I was having an issue with a couple of lights. It looked like I had one circuit upstairs for all the can lights which kept tripping. It was easy enough to go through the website to submit the claim. Sometimes I've noticed that the site doesn't have all of the options that could potentially be there. It'd be nice to be able to have an other section so you can fill out and say what the problem is. But either way, it works.
The electrician came out and it was raining. He did look up the upstairs lights and said, "This is what's going on but they're not gonna buy fixtures. That's not gonna be covered." He came downstairs to look at the outside light, pulled the switch plate off the switches, looked at the switch, and said everything was fine. Then he closed it up and said he'd be back on Thursday to look at the lights outside to see what was going on. He never came back on Thursday. He closed out the claim with American Home Shield so American Home Shield said they couldn't do anything about it 'cause the guy said he was done. He put in the notes that there was a short. How would he know that? He didn't even look at the lights. He didn't do anything. He basically looked at the switch and said the switch was fine and left. He just put a false claim in there 'cause he had no idea what was causing the situation.
The other three claims that we've put in have been worked very quickly. But this one with this electrician, he did a fraudulent claim and didn't do any work to be able to diagnose what the real problem was. I pulled the light off and ran a wire to it from another circuit, and the lights work perfectly. So the lights are not tripping. There's something wrong with the wiring in the house. I'm not happy with the electrician. American Home Shield is a good service but they have to watch out for some of the contractors that they utilize.

Submitting a claim to Home Shield has been easy. I usually call. They just take down what's wrong, and then find a vendor, then the vendor calls me from there. Care Appliance Repair's tech came out the first time, figured out what was wrong with the washer, and said he had to order the parts. And then, he came back and installed the parts. It has worked okay since then.

I've done a claim with American Home Shield before and this time, it was really easy. The control board went out on my furnace up in my attic and the guy who came was very professional. He went over everything he was doing. There really wasn't anything to clean up. It was just taking a control board off and putting a new one on. But he showed up on time and told me what the process was to get the part. Their office called and made another appointment within the day. He was really good and their office is excellent.

I have a friend who utilizes American Home Shield, and they liked it. I decided to add it on my home. It's pretty simple to do claims with them. I did one for the oven that stopped working. They sent out a repair guy two days later, and then it took 10 days for him to come back and fix it. The only critique I would give to American Home Shield is that there's a process by which you fill out something on their online portal. They need to know then the make and model of whatever appliance it is, and then you can't just write in what the problem is. You have to pick from a list of the symptoms. They should have somewhere where you can write it in because the pick list didn't have what the problem was. The pick list needs to be more specific or have more options. Other than that, they did a beautiful job disclosing how the process works and what the payment situation is.

The sink sprayer was somehow not functioning correctly and it kept getting stuck in the on position and spraying everywhere. DrainGo came out and replaced it. The technician has been in the house like three other times and we like that guy. I have a new sink problem and I’ll have to put that claim in pretty soon.

American Home Shield has been great. The process was very easy. It didn't take them a very long time to get to somebody then for them to get to me. It was a very quick turnaround. The guy was awesome and did a great job. He was super nice and very clean. He fixed the issues that some of my locks were having plus he re-keyed them so everything's been great.

Everything went well with the technician from Certified Comfort Heating & AC. We had to wait until he could get a part. He got it and then he restored it. A wire had corroded on the AC, and he had to remove the plate and put a new one on. So far, everything is working okay. As far as American Home Shield, their annual fee is quite pricey but I still would recommend them.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I wasn't around when Draingo first came in. I was traveling for quite some time. They fixed what they saw the problem was, and I don't think they knew that there were two problems. But they came right back and fixed it. It ended up being a very good situation. I was pleased with how they handled it. As far as American Home Shield, I have been more pleased with it than I have in the past. It's been made easier with being able to do things on the internet. But I've had a few issues with them throughout the years. The big thing for me that happened a couple years back was there was a plumbing group, and they weren't very good, and I didn't have a choice. They kept assigning that same company. That company created a pretty big issue for me that cost me a pretty significant amount of money.
I bought a house that was not super old but old enough where I didn't really know how long things were gonna last and how well they were constructed. It's been nice not to have to pay for all of the things that go out. When they're older, they stop working. With AHS, there have been a number of things that I've been pleased with such as the air conditioning systems and the oven.

My microwave wasn’t working. American Home Shield sent GE Appliances for it. They changed a switch in the microwave, but the electrical plug on the circuit breakers was bad as well. So, they told us to get an electrician, which we did yesterday and he changed the electrical plugs. It's working now.

The guy came out for the stuff in the refrigerator that was disconnected. He showed me where the filter is. He was helpful because I don't have any information about the house and the appliances, and he showed me how to handle them. He was great. He was very nice too. For the second order, a guy named Adam came on Monday. He reviewed everything but he didn't have the tools. He said that in order to fix the leaking in the faucet in the kitchen, it's going to be a total replacement because they cannot untie the parts. For the bathtub, he said that he had to order too.
When I called the third time for this bathtub, I asked Adam to review and check it entirely. He said, "Maybe the next time." He left because he said that he was going to come with the order. But he also needs to review the second bathtub because the first one was leaking. We found out because the first bathtub was downstairs and my wife's taking a shower in the bath. I heard the leaking because the water started dripping and dripping on the top of the chimney that they have in the living room that is made of metal. When I asked for help, they came and Adam said that he needed to break the wall and he was going to come back later. But instead, Charles came and he fixed the problem. He didn't want to break the wall. He was very competent and excellent. He fixed it right away and showed me how to do that.

I lost heat in my house and it turned out that I had air in the piped and they needed to be bled. I had attempted to bleed the pipes myself and one valve didn’t close right. It was leaking a little. That wasn't part of the original service call, but these two kids, probably both about maybe 24, 25-ish, were awesome. They were polite, respectful, and neat. The kid who was clearly the senior of the two of them looked at a valve that was dripping. He said that it was gonna take him five minutes to do and he fixed it. He just did it himself before he left. They were incredible. The heat is working awesome now. It’s the time of the year where it starts getting cold again here in New England.
I had an issue last year and I had to call American Home Shield. A valve on the furnace was actually gone and that was fixed last year. Also, back in the spring, I had a valve go and AHS sent somebody out. I literally had to give the kid the part that was used to fix the furnace. So in comparison to the previous ones who came out, these two kids this year were awesome. They are excellent representatives of what AHS stands for. Even with that one bad experience, the best thing I have ever done in my life was to get an American Home Shield policy. AHS is fantastic. In all the times I’ve had to use them, I've had zero complaints. I tell people all the time that I have American Home Shield.

Prolite was good. The tech was a very friendly and professional. One of my claims was for the refrigerator. It was not getting cold and the freezer wasn't working. The problem was something electrical and the tech fixed it. The second claim was for the washing machine. It was making a loud noise when it was turning. The tech had to change four springs on the machine. He ordered the parts and came back a week later and put them on. It's working great now.
I called in a claim when the garage door was making a big loud noise. The tech that came out said that the door panels were broken and they were not covered by Home Shield. But when I did the contract, Home Shield told me that everything was covered except for the pool ground but they would cover everything on top. So I was in the impression that everything in the house was covered, including my garage. But I just paid the deductible and they didn't fix anything on the garage. I told Home Shield to send me a copy of the contract because I don't remember how I did the contract, if it was a written contract or I signed it over the phone. So they said they're gonna send the contract which says that the door panels are not covered.

ABNation came out to work on our pool but after the pool pump was put in, when my husband came home, he noticed that there was a lot of noise from the pool pump, which was louder than the other one. So, I sent the technician a video so he could hear the noise. I told him that the ears to the motor mount had holes in them where it gets screwed down to the cement concrete, while the other one was not. I sent him a text and asked if he could screw that down if he was out in this area again. But his response back to me was that I could get someone to do that if I wanted but he didn't want to come back to do it. Then, about a day or two later, the motor wasn't making as loud a noise as what it was originally doing. Other than that, the guy was good. He put the stuff in and I just didn't realize at the time that that motor was terribly loud.
I had one other thing done under the warranty and it was for the refrigerator. The tech came and told me that the problem with the refrigerator was a fan motor. So, he replaced it. But my refrigerator still makes that weird noise every now and then, though not as bad as it used to do. They're like the grinding weird noise and that was what the fridge did originally, until finally, the motor burnt out. So I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to fail eventually. It's working like a charm now but it would make a weird noise out of the blue. It can just happen during the day or at nighttime when we're in bed. I never called back Sears for it at all because I figured I was probably just going to be told that as long as it's working, that's all that matters.
Besides that, we had to wait a couple few days for the part on the refrigerator and we had to wait close to a week. Thank goodness I have another fridge. If I have a problem with the AC, I used to have a company come out here and they'd be out here within an hour to diagnose and fix it. But if our air conditioner ever goes out, I wonder how long I'm gonna wait for service. The guy who did the pool pump told me that on certain days of the week, they do this city. So if you're a few days off from that date, you're waiting.

The seals around the garbage disposal itself had broken down to a nonfixable level. Plumbing Enterprises did a very good job. They went ahead and swapped out the garbage disposal. They were in earlier and out early, and they wore masks throughout the service. American Home Shield is a very good service. It's been dependable each time I've needed to use the service. It's been 98% beneficial. I had one bad incident which eventually was resolved but it took almost four months to get a fix for a toilet issue I had. The technician wanted me to replace a toilet. It turned out all they needed to do is replace a part in the toilet. Other than that, everybody else has been stellar.

I called and made the claim for my refrigerator. When I made the appointment, I called them on a Monday and they asked for my availability and I said Friday. But they made it for two weeks out. That irritated me. I got it straightened out and the repairman came. He took a look at it and told me what was wrong. But he didn't leave any paperwork that he had come into my house. When I asked my daughter if he left any paperwork or when was he coming back? She said that he only said he had to order a part.
I called American Home Shield to see when he was coming back and what was the status because I have been without a refrigerator for too long. Then the repairman came and he fixed it. He was very nice and very knowledgeable on what he was doing. I was satisfied with his service. He was a really great guy. So, at the end, it all worked out. Everything is still working okay. With American Home Shield, I love that all I have to do is pay a deductible, and then they come out. If it's not repairable, then it gets replaced.

I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. They responded. However, I did file a claim and it did take like six weeks to get it resolved. It was a microwave and it had been repaired in the past which was fine. When it went down again, the technician came out and said there was nothing he could do. He was recommending replacement and trying to get it finalized was difficult.
American Home Shield put out an email about offering other services. I did have my heating checked and the guy did a great job. He also offered power washing so I arranged to have someone power wash through American Home Shield. I definitely needed my driveway power washed and it was fair-priced. The guy that they gave the work to called me and said he only got 100 feet of hose. I had to set out my hoses for him. Then he said he only got 100-foot electrical so I put out my extension cords. I've never met someone come out that was not prepared. He should have handled it. There was another offer that I signed up for cleaning my gutters. I called them and said, "After this experience, no thanks." But the other people American Home Shield has had were very professional and really good at what they do. I've had one contractor come out to handle a plumbing repair and they did a great job.

AHS needs to have more operators answering phones. JJ’s Fire and Ice was sent out recently for the AC issue. According to the guy, my coolant was leaking up there and my trays were falling apart. It was pretty easy to file a claim. I'm kind of a little bit old school. I ended up calling them. I felt more comfortable that way. I called them out here twice and they responded pretty quickly. The most recent claim was for the dishwasher. The guy that they sent out here was pretty awesome. We had a delay. He had to order two parts for the dishwasher. But that was probably par for the course. The dishwasher was working after he replaced the parts. For the HVAC, our heat pump wasn't working at all. The two guys that they sent out here got it working. But it was a little peculiar that they couldn't give me an answer as to what was wrong. So I never did know.
If you have a dishwasher problem or a certain appliance, American Home Shield sends one person. If you have a heating and air conditioning problem, they send somebody else. It would have been nice to have somebody that would have been able to handle everything. But overall, it's been a positive experience for us. American Home Shield gives us peace of mind that if some area our refrigerator goes out, it's either gonna be fixed or replaced. Or if it's something worse than that, you don't have the burden of having to come up with a lot of money.

I've been with Home Shield for years. Sometimes, they send somebody out who doesn't do a very good job. Sometimes, they send somebody else who does. Recently, I put in a request and I haven't got anybody. It's for the third time a contractor needs to come out on the same problem. I had one toilet that was running constantly. It wouldn't fill up the tank. I'm sure it was the little flap at the bottom. I had another toilet that would occasionally run. Also, I have to hold it down a long time for it to finish flushing. That toilet had begun to run at every 10 minutes like it's losing some water from the flap as well. So, the contractor came out, they adjusted it, but it didn't do anything. And then, I went through Home Shield's website and requested but I haven't even heard anything back from that. But I've been with other companies and switched back to Home Shield because I prefer their service.

I had an issue a couple of months ago where the water heater that I got flooded my basement and I had to get Jet Vacs. I had to spend a couple days out of work and then, the service got delayed. The company came and they were nasty people. They did a horrible job. Also, there’s Covid and they were not wearing masks nor covering their feet. I gotta tell them to cover their feet and to put masks on. They looked at the water heater and it was all busted up. They laughed and then, they turned around and said that I wasn't very nice. AHS gave me a water heater that has dents in it. Maybe I should’ve inspected my new water heater when I got it.
AHS sent me another company. The other company, Stilwell Plumbing, came and did a great job. I took pictures of the damage and AHS promised to help me out a little bit. I had to buy heaters and fans to dry the basement and AHS said that I should send the receipt and they would reimburse me. I’ve sent four emails and the receipts but nothing. I sent three respectful emails asking if they could update me on this and they called me and said they were saying okay for the fan. I never heard back from them and we're pushing six months. I'm still fighting now to get money for the fans I had to buy to dry my basement. In the span of eight months, my basement got flooded twice. A full water heater flooding your basement is a lot of work. AHS has no integrity. If you’re making a commitment to somebody and you don't follow through, that ends all the thought of integrity or that I can trust their company.
You can't get anybody on the phone with American Home Shield. When you call them, being on hold an hour and a half is not unusual. I've called several times in the last couple of weeks but I have a job and I can't wait on hold that long. AHS don't answer emails nor answer the phone. When they answer the phone, there's always a language barrier. When trying to have a conversation where you get an answer, it sickens you because they just say they're sorry. And then they say they're gonna call you back and handle it, and they never do. You just laugh because you know they're never gonna call you back and they're not gonna handle it.
I wouldn’t recommend AHS to anybody because I wouldn't want somebody calling me up and saying that I recommended this company to them and it’s jerking them around. Or recommending them to a company where they’re on hold for an hour to an hour and a half. I work in four different states and we have hundreds of employees. It's a running joke of how their service is. They would tell us to use Choice. It's something you never use or you don’t know how they are. People try to do it without them and everybody’s saying that they would never renew their contract with them.
The last service I got was for my garage door and the experience wasn't bad. The company was great. There were no issues and the people were professional. Stilwell Plumbing and the plate people that came to look at my garage door last week were outstanding. The technician did a great job and I had no issues. I just renewed with AHS but there seems to always be a problem. The wait time, communication and problem-solving are major complaints. The last time I called, I said that I was on hold for 45 minutes. The rep said to me that I was lucky. They've had people on hold as long as two and a half hours. I asked if they were proud of that and why they were telling me that. The rep said that it was just being truthful with me. It's always the same excuse. It's getting cold out so it's picking up. Any good organization would hire more people at that time.

But it worked after the second guy left and it’s been working since. They showed me how to operate the sink so, they were okay. They were nice. I had to ask the first guy to put on the booties but he said he didn't have that. But he walked in his socks. The other guy who came the day before yesterday was well-masked and had his booties on.
My policy with American Home Shield is going up high so, I might be changing out. I started off paying up 500 but it's up to $800 and I don’t use it that often to justify that. If I got to pay them $800, then if I needed a new washer, I can go pay $800 for a washer. I have to make that decision because my daughter sells real estate as she refers people to other companies that do the same that AHS does, but they are paying 500. I’ve had the service for eight years and I'm not pleased that every year for the last three years, my air conditioner has been going down. It didn't go down this year, thank God. The contractor came and they had put everything on it to patch it up. A few people who got the services of AHS was given a new unit. But they put circuit boards, motors and condensers on my unit.

I had a claim with AHS for the air conditioning and another for the dryer. I went online and paid 75 bucks. Then, someone called me the next day. The guy that did the air conditioning was timely and he fixed it. And the dryer guy was awesome. He was on time, as well, and he called me when he was on his way. He wore his mask, he was great, and he fixed it. I had a great experience with both of them.
I got the one year home warranty as part of the purchase, like the perks, and I maintained it on my own. I continued it for two years after the initial year because it really is worth it for what I pay for the year to have things be covered. There were two repairs and I don't know how much it could have cost but it was just the $75 fee and both things were fixed. I tell people of AHS. It’s not that big of an expense.

There was a pipe in our basement that was dripping and it was staining the floor. It was a very slow leak. Filing the claim for it was super easy. I just went to the website, picked the area they need to work on and checked the box. It was a few steps and was really straightforward. Then I paid the fee at that point and the guy reached out to schedule it. He was great. He came in wearing a mask. He was a very polite guy.

Everything went well with the air conditioner and as usual, American Home Shield has performed appropriately. I've had them for a number of years and they’ve been good. I’ve used them more this year than any other years because more things went wrong this year for some reason. Two of my air conditioners broke and then I had a water main leak, and my garage door broke too. AHS came through with all of them. But they raised the premium quite a bit by a couple hundred dollars. So, when it came time to renew, I said that their competitors are offering it for hundreds of dollars less. They said that they would reduce it. They had to go through this whole process to price match. So, if I had not been a person who would question it, I would be paying hundreds of dollars more. Instead, I did my own research. I don't appreciate that they're raising my price arbitrarily to make more money but that’s business.

So far, it's been good with American Home Shield. We've kept American Home Shield for a lot of years. It's expensive. You gotta keep up with the service charge. But at the same time, if something major breaks, then it's worth it. Our recent claim with American Home Shield for our AC unit was fine. The contractor came out the next day, so it was really fast. But the other guy that came out for the microwave, that was a debacle. First of all, we had the original microwave when we moved in and we had problems with that. The door frame broke. He couldn't get the part, so we had to get a new microwave. We bought a new microwave.
This was the third time the new microwave was broken. There was an issue with the switch on the door the time before this. The guy came out and he looked at it. He said they need to order parts. On a Monday afternoon, they called and said that the parts were ready and they were gonna schedule the next day. But then, the next day, nobody showed up. At 5:30, we called and they said, “We're gonna be out there.” I asked, “Are you sure? It’s like 6 o'clock.” They said, "Yeah.” It was three days that we were sitting around waiting for somebody to show up. When the guy came out, he said, “Really sorry about that. The part came in, but they had to get me the part. I can't do anything till they give me the part and it’s on the truck.” I said, “That’s cool. I understand that.” But it was a lot of miscommunication on their part. I liked the guy that came out. He was cool and seemed confident.

The garbage disposal had an internal leak and I am no longer physically capable of crawling around underneath doing it. I have the skill set to fix it I but I don't have the strength or the ability to bend that way anymore. So, it was a delay in the amount of time but you get a plumber when you can get one. It was quick as far as that goes. He came out and looked at it, and he needed to replace it. He had one in his truck of a comparable power and size. He put it in, replaced it and everything was fine. He was a nice young man.
American Home Shield should lower the $75 fee but it’s a reasonable price. Sometimes, it's frustrating. We had an air conditioning issue which they said then was a plumbing issue. The contractor came back and it was not. There was a thing that we needed to replace. The air conditioner was gonna be the best solution. So, some things don't go to my favor, but some things do. We've had major issues with the house that American Home Shield doesn't deal with. The supply line to a toilet broke and flooded the entire first floor so we are dealing with the insurance and company on that part. Right now, we are living in a hotel. So, my next step is I gotta go and sign some papers on the people who are starting the renovations because they've ripped out all of the carpeting, taken out all the baseboards and some of the wall because the insulation got wet.
I recommend AHS when anybody talks about the idea of having a service. I have been satisfied. I get frustrated when things break but that's not their fault. They have been honorable and helpful. They have been a good company. I appreciate anybody who says, “This is what I do,” and then they follow up, and that's what they do. They have been consistent and they have a variety of different plans. So, the people are dealing with what they do. I picked the one that I thought was best for the things that we have and I am very positive about AHS as a company.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and thanks for recommending us. Enjoy your day.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield online has been pretty easy. Their reps are easy to get a hold of. For my recent claim, their contractor Sigmond Plumbing came and went above and beyond for me. The techs repaired what needed to be repaired but they also noticed that there was something that was eventually gonna go. They went ahead and repaired that too. I've had AHS for over three years now and their warranty is a great value. We had a different company when we were in Virginia and AHS has been more receptive. When we call them, they assign a contractor and the process is very quick. I'd recommend them to a relative.

Our washer was making an extraordinary loud noise. The appliance repair folks came out and it didn't take long, and they figured out that the issue was a bearing. It took a few days to get the part in. One man came out on a Saturday and replaced it. It was a big job, in my mind, for one person. When I talked to the technician, he said that normally, they would take it to the shop.
My wife said, "Gosh, if you can keep it in house, keep it here and repair it, we'd appreciate it." They accommodated us. It took an hour and a half to repair it and it works terrific. The tech was very professional. What I liked about this company is that the man that came out and diagnosed the problem didn't take long. He was obviously very experienced to figure out what it was and he is the one that came back to repair it. When he got to the bearing that needed to be replaced, he showed me what the issue was, and I could see clearly that a seal had leaked on the shaft and came down and destroyed the bearing and that was what was making the noise.
I like to learn and to watch to see how people do things. I watched him the whole time. He could have gotten it done quicker except I was asking him questions. He was very accommodating, very professional, and I was very appreciative, as my wife was, at the work that he had done so quickly and efficiently. He was a great representative. He was a mature man.

I had an ice maker claim and they fixed it. It was somebody local out of Lufkin, Advanced Appliance Repair. They were fabulous. American Home Shield also replaced the dishwasher for me which was great. They allowed me to put a little money into it and upgrade the dishwasher to what I wanted. We're not using American Home Shield right now because we moved into a brand new home but it was good. The reason you have American Home Shield is if your air conditioner goes out, the amount of money that you pay every month for the occasional appliance repair or small repair, you're gonna pay much more than you would pay to repair the appliance yourself. If you're in an older home that has an older air conditioner and if you have a big problem, that's what they're for. If you don't have that problem and you have small appliance repairs along the way, they're pretty good. They're very responsive and fast.
Thanks for your feedback. We love to hear when we have provided fast and provided fast and professional service. And we are always here if you need us.

The first time I had American Home Shield was about a year ago. I didn't renew right away and there were a few months of gap in there. I have it again now. We have a rental property and Laha's Appliance Repair was sent out to the property to help with a washing machine. They did that and that was great. And then here at our house, we've seen them more recently for several things. Our dishwasher, dryer, and washing machine had an issue at one point.
The interaction with technicians is generally good. What I find with Laha’s is they're not always able to get it the first time. It seems they tend to send very inexperienced people the first time who are in need of a follow-up because it wasn't satisfactorily resolved the first time. Their technicians are nice though. And when they send people who really know what they're doing, it's good. They get it done.
The dryer is the most recent claim we had. I was concerned about overheating on the dryer and it was specifically in one location. On the top, the back-right corner would get so hot to the touch. It would literally burn me. I discovered that by accident one day when I happened to touch that for some reason. That scared me because I thought a fire could happen.
Dealing with the person who answered the phone was good until this time where the rep sounded very defensive. It was the first time I detected a real defensiveness. I had to call back because the dryer was still running hot even after the tech had changed out a number of things. When one of the techs took the top off, I could see that was where a bunch of wires. When I mentioned to the rep it was just that corner primarily where the wires were that was running so hot, she said that was an electrical issue and that I should probably call an electrician. But it was in the machine. My electrician’s not gonna take the top off my washing machine.
The rep to me I needed to have the vents cleaned out so I've got somebody lined up to do that. I also cleaned them myself when the tech was here and saw a build-up of some lint. I used a tool and my vacuum cleaner and cleaned it really well. I checked to make sure there was airflow from the vents to the outside and there was good airflow. The tech checked it too. But I'm still having somebody come and do that because it needs to be done.
The dryer is still an open ticket at this point because the problem wasn't resolved. The vent person was supposed to have come yesterday or today, but a relative went into the hospital so he's gonna come next week instead. Once he comes, we'll see if it's still running hot. But I’m gonna be really frustrated if this dryer is still running hot and Laha’s just says to call an electrician. Overall, I'm okay with Laha's. They get the job done although not always the first go-around.
American Home Shield is doing the job too. With their claim process, it's not hard once I make contact. If I have to call on the phone, it can take up to an hour before they answer. I'm on hold and the recording says there's a high volume of calls. If I keep holding for 45 minutes or so, somebody will answer. Once they answer, it's okay. On the other hand, I can go online and make a request. That expedites things. It's just that I don't get the opportunity to necessarily explain what's going on unless it happens to fit one of their boxes. They ask what the problem is and give me a choice. If it's something else, I can say, “other” but I can't really explain what. That's a little frustrating. But somebody does call and follow up, so then I can tell them.

American Home Shield sent Fast Response for a service for the beginning of the winter. They were making sure everything was in working order with the heating system. American Home Shield said, “Get your system checked before you turn on your heater.” They sent an email saying that they do have companies that could look at the system to make sure that it's in good working order. I just put in the request online and then they sent an email telling me that Fast Response will be getting in contact with me.
Within 24 hours, Fast Response called, set up the meeting, and they were here within 72 hours after we set up the meeting. From the time I put in the request to the time Fast Response came was a total of five days, which wasn't a very bad turnaround because it was towards the end of the week. They were very professional. Before they came in, they made sure to put on booties to cover their feet. They made sure they kept their distance. They explained everything that they did and I have no complaints with them.

I'm a new first time homeowner on my own and I didn't realize that it's really important to have a home warranty. I'm very grateful that I have American Home Shield because when I talked to the girls there, they walked and talked me through a lot of things I didn't understand so I liked that part. With the first claim I had, the lady told me that I could do it online and she kind of walked me through there. The second one, for the garage, I called in and they walked me through everything. The people at American Home Shield have been really great ‘cause they're educating me on a lot of things that I'm not understanding.
Cactus Garage Doors came out recently and they did great. However, they said that the warranty only covers so much. I had to pay out of my pocket for some upgrades they said were not covered. Then there were some things I got charged for that I felt that shouldn't have been charged. I understand it's $75 a visit. The guy wanted 250. I needed to get the garage fixed ‘cause I got to get my car in and out for work. I told him that was a lot for me and I didn't expect to pay that amount that day. The wheels were pretty old and it was not opening nor closing. They should have covered that, but it wasn't. He offered 210 and I paid 285 for the whole thing.
I thought I would have probably paid almost the same amount if I didn't have American Home Shield. I felt that the coverage should be a little bit more than what they were telling us when they came out. Nevertheless, I'm trying to get my mom to sign up because I think it’s important for them to know this, so at least they pay $75 but it gives them the option.

We had some electrical issues that were causing light in our hallway and the lights in my son's room to just not function. I tried to call American Home Shield and there was an hour and a half wait so I pulled our policy information and logged in online and submitted a claim. The website was fairly easy to use and easy to work through. It was pretty straightforward. I just entered our policy information and gave a brief description as to the issues that we were having and it was simple enough. Then there was a really quick callback to schedule a time when the contractor would come out and perform that work for us.
Eric C’s Electric company came out and repaired that for us. The guy knew what he was doing. The only difficulty that we had was the lights in my son’s room went back out a day or two after they left, so they were no longer functioning again. We had to go back through the process of having someone come back out and make that repair or look back into what may be the issue there. They fixed that connection and everything have been fine ever since. My son's room is far away from our AC unit and so without having a ceiling fan in there during the summer, it can get a little bit warm. Just having that fan becomes operational again helped the circulation of the air and kept it cool in that side of our home during the summer after moving from North Carolina to Charleston.

My kitchen drain was clogged. Third Generation Plumbing came out. It was pre-arranged as a second opinion because the initial company sent somebody out who was totally incompetent. So, American Home Shield allowed me to get a second opinion. The guy who came out had been a plumber for 30 years. He took care of it in no time.
Drain Go is the one that American Home Shield usually uses in my area, and they're absolutely atrocious. Third Generation's guy took care of the problem. He couldn’t even understand why the other guy had a problem. Everything's been working fine since Third Generation came. If I have any more plumbing problems, Third Generation is fine with me, but I will not allow Drain Go in my house.
With the whole experience, I had to do without a kitchen sink to drain properly for 10 days. I had to get different people out, it took four days to get the first group of people out, and then I had to wait till they submitted their quotes report. American Home Shield authorized the second people to come out. Finally, by the time they came out, the problem was taken care of.
Plumbing had been a major issue. Drain Go had been out for three different problems. The first one, I got kinda scammed on because they made me pay $75 for two different visits. But I told them right off the bat that both of my hot water heaters were leaking and they only fixed one, and then when they came out again, I got charged again. The second time they came out, it was a shower valve, and it took four trips to get it corrected. The guy finally had to bring his boss with him. And between the guy and his boss, they finally got the issue straightened out, which I think he put the cartridge in backwards the first time. It was a very negative experience regarding plumbing.
Hi Mark,

I had the wrong lightbulb when I put the ceiling fan in. It was a non-dimmable bulb. I had a non-dimmable bulb in a dimmable light switch. Elite Electric Solutions came out, and I paid $100 for the light bulb. It's very easy to put in a claim to American Home Shield. The only issue I have with them is that most people work Mondays through Fridays. Due to the pandemic, I'm working from home. But before, I was working 43 miles from our home. So, having a 12 noon to three o'clock in the afternoon time slot window is not conducive. I would ask for them to have contractors that had weekend hours, and they don't do it that way. There's no way for them to filter that.
Having a three to four-hour window doesn't work when you have to have multiple visits. There's no way to say, "Okay, I've got five electric companies. These two work on Saturday, and she prefers to have a Saturday visit." They just do whoever comes first. Then if you refuse a company, they make that company not available to you in the future. For major appliances, they need to know in layman's terms exactly what that does and does not cover because I've been in my home four years now. I had to have the AC and furnace system completely replaced. I had $6,000 that I had to pay out of pocket to replace it, where American Home Shield only covered like 1,200 of it.

Our Realtor uses Home Shield on her own house. My parents use Home Shield on their own house as well. So, Home Shield came very highly recommended. It's very difficult if you try and submit claims over the phone, but very easy if you do it online. The first few times, we did it on the phone and we were on it for four hours. We would just call, plug in our phone, let it ring, and have it on speaker until we heard a voice. But when we did it online through their portal, everything is so fast, easy, and smooth. We just didn't know that tidbit at the beginning that we could do it that way. If we hadn't figured out the online ticket thing, that would have been the struggle for us. I've got two kids under three. It's not always easy to just sit there and be on the phone forever. But having the online option has been great.
We had a previous plumber through American Home Shield who gave us a window, but would always come on the later outside end of that. I could never get ahold of them when I was calling to say, "Oh, I have this come up. Can we adjust?" Or it wasn't fixed when he left. When we submitted online, we had the option to pick a different company. That's why we picked The Lindsay Company for the leaky faucet, and they were phenomenal. I submitted the ticket, and then they called back and said, "Hey, we have the tech out your way. He could be there in half an hour." It was within an hour of me submitting a ticket, but he was actually in my house.
It was a weird type of leaky faucet, where it doesn't leak when the faucet is running. It was a bit more complex. I appreciated the thoroughness. The tech ended up changing out the whole faucet and we haven't had a problem. He completely fixed the problem instead of just band-aiding it. I thought it was odd that we had a horrible experience with the first plumber which is American Home Shield's recommended plumber, whereas one of their other options, Lindsay Company, was far superior. I'm a little confused why. In recommending Home Shield to a friend, I would have to be like, "They're great, but make sure you do your research on the companies because sometimes their preferred vendor isn't actually the best one that you can use for the service."

They said that they had informed American Home Shield of this, but the system continues to book or they don't check to make sure that that plumber can service a building greater than four or five storeys. So it pushed the whole process back about a day. But the plumber that came out was great. He handled everything and I didn't have any issues. I can use my toilet now. My garbage disposal died. I looked at the little video that American Home Shield provided and went in and attempted to see if I could fix it myself but none of the remedies that they showed worked. So, I got online and requested an appointment. Literally, within minutes, got a call from the guy that was assigned to come to fix it. The next day, he was here right when he said he would be, put a brand new one in 'cause mine was hopeless and went merrily on his way happy as could be. Since then, the garbage disposal has been amazing. It hums, it doesn't scream and jump up and down. So much better. American Home Shield has a very easy process and I recommend anybody that is concerned about their plumbing, their electricity, or their appliances to invest that little bit of money so that they have peace of mind and can get things done quickly when they need them.

I called Home Shield and told the rep what I needed. I couldn't hang up the phone fast enough. I was done on the phone and they called the house phone. I haven't finished doing my order. I had just put in my credit card number, and here they come calling already. That was on a Sunday. They said, “We'll have somebody out tomorrow,” which was Monday.
The tech from Hopwood Electric came in there and went right to work. He came in masked up. He took the things apart, and then fixed everything. And he said, “Well, initially, it was never hooked up correctly to begin with.” That was music to my ears. I was so happy to hear that because I thought that I was just stupid. I just don't know how to work the darn thing. But he was like I was the student and he was the teacher. He showed me and taught me so I know how to work it. I truly appreciated him because he was younger and he had the patience. Also, it only took him 15 minutes. The most time it took him was to tell everybody that he arrived at my house. And then when he left, he had to tell everybody he was finished. If I ever have to call an electrician, it would be them. I was so happy and satisfied. I’m never getting rid of Home Shield. I was just talking to them about doing another property with them. I am happy with the service that I get.

Stellar Plumbing came out recently and fixed the garbage disposal quickly. Everything went well and they did a good job. The only thing is that when I call to talk about an issue, it’s difficult to find somebody that I can speak to without a language barrier. Also, when I call and try to get clarification on an issue or find a different type of solution, I usually have an issue with some of the language barrier with the folks I’m talking to on the phone.

We had a freezer and ice maker problem. I went to the Home Shield site. I had to look for appliance, and then fridge. Then there was also a difference between the fridge and the freezer, something with icemakers, and it was a $75 fee. We got an email that said they sent out a request to somebody, that we should hear from them in a few days. We heard back after the weekend from the actual contractor to schedule a time. He came out and fixed it all in one session. It was pretty smooth and straightforward. He said everything was covered by the insurance so there was no bill. The fridge has been working ever since. It was an issue where we had to leave it powered off for 24 hours, so we had to move everything out in coolers. We've been pretty happy. We use Home Shield on most of our stuff here as well.

Whenever I call American Home Shield, the problem is always resolved. I don't have to keep calling back. I really love the service. It's valuable service for me especially because I own my home and anytime I have a problem, I can always call and they always send someone out. Putting in claims is straightforward and easy. I always call and the automated system will tell me I'll have a 10-minute wait but it's never that long. It's three minutes or four minutes but I guess they just prepare me in case I do have a 10-minute wait. It's always a quick phone call. I don't have to sit on the phone all day. They provide pretty fast solution.
Recently, Myers Comfort Specialist came out and they did well. I had to have them come out twice because when the first guy came out, he said it was a wire that was burning through the compressor. But that night, it went out so I called back to American Home Shield and they sent someone out the next day. Both services were prompt and the technicians were really friendly and thorough. They explained everything well. They did as much as they could do and being as fast as they could be.

We had a broken hot water heater that needed to be replaced. I called the number of AHS and had a claim number assigned, and then they said that it would then be dispatched to a local contractor, which it was. The initial contractor was there to verify the job. He didn't do any work except install a bypass on it. Then, I had to reschedule the actual replacement of the water heater.
The only thing was I wasn't asked or prompted when I made the initial call on Saturday if the job or if the work was to be expedited. It was just, “Okay. You've got a hot water heater out. Here's your claim number. We'll address it.” Then, when I called back to find out why I hadn't heard back from anyone, the gentleman said, “You didn't submit it as expedited.” I said, “I was never asked to classify the level of urgency on the fix.” I said, “I didn't submit anything, you did." Because all I did was make the phone call and open the claim.

I have been an American Home Shield member for years. In the past I have had a good experience, but it has change, and for the worse. I put an order in for a dryer repair on Aug 10, 2020. A contractor was assigned and came out, diagnosed the problem. In the past, the contractor would order the part it would arrive in 5 days and be installed. I was informed AHS had changed it policy and they had to order the part, not the contractor. The part was finally ordered on the 27th of August (17 days after the work order), and I was told it would arrive in 10 business days. We were then told on Sept 18th (5 weeks & 4 days after the work order) that it was on delay.
Here we are on October 1st, 51 days after the original work order, still without a dryer to use, and still no part has arrived. I have called the contractor and they have said "We have not received the part from AHS." To expect anyone to go nearly 2 months without a major appliance with no recourse, no refunds, no further updates is poor poor business customer service. If you try to call AHS to discuss, you wait on call for literally hours and hours to try and get through.

I have been a customer of AHS for over 10 years. In the last five years they have increasingly gotten worse and worse. We had six properties with them and we are beginning to take all the properties to a new company. We have had many issues with them in the past, but as I write this review I have currently been on hold for over 2 hours. Unexplainable and unacceptable. They just hope you go away if you have a problem.
We are having a plumbing issue at our house, we called AHS and thought it was fixed. Then it happen again the next week, then the week after that. We said to AHS, "We may have a bigger problem. Can you approve a camera to go into our pipes to find the problem?" They replied no. But they did flag our account stating too many service call and that any service to our property would need to be approved, well if you work with them you know that’s a 2 hour wait, so the contractors don’t want to do it. They don’t want to bother. Therefore nothing has gotten done. This is my second time this week that I’ve asked to speak to a supervisor and have been blown off. Worst company I have ever worked with. Customer service is terrible, customer experience is terrible. When I see 5 star reviews I know they are fake, because there is no one they are treating you as well as you're claiming.

Our recent claim with AHS was for the air conditioner that wouldn't work. This claim went through really well and I was very happy with the contractors. I talked to Carrier and they knew the contractors. They said they're very nice people, I will be happy.
When the contractor got here, he called me 30 minutes ahead of time, said, "I'm gonna be there early today. Can I come?" I said yes. He got here, introduced himself and said, "Show me where the air conditioner thing is and what happened." He went right to work and got it running. He went outside and inspected the outside. He said everything was good to go. He was professional and right on hand. I was very happy with this company. I was happy this time with AHS's response. The last time on the microwave, that was one big fiasco I hope I never have with American Home Shield. I have had American Home Shield for over 21 years here. I moved here from Galveston County. I called in because I had a problem with my garage door. But when the guy came, he said that he wanted to put a new one, the rail, the this and that. I said okay and asked if he knew my insurance. He told me that my insurance doesn't pay anything because what I have is a very low one. Since I have it, I only used it one time. I remember they noted the last time when I called for the same thing, the guy probably knew some wires, and tie it, put a tape, and that’s it. Now, the guy that came in knew that the one who came before did a back job because they were supposed to do things and I didn't know.
To me, I didn't like that company after that. They said I have to do it because I already called them and I paid $100. Then they gave me an invoice. They said they did this one and this one and then the next day they didn't. Two days later, the company called me and said they would collect the money. I asked, “For what?” The guy came back and was supposed to give me an estimate, not invoice. For the moment, I didn’t know what he had done. I told him I’m not gonna pay him until he finishes the job. The guy didn't do anything.
They offered me to do everything. Then they said they would call me back. Then they called me back with another person. They called me from San Francisco. They called me from Sacramento. They called me from somewhere when they wanted to collect the money. Then when they finished the job, they called me from San Jose. Then something happened and I asked who do I need to call. They told me that's the same. I could call any agency. They knew that I've done it only because I don't want to leave my car outside. I did it right away and paid 2,050.

But this particular repair went beautifully. We do not call on every little thing and We put in as few service calls as possible when it needs help. It was a little upsetting when the service fee went up, considering what we were paying. My yearly fee went up as well. I'm having some sink issues with my kitchen sink and it still hasn't been resolved. My complaint's with the home warranty service themselves. They sent out K & S and the guy did what he could. He told them that the sink needed to be hydro jetted. For about a week after that, American Home Shield said that they couldn't find anybody that does that in our area. I asked if I could find somebody myself and have that company do it then they would just reimburse me and they said no. I have a newborn and he made two weeks yesterday. I kinda need my kitchen sink.
When they found somebody, first off, the people that they picked have horrible reviews and they just sent some run-of-the-mill guy. They didn't send the company. They didn't give me any of his insurance information or his LLC number or anything like that which I didn't like. This is a house I forked out almost $200,000 for and I don't just anybody working on my stuff. He came, he hydro jetted it and did what he could, but still he didn't fix the problem. Now, I've reached out to a plumber myself that has good reviews and gave me his insurance number and his LLC number and we're gonna go about it that way.
The claims process was simple. It was just the fact of getting somebody else sent out to resolve the problem and argue with Home Shield and 98% of operators that I got on the phone with had attitudes with me. Maybe I were able to choose a vendor from a drop-down menu or request that certain people don't service our home, it's something that would benefit Home Shield 'cause I know most homeowners don't want some Joe Schmoe showing up to their house to do their work.

I have friends that have had major problems with American Home Shield when they submitted claims where the people don’t show up. But it’s simple when you don’t have problems. I’ve been lucky. The contractor came within two days of the phone call. The freezer wasn't working and Magic Appliance came on time and fixed it quickly. They were fantastic. People should be aware of everything the policy covers and doesn't cover and consider the age of what they're protecting. Because if something old breaks, there's just a buyout and there's a limit to how much AHS will pay. If an old appliance can't be fixed, they're not going to get enough to replace it with something brand new. If it's a plumbing pipe like my girlfriend just had, it was just a buyout. It cost her $2400 but American Home Shield only paid 1000 towards it.
I've had 99% good and 1% bad from AHS. My son just called and he could only get a 2-star plumber to fix his issue. AHS should have the highest rated appliance and service technicians. And once they send out an appliance person and then the appliance person couldn't fix the appliance, they turned it over to somebody else without notifying me that this company couldn't do it and another company was going to be replaced with it. Now, another company is coming without me even knowing why and I'm thinking they made a mistake and they're double sending somebody. So that needs more personalized explanations of what's going on.

We had a condenser went out completely, so they replaced that. Then we had to pay for the Freon, which was $550. But they didn't fix the second unit. It was already acting up slightly and was making noise when they first came.
On the second day, the second unit went out because it couldn't do the whole house. So I called American Home Shield. I tried to explain to the girl that the second unit was out and asked her to add that on to our claim. But she said that the claim was only for the one. I insisted that I actually put two and nobody serviced the second one. So she went back and saw that I chose the EVAC on the original computer thing, and then she called the Total Air. She asked whoever she spoke with in regards to the second unit. 'Cause the second unit can't compensate for the whole first unit and second unit, thus, probably it was overwhelmed was what we were told. Then she said that they would fix the second unit when the technician would come out which he did. The AC units are fine now. The technician was 110% amazing and he was just so polite.
The service from American Home Shield is fabulous. We were with them for two years and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. The contractors that they sent out were amazing. American Home Shield had done exactly what I hired them to do. It costs me $100 co-pay every time I ask them to fix something. And when your washing machine is shot, that's a lot better than 500. But the first time I used it, I had a bad experience, aside from the fact that I had my pool equipment added and I had a pool light that went out. One time, the spa level kept dropping while the pump was off ever so slightly, but over a bunch of hours, it could be a couple of inches. The tech came out and replaced the valves. The next day, I told him it was still doing it. The tech said that it must be something else and that they were only responsible for above-ground. It was disheartening and I was like, “Wow. So I’m stuck?" He said, “Yeah, pretty much.” But luckily, it was a fluke because it works fine now but the tech could have had a little better bedside manner.
As for the pool light, someone came all the way and said that they don’t do them. It ended up costing me 400 bucks because he replaced the light. I should have just done it myself. When I called back, I was told that it’s in the contract. And I was like, “Yeah, that thing that nobody reads.” This time was much better though. I tried to make sure I was very specific because I figured that it didn’t say pool light but it said electrical. They want us to do everything over the website and not actually talk to somebody. That would have saved me big had I just had somebody tell that they don’t cover pool lights. But overall, I’m satisfied with Home Shield since I got my issue fixed.

He checked out the garbage disposal. He very easily found the problem and solved it. He changed the garbage disposal and also changed the P-trap and some plumbing parts. He knew his job very well and he was very good at it. I’m quite satisfied. The second thing he did work on was in the second bathroom as there was a leak in the sink. Master Tech was very nice and I’m quite happy with them. They did a much better job than the other company that came before for the air conditioning. When I had the air conditioner problem, nobody called me on for feedback.

I recently submitted a claim with Home Shield for a leaking faucet and it was easy. The contractor set up the appointment earlier than supposed to, so that was good. And then, I had a good interaction with tech. He came in timely. He was professional, and he got through with everything real quick. The unit runs good. Using Home Shield has been easy. Also, it has been beneficial. It saved me a lot of money.

Majestic Custom came out to check the air conditioner. It wasn't really cooling the house down. It would take eight hours for it to cool the house from 80 degrees down to 72, and it was set at 68. We called the number on the policy and I spoke to someone at American Home Shield. They were pretty prompt at getting someone scheduled out here. It was timely. Majestic Custom was fine. The tech was very good at communicating what the procedures he went through, and it looked very thorough. The only thing is I continue to be concerned that the air conditioner doesn't cool well enough because they didn't find anything wrong with it. We won't know until next summer whether there's an issue.

The AC is doing what it’s supposed to do now. American Home Shield is doing what they're supposed to do and I appreciate that.

The air conditioning unit was not blowing. I called the 1-800 number for American Home Shield and did a claim. Central Heating & Air Conditioning came out. The tech was great, very professional and knew his job. He knew exactly what to do. He was not here more than 25 minutes, and he got it up and running. The air conditioning is working fine but the heat, all of a sudden, stopped working now. I was thinking about calling AHS back because it seemed like the heat is still not blowing the way it's supposed to. Yesterday was the first time I put the heat on since the tech came out and fixed the unit. I didn't have to put it on because it was hot. American Home Shield has been easy to deal. They're straightforward in terms of the process, getting someone out and assigning a claim quickly. I hope that as they continue to grow, that doesn't change because sometimes businesses grow and they become harder to do business with. Things become complicated. But so far, things have been going really well in terms of being able to use them and getting stuff done. We had some lights in the house that weren't coming on. I made two service requests on the same day and the appliance claim was completed. The burner on the range was not working, so the tech ordered the new part and then replaced it. He was really professional and friendly. The range is working fine. But for the other claim, I didn’t get any update from the plumber regarding the parts, what he has ordered, and when he’s going to come and place that. I have sent a reminder yesterday to find out where they are standing. I got a reply saying that they are still waiting on the parts. It takes longer times to reach the customer care because of the pandemic situation. So I realized instead of calling them, if I can make a request online, the response would be quicker. So everything is fine. I’m getting good response from AHS.

The very first time I submitted a claim, the contractor came within only three or four days. They were pretty quick. American Home Shield sent an independent contractor first, and when he got here, he discovered that Sears had a warranty on the refrigerator. So, he suggested that maybe AHS would transfer it to Sears. I got on their website and resubmitted it and mentioned the warranty. Nothing happened for several days and, of course, we were without a refrigerator. We have an extra one, but we had crammed everything in there. We were eager to get something done. When I filed that extra claim, AHS sent it to Sears. He came out just like the other contractor and said, “Yeah, it’s under warranty, but I don't have the parts to fix it. So we'll have to reschedule.” It just took a while. There was a little miscommunication. But it ended up just fine.

I had American Home Shield almost all my life. I moved back to New Orleans in 2018 and my son did my house for me and put the home warranty coverage on with Choice. However, everything I called them for if I had a problem, they were telling me it wasn't covered. I didn't like Choice and decided to go with American Home Shield. It's first time I had to use American Home Shield. I could have filled the claim out online but what happened was I had two issues going on with my stove and they're only allowed for one issue. It didn't give me what I needed online to tell them about everything that was going on with the stove that's why I called. The next day, someone called me from Sears to schedule the appointment. Everything was pretty much in order.
I had a little longer wait for the parts to come in because of COVID but other than that, the service was on time, professional and courteous, and I haven't had any problems since. I wouldn’t recommend anybody but American Home Shield. Since I had it last, I'm paying more now but prices go up. I'm also paying much more than what I was paying Choice but I feel more comfortable with American Home Shield.

I kept calling and they said the part was in backorder. Then finally, the part came in. The technician came and install it. He did a good job but it was very slow getting the parts. I've had to submit two claims with Home Shield. One time, it took me 45 minutes sitting on the phone waiting to get them. It took a while. On my first claim, I had a hot water heater go out. I had to pay what wasn't covered on the water heater. There was a $75 service charge, and then a $400 fee. After everything has already been said and done, I got a letter in the mail saying that they would not pay some of that. I called them. I didn't fully understand. They really shouldn't have sent the letter because it has already been taken care of. But it was a bit more confusing. They could have made that part a bit easier by telling their part would not be paid or whatever, instead of just sending a letter saying they would not pay this. That was irritating.
Recently, Epic Air Heating and Cooling was able to repair the unit but they were supposed to come back out. I had a piece of flex pipe that had fallen and I didn't know it. Once it was received, then I got an update that it was being assigned to Morningstar and that they would be reaching out. Morningstar was fantastic. They were very quick and worked with me on calling or texting me when the tech was gonna be on his way. He gave me the timeframe. That way, I could just leave my office and meet him at the house.
Since the repair, our dishes are really clean now. It helps when the dishwasher can heat up and do what it needs to do. The tech really spent the time to look through it, what the problem was, kinda let me know after the fact and what he replaced. The only thing is my husband noticed that there was an oil spot in our driveway. It would be recommended that the contractors not park in a customer's driveway for that reason.
Everything's been going great with American Home Shield. I've had two claims with them in the last couple months. One was with the garbage disposal because my son put a rock in there apparently. He was working in a different county, so he gave me the phone number. I was able to call the contractor. He got me in two days later. The contractor seemed polite and professional. He was clean too. I had a fridge repaired and GE Appliances was sent out. The support team in Atlanta was on top of everything every time I called. Vic did really well. I had to make several calls to see when these parts were coming in because they delivered the parts to me and not to the repairman, which was kind of weird. Other than that, it was really good and the claim is done.
The door and icemaker were broken and it was basically one problem. I took the top off and tried to get ice and water out of the dispenser and nothing would come out. The icemaker was barely making any ice. To be safe, American Home Shield ordered a new icemaker, but the main problem was that the line feeding the icemaker and water dispenser that goes through the freezer door was frozen and filled with garbage because there was discoloration coming out sometimes. The tech popped that door off and put a new icemaker in. It was done two weeks ago.
I have an air conditioning claim that was such a problem and American Home Shield should have been worried about it because there were major issues. I am not happy about that. That is an absolute nightmare and I was very disappointed. I have my cool now but I didn’t when I talked to whoever the poor guy was a few weeks ago. I feel horrible about it because I know it wasn't his fault that my air conditioning unit was broken. What happened was I came back from vacation several weeks ago, Labor Day, and my AC was not working. It had tripped the breaker. A contractor came three days later and that was on a weekend. They fixed the AC by putting in something.
That only worked for a couple of days before it tripped the breaker and turned the thing off again. The contractor came back and did a reset. All that meant was they turned the breaker all the way off then back on and turned the AC unit outside off then back on. It came back on. But that was just putting a Band-Aid on it and not fixing it. I was told that was all the contractor could do. The AC went out again a few days later after that. The contractor had to come back and they said that the motor was possibly the problem because it might have been draining too much power than it could handle.
They started replacing the motor. On two different occasions after that, they broke something there while trying to fix on the motor. They had brackets that they had to order at one time but because they bent the fan blade on the old ones, they needed to order new fan blades. There was a total of five to six trips to have the contractor out here to fix the unit. My AC is fixed but that's about a month later now. It has been running for two weeks but it's no longer 100 degrees here anymore, which was what it was when the contractor was trying to fix it.
I know things happen when you're trying to fix something like that and I understand that. But the problem I had with it was it seemed like it was not a big deal for me to just not have AC in Birmingham, Alabama with 100-degree heat outside for two weeks. I got very angry because that should be fixed. I get that American Home Shield doesn't wanna have to replace the system if they don't have to as it's a business. But at that point, the unit should have just been replaced. It wasn't the inside unit, which is probably more expensive. Replacing the outside unit would have been a fix-all quick.
And like with the fridge, spit and glue will fix it and that's fine. It was not that big of a deal. I can find another one for 900 bucks and put it in. But the reason why people get home warranties is because those things, like the AC, are really expensive. If it breaks in that first year, you kinda won the lottery. But as soon as I get it, it seemed like American Home Shield didn't wanna do it. I had to suffer for two and a half weeks not having air conditioning and I was very angry. I yelled at the guy who was taking my call because of that.
I'm 42 and I'm decently successful. But living with your parents for a few weeks made me in and out when the AC wasn't working. To American Home Shield I was even like, "Why don't you guys put me in a hotel or something? Because this is absolutely ridiculous." I know that request sounded ridiculous but to someone who lives closer to the equator and Birmingham, Alabama, it's not. The day before I came back from my Nashville beach trip, it was just blazing hot in here.

The claims process was challenging with AHS and I sort of ended up resorting to looking on Twitter because I wasn't getting a response. Initially, I saw that there was no phone number listed on the webpage to contact a human. So the only option was to use the online form for claims, which, in theory, should work. But if it doesn't and there's not a way to contact a person to troubleshoot that, then it means that things are just going to take a really long time to happen and the customer gets frustrated.
Now I signed up for American Home Shield because I had seen a similar pattern with my other home warranty company. And I noticed that with both of them, I needed to figure out what's the backdoor. But I'm concerned as to why would a customer have to rely on looking for a backdoor to get communication through. At the time, I was having a mini-split malfunction and at first, the techs called for an appointment. Then, I told them what the issue was and they said they don't work on mini-splits. They also said that they had told American Home Shield what their area of emphasis was in their contract and that they would contact American Home Shield to let them know to send somebody else.
But I didn't hear from American Home Shield for some days, so I contacted the contractor and asked them to contact AHS since I can't get ahold of a human there. They said they already did it a week ago, so by this time, I wasn't able to troubleshoot what looked like communication breakdown and the truth is, I know how to get exceptional service. I've given it because I've been in many industries where you need to give exceptional service and I've been a consumer where I know how to get it. So, I contacted the person that sold us the policy and said that I was having a really hard time getting hold of someone to schedule the right technician. I told him that I needed some exceptional care because I was not getting through.
In the end, the results of my claim were awesome but the issue was not that I didn't get what I needed, my concern was that my neighbor might not get what they need because they don't know how to play that card. The world needs to change if we're going to be neighbors with each other. And this was just about an air conditioning thing, but at the same time, it was not. It was 100 degrees here and I'm a young-ish healthy person in the time of pandemic. But there are other people around me that aren't. What happens if someone else can't get through because they don't know what card to play and their air conditioner is broken?

We bought this house in April and we had a friend of ours come out and check out the heat and air unit because I completely forgot that we paid for the American Home Shield warranty. They told us that we needed an entire new heating unit. So, we processed the claim to have that checked out. The guys that AHS sent out took everything apart and checked it and there was nothing wrong with it. So, it ended very well. The technician was wonderful. We happened to all be home because we just had a baby so, we walked outside to talk to him. He had on his mask and he was extremely respectful and polite. He offered to take his shoes off when he came inside. It was awesome.
We were checking on the heat part of the unit. We're in Georgia and it hasn't gotten cold enough yet to turn the heat all the way on so we haven't gotten to completely check it. But the day that he came out, he let it run for 30 minutes. It was in the 80s. So, he said that if anything was going to happen, it would have happened within that time because the heat unit's gonna overheat easily. So, it is doing good. It was a great interaction with American Home Shield but on the website, we had the opportunity to choose to have the ductwork looked at as well. Once the contractor got out, we found out that it was not something that they cover. We were under the impression that we were gonna be able to get that fixed as well within the warranty but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. American Home Shield said they were gonna send another company out but they never called and never showed up. I called them and they said they would get in touch with somebody else but they didn't. For three days, we went without heat. Luckily, my son had an electric heater and we carried it from room to room. Thankfully too, none of our pipes burst. In the end, we had another company that we called to come out and they got the furnace fixed because it was way below zero.
When our water heater went out, we bought a new one and American Home Shield reimbursed us for it. But we had to get somebody to come out ourselves and put in a new water heater. This was years ago in our home and it worked out great. But when it went out again, I called and nobody ever showed up. My husband just went out and bought a hot water heater. He worked for a plumbing company and he had that plumbing company come in and pick it up.
We also had a claim where D&D Appliance Repair came out and they were good. They followed through with their timeline. The tech explained everything that he was doing. When he had to order parts, he told me exactly when he was coming back and he was here before the said time, which was great. Also, he wore a mask.

I definitely will use that same company again if anything else happens with the refrigerators.

I researched the available organizations and American Home Shield seemed to be the one that met the most criteria. As anything, they'll have complaints against them in the research I found but it is what it is. It is insurance, so you may use it or you may not. The sales rep was very thorough with me and answered all of my questions. So, she did a good job with that because I was originally not completely sold on the type of product. But she did an awesome job. When we purchased the place, we had a simple lock change and G M Greco came out, and it was fine.

It took almost a week and a half to get the first group out for my AC. They just serviced it and they left and it broke that night. Then I called and they came out and the issue was a plug. When the hurricane came, the motor decided to let go. It quit. I waited another couple of days and they finally got back out here and changed the motor in it. So it was almost a three-week ordeal that I was out of an AC, and it’s hot in Pensacola. But right now, everything's working great.
Home Shield has been great to me. They've been very helpful. I've had to use them twice. One for my range and the other one for my AC. Home Shield has scheduled people but sometimes it takes a little while to get someone out here. But other than that, everything’s great with them. I'm happy. I've already turned other people on to them. They asked me and I said, “Yeah, this is what I got.”

I called AHS to come out and fix my air conditioning. The young man tells me because of the work that I need, they don't cover all of it. It's understandable that certain parts they didn't cover and I know my unit is quite old. So I go ahead and purchase a complete unit for my home with a furnace. Then I get a letter nine days later from AHS telling me they don’t cover it. From the consumer’s point of view, that throws you off a little bit. The service contractors assured me they will service and take care of it and the first year of labor is free. So they comfort me a little bit but I was feeling a little alarmed with American Home Shield. But other than that, I’d recommend them. I've been with AHS for 23 years and I love them. I tell all my friends to use them ‘cause they're awesome and when you got an older home you need a coverage like AHS.

My garage door opener wouldn't open. I tried to call it in and American Home Shield said that I needed to do it through the website. So I didn't really get an option. So I did it online and the process was easy. It was only a matter of minutes before I got a call from the garage door company. There was an older gentleman and a younger guy. The older guy took pictures of the garage door opener and the other stuff that was attached to it. The younger gentleman was busy getting materials.
The biggest problem for me was this happened on a Friday and I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and there was no way for me to tell American Home Shield. When the garage door people called, she said they could come on Monday afternoon between 12:00 and 5:00. I asked her if there was anything earlier and she said no. So I had to cancel that doctor's appointment and reschedule it. But it was not their fault.
After the technicians took all the pictures, one of them asked me if I was aware that our warranty company doesn't cover the springs and cables. He told me that they consider that part of the door. How could they consider that part of the door? You can have a garage door that you open by yourself and it doesn't have those springs and cables. But I had to get it fixed. I couldn't get the car out of the garage. I also get allergy shots Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week. I was missing that, so I needed to be able to go on Tuesday. I asked him how much it was gonna cost. He told me I've already paid American Home Shield the $100, so it would be an additional $250. I don't have disability coverage. All I have is Social Security so that's a lot of money. But I had them do it because I didn't have a choice. It had to get done.
It only took them a few minutes to do the job. He checked the light bulb and he said they lubricated everything. He took the light bulbs in the opener, and he said they were LED light bulbs and they were not good to use in the garage door opener. Apparently, they interfere with the remote. I have had trouble at times getting that to open and close. I've had to really mess with it sometimes. So that made sense. He asked me if I had any regular bulbs and he replaced those. They were very good. They did what they were supposed to do and more. They were very kind, very professional and very pleasant. But American Home Shield lied to me when they sold me the warranty. They told me that they were not like other warranty companies and that when something broke down, they covered every part of it and not just little parts of it. But that wasn't true.

Filing a claim is not difficult by itself but American Home Shield gets to choose who the vendor is when you get the service. If I choose a vendor that they don't recognize and doesn't deal with them, then I have to pay for it myself. My initial understanding was that if I call the vendor to do a service, American Home Shield would cover it. But that's not the case. I didn't fully understand. The furnace was not taken care of and I got surprised by it. The only thing that American Home Shield has covered is rekeying and they did well on it. The technician was fine.
What I was told was if I have any problems, I could just have them taken care of and American Home Shield would cover it. It's true if you let them pick the vendor. However, I did a little investigating and what they tend to do from what I could gather is they don't hire necessarily the best people around. They hire the cheapest. They need to make clear when the policy is sold that you don't have a choice on the vendor that comes out. Otherwise, I would have had some real reservation about it.

We used it once so we went ahead and got it again this year. It's only 500 or 600 for the whole year. If something big breaks, it's worth it. If something big doesn't break, it's not that much money. The service rate is a little high though.

American Home Shield takes a weight off your shoulders knowing that issues will be handled. Not always quickly, but at least as inexpensively as they probably could be. I've only been with them for a year or two and they've fixed my stove, my dryer, my washing machine and my AC. I've also gotten a new water heater.
I'm a little more concerned about the current claim because it's a much more expensive issue. The contractor came to fix my air conditioning. They did tell me what they thought it was. He did fix what he thought he could but he said at the time, “If this doesn't work, let us know and we'll come back out.” They also did tell me that there may be some things that I'll be charged for but to my understanding I'm not supposed to be charged for. Their fix didn't work so they were out again yesterday but it’s not been taken care of yet. It was confusing with this one because I didn't know whether or not to submit again. When I called about that, the person that I spoke with was very difficult to understand.

With the phone, when you call, you have to enter in your American Home Shield contract number then you have to go through all the prompts. With the website, our passwords are saved on our computer. We just open it up and it's quick. It says submit a claim, you check what you want and you move through it. It's so time efficient. Typically, they will tell you the claim has been assigned and who it's been assigned to and that you can expect a call within 24 to 48 hours. But they give you the number and if you want to call, you can call.
I'm thoroughly impressed with SWAT Plumbing. They sent a text when the contractor was on the way. He gave his name, how long he's been in the business, his phone number and his personal hobbies. The initial tech didn't do a good job installing and another AHS contractor, Total Air Care, had to come out and redo things. The tech from Total Air did a good job. More recently, my AC stopped cooling. The tech American Home Shield sent from Total Air Care was really professional. It didn't take him long to fix my AC. The technician's work is great. The only thing is that sometimes the appearance of the companies that they send out can be somewhat concerning. If working for a company, you would think somebody would want their attire to be more professional-looking. Then the people come in and they got a shirt that looks wrinkled, faded. How employees look is also a reflection of that individual company. I had some individuals come that AHS hired. Of course, they did the quality work, but still, their appearance. When dealing with other companies, they come and look more appropriate as far as their work attire. So it makes me wonder if these companies with American Home Shield are 3, 4, or 5-star ones or are these just companies that are with them just to get business.
With the latest plumbing claim, I was having an issue with the toilet flushing, and of course, it's in a bathroom. The guy from Action Plumbing ran a little plunger down there and he got it to flush. But I still think I have the same problem I had because, in reality, I know the toilet and the shower all use the same line. I didn't wanna call them back 'cause I didn't want them to think like I was compounding using another problem. I'll just keep working it out. But he fixed whatever was going on with the plumbing issue.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I've only had to call about three times and every time, they've been very helpful. As soon as I call or within 24 hours, a contractor calls me and tells me when they're gonna schedule the time. The only thing I didn't like was that I thought the garbage disposal was covered but it wasn't. The contract needs to be clear because in the written contract, it has it under one of the coverable things. My biggest complaint with AHS is that when I call, I can't talk to somebody right away. Sometimes, I have to be on hold for 30, 40, 50 minutes before someone comes on to take the call. I know it can be done online too. But when calling about more than one thing, even the automated operator can't distinguish and the customer has to keep hitting the buttons to get to somebody because he tells them and then it kinda goes crazy. It doesn't know what he's talking about. It could be worse for somebody that was working all day and didn't have the time to stay on the phone to wait for an answer. But the contractors they have are pretty good and they all seem to know what they are doing.

American Home Shield picked a vendor that came out and fairly quickly diagnosed and solved the problem with the condenser replacement that he had with him. It was a very efficient and expedited repair. We signed up with American Home Shield again but it's been difficult sometimes to get a full resolution of a problem. We had a refrigerator go out right around March or April at the beginning of the pandemic. They sent different vendors out that did various things but nobody diagnosed the correct problem. We went without a refrigerator in that unit for about three or four months. That was at the same time our kitchen was being remodeled and we were cooking in the little house so it was very inconvenient.
It took them about four months plus to get a resolution. The final resolution is it's part of the sealed system and the manufacturer's warranty covers it. But in order to figure that out, I had to get Sears to come out myself and pay the guy 100 bucks to try to figure out what was wrong with it because nobody seemed to be able to figure it out. It was a very protracted affair with multiple things being done to the unit that weren't required to be replaced and nothing worked. American Home Shield has good vendors and they do good work except for that refrigerator.
Just before the renewal was due, we started having difficulties with the air conditioner on the little house and we have two air conditioners on this house that are about 16 years old. We figured we'd roll the dice and pay for the insurance. We've replaced every other appliance pretty much so there's really not much more for them to cover because we have a brand-new kitchen. There's the dishwasher and still this refrigerator in the little house and the air conditioning units. Some of these air conditioning units go with a very big price tag so we figured we’d keep American Home Shield for the next couple of years just for them. They worked both the other air conditioning units and put new circuit boards in when needed ‘cause they started failing. We got our money's worth. Hopefully, we won't need them this next year so I wouldn’t have to wait on hold to try to get in touch with them. It's so hard to get in touch with them and it takes forever on the phone to get a person.

We did the claim on a Friday and we got a call Saturday that they would be coming on Monday or Tuesday. That was a good timeframe. The last time, it was like nearly a week. It was seven days and we even called back. The first time it was 5 to 7 days before they could come out. It was like way out there. So I called American Home Shield back and said we didn't need to go without air that long. I asked was there something else that could be done. They said there was nothing. I called back twice and there was nothing that American Home Shield said they could do 'cause that's who they use. I said there's got to be somebody within this area. I'm a property manager and I know lots of the AC people. That doesn't make sense how Myers is the only company in this area that American Home Shield uses.
We have our refrigerator being worked on but the parts that they ordered are on backorder which is kinda odd. A lot of parts are on backorder for appliances because we're having issues too. It's been nearly three weeks since they came out. If you can't get a part from one place, it looks like you could try to get another part from another place. I'm very resourceful. If I can't get a refrigerator from Home Depot Pro, then I have another supplier. You always have to have a backup. They're just going to one place, they rely on that place and that's it.
American Home Shield is a great service. They'd done really good with our pool. The only problem that I have is with the AC. I like Myers but I think if they can't come out and they're so busy, American Home Shield needs to have another person come out. They need to have a backup. We could go a whole week without an AC. That's not a big deal. They used to do it back in the old days. But now, the way homes are built, you don't want moisture-related issues to start setting up. When you've got insulation up there and there's no air circulating, moisture is gonna build up. It's not like the old homes where there were cracks where air could flow through.

I couldn't be more pleased with American Home Shield. Recently, the refrigerator unit would not cool. I tried to do the claim over the phone and I was put on hold. After about 40 minutes, I gave up, went online and was able to book in three or four minutes. Their phone service is terrible. I'm sure they're doing a lot of remote working with the COVID thing but if I ever need them again, I'll go directly online and book it. It was very simple.
The contractor was GE Appliance. There was only a couple of days between when I called and when they were able to come out. They set the appointment time between eight o'clock in the morning and noon. I called them the day before because I wanted to find out how they were treating the COVID issue. They told me that they test all of their employees first thing in the morning and they wear masks when they come out on site. About half an hour to an hour later, I got kind of a robo call from them saying, "This is GE and we're calling about your appointment. With COVID, we want to let you know that when your serviceman arrives, he will have a mask and we'll expect you to also wear a mask and remain at least a six-foot distance." I was very pleased with that.
About 20 minutes before the guy got here, he called and introduced himself. He told me to describe what was happening. He said that sounded like a fan motor, he's got one in his truck and he'd see me in 20 minutes. I was probably his first appointment and he was here about 8:10. He came in, opened it up, put a test kit on it, said, "Yup, it's the fan motor," and had it fixed. He checked out and it was cooling within probably 20 minutes. It was a great experience.

I opened my oven door and it fell off. American Home Shield got the claim right away and the process was very good. The contractor had to order a part and when it came in, he went back. He got the job done fast. He was awesome and very nice. Everything was wonderful and the appliance is working as good as normal. AHS is fast, prompt and efficient.

Best Care Home Services did an awesome job. The first thing the technician asked me was what the issue was and I kinda explained what was going on. He proceeded to do the work to get it fixed and it was really quick. He was in and out. He also gave me some other tips to try to help to make sure that the issue did not occur again. But if it did occur again, that I could always call my warranty company and ask for them to come out which I would definitely do again.
American Home Shield has kinda been ebbing and flowing this go-around and I don't know if it's just because of everything that's going on. I had to call in yesterday. I've been having an issue with another appliance in my home since June. It's now September 29th and it has not been fixed. The first company that came out removed some bolts from the dishwasher. That company was unresponsive. American Home Shield could not get in touch with them. I could not get in touch with them too. Every rep that I talked to would not help. It was only when I asked to speak with someone in the retention department that they were listening in sending out another company. They told me my call should’ve been escalated to another department. They saved me as still being a client with American Home Shield because they worked through it. They set up another company to come out. They also offered me a service fee credit if I had another issue.
The new company did come out. He noticed that there were some parts that were taken so he was having to order those parts. But we don't even know if those parts are going to be the issue. He said the parts won't be in until mid to late October. That's been my only frustration because I didn't feel like it has to go about that long. I was diligent with calling but I don't know if it was just the wrong tech that I was talking to that couldn't fix the issue. But hopefully, by mid to late October, I'd have a working dishwasher.

One of our AC units didn't appear to be working. Sub Zero Mechanical came out and they replaced a compressor. Their repairman said that the fan in the other unit was in backwards. The repair was completed and soon after he left, we noticed that it still wasn't getting cool. Sub Zero kept the ticket open and told us to monitor it for a little while. The rep said that if need be, they would send out another more senior team to examine the other unit, which they did. The second team found that the fan was miswired. Once they repaired that and charged it up a little bit with some coolant, everything worked fine. Everything is fine now.
I'm not quite sure if the first guy did the right thing. But the second team seemed fine. They were very professional and they completed the work in time. This house is in Phoenix, Arizona and I was in the midst of moving into the house. During the time that the technicians were here, the temperature outside was up to 115 degrees and the temperature inside the house without air conditioning was over 95 so the air conditioning unit was essential for comfort.

The dishwasher wasn't heating, and the fridge was broken. My dryer wasn't drying really well, too. I had put it off because of COVID. But Intermountain Appliance Repair was sent by American Home Shield and they were able to take care of it. Ordering the parts took two weeks, but that was not their fault. They did well. My appliances are all working except for the dryer that is still not drying very well.

I submitted a claim to Home Shield for a garbage disposal. It was easy. The systems are easy to use and intuitive. The people have been positive and helpful. The contractor was friendly, knowledgeable and skillful. It was great. It was a repair. There were some things that lodged in there. The garbage disposal might sound a little different, but it works. Overall, we have been happy with everybody who has come out. Also, Home Shield has been a great service. They're professional. Plus, we moved into a house that had a lot of older appliances. We have been grateful to be able to work with everybody who has come out and to be insured. I had our microwave go, our dishwasher and oven. There have been a couple of things the last couple of years. We have been fortunate.

American Home Shield sent me an email saying that they can have maintenance done and I jumped on the offer. They chose ATR Heating and Cooling Richmond Corporation. When they came out, they were courteous and knowledgeable. They were also very sensitive about keeping the distance due to COVID. They were able to analyze and explain to me what was going on and what I needed to have done with the boiler.
It turned out that American Home Shield sent out a previous person that came and didn't catch that a wire came loose. That person changed some board in there so I'm not sure why the loose wire was not caught. ATR cleaned everything and explained to me what was causing the boiler to blow some heat. We tested it and it worked. The tech gave me my paperwork and he made it very seamless. Everything has been pretty smooth with American Home Shield. They've been pretty quick and they follow up quickly with a phone call as well as emails and text messages, which I like. And after the work is done, they follow up with me, which is a great added service feature. So far, so good

It's a good idea to get a home warranty. We had American Home Shield years ago on another home but they were okay and I had no complaints so I came back to them. But I wasn't pleased with them at first. The AC wouldn't come and the initial company that they set up didn't want to do the repair. So we called to cancel. They had to make some adjustments and they sent out a second vendor. RC Heating & Cooling did the repair and I was pleased with the vendor immediately.

We had an issue with our refrigerator and it took a while for a part but that's just how shipping is in the era of COVID. We waited for about five days but once the technician had the part in, he had it fixed in under a half-hour. It's been a good experience thus far with American Home Shield. Prior to having them, I know how long it took to wait for a repair person for various issues and I've never had any delays with the people that American Home Shield sends out that were as long or longer than what I'm used to in the past. So, I’d recommend them.

My AC stopped running and it was handled very efficiently by AHS. Submitting the claim with them was super simple. I am really bad about remembering username and passwords for accounts that I don't use often. Fortunately, they have an easy process for you to be able to access your information to submit a claim that does not add frustration to the frustration you already have for needing to submit a claim. They asked for the address and the telephone number associated with the account. Then, the contractor called me the same day and they came out to fix the problem on a Saturday. They were very professional and I was pleased that they were masked, given the climate.
For anyone who is thinking about getting a home warranty, it will be really good to know what is already warrantied so that you don't get more than what you need. And there are a couple of different plans but it’s best to do all-inclusive because I wouldn't have thought that my air went out or that I would have had an issue with my hot water heater. They were relatively simple fixes but if I hadn't had American Home Shield, I would have been out of a couple of hundred dollars easily each time.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

It was working at that point and they didn't need to do anything at all. We're still having some issues and we're actually getting a little bit clear as to what they are, but I will probably have to call them out again. I just wanna make sure I know exactly what the problem is this time when I call them out. Overall American Home Shield has made it a little easier to try to fix some problems.

When we first got connected with these folks at the title company, they sent all the wrong information, the wrong telephone number, the wrong mailing address. That took a couple of hours out of my time to get that cleared up, waiting online for somebody at the main company. But once we connected with a technician, he came out in a timely fashion and it went well. Our home inspector said that the stove should be replaced. It was unsafe. The technician concurred with that. I had to stay on the line and wait for two hours, and I finally got ahold of a lady in Iowa. I gave her raving reviews because she did such an awesome job with us. I ended up buying a product from American Home Shield. They had a bunch of some appliances and I bought a range. I'm very happy with it.
The company that they got to bring it out, Ritchie's Trucking in Medford area, did an outstanding job. American Home Shield reimbursed us for the amount for the replacement of the stove. That went well. I tried to buy a refrigerator through them but they didn't have any. That lady that I spoke to in that regard was not very helpful. But the second person I talked to about the refrigerator, the gal from Iowa, put me through to her supervisor and I gave her glowing reviews because after spending two hours on the phone, she really took care of me. My only negative is that waiting on the phone so long for them. It's really difficult to get ahold of anybody 'cause you have to stay on the line for a long time. Even if I go eight years without having anything go wrong, when I get hit with something, I don't have to cough up $1,500 at one time. I like the peace of mind of being covered. It's like any other kind of insurance. I had an issue where they had me double accounted or they were charging twice. So if it doesn't show up that long, it's because maybe they canceled. My recent claim was that the AC stopped working. J.G. Services was sent out and the technician was on time. He checked it out and said it needed a new motherboard. The contractor could not come in without calling first and I didn't have a phone that they could call. It messed up a lot of things that weekend. But they got here on Monday and worked with my daughters so that they would be assured I was home. With several phones involved, we got it all done. The tech blew it out quite efficiently. He also gave me some good advice on the way and even taught me how to do it myself next time.
I turned the AC on for about 30 minutes just to be sure water wasn't gonna come gushing out of the hoses after he left. Everything seemed fine and I've had the windows open since then. Every time US Air came out, they were wonderful whether they were working outside or inside. This is the second time I've had them out this summer. But finally, we got an email with our claim information. It has not been a great experience.
We had another experience where my mom's microwave was damaged or broken. They had a technician come out 15 times to repair. I thought that AHS should just buy a new microwave which was like $100. To have someone come out that many times, that’s probably 10 times that much just sending a technician out rather than just repairing. AHS finally got my mom a new microwave. But it was like two years. Ridiculous. Then, she would go days without being able to use their microwave. AHS should just get it together.
