    After years of paying premiums with no claims our washer gave out, so finally a chance to use our policy. Called AHS, told them the drum was spinning unevenly and smoking - clearly the drum needs replacing I say. 10 days later a repairman shows up, of course looks at the drum for 10 seconds and declares it needs to be replaced. Now AHS is supposedly looking for replacement parts (parts and labor clearly more than replacement cost of the machine) with no indication of when that search will end, the timing of replacement if they find the parts, or their intentions if they don’t find the parts. The ticket shows as ‘closed’ in my online account so the only source of info is me calling AHS every day, waiting on hold, and re-explaining all of this to a new operator. Short story, 3 weeks, no washer, no end in sight. AHS is a complete waste of money and time! DO NOT BUY!

    Our air conditioner was not working. It was running all the time but no cold air was coming out and the compressor wouldn't go off. My husband had to turn it off at the breaker. I called American Home Shield and paid the $75. This was on a Friday night and on Monday afternoon, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and their tech found that a fuse had blown. He changed some little bracket fuse. He also started checking the lines back and there was a kink in the line. The Freon had finally just busted through it. All the Freon was gone so he had to put 8 or 10 pounds of Freon in, plus replace that whole piece.

    American Home Shield pays for Freon but they never updated how much Freon has gone up over the last few years. I had to pay the tech $300. The Freon is $40 a pound and American Home Shield only pays 10. I like American Home Shield and I'm glad I have them. But they need to update their Freon because it is not $10 anymore. It hasn’t been for a number of years.

    Overall, my experience was poor because I was on hold before I got a representative. I understand being on hold for a while, but it was a hair over two hours and that was excessive. I also tried to use the online option and it would not accept the codes that they had given me. I had my numbers from my account. I had to call and when the lady came on, she said they must have inverted a number. She told me I could’ve gone online and I told her I tried but it kept saying I didn't have an account with American Home Shield. She looked at it and said it was a mistake on their end and that she would fix that. I hope it is fixed. If it's not, then the next time I'm gonna have to get on hold.

    We had been out of town and came and air conditioning had frozen. It wasn't working so I called American Home Shield. They sent a guy out here that said the blower went out. He was a young man, pretty nice, professional, and courteous. He did a good job and fixed it, but just the other day, the blower was making noise. I have to call the contractor back and they have to send someone back out here to see what's going on.

    We have two air conditioning units and one of them wasn't giving us cold air. Between the request time and the time that somebody was available was a week so that was kinda long. But it was during a hot period so I imagine they were busy. When Super Air did come out, they were very pleasant. I showed them what needed to be done and the guy said there was a compressor that needed replacing so he did so. He checked to make sure that we had cold air out of the register before he left.

    We've lived in this house since the end of 2009. The realtor gave us a year's service as part of the startup for having a new home. We let it lapse once then we decided this is an old enough house that having the service was beneficial so we reapplied. Over the 11 years, we've had 10 years of service with American Home Shield. It's gotten easier over time in being much more automated. Everything pretty much is online. I just have to sometimes look up the information about the appliance like the make and the brand. But other than having to check on that kind of thing, it's reasonably easy to request service.

    For the most part, American Home Shield is pretty responsive in getting us a service provider that lives in the area. There was just one time when it wasn't automatic and I had to kinda check back because we hadn't heard. But for the most part, it's been pretty simple and efficient. The people providing this service, it might vary with company but they have been polite and responsive and usually the problem is resolved.

    The AC claim went fine. The person came out in a timely fashion. He is supposed to call back to do a follow-up but I haven't gotten that yet. He said they usually do it within two to three weeks just to make sure that the AC is still functioning properly. However, for the refrigerator claim, it has been a very unpleasant experience from day one. American Home Shield told me that contract relations was gonna call me. Amtec Services was originally called for the service on July 1st and they came out to fix the refrigerator. They came out again on July 21st for the same issue. When the refrigerator was still not fixed, they had to come again on July 25th. From July 25th, the refrigerator worked for probably about two or three more times then they were called out again for the same issue on August the 9th. They were supposed to be ordering another part from August the 9th.

    From this time, I've called American Home Shield approximately eight times and I've also called Amtec seven times. When I called them, they told me that they never heard anything from American Home Shield of them asking for a follow-up regarding the part. I called in to get a follow-up regarding the part and they would always tell me that somebody was gonna call me back but nobody ever called me back. There's some type of miscommunication there.

    When I call American Home Shield, they say, "We just need an update for them to put into the system. If they can't order the part, then we will." I tell them this has been going on now approximately six weeks at this point. They tell me it's due to parts not being available. I told them it's not a part issue. I can understand there's a pandemic and they can't get the part. But this is a miscommunication issue where Amtec is not taking the responsibility of responding back in a timely fashion for us to understand what's the next step for the refrigerator to be fixed.

    Meanwhile, I've already paid for the service. I've been paying my monthly fee and everything's on time but I'm doing most of the communication. I've been asking for American Home Shield to call me back and give me updates but I've gotten none of that. I've asked for Amtec to call me and give me an update regarding what's gonna happen next but I've gotten none of that too.

    I spoke to another gentleman today regarding the whole situation. He said he spoke to Amtec and they said that the part should be in probably sometime this week. I've told him that my food has gone bad and I've wasted almost $200 in food. The refrigerator obviously is inoperable and this is going on almost like a three-month process. They either just forgot to order it or it just was not a priority. When I asked the lady from Amtec if they are short in staff, she told me no. They're not short on staff. They don't have any issues with their production or people coming out and doing the service.

    I really don't know what the issue is. However, I, the customer, am not feeling like this is really working. I asked them if they could just replace the refrigerator but American Home Shield has just been running circles around me when I bring up that. I told them why don't they just get another company to come out. They didn't wanna do that either. They didn't wanna bring out another company to come and check it out 'cause then they won't have to charge me another $100. But how can they charge me $100 for a service that still hasn't been completed and it's not been provided?

    They're not asking to give me like a comparable pricing. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they don't have a supervisor. They just have an escalation team but they won't give me the number for the escalation team. I had to buy a small refrigerator in order for me and my family to eat out of that, which obviously, you can't hold much stuff in it 'cause it's like one of those little college refrigerators, until they get this whole situation done. But again, still, here I am, now on the 20th of September, and my refrigerator is still not fixed.

    Amtec is blaming American Home Shield, American Home Shield is blaming Amtec, then Amtec says that it's their parts department. Then the parts department now is saying they do have the part so I told them to come and fix it. American Home Shield called them today and they said they told them the part should be there tomorrow. In the middle of the conversation, the rep said, "Oh, they just updated again. It won't be there until Thursday." This has been constant. No major follow-up has been happening. It's been me reaching out to try to get assistance.

    I also had a plumbing claim and that's another issue. I'm a female and I don't know what part is what. I told the rep that I was having a plumbing issue and American Home Shield said I needed to be more explicit on the type of plumbing issue. I told them I didn't really know how to explain it. Another thing is I just moved into this house. I won't really know what I have and what I don't have until I'm utilizing some of the stuff that's in here. I said, "I think there's something wrong with the pipes." They said they'd put it in as the water heater.

    The guy came out and I was telling him the pressure wasn't coming out properly from some of the pipes. He went and looked at the water heater and I said it was not getting hot enough. He went to the water heater and turned it up. That was supposed to make it warmer. Then he said it was not a water heater problem. He went back to American Home Shield and wrote in the report that they fixed the water heater by turning up the temperature. He went in there and turned a knob twice, literally two notches. American Home Shield stated it was the water heater. I said, "No. I said I had a plumbing issue. You told me I needed to specify what type of plumbing issue. I'm not a plumber, so I don't know how to specify."

    When they put the order in, American Home Shield said, "No. To fix those parts to the sink is gonna be another order. You have to pay another $100." I paid $100 for him to turn my temperature up? That's crazy. They said that was the only thing that they could do at that point. Needless to say, I'm not paying another $100 for them to fix the sink so the sink still doesn't work because it doesn't have any pressure. I'm out of money and I still have items that are still not fixed.

    The motor would run but no air would come in so the gentleman came. He couldn't see anything but he said it was a little low on freon and put a pound of it. Within seven days, it was having the same kind of difficulty so American Home Shield sent another contractor. They did not charge for that one 'cause it was so soon. That gentleman put a capacitor on that air conditioner. He said if that didn't work, then probably it would need a compressor. The air conditioner's 14 years old but it's working right now so there's nothing we're complaining about.

    We've been here nine years and we've had American Home Shield at least five years. I seriously would like to stop American Home Shield because I do not think that if and when the air conditioner will need to be replaced, that they really do anything about the replacement. I do get it for all my appliances but I can't get anyone to answer. American Home Shield is the worse place to get an answer to. But as far as the servicemen that have come, they have done a good job. They've been very polite. They've done the best they could with what they had.

    My air conditioner wasn't blowing out cold air. So, Pete came and fixed it quickly. American Home Shield's claims process is pretty simple. I submit a claim, then they'll send me an email with the company that they're sending out for me, and then I click on the link and then go on their company and schedule my appointment. A person comes out whenever I schedule the appointment for. Having the home warranty is great because I could pay way more to have someone to come out to service my air conditioner, and it was only $75 when it could have been more than it.

    The hot water heater went out. We called to submit a claim with AHS. The vendors came and they said it needed to be replaced. However, the new hot water heaters have different air vents on it than the other ones did. So, the technician had to order it. But he was able to get the old one started. We still had hot water in the meantime. Everything has been fine since then.

    Many years ago, I was a Realtor and I started giving a one-year funded American Home Shield warranty to all my buyers as a closing gift for two reasons. It gave them peace of mind and if something didn't work in their new house, I wasn't the guy getting the complaint. They'd just call American Home Shield and have it taken care of. So when I bought my house 34 years ago, I signed up with American Home Shield almost immediately. And they have been wonderful. They're efficient, helpful and available.

    It's very easy to submit the claim with American Home Shield online. The last time I spoke with customer service was for the service on our furnace and it was difficult because the person at American Home Shield spoke very broken English. I could hardly understand. But the tech from GW Jones Heating & Cooling was marvelous. They replaced the coil of the air conditioner and some steel ductwork, and they were wonderful. The unit has been fine since. It'll help with the heat ‘cause the old one was pretty shoddy.

    Home warranties are problematic in nature. I've had many claims with American Home Shield done so far and overall, they've been fine. The claim submission is great and easy to do. But they should expand coverages. The rekeying done by Pop-A-Lock was very good. It took them less than half a business day to schedule. The service was timely, professional, and efficient. They were here for maybe 20 minutes. I felt very good about the precautions they took.

    I had no hot water and I put in the claim to American Home Shield on Friday. I was contacted by the service company on Sunday and they made an appointment for me between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. That was awesome seeing that I went a whole weekend without any showers, which wasn’t pleasant. The service guy called me up in the morning and said that he was 45 minutes away. He asked me what I was expecting and I said that this water heater is about 15 years old, so it might be replaced. He said he would check it out.

    The technician got here hours early. He and I went downstairs and he looked at it physically without touching anything. He said it was old but it looked like it was in good shape. So, that satisfied me. He said that he doubts if American Home Shield would replace it. I said that I just need hot water. He said he would have hot water for me within five minutes. He replaced the thermocouple and we have hot water, which was all I cared about. I thanked them and he left. He was a very nice young man. He did his corona protocol and came in with his mask and booties on, which was very professional to me. It was a very pleasant experience and my lady said that they should give him a raise.

    The first time I had a claim with AHS, the contractor said they would have to take out the tub and everything else and it wasn’t something that AHS would cover. It wasn't normal wear and tear. They charged $100 and told me they couldn’t do anything. The hardest part was nobody would talk to me. I would call and ask what the problem was and they said they would find out and get back to me. I had to keep calling and calling. It was one of those things where if you're waiting for an agent, you wait for an hour and 55 minutes. They didn't give the option of calling back or anything like that. It was ridiculous. I read a lot on the company and they had really bad reviews online. They do this a lot. They go out and say there’s nothing they can do. Then, they charge the 100 bucks. I told AHS I don't wanna deal with that company anymore and they said they will put that on notation.

    Then, my washer wasn’t draining properly and it was backing up. The tech from Wicker Installation came out and he snaked it out but it didn't quite take. He came back out and did it again. The second time he did it, it was draining a little bit better, but he said the biggest problem is the fact that the pipe in there is too small. It's a one-inch pipe and it needs to be two inches. The guys at Wicker were really good.

    Whenever I have an issue, I call American Home Shield. They dispatched Grade A Plumbing when there was a pipe dripping in my unit. The person living under my unit noticed it. The plumbing company called me. I don't live in the unit but I had someone there. They were fine with Grade A Plumbing. They corrected the problem and the issue was fixed because I haven't heard from the owner of the other unit. So far, I have not had any issues with American Home Shield although I an issue with their one of their contractors. This was for another issue though. But that eventually got resolved.

    The guy from Alejo Electric came and he looked at the issue. He said such a problem happens if the light is turned off. In our area during this COVID-19 and the fire in the state, there was a time when power was cut out. I don't know if that's when the issue happened, because my air conditioning system was working before. He couldn't turn it on. He told me that he's gonna report what he has done and that American Home Shield would get back to me. He took some pictures. Then I didn't hear from American Home Shield. I called them to follow up. They said that somebody would be sent to take care of the issue. Then recently, I saw an email from them saying that there were limitations approving the air conditioning at my place and they gave a number to call.

    I'm still waiting to hear from American Home Shield. They haven't told me what they plan to do. When I call them on the phone, I'm on the line for a long time. I thought that if I have Home Shield, this is supposed to be something helpful, that when I have a problem in my home, they're able to help and support me. But it seems that they're not doing what they're supposed to do. I'm really saddened. Here in Pittsburgh, it gets pretty warm but thank God it’s getting a little bit cooler. I have elderly parents in the house and if the air conditioning is not working, it's not helpful. Now when I need them, I'm not getting the services they promised. I am very dissatisfied and frustrated at the moment. They dispatched someone to check and then the person came and they are not following through. This is not something I could recommend to a friend with this kind of service. I'm planning to call them. I hope they do what they're supposed to do.

    My garbage disposal had locked up on me and I couldn't get it to work. The contractor that AHS sent came out. It was jammed up. I'm not sure exactly what was the cause of the jam, but he got it fixed and I hadn’t had a problem since. The contractor did a real good job. I haven’t had any problems with submitting a claim with AHS. They’re pretty fast about getting somebody out here to get it taken care of. I hadn't had anything but a great experience with American Home Shield so far. Having a warranty saves me a ton of money.     Myers Comfort came out and then came back and did the work they needed to do so the AC is doing fine right now. Initially, when the tech came out, he put some Freon in it, and it didn't work because he said the evaporator coil was leaking. He had to come back and change out the evaporator coil. Once he did that, it’s been fine ever since.

    I've used other people before I got this warranty with American Home Shield. I’ve used Hanson Heat and Air for my business. They were good, but I've had someone that was better. I wish Myers Comfort had diagnosed the problem initially. They initially said it was what it was, and they should've checked the evaporator coil initially. I called them right back and told them it wasn’t cooling. If they had gone and checked it then, I wouldn’t have had to wait three weeks in order to get some air. It was really hot at that time. Other than that, they coulda just told me right then what was actually wrong with it. He could have seen the leak right there if he went up the attic and checked it.

    As far as American Home Shield, so far, so good. The only thing is some of the stipulations. I didn’t realize that I had to pay for the coil when they replaced it. I didn’t realize that was part of my contract. I thought they could use the same thing I had upstairs, but after seeing them take that one out and put a new one in, I was pretty sure that they needed to change the whole thing out. I just thought that was all a part of my contract, but it wasn't.

    When my air conditioning was not working, I submitted the claim and they gave me a provider. But when I called those people, they told me that they didn't accept AHS claims anymore. Apparently, they're assigned by computer and nobody called them until they got a message. So that wasn’t too good. So I called AHS back and they gave me another provider, which was LynnCo. Then LynnCo called me and said it would be five days for someone to come out.

    On the fifth day, the guy was supposed to come between 3:00 and 4:00. I called at 4:00 and the guy said we'd have to wait so many hours before we call them. So I waited. The guy showed up on 5:30 and he did a great job. He had the part but it wouldn’t fit. So he came back the next day and fixed it. LynnCo did a great job. But I was without any air conditioning for two weeks and that’s a little long time considering it was 90 something degrees every day. The part where it was connected with LynnCo, I would recommend it to anybody. Everything went real smooth. I was satisfied.

    American Home Shield was the easiest to buy and it has been great thus far. We've had three claims and two have been with H&C Electric for pretty much the same electrical problem. Within 30 minutes of submitting a claim, the folks at H&C Electric are on the phone and scheduling a time. We have arc-fault interrupters in the house and they usually have issues. The breakers would flash a code that tells you when they're bad or what's wrong with them. H&C Electric came out and replaced the breakers post-haste. We have a dishwasher claim in process and that hasn't been as simple though.

    There was a point when I thought I could get a better monthly rate and I went to a different company. I ended up firing them after the first service call and going back to American Home Shield. Sometimes, it's better to pay a little bit more per month on the premium to get what you need when you need it. When my garage door opener was not working and the garage door was not closing, I did my claim. I was given a four-hour window time frame, but I had to reschedule the company twice to get out here because of my work schedule. The guy then from Flash Garage Door Service came out and he found and fixed the problem. The service kept my home secure with that garage door not closing and locking. When I go to bed at night, nothing comes through.

    I'm waiting for American Home Shield to take care of a service that I put in there. The company that came out to service recommended that I get my washer replaced and I have not been able to reach American Home Shield or even contact them. The number that they've given me is not working. It's not helping me at all. Supposedly, they are waiting for a part or they have to confirm that the part is obsolescent. It's been over three weeks now and I'm without a washing machine. I've been using outside facility to wash my clothes.

    I haven't had any issue until this time. It doesn't seem like there's any kind of urgency put into this. I bought this washing machine 15 years ago. They cannot get a replacement for the door and for the inner part of the machine which is plastic. They're making a recommendation that it’d be replaced. I would expect that there shouldn't be another process for American Home Shield to go in and ask their people, “Hey, go see if you can find this part.” I told the lady, “You can find the part at Amazon but it has to be a suitable part that's gonna be able to make my washing machine work.”

    I don't understand why they haven't called me back and why they're having issue with their service. When I'm trying to get status or speak to someone, it leaves me there for 15 minutes then suddenly I lose the call. It's at their end, not my end. I'm not getting through them right now. I've put several calls in because I actually got a contract renewal. But I'm really hesitant about renewing my contract because I'm not too happy with the service I'm receiving. I expect them to replace this because this is still under the old contract. If I'm having personal issues with them and they're not reliable, I wouldn’t wanna recommend it to a friend or to relative. I expect for them to react and take care of the issue, not make me wait three weeks and I'm spending money elsewhere because I can't get a washer. That's why you're protected. That's why you have an insurance.

    Service Contractors came out and replaced a part on one of my outside AC units. Then I had another AC claim. I thought I have a leak in one of my AC units because the drip pan was filling up way too fast. Also, it looked like it could've been dripping from the unit and not from the overflow or anything like that. I asked Home Shield to send the same guy and the same company back out because of my good experience with their tech in the past. He came out and found out that I had a blockage further down the line. Both units that I have were filling into the one drain pan causing the overflow. He went upstairs to one of the bathrooms where the unit drains into to help unclog it. He blew and cleaned the lines out and everything started flowing like it should. He was a nice guy.

    With another warranty company I had at another house, whenever there was a claim, they would have some ridiculous excuse to not pay the claim and leave me hanging with bills alluded to be covered. And when a compressor failed, they didn't wanna replace it. American Home Shield has never left me hanging to that extent. They've been pretty good at covering stuff.

    I called Home Shield and they called Arrow Air Systems then the technician came out. For about two days, the system ran fine. When I returned the call back to Home Shield, I told them that my air system had gone back out again. They contacted the guy and he came back. He said that I had some bad wires, that he would be going back to the office, and he would get that handled. He also told me that as soon as he got it in, he would be back to put it in. He was there on time. I just went on his word. But I haven't heard from him since.

    I had Home Shield first to cover my whole home and I had a kitchen fire. They were speedy in fixing it and getting the proper steps done. They took care of what they had to do. But what I didn't understand was why they dropped me. They made the claim, they paid, and then they did that. But people from insurance companies do that. I told my home mortgage company about it and they found me an insurance company.

    The people from J&J Mechanical that came out were really professional and really nice about everything and honest about what needed to be replaced. It was the dishwasher and the washing machine that needed to be replaced. They sent everything in to American Home Shield, and I never heard from American Home Shield again. I called and called. I was on wait for one hour, sometimes I was on the phone for three hours. They never called. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the lady said that the supervisor was busy. She just kept saying that the supervisor was on another call. Then, she would give me a number where the washing machine and dishwasher needed to be replaced. So she will click over and get me to another department, and I was on the phone with them for two or three hours. I have never reached the people to replace my appliances.

    I got back with American Home Shield again. This was the fourth week and I've called like four times a week, and I got back with them again. The rep said that they sent it to me in an email. I never got the email. Now, I did get the email about how the company treated me, and I did send that in. But I never got an email with American Home Shield. I've been with them since 2003. Before that at another house, I was with them since 1998. I've never been treated like this before. They said they was short of help.

    When I kept calling, I think I was getting on their nerve, but I just wanted the washing machine replaced. I wanted the dishwasher fixed even if people from J&J Mechanical were really nice, the lady called back and said, "This is not like American Home Shield. We sent them something, they never responded back, got back with them." Then, somebody from American Home Shield did call and said there's some type of protocol where they send it to your email for the washing machine and dishwasher to be replaced. They said he was sending it right then. That was twice. I talked to a female first, and then I talked to like a supervisor.

    Nothing was ever sent to my email about how to go buy your own washing machine or dishwasher or picking out one that they provided. I went through messenger, gave them my contract number, my address, and I just told them that I wanted to cancel. They said, "Well, don't cancel. We're really doing good." I said, "Well, you guys sending out all these commercials, but not living up to your part of your contract."

    A lady named Amy called me yesterday from American Home Shield. She told me to fax her my receipt for my washing machine that I just got a couple of weeks ago, and she will refund my money. Then she said, "Well, I'm gonna send you a email for the dishwasher." I said, "You could send me a check for that too." She said it was gonna be $300-something, and she was apologizing. I told her, "Well, it's not your fault. It's the company in its whole." I will have to fax them the receipt with my contract number and everything on it. Amy said, after that in four or five days, I'll have a check in the mail.

    American Home Shield's customer service was horrible. I'm not prejudiced towards anything, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. Then you could hear them in the background laughing when I said, "Well, give me a supervisor." Then the rep will make her accent more pronounced. So, I really couldn't understand what she was saying. And they will be laughing in the background. I don't understand how they still are in business. My mother is with them, and I have about 20 friends that are with them. My mother says she's never had an issue.

    We had a broken disposal and there was some leakage underneath the sink. Advanced Plumbing sent out someone to repair. His name is Julian and he did the repair, but it was incomplete because there was a broken part on top, which I followed up with Advanced Plumbing. They said they were gonna call back, but they never did.

    I contacted American Home Shield right away and let them know that the job was incomplete. They told me that they're waiting for Advanced Plumbing to send them some kind of paperwork. I contacted Advanced Plumbing. That went on back and forth for a few days and it didn't get me anywhere. So I kind of now have given up. I don't mind if another vendor is assigned or maybe I can find my own vendor and submit the bill. They just need to let me know.

    American Home Shield's phone number is really hard to call. It's almost an hour to hour and a half wait. This is my first year with them and my first time to do a claim. It was taking me so much energy to a point I gave up. I have not tried contacting them online. But online, you just schedule like a repair. Their call back feature even takes longer. I've tried that. On the wait, they'll give you that option and they don't call you back. So that was why I called back myself and I do something else while the hour goes by.

The guy from Carl’s Plumbing found it in a few minutes and got it cleared. Everything is fine now. I was standing there right with him when he was working on it. He pulled it out and showed it to me.     I've been very pleased with American Home Shield's service and I had no problem with it. Usually when you request either online or in person, you get a callback within 24 hours of who's gonna come out. And they identify themselves when they come out so you feel really secure about it. But I learned that instead of doing a claim online, I should call American Home Shield because if I wanna request a certain service, I get who I want that way. When doing it online, it seems you get whatever the computer throws out. I knew this one appliance place that I didn't want. My son has American Home Shield and he has so much trouble with that appliance place. It was a microwave situation. The technicians took it out and they didn't know what they were doing it. They brought it back and it was back and forth. It's a hassle.

    I had a claim in June and it was for the control panel on my oven that went out. American Home Shield was gonna send out this appliance person but I called them immediately and said I didn't want that person. The lady said that if I wanted somebody, I should call them and it would be easier. That's what I've been doing when I needed anything. For this claim, American Home Shield then sent out a GE serviceman. I have a GE Profile so they sent out the one I wanted. He was very good.

    I needed two parts. One part came but we waited and waited for the other one. I kept calling and finding out. They were trying to get it. I understand that right now, a lot of people are having problems getting appliances. The part was delayed and they weren't able to get the part until the end of August. With everything that's going on now, who knows where the parts are made and where they are shipped from. But the oven is fixed now and it works.

    I've had no bad luck with American Home Shield. They've been really good. They replaced the motor of my dishwasher one time and it's been fine since then. I also had a ceiling fan that went out and I paid for an upgraded one and not the one they wanted to give me. I've had the home warranty for four years and I've had no problem with them. American Home Shield is nice because you can pick how much you wanna pay for the service call. But if it's a cheaper service call, you're paying more for your policy. I would recommend American Home Shield to my friends. In fact, a lot of them have it. One of my friends had had it for 30 some odd years. When she got her home, the real estate agent suggested that she should get it. They did and they like it.

    The AC made a really bad noise and the fan motor burned up. It quit running so we called Home Shield. A guy from Myers came out and checked it. He went back in just a few hours on a Sunday. He said he had to order a new fan motor and he would put it in as soon as it came. They did and it worked. My wife says it took too long to get the part. It was 10 days before they fixed it. But other than that, it was really good. Having a home warranty is worthwhile.

    I'm not super savvy about everything it takes to keep a home in order and operational so I got American Home Shield's warranty. When I need to call them, the experience is very rewarding. The vendors that they use in my area are concerned about the fact that I get good coverage regardless of how they're paid. At the end of every visit, at least where it was something they could provide service with, they take the time to explain what the problem was, what they fixed, and remind me that the call is under a 30-day warranty. If the problem persisted, they tell me to be sure to go back in and request that help.

    I called when I had some water in my basement. I thought a pipe was broken. A plumbing service came out and the guy said he would test a couple of things. He didn't think the issue had anything to do with our bibb hose. Once he determined it wasn't plumbing, he was kind enough to point out where my problem could be coming from so I’d know what to do next. He put me on the path to the next solution, which I thought was really great. Then, I had something with my HVAC system. The young man that came out introduced himself and was very polite. He diagnosed the problem, let me know what it was, and went on to fix the solution.

    I also had a plumbing issue that Professional Plumbing Services came out for. They were really good about letting me know when they were coming and they were on time. Also, they took the time to explain what they thought the problem was and took the time to see if they could make the problem repeat before they left, after they thought they had the solution. The second time they came, the tech used a larger tool to clear it and get it to drain. So far, it seems like we're all right.

    I have two air conditioning units. The one on the lower floor happened to not cool down at all. It was pretty much spitting out hot air but not cold. The first time that the AC person came out there, he knew the main cause. The line itself was frozen in the outdoor unit so he did have to come back at a different day as the lines defrosted. Because it was a Saturday when he came out, he couldn't come out until Monday. When he came back, he thought it was simply a minor leak. He ended up discovering that it was a component that was malfunctioning. He replaced it and everything was fine. Overall, he was very punctual and very pleasant. The only thing is I kinda hoped the American Home Shield website said, “Hey, you're submitting an air conditioning claim, go ahead and turn it off to prevent a duplication of a person coming out.”

    Filing a claim is pretty quick. The only thing that I wish would be a little bit more proactive is for example with our pool pump. It's about to break. It's making loud noises and you can kinda hear the metal rubbing against another piece of metal. But because it's still working, they really can't do anything about it. It's more of, “Well, we don't cover the loudness, we cover if there's a malfunction of it." But I kind of expected that with any type of insurance company. Overall, we've been pleased with American Home Shield. The main reason we decided to keep it for so long is that it's an older house and we've never owned a pool before. Every single year the policy seems to pay for itself just with the different things that we need to get done around the house.

    My recent claim with American Home Shield was the air conditioner. It wasn't working correctly. The customer service people are in the Philippines and we're here in the States. So they would contract somebody and neither one of them coordinated with me to see if I was home during that time. I didn't have a way of getting in contact with the person that was contracted. They would come to the house and I wouldn't be home.

    When I called American Home Shield, they didn't know. They sent me around the block, were trying to get me rescheduled, where they should have asked me what was convenient for me. ‘Cause people work and they just didn't care that it was August in Louisiana with no AC. The rep would schedule me from 9:00 to 1:00. Then when I called them at 2:45, they acted like, “Just keep being patient, they're on the way.” I was like, “Can you call to see?” The rep said, “No, ‘cause they should be on their way.” I said, “No. I've been waiting from 9:00 to 1:00, which was the slated time. It’s 2:45. You call them.” I missed a whole day of work. The contractors ended up coming out two days later. But that put me a whole week at my house in August with no air conditioner. The guy ended up being able to repair it and it’s been working well.

    I feel good about American Home Shield. $100 is a little bit higher than I expected but they're better than the one I had originally. The tech that recently came out was very professional and I liked him. He did his work and gave me more information about my appliances. It was an issue with the refrigerator ice maker. The appointment was scheduled for tomorrow but I have a doctor's appointment so everything was put off until Thursday. Them working with my schedule was good.

    There was a plumbing issue recently that AHS sent Wade's Plumbing out. They handled it very nicely. But before that, I had an experience with May Heating. The AC was not working upstairs. Their guy came and just looked at it. It was a couple of minutes. Then he said the water flush was not working as well as the pump. He said he would order it and then replace it. It was 20 days. Then I called the insurance. I called May Heating and they said it was something else. The guy put something weird. Then they sent me an invoice, which they asked me to pay $1,500. I was shocked. The guy didn't even spend two minutes and then he said that.

    Then I got an outsider. He said it had nothing to do with that. I spent $70 with it and then I had to pay the outsider hardly $50 to fix that. It was nothing else. Then the charges, he gave me the invoice for R22. But I could fill it for $20. Then he gave me an invoice for $90 or something. So, I don’t know if that's how it works with insurance or AHS. Finally, I said that I don't want to deal with AHS. When I called them, they were generous and said I could get a cash-out option. But there is a catch. They said I have to replace the evaporator coil. There is nothing wrong with that in the first place. Why should I replace it and do that?

    The customer service has to agree on who’s serving American Home Shield. For the plumbing, I made the request, and then when I went online, it said nothing on the status. The contractor wanted to schedule an appointment, then I called this contractor. He said he'd call me back in 10 minutes. After a week, I called, and it was the same thing. After the third week, he tells me that they're not working with American Home Shield anymore. I had to call American Home Shield again to tell them that. Then I had to spend two hours online to reschedule it to somebody else. It is totally ridiculous. Why should I be online to AHS to check and reschedule with somebody else? I am very much dissatisfied and I won’t recommend them. I started looking for outside service.

    American Home Shield sent Peterson Repairs for the refrigerator, and things went extremely well. About 45 days before that, someone else came out here and supposed to have been fixing the same problem with the refrigerator. They didn't do their job right, which means that I had to pay an extra $100 to get the same thing fixed. There was water in the same place, and the man who did it this time showed me what he did and he said I shouldn't have any problems again. But I paid money to get something done twice, and I meant to call American Home Shield and tell them about that and that they really need to check their people because people don't have money to be paying out like that. The man who came the second time appeared to know what he was doing. He was professional, he did his job, and he explained to me. He said, "Let me show you what I'm gonna do here." He answered my questions, too.

    I put up an AC claim to American Home Shield. I still have an issue with my AC, but I don't know if they cover that or it’s not under coverage since it's not broken yet. I have the AC on the attic. I have two units since I have a two story house. There’s a tray that goes with my AC. It seems like, sometimes, there's water in there. There’s a tray where that water is stored, and it is all rusted and about to get broken because of all the rusting all around. I don’t know if AHS can replace that before I get a huge lake in the attic and make a big mess around my house or I’m supposed to wait until the actual tray has a hole on it.

    Also, I don't know if the technician that AHS sent looked into it. But he told me that he got in the attic. I had an issue as well with the air not coming in my master room. The tech came down, and he checked that out, and he told me that it was perfectly fine because my room usually is warmer because the sun is hitting it all day, and we live in the desert. So, by nature, my room is gonna be warmer. So far, I'm pretty happy with American Home Shield. The technician from the AC that came in was super polite. To me, he was really good. Yesterday, the other one came in because I have an issue with my range. He ordered the parts and left. Once the parts get here, he's gonna come back and fix everything.

    I really liked the company that came out and worked with us on our problem. They were very nice. We were not getting hot water to portions of the house and they were explaining to me the issues in details, including how it affects the house and how things run. I liked the service. After they came out to inspect it, we found that the issue was the recirculating pump and something else attached to it that they needed to replace. As soon as they got approved and they had the part, they called to schedule an appointment. It was within a reasonable time, once they gave me a call, and then they were here.

    Besides the time it took, it went great. I understand they had to get it approved through American Home Shield. However, being upfront about how long the approval process would take would be beneficial, especially for those that are doing their first claim or somebody that hasn't used them previously. If somebody were to ask me how long it took or how long it would take, I wouldn't know.

    The icemaker wasn't working and the dishwasher wasn't running. I submitted a ticket to Home Shield online and I got a call pretty fast from All Brand to schedule the repair. The tech was a nice guy. He had to come back out and figure out the icemaker. He had to order a part for that. Then, the dishwasher still continued to have trip errors and wasn't drying them.     The AC unit that is in this particular house is in the crawlspace. It was getting to be winter, so I went under the house and checked things out. There was water on the ground underneath the unit. I thought that it was just condensate but there was quite a bit of water. So it would be better to have it checked because if something was wrong or the condensate pump wasn't working, that could cause a big problem. It would freeze in the winter. American Home Shield set an. appointment up with a company to come out.

    I went through what it was and they looked it through. And since they were there, I asked them to open things up and make sure all the electrical connections were good and they did that. Then the thing that came over on the internet stated to check for this thing for the outside unit to see if there were any strange noises and stuff. So he was walking away to go leave and then I asked him to listen to the unit since he might be able to detect something that I wouldn't associate as wrong. So he looked at that too. They did a very good job. During the conversation, he mentioned that he was working for the company for two years and he really liked them. He checked the wiring and all different things like that. So now I feel confident. I shouldn't have to worry about that for three years or maybe longer.

    People don't do preventive maintenance. There's a wide variety of things that can go wrong and things can strike and go down and all that. Somebody there at American Home Shield has to recognize the importance of preventive maintenance and work it into their system. AHS works with a company that deals with air conditioners. AHS should work a deal with that company to have a preventive maintenance program for the AHS clients. By having a preventive maintenance person coming, the equipment doesn't break down as much. So AHS could save in the future.

    Ever since we did Home Shield, I noticed that the communication part on the internet needs to be updated. AHS is dealing with people that are older. I use the website to do a preventive maintenance thing or to do such things. The way things are set up on their website is very confusing and not very straightforward. You have to sit there and figure out what they are trying to say there. I tried to put in the right information but I was never sure. The website needs to be redone.

    The AC unit was not cooling properly and the claim submission for it was smooth in this case. The representative on the telephone was polite and professional. I received from American Home Shield the name of the service company that was coming. Then the service company called me and said that they would be at my place the next day within a four-hour time frame that they gave. The service from Kingwood Air Solutions was very well done. There was also a blocked line from the upstairs unit that had to be blown out or cleared out by the tech and he did a good job doing that as well. Everything is working very well for our old air conditioning unit. The home is cool now and that makes everybody happy here at home. I'm currently satisfied with American Home Shield.

    The blower on my air was not working. The air conditioner was running, but no cold air was coming out because the blower was not functioning correctly. The air conditioner guy came out but when he did, it was functioning. because the blower was still doing its job, he couldn't replace it. But he could tell it was going bad. He said his temperature gauge could see that the blower was overheating. He said the blower is gonna go out any day. He also said, “Because you have a warranty company, I cannot replace this blower until it is not functioning.” He said if I was a paying customer, he would’ve replaced it that day. He left that day knowing that it was broken, and that it wasn't gonna work one day. The next day, my house smelled like it was burning. The blower was burning up.

    My only issue with American Home Shield is that should’ve been replaced that day. The guy knew it was broken. That was my biggest hang-up with them. My house could’ve been on fire in the attic. 140 degrees is insane. The fact that it had to come to that is what really bothered me. It affected the safety of my family. I have three little kids and I had to pack up and leave my house.

    The guy came back and my attic was over 140 degrees. He could not even get up there to physically repair it. I had to leave my home and wait until he could come back again after everything cooled off a whole 24 hours later to replace it. I have had other issues where I've used American Home Shield and the claims have gone fine. This was my only bad experience. It's probably the worst. But everything else is great. They got someone out to my house right away.

    I had a leak on the pool where the pump wasn't priming the right way and there was no suction. So, the contractor, JnJ Pools, took some part and they fixed it. I’ve had American Home Shield for over ten years and the claim was good. I had another one on my AC and that one turned into a whole nightmare. AHS wanted to cover just the part but not the changes that they had to do and not the Freon as well. So, in order for the issue to be fixed, I had to come up with $800 out of pocket, which was totally outrageous. I ended up opting for the buyout, which was not what I wanna do. I have a home warranty because I wanna make sure that I don't have to bother with me trying to find someone else to fix it. I ended up paying less than the $800 American Home Shield wanted. So, that was unacceptable.

    I'm trying to look around and see what other companies don't have as much red tape as American Home Shield because I was covered for that repair on the AC. We're in Vegas, so an AC is an everyday thing and the main reason why everybody takes a home warranty is because of the AC unit. I’m paying $60 every month for 10 years and I never have any issues other than the pool the other day. Just to find out that in order to be covered, I might as well just be saving my money and have the money ready when the problem exists. So, I'm feeling very strong about persuading people about having the home warranty. AHS has to be a little bit more transparent and don't have so much hidden charges such that it is covered but there has to be a little change. And for that, you have to pay. It's totally not worth it.

    My AC stopped working. We requested to Home Shield, and then Wolfpack Mechanical came and then the tech checked that the condensing unit was leaking so it was not working. That's why it had to be replaced. Then, they put the request. We followed up but we didn't get any timelines, and they told us, “As soon as we receive the new unit, we will install it.” And then as soon as he received it, he installed the next day. The unit is functioning quite good. But from the last two days, we have been having some concern. There is some leakage in the inside unit. The water is dropping. So, we need to contact back. Other than that, we were satisfied with the response. I have heard from other people still facing the same situation in the hot weather that it takes almost two to three weeks, and they send someone to look on and then it takes months. But luckily, we got our issue fixed within three weeks.

    The oven wasn't coming on. I called American Home Shield and put the claim in. I went through an automated system, and the process was pretty easy. It said that the contractor would contact me within a certain timeframe. It took the guy a little longer than what I expected. It was a holiday and we had a tropical storm. It was a lot going on so I wasn't really pressed by it. But when he got here, we come to find out that it's an old oven. There's a button on the oven that if it’s not set a certain way or pushed in, the oven won’t come on. So, he showed me the button. The oven was fine. He was very pleasant and very knowledgeable.

    I just kinda felt like I probably shouldn't have to pay an entire $75 deductible at that point. It's not like he fixed anything. He said that my oven is one of those that were built to last. As far as American Home Shield, I was just telling my cousin that he needed to get his mom American Home Shield. I was telling him how good it’s been.     Filing a claim is online with no place to leave comments. Claims are not update with actual notes - just a drop down status. Calling customer service is always a minimum of 30 minute wait. Don’t use the call back function - you will get a call and then they hang up while you are speaking. There is no one to talk to and no way to email or chat. I have a plumbing problem that has been open for over two weeks and no response. This is typical of most every request for service. Very unsatisfactory service. Contract won’t be renewed.

    My furnace had condensation leaking out of it, coming down the sides, and puddling my basement floor. I called Home Shield and it went fine. Then, they contacted the vendor and within a couple of days, the vendor was in and taking care of the issue. I also had them do some additional work on the side of that - check-up and stuff that's completely independent and separate, and the tech was great. Everything has been fine and working as it should.

    The first time I filed a claim with Home Shield, I called for this same issue. The vendor that called me told me that this was not covered under my warranty, so that was canceled. Then I looked and saw that it was covered, so I did it again. It was no big deal and everything went fine. I'm glad I have Home Shield, especially moving into a new home. It's 10 years old so it's good to have that little bit of security for the first year moving in.

    The electric people did exactly what they were supposed to do. They came out and fixed the problem. The circuit breaker went out. I needed a new circuit breaker. American Home Shield tried to order the part of the compressor itself but it was on delay and they kept saying it was because of Corona. So it took three weeks to get the compressor. It was in July so it was hot. Eventually, they let the person who did the work to order the compressor, which was right in the shop. The tech went out the next day and he installed it. It worked fine. But American Home Shield's supply chain needs some work.

    Having the warranty, you don't have to worry about finding contractors because contractors are the most unreliable people on the planet. They might be good at their task, but managing the company is a whole other animal. So you don't have to go out individually and find a contractor for each thing. That's the good part. The bad part is if it's peak season for whatever you're looking for, everybody else is looking for it.

When the AC was leaking, I did a claim through their website and the process was simple. They sent All South Air Systems out. They told me that they blew out the line and everything was good.     The claim was very easy. I put in the request during the holiday. I didn't get a response that day but I did get a quick response after that on Tuesday or Wednesday and we scheduled the contractor to come in. That was pretty awesome. They were able to come in that same week. The guy came on Thursday or Friday. He came in already prepared. He had a new garbage disposal with him. He said it would take him five minutes. I was a little skeptical but he took five, eight minutes to squat and switch it out and he was done. However, the garbage disposal wasn't the same manufacturer and it wasn't the same power. This one is a half and I had one that was three quarters. It's also a little louder than my old one. It's much smaller than the one that I had before and the quality may be a little less. But I'd definitely use American Home Shield again. I'm glad I got it. It's a great service and my first time use was a great experience.

    The burner on the oven went out. I called in and turned it in, and American Home Shield sent the repair guy out. He turned what he needed in to them but they couldn't find it so they gave us the option for a new one. However, it turned out to be a nightmare. It was two months without an oven. The new oven was supposed to ship out on the 19th. We were supposed to have it installed the next weekend, the 26th. It wasn't here so we had to call and start searching. They didn't even bother to ship it until the 26th and they delivered it on the 16th of this month.

    The lamp and the bulb are in the fan and I never used the fans. I only use the lamps. I always operated from a switch on the wall. One lamp broke because it would turn on and then turn off. The fan never worked and the other fan also never worked. There was only one remote control and that didn't work either. The diagnosis was that it's not the lamp that is broken but the remote. In other words, if I had two remote controls and proper receivers, I could use both lamp and ceiling fan properly. American Home Shield rejected the claim. I asked them if I could ask the people who were already here to do the repair. It was back and forth then they gave me the phone number and the name of that guy. I called this person on Friday. They haven't called back but it's only Monday.

    American Home Shield is usually good. What I really appreciate is that they send someone in in the first place 'cause that has always been my weakness. I pay them not to pay for my new fridge but because they know how to get a contractor here. I'm happy to pay as long as someone can come in. That's often the bigger problem for me. I usually can afford to pay someone but I can't find someone to bother to come.

    I could never call AHS when I submitted a claim so I went through the computer. They had somebody come out. They also sent me back an email letting me know that a certain company would be out to take a look at the problem. The contractors came and looked at our air conditioner. It wasn't blowing cold air. They replaced the condenser and it needed to be charged. The first time that a contractor came out, it was not so great. But the second time, the person that came out was absolutely wonderful.     When I would call American Home Shield, they would immediately try to fix the issue. One time, they contacted Elite Pro to try to expedite the process for us. My refrigerator was down and before, I didn't know that I could call and make changes, so I stuck with the first company that was sent (ADA). I was so miserable with that company that I didn't realize that I could change it in between. My refrigerator has been down for two months when we contacted American Home Shield to try to get assistance because we weren't getting any from ADA.

    After I expressed my issue, American Home Shield immediately assisted and took the opportunity to contact another company to try to see if there's any sooner availability. I was satisfied about that. I like that customer service part. Imagine if I was having a miserable situation. I was frustrated with the other company, and then I called American Home Shield and they're like, "No, we have to stick with one." I would've lost it.

    Elite Pro called us the next business day after I left a message, and then they scheduled us the next business day for service. The technician that came really worked on the refrigerator. I could tell that he was thoroughly checking it 'cause I was telling him what was going on. It was things like the ice machine wasn't working, it wasn't producing water, it wasn't cooling, and it wasn't freezing. He went straight to the problem and he was able to fix it.

    Unfortunately, after he came out and fixed the problem, another issue came up days later. The water dispenser was acting up. It was stopping and going and then, it would act as if something is open, but nothing was open. I immediately contacted them and told them the issue, and they came out to check it, and then they figured that there were other issues with it. The middle drawers weren't working anymore because during all those times that my refrigerator had been off and on, the ice was melting. It got in-between the crevices of the system and that's why that was not working.

    Elite Pro was the one that was doing amazing most, including the technician and customer service on the office. They were wonderful because they knew how to attend to us. They would immediately schedule appointments, and they didn't wait because they knew the issues that I was having. They felt sympathy for us. The other company, they didn't at all. I love that Elite Pro immediately attended to our needs. At the end of the day, the refrigerator is a machine and I don't expect somebody to fix it immediately if there are issues and the fact that parts have to be ordered. However, because we had the part, Elite Pro was able to fix it when they came out. The other company left the part here and that's what I told American Home Shield.

    I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. In the last last couple years, we haven't had any issues as much with appliances, so before, I would feel like, "Do we really need it? Nothing's breaking down." Every single time I wanted to cancel, there's always things like, "I know how it's gonna be. If I cancel this, something is gonna break down." I kept procrastinating. "Summer's coming. Heat is gonna be strong. Let me just keep it one more. After the summer, we'll see what happens." and then sure enough, the AC went out. After that it was the refrigerator, and then the stove. Now, I have the call about my dryer.

    Our AC unit was leaking. We made a claim for it and we had a wonderful experience. The contractor was really good and was very knowledgeable in every way. He solved the problem right away. Our AC has been excellent since then. American Home Shield has been very helpful and they respond within 24 hours which is great. Overall, they are very good at cooperating with me in solving problems. But I would like to see more emergency workers. There were times when we couldn't get help right away because there was no one available. American Home Shield tried but they couldn't. We had to pump the water for three days until someone came. I would like to see what happens over the weekend when we have an emergency. This is when we don't get help. I understand that these days, you cannot find anybody to work especially with COVID.

It was pretty easy to submit the claim but it took a while to get through because it seemed it was really busy at that time. The techs were great and they repaired the issue. The only thing I see is that there's still a lot of water coming from the outside unit. The ground around it is soaking wet all the time. But overall, I've been happy with American Home Shield.     I own the house with my former husband and he had so much more money than me. So I never worried if something went wrong. I just call up and say, "Hey, such and such needs to be fixed. Would you help me work on that?" But he died and I needed to make sure that I was okay. My son told me about American Home Shield. He has it and he lives in another state. So I immediately got American Home Shield. I didn't need it at the moment, but it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

    Recently, the AC didn't blow out cold air. I called AHS to submit a claim. Town & Country came out and they tried to get the parts. After not being able to get the parts for it, AHS sent me a whole new unit. I have had a good experience with American Home Shield all around. They do things really well. If I need service, I can do it online on my account and they ask me what it is. As an example, stove or oven, heating element, it gives the serviceman an idea of what he's gonna be bringing with him. Then you pay your money at that time, and then they process the money, and set up your appointment. It all happens fairly quickly.

    When the contractors come out, they tell you exactly what's going on. They don't hide anything from you. They let you know what's going on, about how long it's gonna be. They keep up with you if there's gonna be a delay for whatever. Like with my air conditioning, not being able to find the part after two weeks, they let me know that they couldn't find it and they were sending a new unit, and that would take a little bit longer.

    One of the valves in our AC was broken and it was low on freon. Once I called American Home Shield, they went ahead and on the following day, Right Tech called me. Right Tech did a good job. They came in on time and took care of my AC unit. They showed me the part after the tech took it out. They did a lot of stuff to it. They fixed it and double-checked everything. Everything worked out well. They went through the backyard and all that and they were very professional. They wore their mask and had gloves on. I put my face mask on too. The AC is working great. While they were there, they showed me the temperature and all that. I'm very happy with that company that AHS has. Then AHS also followed up with me.

    I have two other rental properties. I sold one rental property in April, so I took off American Home Shield. I still have AHS on my other rental home and they have been doing a good job. I did have another company before, but the problem I was having with that company was that they provided me only one company. And if that company couldn't fix it, there was nothing they could do. Every time they provide a company, it would take them four days. They sent the same company four times.

    My tenants were threatening my property management, saying that they're gonna sue me because they were super cold. So, I had to pay 900 bucks out of pocket just to send some private company to fix it. Then that company returned my money and after I got paid, I went in and stopped them. Then I got American Home Shield. I asked AHS if I would have an issue where the company that they would send couldn't fix the issue, they would give me the opportunity to send a different company to fix it. And AHS said that they would pick somebody else. Also, AHS is quick. If I call them today, I'll have the company calling me tomorrow for an appointment.

    We were with a competitor for our first two years in the house. That recommendation came from our Realtor so we stayed with the same one. We kept seeing the commercial about Home Shield so I called them to see what the price difference was and it was a little bit cheaper so we decided we would try it out and see. It pays to have the home warranty.

    I went online and submitted an AC claim and within a few hours, I was contacted. The first time the tech from R&K Heating came out, he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I said that it makes no sense that I start out at 68 degrees and late morning to mid-afternoon, it's 75 to 77 in the house. It wasn't doing that before. Within two days, it was doing the same thing and I called him back. They sent somebody else out and at that time, it was doing the same thing, running and running. It was frozen in the unit because it had continually ran, which was what I thought was wrong with the first time.

    They ordered a part and they had to come back and fix it once they got the part. After that, he came back one more time because it did it again. He cleaned everything out and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He said maybe it was just that it's so hot that it can't keep up. But I've had no problems since then. It's been much better since then. The main unit is much cooler.

    We went into our laundry one night because we heard a noise that we hadn't heard before. I turned the washing machine off and even though the machine was off, when I opened up the lid, the water was still pouring into the tub. It was a panic situation because the drum was almost completely full of water and the load that we had in the washing machine was probably no more than about six inches deep. It was a very small load. We reached behind the machine and turned the water in the faucet valve off. Abner, the rep from the company that came out, was very helpful, professional, friendly and knew exactly what he was doing. He was able to identify what the issue was and get that handled.

    We also had the same gentleman look at our side-by-side refrigerator. Our icemaker suddenly stopped making ice and at the same time, there was some dripping of water from somewhere up higher in the refrigerator compartment that was dripping down into the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and forming a little pool of water down there. So, he was able to get that particular problem fixed right away. Then, he determined that there was a problem in the icemaker that required a part. It is on order and as soon as we receive that, then he can come back out and install that. His skills and professionalism for the refrigerator as well was superb and we have nothing but high praises for him. We were very pleased with Abner and we would recommend him.

    Our contract with American Home Shield goes from the end of July of this year to the end of July next year. Since we have subscribed to their service and even when I was calling to think about whether we were gonna go with them or not, all of the people that we've talked with have also been very friendly, professional and helpful on the phone. The only negative is that it’s very difficult to try to get someone on the phone. I waited on the phone one time for three hours on hold. And another time, for an hour or so. Other than wait times on the telephone, we have had nothing but good experiences with the company and I would not be discouraged in going with them just because of that.

    Having my warranty policy, I have more certainty and clarity around how to get service. I don't have to find a service provider, whether that be for plumbing, the AC or whatever. I know I'm getting someone good, and I know that they're replying to me. They always get back to me in a timely manner as well. When I submit a claim, it's easy and I always get a call within 24 hours to schedule an appointment. I'm typically able to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time too.

    The tray that the AC unit in the attic sits in was filling up with water, so I submitted that claim and the technician from United Air Temp has been out several times now. There was an initial thought that it was a clogged drain, and that was causing it to back up and water filled the tray at the bottom. However, I checked again a few days later, and it was still filling up with water. The second time, the technician looked inside and identified that it was a crack in the pan that sits under the coil. The pan catches the moisture and directs it towards the normal drainage, but there’s a crack. Some of the water was falling through to the tray at the bottom

    The technician had to come out another time because they couldn't find the pan based on the serial number. He came back out to find some more identification on it, which there was another number on there that they were able to use to find the matching part. Now is the fourth time he has been out and this should be the final one. He's got the matching part and he's putting it in right now.

    It went well with True Vine Appliance Repair. They fixed the issue with the dryer that wasn't working. They came out within a couple of days but they had to come back. When they fixed it, the fuse blew again so I had to call them back and they were able to resolve the issue. However, the service fee with American Home Shield is too high. We have to pay that every time we schedule a service person. You have 30 days and you don't have to pay anything if they have to come back out but $100 is a lot. I pay a monthly fee so again, that's way too high.

    We had a leak in our bathtub faucet. I would turn the bath faucet off and it would drip. My husband was here when Discount Contractors came. My husband said that the guy was in and out pretty quickly and he didn't make a mess. So I'm very satisfied. The faucet still drips a tiny bit but not constantly. Before the repair, it was like quarter of a cup an hour and it was leaving an orange stripe on the bathtub. That's not happening anymore.

    American Home Shield is great and I love their website. Filing a claim online takes two seconds and it's very easy. They provide you with a contractor name and number. Then they'll say that the contractor will call you, but it is a best practice for you to call the contractor, especially if it's a claim that needs help soon. I would 100% recommend having a home warranty. The peace of mind that it grants is good. But sometimes it's frustrating with American Home Shield because of the amount of follow-up. It's kind of a hassle to contact contractors and to get on their schedule. So it has a benefit but there is also a little bit of work.

    The guy was timely, polite and very professional. He was here within a day or so and did the job that he said he would do. My refrigerator was leaking water and it destroyed the whole kitchen floor. He was able to stop it and do the repair. I had another problem here the other day. My garage door wouldn't open. I called American Home Shield and I had to pay $75. But they said it wasn't covered under my policy. I thought when something goes wrong in your house, it is covered. They said it wasn't the door, it was the opener. I had the contractor fix it so I can get in and out of my garage but I've had to pay for that myself. The $75 just went to the company or to American Home Shield which is a little unfair. If you're paying $75 and you end up having to pay for the repair yourself which in this case is $400 the $75 should have gone towards the repair.

    I also saw an email the other day that they could provide a service tune-up for $75. Then if the person found anything wrong, you'd have to pay another $75 for them to repair. That seemed a little bit unfair. But I like American Home Shield. It's been about almost 20 years now when I bought the house and the people had already had the service with American Home Shield so I just continued with it. Being a homeowner, especially for single women, you'd need that backup. I would recommend for any single woman with a home to purchase one.

    My sump pump was tripping the circuit breaker and someone from Home Service Corporation came out the next day. He looked at it and said, "Check the circuit." We did a few things to see if the circuit would trip, and he looked at it and said, "Okay, this needs to be replaced." He happened to have one in his truck and the whole thing took 30 minutes.

    I had a little bit of difficulty twice with Home Shield. Once, it was resolved quickly. We couldn't find someone who was willing to come out quickly. But they allowed me to go outside of the contract, which I did. That company came out right away and I was reimbursed right away. The second time, the claim was for the air conditioner. The original company that they gave me to call to contact said they couldn't come out for 10 days. We were in the 90s, which for Michigan means it's really about 100 or more because of humidity.

    So I called to let them know, and they looked for someone and they couldn't find anyone. Then they contacted the original company. There was some miscommunication there because they told Home Shield that, "Oh, yeah, we can come out right away. In fact, we can come out tomorrow." When Home Shield called me back, I said, "They were pretty adamant." But it turned out that there was a huge miscommunication with that particular company. So they had to call back and say, "No, that person was wrong. We can't come out 'til 10 days." In that instance, I just went outside of the contract. I did not submit it because I didn't think I could but that was okay. The cost was what I consider nominal.

    Our dryer was making a noise. It was very easy submitting a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor was supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00. He called earlier in the morning and he informed us well in advance that he was not gonna make it for that time, and that was fine. At least he let us know, so that was really good. Then once he got here, the service was quick and efficient. The repair was not completed because he needed to order a part, but he got it functioning so that we can use it. We just got the part Saturday night and he already had scheduled an appointment with us, before he left, for the 13th of October to complete the repairs once the part came in.

    This is the second time that I've used AHS for a claim. It was funny because it was within a week. We have another property and something happened at the other property, and then a week later, something happened at this property. But both times, the scheduling of the service was extremely quick and easy. Then they promised and said, "Someone will call you. This is when they're gonna come out." Everything went like they said it was going to. Whenever they were scheduled, that was when they showed up. At the other property, the repair was completed immediately. It was a very good experience so far.

    The ice machine wasn't working and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield, which took two minutes and it was done. I got my text message on who was coming out and set it up. The contractor was fine so that went well but the process didn’t. My ice machine is frozen so, the repairman couldn't break it apart to see what the issue was because it was stuck. He said that I was gonna have to unfreeze everything, which was not an option because it would take forever. He told me to contact Samsung to see if they have another suggestion on how to make it better. Still, I recommend AHS to everyone. They have been a lifesaver to me. They’re affordable and quick to support you. I've read people being scammed with these types of organizations but I don't feel at all like I've been scammed.     I've been with Home Shield for two years and I don't like how I can't change policy-wise. They only give me a two-month gap. After that, if I wanna change my policy, I gotta wait 10 months. Also, it would be better if they vet their contractors. A lot of the times the contractors they sent me had very poor reviews. There were issues with someone of them coming back or waiting on the parts. Also, they keep fixing the same issue over and over. With my dryer, I had to come back to AHS three times for the same issue.

    Recently, I wasn't getting electricity in some of the outlets in my master bedroom. I called American Home Shield and their contractor City First Electric came out. The problem turned out to be a loose wire in my fuse box and they fixed it quickly. I was satisfied with them. Other than the issues with some of their contractors, AHS's customer service has been really great and they get my problems resolved.

    My experience with American Home Shield was great, quick and professional. Standlee Heating and AC came out for my air conditioner that wasn't cooling down. It would stay on consistently but the house would stay at the same temperature like 82 degrees. They were great. The guy was experienced. He knew exactly what he was doing. He was respectful and professional as well. The repair helped a lot especially since my wife is doing schooling. She's able to be there more comfortably and the house stays cold.     I had an air conditioning issue and submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy. They had a contractor here to try to fix it within a day. The contractor had the unit running when he left, but then it shut down again about an hour after. We had to get somebody else to come out because that contractor couldn't get here for about five days. It was 87 degrees inside the house before American Home Shield agreed to send somebody else. The next contractor was great. They were here within about two hours from when they were called. With American Home Shield, I spent a total of close to five hours on hold in three phone calls, trying to get somebody else to come and fix it for the second time. I am no longer a customer.

    Our compressor was making a horrible noise and it wouldn't connect with the other part of the air conditioner. It would blow off and keep going on and on. There was some little tiny part on the air conditioner that was broken and wasn't cutting the outside thing off at all. I did a claim online and it seemed to be better than trying to call somebody. Our stuff always breaks on the weekend like in the middle of the night. I had an experience before where the system called me in a couple of hours. It wasn't even a person because nobody's really there 24/7.

    For this AC claim, the tech was here fast. He didn't have the part because he said that he had just put that on the day before with somebody else. He added that the issue we had was a very common problem with air conditioners. Apparently, there was a part really close by. He went down the street somewhere, got the part, and came right back. He was really good and he wasn't here very long at all. I had a lot of trouble with the air conditioner last summer and this summer too. The tech had been here the last couple of times. The unit has been working fine since he repaired it.

    American Home Shield is kind of expensive and you have to pay 75 bucks for a contractor to come out. But I never really know what it costs American Home Shield because I never know what the parts cost. Last summer, they replaced a lot of the parts of my air conditioner so it was pretty expensive. I had to pay 325 bucks for the contractor to set the thing on the outside. I thought, "Why would I have to pay that?" But I went ahead and paid it because it was cheaper than getting a new system. Other than that, American Home Shield is easy to call up. My experience was good.

    So far, it's been pretty easy with American Home Shield. They seem to be very reputable and very responsive to what you need to have done. We have two air conditioning systems in our home. It's a fairly good-sized home. One went completely out and had to be replaced. American Home Shield was right there. No muss, no fuss, no argument. They just got it fixed. My most recent claim was for the air conditioning unit and Performance Heating & Cooling repaired it. Out of all the air conditioning folks that we have dealt with through American Home Shield, Performance is absolutely the best place.

    The only issue that we've had was with the actual people doing the work. We had one company that wasn't quite doing what they said they were going to do and when they did it, they claimed that that really wasn't part of what they had submitted to American Home Shield and wanted us to pay for something extra. I advised them that they should probably take it up with American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has handled all of our issues we've had very professionally so we've never had an issue. There was once it took them a little while to resolve it but things like that happen. Recently, they sent Mr. Appliance for the dryer. They were able to put us on and get us with a local vendor and the local vendor was able to come out quickly, take care of what we needed and had us back up and running in 24 hours.

    We've had American Home Shield for about nine years. A few months ago, I called in for my hot water heater. It was a Sunday and I said, "I need to get somebody out to look at the hot water heater. I know what's wrong with it, it's rusted out, it's done." They said they'd call a vendor. I said, "Well, there's plenty of 24-hour vendors, I'm willing to pay the additional fee if they'll come out today." They said, "Well, we can't do that. We can't just pick a vendor." I told them, "Well, you used to be able to," but then it seemed they've outsourced their call center and they're not as knowledgeable or helpful as they used to be. So instead of having a hot water heater on Sunday, which there were six companies I could have called locally and had them put one in Sunday, I ended up not getting one until a Friday. So, it was five days to go without hot water in the house. That soured me a little bit on them.

    Besides that, they've done a very good job. In the past, they give you a list of two or three companies to choose from. You could say, "Yeah, that one's been great. They've been here before." But now they don't give you that. When I asked them about it, their comment was, "Well, you can get another vendor but you just have to cancel this service, call in again, pay the fee again, and see who you get that time." The chance of getting the same vendor is 50-50. I told them, "No, I'm not gonna do that. You guys should have access to this."

    If you're in the middle of June and your air conditioner's out, you can't be in your house at 110-degree heat all day for five days and hot water heaters fall into that. I can do without a clothes dryer for a few days, but I really don't wanna do without a hot water heater. I got to talk to one of the plumbers. He got hot water heaters on his truck. He could have went and picked up the hot water heater, and we would have paid the same amount. There are a few things AHS can prioritize. Being able to look at other vendors who are 24-hour vendors and have them in their repertoire of people to use would be good.

    Aside from that, I've been happy with them. American Home Shield handled the dryer appropriately. But if they can improve on a few things, it can be a lot better. As people understand a warranty is a protection for them in case something goes wrong, the biggest selling point is if your air conditioner goes out in the first two years, it's gonna get covered.

    The pool equipment wasn't working and All American Pools took care of it. I got a phone call back as soon as I paid my $100 and they out in less than three days. There were some of the items that AHS chose not to cover, which was a little disappointing. But they did cover a good bit. The part that wasn't covered was the pool plumbing, which was spelled out in the contract.     Submitting a claim with AHS has always been painless and very easy. I submitted a claim on the phone because the display where it shows the time and it has your controls for your oven, that display pushed in a little bit. For whatever reason, the wires may have touched when it did that, and it popped. It burned. I talked to the contractor on a Wednesday and he came out on a Wednesday to look at the issue. He ordered the part. The part came in Sunday and that following Wednesday, he put it in. I was very satisfied with the timeframe.

    I'm glad I switched back over to AHS. I had American Home Shield when I first purchased my home and it was a little more expensive than the plan that I switched to, which was First American Home Warranty. But their service was horrible, I was, "I gotta go back." So, I went back to American Home Shield. I am grateful that I did because it's definitely worth every dollar.

    I had my hot water heater looked at. I submitted it and the contractor was here within the next day. I just purchased this house so I was really worried about it and it actually ended up being something as simple as having to relight the pilot light 'cause it's up in the attic. I'm kind of an old grandma and I couldn't get up there. But he was fast, he was efficient, he told me my hot water heater was still new and still under warranty and I did not even know that. It was fixed fast and it was awesome.

    The house I had previously, when I lived in Altus, when I worked at the Air Force Base a year or so ago, my heater went out on there and it was the same issue, a gas pilot light that didn't relight. The technician I had then too was great. He came right out there within a day, he had a certain time, he came in the time frame he said he was going to and had it fixed, and very friendly, very clean. There were a little few things 'cause he had to pull some stuff apart and he cleaned and swept it up.

    Both times I've had to use American Home Shield, they have been wonderful. They were great about getting somebody there within a day or two. I've been very happy with them and I tell everyone I know that if they don't have it, they need to pick up American Home Shield. It's just better to have it and it's definitely worth the money.

    The garbage disposal was leaking. I called American Home Shield's 800 number and notified them. The claims experience was pretty pleasant. The claims this year has been way more pleasant than last year. Last year, was not so much pleasant. I wasn't even going to re-sign up with them. Last year, they fought every time we would call about the problem. They fought all the time on why they would not fix something. So we were not going to go back with them. Then some guy was kind enough to follow up with me in the wintertime. He said he would give me a discount to give AHS another try because he understands how important customer service is.

    For the garbage disposal claim, A-1 Haney Plumbing came out. The garbage disposal seems to be working well. Then when I was phone, I told AHS, “Also, our toilet, it runs and quits, runs and quits, runs and quits” They said, “Okay, we’ll write up that ticket.” Then I said, “Last year, whoever came out and did the water heater, I felt like maybe it hasn't been quite right still.” Whatever connects to the water heater sweats water off and sometimes it can just puddle up hot. The contractors who came out this time were fine. The repair helped a lot. Everything this year has been pretty good.

    My downstairs unit was not cooling very well. It wouldn't get below 80. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield. The website was fine. It said that the contractors would contact me in the next couple of days. We opened the claim on a Friday and then the contractors called me Monday. The technicians came out and they checked the unit. They said that I was low on Freon. It's an older unit so, they added Freon and then they put something that helps with leaks. Since it's an old unit, he said it probably has leaks in it. He put something in the lines that help with leaks. They were great. They took precautions with masks. They never even had to enter my house, which was good. He came in to look at the thermostat, but that was it.

    I put in a claim for the microwave. We sat and waited for the contractor, and then at about five o'clock, I contacted them. They said the guy called out sick. I told them that they didn't have the decency to give me a phone call so I didn't have to sit all day and wait. They were sorry and then they hung up on me. I called American Home Shield and told them that I didn't want that contractor to come and fix the microwave. I ended up having a different one come out. They're local, next town over. They contacted me, set up an appointment, contacted me again before they came out, came out, and looked at it. I got a buyout thing from AHS to buy a microwave. I've had them years ago and they're still good.

    There was a wire that was cut between my bedroom wall and the box outside. The first company American Home Shield sent to handle it was horrible. The tech they sent had every excuse. He came to our door fighting with his girlfriend on video chat. He spent three minutes in the house with no tools and left. He said he had to get permission from work to begin putting holes in our walls but we never heard from him again. Somebody else from the same company checked everything out. He told me what the other guy said already. Three or four days later, I hear from no one about what's going on. The comment I got was that I was a hoarder and that the techs couldn't get through the stuff I had in my house.

    By that time, I was beyond livid. Home Shield sent some other guy who lives close to me. He had all the tools to follow the wire and see where it was coming from. He suspected where the electricity wasn't coming down. He went up in the attic and had the work done in an hour and 20 minutes. He was professional and was an extremely nice gentleman. I praised him for the work. Since the repair, things have been marvelous.

    AHS has to watch out with whom they contract with. The first two contractors left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I just started a new job and it's hard for me to get off work. Currently, I need to get my garage door open and again I went through one of the companies that they sent out initially. The tech wanted to sell me a garage door when nothing is wrong with my door. With AHS, the work gets done, but I have to fight for everything. Plus, it doesn't matter what time I call. Phoning something it takes 45 minutes to an hour. It's either I get disconnected or their reps hang up on me.

    I have a new fridge. But door on its icemaker stopped working. There was a bad circuit board and the tech from MC2 Appliance Service had to order a new one. About five days later, he came back out and replaced it with a new part. It works fine now. I've used American Home Shield three times and each time has been pretty straightforward and simple. Their website is very intuitive. You fill out a small description of the problem and what appliance or piece in your house that's covered is in disrepair. They find an appropriate contracted company that they have that handles those kinds of claims. Then they contact you to set up an appointment that's convenient for you and come out and do the work to your satisfaction. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome every time.

    If the AC reached a temperature, it had to shut off for any reason, and I could not turn it back on. I'd have to turn it off. But it would try to turn on so the motor would still run. The fan wouldn’t spin. The guy from Cutting Edge Total Comfort came out and had his mask on. He actually had the part on hand. He let me know what it was, fixed the issue, and then good to go. Overall, American Home Shield was very great.

    The dryer was not drying properly, and American Home Shield sent AMTEC Services who diagnosed the problem. The lead time for the parts was significant, but there was a kind of a backlog for parts and new appliances because of COVID. So, that took longer than normal. But they were great with communication and came back out when they said they would and fixed it. Now, the dryer runs great. As far as American Home Shield, it would be a little easier to get a live person if you have an issue.

    The water in the dishwasher wasn't draining out. It was in the bottom of the tray. The technician from The Supreme Service came in and he was very professional. He had a mask on and I had one on as well. I talked to him within the six feet distance and when he showed me the dishwasher, he backed away. I came forward and he told me where the issue was, and he fixed it. He ran the dishwasher and let it run its course. He said that the dishwasher was clogged up with built-up grease. So, I run the hot water in the sink before I start the dishwasher because the hot water gets rid of the grease build-up.

    We've had American Home Shield for some years now, so we're okay with it. It is 100% beneficial. You spend your $70 for them to come out and attempt to fix the issue. If the issue can't be fixed, the appliance has to be replaced. If it had to be replaced, you are probably looking at an $800 part or just the whole fix for something like a refrigerator, you're looking at $1,200.

    I have never had a problem with our home warranty until our AC started to leak. The technician came out and "fixed the leak" however a few days later, we noticed it leaking again. Today, I received the work authorization approval which said we would have to pay $6,000 out of pocket to fix the unit. This policy covers nothing and is not worth your money. We chose to pay extra to have our AC covered, and basically just wasted money. I have seen other home warranty companies cover similar AC issues for a few hundred dollars. Don't pick this one.

    This is the worst home warranty company! Very difficult to get ahold of. The website is not user friendly. There is no way to send them an email, you can't edit contact information, there is no way to explain what exactly is going on in an "other box". The companies they contract are not very good. The first company AHS scheduled did not show up. A week later, the second company that was scheduled said they had to replace the majority of the system. It took weeks for AHS to approve this and when they did, the company failed to follow up. This all happened in 90 degree weather.

    In July I called a private company and they came and fixed it on the spot for $350. I then called AHS and told them what happened, told them that I saved them tons of money and asked to be reimbursed. After some back and forth they agreed. As instructed by them I emailed them proof of payment on July 9 to this private company and have not heard anything back since. I messaged them on Facebook because it takes hours to get an agent on the phone to find out what was going on.

    They responded that they were backlogged and it could take a few days to be processed. That was July 24. After not hearing anything again I messaged them on September 11 and they responded that they did not get the receipt. I sent them a screenshot of the email that I had sent them in July. They responded that someone would reach out to me. Of course, I have not heard anything as of today. AHS is quick to accept my payments but when it comes to taking responsibility for their part, they are lax and do not care about their customers. It's amazing how this kind of company stays in business.

    The first guy that came in for my AC claim wanted to charge me $98 to fill up the gas on the compressor. But Home Shield just replaced the compressor last year and normally, gas doesn't go away just like that. I asked how much gas is it going to need and he said it might take five to six pounds which is like $600. I told him I'm gonna need a second opinion and that I didn't want him here. I called Home Shield and I told them they need to send another company because the guy wanted to charge me so much. They sent True Master and the guy charged me $45 per pound. He filled up two pounds of gas right in front of me. He was perfect.

    It's really easy submitting a claim with AHS. You just go online and submit it and they have 24 hours to get back to you. I had no problem when submitting a claim. I just did it on my phone. I had an AC issue and then the contractors came out. We thought they fixed the problem. The day they came, I went and left town to go to The Keys for a week. I came home and realized it was still not fixed. The motor had gone out.

    I called American Home Shield. They put another request in right away. However, the contractors were a little confused. It took them four days to get back out there. So we didn't have any air for about four days. But the guy did a great job when he came and serviced the unit. He fixed it right away and knew what it was. It was just the time of year in Florida. It's busy. But as far as American Home Shield, they were great to deal with. I had no problem at all. They were Johnny-on-the-spot. I highly recommend American Home Shield.

    I've had American Home Shield for years and I've only had one issue, which was taken care of immediately. Last year, one of their subcontractors tried to sell me a contract with them, personally, for a new furnace when I had this coverage. I didn't bite, but it made me second guess that my coverage was good. My son-in-law took care of that. It was very unusual to have that happen and we called the warranty company and complained about it. Other than that, over the years, I've never had anything happen that I haven't expected. These places do the best they can with what they have. I don't expect miracles and I understand waiting.

    When I had my garbage disposal replaced some time ago, I filled out something online. The technician had the replacement when he came and he was a very nice guy. He also wore a mask and he seemed to know what he was doing. Everything was clean and tidy. The last contractor I had was for my old overhead light and he was okay. I work in home health and I wouldn't have let him in if he hadn't had a mask or I would have given him one. He came with one. The claim was for a new ballast in my kitchen and that's not what he does. Inside the light, there's a binding and it was very old and that wasn't replaced. He fixed the light though. The light works and that's all I needed.

    My water bill came last month close to $600. I noticed my toilet was ghost flushing. I reported it to American Home Shield. American Plumbing came and they changed the toilet flapper. They said the issue was fixed. But it started again. So I called them and the second time they came, they said they have to see the issue. I told them that I couldn't show them since it was gonna be like one hour, two hour, three hour or four hour, and it was hard to show. They are a plumbing company and they should know. This is a very general problem. If you check Google, it is very general problem for other people too.

    The guy was very rude and he started to argue with me. He said he had to see and I told him to look at my report and what I mentioned and I couldn't show him. After that, they left. I called every day to them and I never heard from them. I left multiple message. Every day I left one message and nobody called me to give me the status. So I'm not happy with them. They are very unprofessional. This is not the way you treat the customer.

    I called American Home Shield yesterday and asked if they could update me of the status or give me some other vendor. They assigned the claim to a company and they called me to say they are coming on Thursday. The lady that called me said, "If you don't see the issue, we cannot fix." So I her I cannot show her and that she can come but I am not sure it's gonna flush in front of her.

    When I had an issue with my fridge not working, I had a great experience. Dudes were awesome. But with this plumbing claim, it's been more than a month since we called American Home Shield. My wife wanted it to get fixed because we have guests. Whenever guests come, we have to close the water. Otherwise it's gonna run all night and my water bill is gonna go up.

    The experience worked out really well. Beacon Appliance was great and the service from American Home Shield was very good. In the past, I've had a lot of difficulties. To talk to anybody on the phone, you have to wait 45, 50 minutes. The last two phone calls I made, I got through in eight minutes. They mentioned that perhaps it's because they have been trying to hire more people. So, it changed from that point. I'm hoping that the service will be better if I have a need.     Our AC was low on freon and it was leaking. AC Wizard did something where the valve covers on where you put the Freon in. They used the Teflon tape and didn't get any parts. But they said that was where the leak was and with the tape and the new nuts on it, it wasn't leaking anymore. The AC seems to be okay right now. This is the first air conditioning call I've had in a while and the people were fine. They showed up when they were supposed to and they had their mask. They’re professional, put the covers on their shoes when they came in the house. My swimming pool call was the last claim I had and it worked out terrific. I've had the service from AHS for 28 years and most years, I find that I'm either close to or ahead on how much it costs versus what kind of service I’ve had.

    American Home Shield is doing what they said they would do. My experience with them has been great. They do provide service they said they're gonna provide. It's timely. It's easy. It's worth it. Recently, my air went out. It was still blowing but not cold air. It was hot and unbearable so I needed to call American Home Shield and get it fixed. It was a Wednesday or a Thursday that I called but the contractor couldn't get to me until that Monday. They had to come out a couple of times. The first time, the guy said it was the capacitor and that my drain was clogged up. It wasn't draining. He said he replaced the capacitor and flushed it out. A few days later, it stopped working again. He said that I had a faulty float valve. He kind of rigged it and made it work for a couple of days so he could get the part in. But they repaired the existing unit and when I left for work, it was working fine.

    AHS has been super prompt and fair. Also, their website is really solid. I've gotten what I've asked for. We had issues with the HVAC and the pool heater. The HVAC was covered and the pool heater was not. For the pool heater, I called the contractor back and told them we still needed it fixed even though it's not covered and I never heard back. I've called twice. It was kinda disappointing. But the HVAC guy was here promptly and was very courteous. He figured out what the issue was and they were in and out fairly quickly.

    My AC would turn on but wouldn't blow any cold air. Submitting claims online to American Home Shield has been really simple. I just go down their list and click what's wrong with my home. Home Shield sent a company out but then the techs from there said they don't go on roofs. AHS had to get another company for me. They did and Coaches HVAC Extraordinair came out and handled my issue quickly.

    The company who came out for the AC did an excellent job but their hands were tied with what they could do because of the red tape that American Home Shield has with fixing things. You can't fix something that isn't broken so they had to try to fix one thing. The AC kept freezing up so they would have to try one scenario to see if that would fix it. Then, when it froze up again, we had to call them back. If somebody else would have come out, they would have changed three things all at one time. But the contractor had to take the steps. So the first thing they did was fill it up with the coolant.

    The next time they came out, I told them that the fan had kept quitting on the air conditioner. It had to be broken in front of their eyes, even though we were seeing the fan freeze up and quit spinning. While they were there, it wasn't doing that so they couldn't fix it because they couldn't view that problem. So, I had to take a video of it, so that they could see that it wasn't working. Finally, when it completely broke, they could replace it. But that still didn't fix the freezing up issue. So, they had to come back out when it froze up again.

    I'm grateful that I had the warranty but it was a very lengthy process where if I didn't have it, maybe all those issues could have been addressed at one time, instead of being dragged out all through summer. It cost me having to go get a window air conditioner unit because I didn't trust the AC unit on the house. I still don't trust the AC unit. It hasn't frozen up since the last time they were there but I don't really know that we haven't just put a Band-aid on another problem.

    I had drainage problems in the house when we first got in there and I learned the red tape process. I had to be very specific about every little detail that I wanted somebody to come out because when I had plumbers come out the first time, they said that I didn't tell them that the toilet wasn't flushing correctly. I only said that the pipe was clogged so, they could only come out and check the pipe. The workers who come out can only address the issue that a homeowner calls in and it hinders them. Until you're with the company for a while, you don't understand that red tape or if you're using the warranty company, you don't learn that process until almost the end of your year.

    The air conditioner is an air conditioner-heater unit and we had some issues last year with the heater. My warranty is almost ready to expire and I was thinking that we would probably just bandage it this whole year. And at the end of the year, something's gonna happen and I'm gonna be out money when this unit probably should have been replaced. When when we got the warranty, if anything was gonna go wrong with this unit, I was gonna be taken care of but AHS have not. They bandage everything until you're out of warranty or until you buy another warranty for the next year. We thought that this heater-air conditioner was in a lot better condition because we had somebody look at it before we bought the house and we were told it was gonna last. But we had so many issues with it. I've already started saving to try to be prepared for next year because I do not think it's gonna last.

    AHS is making a lot of money and you can't talk to anybody. Everything is automated or through the computer. Even when my daughter was trying to get ahold of them to say what the air conditioner repairman said and ask when we could get it fixed, she could not get ahold of anybody. We would have to stay on hold for three hours to get through to a customer representative. Nobody has three hours to sit on hold. My daughter did it once and I did it once, just to get ahold of them and ask where we were with this and if would get it fixed. We never got anywhere.

    That should not all fall on American Home Shield but they're selling that when you buy a warranty with a home and if something major went wrong, you have the comfort of knowing that they're standing behind you. I bought that house the same time that my daughter bought another house and we both have the same warranty. Her air conditioner completely quit in the middle of summer this year. The same company came to fix it and they said it was gonna be $2,000 to do a new fix. AHS did not stand behind them. They said it was probably gonna be 8 to 12 weeks before they would get an answer if it was gonna get fixed. My daughter and her husband had to take out a loan to get a new air conditioner system for their house because they had four kids in the house.

    American Home Shield ended up paying them $507 since they went ahead and bought a new unit. Their unit was dead and AHS should have replaced their unit but they didn't. It's cut and dry, especially in my daughter's instance, where the unit was done. The $2,000 part to get it running again is not worth it. American Home Shield should have been there saying that they should get her a new unit.

    I had a plumbing issue where The Clogfather came out. The techs did a very good job and they were very professional. They shut off all the water then they changed out the faucet. They put one of those new sprayer things in, too. They told me what they were doing and while they were here, they had masks and observed distancing. And since the service, everything's been fine. But when our washer broke down, the techs couldn't fix it because something was wrong with the drum. It was bent or something. So we had to buy a new one, then my wife sent all the paperwork to get some money back. Then, they said they didn't get the paperwork, so she resubmitted it. That was about four weeks ago and now we're just waiting to hear from them. Other than that, AHS has been really good with us in stuff that happened that we needed the warranty for. For instance, they always fixed our air conditioner and we've always been satisfied with the service.

    I called AHS and I made a claim for my air conditioner. They told me they were gonna send somebody. However, the person who came over here, he went to every single room. I told him that he has to check the AC and he was supposed to go over there where the unit is. But he said, "Oh, no. Normally, it's over here." So he went even inside the closet. My baby, she's 18 and she was in her room. My husband was also in his room and he was sleeping. My house has four rooms so he went to every single room. I was upset. I said, "Sir, I think what you need to check is the unit." Then he was like, "Normally it's here."

    After that, he was like, "Okay. Show me." I said, "It's right here in the third floor." Then I said, "Do you want me to stay?" Because I was waiting for him. He said, "No. I'll be there." When I went downstairs, after five minutes, he came downstairs and said, "They're gonna call you." He was supposed to check outside too. But he just left. Then somebody called me. They said, "Well, this guy said the AC is working." I said, "What are you talking about?" Then they told me, "We're gonna send a different person." Another company came in and they said, they had to replace the cord. They told me, it was 2,800. I said, "That is a lot of money." I said, "We just need to make sure if they're gonna give me a warranty." Then they told me somebody was gonna give me a callback but they never did that.

    I also had a plumbing issue with my toilet. But the contractor who came said it was working. Also, I called because my sink was dripping water. Because one day, I brushed my teeth and I heard a noise. I opened everything on the sink when I brushed my teeth and I saw it was leaking. So when the guy came in after three days, it was not leaking. I was glad that he didn't have to work or fix any extra. He was really professional. He checked everything. He was on time. I was happy. But with the air conditioner, I was not happy.

    The original company out of Dallas came down in an attempt to fix the air conditioner. They supposedly vacuumed out the lines but he did not do that. The water backed up and it leaked like crazy down through the light fixture in our master bedroom closet including the sheet rock. Above the sheet rock, the light fixture itself couldn't be used. I took pictures of it. There was about 14-inch circle of heavy black and green mold. I called back and the company in Dallas was gonna send the same guy out to fix it. I said he didn't know that much when he was there before and he definitely caused some problems. I threw in an extra 100 bucks and got another company out. Kelly Brothers came out, made an assessment and disconnected the light fixture. They were responsive and helped us out. They eventually solved the problem and I haven't had any problem with leaking water since then.

    They said I could go back to American Home Shield. I talked to two or three levels in American Home Shield and apparently, the fine print says that according to the contract with the company in Dallas, they're not responsible for any water damage. I'm not ignorant on several things, but I found myself apparently ignorant on this one. I've done a lot of contracts, written them myself or signed them over the years. American Home Shield needs to make sure that their customers are doubly made aware that they're not responsible for any collateral damage. If somebody is walking through and repairing up in your attic and they put their foot through and fall, they're not responsible for it. But this is the second time we've done American Home Shield and I don't have any problem up to this point in time. As a matter of fact, we've had some other items fixed. Am I gonna continue to do American Home Shield? The answer is yes. They are incredible.

    American Home Shield is a great product to have for your home. If you own a home, you need to have it because anything can go wrong and they make it so easy to get the repairs done. When my lights wouldn't work in my bathroom. I filed a claim with them. I don't know what happened but the day that the technician showed up, the lights were working. He really didn't have to do anything but he still was very pleasant. He explained to check some of these things next time before I file a claim and different things to kinda troubleshoot it if it happened again after he left. I still think it was money well spent.

    The process is great. You go on and tell American Home Shield what's wrong. You click then they set up an appointment for you. You pay your deductible and they send someone out. It's very user-friendly. I've had a couple of claims and each person that's come out to do the work has been really great. Each one of the techs has given us very cordial service. They've come in and have been protected. They've had their mask and they've done what they were supposed to do.

    I've not had any problems with American Home Shield other than every year, you pay more for the service call. Once in a while, you'll get a vendor that's not as prepared to do the job. But most of the time, if I've had 10 claims, eight times, I'm very satisfied. That's a pretty good record. Recently, the transformer burnt out on the air handler which was a symptom of the problem. It was a short in the wiring that goes to the thermostat and the contractor handled it very well. They saw the problem, figured out the transformer was burnt out and replaced it. But they immediately saw that it was drawing too much current and found the short and fixed it.

    The guy from Prodigy Appliance Repair was very professional and everything he did was great, but it didn't totally fix the problem. Our unit wasn't cooling and at first he thought it needed a compressor, but then he thought, “No, once it cools off, it'll be fine.” He said it needed a new thermostat and he did that. It worked for about a day and it's not coming on again. The AC is in a house we're moving into, and I'm only there half a day usually trying to get paint in the landing.

    I've had a million things going on and I haven't had time to call, but my experience would depend on how this next thing goes whenever I have them come back out, if they get the problem fixed. It would be nice if I didn't have to go through the whole process again, if they called to make sure everything was working within a week instead of me having to go back, make a whole other claim and pay another $125. For me, I get agitated after a while and I would just pay for the repair. It's probably not fair to American Home Shield because then, I’m like, “Well, that didn’t work. I wouldn’t get them."

    Whenever I would use the left sink in the kitchen, the water would run out of the piping underneath and the upstairs sink was clogged. I run a child care service here so I need both the sinks to be working properly. The woman at Home Shield who made the order said she had to note that I want something in the kitchen and something in the upstairs. When I made the appointment, I was told the contractors had 24 hours and at that time, I was trying to get them out here for the 24 hours. The rep said if they can't get it, I have the right to ask for a different contractor so I did.

    When that next appointment came, they told me it would either be that Thursday or Friday. They confirmed it was Friday and that was when the man came out. A-1 Affordable Plumbing came out but they didn't see that I had two issues. But the guy was professional. He looked at the issue and explained afterwards what he did. I was pleased with him.     When I've had Home Shield come out to check the furnace as it stopped working, they sent people out, and I tried to explain to the people that it's a radiator system that heats the floor of the house. Then they said they didn't know how to do it. But Home Shield still charged me. They also sent someone that said I didn't do this and that, and that someone wrote it to the paper and Home Shield wouldn't cover it. I find it very frustrating that I've paid, I've been in the system for over 10 years with two properties under them, I got a problem, and then they said they would not fix it or that I needed to buy another furnace. I don't call them for a lot of stuff. I can never get them on the phone.

    Home Shield should make sure that the people they're sending out understand it. They should also try to be in some way focus on their customer. I understand people are in business to make money. But they also want loyalty to the people that continue to them. They replaced a ceiling fan in my house and water heater some years back. Then recently, the toilet wouldn't stop leaking even though I tried to fix it. C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came and fixed it. They did a really good job. They said that it is guaranteed for at least 30 days and if we have any more problems, we call them and let them know. I've never had a company that came out and said that to me. This was the first time.

    We have had a home warranty with another company on some of our rental property that we were not satisfied with.     GE came out two times, and then another one came out. This is my third claim with American Home Shield. It's always been the same thing. The freezer's not getting cold enough. It's like 25 degrees and the refrigerator was supposed to be at least 40, and we're looking at 55 degrees. What it's doing is it is freezing up behind the wall and not thawing out properly. The latest technician that came out is gonna replace all the parts that had been previously replaced. He was saying that it could possibly be that wrong parts were put in or there's another part that they didn't put in. So, that's his solution. He's ordering the parts to replace everything.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield is not difficult. I just go online and request a service request. I've never had any real problem with them. But with this latest claim, it's a little bit aggravating because over a period of time, we lost some food. And each time, it cost me $75. So now, I put out $200-some to fix a problem that wasn't fixed to begin with. I don't appreciate that. Other than that, I've had a good experience with American Home Shield.

    The condenser of the AC was not working. The claim submission was a little bit difficult for me because I was not familiar with the AHS process. The other issue was that it was not possible to reach them during the off days, especially on Saturday, Sunday. Other things were good. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and they replaced the condenser. It's working now.

    Everything went well with my recent claim with AHS regarding the AC unit. The contractor was out here the same day that I called that morning. He happened to be making a run out this way for another call and he just came right out and did it that same day that I called it in. He did great. It was determined that it needed a fan motor. The contractor happened to have a motor with him that he put on there. It’s been working ever since.

    Everything that we've ever had to call out for repair has always worked really well, all the repairs they’ve made that we've ever needed. We're pleased with the service of AHS. I’ve had AHS for several years and it has been very beneficial. Because now, we've lived here going on 24 years, and that service has saved us a lot of grief over the years with the appliances that we’ve had.     I'm very unhappy with American Home Shield. The contractors have always been very good though. They know what they're doing. When the contractor came out to fix the washing machine this time, he said something had broken the washing machine while it was spinning. He said, "It's totally destroyed. I can't repair it. They're gonna have to replace it." He said, "They're gonna be emailing you."

    They said that they were emailing us and were keeping us up to date but we're not receiving anything. I get their emails all the time. I got an invoice from them saying payment's due, but it's on auto pay. I can log on and it says my claim has been settled and it's closed. But when we call to get ahold of someone, we get somebody in India with chickens clucking in the background and we can't talk to anybody that we could really understand. Nothing's being done. So we've been weeks without a washing machine. We went and got another one. Now, I don't want them to fix the old washer, I just want them to give me money.

    Submitting claims with AHS has been simple. Every time we've submitted a claim, it's been taken care of. But this time, it's been the most difficult to get ahold of anybody. It just seems to be a never-ending process. Other than not being able to get ahold of them and wait for an hour online, they say they'll call you back. But when they call you back, it's somebody you can't understand and knows nothing. You have to re-explain the entire situation again. They can't just put somebody on our claim. I really wish they had let the repairman deal with it because the repair person knows what's going on. If the repairman says, "Send a washing machine," just send the stinking washing machine and let him put it in. Don't try to yank me around with emails for weeks.

    I've had American Home Shield since I've been in Georgia and it's been seven years. They what they say they're gonna do. I filed a claim for the dryer that was not working by phone and I got a recording. I didn't like that. I wanted to talk to a representative but I don't know how you get past the recording to do that. But the contractor came and he'd been here before 'cause I've had three other occasions with the same dryer and the same company. I didn't understand quite what he was saying. He had a heavy accent. But he was professional. He did what he was supposed to do and ordered a part but it hasn't come in yet.

    Draingo came out and installed the water heater. They removed the old, put in the new and charged me X amount of dollars for them to do their work. Our interaction was fine. They even cleaned up after they were done. When I file claims to American Home Shield, it's usually through a phone call. They're pretty prompt in making sure that the customer is taken care of. I've been with them now for a number of years, and they send out qualified technicians to perform the work that I needed done, for the most part. It's been a good experience overall. AHS has been considerate and professional.

    The guy was fine. He got the air conditioning issue fixed. So far, American Home Shield is good. I had them for years and I went with another company because there were a lot of things that American Home Shield didn't cover that I felt should’ve been covered. For instance, my garbage disposal was old and rusty. The guy took it out then told American Home Shield that it was installed improperly. He charged me $300 to put it back together which I had to pay. I went to Home Depot and saw the exact model for $100. When they say improperly installed, maybe American Home Shield needs to find out how they're saying that. That was not the first time I had someone come out and say something was improperly installed. They did the same thing with my ceiling fan. It fell out of the ceiling because it was rotten up there. The person I had to have come out to fix it for me said, “No, it's not. Everything's right here.” That person wanted me to pay them for a new fan and install it.

    I also had a problem with my filter on my pool. The piping that comes into it, when you replace that one piece, you have to go back and back and back to replace all of it and American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. They said they don't replace pipes. That's part of what they took off to replace the part that was leaking so they're all connected. They’re glued together so they had to bring it in. But I had to pay for that over and above. I complained about that but American Home Shield wouldn't pay for it.

    About four weeks ago, I had a washer and a dryer repaired. The young man who came out was able to complete the job the first time. He ordered the part for both the washer and the dryer. He fixed the washer. It's working very well. The dryer worked well for a couple of weeks but it started having problems again. The dryer cuts off before the cycle ends and it's not drying the clothes.

    I was trying to call to get someone to come out here and fix the dryer. I talked to this foreign lady about three times. I was trying to tell the lady that the dryer was not working properly and she appeared to not understand what I was saying. She interrupted me as I was talking and I just said okay while not understanding the words that she was saying. When I asked to speak to someone I could understand, we were automatically disconnected. She just hung up on me. When I called right back, she answered the phone again. She said she was gonna call me back in 15 minutes but that call never came back.

    I went on and just made a new order and I paid the $100 even though I shouldn't have to pay another $100 to get a person out there. I just want someone to come out and fix the dryer and I'm just accepting whatever I can get to get it fixed. Sears would be coming by to do that. I don't mind if I have to pay another $100 for someone to come out and fix my dryer. But I don't think it's in my contract because I have a combo. I tried to get the best that I could with American Home Shield. I had it before and it was great. But somehow, it's not working right now. It's not something I will recommend to someone.

    I called American Home Shield because I had issues in the house. AHS was kinda grouping the issues as to who should see them. One thing that was wrong was my stovetop or range as the burners that sit on top of an island were not working. Our gas was working and so was our electric in the house. Our electric bill and our gas bill were been paid as well. I also told AHS about the fact that I had a leak or I had something that was showing itself on the floor. It was in front of the dishwasher but our I didn't say that the dishwasher wasn't working.

    I don't know who should come for what and I rely on AHS. I tell them what the problem is and they choose. The person with AHS said they would get an appliance guy out. But prior to that, an electrician was coming as well. He helped me with the things that needed to be fixed and directed me where I needed maybe a battery. When the appliance guy came, he said the issue was electrical and all I needed was for an electrician to look at the socket and fix that. He said he would have the order transferred because that should have been an electrical issue. But the electrician was just here. AHS sent an appliance guy and I waited for him never thinking that maybe I should have had the electrician come. But technicians can't look at anything that isn't on their list.

    This is more a problem for AHS. They should first say, “Since that uses electricity, let’s make sure that the electrician looks at that first since he's coming for a bunch of things.” It's the same with the thing on the floor. They should have never sent the appliance guy. He didn't really accomplish anything except to say that it was the job of the other two people who were already here.

    One time we had an Emeril oven that wasn't working. It was truly the oven. But because of the way it is, everything runs off of the gas. The gas and the electric weren't working on it. If you understand the way these things go, you would understand that the electric was crucial to the fan working on the stovetop and the gas turning on. But AHS didn't understand that or didn't think of that. It was not One Way Electric’s fault. It was the fact that someone needed to understand that an electrician should have been called about the stovetop.

    At this point, the electrical guy, One Way, hasn't been back because they said they are waiting to find out that it's okay for them to come back. We're still lighting the range with a gaslighter. I called the contractor early Monday last week. I called the week before too because this is something we need and because all my husband's cooking is stinky food and it sticks up the house. I hate that. I need to be able to get the fan on. I also texted the contractor last week asking them to call me is they haven't heard from American Home Shield on Friday. He said he would follow up. He’s a nice guy and he was very helpful in the house. He just, wants to be paid for what he does.

    We have anotehr house that's gonna be sold within a month. I have been carrying American Home Shield on that for a year and a half without anybody living in it. It's probably silly because nothing’s been broken and nothing's even gonna be broken since we haven't used it. It certainly cost us a lot of money. But it's one of those things. I would love it if as an excellent customer for all these years, AHS could give me a few months back on that because I did it just because there is peace of mind.

    When you're living in a house, it's great to have a warranty. I had the plumber who unclogged some drains that were a problem. It wasn't even a big deal but it was to us like when we're brushing our teeth and the water doesn't go down properly. Why do we have to live like that? It's a minor inconvenience, but nonetheless an inconvenience.

    There was also the case where the fella with One Way Electric came out and we couldn't get the fan and the light to work properly. He showed me the battery that needed to go into my thing and he explained to me how the mechanics of this work. Now, my son has a light so he can walk into his room and get his homework done. If he wants to turn on or turn off his fan, he can. That sounds very small but that is a huge help. My husband would never get around to doing that as he's not an electrician. That was a benefit being able to do that. It's an expensive benefit to some people but we can afford it. You give up something else to have that convenience.

    We had an experience before where it cost us an extra 5,000 to 7,000 because a plumber didn't wanna do his job. He told me the wrong thing because he didn't wanna deal with a sewage issue. I didn't understand how it all worked. When we sold the house, he gave the wrong information because it was underneath the house.

    I like American Home Shield although it’s been disappointing in some ways and it's been a waste in some ways. But it's been a great peace of mind. I appreciate the fact that when it works, it works well. There are times when the contractors either don't want to approach an issue, they don't know how, or they don't wanna do it. Sometimes it really puts the customer in a bad spot, but I'm relying on them as the professional to do what they're obligated to do and to do what is in my best interest.

    Submitting the claim to American Home Shield is not hard but it's tricky to figure out what's covered or what's not. So, we have to call several times to figure that out. If the claim is something simple, I usually do it online but for the AC, I always have to call. The contractor was able to make the fix but we had to pay out of our pockets. We’ve had AHS for several years and the premium got more and more expensive but the coverage is less and less. So, I’ve considered to cancel my service at this point. It's almost like nothing it covers is worth it. If it's something simple like changing the toilet, I still have to pay the $75 deductible.

    In my basement, there's the main water line that comes into the house. That pipe is inside a PVC pipe that goes through the concrete slab for the foundation of my house. In my basement wall where the PVC pipe is, not the pipe that runs through the bigger PVC pipe but the pipe that runs through the concrete slab, there was water leaking from the crevice in the wall. Water had worked its way around the cracks and crevices of the PVC pipe so no pipe was leaking. The water was coming in from the ground around that pipe where it comes through my wall. A couple weeks ago when we got all that rain, there was a lot of water. It was shooting out really bad. Since it rained, I noticed that there was a slight drip. The more it rained, the more accumulation. The wetter my yard was, the longer it took that water to run off and dry out.

    I called American Home Shield and C Mayes Plumbing came out. The guy looked at it and said, "We don't do this. You need a basement sealing company." Before he left, he said he would let American Home Shield know what his recommendation was. But apparently, he didn't do that because two days later, I started calling American Home Shield. The rep said the guy didn't tell them anything. The first time they tried to call them, it was on a weekend. I called back again during the week. They called. They got the voicemail and couldn't get through. Then I called again. I had three calls and thought they couldn't get ahold of him. I had his number so I texted, "Hey, can you call American Home Shield and let them know what you recommend?" There was no response from Robert from C Mayes Plumbing. Maybe American Home Shield needs to reevaluate that relationship.

    In the meantime, my wall was still leaking so I called another plumber, John C. Flood Plumbers, because I can't have water running into my basement. The other plumber came out and told me how they will fix it. But what they will have to do was they will have to dig up my yard in the front where the pipe comes out and waterproof around the outside wall to keep the water from coming through. I have somebody else coming out tomorrow that's gonna give me the full price of what everything costs including digging up the pipe in my yard.

    American Home Shield been has been good. But at the same time, I don't know if it was like a call center but I don't think the person was familiar. One time I called them on a Saturday morning. She said she would follow through and would call them back but a whole week went by. That was a whole week to call them during the week during normal working hours.

    Earlier this year, I used American Home Shield to send a plumber out because my sewage ejector pump in my basement stopped working. It got a backlog. It started to flood a little bit and you could tell the water was rising around it. The plumber came out and cleared out the clog in it. But one of the things they noticed about my sewage ejector pump was whoever installed it with the house didn't put the vent pipe on it. It's supposed to have two pipes. One that sucks the sewage out and another one to vent the gas off of it. They said, "You really need this or your pump is gonna get messed up." They did the same thing and said, "We'll let American Home Shield know that you probably need a gas pipe to run off on your sewage ejector pump." They gave me a little price quote. They said they would let American Home Shield know but that was the last I heard about that.

    The first Sears guy that came out couldn't figure out what was wrong with the switch inside the fridge. Then, we figured it out together, and he ordered the part and said he's gotta come back in two weeks. We'd have to give the part a week to come because it's coming directly to our house. So, it came. Another guy came out two weeks later to tell me that the guy had ordered the wrong parts. So, now, we gotta wait another two weeks for them to order the part and come in and for him to come back and fit it.

    There was no communication from Sears. They just ordered the part, it came, they turned up when they said it was a wrong part. The guy wasn't apologetic either. He said, “I couldn’t understand why your refrigerator is silver and they send a white one. And yeah, it doesn't fit. It's the wrong part.” Then, he went on to say, “Oh, we're having trouble getting parts and maybe they just thought they'd send you something or send you nothing.” I said, “Well, if it's not going to work, there's no point in sending something.” He just said, “Yeah, I'm gonna have to come back.” He did call to say he was on his way the first time, but we didn't get a call the second time. They came back and fixed it. It was an annoying problem. It was the switch inside the fridge that if you didn't slam it shut, it would keep beeping, saying that the door was open. So, as long as you slammed it shut, it was fine. So, it wasn't as if it was a major problem.

    As far as American Home Shield, some of their callers' English isn't very good. I had to have a callout to my furnace, and they booked the wrong contractor. I asked if it could be Weathervane because that's who we deal with and we got a service through them. But because it was something that had gone wrong with it, we couldn't just call Weathervane. We have to come through American Home Shield. Weathervane said, “Oh, you can ask for us.” So, I asked for them, and they said somebody will contact me within the next 24 hours. Three days went by and nobody had contacted me. So, I called back and they said, “Oh, yes. Such and such company is coming out and they're coming out on this day.” I said, “Well, we wanted Weathervane.” They said, “Oh, well, we're going to have to cancel it, but you're going to have to pay again. But we will issue a refund.” It seemed to be really messy.

    The person I was talking to at the very beginning, her English wasn't very good. I've got an accent, too, so I don't think she could grasp what I was saying. That was a little irritating. That was the second time. I've had issues and each time, it was with the furnace. Last time, they charged me and then nobody came out. When I called them, they said that they never received the payment, so they weren't coming out. This was a couple of years ago. So, there seems to be a communication issue.

    We had two different AC claims. One of them was a unit that had coils leaking and it wouldn't hold Freon and it wasn't working. American Home Shield paid a little bit but I ended up paying a ton to completely replace the HVAC system. Then the second claim was for a blower motor thing that was dead. We also thought about replacing the whole system but we didn't. So we did a repair on that one by replacing the compressor motor.

    My air conditioner wasn't working but now it's working. So, it’s good. I’m very pleased with A-US Air but I’m not happy at all with American Home Shield. I'm not gonna renew. Their policy doesn't pay to replace the system no matter how old and broken down it is. They will keep putting a band-aid on it even though the air conditioner is 20 years old and the parts are no longer available. The system really begs to be replaced but they still will only do a repair. So, their contract is worthless.

    The faucet was dripping and I fixed it myself for $25. It worked perfect. My granddaughter came and she turned it on. It broke so I called American Home Shield. APC Plumbing came out and put a new one in and cleaned out the faucet. It was within a day or so and it works great now. The guy was good. He came out, put on his booties and he had on his mask. He was timely. The claim worked out fine and I was happy about it. In fact, I placed another order last Saturday and they came out Monday. It was for my swamp cooler. Something happened there and he had to replace the pump. But now the water is running off the roof so something's wrong with the float.

    Our pool light quit working and we had a man to come out and change it. It burned out. My husband dealt with the technician and he was very happy with the service. The technician said that there was something wrong with the GFI switches in the pump house and so we probably needed a GFI switch. My husband changed out the GFI switch and it still wasn't working. So we thought that there was something wrong with the line that ran to it. Some wire had broken there and the technician repaired the wire.

    There were also a couple of places that he repaired the wiring. We had some extensive remodeling done to our backyard five years ago. Then there was a plug by a built-in barbecue that we had removed. Evidently, the place where that wire hooked up with the other wires had deteriorated and he fixed that connecting wire up there. Everything is perfect now. In fact, when he was here, everything instantly began working. Even the light. We had purchased a replacement light already and we were able to return the light because all of our electric was working.

    Every time we've called American Home Shield, we've had exactly the same kind of service but once where a guy didn't fix things. AHS had someone else come out instantly and it was repaired. We've always been happy with their service. I rarely recommend anything to anybody because things can be different for one person than they are for another. But we do recommend American Home Shield to people all the time. It's a wise investment. You’d save yourself a lot of money when you have somebody to rely on for fixing things.

    A&R could not fix it the issue so American Home Shield offered to pay out $1,200 something. We had to go buy a new one in the meantime which we did. It takes a lot to get something out of American Home Shield. I called for two and a half hours. I like to talk to somebody in the United States when I have a problem and not wait for two and a half hours on my phone ‘cause it's hard to do when I'm working. But when I called the Philippines to find out where my check is ‘cause it said it’d be 10 to 14 days, I couldn't understand the rep very well. My husband finally called and waited online for about an hour and 20 minutes and got ahold of someone in Arizona. She said that the check hadn't even been cut yet. That gal in the Philippines could have seen that and told me that, but she didn't. So it's a runaround. If it's American Home Shield, they should have people in America talking to you, or call it Philippines Home Shield ‘cause it just doesn't make sense.

    I’ve always had American Home Shield. I've probably had it 20 years. I had it in my old house and I've had it in my new house. It's been beneficial for me because I have saved my gas top. They were gonna give me a gas top that didn't fit into my opening of my range. They kept fighting and I had to fight and fight for weeks for that. Then my whole house fan went out. They did replace that after I did much research on trying to find a new motor for them. I had to kinda do my homework. Other than that, everything else has been replaced though it doesn't pay every month I'm paying. I've given them a lot of money so what I'm hoping for is when my air conditioning goes out someday, they will be helpful and cover that.     I have about five accounts with American Home Shield. Everything is going well except the fact that I have had a stove that hasn't been working for three weeks. I called it in and it took forever to get someone. I don't like that. They should use that service where you press one and they'll call you back when an operator is free. To hold on the line for an hour is ridiculous. It's uncalled for when you're paying for a service every single month. They don't miss the payment but you can miss them trying to get service.

    The man came and did what he could do. But he couldn't even tell us what he thought was wrong with the oven and that was a problem for me. When you call a mechanic, he ought to know what the problem is. Then he said, "It's working now." We turned it on and it started doing the same identical thing as if he had never been in this house. It was a waste of my precious time. We called them back. I had to wait about three or four days for him to come back. I wanted to have it for the holidays and I couldn't get him. He came on Tuesday and said he needed to order a part. I am still without my oven and that's a problem to me. I'm paying every month and can't get into service. I don't appreciate that. They are also expensive. My son was telling me about the service he has. He doesn't have the issues I got and his is cheaper.
