My mother called me the day before I did the claim and said that she came in from work one morning and her house was warmer than normal. She said she tried to turn the air down and said it was set at 60 degrees. And whatever was outside, it was in the house. I had a few questions and with me being a truck driver, I'm on the road, so my mother was the primary one that had to talk to everybody about everything. She said the reps dealt with her perfectly. They were very respectful and helpful.
The contractor was supposed to come one day and we had real bad raining going on. So, the day they were supposed to come, we had to push it off. I reached out to them and said, "Hey, I'm looking at the weather. It's supposed to rain." The rep said, "Okay, fine. Let's push it out a day just to be on the safe side." And everything was good. They fixed the issue. They found another issue that was about to cause another problem, and they went ahead and fixed it too. The repair extremely helped because my mother keeps my son every day and little kids don't need to be running around hot.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

We saw water that we thought had seeped out through the rock on the house. We also thought that there was a leak in the slab and we needed that checked out. We sent a claim in to AHS and the contractor they sent out was really good. It was the owner himself that came and he was very professional. But it turned out that there wasn't anything to repair and that the problem wasn't in the slab. He did several tests and determined that it was in the faucet on that side of the house. On the day that we saw water, we had the sprinkler hose up to the sprinkler and it was leaking under the faucet. So it was really simple and there wasn't much to do. But he took care of it and we were really impressed with him. Other than that, we've had other problems but we've called and found that they weren't covered by the policy. There was a problem with the electric range and a big a exhaust fan in the attic that they said were not covered.

I had a claim with AHS for my AC unit and when the guy came out, he said that they were going to order something for me and get it replaced. He said to give it a couple of days and American Home Shield would be calling me. So, I waited a week and when I didn't get a call, I tried to call them. They said they haven't heard anything from the contractor, May Heating and Air, and when I asked them what I should do, they told me to just wait for them. So, I waited two weeks. But then, I'm still here with no AC up in my bedrooms and I live in Charleston, South Carolina. And I didn't even know if the tech got it approved to order the part. Other than that, AHS has been perfectly fine. This issue doesn’t bother me though I wish my AC was fixed.

My daughter has Home Shield and she suggested I should get into it so I signed up my rental home and now, I have my own house signed up as well. I had claims for the plumbing and the air condition on the rental home. The plumbing claim was okay but I had a terrible time with the AC claim because it was on a Labor weekend. The contractor was short-handed and my renter had to wait four days to finally get the AC fixed. I wasn't happy about that. But Home Shield helped me a lot when I had issues contacting the contractor. They did what they can do. It just happened to be the wrong time and it was hot here in Nevada.

Home Shield's service is very valuable because both of my claims were for my AC unit. Recently, they sent out Blizzard Air and everything was great with them. The tech was very knowledgeable, professional and got everything done as fast as he could. I got ahold of American Home Shield on Friday evening and they had the AC fixed by Wednesday afternoon.

The AC wasn't working and the coolant wasn't registering if there was any there, which usually means a leak in the line. The tech from Air Climate Solutions came out in a couple of days. It was a heatwave and he said he was really swamped and he apologized. He came out and said there was a piece that was broken on both units. He replaced it and it made the coolant register. He was good. He wore a mask and was very respectful of distance and everything. The AC has been working great. We also had a rekey done through AHS and so far, it's been fine. This morning, I submitted another claim. I did it online and the navigation of the website was great.

We don't use Home Shield that often. But when we do, everything seems to be in order. The problem that we had was the water was not exiting the washing machine. The tech from Holiday Business Group came out, did a few things and showed me that we had problems elsewhere, and then left. We used our washing machine the next day and it did the same thing, when the tech supposedly found the problem, and it was not the washing machine. So, come to find out he forgot to plug the pump back in and that took care of it. That experience was unusual because something as simple as plugging back in put us out for a few days waiting on the contractor to come back to repair the washing machine. But everybody makes a mistake and I understand that.

I've had some pretty good service with American Home Shield but lately, it's been kinda hard to try to get things communicated. I just recently got my Home Depot eGift Card for the replacement of my dishwasher and I still have to physically go in the store and do that because they didn't have the one that I tried to purchase. I had to call and I waited on the phone one day for like four and a half hours to try to get someone. This was several attempts. Also, I had a hole in my ceiling from when DrainGo came out to try to find out where a leak was going. I never got the guy to come and fix it. It turned out that he was from New Orleans. The service has kinda taken a hit around the pandemic. Before that, I could call somebody and get a human on the phone.
Other than that, the benefit comes in very handy, especially you never know when something is gonna go wrong. The main line coming into my home going underneath the slab was damaged and water was shooting straight up through the concrete. It was coming up through my wood floors and was going up the walls. It went up the walls almost about two feet all the way around. In the washroom, the whole cabinet had to be ripped out and rebuilt.
DrainGo fixed the leak. I had to pay out of the pocket for more because there were two lines that had to be rerouted. Also, they left the ground outside, where the hole was, kinda nappy. But maybe it was because the guy was by himself and he had a lot of work to do. He worked a total of two or three days. They should have given him two or three more people. But he got it working. I tipped him because I could see how intense the work was. Overall, I was satisfied with the job getting done because it was a bad situation.
El-Marco,
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

So far so good. American Home Shield is probably the best thing close to an extended warranty. I have put in two claims and both of them have been fixed. Recently, I put a claim in. They said this person from this company was gonna get in contact with me and they called in two days. They got this guy to come to my house but he didn't even have the proper tools to do the job. He had to use my tools to finish the job. At one point, he had to leave to get a tool that he forgot and came back. With Home Shield, you pay a deductible of $100 then you pay $40 a month. If I'm paying $100 deductible, the gentleman should do the job. I had to help him with the washer, like lift the washer up from the laundry room and put it in the garage so he could work on it. But the washer is fixed now. It's running really good.

The washing machine was making a noise like the tub inside was disconnected. Glyn's Appliance Service came to fix it and they couldn't. But this has been going on already for like four weeks for the first time they came. They said they had ordered a part for it. After that, they said that they either not make the part that they had ordered anymore. We had the washer and dryer in the same situation. I already replaced the dryer. The repair was done by Glyn's Repair. Now the washing machine was the same thing. They said they had ordered a part, and then they contacted us, and they told us that they were gonna submit a replacement or a claim to Home Shield because they don't make that part anymore. Then they called us back and they said that the insurance company had decided to go ahead and order the part. This is where we are right now.
I’m waiting. We never received an email from anybody. All we received was an email from American Home Shield saying that they had ordered the part for the washing machine. The contractor responded within a week since we contacted American Home Shield. When they responded, they were here on time. They were here at the time that they said they were gonna be. Other than the things that they indicated were beyond their control, it was just a matter of that it's been too long since we haven't had a washing machine. I really don't blame them for it.

AMP Mechanical has been very patient. They've been out a total of three four to five times. The first time they came out, there was a pin broken inside of the valve. They fixed that, added some leak stop and put in some refrigerant. Then the second time they came out, they did the leak stop again, put in a little bit more refrigerant the next couple of times. Then this last time he came out, he said that there was a wire that had broken, and he repaired that. He’s very courteous, very professional and explained everything perfectly. Right now, it's good. When I have been having problems, it worked well for the first couple of weeks, and then it kind of went back to that blowing out warmer. It's not cold air. The temperature gets hot in the house, it cycles and doesn't turn off.
I really appreciate American Home Shield in general. They're very timely. I've had been trying to get through on the phone line. There were a couple of times on different things besides the air conditioner where I was on hold for a good three hours. But they had explained they were having some computer issues. I finally realized doing it through my account online and it has been wonderful. Doing the claims online has been much more productive.

The water was not coming through the dishwasher. I had the plumber guy here first and he didn't know what the problem was. He told me to call the appliance guy. Then the appliance guy came within two days. He got under the sink. He said the water wasn't turned on. He turned the water on that the plumber couldn't figure out. The dishwasher works fine.
The plumber comes back 'cause he still hasn't finished the job that he should've been done with. He got the ice machine and the fridge working. But I have no water in my bathtub and that's the one he's out for that same day. He said that there was no cold water in there. Well, that day he came there was a water main break in town, so there was no water pressure. He told me to call him when it comes back on and it's still not fixed. I called him that night and said the water's on and heard nothing back from a week. Then I called and said that I got this thing from Home Shield saying the job is done. He said he didn't hear from me. I told him that I called and left a message. He said that he has to get a new phone.
I still do not have water in my main bathtub. I called and the lady I spoke to said the part is en route. I asked her why they couldn't call and let me know, and why they didn't just put a new piece in there. She said that she didn't think my insurance would cover that. I asked her if she was telling me that since the 18th of August until now, Home Shield doesn't cover something till I have water in my main bathroom. She told me to check it with them then she asked if I wanted to cancel and I told her no since the part is en route although that could still be another nine days and I still haven't heard from them.
I wanted to make sure that after they're done with this one, if I ever have a problem again, they're not coming to my house. The guy cost me $75 that I would not have had to pay 'cause I paid for the appliance repairman to come and turn the water on. But the plumber should've done it. I should get $75 credit from somebody. The lady was supposed to call me back from there when she finds out who's gonna give me my $75 back and I still haven't heard back from her either. I had Home Shield one year when I lived in Clarksville and it was good there, that was why I got it again when I bought this place. My son got it again here too. I'm gonna tell him not to let Bubba's Plumbing come to his place.

I had an issue with the latch in the dishwasher that opens and closes. Also, the dryer wasn't drying properly. Gary, the man who came out, ordered the part for the dishwasher and told us to have the vent cleaned out on the dryer, which was done six months ago. There was an issue where there was a bend in the vent so, we had Sears come out to do it and they did a good job. The parts came in and Gary came back to repair the dishwasher. It's perfect now. He looked at the dryer again to make sure that it was working well. He said that it was as good as it could be now. Sometimes, as it gets older, it doesn't heat up as much as it used to but he double checked that. He moved it away from the wall and made sure that Sears put the pipe on when they did the vent cleaning. Gary was excellent.
We got American Home Shield with our home when we purchased two years ago and then we stopped because we were gonna sell in March. But the Coronavirus came and we had to take our home off the market. So, I came back to American Home Shield and signed for another year. Last year, we had two terrible contractors. So when I signed this year, I told them not to send Cooper Appliance again and the people who came out to service my air conditioner because they broke it. We had to pay for the repairs. So, they have that restriction on my contract. This time when I called for service on the appliance, I went online and it went right to Cooper Appliance. So I called in. I was on the phone for an hour but they put me through to Sears with no argument and I got great service.

I had a plumbing issue where there was a problem with an apparatus. The issue was it was not draining and the tub was not draining. I kept waiting that maybe it was going to go but it did not. I lost a lot of my hair and the people that lived here had a lot of hair. I guess it was clogged. I called American Home Shield very early in the morning. They did very good. I don't go online because I am not very friendly with the computer. Also, I’d like to hear the voice of people. I don't like that emptiness between me and the other side of the web.
Air Pro Master was my given contractor. Their man was professional. He wore a mask and booties. He went in, went to the place where the problem was, did the stuff, and resolved it fast. There was no soft talk. It was very good and I am very happy with it. I was also wearing a mask because I like to protect the person that's coming to my house. I'm glad that there are people that come to your house to do work because Cox Communication does not. It's very hard when you live by yourself and you have repair to be done. Prior to this plumbing claim, a garage man came and repaired the garage. I had to pay him extra because there was one more stuff. Also before, I had a guy that came and repaired the microwave. Everything was fine.
But why is this that now, every time that somebody comes to your house to do something, you have to grade? This is for everything now and not only American Home Shield. When I buy something or when I go to the bank, the bank sends me messages asking me to grade the person that attended me. I guess they’re trying to keep the employee and they want to know if the employee is doing a good job. When American Home Shield calls a contractor to go do a job, I can understand that because I have a company for a long time. Sometimes the employee is with you and he's not doing a good job. It's very hard. When you have a business like this, the customers are the graders so they do a very good job.

Mister Freeze came out and they said the AC in my rental unit was working great. But two days later, it stopped working again. So they came back out on Monday and fixed the capacitor. I haven't heard anything since. It was a little unfortunate that they don't do work on the weekends. They called on Saturday and they scheduled it for Monday. But it was a really, really hot weekend here in California. The house was over 100 degrees inside, so the renters were pretty uncomfortable. Another thing that was a bit confusing was I did not realize that AHS doesn't cover the cost of Freon for the AC unit. It cost me 650 bucks. But so far, AHS was pretty prompt in getting somebody out there.

In the past couple of months, the experience with American Home Shield has been terrible. It's been a very frustrating experience. We have a claim for the wall AC unit since the second week of July which has still not been closed. It's such an extreme hot weather in the past couple of months working from home and waiting on the claim. The contractor came out and recommended the replacement of those units. I was told at least five, six weeks ago that the order has been placed and the equipment will be delivered to the contractor in a work place which never happened.
There was not a single person working on the case. Each time I called, I got ahold of new person. They assured me that they'll monitor the case but it's like going back and forth, back and forth. I was following up with them almost every other day or every day. I've made at least 25 calls and it was taking more than an hour each time to get ahold of them. There is also something going on with their internal departments. When I call customer service, they say they need to get ahold of their HVAC department and vice versa. They are not even responding to the contractor who came out and recommended the solution. I was checking with the contractor and he said he tried many times and he has provided all the information that American Home Shield was looking for multiple times.
We are customers with American Home Shield for a few years on a few accounts and they used to be really good. In a couple of other claims, they were fine. But with this claim, I’m extremely disappointed. We were telling them, “If you don't fix this open claim, we’ll have no choice but to seek for legal opinions on what to do.” I would greatly appreciate if someone from the higher up can look at this claim and at least close this claim.
Manoj,

The faucet underneath was leaking. I tried to tighten it up myself when I first moved here and get everything fixed, and it just wouldn't tighten up. So, when the gentleman from Bill's Plumbing came out, he diagnosed it a little bit more and found out that the washers and stuff were rusted. He put in a whole new upper faucet. I didn't want the generic one because it's a custom home so I purchased the upgraded one and he came in and put it in with no problems. But when you go to take the nozzle of the faucet and turn it off, it sometimes leaks. So, you have to wiggle the handle in order to make sure that it's not leaking. Because if you just push it up, it seems to keep leaking. I'm hoping that would eventually go away.
I also had a claim with the stove. The gentleman came and looked at it. All the parts came in but we found out that it only needed one relay. All the other parts were excess. So they took that and now they're just waiting for the other part to come in again. Hopefully, it'll be in the mail in the next week or so. AHS has been great. It was no hassle. I've owned other homes and usually, you get the run around for a minute or you're playing with computer systems and things of that nature. So I was leery at first and I was gonna try to do the work myself. The previous homeowner said that AHS was fantastic and suggested I call them and get them to do it instead of trying to do it all myself. So I appreciate it.

When we renewed our home warranty last year, we got a discount of $150 for renewing it earlier. So, we took advantage of that. But then, AHS billed us for the next three months, telling us we owed them $150. And it took four phone calls to resolve that and we finally just threatened them to put a stop to the issue. It made us hesitant to retain their service and we didn't like the cost anyway, but getting the discount was really helpful. And we haven't made up our minds if we're going to go through that again. But, we've been very happy with the service provided and we have not been disappointed with it.
Recently, we had an appliance issue where On Point Service Company came out. They were awesome and very quick to respond. They did what they said they were going to do and were very easy to work with. The installer that they sent out quickly identified the problem, said that he'd get it fixed for us, and told us when it would be done. Then, it happened on that day. He came back, finished it, and it was well done. The appliance has been working great since the service, too. The first time that my wife submitted the claim for the air conditioning, there was a problem with the website. So, she had to go back and do it again but she said it was simple and straightforward. Our upstairs air conditioning wasn't cooling our game room and our media room. It was determined that the unit itself was functioning as designed, had plenty of Freon and it was cooling just fine. But when the home was built, there was no adequate ventilation put into those rooms to cool it down. There was only one register in each room and the rooms are so large that they needed more volume there. So, the contractor came out, checked the system and did a consult. Those people called me, but they were trying to go home when I wasn't there. I told them I was at work so they said they would call me back to reschedule. But I never heard from them again. I was gonna give them a call and have them reschedule somebody else. Overall, American Home Shield is really good. I referred some friends to them not so long ago.

The contractors that came out for our recent claim were outstanding. We did not have any difficulty with the submission process with American Home Shield. The claim was for the refrigerator that went off. It leaked water and quit running. The contractors looked at it and did a little something but it didn’t work. I called them back the next day and they came out promptly and diagnosed it, ordered the part and came back last week and fixed it. They did an excellent job.

I submitted a claim with AHS because both toilets went out at the same time. The pump was skeeting water all over the place, so I had to turn it off by the valve. When the contractors got here, they had to replace both of them. There were no issues. It's working great now. It's been really easy submitting claims online with AHS. I tried to call on this one situation. I wasn't on hold, but it took a long time to get a representative because I thought I was being charged twice, but I wasn't. Once they assign you that contractor, they still wait a while before they charge a card. That particular week, so much was going on. So charges were constantly being charged. But it got resolved. It wasn't an extra charge. It was just that week was a busy week for the contractors. My experience with AHS has been excellent. I haven't had any issues.

I would recommend American Home Shield. The warranty service came with the house that we bought and if I were selling the house, I would get the warranty program. I would do that because there isn't anything wrong and I'm confident about it. If something did go wrong and people are getting old and out of shape, they just call in the program and American Home Shield will take care of it.
The gentleman who came out for our AC was Roman and he did a good job. We were told he was going to arrive at such and such amount of time, but he was around the corner. He came 20 minutes early and we were on the road to get here, so he had to wait. We knew that he was gonna be in the area and we wanted to be here. Apart from that, he checked the whole system out and he repaired it. He made sure it was running and made sure everything was fine.

I've been getting excellent service from American Home Shield. Sometimes I submit my claims online, and other times on the phone. I have to wait quite a while to get ahold of a person on the phone, but online, it was very easy. When Rex Appliance Services came out, everything went good. I stayed six feet from them, and they had their mask on. They were in my utility room, and I went over whenever they needed me and they knocked on the door to tell me what was going on. The part that turns the washing machine round and round, the smaller part in that was broken, so they repaired that. After that, we called them back out again because the machine was acting up, but there was nothing more wrong with. It was just out of alignment and they took care of the problem.
Hi Lonnie,

I had some stoppage in two sinks and also had a issue with one of the toilets where it would run then stop then run to fill the tank up periodically. We'd hear it going on and off. I filled out the online portal that you go in and click all the stuff that you have issue with then pay 100 bucks right there. The contractor was fairly quick. They responded within a day or two and were out at the house within a couple of days. They were very professional. They're probably one of the better contractors American Home Shield has sent out to my house.
When the installer came out, he kinda messed up the way the sink was installed. The guy just used the plumbing that was there and reconfigured it to be within code. For the sink upstairs, I did kinda miss that one but he told me that it was plugged in the wall. He checked the trap and it was a little past the trap so he had to blow it out. I'm still waiting for them to come out for the toilet. They replaced some items inside the toilet but it didn't prevent it from running. It was still trickling. They had to order a new toilet. I had an issue with American Home Shield with my air conditioner that I'm still a little dissatisfied with. In fact, I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and they did call me and said they were gonna refund my $100 but I haven't seen it in my credit card yet.

I've been with American Home Shield for years and it's been fine. However, when the website asks you what's wrong with your appliance, it doesn't give you an opportunity to tell them what's wrong with it. It gives you options to choose from and sometimes, I notice my option isn't on there. Recently, GE Appliance came out for the oven. Every time I turned it on, it did an F3 sound. The guy said because it was so old, the parts could no longer be found. They're now ordering an oven. They sent me pictures of what to expect and we went from there based on the dimensions I gave them.

My daughter was brushing her teeth and she turned the faucet and something snapped inside and it started gushing water. So I went under the sink and turned it off. DNB came out and fixed it. It was pretty routine. But the plumbers that came before them were rude as hell. American Home Shield never followed up with those two plumbers. One of them told me that I needed to call him before I did any work. Our house is 21 years old. It's the same hookup line and it was original equipment. For him to say that I was doing something, it really left a bad taste in my mouth. He came back for a problem similar to that one and he was acting like he was happy. I tried to install a bidet toilet lid and I ended up stripping something. He said that it wasn't gonna be covered under American Home Shield and it would be $75. He told me it wasn't normal wear and tear. He had to replace it. But I didn't get my bidet in. It’s just sitting there.

Patrick Murphy Plumbing texted me the next day and said they could come out that day but I wasn't available, so they came out the day after. The service was fast, prompt, and professional. When they got here, my husband showed them the garbage disposal that wasn't working. The guy went in, kinda cleaned it out a little bit, took out something that went in there and it was fine. I filed a claim in the morning and they came out the following afternoon. It was great.
This is our second year with American Home Shield. We used to have First American and it was horrible. American Home Shield is so much faster. I seem to get a much better response online and much better quality of people coming out to our home for services. We haven't had a lot of issues thus far, knock on wood, but everybody that we've had has been good. However, it's 100 bucks each time the contractors come out. With First American, it was less expensive. A few times, I've had to pay the $100 for them to come out and it didn't end up being broken like the garbage disposal. On top of that, I also still have to pay the yearly fee for American Home Shield. There are also all kinds of stipulations. It's still a good deal but I wish there was a slight price break in the per service fee for them to come out.

My wife and I have a young baby and we wanted him to take his shoes off and he said it was not an issue. He offered to take his shoes off to walk around the house. We were happy about that. He did a great job and the AC is working great now. Also, I was unaware that if the same issue wasn't resolved, I wouldn't have to pay the $100 co-payment again. I was pretty excited about that. We originally purchased Home Shield through the purchase of our house, and we held it for a year. But then we bought all brand new appliances, and they all had warranties. So, we took a break from Home Shield until those warranties had run their course and then reinstituted. We've had American Home Shield back now for about six months. As far as submitting claims, I'm glad they vastly improved. The first experience we had back when we first bought our house was the long wait times on the 1-800 number. Now it's click here, click there, describe the problem, boom, off their website. Then it gets sent through your Gmail and then it goes really fast. A lot of the companies that are out there are kind of a horse apiece. We went back to Home Shield because our previous experiences with them were fast and it's much better now that they can do it so much quicker.

There was a leak that was coming out from upstairs so there was some stain on the ceiling from downstairs. I called it in and the rep was very helpful. The contractor came, opened it and looked where it was coming from, and it was from the drainage from upstairs. The guy from Keyliam and Sons was really good. He was very nice. He explained everything that he was doing. If I asked him a question, he was very polite in answering it and explaining it.
The very reason why I called was first was I didn't know if the leakage is covered under my contract. I wanted make sure it was covered. The other reason was I was not happy with the guy who came in for our AC. At first, he was very nice. When I started asking questions, he became very rude. I also had so many out-of-the pocket expenses aside from the $100 deductible. Lately we have so many problems that we've used it. With our water heater, we also had a huge out-of-the-pocket expense. I was really fighting if I need to continue with American Home Shield or not. I didn't realize that the rate is going up every year until I saw my statement. Sometimes you don't check your credit statement. It's just an automatic payment. All of a sudden I saw it raised to 50 something dollars. From 39 to 50-plus, that's a big raise for a monthly payment.

We called American Home Shield regarding our downstairs air conditioning. Their reps were great. They told me when the contractor would be calling me to set the appointment. Air Magic came out. The issue was the coils inside the air compressor were freezing, and then they were defrosting and water was leaking all over inside of the wall where the air filter vent is. They had to bring in a part and they fixed it. Air Magic did great.
We've been with American Home Shield for several years and we've been really disgruntled with their service on several other occasions regarding other claims that we've had to file where we had a problem with one of our dryers. We have two stackable washer and dryers, and there was a dryer downstairs they needed to order a part for, and it took them three months. So, my kids couldn't use their dryer. We kept calling and they were like, "Oh, we fixed it." We were like, "No, the last we heard was somebody had to order a part and they were gonna bring it." Three months later, they finally called us and we said, "You know what, the company we had originally contracted to send out to do the work, they quit. So we had to hire someone else." It was a big fiasco.
Most recently, we called them because one of those pullout drawer freezers in my fridge in my kitchen freezes up. Everything's covered in ice. And so constantly, we're having to open it, take all the food out, defrost it, clean up the water. Then the last time we called to have someone come out and service it, they said that the rubber seal around the edge of the freezer door wasn't sealing all the way, so they fixed it. We just had a guy come out yesterday, and he put down, "Snow building up in the freezer, left side not sealing all the way. Advise homeowner to defrost freezer for a week." We already did that before even calling. We are not idiots. We know how to try and troubleshoot our own freezer. It hadn't been defrosted. He came and he was just defrosted it again.
American Home Shield is fine. The people that they contract are either great or they're not great. So, it's really hit or miss. The three-month waiting period for one little part to fix the dryer was frustrating. I have a family of six. So we have an upstairs washer and dryer and downstairs washer and dryer because we're a family of six and we have tons of pets. We're doing laundry all the time. We were down, having to use one washer and dryer for three months, because they wouldn't come and fix it. We pay our fees for the year to employ American Home Shield to be our home warranty company, and it's like, "What are we paying them for if we have to go this long to wait for something to get fixed?" We were like, "Should we just hire a new company? Should we switch to a new home warranty company? They can't be all this bad."

I was told A Johnson Heating & Cooling was gonna take a couple of days to come out and I talked to the guy and said it was really hot. I said, “Can you please get out here sooner?” and he got out that same day which I was so grateful for. First of all, it turned out that the battery was dead in the thermostat on the wall so he replaced the battery so it could read what the temperature was. I then asked him to go out and check the Freon in there (because it's an older unit) and he did. It was down a pound and he put some more in so everything was working fine when he left.

We've had AHS for about eight years and never had a problem. However, I have a second home on my ranch that I cover, and the refrigerator went out on July 5th, and finally, two weeks ago, they decided to replace it. My son's been without a refrigerator that long and he has a minor in house. Finally, the refrigerator will be in in 10 more days. So that was really bad.
I would call AHS and be on hold for three hours and then they would just drop me. We kept a record. I was on hold for a total of 16 hours of of all the calls I made. What they did was they sent a technician from Sears repair. He didn't know what he was doing. He kept ordering parts. First, he came out and said, “Well, you just need to vacuum behind it.” We knew that wasn't right.
Then my heat pump went out. In the interim, I finally requested that we had TNT. They've always been awesome with us. I told American Home Shield, I don't want anyone else except them coming out here. This was my second request. So they switched and then we started getting things done. Then my air conditioning unit went out when it was 90 plus here and that was at least three weeks ago.
TNT Ventures did all the paperwork. His office has been wonderful. They've been following up and calling. They said, “Okay. We can repair it, but you're gonna have to pay $450 of stuff we don't cover.” After eight years, as soon as that's done, I'm switching to a different company. It's been really bad with AHS. I can't get ahold of anyone that will help me. They don't process anything. I checked with two other companies that were repair people, and they said, they've had a lot of problems with them.
Some of their reps didn't do a thing. I got the rep twice, and she kept saying, “I feel bad you're going through this and you have a minor child.” But nothing ever got done. One day I said, “Just let me talk to a supervisor.” My son used to be the manager at an appliance store. He even said when the guy came out, all those times which cost the American Shield a ton of money, “It's the compressor.” A month and a half later, when I suddenly got TNT to come out, he was there 10 minutes and said, “Yes, it’s the compressor.” So it's just not been good at all. The only reason that I haven't canceled them is because I have pending claims. I wouldn't recommend AHS to anyone.

Our power kept going off in the living room. When we put the breaker back on, it kept doing it like six different times. I guess there was a shortage in the wire. It happened on Thursday night and I called the claim in on Friday. Nobody could come to us until Monday so we didn't have power in our living room for the entire weekend and that was kind of a little frustrating. That was the only thing that I would say I wish was different. But that's fine. I understand that's how it is sometimes. AHS sent Elite Electric Solutions and they fixed that. They were awesome. Overall, AHS was fast and reliable.

My most recent claim with Home Shield was for my electric furnace. However, I wasn't happy with the services that the contractor gave me. They gave me an appointment but I never had a window I was told open. We haven't moved into this house yet, and they said, "Okay. This technician will be there anywhere from 12:00 to the end of the business day, 12:00 to 5:00." But they didn’t come all the way until 5:00. So, we sat at this house all day, in a house that we haven't moved in yet. I told them that. But still, you wanna be there when somebody comes in your house. I wish they gave me a smaller window or just an exact time. All the ones that I had with Home Shield gave me an exact time.
And then, the contractor came out and didn't know their assignment. I put a request in for the furnace, and the tech went to check the AC and then got ready to leave after giving me some feedback on the AC. He said that Home Shield's warranty doesn't cover that. And then, he said he didn't know anything about the electric furnace. He went back to call, and then he figured out it was for the furnace with the add-on for the AC. So, he didn't solve any issue for me. I wasn't happy with the experience.
Home Shield gave me an estimate for $6,000 to $7,000, saying that they don't cover the AC unit. And then they put in a request for a memory board in the furnace, but I still haven't got a call back from them to see when they will be able to do that. I called them back on the AC unit because I gotta do my due diligence to at least shop around if it's gonna be $6,000 or $7,000. Before this recent one, I had a couple claims wherein things went better.

We've had nothing but issues with this house since we've moved in. We've had an open claim with AHS on the dishwasher for almost two months now. It's still not resolved. Then, there's a breaker that's overloaded that doesn't work so our power goes out every hour. The tech was fine but he couldn't fix the problem. He had to resubmit something because we needed something that he couldn't fix on site. We also had a claim for the AC that wasn't working. Choice Plumbing Heating & A/C came out and the AC works now. There are very long hold times when my wife calls AHS and even when she says that she can't wait that long for somebody to call her back, she doesn't get a call back. It's really frustrating when you don't have a dishwasher or air conditioning. But they were pretty quick on the air conditioner.

I filed a claim online to American Home Shield for the water buildup in a pan around the air conditioner and it’s easy to use when you have a claim that is in their drop-down box of issues. I was given an expectation on when to hear from the contractor, which didn’t happen. I had to call the contractor and schedule directly. C&R was great. They cleared the pipes and looked over the unit to make sure that there weren't any other issues. They handled the claim well whereas AHS didn’t. They could have communicated the claim to C&R so that C&R would have been aware of it to call me. When I called C&R, they said the claim didn’t come to them from AHS so they had to follow up with AHS to confirm it. Then they came out and did the service.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

My tenants called me to say that the AC unit in my rental property had been out of commission for three days. When I called American Home Shield, they gave me a claim number and provided a service provider. This time, I was given Plumbers. I called the Plumbers company and asked "Are you fixing the AC? Because I don't have any problems with my plumbing issues or system." They said that was not the name of the company. They sent a technician and they fixed the AC. When I asked my tenant if everything was fine, they said the AC was working.
I have three properties and all of them are covered by American Home Shield. I found them online. They are pretty good and they answer on time. But there was one time when I called for the same property. My tenants told me that the their garage was not closing properly. American Home Shield sent their technician and they said it would cost me two 275 or 265 extra because American Home Shield didn't cover the rollers. I said nevermind and I ended up calling a garage door service through Facebook. It turned out that the problem was just the cord that you pull. I guess one of the kids pulled it and it wasn't engaging. The door really opens properly. The guy who came pulled the cord and it was fixed. I asked him how much this is gonna cost me and he said it was free because he didn't do anything. But the company that the American Home Shield sent was starting to rip me off for 265 or 265. I put a complaint but they never answered.

I just renewed my second year contract with Home Shield last August. I like that I don't have to run around and try to find anybody to do the job and worry about the tech ripping me off. I like top quality work. You call people up and they claim they can do this and then they get out there and screw you around or they quote you one price, and then they get out there and they tell you another, try to up the ante. I don't have to deal with all that. All I have to do is call Home Shield, put in my order, and they take care of the rest. They just call me and tell me when the contractor will be there. I wasn't there when Intertech Maintenance came in but I've used them before and I love them. I like their politeness and friendliness. Also, they're knowledgeable and down-to-earth. I'm completely satisfied with Home Shield.

We were having issues with our air handler, and then with our AC unit. They shut down and this all happened during our wedding week. I got married two weekends ago and we were getting no support through American Home Shield, so when it comes to a rating experience, it was as negative as possible. They sent somebody who came out and lied on the report that they sent into American Home Shield. That was on the vendor that was sent out then we had a second person, and after that person came out, our unit entirely shut down.
We had another person come out a few days later as a secondary, and our entire unit was frozen, so they couldn't even come take a look at it to put in the report. At this point, we went out since we had no AC for over a week. During that hot spell, we had to go out and buy a brand-new unit. This has been my only claim and I've been severely disappointed. I renewed my policy with the understanding that we were gonna get support through this for replacing everything. I spoke to a very nice lady at Iowa and had a wonderful experience. She then sent me to over to customer service, and I immediately started talking to somebody that was a foreign person or somebody that English is not their primary language. I don't mind, but they're very hard to understand and they don't care.
I explained my situation over and over again, and it was the worst customer experience I've ever gone through. I work in sales, and we're all about customer experience. I have never had such a bad customer experience through anybody. I will be sharing this with friends and family and everybody else that uses American Home Shield until we get a resolution that we're looking for. I'm still at the point of I need to talk to somebody American.

My girlfriend called me and said the water was not working. It was either the pressure switch or the well pump. I called American Home Shield and the technician showed up a day and a half later and diagnosed the problem. They said that the electronic motor that spins the pump was stripped off at the end of the pump where it was no longer pushing water up from the well. They were out here by one o'clock. Everything went great and I got water again. It was the best thing ever.
The only thing I've ever had an issue with sometimes was being able to get to through to a representative with under an hour hold time. That was a big issue a couple years ago. I had a bunch of AC problems and it would take the better part of an hour, hour and a half on hold to get ahold of somebody. I don't know anything about that but I figured that it was good to have someone come out and check it. The guy from All Hours Emergency Plumber came out and checked everything. My garbage disposal was leaking water out of the bottom of it and then the blades seized up. I did the online service request and American Home Shield got back in touch with me very quickly and then set up everything flawlessly. Draingo came out twice. The first time, they unseized the garbage disposal and got the blades turning again, but the leak wasn’t addressed and I didn't think they knew that. When I made the follow up call, they were right back out the very next day and looked and said that the garbage disposal was rusted out in the corner and there was no way they could fix it. They put a new one in and within 30 minutes. The guy was completely professional and friendly, no qualms with him whatsoever.
As far as American Home Shield goes, great service, set up great expectations. The only issue I’ve had was when I had to talk to somebody in the call center. Of course, I've got my southern drawl and they’re in India or Middle Eastern. We had a little trouble with each other's accents. Little communication issues there, but it was okay.

I called American Home Shield out for the garage and the outside cover was removed to replace a bulb. The gentleman got the door to go up and down but it was so loud. It was rattling so bad. AHS refused to replace it because the guy could make it go up and down although it was horrible and because I didn't have the cover on it. They were saying that broke the contract, which I wasn't aware of. I could’ve easily put the cover back on. The outside cover didn’t have anything to do with the problem. So, I ended up having to replace the garage door opener myself once I returned back from working from out of state.
I also called AHS for an electrical problem. Some of the plugs didn't work and some would just fall out. The rep could’ve told me that those plugs were considered updates. The first gentleman who came out fixed some of the plugs and he said that he would be back and that he would need AHS’s information. He never called us back. Time went on and it had passed the 30-day window. I called AHS and I asked what happened to the electrical. Now, I have to pay another $75 only to be told that most of my plugs were considered an update. At this time, there is only one plug that the gentleman had fixed so, I wasted another $75.
Just recently in June, I requested a repair on a washer and a dryer. The contractor came out and it was written on two tickets. The same company came out on the same day. The technician felt that only a door needed to be replaced on the dryer, which we have to slam shut to get it to connect and work. I told the gentleman about the lights going on and off, and it took forever. I have called and called. It took from June all the way into the end of August to get the dryer/washer replaced. Now, the dryer still has an issue. I'm waiting to see if they are gonna replace the dryer or if they are fixing the panel. I got an email a week ago that the parts have been requested. There was no number to call so, I'm still waiting for the status of the dryer.
The claim has been a nightmare and it is a nightmare to get through. I have literally sat on the phone holding up to four hours. Everything is being blamed on COVID. I used to be a real estate agent. I made sure every house I close had a one-year prepaid warranty for American Home Shield because that's how much I believed in them and I've had it for the last few years myself. Due to financial problems back in ’08, my contract broke off but as soon as I was able, I had to come back again but lately, I've been very disappointed. When I do get a person, they are nice and they mean well but there were a couple of times when I requested a call back rather than sit and hold on. I did not get the call back, especially on Fridays. I've experienced that as well, dealing with the washer and dryer.
Now, not due to American Home Shield, the air conditioning is running. But I'm concerned because the unit is dripping water from up above and out through a tube that drips down over the side. I don't know if that's something that should be happening or if it is a lot because I've never noticed that much water dripping out on the side. So, I put in another request and I'm still waiting to hear if they're coming out to address the air conditioning unit again, which is within the 30 days.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

We have canceled our warranty with American Home Shield. My problem with them has been and has always been the amount of time that I am on hold. Waiting to get through to American Home Shield always exceeds two hours each time I call. I've had it with that and we are done with it. They've lost a customer and I've told all my friends. We are absolutely disgusted with the amount of times that I had been on hold.
I can't tell how many hours, in one week, I spent trying to get through the many times between contacting the appliance department. It was absolutely ludicrous. Sometimes it would take three hours and one time, I finally got through after three and a quarter hours. Then the lady on the other side said, "I can't hear you. I can't hear you. You have 30 seconds before I hang up," then she hung up. Meanwhile, everybody else could hear me for the day. After that, there I was again for another two hours.
I will never use American Home Shield again. Every time I have the opportunity, I will let people know that the wait times are what caused you this contract. I hope that they do something as far as letting people have a voice somewhere to complain. All of the telephone numbers that they give you always route you to be on hold for several hours. Their Facebook page has been taken down as far as being able to make contacts. There is no email address either. The one that you get goes to nowhere. So it was such a frustrating thing.
Patricia,
Thanks for providing your feedback. I hate that that we were not able to meet your expectations while the contract was active. We hope this does not discourage you from considering us for your future home warranty needs.

He pulled out the part in the unit that wasn't functioning. He showed me the part that was not working, and he put a new replacement in there. I'm very pleased with the service.
American Home Shield's service has been good. We're not happy with the fees. We had another warranty company, and their fees were like 65 bucks. So it's a little steep with American Shield capping of 100 bucks each time. We have done two or three things, so that's about 300 additional that we have to cough up. So far, cost-wise, we're ahead. But then we have just about four more months left until our renewal. If nothing happens until then then we are probably ahead.

Everything was solved quickly and it was a good experience. My son-in-law who lives here works on air conditioning and heating. Today, a contractor came out for a servicing. I noticed something going wrong with my furnace. The condenser is fine because it's new, but it's making a weird sound. The tech found that it is a slight issue with the relay, but it's not gone out. His statement was either it's not working the way it's supposed to or it's completely out, before we can repair anything. We know something is going wrong with it, but it has not stopped functioning the way it's supposed to so we can't repair. That's the only thing I don't like.
If you know what the issue is or have a great idea what it is, and you can repair that before it becomes an inconvenience, why would Home Shield not allow that? It doesn't make sense to me that in order to repair it, it has to be gone or not functioning the way it's supposed to function before they would allow it to be fixed. Other than that, when my dryer wouldn't start, I called Home Shield and I was told a contractor would come out within 24 to 48 hours. They were on point. BRM Services came out, and they were professional and straight to the point. The dryer has been perfect, like it never stopped working.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. When my AC had an issue, the tech that AHS sent out did a really good job. He was on time, courteous, and he knew exactly what he was doing. He looked at it and within two seconds, he had it diagnosed and fixed. Also, he remained outside and wore a mask. We were six feet away from each other. The AC is working great now and up to that last call, my experience with AHS has been good.
Right now, I'm not happy with them. I called them out for my cooktop and when the technician came, he looked at it and said that there were two igniters that need to be replaced. He said he'd have to go back to his office to write up the report, then I was contacted a couple of days later by AHS saying that they were not going to cover the item because there was physical damage to the stove. But I said it was not physical damage. It was normal wear and tear. But they're declining to fix it based on what the technician wrote and to me, it's unacceptable. The unit is 19 years old. It's old and needs to be replaced, but it needs to work correctly as well.
There was a chip in the porcelain on the top and I wasn't asking them to replace the porcelain top or to replace the unit, I just wanted it to work correctly. And they started citing all of their contract language stating that if the unit is damaged due to neglect, that they would not cover that. It wasn't damaged due to neglect and the damage did not damage the igniters. The damage was a simple superficial damage, which again, I wasn't asking them to fix. The unit itself is a hazard to my house. At night, I have to unplug it because the igniters will start ticking in the middle of the night. I've been woken up by that before and I'm concerned about the safety of the unit, but they don't seem to care.
They keep citing the part of the contract and they have not refunded my money for that service call. They have not made any amends. There has been no discussion and they're not even offering to split the 65 bucks I paid for the guy who came out, looked at the cooktop, then got back to his car and drove away. I've reached out to the service company that came out to the house and to this day, they have not responded back to me. So as far as AHS goes, I'm going to be canceling their contract. They've done a couple of different things in our house and every time has been fantastic. But for some reason on this one, they're digging in their heels and that's it.

I had a claim for the AC and the process took about a month and a half. Climate Masters was the one that completed the job. They were extremely efficient, thoughtful, and they did a great job. But we had problems with the two companies before them. American Home Shield said they didn't receive the reports from these companies and the other two companies were not able to get in touch with them. Also, when I would email AHS, I would get something back from them a week later. Then, when I would call American Home Shield, which I did probably 80 times, they would put me on hold and say that they were going to escalate it. I heard escalation about 20 times. They'd put me on hold to try to keep in contact with the other company and they couldn't get in contact with the company either. The only company that they were able to get in contact with was Climate Masters.
They ended up replacing the unit and it's working fine so far. When they got involved, it was a great experience. But before Climate Masters, I had an 80-year old woman in a house with underlying conditions in the hottest summer in Baltimore's history. So we had to take all the different precautions and do all things to make it not only bearable, but also to ensure our safety. And all the extra money it cost to do that was ridiculous. I almost would've been better to just replace my own air conditioner.

American Home Shield sent Pierson Mechanical out for an AC issue. There was a part and they fixed that. But then, I'm still having the other issue. I could sit in my recliner in my family room, and right above me, I can tell the minute the air conditioner kicks on because the lights dim and then I get this buzzing sound. It happens in the garage too.
The electrician was a very nice man, and he tried to find it but he's an older age and he didn't wanna climb up in the attic. My son did, and there's a wall there. So if we find the problem is there, then we're gonna have to cut a hole there. But he said they were gonna send Archer Electrical, and I haven't heard from anybody. They can’t find out where the problem is coming from. He did a great job at looking at it. He checked my fuse box,and it’s in good shape. Doing a claim with American Home Shield is very easy. But I hate that $100 every time you call. That’s a pretty high fee, but in case your air conditioner goes out, it’s gonna be worth it.

Recently, I called AHS ‘cause my garage door wouldn't go up. My car is stuck in the garage. I had to call somebody to bring me to my appointment on Saturday and AHS doesn't have anyone to come out until Tuesday. So, I'm waiting patiently till tomorrow. Someone is scheduled to come. I also submitted a claim for the toilet that was leaking. The service I had with the gentleman that came for the plumbing, he did excellent work. I had no problems. He was in and out. He found the issue. He was able to fix it and put the new part on. I haven't had any problems with the contractors of AHS. I’ll recommend AHS. I haven't had any issues with them.

I’m older and we don’t visit a lot because of the Covid situation but we let the guy from Medallion in. He had on a mask and the little pump for your hands. We told him that if he needed that, he should use it. We showed him what he had to do. He explained the plumbing issue to me and a part had to be replaced so he said he would be back in a few days when the new part comes in. He came back and replaced the part so he did quite well. He took very good care of it. So, we're very happy with it. I like American Home Shield so far. They respond well and they seem to have good vendors. So when somebody comes out, they seem very qualified as well as these people.

I moved into a new house and I inherited a refrigerator and a few appliances. And the icemaker on the refrigerator wasn't working. So, I thought I’d take advantage of my American Home Shield warranty and I called them to see if they can fix it. I did put in the request online. The website was very easy and simple to follow. I didn't take that much time. They did tell me about who was gonna come, and then they gave me a few dates that were open. I also got text messages on the date that someone was gonna arrive and exactly when they will arrive. The person from Sears who came said the pipe that was behind the fridge just needed air. That was all he did. He just removed the wiring that was connected for the water, and he reinstalled it. Everything is great now. It's the first time that I had service with American Home Shield, and it's great.

I wanted the house rekeyed and it was covered under the warranty with American Home Shield. Their website was great and it was really easy to use. The only thing that I found a little surprising was that when I clicked on rekey service, it didn't give me a list of people to pick from. It just picked one and I didn't get to research the guy's reputation or anything. But the guy from Lang’s Locks contacted me within three hours and came out within 24 hours and did great work. He gave us a two-hour window and showed up at that time. He also wore a mask. It was five or six doors he had to do and he rekeyed all of them. He also needed me to go buy a new lock so that they were all the same brand and they could all be rekeyed. But that wasn't part of the claim.
I was blown away by how quick and how easy the experience was. In fact, that one incident has already had me talking to three or four people about it. Our real estate agent said that AHS is the best. I was also just talking to an air conditioning installation guy and he asked me what home warranty we had, and I said it was American Home Shield. And he said that they were the best. So, I feel pretty good about American Home Shield.

I had two claims that I filed with American Home Shield and one of them I paid by check to the company that came out, one of them I paid online. That’s when I kept getting bills for those two, like I never paid them. Finally, I just had to get a copy of my canceled check and I had to get a proof from the website that I actually paid for them to quit bugging me about it. Recently, the guy from Allstate Plumbing came out and fixed several sinks. He left, but then it started leaking right away again and it progressively got worse. A different company came out and fixed it. They were wearing a mask and never really got real close. No handshaking or anything. I hope that if there's an issue, like with something doesn't work, AHS should make it a little easier to reschedule or talk to somebody.
The warranty company was miserable to work with. I would call and they tell me my hold time was over an hour, and I could request a callback. Then I would request that and it would be at least an hour before they called me back. Then the one time the lady called me back, she could barely speak English. She kept putting me on hold to re-verify the same information over and over. Finally I just hung up and I tried to call back and do it again online. I waited an additional week to have someone get out because I couldn't deal with it. I’m locked in with American Home Shield because of the contract.

The garbage disposal was broken. It had cracked. And then, my shower was leaking water. I submitted the claim online so I didn't have to call anyone, and that was very expedient. The session that I had of doing it, the end result was that they had already put my line in the queue, which is what we wanted. And then soon after that, I was notified about the company that would deal with the repair. The contractor replaced the garbage disposal. Also, the guy knew what the cause of the drip was and he replaced another part in the shower. It stopped it. He knew what he was doing. He came out, then had it done in a minimum amount of time.
Just before that plumbing thing, we also had a person come out to repair the stove, which was the broiler. And that, again, went well. He had to order the part, the part came in, he came back, put it in, it worked fine. Some other people, like my next-door neighbor, had Home Shield but then they dropped it. On the other hand, we have had pretty good service.

I didn't know the next step because after they put it in, it wouldn't expel ice or do anything. They were extremely helpful and sent the technician back out and he did some adjustments. I called him back this morning because the ice maker is still making sheet of ice cubes instead of individual ice cubes. I spoke to them and they're sending another technician out. I had a light switch in the bedroom that was not coming on and then the light in the bathroom as well as on the kitchen were flickering. I made a request by phone and the people that came out to work on it were okay even though they didn't put the switch in the bedroom back the way it was. They fixed the light in there, but they said they didn't know if putting a dimmer on was approved. My bedroom light had a dimmer and the button for the fan, and they took that off and put on a regular one, which you just flick it up and down. Overall, when I had a problem, I called and American Home Shield sent someone out to fix it. However, I would not recommend this to a friend because I have a contract that I have never seen.
I never received the contract from American Home Shield and I called every month for almost six months and asked them to send it. It had gotten to a point where I thought they were discriminating against handicapped people because they said I could go online and get it. I told them that I could not go online. I wanted them to mail my contract and I explained my situation to them about me not being able to do stuff online because of the print. I'm blind in one eye, so it's difficult for me to read. I even talked to a couple of supervisors.
I called a couple of weeks ago and they told me they didn't see why the contract couldn't be sent out and I would receive it in 10 days. It's now going into 20 days and I'm still waiting. They also renewed my contract for a second year and I would like to know what I'm paying for. I have American Home Shield on direct pay from my bank and I have a problem with people being able to take my money and not send me a contract. Judge Judy said you still would get a contract.

The technician came out to fix a leaking toilet. He notified when he was gonna be there. He took a picture underneath it, opened it and told me what was going on with the toilet. He tightened a screw and that was it. It's working fine and I'm satisfied. I was gonna call American Home Shield first and tell them what was going on so I didn't have to waste the $75 for the visit but it was very difficult to get through. It's as if they wanna be automated. It's very challenging dealing with American Shield to get an actual person. Sometimes you have the call back option when you call but sometimes it's not there.
I had a problem when the contractor came out to fix my pool. They only fixed the motor. They didn't even check the rest of it. There was a leak on one of the connections. They were very good and quick but they never reported that I had a leak. It's like I have to pay $75 every time American Home Shield sends somebody instead of a technician saying, "Hey, you have this wrong with this too. I could just fix that." It's kinda like a rip-off that you gotta notify them exactly what's wrong with it. I'm not a technician so I can't tell them what's wrong with it.

There was a bad coil on the AC and the contractor had to order it to put in there and replace it. It took almost two weeks and I wasn't satisfied with the timeframe of how long it took to get the parts. But once they got it, they were phenomenal. When they came, they wore masks and they were covered. They always asked if it was okay to come in. We were not around and the way that the house was designed, they had to go upstairs and downstairs. So, we gave them free range. As of today, the AC is perfect.
I’ve been with American Home Shield for well over a year and we have them at a rental property as well. We’ve never had issues there and this was my first time ever having to use it. I was a little disappointed initially with AHS because when I placed the claim, I tried to make a follow-up a couple of times, and I got hung up on. I don't know if it was purposely or accidentally but whenever I left the request, they didn't call me back. Nobody went above and beyond to figure out why it was taking so long so I ended up talking to the company myself. If someone asked me for companies that did home warranties, I would let them know who AHS is but I wouldn't recommend them.

My microwave almost exploded, and American Home Shield gave me an option to purchase. The process of submitting my claim was easy. I just went online and sent them a message. I put in a service request. They answered that and gave me the name and number of the contractor. I called Sears, they set up the appointment, and the repairman came out and looked at it. He said it can't be fixed and must be replaced. Sears called American Home Shield and told them that it had to be replaced. So, a day later, AHS gave me an option. If I went out and bought my own and brought it back and had them install it, they would give me a certain amount of money. That was what they did. Our heater needed replacing. ABNation replaced it and did a wonderful job. It's crazy because a week later the pump went out. They came back out and replaced the pump. From the beginning, there was a misunderstanding with the pool. I spoke to the guy and we came to an agreement. I felt that $300 was too much for them to come out and do the work. I thought so because I didn't think I would get my own electrician for a couple of things that Home Shield wasn't covering. So, my wife and I talked about it and I said, "You know, we had American Home Shield for so long and they stand behind your work. Let's just go ahead and have it done instead of including another person." So, he came back out and did a wonderful job.
From the beginning, I felt Home Shield gave me the runaround because nobody could come to an agreement. And then I backed out, so it put the claim on hold, because I didn't want to pay the $300. And then the tech sent all the parts back, so we had to wait again. It put it in the loop of, "I have to get the parts again." When I look at it, I should have just went ahead and did it from the beginning. We would have had done it over. I complained. I called and was a little upset with it. But it all panned out good.
I had a problem with American Home Shield 10 years ago. I changed the company and said, "I'm not gonna use them no more," because I was dissatisfied. I got another company but I canceled them in two months and called back American Home Shield. That's why they are the best company out there. They are awesome. I don't care where you go.

I had been in my house for about four days, and then my master toilet wouldn't flush. Come to find out the title company that did all the paperwork didn't pay American Home Shield, so my Realtor had to place like a one-time claim before the title company had paid American Home Shield. American Home Shield dispatched A-1 Rapid Rooter and they came out and did what they did to make it flush again. And my toilet flushed.
Four days later, the issues happened again. So, I put in another claim with American Home Shield. A-1 Rapid Rooter came back out and I told them, "Hey, I'm not flushing anything that I shouldn't be flushing. I don't know what's going on." They ran a camera and pulled it out and said, "Ma'am, we ran into mud. We think you have a busted pipe." So, the owner of A-1 Rapid Rooter came too and said, "Yes, you have a busted pipe. It's our recommendation that we bust into your slab and replace the pipe and whatnot."
That was close to two weeks ago. They were supposed to come out last Thursday. When they never showed up, I called and the rep said, "Oh, we're sorry. We're gonna be pushed to this Thursday," which is today at nine o'clock. 9:00 came and went and I called and he said, "Oh, well, we'll show up around noon." Noon came and went and I called him back at 1:30 and said, "I know that you guys are tied up. If you're not gonna come when you tell me you're gonna come, I just need you to tell me. That way, I'm not just waiting." So, he said that they'll come tomorrow morning. I tried to get ahold of American Home Shield to see if they had any other options, but I was just on music for 50 minutes with no one picking up.

The refrigerator all of a sudden started warming up all on its own. There was one time but we didn't call where it went off. That was my secondary refrigerator. I have a refrigerator in the garage that American Home Shield covers as an additional refrigerator. My army buddy who is an electrician came up and checked the plug. He said the plug and everything's okay. He unplugged it, plugged it back in, and it worked perfectly fine.
This time, instead of it just going off, it was still on but it was not cooling and everything inside was beginning to melt. In Hawaii, sometimes American Home Shield only deals with one person that only comes to my side of the island on Wednesday. By the time the contractor came, it was working perfectly fine so he could not tell what was wrong. But this is an older refrigerator and we were having a problem with the door. American Home Shield always wants to go to cheapest route which is a $200 door instead of replacing it. They had shipped about 10 doors and it all came damaged. In fact, the technician said GE’s not shipping doors to Hawaii without extra padding anymore because it's gotten too expensive.
After all that time and waiting, they got us a new refrigerator. But that refrigerator was still working fine. We kept it for the garage and we didn't need the icemaker. American Home Shield said they'll cover it. There's got to be something wrong with this refrigerator. I'm at the point I'm ready to get rid of it and tell American Home Shield I'm not paying them to cover something that we can't figure out what's going on.
When I was in California, to send somebody out 10 times for my stove is so stupid when the technician said from the beginning the parts are no longer available anywhere. It needed to be replaced. American Home Shield's policy is typical of an insurance. They want the cheapest way out. But the thing is the cheapest way out is to listen to the technicians that they send. They’re the other people that know better. It's like getting into a car accident. Are they going to just repair my tire when they know they have to replace the door ‘cause somebody hit it? Who wants to be confused going back and forth to the body shop because all of a sudden the insurance company says, "I’ll fix your door now,” then tomorrow they say, “I’ll fix your windshield now.” But this is what American Home Shield does.
We paid our deductible and the technician said we have a 60-day warranty. If we call them within 60 days they'll come back and look at it. But who knows if it will go bad in 60 days? That means it will cost me another $90. I could take this freaking machine and throw it in the trash and not pay American Home Shield to cover it. I don't need a fancy refrigerator ‘cause it's in the garage. It doesn't even have to have ice water and ice. It could be an old fashioned refrigerator. But it's gonna take four, five trips for them to do it. That’s like what happened with the door. How many doors had to get shipped to Hawaii that were damaged? American Home Shield would go, “Oh, the doors are all coming.” But they're all coming damaged.
I've been dealing with American Home Shield for years and I've nothing wrong with the technicians. But they would say, "We'll be there sometime between 12:00 and 4:00.” That means I got to take a day off of work. I used to work 30 miles away so that means a day off. The stove was one of those all-in-one unit stove and microwave. They don't even make those anymore. The technician said he would not be able to get a thermostat for it anymore. But American Home Shield told him to Jimmy rig it and see. Two weeks later, it was the same problem. How many days off do I have to take to get American Home Shield to understand the reason they send these technicians out? They are the experts, not the person sitting behind that desk.
Nobody from American Home Shield comes out. American Home Shield isn’t an insurance. They don't send an adjuster. They rely on the technician. If they're going to rely on the technician, they should pay attention to what the technician says. Why doesn't American Home Shield accept what the technicians say? There are some times you can put a part and it would work. That's fine. But if the technician looks, does an evaluation and says, “I can't get that stuff anymore,” then why is American Home Shield still sending him back and forth, back and forth? You have to make four trips and waste my time for it. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to somebody. They have done good, but in doing good, there’s a sacrifice.

We've had to call in once and it was fine. They said they would call or get ahold of us within 24 hours but I didn't get a call back from the electric company to schedule one within 24 hours. I had to call and schedule the appointment but that's more on the electric company's issue. The lady said she was really busy and would call me back in about 10 minutes. She called back within a couple minutes and we scheduled it from there. The gentleman that came out and worked on everything was great and consistent. He told me what the problem was and fixed it. He represented the company well.

We just moved in and we wanted to rekey all the doors and make one key for every door. The technician from Realty Rekey was very good and efficient. He explained what he could and couldn't do based on the brand of the locks that we had. He was able to do all the locks except for one because it was a different door handle brand. I also had the plumbing done. The plumber came out and fixed the faucet. He was able to detect the leak underneath the sink and get that squared away. It was awesome. They both did a great job and they were COVID-aware. Totally professional.

I was downstairs in my living room, sitting there watching TV one night and I heard the air conditioner kick off. I went upstairs to bed about 10 o'clock and it was pretty warm up there. I went back downstairs, checked the unit, and it was froze over in the furnace blowing off right where the condenser is. I submitted the claim and the guy, Eric, came out and did the work on it. The freon was low in there then he had to replace the capacitor. Eric was super awesome. Now that I've used American Home Shield, it was super easy. I called, filed the claim, and the contractor came out. It was cheaper than having to pay them on my own.

I couldn't believe how fast it was and it was awesome. I was so thrilled as well because I didn't know what was going on. The unit would work from the inside but it wouldn’t work from the outside.
I just had my refrigerator also and Sears did a wonderful job. It was purely perfect and it's fixed but then I had to wait 11 days. I called on the 18th and my service was the 28th. But when the kids shower, I'm still seeing water coming underneath the baseboard from the shower into one of the kids’ bedrooms. I had another claim when I had a problem with the AC, which finally got resolved. Once the AC quit working, the technician came out and fixed it but it stopped working. It was hard to get ahold of a human person with American Home Shield. Everything seemed to be automated and there was no way to get in touch with an actual human. I couldn’t do anything on the side of AHS so I had to wait until the AC place opened up the next day.

We had a bunch of locks rekeyed which was a service that came with American Home Shield. The technician from The Flying Locksmith was great and he was on time. The guy went above and beyond because he was so professional and courteous. Everything was seamless. I realized though that the 125 that I was charged for the call was exactly what it would’ve cost me anyway if I called them directly or any other locksmith. So, AHS didn't provide any value in that as far as the money it took to do that. Still, it was convenient and easy, and I had no issues. But in the future, I would just call The Flying Locksmith directly.
I had a horrible experience with American Home Shield on my second call with them and cancelled. I put a complaint to Better Business Bureau as well. When I had an issue, it took almost a week to get somebody out there and the person who came out was insanely unprofessional. I didn't feel comfortable with that person in my house. He was complaining about American Home Shield on the phone with me before even going out there. His review of the issues were completely bogus. This guy was saying he was gonna have to tear apart my wall to fix the problem. I ended up getting two more opinions from contractors outside of the AHS warranty plan who fixed it for a very small amount of money.
I complained about this to American Home Shield and they didn't take it seriously at all. They said it was gonna cost me $125 to have somebody else go out there and there was no guarantee that that person would have something different. When I called other contractors, they said they all stopped doing business with AHS because they had trouble getting paid by them. The process to submit claims was extremely difficult that they spend so much time doing that and they couldn't earn any money. So, any reputable contractors do not work with American Home Shield in my area and they don't care about that.
I called again the Monday proceeding this to cancel within 30 days of signing up for the service which is said to provide a full refund on what has been paid for the "subscription" up to that point. I explained the entire situation to the "retention department". They right away offered a full refund for the $125 service call. I said thank you for that but that I still wanted to cancel for my full refund since I did not want to go through that every time I needed service. They confirmed I was within 30 days and qualified for a full refund.
A few days later I received a call from someone at AHS about my BBB complaint. I re-explained everything and he also did not take it seriously at all. While on the phone, I checked my credit card and account to see if my refund had processed. Not only did it not process, but I was charged a cancellation fee and for an additional month of service!! It took two hours explaining to this person that these charges were bogus and that I had already cancelled and been confirmed a full refund. I was put on hold until he finally came back and apologized for everything and said I'd be refunded the cancellation fee, and refunds for all the subscription charges along with the $125 service fee for AC.
Another couple days later, someone called me from AHS and told me I would NOT get a full refund because I used a service call within the 30 days. THIS IS INSANE. They advertise a full refund within 30 days. But if you try out the service with a service call within the first 30 days, you unknowingly give up the guaranteed refund!!! How are you even supposed to know if you'd want to cancel if you never used the service to find out the service is unacceptable?! This should be illegal. What's worse, is they only tried to withhold my refund AFTER they noticed my BBB complaint.
It is two weeks since cancelling and they are still withholding my full refund. I have joined a class action lawsuit in the works and will not give up seeking damages until this company treats me with some humility and respect by issuing me my full refund.
Thanks for providing your feedback. I hate that that we were not able to meet your expectations while the contract was active. We hope this does not discourage you from considering us for your future home warranty needs.

Water was leaking out of the faucet so the technician came out. He saw the faucet and said it was beyond repair. At first he advised me to call the manufacturer because he thought that there was a lifetime warranty but the manufacturer didn't provide lifetime warranty because the ownership had changed. So I called American Home Shield back and told them warranty was not covered. They sent some folks back the next couple days and they replaced it with another part. That plumbing issue was ultimately fixed. From a consumer standpoint, you don't wanna fork out anymore cost than necessary but within the deductible, American Home Shield covered everything. We have been working with American Home Shield for over 2 weeks for a broken water heater. The wait time takes at least 2 hours on the phone every time we have called. If we put for a call back they do not call back. They sent someone out and they spend 3 minutes looking at it. Didn’t even try to start it. We requested second opinion and they found multiple issues. They went to the warranty company with their findings. American Home Shield when we call everyday says they can’t help but it’s covered. But they will not allow the contractor to replace it. We have had NO hot water for 2 weeks now and they won’t make it a priority. They also are charging us double as it wasn’t fixed the first time so they are charging another service fee to send someone else out.

I would not recommend American Home Shield. The first time I needed to use them my Air Conditioner went out. So I paid my monthly fee plus the $100 to have someone come look at the Air Conditioner. The Condenser or Compressor went out and I was told that American Home Shield does not cover any of the Freon or the caps to have the Air Conditioner repaired. So I was told if I repaired the Air Conditioner I would still have to pay an additional $900. This was going to be a cost every time this situation happened so it may be better to purchase a new Air Conditioner. American Home Shield covered $550 for the $9,264 New Air Conditioning Unit.
Since American Home Shield value did not seem cost effective I called to try to cancel. The first time I was told 2 hours and 45 minute wait and had it set for them to call me back. I finally got on the phone with someone who got all my information and then transferred me to account retention before I could cancel. I was on another hold for 20 minutes when Asia answered from account retention. I gave her my phone number, my email address and my home address and as she was talking she stopped and the phone went dead. I figured she had my number and all my information and would call me back, however that did not happen.
Went through all the steps once again and finally spoke to Alex in account retention. I was told total cost of cancellation contract was $180.40 plus Administration Fee for Cancellation of $49.99. I said when I signed up for American Home Shield I was under no contract and could cancel at any time. I was told that is true. They do not have contracts but this is my fee and asked if I wanted to pay it now. Since I was set up for auto pay I reluctantly paid what was needed to cancel with American Home Shield. Do not believe when they say no contract and easy cancel whenever you want. Not as true as American Home Shield makes it out to be when you sign up. I had a terrible experience to cancel with American Home Shield. Then when they call to ask for a review if you give a bad one they do not put it up and you cannot do anything about it on the website or other places. They do it themselves.
Good afternoon Rocky,

I have had a AHS warranty on my primary residence for over 3 years. In that time, we have had a few issues with our refrigerator (that's another unfortunate review). We have called and been able to deal with response that took days or so and gotten through with the use of the fridge. We wake one morning to find the whole refrigerator dead. We know it's the fuse system, we have had this issue before and we know what the problem is, but AHS submitted my claim online but had nobody to talk to. Not clear on who was coming and when. At this point in the day I have thrown out about $600 in food. So I either got someone who is going to come soon and tell me the good/bad news...or in this case, we have to wait 8 DAYS! Well, that takes the cake. Let's see here, I will do the math for you.
$576 x 3 years = $1,728.
$100 - the cost for each time you call for service = $300.
$600 in lost foods.
$300 + $1,728 + $600 = THE COST OF A VERY HIGH END REFRIGERATOR THAT WON'T BREAK ON YOU!
Cancelling service and no longer buying these warranties, they are a rip off because they get to determine when someone comes and you have no control over it. Even then, 2 of the 3 times we had service techs, they had to go order parts...
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

The 3 times a technician did arrive he spent no more than 10 minutes on a call.
I called AHS to request a new service provider and cancel the one they previously contracted. I was told they canceled the previous company and that I would receive an email within 24-48 hours with a new provider. Neither happened. Each phone call to AHS I was on hold for over an hour. I spent a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes on the phone with AHS most of which was sitting on hold. The rest was being given false promises of refunds and call backs that I never received. My wife had stored some bedspreads and comforters right at the top of the steps. The guy said he couldn't get up there. I said,"Give me a moment. I’ll walk up there and pull them down." He snapped at me. This was the first time I had a problem with a service contractor. Usually, they do okay. I called back and told American Home Shield not to send him back. I'll never allow them to come in my house again. Home Shield sent another man out and he had the problem resolved within maybe 10 minutes and it wasn’t up on the attic. He did something outside to the compressor. He said insects had crawled into the the control switch and stopped it from flipping.
I got another issue going on now. They sent the contractor down today and he was very good. The attic light went out. We put a bulb in there and it kept blowing. He couldn't get the fan going ‘cause he had to order a part but he fixed the light fixture and everything else. He had a very nice attitude. American Home Shield did okay on some of the other claims so I would probably recommend them before I end up cancelling. But you certainly have to make sure that you gotta be patient with them ‘cause the contractors don't always come out. You may have to wait a little while before they come out. A lot of times, you're waiting on them. In fact, Rapp’s told me it was probably another week before they could come back. I called back and told American Home Shield I needed to get some expedited services in so they sent another company.

SRL Services got all my parts numbers, and they're great people. They couldn't find the stove and the refrigerator parts, so AHS replaced those appliances and we already got them put in. American Home Shield is good on their service when you get ahold of them, but their wait time to get ahold of somebody is one thing that would make anybody leave them. Our clock times it on our phones, and we walk around the house. Thank God we're retired. Sometimes it's a little under two hours, and other times it's been two and a half hours. It's a nightmare to pay the premiums we do every month and have to sit on the phone to get help. Nobody should have to wait two hours. That's utterly ridiculous in 2020 and then I can't understand some of the people they put me on with too.
My friends hate the hold time as well. One of my friends just left AHS because he's been with them for years and he said he was sick of it. He said, "I'm not dealing with it another time." So, he went to another one. Yesterday, he only was on hold for 25 minutes with this new service he got and he was so happy. They also came right out within one day.
I sent all my friends to AHS and a lot of them have signed up, but they are thinking about cancelling. I tell them, "I just like it because..." and they say they ain't got that kind of time. They go, "Man, y'all must have the patience of Job." I tell them that I don't and that my husband does it, but he shouldn't have to walk around the house with his phone and for two hours. If we have to go somewhere, he stays in the car and he stays on hold. That's stressful, and that's not good service.
I've told people that we all should call and gripe at the Better Business Bureau 'cause we've told AHS on the phone before. Why do we have to sit and wait and wait to even get y'all on the phone? Now, AHS put a callback on the main number that you call when you have a complaint. Sometimes it comes on, and sometimes it doesn't. To leave your number and they'll call you back is new and then if we talk to another division, they don't even have those on the phone to call back. Who wants to sit for two to three hours? Recently, we've called back and we got the numbers. It said callback and AHS did call back.

Blue Diamond was great. They did the job in a super professional manner and in a very short time. The toilet was blocked by a toy that my son threw in and they were able to take it out. I was very happy with the way they handled it. I'm also happy with American Home Shield. We're a call away from getting things fixed.

The ice maker wasn't producing ice. I filed the claim online and then AHS called me to verify. The Sears technician came out and was great, courteous, and conscientious. He had the mask on, and he had the little footsies on his shoes. The repair was a lifesaver. I live in Arizona so it's triple digits here. I was very satisfied. I love American Home Shield and I just signed up my parents with them.

I submitted the claim and the next day a guy showed up, looked at it, sent another person down the next day and they fixed my air conditioner. They were very nice. If in the future I ever had problems with plumbing or anything and if I went to American Home Shield, I'd want to use that business that they used.

We were having gas issues where you could smell extra gas when you turn the burner on. It would change also the temperature when cooking. It would go up and down. We kinda knew it was gonna be faulty because we were trying to get it as long as we could but it was produced in ‘93 or ‘94. When the contractor came out, they checked into it and said there was nothing they could do to fix it.
I've had American Home Shield for about six years now and they've always been great. Submitting claims is very easy. The people that come out are great. We had somebody out for their garage doors. They fixed it in 15 minutes. The only issue I ran into this week was that they agreed to replace the oven because they couldn't fix it. I tried to call them to find out how to do that because we got the email, but my wife was looking on there and didn't see much ovens to go through them. So I was trying to figure out if we can get the 3,000 or do we buy something and get reimbursed.
When I called them, it was a two-hour wait. So I don't have any luck trying to get ahold of them right now. But I can understand that they're probably busy with everything going on. Other than that, the warranty has been really beneficial for us because we have a house with older appliances and the cost that it would take to have somebody respond, we're saving quite a bit of money going through American Home Shield.

Smart Appliance came out for the fridge that went out. That thing gave me so many problems, and I waited over a month before they would get it fixed. It took me almost six weeks for American Home Shield to tell me if they were gonna replace it or repair it again. Finally, they gave me another one. I am dissatisfied due to the fact that they took very long to fix it and very long to send me the check that they were supposed to send me. I even had to be calling every week.
I also had a claim about two and a half years ago with the same fridge that they replaced, and they came right away. As soon as I called them, it took about three days before they would fix it. But now, with this other one, I went through so much with it. But I guess it was because there had been a storm. I had to buy those small picnic freezers. I had them all over the place because I have milk, butter, and all those things that need to go in there. Also, out here in the valley, it's very serious with the COVID. I'm over 70 years old, my husband's 75 and we can't be going to the store every other day because all those things are going rotten. So we had to go and buy ice. That was the reason that I found it very difficult in the sense that we're going through the COVID and I don't wanna be in and out of the stores. If I continue having this issues with any other thing, I am gonna cancel AHS. But if they continue with the services like before, I'll stay with them.

I was having trouble with my AC. It would work and periodically would go out. We were trying to determine exactly what was going on. We eventually got it. I thought that the main circuit board might be the problem. It was a $110 part and I replaced it myself. I didn't go to the warranty company. The AC was working fine for about two weeks and then it would cut off. So, I noticed that I could turn the unit off and then wait a couple hours and turn it back on, and it would come back on. It would work for about 20 or 30 minutes and then cut off.
One of my best friends is an AC repair guy. The AC was able to flash the trouble code where we could retrieve it. We found it to be a thermal cut-off, which was basically saying the compressor was no longer functioning as it should. It was maybe drawing too much amperage and getting too hot, overheating and shutting off. So we already determined what the problem on our AC was and since I had a warranty, I wanted to utilize my warranty to take care of it.
When May Heating and Air came out, I left a note explaining to them the steps I had taken so they would know what the problem was and at least they could verify the problem. But the estimated costs were far greater than what I could repair it for myself. The part that's covered is expensive. I didn't know how May Heating and Air came to the additional charges, but one of them was Freon and it was really expensive. 18 pounds of Freon was like $700 or $800, which I could buy a jug of that for 104 bucks for a 25-pound jug of it. So in this particular incident, my warranty was not really working for me because I could go out and buy the part and do it cheaper than what the bill would be for them to give me the part and do it.
The AC is not repaired yet. What I did for the interim, it was cheaper for me to buy three-window units and put in my house than the $1,400 they wanted to repair it under a warranty. That doesn't really fix me long term but that gave me immediate remedy because the process was dragging out and it was 100 degrees in the house. My desire is for the AC issue to be resolved. I’ve talked to Home Shield twice now, but I really haven't gotten any kind of a formal response. I told them either they could provide me the part and ship it to me or allow me to buy the part and let me be reimbursed. They said that they would be checking into that and letting me know. But I haven't heard back.
A friend of mine had a home warranty and he had good experience with a warranty company. Then when I had problems with a series of washers and dryers over the years, I looked into getting a warranty and it was affordable, so I gave it a shot. There was somebody that I know that was using American Home Shield and had good word of mouth about them. Up until this point I've been satisfied with them. However, I've had one other incident with them that goes back to March, where Ione of the eyes on my stove went out. AHS sent somebody out to repair it. They replaced a control unit in that eye. The eye works now. However, it only works on high or off. In other words, I can't put the eye on a low setting. It only works on high or nothing and sometimes even when you turn it on, it won't come on.
So, I called back and advised AHS of that. This was right when the nationwide lockdown was going on. They said that they would get Sears to come back out and take a look at it. But for whatever reason, they never showed up. Time went on and I forgot about the stove not even working. When I called the other day about the air conditioning to follow up with them, I asked them about that and they had no record of even calling. So they're gonna get back with me on that as well. If this would be the trend where I would have to track it all down and try to make it all work for me, it would be better not to have the warranty.
I haven't heard again from May Heating and Air at all since the day that they were there. They advised us to call the warranty company, which, the reason they wanted to call the warranty company was that there were gonna be other charges that I wouldn’t expect there to be any. This is a covered item but they had $1,400 worth of charges through May Heating and Air that I would be responsible for. So the use of the warranty was almost the same price as I could go out and get the job done. It just didn't seem right. I'm dissatisfied with this.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

We're living in an older house and it has a ceiling kitchen. They had the long lightbulbs and there were eight of them in a big square up on the ceiling type of thing, and we were having issues. When we turned the one switch on, it would take forever for some of the lights to come on. So, we changed the bulbs ourselves. But that still didn't work. Someone suggested that more likely though, on the end of it, it might be burning out and that was what causing the light bulbs to burn out. Finally, we got tired of waiting for the light to come on. It’d come on for a while, wait 10 minutes, and the rest of the lights would come on. So, I just called AHS and Hoffman Electric came out. The guy changed the whole thing. He upgraded it from the old stuff we had up to the new light bulbs to where he said we’d never have to change it.
When the guy came out the first day, he didn't realize that we had such a big light thing. He only brought out all but three of the lights. He said that he would have to order them because the lights that he brought weren't the size that we needed. The one we had wasn't what normally what everybody else got. So, about a week later, he called back and said that they had the new lights, and that they were gonna bring them out.
The guy came out and put the lights in. But he miscounted ‘cause there were eight lights that he needed and he only brought six. That was okay since he got the main ones done. It worked beautifully. He did a fantastic job. He apologized and said he would have to order the other lights. But he changed everything, all up and running. He came up about a week later and put in the last two lights. And we've had no problem since. He cleaned it all up and put those little shelving things that hide the light bulbs back just like it was. He was very polite and very professional. He was there right to the minute when he said he was gonna be. He explained everything when he first came out as to what we needed and what he was gonna do.
I love these lights. They’re not really bright, but they're good enough. You can see what you're cooking anyway and we will never have to change it. I'm 72 and I'm not the greatest on getting up on a ladder. My husband can't do it anymore ‘cause he's not as strong with his legs. And I hate to keep calling my nephew ‘cause he's got a life and he doesn't really know any of this stuff that we may need.
This is the second time and that American Home Shield has saved us lots of money. The people that they had working for them were great. They got the issues done and they did it in a timely manner and explained everything. So, it's well worth the $100. I know it will cost us more than that to have that fixed and for us to change it all out. The first claim we had was for the water heater. The guy explained that all we had to do was to change out a little part. He told mee that price and it was definitely a good deal. I originally looked at American Home Shield's competitor. They are almost exactly the same, except AHS was cheaper as far as for the monthly amount and the service. AHS only charges 60 for the exact same thing with the 100 down for a service call and they covered almost everything in the house.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Somebody had done a little bit of a shoddy job routing the drain part of the AC. The AC's gonna sweat and there's gonna be a little leakage. It has to be properly funneled and it wasn't. The guy from Ultra Heating & Cooling & Refrigeration did a simple reroute which took him a minute or two. I was extremely happy. He was professional, fast and knowledgeable. Also, he took the time to explain to me how my AC really works. That was illuminating. That was a little extra thing he gave me. It was a little two-minute explanation of how the AC intakes and exhausts and how to set it. I never really knew 'cause I've never had a central AC before.
My experience overall with American Home Shield and the contractor was very positive. There was a $100 deductible and I don't know if that happens every time there's something wrong. Ours was the first time and I never really understood that or found out. I was probably told, but I wasn't listening very well. But filing the claim was really simple. I just called American Home Shield and told them something was wrong. They said they'd contact somebody and they did. The contractor came out and fixed it.
American Home Shield kicks **. There was one thing, but it may be a non sequitur. The company that was contracted to come out had to come all the way from Las Vegas and I'm in Pahrump. Depending on where you're at in Vegas and depending on where you're at in Pahrump, that can be like an hour and 15 minutes so that's kind of a long hike. The contractor said they only come to Pahrump once a week for service calls so I had to wait like four days for them. If American Home Shield had a contractor locally in Pahrump, that probably would have been a little more streamlined. But maybe there's nobody as reputable as Ultra Heating & Cooling & Refrigeration that works out at Pahrump. There are plenty of AC companies in Pahrump but I don't know if they're as good as the one that came out.

We just moved into a new house and a rekey was one of the services offered by American Home Shield. The process was really easy. You online and set it up. AHS has contracts with certain people and they have them contact you. The rekeying thing was great. The only problem I had with AHS was we had another service with them with the garage door opener and it was not repaired. I had to call and find out how to go about the next step because step one didn't work. There was nothing on their website that allowed me to do that. There was just calling them and the wait time was about 40 minutes for them to call me back. There was also trying to figure out what was covered and what was not from this particular item. AHS should make it easier to access somebody if there is an additional question or problem. They should have more explanation online or a way to go online just to contact them to get some information.

I like American Home Shield. I’ve used them twice. The first one was last year when my hot water tank decided to give up the ghost, and then this time for my air conditioner. It had totally quit and it had flipped some sort of switch in it. The guy that came out replaced that part and now, it's working good. We used to have a German Shepherd and his urine ate up the coils. The guy was very nice and polite and he said that it had eat up holes in those coils. He confirmed what we can't have and what he did was a temporary fix, but the unit would need to be replaced. We have an ancient unit and we knew that was coming, but right now, we’re neither in the position, health-wise, to redo anything or have it replaced.

American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp for an AC issue we were having. My husband did the claim and it was easy. A tech came out the next day. Everything went through really smoothly. We're working from home and that makes it easier. We don't have to take time off. The tech got there when he got there. He was very professional and helpful. He made recommendation on things that we could do to make it better. He had to clean the unit and he had to replace something.
This November will be our second year in the house so we haven't been living here for a long time. We have two AC units and it was the lower one that needed cleaning. The tech showed us a picture of how dirty it was and said it seemed like it had not been cleaned in years. He said that all the dirt and things probably caused the problem. The unit doesn't really have a cover over it so it sits outside in the elements. Last year, we had Freon replaced and the problem was not identified or that it needed cleaning. I'm not really sure why the ones who came didn't recommend that we do that then. But our AC is working now and it's excellent. The cleaning really helped.

He told me he had to clean up the drain. Once the drain was cleaned, everything was fine. The AC is working right now. Everything went fine as per the expectation. The only thing is once you file or open the ticket, and if you're trying to reach out to one of the customer representative, it's real hard to get to them because even after waiting for a couple of hours on the call or putting yourself in the queue, you don't get the response. That's very difficult. Even the chat thing doesn't work easily. So, in terms of customer improvement or customer service, that is something which has a lot of room for improvement.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield. It’s convenient to not have to look in the phone or google a service provider to figure out who I'm gonna have come fix an issue. I feel secure being a single mom and not knowing how to do all this stuff. It's easy. I can just go online, share my problem, pay the $75, somebody else would come and it’s off my shoulders.
Recently, four of the sockets had no power in the kitchen. I went to the circuit breaker in the basement and turned it off but it didn't come back on. When the guy came, he only jiggled it and it came back on. I wasn’t happy that the guy only literally jiggled the circuit breaker but at the end of the day, I was happy to have electricity back on in the kitchen so we could use the microwave and the coffeemaker. It’s convenient that I only have the $75 fee as opposed to paying hundreds of dollars for an electrician. I would’ve been really upset.

The contractor would call and say they're gonna come to my house on a certain day. We would then make arrangements and things would be fine. I had to follow my last two requests up.
Recently, I had a big leak in my pool filter. Also, my booster pump was leaking as well. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Absolute Pool Care to the house. The claim with the AC was my third call this year. My AC wasn’t cooling and a person came out. I needed Freon and he had it. Then, everything seemed wonderful. But within 20 days, my home wasn’t cooling. So, the company sent another technician out who said that there was no problem with the Freon. It turned out the filter was dirty so he changed that. I wondered why the technician didn’t check all of that the first time he was here. Everything was wonderful again but then, three months later, the AC started not cooling again. A second company came out and the technician said that the line was clogged and that sometimes, that happens and it shuts the system down, which was why it wasn't cooling.
Everything was good for a week and then, it started doing the same thing. I made a call to the company or went online and made the notation that the system was not cooling again. The company reached out to me and said that they would send a technician and it was supposed to have been Tuesday this week. I called American Home Shield and went through the automated system. It said that the request was canceled. It wasn't cancelled by me so I called to ask to speak to a rep and the rep told me that the company cancelled. That was sad on their part because I've been waiting for a technician and had I not called, I would have never known what happened with my AC issue. The weather is changing so I thought about letting it go but I paid for a service technician that didn't call and didn't show.
American Home Shield also didn’t call to follow up with me about it. They should call me to say that the company is not coming. They should offer to send someone else or say something. I pay for a service fee every month and they expect the payment and for it to be on time. If I don't make the payment, I don't get the service. I'm paying for service that I didn't get. I'm not happy at this time with American Shield and the contractor because neither of the two reached out to me to tell me that I was not gonna have a technician at my home so I wasted days because I waited Tuesday and I thought maybe it was Thursday. So, I waited yesterday and nothing. AHS needs to follow up. There are a bunch of companies that would love to have my business. My overall experience was good up until the last incident.

I have a problem right now with this part that was delivered. Before the air conditioning and the electrical claim, I asked the refrigerator people to fix a refrigeration part. They said that it was misused so I had to order a part and I ordered the wrong part. I wanted them to order the part 'cause I don't know what part it is and they wouldn't do it. Also, it's hard to get through American Home Shield with the telephone. It wasn't so hard before but because of the virus, they're not answering their phone. I had to call them three times just to get things done. It took them so long. They would say, "Yeah. I'll get it done tomorrow." Tomorrow happened. They never answered their phone. If I called them, they wouldn't call back until two, three days later. I had water damage at that point. It took me a long time to get through to that particular woman that I was supposed to have worked with. Find somebody else other than Home Shield. I didn't renew with them.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

I've always been satisfied when the contractors of AHS came out. The customer service of AHS is great too. One time I had to wait quite a while, about 20 minutes. I couldn't get through, it was busy. I hope they could improve the time on the phone. That's hard with the pandemic going on and not that many people working. It's understandable at this time. I have AHS on my residential home and I just recently added American Home Shield to my rental property as well.
Good afternoon Maurette,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

The tech from A-US opened the unit up, replaced the capacitor, and put it the back, and that was it. It was a really simple fix. He was mindful of social distancing. I was there beside the tech, and he had a mask. I had a mask, too. American Home Shield has been pretty good. We've been a member now for three years, and the largest thing we've had done was a water heater replacement. So, that was nice. I'm very satisfied.

We had some issues with the water filling back into the tub after the washing machine had finished cycle and had turned off. The technician from Dudek that came out was able to repair it. There was some kind of sensor that he replaced. Also, while he was out, I had him look at the dryer because I had changed the vent hose and the outside vent. I made that run just a little bit shorter than what had previously been on there because it seemed like it was taking a little bit longer for the clothes to dry.
We had a claim previously for a plumbing issue that was connected with the downspout going from the washer. We were trying to decide whether this is an electric issue or a plumbing issue. The first agent that I spoke with at American Home Shield said he didn't know and frankly, I appreciated his honesty. I called the previous contractor who had come out and he said that this is an electric issue. We submitted the claim and the repair technician was contacted between the 24 to 48-hour timeframe. We have been happy. I think it's gonna be an ongoing thing that if something comes up, they'd find whether it's repairable or it needed replacing. With American Home Shield, it's easy to submit a claim, they're receptive to the issue, and they act in a timely manner.

Ashman Appliance Service came on behalf of American Home Shield to fix our washer and dryer issue. While my washer is now fine, the tech who came said that the part needed to fix the dryer wasn't available. He said that AHS should be calling me in a few days. I waited a week or two 'cause I figured they were behind but then no one called. I called AHS and they said that I was approved for the cash out instead of the replacement. I told them that no one has ever called me and that was the first time I was finding things out. I waited a whole week when I could have been shopping for a new dryer.
Other than this incident things, have been good with American Home Shield. The contractor from Ashman kept me updated with everything. If something breaks, AHS is on it as soon as I apply for the claim. I'm getting my mom and my grandma to get AHS because, for $50 a month and $100 downpayment, they could fix something that could hundreds and sometimes thousands. The warranty is definitely worth it.

My concern is that three people have been to the property. The first guy who went to fix the AC recommended to have the ducts checked. I ordered that by the first guy’s recommendation. That guy came in and told me that he needed to replace some ducts. But the report said that they couldn’t cover that because the damage is done by physical damage, not normal wear and tear. Then a third guy came in for the second opinion and he told me the ducts were not problem. The AC unit is too old and many parts are functioning but not at their best that's why I don't get enough cold or airflow. He wrote me a report and recommended the unit to be replaced.
The following day I got a call from American Home Shield and they told me that the last guy’s report says that the problem is not due to normal wear and tear and they can’t cover it. I have a copy of the report and it says the total opposite. The appraisal from them is different from the report the guy gave me. They said, “There's nothing we can do. We go by the rules. If you read the contract, it clearly says items not covered unless it's normal wear and tear.” They didn't wanna cover anything. Also, the contractor did good but when he climbed into the attic, he broke the the attic cover. I asked American Home Shield who’s gonna pay for that and they want me to deal with the contractor myself. But the contractor works for them. I don't think I should be dealing with a third party.
I'm disappointed ‘cause I've been paying this home warranty for almost five years since I got my property. I never canceled it and I've never used them other than for the AC. But when I called them, they weren't able to help me. A unit is expensive to replace that's why I got the insurance in the first place. I have a bad experience at this point. I feel like I've been paying for nothing all this time.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

My experience with AHS has been great. The quality of the contractors is fine. I just wish we could get the same contractors on a regular basis. That would be nice. Because every time we have an issue, a different contractor's coming out to do something.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The air stopped getting cold in my rental house so I got online and did a claim with AHS. That was extremely simple. I paid the 125 and they sent someone out to fix the unit. From speaking with my tenants, they said that the contractor was really quick. They came in, got right to the problem, and they were gone. As far as interaction, it wasn't unpleasant in any way, shape, or form. My tenants haven't said anything since the visit so I assume that they're cool. American Home Shield did what they said they were gonna do and it was in a timely fashion, so I was pleased. It's been a good experience.

My garage door would shut and then open itself back up. We got flooded in '16 and the baseboard against the wires that held the eye at the bottom sheared over time which created the problem. I sent a request to American Home Shield and their contractor from #1 Garage Door did a great job. He was wearing a mask the whole time. He couldn't take the baseboard off though so I got a crowbar and got it off myself. He then fixed the issue with no problem in 15 minutes. There was one wire that was not connected all the way and he was able to connect it. He also changed one of the broken hinges that was causing the bad popping noise.
American Home Shield's $75 deductible isn't fun and I wish they would cover our washer, dryer and refrigerator which are not built-in. Still, they've been wonderful when we have problems and we love their service. When we need them for plumbing or electricity, they call us within a day saying that they got our job request and asking when we want their tech to come. I've told my nephew who just bought a home about Home Shield.

Everything went well with the contractor who came. But they should come out and do at least a follow-up because the air will stop cooling for a while then it'll start back working like it's supposed to. It stays off for around two hours and then it starts a bit cooling afterwards. I don't know if it's freezing up or what. So, I would like for them to do a follow-up on the job that they did.
As far as American Home Shield, it was about a month and a half before they were gonna do the service. I called them back and they were keeping me on hold. It went from two to three hours at a time each time that I called, and then I still wasn't getting any answers, until here, lately, about last week before they fixed the AC. But I still have an existing claim that hasn't been taken care of.

Spartan Plumbing was amazing. They came out, fixed the issue, and educated us on what needed to be done. They also cleaned up after themselves. They had their mask on and we tried to stay six feet apart. I'd highly recommend them to someone else. They seemed better than a lot of the other plumbers that have been sent out by Home Shield.
American Home Shield tries not to pay for something. So, I'm on the fence whether or not I'm going to stick with them. It would be easier to have a company that I didn't feel like they were always trying not to pay for something. I pay my yearly membership fee and I expect the service without issues. They did replace our dryer that couldn't be fixed. But it was after a period of time when they just realized to replace it.
Getting AHS on the phone has just gotten worse progressively. At first, you could pick up the phone and be on the phone right away. Now you're gonna be on hold for a long time. But when you can get them on the phone, the process is very easy. As far as reimbursements, we had an issue with the sump pump but they said that didn't cover it. So they only covered 500 out of the $2,500 bill. Then I had to send them the receipt for it three times. To me, that's inefficiency. AHS has gotten comfortable. My girlfriends talk about it and we talk about alternatives. Right now, we're all thinking of doing something different.
The AHS vendors are coached not to fix things. For example, I had a toilet that was leaking. Their plumber that came out said we broke the toilet or we hit the toilet with something and it broke. So, I had to call in and tell them that I didn't with this and ask them to send someone else. Then they said that they can send someone out. But if it was still my fault, I would have to pay an extra $99. Then the next plumber said that there was a leak. When I talked to my friends that have American Home Shield, they had the same experience too.

The dishwasher had a weird and loud rattle noise. I filed a claim with Home Shield on their website and I was contacted a couple of hours after that. Ramey Appliance was wonderful. They're the same guys who fixed my stove earlier this year. The dishwasher has been functioning very nicely since they came out.

We’ve had American Home Shield come out for a couple things and one of them was for the heating element for our Jacuzzi. It wasn't working, so my husband handled that and it's working now. This policy has worked out well for us on this house so far, but we ended up canceling at our old house because of a couple of really disappointing interactions.
The first thing was we’re supposed to have coverage on the water heater. When that failed, because it was only leaking a little bit, they said it hadn’t failed completely and then they prorated it. The people that came out then had $1,000 worth of adjustments with things that were necessary to meet code before they could do the changes, which we found out later to be a whole bunch of **. We already said, “No thanks. We'll just do it ourselves.”
The second one, I had someone come out and look at the dryer ‘cause it was making a lot of noise. He said that it’s because we didn't "maintain" it, so he wasn't gonna fix it. In order to maintain it though, we had to take it apart 'cause what he meant by "maintain" was clean out any dust that might be poking out of lines. It was very hypocritical. So I was, "Why the heck are we paying any money since we just pay $75 and then we get screwed each time they come out?"
The only reason we have American Home Shield on this house right now is it came with the house. Otherwise, we would not have purchased it. Another thing is that when I went through the claims process, my biggest takeaway was there's no way of ever getting anybody on the phone. A bit less of a wait time when you need to talk to somebody if you have any questions would be nice. If you don't do it online, you're screwed. That's worked fine for us though.
