    Submitting a claim with AHS has always been painless and very easy. I submitted a claim on the phone because the display where it shows the time and it has your controls for your oven, that display pushed in a little bit. For whatever reason, the wires may have touched when it did that, and it popped. It burned. I talked to the contractor on a Wednesday and he came out on a Wednesday to look at the issue. He ordered the part. The part came in Sunday and that following Wednesday, he put it in. I was very satisfied with the timeframe.

    I'm glad I switched back over to AHS. I had American Home Shield when I first purchased my home and it was a little more expensive than the plan that I switched to, which was First American Home Warranty. But their service was horrible, I was, "I gotta go back." So, I went back to American Home Shield. I am grateful that I did because it's definitely worth every dollar.

    So far, it's been pretty easy with American Home Shield. They seem to be very reputable and very responsive to what you need to have done. We have two air conditioning systems in our home. It's a fairly good-sized home. One went completely out and had to be replaced. American Home Shield was right there. No muss, no fuss, no argument. They just got it fixed. My most recent claim was for the air conditioning unit and Performance Heating & Cooling repaired it. Out of all the air conditioning folks that we have dealt with through American Home Shield, Performance is absolutely the best place.

    The only issue that we've had was with the actual people doing the work. We had one company that wasn't quite doing what they said they were going to do and when they did it, they claimed that that really wasn't part of what they had submitted to American Home Shield and wanted us to pay for something extra. I advised them that they should probably take it up with American Home Shield.

    We had an expansion tank on top of our water heater that was leaking. I tried to call American Home Shield and there was such a huge wait time trying to talk with someone so everything is done online. After I did the request, a guy from A&B Plumbing came and put a new tank on. However, the water pressure dropped, so he came back out to straighten that up. This is our second year into American Home Shield where we renewed it. It's a great service and it works for us.

    I've been with Home Shield for two years and I don't like how I can't change policy-wise. They only give me a two-month gap. After that, if I wanna change my policy, I gotta wait 10 months. Also, it would be better if they vet their contractors. A lot of the times the contractors they sent me had very poor reviews. There were issues with someone of them coming back or waiting on the parts. Also, they keep fixing the same issue over and over. With my dryer, I had to come back to AHS three times for the same issue.

    Recently, I wasn't getting electricity in some of the outlets in my master bedroom. I called American Home Shield and their contractor City First Electric came out. The problem turned out to be a loose wire in my fuse box and they fixed it quickly. I was satisfied with them. Other than the issues with some of their contractors, AHS's customer service has been really great and they get my problems resolved.

    I had my hot water heater looked at. I submitted it and the contractor was here within the next day. I just purchased this house so I was really worried about it and it actually ended up being something as simple as having to relight the pilot light 'cause it's up in the attic. I'm kind of an old grandma and I couldn't get up there. But he was fast, he was efficient, he told me my hot water heater was still new and still under warranty and I did not even know that. It was fixed fast and it was awesome.

    The house I had previously, when I lived in Altus, when I worked at the Air Force Base a year or so ago, my heater went out on there and it was the same issue, a gas pilot light that didn't relight. The technician I had then too was great. He came right out there within a day, he had a certain time, he came in the time frame he said he was going to and had it fixed, and very friendly, very clean. There were a little few things 'cause he had to pull some stuff apart and he cleaned and swept it up.

    Both times I've had to use American Home Shield, they have been wonderful. They were great about getting somebody there within a day or two. I've been very happy with them and I tell everyone I know that if they don't have it, they need to pick up American Home Shield. It's just better to have it and it's definitely worth the money.

    There was a wire that was cut between my bedroom wall and the box outside. The first company American Home Shield sent to handle it was horrible. The tech they sent had every excuse. He came to our door fighting with his girlfriend on video chat. He spent three minutes in the house with no tools and left. He said he had to get permission from work to begin putting holes in our walls but we never heard from him again. Somebody else from the same company checked everything out. He told me what the other guy said already. Three or four days later, I hear from no one about what's going on. The comment I got was that I was a hoarder and that the techs couldn't get through the stuff I had in my house.

    By that time, I was beyond livid. Home Shield sent some other guy who lives close to me. He had all the tools to follow the wire and see where it was coming from. He suspected where the electricity wasn't coming down. He went up in the attic and had the work done in an hour and 20 minutes. He was professional and was an extremely nice gentleman. I praised him for the work. Since the repair, things have been marvelous.

    AHS has to watch out with whom they contract with. The first two contractors left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I just started a new job and it's hard for me to get off work. Currently, I need to get my garage door open and again I went through one of the companies that they sent out initially. The tech wanted to sell me a garage door when nothing is wrong with my door. With AHS, the work gets done, but I have to fight for everything. Plus, it doesn't matter what time I call. Phoning something it takes 45 minutes to an hour. It's either I get disconnected or their reps hang up on me.

    I had an air conditioning issue and submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy. They had a contractor here to try to fix it within a day. The contractor had the unit running when he left, but then it shut down again about an hour after. We had to get somebody else to come out because that contractor couldn't get here for about five days. It was 87 degrees inside the house before American Home Shield agreed to send somebody else. The next contractor was great. They were here within about two hours from when they were called. With American Home Shield, I spent a total of close to five hours on hold in three phone calls, trying to get somebody else to come and fix it for the second time. I am no longer a customer.

    American Home Shield has handled all of our issues we've had very professionally so we've never had an issue. There was once it took them a little while to resolve it but things like that happen. Recently, they sent Mr. Appliance for the dryer. They were able to put us on and get us with a local vendor and the local vendor was able to come out quickly, take care of what we needed and had us back up and running in 24 hours.

    We've had American Home Shield for about nine years. A few months ago, I called in for my hot water heater. It was a Sunday and I said, "I need to get somebody out to look at the hot water heater. I know what's wrong with it, it's rusted out, it's done." They said they'd call a vendor. I said, "Well, there's plenty of 24-hour vendors, I'm willing to pay the additional fee if they'll come out today." They said, "Well, we can't do that. We can't just pick a vendor." I told them, "Well, you used to be able to," but then it seemed they've outsourced their call center and they're not as knowledgeable or helpful as they used to be. So instead of having a hot water heater on Sunday, which there were six companies I could have called locally and had them put one in Sunday, I ended up not getting one until a Friday. So, it was five days to go without hot water in the house. That soured me a little bit on them.

    Besides that, they've done a very good job. In the past, they give you a list of two or three companies to choose from. You could say, "Yeah, that one's been great. They've been here before." But now they don't give you that. When I asked them about it, their comment was, "Well, you can get another vendor but you just have to cancel this service, call in again, pay the fee again, and see who you get that time." The chance of getting the same vendor is 50-50. I told them, "No, I'm not gonna do that. You guys should have access to this."

    If you're in the middle of June and your air conditioner's out, you can't be in your house at 110-degree heat all day for five days and hot water heaters fall into that. I can do without a clothes dryer for a few days, but I really don't wanna do without a hot water heater. I got to talk to one of the plumbers. He got hot water heaters on his truck. He could have went and picked up the hot water heater, and we would have paid the same amount. There are a few things AHS can prioritize. Being able to look at other vendors who are 24-hour vendors and have them in their repertoire of people to use would be good.

    Aside from that, I've been happy with them. American Home Shield handled the dryer appropriately. But if they can improve on a few things, it can be a lot better. As people understand a warranty is a protection for them in case something goes wrong, the biggest selling point is if your air conditioner goes out in the first two years, it's gonna get covered.

    I've had AHS for years. I had them in our house in Tucson. I submit claims on the phone. It doesn't bother me to wait on the line. Our last claim was for the AC that wasn't functioning. White Mountain Heating & Cooling came out and the tech was on time. I've always been happy with those gentlemen that came out for the AC. It turned out we blew a fuse and they replaced it. The unit has been running okay.

    My experience with American Home Shield was great, quick and professional. Standlee Heating and AC came out for my air conditioner that wasn't cooling down. It would stay on consistently but the house would stay at the same temperature like 82 degrees. They were great. The guy was experienced. He knew exactly what he was doing. He was respectful and professional as well. The repair helped a lot especially since my wife is doing schooling. She's able to be there more comfortably and the house stays cold. The AC turns off when it has to turn off and turns it back on when it has to.

    If the AC reached a temperature, it had to shut off for any reason, and I could not turn it back on. I'd have to turn it off. But it would try to turn on so the motor would still run. The fan wouldn’t spin. The guy from Cutting Edge Total Comfort came out and had his mask on. He actually had the part on hand. He let me know what it was, fixed the issue, and then good to go. Overall, American Home Shield was very great.

    Our compressor was making a horrible noise and it wouldn't connect with the other part of the air conditioner. It would blow off and keep going on and on. There was some little tiny part on the air conditioner that was broken and wasn't cutting the outside thing off at all. I did a claim online and it seemed to be better than trying to call somebody. Our stuff always breaks on the weekend like in the middle of the night. I had an experience before where the system called me in a couple of hours. It wasn't even a person because nobody's really there 24/7.

    For this AC claim, the tech was here fast. He didn't have the part because he said that he had just put that on the day before with somebody else. He added that the issue we had was a very common problem with air conditioners. Apparently, there was a part really close by. He went down the street somewhere, got the part, and came right back. He was really good and he wasn't here very long at all. I had a lot of trouble with the air conditioner last summer and this summer too. The tech had been here the last couple of times. The unit has been working fine since he repaired it.

    American Home Shield is kind of expensive and you have to pay 75 bucks for a contractor to come out. But I never really know what it costs American Home Shield because I never know what the parts cost. Last summer, they replaced a lot of the parts of my air conditioner so it was pretty expensive. I had to pay 325 bucks for the contractor to set the thing on the outside. I thought, "Why would I have to pay that?" But I went ahead and paid it because it was cheaper than getting a new system. Other than that, American Home Shield is easy to call up. My experience was good.

    We had two claims with AHS, one for the ice machine on the refrigerator and another for the refrigerator, which wasn't cooling at all. The Arrowhead tech fixed the refrigerator and he fixed the top of the ice machine but the bottom still isn't dispensing ice. But that's okay. He was very kind and courteous. Our claim for the AC unit was not too great, though. We live in Arizona with hot temperatures and it took a week and a half to get somebody out here to fix our problem. But it's working fine now.

    The pool equipment wasn't working and All American Pools took care of it. I got a phone call back as soon as I paid my $100 and they out in less than three days. It was really quick and I was impressed. This is my first experience with American Home Shield and I like it. There were some of the items that AHS chose not to cover, which was a little disappointing. But they did cover a good bit. The part that wasn't covered was the pool plumbing, which was spelled out in the contract. But regardless, I'm very satisfied with the workmanship and the professionalism of the people that they sent out.

    I have a new fridge. But door on its icemaker stopped working. There was a bad circuit board and the tech from MC2 Appliance Service had to order a new one. About five days later, he came back out and replaced it with a new part. It works fine now. I've used American Home Shield three times and each time has been pretty straightforward and simple. Their website is very intuitive. You fill out a small description of the problem and what appliance or piece in your house that's covered is in disrepair. They find an appropriate contracted company that they have that handles those kinds of claims. Then they contact you to set up an appointment that's convenient for you and come out and do the work to your satisfaction. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome every time.

    When I was looking into companies online, American Home Shield called me first and their reps answered my questions. I called the company I was with before and they didn't get back to me. As AHS had a very good reputation, I went to take a look at them and decided I was not gonna keep shopping around. So far, I've had one claim and AHS was really good. They got me the contractor I wanted. The follow up was incredibly good as well. The first person I selected ended up being scared of heights though but AHS got me paired up with the company I'm currently with. The second company I got, Same Day Repair, has been really good. They go out of their way to be helpful and they make sure things are right. They do the smallest things they don't need to do which is really nice.

    American Home Shield has been great. We've had four claims and everything has been taken care of quickly. It's so simple to file a claim. It's amazing and it's the easiest thing I've ever done. Everyone I've had with them has been easy as it can be. It was quick and there were no questions asked. They've been great. I'll recommend them to anybody. The only problem is getting the parts mailed. But that's not the problem of the repairman or American Home Shield or anybody.     My downstairs unit was not cooling very well. It wouldn't get below 80. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield. The website was fine. It said that the contractors would contact me in the next couple of days. We opened the claim on a Friday and then the contractors called me Monday. The technicians came out and they checked the unit. They said that I was low on Freon. It's an older unit so, they added Freon and then they put something that helps with leaks. Since it's an old unit, he said it probably has leaks in it. He put something in the lines that help with leaks. They were great. They took precautions with masks. They never even had to enter my house, which was good. He came in to look at the thermostat, but that was it.

    I put in a claim for the microwave. We sat and waited for the contractor, and then at about five o'clock, I contacted them. They said the guy called out sick. I told them that they didn't have the decency to give me a phone call so I didn't have to sit all day and wait. They were sorry and then they hung up on me. I called American Home Shield and told them that I didn't want that contractor to come and fix the microwave. I ended up having a different one come out. They're local, next town over. They contacted me, set up an appointment, contacted me again before they came out, came out, and looked at it. I got a buyout thing from AHS to buy a microwave. I've had them years ago and they're still good.

    The dryer was not drying properly, and American Home Shield sent AMTEC Services who diagnosed the problem. The lead time for the parts was significant, but there was a kind of a backlog for parts and new appliances because of COVID. So, that took longer than normal. But they were great with communication and came back out when they said they would and fixed it. Now, the dryer runs great. As far as American Home Shield, it would be a little easier to get a live person if you have an issue.

    The water in the dishwasher wasn't draining out. It was in the bottom of the tray. The technician from The Supreme Service came in and he was very professional. He had a mask on and I had one on as well. I talked to him within the six feet distance and when he showed me the dishwasher, he backed away. I came forward and he told me where the issue was, and he fixed it. He ran the dishwasher and let it run its course. He said that the dishwasher was clogged up with built-up grease. So, I run the hot water in the sink before I start the dishwasher because the hot water gets rid of the grease build-up.

    We've had American Home Shield for some years now, so we're okay with it. It is 100% beneficial. You spend your $70 for them to come out and attempt to fix the issue. If the issue can't be fixed, the appliance has to be replaced.     I have never had a problem with our home warranty until our AC started to leak. The technician came out and "fixed the leak" however a few days later, we noticed it leaking again. Today, I received the work authorization approval which said we would have to pay $6,000 out of pocket to fix the unit. This policy covers nothing and is not worth your money. We chose to pay extra to have our AC covered, and basically just wasted money. I have seen other home warranty companies cover similar AC issues for a few hundred dollars. Don't pick this one.

    This is the worst home warranty company! Very difficult to get ahold of. The website is not user friendly. There is no way to send them an email, you can't edit contact information, there is no way to explain what exactly is going on in an "other box". The companies they contract are not very good. The first company AHS scheduled did not show up. A week later, the second company that was scheduled said they had to replace the majority of the system. It took weeks for AHS to approve this and when they did, the company failed to follow up. This all happened in 90 degree weather.

    In July I called a private company and they came and fixed it on the spot for $350. I then called AHS and told them what happened, told them that I saved them tons of money and asked to be reimbursed. After some back and forth they agreed. As instructed by them I emailed them proof of payment on July 9 to this private company and have not heard anything back since. I messaged them on Facebook because it takes hours to get an agent on the phone to find out what was going on.

    They responded that they were backlogged and it could take a few days to be processed. That was July 24. After not hearing anything again I messaged them on September 11 and they responded that they did not get the receipt. I sent them a screenshot of the email that I had sent them in July. They responded that someone would reach out to me. Of course, I have not heard anything as of today. AHS is quick to accept my payments but when it comes to taking responsibility for their part, they are lax and do not care about their customers. It's amazing how this kind of company stays in business.

    The first guy that came in for my AC claim wanted to charge me $98 to fill up the gas on the compressor. But Home Shield just replaced the compressor last year and normally, gas doesn't go away just like that. I asked how much gas is it going to need and he said it might take five to six pounds which is like $600. I told him I'm gonna need a second opinion and that I didn't want him here. I called Home Shield and I told them they need to send another company because the guy wanted to charge me so much. They sent True Master and the guy charged me $45 per pound. He filled up two pounds of gas right in front of me. He was perfect.

    I called AHS and I made a claim for my air conditioner. They told me they were gonna send somebody. However, the person who came over here, he went to every single room. I told him that he has to check the AC and he was supposed to go over there where the unit is. But he said, "Oh, no. Normally, it's over here." So he went even inside the closet. My baby, she's 18 and she was in her room. My husband was also in his room and he was sleeping. My house has four rooms so he went to every single room. I was upset. I said, "Sir, I think what you need to check is the unit." Then he was like, "Normally it's here."

    After that, he was like, "Okay. Show me." I said, "It's right here in the third floor." Then I said, "Do you want me to stay?" Because I was waiting for him. He said, "No. I'll be there." When I went downstairs, after five minutes, he came downstairs and said, "They're gonna call you." He was supposed to check outside too. But he just left. Then somebody called me. They said, "Well, this guy said the AC is working." I said, "What are you talking about?" Then they told me, "We're gonna send a different person." Another company came in and they said, they had to replace the cord. They told me, it was 2,800. I said, "That is a lot of money." I said, "We just need to make sure if they're gonna give me a warranty." Then they told me somebody was gonna give me a callback but they never did that.

    I also had a plumbing issue with my toilet. But the contractor who came said it was working. Also, I called because my sink was dripping water. Because one day, I brushed my teeth and I heard a noise. I opened everything on the sink when I brushed my teeth and I saw it was leaking. So when the guy came in after three days, it was not leaking. I was glad that he didn't have to work or fix any extra. He was really professional. He checked everything. He was on time. I was happy. But with the air conditioner, I was not happy.

    American Home Shield is a great product to have for your home. If you own a home, you need to have it because anything can go wrong and they make it so easy to get the repairs done. When my lights wouldn't work in my bathroom. I filed a claim with them. I don't know what happened but the day that the technician showed up, the lights were working. He really didn't have to do anything but he still was very pleasant. He explained to check some of these things next time before I file a claim and different things to kinda troubleshoot it if it happened again after he left. I still think it was money well spent.

    The process is great. You go on and tell American Home Shield what's wrong. You click then they set up an appointment for you. You pay your deductible and they send someone out.     It's really easy submitting a claim with AHS. You just go online and submit it and they have 24 hours to get back to you. I had no problem when submitting a claim. I just did it on my phone. I had an AC issue and then the contractors came out. We thought they fixed the problem. The day they came, I went and left town to go to The Keys for a week. I came home and realized it was still not fixed. The motor had gone out.

    I called American Home Shield. They put another request in right away. However, the contractors were a little confused. It took them four days to get back out there. So we didn't have any air for about four days. But the guy did a great job when he came and serviced the unit. He fixed it right away and knew what it was. It was just the time of year in Florida. It's busy. But as far as American Home Shield, they were great to deal with. I had no problem at all. They were Johnny-on-the-spot. I highly recommend American Home Shield.

    GE came out two times, and then another one came out. This is my third claim with American Home Shield. It's always been the same thing. The freezer's not getting cold enough. It's like 25 degrees and the refrigerator was supposed to be at least 40, and we're looking at 55 degrees. What it's doing is it is freezing up behind the wall and not thawing out properly. The latest technician that came out is gonna replace all the parts that had been previously replaced. He was saying that it could possibly be that wrong parts were put in or there's another part that they didn't put in. So, that's his solution. He's ordering the parts to replace everything.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield is not difficult. I just go online and request a service request. I've never had any real problem with them. But with this latest claim, it's a little bit aggravating because over a period of time, we lost some food. And each time, it cost me $75. So now, I put out $200-some to fix a problem that wasn't fixed to begin with. I don't appreciate that. Other than that, I've had a good experience with American Home Shield.

    The original company out of Dallas came down in an attempt to fix the air conditioner. They supposedly vacuumed out the lines but he did not do that. The water backed up and it leaked like crazy down through the light fixture in our master bedroom closet including the sheet rock. Above the sheet rock, the light fixture itself couldn't be used. I took pictures of it. There was about 14-inch circle of heavy black and green mold. I called back and the company in Dallas was gonna send the same guy out to fix it. I said he didn't know that much when he was there before and he definitely caused some problems. I threw in an extra 100 bucks and got another company out. Kelly Brothers came out, made an assessment and disconnected the light fixture. They were responsive and helped us out. They eventually solved the problem and I haven't had any problem with leaking water since then.

    They said I could go back to American Home Shield. I talked to two or three levels in American Home Shield and apparently, the fine print says that according to the contract with the company in Dallas, they're not responsible for any water damage. I'm not ignorant on several things, but I found myself apparently ignorant on this one. I've done a lot of contracts, written them myself or signed them over the years. American Home Shield needs to make sure that their customers are doubly made aware that they're not responsible for any collateral damage. If somebody is walking through and repairing up in your attic and they put their foot through and fall, they're not responsible for it. But this is the second time we've done American Home Shield and I don't have any problem up to this point in time. As a matter of fact, we've had some other items fixed. Am I gonna continue to do American Home Shield? The answer is yes. They are incredible.

    My water bill came last month close to $600. I noticed my toilet was ghost flushing. I reported it to American Home Shield. American Plumbing came and they changed the toilet flapper. They said the issue was fixed. But it started again. So I called them and the second time they came, they said they have to see the issue. I told them that I couldn't show them since it was gonna be like one hour, two hour, three hour or four hour, and it was hard to show. They are a plumbing company and they should know. This is a very general problem. If you check Google, it is very general problem for other people too.

    The guy was very rude and he started to argue with me. He said he had to see and I told him to look at my report and what I mentioned and I couldn't show him. After that, they left. I called every day to them and I never heard from them. I left multiple message. Every day I left one message and nobody called me to give me the status. So I'm not happy with them. They are very unprofessional. This is not the way you treat the customer.

    I called American Home Shield yesterday and asked if they could update me of the status or give me some other vendor. They assigned the claim to a company and they called me to say they are coming on Thursday. The lady that called me said, "If you don't see the issue, we cannot fix." So I her I cannot show her and that she can come but I am not sure it's gonna flush in front of her.

    When I had an issue with my fridge not working, I had a great experience. Dudes were awesome. But with this plumbing claim, it's been more than a month since we called American Home Shield. My wife wanted it to get fixed because we have guests. Whenever guests come, we have to close the water. Otherwise it's gonna run all night and my water bill is gonna go up.

    The guy from Prodigy Appliance Repair was very professional and everything he did was great, but it didn't totally fix the problem. Our unit wasn't cooling and at first he thought it needed a compressor, but then he thought, “No, once it cools off, it'll be fine.” He said it needed a new thermostat and he did that. It worked for about a day and it's not coming on again. The AC is in a house we're moving into, and I'm only there half a day usually trying to get paint in the landing.

    I've had a million things going on and I haven't had time to call, but my experience would depend on how this next thing goes whenever I have them come back out, if they get the problem fixed. It would be nice if I didn't have to go through the whole process again, if they called to make sure everything was working within a week instead of me having to go back, make a whole other claim and pay another $125. For me, I get agitated after a while and I would just pay for the repair. It's probably not fair to American Home Shield because then, I’m like, “Well, that didn’t work. I wouldn’t get them."

    Our AC was low on freon and it was leaking. AC Wizard did something where the valve covers on where you put the Freon in. They used the Teflon tape and didn't get any parts. But they said that was where the leak was and with the tape and the new nuts on it, it wasn't leaking anymore. The AC seems to be okay right now. This is the first air conditioning call I've had in a while and the people were fine. They showed up when they were supposed to and they had their mask. They’re professional, put the covers on their shoes when they came in the house. My swimming pool call was the last claim I had and it worked out terrific.     When I've had Home Shield come out to check the furnace as it stopped working, they sent people out, and I tried to explain to the people that it's a radiator system that heats the floor of the house. Then they said they didn't know how to do it. But Home Shield still charged me. They also sent someone that said I didn't do this and that, and that someone wrote it to the paper and Home Shield wouldn't cover it. I find it very frustrating that I've paid, I've been in the system for over 10 years with two properties under them, I got a problem, and then they said they would not fix it or that I needed to buy another furnace. I don't call them for a lot of stuff. I can never get them on the phone.

    Home Shield should make sure that the people they're sending out understand it. They should also try to be in some way focus on their customer. I understand people are in business to make money. But they also want loyalty to the people that continue to them. They replaced a ceiling fan in my house and water heater some years back. Then recently, the toilet wouldn't stop leaking even though I tried to fix it. C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came and fixed it. They did a really good job. They said that it is guaranteed for at least 30 days and if we have any more problems, we call them and let them know. I've never had a company that came out and said that to me. This was the first time.

    I've had American Home Shield for years and I've only had one issue, which was taken care of immediately. Last year, one of their subcontractors tried to sell me a contract with them, personally, for a new furnace when I had this coverage. I didn't bite, but it made me second guess that my coverage was good. My son-in-law took care of that. It was very unusual to have that happen and we called the warranty company and complained about it. Other than that, over the years, I've never had anything happen that I haven't expected. These places do the best they can with what they have. I don't expect miracles and I understand waiting.

    When I had my garbage disposal replaced some time ago, I filled out something online. The technician had the replacement when he came and he was a very nice guy. He also wore a mask and he seemed to know what he was doing. Everything was clean and tidy. The last contractor I had was for my old overhead light and he was okay. I work in home health and I wouldn't have let him in if he hadn't had a mask or I would have given him one. He came with one. The claim was for a new ballast in my kitchen and that's not what he does. Inside the light, there's a binding and it was very old and that wasn't replaced. He fixed the light though. The light works and that's all I needed.

    American Home Shield is doing what they said they would do. My experience with them has been great. They do provide service they said they're gonna provide. It's timely. It's easy. It's worth it. Recently, my air went out. It was still blowing but not cold air. It was hot and unbearable so I needed to call American Home Shield and get it fixed. It was a Wednesday or a Thursday that I called but the contractor couldn't get to me until that Monday. They had to come out a couple of times. The first time, the guy said it was the capacitor and that my drain was clogged up. It wasn't draining. He said he replaced the capacitor and flushed it out. A few days later, it stopped working again. He said that I had a faulty float valve. He kind of rigged it and made it work for a couple of days so he could get the part in. But they repaired the existing unit and when I left for work, it was working fine.

    I had a plumbing issue where The Clogfather came out. The techs did a very good job and they were very professional. They shut off all the water then they changed out the faucet. They put one of those new sprayer things in, too. They told me what they were doing and while they were here, they had masks and observed distancing. And since the service, everything's been fine. But when our washer broke down, the techs couldn't fix it because something was wrong with the drum. It was bent or something. So we had to buy a new one, then my wife sent all the paperwork to get some money back. Then, they said they didn't get the paperwork, so she resubmitted it. That was about four weeks ago and now we're just waiting to hear from them. Other than that, AHS has been really good with us in stuff that happened that we needed the warranty for. For instance, they always fixed our air conditioner and we've always been satisfied with the service.

    Everything went well with my recent claim with AHS regarding the AC unit. The contractor was out here the same day that I called that morning. He happened to be making a run out this way for another call and he just came right out and did it that same day that I called it in. He did great. It was determined that it needed a fan motor. The contractor happened to have a motor with him that he put on there. It’s been working ever since.

    Total Air Care got scheduled within the week from submitting the claim. They came out pretty quickly and they weere great. The tech also wore a mask. The tech said that a little round thing in the AC that transfers power from one note to another was bad. He actually had that part on him. Total Air Care did good. It seems that AC is working fine.     The company who came out for the AC did an excellent job but their hands were tied with what they could do because of the red tape that American Home Shield has with fixing things. You can't fix something that isn't broken so they had to try to fix one thing. The AC kept freezing up so they would have to try one scenario to see if that would fix it. Then, when it froze up again, we had to call them back. If somebody else would have come out, they would have changed three things all at one time. But the contractor had to take the steps. So the first thing they did was fill it up with the coolant.

    The next time they came out, I told them that the fan had kept quitting on the air conditioner. It had to be broken in front of their eyes, even though we were seeing the fan freeze up and quit spinning. While they were there, it wasn't doing that so they couldn't fix it because they couldn't view that problem. So, I had to take a video of it, so that they could see that it wasn't working. Finally, when it completely broke, they could replace it. But that still didn't fix the freezing up issue. So, they had to come back out when it froze up again.

    I'm grateful that I had the warranty but it was a very lengthy process where if I didn't have it, maybe all those issues could have been addressed at one time, instead of being dragged out all through summer. It cost me having to go get a window air conditioner unit because I didn't trust the AC unit on the house. I still don't trust the AC unit. It hasn't frozen up since the last time they were there but I don't really know that we haven't just put a Band-aid on another problem.

    I had drainage problems in the house when we first got in there and I learned the red tape process. I had to be very specific about every little detail that I wanted somebody to come out because when I had plumbers come out the first time, they said that I didn't tell them that the toilet wasn't flushing correctly. I only said that the pipe was clogged so, they could only come out and check the pipe. The workers who come out can only address the issue that a homeowner calls in and it hinders them. Until you're with the company for a while, you don't understand that red tape or if you're using the warranty company, you don't learn that process until almost the end of your year.

    The air conditioner is an air conditioner-heater unit and we had some issues last year with the heater. My warranty is almost ready to expire and I was thinking that we would probably just bandage it this whole year. And at the end of the year, something's gonna happen and I'm gonna be out money when this unit probably should have been replaced. When when we got the warranty, if anything was gonna go wrong with this unit, I was gonna be taken care of but AHS have not. They bandage everything until you're out of warranty or until you buy another warranty for the next year. We thought that this heater-air conditioner was in a lot better condition because we had somebody look at it before we bought the house and we were told it was gonna last. But we had so many issues with it. I've already started saving to try to be prepared for next year because I do not think it's gonna last.

    AHS is making a lot of money and you can't talk to anybody. Everything is automated or through the computer. Even when my daughter was trying to get ahold of them to say what the air conditioner repairman said and ask when we could get it fixed, she could not get ahold of anybody. We would have to stay on hold for three hours to get through to a customer representative. Nobody has three hours to sit on hold. My daughter did it once and I did it once, just to get ahold of them and ask where we were with this and if would get it fixed. We never got anywhere.

    That should not all fall on American Home Shield but they're selling that when you buy a warranty with a home and if something major went wrong, you have the comfort of knowing that they're standing behind you. I bought that house the same time that my daughter bought another house and we both have the same warranty. Her air conditioner completely quit in the middle of summer this year. The same company came to fix it and they said it was gonna be $2,000 to do a new fix. AHS did not stand behind them. They said it was probably gonna be 8 to 12 weeks before they would get an answer if it was gonna get fixed. My daughter and her husband had to take out a loan to get a new air conditioner system for their house because they had four kids in the house.

    American Home Shield ended up paying them $507 since they went ahead and bought a new unit. Their unit was dead and AHS should have replaced their unit but they didn't. It's cut and dry, especially in my daughter's instance, where the unit was done. The $2,000 part to get it running again is not worth it. American Home Shield should have been there saying that they should get her a new unit.

    AHS has been super prompt and fair. Also, their website is really solid. I've gotten what I've asked for. We had issues with the HVAC and the pool heater. The HVAC was covered and the pool heater was not. For the pool heater, I called the contractor back and told them we still needed it fixed even though it's not covered and I never heard back.     The experience worked out really well. Beacon Appliance was great and the service from American Home Shield was very good. In the past, I've had a lot of difficulties. To talk to anybody on the phone, you have to wait 45, 50 minutes. The last two phone calls I made, I got through in eight minutes. They mentioned that perhaps it's because they have been trying to hire more people. So, it changed from that point. I'm hoping that the service will be better if I have a need. I have some unfinished issues, and in the past, it's been impossible to get ahold of anybody to get it taken care of. The main thing is the accessibility or being able to take the phone calls with a human being quickly.

    I've not had any problems with American Home Shield other than every year, you pay more for the service call. Once in a while, you'll get a vendor that's not as prepared to do the job. But most of the time, if I've had 10 claims, eight times, I'm very satisfied. That's a pretty good record. Recently, the transformer burnt out on the air handler which was a symptom of the problem. It was a short in the wiring that goes to the thermostat and the contractor handled it very well. They saw the problem, figured out the transformer was burnt out and replaced it. But they immediately saw that it was drawing too much current and found the short and fixed it.

    Whenever I would use the left sink in the kitchen, the water would run out of the piping underneath and the upstairs sink was clogged. I run a child care service here so I need both the sinks to be working properly. The woman at Home Shield who made the order said she had to note that I want something in the kitchen and something in the upstairs. When I made the appointment, I was told the contractors had 24 hours and at that time, I was trying to get them out here for the 24 hours. The rep said if they can't get it, I have the right to ask for a different contractor so I did.

    When that next appointment came, they told me it would either be that Thursday or Friday. They confirmed it was Friday and that was when the man came out. A-1 Affordable Plumbing came out but they didn't see that I had two issues. But the guy was professional. He looked at the issue and explained afterwards what he did. I was pleased with him. The drain and clog that was upstairs have been resolved and there's no water dripping underneath my kitchen sink. This repair allowed me to have faith and continuous day-to-day usage of my sink, safety for my children in using it, safety for me and cooking.

    We had two different AC claims. One of them was a unit that had coils leaking and it wouldn't hold Freon and it wasn't working. American Home Shield paid a little bit but I ended up paying a ton to completely replace the HVAC system. Then the second claim was for a blower motor thing that was dead. We also thought about replacing the whole system but we didn't. So we did a repair on that one by replacing the compressor motor.

    My air conditioner wasn't working but now it's working. So, it’s good. I’m very pleased with A-US Air but I’m not happy at all with American Home Shield. I'm not gonna renew. Their policy doesn't pay to replace the system no matter how old and broken down it is. They will keep putting a band-aid on it even though the air conditioner is 20 years old and the parts are no longer available. The system really begs to be replaced but they still will only do a repair. So, their contract is worthless.

    I called American Home Shield because I had issues in the house. AHS was kinda grouping the issues as to who should see them. One thing that was wrong was my stovetop or range as the burners that sit on top of an island were not working. Our gas was working and so was our electric in the house. Our electric bill and our gas bill were been paid as well. I also told AHS about the fact that I had a leak or I had something that was showing itself on the floor. It was in front of the dishwasher but our I didn't say that the dishwasher wasn't working.

    I don't know who should come for what and I rely on AHS. I tell them what the problem is and they choose. The person with AHS said they would get an appliance guy out. But prior to that, an electrician was coming as well. He helped me with the things that needed to be fixed and directed me where I needed maybe a battery. When the appliance guy came, he said the issue was electrical and all I needed was for an electrician to look at the socket and fix that. He said he would have the order transferred because that should have been an electrical issue. But the electrician was just here. AHS sent an appliance guy and I waited for him never thinking that maybe I should have had the electrician come. But technicians can't look at anything that isn't on their list.

    This is more a problem for AHS. They should first say, “Since that uses electricity, let’s make sure that the electrician looks at that first since he's coming for a bunch of things.” It's the same with the thing on the floor. They should have never sent the appliance guy. He didn't really accomplish anything except to say that it was the job of the other two people who were already here.

    One time we had an Emeril oven that wasn't working. It was truly the oven. But because of the way it is, everything runs off of the gas. The gas and the electric weren't working on it. If you understand the way these things go, you would understand that the electric was crucial to the fan working on the stovetop and the gas turning on. But AHS didn't understand that or didn't think of that. It was not One Way Electric’s fault. It was the fact that someone needed to understand that an electrician should have been called about the stovetop.

    At this point, the electrical guy, One Way, hasn't been back because they said they are waiting to find out that it's okay for them to come back. We're still lighting the range with a gaslighter. I called the contractor early Monday last week. I called the week before too because this is something we need and because all my husband's cooking is stinky food and it sticks up the house. I hate that. I need to be able to get the fan on. I also texted the contractor last week asking them to call me is they haven't heard from American Home Shield on Friday. He said he would follow up. He’s a nice guy and he was very helpful in the house. He just, wants to be paid for what he does.

    We have anotehr house that's gonna be sold within a month. I have been carrying American Home Shield on that for a year and a half without anybody living in it. It's probably silly because nothing’s been broken and nothing's even gonna be broken since we haven't used it. It certainly cost us a lot of money. But it's one of those things. I would love it if as an excellent customer for all these years, AHS could give me a few months back on that because I did it just because there is peace of mind.

    When you're living in a house, it's great to have a warranty. I had the plumber who unclogged some drains that were a problem. It wasn't even a big deal but it was to us like when we're brushing our teeth and the water doesn't go down properly. Why do we have to live like that? It's a minor inconvenience, but nonetheless an inconvenience.

    There was also the case where the fella with One Way Electric came out and we couldn't get the fan and the light to work properly. He showed me the battery that needed to go into my thing and he explained to me how the mechanics of this work. Now, my son has a light so he can walk into his room and get his homework done. If he wants to turn on or turn off his fan, he can. That sounds very small but that is a huge help. My husband would never get around to doing that as he's not an electrician. That was a benefit being able to do that. It's an expensive benefit to some people but we can afford it. You give up something else to have that convenience.

    We had an experience before where it cost us an extra 5,000 to 7,000 because a plumber didn't wanna do his job. He told me the wrong thing because he didn't wanna deal with a sewage issue. I didn't understand how it all worked. When we sold the house, he gave the wrong information because it was underneath the house.

    I like American Home Shield although it’s been disappointing in some ways and it's been a waste in some ways. But it's been a great peace of mind. I appreciate the fact that when it works, it works well. There are times when the contractors either don't want to approach an issue, they don't know how, or they don't wanna do it. Sometimes it really puts the customer in a bad spot, but I'm relying on them as the professional to do what they're obligated to do and to do what is in my best interest.

    The faucet was dripping and I fixed it myself for $25. It worked perfect. My granddaughter came and she turned it on. It broke so I called American Home Shield. APC Plumbing came out and put a new one in and cleaned out the faucet. It was within a day or so and it works great now. The guy was good. He came out, put on his booties and he had on his mask. He was timely. The claim worked out fine and I was happy about it. In fact, I placed another order last Saturday and they came out Monday. It was for my swamp cooler. Something happened there and he had to replace the pump. But now the water is running off the roof so something's wrong with the float.

    Our pool light quit working and we had a man to come out and change it. It burned out. My husband dealt with the technician and he was very happy with the service. The technician said that there was something wrong with the GFI switches in the pump house and so we probably needed a GFI switch. My husband changed out the GFI switch and it still wasn't working. So we thought that there was something wrong with the line that ran to it. Some wire had broken there and the technician repaired the wire.

    There were also a couple of places that he repaired the wiring. We had some extensive remodeling done to our backyard five years ago. Then there was a plug by a built-in barbecue that we had removed. Evidently, the place where that wire hooked up with the other wires had deteriorated and he fixed that connecting wire up there. Everything is perfect now. In fact, when he was here, everything instantly began working. Even the light. We had purchased a replacement light already and we were able to return the light because all of our electric was working.

    Every time we've called American Home Shield, we've had exactly the same kind of service but once where a guy didn't fix things. AHS had someone else come out instantly and it was repaired. We've always been happy with their service. I rarely recommend anything to anybody because things can be different for one person than they are for another. But we do recommend American Home Shield to people all the time. It's a wise investment. You’d save yourself a lot of money when you have somebody to rely on for fixing things.

    I had a leak issue with my garbage disposal. I went online and followed the prompt. I put in the issue and then I received a call back within 24 hours with the name of the company. The American Home Shield agent said that that the person was supposed to arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 the following day. The service made by Joy Plumbing was great. It was quick and easy. With everything with the coronavirus, the tech came in wearing his face mask and gloves. I was also surprised that he wore booties. He also cleaned up after himself.

    The garbage disposal has been functioning fine. The repair helped a lot. I didn't have to buy anything. I didn't have to go out looking for nobody. It was easy. I haven't had much of a hassle with American Home Shield. On things that I expected to be covered, it was covered. It was quick. I didn't have to go back and forth. I didn't have to contact three different parties just to get stuff done. I just had to contact them and they reached out to everybody else.

    About four weeks ago, I had a washer and a dryer repaired. The young man who came out was able to complete the job the first time. He ordered the part for both the washer and the dryer. He fixed the washer. It's working very well. The dryer worked well for a couple of weeks but it started having problems again. The dryer cuts off before the cycle ends and it's not drying the clothes.

    I was trying to call to get someone to come out here and fix the dryer. I talked to this foreign lady about three times. I was trying to tell the lady that the dryer was not working properly and she appeared to not understand what I was saying. She interrupted me as I was talking and I just said okay while not understanding the words that she was saying. When I asked to speak to someone I could understand, we were automatically disconnected. She just hung up on me. When I called right back, she answered the phone again. She said she was gonna call me back in 15 minutes but that call never came back.

    I went on and just made a new order and I paid the $100 even though I shouldn't have to pay another $100 to get a person out there. I just want someone to come out and fix the dryer and I'm just accepting whatever I can get to get it fixed. Sears would be coming by to do that. I don't mind if I have to pay another $100 for someone to come out and fix my dryer. But I don't think it's in my contract because I have a combo. I tried to get the best that I could with American Home Shield. I had it before and it was great. But somehow, it's not working right now. It's not something I will recommend to someone.

    I'm very unhappy with American Home Shield. The contractors have always been very good though. They know what they're doing. When the contractor came out to fix the washing machine this time, he said something had broken the washing machine while it was spinning. He said, "It's totally destroyed. I can't repair it. They're gonna have to replace it." He said, "They're gonna be emailing you."

    They said that they were emailing us and were keeping us up to date but we're not receiving anything. I get their emails all the time. I got an invoice from them saying payment's due, but it's on auto pay. I can log on and it says my claim has been settled and it's closed. But when we call to get ahold of someone, we get somebody in India with chickens clucking in the background and we can't talk to anybody that we could really understand. Nothing's being done. So we've been weeks without a washing machine. We went and got another one. Now, I don't want them to fix the old washer, I just want them to give me money.

    Submitting claims with AHS has been simple. Every time we've submitted a claim, it's been taken care of. But this time, it's been the most difficult to get ahold of anybody. It just seems to be a never-ending process. Other than not being able to get ahold of them and wait for an hour online, they say they'll call you back. But when they call you back, it's somebody you can't understand and knows nothing. You have to re-explain the entire situation again. They can't just put somebody on our claim. I really wish they had let the repairman deal with it because the repair person knows what's going on. If the repairman says, "Send a washing machine," just send the stinking washing machine and let him put it in. Don't try to yank me around with emails for weeks.

    I've had American Home Shield since I've been in Georgia and it's been seven years. They what they say they're gonna do. I filed a claim for the dryer that was not working by phone and I got a recording. I didn't like that. I wanted to talk to a representative but I don't know how you get past the recording to do that. But the contractor came and he'd been here before 'cause I've had three other occasions with the same dryer and the same company. I didn't understand quite what he was saying. He had a heavy accent. But he was professional. He did what he was supposed to do and ordered a part but it hasn't come in yet.

    In my basement, there's the main water line that comes into the house. That pipe is inside a PVC pipe that goes through the concrete slab for the foundation of my house. In my basement wall where the PVC pipe is, not the pipe that runs through the bigger PVC pipe but the pipe that runs through the concrete slab, there was water leaking from the crevice in the wall. Water had worked its way around the cracks and crevices of the PVC pipe so no pipe was leaking. The water was coming in from the ground around that pipe where it comes through my wall. A couple weeks ago when we got all that rain, there was a lot of water. It was shooting out really bad. Since it rained, I noticed that there was a slight drip. The more it rained, the more accumulation. The wetter my yard was, the longer it took that water to run off and dry out.

    I called American Home Shield and C Mayes Plumbing came out. The guy looked at it and said, "We don't do this. You need a basement sealing company." Before he left, he said he would let American Home Shield know what his recommendation was. But apparently, he didn't do that because two days later, I started calling American Home Shield. The rep said the guy didn't tell them anything. The first time they tried to call them, it was on a weekend. I called back again during the week. They called. They got the voicemail and couldn't get through. Then I called again. I had three calls and thought they couldn't get ahold of him. I had his number so I texted, "Hey, can you call American Home Shield and let them know what you recommend?" There was no response from Robert from C Mayes Plumbing. Maybe American Home Shield needs to reevaluate that relationship.

    In the meantime, my wall was still leaking so I called another plumber, John C. Flood Plumbers, because I can't have water running into my basement. The other plumber came out and told me how they will fix it. But what they will have to do was they will have to dig up my yard in the front where the pipe comes out and waterproof around the outside wall to keep the water from coming through. I have somebody else coming out tomorrow that's gonna give me the full price of what everything costs including digging up the pipe in my yard.

    American Home Shield been has been good. But at the same time, I don't know if it was like a call center but I don't think the person was familiar. One time I called them on a Saturday morning. She said she would follow through and would call them back but a whole week went by. That was a whole week to call them during the week during normal working hours.

    Earlier this year, I used American Home Shield to send a plumber out because my sewage ejector pump in my basement stopped working. It got a backlog. It started to flood a little bit and you could tell the water was rising around it. The plumber came out and cleared out the clog in it. But one of the things they noticed about my sewage ejector pump was whoever installed it with the house didn't put the vent pipe on it. It's supposed to have two pipes. One that sucks the sewage out and another one to vent the gas off of it. They said, "You really need this or your pump is gonna get messed up." They did the same thing and said, "We'll let American Home Shield know that you probably need a gas pipe to run off on your sewage ejector pump." They gave me a little price quote. They said they would let American Home Shield know but that was the last I heard about that.

    Submitting the claim to American Home Shield is not hard but it's tricky to figure out what's covered or what's not. So, we have to call several times to figure that out. If the claim is something simple, I usually do it online but for the AC, I always have to call. The contractor was able to make the fix but we had to pay out of our pockets. We’ve had AHS for several years and the premium got more and more expensive but the coverage is less and less. So, I’ve considered to cancel my service at this point. It's almost like nothing it covers is worth it. If it's something simple like changing the toilet, I still have to pay the $75 deductible.

    The first Sears guy that came out couldn't figure out what was wrong with the switch inside the fridge. Then, we figured it out together, and he ordered the part and said he's gotta come back in two weeks. We'd have to give the part a week to come because it's coming directly to our house. So, it came. Another guy came out two weeks later to tell me that the guy had ordered the wrong parts. So, now, we gotta wait another two weeks for them to order the part and come in and for him to come back and fit it.

    There was no communication from Sears. They just ordered the part, it came, they turned up when they said it was a wrong part. The guy wasn't apologetic either. He said, “I couldn’t understand why your refrigerator is silver and they send a white one. And yeah, it doesn't fit. It's the wrong part.” Then, he went on to say, “Oh, we're having trouble getting parts and maybe they just thought they'd send you something or send you nothing.” I said, “Well, if it's not going to work, there's no point in sending something.” He just said, “Yeah, I'm gonna have to come back.” He did call to say he was on his way the first time, but we didn't get a call the second time. They came back and fixed it. It was an annoying problem. It was the switch inside the fridge that if you didn't slam it shut, it would keep beeping, saying that the door was open. So, as long as you slammed it shut, it was fine. So, it wasn't as if it was a major problem.

    As far as American Home Shield, some of their callers' English isn't very good. I had to have a callout to my furnace, and they booked the wrong contractor. I asked if it could be Weathervane because that's who we deal with and we got a service through them. But because it was something that had gone wrong with it, we couldn't just call Weathervane. We have to come through American Home Shield. Weathervane said, “Oh, you can ask for us.” So, I asked for them, and they said somebody will contact me within the next 24 hours. Three days went by and nobody had contacted me. So, I called back and they said, “Oh, yes. Such and such company is coming out and they're coming out on this day.” I said, “Well, we wanted Weathervane.” They said, “Oh, well, we're going to have to cancel it, but you're going to have to pay again. But we will issue a refund.” It seemed to be really messy.

    The person I was talking to at the very beginning, her English wasn't very good. I've got an accent, too, so I don't think she could grasp what I was saying. That was a little irritating. That was the second time. I've had issues and each time, it was with the furnace. Last time, they charged me and then nobody came out. When I called them, they said that they never received the payment, so they weren't coming out. This was a couple of years ago. So, there seems to be a communication issue.

    The guy was fine. He got the air conditioning issue fixed. So far, American Home Shield is good. I had them for years and I went with another company because there were a lot of things that American Home Shield didn't cover that I felt should’ve been covered. For instance, my garbage disposal was old and rusty. The guy took it out then told American Home Shield that it was installed improperly. He charged me $300 to put it back together which I had to pay. I went to Home Depot and saw the exact model for $100. When they say improperly installed, maybe American Home Shield needs to find out how they're saying that. That was not the first time I had someone come out and say something was improperly installed. They did the same thing with my ceiling fan. It fell out of the ceiling because it was rotten up there. The person I had to have come out to fix it for me said, “No, it's not. Everything's right here.” That person wanted me to pay them for a new fan and install it.

    I also had a problem with my filter on my pool. The piping that comes into it, when you replace that one piece, you have to go back and back and back to replace all of it and American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. They said they don't replace pipes. That's part of what they took off to replace the part that was leaking so they're all connected. They’re glued together so they had to bring it in. But I had to pay for that over and above. I complained about that but American Home Shield wouldn't pay for it.

    A&R could not fix it the issue so American Home Shield offered to pay out $1,200 something. We had to go buy a new one in the meantime which we did. It takes a lot to get something out of American Home Shield. I called for two and a half hours. I like to talk to somebody in the United States when I have a problem and not wait for two and a half hours on my phone ‘cause it's hard to do when I'm working. But when I called the Philippines to find out where my check is ‘cause it said it’d be 10 to 14 days, I couldn't understand the rep very well. My husband finally called and waited online for about an hour and 20 minutes and got ahold of someone in Arizona. She said that the check hadn't even been cut yet. That gal in the Philippines could have seen that and told me that, but she didn't. So it's a runaround. If it's American Home Shield, they should have people in America talking to you, or call it Philippines Home Shield ‘cause it just doesn't make sense.

    I’ve always had American Home Shield. I've probably had it 20 years. I had it in my old house and I've had it in my new house. It's been beneficial for me because I have saved my gas top. They were gonna give me a gas top that didn't fit into my opening of my range. They kept fighting and I had to fight and fight for weeks for that. Then my whole house fan went out. They did replace that after I did much research on trying to find a new motor for them. I had to kinda do my homework. Other than that, everything else has been replaced though it doesn't pay every month I'm paying. I've given them a lot of money so what I'm hoping for is when my air conditioning goes out someday, they will be helpful and cover that. I’m thinking maybe I should cancel and maybe I'm wasting my money but it’s for my peace of mind.

    We like RG Plumbing & Rooter and they’ve come out a couple of times. The last one was when we had a couple of toilets that were constantly backing up or overflowing. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield through the dashboard. I like doing things online so that worked well for me. I was told that the contractor would be in touch with me within 24 hours but they contacted me the same day. The contractor said that part of the problem was the settling of the home and the pipes, the size of the toilet and the openings. When they came out before, he mentioned some of this to us. We're still having a problem. He said that if it continues, we should look into our policy and maybe we could do a camera or something down the line. Without ripping out plumbing and redoing it, it’s something we're gonna have to learn to live with.

    We're going through an issue with a microwave that caught on fire. AHS sent someone out and he told us he was gonna recommend replacement. Then all of a sudden, it's being repaired and no one's following up with me. No one from American Home Shield was returning calls when they promised me they would. It was two weeks before we finally got approval for replacement because we found out that the parts were never even researched. So right now, American Home Shield is not ranked high with me. I've liked most of the vendors that we've worked with but I'm kind of iffy on whether or not we'll be renewing.

    Everything with True Master went great. My mother-in-law said the guy came in with a mask on and was clean. We keep a bottle of hand cleaner right by the door and the guy cleaned his hands and told her what he had to do. He worked on it for about 2.5 hours then he ran into a problem. He called somebody 'cause he was on the phone. He actually ran an ohm test on a wire that goes from the outside condenser up to the actual control board and found a break in the line and fixed that. That was the whole thing. It was just a little piece that was rubbing on a piece of metal flashing. But the guy did a great job. He checked the whole system out and made sure everything was all nice and clean.

    American Home Shield is great. I'm buying another house right now and I'm gonna transfer American Home Shield over to that one. I've done claims online and I have called before. It's so easy. On the phone, you just log in and click on what your problem is. But American Home Shield could improve on their response time. The problem is from the time you submit the claim 'til the actual contractor calls, sometimes, that goes two, three days before you get a call. Depending on how busy the contractors are, it could be two, three days before they come out.

    The motor went out and Smart Doors came out. It was cheaper to get a whole new unit than to try to replace the motor but it took longer than anticipated. They had to contact Home Shield and get their authority to move forward. The tech let them know that it had a couple of problems but that it was his recommendation that the whole unit be replaced. Then, he called me back and said that he had to order the parts. When the parts came in, he gave me a call and scheduled with us. They came back out and installed the unit three days later. It's been working fine. I had some issues with Home Shield before on some things, but this particular service went really well.

    Home Shield could make sure sure that when people are renewing their contract, they know what they have and what they don't. That's very important because when a person that believes he's covered on one thing and he's not, it can get frustrating. And they could make sure that they answer the questions. Any other things that we have covered and what we would need to do if we needed to upgrade or whatnot because I don't think that's clearly communicated.

They came here for two accounts. They came here the very first time, but there was a family issue. They were here to help me with that. And then they came the second time and they were able to get the job done within that day. They communicated very well what they were doing. They walked in and out. It was all very well and I trusted them. They were able to get the job done.

    When we bought the home, they already had Home Shield. So, “Okay. Sure. Why not give it a chance?” When it comes to air condition, they don't cover a whole lot. I live in South Louisiana so air condition is very important to us. But for the most part, we continued to stay with them. In general, their service is fine. Whenever we have a problem, like with the dishwasher, which made a weird noise like a high pitch sometimes while the cycle goes so I wasn't sure what it was about. We had an issue with a dryer before and Home Shield covered it. We also had an issue with the washing machine. They also covered it. They couldn't fix it. So, due to the normal wear and tear, we got a new washing machine. There was also a bathtub issue, the drainage and stuff like plumbing. Recently, our disposal wasn’t working.     Our pressure relief valve was malfunctioning for the house so we had to get somebody out to double-check it and make sure that it was malfunctioning. American Home Shield sent somebody out but I ended up calling twice to try to get them to fax the claim over to the plumber to say that it was the pressure relief valve. Finally, the plumber ended up calling his vice president at corporate and getting him to call somebody he knows at American Home Shield to get somebody out here. So, it was like a three-week wait for us to get somebody out here. That was not a pleasant experience. But the contractors were very professional and very good.

    The communication system needs to improve on their end. The people are very professional but the training needs to be brought up a little bit more. They have to make sure the customer gets what they want and what they’re paying for. I talked to two people and both said they were going to fax it. I talked to the plumber a couple days later, both times, and he never got anything from them so he was frustrated. He could tell I was also getting frustrated. If a pipe burst in the house because the pressure coming into the house is so great, American Home Shield is just gonna say, "We're sorry. The pressure was too great." I'm not thrilled with it but I was thrilled when the plumber that came out and with what they did. They got on it right away and that's the important part. We just put the work order in to get the pressure relief valve replaced. I'm hoping this time, because it's the same thing, we're not gonna have to go through this all over again.

    Fire & Ice Heating did well with our HVAC system. We have central air with the air handler downstairs in the basement and the condensation pump wasn't working. When our AC would be on, it wouldn't get rid of the condensation it was producing, so it was cool around the base of the air handler. I knew that was the part that needed to be replaced, so when the technician called to schedule the appointment, I let him know to bring one. He had the part with him and he was able to replace it right away. He was very nice.

    Our air conditioning was not working and I did the request online. It was 125 for someone to come out and when the guy came out, he told me what the problem was. He then went to work and fixed it. He had the parts with him on-hand and it was great. The fix worked for a couple of days and then he came back out because the fan motor inside the air conditioning unit went out. He then replaced the fan motor outside on the air conditioning unit.

    The modulator in the fan in the attic went out too, and he came back and replaced that as well. We’re very happy with him coming out and fixing it up without any extra charges. I also did a claim a couple of years ago with our heater and American Home Shield has been good for us. My sister-in-law is gonna go with American Home Shield because of the way they've been with us.

    Thus far, we've had three big deals. Our dishwasher went from, "Okay, it's running," to, "Nothing." It stopped working. We called Home Shield and they sent a tech from BRM Services who was good and got our dishwasher working. He got it done right away. He thought it wasn't that big of a deal, but it is when your dishwasher doesn't work.

    We also had a furnace issue in the middle of a big cold. And one year, we were coming back from Thanksgiving at my in-laws in Illinois. We had been gone for 10 days. We came back and our house smelled wretched. We opened and found that our fridge had died at that point. Everything that was in our fridge, and more importantly, everything that was in our freezer, had been sitting cooking for up to 10 days. It smelled so bad. Home Shield sent somebody out and he was able to fix it that day. It was amazing. In both situations, I had huge doubts in my mind. I thought it would be huge dollar sign problems. I thought I would have to get a new fridge or a new furnace, but it was not the case. They were able to fix the situation right away.

    I had a claim with American Home Shield in August for the shower. You could turn it but it was a little difficult turning it off. It wasn't a smooth one and maybe one day, I wouldn't be able to get it off. So, I wanted someone to come out and look at it, and someone did come out. The guy who came and I discussed it, and he said that he would look for a new Kohler apparatus for it and he would get back with me. Two weeks later, he never got back with me and I never heard from AHS. So on Saturday, I called the person that came out and the company, and I couldn't get him. But the person who answers the phone said that they called him, and he said that he couldn't find the part and it was up to American Home Shield to let me know that he couldn't.

    I called American Home Shield the same day and I told them the same thing. They were supposed to reach out and find out what happened. The next day, I get a message from the same person, John. He was saying that he has an appointment set up for me but he has already been out here. I didn’t need another appointment set. It was very unsettling. I was waiting to find out what was what and no one reached out to me. I had to reach out to everybody. John said he couldn't find a new replacement. It's a Kohler and it's an old one. When I talked to the lady answering the phone, she said that to replace that, it’ll be $200. But I was not asking them that. I wanna know if they found the parts to replace it. I wouldn't let them come and replace it for me anyway.

    AHS said they would get with that company and discuss it. I haven't heard back from that rep and the only thing I got back was that AHS made a new claim for them to come back out. The rep said that AHS wouldn't replace it. Still, I will sit down and reach out to AHS. I’ve had other representatives come out and never had a problem. All I asked was that they get back with me, which was an easy thing. I should not have to track them down. I’m doing the work.

    American Home Shield is great. Every time I call them, they seem to come through and fix whatever the problem is. It's nice knowing that if something does go wrong in my home, they're gonna come through and get the problem fixed and addressed. I've never had a problem with them ever. Recently, there was a major water leak. I shut the water off to the house, called American Home Shield and they went through the process. I told them there's a local company here. Where we live is very rural. It's out of the way from everybody except for there's a couple of places in the Blythe area which is the next town over. I told them CB Plumbing's been to our house before. We've used them and they're good. I didn't know if they're on the plan or not and apparently, they are. American Home Shield got them right out there. They came and diagnosed and fixed the problem, and it was over with.

    The refrigerator was not working. I had this problem for a while and it went on for about two years. There was a lea in an area that was not accessible to repair. Savvy Tech had made me aware of the problems since the first time they came out. However, because of the way American Home Shield works, it's a process of elimination. They would say it's not cooling so the first thing to do is put more freon in it. If it works, then problem is solved. Where the leak was, it was so small that every time they would put freon, it would work for six, eight months then slowly, the leak would come back. The original guy did some tests on it and he said it was an internal leak. It was gonna continue to get fixed and it was what happened. With Savvy Tech, we tried with American Home Shield for them to warranty it out since last year, but they wouldn't.

    Savvy Tech was great. They would come out. Every time it would go bad, I would pay the deductible and I would request for Savvy Tech to come fix it because they're in my local area and the guy would come out the same day. The second time I did a claim, one of the companies called me and said they'd be there in a week. It was a refrigerator and I needed groceries. That was not gonna work so I called Savvy Tech and asked if they were available to which they said yes.

    I called American Home Shield and asked if they could request for Savvy Tech to come out 'cause they were available that day and I needed the refrigerator fixed. With American Home Shield, that was the same thing. They kept going on and on and I told them they couldn't keep doing it and to look at the history. It had been four times in the last year and a half that I've had the same issue. They sent out a representative from LG and he said the same thing. It's not repairable and there's no point in putting money into it. American Home Shield is good and they get the job done. They're an insurance company and that's how they make the money. In the three years that I've had them, I paid them $1,300 in premiums and I did four claims at $400. So I paid over $2,000 for something that could've probably been looked into more in-depth the first time.

    Now that I know, I will probably be canceling my American Home Shield. There was another company that they contacted that came out that I've been looking into. They offer the same thing and it's $10 cheaper a month. On their repairs, they offer six months of warranty. With American Home Shield, it's 30 days. The contractors come out and fix it, and if it breaks after 30 days, I have to pay them another deductible. With this other company, it's six months so the track record can continue. The guy had told me, "If we were to come out and within six months, it broke again, we would've came back out. If it would've kept pushing it after the third time, we would've replaced it right away. You would've never paid another deductible." With American Home Shield, I paid them a deductible every six months. That was kind of a hassle. They can look more into what the customer actually needs instead of just a quick fix.

    I was still satisfied with the job American Home Shield did. It was good sense of security knowing that it was there if something happened. Overall, it worked out. But at the end of the road, it turned out to be a little expensive because all my other appliances are still under warranty. Where you have an older home and everything might be old in the home, it's a good sense of security knowing that you have it. You pay 35, 40 bucks a month and you're good.

    They cashed me out on the refrigerator and I still haven't received the check but it won't be for another 20 days. But they cashed me out on what turned out to be not even 50% of what my refrigerator was worth. When they did the replacement, they said, "We're gonna replace it. However, the one that we're going to replace it with is out of stock so we're just gonna give you a cash-out option." The one they were gonna replace it with is a $3,600 refrigerator which makes sense because mine was over 4,000. However, they said, "We get a deal with the manufacturer. We buy it for 2,000 so we're gonna do 2,000 on that." It was a $1,200 dollar difference and they said, "We'll cash you out on what we would've paid." I ended up spending 1,400 on a refrigerator that was 4,000. I got under 2,000 back and I just bought another one that was 3,800. It was two calls in 45 days and it didn't cover me 'cause it was past the 30 days. So in those 45 days, I probably threw away $4,250.

    The water was not coming in where the ice was in our appliance. Sears had to order a part and it took two weeks to come in. The only problem was that that they originally scheduled two weeks out to come back and fix it. But the part came in on the same day, so I was not able to confirm that it was here until that day and they never told us to confirm that we had gotten the part. So, we ended up having Sears back two weeks later and they got it fixed. So we're good. They also wore masks when they came.

    We've had American Home Shield for two years and we've had to use it at least twice. Our payments are on automatic deduction. Then their price went up for about $20 a month and they didn't let me know. I just noticed it when I was doing my bank account. But I don't wanna be without that service 'cause our appliances are 10 years old.

    We filed a claim with American Home Shield for our oven that was not working. I called the toll number, went through the options and paid the $75 deductible to American Home Shield that we always pay. Just like the time I got somebody to come and fix my dishwasher, the main company, CK Appliance, called me. They said, “Here’s your time. We can come out and look at it.” I picked the time and the guy came out. He said, “It’s your electrical panel. I’m gonna put in a claim. In about two weeks, we’ll find out if American Home Shield’s gonna pay for it to get fixed or are they just gonna give you money to get a new oven."

    They deemed it that this was what the issue was. If it’s too much to fix it and get the part, then American Home Shield would give me money for the oven. If the part is doable and they wanna pay, then they pay. The guy got back in about two weeks and said, “No, they wanna just fix it.” He came back out and gave us the new dashboard panel for it. So that way, our oven turns on and functions. It works perfectly now. Even our fan now works. They didn’t work when we first got it. We tried to see if American Home Shield would fix the fan, but they said no since the oven works, the fan’s not necessary. A year later, the burners stopped working and the oven would turn on and off even when we weren't using it. Then it just stopped working.

    I’m glad everything works and it was a good process. It's just that with COVID, it makes it difficult to set appointments. It did take a while for the guy to get back to us about everything. My wife left a couple messages for him, and he'd get back a week later saying, “I just put the claim in,” or “They're now gonna fix it.” There was not a lot of follow up but it was still really good.

    Affordable Leak Detection came and they could see the water on the boards under the sink. They could tell that there had been a leak, but they could not reproduce the leak. They could not find the leak. So, they were not able to fix anything because no matter what they did, they couldn't make it leak again. They couldn’t figure out where it had leaked from.     I have about five accounts with American Home Shield. Everything is going well except the fact that I have had a stove that hasn't been working for three weeks. I called it in and it took forever to get someone. I don't like that. They should use that service where you press one and they'll call you back when an operator is free. To hold on the line for an hour is ridiculous. It's uncalled for when you're paying for a service every single month. They don't miss the payment but you can miss them trying to get service.

    The man came and did what he could do. But he couldn't even tell us what he thought was wrong with the oven and that was a problem for me. When you call a mechanic, he ought to know what the problem is. Then he said, "It's working now." We turned it on and it started doing the same identical thing as if he had never been in this house. It was a waste of my precious time. We called them back. I had to wait about three or four days for him to come back. I wanted to have it for the holidays and I couldn't get him. He came on Tuesday and said he needed to order a part. I am still without my oven and that's a problem to me. I'm paying every month and can't get into service. I don't appreciate that. They are also expensive. My son was telling me about the service he has. He doesn't have the issues I got and his is cheaper.

    Air Pro Master was prompt in coming out and fixing everything. I did the claim online at 8:00 in the morning, paid the $100 and then American Home Shield called me once I submitted that. Air Pro Master then came out the same day that afternoon and they had everything with them. They did a temporary install and then they came back, fixed the pedestal part, and then they came again and reinstalled it permanently.

    The person that they sent out was good. I don't know much about water heaters and never went through this before and he took his time in explaining some stuff. He even had me buy some PVC pipes to set up an extra little drain so that it would never ruin the pedestal that it’s on again. That was above and beyond what I expected. Considering the pandemic, he also was cautious as far as asking me what was acceptable and I was very comfortable with that part of it too.

    Things have been very positive with American Home Shield. Even when I first started with them and just asking information, they were very nice. With some agencies, I wonder how many hoops I have to go through and it wasn’t that way at all with American Home Shield. They were easy to do and they weren’t high-pressured too. We moved so I covered my old house where we moved from in case anybody would find something wrong, and then the new house.

    Here's my story. When I did a service request for my stove, they took down the information and I was very pleased. We looked at everything, including the garage and through the transmitters. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. We’re old and we didn’t think about looking in the back of the stove. We just think everybody knows more than we do.

    When the technician came out, he was very nice. He said, “Well, I hate to tell you this.” and I said, “Oh my god, we didn’t think of that.” We had somebody come out and replace our floors and they forgot to plug in the stove again. I was very upset with them. The guy said, “Well, you should’ve called me,” and I said, “Yeah, I would have if we would have known.” I paid $100 for nothing, but the technician for the stove said, “Well, as long as I’m here, why don’t I just see if there’s anything wrong or if I can fix anything.” He gave the stove a tune-up and everything went well.

    My experience with Foxcroft was wonderful. I don't think I've ever had a better service guy. He asked all the right questions, did his troubleshooting and fixed the part. The inside fan of the air handling unit would stay running. Even though the thermostat was set at 72, it would be 70 degrees in the house. It would send the signal but it would not shut the unit down at all. The gentleman that came out was really nice, really professional and very courteous. He let me know before he got there that he was gonna be coming within an hour. On his way, he called back again and said he'd be there in 10 minutes. Sometimes we get those windows so you definitely appreciate somebody letting you know that they're gonna be there at a certain time versus you having to sit there for hours and hours hoping that they come.

    I just renewed this year with American Home Shield and the claim process has been fine. I've had them out three times, twice with my AC unit. Contacting them even during COVID times has been pretty seamless. The last time that I had an issue with my AC unit, the fan motor went out on the inside. It was sometime in the heat of the summer and the communication on how long it would take to replace the fan could have been a bit better. Sourcing parts during COVID times has not been the best but I would have preferred that we had better communication during that time. I could have checked into a hotel because it was so hot during that period of time.

    I've bought and sold several houses. This is the first time I've ever taken a home warranty and it's been a pleasant experience for me. My wife and I were kinda on the fence as to whether or not we would renew this year. The price from when I got them with the purchase of my house on the front side versus the price to come back with them was considerably more. But the agent gave me 20% off so it made it reasonable for me to be able to make that investment in the house. I definitely would do it. I plan on doing the same thing next year as well. It's definitely worth an investment to do it. There is another home warranty company that's very similar to American Home Shield's name. The way that they handled things were far less of a quality than the way American Home Shield does so I'm appreciative that I have American Home Shield.

    I call in and speak with the rep when filing a claim. Once I get through, sometimes it seems to take a while to pull up the account for whatever reason. But I've managed to get through that. JP Plumbing & Heating came out recently and the guy was absolutely outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about him. If we have issues in the future, there is no question we'll specifically request him. He was a lifesaver for our situation with the water heater going out. It was 14 years old and parts just weren't available or accessible, so it was replaced.

    The only thing that could use some improvement is there seems to be a little bit of a lag or a disconnect from the time in which the claim is put in to the processing of the purchase orders. We needed that to be put in and the technician had already called and said that it needed to be done and it didn't happen. We thought we'd have the water heater replaced Friday. It took my wife calling into American Home Shield twice, which every time she called, rather than expedite things, they turn around and call the plumber who we had already spoken to. He said that he was just waiting for us to fill out and complete the purchase order. So, instead of having things processed Thursday and having a water heater Friday, we had to wait the whole weekend and have it done by Monday.

    Now, Ferguson had a hot water heater and it was supposed to be for a completely different customer. The technician went above and beyond and got them to issue and use that water heater for us because their install did not need to happen until Tuesday or Wednesday. Had he not done that, we would've waited literally an entire full week to have a stupid water heater replaced. So, that part of American Home Shield is very disappointing to me because there's somebody or a group that's not on the ball with getting those POs going and requested. But other than that, it's been fine. We're glad we have it. It's excellent peace of mind. The bottom line is the tech is who makes it happen, so there's a relationship that's been built. We're gonna continue that moving forward.

    When we moved in, the AC was just running and running and running, but it was not cooling. So before it blew up the unit, I went ahead and called AHS. They got me an appointment at a good time. The guy came out and he was amazing. He was prompt. He was very professional and very friendly. He took care of all of it without any issues and he did it in a timely manner. He asked that everybody wear a mask when he was in the house. So we wore a mask and we did what we needed to do and stepped out.

    He was prepared and he was absolutely great to work with. He also educated me on some other things that I needed to know about and basic maintenance of the unit. He also explained that one thing needed to be done that was not included and offered me the opportunity to have it done, which I did. I paid additional for it. There was no pressure or forcing, he just let me know and he was educating me. I appreciated that much because it helps me make sure that I keep my unit in good working condition and I don't have to call them again. I told him that I was gonna hang on to his name and number. So when I have to have service done again, I will call him. I was that pleased with them that I would want to contact him again and have them come out and work for me again.     I submitted my request at 8:30 PM the night before. The contractor was in touch with me a little bit after 8:00 AM the following morning, came and did the repair. The guy was a gentleman. I have called before and that was easy as well. I'm one of the lucky people that have gotten a warranty and I've needed it several times. That way, it's already been a good decision for me.     Appliance 911 was awesome. The guy was was polite and quick. He arrived quickly and I didn't have any trouble with him. He wore his mask the whole time. Everything works and that's what's important. He said the vent over the stove and the drawers for my fridge were not repairable so they need to be replaced. American Home Shield said they'll replace them. We emailed for a month or two but they never returned our emails. We kept on hold for hours on the phone trying to get through to them to find out how do we get that to happen. I have an email and it says that I'm approved but nothing. I'm very disappointed. American Home Shield seemed like a better deal and a better service but I was wrong. Their communication sucks. Having to sit on hold for hours in order to get anything done is ridiculous and you can't go through the website. You can email all you want but nobody ever answers.

    I've had some bad experiences using American Home Shield in the past, but on the most recent one, which was three weeks ago, it was great. They sent Heros Plumbing Service and the guy who came was really good. He had to diagnose the problem because we were getting shocked by either our garbage disposal or our dishwasher. He was able to diagnose the problem as a hose on the faucet that was spraying water underneath the cabinet and it was causing everything to short out. So, once he diagnosed the problem, he had to order the part and in less than a week, he came out and replaced it. It’s been fine ever since.     We had a new floor installed and the flooring people had to remove sort of a sink in our laundry room. They realized when they went to turn the water supply off to the sink that it was leaking. So they couldn't move the sink until the plumbing issue got fixed. So we had to call American Home Shield and then Clear Flow came out. They were here and fixed it very quickly.

    The claim submission is pretty simple. Initially, I would call in and then I figured out logging in and submitting tickets online through the website. I also purchased American Home Shield for my rental property. I like how I can pick which property I'm submitting claims against and picking which appliance needs repair. So it’s pretty straightforward and simple. The technology is there but some of the contractors that are selected are not always the best quality and we're forced to work with them because that's who American Home Shield’s working with.

    Knowing what's covered as far as inside repairs versus outside repairs is a good for a new home warranty customer to know. I figured that all plumbing issues could be covered by AHS. But I realized that heating and HVAC could be covered but if it was exterior to the house, it might not be covered. So if I had a leaky exterior faucet, that wasn't covered ‘cause it was outside the house. It was a surprise to me that it wasn't covered. I also had an HVAC issue and there was an external exhaust broken down. That exhaust wasn't covered because it was exterior to the house.

    I had broken pipes and AHS handled my claim well. The only issue that I have with them is that they typically revert to one particular contractor that is usually booked out for days on end. So I end up always having to call them and asking them to refer it to someone who can get out quicker. It happened to me every time I filed a claim. They have a drawn-out process to get emergencies taken care of. But I would still recommend their services. I would just caution people to be prepared for a little legwork if you have emergencies. You also have to make follow-up phone calls when you have emergencies.

    We had two issues, one with the hot water tank and one with the sump pump. The hot water tank issue was fine. On the sump pump, the service company could not come out for several days. Because we were expecting rain, I was worried that the sump might fill up and flood the basement and so I replaced the sump myself with a new one. I left the old sump pump in the basement for the serviceman to look at.

    The serviceman looked at what I did and he said I did a fine job on it. I asked him if he wanted to plug in the old sump pump to see if it worked and he didn't see a need to plug it in. He took the old sump with him to put it in the trash. When he filed his report on what he did, he said that he could not determine whether the sump pump was bad because I already replaced it. I thought since I replaced the sump myself, I would get some allowance on what they call a cash out. But because he reported that, the service company said I wouldn't get any credit for it. My experience with American Home Shield has been excellent and I'm very satisfied. I haven't had any issues with any of the service companies until this, when they reported things differently than what it was.

    My neighbor recommended Home Shield and I went with it for the home I had then. When I bought another home, I cut it for that. We've had three people come out and the last two were great. But we were not impressed with the guy who came out for a plumbing claim last year. He declared that it was because of the roots, that it was going to be outside the purview of the warranty, and that it would cost $10,000 to dig up the whole backyard and replace the sewer. Then he called the next day and spoke with my 21-year old daughter who was living in the home and offered to come and tear up the backyard for $10,000. It wasn't anywhere near a $10,000 job. We didn't think the guy was very honest and I was so angry that he had done that. I almost canceled all of my American Home Shield and didn't do a thing about the plumbing for months.

    I called and complained about him. I asked for our $100 back and Home Shield said they couldn't give it back because I didn't tell them while the guy was still at my house that it wasn't a good service. Then we had Legacy 4 and their guy was great. It was at a rental and I have not heard of any additional problems. The two people that have come out within the last month or so, one to one house and one to the other, were both stellar and wonderful.

    I have very few bad experiences with American Home Shield. They're very good at what they do and I wouldn't have continued this long if I hadn't had good success with them. It is super easy to do a claim online but I occasionally call in because I can have multiple service requests at the same time if it's for the same type of problem. For example, I can have multiple toilets done. I can't do that process online. The thing, however, is hate calling in to American Home Shield because it takes forever.

    Another thing is it is very hard to cancel a service request online. I had two service requests that I cancelled after I initiated them. They couldn't get somebody here quick enough for one claim so I paid for it out of pocket. That didn't bother me because American Home Shield is so good at everything else. They follow through with everything else. Occasionally, that's going to happen. That claim was for the valves that were leaking. I needed those fixed because it was hurting my floor.

    Other than that, their contractors are very good and I enjoyed all them so far like Conklin. It's a plumbing company that I would have never even known of. Now I'm gonna use them to remodel a portion of my home. I have gotten bad contractors too and I've refused them. American Home Shield has put them on a list where they wouldn't come to my home anymore and I appreciate that. That's a good thing for that company to do. Another contractor I had was Dudek and I was super impressed because their tech came out even on a Saturday morning, which I did not expect. He fixed the washer and he told me things about my machine that I didn't know of. I really liked him.

    Since the repairs were done, our units have been working better. And when something doesn't work well, I just call back and someone else is sent again and it doesn't cost me a new service fee. I have two people that have joined American Home Shield because of the success I've had with them. Another thing about the home warranty is their app is very user-friendly.

    Harkins AC Heating & Controls came out and they told me that I need to get some other things taken care of in the attic. My pipes have fallen in there and I asked them if they could reconnect those pipes. The guy told me no because I had foam installation and I had the wrong sized pipe that needed to be vented to the outside. He also said I needed a radiator because the foam installation in the ceiling wasn't up-to-code. I told him that we've had that ever since we've had the home. As far as doing the work that he needed, he completed that. I requested that company because we had a company in the past that totally destroyed the AC unit upstairs so I didn't want them back in my home.

    Trying to get American Home Shield on the telephone was a nightmare, which is why I waited until a Saturday. Usually, the wait time is about an hour to an hour and a half. The service depends on what it is. I have commercial-grade appliances. When they come out to do the Thermador six-burner cooktop, it never fails. I may have four burners working, by the time they leave, I only have two. They gave me 2,000 toward it and I had to finance the other two. If you have a big built-in refrigerator like I have, same thing. They were able to give us $5,000 toward a new built-in and we had to finance the other three. Now, as far as appliances for washer and dryer, excellent. Then doing minor things are okay. But I've never called them in to do electrical work. I just went out and got someone else to do that.

    Harkins didn't come back out to tell me how much they would charge to bring the foam installation up-the-code and to do the other things. I have a rusted return insert in the bathroom and he told the guy just to come on out because we have gas, electric heaters, and he said we have foam installation. That's a combination for a deadly mishap that may happen. He said he couldn't touch that.

    We had a little bit of water leaking from the outside soffit. Higginbottom's came out and they ended up blowing out the drainage. They were right on time when they said they'd come. They were in and out within 15 minutes. It was great. The claim submission is easy in general, although I occasionally can't submit anything on their website. But when the submit button works, it's fine. I had no problem with Higginbottom's but the one previous to that claim was the one that we had huge issues on.

    The issue we had with one of our recent claims was about as bad as I could experience. In fact, we probably won't re-up our contract with AHS because of it. They are extremely hard to get ahold of if you are having an issue. You can request a claim with pretty easily but if you have an issue, good luck trying to get them on the phone. I waited on hold for four hours and 30 minutes in order to get them to answer the phone. When a rep did, he answered my question and told me he had to transfer me into a different department. I then waited on hold for 47 further minutes and the process was still not complete. So in order to get ahold of somebody, it's not worth the money that you're saving or getting out of the claim.

    We also have had issues with some of the vendors that they do send out. It is to the point where if we make a plumbing request, we have a note on our file to not send the first one that they try to send. We don't want them in our house anymore because they just leave the work uncompleted. Then I have to call and wait on hold for them to try to finish the process, so it's been not worth the time.

    I had signs of water leakage on the ceiling of my office right below the master bathroom. We thought it was a burst pipe. PHD Mechanical was sent out. They opened up the ceiling to take a look and all the piping was fine. They said it was not a burst pipe and therefore it was not covered by American Home Shield. They left. One of the guys that came over put me in touch with a friend of theirs that takes care of mold. They said there was a lot of water sitting there. He came over and put in some machinery to dry it out. It's not really drying. So now I have to consider my options on what I wanna do. I also had a service provider that came in to replace my pool pump, although it's now leaking two weeks later.

    Both of the contractors had excellent customer service, meaning they interacted quickly, and they came over quickly, and everything was very smooth. However, both of them did not fix the problem. But I am very happy with American Home Shield. I would definitely recommend them because the ability to get service and response quickly was terrific.

    What happened was when Budget AC came, there was no water there. I didn't realize it because I didn't run my water in my yard for a long period of time ever. But we had sod laid and I had to water it every day for about an hour because there was a good area of sod. And they said, "You need to make sure that it's good and soaked," so we did. I went downstairs. I have a little throw rug and it was soaked. We tried to find where the water was coming. We thought it might have been from the freezer because it was right in front of our freezer, but it was not.

    We did the water the next day. The water would come between my freezer and a trunk that's there, and that's right where our water faucet is outside. That's where we turn on our hose. And he said, "There must be a pipe back there where it must be leaking from." We watched it trickle. It wasn't a big pour. It took a while for the water to run before it even started coming in. And then, you would see a little trickle come across the floor, head over to the drain in the basement. We knew we couldn't get it fixed.

    When Budget came, they pulled the freezer out. We have drywall up. They looked. They said, “This wall is not even wet so there can't be a pipe. We're thinking it might be coming from under your freezer." But they looked and they said, "There's no wet spot on your freezer." I said, "We thought the freezer too. But we put our hand underneath the freezer part.” I said, "And the floor's not there, so it couldn't have been. Let me go turn the water on. How long can you wait?" They said, "Well, we'll wait for a little while to see where the water comes in.

    They waited about 15 minutes and no water, no nothing came in. And they said, "Well, we'll put your freezer back," which I wish I had them keep out a little bit. They put it back like it was which means we can't see anything now. But they said, "When you turn your water on again, if it comes in like that again, call AHS and they'll send us back out. You won't have to pay another service call 'cause we didn't do nothing." I said, "Okay." It was right at the end of doing all the watering and I haven't done it again. So, I thought I need to just go out, turn on the water, and water our grass, and just let it see if it starts coming in so that I can call them call again.

    There is obviously something going on but they couldn't find anything wet. They said, "Your wall's not wet, the baseboard's not wet." And I said, "I'm telling you, it's gotta be wet somewhere." The whole time I haven't run water outside, it has not been wet. So it's my fault that I haven't went out and watered any grass anymore to find out if it's coming in from somewhere, but I will do that. That's not American Home Shield's fault that they didn't find anything. The only other thing to do if the water does start coming in again is just call AHS and tell them that this all happened again.

    I got two garage doors, but this one went out. The contractor that came out knew what was wrong with it. He got his ladder and got up there and did it. I looked on Youtube videos, and it said I gotta take the old thing down. I said, “Good God of mine.” That’s why I called American Home Shield and made the appointment. I paid $125. I said, “I could’ve done that myself. That’s easy.” He said, “No. This board’s about 200 bucks. So, you saved some money on these.” He just did about four screws and took it off, and that was it, put it back and put a new one in. It works well.

    I like that I can make an appointment online with AHS. Then we get people from College Station, which is a 55-mile drive from here. Paul’s Appliance Service also fixed my dryer and my washing machine. They also fixed my microwave and put a new board in it. My daughter has AHS in Louisiana, and this technician drives two and a half hours to get to her house. He's only one in Southwest Louisiana that does American Home Shield. He will see her in two weeks and she's mad about it. But for me, next day, I get an email that says, “Call Paul Appliance or call these people to get set up,” and immediately, the contractors call me first. Here in Texas, AHS has been great. However, calling them up is an issue ‘cause you will never get ahold of anybody. But if you do it online, it's quicker.

    My recent claim experience with American Home Shield went well. It was for my air conditioning. I submitted my request in the morning, and then 3 o'clock, I had a call the same day. Then it was scheduled for the second day. The contractors came in and they had to replace one part, which they didn't have it in stock. They had to get the approval from American Home Shield. So, that took three days. They came in with the part and they changed it. But that didn't resolve the whole problem, so I had to request for someone else to come in. The contractors came in, then there was another part that needs to be changed. That came in after two days. Everything was done by that second visit. It was all very professional with the contractors. Everything is fine now.

    When I call in my claims with AHS, a person takes it. But I got to call to find out when the techs are going to come out because they don't call you back right away. It’s like they need another person to help facilitate the phone calls back. For me, I got to call and call them until finally they give me something. But otherwise, I wasn’t thinking about dropping them and going to another one. AHS sends good people to my home to fix things and they explain things to me because I'm a widow. I've had great service from them.

    Recently, I had a new air conditioner put in and the person that came and brought it did a great job. Two weeks before that, my water heater went out and the repair cost a lot of money. The copper pipe cost $500. But the tech came out and did both repairs. AHS have also been very cooperative with me. It's just that my air conditioning went out when it was 112 in California and I had trouble with that. But it wasn't the fault of AHS. It was just that everybody was calling at the same time.

    I had a recent claim with American Home Shield on my AC unit. The process was fairly easy. I just went online and put in the request for somebody to come out and check it out. The contractor seemed to be fine. It just seems to be a wait on those units. They came yesterday from when I first put it in in August. But so far, so good. We have cool air now so we’re much happier.

    The only thing is that by our AC unit being out and being in the hot south and those places where it's hot and you just can't get natural cool air, AHS should have some kind of compensation for you when it’s gonna be a late delivery on a product. It was unbearable in here. I have two kids and both of them have disability. It was getting so hot it was making them sick. I was like, “You don't give any kinda hotel stay? At least a credit?” So, if I do have to pay out of my pocket, I'm not paying the full cost while I'm just waiting on the product to come in. Something needs to be done in that line of customer service.

    I did a claim on my gas stove through American Home Shield. I did it over the phone and the rep I spoke with was very nice. I was told to expect the contractor between 8 o'clock and 12 o'clock.     When you pull my bathroom, it wouldn't work and I told American Home Shield all about the issue since July. As of today, nothing is working. There’s also a leak in the sink and it's flooding. That one is still not repaired as well. Joy Plumbing came and they were the only contractor that acted professionally. The issue was not resolved, but at least they didn't act arrogant and disrespectful. I have to call American Home Shield again and complain and every time I do, I wait on the phone. When I get someone, I have to complain again. It's exhausting. None of the issues I requested to be resolved is resolved right now. American Home Shield is not worth it.

    I've had two claims with American Home Shield. One was I had a leak in the guest commode. The young man came in on time, very presentable, which is sort of a step up from the normal stereotype of a plumber, good looking, clean, and professional. He took care of everything within 15 minutes. Then, I also had them come in and check my air condition. One of my units went down. I know a little bit about air conditioning, so I knew it had to be something electrical, possibly a fan of sorts. We're in Arizona, we're having tremendous heatwave, and I couldn't get them in until Tuesday. I called Sunday night and they were already closed. I left my number, but I called them again Monday morning about 9:00 just to make sure.

    We made an appointment and I told the man to put in the zip code because there are two similar addresses, and if their guy goes with the wrong address, it's gonna take him about 20 minutes out of his way. The air conditioning tech got lost. He called me and I got him on his way. He was here in quite a short period of time, so he must've been driving fast. He knew he was late.

    He came in and asked me what it was and I explained to him. He checked what needs to be checked. They always check the thermostats and I said that was all right. I told him what I thought it was, but he went through his routine and he found the issue. He went to the car and got the replacement part. It was an electrical capacitor that controls the blower fans up in the AC unit. He did a good job. He told me it would've probably cost me about 180. Of course, we have a co-pay of 125 and I was thinking that I saved $60. But I pay a monthly to have that insurance.

    Up to now, I'm very happy with American Home Shield. Cordial people, very competent techs, courteous, and very efficient. I wish I had gotten them sooner. They're on the clock and they come in and they know what they're looking for. A lot of times, I've had other people out here, not necessarily from this insurance company, and I'm a little bit out of the way. I have to give them a lot of information. If they don't listen to me, they might not even show up. If they use the GPS, they're going to go to a residential community and it's walled, so they can't get in unless they have an appointment. I told them to use the zip code and not to go to Cave Creek which is just west of us. I don't know why they have the same address as I do, but it is what it is. I highly recommend American Home Shield.

    I had a leak going on under my kitchen sink that American Home Shield took care of quickly. Then I had two faucets that I couldn't get cold water from both bathrooms and they replaced them. So it was great. Submitting the claim was easy for me. They just took the information, I gave them my credit card number, and that was it. When the contractor came, my mom was the one that was there. They had to order some parts and they had to come back. After about a week, I called them and said that I thought they were gonna come back in a couple of days. The rep went to check on it and said the parts were ordered. So it took them almost another week to do it. But it got done and it's fine. I have cold water in my bathrooms and we're all very happy.

    I have a high deductible. It's $100 and initially, I was like, "Ugh," but I went ahead and did it. But during the time that I called in an issue and then I had two other issues to fix.     Our sink clogged up, so we needed a plumber. We went online and did a claim to American Home Shield. We did it on a Sunday and somebody contacted me on a Monday. Durham Contractors came out on Tuesday. They cleared out the blockage out of the pipeline, they reassembled all of the pipes, and got it to work and draining. Having the warranty makes it easy since we’re on limited income due to COVID. Things break when you don’t have money, so this is a nice insurance to help with that.

    I was doing searches to try and get a more reasonable rate. And that's how I came about Home Shield. Going about setting up the appointment is the most aggravating part because either you got to call and talk to a live person, which takes forever to get someone on the line, or you do it online where it asks you all these questions as if you're the one fixing it, when I'm calling to get someone out to fix it. It has too much jargon that I don't know the lingo because I'm not the one fixing it. I need someone to fix this. It asks a lot of questions about, “Is the such and such broken or something such and such needed.” I don't know. So, it's better to talk to someone on the phone, but it just takes forever to get someone on the phone. But when someone does come out, the problem is handled.

    Recently, I had my AC on but it didn't blow out cold air. It just blew out warm air. So, I called Home Shield, set up an appointment and they got someone to come out that evening. The Mel's Preventive Maintenance tech checked the unit outside and said it was frozen. So, he turned it off and came back the next morning because by then it would have thawed out. And then, he did what he did and got it to work fine. The problem was, he said my filter was old and it needed to be changed. I got a new filter and put it in, and it has been working fine some days. For some strange reason, some days it's not. I've had to adjust it to where I made the temperature a lot lower just for it to be the way it was doing before it started blowing out warm air. It was some kind of adjustment that he did to the unit to where it wouldn't get as cold. I've had to bring my temperature down to almost 70 just so it can get back cool in my downstairs area, like it was before.

    Before, all I had to do was put it on 73 or 74, but I've had to bring it down all the way to 70 now just for it to get as cold as it was before. So, I don't know if there was some kind of adjustment he did to the unit when he came out. But at least it's not blowing out warm air anymore since he did what he had to do and then I changed the filter. I recently bought this house and I wasn't sure where the filter was, so he showed me where that was, which was also helpful.

    The techs from Consolidated Mechanical had to come out for my AC. I had one of those old air conditioners with the old Freon and unfortunately, AHS doesn't cover Freon except for a pound or two of it. It's expensive and costs about $100 for a stupid pound. My old unit might take 10 pounds of Freon, so I was facing a $1,000 bill to have this compressor replaced that broke in the old one, which I could have done and been out $1,000. But it was suggested that the old one be replaced with a new one, so I agreed. I was going to be out a $1,000, so I might just put in a new one and be out a couple of thousand more. Also, the other one that I had was 20 years old and that Freon was getting harder and harder to find. Eventually, I was going to have to replace the unit whether I wanted to or not. So, they put in a new air conditioning unit to replace the old one.

    Initially, I submitted this claim online and I was trying to get Consolidated Mechanical because they worked on one of my air conditioners a year ago. They had a really nice guy who came out that seemed competent, knew was talking about, and enjoyed what he was doing. But when I tried to get them, the system gave me somebody else. So, I had to go through a whole bunch of hoops because apparently, Consolidated wasn't taking any more requests. American Home Shield kept telling me that they couldn't reassign my claim to them. Then, I finally got ahold of Consolidated and they agreed to come out. I told them that they had to call up AHS and get me scheduled because American Home Shield couldn't get me scheduled with them. But I was going back and forth, and I was getting tired of it.

    What happened was, American Home Shield cancelled my request and decided to put through a new one, but they couldn't. So, I went online and submitted it again after talking to Consolidated Mechanical and the website gave me them at that moment. I then called Consolidated back and told them about it, then they were able to come out and do the work. I was happy with their service and they seemed to know what they were doing. They had a different group of guys come out to put the new unit in and they were here all day.

    Before they replaced the unit, the guy who came out talked to me about putting a new machine in and what type I wanted to put in. He told me about the Carrier which he said was expensive, then he said that I could get a Bryant, which was a little less expensive. But the Bryant was more on the nuts and bolts for the home, and the Carrier, actually owns Bryant. They just had a different name, but they probably have the same stuff. Then, they called and said that they couldn't get me the Bryant because it was not there. But they said they could give me the Carrier for the same price, which was what I had to begin with. So, I told them that either one of them was fine with me. Then, they didn't charge me anymore to get the Carrier which they said would have been more expensive. All in all, the service was good. We love our air conditioning and we can't live without it.

    There was an issue with one of our HVAC units in our sunroom. Something in it was burned up. They replaced it and it started working again. It was the first time I've used American Home Shield. I had issues with that same HVAC system but it was working on and off so I canceled the order for their contractor to even come out. There was also an issue with my plumbing and they sent somebody but come to find out it wasn't covered under American Home Shield. It was part of my irrigation system and not a part of my house. They only covered indoor plumbing.

    I still got charged $75 even though no actual work was done. But the guy that came out was really nice. When I was first talking to the secretary, they said they still wanted to come out 'cause sometimes the stuff is covered and sometimes it's not. The gentleman looked at it and he was kinda showing us that, apparently, some of our sprinkler heads had been leaking even after the system was off. We ended up getting water bills that were $600, $700, $800. That's why we had to have somebody come out and check on it.

    There were two switches and one electrical receptacle that were not working. American Home Shield assigned to me Jaeger Electric and their tech did a good job. He came relatively soon and went right to work. He searched around trying to find out where there was a loose wire somewhere in some wall. He found it by the garage. He was able to get things sorted out and fixed. Now, we're all back up and running.

    I was with American Home Shield with my previous house. With this house, I've had the home warranty since June. If something major crops out, it's nice to have a warranty because you never know. Hopefully, they would take care of it. My only challenge is they always try to do just a quick fix so something like an air conditioner takes a few service calls. But in the end, everything has been fixed in both houses and I’m satisfied overall.

    I moved here about a month ago and my water wasn't getting hot like it was supposed to. I called American Home Shield to have somebody come out. They sent somebody out but they couldn't do anything with it because it was a wiring issue. The wiring was for a residential household and this is a mobile home. The wiring is wrong. It needs a 10-2 and it was like a 12-2 on it. They went back and wrote all that down. I called American Home Shield back to send an electrician out here. They sent an electrician but he didn't touch it. He just told us what was wrong with it.

    When I've called for air conditioning people out here, they told me that it was from whatever up underneath. But this is a permanent foundation and I can't control what goes on up under there. It's never been fixed. All my air is going up underneath so I've gotta pay somebody to come do my ductwork 'cause American Home Shield won't cover it. I bought the Home ShieldPlus that they said but I feel there's no sense in me having it if they can't cover anything. I know a bunch of people that's against them. I didn't know it or I wouldn't have gotten it.

    We had a leak in our ceiling. The young man from Jed Plumbing & Gas cut holes in our ceiling and said that the leak was not coming from our tub. He could see the pipes to our tub coming from our roof. Somebody told me that this issue wasn't covered so I hired someone to come seal the shingle on the roof that was causing the leak. But the guy from Jed Plumbing was very nice and polite. He was spot-on that it was not coming from my tub, even though my tub was right there. But the holes in the ceiling bothered me.

    I was very frustrated when I would call to talk to several people. It was like they couldn't understand what I was saying to them and I would have to reiterate that. I would tell them that I already got a plumber and I didn't need another one. Then they'd ask what was wrong with my ceiling. I'd tell them again that there was a leak in my ceiling and that they sent someone out who cut holes to get the roof patched. They said that the would have to elevate that up. I finally got tired of it and then I called and told them that I was hiring someone. Then the rep said that she didn't think that it was covered that was why they were not giving me an answer.

    They weren't understanding what I was saying. So I used HomeAdvisor and I hired someone for $300 to come and patch it. Now, he was not patching the holes, 'cause he didn't cut the holes, but that was a little frustrating. Someone from American Home Shield called me and they assigned somebody. Then the lady called and asked me to send her pictures of what they looked like and they would schedule me for the following week. I've had American Home Shield for probably 10 to 15 years.

    We submitted a claim when we had to have our air conditioner worked on and then the other claim was for our pool chlorinator. I did one claim online but in the future, I would probably call it in. Online submission saves time but I like to look at the reviews of the service people and I don't know if they checked them out. A lot of people now are if you're gonna have something done, you kinda look for reviews online and see what they're like. I realized that when you call in you can say, “Hey, who's in our area?”, and they will tell us, “Oh, we have two or three different companies out there.” So that would be the only difference in online versus calling it.

    Everything went well with both claims. We were happy with the services we received. Allen’s Pool did a great job on getting our chlorinator up and running. We were also real happy with Airmax and they did a good job. The tech was super nice. He went over and above to get us up and running because they didn't have our motor in stock but they were able to hop online and find it at a warehouse. The tech actually came out the very next day. Even though it was on a Friday after normal working hours, he got us up and running, which was great because my elderly mom lives with us and she can't be in the heat because she has lupus.

    I had American Home Shield about 20 years in Florida and then when we moved to this state, I made sure that we got them again. We appreciate when we need something, they are there for us. It's been great. I have recommended them and there are three or four people who have gotten the warranty because I mentioned to them that they would definitely wanna have a warranty.

    I had a problem with an air conditioner not cooling adequately. It's the second time I've had the same problem. So, the first time the techs recharged it with Freon. It’s the third call I’ve had on the air conditioner. On the second time, the issue was the capacitor, so it was something completely different that caused the air conditioner to shut down. This time it was not cooling again, so they've identified that it has a leak in it. It's gonna need to be replaced. It's still an open claim.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield is super easy. I do it online. It’s so much easier. Working with the warranty has been very easy. I've had home warranties before. I've never really used them. This is the first time I've had a need to use them and it's been a very seamless process and I've been very satisfied with the work and the contractors that have been selected.     Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was easy. I just told them what I needed and they charged me for the claim. They were supposed to find somebody to come and resolve my issue but we never got things resolved. They sent a company out with whom we made six appointments but they never showed up to any of them. I talked to the people at American Home Shield and they would call their contractor as well. But then, the techs still wouldn't show up. AHS wouldn't find somebody else to come and resolve our issue. They need to improve their ability to get contractors out to do work.

    Submitting claims with AHS is easy. I go online, I put in my information, and they send somebody out to the house. Most recently, the fan went out on the blower inside the house and it was horrible with the contractor they sent out. The tech came out and he only looked at half of the equipment. He looked at the condensing unit outside, but did not go up into the attic to look at the actual air handling unit and was argumentative. He said that the air is cold in the ducts, but that he doesn't have to feel the air coming out of the unit to actually know that the air conditioner is working. He made excuses as to why he wouldn't look at it.

    I ended up bringing out a second-party and they let me know exactly what the problem was, which is why I knew that the blower motor went out. They took pictures and they gave me a report. It cost me $130 or something to have somebody else come out. Then on top of that, when those individuals went back to their office, they never prepared and presented Home Shield with a report. It took almost a month before I could get them to get out a second opinion.

    Then Home Shield won't do anything unless it's broken. The guy from the second company said to run the motor 100% of the time all day, every day until it completely breaks. Otherwise, Home Shield won't help or service anything, even if it is under warranty and even though we could smell everything burning up upstairs. They're also gonna say that it wasn't properly maintained, even though we've maintained it ever since we've been here and we've only been in the house for a few months. We had the exact same issue with a bathtub that was installed improperly by a previous owner and Home Shield would not warranty that either.

    This is the third time I filed a claim. The warranty extended warranty onto the roof and the pool and I had the roof people come out. But it was a third-party that Home Shield goes through for their roof warranty. I ended up having to pay them about $1,300 just to come out and do repairs before they would even warranty my roof. The reason we got Home Shield is that we bought a home that was 27 years old and we knew that things were probably not perfect. But I've had nothing but a horrible experience with them since we got them. They go out of their way to deny all of our claims.

    I loaded my stuff in the washing machine, closed it, and put the time. I filled it up with water and it showed LD in the panel. The machine stopped and it was not working. I tried again, put the clothes on the other side and there were too many things. I did it four or five times and it was the same thing. The machine started then after one minute, it stopped. I called Home Shield and spoke in Spanish with the rep explaining the situation. I left my claim and Dempsey Oil came out. My washing machine has been okay since their visit.     Everything was a disaster with Best Care. I put in for the rep to come out on the 15th and I let them know when I made that appointment that I needed him to come out as soon as possible because the situation wasn't getting any better. The rep came out and said that someone would get with me within the next 24 to 48 hours. I've never heard anything back from anyone until yesterday. I called American Home Shield on Friday and the guy that I talked to put me on hold to call Best Care to see what was going on. The rep said that it was told to him that someone would be giving me a call Saturday. Saturday and Sunday came and no one called me. So, Monday morning, I finally got a call and the rep told me that everything that the contractor did for the 15th and the 16th got erased because the site supposedly crashed and he had to make another diagnosis. She said he was gonna have to come out.

    My hot water tank was leaking and running bad when they came out on the 15th but for me waiting a whole week to hear something back, the water had filled the whole bottom of my storage room and now it’s starting to come inside my house. So when they came out yesterday, he was able to turn the water off for me, which I was thankful for. But it had caused water damage everywhere that I'm gonna have to get fixed. I had to call them this morning to try to see what's the next step and they were saying that I owe a $440 out of pocket expense. That wasn't broken down to me but that's okay because I told them that I’m fine with paying whatever I gotta pay to get it fixed because it has to be fixed as soon as possible.

    I had American Home Shield for a year about two years ago. Then, I recently got them back about two months ago. I couldn't find the coverage that accommodated my finance situation and AHS do that. Plus, I could be on the same coverage that I was on at first and the same deductible. I shouldn’t have left but I was trying to find someone that was cheaper and I couldn't find anyone. I did find someone but they didn't work out. Their coverage was not what I expected it to be. They have halfway covered things that I need done so I left them alone and came back to AHS.

    The washing machine was acting up again and the refrigerator wouldn't stay cold. I called American Home Shield like I normally do. I had to call twice. The rep initially assigned me to the same company that I didn't want to come back out because they had to come out here three times. I called back and they reassigned it to Monzon. They had to fix something that they were supposed to fix before. He was professional and since then, everything is working fine. Without the repair, we wouldn't be able to function. We need the washing machine for laundry and the refrigerator to keep our items cold. I recommended American Home Shield at work.     We had a backed up sink and I wasn't hearing from anyone, although American Home Shield had assigned it to a particular plumber. I had to call the plumber because I hadn't heard back from them, and then we were able to set up a time later in the week. I thought the issue was my garbage disposal, but it was a blockage of the sink. The gentleman that was sent out troubleshooted it and he got the job done. He was able to unstop the sink, but when I called American Home Shield back, they were saying that he had cleaned the garbage disposal and I owed him $60 something. However, he didn't do what he had originally said he was going to do. The $60 something was included in the $100 fee that I had to pay, so I didn't have to pay anything additional.

    I've had to use American Home Shield quite a bit and I noticed I need to call them this week too. Now, I go online and submit a claim because it's quicker. When I've tried to physically call in, I'm on hold for a long time, but if I go online and submit it, it gets through faster. There doesn't seem to be a speedy follow up though. I don't like the length of time it takes from the time that their contracted provider finds the problem until the time of approval.

    We needed a heat pump replaced. The AC wasn't working and the gentleman came out, saw it right away and called, but it took several days to get approval. In that time, I wasn't getting any email saying, “We're working on this.” We were blessed with the weather not being extremely hot, but that communication would have been nice. My husband was asking, “Okay, had they got back in touch with you?” and I would tell him, “No.” and that was heating up. No pun intended.

    If I knew that it was going to take several days for American Home Shield to approve it, then I could be a little more understanding, but I wasn't getting any communication until I called back in. They then explained it, which was fine, but they should let me know something. My overall experience has been good, but there are some things that I want to understand better. They have saved me a ton of money, but that lag time bothers me. Although I've told a couple of people about it, when it comes to home issues, I want to know what time frame I'm looking at so that I can plan better.

    The process on my most recent claim with American Home Shield was fine. The contractor came out and fixed the problem immediately. The problem happened about a week or two before they came out to fix it. My issue before that was my refrigerator. A contractor came out, but AHS spent a lot of money on that refrigerator when they just could have sent me a brand new refrigerator. With the money they spent on that refrigerator to get it fixed, I didn't spend that much money for the refrigerator. The young guy that came out to fix the garbage disposal was on time. The garbage disposal works perfectly. I'm still having a little bit of issues with the refrigerator. It still leaks for some reason.

    Overall, the process of submitting a claim to American Home Shield is really not that difficult. I can hardly understand the person that I'm talking to, though. I constantly had to repeat myself. When I'm at work, I have to tell her, “Let me call you back.” I have to either talk louder or slower for her to understand. Overall, I really enjoy having American Home Shield. They're professional.

    My AC unit wasn't working so I called American Home Shield. They said that the contractor would follow up with me within 2 to 48 hours to set an appointment and they did. The guy did a fantastic job. He called me before the deadline and expedited my appointment. He made an appointment under the timeframe that was given. He showed up on time and also called before.

    Apparently, there's a lot more wrong with the AC. It wasn't an easy fix so he did a lot of troubleshooting. He also explained to me that my thermostat was out. He said, “American Home Shield should be getting back to you on how they can replace it. But I'm gonna put something up temporarily so you guys have something to work then I can come back out. There's no cost to you and I'll put your Nest thermostat back up or whatever thermostat they replace. I don't know what they'll replace ‘cause that's up to them. But I can be back out and we'll set up an appointment. You'll hear a follow up from us.” He did a great job.

    This was a good experience with the contractor. When I called in though, I did have to be very stern of what I wanted so that experience wasn't that great. It wasn't as easy as doing it online. When I called in and let them know that my AC wasn’t working, this was a follow up to when they had been out before to come out and fix it. Also, my hot water went out in my sink. When the plumbing company that they sent out came, they told me that it had something to do with the AC which is really weird. But they were gonna refer it out to American Home Shield to send another technician.

    I called American Home Shield and said, “Listen, I already have been waiting three weeks. I need hot water. Now, my whole AC unit is not working. There should be a recall somewhat. I’ve already paid." I ended up having to double pay. I paid $100 for something that I marked ‘cause the hot water had been out which it was. Come to find out, for some odd reason, it had something to do with my AC. I still got charged but when they sent out the AC people, Platinum Heating & Air, they said that was for a recall. They didn’t charge me there but they charged me for something else. That part wasn't that great.

    Also, I haven’t gotten a follow up from American Home Shield. I don’t know if they’re gonna replace my Nest thermostat. I don’t know how long I have to have the temporary thermostat. For us, we have a pretty large home so the Nest thermostat definitely helps us control our cost. Those things didn’t go so well but a different interaction that I had on my stove went very well with that representative. I also have three different contracts with American Home Shield and it's 50/50 with them.

    The furnace stopped heating. The fan was blowing but no warm air was coming out. I filed the claim online on one day then we had the folks out either the next day or the day following. It's very efficient. When Des Moines Excavating called me, I saw the caller ID and said, "I'm sorry. Who?" They have three different companies operating out of the same office according to them. They do have like an appliance branch and they did a fine job. I had no complaints, no runs, no drips, no errors. They got everything back in place for us. Unfortunately, it's a 20-year old furnace so I'm not sure there's much they could have done to get it back fully. But they bought a few more years of life.

    Every other claim with American Home Shield has been super smooth with the exception of this most recent one for our refrigerator. It took us six weeks to get a refrigerator. But we finally got one in and we're incredibly grateful for that. We're still waiting for our reimbursement on a couple of out of network service calls though. Also I wish that they hadn't outsourced some of their call centers. Sometimes, especially after hours, I call and get somebody overseas. Oftentimes, they're difficult to understand.

    We had a side-by-side refrigerator, a freezer on the left and a refrigerator on the right, and the refrigerator side failed. C & C Appliance Repair came out and diagnosed the problem and they found out that the part was no longer available. It had been discontinued. They recommended that we get a replacement and they told Home Shield. I waited a couple of days. I called Home Shield and the thing that was really frustrating was that it was really tough to get through to a human being. I waited a couple of times for over an hour to talk to somebody. There are places where you call them and they would say they're really busy and ask you to leave your number and they would call back, that would've been cool. But once I got to a human being, they were very understanding and they explain things.

    The rep said they're gonna have to review it and investigate to see if they can find the part. There was a certain number of business days for that. It took a while but they approved it and they did it within the time frame that they said they were going to. And as far as them replacing it, they did what they said they were gonna do. They said they can give me a gift card to Home Depot and I can replace it there or they can send me a check. I would've loved to have gotten it through Home Depot but they said they can't get me a refrigerator until October. It wasn't gonna work so I went ahead and went with the check thing. I was able to go with a local supplier and the refrigerator came late in August, which wasn't great, but we still got it. Having Home Shield has been beneficial because there have been things that have come up over the course of the years - plumbing leaks or things that I couldn't repair myself.

    I’m a new homeowner and I'm 70 years old. This is not my first home. But when I bought it, I have work and I have a special needs child. So, I have a lot of issues going on. I had issues with the AC and I explained to Home Shield what the issues were through their website. I prefer to talk to a person, but I've been on hold for an hour trying to talk to a person. I had called several times and either didn't they have a guarantee or I was supposed to be charged again. But at the end of the day, I just wanted to get the AC fixed.

    A-US Air conditioning came and did a repair. The outside unit was kinda wobbly and making a lot of noise but they left. Evidently it was okay for them but it didn't seem right. I wasn't really happy with the very first contractor. The first couple of times, it seemed that they just took care of that one little issue and left. I was not gonna argue because I didn't know how the system worked. But afterward, I noticed the rumbling on the outside unit and it seemed like it was gonna break down. The system started stopping in the late afternoon. Then it just stops cooling altogether right around the heaviest heat of the day.

    I sent back a notice to Home Shield that I wasn't happy with the first contractor. I told them what I thought the problem was. They fixed that one issue but they didn't look at the overall system. In my estimation, they didn't even wait to check that it was working. They just replaced the coil and left. And I had bought the coil. Now, the system seems to be working the way it should be.

    American Home Shield has been a hit or a miss. But it had to do with the vendors that I had an experience with. My refrigerator and my microwave had a problem and American Home Shield sent the same vendor to look at both. With the refrigerator, the tech told me that it was normal that the top shelf of my refrigerator was freezing up everything and leaking down to the bottom, and the bottom half of my refrigerator was not keeping anything cold. He also said that happened to his refrigerator. I told him that was not normal and that he needed to fix his own because that was not how my refrigerator works.

    Thankfully, we transferred over to another vendor. Home Shield sent someone else to me but the scheduling was bad. They said they could fix it, but not for another couple of weeks. The refrigerator finally came out but it took a few weeks. They didn't understand that I had a meltdown because I kept having to throw away food and then I had to live out of a cooler. I'm unemployed since March, looking for work. I'm a single mom and I am a widow, and I cannot keep buying ice every day. But the microwave claims was resolved. I got another microwave because they saw that the issue was not fixable.

    The next issue was with my air conditioning and AHS had the first vendor come in. He was very thorough. He didn’t just take pictures. He was up in my attic in the crawlspace looking up the duct. He was opening up the unit inside. He said that something needed to be replaced. So, I thought that the second appointment that was gonna happen was for it to be fixed but it wasn't. It was a second opinion. But the second vendor was there only for about five minutes. He asked me where the thermostat was and took a picture of that. He took a picture of the unit outside for the air conditioning. He took a picture of the furnace inside. Then he left.

    The report that the second vendor wrote was accusing me of having asbestos. I was livid because he did not take any samples. You can't tell about anything by just looking at it. If you think you're that good, then I need you to back it up with taking a sample to a lab and then coming back and telling me. That has never been reported. So, now I have to wait again for a third vendor to come, but they're putting him down as a second opinion even though he's the third vendor, and he's coming in on Monday.

    I would still use American Home Shield and I definitely would recommend them to my friends. The customer service has been good. The issue has nothing to do with them. It was the two different vendors that they've used. In fact, even in the middle of all this stuff, I told my sister that she needed to get on it because having this warranty was important. She has been a homeowner for three years now. I had to pay for my own repairs and do things and I wish I would’ve known about American Home Shield before.
