Our recent claim with AHS was for the dishwasher. There were some issues with the circuit board. I raised a request to American Home Shield and they scheduled the provider for the service. The contractor scheduled another call with me and he asked me the right time and he came up the same day. It was all quick. The contractor came in and he said that he identified the issue immediately. After that, it took some time because there was a part that needed to be replaced. It had to get shipped to the address. It took around eight days of time. After that, he came back and he installed it.

One thing I would suggest is the status of the particular repair. It was not emailed. I had to, each and every time, go inside the app and see the information. Then, though that was not very clear, it was just telling me it is under review or under process and they didn't have much information on the website. So, if AHS could add some information like, “It is going to take this much time,” or ETA, it will be very helpful. But so far, I'm not disappointed in having a contract with American Home Shield. It's very good. Whenever I call for a repair, it's very quick and prompt. It's very professional, too. I just want to continue with American Home Shield and I would recommend to my friends also.

My boost pump went out. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was easy to do. Their tech from Clearwater Pools came when he told me he was gonna be there. He found the problem and even when the work was a little tedious when he was checking the transformer, he didn't mind that he had to get wet. I was a little disappointed though that AHS and their contractor were telling me that I had electrical problems. They also told me that if the transformer issue seemed to be electrical, then the wires aren't covered. Still, AHS has a good process and I had a good experience with their contractor.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield has been very easy. Their techs from ATR General Services came to service my HVAC unit claim and they were highly professional. They texted me when they were on their way. When they came, they had a mask and put on clean shoes or shoe coverings. They cleaned up the work area afterwards. I've already told friends what a wonderful service AHS is. They are there when I need them most. I'm happy to be a client of AHS.

The first time we made a claim with AHS was for the dishwasher and it was great. All I had to do was get online, submit my claim, and they called me the next day. The contractor came out and the tech was very professional and very timely. He kept me informed about the parts that he had to order and when they would be in. I had the dishwasher fixed within a week and it's been running like brand-new. It's worth the monthly deductible fee to be able to get your stuff fixed instead of having to replace it all the time.

We reached out to American Home Shield to have someone come out back in early May because we were having AC issues and they sent Sweet Mountain Air. Typically, before I use a business, I will look up reviews to make sure they are good and trustworthy. I looked up Sweet Mountain Air and they had the worst reviews I have ever read for a company. I called American Home Shield back with so many concerns and the person I spoke to was not very helpful. They just said, “You can either stick with him or you're gonna have to wait longer to have someone come out and service your AC unit.”

I never got a call from Sweet Mountain Air. I had to reach out to them and the guy hung up on me. He was so rude but I let it slide. The day he was supposed to come, he didn't show up. I called American Home Shield back and said, “He's already living up to the reviews that I read about and that I called you guys about.” The representative was somebody helpful. They tried calling him and said that he would still come that day, but we had already been waiting an hour. We're in Arizona and it was hot. I reached out to him to see where he was. Again, he was rude. He hung up on me again.

Finally, he showed up and said, “You have a leak. I'll fix it. It's gonna cost you this much in cooling." We trusted him. It was fixed and was working great. All of a sudden, our AC unit was not working. It turned out the fan died. Then Crispy Air came out. They said, "You have a huge leak. You have no refrigerant in your system at all. The wrong caps were used to seal them.” That's when I reached out to Debbie who worked for American Home Shield in California and she helped me get it escalated to have someone sooner rather than later help with the issue. It's been fabulous service from there on. Crispy Air was so amazing. I was very happy that American Home Shield was able to cover the costs because it wasn't done properly the first time. It put so much trust into them and I'm really happy that we chose them for our home warranty. We got a two-year contract which we will renew next year.

My garbage disposal wasn't working and it was fixed thru American Home Shield. However, anytime I call their 800 number, it's terrible. They need to employ more staff and not use COVID as the reason they can't answer the phone. Every time I try to, it says, “You can do this on the website.” But it won't let me reset a password on the website. I can't do what they prefer that I do it on the website so I'm forced to sit on their 800 number to place an order.

My faucet had to be replaced. It was leaking. Home Shield's website gives you enough options that you could select what the issue is and in your words, describe what the issue is. Steinberg Plumbing gave me a heads up. They gave me a call and scheduled the time. And then, the guy was there on time. He was a good guy, got the job done, and then left. No worries.

We had an experience with B B Lewis Plumbing that wasn't good, as far as communication but this time, it was. The sink wasn't draining in our master bath, but that's where our AC line is connected to. So, it needed to be cleared out. But they didn't clean up and they left a mess on the sink and on the rug. For 20 years, we've only had American Home Shield. The claim is easy to submit. It took a while to get a person over the phone, but they were nice whenever I spoke with them. We used to live in the Dallas area and the contractors in the Dallas area were of better quality than the ones and I felt more confident in who they were sending out. Here in Austin, it's a hit or miss with who they send out.

The most recent claim I submitted was for a refrigerator. I was a little bit perturbed because Home Shield sent a technician and he came in, he looked at it, he spent five minutes, and he spent 45 minutes in his van. I had to text him and ask if he was coming back in. He told AHS that the refrigerator could not be fixed. It was something with the condenser. We had to get a new refrigerator and Home Shield was offering me $3,000, although the refrigerator is $8,000 when we bought it. I sent AHS a copy of the invoice about two weeks ago and I am trying to get the 3,000 but I have not heard anything. What really irritated me is in addition to the $100 that we paid, which the technician said he spent an hour, we were charged an additional $175, which he spent five minutes, and that 175 is coming out of the 3,000.

Also, I had an AC claim and Home Shield replaced it. The contractor said there's a permit pulled and I wanted to see a copy of it but I never got it. We have a new AC but we've never gotten it inspected. It should have been inspected by the county and no one ever came. I've called Home Shield and they said that was between me and the contractor and I could never get him on. These two instances really left a bad taste in my mouth but other than those, I'm happy. Home Shield has also replaced a microwave for us and a garbage disposal. I would suggest Home Shield to a friend.

ARG Going Green came three times but they didn't do their job properly. The problem wasn't fixed. But they were very punctual on all three occasions. They gave me half an hour heads-up time, and they were awesome. The first guy who came was very genuine and honest. The second time around when their technician came, he didn't do a complete job of filling the refrigerant. He charged me and I paid him yesterday and that was it. I sent in the claim through the online portal and it was kind of rigid. It could have at least a text box where I can write something. It did not let me write anything. It was ABC two choices. That was it. Also, it was a pain to reach the customer service. They take me on hold for 20 minutes. I needed to talk to someone and one lady just hung up on me after being in the conversation for about 15 minutes.

They were also very easy to get along with. I've been very happy with the response from American Home Shield and getting somebody out there. I'll be renewing here at the first of the year with it. Someone called AHS on my behalf and the response was very fast. The contractor scheduled a visit and someone was there to welcome them and oversee what's going on. I was told the contractor did a really quick thing and in the long term, they will advise doing some adjustment and stuff. But the day after, it was clogged again and the contractor came back. It's kinda like they tricked something and when it didn't work, they came back really fast and fixed it for good. And it was under AHS. The response and the service were very appreciated.

I had a recent claim on my hot water tank. The digital display was going off and making an alarm saying that the lower sensor wasn’t doing something. Murray’s Plumbing and Heating came out, they looked at it, and then they said, “Well, you have a leak at the bottom, and it just needs to be replaced altogether.” They said they would call and talk to American Home Shield, and they did that. American Home Shield called me the next day and said it's been approved. The plumbing place didn't call me back but they did the next day and then a day or two later, they came out. I sent a claim in for a furnace to American Home Shield and I've been talking with them for a month about it. They have allegedly called three different companies that were gonna call me back within 24 hours. I have not heard from any of them. Generally, AHS sends good contractors but submitting claims has been extremely difficult. I have been on hold for up to three hours. When I speak with their reps, I'm told that their contractor would call me. They give me the contractor's name and contact info but about half the time, I have to chase their contractors down.

Our contract with AHS says they'll either replace or fix out equipment. Our oven died and we've been waiting four months now. They couldn't fix it so they offered me $540-something. I can't replace an oven for that amount. They then said that they would order me a replacement. What they order would go to their warehouse and they will ship it to me. That replacement was supposed to be at my place two weeks ago. I'm very disappointed in American Home Shield.

We had some minor plumbing issues. One of our toilets was running and we had a leak in a pipe to one of our tubs. We also had an issue with one of the handles in the kids' bathroom. It was loose and we didn't want it to get the other one did up in the kids’ room where the tub was. I went on the website and it said “request service”. I filled it out and then it gave me PHD Mechanical as the plumber. The plumber happened to be in the area. So they wound up coming within two hours of when I sent the email. They also called on the phone to figure out what I needed or what the issue was. They were great.

Those little plumbing issues add up and then you wind up having a whole bunch of problems everywhere. So the guy from PHD Mechanical was able to come out and get three things out of the way. He even had to go and get a part for something. He went and got that and came back and was able to make all my plumbing issues go away within the day. So the service was definitely helpful. Advanced Plumbing came out for an issue that I had, and their representative was very kind and professional. He solved my problem and he intimated that there was an issue about the way the setup was prior to my purchasing the property. The way the plumbing came into the house needed to be changed. He said it was about a $600 job, but it wasn’t covered under my home warranty.

I love American Home Shield. The peace of mind that comes with the wisdom in utilizing this tool that is offered through American Home Shield has really blessed me. I'm a first-time homeowner and my friends that care about me suggested that I utilize this service. It’s twice now that my air conditioning unit went out. Climate Express came out two times for my AC unit that wasn't cooling. I asked a tech to come out and check on it in my mudroom. I wanted all of them to be checked out but the tech with Climate Express could only check one. I agreed to have the one checked so we started over there at the mudroom and realized that the pan was full so it had an automatic shutoff. The tech got that going, cleaned it out, and drained the pan.

There are three units in this house. On the second call, my painters and my electrician noticed that the other unit on the other side of the house was hot and the fan had stopped and it was humming. My electrician pulled the breaker switch on it. I was told that the fan had broken so American Home Shield replaced that. Now, the AC is running like it should.

I find American Home Shield's site to be fine and accessible. I can get to it. But I'm challenged right now. I called in a dryer malfunction. I contacted the company, Supreme Tech, on Monday and they couldn't get to me until Saturday. I have a 48-hour window for my claim from what I understand about my contract. I told Supreme Tech that the schedule would not work so I was gonna have to call American Home Shield back. I spoke with a rep and it sounded like the call was dispatched from another country. The rep said she had to call the company that was originally assigned to the claim before she could assign another.

I requested another contractor, All In One, because they had come out the week before for my washer. They took care of it and straightened it out. I liked their service. I presumed that just like how Climate Express seemed to have gotten called when I had AC problems, I would have the same one for the washing machine and dryer. American Home Shield called this other company but this one said they were too busy. When I called American Home Shield back, they said, “We have to call this company that was too busy and either figure out what they're doing or let them know that we’re gonna change it from them or something.”

I refused to hold and asked if they could just go ahead and re-assign the claim. The rep said she couldn't reassign until she talked with them. Yesterday, I got a call from Supreme Tech saying they were confused. They said, “You told us that our time was too late to get to you. We asked you to call American Home Shield.” I said I did and was told that the rep had to call them to make sure. I then went back to attempting to call American Home Shield. I must have gotten distracted. I tried to put a work order in online and was asked if wanted to do it again since I already submitted that claim. I said yes but nobody ever called after that. It's almost like it's dead now. My dryer has been down since Monday and won't turn on. I've been in the house for 17 days so I'm going left and right with another claim now. I haven't gotten back to it yet.

Despite that, I am satisfied. American Home Shield is doing their job. They're sending the people out. I'm paying $75 every time they do it and nobody has left here saying they could not help me, which I appreciate. Climate Express is the best AC people I've ever met. The ones around this area work for commission so these guys are still hourly. They had to fix what was broken and I had charges. I had another guy come out from another company and I had $9,000 worth of charges. Climate Express came out and told me how great my systems look and they felt great.

Red Wing Plumbing and Heating was amazing. I hope that they continue to be with American Home Shield. I'm still moving into the home. We had a mystery happening to us. On our kitchen sink, we couldn't figure out why we didn't have any water pressure. They tried a couple of things, and then they finally mitigated that. So, that was fantastic, and I was super happy about that. Then our water heater was continuously dripping. We just put a bucket under there. It was a slow drip. The contractor tried a number of things and what it ended up to be was a water pressure device needed to be installed between our water heater and the outside water source coming from our city. That was not covered by American Home Shield because it was something that wasn't already installed. So, we had to pay for that piece. But once they put that in, it resolved the issue immediately.

American Home Shield's wait times are crazy, and it's just because of the environment we're in these days. This is something they could not control. Their call volumes have increased substantially. With everything COVID, the world has been turned upside down. But what they do offer, which I really appreciate, is you can opt in to have them call you back. That works out really well. You press whatever button to say, “Hey, we'll call you back when we're ready.” I really like that feature. I have American Home Shield with another home too. I really love their appliance purchase program where you can purchase an appliance from them. They won't install it so you can be creative in whom you partner with to get it installed.

Given the call volume that they're experiencing, I've never felt the reps being short with me. Their customer service comes naturally to them, and maybe that's how they set out their employees. I've never felt that they were rushing me or pushing me along or making me do decisions that I wasn't comfortable with. They hire really good people. Every single person I've talked to is the most professional, very knowledgeable, and doesn't feel rushed to get me off the phone even given their call volume.

I really like American Home Shield. I've had good experience with my other home, and I'm having good experience with this home. They couldn't cover the piece that we needed for our water heater. But then they did fix our washing machine. They gave us a rebate for the washing machine because it was kaput. At my other home, I had this very unique refrigerator and it was not repairable. American Home Shield gave me money to get it replaced. And that was very generous. It's a built-in refrigerator that you see in very expensive homes. I had no idea what I was getting into because this refrigerator on the market cost like about $10,000.

American Home Shield gave me a good amount of money to replace it. Then I bought my refrigerator through American Home Shield at a significant discount. What American Home Shield will do is they'll drop it in your driveway. They don't install it for you, so you have to figure out that piece of it. But given this fridge was like 10K on the open market, I got it at a significant reduction. So, even though I was out-of-pocket money because of the difference, I was extremely happy with how customer service works with me.

My dishwasher was having a problem, too. It’s just ugly at the old house. So, what I did is I bought my dishwasher through them too through their discount program. It's a crazy great discount program. I got the dishwasher to match the refrigerator. It looks really nice. So, I think what sold my home is that my kitchen was gorgeous now with this gorgeous refrigerator and this wonderful dishwasher that I had. It was all through their discount program. I was lucky enough to find somebody in the local area here where I live that install things even though that you don't buy them from them.

I was stressed because that was my first experience with American Home Shield trying to do a problem, and everyone I talked to was wonderful. I called a lot because I was really skeptical about this whole program. “What do you mean you just drop it in my driveway?” I called a lot and customer service was fantastic. They coached me on the right fridge to buy because I was so confused because it was so unique. They were trying to help me not spend a lot of money and get the wrong kind of fridge. Every person was very knowledgeable and very patient, and very empathetic. It was like they were walking in your shoes with you. Every contractor that American Home Shield sent out always met or exceeded my expectation every single time.

We had a plumbing issue so we submitted a claim with AHS. However, when the contractor came out, he just looked at it and it was fixed. Whatever was stopped up in it had an opportunity to clear out. So far, it has been doing well. One time, the air conditioner broke and it was the compressor and the contractors had to take out all of the Freon. Then the compressor went out again. We had to pay a tremendous price for the Freon. We spent $1,100 dollars on the Freon. AHS covers only a very limited amount of the Freon cost. Then when it went out again, we would have had to go through the compressor manufacturing company for a warranty on them, but we’d have lost the Freon. So we went ahead and bought another air conditioner outside the policy.

And then we put in one for our furnace. The guy came out, did what he needed to do, done. However, I have concerns about follow through. We put in a thing for our washing machine. We're still waiting. I have to now call the lady back again. Perhaps this is related to COVID-19, but to me, it's not the same Home Shield that it was of the past. Even though we got a follow-up, we're still waiting on some stuff with our washing machine. We've paid the money. The guy came out and said, "Okay, I need to order a part." That has been four weeks. So now, as the consumer, I'm trying to call and say, "Is the part in? Is the part in? Is the part in?" I'm not very pleased.

We also had one incident where we paid twice. That had to do with our dishwasher. I spent four hours on the phone, we never got a refund, and we never got the issue resolved. We've had three to four vendors come out and we paid $150 for nothing to be resolved. I would like that when I ask to speak to a supervisor, not to be told that everybody's in a meeting. That was the push-off. I asked the guy again, "Oh, all the supervisors are helping somebody." "Well, I need to help too." Home Shield sent people who said it's a plumbing issue, then another vendor said it's another issue. Then they kick it back to a plumbing issue. But at the end of the day, the dishwasher was not fixed. With $150 in light of COVID-19, we didn't have $150 to donate in addition to paying monthly. That soured me.

I had to have them come back twice because the first time, it did not resolve the issue. But the second time, he was able to determine what it was. It was a faulty thermostat which I just fixed myself in the interest of time. American Home Shield was responsive and understood the issue. They did their best to get it fixed quickly.

We were gone for several hours and when we came back and opened the door, the house was heated. This has not been one time. We tried to figure out where the heat was coming from. The self-clean oven was on. We could not get it turned off by trying to punch some of the buttons. Also, no buttons would work. We don't know how many hours it had been on and the racks were in the oven always. Before that when I did self-clean it, I would take the racks out and clean those by hand. It was brown all around the oven. It was completely ruined. The buttons were so hot that you couldn't touch them. They were almost melted. My husband had to unplug it at the breaker. That was the only way we could turn the thing off.

We filed for a claim with American Home Shield and our contractor was 3-D Hoover Services. They sent a man over here and he said the motherboard was all that was wrong with it. Evidently, he didn't look at everything like a woman would. The racks were burned as well as the inside and everything. We wanted a new oven but the man said we needed a motherboard. It turned out American Home Shield could not get the motherboard. They even tried to get one from the factory. When we asked about getting a whole oven, they offered us $312. But we would not accept $312 for a $2,500 oven.

They got busy and they found an oven that was comparable. The one we had was a GE Profile. The one that they found was comparable was a KitchenAid. 3-D came Thursday morning and installed it perfectly. It's a really nice oven and I really like it. It took several months but American Home Shield finally came through. I'm very satisfied.

We had a kitchen sink backed up. The second company that came out was great. They came, fixed the problem and left in 15 minutes. The first company that came out ruined my stuff in my home, left and I lost $200 for the visit. It seemed like the technician was not educated on his job. He didn't know what he was doing. He dropped something in the garbage disposals and turned the garbage disposal on. Then he broke the little cap that goes near my faucet. Whatever he dropped in the garbage disposal caused it to malfunction. Now, it’s giving like a loud hissing sound where you know something's wrong with it.

It was night time. I didn't want that sitting there. I took it off and I had to go buy one myself. I spent $180 on it. The tech was arguing saying that he didn't break it. But we're standing right there on the new garbage disposal. It’s not even a year old until he broke it. I reached out to American Home Shield and they said they’d follow up and do an investigation. I haven't heard back and it's been over a week.

Overall, with American Home Shield, an issue is never resolved the first time. It always takes two to three times. It’s never a one-and-done. I recommend them to everyone else that I know. My cousin has a house out here. She got the plan. I recommended them to my cousin in another city, too. I like their service. It’s not their fault, but every company is different. You don't know who you're really getting. When they usually hand me the company that's coming out, I always check, “What are their reviews?” Most of the time, it’s like 2-stars or 3-stars. I’m like, “Great. Doesn't this mean I’m gonna have to kick the guy out of my house ‘cause he’s not gonna know what to do?” Then, usually, it's always terrible and I have to call back. Then, I finally get a good company. I am still satisfied because they get contractors out pretty quickly.

American Home Shield is a worthwhile company. Having a home warranty, you save a lot of money. Sometimes, you don't get people out as quickly as you want them but among almost everything that we had done through American Home Shield, the wait time was tolerable. We could have called up a private place and paid extra money to get it done faster but it worked out okay. I did have one emergency issue that they told me they couldn't get to immediately. They said I could call anybody I wanted to and they wouldn't charge me for it.

For the most recent claim, it took 15 days to get the water heater man out here to look at it. It turned out to not be the water heater but an electrical problem. The electrical contractor came out the next day. American Home Shield called him and he called me. We worked out when he would come. We did most of the working out after we got each other’s names. On another claim, Sears did the microwave light very well. They came out quickly and it's working now. When submitting a claim, you get to spend a long time on hold. But that seems to be true for most companies these days. It's definitely longer than I would like. To get a whole order put in, the time waiting or putting my name down to get a call back is probably 30 minutes. They give you the option of them calling you back later.

That was a little slow. I haven't heard from anybody in reference to the appliance department yet. The issue has not been completed. It's a toss-up mainly because it works. But sometimes, you have to really be diligent about getting things done, which involves making phone calls, being on the phone for least an hour on average. That’s the one problem I have. I've never tried to do it online and I guess it's not American Home Shield's issue. I would recommend them to others. But I would let others know that they have to be committed to it, because if not, then they're not going to get the right service. I like American Home Shield but I need to write a letter to them that Garage Door Experts' service is not really good at all. They're terrible. I have a Jackshaft garage door lift. The fella stood on the ground, looked at the Jackshaft, walked over to the center of the door, looked at my springs and said, "Your springs are broken. They're worn out. You need to replace them. They're not adequate for the door." He made that diagnosis without even attempting to lift the door to see that the springs balanced the door as they were supposed to.

I'm kind of an engineer myself and I can tell the springs are not broken. Frequently, garage door springs have rust on them. I have a broken coupling for the Jackshaft where the motor connected to the shaft that lifts the door. That was one issue. He ordered the part and it came 10 days later. I called him, he came out and put that on and installed the part before telling me how I needed new springs. It turned out that he didn't really know how to operate or work on the Jackshaft lift. He said, "We have a technician who's more educated on these than myself. I'll get him to come by." That guy never came by. I called three or four times wanting to know when he was coming and it was one thing after another. The last call I made to them was the fella who proclaimed himself as being the expert on the Jackshafts and he said, "It's very clear from the report here that your springs are bad." That was the reason. That Jackshaft's damage was secondary damage therefore there's no coverage.

I called and he said he put in a report and to see what American Home Shield would say. I waited a couple of hours and called American Home Shield. I spoke to someone who pulled up that the report had just been filed. That's almost a month after they called the first call. He didn't submit the report till I called and inquired about it and finally got the guy. I said, "That's not the problem. The springs are good and they function as they're supposed to." I told them I wanted a second opinion. I asked if D & G Garage Doors still works for them. I figured they didn't because they gave the first order to Garage Door Experts. She said they still do so I asked for Darrell to come. Darrell has come out here before and adjusted this door for me. He knows his beans. The young lady was very good and explained to me the procedure that if the second opinion is the same as the first, then I owe for the second opinion expense as well. I said to go ahead and do it.

Darrell came out, looked at it and said, "The springs are good. There's something inside the motor that's broken and they don't make this anymore. We've gotta get a new Jackshaft on there." These other guys, Garage Door Experts, all they wanna do is sell a spring at twice the price of what they should cost. They don't have that good a reputation. To that extent, I'm not happy because they're a lousy contractor. But in so far as cooperating with me and getting my second opinion, and with Darrell from D & G, I'm very happy with that solution.

Silver Strand Electric came but I got completely caught up at work and was unable to get to my house in the amount of time. The guy was very nice and stayed as long as he possibly could. But in the interest of not postponing the rest of the day, he had to leave by the time. I was pretty sure that he registered it as a missed appointment or something like that.

I also submitted a request for heating and air conditioning. On the AHS site, they offer a pre-winter tune-up. I clicked on that and booked it. Then I guess there was a code that was sent from Home Shield to the vendor telling them the reason for the ticket. The code indicated that there was an issue with my heating and air conditioning, but there actually isn't. When the guy came in, he called his office. The office wouldn't let him do any work until they clarified it with Home Shield. If they do something that wasn't coded properly, then Home Shield wouldn't reimburse them properly.

The dude hung out at my house for an hour and waited until his office would clarify. He said that he would just go ahead and do the work as it sounded right. I showed him on the app, where AHS advertised it. The girl in the office said no as pre-winter tune-ups are not covered under the home warranty policies. She didn't want the guy to do the work because they would not get paid for it. I asked the guy how much is their winterization. I told him that if AHS doesn't cover it and doesn't reimburse me for it, screw it. I would pay them directly so that they could do it. He went ahead and did the work.

By the time he was done with a tune up, the lady from the office called back and the guy told her he only got 15 minutes left. She called back finally and said that the home warranty would cover it and the guy should do the work. He said alright and hung up the phone. He was done. The home warranties are never super streamlined. It's never the easiest way to get service and I completely understand. But I do it to prevent me from having to pay out a whole bunch of cash to get something fixed.

I originally called American Home Shield for a plumbing issue. When I talked to the representative, I didn't know what was wrong with my waterline but I had a leak. It looked like it was outside. The rep mentioned that if the leak is not in the house or the foundation, they would not cover it. So I just went on and said that I needed the electrical done. But when I finally got the plumbers to come out to check on the leak, they found that it was in the foundation. I ended up having to pay one plumber to come out and pay 95 for that, and then I called for another plumber that I could finance through. That was $3,100 because they had to replace the line. I'm at the point now where I don't know how American Home Shield does it if you use an outside company. I'm waiting on invoices to submit to them and I'm not sure how that's handled but I haven’t been dissatisfied with American Home Shield from past visits.

For the electrical issue, some of my lights were flickering and I had some ceiling fans that I thought that didn’t work. I couldn't turn them on. The technician was excellent. We thought it was something electrical but he showed us it was not by taking the bulb that was flickering and putting it in another socket, and it still flickered. He educated us on the wattage that we were using and explained about the LED light flickering when they’re about to go out. Then he did a couple of adjustments with the ceiling fan.

The first year, I didn't pay for it, but because of the service I received and how great everything was, I went ahead and renewed it. I'm set up on auto renewal 'cause I don't want it to lapse. Recently, every time I turned the hot water on, it was leaking out of the handle and I had a constant drip. The gentleman that came out was awesome. He asked me if I had any questions about the sink, how it worked. It was great.

It's a rent-a-husband-without-attitude, so it's great. I just love it because it's $75 for them to come out. An example is when the refrigerator that I got with the house, we tried several times to hook up the ice maker. It leaked on the outside, on the inside. I forgot I had AHS. So, I called them. I got a brand-new refrigerator and the only thing that was wrong with it was the ice maker. Now I have a refrigerator in the garage and I have one in the house. I couldn't be happier with American Home Shield, their customer service. I get phone calls and follow-up texts. They let me know who's coming when they're coming. Then the technicians call me to verify, and then they call me anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half out.

I went through an easy process and things worked out well. The reps set up my claim with Piedmont Mechanical who then called me. The tech who was sent was good. I would definitely have this contractor back.

The technician that came out for our AC unit was very professional, very nice and tried to explain everything the best he could to us. We're up there in age, so we don't know a lot of new stuff. He said that he would turn his paperwork in to his boss and his company would then, in turn, turn it in to American Home Shield but we haven't heard back from anybody. We've been waiting for American Home Shield to call us and tell us if they were gonna do something and what they were gonna do. From the day the AC guy came out, we have not heard from them or AHS.

My sister-in-law referred us to American Home Shield in Georgia and she loved them. So we gave AHS all the information when we inititally called them. On the 9th, they were supposed to take our third payment. However, I kept looking at my bank account 'cause I check it every day and they never took the money out. I said to my husband, "Ty, you need to call them. Something's not right. I don't think they've processed anything." We really should've had it for four months. So that was the first bad taste with American Home Shield in my mouth.

The second was when our washer just quit spinning. It took 10 days to get it fixed. Because the company that was doing the repair had the incorrect home address and they never showed up. We waited on them and I canceled two appointments on that Friday. I couldn't get any help on the phone, so I ended up sending AHS a message through Facebook Messenger and it still took them three days to get back to me. I really don't know if they are the right home warranty company for us.

I had an issue with my garage door and the process of submitting the claim to American Home Shield was pretty easy. The only issue we had was that the company that they chose the first time was overbooked, and it took them a little bit longer to get to our house. They were a no show at first. I had to reach out to the company, and they apologized that they were overbooked. They were over two hours away from our home. The contractor that ended up coming out was fine. He was a really super nice guy. He was in and out in like 45 minutes. American Home Shield did a good job. They had a great and easy process.

The little bitty string that you cut on the light in the ceiling fan broke. I just called the number on the phone and made the appointment. It was easy. Then Moen Electric came out. They were professional, had their mask on, and were really nice two guys. When they were repairing, a song was on the radio, and they both started humming to the song that was on the radio. That was funny. And then I was like, “Okay, what do y'all know about this song?” And they started laughing. They heard the song a lot of times, so we talked about songs and this and that. They listen to everything. My son and I listen to everything. So, we had a good conversation. They were cool guys.

I'm not American and we don't have this kind of thing in the UK. So, I was a little bit skeptical. But so far, we're really glad that we took out this extra layer of protection. If things do happen in the house, they can get repaired and it's a limited outlay for us. So, we've been pretty happy so far. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield from the first couple of experiences we've had so far.

We had a claim on a secondary swimming pool pump. We only just had American Home Shield since we took it in June after having a previous home warranty company. The scheduling with the app was very easy. The communication with the tradesperson was very efficient. I was very impressed. I was worried with the home warranty about the standard of tradespeople that were gonna come out. But so far, we've been very impressed with the level and the professionalism of the people they sent us. They were very helpful. We communicated by text because it was over a weekend. They told us not to kind of turn the system on, and then they were able to replace everything there and then. It was all done with one visit. Everything seems to be fine.

They respected my home and wore masks and shoe coverings. When they initially came in and checked everything out on the inside and when they entered back into the residence when they had to go out and do whatever work they did, they always knocked and announced themselves before they walked in. I thought someone was coming back out to finish the work, because he had a hole in the ceiling, but when I went online, it stated that my order was complete. So, at that point, I didn't know what else to do. Other than that, submitting the claim was very easy and the tech who came out was very professional. He knew exactly what he was supposed to do, got right to the problem, and corrected it. And the only flaw was that he left footprints in the carpet even if he had on the protective gear for the feet. But that was because of the weather and it was a minor thing. I could clean that up.

I had a problem with the air handler in the basement for my air conditioner. I had the fire department here for it because a belt or motor burnt out. AHS should only send them any time I have a problem with my air conditioner because the guy prior to them was a shyster, shoemaker. The air conditioner is running great.

I have two air conditioners. I have a three-ton unit on the basement and first floor, and then I have a two-ton unit at the second floor of the house. I had a problem with the upstairs one in the spring. Maselli came out and fixed it. Since I started going in online and logging, my experience with AHS has been very convenient. The only downside is sometimes it takes a while for a contractor to get back to you. But since I dealt with Maselli for my last two experiences, they were very quick.

He did not call and just said that he was there to do it. It was a busy time, but still. American Home Shield should be quicker on the calls. I’ve been with them since 2012 and three years ago, I had the air conditioner changed out when it was 110 outside, and it took them almost a week. But a warranty does help and it saves you money. It’s just the waiting till the last minute. It depends on the company. Some of them call and say that they’re on their way out. Other than that, I haven't had a problem with AHS.

Naftel Heating and A/C was fantastic. On the other hand, Home Shield is really hard to talk to. It's extremely hard to make them understand anything and a lot of them are foreign and don't speak English very well. I'm very unhappy about that. Also, Home Shield has given me people that have not been good in the past. I had a home warranty with Sears, which is A&E, and Home Shield sent them out one time when I had a problem. But I didn't want them. I tried to make that clear, but I couldn't. But I told the woman I was talking to, if they would not let me use Naftel, I would cancel my subscription to Home Shield, and they did. He is a fabulous man.

My heating air has not worked very well for the 10 years that I've lived in this house, and it was brand new when I moved. It's perfect now. The tech did a great job. What he came out for this time was just my fall check. But he was the first one to ever figure out I had a bad compressor in my air. That's why it works so much better now. That's why wanted him. I am very satisfied because I picked the person. But I'm very dissatisfied by Home Shield. They made me pay for the Freon out of pocket. And the gentleman told me it's because it has become extremely expensive. The guy told me that Home Shield is the one that orders the Freon and compressor, so they could've let me know I would have to pay it because I needed it.

I had another man that came. He worked on my washer and dryer. Wonderful man. Did a great job and fixed it. I paid my thing, and I was told that from there on out, that was considered my responsibility, because what it was the drain in my washer was stopped up, and Home Shield said that's normal maintenance and I should have done that myself. One, how was I to know that? And two, he had to take the drawer out, crawl under the machine to get to the drain. I'm a single woman and that's not something I would even think about doing. I clean out the drain in the washing machine where I can see it, but the part underneath, no. I would never recommend Home Shield.

I submitted a claim for a washer and dryer, a microwave, and an AC unit, and it was a waste of money. I would have never got American Home Shield because they weren't able to fix anything. I had to buy a new washer. I spent $300 in fees of people going out when I shoulda just bought the washer to begin with. The contractors seemed like they didn't wanna work. They seemed like they were just rushed to go in and out. They go out there but they're not trained enough to do anything so they're not gonna do anything for you unless they have to.

The guy that serviced my AC was horrible. He only spent like five minutes there. He basically told me my whole unit needed to be completely redone. It leaked freon so he told me to call the warranty people because I have a major issue with the unit. But the warranty was not going to pay for it because it was running. I was also very disappointed with the people that serviced the washer. I couldn't even wash my clothes for a long time. Something with the wheel broke off and they tried to say it where it's my fault that the wheel broke off. It's wear and tear. But how did I do wear and tear? I've been using it like a normal washer. But I'm not going to argue with these people. Yesterday, I bought a new washer.

I'm very dissatisfied and I would never recommend to anybody. You're gonna waste your money if you go to American Home Shield. It was overall a horrible experience and I'll probably never buy a warranty again because it'll kill you. You're gonna spend $100 each time somebody goes out there and if they can't help you, you're basically out of 100 bucks.

We had a plumbing issue in the shower in our master bathroom. There was some knocking and groaning in the pipes in the wall. We opened the claim through American Home Shield and the guy from Brick Street Plumbing came out and fixed it. It got a lot better. He did a great job, was prompt and seemed to address the issue. But there may be another underlying issue that he wasn't aware of that we may have to try to address again. My wife let me know yesterday that it might still be knocking some more but I've got to investigate that a little bit. I wouldn't put that on him because it sounded like it was fixed when he left. I'd have trouble demonstrating for him if he were here. It's inconsistent. So what I might do is to try to record it next time it happens and maybe I can then share it with him.

American Home Shield has been great. I made another claim for a refrigerator repair. We had a small beverage, cooler fridge in our basement and it still ran in blue air but the air was hot. It wasn't cooling. It was a different company and the guy came out today. He added more Freon to the compressor and replaced these little electrical relays. I got to check it again. I've been gone but when I left, it was getting cold in the fridge. So, he knocked it out. I've been pleased so far. We just had American Home Shield three weeks ago and I was motivated to get the most out of the warranty as I could. We're in the DC area and it's competitive here. In order to even have our foot in the door for an offer, we had to waive the home inspection. So, the Realtor offered to buy us a warranty to kinda offset the risk.

I'm very upset with American Home Shield right now. I recently called to have some doors rekeyed and they told me they couldn't set up a service visit without my account being settled. They were saying I have an outstanding service fee of $100. But it isn't the case. They told me they were working it out. But it's been over a month since that issue arose. So, I couldn't get a service visit, and no one told me how they expected to resolve the issue. I'm really disenchanted right now.

The reason this happened is that right after I signed up for the service, I paid for it. But there was like a window where I could cancel. I called up to cancel and they transferred me to a unit. I think they do that to retain your membership. I never received my contract. I asked for a hardcopy, and I wasn't aware that each visit required the $100 fee, and I wasn't pleased with that. The customer service guy said, “How about this? I’ll waive the first service fee for you. Try it, and if you're unhappy, then cancel.” So, I let him talk me into it. I said, “Please, make sure you put that in your notes.” He said he would.

I scheduled the first visit because my handle on my stove wasn't functioning properly. Someone came out, and all he did was unplug the oven and plug it back in. I could then open the door, but I saw him feel my panel wasn't functioning properly. He told me he saw some moisture in the panel. He said to give it time to dry, and it should be okay. I'm still waiting on that. I don't know why he didn't go inside the panel and dry it out. I still can't use my panel properly though.

Not long after that, my air conditioning started blowing warm air. So, they sent out an air conditioning person, and he told me it wasn't my air conditioning. It was the electric fuse box. He said he would send an electrician to look at the box, and he did. The electrician fixed the fuse box which was just screwing some screws in, and it took less than 10 minutes. My air started producing cold air again.

They told me that there wouldn't be a service charge for the electrician because it was related to the air conditioning guy. So, they put on there zero service charge. But despite all that, I still don't have the use of the oven properly, and they're saying I owe $100. They waived it. So, I was responsible for only 100 and they took 200 from my account. Now, they won't let me get any service visits because they said they're working on it. That's been over six weeks now. I had to pay out of my pocket just Tuesday to get three locks rekeyed. I really didn't appreciate paying out of my pocket, but I needed the work done. I really let myself be talked into trying it, and now, I'm very unhappy with the service.

About a year ago, I had someone come out and converted over from using Freon to some other kind of refrigerant that didn't cost so much and the refrigerant that I had in was not one that AHS approved. Also, the Budget tech told me my air was in bad shape. He told me I need to cut it off. The line was frozen where we had had it going. Now, the air is coming out like a little better, but still not cool.

My whole reason for getting AHS was because I was really concerned about trying to handle the repairs on this house, mainly those furnaces. Josko came out and put a new hot water tank in. Our previous one sprung a leak. But I had American Home Shield sent somebody two other times because I knew eventually it was gonna spring a leak because the whole bottom was full of rust and I was trying to prevent the leak. I paid $125 each time they sent somebody out. Any time they sent somebody out, they said that I would get a replacement, but American Home Shield never called me back to let me know that they closed it. Finally, this last time, because it did spring a leak and they could see the water in the bottom in the pan, then they went ahead and replaced it.

I usually call American Home Shield to submit claims. It's fairly easy when you submit a claim. They send me an email letting me know that they've assigned a contractor and they're good at giving me the telephone number so I can call them too if I need to. People have also been very prompt in setting up appointments. The latest contractor who came out was was fantastic. He got the job done.

I called them today because they said that they had to do an inspection with the county, and nobody's ever come out. I didn't tell them, but when they took the door down to put the heater in, they had to put the door back up and put the hinges. Now, when we shut the door, it looks like it's pushing against the water pipes itself. This is something I'm gonna bring up tomorrow when they come out. I called them today to find out when are they gonna come out to do the inspection. I don't want that to create problems of shutting that door and pushing on the water pipe, and then have the seals break.

I've been with American Home Shield for years, and so far, it's been better than not better. I've had good responses and you got to take the good with the bad. They did replace a refrigerator and they now have replaced a hot water tank. The only thing they didn't replace was a microwave because they said I had roaches. But I didn't see no roaches. The contractors didn't show me any roaches to prove what they said and what they didn't say.

The new tankless hot water heater was sent and when the technicians came to install it, they took my old one out and got ready to put the right one in. I was on hold with AHS for two hours and 45 minutes total, and I talked to somebody for about 15 minutes.

I have another claim right now for my microwave and the place that came and looked at it told me right away that it was gonna have to be replaced. They said that AHS was gonna be contacting me so that I could order a new one. They never contacted me and so, I called them and got ahold of somebody. He said that he was gonna transfer me because I need to put in an order for this new one. I was on hold for over two hours. I finally had to hang up because I had to go to work. American Home Shield is very responsive and they do what they say they will do. They explained the process and worked on the claims. I've had three claims since I've moved here and purchased this warranty and I'm very pleased with them. My basement flooded and they ended up declaring it a FEMA. We had so much rain that the groundwater got too high and flooded the basement. So American Home Shield covered the maximum for that event.

This summer, my AC stopped working and American Home Shield recommended somebody who couldn't come for a week. So I called AHS back and they tried to get them to come earlier. The company couldn't, so AHS gave me someone else who came right out within a day or two and repaired it. I've had three claims total in the three years that I’ve been here and I’ve had excellent responses.

My dishwasher stopped working. I wasn’t getting any water. I got a recommendation from American Home Shield for a repair. But I had to go out of town for two weeks, out of state, so we rescheduled it. A technician came and fixed it within 30 minutes. He had to replace the nozzle. He did a really good job and we were very happy. The dishwasher is running great now.

I appreciated the work that he did. In the beginning, filing a claim was difficult. But finally, I got to talk to someone that helped me immediately. Now that I'm on record with American Home Shield, it's simpler.

I had a leaky toilet and my claim for it started awful. But American Home Shield turned it around. What happened was I submitted the request online and everything was excellent. They texted me back right away that I was assigned Gennaro’s Plumbing and to contact them to set an appointment. I did that. It was on a Sunday. I called on Monday and Gennaro’s Plumbing came out. They are a small plumbing company. A representative from there named Franco, who looked like a little teenager, said there was so much moisture in the bathroom and he was gonna have to get his boss who was in the car. But there was really maybe a tablespoon of water on the floor from where the toilet leaked when you flush it. But I was told there was water everywhere.

This second guy comes in with Franco and he immediately said that there was so much mold. There was so much water damage that he could see. He took this little blue forky thing and he put it on the wall and said it was so wet over there as well as over other places. I'm like, “What are you talking about? It’s just the toilet.” But he said that it was because all this stuff was happening with the toilet every time I flushed it. I was like, “How do you even know any of that’s happening? You haven't even looked at what's wrong with the toilet.” There was no way that it was on either side of the walls. And it was in my other bathroom too, he said. It was crazy.

He goes on to tell me that, together, we could get my whole bathroom remodeled. He was gonna call this third-party company called Clear Coast Restoration. They were going to come in and photograph my bathroom as this disastrous wet mess. After which we could call my homeowner's insurance and we could tell them that the bathroom was flooded and they would pay for an entirely new bathroom. It would no longer be with American Home Shield. I told him that I didn't need a new bathroom and just needed the leaky toilet fixed. But he said, “No. But we can get it. And it's okay that you're gonna wet the towels and put them on the floor. It's not staging. All you're doing is bringing to a visual what the problem is.” It sounded illegal.

Clear Coast Restoration came in and American Home Shield had no idea about this. When I called them, they clarified that. This Clear Coast Restoration Company said they needed a $500 deposit and they needed me to sign a contract with them. They were gonna set up a lockbox on my door so that they could come in and out even when I was not home. They needed to jackhammer the floor too and would need to cut the entire wall behind the bathroom. That was when he got my attention because he said he was gonna put it as a soft sewage something. I was like, “Wait a minute. Sewage what’s that? There’s no sewage here. All it is is inside the toilet. I think it’s because the bolt came off or something.”

I get scared and started crying. I told them I needed to talk to my husband because I couldn't sign anything. I'm alone at home with my three kids when this man was in my house telling me I needed to sign this contract. And if I didn't sign it, I would be putting everyone in my home at risk because of this water damage and mold. But it’s impeccable in that bathroom and the only problem was that the wax ring was loose underneath and it came off.

I finally got the guy to leave as nicely as possible. I called back to American Home Shield and the girl that answered said that the tech said the problem was due to my uneven floor. That was where the leak was from. But that could not be the case. I'm not being conceited that my bathroom floor is perfect, but it's not uneven. I asked what tool the tech put down for measurement to say that the floor was uneven. If he was using his eyeballs, then so was. There was no possible way the floor was uneven and I could lay down on the floor and show that to the rep.

The rep said they could send out a second opinion plumber. But if that plumber came back and said it was the uneven floor, they were gonna charge me another $100. I told her that was not fair. First of all, they sent out an awful company. I was not gonna stand for this. She then said, “If you're so sure it's not the floor, then you have nothing to worry about.” I let it go saying, “You know what, whatever.” I called back the next day. This was when it started to turn around. I talked to this very nice man and he said that the $100 was gonna be charged if the tech came back. He told me not to worry as he had a strong feeling it was not gonna be that way. I agreed with him because I knew it was not the floor.

They sent out Direct Plumbing or Plumbers Direct. From the moment David got here, he told me, “Don't worry, if this is all it is, you're absolutely right.” He moved the toilet to look at what was wrong. We had to even wait for him to come back a second time because the first time was for a second opinion so he couldn’t fix anything until it was approved. But I didn't even mind waiting anymore because he was so wonderful and kind. He took his time. He confirmed everything I said. There was no water on the wall. I told him that my kids take a bath here and that was probably why it was wet on the little floorboard on that particular corner because they splash. And when my kid is going back and forth in the bathtub, that was where the water came out.

David explained everything to me and he double-checked everything that other awful plumber said. He said that none of what they said was true. He took care of the problem and fixed it today. Overall, I would like for American Home Shield to do better a homework on companies they are referring to come to the house. Other than that, it's great to have the home warranty. Every time we had a problem, they solved it.

They took longer than I was expecting for the initial appointment, but once they came into the house and they made the diagnosis, a week after, they solved them both. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield has been simple and good. They could improve on their response times though. Sometimes, the call center takes a while for them to respond. The webpage can be easier and faster, but the call center takes a lot for a claim to be processed. They could also recommend the best vendors. Sometimes in the past, they sent those vendors that are not too good. A couple years ago, they sent the same guy. He made like six visits for the same issue. After the sixth one, they sent another one who fixed it the first time he came.

They wanna come out the same day, but I was busy. I was having low pressure and I was having a leak from my pool pump. I thought that perhaps my pool pump being leaking, there was a problem with it that was causing the low pressure.

The technician troubleshot the pump and said there was nothing wrong with it, was able to tighten up some different lines and some of the associated equipment. He took a look at it just to make sure there was nothing else that was causing the problem. He gave me a thorough rundown and everything was good. The pressure is still a little bit low, but it might be the filtration system. I'm gonna have to take a look at that myself. But what I initially thought was the problem based on the leaking of the pump itself is not. I'm extremely satisfied with American Home Shield.

I was a little frustrated because I felt like if one had water damage or something like a commode leaking, it shouldn't take 24 hours for anybody to come out, which was not his fault. But then when he came out, he was excellent. He had his face shield on.

The only thing I don't like with American Home Shield is the time that it takes for their contractors to come out. Since I bought this townhouse, I've had two water instances, and it's taken two to three days before the contractors even come and two or three days before somebody even calls me. I think that turn around when getting a little water should be faster. They answer right away and take my information right away. But then it is getting my claim done. When I'm doing a water, they could tell me if I broke something, and I'm waiting on them come for the refrigerator, there’s nothing I could do ‘cause I couldn't control the water. Then it was $500 when I started up with American Home Shield. This year, as I was looking at renewing, it's like $700 some.

I had a pressure valve problem. American Home Shield didn't have anywhere on their online system where I can give an explanation as to what is going on. They need to put an area where I can give a description as to what is happening. I didn't know what to put down other than a faucet issue because it was the closest choice available to the problem I had. Still, the tech from the repair company that came out was very good. My water heater was replaced in January and the tech had to replace a part of that because the pressure getting to it had ruined the pop-off valve. AHS should be able to determine whether people with their insurance have a handicapped person in the house and expedite them. I had to wait four days to have service people get out to my location and I have a handicapped person in my house. Not having hot water available creates a problem.

I never heard from that guy and when I called Home Shield, the reps said that they thought that the guy resolved the problem. They then sent somebody else out. Still, I was without a washing machine for three weeks. It was a very sloppy job.

With my recent claim for an AC issue, Home Shield handled it excellently. I submitted my claim by phone and I was very surprised that one of their contractors was out within three hours. I've had about seven homes insured with AHS and I've been okay with their warranty. But once I get my new AC system put in, I will probably no longer use them.

My refrigerator was not working. I put in a call to American Home Shield and put the claim in on September the 2nd. My refrigerator had already been out over the weekend. They assigned me to AJ’s Appliance, and they finally did call me. They didn't call me first. I initiated the contact. But then, they couldn't come out for another week and a half. I was going almost two weeks without my refrigerator.

When they finally did come out, the gentleman came in here and he just opened the refrigerator. He didn't take a panel loose. He didn't do anything. I didn't see him use any equipment at all. He said, “Oh, the control board on the refrigerator has gone out. We have to order one.” He just left. Then, he claimed that they had to wait for it to come from American Home Shield, instead of them ordering the part locally because we're here in Michigan. They said they had to order it from American Home Shield. American Home Shield has to send the parts to the contractor, and that causes a delay.

It took another week or so before the part came in. The guy came in and put the part in, and then told us we had to defrost our refrigerator. There was some coil in the back of the refrigerator that remains frozen because the freezer was over-freezing. The refrigerator wasn't working at all. We defrosted our freezer, took everything out, left the door open and let it thaw out really good. We lost a lot of food, and still we put everything back, turned it on, but the refrigerator was still not working. I called them back. They had a lot of excuses.

So, I called American Home Shield to complain about it. They sent a second contractor out, Lucas Appliance. At least, he came in here with tools. He took a panel board off in the refrigerator and he looked at it and he said, “Oh this is a problem with the coils. Unfortunately, our company does not do coil work.” He said, “You're gonna have to have a company come in that does coil work.” He put the panel back on there. We put everything back and he said, “I'm gonna let American Home Shield know that they need to send out another contractor.” In the meantime I'm calling, I've been now like three weeks without my refrigerator. I called American Home Shield back to see if they can expedite matters to get this done. It took days but they sent another contractor out CML Appliance. They're supposed to be the coil specialists.

When their guy came in, he said it's not a problem with the coil but a problem with the damper. I got three different diagnoses from three different companies. He said, “Now we have to order the part, blah, blah.” We've been waiting over a week for this part. I found out in a call to American Home Shield that the part was just ordered on the 6th. Today is the 8th, so this part was just ordered. They transferred me to the parts department. They said we don't have an order. Nobody ordered this part.

I kept calling yesterday. Chris, who is the owner of CML Appliance, said he was gonna contact his account manager over at American Home Shield to see if she could give them authorization to get the part here locally in Michigan where they get it quicker. I haven't heard from him. The business day is winding down. It was a horrible experience. American Home Shield's customer service department is terrible. There are long waits on hold. You're left on hold for an hour or more just to try to resolve an issue. Each time that I've had a problem, I've had to call and be put on hold. I have now spent hours on hold with American Home Shield. The follow-up is very bad as to making sure that these contractors are doing what they're supposed to do. Waiting for them to order parts is another problem. I'm totally dissatisfied.

We had a door that we couldn't get shut. Then, it would seem like it was leaking water out that door because it wasn't shut solid. My husband said the guy from Ashley Appliance Service replaced the latch. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was very difficult. At the beginning, it was hard to get ahold of them. What happened was I had called in for a service call and they said, "Okay, let me set you up a ticket." They gave me a vendor that was an hour away from here, which is fine if they come here. But they said they could not be here for two and a half weeks. We're not going to go without our washing machine for two and a half weeks when we got our service. We've always had a home warranty service, and it would be reasonable for three days max. You call them and they call you, and then the third day, they're out here. Two weeks was not acceptable.

You're gonna have to call them and get a different vendor. My problem was trying to call and get connected to somebody to get a different vendor that could come sooner. I left messages twice on a recorded thing that said, "If you wanna leave your message, we'll call you back." I never got called back. It was on Monday when I started this. So finally, on Thursday, I got ahold of somebody. I got to really talk to somebody, and they gave me another vendor. He would be calling me that evening, and he did and he came the next day.

It took a week to get the confirmation on whether I was gonna get it fixed before the weekend. But I could never talk to anybody at American Home Shield. I kept getting recorded messages. Twice, they had said that, and I never got called back. But then, I finally got some nice young lady and she was able to help me and we did what we needed to do. The guy from Ashley was really good. He was nice, informative and professional. He was on time when he said he would be here and he was here. He was a good vendor. In fact, he said he has American Home Shield and he said they're a very good company.

I went through the billing department and I got immediate service when it was about my bill. I couldn't get a service when I wanted to get my work order. I kept getting messages. I never got to talk to anybody. But when I said, "Punch one, yes, about my billing," which it was a bill because of my concern which was upsetting to me. AHS charged me $100 on Monday, and I didn't get service until Friday. They took my money, but I couldn't talk to anybody. So I went through billing and the rep was able to help me just like if I went with somebody else. I went through an option that I shouldn't have had to because I should've been able to go with about my claim. Also, there was no option saying, "Vendors are needed to be reassigned. I need to reassign this. My vendor can't come help me." I had to go through an option that wasn't related to what I wanted just so I could get to talk to somebody.

I got my service. I got what I needed. But I don't think AHS should've charged me until somebody came and made my service. I don't think I should've had to pay them anything when I hadn't even talked to the vendor yet. That was a little upsetting. I've never paid for anything and not got anything in return. It took me five days to get something in return. So, I think that they took the money a little too soon.

The unit was working more than it should. 10 days later, it stopped cooling. So I called again and had them come out. But at the end of the day, they took care of it and they fixed it.

American Home Shield has vendors that they screen first and then send out to check out the problem. I like the convenience of having it, especially for emergencies because sometimes, I don't know which company to call. It makes sense that I can call somebody that has a list of vendors to use. This way, when I make a claim, I don't have to go through six companies to find the right one. I'm very satisfied with them.

Within a couple of days or a week, there was a horrible smell coming from it. It wasn't draining. This guy came out and he was wonderful. He checked the little drain thing on the sink. He discovered that the pump was not working so he went down to Chula Vista to do other stuff, came back later with the pump and put the pump in.

The dishwasher is operating now. It's operating better than it's operated since I bought it so I gave him an A-plus. He was very good and extremely thorough. I told him he was the best person who's ever efficient for that dishwasher. He went way beyond the call of duty. He was investigating what other things might be going on. He wound up doing a whole bunch of things to the drain thing and also fixed the pump. It is draining and the dishes are cleaning just like when I got this dishwasher. I was ready to drop American Home Shield and just go with Lowe's ‘cause they also have a very good handyman who comes out. Because of him, I'm not dropping it. The only claim I've submitted was a leak from a dishwasher. I went on the website and scheduled the repair. However, it took a week to get somebody out here. But last time they came out, they checked the dishwasher and ran it and it wasn’t leaking. I wasn't excited about having to pay the deductible and not having anything wrong, but that was just the way it happened. Overall, American Home Shield was great, very prompt, and quick. It went the way it should have.

We had no hot water. Then the hot water heater had a little bit of water. The guy from Advanced Home Services came out and he said, "Oh, it needs to be replaced. It's leaking on the outside and the base needs to be replaced. But they didn't give me a base to replace it.” He told me everything, and then they quoted me $775. I said, "That's a lot of money, if I have warranty. That's ridiculous."

And I said, "Why do the base need to be replaced? Because we just bought this home and it passed inspection with the base the hot water heater's on." They said, "No, no. It has to be replaced. And they charge you for it." I asked how much do they charge, and it was like $300. Home Depot sells them for $35. The guy said, "Well, they charge you 350. Do you want me to get the base and bring it back or do you wanna talk to the boss?" I talked to the boss. They didn't include the base. He said, "Oh, I'll credit you the money back." I ended up paying them like $430 for it.

I submit claims to American Home Shield online, and I gotta pay in advance, which is not right. I'm paying and I don't even know when my appointment is. With the hot water heater, I went online. The problem is nobody answers the phone, and when they do, they're in the Philippines. They don't understand you, you're repeating yourself. I've gotten so frustrated with American Home Shield because you can't talk to anybody. When you do, it's these people and you repeat yourself. When I tell them I wanna speak to a manager, they won't give you to a manager. I have three houses with American Home Shield. I am so frustrated with them. When my contract's up, I'm not gonna renew. It's a fight for everything. It's an argument. They don't wanna do anything. Yet, I gotta pay $100 co-pay even before I know when they're gonna come and look at the property.

The contractors are okay. They're just doing their job. I even posted on American Home Shield's page on Facebook. It says, "I hate American Home Shield." You should see the people. In one of my rental properties, the compressor in the air conditioner took three weeks to get fixed. It was in the middle of summer and it was over 100 degrees. I had to go out and buy portable fans and air conditioners for my tenant. They use COVID as an excuse. "Because of COVID, we don't have the part in stock. We have to order it." That's not my problem. That's not my tenants' problem.

But all that the tech did was reset a button on it and they charged me $75 for that. I was kind of displeased about that.

We closed on our house August 30th of last year. The owners provided the home warranty from American Home Shield for the first year. We used it to rekey. We also had a dishwasher and plumbing issue which was handled efficiently and effectively. We decided to go ahead and keep the coverage so we keep renewing. I talked to the lady and I thought that she put the renewal through. But the payment was not taken out and I didn't catch that.

When we ended up having the problem, I was informed that I was not a customer. I told them I just did the renewal. Unfortunately, that hit on the week that our mortgage was due so we first paid our mortgage and had to wait the following week to pay the 70-whatever it was. Other than that, we're satisfied with American Home Shield. The company that came for the dryer that stopped hearing was very punctual. My only complaint is I got numerous texts about who'd been assigned, that they'd be contacting me, and my appointment schedule. But they very professional.

We called and no response from AHS, we went with the repair but it didn't work, called again AHS and a different person from the same company came, different diagnosis, out of pocket $1445, called AHS no support, Service One said, not covered by AHS, this repair also didn't work, called AHS and they send the same company, third person comes in, now they say it is the board, AHS, now sends a letter that board is not covered, by the way this is the only communication from AHS, checked our contract and they should have replaced AC if not fixable, I think this is irresponsible.

I want to cancel AHS service but there is no way in the website to do this. This is terrible, that a prestigious company like AHS just drops the clients like they don't care. We ended up with a different company and had to replace our AC completely, they reviewed the board and it was not damaged, Service One put in the cheapest compressor they could find and charged us more than it was worth. AHS says they are not responsible for the contractors. Then what are they good for?

AHS had SNL Appliance Repair out for an appliance issue and they were excellent. I have two freezers. The first freezer was done but with the second freezer, the tech couldn't resolve it. For the first one, the tech knocked it out in 20 minutes. He fixed whatever that machine was and opened the line up. He then started work on the second one for a good 40 minutes but said he couldn't get the thing to open. It was too damaged to repair. He kept working on but eventually gave up as he didn't know what else to do. He wrote it up that way.

With the way he was opening the line, the first one opened up really fast and he said the second one should have done the same thing. Either the line was smashed or it was blocked. The tech's machine won’t go through and finish the job. I asked what was gonna happen and he said he cleaned all the other part out. I probably have a couple of days, maybe a week, before it would start backing up again on the second one. Sure enough, he was right. The freezer started backing up a week later and it was causing problems again. But as far as services and professionalism, SNL was excellent. The tech was on time.

On the whole, I'm okay with AHS. There were some times on the other issues that it took a minute before getting somebody out there. But when they came out, everybody was backed up and needing the same thing. That was the problem. It wasn’t their service but the people that they were utilizing that had a lot of calls. But generally, for something I can’t handle myself, I call AHS and tell them I need. They are usually pretty quick on getting back to me and pretty quick on getting the thing resolved. I recommended AHS to some younger people. I said, “Before anything happens, get it now. Don’t even think about it. It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it.”

I told him what had happened and he said he would call American Home Shield. He did and he testified because we did not even get rain from hurricane Sally. The problem was the motors went out in the doors.

Overhead Door was excellent. The tech checked on the garage doors to see if they could be fixed. They said the motors were completely dead and they were gonna have to change them out. He called American Home Shield and got everything approved and changed them out. The garage doors have been perfect since then and this repair has helped us tremendously. I would recommend him. There were two different technicians but they both did a fine job. One was for the outside AC condenser fan that went bad. It was making a big squealing noise where the bearings wrapped. They came out here and fixed that. They took care of it in a timely manner. The other was for the air conditioner blower fan that wasn't working. The guy came out here and there was a piece of foam in the blower cage that was keeping the fan from turning. We couldn't figure out where it came from. Also, there was a capacitor that wasn't at the high enough level to energize the fan to turn it on quicker. The guy replaced that, cleaned everything out, replaced that capacitor, and it's working just fine.

American Home Shield could make it easier for older people to get through and get a claim started. They were kinda concerned when I talked to them on the last air conditioning issue. They said, "We just fixed your air conditioner.” However, there was a second problem not related to the first problem. They were kinda questioning.

My son has a two-story house and he has one air conditioner for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. But this here just has one and it's not big enough to cool and to sustain this house, especially when we get that 110 degrees like we did last month.

We woke up pretty early in the morning with the power flickering in the house. The lights were turning on and off and the refrigerator’s compressor was turning on and off and beeping and the alarm was going off. I tried to figure out what the problem was. When I flipped the breakers, we lost all power to all outlets in the house. We were worried that there was some problem on our end so I put in a claim for an electrician through American Home Shield sometime in the morning. Then I immediately got the contractor information and I was able to reach out to them. I was pretty impressed with how quick that was, especially with the importance of not having power.

The electricians came out promptly and were able to determine that it was a problem with our power provider. The reason why the outlets weren't working but the lights were working was because the breaker box, only one leg was receiving power so we were getting 110, but not 220. I called our Virginia Dominion power and they came out and a few hours later, they were able to get everything fixed. Then they just checked our box to make sure everything was good and power was back. So we were mainly concerned that there was something wrong with our breaker or appliances or something but we were pretty grateful to find that it wasn't related to us.

I We've done claims a couple of times on a couple of other things, and we haven't had a problem with AHS yet on that. I was happy with the service but we're selling the house. So, we decided to cancel it. I'd had it for six years and I was rather surprised to be charged a cancellation fee. I couldn't argue it because it's part of the contract. But in the future, the loyal customers should be given some sort of a benefit out of it. It's not like I had it once and I only had it for a year and then I cancelled it.

I've been using American Home Shield for years and they've been great. Any time I needed any repairs done, they usually took care of it right away. It's pretty easy to do a claim. You do it online and it takes not even a couple minutes. They automatically assign a contractor and they give you the contractor's information. Usually, a contractor reaches out or you can reach out to the contractor. They usually get you scheduled in pretty fast. American Home Shield has resolved all my issues and it's definitely worth the money. The contractors are clean, efficient, professional, courteous and on time. American Home Shield vets their contractors pretty well.

I know that AHS is flooded now, especially with more and more people homebound and working from home, and probably using appliances more and what have you across the board. But I'm a big, strong advocate, and I'm a real estate agent, so I sell policies as well to buyers and sellers. And sometimes I give those as housewarming gifts. So, personally and professionally, I use American Home Shield.

I've had great results from AHS, so far and their claims process has not been bad at all. I've had either product replacement or cash in lieu. I also generally got the problems solved and I've had not too many cases where the fine print said that my claim was not covered. Plus, I haven't had any sort of difficulties getting something taken care of. So that's a real peace of mind because it's basically an insurance policy. So, you use the warranty or you lose it. It's great if things don't break down, but it comes in handy when something does happen, especially unexpectedly and you need to get somebody out there to take care of the problem. Recently, I submitted a plumbing claim where Cal-Home Construction came out and my experience was great. I was happy with the professionalism and they solved the problem.

There were 2 technicians that came and they were early. They called ahead of time. They were very nice and did it very quickly. They also discovered that when they were out here, the computer panel is going out.

It had been incredibly hot this summer in Georgia and the AC didn't seem like it was getting cool enough. We had to run it almost all day and our electricity bills were up $225. They usually run about 150, but that's when it's not quite as hot. But at the time, we had 60 days in a row that were over 95 degrees. We submitted a claim with AHS and the techs came out and looked at it. They checked the air temperature and the Freon. And they said there was really nothing that could make it work any better. So, there wasn't really anything wrong with it. Now that it’s cooled off a little bit, it's working fine and it is not on all the time. It is just that it's a 10 year old unit. So the older the unit, the harder they have to work sometimes.

Other than that, I talked to the guys who came out and they showed the pressure on the thing. They said it was not leaking Freon and that the Freon level was good. They also went upstairs, checked the unit on the top, and it wasn’t clogged up. Then they looked at the little vents on the side and wiped them off a little bit, but they said they weren't really dirty either. They said they were actually in pretty good shape. After that, a fluorescent light went out and the tech that AHS sent replaced something. He was good, too. All in all, both vendors were nice, polite, clean, confident, and very good.

Everything was fine with G.M. Smith Electric. It was a second referral because the first contractor never called me back, never showed up and never scheduled an appointment. Even the representative from American Home Shield tried to reach the contractor, and they never responded to that representative either. So, they scheduled G.M. Smith as a follow-up. The contractor was very prompt. He told me his availability was about four days later. However, he was able to get me in with a schedule change from another consumer. So, that was a good appointment.

He came in. He assessed the situation, looked at the fan, took some things out, and looked around it. He explained the process, too. He called me to let me know what his steps were and that he was waiting to hear back from American Home Shield. Before that happened, I received an email from American Home Shield. They told me I was getting another opinion. The second company came out on that Monday. So, that person attempted to repair the fan as well. He took some things off too and came back and told me the transponder he tried to put in wasn't responding. It didn't work. He did the same thing, told me that he would follow the process and either he would call or American Home Shield because he was requesting a replacement part.

I asked him if he needed to take a picture like the first company did, and he did not. He said he would know. I told him, "Well, please make sure, because as you can see, this is not a basic fan. So, I'm not looking for something, a box or a shelf, to replace this." He said he understood and he would write it up. And that was the extent of it.

I really wanna cancel the contract with American Home Shield because this may be third time I've tried to utilize the services and it's been an issue. So, I don't have anything resolved. Someone told me that the fan would not be replaced because of something about a chain or wear and tear. I said, "No. There is no wear and tear. I'm an adult. The fan has been here for 17 years. What's the wear and tear? I don't have children in my bedroom pulling at anything." When I explained to them that both of their technicians took these things apart and put them back together, I don't know why the second one would say that when he attempted to repair something called a transponder. We never talked about a chain. The case is supposed to be somewhere at the point of escalation, so I don't know what to expect. But I'm not happy with the service at all.

My preference with Home Shield is to talk to someone live. The online process doesn't give you enough opportunity to explain what you mean. My other complaint is they change your contract number every year. That makes no sense. Give me a number that's for two years before you change it or permanent. But they change it every year. Calling in becomes a bit of a problem. In one instance, contractors came out multiple times to fix my washer. Eventually, they trashed it and gave me money to go buy a new one. But it took six times which made no sense at all. At the end of the day, they said, "Well, you need to replace it." But think about it - you pay 70 bucks to get somebody out here, they fix it or they pay for it. Water Heater Solutions recently came out and they were good.

He went to see what the problem was and if it was not fixable with Douglas, he said he would let Home Shield know. Previously, I had a plumbing company out for an issue with a PVC pipe connected to where the hose would go outside my house. The plumbing company didn't do anything. They didn't wanna do the job and I was not very happy with that. They wanted to charge me $350 for them to fix it themselves and said that Home Shield didn't want to cover my issue.

Other companies have told me though that they don't know why AHS wouldn't cover my issue. They said that if the problem was next to my house, AHS should cover up to three feet. Instead, I have to come out-of-pocket and pay somebody to do it. Additionally, AHS charged $100 when nothing was done. I'm still looking around if I can get a better deal with a different company. I'm not satisfied with AHS at all. That was the first time I called regarding plumbing. I'm switching to a different company because they promised they would cover any plumbing issue.

We have a swimming pool, and Pool & Spa Doctors came out after we got solar. Our thermosolar company left the handle open, and then the other side closed. So, we came home to a puddle on the ground. We called Home Shield, then they sent out Pool & Spa Doctors. They said, “Oh, it's because one side is open and the other side is closed.” He turned the handle and said that was it. It was just the solar. But when we turned the machine on for the skimmer to clean the pool water, the sound didn't change, and we called them out because of the sound. They didn't come back. So, we called Home Shield. They said, “They closed the case, it's resolved, and it was something solar, and we don't cover solar.” Sometimes, they don't really know everything, but eventually, they put in an order, which is what I hope happens even if they don't know. That's why they have an expert team that come out whatever the issue is.

I asked for a second opinion so Home Shield sent out the American Canyon group. As soon as the tech went there, he flipped the switch on and said, “Your motor is shut.” Why the other guy didn't hear that, I don't know. But American Canyon heard it. They said, “We're gonna put an order into American Home Shield because you're gonna need another motor.” The water ran completely out from the motor and that sounded because it ran dry for too long. The issue is finally resolved. I'm happy Julian from American Canyon knew the problem right away. With the other ones, there are only two guys on Pool & Spa and they just quick fix, be gone, they're done, which is not very thorough. Also, I would like a faster response time.

I had a water leak underneath my home, and I had to shut off water to the property. Leaving it off, it caused a couple of faucets to start dripping. I called American Home Shield once I discovered it was leaking. A previous company that I had gone through to Home Shield had done the repair. So it was a situation where I thought they would warranty. I did call the plumbing company, Taz Plumbing, and they pretty much said, "Well, we give a 30-day warranty." I was little upset about it because it caused secondary damage.

The same problem I had in November just happened two weeks ago. I figured there'd be some type of warranty, and that plumbing company didn't stand by their work. I was a little upset with it, but Home Shield got me another company, Supreme Plumbing, and they've done work for me in the past and they're excellent. They did a very good job. They said they would even send somebody out if they had been contacted as an emergency situation. That way, we didn't have to go a whole day without water. With the COVID situation, it's kind of dangerous to do that, but we really had no choice.

My experience with Home Shield wasn't any hassle. The job got done and I was pretty happy about that. I wasn't too happy with Taz Plumbing, but it has nothing to do with Home Shield. The only thing I don't like is Home Shield can't get emergency services when the water's out. We live with it because the problem gets resolved. But sometimes, when it's causing secondary damage, it adds a little difficulty for us, a little more expense as well.

Metro Heating was excellent. They were very honest. My furnace wouldn't work and I had had an air conditioner put in in the summer by American Home Shield. The guy walked in and said my gas wasn't turned back on when they replaced my air conditioner. I shouldn't have to pay a deductible for it because it needed to come back on the other person. He also said he'd put it in his paperwork if it'd help me out.

It was pretty frustrating with American Home Shield. The first time, I was on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes. I got ahold of someone but she barely spoke English and could not understand what I was saying. I asked for a supervisor and when she transferred me, she disconnected me so I had to call back in again. I was on the phone for about the same time waiting for someone to come on and help me. I finally got someone who actually spoke English and she took care of me this time.

American Home Shield does what they're supposed to do except for my furnace. I'm also supposed to have a $125 deductible. I've had two major things replaced. I've had a water heater and the air conditioner. Both times, I was out almost $1,000. When they say that you're only out your deductible, that's not true. They said I had to pay for all the stuff that wasn't included like the long things that run through the house. They had to make that fit and that's not covered. There are all these items that are not covered. I am happy that I didn't have to pay $3000 and $4000 for an air conditioner, but still, it's not $125. It's a lot more money. It was like $810 and $125. So, it was like $935.

I am a single female. I've never been married and I have my parents living with me. I've had plumbing issues. I can't do it myself so I have to call someone. American Home Shield has been a lifesaver in taking care of me. However, since a pandemic has hit, the wait time for American Home Shield has been unbelievable. I've been on the phone as long as over two hours waiting for someone to come along and help me. With my wait times on the phone and how much money I've been out, American Home Shield is not very good at all. I've had this for at least 10 years and I've thought about changing. I've even taken it down to only where it’s the big items now because I've replaced most of my appliances.

The washer was not draining all the way. Also, it had a real bad mildew smell in it and the rubber ring on the outside of it was all moldy. I called Home Shield and they told me that someone would be in touch with me within 48 hours, which is what happened. Scott’s Appliance Service came out and the tech took care of all the issues with the washer. He was very knowledgeable and he gave me some tips on how to get a good use of the washer. He told me some things I never knew. The service was excellent.

The tech identified himself and showed us who he was. At the time, we already had a text with his picture. He checked our thermostat and replaced the board. He fixed our issue in 15 minutes and was gone. We've had a really good experience with American Home Shield. They do a fantastic job getting a hold of their contractors, sending us information and telling us that the contractor would be contacting us shortly.

We had a claim for a dryer that's five years old or a little bit more. The timing was incorrect. It wouldn't dry thoroughly and it would run but then it would shut off. The process was fairly easy. Five minutes on the website, put it on the app, the guy contacted me the next day, and he was there within 24 hours and found out the problem and ordered the parts. The part was shipped up within the house and a different individual from Sears arrived and hooked it up, so very easy. This is the first time I've used American Home Shield and they're pretty good.

We had had American Home Shield back in 2009 and probably kept renewing for two or three years. At this point, we can absorb the cost, which was why we picked them again when we bought this house. When submitting claims, just going online and clicking buttons is super easy. Water Solutions came out for a plumbing issue and the technician was super friendly and easy to talk to. He assessed the problem and fixed it. He explained the on and off buttons. We've never had a Jacuzzi tub in the house so he told us how to upkeep it and clean it effectively. He showed me how to use the cut-off switch in case the kids' hair gets sucked in it. I was impressed at how helpful he was.

Previously, when we had AC work, I was gonna have to do all this stuff and the guys did an easy fix. It was just fixing the natural problem instead of finding every other problem. We had a sink disposal replaced earlier this week and the technicians that AHS sent were not trying to upsell me anything. I'm getting sent a good person. I've been impressed with the service providers. The experience with AHS was efficient, fast, thorough and easy.

At certain times of the day, the temperature gauge would go up higher than what I had the thermostat set at. AHS sent someone out. The contractor had to come out twice and it seemed to be fixed. Then about a month or so later, it happened again. AHS sent another company out. That company determined that the coils were dirty. They took pictures and got the okay to do it, took care of it, and did a tremendous job. Everything was clean, but I was still having the same problem with the temperature gauge. The same guys came out again and said that it was hot in the chamber and that we just gotta turn it down to 16 and it’d cool down, and I didn't like that.

AHS sent out a third company and they would be the ones I'm gonna request any time I need an air conditioning problem. The guy checked and did everything. Then, he asked me if we had any bleach. He put some bleach down and he fixed the problem. Now, we have our thermostat set higher than we normally do. Also, the house is cool and the temperature doesn't go higher than what we have it set at.

American Home Shield was great. When I said that I was not satisfied, they made it right and sent someone else and didn't charge me for it. In fact, I'm a Realtor and I recommend American Home Shield to all my customers because they are a good company. My sister lives in Texas and she was with another company, and they were nickel-and-diming her to death. When her contract was up, I told her to call up American Home Shield. She called up my guide and she got the same contract that I have. I'm totally happy with them. They're the only company I would do business with.

For those considering getting a home warranty, when contacting any company, read the fine print because some were offering free months, but if they read between the lines, they might have to wait 60 days or 90 days where they won't cover things. With American Home Shield, they have plans that just cover some things, but I took everything including the appliances, and they are excellent. If it's like what turned out with the coils being cleaned, that was almost 100 bucks. I only paid 75 and American Home Shield paid the difference. It's a tremendous value, especially if having an older home. Be careful before signing on the dotted line.

We were hearing a whistling sound from our pressure release valve. And while that was the main issue, there were a few other little peripheral items that we had put on the ticket as well that CKC Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning was able to look at. They were great. They were very knowledgeable. They took a look at it and said, “You're okay. This isn't a major thing.” Then, they took a look at a few of the other things that were on the ticket and took care of them immediately. We were very happy with them. They would probably be an outside source for us if we ever have to go directly to a plumber for any other related issues, or any issues that we would need. They were very candid, and they tried to make sure that I understood everything that was going on. So, we were very impressed with them.

The only thing with American Home Shield is that it seems that it's not an issue to have something fixed until it's like a major issue. For instance, if I had a leaking pipe, that may or may not be as big an issue as if the pipe bursts. It's not more or less preventive maintenance, as much as it's like the last stand sort of thing. Having said that, we've been very happy with the service. We've also been very happy with the turnaround time when the contractors come out to fix things. We've always had a positive experience with American Home Shield.

My dishwasher just went dead. The tech from company that came out to repair the dishwasher was a great individual and was very informative. He told me that the computer and the parts that were needed were done with, and he advised me that there's a likely chance that the parts that needed to be replaced will be replaced or the whole dishwasher would just be replaced. He got on the phone, and then I was advised that they would not be replacing the dishwasher. They would just be replacing the parts. Afterwards, he spoke with an American Home Shield representative and told me that it would be about a week and a half before the parts would be received. It seemed a bit long.

Submitting a claim has always been smooth with American Home Shield. I would probably have renewed my contract but due to COVID, loss of hours and my whole financial situation, I have to cut back on a couple of services that I deem essential for me. AHS has been a great help but I just can't afford it right now. Hopefully, in the near future, I'll get back on and move forward.

American Home Shield has great contractors. I've never had a bad experience with any of the contractors that have ever serviced any appliances in my home. American Home Shield is a great service. It takes a lot of the headaches out of worrying about when appliances will break. It's really a peace of mind. We usually don't necessarily think of appliances breaking down and being a headache until it happens. You have to go through this whole ordeal of trying to find a credible individual to come into your home, service it properly, and then if there's a warranty, and so forth. American Home Shield pretty much takes care of all of that.

Unfortunately, out of all my experiences, this last experience was a bit odd. So, I called to touch base about Saturday, which I was under the impression that I would have a rep come out to replace the parts. I was just told that Saturday is no longer going to happen because the parts are on backorder and they don't know when they're going to receive the parts. So, I'm kinda just left in limbo.

Prior to this last experience, I would have definitely referred to them as far as any friend of mine. I would definitely tell them, "Hey, check them out." I was introduced to American Home Shield from a co-worker of mine who was telling me, "Hey, you have rental properties..." His rental properties are under American Home Shield. He said, "It makes that whole ordeal just seamless as far as worrying about tenants, worrying about their appliances. That headache is no longer when you have American Home Shield." Since I just recently purchased my property, he said, "Look into it, give it a year. And then afterwards, if you don't like it, get rid of it."

A technician came and discovered that the condenser outside went out. He told me that he was gonna go ahead and file a claim, which he did. He led me to believe that the condenser American Home Shield was gonna provide was on backorder for three weeks, which wasn't the case. When I called American Home Shield, the lady that answered the phone told me that the technician should have it by Monday. It was hot and the technician was trying to pressure me into getting a unit from them for $3,400 which was outrageous to me. He flat-out lied and he shouldn't have done that. I didn't appreciate it.

I called twice just to see what I was gonna do because the technician told me that what American Home Shield was gonna give me would be a builder grade unit and it wouldn't last long. I felt like that was him telling me there was a conflict of interest. When the technician called on Monday, he said the unit was in and asked if I wanted him to come the next day. But we were in the middle of a tropical storm. The technician said they could bring their tents and this and that. But I told him I've waited this long and I could wait until Thursday when the weather had blown over. After the condenser was replaced, the unit has been working fine.

One other thing is I live outside the city limits. I was told it would cost me $800 to bring everything up to code as far as the technician replacing the condenser on the outside. It was my understanding that if you live outside the city, then updating or getting it up to code doesn't apply. But before I realized it, they got my $800. I'm gonna follow up on that. American Home Shield told me that would be my out of pocket cost and the contractor said the same thing. I don't believe that and I'm still investigating that piece of it. I want American Home Shield to make this $800 right.

Also, before we even got around to ordering that replacement condenser unit, I specifically told the lady at American Home Shield that I have a Rheem outside. I asked if they were gonna go back with the Rheem to which she said yes. I asked her twice and got the same answer. But when I talked back with the contractor, he said no. It does say in my contract that American Home Shield can replace it with a unit of their choice. But I was promised the Rheem and didn't get it. I called and asked for a manager. I'm still waiting on the call back from the manager. American Home Shield does not stand behind their word. I am dissatisfied with the service that I received from their customer service.

We were having a problem with our garbage disposal, and I had two people come out for it. The first one that came out had said that there was a foreign object down there, but there wasn't. They sent out somebody else to give a second opinion. They confirmed it wasn't a foreign object. It was a piece of food that had gotten lodged in and they needed to replace it.

When it comes to submitting a claim to American Home Shield, we have the availability to do both online and call. I find it easier to make a phone call. So, I always call them if I had something that's going on and there's never an issue. We've had some good contractors and we've had some bad ones. We've had issues with our air conditioning unit off and on during the summer. American Home Shield sent out three people. They were never able to get it fixed. We had paid like 300 and something dollars in the claims. They all came up with a different reasoning for our air conditioning. Finally, when we had gotten too frustrated, we hired our own person and the problem has been resolved. So, AHS got some good people that come out, and then there are other ones that are not that fantastic. It depends on the situation. We've used American Home Shield, unfortunately, quite a bit and for the most part, there's never really an issue.

The second tech came out and he didn't have the water pump. So now, they had to order the water pump. Then, we have to go out of town. I really think that my money should be refunded for the amount of money that I paid just to get the first service guy out there. It's ridiculous. I should not be sitting here waiting on an air conditioner to be fixed three weeks later. If it had been 110 degrees, they would have been hearing from me directly every hour on the hour.

Also, submitting the claims has never been easy. My husband had to call like six times. He said the American Home Shield representatives were difficult to talk to, and a lot of times, you couldn't even get through to them. You’d be put on hold and they never come back. It was once the contractor got here and said, "No. I'm sorry. We don't install fans." He installed one full install of one fan. The other fan, he just needed to help with the blades. What happened was we hired someone else to do it, but they didn't do it right. The first time the came out, he fixed the lighting because they messed up the fan installation to the point where we couldn't even turn the light on. And he said he would have to come back next time to put on the blades. I have a concern about the second fan he installed because it's not flushed with the ceiling. Home Shield themselves is fine. It's worth the price.

It's easy to submit claims. I usually do it online. I tried to call in before but was unable to get anyone. This is a secondary problem. We already tried to have the problem fixed once with the prior claim for the same thing. But I felt that technician didn't wanna be here. He didn't even investigate it. So, we just waited a while and stopped using that sink, and it kept leaking there. Then, we called Home Shield again to have someone else come out to look and see because the other guy told us we didn't have a leak, but we did. The recent guy didn't do it either. But he got in there and looked, which made me happy. We just started using the sink again. We're waiting to see if anything happens now. He was confused as well, but it made me happy that he looked because the first guy didn't even care. He acknowledged there was actually something going on.

The only thing that I don't like, sometimes, it's an emergency. In the hottest days of the summer in Houston, it is really hot. 114 was the heat index. And you have to wait 24 hours for someone to come out. There is no way to get someone when you have an emergency. We had to go and stay in a motel because we have little dogs that can't stand that kind of heat and we couldn't get anyone to come and check it out. But overall, my experience with Home Shield has been fairly decent. I really liked them a lot better than the company we had before them.

Our air conditioner went out. The contractor gave us a three-hour time frame. Then they called us and said that they would come in about half an hour. They were great, knowledgeable, and tremendous. We got cold air since the repair. Everything’s been fair with American Home Shield. I just started with them and I’m very impressed. They followed up with us and they were excellent. In fact, recommended them to my brother and my sister too.

American Home Shield's coverage is a little bit better than all the other companies out there. I did a claim and they sent Techpro for my freezer because my water detect button was no longer working. It was leaking water because there was excess buildup at the bottom. Techpro had to let it thaw out and get that drainage valve fixed and situated. They took care of all of it. The technician was very professional.

The company that American Home Shield sent was hard to reach several times. So, they just fixed it yesterday. The repair took very long but the dryer was okay once it was fixed. AHS is great whenever we need a claim.

Alpine Plumbing & Heating came to check my hot water heater and my furnace. I had two water leaks downstairs. They went in and replaced my hot water heater because it was bad. They fixed some leaks and checked my garbage disposal and my sink. They worked on a lot of different stuff and they did a great job. I was really happy with it. I also had a claim to have somebody come out and take a look at my appliances and American Home Shield sent another gentleman out to do that.

But I've called and been on hold for two or three hours at a time and I couldn't get anybody to tell me what was going on with my oven. It's a freestanding gas range. I talked to the serviceman a couple of times and he's not sure what's going on too. Apparently, American Home Shield trying to order a part for it but I can't get anybody to talk to me. I am not super happy with trying to get in touch with people at American Home Shield. People don't have two or three hours to wait on hold. And I get shifted from one person to another. Finally got back to the department where I was supposed to talk to someone to find out when they were going to order the part or what status was. I was on hold for another hour. But then I had to go back to work. I wasn't too thrilled about that.

But I've been super happy with the work that Alpine Plumbing & Heating has done. There was also the gentleman named Brian from Fix Right Appliance. He was great. He called me and asked if I was able to get any information on what was going on. I said no and told him about the day I spent three hours on the phone. He was gonna reach out to American Home Shield and try to figure out if they are gonna order a part, do they have it, and if he is gonna install it. That was last week and I haven't heard back from him. I'm just waiting. With the cold weather here in Montana now, I'd like to start baking but my oven won't hold the temperature. It will heat it but when it calls for more heat, it won't relight the burner. I know times are difficult and American Home Shield probably got a lot of calls.

A lot of what I've struggled with is not necessarily their problem. But they could make it easier to get in touch with somebody. From what I've heard, American Home Shield is really a good company and one of the best when it comes to home warranties, at least in my area. And I've talked to people like the gentleman that owns Fix Right and also Alpine Plumbing & Heating and they told me that this is one of the best companies that they've worked with. But I'd like them to make it easier to get in touch with a real person. Everybody in America would say the same thing when it comes to an automated service. I like knowing that they're getting to it. But I'm sure they'll eventually get the problem fixed. It just might take us a little bit. The holdup is probably that they may not be able to find the part to the oven. My home is about 20 years old.

Also, I initially had problems with American Home Shield for nearly a year. It was because the previous homeowner never bothered to forward the email information to me so that I could register. Anytime I would go in and put my address and my email address and try to log in, the website would tell me that wasn't accurate. About a week before the policy was gonna expire, I called my real estate agent and she was able to get ahold of somebody. We figured out what had happened. American Home Shield kept saying they sent me an email and I said they didn't.

My real estate agent reached out to the seller's real estate agent and found out that instead of buying a two-year policy, they only purchased a one-year policy and the owner had never forwarded me the information so I couldn't make a claim. But it worked out in the end. That was not American Home Shield's fault but the seller's. In the end, we had a renewal so we've got our second year.

ATR General Services was sent out for a pre-season checkup and that went very well. The guy was very professional. There wasn't a repair with the heating. He just reminded me that I change my filter within a month, and that was what he recommended for the heating. Then 49 Garage Door came out and did the garage door. The guy’s name was Mike. The window was between 3:00 and 5:00 and he showed up at exactly 3 o'clock. He had the mask on and he did all his checks and whatnot.

We found out what the problem was. There are sensors at the bottom of the door of the garage, one on the left and one on the right, and one has red light then one has green light. The one that had the green light was bad and that was the reason why the door wasn't stopping. He explained that to me. He corrected it and I was very satisfied with the results. I needed to make sure that I move my trashcan so that I won't accidentally hit my trashcan to that sensor so I've got all that taken care of. The first thing we had was the plumbing and that worked out very well too. It was really great working with American Home Shield.
