My air conditioner stopped working and the tech sent by American Home Shield who came to look at it didn't tell me what the cost was exactly. I had already paid $100 to AHS to have that tech come out and then he was saying the whole repair was gonna cost $900 because I had to pay for the Freon. It was better for me to get a new unit instead so I had that priced. AHS offered me $700 for a new unit which cost me over $7,000. That was disappointing as one way, it would cost me $1,000 if I go with AHS but then the other way, it would cost me over $7,000 for a completely new unit and AHS would only give $700. I talked to a couple of techs and they told me that when the condenser or compressor of a unit goes out, it would be an expensive part for an older AC unit. Regardless, I'm disappointed that I'm paying close to $100 a month for the tech to come out and because Home Shield, doesn't cover plugs, caps and Freon, it would cost me close to $1000 when I'm done. If AHS would have fixed my issue for $100, I would have been okay with things. This is what keeps me thinking whether or not AHS is something I wanna keep.
More recently, my dryer latch was broke and they it wouldn't close. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Precision Appliance repair. The tech who was sent was a really nice guy who seemed to know everything. However, what he did didn't resolve the issue and he had to order a part and come back. While I've been teetering whether or not to keep AHS because of the issue with the air conditioning, so far, AHS has been good and professional.

Initially, the issue was the AC wasn't cooling the house so that's when we put the ticket in. We had a technician come out. He went outside and when he came back in from looking at one of the units, he said that their company did not work on this unit. The next day, Chesapeake Comfort Systems came out. The first day, the guy replaced something and he had to clean the evaporative coil. They charged me 175 bucks for that and we were thinking that it was gonna be working. They did fix one side. One side was working but the upstairs wasn't cooling. They came back out multiple times. Then they said it was a motor and one person couldn't get the motor off. They decided to order the entire part. Yesterday was when the part came in and they replaced it.
The issue is yesterday after he replaced it, we put it to 75. This was early in the day. Later on that night, it finally dropped down to about 78. When the technician left, it was on 80. It took four or five hours to get down to 78. This morning here in Maryland, it was a little chilly. The room temperature was at 75. I dropped it down to 70 and when I woke up, it was on 75. As of right now, it's on 74. If it is working properly, it would definitely be on 70 by now. I don't think it's resolved 'cause I feel like it's still not cooling properly. If you set your temperature for a certain degrees, how long should it take to get there? It shouldn't take eight hours for it to go. Also, if they had a little more information as far as the brand or the model of the unit, this issue could have been resolved a little sooner.

The AC unit was not blowing out cold air. Plus, there was a loud almost clicking noise coming from the fuse panel. The guy from Budget A/C, Heating & Plumbing thought it was the compressor 'cause it was trying to withdraw too many amps. He tested that and saw what it was, and he replaced that. Then that stopped the clicking. AC is working great. We also had an issue with our hot water heater, and they came out, it couldn't be fixed, so they replaced it. I'd tell others to look at the age of their appliances, AC, and heating units. If they're old at all, having AHS is a good idea.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Flowright Plumbing kept an open line of communication before the service appointment. They were on time and efficient. They diagnosed the problem quickly and had the job done quickly, correctly, and everything's working great. I was satisfied with the timeframe. The contractor had on a face mask, too. I feel great with the service. I'm happy. I'm liking American Home Shield's claims process. It was efficient.

We called American Home Shield for a microwave oven. It is over the stove so it also serves as the light and the hood fan. It wouldn't work then it would work then it wouldn't work. It was very frustrating and inconvenient. American Home Shield did send out Advanced Home Services and they said they could repair it. Then American Home Shield said they'd replace it. I've been trying and trying and trying to get ahold of somebody to find out what the heck is going on, but that's been a hell of an effort. Trying to get an answer out of anybody from this warranty company is like pulling teeth. I am getting a brand new microwave oven instead of them repairing the old one. I'm okay with that but I wish I could find out who's sending it and when I'm gonna get it. That's the big miscommunication that I'm having with American Home Shield.
My property manager out there has authority to call for problems and she was having issues. She asked the tenant who's retired so he has a little bit of time on his hands. He finally got through but in trying to do the follow up, he was very, very frustrated and so was my property manager. That's when I got involved and I experienced the same thing. I call the number, get to a person but they don’t know much. It must be limited to what's on their screen.
One time, they said, “I'm sorry, Mr. **, but it shows here that the the owner of the warranty is Ray **,” who’s my tenant. I said, "I'm the guy who owns the property. I'm the guy who pays for the warranty. Why isn’t my name up there? He's not even authorized to do anything. Why is his name on your screen as the authorized caller?” I was pissed off about that. I got that straight with the rep and she said she didn't know anything. She transferred me and it was a two-hour wait to purchasing and they don't give you a call back like the other number does.
I hung up and got a call back. I talked to a guy and he said they had been authorized to send a new one. I asked if it had been ordered and he said, "I think so." "I think so" is not a good answer. That's like, "I think it isn't." I asked, "I think it is or I think it isn't, which is it?” He said he didn't know. I asked if he could transfer me and it was the same thing. It was a two-hour wait. Then it just hangs up on you while you're waiting.
I called the regular number and I was on hold. It said, “If you press one, we'll call you back.” I did that twice and I never got a call back. My property manager says the same thing and so does my tenant. I have a different warranty company for a different property and I don't have this problem. I've had things done in the past with American Home Shield. The dryer went out and they sent a guy who got the part fixed. The air conditioning blew a fuse and they sent a guy out who took care of it. I had a water leak and the guys came out. I've had good experiences but this last time was terrible. I don't know if it's because they changed their call center to another country. The people don't understand what they're doing or not trained properly or it's too new for them to get their boo boo together.
Are you still in need of assistance?

The tray into which my AC unit's condenser drains into was backed up. Water leaked all over the floor and came through the ceiling. Home Shield sent South Placer Heating and Air to handle my issue and the tech who came to handle it was great. However, it was disappointing that the work that needed to be done wasn't covered because it had to do with the drain instead of the actual unit. Additionally, we have another claim for a different issue and their contractor hasn't gotten to us yet.

I filed the claim for the air conditioning unit on American Home Shield’s website and then, they connected me to a provider to come fix it. The contractor was very helpful and it was wonderful dealing with them. They were super busy because it's been a heatwave and everyone's getting it done. But they were there within the week. They were very apologetic. Since the repair, everything has been great.

I was having a problem with a ceiling fan, and American Home Shield sent someone out who diagnosed what the problem was. Although they were not able to do it because it did not adhere to my policy, I was not aware that that the ceiling fan had a lifetime warranty on it. They assisted me in getting in touch with the company and providing the model number and the information needed such that I could get the part that was needed to fix the fan. When the part came in, American Home Shield recontacted the person who came out initially with the diagnosis, and they came in and installed the part. I was very comfortable and satisfied with how they handled that overall situation.
There were also two or three times in which I was not comfortable with who was sent out and I asked American Home Shield to resend someone else. I didn't think that that that provider was competent based on their diagnosis and they did send someone else out. I've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years and any issues or concerns that I've had, they've been able to resolve. If they continue being able to do that for all of their customers, then they're fine.

American Home Shield is a little too high, but because we have an older home, it's valid. Two years ago, they had to put in a new air conditioning and they left us in the heat for quite a long time before we could get a new unit. I was not happy with that at all and I'm still stringing over it, but this time, my experience was great. I tried to submit my claim over the phone because I like to talk to somebody. However, I could not get anybody, so I went online and I was very pleased. It's very easy and it went a lot quicker than I thought. I was scheduled the next day and then Elite Appliance came immediately when I called. They ordered my part, came right back and put them in. Everybody I dealt with was very kind and expedient. Their service was great as well and they stayed away and didn't approach me because of COVID.

American Home Shield is fantastic. I've had to use them twice and both times, the situation has been rectified within 24 hours. Also, their website is very easy to navigate. We had an AC claim on a Sunday and Ambient Air Heating was out here by Monday. It was a little tougher in Tucson ‘cause it was so hot. The technician had to get another part and one of his coworkers had it. After a couple of hours, he came back and it was fine.

I got discouraged with the home warranty I had been with for a while. They had come out and fixed some plumbing like faucets. But maybe the policy changed or they changed things that they no longer did that service. My daughter-in-law was with American Home Shield which she also recommended to her mom and dad. She told me about the company too and I gave them a try. The only thing is that she stated that she paid $75 for when someone would come out every time the service was initiated but I pay $100. My daughter-in-law told me that even her parents don't pay what I pay. I'm like maybe American Home Shield signed me up for the highest plan.
American Home Shield sent out LA Appliance Service for my icemaker and my washer. They were great. Their tech came out two or three days after my claim was made and he was an hour early. He looked at what was needed and he ordered parts. The parts were the ones that took the longest for them to have. They were supposed to be scheduled to come out and I waited all day. I then called their office and asked them if somebody was supposed to come out. The girl apologized and said that the parts didn't come in yet. They would call me on the day they do come. That was a little bit annoying.
But for the most part, the gentleman that serviced the washing machine and the refrigerator was very professional and courteous. He was being safe and was using his mask and gloves. I was pretty happy with them. Everything's functioning just fine. The only thing is I was wondering why American Home Shield couldn't get someone that was in Kern County, like in Bakersfield, to come out.

My wife heard a loud thump and the drum of our dryer stopped moving. I called American Home Shield and explained the situation to their tech when he got here. He was confident he knew what the issue was and went right to the source. The problem was that the pulley and belt had stopped. The thump my wife heard was the sound of the belt breaking and hitting the top of the dryer. Everything has been okay since the tech came in. AHS did a good job for us.

I love American Home Shield. The guy was on time and he was really good at getting the job done. I thought that the hot water heater had went out, but it turns out that the breaker had flipped when the storm hit. He told me what the problem was and he fixed it quite quickly.

With this claim, everything went well. The person came out, was very professional, solved the issue really quickly, educated me a bit about what the issue was, and lasted less than half an hour. He had a mask on, and they also had gloves on. However, my claim prior to that did not go well. The problem was with a basement drain. It was backing up. The tech cleared that out and they thought it was coming from the air conditioner because it was extremely humid and off of our AC pipe. It was like a flowing little river. Once all of that cleared up, I then found out that the water heater, which is next to it, is now leaking.
I put a claim in on a Monday a couple of weeks ago. I expected someone to call on that, but no one called. I finally called the company that was supposed to come out to look at the water heater. They came out last Wednesday. They were supposed to call before they came, which gives us time to put masks on and stuff, but they did not. They just showed up. It took about five minutes to look at the issue and the tech decided that it was leaking and that it needed to be replaced.
I called that company back a couple of days later saying I haven't heard when they will come out, and they had explained to me the process that Home Shield orders the tank, and when it's in, then they would give me a call. And I still haven't got a call. And now, it looks like it's leaking in two spots on the water heater. I was gonna wait until this afternoon to give them a call to see what the update is on that. But I haven't received any emails or anything regarding that one. That company does not seem quick at all. Hopefully when they come in, everything can be resolved quickly. It's making me nervous now that it has been over two weeks that we've seen that it has been leaking and I'm trying to get it replaced before I have a catastrophic dumping of water in my finished basement. Other than that, I've had several claims in the past and every other company seemed quick.

I called on a Friday morning and Arizona Trade Masters came out that day and fixed the AC. But two days later, it broke again. It was a different issue so I can't necessarily blame them for that. This happened Saturday night so I called AHS first thing Sunday morning on their emergency line. It was around 10:00 and I waited till noon. I didn't hear anything. I called them again at noon and whoever answered the call told me they would have somebody contact me within the next hour.
The wait times are ridiculous. I sat on hold for at least an hour every time I called them. Then 2:00 rolls around and I called back. I sat on hold and got through to somebody. They said they were gonna contact three different people from their list and one of them should contact me. So I waited another two hours. Nobody contacted me so I called back again. This is now somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00 on Sunday. I told them that I needed to get my AC fixed. I have animals and a kid. I couldn't sleep or leave animals at the house in 100-degree weather. They said they have extinguished all of their resources. At this point, I needed to contact and find somebody on my own and then call back and get approval for them to fix it.
I called and called and called and called and finally got through to somebody. This was now 7:30-ish and they showed up at my house. I tried calling AHS. I sat on hold for 35 minutes and I was over it. I was gonna deal with them later. So I had the tech fix it and I paid the bill. I called AHS the next day, which would have been a Monday, to try to work it out. They said they would have to have somebody call me back but nobody called me back. I called again on Tuesday and said that I needed to talk to a manager. I sat on hold for an hour and 45 minutes and the phone got disconnected because they were gonna three-way somebody and no one did. After that, I had my girlfriend call because there was no use in me calling. I was all worked up. She got it to where we emailed in the copy of the invoice for the repair because the fan motor went out. From this point forward, I haven't heard anything back from AHS and I'm out of pocket $1,000 on it.
When I had an electrical issue in my kitchen, AHS sent somebody out and fixed it right away. Everything went great there. So when my bill came around the next year to renew it, I renewed it even though I paid them more than it costs for them to have the outlet fixed the first year. But they took care of it. They did great the first time I dealt with AHS and the first air conditioner problem. But now, I'm waiting to hear back if they are refunding me the $1,000 that I had to dish out to get my air conditioner fixed on a Sunday. I paid them the $600 a year right away. They don't gotta wait for it. But I'm stuck in this predicament. I understand it was on a Sunday but we're two weeks from then and I haven't heard a thing. At this point, depending on how this situation goes, I'm probably gonna look for a different home warranty program.

The air conditioner wasn't blowing any cold air although the compressor was working. When we made the call to American Home Shield, it was entirely done by automation. There was a follow-up email that suggested that we would hear from the contractor within a certain number of working days. But we called on the weekend and the contractor arrived within the prescribed number of working days. It was a very good visit. The gentleman was efficient, came on time, did the right thing and fixed the problem. We decided that in the future, we might wish to have his company, Sweet Mountain Air Cooling & Heating.

This is my first time with American Home Shield and the first contractor that represented them left such a bad taste. He came to my home, went in the attic, and left stuff unhooked. He did part of some outside and left some as well. By the time I called American Home Shield, they tried to contact him. That took more time, and then they couldn't reach him. He wouldn't return their phone call and I couldn't reach him as well.
I was trying to get American Home Shield to give me somebody new and it went almost a month before I could get a new vendor. That's the only issue I had with them. I had to call them and I didn't think that it was my responsibility to call them over and over again, or to have to call the contractor. I was ready to cancel. On the other hand, the American Home Shield people that I spoke to were very courteous and helpful. They couldn't do any more than they could as far as the telephone was concerned. Also, the second contractor they sent was excellent and I certainly enjoyed them better than I did the first one.
TC Homes called, stayed in touch and let me know when they were gonna come out. They also called me and told me when the part was in and when they were gonna put it in. They then came, put it in, and my AC has been 72 degrees ever since. They were courteous and they made sure that everything was properly working before they left. They ended up replacing the handler up in the attic and they did professional work.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield regarding my refrigerator was very easy. Accord Appliance came on their behalf and the young techs from there wore masks and maintained their distance. For an electric issue I had, American Home Shield assigned my claim to GJC Electric and they were excellent. It was a minor repair that needed to be done. The guy showed up on time and did the repair. It's working fine now. GJC was the second company that came. The tech from the first company that showed up on Saturday afternoon at three o'clock was from a different state. He seemed rushed. I thought the repair was fixed correctly but it wasn't.
I called him on Monday and he said that my unit needed a whole new circuit panel to run back to the circuit breaker box, which I knew wasn't accurate. The house is relatively new. It's 22 years old. It’s according to code and everything was permitted in code when they built the house. There was no way that it wasn't run properly. I asked how he knew what the code is for Deptford Township. He said he didn't know but he was pretty sure that that was what was going on. It's like, “Well, you're from a different state. You're from Pennsylvania. You're not from New Jersey, and you tell me what you know, that the local Code requires to have a direct line all the way to the circuit breaker panel?” He sent me an estimate for $1,100 dollars to do it.
And American Home Shield is horrible. They wanted to charge me an extra $100 for a second opinion when I knew that the first opinion was inaccurate. Also, with their call center to get someone through, you wait on the phone for about an hour. The people are in a foreign country. I asked to escalate the call and speak to someone else. I wanted to speak to someone in the US and they said that wasn’t possible. I had to wait 50 minutes on two different occasions to speak with someone just to have them read canned responses to me on the telephone. The reason why I went with American Home Shield was because they were more expensive. I thought that the service would be a little better in terms of just being able to speak with someone and explain what was going on. Is this really difficult? It's very distasteful and I'm not happy with it at all.
Thank you for contacting us in regards to the electrical issue you have faced. We do appreciate you for sharing your experience. We would be more than happy to assist in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

A few weeks later, the air conditioner arrived and McCormick came back out and put it in. The first gentleman who came and the guy that installed it wore a mask. I couldn't have asked for a better experience all the way around.
I did my claim over the phone and it was a super easy process. They quickly got on it and they put me in contact with the McCormick. That was my third claim through American Home Shield. I've had to repair my garage door opener and also the icemaker on my refrigerator. So I've had very good luck with them. I've been very satisfied. American Home Shield is very handy to kinda have one-stop shopping. I'm still learning how it all works and their services because I'm new at this, but it's like every single thing is a separate charge. I had put in another claim today because I inherited a washer with the house and sometimes it doesn't do it on every load. But about every third load, it's overflowing water on the floor. I also had to have the stove fixed. But I didn't realize that I could have two appliances worked on on one service order so every time I have one thing, I'm having to call in a new service order. I got one service call that I have not been able to resolve as of yet. I was on the phone with them this morning regarding it. And I don't really know what the outcome was because I got put on hold, and I couldn't stay on hold. I had to take another call. The guy came through at the appointed time that they said they were gonna come and they were very efficient. The guy got my air back to working and running within an hour. We were very pleased with it.
American Home Shield's claim process is pretty easy as far as going online and typing things in. It usually comes back really quickly and I get a email confirmation and a text message. It's pretty efficient. The only thing with Americna Home Shield is if the service is not gonna be covered under the warranty that the service technician sees is a problem, then the service fee should be refundable. I got American Home Shield's three-in-one coverage where it kinda hits everything. There was one circumstance where my garage door wouldn't open up and they sent someone out. I paid the service fee, which was $100 at the time.
When the person came out, it turned out that the material needed to be replaced but the part was not covered by American Home Shield. I had to pay out of my pocket to that company for them to do that service, plus they still kept my $100 service fee for American Home Shield. Other than that, it's better to have a home warranty than not to have one. If something happens, you'll be regretting once you have to come out of your pocket thousands of dollars.

The AC is supposed to be working but the contractor couldn’t repair it. American Home Shield will repair and provide the parts but I have to pay the technician and it’s a big amount. It’s $950, which is too much money. So, AHS gave me another option to see if I would qualify for a cash out to see which one would be better for me and more convenient. I’ve been waiting for the answer to see if that will be worth it or will be less money if I find a different technician who would charge me less money. This technician wanna do some modifications but they were too many because the air conditioner was working okay. It has been almost two months and those were the hottest months.
I've been happy with American Home Shield for so long. I’ve been using them for three years and this is the first time that it has taken longer. I understand about the Covid but we have suffered so much heat. That was my son’s apartment so he had to go to my house and stay there. I told AHS to put in an air conditioner and to make a hole in the hole is better. He will be in his private zone. So, that was what we were gonna do. But when I called AHS, the other air conditioner, because it was too hot, broke down as well. We were looking everywhere for air conditioners but Lowe’s, Home Depot and Costco didn’t have air conditioners in that point of time when we tried to reach one. American Home Shield has always been so fair with me and this is the only time that they’re being kinda slow.

Competition Pool & Spa came out and fixed the leak. And then the tech told me to check it in a couple of days. It may leak and it may be something else. So, in a couple of days, it still was leaking. I called them back. They asked me to contact Home Shield again to reopen the claim because they had already closed it out, that there would be no additional charge since it was the same claim. We did that through Home Shield, they came out a few days later, fixed the problem, let us know everything and it was great. That time was great. We had some troubles our last go around with them concerning our washing machine, that took quite a bit of time, but problems do come. We've been with Home Shield for quite a long time. We run into a few challenges, but somehow the frustration always seem to end up on the positive note, so we’re good.

The tech from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas got the AC fixed really fast. I called on Sunday morning and they came Monday. Then it took the tech probably 20 minutes to get it fixed. After making a claim with American Home Shield, it took a day for their contractor to schedule us for service. Someone with Mister Plumber came out and unclogged the bathtub. The bathtub has been working since. The tech was good and he was here when we expected him to be here. He knew what he was doing and did the work. The tech also had a mask on and he had some little booties on his shoes.
American Home Shield's service has been fine and so was submitting a claim to them. I just give them a call. It's really easy. But we're waiting on them for another issue we're having. There's a water line break in our house and water is leaking up to our floors. We're waiting for American Home Shield to get results from the second plumber they sent out. Overall, my recent claim regarding my AC unit with AHS went well. It appeared that the issue has been resolved and I was able to get everything done, and no problems yet. The contractor was really good and has good customer service. He came when he said he was gonna come, resolved the issue, talked to me about why he thought the issue was there and how it occurred. He left his information, saying, "Hey, if it ever happens again, reach out to me. Let me know." It was him and his assistant and they both had masks on. They also asked to take their shoes off, but I told them it was okay, they could come here with shoes on.
I was a little skeptical at first with AHS 'cause I was thinking, "Oh, another insurance plan to keep up with." But they are straightforward with the price. It came out to what it was gonna be. I was already looking at other stuff that had to be replaced, coolant, what my estimated out of pocket would be, and everything was straight up.

There was an electrical issue with our garbage disposal. It's got an on-off switch and some of the wirings had come out from the switch so the contractors replaced the switch. The website of AHS was good when we submitted a claim for it. When I put in the request, I received an email and a text that the contractors would reach out within a certain time frame. They did and then they gave me when they would be out, and then before they came, they called me when they went on their way.
The service provided by the contractors was perfect. We had issues with some outlets before and it was the same people that had come out before. It was great. We've had no issues since they came out. The garbage disposal from time to time, when things get down in there, the sink will back up. So having the garbage disposal that cleaned that up definitely helps prevents us from having to do any plumbing work. Our experience with AHS has been fantastic. It's helped us cover a lot of unforeseen random things that we wouldn't have expected to happen when we got it when we bought the house.

I've always liked American Home Shield especially the security of knowing that things are gonna get fixed or replaced. A lot of people can't afford giant appliances if it goes bad. So it's nice knowing that it can be taken care of and it's usually a fast turnaround. Affordable Services did good on my washer and dryer claim. My washer and dryer would rattle which might be a sign that something was wrong. But it made that since the day we had it delivered. Then for some reason, my washing machine sucked the rubber boot off and cut the rubber boot. They had to order a new rubber boot. It took about a week, from the time they came out and then order the part and then came back and fixed it. I'm pretty satisfied and now, it doesn't make any noise. I only had one bad experience and that was with Sears.
When we bought the house in 2013, we had a stove. The stove was already in. The heating coil went out. But since the time that we had it, the timer dials just quit working and it never worked normally. But the guy from Sears who was out here was talking down to my wife 'cause I wasn't in the house. He said that they were preexisting conditions. My wife was saying that the bake on it went out. When we tried to explain it to him, it was in two steps. But then they were trying to treat it as two different trouble tickets. It's one oven. The tech was very rude to my wife. So I called American Home Shield and said that I didn't want Sears back in my house.
The Sears tech put the bake element together. But all the other things that we saw that was bad with the oven, the tech was saying that they were preexisting conditions. Then American Home Shield called back and said that since the tech deemed everything was preexisting, they were not gonna replace or take care of anything. But when I set the warranty up, everything in my house is preexisting unless I buy a brand new and then put it underneath the warranty. The technician was just rude and didn't seem like he wanted to do his part of the job.

I submitted a claim on a Friday with AHS for my AC and the contractors came out Monday ‘cause they didn't make that over the weekend. The timeframe was okay. It wasn't an emergency because they knew that I had an upstairs unit, so we just stayed upstairs for three days. But given the time of year and how many air conditioners break every day in the valley, it wasn't bad. I've had it done before and it took just as long usually, unless it was a complete outage. Then a couple of times, the contractors came right away that day.
The guy who came was really professional and smart. He was clean-cut, polite and took good care to put his shoe coverings on every time he came in and out. He was wearing a mask too. I had a bad vendor years ago for a water heater issue. I called in and let them know about it. He said he fixed it but he didn't. He didn't do anything. Then AHS was gonna send him back out. When the AC first went out, we called the company we have a maintenance contract with. They came out and they replaced one part. Then another part was gonna cost like $900 for them to replace it and they had to order the part. That was when we called American Home Shield. Island Breeze HVAC came out and everything went fine except that the air conditioning’s not working again. So, I've put in another call, and Island Breeze is coming out again this afternoon to take a look at it. When the contractors were here the first time, they didn't need to come in the house. They wore masks and they stepped back from the door.
I have felt pretty good about American Home Shield up until the last three weeks. We've kinda had a little black rain cloud over our house here, and our refrigerator went out. We have not had a refrigerator for three weeks. We've had three service repairmen from different agencies come out. The first one replaced a part. He said it was not the compressor. He replaced some part, and he said to wait 48 hours. When I opened the refrigerator, it was hot. He told me to keep something in the freezer so I'd know it had refrozen. It had exploded, so I had to clean all that out.
I called the company again, and they sent a different repairman from a different company out. He said, "Oh, this guy should not have put this part on here." It was either the wrong part or he installed it wrong. He said, "I don't think it was your compressor. I think it was this part. Let me order another part." That took like a week. He came out and put that on, but that didn't do it, because then it kept tripping the fuse. He said, "Oh, well, now I think that first part damaged the compressor. So, I don't do that work, so you have to get somebody else." AHS sent out a third company.
Now, every time they come out, they've been pulling the refrigerator out. This time, the tubing to the icemaker broke. The tech said, "It is your compressor. And we don't do that, so you have to get somebody else. And you'll have to get a plumber to come and fix the broken tube." Meanwhile, I had water all around the refrigerator. I have hardwood floors. So, I got that cleaned up. He clamped off the tubing. The home warranty sent out a plumber right away. They came like in a couple days, and they fixed that.
Trying to call in to AHS is very frustrating because you have to go through this whole loop of recordings and then wait to get somebody to talk to. Now, the home warranty is good about saying, "The wait is this long. Leave a message, and we'll call you back." That's very helpful. Also, the two people that I've talked to in the last two times were very nice. They were very helpful but not helpful enough. The first guy couldn't tell me anything. He did tell me that the plumber was on the way and that they had sent the referral, they were gonna give me a replacement refrigerator because they couldn't fix it, and that I needed to call the replacement division. That was a two-and-a-half-hour wait on the phone, and they don't have any callback. So, I have not been able to get through to them.
I called the main number again, and I got a different person who was very nice, but the connection was so bad. I could hardly understand what she was saying. She called me back again to try to make it better. She did confirm that the replacement order has been put in, but I have no idea what's happening with that. AHS has done some things well, but this refrigerator is maddening, so I wouldn't be able to recommend them right now. In fact, my son just told me they were looking for a warranty company, and I said, "I gotta tell you, I've got kinda mixed thoughts from this one right now."

The hot water tank would not stay lit. The pilot light kept going out. I called American Home Shield and spoke with a person. I've called a couple times on this issue. The first time, it was fine. They said that Wind Bender would be the person to come out. I asked if I could call them directly because I had no hot water. The rep said, “Yeah, you can call them directly.” She gave me the information. She said, “They'll schedule with you if you wanna expedite it.” So, I called Wind Bender and said, “When can you get here?” They got here the next morning to take a look at the tank.
It took them forever to get the quote. Luckily, we had got it relit or else, I would still be without hot water since this thing started. I still don't have a new tank. I'm not super happy to the point where I'm probably gonna cancel my home warranty with American Home Shield. When they gave me the quote, it was $1,000 out-of-pocket for me. It was all of these parts, and this, that, and the other.
I have a friend who's a certified plumber. I called him and I sent him the invoice. He was like, “No, this is ridiculous. See what they’re gonna pay you for your hot water tank. I can order you a tank, and I will do the labor for free. So, that was what I did. I called back to American Home Shield and I said, “What's the buyout that you can pay me so I can buy me a hot water tank?” The rep said, “Well, I don't know. I have to find out." Then it was three days later before somebody called me to tell me what the buyout was gonna be. He told me what it is and he said, “Oh, that'll be 7 to 10 days before you get your money.” Right now, I keep relighting the hot water tank hoping that it still lives until they give me my money, so I can order a tank and have my friend put it in so I don't have to pay $1,000 out-of-pocket for labor.
It was like they were charging me $275 for a valve. They were charging me $230 for a helper. It was ridiculous. This whole claim started a month ago. I would be without hot water for three weeks because there's no sense of urgency on anybody's part. Every time I utilize my warranty with them, first off, I have to pay $75 for somebody to come out even if it's to tell me nothing's wrong or just a quick fix. It's still that deductible on top of me paying the $60 some a month. All in all, after all I spend for what I get in return, I would not recommend American Home Shield to anybody.

Even when I talked to them and I explained something to them about this one particular air condition guy, and I told the rep, “Even I walked up there one day and I saw that he had left the thing off and I had to call him.” I told them, “I don't think we need to use this guy anymore.” They listened to me.
For my recent claim, everything in my bedroom, my bathroom, where the commode is, the outside, the lights went out for three days. I couldn’t put any plug in. I called and had the electrician come out. Now, all of a sudden the lights came on by themself and he asked that we smelled anything before it went off. I said, “Yeah, we had this funny smell.” He said, “Did anybody slam a door or something like that?” He said that it may be like a screw loose. When it got overheated, it expanded and didn’t connect. Then once it cooled off, and when we slammed the door, it went back together again. So he went around and checked everything. He said that since it was back on, he could not find it. But once it goes off again, then we'll call him, so that way he’ll come out and he’ll be able to find out which one is not working.
So the other day, my bedroom, the bathroom, the family room, the dining room, the hallway and the porch went out again. When he came back this time he said that he checked all over, then he went to work. He said this time it was the switch that had been popped. He said, “Probably it’s been turned off.” I said in the beginning when it first went off, my bedroom light first went off, I went out there before I called anybody, before I called AHS. I said, “Maybe, it popped, the circuit breaker,” because I had my other heater on.
I looked it all up and it didn't see them pop, so that's when I called AHS. Then he came back. I was telling him, “Go on at the garage.” It wasn’t popping like someone turned it off. He said it was hard for him to find it when it comes back on. He could only find it when it's off ‘cause then he could know which one it is that’s not working. He was explaining to me, he said that it was a screw that got loose, and when it gets hot, it just expands. He said, when it gets cold there’s so much time to do to connect again.

My garbage disposal was not working properly. American Home Shield sent out All Hours Emergency Plumber the first time and the tech unclogged it. The garbage disposal was working when he left but it broke again shortly after. I called American Home Shield again and they sent the same company out. It was the same technician too. They let me know when he was on his way. The tech was on time and was nice, which was the same that he was the first time. He saw the problem and the garbage disposal was replaced. I’m happy with the service.
From my research, American Home Shield had the most comprehensive packages and they covered the most systems. Their claim process was easy. I did the first claim online and I did the second one on the phone because I wanted to know how it would work if it was the same issue with the same appliance. It was easy both ways.

After submitting a service request, there was no follow up from AHS. Each time I called, I waited for over an hour. The service was declined after a technician reported my spa pump was not accessible. I challenged that, a 2nd tech reported the same (and they wanted me to pay an additional $75 service fee for a 2nd opinion). I took pictures and sent to show it is very clearly accessible. Neither technician bothered to open the panel to see. Complete refusal to honor the warranty.

Before you purchase call their claim/customer service # and see how long you sit on hold 888-429-8247. If you want to purchase a plan, you get through within seconds. It’s a joke that they even offer a 800# to contact their company. Who has over an hour to wait.. This company is a complete joke. I have been a loyal customer for over 4 years and I had 3 claims this year, 2 were denied. The only reason I stayed, I hate change.
This last one, I went over 3 weeks to find out it wasn’t covered. Waited on hold over 4 hours during that time. First contractor came out and didn’t have the tools, so they notified AHS to get a different contractor. They said AHS would contact me. After 3 days I had to call, twice, each time waiting on hold for over a hour. Finally get someone on the phone with AHS and she looked at the file and schedule another plumber. Two days later the contractor contacts me and IT'S THE SAME COMPANY THEY SENT OUT FIRST! WOW!!! This entire time, I have no kitchen sink, garbage disposal, or dishwasher. We did all our dishes in the utility room with the kitchen having a foul smell.
Finally get a contractor out here and asses the issue. Come to find out the “foundation shifted” and needed to dig under the house... $$9200 is what they quoted me and I waited for AHS, waited, waited, 4 days past and now I’m coming up on 3 weeks after I initially filed the claim. So I decided to call knowing I’d be on hold over an hour and I was... Then I find out ZERO of it was covered. Asked why I didn’t receive a email or a phone call. “We sent you a letter, you should receive in 5 to 7 business days." AGAIN...WOW.. Great customer service!
Since AHS covered zero and this new plumbing company wanted half upfront $4,600 which is what SWAT plumbing (in the DFW area), I decided to call a friend that owned a plumbing company.. Came out, was here for maybe 30 minutes, and fixed the problem. Cost me 137 but I lost the premium I paid AHS, the deductible I paid AHS to send out inadequate/dubious contractors, time on hold, and worst of all..the time I didn’t have a kitchen.

When I had no air, the first person they assigned to my case said they couldn't come out till the following week. The heat index was 105. So I called American Home Shield and said that it was not acceptable. I have underlying health issues. She told me to hold on a second and she was gonna find me somebody. It took her a while but when she got on the line, she said the company would be calling me within the next hour. She went above and beyond.
When the tech from Mel's called me, I told him that I had no air and it was hot. I was miserable and I have underlying health conditions. He said that he could be at my house in 45 minutes and he was here within 40 minutes. He rang my doorbell but then he stepped back so that I could talk to him within six feet. He fixed the issue in about 15 minutes and cool air came out. He was wonderful. He was very professional but he was also personable. He explained to me exactly what he did and he was good. I will definitely recommend him. But the plumber that AHS sent out here was a disaster. He was horrible.
I had a water leak. I paid my $125 and they told me the water leak was outside. I knew that it was not covered and that it would be out of pocket but at that point, I told them to go ahead and fix it. They dug up half my front yard and I was without water for four days. When they finally found the leak and fixed the leak, they left behind the biggest mess you can imagine. They told me they would be back to clean it up but that didn't happen. Throughout the four days, they would say, "Okay, we're going to be here at like six o'clock in the morning. We don't wanna disturb you." But they would show up at 10:30. It was a nightmare. It was a joke. Once they got started, I didn't wanna call it off. Also, I noticed when I sent the tech's check, it was to an apartment. He didn't have a plumbing office.
Most of the time, he would take other calls and leave his nephew in here digging. Then his nephew slipped and fell in the hole at one point. Most of the time, when he was supposed to be digging, I looked out and he was on his phone. He threw up in the bucket. Afterwards, I got a friend to come over and he power washed my driveway, my sidewalk and my front porch. I've had good response when using AHS and I've had nothing but good luck, except for that plumber. I've had dishwasher problems, oven problems, heat and air problems, and everything has always been fine. I recommended them to a friend and she signed up for the service.

I had someone come in to do the regular yearly service. When he was here, he was disconnecting things and when I went to put my air on which was working perfectly fine before he came, it was no longer working. He began act like he didn't know what he did. After I discovered he had disconnected my air and shut things off, I called my father who's an electrician to come over and see what did he disconnect. The previous contractor fixed it, put everything back together and made sure everything was properly working. But when he did the servicing of the furnace, he said something was wrong with it. He claimed that I needed all of this work done to my furnace.
I told my dad that I didn't feel comfortable with any of his assessments. I called American Home Shield to verify and that's what Wells Heating and Air Conditioning did. The guy came out and gave me great information for me to be able to tell if something is not accurate which is what it was with the other guy. They did a great job and handled the claim well. I've had to call American Home Shield twice for service and both experiences have been great.

My dishwasher wasn't powering on. I went on American Home Shield's website to submit my claim and though I found what I wanted to submit a claim, I couldn't find what I needed to know after the claim was submitted. After I fill out their form, AHS immediately sends out a text message saying that I will have a technician contacting me. On their website, their platform tells me to contact the technician. So, if I'm just operating off text messages, I could potentially wait a several days before I realize I need some intervention.
I also want AHS to allow me to choose which technicians I want to use. Their contractor from Lake Area Appliance came out to my place four times and did not fix the problem. I could not get anybody on the phone either. I waited an hour and four minutes and AHS is suggesting that the difficulty is due to COVID. They can't just blame it on COVID as they have to put things in place to alleviate that kind of call waiting time. I filed a claim early on July 7th and until now, my dishwasher still doesn't work.
Their contractor from Lake Area Appliance came to my place and lied to me. They said they changed the part needed but they did not. We could see the corrosion on both sides of the dishwasher. There’s a panel on top that has two strips that make up four different computers. That it has a separate computer to operate it. The replacement never happened and AHS should have called. I was on hold with AHS for almost an hour and finally I got someone. I told them that I no longer wanted Lake Area at my home and that I wanted to choose my own contractors. Home Shield makes their vendors buy the needed parts for a repair. They give them a break on the part but then they have to order the part through AHS. Any part could be had in a day or two. With AHS, customers and contractors have to wait on parts for three to five business days. So, if a customer has an appliance that is not working, they will have to wait a week to get their appliance fixed.
The owner of Lake Area Appliance claimed that Home Shield would not allow him to buy all of the parts needed. Someone from AHS should have contacted me because they can see that I keep going in their system. They know if the job order is complete but in this case, my issue is not resolved. So there is confusion as to what AHS accepts as complete and resolution from a consumer standpoint. When AHS sees that someone is ordering parts for the fifth time, they should be getting involved. Lake Area Appliance had been at my place four times already and no one from AHS had contacted me.
My washing machine went out in late July and the vendor that came out, True Vine Appliance, thought the problem was a certain thing and talked me through that. With AHS, when I get someone on the phone, they are accommodating even though they are not stateside. The rep I got said that what I was experiencing should not be my experience. He told me that he was gonna call me back but he didn't. Still, the reps switched my vendor to True Vine Appliance and immediately sent them out. Regardless, Lake Area should be removed as a vendor for AHS.

Also, he was pretty rude. But with the second guy, I couldn't ask for a better technician. He fixed the toilet really quick and he was real polite. I would highly recommend the second guy. Home Shield is fairly reliable. Sometimes, parts take a little while to get, not necessarily like plumbing where you get it fixed on the same day, but that's understandable.

I called in because I did not know what to do and the rep told me to do that online, so I did. It was pretty quick. The only problem I had, which maybe was something I just didn't read, was the company just had a short period of time with no one available on the weekends. So I went Friday to Monday afternoon without the air conditioning working. It was hot. Luckily, I had a backup AC so it wasn't that big of a problem.
I called American Home Shield to see if there was someone else that could come out. And because I already filed the claim, they didn't want to change it because they said it would be too much work to do to change it. Other than that, everything got done pretty quickly. For the most part, Home Shield's service has been good. CityLine's tech He called before he arrived. I thought there was a leak coming from the air conditioning unit, and the tech checked all around there. He was thorough. He wasn't just in a hurry to get to the next job. That was good. Also, he wore a mask. However, there's a lot to be desired with the follow-up. I got something in the mail two weeks later that one of my plumbing issues would not be covered and that was a basket strainer. Otherwise, there was nobody else. The plumber didn't call me back and tell me that would not be covered, and that I needed to fix it myself or have somebody come out and fix it. Home Shield didn't follow up with me and let me know that.
Also, it wasn't the air conditioner so it had to be a plumbing issue. I had to call back and I was going to cancel because it cost me way too much to find out where the leak was and where it was coming from. Also, the hole in my wall that the plumber put in wasn't fixed. I was really disappointed in the plumbing more than anything. I paid $75, and I got a hole in my wall and nothing was fixed. Nobody called me about coming in and scheduling the hole to be fixed. Then when I called to cancel, I was on hold for an hour. The first person I spoke with put me on hold again for about 10 minutes to look at whatever was going on, and said that she wasn't the person that I needed to talk to to cancel. So American Home Shield sent us a Home Depot gift card and I was able to buy a new dishwasher. My AC wasn’t cooling and it was leaking. I went through the appointment through the American Home Shield website. It was easy but I was able to tell them in detail only when they called me. When you do the claim, it doesn't let you explain what's going on. It only gives you a, b or c and you can’t express what the issue with the AC is. But other than that, it was quick. I got a text message from AHS letting me know the day that the appointment has been set. Then, I had to wait for a call from the contractor for them to tell me the time they would be coming out. So, it was a two-step process.
South Belt A/C & Heating, the contractor for the AC, had to come out a couple of times because the problem kept coming around. They checked it and they explained. They took me out there to the compressor and showed me what was wrong. They didn't just fix the issue. Everything has been good since the last time they came out. I haven't had any issues and everything's going well with the AC. Prior to them coming out, I was informed by another company that they were gonna have to change the entire thing. So, it was very helpful that South Belt came out and found a solution to the issue. The entire compressor did not need to be changed so, I’m happy with them. It has been a pleasure working with American Home Shield and it’s easier than I thought. The first guy who came out for an AC issue was very nice. I asked if I could get something in writing. He said that because of the virus, they weren't putting anything in writing. But he told me what he was gonna report. He said that he was putting in the report that I needed to get a new air condition unit. But when I called, I got a whole different report than what he told me. I even gave him a good review and that was not what he said to me when he left.
The first guy reported that my air conditioner was unrepairable and the damage of my air conditioning unit made it unreplaceable. They looked at the cage of the air conditioner and said that it was unreplaceable because of the way it looked. It’s an ugly duckling but it works. From them to say it was not replaceable made me mad. They said that it was because of the cage. But the outer part ain’t got nothing to do with the inside working fine.
It was like 90 degrees and I was burning up. I had to call other folks to ask what I should do. My dad took a picture and said that the wires right there were bad. That was what the first guy said too. We also had a guy come out and said that our answering machine needed to be carrying 24 volts. But we were only carrying 22. So that could be a fire hazard to us. He said that we would need to get that box replaced. So I also asked the American Home Shield guy if it was enough voltage for the air conditioner and he said that we were fine.
American Home Shield said that I could put an appeal and have someone else from a different company come out. This other company would not see what the other one had written. The second guy came out. He saw where I had gotten this little round piece and I told him that before I called American Home Shield, I had already gotten those wires replaced. So the second guy said that the only thing we needed was this other thing replaced. He said that he was gonna play around with those wires and put some new wires on and this should get the AC to work. The little bearing thing had already been in place. The second American Home guy stayed up there for about 30 to 40 minutes and he replaced the wires. My AC has been working since then, but I’m scared for it to run.
I didn't want to turn the AC off because I was in the fear that if I turned it off, it might not come on. So if the temperature dropped a little bit, I didn't turn it off. When I go to work, I just pray that it’ll come back on when I come home because I don't want a fire to come. Overall, the experience has been inconsistent. American Home Shield sent something to me asking me to refer somebody for a referral fee. But my son's girlfriend recommended American Home Shield to me. I asked them if she got a referral fee but that didn't happen for them. So I wouldn't refer anybody because of that.

I’ve had two problems and I filed a claim to American Home Shield. Our water heater was leaking. It was rusted and it went out, and they had a warranty claim come over first. Then they ended up replacing it and it was good. But as far as the air conditioner, we had left for a while and my neighbors let me know that it was not working. I went home and I felt it was really hot. The air conditioner was just running. The fan wasn't running anymore. We had somebody come out and they fixed it. Then it worked for a couple of days, and then it quit again. Somebody recently came out and fixed it again. We haven't had any problems with it yet. American Home Shield's claim process was all right. The only thing was just the $75 service call fee. It was a little expensive.

It was simple to submit my claim online and when I heard from Greenway, it went well. They were quick to respond and they were able to fix my AC unit quickly. I went four days without AC, but it is what it is. I don't think that they could have moved any faster. Also, I've used American Home Shield a few times for different things and it has always seemed to work. They need to cover water softeners though.

There was a leak in the sink so we submitted a claim with AHS. I was contacted immediately by the contractors. They just had to schedule something. The contractor that came fixed the problem. He was on time, was professional and got the job done right. We've gotten our money's worth from American Home Shield, for sure. We had a water heater replaced and that by itself was worth at least one year of service. I'd certainly recommend AHS. I'll probably use it again when we purchase our next home.

Submitting a claim was a pain because if I’ve had an email or something that has a secondary number, if I went on the American Home Shield website and used the number that was there, I'd still be on hold. It's ridiculous. The first thing I called about was just to get keys changed. I tried to submit that and I still yet to hear from somebody to come out and rekey the house.
The second one was the air conditioner that went out. I understood what was going on, but they only wanted to fix the specific part that was broken and they were not gonna replace it. The unit's old although at the time, the unit was a top quality product. It was my impression that they were gonna be replacing it with a bargain replacement product. Somebody spent $500,000 on a house, the expectation is that they would not put cheap replacement stuff in there. They'd only replace the part that's broken, not replace the whole unit. But I would expect that they would replace it with product that is comparable to what they're removing to the house itself.
Then the biggest issue is they don't pay for the refrigerant. The refrigerant is $60 a pound and they only reimburse $10. When using 13 pounds at $50 a pound, that starts adding up to a reasonable amount of money. I also don't like the way their system is set up because when trying to initiate the claim, the first thing they try to do is to get a copay out of you. My point would be, that would be great once we have defined the scope of service or what actually needs to be done. Other than that, with my recent claim, Hers and His Plumbing came out and did a good job. They checked and heard our complaint. They looked at them and fixed them, and there was no problem.

He had a mask on, was wearing booties and not a whole bunch of tools with him. He stayed in one area and checked everything. I had another issue with my washing machine and American Home Shield sent someone out. They said they couldn't do anything because I needed to move my washer. It was a double stack and I couldn't move it so they left. I ended up not using American Home Shield to do that and bought a new washer and a new dryer. Heritage is the best but the problem with American Home Shield is we call and wait for one or even two hours. It used to be within 10 minutes but there came a time when they kept me for three hours just waiting. I almost cancelled my American Home Shield because of that. When the parts came in, he got right on it so, I couldn't be happier. Also, he had a mask on. American Home Shield’s online system, where you can file a claim, is good. I sold the house, and then I reassigned it to the new owner. I got a confirmation of it by email. It was always a challenge to get ahold of an actual person from AHS, but it's just the way it is. The AC wasn't cooling and we weren't sure why so American Home Shield called someone in. The people that I talked to and the guy that fixed the AC were great. The guy came out, cleaned it out real good and I’m not having more issues there. That claim was handled okay and it was a pretty easy process. We had one that we filed a week or so ago and it was not a good experience at all. Our hot water heater was leaking so we called American Home Shield. It took a couple days. They got someone to come out and the plumber didn't tell us when he was coming. He just showed up when we were at work so he had to come back last Friday and did the work. We told him where it was leaking from. He said it was a bad valve and he changed it. But he was grumpy and rude. He complained about having to walk down to the street to cut the water off. It was not a good experience with him in our home.
I called this week because our hot water heater’s still leaking on the same exact place. I talked to someone about having someone come back out, but I didn't really want him to come out because we weren’t happy with him. He came out and fixed something that wasn't even broken. They said they’d see what they could do. The next day, I received an email saying that there needs to be modifications made to the hot water heater. He never came back out but now he's saying we're going to have to pay $270.
I kept asking to speak to a supervisor or manager about the problem. I asked the lady if she could give me the number and she said, “No, I can't do that because they don’t have numbers you can call.” I told her, “But you won't transfer me.” Finally, after about 25 minutes, she transferred me. She said if I get cut off, they would call me by the end of the day. That was Tuesday and I still haven't heard anything from them. Then I got an email yesterday saying the case had been closed but they never called me back. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody at this point. I couldn't get the $100 back that I lost and I just told American Home Shield to forget it and I'll just hire my own plumber to have them come out because I was frustrated. They said they could do a second opinion but I had to pay again to do a second opinion. I didn’t want to pay another hundred bucks.

Kings Plumbing Repair is the worst plumbing. If American Home Shield never uses them again, they'd do themselves a favor. I've been trying to contact American Home Shield for the past two weeks. They keep telling me the contractors are coming. They were supposed to be here on Friday. I didn't even bother calling them. I'm tired of messing with them. This has been going on for two months now. We had a stoppage. The plumbers came and unstopped it, but it took two weeks for them to get here for the original thing. Once they unstopped it, they created another problem. Now, I have no water pressure. I called them the very next day. I've been trying to get this man back at my house for a month. He said he was calling me. He said he's coming. He doesn't show up. This is so unprofessional.
I turn my water on in the front bathroom, and it won't even go up to the damn shower to make it come out of the showerhead. The plumber said, "Well, I didn't do anything with that." "But we had water pressure before you did whatever you did. So you had to do something. You're the only one playing with the plumbing." It is the worst. He also bragged, "Well, I'm the only person that service American Home Shield in this area." The only reason why I have to deal with him is because I've already paid a fee for him to come out. So now, I have to keep continually dealing with him. American Home Shield keep assigning him to me, and I'm telling them, "You will lose customers dealing with him. I promise you." Other than that, everything's been fine. I had an air conditioner claim that went fine. My overall experience with American Home Shield has been good.

They'd find the part. I said okay. Unfortunately, I only have one bathroom. As soon as AHS gave the okay, they'd get one ordered or they'd get one. The guy would then come back to install it. He finally brought one, took the old one out and replaced it. As far as the quality of work they did, they did good. It's just with everything going on with this Corona, they didn't have the part with them. The only issue I had was when Lone Star called to set up a date, they never showed up that day. The AC was not cooling the house and it was leaking Freon. I went on Home Shield's website, filled out a claim and sent it to them. It's better than having to call because you sit for an hour and 40 minutes to get somebody on the phone. And then, Home Shield had Myers Comfort come out. They let me know when they would come out. Also, the tech called right before he came. I really liked him. He was amazing. My main issue is just with Home Shield.
We have to completely replace everything and Home Shield is not going to help with that, so I have to use a friend that does air conditioning. Home Shield doesn't cover a lot of stuff and it gets to the point why do I even have a home warranty if they will not cover certain things? They would cover the part that goes on the inside. But I would have to pay for the coolant and some other stuff. It turned out that I would have to pay over $2,000. With COVID and all this stuff going on, I don't have $2,000.
Home Shield then said that they would help me and give me the cash-out option. I waited for a week for them to call me to tell me how much they would give me. However, I had to call them and wait on the phone for an hour for them to tell me that they couldn't do the cash-out option anymore, that they decided that it wasn't normal wear and tear. The house is 20 years old and the inside unit has been with the house since it was 20 years old, so that's definitely normal wear and tear.

The tech was a very friendly guy. He was here after-hours so he could not get ahold of Subcool to get their permission to replace the fan. He went ahead and replaced a fan and said, "We'll wait 'til tomorrow and call them to get their approval for it. If they don't approve it, then I might have to come take it out." Subcool called American Home Shield Tuesday and got everything authorized. The only issue I have with American Home Shield is they don't have any kind of emergency service like the weekends. My most recent claim was for my refrigerator, which was a follow-up to an earlier claim from the fall, where the water line burst. It took the contractor a few visits in the fall and then it burst again in the summer so for a third time, somebody had come in and repaired it properly. He was professional and prompt. However, earlier this summer, I did not have a positive experience my air conditioning that broke. We contacted AHS. They assigned a contractor who was out the very next day after we reported it. They diagnosed it and they had to order the parts. When I asked for a timetable, they said roughly by the end of the week, and that was Monday. By Thursday, I didn't hear anything so I contacted the contractor and they said they did not hear back from AHS to get the parts authorized. They couldn't order them yet. Keep in mind, this was in June. The temperatures are in the 90s, heat index close to 100, and so we've been in a hot house for several days.
I contacted American Home Shield and the person's English was not very good. They had trouble understanding what I was trying to say. They kept saying that they were reviewing and they'd have to process and authorize the parts. I asked them when would that be. They just kept telling me those and they couldn't give me any answers. We've been in a hot house and even if they authorized it that day, it would take several days for the parts to come in and then probably another several days until the contractor gets scheduled to come out and fix it.
At that point, I contacted my own HVAC person. They were out the very next morning. They diagnosed the problem, got the parts and fixed the problem in less than three hours, whereas of American Home Shield because they were taking a very long time to authorize something for air conditioning in the summer. I ended up paying both. American Home Shield ‘cause when they followed up with me and I explained the situation, they seemed very upset with me. I told them I couldn't wait any longer and it wasn't even like I was asking for my money back. They still got paid for not really doing anything. It wasn't the subcontractor's fault. He made some recommendations to figure out the line that goes outside. He was just telling me about that. He also made sure that he had his mask on before he came out the van. He had gloves on as well.
The service of AHS has been fine, very responsive, quick and the turnaround time is wonderful, as well as the contractors that have come out. Their reps have been fine too. I called when I submitted a claim. But with this last time, we figured out why I wasn't able to do it online. My ZIP code was off by a number. Even though I put my contact number in, but then it had me verify with my ZIP code, it would say, "Couldn't find my contract." It was very frustrating 'cause I was just like, I'm getting service done, so why can't I do this online? I was like, "Oh, it's my ZIP code."

I was having difficulty doing the claim online because I didn't have my contract number. I did a call-in because I had two different problems, plumbing and AC. I did one the one way and did the other the other way, and both of them were quick and easy. With the AC, the overflow thing was leaking, which it shouldn't. I called American Home Shield and they called DJ's HVAC Services. The guy came in with mask and was very polite and kind. There were a couple of boxes blocking the way up to the attic and he moved those. He told me the problem with the AC, it doesn't have one of those pipes where one could pour some bleach or vinegar down once in a while. He fixed it and did a great job.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The condensate line was plugged. It was spilling water or condensation on to the slab and then under in my hallway where I got the hardwood wet. Sirius Plumbing & Air Conditioning came out and I liked them. I tried to get them on another claim and AHS was not very helpful. I'm not really thrilled with AHS. If only they could handle their call center in the United States differently and to ask for availabilities to talk to someone. I was actually hung up on. The only reason I have them this year, which is my second year, is that I've got an old air conditioner.

When I bought the house, it came with an American Home Shield warranty. I had the same warranty on my old house, so I was already familiar with it. It's definitely helpful and it's nice to know that when anything breaks, they will come and fix it for a blanket fee. I put in a claim and within the next day, the guy from Kyka Tech called me. I was getting all the locks rekeyed. I told him what I needed and he was good about communicating with me. I sent him some pictures of the keys so that he could give me some options, and then he came out and did everything I wanted. Everything went well even though there was one thing he couldn't do. He even gave me some advice on how to do it myself, so I would definitely recommend the guy.

Having American Home Shield is convenient. I went on their website and put in a claim when our central air conditioner stopped working. That was easy. AHS had somebody here fairly quickly. The contractor was really good and they fixed everything right away that day. Their tech had a great attitude and was very professional. We have an older central air unit so he had to replace the fan motor in there. It's been working fine.

I own a bunch of properties and I spent out of my pocket so much money because I forgot I had American Home Shield. But I'm very happy. They're very attentive. It's easy to go online and book the service so that's helped me a lot. Recently, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out for our AC unit. These poor tenants of mine, every time this happens, they're out of AC and it's brutally hot outside. Yesterday, the unit completely shut down by itself. They've redone all the plumbing. The guy said the coils were spotless so I don't know what's going on. I put in another request last night and that company called me last night and said somebody would be over there today. This will be their third trip back over to the house. It's still not resolved.

Now, I have a problem with their contracted people because American Home Shield rarely approves to fix everything and they told me to call the people from the air conditioner place. But the last contractor they sent out was not good. They took the money but the technician never even came to the house. My daughter-in-law has been on the phone with them. They need to replace the dishwasher but this claim has been since June and we are at the end of August. But American Home Shield was good before this dishwasher issue. I had the air conditioning serviced by the company less than 2 months ago and the person who came over did not find any problems. Original Review: It is very difficult to contact the company! Hours on the phone! I had a visit to correct the problem of the air conditioning and less than two months I had a second visit with the same problem. I contacted the company and the associate (on the phone) itemized all the items to correct the problem of the air conditioning. The cost is above 1 thousand dollars for me to pay! This company has many great reviews on their official website but they don't allow any criticism to be shown. To show what my family and I have been through with this company, I came here to warn others to NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. When our toilet broke, and we called Home Shield, they sent a repairman to fix it. A toilet is a basic fixture in any house, right? Anyone would assume it would be covered. But no. The repairman refused to fix it since he said that it's not covered so what purpose is there to their service?? Even worse, he broke the toilet handle of the other toilet that wasn't broken!
And whenever we decided to cancel our service, it is always a 45 minute to an hour wait just to talk to someone from the Philippines every time you call. Getting a manager is an impossible task. We have been trying to cancel for a month now and they keep hanging the telephone on us. This has happened about half a dozen times now. We've spent hours upon. hours trying to reach someone only to get hung up on. Absolute garbage of a company and customer service is trash, not worth the money or trouble.

She only took less 10 seconds to pretend not to hear me and hang up. FYI. I was on the line all day and have talked to several people and no one ever complained there was any line problem. All calls I had were catered. I find it hard to believe that she cannot hear me. It's frustrating how we need to wait in the queue for such a long time while your reps wouldn't even have the patience to talk to us. Was advised by Quantum "we don't do Trane warranty work," and "thought" or "should have been" (and I quote), "It was reassigned to AHS." AHS promised to get a status and call me back two days ago, but no call back. Just called again and assured they will call back. I had a microwave oven that stopped working, they sent me a Sears guy who cancelled the first order on the phone because they placed a wrong order (wrong brand of the microwave!!!), that still got billed, then they had to reschedule, that also got billed. When they showed up, they had to order a magnet to fix it, and when they showed up bitterly and angrily a 3rd time they billed me again, so on my account there was 2 x 125$ billed and paid and one 125 that is due. I called 4 times to fix this and this is still not completely resolved as I still do not see a credit on the second bill and I am now past due on the 3rd bill. All because of a microwave that could have cost me less than 375$ if I just replaced it. Highly unrecommended, I am not renewing.

My air conditioner wasn’t turning off. It doesn't get to the temperature that I set the thermostat to. I put in a request through the American Home Shield website and it was very easy to use. It said that Cozy Comfort Heating & Cooling will reach out to me and set up an appointment, and their technician did. The technician ended up coming out twice because the first time, it did get a little bit cooler but it still wasn't hitting the temperature I would set on the thermostat. The second time he came out, he put a little bit of refrigerant in the AC unit. But he said that the AC unit was working but there could be other factors that might be causing it to constantly run like the insulation in the house, the windows or stuff like that.
The AC is still not reaching the temperature that it’s set at. The technician said that there was nothing they could do about it. They just let it go. But the technician did try to fix the issue. I totally understand that there may be other issues that are causing the thermostat not to turn off. Overall, American Home Shield has been great. I've had my refrigerators go out and they have solved that issue. They've been great about all the other issues that I've had. I have recommended them to a couple of my friends that are homeowners as well.

And then, the contractor would tell me when would be a good time. We set that up on our end so I know exactly when to expect them. Frontier's tech then came in, did his job, told me what the issue was and left. It was easy. Frontier fixed our freezer and our stand-up refrigerator. They sent us the paperwork to get the replacement for it done. This is our second year with American Home Shield and we had the three-by-three appliance combo, which is probably the best one to get. Normally, we submit claims online but we had to do a phone call the other day because we had two claims and it only lets you do one online at a time. I had some issues when American Home Shield sent out a contractor though. My wife was home and they did not ring the doorbell. They said they did but she didn’t hear it. So, they had to come back. It was a big mix-up but they fixed the problem.
It didn't seem like the oven could be repaired. It wasn't heating to the temperature that it was supposed to be. It said it was the temperature but my mother-in-law who cooks in that kitchen said it was not cooking the food at the right amount of time. The repairman was very good-natured and he didn't see that but he understood where we were coming from. He said it may be the part and he fixed it. It was something about the back of the oven. The technician also fixed the icemaker and he said some other issue that was not related but we may have to fix that in the future. Now, it’s the dispenser that’s not working. So, it’s a separate thing and not connected to the repair. It was a satisfactory experience with AHS.

But the gentlemen called that morning and he said, "I may not make it today, but I'll definitely be there tomorrow. Can you tell me what's going on?" I told him that there was a hole and he said he would bring a disposal with him just in case.
My sister was here when they came that very day and they had it fixed when I got home. She said the gentleman said that the garbage disposal had a hole in the bottom. I called American Home Shield and the same day, they let me know that the contractor had been assigned and would be contacting me. A-US was very informative. They quickly determined what the problem was and tried to remedy it but the system was too old. The work that I had done that first time they came out did nothing. I called the man back at A-US Air and told him that I still was not experiencing any difference in my home and that I was interested in buying a new compressor. So, because I had gone through American Home Shield, he was willing to give me credit for the previous work that they did when they came out. I went on and bought a new compressor and they came and it solved it.
I felt that I should have received more monetary credit for what I had invested the first time, seeing that I did not getting any results. And A-US knew I would not get results when they first performed the work. The man that installed the new compressor was very helpful. He gave me some tips on cleaning the filters and the vents, so I felt like he was investing me in the use of the air conditioner.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out for our AC. The unit was working and running, it was just a bad capacitor. Every time it stopped running, we had to kinda kick-start it. Once we had them fix it, they replaced the capacitor. A few days later, the whole unit quit. They claimed that to be a normal failure. I had gone onto the AHS website and did the still not fixed button then they sent the technicians again. When they found out and determined it needed a new compressor, the technician told me I had to call Home Shield. Home Shield discussed with me that they would not cover the full portion and somebody would reach out to me to determine if they would pay to have it replaced some X amount or if I wanted to continue with A-US Air.
It was very ambiguous when I was on the phone. I asked them to send me a bill in writing of what I would be charged and why I would be charged it, they would not send me that information. Then they said they would not take credit card or would not pay through the American Home Shield app. I had to pay A-US Air directly. It was very ambiguous on the side of American Home Shield. Finally, they called me back almost a week later after the compressor's already been done to discuss a cashout option if I did not want to get it fixed, that they would pay me some prorated amount for the unit. I did not get that call. I just got the message and it was already too late. They charged about $495 to replace the compressor on top of the home warranty. Now, it's been 28 days and the unit is not working again.
We've called them out on another AC unit in another property and they fixed it. But then it still doesn't work properly. We opened it up and found out there was a wire that shorted the contactor and had to fix it ourselves. They have come out and fixed other things for me previously, but it seems like everything they had worked on needed to be worked on again.
I'm dissatisfied with the current side of things. American Home Shield should improve on their communication and owning up to their repairs and initial investment. Nowhere in my original contract does it say that I would be charged for replacement of a faulty unit or that they would prorate a unit based on its age. It seems like a golden apple, it's just not right in the middle.

Andrew Farren Plumbing came out for my plumbing claim with Home Shield. The tech saw that there was water coming down and I turned the water off so it would dry. Then he went upstairs to the bathroom and all he said was that the bathroom floor is not level so my toilet was probably not seated and that it's not a plumbing problem. For him to say that my bathroom floor has to be replaced, I thought he would have at least lifted up part of the floor or behind the floor to see that the wood was wet but he didn't. I had no water in the bathroom floor so it was evidently something that was dripping down the pipe. Right now, I'm not satisfied. I wrote Home Shield back and I didn't get anything back from them. I've been paying for them for years and I've only had a few things done. This was very disappointing.

He was fantastic. He knew exactly what he was doing and was very professional. He couldn't order the part that they needed. It wasn't in production anymore. They can't repair the refrigerator.
Home Shield called to get the dimensions so they can replace the refrigerator or do a cash value thing. But for whatever reason, I was the one that had to provide them with the measurement. They could have just looked up the model number and found that. But I've been trying to contact them for two weeks now to try and update information on a refrigerator. They asked me to find the specs for it, and I did. I kept calling back and it has been a three-hour wait, and I would wait and wait, and then they would hang up on me. It's a little easier to get service if you do their online system rather than wait on hold for a live person. The first time I used the online system of AHS was this last time. It worked great so I will do that from now on. I liked it. It was very efficient.

My air conditioner was backed up badly, and it was leaking and not working. I did the claim online to American Home Shield instead of calling and they referred me to the AC repair company. This was a Thursday night and the earliest the company could get out was Saturday. So, I was without air conditioning for quite a while and it got bad inside. But once we got people on the site, everything worked out well. The contractor was incredibly late to when they said they would be there and they weren't able to answer the phone very well. They had truncated hours so it was not the best contractor experience. But the American Home Shield experience was fine.

My ice maker and my refrigerator were not working. I found the website of AHS easy to navigate and user-friendly when I submitted a claim. I didn't have any issues. It definitely kept me updated by email and text. The contractors that came were great. The guy had to order the part and it came really quickly, like less than a week and he was back installing it, so no complaints. So far I've only used AHS the one time and it’s been very good.

We had a plumbing issue and we got a handyman who does everything to fix it. He stopped the problem, but it ended up being a temporary stop. Then a week before we called Home Shield, I went downstairs to go through something. I realized that the commode was making so much noise. We needed to find a plumber for real. We had been struggling trying to figure out how we could actually find a plumber that was reputable and affordable. We just couldn't figure it out. Finally, my mom said, "You know what? I got a crazy idea. Let's just look to see if Home Shield will cover plumbing." So we called them.
The guys from High Priority Plumbing came in and they were wearing their masks and booties. They asked me if they should come in the front door and go through the house or if I wanted them to come through the bottom. They were nice and professional. They took a look. They explained what the problem was. They had the part that they needed on the truck. They installed it. They gave us the estimate and told us more about what they found when they were in there. Then they politely left, which was great in this Corona time. So far, I highly recommend them.
Having American Home Shield, we like the idea of not having to try to figure out all the things ourselves. We like having that peace of mind where when there are some major things go wrong, they potentially are covered and you don't have to come out of pocket for that entire expense. That peace of mind was so great to us when we first moved in that we wanted to go ahead and see if we could have that extended. As a prime example, my mom and I had no idea how to go about finding a plumber at all, but Home Shield has a network.
At first, we weren't really sure how the claims process worked. There's like a flat fee for using the service, but beyond that, we weren't sure how it works. So, we just picked up the phone call initially. To call Home Shield was a big hurdle that my mom and I had to step over. We're still not really sure if there's gonna be an extra bill from the plumber later on. But so far, we're good.

I've had a couple claims and I've been more than pleased. I've always called over the phone, gotten a live person, and told them what the problem was. When I called American Home Shield for the pool filter though, it was after hours and I could only give one choice, but there were two issues I needed fixed. I debated about it and I had to make a second claim. Now, I know for next time that I have to make sure I get a live person.
The people that opened our pool were the ones that originally said something to me about it. I said I would put that in through Home Shield 'cause a year ago, we took the pool and we decided to add it on. The guy said to me, "Oh, you probably won't get this one covered," but he didn't know what I had. He said those policies don't usually work, but he was making a general assumption. He was surprised that American Home Shield replaced it. So far, I've had three contractors out in the past three years and they've always been extremely good at getting here, except with the refrigerator. They had to get the part, but then I still had a refrigerator, so that wasn't a problem. We had a ceiling fan done too.

I had a washer claim with American Home Shield and they sent Sears out. It went pretty well. The only thing was the parts didn't come in on time, so it kinda delayed the process. I was waiting on the soap dispenser for the washer, and it took probably two weeks to come in. Other than that, once the parts came in, the team came back and was able to repair the units. The guys who came put a mask on, put the boots on their feet and kinda wiped the washer down a little bit once they were done with it.
They reached out to me through text and email. Once I put the request in, I'm assuming they were so backed up because it took them a week to come on site. But once the tech came on site, they had to order the parts which was another week or two. There were two parts that needed to be replaced. One part did come in the next week. But the soap dispenser took an extra week to come in.
Overall, American Home Shield has been okay. They could improve on some of the things that they cover and don't cover. In regards to the garage portion of it, they only cover the electronic portion of it. But if I'm paying a certain amount a year for support, and then the technician comes on site, you have to pay them a certain amount of money as well. As a real homeowner, we really don't have issues with the garage per se. The real issues we may have is really the hardware like the springs and things like that, and those are not covered. So when you calculate how much you're paying a month and a year, and then technician coming on site, you could have bought like two or three springs.
I've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years. When I first got it, when I had central air unit issues, the technician would come on site and replace whatever needed to be replaced. If Freon needed to be added, it was added with no problems. But since last year, that changed. So now, anything over a pound, you gotta pay for the Freon. So if the Freon is low, usually it's over a pound. So you have to pay $10 or $20 for the extra pound. That may become an issue with the hot summer and you pay the $85 for a technician to come out, and then you gotta pay extra $50 because Home Shield doesn't cover all of the Freon that goes into the central air unit. Other than that, they have come out and taken care of plumbing and appliances and things like that that I had problems with. It's worth it.

With my recent claim, the first day that the contractor came out, they changed some lightbulbs and told us nothing was wrong. It was something with the connection in the living room. As soon as they left, the lights turned back. It was still doing the same thing they were doing when they left. We had someone else come back out the next couple of days and he fixed what we thought was wrong, which was something in the breaker. They could have avoided having two trips if they just fixed it the first time. But they got out pretty quickly the second time.
I had American Home Shield for years because I have a home in Texas under them and right now, we're kind of mad at them. I found out recently when we were doing some research that they've been taking out two payments a month for over a year. They were taking two payments out of mine and two payments out of my husband. Part of it is my fault 'cause I hadn't been checking as close with my automatic account. We've talked to two people on the customer service and nobody seems to be able to help us or call us back. Yesterday, someone had the nerve to call to say that they weren't able to take the payment for the condo. It's like I have more payments than I need. Someone needs to call us about these payments that AHS has taken out over this year that needs to be reimbursed.
Are you still in need of assistance?

The toilet was rocking and it would not flush correctly. It would flush one time and then, you have to wait three minutes before it would flush again. The contractor took care of it in the same day. They said it was the seal that goes under the toilet. There was none, which was part of the reason why it was rocking and why it wouldn't flush correctly. They put a seal in. Also, the floor was uneven. It was cemented with the toilet in my basement so, they put something down there to even the floor out to keep it from rocking. American Home Shield have been great so far in the ten months I’ve been with them. People who are considering their first home warranty should go ahead and make the purchase because AHS is good at what they do. The people that they send out know what they're doing.

On that issue with Home Shield, they did great, but I'm still having an issue with them on my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I'm 95% happy with them. They responded quickly except for this one little issue since July 6. I called them for an electrical problem, and my breakers continually just go off. Downtown Electric came in and looked, did their job, and our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide are hardwired as well. They said there should be no reason why they wouldn't replace ours since it's an electrical problem as well. And they said, "Well, we just replaced your neighbor's smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors through American Home Shield as well."
However, it almost took two months to get the breakers done and we're still waiting on approval for the smoke alarm. I've called Home Shield numerous times on this issue. "Oh, I'm personally gonna take an interest in this thing. Take it up to whoever gonna supposed to be approving the work orders and everything and I'll personally get back with you." I've been lied to by telephone operators and promised phone calls. I never got anything. They were quick with all the other issues. "Oh, we're short-staffed." McDonald's is working, Burger King is working, I'm working, everybody's working. Restaurants are open. Don't tell me these big corporations can't handle a little flu problem and screen their employees. They have their employees working from home. This COVID thing is an excuse for businesses to use for sloppy business.

Submitting a claim with AHS was really easy. We were very surprised at how simple it was. I'm very digital too. It's really nice how it's all so we can submit it online. I'm not like waiting on hold. At first, we were a little confused when we had submitted the claim with AHS. Because I got an email that said the contractors were coming in two days. Then I got a phone call. They verified that they were able to come the next day.
Both of the email and the phone call listed the same time so I was like, "Wait. So tomorrow, not Friday?" She was like, "Yeah. We can do it tomorrow." I was like, "Okay, perfect." Then I never got a follow-up after that. The email never changed. So, the next day I called. It was the day that they were going to come. I was like, "I just wanted to verify that you are coming today. Like on the phone yesterday, you did say today, but I never got an update email. So I wasn't sure which day it was for sure." The rep was super nice. She said, "Yeah. It's today. Our system's weird. So I will just send an updated email."
When the contractor arrived in terms of safety precautions for COVID, he was wearing a mask the whole time. He asked us originally what was going on. We explained, a really brief overview and we went straight down to the furnace room. Then he took off the front of the furnace and noticed that the wires were not connected. We had someone put in a thermostat. Apparently, the person who was putting in the thermostat didn't finish the wiring job so they were disconnected until the technician was able to rewire the bed that was in the furnace. In general, we are super happy with American Home Shield. We’ve used them twice. So super quick and the issues have been resolved perfectly both times.

The blower motor seemed to fail and Total Air Care replaced it. The only thing I didn't like was the person was kinda afraid of me getting too close. He didn't show me what he did. But that was fine because I was not supposed to see that. He got a new motor because I saw him bringing that in. But he didn't give me a rundown of everything that happened. He said it was working and he fixed it. But I wanted to take a look in there to make sure everything was all right.
Two weeks prior to that, there was a leak on the outside unit. Another guy came out and he did pretty well. He replaced the piping. He soldered it and he added Freon. It's been working fine. The only thing with that one that I didn't like was he changed some piping on my stuff that if the evaporator overflows, I have a pipe running out to a pan underneath the furnace that it's supposed to give you an indication that something's not right. Then it's got an overflow switch that it kills the unit. That way, you know if something's not working right. But the guy cut the pipe and he put a cap on it.
He instructed me to put some vinegar here every month to keep it clean. But the thing is that maybe later on we might be renting out the house and I cannot just instruct people to continue to do that because they're not gonna follow through. I was unaware that I had to pay for the Freon out of pocket. I wasn't expecting to pay around 360. For the first time, I thought the warranty would cover everything. But overall, it was a good experience.

For a few days, our air conditioning wasn't cooling off. We would be sitting in the house and it would be almost 90 degrees in the house. We would look and the AC was running but it was still hot. We would turn it off and sometimes when we turned it back on, it would blow fine for a few days then it would do the same thing. That happened for about a week or so before we called American Home Shield. They sent another company out here that didn't do anything.
When we called American Home Shield back, they sent out Arctic Cooling. The first time they came out, they didn't know if it was the motor or just the capacitor, but they said that they would change that out first then they would come back and do the motor if it was still an issue. At that time, they said if it broke down again or wasn't working still, it would probably be the motor that needed to be changed out. They came out a second time and fixed that. Our AC has been working fine.
The only issue I had a problem with was the first company that was sent out to my house. That was not a good experience. The people from Arctic Cooling, on the other hand, were very professional. They had on their masks when they came and their shoes were covered up. They asked us questions like what was going on. The first time, it was two guys that showed up. They went outside, the guy looked at it and said, "We think this is what it is." When he took out a part, he brought the part back to us. He had my husband feel it and he said it was overworking itself. My husband could tell that it was actually switched out. On the second visit, another guy came. He also had his mask on and they introduced themselves. They had on their shirts, tags, and everything. And the guy said, he was gonna look outside. He did whatever he needed to do, came back, and told us he completed the job. He asked if we had any questions.
Everything has been great with American Home Shield. One thing that was a bit frustrating is the customer service rep that I talked with when I was having an issue. It was hard to understand. It seems like every person that I've talked to has a heavy accent. I was frustrated with the company that came out here so I was already frustrated when I talked with the rep. I know that was not their fault though. Another thing was the first time I called on the first company and the rep was trying to help out. She contacted the company after I couldn't contact them or they wouldn't respond back to me. She was able to get in contact with them and she asked me to give them another chance. The guy said he was gonna call back the next day but and he never called.
I called American Home Shield back and I got a different rep. She was pretty much starting over from the beginning and she wanted me to give them another chance. I told her I already did that. She was about to make me go through the whole process again. At that point, I asked if I could speak to a manager. I had to reach out to Home Shield and spoke with someone who said that it was gonna be refunded within a few days. But I haven't seen it back. That was probably about two weeks ago.
My sink is working fine now. The plumber said that it was ultimately due to the garbage disposal and they gave me some tips that I could do to make sure that it wouldn't get clogged up in the future.
