Called air condition tech on Friday 2 pm. Name of company is World Class AC Inc. He does not work on weekends so he calls back at 7 pm on Sunday and states that he cannot come to fix the ac before Wednesday. That is almost 6 days later. Here in Florida the temp outside is 95 degrees and inside the house it is over 100 degrees.
Called American Home Shield and representative states that American Home Shield does not allow him to expedite visits to fix air conditioning unless the outside temp is over 105 degrees which means the in house temp could be over 115 degrees. Who made such an inconsiderate moronic rule? Did you ever hear of heat stroke in Florida? I guess the idea is for American Home Shield to avoid paying for air conditioning services since the customer would need to call outside technicians and pay out of his own pocket because they are unable to tolerate the heat inside the house.
Hi Ernest,

We have been with AHS for about 5 years now even after moving to a new home. I made a service request for our AC unit not working back in June...It took another service request on 7/3/2020 which they never assigned a contractor to come out for. I then called multiple times with being on hold for 1-2.5 hours and still not able to get through to anyone. I finally made another online service request on 8/11/2020. The contractor came out 4 days later and was told it would take 7-10 more business days for AHS to order the Compressor. So 2 weeks later when the compressor finally arrived and was installed, I came home from work that following day to a house at 89 degrees.
They came out the next day, replaced 2 different pipes/hoses and seemed to cool off some. I got home from work that FOLLOWING day after them coming out 2x to service the unit and the house was at 87 degrees once again after it was set on 68 degrees. They had to come out for the 3rd day in a row to "fix" our AC which was just adjusting the gauge apparently. However if it weren't for me calling both AHS and the AC company 2-3x a day since the first work order and demanding to come out to fix the problem... I would still probably be sitting here in a 90 degree house 2.5 months later.
My other biggest complaint is that I have been asking everyday for the past week that I have had to called them to talk to a supervisor aka their "escalation department" in which I was either told they do not have a supervisor around OR that they will document and have a supervisor call me back within the hour and the other times promised to be called back within the 24 hours. I have yet to get that call.

We have been trying to get Home Shield to sent some out to look at our AC unit since it's not cooling. We have called 5 times today to see when they can send someone 'cause it's Texas and too hot for no air. All we get is someone will call you back. All home shield does is take your money and never gets the issue actually fixed. In the past year they have been out 4 times to fix our unit with it going out every winter and summer.
Cody,
Thanks for providing your feedback. I hate that that we were not able to meet your expectations while the contract was active. We hope this does not discourage you from considering us for your future home warranty needs.

Appliance and Service Depot was sent out by AHS and they keep telling me things like they would call me but they never would. They would put me on hold and they would never come back. It's been over a week and it's the same thing every day. Sometimes they leave me an hour on the phone and they never come back. I've never dealt with people treat me like that. The technician came here August 5th. They said they ordered the part but I found out they never ordered the part until the 21st of August. They told me it was not available according to the manufacturing but then they came back and told me they ordered it on the 23rd. I have no problem with the technician. It’s just the people on the phone. They are not giving me a straight answer, hearing this and that, but it's lie after lie.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We do appreciate your feedback, and I do apologize for any inconvenience. We would love to assist more in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

For my second year renewal with American Home Shield, they jacked up the price of my coverage significantly. We paid 400-something in my first year and in the second year, they want 700-something. I'm not gonna pay that much. Still, I had a dishwasher issue recently and American Home Shield's contractor, Eberhardt Services, came out to handle it. The techs from there diagnosed that they needed to replace my control board. They came back a week and a half later once they got that. Everything they did was very quick and I have high respect for their work. Everything has been good since then.

American Home Shield sent The Plumbing Works for my claim regarding my garbage disposal and a leak in my kitchen sink. They came twice, once on a Tuesday and again on a Friday of the same week and they were on time. They wore masks and they were able to resolve everything. I really like them.

My air conditioner was running but only regular air was blowing out. It was neither hot nor cold. I initially paid for coolant through the company who put my heating and safety in. I submitted a claim to AHS and they sent Air & Water Solutions. I called them right away and the techs came that day. They found a leak behind my AC coil and a lot of coolant had come out. A part was needed and they ordered that. The tech said it was gonna take a week. While the job hasn't been completed yet, Air & Water Solutions has been great and I'm really pleased with them. I'm not sure why coolant isn't covered in my policy but otherwise, my experience with AHS has been good.

I had 2-10's warranty before I got American Home Shield's. 2-10 limited me to two systems while AHS takes care of all of them. Recently, I had a claim for my AC unit that was not cooling. It was a flawless process. Home Shield scheduled sent Piedmont Mechanical who then schedule an appointment in three hours. We missed the first schedule because I didn't understand the text that was sent. I was supposed to respond to it but I didn't. So, we had to reschedule and after we did that, the next appointment was in two days. My wife, who was there at the time of the repair, said everything went well. Piedmont took care of the issue right away. The repair was worked with my wife's schedule so I was satisfied with their timeframe.

The first time, I called AHS for my AC unit. It came on and then it shut back off. The contractors said it was a fuse or something. It was easy to get through, but it was the point that I had to keep waiting for the contractors to come back. Then they came out a total of three times. They fixed it temporarily. They just patched it up and then they left. But it wasn't until the last time the guy really explained. He was like, “They were just lazy and they didn't fix it and knew it was the motor the whole time.” Each time it was a different person. Then the second time also, I paid for a maintenance of getting the filter cleaned but that wasn't even a problem. So, I paid for that for nothing out of my pocket.
They were negligent because they could have fixed it, did it the first time, instead of me having to call, wait, come back, wait and then send another technician out. Then they were like, "We have a lot of other customers." I understand that. It's hot. We don't wanna be in a hot house either. But I think that for American Shield, they can get more than one contractor for AC. American Home Shield needs to have more contractors in each department besides just one. You got people outside American Home Shield, then you have their regular customers. It should be, "Okay, we have these three contractors. Which one would you like, ma'am or sir?" So, we don’t have to do it over with them again. We don't have to do business with them again.

The AC units are on one side of the house and the master bedroom wasn't getting enough push of air. Lane Services came out quick after I requested for service with Home Shield online. The tech corrected the situation as best he could and explained it to us very well. He told us to slowly close and not close completely the vents downstairs to get more air push through the back bedroom.

I purchased this house and before moving in, I had the AC checked out and all the appliances. So, I had the paperwork confirming that the AC was working fine. I also requested the American Home Shield cover to be provided, which was how I got it. The AC worked for a single day. So, we were three months without it in the hot summer. I submitted a claim to AHS and the contractor said that the compressor was the issue. But it was not. It was the coil and so, I spent $1,200 for nothing to change the compressor.
The contractor came and looked, and said that they performed the work. But they didn’t show up at my place. So, I wouldn't blame AHS for that. It was the heating and cooling company they contracted with. I wish American Home Shield would not work with them. I understand how American Home Shield insurance works. So, I'm happy with it but they have an agreement with a lot of contractors and it seems like some of the contractors don't want to do the work. They just take it so that they will get the maximum out of AHS but they do not really solve the customer issue.

They set up the appointment and they let us know that company would be calling us within 24 hours. The contractor who came out to fix the dryer was great. He was nice and he explained everything to us, like what he was doing. The dryer’s been working fine since. Being part of AHs has been great. I had a washer claim with AHS and some guy came the first time but he didn't even look at it. He was horrible. It didn't seem like he had showered in days and he was very unprofessional. We didn't even know he had left. I called AHS and asked for another person to come from a different company. The guy from Sears came and he knew exactly what the problem was. He changed a part and that was it. He was very friendly and very professional.
My most recent claim was for the AC unit and the first time somebody came, they changed the capacitor. Then, we had our routine maintenance done and they said that this is a very old unit and it's leaking Freon. I was still within the 30 days and I called HomeShield back. I said I need someone to come look at it again and I have paperwork to show that the Freon was leaking. They put the claim through and the technician is supposed to call me to set up an appointment. It was a week ago and I haven't received anything.

The online claims have been fine and the coverage has been moderate. We've had two refrigerators and one dishwasher that Omega Force Appliance Repair has been out for. One was covered and two weren't but everything that they've done is working fine. Getting through to American Home Shield to try to add another appliance once the guy was out here was a really long wait time and they ultimately told me that it wasn't covered.
For the third one, we submitted it fine but the company called back and said it wasn't covered. I assumed they were gonna credit me back my $75 because we had to pay them kind of outside of pocket. I put through the claim and they charged my card. The company said, “We can't help you so they'll have to refund it.” There's this unknown piece around the potential refund of what I already paid ‘cause I never heard anything from them. I'm just gonna wait, look at my credit card statement, and see what happens. I don’t like to call American Home Shield ‘cause it takes so much time. But we had really good technicians. We’ve asked for Delton to be the person to come each time. He did a good job.

We had had a refrigerator repair guy come out who thought that the problem was electrical. Miguel from MC Electric came out and found out that it wasn't, that the electricity was in order. A breaker had thrown and somebody didn't see it so it was a very simple fix. MC Electric has been here a couple of times and Miguel is always very efficient. He wore a mask.
We've been with American Home Shield for four years now and we're very thrilled. Their service has been very prompt. We had to wait two weeks for the refrigerator technician, but that's been the anomaly. Other than that, we've usually had people come within a couple of days so that has been very good. We've had a few things replaced that has made it worthwhile. It's always a gamble. Are we gonna spend $500 this year on appliances or not? But my wife likes it, so that's how we're going.

The AC unit seemed like it was working properly fine. But when I did an inspection for my unit to sell, the inspector wanted me to have the AC unit serviced by a technician, So I asked for the technician to verify if it was working properly and know if it needed to be fixed. The technician from JJ's Fire came out, checked and did some work. Whatever he did seemed to take care of the problem because he told me that the AC was reading fine now. American Home Shield is a good policy to have because it's gonna help you. Overall, they were on time and the repairs were consistent. There wasn't any need for them to come back later and repair it again. Once they repaired it, it maintained perfectly after that.

Our air conditioner stopped working, so we initiated a claim through the website of AHS. The website was very easy. I was told I’d be contacted within 24 hours, and the contractors were out here within 24 hours. It was some broken part in there that they replaced. The guy was really nice. He immediately knew what the problem was and had the part on the truck. So it was fixed within an hour and he was on his way. It was great. However, I'm not completely sold on American Home Shield. I don't think we're gonna be renewing. Based off of the first claim, we're at 50-50 right now. We got the run around with our first claim. It was with a pool heater. It's still broken. It was just not a good experience at all, having to have two companies come out and have the claim rejected and our heater still doesn't work.

The air conditioning was broken and American Home Shield chose someone from Atlanta, which is three hours away. They only come to Aiken once a week and they were already booked for the week, which meant I would have had to go a week and a half with no air conditioning. I was not pleased, so I called American Home Shield back and told them it wasn't working. They then gave me C and C Heating from Augusta and David came out the next day and he fixed it. He had an assistant with him and they were professional. They went right to work and then they explained too that it was gonna take about an hour or more to really cool down once it finally started 'cause it was over 90 here. Overall, American Home Shield said they were gonna do something, and they did what they said they were gonna do. I put a lot of stock in that.

The AC wasn't running properly. It couldn't keep up the temperature. The system is 16 years and it has been repaired last year, the year before and twice this year. It needs to be replaced. Even when it’s running, it’s very inefficient. It's costing a fortune in electric because it's running all the time and American Home Shield wouldn't replace it. They keep sticking Band-Aids on it and filling it back up with refrigerant, and it's costing us more and more money to keep it running. The last time the technician came, he just cleaned everything. The filter and the coils were dirty. The time before that, they topped up the refrigerant. It just can't keep up. It's got a leak, it's very old and it's rusty. So we can't live with this. We need to get a new one and if AHS won't do it, we have to do it ourselves. In which case, then we don't need AHS.
We have another house in Savannah and we got that covered because that has a lot more systems and they’re a lot newer. We had an AC go down in that house and AHS decided they couldn't repair it. So, they replaced it and we were very pleased about that. We have all new appliances in this house and they're all the same brand. My understanding is that if one of them needs to be replaced, we don't get any say in what brand goes in and it might be a completely different brand and not match the other appliances. So that would be unacceptable. If it's something like an air conditioner, you don't care but if it's your oven, you do care.
I would be very satisfied if what was broken got resolved and it didn't cost a lot of extra money. In this case with the air conditioning unit, we were not satisfied because it was the wrong thing to do. As a program, they're costing more money themselves and us in the long run by not replacing it when so clearly, every engineer who came here told us that. He said that American Home Shield won't do it. They'll keep it running forever.

Home Shield sent Air Resolutions by AirMack for our AC. It wasn't working. I just called Home Shield and made a service request. Air Resolutions was superb. I had to leave. They called me while I was in Florida on business, took care of the issue, and called me back and told me what exactly they had to do. It was fixed and I got home and it was working perfectly.
I have another claim with Home Shield which I'm exceptionally dissatisfied with. It's our refrigerator freezer. I am surprised that Home Shield is handling this one the way they're doing. They agreed they can't fix it and they would replace it. They can't even get the parts for eight weeks. We've already paid our $100 service request on the 15th. They're telling us that they can give us $300 towards another purchase because that was the cost of the part or we could wait six more weeks until the parts came in. I just simply asked them why I can't get a hold of an executive. In my business, customer service means everything.
Home Shield is dropping on this one. We have five small children and they're telling us to wait. In fact, Home Shield called us and said, "Your parts will be here on the 24th and your contractor in Arlington should be able to come out and put them in." 24th came, we never heard anything, so I called them the 25th and finally got through and they said they'd check on it. They called me this morning saying that they were unable to get the parts until six weeks.
They came back and said we can complain. They said, "Your parts are gonna be $300 so we can offer you that as a buyout and you can go get another fridge." I said, "In America, where would you buy a refrigerator freezer replacement like what we have for $300? You actually are not giving me $300. I paid you $100 on the 15th for a service request, and I paid you $68 this month for my membership. So how are you giving me $300?" I'm waiting for them to change their mind. That's not service. I'm extremely disappointed.

My daughter went in to take a shower. She turned the knob to hot and it turned but she wasn't able to get it to turn off. I called the plumber out because American Home Shield couldn't get anybody out to me. They told me it was the only one that they could offer me and it was the weekend. They said they had people to come out but that guy didn't come until the next morning. I had to call and harass them to get somebody out. That guy got there about 1:30 in the afternoon. My water had been running since about 9 or 10 o'clock Sunday night. Once he got there, he saw the problem and addressed it. He told me that he would have to get a part and his manager would have to approve because the part on my faucet was warrantied through Moen. Any product that they have, he said it was warrantied. He went, got the part, came to the house and fixed the problem.
I had other issues that I stated in the claim when I initially made the claim but he didn't address those issues. He had to come back out. I had a toilet handle and he fixed those. He put the handle on my toilet but now I'm having problems. My water is running in my toilet. In my tub, the little metal piece that goes down into the tub where the water goes down is corroded. He was supposed to fix that but he said he did not see the work order for that so he didn't do the job. I said the person I spoke with said they put it in the report for him to fix it. That was a part of the claim. He said he didn't see it. It was kinda crazy 'cause it could've been done better. The main thing is getting the right representatives online to be able to understand the customer needs. I don't know if the rep understood what I said or she was putting down what she wanted to put down on the paperwork but I explained to her what was what needed to be done and where I needed done.
I've been with American Home Shield for almost a year and I've never had any issues. I would probably recommend their service. There are a lot of people that don't know about it and I share the information. But American Home Shield could get the right contractor - people that are local. That guy was local but the other people don't respond. Their office is open from 8:00 to 5:00. What if someone has an emergency like an AC problem or water's not working. What are they supposed to do? They need to do better with their contractors. Get better people that's on the job. Get a different company that has a 24-hour emergency response. They have companies like plumbers and electricians that are 24 hours who can somebody out in an emergency but they didn't come out and that was an emergency 'cause my water was running all night. We had to shut the water off on the whole house to get the water to stop running.

Three Brothers AC came out for my AC claim with American Home Shield. Everything went fine. It turned out to be quite an easy fix. All of a sudden, the AC would not turn on. It was not a trip in the breaker. It was actually the unit itself. It turned out that the cover of the unit had come undone for whatever reason and that cover was what actually completes the circuit for the AC unit. So Three Brothers had to replace the cover and then they put it on there and taped it down so it would really hold on tight. The two gentlemen that came in were very good and very quick. They diagnosed the problem in about 10 minutes and got it taken care of very quickly. They did a good job. For this recent claim, American Home Shield did a really good job. I've used them in the past for much bigger issues, so this recent claim, thankfully, was very relatively minor and done very quickly. So, it worked out well.

The guy from Air Pro Heating was great. He responded quickly. He came in and found the problem. I had a problem about three weeks earlier, and it was a weekend and I couldn't get in touch with American Home Shield. So I got a guy here who charged me 450. All he did was he changed a fuse and he put two and a half pounds of Freon. So then, we had another problem. The gentleman from Air Pro came and he said the problem was a fan. He replaced it. It's been working well ever since. About a week later, I had problems setting the thermostat and all I did was text him and he responded right away. Within about three minutes, he cleared that up and I've not had another problem.
Everything's gone well with American Home Shield. I'm pleasantly surprised because insurance has always been like a hole to me in the ground. It's just there to suck your money up. It's not a product, it's a contract for a future service, and they have no problem taking your payments. But once you need them, then it seems like nothing but headache. But American Home Shield is one of the few insurances that came through.

He couldn't just take that little lock thing out and put their lock thing in because he said it still wouldn't lock for whatever reason. At first he went and bought a lock but it was not what I had. I needed to have the same kinda lock. I told him to let me go get my own lock so I went up the street, got the lock from Home Depot, brought it back, and he put it on. It took longer than what it should have taken because he went to the store then I went to the store. But the locks are fine and the guy was fine. My furnace from the air conditioning was leaking inside the house. The floor was soaking wet. The first time I called American Home Shield, they were gonna send somebody out. But the guy they were talking about couldn’t come for about a week. So, I called them back, and they sent somebody the very next day. They were very kind and they understood the first time I called and when I called them back the second time to tell them that the people couldn’t come for a week.
The guys who came out fixed my problem. They were fine except that they went next door. I went outside and when I saw them, I asked if he was looking for my house number because he was looking at my neighbor's. He was about to leave. He started laughing. He was very pleasant, and the young guy with him was very pleasant too. I've been with American Shield for a long time, and everything’s been fine. I haven’t had quite many problems. If I had and I called them back because the people didn’t fix something properly or whatever was going on, they address the problem right then and there.

The guy from Smokey's Garage Door came when he said he was going to and he was very nice. Our garage door would go down, and then it would hit the ground, and then it would go back up. It was not closing all the way. I did a service order and it went great. The guy assessed what was going on, and then he replaced the motor. It works fine now.
On the other hand, I had my air conditioning done as a different call and hygienically, the guy wasn't that clean. He did the repair fine, but I also didn't think it was very professional. Another thing is the person that came that replaced the motor in the hallway said he had the wrong motor. When the guy came out this time, he said, "Yeah, it's the wrong motor, but I can't do anything about it." and it sounds like there's an airplane landing in my hallway every time the unit goes on. It's supposed to be a variable motor and I don't know if that makes a difference in the sound, but it's very loud. As a matter of fact, when I have guests that come over to stay, I always say, "Well, how was your sleep?" and they say, "Well, except for the air conditioner..." which, it is loud.

I had an outside leak that was fixed for a water hazard. I also had another inside leak in my second bathroom and there was water coming into the restroom. The guy from DrainGo told me that I would have to make sure that my faucet was covered because I didn't put in the claim that the faucet had a leak. I didn't know that it was leaking from the faucet so when I filed the claim online, I only put in that I had two leaks. But since it was coming from the faucet and not just a pipe, I had to submit another claim so I had to be charged another $100 even though the guy never left. At that point, I really didn't worry about it. I just wanted to get it done and over with. I'm satisfied with Home Shield, but I'm not happy because my AC unit is still out.
An air conditioning company came out and looked at both my outside and inside units. The technician told me that the outside unit was leaking Freon. He knew what he was talking about. This is the second time I had them out there dealing with the AC. When calling AHS, it was taking forever to get a real person on the phone. So I just submitted another claim online. It's much easier than trying to call in and do it.
It seemed that the last guy who came out for the AC knew that the unit was messed up and didn't wanna fool with it. It didn't take him 30 minutes to find out that the outside unit was no more good. He told me that they were gonna have to submit a claim to American Home Shield and see if they would approve it. I should hear from American Home Shield in a few days and then we would go from there. The company is gonna be the one who's providing everything. I like them. But now, I have about three window units in my house to keep it cool and it's currently impossible. A guy from Reynolds Heating & Cooling came out, inspected our unit and said something was wrong with the compressor. We didn't get any documentation and he did not even put the top back on. He left it hanging and just left. He ordered something and we tried to contact him at a later time, but we never could get an answer. For one thing, the heat index had risen. We called American Home Shield every day after the guy left once we didn't hear anything. We were in constant conversation with American Home Shield for weeks and we were on hold for two to three hours every single day.
Eventually, they said, "Well, ma'am, what we have to do, we have to call the repair company or either email them. And we need 24 to 48 hours. And we'll call you back." We never ever got a call back, so we called again and the representative kept saying, "Well, ma'am, we need to reach out." We asked them to please not give us that line again. We did not wanna hear they need to reach out to the repair people who came out because their previous representative informed us of that. We were frustrated at this time. We then suggested to them, "Can you all please send out someone else? Because you are not reaching whomever initially came out.” They said it had to go through another department for them to okay for someone else to come out.
After a week and a half or two, a different company finally came out again. The repairman said that there was a power surge that caused the unit to go out. He also said the unit had to be replaced and at a cost of $4,800. According to the American Home Shield's advertisements, "If we can't repair your unit, we will replace." We were under the impression that would happen and we had to find that out the hard way that they don't replace every unit. This situation was a nightmare. We waited for about two months and then they refused to replace the unit or do anything about the service to the unit. It was unbelievable.
American Home Shield is saying that in their contract, they don't handle power surges, so they denied the claim. Really people? It took them all this length of time. We had the unit replaced but not through that company. It's already been taken care of, but we had to pay out of pocket for a new unit after American Home Shield said that they would not cover. Out of eight years of being with them, we've called them once or twice. We've decided that we're gonna look for another warranty provider because we were so dissatisfied.

We had some renovations on our house. Plumb Genius thought that it was above where I'd had a bathroom renovated. They said they couldn't do any more because they were gonna have to move a vanity that we just had installed. We gutted and redid a bathroom, and they thought it was coming from the bathroom plumbing. I called my contractor who did the work and has been subbed it out to this guy, he came out and we figured out that it wasn't coming from the bathroom, it was coming six feet to of the left of that. So, really nice guys and they were like, "We think we know what the problem is," but the other contractor that did the plumbing found it in no time and it wasn't where Plumb Genius thought it was.
I signed up with AHS however long ago. We got all sorts of problems. We have an older house. It was built in '83. I was like, "This will be perfect." It was 76 a month. Then, the next year came and I got my bill and it was like astronomically compared to what it was a year before. We had zero claims. I'm not real happy about the price jumping after a year, and I hadn't even used them for anything. I was never notified of it too. I was like, "You can't just up the price without letting somebody know. Give me the option to opt-out." Their communication was absolutely horrid on that end. Then also, whenever I first signed up, my deductible was $100 per trip. Now, it's turned into 125.

I have two properties on the same street and I have American Home Shield on both. Firstly, whenever I call the customer support, I'm put on hold for a long time trying to get hold of a representative. Sometimes it takes one hour, and sometimes it even takes about two hours. I hope they can improve that. The second thing I was not happy about is, recently, I raised a ticket for a toilet plumbing issue on one property. There was water dripping from the upstairs toilet to the ceiling downstairs and they sent a plumber who came and inspected it.
The plumber that American Home Shield sent wrongly claimed that the floor was uneven, and because of that, there was a leak. He also said that the floor had to be made even. In order to do that, it would be a charge of $500, and American Home Shield would not pay for that. I had to pay $500 out of my pocket to get the problem fixed, so I did not get the repair done. I then got a private plumber to look at it, and he said that there was no problem with the floor and that the pipe had a crack. He applied some glue and some cement to the pipe and since then, there has been no leak.
On the same property, one of the burners was not working in the kitchen cooktop and the appointment for someone to come and take a look at it took about a week after I placed the request. Axis Appliance Repair came, diagnosed the problem, and then it took them again more than a week to obtain the part. Once they obtained the part, I had to schedule the appointment again and between scheduling it after waiting for the part to arrive, it took another 10 days. I was not very happy that it took quite some time, but other than that, they replaced the burner, and the cooktop is working fine.

The problem still existed and I had to spend an extra 100 bucks on the second call when the first guy could've fixed it all.
The second guy was great. He went in and identified that the fan was an issue that's why there was no air blowing in there. When he identified that, he said he was gonna have to come back. That's a second home for us. We stay there on the weekends. I said I was gonna have to come back out during the week. He called it in to see if it fit and it did. American Home Shield gets the people out here very quickly. I get the information out there to them and then they contact you depending on what time you call for your issue. Cabot did an awesome job. They are one of the best ones AHS sent out so far to service my air conditioner. There were two guys who came out. He was training the guy as well. Both them were good. When they came into the house, they both had masks on so everything was well. They checked to make sure the AC was cooling off properly. The technician took his time to explain to me step-by-step what was going on with my unit. He gave my options and let me know the best one for me at the time. He broke it down so I could understand it and I can make my own decision of what I wanted to do. So, it was great.
The service with American Home Shield has been good so far although we had an issue with American Home Shield about a year ago. They took an extra service fee of $109 out of our account and to this day, we still haven’t resolved the issue with them. They kept saying they didn't do that. We've sent them all the documentation such as what's in our bank statement as well as everything they asked for. We still haven't received the $109 that was owed to us from them. I told them that they took the money over the phone from me from my debit card because you had to pay first before they even contact anybody. Then about a month later, they deducted another $109 out of our account. So, that put a bitter taste in my mouth for that part. But that's been the only hiccup we've had with American Home Shield.
We fought that, we talked to every person that we could, from the manager to the call center supervisor, we emailed them and sent them the documentation from my bank. I said that we don't know what else we could do. They said that their records were gonna show that. Maybe records are showing but my bank statement is showing they took $109 out of my checking account. So, that's not gonna lie.

It's just nice to know that you have 'cause I don't have a significant other or anyone else that I can contact other than my dad, but he couldn't do any of the work. It feels good to know that there's gonna be somebody there that can handle it.
On my recent claim regarding my AC, I liked being able to track where the contractor was. That was the first time that I've experienced that, so that was exciting. He talked to me before to ask me questions and I told him what my dad has said about the motor running but the fan was not moving. So he went right away, checked it out and seeing that that was the issue. Then it started raining like cats and dogs so it took him a little while to get back after he had left to go get some material. But he came right back and finished. AHS is very timely. I like that. It was not their fault that I had to wait 'till the weekend to get the air conditioner. But the call was answered and Elite did a good job. I know you can set an appointment on the AHS app, but I just like that I could still be able to talk to someone. I'm still a stickler to talk to people.

The first time APC Plumbing came out, they were here for five minutes, replaced the Johni-Ring and left. Within two hours the same problem was happening, it was leaking. So I called them back and they came out again. He was here for about 10 minutes that time, said that maybe he had pinched it wrong, that he flushed it five times and it should leak by then. It should be fixed. In another two hours there was still water all over the floor.
I called back a third time and they came out again. He said that he was gonna check for a hairline fracture. He couldn't find anything, so he said maybe it was just the bolts need to be tightened. So he tightened the bolts. Each time I said, “Are you guys sure? Because within a couple of hours, it starts leaking again.” He said, “No, this should do it. If not, call us back.” So in two hours, it was leaking again. I called them back and the lady at the office, who was extremely rude, told me that I had to caulk it and that would stop the leaking, which I'm not a plumber, but the water is still gonna come out whether you caulk it or not.
Then she said, “I'm not sending somebody out again. We replaced the Johni-Ring. Your warranty only covers replacing a Johni-Ring and tightening bolts. We don't do caulking and I'm not sending someone else out again.” So that was when I called AHS and requested another company. I've asked that they never ever send APC Plumbing out to me again.
I have the three invoices here, it's still not fixed. I had another company come out again and it's still not fixed. I’m having a really hard time getting this taken care of. I pay for the warranty. I'm not a plumber. I don't understand what's going on. But you would think that a plumbing company would be able to fix something. But I’ve had four visits and it’s still not fixed. American Home Shield has been very helpful though. It’s just I'm not having luck with the companies they’re using.

My experience with AHS has been very good so far. I've been using them for multiple houses. However, when the contractor came for my AC issue, he came multiple times and I did not like the service. First of all, they changed the coil and then they had to come back a second time because it stopped working again. So they had to change some other parts. It was broken three times and I just had enough with them. So then I called these guys, Cityline. Since there was a long gap, like a couple of months, I said, I was not gonna call the other company. There was a clog in the line. Because the water level was going high into the pipe. So they had to come and clean the pipe. But this guy said it might happen again. So we'll keep an eye on this.

You're able to give them enough information on the website. The website is fine. But it's better for you as a customer to speak with somebody instead of trying to do the claim online because there’s not every option available to you there on the website that you really need to get your point across. You really need to speak with somebody in some cases. When I had a toilet issue, the gentleman who came was very, very helpful. I was working when he came so I wasn't at home but when I spoke with him prior to him coming to my home, he was very good.

The AC stays cool during the day, but then in the afternoon, the thermostat will reach as high as even 80 even though it is set at 70 or 72. It gets really, really hot. So I called American Home Shield and the first person that came out didn't do anything. He went out and looked at the unit and said the pressure were good. He never went into the attic to check that part of the unit. He opened up where the air filter was and said it was dirty. So he took out the air filter and told us we needed to replace it and then our problem should be done. We bought the air filter the next day, put it in, and it didn't help.
Another person that I know that works in heating and AC came over and he went outside and he looked at the unit. He said pointed out that they should have cleaned all the grime that was kicked up on the outside of the unit. He said it was something they were automatically supposed to do. He told me that there was a solution that we can spray on it that would help loosen it up, which we did. We got a water hose and it was just gunk coming off of it. It helped a little, but still in the afternoon, the AC would be 79 or 80, especially when there was more people than me and my daughter at home.
I called American Home Shield again and I asked them to not send the other guy because he didn't seem like he really wanted to be helpful. So they sent out another guy who was awesome. He came out and he looked outside at the unit. He said that all the pressures were good. He went up in the attic and he found a problem up top. He repaired that problem and he said we should be good. But it was only good for that day. The next day, the problem persisted. So I called American Home Shield back again and they never called me so I went ahead and scheduled the appointment online. Unfortunately, they sent the first guy back out again.
The guy came in and immediately when he came to the door, I explained to him the things that had happened since the first time. He was real kinda dismissive like just kinda condescending. Usually when they come, it's during the day. So the temperature seems fine when they walk in, which is why I think they kinda brush it off. So I started taking pictures of the thermostat to show him what it looks like in the afternoon. But he was kinda dismissive. His comment was, "Well, it's been triple digits in Texas. I mean, what do you expect?" I told him that even with triple digits, the thermostat shouldn't remain this high, constantly.
He said all they can do was check. So he went outside and then he came back in asking where was our other unit at. I told him it's up in the attic and I took him out to the garage. He said, "Oh, yeah, I remember this. I remember this because your daughter had to move the car for me to get to the attic." I told him that that never happened because he didn't go to the attic. My daughter doesn't even have a car and my car wasn't here at the time. He just kinda looked at me and then he went up there and came back about five minutes later. He said, "Oh, I remember what it was now. How big is your house?" I told him the square footage and he said that the problem was that the unit is too small for the size of house that I have. He told me that the unit is for an apartment complex. But the people that I bought this house from have had this unit here 15 years and they've never had a problem with the unit. It worked fine when we first moved in.
He said he checked everything and that the unit is working fine. He added that I just need a bigger unit and that was the end of it. I've tried to call American Home Shield and all I got was automated systems. I can't talk to a person to let them know the experience I've been having with the air conditioning people. I even tried to go online and do the live chat but I sat there for over an hour and no one responded to the live chat. I can't even do a follow-up to try and figure out is there another company I can deal with the AC to get a second opinion because I can't get through to them. So it's not been a good experience at all.

I called American Home Shield for an issue I was having with my stove's oven. The reps gave me a time window when to expect their contractors. They sent All Valley Appliance Heating and AC and the techs from there were fast and efficient. However, there was an issue with my stove and someone else came to fix that. Still, that wasn't because of anything that All Valley did or did not do. Now, my stove is working fine. Being with AHS has been pretty good for me and I'm glad I purchased their insurance.

And then, when Home Shield finally got to me, they said they couldn't do it. But it was fine. The issue was the icemaker in my refrigerator. It took Windings a couple of times for it to be repaired since they had to get parts. But other than that, Home Shield is not as expensive as it could be. I use it when I need to use it. They usually try to do their best to fix the issue, so I'm fine with it. Home Shield has been really good to me.

It would be a while before the technician from Hometown Garage Doors could come out, but he was in the area, so when I called, I was able to get there in time. He came out, diagnosed the problem and said, "This is what we need to do." We both wore our masks and he fixed the issue, and then he was on his way. He was very professional and I thought, "Wow." It was a pleasant experience, but I've had some very bad experiences with the contractors that have been sent out as well. In fact, last time I used my own plumber for my water heater. I'm in the Harley Davidson business, and I started checking out the guy American Home Shield sent. We found out that the guy would just go out of business and go back in business under a different name, and he was part of a motorcycle gang club.
He was a very bad guy. I explained to the lady (they're always wonderful) that they were putting me at risk having him even coming in my house. I had to keep going back until finally, I went through the option where I could get my own service provider and they would approve a certain amount. It was a water heater replacement and the folks that I got to have it done are fabulous. The actual work that was done cost $1,300 and I know they gave me a fair price, but American Home Shield only paid 312. They said it was for the water heater, but that means there was no labor. The whole thing didn't make sense to me. The plumber was surprised too at the cost that was reimbursed.
American Home Shield should let the consumer check out the providers and if we could use our own contractors, that would be the biggest thing. Now, I have found out that Allstate started to offer the same kind of home protection service that we can use our own people. These are people who are coming into our home and once we get a provider, it's so hard if they don't do it right. We have to go back and go back and go back with American Home Shield. For the most part, it has been good service and the people that have come out have been good, but we have to be very wary of the people that gets sent out as well.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

They were horrible and I couldn't wait to go back to AHS. They’re very nice at AHS and very accommodating. I had a claim for my garbage disposal and it went well. The tech from Neighborhood Plumber & Rooter was here a day early, which was great, and he was wearing a mask. I’ve dealt with this company through AHS before and I liked them. He fixed the garbage disposal. But I had just replaced my sink to a large farmhouse sink and he told me my garbage disposal didn't have the horsepower that a farmhouse sink requires. I wound up having my handyman, who also happens to be a plumber, replace my garbage disposal recently to an upgraded one.

My basement is still damaged and neither the company OR AHS has done anything to fix it. To add insult to injury AHS is STILL sending this company out to service people’s home. We called American Home Shield for a microwave oven. It is over the stove so it also serves as the light and the hood fan. It wouldn't work then it would work then it wouldn't work. It was very frustrating and inconvenient. American Home Shield did send out Advanced Home Services and they said they could repair it. Then American Home Shield said they'd replace it. I've been trying and trying and trying to get ahold of somebody to find out what the heck is going on, but that's been a hell of an effort. Trying to get an answer out of anybody from this warranty company is like pulling teeth. I am getting a brand new microwave oven instead of them repairing the old one. I'm okay with that but I wish I could find out who's sending it and when I'm gonna get it. That's the big miscommunication that I'm having with American Home Shield.
My property manager out there has authority to call for problems and she was having issues. She asked the tenant who's retired so he has a little bit of time on his hands. He finally got through but in trying to do the follow up, he was very, very frustrated and so was my property manager. That's when I got involved and I experienced the same thing. I call the number, get to a person but they don’t know much. It must be limited to what's on their screen.
One time, they said, “I'm sorry, Mr. **, but it shows here that the the owner of the warranty is Ray **,” who’s my tenant. I said, "I'm the guy who owns the property. I'm the guy who pays for the warranty. Why isn’t my name up there? He's not even authorized to do anything. Why is his name on your screen as the authorized caller?” I was pissed off about that. I got that straight with the rep and she said she didn't know anything. She transferred me and it was a two-hour wait to purchasing and they don't give you a call back like the other number does.
I hung up and got a call back. I talked to a guy and he said they had been authorized to send a new one. I asked if it had been ordered and he said, "I think so." "I think so" is not a good answer. That's like, "I think it isn't." I asked, "I think it is or I think it isn't, which is it?” He said he didn't know. I asked if he could transfer me and it was the same thing. It was a two-hour wait. Then it just hangs up on you while you're waiting.
I called the regular number and I was on hold. It said, “If you press one, we'll call you back.” I did that twice and I never got a call back. My property manager says the same thing and so does my tenant. I have a different warranty company for a different property and I don't have this problem. I've had things done in the past with American Home Shield. The dryer went out and they sent a guy who got the part fixed. The air conditioning blew a fuse and they sent a guy out who took care of it. I had a water leak and the guys came out. I've had good experiences but this last time was terrible. I don't know if it's because they changed their call center to another country. The people don't understand what they're doing or not trained properly or it's too new for them to get their boo boo together.

American Home Shield is a little too high, but because we have an older home, it's valid. Two years ago, they had to put in a new air conditioning and they left us in the heat for quite a long time before we could get a new unit. I was not happy with that at all and I'm still stringing over it, but this time, my experience was great. I tried to submit my claim over the phone because I like to talk to somebody. However, I could not get anybody, so I went online and I was very pleased. It's very easy and it went a lot quicker than I thought. I was scheduled the next day and then Elite Appliance came immediately when I called. They ordered my part, came right back and put them in. Everybody I dealt with was very kind and expedient. Their service was great as well and they stayed away and didn't approach me because of COVID.

I'm selling my house, and so I had to transfer the warranty to the new owner. I tried calling Home Shield last week and it was taking such a long time that I just gave up. When Extreme came out last for our AC, the gentleman told me that my unit needed three pounds of Freon and that AHS would pay for $10 a pound, and I would owe the extra. Then he did that, and the air worked. They were in good communication over when they would be here. It was a five-hour window. The contractor was a nice man and seemed to know what he was doing. But the AC's broken right now and I'm waiting on Extreme to come back out and fix it.
The big box that sits outside with the fan in it started making a lot of new noise, but it was still running. Then yesterday morning, I looked out the window at it and the fan was having a hard time starting its spin. It was trying, it was doing some slow movement and then it finally started back. Then just a short time later, 30 minutes, the breaker blew. It tripped the breaker, which has happened in the past with this unit. So, when I fixed the breaker, reset the breaker and cut the air off and cut it back on, the fan never came back on. It would not turn it off. So, I just cut it off and immediately submitted a claim to AHS, but I did it on the phone this time.
I'm aggravated that my air conditioner continues to break down, but I can't really blame it on American Home Shield. As far as American Home Shield, they did a proper job. We don't have a ton of money to throw into a new air conditioner unit should it fail, or a new refrigerator. I've had it at another home previously and it’s like any other insurance. It makes sense.

Initially, the issue was the AC wasn't cooling the house so that's when we put the ticket in. We had a technician come out. He went outside and when he came back in from looking at one of the units, he said that their company did not work on this unit. The next day, Chesapeake Comfort Systems came out. The first day, the guy replaced something and he had to clean the evaporative coil. They charged me 175 bucks for that and we were thinking that it was gonna be working. They did fix one side. One side was working but the upstairs wasn't cooling. They came back out multiple times. Then they said it was a motor and one person couldn't get the motor off. They decided to order the entire part. Yesterday was when the part came in and they replaced it.
The issue is yesterday after he replaced it, we put it to 75. This was early in the day. Later on that night, it finally dropped down to about 78. When the technician left, it was on 80. It took four or five hours to get down to 78. This morning here in Maryland, it was a little chilly. The room temperature was at 75. I dropped it down to 70 and when I woke up, it was on 75. As of right now, it's on 74. If it is working properly, it would definitely be on 70 by now. I don't think it's resolved 'cause I feel like it's still not cooling properly. If you set your temperature for a certain degrees, how long should it take to get there? It shouldn't take eight hours for it to go. Also, if they had a little more information as far as the brand or the model of the unit, this issue could have been resolved a little sooner.

I was having a problem with a ceiling fan, and American Home Shield sent someone out who diagnosed what the problem was. Although they were not able to do it because it did not adhere to my policy, I was not aware that that the ceiling fan had a lifetime warranty on it. They assisted me in getting in touch with the company and providing the model number and the information needed such that I could get the part that was needed to fix the fan. When the part came in, American Home Shield recontacted the person who came out initially with the diagnosis, and they came in and installed the part. I was very comfortable and satisfied with how they handled that overall situation.
There were also two or three times in which I was not comfortable with who was sent out and I asked American Home Shield to resend someone else. I didn't think that that that provider was competent based on their diagnosis and they did send someone else out. I've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years and any issues or concerns that I've had, they've been able to resolve. If they continue being able to do that for all of their customers, then they're fine.

I called on a Friday morning and Arizona Trade Masters came out that day and fixed the AC. But two days later, it broke again. It was a different issue so I can't necessarily blame them for that. This happened Saturday night so I called AHS first thing Sunday morning on their emergency line. It was around 10:00 and I waited till noon. I didn't hear anything. I called them again at noon and whoever answered the call told me they would have somebody contact me within the next hour.
The wait times are ridiculous. I sat on hold for at least an hour every time I called them. Then 2:00 rolls around and I called back. I sat on hold and got through to somebody. They said they were gonna contact three different people from their list and one of them should contact me. So I waited another two hours. Nobody contacted me so I called back again. This is now somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00 on Sunday. I told them that I needed to get my AC fixed. I have animals and a kid. I couldn't sleep or leave animals at the house in 100-degree weather. They said they have extinguished all of their resources. At this point, I needed to contact and find somebody on my own and then call back and get approval for them to fix it.
I called and called and called and called and finally got through to somebody. This was now 7:30-ish and they showed up at my house. I tried calling AHS. I sat on hold for 35 minutes and I was over it. I was gonna deal with them later. So I had the tech fix it and I paid the bill. I called AHS the next day, which would have been a Monday, to try to work it out. They said they would have to have somebody call me back but nobody called me back. I called again on Tuesday and said that I needed to talk to a manager. I sat on hold for an hour and 45 minutes and the phone got disconnected because they were gonna three-way somebody and no one did. After that, I had my girlfriend call because there was no use in me calling. I was all worked up. She got it to where we emailed in the copy of the invoice for the repair because the fan motor went out. From this point forward, I haven't heard anything back from AHS and I'm out of pocket $1,000 on it.
When I had an electrical issue in my kitchen, AHS sent somebody out and fixed it right away. Everything went great there. So when my bill came around the next year to renew it, I renewed it even though I paid them more than it costs for them to have the outlet fixed the first year. But they took care of it. They did great the first time I dealt with AHS and the first air conditioner problem. But now, I'm waiting to hear back if they are refunding me the $1,000 that I had to dish out to get my air conditioner fixed on a Sunday. I paid them the $600 a year right away. They don't gotta wait for it. But I'm stuck in this predicament. I understand it was on a Sunday but we're two weeks from then and I haven't heard a thing. At this point, depending on how this situation goes, I'm probably gonna look for a different home warranty program.

My air conditioner stopped working and the tech sent by American Home Shield who came to look at it didn't tell me what the cost was exactly. I had already paid $100 to AHS to have that tech come out and then he was saying the whole repair was gonna cost $900 because I had to pay for the Freon. It was better for me to get a new unit instead so I had that priced. AHS offered me $700 for a new unit which cost me over $7,000. That was disappointing as one way, it would cost me $1,000 if I go with AHS but then the other way, it would cost me over $7,000 for a completely new unit and AHS would only give $700. I talked to a couple of techs and they told me that when the condenser or compressor of a unit goes out, it would be an expensive part for an older AC unit. Regardless, I'm disappointed that I'm paying close to $100 a month for the tech to come out and because Home Shield, doesn't cover plugs, caps and Freon, it would cost me close to $1000 when I'm done. If AHS would have fixed my issue for $100, I would have been okay with things. This is what keeps me thinking whether or not AHS is something I wanna keep.
More recently, my dryer latch was broke and they it wouldn't close. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Precision Appliance repair. The tech who was sent was a really nice guy who seemed to know everything. However, what he did didn't resolve the issue and he had to order a part and come back. While I've been teetering whether or not to keep AHS because of the issue with the air conditioning, so far, AHS has been good and professional.

It's easy to submit the claim, but the follow-up is horrible. You can't call in because nobody answers ever. I was on hold for over an hour and they kept saying it was gonna be an hour wait but it never went down. I did that three times. So you can really only submit online and there's no follow-up. If you have any issues, you can't follow up. You have to submit an email. Then I got a bill and I had an outstanding balance of $75 that they kept submitting, saying I owed but I already paid it. So that was when I kept calling and I couldn't get through. I sent an email and then finally, it just disappeared with the invoice. But there was no follow-up to the email. There was no getting in touch with them. It was very difficult. We've only had one claim with them and I'm kind of leery to even put any other claims in.

The AC unit was not blowing out cold air. Plus, there was a loud almost clicking noise coming from the fuse panel. The guy from Budget A/C, Heating & Plumbing thought it was the compressor 'cause it was trying to withdraw too many amps. He tested that and saw what it was, and he replaced that. Then that stopped the clicking. AC is working great. We also had an issue with our hot water heater, and they came out, it couldn't be fixed, so they replaced it. I'd tell others to look at the age of their appliances, AC, and heating units. If they're old at all, having AHS is a good idea.

I had trouble with my oven. The element of the broiler wasn't working. I called AHS. It took forever because they were not there now. It was very hard to reach and communicate with anybody. They got back to me and they selected the guy who called me. But the guy was a heating and air conditioning guy, he didn’t do an oven. But they had already billed me because he accepted, whatever they do with him.
I called the contractor back. I said, “You need to tell them that you’re not an oven guy, you’re a heater guy.” He said he would. I stopped payment on it. Then I called AHS back and got the oven guy that could fix it. But it took weeks because it’s COVID. He came out, and then he had to get the part. But he came and my oven’s working now. He brought a new heating element. I haven't had any problems with AHS. But when I had a bathroom problem, they counted it as two problems, like the tub water and the sink water were dripping. So I paid twice, but it was the same plumber, the same visit. But other than that, they’ve been okay.

When he initially had done it, only one side of the water heater was working and not the other. So, they came back the very next day and fixed that. Everything has been great since. Hot water is important, so the repair has helped a lot. I love American Home Shield. We've had them for 11 years now and I tell everybody about it. I always use their website to file a claim and it's easy.

I got discouraged with the home warranty I had been with for a while. They had come out and fixed some plumbing like faucets. But maybe the policy changed or they changed things that they no longer did that service. My daughter-in-law was with American Home Shield which she also recommended to her mom and dad. She told me about the company too and I gave them a try. The only thing is that she stated that she paid $75 for when someone would come out every time the service was initiated but I pay $100. My daughter-in-law told me that even her parents don't pay what I pay. I'm like maybe American Home Shield signed me up for the highest plan.
American Home Shield sent out LA Appliance Service for my icemaker and my washer. They were great. Their tech came out two or three days after my claim was made and he was an hour early. He looked at what was needed and he ordered parts. The parts were the ones that took the longest for them to have. They were supposed to be scheduled to come out and I waited all day. I then called their office and asked them if somebody was supposed to come out. The girl apologized and said that the parts didn't come in yet. They would call me on the day they do come. That was a little bit annoying.
But for the most part, the gentleman that serviced the washing machine and the refrigerator was very professional and courteous. He was being safe and was using his mask and gloves. I was pretty happy with them. Everything's functioning just fine. The only thing is I was wondering why American Home Shield couldn't get someone that was in Kern County, like in Bakersfield, to come out.

I was very satisfied with American Home Shield and the company that they selected. It was quick and easy. We didn't have to buy a new dryer, so that saves a lot of money and time.

I got my date and Kinston Refrigeration called me and scheduled an appointment for that. They came out in two days after I filed the claim and they diagnosed the problem. The guy said he needed to get ahold of somebody at American Shield to approve the repair. There were two things he needed to get done. He did that one when he came out but they had to order a part for my refrigerator. I had to call them to find out because the guy told me it would be a while. The lady checked on it and told me they had to go across the state to get the part. She gave me an appointment and she said if it came in before that, they would come out which they did. They came in and put it on so I had no issues with it.

Home Shield sent South Placer Heating and Air to handle my issue and the tech who came to handle it was great. We were originally with 2-10 ‘cause that is what the owner of the house went with as part of offering the house warranty. I've seen different ads and different things for American Home Shield, and when we had other people come out through 2-10, they said American Home Shield was one of their better clients that they've had that's why we went with them. American Home Shield is great. They are extremely efficient. They take care, they listen, and their website is easy to use so I can figure out where I'm going. It’s easily navigable. That is always nice that it’s able to do that.
Carolina Air and Heating came and did a great job. They fixed the issue with the AC unit. There was also a clog somewhere along the line. It was causing backup water issues in the house and they fixed that for me too. Scheduling me didn't take long at all. I did the claim that night and that next morning the lady called. This is my first time with American Home Shield and the first contractor that represented them left such a bad taste. He came to my home, went in the attic, and left stuff unhooked. He did part of some outside and left some as well. By the time I called American Home Shield, they tried to contact him. That took more time, and then they couldn't reach him. He wouldn't return their phone call and I couldn't reach him as well.
I was trying to get American Home Shield to give me somebody new and it went almost a month before I could get a new vendor. That's the only issue I had with them. I had to call them and I didn't think that it was my responsibility to call them over and over again, or to have to call the contractor. I was ready to cancel. On the other hand, the American Home Shield people that I spoke to were very courteous and helpful. They couldn't do any more than they could as far as the telephone was concerned. Also, the second contractor they sent was excellent and I certainly enjoyed them better than I did the first one.
TC Homes called, stayed in touch and let me know when they were gonna come out. They also called me and told me when the part was in and when they were gonna put it in. They then came, put it in, and my AC has been 72 degrees ever since. They were courteous and they made sure that everything was properly working before they left. With this claim, everything went well. The person came out, was very professional, solved the issue really quickly, educated me a bit about what the issue was, and lasted less than half an hour. He had a mask on, and they also had gloves on. However, my claim prior to that did not go well. The problem was with a basement drain. It was backing up. The tech cleared that out and they thought it was coming from the air conditioner because it was extremely humid and off of our AC pipe. It was like a flowing little river. Once all of that cleared up, I then found out that the water heater, which is next to it, is now leaking.
I put a claim in on a Monday a couple of weeks ago. I expected someone to call on that, but no one called. I finally called the company that was supposed to come out to look at the water heater. They came out last Wednesday. They were supposed to call before they came, which gives us time to put masks on and stuff, but they did not. They just showed up. It took about five minutes to look at the issue and the tech decided that it was leaking and that it needed to be replaced.
I called that company back a couple of days later saying I haven't heard when they will come out, and they had explained to me the process that Home Shield orders the tank, and when it's in, then they would give me a call. And I still haven't got a call. And now, it looks like it's leaking in two spots on the water heater. I was gonna wait until this afternoon to give them a call to see what the update is on that. But I haven't received any emails or anything regarding that one. That company does not seem quick at all. Hopefully when they come in, everything can be resolved quickly. It's making me nervous now that it has been over two weeks that we've seen that it has been leaking and I'm trying to get it replaced before I have a catastrophic dumping of water in my finished basement. Other than that, I've had several claims in the past and every other company seemed quick.

They said that Wind Bender would be the person to come out. I asked if I could call them directly because I had no hot water. The rep said, “Yeah, you can call them directly.” She gave me the information. She said, “They'll schedule with you if you wanna expedite it.” So, I called Wind Bender and said, “When can you get here?” They got here the next morning to take a look at the tank.
It took them forever to get the quote. Luckily, we had got it relit or else, I would still be without hot water since this thing started. I still don't have a new tank. I'm not super happy to the point where I'm probably gonna cancel my home warranty with American Home Shield. When they gave me the quote, it was $1,000 out-of-pocket for me. It was all of these parts, and this, that, and the other.
I have a friend who's a certified plumber. I called him and I sent him the invoice. He was like, “No, this is ridiculous. See what they’re gonna pay you for your hot water tank. I can order you a tank, and I will do the labor for free. So, that was what I did. I called back to American Home Shield and I said, “What's the buyout that you can pay me so I can buy me a hot water tank?” The rep said, “Well, I don't know. I have to find out." Then it was three days later before somebody called me to tell me what the buyout was gonna be. He told me what it is and he said, “Oh, that'll be 7 to 10 days before you get your money.” Right now, I keep relighting the hot water tank hoping that it still lives until they give me my money, so I can order a tank and have my friend put it in so I don't have to pay $1,000 out-of-pocket for labor.
It was like they were charging me $275 for a valve. They were charging me $230 for a helper. It was ridiculous. This whole claim started a month ago. I would be without hot water for three weeks because there's no sense of urgency on anybody's part. Every time I utilize my warranty with them, first off, I have to pay $75 for somebody to come out even if it's to tell me nothing's wrong or just a quick fix. It's still that deductible on top of me paying the $60 some a month. All in all, after all I spend for what I get in return, I would not recommend American Home Shield to anybody.

I've always liked American Home Shield especially the security of knowing that things are gonna get fixed or replaced. A lot of people can't afford giant appliances if it goes bad. So it's nice knowing that it can be taken care of and it's usually a fast turnaround. Affordable Services did good on my washer and dryer claim. My washer and dryer would rattle which might be a sign that something was wrong. But it made that since the day we had it delivered. Then for some reason, my washing machine sucked the rubber boot off and cut the rubber boot. They had to order a new rubber boot. It took about a week, from the time they came out and then order the part and then came back and fixed it. I'm pretty satisfied and now, it doesn't make any noise. I only had one bad experience and that was with Sears.
When we bought the house in 2013, we had a stove. The stove was already in. The heating coil went out. But since the time that we had it, the timer dials just quit working and it never worked normally. But the guy from Sears who was out here was talking down to my wife 'cause I wasn't in the house. He said that they were preexisting conditions. My wife was saying that the bake on it went out. When we tried to explain it to him, it was in two steps. But then they were trying to treat it as two different trouble tickets. It's one oven. The tech was very rude to my wife. So I called American Home Shield and said that I didn't want Sears back in my house.
The Sears tech put the bake element together. But all the other things that we saw that was bad with the oven, the tech was saying that they were preexisting conditions. Then American Home Shield called back and said that since the tech deemed everything was preexisting, they were not gonna replace or take care of anything. But when I set the warranty up, everything in my house is preexisting unless I buy a brand new and then put it underneath the warranty. The technician was just rude and didn't seem like he wanted to do his part of the job.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience all the way around.
I did my claim over the phone and it was a super easy process. They quickly got on it and they put me in contact with the McCormick. That was my third claim through American Home Shield. I've had to repair my garage door opener and also the icemaker on my refrigerator. So I've had very good luck with them. I've been very satisfied. The service I've had with American Home Shield has been wonderful. Being my age and being a widow, I need someone who's gonna tell me the truth and someone that can be there for me for repairs. It's very beneficial to me.

I submitted a claim on a Friday with AHS for my AC and the contractors came out Monday ‘cause they didn't make that over the weekend. The timeframe was okay. It wasn't an emergency because they knew that I had an upstairs unit, so we just stayed upstairs for three days. But given the time of year and how many air conditioners break every day in the valley, it wasn't bad. I've had it done before and it took just as long usually, unless it was a complete outage. Then a couple of times, the contractors came right away that day.
The guy who came was really professional and smart. He was clean-cut, polite and took good care to put his shoe coverings on every time he came in and out. He was wearing a mask too. I had a bad vendor years ago for a water heater issue. I called in and let them know about it. He said he fixed it but he didn't. He didn't do anything. Then AHS was gonna send him back out. I said, “No.” Then they sent somebody else and the guy walked in and said. “That guy didn't do anything.” The second guy fixed it in five minutes.

We've been happy with American Home Shield. They sent people out, scheduled appointments when we had problems, and if the person they sent out wasn't able to take care of a claim, they would send somebody else out. Their claim process is very easy and user-friendly too. I just go on their website. In my prior claims, I spoke with their reps because the issue wasn't resolved. They've all been fine. American Home Shield does a great job. For one of my claims, they sent out DMV Pro Tech and that went fine. They were quick to respond and they took care of the problem. They were professional and the repair went very smoothly. They explained the issue and their tech was very good about walking us through that.

For an electric issue I had, American Home Shield assigned my claim to GJC Electric and they were excellent. It was a minor repair that needed to be done. The guy showed up on time and did the repair. It's working fine now. GJC was the second company that came. The tech from the first company that showed up on Saturday afternoon at three o'clock was from a different state. He seemed rushed. I thought the repair was fixed correctly but it wasn't.
I called him on Monday and he said that my unit needed a whole new circuit panel to run back to the circuit breaker box, which I knew wasn't accurate. The house is relatively new. It's 22 years old. It’s according to code and everything was permitted in code when they built the house. There was no way that it wasn't run properly. I asked how he knew what the code is for Deptford Township. He said he didn't know but he was pretty sure that that was what was going on. It's like, “Well, you're from a different state. You're from Pennsylvania. You're not from New Jersey, and you tell me what you know, that the local Code requires to have a direct line all the way to the circuit breaker panel?” He sent me an estimate for $1,100 dollars to do it.
And American Home Shield is horrible. They wanted to charge me an extra $100 for a second opinion when I knew that the first opinion was inaccurate. Also, with their call center to get someone through, you wait on the phone for about an hour. The people are in a foreign country. I asked to escalate the call and speak to someone else. I wanted to speak to someone in the US and they said that wasn’t possible. I had to wait 50 minutes on two different occasions to speak with someone just to have them read canned responses to me on the telephone. The reason why I went with American Home Shield was because they were more expensive. I thought that the service would be a little better in terms of just being able to speak with someone and explain what was going on. Is this really difficult? It's very distasteful and I'm not happy with it at all.
Thank you for contacting us in regards to the electrical issue you have faced. We do appreciate you for sharing your experience. We would be more than happy to assist in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

We bought a home in Arkansas and with the home purchase came a one year 2-10 warranty. We renewed it after a year ad we were gonna try to give them the benefit of the doubt. But on the second year, we dropped 2-10 to return to American Home Shield. Unlike 2-10, they don't seem to be trying to refuse every claim. They get right on it and they wanna get you taken care of. 2-10 seems to try to get out of answering our requests for repairs or for service. We had American Home Shield for at least eight years in Washington State and I've never experienced that.
Recently, I had a couple of leaky faucets, one that couldn't be repaired so it had to be replaced. It was a weekend that I submitted the claim with American Home Shield and it was the next business day that the contractor contacted us. They called us in three or four days before the guy could get out. With it not being critical, that wasn't a problem at all. However, I was kind of out of the loop for a little while then the contractor suddenly showed up one day with a new faucet for us. It left us wondering for a little while but in the end, everything is wonderful. We're very pleased with the technician who came out and worked on our faucets. It was all good.

A's Appliance Repair came out the first time and they just sprayed the microwave down with some cleaner. They left and then that night, it started doing the same issue, it was like sparking. We called them back and told them what happened. They came back out two days later and took our microwave back to their shop, cleaned it, replaced the part, and brought it back. It's been working fine since. They wore a mask and they gave me a call 30 minutes before they came out. They were very punctual and professional.
I like the fact that American Home Shield got our appointments a little sooner than we would've been able to get it because we tried to call a vendor first. We didn't know we had to actually look on American Home Shield to see if our appliances were covered, and find out as they were, and AHS got us an appointment really quick like two days. We were very satisfied with it. It was totally worth the monthly payment and the $75 deductible.

The AC is supposed to be working but the contractor couldn’t repair it. American Home Shield will repair and provide the parts but I have to pay the technician and it’s a big amount. It’s $950, which is too much money. So, AHS gave me another option to see if I would qualify for a cash out to see which one would be better for me and more convenient. I’ve been waiting for the answer to see if that will be worth it or will be less money if I find a different technician who would charge me less money. This technician wanna do some modifications but they were too many because the air conditioner was working okay. It has been almost two months and those were the hottest months.
I've been happy with American Home Shield for so long. I’ve been using them for three years and this is the first time that it has taken longer. I understand about the Covid but we have suffered so much heat. That was my son’s apartment so he had to go to my house and stay there. I told AHS to put in an air conditioner and to make a hole in the hole is better. He will be in his private zone. So, that was what we were gonna do. But when I called AHS, the other air conditioner, because it was too hot, broke down as well. We were looking everywhere for air conditioners but Lowe’s, Home Depot and Costco didn’t have air conditioners in that point of time when we tried to reach one. American Home Shield has always been so fair with me and this is the only time that they’re being kinda slow.

They're good plumbers. That's why I specifically requested them when I called in. I was well pleased. I have been well pleased with the way Home Shield has handled my business. It's what I expected from a good company. However, after a year, they raised my monthly rate by almost $10. I used to pay 44 and it's 53 now. I got one service call that I have not been able to resolve as of yet. I was on the phone with them this morning regarding it. And I don't really know what the outcome was because I got put on hold, and I couldn't stay on hold. I had to take another call. So, I was planning on calling them back and try to figure out what's gonna happen with that last call. We’ve had five calls, and four out of five has gone without any problem. AHS has been good to me. You wouldn’t be with someone for 20 years if they're not. They always treated me right. Even when I had a rented house, before I had this house built, they covered my rented house. Even when I talked to them and I explained something to them about this one particular air condition guy, and I told the rep, “Even I walked up there one day and I saw that he had left the thing off and I had to call him.” I told them, “I don't think we need to use this guy anymore.” They listened to me.
For my recent claim, everything in my bedroom, my bathroom, where the commode is, the outside, the lights went out for three days. I couldn’t put any plug in. I called and had the electrician come out. Now, all of a sudden the lights came on by themself and he asked that we smelled anything before it went off. I said, “Yeah, we had this funny smell.” He said, “Did anybody slam a door or something like that?” He said that it may be like a screw loose. When it got overheated, it expanded and didn’t connect. Then once it cooled off, and when we slammed the door, it went back together again. So he went around and checked everything. He said that since it was back on, he could not find it. But once it goes off again, then we'll call him, so that way he’ll come out and he’ll be able to find out which one is not working.
So the other day, my bedroom, the bathroom, the family room, the dining room, the hallway and the porch went out again. When he came back this time he said that he checked all over, then he went to work. He said this time it was the switch that had been popped. He said, “Probably it’s been turned off.” I said in the beginning when it first went off, my bedroom light first went off, I went out there before I called anybody, before I called AHS. I said, “Maybe, it popped, the circuit breaker,” because I had my other heater on.
I looked it all up and it didn't see them pop, so that's when I called AHS. Then he came back. I was telling him, “Go on at the garage.” It wasn’t popping like someone turned it off. He said it was hard for him to find it when it comes back on. He could only find it when it's off ‘cause then he could know which one it is that’s not working. He was explaining to me, he said that it was a screw that got loose, and when it gets hot, it just expands. He said, when it gets cold there’s so much time to do to connect again.

My downstairs AC unit wasn't blowing out any cold air. I put the request in with American Home Shield and I got a phone call the following morning letting me know when the contractor, Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning, could send someone out in their earliest convenience. The guy came through at the appointed time that they said they were gonna come and they were very efficient. The guy got my air back to working and running within an hour. We were very pleased with it.
American Home Shield's claim process is pretty easy as far as going online and typing things in. It usually comes back really quickly and I get a email confirmation and a text message. It's pretty efficient. The only thing with Americna Home Shield is if the service is not gonna be covered under the warranty that the service technician sees is a problem, then the service fee should be refundable. I got American Home Shield's three-in-one coverage where it kinda hits everything. There was one circumstance where my garage door wouldn't open up and they sent someone out. I paid the service fee, which was $100 at the time.
When the person came out, it turned out that the material needed to be replaced but the part was not covered by American Home Shield. I had to pay out of my pocket to that company for them to do that service, plus they still kept my $100 service fee for American Home Shield. Other than that, it's better to have a home warranty than not to have one. If something happens, you'll be regretting once you have to come out of your pocket thousands of dollars.

When the AC first went out, we called the company we have a maintenance contract with. They came out and they replaced one part. Then another part was gonna cost like $900 for them to replace it and they had to order the part. That was when we called American Home Shield. Island Breeze HVAC came out and everything went fine except that the air conditioning’s not working again. So, I've put in another call, and Island Breeze is coming out again this afternoon to take a look at it. When the contractors were here the first time, they didn't need to come in the house. They wore masks and they stepped back from the door.
I have felt pretty good about American Home Shield up until the last three weeks. We've kinda had a little black rain cloud over our house here, and our refrigerator went out. We have not had a refrigerator for three weeks. We've had three service repairmen from different agencies come out. The first one replaced a part. He said it was not the compressor. He replaced some part, and he said to wait 48 hours. When I opened the refrigerator, it was hot. He told me to keep something in the freezer so I'd know it had refrozen. It had exploded, so I had to clean all that out.
I called the company again, and they sent a different repairman from a different company out. He said, "Oh, this guy should not have put this part on here." It was either the wrong part or he installed it wrong. He said, "I don't think it was your compressor. I think it was this part. Let me order another part." That took like a week. He came out and put that on, but that didn't do it, because then it kept tripping the fuse. He said, "Oh, well, now I think that first part damaged the compressor. So, I don't do that work, so you have to get somebody else." AHS sent out a third company.
Now, every time they come out, they've been pulling the refrigerator out. This time, the tubing to the icemaker broke. The tech said, "It is your compressor. And we don't do that, so you have to get somebody else. And you'll have to get a plumber to come and fix the broken tube." Meanwhile, I had water all around the refrigerator. I have hardwood floors. So, I got that cleaned up. He clamped off the tubing. The home warranty sent out a plumber right away. They came like in a couple days, and they fixed that.
Trying to call in to AHS is very frustrating because you have to go through this whole loop of recordings and then wait to get somebody to talk to. Now, the home warranty is good about saying, "The wait is this long. Leave a message, and we'll call you back." That's very helpful. Also, the two people that I've talked to in the last two times were very nice. They were very helpful but not helpful enough. The first guy couldn't tell me anything. He did tell me that the plumber was on the way and that they had sent the referral, they were gonna give me a replacement refrigerator because they couldn't fix it, and that I needed to call the replacement division. That was a two-and-a-half-hour wait on the phone, and they don't have any callback. So, I have not been able to get through to them.
I called the main number again, and I got a different person who was very nice, but the connection was so bad. I could hardly understand what she was saying. She called me back again to try to make it better. She did confirm that the replacement order has been put in, but I have no idea what's happening with that. AHS has done some things well, but this refrigerator is maddening, so I wouldn't be able to recommend them right now. In fact, my son just told me they were looking for a warranty company, and I said, "I gotta tell you, I've got kinda mixed thoughts from this one right now."

Before you purchase call their claim/customer service # and see how long you sit on hold 888-429-8247. If you want to purchase a plan, you get through within seconds. It’s a joke that they even offer a 800# to contact their company. Who has over an hour to wait.. This company is a complete joke. I have been a loyal customer for over 4 years and I had 3 claims this year, 2 were denied. The only reason I stayed, I hate change.
This last one, I went over 3 weeks to find out it wasn’t covered. Waited on hold over 4 hours during that time. First contractor came out and didn’t have the tools, so they notified AHS to get a different contractor. They said AHS would contact me. After 3 days I had to call, twice, each time waiting on hold for over a hour. Finally get someone on the phone with AHS and she looked at the file and schedule another plumber. Two days later the contractor contacts me and IT'S THE SAME COMPANY THEY SENT OUT FIRST! WOW!!! This entire time, I have no kitchen sink, garbage disposal, or dishwasher. We did all our dishes in the utility room with the kitchen having a foul smell.
Finally get a contractor out here and asses the issue. Come to find out the “foundation shifted” and needed to dig under the house... $$9200 is what they quoted me and I waited for AHS, waited, waited, 4 days past and now I’m coming up on 3 weeks after I initially filed the claim. So I decided to call knowing I’d be on hold over an hour and I was... Then I find out ZERO of it was covered. Asked why I didn’t receive a email or a phone call. “We sent you a letter, you should receive in 5 to 7 business days." AGAIN...WOW.. Great customer service!
Since AHS covered zero and this new plumbing company wanted half upfront $4,600 which is what SWAT plumbing (in the DFW area), I decided to call a friend that owned a plumbing company.. Came out, was here for maybe 30 minutes, and fixed the problem. Cost me 137 but I lost the premium I paid AHS, the deductible I paid AHS to send out inadequate/dubious contractors, time on hold, and worst of all..the time I didn’t have a kitchen.

My dishwasher wasn't powering on. I went on American Home Shield's website to submit my claim and though I found what I wanted to submit a claim, I couldn't find what I needed to know after the claim was submitted. After I fill out their form, AHS immediately sends out a text message saying that I will have a technician contacting me. On their website, their platform tells me to contact the technician. So, if I'm just operating off text messages, I could potentially wait a several days before I realize I need some intervention.
I also want AHS to allow me to choose which technicians I want to use. Their contractor from Lake Area Appliance came out to my place four times and did not fix the problem. I could not get anybody on the phone either. I waited an hour and four minutes and AHS is suggesting that the difficulty is due to COVID. They can't just blame it on COVID as they have to put things in place to alleviate that kind of call waiting time. I filed a claim early on July 7th and until now, my dishwasher still doesn't work.
Their contractor from Lake Area Appliance came to my place and lied to me. They said they changed the part needed but they did not. We could see the corrosion on both sides of the dishwasher. There’s a panel on top that has two strips that make up four different computers. That it has a separate computer to operate it. The replacement never happened and AHS should have called. I was on hold with AHS for almost an hour and finally I got someone. I told them that I no longer wanted Lake Area at my home and that I wanted to choose my own contractors. Home Shield makes their vendors buy the needed parts for a repair. They give them a break on the part but then they have to order the part through AHS. Any part could be had in a day or two. With AHS, customers and contractors have to wait on parts for three to five business days. So, if a customer has an appliance that is not working, they will have to wait a week to get their appliance fixed.
The owner of Lake Area Appliance claimed that Home Shield would not allow him to buy all of the parts needed. Someone from AHS should have contacted me because they can see that I keep going in their system. They know if the job order is complete but in this case, my issue is not resolved. So there is confusion as to what AHS accepts as complete and resolution from a consumer standpoint. When AHS sees that someone is ordering parts for the fifth time, they should be getting involved. Lake Area Appliance had been at my place four times already and no one from AHS had contacted me.
My washing machine went out in late July and the vendor that came out, True Vine Appliance, thought the problem was a certain thing and talked me through that. With AHS, when I get someone on the phone, they are accommodating even though they are not stateside. The rep I got said that what I was experiencing should not be my experience. He told me that he was gonna call me back but he didn't. Still, the reps switched my vendor to True Vine Appliance and immediately sent them out. Regardless, Lake Area should be removed as a vendor for AHS.

The first guy who came out for an AC issue was very nice. I asked if I could get something in writing. He said that because of the virus, they weren't putting anything in writing. But he told me what he was gonna report. He said that he was putting in the report that I needed to get a new air condition unit. But when I called, I got a whole different report than what he told me. I even gave him a good review and that was not what he said to me when he left.
The first guy reported that my air conditioner was unrepairable and the damage of my air conditioning unit made it unreplaceable. They looked at the cage of the air conditioner and said that it was unreplaceable because of the way it looked. It’s an ugly duckling but it works. From them to say it was not replaceable made me mad. They said that it was because of the cage. But the outer part ain’t got nothing to do with the inside working fine.
It was like 90 degrees and I was burning up. I had to call other folks to ask what I should do. My dad took a picture and said that the wires right there were bad. That was what the first guy said too. We also had a guy come out and said that our answering machine needed to be carrying 24 volts. But we were only carrying 22. So that could be a fire hazard to us. He said that we would need to get that box replaced. So I also asked the American Home Shield guy if it was enough voltage for the air conditioner and he said that we were fine.
American Home Shield said that I could put an appeal and have someone else from a different company come out. This other company would not see what the other one had written. The second guy came out. He saw where I had gotten this little round piece and I told him that before I called American Home Shield, I had already gotten those wires replaced. So the second guy said that the only thing we needed was this other thing replaced. He said that he was gonna play around with those wires and put some new wires on and this should get the AC to work. The little bearing thing had already been in place. The second American Home guy stayed up there for about 30 to 40 minutes and he replaced the wires. My AC has been working since then, but I’m scared for it to run.
I didn't want to turn the AC off because I was in the fear that if I turned it off, it might not come on. So if the temperature dropped a little bit, I didn't turn it off. When I go to work, I just pray that it’ll come back on when I come home because I don't want a fire to come. Overall, the experience has been inconsistent. American Home Shield sent something to me asking me to refer somebody for a referral fee. But my son's girlfriend recommended American Home Shield to me. I asked them if she got a referral fee but that didn't happen for them. So I wouldn't refer anybody because of that.

The AC didn't cool properly. The company that came out was a great AC group. They were very courteous, kind and safe as they could be. I like AHS. They've always been courteous and on top of it. Sometimes, if the guy comes and has to sit and wait for a response, it takes time. But typically, everything's great.

There was a leak in the sink so we submitted a claim with AHS. I was contacted immediately by the contractors. They just had to schedule something. The contractor that came fixed the problem. He was on time, was professional and got the job done right. We've gotten our money's worth from American Home Shield, for sure. We had a water heater replaced and that by itself was worth at least one year of service. I'd certainly recommend AHS. I'll probably use it again when we purchase our next home.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

Our recent claim with AHS was good. The technician was great. She got our system running and checked everything while she was here. She was very nice. Explained what she was doing, took care of the issue, went outside and checked all the gate. Just to make sure what she did, then took off. She was good.

When I had no air, the first person they assigned to my case said they couldn't come out till the following week. The heat index was 105. So I called American Home Shield and said that it was not acceptable. I have underlying health issues. She told me to hold on a second and she was gonna find me somebody. It took her a while but when she got on the line, she said the company would be calling me within the next hour. She went above and beyond.
When the tech from Mel's called me, I told him that I had no air and it was hot. I was miserable and I have underlying health conditions. He said that he could be at my house in 45 minutes and he was here within 40 minutes. He rang my doorbell but then he stepped back so that I could talk to him within six feet. He fixed the issue in about 15 minutes and cool air came out. He was wonderful. He was very professional but he was also personable. He explained to me exactly what he did and he was good. I will definitely recommend him. But the plumber that AHS sent out here was a disaster. He was horrible.
I had a water leak. I paid my $125 and they told me the water leak was outside. I knew that it was not covered and that it would be out of pocket but at that point, I told them to go ahead and fix it. They dug up half my front yard and I was without water for four days. When they finally found the leak and fixed the leak, they left behind the biggest mess you can imagine. They told me they would be back to clean it up but that didn't happen. Throughout the four days, they would say, "Okay, we're going to be here at like six o'clock in the morning. We don't wanna disturb you." But they would show up at 10:30. It was a nightmare. It was a joke. Once they got started, I didn't wanna call it off. Also, I noticed when I sent the tech's check, it was to an apartment. He didn't have a plumbing office.
Most of the time, he would take other calls and leave his nephew in here digging. Then his nephew slipped and fell in the hole at one point. Most of the time, when he was supposed to be digging, I looked out and he was on his phone. He threw up in the bucket. Afterwards, I got a friend to come over and he power washed my driveway, my sidewalk and my front porch. I've had good response when using AHS and I've had nothing but good luck, except for that plumber. I've had dishwasher problems, oven problems, heat and air problems, and everything has always been fine. I recommended them to a friend and she signed up for the service.

I was having leakage come from my air conditioner unit inside of the house. The tech went outside and he cleaned the outside air conditioner unit. He said something about my filter was so dirty that it clogged up one of my lines. So he went outside and he unclogged the line. He sprayed the unit off outside. It was simple but he did a great job. Everything is working perfectly. I like the quick response of American Home Shield. I put a claim in and the tech was out here in a day or two. So that was so awesome for me. I liked everything about my warranty that I had with American Home Shield.

I’ve had two problems and I filed a claim to American Home Shield. Our water heater was leaking. It was rusted and it went out, and they had a warranty claim come over first. Then they ended up replacing it and it was good. But as far as the air conditioner, we had left for a while and my neighbors let me know that it was not working. I went home and I felt it was really hot. The air conditioner was just running. The fan wasn't running anymore. We had somebody come out and they fixed it. Then it worked for a couple of days, and then it quit again. Somebody recently came out and fixed it again. We haven't had any problems with it yet. American Home Shield's claim process was all right. The only thing was just the $75 service call fee. It was a little expensive.

I had an AC claim to American Home Shield. The guy from Fast Response came in and thought he resolved the issue. But then he came back and he was able to resolve it at that time. No parts were needed. I am up and running. The guy was very courteous and extremely professional. Doing the claim to American Home Shield was fairly easy. I called in because I did not know what to do and the rep told me to do that online, so I did. It was pretty quick. The only problem I had, which maybe was something I just didn't read, was the company just had a short period of time with no one available on the weekends. So I went Friday to Monday afternoon without the air conditioning working. It was hot. Luckily, I had a backup AC so it wasn't that big of a problem.
I called American Home Shield to see if there was someone else that could come out. And because I already filed the claim, they didn't want to change it because they said it would be too much work to do to change it. Other than that, everything got done pretty quickly. It was a good experience. I would recommend American Home Shield to anyone. My friend just signed up as well.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

Submitting a claim was a pain because if I’ve had an email or something that has a secondary number, if I went on the American Home Shield website and used the number that was there, I'd still be on hold. It's ridiculous. The first thing I called about was just to get keys changed. I tried to submit that and I still yet to hear from somebody to come out and rekey the house.
The second one was the air conditioner that went out. I understood what was going on, but they only wanted to fix the specific part that was broken and they were not gonna replace it. The unit's old although at the time, the unit was a top quality product. It was my impression that they were gonna be replacing it with a bargain replacement product. Somebody spent $500,000 on a house, the expectation is that they would not put cheap replacement stuff in there. They'd only replace the part that's broken, not replace the whole unit. But I would expect that they would replace it with product that is comparable to what they're removing to the house itself.
Then the biggest issue is they don't pay for the refrigerant. The refrigerant is $60 a pound and they only reimburse $10. When using 13 pounds at $50 a pound, that starts adding up to a reasonable amount of money. I also don't like the way their system is set up because when trying to initiate the claim, the first thing they try to do is to get a copay out of you. My point would be, that would be great once we have defined the scope of service or what actually needs to be done. Other than that, with my recent claim, Hers and His Plumbing came out and did a good job. They checked and heard our complaint. They looked at them and fixed them, and there was no problem.

I just moved to my new house yesterday and I had a whole bunch of problems. I submitted claims with AHS for the plumbing, toilet, HVAC system, and an electrical socket. They got all that fixed and my experience was very good. The only thing that was annoying was that the guy that fixed the toilet said he was going to upload something to American Home Shield, but he never did. I also couldn't get a hold of his company and when I called them, no one ever answered. So, I hired another plumber just to verify that the work he did was correct, then I had to pay $80 and I had that plumber write a receipt for me for that amount. Other than that, submitting claims with AHS was pretty easy and my interactions with the techs were simple. They knew what they had do and they solved the problems quickly.

I don't know if it's on backorder or what's the deal. But everything was excellent as far as them coming over and doing what they need to do. They get an A-100 for that particular company. The things that AHS has done for us in the past have been fine although I don't know if it's because of the pandemic we're having this issue with the cooktop. But it's definitely not anything to do with their technicians coming out and doing the work.

I did the claim through a portal when the dishwasher stopped working. The tech came out and tested it. He walked me through the whole thing and he was pretty quick. It was really easy. He was professional. The part that was required to fix it wasn't available. We got the key card pretty quickly after the tech filed the rest of the claim for us. So American Home Shield sent us a Home Depot gift card and I was able to buy a new dishwasher. They gave us the option of them reimbursing us after we paid for it, but we didn't think that Home Depot wouldn't have such a small collection for Reno. The one we really wanted was not in stock at Home Depot and we couldn't get it mailed from another store, so it was kind of a hassle going through Home Depot, but it's fine. We got a nice one.
American Home Shield's website is good but I'm trying to submit the receipt and there's no way to upload it. I tried calling and then it was a 40-minute wait. My AC wasn’t cooling and it was leaking. I went through the appointment through the American Home Shield website. It was easy but I was able to tell them in detail only when they called me. When you do the claim, it doesn't let you explain what's going on. It only gives you a, b or c and you can’t express what the issue with the AC is. But other than that, it was quick. I got a text message from AHS letting me know the day that the appointment has been set. Then, I had to wait for a call from the contractor for them to tell me the time they would be coming out. So, it was a two-step process.
South Belt A/C & Heating, the contractor for the AC, had to come out a couple of times because the problem kept coming around. They checked it and they explained. They took me out there to the compressor and showed me what was wrong. They didn't just fix the issue. Everything has been good since the last time they came out. I haven't had any issues and everything's going well with the AC. Prior to them coming out, I was informed by another company that they were gonna have to change the entire thing.
