I've always used the website when filing claims and I've never had any problems. I just point and click and choose, then they assign me someone. I love it. I knew exactly what company was coming and when they were coming. With my recent air conditioning issue, the technician who was there used his connector thing and determined there was no power to the unit. I went down several floors to my basement fuse box. Right there was the fuse marked AC that was turned off. I just turned it on and it was fixed. After we did that, we talked about maybe the unit's getting old, so possible replacements, roughly how that works, how to get it up there, the cost, and he knew his stuff. It couldn't have been easier with American Home Shield. It's not cheap to get it, so people have to weigh that against the age of their appliances and possible issues that come up.

Our air conditioner went out. Within a few hours, somebody was calling me back to schedule the person. So, it was very quick. The tech was very nice and knowledgeable. A little critter of some kind had eaten through a part of the wire. They got it resolved that day. Generally, it would cost a lot more to have my air conditioner looked at, plus the other things I've had done over the years. So, having American Home Shield is definitely worth it.

I had a claim for a dishwasher and a range. That guy knew his work. The only thing was that he was delayed in bringing it, but he was very good. He was full of knowledge and he fixed it right at that point. Today, a company came for an air condition problem. The person was good to talk to. He did not fix up the problem, but he was also full of knowledge and professionalism. I loved it.

The ice maker and the waterline was not working. They fixed it. It was a good experience. Everything went right. The contractor provided good service. I was told that they don't replace filters, which was a disappointing aspect of it. It was one of requests that I had when I made the request for a repair. I gave the filter, serial numbers and everything to have that filter pulled out. Because I've never had a filter like that and replaced.
When one of the air conditioner’s power plug burnt out, the tech resolved the problem right away. He got it up and running. He was very professional. I was very happy. So far, I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I'm glad that I have it. American Home Shield has really helped me through this whole ordeal. They know what you’re doing and I appreciate it.

A tech came through to fix the kitchen sink that was backed up. He did let us know he was on his way which I thought was courteous. He knew what he was doing and told us that if we had a problem, we could call him back. But everything has been functioning well since he came. So far, we're satisfied with American Home Shield. I will recommend that others use American Home Shield if they have problems with the house 'cause you don't want anything to go wrong with the house and have nobody to call.

The ac guy came out and said something that goes inside the unit outside was shot, and we needed a new one. And then, they would get it rescheduled and they would replace it for us. After not hearing back for a couple of weeks, we called American Home Shield and said, “Hey, when will you have somebody come install our new air conditioning?” They said, “Oh, it’s not covered under warranty. Because there were some exterior damage, and that could’ve contributed to why the condenser inside failed. And therefore, not covered.” So, we're paying out of pocket to have a new air conditioning we need to put in. I am not happy about that. Also, they gave us a lot of trouble on the water heater because they claimed there was a lot of regulatory changes that had to be made. So, we had to spend $800 on the water heater ourselves because they would only cover the tank, not anything that attached to it. I’m thinking about canceling American Home Shield.

The Sears guy was really good and knowledgeable, and he explained everything. He was very professional and cleaned up after himself. He told us how to maintain the appliance, so it was a really good experience. Doing the service request to American Home Shield was a little more painful. The dropdowns and the online thing could be a little more cleaner. The process was very quick and easy, though.

When I put in a request, I get service right away. We’ve had our dishwasher and our refrigerator fixed. It went good. Recently, we requested service for our air conditioner, and the repair guy was knowledgeable, on time, and efficient. He did it quick too. It was a good experience. The only thing that I didn't like was we had to pay for the Freon that American Home Shield didn't cover. Other than that, they did a good job.

Our AC went out and it took the contractor two days till they got out there. But when the guy got out there, he was real friendly and nice. It just took him a few minutes to figure out exactly what the issue was. The issue was a capacitor and he had another one in his truck. So he went and got that. Then he said he was going to check everything else to make sure there were no other issues. He knocked it out and we were good after that. It's really easy to submit a claim to AHS. I just get online and fill out a couple of things. They call or I call them and everything's good. I like having AHS. It's always helpful whenever something goes wrong.

I submitted a claim for a refrigerator that went out recently. First, I wanted Service Mechanical to come out and I called them to see if they did that. They said, no, they don't do work on refrigerators, so I moved down to their selection. The people that AHS selected for me shot me an email saying that they could not get to the refrigerator until the middle part of June, and then, their suggestion for me was to call American Home Shield and reschedule with someone else. I called back American Home Shield and told them that but they didn't care. The guy on the phone wasn't trying to hear that. "You just gonna have to wait until I get in touch with them." I said, "Switch people, I have a baby I'm trying to fix this for." He didn't care. I wouldn't recommend AHS.

It made the home more comfortable now that it's getting so hot out. He provided very good service.

The people who came told me that the Freon was low. The AC wasn't cooling. The first fellow that came checked it out and he said it appears that there's a leak somewhere in the system. The Freon isn't staying in where it should be. So, he said that he went back to the office and he said that they will send out a second guy to come. He checked out to see where the leak is. He took out whatever Freon was left and then put in hydrogen into the system. He tried to find out where the leak was and correct it. That was yesterday. Now, when he was finished, he told us the leak apparently was in the coil, somewhere in the unit, and that did have to be replaced.
They're supposed to call me back because they said the coil is covered and some accessory parts. But he said there may be some modification of the unit involved where we may have to get a permit. I said, “What about the grandfather clause while you’re modifying something?” He said, “Yeah, we have to bring it up to code.”

This is the worst company I have ever worked with. All they care about is collecting your monthly contract fee. I have an open repair in my house for 2 years now. I had to take 12 days off from work for failed service appointments. When I call back to the company for status updates, no one can ever give you the same answer, or a straight answer. The wait times for calls are a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour, just to get on a call with someone who knows nothing about your claim. There is never a supervisor to speak to available, and no one will give you their names or contact information to get in touch with. I strongly recommend you use a different company.

I am a homeowner that has more than one account and I'm at the point of just dropping AHS. When it comes to items that need to be replaced it a slow-moving process. My ac is past the point of being replaced and even though every tech tells me that I need a new one AHS always just patches it up... The ac is over 20 years old. Every year I have at least 3 ac requests for just one property because the patchwork repairs are only a temporary solution. My Goodman ac is so old there is no longer any replacement part for it. According to the techs that have come out during the years of patching it AHS is requesting universal parts knowing it is only a temporary fix.
As of today 05/27/21, the repair company claim they sent in the report to replace the ac unit on 05/23 and AHS is still saying they have nothing. As a customer, I have no option but to wait. While my tenants are having no ac. This can cause me issues as a landlord. Every year having ac issues because of the patchwork is unacceptable. What is the customer paying AHS for? Just take a look at the history of my account. Another issue is how does AHS keep records of repairs if they allow providers not to submit reports. 2 of my request for 2020 have no information regarding repair because no report was submitted. If the repair is less than a certain amount no report is required according to AHS. How is AHS fully assisting the customer when it does not keep track of all repairs?
AHS takes money then acts as if they have no power when it comes to provider issues. When it comes time for repair/replacement it takes days for AHS to claim they received the report. However when it is a claim that AHS can deny somehow the report come instantly. I have a call or denial email before the 20-minute drive from my home. How are denials reports received so quickly when all others take days? AHS is stalling trying to do the least to fix the item that they can.
We do appreciate you sharing your feedback and providing your experience thus far. We do apologize for the delay in the repairs related to the air conditioner, and would be more than happy to assist with a resolution. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

I've been without a refrigerator since January. When I submitted the claim, I called them, they set it up, and I paid $100 upfront. Rick's Appliance came out and the fridge needed a part. AHS told me that the part came in and it shipped out to the tech. I called the tech and he said that it hasn't. AHS said they were gonna have to trace the part. They didn't trace anything because they didn't send anything. Then, it took a long time to get it.
It was a horrible experience. I threw so much food away until it wasn't funny because I was living out of the ice chest. Then, I couldn't keep my medicine and stuff in there because it's so hot out here. I called AHS practically every day about my fridge. I went through a lot with them - like canceling a doctor's appointment. Luckily, I still paid my $31 a month. Rick fixed the fridge but it took a long time. AHS messed me up. Their reps tell you anything to get you off the phone and I had a hard time.

One of the major things that went wrong was a stove. One of the burners went out and a fellow came out and had to assess the problem. He ordered the part. I like the pricing of American Home Shield and being able to pay the one fee, and then not having to worry about price after that. My AC just stopped cooling. The tech ended up checking if there was a leak in the coil. He had to replace the coil of my AC. I've had problems with my AC for a couple of times now. This was the first time that Andrews Heating & Cooling came out. Their tech seemed a lot more knowledgeable than the other company that had been sent out before, and he fixed the problem. He was very upfront with me and explained what he was thinking and what the problem was and what-not. Air Pro Masters came in regards to a garbage disposal issue. They were timely, understanding and patient. There was water leaking from an unknown location. They determined that was the garbage disposal. It was soaking up the bottom of the cabinet. I submitted the claim for it through American Home Shield's website. It seemed like it was very narrow in options for like specific things, but the other options did help out. As far as like plumbing issues, they address properly what were the expectations of what the service person could fulfill and what would be either an insurance claim or something that isn't covered on the warranty. The automated service said to expect the call within the next day and then the call happened. Within the next business day, I was able to have them show up. American Home Shield is good. They jump right on it and they get a contractor going. You just got to watch the contractor that comes out. My air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling. I would set at 75, get up to 79 and stay there. The first time the guy came out, it wasn't doing it. I said, "It only does it in the heat of the day. When you come out when it's raining and cold, it’s not going to kick on.” Then the second guy came out and the same thing. It was raining that day. I said, “You need to come when it’s hot. You can see.” They were just checking the Freon. The first one said, “Nothing's wrong with the unit.” The second guy said, “You just need a bigger unit.” I said, “No. I've been having this unit. It’s been cooling all along."
Last night when the fan was squealing, I recorded that so they could hear the sound that it was making. I talked to a guy from AHS last night, and he got another supposed to be coming out for a second opinion. Then the guy called me this morning, "We're just a second opinion. If there’s something wrong, we're not authorized to fix it." I said, “Why are you coming?” He said, “All we can do is just report back to AHS what we found.”

The tech for our rekey was in a hurry and he mis-screwed something with his drill. He also had problems with the sliding door lock. That hung him up for an extra hour over here. It wasn't the best experience overall, but we got most of the locks changed. Some of AHS's contractors are better than others. I had a backed up drain and I had an emergency. I called AHS and they said they don't handle emergencies. So, they couldn't send out a plumber to handle the backed up drain. I had to go out and spend $200 of my money to get a Roto-Rooter guy to take care of it. But overall, I've called AHS four times and they've gotten a contractor out in a timely manner.

When we had the guy come out for the ceiling fan, it was positive and professional. It was kind of quick, but it went flawlessly. He fixed it. He seemed like he knew what he was doing. So for that particular experience, we had a great experience. But when you call the plumbing people, sometimes you get somebody who knows what they're doing, and other times, you're not really sure. We had recurring toilet problems.
In general, we get our money's worth with American Home Shield particularly because we have a 20 year old house, and it wasn't that well maintained. So we've had an HVAC unit and a water heater replaced by them. It's been worthwhile because we had a couple of big ticket things that went while we were under contract. In both cases, we didn't just take the replacement. We took the money and got something better. We went from two water heaters to one, and on the HVAC unit, we went for an upgrade beyond what had been in here before. I’ve recommended American Home Shield to some of my friends who were in similar situations. We’re happy not having to seek out a plumber when something happens.

They diagnosed the problem prior to coming out and then gave me my option as far as replacing the unit or just replacing the evaporator coil. I chose to do the coil because I couldn't afford to replace the unit. And it's working fine.
I've had this repairperson for my air conditioning unit. And previously, AHS sent a plumber out. I also had a refrigerator issue and they sent someone out and it was fixed on the first try. It was taken care of. So far, I've been satisfied. I have an older unit, so having that warranty has helped. We got a yearly check for the AC unit and the gentleman informed us that the coil went out. We had to get some more coolant and he quoted a price. We had some coverage on that, which was why I called and started a claim with American Home Shield. I informed them so we could get somebody to check it and confirm about the coil and that we needed some coolant in our HVAC. The guy from Moreno Plumbing Heating & Cooling came out and confirmed that the coil was possibly going out but they had to do another test and he didn’t have the machinery to do it at that date. So, he would come back with the machinery. He came back a few days later and confirmed that the coil went out and that it will take three weeks to get the new coil part.
During that time, they asked me to look into it and see if it was still under warranty. We had just moved in on December of 2019 and I called the company that owned the home before and asked about it. They gave me the information and I relayed it to Moreno, and the lady contacted the direct company that sold the HVAC to the company that had it previously. They replaced it with no cost to me. So that was a good thing. The part was ordered and it took about three weeks to get it in, and then Moreno came in. My husband was there and they informed him of what was going on, and did a great job.
It would be great for AHS to email me, letting me know what's going on in their side. I never received an email, a call or anything telling me that it was approved, that they were waiting for the part and that they spoke to Moreno on behalf of us. I had to call a couple of times to see what was going on. The person on the phone said it was denied and I said that it was in pending status. Then, I called back and got another person saying that it was on pending status. So, I got conflicting information from AHS, on our behalf.
I called Moreno and talked to them, and they clarified it. They had spoken to AHS and that it was still in pending status but it was still a go and just waiting for the part to come in. And it did, and the guy and his coworker did very good and satisfactory work. Crystal, the rep that I was talking to on a regular basis said that I was going to get an email from AHS saying pending or that they talked to Moreno. I never received an email, which was why I called, because I was concerned if it wasn't going to be covered or if I was going to be responsible for it. That's a big chunk of money coming out on both of our sides and I wanted to make sure that we were communicating. And there was no communication.

It took us more than two months to have somebody come and I had to pay that person extra to fix it. I don't know how many times I had to call then call back. It was horrible. I would never have expected this happens with American Home Shield. I was so happy with them till this one. We have had so much good experience with them. Some people are doing a good job but one rotten apple makes everything looks bad. Part of it was the miscommunication about the person who is assigned to answer the client. I have called five or six of the people who answered the phones and none of them has even been in contact with each other. I asked one of them, “Would you promise to call me back in the next day so I know what's going on?” Even though he promised he would, he never called back.
The problem is when you submit a claim, American Home Shield is saying somebody will contact you. But some of these contractors call the client and ask for extra money even before coming. This is the thing that is not acceptable. American Home Shield doesn't check anything on their contractor. They are just working as a third party and don't come back to listen to the experience that the people have with these contractors.

I thought the AC was just blowing out warm air. But it turned out that the motor was burned out, so it wasn't turning on and causing the air to cool. The contractor was supposed to order a part and then come back. But it hasn't happened yet. I've been told three times that there will be a follow-up. But nobody follows up with me. I ended up calling and the last message I got was the day before yesterday. I was told that somebody will call me back yesterday morning with an update. It never happened.
When the contractor came to visit the house to do the repairs, they were really professional. They were really helpful and friendly. The frustration has just started since they told me that a part needed to be ordered and I was told a handful of times that it was supposed to come in. First, it was supposed to come in last week, and then I was told it was gonna come in Monday. But it didn’t happen. I didn’t hear anything. Tuesday rolled by and I’m lost at this point.

I wish American Home Shield's copay wasn't so high, but that's fine. I just paid $100 for an electrician to come to my house and show me how to correctly turn the switch, which is kind of a slap in the face. Even the guy felt so bad. He knew I had to pay $100 deductible. He was very helpful. He could have just fixed the issue and went on about his business, but he was nice enough to educate me on my own switchbox, that there’s a certain way you have to switch it. I went down there and fiddle-faddled. So I felt stupid, and he felt kind of dumb that it was already charged. He was nice enough to teach me.

The tech was very good and informative. We had a unit outside that was not working and we found out the battery needed to be replaced. He also changed some of the settings and it's working now. Also, I had my dishwasher for more than 15 years and it was found that it could not be replaced because it was an old version. AHS ended up replacing it with a new one. I was very satisfied. All in all, American Home Shield is very dependable and you don't have to worry about anything on your appliances.

When I would submit a claim with AHS, I'd rather talk to somebody than do it online. Because that way, it would give me a chance to explain to them what was going on. Then, I told them that the previous air conditioner people that they sent last year tore down my brick walls. I said, “They can’t come to my house anymore.” They were rude. When I called back to the office, she told me that she spoke with the guy who came out. He said he didn't do it. I said, “It was up before he came and serviced it so he must have torn it down.”
The other contractors were great. There was one that came out for the air conditioning. Then, there was one who came out for an electrical problem. They were super nice, professional and just great. One was an older man and that was the electrician. Then, the guy, Blake, who came out the last week was a really nice guy. He was friendly, very detailed on what he was doing, what the problem was, and got it fixed. He was in and out. I also had my whole house rekeyed once I purchased it, and I got everybody in and out. I would recommend AHS. When I needed a service to come, they were Johnny-on-the-spot.

My airconditioner wouldn't cut on. American Home Shield told me that someone would reach out to me within 24 to 48 hours. The contractor came out and looked at my unit. I liked them better than the other people that used to come out. My air is working. They just explained to me more what was going on with it. I've had my house for two years. This is my third summer with my house. And every year, I've had to call and they've had to put Freon in it. Nobody ever told me that I had a leak. Nobody said anything. They would just put the Freon in it and fill out the paperwork, and I would pay for it and go. So, it was nice to have somebody explain to me what was going on, give me different options for what I could do, versus just coming out here, servicing it, and leave. It's running fine, but I have to buy a new unit. That was something that was never explained to me before. But it's working great right now.
This is my first time ever owning a home and I've had to use AHS for several things. They always seemed to contract the same company, which I'm dealing with them with another issue and it has not been pleasant. But the fact that they went out and got another company to service this air conditioner, I hope that they do the same and drop this other company. I love the whole air conditioner process and I hope that once I get this new issue resolved that they will switch companies.
I've never had an issue with this company before and they're the ones that have always come out and serviced whatever was needed to be done. So, I was a little skeptical when the new company came out, but they were awesome. I'm hoping that AHS has seen it is an issue and they're changing it. And to me, it looks like they are because the new air conditioner company is great. I would recommend them to somebody.

I didn't even bother going through the warranty anymore 'cause he would have been the one assigned. Some of the vendors care more about keeping the business of the warranty company than doing a really good job for the customer. While that experience was not great, it's not American Home Shield's fault. What they provide is very streamlined and they make it easy. With that one exception with the pool, the other people they send have been really good. The company that did our fridge was amazing. The tech knew what was wrong and fixed it.

So, they had to come back out again. AHS waived the second fee of the service charge of $100 and when the contractor came back out, they put a new garbage disposal in and made it safe for me to use it. The repair helped good. Recently, we also had a water softener installed. The gentleman American Home Shield sent came on time, installed it all the way, and cleaned up. He was very professional. This was our first home with a water softener. He explained how to use it and when to put in the salt. It went very well. Also, submitting the request was simple except for the extra charges. I was under the impression that it was a $75 fee. In this new house, we had our water heater done and our house re-keyed as well. Even before we bought the house, the water heater was leaking. We noticed it in our walkthrough day and that was done perfectly and quickly.
Now, with the water softener, we owed another $65. It was a little hard to understand the lady who was explaining it to me. She said it was because of something that they considered not normal in the installation. I've called Metro and asked them what they understood, and they just said that this seems to be the new way of this warranty company's doing it. I'm not sure what, but something has changed. I believe going forward that there will always be charges when we were told there wouldn't be.

I never got a message that the booster pump wasn't covered. I'd expected it because the repair person had warned me about it. All I got was an email that said call a number. When I called the number, it said there was a wait time of 45 minutes. I eventually got a paper letter in the regular mail a couple of weeks later. It's not difficult to send the same letter by email. I'm not complaining that it wasn't covered because I understand American Home Shield can't cover everything. Plus it was really old and needed to be replaced. The main issue that I had was simply that the communication, for 2021, seemed very unusual that I got an email to call a number and when I called the number, I got one of those old style 1990s prompt and the wait time was approximately 45 minutes. Then I got a paper letter.
The contractor that came to look at the pump, Watertight Pool & Spa, told me the name of the pump and said, "If you get the pump, go online and we'll come back and install it." It turns out they don't make that pump anymore and that's not what people are installing anymore. When I called Pinch A Penny, a local store that also does repairs, the lady that owned the store told me immediately they don't make the pump anymore which is why I couldn't find it online. They recommend another pump which is way quieter and more energy efficient. It's from the same manufacturer. That's what they installed.
Pinch A Penny's service fee was $25 more than what I was told. Watertight Pool & Spa quoted me $125 to come back and do the install. Pinch A Penny quoted me $150 but when they came out, they also noticed some leaks in the system which I had noticed and asked the Watertight Pool & Spa people about. They didn't do anything about that and the other folks at Pinch A Penny fixed the leak for free. They just cut the pipe, put the new pipe in and didn't charge me a dime for it because it wasn't a big deal. They do it all the time. All the pumps, not just the one that was replaced, are way quieter. I was concerned that they had stopped working but they were just very quiet because of that repair of the pipe that had been done. I really like Watertight Pool & Spa. I've dealt with them before and I don't have a problem with them. But in terms of expertise, I tend to trust the Pinch A Penny folks more.
We've used American Home Shield a few times and we like them a lot. More than anything, what we like about it is that they have relationships with repair people in the area so we know that we're not going to get scammed. Since I spoke to a couple of different companies, I knew what was going on with the pump. But had I not known and just called up some random company, I have no idea how much it would have ended up costing me. Maybe it's the same in the end but it's a much bigger risk on my part. American Home Shield has vetted these folks. They watch over what these folks do. If a pump just needs a new seal, they aren't going to pay $500 to have the pump replaced.
We tell people when the subject comes up that we have this American Home Shield contract for years. Mostly, we tell people that it gives a peace of mind that you're getting good service and that you're not getting ripped off when something is broken. Most of the things in the house are covered. A few things aren't and we wish that they were all covered. The water softener was not covered and we had to replace that shortly after we moved into the house.

The claim process can use some work. My experience with the last company was good. But what happened was I called and AHS assigned it to a company. When the young lady from the company called me, she asked me what was going on, and I said the freezer had gone out. Then she said it would take them five to seven days to get the part in. I asked what part, since no one came out and looked at it yet. She said that in their experience, when the freezer goes out, it's this and it's gonna take them that time for the part to come in. I've never seen someone diagnose a problem over the phone.
I reached back out to AHS and when I told them what happened, they said that there was no other company that could come out. Everybody else was that same time frame so I said that I'd just keep that appointment. The next day, the first company called me back and I told them that I have an appointment. When I called AHS, they told me that they reached out to the first company and confirmed that that was the first appointment they had. The next day, the lady called me and I said I have an appointment. She said she gave an appointment to someone else. I told her that the company told me they called and confirmed it with AHS, and she said nobody called them. I reached back out to AHS again, and mysteriously, I got a company to come out the same day.
The technician called me first and told me where he was and asked if he could come that day at 4:00, or if that wouldn't work for me, he could come in the morning. I told him same day works. AHS wind up replacing the refrigerator. I had to buy a new one, and then I sent them the receipt for it. But it shouldn't take going through all that, having a warranty service in something as crucial as a freezer, because the freezer went out first, then the refrigerator went out three days later. Then you're talking about you're losing your food.

Didn't listen, was here about five minutes, took weeks to get a part back and then weeks to get him to come out and put it in. He put it in but it didn't work, so we had to borrow a refrigerator from someone because this one, you couldn't put anything that had to be cold in it. Finally, we got someone else to come out. He came out right away. He wasn't friendly, but he was fast, polite and professional. And he figured it out, got the part, and it has worked ever since.
There was a huge snowstorm right when that was going on, and people's furnaces were going out and water lines were breaking. We had a lot of snow and it was all over this area, so all the people that do HVAC were called out on services, and they somehow got somebody here. We had our heating and our AC spring cleaning check the year before and AHS sent a company out of St. Louis called Budget. They actually sabotaged my system so that the R134a Freon that's getting so hard to find now, as I have an older system, had to have leaked out. They told me all the pressures were good when they were there, then within two days, my AC turned hot. AHS sent out Freedom Heating and Cooling. They checked it and they said that the system didn't have any pressure and Freon in it. I told them that Budget came two days before and they said it was fine. Freedom said that it was not the first time they've heard that after following up behind that company on another call. So, I've put a note on our file with AHS that Budget is not allowed anywhere on my property. But they didn't put it in there permanently.
Last year, when they first scheduled the spring cleaning check, they scheduled Budget. I called and told them about the note. Besides that, it didn't make sense or money-wise to send somebody all the way from St. Louis when they have contractors right in the Washington-Union area. I told them to just send Freedom from then on because they're a veteran-owned, family-owned business, and they take care of people.
When they did that to me, they took care of it at no extra charge, and they filled it. The stuff's like 120 bucks a gallon and so it would have been like $700 to $800 charge to refill it completely. American Home Shield only pays for the first 1 or 2 liters or gallons, and then after that, it's the homeowner's responsibility. So, they did it for nothing. I really like the owner, Chad, and his dad. They're great people. Recently, when we had our usual, normal spring cleaning and maintenance, Freedom Heating and Cooling also came and found that a capacitor was faulty when they tested it. They had one, then they came, got the work order especially for that, and then they came back and put it in later that afternoon.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

We had an ice storm and a bunch of pipes frozen in our town, so they were backed up, but it was not an emergency situation on our end. We had to go and edit the claim request to make sure that it was all covered and in there. The plumber was awesome. He's the one that went through and did a walkthrough to see what was going on, and then updated all of his information. He came that morning and got it all fixed by the time he left.
The other people replaced our entire air conditioning unit, so it was great. I was $200 out of pocket as opposed to six grand. We like American Home Shield. We were having a leak in our master bathroom in the showerhead and EJ's came out and said that in order to fix it, they would have to take out the water heater, which is directly on the opposite wall. They were putting in an order to get approval to do that. It took four weeks that we didn't hear anything and we kept calling back and finally asked American Home Shield to assign someone else. EJ's group seemed very personable, but the guy was young and he didn't communicate very well what all needed to happen. The group that came out after that fixed it right away. But they didn't have to take out the water heater.
American Home Shield was fine. It's just when I called, they kept saying that they would have to contact EJ's first. So, that's part of the reason it got drawn out so long because they tried to connect with EJ's three times, when I finally said that I was going to just cancel American Home Shield because we weren't seeing the value out of some of the things that we had been putting in for. That particular showerhead had been leaking for quite some time. It was really creating a problem in terms of just adding to the water bill. In trying to get it resolved, we were trying to figure out do we have to redo our whole bathroom or what's going on. So, my husband was saying he didn't think he saw the value in it, we should drop it, especially if it's costing us more in the end than the benefit to having it. But in the end, when I finally was able to connect with somebody a couple of times, the last person was very proactive and would call me to give me updates on my case.
Depending on what you call for, you can get value out of the warranty. For example, there's something probably wrong with my air conditioning unit, because every year we have to call and get the Freon added, and it seems like a lot of Freon. I never had to do this at any of my old houses, even in my old houses that weren't comparable in size, it wasn't that often. We were having some problems with it before where it's very loud. But I keep getting told that there's really nothing wrong with it. I don't know if that means it's still serviceable and workable or there's really nothing wrong with it.

I called American Home Shield and they said that there are other choices. I could find a local contractor that could replace or I could order through the home warranty. I decided to replace through the home warranty because it was kind of faster. They said that could take 8 business days or so. On the 2nd or 3rd business day, they called me that the technician wanted to schedule an appointment. We said okay and they said they were doing the time between noon and 4 PM. But they showed up at 6 PM and I was not there. They just dropped the item and went. We had to pay another technician to install it.
American Home Shield needs to be sued to punish them. They never do anything completely. They play a game with the technician. We pay $75 for the technician’s one minute of work. They find a way to have the $75 for no work. The money is already in their pocket. If a small thing is missing, they will say it’s not in compliance with the code. They just go with the $75 in their pocket all the time.

The last time that United Air Temp came out, the guy claimed that the leak was coming from cracks at the back of the shower because caulking was missing from there. However, when one's in the shower or anytime anybody's running water in the shower, water doesn't go back that far to the area that he pointed out where the leak is coming from. Now, if water is poured directly into those cracks, then perhaps it would come through. The first time, they cut holes in my ceiling and they couldn't find a leak.
This past Friday, AHS sent another company out, Circa Services. The guy was here for less than 10 minutes and he agreed with me that the water was coming from the drains, was leaking from the drain, and not from the area that he had described. He even ran water in the shower for two to three minutes and the water didn't even go back that far. So, he agreed with me that it's not coming from those cracks in the tile. It has to be coming from the shower pan or shower.
When he left that day, he said he was going to contact American Home Shield and see what he was going to do. He said AHS was not going to pay for him to tear out the shower and replace the pan and all that. I told him to find out what would be the next step from American Home Shield because if they at least fix the plumbing, then I'll pay for all the tile work and whatever else. Right now, I just want it to stop leaking. Since then, nobody ran in that bathroom, but it still leaks, and now it's still leaking from somewhere besides the shower.
Everybody who I talked to at Home Shield seemed to try to help for the most part. Whenever I've called, they seem to try to find a resolution. But sometimes, that resolution is like calling the same company back and saying, "They need to come back out and tell us whatever." Since they didn't tell AHS that the first time, how come they're gonna come back and do what they need to do the second time? They sent United out twice, and then the third time, they sent someone different, and I still don't have a resolution. The contractors that were sent out could care less.
I'd like some type of resolution in that if the client is not satisfied with the contractor they sent out, if the contractor is given the option of picking their own repair person, even if they have to pay the difference, would be awesome. I have a plumbing company that I used before I started using American Home Shield and they were great. They're just not one of their contractors. For the most part, Home Shield's been good, until this one situation.

I called American Home Shield to see if my pool heater was covered. The gentleman that answered the phone said yes and set a schedule for a company to come. When the company came, they said that they don't work on pool heaters. He then called American Home Shield and they said that the pool heater was not covered under my policy. But when I initially called, I specifically said three times when I requested the inquiry about the pool heater that it was a pool heater and not a water heater. I called American Home Shield the day after and I was on the phone for 30 minutes. Whoever it was that put me on hold hung up on me and never came back online. It's been about a week that I spoke to someone and I haven't been reimbursed for my deductible. I want a refund on the other work order that I asked for.
I called again and I didn’t get an answer. I'm still waiting to hear back from American Home Shield. Other than this claim, I've been satisfied with my home warranty. Their claim process is easy and simple. I had a claim for my AC unit and that was fine. the only thing is American Home Shield should let their customers know what the policy is and what is covered under it.

American Home Shield sucks. I’ve had them for a long time and I had nine properties with them. Their service has become worse and worse. Their contractors are horrible. There are delays in getting repairs done and getting the reports back. So that's the reason why I cancelled them. They also just deny everything. They're not consumer-directed. They're only about contracting. They don't have contractors that are good. They don't have a timely turnaround. They don't really listen to the customer or allow for you to upgrade or do an appeal of a denial. When you ask for people to call you, they say they’re not gonna call you back or there's never a manager back. Their standard answer is “24 to 48 hours, someone will get back to you.” But they never do. For my last problem, I had to call about eight times. They won’t cover anything and they do everything not to cover it. It’s not worth it.

The PVC piping had come loose from our bathtub and flooded our basement. We were without water to that area for about 3 days because American Home Shield couldn't get a contractor out for 3 days. Most of the time, it's been pretty positive with American Home Shield. It's been a day or so to get someone out. But in that instance, I was a little unhappy because they said they didn't have a secondary contractor that they could assign to come out and look at it. They apparently are fixed on one contactor and that's the only one they're using in the St. Louis area. But we didn't have any issues with the plumber when he came out. He did the job correctly and we didn't have any more leaks after that.
We did have them out one time for a water heater issue. We were told that the water heater couldn't be replaced once it was leaking. It's still an ongoing issue where the water heater heats water for some of the day, that if you take a shower and you go out later to try and take an additional bath or shower, you get cold water. We were told by the plumber that we would have to go out and buy a new water heater. That'd be our expense. American Home Shield wouldn't cover it unless it was leaking into the basement or flooding the basement before they could replace. Other than that, American Home Shield has been okay for minor things. They had a special for $75 to come out and do a pre-season cleaning for the air conditioner and we took advantage of that. To get our air conditioner prepped for the summer was a good service. When we first moved in, it was also a good service to have the key locksmith come out and rekey the locks for the home.

American Home Shield then came back and told us what company they were gonna send and gave their phone number. They said the company would call us but I always take the initiative so I called them. Technicians were able to come the next day, which was shocking because usually, you got to wait for these things. The two technicians were very polite and they brought a mask. They took care of business and the AC is good now. This was a positive experience. My only issue with American Home Shield is sometimes it's very taxing when you're calling a call center in India and nobody understands you. It's just that people read from a script. The tech was able to get out that same day, so it was excellent. I don't plan for the appliances to go out. But when they do, having the warranty is convenient to a point where they find the servicer as well as the fact that I don't pay those outlandish fees especially sometimes it's an emergency. When doing it within 24 hours, then oftentimes, there's an additional fee for emergency. With paying the amount every month, and then, only having a deductible quote is definitely a game changer.

Our AC wasn't working, then it was working, and then it wouldn't turn off. I called and I really liked the company that came. On the other hand, I had an issue last year. I had a follow-up claim to an AC because I had a company that came out and they couldn't fix it. They sent me this other company. The guy didn't even look at the AC and told me that American Home Shield would not fix it anyway and for me just to call them on my own and get a new AC unit. I also got charged another 100 when it was supposed to just be a follow-up.
I found out later I should have not paid double. Because I wasn't aware of that until I called for this, AHS told me, "No, on a follow-up, you don't pay." If the first company couldn't fix it, I should have not paid the second company, but I did. I know it's in the contract, but it should be posted somewhere on a follow-up you don't have to re-submit a claim. 'Cause then, it became a headache. When I called the agent, the first agent said he wasn't able to fix it. I was told to go back online and resubmit. This last time I called, they said, "No, they should have not done that." They scheduled someone as soon as possible, but when the technician came, he said he couldn't find any problem. He said air comes from the freezer, so the freezer is working. He also took the temperature and said everything was fine. He told me to wait until our refrigerator breaks again and then call. So, I was like, "Oh my God." Something has to be wrong. Now, my refrigerator stopped working again. I wasn't able to have this fixed when it was supposed to and here, I'm running late to work because I have to take everything out from the refrigerator. I put a service call again for today and they're not coming until tomorrow.
The freezer was not working, but now, it's working again. Right now, the refrigerator is not working. It goes on and off. I can't live like that. I have two roommates here in my house and it's causing food loss. The techs have to know what causes that and they should be able to fix any issues right there. On the other hand, the first time I called AHS, they were very good with my microwave. They replaced my appliance. All in all, I would recommend people to use the service because it's very valuable when you have an appliance that doesn't work. They not only come and fix it, they repair it and they don't charge you anything else. It's just the service fee, which in my case is $100. It works for me, so I'm happy with the services. We bought our house in January and not only have the appliances not worked even though we had an inspection but there is also a leaking faucet or a crack in our sink upstairs, which has done some damage. We had somebody come out here two days ago. I have no clue when they're coming back, no clue if the company approved the claim, and no clue what to do with the fact that there is secondary damage to floors and walls and ceiling. That's our issue with American Home Shield. We don't get feedback from the company about the claim.
One contractor we had was Eagle Eye. They had the same man come out twice. He is super nice and great. There was also a guy who came out for our sink. The technicians all do the same thing and they say, “Okay, this is what it is. I have to go back and file this with the home warranty company and put in for a replacement or a change. It's probably going to be a little bit of time." We don't hear from anybody again until it's time for somebody else to show back up. I don't want to deal with the contractor. Otherwise, I would have hired the contractor myself. The warranty company should have notes in their file that the claim was submitted. They should tell us what the status of the claim is and that someone would be back out.
Once that has been reassigned to the repair company or appliance company can then call and tell us, “We plan on being out there Tuesday or Thursday.” But it seems like we deal more with the contractors than we do with the home warranty. We don't even know if something is covered or if it's going to be an issue until somebody calls us back and says, “Okay, I'll be back to replace it. I’m coming tomorrow.”
Overall, we're not very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. We had a claim for the vent on our gas range that would not turn off and the technicians replaced the knob. The only thing is it's inconvenient to have to file a claim then have to worry about chasing it down. We wanted to have somebody come out here at the same time to fix two issues that we had and American Home Shield advised us that we were gonna have to pay $75 each time even though it's the same person from the same company. That part can be frustrating.
We also filed a claim for our pool. It happened to coincide with the timing of the freeze here. A service guy came out and he started looking at it. He said we had all these issues with the pool. I was aware that we would probably need to replace the heater but I was not aware of the other stuff. I thought that would be covered by the home warranty. The service guy said he would submit it to American Home Shield but doubted if they were gonna pay anything. In that regard, why would I pay anything extra to have a pool covered if nothing is ever going to be covered?
The most recent claim we had was for our microwave that doesn't heat. We've been without a microwave for a week. We scheduled it last Friday. That aside, everything else has been fairly quick to get at least a call back from a contractor saying they will try to come out here at a certain point in time or a certain day. That’s a benefit of having the home warranty.
In this day and age, it's nice to be able to go online to book your claims because nobody has time to sit on the phone waiting to initiate a claim. American Home Shield is fairly quick to get something set up. Having somebody initially come out here hasn't taken too long. Hopefully, in the case of an AC, that will be even quicker if that’s to happen to us in Texas. An area of improvement is for them to follow-up customer service when somebody puts in a claim.

We just had an issue with our hot water heater and it has been an absolute nightmare. The biggest issue was trying to get the individual who you get when you answer the phone. At first, I thought it was a language barrier but then it became more of does American Home Shield not actually follow up on their providers? Because when I looked at this particular provider’s website, I saw multiple people with the same issue we had.
The people who came for our hot water heater never looked at any of the internal components. The tech took a few pictures and he came out of where the water heater was. He then said, “You need a hot water heater.” I asked how he could possibly know that as he didn't do anything. He then said, "That's what you have insurance for". I told him “No. Actually, that's not what I have insurance for. It’s the replacement of a perfectly good appliance that may be having some minor issues.” He replied saying he was gonna go and order me a new heater. I then said that if we truly needed a new hot water heater, I’m all about it. But to say we need one and not having done anything to it to make that determination, is charging AHS for an unnecessary service. Just like the other reviews that were on their website, the guy did the same thing because I challenged him. He wrote in his report that our hot water heater was not up to code in city compliance. When the thing is not up to code, American Home Shield denies the claim. So, they would be trying to deny my claim based on some erroneous information.
A new plumber came yesterday and the first thing he said was, “This is not out of compliance by any means.” He checked all the components and said that the issue could be a faulty thermostat which was why it kept going in and out. He said that he was gonna call AHS to get an approval. He also said that we were gonna order just the part or component 'cause our hot water heater was perfectly fine and there was no reason to get a new one. In order to get a new 70-gallon water heater like ours, he said AHS would be looking at about $2,500. I told him to make sure AHS would know all of those things so that they would think that I'm not the one crazy. I was just trying to save them money.
Still, the customer service reps I talked to said they were sorry for the inconvenience. An inconvenience is when my dishwasher isn't working. Not having hot water for two weeks, goes a little past the "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Thank God we have neighbors where we have been able to go to use their showers because this was a total disaster. If this had been my only experience with American Home Shield, I would’ve terminated this warranty in a hot minute.
But the tech who came for our washing machine was very professional. He diagnosed the part and said "I've seen this. It's a common thing with this particular washer.” He ordered it and came back a week later and replaced it. Everything has been working fine since then.

I ended up paying almost $1000 for Freon and I had no idea exactly how much they were putting in and exactly how much I was paying for. That company to this day refuses to tell me exactly how much they put in my air conditioning unit. So I tried to cancel, canceling with this company is almost impossible. You reach someone overseas and all they do is bounce you around to different departments telling you they’re sending you to retention. There is no retention department. They just keep delaying and bouncing you around and wasting your time. Just freeze your credit card or bar them from charging your credit card and cancel!
Any company that makes it this hard to cancel services with them is shady. No company should make it impossible to cancel. They have no email address which provides documentation of canceling. They make you call the phone number. You called the phone number and all you do is get bounced around so you can never cancel.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

It's been a couple of times Suncoast has come out. The most recent one was with the ice maker and they came out to fix it. But that was not resolved. So they're scheduled to come back out. But they haven't come back out yet. One time, there was a dishwasher that they installed and it wasn't properly braced. Then the unit fell out of the place where it was installed. It's a weird one 'cause it's raised up about five inches off the ground. So when it fell, it had some momentum to it. They came out and resolved it very quickly. They've been great in that regard, like coming out and resolving things when told. I guess they didn't have long enough to stay to see if the icemaker would actually make ice on the most recent visit. Regarding AHS, their systems are down or they're hard to reach sometimes. But other than that, my experience with AHS has been mostly positive. I'm fairly happy with them.

I have two recent claims with American Home Shield. One was good and one was not good. My most recent one was when I needed to have the thermostat replaced. It wasn't doing anything anymore but turning on the fan and wouldn't show indoor temperature. The tech replaced it and got it working. We checked to make sure the AC was working because I hadn't even turned it on yet. So, that was a good experience. My one prior to that was the water heater burst. Also, with that, I did a second thing for plumbing that was to have a guest bathroom fixtures replaced because they were so difficult to turn that you could barely get them to move.
We've had a lot of things over the years that have been done well. The water heater deal, I just had a local plumber come out and do it because it had gotten so ridiculously pricey and more expensive than my local plumber charged me, and I was like, "I already paid my $75 fee." So, I was a little upset with that whole deal because the tech insisted he needed a permit and it's an outdoor closet. It's not even indoor and it has a drain right to the exterior sewer line. It was a little frustrating. Then, they never replaced the bathroom faucet. So, I paid my $75, ended up using my own plumber, and never got anything done through them.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

5/18/2021. I am concerned that a major US company American Home Shield is committing fraud against Americans on a recurrent monthly basis. Thank you for taking the time to read my brief factum and complaint below. Factum: 3/2020: I initiated a home warranty contract with American Home Shield (AHS). 1/2021: I called AHS to cancel my home warranty contract effective at the time of renewal in March 2021.
5/17/2021: On or about 5/17/2021, I noted continued monthly charges on my Chase credit card from AHS. I immediately contacted AHS over the phone at their number 1-888-223-3763 to cancel the contract and receive a refund for amounts charged since March 2021. The agent said that he was sorry about the confusion and said that he would transfer me to "customer retention" to process the refund. The customer retention agent then said that she could refund only part of the amount charged which was about $60. She also charged me an administrative fee. She stated that I would have been notified monthly by email and text about the charges and had ample time to cancel them over the last 3 months. Of note, the call center is located in the Philippines.
While I was on the phone with her, I was signed in to my AHS account online at ahs.com and noticed that my contact information was incorrect. What made it highly suspicious was the manner in which these changes were made. My email was changed from "**@gmail.com" to "**@gmail.com" and my phone number was changed from ** to **. These were minor changes but were clearly made intentionally by an employee or agent of AHS.
An employee or agent at American Home Shield (AHS) intentionally changed my email and phone number on my AHS account so that I would not receive automatic email, text or phone notifications and other communication from the company. This was done in an attempt to defraud me by allowing the company to continue billing me for several months after I canceled the contract with AHS. In addition, the monthly rate of $54 was increased to $77 unbeknownst to me since I was not receiving any notifications from AHS.
I notified the agent about this fraud and told her that I will be filing a report with the authorities about their company and fraudulent business practices. In addition, I asked to speak to a manager and to file a complaint, but was told that there was no manager available but one would call me back. I called back on 5/18/2021 and was told the same thing. The agent, James with ID "MPONIO" said that they have no official email that I could use to file an official complaint and that a supervisor would call me back in 24-48 hours.
I do not know whether this fraud is being perpetrated by a few rogue agents who are acting out of greed for commissions or whether higher management is involved with this. However, it is clear that agents of this company AHS are defrauding several thousands of Americans on a recurrent basis. I have attached a screenshot of the fraudulent account changes. It is my hope that the FTC investigates this company thoroughly and prosecutes their directors and managers to the fullest extent of the law.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

Getting ahold of American Home Shield and trying to talk to them if I have an issue is extremely difficult and frustrating. I needed to talk to them when I was getting replacements and I had to wait and wait. Their customer service isn't good. Also, my experience with Cooper Appliances who came out for the refrigerator was not very good. Our refrigerator appeared to be leaking and was making a weird, really loud noise. The tech came and pulled the refrigerator out. He looked at the back of the refrigerator and he said the fan needed to be replaced. He said they would have to order the part and they would get back to me.
I asked him to leave the refrigerator pulled out because I wanted to clean behind it. When I went behind it, there was a hole in the back of the refrigerator where it looked like the ice machine had rotted through. Also, there was ice on the back of the refrigerator. That's what was leaking. And we were getting this weird mark in front of the refrigerator. I called Cooper and asked them to send the tech right back. But he had already gone off on to another call so I took a picture of it and sent it to them. It turned out we needed a new refrigerator. We got a replacement refrigerator but they were not real professional and they didn't seem to know what they were doing.
We had another appliance company, GE, and they were really good. They came out for a washer problem. We also had Hers & His Plumbing for a clogged drain and a leaky faucet and they also did a great job. Then, when the drain pipe at the sink needed to be replaced, the gentleman from Dimitresse Construction that came was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable.

Usually, when I submit a claim with AHS, I call them and wait on hold, they just bill the credit card that I have on file. It's no big deal. It’s very easy. It was the very first time I ever did it online, so I thought I clicked, “Bill the credit card on file, $75.” Good to go. The problem is I still owe, so I tried to pay it online but it was kicking back, saying, “No.” But that was my only issue with it.
We've really enjoyed AHS. We've had it for the last three years on our home and it's worth the $45 a month. We really benefited from AHS. We used it on multiple occasions and used it for a lot of different things. Anything that went out, we were able to call, get a service technician out and get it fixed very quickly. We've had some problems with one of the service techs though. He was just really busy. He couldn't figure out what the problem was. He had to come back. The microwave was broken before Thanksgiving and all the way till the middle of January. But we had our washing machine and air conditioning unit fixed. AHS was definitely worth it because of how much we could just always depend on it to call and have somebody fix it. AHS was always perfect for us.

Recently, our garbage disposal totally jammed and originally, American Home Shield was going to give us somebody that was coming out of Portland. When I checked the Better Business Bureau, they had the worst ratings in the world. So I called them back after they had just sent me an email letting me know who it was they were going to send. I rejected that I wanted to use that vendor because there were nothing but negative comments. AHS found a different vendor for me and the repair guy came out quickly and promptly, and it went very smoothly. He tested out the old unit and could tell that it wasn't functional at all. He happened to have a new replacement unit in his van and replaced it.
We've been with American Home Shield for five years or so and we had a claim a couple of years ago as well. Our house is now 17 years old and the potential of having some issues is there. On the other hand, I had another home and when I bought it, it came with that policy. Their premiums kept creeping up, which I thought was awful. When you go on the website to look for comparison, the prices for new customers is quite a bit less than for existing customers for the same home.

American Home Shield is not inexpensive to maintain but if you need it in a big way if a major appliance goes out, it does kind of pay for itself. However, it was 75 bucks to have a contractor do an air conditioning tune-up for the summer. Some guy came out and he was here not even 10 minutes. He came down off the roof and said, “Everything's fine. We don’t need to do anything at all.” When I came in later, I noticed that the thermostat in the house where you control the air conditioning has an outside temperature reading that was 76 degrees. I thought that was weird. It was warmer. It stayed at 76 degrees for 5 days. When I called and asked if the guy could come back out and double check, they said I had to go through American Home Shield. I went through that process and waited but never heard back from anybody. I called back about 3 or 4 days later. Once again, a guy said they'd call me soon about it but nobody ever called me.
In the interim, the unit seems to have fixed itself somehow that’s why I kind of dropped the whole thing. But as far as customer experience, it was not positive. There was no response whatsoever. I had to make at least 3 phone calls on this particular thing. There were two follow up phone calls because nobody ever got back to me. They never followed through on it at all. I've submitted many claims with American Home Shield over the years. They've generally been pretty responsive. There was another time where a contractor had to come back out and look at something. But this is the first time I've had to try to get a contractor to come back and fix something that they broke.

It's the panel that’s bad and we can't order that panel anymore.” That’s why I ended up having to get a new fridge. I'm still waiting on the check from American Home Shield for the claim. Originally I reviewed American home shield quite highly. However, I was contacted before the claim was finished to submit a review to the Consumer Affairs department. Explained to the gentleman who was taking my review that the claim had not been completed also. Here's an update... American Home Shield has still not replaced my Oven/microwave unit with the exact item, and they were offering us cash out for far less than what I could purchase it for in stores, because they said that the manufacturer doesn't have it... The unit we have stainless steel, it was installed when our home was built in 2005. Our the cabinets were custom made to fit the unit. When American home shield said they would replace it with the exact item, they told us that they could not find the same model number. They were offering us $1,250.48 cash so we could find it else where.
Well, problem is, that unit doesn't sell for less than $3,999.00. So we would come out of pocket A LOT to replace the unit. Their reasoning is, they deal directly with the manufacturers and they will only give us what the manufacturer pricing, but they were also not going to give us the stainless steel model, they were replacing our stainless steel model (which matches all the home appliances) with the black model, which in my opinion voids the agreement... Now I'm trying to contact the manufacturer to find out what they have and IF they even HAVE my model anymore. I'm not a happy camper.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

I had a claim to American Home Shield for a microwave turntable. It wasn't turning, which turned out to be just a simple part that needed to be replaced. I had another one for a waterline inside of a freezer. The water was no longer going to the ice maker, but what had happened was the water had frozen somewhere along inside the hose. The tech who came was knowledgeable. He looked at it, saw that a part needed to be done, and he came back a couple of days later with a part and it was good.
My story is a little different when I had the air conditioner pre-season treatment done. The service guy came out and tested everything. It was okay. At that point, we hadn't needed to use the air conditioner yet because it was pre-season. But he left something unplugged. The AC was blowing and everything was working, but it was not getting cold. So, weeks later, when we started using the air conditioner, we called them back and said, "Look, can you come back out here and fix this?" But too much time had passed. I should have called right away but I wasn't using the air conditioner right away because it was pre-season. Now that it was season, it wasn't working. So, I had to pay another fee to have a different company come out, look around, find out that something was unplugged and plug it back in. Still, overall, I'm very happy with AHS.

When my air wasn't functioning properly, the rep was professional, polite, informative. He was on time and let met me know ahead of time if he was 5 or 10 minutes out. He also took his time to explain things in a way that I could understand what happened and not with all that technological talk. It was a switch that went bad on it. On this last go-round, I didn't have an issue. It was overall great. Previously though, the tech worded in my chart that my faucet was broken with some force. He came in and he was in a rush. He made up in his mind that I got on top of the sink and broke the faucet and I just pulled it out the wall. That wasn't the case.
What I learned in that experience is American Home Shield can't always go solely on what the technician that they sent out is saying. Sometimes they need to listen to the customer. I went round and round with AHS a month, then finally, I got through to a rep on the phone that did some active listening and not just hearing me. When I explained to her that this faucet needed to be replaced, she helped me. AHS sent out another technician and he looked at it and was able to see right off that the faucet simply needed to be replaced. It wasn't anything that I did wrong.
