I called American Home Shield first about my refrigerator. The guy from the first company was supposed to come to my home. They did not come into the house. He told me to just take a picture of the serial number to the refrigerator and he would order the part. But I never heard from the company for three weeks. A month later, my refrigerator was still broken. So, I called the home warranty company to tell them that I had been waiting for a whole month and it still was broken. They kept giving me the runaround, saying that they had to take it to a higher level and somebody else would have to approve for another company come out. Eventually, it got taken to someone that could approve for a second refrigerator company to come out. They came out and fixed it almost on the second visit.

The second company that came out was American High-Tech Appliance. They were very good. Their tech fixed my refrigerator. He came the first time, looked at it, and knew exactly what part needed to be done. He said he didn't have that part on his truck, but he would get a part. He came back in less than a week and fixed my refrigerator. Everything has been great and I haven't had any problems. My freezer part of the refrigerator is working perfectly.

I always call American Home Shield to let them know, and they contact whatever company they deal with. But my warranty is up in November and I'm still on the fence about renewing them only because it took a month and several phone calls to get a second appliance company to come out. It was on the warranty company to find the second company for us. So, that made me very angry that they wouldn't take that step.

The AC is really old and it is taking a long time to cool down the house. It hasn't been dripping. But the technician said it was gonna need to be replaced soon. He said something was clogging it and he cleaned it out. But he couldn't see the bottom of the pan. He told me to call back if it kept dripping after 72 hours. But I've been checking it and I didn't see it dripping anymore. I love Home Shield. There has been one thing after another that has been going on and I've had to call Home Shield so many times. I had two claims in three days and they’ve been really good. For a home warranty, I'm really satisfied with them.

I called American Home Shield to let them know that I had an issue. There was stoppage in the sink. The first time they sent somebody out, that was fine. I spoke to the plumber and he said to me that because I have a pedestal sink, it's kinda restricting him from snaking the entire pipe. I told him I would have to have it removed but I would have to talk to my insurance company. He said it was not a problem and that he'd write something up. When I received the correspondence through email, it said that my claim couldn't be approved due to a restriction. I already knew that the restriction was the pedestal sink so I called back to talk to somebody about that a couple of days afterwards. They told me that according to my policy, the service couldn't be authorized because my policy did not cover it.

I said, "Ma'am, it's a stoppage. The issue is that there is a restriction due to the sink. If I have the sink removed, how long will it take for you guys to have a plumber come out?" For some reason, the girl could not get that. She tried to read to me what the plumber said. I was trying to explain to her, "I know what the plumber said. I am asking you about coming out to snake the drain. Clearly the service is approved because he was able to do it to two other sinks. The only problem is that there's a restriction." But that was not happening. So, after having me on hold for an hour and 15 minutes, she sent me to another department. She told me that the supervisor was not available at the time.

I had the same conversation and they still denied it. The guy said, "What I can do is I can get you a second opinion." Water Control Plumbing did some work for me before and I said I would like to have them come out because I trust that they're going to do the job and they're gonna explain exactly what took place. He told me that they were not in the queue at the time and that I need to call back. I called back the next day to get Water Control.

I had this sink removed the day after I talked to them 'cause I thought I was not gonna go through this drama. After he called me and told me that it was done, he told me that I didn't have to have the sink removed in order to get the drain snaked. That was just $150 that I spent to have it removed and put another one in. It was very stressful experience and I was not happy. I have never had an experience like that with American Home Shield before but this time, I was so irritated.

I would have liked the representative to have listened instead of trying to convince me that the service was not covered under my contract. She was trying to explain to me that based on my coverage, it was not covered because it wasn't normal wear and tear. I told her, "Ma'am, please help me to understand this. Pipes are in the wall. You're not gonna find golf balls inside of a wall. Nobody's knocking down the wall to damage pipes." Anything that happens inside of the wall is gonna be due to normal wear and tear. She was not understanding that. Instead of her really thinking about what it was I was saying to her, she was still trying to tell me about normal wear and tear. This wasn't due to normal wear and tear and it's not covered. I was so frustrated with the conversation.

I had an air conditioning issue and AHS dispatched Liberty Heating & Cooling to my house. They did an evaluation, determined that it was the compressor and then they came and did the work. They ordered the compressor, got the work done, and then they tested it and they ran into some problems. They checked and one of the final things that was wrong in the whole thing is that the breaker also needed to be replaced. It was popping. Liberty called AHS. AHS then dispatched, which is part of the same claim, Olde Time Electric. They replaced the breaker and the system works perfectly. Then my air conditioner is fixed. I had to pay for the Freon based on whatever the contractual obligations that AHS had versus what I had. I paid that directly to Liberty Heating & Cooling.

My only issue with AHS right now is that I got a letter in the mail saying that I owe $106.63 for Olde Time Electric as a service fee. I called multiple times and they said not to worry about it. But I am worried about it 'cause I don't want them canceling my policy. They have their group of vendors that they deal with for each individual repair requirements and they have their contracts with them, so great. They provided the person or the number of people or potential vendors. But I have to do the follow up to schedule the appointment so I guess that's on the homeowner to do.

American Home Shield is responsive but there are some follow-up things that I struggle with. I've been with them for years and I can see where there has been cutting cost on some things or rules have changed. But the garbage disposal was disappointing. The plumber said it was jammed hard and I don't know if he submitted what he needed to submit to American Home Shield 'cause I didn't really get any clear resolution. I called him back but he wouldn't fix it. He said American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. Calling the company back, I was put on hold and someone was supposed to get back to me. I called again the following day and it was still hours but nobody answered. I went ahead and got my garbage disposals fixed by somebody else at a cheaper price than the plumber recommended to me.

I went online and submitted the claim, and then Home Shield called me within an hour or so. The contractor was in and out in 30 minutes. It took him longer to drive here than it did to actually fix the AC. Apparently, I was also low on Freon. It's now significantly cooler in here than it was prior to the AC breaking. Everything went smoothly for the most part.

I had a water heater claim with AHS that Super Plumbers came out for and everything went like it's supposed to. The techs were good people. The day I filed a claim, they came and did the job. They looked at the unit and said it wasn't any good. Then, they came out a couple of days later and fixed and replaced it. There was extra stuff that wasn't covered that I had to cover, like the faucet and getting the unit up-to-code, but it wasn't a lot.

I had a ceiling fan in the bedroom that had come detached from the ceiling and it was gonna fall. The contractor came in and they identified the problem real quick. They told me what American Home Shield would cover and what they didn't cover, and they fixed it. They put a new box up there and reattached the fan. We were through in less than an hour. They also had their masks and gloves on. They did an excellent job.

I shoulda had American Home Shield a long time ago. This is what every homeowner needs. To be able to just pick up the phone and call in or to go online and say the issue. They respond in a timely manner. I put the request in for the ceiling fan on a Saturday and I thought I wasn't gonna hear from them until that Monday. But within an hour, they responded and told me who was coming and then gave me the number. Just in case they hadn't contacted me, I had the number to call them. They covered all the bases.

I was noticing that there was water leaking underneath the sink. My daughter said it had been leaking for a while. I called American Home Shield to have someone come out to fix the thing. Someone from Crystal Clear Plumbing came, took care of everything expeditiously, and worked great. He did everything while he was here. Apparently, the pipe that was soldered, when he grabbed it underneath the sink, it kind of deteriorated. It had rusted so badly that it needed to be replaced. But it's working perfectly now. Whenever there's been an issue, American Home Shield always had somebody that could come out within a day or two and take care of the problem. It's been fantastic and I've been very happy with it.

The condenser of the AC wouldn't come on so the fan would just blow warm air. I submitted online my request and then within a half hour, I got the name of the repair company, and then I could contact them directly or they could call me and we schedule a time for them to come out. Comfort Connection came out and repaired the AC. They replaced a part and it worked for about five days. Then I called again and they came out and determined it was the compressor that was bad. However, I'm not gonna go ahead with the repairs at this point because it's going to cost about $1,000 out of pocket to fix the problem because the warranty doesn't cover the Freon.

Also, it’s a 33-year-old system so at this point, it doesn't seem worth it because something else could go wrong and I still have the cost of the warranty plus the $125 deductible each time the contractor comes out. Since I've owned this house for four and a half years, there's always a couple of calls I've made on the air conditioner. This stuff adds up and so I could just probably replace the thing for the same amount. I'm going to wait until the springtime and replace the conditioner altogether. When it comes to air conditioners, AHS is in the same ballpark as the others as far as what they cover so it’s a standard issue. I'm generally pleased.

Sears came out for my air conditioner. Before I had them complete the work, I got an authorization number and they said that everything was covered and they would reimburse me. And I haven't heard anything and I haven't gotten my money back from American Home Shield. Every time I look at the website, it just keeps saying that it's been processed. I have sent them emails, but they're not answering me.

I had to spend money out of my pocket because they said they couldn't find anybody who could fix it. I found somebody within 45 minutes. I finally called AHS and every time I called, I was on hold for over an hour and half the time, it would disconnect me. I was really frustrated. When I got a hold of someone, they didn't know how to tell me how to go about getting somebody else to do it when they weren't finding somebody for me. Finally, I spoke to a supervisor who told me what to do. I followed all the steps. I'm very unhappy. This is very frustrating because I pay a lot of money and I hardly ever have anything done. It just so happen that all of a sudden, my microwave went out at the same time. I did get that fixed, and they did send somebody out here in a reasonable amount of time, but the air conditioning has been a big mess.

Tech Pro has been out three times. They came out again today to get the door open so we can get our clothes out 'cause they've been stuck in there for like a week. There were multiple codes coming up and you couldn't unlock the door. You'd have to unplug it, let it sit for a while, plug it back in then you could open the door and you'd have to restart it so it would drain. He changed out a switch that tells the pump when they're empty and when not empty. But that did not fix it.

What the tech said today was they wanted to order a pump. He's pretty sure that's not gonna fix it and he didn't wanna come back again until they come out with the whole motherboard, but they weren't able to, as of yet, find anybody that would supply them that motherboard. He was great though. He could have probably brought out two of the parts but he was pretty sure when I talked to him that it was the computer itself that was malfunctioning. The pump and the other switches and mechanical parts were all working.

I called American Home Shield a little while ago after Tech Pro left. It was a 30 to 40 minute wait so I gave them a callback number. They're supposed to call me back. We're going on about a month without a washer. At this point, I was kinda hoping they would have ordered me a new washer by now. This experience hasn't gone really well but usually, American Home Shield is pretty good. This is the second time that we've used them and had filed a claim. We did it on our air conditioner twice for two different units.

This experience that I had with Tech Pro was great because they called me back within the same day to set up the appointment and they were able to come out within a day or two of me filing the claim. Whereas with the air conditioning, when those units broke, I didn't hear from the air conditioning place for days. I had to call the company and I had to wait for them to call me back. That contractor for American Home Shield wasn't that great because it took so long for them to even get in touch with us. I did not appreciate that. It was hot and we didn't have air conditioning. It was miserable.

The part that allows the ice to fall down into your cup in the refrigerator door and pull that ice down rotating enough. It took a while for the contractor to get the part then get back. But I don't think that's American Home Shield's problem or the problem of the people that fixed it. Once you order a part at this particular time with everything going on, you don't know how long the part's gonna take. It took about three weeks to get it fixed because of having to wait. I was not without ice because I would have to open the refrigerator door, stick my hand down in the ice maker, and pull ice. That was not sanitary but I had to do that to be able to get my ice out. But now it's working fine.

Two years ago, I had to have a new washer as my panel on my clothes washer fried. It took about six weeks to get it finally resolved. They couldn't get the part then they decided what they were gonna do but by the time it was over, it lasted almost six weeks to get anything done. I had to call back the company three or four times for them to make a decision. Either they could get the part or they couldn't and it took a very long time to figure out. They couldn't even get get it anymore. Then they decided they were going to give me a new machine or give me the money toward a new machine.

I finally got my money and was able to go somewhere else to order me a washer but I was burning mad because nobody could ever figure out what they were gonna do or how they were gonna do it. You ought to know within a few days that you can't get the part and once you can't get the part make a decision on what you're gonna do. Two weeks would have been sufficient. I understand they don't want to put down any more money than they have to, but I'm also paying my money in good faith. I was very perturbed with that situation. I kinda got in a heated discussion with one of the guys and said, "I can't wash my clothes. Do I need to bring my clothes to your house to wash them?" I was at the frustration point and nobody was doing anything. American Home Shield has been okay but the time frame to a person that's taking care of a family can be very valuable.

It was when we were having a 105-degree temperature. The second time the contractors came out, I thought that there was a malfunction with the thermostat not working properly. But he said it's all working properly, it’s just that the unit's just not big enough. AHS's response is within a reasonable length of time. When we purchased this home, American Home Shield was part of the purchase agreement. Upon the first warm spell this summer, we decided to try out the air conditioning system. It was blowing just warm air. Obviously something was wrong. It wasn't tested fully during the home inspection because that was during the wintertime. We have the home warranty so we decided to go through the process and put a claim in.

American Home Shield gets to choose who the service provider is. They sent out one contractor who assessed a faulty compressor. But that contractor said they could not do the repair work for American Home Shield so another contractor had to be assigned and that was NW Sundance. They came out and diagnosed a similar problem which is a faulty compressor and possibly some other electrical issues. American Home Shield gives you a dashboard on their website that tells you the status of the claim, and they listed it as completed. I sent in a message saying my AC still does not work. It’s only diagnosed but it hasn't been completed.

It's a $500 one year home warranty policy and they're in the insurance business. They're not gonna make any money off this deal. They're gonna drag it out, and they're gonna use the cheapest parts as possible. I understand the business side of it but there's been very poor communication as to what really the options are. They sent me an email after I gave them a bad review from their website and said this claim has limitations. But I had to call them to find out what those limitations were. I called them this week and the first person they put me through was a young person who was clearly not that experienced. He pointed me to a phrase in the contract in basic modification.

They're saying that the system now has to be modified and that modifications are not covered. I wanted to know specifically then what were the limitations and what are the modifications they're referring to. This person couldn't tell me. After going back and forth and doing some checking, they were telling me I needed to call NW Sundance. I said, “Obviously, you are the ones who contracted Sundance and all the communication so far has been going through you. So clearly, you know something. I think you should contact them and tell me what's going on.” They transferred me to a salesperson but that salesperson gave me the runaround. Finally, they put me to a customer service person who finally told me what the situation was and this was after two hours of waiting and talking.

I finally got the detail of what these modifications were. I asked them to send me that information. They said it's going to take 21 days for them to mail it to me. I said, “We're talking about it right now. Can you just email it to me?” They said they can't do that. Their department is not allowed to. I said, “Let me get a pen and paper then. I'll write down exactly what you can tell me over the phone.” They started doing that and eventually, we were going back and forth. I said, “If you're telling me I need to get all these modifications, then I wanna get my own contractor out here to make an assessment and also to compare to your assessment. If you're telling me this is all gonna be out-of-pocket expense, I wanna be sure what I'm paying for here.” Finally after that, they said they could do a cash out offer. I told them I wanted to go that direction so now, they're gonna have their cash out department call me.

The process is still moving forward. It's been a long process and there has been no resolution. For this particular situation, it's completely unsatisfactory. The home warranty insurance sort of deal is kind of a scam. I talked to both service contractors that came out. They said they don't really like working with home warranty companies ‘cause it is difficult process. But they said in their experience, American Home Shield is one of the better ones. So, if this is one of the better experiences I'm supposed to be getting, I can only imagine what some of the other fly-by-night operations are like out there.

They had a company out of Nixa, Missouri, which is south of Springfield. It's an hour and 45 minutes from here. It just seems like they could have found someone closer. The company that they hired wanted to charge us almost $1,500 for extras on what they did to our air conditioning system and all they did was replace the air handler. We're not sure if it's really fixed or not. So we had to pay $480. After last year when they came out, we had to put $300 worth of Freon in.

I submitted the claim online. It was over 48 hours before they responded to me. After several days, they sent me an email saying that they disallowed part of the claim because the company that they had hired to come and fix it had all these additional charges for removal of the old unit. I couldn't get a response from American Home Shield about what they were actually paying for. When I called American Home Shield, the woman that I spoke with was extremely rude. Very rude. She wasn't helpful. She wouldn't give me any information.

We had contractors out last year for the AC unit and all they did was replace Freon that was leaking then. We obviously had to have them back out this year. Then they tried to charge us again for more Freon. It was a completely different air handling unit, so it had to be a different kind of Freon. We've also had a claim on my Samsung washer. Come to find out, if I had just called the company that they sent out, a Joplin, Missouri company, it would have been a $55 service call. I pay 49.99 a month to American Home Shield for the service and I don't know that it's worth what we're getting.

We're contemplating right now. Our son and daughter-in-law have it and they've been very happy. They had a heating unit go out. AHS completely replaced their HVAC. They just paid the $100 service call and had no additional charges. They live in Lamar, Missouri, which is north of where we live and they had a company that was local to them that came and did all their repair work. They weren't charged for Freon or anything. All they paid was the $100. So I don't understand why we had all these additional charges and just had the air handler replaced. They didn't replace our entire unit.

So they switched me to another company and the other company wasn’t open. Initially, I lost the original appointment which was gonna be Monday. But I eventually was able to get that back. That was the only good part of it all. But there was a lot of problems getting through and reaching AHS. It was a mediocre experience.

I’ve had American Home Shield off and on. This time, I’ve had them two years. I do not have any difficulty with submitting claims but at times, I know that there are places closer. I have always wondered why they have such faraway places for a service. I believe in using local.

They had to order a new motor with a fan blade. The initial visit was on Friday and they came back the following Monday with the part and fixed our appliance. The timeframe was no inconvenience at all. It was very professional and everything was great. The technician was also wearing a mask. We had American Home Shield before in our previous house and we also called them on a plumbing issue. They got both issues fixed. It's great. Everything regarding the claim process is very simple. Filing a claim seems pretty simple, straightforward, and efficient. We do it online, then follow up with the contractor. One of the things that are positive about the experience is the contractor answers the phone, they're responsive, and usually able to get out within the allotted 24 to 48 hours. It seems like AHS picks a high standard for their contractors and we haven't had any negative experiences with two or three of them that we've worked with.

The deductible is a little higher than the other folks, but it's well worth it because the customer satisfaction is so much better and the quality of the work seems to be greater. In other words, you get what you pay for. There was one of the plumbers from another home warranty that upsold us and added things that we didn’t need. But these contractors that we worked with from AHS have a good knowledge of what they're working on, and what they need and what they don't need. We've had a pretty good rapport. One case, the guy fixed the thing on the spot without needing a part. We're extremely satisfied. We're very happy with our recent plumbing claim although sometimes there’s a part that needs backorder. We actually have three policies now after we test drove the service. We added a couple of other properties.

When I called them, the response was he would love to come but he doesn't get paid his weekend hours. But he came on a Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Right away, he knew what was wrong and fixed it.

Instead of calling, doing claims with American Home Shield online was better. The response was quicker than making a call. It was pretty tedious and very challenging because when the claim was submitted on the phone and calls from outside, they do not understand our system here and how it works. The first claim, I did them online. I was amazed. So far, my experience has been good beside a lot of hoops you have to go through like my stove. They have responsible contractors. We had a gas leak so the plumbers fixed it but we had another claim and we couldn’t even understand the person that we were supposed to be talking to. He was in Puerto Rico and he did not even have access to the claim. He was very nice but he was not able to respond to our issues at all because he couldn't access the information. AHS is in a business and they would answer your claim but it would be on the cheapest side possible. They are better than average but they’re not great.

We some time ago had a previous claim and I couldn't get in touch with AHS at all. I tried calling as well as going online and it wouldn't go through. I tried the online chat and you couldn't even get that up. I hope they've improved that because otherwise, they wouldn't be in business long. I tried from Tuesday to Friday and it was just impossible to get any answer to anything because they didn't even say they'd call you back. They'd say the wait time is one hour and 15 minutes.

I had friends that had AHS and they were very happy with it. I got AHS because things break and they're very expensive. It pays in the long run to have a warranty. I put in a request online recently with AHS and the website is good. They sent me an email with a date and time and asked me if that was okay. So it went fine. A guy came out and looked at it. He ordered a burner or the head but then they sent me the wrong one. When I called GE, I thought he'd just switch it out. But then they told me they didn't make the burner anymore. So I called American Home Shield and talked to somebody and he was gonna get back to me. He called GE. When he called back, they were closed. "We could go Monday." So he said he'd call me on Tuesday but I never got a call so I called Wednesday. I got a 60-minute wait.

Then Friday, I called and got no help from them. I called Monday, and same thing, 60 minutes I called, I picked up and somebody got disconnected. So I called them yesterday. Apparently, they called GE and supposedly, somebody is gonna call me shortly or sometime soon with the information on the part. It's been a mess for a week and a half. But this is the first time I've had any problems with American Home Shield. I used them three times and they've always been pretty good. Mess-ups happen once in a while so I'm not really that upset about it yet.

The top of my stove started with a little crack and then it exploded basically there. The crack got worse and worse. AHS sent someone out and the guy just took pictures. Two days later, I followed up with AHS to find out what's going to be the next step. They said they're going to replace the stovetop. Then I told them that I was also experiencing some issues with my refrigerator as the freezer would not open up. It was just basically hard and not moving. They said they're gonna send someone out. The person who came out did the same thing. He took pictures and said he couldn't find the manufacturer number so he left.

I called again two days later to see when would someone come and fix the stove and what was gonna happen pertaining to the refrigerator. I was told that my stove was not going to be fixed because it looked like someone dropped something there and that was what caused the crack. I said that nothing fell on the stove. For something to have fallen for it to crack, it would have to be like a piece of iron. I didn't have anything iron over my stove to fall on there. It was just some wear and tear. Now, with everyone being home, I know I'm cooking even more than I used to cook before. They refused to fix it. Then I asked about the refrigerator. They said they couldn't do anything because the person wasn't able to find the manufacturer's number to go ahead and order the parts that's needed for the stove.

At that point, I told them that with over 10 years that I've been with AHS, I've never had anything broken. Everything has been fine. The one time I need things fixed in my home, I was having a hard time. They got me someone on the phone and I told him to cancel my policy. He said he would send someone else out to come and check the stove as well as the refrigerator. They sent another gentleman from Sears. When he came, he said that it was simple, there was nothing that fell on the stove and that it was just from wear and tear, as what I was saying. He called and he ordered the parts and fixed the stove. He told me that the gentleman who came out before is pretty new that was why maybe he made a statement like that.

They sent someone else out who pulled the refrigerator out from the space it was in because the manufacturing number was on the back. He fixed the refrigerator. There was nothing wrong with the bottom of it. He told me that I wasn't closing it tightly enough and that's what caused it. It wasn't defrosting and that's why I wasn't able to get it to open. Since he came out, my refrigerator is fine.

What I liked in the past was if there was anything going on, I could get my own person and they would just reimburse that person. Now, I have to use whomever they send and these people that they're sending don't typically know what they're doing. I don't know if I will be staying with American Home Shield because I don't wanna have to deal with the stress of having to go back and forth when something in my home needs to be fixed. Because one thing, they have direct deposit out of my account. They never had an issue getting my payment. Why is this a problem when I need something to be fixed?

I would never recommend American Home Shield to anyone because no one I know had a great experience with them. My mom and aunt were with them. My aunt just canceled her policy because she had an issue with her AC and they wouldn't fix it. My neighbor right across the street experienced the same thing with them and canceled her policy as well. I stay with them because I've just been with them for so long. The money's been taken out of my account. If I was sitting down, writing a check every month, I would never use them.

I've had a couple of things with Home Shield and one of them was a claim on a dishwasher, which magically started to work all by itself again. But when I submitted the claim, Home Shield gave me a vendor that would handle it. The vendor apparently doesn't work on that type of dishwasher and didn't contact me about it. I've been waiting for a week to get the dishwasher issue handled. I called American Home Shield. They said, “Oh, well that company apparently doesn't handle the type of dishwasher that you have.” I said, “Well, would have been nice if you reached out to me and let me know.” On the other hand, when the garbage disposal didn't work, Home Shield sent A & S out. They then came and put in a garbage disposal. It was straightforward.

Our water heater was busted and we had to replace it. The website was pretty simple. Once I ordered the service, I got an email with the contractors and called them immediately. I had a busted water system and I didn't wanna wait on anybody to call. It took a few days for Siris Plumbing to get out here but the service was good. They replaced the whole water heater. Everything has been perfect since and it has helped by providing hot water. It was easy to claim and get it fixed with American Home Shield.

It was in the high 80’s and for weeks, my dog, two puppies and I were suffering greatly due to the heat. I turned on the AC and it wouldn’t start. The guy who came was very efficient, knew what the problem was right away and he fixed it. He told me that in 2002, they replaced the air conditioner fan that's out on the patio and that Orange County has a problem with their air conditioners. The builders in Orange County underestimated the cooling process by 18 to 20 degrees, which is quite a lot. So, I've had to adjust going down further to be able to have the air conditioner kick on to cool the condo down.

The owner of the first air conditioner company who came out was a jerk. I would never wanna see any customers have him in their house. The kid came to my door and I let him in and showed him to the patio. I let him outside in the patio and he starts unscrewing the outside part of the unit to be able to see why it won't start. As he was doing that, he said I needed a condenser and maybe Freon. I said okay and he starts putting the condenser on. All of a sudden, somebody came busting through my front door unannounced. He didn't ring the doorbell, didn't knock, and came walking in like he owns the place. The man went to the back patio door and I was looking at him in disbelief. I asked who he was and he said he was the owner. I asked if he normally just busts into somebody's home unannounced without ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door. I couldn't believe his attitude.

The man told the kid to put everything back together and that they were not fixing my air conditioning. I asked what the matter was. The kid was in disbelief and he was shaking his head. I asked why the man why he was doing that and he said that I have all these plants out here. I was suffocating and not letting the unit breathe. I said that all those plants were where they were. There was nothing moved. The only thing that got moved was the plant right there where the guy could get between the plant and the air conditioner. The air conditioner is sitting on a block so it can't go anywhere else and I can't put plants up next to it because it's sitting on that block. The plants do not obstruct anything. They're not around it. There are plants to the side of it, but there's a 3-foot space between the plant and the block that the unit sits on. So it's not being suffocated. It has air space all around it.

The man was totally out there and he had literally lost it. I told him to get out of my house and he didn't like that. He said he was calling the home warranty and telling them that I caused the problem and I have all those plants. I called AHS right away. I let them know what the problem was and told them not to use them and send them out to other customers because this guy was on some kind of substance. It was not booze but he was on something. He had sunglasses on inside my condo which is already dark. The kid who was originally gonna fix the air conditioner apologized and said that he didn’t understand what was wrong with him. He said that he has never done this before, at least on his jobs. I said that he scared the bejeebers out of me because he just busted in through my front door and didn't ring the doorbell.

The kid was gonna fix the air conditioner. He had everything apart to be able to put the condenser on and then check it. He would have been done. The guy made him put everything back together, take the condenser off and have him leave. The kid was so shook up that he forgot his thermometer or some kind of a reader that you stick in the vent inside the house. He walked off without all of his equipment. I complained about that claim three different times to AHS because I was asked three different times about it after the initial call by me.

I'm technology-challenged, so I prefer to talk to somebody but American Home Shield prefers you to do the claim online. When I tried to call this time, I never could get through so I resorted to the online platform. I couldn't elaborate on what the issue was though. I was trying to explain that I have an air conditioning unit in my attic and somewhere up there, I now have a water stain on my ceiling. The issue is hard to explain when you just get to click a button.

I had them check my air conditioning unit, but when the tech came out and went up there, he couldn't find anything. He saw some condensation on a pipe and he moved a pan over but he didn't do anything else. He said the air conditioning was fine. I've also had a roofer check the leak, and they said the roof was fine as well. The stain is still there though. Part of it still looks wet and it hasn't changed any since I called American Home Shield. Other than that, the claim went smoothly.

The young man they sent out was very nice and he did the job. I also liked it that they sent somebody who was very knowledgeable. He stayed at least six feet away from us and he told us what he was gonna be doing. We let him do his thing and that way, we were all safe. The coils were dirty and he got under there and cleaned them. He even advised us how to keep it from happening again. The job didn't take too long and the unit started working. I felt comfortable with him being in the house as well, so that was a good thing.

They do not want to honor their contract. My contract started after a month waiting period on August 11. On August 13th, my AC stop working. They sent a technician from World Class AC, INC. After seeing it. He asked me when it broke. I told him that on August 13th my AC stopped working. He said that my policy is too new, and they are not going to cover it.

I work in insurance and that a person is not cover because of a policy is too new is unheard of. I had a second technician that explained that the compressor is bad. American Home Shield denied the claim and still they want to charge me $200. From their contract: "2. Coverage under this contract includes normal wear and tear malfunctions during the contract term (as defined in Section B). Coverage under this contract also includes malfunctions of covered items which occur during the contract term resulting from the following situations prior to and during the contract term:"

They called my situation a preexisting condition due to, by their contract: "A simple mechanical test is defined as turning the item on and off to ensure that it is operational." In other words. They do not want to cover it and is a preexisting condition because by the simple mechanical test. Umm, isn’t something supposed not to be working at the time I call a technician because something is not working? After all, that is the reason I call them, and I am paying them. That means that every time someone call them because an appliance is not working. They can say is preexisting because it is not working at the time the technician comes. So, when something break. They would not fix it because is broken. So, they can deny every single claim to anyone.

Here is Part d of their contract. "d. Undetectable pre-existing conditions which are defects or mechanical failures that could not have been detected by a visual inspection and/or simple mechanical test. A visual inspection of the covered item verifies that it appears structurally intact and without damage or missing parts that would indicate inoperability. A simple mechanical test is defined as turning the item on and off to ensure that it is operational. While turned on, the item should operate without causing damage, irregular sounds, smoke, or other abnormal outcomes. When completing an American Home Shield (AHS) approved repair or replacement, AHS will pay the cost to:"

So be aware. We can only use American Home Shield on things that work perfectly and do need any repair. Very Scammy... Very scammy. Pretty much just say in the contract. "We will take your money, but we can at our discretion denied all claims at any time." That is why the technician was saying because I had only just started my policy. I should not expect them to cover something.

I have used and recommended AHS for many years. Unfortunately, my opinion has totally changed regarding this company. I am constantly receiving calls from the collections department about a past due balance on my account. I have asked to have the account investigated for validity. With each collections call I explain there are two accounts in my name for the exact same address, of which that account is a duplicate and should have been cancelled and all prior auto-pay transactions should be refunded to me.

Earlier this year a customer service representative told me that she would correct the error and forward my refund. A month later, instead of a refund, they took another auto-pay from my account. I called again to request account closing and a full refund. Again, I was told the error would be corrected and my money would be refunded. When I checked online, the account had not been cancelled. I tried to cancel the auto-pay, but was unable to do so. Therefore, I updated the payment method to a prepaid card with no money on it. I figured this would at least stop them from taking more of my money.

Next, I started receiving emails requesting updating my payment method. When I did not update my payment method, the collection calls began. No matter how much I explained the fact that they owed me and the account was a duplicate, it fell on deaf ears. In fact, the woman continued to talk over me while I was trying to explain. I told her that I did not owe and asked her to look into the matter. She said that was not her job and I could talk to customer care about the issue. She just wanted to know when I was going to pay the amount owed. I was transferred to the customer care line that had over a 90 minute wait time for an answer. I hung up and tried many time after to reach customer service. Every call has over a one hour wait.

Collections continue to call me and no one that I talk to will investigate the matter. They only want to collect the balance on the account. Furthermore, I have not even used either of the policies that they have in my name, although AHS continues to charge me for both accounts. This is very stressful for me, especially in these times. I am going to check my credit report because I do not trust them. I thought I would endure this situation from a company that I trusted for so many years and recommended to so many friends and family members. Of course, this review does not reflect the customer service received from service technicians. I have always received great service when needed. I just want to have this issue resolved with a refund and an end to the harassing collection calls regarding the duplicate account.

We always get our air conditioning units checked at the beginning of the summer. We call AHS trusting they would send reliable people. Evidently there was a leak in our unit in the attic. The guy just wrapped a Towel around the leak. A month later we called AHS to come out and check. The new person told us what the last company did. In the meantime water was leaking down our walls and ruined our carpet. This company wanted to charge us $26000 for two new units. We called AHS and asked for a supervisor to return our call. That never happened. In the meantime it is 100 degrees outside.

We found a reputable contractor with a higher rating than 1 who could put units in at 8000 less. AHS never called back. Now they are saying since I took it upon myself they will not refund my money. They send a low rate contactor out, send another contractor that wanted to charge a lot more money, waited online to speak with some for 50 minutes to be told it was my problem. We have been with AHS for so many years to be treated this way. Very disappointed to say the least.

Submitting claims to American Hoe Shield has been pretty easy. The capacitor of my AC went out in the middle of summer and I submitted a claim. When I called their contractor Walker Air Conditioning I found that they didn't know that they should call me within 24 hours. That had me a little concerned. Immediately though, Walker Air Conditioning called me and got somebody out to my location. AHS reacted pretty quickly but that was because I called Walker immediately. AHS should make their claims a little faster. We're in Texas and our air conditioner runs 10 months a year. If we have an air conditioner go out, it's a major catastrophe.

I have small kids and when the AC went out, I was already thinking of a contingency plan. We were gonna have to stay in a hotel because our house got up to 95 degrees. The good thing was the repair got done at 9 o'clock. It took a couple of hours to get the temperature back down to 78 and everybody was good. It was an eye-opener but other than that, everything went well. AHS handled what they needed to handle.

Quality Air has been coming to my place. Quality Air Experts came to the property and they were pretty prompt. They usually help us. But the only problem I had was that the condenser had to be changed and they asked me to pay 700 bucks. That should have been covered by American Home Shield. Then the AC wasn't working so they came back again after seven days. There was a leak that should have been fixed in the first place. The coil was not working in the first place. But they were charging me 850 for the coil. They placed the order but they said that unless I paid, they would not change it. We pay a membership fee every month for the warranty and we have to pay the deductible when the plumber or AC guy comes in. Then they come in and say that things are not working and they are not covered so I have to pay more. So, at this point, I don't even know I should keep Home Shield.

I had a similar issue with my tenant on another rental property I had. This was four months ago. At first, AHS gave me United Temp. They told me the problem and asked me to call AHS. I called AHS and they said that since Cool Factory came and fixed our AC, it was under a one. year warranty so they should come back and fix it. Cool Factory refused to come because they would not pick up the phone. Then I called American Home Shield multiple times, so I just gave up. I called AHS back but they kept making me go around in circles for almost 15 days. I went to Walmart and bought some portable AC. Obviously, the bill was through the roof. I paid 600 bucks to install the window AC.

I should be able to use American Home Shield for my repairs. But then I had to call somebody else and I had to spend money out of pocket, which pretty much came to the same thing or less. So I dropped them because it was a rental property. I just used it one time in one year, and I paid them 60 every month and I paid 150 for the guy to come in and look at the issue and they not fixing it. I was not very happy.

American Home Shield is not a good company. They are such a bad company to work with. They can promise you sun and the moon, but when I need them, they don't help me. And this is a prime example, Cool Factory. Cool Factory did not even return my phone calls. I had them call. AHS was trying to call them and trying to send them emails out but there was no response. Every time, AHS has an agent sweet-talk to me. There is always an Asian lady who speaks to me. They're very nice but I've not had a single moment where I could find somebody who can speak clear English. They'll go through the entire problem list and say that somebody will call me back. Then two days go by and nobody calls.

He ordered the part that he needed and came back when he said he would and got everything fixed. We thought the fan was messed up on the microwave. But a day before he was scheduled to come back here, it started working again.

Instead of having to take the thing down out of the wall and do all this, he said he would hang on to the part and if I needed him, just give him a call and he’d come to take care of it. But it's been working fine and everything else was fine. The contractor was very efficient and very professional. He was quick too. He didn't drag it out. The first time SAP came out to fix my garbage disposal, the gentleman didn't fix it correctly and he wasn't as neat as I thought he should have been. I'm over 70 years old and I’m trying to be careful. When he left, I turned the faucet on and it was leaking from the pipe. And he put a new one on. I called right after he left and asked if he could come right back to tighten both of the screws. The clerk said they would not come out for that and that it’s something different. They said they don’t fix stoppages and I have to pay another fee. She was rude. I said I pay Home Shield every month, they take the money out, and I haven’t had any trouble with them. It needed to be rectified. I’ve been waiting for days.

I called Home Shield and I explained to the young lady the attitude of that other young lady. She asked me to wait and hold on. She said they would fix it and asked if it was the same problem. I said it’s not a different issue. The tech didn’t fix the pipe and water went all the way back into my dishwasher. She told me to hold on again and when she came back, she told me they’re gonna come out and fix it for no charge. I told her to not send those people from SAP out to my home ever again. The second person they sent out was so nice. He put his paper shoes on to come into the house. He tightened up the pipe and that was all that needed to be done. The water from the dishwasher came out. He apologized for the inconvenience I had. I haven’t had any more trouble with it.

That was my first time having a problem. If I had to offer a suggestion, it would be to make sure that the person's attitude is okay when they are recommending a vendor to a client's home. Other than that, they've sent Royal Flush to fix my AC and they are simply beautiful. They’ve been back in my home and I've had no problem. I’ve been very satisfied with Home Shield's service.

He just installed everything and did very well too. Definitely a great experience with him. He's gonna be doing our furnace next because our furnace wouldn't even work right now. This is the first time we've ever had AHS so it's a month and a half now that we've had them. Luckily, when we moved in, we had AHS as our home warranty, which saved us a lot of money which I'm very thankful for.

It was just the air conditioners were back-ordered and it was just hard and we didn't have air conditioning during those hot weeks. But now, everything was good with AHS. They were very prompt in communicating, especially for out of pocket costs. They called and said the unit was covered but there are some things that are not, and they listed them for me. So instead of going in blind for cost-wise, they were very quick to say something.

The compressor went out on the AC unit in the middle of the night. When we called American Home Shield, they said it was gonna take two days for the contractor to get out here. It's 100 and something degrees in Florida. Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating got here and it took them 15 minutes to do the job and they were gone. They did fine. That was a $1,000 fix. I just spent $75. It's nice to have the warranty when you don't have that extra money. I’d recommended American Home Shield to everybody, especially to young couples. It's peace of mind. I like American Home Shield.

The guy from the first company that American Home Shield sent told me he would have to get parts and he left. I got a message from American Home Shield that it was closed. So, I called him to check the status and the guy at that company said it was from us closing our freezer door too hard and something broke. So, I told him, “That's impossible.” They sent someone else out, which was Integrity, and their person looked at the issue and fixed it. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy and pretty simple. If I’ve had one issue with the other company, I haven't had any other issues with American Home Shield. They just need to change the vetting of some of their companies. I've told a lot of people that they should get American Home Shield.

Everything was excellent with Southern Air Conditioning. They were prompt, on time and very professional. They kept me abreast of when they arrived and when they did the job and completed it. They wore masks and everything safety. They did the right thing. Home Shield is the best too. I always use Home Shield. My real estate agent from Carolina One recommended them and ever since I had them, I had no problem. Everything worked out great.

Home Shield does the right thing. When we do use them, it's gotta be an extreme emergency and something that they cover. I call them, I get a date and it's taken care of. Some people procrastinate and take their time until something happens. I'm letting them know, "No. Call Home Shield. Pick this program up beneath your belt. It's one of the best things that's going on." If you want a worry-free relationship to get things done, you might want to go with them. There are other companies out there. But to me, they are not producing like Home Shield. Their price may be $2 more, but that's okay. The service I get out of Home Shield, I can tell somebody I experienced it and don't have that problem. I find that with all the properties I buy, I always get this. I have three properties, and each one had Home Shield, and that was one of the best things that happened. I plan on keeping them for a long period of time. They're highly recommended.

We had an issue with having a lot of ice and we were not able to remove them and water was leaking from the bottom of the refrigerator. I called the AHS service number. Everything from A to Z was great with the representative. She asked me if I'm available two days from that day and told me the available hours on that day, and I picked one. She also said that I would get called by sub-vendors. Then All City Appliance came out. The guy was great and knowledgeable. He told me what was wrong and what parts needed to be replaced. He made it very quickly and it was fixed.

It was very annoying to have to dry the water that was leaking from the refrigerator every day. We had to watch out because it could hurt the wood underneath. We always had to keep our eye on it. We are so relaxed now. The ice in the refrigerator was taking too much space and we had a lot of space in the freezer. Now, we have more space and with no icing issue. We are able to remove whatever we want to right now. We feel much better.

It worked for maybe four days, and then after that, I noticed I would have to go punch on the keypad on the thermostat itself. I would have to go mess with it to get it to kick on again. So then, one day, finally, I started messing with it and it wouldn't turn on again. I just refiled the claim to have them come right back out. The same guy showed up and it's been working ever since. Before that, there were little things that we had done. But mostly, it was for the air conditioning unit because we had a very old one, and then they replaced it. To make a claim to AHS, all we do is call them and tell them what we need. They call us back within less than an hour, and then they'll say, "Okay, we found somebody who's gonna be calling you so you could get your unit fixed." They're very concerned about our problems and they try to get that fixed right away.

We've had a couple of claims with Home Shield and generally speaking, the've been very good. There was a claim though that was confusing and we're still waiting on that. In some cases, their contractor isn't really available when they've identified them which is a problem. We have a specific kind of appliance, a microwave convection oven that is made by Bosch. They gave us a contractor and that company only has one person who works on Bosch items. So, we've had to wait four weeks for an appointment.

Regardless, submitting claims to American Home Shield has been very easy. Recently, I got notice from them asking if we wanted to house our house rekeyed. It would be a $75 charge and I told them "Yes". AHS identified who the contractor would be and I called that company to schedule the service. I had to change the date once and the person whom I spoke with was very accommodating. We rescheduled and he kept me informed. The tech came when he said the tech would. It was great.

One of the springs on the garage door opener was broken. It was on the bar that goes across the top and the tech replaced it. Then I asked him how much longer the other spring was gonna have before it went out. He said that sometimes, they could go a long time but sometimes, they could break pretty quick. So I had him also replaced the other one and I paid for that. He looked at a couple of other things that needed to be fixed and he fixed those also. So it was a really good experience on that because I got a lot of things fixed that I didn't even realize were wrong. He did a very thorough job of getting me fixed back up. It was really good.

My washing machine was acting up and the tech got under there and determined the issue. He ordered the parts and then he came back yesterday and got it fixed. So we're in good shape with the washing machine too. So far, the warranty has been great to pay off things that went wrong. I've had them out here several times. It's the first time I've ever had a home warranty on the house I've owned. It proved to be very fruitful and very helpful this year on this older house that I bought. They fixed everything I asked them to fix. But I didn't realize when I had it that you have to pay $75 every time you call in to get a service call. So I spent a little bit of money. But I also saved a lot of money by getting all these things fixed. I like the fact that they send an email or a text message with the guy's picture on it, showing me who's coming in and about what time they're gonna be here. That was helpful.

But the HVAC company that AHS sent out was trying to get money out of me. They came to my house and told me that I had to pay. They didn't know the dollar amount. They were between $700 and $900 to fix it. I told the tech that it was coming under my warranty. He said that I was gonna have to come out of pocket 1,500.

They tried to get me to buy a whole new system for $10,000 and told me I could pay on it monthly instead of trying to fix it. My AC was still blowing air at my house but he cut it off completely. This was during the month of July and I have a newborn baby that lives in my house. I didn't appreciate that. AHS said it wasn't covered in my warranty. I wound up coming out of my pocket $2,000 and buying another coil for my AC. Besides the HVAC, everything else I needed done in my house has been perfect.

One time, Kelly Brothers Electric came out and assessed the problem. It was a faulty outlet that was installed, and they were able to trace it down. They were in and out, and they were professional. That was done when my wife was there, but I know they fixed the problem. Also, my wife is a public health officer and she had nothing but good things to say. On another occasion, I had issues with a contractor where the work that was done had to be redone later on. A wire was not secured and it was hitting on the fan of the air conditioner. I was able to take the fan off and resecure the wire. That should have been originally done with the guy, but it was done quickly and I was able to resolve it myself.

Someone gets back with me right away and the coverage has been great. There hasn't been any discrepancies with anything. When I put in the service order for my AC, I had a choice to pick one of the two companies. There was Total Air Care who had come out to my house before and I had been pleased. Then there was another company that came out last year, too. But I picked Total Air Care just because it was such great service when I used them.

Every precaution for Covid was taken when Total Air Care came. When I answered the door, the technician wasn't up on my door and he stepped back. He also wore a mask when he was in my home. The technician that had come out left his ladder at my house. I told them that I put it on the porch. Then when the tech came back to pick it up, he actually followed up with me to be sure everything was still running correctly and if there was anything while he was still there. He was very nice and professional.

The plumber did a wonderful job. He came out to do the kitchen faucet. He also did both of my toilets and my master bedroom shower. I had to recall one of the toilets because it was shooting water out of the side. Had I thought of lifting the tank, I would've realized that one of the little pipes came undone and it was squirting water every time we would flush. It was not the fault of the plumber but he came out and put the little thing back.

Then we ended up having to have him over a total of three times for the master shower because it continuously kept leaking. When he came the first time, he changed what he called the cartridge which is the assembly that goes inside the handle and it kept on leaking. It's that type of handle that it's only one and you move it on either side for hot or cold water. He disassembled it and said he may have put it backwards. It still kept leaking. We had him come out the third time. He said sometimes they get faulty ones and to let him change it out. If it wasn't that, we had an even bigger problem. I was hoping this was gonna be it. He said that if changing it out didn't solve it, then we probably were dealing with the situation of calcification that had already ruined it on the inside which would not be insured by American Home Shield. But the second one did the trick so there is no more problem. But because of COVID, it took a while for him to finish.

I've had American Home Shield since 2008 in previous houses. The amount of surveys that they are sending is new for me and I love that. I also love that they are getting feedback. What I'd like is for them to vet the vendors out a little more - maybe look up the reviews before they choose them. In one month, I had three items go back and it was pricey because it's 75 a pop. My garage door, my AC and the plumbing throughout the house went out. Two out of the three were awful experiences. I speak so highly of the plumber because he kinda restored my faith.

The garage door did that thing where something snapped and the whole door came down. It was super scary because if somebody had been there, they would have died. From the get go, the claim went bad. The contractor called me up and started almost shaming me that he couldn't find the house because the numbers to the house were not on the curb which he was correct about and the one that's on the house itself was being slightly covered by the eaves. But I didn't construct the house. I have no control over that. We hadn't even met each other face to face yet and he was already shaming me on the phone so I didn't appreciate that.

He told me it was my coils and it's not covered by American Home Shield. I thought that was odd. How did he know what I have? I could have had the Basic Plan, the Premier Plan, or the Plus Plan. He said for him to go forward, I needed to pay him $293. I went to my computer real quick, looked up the contract (which by the way American Home Shield makes it so easy to do) and there it was black and white. I was covered for everything. I printed it and brought it over to him. He acted as though he was really researching it and reading it carefully.

Then he said I was covered for one coil but I needed to pay him $75 for the second coil. I said, "Why would I do that?" He said, "Because it's going to snap sooner or later." I asked him, "What you're trying to tell me is in the future, that thing's gonna go?" He said, "Yes. So you can either pay me the $75 now, or you can pay me later when it snaps." I thought I won't pay him ever because it won't be him. I'd prefer to pay American Home Shield another $75 and have whoever comes out that's deserving that $75, not him. I said, "Nope. I can't predict the future. Just please change the one only." He did it in a huff and left.

Since then, just like he said, the second one is squeaking. But I don't care. If and when that happens, I'll call and get the second one replaced but the money won't go to him. I was going to give that company a very bad review and call this person's manager and let them know what kind of customer service he gives and how he speaks to people. If that's the way he speaks to people in general, or is it just females, I'm not sure. I called and he's the flippin owner. I did tell American Home Shield how bad that was but I didn't hear anything from them as though it felt like they swept it under the rug.

The second experience was probably worse than the first one. I have a daughter who has breathing issues through the roof so the last thing she needs is to struggle with getting air or hot air. It was very important for me to get somebody out quickly. It was during one of our heat waves that we were having and the AC was doing that little thing where it would work for two hours then it would turn off, it would work, and it would turn off. I have a good friend who fixes ACs, but he doesn't work for American Home Shield any longer. I told him over the phone what it was doing and what it sounded like. He said to have them check the capacitor. The man came over. I said, "My understanding is that it can be the capacitor." He rolls his eyes at me. I don't know, but it meant like, "Oh, man. Now she's either a, telling me what to do or b already knows, or it's not going to work like I'm planning to do here."

He changed the capacitor. Then, he went to turn it back on and said I'd need to give him $623. I asked why and he said I was completely out of freon that's why it was not cooling down and if I kept using it like that, I'm gonna burn the motor then my insurance won't cover me at all. I thought that was odd. He was only here like 10 minutes. How could he know all of this in 10 minutes? I didn't even see him check the machine. I was texting my friend and he said to ask the contractor to give me the pressure reading. I asked him and he said he couldn't do that anymore. He already took the apparatus off. I said, "If I decide that I'm gonna need freon and I ask you guys to come back, how long do I have?" He said, "You have 30 days. But meanwhile, don't use your machine at all because you'll burn it."

He started to leave and I said, "Wait, wait, wait. Wait a minute. Aren't you gonna give me a receipt?" He gave me this look like I had just insulted his mother. He said, "You want a receipt? I have to give you receipt?" I said, "Yes, of course you do. How will I know? How will I have proof of what you did here today?" He practically threw the old piece that he replaced. He said, "Here. Here's your old one." He got really huffy with me. He went to his truck, wrote out this receipt and gave it to me.

I had my friend come over and he checked it. He said there was nothing wrong with my freon. It was my blower motor. He told me to call American Home Shield back, tell them that I want somebody else, explain to them that I had a medical emergency and that I already know what I need. I called American Home Shield, explained what happened with the first guy and asked them not to send me that guy. They gave me an emergency company that came out. They called me at least the very next day and I explained. The lady said, "We're two weeks out because of the heatwave that we're having and because of COVID. You'll need to pay $50 as an emergency fee." I went and did it. It's better than to go to the emergency room with my daughter.

The second guy was so awesome. He made sure that he had the part on his truck before he came out. The guy not only fixed it but he completely made sure that everything was running smooth. I explained my medical need so he double-checked everything. He made it run. He stayed there for like 15 minutes to make sure nothing was going to turn off. It was great experience. I'm an example of a really good experience and two very bad ones and American Home Shield made right on the bad experiences.

Submitting claims has been easy, as long as I go online, but if I try to go over the phone, it's not. I had a problem with an oven a few years back and could not get them on the phone. It was 45 minutes of waiting and the delivery people wouldn't wait any longer and they left. The oven didn't fit the space and then Home Shield tried to charge me for part of that. It was a fiasco. They need to work on answering the phone.

Also, they could improve a little on their service people. There was a pool company that came before and they weren't very professional. They made me wait like four days to even come out and then the person that I had to schedule everything with was rather snotty. But Knock Out Pools who came out more recently was great.

When submitting claims with AHS, I log on to the website and it gives a step-by-step of whatever will happen. Once in a while, when I'm trying to find an issue, it's a little bit hard to navigate through. It was hard to find how to get to submitting a claim for the sewage smell. I had to get to stoppage and found a drop down to see "smell". But overall, it's pretty easy to submit a claim on there.

We were having an issue with the sewage smell in our upstairs bathroom and the kitchen sink wasn't draining because of an issue with our garbage disposal. Blue Ridge Mountain got the garbage disposal fixed. For the bathroom, the first time they came out, the tech said there was some silicon wax ring on the toilet and that was why we were getting a sewage smell in the bathroom. He changed those out but he had to come out a second time because it was still having a smell. My wife was there and he ended up putting canola or vegetable oil down our tub drain to see if that's where the smell is coming from. The next day, the city was out doing smoke testing. We had smoke come into our bathroom upstairs and we called them to let them know about that.

Somebody came back out a couple of weeks later and determined that the issue was whoever had the house before us had the exhaust fan piped into the sewage vent for the house. He said that he would have to get in touch with his boss and they would have to get in touch with Home Shield and let us know how we're gonna proceed from there. It's been about two weeks and I've had no callback from them to follow up. And every so often, I would get this terrible sewage smell in my upstairs bathroom.

Masters Climate and Comfort explained everything, including what needed to be done or what their suggestions were, and what they were gonna do. They also shared how the unit was running and some things that I could do to keep it up and going to avoid service calls, so I felt really comfortable with them. This was the first time that we've used American Home Shield's service, and it really was very simple doing it all online. It went quick too. The only confusion that I had was that I wasn't sure if Masters was gonna reach out to us or if we needed to reach out to Masters. The notice said that they would, but it also said we could reach out to them. It wasn't that big of a deal though. I just called Masters Climate and Comfort and said, “Hey, we're doing this.” and they were like, “Yep, we got all your information.” They called me right back within about 30 minutes, and we got things all set up.

One of the bathrooms was not getting hot water. We could not figure out exactly what was happening there. American Home Shield dispatched the plumber from Matt's Plumbing Services. My boyfriend and our guests were there so we needed to get the hot water there. They all told me that the plumber was very professional and very friendly and that he fixed it right away.

American Home Shield is expensive but it works for me because I'm not very handy. Even though my boyfriend is handy, there are certain things that are handled by professionals. So it makes sense because when something breaks down, you can get the request answered quickly. Then they usually dispatch somebody already pretty quickly. Once in a while, there were issues with how long it was going to take but that was mostly in California when I used to live there. But I never had this issue in Florida. They’ve always been able to dispatch appropriate personnel quite quickly here. But not everything is covered so people need to read and understand what is it exactly that you think you're going to be able to get out of it.

The only problem I'm having with American Home Shield is that I want to reset my password because it's not accepting the original password. But it's not redirecting me in order to reset my password. American Home Shield had Ark-La-Flow Plumbing come out for a service request. They had two guys and they were efficient. One guy was pretty much in training. But the head guy knew what he was doing. They observed and analyzed my problems then they explained everything like the process that it was gonna have to be submitted for further approval by American Home Shield. As soon as they got my information, they contacted me and texted me immediately with the confirmation that they were on the way. When they came back out, they did the work. When the work was finished, I got a confirmation text. They were very well-organized. Everything has been okay and I haven't noticed any problems. I was very pleased with everything.

But I was a little concerned because the techs had to do a cut on my wall but one of them explained why. He told me that in the beginning that they wouldn't be responsible for actually putting the cut they took out back up. He showed me everything and it went well. There was no problem. I placed that cut they took out back where it was. But it hasn't been sealed yet. It wasn't messy, where you can't just place it back and put some putty to fill it back.

I filled out a claim online with American Home Shield. I had to find my new account number because it wasn't connected to the old one. But once I got into my email and figured that out, I went in and went to the sign that connects on how to get the claim done. They give you an option of what you want to do. If it's electric or plumbing, you click plumbing and they give you a list of plumbing things underneath your warranty. You then click that specific one and you send it out. Right after, you just set an appointment with whoever gets the dispatch call. I've had American Home Shield for two years now.

For a recent claim I had where there was a little clog in my kitchen, Mister Plumber was sent out. The technician was wonderful. He was really nice and professional. He didn't give me any bad vibes. He told me what the issue was, unplugged it, and kinda walked me through on what I could do to kinda lighten up the plumbing situation. He told me everything that he was doing as he was doing it. I would definitely call him again if I had any issues. It was great.

American Home Shield has been very quick about getting our claim signed in and getting it set up and everything. I've only had to pay one copay. I just go online and tell them what it is that is messed up and pick from a few choices of what it's doing. If it's not one of those choices, I hit other. They will tell me that they've assigned a contractor and then somebody calls me the next day.

My dryer issue has started in June and it still screams like the banshees of hell living in my dryer every time I turn it on. I got a Doberman Pinscher. I can't run the dryer when she’s in the house ‘cause it hurts her ears so bad. I did laundry at my sister's house for five weeks. Then, the tech finally got it done but before the third load, it was squealing again. They thought they got it fixed. Then they didn't, so I had a callback.

It took about a week and a half and he fixed it at that time. Then that very evening, it started squeaking again. And he told me this whole big thing about what it could be and he talked to a buddy of his. He was gonna order the parts but because of the holiday, it probably wouldn't get there on Monday. It would get there on Tuesday and then I texted him on Wednesday. And he said he would call me at noon after he checked the status, and I haven't heard another word from him. And I got an email stating that my claim had been closed. So I turned it around and reopened it for a revisit for the same thing.

The technician had been out there four times ‘cause he came out and diagnosed it the first time and didn't have a single part with him to fix even though I told him what was wrong with the dryer. So, he had to come out. He listened to it and he knew what it was. Then he ordered a part and it took two weeks to get the parts in. After that, it took him a week to get out there to fix it. So I was waiting on my first appointment, waiting on him to get the orders and get the parts and all that stuff was already five weeks. I was dragging my laundry every week to my sister's house to wash. I’m too old to carry laundry around and I'm very dissatisfied at this point.

I have been on hold with American Home Shield for as long as 45 minutes. They offered a chance to have them call me back so I didn't have to stay on hold. But other than that, it's not bad. It's just the time and not being able to speak to him. But they assigned a person and that person calls you back. They're pretty quick at that. So, it’s not all bad but they still haven't fixed my dryer and this has been going on all summer.

They have to be slid out and they wouldn't do that part. It wasn't very accessible. Also, I had an air conditioning unit go down and they didn't cover the Freon and the change in the disposal which ended up a lot of money. It really just needed a whole new unit and they kept trying to rebuild it. It took them about three times. They got it working. The first time the contractor came out, they found one leak. But there was another leak so they had to come back out. That time, they found the other leak and the AC's working. They were excellent. I've heard horror stories about people having leaks before and someone telling them they had to replace this whole part of the unit and give them $2,500. The only thing that it cost me was 300 for the AC refrigerant that they had to replace 'cause everything leaked out. The whole repair though was taken care of and it was great. It wasn't unreasonable cost either. American Home Shield covered up to 10 pounds of freon and it was $45.

I like American Home Shield. I had Choice Home Warranty before that and the only time I ever had to call them, they came up with a bogus excuse on why they weren't gonna cover the repair. I had paid upfront like $900 for that policy then they were not gonna do it. I asked them to refund me all my money 'cause the first time I had to call them for service, they didn't do anything. They refunded me and I moved to American Home Shield. I've had American Home Shield before and it was my fault 'cause I thought I could pay for three years in advance and it was cheaper. But get the one that actually works, pay it monthly, and be good.

I've recommended my sister to switch from Choice Home Warranty to American Home Shield. She's not had to use it. Her house is only two years old. But you never know when something's gonna break. I told her, "You need to go with American Home Shield because Choice Home Warranty is just going to not take care of you." With American Home Shield, I'm happy with everything. I feel secure that if something breaks, it's gonna be handled and it's gonna be handled fast. I put a claim online and within a day, I had someone here. Whereas at Choice Home Warranty, it took four days for someone to show up and it was ridiculous.

I had an issue with my AC and AHS sent out A & R Complete Service Corp. The techs wore masks and didn't stay in the same room at all. They checked my AC and they said that nothing seemed to be wrong. All they did was reset the switch. Then, my power kept going out even after they reset the switch, so they said it was an electrical issue. So I had to call my home warranty again and pay for that service for an electrician to come out. It turned out that the wire had melted on my air conditioning unit, which was not a covered item. So $700 later, my air conditioning works again because they had to replace the wire. But they said there's still a possibility that the air conditioning unit may still go out.

I've had to call my home warranty for five different times, because I kept thinking it was one problem and it wasn't that so I'm always paying these service fee. Then it would turn out that the melted wire had nothing to do with the home warranty so the $700 was something I wasn't expecting. Now, I'm debating whether I need to renew my policy because if I have to put out that kind of money anyway, and I have only a one bedroom unit, it might be more cost-effective to just pay out of pocket. The people that AHS sent out were fine but the things that I've had done were something so minor, yet cost me the $75. For my last claim, had I known it was an electricity problem from the beginning, I could have saved at least $150.

So, we called AHS to submit a claim and the tech they sent out told us that our pipe was a size where their large auger would probably damage the pipe. He also said that their smaller auger wouldn't clean it out but wouldn't do any damage, and it would potentially get most of what the issue was. He said mostly what he was finding was sludge up against the walls, so it was probably one of those things where it would clog and not clog, and clog and not clog. So ever since we did the small auger cleanout, we haven't had any problems. The tech was also very helpful and he explained things.

The contractors are always real good but submitting the claim with American Home Shield was very difficult. I always call and try to speak with a rep. Every time we try and do things online, it gets screwed up. They apparently assigned the claim to a company up in Redding which is out of the 50-mile radius. The company didn't call me back so after a couple days, I called American Home Shield again. They said that's the company that came up on their screen for them to assign it to. I called the company and they guy said they don't work with American Home Shield anymore. Besides, they are five miles out of the range.

I called American Home Shield back and they told me the company still works with them. I said I wanted switch it to a company that's more local so I could get this done but they refused to switch it. They said, "Not as long as the ticket is open can we switch it." They said that they couldn't do anything until they had gotten a callback from that company saying that they didn't want the job. It ended up taking two weeks and I insisted that they call Cold Snap. I said, "I don't know why you didn't call the company that came out and did the service for us last year. They're in Red Bluff. They're only 15 miles away." I ended up having to call Cold Snap, talked to them about it and asked them to contact American Home Shield to get the process rolling. The next thing I knew, they were saying they were coming out to fix it. They replaced the motor on an AC unit.

The contractors that came for our garage door were awesome. They adjusted the chain, and now, it's working beautifully. I love American Home Shield. I used to love them more before. I have my two houses with American Home Shield for over for 20 years. Then what I found out with the years, these call centers are in the Philippines. When I asked, like I have a problem right now, they would not have a supervisor to put it on the phone for me. They were very straightforward. "No, this is how it is." I had a microwave and it had some of the colors inside lost. I could not talk to a soul. I tried three times calling and see if I could talk to a supervisor. Three times were denied the right for me to talk to a supervisor.

I was talking with this beautiful lady yesterday regarding my AC. I decided to go with the Spanish because I speak Spanish, and I hit nine to talk to somebody in Spanish, and she tried her very best, but all the companies were taken. My appointment is for the 22nd. Last night, thankfully, it cooled down as it always happened in California. I asked if I could bring another contractor but that was denied. So I'm bringing a person today and I'm gonna pay out of pocket because I cannot have my mom go through what she went through. I also had my blood pressure went up as well and it was intense in a bad way. Even though with my dissatisfaction that I feel and the fluctuation more than dissatisfied, I recommended AHS to my girlfriend and she got it. Because I strongly believe in the product, that AHS, if they cannot fix it, they'll replace it. They send somebody and I pay my $100 with no problem.

The dishwasher company came out and tried to replace a motherboard. They told me that the issue now is more of the electric side of the house, because it's not their device. In order to do that, they said they need to call an electrician to come to my house. And then Home Shield scheduled an electrician to come to my house. That person came in, checked my electric outfit at the back, and said that everything was okay. He showed me that all the connections were correct, and at the back of the dishwasher. And from thereon, they told me the electrician side was okay. I called Home Shield, then they scheduled to have the dishwasher team come back and check. Another guy came to my house and verify that it was actually the dishwasher again.

That was almost a month for my dishwasher to be broke. The guy told me he had to schedule a final work, which was supposed to be yesterday. I know there's a family emergency. He told me now it was scheduled for Monday. So, they're coming back on Monday to check that my device is broken and it needs to be replaced. Home Shield sent the electrician just to make sure that the electricity or the plug at the back of the dishwasher is not an issue, and it was not an issue. The contractors were good. The electrician showed me all the stuff.

They sent me a person to replace the part and the part that they were replacing for my dishwasher was not the same part as mine. When I looked at it, I noticed I was missing one button here. My panel has four buttons. She gave me three. But I said, if it works, my wife will be happy and I'm good. But it didn't, so that's why they sent the electrician. So now, they sent another person, the dishwasher team, to verify the work that the other person did. I told them the dishwasher is already broken. I can’t find the parts. I don't know how they found the part.

What is needed from Home Shield is the quick turnaround time. Not like, I call them, they schedule it, then I have to schedule the other company for another three or four days. And then the company comes in, and then finds the part for another week, and another week. Having a quick turnaround time to get things resolved would be great. I like Home Shield. But my wife would be like, “When is this gonna be fixed? Do we need to buy a new one or something?” “No, we paid for the home warranty.” It’s almost how many years. I'm stuck with my home warranty.

Three of them didn't contact me. One did but that was just to get my address straight. But it finally got straightened out and the contractor was good. He had the part with him. He fixed one part but he found there was another part he had to order which was the arm of it inside the washer that sprays the water. He said that it might take two weeks or a month. It depends on whatever's going on the virus. It’s taking everything slower to order. I also had two fans put in. They were supposed to do it at the same time as the dishwasher. They only fixed the washer but overall, everything was good.

I have an 80-gallon hot water heater in my house and that's due to, in part, that I have a large Jacuzzi tub upstairs in our master bedroom. When I signed up for my contract, there were a lot of different stipulations. They were laid out clearly about what AHS would and wouldn't cover for things like that. But when it comes to hot water heaters, they kept insisting that my 80-gallon was a commercial line and that they had no choice but to put in a 50. That was the biggest they could put in. There was nothing stating this in the contract. I kept telling them that's not what I had in my house.

If my air conditioner went up, you wouldn't put a townhouse unit in there, you would put one that fit my house, and that's what I'm dealing with with the hot water heater. It went back and forth and they refused to do anything. They kept saying that the mixing valve was gonna take care of the discrepancy in the 30 gallons that I was missing. But I knew it wouldn't, the plumber from Charles Moon knew it wouldn't. Then there was a small issue where Charles Moon showed up with a 50 and I said that I needed an 80. They said that it was what AHS sent to them. In the 11th hour, I just accepted it because there was nothing else that AHS was gonna do for me. They made it very clear and gave me the runaround on the phone.

So, four weeks later, after I got nowhere with AHS, Charles Moon came back to put that same 50 in, but it had been rolling around in their truck for four weeks out of the box. What they did was they took off some money for the installation, if I needed some extra stuff, an expansion pack and things like that. They were able to take care of me on that end in exchange for me taking up a water heater that was a little beat up. I was happy with Charles Moon. However, I can't take a bath now. If I have hot water in the Jacuzzi tub, it barely fills the jet so it's not really usable the way it was and I'm afraid of that. I was hoping that the guy before me maybe overshot it a little bit with the 80, but turns out, he didn't. So that's where I am with it.

I still have an outstanding thing going on with AHS. Because of all this, I finally got one person who gave a crap and they said they would refund the $100 service charge that I had to take and that someone would be calling me back and no one did. A week later, I called to ask about it. They said that someone would call me back but they never did. I did my homework when I was looking at home warranties and they were the ones to go with and got the best reviews. I told all my friends that I got this home warranty. They said that I'm gonna regret it. I said I won't as I read all the reviews and this is the best one. With my first claim that I made, I dealt with some of this stuff.

I said, “Can you put it in next week?” He said, “No, it’s gonna take a week to come in. I'll be back the last week of the month.” That was when he came and fixed it. But I had called American Home Shield. The gentleman that I spoke with said to me that if it wasn't fixed, that we should give them another call. But he came that morning and fixed it. The gentleman that did the bathroom was excellent. The young man that came and worked on the garage was outstanding too. The AC needed antifreeze so Mister Freeze filled that. There were other things that I don’t really know and my bill came up to $629 on top of the $75 for Home Shield. Then they said that the thermostat wasn’t working correctly. They said that it was an electrical work that needed to be done on the electric box and I had to call an electrician. I called American Home Shield and told them that that was recommended and they put that other work order through Home Shield. They called an electrician like they said and Home Shield sent him over. He said there’s nothing wrong with the electrical box at all. I didn't know what to do so I called Home Shield and told them that. They said the thermostat’s not working because it's electrical and the electrician said there’s nothing wrong with the electricity at all. It was more of the conditioner.

They told me they would return the deposit I had initially put in. But it still doesn't work. Plus I just got an e-mail that I didn't pay one of the service call fees. I've called two or three times already. How can I not pay when they have my credit card? AHS called Mister Freeze again and told them to come back for a second call but I haven’t heard from him again. They never came for a second call so I’m not sure where it stands. The whole process has been about three to four weeks.

Anguelov International came at my request because the first plumber that Home Shield sent didn't do anything. He looked at everything. And then he told me he had to get back to his office, and they would get back to me, which they didn't. I then called Home Shield and asked for another company. The first time I called, Home Shield said they had to talk to the company and find out what their issues were - why they didn't do anything. And then the second time I called, the person was able to give me someone else to come out. I had to call more than once to get the resolution to the issue. Anguelov did all of the work. He just came in and went to work. The tech unstopped my tub. He rodded it out. He examined the toilets that we have seen water coming, and he said none came out. So, we didn't do anything with that. He fixed the leak in my sink downstairs. He was excellent.

I asked Home Shield not to send Aaron Plumbing because I've had a bad experience with them before. But they kept sending them. I would get a call from Aaron, I said, "No. I called back to American Home Shield and say, 'I requested a different plumber. I didn't want Aaron.'" And they called again. When I refused Aaron, at Home Shield, they closed my request. That was a negative, because I kept insisting I didn't want them. And they said, "Well, this is the only one we have available." So, I accepted them. When they came here again, I had the same experience. I didn't like that at all.

Overall, Home Shield pretty much answers my service request. I've had a couple of issues with them. But I find that you speak to one representative and you get one response. And then you speak to another and you get a different response. I have three service contracts with them. At another property, the person came out and they said they couldn't repair the issue. I had someone else come and fixed it. I requested that Home Shield give me my $75 back because their plumber couldn't do the job, but I got it done. And the one person told me, "Well, we don't give money back." I called again a couple of days later because I would not let that go, and that person said, "Oh, yeah. We can give you your money back. We see you didn't get the service." And they did. And I was like, "Well, why was this other person telling me, 'We don't do that?'" It's up and down with them.

We're going to get you an electrician." But then the next day, I got an email that said, "Your case is closed out." I was like, "Oh, no." So I re-sent another request and the owner called me and said, "What's going on?" I said, "I thought it was closed." He said, "You know what, we're right out there anyway. I'm gonna send the crew over. Maybe another set of eyes can look at it and figure it out." But it was the same thing they couldn't figure out either.

So they called American Home Shield back and got me the electrician. The electrician came out, he reconnected to power and then he took care of getting Chesapeake Comfort back, and they came back and they fixed it. Now I have air conditioning. I had a leak in my air conditioning and it ripped through the drywall which is not good for somebody who lives in the Coachella Valley. I called because I figured that kind of a problem would be a more than a $600 deductible. A plumber from Intercity Plumbing came out here. They went up on the roof. That pan was leaking and they did clean that up. My air conditioning is working fine now except for the damage of the drywall.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and they've been very good to me. As long as they send out contractors, I'm okay. But I wasn't happy with one thing. A contractor came for the dishwasher. He looked at it and said to me that I was missing something called an air gap. He did replace my garbage disposal which was leaking but he would not touch the dishwasher unless I had an air gap and that it was something that was done by the people that inspect homes. What's disappointing is I didn't get done what I was supposed to have done. They were coming out here and American Home Shield was charging me the extra $125 for that, that, and that but he refused to do it. I have found out later that a lot of the new ones don't even require the air gap on there. But I loved the guy who came out. He was really good. He looked at my garbage disposal and had no problem replacing it. It took him five minutes to do it. It's not his fault that I didn't get done what I was supposed to.

You can file the claim online which is two seconds. But you call American Home Shield up with a problem and it's a two hour wait. That should be fixed. I like the phone call that says, "We've got your phone number and we will call you back in an hour and a half," 'cause then you know that you're on the roster and you'll be expecting a phone call back. That's a great thing to have. The other day, it was two and a half hours on the phone then they disconnected me. I told them I'm going to the bank and I'm gonna stop the payment on the third $125 because I'm not waiting two and a half hours to have them hang up on me. Two and a half hours is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm gonna call American Home Shield and have them buy me out on the appliances because the replacements were absolutely awful especially when you have a kitchen like mine which is a $35,000 kitchen. I'm still looking at an unfinished kitchen and an unfinished drywall. Those are very important things. But I'm so grateful to have air conditioning. It's 120 degrees outside and they were here immediately. The people that came out were very good. They were there on time, professional and honest.

The dishwasher took four trips and several hours for the technician. They might as well have just replaced the dishwasher for the amount of time and effort it took. They’re spending more on technicians coming out and trying to fix a problem that involves more labor and parts than just giving a new one. Otherwise, everything’s okay. Some cases such as the microwave was a simple fix so it didn't qualify. I’ve been with AHS for many years. I wouldn't have them and wouldn't renew the contract if it weren't beneficial.

They told me that somebody would be calling me from the plumbing and they gave me a number. But I was so frustrated with them. Evidently, they didn't know what they were doing.

AHS still didn't submit the order properly to the person that came from the plumbing services. He still had to call back. The young man that came out was very kind. A piece was up inside the toilet and he pushed that back down. Then he went ahead and put a new piece inside the handle inside the bathtub. There was also a leak under the kitchen sink and he went underneath and did some work on it. Everything's fine. This was my third time using this service from AHS and it was horrible. AHS needs to get proper help and train their people to speak and to take the order properly.

My AC has been working fine since the contractor came. He was covered with a mask when he was here. The only thing is I didn't get any those of what he replaced. He didn't describe exactly what he did to the unit. He put two pounds of Freon in my tank and now I'm concerned I'll probably have a leaking because that's a lot. Other than that, the repair was quick. American Home Shield's service is great. I went to the website and I requested the service from there. It was very easy.

When my air conditioning wasn't working, I notified Home Shield through their 1-800 number. The contractor, Air Doc Heating & Air Conditioning, was then dispatched the next day. When I talked to the young man, he was fully done as I was pulling up. I said, "My neighbor told me it was a compressor." He said, “No, everything's done. It's fixed.” I called back to Home Shield and they told me it would take them 48 to 72 hours to get a report back from the representatives that serviced me. I called Home Shield back to get a printout or explanation as to what the tech did to the AC. I'm happy that it worked. But I would like to have gotten a receipt. All I wanted was an explanation as to what was wrong with my air conditioner in writing. The young lady told me that if they put in the Freon, I would know. If they put that into the air conditioner, she told me that they would credit me for each pound that they put in there.

I'm kinda on the fence with American Home Shield. If I have the time to look for someone else, I might. Usually, there’s so many things to read on what’s covered and what’s not covered. I don't feel confident that everybody actually reads those things. When I have fixes or things that need to be repaired, it’s always like, “We only cover this part of that or these pieces of that." So, it's always a very small portion of the overall repair is covered. This goes for my wife as well because she has American Home Shield in another account for another house.

At one of my houses, it was the AC that went out which was fairly recent from the same one for the plumbing, and only a part was covered. I had to replace the whole AC system, so that was like $5,500 out-of-pocket and maybe $750 of it was covered. Paying all this money, I get a small portion of certain things. Another example would be the garage door repair. The springs weren't covered. And all of our major repairs, one after another, over time I look back and I felt maybe American Home Shield is not the best as far as coverage.

The microwave was not working. The technician from Appliance Tech came and then there was something to replace. He ordered the replacement and then he replaced it. It was fast. The guy was nice, polite, and he wore a mask, so it was good. I'm very happy with the AHS service. It's very convenient. The appointment is always done within the day and the people are timely.

Some of them were better. Usually they give half a day window. Some of them were much shorter like a two-hour window time. We used twice, a contractor during the COVID, since March. One was better prepared for COVID. He said that they were going to wear a mask and they needed distance. The other one wore a mask but he didn't ask if we were sick or if we wore masks. I think that for them, it's good also to check with the client that they are going to be safe. I asked the guy if we would wear masks and if we need to do anything specific. He said no and that he would be wearing it.

The stove wasn't heating and Ukon Appliance Repair handled it extremely well. They came out and replaced a few parts. I've had American Home Shield for about 10 years and I have mixed feelings about them in general. Home Shield is only as good as the people they subcontract. The guy who came and took the part out of our oven said that it had been installed and it was built for a dryer and not an oven. So while I was happy with this experience, it was scary to think that a previously authorized dealer installed a dryer part into an oven.

We had an air conditioning drain pipe break and flood into our basement area. It was pretty easy to submit the claim to American Home Shield and to get somebody to come. But it took them a few days to get here. It was a little disappointing because it was really a mess. We had to turn the air conditioning unit off and it was 90 degrees. Other than that, the contractor was fine. The tech was able to get the work done. At one point, something went wrong and I had to reset the unit. The tech called me back and told me what to do so that was fine.

Since the repair, everything has been working okay. But I was under the impression that American Home Shield would help find someone to help with the damaged flooring. The girl said she would call me back then she said a supervisor would call me back. But no one ever followed up so I’m a little disappointed. But at the same point, it is covered under our regular insurance homeowner's policy so I called on that.

There was a blown fuse that was continuously popping. We filed a claim with AHS and the tech who came out replaced it. Then he showed us the issue with the existing one that was in there and asked us if we wanted to hold on to it. And we told him no. During the service, he had his face mask on and prior to having us sign anything, he wanted to know if we had our own pen so that he wouldn't have to pass the same pen. We were really pleased with him and the way he explained everything to us. And it actually resolved the problem.

So far, we've only used AHS for that and when we were putting in the request for the dishwasher, we kept annotating that it was a fuse that was tripping. Because every time it would run, we would notice that it would flip. So, when we went to check it again, it would be off, then, obviously, the dishwasher wouldn't run all the way. The first time they sent somebody out, they sent somebody out to take a look at the dishwasher and they thought they resolved it. But the second time, when we again told them that it was tripping the fuse, rather than sending somebody for the fuse itself to be replaced, they sent out somebody else again, which ended up driving a third appointment because that individual ordered some parts that they thought may be causing the issue. The parts had to come in and they had to schedule a separate appointment for installation.

So, in the end, all it was was that the fuse needed to be replaced. Maybe it was a misdiagnosis that was occurring, which could’ve been addressed the first time just by the note of the fact that the fuse was tripping because that's what really all it ended up being in the end. If they send somebody out for the dishwasher and the problem continues, they shouldn't send somebody else out to take a look at the dishwasher.

They should take a look at the electrical side of the house, especially if the first technician said that he thought there was no issue with the dishwasher itself. At a certain extent, I'm glad that that they sent an electrician to come out and resolve the issue, because the next step that they were talking about was replacing the dishwasher. As a consumer, I like that I was going get a new dishwasher, but at the same time, that's not fair if the dishwasher is not the problem. That's not the intent of what the policy insurance is for. So, I don't want us to have to deal with that either if it's unnecessary.

Other than that, AHS has been responsive any time that we've needed something and what happened with our claim was understandable. Also, submitting an initial ticket is very easy, but when the issue isn't resolved and you need to have the issue re-looked at, that's a little bit more time-consuming. Still, that is also uderstandable to a certain extent because then you have to talk to a representative, they have to look at the note.

The individual from CMR was very nice. It wasn't cool in the house but we just had new windows put in. I don't have window treatments and it's a bow window. He immediately knew that the window was probably what was causing the issue. It was retaining too much heat in the house without the window treatments. So, either tint my windows or put blinds up and my unit will continue to work as efficiently as it's supposed to. So I was very happy about that. He still checked the unit out and made sure everything was good to go. Everything is fine, and the levels and output were good. It was very reassuring that they came out as quickly as they did and were able to look things over and reassure us that there wasn't anything wrong with the unit. So that made us feel better.

I will probably use them in the future to service my unit for cleaning because AHS doesn't include the actual servicing of maintenance such as cleaning. It's just for when it breaks down. So, I'm trying to prevent it from breaking down. We had our ducts cleaned and we've had our unit cleaned twice now. The first time we had it cleaned, the gentleman came out, cleaned it and didn't indicate there was anything wrong. We had it serviced and cleaned by another party and that party quoted us as it needed $1,000 worth of work. I told them that I just asked them to come out and clean it. I didn't ask them to do anything else. They said the home warranty won't cover any of it when I said that I have one. I said that was fine. I'm paying for a home warranty to repair any of my systems should they need repair. So, I will contact them and have them come out. Every time we've had to use AHS, they've come through.

The woman from AHS I talked to on the phone tried to assign me a contractor that was from Spotsylvania for my AC claim. I would hope they would try to do more local scenarios but I know that they only have a certain amount of vendors available at this time. Typically, they need to get parts and if they have to drive almost two hours away to get back to a warehouse in order to get parts, it does not help me in an air conditioning scenario in the middle of July. The person on the phone could have done better. And it was quite a battle trying to figure out if she could switch me over to someone closer but it was done and everything turned out great.

American Group was assigned and they weren't as close but they were still within 45-minute range to get to their office. The tech came in and he said a part failed due to electricity hitting the tree near the house. He said it can go into the ground, because the AC was working perfectly fine before that, and then it just stopped working. He took care of the problem fairly quickly. I'm happy with some things that Home Shield does and with other things, I'm not. I decided to go with them because they had some kind of discount and there was a part that another company didn't cover on their warranty that Home Shield does.

The last time they tried to send that company out, they were talking about coming out two or three days later. And hot as it was, I couldn't wait two or three days later. So AHS sent out Comfort Systems. I did the claim early that morning and they came out about five or six hours later and took care of the problem. The rep handled the problem pretty quick and pretty easily and they got somebody here that quick.

American Home Shield is good to get because sometimes there are things that you can't do to your home that you're gonna have to hire somebody to do. And some of the stuff is really expensive. But if you got more than one problem, AHS should let you go ahead and get both problems taken care of with one phone call and one deductible instead of having two deductibles.

We were spending two or three days without air conditioning. My wife is really hard up when it comes to trying to breathe in the heat so we had her under ice and wet towels. Everybody was trying their best but the initial people that was picked, when I had looked online where they were located, it was Jacksonville, Florida and I live in Orlando. That's two and a half hour drive away from here. But they said, “Don't worry about that. Maybe they've got people that live closer and they'll take their panel truck and come straight to us.” I tried calling that place and got a recording. I explained to the second person what I discovered. It ended up with those people calling me and saying they were ready to come out but the job was already done.

The third person got through again. They picked somebody closer. They had an office in Sanford. He found that the fan motor in the furnace wasn't spinning around. It was the reason it was freezing up. He said, "I can get a part up the street in 30 minutes," and he was back in that 30 minutes. It was quick. He also gave us his phone number and I called him the next day because we still got water intrusion. I took the flap down and vacuumed the front tray that catches the water drips and pushed it past some of the tight spots with the crevice adapter. I did it as much as what he was gonna do and it hasn't leaked since.

I really liked the engineer that came out from Sanford. He was good. He asked if I would like the motor to be stronger. He rewired the thing and all of a sudden, at the far end of the house, they're getting air and that's always been a problem. It was a good experience with American Home Shield. Everybody did the best they could at the time. The first person I talked to at 1 o'clock in the morning was trying to set up things. My wife calls in claims with American Home Shield and the wait is a bit longer now because of this COVID situation. Everybody's remote and calls are stacking up. Things now take a bit longer to either get answered or resolved. Before all this, things were a bit faster. People were in the shop and they would answer and the whole staff crew is available. Other than that, we have no issues.

They're responsive and they've addressed the issue on most times. There are times where I have had to convince them because the contractors sometimes tend to do things much faster and don't investigate. There was one situation where we ran into a very bad contractor who serviced the AC. Without even coming into the house, the tech said I was low on Freon so he pumped Freon and then said it's $500, without even consulting us. It took me quite a few phone calls to get a second contractor out. The second contractor that came out looked at the air handler in the house and said he sees the leak. He plugged it up, pumped it, and everything has been fine ever since then. Eventually, AHS came around and rectified the issue, it just took a bit longer. I'm hoping those are just anomalies.

We've had AHS for 20 years now and they stand behind what they advertise. If they are unable to fix something, they would make the decision to replace the equipment at an equal cost if it's available. I'm very happy with that. There has never been a case where it was denied. There's a second home I have and nobody is in it but I still have them on it because of the peace of mind. It costs me 60 bucks a month for it but if something major goes down, that's when it pays off.

When my refrigerator wasn't cold and neither was my freezer, I filed that on a Tuesday afternoon and the guy from Sears was there Friday morning. He put on a mask. He took out the part and showed it to me. It was clearly black and fried from electricity. He had the part on his truck that he could fix it and put it on and immediately the refrigerator got cold. It was fine ‘cause it was my refrigerator and I had someplace else I could put all my stuff. If my air conditioner went out in July, that would not have been a good thing. Nonetheless, I thought the timeliness was completely acceptable. I like American Home Shield very much.

Sometimes, you're in a position where you're paying the service fee, somebody's coming out, but then the repair isn't covered. It's this huge amount of money. I wish there was a secondary coverage or some other stipulations. But it seems like in general with home warranty companies, their goal is to obviously not pay, to have things repaired.

We called in a claim with AHS and everything went smoothly with their reps. They gave us a time and date, and the electrician showed up on time. He came in and replaced the fuse in the box. He was very personable and professional. He figured out the problem and got all the outlets working. The service went great and I'll be using them again next time I have a problem. All in all, I'm very happy I have the service from AHS.

All American Plumbing & Rooter was excellent. They replaced our faucets because there was no water pressure. For those situations, a week or two weeks would been fine but they responded really quickly. The first time they came out, they fixed three of the four faucets. They said they had to replace one and it took probably two or three weeks before they got the part. Then they came out once they got the part. It was very timely considering what the issue was. The water pressure is excellent, like it is supposed to be in a normal home instead of the trickle effect which I lived with for about a year. I thought it was just the water pressure to the house and come to find out, it was just the faucets. For the time I've been with American Home Shield, I'm fully satisfied. They've lived up to my expectations and it's easy. I haven't had any issues. That was my first call. I did one for my refrigerator 'cause a valve in it stopped working and that was excellent as well.

I had a heater issue and Peace of Mind came out. They assessed it and took a look at it. Then the technician determined that we ended up needing a new heater and so he handled the processing element of that. Then, once the heater came in, they came in and did the installation. He was timely, always notified me when he was coming. They took care of it. It did have a small leak on it. He turned around and he said, "Okay. I'm gonna leave it for a day." He came back at his prescribed time and he fixed the issue then. So it was over a two-day period that he did the installation, and he took care of what didn't quite seal up, where it was doing that. Because we're under COVID, he acted properly. He didn't do anything that would make me feel uncomfortable.

I had an air conditioner that I called in on late Saturday night. In each case that I have had a service person that American Home Shield is sent out, those individuals have called. They've notified, established the time that they were going to be there and they have shown up on time. Timeliness and efficiency have been good. The diagnosis of the problems has been good as well.

It was all done very quickly. American Home Shield does a very good job. But sometimes, the wait is a little longer. I had an air conditioning problem that started Saturday and it was just fixed yesterday. I had a lot of heat while it wasn’t working. But they did the best they could and the contractors are pretty busy at this time of year. So overall, I'm pleased with the service.

I heard American Home Shield from my wife's family and I didn't look at other options. I just moved into an old house so it made sense. I've had a couple of claims, all was very easy and taken care of lickety-split. We had an AC issue recently that they sent R.E. Boggs out for. There was something wrong with the compressor and a burned-out wire and they replaced those. Then there was some moisture buildup 'cause it was working more efficiently afterwards. There was also a clogged drain. They came out and did a follow-up, unclogged the drain, and it's been working perfectly ever since. All in all, it was about two weeks till the problem was completely solved. But they were out there within a couple of days of the original call.

He first ordered the replacement coil. Then when he changed that, some PCB or something was not working. He had to come back again for that. I had concerns about it because we were getting the replacement done during the COVID time. He was very cautious about that like he was wearing his mask all the time and trying to maintain distance. He was good and I was pretty satisfied with him. We have used AHS two times and usually the claims have been pretty effortless.

Our toilet wasn't flushing and we were trying to determine if it was the water pressure or the toilet. When we flush the toilet, it wasn't going all the way down. It put whatever in it out and we had to flush the toilet three or four times before it would finally flush. I called American Home Shield and stated what the problem was and opened up a claim. They assigned All Phase Plumbing. Randy came out, looked at the toilet and attempted to fix it. He was saying the same thing that we had to flush it multiple times before it would flush.

He flushed it a number of times. He started with the valve thing and worked on that. He got it to where it would flush and thought it was fixed. But when he kept trying, the problem was still occurring. In the end, the toilet was replaced. But the toilet that was sent was a cheap one and I'm not pleased with that. American Home Shield should replace the item with the quality of the item that they took out. Otherwise, it's a working toilet. Also, Randy is great. He has worked with me before and he constantly checks back with me and updates me on the claim. I appreciate that.

They had the part we needed, so same day, they came out. It was really quick. I've had American Home Shield for probably 10 years. We had them on our first house and we kept them when we moved to our new house. A couple times there'll be issues with whatever partner they're going with to service something. We had a water heater go out and that took like a week to get an appointment. Outside of a little faster turnaround on some partners, everything else American Home Shield does is great. I'm really happy with the service. It's a good peace of mind for anyone that's owning a home to have a home warranty to protect them and save a little bit of money for the initial payment that they gotta make. It's a worthwhile service.

He had it done within just a few minutes. He solved the problem and I have not had a problem since. He had all of his PPE on. I was doing a Zoom call for work when he was doing it. He was very respectful during that time frame.

American Home Shield could improve on their accessibility. When you call in, it automatically debits your card, which is fine. But if you need to cancel it, it's almost a pain to call to get it canceled just getting ahold of somebody. I feel like everything is so automated. They could provide more personal communication. I can't stand talking to robots on the phone. I get it, but it kinda takes away from the customer service piece of it. Other than that, I really don't have any concerns or issues. With the Leapin Lizard and everything with Home Shield for this situation, it was a very good experience.

Shortly after that, I requested to have some electrical work done on a broken doorbell. The contractor did not call back. So after about three days, I called American Home Shield. I sat on hold for about 45 minutes. The person who finally answered my call told me that they were no longer at contract, and that they would submit it and try and find a new contract. That was about a week and a half ago. I looked on the account on the website, and they put the same contractor back on, and no one has contacted me. On that performance, I give a big fat zero. I've been out of town on family business for the last week. But on Monday, when I’m back home, I am gonna have to call them and find out what's going on with this.

The air conditioner wasn't working properly. It wasn't cooling. I did a service request to American Home Shield through email. I logged in and did a service request and then it automatically told me the contractor that was assigned. I do like that feature that tells me within seconds who's being assigned to the service request. American Home Shield's contractors are good. The one thing that I don't like is I put in a service request from my home in Alexandria, Virginia for the water heater. Unfortunately, the plumber had a death in the family so he had to delay his initial service call because of the funeral. But when he did go, he needed a part, so then he needed to then submit it to American Home Shield for approval.

I have tenants there. It was a gasket that they needed to order. I haven't even texted my tenant. I'm afraid to text her to ask if it did get resolved. Since I manage that home, I have my tenant and the contractor work. The contractor is good. I just don't like how long it takes sometimes to get the authorization. Something was leaking with the water heater so they were having to do something daily.

My renter from Virginia last week said, “I hate to bother you, but can you call American Home Shield to find out what's going on?” It took about an hour to get someone on the phone. I'm cognizant of accents, but this person, I couldn't understand her enough. Their voice message said to send a text. So I texted the contractor, but I didn't hear back. On the same time, I was on the phone on hold with American Home Shield. Then when I did get somebody, it seemed like they were scripted. Other than that, my niece is buying a home. She closes on September 17th, so I told her to get a home warranty. I recommended them to American Home Shield.

The process of submitting claims with Home Shield is very easy. The first time I put a claim in, I was putting it in for the water softener and the automated system kept thinking I was saying sump pump. There was no easy way to talk to a human being at the time I was trying to enter that claim. And when I realized that it had put in an order and ordered a company to come out and repair my sump pump the next day, I had to contact the guy and tell him it was a water softener. Then, they explained to me that water softeners aren't covered. The automated system is only so good. It doesn't tell you what you're saying is not valid and it just picks out something similar. But other than that, it was very straightforward.

Then I had an AC claim. A condensate line on the air conditioning unit broke. The unit is in the attic and water had been dripping down into the wall. Unfortunately, the repair of the condensate line was the most minor part of the whole situation and that's all American Home Shield covered. I paid the guy from Loyal Home Services $75 but the rest of the job, including the clean up, was not covered so I got a lot more expense involved. My yearly contract is about to expire and I probably won't renew because they're limited in what they cover. Also, it was something the sellers of the house paid for when I bought it so it was no charge to me and for me to renew it is a bit too expensive.

Allcity Appliance & HVAC was very good on site. They worked on the pump that was going on the washing machine. They were quick, clean and we're very happy. All worked perfectly fine. As far as the process, they have to diagnose the issue, then get approval for whatever the fix is before they come in, order the part and get the ship squared. So, that does take some time.

I wish American Home Shield's service was a little faster. But at the end of the day, the checks and balances they have to go through to make sure that they're not getting screwed over is something we're willing to go along with for what we know is the service. They've been very beneficial for us. We've had a couple of things go. The house is a little bit older. It's our first home and I know how things operate. The minute you get something, it seems like it wants to tear up, which made me decide to get a home warranty. I must have gotten the service with American Home Shield not long after we closed on our house. It may be June was when the coverage started. When I placed the work order for the plumbing issue, the rep said that someone would be able to come the next day. And then, the person I spoke with told me that I may be able to call back again to see since the contractor couldn't come at that moment and they didn't have anyone in their network. I could maybe get someone that I could pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. She said that she may be able to call and see about getting $100 service fee waived because they couldn't find someone to come out. Then, when I called to inquire about that, the representative told me that they had no knowledge of that even being an option.

McDonald Plumbing came out and provided decent service. The toilet issue has been resolved and they replaced the faucet in the main bathroom. I’m not sure if it was on the work order, but I had something in there about a leak in my bathroom as well, in terms of the sink leaking water periodically. When they came, I was with the whole homeschooling thing, so I wasn't able to pay close attention to everything that they addressed in the bathroom. I'm thinking I did have that on the service order and maybe they didn't refer to it before they left to make sure everything was done because they didn’t have anything done to the faucet in the bathroom. They did fix the tub faucet.
