This is my second year with American Home Shield and I am happy with them from the get-go. I continued it on. I had a microwave issue and they came right out. Then recently, I had a leak coming and it was something to do with my icemaker. A line might have folded or broken. Sears came and fixed it. It works great now.

The air conditioning unit was not blowing. I called the 1-800 number for American Home Shield and did a claim. Central Heating & Air Conditioning came out. The tech was great, very professional and knew his job. He knew exactly what to do. He was not here more than 25 minutes, and he got it up and running. The air conditioning is working fine but the heat, all of a sudden, stopped working now. I was thinking about calling AHS back because it seemed like the heat is still not blowing the way it's supposed to. Yesterday was the first time I put the heat on since the tech came out and fixed the unit. I didn't have to put it on because it was hot. Yesterday was the first cold day and I tried to put the heat on and it's like barely blowing.

My air conditioner upstairs was blowing hot air. I called American Home Shield and they sent out Air Control Experts. The tech told me that my coil was leaking and that it would have to be replaced. He had to order a part and as soon as he got it, he installed it. Everything has been working fine since. Overall, I like AHS's system. However, I would like to know how much the whole repair costs. I want to know what they paid and what my cost was.
Thanks for sharing your feedback.

American Home Shield has been easy to deal. They're straightforward in terms of the process, getting someone out and assigning a claim quickly. I hope that as they continue to grow, that doesn't change because sometimes businesses grow and they become harder to do business with. Things become complicated. But so far, things have been going really well in terms of being able to use them and getting stuff done. We had some lights in the house that weren't coming on. I filed a claim and everything went fine.

I get email updates from American Home Shield. When I had a claim, I clicked on the link to login to my portal and then I submitted it through there. It was a super easy process. Once it was received, then I got an update that it was being assigned to Morningstar and that they would be reaching out. Morningstar was fantastic. They were very quick and worked with me on calling or texting me when the tech was gonna be on his way. He gave me the timeframe. That way, I could just leave my office and meet him at the house.
Since the repair, our dishes are really clean now. It helps when the dishwasher can heat up and do what it needs to do. The tech really spent the time to look through it, what the problem was, kinda let me know after the fact and what he replaced. The only thing is my husband noticed that there was an oil spot in our driveway. It would be recommended that the contractors not park in a customer's driveway for that reason.
Everything's been going great with American Home Shield. I've had two claims with them in the last couple months. One was with the garbage disposal because my son put a rock in there apparently. That was why it wasn't working. The plumber who came for it was really great. Morningstar was very great, too, and they took care of the problem. So far, my experience in the last couple months has been really great. Sometimes, home warranty companies get kind of a stigma, and I've shared before that I'm very happy with American Home Shield.

I did two separate claims on the site. I needed my icemaker fixed and the company responded right away. The AC company took a while. My AC went out for about three days and I called multiple times, left voicemails, but no one got back to me. So I submitted another claim and that was when they got back to me. That part was a bit annoying. I'm assuming that's not on American Home Shield's end, that's on the AC company’s end. But once I spoke to someone, it was fine. They scheduled a date and they came out and got the work done. They were brief. The guy was pretty professional. He explained what he was going to do after he explained what the issue was. He made suggestions on future repair for the unit ‘cause it's pretty old. I was pretty pleased with the whole process.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Majestic Custom came out to check the air conditioner. It wasn't really cooling the house down. It would take eight hours for it to cool the house from 80 degrees down to 72, and it was set at 68. We called the number on the policy and I spoke to someone at American Home Shield. They were pretty prompt at getting someone scheduled out here. It was timely. Majestic Custom was fine. The tech was very good at communicating what the procedures he went through, and it looked very thorough. The only thing is I continue to be concerned that the air conditioner doesn't cool well enough because they didn't find anything wrong with it. We won't know until next summer whether there's an issue.

The toilet was stopped up. It needed to be snaked. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The tech that got here was professional and he resolved the problem. So far, so good. However, I don't like American Home Shield anymore. I don't have them anymore as of today. I canceled today. I had an issue before with the AC repair and the technician did not give me a written diagnosis. I called American Home Shield three times to ask them for a written diagnosis. Because he had to come back out and do some repair work and it was gonna cost an additional $450. I was never able to get the written diagnosis from American Home Shield over the period of time nor could I get information.
So then, the parts would come in. I went online after a few weeks. It took about three weeks and filed another claim. The technician came back out. I called American Home Shield to let them know that I was not happy about not getting the diagnosis, and I no longer want the service of American Home Shield, because of the way this was handled. They said, "We will reimburse you the $75 for that tech call.” I never got to $75 and they told me that they would also give me a $75 free call. When I called to have the toilet guy come, they gave me the free call. But then, I got a bill saying I owed $75. Then I got another bill saying I didn’t pay my monthly. I said I couldn't deal with this. It was too much.

We have a professional company that comes out and services the pool every week. I had this loud noise going and then the thing didn't work. The person from Element Pool Repair came out and he realized it was the motor on the pump that had quit and he fixed it. The guy was awesome. He communicated well. He told me exactly everything he did out there. He went out of his way to make sure that we had what we needed. He is probably one of the best guys that came to my house. Everything is working well now. Then I probably have to put another order in, ‘cause I got a leaking faucet in my master bedroom. If I don’t figure it out, I'll pay the $75 and get that fixed too.

I had American Home Shield almost all my life. I moved back to New Orleans in 2018 and my son did my house for me and put the home warranty coverage on with Choice. However, everything I called them for if I had a problem, they were telling me it wasn't covered. I didn't like Choice and decided to go with American Home Shield. It's first time I had to use American Home Shield. I could have filled the claim out online but what happened was I had two issues going on with my stove and they're only allowed for one issue. It didn't give me what I needed online to tell them about everything that was going on with the stove that's why I called. The next day, someone called me from Sears to schedule the appointment. Everything was pretty much in order.
I had a little longer wait for the parts to come in because of COVID but other than that, the service was on time, professional and courteous, and I haven't had any problems since. I wouldn’t recommend anybody but American Home Shield. Since I had it last, I'm paying more now but prices go up. I'm also paying much more than what I was paying Choice but I feel more comfortable with American Home Shield.

Two of the sinks were not draining well so that's what I claimed. I did it online and I thought the AHS website was pretty easy to use, but I couldn't submit. I couldn't find everything I needed that easily. There should be an easier way to search for issues that I can submit for in there. But then I figured it out and selected something similar. The contractor called me beforehand and also texted me. They came in, they evaluated it, and fixed it. Now my sink isn't clogged anymore so it works.

I've had to submit two claims with Home Shield. One time, it took me 45 minutes sitting on the phone waiting to get them. It took a while. On my first claim, I had a hot water heater go out. I had to pay what wasn't covered on the water heater. There was a $75 service charge, and then a $400 fee. After everything has already been said and done, I got a letter in the mail saying that they would not pay some of that. I called them. I didn't fully understand. They really shouldn't have sent the letter because it has already been taken care of. But it was a bit more confusing. They could have made that part a bit easier by telling their part would not be paid or whatever, instead of just sending a letter saying they would not pay this. That was irritating.
Recently, Epic Air Heating and Cooling was able to repair the unit but they were supposed to come back out. I had a piece of flex pipe that had fallen and I didn't know it. They were supposed to come back and replace it but I haven't heard anything else from them. Other than that, the techs who have come out have been professional and on time.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I call in to submit my claims to American Home Shield and the process seems to be pretty easy. Sometimes, it takes a minute to reach a representative. It just depends on what time you call. I've been with American Home Shield for a few years, and I lost my card and didn't know because I wasn’t using them. So, they had canceled my account. I just got back with them in July. I had a recent claim on my garbage disposal and Home Choice Services came out. They ended up replacing it.

The claims process was challenging with AHS and I sort of ended up resorting to looking on Twitter because I wasn't getting a response. Initially, I saw that there was no phone number listed on the webpage to contact a human. So the only option was to use the online form for claims, which, in theory, should work. But if it doesn't and there's not a way to contact a person to troubleshoot that, then it means that things are just going to take a really long time to happen and the customer gets frustrated.
Now I signed up for American Home Shield because I had seen a similar pattern with my other home warranty company. And I noticed that with both of them, I needed to figure out what's the backdoor. But I'm concerned as to why would a customer have to rely on looking for a backdoor to get communication through. At the time, I was having a mini-split malfunction and at first, the techs called for an appointment. Then, I told them what the issue was and they said they don't work on mini-splits. They also said that they had told American Home Shield what their area of emphasis was in their contract and that they would contact American Home Shield to let them know to send somebody else.
But I didn't hear from American Home Shield for some days, so I contacted the contractor and asked them to contact AHS since I can't get ahold of a human there. They said they already did it a week ago, so by this time, I wasn't able to troubleshoot what looked like communication breakdown and the truth is, I know how to get exceptional service. I've given it because I've been in many industries where you need to give exceptional service and I've been a consumer where I know how to get it. So, I contacted the person that sold us the policy and said that I was having a really hard time getting hold of someone to schedule the right technician. I told him that I needed some exceptional care because I was not getting through.
In the end, the results of my claim were awesome but the issue was not that I didn't get what I needed, my concern was that my neighbor might not get what they need because they don't know how to play that card. The world needs to change if we're going to be neighbors with each other. And this was just about an air conditioning thing, but at the same time, it was not. It was 100 degrees here and I'm a young-ish healthy person in the time of pandemic. But there are other people around me that aren't. What happens if someone else can't get through because they don't know what card to play and their air conditioner is broken?

We had AC two units and both of them were acting up. When I filed a claim via the computer, I couldn't say that there were two units. I had to say that there were an AC unit and an EVAC for the second one which wasn't what we had. So the website was not user-friendly. But Total Air Care was absolutely fabulous when they came out. We had a condenser went out completely, so they replaced that. Then we had to pay for the Freon, which was $550. But they didn't fix the second unit. It was already acting up slightly and was making noise when they first came.
On the second day, the second unit went out because it couldn't do the whole house. So I called American Home Shield. I tried to explain to the girl that the second unit was out and asked her to add that on to our claim. But she said that the claim was only for the one. I insisted that I actually put two and nobody serviced the second one. So she went back and saw that I chose the EVAC on the original computer thing, and then she called the Total Air. She asked whoever she spoke with in regards to the second unit. 'Cause the second unit can't compensate for the whole first unit and second unit, thus, probably it was overwhelmed was what we were told. Then she said that they would fix the second unit when the technician would come out which he did. The AC units are fine now. The technician was 110% amazing and he was just so polite.
The service from American Home Shield is fabulous. We were with them for two years and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. The contractors that they sent out were amazing. But the only reason that we are no longer with American Home Shield is that their rates have gone up. We couldn't use them anymore and I was really frustrated.

We bought this house in April and we had a friend of ours come out and check out the heat and air unit because I completely forgot that we paid for the American Home Shield warranty. They told us that we needed an entire new heating unit. So, we processed the claim to have that checked out. The guys that AHS sent out took everything apart and checked it and there was nothing wrong with it. So, it ended very well. The technician was wonderful. We happened to all be home because we just had a baby so, we walked outside to talk to him. He had on his mask and he was extremely respectful and polite. He offered to take his shoes off when he came inside. It was awesome.
We were checking on the heat part of the unit. We're in Georgia and it hasn't gotten cold enough yet to turn the heat all the way on so we haven't gotten to completely check it. But the day that he came out, he let it run for 30 minutes. It was in the 80s. So, he said that if anything was going to happen, it would have happened within that time because the heat unit's gonna overheat easily. So, it is doing good. It was a great interaction with American Home Shield but on the website, we had the opportunity to choose to have the ductwork looked at as well. Once the contractor got out, we found out that it was not something that they cover. We were under the impression that we were gonna be able to get that fixed as well within the warranty but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Other than that, there was nothing else that I could even complain about. It was a great experience.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I recently had a claim with Home Shield for a pool part. Their claims process is pretty good. But the first time I used it, I had a bad experience, aside from the fact that I had my pool equipment added and I had a pool light that went out. One time, the spa level kept dropping while the pump was off ever so slightly, but over a bunch of hours, it could be a couple of inches. The tech came out and replaced the valves. The next day, I told him it was still doing it. The tech said that it must be something else and that they were only responsible for above-ground. It was disheartening and I was like, “Wow. So I’m stuck?" He said, “Yeah, pretty much.” But luckily, it was a fluke because it works fine now but the tech could have had a little better bedside manner.
As for the pool light, someone came all the way and said that they don’t do them. It ended up costing me 400 bucks because he replaced the light. I should have just done it myself. When I called back, I was told that it’s in the contract. And I was like, “Yeah, that thing that nobody reads.” This time was much better though. I tried to make sure I was very specific because I figured that it didn’t say pool light but it said electrical. They want us to do everything over the website and not actually talk to somebody. That would have saved me big had I just had somebody tell that they don’t cover pool lights. But overall, I’m satisfied with Home Shield since I got my issue fixed.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I've only had to call about three times and every time, they've been very helpful. As soon as I call or within 24 hours, a contractor calls me and tells me when they're gonna schedule the time. The only thing I didn't like was that I thought the garbage disposal was covered but it wasn't. The contract needs to be clear because in the written contract, it has it under one of the coverable things. But there needs to be some type of notation there that states that the garbage disposal is not one of the things that they cover, unless you're on a particular plan. The website is very easy. I prefer it to the phone very much. With the phone, when you call, you have to enter in your American Home Shield contract number then you have to go through all the prompts. With the website, our passwords are saved on our computer. We just open it up and it's quick. It says submit a claim, you check what you want and you move through it. It's so time efficient. Typically, they will tell you the claim has been assigned and who it's been assigned to and that you can expect a call within 24 to 48 hours. But they give you the number and if you want to call, you can call.
I'm thoroughly impressed with SWAT Plumbing. They sent a text when the contractor was on the way. He gave his name, how long he's been in the business, his phone number and his personal hobbies. We had a leak out from one of our faucets. The tech from SWAT Plumbing was sent out. He said that there was a missing piece to it and so he wasn't able to fix it. He was super nice, told me exactly what I needed to do, and went from there to get it addressed. I had to buy the piece. I avoid going into the store at the moment so I haven’t bought that one yet. I've had other claims and those have been good.

My refrigerator was leaking and the drain was stopped up. I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and it was an automated thing. I really prefer to talk to someone, but it was not a problem. I just went through the prompts and answered whatever. It was easy. Then, the tech who came out was very efficient. He came in with a mask on and he went straight to work. I stayed in the kitchen with him for a few minutes and watched him get started. Then I went to my office and he worked. He had water come out and he cleaned all that up. Then he put the refrigerator back together and it's been fine ever since. He was not very talkative, was very quiet, and professional. So far, that was the second thing that AHS has done for me. The first one ended up costing me more because of the age of my air conditioner unit and they don't have that Freon available except at a very high price. But they've been very easy to work with.

I researched the available organizations and American Home Shield seemed to be the one that met the most criteria. As anything, they'll have complaints against them in the research I found but it is what it is. It is insurance, so you may use it or you may not. The sales rep was very thorough with me and answered all of my questions. So, she did a good job with that because I was originally not completely sold on the type of product. But she did an awesome job. When we purchased the place, we had a simple lock change and G M Greco came out, and it was fine.

My garage door opener wouldn't open. I tried to call it in and American Home Shield said that I needed to do it through the website. So I didn't really get an option. So I did it online and the process was easy. It was only a matter of minutes before I got a call from the garage door company. There was an older gentleman and a younger guy. The older guy took pictures of the garage door opener and the other stuff that was attached to it. The younger gentleman was busy getting materials.
The biggest problem for me was this happened on a Friday and I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and there was no way for me to tell American Home Shield. When the garage door people called, she said they could come on Monday afternoon between 12:00 and 5:00. I asked her if there was anything earlier and she said no. So I had to cancel that doctor's appointment and reschedule it. But it was not their fault.
After the technicians took all the pictures, one of them asked me if I was aware that our warranty company doesn't cover the springs and cables. He told me that they consider that part of the door. How could they consider that part of the door? You can have a garage door that you open by yourself and it doesn't have those springs and cables. But I had to get it fixed. I couldn't get the car out of the garage. I also get allergy shots Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week. I was missing that, so I needed to be able to go on Tuesday. I asked him how much it was gonna cost. He told me I've already paid American Home Shield the $100, so it would be an additional $250. I don't have disability coverage. All I have is Social Security so that's a lot of money. But I had them do it because I didn't have a choice. It had to get done.
It only took them a few minutes to do the job. He checked the light bulb and he said they lubricated everything. He took the light bulbs in the opener, and he said they were LED light bulbs and they were not good to use in the garage door opener. Apparently, they interfere with the remote. I have had trouble at times getting that to open and close. I've had to really mess with it sometimes. So that made sense. He asked me if I had any regular bulbs and he replaced those. They were very good. They did what they were supposed to do and more. They were very kind, very professional and very pleasant. But American Home Shield lied to me when they sold me the warranty. They told me that they were not like other warranty companies and that when something broke down, they covered every part of it and not just little parts of it. But that wasn't true.

I tried to wash a couple of different cycles with the dishwasher and it wasn't cleaning. The door would be open where the detergent dispenses and the pellet wouldn't dissolve, and, of course, the dishes weren't clean, but it would still be wet. Master Tech Appliance was sent out. There were some adjustments that the tech had to make. Then, he showed me something else that could have been causing it as well, which was something that I was doing with the way that the utensils were being loaded. He was saying how sensitive those little door straps were, and how, just like a misplaced spatula, could keep it from opening all the way at the right time. I've only used it once since then, but it seemed like it was an easy fix. I've also had claims for the refrigerator and washing machine before and those went fine. I've been satisfied with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield picked a vendor that came out and fairly quickly diagnosed and solved the problem with the condenser replacement that he had with him. It was a very efficient and expedited repair. We signed up with American Home Shield again but it's been difficult sometimes to get a full resolution of a problem. We had a refrigerator go out right around March or April at the beginning of the pandemic. They sent different vendors out that did various things but nobody diagnosed the correct problem. We went without a refrigerator in that unit for about three or four months. That was at the same time our kitchen was being remodeled and we were cooking in the little house so it was very inconvenient.
It took them about four months plus to get a resolution. The final resolution is it's part of the sealed system and the manufacturer's warranty covers it. But in order to figure that out, I had to get Sears to come out myself and pay the guy 100 bucks to try to figure out what was wrong with it because nobody seemed to be able to figure it out. It was a very protracted affair with multiple things being done to the unit that weren't required to be replaced and nothing worked. American Home Shield has good vendors and they do good work except for that refrigerator.
Just before the renewal was due, we started having difficulties with the air conditioner on the little house and we have two air conditioners on this house that are about 16 years old. We figured we'd roll the dice and pay for the insurance. We've replaced every other appliance pretty much so there's really not much more for them to cover because we have a brand-new kitchen. There's the dishwasher and still this refrigerator in the little house and the air conditioning units. Some of these air conditioning units go with a very big price tag so we figured we’d keep American Home Shield for the next couple of years just for them. They worked both the other air conditioning units and put new circuit boards in when needed ‘cause they started failing. We got our money's worth. Hopefully, we won't need them this next year so I wouldn’t have to wait on hold to try to get in touch with them. It's so hard to get in touch with them and it takes forever on the phone to get a person.

It's understandable that certain parts they didn't cover and I know my unit is quite old. So I go ahead and purchase a complete unit for my home with a furnace. Then I get a letter nine days later from AHS telling me they don’t cover it. From the consumer’s point of view, that throws you off a little bit. The service contractors assured me they will service and take care of it and the first year of labor is free. So they comfort me a little bit but I was feeling a little alarmed with American Home Shield. But other than that, I’d recommend them. I've been with AHS for 23 years and I love them. All of my experience with American Home Shield since I joined several years ago then went very well. It's been well worth the little money I spend every month. When I have a breakdown in one of my appliances, I called and they got a technician out there, and the technician usually fixed the problem within the amount of time. The only problem is that sometimes the parts take a little time to get in. But that's nothing to do with American Home Shield. With my stove claim, the service technician was good. He had his mask on, he was really nice, and we kept all social distance. He put the part on and he left. The stove is working fine now.

The technician's work is great. The only thing is that sometimes the appearance of the companies that they send out can be somewhat concerning. If working for a company, you would think somebody would want their attire to be more professional-looking. Then the people come in and they got a shirt that looks wrinkled, faded. How employees look is also a reflection of that individual company. I had some individuals come that AHS hired. Of course, they did the quality work, but still, their appearance. When dealing with other companies, they come and look more appropriate as far as their work attire. So it makes me wonder if these companies with American Home Shield are 3, 4, or 5-star ones or are these just companies that are with them just to get business.
With the latest plumbing claim, I was having an issue with the toilet flushing, and of course, it's in a bathroom. The guy from Action Plumbing ran a little plunger down there and he got it to flush. But I still think I have the same problem I had because, in reality, I know the toilet and the shower all use the same line. I didn't wanna call them back 'cause I didn't want them to think like I was compounding using another problem. I'll just keep working it out. But he fixed whatever was going on with the plumbing issue.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I wasn't able to answer the phone and when I called back, I wasn't able to get in touch with them until a day and a half later. Still, they were able to schedule me within five days after that.
Labor Day was the second hottest day of the year so it was a little rough. South Placer had piles of people contacting them 'cause everything went wrong with air conditioners getting clogged up 'cause of all the fires. I've had American Home Shield since 1989 and I recommend it. When we bought our house in California, we got the home warranty. We got the same one when we bought our first house here and when we bought the house we have now. We are loyal people and we've had good luck with American Home Shield over the years.
The only problems we had with them was when our furnace and water heater went out. The furnace claim was a big fumble and that really made us mad that we were ready to drop American Home Shield. They said they were going to send out somebody. The guy that came out said he couldn't fix it and left. American Home Shield said they were gonna send another company out but they never called and never showed up. I called them and they said they would get in touch with somebody else but they didn't. For three days, we went without heat. Luckily, my son had an electric heater and we carried it from room to room. Thankfully too, none of our pipes burst. In the end, we had another company that we called to come out and they got the furnace fixed because it was way below zero.
When our water heater went out, we bought a new one and American Home Shield reimbursed us for it. But we had to get somebody to come out ourselves and put in a new water heater. This was years ago in our home and it worked out great. But when it went out again, I called and nobody ever showed up. My husband just went out and bought a hot water heater. He worked for a plumbing company and he had that plumbing company come in and pick it up.
We also had a claim where D&D Appliance Repair came out and they were good. They followed through with their timeline. The tech explained everything that he was doing. When he had to order parts, he told me exactly when he was coming back and he was here before the said time, which was great. Also, he wore a mask.

American Home Shield takes a weight off your shoulders knowing that issues will be handled. Not always quickly, but at least as inexpensively as they probably could be. I’ve had several different things done under them and every contractor has been really great. I've only been with them for a year or two and they've fixed my stove, my dryer, my washing machine and my AC. I've also gotten a new water heater.
I'm a little more concerned about the current claim because it's a much more expensive issue. The contractor came to fix my air conditioning. They did tell me what they thought it was. He did fix what he thought he could but he said at the time, “If this doesn't work, let us know and we'll come back out.” They also did tell me that there may be some things that I'll be charged for but to my understanding I'm not supposed to be charged for. Their fix didn't work so they were out again yesterday but it’s not been taken care of yet. It was confusing with this one because I didn't know whether or not to submit again. When I called about that, the person that I spoke with was very difficult to understand.

Filing a claim is not difficult by itself but American Home Shield gets to choose who the vendor is when you get the service. If I choose a vendor that they don't recognize and doesn't deal with them, then I have to pay for it myself. My initial understanding was that if I call the vendor to do a service, American Home Shield would cover it. But that's not the case. I didn't fully understand. The furnace was not taken care of and I got surprised by it. The only thing that American Home Shield has covered is rekeying and they did well on it. The technician was fine.
What I was told was if I have any problems, I could just have them taken care of and American Home Shield would cover it. It's true if you let them pick the vendor. However, I did a little investigating and what they tend to do from what I could gather is they don't hire necessarily the best people around. They hire the cheapest. They need to make clear when the policy is sold that you don't have a choice on the vendor that comes out. Otherwise, I would have had some real reservation about it.

We made a claim with the ice maker on the refrigerator a long time ago. The part wasn't available so we had to wait for it. It just came in, so the technician went and installed it. That issue has been resolved. However, he said not to use it because there was something to do with the water supply for the plumbing. He didn't have a license to do it so I have to call someone else for that. We haven't done anything about it yet because we had to leave the house for a little bit for vacation. When we get back, I'll have to call back.
My biggest complaint with AHS is that when I call, I can't talk to somebody right away. Sometimes, I have to be on hold for 30, 40, 50 minutes before someone comes on to take the call. I know it can be done online too. But when calling about more than one thing, even the automated operator can't distinguish and the customer has to keep hitting the buttons to get to somebody because he tells them and then it kinda goes crazy. It doesn't know what he's talking about. It could be worse for somebody that was working all day and didn't have the time to stay on the phone to wait for an answer. But the contractors they have are pretty good and they all seem to know what they are doing.

The rep said that if need be, they would send out another more senior team to examine the other unit, which they did. The second team found that the fan was miswired. Once they repaired that and charged it up a little bit with some coolant, everything worked fine. Everything is fine now.
I'm not quite sure if the first guy did the right thing. But the second team seemed fine. They were very professional and they completed the work in time. This house is in Phoenix, Arizona and I was in the midst of moving into the house. There was a clog outside in the line and the contractor American Home Shield sent out unclogged it. But now, I have a problem with my floors because the toilet overflowed and flooded the entire living room. The floor panels are coming up and they're soaked. I told the company that when I called them back. They said the floors were covered. The plumber told me that they would need to come in here and dry that out. I tried to call them back to find out what I had to do to get my floors taken care of. But I simply can't get through. I usually have a good experience with American Home Shield. I couldn't be more pleased with American Home Shield. Recently, the refrigerator unit would not cool. I tried to do the claim over the phone and I was put on hold. After about 40 minutes, I gave up, went online and was able to book in three or four minutes. Their phone service is terrible. I'm sure they're doing a lot of remote working with the COVID thing but if I ever need them again, I'll go directly online and book it. It was very simple.
The contractor was GE Appliance. There was only a couple of days between when I called and when they were able to come out. They set the appointment time between eight o'clock in the morning and noon. I called them the day before because I wanted to find out how they were treating the COVID issue. They told me that they test all of their employees first thing in the morning and they wear masks when they come out on site. About half an hour to an hour later, I got kind of a robo call from them saying, "This is GE and we're calling about your appointment. With COVID, we want to let you know that when your serviceman arrives, he will have a mask and we'll expect you to also wear a mask and remain at least a six-foot distance." I was very pleased with that.
About 20 minutes before the guy got here, he called and introduced himself. He told me to describe what was happening. He said that sounded like a fan motor, he's got one in his truck and he'd see me in 20 minutes. I was probably his first appointment and he was here about 8:10. He came in, opened it up, put a test kit on it, said, "Yup, it's the fan motor," and had it fixed. He checked out and it was cooling within probably 20 minutes. It was a great experience.

There were two times that Just One Call came out, mostly because the air conditioning wasn't working. And one time, they came out and topped off the refrigerant. The other time they came out, unfortunately, we weren't able to reproduce the issue that was going on, so they just stopped in. It was working at that point and they didn't need to do anything at all. We're still having some issues and we're actually getting a little bit clear as to what they are, but I will probably have to call them out again. I called American Home Shield and told them about it. They gave me the number of Anthem Mechanical Palm Springs and put in an order. Then, I called Anthem. While waiting for them to come in, we put a lot of ice in the room and in the fan. When they came out, they fixed the aircon and now it's working. They were good and I had no problem. All in all, the response from AHS has been very timely and until now, I still have my tenants with me. So I'm happy with American Home Shield.

Submitting claims online to American Home Shield is usually easy to do. Things have gone fine every time I've submitted one. We've had two different issues so far. One was with our plumbing and the other was with our AC. Both times for our AC, we had their contractor Aire Serve and they were good. However, I was not pleased with the plumbing contractor, Action Rooter Sewer & Drain. We had a leak in our basement and it turned out that there was an issue with our water softener. When we put in a request, AHS sent it off right away. But then, I ended up canceling the claim and we took care of things on our own because the contractor acted like they didn't wanna come out and help us. They were not very professional.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

Overall, we have been happy with everybody who has come out. Also, Home Shield has been a great service. They're professional. Plus, we moved into a house that had a lot of older appliances. We have been grateful to be able to work with everybody who has come out and to be insured. I had our microwave go, our dishwasher and oven. They've kinda increased in volume of calls for COVID and probably a reduced staff. The only issue I had with them wasn't really their fault. It was a policy issue. There was a leak in one of the copper pipes at the top of my hot water heater. I went online and submitted a request to American Home Shield. The website was great. It was easy and comprehensive. I was able to do it in the parking lot of Lowe's on my cell phone. I got a text message and an email to say that I would be contacted within 24 hours.
The service from Jim Bennett's Plumbing was exceptional. I even called them the night before to let them know that I had the problem. It was literally shooting water up and they made an accommodation to come out the next morning once they got the order from AHS. The rep was professional and cleaned up the floor. The repair saved my home. It would have been flooded overnight. Everything is functioning perfectly now. If I ever had any other plumbing or electronic issues, I would like American Home Shield to send them again. I am nothing but completely satisfied. My AC stopped running and it was handled very efficiently by AHS. Submitting the claim with them was super simple. I am really bad about remembering username and passwords for accounts that I don't use often. Fortunately, they have an easy process for you to be able to access your information to submit a claim that does not add frustration to the frustration you already have for needing to submit a claim. They asked for the address and the telephone number associated with the account. Then, the contractor called me the same day and they came out to fix the problem on a Saturday. They were very professional and I was pleased that they were masked, given the climate.
For anyone who is thinking about getting a home warranty, it will be really good to know what is already warrantied so that you don't get more than what you need. And there are a couple of different plans but it’s best to do all-inclusive because I wouldn't have thought that my air went out or that I would have had an issue with my hot water heater. They were relatively simple fixes but if I hadn't had American Home Shield, I would have been out of a couple of hundred dollars easily each time.

Best Care Home Services did an awesome job. The first thing the technician asked me was what the issue was and I kinda explained what was going on. He proceeded to do the work to get it fixed and it was really quick. He was in and out. He also gave me some other tips to try to help to make sure that the issue did not occur again. But if it did occur again, that I could always call my warranty company and ask for them to come out which I would definitely do again.
American Home Shield has kinda been ebbing and flowing this go-around and I don't know if it's just because of everything that's going on. I had to call in yesterday. I've been having an issue with another appliance in my home since June. It's now September 29th and it has not been fixed. The first company that came out removed some bolts from the dishwasher. That company was unresponsive. American Home Shield could not get in touch with them. I could not get in touch with them too. Every rep that I talked to would not help. It was only when I asked to speak with someone in the retention department that they were listening in sending out another company. They told me my call should’ve been escalated to another department. They saved me as still being a client with American Home Shield because they worked through it. They set up another company to come out. They also offered me a service fee credit if I had another issue.
The new company did come out. He noticed that there were some parts that were taken so he was having to order those parts. But we don't even know if those parts are going to be the issue. He said the parts won't be in until mid to late October. That's been my only frustration because I didn't feel like it has to go about that long. I was diligent with calling but I don't know if it was just the wrong tech that I was talking to that couldn't fix the issue. But hopefully, by mid to late October, I'd have a working dishwasher.

There was a leak in one of the hoses of our AC so I did a claim online with American Home Shield. I got a note back right away saying US Air Conditioning of Texas would contact me in 24 hours. But I was having a lot of telephone trouble at the time so I contacted them. And because of my telephone problems, I had a hard time. The contractor could not come in without calling first and I didn't have a phone that they could call. It messed up a lot of things that weekend. But they got here on Monday and worked with my daughters so that they would be assured I was home. With several phones involved, we got it all done. The tech blew it out quite efficiently. He also gave me some good advice on the way and even taught me how to do it myself next time.
I turned the AC on for about 30 minutes just to be sure water wasn't gonna come gushing out of the hoses after he left. Everything seemed fine and I've had the windows open since then. Every time US Air came out, they were wonderful whether they were working outside or inside. This is the second time I've had them out this summer. I'm very pleased with how well they get things done in a hurry.

Myers Comfort Specialists did quick service in a timely manner. They took care of everything and were very professional. We did the claim on a Friday and we got a call Saturday that they would be coming on Monday or Tuesday. That was a good timeframe. The last time, it was like nearly a week. It was seven days and we even called back. The first time it was 5 to 7 days before they could come out. It was like way out there. So I called American Home Shield back and said we didn't need to go without air that long. I asked was there something else that could be done. They said there was nothing. I called back twice and there was nothing that American Home Shield said they could do 'cause that's who they use. I said there's got to be somebody within this area. I'm a property manager and I know lots of the AC people. That doesn't make sense how Myers is the only company in this area that American Home Shield uses.
We have our refrigerator being worked on but the parts that they ordered are on backorder which is kinda odd. A lot of parts are on backorder for appliances because we're having issues too. It's been nearly three weeks since they came out. If you can't get a part from one place, it looks like you could try to get another part from another place. I'm very resourceful. If I can't get a refrigerator from Home Depot Pro, then I have another supplier. You always have to have a backup. They're just going to one place, they rely on that place and that's it.
American Home Shield is a great service. They'd done really good with our pool. The only problem that I have is with the AC. I like Myers but I think if they can't come out and they're so busy, American Home Shield needs to have another person come out. They need to have a backup. We could go a whole week without an AC. That's not a big deal. They used to do it back in the old days. But now, the way homes are built, you don't want moisture-related issues to start setting up. When you've got insulation up there and there's no air circulating, moisture is gonna build up. It's not like the old homes where there were cracks where air could flow through.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We are working to improve the overall customer experience. Thanks for your patience during this process.

We had another experience where my mom's microwave was damaged or broken. They had a technician come out 15 times to repair. I thought that AHS should just buy a new microwave which was like $100. To have someone come out that many times, that’s probably 10 times that much just sending a technician out rather than just repairing. AHS finally got my mom a new microwave. I probably saw four of their technicians. They were always polite and professional but I don't think that they really knew what it was that they were doing. It lasted for about seven months and I didn't have refrigeration. They kept putting in a new part and putting in another new part. I even tried calling American Home Shield and said, "It’s basically a brand new refrigerator and it's still not working. I’m a customer. You need to help me ‘cause I’ve been out of a refrigerator now for six months.” But they didn't wanna do anything about it. When the person finally came in and fixed the actual electronic aspect of it, we closed out the claim.
But then, we noticed that it was starting to leak into our freezer. It would be fine then it would be leaking and refreezing. We were getting blocks of ice on the bottom of the freezer so we had to call American Home Shield again. We had to make another claim and they gave us a different appliance repair person and he fixed the problem. It was a clogged drain and we haven't had problems ever since. We weren't getting cool air from one of the air conditioning units. We have two of them and we weren't sure about the other one, so we put in the order to have both of them checked, and then the one had a failed capacitor. MS Services came out and the tech identified the problem and corrected it. We do have an outstanding repair order with American Home Shield, and I probably need to resubmit it. We had the pool worked on, and since we've had it worked on, our remote controller doesn't work. I'm trying to troubleshoot that and try to understand why that's not working. I guess there's some confusion because we wanted the heater repaired at the same time with the same work order. I had to jump through hoops to get that heater included on that same work order. So, I'm going to call American Home Shield today to get a new work order.
We've been with American Home Shield for several years, and we haven't utilized it that much. With our claims on the pool and the air conditioner, they were all right. We've had the refrigerator worked on it and unfortunately, it took a long time. We were without a refrigerator for quite a while. That wasn't American Home Shield's fault though. There was one guy who came out and just did refrigerator alone, and he didn't actually do anything while he was there. He just looked at it. Then the ice maker is still not working, but we said to forget about it. Another guy came out from Sears and he worked on several things. But all of those things needed a part. One of the parts came in while I was at my dad's house and he put that one on. Then he's going to be back on October 5th to put two other parts on. That guy has been fine. The first guy that had to do with the refrigerator, however, is still not done.
The contractors were pretty responsive. The only thing that was an issue was that it first sent me on the appliances to something like Honesty Appliances but they don't work on those particular models. So then what happens is a lot of time goes by because I'm thinking they're coming, but when they call to just confirm, then they can't even do it. Then it has to go back to American Home Shield. Sears doesn't answer the phone for half an hour. So it was like a process. When I finally got through with Sears, they didn't have the work order loaded into the system so then I had to call American Home Shield back. I have had the AHS services for some six years or more and I loved it. I am the one that referred them to my dad because I think it would be great. They're elderly. I also told my brother to get it. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and in a couple of days, their contractor Garage Door Pros came to our place. They did a good job and everything went fine. The tech applied some lubrication on the door and when he did that, the squeaking stopped. He said that we needed to do maintenance on it.

It has been about three weeks ago since I put the first claim for my air conditioner. American Home Shield has scheduled the appointments and they've done exactly what the contract or agreement is about. But the air conditioning company that came out didn't diagnose the problem correctly the first time. I called the air conditioning company again today to set up this appointment. That is the fifth time that I've had to call.
The first time that the air conditioning company came out, they drained some water out of the pan upstairs in the attic. The air conditioner came back on and worked for about two days, then it quit. So I had to call them again. They sent another guy out. He drained the pan and put an overflow spout where it would automatically drain the pan. The air conditioner came back on and stayed on for three days and then it went back off again. So, I had a call again.
The air conditioning company came out and complained that they couldn't go up there without a catwalk. They needed a catwalk to walk on. So, my son and I had to build a work platform and a catwalk. I’m 74 years old and I have gone up and down the thing and put all borders down and it didn't really bother me. But according to their guidelines, they needed a catwalk up there. So, we put about a 10-inch wide catwalk. The tech came back again and said that it was sufficient. We put down a work platform about four foot wide and about six feet long. Then we put down beside the catwalk another four-foot-wide flooring there. We've called them again to see if they'll come back. Hopefully this time, they won't complain about it and they will diagnose the problem correctly and fix it.

Submitting claims is pretty easy. It's just that sometimes I have to wait for a couple of days for anybody to show up. We had a water leak up in the attic recently. The technician came and it wound up being an air conditioner problem and so, we had to get the air conditioner people out, but it all worked out. AHS has always done a pretty fair job. I don't have any problems if the repairman calls and tells there’s something wrong. AHS always seems to fix it without any argument.

I've had American Home Shield for 10 years. Every time I put a claim in, they usually have somebody out right away or at least contact me to schedule. I have a plan where I just pay the $75 fee and everything else is covered so I have no issue with that. I did an AC claim the last couple weeks ago. It's been repaired and it's working now. The most recent claim was for the dishwasher. I did it online and I just put in what item I was having issue with and the brand it was. They contacted me shortly thereafter and found a company to come do the work. I had to push back them coming out to next week because I'm not able to leave work this week.

The contractor called me the same day, made an appointment to come out the next day, came out, and looked at the problem. They then had to go pick up a part from their shop, came right back, and fixed it. It's been working ever since, so they were great.

I did the claim online but because I was gonna be out of town for work, they scheduled the service for the first day I was back in town. The tech was very, very on time and very professional. I work at home and he was real quiet. He checked the drain out thoroughly and he drilled it out and got it all to go down like it should. Everything’s working perfectly now. I appreciate the claim being covered and getting it done so quickly. Home Shield worked so fast.

It's been a good experience with their service and I've never had a bad experience with the individuals they sent out. Recently, Hers and His Plumbing came out for a plumbing issue. They did really well although they had to do a follow-up where they had to bring in a part. They took care of the problems quickly. I was satisfied.

He was very polite and he did everything he needed to do.
We've had another claim for our refrigerator which went well. Unfortunately, the tech also broke something he was fixing the refrigerator and he had to order another part. He came back and replaced the part he needed to replace. Everything else worked great. So far, AHS has been doing great for us. We appreciate all of their work. I called my claim in and Home Shield found somebody sent into the house. We have been trying to get the AC fixed, but it has been multiple reasons why it's not working. They told my husband it had a leak, that it needed Freon, and that it was a breaker. So, we fixed those three things. They also said that it could be something stuck in the ducts. So, they came and checked it and they said it was the blower. My husband said they supercharged the blower. The AC worked for a good two weeks, and then right now, it makes this horrible loud noise when we turn it on and the cold air is not coming through. There is blowing of air, but it's not strong and not cold. So, I don't understand how we just added the Freon.
We're back to the same situation. Home Shield will get a second opinion, so they're sending a different company right now. I'm waiting. I'm supposed to be scheduled between 1:00 and 5:00. But Home Shield does the job. They tend to customers pretty quickly. Ours is just an old home, and it's a flipped home. It's a learning experience for us first-time buyers. I told my sister about Home Shield.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

Our air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air through the house and it was when it was a little bit warmer. We filed the claim and a guy came out one month ago. He was awesome and he had great customer service skills and technical ability. He got everything working and it worked for about a week and a half. Then, it went back to doing the same thing. He said he replaced the capacitor, the fan and one other thing. So, knowing that all of those things were replaced, I figured some minor erroneous thing went wrong. So, I called American Home Shield again and submitted a follow-up ticket. They sent a different guy out who said that a fuse had blown or the capacitor had come unplugged. It was quick to take care of and get it figured out. So far, it's been great. It has gotten a little cooler so we haven't really been using our air conditioner at all. But we've used it a little bit and it worked perfectly fine. So, no complaints at all.
We’re happy with the experience and I'd recommend the contractor that AHS used to anybody. They were great, personable, knowledgeable and great guys to chat with. They did a great job too. It was just happenstance that it required two outings. It was an overall positive experience. American Home Shield specifically was great about communicating and getting the contractors out to our house and all of our information to them in an extremely timely manner, and it was all that we could ask.

The submission of the claim part is very easy. However, I am often frustrated after that, with the timeliness that I get a response from the service providers by any means. My last experience with the garage door people was absolutely amazing. In my experience with the air conditioner, I had two different claims. One of them was absolutely amazing as well. The other one was not. Typically, some claims are more urgent than others. American Home Shield would need to encourage their providers to prioritize some of their claims. For example, we had a claim that was causing major water damage to our home, which was going to force us to file an insurance claim, and cost us even more money. The air conditioner company did not care.

One of the air conditioner units had stopped blowing cold air. The contractor looked at it and found that it had a bad capacitor. He replaced it and he was out of here in about 20 minutes. The contractor was fantastic. Then I had another issue the next day that was plumbing related and American Home Shield said that they would not help me with that because it was too quick after the first call. The rep said that I would have to wait two weeks to make another claim. So I had to call a plumber on my own. The warranty wasn't of any help with it.

The dryer wasn't working and then the sink and the garbage disposal when we bought the house. When we first got there, they said they could only put in one claim. Then I spoke to a supervisor that said we could put in both the claim. She told us to just give them the information on the escrow, which we did. Then she said they would get technicians and they would transfer us back to the department and they would process it. When they transferred me back, they said they could only process one. So we decided that we needed the dryer fixed because we were all filthy from moving and we wanna wash our clothes. We could get to-go food because we thought it'd only be a day or two 'til the sink was working.
The contractor came out and fixed the dryer. It was great. Then when I called back, they said they couldn't process the other claim until they get the money from the title company. I've been calling every week and finally, I asked the title company if they paid these people because they still haven't got the check. They told me the check number and the amount. So then I called and asked for a supervisor. I've called a million times now. I talked to a supervisor and said the check number and the amount. I also told them the phone number of the title company. Then they said everything was so slow because of the coronavirus. They said the check probably arrived but processing it in their system is taking time. So American Home Shield admitted they're slow on their end too. They assured me the check went out the day we closed escrow but it's been three weeks or more now.
When we finally got the approval to get to them with the check number, they gave me the approval to do the sink. We called the contractor but they can't come until October 2nd. I called American Home Shield right back and told them that October 2nd was too far without a kitchen sink. Then they said they would just need verification from them. They called but they were closed because it was the end of the day. They said they were gonna email them and they would follow up by tomorrow. They would just have another person log into our account.
On my phone, I logged in to American Home Shield a thousand times a day to see if the check cleared. But a week later, still nothing. So I called and they said the company never released it. I called the company back and they said that anytime American Home Shield contacted them, they released it immediately. I told them that they were closed when American Home Shield called them and they said they emailed them. But they said they had zero emails and calls from them. So I told them that if they have a cancelation, they could call me and I would make sure someone was home. The rep looked on and she said there is an October 1st appointment, so they can at least get me in by then. I was okay with that. But meanwhile, I've been three or four weeks now without a kitchen sink.
American Home Shield is probably good if you paid it and you were just using it as a consumer, like for an emergency. But because I moved in and needed it right when we closed and then they didn't get the check, that was where the problem they couldn’t fix them both better. It's a complete nightmare. I do talk to a supervisor and then they transfer me back to somewhere else. Then they don't do what the supervisor just told me they were gonna do, so it's dumb.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

I hate American Home Shield. Every time we have something break down and I have to call them, my husband and I have to flip a coin for who is going to actually do it because it's that much of torture just talking to any of the incompetent people they have there. I call them and ask them for something. English is my second language and I am not racist, but I can never understand the people that I'm speaking to. The line is always fuzzy. They always put my name down incorrectly. For 10 years, they can't get the addresses right. They send people to other people's homes that I don't even own and then they never call back. The plumbing system in our newest house was so horrible. There was one plumber that came there and he lied in order to get a bunch of things changed. American Home Shield doesn’t cover those and we would have to pay them directly. Then everything the plumber told us was false.
American Home Shield should be shut down. They are horrible and they hire third-rate trash technicians. I'm forced to go to another contract. If I had another choice, I’d go somewhere else but I'm just too lazy to switch. In 10 years, and we have about nine houses with them, 1 is the worst but I don't even think they deserve a 1.

Since American Home Shield sent us Ambition Plumbing, I thought they were good. That claim was for a stopper jam on a sink in the master bedroom, and the toilet and shower in the master bedroom were plugged. That was three months ago. When they came, they were great and when they left, the plumbing was working. The problem may have been that as far as their auger would go is far as they were able to clean stuff out and they couldn't see any further. They did not use a camera.
We called in the same thing a week and a half ago. American Home Shield sent a company called ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing and their action was to say they couldn't do anything with the drains not draining because I had a high-pressure relief valve. They wanted to replace it, which is the water intake into the house, instead of fixing the drain. So we said that didn't fix anything and I'm not gonna pay $1000 to change the water pressure into my house. I do not want them to ever come back to our house. We told American Home Shield that I needed a second opinion and it happened with Immediate Response Plumbing. An hour after we called, they were here. They came at 5:00 Friday night and diagnosed the problem and they got done at 7:00. I paid an extra $225 and I told them to put a camera down there to find out what's going on. When they took the picture, they said that I got a problem and showed it to me.
The reps said that my pipe has separated and collapsed underneath my house. They think it's a foundation issue. We'll find out as soon as they get to the pipe. So, we're without two bathrooms and I had hip surgery the day before we called them in. American Home Shield immediately told us that since it's a problem with a pipe underneath my house, it's not their responsibility. So, I contracted with Immediate Response Plumbing and the very next day, they had people out jackhammering into the foundation to get to the pipe so we can get it fixed.
We hired American Home Shield seven years ago because we had a catastrophic failure of two water heaters and a water softener, all at one time. I said that enough was enough. We've gotta protect ourselves. I'm satisfied with them but before, when you call, you get an immediate response. There's someone there. I got it that it's a call center but once this COVID thing happened, all of a sudden, you gotta wait hours. I happen to love their computer program because you get to put the information in quickly but it doesn't give you any access to say what's wrong.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is a simple process but with the dishwasher that I have now, I’ve had contractors out five times with it. I'm tired of it and I'd like to have it replaced. Getting something replaced would be a major problem. The only reason I'm still with AHS is that I've been with them for so long. It has been 10 years. My house is 20 years old now and I'm afraid my air conditioning or something major will go out. On the other hand, I'm not totally confident that they're gonna take care of it even if it does.

It’s very easy to submit claims and have somebody come through with American Home Shield. However, they need to be careful about some of the people that they use. I used them before for my dishwasher, and I didn’t like the guy's service because he would tell me he fixed it, and then the same problem is still occurring. When I put the claim in for the electricity, I also did it for my ceiling fan downstairs. The guy who did it took all the stuff down and just left the wire hanging out. He wanted me to buy the metal part in the plastic that was in there.
American Home Shield called me a couple of days ago saying that it was a part that wasn’t covered. But the guy knew that that part wasn’t covered. I don’t know why he couldn’t use the same one that was there and I don’t know how heavy is the one that he’s putting in the room. This is a brand new fan that he needed to put up. I think he's taking advantage of American Home Shield. I haven’t heard from him. They called me a day before yesterday about him coming back and replacing the ceiling fan and so I’m just waiting. Recently, my AC had gotten clogged and started leaking on my ceiling. Right Tech Heating & Air came out, but I had fixed the problem myself and unclogged it. They came over and made sure that everything was still flowing right.

My recent claim with AHS was for my personal property and it went really well. When I first called, it was gonna be another week to get an appointment 'cause it's crazy right now. But, I called my rep because I wanted to talk to a person to try to expedite it and she made it happen. The guy who came out was excellent. First off, he came right away. He was on time, which I loved and he needed to get a part. Parts are really hard to get right now but he worked really hard to get the part. It was just cool. He was in our house taking everything out as there are places that you can never get to unless all the shelves are out. I just loved that. He was a great guy.
I'm a Realtor. So when there's a home warranty to be ordered, I always order them from American Home Shield. They are really good. It's super easy to submit a claim. You can do it either online or you can call. I have other properties personally that I also have warranties with them on. There had been an air conditioning that had gone out and they had been all over it. AHS has done quite a bit.

The bottom burner on my oven wasn't working and Aurora Appliance Repair replaced it. When I called them, they were able to get the serial number for the oven and they ordered the part and it took maybe four days to get the part in. Most of the time, my claims experience with American Home Shield is decent. I had one issue. It was with a dishwasher, and this is when COVID had just started. The guy wasn't wearing a mask. I didn't appreciate that. I've only had two people in since that happened. Then I've had trouble with my furnace where I really felt like they should have replaced it and they didn't. This was a few years back but my husband had a stroke and it took three different companies to come out.
The guy that finally was able to fix it turned something up. It was extremely hot and I really didn't feel like it was even safe. I was in the midst of caring for my husband. So I worked with them, but I normally would have not allowed that. I have old pipes and American Home Shield doesn't deal with anything with galvanized pipes. As far as plumbing, I don't like the plumbers that they have. Often, they won't even look at anything but just blame it on the pipes. I'm really considering stopping the coverage.

American Home Shield is amazing. They get the job done. They are always responsive and I appreciate their promise. They have good relationships with their vendors and they have a good system for scheduling their vendors. It’s also very easy submitting a claim to them. I call then I go through a voice menu. They tell me what they can and can't do and what's covered and not covered. Hanneman and Sons Electrical came out for a claim recently and the technician was great. He had good communication and good scheduling and was on time and professional. His name is Craig and he fixed the issue fine. I've called them and asked them to come back because the GFI plug has actually reset again. He's coming back today to look at it.

I went to dry things and the dryer wouldn't spin. I had power but there was no spinning. I called on the phone and I was given an expectation on when my contractor was supposed to contact me so that I knew when they were coming out. The gentleman from A-Tech Appliance Services came and I told him what the problem was. He got in there, he took a look, and he said it was the belt. He went to his truck and got one. The problem was taken care of. I really like him. He seemed knowledgeable, courteous, he had the items on him and once he was here, he definitely knew his stuff. So once the contractor was here, it was great. I was just having a communication problem figuring when he was going to be here. AHS needs to do a little work on the administrative end. On August the 20th, On Point Services came out to check my stovetop range and my oven because there was a short in my oven light. It was due to a bulb, so they fixed that. With the stovetop, the big burner on the front and the little burner on the back never would go out. They looked at it and they said they'd have to order replacement parts. Then, in about two weeks, they let me know that it had to be replaced. The range was too old and the parts were not available. But I haven't heard anything from American Home Shield since. The last representative I talked to gave me a replacement department telephone number and when I called that, they gave me a hold time of two hours and 40 minutes. I held on the line this morning for an hour and never did get a representative. But the tech was very polite and he did what he was supposed to do here.
In the past, American Home Shield had always been prompt. The technicians that have come out were able to fix what I ever needed. A few months ago, I had to have my washing machine replaced and American Home Shield was very prompt on what they told me they could offer me. So I took it and paid the other part and bought a new machine. This is my first time in all the years for them to be dragging their feet and I'm working on two burners.

I had some issues with my HVAC so I opened a service request. They assigned a company and the company's technician called the next day. This technician was the most rude and unprofessional service professional I've ever dealt with. Instead of listening to my concerns, he lectured me on how to use an AC. I tried to get a different company assigned before the technician visited but AHS told me that only the service company can cancel/reschedule the appointment (?!?!?) So, obviously, the visit from this technician was just as unpleasant as his phone call. I had another contractor in the house at the same time who completely agreed that this HVAC technician should not be sent to peoples' houses!
I fill a survey on AH detailing my experience and no calls/contact from AHS. I waited a few weeks and nothing. I finally called AHS, was put on hold for almost 30 minutes, and was told that it was my fault for not rescheduling or requesting a different company. Apparently I could've called the HVAC service company and canceled but I was not told this when I first called to complain! They wouldn't even refund my service fee because "the visit has already happened". There's no accountability with this company (!) so I'm writing this review to let other people know what options they have in case they run into the same situation. Consumers have so little power left these days.

Having Home Shield is a peace of mind for me, because I don't have to spend the money out of pocket if there's something. It's just a service fee. We've had a couple of other experiences. I submitted a claim for my refrigerator. Both the cooling component in the fridge and the freezer just stopped working. The claims process wasn't too bad. I did it online. Online is way easier than doing it via the phone. The contractor that was sent out was very nice and informative. He took the time to explain everything he was doing and what had failed. He was quick to the point but very professional. We had one day where the fridge kinda kicked off, but then it started working again.
My experience is good when you get to the point where you're working with the contractors, but working with some of the agents with American Home Shield itself can be exceptionally tasking. It’s long. You have to continually follow up with stuff in some cases. From where I found, at least, some of the agents aren't really familiar with the policy. This is why I do my claims online most of the time now. You can call and have an issue with one thing and the agent will be like, “That's not covered.” Then you call a different agent and they’ll say, “Yup. Said there right in your contract.” But once I get over to contractors themselves, I haven't had any issues.

Other than that, I'm very happy with them. It's the best thing that I've ever invested in. You don't have to look for anybody if you just make a phone call and it's very convenient. I wouldn't change it for anything. I brag about American Home Shield all the time to all my friends. I'm not saying that I haven't had any problem, which I have. But overall, I'm very pleased with them.
The technician we had was very good. I already had spoken to the office on the phone and let the tech know exactly what was going on. The problem was on the upstairs level. So when thee tech came, I showed him where it was and he knew that was in the master bathroom. Then I just escorted him to the bathroom. It didn't take him long before he fixed the problem. He was very nice about it. He told me what had happened and everything and what he did.

Everything went fine with my recent claim with AHS. The gentleman, his name was Fernando, did an excellent job. He was very polite, very professional and overall, resolved the problem. He was wearing a mask and a hand sanitizer available. He explained what the issue was. He said that the drainage on the refrigerator itself was having some backup causing some ice buildup inside the refrigerator. He went and ordered a new part for it, a new drainage that allows it not to backup. It seemed to resolve the problem.
Thus far, everything's been good with American Home Shield. We've had not too many issues. But about two years ago, we had an issue with our water heater. The only thing with the water heater itself, out-of-pocket was almost 800 bucks. That was just due to bringing it up to whatever current standards. It was somewhat understandable, but I expected only to pay the deductible itself.
But other than that, those people that did that, did a good job on it and I'm happy with it. I haven't had any problems with it. So, I recommended American Home Shield to my sister who was out of state, and she has another company that's going through Sears called Cinch and they're just terrible, just had a bad experience with them. Everything for the most part has been fine with American Home Shield. But I'm very disappointed with the contractor for the delivery and the install of the dishwasher. I was told that the dishwasher would be delivered today. They gave me the time frame and that's all fine and well. Then, the delivery drivers get here and they said they were just here to drop off the dishwasher. They said somebody else will be coming by to install it. That was never told to me.
I live in an area that requires a licensed plumber, which I get, but what the contractor did not do was call me. I would have been fine with it if I was told that it's gonna be a two-day thing - that they're going to deliver it on this day and somebody else would come by the following day. I'm going through chemo treatments and I would have scheduled it all around my treatments. I have a dishwasher sitting in my front foyer and my old one is still hooked up. I have a treatment tomorrow and I'm waiting for a call from the licensed plumber on what time the window’s gonna be for tomorrow. I told him it has to be at three o'clock. I am so pissed right now, it’s not even funny. I want to report this contractor to AHS.
Also, at the time I put in the claim for the dishwasher and they took my $75, I also put a claim in for some plumbing work and gave them $75. Then I called back and told them that I don't need them coming out for 75. They said they would refund my money. I've been looking at my credit card and they have not refunded me yet. But I called AHS last week and they said it was in the process to be refunded back. They're waiting on the bank. AHS has been good to me every year. Whatever I needed, they either fixed or replaced. Our pool had a salt cell that was bad. The contractor came out and saw that it didn't register at all. A company came out before them and that company flipped a whole bunch of switches and made it turn green. They left and two hours later, it went back to red which was exactly what I told him would happen. Six hours after that, there were no lights on it at all. The guy told me he was gonna call his boss. I kept waiting for him to call his boss and tell me what his boss said but he just bailed and closed the case which was why I asked for a second company.
I called American Home Shield back up and said, “It's not resolved. Can I have somebody new because that company's not working for me.” They sent the new company out and the new company was fabulous. They contacted me immediately. The person came out, explained everything, asked me any problems that I had had, and explained to me what he saw. He told me they were gonna have to order that salt cell. As soon as they got it in, they would call me back and let me know and schedule for a time for them to come out. They did it promptly and courteously. They were wonderful to deal with.
The website was easy to use. The only thing that I wished is if they say this is what's wrong, they could give you a space next to it to explain any caveats. If it's not exactly that but similar to that, they could give you another option and let you fill in the blank. Sometimes they'll say what is wrong. It's kind of that but it's not exactly that. They don't let you pick multiple buttons. If they let you pick two buttons or if they let you write in exactly what it is that's wrong, that would be most helpful.

But there was another problem after that for the AC, so we have to call them back again. Overall, we're very happy with American Home Shield.

We had a claim for the thermostat change. The contractor that was sent out was perfect. It was very nice. I've had some claims in the past with some of the contractors and they corrected the problem. American Home Shield is worthy of what they say they do, and I appreciate their service.

The garage door body wasn't opening and closing correctly. I went to American Home Shield and their website was easy to use. They ended up contacting me. Colorado Overhead Door Company was sent out and they were courteous. The guy has been here before. He was nice and knowledgeable. Everything seemed to go without a hitch. American Home Shield has been great so far. Their response was timely.

My garbage disposal was not signing on and the water was at a standstill. Submitting a claim for its repair to AHS was easy. I was surprised that their response was so quick. Their contractor Dave and Sons Plumbing came out the same day that I called. The tech from there was Marcus. He introduced himself and had a mask on. He was clean and professional. He explained what he thought the issue was and tried a couple of things. The disposal began working but then the next day, I had to call back 'cause it stopped working again. Come time find out, something was wrong with the motor and Marcus ended up having to change the whole thing out. Everything is working fine now. AHS is my second home insurance company and is the best by far. Hopefully, we'll continue to have a great working relationship.

The ceiling fan is not working. Somebody called me from the company that fixed the fan and they told me that they would change it. They asked me for a picture of my fan and never ever came back. American Home Shield told me that they would contact the company but they never called me back. I was contacting American Home Shield for one week and I kept waiting. I call every day and spend 20 to 30 minutes. It was very difficult. But overall, I am happy with the American Home Shield and I will continue with them. Their reps are friendly and when I need to fix something in my house, they call a company but some of the companies they call are not good.

We were sitting here one day about a little after noon and all of a sudden, we heard a big arc, like an electrical crackle. When my son-in-law came home, he looked at the air conditioning and he could see where it had caught on fire for a moment. 'Cause we could smell electrical, we called American Home Shield. They contracted Outlaws Heating & Air, and we got in contact with them. They set it up and were out the next day. They were very polite and nice. They had it fixed within 20 minutes. It was very fast. Since we got American Home Shield, we've put three claims in and they've fixed everything. Twice it's been the air conditioning. We had a leak in the coils that all of a sudden it just quit cooling. Outlaws fixed that also. That was a little bit longer because they had to order the part. Overall, American Home Shield had been great, very efficient, and courteous. Everything was handled very professionally.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Our experience with our recent claim with AHS went very well. Our AC was not working. It was the capacitor that had gone out. The contractor came out and he diagnosed it quickly. He had the part on the truck and he was able to repair it the same day. I feel good about the service I get from American Home Shield. Submitting a claim was also easy.

Prior to this property, I had a home in West Virginia and I had Home Shield for five years there, too. I just go on the website to submit a claim to Home Shield. Also, speaking with their rep has always been pleasant. I was here when the Bast Heating & Cooling tech came. It was a quick appointment. They just had to clean out the blowers and do the yearly maintenance that they do for your HVAC system when the seasons change. So far, everything has been pleasant. That’s why I have kept the home warranty for so long. This house is over 100 years old, so the fact that I can even get the warranty, and then when little mishaps happen, it's great to have one.

The technician was very knowledgeable. But the problem on my AC unit wasn't resolved. The technician said something about an electrician would have to come back and look at it because it wasn’t getting any power and he had to get back with American Home Shield. Overall, it was a great experience. Whoever American Home Shield sent out was very respectful and knowledgeable.

It's the second time that Thermodynamic came to my house and as the first time, he did an outstanding job. If I ever need any heating or any AC or to fix anything on my heater, I'm gonna ask American Home Shield for them specifically. He's a total professional. He came in. He figured out what was wrong. He did it quickly and efficiently. He's top-shelf. He did not put in the AC unit. I had somebody else did it. He did a much better job than the other people that put it in. So I recommend them very highly. I'd give them the highest mark that I could possibly give them.
I had a friend of mine who had American Home Shield and he told me about it. I went with that because I've known him for over 20 years and he never led me the wrong way. At first I felt it was a waste of time because I went the first two years and never used it but when I did use it, it was top-shelf. I've used Home Shield a couple of times on my AC unit. I used it on my washing machine, too. I had an issue with that then because the people that they sent out weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing. I ended up requesting somebody else.
Home Shield came back and they rectified the problem. The guy was telling me it's gonna take more than a month to fix my washing machine. So I just went on and took it and got another one. I don't wanna do that because I need my washing machine. And they obliged me and gave me the money that it was worth. I took that and bought another washing machine, which my wife was happy with. It wasn't what she wanted, but it solved the problem. So I'm satisfied with them.

American Home Shield previously was really good. But currently, I haven't had good experiences with them. When you call, there is a long waiting time which is not good. Because of that, I usually don't want to call when I need to talk to customer service. AHS should review their wait time. If they can do that and have quicker service, that would be great. Also, most of the customer service people don't work properly. Sometimes there is a disconnection and they never call back. But some workers are good. AHS has to filter those workers.
Another thing is our claim is taking a long time. I have three homes insured with AHS. In my primary residence, I am now waiting for my refrigerator to be fixed. A put in a claim my refrigerator and a man came four or five times and it's still not fixed. It is more than a month now. The tech is coming again tomorrow. If AHS would replace the refrigerator, that would be great.
I also have an air conditioner issue that is still not fixed. A contractor came and said they could not get access to the air conditioner. I then hired private contractors and they got access to it. They diagnosed that the compressor and condenser were bad. AHS' contractor said that only the condenser was bad. In the end, the private contractors easily fixed the problem. Now, I have another problem with my AC and it's the evaporator coil. AHS assigned H & E Company and they ordered the parts. The parts are coming within five weeks. I will probably be waiting until the end of October and the AC will be fixed. And the contractor has not yet called my other house. Those issues aside, I still like AHS. It's probably better than other insurance companies.

My husband goes online or calls to set up an appointment whenever we have a claim with American Home Shield. They replaced my dishwasher before. For a recent claim we had, someone was sent out to look at an electrical outlet. The contractor was good. But it turned out we didn't need a repair. There was a new product that we had. There was a pump connected to the outlet that was causing it to trip so the pump was faulty. The tech basically told us the pump was faulty then he left. We kinda spent $75 for nothing. We could have just replaced it.

American Home Shield came with my house and then, I continued the subscription because I liked it. I got a year free with the house. The dishwasher quit spitting water and I did the claim online to American Home Shield. Someone came out the same day. It ended up being the fact that I have dogs and their hair got bunched up in the motor. So, the technician from EJ's Appliance Repair cleaned it out and everything's working fine now. Everything went smoothly.

The drain pan in our upstairs air conditioner had a clog in it, so it's cutting the air conditioner off. We did the claim with American Home Shield and it was fast. We got a call back. The guy didn't do it right the first time and they had to come back. But that didn't have anything to do with AHS. The AC is working as normal and we’re doing well. We've always had good experiences with AHS. We never had any huge issues and I don't have to argue. There's no pushback. What they say is usually how it is. We've been with American Home Shield a long time and just about every year, it pays for itself. So unless they start screwing up, we're gonna stick with them.

The contractors did what they were supposed to. It usually takes a day or two for them to come out. However, I didn't like the fact that Home Shield went up on my monthly. The only reason I saw Home Shield was because I bought another home and they supplied the one year home warranty. It was already paid for, so there was no use to have two. Other than that, Home Shield was pretty good.

I signed up with American Home Shield because of a recommendation from my friend and my experience with them has been pretty good. I moved over to them from another home warranty service. So far, the process has been pretty smooth. It's been a month since I've taken the service. But it was a little difficult to submit a claim for my dishwasher. After I created an account with American Home Shield, I could not create a service request online for some reason. I always have to call up. And whenever I call up, there's a 30 to 40-minute wait even to log a claim so that wasn't that great. Otherwise, the process is pretty fast after I do it.
It took four visits for a contractor to fix everything. The first time he came for a leak, he said he was gonna fix it. He did something but the problem remained. The next time he came again, he replaced something but then the dishwasher wasn't starting. I feel like it didn't have to take four visits to fix the problem. It could have been done at the same time. I don't know if it was having both the problem existing at the very same time and he just didn't diagnose it. Otherwise, he was very responsive. He was sent over three times. They did the work pretty fast so it was all good although it was a lot of inconvenience.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

The guy from Allen Appliance Service seems to be really knowledgeable. He said I was low on Freon. It was taking a while for the icemaker to start making ice again, and he put a saddle valve on there where he could put some more Freon in. So, it made this razor-thin ice that if you put it in a glass of water, it instantly melts because it's not a solid cube. It is not ideal. He came in today and he said he doesn't think it's getting cold enough. It probably needs another dryer on there, which is a filter because it may have something in the expansion valve.
The guy came this morning. It was supposedly between 8:00 and 1:00, and he got here about 10:20. He looked at it. He said, “Yeah. It’s probably during the expansion valve, and we need to put a filter on.” But he said he's only worked on three out-of-whack icemakers. It's just not getting cold enough because the expansion valve maybe is dirty.
As far as American Home Shield, the service is sometimes good. Sometimes, it gets even mediocre. They resolved my refrigerator for my Sub-Zero, and it's great. We couldn't get a timer for my washer and dryer several years ago. They quit making it, so AHS had to replace the whole washing machine. So far, so good. The thing I don't like about American Home Shield is that you have to pay the money, then the contractor has to come look at it. They have to come, go away, then they had to come back. If anything's wrong, they had to come back again. It disrupts my day waiting for somebody, and it takes several weeks to get something accomplished. Other than that, they're doing as well as they can.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.
