American Home Shield is good. I like it. Recently, Accord Appliance was sent out for the washer that was not turning on. There's a power but you couldn't lock it. The guy came with the parts and changed the door lock. He was excellent and knew what he was doing. The other one that I filed a claim for was the toilet. It was not flushing. They said the jet was not included in my coverage so I asked another company to do it.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

A dryer would not turn and when I submitted a claim with AHS, they told me they would give the contractor a call then the contractor would be in touch with me. It was pretty quick and as soon as they told me that, I got a call from the contractors. Then, the techs came out, looked at it, and said that they got to order some parts. They ended up coming over again on Tuesday and put the parts in. It took about 45 minutes and they had the dryer running. Since the repair, everything is working great and in order. But I had to call them to remind them about the Tuesday appointment. I would have wanted a little bit more communication, but at the end of the day, they still came out and resolved the problem.

I called American Home Shield for the first time since there was something with our toilet. This was the first time I called and I was not happy that there was a recordinga and I was on hold when I wanted to speak with someone. I ended up just using the automated system and that was easy. I was given the name of the company that would be coming as well as their telephone number. It was AJ Plumbing. I was told to contact the company which I did. They were excellent. They replaced the ring in the toilet. I couldn't flush the toilet before but now, I can. So far, so good.

I had AHS do my oven and my dryer. I submitted the claim online and they got back with me right away. Then, the tech came out within the next few days and he had to come back because he had to order a part. But the issues got fixed in a timely manner and everything is working good still. AHS has been great so far and I've been telling people that doesn't have the warranty to get it.

I had another service that I was not happy with at all. I switched to AHS and, so far, their service is good. When my AC had an issue, I submitted a claim and it was really easy. I did it right from my iPad and they assigned Aaron Plumbing and Heating, Air Condition to come out.

There is no way to communicate if you have any issue beyond what is available in their website. You have to call them every time with 30-55 mins of waiting for each call and then no communication back from them on what is next step. They will tell you what is needed right now and once you are done with it, there is another step after that and then another after. Why can't they share all the activities in one go or talk about it in the call.
I am using AHS for last 5 months and called them for 4-5 times and paid each time for different services. But for 1 that was my first issue, as their contract could not solve it, I have to opt for cash out (as they were charging 5K to repair). Now instead of paying 1K as per their contract which AHS should pay for that type of work, they are going with $725 and for that I shared all the invoice and now there is another request coming from their side to share certificate of repair work. If invoice is there then either it is not required, or if required, this should have been communicated when cash out option was discussed. Unnecessary they are delaying the payment with one thing or another.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

On 9 August 2020, I contacted American Home Shield (AHS) to place a service request for my heat pumps as I believed they were not operating properly. A contract company was dispatched for a service call on 14 August 2020 to assess the situation. The contractor discovered that the condensing coil unit in the 3-Ton blower unit was rusted over, the drainage pan was full of water and rust, and the float valve was not shutting the system down as designed. All of these parts are internal to the system and not associated with expected routine maintenance. Additionally, the overflow drainage pan showed signs of usage, which is considered bad due and a sign that the main drainage pan was failing to properly drain. However, this could only be seen from behind the unit at the drainage pipe connection.
Finally, the contractor looked at the exterior drain and identified that the discoloration on our roof was from rust originating from the condenser coil. We had incorrectly assumed that it was pollen or alga being caught and produced by the drainage water. Essentially, the condenser unit and associated parts needed to be replaced immediately and anytime waiting places greater risk on damage to the attic floor and roofing. The contractor submitted their findings to AHS.
On 18 August 2020 just after 6 PM, AHS send us an email to inform us that a decision had been reached and that we needed to call. We called and the service representative refused to tell us anything without the contractor on the line and the call ended without any information. We decided to try again with a different service representative and had much better luck. The new service representative informed us that our claim had been denied on two points. First 8 pounds of replacement freon (needed to charge the new condenser) and second the float switch. Though we did not agree with the freon, we didn't argue that denial. However, we attempted to argue the float switch as the referenced portion of our contract discusses missing or modified parts. The float switch is neither missing nor modified.
To attempt to better understand the denial and its effect on our claim, we requested the denial be e-mailed to us. The service representative told us that she could not do that. Odd, as AHS e-mails us all the time. Instead the service representative suggested mailing the denial through the USPS. Being that issue is urgent and needs attention now, not a week or two from now, we requested to speak to a senior representative or supervisor. The current service representative informed us that she would e-mail him our info and he would contact us.
On 19 August 2020, I again contacted AHS as we had not heard from the supervisor. This time the service representative added two more denials from the last we spoke with on this matter. The new denied items included locking clamps and some unknown modification that they could not detail for me. The total cost for the denials was approximately $1200. I again asked to speak to a senior representative or manager. This current representative initially refused my request. We argued the point for about five minutes again until she e-mailed someone she referred to as her supervisor.
We have not heard from a senior representative or manager and the issue has not been resolved. Any number you call associated with AHS or Frontdoor Inc (the company that owns AHS) results in the same telephone system answering that does not allow you to elevate your claim. When we started using AHS 12 year ago, they could be challenging at times but ultimately were able to get to a mutual resolution, but now their customer service is terrible and they seem to work very hard at not paying out on their customers claims. It has been almost 4 weeks and still no call from AHS. I'm sorry to say, but it seems that AHS has become a fraudulent insurance company.

Our air conditioner stopped working on September 1 at 10:30 pm. I went on line and filed a service request. Outside temperatures are 98 degrees the next three days going up to 108 Saturday. The assigned service provider Magic Construction Services was supposed to contact us within 24 hours to set up a service call. When there was no call the morning or afternoon of September 2 I phoned Magic Construction Services, but had to leave a message on an answering machine.
Magic Construction Services did not return my call by 10:00 am. September 3 I phoned but again had to leave a voice mail message. Again no return call from Magic Construction Services so I phoned American Home Shield for help, and was on hold for over 70 minutes when an operator answered. Her line was not clear so she hung up on me without asking for a contact number. I phoned back again and had the message I would have to be on hold for another hour.
I had this same experience last year when our air conditioner went out and the service provider assigned never contacted me nor returned my calls forcing us to go to an outside service provider. I tried to be understanding since AHS had serviced other less critical calls without a problem, but this is the second time an air conditioning claim is not honored and we cannot tolerate these extremely high temperatures this weekend but AHS DOES NOT CARE. We have had AHS for 20 years but it is becoming evident they are no longer the company they once were and no longer care or value their customers. I DO NOT recommend purchasing any service agreements with a company which will not honor its agreements.
Are you still in need of assistance?

There is no emergency repair line for customers. I had water leaking for a main line drain clog in the basement due to a faulty garbage disposal. I called, waited 1 1/2hrs for a rep and got hung up on as they answered. The service contractor would not return phone calls. Meanwhile had water flooding my basement. They are not set up for emergency service as they claim to be. I called a local plumber that charged $300 and arrived within an hour.
Also submitted a dishwasher repair ticket. Service was going to be 23 days later according to the company it got assigned to. Ended up repairing myself. Also had an electronic issue with my PC. Because the device is not in their little system they won't cover it. Don't waste your time and money on this scam. What's worse is I tried to call to cancel twice and each time I say cancel the rep pretends we are having connection issues and hangs up. Someone needs to look into this shady business.

I had a claim with American Home Shield for my pipes. There was a problem with the plumbing. I spoke with them and then I submitted everything online. The contractor was really professional and really good. He did a great job. He was super quick to respond. I had a warranty on the last house that I purchased in Indiana, and I had a very difficult time finding contractors who were actually covered under it. It just ended up making more sense for me to pay out of pocket than trying to pay someone to come from such a really long distance. So, I really appreciated it that AHS finds someone that was trustworthy, someone they approved of and someone that was local. It was very seamless. It's much easier than the last warranty I had.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

My original service call to American Home Shield was for two appliances. One was a dishwasher and the other one was a fridge. The issues have not been resolved. Although American Home Shield thinks they're closed, I reopened them this morning because the dishwasher, on the first run, it had another error message. So, that didn't work. As far as the refrigerator, apparently, the technician diagnosed the problem. Then the contract was somehow transferred to another appliance repair person. Techno Appliance came out, and they could not identify the problem because it's like a sound. It makes a really loud sound, and they couldn't find the recording of the sound. So, they said, “Once you've got a recording of it, we can make a diagnosis and come back out again.” So, neither has been resolved.
American Home Shield as a company has been quite responsive. Submitting the claim was very easy. I first tried to call and speak to someone, but then it was a 75-minute wait. I just went online, and it was really easy online. I'll never call again. AG Appliance who came to fix the dishwasher was quite responsive but didn't fix it. And somehow, the contract for the fridge got transferred from AG Appliance to somebody else, so it's been a little bit frustrating. I'm a little bit dissatisfied, but I have told my parents that they should move their warranty to American Home Shield.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

I had to call back and I submitted a repair request to American Home Shield. American Home Shield came back saying they're not gonna be able to repair it. I got a replacement offer on September 9th. I selected for them to send me an E-card so that I can purchase my refrigerator at Home Depot. So I'm waiting for an electronic card so that I can buy a new refrigerator.

My experience with my recent claim with AHS regarding the AC unit was good. My house has two systems so they struggled finding one of the issues but they kept coming out here. At first, they told me it was a coil leak on both systems, so they changed both coils. One system was good after that, but they found another leak. They said it was another leak that they have missed and they found, so they had to recharge the system. They came out six times for that unit, because they kept having issues finding it. They were always good. The AC would work when they leave, but then it would act up. At nighttime, it would go out again, so I called them again and they’d come back. They got it covered. They fixed it finally.
For the first time, I didn't know I could submit the claim online. But they told me and then the second time, I had to call because when it acted up again after the repair they did, I called them ‘cause I didn’t know if I should do a new service and they're gonna charge me, so I decided to call to see what they’d say about it. They said it's a recall. The service of AHS was good. It’s my first time with them. However, I feel like the call is somebody else and they use people that pick up the phone from other countries. It’s a little rough to understand them or them to understand me. Other than that, the service was good. It’s worth paying for it.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

The garage door stopped working on a Monday. I called American Home Shield up and I made the claim on Tuesday. #1 Garage Doors came out on a Thursday, and the young man did a great job. The problem was a circuit board. He had one, and he didn't have to go out and get one. He was extremely personable. He told me what he was going to do, and he did it. I appreciated them coming out so quickly. I'm 73. I still teach. I have limited mobility, so I'm in a wheelchair. So without the garage door opening up, it would be very difficult for me to manually raise the thing.
Louis,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I had an air conditioning system problem and the contractor that AHS sent out told me that my out of pocket was $1,800. So instead of that, since the full replacement would take $4,000, I decided to replace it with a new system. I asked American Home Shield for a cash out and I had to call 10 times to inquire about this. And every time, I had to wait one hour. Then, it got resolved in 30 minutes. Also, they never gave me the direct number for the people who are actually going to approve the cash out. They'd call them and say they were going to call me back, but they never called me back and I had to call them back. If I didn't, they would have done nothing.
After so many days went passed, I finally got a call from them after so many attempts. And they told me that they were going to give me $450. I had the AC replaced before and it was not $450. To me, what they told me was that the contractor said that out of 1,800, $450 was for the part. But that's a scam. If I ended up not replacing the AC, the contractor would charge me $1,600. So it doesn't make sense to me that I'd get 450. Still, I agreed to the 450 and the customer service rep gave me some money back, for the one month payment. But the main thing is, I wasted so much time to get that $450 and it was not worth it. That $450 doesn't cover for fixing that thing, too. So, this whole thing was really disappointing and that whole process was really bad.
I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and I have four homes with them. I know I have options and now, I seriously have to think about them if American Home Shield behaves like this. And maybe the other options will also be bad, but at least it will be cheaper because I'm paying $800 a year for the service. And instead of paying the $4,000, maybe I could replace the AC every year.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

The switches were old and they had new lights in it. They weren't compatible so that was causing the problem. He switched out the switches for us and it's been perfect ever since. Filing the claim was also fairly easy. I had to sit on the phone a long time before I got to somebody but outside of that, once I got to somebody, it was very good. I called AHS and explained to them what was happening that the refrigerator was not working and that it was not cooling. The door was very hot. I could touch between the freezer door and the normal door and the space was very hot. There were two contractors that came. The first one came and said something. Then the other one came and said something. Then AHS went to a specialist. He came and said something and then finally this was resolved. They could not fix it. So they had given me an offer to cash out $2,000 something. I was going to go forward and purchase one and I was told that I need to purchase and then send AHS the receipt of the cost and that they will reimburse me up to that amount.
AHS needs to respond fast. It took four weeks for contractors to even come out and there was no fridge working, the freezer side, so it was a mess. Also, when I'm trying to call AHS, I'm on hold for a long time to get a response from them. Sometimes they just hang up and they say that there's no one available. Sometimes it says that, "We'll call you back," if it’s available on the number that they give, sometimes they call and sometimes they don't even do that. Then, I have to call again.

The hot water tank burst and water was all over the floor when I came into the room. I called American Home Shield and I wouldn't want the first guy that came out anymore. I had a gas water heater and American Home Shield had me bringing in chimney companies to do some other something to my chimney that cost more money. I know with other people that have had theirs switched out, they didn’t have to go through all of that. Even the chimney company people never even heard of whatever they were talking about. They didn’t even tell me what kind of company or who.
I felt real lost on it to the point where I wanted to give up with American Home Shield because I kept having problems to where nobody was knowledgeable enough to tell me from point A to point B what needed to be done. I didn't like that I didn't know that I had to pay another $655 myself. Nobody explained that to me. The contractor was the one to let me know that. Then I got an email message from the company. So the claims person didn't tell me a whole lot of what was supposed to be done. I would have to spend that kind of money and had a chimney company come in to certify the chimney. I'm pretty dissatisfied.
I had another claim with American Home Shield and the contractors came in and then they left. They said they were going to get the ceiling fan that I needed. But they never came back. Then the lady from American Home Shield went to argue with me over the home. But I finally got them to reimburse me my money back because they were always taking my money. American Home Shield needs to do a better job of training their contractors. They're sending these people into our homes, even now that COVID-19 is going on. Those first contractors that came out when I had the ceiling fan issue didn't even have masks on. I wouldn't allow them in my home because I take care of a brother that has a medical issue. So I made them go back to their vehicle and get a mask.
I've had this service for two years. This is the first time I’ve had to use them and I feel like I’m not getting a good service. After I had the bad experience about this ceiling fan, the person from American Home Shield that I talked to told me that from now, they would get me the best contractors within the area. The second people that came back, I was glad that I got them to put the hot water tank in. I was very pleased. They were with the same company but it was different people. The man that came the first time seemed it's a job and you know how people with an attitude, I just left him out there to do the work on his own. I didn't bother him.
I'm not happy with American Home Shield at all right now. If it wasn't for me dealing with my brother's situation right now, I would already be canceling the contract and going with someone else. I'm single and I need the service, but I'd like to have good service. They need to talk to some of their people or the ones that when we first initially filled out the contract that if we had issues with it, they shouldn’t have to be arguing with us. I didn't call up to argue when I had the issue with the ceiling fan contractor but the lady that I got the first time was beating up on me. I didn’t appreciate it so I called back and got someone else that reimbursed me my money.

The water was flowing in the dispenser. But for some reason, as soon as the tech got here, it was working. So, he was only here for a couple of minutes and he tested it several times. He looked at it and looked underneath. He was very professional and had a mask on while he was here. As of today, the appliance is still working and I just paid $100 for nothing. I had another issue, which was for electrical, and the first company that AHS sent out was horrible. It was not their primary contact that they usually send out. I guess that vendor was all booked up because of COVID, so they had to search for another one. But the tech that came out from that company was here for a minute or two, refused to look at anything, wasn't wearing a mask, and was very rude.
Then, American Home Shield resolved the issue and sent out their primary vendor as soon as they were open to come back out. Other than that, AHS has been doing really well. Submitting claims with them has been pretty easy. You just log in to your account and submit payment, then they usually get in contact with you the next day or two. And for the most part, that time frame is not too bad.

I contacted American Home Shield to come and fix my AC unit. The duct was leaking. They sent the contractor out. He came in and said it was leaking because I needed $1,000 worth of stuff installed in my house. My house is brand new like four years old. I told him that it's been fine all these years. All the other houses are the same. I just got a leaking duct and needed a sealing up. I diagnosed it and I could have done it. But because I pay American Home Shield every month, I wanted them to come out. I told him to seal it up and he said he couldn't do that. He just came to diagnose. It cost me 100 bucks. I could have paid any other contractor a 100 bucks to come and seal it. Then he said he won't fix it because there's something else that's causing that issue. But there's not.
The first claim I had was that our dishwasher broke about four weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic, from start to finish. The guy came out the next day and he had spare parts on his truck. He was in here for an hour, he fixed it, and walked away. I could not be happier with the service that's why I contacted them with the AC. I thought I'm gonna get great service. But the guy that turned up had no intention of fixing anything. He had the stuff on his truck but he won't fix it.
I complained to American Shield and they said they would send another contractor out. But if the second one says the same thing, they're gonna charge me another $100. I told them to forget it. If they're gonna charge me again, I'm gonna pay someone else just to come and do it. I'm the customer. I wanted it sealed in and the contractor should have done that. Now, if it leaked again, that's on me, isn't it? But I paid for the service and I didn't receive it. It's been a terrible experience. I'm probably gonna cancel it 'cause it's rubbish.

I had a split mini unit down in my basement and American Home Shield didn’t have anything on their website when you put in a claim. So I put it in as a window unit because it's up there on the top like a window. Submitting the claim was simple but there needs to be something there when you need to add things. If you didn't see what your problem was on your claim, I’d like to see that you have the ability to put it in there and explain exactly what's happening. The claim hasn’t been handled but it was through no fault of anybody. The contractor wasn’t able to fix it so AHS sent somebody else, and they didn’t do it so they weren't able to fix it. Then, AHS sent somebody else again and the guy figured out what was going on but he didn't know if AHS would pay for the repair because it was a burned-out motherboard.
I’ve been with AHS for a little over a month. It seemed good and they told me that they cover the mini split because I did that before I even put in a claim. There isn’t any sense of putting a claim in if they're not gonna cover it but they said they do. They’ve gone out of their way to try to get it resolved but with what I was able to put on the claim and the information they had, it's a suspense. But the tech came out yesterday morning and I'm just waiting on AHS to call me back to tell me what they're gonna do. Still, I would recommend AHS because they've gone out of their way to try to help. They haven't ignored me. It's more of the website not having the ability to give them all the correct information.

I've been with American Home Shield for some years now and the only problem that I’ve had with them was when they sent a guy to my personal home to do some electrical work. He was just throwing stuff all over my hardwood floors and I complained about them. The wait time on the phone is a problem too but after I get through to the people, it’s easy to submit a claim. I had Walton's on my second claim, which was for my air duct and I was sent to someone who no longer did work with AHS. They said everybody was booked and they had to find somebody else. I found out yesterday that they found somebody else but they haven't called me yet nor have I called them.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and thanks for recommending us. Enjoy your day.

When we bought our house, we had American Home Shield for about a year. We canceled it then renewed it. We've had it now again for almost two years. We've recently started using the home warranty as we've had things that started breaking all of a sudden. We made a claim when there was some kind of pump that went out. It had something to do with the panel. A-1 Wastewater Services came out and did everything they were supposed to. It went good and we haven't had any issue since. The only thing was we wanted to make sure this was covered with A-1. When we tried to call, it was hard to get through to speak to anybody at American Home Shield. Maybe it's because of the pandemic. We had to do it all online.

My pest control person went in my basement and showed me where there was water in the pan for that unit. I called Home Shield, put in a claim, and the gentleman from A, R, & C Specialists came out. He checked the water and said the system was running, but it was clogged up. He went on and serviced that. He told me that the water would evaporate. The water still hasn't evaporated, but the system is running. He serviced us well by finding what the problem was. And in doing that, I thought it was odd that he poured the dirty water that was in the pan back into the low pump section. I was concerned about that, but he service the unit and did that. We were pretty pleased with what he did.
The other day when I had to call last Saturday night for a different unit, a unit for the main level, the issue became that I could not tell the system that it was not a repeat for the service that was performed on the 28th instead. I had to call, and thenit became difficult because it took a while to get to a person in order to speak with someone, to have them to go into the system, and put in that it was a new unit. So, it should be maybe their system could be redesigned on their claim where you request the service to say, "Is this a callback on a prior service or is this a different unit?" That would have helped because I could have said, "Okay, no, that's not the unit. That's the guy who came on the 28th of August for, but this is a different unit."
And then, when I spoke with the representative, in order for her to put that in and change it, I had to give them my credit card. I could see all my files that my credit card is on file because it pays my contract every month on that same credit card. Also, it appears that maybe Home Shield uses an overseas telephone service. Then I had to give the young lady my credit card, and that concerned me. Other than that, I like the idea that they are very quick with assigning a service provider, that that service provider is, for the most part, outside of this holiday when I had to wait until Tuesday. I'm glad that my air unit was still working because it would have been from Saturday to Tuesday or Wednesday for someone to come out, if it was actually hot. That concerned me because of the Monday holiday. Overall, Home Shield's service has been pretty good.

We were going out of town right at the time that we discovered this was happening so I felt good about going ahead because I know Advanced is pretty good and dependable. I have two homes and I have American Home Shield. I have a dishwasher they came out for and checked. The washer wasn't working right and so they came back and fixed the panel. But they couldn't get the parts for the dishwasher so they are going to get me a new one. I got ahold of them to check on what's going on and they said it's been okayed that I get a new one. The girl gave me the number to call and she transferred me to it. When I called that number, it was a three-hour waiting list. I one day called, I stayed on for almost two hours.
I work night shift. I sleep during the day and I must have dozed off, and the call was gone, so they must have answered. The music that they play is so annoying, I had it turned down. My daughter works from home, so I had it turned down, so if her voice came on, I didn't hear it. There is no call for a three-hour waiting list. "Oh, because of the virus and this and that." They're working from wherever. If every other company in the United States or the world can work from home now, why can't call centers work from home to take people's calls? It's all done on a computer.
I have a dishwasher I can't use and I still don't know who to even contact because I'm not waiting three hours. We emailed them. They sent us a response back and asked a couple of questions like how wide is the dishwasher or what's the inside, if it's metal or plastic. That's the last we heard from them, nothing saying what dishwasher that they would approve or anything.
I also have two air conditioning units in my house and they came out and fixed the outside unit. Of course, it was noted that they couldn't evaluate the inside unit until the outside unit was working. It took me two months to get the outside unit, which I understood because of parts and because of everything that's happening. When they finally got the outside unit, the inside unit freezes up and then I get warm air, which is gonna ruin the new outside unit I just got. If it's really hot, it runs and then the whole thing up in the attic just freezes over, then we have to shut it down. Then the outside continues to run. I've been back and forth with the company that put it in and they understand the problem.
So I can't use half of my house. I've been running one central air on half of my house with a zillion fans blowing. My electric is out the gazoo 'cause we've got all these fans running and they have not gotten back to me. I have to call them again. Then my daughter went on and said that American Home Shield put that it was all fixed, that they said the inside unit needs to be changed out. It's very frustrating especially with getting things fixed. But in my sister-in-law's house, C and R Appliance of Galloway came out for the dishwasher and fixed it. I was there working to get the house ready for sale.
Are you all still in need of assistance?

The microwave was not rotating and there was a piece on the refrigerator that came off which held the bottom of the handle on. Also, the dryer had stopped working. The heating element had burned out. Submitting the claim was pretty seamless and pretty easy. I put it in and there was a little confusion on the website on my part, but once I figured out what it was, I had to cancel the claim I'd put in because I didn't know to put the right items in the first time. I got a really quick response back from McCain Appliance.
The tech scheduled the service and he came out. He figured out what was going on as far as the required items to remedy the problem with the dryer, refrigerator and the microwave. He was pretty knowledgeable about what was required to fix them. He ordered the parts, and as soon as they came in, he had them fixed fairly quickly. So, it was a good experience. He was very professional. The interaction was really good as far as explaining what was going on. I would definitely do business with him again.
Everything's been functioning great. When he did fix the microwave, he had to take the bottom off of it to get to the motor. He thought it was originally the motor but it wasn't. It turned out to be there's a small little three-piece thing that hooks into the motor that spins the plate on the bottom. When he took it down, the inside of the bottom microwave where the grease fan element is was fairly dirty. But it wasn't until later that I looked at it because I was gonna put a screen in there, that the wires to the lighting element are burnt. I don't think he noticed this because he wasn’t looking for it. It looks like the microwave has either been subject to a fire from the stove or has shorted out because they're burnt and the whole underside of the microwave is burnt. This is the only thing that bothers me. I'm very happy with the fact that we bought the warranty from American Home Shield. I'm very happy with the service so far.

We had a claim for a drain stoppage that was in the basement. Joe Lay & Sons Plumbing came, snaked the drain, flushed it, and everything worked. They probably weren't there about maybe an hour and a half, and they corrected it that day. The two technicians seemed to know what they were doing, were cordial, and prompt. I have a sign on my door that says you have to have a mask to enter. They had them on when they showed up. The only problem I had was communication. When I talked to the people on the phone, not everybody spoke English very well. I hard time communicating the information I was trying to get across. But other than that, when I contact them, they respond. It's pretty simple and easy. So far, AHS hasn't said that something wasn't covered that's obviously designated on the contract that it is. Sometimes I concern myself with insurance companies not wanting to cover things.

I noticed that you never reach someone if you try to call to set the service up. One time, I reached someone and tried to set up the appointment for the AC person. It was in the afternoon and asked where the rep was calling from and what country. It was from Pakistan or Philippines and I thought that was kind of odd. Also, they asked me for my credit card information, which I didn’t give them because I told them it was on file. I had a problem with that one.
The next problem I have with American Home Shield is that you can’t talk to anyone to describe the problem. So you get only an option to click one option. For example, the AC person came and there were several things connected to the AC. We didn't get any air in the bedrooms and it was not cooling enough. But we could only click cooling problem. So when I asked the tech about the ducts or why we don't get any AC in the bedrooms, he said they couldn’t do that because they only covered one item. But it's great when you’re finally able to set an appointment online and not via phone. They are very prompt in making the appointment and arranging contractors.

I've had other home warranties before, so I was a little apprehensive at first because you have to enter your credit card information and pay. You pay them for the service fee versus paying the tech when he comes to your house. But in retrospect, it was extremely easy. It was all automated. It was a great first experience.
With my previous provider, they've sent people out to my home that I've been not happy with the service. I was not happy with their level of responsiveness. But when AHS told me that the ticket was in process, they sent me the number over the automated phone system and then I got an email simultaneously. So I called the service provider and they told me they hadn’t received my ticket, but they would call me as soon as they got it. She called me back 10 minutes later. I told her that I didn't want it to be a situation where they would book me for next week. She said, "No, ma'am. We're making appointments for tomorrow." We had an issue with the dryer. The first two contractors who came were horrible and I didn't like them. I had had the one guy out to supposedly work on the dishwasher, then he came out on the dryer, and he said he’d fixed it. He was rude. He messed it up. He had pulled out several bird nests in the vent but he did not finish cleaning it. He kept saying that the dryer works fine. Well, of course, it didn't, and then it totally, absolutely quit. He was the same guy that told me I needed a new motor for the dishwasher. Then he went back to the company and said that there was nothing wrong. I gotta call for the things to find out and I said that it was not working right. AHS then sent out GE and the guy also said that I needed a motor. Then we had a new trap duct vent cover put up.
When I called back in, I specifically asked for a supervisor that I did not want the first gentleman back again. Lo and behold, I got a call from the same guy saying that he called to schedule my appliance repair. I told him last time not to come back to this house and I meant it. He said he had to get another company. Then National Platinum Service came out and this last guy was fantastic. He said to check the vent out. Since we had someone come out to do the vent, we thought everything would be fine. But fortunately, this guy from National ran back in the house ‘cause he had left the dryer on to make sure it ran all right and what he caught was the outside was totally blocked with lint. I had a friend of mine pull it out because he wasn't allowed to pull it out and it was probably six inches thick. He said that my house could have caught on fire. He was excellent. After many frustrating things we've had, it all ended up good.

He did a lot of damage with my air conditioning. When I spoke to American Home Shield, I said, "You have to send somebody that knows what they're doing," so they sent somebody else. The second contractors were excellent.
I find that it took over an hour to get to AHS, that after a while, you just give up. It's not worth it. It takes too long to get anybody to fix whatever it is. I really feel that if you don't have this insurance and you don't pay American Home Shield the cost and the monthly fee, it would be less of a headache just to cancel it and just call a plumber. If they don't make other accommodations in the near future, they're going to lose a lot of customers. Because it's inappropriate, even if it's COVID time, to wait over an hour for a representative, and then get disconnected. Now, I have another two problems. There was a problem with my dryer and they were supposed to send somebody with the part to fix it. I have 20 numbers for customer service. I just give up. It's very difficult to submit a claim with American Home Shield. I called in on the 26th of August. After seven business days, I still had not heard back from the provider to get the doors keyed. I finally just cancelled it as I was leaving to go out of town. I had called into American Home Shield two or three times saying I've never even heard back from the contractor. When I did that, they were just smart** to me.
On another claim, I called because the washing machine wouldn’t work. They sent somebody out. He said that the motherboard had quit working in the washing machine. He was still ordering the parts. That was on the 3rd of September. I called back in on the 10th of September. They told me two to five days with the parts getting in but they hadn't even ordered the parts. The guy said there was a screw up. I had to go buy a second hand washer and dryer so we've got something to use. I'm sitting here still with no parts for the washer and dryer. I can't even get the company to call me back and give me any kind of estimate or whenever they’d fix.
My experience so far with American Home Shield is terrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. They have poor customer service. They lack follow up. They lack compassion when they put a customer in an awkward situation. They really struggle with the words "I'm sorry." I'm in a field where we make mistakes sometimes and the first thing you should say is, “I'm sorry” and “Let me make it right." They don't do either one of those. I worked with Fidelity National with my previous home and they were excellent. We called them and there was somebody within probably five or six hours that at least lets you know, “We're gonna come tomorrow. It's gonna be a four hour window. We'll call you before we come.”

When filing claims, I call and do things over the phone. I have done them online, too, and both are fast. I'll talk to a person, he'll give me the information and tell me who's coming out, and they should have a badge on and all of that. I always get a pretty good quick response from American Home Shield on whatever problem I've had. It's a reliable service and they always get things fixed. The only thing that I don't like is I don't get a copy of the receipt so I could say that I had this done at this time and this is what was wrong. The contractors just take care of things and then they're gone. If I was able to have those for my records, I would like that.
Recently, the igniter switch of the stove went out. American Home Shield gave me the number and said that I could contact the contractor and set up an appointment. I did and the person came right out quickly from Sears. The guy diagnosed the problem within five minutes and fixed it and he was gone. I've always been really pleased and I always tell people about American Home Shield.

I've been off and on with Home Shield for the last four years, but I grew up with them in my house pretty much my entire life. Morgan Henry found the fridge as unfixable. I've submitted the order form for a new unit. It went through a checklist. It was a very smooth and simple process. Even if Morgan Henry had been able to fix it, the workers were very professional in the way they came in and handled themselves. I like that Home Shield has the option to call back. But for those people that are just headstrong, like, “Estimated wait time, 45 minutes,” just to continue us. For me, it was, “Hey, you are 30th in line.” I know how many people are in front of me. I know some other companies do it. But I like the “Your current wait time exceeds this.” That way, people don't just care. It's like, “Okay, we'll help you when you're next in line.” An hour and a half later, it's like, "Okay."

The seal on our refrigerator would not hold to keep the cold air in. It was letting hot air in. AHS sent some people out here to look at it, and the contractors said that they’d have to order the part. Then they’d come back and said the part was no longer available. Then, American Home Shield did a process to replace the refrigerator. They replaced it so, I got no complaints. COVID-19 has got everybody. Most of them were working from home, so the process took a while. But it all worked out. I got no complaints about the claim process. All of the contractors sent by AHS were good. It was a good experience with AHS. They were professional about the whole thing. I've been with them for 10 years and I don't have any complaints at all.

Updated on 11/07/2020: My 17 year old refrigerator was serviced 5 times by 2 different companies and had numerous parts replaced and rebuilt and still kept failing. Finally, Robert **, AHS Social Media Specialist, contacted me to say they will pay $3000 for us to purchase a new refrigerator and even sent that to me in writing. He stated I have to contact him so his department can reimburse me. I have emailed him several times now with my receipt for a refrigerator that exceeded the $3000 limit and now... crickets! This company is a complete scam. If you don't reach out to me and reimburse me AHS, I will be taking you to court! Run, don't do business with this company. Absolute worst company out there!!!!!!
Original: We were out of town, came home, and we found that in our kitchen refrigerator, everything in the freezer had melted. There was water on the floor and all the food had to be tossed. The food in the refrigerator was still a little bit cold but the food had also started to go bad. So we called American Home Shield and placed the service request. They sent Alfa Appliances out. It took like six days. The original company they wanted to send out, I Googled them really quickly and they had the worst reviews. So, I declined and we went with Alfa.
Alfa came out. They had a technician who said my refrigerator needed an inductor. It needed a piece. They ordered it, it came pretty quickly, he came back and replaced that. The refrigerator did well for a week and a half tops. Then we started to notice once again that in the freezer, things started to melt. The refrigerator no longer made ice. Everything in the freezer started to get soft again. We tossed it. We called American Home Shield. The lady that I spoke with was very nice on the phone, but she turned out to be a fraud because she said that she would call Alfa Appliances and have them escalate everything, and promised to call me back the next day.
This was more than a week ago. I've never heard back from her. Just to get through, I had to wait an hour and a half for somebody to pick up the phone on American Home Shield because if you use their automated system, they're really quick to want to charge you even though it was a recall. Alfa Appliances came out again. The lady on the phone from American Home Shield said they would send out a senior rep. Alfa Appliances sent out the same rep who claimed he was their most senior rep. He said, "Oh, this time, another part failed. And we're gonna have to rebuild this part because the refrigerator company no longer makes this part." This is a refrigerator that will be 17 years old this November.
So they took the part and said they were gonna build it. I was upset. At some point, they've gotta think about replacing an almost 17 year old appliance. The lady I spoke with at American Home Shield agreed with me and said, "Yes, it seems kind of ridiculous. You've had the same problem twice, less than two weeks apart, you're waiting quite a bit of time to get parts and whatever, whatever." Alfa Appliances is telling me totally different things than American Home Shield.
American Home Shield claims, "Yes, had we known the first time Alfa Appliances came out what the problem was and you called a week and a half later with pretty much the same problem, we would have said it's probably time to buy a new refrigerator, and we would have transferred you to that department." Alfa Appliances then said, "No, as long as the refrigerator can be repaired, even if we have to rebuild the part, American Home Shield is not gonna pay for a new refrigerator." I'm stuck in the middle. I felt like a yo-yo, and nobody really can do anything.
I called to speak with the owner of Alfa Appliances, and I got into a shouting match because he accused me of trying to break my refrigerator so that I can scam American Home Shield out of a new refrigerator. I had spoken to another gentleman at Alfa Appliances when the technician was here the second time to take the second broken part. That person claimed to be the owner of Alfa Appliances. I called back after their true owner and I got into a shouting match. They said, "He's not here. He's not here." I spent all day calling.
He finally got on the phone, transferred me to their senior in-house technician, who apparently is the one that's rebuilding the broken part. I was not happy because I kept getting the runaround. But this technician actually seemed to be the most smart person in that office. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He spent about an hour explaining everything to me. He was great. But I'm not happy with Alfa Appliances. I'm waiting for them to call me. They don't even have a time frame, whenever they get a part that they need to rebuild the broken part to my refrigerator to come and install it.
If a month goes by, I'm afraid to buy groceries and keep tossing my food. This is the second time I've had to throw an entire refrigerator and freezer of food away. Nobody seems to care, nobody's reimbursing me, so I will likely look for a different company. I'm not happy with American Home Shield. Their hold times are horrible, their employees tell you what you wanna hear and then never follow up, which is what the owner of Alfa Appliances told me. And I do believe that part is true because it's what I've experienced. I've had American Home Shield for years. It's the first time I've ever used them and I'm so disappointed. They will be losing my business and they will be losing both of my mom's homes as well. And everybody that we know, I can promise American Home Shield will be losing at least three homes of business and everybody else that we know will be hearing about this as well.

He came back the next day ‘cause he got the parts right away and then he installed them and cleaned up. This was the first request I ever had and up until now, American Home Shield has been great. I did the request on the phone and the number I have is the same number you call to sign up. I spoke to the person who's gonna take my information to sign me up and then they turned me over to somebody else and it went fine.

I've been with American Home Shield for three years and I’m satisfied. Submitting a claim is smooth and besides keeping the rate the same, everything else is good. I had an LED light on the temperature readout on my refrigerator and the upper left corner light wasn't lighting so you couldn't see the full number. I filed a claim and they sent Appliance Protection. I had them before for a couple other issues and they do the repair well but it takes a length of time for them to process, get the part and then to come back out. Their answering machine or to call them back is rather difficult. Sometimes their mailbox is full or it just rings.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield has been very easy. Their contractor, All Comfort Specialist, came out for an AC issue that I had. They were scheduled to come on a Tuesday afternoon and instead, they were able to come Monday afternoon. That was great because it was 84 degrees inside our house. The first time they came, they replaced the condenser and the fan motor. Those broke again so I requested a revisit. The techs came out again without me paying a new charge. They found that something had shorted. The wires on the condenser fell off and burnt, so they replaced those as well. The AC has been working fine since then. So far, AHS has been good for me. They've replaced the motor on my swimming pool pump as well as my garbage disposal. They've also been out four times to fix my air conditioner.

Issue #1: Do not call Customer Service unless you have at least an hour to spend on the phone either trying to get across what you need, or listening to horrible hold music while the CSR "reads the notes".
Issue #2: Two weeks ago, we notified AHS that we would like to move forward on having our water heater replaced, and would NOT be accepting the cash in lieu option. The contractor was scheduled and paid for non-covered costs. The day of the appointment, I am told that the AHS "Purchasing Department was not notified you were not accepting the CIL". See above that AHS CSR was notified 2 weeks ago. I took a full day off of work due to contractor's 8A-1P "service window" and here it is 1:15PM and AHS Purchasing Department "should have this resolved by the end of the day."
Thankfully, the Seller paid for this AHS warranty so that helps ease the pain of dealing with AMERICAN Home Shield. Unlikely we will renew and we definitely will NOT be recommending them to anyone we know until their CSR department improves their understanding of the English language.

After purchasing coverage for my home, my A/C unit went out on Friday July 17, 2020. I contacted AHS on Saturday July 18, 2020 at about 11am, after I had an A/C repairman come and advise the repair would cost more than the $100 copay. AHS advised a repairman would be at my home within 24 hours. On Sunday at 11am I received a text from AHS advising my repair would be complete by 5pm on Friday, July 24, 2020, then that was changed to 5pm on Monday, July 27, 2020. At 5 pm on the 27th no one had shown or called. AHS was contacted and I was advised that the repairman had not responded to them and no other repairman was in my area and I'm less than 1 hour from Atlanta GA. AHS advised I would have to find a repairman and pay out of pocket, but would be reimbursed after submitting my paid receipt. The receipt was submitted at 8am on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
Today's date is September 2, 2020 and I have still not received a refund, nor can anyone at AHS advise why. AHS has 3 call centers, 2 in the Philippines and 1 stateside and none of them can answer why. So before you purchase ask about repair person availability and how long it will take to get your money back. Personally, I would have been better off to have hired my own from the start, not done without A/C for 10 days and saved the hassle of fighting to get my money back.

I have had AHS for quite a while and have been overall satisfied. Prior to today, I would have given them 4 stars. Not 5 because I've been concerned with a few contractors in the past. This time I had an electrical issue. The contractors were extremely thorough, spent a great deal of time troubleshooting and then left. They felt they needed to cut sheetrock and weren't authorized to do so. This was a week ago. I have contacted AHS 3x since then and still no further communication nor resolution. I have EXTENSION CORDS powering part of my garage so that my door opener works. I even had a supervisor take a look. Still no word back. At this point I am going to move forward on my own dime to resolve my issue without AHS. Sadly, this is the first time that the issue felt somewhat major. Keep that in mind.

AHS will not cover the repairs to my elderly mothers a/c unit. She called to make a claim on August 24, 2020, they charged her $75 immediately to start the claim and have a repair technician come out. The guy came out (Absolute Comfort) to look at the a/c and told her the coil was bad and needed replacing along with handler and float switches. He told her the repairs would total $1300 and that AHS would not cover the cost. We waited over an hour to reach AHS again to discuss the issue, when an agent picked up, they immediately disconnected.
Because she is a 75 year old lady that had a triple bypass last year there was no room to continue to fuss with them and go without air. Currently the Houston, TX heat index is 110* or higher on some days. We found a repairman to do the job on August 28, 2020. American Home Shield still refuses to pay although her plan covers air conditioners. The company is fraud, they are a bunch of scam artist. They lack empathy especially for the elderly. No one here has asked for a handout, only that the company follows through with its agreement.

It’s always easy to file a claim with American Home Shield but it’s hard to file online because of the password or my questions to reset. I answered the questions correctly but it wasn’t the question that they’ve got. I don't understand that so I call and I can talk to someone. Once I get somebody on the phone, and we get it started, somebody's here. I don't like being frustrated, arguing with the computer, telling me I don't know where I was born, how old I am and my parents' names. That's the only part I had that drives me bananas.
A+ Appliance came out for my dryer. I asked questions and asked what was going on. They told me exactly what was wrong and showed it to me as well as what needed to be ordered. They ordered it, they came in and they snapped it in. I started my dryer and I've had no issues. I am very satisfied with my experience with AHS. I’ve had an account since like 17 and I've used them several times. Every time, they have fixed my issues.

With our most recent claim, Quality Services came out and were very careful. The guy had a mask on. He may have had gloves on too. He also kept his distance for me. He was in and out as quick as he could and fixed the microwave. I didn't have to sign anything. He did everything just exactly how he should. It was great. So far, American Home Shield has been excellent. I know that some of our neighbors in our neighborhood have the same type of policy through American Home Shield and they've had some issues, but we have nothing but good things to say about them.
Every now and then, a person gets a contractor that kinda wishes he'd been able to pick somebody different. There are some choices in that with American Home Shield and that's fantastic because we like to be able to have some say-so in what contractor comes out. Filing claims have been so easy and it literally takes no time at all on the website. The response is really quick from the contractors, they call really quickly. If they don't, I can call them, so it's no problem.
My mom is in her 70s, and she has an American Home Shield policy, and all she does is complain about it but it's because everything's online. She would much rather pick up the phone and call somebody. However, the wait is horrible when calling although I take care of it for her. I hope this could be improved because I am really hesitant to call them as I don't have a lot of time to sit and wait, and it's probably no less than at least a 15-minute hold. Sometimes I'm on the phone for over an hour 'cause I'm having to be transferred from person to person. Probably any other company out there is gonna have the same issues with the hold time on the phone calls. Overall, they do such a good job.

I submitted my claim initially online to AHS. Certified was the second company that came out and they completed the work. The first company, a gentleman came out, got mad and left. The part that I found a little bit difficult, was when the first company left, about rescheduling the second company, having to call in to try to figure this out took forever. The reps of AHS didn't answer the phones very quickly.
The first gentleman came out. I happened to be coming down out of the attic space because I knew that the flooring up there was that particle board. It was a little bit spongy. So, I wanted some really good foundation for him to walk on, so I put some more plywood up there. As I was coming down, he said, "Hey, what's up, buddy? You doing something for me?" I said, "I was doing this. By the way, did you see the email I sent in?" Because under the American Home Shield, they give you the option to write some notes. I requested a procedure to be done and he said, "I can't do that."
He started to take off the panel. As he did, he connected his gauges to the unit. The normal procedure is that the gauges will be closed. When you connect the gauges, a little bit of Freon will escape. But he forgot to close the gauges, so Freon was going all over the place. I was charged $75 a pound. I said to him, "I'm not paying for that pound." He got mad and closed everything up. He said, "I'm leaving." I said, "You don't have to get upset. I just don't wanna be held accountable for your mistake. At $75 a pound, I don't think it's fair for me to have to pay for that."
I've already been through this a few years before on another call where somebody made a huge mistake, and I wound up having to pay for the complete refill. I got him out there, only under the agreement that I'd pay his cost, not the $75 a pound. 'Cause if I said I want him to do it for free, I knew he would go, "I'm not coming."
He made a phone call back into his shop and he was out on to my street. I was walking out, and so I was in the middle of the driveway about 25 feet away. He said, "Get away from me!" I was like, "Sir, I'm on my property. I can be anywhere I want." Also, somewhere in the process of this, he stole the pole that comes out of the side of the house. There's an electronic pole that the technicians pull out so they can work on a unit with no electricity coming to it, which is smart. I reached back out to the company. But this company never called me and never followed up. I called AHS back. I arranged for the second company. He did a wonderful job. I told him what had happened. I already had made arrangements. I bought a whole new box and he installed it for me and charged me $80, which I paid 'cause I want AC.
My biggest beef with American Home Shield, any time you do have something, if you ask them questions, they won't tell you upfront anout the buyout. If you have a refrigerator system down, instead of them communicating real quick with you, they delay it for days before they tell you. So, you're sitting there with a unit that's down and you need to have a refrigerator and you need to have a new compressor put in. All you're wanting to know is, “How much are you gonna give me towards a new unit?” You end up saying, "You know what, go ahead and repair this one," only because you're sitting there needing to have refrigeration in your refrigerator.

Then I started having the exact same problem and I texted the guy that I talked to before I call Home Shield again. He said he'll come right back out and check it again. Again, it was a Thursday, so he came out again first thing the next morning.
In the meantime, I called Home Shield and said that I needed a recall because I was having the same problem and they were very agreeable. They actually contacted the contractor at the same time. They came out and thought that once again they had the issue fixed. It worked fine for about four days. Again, the same problem, and I went through the same thing. The next day, the guy came out and finally replaced the contactor, and I haven't had an issue within two weeks or so. I was only billed one time even though the contractor was there three times. So, on both ends, they were prompt and better than what I expected. I've had to call Home Shield for three different occurrences and they worked out fine for all three of them.

North Coast Group was great. They were so professional and they were there when they said they would be. The tech had the problem resolved very quickly. The garage door would open without you even knowing it was open. You'd hear it in the middle of the night or you would close the door and the garage door opener would come up sometimes. It would go up and down and up and down. It was scary. Finally, what we had to do is get up there and pull the plug on the garage door opener. All it was was the actual switch. So, it was a quick fix and it was well worth having American Home Shield.

I've had AHS for a minimum of 15 years and it's been wonderfully beneficial. It's saved me a lot of money. I've recommended American Home Shield to anybody that wanted to listen. Recently for my claim, the contractor's initial run here was fine. He was a very polite man. I'm waiting for him to come back and do the actual repair. It was a ceiling fan, and so it had to be purchased.

The pilot light kept going out. We would relight it and then it would go out so we weren't getting any hot water. AHS sent Immediate Response Plumbing & Rooter Service. The plumber said he thought there was a little bit of water in the pan and leak in the water tank, which was weird for us because it was just replaced not six months ago. But he said we'd have to get a new one. That day, AHS approved it and we scheduled a time for the people to get a new one. We had to pay $100, which I was okay with. I just thought it was a little not fair ‘cause we just replaced the water heater not such a short time ago. But everything went smoothly. There was one air conditioning company that they sent out that I didn't like. I called AHS and told them about it and that the company ripped us off and suggested things that weren’t needed. AHS quickly changed to another company and sent the other company right out.

American Home Shield is not too good with air conditioning. I live in the sticks and the closest contractors in our area say they would never do business with American Home Shield. They hate them because AHS lowballs them. For my AC claim, AHS had to send someone from 70 miles away. AHS just kept wanting to patch my unit that was 20 something years old for five years in a row. Air conditioners are high-dollar items. I had to pay for half of the cost for the replacement unit I got. I told AHS to tell me how much they would pay their contractor to come to my location and put that down towards a new unit for me. They agreed. More recently, we had a leak coming from a pipe. My wife notified American Home Shield and they sent Hardy Plumbing Co. Things have been okay since they came out.

Filing a claim to American Home Shield was very simple. I did a claim over the phone, and their rep was very good. The claim was for the AC unit, and At Your Service came out. The issue was something I could troubleshoot. When the guy came by, he said, "Yeah, that's pretty much what it was. Problem is that it's been so hot that it's no relief at night that these air conditioners are just running non-stop." He had gloves and a mask on and he made sure he was well over six feet away. He only had to come into the house and go in the basement. He also put on shoe protectors when he came in the house.

I had an appliance issue and American Home Shield sent MC2 Appliance Services out. They did repair it. It’s running okay now. It’s just like there is another button there that wasn’t working very well, but the tech said that that one wasn't covered with AHS. I didn't know there was a distinction when I was signing up, but it wasn't an issue. I spent three minutes trying to manage it, turn it around just a little bit and it clicks. I would love that to be replaced but he said it’s not covered. The main issue he was here for was covered.
When I identified the problem, I went online on Sunday late at night, and I submitted the claim to AHS and they got back to me with an automatic text explaining everything and that somebody would be in touch with me by Sunday morning. I woke up Sunday morning and MC2 sent the text saying the technician will be here on Tuesday. It was 72 hours, but it wasn't an emergency thing. It was fixed. So I like it.

The garbage disposal was leaking under our sink. We filed the claim online and the American Home Shield website said that we needed to contact the contractor for scheduling so I called them up. The guy said they hadn't gotten anything but he was gonna check something. He called back in a few hours and told me that he saw the work order. They came out, cleaned out some pipes and thought they had fixed it.
Two days later, we had the same problem so they came out and replaced the garbage disposal. The leak there stopped and we haven't had any water underneath the sink since. They were very polite and careful with our floors. They cleaned up when they were done. They were very professional. I had a problem and American Home Shield got it fixed. I didn't spend $10,000 replacing all my appliances. That was the nice part about it. Our entire kitchen has gone berserk over the past three months. When I submitted a claim with AHS, I sat about an hour to an hour and a half on the phone waiting for somebody to call me back. 'Cause because of COVID, it took them forever. The contractors told me they'd be here before noon. He got here about 11:45 AM. But he didn't call me and he startled me when he was at my front door.
He was neat, clean, efficient and explained everything to me. At the same time, when I had called and placed the claim with my dishwasher, I also told the AHS rep that I would like the contractors to look at my stove fan. After I paid her the $100, the rep said just to ask the repair guy and I did. He said that nobody told him. He just disappointed me with that. Because I know I had told the lady about it. So now, I don't have that fan blowing up on my stove. They said they're gonna do something but they didn't. All they want me to do is call back and they'll take my money again.

The technician was great. There was frozen ice on the floor of the freezer and though it wasn't what he thought it was, he did repair it. It was a clogged drain line in the freezer and everything's fine right now. We did have another experience with American Home Shield. Our 14-yr old air conditioner stopped working. We weren't surprised but by the time they sent somebody out, we had water leaking on the ceiling of the garage and we have a water leak on the ceiling in a hallway.
The company that came in said, “We can put a Band-Aid on it. It's 14 years old, but we'll be back in two or three months.” According to them, that's how American Home Shield works. I ended up having it replaced because I didn't have the time nor the $75 every time they come out. Then I got an email from American Home Shield saying that they wouldn't pay for the freon. It was $716 and they were only gonna pay $120. the rest of it, $7,000, came out of my pocket. They said it was an upgrade, that it could have been repaired, and their policy is they'll send a repairman out in two or three months, whatever it needs. I’m paying $75 each time they come out which is peanuts. I'm not complaining about that but if it was the condenser this time and it's a broken line next time, that doesn't count towards replacing it because it's a different repair.

I was in the basement with an electrician at the time that the first-floor tenants were taking a tub. All of a sudden, water was pouring into the basement. It turned out to be an overflow. When I told the tenant I put in a claim and the contractor was gonna come fix that, she said there were a ton of other things that didn't work. This is this is a new two-family for me that I had recently purchased and she said that the faucet in the kitchen sprays water out everywhere when you turn on the sprayer. Also, there was something wrong with the toilet. I placed two claims and the plumber took it from there. He called American Home Shield and told them what was wrong. The plumber found so many things wrong that I reached the limit for my plumbing. But when I signed up, I didn't even know I had a limit. That wasn’t great.
The claims process with AHS is good but when you call in, it takes too long to get someone on the line. You're on hold for too long. I can do it online but I'm on the road a lot. I'm not home at a computer so it's harder for me to do it online. I wish we could use our own people such as our own plumbers. Mark, the rep, was great but he gets so many calls from American Home Shield that he's backed up. So, if it's not an emergency, you wait a couple of weeks. When I call my plumber, he comes right away. So, I wish there was a way to use your own guys and have American Home Shield pay them.

I have my home and I have a rental property with American Home Shield. I've been pleased over the years with both properties, but I'm not pleased with my last call, which was an issue with the ductwork. The ductwork came down because of the age of the home and I was trying to get them to cover it. I had two contractors come out and both of them told me that American Home Shield doesn't cover ductwork, but I felt like American Home Shield does. With the first contractor, both of the departments weren't aware that it was a crawlspace under the house. They were also unsure if ductwork repair would be covered, which is why I called American Home Shield and asked for someone else to come back out.
The second contractor cleaned the exterior of my unit, crawled under the house and had the same findings as the first one. He saw that there were some ductwork repairs that needed to be done, said he would get back in touch with me, and I haven't heard anything yet. The guy also took pictures and showed me that some of the ductwork had holes in them and needed to be replaced, but no one else has contacted me. I got a quote and it was external under the house repairs and possibly a new unit. There were different prices and the final quote was extremely expensive.

The refrigerator is not working. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield by phone and it was a good experience speaking with their rep. They told us about the timeframe it would take for the contractors to come out. However, I had to call the contractors to get the appointment set ‘cause they didn't have the information yet from American Home Shield. Then it was gonna be days before they were able to come out. But the guy that showed up was nice and confident that he could get it fixed.
He ordered parts, and those came in days later. Then we made another appointment to get the parts installed. He replaced a heater motor and the thermostat motor and said to leave it off for 24 hours and then turn it back on, and he said we'd be good to go. But that only lasted for about 10 days, and then we had the same problem. The refrigerator stopped cooling.
They made another appointment, again, days out, before they could get back to us. He came, looked, checked and said yes, it was the same problem happening. Since he had replaced those two parts, he said it must be a wiring thing that's on the inside that he couldn't fix. We are hoping to get a replacement, but we're waiting for a second opinion from Sears, and that's not scheduled till this week.
It’s a hassle dealing with AHS. It's not worth the trouble. Because if we didn't have American Home Shield when the refrigerator initially stopped working, we just would’ve gone and got a new refrigerator and moved on. We're very dissatisfied. All we want is a working refrigerator. Since we've moved in, we haven’t really had a functioning refrigerator in our kitchen.

The person from Gaithersburg Plumbing who came was very patient and very efficient. There were multiple parts in the tank that needed to be replaced. He started with the simplest one but it didn't resolve it. He ended up replacing all the innards because they were old. He went until the problem was solved. He had some difficulty reaching back to the company at one point to have an extra approved but he went ahead and did it. He was hesitant a little bit to do it without being able to get ahold of someone who could call Home Shield but I'm sure they would've approved it because it all needed to be done.
Also, one of the companies called me outside of Home Shield and asked if I wanted a special AC check. I thought they work for Home Shield and they're kind of taking advantage of that relationship and calling to see if I want business outside. Plus, they wanted to charge me $70 to do an AC check. But I feel pretty good about Home Shield's service. It's a lot of money every month to pay when you think about over the course of a year. There aren't that many things that would cost as much as the amount of paying for the year. But the service I've received when I've needed it has been good.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your plumbing request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

I love American Home Shield. They've been a wonderful company. Every time I've had a claim, they've had excellent people come and take care of my needs. My only problem with them is that I've been waiting a month now for them to refund me. I had one service call and then I cancelled it. But I've been with them 10 years now and everything else has been perfect.
When filing claims, sometimes I do it online, sometimes I do it by a phone call and open a ticket. It asked what it falls under and I'd say yes. Then usually within 24 hours to 48 hours, the person calls me and texts me and says they wanna set up an appointment and then they handle it right away. They've been the best thing I ever did. I even have my parents using them now. Recently, my toilet broke. The contractor that they've sent me that has handled my air conditioning, my plumbing, is All Systems Heating and Air, and they came in masks. They did the job and took care of my needs. They were excellent, polite, fast and responsive. It's been wonderful.

I do recommend American Home Shield to family and friends. It's provided some value. I got my fridge and my washer and dryer replaced last year and they've been great about it. I've had to submit the forms and do it, and that's been pretty good. I have kinda like top-of-the-line LG appliances and when they replaced them, they said they offered a Maytag. The Maytags are a little bit cheaper and they were telling me it was the same thing. But I have noticed that with the amount that they gave me, I did have to downgrade a little bit not necessarily in quality but at least the brand. If you go to Lowe's and buy an appliance, sometimes, LG fridges are $2,500 and the other ones are cheaper.
In my situation, there are some things that are slightly frustrating. One thing is with this AC. We had the contractor out to fix it earlier this spring or the summer. They came out here and 66 days later, it quit working again. It was outside of the 60 days so I gotta pay over again as if it was like a new service. I've got an aging system so they kinda keep coming out and kinda like getting it through to the next time as opposed to 100% fixing it. The other thing is they have this scheme going with these AC guys. It's the AC industry in general, but here's how it works. I'm a licensed contractor so I do remodeling and construction. I have accounts at the place where this product is sold. I can't buy freon because I'm not a licensed AC guy. But the way it works out is it's $6 or $7 a pound. It's very inexpensive.
American Home Shield only pays $10 a pound for freon so I get a bill from my HVAC guy separately for it and they're having to charge me some sort of much higher rate. They're charging like a 2,000% markup. They said it's something to do with my contract with American Home Shield. It wasn't as bad this time. It was only $90. But what's happened in the past is a $400 bill for a few pounds of freon. I can buy the whole bottle of 20 pounds for $300. They have purchasing power to purchase stuff and keep your stuff running a little bit cheaper than you can potentially. When I call an AC guy out, if I don't know anything, they can come out here and hose me.
The big part of American Home Shield is they're supposed to have negotiated rates to get this stuff done. But they kinda hang you out to dry on the freon situation and I really do not like that at all. I have to call Billy’s ‘cause they sent me this big bill for freon. I don't mind paying 20, 30, 50% markup on the product and they gotta carry a docket but it's like they're not going to buy a bottle at $1 a pound then tell me it's $20.

We then called and let American Home Shield know that there was a hole left in the wall from where they had done the repairs on the plumbing. They set us up to get it fixed, and they gave us a number to call. We were supposed to get some drywall work done, but we can't get ahold of the people who are supposed to be doing it. It was a recalled part and nobody caught it. The GE appliance man came out last Wednesday. He wasn’t American Home Shield’s guy, but he could've been the same one that was due to come out on Thursday. But I canceled them because the guy from GE fixed it on Wednesday. The tech wore his mask and he had shoe covers and gloves on. He only came into the inside of the house one time and then after that, he preferred using the outdoor access, so he was great. I’m loving having the insurance. It's definitely saved us a lot of money. I do wish that there was a way to be able to put a preference for companies.
Home Shield sent out Thermex the first two times that we had issues. But they were quoting us ridiculous prices and telling us we needed a whole new unit. They were quoting us $10,000 worth of work. So the first summer, we just went without the air conditioning. It was really rough. Then this year, when we had another issue, we called and they sent out Thermal instead. The guy told us that the previous people that had come out snipped a wire, which they had told us they were doing because supposedly, it was going to help this issue that we were having not continue to recur. The guy from Thermal told us that it should have never gotten snipped and that was why we were having more issues. So they fixed that.
They also fixed a couple other issues that came in. So aside from our services that we've paid, we had to pay about $300 for some coolant stuff that the AC unit needed. But outside of that, Home Shield has covered it, which has been amazing. So we refer all of our friends that just bought houses to American Home Shield. We’re we’re really happy with it.

We've only been here for almost two months. The first month, we had really bad AC problems. It would stay on for about a week then it would kick off and it would stay on a week then it would kick off again. It stayed on for two days then it kicked again and then we were without for four days. It was the whole weekend. It was bad because there are two adults and seven kids in my house ranging from the age of 12 to a year old.
American Home Shield assigned to us Outlaws Heating. Our AC has been steady since the last time they came out. When Jason, the head guy from Outlaw came out, he was said, "We're gonna get it running to where you don't have to constantly keep calling us to come back out here." He actually fixed it. He thought it was the thermostat at first but it wasn't. There was something outside on the actual unit itself that was messed up and he replaced all that for free. When it first started happening, it was outside was blowing the breakers. That was why the unit wouldn't stay long. Normally, you cut it off then you cut it back on. When it gets cold and you wanna turn it off. When it was shut off, the breaker would blow. As long as we kept it going nonstop, the breaker wouldn't blow. When we cut it down was when it blew. I'm anemic so I don't wanna be cold. Now, our AC is working a whole lot better than what it was before.
We still have another 11 months to go with American Home Shield. At the end of those 11 months, we are gonna renew it again only because I like it. They don't just say, "We're gonna send somebody out." They actually do it. At first, we thought we were gonna have to pay tons of money but it was only $82 for the home warranty company to send somebody out. That's awesome. I would recommend American Home Shield to everybody. My dad lives a few houses down. This is his first home and nobody ever told him anything about a home warranty until I started buying this house. He's looking to get a warranty on his home and come through American Home Shield.

We really took out the warranty because all of our appliances are older and we have a pool that we included. However, when I call to report something at AHS, it takes forever to get in touch with them. Also, when I do get in touch with somebody, I understand they're in the Philippines, but the people that I'm reporting to sometimes are hard to understand. I had a refrigerator claim last year and it was such a debacle. It took almost a month to get repaired. It was a nightmare. The contractor was fine but there was a lack of customer service on American Home Shield's side. There was one person who was helpful in getting some reimbursement on another refrigerator I needed to buy while waiting for everything to happen. American Home Shield work with Sears and the Sears folks are pretty good. The washer has discolorations on the clothes and busted hoses, so Sears had to replace a few things. They had to come back ‘cause they had to wait for the parts. I was without a washer for a week. But the repair was done and it went smoothly.

Mae Dae Electric came out for the issues on some light switches as well as the ceiling fan and some sockets. Even though the socket registered to work, the plugs themselves and a couple of sockets are not staying in and the tech did not know that. I was gonna call them for something that he had checked to make sure that they were working. He was very professional and diligent. He came dressed appropriately. I was very pleased. The only thing is that I'd like to get through to speak to someone because sometimes I may have more than one issue going on. I know because of the Corona situation, it took a little longer to get through but I was patient. I understand that some people are out sick or short-staffed. A lot of people are home now and they can see things that are going on with their house. Overall, my experience has been great.

The pilot on my water heater is an electronic brain type pilot on the outside and it wouldn't work. Since I'm not really good on the computer, I called in a service request for it on a Friday. IRH Plumbing called me and made an appointment for Tuesday. Two days after the call, they were out here on the first appointment. Their guy tried to take the water heater apart to see if he could fix it and clean it. He put it back in but it wouldn’t work so the company had to order a part. I was told that there was actually a recall on that pilot a couple of years ago but I never got a notice. But they got the part, their tech came back and they installed it. He did a really good job. Everything went really well and it's working fine now. If I ever have any more plumbing issues, I'd like to request that the same company come out because they're local. They were very good and I trust them.
The only thing is sometimes when I try calling American Home Shield, their recording or on-call stuff doesn't give me a lot of options. They give five options and none of which is to speak to a real person. I don't like talking to a machine. I would suggest looking at an option where the call can be transferred from that on-call line rather than me calling back and getting another number. I got the same everything like recording and response. It got really frustrating trying to follow up on what was going on. I tried two different numbers I had until I finally got through and got somebody on another line. But there's something about that call number that I was given. I don't know if I was given the wrong customer service number. But I had a hard time getting a hold of a real person.

The time frame that they gave me worked. The tech told me not to use that outlet, so he was helping. Even though he couldn't be there for a couple of days, he wanted me to be safe. We had a drain issue from the upstairs bathroom. The drainage pipe runs down through a central wall in the lower level of the house and there was a leak on the ceiling of the lower level that was causing the molding to come apart. The softening of the wood told me that it had been that way for a while. I bought the house a little over a year ago and didn't realize we had a problem until I called that claim in and the contractor came out and told me to put a silicone caulk around one of the fixtures on the tub. We thought we had it fixed but there's still a leak coming from that same place. We also had a major repair that had to be done because of another plumbing problem that we paid the deductible, and then the repairs were considerably more, so the warranty helped tremendously.

But he didn't say anything to me about a program where it helps me to get an upgrade because the system is still running. If it's not broken, they don't wanna put in to getting it fixed. We've been using American Home Shield for years and the claim for the refrigerator and the microwave goes back a month or two ago. Proficient Appliance came out and everything seemed fine. Somebody came out and they fixed the microwave. It took a long time to get the parts because it's an older microwave, so I can't complain about that.
After they were gone, the refrigerator door still doesn't work. When you close the door, it kinda bumps up and down because the hinges are broken so I called the appliance company. I talked to the woman who said that I needed to contact American Home Shield so they can notify them to go ahead and do a second follow-up visit. I did that and I got the notification that they were assigned. I called several times and left a voice message with Proficient Appliance. They were supposed to contact me within 24 to 48 hours and that was last week. So, the claim is still open. Maybe they're waiting on more parts but they aren't contacting me. Maybe they're swamped but they should call back within 24 to 48 hours. I'm still waiting for them to call unless they had just forgotten about it.
Trying to reach somebody on American Home Shield is a traumatic thing. I file maintenance requests online but to get a hold of somebody from American Home Shield is not an easy thing to do. I've had some good experiences with them but a couple of years ago, we had a water leak in our home and I called it in. AHS sent out a company. They came, replaced the water heater, and charged me for 600 and some dollars in extra charges. One of the extra charges was for a building permit to replace a water heater, which our city requires. There were other things that American Home Shield doesn't pay for. So, they billed me. It turned out that the company who did the work never took out the permit. Also, they charged me for things that they never installed. So, I ended up calling AHS.
The plumbing company was a second-rate company. Their people would come out or they wouldn't show. I never got it fixed after a couple months and I hired another company to come out and repair it. It cost me $600. I had to file a dispute with the credit card company to get my money back. I filed the complaint with the Plumbing Board for the state of Texas over the company that was fraudulently doing work. That was with somebody that American Home Shield was using and I never got a resolution from them on that. I had to dispute the charge with the plumbing company.
In plumbing companies, there may be one licensed plumber and then they have 10 independent contractors, which are not licensed plumbers. But they're using the license of the one person. So you can have less than qualified people coming out to do work. That's one of the rackets in the plumbing business. It was fraud. I caught them because I went online to the city of Round Rock, and it lists building permits, and I was able to see they never took it out. Overall, the majority of things are fine with American Home Shield but every once in a while, there's a less than qualified subcontractor they use to do the work. So, they need to be very conscious of the quality of the companies that they use to do work.

My recent experience with AHS was a long claim because the contractors had to come back three times. They couldn't get the dishwasher to work properly. I had them bring another dishwasher and place that in. Once they pulled the other dishwasher out, they found the problem. But they had already put a new dishwasher in. The technicians were very nice. They tried their best. The new one is fine. But unfortunately, he said, "The bad news is I took this out and now that I found, I could fix it. Tell American Home Shield you need a new one." I said, "Okay." That was our agreement going forward 'cause I had renters in a vacation home and I couldn't have them three weeks without a dishwasher.
AHS has been pretty good. I don't have a lot of projects. This one just didn't work out 'cause of timing. I needed to get it fixed right away. After the third try, it just was, "Do you have a dishwasher?" The contractor said, "Yes." I said, "Bring it and put it in because there are no dishwashers out there." There are long waits for appliances. So I just had to pay this time. But if something breaks again, I'm sure American Home will be out in time to fix stuff.

This company is not set up to repair anything on the weekend and even during the week you are subject to whatever workload the contractors assigned to work with American Home Shield can handle, the sad part is this not the physical work. It's the paperwork. This company makes the process of fixing anything regardless of how essential it is to your home impossible. First send a contractor to the house to assess the problem, then document the problem, then send paperwork back to american home shield for approval, then send a second contractor out to your house to complete the repair.
Most plumbers work Saturdays but not a full 8 hours. Try following this process on a saturday, I can almost guarantee you whatever is broken will still be broken after they leave. There is no way to expedite anything, no way to set a job as a emergency, every repair gets the same lousy treatment. Any in addition if that item breaks again you better hope it breaks within the first 30 days, because if it doesn't you pay the same service fee again and follow the same process. Please stay away from this company.

This is my second time dealing with a appliance repair through them. The first time it took over 2 1/2 months for them to repair my dishwasher. Now it's the refrigerator. It's been two weeks and I was told by THEIR CONTRACTOR that they have to authorize the replacement part. First it is a contractor they sent out to determine the problem and secondly if a part is needed you think they would trust their contractor enough to allow them to do the work. NO! The contractor has to submit a request for a part and wait for the authorization from them to even order the part. So if they deny the request you're out your $100 service fee.
I can pay other companies half that amount and get it fixed the same day. So why am I still using them? Good question. I am not going forward. I had had way too many issues with them even when our air conditioner went out last summer. Don't get me started on that, let's just say you have to wait a few days for service even in 110F temperature. So please do yourself a favor and stay clear from this company.

When I called regarding the incident all the representatives I have spoken to was not any help. The last representative that I spoke to was very rude and had me on hold forever to tell me to contact Nationwide Credit, Inc regarding my balance. When I explained to her why would I contact the collection agency when your company is the one who charged me.
So I then asked to speak with a supervisor. The representative indicated that she didn't have a supervisor that I could speak with and then hung up the phone. I have been a customer of American Home Shield for well over a decade. I have poured more than $10,000 of my hard earned money into this company because I believed that they would stand by their word of "protecting their customer". This company is a sham, they rob their customers blind and do not give any support or compensation when something needs to be replaced. I filed two claims within the months of June and July. One for my washer and dryer and one for my AC unit. Please keep in mind that I live in Arizona and temperatures are extreme.
They sent out service agents to assess my washer and dryer and AC to which I had to pay a total of $150 out of my own pocket. I made countless phone calls to American Home Home shield explaining to them that the service agent for the AC told me flat out that I needed a new compressor but because my unit is over 23 years old, it would not be worth it to replace the compressor and that it would be in my best interest to get a new unit. This company also told me that they are "not allowed" to tell American Home Shield that information because they will never replace the unit and that they will only do the bare minimum.
I did my due diligence and had three other HVAC companies come out to assess my AC unit and they all said the same thing. The unit needed to be replaced. I had to have my AC unit replaced on 7/18/2020 and paid $9,779 out of my own pocket. American Home Shield has not contributed a dime. I have called American Home Shield countless times, most recently on Friday, 8/28 and was on the phone for hours requesting to speak to a supervisor. The agent told me a supervisor would contact me on Saturday, 8/29. It is now Monday, 8/31 and no one has called me back.
Each time I have tried to make contact with AHS, I am on the phone for hours waiting on hold, having to explain my issue, requesting to speak with a supervisor only to be denied, etc. Each time someone has said that a supervisor will call me back, no one does. One agent falsified my information and changed a digit in my phone number and my email so no one could get a hold of me. It was another agent who discovered this.
In one of my phone calls to American Home Shield, I requested to speak with a supervisor and after over 4 hours of being on the phone with the agent, it was not until I told her that I wanted to file a formal complaint that she finally put me in touch with a supervisor. I explained my frustrations to that supervisor and told her of the illegal and unethical practices of one of their agents to which she apologized and told me that I would be refunded the $150 service agent fee. I was also told that they would give me $125 for a fan. That refund and compensation never happened.
I was told by one agent that I would be getting a cash out of $3,000 to put toward my new AC unit and then by another agent that it would only be $1575.61 as long as I submitted my invoice. I have submitted that invoice multiple times and the supervisor that I was in touch with will not get back to me. I have called her and left multiple voicemails as well as sent multiple emails with no success. I request that something be done about this and that I receive compensation for the new AC unit, fan, and the service agent refund. I also request that a supervisor contacts me ASAP.
This whole situation has interfered with my work day, taken time away from my family, and has taken a toll on my emotional and mental health. Every time I try to make contact with American Home Shield I become so worked up because of their horrendous customer service, lies, and mistreatment. Trying to contact a company who I have paid for years to protect me only to be taken advantage of and treated so terribly is inexcusable. I implore you to revoke American Home Shield's Consumer Affairs accreditation. I will never understand how a company like this even exists to rob their customers with no consequence. Their actions should be taken to court and their licenses revoked.

I have been an American Home Shield customer for 13 years. I just purchased a new home and went from one home with American Home Shield to the other one. Recently, our air conditioning had completely shut down and we had no air at all coming out of the system. C and C Heating and Air came out very quickly and they were able to take care of the problem. They handled it great too. On the other hand, American Home Shield should have more people on the telephone that can answer in an expedient manner. Getting through to anybody on the phone to ask a question is impossible. It's very frustrating for all parties.
If people can do their claim online, it's fine. If they can't though, then they have to go through the telephone and they can be on hold for 45 minutes. It is totally unacceptable. My sister is purchasing a new home right now and she's with American Home Shield in her home as well, but she's considering switching because of that hold time. One other reason is the fact that there are so many things that are not covered. Everything is not covered like you think it is.

I would be on the phone for an hour and a half, then I'd hang up and call back. But when I get to talk with their reps, they're always nice and very professional.
I bought a new AC in March because I have respiratory issues. AHS sent out the tech to install it and the gentleman said that it was all right. But then, it started breaking down in July. They were supposed to come out free of charge to help alleviate the situation and when I called the girls at the office, they made sure that their management came out. And he did a really good job. He went outside and inspected the air conditioner. And he fixed it so that the air conditioner is running and the house is cool. He said that whoever installed it didn't follow the requisition but he said that that tech was no longer with them. He was very nice and they are rectifying what should have been done back in March this Thursday.

Universal Plumbing Company of Shreveport did okay on my plumbing issue. There was quite a bit of a delay on getting someone out here though. It took over a week. I've had American Home Shield on and off for years. I'm a real estate agent, so I sell these things to some of my buyer clients and I need to know that they're gonna be taken good care of. And American Home Shield is a lot better than they used to be. Their customer service is a lot better. It used to be that they would not replace anything. This time around, I had a problem with my washing machine, and there were no parts available for it, so I got a brand new one. It's a much better one than I had before. So, that was great.
Now, if it's something that can be repaired, they'll repair it. The only problem is they order the parts, and I know that a lot of it has to do with COVID and it's hard to get some things, but it seems like it takes a really long time to get parts in. Also, I would suggest that if a customer calls, they should not have them on hold for two hours waiting to talk to someone.

The air conditioning claim went through right. The tech from Metropolitan came out. He checked it out. He did what he had to do. He had to cut it off and let it stay over one day before he could remove something because it had frozen up. He came the next day and repaired it with no problem. The AC has been doing fine since then.
With American Home Shield, I had more than one request per system because at the time I was having problems, I was a lot. Everything broke down at the same time. I had problems with things that they don't cover. That’s been my biggest problem. I was gonna call and check up what was going on with the coverage because I had a water softener and a bathtub they didn’t cover.
I asked American Home Shield to send me a plumber who would want to look at it and see how to do it. The man came out and said, “No, no, no, I don't do that. Y'all have to go back and tell American Home Shield that I don't do that. They’ll have to find somebody to come do that.” I don't wanna be paying $100 for him to tell me he won't even touch it or he won’t even talk to the man who built it to see how to do it. I had called the company and they would tell him how to do it, but he said he didn't wanna do it. I don’t want him charging me $100 and say, “I don’t touch it.” American Home Shield is gonna charge me $100 copay and my $100 to say, “I won’t touch it.” I was wondering how AHS handles that.

H & K Plumbing came to repair two toilets and a sink. They still don't work, but they said they're old and need to be replaced by the homeowner because they can't put the claim in for American Home Shield. But the plumbers helped very much and they were personable. They did repair the toilet, so it flushes a little better. They also replaced and adjusted lift rod in the basement but you still gotta close something up. But overall, the warranty helps a lot. We submit our claims online and it's been working fine.

We have a dual AC system. We have an upstairs and a downstairs and the upstairs unit was giving us problems about four weeks ago. We called up AHS and I paid the $75. May Heating and Air came out and looked at it. The tech said he couldn't find anything wrong so he left. From that point on, the unit was going off and on again until it just completely stopped. There was nothing but hot air coming out. I called AHS again and explained the situation to the rep.
There didn't seem to be a sense of urgency from the contractor because we were under a warranty. Their rep told me I'm a warranty and I don't have the priority. They were not very responsive until I called and then they were more responsive in coming back out. Brian from May came out and he looked at it. He said I didn't have any Freon and that there were leaks in various parts of the air conditioning unit. He came out last Friday and he said he can't fix it then and that we gotta go through the warranty process. I still don't have any air.

American Home Shield is our second home warranty company. I talked to other people that have them and researched through other home warranty companies. When our hot water tank was leaking, they were very fast to get somebody out there, diagnose the problem, and get it fixed that same day. I was happy about it. It's a lot faster through the day time to contact somebody. If not, they have a nice option into where they can call you back. They send somebody and it's very fast. If they can't do the job that day, somebody would be out the next day unless it was over the weekend when a lot of places are closed.

It was the first time I have ever used Home Shield and I'm not very pleased with the service. It was a big mix-up. I had to stay on the phone for an hour before I got to talk to somebody the first time. And then while we were talking, they put me on hold. Somehow we got disconnected. I had to call back. They set me up with somebody. It was on a Monday morning. The AC went out Sunday night some time. The contractor sent me an email saying it would be the following Monday before they would come out.
My son has asthma so it can't get too hot, and he has to have his breathing instrument every day. I had to call back in for that and I had to be on the phone forever for that. And then they said they would find somebody else. They found somebody. Keep in mind that the first people that they got me set up with was an hour away from where I live. That's probably why they said seven days because they probably don't come to this area. When they place an order, they need to know where I'm located and who the service provider is. And they don't need to be an hour away to come to your house. They need to be a local.
And then, Home Shield set me up with somebody else. The lady was nice. She was probably 15 or 20 minutes away from me. She said she would call me back the next morning and tell me when I would be put on the schedule. However, I never heard from her. And then, I called them back and they said the work order got canceled. I asked, "Well, how did it get canceled when I still have no air and nobody's been out to my house to fix it?" They said, "American Home Shield canceled it."
Rapp's came out fairly quick. The tech fixed it. Then I told him could he go up in the attic and check it out. My son was there. I told him, “He can show you where everything is. Can you go up there and check it out? Can you call me back and tell me what it is?" But he never called back. He just gave my son a part. And my son said he was only there 10 minutes at the most. He got it working again. Othar than that, Home Shield said they will reimburse me my service fee. They took it out that Tuesday. It's going on the third week and I still haven't got my money back. And then I had to waste my time being on hold again. It has been to the accounting department, and then it has already cleared that. And then it will be two or three days and I should have my money. I've been told that two times now. I don't understand.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I had my garage door, where it would just run and stop. It would not bring the garage door up. So that was the original issue that Ace of Spades Garage person came in and he first made some fixes. It seemed to be working and so they left for the day. The very next day, when I stepped in, my garage door was open. So the motor ran by itself and it brought the garage door up without me even turning on or using the remote. So that issue followed and then I gave a call again. That guy came and he said some socket was broken and he would put a new garage door opener.
Then he said that since I’m a customer of AHS, they would install the new garage door opener. For that, if it is to be a non-AHS customer they will charge 250. Since I’m an AHS customer they will charge me 150. Then I said, “Okay, in that case why should I go through AHS?” They said, “Whether you go through AHS or you go through us, it’s the same.” I said, “Fine. Then go ahead and do what you need to do.” Because it was like I’ve been following up with them and working on this request for almost two weeks now. I said, “Fine, you go ahead and fix it. And let me know.” I gave him a check of 150.
Two days later, I used the button on the walls and this new garage door opener was not working. I followed up with them. They kept saying, “Yes, we’ll come, we’ll come,” but they were not showing up. I went to the AHS app and said, “Still not fixed. I need the technician to come and take a look at it.” Since it went through AHS, that was when they were obligated to return my calls. The guy showed up late on Saturday 7:30 pm. He said, “Yes, there is no wiring from the wall.” So he put us on wire, and he ran it over the wall to the new garage door opener. It's working now. With American Home Shield, right now, I’m not a satisfied customer. Because I kept calling and yesterday, for another service request, I was on hold for almost two hours. Still, I did not end up getting connected with a person.

American Home Shield is easy to use. They're quick to respond and so far, very worth the monthly amount that I pay. I've told a few of my friends to go with them and they were rather shocked that there was even the ability to do that. My boss told me about this as did other people at work. So, these days, if I'm going to buy something, I’ll go online to do a search for reviews before I even think about going through a company. The technician came out for the garbage disposal and it was good. He had a mask on. He was very quick, pleasant and did what did what he had to do. He was gone in 5 minutes. It was just a blink.

So, we were checking what was going on and what was causing that to happen. The technician from Ryco Electric came out and when he took a look at it and examined it, he realized that the people who sold us the house wired the outside light incorrectly. He rewired the light and that took care of the problem. Aside from coming on time, he was able to accomplish the work. I like the ability to request services online with American Home Shield. Nobody answered me and so I hung up. The second time and third time, I waited two hours each and still I got no answer, so I hung up. I called again the next day when they first opened and after waiting an hour and a half, their reps finally answered the phone. Getting service to my home has been very easy with American Home Shield's online system. Their contractors are professional and they have sent persons out a second time for a continuing problem without charging us another service fee. Most recently, I had a claim for my AC and their contractor from Greenway Home Services came out to handle that. The tech then came back to the house and told me what AHS was gonna cover and we would be out of pocket $1,600 for something that we had already spent $600 on. Greenway was going to put a new system in with a warranty and deduct the amount that AHS will pay. We went that route and AHS did not pay anything to the contractor.
We have paid a lot of money over the years and the coverage we have gotten from Home Shield hasn't been that great. What we've paid for our service call isn't applied for any of the costs in many of the cases we've had for plumbing issues. We have been long-term customers and the money we've paid to AHS over the years could have paid for the cost of the replacement of our HVAC system. We are gonna end up canceling our warranty.

Numerous times, the problem is the ductwork and we can't get anybody to do that underneath the house. We had On Time Plumbing come out one time and they said they wanted to pay for that. I liked them. They're nice people as long as they know they're gonna get paid. However, my husband and I got pretty aggravated with American Home Shield because they were telling us that's not covered. We told them that we got it in our policy that the ductwork is covered. And so, when the guy came out again last month, he replaced the air filter. It took us about three weeks.
American Home Shield is really hard to get ahold of and I'm really disappointed. One agent tells somebody's coming out and then nobody comes out. They say they'd get back in 72 hours. We let seven days go by, then call them again and say that they're supposed to get back with us and they don't. When dealing with this on top of my son's passing away, it's very stressful.

A drain pipe was installed incorrectly, and when the Climate Masters guy came out, he realized what it was as soon as he saw it. Within 15 minutes, he was done, had it repaired, and he was out. The latest problem I had was on the air conditioner. The fan was running but it wasn't blowing cold air. He came out and looked at it. After talking to me on the phone, he said, "Well, it's probably a capacitor." And that was what it was. He was there for maybe half-hour. He changed it, fixed it and everything's been running fine ever since. So, I had a pretty good experience. I had to wait over the weekend for them to get back in touch with me and then come out, but that's how things are sometimes. It’d been more comfort issues than an emergent issue, so I’m not complaining about that.
Submitting claims to American Home Shield was pretty simple. When it wasn't too long after we moved in, we were doing some remodeling and found a plumbing issue. I called them and got ahold of them and said, "Hey, this is what I need." They sent somebody out within a day or two, and that issue was resolved. They were pretty quick to handle it and get somebody on the case. Every time I call, they issue a work order and they send it right to the contractors doing the work. Then I just call the contractor and confirm and make sure they got it. Everything's been pretty easy, pretty simple to deal with, and they've been very helpful. They've handled my claims as best they could. They sent it out to the contractor. Then when they had somebody available and in the area, they got him out here to fix the issue.

I had a leak under my bathroom sink. U.S. Plumbing and Rooter came out, and they had masks and booties on. It was easy doing the claim to American Home Shield. I did it over the phone. I had other plumbers here before and the one guy cut a hole in my ceiling, and they never did fix it. That wasn't even where the leak was. The leak was in the bathtub in the bathroom.
This is about my fourth time calling American Home Shield and with a plumbing issue. And there's always a different plumber that comes. It should be the same person. Sometimes if they've been to your house before, they know their way around, and they get right to the point. Not this time. The two guys that came this time were cool. There were no problems. But one time before, I had two different plumbers come. One guy was here for a whole hour and a half. That was the guy that cut the ceiling. He never did find the leak. The next guy that came found it in less than five minutes. It was right by the tub. If you see that one contractor has been out and he got a good review, that should be the same person that comes out again if necessary.

We first got American Home Shield last year when we bought the house and we renewed it for this year. They've been great and I don't have any problem with them. But I played telephone tag for a while with their AC guy. He was supposed to come last week but he got tied up. It's all good though. I have A-1 Electric coming in the next 30 minutes. The guy said that it was too much work to do all of this stuff to work, that apparently the previous owner is involved.
He suggested that I move the thermostat out of my grandson's room and put it in the hallway, which makes sense to me. For my house in Miami Beach, I don't have any thermostats in the bedroom. But the way the previous owner did it here in this house, she has a separate unit in her bedroom. There's a thermostat in my master bedroom but the rest is linked to this other AC and the control is in my grandson's room. Its wires would go through my son's room and so he's always hot. That's a problem.
Another problem with the AC was timing because I moved to Miami Beach and my daughter has been living at my house here. Every time I wanna set up an appointment for her to be here so that they could resolve the problem, she never wants to be here. It's unbelievable. She wants to use my house but she doesn't wanna do anything to help me so I can schedule service. Tomorrow, Supreme Appliances is supposed to come. All they have to do is take out the one refrigerator so that they could service it at their shop. My daughter could not give them a day for them to just come and take it out.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

AT Appliances came out in January to repair the microwave. They replaced the keypad thing and some other stuff. We didn't use it that much and then it stopped working again. We made sure American Home Shield sent out the same company because we didn't want them to send out somebody else and then they'll come out saying something else is wrong. So AT came out again and they fixed it. It seems to be fine right now. We didn't have a problem with the microwave, but when it comes to heating and air conditioning, i’s a totally different story. They send out people for years but whenever those kind of companies come out, all they do is try and rip you off. I don't know why American Home Shield don't even check.
A few years ago at the old house, the AC company came out and they said we needed Freon. The Freon is not covered much by American Home Shield, so that cost about $400 or $500. But it still wasn’t working. We called them out again and the next guy from the same company came out and said we needed Freon. We told him that they already put Freon in the last time. Then he said it must have leaked. We told him that their guy should have checked for a leak. So I told him to go in and then I called American Home Shield to send somebody else out. Then now, when we had a problem here with the AC, the company that American Home Shield was gonna send out was the one that we dealt with at the old house. I called American Home Shield and told them to send anyone else out but them. But then, they sent out the company.
The unit is on the second floor and we had a leak through the ceiling. I heard the tech talking and then they were saying that the drip pan where the water goes into needed to be replaced. They said that we can't order the drip pan by itself so we have to order the coil. I asked if it was all covered and they said, “Yeah.”
When they first got here, there’s a line where the excess water goes out. They said the line seems to be fine. When they left, they said that they need to order the coil and then I ran it that night, and it's working fine. So then I called the company and asked them to leave it at the moment and we will see what happens the next few days. When they were here, they gave me information on the cooling thing. But then I called a company in Texas and I asked about the drip pan. They told me that a drip pan can be ordered by itself and that it wouldn’t cost that much. So I called American Home Shield and told them we don’t want to do anything with this guy now.
American Home Shield gave me a quote and our share was like $2,600. But then, they were on about cash in lieu. Then somebody called me from American Home Shield the other day and they said they could give $1200. I explained everything that happened and the unit’s running fine but when they created the line, that was the problem. They’re sending out this bad company. I googled them and I saw the same things. I thought these were the old reviews from four years ago. Then I realized that people are still writing the same reviews now as four years ago about the Freon. When it comes to Freon, it still gets paid like $400 or $500, and they’re doing the same trick on everybody. So it means the home warranty doesn’t really do anything.
American Home Shield doesn’t even look at the reviews of the people they’re sending out. When I cancelled this guy who was coming out originally at this house, American Home Shield sent me this other company. Then I googled them and they’re 5 out of 5. I said, “Thanks, you’re sending us someone really good.” This time, I’ve got to the point where if you calculate what we’re paying American Home Shield, plus they’re trying to cheat us out of $2,000 each time they come out, it’s not worth having the home warranty.
These companies that they’re sending out are absolutely useless. When we had this leak here, pne of the guy that works for us at the house said he knows this company and they’re pretty much honest. When I called American Home Shield to ask if they're on their list, they said they're not on their list, so we couldn't choose them. But it’s better off to have a company that someone recommends and it's not gonna cost any more than it's gonna cost getting ripped off by these companies. It’s crazy.
When I called and talked to American Home Shield, it was fine. They have nice people working. But we don’t know what American Home Shield’s share is. We might be paying a whole lot and they get kickback from it. We’re thinking it’s better off to cancel this thing. I still got a bucket under the ceiling where it leaked last time in case somewhere along the line, it’s gonna start leaking. It must be four weeks now since the company came out and it hasn’t leaked.
Your frustration is understand regarding your most recent experience. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

American Home Shield is good. I had a claim for a washer and the contractor has to order a part for it.

We're happy with our plan with American Home Shield. We called them and their contractors came right away. The contractors that AHS sent out for our AC were very good. There was a broken wire and it was a straightforward and easy fix. The experience was very good. But I got a bill for something that I already paid for and I had to wait for them to call me back and it took an hour and a half. Other than that, we're in good shape.

My water heater was not working. I called AHS and they expedited it very quickly and clearly. They answered questions and told me that the repair people were gonna give me a call and come out within a couple of days. So it was very simple. The contractor that came was fine. He was courteous, gave me clear explanations, fixed it quickly and was okay. It’s been working fine since the repair. AHS was convenient and it’s a great service.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

It is incredibly important to have a home warranty especially if having an older home. I cannot afford to fix the things that needed to be fixed without insurance and so I've had AHS for 13 years now. It's just that the phone system is not great. It’s very difficult to get ahold of somebody and they don't tend to know what you're talking about when you ask them questions.
Recently, our appliance was not working. TNT Ventures texted us when they're gonna be there 10 minutes before they're gonna be there, and the timeframe that they're gonna be there. They came and said they had to order a part and they’d be back. Then they said it would take up to three weeks to get the part. I guess it was backordered. I like them. They were nice. They wore their masks and stayed away from us. They were in and out. They made all their phone calls outside.

For an issue with our AC, Burleson Services in Ocala was sent out after I made a request for it online with American Home Shield. That process was easy. I had spoken with reps on the phone and that was not as easy because usually, you get put on hold for an hour or so. Overall, we have had some issues but in general, American Home Shield remedies the issues even if it often takes two different contractors to come out. In the case of our AC, it's good now.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The fan wasn't blowing into one of the critical areas of our house and we called American Home Shield. The contractor came out and said that it was the variable speed motor. Such a motor had to be ordered, which would take a couple of weeks, but the technician that came out was excellent. He did a number of things to make sure it truly was the motor and not that the motor wasn't getting the right signal. Once he got the motor out, he plugged everything back in just to see that when the air conditioning came on, it didn't activate the motor. He determined that it was the motor itself so, I was pleased with that. It’s probably gonna be another week or so before we get the AC in but we feel comfortable that that was exactly what was wrong. Anthem has done a very good job.
On plumbing though, I had a difficult time. The single biggest complaint about American Home Shield is how long it takes to reach a person and the groovy new thing to do is have you do everything online. But on those times when you need to talk to somebody, for it to take five minutes of a big wrestling match with the voice response unit, where you press 1 for this and you don't press that, and 9 for Spanish, then this, then that and you miss it, and you get to start all over, just reaching somebody.
When you do reach somebody, it would be so wonderful to get somebody that you could actually understand. Every once in a while, I would get somebody where English is their first language and you would know you're communicating. But there were other times when I was constantly asking what and saying I don't understand. And we go back and forth. The reps are very nice people but communication is so difficult. As you get older, it gets harder to understand people with different accents.

Our Samsung refrigerator started flashing all kinds of numbers and it kept going into demo mode which was turning the icebox off. We called American Home Shield and they sent out Coastal Appliance. The company called to let me know when they’re coming. When they got here, they had the mask. They also did their distance. They said that they needed to change out all the touchscreen. They bought the whole assembly and changed it out.
About a week later, it started flashing different codes again so we called American Home Shield. They sent the guy back out and said to try a reset. They did a hard reset. A week has gone by and there was no problem. Today, I walked up to the icebox and it has another code on it that says AP. I called Coastal and they said that I have to go through American Home Shield. I understood that. I was just trying to figure out what AP stood for. It still has the code AP on it and they're gonna be back out again tomorrow to look at it. This has been the third call.
Coastal Appliance has been very cooperative. It’s just that we still have an issue. It might be a bad circuit board that they purchased. Then this one here, we cannot reset. Also, there is another code on the icebox. I cannot find anything online that said anything about an AP. So, through all the Samsung codes and going through all the little reboots, I don’t like those. I don't wanna unplug the unit because I don't wanna shut down something that's running and I might not start back up. I talked to a lady earlier today and she told me she would call me this afternoon and let me know what time they're showing up tomorrow. I've also used American Home Shield on my water well that has gone out twice. The company came out and replaced my water well for me. Also, the washing machine went bad and a company came out and fixed that. Then they were a little long on the hot water heater because we're trying to find somebody to do it.
