I had a backed up toilet and American Home Shield sent someone out to fix it. They weren't able to come out that same day or the next day. They were putting me on an order for the following day, which had been two days. I called them back and I told them that I needed it done that same day because we had a back up and we needed it. I have small children at home. They changed the schedule and they came out that same day. The contractor was very professional and the service went very good. They finished their job and our bathroom is working. I'm satisfied that I was able to purchase that insurance. It helps me a lot.

American Home Shield is convenient, affordable, and they do a good job. They are friendly and their contractors come out and fix issues. Patel's Plumbing was sent out when we had a claim for a leak. They came out at first and they did what they were supposed to do. But it was still leaking. They came out again and fixed the leak. This time, there was a leak from the tub. The problem was it wasn't from the plumbing so they didn't do the work. I needed some grout around the tub.

Our microwave was shorting out power in our house and American Home Shield sent somebody over to fix it. Then, they sent something over the email saying that we needed to replace it. They didn't go into detail on the first email that I received but that we could purchase the microwave. Then, they would give us up to a certain price and then we would have to turn in the invoice to get it refunded. So, my husband called to ask about it because we had to get this microwave.

The one that we currently have is a new replacement itself. We had it for maybe a year and a half before it started to cause those problems with wires shorting out. This was a new one and the one we had prior to that was giving us issues. My husband called to ask them about it because we didn't do that process last year as far as us having to purchase it. Basically, we have to purchase it and then send them the receipt, and they’re gonna pay us back. In the midst of while we were waiting to see someone to determine what was going on, we purchased another microwave. Not a big one like the one that we have over our stove but just something that we could use while we were waiting on them to come and assess it. So, we already purchased one microwave and then, we found out we have to purchase one. Submitting the claim was okay. They sent us out to another contract but it took a little while for the other people to come.

The technician who came out for my garbage disposal claim was pretty professional. He came out and he was in and out in probably about 30 minutes, give or take, a few minutes. He had to replace the garbage disposal. So far, American Home Shield been pretty favorable. I've called them three times. Out of three times, two times they were able to actually fix the problem. There was one time when they fixed part of the problem but then the part was not fixed. But I didn't bother to call.

I did the claim for plumbing to American Home Shield through the portal and it was user-friendly. The issue happened on a Thursday evening so the contractor wasn’t able to get here until Monday morning, which meant I didn't have hot water until then. Their time frame does not include weekends so they were technically here within the period of time. It just was an unfortunate timing but they fixed it. Also, they had masks on when they came out. AHS has met expectations on what I signed up for.

I've called when filing claims, and sometimes, I was on hold for about an hour. Other times, it was shorter. But we'd set a date that the technician would show up so basically, it worked well. Sometimes the calls were a little long when waiting to get to an agent, but other than that, everything was fine. Everybody they've send out has been professional. They know what they're doing. They're gentlemen and problem resolved. Recently, Nussbaumer Plumbing came out and they were wonderful. Overall, it was an efficient, prompt, and knowledgeable experience with American Home Shield.

The AC was making a terrible noise. It was vibrating and we found it terrible, but it was kind of funny because when the tech from Rice Heating and Air Conditioning got out there, a piece of cardboard had fallen into it. It was an $85 learning experience. As far as American Home Shield, we had quite a wait time on the phone, but that's understandable right now with the Coronavirus. It takes about half an hour to 45 minutes. We've had good repairmen. We can do nothing but compliment on the guys that have come out, especially with the fact that they've all worn masks. We're senior citizens, so we insist on people to wear a mask when they come in, and nobody gave us any lip about it at all. They were all very agreeable and cooperative.

Someone from Total Quality Air came out for a claim I made with American Home Shield. The tech was on time. I told him where the unit was and what was going on. He went around the house and fixed it. He had to put something in the air conditioner. Within 10 minutes, he was done and gone. The air conditioner works fine now.

American Home Shield has been wonderful. When I had trouble with my refrigerator, the technicians that came out for that did wonderful jobs. The first time it was for the ice maker in the refrigerator that had frozen up. The tech froze it and had to replace something on it. Seven months later, my ice maker that's in the freezer stopped working so someone came in and replaced that. Nine months later, the same thing happened to my ice maker inside the refrigerator. The tech came back and replaced everything. The tech was also told to replace the tubing that goes in for the water. And so far, it's been good.

AHS should have something different and let me add more to whatever they would pay for the part needed so I can get what I want. Still, their contractor DrainGo did really well for me. I had to have one faucet repaired in a shower and a piece replaced inside a tub.

When I had problems with my dishwasher, they sent somebody out three times and they finally replaced the motherboard on it. At another time, my AC unit was plugged up and there was water dripping in the ceiling in the bedroom which caused the ceiling to collapse. Quick A/C came out, cleaned that all out, and got the unit running. They fixed the drain as well. My refrigerator went out shortly thereafter. I had to have that, and I was on hold for two hours when I called American Home Shield. After that, they sent somebody out and then it was decided that it would cost too much to fix the refrigerator. They're gonna get me a new one, but they dropped the call.

They just hanged up on me and they didn't call or text me back. Every time I'd call in, they ask me, "What's your name? What's your phone number? What's your email?", but they never call me. I'm still waiting and it's been 11 days so far. I also had to call them to find out who was gonna be the distributor for my new refrigerator and who's coming out to hook it up 'cause there's water. I'm discouraged. Overall, American Home Shield sounds like it's a good deal, but they don't have enough people on to answer the phones.

I had some condensation where hot air was meeting cold air in the vents that were coming out of the ducts in the attic. That issue never got really resolved. The people that came out were great, but the issue appears to be on the margins between the categories that were provided. So I had somebody come out and said that our attic fan was busted so we needed an electrician. An electrician came out and said that it was not busted but we needed insulation. So in this case, there wasn't much of a resolution.

I'm a big proponent of Home Shield. I’ve been bragging on the program for quite a bit to people. It's just the last couple of things that haven't worked out. I don't necessarily blame on Home Shield on the ductwork thing. It was just a weird problem that exists in the margins between how they categorize things. When my dryer broke, that one actually did frustrate me from a standpoint of Home Shield because in order to get anything moving to the next level as far as replacing the dryer, I had to call. If I didn't call, nothing would ever happen. A tech came out and confirmed that my dryer was busted. The parts didn't exist anymore. So I got an email with this button if I wanted a new dryer from AHS. So I pressed the button and it said that it was ordered. It also said that somebody would be in touch or l'd get it in 10 days.

A week and a half passed by and I didn't heard a peep since I got the email. I finally called AHS and they said that nothing was ordered. So I asked them to order me a dryer. I called again and found out that it was all backordered and it was gonna take four months or something. So I asked them to give me the money. Then they have the bones to say that the receipt to this email address. I got a new dryer in hand but I would have to call them just to make sure that they would be sending a check. Overall, my experience has been very good but the need to call them is more than it should be. But whenever I do get through to people, they always help me out.

I've had American Home Shield in a previous house that's why I requested it again for this new home. Recently, our thermostat stopped working. My boyfriend went up there and found that the condensation was building up so it probably shorted out the board ‘cause it got wet. But it looked like it had not been flushed in a while and it needed to be flushed. I'm glad we had the guy from Comfort Pro ‘cause he flushed everything through.

There was also a filter up there that they hadn't changed since 2015 but we found out from the guy that came that it really doesn't need a filter since we have filters throughout the house. It was good to get it flushed out. It was worth it to have somebody go through and clean that all out. He also seemed pretty knowledgeable. The only thing is if you have a couple issues and you need two different contractors to come out, you have to pay them separately. I had two things that went bad at the same time. It would’ve been nice to be able to pay just one charge. But all in all, it was a good experience with American Home Shield.

I had a little bit of trouble getting in touch with the contractor for this more recent appointment. They were assigned on Monday and I spent a couple of days trying to reach them but I couldn't do so by phone. Their line was always busy or disconnected. Eventually, I did manage to get in touch with them on Wednesday. But I was a little bit panicked until then because I couldn't find a way to get another contractor assigned or to otherwise reach them. But it did all work out in the end. There was another claim before that for rekeying and that went pretty well. I just had to fill out a form online where I selected the kind of service I needed. That went pretty smoothly and I received an email later saying a contractor was assigned and they'd be contacting me to schedule an appointment and follow up from there.

It's very hard just to pick up the phone and ask what's going on. I got told to go online and look at my thing. But I already did and I had already paid my $75 and I have a plumbing problem. I don't know what to do if the person doesn't respond in 24 hours. It would be helpful to know. Other than that, I had an appliance claim and the tech from Arno who came out was very professional. Recently, the contractor who came out for our AC unit was wonderful. He was really good. He went up there and he checked it. He said the pads were not getting saturated, so he cleaned off the area. He was in and out. It didn't take him that long. This is the second time I've had a contract with American Home Shield. On this particular call, the guy came out within the timeframe.

The other time that I've requested for work to be done in my house, I was not really pleased with them. I called in, something for plumbing, and it literally took them a week to come to my house for a drain that wasn't draining in my kids’ shower. My contract says within 24 to 48 hours, they’re supposed to get someone there. They didn't get anyone there till Friday and I called on Monday. Then I spent four days trying to get them on the phone to tell them I needed to get someone else to come out. Those four days, it still took that long to even get someone on the phone and say, “Hey, why are you guys taking four days to get here?” That was the reason why I technically stopped doing business with them the first time. I couldn’t get the technicians to come out to me.

Submitting the claim to Home Shield was simple. I've done three now, and usually, I would get a notification saying that, "The company will contact you." But I didn't get that was Atlantic Repair and I called them a few days after I submitted this claim. I had to schedule the appointment with them separately. But usually when I work with Home Shield with everything else, and they do the work themselves, it's great.

I had Atlantic Repair come because my fridge broke and they needed to order a part. The man told me it would be three to five business days, but it took over a month. That specific company was one that I didn't want to use again. And when I called to complain to Home Shield, I kept calling and emailing the actual company itself but nobody got back to me. So, I thought the only thing that I could do was call Home Shield so that they could maybe try to contact. The person on the phone definitely did his job, but it felt more like a script rather than, "Oh, well, that's a bummer. Let me try to get on it as soon as possible." And then, I didn't hear anything back when they said they would call back. The whole process took over a month. They ended up replacing the part that needed to be replaced. I just wanted it to be done because it was such a frustrating process.

When I had a man come and check on my air conditioning, that was super nice. I would, hands-down, have him come back and check on everything if I could. It's just frustrating when they contract out because it makes you lose a bit of trust in Home Shield when they contract out to a company that sucks so much. But everything that went through Home Shield themselves was fantastic.

We cancelled our contract with them because our air conditioner broke July 8th, both of our systems in our house. In September, we finally ended up paying for it ourselves because they couldn't find equipment for our downstairs unit and we paid 3,950 to get it fixed. American Home Shield is giving us 1,700 because that's all they said they would be able to give us because that's what they could have repaired it for. After waiting over three weeks for that particular unit, in the middle of August (our house was at 90 degrees), they said, “Well, we're sorry. We can't find the equipment.”

All of a sudden, when we paid for it, they came up with a ridiculous figure, $1,700, which 700 of it was labor. That meant that they bought a heat pump outside and an air handler inside for $1,000, which doesn’t even seem realistic. They also told me that they didn’t have to do the same type of equipment, brand, or quality we have. They just had to match the 2.5 ton and a handler that matched it, which, to us, was not adequate. We’re not happy and now, we’re still waiting on our payment and the refund when we cancelled the thing. We also had to pay to get that air handler put in for our upstairs unit.

They replaced the heat pump outside and then, the inside air handler blew from the new equipment putting so much pressure through the old air handler. We haven't heard back if they're gonna pay for that yet, but we had to pay $1,600 to have that replaced so we can have air conditioning. We wrote a letter to the Better Business Bureau and we got a letter from them yesterday that American Home Shield replied to the them. Their side of the story isn't anywhere near where ours is, but it's irrelevant. We're done with them. We're done with all home warranties. I don't think any of them are fair to the people that need them.

When she came, I didn't answer the door. So then we rescheduled for another week.

When the following guy came out, he was pretty nice. He brought his assistant with him, they were in the house less than five minutes. They figured the issue out. I did the claim online where I put in a work order and I got a notification that the contracting company was notified and that they should be calling me. Or if they don't call me in an ample amount of time, to contact them. My kitchen sink was backing up and they had to come three different times. I still have another schedule 'cause the problem has not been solved. I don't know what exactly it is. The first guy came and snaked it but he had to come back a few hours later 'cause it started backing up again even after we tested it for a little bit. He snaked it again with a different snake and it ran fine for a couple of days but it started doing the same thing again.

It took about a week and a half for them to come back out which was last week. He snaked it again but it's still backing up. We've been checking our other drains and nothing else is backing up except for that sink drain. He said he had to get the manager out this coming week. My wife wasn't too impressed with the guy that came out this week. At this point, American Home Shield could improve on how long it takes for them to dispatch folks. With stuff like backed-up sinks, you have to wait quite a few days to get a situation resolved 'cause there's one contractor that does this whole area. They could have more than one contractor so somebody could come out within at least a day or two to address the problem.

I purchased a new home and the coverage on the appliances with American Home Shield was given to me within the contract. I made a rekey service request and I was on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to answer so I could tell them I needed a locksmith. The rep told me that she couldn't give me any information and that I had to wait for somebody to call me back from the locksmith. I wasn’t too happy with that. I had to wait until midday the next day for someone from Firstline Locksmith to call me back. But they came out the day they called me and they were excellent.

My oven wasn't coming on so I went online and put in the claim. However, I didn't feel like the website was too user-friendly. I wound up calling in. American Home Shield called me and told me who will be coming out and that I would get a call from them. Bert's Appliance Repair was pretty quick with the call and setting up an appointment. They were friendly and efficient. They had to come out twice. The first time, they didn't have the part and they had to order it. But it only took a day or two for that. They replaced some parts. The oven is working now. Going with American Home Shield is a good choice.

When I submit requests, they get canceled by Home Shield for some reason but I never authorized the cancellation. So, the order will go out to the third party that is supposed to come to fix the item. For example, I submitted a request for a garage service, I called the company that Home Shield sent me the email on, and they said, "Oh, Home Shield canceled that," but I never canceled it. I don't know who at Home Shield canceled it, but someone there canceled it.

Furthermore, I can't get everything done one stop by just going on the site and filling out the forms. Because once you click one thing it doesn't let you click multiple areas that you need your fixes for. And I should be able to bundle, under one co-pay, items that are related. That part is troubling because online, I can't do that. And then, I'm forced to sit in a very long queue and talk to someone who doesn't understand what the request is due to language barriers, and they're not willing to listen and hear it out. I can tell that Home Shield is onshore, but the people that I've had problems with are all offshore, and I can tell that they are.

When I called about the garage not being fixed, there were two cases that were open, one for Applied Air and one for the garage. The young lady I spoke with said, "Well, this is no problem. All American Garages, they can fix the issue with..." No, it was an electrical thing. There were three things. Applied Air had to be bucketed separately, and I knew I had to pay a separate 75 for that. Then the other two were supposed to be together because they were all electrical.

All American Garage handles garages and the representative told me, "No, no. All American Garage can do electrical work." I called them. All they do are garages. And everyone knows, if you specialize in garages, and it's called All Garage Repair or All American Garage Repair, you're not gonna do wiring internally inside of the house. Maybe wiring with the garage, but not inside the house on a lighting fixture. That kind of back and forth was frustrating because I tried to explain to Home Shield they specialize in garages, but they told me they do electrical work. And then after they put me on hold forever and they find out, "Oh, no, no, no, they can't do electrical work." "Exactly. I just told that. It's common sense."

The contractors are fine. I feel a little annoyed that I have to remind them to put on booties when they come in people's homes. Putting on the booties is not really doing all that much other than keeping the mud that is on their existing shoe off of my floor and carpeting. But if they have used those same booties at other people's house, they still drag whatever germs on their booties throughout my house. I have to make an extra purchase of my own booties to make them put on my booties when they come in my house. But the quality of work is fine. All the people who came to do service, besides the minor instance where I had to say, "Hey, do you have booties on?" That's just the standard protocol, even before COVID, to not traipse through people's houses with your dirty work boots on.

Making a claim with American Home Shield is a simple process. But with my AC unit that stopped working, there were some issues getting a company to come out because it was during the heatwave a couple of weeks ago. During the heatwave, it was like 115 degrees. I had to send my family out of town and I had to stay to endure the drama of the heat because I had to continue working. American Home Shield didn't send out someone as soon as possible, which I kinda understood because it was definitely a time that people were calling because of the heatwave that was going on. But it was frustrating at the same time.

American Home Shield should make sure that they understand the severity of each claim. They should have a better understanding of what needs to take place and the urgency behind it. If an AC went out during a heatwave or a heater went out when it was was really cold, there should be understanding of what steps a company should take in order to rectify the situation as soon as possible. They should place themselves in the position of that person or that homeowner and what they're dealing with, especially dealing with the AC that went out during the heatwave. No one wants to endure that. With my claim, South Placer Heating and Air came and they did a good job. It was a quick fix. But coming a week and a half later after the heatwave is not what I would want anyone to deal with. Even last year, I had the same issue as well where the AC went out.

Absolute Comfort did excellent quality work on an 8-yr old AC that had a leaking coil. They fixed it and I was quite happy. They were a very good company. I had a prior claim with American Home Shield for a toilet and I was very upset. The tank behind the toilet cracked and began to leak. When I filed a claim against it, the contractor came out to look at it said it happens all the time. The toilet itself was good, but the tank was bad. They had to replace the entire unit and they went and got the cheapest one they could find. I bet they didn't spend 100 bucks on it. It pissed me off that American Home Shield doesn't go back with the same amount and the same quality equipment. I even offered to pay any difference. I could've gone down to Home Depot or Lowe's and bought a better toilet than what they put in.

I got hit with two times $75 because American Home Shield charged me twice to $75 service calls, one to come out and analyze the problem, and another $75 to come out and replace the toilet. Because they would only do white and mine's almond, they said they were gonna have to charge me extra for the color difference which they did. I was pretty pissed to the point where I nearly canceled my contract with them. The toilet is working but the wife hates it. She wants me to go replace it with something that's of similar quality to our home because everywhere else, we've got high quality fixtures in our bathrooms then we got this cheap toilet now in the guest bathroom. She's pretty upset about that to the point where she's probably gonna make me swap it out.

I've had American Home Shield with a previous home I had in Cyprus so I've been working with them since probably 2002. There was probably a five-year gap when I was based in Singapore. I've been paying 50,60 bucks a month for six years and that was how they were gonna treat me. I don't think I need a home warranty if that's how they're going to treat me. I could take all that money and go fix the thing myself. It was pretty nasty. I sent American Home Shield an email with all my comments, and nobody's gonna call me back on that 'cause that's negative feedback.

When Bestway Mechanical came out, they fixed the tank inside of the commode. But a couple of days I went out of town and when I came back in town, I noticed the water was running very, very slow. I thought it may be in the neighborhood so I checked with my neighbor. There was nothing the matter with his services. There was water pressure. So I called back yesterday and requested them to come back out and look at the plumbing system. They gave me a time between 8:00 and 12 o'clock. I figured they would give me a two-hour window time but they gave me a four-hour time just to be here at the house to wait for them to arrive. They haven't showed up yet so I'm still waiting on them. It's kinda tore my own schedule. I had to take the whole day off work.

When they were here, they did not come in with a mask on. I work for Public Health so I know what they were supposed to do before they come in anybody’s house. As for the customer service, it was pretty good, even though yesterday, I had to wait on the line 55 minutes to get somebody on the line to talk to them. The last time I called them, I had to wait on the line a long time too. But once you get in contact with them, they were pretty expedient as to what they needed to do.

South Valley Appliance came out for my refrigerator and it didn't go very well. They said the part worked, and then came out, and then it didn't work again. This is the third time the refrigerator has gone out for the same part. My first claim was back in October. I lost all my food three times and I was not too thrilled. Then I just had them come out to fix the back refrigerator. The guy unplugged it, but he ended up unplugging also my freezer 'cause he had to get back there. And I lost everything in my freezer. I don't wanna lose money on food. It gets expensive after you have to lose so many times. So, it was not the best experience in the world. I reached out to Home Shield and all they told me was that it was a past contract and there was nothing they could do after three months. It's really frustrating because my refrigerator keeps breaking down for the same part over and over again. So, it's not a new problem every time.

I'm not really thrilled about American Home Shield. I've had other claims with them with my washing machine. I thought they’d eventually replace it, but they kept coming out. I had nothing but problems. It seems like they'll fix something and then it just breaks apart again and it's the same issue. They would say that it was just cosmetic, but I'd tell them that something broke at the bottom. They were just waiting for it to break on me and it finally did break. I finally had to get rid of my washing machine. It was so loud and it finally broke to the point that you couldn't even use it when it was only doing a spin cycle.

I logged in on a Sunday and got immediate responses. Somebody was out at my location by Tuesday morning. The techs figured out what was wrong and they addressed it. They did a very thorough job of investigating and went through all of the circuits in the house. They traced everything and found a couple of things that needed to be reset. They did all that.

Also, I had a plumbing issue and there were parts that needed to be ordered. That all happened fairly quickly and efficiently. I've had multiple claims in recent times and I've been very pleased with the promptness of American Home Shield's service. Requesting service has been a frictionless experience. I work from home and one day, I'd gone outside and I came back in, it was about the same temperature inside as it was outside. Then I got an alert on my phone because I have these electronic thermostats and it said that my air conditioner had been off for four hours. I went and checked and did everything I needed to do to see if there was anything I could fix. At the time, I couldn't get it to come back on. I called AHS and set up an appointment. All these thermostats have these little remote sensors and one of the batteries had gone bad. It wasn't telling the air conditioner to come on. The guy came out and he was knowledgeable and went through my air conditioner. He found a part that was just about ready to go bad and replaced it. I had a good experience this time with them. It hasn't always been that way.

I had an issue where I had a leaky pipe in the bathroom wall. Of course, sometimes, they couldn't get right there. So I had taken the wall down, looked at it, and I found what the problem was. Then the guy showed up and walked in my house and said that there's mold and he couldn't do anything. He turned around and left and AHS said they were gonna charge me $100 for that. They ended up refunding me my money after some arguments. I ended up doing the repair all myself because they said they couldn't deal with mold. They came back out a second time and they still said they couldn't do anything. I had abated it and it was fine. They had also recommended me to a another company to come out and they wanted like 12 grand to abate a space that was in my garage, about 4x4 feet. I felt there was some collusion between companies there. But other than that time, they've taken care of what they said they'll do.

AHS has upgraded where we can put in our orders online. They have done some stuff since I've had them which has made it easier. The main thing is the scheduling of the contractors. Sometimes, they can't get anybody out for a week. And it's your house. There are some things that can't wait a week. Just make sure you get information on what you want covered and what each plan covers 'cause they have different ranges of service. If you want your air conditioner covered, make sure that's in your plan.

The refrigerator is not working. I lost everything in it. GE tried to fix it, but they didn't have the part so they gave us an ecard at Home Depot. I like the service from American Home Shield. I called them before and I really didn't have problems getting service, and I didn't really have problems getting service this time other than I waited for about half an hour on the phone. But on follow-up calls, I had to call them six times. They sent me something and I accepted the ecard and they said I'd have it in 24 to 48 hours but there was nothing. When I finally got ahold of them barely 24 to 48 hours, I got to hold them 72 hours later, after holding for an hour and 45 minutes. They told me they had sent me the ecard. So they sent me a letter acknowledging that I accepted the ecard.

I waited for another 24 to 48 hours and I called and sat on the phone for another hour and 40 minutes. It was a long time. Then the AHS rep finally asked for my email and she would send it to me now. Their customer service was terrible. I know it may be due to the pandemic and all, but they're not the only ones. At this point, people are hiding behind it to stop the service to their clients. As a matter of fact, I'm debating whether I'm going to renew with them.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the GE that we had was around 3,500 and I settled for 2,100. Apparently, AHS usually has their own supply but they've run out and unfortunately, so has Home Depot. It was a disaster. The refrigerators are backordered until October the 8th and I have little to no confidence that we'll get it on October the 8th.

They said they couldn't have that so they contacted another contractor and that person called me right back. So, it was not ever on American Shield's side. It was the contractor.

I've had three calls into them. The first one was for my air conditioning system, which the contractor said would not have been covered by my policy, but I liked him so much I had him do what needed to be done. It wasn't broke. It wasn't functioning properly. Then the second time was Rod Plumbing came out and replaced my garbage disposal. Wasn't even an hour, and that he came the day after I had put a claim in. The third one, Rod came out again. He discovered that there were little screws in the garbage disposal, which he said wasn't covered by American Home Shield, but he fixed it and didn't charge me anything. He got the screws out.

I only have my major things covered, my electrical, my plumbing, and my systems like my hot water heater, my heater, and air conditioning. I do not have my appliances but I think when my renewal comes up next year, I might add that on too. So far, so good, and American Home Shield has been great to deal with. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online because the wait was too long on the phone. It was like an hour's wait. The contractor came and repaired the oven. They said they couldn't repair the microwave. I was told to call somebody and talk about getting a new one, but I cannot get through the line. They're also not open on the weekend. I still haven't been able to get in touch with the people. Overall, as far as getting a repair, the experience was excellent but trying to get an item replaced was awful.

American Home Shield has been good in the past, but the ability to get ahold of them is just atrocious and I'm thinking of switching to something else. I waited an hour and 45 minutes and still didn't get anybody. I wish they would do something about that wait. Have them call back or something. I had a garbage disposal replaced and it took 12 days to get the guy here. I had also referred a friend, and they sent the person to her. They called her first, and she had no idea what it was about, so she cancelled it. When I didn't hear from him in a couple of days, I called them back on Sunday. Even after that, the guy came out a week later (Thursday).

I did a claim to American Home Shield for my AC unit. The process was very simple. I went on the app and selected that I needed service. I told them what the issue was, paid my deductible, and it wasn't even five minutes later when I received an email and a text saying that it was assigned to a company. Then I got a call from whom it was assigned to and they came out the very next day. The phone calls, the emails and the texts were all within 20 minutes of me submitting the request.

The contractor was incredible. He introduced himself. I met him in my driveway because I have a dog and I wanted to make sure that my dog was put away before he went into the backyard. He had on his mask, kept his distance and asked me what the issues was. He had to come in to look at my actual unit within the home, and he checked all of that. He told me what I had. My unit isn't that old so I was a little thrown off by it not working. He confirmed for me by saying, "Yeah, I can tell this is a newer unit." He gave me information on it and even showed me little things on it that I didn't know anything about. Then we went outside. He walked me through all the steps he was going to do as far as checking on what the issue was. He found the issue very quickly. It was an issue that I could have corrected myself. He showed me how to do it, but he did it himself.

He said, "But you can always call us if you need any help." He was very informative, nice and professional. He was supposed to be here between 2:00 and 4:00. He called around 3:00, he said that he finished a job earlier, and asked if he could come earlier. That was perfect because it was a very hot day. Overall, I can't stop singing the praises of that appointment. It was great.

Even though I have the coverage, I feared calling because I dreaded being told they wouldn't be able to come for a week as if I had called a normal AC company and said, "Hey, my air is out. And it's a hot day," and with COVID, thinking it was gonna take a long time. I was so surprised by how quick, how timely and how easy it was. Being a homeowner, you expect the service on your home to take longer since you don't have a "maintenance person". I felt as if I lived in an apartment and I called the maintenance man who lives two doors down.

We were happy with Steven Mills. We had AHS in Charleston but we were not happy. So, when we moved here to Myrtle Beach, I was not going get them again. But the homeowner here had already provided it for one year, and we have used them three times since we've been here and it has been great. So, we will keep using them.

He asked if it was necessary for him to wear gloves but I told him, no. There was a short circuit breaker that he said that was probably at least 10 years old that needed to be replaced. It would fail in the next couple of years. So he replaced that for us and fixed a couple of the sockets that were not wired up correctly. It was all good. The first time that we used American Home Shield, I had some plumbing issues and I was kind of wary about them. But this second time around, it really got me on good terms with them.

Then they told me it was gonna cost around 3,000 bucks. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent MC Electric. The service guy found one failing that was why the lights didn't work in that area. So, he replaced it. The light doesn't flicker anymore. Everything now is in a good condition. I also wanted to upgrade the fridge because we are a big family. We need a big fridge. I asked AHS, but they said, "We just fix the broken ones. So when it gets broken, you get a new one, but it's gonna be the same one." Overall, I like American Home Shield. It's recommended and our experience is really good.

The part I had a problem with was that initially, it was going to be fixed, but then the parts were on backorder. I was supposed to get a brand new machine instead of having it fixed. It took two months for me to get it resolved. I spent countless hours and days on hold trying to get it straightened out. I was not very happy. There was a delay of course because doing it by phone, there were lots of people doing it. I was on hold of quite a while. But when I got through, the service person was nice. I'm happy with AHS. We had a problem with our refrigerator. We called and made a request to have a repairman come out and we paid the service charge. AHS sent me an email with the vendor. I called his number and left a message. He called me and came out the next day, first thing in the morning, and took care of it. He said to call him back if we had any difficulty. Some of the same things came back again. He did all the testing on the refrigerator and said it was operating as it should. We think what happened is that the refrigerator is quite close to the front door and we had excessive heat in this season of over 100. Then the things that were close to the freezer door were not solid. We had popsicles and things like that and they got mushy. Now we moved the things from the front of the freezer to the back of the freezer and that seemed to solve that problem. Plus, we turned up the degrees.

Also, the lights on the refrigerator were out. He said that the bulbs were loose and he tightened them. It was on for a day and the next day after that it was out again. We could call the guy, he's warranted the work, and he would come back out. He was very friendly, very professional, and came out right away. We didn't have to wait a couple days to get scheduled. We were happy with the outcome.

The one before that, we had a plumbing claim. The pipe wasn't exactly broken, but it had a hairline crack in it and it was a hot water pipe so it caused the leak which caused mold on the outside of the drywall, which is how we became aware of the fact that it was leaking at all. The plumber came out and had to cut open the wall, which made a huge mess. Then we had to deal with finding somebody to come and repair the wall. That was a little disconcerting, ‘cause I expected the plumber to repair the wall, but they didn't do that. Other than that, it went fine. The plumber took care of the leak in the wall right away so that part was smooth. The rest of it was a little bit wonky, but that was because we weren't prepared with the next step. We had to make those arrangements ourselves, we just didn't understand that that was gonna be on us.

We were considering taking out a different plan. The plan we have now is for systems. We’re retired and living on Social Security, and it's a big expense to pay. Now they want $61 a month for the whole thing and that's probably not gonna happen. We're probably gonna have to take out another plan to cover systems and not cover appliances. But right now, we're still covered with both the systems and the appliances although I expect we will be making that decision to get rid of the appliance coverage ‘cause it's just too much. Overall, AHS has been responsive and they have good vendors. The problems that we have are unique to the situation and it hasn’t caused us any lasting problems.

I had two claims around the same time frame. I went online to my American Home Shield to submit the claims and it was super easy. I love working with them. I just tell them what’s wrong, pay $75 for my service fee for the service call, then they assign a company. For these claims, I needed to get the ice maker and refrigerator fixed, and the first company that AHS hired was Nana Appliance Repair. They were the worst company I've ever come in contact with and I put a formal complaint in with American Home Shield for them.

Initially, I called them because I didn't hear from them at first. I told them that I’d like to get on the books immediately and that I have tenants living in the property, so I had to get things done ASAP. They gave me the next day, 8:00 to 12:00 window, but when 8:00 to 12:00 came the next day, the gentleman didn't show up. The technician called me and said he was sorry. He said that he was not available at that time and that they overbooked him. So, he needed to come out the following day. At that point, I lost 48 hours.

Then, the day that he was supposed to come out, he said that they didn't give him enough information for him to get to the property. So he just didn't show up. Then after I told him that that was completely unacceptable, and that this was an emergency as people at the property didn't have water, they put me on a 45 minute wait. They're outsourced in another country, so you have people from India that are answering the phone because it was 2 o'clock pm, which was ridiculous. But it was a very horrible process.

So I contacted American Home Shield and said I would not work with this company. I told them that I needed them to hire a different company, and they did. The guy came out the next day and he fixed the issues within five minutes, so I really had no problem with the second company, AZ Refrigeration Company. That company was great and the second guy that came out was fabulous. All in all, some of the third-party companies that American Home Shield call aren't the most professional. I know that's how home warranties work and I understand why they hire who they hire, but unfortunately, for me, I was unsatisfied with that first company that they sent out because they were so unprofessional.

My wife and I recently purchased our first home. We were provided by the sellers with American Home Shield for 1 year after we closed escrow (pretty standard). We live in Southern California which is in the midst of a heatwave. It is expected to reach 117 degrees today. Our central air conditioning unit's compressor failed. We had no AC. The company assigned to us for AC repair by American Home Shield was unavailable on Sundays, and it was a Sunday. They had an emergency number which we called but were told we wouldn't be helped for 2 Days. So, we called American Home Shield to find a different company to do the job.

The customer support agent had us on hold for 40 minutes. When he finally came back, he said he had checked with 25 other companies. None were available. Some of them didn't even have voice mail he said. He said that American Home Shield Dispatch would attempt to attempt to locate someone, and that we would hear back in 4 to 24 hours. That wasn't acceptable. So in the meantime, we started looking on our own for someone to do the repairs.

After 3 hours we finally found someone who repair our AC so we called back. Our hope was that because this was an emergency, and because they didn't have the resources to take care of us, that American Home Shield would approve the person we had found and process our request. The customer support agent put my wife on hold for 20 minutes. When they returned their phone connection was terrible - they said they'd call us right back. 15 minutes later, STILL NO CALL. So we called back AGAIN. After the usual 10 minute wait, a customer service agent said "Hello?" and then hung up! So we called AGAIN! 10 more minutes, and we get on the phone with another customer service agent. This agent like all the others said they would "do their best to help" and that "our request would be expedited." We laid out our grievances, the agent apologizes but offers no solution.

We go back and forth. Eventually she says that we would receive a call presenting us with "other options" sometime today. More back and forth, she backpedals to, "in the next 4 hours." At this point, it is clear that this woman (who is just doing her job) cannot resolve our situation.. We urgently need our AC repaired. 117 degrees is severe enough that it the situation is unsafe. We ask to speak to a supervisor. She DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OUR REQUEST, instead she regurgitates what she's being saying all along "expedited," "4 hours" etc.

This is exhausting! But eventually she says that she will try to contact her supervisor who she only communicates with via CHAT. She would not provide us with a number or an email. And that was it, wait to hear back in 4 hours. This company has INSPIRED NO CONFIDENCE. This whole thing happened over the course of 5 to 6 hours. I do not expect to hear back in 4 hours, but after that time we'll call them back again - probably speak to someone else who is very polite but can't help us because they weren't given the tools to do their job.

When my realtor asked who I wanted to use, I told him that I used American Home Shield at the first house. He then said that he'd get a kickback of $25 if I went with them and I told him to switch us to it. After I moved in, there was a leak at one of the pumps in my pool and I filed a service request with AHS. The techs they sent out worked really well. They aren't based here in Waco, so they asked me to take pictures of all of my system. They said they could see the crack and that they'd see what the fix was going to be, which was fantastic. Then, they brought out more stuff even those that I necessarily needed though they took that stuff back because I didn't need it. But because I was able to send them all pictures, they had all the right stuff when they came out and had the issue fixed in 90 minutes tops once they got here. So, no complaints at all.

Other than that, at our old house, we used American Home Shield for pretty much all of our stuff but we knew what we were getting into in the first place, that instead of getting things fixed, we would oftentimes take the buyout, then buy a new version of the thing. We recognized that that was probably the smartest way to use it. We were also very happy with the air conditioner that we got as a result of it, but the air conditioning company that we went through the first time said that they wouldn't be able to work with us at the new house using the home warranty if we had a problem because they no longer do home warranty stuff. They didn't specify what company did it, but that they felt like they were constantly getting nickel and dimed by the home warranty folks.

The warranty company wouldn't let them fix things for real when they actually needed to be fixed. They instead would say to fill it with Freon and just call it good. The techs would say that it was going to leak out in four months but they would say that they didn't care. So, the AC company just got out of American Home Shield, which is too bad because we really liked those folks. They were really good and we were glad that we got to use them on the first house. And hopefully, we won't have air conditioning problems here and we won't have to use anyone on the second house.

Tech Pro has been out three times. They came out again today to get the door open so we can get our clothes out 'cause they've been stuck in there for like a week. There were multiple codes coming up and you couldn't unlock the door. You'd have to unplug it, let it sit for a while, plug it back in then you could open the door and you'd have to restart it so it would drain. He changed out a switch that tells the pump when they're empty and when not empty. But that did not fix it.

What the tech said today was they wanted to order a pump. He's pretty sure that's not gonna fix it and he didn't wanna come back again until they come out with the whole motherboard, but they weren't able to, as of yet, find anybody that would supply them that motherboard. He was great though. He could have probably brought out two of the parts but he was pretty sure when I talked to him that it was the computer itself that was malfunctioning. The pump and the other switches and mechanical parts were all working.

I called American Home Shield a little while ago after Tech Pro left. It was a 30 to 40 minute wait so I gave them a callback number. They're supposed to call me back. We're going on about a month without a washer. At this point, I was kinda hoping they would have ordered me a new washer by now. This experience hasn't gone really well but usually, American Home Shield is pretty good. This is the second time that we've used them and had filed a claim. We did it on our air conditioner twice for two different units.

This experience that I had with Tech Pro was great because they called me back within the same day to set up the appointment and they were able to come out within a day or two of me filing the claim. Whereas with the air conditioning, when those units broke, I didn't hear from the air conditioning place for days. I had to call the company and I had to wait for them to call me back. That contractor for American Home Shield wasn't that great because it took so long for them to even get in touch with us. I did not appreciate that. It was hot and we didn't have air conditioning. It was miserable.

He told me to just take a picture of the serial number to the refrigerator and he would order the part. But I never heard from the company for three weeks. A month later, my refrigerator was still broken. So, I called the home warranty company to tell them that I had been waiting for a whole month and it still was broken. They kept giving me the runaround, saying that they had to take it to a higher level and somebody else would have to approve for another company come out. Eventually, it got taken to someone that could approve for a second refrigerator company to come out. They came out and fixed it almost on the second visit.

The second company that came out was American High-Tech Appliance. They were very good. Their tech fixed my refrigerator. He came the first time, looked at it, and knew exactly what part needed to be done. He said he didn't have that part on his truck, but he would get a part. He came back in less than a week and fixed my refrigerator. Everything has been great and I haven't had any problems. My freezer part of the refrigerator is working perfectly.

I always call American Home Shield to let them know, and they contact whatever company they deal with. But my warranty is up in November and I'm still on the fence about renewing them only because it took a month and several phone calls to get a second appliance company to come out. It was on the warranty company to find the second company for us. So, that made me very angry that they wouldn't take that step.

The AC is really old and it is taking a long time to cool down the house. It hasn't been dripping. But the technician said it was gonna need to be replaced soon. He said something was clogging it and he cleaned it out. But he couldn't see the bottom of the pan. He told me to call back if it kept dripping after 72 hours. But I've been checking it and I didn't see it dripping anymore. I love Home Shield. There has been one thing after another that has been going on and I've had to call Home Shield so many times. I had two claims in three days and they’ve been really good. For a home warranty, I'm really satisfied with them.

Sears came out for my air conditioner. Before I had them complete the work, I got an authorization number and they said that everything was covered and they would reimburse me. And I haven't heard anything and I haven't gotten my money back from American Home Shield. Every time I look at the website, it just keeps saying that it's been processed. I have sent them emails, but they're not answering me.

I had to spend money out of my pocket because they said they couldn't find anybody who could fix it. I found somebody within 45 minutes. I finally called AHS and every time I called, I was on hold for over an hour and half the time, it would disconnect me. I was really frustrated. When I got a hold of someone, they didn't know how to tell me how to go about getting somebody else to do it when they weren't finding somebody for me. Finally, I spoke to a supervisor who told me what to do. I followed all the steps. I'm very unhappy. This is very frustrating because I pay a lot of money and I hardly ever have anything done. It just so happen that all of a sudden, my microwave went out at the same time. I did get that fixed, and they did send somebody out here in a reasonable amount of time, but the air conditioning has been a big mess.

The differentials from the point of entry to the output point for the HVAC systems were less than they were supposed to be. I submitted a ticket online to American Home Shield. Their website was fine, but it did not allow me to request service for two units. I could only request it for one, so I had to call and add the second unit. Next Generation notified me that they were coming and set up a time, and then let me know 30 minutes before when they were on their way. The service was great. It made my HVAC systems run efficiently.

We've been having problems with the water heater where the pilot light was going out quite often and hefinally replaced the whole ignition panel. The guy had me take a few pictures the night before and send it to him. He had the part with him and it was ready to go. He had it done within a few hours. I was really impressed with the whole process in general. It was nice not having to jump through hoops and get through things like we did with our previous home warranty company.

It is nice to feel that we've got it budgeted in to have things looked at if they start acting out. Home Shield gives us a little more confidence about reaching out to get help to get things looked at. It makes it manageable. When submitting claims, I look at the website and get an idea of what might be covered. Then, I give them a description and they usually have somebody contact me within 24 hours. Washington Electrician Service came out for an electric issue and it was a loose wire but the outlets seemed to not work all the time. They came back out and did another check. They explained everything to me and I'm completely satisfied.

Apparently, the pipe that was soldered, when he grabbed it underneath the sink, it kind of deteriorated. It had rusted so badly that it needed to be replaced. But it's working perfectly now. I really appreciate Home Shield's services. They’re very prompt and I like the fact that I can set up the claim online. I had a plumbing claim and I had a little bit of an issue with the contractor, Plumbers Inc, because they didn't reach out to me. I initiated the contact and they said something like they tried to reach me but I never saw any messages or anything from them. But once I reached out to them, they went ahead and scheduled.

They were good in scheduling the appointment. It was a fairly quick process. They came out and they thought they fixed the leak that we were having from the bathroom on the second floor down to the first floor. It looked like it worked for like a day. Then the next day, we saw a bunch of water in the library on the floor coming from the shower upstairs. We’ve been putting a bucket there to catch the leak ever since because we need to use the shower. The second time they came out, they didn't have an available schedule so I had to wait for about a week last Friday. When they came out, they said they needed to buy a part so we're still dealing with that issue. But as a whole, I appreciate the fact that the warranty is very prompt and they deal with things quickly.

I called out Draingo to fix one thing and then there was something else they found while they were fixing it. They noticed that something was broken on my flipping between the shower and the bathtub thing. They said I had to put a new order in for that so I did. I had to pay out my co-pay twice, which was kind of annoying because they were just unclogging a drain the first time. I didn't know how to do that so they kinda showed me how to do it.

American Home Shield's website would be better if you could put more specifically what you're needing. Right now, it just says some basic things, but it doesn't really let you put notes in where you can specifically say what is going on. They don't have this category which would've been helpful. The contractor kept on saying that it was not part of what they were here for and they wanna tell you to put in a new claim if they find something else wrong when they're in there doing that. If they're in here fixing this one thing, then shouldn't that all be connected to the one thing?

The first time that I put a claim in online, it did allow me to do two different things because we had two different things going on. They were both really minor things to fix. But the second time I put in a claim, I don't remember seeing an option for a second thing to be added. But I wasn't really trying to add a second thing, so I didn't look very hard. I wish that I had called. It would've been a much better option. Also, I didn't like the contractor that came out.

When the plumber was here for the second time, he said it was messed up in there. I told him that he should be able to fix that because he was in there fixing that problem to begin with. He said there was a small leak inside the little plumbing issue that was causing that little drain thing that pushes between the lever that keeps it from going from shower to bathtub. He told me he was not supposed to do that on this service charge and that I would have to call again because it was a different problem. He was trying to say that I was gonna have to pay another copay. I argued with him until he kind of said that he would fix it. I told him I've already done two claims. I was out $200 this week alone for him to come out here twice and I was not doing another claim. That made me feel like it was scammy.

They did not tell me that the first time they were here that I could've just added the second issue to that first ticket instead of having to pay out $200. So I'm not real crazy about these folks. When the plumber was in there messing with it, I could hear him griping and complaining about it. He was acting mad that he was gonna fix that extra problem he found while he was in there. He was acting like that was against his policy to do so. The whole thing was crazy. I didn't have a great experience.

The condenser of the AC wouldn't come on so the fan would just blow warm air. I submitted online my request and then within a half hour, I got the name of the repair company, and then I could contact them directly or they could call me and we schedule a time for them to come out. Comfort Connection came out and repaired the AC. They replaced a part and it worked for about five days. Then I called again and they came out and determined it was the compressor that was bad. However, I'm not gonna go ahead with the repairs at this point because it's going to cost about $1,000 out of pocket to fix the problem because the warranty doesn't cover the Freon.

Also, it’s a 33-year-old system so at this point, it doesn't seem worth it because something else could go wrong and I still have the cost of the warranty plus the $125 deductible each time the contractor comes out. Since I've owned this house for four and a half years, there's always a couple of calls I've made on the air conditioner. This stuff adds up and so I could just probably replace the thing for the same amount. I'm going to wait until the springtime and replace the conditioner altogether. When it comes to air conditioners, AHS is in the same ballpark as the others as far as what they cover so it’s a standard issue. I'm generally pleased.

I had an air conditioning issue and AHS dispatched Liberty Heating & Cooling to my house. They did an evaluation, determined that it was the compressor and then they came and did the work. They ordered the compressor, got the work done, and then they tested it and they ran into some problems. They checked and one of the final things that was wrong in the whole thing is that the breaker also needed to be replaced. It was popping. Liberty called AHS. AHS then dispatched, which is part of the same claim, Olde Time Electric. They replaced the breaker and the system works perfectly. Then my air conditioner is fixed. I had to pay for the Freon based on whatever the contractual obligations that AHS had versus what I had. I paid that directly to Liberty Heating & Cooling.

My only issue with AHS right now is that I got a letter in the mail saying that I owe $106.63 for Olde Time Electric as a service fee. I called multiple times and they said not to worry about it. But I am worried about it 'cause I don't want them canceling my policy. They have their group of vendors that they deal with for each individual repair requirements and they have their contracts with them, so great. They provided the person or the number of people or potential vendors. But I have to do the follow up to schedule the appointment so I guess that's on the homeowner to do.

American Home Shield is nice to have and at the time when I did it, the other ones didn't offer as much coverage. Just like having your car, you need some insurance in case something happens. Sometimes I don't have the money right off the bat to pay for a repair, but sometimes they got me thinking, "Should I just put this money away and buy the stuff?" I had three jobs this last season. To let them know what's going on and what my requirements are, I talk to the person on the other end of the line, but they are hard to get ahold of. I spend hours on line waiting and then the call drops when I start talking to the person. It's a waste of my time and I don't have that much time to sit around on the phone and wait.

This last person I spoke with was from Trinidad and some of the times, they are people from the Philippines. American Home Shield tells me who they're gonna send, and they try to send the cheapest guys. With the type of reviews they have when you google them (2 stars), they're not entering my place. Also, when people show up, they're not showing up ready to work and there are also people showing up who were not even on the schedule. At first, the documentation came in for Sears, but there were two other companies that showed up to my doorstep without even calling me. That was the first thing that I didn't like. Because nowadays, you can't take a chance with people coming to your door.

When Sears showed up, they came a little bit unprepared and they were coming from 100 miles away. They wanted to enter my place without putting on any kind of disposable shoe cover, and that's one of my pet peeves. I'm a service business owner myself and that's one of the things that I do. They gotta show up with boot covers. They can't just show up, go into people's house and bring all kinds of contaminants in the place. I always tell American Home Shield before they send somebody to make sure these people show up with that and now with the COVID, they got to comply with the COVID-19 protocol.

Sears went back and got something, but I shouldn't have to be telling them to do that. To show up prepared when they enter somebody's property should be standard operating procedure. That's what I do. Other than that, Sears did excellent work. They did their inspection and provided me the information of what's going on with the components. They passed the information on to American Home Shield, but I didn't know if I'm the one who's supposed to call them after the guy told them that the equipment can't be repaired. I talked to the guy this time and I had to spend another four hours on line trying to get ahold of somebody from American Home Shield. It's not good for me. Overall, there's a lot more room for improvement on the issues that I just mentioned.

I called American Home Shield to let them know that I had an issue. There was stoppage in the sink. The first time they sent somebody out, that was fine. I spoke to the plumber and he said to me that because I have a pedestal sink, it's kinda restricting him from snaking the entire pipe. I told him I would have to have it removed but I would have to talk to my insurance company. He said it was not a problem and that he'd write something up. When I received the correspondence through email, it said that my claim couldn't be approved due to a restriction. I already knew that the restriction was the pedestal sink so I called back to talk to somebody about that a couple of days afterwards. They told me that according to my policy, the service couldn't be authorized because my policy did not cover it.

I said, "Ma'am, it's a stoppage. The issue is that there is a restriction due to the sink. If I have the sink removed, how long will it take for you guys to have a plumber come out?" For some reason, the girl could not get that. She tried to read to me what the plumber said. I was trying to explain to her, "I know what the plumber said. I am asking you about coming out to snake the drain. Clearly the service is approved because he was able to do it to two other sinks. The only problem is that there's a restriction." But that was not happening. So, after having me on hold for an hour and 15 minutes, she sent me to another department. She told me that the supervisor was not available at the time.

I had the same conversation and they still denied it. The guy said, "What I can do is I can get you a second opinion." Water Control Plumbing did some work for me before and I said I would like to have them come out because I trust that they're going to do the job and they're gonna explain exactly what took place. He told me that they were not in the queue at the time and that I need to call back. I called back the next day to get Water Control.

I had this sink removed the day after I talked to them 'cause I thought I was not gonna go through this drama. After he called me and told me that it was done, he told me that I didn't have to have the sink removed in order to get the drain snaked. That was just $150 that I spent to have it removed and put another one in. It was very stressful experience and I was not happy. I have never had an experience like that with American Home Shield before but this time, I was so irritated.

I would have liked the representative to have listened instead of trying to convince me that the service was not covered under my contract. She was trying to explain to me that based on my coverage, it was not covered because it wasn't normal wear and tear. I told her, "Ma'am, please help me to understand this. Pipes are in the wall. You're not gonna find golf balls inside of a wall. Nobody's knocking down the wall to damage pipes." Anything that happens inside of the wall is gonna be due to normal wear and tear. She was not understanding that. Instead of her really thinking about what it was I was saying to her, she was still trying to tell me about normal wear and tear. This wasn't due to normal wear and tear and it's not covered. I was so frustrated with the conversation.

The technician from Total Air Care did a wonderful job. But my problem was with American Home Shield. I got another work order request I need to put in. It took me like two days to literally get in contact with someone through customer service. There was water leaking in my garage and inside the house. I started trying to call American Home Shield but I could never get them. I wasn't able to get with them until a couple of days later. After I made the claim, the guy came out about four days later and he did a wonderful job. But the problem was that it took me so long to get in contact with American Home Shield. That water was leaking so much that it really destroyed my garage. So now, I had to file a claim to get my insurance to fix it. If I could have got in contact with the guy earlier, it wouldn't have done that much damage.

It didn't matter what time I called American Home Shield. They just kept me on hold. They should have called me in 35 or 40 minutes. Then after 40 minutes, the phones went dead. It just kept going on and on. Finally, someone called me three days later. But even though this guy from Total Air Care did a wonderful job, he lived two hours away. We have someone that’s also a contractor that lives right around the corner. He told me that he was contracted up with American Home Shield. So I tried to tell the guy that I was on the phone with about this contractor but he wouldn't let me go with him. That right there was really aggravating me. He was just rude for customer service. Also, this guy on the phone sounded like a foreigner and I couldn't understand a lot of things that he was saying.

I’ve had American Home Shield for a year. I liked them as far as the service that the guy did, but I was very disappointed because the wait time was ridiculous. It just became frustrating. I also tried to file a claim online before but they were saying something about my account wasn't valid, which I didn't understand. I went back and checked my payment and my payment was coming out. So I didn't understand why they were saying that. We also have my garage door stop working. But I’ve been busy and I don't feel like going through this long wait line again.

We had an air conditioner go out. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was really simple. We called in and they assigned a contractor that we had worked with before. The contractor was great but we are having a problem with AHS who is trying to deny the claim. The contractor is not sure why Home Shield is denying the claim so the techs came out and took more pictures to send back. They also asked AHS to reconsider the denial. Other than this experience, we have always had a positive experience with Home Shield.

I'm technology-challenged, so I prefer to talk to somebody but American Home Shield prefers you to do the claim online. When I tried to call this time, I never could get through so I resorted to the online platform. I couldn't elaborate on what the issue was though. I was trying to explain that I have an air conditioning unit in my attic and somewhere up there, I now have a water stain on my ceiling. The issue is hard to explain when you just get to click a button.

I had them check my air conditioning unit, but when the tech came out and went up there, he couldn't find anything. He saw some condensation on a pipe and he moved a pan over but he didn't do anything else. He said the air conditioning was fine. I've also had a roofer check the leak, and they said the roof was fine as well. The stain is still there though. Part of it still looks wet and it hasn't changed any since I called American Home Shield. Other than that, the claim went smoothly.

I like how they already scheduled my next appointment, because sometimes they will wait till the part comes, and then they'll schedule it. They were confident that the part was going to arrive before the appointment, and it did. They were very professional. It was a good experience overall.

Our HVAC system was not pumping out enough cold air. South Placer came, checked it out and told us exactly what the issue was. It wasn’t a repair but more of an education of what we were missing from our system. The rep checked out the vents, did a diagnostic and said it’s working. We were happy about it. They did a good job. American Home Shield came with the house and I like that everybody shows up on time. The recommended vendors have been good.

My recent claim with AHS wasn't as rapid as other times. I had to contact several times to get some results. We live in Carl Junction, Missouri, which is a bedroom community outside of Joplin. They had a company out of Nixa, Missouri, which is south of Springfield. It's an hour and 45 minutes from here. It just seems like they could have found someone closer. The company that they hired wanted to charge us almost $1,500 for extras on what they did to our air conditioning system and all they did was replace the air handler. We're not sure if it's really fixed or not. So we had to pay $480. After last year when they came out, we had to put $300 worth of Freon in.

I submitted the claim online. It was over 48 hours before they responded to me. After several days, they sent me an email saying that they disallowed part of the claim because the company that they had hired to come and fix it had all these additional charges for removal of the old unit. I couldn't get a response from American Home Shield about what they were actually paying for. When I called American Home Shield, the woman that I spoke with was extremely rude. Very rude. She wasn't helpful. She wouldn't give me any information.

We had contractors out last year for the AC unit and all they did was replace Freon that was leaking then. We obviously had to have them back out this year. Then they tried to charge us again for more Freon. It was a completely different air handling unit, so it had to be a different kind of Freon. We've also had a claim on my Samsung washer. Come to find out, if I had just called the company that they sent out, a Joplin, Missouri company, it would have been a $55 service call. I pay 49.99 a month to American Home Shield for the service and I don't know that it's worth what we're getting.

We're contemplating right now. Our son and daughter-in-law have it and they've been very happy. They had a heating unit go out. AHS completely replaced their HVAC. They just paid the $100 service call and had no additional charges. They live in Lamar, Missouri, which is north of where we live and they had a company that was local to them that came and did all their repair work. They weren't charged for Freon or anything. All they paid was the $100. So I don't understand why we had all these additional charges and just had the air handler replaced. They didn't replace our entire unit.

It was in the high 80’s and for weeks, my dog, two puppies and I were suffering greatly due to the heat. I turned on the AC and it wouldn’t start. The guy who came was very efficient, knew what the problem was right away and he fixed it. He told me that in 2002, they replaced the air conditioner fan that's out on the patio and that Orange County has a problem with their air conditioners. The builders in Orange County underestimated the cooling process by 18 to 20 degrees, which is quite a lot. So, I've had to adjust going down further to be able to have the air conditioner kick on to cool the condo down.

The owner of the first air conditioner company who came out was a jerk. I would never wanna see any customers have him in their house. The kid came to my door and I let him in and showed him to the patio. I let him outside in the patio and he starts unscrewing the outside part of the unit to be able to see why it won't start. As he was doing that, he said I needed a condenser and maybe Freon. I said okay and he starts putting the condenser on. All of a sudden, somebody came busting through my front door unannounced. He didn't ring the doorbell, didn't knock, and came walking in like he owns the place. The man went to the back patio door and I was looking at him in disbelief. I asked who he was and he said he was the owner. I asked if he normally just busts into somebody's home unannounced without ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door. I couldn't believe his attitude.

The man told the kid to put everything back together and that they were not fixing my air conditioning. I asked what the matter was. The kid was in disbelief and he was shaking his head. I asked why the man why he was doing that and he said that I have all these plants out here. I was suffocating and not letting the unit breathe. I said that all those plants were where they were. There was nothing moved. The only thing that got moved was the plant right there where the guy could get between the plant and the air conditioner. The air conditioner is sitting on a block so it can't go anywhere else and I can't put plants up next to it because it's sitting on that block. The plants do not obstruct anything. They're not around it. There are plants to the side of it, but there's a 3-foot space between the plant and the block that the unit sits on. So it's not being suffocated. It has air space all around it.

The man was totally out there and he had literally lost it. I told him to get out of my house and he didn't like that. He said he was calling the home warranty and telling them that I caused the problem and I have all those plants. I called AHS right away. I let them know what the problem was and told them not to use them and send them out to other customers because this guy was on some kind of substance. It was not booze but he was on something. He had sunglasses on inside my condo which is already dark. The kid who was originally gonna fix the air conditioner apologized and said that he didn’t understand what was wrong with him. He said that he has never done this before, at least on his jobs. I said that he scared the bejeebers out of me because he just busted in through my front door and didn't ring the doorbell.

The kid was gonna fix the air conditioner. He had everything apart to be able to put the condenser on and then check it. He would have been done. The guy made him put everything back together, take the condenser off and have him leave. The kid was so shook up that he forgot his thermometer or some kind of a reader that you stick in the vent inside the house. He walked off without all of his equipment. I complained about that claim three different times to AHS because I was asked three different times about it after the initial call by me.

Filing a claim seems pretty simple, straightforward, and efficient. We do it online, then follow up with the contractor. One of the things that are positive about the experience is the contractor answers the phone, they're responsive, and usually able to get out within the allotted 24 to 48 hours. It seems like AHS picks a high standard for their contractors and we haven't had any negative experiences with two or three of them that we've worked with.

The deductible is a little higher than the other folks, but it's well worth it because the customer satisfaction is so much better and the quality of the work seems to be greater. In other words, you get what you pay for. There was one of the plumbers from another home warranty that upsold us and added things that we didn’t need. But these contractors that we worked with from AHS have a good knowledge of what they're working on, and what they need and what they don't need. We've had a pretty good rapport. One case, the guy fixed the thing on the spot without needing a part. We're extremely satisfied. We're very happy with our recent plumbing claim although sometimes there’s a part that needs backorder. We actually have three policies now after we test drove the service. We added a couple of other properties.

I had American Home Shield a long time ago. I had a previous home warranty company that I was dissatisfied with so I changed and went back to American Home Shield. I’ve had them since February. They have responsible contractors. We had a gas leak so the plumbers fixed it but we had another claim and we couldn’t even understand the person that we were supposed to be talking to. He was in Puerto Rico and he did not even have access to the claim. He was very nice but he was not able to respond to our issues at all because he couldn't access the information. AHS is in a business and they would answer your claim but it would be on the cheapest side possible. They are better than average but they’re not great.

We some time ago had a previous claim and I couldn't get in touch with AHS at all. I tried calling as well as going online and it wouldn't go through. I tried the online chat and you couldn't even get that up. I hope they've improved that because otherwise, they wouldn't be in business long. I tried from Tuesday to Friday and it was just impossible to get any answer to anything because they didn't even say they'd call you back. They'd say the wait time is one hour and 15 minutes.

I had friends that had AHS and they were very happy with it. I got AHS because things break and they're very expensive. It pays in the long run to have a warranty. I put in a request online recently with AHS and the website is good. They sent me an email with a date and time and asked me if that was okay. So it went fine. A guy came out and looked at it. He ordered a burner or the head but then they sent me the wrong one. When I called GE, I thought he'd just switch it out. But then they told me they didn't make the burner anymore. So I called American Home Shield and talked to somebody and he was gonna get back to me. He called GE. When he called back, they were closed. "We could go Monday." So he said he'd call me on Tuesday but I never got a call so I called Wednesday. I got a 60-minute wait.

Then Friday, I called and got no help from them. I called Monday, and same thing, 60 minutes I called, I picked up and somebody got disconnected. So I called them yesterday. Apparently, they called GE and supposedly, somebody is gonna call me shortly or sometime soon with the information on the part. It's been a mess for a week and a half. But this is the first time I've had any problems with American Home Shield. I used them three times and they've always been pretty good. Mess-ups happen once in a while so I'm not really that upset about it yet.

I wasn't too happy with the first group that came out for the AC unit because they came out about three times before they even did anything. Then I asked the guy if he could fix it. He told me that he could but he didn’t have time. I asked him why he would come out here if he was not gonna fix it. The guy was kinda rude and ornery but the second group that came out was wonderful. They also had masks on. But the AC is still not cooling and it’s still leaking water to where my floor is buckling now. I had wood floors in my house. I have a hard time getting through to American Home Shield. I called the AC guys back and I called them about six times, and still no answer.

I’m still waiting for AHS to call me back about my refrigerator. When Affordable Comfort came out, they told me that it was completely gone. It has been over a week now since they came out and I’m still without a refrigerator. I'm not dissatisfied with AHS and I will recommend them because it is a good company. I was with them before. I liked them so I came back. AHS needs to follow up a lot better though. It shouldn't be so hard. When I tried to access them through the internet again, they wanted me to pay another $125 service fee and it hasn't even been 30 days.

When we purchased this home, American Home Shield was part of the purchase agreement. Upon the first warm spell this summer, we decided to try out the air conditioning system. It was blowing just warm air. Obviously something was wrong. It wasn't tested fully during the home inspection because that was during the wintertime. We have the home warranty so we decided to go through the process and put a claim in.

American Home Shield gets to choose who the service provider is. They sent out one contractor who assessed a faulty compressor. But that contractor said they could not do the repair work for American Home Shield so another contractor had to be assigned and that was NW Sundance. They came out and diagnosed a similar problem which is a faulty compressor and possibly some other electrical issues. American Home Shield gives you a dashboard on their website that tells you the status of the claim, and they listed it as completed. I sent in a message saying my AC still does not work. It’s only diagnosed but it hasn't been completed.

It's a $500 one year home warranty policy and they're in the insurance business. They're not gonna make any money off this deal. They're gonna drag it out, and they're gonna use the cheapest parts as possible. I understand the business side of it but there's been very poor communication as to what really the options are. They sent me an email after I gave them a bad review from their website and said this claim has limitations. But I had to call them to find out what those limitations were. I called them this week and the first person they put me through was a young person who was clearly not that experienced. He pointed me to a phrase in the contract in basic modification.

They're saying that the system now has to be modified and that modifications are not covered. I wanted to know specifically then what were the limitations and what are the modifications they're referring to. This person couldn't tell me. After going back and forth and doing some checking, they were telling me I needed to call NW Sundance. I said, “Obviously, you are the ones who contracted Sundance and all the communication so far has been going through you. So clearly, you know something. I think you should contact them and tell me what's going on.” They transferred me to a salesperson but that salesperson gave me the runaround. Finally, they put me to a customer service person who finally told me what the situation was and this was after two hours of waiting and talking.

I finally got the detail of what these modifications were. I asked them to send me that information. They said it's going to take 21 days for them to mail it to me. I said, “We're talking about it right now. Can you just email it to me?” They said they can't do that. Their department is not allowed to. I said, “Let me get a pen and paper then. I'll write down exactly what you can tell me over the phone.” They started doing that and eventually, we were going back and forth. I said, “If you're telling me I need to get all these modifications, then I wanna get my own contractor out here to make an assessment and also to compare to your assessment. If you're telling me this is all gonna be out-of-pocket expense, I wanna be sure what I'm paying for here.” Finally after that, they said they could do a cash out offer. I told them I wanted to go that direction so now, they're gonna have their cash out department call me.

The process is still moving forward. It's been a long process and there has been no resolution. For this particular situation, it's completely unsatisfactory. The home warranty insurance sort of deal is kind of a scam. I talked to both service contractors that came out. They said they don't really like working with home warranty companies ‘cause it is difficult process. But they said in their experience, American Home Shield is one of the better ones. So, if this is one of the better experiences I'm supposed to be getting, I can only imagine what some of the other fly-by-night operations are like out there.

The part that allows the ice to fall down into your cup in the refrigerator door and pull that ice down rotating enough. It took a while for the contractor to get the part then get back. But I don't think that's American Home Shield's problem or the problem of the people that fixed it. Once you order a part at this particular time with everything going on, you don't know how long the part's gonna take. It took about three weeks to get it fixed because of having to wait. I was not without ice because I would have to open the refrigerator door, stick my hand down in the ice maker, and pull ice. That was not sanitary but I had to do that to be able to get my ice out. But now it's working fine.

Two years ago, I had to have a new washer as my panel on my clothes washer fried. It took about six weeks to get it finally resolved. They couldn't get the part then they decided what they were gonna do but by the time it was over, it lasted almost six weeks to get anything done. I had to call back the company three or four times for them to make a decision. Either they could get the part or they couldn't and it took a very long time to figure out. They couldn't even get get it anymore. Then they decided they were going to give me a new machine or give me the money toward a new machine.

I finally got my money and was able to go somewhere else to order me a washer but I was burning mad because nobody could ever figure out what they were gonna do or how they were gonna do it. You ought to know within a few days that you can't get the part and once you can't get the part make a decision on what you're gonna do. Two weeks would have been sufficient. I understand they don't want to put down any more money than they have to, but I'm also paying my money in good faith. I was very perturbed with that situation. I kinda got in a heated discussion with one of the guys and said, "I can't wash my clothes. Do I need to bring my clothes to your house to wash them?" I was at the frustration point and nobody was doing anything. American Home Shield has been okay but the time frame to a person that's taking care of a family can be very valuable.

It was when we were having a 105-degree temperature. The second time the contractors came out, I thought that there was a malfunction with the thermostat not working properly. But he said it's all working properly, it’s just that the unit's just not big enough. AHS's response is within a reasonable length of time. It's not like I'm calling somebody and I have to wait a week. They send someone out pretty quickly and I'm really happy with that.

The top of my stove started with a little crack and then it exploded basically there. The crack got worse and worse. AHS sent someone out and the guy just took pictures. Two days later, I followed up with AHS to find out what's going to be the next step. They said they're going to replace the stovetop. Then I told them that I was also experiencing some issues with my refrigerator as the freezer would not open up. It was just basically hard and not moving. They said they're gonna send someone out. The person who came out did the same thing. He took pictures and said he couldn't find the manufacturer number so he left.

I called again two days later to see when would someone come and fix the stove and what was gonna happen pertaining to the refrigerator. I was told that my stove was not going to be fixed because it looked like someone dropped something there and that was what caused the crack. I said that nothing fell on the stove. For something to have fallen for it to crack, it would have to be like a piece of iron. I didn't have anything iron over my stove to fall on there. It was just some wear and tear. Now, with everyone being home, I know I'm cooking even more than I used to cook before. They refused to fix it. Then I asked about the refrigerator. They said they couldn't do anything because the person wasn't able to find the manufacturer's number to go ahead and order the parts that's needed for the stove.

At that point, I told them that with over 10 years that I've been with AHS, I've never had anything broken. Everything has been fine. The one time I need things fixed in my home, I was having a hard time. They got me someone on the phone and I told him to cancel my policy. He said he would send someone else out to come and check the stove as well as the refrigerator. They sent another gentleman from Sears. When he came, he said that it was simple, there was nothing that fell on the stove and that it was just from wear and tear, as what I was saying. He called and he ordered the parts and fixed the stove. He told me that the gentleman who came out before is pretty new that was why maybe he made a statement like that.

They sent someone else out who pulled the refrigerator out from the space it was in because the manufacturing number was on the back. He fixed the refrigerator. There was nothing wrong with the bottom of it. He told me that I wasn't closing it tightly enough and that's what caused it. It wasn't defrosting and that's why I wasn't able to get it to open. Since he came out, my refrigerator is fine.

What I liked in the past was if there was anything going on, I could get my own person and they would just reimburse that person. Now, I have to use whomever they send and these people that they're sending don't typically know what they're doing. I don't know if I will be staying with American Home Shield because I don't wanna have to deal with the stress of having to go back and forth when something in my home needs to be fixed. Because one thing, they have direct deposit out of my account. They never had an issue getting my payment. Why is this a problem when I need something to be fixed?

I would never recommend American Home Shield to anyone because no one I know had a great experience with them. My mom and aunt were with them. My aunt just canceled her policy because she had an issue with her AC and they wouldn't fix it. My neighbor right across the street experienced the same thing with them and canceled her policy as well. I stay with them because I've just been with them for so long. The money's been taken out of my account. If I was sitting down, writing a check every month, I would never use them.

They do not want to honor their contract. My contract started after a month waiting period on August 11. On August 13th, my AC stop working. They sent a technician from World Class AC, INC. After seeing it. He asked me when it broke. I told him that on August 13th my AC stopped working. He said that my policy is too new, and they are not going to cover it.

I work in insurance and that a person is not cover because of a policy is too new is unheard of. I had a second technician that explained that the compressor is bad. American Home Shield denied the claim and still they want to charge me $200. From their contract: "2. Coverage under this contract includes normal wear and tear malfunctions during the contract term (as defined in Section B). Coverage under this contract also includes malfunctions of covered items which occur during the contract term resulting from the following situations prior to and during the contract term:"

They called my situation a preexisting condition due to, by their contract: "A simple mechanical test is defined as turning the item on and off to ensure that it is operational." In other words. They do not want to cover it and is a preexisting condition because by the simple mechanical test. Umm, isn’t something supposed not to be working at the time I call a technician because something is not working? After all, that is the reason I call them, and I am paying them. That means that every time someone call them because an appliance is not working. They can say is preexisting because it is not working at the time the technician comes. So, when something break. They would not fix it because is broken. So, they can deny every single claim to anyone.

Here is Part d of their contract. "d. Undetectable pre-existing conditions which are defects or mechanical failures that could not have been detected by a visual inspection and/or simple mechanical test. A visual inspection of the covered item verifies that it appears structurally intact and without damage or missing parts that would indicate inoperability. A simple mechanical test is defined as turning the item on and off to ensure that it is operational. While turned on, the item should operate without causing damage, irregular sounds, smoke, or other abnormal outcomes. When completing an American Home Shield (AHS) approved repair or replacement, AHS will pay the cost to:"

So be aware. We can only use American Home Shield on things that work perfectly and do need any repair. Very Scammy... Very scammy. Pretty much just say in the contract. "We will take your money, but we can at our discretion denied all claims at any time." That is why the technician was saying because I had only just started my policy. I should not expect them to cover something.

I have used and recommended AHS for many years. Unfortunately, my opinion has totally changed regarding this company. I am constantly receiving calls from the collections department about a past due balance on my account. I have asked to have the account investigated for validity. With each collections call I explain there are two accounts in my name for the exact same address, of which that account is a duplicate and should have been cancelled and all prior auto-pay transactions should be refunded to me.

Earlier this year a customer service representative told me that she would correct the error and forward my refund. A month later, instead of a refund, they took another auto-pay from my account. I called again to request account closing and a full refund. Again, I was told the error would be corrected and my money would be refunded. When I checked online, the account had not been cancelled. I tried to cancel the auto-pay, but was unable to do so. Therefore, I updated the payment method to a prepaid card with no money on it. I figured this would at least stop them from taking more of my money.

Next, I started receiving emails requesting updating my payment method. When I did not update my payment method, the collection calls began. No matter how much I explained the fact that they owed me and the account was a duplicate, it fell on deaf ears. In fact, the woman continued to talk over me while I was trying to explain. I told her that I did not owe and asked her to look into the matter. She said that was not her job and I could talk to customer care about the issue. She just wanted to know when I was going to pay the amount owed. I was transferred to the customer care line that had over a 90 minute wait time for an answer. I hung up and tried many time after to reach customer service. Every call has over a one hour wait.

Collections continue to call me and no one that I talk to will investigate the matter. They only want to collect the balance on the account. Furthermore, I have not even used either of the policies that they have in my name, although AHS continues to charge me for both accounts. This is very stressful for me, especially in these times. I am going to check my credit report because I do not trust them. I thought I would endure this situation from a company that I trusted for so many years and recommended to so many friends and family members. Of course, this review does not reflect the customer service received from service technicians. I have always received great service when needed. I just want to have this issue resolved with a refund and an end to the harassing collection calls regarding the duplicate account.

In the meantime water was leaking down our walls and ruined our carpet. This company wanted to charge us $26000 for two new units. We called AHS and asked for a supervisor to return our call. That never happened. In the meantime it is 100 degrees outside.

We found a reputable contractor with a higher rating than 1 who could put units in at 8000 less. AHS never called back. Now they are saying since I took it upon myself they will not refund my money. They send a low rate contactor out, send another contractor that wanted to charge a lot more money, waited online to speak with some for 50 minutes to be told it was my problem. We have been with AHS for so many years to be treated this way. Very disappointed to say the least.

Submitting claims to American Hoe Shield has been pretty easy. The capacitor of my AC went out in the middle of summer and I submitted a claim. When I called their contractor Walker Air Conditioning I found that they didn't know that they should call me within 24 hours. That had me a little concerned. Immediately though, Walker Air Conditioning called me and got somebody out to my location. AHS reacted pretty quickly but that was because I called Walker immediately. AHS should make their claims a little faster. We're in Texas and our air conditioner runs 10 months a year. If we have an air conditioner go out, it's a major catastrophe.

I have small kids and when the AC went out, I was already thinking of a contingency plan. We were gonna have to stay in a hotel because our house got up to 95 degrees. The good thing was the repair got done at 9 o'clock. It took a couple of hours to get the temperature back down to 78 and everybody was good. It was an eye-opener but other than that, everything went well. AHS handled what they needed to handle.

The plumber did a wonderful job. He came out to do the kitchen faucet. He also did both of my toilets and my master bedroom shower. I had to recall one of the toilets because it was shooting water out of the side. Had I thought of lifting the tank, I would've realized that one of the little pipes came undone and it was squirting water every time we would flush. It was not the fault of the plumber but he came out and put the little thing back.

Then we ended up having to have him over a total of three times for the master shower because it continuously kept leaking. When he came the first time, he changed what he called the cartridge which is the assembly that goes inside the handle and it kept on leaking. It's that type of handle that it's only one and you move it on either side for hot or cold water. He disassembled it and said he may have put it backwards. It still kept leaking. We had him come out the third time. He said sometimes they get faulty ones and to let him change it out. If it wasn't that, we had an even bigger problem. I was hoping this was gonna be it. He said that if changing it out didn't solve it, then we probably were dealing with the situation of calcification that had already ruined it on the inside which would not be insured by American Home Shield. But the second one did the trick so there is no more problem. But because of COVID, it took a while for him to finish.

I've had American Home Shield since 2008 in previous houses. The amount of surveys that they are sending is new for me and I love that. I also love that they are getting feedback. What I'd like is for them to vet the vendors out a little more - maybe look up the reviews before they choose them. In one month, I had three items go back and it was pricey because it's 75 a pop. My garage door, my AC and the plumbing throughout the house went out. Two out of the three were awful experiences. I speak so highly of the plumber because he kinda restored my faith.

The garage door did that thing where something snapped and the whole door came down. It was super scary because if somebody had been there, they would have died. From the get go, the claim went bad. The contractor called me up and started almost shaming me that he couldn't find the house because the numbers to the house were not on the curb which he was correct about and the one that's on the house itself was being slightly covered by the eaves. But I didn't construct the house. I have no control over that. We hadn't even met each other face to face yet and he was already shaming me on the phone so I didn't appreciate that.

He told me it was my coils and it's not covered by American Home Shield. I thought that was odd. How did he know what I have? I could have had the Basic Plan, the Premier Plan, or the Plus Plan. He said for him to go forward, I needed to pay him $293. I went to my computer real quick, looked up the contract (which by the way American Home Shield makes it so easy to do) and there it was black and white. I was covered for everything. I printed it and brought it over to him. He acted as though he was really researching it and reading it carefully.

Then he said I was covered for one coil but I needed to pay him $75 for the second coil. I said, "Why would I do that?" He said, "Because it's going to snap sooner or later." I asked him, "What you're trying to tell me is in the future, that thing's gonna go?" He said, "Yes. So you can either pay me the $75 now, or you can pay me later when it snaps." I thought I won't pay him ever because it won't be him. I'd prefer to pay American Home Shield another $75 and have whoever comes out that's deserving that $75, not him. I said, "Nope. I can't predict the future. Just please change the one only." He did it in a huff and left.

Since then, just like he said, the second one is squeaking. But I don't care. If and when that happens, I'll call and get the second one replaced but the money won't go to him. I was going to give that company a very bad review and call this person's manager and let them know what kind of customer service he gives and how he speaks to people. If that's the way he speaks to people in general, or is it just females, I'm not sure. I called and he's the flippin owner. I did tell American Home Shield how bad that was but I didn't hear anything from them as though it felt like they swept it under the rug.

The second experience was probably worse than the first one. I have a daughter who has breathing issues through the roof so the last thing she needs is to struggle with getting air or hot air. It was very important for me to get somebody out quickly. It was during one of our heat waves that we were having and the AC was doing that little thing where it would work for two hours then it would turn off, it would work, and it would turn off. I have a good friend who fixes ACs, but he doesn't work for American Home Shield any longer. I told him over the phone what it was doing and what it sounded like. He said to have them check the capacitor. The man came over. I said, "My understanding is that it can be the capacitor." He rolls his eyes at me. I don't know, but it meant like, "Oh, man. Now she's either a, telling me what to do or b already knows, or it's not going to work like I'm planning to do here."

He changed the capacitor. Then, he went to turn it back on and said I'd need to give him $623. I asked why and he said I was completely out of freon that's why it was not cooling down and if I kept using it like that, I'm gonna burn the motor then my insurance won't cover me at all. I thought that was odd. He was only here like 10 minutes. How could he know all of this in 10 minutes? I didn't even see him check the machine. I was texting my friend and he said to ask the contractor to give me the pressure reading. I asked him and he said he couldn't do that anymore. He already took the apparatus off. I said, "If I decide that I'm gonna need freon and I ask you guys to come back, how long do I have?" He said, "You have 30 days. But meanwhile, don't use your machine at all because you'll burn it."

He started to leave and I said, "Wait, wait, wait. Wait a minute. Aren't you gonna give me a receipt?" He gave me this look like I had just insulted his mother. He said, "You want a receipt? I have to give you receipt?" I said, "Yes, of course you do. How will I know? How will I have proof of what you did here today?" He practically threw the old piece that he replaced. He said, "Here. Here's your old one." He got really huffy with me. He went to his truck, wrote out this receipt and gave it to me.

I had my friend come over and he checked it. He said there was nothing wrong with my freon. It was my blower motor. He told me to call American Home Shield back, tell them that I want somebody else, explain to them that I had a medical emergency and that I already know what I need. I called American Home Shield, explained what happened with the first guy and asked them not to send me that guy. They gave me an emergency company that came out. They called me at least the very next day and I explained. The lady said, "We're two weeks out because of the heatwave that we're having and because of COVID. You'll need to pay $50 as an emergency fee." I went and did it. It's better than to go to the emergency room with my daughter.

The second guy was so awesome. He made sure that he had the part on his truck before he came out. The guy not only fixed it but he completely made sure that everything was running smooth. I explained my medical need so he double-checked everything. He made it run. He stayed there for like 15 minutes to make sure nothing was going to turn off. It was great experience. I'm an example of a really good experience and two very bad ones and American Home Shield made right on the bad experiences.

When submitting claims with AHS, I log on to the website and it gives a step-by-step of whatever will happen. Once in a while, when I'm trying to find an issue, it's a little bit hard to navigate through. It was hard to find how to get to submitting a claim for the sewage smell. I had to get to stoppage and found a drop down to see "smell". But overall, it's pretty easy to submit a claim on there.

We were having an issue with the sewage smell in our upstairs bathroom and the kitchen sink wasn't draining because of an issue with our garbage disposal. Blue Ridge Mountain got the garbage disposal fixed. For the bathroom, the first time they came out, the tech said there was some silicon wax ring on the toilet and that was why we were getting a sewage smell in the bathroom. He changed those out but he had to come out a second time because it was still having a smell. My wife was there and he ended up putting canola or vegetable oil down our tub drain to see if that's where the smell is coming from. The next day, the city was out doing smoke testing. We had smoke come into our bathroom upstairs and we called them to let them know about that.

Somebody came back out a couple of weeks later and determined that the issue was whoever had the house before us had the exhaust fan piped into the sewage vent for the house. He said that he would have to get in touch with his boss and they would have to get in touch with Home Shield and let us know how we're gonna proceed from there. It's been about two weeks and I've had no callback from them to follow up. And every so often, I would get this terrible sewage smell in my upstairs bathroom.

Everything was excellent with Southern Air Conditioning. They were prompt, on time and very professional. They kept me abreast of when they arrived and when they did the job and completed it. They wore masks and everything safety. They did the right thing. Home Shield is the best too. I always use Home Shield. My real estate agent from Carolina One recommended them and ever since I had them, I had no problem. Everything worked out great.

Home Shield does the right thing. When we do use them, it's gotta be an extreme emergency and something that they cover. I call them, I get a date and it's taken care of. Some people procrastinate and take their time until something happens. I'm letting them know, "No. Call Home Shield. Pick this program up beneath your belt. It's one of the best things that's going on." If you want a worry-free relationship to get things done, you might want to go with them. There are other companies out there. But to me, they are not producing like Home Shield. Their price may be $2 more, but that's okay. The service I get out of Home Shield, I can tell somebody I experienced it and don't have that problem. I find that with all the properties I buy, I always get this. I have three properties, and each one had Home Shield, and that was one of the best things that happened. I plan on keeping them for a long period of time. They're highly recommended.

The extended home warranty was with American Home Shield when I bought this house and I've continued to go with them. Submitting claims has been easy, as long as I go online, but if I try to go over the phone, it's not. I had a problem with an oven a few years back and could not get them on the phone. It was 45 minutes of waiting and the delivery people wouldn't wait any longer and they left. The oven didn't fit the space and then Home Shield tried to charge me for part of that. It was a fiasco. They need to work on answering the phone.

Also, they could improve a little on their service people. There was a pool company that came before and they weren't very professional. They made me wait like four days to even come out and then the person that I had to schedule everything with was rather snotty. But Knock Out Pools who came out more recently was great.

One of the springs on the garage door opener was broken. It was on the bar that goes across the top and the tech replaced it. Then I asked him how much longer the other spring was gonna have before it went out. He said that sometimes, they could go a long time but sometimes, they could break pretty quick. So I had him also replaced the other one and I paid for that. He looked at a couple of other things that needed to be fixed and he fixed those also. So it was a really good experience on that because I got a lot of things fixed that I didn't even realize were wrong. He did a very thorough job of getting me fixed back up. It was really good.

My washing machine was acting up and the tech got under there and determined the issue. He ordered the parts and then he came back yesterday and got it fixed. So we're in good shape with the washing machine too. So far, the warranty has been great to pay off things that went wrong. I've had them out here several times. It's the first time I've ever had a home warranty on the house I've owned. It proved to be very fruitful and very helpful this year on this older house that I bought. They fixed everything I asked them to fix. But I didn't realize when I had it that you have to pay $75 every time you call in to get a service call. So I spent a little bit of money. But I also saved a lot of money by getting all these things fixed. I like the fact that they send an email or a text message with the guy's picture on it, showing me who's coming in and about what time they're gonna be here. That was helpful.

But the HVAC company that AHS sent out was trying to get money out of me. They came to my house and told me that I had to pay. They didn't know the dollar amount. They were between $700 and $900 to fix it. I told the tech that it was coming under my warranty. He said that I was gonna have to come out of pocket 1,500.

They tried to get me to buy a whole new system for $10,000 and told me I could pay on it monthly instead of trying to fix it. My AC was still blowing air at my house but he cut it off completely. This was during the month of July and I have a newborn baby that lives in my house. I didn't appreciate that. AHS said it wasn't covered in my warranty. I wound up coming out of my pocket $2,000 and buying another coil for my AC. Besides the HVAC, everything else I needed done in my house has been perfect.

That was done when my wife was there, but I know they fixed the problem. Also, my wife is a public health officer and she had nothing but good things to say. On another occasion, I had issues with a contractor where the work that was done had to be redone later on. A wire was not secured and it was hitting on the fan of the air conditioner. We had no air conditioning at all. The fan would work but that was about it. The condenser unit and the evaporator unit were totally shot. When the contractors came out to look at it, it didn't take very long to know that it was completely shot which is nice. He was an expert. When they came out to replace it, he was very kind, very straightforward and did his thing.

He was very talkative too, which is nice 'cause he was telling me how he was doing it, what he was doing, giving me advice on other repair things that I could do to the house, like all around. He just installed everything and did very well too. Definitely a great experience with him. He's gonna be doing our furnace next because our furnace wouldn't even work right now. This is the first time we've ever had AHS so it's a month and a half now that we've had them. Luckily, when we moved in, we had AHS as our home warranty, which saved us a lot of money which I'm very thankful for.

It was just the air conditioners were back-ordered and it was just hard and we didn't have air conditioning during those hot weeks. But now, everything was good with AHS. They were very prompt in communicating, especially for out of pocket costs. They called and said the unit was covered but there are some things that are not, and they listed them for me. So instead of going in blind for cost-wise, they were very quick to say something.

Quality Air has been coming to my place. Quality Air Experts came to the property and they were pretty prompt. They usually help us. But the only problem I had was that the condenser had to be changed and they asked me to pay 700 bucks. That should have been covered by American Home Shield. Then the AC wasn't working so they came back again after seven days. There was a leak that should have been fixed in the first place. The coil was not working in the first place. But they were charging me 850 for the coil. They placed the order but they said that unless I paid, they would not change it. We pay a membership fee every month for the warranty and we have to pay the deductible when the plumber or AC guy comes in. Then they come in and say that things are not working and they are not covered so I have to pay more. So, at this point, I don't even know I should keep Home Shield.

I had a similar issue with my tenant on another rental property I had. This was four months ago. At first, AHS gave me United Temp. They told me the problem and asked me to call AHS. I called AHS and they said that since Cool Factory came and fixed our AC, it was under a one. year warranty so they should come back and fix it. Cool Factory refused to come because they would not pick up the phone. Then I called American Home Shield multiple times, so I just gave up. I called AHS back but they kept making me go around in circles for almost 15 days. I went to Walmart and bought some portable AC. Obviously, the bill was through the roof. I paid 600 bucks to install the window AC.

I should be able to use American Home Shield for my repairs. But then I had to call somebody else and I had to spend money out of pocket, which pretty much came to the same thing or less. So I dropped them because it was a rental property. I just used it one time in one year, and I paid them 60 every month and I paid 150 for the guy to come in and look at the issue and they not fixing it. I was not very happy.

American Home Shield is not a good company. They are such a bad company to work with. They can promise you sun and the moon, but when I need them, they don't help me. And this is a prime example, Cool Factory. Cool Factory did not even return my phone calls. I had them call. AHS was trying to call them and trying to send them emails out but there was no response. Every time, AHS has an agent sweet-talk to me. There is always an Asian lady who speaks to me. They're very nice but I've not had a single moment where I could find somebody who can speak clear English. They'll go through the entire problem list and say that somebody will call me back. Then two days go by and nobody calls.

Regardless, submitting claims to American Home Shield has been very easy. Recently, I got notice from them asking if we wanted to house our house rekeyed. It would be a $75 charge and I told them "Yes". AHS identified who the contractor would be and I called that company to schedule the service. I had to change the date once and the person whom I spoke with was very accommodating. We rescheduled and he kept me informed. The tech came when he said the tech would. It was great.

The first time SAP came out to fix my garbage disposal, the gentleman didn't fix it correctly and he wasn't as neat as I thought he should have been. I'm over 70 years old and I’m trying to be careful. When he left, I turned the faucet on and it was leaking from the pipe. And he put a new one on. I called right after he left and asked if he could come right back to tighten both of the screws. The clerk said they would not come out for that and that it’s something different. They said they don’t fix stoppages and I have to pay another fee. She was rude. I said I pay Home Shield every month, they take the money out, and I haven’t had any trouble with them. It needed to be rectified. I’ve been waiting for days.

I called Home Shield and I explained to the young lady the attitude of that other young lady. She asked me to wait and hold on. She said they would fix it and asked if it was the same problem. I said it’s not a different issue. The tech didn’t fix the pipe and water went all the way back into my dishwasher. She told me to hold on again and when she came back, she told me they’re gonna come out and fix it for no charge. I told her to not send those people from SAP out to my home ever again. The second person they sent out was so nice. He put his paper shoes on to come into the house. He tightened up the pipe and that was all that needed to be done. The water from the dishwasher came out. He apologized for the inconvenience I had. I haven’t had any more trouble with it.

That was my first time having a problem. If I had to offer a suggestion, it would be to make sure that the person's attitude is okay when they are recommending a vendor to a client's home. Other than that, they've sent Royal Flush to fix my AC and they are simply beautiful. They’ve been back in my home and I've had no problem. I’ve been very satisfied with Home Shield's service.

The capacitor in the house went out. I set an appointment and then American Home Shield sent me an email saying that Climate Control Heating & Air was gonna show up on this date. I called the company and they didn't call back. Then I got an email on Monday morning saying that they were coming that morning. Then the guy called me five minutes prior to him coming out. Besides the whole not knowing when they'd come, the guy who came out was pretty good. It was like a heating situation. When he came in, I wanted to make sure that everything was running besides the capacitor. He just replaced the capacitor and he just said that the capacitor was good. It is running and then the pressure on the lines is good. It was just an in and out type of situation. I could've replaced it myself, but I couldn't get it. They weren't at the hardware store. Overall, they were pretty fast with it and everything was fine.

American Home Shield is very responsive and quick. I've used them for three different services and everything has been smooth. Someone gets back with me right away and the coverage has been great. There hasn't been any discrepancies with anything. When I put in the service order for my AC, I had a choice to pick one of the two companies. There was Total Air Care who had come out to my house before and I had been pleased. Then there was another company that came out last year, too. But I picked Total Air Care just because it was such great service when I used them.

Every precaution for Covid was taken when Total Air Care came. When I answered the door, the technician wasn't up on my door and he stepped back. He also wore a mask when he was in my home. The technician that had come out left his ladder at my house. I told them that I put it on the porch. Then when the tech came back to pick it up, he actually followed up with me to be sure everything was still running correctly and if there was anything while he was still there. He was very nice and professional.

The compressor went out on the AC unit in the middle of the night. When we called American Home Shield, they said it was gonna take two days for the contractor to get out here. It's 100 and something degrees in Florida. Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating got here and it took them 15 minutes to do the job and they were gone. They did fine. That was a $1,000 fix. I just spent $75. It's nice to have the warranty when you don't have that extra money. I’d recommended American Home Shield to everybody, especially to young couples. It's peace of mind. So I believe it was a leak. It took a week for someone to come out after I filed a claim online. Once the tech got here, it was good. He repaired it that day. They gave us a six-month warranty and so far, so good. Sometimes American Home Shield is good and sometimes it's bad. If you need something to happen right then and there, it is no good. Everything from A to Z was great with the representative. She asked me if I'm available two days from that day and told me the available hours on that day, and I picked one. She also said that I would get called by sub-vendors. Then All City Appliance came out. The guy was great and knowledgeable. He told me what was wrong and what parts needed to be replaced. He made it very quickly and it was fixed.

It was very annoying to have to dry the water that was leaking from the refrigerator every day. We had to watch out because it could hurt the wood underneath. We always had to keep our eye on it. We are so relaxed now. The ice in the refrigerator was taking too much space and we had a lot of space in the freezer. Now, we have more space and with no icing issue. We are able to remove whatever we want to right now. We feel much better.

He ordered the part that he needed and came back when he said he would and got everything fixed. We thought the fan was messed up on the microwave. But a day before he was scheduled to come back here, it started working again.

Instead of having to take the thing down out of the wall and do all this, he said he would hang on to the part and if I needed him, just give him a call and he’d come to take care of it. But it's been working fine and everything else was fine. The contractor was very efficient and very professional. He was quick too. He didn't drag it out. I couldn't believe how it didn't take him any time to do it. I would definitely recommend them to do other work. I would also recommend American Home Shield. I also submitted a claim with them that had something to do with my hot water heater early on, and it was a tiny little part that the contractors needed to replace and the same thing. Everything was done quickly and efficiently.

American Home Shield has been very quick about getting our claim signed in and getting it set up and everything. I've only had to pay one copay. I just go online and tell them what it is that is messed up and pick from a few choices of what it's doing. If it's not one of those choices, I hit other. They will tell me that they've assigned a contractor and then somebody calls me the next day.

My dryer issue has started in June and it still screams like the banshees of hell living in my dryer every time I turn it on. I got a Doberman Pinscher. I can't run the dryer when she’s in the house ‘cause it hurts her ears so bad. I did laundry at my sister's house for five weeks. Then, the tech finally got it done but before the third load, it was squealing again. They thought they got it fixed. Then they didn't, so I had a callback.

It took about a week and a half and he fixed it at that time. Then that very evening, it started squeaking again. And he told me this whole big thing about what it could be and he talked to a buddy of his. He was gonna order the parts but because of the holiday, it probably wouldn't get there on Monday. It would get there on Tuesday and then I texted him on Wednesday. And he said he would call me at noon after he checked the status, and I haven't heard another word from him. And I got an email stating that my claim had been closed. So I turned it around and reopened it for a revisit for the same thing.

The technician had been out there four times ‘cause he came out and diagnosed it the first time and didn't have a single part with him to fix even though I told him what was wrong with the dryer. So, he had to come out. He listened to it and he knew what it was. Then he ordered a part and it took two weeks to get the parts in. After that, it took him a week to get out there to fix it. So I was waiting on my first appointment, waiting on him to get the orders and get the parts and all that stuff was already five weeks. I was dragging my laundry every week to my sister's house to wash. I’m too old to carry laundry around and I'm very dissatisfied at this point.

I have been on hold with American Home Shield for as long as 45 minutes. They offered a chance to have them call me back so I didn't have to stay on hold. But other than that, it's not bad. It's just the time and not being able to speak to him. But they assigned a person and that person calls you back. They're pretty quick at that. So, it’s not all bad but they still haven't fixed my dryer and this has been going on all summer.

The first time the contractor came out, they found one leak. But there was another leak so they had to come back out. That time, they found the other leak and the AC's working. They were excellent. I've heard horror stories about people having leaks before and someone telling them they had to replace this whole part of the unit and give them $2,500. The only thing that it cost me was 300 for the AC refrigerant that they had to replace 'cause everything leaked out. The whole repair though was taken care of and it was great. It wasn't unreasonable cost either. American Home Shield covered up to 10 pounds of freon and it was $45.

I like American Home Shield. I had Choice Home Warranty before that and the only time I ever had to call them, they came up with a bogus excuse on why they weren't gonna cover the repair. I had paid upfront like $900 for that policy then they were not gonna do it. I asked them to refund me all my money 'cause the first time I had to call them for service, they didn't do anything. They refunded me and I moved to American Home Shield. I've had American Home Shield before and it was my fault 'cause I thought I could pay for three years in advance and it was cheaper. But get the one that actually works, pay it monthly, and be good.

I've recommended my sister to switch from Choice Home Warranty to American Home Shield. She's not had to use it. Her house is only two years old. But you never know when something's gonna break. I told her, "You need to go with American Home Shield because Choice Home Warranty is just going to not take care of you." With American Home Shield, I'm happy with everything. I feel secure that if something breaks, it's gonna be handled and it's gonna be handled fast. I put a claim online and within a day, I had someone here. Whereas at Choice Home Warranty, it took four days for someone to show up and it was ridiculous.

I had a leak in my air conditioning and it ripped through the drywall which is not good for somebody who lives in the Coachella Valley. I called because I figured that kind of a problem would be a more than a $600 deductible. A plumber from Intercity Plumbing came out here. They went up on the roof. That pan was leaking and they did clean that up. My air conditioning is working fine now except for the damage of the drywall.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and they've been very good to me. As long as they send out contractors, I'm okay. But I wasn't happy with one thing. A contractor came for the dishwasher. He looked at it and said to me that I was missing something called an air gap. He did replace my garbage disposal which was leaking but he would not touch the dishwasher unless I had an air gap and that it was something that was done by the people that inspect homes. What's disappointing is I didn't get done what I was supposed to have done. They were coming out here and American Home Shield was charging me the extra $125 for that, that, and that but he refused to do it. I have found out later that a lot of the new ones don't even require the air gap on there. But I loved the guy who came out. He was really good. He looked at my garbage disposal and had no problem replacing it. It took him five minutes to do it. It's not his fault that I didn't get done what I was supposed to.

You can file the claim online which is two seconds. But you call American Home Shield up with a problem and it's a two hour wait. That should be fixed. I like the phone call that says, "We've got your phone number and we will call you back in an hour and a half," 'cause then you know that you're on the roster and you'll be expecting a phone call back. That's a great thing to have. The other day, it was two and a half hours on the phone then they disconnected me. I told them I'm going to the bank and I'm gonna stop the payment on the third $125 because I'm not waiting two and a half hours to have them hang up on me. Two and a half hours is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm gonna call American Home Shield and have them buy me out on the appliances because the replacements were absolutely awful especially when you have a kitchen like mine which is a $35,000 kitchen. I'm still looking at an unfinished kitchen and an unfinished drywall. Those are very important things. But I'm so grateful to have air conditioning. It's 120 degrees outside and they were here immediately. The people that came out were very good. They were there on time, professional and honest.

But once I got into my email and figured that out, I went in and went to the sign that connects on how to get the claim done. They give you an option of what you want to do. If it's electric or plumbing, you click plumbing and they give you a list of plumbing things underneath your warranty. You then click that specific one and you send it out. Right after, you just set an appointment with whoever gets the dispatch call. I've had American Home Shield for two years now.

For a recent claim I had where there was a little clog in my kitchen, Mister Plumber was sent out. The technician was wonderful. He was really nice and professional. He didn't give me any bad vibes. He told me what the issue was, unplugged it, and kinda walked me through on what I could do to kinda lighten up the plumbing situation. He told me everything that he was doing as he was doing it. I would definitely call him again if I had any issues. It was great.

We were having issues with toilet flushing and backup of poopy looking water in the shower. Every time I saw that happen, I would turn on all the water in all of the house and everything would start working again. But after a couple times, it was clearly not getting fixed. So, we called AHS to submit a claim and the tech they sent out told us that our pipe was a size where their large auger would probably damage the pipe. He also said that their smaller auger wouldn't clean it out but wouldn't do any damage, and it would potentially get most of what the issue was. He said mostly what he was finding was sludge up against the walls, so it was probably one of those things where it would clog and not clog, and clog and not clog. So ever since we did the small auger cleanout, we haven't had any problems. The tech was also very helpful and he explained things.

I had an issue with my AC and AHS sent out A & R Complete Service Corp. The techs wore masks and didn't stay in the same room at all. They checked my AC and they said that nothing seemed to be wrong. All they did was reset the switch. Then, my power kept going out even after they reset the switch, so they said it was an electrical issue. So I had to call my home warranty again and pay for that service for an electrician to come out. It turned out that the wire had melted on my air conditioning unit, which was not a covered item. So $700 later, my air conditioning works again because they had to replace the wire. But they said there's still a possibility that the air conditioning unit may still go out.

I've had to call my home warranty for five different times, because I kept thinking it was one problem and it wasn't that so I'm always paying these service fee. Then it would turn out that the melted wire had nothing to do with the home warranty so the $700 was something I wasn't expecting. Now, I'm debating whether I need to renew my policy because if I have to put out that kind of money anyway, and I have only a one bedroom unit, it might be more cost-effective to just pay out of pocket. The people that AHS sent out were fine but the things that I've had done were something so minor, yet cost me the $75. For my last claim, had I known it was an electricity problem from the beginning, I could have saved at least $150.
