We've had MC2 Appliance before and we've always been pleased with their work and their professionalism. Recently, he came out for a clicking that was going on in the ice maker, which we keep turned off because they're notorious for leaking. I had bought a countertop ice maker that makes smaller ice and makes it better. It makes ice like the restaurant, the Sonic drive-in. Opal is the name of it. He fixed the ice maker and then did not install it back into the freezer at my request because we weren't gonna use it and the ice maker just needed to be reset. It was trying to complete a cycle. Something happened that made it get into this cycle that made it click. So, he just reset it but did not plug it back into the freezer at my request since we had that other ice maker. Everything's working fine now.
The technician was very polite, knowledgeable and took care of the situation in a very expedient and knowledgeable way. I've been pleased with American Home Shield and it seems that the service companies that they use are top quality with their employees, and especially in this hard environment that we're living through today. They're very respectful. I haven't had anyone from any of my claims be hard to deal with.

J-Star Services repaired one faucet and replaced another one. I scheduled the claim on Sunday and I talked to them the next day Monday. There was a little bit of confusion and whether it was covered through the insurance or not. I had to kinda go back and forth between American Home Shield and them. American Home Shield said it was but they were saying it wasn’t so it kinda got delayed. They came out Wednesday versus Tuesday. But they were fine. American Home Shield is kind of an extra insurance. If something breaks, I just have to pay my co-pay. If they send somebody out and that person's not very good or they mess up, I'm assuming that they will take responsibility because they send them out.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

American Home Shield came out and honored their contract. I can understand some reps a lot better than most of those that I talked to because of the accent they use though. I'm 62 years old, and I have a little ringing in my ears. If they don't enunciate and speak good English, I lose it. I don't hear it at all. Other than that, I got my claim started online, and then I got the call that the contractor was coming in. I had them here in a few days and we got a brand new outside unit.
Our AC out there is 30 years old and we'd been here 15 years. We got that compressor by American Home Shield within a year of us getting here and then we were just gonna do the same thing again. Those coils and that whole unit are worn out and doesn't do so much though. For them to put another compressor in would’ve cost me 500 something bucks. Plus, $100 already, so there's 600 and I'm like, “Ouch.” I went through A-US Air and the guy said they got me financed and then it didn't cost me anything to have the new unit put in. We're just gonna have to pay off the loan and we took the 720 that American Home Shield sent us and put that down on it.

I love American Home Shield. I called them to let them know that I wanted to get some locks changed. They set it up for me and were able to get them changed. They sent someone to the house to do it and everything was great. The experience was nice, simple and easy. It's the way I like it.

One of the rooms wasn't cooling so we wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything broken in the attic. The technicians inspected the AC and everything was good. They did some adjustments on the fence and that seemed to help a little bit. It's working now. It was just that one room so, you can feel that it's cooler than it was. I just started with American Home Shield because I just moved into this house three weeks ago but so far, I'm happy with their service. I like the experience because it's very simple. I just go on the website and submit my claim, which makes it nice and easy. I don't even have to talk to anybody from them.

We had a water heater leak and filing a claim for this one was easy. On my latter ones, it was a long hold time. The last two on the AC was plus one hour, which was concerning but this one took 20 minutes. The rep scheduled the appointment right away. We did it in the morning and DFW Plumbing came out two hours later, which was awesome. This company was very professional. They did their job and gave me some recommendations. The service was perfect and I was happy with everything.

We had condensation coming out of our vents. It was dripping water and we thought maybe there was some leak going on, but it ended up being just condensation. The contractor who came was very friendly, very knowledgeable and provided a lot of knowledge. He checked the system for me and did a lot of things that he didn't really have to do, but he just wanted to double-check things. It's been good since then. I love AHS. It's so handy and it's a peace of mind to have it.

I have two air conditioners, one that does the back part of the house with the bedrooms and another one does the kitchen, living room, great room and game room. The one the front part of that house wasn't working at all and the back one wasn't seeming to get the house cool. American Home Shield sent out a repair guy from Quick Response. He was really great. I really recommend that AHS keeps him and use him a lot ‘cause they will have a ton of happy customers. He's super professional but friendly. He did a really good job. He found out that there were a major leakage and some other problems with the front air conditioner and it had to be replaced.
I called AHS that day 'cause I couldn't handle these high heats. There was over a two-hour wait to get a hold of them so I hung up the phone. The wait time is ridiculous. A callback queue would be the ultimate thing for Home Shield and it would really make their customers and vendors happy. But American Home Shield gave the okay in a really timely fashion. I was expecting it to be a month. The technician called me and said that he got the air conditioner and everything. He'd be out there either the next day or the day after that. He did it in a really timely fashion. Also, he had actually worked on this house before on the air conditioning years back because there were notes on the back of the air conditioner when you opened up the stuff and it was his handwriting.
The technician checked the Freon on the back air conditioner and then the thermostat needed a battery in it. He put a battery in and explained to me to keep all the doors open while the air conditioning was going and not to shut down the rooms because it needed to have the airflow. He was really good at explaining how air conditioning was working in our house. We have really high 16-foot ceilings so it works a little bit different in a house that has higher ceilings than a house that doesn't. He came back and replaced the front air conditioner. In the house, he had to do all kinds of work on the blower unit that takes care of all that in the house. It was unbelievable because he literally had to stand on his head to get it done. I was amazed at how great the technician was and how fast AHS was.
American Home Shield is absolutely 1 Million % worth it. You never know what's gonna go wrong with your house. I paid $880 for the warranty and the air conditioner job was actually a couple of thousand dollars. I will never go without having a warranty. They also cover pool pumps and well pumps, which is a huge thing for us. If people knew that the covered those two things, they would buy it just for the peace of mind of not having to worry about it if those two things broke down. It was just an unbelievable and wonderful experience. I've had to fix other things in my house and it has always been a good experience.

I've had claims with AHS where I've had big issues. They've been getting dragged on for months and I'm not happy with that at all. Things take a lot of time with Home Shield and they don't cover a lot. With my AC problem, they only covered 30% instead of the entire problem. Recently, my outside faucet and hose was leaking water. I submitted a request to American Home Shield and they assigned a vendor to me. Within a few days the tech from their contractor J & K Plumbing came and fixed my issue. Everything has been perfect since then.

One night, I came home and I couldn't close my door. So, I had to call the neighbor. My husband passed away last year, and I haven’t have nobody close my door. It was 11:00 at night and it’s stuck. My neighbor came over and closed it. I called American Home Shield and they sent Garage Doors and More out a couple of days later. The dude that came out said that I needed a part for it to close, but they didn’t have it because of the COVID in the mail, so they had to order it. I waited. I called back to ask the lady if she knew when the part was gonna come in because I was having issues with my door. It got stuck again and it won’t open. She said it would be back within a week and someone will come out. Someone came out like she said, and they fixed it. The dude who came out did a good job. He had his mask on, too.

The pump motor that runs the filter for the pool was making a loud noise and then it went out. All American called me the next day after I placed a work order. They came out and troubleshot it. The technician said that it needed a pump. Things have been hard to get due to Coronavirus. So he just said that if he couldn't get here the next day, I should buy some chlorine and keep the fountain running so I could keep the pool going and it wouldn't go stagnant. It was very helpful. Then the technician called me the next day and said that the pump was here. So he came out and fixed everything. They did a great job and I was very happy with them. I had placed a work order with the previous pool company that was doing some work and their guy did a good job, but it wasn't as good as All American.

The previous guy who came for my refrigerator kept saying that he didn't receive the right part from American Home Shield. I kept asking and asking and American Home Shield assigned me a different contractor, Alliance Appliance. A guy came out maybe a month ago for my refrigerator. He checked the part and said he will order it. I called Alliance Appliance three days ago and they said they haven't received the part yet. But they have ordered it and as soon as they receive it, they are gonna give me a call to schedule an appointment. This is for the wrong part for my small Frigidaire that I have in my basement. It's a thermostat.
Alliance Appliance is a good contractor because this is the second time that they serviced me. The first time was three years ago when I didn't have a contract with American Home Shield yet. Their tech fixed a dryer that I have. Their tech came back and he was wearing the mask. He asked if I remembered him and he told me that they fixed my washer. That washer still works. These guys are professional. I told the tech that he was coming because the previous technician couldn't finish the job. I also told him to be extra careful to order the right part. He took photos and this and that. He then called his boss or manager. He seemed very careful to order the right part from American Home Shield.
So far, American Home Shield has been good. But one problem is that when you call, you need to wait one hour on line to get somebody, which can be fixed. If it is a new service request, you just go online and you make it. But many times, the parts don't arrive quickly or they arrive but it is the wrong part. I know that these things happen. But personally, these difficulties are not very important. I have been receiving very good service from AHS and I have been telling all my friends about it. I told them that it's worth the money.
I am a professor and I have a lot of free time. But other people whowork 9:00 to 5:00 and they have a boss on a daily sched. They cannot make a phone call. If you make a phone call for another day, you have to wait for an hour. The low-hanging fruit for improving service is more people answering those phone lines. Somehow they need to fix that one-hour wait because it really affects a lot of people. In theory, American Home Shield assigns someone, they will show up, they're gonna fix the problem, and case closed. But in practice, in probably more than half of the calls, the guy had to come three or four times.
On the whole, I'm happy and I am advertising American Home Shield left and right. I have three contracts with them - two of my rental properties and the house that I'm staying in. I have another condo that I use as an office that I wanted to start a contract. The ZIP code is 44106 and American Home Shield told me that they don't serve that area because they don't have many technicians there, which was surprising because that's Cleveland. They have a lot of technicians in the suburbs but not in the downtown Cleveland.

MJS Plumbing came out and they fixed the drain and the bathtub, which was caused when the contractor took that all apart to fix the leak from the trap in the downstairs bathroom. So all of that was connected. The contractor was good. He knows what he's doing, but it was because of the communication issue with some of the customer service folks. Because I got a call from them yesterday, the faucets are what my issue is, and I don't know what they were doing. I'm really frustrated.
I've been waiting two months for the sheetrock guy. I'm just very disappointed. They kept saying, "Your contractor will connect with you." It's been terrible. I got a text from the sheetrock guy I spoke with yesterday. "I've developed some kind of stomach bug. It looks like I have to reschedule on Wednesday work, same time." I said, "Thank you. I will call for another contractor as I've been waiting over a month and I can't keep retaking off work." He said, "Okay, let me know if I can still help. If I didn't realize you were taking off. I can always come late in the afternoon if that will be better." Then I said, "Okay, afternoon would be much better. I'll wait for you." Then he said, "I'm sorry. I meant afternoon. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling well enough today. Maybe tomorrow." It just goes on and on. But AHS is not saying that when they take that money out of my account every single month.
Then, I'm on the phone anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours just waiting to get through to a rep just to put in a claim, only to get more days and weeks of more runaround until finally, someone comes. But it's not MJS. It's just the communication between the folks at American Home Shield and not fully understanding. They're so quick to put in a work order, but there's already a language barrier because most of them are foreign. So they're not catching everything that I say. I speak proper English, so I know that that's not the case.

The contractors that came for our plumbing issue were great. They called me beforehand to communicate the specific timeframe and then they showed up when they said they would. They did the work and left in a short amount of time, and everything's working fine. They also wore masks. They stood back a bit when talking to me. They were careful about what they touched when they came in. I would go back to them again.
The service of AHS has been good too. We've only had to do two calls, and they were within a week of each other. I found the website incredibly easy to use. I've gotten quick appointment times and it's been really helpful to be able to do everything electronically. We've bought two houses now and each time it's come with an American Home Shield warranty. The first time, we had to use it a couple of times. The second time, we did not and so, we didn't wind up renewing. This year, I decided I would go ahead and renew it and it's been a good decision for us.

There was essentially clog that was filling in the hole in the pipe. H & K Plumbing came out and was right on time. They just punched it. First, it wasn't working, and then they were persistent, and then they resolved the issue. They got a whole bunch of stuff out. When they took it out, the pipe started the leak, and it was leaking from the basement down into the kitchen. I called AHS back to see if that covers a leak. They said no if I couldn't see it. Then I tore down the ceiling. It turns out it's been leaking for a long time. The guy tore it down and then it was like all the joints were moldy and rotten. He took that out. Now, there's nothing in there. Another contractor went and put the floor back. They had masks on. It's just that AHS customer service is not easy to get through to. But the people have been friendly once I've gotten through to them. It's a long wait time or sometimes they call back, but it might be two or three hours.

The control panel for the pool equipment had died for some reason. It wasn't functioning properly so Watertight Pool and Spa came out. They had to order a new control panel to replace the one that wasn't working. When I called to let them know I couldn't program my pool with the new control panel, they ordered one that would be compatible. They had some internal ordering issues and I hadn't heard from them for a couple weeks. I called and after a couple of days, they called back. They came out and brought a new control panel. They explained to me their internal ordering issues and apologized. I was pleased because they admitted the mistake and I got a better piece of equipment out of it.
I was satisfied with the timeframe. I called when I first noticed the problem in early July and they were out within a couple days. When they ordered the first part and brought it back, that was probably three days apart. They came out on a Thursday and brought the new part on Monday. When I couldn't program it, it was probably a total of about three weeks before I finally got it resolved.
We're coming up on a year with American Home Shield and the first nine months of having the service, I wasn't really satisfied. I would call on various items and it seemed like whenever technicians came regardless of the problem, it was like they tried to figure out the least amount of work to do. They couldn't track down a problem and I didn't feel satisfied on most calls.
I had one specific incident where the spotlight wasn't working in the pool. I called and the contractor came out. They said, "We don't deal with stuff under the water." They couldn't troubleshoot the pool light. Eventually, I called a pool control guy locally on my own. He said I needed to call a master electrician which I did. They came out and ended up tracing the problem back to the whole breaker box. They pulled it to change it. At that point, American Home Shield said, "We can't cover any of that because our technician wasn't on site when you put the breaker box in." There would've been no way to get their technician on site because their technician would've never troubleshot the spotlight in the first place. I was kinda stuck in this loop where I ended up coming out of pocket 5,000 bucks.
But with this pool control panel and with the recent air conditioning issue, both companies were thorough. The repairs required were pretty expensive and it's kinda like the warranty paid for itself. For the past couple months, we've been pleased with American Home Shield. I would advise most people to get a home warranty and I would recommend American Home Shield. I would advise them what they're getting into and if they got a pool, I would definitely tell them to get a pool warranty as well.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

The only problem I have with American Home Shield is the fact that it's hard to get ahold of their operators. I spent almost an hour on the phone trying to talk to someone about the issue on my plumbing not being resolved. I do most of my claims online. I have no problem with that. I get that through and they're very quick in responding to that. But if I have a problem with the repair people that have come out and then trying to get back to talk to someone to get it continued, that’s what the problem is and that's what I don’t like.
But the service contractors that have come out have been good. I just had one. I had a plumbing issue where I had the repair person come out. We thought the problem was resolved, but it wasn't so they had to come back out again. So that's happened to me a couple of times with some of the various service people that they have. Service, so far, has been pretty good. I don't have anything against operators being in foreign countries, but it'd be great if they had some here you could talk to. That will make things a little bit better. Plus it creates jobs for American people. But other than that, I’m somewhat pleased.

The guy was easygoing and told us what happened. He was professional. We were without AC for four days so it was a huge relief.
When we first got AHS, the previous homeowners had left their refrigerator. The door handle just completely came off and it was a struggle. Whoever the contractors were that came out, they tried saying my daughter was the one that broke the freezer handle and she was 20 pounds at the time. So I had to argue with them and whoever the lady was that I spoke to through American Home Shield, she was like, "That's ridiculous. That's nonsense.” She really helped me through that claim and she was the one that got it approved. Thankfully, she did because our freezer wouldn't open. So we basically got our money's worth that first claim that we made for the year with our home warranty. It helped a lot.

Called AHS immediately after situation only to wait on hold for AN HOUR AND HALF to be hung up on then called back and another 1 hour 43 minutes hold to see WHEN someone will be out (after the $100 fee they require first). The guy has no idea when someone will be out. I explained to the representative this is an emergency and we cannot use any facilities in the house. He then puts me on hold to check status. 18 minutes later hangs up!!.
I call back again and this time 1 hour and 45 minutes to get NO WHERE!. Call them again first thing in the morning to start the WHOLE process over again... and finally get a human on the phone. She will try to expedite the service request. Put on HOLD again...She then tells me dispatch will be calling me....I ask her a few times really will they call or is this just lip service. She assures me they will call. Guess what? I get a call and dispatch wants to know the situation. I explain it to them and they will try to find a contractor and she will call me back.
An hour later she calls back stating they found one and I asked her, "WILL THEY COME OUT TODAY?", yes they will be calling me....GREAT NEWS right? Wrong....wait 2 hours. No call so I decide to call the contractor myself to see when he will show up....He does not even know about today. "He said, Well maybe I can come TUESDAY...Nope. Sorry. Tuesday will not work." Septic/ sewer is backed up! "Well we are closed and I am not sure why AHS said I will come today...."OMG are you kidding me.....So call back AHS AGAIN I guess what. On hold.....The only AHS is good for is collecting money and that is IT....Do NOT waste your time with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD.
Hi Kevin,

I call to submit my claims with American Home Shield. Sometimes, it could be hard but sometimes, you can get through. I had a claim for an electric issue, and they sent Palmer Electric out. The first guy did not solve the issue, but the second guy did. American Home Shield needs to work out a couple of bugs, but overall, they’re pretty good.

My faucet was leaking and Home Shield sent the same guy out about three times and he didn't fix it. And every time I requested somebody else to come out, they wouldn't send anybody else. The tech had to come so many times before they realized that he didn't know what he was doing. I had to turn my faucet off from underneath and all that. It was resolved when Home Shield sent someone else. Also, I had a problem with a leak under my house and Home Shield refused to pay the claim because of something I said at the beginning, which I didn't know what was going on. I was very unhappy with them. I almost changed at that time.
I wish we could have our choice of contractors. And I pay $66 a month but still, every time a contractor comes out, it's 75. I'm still considering going to another home warranty company because of that. I don't think I should have to pay close to the amount I pay every month for a contractor and they've been going up every year.

Our hot water tank leaked, cracked, and broke. I notified American Home Shield through the website. Their website is quick and easy to navigate. It worked out really well and pretty quickly. The contractor from Tri County Plumbing is one of the best ones I've ever worked with. He was excellent. Everything has been good since they came out. It's pretty tough without a hot water tank. So the repair was crucially important.

We had a toilet leak. It kept running. There was a noise coming. I had four toilets with similar issues, two were making noise, two were leaking. So when I tried to submit it online at AHS, it gave me an option of a maximum of three. So, when the guy came in, I showed him all four and they called American Home Shield back and got it approved that it was not three, it was four.
This guy came in and said, "We'll have to call the American Home Shield and we will call you back next day or whenever we're ready, whenever we have parts," and then he just disappeared. He never came back. I asked him, "Can you please fix it now because it's been running?" I got the appointment late. When I called, they came out in four days. So, I didn't want to wait anymore. But then, he disappeared. When they came and my husband was leaving, and he was parked on the driveway. So my husband said, "Can you please park your truck on the road?" Then he had to go back and park his truck on the road. Maybe he didn't like that.
I was dissatisfied. They could've done something, but they did not. Another company called me the next day that, "We want to schedule an appointment to fix your toilet." They came and they fixed it right away. This has happened before. The contractors came and they just needed to replace that and tighten something from the inside. But, I didn't like their attitude.

So the contractor walked me through everything and showed me exactly what I needed to do so we never had the issue again. I had a problem with American Home Shield, but it wasn't for that. It was for my AC. But overall, I'm satisfied with AHS, but dissatisfied with the subcontractors.

I had to call to submit the claim and it seems like every time I call them, I'm on hold for at least an hour. When the contractor came out to inspect the AC, they were cautious and used the things to put on their feet. But they were unable to make the repair. They explained what needed it be done and gave me an estimate of what it would cost. Whenever I have to call American Home Shield out, t's always something like a sales or something has to be sold to me. It's not like the technicians can come out and fix it and it's covered under American Home Shield. It's an additional cost that they have to sell me and that's with any of the technicians.

My washer wasn't draining the water after the cycle. All In One Appliance Repair came out and replaced the pump and everything was all good after that. The claims process through American Home Shield was pretty simple, especially now you can just file the claim online. The guys from All In One Appliance were concerned on the questionnaire online that it didn't say whether or not my washer was on a stand or not. That dictates how many people they’ll need to send out on the job. The guy came one day and he was by himself and realized my washer was not on a stand. He questioned me about that as far as when I applied for the service, did it have a question on there whether or not it was on a stand or not. I told him there wasn't. So he said that they had requested that American Home Shield put that on their application and, apparently, they didn't do it. He said he had to request they do it again.
I thought I had an issue with my air conditioning unit because it was leaking inside the closet. I had a guy come out. When he showed up, all he did was remove some debris outside around the drainage pipe and the water started to drain. Had I known that was the issue, then I could have done that myself, but I still had to pay $100 for the deductible. I understand it’s a business and that's pretty standard, but it seems that in some jobs it should consider how big the job is before committing to the deductible. Other than that, I've had several items replaced since I've been here and I'm very satisfied.

First, the contractor couldn't figure out what was wrong with the AC so they told me I needed to replace a breaker that I didn't need to. I replaced that. Then they came out and couldn't figure it out so I told them what the issue was with the air conditioner. They said that they'd order what I told them to order. Then they told me that they wanted to put on new Freon in the system when it has Freon.
Originally, he was gonna charge me $350 for the Freon. They're required by the EPA to reclaim it, and I would assume he's just taking the Freon and using it on the next job and charging people for it because he was pretty adamant that we had to change it. They make a lot of money off of American Home Shield and all the customers they service by putting Freon in when the people don't need it. After I explained to him that I'm a contractor and I talked to the manufacturer and I talked to everybody that I don't have to put that, he said that they’ll reuse it. They put the Freon in and the guy that was changing it didn't know what he was doing and let a whole bunch of it into the atmosphere so it didn't have enough Freon. We went a whole another day without air conditioning until they came out and put my Freon into it. We got air conditioning, but it was quite a process to get there.

Somebody told me about this wonderful company called American Home Shield and they kept pushing me until I finally decided to give them a call. I never had any issues but once I start paying them, then things will start happening. Overall, the service with American Home Shield is good but I'm gonna have to get used to putting my request in online. I did it online one time and it was a total disaster, which is why I don't do it that way. I didn't make things clear and I had to pay a fee again because of the way I worded it. So I prefer to call in but sometimes there's a long wait period to call in a work order.
The claim with Hers and His Plumbing went fast. I submitted it to American Home Shield one day and I got a phone call that said the contractor was coming the same day. That one was a quick turnaround. The guy was nice and gave out a lot information. He fixed the issue, he assessed the damage or whatever was going on with my plumbing, and he took care of it. He was in and out. I had to call back a day after that because I discovered that the kitchen sink was still leaking underneath. But they came back and I haven't had a problem since. The technician had on a mask and he even tried to wear the little protective shoes but I have hardwood floors and he didn’t have to do that. My AC is also not working and I'm burning up at home. It just went out yesterday, so I called last night. When I got home, it was 87 degrees in my house and now, it's 97. But someone's coming out tomorrow.
Having AHS is a great benefit, especially this last one with my plumbing issues. I wasn't even sure if that part was covered so, I reached out to another company to have them to come in and take a look at it. The guy came in and he said it'd be $400 to fix my issues. I told him that I would check on something see if it would qualify. He said that I couldn’t have any any insurance that's gonna cover plumbing. I said he was probably right but I'm gonna call just to be sure before I give him my $400. I called AHS and they said it was covered. So, I was glad to have it because the plumbing issue was gonna be huge. I thought I had it for my fence though because I had some fence damage but they assured me they don't cover things like that, so that was fine.

The first guy that came out did partial repair on the outside unit. There was a bunch of leaves and debris on the coil outside. He cleaned that off and told me that he checked the freon and it was fine. But when I called him about an hour or so later and told him it still was not cooling, he said to give it another hour and call him back. It never cooled. The second guy that came out said it was low on freon that was why the coil was leaking. I told him the first guy that was out here said he checked the pressure and everything was fine but apparently that wasn't the case.
We've been without an AC for three weeks and this time, they finally did repair the AC. I was happy that it was finally working. It's nothing major but inside the closet where the unit is, they left a little mess. Also, the hold time was unacceptable. There were a couple of times that I was on hold for over an hour. Trying to get answers and trying to find out where the part was added to the frustration with it not being repaired quickly.
Besides being on hold forever, it looks like the phones are transferred over somewhere else. There was one time that I was connected to some lady that spoke very bad English. It was hard to understand her. When she was trying to give me some answers back when I was trying to find out what was taking so long, she had a hard time communicating and put me on hold. After I was on hold for a while, the line conveniently dropped. Altogether, it was a pretty bad experience. But I've dealt with American Home Shield before on other issues in the house, and I had not had any problems.

When the whole air conditioner went out, we took the buyout and went through American Home Shield to have it replaced. They weren't quite as perfect but it got fixed in the end. The next issue was when some part went off on the other air conditioner and they were able to diagnose it and fix it on the spot that day they came. They were very professional about it. But he knew what he was doing and fixed the problem in short order, and it's working fine.
We have tankless hot water heaters on the outside of our house on two sides. Three years ago, one of them quit working. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out. The man looked at it and the one that came out to repair it said, "I've never seen one of those before." They sent a total of three people out and none of them could fix it because it was broken. I had to hire somebody to put a new one in at my expense. That was a horrible experience with American Home Shield. But most of our experiences have been good or we would’ve canceled it. It gets more expensive every year but it's still important to have insurance like that. Most of the contractors they've sent out have been okay. Some were not so good and one of them was terrible. My AC wouldn't blow out cold air and wouldn't work at all. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and a guy from May Heating and Air came to do service. AHS doesn't take long to send their contractors out. They were gonna send someone else out initially and I told them that contractor would take too long and that they should find me someone else who could come out earlier. The tech from May Heating was nice and professional and he was able to fix things that same day.

With American Home Shield, I go online when I have an issue and ask for a service request. Someone then calls me and there are a couple of contacts a long the way to make sure things are moving along smoothly. My thermostat was shorting out and there was a part in my air conditioning that burned out. I filed a request to American Home Shield and they sent a contractor called Beaches Air Conditioning. The tech from there was very nice and knowledgeable. He replaced my thermostat and we thought that would fix my issues. But then, the next day, the temperature at my house was going up again. It was at 77 and not at 72 like it was supposed to be. We called the guy from Beaches Air back and he was pretty quick about doing that.
There was a part in my air conditioning unit that had burned out as well as other things that were directional and determined where the air goes inside the house. The tech fixed one problem first and came back to fix the others. I've never had a home warranty so I'm glad that AHS is trying to fix my unit instead of replacing it with something that breaks fairly quickly. I'm pleased with the service of AHS and of Beaches Air.

American Home Shield is very prompt and easy to work with. I did a claim online through the web app and it was simple. We had something wrong with the oven and they sent someone out as quick as possible. The contractor showed up on time, fixed the issue and even called us back to make sure it was still working okay. They were great.

I had to fix my pool and it was 2,500 and then the heater was $2,500. I decided that it's better to have a warranty for everything in the house, but then I try not to go through the warranty company, sometimes. I had an air conditioning thermostat issue and I paid out of my pocket because this is a brand new AC. In the past, I had a bad experience with other companies, but I don't wanna go all the way every time with a home warranty.
I live in Upland, and I have a multiple properties, including in places like Utah and Aliso Viejo. I have a management company handling two of them. For claims, I call sometimes online. For a rental property, I told my tenant to call the warranty company and do the appointment on my behalf because I don't know her schedule. I gave her everything.
I have Choice as well as American Home Shield and I pay for multiple properties a month. I had an electrical issue and then a dishwasher issue one time in the beginning of April. Something was stuck to my three-year-old dishwasher and the contractor cleaned it and flushed it. The guy was nice, but I have to have a couple more experiences, and then I can tell my friends they can try American Home Shield.

I submitted a request to American Home Shield for a property I'm managing. It was to have a hole in the ceiling underneath the bathtub repaired. I don't have access through their online resource to report a claim or follow up on one because I can't give AHS the information they need. So, I have to phone the claim in. When I make calls to AHS, I have to go on hold for an hour to get anybody to answer and it's horrible. Still, once I get AHS on the phone, I really like them as they're efficient.
Home Shield told me that they assigned a contractor to fix the hole in the ceiling but nothing ever happened. I reported it again and I got a follow-up from the contractor. Recently, I've had better experiences with AHS but before, I've had horrible ones. AHS band-aids everything 50 times before they replace anything. With a tenant-occupied property like what I'm handling, I spend all of my time trying to get their contractors back out to fix something again. I had a tenant waiting as much as a week to two weeks without heating and air or without a refrigerator. I've had to rent a refrigerator with my own money to put in a unit because AHS did not get out for over a week.
Overall, I don't like American Home Shield's program or their vendors. They're so stacked up and busy. Plus they're not making enough money so they are not motivated to get out quickly enough. The last thing I would ever do is recommend one of my rental property owners to have this home warranty. I know what kind of pain the tenants would go through trying to get something fixed.
We understand your concerns regarding the delay to have the issues repaired. I would be glad to speak with you to reach a resolution.

I've been with American Home Shield before and I changed debit cards. I never thought the service had been canceled. This time, I've had them for a year and a half. Recently, I filed a claim for a clogged mainline and Discount Contractors did a great job. They came in about 3 days after I filed the claim and it took them 30 minutes to repair it. The guy knew what to do. The only thing I needed to do was give them access to power. However, they were supposed to give me a quote for the estimated repairs that they recommended but I never received it.

When we call, we usually get a technician the next day. It has been prompt. The man from Myers that first came out thought he fixed it. Water was coming out the bottom of the part of the AC inside the house and it made a funny noise. The tech took it apart and cleaned it out, and found gunk inside that might have been making the noise, because it has not made the noise since.
The tech flushed out the line that he thought might have been clogged up, and said that could have been causing the water. But he said it also could be a crack in the pan, and he wasn't sure. He said, "Just watch this and if it continues, it's a crack in the pan." It did continue. We're having the pan replaced now. His first attempt without going straight to the big repair, to hope it was just a clean out job, was good. We had a plumbing problem before this ac problem and my husband forgot that we should go through Home Shield. We called a plumber of our own and he did a terrible job. He recommended Roto-Rooter and that was ridiculous. And then we remembered Home Shield and they sent a plumber who fixed it.

American Home Shield continuously goes up in price every year. I understand inflation but then when I came in, I got a deal and I've gotten shafted after that. The only way I can change the price is if I change how many things I want serviced. I like the amount of things that AHS services. I also like that they usually get back to me pretty quickly.
Customers get better service though if they go online. Older people don't like to do things online. Instead, they like to call and talk. AHS doesn't afford older people that because the wait is incredibly long. Usually, I just leave the phone when I'm doing something and wait for somebody to start talking. Most recently, I've done that because I have a contractor that cannot come to my house. Usually, I can't pick contractors with AHS but I like to let them know not to send that contractor to me. They have that written in my record and they have been complying with that.
The last contractor who came to my house was a plumber with whom I was absolutely upset. That plumber had a 1 rating and I wanted to know why AHS was sending someone to my house that had a rating of one. He didn't know what he was talking about. But, my issue wasn't so much that but the way he and his so-called boss was talking to me. I was offended so I talked to AHS and told them that if those were the kinds of contractors that they keep, then I do not want their services. They did not refund me but said that for my next call, they would eliminate my $75 fee.
AHS has been accommodating when I'm not happy. Most recently, I've been dealing with their contractor called West End and they have been wonderful, courteous and kind. They get to the problem and get back to me as quickly as they can. They have sent a dishwasher tech and a dryer tech before and I had no problems. With AHS, I've been satisfied except for some encounters where I really wasn't.

One of the AC units that we had was not blowing cold air. Optimo Air and Heat called within a couple of hours and we got something scheduled for the next day. They came out and checked the issue. They identified what was going on and they fixed it. A couple of days after, I noticed that there was water leaking from that very same unit. I submitted another claim and the same Optimo Air folks came out and identified the issue. They were able to kinda clean the unit so that it wouldn't leak water anymore. I was pretty satisfied with the way that they came and handled it.
One thing that I found a little annoying was because I had two AC units, it made it seem like I had to submit a separate claim to get them both checked out. At least that's the perspective that I got from Optimo as they came out, that it wasn't a service check on both AC units because I only had a quantity of one on my claim that they were only contracted to look at one AC unit. That was not very clear. In fact, adding a quantity of two puts another 75 bucks for a service call, when in reality, they just came out once.
Understanding the coverages like what systems are covered and what systems aren't is pretty important to make sure that you're getting the value. Between the $60 service call to get them out and then whatever repair that they actually did on the system, I still don't think that I'm quite at the value for the years’ worth of warranty, but we're not too far off.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and thanks for you patience with us as we went through the process to resolve your issue. Let us know if you need us, we're here.

For my pool problem, American Home Shield sent out Sutherland. They kept coming out because the furnace kept going out. And every time they would come out, it was the same thing. Come to find out the last time they came out that the whole unit needed to be replaced because it had rotted on the inside. It had rusted out. There were so many hazards. For one, there was a carbon monoxide leak.
Sutherland came in and they installed the furnace. They then were like, "We're done." They were getting ready to leave and were on their way out the door. I asked if it was working and if I could turn my pool on. They said I needed to get somebody to install the gas line since they didn't do that. I was like, "Okay, so why didn't y'all tell me that? If I would've let y'all go, I wouldn't have known that." I was without a pool for four months. It's a heated pool so I can swim all year round. It was on the fourth month when I got everything done and going.
Also, they were horrible because I would call them and when I talked to them, they said would get back to me. I would call and call and they wouldn't answer, so I called a private number and they answered. It was like they knew my number and they were avoiding me. But they weren't doing what they were supposed to do. They lied to me too because I called American Home Shield and the rep gave me a confirmation number. She said, "Give this to them if you have any problems." But I told her that every time I called, I was getting redirected back to American Home Shield because Sutherland hasn't heard from them. She told me to write down the confirmation number and to keep it. I did that.
When I called Sutherland they said they haven't talked to anyone. I said that was not true and that I had the confirmation number. The person told me to give it to her and she said they had that. I asked if they had the okay to go ahead and repair the furnace but she said no because they haven't talked to anyone. I told her that I just got off the phone with someone and they said they talked to Sutherland two days ago. She said, "Well, okay. Well, what do you want me to do?" I wanted them to do their job and get my pool going.

I had a clogged line that Integrity Air Conditioning Service unclogged. Then, they made two trips out because the lines on my air conditioning keep freezing up on me on the outside and they can't seem to figure out what was wrong. They told me I needed coil cleaning. I can't afford that, so I told them I can't do that right now because they want $700 for it. I told them I got a guy in a church that does air conditioning. He'll probably do it for me at a reasonable rate.
I've been doing my claims with American Home Shield on my phone. It's pretty easy. As far as my AC claim, they sent me a thing telling me that Integrity would contact me. They were very punctual. I'm still not happy because my air conditioning is still acting up. When Mike came out the first time, he said, "The coils are dirty, but not dirty enough to cause what's happening." It was like on 81 last night when I went to bed again, so I had to shut it off for four hours and wait for it to thaw out.
Integrity said they're not coming back out now because I won't get the coils cleaned. I'm like, "They're not that bad. Even the guy himself said it." I cannot afford $700 to clean coils. I have a handicapped wife at home that's disabled, and there's lots of her insurance won't cover that I have to buy for her. When a neighbor of mine was telling me about American Home Shield, I'm said, "Awesome. I'll get that just in case I have any problems with my AC, I know I can get it fixed." That way, she'll be able to use it when she needs it when I'm not home. But now, Integrity's telling me they're not gonna come out any more.
AHS does not cover coil cleaning at all. I'm like, "Well, that's part of the air conditioning unit." And I'm paying good money for this plan. I recorded their commercial on TV, so I keep it on my phone. If I have it on there, it's a legal document. On the commercial, when it shows a person air conditioning going, they said no matter how old or how aged, if they can't fix or find the parts for it, they will replace it. Integrity's been out here four times, and they travel 90 miles to come to my house because they're not local.
Now, every time the air goes out, my wife has to suffer and sweat. Then she has gotten a breathing machine. I had to call her to tell her what's going on. I told the guy, "I work full-time, but I still can't afford that kind of money." I have a mortgage payment. I was hoping American Home Shield would stand behind it and just replace the thing and get it over with it so they don't have to keep wasting money sending people out and fixing the same problem seven or eight times, a the technician says he doesn't know what's wrong.
I would recommend American Home Shield to my friends because they've taken care of me so far. I haven't had to pay anything. So far, since I've called, they send people out. So, that part of American Home Shield is good. I just haven't been able to talk to a person each time because everything has to be done online. Usually, I like to call and talk to a person and explain what's going on.

It just started holding up again this morning. I'm gonna have to call them again, but they've been really good to come out and do what we needed. He replaced the eye on the range top and it's working good too. The service of AHS has been good. They've responded fast whenever I call them. It was written in that the buyer provided us with a year home warranty, and then we decided to continue it. It's an older home and we were just concerned. We wanted to make sure everything kept working. If it didn't, that we had something to fall back on.
However, the people that they use, Asurion, for the electronics, we had a TV go bad, and if it was gonna cost a regular $75 for the service call. Then, they had us try a couple of things and it didn't work. Instead of coming out and taking care of it, they were gonna send us a box, we had to box it up and send it in. Then, they were going to look it over and decide if they could fix it or if they would even replace it. So, we just decided that was more trouble than what we need to go through and probably more money, so we just bought another one.

Veteran Heating & Air Conditioning's technician was phenomenal. I recommend him highly. I was very fortunate to get a great repairman, and who has been with Home Shield for a long time. However, the process is not the best process. Where we live, they don't have any air conditioning and heating companies signed up with Home Shield. So, somebody had to come from another town. I wasn't given the option to be able to call my own people. I even asked to speak to a supervisor and I never got a supervisor to this day.
I couldn't call anybody local. I saw on Home Shield's website that that can be done, but I couldn't get a supervisor or anybody to tell me how to get that authorized. Say if my AC wasn't working properly and I call a local company, the guy comes out, assesses the situation and he determines what is wrong, and either he fixes it right on the spot with the part he has on the truck or he goes to town and comes right back. That's not the way it works with Home Shield. The technician has to come out and determine what's wrong, and then he has to get authorization to fix it, and he comes out another time to fix the problem. He can't get the problem fixed in the same day the repairman comes out. So, here we are, 100-degree weather. The process that the repairmen have to go through in the customer is really not customer-friendly. We're going to stay with Home Shield because we need the service.

American Home Shield sent Mountain Appliance Services to service the washer and dryer. The dryer was running, and the clothes were extremely dry and hot. And it continued to run, so the timer wasn’t working. The washing machine gets lint on all of my black clothes, and that's really not been resolved. As far as submitting the claim to AHS, I went on my computer and looked for their information, and I contacted them. Their website was very user-friendly. They gave me a timeframe that someone would be contacting me and someone did contact me within that time.
The guy from Mountain Appliance Services was fine. He asked to use my white vinegar and something else. I was surprised he didn't have the stuff that he would need knowing what he was coming to service himself. He said that we'd have to take the housing out and run it with really hot water after he ran one cycle with the white vinegar and that should resolve the problem. The washer is only a year old and I've never had a washer that leaves so much lint behind on the clothes. I run them through the dryer thinking that's going to take the lint off, but it doesn't.

The gentleman that came out for the dryer was very nice. However, he came a little longer than I hoped for and carrying my wet laundry down the street to the neighbor's house wasn't very pleasant. He replaced the part that he thought was the issue but he still couldn't get the dryer to turn on so he called. He was on the phone with his boss and they discussed it. They decided it had to be the motor so they replaced it. It still wasn't acting right so they replaced the circuit board. The guy was very lovely and got the dryer to work. In the end, that's all that mattered.
I have an open claim right now. Last week Thursday morning, my husband went downstairs to put some stuff in the freezer. It's down in the utility room where the hot water heater is. He looked down and there was water on the floor. It was not coming from the hot water heater. We realized that the pipe coming into the house from the outside faucet was leaking. The drywall was wet too. We got the outside water shut off. We got fans sitting there. I was on hold with American Home Shield for an hour before they answered the phone. I finally got the claim in and they assigned somebody. I said, “Is there anybody that we know that is immediately available? What do I have to do to get somebody out here today?” But the lady was of absolutely no help. If it weren’t for the warranty and I had to call somebody, I’d had somebody out there that day.
I got on the phone and called the company that they assigned it to. Nobody answered the phone. I finally got somebody to call me back. They said they were swamped. They were putting in six hot water heaters and were doing this and that. But she was a very nice lady. She finally called me back Saturday morning and said she could get somebody here this morning between 8:00 and 10:00. I got a text last night from the guy saying he's got an emergency and couldn't come until tomorrow between 8:00 and 10:00.
I figured I’m stuck. They’re not doing anything. When I talked to the lady, she said I could call American Home Shield back and see if they could get me somebody that's got more availability. She said American Home Shield said that this company that they assigned me to was the only one available in the area that could come out here and work on this. The water heater is 14 years old. Even though the thing is about to go, American Home Shield won't do a repair now as opposed to waiting till everything floods and breaks my house.
I’ve had American Home Shield for quite a few years now and this is the second time where I've been annoyed and considered looking for a different company. The first time was when my washing machine went. We waited and waited and waited. The guy that came out here said, “You can't get this part anymore.” American Home Shield kept me waiting for a month for a part with no washing machine. They finally gave in and said it had been backordered for so long, it was not available, and I could have a new washing machine. Finally, after waiting almost a month and not being able to do laundry, I got a washing machine.
I talked to my neighbor into buying American Home Shield's service ‘cause I had such good luck with them for the most part. She’s got a very high dollar swamp type cooler. She did the claim the first part of last week and the claim got assigned to somebody. That company’s supposed to call her but as of yesterday, they still hadn't.

The blower stopped working on the air conditioner. We could hear the air conditioner clicking on, but the blower wasn't activating. The technician that came out was great. Everything's working fine now. I liked American Home Shield this time. The last repair I had, I hated American Home Shield. I have a mini-split unit. I had three people come out before, finally, the third company started substituting parts. So, they replaced the mainboard inside the exterior unit, and then they replaced the main board on the interior unit and they still couldn't get it to work right. They kept complaining that there was no shutoff. I didn't install the unit. I didn't know where the shutoff is. But a couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning in my office and I followed the conduit exactly 18 inches to the wall where there's a shutoff. It was like the guy didn't even look.
Then the worst thing was after they decided that they couldn't fix it and that they wanted me to replace it, they wanted to replace it with some air conditioner that did not have a good noise rating and they wanted to install it on a different wall, which was not gonna work. I'm in a recording studio in my home, so I have to have a super quiet air conditioner.
This company refused to do the work until they put a cut-off switch in, which now I find out it's already there. If he would've turned one foot to his side, he would've seen the cut-off was there. So, to make matters worse, when they concluded the job, they concluded it by walking off. They left my outside unit open. They didn't bother to close it up, so I had to go out and put the screws in so that if it rained, water wouldn't go into all of the electrical components. So, I was not happy with them.
It still hasn't been fixed. Because we're in air conditioning high season right now in Arizona, I just have the office door open and a fan blowing from the rest of the house to cool the room because it's just not a time to get the air conditioning worked on. When this is all over, I will call certified Fujitsu Air Conditioning persons who'll come out here and figure out what the problem is, because these guys do not understand Fujitsu mini-splits. If they had understood it, they wouldn't have been throwing a bunch of money at replacing parts that weren't the problem.
I had a previous claim for a refrigerator problem. The contractors came out and fixed it right away. I had a repair on my dishwasher. They fixed that right away. So, in general, I'm happy with AHS, with the one huge exception of this mini-split unit. Now that I read the policy and the terms of the mini-split that says, "We're not obligated to replace it with a similar-sized unit," I have a really unique installation in my home studio, so I can't replace it with something that's not the same size.

My oven wasn't working right. When you turn it on, you have to keep turning it off, and then turn it back on and off. It would go off, and then you turn it back on and off. The technician from Mojack had to do several things to determine the issue and he had to order two different parts. He replaced the part that was showing as the bad part and then, it still wasn't working right. So, he tried one more thing and when he did that, it kicked in and I haven't had any more problems. I told him he’s a genius. He did an excellent job.

The rep said the gentleman from there would call me when he is 30 minutes away from my rental property. Since he came, the furnace has been functioning well. I've been with AHS for a while now and I've always been pleased with what they do.

One time, our air conditioner wasn’t cooling and living in Florida, we need the AC. Without American Home Shield, we wouldn't have been able to afford getting it fixed. Getting it fixed was a tremendous help. I filed the claim online and it was user-friendly. A technician then came and he was friendly and knowledgeable. The air conditioner has been great since the repair.

Submitting claims through American Home Shield is easy. The only thing is I had ceiling fans out but the website only lets you put one, so I had to call them to ask them. They were nice about it. If you have a plumbing in the bathroom and a plumbing in the kitchen, you can't put that down when you just go online. You have to call them and let them know. It'd be easier if they would allow you. I'm assuming payment-wise, every time you call them one time, then they take the payment out. But if it's two or three problems, I try to do it under one payment if I could. Other than that, they helped me.

I've let American Home Shield know that I ended up hiring my own plumber and he fixed the problem in under 60 minutes while it took Plumbers Inc. and American Home Shield almost three weeks to not even get a resolution. The reps from Plumbing Pro Services were nice and I liked them. But I never could get them to call me back after the incident. there was a calcium buildup that clogged the pipes and I already had someone fool with it, and it came undone. I thought they were gonna have to cut a hole in the wall and do all this stuff. They were fast and quick or there was really nothing that they could do. The problem was solved and he made sure it was all clear. He let it run for a while but that afternoon when they left, I started thinking all these questions. I asked them to call me back and they never returned my call. Then I even woke up the next morning at 7:00 because it sounds like they get all their schedules and get out on their run. And I never got a call back.
I just wanted to know if there was something I could run through my pipes to prevent that again and what he would suggest for a calcium buildup like that. Even to this day, if you called, nobody answers anymore. I have left a couple of messages and never got a return call. That was the first time I've ever used American Home Shield.
When submitting claims, you can go online and tell your problem but it needs to have a place where you can explain it. Then, I had questions because someone else had looked at it. So, I wanted to know if this was correct. Also, it says that I would have to pay for it. I didn’t want to be charged $125 and then I didn't even need them to come out, then I got to worry about getting the money back. So, I didn’t like that part. AHS could fix that part of the process. The only way I got to talk to a person through American Home Shield was to go back and act to be a new customer, and sign up. The lady told me to go ahead and fill it out. It would not charge me till I call. So, they would call first, which they did, but I didn’t know that. The rep was very nice. She was in that department getting new customers but she helped me out.

The Plumbing Company came out for my water heater. It was all corroded and they told me it was very dangerous. It had a hole in it and they said it could've exploded or something. It took the tech all day to do the repair because the top of the water heater that was sent out was the wrong top. He had to get another one. He was here most of the day trying to get it in but he handled the job. Also, he was very nice and polite. Then, another guy had to bring in another part because stuff just wasn't right with that machine. The water heater has been doing its job, although sometimes the water doesn't get as hot as it should.
But I'm a little ticked off at Home Shield right now because my refrigerator was leaking and I terminated my warranty with Frigidaire because I thought it was an overkill paying them all that money each year and then paying monthly for American Home Shield. My refrigerator has a hole in the back of it because there's a defect in the way they made the refrigerator in the back. The guy they sent out stopped the leak but the problem isn't solved. Home Shield had me reach out to Frigidaire but I can't get a hold of anybody at Frigidaire. I'm ticked off about it and American Home Shield refuses to do anything because they say it's a factory defect. Even though I'm making monthly payments for their service, they don't wanna replace my refrigerator. It's not fair. They're getting a lot of money out of me each month. I have a rental house and this house and both of them are through American Home Shield.

The filter housing on my refrigerator was broken. When you'd put another filter in, the water would just come out of it like spring. I did an online appointment to American Home Shield and everything was good to go. Sears came and fixed the refrigerator. The first technician came out to see what was wrong with the fridge but he pulled my refrigerator out and scratched my wood floor. Then he said that it was just a scratch and that it would come off really easily. Then he was doing something on his cell phone and then he sent me documentation saying that it was not their responsibility for the scratches. On the acknowledge signature, he tried to sign it with my signature. The scratches were minor but forging my signature on a piece of paper was another thing. It was bad that the technician did that but it didn't matter to me. I just buffed and cleaned the floor up. You can still see the scratch but it's blended in. They fixed my refrigerator. So it's good now.
When I went on the AHS website, I messed up on the date that I want my service. So I tried to cancel the first one and then try to submit another. Then when I went back to it, the first one didn't cancel and I got two appointments. So I canceled both of them and then made a brand new one. Then there were three appointments for the same thing. So I was trying to get ahold of them but it was hard to do. On their recording, it said that the long wait time for service was because of COVID-19. It took me three tries. The first time I got put on hold for 15 minutes and did the same thing on the second call and then I finally gave up.
On the third call, I finally got somebody and told AHS that I made a mistake on the day that I wanted the appointment and that I was trying to cancel it. Everybody is working at home for the most part. So they should at least have technicians manning the phone so at least their customers wouldn't have to wait so long and make multiple attempts to get a hold of them.

The wax seal on the toilet failed and the toilet was leaking. AHS sent out Bear Plumbing & Rooter and their guy did a great job. When you have a claim with AHS, you can go online and fill out the request for a claim. If you wanna try to call them on the phone, you're not gonna get very far. They don't answer their phones. I called yesterday about something and it was a two-hour wait. If you do get through to somebody, unfortunately, like a lot of companies, they have outsourced most of their customer service work overseas to the Philippines. And I understand why they do it. My only problem with it is many of the people don't speak clearly enough to understand. And when you're on the phone to the Philippines or somewhere far overseas, there's a bit of a lag in the call. You end up speaking over each other and that's a little bit difficult. But it's the way things have gone with a lot of outsourcing to cut costs.
Another thing with AHS is they could stop trying to figure out every way they can to not pay for a claim, like if I have a plumbing issue with a toilet. I am in the process of having that issue right now with one of my air conditioning units and they look for every single potential loophole that they can find so that they don't have to pay for things. It's quite frustrating. And it isn't just me. When the contractors come out, they tell me that AHS does everything they can to not pay the claims.
Potential homeowner should look at the contract carefully and they should consider alternatives as well. This go-around, I've had AHS since 2013. But I had them from 2001 until about 2010 as well. When I used to have them, they used to cover a lot more than they do now. Now, they've raised their prices and they've eliminated things they cover. They also try to get out of covering things that are supposed to be covered.

The air conditioner wasn't working. I submitted a claim with AHS and we weren't too happy about our experience because it took them forever to call us. But when the guy came out, he knew exactly what to do. He was a genius and since the repair, the AC's performance has been great. We had cold air in the air conditioning and the issue wasn't the Freon. That was another thing I appreciated about him because we've had other people come out before for air conditioners, and they would always tell us it was the Freon. They would give us a great big deal for Freon when it really wasn’t. But this guy didn't do that. He said there was a wire that was off and he did great. Send him out every time, please.
Also, I'm handicapped because I have a fake leg. I also have a boot on the other foot, the good foot. So, it would be totally impossible for me to go out and even look at the air conditioner. But he had no problem helping us out and it was amazing. Other than that, the reason that I went with AHS was because I wanted to have someone to come in and do the work. I’ve paid in so much money to AHS over the years and when we started, a lot of things were covered. But while we’ve stayed, they took off more things in the coverage and it didn't make any sense to me. Why would it be covered way back and now not covered?
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I was having smells like there was some kind of leak or blockage from the downstairs bathroom or the laundry room. Watkins Plumbing came out in a day or two. It was pretty quick but the guy couldn't figure out what the problem was. So I paid him $100 to tell me that and then he left. The claim is closed, but it hasn't been fixed. I've been dealing with American Home Shield on another claim and the shortest I've ever had to wait was 38 minutes and the maximum is about three hours and five minutes. On average, it's about an hour and 45 minutes. So, I'm disappointed. I have been waiting for 30 days to get an air conditioner fixed because all they're worried about is them saving every penny they can and not getting the job fixed.
Last year, we called and put in a claim for the air conditioner and AHS assigned this vendor that was two hours away from here. But they said that they wouldn't work on second story tile roof units. When I tried last year to have American Home Shield send somebody else, they didn't have anyone available. It was really hot, so we just got it fixed ourselves.
This year, when the unit went out, we called and AHS had assigned the same company two hours away. I told AHS before the vendor came out that this was the unit they refused to work on the year before. But AHS said that it was fine. So I waited a week and a half with no air conditioner and with record heatwave temperatures. When the vendor got here, they said that they wouldn't go on the roof. Then I called American Home Shield back after waiting on the phone for over an hour and a half. I asked if I could just find a contractor locally and AHS said that we would have to let them try to assign someone else.
AHS assigned the repair to someone else and then two days later, it was the same company, Foster Heating and Air. So they called and I told them that they weren't gonna go on the roof so that left the claim to being opened. So I called American Home Shield and waited on the phone for two hours and told them that the vendor wouldn't work on it. So I asked to get a local contractor to come over and diagnose what was wrong with the unit. AHS told me that if I did that, they could not perform the work or that would void the warranty. They needed to call the technician line, give them the dispatch number, and tell them what the diagnosis was. Then, they would see if they would approve.
So I had a contractor come out and gave me a bid. He said that they could not repair it because one of the broken parts was obsolete and the manufacturer did not have any parts to replace it and the unit itself was generally old. So they recommended a replacement unit. I just wanted to make sure that repair wasn't an option so I got a second contractor to come out. It was the same diagnosis. Two different parts, they could replace one of them but the other one they couldn't. They recommended replacing the unit. So that contractor called the authorizations line. He had to wait on the phone for an hour and a half. He got through and he gave AHS the diagnosis. He gave them the estimate and they told him that they would review it for authorization to repair and they would get back to him.
The next thing that happened, I got a call from none other than South Foster Heating and Air, who had already been out here twice and already told me that they were not going on the roof, saying that the warranty company told them that they had to come out here and do a diagnosis and to send a master technician. So I waited for another week. They came out yesterday but their master technician wasn't gonna go on the roof. So I called AHS back and stayed on the phone for three hours yesterday and two and a half hours this morning to get them. AHS was saying that they were waiting on the authorizations department. The authorization department has clearly decided that the replacement of the unit is authorized but they don't wanna pay the amount that the contractor has said it'll cost.
All I want AHS to do is tell me what they're gonna pay and I'll pay the difference, and I like to have air conditioning. I'm clearly canceling my policy when this is over, and as a real estate attorney and a real estate broker with 19 agents that hang their license with me, we will never use this company again. It has been a month and I still don't have air conditioning. Their customer service line takes hours to get through and they tell me that it's because of COVID. But when I call their sales line, they answer in five minutes or less. So if they have people to staff their sales line and keep selling policies but they don't have the capacity to service, there's something wrong with that picture. I'm just waiting for a callback which I have zero faith it's gonna occur 'cause I've been told they're gonna call me back before and they never do.

The number one benefit of Home Shield over other home warranty companies is Home Shield lets us select our contractors. I was having problems with my air conditioning. I explained to them what was happening. My son kept putting it low at 74 and my electric bill had been extremely high. Then every time I would move it to 75 or 76, it kept shutting off. So I told American Home Shield what was going on. I paid the $75 upfront and they scheduled the appointment. The guy came out and checked it over. He told me that the line was clogged. He never came into the house to check the thermostat or anything like that. He said that I needed to put the bleach solution in the overflow valves, so that was what I did.
The next day, the AC seemed okay. You could smell that bleachy smell but the next day or the day after, it started doing the same thing. I called AHS and I said that it was not fixed and that I was not paying to have a guy come out again. The rep said, “You don't have to pay to have someone come out. It's called a recall. Go online and request a recall work order and then that guy will come out.” Well, a different guy came out and he couldn't find anything wrong. He did check the thermostat but he didn't open it up. He just fiddled around with it.
The second guy said he didn't know what the problem was. I asked him if it could be the thermostat and he said that unless is did it while he was here, there was no way for him to know what to do. Then I was gonna call AHS but I thought that I was just gonna try to see if I could figure this out myself. I knew that I had already put the bleach thing in. So I dismantled the thermostat and took the battery things out and replaced the batteries. Since then, there was no problem.
The first gentleman was very nice and knowledgeable, but he wasn't thorough enough. The thermostat probably should have been checked and just not coming into the garage and looking at my unit that was in the garage. He also gave me a quote on a new air conditioner. With the second guy, with this whole COVID thing, I didn't really even want anyone coming into my house but I was at the point where I had to get to the bottom of this whole thermostat issue. So he was asking if it was okay for him to come in and I let him in. But he just fiddled around with it a little bit and that was it. I was not really impressed with him.
This issue with the AC actually happened to me last year with American Home Shield, and I was in the US Virgin Islands. My son was here by himself with his girlfriend. But I set up and had somebody come out. It was for a similar issue with the air conditioning unit ‘cause it was hot in Florida in the dead of summer. Then the AC started working, so I never had them come out. They never refunded my money, but the issue was resolved, so I was okay with that. But with this whole situation, I had to pay more money for the same problem again. Now, I don't know if it's fixed or not.
I'm not really happy with the whole thing with American Home Shield, to begin with. When I first bought my house, I was told that everything was covered. Then when I had things start going wrong, I found out practically nothing that I had going wrong was covered. Then the following year, I got an additional policy for my pool and my hot tub. But none of the stuff that was going on with that was covered either. So it was a big waste of about $3,000 last year for the policy. The only reason I decided to go ahead with them this year is because of the plumbing and electrical. If you have something huge go on, obviously, you need to have it fixed. And the air conditioning was old so the $600 was still cheaper than spending 6,000 or 8,000 for a new unit.

Unfortunately, because of the high volume on the end of the contractors, we couldn't get somebody out for a couple of weeks. But they addressed our claim almost immediately. We were very happy with the service provided by the contractors. We've had no problems since they've been out. We've been very happy so far with AHS.

Everything’s simple with American Home Shield. I've always had a decent service. The only problem I've ever had with them was I called them on my garage doors a couple of times and I won't do that again. The first time, the garage door spring broke. I called them and they sent somebody out. I didn't know at that time that the springs weren't part of what's covered. The guy that they sent out said he'd do it for me. He was gonna replace the parts and it would be $400. He'd send a report to Home Shield and they'd accept. But if I didn't want to, then he was gonna send a report to Home Shield and they were not going to cover anything. I told him he was trying to extort me out of $400 and I told him to leave. He stood in front of my house and called American Home Shield. After he called them, they called me and said springs weren't covered. I tried to tell them what he said and they didn't really care about what he had done.
Recently, something went bad on the air conditioning unit that supplies the living areas of my home and it wouldn't work. The guy American Home Shield sent out looked at everything and was real thorough about what he was looking at. Then he talked to somebody, came back and said he felt like it was the control board and maybe the thermostat. He went, got those and installed them. The thermostat that they sent him from the parts house that they told him would fit wouldn’t fit so he came back and said that there was only one thermostat that does fit and it'd take five days from order to delivery. As soon as he got it, he’d be here. He called me every day and told me what was going on. The parts house screwed up then and it didn't come in five days. It was more like seven or eight, but once he got it, he came, installed it and made sure everything was working and was good to go.

When submitting claims to American Home Shield, which is very easy, I can either call or do it online. We've definitely got our money's worth with American Home Shield. They got all the problems in our home fixed as fast as they could. The issue was fixed very quickly when the contractor, Advanced Electrical Solutions, came out and we haven’t had any problem since. Everything is working very well. Sometimes, bad winters can cause an issue. We had an event during Christmas and they were able to find somebody to come out. We also had an issue with our washer where it had to be replaced a couple of times now. This last time, it took a while to get the new washer but that was only because it was during the COVID quarantine, which everything was taking forever, so it was not their fault. Other than that, my wife and I both appreciate AHS and we like that we got it when we purchased the home.

Now, I'm waiting for a compressor to arrive. Here in Vegas, it's 130 degrees and I have a baby so it's really double frustrating. They said it could come in one day next week. I had other claims with American Home Shield before and they were fine. My air conditioner downstairs was broken and it was fixed right away.

My garage door was very noisy when operating and it wouldn't open or close normally. I placed a repair order and the tech from Flash Garage Door came on behalf of American Home Shield within two days. He was on time and he fixed the issue in 15 minutes. There was a little part that was broken and he replaced it. It was an easy fix for him and everything went back to normal afterward.
I have had a lot of experience with American Home Shield in a lot of the homes I have stayed at over 10-plus years. Last year, my AC and its compressor went out at another property I have. The reimbursement for that claim wasn't that great because the quotes I was getting were twice as much as the reimbursement I was given. I ended up replacing my unit on my own and took the $700 they were giving me. When it comes to bigger system problems that cost more, American Home Shield will fight. Still, I've saved the little things that are very quick to fix through them.

I had had experience with American Home Shield before in a few different properties, and I liked them. I got them on top of Old Republic. I've always liked American Home Shield's work. Our AC keeps breaking. It stopped last night. So this is the fourth time that I've had to claim on it for the same thing. At one of those times, I was out of air conditioning for two days and it was 107 degrees. Last year, I had a claim for the AC and it was a different contractor. But this year during this time, it's been the same one, Cabot. The compressor is completely out and the technician from Cabot Mechanical has been out here about four times on this same issue. They're gonna replace the compressor. The tech's supervisor called me and said that they sent a request to American Home Shield to either approve or deny it. If AHS approved it, then Cabot Mechanical would order the unit. As of right now, I don't have any air conditioning.

The first time American Home Shield sent a contractor for our washer issue, we tried to explain that our unit doesn't finish the cycle. The first contractor then said that was because we would put in too much clothes. I told them that something was not right because the washer does not finish the cycle. He then says "No, no, no. It's good, it's good". He opened the top of the washer and looked at it and said everything was fine and that I just shouldn't put too much clothes in the washer. After he left, my wife put in a load and the problem happens just the same.
I called American Home Shield and they sent me the same guy. He then said that he told us already not to put too much clothes. I told him that wasn't the problem and that he needed to fix the issue. He opened the top of the washer again and looked at it but didn't do anything. He then took off and I didn't even sign a paper with him. He didn't know anything. Plus, he drove a normal car which was not professional.
The second guy AHS sent showed up in a van with all his tools and with the name of the company he was representing. He said that I was 100% right that my washer is not good. He told us what the problem was and it was a pump that was not working. He did the work that he was supposed to do and fixed my problem right away. Currently, I'm satisfied with Home Shield as long as they send professional people to fix whatever my issue is.

I sent them payment but I may have put the wrong number on it. The payment has been accepted by AHS but I needed to make sure it's going to the right account. The wait on the phone for somebody at Home Shield to pick up is an awfully long wait. I did six to nine hours of waiting on the telephone and I finally got to where I needed to be in their system. I got guidance and got everything taken care of.

They're pretty efficient at getting you scheduled in within the next day or two maximum. They come out and take care of the issue. We had a pool issue and it was the same process. Everyone's been super professional. There was one thing we had called back on and they were back out and took care of it again without any additional fees.
My experience with American Home Shield has been surprisingly exactly what they promote and easier to deal with issues. I just would like to be able to kind of send something out to friends or neighbors like some kind of a link. It'd be cool to kinda share the information. All of a sudden, there was no water coming out of the dishwasher anymore. It was running, but it was dry. ARO Appliance Repair handled it well. They sent someone out pretty quickly and I was updated via text message. It was pretty cool. They sent me a text when they had scheduled the person and they gave me a window of time that they would come, and then I got another text when that person was on the way. He came and said he needed to order a part. After he left, I got text messages again saying when the part was ordered and when I could expect to return. Then he came back and installed it when he was here very quickly. It's been working fine ever since then.
I had another situation with my water heater where I had someone come out. A piping on my water heater wasn't allowing for an accurate flow. So, the technician altered it. But then, after that fact, I approved the work. Months later down the road, when it comes time for me to take out my furnace air filter, I'm supposed to take the furnace air filter out and vacuum it out like every three months. So those three months came and I went to pull out the filter to vacuum the furnace air filter, and I couldn't pull the air filter out because the way that the technician had restructured the piping, it was blocking it.
I fought back and forth with American Home Shield where they weren't gonna send somebody back out because they said, "You approved it." I told them, "Yes, I approved it, but I didn't know at that time that it was obstructing it." You don't clean the air filter every day or even every mont. So, that was something that was very frustrating for me considering that I had already paid for it. If someone already paid for something, and even if they've approved the work, if there's something like a time delay for a valid reason, American Home Shield should be willing to work with people. But other than that, their service has been great.

The AC was clanging and it stopped working. We submitted a claim with AHS and the gentleman that they sent out was very good. The first time he came, it was four days after I called, and he said it was the compressor that was gone. This house was built in 2006 and I moved in last year. He told me that this unit was probably still the same air conditioner and they usually go out after 12 years. He said that I needed a new air compressor but he said that he had to talk to the insurance company. Then, they had to order it and when it finally came in, he came over and it cost me another $120 over the $75 service fee.
He was very professional and he knew his stuff. He had to wait a couple of weeks to get the parts though and we ended up waiting for almost a month. It should have been fixed in a few days and I shouldn't have to wait that long. I also had to buy three room air conditioners in the meantime, which cost me $325, because I had no air conditioning here in Florida. You'll die without air conditioning in the house in the summer. But everything was well in the end and the AC is working good now. All in all, I'm happy with American Home Shield.

Sears was phenomenal. I used to have them but I stopped them because the stores were dying. I tried another service through our local utilities and it was horrible. Then a friend recommended American Home Shield. They're average though. They’re not as good as Sears who had their own repair people so they had a little bit more control over response times. I had an issue with the microwave and AHS assigned me one repair place. The rep was very upfront and told me they were busy and couldn’t even schedule a time. She said she would get back with me or I could call her back. After two weeks, it dawned on me that I never heard back from them. So, I called then and they still couldn’t schedule a time.
I called AHS and they gave me somebody else. It still took a good week or longer to get somebody out, and then to get the part. It was well over a month before the microwave got finished from the time I called. It was a real pain not having a microwave. We could use it but we kept thinking if we should be using it. When the AC died in a very hot time, I thought of buying fans. But the company responded that day and they asked if they could be out the next day. They fixed it on the spot so I was quite pleased with the air conditioning. The contractor, Quality Air Experts, responded the quickest I've ever had anybody respond with American Home Shield. I almost dropped AHS because the response time was so long and it just wasn't worth it. But the AC renewed my faith in them again and I gave them another chance.
AHS needs to be more hands on and work on their follow through. Once they assign somebody, it’s hands off for them. I had to follow through constantly and the appliance was not getting fixed. I called them back and they got somebody else. They should have a little bit more oversight on these different contractors that they have. They should have somebody to follow through if the work got done. I seriously thought about seeing if Sears still does their home repair because if they do, I will take them back in a heartbeat. They were also cheaper monthly. It was almost half the fee, monthly, compared to American Home Shield. The deductible with Sears was only $50 whereas it was 100 with AHS. So, I got way more with Sears.

When I tried to open that claim, there was a discrepancy. This was back when AHS went through JK Plumbing and they had a lot of complaints. Other than that issue, everything has been great with Home Shield.
Recently, there was a blockage in my water drain. Home Shield sent out JP Plumbing & Heating to handle it. The tech who came was pretty quick and he had a mask on. I submitted the claim for the appliance and I got a call back that day. Then, it was four days before the contractor was able to come. The technician was able to figure out what was wrong with the appliance. He ordered the part and came back the next week and put it in. So far, it's been working. He was good and he got it done. He had his mask on and I had mine on too. He had gloves and we stayed six feet apart.

Something was wrong with my dryer. When the Wilk's Appliance Repair tech first came, my daughter was here and I was on my way home. When I got here, he was running out to get a part. And then he came back and fixed whatever, and then he left. He was a nice guy. That was a couple of weeks ago and that one has been fixed. But then two weeks after my dryer, I had problems with my washer. Before Tuesday, Sears came out and looked at it. The tech told my daughter he couldn't diagnose it, so then that was when it was sent to Wilk's. And then Wilk's came on Tuesday. The tech told my daughter again that he ordered the washer top. She said something on the inside of the washer under the top was broken, and so the tech would order a top. That's what I'm waiting on.
I called that 188 number for my appliances. When my dryer went out, I wanted to add my washer just because it was acting up, but I couldn't do it. So, I just was like, “It's still working, and I'll just deal with it. I'm dealing with it.” Because I have to push on the top. But two weeks later, that was when it went out. I had to pay another $75 because I couldn't speak to somebody to add two things. First, it was my dryer. That was one week. Then the next week, my AC went out. And then the third week, it was my washer. But other than that, I'm very satisfied. When I first heard about Home Shield, I thought it was excellent. I have a lot of appliances and I'm a single parent. If something goes out, I can just make that call and just pay $75. That's perfect for me.

The first problem was the dishwasher. There was a film and the dishwasher wasn't heating properly. Crawford Appliance took a bit for them to get there. There was some confusion over what the root cause was and how to fix it. But the ultimate resolution was fine. The dishwasher works fine now. The most recent one was the oven. It was overheating. It would just run away and the fans would not firing on. Crawford came in, made an assessment and ordered some parts. It took a couple of weeks, then they came back, put the parts in, and that was it. The oven is working fine. We were concerned at the beginning that the fans weren't going on, but they go on, and it hasn't had the issue.
Having Home Shield has been more or less a fine experience. However, coordinating the scheduling would be beneficial. With all the contractors we have dealt with, there was a huge range of how Home Shield handled communication. We had a leak that was just resolved this last week. Getting the hole in the ceiling fixed took a week. The guys never called. I had to call, and then Home Shield got them on the phone, and then they didn't show up when they said they would. And then I called again, the guy said, "Oh, yeah, I'll come tomorrow." So, sometimes, the contractors were not always all responsive or easy to work with, but it is what it is. If somebody asked me, I would say Home Shield is worthwhile to do. They should go and do it.

At first, the technicians from Ace Heating didn't quite have the problem diagnosed correctly, so it didn't resolve the issue totally. But they came out a couple of days later and replaced the parts that needed to be replaced. I haven't had a problem since. Also, they were great about taking precautions due to the pandemic. Ever since we have been with American Home Shield, they’ve been great too and everything has been resolved. AHS has always been good. We called a previous time and the guy came out and gave a wacky assessment. American said not to worry and they would send another one.
Three months back though, we had a plumbing issue. We had no pressure on our faucet in our kitchen sink. It hasn’t been resolved yet. We haven't had any communication and it's been frustrating. It could be a circumstantial thing and I hate to get a small local business in trouble but Matt’s Plumbing is not very responsive. If I'm running a business and the parts are delayed, I’d at least call or send a note that says we haven’t forgotten and that due to COVID, parts are delayed. The only time we hear from them is when we reach out and it’s never an answer that says what is going on. I paid the copay already the first time. They said there was a delay on parts. So American Home Shield would probably want to close this out, but they would contact them and tell them it needs to be extended. But I don't know for sure if that’s where it’s at or what the deal is.

I called AHS for our dryer and the rep was good. The only problem we had was it took quite a while to get through to them. GE came out and the repairman was nice. They tried to fix it and it only worked for a day. AHS notified us that GE said it wasn't gonna be repairable and that we'd receive a new unit within a couple of weeks. Since we purchased the warranty, we've had two calls for them and it has been terrific. AHS is top-notch.

About a year ago, I had somebody come to try to find out what was wrong with my AC. Those techs said they could not find a leak. They put a bunch of refrigerant in it. This past May, my AC was not cooling again. I called in the issue to American Home Shield and their techs from Ace Air Conditioning and Heating came out. The techs said that I was completely out of refrigerant. They filled my AC unit with something else to see if they could find the leak and what they used would seal a leak if there is one. It didn't seal the leak so we had to call them back again. Ace came back and said that they couldn't find the leak and some leaks were hard to find especially when they're in the condenser. So, I have paid the service fee and AHS has paid a certain fee three times already and still, we don't have a solution. My AC is cooling now after the last techs put refrigerant in it but it doesn't last.
Additionally, the techs who came said that they have heard that in apartment complexes, kids drain the refrigerant. They asked me if I thought that could happen at my location. I told them I don't have that kind of problem here and what they were suggesting seemed really farfetched. When Ace came in May, I paid for refrigerant. When I had a call again in July, Home Shield was gonna assign somebody else. I told them that I'd rather have the same people come out because they were very thorough. My house is cooling right now but I won't feel comfortable until we've found the leak. The techs have told me that it's hard to get a warranty company to change my condenser. They said they had to prove that it was a condenser leak.
For other claims such as for our blower and heater, things went relatively well but I still had sort of a fight with their contractor, Epic, because they wanted me to pay for the needed part upfront. I said, "doesn't the contractor pay for the part and get reimbursed?". At that person, no one could answer my questions whether the part needed was under warranty or not and whether I should buy it. Epic told me the part was not under warranty. One rep told me that my warranty expires in a certain number of years. Another rep told me that the warranty for my blower would be for four more years.
Epic responded saying that they were not gonna use their credit card for the part needed. I finally called the company that made the needed blower and read them the amount needed. I then paid over the telephone for the part and then I got reimbursed. When my issue with my AC came out in may, Home Shield told me that Epic would be calling me. I told them I didn't want to have Epic. I told AHS that I had to jump through hoops to get them to figure out what was wrong with my heater.
Even though right now everything is good, I'm a little Frustrated with Home Shield. The last contractor I got isn't the problem. The one I got was very honest with me. Still, some of the contractors don't know AHS's system. They don't know that they can get a part or how to check if something is under warranty. I went in circles a bit but things turned out fine.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I had a leak and I thought it was coming from my water heater. American Home Shield had Plumbers Inc. come out and their guy spotted the problem pretty fast. I had a couple of people who kinda glanced at it and they said the water heater was leaking. But it actually happened to be the line that runs from the refrigerator that ran through there. It was like a little plug. The guy was able to come back and fix it so that went well.
But I have an issue with another situation. I had a company come out for my range and my refrigerator. It was the same company. The tech made some adjustments on the fridge and I haven't had the issues with the appliance. But for the range, the issue was not happening at the time that the tech visited. We set the range to 400 but it would only go to 325 then 500. Whatever it was, it was always lower and you couldn't really tell what it was getting to. The problem was probably the thermometer and I told the tech about it. A couple of weeks after, the range started doing it again. We've kinda mastered it now. If we want a 450, we have to do 475. It's basically 25 degrees lower.
I called the company to try to ask them to come back out and look at the range. But they said I should call Home Shield which I did. I kinda selected the method to not hold then be called. Someone called me but they had bad service and we got disconnected. They never called me back. I would have to go through the process of calling again and asking to be called back.
With American Home Shield, I wanted to see if they could come back and fix that issue because the techs didn't look into it. I told the guy that something was wrong but they didn't look into the temperature gauge and just said it was probably just the power outage reset. Maybe it was due to a power outage because every now and then we have one. But he didn't check it. Obviously, there was something wrong with the gauge.
A home warranty is pretty useful if you're getting a place with appliances and you have an issue. A contractor would come check it out and hopefully fix it. I haven't had any issues yet except for that one person who came out and didn't do due diligence. But that's not American Home Shield, that was the company. Still, I need to get my range checked out.

I still don't think it should take 4 months to get your refrigerator fixed.
Original Review: Aug. 21, 2020
Legum's Heating & Cooling came out and was great. They ended up having to come out three different times because once they fixed the first thing, it was running again and then they realized something else was wrong with it ‘cause it stopped cooling again. Apparently, there was a Freon leak, so we did the Freon first and then the second time, when they came out, they had to replace a small piece up in the unit in the attic. Then the third time they came out, they had to replace the air coil ‘cause that was where the actual Freon leak was. They made sure to keep their distance. They didn’t get right up near us and they were also wearing face masks. It was the same guy, Adam, that came out each time, and then the second and third time, he had an apprentice with him, and they both did the same thing.
However, I'm not really happy with my refrigerator because that was another claim that I turned in the same day. All of a sudden, it side stopped cooling, and the contractor had to wait on Samsung parts. They just came out yesterday and installed the part and I called on June 23rd. The parts were on backorder and supposed to take 7 to 10 days to come in. Then Samsung pushed that date out to where it was just a backorder. It didn't even have an estimated date.
I finally had to get a broker friend of mine to reach out to somebody because I was not getting any answers from American Home Shield. When I would call the toll-free number, they would tell me that they're not able to transfer to anybody, that it's with Parts now, so until Parts states it they can't do anything. I asked them how long I am supposed to go without having this major appliance and I could never get an answer. I was talking to the lowest person on the totem pole and they would not transfer me or give me a phone number to talk to their manager or anybody else.

Recently, we had a question about how well the air was working, because it wasn't cooling down very quickly. We were curious if the contractors of AHS could do a diagnostic and so they came out and did that diagnostic. The contractors that came did a good job. The website of AHS was good too. It was easy to use. They also updated me on the website and via a text message.

AHS then send me an email asking that I call them (they can't be bothered to call you). When I call, I get PUT ON HOLD for extended period before getting a live human. She tells me "we won't cover it because there was maintenance required that was not performed". I asked to speak with her supervisor and she informed me that her supervisor would tell me the same thing... I had to insist. After another 10 minutes on hold, the same woman came back on and advised she would then transfer me to the escalation dept. (I guess the spvsr needed 10 minutes to realize she could not be bothered with me).
I spent ANOTHER 20 MINUTES ON HOLD. Finally, the phone picked up AND CUT ME OFF. Called back later- ANOTHER 45 MINUTES ON HOLD. The service rep who put me on hold got back on the phone and thanked me for "PATIENTLY" waiting, then advised that they were busy and could have someone call me back. I guess I will continue to PATIENTLY WAIT. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY! YOU WILL REGRET IT.

They promise if they didn't found parts in 2-3 weeks they will replace it but still keep calling them almost everyday and appropriate answer getting back. We have 2 houses insured with them but very disappointed this time. Cooking without exhaust is not easy with 3 kids at home who need something to eat almost every 30 minutes. I purchased home warranty from American Home Shield for HVAC and Home well systems. I was told there was a one month waiting period and a 100.00 service fee per call and that I could cancel my contract at any time without a cancellation fee even if I had already received a service on my appliance. After a month wait I logged into my account and paid the service fee and was given the name and phone number of a AC repair mechanic. I called that number multiple times and left messages that day but no response from the mechanic. I called AHS phone and there was a hold of hours with no call back option. I logged into my account to see if there was a way send a message or email to AHS. There was no other way to contact AHS except by phone. I suspected fraud.
In my account a live chat window popped up and I was able to cancel my contract through live chat. Later that day a woman from AHS called and persuaded me to give AHS another chance and offered both AC and Furnace service with same contractor for 100.00 instead of 200.00 service fee and promised that contractor will call me within 24-48 hours. No call came. I made numerous unsuccessful attempts and spend hours to contact both AHS and the mechanic. There was no way I could cancel this contact thru AHS as the only way to reach them was by phone number listed under "CONTACT US".
Fearing I was scammed, I called my credit card company and explained the situation. They emailed me back the same day and refunded the monies I had paid AHS. Since then I have been receiving emails from a "no reply" address from AHS demanding past due debt and threats for collection proceedings. I have replied to the emails, called and texted the phone number listed in the emails explaining the issues and that AHS was in breach of contractual agreement and has failed to provide the promised service for which I had paid premium and service fees.
I called the number listed in last email from AHS and after spending hours I was able to speak with a woman who told me that there was no HVAC contractor in the area where I lived and therefore my appliances can not be serviced. She transferred me over to the cancellation department and the call center lady insisted that I owed AHS a cancellation fee of 99.00 and would not let me have her supervisors phone or email address and would not bring her supervisor on line. She said in order to avoid collection of debt I need to resolve the issue with **.
So my take on this company is that it is fraud. The company sells you services and collects premiums and service fee but has no contractor to provide the service. It traps you in a contract that you have no way of cancelling as the only way to reach the AHS is by phone which no one answers. It gives you phone number of contractor that do not exist and then charges the customer a cancellation fee. A pretty good business model to make money by simply collecting premiums, service fees, and cancellation charges. I would never do any business with AHS ever again.

We’ve had them for eight years, so we’ve had good years with them and we’ve had not-so-good years with them. Having a warranty has been beneficial, but sometimes it feels like with American Home Shield that we're just pushed down the list for other service. I doubt they can do anything about that with their contractors, but they should have good contractors. We had something that took weeks to fix and I shouldn’t have to call the contractors. As of this year though, it’s been okay.
Submitting a claim is easy and we love Steinmetz HVAC. They came out before, and they were wonderful as well. They’re honest, on time and polite. They called and they came out when they said they’re gonna come out. They also explained the issue to my husband. Another thing is they were outside, but there were two of them working together and they had on their masks.

Once you get on the phone with Home Shield, it's a breeze. But sometimes, you can wait close to an hour for somebody to answer the phone. That might be a problem if there was a major crisis. But my husband and I are both semi-retired so it was just about putting the phone on speakerphone and continuing to make breakfast or whatever else. And then when the reps got on the phone, they immediately took charge of the issue and got somebody in the area to come out. It was very quick. We had two other times when we spoke with Home Shield about other things recently, and they were both handled really well from once they picked up the phone.
Home Shield has improved the call wait time. They have offered an online way of making a claim. It's just that we prefer to wait to speak with a person. They have been very receptive and quick. And then, after you get to them, they also send texts and emails when the tech is about to come out. You can monitor the techs coming out. And the tech calls you, or you can call them directly. They give you the phone number for the person that they consulted with, and then you can contact them about it if you need to change the time. It's all very transparent. Recently, we had a problem with our sink. There was a leak, and it was not initially repaired perfectly. There was another leak after it was initially repaired, and then Colorado First came out again and repaired it perfectly.

For this claim, AHS's contractor, Austin Appliance came and the techs checked my circuit breakers. One of the outlets in my kitchen needed to be reset and when that was done, my microwave started working. The tech did that before he started working on my microwave.

And then, I was very afraid of the contractors that they would contract out to my home. Also, it would sometimes take three or four weeks before I would get a job done. They would take my money but I would have to wait so long. It was just horrible service.
When my garbage disposal stopped working, I called Home Shield and I talked to the automated system. I was given a date and a time and a specific agency. I went online and looked up the reviews on that particular plumbing. And then, the other company had horrible reviews. I called Home Shield back, and then I spoke with someone. I said, “Could you please redirect me to another contractor because the one that the automated system gave me, did not have good reviews.” That's when they gave me Plumbers Inc. So I said, “Thank you very much.” They gave me just a few days later for Plumbers Inc to come out, which I was very happy for because I didn't have a sink at that point in time. My parents had American Home Shield since they've owned their home and they've always had good recommendations. When it was time for us to switch warranties, I switched over to American Home Shield and I've loved using it so far. We've just recently gotten it but it was able to come in the time of need. The AC stopped blowing hot air and the fan of the outside unit stopped spinning. We ended up contacting them through their website. It was the next morning that I got a call to set up with Island Breeze for their person to come out.
The guy came out the next day. He checked the thermostat, checked upstairs, made sure it wasn't like water pan, and then he did everything outside and there was a wire or something that was faulty. He was really knowledgeable with us, like how to upkeep it and do some things for ourselves. We can keep it better running, I guess. It just really worked really well for us. American Home Shield was a lot quicker than my old warranty. My old warranty was nine days before I had someone out. It's convenient, we have that safety net if it's something that they can troubleshoot. It's also more cost-effective that way than having to hire out and then build that.

I went online and submitted the claim for the air conditioning. The contractor gave me options to do the minimal replacement of the heating coil, which they downplayed that I wanna do that. They gave me the medium fix, which would be replace part of my unit. Then they gave me the total fix, which was paying a whole lot more than I should for a brand new unit. They installed it and American Home Shield paid $800 out of $7,000. I haven't been able to communicate with them. They're very difficult to get in touch with. The customer service line number is in Malaysia and they can't tell you anything. They can't troubleshoot for you. They can't connect you to anybody. They can give you a phone number. You call the phone number but nobody ever answers it. So it's a dead-end. Right now, I'm upset with American Home Shield because they've given me almost next to nothing for my claim.
The first claim I had with American Home Shield was for my water heater and I was decently satisfied with it. They sent me a check for the water heater and I had it replaced. I just had it installed. So they gave me a good value. With the air conditioner, I could have had unrealistic expectations on my part. It could be that I didn't understand the contract or that I've had too many claims in one year.
You pay 60 or 70 bucks a month to cover everything you could possibly cover in your house and they say that you have to wait a month to get that active. But they don't really tell me how many times I can use it. So I'm a little disappointed in what they've done for the air conditioner. I thought that American Home Shield would pay more than less than $1,000. There ought to be a number for claims or a number that gets you straight into the department that can talk to you about the claim process, not just the customer service part. I haven't found a number that can get me straight into the person who I need to talk to.

I couldn't close my shower all the way up and it was leaking. When I filed a service claim through the website, I also called for an appointment. After I paid the service fee of $100, American Home Shield sent a plumber to my house and he didn't even look at it. He said to me, "The water pressure in your house, it’s too high. It's supposed to be 80 psi. It's 90 psi." I went to Home Depot and bought an Aqua meter to check the pressure myself. The water pressure in my house was 75 to 77. It wasn’t even over 80, like that guy said. This plumber stuck a hose on the water input going to my house as well and he destroyed the hose. I called American Home Shield and complained about it. They said, "Oh, we're gonna send somebody else.”
American Home Shield sent a second plumber to my house and he went and opened the shower in the wall. He found out the issue was the cartridge on my shower. The O-rings and stuff were destroyed with time and it didn't work. He said that he needed to contact American Home Shield to get the part. Per my understanding, because this was a very custom shower, it had a lifetime warranty. They didn't even have to pay for it and they're gonna get the money back.
The second plumber came to my house and fixed the shower as well and I paid for the hose that the first plumber broke in my house. I didn't want to go to the insurance company because this plumber charged me 40 or something dollars to fix it and it was less than I would pay with Home Shield. I paid those from my pocket, although Home Shield made all these damage in my house. Now the issue is fixed, but I was very disappointed by everything that was done.
My shower was leaking for more than a month and I had to take time off from work and spend time with those plumbers. I spent hours and hours with Home Shield on the phone to solve the issue and I just got a letter yesterday from them asking me for money again. They are saying they are not covering the service that was performed because the problem was the water pressure. This is even though the second plumber came and saw the issue was the cartridge of the shower, not the water pressure. I'm also wondering what is not covered, because they got money from the warranty of the shower too.

Recently, the contractors came out to work on the air conditioner. They figured that it needed an electrician 'cause the circuit box kept tripping. The website of AHS is good. I like it 'cause you can get through fast. I got all kinds of notification as to when to expect the contractors out. Then when the contractors came, they called and let me know they were on their way. The contractor who came was a very good guy. First of all, he had on his own mask, which is very important 'cause I have a husband here on oxygen and very sick. So he covered his shoes and he went beyond his duty. He showed me a lot of things that were wrong that he didn't have to show me. He was a real friendly, professional guy. So far, the air conditioner has been going fine.
One thing I like about AHS is they do follow up. Then, the problem I had with the air conditioner, I like the fact that they didn't charge me again to send him out here. If they had a problem, they just corrected it. That means a lot when you are on a budget and it's good for a person like me that's on retirement. The repair has been wonderful because I have husband that's asthmatic. He's on oxygen and has OD. We couldn't stay in his house with no air. Unfortunately, when the air went out, God is good, he went to the hospital. It was unfortunate, but he didn't have to stay here during this heat. American Home Shield, I gotta give them credit. They were sending the contractor, but he couldn't be here till 2:00. But somebody worked with me and got someone here the next day. I recommended my daughter to have AHS. My sister has it too. The AC unit in my home stopped working. I created a service request to American Home Shield and they assigned Main Line Plumbing to fix the issue. It took a few work days before they could come in. When they did, the technician who came was knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and realized that there was a part that needed to be replaced. He fixed the unit temporarily and did a workaround. My AC unit was continuously running for two weeks 'til the date they said they would come back with the needed part. It took more than two weeks before they could find a replacement. They came back and replaced what I had and now the unit is working fine.
Considering what I've gone through in the past with AHS, my experience with this claim has been much better. I'm not too unhappy with the way the techs from Main Line worked. They were efficient but the amount of time it took to fix my issue was long. It should not take more than two weeks to fix an AC unit. We had a workaround but if we didn't have our AC for two weeks, there was no way we could have stayed at our place. If I call AHS, they would only say that they have already assigned a contractor who would have to work on my issue. If I call the guys they assigned, they would say that they have already ordered the needed part and that they are only waiting for it to come in. That process is extended and they don't care what happens next.
Contractors should have a way to communicate with American Home Shield. AHS should then communicate with their customers about the problems being encountered and let them know what the possible solution is. What happens is that the contractor just communicates with the customer saying they are expecting a part and that is the end of it. They do not know what the status is or how long it will take before they fix my issue. AHS should be involved in every stage of the repair process. That process has to be transparent. When it comes to replacing whole units, AHS handles that well. When they tag contractors to work though, they don't have any visibility and they don't tell if the job is getting finished.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I've been in the house for two years. I've had the American Home Shield since I moved in. It was part of my closing. My Realtor set it up when I closed on the house, and then I renewed it last December. Our recent claim with AHS was for an HVAC tune-up. Clovis Heating went up on the roof where the HVAC unit is, and they used my hose to spray it down. I wasn't watching them the whole time, but they were up there for 30 minutes. They said there was just dust on it and that everything seemed to be working fine. I was told by American Home Shield that they were gonna assess what Clovis Heating had found or what they did. But, I never received anything back.
The only other time that I've called in was for my water heater. I'm single, and so even with me using hot water every day, my water heating bill was out of control, and then the reason I called in for my HVAC was 'cause my electric bill has been rising quite substantially compared to the houses around in my area. I'm by myself here. So paying $400 in the summer for electric when I'm running my AC at like 80 degrees, it just didn't make sense. So I called about my water heating issue and my water heater, and they told me that if it's not broken and I'm still getting hot water, that they can't service anything for me, and all they could do is send somebody out. I was told that even if they send somebody out, if it wasn't broken, then there's really nothing they could do.
The only reason I'm holding on to AHS is 'cause I have the base plan that only covers the big stuff. So, in the off chance that my HVAC fails, I wanted coverage for it. With the amount I pay yearly, it's worth it for me to have it for now. From the research I've done, HVACs are usually like a couple thousand just for the unit, and then labor. But AHS has been responsive and setting up appointments was easy.

I've had American Home Shield for five years and my claims have always been for my pool pump. It flooded in Harvey and that started the decline at each pump. This is the last pump I replaced since the flood. When ABNation called, the technician asked the condition and what was going on. It was hot here in Houston and he said that they really got to get on that before the pool would turn green and it was also my concern. The technician, Pete, called late that night and said that he'd be here first thing in the morning and he did. He also called when he was 20 minutes away. When he got out of his truck, he had a mask and he asked for a hand sanitizer and then he brought wipes. I opened the gate and we had social distance. I opened my gate for him. He needed a bucket and when he was done, he wiped it off before he gave it to me. He got the pool pump fixed. Overall, I've been very pleased with AHS.

The AC was blowing but it wasn't cooling. I called AHS and it was a prompt system. They sent me by text the name of the company that would call and Classic Comfort did call in a timely manner. I've been very happy with Classic Comfort. They've explained everything to me. The crew is great. They're still here working but they've been wonderful. I used to have American Home Shield years ago and then when I first bought my house, the real estate agent suggested a home warranty and I went with the company that they recommended, but I was not pleased with them. So when that ran out, I contacted American Home Shield again.

When I purchased the home back in ’06, the old owner purchased AHS for the home purchase. Then I continued with them for three years, and then they replaced an AC in the past. They came out and fixed my washer, dryer and my stove too. It was good when I first had it when I purchased the home in ’06. This time, being a client, I'm also very satisfied.
Recently, I called the main warranty service and submitted a claim online. The contractor came out, and then he went to the attic and found that I had a bad blower motor. Then since it’s an older system, they had to order parts. Then he came back about three business days later and then installed it. Then we're good, great work. He was great. He was an individual, sole proprietor. He was fast, ran inside and jumped in. I gave him a heads-up of what was going on with the system because I’m a little familiar with air conditioning. Then I said, “I already looked at this," or “I already looked at that.” The motor was making noise up in the attic. It stopped and then it started, and stopped and started. So, I said, “That's gonna be your problem.” I helped him out and then he went in there and then took it apart.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

The ice maker wasn’t working and we were able to get someone. He was very nice and he fixed it. He was very knowledgeable and seemed to know what he was doing. He came right away but he said the piece to order would take time so that was the delay. Other than that, everything was good. American Home Shield gets stuff done but when you call them, it takes forever for someone to pick up the phone. Lately, it felt too much. I had a problem with my water heater before this and I had to be on hold for 50 minutes, sometimes for an hour and 10 minutes another time. No one has that amount of time to wait. You have to hold forever. I'm trying to renew my policy and I was trying to call them. I tried to renew twice and it expires at the end of this month. Still today, I cannot get in touch with them because every time I call, I stay on hold a lot. Time is very important.

The washer did not complete a washing cycle and soapy water went everywhere. I had to clean that up. But the pump went out on it. Prosam Service's technician did a great job. He just didn't have enough tools and equipment to do the job. If he will work on something that has water in it, he should've had a bucket. He was working on my washing machine, and he had to use my bucket and I had to clean up after him. That was the only issue. Other than that, he was prompt, pleasant, professional, and very efficient. On the other hand, the dishwasher was clogged with old liquid dish soap. The tech removed all of that and cleaned it up, and gave me some advice how to treat the dishwasher. After I run a cycle, he asked me to put some vinegar in it and water. Everything is working great.
I canceled Home Shield because they're too expensive. They've gone up every couple of years and I know that I need it, but I just couldn't afford it anymore. I'm not working anymore because of the pandemic and I can't afford to pay the monthly bill. But I've had them for years and they have been great. I always enjoy speaking with the staff via telephone. Everyone was always professional. I've had one issue where the provider that was selected to come out for a repair did not call me within 24 hours, and I had to wait a couple of days for them. That was for my AC. When I called them, the female on the line was a little abrasive on the phone. She said, "Well, we'll call you back," and, "We're sorry, we can't get there right now." She didn't tell me what they could do. She told me what they couldn't do and I just didn't like that particular customer service experience. But that was just the only issue I had.

The fuse had blown on my microwave and something happened with the door latches thing. I submitted a claim with AHS and the tech they sent out replaced all that. After their initial visit, they had to order a part then they came back and tried to fix it. But apparently, the wrong part was ordered and they said something about American Home Shield's number. Then, they had to come back the second time and they fixed it. They were in and out quickly and everything has been great since the service.

Every time I do Home Shield, I have to go online, pay a $75-deductible and then tell them in a few words what the claim is about. What I found that's irritating is that sometimes if you need to get ahold of someone at Home Shield, it's an hour to an hour and a half long before you ever get ahold of somebody. Precision Door Service came out to looked at my garage door because it wouldn't open. And when they looked at it, they discovered that the actual wire had come loose. They repaired the wire, said that there was really nothing else they needed to do to it, and that was it. The other warranties I've used before don't pay a deductible until they come out. And when they come out, I pay it to them.
Some contractors are good, some are bad. Home Shield had the plumber guy come out for one of my claims. They were awful. I ended up having to appeal the claim because they rejected it because of what the plumber said. I had a leak and the plumber blamed the leak on water pressure which was absolutely insane because I had low water pressure in this house when I first moved in. So then, I brought my own plumber out because I wanted a second opinion.
That plumber, Metz Plumbing, checked and said, "No. The water pressure is right on the money." They were great. I ended up getting them to approve the claim and they had to send me a manual check. But it was a whole process just to get my money back. Long story short, I ended up having to get my Realtor involved, who got ahold of a supervisor of that warranty company that just happened to be the district manager, and they went through and got me the approval. The process shouldn't have been like that. They approved it. But if I didn't push it, I probably never got my money back. Some people don't know about it. They are told it's not covered and that's it.
Home Shield ought to fix where we could choose our own contractors. That would be the easiest way to do it because I've had two contractors for two different claims that were coming over an hour away. That made no sense when there is a reputable plumbing company that was 20 minutes away. And when I called them, they came out, looked at it, checked the water pressure, and fixed it that day. Every time I've had somebody come in where they sent a contractor out, it was never fixed that day. They always had to go order a part, come back, make sure that the warranty would pay. It was silly.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

We were happy with the plumber that came for our recent claim with AHS. He was great. The toilets stopped working. They kept running or they wouldn't fill up again. So he went ahead and fixed it pretty easily. He was able to do it that same day. We were really happy with American Home Shield too.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Any time we needed something done, we got it scheduled and handled very quickly. You call in, you get somebody. All the first initial contact is automated, and then someone gets back to you. But if my dad called and he got an automated thing and couldn't talk to somebody to get an appointment set up, it may be a little difficult for him. We were selling our house and the buyer hired a company to come out and look at the AC. He noticed this huge differential between the unit and the actual air conditioning. We put in the trouble ticket because we were having issues supposedly with our AC. Arctic Cooling Pros came out, did a meter test and said, "No you guys are fine." It was just a matter of the company that was hired trying to scam us into buying a bunch of work we didn't need done. Previously, but not with my current home, I got a couple iffy contractors that came out, but the work was done.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.
