    I called American Home Shield and then, I got a phone call back from AMTEC regarding the furnace. They got it working the way it needed to be. A short time ago, my dishwasher stopped working. So, American Home Shield sent a guy out and he got it working too. So, it went well. The experience I had with AHS was very good. They took care of everything and it was done in a timely manner.

    The technician that American Home Shield sent out here did very well. He was in here for about 45 minutes. He was perfect at what he did. He did everything in a timely manner, cleaned up his mess and was very thorough about explaining what was going on with everything. There was nothing that he did that he didn't walk me through. Also, he was very quiet and you wouldn’t even know he was in the home. I am very pleased with that particular technician and I was very familiar with him.

    The warranty is very good and it's excellent to have. When I put in for my request, I get my appointments. They are very fast with everything that they do. Before you can leave the phone or get offline, they've already assigned someone to your case. They have already given you full information on it and everything that you need to contact whatever your issue is in your home. American Home Shield gives you all of that right then and there, so there's no need to go back and forth with anything. They’re very helpful and full of information. I've only been with them for a few weeks but I love the way they do their work and the company itself. I couldn't ask for a better company and you cannot go wrong with them. I'm pleased with their work.

    I called American Home Shield because it was backing up in my toilets, tubs and showers, and the back of my bedroom area smelled awful. It wasn't something I needed to wait a day or two on. They said okay and they had somebody around the area so they came on out. The contractor was fast. They came out and fixed the problem. The main plumbing in the house was all stopped up. There was, apparently, a wye and he ran the thing through it and cleaned it out.

    I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. They're pretty quick with most things. They give me the number so I can contact the people and I get a pretty decent response. Some of the people in the area seemed to be a little slow, but that's not in any relation to American Home Shield. However, American Home Shield could be a little quicker with their response on issues with a component and having to have people out multiple times. I've had some things that had to get replaced and it had taken several months before it was done. I don't like that kinda turnaround. I also don't like the fact that if I do have to call, I'm on the phone forever trying to get something to go through. The wait time is long and that's very frustrating.

    Since we first had American Home Shield, we'd found out some things aren't listed which seem kind of hidden. The contract should be a little bit more clear in the beginning. We have an ongoing problem with the plugs that are in the garage. We've had people out here and they said if it doesn't connect to the house, they can't work on it. But it's also a same electrical plug line that runs all the way outside, around the outside of the house plugs that are connected to the house. It also runs the septic tank.

    I've used American Home Shield a couple of times over the years. But I don't think it's set up to be super helpful. It sounds good, but when you have a problem, it doesn't always work well. It has never worked for me the way you think it's going to. We have more than one issue that we wanna get rectified. They were saying we can only submit one claim at a time. It's gonna take another month to submit the next claim. It was also a very time-consuming process to get signed up with American Home Shield. It was challenging. But we're still satisfied. Dan’s Pro-Lock came out recently to rekey and they were good.

    Dawson Services did a preseason heating checkup. They let me know when they were coming, when they were on the way, and when they were here. Everything went smoothly. I got a service for my refrigerator. It wasn't cooling and the temperature wasn't working right. The contractor, Sears, came out three times. They put in a new board and it didn't work. I called them again and they came out and did the same thing. It was a different person. He put in a new board and it didn't work.

    On the third time, the person who came out happened to be the same individual who came out the first time. I got a notice to get a new refrigerator and it had to come from the contractor who came out and he immediately called. I just got a new refrigerator. It looks a lot like the other one, but it's a different brand and it's slightly different from the manual that they left me. So, I was looking at that and figuring it out. I'm just trying to get used to it. Overall, I've been satisfied with American Home Shield. The claim submission is fairly easy. I've called and filed a claim it online. Everybody I know who had switched did switch back to American Home Shield.

    We got our home through a charity and they recommended American Home Shield to us. The coverage came with the first year after our purchase and it was up to us to renew it. Not too long after we had our house, we had a hot water heater issue and we had to have a new one installed. One of the people who came to install the replacement didn't install it correctly so we had to have another one put in. All it cost us was a $75 fee that AHS charges to send somebody out. It was such a great value that we decided to keep our warranty up.

    Most recently, we had a claim for our freezer, ice maker, and dishwasher. Home Shield's contractor, Green’s Appliance LLC called and set an appointment with us. The techs were great. My wife had some questions but they were able to answer them to her satisfaction. There was one thing with the dishwasher that they were unable to do anything with but they explained that to my wife and she understood. It is a GE dishwasher and whoever put it in didn't do it correctly so it wasn't something that could be covered by AHS. Everything else has been performing well.

    There was a leak in the shower. TJ Plumbing was assigned to us and this is the fourth plumber that had been assigned to for this problem. Every one of them said the same thing. They could not go into the crawlspace to turn off the main water valve. The AHS authorization department says that they could not. But the representatives keep telling me that they could. I don't know what the problem is. But I am really ripping mad at AHS right now. I have been waiting for them to get back to me. The person this morning said he was from the authorization department, which was not true. He said he would get back to me shortly and let me know what was going on. Every time someone from their office says that they'll get back to me, they never ever do.

    With this one leak, it's been going on for about three months. The problem is, every time I call and I want a supervisor to call me back, nobody ever calls back and I cannot get the issue resolved. I'm very annoyed with this whole company right now. Nothing is happening. I guess I have to hire my own plumber to do this. I'm out the $100 service fee that I was charged for this. Plus I have to pay someone out of pocket to do something that should be covered. This is not working out well and I'm seriously thinking about dropping the home warranty service. Why should I pay $90 a month if when I call, something can't be done?

    For another claim I had, AHS sent someone out to check my central air unit. That needed to be replaced and fortunately, they did that. But there was a problem with that also because the person should have checked out my thermostat as there was definitely something wrong with that. But I could never get him to come back and check it out. He said he was going to check with AHS to see about getting the part but he never got back to me. I called AHS and it was after the 30 days. Now, I can't even have that done unless I pay another $100 fee. It's been quite the experience, to say the least. I'm kind of disillusioned with the whole thing right now.

    I had two different companies come out and they were both fantastic. I had an issue with the icemaker and the freezer in the refrigerator, and I also had an issue with our hood fan above the stove.     We noticed that the water heater was leaking. I called American Home Shield and they got ahold of somebody, and then A-1 Haney Plumbing contacted me. They came out for the repair within a couple of days. It wasn't very long. We had to wait because American Home Shield had to order the water heater. As soon as the water heater came in, then A-1 came and fixed it. They were very friendly and very helpful.

    A long time ago, we had a claim with the washer. We have a stackable washer and dryer. AHS was really good about getting somebody out here and getting it fixed. We've been very satisfied with it. They do an outstanding job. They don't put you on hold, they don't tell you to wait, they talk to you, they ask you what's wrong, and they rectify the situation. It's very painless.

    The refrigerator went out and American Home Shield got ahold of Merit’s right away. Then, Merit’s came out and looked at the refrigerator. They said it couldn't be repaired and they put it in. Home Shield did a wonderful job. We're expecting a new refrigerator. I'm really satisfied. I've told people to get Home Shield and that they are a great company. The minute my daughter who was in England for several years got back to the country, I told her she needs to get it.

    Our AC unit inside the house was leaking, so we submitted a claim to have a professional come check that out. The actual submissions were extremely easy. It was all online and I didn't have to talk to anyone. I paid for it immediately and then I got an email in less than five minutes later and connected me with a professional in my area.

    When Home Shield put us in contact with the HVAC company, they said that they would reach out to us in 24 hours to schedule the employment. But they did give us a phone number so I just reached out almost immediately and scheduled my own appointment. They had my claim number and my information. They were able to pull it off.

    My wife was when the contractor came but as far as she told me, it was also very easy. He came in and he was able to diagnose the problem. That ended up being a very simple fix. He made the fix and then left. All the billing went straight through Home Shield. He didn't leave us an extra invoice so we just had to pay the deductible to Home Shield.

    We needed a secondary professional to come out because when the first guy left, his fix didn't quite do the job. So we called that company back and they said that based on what I told them, it didn't sound like they could fix it. We needed an actual plumber 'cause at first, we had an HVAC professional come out. So, they contacted a plumber and had the plumber come out. They did all that for us which was nice. The plumber came out the same day and made his fix. Then, again, didn't leave an invoice. We did all the billing presumably through Home Shield. Then we have been good since.

    The experience was pretty seamless and easy to do. I am definitely glad that I have a home warranty. But I'm interested in is seeing an estimate of billing for how much the actual project costs 'cause I'm interested to see if I've saved money by doing this versus reaching out to an HVAC company directly. I also want to know if any damage that's caused by the thing that I've created the claim for will also be covered. So what essentially happened was we had a leak in our air conditioning unit but that leak got into our wooden floors that we had to have replaced. Other than that, it was very good. I highly recommend them.

    I've been a customer of American Home Shield for a long time and they have sent out some shady people. The tech for my dishwasher just wanted to know my personal life and was not focused on the problem I had. I came to find out that he didn't even know how to fix the problem and AHS and I had to get the issue referred to another company. It took a month and a half to get my dishwasher fixed that time. It is still not fixed and for three years, I've been calling AHS up for it and nobody can fix it. Their contractors keep replacing parts. Then I would have to wait until I have $75 again to call AHS. I'm dealing with it and washing dishes by hand.

    That tech came out again for my refrigerator. That claim got referred to another company again because the tech didn't know how to fix my issue either. He was telling me about some weird Freon insulation that goes around the fridge. The tech from the next company said that he didn't even know what the previous tech was talking about. He fixed my problem in 10 minutes. I don't want the first company in my house again.

    Most recently, American Home Shield's tech from Pipe Solutions came to our place. Things were fantastic. The tech was on time. He was a kind and courteous gentleman and he had a mask on. He explained everything, fixed the problem and did a great job. In the 10 years I've been with AHS, they have been great. Their contractors usually contact me within 24 to 48 hours and get my problems fixed within the week. I have saved a lot of money on replacing things because I've just had to pay my fees every month and the fee for the service call. I'm very happy with AHS.

    My tenant called me and said that the air conditioner was not working. I called the American Home Shield and they contacted the local provider quickly. The company called me and said that they were gonna go take a look at it and asked if I would meet them out there. I went out there and met the guy. He came out promptly. Then he went in and he told me what was wrong with it. He said we needed a compressor and a computer board but the factories were not producing them. But he said he was gonna do something about it. A couple of days went by and I called, and they said, “Well, they have to order the compressor.” Home Shield has to get it from a warehouse. Then I called the contractor and he said it would take a couple of days. So getting the part was the challenge and it took about a week to fix the air conditioner. But so far, so good.

    Submitting the claim was pretty easy and pretty straightforward. You just go online or call them. Overall, my experience has been okay, but I'm living here in Texas where air conditioning is like a life support system. When I call them and say that my compressor went out, it shouldn't take a week to do. I’d get it done the same day. If I was running Home Shield, I would offer a business owners package or an expedited package. They could get real estate property owners to give an extra $20 a month to get the claim expedited. Business owners are a different type of consumer because they're investment minded. They believe in extending money, in order to get a return or avoid cost at a later date. It is just like when we pay 100 bucks to call the guy out there.

    Home Shield did tell me upfront about the turn up fee for the tech to come and I agreed to it. I don't mind paying 100 bucks. But then if something's really wrong, like $4,000 or $5,000 wrong, I'll spend $100 to get all that paid for. I'm glad I bought the plan. It paid for itself. It works. Who would have thought that the moment I bought it, the next day I'd have something like that go on. Overall, they've been a good quality company. They answered the phone and they returned emails. I look forward to doing business with them.

    My duct system disconnected from my HVAC and there was water, dew steam, and all kinds of crazy stuff. American Home Shield's contractor, Comfort First Heating & Cooling came and looked at my issue. The techs advised me that I would need a whole new system. I'm working to try to get some kind of financing for that with Home Shield. I just lost my job so my credit score is not gonna make it. I'm not thrilled because AHS said they wouldn't cover the ductwork when it's the HVAC system that caused my ductwork to get messed up anyway. I tried to call them back and they hung up on me.

    An electrical switch broke. I called American Home Shield, and the contractor came out and fixed it the next day. They cleaned up after themselves, and the light switch is working now. American Home Shield's phone thing is ridiculous, so I do my claims online. You stay on the phone forever.

    It seems like everything is going fine. The guys came in, did their job, cleaned up, and left. Very professional. They fixed it. The part took a couple of days, but that goes with the territory. Everything was good. When the tech from Indoor Comfort Experts first came out, there was water standing in my yard and something was stopped up dealing with the air conditioner. Then right after he fixed that, the air conditioner was working fine. Everything was. The water was dried up around my house. And then the air conditioner stopped working. It wouldn't come on at all. He had to come back out and he said something was wrong with the electrical board in it.

    I did some troubleshooting. I went outside and flipped the breaker, but that didn't work. I went and turned it off, and I turned it back on. That didn't work, so then I called Home Shield back out. Then that was when they told me that it was something wrong with the electrical board up inside the attic. And then they said they had to order a part. And a part had to be shipped. When the part came in, Indoor Comfort Experts called me and said it was in and they came back and fixed it.

    The display on our stove wasn't showing anything. It worked, but we couldn't tell what we were doing, such as with the timer. We got the home warranty and they had it checked out. The control board was shot and the contractors couldn't find a replacement for it and submitted it to American Home Shield. They decided to replace the stove in the range and it's on order, but we're still waiting. That was our first claim and we're a little concerned at how long it's taking.

    It's been about a couple weeks since the last confirmation that the unit was ordered, and I was hoping it would be here by now. With the COVID, the laws are a little tighter and shipping is longer. All in all, American Home Shield is responsive and they are professional when you reach them on the phone. There's a long wait to talk to somebody, otherwise, they handle the problem. When you submit the claim for the initial evaluation, the local folks come right out. There's no problem at all with it. However, when there's a decision to make about whether to get the part or repair it or replace it, then it gets bogged down.

    We had a plumbing issue where our water heater would stop making hot water. Then it came to a point where it completely stopped making hot water. Once the contractors got here, it was fine. But it took them four days to call and that was quite a while. But they came right away. They looked at it and then they gave me an estimate, $600, which was quite a lot. So I had to think about it for a few days. Then once I made a decision, I called them and they came out the next day. They were really fast about that, once I made a decision. That was my second claim within a week. The other job, the contractor called right away. If AHS has the leverage to make sure that these people call within a day or two, that would be better. It's also tough to get through on the phone to AHS. It's always a half an hour to an hour of wait unless you call at night.

    Plumbers Inc. came out for our AC unit and everything went fine. They came out when they scheduled the appointment and gave me a text message as far as where the technician was before they arrived. They arrived on time and the repairs were done. They communicated with my husband all of the work that would be necessary to complete the service or to have the unit running again. The technician was able to successfully have our unit come back on. He also had a mask on and there was social distancing.

    I'm feeling okay about my service in general with American Home Shield but I was a little disappointed in one of the service calls I had with my stove. American Home Shield approved another technician to come out and look at the stove but he pretty much said the same thing as the first technician did. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. It made me think, “Okay, so everybody's in on it.” The issue is that we bought the house less than four years ago and the reason why the repair couldn't be done was excessive use. My husband ended up fixing that stove issue. The other two events I had with American Home Shield were great.

    Our house was built in 2006 and we bought it in 2017. Within that time frame, the home warranty has been beneficial. I recommend it to friends and families, especially when they don't buy a new home. We don't use the home warranty a whole lot, which is a good thing. We don't have a lot of issues with our home but I like just knowing that we pay the cost if something does happen. But I wish American Home Shield offered some sort of discount if you didn't use their service. That would be helpful because that would be another perk to keep it. When everyone's looking at their budget and they start looking at things that they can maybe do without for a while, the would warranty would be on the list.

    I used to call in for my claims years ago, before they had the website. Now, I do it straight online and it's easy. I did a claim for the stovetop range for the oven and the technician troubleshot a couple circuit boards that needed to be swapped out. I’m still waiting on parts, but it went good. I’ve had American Home Shield for years. The only problem I have is we pay for these higher end appliances and if they go bad and they can't be fixed, they do not replace it with something equal to it. We pay the money up front initially and we pay the premiums, so we expect to get something equivalent in return.

    Our refrigerator went out on July 2nd and a new one was just delivered last week. At first, American Home Shield sent out somebody who didn't know what he was doing. He put a new compressor in and the compressor failed again. That was what failed the first time. Then that guy refused to come out and look at it. They sent somebody else who said, "You need a new one." But we didn't have a refrigerator from July 2nd and September 17th was when we got a new refrigerator. So all the time, I didn't have a refrigerator.

    The first contractor was fine. He just didn't know what he was doing. The second one was fine. He realized the refrigerator couldn't be saved and he let American Home Shield know. But I told them that it couldn't be saved when it first went out. They said, "Well, we'll send somebody out." I was looking and the first contractor said it was the compressor. I said, "Well, I've heard some horror stories about Samsung and compressors." He said, " I'm gonna order a compressor" because that's money for him. He put the new compressor in and everything was working fine. I was shopping again and filled it up with food, and then I lost all that food for the second time.

    American Home Shield really likes to go the cheap route until they realize that cheap routes are not gonna work. Now, they just spent eight and change to put into compression, and they gotta buy me a new refrigerator. Sometimes, they just don't like to listen. As far as the refrigerator, it's brand-new. It's working fine. I went ahead and I paid for it first, and then the check came. You gotta show that you did actually buy a refrigerator before you can get reimbursed for it.

    I've been dealing with American Home Shield since 1990. It's hit and miss. They're great about some things, but other things, they just go a roundabout way of doing it, especially with big ticket items like air conditioning and refrigerators. You kinda get taken around the mulberry bush but that's pretty much with almost any insurance company. They like to take your money, but they're not so good when they have to give it out. Buyer beware.

    If I could give American Home Shield 0 stars, I would. We have had AHS for several years now, but in the past 2 years, their service has gone downhill significantly. Our most recent issue began on 6/22/20 when we contacted AHS regarding a plumbing leak. The initial contact from the plumbing company was great and we thought all was well until a week after the repair when we noted the leak had begun again on 6/29/20. We called AHS for a recall, and this recall was submitted. The plumber came out on 7/3/20 and had to cut a hole in our ceiling to get a better look at the leak. Plumber stated he needed further guidance to repair the leak from AHS and would be in touch. That's when the problems began.

    The plumber states he forwarded the diagnosis to AHS and requested permission to cut into the bathroom vanity to repair the leak. AHS claims they never received a diagnosis from the plumber and report multiple attempts to get information from the plumber without success... plumber claims AHS has never called. After weeks of going around and around, we requested a second plumber come out. AHS agreed and sent another plumber out. The second plumber was unable to find the leak the first plumber stated we had and referred us back to AHS and the first plumber. We called AHS back several times and got no resolution. AHS stated they would send the first plumber back out and then never did. AHS finally agreed to repair the hole in our ceiling on 9/3/20 and sent a request to a local contractor; however, we did not hear from that contractor and had to call AHS back multiple times in regard to this request.

    On 9/15/20, AHS finally had the contractor contact us and arrange to make the repair in our ceiling. The contractor advised AHS had initially sent the request but then recalled it, which is why the contractor had not responded earlier. We finally got the hole in our ceiling fixed, but no additional plumbing assessment was completed as per our request and the initial plumber's request. We called AHS several times and the representatives would always say they would follow up and give us a call back, but never would. AHS has poor customer service, does not follow their contract guidelines, and treats customers poorly. I would not recommend using AHS for home warranty services and would recommend researching other home warranty companies.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost 5 years. This is my third review because I don’t want to post only negative reviews. I called them last week for my washer. It wasn’t agitating and the spin cycle would not work. Immediately when I put the work order in I was assigned a contractor. It was a week before they came out but it was fixed in less than an hour.     We had this warranty for over ten years. When our very old air conditioner finally broke and the only solution was to replace or add freon, they agreed to pay $20 out of a $400 bill of freon but nothing towards replacement. Since the old freon used in our unit is no longer in accordance with building codes we asked for a replacement. They continued to decline. We then decided to pay for a new one and to discontinue their service. We tried several times to cancel the service over the phone unsuccessfully. We were put in very long waits of over 30 min, and hanged up because we needed to work. So we stopped the automatic payment.

    A month later we started to received email warnings about our unpaid bills. Worried about the outcome, we persevered on the phone attempting to reach someone in the customer service. We finally reached a person who transferred us to someone else, who transferred us to a third person, and every time we had to wait over 20 mins. When we were finally got to someone who could actually cancel our account, we were told we needed to pay $60 of discontinuing fee. Yes, we needed to pay to end our account.

He did his job. American Home Shield is great. It's been a lifesaver. I just wish they keep the same contract number every time I renew.     The first time the CMR Ventures guy came, he said he had to order the part. The part came in and the next time he came in, he didn't have the boot things on. He went into my basement and he messed up my carpet with black marks with the black boots he had on. And he said the furnace was fixed and he left but there was no air condition. I called them back and he checked it again. He said he left a wire unattached on the furnace that's why we couldn't get heat. But that wasn't the problem because he still didn't fix it right. I was really frustrated.

    I was ready to get rid of American Home Shield then. I felt that under the contract, it says that it's a 24-hour service but the company they sent only worked Monday through Friday. They were off at 5 o'clock and they didn't work the weekends so when I called back, I had to wait three or four days to get them back. When the AC broke, I had to wait about four or five days for the contractor to come out here from me calling in. I really was disappointed in them.

    The third guy that came out was sent by his supervisor with the cleaners to clean my carpet. He got his things on, so I was happy. But he left and it still wasn't fixed. The heat wasn't working. The third time I called them back was on the weekend. The guy came out on Friday that I asked to send a supervisor or a senior person. I didn't want that same guy anymore. But they couldn't come out until that following Monday. I had no heat during that weekend and it started getting cold. Then, the supervisor came out and he took care of the problem. He came in well prepared and with the boot shields on his feet. It took him all of good 10 minutes and he found out what the problem was. He was very professional and I was happy. It ended up finally working out fine and I haven't had any problems since.

    We have three air conditioners but one wasn't working. I phoned American Home Shield and asked for somebody to come and take a look at it. A technician came out and it was one of the circuits that he said was fried. He did a temporary fix which probably wasn't safe and he left. He said he ordered the part and he’d replace it. A couple of days later, we phoned the company. They said it was fixed. About three or four days later, the air conditioner went again because the fix didn’t hold. We phoned and made another claim.

    This is where it gets a bit confusing. About two years ago, I phoned American Home Shield that I wanted my contract sent out but I gave my neighbor's address across the street. So the contractor went across the street and they wouldn't come over to our house. They said I had to make another claim. The contractor couldn't come out till the following Tuesday which was five days later. With a 112-degree weather, the lady at the house couldn't handle it anymore. She went and called another air conditioning company and they came out. They charged almost $700. They said because the first guy screwed up the panel, they had to fix that and we had to pay for it.

    I have no problem placing a claim with American Home Shield. They were pretty good. When I phoned them the second time, I complained about the air conditioner guy. They were gonna report it back. They said that shouldn't have happened. He shouldn't have said it was a temporary fix then closed it. Overall, American Home Shield has some good people. My experience in dealing with American Home Shield was good but I was very unhappy with the company that was sent out or the technician and that I had to hire an outside source to fix the problem.

    We were with Sears, but Sears was closing up shop locally here in our area. We shopped around and thought American Home Shield was rated well. We thought, “Let's just go with them.” We got an offer to have the heating system checked for $75 so, we went ahead and signed up for that. Then for some reason, it was put, “This is what's going to happen on your AC check.” I ignored that because they sent another email about, “This is what's happening on your heating check.” Then there was a follow-up, like, “This is what's happening on your heating check.”

    The representative came out on the 24th. He checked the heating and he found a cracked heat exchange in our furnace that's downstairs in our basement. The heat pump checked out okay for the upper level of the house. But he said that carbon monoxide could be leaking, but we have not turned on our heat yet this year. He said, “You're gonna have to call American Home Shield to set up an appointment.” I spoke to someone with AHS and they said that they would contact the heating company.

    We got an email on the 26th when I had spoken to the representative, and it said, “Good news. The heating guy is coming out on the 24th.” I thought, “This is weird. That’s when he first came out.” I sent an email back, “Do you wanna check this date? Because it's wrong. That's the original time that the technician came out, it was the 24th.”

    I called this morning and I used the automated system to see the status of the work order. It said that it was in progress. In other words, it's in the system. I also haven't gotten any emails, which were usually really prompt. I called the heating company and they said, “We don't have that work order. You're gonna have to contact American Home Shield.”

    I got on the phone and I talked to a really sweet representative of AHS. She took down all the information and then she said, “Okay, we will contact the heating company to get this thing going again.” We were comfortable with the rep that came out, his name was Nick. He just said, “When you do set it up, you can get me back out here again, the same company.” I was like, “Yeah, fine.”

    They were very good about answering the phone. It was just I initially had my hair on fire, like Carbon monoxide, we don't need this. So, we wanna get that addressed. I don't have any issues. So far, we've only used American Home Shield when the freezer was not making ice and there was no problem, that was solved. Both times when we had somebody come out, the contractors were very professional and came right on time. The original window of service was 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. They came before 9 o'clock in the morning, so we couldn't complain about that. Everyone I've spoken to at AHS has been very polite, very professional and they take their time as well. No one's been rude. I know that this heating thing is gonna be addressed.

    I'm a little distraught that I pay American Home Shield every year but then every time I do it all on a request, I gotta pay them more money. Then, I gotta pay them more money for every time I do something different. It shouldn't be that way. With my pool claim, the pool contractor came out and said he didn't know. He dipped a little stick in my pool and didn't do anything. Then, he told me my filtering system was not on my pool contract, and I'm trying to figure out why it's not there. Then he charged me $125. In person, the hold is impeccably long, and a lot of times, the person I'm talking to is not knowledgeable about what I'm talking about. I started with American Home Shield several months ago. It was easy to submit a claim with AHS. American Home Shield is doing better than they were when I was dealing with them years ago. I'm happy with my experience with American Home Shield. Recently, the contractor came out and he checked the system of my AC. One of my systems was not working. He added Freon and I paid him for the Freon. He seemed to do a good job and he also put something in the system to stop the leak. Hopefully, it stopped it.

    ACE Heating and Cooling seemed like a good company and I've had them out twice, but we didn't get to do anything. They couldn't install the parts ‘cause I had a roof soffit and there was no room. A roof truss is blocking anyone from being able to install the proper air conditioning outlet vent. The two options are that the roof support could be moved, which they said they're not authorized to do, or I could just seal it up and not have that air conditioning vent anymore. The issue was unresolvable. I had American Home Shield a decade ago as well and I worked it into the negotiation when I bought my house. I place the repair requests online and the appointment is scheduled the next morning.

    I had my dad cleaning out my AC unit and he said that there was a wire burned inside. So, my dad told me to go ahead and have someone come and look at it. I did the claim online to American Home Shield and the website was very easy to navigate. It said that I would get a call within 24 hours but then it also gave me the option to call on my own to schedule my own appointment. So, I called right away.

    The service provided by Doctor Cool was great. The guy was very helpful and respectful of the property, so that was good. He was also very fast and he called me 20 minutes before he came and told me he was on his way. And then, he was here within that time. He replaced the wire that my dad saw that was burned. He told me that the AC unit is old and that he could see that it’s struggling. But we couldn't do anything about it until it breaks. So, he told me to submit a new claim whenever it breaks and then, we can figure it out. It was a good experience with AHS. We've only been in this house for two and a half years but before that, the lady before us had AHS and she gave us the claim. So, this house has been with them for the whole 12 years that it's been built.

    The microwave blew and the icemaker on the refrigerator was freezing up to where the ice would get all stuck in it. It listed the contractor’s number. Complete Home Solution was professional. There was a delay but it was understandable. The guy was good. He did a minor mistake but that was because we were trying to leave and he ended up rushing through the job. So, it was no big deal. He came out and made it right.     In calling American Home Shield because of my microwave, there was a very long hold time because of COVID. They had limited representatives. They took the claim but the microwave wasn't covered. The tech who came was very nice and knowledgeable. Fortunately, he told me that the microwave was covered under Whirlpool, the manufacturer. They replaced the unit.

    The people that have come to the home have always been good. But getting a claim started with American Home Shield was sometimes difficult. The hold time to speak to a representative when you don't use the automated system to file a claim is long. They provide the option of them calling you back though. I tried to get them to call me back once but I never received a call. Otherwise, our overall experience with the company has been positive. It's a good buy for my money.

    My garage door opener wasn't working. American Home Shield's contractor from Derby Overhead had to come out three different times for me. The techs initially thought they had my door working. They left but it still wasn't working. Derby Overhead came back out and the second tech was a bid temped. He fixed something and it still quit working afterward. AHS finally replaced my garage door opener.

    Previously, I had a claim involving my oven not heating properly. It wasn't coming on nor staying on. When I go to heat it, it would go off on me. I had an appliance repairman come and he got lippy with me. He told me the range would never be replaced and that it had a design flaw as I had the model with a double oven with a divider in it. He told me I was gonna have to take out my double oven divider and use it as a single oven to get things to work properly. I looked my issue up on the internet and I didn't see anything about design flaws with my range. I called Home Shield and they got me different techs which I ended up using.

    When the tech told me that my oven would never be replaced, that freaked me out because why would a tech doing work for AHS say that something would never be replaced when it says in my contract that if something is not repairable, it's replaceable. That really frustrated and upset me. The contractor sent by AHS came and put a new temp sensor in my oven. The process took about three weeks because I had to wait on parts and the contractor had to schedule me back in. Other than that, I was happy with the new techs they sent out. I'm satisfied with my AHS warranty.

    I was notified by the city that I had a water leak that couldn't be found. After research on the property, we found out that it was a water line from my house to the road. So After Work Plumbing came out to check my house to see if any leak was around my house anywhere and it wasn't. They did what they were supposed to do.     There’s a claim lying with American Home Shield in the last three months. The exhaust on the canopy on the top of the stove range didn't work. The technician came and said that there’s no part. It’s still on a pending status. The technician mentioned that it needs to be replaced. I called them and they said that they needed to get approval and that they would call me back. My tenant and I submitted the claims and the technicians visited three times. They were friendly and good but I’m very unhappy. AHS assigned Sears and then Sears didn't do anything.

    I also had some bad experiences with my AC repair. The companies that worked with AHS were very bad. They didn’t do a good job because I ended up paying $6,000. AHS paid me $450. The estimation was bad. AHS is not as realistic as the problem because sometimes the problem could not figure out. Sometimes even if the problem figures out, they want to cut short the claim. They don't want to fix the issue and they don’t want to do a reasonable accommodation for the customer. I have two plans with AHS and I’m planning to cancel those.

    The claims with AHS are very easy to get going. But getting ahold of somebody is a whole different story. I can submit a claim online pretty easily but if I call because I have a question, I might as well expect to wait at least 50 minutes on the line. That's normal and that's one of the biggest problems. When I ask them why I'm waiting online so long, I'm always told that they don't have as many people working now because of COVID. Other than that, the technicians that I've had so far are good. But I had one on the washing machine and didn't seem like he really knew what he was doing, so we ended up replacing the washing machine. But that was cool.

    My overall experience with American Home Shield has been good, but aside from the wait time if you need to talk to customer service, it's disturbing that there's no escalation and you can't speak to a supervisor. When I had a problem with my dryer, the technician who came out to fix it ordered a part, then he came out and put it in but it wasn't fixed. I was out a dryer for a month and half, which was way too long a time to escalate it, and I ended up replacing the dryer. Every time I called AHS they would put me on hold and say they'd escalate it, but nobody ever showed up online and I was never put in touch with anybody.

    When submitting claims, I can just do it on my phone online and click a button to request it. The customer service reps were helpful and it was easy to request a service. There can just be delays with the scheduling for the actual vendor they're connecting me with. On a recent service call, they actually nixed because I ended up realizing it wasn't covered with my warranty. It was more than a day, and the vendor they connected me with hadn't even reached out to schedule. That would be my only gripe with them. I'd be concerned if there's something urgent I need to get addressed, and not able to connect with the vendor or get it scheduled in a timely manner.

    But on a previous service call for service request, I contacted the vendor right away and scheduled it. The vendor scheduled a week out where it wasn't an urgent matter and I said okay if that’s when the earliest they could come. But then I ended up connecting with American Home Shield and they said that it was beyond their service level agreement and that the vendor needed to be out sooner. They went ahead and scheduled somebody from a different vendor, Loyalty Home Services, out sooner, which was nice.

    Our electricity was acting weird. I needed to call an electrician to come out to repair the meter box. I called American Home Shield to file a claim to let them know what had happened and that I needed someone to come out to fix it. They told me that it usually takes up to 24 hours for the contractor to come out. But since it was the electricity, they said that they would try to get someone out as soon as possible. When the tech came, he explained everything. He let us know what has to be done and he fixed it. There are four sockets and one of them had blown out. So that needed to be replaced. He's been over his work, even though I didn't know what he was talking about, but he was good.

    I had to go down to the Building Department of Bakersfield and when I got there, I didn’t know that we have to pay an extra $100 fee for someone to come out to inspect the box before anything is done to the electrical panel. They told me that I needed to file a claim against American Home Shield because that should have been discussed before the file was even claimed and the contractor that they sent out should have known that also.

    My power had gone out in one of my rooms. Sunbelt Electric came over and checked to see what was going on. It was an outlet. They thought they had to do more, but then, it was just like a breaker shortage in the wire. A week or so or maybe less, they came back and got everything fixed for us. Everything is working well and the power is good and on in those two rooms. Then we are still in the process of our claim for our washer where the water was not draining off of the clothes right, so everything was still wet when it was done washing.     We were having issues with the electrical socket on my wall for the stove. The electrician sent by American Home Shield fixed it and while he was here, we figured out that we might as well get him to do the fan. It's a studio fan and it's so far up. We can't pull the string on it. Then he said that he was scared of heights. I asked him if he knew and we’d pay someone outside the contract even though we didn’t have to. But he said no. So if we ever need an electrician down the road, AHS should send one that's not scared of heights. We had gotten another fan and we needed it replaced, and the electrician couldn't do it because he said that he was scared of heights. I don't want anybody that’s scared of heights and can't even get that done. In order to get it done, we'll have to submit another $100 again which doesn't make sense.

    Water was leaking from the freezer and it was freezing on the bottom, so I couldn't close the door. I submitted a claim with AHS and the tech they sent out took one of the coils out. He told me what he was doing and he either cleaned it out or adjusted it to where it would let the ice go through there and work properly. All in all, I've had really good experience with AHS and I've found that they're a very good company. But they're so high priced. My sister has coverage elsewhere and she was it was good coverage but is $300 less. And now, I'm considering which way to go. Other than that, anyone who's thinking of getting a home warranty must be careful to read and ascertain what appliances are covered because not everything is covered.

    Two of my friends have American Home Shield and they haven't had any issues. I went with AHS as well and the contractors have been very quick and efficient. For my last claim though, there was a lack of communication with the contractor that came out. My shower's tiling was not sealed where the shower is. So, water started dripping down to the second floor of my place and my ceiling got stained. There is now a crack going across where my stairs are. The contractor, 5 Star Quality, told me that they were gonna finish a write-up and send it to American Home Shield because there was some more work that needed to be done. Two weeks went by and I finally had to call AHS because nobody had contacted me. When I reached out to AHS, the reps said they didn't see any write-up. They contacted 5 Star who then said they will finish the report. I don't want any more permanent water damage to my place.

    Water was leaking from an inside unit of ours. When I submitted a claim for the issue online to American Home Shield, things were easy. It took them three days to get a contractor out. I was fine with that timeframe as their contractor from A+ Maintenance could have had several other projects. In the meantime, we put buckets where the leak was. We tried calling their tech back though 'cause after the first day, he told us that he would try to get out of his project the next morning. Regardless, the repair went well. The guy from Central Jersey Heating & Cooling called me in the morning and he came. He knew it was urgent.     The guy was great. He was very polite. Each time he came, he always asked, “How are you doing?” I had one come in who didn’t say good morning, nothing. He just came in and had a real bad attitude. I had to call American Home Shield to get them to come back out but he didn't wanna come back out. He told me he was gonna be here and it was going on almost four o'clock. He left parts in the oven. The other guy came in and found them. He was very courteous.     I've had American Home Shield before in the other homes that I've had and this time, I've been with them for four years. The most recent claim that I had was for my sink. It had a leak in the kitchen and First Response Plumbing came out. The plumber was professional, quick and took care of the problem that was created by the last one who came out. I had someone else come out prior and they had used a zip tie instead of going and getting a proper part for the sink, which I'm not knowledgeable. I'm not a plumber and I didn't know if there's a reason for it or not, but I've never seen zip ties used in plumbing before like that.

    With the COVID, a lot of people are running slow with their calls and there’s a lot of wait time. So, it makes it a little bit better when the reps do call back and not just keep you on hold. I understand a lot of them are at home making these calls and return calls on customer service. I was drowned out a little bit by one of them who had chickens in the background, which is fine. I like seeing people being able to work from home. People may not be able to have a job and this gives them the opportunity, which is great. But it would have been a little bit better if they could go into another room where it's not competition for the roosters. Other than that, the time period of keeping people waiting on the phone was much better. Also this time, I noticed they have gotten more companies for the areas.

    I live in the country and so, it makes it a lot nicer having more American-speaking people that you can understand. I'm not a prejudiced person but I'm fed up with not being able to understand and for them to understand me. That's very aggravating to me. Having AHS call me back and doing a follow-up was nice and having another company that they can rely on. They had first mentioned the company who had messed up the last time and never did close out that report. They can close all the invoices out because everything's been taken care of. They didn't close out the invoice for July for some reason and I took care of it myself. But I'm satisfied all the way around with AHS. I've recommended to friends that are buying a home to be sure that they get that warranty with them. I went ahead and kept it because I'm a widow and as I get older, it's well worth it to me. You should not be without it.

    My claim was handled well. The hold time to connect to a representative was over two hours though. I thought it was a joke when my sister told me that she held that long, but when I had to do it, it was lengthy. American Home Shield is gonna have to get some more customer service to answer the phone ‘cause I never have held that long to have service with them. This is the first time it has happened.

    My compressor went out and it didn't give me a warning. The service was gonna be a week and a half and the people who were doing the service work at first, she said, “Call back and see if they could get somebody sooner.” She took time to look and look and then the guy who came was very good.     American Home Shield is a good service. I like it. I put in claims for the ceiling fan, the microwave, the dryer and the doorbell. I went online then I clicked everything that applied to what I needed done. The person in the office called, confirmed, and told me when they were coming out. Then they texted me, called me and let me know before they came out. However, they sent someone out for my garage door who said that they couldn't fix that but I still had to pay their $100 for them to come out. I got somebody else to fix it which cost me $500 but they didn’t refund me my $100 back. Also, I'm still waiting on their contractor to come back and fix my microwave. That's been about two months now. They said American Home Shield had to order the part. I'm still waiting on that, but I don't have no grief about it.

    First of all, I had to set up to pay monthly out of my account. It did it one month, but it didn't do it the next month. It did it the following month again and then didn't do it this month. I don't know when the payment comes out and when it doesn't. I just got a bill for two months in the mail and I'm going to take care of that because the last thing I need is for that to lapse.

    This is the first time I've used AHS with this purchase of my house. Everything that I've experienced with it, so far, has been okay. The job eventually gets done, but there's some delay. That sucks, especially when your AC goes out in 100-plus-degree weather and you gotta wait for somebody to call you back. American Home Shield takes your money immediately, but then you're at the mercy of somebody calling you back saying, "This is who's gonna be calling you." Then you gotta wait for them to call you to set an appointment, so it could go days. The last few times, it's happened to me on a Saturday to where the contractor couldn't even come out and fix my unit till the next Thursday.

    There's definitely room to improve on the timing and closing the gap on when the claim gets processed. Also, there have been three or four times they've come out to my house for the AC and I paid $75 every time. They fixed something last time. What I worry about is if the units are 20-plus something years old and they continue to break down, I don't want that after this is all said and done, I gotta pay $15,000 to replace two units.

    I like the way that American Home Shield does the photo thing where I get on my phone and I can show them the issue on the phone. Plus, they send it to the repair guys to get an idea ahead of time. When my washing machine went out, the guy I talked to at American Home Shield sent me a link that went to my phone. Then when I clicked on the link, he called me and we were able to do a video call and I showed him exactly what was going on with the washing machine. He thought that there was a problem with the switches.

    When the tech got here, that was what it turned out to be. So, the tech was only here for 15 minutes at the most and was going to give it a new switch. It's working now. Overall, everything is going good with American Home Shield. I only had to use them that one time but everything worked out fine. The technology that they used made it very quick and simple. So, I was very happy. But I did notice that the amount jumped up than when I recently started with.

    I would recommend City First just with the home warranty or without because the guy fixed my breaker. He explained to me what was going on. He made me feel comfortable. He kept his face mask on and kept his distance. Even when I had to come closer so he could explain, he had his proper PPE on. He did a good job. He was just amazing.

    The guy before that with the AC company, they need to fire him. He was horrible. But I'm so grateful that Home Shield brought the electrician out here because he recommended to have the AC company to come back. I have solar panels. For some reason, it did a little surge, and the AC popped back on. It burnt the whole breaker out which was why my AC went out. But the AC company guy knew that. He just couldn't explain that to me. He's very rude. Just the way he came to my house and the way he treated me, it was horrible. That company was Advanced Air Heating & Cooling. I called them to make a complaint, to tell them, "Hey, I appreciate the customer service." But it's a family business, so they didn't care at all.

    Sometimes I get used to hit-and-miss, but I understand the business. It's not Home Shield because if I call them and say I'm having the issues, they will go ahead and send somebody right then and try to fix it. The turnaround period is very quick. But the company, never again. Sometimes we would get some of these warranty companies that's not as good and then we have to call Home Shield. I have recommended Home Shield to some of my friends and colleagues.

    I have done my claims with American Home Shield both on a web browser on a PC and on my phone. When you go on the website, you have a list of dropdowns. I might call customer service when that list of dropdowns doesn't necessarily reflect my current issue. What I need from American Home Shield is to know if something is covered especially if it's a little bit more of an ambiguous request, and the other is understanding. It's to make sure that they know that when the tech comes out, that person would have a good idea of what's going on. I feel like when I call the line, they are just doing those check down boxes and they don't have any additional insight to help me with. There is a box online for an explanation but I found that it's more successful when the subcontractor calls you.

    What's tough about American Home Shield is whenever you submit a claim, the subcontractor comes out, assesses, then sets up for a recall. We had a washing machine call when we came back in the summer. It took almost five weeks for them to get the right diagnosis. I told them originally what the diagnosis was but they had a guy come out and say it was a different diagnosis. Another guy came out and he fixed it but it didn't work. The other guy that came out said it was actually the original diagnosis. They then had to order the part.

    I also had a a leaky pipe and it was pretty simple for a plumbing company. But it took another four or five days for them to put me on the actual schedule to fix the issue. They had to come out to take a look. They were much quicker this time though. But I wish it would be easier to get the companies out and have them handle the little things. I get that companies don't want to put any money out for parts that are incorrect because they would be stuck with that. But I look at American Home Shield and be like, "There's gotta be a better way to work with your contractors to do this." It's just a little thing but that has been consistent for all of our calls.

    Other than that, for the recent plumbing claim where PHD Mechanical came out because the discharge line of the dishwasher was leaking, they replaced the piping and they were awesome. And although they didn't vacuum up the PVC Piping, I was okay with doing a little bit of that clean-up for the level of service I got from them.

    Best Care Home Services did a great job. They actually read what I put in my trouble ticket request because they came to the front door with the equipment they needed to do the repair.     The lights on the ceiling fan would work but the fan went out completely. I did the claim online and there was a delay in the contractor coming out because American Home Shield’s system didn't put the claim in when I called. So I had to call back. The claim was submitted but there was a glitch in the system. It took almost a little over a week for them to get in contact with the contractor. If I wouldn't have called back, then I would still be waiting for someone to come out and fix the fan.     When you call American Home Shield, they're very quick to respond and they connect you with the right company. That is good and I like that. Recently, I called them for someone to check my air conditioner. The process was great. They immediately found a company and scheduled the appointment. The guy came but I'm not sure if he did good work because I don't feel like cold air is coming. He was not here long. We did change the filter but I don't think he checked the air if it's the right way of the combination of thermostat and my air conditioner. I don't think the thermostat is a good one. He didn't tell me anything about that. I also don't feel like cool air is going through. I have warm air blowing. It probably needs more time to start and check if it's blowing the right air. I felt that I needed more advice from the technician and that he should have checked everything. Home Depot sends in a person for $49 and they do a complete tune up for that money.

    AHS is difficult to reach. I can only reach them in off hours, before 9:00 and after 7:00 at night. Aside from that, you have to wait 30 minutes, and they've told me as long as 60 minutes, to reach any person to talk to. Plus, they really want me to go online, put in my request, and follow it up that way. It's the COVID thing they say and that they have difficulty communicating with people, so they just really want them to go online or wait on the phone for a long time or call after hours.

    Right now, I have a plumbing problem that still has not been resolved. They couldn't find someone to take care of it, so they gave me the official okay to find my plumber to take care of it. They gave me a long list of 12 or so plumbers that I should not call because they won't approve them, and since I'm a property manager, I have someone we already use and he's the one that I chose to come out. I've paid AHS the $100 and their rep called the plumber to tell them what the problem was and how much it would cost, then they would approve or disapprove it. But we haven't gotten that far yet because the plumber's been called, but he hasn't come out yet.

    The Appliance Guys did great. They were timely, efficient and they helped me. They wore masks and kept 6 feet distance. They repaired the problem. They did what they were supposed to do. The appliance had a leak, so the motor had to be replaced. We saw the leak coming into our kitchen floor, so we had to report it to American Home Shield. We did it online because we could not get through American Home Shield via the phone. Everything was done promptly.

    I had an issue with American Home Shield though. When I do renew, I probably will renew with a different company. I've been put on hold for close to three hours, three or four times, where I've hung up. I have a couple of appliances that I wanna replace. They're not broken, but I wanna replace them. I've been told I can go through possibly American Home Shield and purchase from American Home Shield. I'm shopping around for prices, so I wanted to contact American Home Shield. I'm willing to pay whatever they are offering because they offer that. But I can't even get through to the appliance department.

    My dishwasher is 15 years old. Instead of repairing it, I said, "Can I get the money?" That was what I was led to believe when I signed up for American Home Shield. Instead of fixing it, I can just get the check that they would issue me in place of fixing it. Then I would go purchase my own dishwasher.     I had plumbing that was leaking and running all the time. I logged into Home Shield's website to submit a claim. It asked me a couple of questions and I filled out their form. Before I knew it, I was getting a phone call from their plumber to make sure that I knew that they were aware of me and that our appointment would be on a certain date. The tech, Jarrod, explained everything and had my problem fixed in no time.

    I know I'm at the mercy of AHS's contractor schedule. I had to wait a week to get a repair for this claim. I have another ongoing claim with them for my microwave and that is going on week two.     The transmitter that would start the machine died out. The tech from Metropolitan Heating & Air had to replace it. He had a mask on and he never came inside the house.     The condenser pipe was backing up. It was leaking then it started smelling. The guy had to replace the motor and the heater that pushes the air through the house. He was very good and very knowledgeable. I do have a complaint though. I tried reaching out to them and they haven't responded. I turned the air conditioner back on and it still leaked water. The bad thing is it backs up into my kitchen. I called to ask them to come back out and clean that pipe out. They won't return my phone call because he said he was done and I signed off because I didn't need the air conditioner. I'm not turning the air conditioner back on until spring. The air conditioner runs fine. It's just when it runs, all that cold air turns into vapor. They were supposed to go into this pipe and drain out of the house. But I'm satisfied with what they did because they had fixed the heater so I can use it.

    My recent claim with AHS went well. The water was not coming out of the sink good, in my master bath. The cold handle froze up too. It wasn't something that could be fixed. The contractors tried, but they couldn’t get it freed up. So, they replaced that. Then, my shower, what's inside the wall that let out a certain amount of cold and hot was malfunctioning. They had to replace that too. The contractors were good. I just wish I could have gotten a little bit nicer stuff. I would like to see better quality with the replacements.

    The AC was just recirculating warm air into our house. So, the cooling system was failing. I contacted American Home Shield and they recommended for my area to call Absolute Heating Cooling. They were very friendly, helpful and easy to understand on the telephone. To our pleasure, we were able to have someone out the next day. They gave us a four-hour window of arrival time and promised that he would call en route.

    The next day came and he called while en route and came at the earlier part of the window, which made us happy. He went out to the AC unit and did his thing. He had on his truck the part and he was able to immediately do a repair. Within an hour, he came in and confirmed it was repaired. He left the area clean where he worked. There was no evidence of him being there other than I can see a new part inside the AC unit that he replaced at the top and it’s been working ever since. So, it was a very positive experience from start to finish with AHS and with the private company they recommended. The experience was at and above expectation. They got it figured out and they're doing right.

    I submitted two recent claims to American Home Shield. One was for a clogged sink and bathtub, and the other one was for a locksmith to come out and change all the locks. Submitting the claims was easy on the phone. It was super simple. The contractors were fantastic. But the sink is still clogged. When I called the plumber to find out, he said that the only thing that was written on his work order was the bathtub. The sink was not written on the work order, even though I expressed the need for both. So, that was Home Shield's mistake. But the plumber did give me some suggestions on how to solve the problem myself. It helped a little bit. I have to go buy one of those plastic snakes and slide it down in the hole. I haven't done that yet. I'm fine with American Home Shield so far.

    American Home Shield has been a lifesaver because we had a lot of issues with our home when we moved in. It was our Realtor that recommended the home warranty and I couldn’t be happier. We’ve had a lot of calls for appliances, plumbing, and electrical issues. It would have been more stressful without the home warranty.

    They sent out J.E.T. Mobile Engineering for our AC unit. The contacted us the next day after we made the claim. A day after that, a tech came and he wore a mask throughout the whole time. Everything went fine although I had to call them back because they rearranged the pipework and it was leaking slightly. There was a clog and someone came out and unclogged it. But the tech did a bit of rearrangement with the pipework to make it easier for me to put chlorine on the drainpipe then down the drain line. They came back a couple of days later, rearranged it, and fixed it. Everything is fine now.

    I have a very old air conditioner and it wasn't very clean. I was concerned about the air circulation in my home with the fires so I needed it cleaned out. I went online and unfortunately, American Home Shield's online service doesn't allow for explanation of your request for service. It allows you to put in your request for service but they just assume that something's broken down and that's not the truth in every situation. When the guy arrived, he thought there was something wrong with my air conditioner. I said there was nothing wrong with it. It seemed to be working fine but I didn't think it was processing clean air into my home because it's so old and filthy.

    He got right to work and flushed it all out and told me about how you're supposed to do it from the inside out. Mine is not one where you can remove a lid. It doesn't have a filter. What you have to do is flush it from the inside to the top of it. He did a good job and cleaned it. You can tell from the outside of the air conditioner 'cause it's wire all the way around the outside. All that junk that was accumulated there is no longer there. Now, I feel more confident that I'm getting a cleaner process.

    Every time the washing machine would spin, it would get louder and louder. So, the bearing wore away. The contractor came out and tried to change the bearing but it was more than that. They had to change the whole drum. So, it took a little while for the parts to come in but they were excellent. They came in and did it all in one day. I'm satisfied.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for 7 years and a couple of things are not covered. I hate it when things that break down all the time are not covered. If my $3,000 refrigerator went, they would cover that but not the $150 ice machine. A couple of things happened with my garage door and I wasn't covered for, and it cost me more money than I wanted. Then just two weeks ago, my other garage door went and I had to fix it myself because it wouldn't have been covered. If it’s not the motor, you're out of luck. If the door’s off the track or you pop a wire or a spring breaks, that's not covered. And these are things that happen all the time. But it is what it is. I have an inground pool and they cover just about everything on that except electrical and anything underground. I like the pool coverage because that's another expensive item if it ever goes.

    AHS is a good deal. I got it because it had coverage on my air conditioner. If it goes, it’s gonna be $15,000 out of my pocket. So, I'm hoping they will step up to the plate when the time comes because it is getting old. I would recommend it. I had their competitor for a while and I didn’t like them. AHS is better than them. I figured it out now though, after all these years, that it's hard to get in touch with them during the day. It's impossible. You go on hold and it could be an hour or two. But when I call at 6:37 in the morning, I usually get through.

    We have used A Water Solution in the past. We like them. They're efficient. They come in. They don't try to scam you. They tell you what the issue is, and then they immediately act upon the repair or replacement. The tech came in with his shoe booties, and then he had his mask. Our garbage disposal just died. We’ve had it almost 10 years. The tech said that is the lifespan of them. He also shared some very good tips, that there are certain foods you should not put down your garbage disposal, even though it can chew it up because it sits in your drain. He said anything that you would put in a cup that would sink to the bottom of a cup, you should not put in your garbage disposal. The food goes down and then in that curve, so it sits in that little elbow.

    I've seen the little mesh in the store before. Thetech said to get those and put them in the sink versus the ones they give you in the sink with the bigger hose. I just picked up a couple. They were 5.99 in Marshalls or TJ Maxx. He said to put them in there because they would pick all that fine little food and stuff when you're washing your dishes. And then pinch it, put it in the trash. He said, “You wanna extend the life of your garbage disposal.” I told him, "You are so nice." He gave some pearls of wisdom, which we never knew. Most plumbers won't tell you that kinda stuff. We will request him whenever we have service for anything else.

    With Home Shield, sometimes, it's a long wait. I'm on my mother's account. She lives in Indianapolis because she's 82, so I handle her stuff. It's difficult because they have that where they want you to go to the web and use the phone app for scheduling stuff. Her microwave went out. They went out there and assessed it. It needed to be replaced or they will pay her out. I got the email this morning, went through what they act on to make sure the replacement would have been the same size as her other one. But to fill out the form, and then it asks for an agreement number, which I had to call and find out was the contract number. Why they call it an agreement on the form, I never know. That's annoying because they pushed us to use schedule via their phone or computer versus calling it in, and then the rep told me if I had submitted it, it may have been sitting there because they would never have received it.

    If you're one of the people who are on top of your maintenance of the items in your home, you will be fine. We never get our things serviced like we should, cleans your furnace and all that stuff. If we did that, we would not need the warranty. But since we don't, it's just nice to have insurance. If something does go wrong, we don't have to worry about it. Ask Home Shield, and then they will repair something.

    I am in my second year of being a customer, in the last three months have been horrific. Today, I was placed on hold for what was supposed to be a call transfer for an hour and five minutes. I called back and was told the representative couldn’t help me and contradicted information the representative provided prior to the transfer. My refrigerator was not working for three weeks in July and is currently on week two of not working. No loss reimbursement, no sympathy for trying to live without a working refrigerator and zero customer service or proactive updates.

    When I called the first time today, I was informed parts are no longer available and they were transfer me to review the replacement process. One hour and five minutes later still no answer and remained on hold. My next call, the representative told me she didn’t see any notes to indicate the status of the part available or not available and that she would transfer me to the same department attempted earlier. After several minutes, disconnected. Fridge still non-working. No update. No replacement offer or information. No alternative option for communication other than calling and hoping I can understand the unsympathetic person who takes the call but cannot provide pertinent information. As a customer, and a seven star customer, I expect far better.

    My refrigerator stopped working completely. I went online and told American Home Shield about it. The website was easy to use, and I was told they would contact me. I was out of town and all these things were happening. My car died, my AC died, and my refrigerator died all in a couple of days. I wasn't home when the contractor came. My son said they were great.

    The contractor came out twice and they said that it was because of the type of refrigerator-freezer it was. They said that it would probably cost at least as much or more to repair it than it was to get a new one. They said they weren't sure how long it would take to get the parts for it, so I ended up getting a new one. I had to take out a loan to get the refrigerator because I have to pay for it first and then show that I bought it to get reimbursed. I'm not so happy with that one. I just had to shell out. I had to take out a loan before this to get a new AC unit, which was almost $9,000. Then my car cost 3,500 to fix. In the morning, the refrigerator went out. Then I got a call from my son in the afternoon saying our AC is out.

    Also, I was so disappointed with the plumbers that were sent out. They gave the wrong information and it took two months to get any follow-up. I’m not very happy overall because I had a leak that was outside the house near the foundation. They didn't even dig and they put four holes in my bathroom. They never sent anything in. Then they ended up telling me that I had a leak in the slab, which was untrue. It was an old irrigation system that was in here before I got here that was leaking. My son and I fixed it for $12. It took them two months. They wouldn't send any information so I could find out whether or not it was gonna be covered. My son and I finally just fixed it ourselves.

    It was a very straightforward service with All Valley Appliances. The claim got done very quickly in 30 minutes. However, I had a four-month period where I was waiting on American Home Shield to fix my air conditioning in the middle of summer during a heat wave. The inside of my house was 105 degrees which was very unhealthy for my pets and my girlfriend. It was a very uncomfortable and disappointing situation. That left me with a bad taste. For two months straight, I was calling multiple times a week, sitting on hold for hours at a time. I had representatives tell me that they would be calling me back within the next 24 to 48 hours many times and there was only one call back. We could’ve solved it a lot quicker but it was a total nightmare. I tallied it up and I spent over 50 hours on hold. I know they're short-staffed because of the pandemic but it was impossible to get ahold of anyone.

    There were a lot of very nice people who seemed like they were gonna be helpful then nothing ever happened. I finally pushed my way to the right person who was able to fix things but I don't think that I should have to have done that and I certainly shouldn't have to spend that much time trying to get ahold of them. If I were running their business, I would be giving me a year free or a credit without me even asking for that. I've spent enough time on the phone with them, but I'm not going to pursue that. It just got resolved last week so I haven't had a chance to leave them 'cause my contract got renewed in July. I have the contract for another year but I would not renew come July.

    The air wasn't kicking on at all and the technician from Sirius Plumbing & Air Conditioning handled it efficiently. It was something simple but he caught something a little bit more pressing and concerning and addressed that as well. It was probably the biggest plus out of the whole situation. Submitting claims to American Home Shield is very simple but there should be more transparency about when the policy kicks in because there wasn't much around that. They should be more upfront and clearer. We bought our house on the 10th and we were told we have this warranty. We even submitted that claim for the AC unit but then, we had something else come up. I tried to create a claim and they said that I only get one claim until my policy goes active, which they quoted me, “it wouldn't go active until October 10th.” But in reality, it went active about a week ago.

    In general, American Home Shield has been good. I've had two different service requests where one of them was within the last three weeks, and the other one was a month before that. For the most recent one, it was when my dryer wasn't working. When I'd hit the button to start it, it would not spin. It sounded like it was going when I had my finger on the start button, but when I took my finger off, then it totally stopped. Even with my finger on it, it wasn't spinning.

    I did a service request online and it was good ‘cause I'm not very computer savvy and I managed to set it up easily. They said I would hear from someone within a certain amount of time, and then a service call would be created from there, which was what happened. Everything seemed good.     The contractor, Donald, was inspecting our dishwasher, the range, the refrigerator and the washer. For some reason, they didn't inspect the exhaust hood. But the dishwasher, they claimed it as defective, so they're replacing that. The washing machine was leaking and he wasn't able to fix that, so they're replacing that. The refrigerator should be replaced just because I'm a registered dietician and there are rust and corrosion on the racks in the refrigerator. There is also a black mold around the same. One of the refrigerator door sealants has been damaged too.

    Originally, it was leaking, but the previous contractors hadn't cleaned the condensers. Then AHS closed out the case and they left a voicemail with me. I would then have to pay another $75 fee to then have this guy come out, Donald. He did a good job. He was excellent. He tried to fix things. He cleaned the condensers and I don't see a leak underneath it. He fixed my burners. When they installed, they had reversed the power burner versus a regular burner. He upped the burners.

    You can submit a claim online with AHS and you can also do it over the phone. I've done both. However, I'm located in a very remote area and we have COVID going on. So, getting service people out and I'm in the State of California, it's difficult. Based upon that, I also spend a lot of time on hold with the people in Manila trying to get services. Once I do, they'll open up a service account, I'll pay the $75. The thing is they have a hard time getting someone out to come out here and provide the service.

    But I've had someone, a manager from Phoenix, gave me an open service thing that I can find my own service people to come out, inspect stuff and do it. I haven't yet done that, 'cause Donald showed up and he came in and did the appliances. Now I'm waiting for a plumber and that's been over a month. I called yesterday. The plumber that has been assigned to my case, his voicemail's full. They've emailed him. What I'm gonna do is I usually give these guys about a week and if the serviceman doesn't contact me, then I call AHS, and we figure out another way to do it.

    The people in the Philippines have been very helpful, kind and extremely polite. They understand. If you get disconnected, they call you back. But you have to understand. I appreciate their due diligence in trying to make it right. They are working overseas. They've never been to the United States and they don't understand.

    If AHS would've given me a credit for a refrigerant, I'd be happier. But I'm not happy and I'm not happy that I didn't catch the voicemail that they left with me to say that the case was closed and I had seven days to petition it. My understanding is they did one appliance at a time and I kept on waiting for the next appliance to come along. Do I wanna spend another $75 to have someone come out and look at my refrigerator? No. Then I'm still waiting for the plumbing. I've got a garbage disposal and I've got a leaky sink and I've got faucets that don't work.

Submitting a claim is easy but it’s hard to get a hold of AHS on the phone lately. You have to be on hold for a long time because of everything that has been going on. I try to just do it online when I need to submit a claim but they should have an app where we can download on our phone to do it instead of having to go through the website

    MCI was out here about a week or so ago in regards to a ceiling fan that we had that stopped working. That was the third time that they came out. The first couple of times that they came out, I didn't consider it as their fault that the problem wasn't presenting itself clearly for them. Their response and getting in touch with me to set up an appointment was timely. And whenever they set the appointment, they'd contact me ahead of time to let me know they were here and my expectations were met each time.

    When the first technician came out, he determined that it had to do with a screw and it was too tight. He loosened it and the fan seemed to work for a little while. Then we had put in a second request. When the technician came out, it was kinda working but it wasn't something that was keeping the fan from not rotating. Then the third time, it just stopped working altogether. It was making noises and it wasn't turning. We were afraid that it was gonna possibly start a fire because it was making grinding noises. When the technician came out the last time, he replaced the fan for us.

    We put in the first request on the AHS website. After I submitted the claim, they would reach out to me within 24 hours or so and ask if we would available in any of their available days and times. So I'd worked it out with them. They contacted pretty quickly within that 24-hour window and they were professional on the phone. The contractor was professional each time he came out. He seemed to be thorough. He went through a few different troubleshooting things before he finally realized that it just was not working at all. Overall, American Home Shield is a great service that I've used many times and I've been satisfied every time.

    I put a claim in to American Home Shield for a dishwasher. I went online and submitted what was wrong and then, they sent out a contractor. He looked at the dishwasher and put down what was wrong. They said that AHS would get back to me but they didn’t. So, I finally called the other day because I had been without a major appliance in the house all this time. I didn't get a call within that month. I don't understand because there was a guy here and he took down the color of the dishwasher and the dimensions. They called me twice and asked me for the same exact information. Then, I haven't heard anything. So, I called the other day. I'm highly disappointed.

    I was aggravated. Even if it’s so late, at least just them reaching out and saying what's going on would’ve been very thoughtful of them and considerate. I have a family where it’s six of us and not having a dishwasher has been horrible. They did not even explain what was going on. They said I was lost somewhere in the communication thing and they're sorry. I picked out a dishwasher and I'm still waiting. I don't know where I am. A few weeks before that, I had a plumbing thing outside and that was fast and awesome. I put in a claim on the website easily. They had somebody come out and it was fixed within a couple days. I was very happy with the whole experience but the second time around has been a waiting game. I would’ve liked as a customer to know the status. I understand there’s waiting some time.

    The guy was good. We're in a condominium so it's a little tricky to get in and out. You really have to be guided and know where to go. He called me right away and said that he was outside. I then came down and kinda looked at his truck and told him what the clearance was on our gate. Then I led him down to a space he could park in and it worked out really good. He was helpful and got right to the problem and did his thing.

    There was water leaking from the unit in the inside of the house to the ceiling. He flushed the line and did some things that he needed to do which looked to be perfect. Then it leaked again and I called him back, and he responded very quickly. He was out in the morning then he came right back around 3:00. He had to kind of research it again and figure out what was really causing more of the problem. He went through it again and adjusted some pipes so they flowed better. He kinda tested it better to make sure and pretty much solved the problem after that. Since that day, it's been fine.

    I've had the coverage from American Home Shield for almost two years and though this is the only experience I've had with them, it was great. They were quick to respond and they seemed to be very efficient. The first thing I did was pick up the phone which was a mistake because that would have taken probably forever. They're too busy for that. I was on hold and on hold. My wife said to go online so I did.

    On the website, when you file a claim, there's a list of things you can check but there was no list that said what I needed so I just put "other" to try to get it going and that was all it took. They were set up completely to handle it. I expected a delay but it didn't have any. There was nothing that could have been really simpler for me. No one called me up to clarify. They just called somebody to come out. They initiated it right there. Within half an hour, they had somebody assigned then at least a couple hours, we had an appointment. That was really quick. I would encourage people to use the website. It seemed to work really good and that got the message to American Home Shield really fast.

    I had the same problem I had before when the repairman came out. He’s supposed to put a camera in there and he never did. Then he comes out with a ridiculous thing just to put the snake through 50 feet for $713. I told him to get off my property and not to come back again. The issue is not fixed. I'm gonna call American Home Shield because he said that they could’ve done it. They had an extra deal that they will come inside the house and do the plumbing including the toilet, but nobody ever told me that. I would’ve said okay. I'll pay $10 or whatever is extra.

    For two years, AHS has been taking money in my account and now, I got nothing out of it. AHS has got some plumbers that come up here that don't know anything. So, I'm not happy. It was a very bad experience. I'm probably canceling sometime today. I gotta see if I can find somebody else that will do what they're supposed to do and not keep things from a customer.

    It takes forever to get through to a live person from American Home Shield. But I've had them for 10 years now and I pretty much had a good experience each and every time.     Most of the time, I submit claims to AHS online and it has been very easy. When I call, sometimes there is a language barrier between me and the few of their reps. Still, I have a pretty good experience and we manage to get things resolved. Most of their techs are professional. I had a problem with one of their electrical contractors though but AHS doesn't use them anymore.

    Recently, Garage Door Experts came to my place and I paid them to replace my garage doors as they weren't covered under my warranty. They did a wonderful job at that. The tech had to order parts for the receiver in my two motors at the top and I'm still waiting for those to come. He said they would come in two weeks. I just referred a friend of mine to Home Shield. It's great to have. I've had good experiences with them. I never know when something will go wrong at home and so I won't cancel my service. It helps to only pay a hundred bucks to have somebody to come and look at my issue. If I have to pay the difference, I do that but it still beats having to go to an outside contractor.

    American Home Shield is affordable and it's almost all-inclusive. So it's a great deal and I recommend everyone to them. It's pretty easy to submit a claim online. But when there's a plumbing leak in the wall, the plumber has to open up the wall. But American Home Shield doesn't have in their program to repaint the wall or to match the texture. It's just a wall patch. So that, to me, is a problem because now I'm out of pocket on top of paying American Home Shield the assurance for having to get someone else out there to rematch the texture of the wall and paint it. But I'm sure that's something that AHS does to keep the insurance cheap.

They didn't fix anything. So I called American Home Shield back yesterday and another company is supposed to come out on Friday.     The first time I set the claim up, I put in a request and did it on the computer. As soon as the guy got here to check the disposal, it had stopped leaking. But he came right out. He was very good. I really appreciated his demeanor. He said since it wasn't leaking, there wasn't anything he could do. He said if it does it within 60 days, then I can call back at no extra cost which I appreciated. It had started leaking again so I called back and it went on and on and on with trying to do it on the phone. I don't think I'll ever call again. When I called this morning, I got so frustrated with how long it took to get through with the wait on the computer thing. It drives me nuts. As soon as I did finish that phone call, I did get a text saying that they were sending somebody out.     I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for the microwave and then, I had an email within 24 hours. There were two contractors. The first one was great because before he would come in the house, he wanted to know if anybody had been sick. I had to wear a mask. There were some protocols that were followed. The second contractor was a lot more lenient about that. He did have a mask on but he didn't need me to confirm anything or say that we haven't been around. But he fixed the microwave. He had to take the whole thing apart. The first one had said that he could fix the door as well because the door was kind of hanging. He said that when he changes the fuse, he would do that. But the next guy who came didn’t have any idea what I was talking about and he didn't bring anything to do it. So that was the only thing that was disappointing.     My claim with American Home Shield on an electrical issue went okay. A guy from Ace's Garage Door Repair came and made some adjustments. He said he thought it was just some adjustments, so he adjusted the knobs on the actual garage door opener, and it went up and down. It worked for a day and now, I'm having some of the same issues. The garage door doesn't go all the way down by itself. The guy replaced the button that was in the garage. He said something was wrong with that, too. When I hit the button for it to open, it opens. I hit the button for it to close and it won't close. It’d go halfway down, and then it’ll come back up. I was glad he was able to come out and do what he did, but I don’t think they completely fixed it because I'm having this problem again. So far, American Home Shield is good. I have my spot in my sink sprung a leak. So, I need to call them again for that.

The only problem that I have sometimes is getting a person on the phone. But when I do, they're very good. Also, when something goes bad on the weekends, instead of 24 business hours or Monday morning, I wish we could get something started at that time, like a Saturday morning.     My brother and sister said that once I get my house, I got to get American Home Shield. I wanted to do everything possible to make it easier on me, so I signed up with them. But if I'm paying the policy, then I should be able to have somebody come out within a 15-hour period. Living in Florida and my claim being about the AC, I didn't think I should have to go two days. At that time, it was very warm here, especially during the summer, and the fan of the AC unit was not working. When I submitted the claim, they said it was over the weekend so I had to wait until Monday. But they should have a source of companies, not just one, that can attend to that need. Aside from waiting for two days, the first repair didn't work correctly so, I had another three days for the same thing. But once the techs came out, they were learned on what they needed to do, so I was pleased.

    I submitted a claim online one time but I have a disabled daughter so it's easier for me on the phone. They have been always responding to my phone calls for placing orders over the phone. The first company that American Home Shield sent for my laundry washer did not come. The technician delayed the call and he was last minute. We were shopping and he said that he was five minutes away from my house. I said that he should’ve called me. Then he said that he was gonna be there Monday.     My dishwasher was not working at all and the technician that came out to service it was very friendly. He explained exactly what he was doing and what the issue was. He wore a mask and had gloves on. He was very cautious while he was in my home and I have nothing but positive feedback to provide concerning him and the service that he provided. In general though, American Home Shield is inconsistent. I had experiences like that where the technician was awesome and the company was great in terms of scheduling appointments and getting someone out to take care of the issue. A couple of weeks before that technician came out, I had someone else come because there was a leak from one of my bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink.

    The company that American Home Shield sent to me was not very responsive and they changed why there was a delay every time I talked with them. In the midst of a pandemic, I can't be without a sink to wash my hands. In talking with customer service within American Home Shield, I had someone assist me and schedule an appointment with a different service provider, but it was not until I said that I'm going to go ahead and cancel the service. When the new service provider came out, again, the technician was great. The problem is the people or the companies that American Home Shield contracts with and when there is an issue, they are not necessarily ready to address those issues. It shouldn't have taken a month for me to get that sink repair completed.

    One of the reasons that I keep American Home Shield is because this was not a brand new home. Had this been a brand new home, I would not have kept it past year three or four, because that's when I initially began to notice the shift. I get this more inconsistent service on the poor end more often than I receive the good service. I've also had issues where I've contacted American Home Shield, for example, with my heat and my AC.

    Every single year, I'm contacting them to say there's an issue with the heat as well as with the AC working properly. At some point, I finally got someone, and despite the service provider saying that it was time for a new furnace, they said that American Home Shield was more interested in making the repair than they were in replacing it. Every year, I'm paying the service fee to have someone come out and to fix the same issue. Because I'm not staying here and I don't plan to keep the house, I'm doing exactly what they've allowed, which is band-aid the issue. It's not cheap though.

    We had a few issues with our appliances. Our dryer wasn’t spinning properly. The dryer drum had come off its track. CK Appliance came out and fixed a bearing on it to make it run properly. They got that working nicely. And then there was an issue with our washing machine. The valves for the water weren't working properly so it kept erroring out. It wasn't getting the right amount of water so it kept saying it wasn’t getting any water and it shut off. I specifically requested CK because they had already taken a preliminary look at the washing machine while they were fixing the dryer. They came out, replaced the valve on that, and got that working again.

    CK Appliance was fantastic, super-fast, and was on it. Right at the opening of every one of their windows, they told us they’d be out. They were also great about making sure they called ahead of time and let us know they were on the way. They were fully masked while they were here and they kept a social distance in the house as much as they possibly could. They were helpful too.

    American Home Shield has been good too. When I called them, they were great about making sure that I've got exactly what I wanted to come out and fix my unit. They were friendly and nice. We just moved into this house and as part of the closing for the house, the previous owner got and paid for this home warranty service.

    Chicago Skyline came out to take care of a clogged drain. I've dealt with them on several occasions and they're familiar with our property, so we don't have an issue. They also communicate well with our tenant. The issue more so is with the main company, which is American Home Shield. My feelings about the company as a whole is hit or miss. Submitting the claim is simple and straightforward, but the problem with American Home Shield is that you have to wait on the phone, sometimes for almost an hour, to get to a person. That can be quite annoying, and then sometimes, they send out vendors who aren't the most competent. I don't have a problem with the one that we currently have had, but we've had past experiences where some of the vendors aren't the best.

    To me, American Home Shield needs to provide much better customer service, from speaking with someone, and then they need to vet their vendors a little bit better. I've put my feedback on their Facebook page and just about everybody on their Facebook page says that the company is trash, so they need to do something about that. Nobody wants to go with a company now who can't provide what they say that they can provide and aren't there to help the customers. I would tell my friends and family to find another company to work with because American Home Shield does not have their stuff together yet. They have room for a lot of improvement. We've also been looking at Sears, the competitor, because they do a much better job.

    It all started in January. I had a new furnace put in then I had a broken pipe under the house that apparently had been there for a while 'cause I was beginning to get some smell from the kitchen sink. I called the plumber and he checked it out. He didn't go under the house. He noticed from the side vent outside the house and said I had a broken pipe under there. They could not get in there and fix that pipe until I had restoration done. I asked what was that and he said someone else was supposed to come in, clean up all the debris that was in there and put something underneath to absorb moisture. I had to call someone else and apparently, this is not covered by American Home Shield so I had to go on my own to do this. They came in and cleaned out everything. To get underneath the house, you go in through a closet door and it's a small opening. But they got in. Once that was done, the plumber said to call him me back and he'd come repair the pipe. So, I did.

    Meanwhile, I fell and broke my hip and had to have surgery. I was in the hospitals and rehab. It was during the time it was beginning to get a little warm which I didn't notice I was not getting a lot of air in some of the bedrooms. I was busy tending to myself and doing physical therapy and the heat was something that wasn't on my mind. Finally, June or July, I noticed that there really was no air coming out of some of these four bedrooms, two baths, and my dining room. The vents were open but there was no air coming out of it. So, I contacted the warranty company. After many, many tries of two-hour waiting, I gave up for a while. But I pursued it and they sent someone out in August. I called them to tell them what the problem was. They said they'd have the company who put the furnace in January go and take a look at it. So, they did.

    They came and said the vents in these areas that I had get no air. They're broken or they're crushed because they're old and not have the metal ducting rather than the flexible kind. They also said they took pictures and they were gonna send it to the warranty company. Home Shield wrote back and said it's not a covered item because of misused treatment or abuse. Who's gonna get under there to abuse it? Certainly not us. I called them and said how could it be abuse or misuse of these ducts. They said, "It's not a covered item but you have an option for a second opinion." That was when Delta T came out. The guy was very good. He did not have to go under the house. He just stuck himself halfway down. He took pictures, came up and told me I have crushed ducts.

    Apparently, there's not too much room between the floor and the ducts for people to get under there to do their repairs that they had to do. He said the only way they could get across to these areas was go over these ducts . You could see where the ducts were all indented or crushed where they climbed over them. He said he'd send all the information back to the warranty company and they did. Again, they said it was not a covered item 'cause it was abused and misused. I've spoken most recently to two different people. Because one person said, "No, you don't wanna talk to just a supervisor. You need to go to escalation to a higher level," I said, "Okay. Refer me to them."

    In this letter that I got a denial, it was a different number so, I called that number. This is where I spoke to the first person, Drew, and he was from the Philippines. I said I wanted speak to someone higher. He said, "We do the escalation. We do the in-depth review. We're the ones that handle this." I told him the situation. I said it was not my fault. Someone that came to repair whatever it is under the house broke something. Why should I be responsible for this? He said he was gonna talk to the three vendors and would call me back the next day. I waited two days later but he never called.

    I called that same number again and spoke to someone else. Her name was Josephine and I told her the situation. She said, "Let me talk to someone else that's higher than me." She went and talked to them and came back. She said I needed to talk to someone and gave me the team that deals with the contractors. She also said they would review the telephone call that this other person made and she would get back to me. This was on a Friday. She said, "I'll be gone on the weekend, but I will call you Monday." I have not gotten a callback at all. I never spoke to someone above that, like the contractor relation who were supposed to do all this investigation. I got a letter again a week or so ago saying it's not a covered item. But I'm still waiting to hear what these people supposedly were to have done to have checked upon to see what in fact actually happened.

    I don't get a reply where they say they're gonna call me back. They don't call me back. I have to talk to someone else and give them all the whole story again. I don't know if they actually did talk to the contractors. I don't think it's up to me to talk to the contractors. At the very beginning, I did call the vendor after they told me that it was crushed and broken and he said, "We didn't go anywhere in those other areas. We just did the boot work." I don't know who did it and I doubt I'm gonna be able to find out who did it.

    We've been in this house for three years and I've had to call American Home Shield several times. They've always come through. They've sent me the vendors and I've gotten the work done. They also replaced the refrigerator that came with the house. It was a Viking Refrigerator. They sent out several repairmen to see what could be done. They needed to order parts but parts were not available anymore. So, I had to talk to someone else, not just a regular representative but someone else who was apparently higher up. I told them they couldn't repair it and I wanted a new refrigerator. They didn't replace it with a Viking 'cause they're too expensive but they replaced it with a French door Sears brand. So, I was satisfied with that. But it took me a little while to do it. They replaced my furnace too 'cause that was covered.

    Everything has worked fine, except for this time. This time, I'm not getting called back. They keep telling me it's mistreatment and misuse and abuse. If it was something that was up above the house or outside, I can understand how somebody could come and kick something and break it. But when it's underneath the house, the only people who get under the house are the repair people.

    It's also hard to get through to them. I was up one morning at 3:00. I couldn't sleep and thought of calling them. It was an hour and a half wait. If you call in late afternoon, late evening or early evening or Sunday, they don't give you the option to say, "If you want, we can call you back when someone gets free." They do that sometimes. That happens during the day. Sometimes I've had that come in but other times I haven't. At night, it didn't.

    One night, I called them and it was close to 5:00 my time. It was an hour and 40-minute wait. I cooked dinner while I was on hold. I cleaned the kitchen up. Finally, a recording came on and said they were disconnecting me 'cause they had been talking to other customers. That was after an hour and 40 minutes. I called two hours later, and it was an hour and a half but I held on. Finally, someone did pick up. The representatives that I've always spoken to have always been very helpful. They're nice. They always say, "Have a nice day and thank you for calling." But the wait time is a horrendous thing. It's too long.

    The toilet wasn't draining and the contractor came in. I had to order a pump. They fixed it and everything went smoothly. I’ve only had American Home Shield for about three months and the only thing is that when they schedule for a tech to come out, it takes about a week. Then, it takes about a week to order a part. So, you’re without an appliance for two weeks. I completely understand the process but they could improve towards the timeliness. Still, I'd recommend them. I shopped around and AHS had the best price with the best benefits.

    Our AC was leaking a lot of water and it was creating mud outside the home. The first time Airtronics came, they repaired something that had gone bad that we didn't realize. So they thought that would fix the issue but it kept dripping water. Then on the second time, they found water on the pan. They blew the air out and unclogged it. Then after that, my yard guy found that there was water dripping straight off the mud.

    So we called for the third time and the guy went in and said that he would plug the line which should work. If it didn't work, he said the he wouldn't be able to do anything. So I went back yesterday to the yard, I was still seeing mud and water back there. Whatever the guy did last time helped. But the problem, in essence, was never fixed. So we're thinking of calling a plumber and see what they will tell us about that. I wanna be careful 'cause I don't want somebody that tells me that I need something that I don't really need. This was my first time contacting American Home Shield. I tried to submit one before to rekey the house but I didn't know how it worked. But when the AC issue came, I contacted my Realtor who helped me pick American Home Shield. We did it on the app online. He also said that all I had to do was to pay that 75, and AHS would send somebody.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is extremely easy. I do it online. It only takes a couple of minutes max from start to finish. The last claim that I had, I posted the request, and within 10 minutes, I had somebody from CTR Services contact me and said, “Hey, I'm in your area. I'll be right there.” It was extremely fast. It was 6 o'clock at night, it was late and it was all taken care of. I needed Freon, so they put Freon in my unit, sent me a bill, and I paid it the next day. So far, American Home Shield fixed everything that I've needed from a dishwasher to the AC and a couple of other things. I have recommended AHS to a friend who ended up buying it.

    I have two houses that I pay to support this insurance for over $1,200. The way to handle things varies and changes. Some companies are very good, some are not. I don't know why it's totally different situation. The central vacuum is 20 years old and it just broke. Sierra Central Vacuum came out. The technician is a specialist. He checked it, called American Home Shield, got it approved, gathered new equipment, and installed it. It was a one-time service that resolved the problem. I was very satisfied. However, I called so many times for the dishwasher issue and I had to pay three times to resolve it. Then American Home Shield does a lot of advertisements and also the follow-up always makes you renew. I wish they concentrate on their job quality and customer service quality instead of putting a lot on advertisements. They should save the money for better service.

    I've had American Home Shield for 35 years and I was really happy until last year when they changed some of their rules on fixing things. I got stuck with one of their regulations saying that their warranty was not gonna apply because what I had was out of code. Before, even if something was out of code or if I had something like my air conditioner put in 25 years ago, they would fix it anyway. Instead, we got stuck with a $5,000 air conditioning repair bill. I was a realtor and I always put Home Shield on all my homes. I would go to bat for them in a minute but this little change to their rules is making a big difference.

    For those who own an older home, everything is gonna be out of code when they break down. Still, I always say that other than the one incident I had with my AC, Home Shield has done a ton of work on both my houses. I am considering though whether I should just self-insure myself for future breakdowns especially with how high the cost of coverage has gotten.

    I've had one claim and the contractor called me within a day. It was wonderful. He came out on time. He did the job that he was supposed to do. Everything was great except for they couldn't fix the dishwasher because it goes on and off. The guy tightened a bunch of stuff and it came on. Then we turned it off, and turned it on, and it came on. But after he left, it went off again. They're gonna replace my dishwasher now and I got a call last week from American Home Shield. It was an 800 number. I couldn't understand the lady that left the message. I don't have any idea who I'm supposed to call or what I'm supposed to do. I called the contractor and she said since American Home Shield is gonna replace the dishwasher, they aren't involved with that anymore. I called American Home Shield directly and they transferred me to another number which was fine. But after an hour and a half on hold, I hung up.

    My built-in microwave came up with error messages. It would start beeping at 3:00 in the morning and come up with error messages SE and various messages. I called AHS and they said that contractor would notify me as far as when they would be there and that I would get an email indicating who it had been given to. I did receive that. Then the tech came out and he went through some reset procedures. It reset, but then within a few hours, it was doing it again. So he came back, ordered a part and installed it.     I had placed a call several weeks earlier and Crain's Air Conditioning came out and looked at our air conditioner. Then I had some additional problems so they came out and fixed one thing on it. Then it went down two days later. They came back out for a third call and traced down the issue and replaced the capacitor on it. They were very professional and they responded very promptly. Submitting those claims was fairly easy in the beginning. The biggest thing with COVID right now is actually talking to a live person. There's an extended wait time because they have fewer people in the office who's answering the phone. So other than the initial wait time to talk to someone, that's the most difficult thing about it.

    We've been with American Home Shield for about 9 to 10 years now and we've been very satisfied with their service for the most part. This year, they've replaced a pool pump, air conditioning three times, a microwave, and they were out today for some breakers in my electrical box. They've been a good problem solution, very positive, and have a quick response. The only thing that might be different is not having enough available authorized contractors locally. Sometimes that can lead to a wait time and that's probably the biggest thing. But other than that, they're usually pretty good.

    I gave Home Shield a call and they scheduled the contractor to come out. The contractor came out that same day and the breaker was fixed. It was very smooth and very well done. The contractor had boot covers and he had his mask on. It was just a breaker change, so nothing complicated. And the contractor knew what they were doing and it was an easy fix.

    When you call Home Shield, they want you to go online and all that, but sometimes you just need to talk to a representative. And sometimes it's difficult from the start or it takes a long time. I knew it was an electrical issue, but sometimes you don't know if it's an electrical issue or something else. So, I don't wanna schedule someone to come out to fix my fridge when it's an electrical issue. I wanted to talk to somebody there to let them know, "Okay, what if it's not a fridge issue, but an electrical issue? How does that go and all that?" But they wanted me to go online and just ask for a repair person, but I might not know how to diagnose. But in my recent case, I knew. Home Shield should let me talk to a representative which is easier than what currently is rather than just do everything online.

    I've never used American Home Shield until now. My disposal went bad, so they had a guy from Sigmond Plumbing come out. It took two days and I wish that it was a little bit quicker getting to my house. It was easy to request for service, but I wish the online would let you answer a bit more questions and in depth than what it is. There was one where I wanted to say it was leaking and it wasn't working. They're combined and I couldn't answer both of them. Maybe if I could have selected the leaking too, there would have been a lot more urgency to getting to my house, but I stuck a bowl under there, so it wasn't horrible. When my sister called for her company though, they were out the same day. I'm assuming it depends on who they call and if they're available though.

    We had a plumbing issue. I submitted claim through the app. It was done in a couple of minutes. It was super easy. The contractor came out and got us all sorted out. He was very professional and he wore a mask and gloves. He didn't come with booties, which would be nice, but that would be above and beyond. But he took care of one of the problems with the water heater and he explained to me step-by-step what he was doing to relight the pilot, the things to look out for the next time it might go out. He said that while he was checking the downstairs plumbing leak, that he would just wait a while to make sure that the light stayed on before he left. It was pretty straightforward.

    Some part inside of something like a washer at the downstairs bathroom needed replacing. So, the guy put an order in for that part and he would come back. But it sounded like it might be a couple of days. It has been a week now and I haven't heard from them. So, I don't know if the part was backordered or what is going on. However, we have hot water now and a bunch of clean people. We had the whole AC system replaced by AHS too. Everything went as expected. They communicated to me in a timely manner and followed up.

    We call the main phone number for American Home Shield and explain to them what the problem is. They say they're gonna contact someone to get back to us with an appointment date. Maybe two or three days after the appointment, our deductible is deducted. I gave them a payment from my checking account. I made a claim for my oven and this is for the same repair and the same company I had in April. For whatever reason, our oven went out. The tech came right out and repaired it. He was fine.

    I had to pay again for the same problem that I had in April. The tech explained to me that the company had a 30-day warranty. American Home Shield explained to me that there was only a 60-day warranty. I asked if I could purchase a longer warranty and they told me they didn't have that available. I wish that the guarantee on the work lasted longer on certain work that’s done, especially if it's the same problem. But if that's American Home Shield's conditions with the contract, then there's nothing that I could do about that. Maybe something that they all could think about in the future. Otherwise, my experience was fine.

    Six weeks ago, I called in to get information on what AHS covered 'cause it's benign on the policy. I had to wait an hour and a half to get someone to pick up. I really wish they would have a callback system. But when I called in for the claims, it was awesome. Somehow, I was lucky enough to get patched through in 15 minutes. It was doable. I told them that I have banging in the walls when you turn on the hot water. I don't believe it's a leak 'cause there's no dark spots through the walls. I suggested to them that it might be a pressure valve. They took in all the information and they'd let me know. They said, "We don't cover for warranties if there's a noise in the wall," which I figured they wouldn't. You'd have to tear up all the walls to find it. So, that was fine.

    Then with my air conditioner, it sounded the motor was ready to go out. They thought it would be a good idea to get someone to come out and take a look at it. They said, "Look, it's not ready to go out." They're not gonna repair it, but at least we can note it. Did I like paying $75 for that? No. But I understand where they were coming from. They don't come out, they're not gonna note it.

    The representative that handled the call was outstanding. She was excellent. Couldn't ask for anyone better. The service people that came out, came from the same company about 20 minutes apart. The plumbing gentleman, I told him what the problem was and he asked me, "Someone flushes the toilet, does the water get really high?" I said, "No." He said, "It's most likely amount of pressure."

    He asked me if I ever flushed out the water heater and I said, "No. I've only been in the house five months. I've never done it. Can you show me how to do it?" He took the liberty to do it for me, to show me exactly how easy it is, which was pretty cool. The air conditioning gentleman came out, he was listening to the sound. He said, "Your motor is not gonna make it through the next summer. That's why it's laboring." It's still blowing out cold air. He explained how the warranty works. They don't replace the whole condenser, they just replace the motor. Whatever's broken is what they're gonna replace. He was fine. He did a test on it and realized that the capacitor was ready to go, so he replaced that. So far, so good.

    Foster's Heating & Air solved our problem and they were awesome. The issue was the piping that was that carried the water. The guy already had the part but he had to get the replacement approved through Home Shield first. It took a couple of days but it wasn't a big deal. As soon as he got an approval, he came back and fixed it. And it works perfectly now. American Home Shield was great. At first, I thought we were gonna have trouble calling in the claim. When I tried to pay the first time, it wouldn't go through for some reason. They had to email me and I had to call them back to use another form of payment, and my co-pay finally went through. American Home Shield has the best price and they have good reviews.

    This is my second property with Home Shield. Recently, the downstairs AC unit stopped working. The issue ended up being it was low on refrigerant so it was freezing up the core. Atchley Air came in, diagnosed the unit and filled it full of refrigerant. They did great. I've had that issue before with a different house, and we'll see if it lasts. If it does, then it was successful. If it doesn't, we'll figure out what the issue is.

    I know their process is good. But one time, my garage door opener didn't work. The contractor went in there, and they realized the little knob thing was worn down. They replaced it immediately. But when it comes to AC units, at least in my Michigan house, I have spent hundreds of dollars to diagnose what the issue is because you gotta go through the steps. It would be nice to give them a bit more autonomy to know to stop putting money on the unit if it was not any good. Also, Home Shield could sweeten the referral pot. I've referred a few people, but you only get 25 bucks. I've been a big fan of them. In the first few years, it probably worked better in our favor. We haven't had any issues over the last couple years. So, it has probably worked better in their favor, but that's why we have it. They always fix whatever issue we have, so that is good.

    I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim 'cause I didn't have my hot water in my bedroom in the shower. They told me that someone would be contacting me. They gave me the option of two contractors and I picked Waters Edge. I knew the other one so I wanted to get someone I didn't know. That was the first one they recommended also. The contractors texted me or emailed me when they were coming out and told me who it was that was coming and when they were coming.

    When the contractor came out, he discovered that I had some work done recently - a completely new shower package. When the installers did, there was something they neglected to do. The hot water wasn't going all the way over to turn on the hot water, it was stopping. There was a stop in there and he said that that happens a lot. The contractor did an excellent job. He was very informative. He checked the water heater and asked me some questions. Because he said the water heater was fine. So that was when he started checking if I've had any work done in the bathroom. I found the contractors very helpful and professional. I've had American Home Shield for 20 years. I don't use them a lot but when I do, they take care of what I asked them to.

    My central air conditioning broke. I called American Home Shield and their contractor came. The techs said that my unit needed to be replaced. Home Shield didn't tell me that they could actually fix it. Also, they can pay the contractors to replace my unit instead of having me pay another guy. There was a lot of miscommunication. Eventually, the tech came, installed the replacement and did a decent job. He had to get a couple of subcontractors to do my electrical. I wish AHS would have told me right off the top that they had this option to use their contractor which would be a lot cheaper. Still, things went well.

    We called American Home Shield over the phone to have our central air conditioning unit serviced and then they called the place that was gonna service it here locally. The date and time was then verified and we paid 100 for the deductible on the service. The unit may need coolant and they had noted on the recording on Home Shield that there would be a little fee. The unit did need some coolant, so we had to pay an extra $35 and that was our total price. The air conditioning has worked good since then. We live in the desert, so we run our central air practically year-round.

    The turnover time to get a service person was very reasonable, so we liked that. We didn’t have to sit and swelter in the heat too long. It took a couple of days before the service person called and he was there within two more days. It was four days in total. He had to deal with some other stuff, but that wasn’t too bad. It was also over a weekend. The AC went out on a Thursday, and by Tuesday, the service person was here. Our interactions with him were very good as well.

    I have called this company on several occasion concerning a problem with my AC. They told me due to excessive use of my system they could not service my system. Well they knew that my home wasn’t a newly built home, so yes there will be problems that arise. Isn’t that the reason I purchase the home warranty. I have tried to reach management about my concern, but can only get as far as a person who only speaks broken dialect, and tells me that she will have someone call me. I have been waiting for a return call for over three week, and no one has yet to follow up with me. I only ask for a refund of all my monies, however this company seems as though they are truly a rip off. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE.

    My well pump stopped working on Saturday, which means no water in the house. I contacted AHS and requested service. A contractor was assigned, but did not contact me. I reached out to AHS and they told me a new contractor would be assigned and contact me on Sunday. Sunday came and went with no contact. On Monday morning I called again and a contractor was finally assigned and that morning went to my house. The technician identified the issue as a bad control board. He immediately submitted the authorization request to AHS. Hours later there was no word from AHS. I contacted them and they told me the contractor had not submitted the paper work. I asked them to call the contractor because I knew that wasn't true.

    After the person at the AHS call center talked to the contractor he admitted the paper work had been submitted and was being held up by the authorization team. This pattern of blaming the contractor and then later admitting AHS was holding up the process happened multiple times on Monday and Tuesday as I made calls requesting updates on when the authorization board would make a simple approval for a basic part. So now it is Tuesday night and I'm still without water. The fix is a basic one, but AHS is dragging their feet. I will looking for a new provider after this is over. Very bad service. My family is without water and they are taking their time. I strongly advise against using AHS.
