. So, they should be aware of that when they're assigning technicians that can respond in a prompt and timely manner.

Working through the computer at times to make an appointment can be frustrating, but everything has showed up within the time windows and helped us out. We had two contractors that showed up, one for our refrigerator and the other one for our garbage disposal. We were worried that the disposal was completely done, and the guy was able to fix that and it took him 30 minutes. He was good and he was friendly and knowledgeable as well.     American Home Shield was recommended to me from another person. For the most part, I have not had a problem with their contractors. I submit my claims by phone, and the AHS agents are good. If there is a repeat of the service and the contractor has to come back out, the 60 days that they give you has been pretty good. If you call and say your hot water heater needs to be replaced, as an example, you are charged the $100 deductible. But then, the contractor also would say to you, “There are certain parts that are not covered.” It might be some plumbing problems or piping, and I don’t think that’s fair. You’re paying $100 service fee, you’re paying additional fee each month to cover the thing, and then the person comes out, and you’re gonna spend another couple $100 on parts. Compared to other services, the price is a little high. Other than that, I'm satisfied.

    The trouble I was having was the hot water heater wouldn't stay lit. So then the contractors came out and he put some part on there. Everything's working good. They did a good job. Submitting the claim with AHS was an easy process. However, the contract I had, I thought that my garbage disposal was included on it and it comes down to it wasn't. But as far as what they covered, it's cut-and-dry.

    American Home Shield has been great over the years, except for this last time. I have a basement bathroom in a finished townhouse and it's got an ejector pump because it's below grade. So, the waste line going out of the house is three and a half feet above the floor. It's similar to a sump pump what it does is once you flush a toilet or a sink, the water, the waste, pumps up to the waste line and out of the house. That got clogged and the pump burned out. AHS had taken care of that before for me. This is the first time I've really had a problem.

    I called in for the service and they gave me the contractor. The contractor tried to hold me up for more money to come on a Saturday and under the circumstances, with a 96-year-old invalid that had no bathroom to use. I can’t get her up the stairs. I had to use a commode and it was really horrendous. I cancelled them and I hired a plumber from the outside. I spent $1,500 and I've been trying to get AHS on the phone to get a refund of $90 fee. Other than this time, it's been great. We've had them for seven years and I probably used them 10 times, and they've always showed up and fixed the problem. My experience is good. I won't hold this one against them ‘cause it was the contractor.

    It is Arizona in the summertime and it's 112 degrees outside. The air conditioner had been running almost constantly. My electric bill has gone through the roof. So I knew something was wrong. Just Better Air Conditioning and Heating came out and inspected the unit. What was really great about it was although the air conditioner worked just fine, he did figure out what the problem was and it had something to do with my ductwork. This is a mobile home and all the ductwork runs underneath it. Some of that ductwork had come unhooked. So a bunch of that cold air is going under the house instead of in the house.

    The technician checked all the temperatures. He checked the unit and made sure that it was running properly and that it wasn't dirty. He also checked the filters. There was a split differential between what the temperature was supposed to be coming out of the registers and what was going into the vent, and those were all aligned. They were actually awesome. They did a really great job and were on time. The guy had a mask and gloves on. Overall, American Home Shield is efficient, trustworthy, and well worth the price.

    The contractor was good. But sometimes, it was hard getting in touch with them to get things scheduled because they have different offices. So you have to call a 1-800 number to try and get scheduling. Sometimes, the young lady that answers the phone doesn't make things a priority. I told her we were out without AC for a week and she said they could't get somebody out for two more days. I told her there was an elderly person here who was having a hard time and I asked her if she could get somebody sooner. They finally got back out and fixed it. It is cooling now but we've had to put in at least maybe four or five work orders for the AC in the last year. I'm not sure why they keep fixing pieces and pieces of it.

    I'm a little frustrated with American Home Shield, especially with the AC part about it, that they keep sending someone out to just fix it instead of considering replacing it or fixing it all at one time instead of having to pay $75 each time to reservice the unit. I had another problem with my refrigerator with American Home Shield. I had been begging them to send out another vendor to fix the fridge. They should do a more thorough inspection of the item when the vendor is called out.

    New Phase seemed to be responsive and they did great. Our air was totally out and they came out and got it back on. We continued to have issues with it. They seemed to follow up with them and took care of that. But American Home Shield was terrible when I submitted the claim. I had to call and follow up all the time. New Phase would have not been out there if I hadn't made the call. American Home Shield didn't follow up at all. The replacement value of stuff with smaller claims was way better than with the bigger claims. The sump pump and the dishwasher claims were pretty easy. The replacement value seemed transparent. But my issue with the air conditioner was that the value wasn't even close.

    The cost that I was being charged for what was considered modifications was outrageous. So they wanted me to pay $1,800 out of my pocket to replace my air conditioner but then they said the value of my air conditioner would be $800 per part. But when I talked to other contractors and New Phase as well, they told me that there was no way they could buy the part for that much. American Home Shield framed it in a way that they have a better cost that they can get them for. The person I talked to said $1,300 dollars was the cheapest that they could get it and I was offered at 800. That was not even up-charged cost, which happens when you work with businesses because they have to make money. In that regard, it probably will cause me to cancel once I get my air conditioner in place.

    We were in the middle of the fan and we pushed the button. We pulled the switch to make the fan go on a little bit faster and smoke started coming from the fan. So I called American Home Shield and JT Electrical Services came out. The tech was on time. He did the diagnostic tests and he said the fan had died and that he would submit a claim and they would replace the fan. He would get back with me after he hear back from American Home Shield. After they got a response back from them, they called and told me that they would be ordering the fan and they would call me when the fans come in, which usually take up to a week.

    When the fan came in, they scheduled an appointment to come out and put the fan in. He said it would take about an hour and it took about a hour. He put it in and replaced them. He was done. Everything went lovely. I've had American Home Shield for almost 40 years and I like them. They are very fast and they have sent out some good, reliable people. I've recommended them to one of my friends and she signed up with them.

    The website of American Home Shield was easy to use. I reached out to them once I got a number on their contact information on the website. I called 'cause of the AC. It's summer. The contractors that came were okay and really quick. They were responsive. I thought they should've done it in the first round, not three times, but they were good. The first time, they worked on both units, and then the one downstairs kept on having issues. They replaced the same piece twice. The first time, we had a little computer on the outside, a furnace, and then they also had to replace a whole vent in the attic. They fixed it and they were prompt.     During the COVID, it's tougher to get ahold of a live person at Home Shield, which was disappointing, but they have an automated system. I scheduled for someone to come out for my AC through the automated system. The system works well. Then, the tech from Excellence Air called and said that they had a cancellation and he could come out earlier than scheduled. He came out on the same day and he was wearing safety gear. He went over outside to the air conditioning unit and he was out there for quite some time.     We just bought a house. Within the first 30 days, we found out that we had three furnaces and three air conditioners, and two of each did not work. We moved in after July 4th, the hottest part of the year, and submitted the claim because we thought something was wrong with the air conditioner. It took almost two weeks to get a company assigned. I wasn't able to get through to anyone. I tried Home Shield's online chat. I'm on the West Coast. I assume they are on the East Coast. Because if I logged in at five o'clock in the morning, sometimes I could get the option to log into the chat and I was able to get on there three times. They said that they would tell the services to try to expedite it because my complaint was, we did not have any air conditioning and it was 100 degrees out, and we just bought this house.

    We were upset and we were just trying to use our home policy so that we can get an AC. Capital Control did a good job. However, I was at my wit's end to just have a contractor come out and just pay for it all myself, which I should have done because I ended up having to pay probably 95% of the bill anyway. I had to spend almost $2,000 out of my own pocket. I was disappointed that Home Shield didn't cover more. But I guess they only cover $10 for refrigerant. I'm still trying to figure it out because the system needs to be replaced. It's not operating like it should. Do your homework on home warranties. Know what you are buying ahead of time.

    The technician from Accent Air looked at the AC unit and he was pretty shocked that it worked as well as it did, considering how hot it was and how cool it was in our house. He stayed away from me when he was here. He said that everything was fine and he also recommended some kind of cleaning to keep us from having a more expensive problem later. He wasn't able to do it for us on the spot. He said that we had to follow our home warranty. So he submitted it to American Home Shield and they were supposed to call us. But that was just an extra precaution that it should get cleaned out sometimes and wasn't something that needed to be done. American Home Shield has been pretty good, so far.

    1st of all American Home Shield has great contractors. The problems is their customer service. I called on a Friday and the lady put me on hold and then disconnected the call. So I called back on Saturday and got a call back one and half later. The guy never did understand be all he kept wanting was my credit card. I ask for a supervisor and his name and ID number, he said his name was Robert and that all the information he would give me. So I call a company to get my car out of my garage because you can't get anyone on the phone to help you. So now I have to pay out of pocket.

    Our fridge leaks and they were supposed to fix it but the service repair people lied and said they installed the part. They did not. After 3 times of calling and being on hold an hour each we asked for a supervisor. He called 3 days later after being promised a 24 hr callback back and said he would research it.     HORRIBLE service! I am now going on 6 weeks attempting to get my dishwasher repaired/replaced and can't get anywhere with the company! On July 8, 2020 they contracted Sears to repair our dishwasher. The tech came out on July 11th and diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. As of July 22nd the part needed was and is still on backorder, so Sears recommended we contact AHS and request a replacement since they didn't know when or even IF they would get the part. After contacting AHS on MULTIPLE occasions, I keep getting told the situation is going to be escalated and I'll get a return call in 48 hours. Still nothing and I'm calling every 3 days! AHS is saying they can't take the customer's word that the dishwasher needs replaced and they have to contact Sears to confirm. However, their notes say the hold time to Sears is too long and they have to disconnect after 16 minutes.

    16 minutes is nothing compared to the hold time with AHS, I wait on hold for an average of one hour every time I have to call them. But they can't stay on hold on behalf of a paying customer for more than 16 minutes in order to resolve this issue? I've never had such blatant disregards for a customer's concerns or willingness to complete their job. The total lack of communication is extremely disrespectful and I will definitely be terminating my service with them as soon as this gets resolved.

    There was no hot water so I called American Home Shield and put the request in for it to be fixed. The next day the plumbing people called and scheduled a time to come out and then fixed it. The issue was just a heating element. The hard water messes them up. The tech was very professional. He had to drain the hot water tank. He was so quick in the basement. There was very, very little water on that old metal concrete floor. He then told me what happened. So it was good.

    The claims process was pretty good, except the part when you try to call them. Sometimes it's hard to get through and talk to a live person. You can hardly get ahold of anybody. You either have to do it online but some of us are kinda old school and we wanna talk to somebody and relay what's happening. But everything else went super, super great. Once the claim was filed, it wasn't too long for the contractor to call.

    A couple of days ago, the outside AC unit was not working. There was no fan working outside. AHS told me that it would go into within two or three hours to put the name of the company that they were going to send, and I contacted them. They said that they would be there the next day. Weathervane Heating & Cooling had to replace the burned capacitor and then it started. They've done very good and there no issues with the AC. The service was very helpful because without AC, it would be very difficult for me. It's a pretty hot summer in Michigan.

    I have one more claim and American Home Shield has to send me money. It has been pending since 7th of July. That was very painful because when I call in, I had to wait three to four hours because they didn't have enough teleoperator. Otherwise, in terms of a warranty issue, I don't have any problem. They are pretty quick and they never bother me.

The faucet took a while but the claim with the roof was good. He fixed it on time. He was a very nice guy and very professional. I was very pleased with him. But there's a difference between dealing with the guy and dealing with the company because I had texted them and they ignored and they did not answer for a I had to call American Home Shield and they said it was because they made a mistake and they fixed it right away and took care of it. But the communication was not effective because I had to get back and forth to them about the kitchen faucet.     For an AC claim, American Home Shield had Moore Air out and everything was perfect. They were very good. In one day, our house went to 91 degrees. I really didn't expect them to be able to get out here as soon as they did. I called in the claim on a Thursday night and they got out Friday around 11:30. It was so hot in the house already. The tech fixed the unit that day. He had his parts on the truck. He was very professional and wore a mask. It was really nice.

    I like American Home Shield. The only thing is we sold a home and I have been trying to call to cancel one of the policies. I was transferred around and I couldn't get through. It's kind of difficult as we have multiple policies. At the time, we had two rental homes. Right now I need to call something in for this home and I'm not sure if I would be able to do it online or I would have to call because either the main house will show up or a rental. You can't do everything online.

    A few weeks ago, I had an issue with a dishwasher that was leaking. SRL Services came out to handle it. The techs needed to put a new seal around the door. That claim was completed and I really liked the tech very much. He was very professional and did exactly what he said he was gonna do. For my second claim, I had an issue with our fire and carbon detector in the hallway which was beeping and beeping. A tech came out and said that he didn't know whether AHS would pay for the fix or not but they could get me another detector. He said that it would be my responsibility to change the batteries in the other detector. He gave me a bill and said that he was gonna order the detector. I haven't seen that tech since. I don't want to pay AHS for that service call because that guy didn't do anything.

    AHS is a little expensive and they don't tell me stuff that I don't know I should do. When I made the claim for my dishwasher and smoke detector, I made two separate claims. The tech told me that I could have put both of those in the same claim and I would have had to pay just $100 instead of $200. If AHS could lower their price or give me a little COVID discount, it would be nice. Still, I can call and text them quickly. I had an issue with my dishwasher before involving my disposal and their techs did what they needed to do.

    Seabreez was horrible. The man that came out here said, "You needed a canister," which I already knew what I needed. He also said, "But then in order for your air condition to work, you got to clean the filter." and that was $400. Being women, people take advantage of us. They tell us what we're supposed to have and probably I didn't even need that 'cause all the guy did was take a hose. He could have told me to do that, but for $400, that's what he did. They were only here for 10 minutes and then they left. It wasn't getting cold still, so I called them back. The guy asked if any cool air was coming out and I said there was. He said, "Well, when that stopped, then give us a call back."

    They just took my money and then won't even come back to see what the problem was, so then I had to call someone else. I had to call American Home Shield back again for another vendor to come out and the second one that came was perfect. They did what they had to do and I haven't had problems since. It's not American Home Shield's fault that the first guy was a flake. They only do with who they know in the area and Seabreez was in the area. Still, they should do a little bit more investigating with the people they send over here. The girl was courteous though.

    Superior came out one time and took pictures and sent them to American Home Shield. Then a couple of weeks went by. Then I called American Home Shield back and they said, "The work was completed." But nothing was done. So they submitted another work order this past week. I got another text message saying the work has been done. So I have to call American Home Shield back and ask them what's going on. I'm frustrated with them and it's not Superior's fault because I called Superior and they said, "They canceled the work order, so we can't do anything." AHS needs to work on communication between them and the customer. They need to tell me why they canceled the work order and give me a call back.     I first put in the ticket that the fan was making noise. But by that night, after I'd already put the ticket in, it started not cooling. I spoke to Godfather Heating and Air that very next morning. They were gonna try and fit me in that very next day after putting the ticket if there were any cancellations, but there weren't. So, they came out first thing the following morning. It was a quick turnaround. They repaired and we had to pay the difference for the coolant, but then it was good to go. I've had American Home Shield for several years now and I've been happy so far.     The original guys who came in and looked at the AC unit were thorough. We tried to keep our distance because of Covid, so I was in one area and my husband was dealing with them. He said that when they checked the unit, they did a good job. The air conditioner was leaking and they thought that there might be some debris in the line, which was causing it to back up. It's because the condensation was building up and leaking down into where we have the unit into the concrete slab underneath the house. They blew out the line to make sure all the debris was out of the way and now, the unit is fine.

    If somebody's concerned about mold though, ‘cause it could happen, people should be aware that American Home Shield fixes the problem, but they don't fix the damage that was caused. I didn't like that fact. When you call American Home Shield, usually something's already wrong, whether it be a leak or something else. I asked if they helped with damage to certain things, whether or not it be just picking up the water from the carpet, and they said no. Not everybody's gonna ask, but my husband and I have asthma, so we have to be sure that everything is taken care of. With the amount of money that we spend a year for American Home Shield, there should be something that would help.

    We have the $75 fee that we paid as well and I don't question it at all. The coverage has helped us out tremendously, especially if we have something go wrong, but then, our carpet in our hallway was really wet and it took us a while to be able to get that clean. Hopefully within time, we won't see mold coming up from the carpet area. Another thing is American Home Shield doesn't help with carpet problems. Do you see the problem? My husband and I are both senior citizens. He's still working and we were looking at the situation saying, “Well, do we just pick up the carpet and put something else down that we don’t have to deal with it again?” but then there's another cost. It's very difficult. I can't get the damage fixed after it's done, especially if it's a water heater or an AC unit.

    If the carpet damage is done because of water damage, the house insurance will not pay for that because it's not of a natural resource. If our roof came off, and we had rain coming in and it damaged the carpet, that would be covered. Because it was condensation from the AC unit though, they won't. If American Home Shield came up with a contract with somebody who does carpet stuff, even if they just specify they will only suck up the water that the damage that the AC unit caused, that would be great. But then they don't. There is no help beyond that. They said the only thing that they do is fix the problem. They don't help fix the damage that was done because of the problem and I don't quite understand that part. I'm a retired nurse, so I know what mold can do. This is something that we are concerned about, but we won't know for a while if we're gonna have problems with mold in the carpet.

    Also, even though American Home Shield outlines everything that they cover, especially with our policy, I still have to call and make sure I know exactly what's covered. For instance, we have old fans in our house and, believe it or not, I have coverage for them. I was thinking about calling American Home Shield because we have a short in two of our fans. Problem is, because they're shorted, I don't want anybody coming in and just fixing them and leaving. I know electricians do a good job, but these fans are old. I want the option of having it completely replaced, but American Home Shield stated that if they could be fixable to work, then they don't replace them. I have a problem with that. I can't deal with a short. I don't want a fire in my home.

    There's a short in the fan in my room and I'm sure the electrician could take that fan down, fix the short or whatever is going on with it and then put it back. The fan will work, but I don't trust the fan because it is that old. All in all, I've never had an issue with American Home Shield, but that was the one thing that stuck out to me when it came to them. Still, they're not a bad company. We just bought this house and they saved us a lot of money. When you're spending that much money for American Home Shield to save you that much money though, you want that extra concern.

I was able to talk to a live person for my claim and then they got me connected ASAP to a company that I was able to talk to live as well. They were wonderful.     We moved into our house last September and we bought American Home Shield before we moved in because we weren't sure of everything in the house. We have used them a few different times and the claims went right through. Somebody is out in a day or two. Something with the condenser outside and the motor which spun the fan died. American Home Shield had OSA Heating & Cooling come out. They replaced the part and everything has been okay so far.

    We're gonna renew with American Home Shield next month. I do everything with them online so I don't have to talk to them unless I need to. Everything's okay. The only thing I wasn't sure about is the price of our renewal is a little bit higher than it was when we first got it last year. They didn't explain but that's just with any type of policy. It usually increases the following year just like in with auto insurance.

    Hall's HVAC finally came out. They were fixing to do something to fix it then it would start messing up like the way it was in a couple of days. This is the third recall. The first time, it was probably a couple of days and then a day. This time, it's been probably about four days. American Home Shield has been sending out the same contractor. That first time, I kinda told the guy that the water was running. He was telling me he didn't see it. He couldn't find it. The second time, I was telling him it was. He said, “Oh, I didn't see that then, but I see it now.” I told him I told him the first time, and I saw it, but he said he didn't.

    We were seeing where the leak was coming from. The water was leaking into two other rooms in the house so we were having to put pails out to keep it dry. If we could show it to them and they'd listen then try to find out what was going on, that would have been better. But my husband said that the guy was doing the best job he could. American Home Shield's service is fine. Lately, with the pandemic, it takes a long time to get through. But once you get through, the reps are courteous. They listen to what I say so I haven't had any problems with them. They go ahead and send the contractor within an hour, and we know who's coming out.

    The experience was great in submitting a claim with AHS. I didn't have any issues. I had the contractors of AHS come out to service a refrigerator. The contractor was fine. I had to call him out several times over the past couple of weeks to get my issue fixed in my fridge, but they were good. The ice maker wasn't producing any type of ice. So, I called them out, and then they came and they looked at it and replaced a bunch of parts over a period of weeks. I called them out like five times. So on the fifth time, they finally got it.

    They were able to come out within one hour 'cause they've been busy 'cause of the pandemic. So, it was just whenever they were available to get out, they would give me a call to let me know.     We had to move from Arizona to Ohio and we couldn't afford to sell our house in Yuma, Arizona. We set up with our rental agent so that we could rent it and when we set up the contract for the rental, she requested that we get a home warranty for it. We selected American Home Shield and then there was a time when, according to the rental agent, the air conditioning in the home was making a loud noise. For that particular call, I was on hold for two hours, but when I talked to the reps, they were polite and businesslike. They seem as helpful as any other and they're doing their best, but they're overwhelmed right now. Other than that, Fleshers Refrigeration came out, addressed the problem and the issue was resolved.

    I have a warranty for my house here in Ohio as well and normally, I just go online to make my requests. Typically, they give you a date and a time when to expect the contractors. For some reason though, I can't set up an online account for the home we still own in Arizona. I've talked to American Home Shield five times and we've gone online too. I have to get on the phone for my claims and I have to wait on hold. There was also another incident where they said they'd call me back. I don't mind being in line and letting them call me back, but they never called me back.

    Overall, as long as I can make the request online and I'm not on hold or waiting for days just to make a request, it's fine. That's my biggest complaint. I live in a rural area, so sometimes, I might wait a week or two before somebody can show up and fix anything. I have a plumber down the street and they can't get anybody out to me for two weeks too. I had a problem with my plumbing and even if I call my local plumber, it's not any different.

    For me living here, I don't think that I would get a different service. If I have a specific issue, I have to wait for an appointment and I understand that. If there was an emergency, I would have to keep calling around till somebody answered. I couldn't use American Home Shield. It's not their fault that I live in a rural area and there's not a lot of people. For general maintenance things though, I can use them. They're effective.

    Everything went great with Cedar Creek. The AC unit is working fine. We currently got a claim on our heater. That's been a little bit more touch-and-go. We probably live 35 miles or so out into the country outside of Salem. We're a little frustrated that American Home Shield didn't send us a contractor that was a little closer to our home. They sent us someone from Beaverton which is like 90 miles away. There are plenty of contractors in Salem. There's one right here in Stayton that does a great job. There are all kinds of people that they could’ve sent rather than us having to deal constantly with a guy coming from 90 miles away and having to work on his schedule. He's not excited about driving 90 miles to do one little thing.

    When we bought this house a little over three years ago, our real estate agent purchased the first year of the American Home Shield contract. We ended up having a small issue with our garbage disposal. A day before the guy was here to fix the garbage disposal, our microwave went out. While he was fixing the garbage disposal, we casually mentioned to him there was a problem with our microwave. He said, "They'll call us to do that, too. Give them a call and get the contractor.” We gave them a call right on the spot and they assigned the same contractor. On that day, he kind of pulled the microwave out, analyzed it, and figured out what was wrong with it. He said he'd be back in a week when he'd get the part to fix it. As far as them scheduling people to come, I've had several things that went wrong, but normally, within about three days, the people are out to fix the issue. Our recent claim was for a dryer. Submitting a claim over the web was easy for me. However, if something happened and you really need it done quickly, there is no facility for that. It would be great if there was a way to have that. It would be nice if the companies had some sort of emergency service for catastrophes and things like that. I got a callback that day from the servicing company and they scheduled the visit. They could have done it that day, but I was busy so they did it the next day. The company then came out, fixed the problem, and showed me that there were some potential problems.     I like Fick's Mechanical. The guy that did do the work is nice. They had to come back today because there was some leaking. After he did the air conditioner and when I put it on, it started to leak water. I called American Home Shield back on Saturday and it took me 3 hours. It's annoying to wait too long. It gave me the opportunity to call back but I didn't wanna hang up because it takes a long time from the automated system to get to the agent so when you get to the agent, you don't wanna leave because you don't know if they're gonna call you back or not.

    The first time when I called American Home Shield, somebody picked the phone and I don't know if it was cut off by mistake. I had held over an hour. When I called back in the afternoon, they told me it would take 55 minutes. Then it was an hour and a half. Then the voice came back and said my wait time again was another hour. I got to them eventually and once you get to them, they're nice and helpful. To get to them is the problem.

    I called American Home Shield. Home Shield got to us as quick as they could. They gave me the Intertech phone number. However, the company was really busy. It would have been better if they got to us quicker. A gentleman came out and then assessed the situation. The hot water had a leak so they had to replace the hot water heater. And then, once the hot water heater came in, they came out to replace the hot water heater a week later. They did a good job. There was another charge to bring the plumbing up to code. There was almost another $500 which I thought was excessive. It's a lot of money for just a few pieces of plumbing, pipes, labor and whatnot. That was not expected. But other than that, the work they did was good work. Everybody was friendly and helpful. Buy a Home Shield warranty so you won't have any major surprise that will bankrupt you.

    The AC unit stopped running and I called American Home Shield, which I usually do when submitting claims rather than going online. The claims reps are always very friendly and helpful. They get my request in quickly and they let me know who they've chosen. Then, they send me a follow-up email within the hour. Usually, I get a response from whoever they've chosen. We wish we could call the technician from Third Generation all the time. He was older and more knowledgeable, and gave us recommendations on new units or explained all the problems that he was having. He even came back in to fix one more thing that he remembered when he went out into the truck. He didn't leave the property until it was completely done so we were very pleased with them. We enjoyed the service.

    When we bought the house, American Home Shield was part of the homeowner’s warranty but my family and other family members have had AHS and recommended them. We’ve had them since November of 2017 and working with them has been good so far. We haven't had to use them too often but we did on our refrigerator and twice on the air conditioner in the last three years. So that was good.

    Fast Response came out and checked the AC. It was running fine and it ran for a week, then it stopped. Another woman came out and thoroughly cleaned it. It ran for another week or two, and then it stopped. Then, the original gentleman came for the next appointment. We would reset it and it would work for a couple days, then stop. He would have to come back and we would have to reset it. If I reset my Nest thermostat and I do the restart function, it works. They think it's because the Nest is not working so, I was asking him to come back after they get a part in and install a more basic version of a thermostat so that we don't have to worry about it doing that anymore.

    It’s not like an everyday occurrence and Fast Response doesn't have any expertise in the Nest service. That's a completely independent company ran through Google and they were zero help to me when I called them. So, Fast Response did well. I’ve used them for other things. They always are very professional and knowledgeable. They also wore masks and we were distanced. American Home Shield is good. It's a warranty service that goes through a third-party local that does the repairs. It's exactly what I would expect it to be and they’re always nice. I file most of my stuff online and just handle it that way, so I don't have any complaints. I understand what their business model is like. I use it for insuring things and they have prompt attention when something happens.

    The guy that came out from BSR was absolutely terrific. I didn't have any hot water at all in the house, so I called American Home Shield to have my water heater looked at. The guy looked it over and said that the pilot light had gone out. We had had some winds and I had a raccoon visit underneath my house.     I've been a part of American Home Shield for almost 20 years and they have always responded. They've had contractors who have responded in a timely manner and have done good work for us. We've not had a bad experience with American Home Shield. Their website was easy for me to use and I had an instant email that said I would receive a call from the contractor within 24 hours. That usually falls under business hours.

    A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came into my house two different times for two different air conditioners. The first time they came was some time ago and they had to replace a capacitor. On this issue, they called me. I sent the claim in to American Home Shield on a Sunday and they responded almost first thing Monday morning. They had someone come out and check the unit that afternoon. Our compressor was out and they had to get a new compressor. They didn't have one with them. They let me know that American Home Shield would handle the compressor but my responsibility would be the freon. American Home Shield sent me an email letting me know that they covered $10 of pound of freon. Everything seems to be going fine since the contractor last came out. I'm extremely satisfied.

    I called in a claim for my refrigerator to American Home Shield and their prompt gave me a contractor called One Choice. That company never called me even though I called them. I called AHS again and told their rep that they should get me someone. They sent Green's Appliances to handle my claim. The first tech who came didn't have the part needed so he sent another person and they fixed my issue. The problem was the control switch. Since then, my refrigerator has been fine. I also hired Green's to clean off my dryer. So far, AHS has done a good job for me. Sometimes I have to pay for things but still, I don't have to come out of pocket with everything.     The fan went out on the unit outside. I recognized the issue on a Friday afternoon and we put in the call to American Home Shield on a Friday evening. Phil AC came out on Monday, diagnosed it and the repair took place on that Wednesday. They came back with the part and replaced it. The technicians were very good and professional. It was hot but it could have been a lot hotter. We happened to have some rain throughout those five or six days so, the temperature dropped to where we were still able to get some rest at night and used fans and we managed.     My only issue with AHS is that both they and the contracting companies blame each other. For instance, I just purchased a whole new air conditioner and furnace because the people that I would make a claim about my air conditioner and the people who'd come out and service it would blame American Home Shield. They'd say that American Home Shield would have to say that I need a new air conditioner. Then American Home Shield would say that the service provider needs to say that I need this. Either way, both companies are making money off of me and they're blaming the other.

    So the service provider will get $300 to $500 putting refrigerant into my air conditioner. I’ll pay whatever every summer, which I got fed up and just purchased a new system this past summer. I got tired of everybody saying this person has to say this or this person has to say that. That's very frustrating. But I didn't feel like writing a letter. I just felt defeated. While I was weighing out the pros and cons, it seemed like everything else seemed to benefit when I needed assistance with other appliances in my house. Recently, my ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator was leaking. J&J Mechanical came out and the response was quick.

    I got American Home Shield through my neighbor. He's paying $69 a month and they're charging me $89.61. Their folks called me and I told them I have an old house. What they're doing is they're warranting everything that's a built-in and I don't have built-in stuff. I asked them if they do my microwave and they said yes. When I came to do that, I had to buy a microwave and they didn't cover that. Then I had an air conditioner that needed to be worked on. They don't cover that because it's not a built-in. They do refrigerators, stoves and hoods. I had some problems with my lights that they fixed.

    With the cooktop stove, the contractor came and said that the stove was too old. They couldn't get parts for it. It's gonna have to be replaced. The fellow who came over here took a picture of it and said I had to call AHS. I've been trying and trying and trying until finally, just last week I got them. They told me that they had one for $484 and some cents. But it's black and I have stainless steel, so I didn't want it. I told them I was gonna shop around first. I finally got it and ordered one with Lowe's. It's a stainless steel one and it was $786. They told me to email them which I didn't know how to do. I tried to do it with my phone. I took a picture and sent it to them. I don't know if I did that right either.

    American Home Shield is good but with this Coronavirus, I had to wait at times four and a half hours or two hours. Then they never give you the option. Right towards the end, they give me the option for them to call me. As far as that, I was very dissatisfied. I've been trying to do this for about two months now. Every time I give them my contract number, they say, "We're gonna put you on hold and the first available call, we'll get back to you." But they don't. I even threatened that I'm going to call a lawyer. They need to get back in touch with me and let me know what I'm doing or if I'm not doing right or what.

    We have friends who have Home Shield and they were bragging about it. And we thought, “This house is 34 years old, maybe we should do something like that.”

    When the air conditioner did not work, I went online and filled out the service request. I wish I could have elaborated the choices that they have for what was wrong, which included checking the box for “other”, but there was no place to specifically comment or add details. But Home Shield was very good about notifying when the contractor would come out which would be within 24 hours, and it was.

    The problem was the compressor. C and R put it in, which we thought went fine. And then, the same problem happened. We were not getting air. So, it took two more times for them to come out. And then, finally, they realized they installed a defective compressor. So, they had to put in a new one. From there, it was okay. It was just a mistake. We were happy with the service. They should have realized it was a defective compressor sooner than when they did. But they got it worked out and they were very nice people.

    The sinks in both my bathrooms were leaking. I called Home Shield and they said someone will call me. They sent someone out and the contractor didn't know what needed to be done. Then, Amazing Plumbing & Rooter came out and when the tech got downstairs, he said that I had mold underneath my sink. He said that he couldn't check underneath but I was told I didn't have mold. I put an absorbent on the floor underneath the sink in order to absorb the stuff. I don't know if he thought that was mold but it wasn't.

    But everything is working plumbing-wise. They fixed one leak in one of the bathrooms and in the other bathroom, they said they didn't see a leak. This plumbing company wasn’t bad but the plumbing company before them was awful and rude. Also, Home Shield will send someone out that sometimes puts a Band-Aid on the issue. Then, I have to call someone out a month later and pay another fee, which is not cool. People are coming out and they're not sufficiently handling the issue and it's always after the 30 days.

Because if they send somebody out here and I have a problem with them, I call American Home Shield and they always fix it. I tell them that whoever they sent came out here and stuck around for a while, but the thing is what they came out for is still not working. They would send another company out, and they won't charge me twice.

    This time, I had to have two contractors out. There was an issue that had something to do with the toilet and when one came up, they cleared up the toilet for a minute, but they didn't do anything else. I then had to have another one come out to really fix it and it's fine now. I don't know how we'd make it with this house without American Home Shield.     I had a faucet in a garage sink that was leaking. Home Shield sent out a plumber and he said he had to get a different part to fix it. Nothing happened. A few days later, I called and asked when was the guy gonna come back. They said somebody would be out the next day. The next person came and he was here for about 10 minutes and said that it was impossible to fix. He said I needed to move the sink out so they could get to the piping and he left. I crawled under the sink to see what the problem was and I found that I could fix it very easily. I put in a new valve operation. I thought the plumber who came in was disrespectful to me. He lied to me and he thought he could take advantage of an old man. This was about eight months ago.

    I wrote a letter to Home Shield regarding the incident but I never received a response. I called and one person said that they would return my $75 but then I got a letter that said they wouldn't. That one experience was poor. Other than that, in all the years that I've had American Home Shield on a number of properties, including a couple of rentals, everything has been perfect. I had a thermostat claim and it was one of the new smart thermostats. The person from Delta T HVAC who came really understood its technology and discovered that the unit had been installed incorrectly that's why it wasn't working. He was able to change the installation and now, it works perfectly. He was very knowledgeable.

    My washing machine stopped working. I submitted a claim on the website of American Home Shield. The technician that came was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the washing machine was not replaced. AHS offered me $438 for the replacement of the machine. For me, to get a comparable machine, we had to spend more like $700. You can't get a washing machine for $400 unless you're looking at a 4.0 capacity. My machine was a 5.3 capacity. They told me that that was the most they could replace was $434 worth. I didn't get the full replacement cost, so I had to pay the remainder of the difference out of my own pocket to get a comparable machine. I was satisfied with the service that the contractor provided, but not satisfied with the fact that I didn't get replacement cost for a comparable machine.

    I called American Home Shield for an air conditioner that wasn't working. I was so frustrated because they had sent me someone else before and he was rude and disgusting. So I called and said I wanted my money back because American Home Shield is not doing anything for me. A lady told me that they couldn’t give me the money back. She put me on to her supervisor and her supervisor came on and said he would give me back 50%. I said, “No, I want back all of my money ‘cause I made two claims and nothing was done for any of them." I then called Air Climate Solutions at 6 o'clock in the evening and the guy called me back that night. He said he was really busy, but he would try to come by the next day between 7:00 and 9:00 pm. He was able to come out the next day closer to 3:00 pm, and it took him about 20 minutes. I was extremely satisfied. He also took his shoes off before he came in the house and he had a mask on.     The contractor had been out four times to work on the washing machine. It tries to go into the spin mode and it'll start grinding and grinding, and then it might try to spine, and then it stops. Then after a minute or so, it'll start up again and try to spin, and it stops again. It keeps doing that. The tech couldn't seem to figure out what was going on. The last time someone came, he did everything, and it would not go into this awful bad mode. When it would spin, it was working like perfect. He said it was fine and there was nothing wrong. But we've got a video that shows you something is terribly wrong with that machine. It's kinda like an intermittent thing. We washed for a while and it was working, but then it went back to doing this. Now it takes about two hours to wash a load of clothes. But the tech was really nice. His name was Martin and he did what he could. He apologized because he couldn't find anything wrong.

    American Home Shield pretty much has been okay. We're still hanging in there with them. If they get this washing machine issue straight, we’ll really feel better. But right now, I have to come into our house four times at least, and the washing machine is same thing that it did the first time. I don't know what they’re gonna decide. But in my opinion, that washing machine needs to be replaced. The only complaint I have is that when I call them to try to ask for service, I have to wait on that phone line over one hour before somebody picks up, and that's ridiculous. I even got up one night at two o'clock to call them thinking I could get through but I still had to wait an hour.

    The air conditioner wasn't working and it was burning hot in the house. The claim submission this time was weird because two years ago when I had a claim, I called and talked to somebody, and then they said, “Oh, yeah, we'll get you scheduled. How do you want to pay for it?” Then, I gave the rep my credit card number. This time I did it on the computer and before it let me even take it to the next step and found out who was gonna work on it, it stopped me in my tracks and I had to pay first. I paid with my credit card, and then the next step on the computer said that I had been assigned True Master and that I would be contacted within 48 hours.

    True Master did a fantastic job. They were very friendly and they took all the security precautions. They told me that it was the blower motor. He looked at it, and then he said that it was gonna take a few days to order the part. Then they came back a week and a few days later and put the new blower motor in. Then they turned the AC on and it immediately started cooling the house.

    Having American Home Shield is less of a burden. When you have a full time job, the last thing you wanna do is have to find a reputable service person to come in. It's a lot of research if you don't have American Home Shield to find a contractor that's reliable. This way, you know that you're all set if something breaks in the house.

    My AC didn't turn on. It was hot. I submitted a claim with AHS online and the website was easy to navigate. Fleshers Refrigeration came out and they were very good. They fixed my problem. I'm very happy with AHS. Communication is pretty good and the turnaround time when I submitted the claim and the contractors came out was decent.

    There was a leak inside the wall in the master bathroom and the wall between the bathroom and a bedroom. After I submitted the claim, the contractor, Cooper Perry Plumbing, came out the next day. They had to bust up the concrete, repair the leak and fill it back up with concrete. They did a very good job. They wore masks before they even knocked on the door and they respected the social distance. American Home Shield has been very responsive and the coverage has been very good.

    On a Saturday night, I noticed my house getting warmer, and I checked the temperature and it was up to like 85. Then it went up to 90. I put in a claim request to American Home Shield and they gave me the phone number for J J's and I called and left a message. J J's called me early Monday morning and said they would be out between 10 and two. They got here about noon and the tech said the coil was really plugged up with dirt and leaves. He cleaned that out. He was there about a half an hour and it's worked fine ever since. So, it was a good experience.

    When I had an AC issue, All Tech came out and checked things out. They told me what they thought was wrong. We still don't exactly know if there were defective motherboards. The motherboards only worked for two weeks so now they've had to order new ones. They made good recommendations to us and told us to call the electric company and have them check for surges. We did that and then the electric company told us to call an electrician. We did all those things. But All Tech was very good and very professional. They all had masks on when they came and we did too. They did a great job and we're still working with them. Overall, American Home Shield is doing a very good job. They've been very responsive. We had had a number of things happen all at one time. But they've taken very good care of us. I've been so pleased with it. I also bought a plan from my mother-in-law and for each of my two kids.

    Lone Star water services came out for our water heater. We're still waiting on one more part to come in. The relay switch is bad on this new hot water heater they installed and the technician ordered a new one. As soon as it comes in, he'll switch that out. Lone Star water services was pretty good. They were wearing a mask and social distancing.

    However, I've got a million about American Home Shield. It'd be nice if we could pick our own contractors ‘cause I know people in the business and I know they can get to me. One thing I hate is the contractor will say that he'll be there between 12::00 and 6:00. If I get home at 12:00, they're not showing up till 5:55. I hate that window because I always tell them that I get off at 2:30 then I get home at 3:00 and they can come any time after 3:00. I don't care if it’s nine o'clock at night. That fits my schedule. I'd rather them work with my schedule versus me having to work with theirs because I'm at work during the day just like they are. I wish they would work better with a schedule versus their schedule although I can be a little flexible. But I've had to take off two or three times just for the hot water heater issue. I hate taking off here and there for that.

    I kinda regret going with AHS because my out-of-pocket on this hot water heater deal is almost $1,200. They claim that they only cover the hot water heater which is like $300 and something and the installation which is like a couple of hundred dollars. Everything else came out of my our pocket. I don't have a problem paying $100 permit from the city of Fort Worth with the city inspector coming out and inspect it to make sure it’s safe. But I had to pay for all the extra stuff that goes into the hot water heater like the drain pan, the lines that's about covered. The lady told me that if they can't fix it, they’ll replace it. That's very misleading when I pay a monthly payment and I'm still out almost 1,200 bucks out of pocket. I also had a microwave issue back in the day which took the AHS contractor three times to get it right. The third time, they finally fixed it.

    Before the hot water heater incident, I don't have a problem with the contractors coming out if it takes them one or two or three times to get the issue resolved. I'm pretty satisfied with that because these are electronic, we're dealing with. It could be one issue, they got it working, and the next day, it goes out. It’s a different issue. But when it comes to replacing on the hot water heater and the out of pocket, that I was kinda misled on, it was very disappointing. Also when calling AHS, it's a minimum of one hour being on hold before they answer the phone. The other day I was two hours and 28 minutes on hold before I got ahold of somebody.

    As part of the package when I got the house, Home Shield was contracted for the first year. At the end of it, I had one repair and they got the service taken care of. Then I extended the contract. I'm a kind of almost handyman so I take care of most of the stuff. But the few things that I don't, they attended to without any problem. When we had an air conditioning issue, it turned out to be interrelated issues because it's an older unit. Home Shield had no problems sending the technician out. They sent out someone three different times and they did what they found but it turned out to be a deeper issue. A-US Air covered it. They scheduled the appointments within a day of my contact just like they said they would.
