    My disposal was stuck and I tried calling American Home Shield but it was horrible. I was on hold for almost 10 minutes and then I called back again and waited. I did it one more time but the wait-time for someone to answer was ridiculous. So I went online and it was a better experience to book online than to call. But if someone was older, it would be very frustrating if they weren't real savvy with the internet. When the tech came, the disposal just needed an Allen wrench to turn something at the bottom. It was really easy. The tech did great. He was on time and very professional. He was a nice guy.

    My recent claim with AHS went well. The water was not coming out of the sink good, in my master bath. The cold handle froze up too. It wasn't something that could be fixed. The contractors tried, but they couldn’t get it freed up. So, they replaced that. Then, my shower, what's inside the wall that let out a certain amount of cold and hot was malfunctioning. They had to replace that too. The contractors were good. I just wish I could have gotten a little bit nicer stuff. I would like to see better quality with the replacements.

    The electrician came and nothing happened because he couldn't find the transformer box for my bell. So, I got no bell and I still had to pay the $75. So, I was annoyed. But that was the only incident and I like American Home Shield so far. The experience has been good other than this one.

    Astro Appliance is very professional and are knowledgeable. They came out the first time for the dishwasher and the tech took care of it. Then, on the first refrigerator, he said he needed a part and it was gonna take approximately three days to get it. He came back at a time he said, replaced the part, and it’s working wonderful. On the second refrigerator, it was the same thing. If I have to get someone to take care of my personal items, I will call Home Shield and I will recommend it to anyone. I am very pleased with their work and their professionalism. I will continue with them for years to come. Now, I’m buying another house and the first thing I would do is get Home Shield's service.

    The contractor came out and fixed the plumbing, the faucets that are outside and the dishwasher. Everything was professional and good. They were clean, had their mask on, and told me exactly what they were gonna do. Now, my plumbing is working, which is better than before 'cause it wasn't working at first. I was pleased with everything. People definitely need to get American Home Shield 'cause they'll come out and fix the problem as soon as possible with no problems at all. It's best to have it when you need it.

    Every time the washing machine would spin, it would get louder and louder. So, the bearing wore away. The contractor came out and tried to change the bearing but it was more than that. They had to change the whole drum. So, it took a little while for the parts to come in but they were excellent. They came in and did it all in one day. I'm satisfied.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for 7 years and a couple of things are not covered. I hate it when things that break down all the time are not covered. If my $3,000 refrigerator went, they would cover that but not the $150 ice machine. A couple of things happened with my garage door and I wasn't covered for, and it cost me more money than I wanted. Then just two weeks ago, my other garage door went and I had to fix it myself because it wouldn't have been covered. If it’s not the motor, you're out of luck. If the door’s off the track or you pop a wire or a spring breaks, that's not covered. And these are things that happen all the time. But it is what it is. I have an inground pool and they cover just about everything on that except electrical and anything underground. I like the pool coverage because that's another expensive item if it ever goes.

    AHS is a good deal. I got it because it had coverage on my air conditioner. If it goes, it’s gonna be $15,000 out of my pocket. So, I'm hoping they will step up to the plate when the time comes because it is getting old. I would recommend it. I had their competitor for a while and I didn’t like them. AHS is better than them. I figured it out now though, after all these years, that it's hard to get in touch with them during the day. It's impossible. You go on hold and it could be an hour or two. But when I call at 6:37 in the morning, I usually get through.

    Best Care Home Services did a great job. They actually read what I put in my trouble ticket request because they came to the front door with the equipment they needed to do the repair. They didn't have to go back to the truck. They walked in and was ready to do the repair. They were also wearing masks. They were done in probably 10 or 15 minutes. They also checked other parts of my house to make sure they hadn't created another problem somewhere else, and they were done. So, it was a really good job.

    We’ve had American Home Shield for 15 years and sometimes, I think I spend more money than it's worth. If we just put that money in the bank, we probably would have broken it even or we might have saved some money. But the reason I keep American Home Shield is that it's an easy network of repair people that I can usually have here in a short amount of time. I just go on the website and tell them my problem. And within 24 to 48 hours, somebody is here fixing it.

    The air condition was not working. The contractor came, found the problem quickly and fixed it. Since the repair, the AC is how it's supposed to be. Anytime I called American Home Shield, the contractor came on time and fixed the issue. So far, AHS have been good.

    Crown Home is excellent. They do a really good job. I've had them before. They came this time for a plumbing issue. It was a sink leakage underneath the sink, and the contractor was able to fix that. Now, I can run water and nothing leaks underneath. He was really nice. He did a quick job.     The transmitter that would start the machine died out. The tech from Metropolitan Heating & Air had to replace it. He had a mask on and he never came inside the house. He had that part already and the whole work only took 30 minutes to fix. The transmitter that died was supposed to last for three to five years. But we couldn't tell if it was gonna break or not. Then the tech said that the routine check was not covered under my warranty but if the transmitter would break, we could contest Home Shield up to 60 days.

    First of all, I had to set up to pay monthly out of my account. It did it one month, but it didn't do it the next month. It did it the following month again and then didn't do it this month. I don't know when the payment comes out and when it doesn't. I just got a bill for two months in the mail and I'm going to take care of that because the last thing I need is for that to lapse.

    This is the first time I've used AHS with this purchase of my house. Everything that I've experienced with it, so far, has been okay. The job eventually gets done, but there's some delay. That sucks, especially when your AC goes out in 100-plus-degree weather and you gotta wait for somebody to call you back. American Home Shield takes your money immediately, but then you're at the mercy of somebody calling you back saying, "This is who's gonna be calling you." Then you gotta wait for them to call you to set an appointment, so it could go days. The last few times, it's happened to me on a Saturday to where the contractor couldn't even come out and fix my unit till the next Thursday.

    There's definitely room to improve on the timing and closing the gap on when the claim gets processed. Also, there have been three or four times they've come out to my house for the AC and I paid $75 every time. They fixed something last time. What I worry about is if the units are 20-plus something years old and they continue to break down, I don't want that after this is all said and done, I gotta pay $15,000 to replace two units.

    I have a very old air conditioner and it wasn't very clean. I was concerned about the air circulation in my home with the fires so I needed it cleaned out. I went online and unfortunately, American Home Shield's online service doesn't allow for explanation of your request for service. It allows you to put in your request for service but they just assume that something's broken down and that's not the truth in every situation. When the guy arrived, he thought there was something wrong with my air conditioner. I said there was nothing wrong with it. It seemed to be working fine but I didn't think it was processing clean air into my home because it's so old and filthy.

    He got right to work and flushed it all out and told me about how you're supposed to do it from the inside out. Mine is not one where you can remove a lid. It doesn't have a filter. What you have to do is flush it from the inside to the top of it. He did a good job and cleaned it. You can tell from the outside of the air conditioner 'cause it's wire all the way around the outside. All that junk that was accumulated there is no longer there. Now, I feel more confident that I'm getting a cleaner process.

    Two of my friends have American Home Shield and they haven't had any issues. I went with AHS as well and the contractors have been very quick and efficient. For my last claim though, there was a lack of communication with the contractor that came out. My shower's tiling was not sealed where the shower is. So, water started dripping down to the second floor of my place and my ceiling got stained. There is now a crack going across where my stairs are. The contractor, 5 Star Quality, told me that they were gonna finish a write-up and send it to American Home Shield because there was some more work that needed to be done. Two weeks went by and I finally had to call AHS because nobody had contacted me. When I reached out to AHS, the reps said they didn't see any write-up. They contacted 5 Star who then said they will finish the report. I don't want any more permanent water damage to my place.

    I am in my second year of being a customer, in the last three months have been horrific. Today, I was placed on hold for what was supposed to be a call transfer for an hour and five minutes. I called back and was told the representative couldn’t help me and contradicted information the representative provided prior to the transfer. My refrigerator was not working for three weeks in July and is currently on week two of not working. No loss reimbursement, no sympathy for trying to live without a working refrigerator and zero customer service or proactive updates.

    When I called the first time today, I was informed parts are no longer available and they were transfer me to review the replacement process. One hour and five minutes later still no answer and remained on hold. My next call, the representative told me she didn’t see any notes to indicate the status of the part available or not available and that she would transfer me to the same department attempted earlier. After several minutes, disconnected. Fridge still non-working. No update. No replacement offer or information. No alternative option for communication other than calling and hoping I can understand the unsympathetic person who takes the call but cannot provide pertinent information. As a customer, and a seven star customer, I expect far better.

    My refrigerator stopped working completely. I went online and told American Home Shield about it. The website was easy to use, and I was told they would contact me. I was out of town and all these things were happening. My car died, my AC died, and my refrigerator died all in a couple of days. I wasn't home when the contractor came. My son said they were great.

    The contractor came out twice and they said that it was because of the type of refrigerator-freezer it was. They said that it would probably cost at least as much or more to repair it than it was to get a new one. They said they weren't sure how long it would take to get the parts for it, so I ended up getting a new one. I had to take out a loan to get the refrigerator because I have to pay for it first and then show that I bought it to get reimbursed. I'm not so happy with that one. I just had to shell out. I had to take out a loan before this to get a new AC unit, which was almost $9,000. Then my car cost 3,500 to fix. In the morning, the refrigerator went out. Then I got a call from my son in the afternoon saying our AC is out.

    Also, I was so disappointed with the plumbers that were sent out. They gave the wrong information and it took two months to get any follow-up. I’m not very happy overall because I had a leak that was outside the house near the foundation. They didn't even dig and they put four holes in my bathroom. They never sent anything in. Then they ended up telling me that I had a leak in the slab, which was untrue. It was an old irrigation system that was in here before I got here that was leaking. My son and I fixed it for $12. It took them two months. They wouldn't send any information so I could find out whether or not it was gonna be covered. My son and I finally just fixed it ourselves.

    I was having issues with my ceiling fan, house fan and exhaust fan. Professional Systems Design came and replaced them. I’ve been with American Home Shield since '91 and sometimes, the companies that come out are not that nice or reliable. Submitting a claim is easy but it’s hard to get a hold of AHS on the phone lately. You have to be on hold for a long time because of everything that has been going on. I try to just do it online when I need to submit a claim but they should have an app where we can download on our phone to do it instead of having to go through the website

    American Home Shield is affordable and it's almost all-inclusive. So it's a great deal and I recommend everyone to them. It's pretty easy to submit a claim online. But when there's a plumbing leak in the wall, the plumber has to open up the wall. But American Home Shield doesn't have in their program to repaint the wall or to match the texture. It's just a wall patch. So that, to me, is a problem because now I'm out of pocket on top of paying American Home Shield the assurance for having to get someone else out there to rematch the texture of the wall and paint it. But I'm sure that's something that AHS does to keep the insurance cheap.

    It was a very straightforward service with All Valley Appliances. The claim got done very quickly in 30 minutes. However, I had a four-month period where I was waiting on American Home Shield to fix my air conditioning in the middle of summer during a heat wave. The inside of my house was 105 degrees which was very unhealthy for my pets and my girlfriend. It was a very uncomfortable and disappointing situation. That left me with a bad taste. For two months straight, I was calling multiple times a week, sitting on hold for hours at a time. I had representatives tell me that they would be calling me back within the next 24 to 48 hours many times and there was only one call back. We could’ve solved it a lot quicker but it was a total nightmare. I tallied it up and I spent over 50 hours on hold. I know they're short-staffed because of the pandemic but it was impossible to get ahold of anyone.

    There were a lot of very nice people who seemed like they were gonna be helpful then nothing ever happened. I finally pushed my way to the right person who was able to fix things but I don't think that I should have to have done that and I certainly shouldn't have to spend that much time trying to get ahold of them. If I were running their business, I would be giving me a year free or a credit without me even asking for that. I've spent enough time on the phone with them, but I'm not going to pursue that. It just got resolved last week so I haven't had a chance to leave them 'cause my contract got renewed in July. I have the contract for another year but I would not renew come July.

    Air Command came to my home and the company is good. There was water leaking from our AC and he checked it and recommended some part needed to be added so that the water won't come through the secondary pan. He submitted a request to American Home Shield and when I contacted Air Command yesterday, they said it was rejected. Nobody contacted me though. I had the insurance earlier for two years as well and then I cancelled in the middle. I came back now, but I cancelled my contract again.

    My brother and sister said that once I get my house, I got to get American Home Shield. I wanted to do everything possible to make it easier on me, so I signed up with them. But if I'm paying the policy, then I should be able to have somebody come out within a 15-hour period. Living in Florida and my claim being about the AC, I didn't think I should have to go two days. At that time, it was very warm here, especially during the summer, and the fan of the AC unit was not working. When I submitted the claim, they said it was over the weekend so I had to wait until Monday. But they should have a source of companies, not just one, that can attend to that need. Aside from waiting for two days, the first repair didn't work correctly so, I had another three days for the same thing. But once the techs came out, they were learned on what they needed to do, so I was pleased.

    My claim with American Home Shield on an electrical issue went okay. A guy from Ace's Garage Door Repair came and made some adjustments. He said he thought it was just some adjustments, so he adjusted the knobs on the actual garage door opener, and it went up and down. It worked for a day and now, I'm having some of the same issues. The garage door doesn't go all the way down by itself. The guy replaced the button that was in the garage. He said something was wrong with that, too. When I hit the button for it to open, it opens. I hit the button for it to close and it won't close. It’d go halfway down, and then it’ll come back up.     The guy was good. We're in a condominium so it's a little tricky to get in and out. You really have to be guided and know where to go. He called me right away and said that he was outside. I then came down and kinda looked at his truck and told him what the clearance was on our gate. Then I led him down to a space he could park in and it worked out really good. He was helpful and got right to the problem and did his thing.

    There was water leaking from the unit in the inside of the house to the ceiling. He flushed the line and did some things that he needed to do which looked to be perfect. Then it leaked again and I called him back, and he responded very quickly. He was out in the morning then he came right back around 3:00. He had to kind of research it again and figure out what was really causing more of the problem. He went through it again and adjusted some pipes so they flowed better. He kinda tested it better to make sure and pretty much solved the problem after that. Since that day, it's been fine.

    I've had the coverage from American Home Shield for almost two years and though this is the only experience I've had with them, it was great. They were quick to respond and they seemed to be very efficient. The first thing I did was pick up the phone which was a mistake because that would have taken probably forever. They're too busy for that. I was on hold and on hold. My wife said to go online so I did.

    On the website, when you file a claim, there's a list of things you can check but there was no list that said what I needed so I just put "other" to try to get it going and that was all it took. They were set up completely to handle it. I expected a delay but it didn't have any. There was nothing that could have been really simpler for me. No one called me up to clarify. They just called somebody to come out. They initiated it right there. Within half an hour, they had somebody assigned then at least a couple hours, we had an appointment. That was really quick. I would encourage people to use the website. It seemed to work really good and that got the message to American Home Shield really fast.

    The first time I set the claim up, I put in a request and did it on the computer. As soon as the guy got here to check the disposal, it had stopped leaking. But he came right out. He was very good. I really appreciated his demeanor. He said since it wasn't leaking, there wasn't anything he could do. He said if it does it within 60 days, then I can call back at no extra cost which I appreciated. It had started leaking again so I called back and it went on and on and on with trying to do it on the phone. I don't think I'll ever call again. When I called this morning, I got so frustrated with how long it took to get through with the wait on the computer thing. It drives me nuts. As soon as I did finish that phone call, I did get a text saying that they were sending somebody out. Then I got an email that said because it was within the 60 days, there would be no extra fee so that's pretty good.

    This is the first time I've ever had to call and use American Home Shield. We got into it because our daughter recommended it, but she, over the last year, has had really bad interaction with the people they've sent out to fix things.     The air wasn't kicking on at all and the technician from Sirius Plumbing & Air Conditioning handled it efficiently. It was something simple but he caught something a little bit more pressing and concerning and addressed that as well. It was probably the biggest plus out of the whole situation. Submitting claims to American Home Shield is very simple but there should be more transparency about when the policy kicks in because there wasn't much around that. They should be more upfront and clearer. We bought our house on the 10th and we were told we have this warranty. We even submitted that claim for the AC unit but then, we had something else come up. I tried to create a claim and they said that I only get one claim until my policy goes active, which they quoted me, “it wouldn't go active until October 10th.” But in reality, it went active about a week ago.

    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for the microwave and then, I had an email within 24 hours. There were two contractors. The first one was great because before he would come in the house, he wanted to know if anybody had been sick. I had to wear a mask. There were some protocols that were followed. The second contractor was a lot more lenient about that. He did have a mask on but he didn't need me to confirm anything or say that we haven't been around. But he fixed the microwave. He had to take the whole thing apart. The first one had said that he could fix the door as well because the door was kind of hanging. He said that when he changes the fuse, he would do that. But the next guy who came didn’t have any idea what I was talking about and he didn't bring anything to do it. So that was the only thing that was disappointing. Still, AHS was great when I had a problem.

    The technician from ACT Appliances came out initially and then, we had to call him back. He ordered the extra part needed and the icemaker is working beautifully now.     The contractor, Donald, was inspecting our dishwasher, the range, the refrigerator and the washer. For some reason, they didn't inspect the exhaust hood. But the dishwasher, they claimed it as defective, so they're replacing that. The washing machine was leaking and he wasn't able to fix that, so they're replacing that. The refrigerator should be replaced just because I'm a registered dietician and there are rust and corrosion on the racks in the refrigerator. There is also a black mold around the same. One of the refrigerator door sealants has been damaged too.

    Originally, it was leaking, but the previous contractors hadn't cleaned the condensers. Then AHS closed out the case and they left a voicemail with me. I would then have to pay another $75 fee to then have this guy come out, Donald. He did a good job. He was excellent. He tried to fix things. He cleaned the condensers and I don't see a leak underneath it. He fixed my burners. When they installed, they had reversed the power burner versus a regular burner. He upped the burners.

    You can submit a claim online with AHS and you can also do it over the phone. I've done both. However, I'm located in a very remote area and we have COVID going on. So, getting service people out and I'm in the State of California, it's difficult. Based upon that, I also spend a lot of time on hold with the people in Manila trying to get services. Once I do, they'll open up a service account, I'll pay the $75. The thing is they have a hard time getting someone out to come out here and provide the service.

    But I've had someone, a manager from Phoenix, gave me an open service thing that I can find my own service people to come out, inspect stuff and do it. I haven't yet done that, 'cause Donald showed up and he came in and did the appliances. Now I'm waiting for a plumber and that's been over a month. I called yesterday. The plumber that has been assigned to my case, his voicemail's full. They've emailed him. What I'm gonna do is I usually give these guys about a week and if the serviceman doesn't contact me, then I call AHS, and we figure out another way to do it.

    The people in the Philippines have been very helpful, kind and extremely polite. They understand. If you get disconnected, they call you back. But you have to understand. I appreciate their due diligence in trying to make it right. They are working overseas. They've never been to the United States and they don't understand.

    If AHS would've given me a credit for a refrigerant, I'd be happier. But I'm not happy and I'm not happy that I didn't catch the voicemail that they left with me to say that the case was closed and I had seven days to petition it. My understanding is they did one appliance at a time and I kept on waiting for the next appliance to come along. Do I wanna spend another $75 to have someone come out and look at my refrigerator? No. Then I'm still waiting for the plumbing. I've got a garbage disposal and I've got a leaky sink and I've got faucets that don't work.

He looked at the dishwasher and put down what was wrong. They said that AHS would get back to me but they didn’t. So, I finally called the other day because I had been without a major appliance in the house all this time. I didn't get a call within that month. I don't understand because there was a guy here and he took down the color of the dishwasher and the dimensions. They called me twice and asked me for the same exact information. Then, I haven't heard anything. So, I called the other day. I'm highly disappointed.

    I was aggravated. Even if it’s so late, at least just them reaching out and saying what's going on would’ve been very thoughtful of them and considerate. I have a family where it’s six of us and not having a dishwasher has been horrible. They did not even explain what was going on. They said I was lost somewhere in the communication thing and they're sorry. I picked out a dishwasher and I'm still waiting. I don't know where I am. A few weeks before that, I had a plumbing thing outside and that was fast and awesome. I put in a claim on the website easily. They had somebody come out and it was fixed within a couple days. I was very happy with the whole experience but the second time around has been a waiting game. I would’ve liked as a customer to know the status. I understand there’s waiting some time.

    In general, American Home Shield has been good. I've had two different service requests where one of them was within the last three weeks, and the other one was a month before that. For the most recent one, it was when my dryer wasn't working. When I'd hit the button to start it, it would not spin. It sounded like it was going when I had my finger on the start button, but when I took my finger off, then it totally stopped. Even with my finger on it, it wasn't spinning.

    I submitted a claim online one time but I have a disabled daughter so it's easier for me on the phone. They have been always responding to my phone calls for placing orders over the phone.     I called American Home Shield and told them the plumbing issue. They charged me a service fee and then they sent someone out who misdiagnosed it. They thought that the problem didn't exist. They didn't fix anything. So I called American Home Shield back yesterday and another company is supposed to come out on Friday. I pulled out the ceiling in the kitchen and it's leaking from the pipe. So we're gonna move forward from there. Overall, American Home Shield is not very user-friendly. You get put in another country and you gotta deal with arguing back and forth for them to set things up and the service fee.

    Most of the time, I submit claims to AHS online and it has been very easy. When I call, sometimes there is a language barrier between me and the few of their reps. Still, I have a pretty good experience and we manage to get things resolved. Most of their techs are professional. I had a problem with one of their electrical contractors though but AHS doesn't use them anymore.

    Recently, Garage Door Experts came to my place and I paid them to replace my garage doors as they weren't covered under my warranty. They did a wonderful job at that. The tech had to order parts for the receiver in my two motors at the top and I'm still waiting for those to come. He said they would come in two weeks. I just referred a friend of mine to Home Shield. It's great to have. I've had good experiences with them. I never know when something will go wrong at home and so I won't cancel my service. It helps to only pay a hundred bucks to have somebody to come and look at my issue. If I have to pay the difference, I do that but it still beats having to go to an outside contractor.

    MCI was out here about a week or so ago in regards to a ceiling fan that we had that stopped working. That was the third time that they came out. The first couple of times that they came out, I didn't consider it as their fault that the problem wasn't presenting itself clearly for them. Their response and getting in touch with me to set up an appointment was timely. And whenever they set the appointment, they'd contact me ahead of time to let me know they were here and my expectations were met each time.

    When the first technician came out, he determined that it had to do with a screw and it was too tight. He loosened it and the fan seemed to work for a little while. Then we had put in a second request. When the technician came out, it was kinda working but it wasn't something that was keeping the fan from not rotating.     We put in the first request on the AHS website. After I submitted the claim, they would reach out to me within 24 hours or so and ask if we would available in any of their available days and times. So I'd worked it out with them. They contacted pretty quickly within that 24-hour window and they were professional on the phone. The contractor was professional each time he came out. He seemed to be thorough. He went through a few different troubleshooting things before he finally realized that it just was not working at all. Overall, American Home Shield is a great service that I've used many times and I've been satisfied every time.

    I had the same problem I had before when the repairman came out. He’s supposed to put a camera in there and he never did. Then he comes out with a ridiculous thing just to put the snake through 50 feet for $713. I told him to get off my property and not to come back again. The issue is not fixed. I'm gonna call American Home Shield because he said that they could’ve done it. They had an extra deal that they will come inside the house and do the plumbing including the toilet, but nobody ever told me that. I would’ve said okay. I'll pay $10 or whatever is extra.

    For two years, AHS has been taking money in my account and now, I got nothing out of it. AHS has got some plumbers that come up here that don't know anything. So, I'm not happy. It was a very bad experience. I'm probably canceling sometime today. I gotta see if I can find somebody else that will do what they're supposed to do and not keep things from a customer.

    I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim 'cause I didn't have my hot water in my bedroom in the shower. They told me that someone would be contacting me. They gave me the option of two contractors and I picked Waters Edge. I knew the other one so I wanted to get someone I didn't know. That was the first one they recommended also. The contractors texted me or emailed me when they were coming out and told me who it was that was coming and when they were coming.

    When the contractor came out, he discovered that I had some work done recently - a completely new shower package. When the installers did, there was something they neglected to do. The hot water wasn't going all the way over to turn on the hot water, it was stopping. There was a stop in there and he said that that happens a lot. The contractor did an excellent job.     It all started in January. I had a new furnace put in then I had a broken pipe under the house that apparently had been there for a while 'cause I was beginning to get some smell from the kitchen sink. I called the plumber and he checked it out. He didn't go under the house. He noticed from the side vent outside the house and said I had a broken pipe under there. They could not get in there and fix that pipe until I had restoration done. I asked what was that and he said someone else was supposed to come in, clean up all the debris that was in there and put something underneath to absorb moisture. I had to call someone else and apparently, this is not covered by American Home Shield so I had to go on my own to do this. They came in and cleaned out everything. To get underneath the house, you go in through a closet door and it's a small opening. But they got in. Once that was done, the plumber said to call him me back and he'd come repair the pipe. So, I did.

    Meanwhile, I fell and broke my hip and had to have surgery. I was in the hospitals and rehab. It was during the time it was beginning to get a little warm which I didn't notice I was not getting a lot of air in some of the bedrooms. I was busy tending to myself and doing physical therapy and the heat was something that wasn't on my mind. Finally, June or July, I noticed that there really was no air coming out of some of these four bedrooms, two baths, and my dining room. The vents were open but there was no air coming out of it. So, I contacted the warranty company. After many, many tries of two-hour waiting, I gave up for a while. But I pursued it and they sent someone out in August. I called them to tell them what the problem was. They said they'd have the company who put the furnace in January go and take a look at it. So, they did.

    They came and said the vents in these areas that I had get no air. They're broken or they're crushed because they're old and not have the metal ducting rather than the flexible kind. They also said they took pictures and they were gonna send it to the warranty company. Home Shield wrote back and said it's not a covered item because of misused treatment or abuse. Who's gonna get under there to abuse it? Certainly not us. I called them and said how could it be abuse or misuse of these ducts. They said, "It's not a covered item but you have an option for a second opinion." That was when Delta T came out. The guy was very good. He did not have to go under the house. He just stuck himself halfway down. He took pictures, came up and told me I have crushed ducts.

    Apparently, there's not too much room between the floor and the ducts for people to get under there to do their repairs that they had to do. He said the only way they could get across to these areas was go over these ducts . You could see where the ducts were all indented or crushed where they climbed over them. He said he'd send all the information back to the warranty company and they did. Again, they said it was not a covered item 'cause it was abused and misused. I've spoken most recently to two different people. Because one person said, "No, you don't wanna talk to just a supervisor. You need to go to escalation to a higher level," I said, "Okay. Refer me to them."

    In this letter that I got a denial, it was a different number so, I called that number. This is where I spoke to the first person, Drew, and he was from the Philippines. I said I wanted speak to someone higher. He said, "We do the escalation. We do the in-depth review. We're the ones that handle this." I told him the situation. I said it was not my fault. Someone that came to repair whatever it is under the house broke something. Why should I be responsible for this? He said he was gonna talk to the three vendors and would call me back the next day. I waited two days later but he never called.

    I called that same number again and spoke to someone else. Her name was Josephine and I told her the situation. She said, "Let me talk to someone else that's higher than me." She went and talked to them and came back. She said I needed to talk to someone and gave me the team that deals with the contractors. She also said they would review the telephone call that this other person made and she would get back to me. This was on a Friday. She said, "I'll be gone on the weekend, but I will call you Monday." I have not gotten a callback at all. I never spoke to someone above that, like the contractor relation who were supposed to do all this investigation. I got a letter again a week or so ago saying it's not a covered item. But I'm still waiting to hear what these people supposedly were to have done to have checked upon to see what in fact actually happened.

    I don't get a reply where they say they're gonna call me back. They don't call me back. I have to talk to someone else and give them all the whole story again. I don't know if they actually did talk to the contractors. I don't think it's up to me to talk to the contractors. At the very beginning, I did call the vendor after they told me that it was crushed and broken and he said, "We didn't go anywhere in those other areas. We just did the boot work." I don't know who did it and I doubt I'm gonna be able to find out who did it.

    We've been in this house for three years and I've had to call American Home Shield several times. They've always come through. They've sent me the vendors and I've gotten the work done. They also replaced the refrigerator that came with the house. It was a Viking Refrigerator. They sent out several repairmen to see what could be done. They needed to order parts but parts were not available anymore. So, I had to talk to someone else, not just a regular representative but someone else who was apparently higher up. I told them they couldn't repair it and I wanted a new refrigerator. They didn't replace it with a Viking 'cause they're too expensive but they replaced it with a French door Sears brand. So, I was satisfied with that. But it took me a little while to do it. They replaced my furnace too 'cause that was covered.

    Everything has worked fine, except for this time. This time, I'm not getting called back. They keep telling me it's mistreatment and misuse and abuse. If it was something that was up above the house or outside, I can understand how somebody could come and kick something and break it. But when it's underneath the house, the only people who get under the house are the repair people.

    It's also hard to get through to them. I was up one morning at 3:00. I couldn't sleep and thought of calling them. It was an hour and a half wait. If you call in late afternoon, late evening or early evening or Sunday, they don't give you the option to say, "If you want, we can call you back when someone gets free." They do that sometimes. That happens during the day. Sometimes I've had that come in but other times I haven't. At night, it didn't.

    One night, I called them and it was close to 5:00 my time. It was an hour and 40-minute wait. I cooked dinner while I was on hold. I cleaned the kitchen up. Finally, a recording came on and said they were disconnecting me 'cause they had been talking to other customers. That was after an hour and 40 minutes. I called two hours later, and it was an hour and a half but I held on. Finally, someone did pick up. The representatives that I've always spoken to have always been very helpful. They're nice. They always say, "Have a nice day and thank you for calling." But the wait time is a horrendous thing. It's too long.

    We call the main phone number for American Home Shield and explain to them what the problem is. They say they're gonna contact someone to get back to us with an appointment date. Maybe two or three days after the appointment, our deductible is deducted. I gave them a payment from my checking account. I made a claim for my oven and this is for the same repair and the same company I had in April. For whatever reason, our oven went out. The tech came right out and repaired it. He was fine.

    I had to pay again for the same problem that I had in April. The tech explained to me that the company had a 30-day warranty. American Home Shield explained to me that there was only a 60-day warranty. I asked if I could purchase a longer warranty and they told me they didn't have that available. I wish that the guarantee on the work lasted longer on certain work that’s done, especially if it's the same problem. But if that's American Home Shield's conditions with the contract, then there's nothing that I could do about that. Maybe something that they all could think about in the future. Otherwise, my experience was fine.

Home Shield didn't tell me that they could actually fix it. Also, they can pay the contractors to replace my unit instead of having me pay another guy. There was a lot of miscommunication. Eventually, the tech came, installed the replacement and did a decent job. He had to get a couple of subcontractors to do my electrical. I wish AHS would have told me right off the top that they had this option to use their contractor which would be a lot cheaper. Still, things went well.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is extremely easy. I do it online. It only takes a couple of minutes max from start to finish. The last claim that I had, I posted the request, and within 10 minutes, I had somebody from CTR Services contact me and said, “Hey, I'm in your area. I'll be right there.” It was extremely fast. It was 6 o'clock at night, it was late and it was all taken care of. I needed Freon, so they put Freon in my unit, sent me a bill, and I paid it the next day. So far, American Home Shield fixed everything that I've needed from a dishwasher to the AC and a couple of other things. I have recommended AHS to a friend who ended up buying it.

    I've never used American Home Shield until now. My disposal went bad, so they had a guy from Sigmond Plumbing come out. It took two days and I wish that it was a little bit quicker getting to my house. It was easy to request for service, but I wish the online would let you answer a bit more questions and in depth than what it is. There was one where I wanted to say it was leaking and it wasn't working. They're combined and I couldn't answer both of them. Maybe if I could have selected the leaking too, there would have been a lot more urgency to getting to my house, but I stuck a bowl under there, so it wasn't horrible. When my sister called for her company though, they were out the same day. I'm assuming it depends on who they call and if they're available though.

    I have two houses that I pay to support this insurance for over $1,200. The way to handle things varies and changes. Some companies are very good, some are not.     We had a plumbing issue. I submitted claim through the app. It was done in a couple of minutes. It was super easy. The contractor came out and got us all sorted out. He was very professional and he wore a mask and gloves. He didn't come with booties, which would be nice, but that would be above and beyond. But he took care of one of the problems with the water heater and he explained to me step-by-step what he was doing to relight the pilot, the things to look out for the next time it might go out.     Foster's Heating & Air solved our problem and they were awesome. The issue was the piping that was that carried the water. The guy already had the part but he had to get the replacement approved through Home Shield first. It took a couple of days but it wasn't a big deal. As soon as he got an approval, he came back and fixed it. And it works perfectly now. American Home Shield was great. At first, I thought we were gonna have trouble calling in the claim.     Chicago Skyline came out to take care of a clogged drain. I've dealt with them on several occasions and they're familiar with our property, so we don't have an issue. They also communicate well with our tenant. The issue more so is with the main company, which is American Home Shield. My feelings about the company as a whole is hit or miss. Submitting the claim is simple and straightforward, but the problem with American Home Shield is that you have to wait on the phone, sometimes for almost an hour, to get to a person. That can be quite annoying, and then sometimes, they send out vendors who aren't the most competent. I don't have a problem with the one that we currently have had, but we've had past experiences where some of the vendors aren't the best.

    To me, American Home Shield needs to provide much better customer service, from speaking with someone, and then they need to vet their vendors a little bit better. I've put my feedback on their Facebook page and just about everybody on their Facebook page says that the company is trash, so they need to do something about that. Nobody wants to go with a company now who can't provide what they say that they can provide and aren't there to help the customers. I would tell my friends and family to find another company to work with because American Home Shield does not have their stuff together yet. They have room for a lot of improvement. We've also been looking at Sears, the competitor, because they do a much better job.

    I've had American Home Shield for 35 years and I was really happy until last year when they changed some of their rules on fixing things. I got stuck with one of their regulations saying that their warranty was not gonna apply because what I had was out of code. Before, even if something was out of code or if I had something like my air conditioner put in 25 years ago, they would fix it anyway. Instead, we got stuck with a $5,000 air conditioning repair bill. I was a realtor and I always put Home Shield on all my homes. I would go to bat for them in a minute but this little change to their rules is making a big difference.

    For those who own an older home, everything is gonna be out of code when they break down. Still, I always say that other than the one incident I had with my AC, Home Shield has done a ton of work on both my houses. I am considering though whether I should just self-insure myself for future breakdowns especially with how high the cost of coverage has gotten.

    My dishwasher was not working at all and the technician that came out to service it was very friendly. He explained exactly what he was doing and what the issue was. He wore a mask and had gloves on. He was very cautious while he was in my home and I have nothing but positive feedback to provide concerning him and the service that he provided. In general though, American Home Shield is inconsistent. I had experiences like that where the technician was awesome and the company was great in terms of scheduling appointments and getting someone out to take care of the issue. A couple of weeks before that technician came out, I had someone else come because there was a leak from one of my bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink.

    The company that American Home Shield sent to me was not very responsive and they changed why there was a delay every time I talked with them. In the midst of a pandemic, I can't be without a sink to wash my hands. In talking with customer service within American Home Shield, I had someone assist me and schedule an appointment with a different service provider, but it was not until I said that I'm going to go ahead and cancel the service. When the new service provider came out, again, the technician was great. The problem is the people or the companies that American Home Shield contracts with and when there is an issue, they are not necessarily ready to address those issues. It shouldn't have taken a month for me to get that sink repair completed.

    One of the reasons that I keep American Home Shield is because this was not a brand new home. Had this been a brand new home, I would not have kept it past year three or four, because that's when I initially began to notice the shift. I get this more inconsistent service on the poor end more often than I receive the good service. I've also had issues where I've contacted American Home Shield, for example, with my heat and my AC.

    Every single year, I'm contacting them to say there's an issue with the heat as well as with the AC working properly. At some point, I finally got someone, and despite the service provider saying that it was time for a new furnace, they said that American Home Shield was more interested in making the repair than they were in replacing it. Every year, I'm paying the service fee to have someone come out and to fix the same issue. Because I'm not staying here and I don't plan to keep the house, I'm doing exactly what they've allowed, which is band-aid the issue. It's not cheap though.

    Our AC was leaking a lot of water and it was creating mud outside the home. The first time Airtronics came, they repaired something that had gone bad that we didn't realize. So they thought that would fix the issue but it kept dripping water. Then on the second time, they found water on the pan. They blew the air out and unclogged it. Then after that, my yard guy found that there was water dripping straight off the mud.

    So we called for the third time and the guy went in and said that he would plug the line which should work. If it didn't work, he said the he wouldn't be able to do anything. So I went back yesterday to the yard, I was still seeing mud and water back there. Whatever the guy did last time helped. But the problem, in essence, was never fixed. So we're thinking of calling a plumber and see what they will tell us about that. I wanna be careful 'cause I don't want somebody that tells me that I need something that I don't really need. This was my first time contacting American Home Shield. I tried to submit one before to rekey the house but I didn't know how it worked. But when the AC issue came, I contacted my Realtor who helped me pick American Home Shield. We did it on the app online. He also said that all I had to do was to pay that 75, and AHS would send somebody.

    I've had one claim and the contractor called me within a day. It was wonderful. He came out on time. He did the job that he was supposed to do. Everything was great except for they couldn't fix the dishwasher because it goes on and off. The guy tightened a bunch of stuff and it came on. Then we turned it off, and turned it on, and it came on. But after he left, it went off again. They're gonna replace my dishwasher now and I got a call last week from American Home Shield. It was an 800 number. I couldn't understand the lady that left the message. I don't have any idea who I'm supposed to call or what I'm supposed to do. I called the contractor and she said since American Home Shield is gonna replace the dishwasher, they aren't involved with that anymore. I called American Home Shield directly and they transferred me to another number which was fine. But after an hour and a half on hold, I hung up.

    Six weeks ago, I called in to get information on what AHS covered 'cause it's benign on the policy. I had to wait an hour and a half to get someone to pick up. I really wish they would have a callback system. But when I called in for the claims, it was awesome. Somehow, I was lucky enough to get patched through in 15 minutes. It was doable. I told them that I have banging in the walls when you turn on the hot water. I don't believe it's a leak 'cause there's no dark spots through the walls. I suggested to them that it might be a pressure valve. They took in all the information and they'd let me know. They said, "We don't cover for warranties if there's a noise in the wall," which I figured they wouldn't. You'd have to tear up all the walls to find it. So, that was fine.

    Then with my air conditioner, it sounded the motor was ready to go out. They thought it would be a good idea to get someone to come out and take a look at it. They said, "Look, it's not ready to go out." They're not gonna repair it, but at least we can note it. Did I like paying $75 for that? No. But I understand where they were coming from. They don't come out, they're not gonna note it.

    The representative that handled the call was outstanding. She was excellent. Couldn't ask for anyone better. The service people that came out, came from the same company about 20 minutes apart. The plumbing gentleman, I told him what the problem was and he asked me, "Someone flushes the toilet, does the water get really high?" I said, "No." He said, "It's most likely amount of pressure."

    He asked me if I ever flushed out the water heater and I said, "No. I've only been in the house five months. I've never done it. Can you show me how to do it?" He took the liberty to do it for me, to show me exactly how easy it is, which was pretty cool. The air conditioning gentleman came out, he was listening to the sound. He said, "Your motor is not gonna make it through the next summer. That's why it's laboring." It's still blowing out cold air. He explained how the warranty works. They don't replace the whole condenser, they just replace the motor. Whatever's broken is what they're gonna replace. He was fine. He did a test on it and realized that the capacitor was ready to go, so he replaced that. So far, so good.

    I gave Home Shield a call and they scheduled the contractor to come out. The contractor came out that same day and the breaker was fixed. It was very smooth and very well done. The contractor had boot covers and he had his mask on. It was just a breaker change, so nothing complicated. And the contractor knew what they were doing and it was an easy fix.

    When you call Home Shield, they want you to go online and all that, but sometimes you just need to talk to a representative. And sometimes it's difficult from the start or it takes a long time. I knew it was an electrical issue, but sometimes you don't know if it's an electrical issue or something else. So, I don't wanna schedule someone to come out to fix my fridge when it's an electrical issue. I wanted to talk to somebody there to let them know, "Okay, what if it's not a fridge issue, but an electrical issue? How does that go and all that?" But they wanted me to go online and just ask for a repair person, but I might not know how to diagnose. But in my recent case, I knew. Home Shield should let me talk to a representative which is easier than what currently is rather than just do everything online.

    We had a few issues with our appliances. Our dryer wasn’t spinning properly. The dryer drum had come off its track. CK Appliance came out and fixed a bearing on it to make it run properly. They got that working nicely. And then there was an issue with our washing machine. The valves for the water weren't working properly so it kept erroring out. It wasn't getting the right amount of water so it kept saying it wasn’t getting any water and it shut off. I specifically requested CK because they had already taken a preliminary look at the washing machine while they were fixing the dryer. They came out, replaced the valve on that, and got that working again.

    CK Appliance was fantastic, super-fast, and was on it. Right at the opening of every one of their windows, they told us they’d be out. They were also great about making sure they called ahead of time and let us know they were on the way. They were fully masked while they were here and they kept a social distance in the house as much as they possibly could. They were helpful too.

    American Home Shield has been good too. When I called them, they were great about making sure that I've got exactly what I wanted to come out and fix my unit. They were friendly and nice. We just moved into this house and as part of the closing for the house, the previous owner got and paid for this home warranty service.

    This is my second property with Home Shield. Recently, the downstairs AC unit stopped working. The issue ended up being it was low on refrigerant so it was freezing up the core. Atchley Air came in, diagnosed the unit and filled it full of refrigerant. They did great. I've had that issue before with a different house, and we'll see if it lasts. If it does, then it was successful. If it doesn't, we'll figure out what the issue is.

    I know their process is good. But one time, my garage door opener didn't work. The contractor went in there, and they realized the little knob thing was worn down. They replaced it immediately. But when it comes to AC units, at least in my Michigan house, I have spent hundreds of dollars to diagnose what the issue is because you gotta go through the steps. It would be nice to give them a bit more autonomy to know to stop putting money on the unit if it was not any good. Also, Home Shield could sweeten the referral pot. I've referred a few people, but you only get 25 bucks. I've been a big fan of them. In the first few years, it probably worked better in our favor. We haven't had any issues over the last couple years. So, it has probably worked better in their favor, but that's why we have it. They always fix whatever issue we have, so that is good.

    We called American Home Shield over the phone to have our central air conditioning unit serviced and then they called the place that was gonna service it here locally. The date and time was then verified and we paid 100 for the deductible on the service. The unit may need coolant and they had noted on the recording on Home Shield that there would be a little fee. The unit did need some coolant, so we had to pay an extra $35 and that was our total price. The air conditioning has worked good since then. We live in the desert, so we run our central air practically year-round.

    The turnover time to get a service person was very reasonable, so we liked that. We didn’t have to sit and swelter in the heat too long. It took a couple of days before the service person called and he was there within two more days. It was four days in total. He had to deal with some other stuff, but that wasn’t too bad. It was also over a weekend. The AC went out on a Thursday, and by Tuesday, the service person was here. Our interactions with him were very good as well.

    I had placed a call several weeks earlier and Crain's Air Conditioning came out and looked at our air conditioner. Then I had some additional problems so they came out and fixed one thing on it. Then it went down two days later. They came back out for a third call and traced down the issue and replaced the capacitor on it. They were very professional and they responded very promptly. Submitting those claims was fairly easy in the beginning. The biggest thing with COVID right now is actually talking to a live person. There's an extended wait time because they have fewer people in the office who's answering the phone. So other than the initial wait time to talk to someone, that's the most difficult thing about it.

    We've been with American Home Shield for about 9 to 10 years now and we've been very satisfied with their service for the most part. This year, they've replaced a pool pump, air conditioning three times, a microwave, and they were out today for some breakers in my electrical box. They've been a good problem solution, very positive, and have a quick response. The only thing that might be different is not having enough available authorized contractors locally. Sometimes that can lead to a wait time and that's probably the biggest thing. But other than that, they're usually pretty good.

    I have called this company on several occasion concerning a problem with my AC. They told me due to excessive use of my system they could not service my system. Well they knew that my home wasn’t a newly built home, so yes there will be problems that arise. Isn’t that the reason I purchase the home warranty. I have tried to reach management about my concern, but can only get as far as a person who only speaks broken dialect, and tells me that she will have someone call me.     My well pump stopped working on Saturday, which means no water in the house. I contacted AHS and requested service. A contractor was assigned, but did not contact me. I reached out to AHS and they told me a new contractor would be assigned and contact me on Sunday. Sunday came and went with no contact. On Monday morning I called again and a contractor was finally assigned and that morning went to my house. The technician identified the issue as a bad control board. He immediately submitted the authorization request to AHS. Hours later there was no word from AHS. I contacted them and they told me the contractor had not submitted the paper work. I asked them to call the contractor because I knew that wasn't true.

    After the person at the AHS call center talked to the contractor he admitted the paper work had been submitted and was being held up by the authorization team. This pattern of blaming the contractor and then later admitting AHS was holding up the process happened multiple times on Monday and Tuesday as I made calls requesting updates on when the authorization board would make a simple approval for a basic part. So now it is Tuesday night and I'm still without water. The fix is a basic one, but AHS is dragging their feet. I will looking for a new provider after this is over. Very bad service. My family is without water and they are taking their time. I strongly advise against using AHS.

    After years of paying premiums with no claims our washer gave out, so finally a chance to use our policy. Called AHS, told them the drum was spinning unevenly and smoking - clearly the drum needs replacing I say. 10 days later a repairman shows up, of course looks at the drum for 10 seconds and declares it needs to be replaced. Now AHS is supposedly looking for replacement parts (parts and labor clearly more than replacement cost of the machine) with no indication of when that search will end, the timing of replacement if they find the parts, or their intentions if they don’t find the parts. The ticket shows as ‘closed’ in my online account so the only source of info is me calling AHS every day, waiting on hold, and re-explaining all of this to a new operator. Short story, 3 weeks, no washer, no end in sight. AHS is a complete waste of money and time! DO NOT BUY!

    American Home Shield was the easiest to buy and it has been great thus far. We've had three claims and two have been with H&C Electric for pretty much the same electrical problem. Within 30 minutes of submitting a claim, the folks at H&C Electric are on the phone and scheduling a time. We have arc-fault interrupters in the house and they usually have issues. The breakers would flash a code that tells you when they're bad or what's wrong with them. H&C Electric came out and replaced the breakers post-haste. We have a dishwasher claim in process and that hasn't been as simple though.

    Our air conditioner was not working. It was running all the time but no cold air was coming out and the compressor wouldn't go off. My husband had to turn it off at the breaker. I called American Home Shield and paid the $75. This was on a Friday night and on Monday afternoon, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and their tech found that a fuse had blown. He changed some little bracket fuse. He also started checking the lines back and there was a kink in the line. The Freon had finally just busted through it. All the Freon was gone so he had to put 8 or 10 pounds of Freon in, plus replace that whole piece.

    American Home Shield pays for Freon but they never updated how much Freon has gone up over the last few years. I had to pay the tech $300. The Freon is $40 a pound and American Home Shield only pays 10. I like American Home Shield and I'm glad I have them. But they need to update their Freon because it is not $10 anymore. It hasn’t been for a number of years.

    Overall, my experience was poor because I was on hold before I got a representative. I understand being on hold for a while, but it was a hair over two hours and that was excessive. I also tried to use the online option and it would not accept the codes that they had given me. I had my numbers from my account. I had to call and when the lady came on, she said they must have inverted a number. She told me I could’ve gone online and I told her I tried but it kept saying I didn't have an account with American Home Shield. She looked at it and said it was a mistake on their end and that she would fix that. I hope it is fixed. If it's not, then the next time I'm gonna have to get on hold.

    I had no hot water and I put in the claim to American Home Shield on Friday. I was contacted by the service company on Sunday and they made an appointment for me between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. That was awesome seeing that I went a whole weekend without any showers, which wasn’t pleasant. The service guy called me up in the morning and said that he was 45 minutes away. He asked me what I was expecting and I said that this water heater is about 15 years old, so it might be replaced. He said he would check it out.

    The technician got here hours early. He and I went downstairs and he looked at it physically without touching anything. He said it was old but it looked like it was in good shape. So, that satisfied me. He said that he doubts if American Home Shield would replace it. I said that I just need hot water. He said he would have hot water for me within five minutes. He replaced the thermocouple and we have hot water, which was all I cared about. I thanked them and he left. He was a very nice young man. He did his corona protocol and came in with his mask and booties on, which was very professional to me. It was a very pleasant experience and my lady said that they should give him a raise.

    Myers Comfort came out and then came back and did the work they needed to do so the AC is doing fine right now. Initially, when the tech came out, he put some Freon in it, and it didn't work because he said the evaporator coil was leaking. He had to come back and change out the evaporator coil. Once he did that, it’s been fine ever since.

    I've used other people before I got this warranty with American Home Shield. I’ve used Hanson Heat and Air for my business. They were good, but I've had someone that was better. I wish Myers Comfort had diagnosed the problem initially. They initially said it was what it was, and they should've checked the evaporator coil initially. I called them right back and told them it wasn’t cooling. If they had gone and checked it then, I wouldn’t have had to wait three weeks in order to get some air. It was really hot at that time. Other than that, they coulda just told me right then what was actually wrong with it. He could have seen the leak right there if he went up the attic and checked it.

    As far as American Home Shield, so far, so good. The only thing is some of the stipulations. I didn’t realize that I had to pay for the coil when they replaced it. I didn’t realize that was part of my contract. I thought they could use the same thing I had upstairs, but after seeing them take that one out and put a new one in, I was pretty sure that they needed to change the whole thing out. I just thought that was all a part of my contract, but it wasn't.

    I'm waiting for American Home Shield to take care of a service that I put in there. The company that came out to service recommended that I get my washer replaced and I have not been able to reach American Home Shield or even contact them. It's been over three weeks now and I'm without a washing machine. I've been using outside facility to wash my clothes.

    I haven't had any issue until this time. It doesn't seem like there's any kind of urgency put into this. I bought this washing machine 15 years ago. They cannot get a replacement for the door and for the inner part of the machine which is plastic. They're making a recommendation that it’d be replaced. I would expect that there shouldn't be another process for American Home Shield to go in and ask their people, “Hey, go see if you can find this part.” I told the lady, “You can find the part at Amazon but it has to be a suitable part that's gonna be able to make my washing machine work.”

    I don't understand why they haven't called me back and why they're having issue with their service. When I'm trying to get status or speak to someone, it leaves me there for 15 minutes then suddenly I lose the call. It's at their end, not my end. I'm not getting through them right now. I've put several calls in because I actually got a contract renewal. But I'm really hesitant about renewing my contract because I'm not too happy with the service I'm receiving. I expect them to replace this because this is still under the old contract. If I'm having personal issues with them and they're not reliable, I wouldn’t wanna recommend it to a friend or to relative. I expect for them to react and take care of the issue, not make me wait three weeks and I'm spending money elsewhere because I can't get a washer. That's why you're protected. That's why you have an insurance.

    The AC claim went fine. The person came out in a timely fashion. He is supposed to call back to do a follow-up but I haven't gotten that yet. He said they usually do it within two to three weeks just to make sure that the AC is still functioning properly. However, for the refrigerator claim, it has been a very unpleasant experience from day one. American Home Shield told me that contract relations was gonna call me. Amtec Services was originally called for the service on July 1st and they came out to fix the refrigerator. They came out again on July 21st for the same issue. When the refrigerator was still not fixed, they had to come again on July 25th. From July 25th, the refrigerator worked for probably about two or three more times then they were called out again for the same issue on August the 9th. They were supposed to be ordering another part from August the 9th.

    From this time, I've called American Home Shield approximately eight times and I've also called Amtec seven times. When I called them, they told me that they never heard anything from American Home Shield of them asking for a follow-up regarding the part. I called in to get a follow-up regarding the part and they would always tell me that somebody was gonna call me back but nobody ever called me back. There's some type of miscommunication there.

    When I call American Home Shield, they say, "We just need an update for them to put into the system. If they can't order the part, then we will." I tell them this has been going on now approximately six weeks at this point. They tell me it's due to parts not being available. I told them it's not a part issue. I can understand there's a pandemic and they can't get the part. But this is a miscommunication issue where Amtec is not taking the responsibility of responding back in a timely fashion for us to understand what's the next step for the refrigerator to be fixed.

    Meanwhile, I've already paid for the service. I've been paying my monthly fee and everything's on time but I'm doing most of the communication. I've been asking for American Home Shield to call me back and give me updates but I've gotten none of that. I've asked for Amtec to call me and give me an update regarding what's gonna happen next but I've gotten none of that too.

    I spoke to another gentleman today regarding the whole situation. He said he spoke to Amtec and they said that the part should be in probably sometime this week. I've told him that my food has gone bad and I've wasted almost $200 in food. The refrigerator obviously is inoperable and this is going on almost like a three-month process. They either just forgot to order it or it just was not a priority. When I asked the lady from Amtec if they are short in staff, she told me no. They're not short on staff. They don't have any issues with their production or people coming out and doing the service.

    I really don't know what the issue is. However, I, the customer, am not feeling like this is really working. I asked them if they could just replace the refrigerator but American Home Shield has just been running circles around me when I bring up that. I told them why don't they just get another company to come out. They didn't wanna do that either. They didn't wanna bring out another company to come and check it out 'cause then they won't have to charge me another $100. But how can they charge me $100 for a service that still hasn't been completed and it's not been provided?

    They're not asking to give me like a comparable pricing. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they don't have a supervisor. They just have an escalation team but they won't give me the number for the escalation team. I had to buy a small refrigerator in order for me and my family to eat out of that, which obviously, you can't hold much stuff in it 'cause it's like one of those little college refrigerators, until they get this whole situation done. But again, still, here I am, now on the 20th of September, and my refrigerator is still not fixed.

    Amtec is blaming American Home Shield, American Home Shield is blaming Amtec, then Amtec says that it's their parts department. Then the parts department now is saying they do have the part so I told them to come and fix it. American Home Shield called them today and they said they told them the part should be there tomorrow. In the middle of the conversation, the rep said, "Oh, they just updated again. It won't be there until Thursday." This has been constant. No major follow-up has been happening. It's been me reaching out to try to get assistance.

    I also had a plumbing claim and that's another issue. I'm a female and I don't know what part is what. I told the rep that I was having a plumbing issue and American Home Shield said I needed to be more explicit on the type of plumbing issue. I told them I didn't really know how to explain it. Another thing is I just moved into this house. I won't really know what I have and what I don't have until I'm utilizing some of the stuff that's in here. I said, "I think there's something wrong with the pipes." They said they'd put it in as the water heater.

    The guy came out and I was telling him the pressure wasn't coming out properly from some of the pipes. He went and looked at the water heater and I said it was not getting hot enough. He went to the water heater and turned it up. That was supposed to make it warmer. Then he said it was not a water heater problem. He went back to American Home Shield and wrote in the report that they fixed the water heater by turning up the temperature. He went in there and turned a knob twice, literally two notches. American Home Shield stated it was the water heater. I said, "No. I said I had a plumbing issue. You told me I needed to specify what type of plumbing issue. I'm not a plumber, so I don't know how to specify."

    When they put the order in, American Home Shield said, "No. To fix those parts to the sink is gonna be another order. You have to pay another $100." I paid $100 for him to turn my temperature up? That's crazy. They said that was the only thing that they could do at that point. Needless to say, I'm not paying another $100 for them to fix the sink so the sink still doesn't work because it doesn't have any pressure. I'm out of money and I still have items that are still not fixed.

    We have two air conditioning units and one of them wasn't giving us cold air. Between the request time and the time that somebody was available was a week so that was kinda long. But it was during a hot period so I imagine they were busy. When Super Air did come out, they were very pleasant. I showed them what needed to be done and the guy said there was a compressor that needed replacing so he did so. He checked to make sure that we had cold air out of the register before he left.

    We've lived in this house since the end of 2009. The realtor gave us a year's service as part of the startup for having a new home. We let it lapse once then we decided this is an old enough house that having the service was beneficial so we reapplied. Over the 11 years, we've had 10 years of service with American Home Shield. It's gotten easier over time in being much more automated. Everything pretty much is online. I just have to sometimes look up the information about the appliance like the make and the brand. But other than having to check on that kind of thing, it's reasonably easy to request service.

    For the most part, American Home Shield is pretty responsive in getting us a service provider that lives in the area. There was just one time when it wasn't automatic and I had to kinda check back because we hadn't heard. But for the most part, it's been pretty simple and efficient. The people providing this service, it might vary with company but they have been polite and responsive and usually the problem is resolved.

    Home warranties are problematic in nature. I've had many claims with American Home Shield done so far and overall, they've been fine. The claim submission is great and easy to do. But they should expand coverages. The rekeying done by Pop-A-Lock was very good. It took them less than half a business day to schedule. The service was timely, professional, and efficient. They were here for maybe 20 minutes. I felt very good about the precautions they took.

    Many years ago, I was a Realtor and I started giving a one-year funded American Home Shield warranty to all my buyers as a closing gift for two reasons. It gave them peace of mind and if something didn't work in their new house, I wasn't the guy getting the complaint. They'd just call American Home Shield and have it taken care of. So when I bought my house 34 years ago, I signed up with American Home Shield almost immediately. And they have been wonderful. They're efficient, helpful and available.

    It's very easy to submit the claim with American Home Shield online. The last time I spoke with customer service was for the service on our furnace and it was difficult because the person at American Home Shield spoke very broken English. I could hardly understand. But the tech from GW Jones Heating & Cooling was marvelous. They replaced the coil of the air conditioner and some steel ductwork, and they were wonderful. The unit has been fine since. It'll help with the heat ‘cause the old one was pretty shoddy.

    When my air conditioning was not working, I submitted the claim and they gave me a provider. But when I called those people, they told me that they didn't accept AHS claims anymore. Apparently, they're assigned by computer and nobody called them until they got a message. So that wasn’t too good. So I called AHS back and they gave me another provider, which was LynnCo. Then LynnCo called me and said it would be five days for someone to come out.

    On the fifth day, the guy was supposed to come between 3:00 and 4:00. I called at 4:00 and the guy said we'd have to wait so many hours before we call them. So I waited. The guy showed up on 5:30 and he did a great job. He had the part but it wouldn’t fit. So he came back the next day and fixed it. LynnCo did a great job. But I was without any air conditioning for two weeks and that’s a little long time considering it was 90 something degrees every day. The part where it was connected with LynnCo, I would recommend it to anybody. Everything went real smooth. I was satisfied.

    The motor would run but no air would come in so the gentleman came. He couldn't see anything but he said it was a little low on freon and put a pound of it. Within seven days, it was having the same kind of difficulty so American Home Shield sent another contractor. They did not charge for that one 'cause it was so soon. That gentleman put a capacitor on that air conditioner. He said if that didn't work, then probably it would need a compressor. The air conditioner's 14 years old but it's working right now so there's nothing we're complaining about.

    We've been here nine years and we've had American Home Shield at least five years. I seriously would like to stop American Home Shield because I do not think that if and when the air conditioner will need to be replaced, that they really do anything about the replacement. I do get it for all my appliances but I can't get anyone to answer. American Home Shield is the worse place to get an answer to. But as far as the servicemen that have come, they have done a good job. They've been very polite. They've done the best they could with what they had.

    There was a point when I thought I could get a better monthly rate and I went to a different company. I ended up firing them after the first service call and going back to American Home Shield. Sometimes, it's better to pay a little bit more per month on the premium to get what you need when you need it. When my garage door opener was not working and the garage door was not closing, I did my claim. I was given a four-hour window time frame, but I had to reschedule the company twice to get out here because of my work schedule.     The guy from Alejo Electric came and he looked at the issue. He said such a problem happens if the light is turned off. In our area during this COVID-19 and the fire in the state, there was a time when power was cut out. I don't know if that's when the issue happened, because my air conditioning system was working before. He couldn't turn it on. He told me that he's gonna report what he has done and that American Home Shield would get back to me. He took some pictures. Then I didn't hear from American Home Shield. I called them to follow up. They said that somebody would be sent to take care of the issue. Then recently, I saw an email from them saying that there were limitations approving the air conditioning at my place and they gave a number to call.

    I'm still waiting to hear from American Home Shield. They haven't told me what they plan to do. When I call them on the phone, I'm on the line for a long time. I thought that if I have Home Shield, this is supposed to be something helpful, that when I have a problem in my home, they're able to help and support me. But it seems that they're not doing what they're supposed to do. I'm really saddened. Here in Pittsburgh, it gets pretty warm but thank God it’s getting a little bit cooler. I have elderly parents in the house and if the air conditioning is not working, it's not helpful. Now when I need them, I'm not getting the services they promised. I am very dissatisfied and frustrated at the moment. They dispatched someone to check and then the person came and they are not following through. This is not something I could recommend to a friend with this kind of service. I'm planning to call them. I hope they do what they're supposed to do.

    Whenever I have an issue, I call American Home Shield. They dispatched Grade A Plumbing when there was a pipe dripping in my unit. The person living under my unit noticed it. The plumbing company called me. I don't live in the unit but I had someone there. They were fine with Grade A Plumbing. They corrected the problem and the issue was fixed because I haven't heard from the owner of the other unit. So far, I have not had any issues with American Home Shield although I an issue with their one of their contractors. This was for another issue though. But that eventually got resolved.

    The first time I had a claim with AHS, the contractor said they would have to take out the tub and everything else and it wasn’t something that AHS would cover. It wasn't normal wear and tear. They charged $100 and told me they couldn’t do anything. The hardest part was nobody would talk to me. I would call and ask what the problem was and they said they would find out and get back to me. I had to keep calling and calling. It was one of those things where if you're waiting for an agent, you wait for an hour and 55 minutes. They didn't give the option of calling back or anything like that. It was ridiculous. I read a lot on the company and they had really bad reviews online. They do this a lot. They go out and say there’s nothing they can do. Then, they charge the 100 bucks. I told AHS I don't wanna deal with that company anymore and they said they will put that on notation.

    Then, my washer wasn’t draining properly and it was backing up. The tech from Wicker Installation came out and he snaked it out but it didn't quite take. He came back out and did it again. The second time he did it, it was draining a little bit better, but he said the biggest problem is the fact that the pipe in there is too small. It's a one-inch pipe and it needs to be two inches. The guys at Wicker were really good.

I'm not sure exactly what was the cause of the jam, but he got it fixed and I hadn’t had a problem since. The contractor did a real good job. I haven’t had any problems with submitting a claim with AHS. They’re pretty fast about getting somebody out here to get it taken care of. I hadn't had anything but a great experience with American Home Shield so far. Having a warranty saves me a ton of money. Just this year alone, I bought a new house and I've had four items jack up on me and they were out here to get them taken care of.

    There was a little finishing nail that got bent sideways and was lodging against the wall of the garbage disposal so it wouldn't spin. The guy from Carl’s Plumbing found it in a few minutes and got it cleared. Everything is fine now. I was standing there right with him when he was working on it. He pulled it out and showed it to me. I had my hand in there, looking for it myself but I couldn't find it. He was observing protocol. I submitted the claim online and paid my deductible. The vendor did what they were supposed to do.     The people from J&J Mechanical that came out were really professional and really nice about everything and honest about what needed to be replaced. It was the dishwasher and the washing machine that needed to be replaced. They sent everything in to American Home Shield, and I never heard from American Home Shield again. I called and called. I was on wait for one hour, sometimes I was on the phone for three hours. They never called. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the lady said that the supervisor was busy. She just kept saying that the supervisor was on another call. Then, she would give me a number where the washing machine and dishwasher needed to be replaced. So she will click over and get me to another department, and I was on the phone with them for two or three hours. I have never reached the people to replace my appliances.

    I got back with American Home Shield again. This was the fourth week and I've called like four times a week, and I got back with them again. The rep said that they sent it to me in an email. I never got the email. Now, I did get the email about how the company treated me, and I did send that in. But I never got an email with American Home Shield. I've been with them since 2003. Before that at another house, I was with them since 1998. I've never been treated like this before. They said they was short of help.

    When I kept calling, I think I was getting on their nerve, but I just wanted the washing machine replaced. I wanted the dishwasher fixed even if people from J&J Mechanical were really nice, the lady called back and said, "This is not like American Home Shield. We sent them something, they never responded back, got back with them." Then, somebody from American Home Shield did call and said there's some type of protocol where they send it to your email for the washing machine and dishwasher to be replaced. They said he was sending it right then. That was twice. I talked to a female first, and then I talked to like a supervisor.

    Nothing was ever sent to my email about how to go buy your own washing machine or dishwasher or picking out one that they provided. I went through messenger, gave them my contract number, my address, and I just told them that I wanted to cancel. They said, "Well, don't cancel. We're really doing good." I said, "Well, you guys sending out all these commercials, but not living up to your part of your contract."

    A lady named Amy called me yesterday from American Home Shield. She told me to fax her my receipt for my washing machine that I just got a couple of weeks ago, and she will refund my money. Then she said, "Well, I'm gonna send you a email for the dishwasher." I said, "You could send me a check for that too." She said it was gonna be $300-something, and she was apologizing. I told her, "Well, it's not your fault. It's the company in its whole." I will have to fax them the receipt with my contract number and everything on it. Amy said, after that in four or five days, I'll have a check in the mail.

    American Home Shield's customer service was horrible. I'm not prejudiced towards anything, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. Then you could hear them in the background laughing when I said, "Well, give me a supervisor." Then the rep will make her accent more pronounced. So, I really couldn't understand what she was saying. And they will be laughing in the background. I don't understand how they still are in business. My mother is with them, and I have about 20 friends that are with them. My mother says she's never had an issue.

    My recent claim with American Home Shield was the air conditioner. It wasn't working correctly. The customer service people are in the Philippines and we're here in the States. So they would contract somebody and neither one of them coordinated with me to see if I was home during that time. I didn't have a way of getting in contact with the person that was contracted. They would come to the house and I wouldn't be home.

    When I called American Home Shield, they didn't know. They sent me around the block, were trying to get me rescheduled, where they should have asked me what was convenient for me. ‘Cause people work and they just didn't care that it was August in Louisiana with no AC. The rep would schedule me from 9:00 to 1:00. Then when I called them at 2:45, they acted like, “Just keep being patient, they're on the way.” I was like, “Can you call to see?” The rep said, “No, ‘cause they should be on their way.” I said, “No. I've been waiting from 9:00 to 1:00, which was the slated time. It’s 2:45. You call them.” I missed a whole day of work. The contractors ended up coming out two days later. But that put me a whole week at my house in August with no air conditioner. The guy ended up being able to repair it and it’s been working well.

    Service Contractors came out and replaced a part on one of my outside AC units. Then I had another AC claim. I thought I have a leak in one of my AC units because the drip pan was filling up way too fast. Also, it looked like it could've been dripping from the unit and not from the overflow or anything like that. I asked Home Shield to send the same guy and the same company back out because of my good experience with their tech in the past. He came out and found out that I had a blockage further down the line. Both units that I have were filling into the one drain pan causing the overflow. He went upstairs to one of the bathrooms where the unit drains into to help unclog it. He blew and cleaned the lines out and everything started flowing like it should. He was a nice guy.

    With another warranty company I had at another house, whenever there was a claim, they would have some ridiculous excuse to not pay the claim and leave me hanging with bills alluded to be covered. And when a compressor failed, they didn't wanna replace it. American Home Shield has never left me hanging to that extent. They've been pretty good at covering stuff.

    The AC unit that is in this particular house is in the crawlspace. It was getting to be winter, so I went under the house and checked things out. There was water on the ground underneath the unit. I thought that it was just condensate but there was quite a bit of water. So it would be better to have it checked because if something was wrong or the condensate pump wasn't working, that could cause a big problem. It would freeze in the winter. American Home Shield set an. appointment up with a company to come out.

    I went through what it was and they looked it through. And since they were there, I asked them to open things up and make sure all the electrical connections were good and they did that. Then the thing that came over on the internet stated to check for this thing for the outside unit to see if there were any strange noises and stuff. So he was walking away to go leave and then I asked him to listen to the unit since he might be able to detect something that I wouldn't associate as wrong. So he looked at that too. They did a very good job. During the conversation, he mentioned that he was working for the company for two years and he really liked them. He checked the wiring and all different things like that. So now I feel confident. I shouldn't have to worry about that for three years or maybe longer.

    People don't do preventive maintenance. There's a wide variety of things that can go wrong and things can strike and go down and all that. Somebody there at American Home Shield has to recognize the importance of preventive maintenance and work it into their system. AHS works with a company that deals with air conditioners. AHS should work a deal with that company to have a preventive maintenance program for the AHS clients. By having a preventive maintenance person coming, the equipment doesn't break down as much. So AHS could save in the future.

    Ever since we did Home Shield, I noticed that the communication part on the internet needs to be updated. AHS is dealing with people that are older. I use the website to do a preventive maintenance thing or to do such things. The way things are set up on their website is very confusing and not very straightforward. You have to sit there and figure out what they are trying to say there. I tried to put in the right information but I was never sure. The website needs to be redone.

    I put up an AC claim to American Home Shield. I still have an issue with my AC, but I don't know if they cover that or it’s not under coverage since it's not broken yet. I have the AC on the attic. I have two units since I have a two story house. There’s a tray that goes with my AC. It seems like, sometimes, there's water in there. There’s a tray where that water is stored, and it is all rusted and about to get broken because of all the rusting all around. I don’t know if AHS can replace that before I get a huge lake in the attic and make a big mess around my house or I’m supposed to wait until the actual tray has a hole on it.

    Also, I don't know if the technician that AHS sent looked into it. But he told me that he got in the attic. I had an issue as well with the air not coming in my master room. The tech came down, and he checked that out, and he told me that it was perfectly fine because my room usually is warmer because the sun is hitting it all day, and we live in the desert. So, by nature, my room is gonna be warmer. So far, I'm pretty happy with American Home Shield. The technician from the AC that came in was super polite. To me, he was really good. Yesterday, the other one came in because I have an issue with my range. He ordered the parts and left. Once the parts get here, he's gonna come back and fix everything.

    We had a broken disposal and there was some leakage underneath the sink. Advanced Plumbing sent out someone to repair. His name is Julian and he did the repair, but it was incomplete because there was a broken part on top, which I followed up with Advanced Plumbing. They said they were gonna call back, but they never did.

    I contacted American Home Shield right away and let them know that the job was incomplete. They told me that they're waiting for Advanced Plumbing to send them some kind of paperwork. I contacted Advanced Plumbing. That went on back and forth for a few days and it didn't get me anywhere. So I kind of now have given up. I don't mind if another vendor is assigned or maybe I can find my own vendor and submit the bill. They just need to let me know.

    American Home Shield's phone number is really hard to call. It's almost an hour to hour and a half wait. This is my first year with them and my first time to do a claim. It was taking me so much energy to a point I gave up. I have not tried contacting them online. But online, you just schedule like a repair. Their call back feature even takes longer. I've tried that. On the wait, they'll give you that option and they don't call you back. So that was why I called back myself and I do something else while the hour goes by.

    I had a leak on the pool where the pump wasn't priming the right way and there was no suction. So, the contractor, JnJ Pools, took some part and they fixed it. I’ve had American Home Shield for over ten years and the claim was good. I had another one on my AC and that one turned into a whole nightmare. AHS wanted to cover just the part but not the changes that they had to do and not the Freon as well. So, in order for the issue to be fixed, I had to come up with $800 out of pocket, which was totally outrageous. I ended up opting for the buyout, which was not what I wanna do. I have a home warranty because I wanna make sure that I don't have to bother with me trying to find someone else to fix it. I ended up paying less than the $800 American Home Shield wanted. So, that was unacceptable.

    I'm trying to look around and see what other companies don't have as much red tape as American Home Shield because I was covered for that repair on the AC. We're in Vegas, so an AC is an everyday thing and the main reason why everybody takes a home warranty is because of the AC unit. I’m paying $60 every month for 10 years and I never have any issues other than the pool the other day. Just to find out that in order to be covered, I might as well just be saving my money and have the money ready when the problem exists. So, I'm feeling very strong about persuading people about having the home warranty. AHS has to be a little bit more transparent and don't have so much hidden charges such that it is covered but there has to be a little change. And for that, you have to pay. It's totally not worth it.

    My AC stopped working. We requested to Home Shield, and then Wolfpack Mechanical came and then the tech checked that the condensing unit was leaking so it was not working. That's why it had to be replaced. Then, they put the request. We followed up but we didn't get any timelines, and they told us, “As soon as we receive the new unit, we will install it.” And then as soon as he received it, he installed the next day. The unit is functioning quite good. But from the last two days, we have been having some concern. There is some leakage in the inside unit. The water is dropping. So, we need to contact back. Other than that, we were satisfied with the response. I have heard from other people still facing the same situation in the hot weather that it takes almost two to three weeks, and they send someone to look on and then it takes months. But luckily, we got our issue fixed within three weeks.

    I'm not super savvy about everything it takes to keep a home in order and operational so I got American Home Shield's warranty. When I need to call them, the experience is very rewarding. The vendors that they use in my area are concerned about the fact that I get good coverage regardless of how they're paid. At the end of every visit, at least where it was something they could provide service with, they take the time to explain what the problem was, what they fixed, and remind me that the call is under a 30-day warranty. If the problem persisted, they tell me to be sure to go back in and request that help.

    I called when I had some water in my basement. I thought a pipe was broken. A plumbing service came out and the guy said he would test a couple of things. He didn't think the issue had anything to do with our bibb hose. Once he determined it wasn't plumbing, he was kind enough to point out where my problem could be coming from so I’d know what to do next. He put me on the path to the next solution, which I thought was really great. Then, I had something with my HVAC system. The young man that came out introduced himself and was very polite. He diagnosed the problem, let me know what it was, and went on to fix the solution.

    I also had a plumbing issue that Professional Plumbing Services came out for. They were really good about letting me know when they were coming and they were on time. Also, they took the time to explain what they thought the problem was and took the time to see if they could make the problem repeat before they left, after they thought they had the solution. The second time they came, the tech used a larger tool to clear it and get it to drain. So far, it seems like we're all right.

    I have two air conditioning units. The one on the lower floor happened to not cool down at all. It was pretty much spitting out hot air but not cold. The first time that the AC person came out there, he knew the main cause. The line itself was frozen in the outdoor unit so he did have to come back at a different day as the lines defrosted. Because it was a Saturday when he came out, he couldn't come out until Monday. When he came back, he thought it was simply a minor leak. He ended up discovering that it was a component that was malfunctioning. He replaced it and everything was fine. Overall, he was very punctual and very pleasant. The only thing is I kinda hoped the American Home Shield website said, “Hey, you're submitting an air conditioning claim, go ahead and turn it off to prevent a duplication of a person coming out.”

    Filing a claim is pretty quick. The only thing that I wish would be a little bit more proactive is for example with our pool pump. It's about to break. It's making loud noises and you can kinda hear the metal rubbing against another piece of metal. But because it's still working, they really can't do anything about it. It's more of, “Well, we don't cover the loudness, we cover if there's a malfunction of it." But I kind of expected that with any type of insurance company. Overall, we've been pleased with American Home Shield. The main reason we decided to keep it for so long is that it's an older house and we've never owned a pool before. Every single year the policy seems to pay for itself just with the different things that we need to get done around the house.

    I've been very pleased with American Home Shield's service and I had no problem with it. Usually when you request either online or in person, you get a callback within 24 hours of who's gonna come out. And they identify themselves when they come out so you feel really secure about it. But I learned that instead of doing a claim online, I should call American Home Shield because if I wanna request a certain service, I get who I want that way. When doing it online, it seems you get whatever the computer throws out. I knew this one appliance place that I didn't want. My son has American Home Shield and he has so much trouble with that appliance place. It was a microwave situation. The technicians took it out and they didn't know what they were doing it. They brought it back and it was back and forth. It's a hassle.

    I had a claim in June and it was for the control panel on my oven that went out. American Home Shield was gonna send out this appliance person but I called them immediately and said I didn't want that person. The lady said that if I wanted somebody, I should call them and it would be easier. That's what I've been doing when I needed anything. For this claim, American Home Shield then sent out a GE serviceman. I have a GE Profile so they sent out the one I wanted. He was very good.

    I needed two parts. One part came but we waited and waited for the other one. I kept calling and finding out. They were trying to get it. I understand that right now, a lot of people are having problems getting appliances. The part was delayed and they weren't able to get the part until the end of August. With everything that's going on now, who knows where the parts are made and where they are shipped from. But the oven is fixed now and it works.

    I've had no bad luck with American Home Shield. They've been really good. They replaced the motor of my dishwasher one time and it's been fine since then. I also had a ceiling fan that went out and I paid for an upgraded one and not the one they wanted to give me. I've had the home warranty for four years and I've had no problem with them. American Home Shield is nice because you can pick how much you wanna pay for the service call. But if it's a cheaper service call, you're paying more for your policy. I would recommend American Home Shield to my friends. In fact, a lot of them have it. One of my friends had had it for 30 some odd years. When she got her home, the real estate agent suggested that she should get it. They did and they like it.

    The AC made a really bad noise and the fan motor burned up. It quit running so we called Home Shield. A guy from Myers came out and checked it. He went back in just a few hours on a Sunday. He said he had to order a new fan motor and he would put it in as soon as it came. They did and it worked. My wife says it took too long to get the part. It was 10 days before they fixed it. But other than that, it was really good. Having a home warranty is worthwhile.

    There was a plumbing issue recently that AHS sent Wade's Plumbing out. They handled it very nicely. But before that, I had an experience with May Heating. The AC was not working upstairs. Their guy came and just looked at it. It was a couple of minutes. Then he said the water flush was not working as well as the pump. He said he would order it and then replace it. It was 20 days. Then I called the insurance. I called May Heating and they said it was something else. The guy put something weird. Then they sent me an invoice, which they asked me to pay $1,500. I was shocked. The guy didn't even spend two minutes and then he said that.

    Then I got an outsider. He said it had nothing to do with that. I spent $70 with it and then I had to pay the outsider hardly $50 to fix that. It was nothing else. Then the charges, he gave me the invoice for R22. But I could fill it for $20. Then he gave me an invoice for $90 or something. So, I don’t know if that's how it works with insurance or AHS. Finally, I said that I don't want to deal with AHS. When I called them, they were generous and said I could get a cash-out option. But there is a catch. They said I have to replace the evaporator coil. There is nothing wrong with that in the first place. Why should I replace it and do that?

    The customer service has to agree on who’s serving American Home Shield. For the plumbing, I made the request, and then when I went online, it said nothing on the status. The contractor wanted to schedule an appointment, then I called this contractor. He said he'd call me back in 10 minutes. After a week, I called, and it was the same thing. After the third week, he tells me that they're not working with American Home Shield anymore. I had to call American Home Shield again to tell them that. Then I had to spend two hours online to reschedule it to somebody else. It is totally ridiculous. Why should I be online to AHS to check and reschedule with somebody else? I am very much dissatisfied and I won’t recommend them. I started looking for outside service.

    I called Home Shield and they called Arrow Air Systems then the technician came out. For about two days, the system ran fine. When I returned the call back to Home Shield, I told them that my air system had gone back out again. They contacted the guy and he came back. He said that I had some bad wires, that he would be going back to the office, and he would get that handled. He also told me that as soon as he got it in, he would be back to put it in. He was there on time. I just went on his word. But I haven't heard from him since.

    I had Home Shield first to cover my whole home and I had a kitchen fire. They were speedy in fixing it and getting the proper steps done. They took care of what they had to do. But what I didn't understand was why they dropped me. They made the claim, they paid, and then they did that. But people from insurance companies do that. I told my home mortgage company about it and they found me an insurance company.

    The blower on my air was not working. The air conditioner was running, but no cold air was coming out because the blower was not functioning correctly. The air conditioner guy came out but when he did, it was functioning. because the blower was still doing its job, he couldn't replace it. But he could tell it was going bad. He said his temperature gauge could see that the blower was overheating. He said the blower is gonna go out any day. He also said, “Because you have a warranty company, I cannot replace this blower until it is not functioning.” He said if I was a paying customer, he would’ve replaced it that day. He left that day knowing that it was broken, and that it wasn't gonna work one day. The next day, my house smelled like it was burning. The blower was burning up.

    My only issue with American Home Shield is that should’ve been replaced that day. The guy knew it was broken. That was my biggest hang-up with them. My house could’ve been on fire in the attic. 140 degrees is insane. The fact that it had to come to that is what really bothered me. It affected the safety of my family. I have three little kids and I had to pack up and leave my house.

    The guy came back and my attic was over 140 degrees. He could not even get up there to physically repair it. I had to leave my home and wait until he could come back again after everything cooled off a whole 24 hours later to replace it. I have had other issues where I've used American Home Shield and the claims have gone fine. This was my only bad experience. It's probably the worst. But everything else is great. They got someone out to my house right away.

    I really liked the company that came out and worked with us on our problem. They were very nice. We were not getting hot water to portions of the house and they were explaining to me the issues in details, including how it affects the house and how things run. I liked the service. After they came out to inspect it, we found that the issue was the recirculating pump and something else attached to it that they needed to replace. As soon as they got approved and they had the part, they called to schedule an appointment. It was within a reasonable time, once they gave me a call, and then they were here.

    Besides the time it took, it went great. I understand they had to get it approved through American Home Shield. However, being upfront about how long the approval process would take would be beneficial, especially for those that are doing their first claim or somebody that hasn't used them previously. About 45 days before that, someone else came out here and supposed to have been fixing the same problem with the refrigerator.     The oven wasn't coming on. I called American Home Shield and put the claim in. I went through an automated system, and the process was pretty easy. It said that the contractor would contact me within a certain timeframe. It took the guy a little longer than what I expected. It was a holiday and we had a tropical storm. It was a lot going on so I wasn't really pressed by it. But when he got here, we come to find out that it's an old oven. There's a button on the oven that if it’s not set a certain way or pushed in, the oven won’t come on. So, he showed me the button. The oven was fine. He was very pleasant and very knowledgeable.

The tech was a nice guy. He had to come back out and figure out the icemaker. He had to order a part for that. Then, the dishwasher still continued to have trip errors and wasn't drying them.     Filing a claim is online with no place to leave comments. Claims are not update with actual notes - just a drop down status. Calling customer service is always a minimum of 30 minute wait. Don’t use the call back function - you will get a call and then they hang up while you are speaking. There is no one to talk to and no way to email or chat. I have a plumbing problem that has been open for over two weeks and no response. This is typical of most every request for service. Very unsatisfactory service. Contract won’t be renewed.

    The claim was very easy. I put in the request during the holiday. I didn't get a response that day but I did get a quick response after that on Tuesday or Wednesday and we scheduled the contractor to come in. That was pretty awesome. They were able to come in that same week. The guy came on Thursday or Friday. He came in already prepared. He had a new garbage disposal with him. He said it would take him five minutes. I was a little skeptical but he took five, eight minutes to squat and switch it out and he was done. However, the garbage disposal wasn't the same manufacturer and it wasn't the same power. This one is a half and I had one that was three quarters. It's also a little louder than my old one. It's much smaller than the one that I had before and the quality may be a little less.     One of the valves in our AC was broken and it was low on freon. Once I called American Home Shield, they went ahead and on the following day, Right Tech called me. Right Tech did a good job. They came in on time and took care of my AC unit. They showed me the part after the tech took it out. They did a lot of stuff to it. They fixed it and double-checked everything. Everything worked out well. They went through the backyard and all that and they were very professional. They wore their mask and had gloves on. I put my face mask on too. The AC is working great. While they were there, they showed me the temperature and all that. I'm very happy with that company that AHS has. Then AHS also followed up with me.

    I have two other rental properties. I sold one rental property in April, so I took off American Home Shield. I still have AHS on my other rental home and they have been doing a good job. I did have another company before, but the problem I was having with that company was that they provided me only one company. And if that company couldn't fix it, there was nothing they could do. Every time they provide a company, it would take them four days. They sent the same company four times.

    My tenants were threatening my property management, saying that they're gonna sue me because they were super cold. So, I had to pay 900 bucks out of pocket just to send some private company to fix it. Then that company returned my money and after I got paid, I went in and stopped them. Then I got American Home Shield. I asked AHS if I would have an issue where the company that they would send couldn't fix the issue, they would give me the opportunity to send a different company to fix it. And AHS said that they would pick somebody else. Also, AHS is quick. If I call them today, I'll have the company calling me tomorrow for an appointment.

    Having my warranty policy, I have more certainty and clarity around how to get service. I don't have to find a service provider, whether that be for plumbing, the AC or whatever. I know I'm getting someone good, and I know that they're replying to me. They always get back to me in a timely manner as well. When I submit a claim, it's easy and I always get a call within 24 hours to schedule an appointment. I'm typically able to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time too.

    The tray that the AC unit in the attic sits in was filling up with water, so I submitted that claim and the technician from United Air Temp has been out several times now. There was an initial thought that it was a clogged drain, and that was causing it to back up and water filled the tray at the bottom. However, I checked again a few days later, and it was still filling up with water. The second time, the technician looked inside and identified that it was a crack in the pan that sits under the coil. The pan catches the moisture and directs it towards the normal drainage, but there’s a crack. Some of the water was falling through to the tray at the bottom

    The technician had to come out another time because they couldn't find the pan based on the serial number. He came back out to find some more identification on it, which there was another number on there that they were able to use to find the matching part. Now is the fourth time he has been out and this should be the final one. He's got the matching part and he's putting it in right now.

    My furnace had condensation leaking out of it, coming down the sides, and puddling my basement floor. I called Home Shield and it went fine. Then, they contacted the vendor and within a couple of days, the vendor was in and taking care of the issue. I also had them do some additional work on the side of that - check-up and stuff that's completely independent and separate, and the tech was great. Everything has been fine and working as it should.

He turned what he needed in to them but they couldn't find it so they gave us the option for a new one. However, it turned out to be a nightmare. It was two months without an oven. The new oven was supposed to ship out on the 19th. We were supposed to have it installed the next weekend, the 26th. It wasn't here so we had to call and start searching. They didn't even bother to ship it until the 26th and they delivered it on the 16th of this month.

    We went into our laundry one night because we heard a noise that we hadn't heard before. I turned the washing machine off and even though the machine was off, when I opened up the lid, the water was still pouring into the tub. It was a panic situation because the drum was almost completely full of water and the load that we had in the washing machine was probably no more than about six inches deep. It was a very small load. We reached behind the machine and turned the water in the faucet valve off. Abner, the rep from the company that came out, was very helpful, professional, friendly and knew exactly what he was doing. He was able to identify what the issue was and get that handled.

    We also had the same gentleman look at our side-by-side refrigerator. Our icemaker suddenly stopped making ice and at the same time, there was some dripping of water from somewhere up higher in the refrigerator compartment that was dripping down into the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and forming a little pool of water down there. So, he was able to get that particular problem fixed right away. Then, he determined that there was a problem in the icemaker that required a part. It is on order and as soon as we receive that, then he can come back out and install that. His skills and professionalism for the refrigerator as well was superb and we have nothing but high praises for him. We were very pleased with Abner and we would recommend him.

    Our contract with American Home Shield goes from the end of July of this year to the end of July next year. Since we have subscribed to their service and even when I was calling to think about whether we were gonna go with them or not, all of the people that we've talked with have also been very friendly, professional and helpful on the phone. The only negative is that it’s very difficult to try to get someone on the phone. I waited on the phone one time for three hours on hold. And another time, for an hour or so. Other than wait times on the telephone, we have had nothing but good experiences with the company and I would not be discouraged in going with them just because of that.

    The lamp and the bulb are in the fan and I never used the fans. I only use the lamps. I always operated from a switch on the wall. One lamp broke because it would turn on and then turn off. The fan never worked and the other fan also never worked. There was only one remote control and that didn't work either. The diagnosis was that it's not the lamp that is broken but the remote. In other words, if I had two remote controls and proper receivers, I could use both lamp and ceiling fan properly. American Home Shield rejected the claim. I asked them if I could ask the people who were already here to do the repair. It was back and forth then they gave me the phone number and the name of that guy. I called this person on Friday. They haven't called back but it's only Monday.

    American Home Shield is usually good. What I really appreciate is that they send someone in in the first place 'cause that has always been my weakness. I pay them not to pay for my new fridge but because they know how to get a contractor here. I'm happy to pay as long as someone can come in. That's often the bigger problem for me. I usually can afford to pay someone but I can't find someone to bother to come.

    I own the house with my former husband and he had so much more money than me. So I never worried if something went wrong. I just call up and say, "Hey, such and such needs to be fixed. Would you help me work on that?" But he died and I needed to make sure that I was okay. My son told me about American Home Shield. He has it and he lives in another state. So I immediately got American Home Shield. I didn't need it at the moment, but it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

    Recently, the AC didn't blow out cold air. I called AHS to submit a claim. Town & Country came out and they tried to get the parts. After not being able to get the parts for it, AHS sent me a whole new unit. I have had a good experience with American Home Shield all around. They do things really well. If I need service, I can do it online on my account and they ask me what it is. As an example, stove or oven, heating element, it gives the serviceman an idea of what he's gonna be bringing with him. Then you pay your money at that time, and then they process the money, and set up your appointment. It all happens fairly quickly.

    When the contractors come out, they tell you exactly what's going on. They don't hide anything from you. They let you know what's going on, about how long it's gonna be. They keep up with you if there's gonna be a delay for whatever. Like with my air conditioning, not being able to find the part after two weeks, they let me know that they couldn't find it and they were sending a new unit, and that would take a little bit longer.

    The electric people did exactly what they were supposed to do. They came out and fixed the problem. The circuit breaker went out. I needed a new circuit breaker. American Home Shield tried to order the part of the compressor itself but it was on delay and they kept saying it was because of Corona. So it took three weeks to get the compressor. It was in July so it was hot. Eventually, they let the person who did the work to order the compressor, which was right in the shop. The tech went out the next day and he installed it. It worked fine. But American Home Shield's supply chain needs some work.

    Having the warranty, you don't have to worry about finding contractors because contractors are the most unreliable people on the planet. They might be good at their task, but managing the company is a whole other animal. So you don't have to go out individually and find a contractor for each thing. That's the good part. The bad part is if it's peak season for whatever you're looking for, everybody else is looking for it.

    It went well with True Vine Appliance Repair. They fixed the issue with the dryer that wasn't working. They came out within a couple of days but they had to come back. When they fixed it, the fuse blew again so I had to call them back and they were able to resolve the issue. However, the service fee with American Home Shield is too high. We have to pay that every time we schedule a service person. You have 30 days and you don't have to pay anything if they have to come back out but $100 is a lot. I pay a monthly fee so again, that's way too high.

    We were with a competitor for our first two years in the house. That recommendation came from our Realtor so we stayed with the same one. We kept seeing the commercial about Home Shield so I called them to see what the price difference was and it was a little bit cheaper so we decided we would try it out and see. It pays to have the home warranty.

    I went online and submitted an AC claim and within a few hours, I was contacted. The first time the tech from R&K Heating came out, he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I said that it makes no sense that I start out at 68 degrees and late morning to mid-afternoon, it's 75 to 77 in the house. It wasn't doing that before. Within two days, it was doing the same thing and I called him back. They sent somebody else out and at that time, it was doing the same thing, running and running. It was frozen in the unit because it had continually ran, which was what I thought was wrong with the first time.

    They ordered a part and they had to come back and fix it once they got the part. After that, he came back one more time because it did it again. He cleaned everything out and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He said maybe it was just that it's so hot that it can't keep up. But I've had no problems since then. It's been much better since then. The main unit is much cooler.

    Our dryer was making a noise. It was very easy submitting a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor was supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00. He called earlier in the morning and he informed us well in advance that he was not gonna make it for that time, and that was fine. At least he let us know, so that was really good. Then once he got here, the service was quick and efficient. The repair was not completed because he needed to order a part, but he got it functioning so that we can use it. We just got the part Saturday night and he already had scheduled an appointment with us, before he left, for the 13th of October to complete the repairs once the part came in.

    This is the second time that I've used AHS for a claim. It was funny because it was within a week. We have another property and something happened at the other property, and then a week later, something happened at this property. But both times, the scheduling of the service was extremely quick and easy. Then they promised and said, "Someone will call you. This is when they're gonna come out." Everything went like they said it was going to. Whenever they were scheduled, that was when they showed up. At the other property, the repair was completed immediately. It was a very good experience so far.

    The ice machine wasn't working and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield, which took two minutes and it was done. I got my text message on who was coming out and set it up. The contractor was fine so that went well but the process didn’t. My ice machine is frozen so, the repairman couldn't break it apart to see what the issue was because it was stuck. He said that I was gonna have to unfreeze everything, which was not an option because it would take forever. He told me to contact Samsung to see if they have another suggestion on how to make it better. Still, I recommend AHS to everyone. They have been a lifesaver to me. They’re affordable and quick to support you. I've read people being scammed with these types of organizations but I don't feel at all like I've been scammed.     When I would call American Home Shield, they would immediately try to fix the issue. One time, they contacted Elite Pro to try to expedite the process for us. My refrigerator was down and before, I didn't know that I could call and make changes, so I stuck with the first company that was sent (ADA). I was so miserable with that company that I didn't realize that I could change it in between. My refrigerator has been down for two months when we contacted American Home Shield to try to get assistance because we weren't getting any from ADA.

    After I expressed my issue, American Home Shield immediately assisted and took the opportunity to contact another company to try to see if there's any sooner availability. I was satisfied about that. I like that customer service part. Imagine if I was having a miserable situation. I was frustrated with the other company, and then I called American Home Shield and they're like, "No, we have to stick with one." I would've lost it.

    Elite Pro called us the next business day after I left a message, and then they scheduled us the next business day for service. The technician that came really worked on the refrigerator. I could tell that he was thoroughly checking it 'cause I was telling him what was going on. It was things like the ice machine wasn't working, it wasn't producing water, it wasn't cooling, and it wasn't freezing. He went straight to the problem and he was able to fix it.

    Unfortunately, after he came out and fixed the problem, another issue came up days later. The water dispenser was acting up. It was stopping and going and then, it would act as if something is open, but nothing was open. I immediately contacted them and told them the issue, and they came out to check it, and then they figured that there were other issues with it. The middle drawers weren't working anymore because during all those times that my refrigerator had been off and on, the ice was melting. It got in-between the crevices of the system and that's why that was not working.

    Elite Pro was the one that was doing amazing most, including the technician and customer service on the office. They were wonderful because they knew how to attend to us. They would immediately schedule appointments, and they didn't wait because they knew the issues that I was having. They felt sympathy for us. The other company, they didn't at all. I love that Elite Pro immediately attended to our needs. At the end of the day, the refrigerator is a machine and I don't expect somebody to fix it immediately if there are issues and the fact that parts have to be ordered. However, because we had the part, Elite Pro was able to fix it when they came out. The other company left the part here and that's what I told American Home Shield.

    I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. In the last last couple years, we haven't had any issues as much with appliances, so before, I would feel like, "Do we really need it? Nothing's breaking down." Every single time I wanted to cancel, there's always things like, "I know how it's gonna be. If I cancel this, something is gonna break down." I kept procrastinating. "Summer's coming. Heat is gonna be strong. Let me just keep it one more. After the summer, we'll see what happens." and then sure enough, the AC went out. After that it was the refrigerator, and then the stove. Now, I have the call about my dryer.

    My sump pump was tripping the circuit breaker and someone from Home Service Corporation came out the next day. He looked at it and said, "Check the circuit." We did a few things to see if the circuit would trip, and he looked at it and said, "Okay, this needs to be replaced." He happened to have one in his truck and the whole thing took 30 minutes.

    I had a little bit of difficulty twice with Home Shield. Once, it was resolved quickly. We couldn't find someone who was willing to come out quickly. But they allowed me to go outside of the contract, which I did. That company came out right away and I was reimbursed right away. The second time, the claim was for the air conditioner. The original company that they gave me to call to contact said they couldn't come out for 10 days. We were in the 90s, which for Michigan means it's really about 100 or more because of humidity.

    So I called to let them know, and they looked for someone and they couldn't find anyone. Then they contacted the original company. There was some miscommunication there because they told Home Shield that, "Oh, yeah, we can come out right away. In fact, we can come out tomorrow." When Home Shield called me back, I said, "They were pretty adamant." But it turned out that there was a huge miscommunication with that particular company. So they had to call back and say, "No, that person was wrong. We can't come out 'til 10 days." In that instance, I just went outside of the contract. I did not submit it because I didn't think I could but that was okay. The cost was what I consider nominal.

    American Home Shield is a very good service to have especially when your home gets a little older and you're possibly gonna have more issues. In my case, I'm a widow and I don't really have anyone to rely upon anymore. These services come in and they're very good for me. All Air Heating & Air Conditioning was wonderful. They were here within a couple of hours. The guy walked in and knew exactly what it was. He fixed it and it was done. I've had them before and they are really awesome. However, when I reach out to American Home Shield, sometimes it's a little irritating. I don't believe that the people that you call are within the state. Sometimes they have such very strong accent that it's very difficult to understand them. If they spoke English a little better, it would really be helpful.

    We had our disposal replaced and the contractors did well. They put a mask and shoe covers, which was what I asked them to do. They left for 30 minutes and came back with a new disposal and they changed them out. The new disposal is working fine, so far. We usually submit claims online and it's very straightforward. They also sent me back an email letting me know that a certain company would be out to take a look at the problem. The contractors came and looked at our air conditioner. It wasn't blowing cold air.     I went through the internet to file a claim. It asked me what unit and household I was trying to file a claim on. I picked the unit and it asked me descriptions of things that have gone wrong with it. I selected it and hit submit. The contractor was pleasant. He said there was nothing wrong with the water heater. It was brand new. But he did cut the water up. He also let me know a lot of things that I didn't know about cutting the water heater up and down. I still can’t get my hot water to stay hot though. It’s okay, but I don’t know what’s going on with that unit. It's a 50-gallon tank. I don't know whether that's a small tank, but it wasn't doing it.     We had a leak in our bathtub faucet. I would turn the bath faucet off and it would drip. My husband was here when Discount Contractors came. My husband said that the guy was in and out pretty quickly and he didn't make a mess. So I'm very satisfied. The faucet still drips a tiny bit but not constantly. Before the repair, it was like quarter of a cup an hour and it was leaving an orange stripe on the bathtub. That's not happening anymore.

    American Home Shield is great and I love their website. Filing a claim online takes two seconds and it's very easy. They provide you with a contractor name and number. Then they'll say that the contractor will call you, but it is a best practice for you to call the contractor, especially if it's a claim that needs help soon. I would 100% recommend having a home warranty. The peace of mind that it grants is good. But sometimes it's frustrating with American Home Shield because of the amount of follow-up. It's kind of a hassle to contact contractors and to get on their schedule. So it has a benefit but there is also a little bit of work.

    The guy was timely, polite and very professional. He was here within a day or so and did the job that he said he would do. My refrigerator was leaking water and it destroyed the whole kitchen floor. He was able to stop it and do the repair. I had another problem here the other day. My garage door wouldn't open. I called American Home Shield and I had to pay $75. But they said it wasn't covered under my policy. I thought when something goes wrong in your house, it is covered. They said it wasn't the door, it was the opener. I had the contractor fix it so I can get in and out of my garage but I've had to pay for that myself. The $75 just went to the company or to American Home Shield which is a little unfair. If you're paying $75 and you end up having to pay for the repair yourself which in this case is $400 the $75 should have gone towards the repair.

    I also saw an email the other day that they could provide a service tune-up for $75. Then if the person found anything wrong, you'd have to pay another $75 for them to repair. That seemed a little bit unfair. But I like American Home Shield. It's been about almost 20 years now when I bought the house and the people had already had the service with American Home Shield so I just continued with it. Being a homeowner, especially for single women, you'd need that backup. I would recommend for any single woman with a home to purchase one.

    The garbage disposal was leaking. I called American Home Shield's 800 number and notified them. The claims experience was pretty pleasant. The claims this year has been way more pleasant than last year. Last year, was not so much pleasant. I wasn't even going to re-sign up with them. Last year, they fought every time we would call about the problem. They fought all the time on why they would not fix something. So we were not going to go back with them. Then some guy was kind enough to follow up with me in the wintertime. He said he would give me a discount to give AHS another try because he understands how important customer service is.

    For the garbage disposal claim, A-1 Haney Plumbing came out. The garbage disposal seems to be working well. Then when I was phone, I told AHS, “Also, our toilet, it runs and quits, runs and quits, runs and quits” They said, “Okay, we’ll write up that ticket.” Then I said, “Last year, whoever came out and did the water heater, I felt like maybe it hasn't been quite right still.” Whatever connects to the water heater sweats water off and sometimes it can just puddle up hot. The contractors who came out this time were fine. The repair helped a lot. Everything this year has been pretty good.
