The drip pan for the inside unit was rusted through and it was dripping water. I had a bucket collecting water, but I'd have to empty the bucket every so often. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The unit's a Trane, so we got the Trane part number, and Comfort First Heating and Cooling went ahead and they purchased the part. It's plastic now so it's not gonna rust. It took them a little bit to install it because of difficulty of the older unit. They had to drill out some rivets. The team did a really good job. It was just painstaking on them. But all in all, they got it done, everything's running great, and it was a great team to have.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

My garbage disposal was giving me problems but the contractor who came out was great. He analyzed the problem. I knew that the garbage disposal was bad. I picked up a second one, and he replaced it for me. It has been working great since. American Home Shield has worked the way it’s supposed to work. I was very pleased.

I submitted a claim for my AC. The contractors that AHS sent were nice, on time and were very professional. They repaired it. They had to order a part and come back. I was very pleased with American Home Shield. Everything went smoothly. They did what they were supposed to.

My problem started with some plugs on my fan that were bad. Then one thing led to another. I called American Home Shield and said I have some electrical issues. The fan is working nicely after the service. But the tech put in some new outlets and they're real stiff and hard to get things in them. It's not his fault that the outlets are stiff. He said they make them differently now. But I'm very happy with everything. Everything was fine with American Home Shield. They were fabulous.

We had a plumbing claim with AHS where City Plumbing came out and it went perfectly. They did everything we needed them to do and the tech came out in a matter of days. He checked everything out for us and explained everything he was looking at. All in all, our experience with AHS has been pretty good and the warranty works the way it's supposed to. We call, they send technicians, and the issue gets fixed.

American Home Shield is pretty good. But people should read the coverage, especially the fine print, because there would be some things that we'd think would be covered sometimes but they were not. People should know what they were paying for. The claim submission was great. I had to add something in it. Although I wasn't able to change it online like I thought I would be able to, I was able to call the customer service and they added it to it. Then, Dustin from J & K Plumbing came out and took care of it. I need to call him again 'cause now, the line on my other AC unit needs to be blown out too. If American Home Shield could make an app that was easy to use, that would be really cool.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been a little tumultuous. I had made a claim for my washer, my dishwasher and my exhaust fan on my oven range to be looked at. Initially, the person that they sent out must have had issues with dogs because they walked in and walked right out. They said that my house was not clean enough for them even though I made their dispatcher aware that we are in the middle of listing our house for sale and we have contractors in and out.
The guy came into my house being painted and they were aware of that. He walked in and said, “The kitchen looks a little busy for me. Why don't I go and start on the washer?” They were just taping off the room to paint after he had left. I said “Okay, we'll go into the laundry room.” We went into the laundry room and he saw two baskets of laundry in there that were not even full. He said he couldn't get access to the washer. I said I was going to move those and he'd have easy access to the washer. It's a pretty big laundry room. I'm able to fit two washer and dryer in there and still have room to walk around and navigate. He walked back out and said, “Okay, I guess I'll just go try and work on the dishwasher.” He walked in and there happened to be one of the contractors standing over the sink next to the dishwasher, taping off. He said he couldn't get access so I was gonna have to reschedule.
I called and said, “He thinks that it's too busy here right now. Can we reschedule for Friday?” There was supposed to be no one else here. They said they would call me back with the time because if I needed to do it in the afternoon, I needed to move around the schedule. Thursday came and it showed that the claim was closed. I called the contractor and asked, "Why did you close the claim when you guys haven't done anything? You literally walked in and you left.” He was here all of five minutes. The rep said that American Home Shield was going with another contractor.
I called American Home Shield and they told me that the contractor refused to come back because he claimed that there were poop and pee and I had 15 dogs. First of all, I have five dogs, not 15. Second of all, if there were poop and pee all over the place, why would those other contractors be in the house? Adding fuel to the fire, that very same day when I called to figure out why that claim was closed as completed, there was another contractor in the house from American Home Shield for my leaky faucet in the laundry room and the garbage disposal in the kitchen right next to the dishwasher where he claimed he couldn't work. He was able to complete his job completely fine.
That is the second time that American Home Shield has sent out a contractor that has over-exaggerated or made it seem like I have the dirtiest house in the world. I had an electrical issue in my kids’ rooms where both the lights were not working and none of the outlets were working too. I called American Home Shield and they sent out the contractor. The contractor came out and of course, the rooms were pitch black. One of my dogs who was blind and disabled happened to go into that room and peed. Apparently, he thought that meant that there was poop all over the house. He said, “We're not gonna be able to fix it today. I'll call American Home Shield.” Literally, he hadn’t been gone for more than 10 minutes and American Home Shield called me. The rep said, "I'm sorry. I don't mean to offend you but the contractor says that they won't come back because your house is not clean. It's got poop and pee all over the place.”
First of all, there was only one spot of pee and the dog is a blind and disabled dog. We couldn't see in there that was why I had them there. The rep said, "I'm gonna need you to send me a picture because either he's over exaggerating or you're lying.” I got a spotlight and put it in both of the rooms that he was working in. I even did a video from the entrance of my house to the walkway to where he was going to, to show her that there were no poop and pee all over the place because from the time that he left to the time that she called me was like 10 minutes. How would I have been able to clean all of that up if he made it seem like he couldn't even walk into the house?
American Home Shield offers great coverage. However, it's super frustrating when they're sending these contractors out that either are over-exaggerating or are being snooty. If you don't like dogs then just say that. The dogs weren't even in the house. I made sure that they were outside. The only one that was actually in the house was the blind one and that's because he can't be outside on his own. He will bump into things.
I made a claim about electrical right after this whole thing with the washer and the dishwasher and the hood vent, and I still haven't gotten a person assigned. I literally had to call back five or six times in order to get someone assigned for the washer and the dishwasher afterwards to the point where I ended up having to just go and buy a new washer then wait for them to come out for the dishwasher. When they assigned the new person for the dishwasher and the hood vent, they only assigned someone for the dishwasher and didn't have anybody for the hood vent. So now the person for the hood vent isn't supposed to come out till tomorrow. But the dishwasher isn't going to be fixed and it's super frustrating that I've paid so much money every month for this service and for the deductibles, and I'm not getting the service that I'm supposed to be getting. I am ready to cancel American Home Shield after I sell this house and not get it on my own house. I'd go to the other warranty place that they have for houses.

Hopwood Electric came out for an electrical issue. The service guy was very personable and he went over everything and tried to tell me everything. I was in the process trying to find my contract, which I couldn't find, but he was explaining to me everything that he was doing. He had a face mask on, too. He was pretty quick and very knowledgeable.
I didn't really care for American Home Shield's agents, though. I called for two different appointments. The guy that set up the appointment couldn't comprehend what I was saying. I had a plumbing issue, which was the kitchen. I told him I had a leak in the kitchen and it was coming from the disposal. He asked me which bathroom was it. I said, " Excuse me?" He said, "You said had a leak in the sink. Which bathroom?" I said, "No, I said kitchen. I said it's the disposal." He didn't understand when I was talking about the disposal. So the plumbing guy came here. Now, he was running late, and I kinda figure out he was probably stuck on a job. So it was not a big deal to me that he was late.
He was pretty quick but then he said he was not gonna be able to do the repair because he saw that I had a planter underneath the sink to catch the water underneath the disposal. He said, "Oh, the guy wrote down it was just a leak in a sink." I told him I was clear about the disposal. So then he had to order the piece because he didn't come with the disposal.
When I called back the next day, the AHS reps said, "Well, you have here it's a leak in the sink." I said, "No. I clearly said..." They then said, "Okay. Well, we'll have to pull the call and listen to it." I told them that was fine but I still needed somebody to come around here to make sure that the guy was coming. She said she would have somebody call me and they would look at it. She never did. So the next day, I called back and the girl I spoke to said the same thing. I told her I was just trying to find out if the tech was coming or not.
I put a call into the contractor too. They called me back later to set it up and said they had the part and he was coming out here, and he fixed it in less than 10 minutes. But the AHS rep I spoke with was arguing back and forth with me and was going on and on. I was so upset. I said, "You know, give me your manager on the phone." I find that with a lot of companies, it's one thing to speak English, but another thing is the comprehension.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I've dealt with other warranty companies and Home Shield is one of the good ones. I had a horrible experience with a warranty I had. They kept going back and denying a claim. I went to Home Shield specifically because in their claim, they said normal wear and tear, even if there's rust or something like that. Also, being able to submit claims is easily done online and I get an answer right away. With other companies, I never even know if it went through but with Home Shield, it's very clear that it went through. I get some sort of communication and they assign someone pretty quickly. I like that. I had a plumbing issue recently. My sink was stopped up and Neely Brothers Construction and Plumbing came out. The only thing was it took a few days for them to get here but once they got here, they resolved it right away.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

We sent a claim to AHS and they sent out Exit Garage Doors. However, the techs couldn't get into my garage and they couldn't do anything. When we got into our garage, we discovered that the problem had nothing to do with the door. We had a huge power failure. A week and a half later, we noticed that power was out in our garage. We called out American Home Shield for an electrician and they sent City First Electric. The tech from there did a marvelous job. It took him a while but he found the circuit breaker that had been tripped. Once we flipped that, we've had power since. I like that AHS generally works. I've never had them come out and not be able to fix a problem unless it isn't within their specialty. This warranty is worth it.

American Home Shield sent out a plumber. The guy was very nice. I really liked him. He walked me through, we laughed and I even helped him get the water out the sink because my kitchen sink was stopped. He told me that he was gonna drill down so many feet because his snake only went so far. But he said it's still running slow. He checked all of whatever there is to check.
Within a week, I followed his instructions, pouring hot water, putting baking soda and vinegar in it, and I still had a slow running sink. At the end of every day, I had to boil pots and pots of water. I'm like, “I am not Green Acres. And this is not gonna work.” It doesn't make sense. I live in almost a $300,000 home, and here I am, pouring water on a continuous basis in a kitchen sink just for the water to go out. So, I called him back, and he sent his boss. His boss was in here all of five minutes. I was on the phone with work, and he said he forgot to check the trap. As he left, I thought the young man prior to him did check the trap. Two days later, I said, “Well, if that’s what he wants to tell me, the sink is running, I won't worry about it.” Then I started picking up a smell that Saturday. It smelled like garbage. I went, “Maybe I haven’t done my disposal in a while.”
So, I turned the disposal on, and I got a cleaner that I use on my disposal. I put it in there, and it has to whirl around, and it cleaned the disposal. As I was over at my airfryer and I started to walk across to the other side of the floor to the island, my feet was smashing around in water. It is a huge kitchen, and I was looking at water all under my feet. I'm lucky I didn't turn on the airfryer or I would have been a goner. I was just about to open the door when I realized what was happening. Water was shooting out the inlet. The water was running, but water was coming from under the sink under the counter. I have mahogany colored cabinets and it was spreading all over my kitchen. So, I got towels and started soaking up water. Then, I grabbed the phone and called American Home Shield. It's already about 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Then they said I had gotten the COVID Center but I don’t have COVID. I have a water issue.
Finally, they got me over to somebody who said, “Well, we can't get anyone out there.” "What do you mean? I got hardwood floors. I got water running. You're advertising on television, ‘This woman is being pushed down this sidewalk because her air conditioner is blowing,’ some outrageous thing.” Water was piling all over the kitchen, but they were not worried. I said, “I'm calling you. I am worried. And you’re telling me it’s gonna be a day or two? That’s not acceptable. You can’t tell me you don’t have 24-hour companies ‘cause emergencies happen.” He said, “Well, we're gonna get a plumber out there maybe now or it’ll be tomorrow.” I said, “I got hardwood floors, sir. That is also a claim on my insurance if I don't stop this.”
The water was starting to spill further. So, I had the mind to go turn the water off at the sink. That stopped some of it, but it still kept coming because it was coming up out of the pipe over there. They did get someone to call. I called the guy back who came the second time. He was in Charlotte doing a job. He has his own independent company, and he called back and said, “The soonest I can get there is Monday.”
Then, on Sunday, I got a call after I finally got the water about the floor. I didn't know how to turn off the water. He was trying to instruct me to turn off water. I said, “Sir, I don’t know whether I go in the basement or whether I go up under the sink. I'm not a plumber.” I was willing to pay for a plumber. Then, with American Home Shield, we went round and round, “No, you can't pay for the plumber. If you pay for the plumber, it’s yours.” “But you don’t offer me what I need. I need a 24 hour service. Tell you what, I will just find myself another company ‘cause I can't deal with this. This does not make sense to me. I pay you almost $60 a month, and you’re gonna tell me you don’t have a 24-hour plumber?”
A few minutes later, I got a call from someone. Prime Plumbing called and they came out Sunday. He said, “Ma’am, it’s not your trap. I think I'm gonna have to drill some more down. I hate to inconvenience you. I don't have what I need.” Someone did come out on that Sunday. American Home Shield must have realized I meant what I said I was gonna contact some of these other companies that's been reaching out to me. I didn't call the other companies because the guy came that Sunday. He assessed the problem and said, “I promise you, I will be back in your home tomorrow.” The next day, Monday, he was right here. He unstopped my sink and he cleared the way. I kept their card because they were phenomenal. They did a fantastic job. I will use them going forward. They kept their word. Since that repair, everything has worked fantastically.
I also had an experience where my microwave went out. GE came out back in May. I'm not faulting American Home Shield so much because they did refund me my $100 back about a month ago. My microwave is still broken. They have some microwaves on their website, but none of them are in stock. Then, when I try to get in touch with Lowe's or some of those places to get another microwave, their inventory is very slow coming in because of federal trade laws and everything that's going on with a pandemic that slowed everything from other countries.
I can't get a microwave because I can't find one anywhere that is silver. I can find a white one, but I have stainless steel appliances. I'm not about to stick a white microwave or a black microwave in my kitchen where all my appliances are stainless steel. That is not gonna look good, and I don't wanna do it. So I'm not gonna do it. AHS gave me back the hundred, and they said they’d give me only 588, which would cover the microwave and the installation. I think they greatly undervalued it.
I have to get mad at them in order to get their attention. I should not have to get mad for them to do what they know they promised to do because I pay them every month. They do come through, but it's only after I’m standing on my toenails after I’ve been screaming. Instead of coming out just saying to me, “This is it. This is what’s happening. We are slow,” they’re giving me the runaround. I don’t like that. They should tell me the truth.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I’m a real estate agent and I bought this AHS because I usually buy it for my clients, but I don't really know what it is so I've been using it as an experience and see what it's all about. First of all, it takes me two to three hours on the phone to reach one of their people to schedule and that’s been all the way straight through up until this week. I had a two hour 40-minute wait and I have to work. Then the vendors that they're picking are subpar. They're horrible. It’s taken me two and three vendors to get a decent one.
My refrigerator had an ice buildup. I was on hold for two hours to file the claim while I was trying to do my work. The first company that came out was a young guy in holey jeans. He drove up in a small car, had no tools, and flip flops. He came in and looked at my refrigerator and told me it was the gasket on the freezer side then he went away. Then the problem was that there was this huge delay which was seven days. This guy's company called me and said they would send the guy back. He came out and I told him that he's putting in a gasket. He said that he didn't even know why he was there so then he Facetimes his boss and his boss said they couldn't fix it. I had to go again and file and call AHS to say that the guy had been out twice. 14 days had gone by and my refrigerator was not cold. The third company that came out was very professional and fixed the whole problem.
The same thing with the oven. The first guy said he couldn't fix it unless I tell what it was doing. I told him that the oven shuts off in the middle of baking a roast or it doesn't turn off at the end of baking. He asked what was the code on the digital panel. I didn't know I had to write the code down. Then he said he couldn't fix it and he left. I called AHS back with two hours wait. It was March and it was COVID, and they couldn't send anybody out. I waited as long as I could with a broken oven trying to cook things. Then they sent out another guy who told me that all the digital codes were in history. So, all the codes came up of what was wrong with the oven. The second guy diagnosed it then I had to wait another seven to 10 days to find out they couldn't find the part ‘cause it's an old oven.
They said I could order a part and they didn't tell me the size or shape. They sent me six ovens. I went on hold for another two and a half hours and I told AHS about it. They said that the appliance guy told them it would be my old oven size, so they suggested the exact same measurements. I picked out what AHS suggested and it was brought out. The vendor couldn't install it because the wiring in my house was three wires and the oven’s four, which none of us knew. Needless to say, I paid $1,400 yesterday to get the electrical change. Had I known this, I would’ve returned the oven. It's still sitting in my kitchen and it's another seven days until AHS would send an appliance guy to see if he could maybe install it. I don't even know if it fits, because they told me it was their company's pick. If it doesn't fit, then I'm stuck with an oven like that. It has been absolutely crazy.
My hot water tank broke right before COVID. Jacobs Family Plumbing came out twice and thought they fixed the problem those times. I didn't wanna call them back a third time. AHS was gonna replace it, but it would be three weeks without hot water. Finally Googled it, went to the hardware store, bought a flapper and installed it myself, and that fixed the problem, then get credit. I did it in three days and AHS was saying three weeks. The vendor was pleasant and nice but they didn't solve the problem. Also, they were dispatched from a city called Everett, and I live south of Seattle so every time they had to come down, it was over an hour, a 20-minute drive for them. The vendor vetting has to be a little bit better. Also, they're coming from an hour and a half away, so they're disgruntled when they get to my house. Maybe some of them chose to drive that far.
One time I called AHS and they told me to leave my number and they would call me back. That happened only once, and I don't know why they got rid of that. They called me back and that was more efficient than me holding a cell phone. It's bad advertising for them. I'm running around an office with 400 agents and they would ask why my cell phone is on music, ‘cause I'm waiting for my two and a half hours. So to me, calling the people back makes more sense than having us wait on hold. It makes people less angry. I wouldn't recommend them right now because none of my clients wanna be on hold for three hours.

American Home Shield is something good but nowadays, without a refrigerator, it’s hard to live a good life. My refrigerator stopped working and American Home Shield sent me a technician who showed me the compressor problem. One week later, I had another technician from another company. He checked everything and said the same thing. The second technician said the compressor is not working so he has to order. It was last Monday but I haven't heard anything from him. We're without a refrigerator for almost three weeks now. We've thrown away many things from the freezer. I don't understand why two contractors should have to come here and they said it's the same problem. It's a long time for me.

It's easier to submit a claim online. On the telephone, it's a long period waiting for a customer service rep. We had a claim about the igniter on the oven that wasn't working. AAA Appliance and Heating came out. The technician was professional, pleasant, and courteous. He fixed the existing unit. The repair was two parts. The second part was a knob and I thought they were going to mail i, but the technician came out and gave me the knob to door. I was impressed with that.
I’ve had some degradation of services prior to the AAA Appliance. I have an ongoing issue with the central air unit that was repaired, and then two weeks later, I had to pay a deductible to replace it. Every year I've been charged to put Freon in that unit so I have been at wits ends with American Home Shield on that issue. One of the service technicians came out and said that there was a fault in the install that was why I'm leaking Freon every year. American Home Shield's response to me has been, “Let us know the next time it happens.” Well, of course that's gonna be next season. But other than that, my service with them has been great. I’m a real estate agent and I've always recommended their service. At one time I had eight warranties with them. Over the years it's changed, but my experience with AAA Appliances was a good experience. They were wonderful.

The faucet leaked in the bathroom at the hallway and caused water to come down into our kitchen. I called American Home Shield to file the claim. It was a little frustrating because after I told the representative what happened, immediately, she said that it was not their issue. American Home Shield isn't responsible for when the plumbers had secondary damages.
Someone from the resolution team contacted me and said that I have to contact CKC Plumbing and tell them that I'm filing a complaint against them. I did that and I got an email saying that my plumber would be coming out on X date. My husband went over there with CKC Plumbing and they said they could see where the leak was and they would order a part. They said they would only responsible for $200 worth of repairs. Nothing has been repaired yet. We haven't heard from them and I don't know how long the part takes. Interacting with them was kind of impersonal because I didn't talk to them until they got to my door. The whole process was email or text. They sent me a text with a locator showing their location and letting me know that they were near.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

It's easy if I can get online and submit the claim. Half the time, that's not an option, so I call it in. But I've never had a problem with submitting a claim.
I had a pool issue and they sent Texas Pool Guy. The service guy was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and on time when he said he was going to be there. The issue was the filter wasn't changing over. Whenever I put it back on filter after doing a backwash, it was staying stuck on backwash. So, he changed out the spider gasket. When I submitted the claim, it was the next day they scheduled me for the service, and then it was a couple days out before they came. I was very satisfied with the timeframe.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had an angle stop that needed to be replaced. The contractor was a very nice guy and I had no problem with the work. He had to order parts and I was without water in the kitchen for two weeks. I’m just upset that I couldn’t get American Home Shield on the phone. It was at 11 or 12 o'clock on a Saturday night. It wasn’t during peak hours and I still couldn’t get anybody on the phone. I stayed on the phone for two hours and no one had ever picked up. So, I had to go to the online service which I didn’t appreciate at all. Also, I probably will be giving them a call any day now because they keep going up. I might not be able to afford them anymore so I might be canceling my contract altogether. It's not because of the service, it's ‘cause of the financial situation.

The thermostat on the wall needed batteries. I'm smart enough to know to change the filter and make sure the filter is in place, but the batteries slipped my mind. So the contractor came out and the batteries was all it was. The guy diagnosed it well. I have great experiences with American Home Shield. I'm not a real techie person. I'm not always at my computer where I can go online and place my order, which is very easy to do. Sometimes I'm on the road and I know something's wrong at the house, and I'm trying to call and they're kinda hard to reach sometimes during business hours. But they're open 24/7. Their 800 numbers are sometimes kinda tough. But they make it really easy online and if you call after 5 o'clock, generally you have zero problems getting through to them. I have the best luck with American Home Shield and so do my customers.

In the five years I've had the home warranty, they've been super beneficial although they are a hit or miss. Sometimes it take a long time for my issues to be fixed. But I like the fact that, at least, they listened to my claim and they were able to be responsive in terms of getting me assigned to a contractor and following through with the contractor to ensure that my job was done. Also, they were able to get some items replaced in my home such as my hot water heater, which is a major cost. They were also able to get some folks that were efficient to fix my HVAC.
For a plumbing issue I had, I got really good service from American Home Shield in terms of responsiveness. Everything went great. AA Twins Plumbing was able to get out here within a day or two. That was really good. The plumber called me beforehand and he asked me what type of garbage disposal unit I had. When he came in, he diagnosed the problem and said it looked like the garbage disposal had to be replaced. I guess he got the requisite approval. He was done within 15 to 20 minutes of replacing the unit. From the time I made the call to the removal and replacement of my garbage disposal unit, it took about three days. I'm super satisfied with that. Also, the plumber wore his mask the whole time and he had some booties on for his feet. Had no contact with me and he walked directly into the home in a straight path and followed that path out.

We've used American Home Shield twice for two different issues and we have not had any issues with them. They're reasonably priced and the web portal is easy to access. We did a claim when the front panel stopped working on our dishwasher. A serviceperson came out about a couple days later, diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. About a week after, the part came in. He came back and replaced it. He was professional.

The moment I turned on the hot water in the bathtub, it caused it to be like a waterfall in the basement. It was a leaky faucet and when I would fill the tub up to take a bath, it would flood out the bottom of the tub. I talked to AHS and their reps were friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. I was so grateful to even have a home warranty that was going to be taking care of my issue and I can't even describe how excited that made me when they said that they'd send someone out. Then I got a text and an email about my claim. It's a very simple app to use on my phone, so the process was easy.
When the tech came out, he was very knowledgeable and very polite. We talked and he told me that he had been in the business for 30 years. I trusted him immediately and he went above and beyond. He was also clean and neat. He got the job done and since the repair, my life has been 1,000% better. There has been no leaks or drips. The shower now works as well but before, I couldn't use it because it just sprayed out all over the place.

For the dryer fixing, the technicians came from Sears. It was the partner in that area. The first time when they came, they replaced immediately. But the second person didn't have the part, so he needed to go to the shop again and come back in the evening. It took a longer time, but that's fine. They didn't have the part easily. There were two issues. The first one, they fixed. Then again, after two weeks, the issue came back. Then the second time, it was fixed. The thermostat, which was causing the issue, was what they replaced. Now it is fine. Home Shield is good.

Nice Guy Appliance Repair showed up when they were supposed to and they didn’t give me a stupid six-hour window. They're a good subcontractor to have. The technician came on time and did what he needed to do. He was very professional and he gave us some good instructions on what the follow-up was. If we had any problems, he left his contact information. I couldn't have been more pleased. There were two visits when the dishwasher broke and we had the first initial consultation, and then the motor had to be replaced. That was all done within a matter of a week and a half, so I'm very pleased.
My young adult daughter might have wanted it fixed in three days though (she moved back in since the whole COVID thing, so she was the one that was washing the dishes). To me, it wasn't critical, so I was perfectly fine with the time frame. Other than that one time, I haven't needed to use the service, but I should have had American Home Shield since I bought the house. It provides peace of mind and it was easy to go online and book the service that I needed. I got them because they could service my area. It's fairly easy to submit a claim. I do them online but I also support with calling in to make sure that the information is neat. The one claim that we have submitted was for our water heater. The pilot light went out and they got it lit. Not a few weeks later, it started leaking so we had to call them back out and then it had to have some retrofitting. I had concerns about whether or not I needed to pay the deductible twice so I had to deal with the claim verbally as well as online. We put in a claim for their tenant to have something done over there. The property is in Arizona and the owner lives in another state. AHS assigned a vendor to go to her property in another state instead of her renter. They didn’t take any of the information I gave the rep and I don't have time to recall this. This service call has not been activated and I don't know what I'm gonna do. It is a serious issue that I've got to get straightened out and I can't even get through to somebody to talk to me. With our claim on our other home in Corpus, it was a nightmare. I had to make so many phone calls to American Home Shield and I had to jump over different representatives to finally get to the top. It was just bad. We were without an AC for two months and it was hot. Nobody wanted to help and nobody wanted to do anything. It was more of those written responses that they're trained to learn from rather than address the situation. And every time they would give a person to try to talk to, there was just no communication. It was awful. It wasn't until corporate got involved that we started seeing some things.
This past claim that I had on the second house, the representatives knew what they were doing. They were very efficient. I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised. By the time I got off the phone and I called the company directly for the claim, American Home Shield had already sent everything in. The next day, I had a guy come out, and within half hour, everything was fixed and he was on his way. I'm glad that things worked out better this time around. All in all, I wish I had known about AHS 5 or 10 years ago. A lot of times when there are issues in your home, you really don't know who to call. You just submit the request and then a rep has to call you back with everything else and schedule it. It would have been really good if it can be done end-to-end and the necessary information provided so you don't have to get separate calls. Other than that, I like the service. But I'm switching this year to another provider because they increased prices substantially over the last three years. I'm going with Choice because they have better prices.

The plumber told me that American Home Shield would cover a 1x1 hole in the ceiling such as the one that he cut in the ceiling so they would send out a second contractor to fix it. That was great because I had no idea they cover that. I thought I was gonna have to go out of pocket to fix the ceiling.
About a week later, a second contractor came and put a drywall patch in the ceiling. Now it's on us to kind of smooth it out and paint it, and that's basically it. I was happy with the response that we got from American Home Shield and both contractors were professional and very helpful. The work was pretty good for what we paid. I have, kind of online and through word of mouth, heard kind of some horror stories about these home warranty companies. But everything was great, so that was promising for me. We’ve kinda had American Home Shield forever. Some of their vendors are fantastic, but others, not so much. A Wisdom Electric and Island Heating and Air are great. I had a plumber years ago that I kicked out of my house. He was so bad and it resulted in us having to replace hardwood floors in our kitchen because he overflowed my sink. I also have a problem with the fact that when you have to replace something, they don't replace it of equal quality. They will only give you builder standard which maybe works for some houses but it doesn't work in mine.
If you've had a vendor out before and you like that vendor, you should be able to choose that person again and you should be able to do it online. You shouldn't have to call in to do it and you shouldn't be subject to just having to take whoever's next in line. There's one air conditioning company that I really like. It was at the height of heat wave and I had to wait online for almost two hours to get someone on the phone so that I could request that AC company. If they had a way that when you go online to request service, you can pick from a list of previous vendors who’ve been to your home and who are still active with American Home Shield, that would be so much better.

My ceiling is leaking now, which I knew that would eventually. Now I have to look at trying to find a plumber on my own, which I can't understand why I'm paying American Home Shield if they're not assisting me. They never follow up in a timely manner and it's frustrating because they don't have a problem taking my money out of my account on time every month. At first, I wasn't sure if it was covered but I was able to speak to someone in their customer service department and he was able to help me with it. It went great.
Brian was the tech who came and he was wonderful. The toilet has been fine since his repair. Brian realized that the wax ring was loose and it needed to be tightened up. It ended up being covered, which was great. Brian said if that was not the issue, it could be something that would not have been covered and it could be expensive. Brian was honest about it. Some of these contractors would have said, “You need this, this and this, and it's going to be $500.” But he didn't do that so I really appreciated that.

AHS had a $75 special about a routine maintenance call on the heater and I availed of that. They've done an awesome job for me and I've never had difficulties submitting a claim with them. A couple of years ago, they put a new hot water tank in for me. They also came out for my air conditioner and did the condenser on the outside. The only thing is, I'm not tech savvy with the online thing where you can put in the request online. That's why I like to call and I normally call them to request a service.

My air conditioner and my heater weren't working correctly. The heat wasn't coming on. The air would come on and then it would stop, like no connection with the thermostat at all. The technician guy was Jim and he was very nice and very professional. He assured me that it would run. When they came out at first, they put a transformer in and it worked for an hour and a half but it went off. Jim came right back. He put a new thermostat in and regulate it because with the old thermostat, when you turn the heat on, the air conditioning would come on. So he fixed that with the new thermostat. Now everything is working fine because it's starting to become cold, so I’m satisfied.
I love that American Home Shield acted on my claim. When I was with another home warranty company, my air went out and I called them on the 4th of June but nobody came out until the 13th. So I was sitting in a hot house all those days and then they came and put a fuse in. It worked one day and it was shut down again. I called on the 19th and no one came out until the 24th. It was so hard to talk to a person at that other place. My original selection was American Home Shield but I ticked the wrong company. But right now, I'm pleased with American Home Shield. AC Rescue came out for the AC unit. It wasn't maintaining the temperature in the house. I have two units. The upstairs was doing fine but the downstairs unit was not doing well. They did say that it was dirty but it was cleaned off. They had done something and got air in my line. Then it wasn't cooling off and it was blowing the breaker. So they had to come out three or four times before they got it resolved. They had to completely evacuate the system, refill it and work on it. Now the AC is working fine. I wasn't happy with it being four times out, but it is what it is. I also got a letter from Frontdoor, which I think is American Home Shield, saying that they won't service the unit until we get the issues resolved. But they had done something to that unit to cause it not to work which is why they came back so many times.
My dishwasher and microwave also broke within days of each other. It took two months for American Home Shield to get it resolved. The tech they sent out had broken the door on the microwave, put the handle on upside down and cracked everything so they ended up giving me a new microwave because the whole thing was all busted. It was all cracked. Then the dishwasher, the guy kept misdiagnosing it and he had to come back three times. I was freaked out. I said it was the wash pump but he said it was the door latch. It was the wash pump. It's not pumping the water. They finally did reimburse me for the dishwasher but after I had to go buy another one because I couldn't be without a dishwasher with eight people in the house.
American Home Shield takes a long time and they drag their feet. Part of it is the contractors that they hire. They're not vetted properly. This I know because I looked up the contractor that came and he's a handyman so appliances aren't his first thing. But we just renewed the contract and I'm keeping American Home Shield for now because I hear a lot of the warranty companies aren't good.

I went online to the American Home Shield website and requested a maintenance, I paid my deductible of $100, and then they set up an appointment. Our ice machine wasn't working and it turned out it was shot. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield and I just had to log in and select what type of system needed servicing. Once it came under appliances and it said refrigerator, it asked which part of the refrigerator. I put it in there and clicked submit. It was simple.
The contractor was very professional, polite and accommodating. He came in, did some basic troubleshooting and determined what was wrong with it all in a matter of less than 10 minutes. Then he called around and said that he didn’t have in stock the part that he needed. He could come back the next day and he would have it because he had to swing by this one place to get it. If he would go pick it up right then, it would take him out of all his other service calls that were scheduled. He came back promptly the next day and took care of it. He was in and out in five minutes. I thought the home warranty process would be a bunch of back and forth trying to get things fixed but it’s not.

Come to find out when we had Leslie's Pool come out to replace the sand for us, the pool pump itself was going out so we had to buy a brand new one. It should have been covered under American Home Shield but we didn't wait on them 'cause the whole pool went green. For the first claim, when the contractor came out to do the locks, that was fine. When I was with American Home Shield last year, the air conditioner went out and then the man came and took all of it out. He then said that they'll fix it, but it needed 11 pounds of Freon at $90 a pound. I was disgusted and I was pissed ‘cause I felt like the contractor drained it out. My thing is, at least, it was getting cold. He drained all the stuff out so then I'm stuck with having to buy another air condition ‘cause American Home Shield wasn't gonna buy me one. They told me, “It could be fixed but you have to buy the Freon.” There are a lot of things in the contract that I don't particularly care for, and that's one of them.
This year, I had a plumbing issue which they couldn't resolve, but they made it better. I got tree roots outside and they said they don't do tree roots. All they could do was tell me what was wrong. When I did the claim, I called on the phone, gave them my contract number and paid a $100 deductible. They then sent out a plumber, but the first plumber didn't do anything and I wouldn't recommend him. I could not use any facilities in my house.
I called American Home Shield and I got the option to get a second opinion for that same $100 deductible. When the second plumber came out, he did something so that I can use the facilities in my house without digging up my yard, which they don't pay for. He told me what the problem was too. The first plumber didn’t. I also put in a claim for the refrigerator and that one was the same. I called up, paid the $100 deductible, and they sent somebody out. I got a Whirlpool refrigerator, and they replaced the part in there and they left. It was fine.

Two days later, it's leaking again at the bottom and freezing the door shut. The tech is trying to get it replaced. He is also working on our cooktop that does not light up as well. Home Shield has done a great job for us but they don't want to buy us a new refrigerator. Sending somebody out four times to our location should probably be enough for them to get us a replacement. They were more proactive in making arrangement compared to the other company that we had when we first request the other plumbing job. I submitted the claim online for a bathroom leak and the contractor was great. But American Home Shield is not a good home warranty company. Waiting on the phone for an hour to an hour and a half is ridiculous and having to do that every time you need to speak to a customer service agent. I also don't agree with every single thing has to be another claim, another claim, another claim, so another payment, another payment, another payment. For example, the toilet was clogged up and also the shower. In order for them to look at the shower also, it would be another $125 payment with the toilet. But it was the same pipe. There shouldn't have had to be two payments of $125.
They sent me the email that said, "This person is gonna be out. If you wanna call them directly, here's their number." So whenever I googled that company to find out about them, it said that the company was no longer in business. So that prompted me to have to call American Home Shield to tell them that the company that they sent me was no longer in business. I chatted with them on one phone and I called them on another to try and get an answer quicker. But it still took me an hour being on hold. American Home Shield has to be careful with who they have a contract with. I've dealt with them before and I'm disappointed that they've had contracts with the wrong companies. This has been happening for the last three years too. My brand new refrigerator would just shut off when it was plugged in, so the outlet kept popping. It wasn't working and the previous company that was sent replaced my grid. It was a 15 and they changed it to a 20, but the grid was a used one. Right when the technician would leave, the same issue happened, but he wouldn't wait and test it. He just left. He fixed it, said it was done, and left. That never happened before.
The new guy from Energy Smart fixed the problem and it was the same power grid. Five seconds later, right as he was leaving, the refrigerator turned off again. He ended up replacing the grid with a new one and it's 100% now. We've had no problems with the refrigerator ever again. Energy Smart handled it well and it was quick, so their technician knew exactly what he needed to do. His customer service was amazing as well. He was really good and I'm very happy. However, American Home Shield has downgraded a little bit, so I'm shopping to see if I can find a better company.

So, the techs came out and replaced all the works inside the toilet, including the rubber washers around the bolts. They got it to stop leaking, but they're expected to come back tomorrow because when they replaced the things in the toilet, it's been running continuously every few minutes to refill the tank because it's leaking through the tank into the bowl. It's like the flapper doesn't seal well when it flushes and they're going to have to fix that.
Other than that, I have rental houses and I've been using AHS with all of them. We had a broken spring in our garage door. I was told that, evidently, the title company didn't pay the right amount of money. So first, I had to pay an additional $10. Then I found out that the warranty that they bought didn't include my spring, so I had to pay an additional $50. Then I had to pay another $100 to get my spring fixed. Then when I did call Ward’s Garage Door, I did get them out the next day, but originally I was told it would be Monday, which was not satisfactory when I can't get out of my garage.
Ward’s was wonderful. The tech was very personable. He got the job done. He didn't give me a bunch of running around. He just did what he was supposed to do in a timely manner. The contractors can't help when they're busy. But when you have a home warranty like that, and you're limited to who you can use, I would not have been a happy camper had I had to wait until Monday to get a spring fixed so we could get out of our garage.
It was probably American Home Shield’s fault that I feel like when we asked for a warranty, we were given the wrong one to begin with. But that was really on the Realtor. When we asked for a home warranty, I would have thought that our Realtor would have given us a home warranty that would have included the garage without us having to pay an additional $60 to get the warranty we needed and then pay another $100. The other thing is typically when one spring goes, the other one goes. I would have preferred that they would have replaced both springs so I don't have another call in two months and have to pay another $100 for the same thing they were out here for.

I have a filter underneath my house that I didn't know I had. They changed that and gave me extra ones and said, "If you have a problem, you call us and we'll come out and we'll change it." My unit works great.
The only thing with American Home Shield was I wasn't expecting to be charged. They charge me 70 bucks a month and I have had the home warranty for years and never ever used it. But the first time I did, it cost me 120 bucks to have the plumbers to come out. That kinda threw me off because when I first joined, they never said anything about it. I was told to call and somebody would come right out, which I thought was cool. American Home Shield might wanna tell people up front that it's gonna cost money. Other than that, it was great. It was a very pleasant experience.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

My garage door was acting up. In the summer, it would bounce and in the winter when I hit it, it would go all the way down and then start going back up by itself. The technicians American Home Shield sent from Garage Doors & More were very professional. They replaced the motor and track and did some minor adjustments to the door. My was too heavy and it wasn't being supported by the spring enough. Having them was a really pleasurable experience. I called this claim in on a Friday and by Monday morning Garage Doors & More was at my place and got the job done in no time at all.

The process on submitting the claim for our air condition was okay and that experience was good because I told American Home Shield that I wanted Hospitality Heating and Air. AHS was trying to give me the same people that always come and never do the right job, so I called and told them I wanted Hospitality. They are the preferred one that I would always choose because they come out and they get the job done. They're very courteous and prompt as well. Those other HVAC people that I dealt with, I don't know where AHS took them from.
When something is broken, they send people and I tell them not to send those other HVAC people for the simple fact that I had to repair almost 10,000. American Home Shield said that they were gonna do it and then when they found out that it was the secondary, they didn't do it. It's horrible, but there is no other warranty that I can go with.

American Home Shield has been very good on anything I've called on. If it doesn't apply, they'll tell me. When we moved, I had them redo the locks on the door. Then with my recent claim, I have a built-in dishwasher and it was broken, so it would just fall out. They sent Optimum Appliance. I have Viking appliances and they said with those, it either works or it doesn't. They were pretty simplistic and knowledgeable. My oven didn't work for a little while, and the guy came out and fixed that. AHS is always very responsive. When they say that you're going to get a callback, you get a callback. I've never had any problems with them in the small things that I've used them for. I would absolutely recommend them.

Water was leaking out of a pipe in my garbage disposal. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and their system told me I would be contacted in 24 hours. I made a call on September 6 for the oven. The technician was here. He said that there was something wrong with the control board, which needed to be replaced. Then he said it was no longer available so he was not able to fix it. American Home Shield offered me $300 for the control board. How could I fix it if they were not able to do so or find the control board? When I bought this policy, they promised me that if something went wrong, they would either fix it or replace it. The cheapest one from Home Depot cost 1300 and they only offered me $300 for the board. This has never been resolved.
I also made a claim for the furnace. A raccoon went inside the basement causing damages on the ducting system. American Home Shield didn't have a contractor in the city so they wanted me to find my own. I found one. I spent every day about 40 minutes to an hour to call them back and forth. Then I found a local one. They came and charged me 139. Finally, American Home Shield said they would not cover the repairs. I paid $100 and got nothing. It's not fair. I want that reimbursement from them. They put me on hold for 50 minutes, an hour, two hours. Then recently I had a plumbing issue. Jamie Parrish Plumbing came out and it took them a long time, but they fixed it. Overall, I'm really not happy with American Home Shield. We're not going to renew the service.

When it was over with, he put a little Freon in there and it's been working fine ever since. With the stove, the guy came out. He looked at it and took some information and sent off for a part. We had American Home Shield back in 2014 when we purchased our house. That was a year, then went with somebody else, and that was how I knew about the subpar experience from a couple of different other places. We purchased this house last summer and it came with the home. We were reminded about how good they are. And so, I renewed for another year ‘cause I'm very pleased with how fast they get out and how knowledgeable their people are.
We were having repeated leaks in the air handlers up in the attic. And with the way that the air was pushing, it was pushing the water out and along the tubes and causing leaks in my ceiling. C and R Plumbing Heating and AC came and they couldn't get the overflow pan to stop, capturing water and pushing it back. So, we did a couple of things in the interim ‘cause we were waiting from July to hear about a resolution that was more than just keep going up there and throwing towels into the pan and trying to blow out with a compressor.
They just replaced our handler for us in the last couple of weeks. Everything seems to be pushing really well. The air conditioner feels fabulous now and we haven't had any sign of leaks in the last couple of weeks. We're still monitoring it to make sure everything's good. We even got a little leak detector thing that sends an alarm to our phone if for some reason water ends up and sits on that pan. The technicians were phenomenal. They've been here a few times checking on things for us. They took their time and did a great job of putting everything in.
We also had a claim for a dishwasher that went bad. AHS sent people out to try and fix it, and there was no fixing. It wouldn't start or drain properly, so we had to get a replacement, and they were really good and fair about it. They sent us some choices. There wasn't a lot available because of COVID, so we opted to pick something out that was available, and they just gave us a credit so that was very convenient. We also had a garbage disposal issue that was fixed very well. We've dealt with other home warranty companies in this state and they are head and shoulders above the others.

But that contractor never called me back or never got in contact with me. I called a number that was provided on the email and I couldn't get a response. Five or six days later, I called back to Home Shield and explained the problem. They put me in contact with the Sears contractor. But then the tech told me he did pretty much the same thing on the last job he was on. He said it was fairly easy. He had all the materials with him to do it right there. Then the tech took a look at our dryer vent and gave some advice on that. It wasn't something he could fix or replace. We need to do a structural fix. Whoever built this house put the vent in that isn't big enough. So, we need to get that widened. But the tech from AHS was great. We've had him a couple of times come out for different issues. The AC unit stopped cooling. I sent in the claim and the only issue was that the contractor didn't show up the day that we expected them to, which based on the summertime in Texas, it's not unusual for them to have to go out one day. So that was really not a big deal, but we did go one day without cooling. But when the tech got here, it was in five minutes that he realized it was the condenser. He had the part on the truck, he fixed it, and left. So it was excellent.
We had one issue where we had a plumbing issue that the hot water heater had gone out. We ended up having to take care of that ourselves because the plumbing company that had come out didn't fix it then. We were without hot water for almost two weeks. So we ended up having it done through someone else. They came out and did it the next day, where the company that AHS had kept telling us that they were having to order a part. But that didn't keep us from re-upping for the year. Submitting a claim to Home Shield is pretty simple. But I wish that they would give you a little more opportunity to explain what you are seeing. But it's just kind of check the radio box for the type of problem that you think it is, and then they assign somebody to the claim.

I put feedback on the ones that have done a good job and I've done feedback on the ones that haven't to American Home Shield. I say, "Hey, I don't want these contractors or this company coming out again because they've done a bad job." I've also said, "Hey, these contractors, they know their stuff. They're on top of it. I want to use them from now on."
Requesting the service couldn't be easier. It's all online. The contractors will then reach out to me and we'll be able to do an appointment quickly, but getting ahold of American Home Shield itself and any follow-up or follow through has been hard lately. I'm sure that's because of COVID and the different things that are happening. My most recent claim has been with my refrigerator. I called in on the 11th and I wasn't able to get somebody to come out until the 21st. They took a look at the refrigerator, saw that the compressor was out, and that's the last I've heard of it.
American Home Shield put it as completed and I've been in the process of trying to get ahold of American Home Shield to figure out what's happening, so my latest one hasn't been that great. All the other times that I've had the people come out though, they've done well. When I'm having an appliance fixed, they come out, and they fix it. They're in and out. If parts have to be ordered, then it takes a little bit of time. I've got a dishwasher that I'm waiting to get parts for right now, but once the parts come in, then they're quick to come out and fix the issue. Overall, it's been a good experience.

Submitting claims with AHS is easy but some of the people that they're using are hard to understand sometimes because you can tell English isn't their first language. Sometimes it seems like they're giving you a script and not necessarily listening to the concern that you have. The turnaround time when the techs come out is reasonable depending on what it is. If it's a stoppage, like plumbing, it might be quicker than the AC or water heater. But in terms of them being responsive and getting someone out, that's fine. What usually takes the longest is the approval if you need to get a part or a replacement of some sort.
My hot water heater went out and the contractor came right away and looked at it. The tech looked at it in 15 minutes and they said they need to replace the water heater and he put in the claim. They were giving me this $2000 bill but it's supposed to be covered under warranty. I asked if AHS could send somebody else out to give me another opinion and they said no because the contractor will see the same thing in the system and give them the same result that it needs to be replaced. I didn't feel comfortable with that.
It was hard to get in contact with someone. I called twice and talked to two different people. They both told me the same thing. I took it on my own to call someone else out to come and look at it. It took him time, but he did his job. He was here for 30 minutes and he was able to recode it and it started working. I was very, very frustrated with that because the tech AHS sent out just looked at the water heater and was like, "You need a replacement." He didn't try to code it. With the back and forth with AHS, I had to wait and I had to go almost a week with no hot water trying to figure out what was what.
Also, they weren't able to fix it so I was out of my $75 fee plus 200 and something dollars that I had to pay out of pocket. I called and tried to get in touch with someone to kind of help me resolve this issue because I felt like the company that they sent out didn't do due diligence. I was on hold for hours before I could talk to someone and the rep since I went ahead and already paid for it, there was nothing they could do. They gave this other number who can at least reimburse the $75 fee. I put in the call and they took my information. I always asked to speak to a manager. Nothing was done.
I went on social media and after three weeks, a representative reached out to me through Twitter and asked me for a piece of good contact information to reach me. I could tell her first language was English. I was able to have a conversation with her explaining the situation. She was able to get my $75 fee and the diagnostic $200 fee for the other company reimbursed with no problem. If I would have been able to get to someone like her sooner, who could actually understand my issue and what I was going through, it would have been a lot more pleasant experience. My most recent claim was for the AC unit and Barstow & Sons Heating and Cooling came out. The tech was great and he did what I needed him to do in terms of resolving the issue.

He took the time to show me what happened and why it happened, and what needed to be done. I did have a service call for my AC and there was a technician that came out. My wife put the request in with American Home Shield for four items. When the contractor came, he said, "What's to be done?" I said, "I think it's this, this and this." I did not tell him about the toilet. So he got done. Two of them were very simple. Fixed the water heater then he left. I called back. The rep was like, "Why didn't you get the toilet fixed?" I said, "I didn't know it was on there." They said, "I see it here on the work order. He should have asked." I said "Yeah. He's a real nice guy. I don't want to give him any trouble."
So he came out and did the toilet. But then I had a leak, dripping from where the turn off valve is. Another guy came out. He put a bucket underneath it and he said, "I'm not qualified to do this repair. They need somebody more experienced than me." I said, "That's fine." I emptied the bucket a couple of times overnight. The other guy came out, fixed it and put the new valve on. But then I still had a drip from where he connected it on the toilet. I called him back. He said, "It wasn't seated properly." He fixed it really fast. He said, "Leave the towel here. Double-check it." I said I would and it's not leaking anymore.
The toilet repair took four trips because he fixed one thing and then it was something else and then he fixed that. Then it was dripping. But as crazy as it was, I thought they're one of AHS's better vendors. They were very nice and very accommodating. When I called, they were, "We'll be right out. Do you need this now?" I was like, "I think it'll last till tomorrow." They did good work. It's just that one thing kept leaking. I've had the pool guys three times. They've been great. I had another plumbing repair and the company ended up getting rid of the guy. They said, "We've had problems with him." The other guys came out and they were great.
But all in all, American Home Shield has been good, except for when I had one problem and it took four months to resolve on my oven and it wasn't my fault. It was very difficult to explain to the individuals. They were like, "We're so sorry." They had the same kind of, "Oh, we're so sorry, but it's gonna be okay." I was like, it's not okay because you're rejecting the repair.
What had happened was they pulled out the oven and they set the computer board to be repaired. The first vendor came out said, "We don't do this work." The next one came out, took it out. I said, "You can leave it." He said, "The wires are exposed." I said, "That's fine. I'm not gonna mess with it." The pool guy came and the first thing he did was went to the breaker box and saw a breaker off and he turned the breaker on. He was outside and I smelled smoke. The oven was smoking because of the exposed wires. AHS said, "It's not our fault." I said, "What do you mean it is not your fault? It was your vendor that came for the pool."
After months of back and forth phone calls, I got the oven. AHS gave me $700 credit on the oven, which they were willing to do at the beginning. I said, "No. Go ahead and repair it." They couldn't get it repaired once the guy burned up the wires. That was a debacle and at that point, I thought I hope I never have to use them again. But since then, things have been very good with AHS.

They came out the day after that. But the guy who came was good, cool, very educational and thorough. It was a good experience. Since the repair, everything's working great. I've been in the house for seven years and AHS is very responsive. Everything's been done extremely well and I'm enjoying it. I like AHS and I'm glad that I have them. It's a peace of mind.

American Home Shield is a good plan. There’s no reason not to endorse them. We were in the process of selling a place in Pennsylvania and buying one in Mississippi, and I wanted peace of mind for my wife if I had to be at the other property and she had somebody that she could call in case of a failure of some kind. Recently, TNT Garage Doors came out for an electrical issue and they were very nice people to work with. They sent me a text once I got off the internet and filed the claim. The motor on the garage door unit quit and they determined that it would be more economical to replace the whole thing than to try and repair parts. They seemed to know what they were doing.

I filed a claim for the sink with Home Shield online and the claims process went pretty smooth. I was at work when I got the information from my wife that the sink was not working and I logged in. Within three minutes after I sent my request, somebody called me and scheduled an appointment. It was very flexible as far as scheduling.
A & S Plumbing figured out that it was locked and it needed to be replaced, which they did. Also, the water in the bathtub was kind of overflowing but there wasn't any issue with it. They just explained to me that when we go into the bathtub, we shouldn’t fill it all the way up. The tech was really nice and very professional. He explained to me everything and communicated with me. He let me know what I need to do in case the sink is locked up again and showed me how to use it properly. He did a really good job and it was a really good experience.

The sump pump in our basement went out so we couldn't flush the toilet. We couldn't use the bathroom at all. We called American Home Shield and it was a nightmare as far as trying to get somebody out here. My husband called it in and when he called back, they said that the claim had been closed. He said it hasn't been closed so they had to reopen another one. That was on a Thursday morning and we had to wait until Friday night for a guy to come out. Sump pumps were not his specialty and he said he couldn’t fix it and we needed a part. He needed to call the warranty company. They came back a week later to replace it. So, we were a whole week without a bathroom. Our contractor was working on our other bathroom and he put in a toilet so at least we could go to the bathroom. I had to go to my mother’s to shower. We didn't have anything because it decided to go out at the same time that we were having our other bathroom renovated.
The repair got done and overall, it was fine. It’s just the frustration of having to wait was not fun. It was the holiday weekend so we got screwed that way too because nobody would come out on a weekend. Then, they had to wait to get approval from the warranty company to replace the whole part. It seemed like it took a lot longer than it should have just because we didn't have access to a bathroom. It was a lot of phone calls and back and forth between the plumbing company and the warranty company.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The claim submission with American Home Shield online is a no-brainer. But if you wanna get some clarification, then it becomes a little bit more difficult. Usually the hold time is just a couple of minutes and then they ask you for your phone number and they'll call you back. Of the few times I used it, I got a call back all but once. The one time I didn't get a call back, they told me it was an hour and 20 minutes or so wait. So, they must have really been backed up. With regards to the replacement of a piece of equipment, I was on hold for an hour and a half until I got picked up by the department that would provide the replacement equipment, which was really not very pleasurable. They don’t have the same on customer service ability on that line. But in general, what American. Home Shield has done for me far exceeds my expectations.
The tech from A & S Mechanical has been in the house a couple of times. He's pleasant and timely. I’ve been pleased with him so far. He represents the company well. We've had two incidents where we've waited 21 business days before we had known whether it was gonna be repaired or it was gonna be replaced. So they came and repair the refrigerator. Then another technician had to order two other parts. I was not happy with that particular service‘cause I was told by somebody that after 21 days, if the contractor couldn't find a part, then they would take over and look for the part. But the company told them two weeks before that the part was not available.
I was told by AHS that I would just have to wait and it could be weeks. I was so annoyed, I called up about midnight and I got somebody from the US call center and she was extremely helpful. When you speak to a domestic customer service person it's 1,000 times better than when you’re speaking to their offshore ones. The offshore is only reading from a script.
The next morning, AHS called up and said that. they were gonna replace it. So from a financial standpoint, I am not unhappy. I understand that there's COVID out there, which is an automatic excuse for everybody, so I accept that. I accept the 21 days they have to go find all the pieces of things. But then if it was not gonna be fixed, then they should do what they were supposed to do. Other than that, I would recommend it to a friend with a caveat that there's a timeframe for them to replace something.

Leak Seekers Plumbing did good. They were very prompt and professional. The flushing mechanism on the toilet was not working. I was having to take the lid off the toilet and manually flush the toilet from the inside and they replaced that. They fixed it and we were very happy with them. We had had a previous call with that same toilet a few weeks prior and Rapp's Heating, Air & Plumbing came. There was a clog in the toilet. The flushing mechanism was working but nothing was moving. It took them a very long time to get there and then when they came, the plumber said it was working. I called back because my mom is there all the time and I had asked for a 30-minute heads up so that my husband could get home and they did not do that.
I called them back and said that I would like to talk with the plumber. He was telling my mother that there was nothing wrong. We have a toilet that hasn't been flushing for a week. They said that they would have him call me and he never did. So, I was less than impressed with them. That was more of a local issue with the particular plumber or HVAC service that American Home Shield sent someone from but we've been we've been very pleased with them. I have recommended them to multiple people. We’ve had them since we bought the house, which has been about five years. If you try to reach someone on the telephone to submit a claim, it has been a little difficult but if you do it online, they have been very responsive that way.

I called up and it goes just like Home Shield said it would - pay your 75 bucks, then they would send somebody out. You call Home Shield up or you go to their website and you tell them what you need done and then they take care of it. And they do all the back work. The biggest issue was me because my schedule kept changing and I had to keep trying to push them back so I could be there when the AC guy was there. So, I was the more difficult thing out of all that than any of the service.
The bearings on the outside fan on the AC unit went bad and it started to knock and had a very loud metal-on-metal sound. And then, there was another component that the tech found that had gone out, a transistor, and it was handled very well. The guy was very good and very personable, and professional. He dressed professionally, and a professional truck. The home warranty takes care of what I need to take care of. So, I don't have to worry about anything with my house, because the whole thing is warrantied. So, if anything goes wrong, I just call Home Shield up and take care of it. I don't worry.

We had a great run with AHS for many years, even referring others to them for their own home warranties. Unfortunately, this ended 3 weeks ago (9/2020). We had a service call for our dishwasher. A tech was sent who evaluated the repair and ordered the parts. He returned a couple of weeks later with the parts and completed the service repair without one part that was still back ordered. Before leaving, the tech told my husband that we should request a repairman trained in repairing General Electric products. We ran the dishwasher and the leak was worse than what we started with. My husband spoke to a representative regarding the issue and she stated that all tech are trained on all products. This is not true according to the tech that we had. My husband then said we should not be required to pay for a service call that was unsuccessful, and she disconnected the call. We have moved on to a service we have confidence in. I advise that you do the same.

Problem keeps repeating, they make money on contract fee and service fee, it's vicious circle. Over the period of time their service degraded so much, stay away from this company at any cost, deserves -negative stars.

My refrigerator was getting hot and it was making a loud noise. I called American Home Shield and they referred me to a repair service place. I then read the reviews for the service place, and they were bad. I called to see if I could get another repair place, and they told me no. I cancelled it, but then I decided that I didn't have another option, so I called American Home Shield back and they put the call order again. The repair place then came and they diagnosed the problem. The guy said I needed a new fan and unfortunately, because it was an older refrigerator, he had to order another part. He called me when it was in. He then came, put it in, and everything has been fine.
It was very hot during the time I was gonna have to wait for the fan, so the guy offered a suggestion. In the meantime, he put one of my home fans in the back of the refrigerator so that it would cool off the compressor. It kept the refrigerator running so that my food didn’t get ruined. That was very cool, so I gave him a good review. It was funny because the guy who came was the guy that most of the bad reviews were about. The people that had a bad experience, he said that, usually, if the warranty company doesn’t cover something, they get very hostile. All in all, I have had two experiences and they were both positive. One was years ago when I first bought my condo and this was the other one.

I talked to the rep about it over the phone and I started to describe it. And right away, he said that he was 99% sure that based on the model and on what I was telling him, he knew what was wrong with it. Then, he came out and fixed it in about 20 minutes. It was awesome and now, the dryer is silent again. I'm super happy with my experience with AHS. Luckily, it was cool during the mornings but it got up into the 90s in the afternoons.

It was getting American Home Shield to approve the piece that took a long time. They said that Home Shield couldn't find it in their system. I even reached out to Home Shield ‘cause I hadn't heard anything back in two days. They told me that they had to speak with the American Air Conditioning company. They went back and forth for a day then a second person had come out to address it. That person had to come out two different times so there were three visits total. Whenever we initially set up with Home Shield, we were told it was a $50 charge for anybody to come out. I requested service for a water heater repair and the process was seamless. I live in the Houston metropolitan area, which is large, and there was an initial plumber assigned, but they were a group from the northwest side of town. I'm down on the southeast side. To drive along is about an hour and a half, so I preferred somebody that was a little more local. American Home Shield accommodated me nicely on that and I'd worked with them in the past. We were able to get a local provider from American Home Shield, and they turned out to be a spectacular, wonderful bunch of folks. They were very experienced, professional, engaging, and they knew what to do and how to do it. We got everything fixed perfectly well. The water heater is so old and they made it behave like it was new. It's got a few more years left in it, so I'm very pleased. If I need plumbing in the future, I will certainly be utilizing them again.
People need to understand that patience is something you have to exercise when you're having a repair of a major component of your home undertaken by a contractor. Things don't always happen perfectly the first day because sometimes parts don't fit. Sometimes, they have to rectify situations that they weren't aware of initially. On my particular call, we found out that we had to put in a second service request because the isolator valves to the water heater weren't functioning. I happily put in a second service request and they came out and did that as well. That allowed the rest of the procedure to go ahead and continue. So I just ask homeowners to understand that the world is not a perfect place and neither are our homes.

On the initial visit of the technician from Service Plus Repairs, he changed out a part and when he finished, he turned on the dryer for about five minutes. We didn't smell anything. So, we were good. I was nervous using the dryer with the gas smell. So I haven't been using it. When my husband came home and we did the laundry, I could still smell the gas and he said that I have to call the contractor back. So, we did. They came back out today and has just left. He had me run the dryer for 30 minutes while he was coming and when he got here, he said he didn't smell gas outside and in the laundry room. I told him to stop the dryer and open the door. As soon as he did that, the gas hit him in his face. I said that it was the smell that I was smelling.
The technician said the last time he was here that the part that he changed out was the only part that would be a gas issue and with this, it was in the drum. So, if we already repaired and replaced whatever part is controlling the gas, it's got to be something with that. He said that we’re just gonna have to figure this out. There's got to be something else. So he said he was gonna get back with me and that he was gonna go talk to his supervisor to see what else they need to do. I don’t feel like the contractor knew what they were doing.
I'm uncomfortable using this dryer because of the gas smell. The smell is in my clothes so we've been using our neighbor's dryer because I don't want the gas smell on my kids' clothes. When I first smelled the gas, I called the gas company out immediately because I thought it was something with the house. When they came out, they did a very thorough check with everything and they said that it was the dryer itself. It's not anything to do with the plumbing in my house. So, I called American Home Shield to ask if it was possibly the dryer. It was not functioning properly and there was a gas smell. They said that it could be. So they sent out an appliance service person. They thought they fixed it but they did not. At this point, they should be taking it apart to see what's wrong but they didn't.
I had the same problem with the water heater. It was around the same time. The technician had to come back out here twice because it wasn't initially what he thought it was. He had to come back out to fix it the following week. I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield and I haven't had an issue with them. It's just the service people that are coming out. If we could pick our own contractors that we know would do a good job, it would probably go a lot smoother.

He knows the property and he knows the system so he fixed it very quickly. The claims submission process with AHS is great. It's when I have to call them that's an issue. I had a wall unit that had to be replaced and no one contacted me about it, whether that be AHS or the contractor. I had to call and follow up. That was back in August and I still have not seen that AC unit. Then, they said it's supposed to come in on Thursday. Also, a second issue came with a stove that I had. The vendor didn't fix my appliance even though I put the type of appliance in so I had to call because I didn't wanna be charged again for somebody who they thought they had sent out.
It was a minimum 20-minute wait just to be able to speak to somebody, every single time that I've called. When it works, it's great but when it doesn't, it's really bad. Fortunately, the problem that I have for the stove is one that I can sort of live with. But I don't know how dangerous it is and they're not following up. I wish following up is with the same ease that you can submit a claim. It's something that I feel like everybody needs to have, I just wish it was easier to use.

Within the last four months when we called to verify if something was covered, we were told it wasn't and we found out after the fact that it was. So, that was confusing because the American Home Shield agent didn't seem to understand what we were even asking for. We submitted a request and then someone came out after the fact and fixed it. We almost paid out of pocket to get a whole new whole house fan put in until we were persistent and kept following up with AHS about it. So, that was frustrating
We've also had instances where we have had claims denied. We submitted something for our pool heater a few months back and they said it looked like there could've been some rodents. We opened it up and didn't see any type of rodents there. We got a letter from AHS saying it was denied so that was frustrating because we paid $2,000 out of pocket to get a brand-new heater. So, we've had challenges not so much with scheduling for contractors to come out but getting things covered and with agents' understanding what we're asking for. The latest claim was when the air conditioning stopped cooling but that was a positive experience. The contractor was able to troubleshoot it quickly and get the issue resolved. That was great.

I was dissatisfied with the previous company I was with. I requested some repairs and it seemed like it was a never ending process only to find out in the end that they didn't really fulfill the service that they promised. I went with American Home Shield and recently, Cooper Appliances came out to fix my broken icemaker and my refrigerator freezer. So far, it seems to be working fine. We haven't had any issues. It seems as though there is a slight issue with the ice still dropping not into the basket. But I'm trying to see if reorganizing that may have some effects on that before I even suggest that there's a problem.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Barfields Appliance came out for like a pulley system. It was really squeaky. The tech said he had to replace the pulley system. They did a great job. He came out. He assessed it. He said he didn't have the part on hand and he said that the process involved calling American Home Shield to make sure that they could order the part. He set me up so that it would work for like a week or so but he said it definitely needed to be fixed. He came back and fixed it when the part came in. It was great.

We put a request in for an AC unit that stopped working. The company came out and it was just a simple part replacement. The guy took care of it timely. He followed the protocols of today with everything going on. He had a mask, did his thing and kept distance. He was polite and professional. Everything was good from there. The AC is working as expected since. I would recommend American Home Shield so that others will protect themselves for any unexpected out of pocket expense above just paying for the actual fee for the visit and not having to pay for labor and parts.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The contractor took the order right away and came out. The guy said that there was a clog in one of the tubes that went into the fridge. It was draining water down the backside of the fridge and it was creating ice underneath the drawers for the produce at the bottom. There were sheets of ice and it would have to be chipped out all the time, like every three days. He said he fixed the clog in the drainage and it should be all set to go. A few days later, it started happening again. We had to call them back and ask them to please come back out. He said he went back out and replaced a part, and it should not be causing any more issues. I have not seen if it has been completely fixed or not. We're giving it a little bit of time. But I will definitely be calling Home Shield back if it isn't resolved.
The one thing that I wasn't happy with is that when I had to call it back in the second time, I said to Home Shield that whatever the guy did didn't fix it 'cause it was back and it was doing the same thing it was doing before. They said, “When we send him back out, we'll decide if we're gonna charge you another service fee, if it's something else.” I said, “If your guy can't predict or tell us what the problem is and is incorrect on that, why am I getting dinged for that?” The issue was the same issue and they didn't come back and get me, but the fact that they said that kind of irritated me because if my refrigerator isn't working correctly and they’re going to send someone out to fix it, I would think it would be diagnosed correctly or it would be on them to fix it correctly.
That's our most recent issue with having to contact American Home Shield. The other issues have been good, except for one, and that was the dishwasher. It wasn't working correctly. We called on it and the contractor came out. They said that it needed to be replaced. I ended up having to replace it and it cost me quite a bit. I not only had to pay their fee but also I had to buy a new dishwasher and they wanted to pay very little for the replacement. There's more to it than just that. There were a lot of phone calls going to American Home Shield. There were long hold times, hours sometimes.
The guy that they sent out to try to repair the dishwasher basically told American Home Shield it was not repairable. It needed to be replaced but they didn't step up to the plate on that one. They have in other instances outside of the dishwasher. They did for our HVAC unit and hot water heater. Those two experiences were great. But the dishwasher was a horrible experience with American Home Shield. Then this most recent one with the refrigerator, they sent out a repair guy but he didn't fix it. We had to call back and American Home Shield tried to charge us again for the exact problem that they didn't fix. I question whether or not their service people that they hire are good people. Some are good, some aren’t. We did some research on the repairman that came out to do the dishwasher and he had all negative reviews. All of the reviews were stating that they were customers through American Home Shield and this is the guy that they contracted to fix dishwashers.

American Home Shield is super easy to use. Normally, they provide fast service. I had one experience last summer when my air conditioning went out and they couldn't find anybody. But it was the middle of summer so I get it. It was nothing against them. They are always finding somebody for me to fix whatever I need. Recently, I called in to have 2 repairmen, one to repair a faucet and one to look at a couple kitchen appliances. I had a really good experience with the faucet company. American Home Shield has sent them before for the plumbing and they did amazing. They always have. They're always super nice, super polite and on time. They always called. I've not had a bad experience with them.
The kitchen appliances one was kind of a jerk. I wanted him to look at my fridge, the lights underneath my microwave, and the heating element in my stove. He did give me a name of a company where I could purchase the part for my fridge and my microwave 'cause he said it wasn't covered. He did run a test but he pretty much kinda made fun of me a little bit. He didn't think there was a problem.

The toilet was clogged up and so was the mainline, and it came up in my tub too. It was not pretty. But Triple S Plumbing was great and they fixed the problem. It was a hot day that day too when the guy came but he was very professional and courteous. That's something I really don't see in a lot of service people. My very first call, they gave me a window from 12:00 to 5:00 for my dryer. I waited from 12:00 to 5:00, and at 5:10, I left. I had no phone call. I tried to call them and they didn't pick up, so I left.
As I was driving to wherever I was going and they called my cell at six o'clock and they were on their way. But I wasn't gonna wait until six o'clock or 6:30 when they gave me a window from 12:00 to 5:00. That, to me, was not professional. So I called American Home Shield back and complained. That company tried to have the Home Shield rep tell me that they would come the next day. But I did not want them to. I needed someone else and Home Shield transferred it to another place and they came during their window and fixed my dryer.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

We moved here to Las Vegas eight years ago from California and we were able to hook up with a Realtor, who had been recommended by some friends that we have here. She has done nothing but serve us well both in terms of finding our rental home when we first moved here and then she worked with us to find the home that we purchased. I called her and I said that we were thinking about a home warranty coverage. Without hesitation, she recommended American Home Shield. Interestingly, we have a rental in California and we talked with our property manager there and he doesn't recommend American Home Shield in California so we went with a different carrier there. But here, we're quite happy.
We did a little bit of research and everybody has their different star ratings. I am savvy enough to understand that when people don't get their way, they're gonna give poor ratings because they wanna have their way. We pay for the service with American Home Shield and this is the first time we've had to use it. It was seamless and it went exceptionally well. The service tech was excellent and he answered all my questions. Also, he was here in a timely fashion. It couldn’t be any better. I have nothing but compliments for both AHS and Accent Air. I filed a claim probably two months earlier. Our refrigerator was doing a weird sound and it stopped making the noise that it was making over the weekend. I called a day or two before the service call was scheduled to take place and I had no problem canceling that and getting the refund. AHS could lower the service charge though.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The AC was not cooling properly and Total Air Care came out and added Freon. After they left, I realized that the something was running continually in the system. So I called them back and they came right back and looked at it. We’re waiting for a part to come in to get it repaired. They've been wonderful and amazing to deal with. My air situation is somewhat emergent and they're doing the best they can. But if I were dealing with someone else, it might get resolved a little faster. At the same time, I have 100% confidence that once that part comes in, the rep from Total Air will call me and he'll be back out here as quickly as he can.
People should not expect things to happen quickly though. There's a little more work than just calling someone directly to get the work done. The process that’s involved in coming out, diagnosing, ordering the part, coming back, getting rescheduled to come in, coming back and getting it repaired is the extra layer of filing the claim. But it's worth it for the protection that I'm getting.

The refrigerator needed a new filter and the microwave was not working. I called it in and it was good with the rep. The contractor was good. They were very nice. I told them that the ice machine wasn't working and they told me that with the new filter, it would start working again. The only thing is I was told that ice would be coming up but it's not so I have to call again. I called the contractor to tell them about about the ice and they said that I would have to call American Home Shield again because the ice machine would cost around $200 for me to do it on the side and if I call the American Home Shield, it'll be $75. Other than that, everything was fine.

When I first spoke to the gentleman from Magic Appliance, I told him there were three ceiling fans that needed to be fixed. So he told me to call in and put an order for three ceiling fans. I did that and they came towards evening time, which was fine. They fixed the one ceiling fan in the master bedroom. They gave me a remote. It was the receiver that I had issues with so they took care of that. The other two fans were pull strings. In the girls’ bedrooms, it worked for some reason. But with the third fan, the tech said it needed a remote. If there were missing parts, they would not cover. But I explained to him that the fan is pull strings and it's not a remote control. There's a switch on the wall and then you pull the string. The receiver wasn't working properly. So he fixed two out of three and he said they have to give the report to American Home Shield. That went on but the third fan was not fixed.
I moved to a new place and I wanted to continue services with American Home Shield. I was paying close to $45 a month and the co-pay was 75 bucks. Whoever I spoke to when I called tried to charge me close to $55 or $60 and then the copay was 100. It didn't make sense to me. So I cancelled it. For someone who's been with them for five years and then trying to charge me more and lose a customer, I don't think that was very wise.

CD’s Appliances came out and looked at the microwave. The tech turned it on and he knew exactly what it was. He then needed to order a part. He did that and when the part came in, he came back and he fixed the microwave within 45 minutes. That is working perfectly. The tech also had his mask on. In fact, I apologized for not having mine on when I answered the door. CD’s Appliances was great. They were very nice and thorough. They didn't leave me in the dark. It was perfect. But I have two things that I'm not happy about.
I had called and paid $125 to have someone come out and look at the microwave prior to that because the fan wasn't working. The gentleman that came stuck a piece of paper under the fan and said it was sucking air so it was working. But I said it was not working. When you put it on high, it had a very low suction. You could tell the difference between when it was working on high because it was so loud when it stopped working. Basically, that was a waste of $125. A couple of months later, the magnetron went out on the microwave. Another company came back and fixed it. I was a little annoyed that I had already paid $125 to tell them that the fan and the microwave are one unit. The tech didn't even do anything.
And there was the second unhappy incident that really got me. My AC wasn't working. It kept running and it wouldn't shut off. An AC company came out from Home Shield and their tech told me that they had to take the unit with them. I live in Florida. I said, “Are you kidding me? You're gonna take my AC unit with you? What am I supposed to do for four days? You say two to three days, but we all know it's gonna be four or five, maybe seven days.” I have two dogs and I work from home. I can't stay in this house without AC. Now, I've gotta pay for a hotel. I've lived in Florida for 15 years and I've never had this experience in my life. When you call an AC company, they come out and they fix it.
The tech said it was because they don't make a lot of money on these contracts. They were gonna take it out and bring it to the shop. But that really was not my problem. They made the contract arrangements with Home Shield and not me. I told the tech that I own this homeowner’s warranty and pay for it every month. But because of that, I was gonna get a lesser service than I would if I called another company to come out and fix it. By the time I rented a hotel and paid for boarding for my dogs at the vet because not a lot of hotels take dogs, I might as well pay to have the AC fixed myself. That was exactly what I ended up doing. It didn't make sense to me.
I was not happy about that either. That cost me another $125 for the visit. I tried reaching out to American Home Shield about that but could never get anybody on the phone. I call and it goes into an automated system. My contract is going to be up next month. I just threw up my hands and said to forget it. I would never pay for that service again. One of the main reasons I bought this warranty plan was because of the air conditioning unit. In August, you feel like the temperature is 102 outside and it's 95 on the thermometer.
Hi Kimberly,
I would be glad to speak with you and assist with getting the issues resolved.

After making a claim for my pool, it initially took a couple of days for the contractor, Pure Pool Service, to come out and I wasn't satisfied with the timeframe. There were also a couple of issues with the placement of the filters. It got a little complicated. They said something about a water damage. American Home Shield did not cover it. Pure Pool Service could not do some of the stuff and we paid an additional fee for them to replace the pump. It dragged a little bit. After that, it took a while for them to get back to me to tell me how to turn on the pump. Other than that, it was fine.
American Home Shield is okay. But there were some things that I expected to be covered that were not. Also, they renewed my contract and failed to renew the same number of things that were covered. Initially, they did not cover my pool which was a mistake on their part. They went back sometime later after we complained and checked and realized that they had renewed a lesser number of things that were covered. They corrected that and finally sent someone for the pool. They resolved the issue but it took some time.

Sometimes, my requests are handled very well, while sometimes, it's handled in a slipshod manner. Overall, I'm not too thrilled right now. The last time I had any interaction with American Home Shield, it took three months to get a check sent to me for equipment that we replaced. I was being held up because somebody had vision issues. Apparently, the people on American Home Shield's end couldn't read the invoice that we faxed over so I had it FedExed to them. I made sure that somebody signed for it so I had proof that they got it.
I also had a prior incident where I sent in a request for service for an air conditioner, the service people came out and it's supposed to be being dealt with. The contractor was fine, but they're supposed to be getting a new coil, and that's supposed to be due in. They were here on Saturday. I had two plumbing issues. One was taken care of while the other one still hasn't been. But I got a phone call from the plumber who will be here to take care of it, which is not an emergency. It just needs to be taken care of. There was only one issue I had with them. I have a well, and my pump went out inside the well. I know there is a well guy here in town, and I have no water. So, I called him to come fix it, and then I called Home Shield. But they said they wouldn't cover it because I didn't call them first. So, I said, "Well, you guys take too long to get back to me. I needed water. I needed this fixed." They deal with some people out of Redding, California, which is a town 50 miles from me, and they would have probably taken two to three days to get out here. The guy that was local came out immediately. And that's what I tried to explain to them, but they would have nothing of it.
When Home Shield sent out Andy Simmons Plumbing, the tech did a wonderful job. Everything is working fine. He just had to come out one more time to do some snaking and replace some pipe just directly on the outside of my house. It goes into my main drain that goes into my septic, and Home Shield wouldn't cover that because they said it's on the outside of my house. But it's part of my inside of my house, but they said they won't cover it. So, that part has to come out of my pocket. Also, Home Shield takes a bit long to get back to me. For instance, if I waited to call them about my pump system, I know it would take forever for them to get somebody out here. That's why I just did it on my own. But overall, I'm fairly satisfied.

Then, when you call back to get a different contractor, they try to play you and be like, “Oh, well, that’s all we have.” I call it being lazy. So you don't wanna call around to find another vendor. It’s their job, to find me somebody that's available this week. They don’t like to do that.
I just called on Saturday to place a claim because my dryer is out. However, the appliance place that they referred to, called me just now and was like, “We have an opening next Wednesday.” I was like, “No, I'm not waiting a week and a half to receive service. I had a leak in my ceiling, and so I contacted American Home Shield for a claim. They sent a plumber out to check the issue. The plumber was okay, but the issue was not resolved. The leak was from a tub, so I have water coming into my ceiling, and it's getting bigger. The plumber needed to come out a second time, and they charged me a second deductible for it. Two guys have come out now since the first issue. Both have showed up three hours late to our appointment window. The first guy showed up three hours late to the appointment window and was so rude about it. I asked him to leave my house. Then they had a second guy come out who also showed up three hours late. So, it was 7 o'clock at night, and I had surgery the next day. He told me I needed to move all my furniture if I wanted him to fix the issue.
At 7 o'clock at night, I had to move like bookshelves and desks and he wouldn't touch my furniture. I had to do it myself. I physically was incapable of moving my furniture, and I wasn't about to do this at 7 o'clock at night when I had to be up at 5 o'clock in the morning for surgery the next day. He had to cut a hole in my ceiling. So, I said, "Can we just do this another time?" I had surgery on Thursday. I've been recovering all weekend. I checked my bank account. They charged me for two deductibles now. So, now I have to call them and tell them that I want them to come fix the issue that was never fixed the first time. I'm stressed out about the whole thing and having just had surgery is not fun. So, once they get this issue resolved, I'll probably be cancelling because it doesn't seem valuable at this point.
Another issue is there's a hole in my soffit where a critter could get into my house. And so, it's not my roof. I could use help from a contractor, and I don't know who to call, and American Home Shield doesn't either. They said, "Well, that's not us. It sounds like your roof, and we don't do roofing." I told them it's not my roof. It's on the exterior side of my house. They still said, "Yeah. That's not us."
Then I called for an issue, and they had a drywaller call me. I said, "But it's not drywall." I told them it was like an attic situation and they had a drywaller call me. They were very confused and not very helpful when I call. I don't know that I would continue the service based on these two experiences. I'm very dissatisfied. Originally, filing the claim online was okay, but you should be able to talk to somebody and have a discussion.

Other than that, AHS has saved me more than I can ever imagine on some of my appliances breaking down, especially my central air and heating. Sometimes I get some feedback about that. And then they want to switch to another plan. As a Realtor, it's a little annoying when I have to get somebody else to cover it because they want to pay for the least amount of warranty.
But other than that, submitting claims is really easy, especially when I go online and do it. My icemaker was not making ice and there was low flow coming through the front water line from the front of the refrigerator. Demand Justis Services came and they replaced the icemaker and fixed my water as well. They did it relatively quickly, too. They had to wait for a part, but it came much quicker than I expected.

We were not getting any cool air from our AC, so I put in the claim through the website of AHS. I was really pleasantly surprised that, immediately, it said who the vendor was and I didn’t know it would do that. Smart Heating & Cooling showed up with a phone number, so I called them right away and left a message. I called them on a Saturday and they called me on a Monday. They came out, fixed it, and we had no problem. We had some additional work done that was not covered under the warranty as we needed cleaning and that worked out pretty good, too.
Dealing with AHS is fine as long as you don't have to talk to anybody and you can do it all online. But if you have to call, it's terrible and you have to wait almost an hour and a half to two hours to get somebody to answer. On our first claim on the refrigerator that went out, we filed it in July and we just got a new refrigerator this week. It was awful and very frustrating because it took so long to get it replaced. It was also the calling, being on the phone, and trying to get somebody to help me. I had to go to my real estate agent and say that I didn't know what was going on. I told him that I would never buy AHS again and that I didn't even know how it could be recommended. So he got on the horn and got a lot of people involved. And finally, we got it resolved.
Still, I had to go to that level for that claim. But it wasn't necessarily all American Home Shield. The vendor here locally, Affordable Appliances, was horrible and not able to fix the device, but they were not telling them that they couldn't fix it. They were saying it was something else and that was what delayed the process. So, I'm hoping that Affordable Appliances will never be recommended again for American Home Shield because they were not professional. They also didn't show up on time and were two hours late. Then, they said the problem was one thing, when it was another. And then, they said it was the same thing that I thought it was. So, I am super happy that we got a brand new refrigerator, but we had three months of going back and forth to the garage. AHS could have handled that claim better and it could have gone a little more seamless.

I had a refrigerator claim with AHS and the tech from the appliance repair company seemed to know exactly what the issue was. He fixed it and I haven't had any problem. I was very well satisfied with the company.

The ceiling fan in our bedroom quit working and the contractor that was sent out by American Home Shield came out. In about five minutes, the technician figured out it was the remote sensor. He took that out and put it back together, and it worked. They had to order the new remote for the receiver and they came back in a couple of weeks and put that in. It was perfect. They were quick, courteous and knew what they were doing. They were great and they were over in our house 10 minutes each time. The fan is better than before because we have a remote button for it now.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take

Everything was good with Prime Plumbing. They were on time and they were very professional when they came. I was doing some cleaning, and I wasn't paying attention and flushed a washcloth down the toilet. I had a bit of a backup. I also had a leak in the upstairs bathroom, so they came out and took care of those problems. Most importantly, I like the way that the guys that came out spoke to me about the problem first and explained to me about the process of what they were gonna do.
I recently purchased a home, so I was informed that I had a home warranty, and I printed out my contract. However, when I had the issue, I called a plumber. The guy asked me for my email, and then all of a sudden, he sent me a bill without even diagnosing a problem. I said, "You never even came here to see what the issue was. How could you send me a invoice?"
My older brother was like, "Listen, don't you have a home warranty situation going on?" I said yes, but I never sat down and read it. He was like, "Well, take a seat, put your glasses on and read it and see what it covers." After I did that, I gave American Home Shield a call and everything went from there. That was the first time that I ever used it, but I might use them again in a few days 'cause I need a rekey done at the property. I'll have them come out again.
Thanks for sharing your feedback.

The initial issue was that the AC wasn't keeping up with the demand and it wouldn't keep the house cool. So Myers came out and replaced the evaporator coil on my air conditioner. After that, it lasted about a week and then there was another issue that they didn't check everything that they were supposed to. I called them back and told them it was not working. They told me to call American Home Shield and request a recall on the original work order. After that, they came out and it ended up being a filter-dryer. There was something in the line of the Freon that was clogged. They replaced that free-of-charge. Since yesterday, everything has been working great.

At one point, I had to be on hold with AHS for 45 minutes and I couldn't get the answer that I want just to fix a simple air conditioning question. But the contractor who came out for the AC was pretty good. They got it repaired and so far, it hasn't gone down yet. Still, AHS has a bad service. They’re the most terrible company I ever dealt with and I don't know why I'm still with them. Their customer service reps don't know what they're doing.

It's fairly easy to submit a claim to Home Shield. However, it would be nice to have an option to actually talk to a live person once submitting a request or just being able to add some comments, especially when I called in. An automated system asks, “Is it electric or plumbing or something?” “Electric.” “Well, it’s not working.” “Okay, you got scheduled. Somebody will come out at some point.” But some things are more urgent than others, and it would be nice to be able to actually tell them that. But other than that, H & C Electric came out recently, resolved the issue and fixed the things that caused the problem. It was quite easy and we got things fixed quickly.
Thanks for your feedback. We love to hear when we have provided fast and provided fast and professional service. And we are always here if you need us.

Two guys from ADA came out for the microwave. They looked at it and diagnosed it. They said what part was gone and that they had to order the part. They said that it would take seven to 10 days, but it was less than that. The part came and the guy came to put it in. They all had masks on and kept their distance. This is the second time we've used American Home Shield. Every time we've called, they've responded. A couple of years ago, we had a problem with the garbage disposal and the guy fixed that.

I went from American Home Shield to another warranty company, and I was super dissatisfied with them. They didn't do anything on everything they said they would do. They came back and said that's not covered, which I thought was ridiculous and I had a two-year contract with them. They've been bugging me about renewing and I went back to American Home Shield. Recently, I had a claim on the air conditioning part of the system. The contractor came and the guys had their masks on. They were really professional and knew what they were doing. They found a glitch and fixed it right away.
