I was in the basement with an electrician at the time that the first-floor tenants were taking a tub. All of a sudden, water was pouring into the basement. It turned out to be an overflow. When I told the tenant I put in a claim and the contractor was gonna come fix that, she said there were a ton of other things that didn't work. This is this is a new two-family for me that I had recently purchased and she said that the faucet in the kitchen sprays water out everywhere when you turn on the sprayer. Also, there was something wrong with the toilet. I placed two claims and the plumber took it from there. He called American Home Shield and told them what was wrong. The plumber found so many things wrong that I reached the limit for my plumbing. But when I signed up, I didn't even know I had a limit. That wasn’t great.

The claims process with AHS is good but when you call in, it takes too long to get someone on the line. You're on hold for too long. I can do it online but I'm on the road a lot. I'm not home at a computer so it's harder for me to do it online. I wish we could use our own people such as our own plumbers. Mark, the rep, was great but he gets so many calls from American Home Shield that he's backed up. So, if it's not an emergency, you wait a couple of weeks. When I call my plumber, he comes right away. So, I wish there was a way to use your own guys and have American Home Shield pay them.

American Home Shield has been very easy to deal with. The first time was when we had was an electrical issue, so they came out and fixed it with no problem. The second one was for an air conditioner and then the third one was the plumbing issue. We had a leak in our house, and they came in and fixed it. We then called and let American Home Shield know that there was a hole left in the wall from where they had done the repairs on the plumbing. They set us up to get it fixed, and they gave us a number to call. We were supposed to get some drywall work done, but we can't get ahold of the people who are supposed to be doing it. We've left messages, and they haven't called us back. I called again this week and I still haven't heard anything.

I moved here in November, and the woman that sold me the house included American Home Shield with it. I called for my AC but I couldn't get through, so I did the claim online, which was easy. Ohohna came out and it went very well. The technician gave me a lot of information on what he was doing and I stood there and I watched him for a while. He cleaned out the entire AC unit ‘cause it was filled with mud, then filled it up with Freon and explained a lot to me. It's an older unit but it's working better.

North Coast Group was great. They were so professional and they were there when they said they would be. The tech had the problem resolved very quickly. The garage door would open without you even knowing it was open. You'd hear it in the middle of the night or you would close the door and the garage door opener would come up sometimes. It would go up and down and up and down. It was scary. Finally, what we had to do is get up there and pull the plug on the garage door opener. All it was was the actual switch. So, it was a quick fix and it was well worth having American Home Shield.

Astro Appliance came out to repair the washer and it's working okay now. It was an easy experience with American Home Shield. As soon as I put in the repair, Astro Appliance came out two days later. It was fast. I understand during this time that we're in that there was a little delay and we just have to be patient. But when they came back, they repaired it. All of this was within a week's worth. They’re very professional.

When my washing machine went into a spin cycle, the drum itself was pretty wobbly and it sounded like there was a bunch of really angry little elves in there banging on the inside of the thing. I called American Home Shield about that. They said that the contractor, Treasure Valley, would call me when he was available to set up the time to come out. We've had this same guy to our house a couple of other times for other issues. He is very professional and friendly. He shows up when he says he is gonna show up. He never tells us anything that isn't true or gives us any expectations that is unrealistic. For this washing machine claim, the appliance couldn't be repaired so it has to be replaced. I was contacted in a pretty timely manner about the appliance replacement. American Home Shield gave me my options quickly. It's been fine.

Filing a claim to American Home Shield was very simple. I did a claim over the phone, and their rep was very good. The claim was for the AC unit, and At Your Service came out. The issue was something I could troubleshoot. When the guy came by, he said, "Yeah, that's pretty much what it was. Problem is that it's been so hot that it's no relief at night that these air conditioners are just running non-stop." He had gloves and a mask on and he made sure he was well over six feet away. He only had to come into the house and go in the basement. He also put on shoe protectors when he came in the house.

I had an appliance issue and American Home Shield sent MC2 Appliance Services out. They did repair it. It’s running okay now. It’s just like there is another button there that wasn’t working very well, but the tech said that that one wasn't covered with AHS. I didn't know there was a distinction when I was signing up, but it wasn't an issue. I spent three minutes trying to manage it, turn it around just a little bit and it clicks. I would love that to be replaced but he said it’s not covered. The main issue he was here for was covered.

When I identified the problem, I went online on Sunday late at night, and I submitted the claim to AHS and they got back to me with an automatic text explaining everything and that somebody would be in touch with me by Sunday morning. I woke up Sunday morning and MC2 sent the text saying the technician will be here on Tuesday. It was 72 hours, but it wasn't an emergency thing. It was fixed. So I like it.

We've only been here for almost two months. The first month, we had really bad AC problems. It would stay on for about a week then it would kick off and it would stay on a week then it would kick off again. It stayed on for two days then it kicked again and then we were without for four days. It was the whole weekend. It was bad because there are two adults and seven kids in my house ranging from the age of 12 to a year old.

American Home Shield assigned to us Outlaws Heating. Our AC has been steady since the last time they came out. When Jason, the head guy from Outlaw came out, he was said, "We're gonna get it running to where you don't have to constantly keep calling us to come back out here." He actually fixed it. He thought it was the thermostat at first but it wasn't. There was something outside on the actual unit itself that was messed up and he replaced all that for free. When it first started happening, it was outside was blowing the breakers. That was why the unit wouldn't stay long. Normally, you cut it off then you cut it back on. When it gets cold and you wanna turn it off. When it was shut off, the breaker would blow. As long as we kept it going nonstop, the breaker wouldn't blow. When we cut it down was when it blew. I'm anemic so I don't wanna be cold. Now, our AC is working a whole lot better than what it was before.

We still have another 11 months to go with American Home Shield. At the end of those 11 months, we are gonna renew it again only because I like it. They don't just say, "We're gonna send somebody out." They actually do it. At first, we thought we were gonna have to pay tons of money but it was only $82 for the home warranty company to send somebody out. That's awesome. I would recommend American Home Shield to everybody. My dad lives a few houses down. This is his first home and nobody ever told him anything about a home warranty until I started buying this house. He's looking to get a warranty on his home and come through American Home Shield.

We had a drain issue from the upstairs bathroom. The drainage pipe runs down through a central wall in the lower level of the house and there was a leak on the ceiling of the lower level that was causing the molding to come apart. The softening of the wood told me that it had been that way for a while. I bought the house a little over a year ago and didn't realize we had a problem until I called that claim in and the contractor came out and told me to put a silicone caulk around one of the fixtures on the tub. We thought we had it fixed but there's still a leak coming from that same place. We also had a major repair that had to be done because of another plumbing problem that we paid the deductible, and then the repairs were considerably more, so the warranty helped tremendously.

My recent experience with AHS was a long claim because the contractors had to come back three times. They couldn't get the dishwasher to work properly. I had them bring another dishwasher and place that in. Once they pulled the other dishwasher out, they found the problem. But they had already put a new dishwasher in. The technicians were very nice. They tried their best. The new one is fine. But unfortunately, he said, "The bad news is I took this out and now that I found, I could fix it. Tell American Home Shield you need a new one." I said, "Okay." That was our agreement going forward 'cause I had renters in a vacation home and I couldn't have them three weeks without a dishwasher.

AHS has been pretty good. I don't have a lot of projects. This one just didn't work out 'cause of timing. I needed to get it fixed right away. After the third try, it just was, "Do you have a dishwasher?" The contractor said, "Yes." I said, "Bring it and put it in because there are no dishwashers out there." There are long waits for appliances. So I just had to pay this time. But if something breaks again, I'm sure American Home will be out in time to fix stuff.

Thermal was amazing. They came on their day off to assess the issue or the part we needed right away. They were able to fix the issue that was going on. The tech wore his mask and he had shoe covers and gloves on. He only came into the inside of the house one time and then after that, he preferred using the outdoor access, so he was great. I’m loving having the insurance. It's definitely saved us a lot of money. I do wish that there was a way to be able to put a preference for companies.

Home Shield sent out Thermex the first two times that we had issues. But they were quoting us ridiculous prices and telling us we needed a whole new unit. They were quoting us $10,000 worth of work. So the first summer, we just went without the air conditioning. It was really rough. Then this year, when we had another issue, we called and they sent out Thermal instead. The guy told us that the previous people that had come out snipped a wire, which they had told us they were doing because supposedly, it was going to help this issue that we were having not continue to recur. The guy from Thermal told us that it should have never gotten snipped and that was why we were having more issues. So they fixed that.

They also fixed a couple other issues that came in. So aside from our services that we've paid, we had to pay about $300 for some coolant stuff that the AC unit needed. But outside of that, Home Shield has covered it, which has been amazing. So we refer all of our friends that just bought houses to American Home Shield. We’re we’re really happy with it.

My experience with my recent claim with AHS was great. The guy came out when they said they would be here, and knew what the problem was. He said, "I'll order the part and it will come to your house," which it did promptly. They had scheduled another time to come out. It was for the icemaker. They put the icemaker back in and we have ice. The contractor wore a mask the entire time.

We really took out the warranty because all of our appliances are older and we have a pool that we included. However, when I call to report something at AHS, it takes forever to get in touch with them. Also, when I do get in touch with somebody, I understand they're in the Philippines, but the people that I'm reporting to sometimes are hard to understand. Also, you're supposed to be able to get onto the website. But whenever I did that, a message would come up that something had gone wrong.

The dishwasher took forever to fix. Nobody got it right. American Home Shield's contractors would fix it, they'd leave and then it would start leaking again. It’s been complicated. But one of the contractors finally figured it out. It took about four different repairmen to figure out what was wrong with it, and it was the part that was dysfunctional. It was a recalled part and nobody caught it. The GE appliance man came out last Wednesday. He wasn’t American Home Shield’s guy, but he could've been the same one that was due to come out on Thursday. But I canceled them because the guy from GE fixed it on Wednesday. My complaint with American Home Shield is that it takes them forever to answer the phone. I would wait two and three hours sometimes. Otherwise, they're great. I'm really thrilled to have them. They're supposed to be sending me a check for the stove. So, if they come through for my stove, I’ll be elated.

We've been using American Home Shield for years and the claim for the refrigerator and the microwave goes back a month or two ago. Proficient Appliance came out and everything seemed fine. Somebody came out and they fixed the microwave. It took a long time to get the parts because it's an older microwave, so I can't complain about that.

After they were gone, the refrigerator door still doesn't work. When you close the door, it kinda bumps up and down because the hinges are broken so I called the appliance company. I talked to the woman who said that I needed to contact American Home Shield so they can notify them to go ahead and do a second follow-up visit. I did that and I got the notification that they were assigned. I called several times and left a voice message with Proficient Appliance. They were supposed to contact me within 24 to 48 hours and that was last week. So, the claim is still open. Maybe they're waiting on more parts but they aren't contacting me. Maybe they're swamped but they should call back within 24 to 48 hours. I'm still waiting for them to call unless they had just forgotten about it.

Trying to reach somebody on American Home Shield is a traumatic thing. I file maintenance requests online but to get a hold of somebody from American Home Shield is not an easy thing to do. I've had some good experiences with them but a couple of years ago, we had a water leak in our home and I called it in. AHS sent out a company. They came, replaced the water heater, and charged me for 600 and some dollars in extra charges. One of the extra charges was for a building permit to replace a water heater, which our city requires. There were other things that American Home Shield doesn't pay for. So, they billed me. It turned out that the company who did the work never took out the permit. Also, they charged me for things that they never installed. So, I ended up calling AHS.

The plumbing company was a second-rate company. Their people would come out or they wouldn't show. I never got it fixed after a couple months and I hired another company to come out and repair it. It cost me $600. I had to file a dispute with the credit card company to get my money back. I filed the complaint with the Plumbing Board for the state of Texas over the company that was fraudulently doing work. That was with somebody that American Home Shield was using and I never got a resolution from them on that. I had to dispute the charge with the plumbing company.

In plumbing companies, there may be one licensed plumber and then they have 10 independent contractors, which are not licensed plumbers. But they're using the license of the one person. So you can have less than qualified people coming out to do work. That's one of the rackets in the plumbing business. It was fraud. I caught them because I went online to the city of Round Rock, and it lists building permits, and I was able to see they never took it out. Overall, the majority of things are fine with American Home Shield but every once in a while, there's a less than qualified subcontractor they use to do the work. So, they need to be very conscious of the quality of the companies that they use to do work.

When the technician from Air Design AC & Heating came out, he said that everything seemed to be fine and that he just had to clean the outside unit around the outside of it. He fixed the issue and got my unit working, but he charged me to do that. I wasn't too happy about spending an extra $90 to have the vent cleaned. It should be something that was covered. It was hot so I was trying to get air back on. Also, I already gave $75 ‘cause I had them come out here. Still, American Home Shield got the job done.

When the other guy showed up the second time, he took care of the other problem, which was the thermostat problem, and it went well. The pilot on my water heater is an electronic brain type pilot on the outside and it wouldn't work. Since I'm not really good on the computer, I called in a service request for it on a Friday. IRH Plumbing called me and made an appointment for Tuesday. Two days after the call, they were out here on the first appointment. Their guy tried to take the water heater apart to see if he could fix it and clean it. He put it back in but it wouldn’t work so the company had to order a part. I was told that there was actually a recall on that pilot a couple of years ago but I never got a notice. But they got the part, their tech came back and they installed it. He did a really good job. Everything went really well and it's working fine now. If I ever have any more plumbing issues, I'd like to request that the same company come out because they're local. They were very good and I trust them.

The only thing is sometimes when I try calling American Home Shield, their recording or on-call stuff doesn't give me a lot of options. They give five options and none of which is to speak to a real person. I don't like talking to a machine. I would suggest looking at an option where the call can be transferred from that on-call line rather than me calling back and getting another number. I got the same everything like recording and response. It got really frustrating trying to follow up on what was going on. I tried two different numbers I had until I finally got through and got somebody on another line. But there's something about that call number that I was given. I don't know if I was given the wrong customer service number. But I had a hard time getting a hold of a real person.

This company is not set up to repair anything on the weekend and even during the week you are subject to whatever workload the contractors assigned to work with American Home Shield can handle, the sad part is this not the physical work. It's the paperwork. This company makes the process of fixing anything regardless of how essential it is to your home impossible. First send a contractor to the house to assess the problem, then document the problem, then send paperwork back to american home shield for approval, then send a second contractor out to your house to complete the repair.

Most plumbers work Saturdays but not a full 8 hours. Try following this process on a saturday, I can almost guarantee you whatever is broken will still be broken after they leave. There is no way to expedite anything, no way to set a job as a emergency, every repair gets the same lousy treatment. Any in addition if that item breaks again you better hope it breaks within the first 30 days, because if it doesn't you pay the same service fee again and follow the same process. This is my second time dealing with a appliance repair through them. The first time it took over 2 1/2 months for them to repair my dishwasher. Now it's the refrigerator. It's been two weeks and I was told by THEIR CONTRACTOR that they have to authorize the replacement part. First it is a contractor they sent out to determine the problem and secondly if a part is needed you think they would trust their contractor enough to allow them to do the work. NO! The contractor has to submit a request for a part and wait for the authorization from them to even order the part. So if they deny the request you're out your $100 service fee.

I can pay other companies half that amount and get it fixed the same day. So why am I still using them? Good question. I am not going forward. I had had way too many issues with them even when our air conditioner went out last summer. Don't get me started on that, let's just say you have to wait a few days for service even in 110F temperature. So please do yourself a favor and stay clear from this company.

The last representative that I spoke to was very rude and had me on hold forever to tell me to contact Nationwide Credit, Inc regarding my balance. When I explained to her why would I contact the collection agency when your company is the one who charged me.

So I then asked to speak with a supervisor. The representative indicated that she didn't have a supervisor that I could speak with and then hung up the phone. I just called American Home Shield for the 5th time just now. This Company is all about taking your money but have very bad customer service. I have been a customer of American Home Shield for well over a decade. I have poured more than $10,000 of my hard earned money into this company because I believed that they would stand by their word of "protecting their customer". This company is a sham, they rob their customers blind and do not give any support or compensation when something needs to be replaced. I filed two claims within the months of June and July. One for my washer and dryer and one for my AC unit. Please keep in mind that I live in Arizona and temperatures are extreme.

They sent out service agents to assess my washer and dryer and AC to which I had to pay a total of $150 out of my own pocket. I made countless phone calls to American Home Home shield explaining to them that the service agent for the AC told me flat out that I needed a new compressor but because my unit is over 23 years old, it would not be worth it to replace the compressor and that it would be in my best interest to get a new unit. This company also told me that they are "not allowed" to tell American Home Shield that information because they will never replace the unit and that they will only do the bare minimum.

I did my due diligence and had three other HVAC companies come out to assess my AC unit and they all said the same thing. The unit needed to be replaced. I had to have my AC unit replaced on 7/18/2020 and paid $9,779 out of my own pocket. American Home Shield has not contributed a dime. I have called American Home Shield countless times, most recently on Friday, 8/28 and was on the phone for hours requesting to speak to a supervisor. The agent told me a supervisor would contact me on Saturday, 8/29. It is now Monday, 8/31 and no one has called me back.

Each time I have tried to make contact with AHS, I am on the phone for hours waiting on hold, having to explain my issue, requesting to speak with a supervisor only to be denied, etc. Each time someone has said that a supervisor will call me back, no one does. One agent falsified my information and changed a digit in my phone number and my email so no one could get a hold of me. It was another agent who discovered this.

In one of my phone calls to American Home Shield, I requested to speak with a supervisor and after over 4 hours of being on the phone with the agent, it was not until I told her that I wanted to file a formal complaint that she finally put me in touch with a supervisor. I explained my frustrations to that supervisor and told her of the illegal and unethical practices of one of their agents to which she apologized and told me that I would be refunded the $150 service agent fee. I was also told that they would give me $125 for a fan. That refund and compensation never happened.

I was told by one agent that I would be getting a cash out of $3,000 to put toward my new AC unit and then by another agent that it would only be $1575.61 as long as I submitted my invoice. I have submitted that invoice multiple times and the supervisor that I was in touch with will not get back to me. I have called her and left multiple voicemails as well as sent multiple emails with no success. I request that something be done about this and that I receive compensation for the new AC unit, fan, and the service agent refund. I also request that a supervisor contacts me ASAP.

This whole situation has interfered with my work day, taken time away from my family, and has taken a toll on my emotional and mental health. Every time I try to make contact with American Home Shield I become so worked up because of their horrendous customer service, lies, and mistreatment. Trying to contact a company who I have paid for years to protect me only to be taken advantage of and treated so terribly is inexcusable. I implore you to revoke American Home Shield's Consumer Affairs accreditation. I will never understand how a company like this even exists to rob their customers with no consequence. Their actions should be taken to court and their licenses revoked.

Recently, our air conditioning had completely shut down and we had no air at all coming out of the system. C and C Heating and Air came out very quickly and they were able to take care of the problem. They handled it great too. On the other hand, American Home Shield should have more people on the telephone that can answer in an expedient manner. Getting through to anybody on the phone to ask a question is impossible. It's very frustrating for all parties.

If people can do their claim online, it's fine. If they can't though, then they have to go through the telephone and they can be on hold for 45 minutes. It is totally unacceptable. My sister is purchasing a new home right now and she's with American Home Shield in her home as well, but she's considering switching because of that hold time. One other reason is the fact that there are so many things that are not covered. Everything is not covered like you think it is.

A drain pipe was installed incorrectly, and when the Climate Masters guy came out, he realized what it was as soon as he saw it. Within 15 minutes, he was done, had it repaired, and he was out. The latest problem I had was on the air conditioner. The fan was running but it wasn't blowing cold air. He came out and looked at it. After talking to me on the phone, he said, "Well, it's probably a capacitor." And that was what it was. He was there for maybe half-hour. He changed it, fixed it and everything's been running fine ever since. So, I had a pretty good experience. I had to wait over the weekend for them to get back in touch with me and then come out, but that's how things are sometimes. It’d been more comfort issues than an emergent issue, so I’m not complaining about that.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield was pretty simple. When it wasn't too long after we moved in, we were doing some remodeling and found a plumbing issue. I called them and got ahold of them and said, "Hey, this is what I need." They sent somebody out within a day or two, and that issue was resolved. They were pretty quick to handle it and get somebody on the case. Every time I call, they issue a work order and they send it right to the contractors doing the work. Then I just call the contractor and confirm and make sure they got it. Everything's been pretty easy, pretty simple to deal with, and they've been very helpful. They've handled my claims as best they could. They sent it out to the contractor. Then when they had somebody available and in the area, they got him out here to fix the issue.

We first got American Home Shield last year when we bought the house and we renewed it for this year. They've been great and I don't have any problem with them. But I played telephone tag for a while with their AC guy. He was supposed to come last week but he got tied up. It's all good though. I have A-1 Electric coming in the next 30 minutes. The guy said that it was too much work to do all of this stuff to work, that apparently the previous owner is involved.

He suggested that I move the thermostat out of my grandson's room and put it in the hallway, which makes sense to me. For my house in Miami Beach, I don't have any thermostats in the bedroom. But the way the previous owner did it here in this house, she has a separate unit in her bedroom. There's a thermostat in my master bedroom but the rest is linked to this other AC and the control is in my grandson's room. Its wires would go through my son's room and so he's always hot. That's a problem.

Another problem with the AC was timing because I moved to Miami Beach and my daughter has been living at my house here. Every time I wanna set up an appointment for her to be here so that they could resolve the problem, she never wants to be here. It's unbelievable. She wants to use my house but she doesn't wanna do anything to help me so I can schedule service. Tomorrow, Supreme Appliances is supposed to come. All they have to do is take out the one refrigerator so that they could service it at their shop. My daughter could not give them a day for them to just come and take it out.

Getting service to my home has been very easy with American Home Shield's online system. Their contractors are professional and they have sent persons out a second time for a continuing problem without charging us another service fee. Most recently, I had a claim for my AC and their contractor from Greenway Home Services came out to handle that. The tech then came back to the house and told me what AHS was gonna cover and we would be out of pocket $1,600 for something that we had already spent $600 on. Greenway was going to put a new system in with a warranty and deduct the amount that AHS will pay. We went that route and AHS did not pay anything to the contractor.

We have paid a lot of money over the years and the coverage we have gotten from Home Shield hasn't been that great. What we've paid for our service call isn't applied for any of the costs in many of the cases we've had for plumbing issues. We have been long-term customers and the money we've paid to AHS over the years could have paid for the cost of the replacement of our HVAC system. We are gonna end up canceling our warranty.

I had a leak under my bathroom sink. U.S. Plumbing and Rooter came out, and they had masks and booties on. It was easy doing the claim to American Home Shield. I did it over the phone. I had other plumbers here before and the one guy cut a hole in my ceiling, and they never did fix it. That wasn't even where the leak was. The leak was in the bathtub in the bathroom.

This is about my fourth time calling American Home Shield and with a plumbing issue. And there's always a different plumber that comes. It should be the same person. Sometimes if they've been to your house before, they know their way around, and they get right to the point. Not this time. The two guys that came this time were cool. There were no problems. But one time before, I had two different plumbers come. One guy was here for a whole hour and a half. That was the guy that cut the ceiling. He never did find the leak. The next guy that came found it in less than five minutes. It was right by the tub. If you see that one contractor has been out and he got a good review, that should be the same person that comes out again if necessary.

Home Shield is so backed up that it’s hard to get in touch with them sometimes. But once you get ahold of them, the people are very thoughtful and helpful. A toilet needed some work. They said they would call the contractor and that I would get a call fairly soon after AHS called them. Sirius Plumbing & Air Conditioning did some other work for me, so I requested them. We've had Home Shield for years and they have helped us on a number of different things. Overall, they're a very good company.

I had my garage door, where it would just run and stop. It would not bring the garage door up. So that was the original issue that Ace of Spades Garage person came in and he first made some fixes. It seemed to be working and so they left for the day. The very next day, when I stepped in, my garage door was open. So the motor ran by itself and it brought the garage door up without me even turning on or using the remote. So that issue followed and then I gave a call again. That guy came and he said some socket was broken and he would put a new garage door opener.

Then he said that since I’m a customer of AHS, they would install the new garage door opener. For that, if it is to be a non-AHS customer they will charge 250. Since I’m an AHS customer they will charge me 150. Then I said, “Okay, in that case why should I go through AHS?” They said, “Whether you go through AHS or you go through us, it’s the same.” I said, “Fine. Then go ahead and do what you need to do.” Because it was like I’ve been following up with them and working on this request for almost two weeks now. I said, “Fine, you go ahead and fix it. And let me know.” I gave him a check of 150.

Two days later, I used the button on the walls and this new garage door opener was not working. I followed up with them. They kept saying, “Yes, we’ll come, we’ll come,” but they were not showing up. I went to the AHS app and said, “Still not fixed. I need the technician to come and take a look at it.” Since it went through AHS, that was when they were obligated to return my calls. The guy showed up late on Saturday 7:30 pm. He said, “Yes, there is no wiring from the wall.” So he put us on wire, and he ran it over the wall to the new garage door opener. It's working now. With American Home Shield, right now, I’m not a satisfied customer. Because I kept calling and yesterday, for another service request, I was on hold for almost two hours. Still, I did not end up getting connected with a person.

With American Home Shield, when I first started having problem with the air conditioner, I used to get put on hold and I would wait and wait. Their computer would say that they'd be with me as soon as possible and that they'd be with me in an hour. But an hour would go by and it would say the same thing again. I would be on the phone for an hour and a half, then I'd hang up and call back. But when I get to talk with their reps, they're always nice and very professional.

I bought a new AC in March because I have respiratory issues. AHS sent out the tech to install it and the gentleman said that it was all right. But then, it started breaking down in July. They were supposed to come out free of charge to help alleviate the situation and when I called the girls at the office, they made sure that their management came out. And he did a really good job. He went outside and inspected the air conditioner. And he fixed it so that the air conditioner is running and the house is cool. He said that whoever installed it didn't follow the requisition but he said that that tech was no longer with them. He was very nice and they are rectifying what should have been done back in March this Thursday.

When our hot water tank was leaking, they were very fast to get somebody out there, diagnose the problem, and get it fixed that same day. I was happy about it. It's a lot faster through the day time to contact somebody. If not, they have a nice option into where they can call you back. They send somebody and it's very fast. If they can't do the job that day, somebody would be out the next day unless it was over the weekend when a lot of places are closed.

Within 45 minutes, he did everything.

The claims process was very easy and simple too. We just called and then somebody picked up the phone. We then paid our co-payment and then they scheduled the visit. I went online and filed a claim when the air conditioner was not working. Ambient Air is fantastic, because I had another home that I used them on. As a matter of fact, when I sell the HSA warranties there, I tell them about that contractor and how good they are. The roofing contractor on the other hand is horrible. I'm not satisfied with that one at all. Also, I'm not a fan of the plumbing one. But other than that, Home Shield is very easy to work with. The site is user-friendly, and for the price of the home warranty and for the services that are provided, it's a great value for the money. There are a lot of times when I personally pay for my clients to have that warranty so that they have a safe, peace of mind experience for the following year.

Numerous times, the problem is the ductwork and we can't get anybody to do that underneath the house. We had On Time Plumbing come out one time and they said they wanted to pay for that. I liked them. They're nice people as long as they know they're gonna get paid. However, my husband and I got pretty aggravated with American Home Shield because they were telling us that's not covered. We told them that we got it in our policy that the ductwork is covered. And so, when the guy came out again last month, he replaced the air filter. It took us about three weeks.

American Home Shield is really hard to get ahold of and I'm really disappointed. One agent tells somebody's coming out and then nobody comes out. They say they'd get back in 72 hours. We let seven days go by, then call them again and say that they're supposed to get back with us and they don't. When dealing with this on top of my son's passing away, it's very stressful.

The air conditioning claim went through right. The tech from Metropolitan came out. He checked it out. He did what he had to do. He had to cut it off and let it stay over one day before he could remove something because it had frozen up. He came the next day and repaired it with no problem. The AC has been doing fine since then.

With American Home Shield, I had more than one request per system because at the time I was having problems, I was a lot. Everything broke down at the same time. I had problems with things that they don't cover. That’s been my biggest problem. I was gonna call and check up what was going on with the coverage because I had a water softener and a bathtub they didn’t cover.

I asked American Home Shield to send me a plumber who would want to look at it and see how to do it. The man came out and said, “No, no, no, I don't do that. Y'all have to go back and tell American Home Shield that I don't do that. They’ll have to find somebody to come do that.” I don't wanna be paying $100 for him to tell me he won't even touch it or he won’t even talk to the man who built it to see how to do it. I had called the company and they would tell him how to do it, but he said he didn't wanna do it. I don’t want him charging me $100 and say, “I don’t touch it.” American Home Shield is gonna charge me $100 copay and my $100 to say, “I won’t touch it.” I was wondering how AHS handles that.

We have a dual AC system. We have an upstairs and a downstairs and the upstairs unit was giving us problems about four weeks ago. We called up AHS and I paid the $75. May Heating and Air came out and looked at it. The tech said he couldn't find anything wrong so he left. From that point on, the unit was going off and on again until it just completely stopped. There was nothing but hot air coming out. I called AHS again and explained the situation to the rep.

There didn't seem to be a sense of urgency from the contractor because we were under a warranty. Their rep told me I'm a warranty and I don't have the priority. They were not very responsive until I called and then they were more responsive in coming back out. Brian from May came out and he looked at it. He said I didn't have any Freon and that there were leaks in various parts of the air conditioning unit. He came out last Friday and he said he can't fix it then and that we gotta go through the warranty process. I still don't have any air.

It was the first time I have ever used Home Shield and I'm not very pleased with the service. It was a big mix-up. I had to stay on the phone for an hour before I got to talk to somebody the first time. And then while we were talking, they put me on hold. Somehow we got disconnected. I had to call back. They set me up with somebody. It was on a Monday morning. The AC went out Sunday night some time. The contractor sent me an email saying it would be the following Monday before they would come out.

My son has asthma so it can't get too hot, and he has to have his breathing instrument every day. I had to call back in for that and I had to be on the phone forever for that. And then they said they would find somebody else. They found somebody. Keep in mind that the first people that they got me set up with was an hour away from where I live. That's probably why they said seven days because they probably don't come to this area. When they place an order, they need to know where I'm located and who the service provider is. And they don't need to be an hour away to come to your house. They need to be a local.

And then, Home Shield set me up with somebody else. The lady was nice. She was probably 15 or 20 minutes away from me. She said she would call me back the next morning and tell me when I would be put on the schedule. However, I never heard from her. And then, I called them back and they said the work order got canceled. I asked, "Well, how did it get canceled when I still have no air and nobody's been out to my house to fix it?" They said, "American Home Shield canceled it."

Rapp's came out fairly quick. The tech fixed it. Then I told him could he go up in the attic and check it out. My son was there. I told him, “He can show you where everything is. Can you go up there and check it out? Can you call me back and tell me what it is?" But he never called back. He just gave my son a part. And my son said he was only there 10 minutes at the most. He got it working again. Othar than that, Home Shield said they will reimburse me my service fee. They took it out that Tuesday. It's going on the third week and I still haven't got my money back. And then I had to waste my time being on hold again. It has been to the accounting department, and then it has already cleared that. And then it will be two or three days and I should have my money. I've been told that two times now. I don't understand.

This time around, I had a problem with my washing machine, and there were no parts available for it, so I got a brand new one. It's a much better one than I had before. So, that was great.

Now, if it's something that can be repaired, they'll repair it. The only problem is they order the parts, and I know that a lot of it has to do with COVID and it's hard to get some things, but it seems like it takes a really long time to get parts in. Also, I would suggest that if a customer calls, they should not have them on hold for two hours waiting to talk to someone.

He answered all my questions, and he did it in a timely manner. It didn't take him long to figure out what the issue was. He had the part with him, replaced it, and then it was up and running. We had to wait for a particular part to come in, but the guy from Choice Heating is working on it and it's gonna be fine. They're the greatest because when the guy says he's gonna be there, he's there. American Home Shield had used him on other things of mine that's gone wrong and he responds immediately. He's there within a few hours. He's great to work with. In the beginning, we had some trouble. They had a system that they could've installed but American Home Shield wanted a second opinion so they went with XTREME. XTREME doesn't supply their own equipment. American Home Shield does. It was apples and oranges but they wanted to use XTREME and I didn't wanna use them. So we ended up having to go on a cash type deal so I could go back to Choice Heating.

I've had tremendous success with American Home Shield. They're a great company. They're really trying to do the best. It's only on this particular situation we had a problem and it's because I didn't understand how American Home Shield works. I have a Shield complete plan. It says that these items should be covered. But none of those people could answer my question so I had to be referred to somebody else. I sat on hold for four or five hours on a Monday waiting for this other people to get on board. All I had was my simple question to be answered. And if it got answered, we would've been able to move forward and got everything done. Almost six weeks afterwards, Marcus called me. He answered my two questions and I was probably satisfied.

For the most part, the reps at American Home Shield have been very good. But what I've learned is you call and you basically gotta just let them do what they're gonna do. They're not gonna tell you what part's going in. You just have to do it their way. If you bust the system a little bit which I did 'cause I wanted to find out what kind of equipment it was, you can't find out answers. You get referred to people in Bozo, Utah or the Philippines. I even had a girl that was in the Caribbean that told me she was sitting on her deck dealing with these deals in her bathing suit.

I've never had any issues submitting a claim except the time of sitting on hold waiting for it to get to a person to take the order. Once you call in, you sit there for half hour, 40 minutes to get somebody. But when you get somebody, they answer pretty quick. Once they get the $75, then you order. They send out most of the contractor, the contractor contacts me within a few minutes, and it's been really good. For the most part, AHS is probably the best system out there and available and I'm going to renew my program. But I was a little discouraged on the way the air conditioner thing went because I think we could've got it resolved a lot quicker for the tenant and we didn't. Also, we're a little delayed right now because of so many people in the heat of the summer. There's a part that's not in yet. But I have the invoice ready to be sent out soon as it's complete.

For an issue with our AC, Burleson Services in Ocala was sent out after I made a request for it online with American Home Shield. That process was easy. I had spoken with reps on the phone and that was not as easy because usually, you get put on hold for an hour or so. Overall, we have had some issues but in general, American Home Shield remedies the issues even if it often takes two different contractors to come out. In the case of our AC, it's good now.

I bought the house five years ago and American Home Shield is the only one I've had. If I call them, they’ll come. It’s not instantaneously but nothing is when you're talking repairs. It took the contractor for an electrical issue about a week after I submitted the claim to come out. I'm glad it was not an emergency but it was a little dark to do laundry. The two ballasts were daisy-chained together. So, even though the second one wasn't completely dead, it wouldn't come on because the first one was pulling all of its electric. The house is 1983 and that was the first thing that was done. They ran a good life.

I also made a claim before for the heater. It kept shutting itself off. It’s 40 years old and it's original to the house. The guy who came in was very sweet. He told us where to buy the filter. Otherwise, he said he would have to charge me. It was something like $50 and the filter itself was 20 on Amazon. He told us what to get and how to replace it. He said it should stop it and fix it, and it did. I did not even know there was a filter there and I felt bad. The dude never told me.

American Home Shield sent Sancho Services to check my hot water heater. It wasn't getting hot. The person I talked to at American Home Shield was okay. The guys from Sancho were very professional as well. They needed to just light the pilot. And by it being in the attic, we have had several people to look at it to light the pilot, and they were telling us that the thing was broken. The hot water heater was broken. So that was when I made the claim. The guy from Sancho went up there and lit the pilot. I was really pleased. He was here maybe 20 minutes. We really haven't had any problems since then.

American Home Shield has been superb. A couple other people had told me about it. They said, “Well, if something happens, that you can easily have you pay for this warranty,” and that's what made me decide to get it. We've had a few things that happened unexpectedly, and they have really stepped up to the plate and did everything that they've done so far. The only thing I don't like is they take a long time in getting the part.

The technician that came by for our recent claim with AHS did a thorough look of the unit as possible. He did note that the same problem that we had last time was a clogging of the pipe, 'cause he went to vacuum that as he was getting that part. But he also mentioned that the drain pipe that I have for my AC unit is smaller than the actual unit itself. He was well-respectable, had his mask on the entire time, quite polite and I had a good time chatting with him as he was doing his repair.

So far, the service of AHS has been pretty well. I paid the premium of $150 to get stuff done, and it's helped. The only time I had a bad problem was the one time where I had to wait on the on a leak that remanifested itself and it didn't happen until this year. It was the third time I called to use the service. The one time it did leak, and it didn't leak again when they told me to recall them so that I wouldn't have to pay the $150 bill. It was like, "Oh, boy, it didn't happen again." But it was not their fault. It was just a "things happen" kind of deal. But overall, the service of American Home Shield has been great for me, so I don't mind paying the premium for that.

I've had the worst customer service ever. The fact that American Home Shield is housing their customer service in Asia is beyond ridiculous. They don't understand what I'm saying to them. I can't get anyone who speaks English. They need to understand what they're reading. It's very frustrating. Then I was sitting there, waiting for two hours and they'd say to hold on a minute and that they'd talk to someone. I’m like, “Please don't put me on hold!” Then they never come back and hang up the phone. It happens constantly.

I am in real estate and property management and I’ve sold a lot of American Home Shield. I don’t even know if I’m gonna be even selling more of this warranty after this because it's been terrible. We started this process in June and we could never get anywhere with it so we gassed it up eight times now. Then we got the contractor Ken and he’s been great. American Home Shield would have to order a line set, condenser. Then I was under the impression that once I agreed on the deductible, which I'm told is $360, I'd get an email. We never got anything. Overall, this isn't working for me.

I had a beef with AHS from a couple of years back. They got paid twice for one month. I was switching over my checking account to another checking account, but it just so happened they took it from two checking accounts. I've been trying for two years to get them to give me my money back. Every time I have to call in a claim, I always bring it up and they can always see the conversations back then. Then they say no. I even asked if they know who the CEO is but I always get a foreign country so they don't.

Recently I had a water problem. It leaked all the way down to the ceiling down in the garage, which is right under the bathroom there. The contractor came out and stopped the water. When the people that came into the store put the fans in and on, it tore everything out and it started leaking again. The contractor came that Sunday and I don't have that problem. Now I haven't had the contractor come in and put my bathroom back together again and the ceiling down in the garage, and that’s my next step. Also, the first one that came for my water pressure in the whole bathroom didn’t fix it. The second one said he had to check with AHS. I never heard back so I don’t know what the deal is with that yet. I probably have to call the plumbing people and find out. Other than that, AHS is very nice and professional. They do what they have to do. If they have to come back, something’s not right. I don't have a problem.

I cannot afford to fix the things that needed to be fixed without insurance and so I've had AHS for 13 years now. It's just that the phone system is not great. It’s very difficult to get ahold of somebody and they don't tend to know what you're talking about when you ask them questions.

Recently, our appliance was not working. TNT Ventures texted us when they're gonna be there 10 minutes before they're gonna be there, and the timeframe that they're gonna be there. They came and said they had to order a part and they’d be back. Then they said it would take up to three weeks to get the part. I guess it was backordered. I like them. They were nice. They wore their masks and stayed away from us. They were in and out. They made all their phone calls outside.

American Home Shield is very good. It's very easy to submit calls. If I ever have an issue, I can call up the 800 number that's on the website. I've always been able to speak to somebody to help me out with any issues. Recently, Richard's Appliance came out for my refrigerator. I submitted the ticket on a weekend, talked to them Monday or Tuesday and got it scheduled. They called me half hour before they were gonna arrive here so I could kinda put the dogs away. They wore PPE, face masks and little things to cover their feet so they wouldn't track anything. They came in, diagnosed the problem and said they had to replace a fan and the icemaker.

They didn't have it in stock but they ordered it and gave me a reasonable expectation of how long it would take. They said 10 days to two weeks and they came in in that time and replaced it. There were two guys that came in initially and a different guy came in to do the replacement. All three guys were very friendly. They let me know what was going on and I was very pleased with the service.

I thought it was coming from the toilet but it was actually coming from the toilet and the shower. The people that came out were very nice. Ultimately, they didn't prove to be very helpful because the problem was something that they weren't able or wouldn't address. They looked around but when they get there, there was nothing wrong. It was not leaking. They opened up the clean-out outside and discovered that there was water in the line. They said I had to get the county to open the line up to the sewer. We had to hire a plumber to dig up the lawn and replace the sewer pipe. But that's not covered on my American Home Shield policy.

I normally call American Home Shield on the phone instead of trying to do it online because I wanna be able to explain what's going on. I'll get a text or an email that says my contractor has been assigned, which normally takes a couple of hours. It's fast and it’ not a long process. The contractors have all been very good and I've not had an issue with any of them. I've learned to try to take a video of stuff acting up because if it doesn't act up in front of them, they can't diagnose to fix anything.

I called AHS for my electrical and the contractor came out. They were able to repair some electrical sockets that were not getting power in my kitchen but they couldn’t fix the ceiling fan. While it is on, it starts spinning faster than you turned it on to spin and the light sometimes just goes out. For them to fix it, it had to do it while they’re here. I didn't call AHS back because all they're gonna tell me is I’ve got 60 days and if the problem exists, then I can call back and have the contractor come back out and service it. I have to actually get a video of it doing it.

I have a slide-in range and I didn’t realize that the control panel on it had a glass top. I dropped something in the kitchen not knowing that it hit the stove but it shattered the glass. The part had to be replaced so they called it into a company to get the part. The guy told me upfront that it was gonna take about two weeks to get it. I was cool with that. Two weeks came and the part didn't come. So, I reached out and I asked to be updated on getting the part. So he sent me a screenshot of the order. The contractor was trying to stay on top of it and told me that it was gonna be in the following week. This was the first week of August and so at this point, I've been without a stove for three weeks.

I waited and it was supposed to come in the following week. It didn't show up and I called them back. He asked me not to get mad. Now, they're saying it may be in by 20th, which will be six weeks with me without a range to cook. The contractor said he was going to engage American Home Shield to try to see if they could find the part. It's a Whirlpool part and Whirlpool is right here in Michigan. They're in the same state. So, I was trying to figure out from AHS what my options were because at that point, I was ready for them to escalate my case. It got to the point where I had googled the owners and the actual company that is the parent company, which is called Front Door and I was gonna take it to them. It was bad. There's a woman named Doris and she wanted to tell me everything I already knew such that the part was ordered by the contractor and that the part didn't come. It has been five weeks.

AHS does nothing but get on my nerves. The escalation department, which took me a three-hour phone call to get on, told me he was gonna escalate it. He gave me a phone number to call on Monday, because this was on a Saturday, to get my options for purchasing a new range or getting a cash out. I called that number on Monday and it was a bogus number. He put in my file that the customer has to just wait until the part arrives. It was a very extreme amount of time and the week is going by. There was this one woman who was the only one who told me the truth. She said that they finally found the part and they've ordered it. That happened Saturday while I was on the phone three hours and they couldn't tell me the part was ordered then.

The rep said it would come maybe by the 29th of August. August just went down. I said that I didn’t want the maybe. I couldn't feed my family and I couldn't afford to keep buying food from restaurants. It was unacceptable. I understood that there was nothing she could do and she couldn’t even get me to a supervisor. It got to the point that I had to call back to the contractors because they're really and truly, the only person that could help or the one that has to say that they couldn't fix this range. Because if he would say that it was null and void, and they couldn’t fix it, then AHS would have to replace it.

I called Lucas appliances on Monday and I told the guy I needed him to do x, y and z. He said that my part came on Sunday. He had been ordering it since July 17th and he finally cancelled it because he figured American Home Shield would either get it or they would get my range over again. It's a $2,000 range. Whirlpool, Lowe's and Home Depot don't have it so I would have had to get a range from a different company, which was not my preference. I would have maybe been in a trip back to have to wait for them to ship one to me. Because of COVID-19, the whole supply chain is jacked up right now. You can't even find stuff.

The guy said he would check his truck because he brought the part thinking it was for the house that he was at and it was not the part. He thought it was mine. They went on and still sent it to him. So that part took six weeks to get somewhere. It happened to be the part and he called me about 30 minutes later, which he said it would be. He said he was gonna come to me right then and he did. He fixed my stove. I thank him for still calling me back because I was still so livid that they gave me the runaround, they lied to me blatantly, gave me incorrect information, and had no compassion for the fact that I had not had a range. I was done. I filled out the paper where I wrote down the CEO of Front Door.

I'm working from home and I'm finding stuff that are broken. We put in new shower heads in both of my bathrooms but they were leaking. It won't stop. I called AHS and the contractor was able to fix the back bathroom. After two visits and me videotaping it actually leaking, they finally came back out. They had to order a part and fix it.

My main shower has the same showerhead and I finally got a video of it. I take a shower in the morning and sometimes like this time of day. I would hear a water trickling from it. I finally got a picture of it doing that and a picture of the puddle on the bottom of the tile where it's wet. I went online and said that I wanted to reopen it because it's within 60 days. They need to put a diverter in. When I talked to AHS on the phone, I told them what the problem was. They put it in as a leaky faucet. But Home Service Corp who was supposed to come out to do the second fix is saying they couldn’t come out if it was not a faucet. The other one wasn't a faucet and it was in their record what they fix. So now, I'm waiting.

The fan wasn't blowing into one of the critical areas of our house and we called American Home Shield. The contractor came out and said that it was the variable speed motor. Such a motor had to be ordered, which would take a couple of weeks, but the technician that came out was excellent. He did a number of things to make sure it truly was the motor and not that the motor wasn't getting the right signal. Once he got the motor out, he plugged everything back in just to see that when the air conditioning came on, it didn't activate the motor. He determined that it was the motor itself so, I was pleased with that. It’s probably gonna be another week or so before we get the AC in but we feel comfortable that that was exactly what was wrong. Anthem has done a very good job.

On plumbing though, I had a difficult time. The single biggest complaint about American Home Shield is how long it takes to reach a person and the groovy new thing to do is have you do everything online. But on those times when you need to talk to somebody, for it to take five minutes of a big wrestling match with the voice response unit, where you press 1 for this and you don't press that, and 9 for Spanish, then this, then that and you miss it, and you get to start all over, just reaching somebody.

When you do reach somebody, it would be so wonderful to get somebody that you could actually understand. Every once in a while, I would get somebody where English is their first language and you would know you're communicating. But there were other times when I was constantly asking what and saying I don't understand. And we go back and forth. The reps are very nice people but communication is so difficult. As you get older, it gets harder to understand people with different accents.

It was easy submitting a claim with American Home Shield. I spoke with their rep. There's always a little confusion online and the site always wasn't easy. I'd end up calling. Expert Pools came and replaced the upper portion of the filter. It had broken. It took almost two weeks to get that out. Everything is working fine now and the pool's clean. The technician that was sent out was awesome. He did the follow-up just before I called in and asked, "Where's my part?" I appreciated it. I've been with AHS ever since I bought this home. The prices went up, but I've been with them for almost 20 years.

We had a leak in our kitchen sink faucet. We couldn't determine where it was coming from but it was leaking from the top as well as underneath the sink. It was something we didn't feel confident about trying to repair ourselves. It had been going on that way for three days. The claims process is pretty easy. American Home Shield quickly set me up with a company. The company called me the next morning because it was late in the day when I requested it from American Home Shield. They set up a time for the following day and they came out and fixed the sink. They replaced the whole sink fixture. Everything is great.

I had an issue with my AC unit and so I called to get some service done on it. American Home Shield initially referred me to a company but that company was not able to come out. When I needed them to come out, they were booked up until a certain day. I needed the AC unit fixed ASAP. So I called back in and had AHS refer me to another company which was K & W Heating and Air. K & W was able to come out sooner than the previous company was able to.

The technician from K & W came out and they assessed the problem. Based on my coverage, they could only do minimum service because of the problem with the AC unit. Apparently, the ductwork needed to be expanded and they weren't able to do that. I was told that my coverage didn't cover that. I ended up hiring them to come out and repair it out of pocket because my elderly mother was living there. So I needed to get that done. Once they repaired it the first time, the system went out again. It started freezing up and it would stop blowing cold air. So they had to come out again and I had to pay out of pocket to get it fixed.

This particular visit for a pool pump issue from the vendor, Expert Pools, was very good. My husband was impressed with the guy that came out, his knowledge and all the things he did to make sure that everything was fixed. A few months prior, there was an issue with some of the pool equipment. According to the guy from Expert Pools, the other people didn't really have the right thing and they just kinda did a workaround and made it work and it didn't. That's part of what he thought might have caused this issue that we had. Expert Pools did seem to be very good and thorough and fixed some of the things that the other company apparently didn't do exactly right.

We had a really good experience this last time and that kinda restored our faith in some of the vendors that American Home Shield sent. We had a hot water heater one time and who they were sending couldn't find a hot water heater that would fit in our attic space. But as soon as I got my plumber on it, we had the issue resolved within two days. Then we had a really bad experience as well earlier this summer with an air conditioning unit and what they tried to do. It's still not resolved. We're just gonna sit on it for a while and not do it. If you've got an old outdated equipment and they're trying to replace it with just a replacement part for an old outdated equipment that's not gonna be sustainable long term, that's not acceptable. That's not what I'm paying a home warranty for.

They need to look at what the issues are. The only thing that they are willing to do to is give us what I call a 20-20 model to help us get a better price on a whole brand new unit and utilize some service provider that they had. So I’ve got to see if that offer’s still on the table. I definitely do have to call them back and discuss that issue with them and that’s a headache. They weren't even gonna upgrade our unit into one that would be functional going forward. Why would we spend $1,300 out of our own pocket to just replace something that's already outdated and it's gonna make it harder and harder and harder to get R22 freon and more expensive. I was appalled at that. Otherwise, everything else has been satisfactory. There have been a couple of shaky things and I can excuse them, but the air conditioning thing really sat very wrong.

Our Samsung refrigerator started flashing all kinds of numbers and it kept going into demo mode which was turning the icebox off. We called American Home Shield and they sent out Coastal Appliance. The company called to let me know when they’re coming. When they got here, they had the mask. They also did their distance. They said that they needed to change out all the touchscreen. They bought the whole assembly and changed it out.

About a week later, it started flashing different codes again so we called American Home Shield. They sent the guy back out and said to try a reset. They did a hard reset. A week has gone by and there was no problem. Today, I walked up to the icebox and it has another code on it that says AP. I called Coastal and they said that I have to go through American Home Shield. I understood that. I was just trying to figure out what AP stood for. It still has the code AP on it and they're gonna be back out again tomorrow to look at it. This has been the third call.

Coastal Appliance has been very cooperative. It’s just that we still have an issue. It might be a bad circuit board that they purchased. Then this one here, we cannot reset. Also, there is another code on the icebox. I cannot find anything online that said anything about an AP. So, through all the Samsung codes and going through all the little reboots, I don’t like those. I don't wanna unplug the unit because I don't wanna shut down something that's running and I might not start back up. I talked to a lady earlier today and she told me she would call me this afternoon and let me know what time they're showing up tomorrow. I've also used American Home Shield on my water well that has gone out twice. The company came out and replaced my water well for me. Also, the washing machine went bad and a company came out and fixed that. Then they were a little long on the hot water heater because we're trying to find somebody to do it.

AT Appliances came out in January to repair the microwave. They replaced the keypad thing and some other stuff. We didn't use it that much and then it stopped working again. We made sure American Home Shield sent out the same company because we didn't want them to send out somebody else and then they'll come out saying something else is wrong. So AT came out again and they fixed it. It seems to be fine right now. We didn't have a problem with the microwave, but when it comes to heating and air conditioning, i’s a totally different story. They send out people for years but whenever those kind of companies come out, all they do is try and rip you off. I don't know why American Home Shield don't even check.

A few years ago at the old house, the AC company came out and they said we needed Freon. The Freon is not covered much by American Home Shield, so that cost about $400 or $500. But it still wasn’t working. We called them out again and the next guy from the same company came out and said we needed Freon. We told him that they already put Freon in the last time. Then he said it must have leaked. We told him that their guy should have checked for a leak. So I told him to go in and then I called American Home Shield to send somebody else out. Then now, when we had a problem here with the AC, the company that American Home Shield was gonna send out was the one that we dealt with at the old house. I called American Home Shield and told them to send anyone else out but them. But then, they sent out the company.

The unit is on the second floor and we had a leak through the ceiling. I heard the tech talking and then they were saying that the drip pan where the water goes into needed to be replaced. They said that we can't order the drip pan by itself so we have to order the coil. I asked if it was all covered and they said, “Yeah.”

When they first got here, there’s a line where the excess water goes out. They said the line seems to be fine. When they left, they said that they need to order the coil and then I ran it that night, and it's working fine. So then I called the company and asked them to leave it at the moment and we will see what happens the next few days. When they were here, they gave me information on the cooling thing. But then I called a company in Texas and I asked about the drip pan. They told me that a drip pan can be ordered by itself and that it wouldn’t cost that much. So I called American Home Shield and told them we don’t want to do anything with this guy now.

American Home Shield gave me a quote and our share was like $2,600. But then, they were on about cash in lieu. Then somebody called me from American Home Shield the other day and they said they could give $1200. I explained everything that happened and the unit’s running fine but when they created the line, that was the problem. They’re sending out this bad company. I googled them and I saw the same things. I thought these were the old reviews from four years ago. Then I realized that people are still writing the same reviews now as four years ago about the Freon. When it comes to Freon, it still gets paid like $400 or $500, and they’re doing the same trick on everybody. So it means the home warranty doesn’t really do anything.

American Home Shield doesn’t even look at the reviews of the people they’re sending out. When I cancelled this guy who was coming out originally at this house, American Home Shield sent me this other company. Then I googled them and they’re 5 out of 5. I said, “Thanks, you’re sending us someone really good.” This time, I’ve got to the point where if you calculate what we’re paying American Home Shield, plus they’re trying to cheat us out of $2,000 each time they come out, it’s not worth having the home warranty.

These companies that they’re sending out are absolutely useless. When we had this leak here, pne of the guy that works for us at the house said he knows this company and they’re pretty much honest. When I called American Home Shield to ask if they're on their list, they said they're not on their list, so we couldn't choose them. But it’s better off to have a company that someone recommends and it's not gonna cost any more than it's gonna cost getting ripped off by these companies. It’s crazy.

When I called and talked to American Home Shield, it was fine. They have nice people working. But we don’t know what American Home Shield’s share is. We might be paying a whole lot and they get kickback from it. We’re thinking it’s better off to cancel this thing. I still got a bucket under the ceiling where it leaked last time in case somewhere along the line, it’s gonna start leaking. It must be four weeks now since the company came out and it hasn’t leaked.

American Home Shield was recommended by someone we know and they showed up in advertising. The process for submitting claims works well. They were honest and they said would only pay for a certain amount of the Freon. But in this case, the renter didn't understand a few things and thought it was the air conditioning's fault. They weren't used to using it all the time because of the heat in the house and they like it much cooler than everyone else. So, they thought that there was something wrong with the air conditioner because it cost them so much in electricity and they constantly complained. We found out that it was for the cost to run those things. They were overusing it.

We've been counseling and working with the renter telling them how difficult it is to cool a 1,700-square-foot house to 78 when it's 110 outside. It's a dead space in the house too, so that has to be filled. When we were living in that house, we used fans and very limited air conditioning. In really hot weather, we found a cool place and stayed there. The people from Valley Comfort who went there and looked at it did a good thing by saying that there was nothing wrong with it. That's good because that means I don't have to pay out a lot of money. They could’ve made something up. So, we went ahead and told them to do all the cleaning, maintenance and everything that they think was needed. They did and it was done, and we're satisfied.

After several day of them having to listen to their own recording of their staff telling me they would cover it someone from a different department called me to say he should not have told me that and that I would have to pay it. So they don't honor what their staff tells you. They said a Manager or Supervisor would be calling me and that never happen. I will not be renewing my protection plan with this company. Service on our broken dishwasher 5/17, parts ordered but no longer available. Waiting 4 months still no parts and no replacement. Many calls no help

I have been a member with AHS for several years, and as of May 17, 2020 my dishwasher has been broken and not FULLY repaired or replaced. When Sears came out on May 17th, 2020, they said they had to order parts. I called Sears several times to come back out and finish the work, and they said the parts are on back order, and they don't know if or when they will be available.

Sears said they contacted AHS with this information, but I never heard from anyone at AHS about replacing my dishwasher that has been broken for 4 months. I have also had to call Sears many times and have been notified by them that they have notified AHS that they are not able to obtain the parts and that they recommend replacing the dishwasher. Again, I have not received any contact from AHS with this information.

I have been calling the customer service line with AHS for the past 4 weeks. I have had to wait on hold for hours upon hours, and have been told every time I call that they will escalate the issue, and that someone will call me in 24 to 48 hours. So far only one of those that PROMISED to call me back has followed through, and no one has been able to bring a resolution to this issue.

My service request order for 5/17/2020 now says parts ordered. What does that mean? Parts are on back order and I have waited 4 months. How long do you expect me to wait for parts? I am extremely disappointed with customer service and the way that this matter has been handled. I purchased this warranty for peace of mind, unfortunately this has been a huge headache. My dishwasher has been broken for over 4 months and parts are still on back order and Sears recommends replacement. MY DISHWASHER NEEDS REPLACED NOW!

We had done some construction work in the house. When we were done, we cleaned the stove. It's a gas stove and we couldn't get the igniter to shut off. It kept trying to light so we unplugged it. American Home Shield sent the repairman out. He said that when we cleaned it, it probably got a little too wet around the switches. He plugged it back in and it was fine. The only thing that I found frustrating was that the number that they gave me to GE wasn't a number that seemed to be answered. When they called, it came through as a spam call. It was something that I ignored and then when I tried to call the GE people back, nobody answered. That was a little frustrating. But that wasn't on American Home Shield at all.

We renewed the contract with American Home Shield after we'd let it lapse. We've had other home warranties on other homes that we've owned and they've not been as good as American Home Shield. People should do a home warranty because when you don't have it, things get expensive. I would go with American Home Shield before I go with anybody else. The service people who came out for my ac got the job done and they were great. Trying to deal with American Home Shield was not pleasant though. When we called, they said somebody would call in 24 hours, but nobody called. So the next day, my husband called again, and this time, they said this was a servicer that they had farmed the job out to. So then, we got involved and had to do that ourselves. This is one of those things that you can't blame American Home Shield for. Everything didn't go smoothly because of COVID and people losing jobs and not being able to hire people in because the service people didn't have the budget for it. But American Home Shield didn't respond well to the fact that we were in triple-digit heat in Arizona. It was 114 degrees with no air conditioning. We have a 15-year old dog and we are 72 years old. One has a heart condition, and the other has upper respiratory infection with asthma.

I understood that they had a lot of things going on in a lot of parts of the country, but it seems to me when you live in territories where heat type problems are a big deal, American Home Shield should be prepared to deal with those kinds of things for those areas just like you would expect them to be able to deal with emergency type things in areas where they have floods or ice and snow. Under the circumstances, they probably did the best that they felt they could. My big complaint was when we finally got this ready that it could be fixed, American Home Shield was going to take four or five days more to approve it.

Then, I called another person who was involved with me buying American Home Shield at the closing table, and I said, "You know, I don't have anybody, an advocate for me and my husband. It's just the two of us here. And I don't know what's the next thing to do." He said, "Well, I'm gonna call someone who does." The next thing I know is we got a phone call that said they were gonna be able to approve it and they'd need to get the parts. The provider that was right here in town that we had been six days waiting for said, "We have what you need right here in our supply. We could get it installed today." American Home Shield said, "Oh, no, we have to order it from our purchasing department," which is gonna be another five to seven days.

Finally, we called the person that intervened back and they said they would make it a priority. So we got a callback and they said, "Okay, we're gonna let your provider do this." Then we got a call from the provider without American Home Shield saying, "Hold that one for us while we get a quick approval." They sold it. So we're back to five to seven days again, which is exactly what we had to wait for. In the long run, we were two weeks without air conditioning in triple-digit heat trying to make the best of a bad situation.

American Home Shield was offered at the closing table by the previous owner of this property. He had a lesser expensive but lesser benefit that he offered, and so we paid the extra money to get the best of the package because we wanted to be protected as much as we could be. From that point up to this point, I have only had one complaint and I didn't even bother to tell them about it. They sent somebody here who was supposed to fix something, and he was a political zealot and what we got to hear the whole time he was here was his political affiliation. I did not appreciate that.

I have to make concessions because of COVID. The people they assigned to us had to cut their staff by half. Then on top of that, they were having trouble getting parts here, let alone getting the parts manufactured because some of the manufacturing companies were trying to help with the PPP thing that needed to be done nationwide. It would really have been nice to have had an advocate that said, "You know what, I've got people I can call." With COVID going on, we couldn't go to a hotel. We were barely able to leave the house. I had to wrap my dog in warm towels all day long to keep him from going into heat exhaustion. Nobody even called to find out, "Are you guys making it? Can we send somebody? Can we do anything for you."

We just had to renew our contract. Weighing it out, I considered one really bad experience over a five-year time frame was not enough to say, "I'm done with you guys." So we did stay with them. But this is going to be the proof of the pudding here. If something happens again and we have to invoke the warranty, I'm not gonna be satisfied with them just calling somebody else to fix it. They don't send the same people in twice. When you have somebody that comes in and they do a really good job, and the next time you have to call someone in, you say, "Can you offer that person again?" But they say, "Oh, no, you can't select anybody." It would be a plus if you could.

The things that we had over five years that we had to have them come in to do were minor in comparison to this air conditioning thing. On top of it, it cost us 1,200. We had to pay $75 for the service call, and then we had to pay $1,245 for something that wasn't gonna be covered in this thing. And 12 days without air conditioning and running fans, my electric bill was $400. I was surprised it was that affordable, and there was not even a phone call from them.

I wasn't upset enough to say, "Okay, fine. I'm done with you guys." I started researching for the other warranties across the country, and I got a feeling everybody's about the same and some could be worse. Still, American Home Shield needs to work on this service thing. They overburden their customer service people that answer these phones or pick up the orders off the internet. I understand that not everybody stays with these jobs. So they give them a script and tell them to learn it. But when there are extenuating circumstances like heat and health and being alone in a pandemic, they should've done a little bit more.

I really am trying very hard to be honest and still be gracious about it. It didn't get below 90 degrees in this house. Considering it was 113 or 114 outside, it was still a coffin. There was no way to get relief. All we were really doing with the fans on was just blowing hot air around. We tried buying a portable air conditioning, and that won't work because our ceilings are higher.

More effort should have been extended by American Home Shield. My daughter had recommended that I call the local television station and put out, "If you've got American Home Shield, this is how you get treated." I did not do that. I didn't think that that was appropriate. The benefit of all these was it gave me a really good understanding of what people deal with when they live somewhere and they have hurricanes and floods and power downs and there's no immediate response to get it fixed. It was a life lesson. It's frustrating in the long run. It's working. They didn't replace the whole unit, which means this time next year, it's gonna cost us probably $1,500 and another 12 days for them to come back. The only thing they chose to replace was the air handler. If there's a dime's worth of life in anything, they're not gonna replace it.

As far as recommending American Home Shield, we have recommended 10 different people for American Home Shield where we live and across the country. I'm not gonna recommend. If someone asks me, "Who do you have?" I will tell them. And then when they say, "Has your experience been good?" I will say, "It's probably been as good as I could've expected it to be. But was it stellar overall? No."

I was comfortable enough to recommend American Home Shield to friends and people that I meet through my business that are moving into this area from out of state. But it has made me stop to say, "I have used this, and on the whole, everything's been relatively good experience. But I did have one hoo-ha, and being in Arizona when your air conditioning goes out, you can't wait." The only way we could've had immediate resolution was we had to let them cash out. Then we'd have to go out and we'd still have to find somebody to do it and go through all that stuff again. So, that wasn't much of a remedy.

We've had a contractor that we've been waiting on to come out, but we haven't even heard from them yet. Our most recent claim with American Home Shield has been very difficult. We've been going through it for like a month now. There had been times where there was a three-hour wait time for me to talk to somebody. The first time I did it, I did the online and it told me that someone would call me. I waited like a week or a week and a half and no one ever called. So I called and that was where I had been waiting for so long to finally talk to somebody. And in the middle of talking to them, the rep had to go talk to her team and while she was talking to her team, the call got disconnected, and they never call back. I had to wait another three hours to talk to somebody.

We had like two claims at the same time. A dryer and a pool vacuum went out at the same time. The dryer has since been fixed and the pool vacuum, we haven't even heard from anybody yet. With fixing the dryer, the contractor was great. We also had our dishwasher fixed two months ago and that was perfectly fine too. That one went as smoothly as could be. Overall, the whole process with American Home Shield has to go through so many different steps that I'm not exactly sure where it's going wrong.

Our air conditioner was blowing hot air. I called Home Shield at 3 o'clock in the afternoon to report the problem. I waited for about four minutes to talk to somebody. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and the day the air conditioning went out, it was about 107 here so it was extremely hot. At 8:45 the next morning, a technician from Doctor Cool called and said he was on his way. He was here at 9:05 and he had the problem fixed by 9:35. The house was cooling down and he was on his way. The technician was extremely professional and as nice as he could possibly be. He knew how hot it was because he lives here too.

Home Shield was excellent. If we would have had to call somebody else, it would have been an expensive fix. This time, my husband's not working and we're very short on money. The fact that we only paid a $75 service fee was a blessing. It could have been a 4 or $500 fee to fix the air conditioner, but it wasn't. We're very thankful. As a matter of fact, I got my stepfather to get the home warranty. My niece now has it too. I tell anybody who asks that they should get it.

I was so disappointed that I've been having problems with my AC off and on. MS Services said that it had a leak and they can't really repair it anymore because it's been ongoing. Every time they add Freon, it would be gone again after a few months. I probably need a replacement. It has to be done because it's an old AC, and the last several years, I haven't called American Home Shield about this because I was taking care of it on my own and then I realized, "Wait a minute, I've been spending so much money getting it repaired and I have American Home Shield.” So, that was how they were able to send somebody recently. Everything went well. The contractors were very professional and very knowledgeable. They were wearing masks and gloves.

When I can get ahold of American Home Shield, they're fine. It's just been so hard to get ahold of them. I had an oven and microwave combo that was just recently replaced. And the problem with that was the company that brought it here was the one who was supposed to install it too. I wasn't home at the time and I told my son that my space is a quarter-inch small. They couldn't install it. They told me that they had to cut a quarter inch from the cabinet where it's supposed to fit into. So that took a while. I finally got someone. I asked him to fix some lighting here and he saw that my oven was still sitting in the garage. My son and him tried and they didn't even have to cut anything. They were able to put that. I ended up paying someone else to connect all this because I couldn't get ahold of American Home Shield.

I was on the phone for more than an hour one time. I just left it on and finally got ahold of somebody who had to transfer me to another 20-minute hold. It was already 6 o'clock and I got disconnected. So, I was so upset. I would still recommend them because they have taken care of my stuff. When I can get ahold of them, everybody's been so nice.

I've had American Home Shield since it was provided when we bought our home in May of 2018, but we had other home warranty companies before as well. This home is about 19 years old and some of the systems have had issues. We've had to do some things with it and American Home Shield has been thorough and responsive. It's clear what they cover and we extended our warranty because of the value we saw beyond the first year that we had it. We plan on keeping the warranty forever too.

We had some issues with the AC units and apparently, it wasn't draining properly. We didn't know if it was a mechanical or some physical issue somewhere or the line. We couldn't diagnose where it was and describe the issue. The technician then came out and brought the right tools in. Immediately, in terms of what needed to be done, he was super efficient. He solved the problem within minutes, and then he gave me some tips on what to do and how to address it myself as well as a couple things to buy that I didn't have. He gave me some good practices I can perform on a three to six month basis as maintenance and it will do to keep that issue from happening again and having to file a claim.

Now, the AC has been working great. It's been draining properly and no longer draining on the back of the house. We learned something from one of our roofers that when it leaks above the drain of the window, that there's something wrong in the system. We also learned from A-US how we can treat the pan with some rubber protective spray to keep it from rusting. We got some good tips when they came out and everything seems to be working well. All in all, I'm very happy with American Home Shield and the contractors that they have selected and vetted out.

I didn't like the work with HVAC and then, I couldn’t get anyone on the phone from American Home Shield that I could speak to without them being in another country that wasn't noting my account properly. HVAC put it on paper that I needed one thing and then they called me and told me something different. I told them to contact Home Shield and they didn't. I ended up having to pay out of pocket and I wasn't happy with that. I was really going to cancel the warranty, and then I decided to keep it.

When the hot water heater went out, I called Home Shield and let them know what was going on. They sent someone here to survey it and then, they had C Mayes set up an appointment to replace it. Before that, I had to get other work done before they can come out. Once all the pipes got done, then they sent someone out to do the hot water heater. They explained everything and they did what they were supposed to do.

However, I had some water on my floor. I called them last week, and they couldn't get anyone back out till Tuesday. In the meantime, I had water on my floor that I wasn't sure if it came from them, or the people that pulled the floor. I wasn't happy that they gave me an appointment till Tuesday, not knowing where the water was coming from and if my basement was gonna be completely full of water again. Nevertheless, I got that up and there wasn't any more water, but they’re still coming out tomorrow. Apart from that, the initial work that was done was great, and the initial explaining was great.

It's been fantastic with American Home Shield and they have been timely at getting back to us. We haven't always been happy with who they've chosen to send, but always happy with Home Shield solving it. We had Vector Appliances out here and they took an appliance apart in my front yard. Then after they've been out there monkeying around with it for a long time, they said they had to get another part because it was not just the bearing. They asked if they could take the unit with them to their shop and I let them take it. Almost a week went by and I called them. I asked what was going on with the part and they said they had to order a part besides the bearing. I asked when it was coming in and they said it was supposed to have arrived. I called them again the following Monday and they said they won't have it ready till the 14th of July.

A lady called me back the next day and said the part came late the night before and that the guys worked on it all night. She said they would come put it back together that day. They did and the guy had me sign for it but I realized that he wrote on there that I refused to wait for the part. I was fuming. That was not how it went down. I called Home Shield and I told them to not send out Vector here again. ABM Appliance then came out and the tech looked at it. They said they could not get parts for it and put in to have a replacement. Then they called me and said that American Home Shield gave an adjustment of 714.52 that they would send to me because the machine cannot be repaired.

It's been comfortable since the repair. I live in Florida and I need AC especially in the summer. I just wish AHS answers the phone. They told me that it was gonna take a while because they were the only ones that were doing appliances for American Home Shield but they gave me the exact date of when they would come. They came out and took pictures of what they needed. Then, the next guy came out after the part came to me in the house and installed it. They're always very professional and they ask should they put these on and all that kind of stuff. American Home Shield is a very good company. Their representatives are very cordial and helpful. There was a small problem with the belt of the dryer and the tech fixed it. Also, I had a toilet leak and they were outstanding. Then, the lighting around the swimming pool kept shorting out. A.J. Moore Electric came out and the tech was patient enough to find the problem and fix it for me. He spent about two and a half hours here and he fixed it. I expound on AHS all the time. I tell people they're crazy if they don't have AHS's insurance.

One of the pipes had a leak in it and we kept thinking it was coming from the roof. We had a brand-new roof put on and it's still leaking in there. Then the whole wall was wet. It all had to be torn out and that was when we found the leak. It ruined the flooring and the 2x4s in the wall were rotted. It had been going on for a long time. I called it in to American Home Shield and they said they would call a plumber then the plumber would call and tell us when he's coming. The plumber called and said he would be there whatever day that was. He came out and looked at the problem. Then he said he would go back and turn in an estimate to American Home Shield. He wasn't there very long. Then we never heard from him.

We called back ourselves because we were desperate. We didn't turn the water off and so the water was running and there's more water coming in. It was where we had to go out into the street and that would turn all the house water off. I asked to please jump on it as soon as they could. The guy said he'd turn in a report. But we never got any message back from American Home Shield, so I called the plumbing people back myself. I said that we never heard from the gentleman that they sent out.

The guy that I talked to said his wife takes care of all that. I asked if they could call me back soon. He said that they just have to turn the report in to American Home Shield and his wife is working on it at the moment. They were nice. They called back pretty soon and said they're gonna send the same gentleman that came out to give the estimate. They gave a timeline between 11:00 in the morning till 7:00 in the afternoon. The gentleman came out and fixed it. We had to put all new sheetrock in then we had a contractor come and do that. We asked if that would be covered with American Home Shield and they said it wouldn't and that we’d have to take that up with our homeowner's insurance.

American Home Shield's claim process is very simple. The only problem we have is when we file a claim and there is a follow-up. It's so hard getting in contact with them to file the claim in. There needs to be another department that follows up with the customer. And they should make sure everything is completed within their allotted time frame. There should at least a be follow-up from American Home Shield and not me trying to call them. The hold time would be two hours. A technician comes out to the house whatever the case may be. But if there is a follow-up, it's very difficult. We filed a claim with a microwave and it is yet to be installed.

That aside, I would still recommend American Home Shield. They fixed several items within my home and I'm satisfied with it. For a clogged drain, we filed the claim and the issue was resolved within the week. The technician from Plumbing Enterprises was great and very professional. He answered our questions and handled the situation. He was in and out within a half an hour.

I called AHS on a Friday for an AC claim and Mister Freeze was out by Monday. Overall, the contractor tried to be professional. The only thing was he left a couple of little wires dangling from the fan outside, but I just stuck them back inside. They were crimped good and I just shoved them back in. At the time, I got a second opinion from somebody else 'cause I wasn't too sure. Even American Home Shield told me that they were gonna charge me for the Freon.

I did the preventive maintenance through this other company and then called Mister Freeze back to refill the Freon. The second company came out and cleaned the unit and the furnace. They basically told me what Mister Freeze told me, I was missing four pounds of Freon, except Mister Freeze was a lot cheaper for the Freon than this other company was.

One time, AHS sent me a plumber and I kept the business card and wrote on it, "Never use again." The guy wanted to cut a hole in my tub to replace a valve, so I got a second opinion. The second company came and was able to replace all the valves without having to cut anything. The first company told me that he couldn't find those valves. The second guy found them in a day. He was, "Oh, no. I could get them."

I called in a claim to American Home Shield for our dryer which was not working. I reached out to the contractor yesterday and they were to call me back and let me know if they were coming today but I never heard back. I called again today and I’m currently waiting to hear back. The problem wasn’t the contractor but trying to communicate with AHS. So, it was their customer service. I've been calling and the only person that kept their word and followed back was Hannah. She was the one who set up for the dryer. She called me back and she was nice and professional. She had very good customer service. She was very polite and she showed that she was very concerned. You're helpless if you're dependent on something you've been paying on. Not everyone always keeps their word and be precise about it but she did. She made it a whole lot better. She was wonderful.

I also had an issue on the icemaker. The refrigerator is 2005 and since last year, we've been getting this icemaker fixed over and over. Sears was the first company that they sent out here. Then it was Miss Appliance. I told them not to send them here anymore because they're not fixing it. When the two companies came, the icemaker didn't work past the time that they left. We had to call it back in. Then the next time, it didn't work again. Then they come back and fixed it and replaced it. I asked American Home Shield why they want to keep buying the pieces to that and paying them. We're paying $75 and that’s wasted money.

The last company was here two weeks ago and so far, the ice maker has been working. But now, the refrigerator wouldn't stay closed. He changed the rubber lining around it but that's causing the electrical bill to go up. Every time you turn around, the refrigerator’s popping open and you don't know it’s open. Then you go over there and the refrigerator is open. It can start affecting your food. The refrigerator’s old. It's time to do away with it if it's giving us all these different problems one after another. This is the fifth time the ice maker is getting fixed so if they are not gonna do anything about it and if they're going to keep making excuses not to replace it, then they shouldn’t tell people to invest in their company for an extended warranty. People keep coming in and out the house to do the same thing over and over.

We still have our dishwasher that’s still not working. They sent out one company and then that company said a plumber needed to come out. The plumber came out and said there was nothing he could do. He was referring it back to the original company that AHS had sent it to. They were supposed to have someone come back out to fix it. Their contractors came in and it's still not working. I called American Home Shield because over a week has gone by and I haven't heard from anyone. They told me that they haven't gotten their reports back from the vendor and to give them 24 to 48 hours. It has been two and a half weeks now.

The contractor also came out to fix the washing machine and we haven't had any problems with it. But it’s like everything's happening back-to-back. Before all of this, we didn't have any problems with American Home Shield although the customer service was not good. They never call back when they say they’re gonna call back. I'm still waiting for that phone call. We’ve been paying American Home Shield and I'm very disappointed because when I call in to them, they treat me as if I'm a third party. It’s not like we are in business with one another and they're contracting out for us. They're treating me as if my concerns are not a concern.

American Home Shield has been really good, so far. They have the email that has the news on it and different things. You can select one of the things on there and make a claim or request a service. I did that and then I was told that the contractor would come on a certain day in the morning. The contractor from Jets Electrical called ahead of time to let us know that they were coming. He had an assistant with him and they showed up on time. They went about their business in a very businesslike manner. They were quick and efficient. They completed the job and left.

There were switches in the hallway that were not wired correctly. The garbage disposal switch was also not connected right and there was a GFI plug that was bad and needed to be replaced. There was also a light bulb that was out. Jets Electrical fixed all that. Everything was fine except the one switch that was bad with the garbage disposal. The tech thought it was a loose wire and it worked right when they left. But a few days later, ut went out again. So I ended up replacing that switch myself later ‘cause it didn't work right still.

The air conditioner service was great. I put in the order that night at eight o'clock on the phone just like all the automated stuff, and by 10 o'clock the next morning they were out, the AC was fixed and we had air. It was seamless and the technician had his mask on. He didn’t put any booties or anything on but he was very professional in taking precautions and I was very pleased.

American Home Shield was great with the air conditioner but not so great with some of my other things. We are also currently having issues with our washing machine and I'm going on week five without one. It started with me calling and the person told me that Sears would call me. I asked him if he was sure and told him that Sears closed in Lincoln two years ago. He said it was fine and gave me the number for Sears, I called that number and they told me that they could come out and do it, but it's not gonna go through my insurance. I asked what they meant and they said that my insurance company has to call and set up the appointment. I said that AHS told me that Sears would call me and they haven't so I'm calling them.

I called back to American Home Shield and got somebody else. The rep said that the call hadn't even been processed. So, she set up a new call and I got a new dispatch number. A new person was gonna be coming out. The next company took a little over a week before they were able to even come out. So that's going on three weeks without a washer at that time. When they came, they looked at it and were there for 10 minutes. They were professional and told us what was wrong with it. Then, they contacted American Home Shield and told them.

I was up to nine hours on hold with AHS trying to get all this resolved. I was up to 18 calls. I even went back through my call log. I would call in, get an agent and they would say that the person that came out for the company, Acreage, didn't fill out the report. The rep from AHS would call them while I was on hold. They talked to them and found out what was wrong. It was gonna cost more than what it was worth to fix it. I said that they told me this already. I waited another week and nobody called me back. I called back in and had to explain the whole thing again. At that time, there was nothing on file that they had called Acreage and got this report, which it had already been reported twice at this time. So they called Acreage and left a message. Acreage eventually apparently called them back and this person guaranteed that he was gonna call me back. I still haven't heard back from them and that was three weeks ago.

Eventually, I called again for another agent and it was the same story. They have already called them three times and this wasn’t on my file. I had the option to be put on hold for 20 minutes and I would be the next person in line. I put it so that it would call me back. Eight hours later, I still hadn't gotten a call back. So, I called in the next day. This was frustrating but while all this was going through, I had the service for my air conditioner done and dealt with within 14 hours. So, I've had the worst experience and the best experience with AHS.

The AC would stop working. That went on for a while and we would get very hot and get sick. My granddaughter is sick. She got a heart problem. Also, I’m 78, so air condition is a necessity. Home Shield sent different technicians to troubleshoot. They replaced some electrical and gave us a different sensing unit but that didn't take care of problem. Eventually, we told the tech, “It’s the motor.” But they had to catch it. The contractor came out twice but they saw nothing wrong and they put Freon. And then it again happened. Mr. Freeze came out. They also saw nothing wrong. It took about seven or eight people to come out altogether, and my daughter and I we’ve been telling them we believe it’s the motor because when I put my hand on the motor, it blows, I felt jerk and then it runs for a while and then it stops.

The outside unit, where the compressor is, runs but inside the house, everything is dead. That could be another problem. Eventually, the truck came out. They replaced the motor, a bracket and the relay. A relay was the problem electrically. But the motor also was not balanced. Finally, after two months, they took care of the problem.

I do thank Home Shield. I know I was a pain in the butt calling them all the time. But I was scared for my granddaughter is sick. Her little ticker has a little problem and that scared the hell out of me. Now, the AC runs fine. It’s nice and cool and no more problem and one technician would probably need to replace a circuit breaker. They left the circuit breaker because it ran just fine after they replaced the relay, motor, and the brackets because that was original problem. But I'm grateful to Home Shield that they stood by us and took care of the problem.

Home Shield is good to us. I’ve been with them for 18 years now. I don't like to change and I'm happy we didn't have a lot of problems. That was the first time that we had a really serious problem because it was hot. But they did good. I wish everybody has a system where we can get hold of them quicker. And then they have to find somebody. Apparently, they get people who are down in Los Angeles or somewhere, so there was a lot of delay. But It’s okay. I’m just happy that the problem is taken care of now.

I had an issue with my dryer. The claim experience was good. I was satisfied with the work. The technician came out and assessed the situation pretty quickly. Then they had to order the replacement part, so that took a little bit. But then, they called me once the part came in. I was actually on an out-of-town vacation, but soon as I got back, I called them. They scheduled for the technician to come out. He came out and put it in in about 15 minutes and then he was done. It's been working great since then.

I had one issue with another claim that I was making, where the online or the phone automated system, it did not let me combine. I had two plumbing issues and when I was using their automated system to put in the claim on the phone, it did not allow me to list the two issues at the same time. It only let me do one. Then I went through the process trying to add it on and it treated it as a second claim. But both were plumbing issues which could have been handled by a single plumber coming out. I called and I spoke directly to a representative on the phone and they corrected that, and they were able to fix it. But the process would have been a little simpler and I wouldn't have had to wait for the representative to make that initial claim if their automated system had given an option for that.

The warranty is great. Because things, over time, just need repair and the cost is significantly better if you have the home warranty. I would highly recommend it to any homeowner who wants to save on repair costs for their home. American Home Shield has been really good with the issues that I've had. They're quick to respond to the concern that I have and quick to contact different contractors to come out and deal with issues. Then, they've been good with following up to make sure, even just via email responses, that I can verify that everything's done correctly and in a timely manner.

As a single person, it is a saver for me even though sometimes, you have a hit or miss, especially AC. I’ve had some bad AC people. AHS even sent out somebody and I said no. I looked it up on the Better Business Bureau. But the ones from Beaches Air Conditioning were a hit. They were pleasant and efficient, and wore masks.

The technician didn’t have to do very much work. He spent some time outside but at least he didn’t try to sell me more Freon. In that sense, they were straightforward. He kinda finished up and I was so excited. I did call back to the company. They didn't leave me an invoice nor tell me what was wrong. When I called to follow up, I was told that the manager would send me an invoice. They would contact the person who came out. I said that if it’s something I could learn, I don't need to call them back. But I never heard back either way and I didn't follow up. I wish they would’ve followed up in a timelier manner with my call for an invoice and explained so I’ll know in the future.

I had to have one air conditioning company out nine times in a row in 2016. I wasn't smart enough then to realize that after about five tries, I could call American Home Shield and insist that they send a different company. This time, I caught on very quickly and I read the reviews, called them within an hour of placing the service and they told me who it was. And I remembered the name. I looked them up and they had awful all over the board. So, I called up American Home Shield and they said that they would change for me. They saw I had problems in 2016. The new people that they sent out were very competent.

I would recommend AHS. My son and his wife just bought a new house down here in Jacksonville, and I'm trying to get them to pick it up. They haven't realized yet how much it would help them. It’s hard to sell to them because they're both working professionals and the only problem is you do have to stay home and hope that they come out on time. But that's a whole another issue. We have that problem with all repair people.

My washer was broken. There's something wrong with that model machine because this is the second one of the same model that I've had. It's a terrible product. Valleywide Appliance said it was not fixable. I got an email saying that I could pick one of their products, but I really wanted to go and pick my own product from Home Depot or something.

My service was pretty good. At first, I was a little annoyed because I wanted my machine fixed and the technician couldn't get it fixed. He spent a lot of time on it and I thought he knew what he was doing. But then, he fixed my other appliances really well. He told me why my dishwasher wasn't functioning right and it was my fault. But that washer has been frustrating for me because it's no one's fault. It was just taking a little while to get resolved. But I was very happy with him and I was very satisfied with the experience.

We've had AHS for 10 years between three different homes. There are so many different little loopholes. Submitting claims is not too difficult but there's always something that's not covered. And if it is covered, there's a huge ticket that comes with it. Also, things that were time-sensitive would take several days to get a service company out. But it depends. In the past, we were able to get a technician quickly. It's a pretty good price we pay monthly and we pay every time a service company comes out. I wish that there weren't so many things that are not included in repairs. Also, I would like for them to find some suppliers or vendors locally where if it's a time sensitive issue, they could go pick up a part and come back.

Otherwise, it's okay. It's better than the other warranty company we had, who was terrible. Our most recent service call was our best experience yet. We had an AC issue and AHS was able to get somebody out there the next morning, which was amazing. I usually hate Greenway but they had a wonderful technician come out. This last experience with both AHS and Greenway was wonderful.

I have AHS at my home that's currently a rental in North Carolina and I have not received feedback from the residents there that there were any issues with them. So, everything is fine. They've been very prompt, professional and has been very reliable in whatever issues I’ve had.

High Priority Plumbing came out and replaced a toilet. They slipped something over their feet when they came in and they had masks and gloves. Also, they had sanitizer with them. I had to follow up with them and it was about two weeks but fortunately, I had two toilets. I was very pleased with AHS on this claim but I'm having an issue with an AC claim.

I called to have my air conditioning checked and the people they gave me called when I was in the other restroom so I didn't pick up the phone. I called right back and I kept leaving messages for about a week and nobody called me back again. I called AHS and told them to cancel it. I was concerned because it's an older system and I wanted to make sure it was fine. They said they would set me up with another contractor. Then I got an email from them that said I'm set up with this other contractor. I asked what I needed to repay and if they are refunding me my $75 and they said they will just use the one that I had paid.

Then, the first contractor called and tried to reset it. I told the rep what happened and told them to call AHS. And then the second contractor tried to get an okay from them and it was refused. There's some mix up here but I hope I get my money back. AHS said they're backed up. Last time I called, which was a week ago, it would be between the 11th and the 15th.

The air conditioner is not cooling, and my part is taking months to come in. I went online to request service to American Home Shield. They said they'll call me when the parts come in. Normally, they'll call in one or two days later. I like the contractors that came out. They came to fix the top one then it went out again, so they gotta come Monday to do something with it. Overall, AHS is normally good, but this time, they’re awful.

The water in my upstairs bathroom would not stop draining. Then the water in the upstairs tub was running constantly and my water bill was sky high. The guy from another company first came to my house. He looked at it and said that it would cost me $150 because what they said needed to be done to it was not covered under the Home Shield plan. He said that they would call me back in a day or so. I agreed with what they said.

However, the technician never called me back. Secondly, when I called the young lady at the office, she was talking too fast. By the time we got off the phone, she had gone from $150 to $549 for them to come back to my house. I hung up the phone on her. I don't ever want them to come. They didn't even leave a business card or any type of quotes on writing. Then the gentleman from Prime Plumbing Services came out and he replaced something. He had the part on his truck. He was in and out in about 10 minutes. He explained to me everything that he did and he took care of the problem.

We had American Home Shield before and I was not happy. We had to cancel the warranty. Later on, we got an email from Select Home Warranty. They were trying to sell their service to us. The problem was they were in all other states but not in Nevada. They recommended going through with American Home Shield again. We wanted to make sure that all of our appliances and all the stuff that we have in the house are protected, so we signed up again. But we were not happy with them because we had a really bad experience. We had a couple of issues. We had a plumbing problem and they didn't bother to fix it. They thought it was preexisting. We also had an air conditioning issue. My wife started canceling because American Home Shield was not really helping us. They were just finding a way to tell us that the issue was a preexisting one.

But we put the home warranty back again. Our first experience has been okay and we are happy with that right now. We had a washer that started making noise. We had to close it and it stopped working. We filed a claim with American Home Shield and they sent a local contractor, Vector Appliances. They were very good and professional. The gentleman looked at the situation, found the problem, and fixed it. He put the new piece of whatever was underneath the washer. He left the old one there as well. It took him a few minutes to take care of the problem. We haven't had a problem since.

The claim I had with Home Shield was for my air conditioner that wasn't working. I called on Saturday and the Air Design AC tech came out on Monday. He was super friendly. He replaced some part, and.was in and out in 30 minutes. Everything's good. That 30-minute repair could've been an entire replacement of my unit. The warranty cost me 50 bucks a month, plus 115 bucks for the call, which was for the security. If it had been I needed a whole air conditioning unit, then it would have been covered as well.

The AC stopped working. It wasn't turning on or cooling. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and the Sierra people were able to come out pretty quickly. The turnaround time was pretty good and they were able to fix the issue on the same day that they came out. As far as claim submission, everything goes fine mostly. The only thing that is a little bit of a hassle is once I hit the submit button and they told me my assigned contractor, the assigned contractor never reaches out to me or hardly ever reaches out to me. I always have to reach out to them. Every time I submit an order, I wait for some time to hear back. And if I don't, then I call the contractor. When I call them, they already know that they have an order from me. It seems like American Home Shield correctly communicates the order to them, but then the contractors are not reaching out to me. Also, I haven't had any issues so far in terms of them not covering anything.

I had two experiences with Home Shield. The first one was good. It was fine and well. It was a quick response. However, I'm not too happy about the second one. I spoke to JR Plumbing last week. A week after they came, the toilet seat cracked. I was just informed that there was a crack and leakage again. I thought they resolved it the first time. So, even though Home Shield said the work is done, they gave me another expense of trying to fix the toilet seat. I've been trying to get in touch with them to let them know the issue that the toilet seat is cracked due to the person they sent, but they have not responded back to me. I told them they go out and fix something and they ended up causing more damage. They haven't resolved the issue.

It takes a couple of days before you find out who is gonna come when you call American Home Shield. Fortunately, for our induction cooktop claim with Attwoods, I was notified that day. The technician was very professional. He had a mask on and wore booties. He also had a bottle of hand sanitizer. He asked if we had a garage where he could come through. He let me open the door. When he came in, he sprayed the handles. He didn't touch. He came in with his gloves on and went to work. He was very professional. The technician couldn’t repair it at the time. He had to order a special part for it and it was a thermal fuse. It took about a week to get the part. But it was fine waiting a few weeks. We just had a barbecue every night.

It's easy to submit a claim with American Home Shield. I call and speak to a representative but I just have to wait sometimes. When we had our heater/air conditioner problem, they gave Air Control Home Services the contract to do it. They came out and said that a part had to be replaced. Then when they started to replace it, they found other things had gone wrong and it took about two and a half weeks to get the heater/air conditioner going. But we had two units, so we just stayed in the back of the house to be warm. But it got pretty cold in February last year.

Beyer Appliance came out because the dishwasher wasn't filling with water. It just calmed no matter what setting you put it on all the way around. He found like a float. He ordered that and then the one that swishes the water around was broken. So he replaced those and it worked great. Then I used it once, went out of town, came back and by the time I have enough dishes to run another cycle, the same thing, it didn't work. But when he came out, he was like, "It's working just fine. It has to drain.” But that had never happened before.

I bought this thing brand spanking new. But it is 16 years old. But I never had to wait like that. I haven't run a load yet. But it worked when he left. He showed me, the water was coming in and it was like, "Yeah, that happened last time, too." The technician was fabulous, very professional, explained everything and wore his mask. I just hope I don't have to call them again. Since I live alone, I have to wait to fill up the load. Hopefully, it's fixed. One time, I had to have my garbage disposal replaced. The same company came out and they were very professional.

A year ago, County Plumbing from Lodi came out to replace a hot water heater which I don't know if it had to be replaced. For the next year, they failed four different inspections. The inspectors, because they felt sorry for us, only charged them one fee. They're supposed to charge County Plumbing each time they have to re-inspect and County Plumbing refused to pay it. Plus, County Plumbing charged us $1,500 for parts. When the inspector came out, he said they didn't spend more than 100 on any of those parts that they put in there. That was the kind of person AHS gave me.

Each time AHS called to have County Plumbing re-come out, they would make me wait months before they would appear. I even called the contractors board and the guy was supposed to take care of it and get back to me, but never heard back from them. Now I'm going to try to follow up on it 'cause we have to get it inspected and cleared so we don't have to lien on our property. It appears we're going to have to pull another permit ourselves and pay that then probably pay County Plumbing's fee. It was a sad tale of woe. Everybody was always very nice when I called but nothing ever got done about it and they kept saying it was not their fault and that they had nothing to do with the inspections. Well, they do 'cause they sent that someone out here who didn't know his butt from a hole in the ground to do my work. We've been members for many years and that's the first bad experience we've had.

The last couple times we've had people out, they've been very professional. The most recent one was ice maker wasn't working in the refrigerator. We had a contractor come and he did a good job. We were pleased with the nice young man and I asked him if we could request him again. He even wrote his name down 'cause he was very knowledgeable.

During the pandemic, calling AHS has been pretty bad because everybody's home and the kids are breaking things and people are bored. So, they're calling to get things that they probably put off getting them fixed. The waits were always like an hour online whenever we called for any reason. But I understand. I know the world's a crazy place right now for all of us.
