On 8/ 24/20 we requested service because our AC had stopped cooling air, they sent the contractor Service One, to do a diagnosis of the problem, the person that came by did what we believed was a accurate evaluation of the problem, and suggested the change of the compressor with an out of pocket expense of $1500, and said it was not covered by AHS. We called and no response from AHS, we went with the repair but it didn't work, called again AHS and a different person from the same company came, different diagnosis, out of pocket $1445, called AHS no support, Service One said, not covered by AHS, this repair also didn't work, called AHS and they send the same company, third person comes in, now they say it is the board, AHS, now sends a letter that board is not covered, by the way this is the only communication from AHS, checked our contract and they should have replaced AC if not fixable, I think this is irresponsible.

I want to cancel AHS service but there is no way in the website to do this. This is terrible, that a prestigious company like AHS just drops the clients like they don't care. We ended up with a different company and had to replace our AC completely, they reviewed the board and it was not damaged, Service One put in the cheapest compressor they could find and charged us more than it was worth. AHS says they are not responsible for the contractors. Then what are they good for?

The AC outside wasn't getting power, so the AC guys referred it to an electrician. I had flipped the breaker, but apparently, I didn't flip it hard enough so the Preferred Electrical Services tech just basically pushed it and it came on. Home Shield sent out some good quality people, and they came out pretty quick.

Everything was fine with G.M. Smith Electric. It was a second referral because the first contractor never called me back, never showed up and never scheduled an appointment. Even the representative from American Home Shield tried to reach the contractor, and they never responded to that representative either. So, they scheduled G.M. Smith as a follow-up. The contractor was very prompt. He told me his availability was about four days later. However, he was able to get me in with a schedule change from another consumer. So, that was a good appointment.

He came in. He assessed the situation, looked at the fan, took some things out, and looked around it. He explained the process, too. He called me to let me know what his steps were and that he was waiting to hear back from American Home Shield. Before that happened, I received an email from American Home Shield. They told me I was getting another opinion. The second company came out on that Monday. So, that person attempted to repair the fan as well. He took some things off too and came back and told me the transponder he tried to put in wasn't responding. It didn't work. He did the same thing, told me that he would follow the process and either he would call or American Home Shield because he was requesting a replacement part.

I asked him if he needed to take a picture like the first company did, and he did not. He said he would know. I told him, "Well, please make sure, because as you can see, this is not a basic fan. So, I'm not looking for something, a box or a shelf, to replace this." He said he understood and he would write it up. And that was the extent of it.

I really wanna cancel the contract with American Home Shield because this may be third time I've tried to utilize the services and it's been an issue. So, I don't have anything resolved. Someone told me that the fan would not be replaced because of something about a chain or wear and tear. I said, "No. There is no wear and tear. I'm an adult. The fan has been here for 17 years. What's the wear and tear? I don't have children in my bedroom pulling at anything." When I explained to them that both of their technicians took these things apart and put them back together, I don't know why the second one would say that when he attempted to repair something called a transponder. We never talked about a chain. The case is supposed to be somewhere at the point of escalation, so I don't know what to expect. But I'm not happy with the service at all.

We've had quite a few experiences with American Home Shield over time and they've all been good. We've used them for several years. Our appliances need help every once in a while and American Home Shield has done a good job fixing them. Recently, there was an arm in our dishwasher that had broken that brought water to a sprayer. There were 2 technicians that came and they were early. They called ahead of time. They were very nice and did it very quickly. They also discovered that when they were out here, the computer panel is going out.

The contractor didn't wear a mask nor offered to but we didn't get very close to each other. He went down, discovered the problem immediately and had it fixed within five minutes. It was good. We had a big rain that night and the sump pump worked fine. I've always found American Home Shield to be super quick. I have coworkers that deal with other companies and have to wait three days to get a problem fixed. So, I appreciate the speed of response that we always get.

I most recently had a claim with AHS for my washer and my fridge ice maker. Authorized Service was sent out for the washer and Sears was sent out for the fridge. Both did a great job. They were really professional and they knew what they were talking about. They had to order a part and they came and installed it. Everything’s going well.

I had a claim when my microwave oven wasn’t working and they wanted to replace it. I had to call the sales department and that was really a nightmare. I stayed on hold for three hours until they answered the call. I know that's not their fault or it's like they take their time with the client. But at least if they could have a callback where we leave our number and they would call when it’s our turn. They have that option when calling for regular service but not for the sales for new appliances to replace it. But I got the replacement and everything’s fine.

It was my daughter who recommended AHS to me, and I joined. I have used them very frequently lately and they're reliable. You hear from whoever they give your work to within 24 hours. If you don't hear, they would give you the name and the number to call. I love Island Breeze. The young man was personable. He showed up with a mask. He went up in the attic and found my problem, which was the roof and not the air conditioner. He was phenomenal. AHS gives you peace of mind with anything that’s covered that may go wrong. To me, that's important. I have somebody to fall back on and they have the people that will come and fix. I love them. I'm very glad I have the service.

Everything went great with Swift Electric. They came the first time, and the tech diagnosed. He came the second time and he fixed the part. When he was in there, he realized another part was broken, so he put that on order. He came back about a week later and installed that. So there were three total visits and when that was all over, the washer was still making a really loud noise and whatever is still coming out of it when I use it. So, I've contacted them, and I'm on their books for next week for a fourth visit. As far as American Home Shield, so far, so good. I love doing the online request. It seems like things have been moving very quickly after the initial contact, so it's been great.

It had been incredibly hot this summer in Georgia and the AC didn't seem like it was getting cool enough. We had to run it almost all day and our electricity bills were up $225. They usually run about 150, but that's when it's not quite as hot. But at the time, we had 60 days in a row that were over 95 degrees. We submitted a claim with AHS and the techs came out and looked at it. They checked the air temperature and the Freon. And they said there was really nothing that could make it work any better. So, there wasn't really anything wrong with it. Now that it’s cooled off a little bit, it's working fine and it is not on all the time. It is just that it's a 10 year old unit. So the older the unit, the harder they have to work sometimes.

Other than that, I talked to the guys who came out and they showed the pressure on the thing. They said it was not leaking Freon and that the Freon level was good. They also went upstairs, checked the unit on the top, and it wasn’t clogged up. Then they looked at the little vents on the side and wiped them off a little bit, but they said they weren't really dirty either. They said they were actually in pretty good shape. After that, a fluorescent light went out and the tech that AHS sent replaced something. He was good, too. All in all, both vendors were nice, polite, clean, confident, and very good.

Both of my garage doors went out and my husband submitted a claim. The guy from Number One Doors found that hurricane Sally was the reason for the doors and had to call in because American Home Shield was refusing my claim. I called them and they said we don't get a second opinion. They sent Overhead Door out and their tech lives on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as we do. I told him what had happened and he said he would call American Home Shield. He did and he testified because we did not even get rain from hurricane Sally. The problem was the motors went out in the doors.

Overhead Door was excellent. The tech checked on the garage doors to see if they could be fixed. They said the motors were completely dead and they were gonna have to change them out. He called American Home Shield and got everything approved and changed them out. The garage doors have been perfect since then and this repair has helped us tremendously. I would recommend him. He was very professional and prompt. He did his job in a sufficient manner and sufficient time. I love them American Home Shield.

My AC unit was freezing and ice was forming on the unit itself. American Home Shield sent Total Air Care to handle my issue and everything went fine. The tech looked at our unit and gave us a diagnosis of what was wrong. Total Air will be out again on October 15th to clean the unit. The challenge I've had with AHS was with the timeliness of repairs. Sometimes, they can't get a technician out to me for a week. Other than that, I've had no issues with claims or with service. Paying a simple $75 deductible to get a contractor out to our location versus paying a couple of hundred dollars or more to call somebody else is cost-effective. Having the warranty is really beneficial.

AHS had SNL Appliance Repair out for an appliance issue and they were excellent. I have two freezers. The first freezer was done but with the second freezer, the tech couldn't resolve it. For the first one, the tech knocked it out in 20 minutes. He fixed whatever that machine was and opened the line up. He then started work on the second one for a good 40 minutes but said he couldn't get the thing to open. It was too damaged to repair. He kept working on but eventually gave up as he didn't know what else to do. He wrote it up that way.

With the way he was opening the line, the first one opened up really fast and he said the second one should have done the same thing. Either the line was smashed or it was blocked. The tech's machine won’t go through and finish the job. I asked what was gonna happen and he said he cleaned all the other part out. I probably have a couple of days, maybe a week, before it would start backing up again on the second one. Sure enough, he was right. The freezer started backing up a week later and it was causing problems again. But as far as services and professionalism, SNL was excellent. The tech was on time.

On the whole, I'm okay with AHS. There were some times on the other issues that it took a minute before getting somebody out there. But when they came out, everybody was backed up and needing the same thing. That was the problem. It wasn’t their service but the people that they were utilizing that had a lot of calls. But generally, for something I can’t handle myself, I call AHS and tell them I need. They are usually pretty quick on getting back to me and pretty quick on getting the thing resolved. I recommended AHS to some younger people. I said, “Before anything happens, get it now. Don’t even think about it. It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it.”

I've had about four claims on my air conditioner for the same problem. There was a burnt wire in there that was causing a short. My son has a two-story house and he has one air conditioner for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. I know that AHS is flooded now, especially with more and more people homebound and working from home, and probably using appliances more and what have you across the board. But I'm a big, strong advocate, and I'm a real estate agent, so I sell policies as well to buyers and sellers. And sometimes I give those as housewarming gifts. So, personally and professionally, I use American Home Shield.

I've had great results from AHS, so far and their claims process has not been bad at all. I've had either product replacement or cash in lieu. I also generally got the problems solved and I've had not too many cases where the fine print said that my claim was not covered. Plus, I haven't had any sort of difficulties getting something taken care of. So that's a real peace of mind because it's basically an insurance policy. So, you use the warranty or you lose it. It's great if things don't break down, but it comes in handy when something does happen, especially unexpectedly and you need to get somebody out there to take care of the problem. Recently, I submitted a plumbing claim where Cal-Home Construction came out and my experience was great. I was happy with the professionalism and they solved the problem.

There were two different technicians but they both did a fine job. One was for the outside AC condenser fan that went bad. It was making a big squealing noise where the bearings wrapped. They came out here and fixed that. They took care of it in a timely manner. The other was for the air conditioner blower fan that wasn't working. The guy came out here and there was a piece of foam in the blower cage that was keeping the fan from turning. We couldn't figure out where it came from. Also, there was a capacitor that wasn't at the high enough level to energize the fan to turn it on quicker. The guy replaced that, cleaned everything out, replaced that capacitor, and it's working just fine.

American Home Shield could make it easier for older people to get through and get a claim started. They were kinda concerned when I talked to them on the last air conditioning issue. They said, "We just fixed your air conditioner.” However, there was a second problem not related to the first problem. They were kinda questioning.

When we submit claims online to American Home Shield, they schedule a contractor then message us to let us know someone would be calling to give us an appointment time. Within 24 hours, someone is at our location. For our air conditioning claim, the contractor sent fixed the problem the day they came. He was very professional and respectful of COVID issues. He didn't drag dirt into the house. We've had disappointments before for some of the things we have called AHS for. Their coverage is not always what we would like it to be. Still, whenever someone comes out, the person who comes to take care of service issues is always very nice. We definitely recommend AHS to friends.

Both technicians from May Heating did a good job. The first one discussed with me the options and did some cleaning and checking on things. He told me that he or somebody would be back the next day or two, once they've gotten with American Home Shield about picking up the replacement part, and they did. I We've done claims a couple of times on a couple of other things, and we haven't had a problem with AHS yet on that. I was happy with the service but we're selling the house. So, we decided to cancel it. I'd had it for six years and I was rather surprised to be charged a cancellation fee. I couldn't argue it because it's part of the contract. But in the future, the loyal customers should be given some sort of a benefit out of it. It's not like I had it once and I only had it for a year and then I cancelled it.

I had an air conditioner that was not working and it was all online when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. It's quick and easy using that format to request a service and they got somebody out in a timely manner. Dealing with the contractor was very professional although there was some wait because they had to order a part. I've got an old air conditioner so it wasn't unexpected but everything was done. I had to have a follow-up visit because something else went wrong and they were there the next day and took care of that as well. I've had American Home Shield for a long time with several different homes. But I haven't had any claims in a couple of years.

My preference with Home Shield is to talk to someone live. The online process doesn't give you enough opportunity to explain what you mean. My other complaint is they change your contract number every year. That makes no sense. Give me a number that's for two years before you change it or permanent. But they change it every year. Calling in becomes a bit of a problem. In one instance, contractors came out multiple times to fix my washer. Eventually, they trashed it and gave me money to go buy a new one. But it took six times which made no sense at all. At the end of the day, they said, "Well, you need to replace it." But think about it - you pay 70 bucks to get somebody out here, they fix it or they pay for it. Water Heater Solutions recently came out and they were good.

It lasted for a few hours then it crapped out again. He came back out and told us that there were some things wrong with it, but that we would have to go through Home Shield. Because it's a 20-year-old unit, we wanted to go ahead and get a new unit and have it put in. According to what I read online, it takes a while for Home Shield to come to that point. And we didn't have that much time. We were without air conditioner, so we went ahead and went with someone else and had them put it in. We just wanted more than we thought we would get at the time. So, we went ahead and got somebody to come in the next day and put in a new unit.

Summer Breeze did a good job. They came in, saw the problem, got the part ordered and within two weeks, had my repair done. Before that, it was with Eagle. The guy told the company that he had it repaired. There was a part needed but he did not wanna come out and repair it. I went a total of six weeks without an air conditioning or heat. Once I finally realize that the guy from Eagle was not gonna come back out, I contacted American Home Shield. I talked with two different people to tell them my concerns and my problems, and then I sent an email. With that, they realized that this company was not doing the job. They went ahead then and got another company, and as soon as I got them, things went very quickly.

This is the first year I’ve used AHS and it came in handy and saved me money. I was very pleased with the work that I’ve had done. The electrical guy was excellent. He came in and fixed the issue and gone in 20 minutes, which was fast. All the other companies have done a good job other than Eagle. AHS picked a company that didn't follow through but that happens.

We woke up pretty early in the morning with the power flickering in the house. The lights were turning on and off and the refrigerator’s compressor was turning on and off and beeping and the alarm was going off. I tried to figure out what the problem was. When I flipped the breakers, we lost all power to all outlets in the house. We were worried that there was some problem on our end so I put in a claim for an electrician through American Home Shield sometime in the morning. Then I immediately got the contractor information and I was able to reach out to them. I was pretty impressed with how quick that was, especially with the importance of not having power.

The electricians came out promptly and were able to determine that it was a problem with our power provider. The reason why the outlets weren't working but the lights were working was because the breaker box, only one leg was receiving power so we were getting 110, but not 220. I called our Virginia Dominion power and they came out and a few hours later, they were able to get everything fixed. Then they just checked our box to make sure everything was good and power was back. So we were mainly concerned that there was something wrong with our breaker or appliances or something but we were pretty grateful to find that it wasn't related to us.

I am very upset with American Home Shield. My air conditioner still has not been fixed, and it's going on three weeks. I'm out of town, so they can't come this week. I told them when they came last week, and they didn't have the part. The first tech came out and he told the company that it needed a water pump. The second tech came out and he didn't have the water pump. So now, they had to order the water pump. Then, we have to go out of town. I'm very unhappy with the company because it should not have taken three weeks. I really think that my money should be refunded for the amount of money that I paid just to get the first service guy out there. It's ridiculous. I should not be sitting here waiting on an air conditioner to be fixed three weeks later. If it had been 110 degrees, they would have been hearing from me directly every hour on the hour.

Also, submitting the claims has never been easy. My husband had to call like six times. He said the American Home Shield representatives were difficult to talk to, and a lot of times, you couldn't even get through to them. You’d be put on hold and they never come back. I'm very dissatisfied. When I get back into town, I will have to hire me another contractor to do something that I've already paid this company to do.

A technician came and discovered that the condenser outside went out. He told me that he was gonna go ahead and file a claim, which he did. He led me to believe that the condenser American Home Shield was gonna provide was on backorder for three weeks, which wasn't the case. When I called American Home Shield, the lady that answered the phone told me that the technician should have it by Monday. It was hot and the technician was trying to pressure me into getting a unit from them for $3,400 which was outrageous to me. He flat-out lied and he shouldn't have done that. I didn't appreciate it.

I called twice just to see what I was gonna do because the technician told me that what American Home Shield was gonna give me would be a builder grade unit and it wouldn't last long. I felt like that was him telling me there was a conflict of interest. When the technician called on Monday, he said the unit was in and asked if I wanted him to come the next day. But we were in the middle of a tropical storm. The technician said they could bring their tents and this and that. But I told him I've waited this long and I could wait until Thursday when the weather had blown over. After the condenser was replaced, the unit has been working fine.

One other thing is I live outside the city limits. I was told it would cost me $800 to bring everything up to code as far as the technician replacing the condenser on the outside. It was my understanding that if you live outside the city, then updating or getting it up to code doesn't apply. But before I realized it, they got my $800. I'm gonna follow up on that. American Home Shield told me that would be my out of pocket cost and the contractor said the same thing. I don't believe that and I'm still investigating that piece of it. I want American Home Shield to make this $800 right.

Also, before we even got around to ordering that replacement condenser unit, I specifically told the lady at American Home Shield that I have a Rheem outside. I asked if they were gonna go back with the Rheem to which she said yes. I asked her twice and got the same answer. But when I talked back with the contractor, he said no. It does say in my contract that American Home Shield can replace it with a unit of their choice. But I was promised the Rheem and didn't get it. I called and asked for a manager. I'm still waiting on the call back from the manager. American Home Shield does not stand behind their word. I am dissatisfied with the service that I received from their customer service.

We had had American Home Shield back in 2009 and probably kept renewing for two or three years. At this point, we can absorb the cost, which was why we picked them again when we bought this house. When submitting claims, just going online and clicking buttons is super easy. Water Solutions came out for a plumbing issue and the technician was super friendly and easy to talk to. He assessed the problem and fixed it. He explained the on and off buttons. We've never had a Jacuzzi tub in the house so he told us how to upkeep it and clean it effectively. He showed me how to use the cut-off switch in case the kids' hair gets sucked in it. I was impressed at how helpful he was.

Previously, when we had AC work, I was gonna have to do all this stuff and the guys did an easy fix. It was just fixing the natural problem instead of finding every other problem. We had a sink disposal replaced earlier this week and the technicians that AHS sent were not trying to upsell me anything. I'm getting sent a good person. I've been impressed with the service providers. The experience with AHS was efficient, fast, thorough and easy.

We have a swimming pool, and Pool & Spa Doctors came out after we got solar. Our thermosolar company left the handle open, and then the other side closed. So, we came home to a puddle on the ground. We called Home Shield, then they sent out Pool & Spa Doctors. They said, “Oh, it's because one side is open and the other side is closed.” He turned the handle and said that was it. It was just the solar. But when we turned the machine on for the skimmer to clean the pool water, the sound didn't change, and we called them out because of the sound. They didn't come back. So, we called Home Shield. They said, “They closed the case, it's resolved, and it was something solar, and we don't cover solar.” Sometimes, they don't really know everything, but eventually, they put in an order, which is what I hope happens even if they don't know. That's why they have an expert team that come out whatever the issue is.

I asked for a second opinion so Home Shield sent out the American Canyon group. As soon as the tech went there, he flipped the switch on and said, “Your motor is shut.” Why the other guy didn't hear that, I don't know. But American Canyon heard it. They said, “We're gonna put an order into American Home Shield because you're gonna need another motor.” The water ran completely out from the motor and that sounded because it ran dry for too long. The issue is finally resolved. I'm happy Julian from American Canyon knew the problem right away. With the other ones, there are only two guys on Pool & Spa and they just quick fix, be gone, they're done, which is not very thorough. Also, I would like a faster response time.

We were having a problem with our garbage disposal, and I had two people come out for it. The first one that came out had said that there was a foreign object down there, but there wasn't. It was just a piece of ground beef that apparently had jammed up the motor, and they weren't gonna pay the claim. So I called American Home Shield. They sent out somebody else to give a second opinion. They confirmed it wasn't a foreign object. It was a piece of food that had gotten lodged in and they needed to replace it.

When it comes to submitting a claim to American Home Shield, we have the availability to do both online and call. I find it easier to make a phone call. So, I always call them if I had something that's going on and there's never an issue. We've had some good contractors and we've had some bad ones. We've had issues with our air conditioning unit off and on during the summer. American Home Shield sent out three people. They were never able to get it fixed. We had paid like 300 and something dollars in the claims. They all came up with a different reasoning for our air conditioning. Finally, when we had gotten too frustrated, we hired our own person and the problem has been resolved. So, AHS got some good people that come out, and then there are other ones that are not that fantastic. It depends on the situation. We've used American Home Shield, unfortunately, quite a bit and for the most part, there's never really an issue.

I had a water leak underneath my home, and I had to shut off water to the property. Leaving it off, it caused a couple of faucets to start dripping. I called American Home Shield once I discovered it was leaking. A previous company that I had gone through to Home Shield had done the repair. So it was a situation where I thought they would warranty. I did call the plumbing company, Taz Plumbing, and they pretty much said, "Well, we give a 30-day warranty." I was little upset about it because it caused secondary damage.

The same problem I had in November just happened two weeks ago. I figured there'd be some type of warranty, and that plumbing company didn't stand by their work. I was a little upset with it, but Home Shield got me another company, Supreme Plumbing, and they've done work for me in the past and they're excellent. They did a very good job. They said they would even send somebody out if they had been contacted as an emergency situation. That way, we didn't have to go a whole day without water. With the COVID situation, it's kind of dangerous to do that, but we really had no choice.

My experience with Home Shield wasn't any hassle. The job got done and I was pretty happy about that. I wasn't too happy with Taz Plumbing, but it has nothing to do with Home Shield. The only thing I don't like is Home Shield can't get emergency services when the water's out. We live with it because the problem gets resolved. But sometimes, when it's causing secondary damage, it adds a little difficulty for us, a little more expense as well.

We were hearing a whistling sound from our pressure release valve. And while that was the main issue, there were a few other little peripheral items that we had put on the ticket as well that CKC Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning was able to look at. They were great. They were very knowledgeable. They took a look at it and said, “You're okay. This isn't a major thing.” Then, they took a look at a few of the other things that were on the ticket and took care of them immediately. We were very happy with them. They would probably be an outside source for us if we ever have to go directly to a plumber for any other related issues, or any issues that we would need. They were very candid, and they tried to make sure that I understood everything that was going on. So, we were very impressed with them.

The only thing with American Home Shield is that it seems that it's not an issue to have something fixed until it's like a major issue. For instance, if I had a leaking pipe, that may or may not be as big an issue as if the pipe bursts. It's not more or less preventive maintenance, as much as it's like the last stand sort of thing. Having said that, we've been very happy with the service. We've also been very happy with the turnaround time when the contractors come out to fix things. We've always had a positive experience with American Home Shield.

Only at times, I had to wait a little longer for setting up the service call, and also sometimes wait for multiple appointments to completely take care of the issue. But overall, it has been great.

I was not happy with the timing of my last claim with American Home Shield. They couldn't get a contractor out over the weekend. I put the claim in electronically and their system said that a response would be given in 24 business hours. I got the number for their contractor and I reached out to them. However, they were closed and they were not being responsive. It was really hot at my place and I didn't want to wait two days later to schedule an appointment. So, I cancelled the request and looked for a contractor on my own.

Our air conditioner was running continuously. I made a claim with American Home Shield online and it was really simple. Lasseigne’s Heating and A/C came out the next day. The tech said he would be here at 8:30 and he got here right before then. He was very professional and polite. Everything was fine. He said he cleaned the ducts. He had to spray water inside them from the outside because it had dirt in there. He also added Freon to the AC. The unit's running fine now. Before, we were having so many issues with it being super cold or super hot. But now, it's turning off and on like it's supposed to. The energy bill had gone up too so we're hoping that this repair is gonna help for that not to happen anymore. Working with American Home Shield has been great.

The technician was very knowledgeable. He was respectful and professional. He repaired it right on the spot. We love having a warranty with American Home Shield. We've had one with them before. The only reason why I didn't have them before now on the new home is whoever they set us up with at closing was who we were with for a year. But as soon as that expired, I went right back to American Home Shield.

Metro Heating was excellent. They were very honest. My furnace wouldn't work and I had had an air conditioner put in in the summer by American Home Shield. The guy walked in and said my gas wasn't turned back on when they replaced my air conditioner. I shouldn't have to pay a deductible for it because it needed to come back on the other person. He also said he'd put it in his paperwork if it'd help me out.

It was pretty frustrating with American Home Shield. The first time, I was on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes. I got ahold of someone but she barely spoke English and could not understand what I was saying. I asked for a supervisor and when she transferred me, she disconnected me so I had to call back in again. I was on the phone for about the same time waiting for someone to come on and help me. I finally got someone who actually spoke English and she took care of me this time.

American Home Shield does what they're supposed to do except for my furnace. I'm also supposed to have a $125 deductible. I've had two major things replaced. I've had a water heater and the air conditioner. Both times, I was out almost $1,000. When they say that you're only out your deductible, that's not true. They said I had to pay for all the stuff that wasn't included like the long things that run through the house. They had to make that fit and that's not covered. There are all these items that are not covered. I am happy that I didn't have to pay $3000 and $4000 for an air conditioner, but still, it's not $125. It's a lot more money. It was like $810 and $125. So, it was like $935.

I am a single female. I've never been married and I have my parents living with me. I've had plumbing issues. I can't do it myself so I have to call someone. American Home Shield has been a lifesaver in taking care of me. However, since a pandemic has hit, the wait time for American Home Shield has been unbelievable. I've been on the phone as long as over two hours waiting for someone to come along and help me. With my wait times on the phone and how much money I've been out, American Home Shield is not very good at all. I've had this for at least 10 years and I've thought about changing. I've even taken it down to only where it’s the big items now because I've replaced most of my appliances.

At certain times of the day, the temperature gauge would go up higher than what I had the thermostat set at. AHS sent someone out. The contractor had to come out twice and it seemed to be fixed. Then about a month or so later, it happened again. AHS sent another company out. That company determined that the coils were dirty. They took pictures and got the okay to do it, took care of it, and did a tremendous job. Everything was clean, but I was still having the same problem with the temperature gauge. The same guys came out again and said that it was hot in the chamber and that we just gotta turn it down to 16 and it’d cool down, and I didn't like that.

AHS sent out a third company and they would be the ones I'm gonna request any time I need an air conditioning problem. The guy checked and did everything. Then, he asked me if we had any bleach. He put some bleach down and he fixed the problem. Now, we have our thermostat set higher than we normally do. Also, the house is cool and the temperature doesn't go higher than what we have it set at.

American Home Shield was great. When I said that I was not satisfied, they made it right and sent someone else and didn't charge me for it. In fact, I'm a Realtor and I recommend American Home Shield to all my customers because they are a good company. My sister lives in Texas and she was with another company, and they were nickel-and-diming her to death. When her contract was up, I told her to call up American Home Shield. She called up my guide and she got the same contract that I have. I'm totally happy with them. They're the only company I would do business with.

For those considering getting a home warranty, when contacting any company, read the fine print because some were offering free months, but if they read between the lines, they might have to wait 60 days or 90 days where they won't cover things. With American Home Shield, they have plans that just cover some things, but I took everything including the appliances, and they are excellent. If it's like what turned out with the coils being cleaned, that was almost 100 bucks. I only paid 75 and American Home Shield paid the difference. It's a tremendous value, especially if having an older home. Be careful before signing on the dotted line.

I had an AC claim and I was pretty happy with the tech AHS sent from Douglas Mechanical. He was very professional and he was hands-on. He went to see what the problem was and if it was not fixable with Douglas, he said he would let Home Shield know. Previously, I had a plumbing company out for an issue with a PVC pipe connected to where the hose would go outside my house. The plumbing company didn't do anything. They didn't wanna do the job and I was not very happy with that. They wanted to charge me $350 for them to fix it themselves and said that Home Shield didn't want to cover my issue.

Other companies have told me though that they don't know why AHS wouldn't cover my issue. They said that if the problem was next to my house, AHS should cover up to three feet. Instead, I have to come out-of-pocket and pay somebody to do it. Additionally, AHS charged $100 when nothing was done. I'm still looking around if I can get a better deal with a different company. I'm not satisfied with AHS at all. That was the first time I called regarding plumbing. I'm switching to a different company because they promised they would cover any plumbing issue.

My dishwasher just went dead. The tech from company that came out to repair the dishwasher was a great individual and was very informative. He told me that the computer and the parts that were needed were done with, and he advised me that there's a likely chance that the parts that needed to be replaced will be replaced or the whole dishwasher would just be replaced. He got on the phone, and then I was advised that they would not be replacing the dishwasher. They would just be replacing the parts. Afterwards, he spoke with an American Home Shield representative and told me that it would be about a week and a half before the parts would be received. It seemed a bit long.

Submitting a claim has always been smooth with American Home Shield. I would probably have renewed my contract but due to COVID, loss of hours and my whole financial situation, I have to cut back on a couple of services that I deem essential for me. AHS has been a great help but I just can't afford it right now. Hopefully, in the near future, I'll get back on and move forward.

American Home Shield has great contractors. I've never had a bad experience with any of the contractors that have ever serviced any appliances in my home. American Home Shield is a great service. It takes a lot of the headaches out of worrying about when appliances will break. It's really a peace of mind. We usually don't necessarily think of appliances breaking down and being a headache until it happens. You have to go through this whole ordeal of trying to find a credible individual to come into your home, service it properly, and then if there's a warranty, and so forth. American Home Shield pretty much takes care of all of that.

Unfortunately, out of all my experiences, this last experience was a bit odd. So, I called to touch base about Saturday, which I was under the impression that I would have a rep come out to replace the parts. I was just told that Saturday is no longer going to happen because the parts are on backorder and they don't know when they're going to receive the parts. So, I'm kinda just left in limbo.

Prior to this last experience, I would have definitely referred to them as far as any friend of mine. I would definitely tell them, "Hey, check them out." I was introduced to American Home Shield from a co-worker of mine who was telling me, "Hey, you have rental properties..." His rental properties are under American Home Shield. He said, "It makes that whole ordeal just seamless as far as worrying about tenants, worrying about their appliances. That headache is no longer when you have American Home Shield." Since I just recently purchased my property, he said, "Look into it, give it a year. And then afterwards, if you don't like it, get rid of it."

I logged in, submitted a claim, and then they followed up with me, and everything was pretty easy. The contractor was professional, helpful and did a good job, and I was pretty happy with it.

It's a nice peace of mind to have Home Shield. If you could potentially anticipate something, it can drain your savings quickly, depending on what the occurrence is. So, it's a good thing to have. I've had one before in Texas, and my AC went out, and they replaced it. So it would've been 5,000 out of pocket. So having this, I kinda knew what to expect, and the process was really straightforward. So I'm pretty satisfied. It's a good feeling to have to know that you have that for a contingency.

For the second order, a guy named Adam came on Monday. He reviewed everything but he didn't have the tools. He said that in order to fix the leaking in the faucet in the kitchen, it's going to be a total replacement because they cannot untie the parts. For the bathtub, he said that he had to order too.

When I called the third time for this bathtub, I asked Adam to review and check it entirely. He said, "Maybe the next time." He left because he said that he was going to come with the order. But he also needs to review the second bathtub because the first one was leaking. We found out because the first bathtub was downstairs and my wife's taking a shower in the bath. I heard the leaking because the water started dripping and dripping on the top of the chimney that they have in the living room that is made of metal. When I asked for help, they came and Adam said that he needed to break the wall and he was going to come back later. But instead, Charles came and he fixed the problem. He didn't want to break the wall. He was very competent and excellent. He fixed it right away and showed me how to do that.

I lost heat in my house and it turned out that I had air in the piped and they needed to be bled. I had attempted to bleed the pipes myself and one valve didn’t close right. It was leaking a little. That wasn't part of the original service call, but these two kids, probably both about maybe 24, 25-ish, were awesome. They were polite, respectful, and neat. The kid who was clearly the senior of the two of them looked at a valve that was dripping. He said that it was gonna take him five minutes to do and he fixed it. He just did it himself before he left. They were incredible. The heat is working awesome now. It’s the time of the year where it starts getting cold again here in New England.

I had an issue last year and I had to call American Home Shield. A valve on the furnace was actually gone and that was fixed last year. Also, back in the spring, I had a valve go and AHS sent somebody out. I literally had to give the kid the part that was used to fix the furnace. So in comparison to the previous ones who came out, these two kids this year were awesome. They are excellent representatives of what AHS stands for. Even with that one bad experience, the best thing I have ever done in my life was to get an American Home Shield policy. AHS is fantastic. In all the times I’ve had to use them, I've had zero complaints. I tell people all the time that I have American Home Shield.

They were great, knowledgeable, and tremendous. We got cold air since the repair. Everything’s been fair with American Home Shield. I just started with them and I’m very impressed. They followed up with us and they were excellent. In fact, recommended them to my brother and my sister too.

It's easy to submit claims. I usually do it online. I tried to call in before but was unable to get anyone. This is a secondary problem. We already tried to have the problem fixed once with the prior claim for the same thing. But I felt that technician didn't wanna be here. He didn't even investigate it. So, we just waited a while and stopped using that sink, and it kept leaking there. Then, we called Home Shield again to have someone else come out to look and see because the other guy told us we didn't have a leak, but we did. The recent guy didn't do it either. But he got in there and looked, which made me happy. We just started using the sink again. We're waiting to see if anything happens now. He was confused as well, but it made me happy that he looked because the first guy didn't even care. He acknowledged there was actually something going on.

The only thing that I don't like, sometimes, it's an emergency. In the hottest days of the summer in Houston, it is really hot. 114 was the heat index. And you have to wait 24 hours for someone to come out. There is no way to get someone when you have an emergency. We had to go and stay in a motel because we have little dogs that can't stand that kind of heat and we couldn't get anyone to come and check it out. But overall, my experience with Home Shield has been fairly decent. I really liked them a lot better than the company we had before them.

Prolite was good. The tech was a very friendly and professional. One of my claims was for the refrigerator. It was not getting cold and the freezer wasn't working. The problem was something electrical and the tech fixed it. The second claim was for the washing machine. It was making a loud noise when it was turning. The tech had to change four springs on the machine. He ordered the parts and came back a week later and put them on. It's working great now.

I called in a claim when the garage door was making a big loud noise. The tech that came out said that the door panels were broken and they were not covered by Home Shield. But when I did the contract, Home Shield told me that everything was covered except for the pool ground but they would cover everything on top. So I was in the impression that everything in the house was covered, including my garage. But I just paid the deductible and they didn't fix anything on the garage. I told Home Shield to send me a copy of the contract because I don't remember how I did the contract, if it was a written contract or I signed it over the phone. So they said they're gonna send the contract which says that the door panels are not covered.

I've been with Home Shield for years. Sometimes, they send somebody out who doesn't do a very good job. Sometimes, they send somebody else who does. Recently, I put in a request and I haven't got anybody. It's for the third time a contractor needs to come out on the same problem. I had one toilet that was running constantly. It wouldn't fill up the tank. I'm sure it was the little flap at the bottom. I had another toilet that would occasionally run. Also, I have to hold it down a long time for it to finish flushing. That toilet had begun to run at every 10 minutes like it's losing some water from the flap as well. So, the contractor came out, they adjusted it, but it didn't do anything. And then, I went through Home Shield's website and requested but I haven't even heard anything back from that. But I've been with other companies and switched back to Home Shield because I prefer their service.

Submitting a claim to Home Shield has been easy. I usually call. They just take down what's wrong, and then find a vendor, then the vendor calls me from there. Care Appliance Repair's tech came out the first time, figured out what was wrong with the washer, and said he had to order the parts. And then, he came back and installed the parts. It has worked okay since then.

I have a friend who utilizes American Home Shield, and they liked it. I decided to add it on my home. It's pretty simple to do claims with them. I did one for the oven that stopped working. They sent out a repair guy two days later, and then it took 10 days for him to come back and fix it. The only critique I would give to American Home Shield is that there's a process by which you fill out something on their online portal. They need to know then the make and model of whatever appliance it is, and then you can't just write in what the problem is. You have to pick from a list of the symptoms. They should have somewhere where you can write it in because the pick list didn't have what the problem was. The pick list needs to be more specific or have more options. Other than that, they did a beautiful job disclosing how the process works and what the payment situation is.

That irritated me. I got it straightened out and the repairman came. He took a look at it and told me what was wrong. But he didn't leave any paperwork that he had come into my house. When I asked my daughter if he left any paperwork or when was he coming back? She said that he only said he had to order a part.

I called American Home Shield to see when he was coming back and what was the status because I have been without a refrigerator for too long. Then the repairman came and he fixed it. He was very nice and very knowledgeable on what he was doing. I was satisfied with his service. He was a really great guy. So, at the end, it all worked out. Everything is still working okay. He wore his mask, he was great, and he fixed it. I had a great experience with both of them.

I got the one year home warranty as part of the purchase, like the perks, and I maintained it on my own. I continued it for two years after the initial year because it really is worth it for what I pay for the year to have things be covered. There were two repairs and I don't know how much it could have cost but it was just the $75 fee and both things were fixed. I tell people of AHS. It’s not that big of an expense.

ABNation came out to work on our pool but after the pool pump was put in, when my husband came home, he noticed that there was a lot of noise from the pool pump, which was louder than the other one. So, I sent the technician a video so he could hear the noise. I told him that the ears to the motor mount had holes in them where it gets screwed down to the cement concrete, while the other one was not. I sent him a text and asked if he could screw that down if he was out in this area again. But his response back to me was that I could get someone to do that if I wanted but he didn't want to come back to do it. Then, about a day or two later, the motor wasn't making as loud a noise as what it was originally doing. Other than that, the guy was good. He put the stuff in and I just didn't realize at the time that that motor was terribly loud.

I had one other thing done under the warranty and it was for the refrigerator. The tech came and told me that the problem with the refrigerator was a fan motor. So, he replaced it. But my refrigerator still makes that weird noise every now and then, though not as bad as it used to do. They're like the grinding weird noise and that was what the fridge did originally, until finally, the motor burnt out. So I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to fail eventually. It's working like a charm now but it would make a weird noise out of the blue. It can just happen during the day or at nighttime when we're in bed. I never called back Sears for it at all because I figured I was probably just going to be told that as long as it's working, that's all that matters.

Besides that, we had to wait a couple few days for the part on the refrigerator and we had to wait close to a week. Thank goodness I have another fridge. If I have a problem with the AC, I used to have a company come out here and they'd be out here within an hour to diagnose and fix it. But if our air conditioner ever goes out, I wonder how long I'm gonna wait for service. The guy who did the pool pump told me that on certain days of the week, they do this city. So if you're a few days off from that date, you're waiting.

Alpine Plumbing & Heating came to check my hot water heater and my furnace. I had two water leaks downstairs. They went in and replaced my hot water heater because it was bad. They fixed some leaks and checked my garbage disposal and my sink. They worked on a lot of different stuff and they did a great job. I was really happy with it. I also had a claim to have somebody come out and take a look at my appliances and American Home Shield sent another gentleman out to do that.

But I've called and been on hold for two or three hours at a time and I couldn't get anybody to tell me what was going on with my oven. It's a freestanding gas range. I talked to the serviceman a couple of times and he's not sure what's going on too. Apparently, American Home Shield trying to order a part for it but I can't get anybody to talk to me. I am not super happy with trying to get in touch with people at American Home Shield. People don't have two or three hours to wait on hold. And I get shifted from one person to another. Finally got back to the department where I was supposed to talk to someone to find out when they were going to order the part or what status was. I was on hold for another hour. But then I had to go back to work. I wasn't too thrilled about that.

But I've been super happy with the work that Alpine Plumbing & Heating has done. There was also the gentleman named Brian from Fix Right Appliance. He was great. He called me and asked if I was able to get any information on what was going on. I said no and told him about the day I spent three hours on the phone. He was gonna reach out to American Home Shield and try to figure out if they are gonna order a part, do they have it, and if he is gonna install it. That was last week and I haven't heard back from him. I'm just waiting. With the cold weather here in Montana now, I'd like to start baking but my oven won't hold the temperature. It will heat it but when it calls for more heat, it won't relight the burner. I know times are difficult and American Home Shield probably got a lot of calls.

A lot of what I've struggled with is not necessarily their problem. But they could make it easier to get in touch with somebody. From what I've heard, American Home Shield is really a good company and one of the best when it comes to home warranties, at least in my area. And I've talked to people like the gentleman that owns Fix Right and also Alpine Plumbing & Heating and they told me that this is one of the best companies that they've worked with. But I'd like them to make it easier to get in touch with a real person. Everybody in America would say the same thing when it comes to an automated service. I like knowing that they're getting to it. But I'm sure they'll eventually get the problem fixed. It just might take us a little bit. The holdup is probably that they may not be able to find the part to the oven. My home is about 20 years old.

Also, I initially had problems with American Home Shield for nearly a year. It was because the previous homeowner never bothered to forward the email information to me so that I could register. Anytime I would go in and put my address and my email address and try to log in, the website would tell me that wasn't accurate. About a week before the policy was gonna expire, I called my real estate agent and she was able to get ahold of somebody. We figured out what had happened. American Home Shield kept saying they sent me an email and I said they didn't.

My real estate agent reached out to the seller's real estate agent and found out that instead of buying a two-year policy, they only purchased a one-year policy and the owner had never forwarded me the information so I couldn't make a claim. But it worked out in the end. That was not American Home Shield's fault but the seller's. In the end, we had a renewal so we've got our second year.

I was having an issue with a couple of lights. It looked like I had one circuit upstairs for all the can lights which kept tripping. It was easy enough to go through the website to submit the claim. Sometimes I've noticed that the site doesn't have all of the options that could potentially be there. It'd be nice to be able to have an other section so you can fill out and say what the problem is. But either way, it works.

The electrician came out and it was raining. He did look up the upstairs lights and said, "This is what's going on but they're not gonna buy fixtures. That's not gonna be covered." He came downstairs to look at the outside light, pulled the switch plate off the switches, looked at the switch, and said everything was fine. Then he closed it up and said he'd be back on Thursday to look at the lights outside to see what was going on. He never came back on Thursday. He closed out the claim with American Home Shield so American Home Shield said they couldn't do anything about it 'cause the guy said he was done. He put in the notes that there was a short. How would he know that? He didn't even look at the lights. He didn't do anything. He basically looked at the switch and said the switch was fine and left. He just put a false claim in there 'cause he had no idea what was causing the situation.

The other three claims that we've put in have been worked very quickly. But this one with this electrician, he did a fraudulent claim and didn't do any work to be able to diagnose what the real problem was. I pulled the light off and ran a wire to it from another circuit, and the lights work perfectly. So the lights are not tripping. There's something wrong with the wiring in the house. I'm not happy with the electrician. American Home Shield is a good service but they have to watch out for some of the contractors that they utilize.

They said it was fine and they told us the price. But then, they came out and said, "Sorry. We do not do fan installation for American Home Shield." They gave us a price to come back, which was a $100. After it was all said and done, she charged us $100 for installation and $200 for labor.

My husband called, said what he needed to say, and asked the question. And whoever he was speaking to, took all the information. Initially, it seemed easy. It was once the contractor got here and said, "No. I'm sorry. We don't install fans." He installed one full install of one fan. The other fan, he just needed to help with the blades. What happened was we hired someone else to do it, but they didn't do it right. The first time the came out, he fixed the lighting because they messed up the fan installation to the point where we couldn't even turn the light on. And he said he would have to come back next time to put on the blades. I have a concern about the second fan he installed because it's not flushed with the ceiling. Home Shield themselves is fine. The window was between 3:00 and 5:00 and he showed up at exactly 3 o'clock. He had the mask on and he did all his checks and whatnot.

We found out what the problem was. There are sensors at the bottom of the door of the garage, one on the left and one on the right, and one has red light then one has green light. The one that had the green light was bad and that was the reason why the door wasn't stopping. He explained that to me. He corrected it and I was very satisfied with the results. I needed to make sure that I move my trashcan so that I won't accidentally hit my trashcan to that sensor so I've got all that taken care of. The seals around the garbage disposal itself had broken down to a nonfixable level. Plumbing Enterprises did a very good job. They went ahead and swapped out the garbage disposal. They were in earlier and out early, and they wore masks throughout the service. American Home Shield is a very good service. It's been dependable each time I've needed to use the service. It's been 98% beneficial. I had one bad incident which eventually was resolved but it took almost four months to get a fix for a toilet issue I had. The technician wanted me to replace a toilet. It turned out all they needed to do is replace a part in the toilet. Other than that, everybody else has been stellar.

I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. They responded. However, I did file a claim and it did take like six weeks to get it resolved. It was a microwave and it had been repaired in the past which was fine. When it went down again, the technician came out and said there was nothing he could do. He was recommending replacement and trying to get it finalized was difficult.

American Home Shield put out an email about offering other services. I did have my heating checked and the guy did a great job. He also offered power washing so I arranged to have someone power wash through American Home Shield. I definitely needed my driveway power washed and it was fair-priced. The guy that they gave the work to called me and said he only got 100 feet of hose. I had to set out my hoses for him. Then he said he only got 100-foot electrical so I put out my extension cords. I've never met someone come out that was not prepared. He should have handled it. There was another offer that I signed up for cleaning my gutters. I called them and said, "After this experience, no thanks." But the other people American Home Shield has had were very professional and really good at what they do. I've had one contractor come out to handle a plumbing repair and they did a great job.

It was pretty easy to file a claim. I'm kind of a little bit old school. I ended up calling them. I felt more comfortable that way. I called them out here twice and they responded pretty quickly. The most recent claim was for the dishwasher. The guy that they sent out here was pretty awesome. We had a delay. He had to order two parts for the dishwasher. But that was probably par for the course. The dishwasher was working after he replaced the parts. For the HVAC, our heat pump wasn't working at all. The two guys that they sent out here got it working. But it was a little peculiar that they couldn't give me an answer as to what was wrong. So I never did know.

If you have a dishwasher problem or a certain appliance, American Home Shield sends one person. If you have a heating and air conditioning problem, they send somebody else. It would have been nice to have somebody that would have been able to handle everything. But overall, it's been a positive experience for us. American Home Shield gives us peace of mind that if some area our refrigerator goes out, it's either gonna be fixed or replaced. Or if it's something worse than that, you don't have the burden of having to come up with a lot of money.

A wire had corroded on the AC, and he had to remove the plate and put a new one on. So far, everything is working okay. As far as American Home Shield, their annual fee is quite pricey but I still would recommend them.

I had an issue a couple of months ago where the water heater that I got flooded my basement and I had to get Jet Vacs. I had to spend a couple days out of work and then, the service got delayed. The company came and they were nasty people. They did a horrible job. Also, there’s Covid and they were not wearing masks nor covering their feet. I gotta tell them to cover their feet and to put masks on. They looked at the water heater and it was all busted up. They laughed and then, they turned around and said that I wasn't very nice. AHS gave me a water heater that has dents in it. Maybe I should’ve inspected my new water heater when I got it.

AHS sent me another company. The other company, Stilwell Plumbing, came and did a great job. I took pictures of the damage and AHS promised to help me out a little bit. I had to buy heaters and fans to dry the basement and AHS said that I should send the receipt and they would reimburse me. I’ve sent four emails and the receipts but nothing. I sent three respectful emails asking if they could update me on this and they called me and said they were saying okay for the fan. I never heard back from them and we're pushing six months. I'm still fighting now to get money for the fans I had to buy to dry my basement. In the span of eight months, my basement got flooded twice. A full water heater flooding your basement is a lot of work. AHS has no integrity. If you’re making a commitment to somebody and you don't follow through, that ends all the thought of integrity or that I can trust their company.

You can't get anybody on the phone with American Home Shield. When you call them, being on hold an hour and a half is not unusual. I've called several times in the last couple of weeks but I have a job and I can't wait on hold that long. AHS don't answer emails nor answer the phone. When they answer the phone, there's always a language barrier. When trying to have a conversation where you get an answer, it sickens you because they just say they're sorry. And then they say they're gonna call you back and handle it, and they never do. You just laugh because you know they're never gonna call you back and they're not gonna handle it.

I wouldn’t recommend AHS to anybody because I wouldn't want somebody calling me up and saying that I recommended this company to them and it’s jerking them around. Or recommending them to a company where they’re on hold for an hour to an hour and a half. I work in four different states and we have hundreds of employees. It's a running joke of how their service is. They would tell us to use Choice. It's something you never use or you don’t know how they are. People try to do it without them and everybody’s saying that they would never renew their contract with them.

The last service I got was for my garage door and the experience wasn't bad. The company was great. There were no issues and the people were professional. Stilwell Plumbing and the plate people that came to look at my garage door last week were outstanding. The technician did a great job and I had no issues. I just renewed with AHS but there seems to always be a problem. The wait time, communication and problem-solving are major complaints. The last time I called, I said that I was on hold for 45 minutes. The rep said to me that I was lucky. They've had people on hold as long as two and a half hours. I asked if they were proud of that and why they were telling me that. The rep said that it was just being truthful with me. It's always the same excuse. It's getting cold out so it's picking up. Any good organization would hire more people at that time.

American Home Shield also replaced the dishwasher for me which was great. They allowed me to put a little money into it and upgrade the dishwasher to what I wanted. We're not using American Home Shield right now because we moved into a brand new home but it was good. The reason you have American Home Shield is if your air conditioner goes out, the amount of money that you pay every month for the occasional appliance repair or small repair, you're gonna pay much more than you would pay to repair the appliance yourself. If you're in an older home that has an older air conditioner and if you have a big problem, that's what they're for. If you don't have that problem and you have small appliance repairs along the way, they're pretty good. They're very responsive and fast.

My kitchen drain was clogged. Third Generation Plumbing came out. It was pre-arranged as a second opinion because the initial company sent somebody out who was totally incompetent. So, American Home Shield allowed me to get a second opinion. The guy who came out had been a plumber for 30 years. He took care of it in no time.

Drain Go is the one that American Home Shield usually uses in my area, and they're absolutely atrocious. Third Generation's guy took care of the problem. He couldn’t even understand why the other guy had a problem. Everything's been working fine since Third Generation came. If I have any more plumbing problems, Third Generation is fine with me, but I will not allow Drain Go in my house.

With the whole experience, I had to do without a kitchen sink to drain properly for 10 days. I had to get different people out, it took four days to get the first group of people out, and then I had to wait till they submitted their quotes report. American Home Shield authorized the second people to come out. Finally, by the time they came out, the problem was taken care of.

Plumbing had been a major issue. Drain Go had been out for three different problems. The first one, I got kinda scammed on because they made me pay $75 for two different visits. But I told them right off the bat that both of my hot water heaters were leaking and they only fixed one, and then when they came out again, I got charged again. The second time they came out, it was a shower valve, and it took four trips to get it corrected. The guy finally had to bring his boss with him. And between the guy and his boss, they finally got the issue straightened out, which I think he put the cartridge in backwards the first time. It was a very negative experience regarding plumbing.

Our Realtor uses Home Shield on her own house. My parents use Home Shield on their own house as well. So, Home Shield came very highly recommended. It's very difficult if you try and submit claims over the phone, but very easy if you do it online. The first few times, we did it on the phone and we were on it for four hours. We would just call, plug in our phone, let it ring, and have it on speaker until we heard a voice. But when we did it online through their portal, everything is so fast, easy, and smooth. We just didn't know that tidbit at the beginning that we could do it that way. If we hadn't figured out the online ticket thing, that would have been the struggle for us. I've got two kids under three. It's not always easy to just sit there and be on the phone forever. But having the online option has been great.

We had a previous plumber through American Home Shield who gave us a window, but would always come on the later outside end of that. I could never get ahold of them when I was calling to say, "Oh, I have this come up. Can we adjust?" Or it wasn't fixed when he left. When we submitted online, we had the option to pick a different company. That's why we picked The Lindsay Company for the leaky faucet, and they were phenomenal. I submitted the ticket, and then they called back and said, "Hey, we have the tech out your way. He could be there in half an hour." It was within an hour of me submitting a ticket, but he was actually in my house.

It was a weird type of leaky faucet, where it doesn't leak when the faucet is running. It was a bit more complex. I appreciated the thoroughness. The tech ended up changing out the whole faucet and we haven't had a problem. He completely fixed the problem instead of just band-aiding it. I thought it was odd that we had a horrible experience with the first plumber which is American Home Shield's recommended plumber, whereas one of their other options, Lindsay Company, was far superior. I'm a little confused why. In recommending Home Shield to a friend, I would have to be like, "They're great, but make sure you do your research on the companies because sometimes their preferred vendor isn't actually the best one that you can use for the service."

The initial contractor was there to verify the job. He didn't do any work except install a bypass on it. Then, I had to reschedule the actual replacement of the water heater.

The only thing was I wasn't asked or prompted when I made the initial call on Saturday if the job or if the work was to be expedited. It was just, “Okay. You've got a hot water heater out. Here's your claim number. We'll address it.” Then, when I called back to find out why I hadn't heard back from anyone, the gentleman said, “You didn't submit it as expedited.” I said, “I was never asked to classify the level of urgency on the fix.” I said, “I didn't submit anything, you did." Because all I did was make the phone call and open the claim.

Our washer was making an extraordinary loud noise. The appliance repair folks came out and it didn't take long, and they figured out that the issue was a bearing. It took a few days to get the part in. One man came out on a Saturday and replaced it. It was a big job, in my mind, for one person. When I talked to the technician, he said that normally, they would take it to the shop.

My wife said, "Gosh, if you can keep it in house, keep it here and repair it, we'd appreciate it." They accommodated us. It took an hour and a half to repair it and it works terrific. The tech was very professional. What I liked about this company is that the man that came out and diagnosed the problem didn't take long. He was obviously very experienced to figure out what it was and he is the one that came back to repair it. When he got to the bearing that needed to be replaced, he showed me what the issue was, and I could see clearly that a seal had leaked on the shaft and came down and destroyed the bearing and that was what was making the noise.

I like to learn and to watch to see how people do things. I watched him the whole time. He could have gotten it done quicker except I was asking him questions. He was very accommodating, very professional, and I was very appreciative, as my wife was, at the work that he had done so quickly and efficiently. He was a great representative. He was a mature man.

I had the wrong lightbulb when I put the ceiling fan in. It was a non-dimmable bulb. I had a non-dimmable bulb in a dimmable light switch. Elite Electric Solutions came out, and I paid $100 for the light bulb. It's very easy to put in a claim to American Home Shield. The only issue I have with them is that most people work Mondays through Fridays. Due to the pandemic, I'm working from home. But before, I was working 43 miles from our home. So, having a 12 noon to three o'clock in the afternoon time slot window is not conducive. I would ask for them to have contractors that had weekend hours, and they don't do it that way. There's no way for them to filter that.

Having a three to four-hour window doesn't work when you have to have multiple visits. There's no way to say, "Okay, I've got five electric companies. These two work on Saturday, and she prefers to have a Saturday visit." They just do whoever comes first. Then if you refuse a company, they make that company not available to you in the future. For major appliances, they need to know in layman's terms exactly what that does and does not cover because I've been in my home four years now. I had to have the AC and furnace system completely replaced. I had $6,000 that I had to pay out of pocket to replace it, where American Home Shield only covered like 1,200 of it.

The garbage disposal had an internal leak and I am no longer physically capable of crawling around underneath doing it. I have the skill set to fix it I but I don't have the strength or the ability to bend that way anymore. So, it was a delay in the amount of time but you get a plumber when you can get one. It was quick as far as that goes. He came out and looked at it, and he needed to replace it. He had one in his truck of a comparable power and size. He put it in, replaced it and everything was fine. He was a nice young man.

American Home Shield should lower the $75 fee but it’s a reasonable price. Sometimes, it's frustrating. We had an air conditioning issue which they said then was a plumbing issue. The contractor came back and it was not. There was a thing that we needed to replace. The air conditioner was gonna be the best solution. So, some things don't go to my favor, but some things do. We've had major issues with the house that American Home Shield doesn't deal with. The supply line to a toilet broke and flooded the entire first floor so we are dealing with the insurance and company on that part. Right now, we are living in a hotel. So, my next step is I gotta go and sign some papers on the people who are starting the renovations because they've ripped out all of the carpeting, taken out all the baseboards and some of the wall because the insulation got wet.

I recommend AHS when anybody talks about the idea of having a service. I have been satisfied. I get frustrated when things break but that's not their fault. They have been honorable and helpful. They have been a good company. I appreciate anybody who says, “This is what I do,” and then they follow up, and that's what they do. They have been consistent and they have a variety of different plans. So, the people are dealing with what they do. I picked the one that I thought was best for the things that we have and I am very positive about AHS as a company.

The only thing is that when I call to talk about an issue, it’s difficult to find somebody that I can speak to without a language barrier. Also, when I call and try to get clarification on an issue or find a different type of solution, I usually have an issue with some of the language barrier with the folks I’m talking to on the phone.

Our recent claim with AHS regarding the ice maker went very well. The technician was very professional, very quick and he did a good job. The first time, I was not very happy with American Home Shield. Our air conditioner went out in the middle of summer. It was 95 degrees and the contractors didn't come for five days. But the refrigerator experience was fine.

We had some electrical issues that were causing light in our hallway and the lights in my son's room to just not function. I tried to call American Home Shield and there was an hour and a half wait so I pulled our policy information and logged in online and submitted a claim. The website was fairly easy to use and easy to work through. It was pretty straightforward. I just entered our policy information and gave a brief description as to the issues that we were having and it was simple enough. Then there was a really quick callback to schedule a time when the contractor would come out and perform that work for us.

Eric C’s Electric company came out and repaired that for us. The guy knew what he was doing. The only difficulty that we had was the lights in my son’s room went back out a day or two after they left, so they were no longer functioning again. We had to go back through the process of having someone come back out and make that repair or look back into what may be the issue there. They fixed that connection and everything have been fine ever since. My son's room is far away from our AC unit and so without having a ceiling fan in there during the summer, it can get a little bit warm. Just having that fan becomes operational again helped the circulation of the air and kept it cool in that side of our home during the summer after moving from North Carolina to Charleston.

Whenever I call American Home Shield, the problem is always resolved. I don't have to keep calling back. I really love the service. It's valuable service for me especially because I own my home and anytime I have a problem, I can always call and they always send someone out. Putting in claims is straightforward and easy. I always call and the automated system will tell me I'll have a 10-minute wait but it's never that long. It's three minutes or four minutes but I guess they just prepare me in case I do have a 10-minute wait. It's always a quick phone call. I don't have to sit on the phone all day. They provide pretty fast solution.

Recently, Myers Comfort Specialist came out and they did well. I had to have them come out twice because when the first guy came out, he said it was a wire that was burning through the compressor. But that night, it went out so I called back to American Home Shield and they sent someone out the next day. Both services were prompt and the technicians were really friendly and thorough. They explained everything well. They did as much as they could do and being as fast as they could be.

The first time I had American Home Shield was about a year ago. I didn't renew right away and there were a few months of gap in there. I have it again now. We have a rental property and Laha's Appliance Repair was sent out to the property to help with a washing machine. They did that and that was great. And then here at our house, we've seen them more recently for several things. Our dishwasher, dryer, and washing machine had an issue at one point.

The interaction with technicians is generally good. What I find with Laha’s is they're not always able to get it the first time. It seems they tend to send very inexperienced people the first time who are in need of a follow-up because it wasn't satisfactorily resolved the first time. Their technicians are nice though. And when they send people who really know what they're doing, it's good. They get it done.

The dryer is the most recent claim we had. I was concerned about overheating on the dryer and it was specifically in one location. On the top, the back-right corner would get so hot to the touch. It would literally burn me. I discovered that by accident one day when I happened to touch that for some reason. That scared me because I thought a fire could happen.

Dealing with the person who answered the phone was good until this time where the rep sounded very defensive. It was the first time I detected a real defensiveness. I had to call back because the dryer was still running hot even after the tech had changed out a number of things. When one of the techs took the top off, I could see that was where a bunch of wires. When I mentioned to the rep it was just that corner primarily where the wires were that was running so hot, she said that was an electrical issue and that I should probably call an electrician. But it was in the machine. My electrician’s not gonna take the top off my washing machine.

The rep to me I needed to have the vents cleaned out so I've got somebody lined up to do that. I also cleaned them myself when the tech was here and saw a build-up of some lint. I used a tool and my vacuum cleaner and cleaned it really well. I checked to make sure there was airflow from the vents to the outside and there was good airflow. The tech checked it too. But I'm still having somebody come and do that because it needs to be done.

The dryer is still an open ticket at this point because the problem wasn't resolved. The vent person was supposed to have come yesterday or today, but a relative went into the hospital so he's gonna come next week instead. Once he comes, we'll see if it's still running hot. But I’m gonna be really frustrated if this dryer is still running hot and Laha’s just says to call an electrician. Overall, I'm okay with Laha's. They get the job done although not always the first go-around.

American Home Shield is doing the job too. With their claim process, it's not hard once I make contact. If I have to call on the phone, it can take up to an hour before they answer. I'm on hold and the recording says there's a high volume of calls. If I keep holding for 45 minutes or so, somebody will answer. Once they answer, it's okay. On the other hand, I can go online and make a request. That expedites things. It's just that I don't get the opportunity to necessarily explain what's going on unless it happens to fit one of their boxes. They ask what the problem is and give me a choice. If it's something else, I can say, “other” but I can't really explain what. That's a little frustrating. But somebody does call and follow up, so then I can tell them.

American Home Shield sent Fast Response for a service for the beginning of the winter. They were making sure everything was in working order with the heating system. American Home Shield said, “Get your system checked before you turn on your heater.” They sent an email saying that they do have companies that could look at the system to make sure that it's in good working order. I just put in the request online and then they sent an email telling me that Fast Response will be getting in contact with me.

Within 24 hours, Fast Response called, set up the meeting, and they were here within 72 hours after we set up the meeting. From the time I put in the request to the time Fast Response came was a total of five days, which wasn't a very bad turnaround because it was towards the end of the week. They were very professional. Before they came in, they made sure to put on booties to cover their feet. They made sure they kept their distance. They explained everything that they did and I have no complaints with them.

I'm a new first time homeowner on my own and I didn't realize that it's really important to have a home warranty. I'm very grateful that I have American Home Shield because when I talked to the girls there, they walked and talked me through a lot of things I didn't understand so I liked that part. With the first claim I had, the lady told me that I could do it online and she kind of walked me through there. The second one, for the garage, I called in and they walked me through everything. The people at American Home Shield have been really great ‘cause they're educating me on a lot of things that I'm not understanding.

Cactus Garage Doors came out recently and they did great. However, they said that the warranty only covers so much. I had to pay out of my pocket for some upgrades they said were not covered. Then there were some things I got charged for that I felt that shouldn't have been charged. I understand it's $75 a visit. The guy wanted 250. I needed to get the garage fixed ‘cause I got to get my car in and out for work. I told him that was a lot for me and I didn't expect to pay that amount that day. The wheels were pretty old and it was not opening nor closing. They should have covered that, but it wasn't. He offered 210 and I paid 285 for the whole thing.

I thought I would have probably paid almost the same amount if I didn't have American Home Shield. I felt that the coverage should be a little bit more than what they were telling us when they came out. Nevertheless, I'm trying to get my mom to sign up because I think it’s important for them to know this, so at least they pay $75 but it gives them the option.

Then there was also a difference between the fridge and the freezer, something with icemakers, and it was a $75 fee. We got an email that said they sent out a request to somebody, that we should hear from them in a few days. We heard back after the weekend from the actual contractor to schedule a time. He came out and fixed it all in one session. It was pretty smooth and straightforward. He said everything was covered by the insurance so there was no bill. The fridge has been working ever since. It was an issue where we had to leave it powered off for 24 hours, so we had to move everything out in coolers. We've been pretty happy. We use Home Shield on most of our stuff here as well.

I called Home Shield and told the rep what I needed. I couldn't hang up the phone fast enough. I was done on the phone and they called the house phone. I haven't finished doing my order. I had just put in my credit card number, and here they come calling already. That was on a Sunday. They said, “We'll have somebody out tomorrow,” which was Monday.

The tech from Hopwood Electric came in there and went right to work. He came in masked up. He took the things apart, and then fixed everything. And he said, “Well, initially, it was never hooked up correctly to begin with.” That was music to my ears. I was so happy to hear that because I thought that I was just stupid. I just don't know how to work the darn thing. But he was like I was the student and he was the teacher. He showed me and taught me so I know how to work it. I truly appreciated him because he was younger and he had the patience. Also, it only took him 15 minutes. The most time it took him was to tell everybody that he arrived at my house. And then when he left, he had to tell everybody he was finished. If I ever have to call an electrician, it would be them. I was so happy and satisfied. I’m never getting rid of Home Shield. I was just talking to them about doing another property with them. I am happy with the service that I get.

So, I got online and requested an appointment. Literally, within minutes, got a call from the guy that was assigned to come to fix it. The next day, he was here right when he said he would be, put a brand new one in 'cause mine was hopeless and went merrily on his way happy as could be. Since then, the garbage disposal has been amazing. It hums, it doesn't scream and jump up and down. So much better. So far, it's been good with American Home Shield. We've kept American Home Shield for a lot of years. It's expensive. You gotta keep up with the service charge. But at the same time, if something major breaks, then it's worth it. Our recent claim with American Home Shield for our AC unit was fine. The contractor came out the next day, so it was really fast. But the other guy that came out for the microwave, that was a debacle. First of all, we had the original microwave when we moved in and we had problems with that. The door frame broke. He couldn't get the part, so we had to get a new microwave. We bought a new microwave.

This was the third time the new microwave was broken. There was an issue with the switch on the door the time before this. The guy came out and he looked at it. He said they need to order parts. On a Monday afternoon, they called and said that the parts were ready and they were gonna schedule the next day. But then, the next day, nobody showed up. At 5:30, we called and they said, “We're gonna be out there.” I asked, “Are you sure? It’s like 6 o'clock.” They said, "Yeah.” It was three days that we were sitting around waiting for somebody to show up. When the guy came out, he said, “Really sorry about that. The part came in, but they had to get me the part. I can't do anything till they give me the part and it’s on the truck.” I said, “That’s cool. I understand that.” But it was a lot of miscommunication on their part. I liked the guy that came out. He was cool and seemed confident.

I’ve used them more this year than any other years because more things went wrong this year for some reason. Two of my air conditioners broke and then I had a water main leak, and my garage door broke too. AHS came through with all of them. But they raised the premium quite a bit by a couple hundred dollars. So, when it came time to renew, I said that their competitors are offering it for hundreds of dollars less. They said that they would reduce it. They had to go through this whole process to price match. So, if I had not been a person who would question it, I would be paying hundreds of dollars more. Instead, I did my own research. I don't appreciate that they're raising my price arbitrarily to make more money but that’s business.

A contractor was assigned and came out, diagnosed the problem. In the past, the contractor would order the part it would arrive in 5 days and be installed. I was informed AHS had changed it policy and they had to order the part, not the contractor. The part was finally ordered on the 27th of August (17 days after the work order), and I was told it would arrive in 10 business days. We were then told on Sept 18th (5 weeks & 4 days after the work order) that it was on delay.

Here we are on October 1st, 51 days after the original work order, still without a dryer to use, and still no part has arrived. I have called the contractor and they have said "We have not received the part from AHS." To expect anyone to go nearly 2 months without a major appliance with no recourse, no refunds, no further updates is poor poor business customer service. If you try to call AHS to discuss, you wait on call for literally hours and hours to try and get through.

We had six properties with them and we are beginning to take all the properties to a new company. We have had many issues with them in the past, but as I write this review I have currently been on hold for over 2 hours. Unexplainable and unacceptable. They just hope you go away if you have a problem.

We are having a plumbing issue at our house, we called AHS and thought it was fixed. Then it happen again the next week, then the week after that. We said to AHS, "We may have a bigger problem. Can you approve a camera to go into our pipes to find the problem?" They replied no. But they did flag our account stating too many service call and that any service to our property would need to be approved, well if you work with them you know that’s a 2 hour wait, so the contractors don’t want to do it. They don’t want to bother. Therefore nothing has gotten done. This is my second time this week that I’ve asked to speak to a supervisor and have been blown off. Worst company I have ever worked with. Customer service is terrible, customer experience is terrible. When I see 5 star reviews I know they are fake, because there is no one they are treating you as well as you're claiming.

I have friends that have had major problems with American Home Shield when they submitted claims where the people don’t show up. But it’s simple when you don’t have problems. I’ve been lucky. The contractor came within two days of the phone call. The freezer wasn't working and Magic Appliance came on time and fixed it quickly. They were fantastic. People should be aware of everything the policy covers and doesn't cover and consider the age of what they're protecting. Because if something old breaks, there's just a buyout and there's a limit to how much AHS will pay. If an old appliance can't be fixed, they're not going to get enough to replace it with something brand new. If it's a plumbing pipe like my girlfriend just had, it was just a buyout. It cost her $2400 but American Home Shield only paid 1000 towards it.

I've had 99% good and 1% bad from AHS. My son just called and he could only get a 2-star plumber to fix his issue. AHS should have the highest rated appliance and service technicians. And once they send out an appliance person and then the appliance person couldn't fix the appliance, they turned it over to somebody else without notifying me that this company couldn't do it and another company was going to be replaced with it. Now, another company is coming without me even knowing why and I'm thinking they made a mistake and they're double sending somebody. So that needs more personalized explanations of what's going on.

Our garbage disposal was leaking and it was not working properly. I did the claim online. I chose what the problem was then I paid the $75 fee. Home Shield came back in the online response and told me that Master Tech Service was the company coming and to check it out. David was our tech and was a professional and a really experienced man. He checked out the garbage disposal. He very easily found the problem and solved it. He changed the garbage disposal and also changed the P-trap and some plumbing parts. He knew his job very well and he was very good at it. I’m quite satisfied. The second thing he did work on was in the second bathroom as there was a leak in the sink. Master Tech was very nice and I’m quite happy with them. They did a much better job than the other company that came before for the air conditioning. When I had the air conditioner problem, nobody called me on for feedback.

I had an issue with my AC, and the guy from Custom Climate Professionals came out and he had to order a part. I had to wait on a part that needed to be replaced, but he did something to keep it cool until the part came. Then once the part was in, he called me, came in and fixed the product when he said that he would, so I appreciated that. He was very professional. I like American Home Shield. The price went up a little bit for the services. I used to pay 50, now I'm paying 75 for the service. But other than that, everything's good. Every time I had an issue, they came out and took care of it.

Our recent claim with AHS was for the air conditioner that wouldn't work. This claim went through really well and I was very happy with the contractors. I went out and investigated my outside unit and got the serial number. I do everything for my own knowledge, also. It's a Carrier outdoor. So I called Carrier here in Tyler. Everything went fine. I talked to Carrier and they knew the contractors. They said they're very nice people, I will be happy.

When the contractor got here, he called me 30 minutes ahead of time, said, "I'm gonna be there early today. Can I come?" I said yes. He got here, introduced himself and said, "Show me where the air conditioner thing is and what happened." He went right to work and got it running. He went outside and inspected the outside. He said everything was good to go. He was professional and right on hand. I was very happy with this company. I was happy this time with AHS's response. The last time on the microwave, that was one big fiasco I hope I never have with American Home Shield. I have had American Home Shield for over 21 years here. I moved here from Galveston County. Also had it on another home in Mineola. I owned three homes at one time, and I've had it on every one of those homes.

I received a response and then the air conditioning company called me that same day. The contractors were very professional. The woman who contacted me, scheduled my time and let me know that they were coming out. The technician came out and he wore his mask, gloves, and booties. He knew everything that was going on. He was familiar with the system and he told us what was going on with it. He checked outside and it was fine. I had a very pleasant experience.

I'm having some sink issues with my kitchen sink and it still hasn't been resolved. My complaint's with the home warranty service themselves. They sent out K & S and the guy did what he could. He told them that the sink needed to be hydro jetted. For about a week after that, American Home Shield said that they couldn't find anybody that does that in our area. I asked if I could find somebody myself and have that company do it then they would just reimburse me and they said no. I have a newborn and he made two weeks yesterday. I kinda need my kitchen sink.

When they found somebody, first off, the people that they picked have horrible reviews and they just sent some run-of-the-mill guy. They didn't send the company. They didn't give me any of his insurance information or his LLC number or anything like that which I didn't like. This is a house I forked out almost $200,000 for and I don't just anybody working on my stuff. He came, he hydro jetted it and did what he could, but still he didn't fix the problem. Now, I've reached out to a plumber myself that has good reviews and gave me his insurance number and his LLC number and we're gonna go about it that way.

The claims process was simple. It was just the fact of getting somebody else sent out to resolve the problem and argue with Home Shield and 98% of operators that I got on the phone with had attitudes with me. Maybe I were able to choose a vendor from a drop-down menu or request that certain people don't service our home, it's something that would benefit Home Shield 'cause I know most homeowners don't want some Joe Schmoe showing up to their house to do their work.

I had a fridge repaired and GE Appliances was sent out. The support team in Atlanta was on top of everything every time I called. Vic did really well. I had to make several calls to see when these parts were coming in because they delivered the parts to me and not to the repairman, which was kind of weird. Other than that, it was really good and the claim is done.

The door and icemaker were broken and it was basically one problem. I took the top off and tried to get ice and water out of the dispenser and nothing would come out. The icemaker was barely making any ice. To be safe, American Home Shield ordered a new icemaker, but the main problem was that the line feeding the icemaker and water dispenser that goes through the freezer door was frozen and filled with garbage because there was discoloration coming out sometimes. The tech popped that door off and put a new icemaker in. It was done two weeks ago.

I have an air conditioning claim that was such a problem and American Home Shield should have been worried about it because there were major issues. I am not happy about that. That is an absolute nightmare and I was very disappointed. I have my cool now but I didn’t when I talked to whoever the poor guy was a few weeks ago. I feel horrible about it because I know it wasn't his fault that my air conditioning unit was broken. What happened was I came back from vacation several weeks ago, Labor Day, and my AC was not working. It had tripped the breaker. A contractor came three days later and that was on a weekend. They fixed the AC by putting in something.

That only worked for a couple of days before it tripped the breaker and turned the thing off again. The contractor came back and did a reset. All that meant was they turned the breaker all the way off then back on and turned the AC unit outside off then back on. It came back on. But that was just putting a Band-Aid on it and not fixing it. I was told that was all the contractor could do. The AC went out again a few days later after that. The contractor had to come back and they said that the motor was possibly the problem because it might have been draining too much power than it could handle.

They started replacing the motor. On two different occasions after that, they broke something there while trying to fix on the motor. They had brackets that they had to order at one time but because they bent the fan blade on the old ones, they needed to order new fan blades. There was a total of five to six trips to have the contractor out here to fix the unit. My AC is fixed but that's about a month later now. It has been running for two weeks but it's no longer 100 degrees here anymore, which was what it was when the contractor was trying to fix it.

I know things happen when you're trying to fix something like that and I understand that. But the problem I had with it was it seemed like it was not a big deal for me to just not have AC in Birmingham, Alabama with 100-degree heat outside for two weeks. I got very angry because that should be fixed. I get that American Home Shield doesn't wanna have to replace the system if they don't have to as it's a business. But at that point, the unit should have just been replaced. It wasn't the inside unit, which is probably more expensive. Replacing the outside unit would have been a fix-all quick.

And like with the fridge, spit and glue will fix it and that's fine. It was not that big of a deal. I can find another one for 900 bucks and put it in. But the reason why people get home warranties is because those things, like the AC, are really expensive. If it breaks in that first year, you kinda won the lottery. But as soon as I get it, it seemed like American Home Shield didn't wanna do it. I had to suffer for two and a half weeks not having air conditioning and I was very angry. I yelled at the guy who was taking my call because of that.

I'm 42 and I'm decently successful. But living with your parents for a few weeks made me in and out when the AC wasn't working. To American Home Shield I was even like, "Why don't you guys put me in a hotel or something? Because this is absolutely ridiculous." I know that request sounded ridiculous but to someone who lives closer to the equator and Birmingham, Alabama, it's not. The day before I came back from my Nashville beach trip, it was just blazing hot in here.

We recently moved into our home and we had American Home Shield that came with the whole moving in process. That ended up being about a month or so after, our dishwasher started to throw an error that said OE. It was not draining properly. Submitting that claim to American Home Shield was straightforward. There was a video that was, "Hey, have you tried these things first before you submit the claim?" I already tried those, but that would have been appreciated if I had not had as much experience with appliances beforehand. Other than that, the contractor was communicative. I work from home, but my call schedule is complex sometimes, and the contractor was happy with texting. That made scheduling a lot easier for me. The dishwasher has been draining and running like it should.

It was a simple fix and he was done in a matter of minutes. The pool is working great. We had an issue with American Home Shield a couple of years ago about our air conditioning unit. But this particular repair went beautifully. We do not call on every little thing and We put in as few service calls as possible when it needs help. It was a little upsetting when the service fee went up, considering what we were paying. My yearly fee went up as well. But it's nice to know that if we've got an issue, like the pool that really can't sit there and not be functioning properly, we can get somebody out there in a decent amount of time with relatively little cost.

I called in because I had a problem with my garage door. But when the guy came, he said that he wanted to put a new one, the rail, the this and that. I said okay and asked if he knew my insurance. He told me that my insurance doesn't pay anything because what I have is a very low one. Since I have it, I only used it one time. I remember they noted the last time when I called for the same thing, the guy probably knew some wires, and tie it, put a tape, and that’s it. Now, the guy that came in knew that the one who came before did a back job because they were supposed to do things and I didn't know.

To me, I didn't like that company after that. They said I have to do it because I already called them and I paid $100. Then they gave me an invoice. They said they did this one and this one and then the next day they didn't. Two days later, the company called me and said they would collect the money. I asked, “For what?” The guy came back and was supposed to give me an estimate, not invoice. For the moment, I didn’t know what he had done. I told him I’m not gonna pay him until he finishes the job. The guy didn't do anything.

They offered me to do everything. Then they said they would call me back. Then they called me back with another person. They called me from San Francisco. They called me from Sacramento. They called me from somewhere when they wanted to collect the money. Then when they finished the job, they called me from San Jose. Then something happened and I asked who do I need to call. They told me that's the same. I could call any agency. They knew that I've done it only because I don't want to leave my car outside. I did it right away and paid 2,050.

American Home Shield sent an independent contractor first, and when he got here, he discovered that Sears had a warranty on the refrigerator. So, he suggested that maybe AHS would transfer it to Sears. I got on their website and resubmitted it and mentioned the warranty. Nothing happened for several days and, of course, we were without a refrigerator. We have an extra one, but we had crammed everything in there. We were eager to get something done. When I filed that extra claim, AHS sent it to Sears. He came out just like the other contractor and said, “Yeah, it’s under warranty, but I don't have the parts to fix it. So we'll have to reschedule.” It just took a while. There was a little miscommunication. But it ended up just fine.
